'Here's what I've learned so far dogfighting in the F-35': a JSF pilot's first-hand account
As we reported last year, the debate between F-35 supporters and critics became more harsh in July 2015, when War Is Boring got their hands on a brief according to which the JSF was outclassed by a two-seat F-16D Block 40 (one of the aircraft the US Air Force intends to replace with the Lightning II) in mock aerial combat.

Although we debunked some theories about the alleged capabilities of all the F-35 variants to match or considerably exceed the maneuvering performance of some of the most famous fourth-generation fighter, and explained that there is probably no way a JSF will ever match a Eurofighter Typhoon in aerial combat, we also highlighted that the simulated dogfight mentioned in the unclassified report obtained by WIB involved one of the very first test aircraft that lacked some cool and useful features.

Kampflybloggen (The Combat Aircraft Blog), the official blog of the Norwegian F-35 Program Office within the Norwegian Ministry of Defence, has just published an interesting article, that we repost here below under permission, written by Major Morten "Dolby" Hanche, one of the Royal Norwegian Air Force experienced pilots and the first to fly the F-35.

"Dolby" has more than 2200 hours in the F-16, he is a US Navy Test Pilot School graduate, and currently serves as an instructor and as the Assistant Weapons Officer with the 62nd Fighter Squadron at Luke Air Force Base in Arizona.

He provides a first-hand account of what dogfighting in the F-35 looks like to a pilot who has a significant experience with the F-16. His conclusions are worth a read.

Enjoy.
An in-depth piece including pix, visual aids, and videos at link. Besides, Dr. Steve likes it when I keep a long story short. :-)

#1  I'm confused. Is Dolby an American Air Force instructor or a pilot in the Norwegian Air Force?

Thank you for keeping the long story short, gorb.

#2  Both, it looks like. A gathering of the best of the best.

At a place with likely a good pool of highly qualified F-16 pilots, here is an exceptional pilot who also has a lot of time in the F-16. I would imagine a talent pool like that could get multi-move chess specific about testing and maneuvering.

Trump Triumphed Due to Downward Mobility
...For the past six months my Republican friends and I have watched Donald Trump’s ascendancy and asked ourselves whether the voters had gone crazy. The voters aren’t crazy. We in the Republican elite were crazy: we thought we could allow the American economy to remain a rigged game indefinitely. The voters think otherwise. That’s why Trump is winning. That’s also why Bernie Sanders, the least likely presidential candidate in living memory, gave Hillary Clinton a run for her money. If you don't give people capitalism, the late Jude Wanniski used to say, they'll take socialism.

...Upward mobility is America’s gauge of well-being. It’s not the decline of median family income that gets under Americans’ skin, but the perception that the elites have pulled the ladder up behind them. During the quarter-century after Ronald Reagan's inauguration, it was only a slight exaggeration to say that someone in every family got rich. They bought a cable television franchise, started a website, got some stock in a high-flying tech company, flipped real estate, or ran a small business that became a big business. Inequality didn’t bother Americans as long as they had a chance at a winning ticket--not necessarily a fair chance, but at least the kind of chance that paid off occasionally for ordinary people. As long they could see that people like them were becoming rich, they kept playing the game.

...In 2008, the door shut on middle-class aspirations with a giant crash.

#1  Many do not realize it but we are witnessing the transformation of the Republican Party that began with the autochthonous Tea Party movement. There is no turning back.

#2  I would say the crash started with the internet bubble popping at the end of Clinton's term followed by Sept 11 which prevented the recovery.

George W. Bush's recovery was tepid and ended with the 2008 crash that Obama exploited.

People have gone from the economic WOW years of the 90s to a decade and a half of laying low for fear of layoffs and working class folks are sick of it.

#3  There are several reasons for what is happening now.

I met David Goldman, aka Spengler, last May. He's a really sharp guy with an interesting history and outlook on education.

My one surprise in this article is his admission that the elite, including himself, didn't get it at first. It's been obvious to most of us 'burgers and followers of Insty for a long time that the major factors of unrest are as he noted.
1)The ramming down our throats of the whole Nanny State PC agenda;
2)The destruction of the individualistic structure of the economy. It's always been true that polls show that plebs don't vote for "ruin the rich" agenda because they picture themselves as moving "uptown". Now that that is no longer in play (see article) ruining the rich, especially the political elites is very attractive.

Basically all the individual issues play into these two major themes.
Posted by: AlanC || 03/02/2016 13:15 Comments || Top||

#4  I'd add:

3) The attempt to by the leftward end of the political spectrum to hothouse-grow the middle class. Hence the mandate for sub-prime loans and educational loans, among other things. Mr. Goldman briefly alludes to the former.

#5  What I think is happening, for what its worth...

The left has gone to far left from the union workers and blue dog democrats. These folks can't stomach most Republicans after years of programming but Trump comes off as acceptable.

I base this on the reports I've read recently of (a) Trump winning in open primaries but losing in closed primaries (b) Record low Democrat turnout plus really high Republican turnout.

That combined with the Evangelicals going for Trump explain the bulk of his numbers. Going into the future we should see more closed primaries so the theory will be easily tested in time.
Posted by: rjschwarz || 03/02/2016 14:41 Comments || Top||

#6  Pappy, you're correct in your recognition of Reynolds' law.

That kind of falls into my second theme about the destruction of individuality in the economy. The salient bit is the Marxist "from each according to his ability to each according to his need".

Let's all worry about equality of outcome rather than opportunity. Can't have that nasty individualism round here.

Direct from the father of Fascism;
the Fascist conception of life stresses the importance of the State and accepts the individual only in so far as his interests coincide with those of the State,

Anyone else see the rise of Il Duce 2 as the goal of the progressives?

#7  I believe that cold simmering anger at what has been done to us over the last eight years or so has a lot to do with the popularity of Trump. The ordinary, rather conservative, flyover-country, working-class Americans are so pissed at the condescension, snobbery and outright sabotage that the bi-coastal elites, to include the media and that Angelo Codevilla calls the "Ruling Class" that they will vote for anyone who appears to be frightening the heck out of that particular class. Trump has the mainstream media and the Establishment GOP baffled and frightened. That's a nice change from eight years and more of being a punching bag for the bi-coastal elites.

#9  I believe the seeds of our discontent were planted by Clinton. People might think the economy was humming back then but some structural problems were being put into place by Clinton. The Community Reinvestment Act, the failure to secure the border and the failure to respond to bin Laden or Saddam Hussein can all be laid at Bill Clinton's feet. Then there was NAFTA and that's when we started noticing that almost everything we found in the stores was made in China.

Bush used bin Laden as an excuse to invade Iraq on behalf of the Soddies but he did absolutely nothing about bin Laden, the CRA, China or the border. By 2008 it was ready to collapse on him and it did just that. People got wise to Bush which is why Jeb had to leave this year's campaign in such an ignominious manner.

But they might not yet be wise to the Clintons. So if the Republican elites continue to undermine Trump they are quite likely to end up with another Clinton in the White House. Maybe that's what they want.
Posted by: Ebbang Uluque6305 || 03/02/2016 16:44 Comments || Top||

#10  Maybe that's what they want.

EU you're on the right path there. They are all on the same team. I'd put the rot a trifle earlier, with GHWB and his lies. Then Clinton did as you said. GWB noticed a few of the problems but wouldn't really fight the system about them. I won't bash him for the fact of Iraq. Given 9/11 it was really necessary....but the implementation???

The path has been all downhill since '88.
Posted by: AlanC || 03/02/2016 17:33 Comments || Top||

#11  88 maybe. It was always disturbing to me that Bush Senior and Bubba became friends. And it really was in the late eighties that I starting noticing plastic crap from China. I remember wondering during the first Gulf War what difference it made to us if Saddam overran Kuwait. Which regime was more oppressive, the Kuwaiti royal family or Saddam and why do we care as long as we can buy the oil? Our government keeps meddling over there and things keep getting worse.

Nato commander: Isis '€˜spreading like cancer' among refugees
[Guardian] Philip Breedlove says refugees are ‘masking the movement’ of terrorists, but human rights groups disagree: ‘We are talking about needles in haystacks.

Refugees from the Middle East and north Africa are "masking the movement" of terrorists and criminals, Nato’s top commander told Congress on Tuesday, despite the protests of human rights groups who say that refugees overwhelmingly have no ulterior motive but escape.

In testimony to the Senate armed services committee, US general Philip Breedlove said that the Islamic State terror group is "spreading like a cancer" among refugees. The group’s members are "taking advantage of paths of least resistance, threatening European nations and our own", he added.

Breedlove also blamed Russia’s bombing campaign in Syria, in support of autocratic leader Bashar al-Assad, for having "wildly exacerbated the problem".

The airstrikes, nominally against Isis but largely against the various rebel groups arrayed against Assad, have allegedly killed more than 1,000 civilians, including children. Breedlove said these indiscriminate attacks mean to terrorize Syrians and "get them on the road" toward neighboring countries and Europe.

The Kremlin and Assad intend, according to Breedlove, to use migration as a weapon to weaken European unity and infrastructure. The general said that European nationalist groups that oppose immigration also weaken the continent, and could themselves threaten violence.

Stockholm: 60 Minutes crew attacked and injured by a group of masked men.
[Mail] Sweden's Avpixlat news service reports that the 60 Minutes team was interviewing residents about the European migrant crisis in the suburb of Rinkeby when they were set upon twice by 'a group of young African masked men'.

'When a cameraman got out of the car, a car drove up next to him and the African driver of the vehicle began to fight,' the agency reported.

'After two minutes fuss about why they would shoot right in Rinkeby as the driver drove over the cameraman's foot. The man fell and lay still for a moment while the team continued to film the car quickly drove away.'

Police were called and took statements but once they left another group lay siege on the Australian crew.

'A photographer was attacked and received a blow on the mouth with a closed fist so that the bloodshed occurred,' wrote Jan Sjunnesson.

'A jar of lingenberry jam was then discarded into the camera. At the same time attacked another photographer who also was beaten right across the chin so that a tooth loose.'

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Beest's Emails Betrayed Whereabouts of Murdered Ambassador Chris Stevens
[Breitbart] The email was actually first released last May but was contained in Monday’s batch as well, serving as a reminder that numerous emails sent to Clinton’s private address betrayed Stevens’ location while he was stationed in arguably one of the most dangerous zones in the world for an American diplomat.

The email in question was written Sunday, April 10, 2011 by State employee Timmy Davis and sent to the State email addresses of other employees, including Clinton’s then-foreign policy aide, Jacob Sullivan and Clinton’s senior aide.

Abedin forwarded the message to Clinton. At the time, Stevens was the U.S. envoy to the Libyan rebels.

The dispatch read:

The situation in Ajdabiyah has worsened to the point where Stevens is considering departure from Benghazi. The envoy’s delegation is currently doing a phased checkout (paying the hotel bills, moving some comms to the boat, etc). He will monitor the situation to see if it deteriorates further, but no decision has been made on departure. He will wait 2-3 more hours, then revisit the decision on departure.

The email is one of several giving away Stevens’ location and movements.

#1  Hostile Foreign Intelligence hackers might have found this Situation Report (SITREP) quite useful, if their goal was to use a local proxy or contract agents to cause mischief, embarrass the U.S., or upset a clandestine arms smuggling operation.

It would be interesting to know what other SITREPS [both pre and post Benghazi attack] might have sent over UNCLAS systems, and the extent of U.S. distribution. The need for a video faux cause and 'Sunday Talk Show' diversion campaign appears quite plausible.

Sadly, I suspect the entire Benghazi investigation will go absolutely nowhere. It may have long ago passed the 'too big to fail' mile marker. Sad, very, very sad.

The Hillary Defense
Greg Sargent,
...a reliable foot soldier for the Democratic party who uses his by-line to advance the agenda...
channeling the Democratic establishment's fear that Donald Trump is unstoppably advancing like the Blob on the capital, has laid out Hillary Clinton's defense plan against him. The first thing Hillary will do is fire up the liberal base and circle the wagons.

Today’s New York Times delivers the most comprehensive report yet on the evolving Dem strategy. It’s worth dividing the Dem approach into two categories: First, there are the attacks that are designed to tear Trump down in the eyes of core Dem constituencies (minorities, single women) and groups of gettable swing voters (suburbanites and college educated whites).

The Republicans are also belatedly realizing they must outbid Trump on key issues like immigration, jobs and national defense to stop his advance. In both cases the problem will be whether anyone will believe them this time. Hillary's credibilty problems need no explanation. But the GOP must also outbid Trump in a way that unambiguously binds them to their pledges. This time the promises need collateral. James Hohmann writing in the Washington Post observed that the most threatening aspect of the rebellion has been its surprising vehemence, almost bordering on kamikaze determination.
Nice language. It's not 'kamikaze' to insist that a national politician have a core set of beliefs, and to act upon the same. But it is a striking contrast to the Democrats, who can be counted on to have no beliefs other than what the hive-mind tells them to have...
Up until now the political elite always believed that discontent could be bought off. But by backing Trump voters have echoed Sherlock's famous defiance to Moriarty, this time as dialogue between the middle class and the establishment. That's when you know it's serious.

Moriarty: It has been a duel between you and me, Mr. Holmes. You hope to place me in the dock. I tell you that I will never stand in the dock. You hope to beat me. I tell you that you will never beat me. If you are clever enough to bring destruction upon me, rest assured that I shall do as much to you.'

Holmes: 'You have paid me several compliments, Mr. Moriarty,' said I. 'Let me pay you one in return when I say that if I were assured of the former eventuality I would, in the interests of the public, cheerfully accept the latter.'

Commitmentment is a powerful weapon in the theory of deterrence. "Precommitment is a strategy in which a party to a conflict uses a commitment device to strengthen its position by cutting off some of its options to make its threats more credible. ... For instance, an army can burn a bridge behind it, making retreat evidently impossible. A famous example of this tactic is when Hernan Cortes had his men scuttle the ships in order to eliminate any means of desertion. Alternatively, in the context of the Cold War, fail-deadly retaliation systems such as the Soviet Dead Hand make a response to a sudden attack automatic, regardless of whether or not anyone is left alive to make decisions."

Supporting Trump is equivalent to burning the bridges. There's no way back. It's a very potent strategy for those with nothing to lose. Whether the Republicans or the Democrats, whose response so far has been a day late and a dollar short, can call and up the ante remains to be seen. The establishment, unlike the voters, is risk-averse. They are too used to gambling with other people's money to go for broke. They are more likely to offer the appearance of reform rather than its painful reality and hope smoke and mirrors suffice to halt the blaze.

The NYTs seems to think Trump is some passive boy scout like the Pubs ran in the past. I began to think the Pubs really didn't want to win the Presidency. They seemed destined to pursue failure every election. Trump will come out swinging and he will use the ammo he has to attack Hillary. She is probably more vulnerable than Trump on many fronts. If the FBI indicts her, she's a goner (although it is just a gut feeling but I doubt the FBI will indict her). That would be too much to hope for.

Rebel says Ukrainians cleansing pro rebel families in Artemovsk

Ukrainian forces are removing whole families from Ukrainian held Artemovsk who are suspected of being pro rebel, according to official rebel sources.

According to a news report which appeared in Gorlovka-Pravda Tuesday, Donetsk ministry of defense spokesman Lt. Colonel Eduard Basurin said that the Ukrainian SBU police agency were removing families from their homes in nearby Novoluganskoe who were suspected of having ties to the Russian backed separatists.

According to the news report, families are being removed by force under the cover of darkness without warning.

Artemovsk is a critical command and supply node for the Ukrainian effort against rebels in southeastern Ukraine. The town formerly was used as a command and supply center for forces in Debaltsevo, about 15 kilometers south of Artemovsk. The town had fallen to the rebels in February of 2015. Artemovsk is known to be populated by several Russian speaking citizens of Ukraine.

During the spring of 2015, when a drunken armored personnel carrier driver killed two civilians, a riot ensued which resulted in several private vehicles being destroyed by fire.

Ceasefire Violations

According to a report which appeared in the Russian language, pro Ukrainian website censor.net.ua, Lugansk rebels ambushed a Ukrainian army column near the Ukrainian held town of Schastye on Monday using small arms fire and RPG fire. The report characterized the column as a mobile anti-smuggling task force force.

Schastye is located on the left bank, or north side of the Northern Donetsk River, and has been held by Ukrainian forces since the fall of 2014, when the Ukrainians were forced to withdraw from Lugansk city after occupying the Lugansk airport for several days. The town later became a fortified zone for Ukrainian forces.

Since the fall of 2014, rebel forces in the area had tried repeatedly to force a decision at Schastye by gaining bridgeheads on the river to the east and west of Schastye, as a means of blocking any reinforcements to the town in the event of attack, but to little avail.

Since that time until this week, rebel forces have contented themselves with the occasional potshots at Ukrainian forces at Schastye and along other points in northern Lugansk.

According to the report, three Ukrainian soldiers were wounded in the attack.

Donetsk Ceasefire Violations

According to another report in censor.net.ua, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), the quasi non government organization monitoring the ceasefire, several violations of the ceasefire were recorded in and near Donetsk city between February 28th and February 29th.

Observers from the OSCE reported from the Donetsk central railway station in Donetsk hearing mortar and artillery fire in several directions, mostly towards the west. The report doesn't make clear whether the detonations were artillery landing or being fired, but it does say that mortar fire as heard well.

The report did not say which side fired the weapons, as both sides usually fire the same weapons at one another, so it is hard to tell.

In western Donetsk, both sides hold positions in adjacent towns in western Donetsk city, and both sides continually fire occasional shots at one another.

According to rebel sources, a total of 186 ceasefire violations in the form of gunfire by the Ukrainians were recorded during the night of February 29th to March 1st.

Even during the height of the war, which has been fought under a ceasefire of one kind or another, 170 ceasefire violations is considered to be a large amount of shooting.

According to reports in the Donetsk ministry of defense website, artillery fire was concentrated in Peski, Avdievka, Opytnoye, Zaistevo, Marinka, Spartak, the airport and at the western outskirts of Donetsk city.

According to the rebels, the Ukrainians fired 82mm and 120mm mortar fire, as well as guns from the BMP-2 infantry fighting vehicles and presumably the 23/2mm antiaircraft machine cannon, as well as small arms and RPG fire.

These are the Pentagon's 'kinetic fireball incendiaries' aimed at destroying WMD bunkers
... the fireballs function alongside a 2,000 pound BLU-109B bunker bomb, Flight Global reports. These bunker bombs are able to punch through six feet reinforced concrete. After punching into a bunker, the bomb would then release its internal kinetic incendiaries.

Once inside a bunker or structure, the rocket balls get to work. Essentially, the balls are hollowed out spheres comprised of rubberized rocket fuel that have a hole on the outside. As Technovelgy notes, this hole causes the balls, once ignited, to expel hot air in excess of 1,000 degrees Farenheit .

#8  As I recollect, the neutron bomb was a nuclear device that was optimized to minimize the blast while maximizing neutron production. Even a small nuclear blast wouldn't do any nearby structures any good. I think that an air burst over a city would kill the people (neutrons go through 17 feet of lead) but if the burst was high enough would spare the buildings. Still, I wonder what all those neutrons would do to the structural steel. ;-)

Islamics have been butchering Islamics for centuries. Like another ethnic community, it's always been easier to blame the outsider for the problems created by the community itself. The body count on who actually kills who remains a in-house championship. Self destructive impulse is in the culture. Literally. We suffer from the spill over.

Tunisia Troops Kill four Suspected Militants
[ALMANAR.LB] Tunisian troops killed four suspected forces of Evil in a counter-terrorism operation overnight that was still continuing on Tuesday, the interior ministry front man said.

There were no security force casualties in the operation in the Ain Jaffel area on the border between the central provinces of Kasserine and Sidi Bouzid, Yasser Messbah told media outlets.

Kasserine province, which neighbors Algeria, has seen repeated festivities between security forces and myrmidons.

Late last month, a suspected myrmidon was killed in an exchange of fire in the Mount Mghila area of the province.

It lies next to Mount Chaambi, which is considered to be the myrmidons' main rear base and has been the target of repeated sweeps by the security forces since 2012.

Militants have killed dozens of police and soldiers since the 2011 revolution that ousted longtime president Zine El Abidine Ben Ali.

Several attacks have been claimed by the so-called 'Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb' terrorist group.

But last year, the so-called 'Islamic State

Assad Says Ceasefire ‘Glimmer of Hope’, Offers Amnesty to Disarmed Insurgents
[ALMANAR.LB] As he stressed that the Syrian government is committed to the current ceasefire in Syria, Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
One of the last of the old-fashioned hereditary iron-fisted fascist dictators...
said that the other side in the conflict is violating the agreement sponsored by the United Nations
...aka the Oyster Bay Chowder and Marching Society...
.

In an interview with German television ARD, President Assad said the Lions of Islam breached the cessation of hostilities agreement from the very first hour, while the Syrian Army has refrained from retaliating, in order to give the chance for the agreement to survive.

However,
facts are stubborn; statistics are more pliable...
Assad warned: "That’s what we can do, but at the end everything has a limit. It depends on the other side."

Describing the truce as a "glimmer of hope", the president also offered an amnesty to opposition holy warriors if they agree to disarm.

"Just ... give up your armament, whether you want to join the political process or (are) not interested about the political process, you don't have any political agenda, it doesn't matter."

"The most important thing for me, legally and constitutionally, ... (is) that you're not allowed, as a citizen, to hold machine guns and hurt people or properties."

"This is the only thing that we ask. We don't ask for anything. As I said, we give them full amnesty," he said.

U.N. delays vote on tough new North Korea sanctions at Russia's request
[REUTERS] The United Nations
...an organization which on balance has done more bad than good, with the good not done well and the bad done thoroughly...
Security Council delayed until Wednesday a vote on a U.S.-Chinese drafted resolution that would dramatically expand U.N. sanctions on North Korea after Russia said it needed more time to review the text, diplomats said.
This is why China is okay with going ahead -- they know Russia has their back...
The vote, which had been scheduled for Tuesday afternoon, is now planned for 10 a.m. (1500 GMT) on Wednesday, the diplomats said on condition of anonymity.

"Subsequent to the United States' request ... to schedule a council vote for this afternoon, Russia invoked a procedural 24-hour review of the resolution, so the vote will be on Wednesday," the U.S. mission to the United Nations said in a statement to news hounds.

The expanded sanctions, if adopted, would require inspections of all cargo going to and from North Korea and blacklisting North Koreans active in Syria, Iran and Vietnam.

After nearly two months of bilateral negotiations that at one point involved U.S. President Barack Obama
I am not a dictator!...
and his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, China agreed to support the unusually tough measures intended to persuade its close ally North Korea to abandon its atomic weapons program.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Israeli troops relying on Waze app blunder into Palestinian area; clashes follow
[WASHINGTONPOST] A shootout broke out in a Paleostinian neighborhood late Monday after Israeli forces tried to rescue two soldiers who had mistakenly entered the area because of an error on a satellite navigation app, Israeli authorities said Tuesday.

The festivities in the Qalandiya refugee camp outside Jerusalem left at least one Paleostinian dead and 10 injured, one seriously. At least 10 Israeli soldiers also were maimed during the hour-long operation.

According to initial Israeli reports, the two soldiers said they had been using Waze, a highly touted, Israeli-invented navigation app bought more than two years ago by Google. The smartphone app, which has a settings option to "avoid dangerous areas," relies on crowdsourcing to give users the fastest traffic routes.

Massive IDF raid nothing new for hardened refugee camp

[IsraelTimes] Lacking any Israeli or Paleostinian law enforcement, Qalandiya has become a hotbed of terrorist and criminal activity, and it doesn’t look set to change anytime soon.

Waze says not its fault soldiers lost their way

[IsraelTimes] Waze, the Israeli-developed navigation app acquired by Google for more than $1 billion in 2013, says the soldiers themselves were at fault.

"(Waze) includes a specific default setting that prevents routes through areas which are marked as dangerous or prohibited for Israelis to drive through," the company says in a statement to AFP.

"In this case, the setting was disabled. In addition, the driver deviated from the suggested route and as a result, entered the prohibited area. There are also red signs on the road in question that prohibit access to Paleostinian-controlled territories (for Israelis). It is the responsibility of every driver to adhere to road and traffic signs and obey local laws.

"Waze has and is continuing to work directly with the relevant authorities to decrease such mishaps from occurring, but unfortunately there is no ability to prevent them altogether as ultimately some prudence is in the driver’s hands," the statement says.

Far More People Claim Alien Abduction Than KKK Membership
[DAILYCALLER] When Donald Trump failed to disavow former Ku Klux Klan grand wizard David Duke on CNN Sunday, the notorious racist group suddenly became one of the major issues of the campaign cycle.

Fellow Republican presidential candidate Marco Rubio has skewered Trump’s dithering response and the media has been relentless in its covering of the controversy. Some, like Rush Limbaugh, have even speculated that the reason the Republican front-runner wavered on denouncing the Klan is because he didn’t want to alienate any of his supporters.

While there is a lot of present concern over the Klan, the group is in reality incredibly small and irrelevant. According to the Southern Poverty Law Center, the KKK only boasts about 3,000 members.

To put this in perspective, far more people believe they have been abducted by aliens than claim allegiance to the Klan. Hundreds of thousands of Americans believe they have been taken by extraterrestrials. One support group for alien abductees says it receives 1500 reports per year of involuntary UFO contact.

#2  David Duke was born in 1950. He joined the KKK in 1974, at age 24. He left the KKK in 1980 - at age 30. For more than 35 years, he has had nothing to do with the KKK.

Robert Byrd was born in 1917. He joined the KKK in 1942, at age 25. He left the KKK 1947, at age 30.

How much closer of a KKK "career" profile can you get? I guess only Democrats can be "rehabilitated" by the passage of time. Others - like David Duke - not so much.

US: Cyberattacks can expose Islamic State communications
[Ynet] US cyberattacks to disrupt the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
's communications and overload their networks could force the holy warrior group to use older technologies that are easier for the US to intercept, Defense Secretary Ash Carter said Monday.

Carter and Gen. Joseph Dunford, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, provided details about how the Pentagon is using its new, aggressive cyber campaign as part of military operations against the Islamic State in Syria and Iraq.

"As we disrupt the ISIL communications via cyber or other methods, sometimes we do drive them to other means," Carter told Pentagon news hounds.

"Sometimes, those other means are easier for us to listen to."

US officials told The News Agency that Dare Not be Named last week that the military had increased cyber operations against the group. The operations include efforts by US Cyber Command to prevent the group from using the Internet and social media to communicate and distribute propaganda aimed at attracting and inspiring recruits. The efforts could also force IS back to technologies like cell phones to communicate.

US man arrested for exporting nuclear-linked metals to Iran
[IsraelTimes] Authorities Tuesday placed in durance vile
Please don't kill me!
a US man charged with exporting a potentially dangerous metallic powder to Iran, which is used for space and nuclear activities, including missile production, the Department of Justice said.

Erdal Kuyumcu, 44, was to appear in court in New York later in the day, on charges that carry up to 20 years in prison and a $1 million fine.

As the CEO of Global Metallurgy, he allegedly exported cobalt-nickel metallic powder to Iran twice, shipping it first through an intermediary in The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
in order to hide its final destination, the Department of Justice said in a statement.

He attempted to send a total of more than a thousand pounds (a half ton) of the substance.

Under US law, exporting such a powder to Iran is illegal without a license from the US Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).

"Those who seek to evade the scrutiny of the regulatory agencies by operating in the shadows present a danger to our national security and our allies abroad," said US Attorney Robert Capers of the Eastern District of New York.

Kurdish snipers kill over a dozen ISIS militants in a day
[ARA News] KOBANE – Kurdish forces of the People’s Protection Units (YPG) announced on Tuesday the death of more than ten militants from the Islamic State (ISIS) in Aleppo province, northern Syria.

Snipers from the YPG, supported by fellow fighters from the Kurdish Women’s Protection Units (YPG), took position at the top of a hill in the eastern suburb of Jarablus city in northern Aleppo.

“Sniping operations in the ISIS-held Jarablus city continued until Tuesday midnight. At least 13 ISIS jihadis were killed today at the hands of our snipers,” YPG officer Nuraddin Gaban told ARA News over the phone.

The Kurdish officer pointed out that the operation was focused on the Tahtani district of Jarablus, “where an ISIS command center is located”.

The Kurdish fighters, backed by allied Syrian rebels, have recently captured several hills in the vicinity of Jarablus subsequent to clashes with ISIS.

Jarablus city is deemed a main bastion for ISIS militants in northern Syria. It has served as a transit point for ISIS foreign jihadis over more than two years for its strategic location on the Turkish border.

Chicago’s Homicide Rate Has Exploded This Year
[DAILYCALLER] reliably Democrat Chicago, aka The Windy City or Mobtown
... home of Al Capone, a succession of Daleys, Barak Obama, and Rahm Emmanuel,...
’s homicide numbers this year are the worst they has been since the 1990’s.

Data recorded by the Chicago Police Department and The Chicago Tribune show that there have been at least 102 homicides this year, 95 of them murders. The incredible murder rate is the highest for this time of year in Chicago since 1997.

This time in 2015, there had only been 52 homicides, almost half the current total.

The Chicago Police Department told The Daily Caller News Foundation in early February that they were ramping up visibility in troubled parts of town, transferring more officers from foot patrol to vehicle patrol and shut down businesses that were fostering criminal activity.

Ex-VP Of Zimbabwe Launches Opposition Party Against ZANU-PF
[SAHARAREPORTERS] Former Zim-bob-wean Vice President Joice Mujuru has launched a new opposition party to challenge President Bob Muggsy Mugabe
Octogenarian President-for-Life of Zim-bob-we who turned the former Breadbasket of Africa into the African Basket Case...
and the ruling ZANU-PF party.

Mujuru served as vice president for ten years and was seen as Mugabe’s likely successor before being ousted in December 2014. The vice president was accused of leading a "treacherous cabal" aiming to overthrow and kill Mugabe, allegations which Mujuru denies.

At her first presser since being deposed, Mujuru announced that she launched the Zim-bob-we People First party to revive the economy and improve relations with the West.

"We are not fighting one man but a system, that system which is unjust," Mujuru told her audience.

At least four former cabinet members who were also purged by Mugabe, including Didymus Mutasa and Rugare Gumbo, attended the launch of Mujuru’s party. According to her aides, Mujuru also has support from some senior members of the military.

Mujuru said that the formation of the Zim-bob-we People Party is heroic and will fight the "scourge of corruption" in Zim-bob-we.

But despite the support she enjoyed at the Zim-bob-we People Party’s launch, Mujuru and her new party will likely struggle to remove the powerful ZANU-PF, according to the BBC.

Supporters of the main opposition party, the Movement for Democratic Change, may still view Mujuru as loyal to Mugabe and ZANU-PF and will unlikely join her party.

Furthermore, according to BBC Africa analyst Lewis Machipisa, Zim-bob-wean law enforcement agencies may investigate Mujuru over the business she and her husband ran after independence in 1980. If it is discovered that Mujuru was corrupt, it will harm her party’s legitimacy.

There has been a sharp rise in the casualties of the Afghan national security forces since they took full control of the security responsibilities from the coalition forces at the start of last year.

According to the earlier estimates by security officials, the Afghan army deaths stood at 4 service members daily on average which is mainly caused due to improvised bomb (IED) attacks.

Venezuelan Opposition Leader Faces Investigation
[ALMANAR.LB] The Venezuelan government is investigating the opposition leader heading a campaign to hold a referendum on firing President Nicolas Maduro, officials said.

Henrique Capriles said Monday that the government was seeking Dire Revenge for his efforts to have Maduro terminated as president this year. His term ends in 2019.

"They know they've lost popular support, that they don't have the people on their side. That's why they have targeted me this way," the former governor and ex-presidential candidate told news hounds.

The Comptroller's Office will investigate budget management in Miranda state - where Capriles was governor - in 2011, 2012, and 2013, state officials said in a statement.

"Inspect whatever you like," a defiant Capriles said. "I have nothing to be afraid of."

Maduro narrowly defeated Capriles during a presidential election in 2013.

But the socialist "revolution" championed by Maduro and his predecessor Hugo Chavez is under the mounting pressure of a grinding economic crisis mainly fuelled by low oil prices.

France pushes ahead with 'Jungle' migrant camp clearance after clashes
[CNN] French authorities resumed clearing the infamous "Jungle" migrant camp in Calais Tuesday in the wake of violent festivities at the site, with the country's interior minister vowing "radical" pro-migrant activists would not block the operation.

Four people, three of them pro-migrant activists, were placed in durance vile
Drop the gat, Rocky, or you're a dead 'un!
Monday and 11 coppers suffered minor injuries when police began dismantling structures in the "Jungle," the sprawling camp near the northwestern port of Calais, authorities said.

Calais authorities plan to demolish the southern half of the camp and relocate the inhabitants in response to unsanitary conditions at the site, but met stiff resistance from some migrants colonists and supporters from pro-migrant activist group No Borders Monday.

Tents were set on fire and projectiles were thrown at police at the site, resulting in arrests and injuries and prompting authorities to use tear gas, Steve Barbet, front man for the Calais prefect, told CNN. Later in the evening, protesters and migrants colonists blocked the city's perimeter highway, throwing projectiles at trucks to slow them down, he said.

Calais, the closest French city to the UK, is a major port where ferries cross the English Channel and is situated close to an undersea tunnel connecting the two countries. The "Jungle" is a major transit point for thousands of migrants colonists hoping to enter the UK illegally.

Why Kadyrov's exit matters to the USA
Ramzan Kadyrov, the longtime President of Chechnya, has just resigned. Why is this important? Because this also just happened today.

To give a bit of background, the conditions on the ground in Chechnya around 2004, when he assumed command of the country after his murdered father, was dire. Putin wanted a clean resolution; the Chechen people were fractured, split among the Chechen Nationalists and the International Islamic Brigade fundamentalists. The nation wanted peace, the Jihadists wanted Jihad and the world was watching.

Kadyrov found himself allied with Putin, and forced peace happened, up to this point. There’s been other incidents, most notably the 2011 Domodedovo Airport Bombing, but overall, he’s kept the place straight, by hook, crook, or however else.

Given recent statements by him in regards to Chechen fighters on behalf of ISIS and the lesser known brigade fighting for Right Sektor in Ukraine( a Ukraine Nationalist/Anti-Russia militia and political party), both of these events point to a direction that may rapidly go south. According to CSM:

In fact, Kadyrov is issuing an ultimatum to Mr. Putin to step in and personally support him for reelection in voting due this September, or risk destabilizing the strongman rule that has kept Chechnya pacified for the past 8 years, they say.

N.Korea to Boycott 'Politicized' UN Rights Forum
North Korea says it will boycott the UN Human Rights Council and "never, ever be bound" by UN resolutions critical of its rights record.
Tough loss there. Who will Saudi Arabia, Iran, Zimbabwe and Venezuela point to now?
Foreign Minister Ri Su-yong told the council Tuesday in Geneva any resolutions against the reclusive Communist country will only be "proof of partiality and double standards."

Ri said North Korea will no longer take part in international sessions that single out its human rights record "for mere political attack." He said the council was plagued by "politicization, selectivity and double standards."

The UN's top rights body has repeatedly slammed the situation in North Korea, with a massive 2014 report charging the country and its leadership were guilty of a wide range of crimes against humanity.

But Ri insisted Tuesday the United States and others who have long yearned for the "elimination of the DPRK [Democratic People's Republic of Korea]" were using false allegations of human rights abuses to boost their cause. He charged they were driving a "human rights racket" against the country.

OLYMPIA, Wash. -- A man whose legal name has made headlines in recent years is accused of assaulting a college officer and a deputy, according to CBS affiliate KIRO.

Beezow Doo-doo Zopittybop-bop-bop was arrested on Sunday. Citing court documents, The Olympian reported that the Wisconsin man was seen tearing down fliers at the Evergreen State College and a confrontation ensued with a campus officer.

During the struggle, he allegedly grabbed the officer's gun, but then bit the officer's ring finger several times. He also attempted to stab the officer with a pen, according to the newspaper.

The newspaper also reported that after punches were thrown, Zopittybop-bop-bop allegedly fled on foot. A Thurston County deputy saw the suspect and chased him into a wooded area, where he allegedly threw rocks and a brick at the deputy. Afterwards, another deputy joined the pursuit and used a Taser on the suspect.

Zopittybop-bop-bop was then tackled, handcuffed and arrested, according to the court documents.

In court on Monday, a prosecutor reportedly deferred to the suspect's original name, Jeffrey Drew Wilschke, adding that he was unable to verify the name change.

Zopitty-bop-bop had reportedly legally changed his name in 2011.

The suspect's bail was set at $50,000 with an arraignment set for Feb. 16, according to The Olympian.

This is not the man's first brush with law enforcement. Zopittybop-Bop-Bop was first arrested in 2012 on a concealed weapon charge and drug charges in Wisconsin, with his name gaining national attention.

He was also arrested on drug charges a year later in Iowa.
Further research indicates Mr. Zopittybop-bop-bop's home turf is Madison, WI. Surprise!

Rutgers University President Defends Free Speech Following Milo Yiannopoulos Visit
[BREITBART] Although the statement doesn’t mention him directly, it was made shortly after the widely-covered visit of Breitbart Tech editor Milo Yiannopoulos to Rutgers. The event faced disruption from the regressive left on campus, who interrupted Yiannopoulos’ speech by smearing red paint on their faces (as well as the floor, the walls, and other attendees) and chanting "Black Lives Matter."

The President’s statement is another sign that relations between the academic establishment and left-wing bandidos hard boyz on campus are beginning to cool. Marvin Krislov, President of Oberlin College, normally seen as a bastion of the regressive left, recently rejected a list of demands from student activists, calling the list "deeply troubling" and promising to address problems by ensuring that "dissenting voices" continue to be heard.

Elsewhere, Melissa Click, the left-wing assistant professor who called for "some muscle" to physically intimidate a student news hound during protests at the University of Missouri last year, was recently fired by the college, for "interfering with the rights of others" during the demonstration.
Rejection is the critical first step. It'll be over when universities have these little Blackshirt creeps arrested at the scene, convicted, jailed, and made to pay the cost of repairs and extra policing their outburst cost the university, plus the usual pain and suffering surcharge for each legitimate member of the audience.

Iraq
Iraqi army launches major anti-ISIS operation north Baghdad
Thousands of Iraqi security personnel launched an operation on Tuesday aimed at retaking areas north of Baghdad from the ISIS militant group, officials said.

Counter-terrorism forces, soldiers, police and allied paramilitaries are taking part in the operation, which is backed by artillery and both Iraqi and U.S.-led coalition aircraft, the Joint Operations Command announced.

An Iraqi army colonel said that more than 7,000 security personnel would take part in the operation, which the operations command said aims to retake areas west of the city of Samarra.

The targeted areas, which the colonel said extend from the city of Samarra up to the town of Baiji, are a corridor linking ISIS-held territory around the northern city of Mosul, the militants’ main hub in Iraq, with areas farther south.

ISIS launched a devastating offensive in June 2014 that overran swathes of territory north and west of Baghdad, but Iraqi forces backed by U.S.-led strikes have succeeded in regaining significant ground from the militants.

Iraqi forces retook Ramadi, the capital of Anbar, from the militants at the end of last year, and are now turning their attention to areas to the north through which ISIS has moved supplies and fighters to the province.

Egyptian Man Beheaded, Teenage Son Shot Dead in Sinai
[AnNahar] Egyptian man has been beheaded and his teenage son rubbed out in the Sinai, officials said Tuesday of the peninsula where Islamic State

group jihadists are spearheading an insurgency.

The man and his 17-year-old son were killed late Monday in the North Sinai provincial town of El-Arish, security officials and medics said.

No bad boy group has yet grabbed credit for the attack.

In the past, jihadists from the Egyptian affiliate of IS have beheaded several people and posted gruesome pictures online after accusing them of spying for the army in the Sinai.

"The man's decapitated body and his son's body were brought to hospital on Monday night. His son was shot in the head," a medic said.

The killings come weeks after Egypt's IS affiliate posted pictures online of two men it said were killed for spying for the military in the Sinai.

Over 200 Qaeda militants killed in clashes with U.S.-backed Syrian forces
If you believe al-Nusra's Top Dawg, currently sunning himself in Turkey, that's only about two percent of al-Nusra's total strength in Syria.
[ARA News] ALEPPO – Leadership of the U.S.-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced the death of 216 militant fighters from al-Nusra Front, al-Qaeda wing in Syria, after two weeks of clashes in the northern countryside of Aleppo.

Kurdish-Arab alliance of the SDF had launched earlier last month an extended military operation aimed at retaking the northern countryside of Aleppo from militants of al-Qaeda and ISIS.

Over the past two weeks, clashes continued between the SDF units and al-Qaeda affiliated Nusra militants in the vicinity of Azaz city north of Aleppo.

“The recent clashes centered in the villages of Malikiya, Kashtaar and Tannab in the suburb of Azaz near the Turkish border,” a spokesman for the SDF told ARA News.

“After expelling the al-Qaeda-affiliated Nusra Front from these villages, our forces collected dead bodies of 216 militants and detained over 20 others,” the official said.

The SDF has also seized a large deal of ammunition and heavy weapons after taking over a weapons storage center near Azaz.

Supported by an air cover from the U.S.-led coalition, the Kurdish-Arab alliance regained control of large territories in northern Aleppo, including the villages of Shwargha, Maranaz, Mennagh, Kafr Nasih, Kafr Naya, and the towns of Ain Daqna, Tal Rafaat and Deir Jamal.

ISIS executes 8 in Raqqa
[ARA News] QAMISHLI – Radical group of the Islamic State (ISIS) executed on Tuesday eight of its own militants on charges of “high treason”, local sources in Syria’s northeastern Raqqa province reported.

Eight Dutch nationals, who had joined the ranks of ISIS last year, were publicly executed at the hands of fellow ISIS jihadis in central Raqqa.

“The militants were arrested at a checkpoint on Friday while trying to escape Raqqa. After interrogations, they were convicted of high treason for attempting dissidence,” media activist Sarwat Abdullah told ARA News in Raqqa.

The ISIS-led Sharia Court has ordered the execution of the eight foreign militants in public.

“The eight jihadis, who were identified as Dutch nationals, were shot dead in front of hundreds of people on Tuesday evening,” the source reported. “Senior ISIS commanders were among the crowd to witness the execution.”

HIGH TREASON

This comes just three days after a Belgian member of ISIS was executed by the radical group after being convicted of ‘high treason’ for attempting dissidence and trying to escape the group’s territory without permission.

An activist from the campaign “Deir ez-Zor Is Being Slaughtered Silently”, which documents daily incidents in the ISIS-held eastern Syrian province, told ARA News that the man was arrested last week while trying to escape Deir ez-Zor. “After interrogations, ISIS accused the Belgian man of attempting dissidence and convicted him of high treason,” the source said, speaking on condition of anonymity.

“The group beheaded him on Friday after a Sharia official read a statement to the public, explaining the background of his case and how he tried to escape his duty of fighting the enemies of the Caliphate,” the local activist told ARA News.

Earlier on Thursday, Tunisian man and his Chechen wife, who had joined the ISIS ranks in Syria last year, were captured on the Turkish border while trying to desert the group and flee Syria. “They were detained while trying to cross into Turkey in a bid to desert the group,” media activist Nassir Taljbini told ARA News in Jarablus.

“The Tunisian jihadi has reportedly married the Chechen woman a few months ago after they met in Raqqa. They were transferred to Jarablus last month in order to serve as guards for an ISIS Emir (prince). There have been suspicions about their movements, but they were eventually arrested before leaving Syria,” the informed source told ARA News.

The jihadi couple has been referred to the Sharia Court for interrogations subsequent to their arrest on Thursday midnight. The ISIS-led Sharia Court usually orders the beheading of any dissidents on charges of ‘high treason’.

Dozens of other ISIS members have been arrested and executed on similar charges in the ISIS-held territories in Syria and Iraq over the last two years.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Lahoud: We Must Defend Lebanon Whenever Being under Attack
[ALMANAR.LB] Former Lebanese President Emile Lahoud stressed on Monday that "Leb did not abandon the Arab consensus, but Arabs abandoned it as they are working to reach consensus on Israel," attributing the reason of Saudi escalating policies towards Leb to the losses of Kingdom in the Syrian battlefield.

During an interview with Al-Manar TV channel, President Lahoud pointed out that Saudis wanted to deliver a message to the Lebanese people that the existence of their country depends on its sponsorship, stating that whenever there is an attack on Leb, the Lebanese people must defend themselves and not distance themselves.

Lahoud expressed beliefs that the root problem of the region is 'Israel', which is plotting conspiracies sponsored by the United States within the Persian Gulf states, and implemented by the so-called 'Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
of Iraq and the Levant' (ISIL) takfiri
...an adherent of takfir wal hijra, an offshoot of Salafism that regards everybody who doesn't agree with them as apostates who most be killed...
group.

"The outline is made by Israel and the executioners are some regional states with the help of Washington, whose foreign policy is influenced by the Zionist lobby," the ex-President said, adding that the United States wanted to topple Syrian Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Supressor of the Damascenes...
as a punishment for his stand with the resistance against Israel.

"His [Assad's] stance rescued Leb, especially Christians who are being exterminated in the region at the hands of ISIL and other terrorist groups," he said.

He noted that the first loser in Syria will be 'Israel', which is trying to compensate for its defeat by provoking sedition in Leb.

"If the Saudi claims about fighting ISIL were true, so why they would have stopped the aid to the army that is fighting terrorist groups?" Lahoud asked in reference to halting the Saudi 'grant' promised for Leb, stressing that those terrorist groups are being supported by the countries that halted aid to the Lebanese army.

"Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
is confused today, therefore it is behaving this illogic in Leb, while the Lebanese politicians who are walking the Saudi path receive monthly salaries from the Kingdom, while the Saudi aid for Leb is being allocated for the leaders and not for the impoverished people in the North, Akkar and other poor regions.

Sayyed Nasrallah: Saudi Wants Sedition, Yemenis Most Oppressed People
[ALMANAR.LB] Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah delivered a televised speech on Tuesday in which he tackled the latest developments specifically after the Saudi escalation and threats against Leb.

His eminence pointed out that "since Saudi announced about halting the supposed donation to the Army, a wide political and media campaign in Leb and the region took off, and there was clear escalation in stances by Saudi, some Gulf states, and Lebanese sides. This escalation - which we barely commented on - resulted in a tense atmosphere in Leb on the political, media, and public levels which spread fear among the Lebanese inside and outside Leb."

"Many rumors came out and some Saudi TV stations broadcast offensive programs which led to developments on the streets. Since 19-2-2016 - the day when Saudi announced halting its donations - we entered a new stage in the political and media conflict with Saudi," Sayyed Nasrallah explained.

As a result to that, he added: "The other political party took action and had public movements and delegations as well as escalations and incitements, and statements from unknown sources were distributed claiming that Hezbollah intended to break into some regions and that Tareek Al-Jdeede was a target... In addition, Saudi and some Gulf countries prohibited their citizens from traveling to Leb and demanded those in Leb to leave for security reasons."

Sayyed Nasrallah explained that the action that was taken by some people in response to the program on MBC helped in raising fear and concern among the Lebanese, however, he assured: "In Hezbollah, we are strong and content and we are in our best status since five years. We are not pressured, and we are concerned about stability, security, and civil peace."

His eminence considered that "when media outlets refer to such a low level, this would be an indication to their weakness. Anyone can wage a media campaign against us, but this level is too low and it indicates weakness," adding that "this level is not worth commenting on or responding to."

As for the reactions on the streets, Sayyed Nasrallah considered that "what happened was a normal and spontaneous response by some citizens who are loving and truthful. There could have been some violations, but the background of this action was out of love, yet this is not the right nor the appropriate way to respond."

He asserted that Hezbollah did not want to go into a clash with anyone and that it had no intention to resign from the government, considering that "holding on to it is a national responsibility as we are partners".

Addressing the youth who erupted into the streets in response to the video broadcast on MBC, Hezbollah secretary general stressed that "You don't need to go to the streets and I ask you not to do so no matter what the programs or statements against me or against Hezbollah were. We must seek effective and studied responses that would serve our goals rather than the enemy's goals... Israel, Saudi, and some other sides want a Sunni Shiite incitement in Leb. Are we supposed to serve them? Any action needs arrangement... and when Hezbollah wants people to go to the streets, I will personally come out and ask you to do so, but as long as we didn't ask this means there is no benefit in that."

His eminence further called on Hezbollah regional officials to "gather the young men who erupted into the streets and inform them that such action would not be effective," he further asked them to directly control such actions and to arrange with "Amal Movement" officials.

Regarding some inappropriate slogans that were raised, Sayyed Nasrallah pointed out that "in some places offensive slogans were raised against big Muslim figures, and this a major fault that the Supreme Leader Imam Ali Khamenei clearly prohibited, as he prohibited insulting, and anyone who is concerned about his religion should be aware of that."

Executed Pakistani praised as hero of Islam for supporting blasphemy law
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] Tens of thousands of Pak supporters on Tuesday cheered and threw flowers at the casket of a bodyguard executed this week for killing the governor of Pakistain’s most populous province over his call to reform a strict blasphemy law, Rooters reports.

Security was tight at the funeral for Mumtaz Qadri, whom supporters consider a hero for killing popular Punjab
1.) Little Orphan Annie's bodyguard
2.) A province of Pakistain ruled by one of the Sharif brothers
3.) A province of India. It is majority (60 percent) Sikh and Hindoo (37 percent), which means it has relatively few Moslem riots....

governor Salman Taseer in 2011 for criticizing the law that mandates the death penalty for insulting Islam or the Prophet Mohammad.

Police blocked off roads to Liaquat Bagh park in the city of Rawalpindi but thousands arrived on foot.

"He lives! Qadri lives!" chanted supporters who surrounded the coffin and threw flowers. "From your blood, the revolution will come!"

Hard-line religious groups in Pakistain say Taseer deserved to die because he himself committed blasphemy by criticizing the law and supporting a Christian woman he said was unjustly charged with the crime.

Pro-Qadri demonstrations first broke out on Monday after word spread that he had been executed.

movement said at one of Monday’s protests.

Stick-wielding Sunni Tehrik activists were maintaining security at Tuesday’s funeral.

The influential leader of the conservative Council of Islamic Ideology declined to endorse Qadri’s action.

"No one is above the law," Mohammad Sherani told journalists, according to the Express Tribune newspaper.

"I respect Qadri’s religious sentiments but I respect Pakistain’s constitution more."

Controversy over the blasphemy law has exposed the growing gap between hard-line religious conservatives and liberals in Pakistain.

More than 100 people are charged with blasphemy and tossed in the clink

each year each year in predominantly Muslim Pakistain, many of them Christians and other minorities. Critics say the law is often invoked in cases of personal disputes.

No one has yet been executed over a blasphemy charge, but at least 65 people have been murdered in connection with blasphemy allegations since 1990, according to data from the Center for Research and Security Studies and a Rooters tally.

All over RINO land, the lying weasels who always cried about “Party Unity!” when it was us who had to swallow their slimy surrender monkeys are already howling about how they’ll vote for the Hildebeest or stay at home if Trump wins. Good. It’s very helpful of you to provide us with further evidence of your Quisling opportunism and hypocrisy. Not that we needed any more evidence, but it’s always nice when your enemy is kind enough to make mistakes in front of G-d and everybody.

No, we’re obviously not talking about those who’ve always followed their conscience. That’s called “having principles” which, albeit not necessarily always the most pragmatic move, is certainly never a dishonorable one.

As to ourself, we’ll vote for Trump if he’s the nominee. We’ve held our noses enough times for the RINOs, it’ll be nice to hold it for once for somebody who enjoys kicking them in the balls, even if that turns out to be his only qualification. And we don’t know that yet. However, we do know that if we end up with the Hildebeest or an Establishment whore boy, we’ll get four more years of the same. In the former case because that’s who she is and, in the latter, because… Seriously, you guys, haven’t we already gone through at least a decade of proof that that will also be the same?

Name one single thing that resembles a conservative victory brought to us by the GOPe over the last 16 years. Please. We have all day. Did spending go down? Did any of the alphabet soup agencies get disbanded? Do we have border security? Come on. Just one thing. Please. And make it something that actually matters to those of us who work for a living.

Crackdown on extremism
[DAWN] THE fight against extremism needs to be stepped up -- not soon, but now. In an acknowledgement of that urgency, the interior ministry has announced a host of measures to be taken against Death Eaters, many of the steps being designed to prevent terror suspects from organising, communicating, travelling and funding potential terror acts. While the specific steps mooted may have an impact on the margins and may prevent some individuals from drifting back into the embrace of extremism, the new measures have left some fundamental questions unanswered. Why, for example, is the state, and the interior ministry in particular, always so eager to boast about any step it dreams up in the fight against militancy, but is always reluctant to identify the specific individuals against whom the measures have been or will be applied? Often times, the difference between mere public relations and actual, valuable counter-terrorism and counter-extremism measures taken up by the state is difficult to establish.

Both before NAP was mooted and since, the state does not appear interested in genuine transparency. Numbers are frequently offered up, but most are scarcely credible. The unprecedented crackdown that the state claims it has conducted on forces of Evil countrywide is allegedly reflected in the tens of thousands of individuals who have been detained by the state. Yet, those mass detentions do not appear to have spurred mass action in the courts by relatives of the alleged Death Eaters. Are they ghost numbers that the government frequently reports? Or if the individuals are real, do they belong to Death Eater networks where it is a settled part of the cat-and-mouse game with the state that occasional arrests and short-term detentions are the price for long-term freedom? It is perhaps the greatest present-day mystery: an alleged massive, unprecedented crackdown on forces of Evil of every hue nationally has resulted in scarcely a peep from the forces of Evil and their backers.

What is always missing is a basic map of extremism in the country. Which are the groups involved? How are they organised? How are they funded? Who are the leaders? How do the organizational structures cut across provinces and perhaps even the borders of the country? Nothing has been established publicly, not even a simple, up-to-date list of proscribed groups and the individuals who comprise it. Even where specific measures are announced -- such as those by Nisar Ali Khan on Monday -- there are questions. Barring individuals affiliated with proscribed groups from having a driving licence or acquiring a SIM is unlikely to prevent those individuals from driving or using mobile phones. Perhaps the sum of the measures announced previously and on Monday may have some impact on the margins, but extremism is a problem that is beyond the capability of a single ministry -- or even a single government, at the centre or in the provinces -- to address. The country may have NAP, but it still lacks national action in a meaningful sense.

Infiltration of militants from Balochistan being effectively checked
LARKANA: Home Minister Suhail Anwer Siyal presided over a meeting here on Tuesday to discuss overall law and order and progress in the implementation of the National Action Plan (NAP) in the province as well as the on-going operation against dacoits in Shikarpur and the issues relating to the welfare of police personnel.

Provincial police chief Ghulam Haidar Jamali, the additional home secretary, additional inspector-general, and DIGs and SSPs of Larkana and Sukkur division attended the meeting.

Speaking to journalists after the meeting, the home minister said that the border police force had been revived after it was established that militants had moved into Sindh from the Mastung area of Balochistan to carry out attacks. The force, he added, effectively checked such infiltration from the identified points.

The minister said that personnel of the border force would also be deployed at the entry/exit points along the borders of Qambar-Shahdadkot, Kandhkot-Kashmore and Jacobabad districts.

Mr Siyal lauded the role of the army chief, Sindh Rangers and police in restoring peace to Karachi and said that the operation would continue till the elimination of the last terrorist.

Recalling that all stakeholders were taken on board before the launch of the Rangers-led operation in Karachi, he rejected the impression that the ruling Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) or the Sindh government was now opposing it.

The PPP, he argued, wanted elimination of terrorism more than any other party as it lost its leader Benazir Bhutto to terrorists.

Rejecting the allegation that the PPP was trying to save certain elements involved in criminal activities, the home minister said that Lyari, which had always been PPP’s stronghold, underwent many operations but his party never approached the police or Rangers for the release of anyone arrested for his alleged involvement in criminal activities.

“I hope that the Karachi operation will reach its logical conclusion,” he said.

Mr Siyal appreciated the performance of Sindh police saying that they succeeded in locating and arresting all suspects of the Jacobabad and Shikarpur bomb blasts.

Expressing his satisfaction over the law and order in Sindh, he observed that people were now travelling from one place to the other without any fear [of being kidnapped, looted or killed]. The system of providing police escort to passenger buses had been done away with due to the improved situation, he said.

In reply to a question, the home minister said that the Sindh government was not interfering in the investigations being conducted by the National Accountability Bureau including those concerning [former petroleum minister] Dr Asim Hussain.

Replying to another question, he said Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah effectively pleaded Sindh’s case with regard to census at the recent meeting of the Council of Common Interests in Islamabad.

Regarding the security situation in Shikarpur, Mr Siyal said the operation against criminals there would continue and “many no-go areas within the district’s katcha belt have already been cleared of criminals”.

Europe seen on cusp of new humanitarian crisis at Greece-Macedonia border
[REUTERS] The build-up of thousands of migrants colonists and refugees on Greece's northern borders is fast turning into a humanitarian disaster, the United Nations
...an idea whose time has gone...
said on Tuesday as the European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
prepared to offer more financial aid.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel
...current chancellor of Germany. She was educated in East Germany when is was still run by commies, but in 1989 got involved with the growing democracy movement when the Berlin Wall fell. Merkel is sometimes referred to by Germans as Mom...
said festivities at Greece's border with Macedonia on Monday - when migrants colonists battered down a gate and were tear-gassed - simply underlined the urgency with which the EU needed to act on the crisis.

But Austria - which last month limited the number of migrants colonists it lets through to 3,200 a day - stuck to its position that it did not want to become an overcrowded waiting room for thousands wanting to make it further north.

Croatia, which is also on what is now the well-trodden migrants colonists route northwards from Greece, said it might deploy its armed forces to help police control flows.

But near Idomeni, on the Greek-Macedonian border itself, a tent city mushroomed, prompting some despair among those trapped there. "Macedonian police put us here, the Greeks don't want us back," Yase Qued, a 16-year-old from Afghanistan, told Rooters.

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) called for better planning and accommodation for at least 24,000 it said were stuck in Greece, including 8,500 at Idomeni.

"Europe is on the cusp of a largely self-induced humanitarian crisis," U.N. refugee agency front man Adrian Edwards told a news briefing.

"The crowded conditions are leading to shortages of food, shelter, water and sanitation. As we all saw yesterday, tensions have been building, fuelling violence and playing into the hands of people smugglers," he said.

He is noted for his vocal anti-American railing in the National Assembly. He wears a wig, but you probably guessed that. since hair doesn't grow naturally in that shape or texture...
Those falling under the net would be denied facilities such as permission to open and operate bank accounts and obtain mobile phone SIMs and driving licences.

"While every effort would continue towards safeguarding the rights of the citizens, we will not falter in fulfilling our commitment towards ensuring security of the motherland and to check the elements bringing bad name to the country in one way or the other," the interior minister said.

He said that contrary to the propaganda of "detractors and panic peddlers", the law and order situation had significantly improved as a result of tireless efforts of law enforcement agencies. "We, however, need to consolidate and build on these gains and to redouble our efforts for further improving the law and order situation," he added.

During the meeting, a host of issues were discussed, including various measures being taken against the members of proscribed organizations, human traffickers and proclaimed offenders, the progress made so far by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in mega corruption cases, various measures being taken to purge FIA from corrupt elements, institutionalisation of system of rewards in various departments of the interior ministry, capacity building of FIA and police and efforts being made by the Islamabad administration and police towards improving law and order and making the federal capital a crime-free zone.

Security of media houses, schools, commercial centres and steps taken for community policing also came under discussion.

The meeting decided to cancel licences of all those security companies which will not provide their particulars to the administration.

FIA officials informed the meeting that in the ongoing campaign against human traffickers, 1,011 people have been taken into custody -- 290 proclaimed offenders, 17 most wanted traffickers, 84 court absconders and 620 general arrests.

The meeting was told that the Economic Crime Wing of FIA recovered Rs2.4 billion during 2014-15. The recoveries during 2011-12 were Rs706 million. The Anti-Corruption Wing recovered Rs14.8 billion during 2014-15 and Rs7.1 billion during 2011-12.

Home Front: WoT
FBI Chief Admits 'Mistake' With iPhone in Wake of San Bernardino Attack
The head of the FBI admitted today his agents made a “mistake” after finding an iPhone left behind by one of the San Bernardino, California, shooters -- a misstep he acknowledged “made it hard” for investigators to access the information that federal authorities are now seeking in a growing dispute with Apple.

However, speaking to a House panel, FBI Director James Comey said the Justice Department and Apple would still be caught in a tense legal battle because -- even if the FBI hadn’t erred -- there is “no way we would have gotten everything” from the iPhone. Comey insisted the FBI has an obligation to conduct a complete and “competent” investigation into the attack on Dec. 2, 2015, when Syed Farook and his wife, Tashfeen Malik, killed 14 of Farook’s coworkers and injured 22 others at a work holiday party.

“If I didn’t do that, I ought to be fired, honestly,” Comey added.

The device at issue was provided to Farook by his employer, the San Bernardino County government. And in the wake of the assault, the FBI asked county officials to remotely reset the password for the Apple iCloud account associated with the device.

"Since the iPhone 5C was locked when investigators seized it during the lawful search on December 3rd, a logical next step was to obtain access to iCloud backups for the phone in order to obtain evidence related to the investigation in the days following the attack," the FBI said in a previous statement. But resetting the password “had the effect of eliminating the possibility of an auto-backup," according to the FBI.

"Even if the password had not been changed and Apple could have turned on the auto-backup and loaded it to the cloud, there might be information on the phone that would not be accessible without Apple's assistance as required by the All Writs Act order, since the iCloud backup does not contain everything on an iPhone," the FBI said in its statement. "As the government's pleadings [in current litigation] state, the government's objective was, and still is, to extract as much evidence as possible from the phone."

A federal judge in California ordered Apple to help the FBI hack into Farook’s phone, but the company is fighting the order. On Monday, a federal judge presiding over a separate criminal case in Brooklyn, New York, sided with Apple, saying federal authorities had no legal authority to compel such assistance from Apple.
Disagreeing judges? That's all it takes to get to the Supreme Court. Someday...
In his testimony to the House Judiciary Committee today, Comey took issue with claims that the FBI wants Apple to create a “backdoor” into iPhones. There already is a door into iPhones, Comey declared, and the FBI now wants Apple to take the “vicious guard dog away” and “let us pick the lock.”

Specifically, the FBI and Justice Department want Apple to turn off the feature that erases an iPhone's data after 10 failed attempts to unlock the device, so that investigators can run all possible combinations to break the four-digit passcode on Farook's phone.

In his own testimony before the same House panel today, a top Apple executive said the matter was something for Congress -- not a court -- to resolve. And he warned that if Apple is forced to break into Farook’s phone, the code they create could endanger the privacy of people across the world.

“Hackers and cyber criminals could use this to wreak havoc on our privacy and personal safety,” Apple’s top lawyer, general counsel Bruce Sewell, told the House panel in prepared remarks. “Should the FBI be allowed to stop Apple, or any company, from offering the American people the safest and most secure product it can make?”
Not to mention, the Rooshuns and Chinese will want the code, and they're more persuasive than the FBI...
During his testimony today, Comey dismissed the notion that Apple’s assistance in the San Bernardino case would impact other phones, reiterating his belief that any code Apple created to help in this case would only work on Farook’s phone.
It will be a proof of concept -- the FBI will demand the same code, modified for every phone they want to crack. And, others will see how it was done and find ways to do it themselves. And, every terrorist with an ounce of brains will start to use 3rd party encryption on top of whatever the phone does -- they're likely doing that anyway.

Germany Considers Military Training Mission in Tunisia
Tunisia’s government backs Germany’s plan to send troops to the country to train troops from neighboring Libya for the fight against ISIS group, the Tunisian defense minister said on Tuesday.

Representatives of the defense and foreign ministries would hold talks in Tunis on Thursday and Friday about how the German military could lend support in a training mission, Bild am Sonntag Newspaper reported.

It said the engagement encompasses training Tunisian soldiers first and could eventually be extended to Libyan soldiers by setting up a training camp in Tunisia, as a contribution toward regional stability.

“The ISIS terror is threatening all of North Africa,” German Defence Minister Ursula von der Leyen told the newspaper.

She said it was therefore essential “to make every effort to support countries struggling with democracy such as Tunisia”.

“And if its direct neighbor Libya manages to put in place a unity government one day, its security forces could also benefit from established training facilities in Tunisia,” she added.

The ISIS militants have taken advantage of political disarray and a security vacuum in Libya to expand their presence there, taking control of the city of Sirte and staging a number of attacks.

Western officials are deliberating on ways to fight the group, including the use of air strikes and Special Forces operations, though plans for outside assistance have been hindered by the failure of a United Nations-backed unity government in Libya to win wide approval in the country.

Last week a German delegation visited Tunisia to discuss a training program for Libyan forces.

“We agree on the principle of the project,” Tunisian Defence Minister Farhat Harchani said in an interview with the TAP state news agency.

He offered no details on the nature or the timing of the training, but said Tunisian forces would also take part.

“We will participate in the formation of the nucleus of the Libyan army and security forces in Tunisia. This is our duty and we will help Libya to get it done,” he said.

Tunisia has been struggling to contain its own militant threat, and thousands of Tunisians have gone to fight in Iraq, Syria and Libya. Tunisia suffered two devastating attacks targeting its vital tourist sector last year, in the beach resort of Sousse and on the National Bardo Museum in Tunis that together left 60 people dead. Both were claimed by ISIS. Authorities say the attackers trained in Libya before returning home.

In order to stop militants from crossing the border, Tunisia recently completed a 200-km (125 mile) barrier consisting of an earth wall and trenches along its frontier with Libya. European and U.S. military trainers are to instruct Tunisian forces on improving electronic surveillance there.

Britain said on Monday it had sent a team of 20 military personnel to Tunisia to deliver mobile patrolling and surveillance training on the border. It said an analogous training mission had been conducted at the end of last year.

Afghan women accused of adultery face invasive virginity tests: AIHRC
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The Independent Human Rights Commission of Afghanistan (AIHRC) has voiced concerns regarding the invasive virginity tests the Afghan women and girls are going through after they are accused of adultery.

In its latest report, AIHRC said the women are subjected to the invasive tests after accused of moral crimes by the judiciary institutions of the country.

The report further added that the victims are subjected to the tests without their consent which are usually accepted by the judiciary institutions, making it a basis for the trial of the accused.

AIHRC questioned the method of the tests, saying the tests are being conducted without considering the scientific basis of such tests, persistent corruption in government institutions, and technical insufficiency.

The rights organization also expressed concern

s regarding the eloping of the women, saying the majority of the women are fleeing from the houses due to growing domestic violence with forced marriages remaining a top motive for the girls to abandon their families.

The girls are often accused of adultery while the men are accused of kidnapping and are tried by the judiciary institutions, AIHRC said, adding that the security institutions are introducing the girls to Forensic where they undergo virginity tests to confirm they were not involved in adultery.

The 17-page report by AIHRC has been prepared based on findings and interviews of 53 women serving in jails on adultery charges in 12 provinces, the rights organization said.

AIHRC also added that the prisoners interviewed by the rights organization were between 13 to 45 years of age with 45 of them incarcerated

New Libya Fighting Chaos
Washington- The fall of Col. Muammar el-Qaddafi seemed to vindicate Hillary Clinton since after his fall, militias refused to disarm, neighbors fanned a civil war, and ISIS found refuge.

The US is considering another intervention in Libya, yet this time to fight ISIS; but the question remains whether a military solution is possible in this case.

The current chaos in Libya is certainly due to the military intervention in the country. Back then, Clinton found herself surrounded by British, French, and other doubters.

The military intervention marked a horrible start to the new era for Libya. The dictator was dragged from the sewer pipe where he was hiding, tossed around by furious rebel soldiers, beaten and stabbed.

A cellphone video showed the pocked face of Col. Muammar el-Qaddafi, “the Leader” who had terrified Libyans for four decades, looking frightened and bewildered, knowing he will soon be dead.

The first news reports of Colonel Qaddafi’s capture and killing in October 2011 reached the US Secretary of State in Kabul, Afghanistan, where she had just sat for a televised interview. “Wow!” she said, looking at an aide’s BlackBerry before cautiously noting that the report had not yet been confirmed. Nonetheless, Hillary Clinton seemed impatient for a conclusion to the multinational military intervention she had done so much to organize, and in a rare unguarded moment, she dropped her reserve and exclaimed: “We came, we saw, he died!”

Two days earlier, Mrs. Clinton had taken a triumphal tour in the Libyan capital, Tripoli, and for weeks top aides had been circulating data describing her starring role in the events that had led to this moment.

In one of the memos, her top policy aide, Jake Sullivan, wrote, demonstrating Mrs. Clinton’s “leadership, US political orientation toward Libya from the beginning till the end.” The memo’s language put her at the center of everything: “HRC announces … HRC directs … HRC travels … HRC engages,” it read.

It was a brag sheet for a cabinet member with presidential goals and the Clinton team’s eagerness to claim credit for her prompted eye-rolling at the White House and the Pentagon. Some couldn’t prevent themselves from laughing after hearing her aides saying that she had practically called in the airstrikes in Libya herself.

However, there were plenty of signs that the triumph won’t last long and that the vacuum left by Colonel Qaddafi’s death will provoke violence acts and divisions.

In fact, on the same day that Mr. Sullivan compiled his laudatory memo in August, the US Under-Secretary General for Middle East Political Affairs, Jeffrey D. Feltman, had sent a lengthy email with an utterly different tone about what he had seen on his own visit to Libya.

The country’s interim leaders seemed shockingly disengaged, he wrote, indicating that Mahmoud Jibril, the acting Prime Minister, who had helped persuade Mrs. Clinton to back the opposition, was commuting from Qatar, making only “cameo” appearances in Libya.

In addition, a leading rebel general had been assassinated, underscoring the hazard of “revenge killings.” Islamists were moving aggressively to seize power and members of the anti-Qaddafi coalition were financing them.

Mr. Feltman reported an alarming lassitude regarding a task of utmost urgency, which was disarming the militia fighters who had dethroned the dictator but now threatened the nation’s unity. Mr. Jibril and his associates, he wrote, “tried to disregard the problem that militias could pose on Libya after Qaddafi’s era.”

In short, the well-intentioned men nominally running Libya were relying on “luck, tribal discipline and the ‘gentle character’ of the Libyan people” for a peaceful future. “We will continue to push on this,” he wrote.

In the ensuing months, Mr. Feltman’s memo proved hauntingly prescient. But Libya’s Western allies, preoccupied by domestic politics and the crisis in Syria, soon relegated the country to the back burner.

On the other hand, Mrs. Clinton would be mostly a bystander as the country dissolved into chaos, leading to a civil war that destabilized the region, provoking

the refugee crisis in Europe and allowing ISIS to establish a Libyan haven that the United States is now desperately trying to contain.

“Nobody will say it’s too late. No one wants to say it,” said Mahmud Shammam, who served as chief spokesman for the interim government. “But I’m afraid there is very little time left for Libya,” he added.

Media reports referred to Mrs. Clinton’s one brief visit to Libya in October 2011 as a “victory lap,” but the declaration was definitely premature.

During her visit, security precautions were extraordinary, with ships positioned off the coast in case an emergency evacuation was needed. As it turned out, there was no violence, but the wild celebratory scenes in the Libyan capital that day actually highlighted the divisions in the new order.

“I am proud to stand here on the soil of a free Libya,” she declared, standing alongside Mr. Jibril. “It is a great privilege to see a new future for Libya being born. No doubt the work ahead is quite challenging, but the Libyan people have demonstrated the resolve and resilience necessary to achieve their goals.”

Yet everywhere Mrs. Clinton went; there was the other face of the rebellion. Crowds of Kalashnikov-toting fighters, or revolutionaries, as they called themselves, mobbed her motorcade and pushed to glimpse the American celebrity. Mostly they cheered, and Mrs. Clinton remained poised, but her security guards watched the uproar with much concern.

Mrs. Clinton certainly understood how hard the transition to a post-Qaddafi Libya would be. In February, before the allied bombing began, she noted that political change in Egypt had proved tumultuous despite strong institutions.

“So imagine how difficult it will be in a country like Libya,” she said. “Qaddafi ruled for 42 years by basically destroying all institutions and never even creating an army, so that it could not be used against him.”

Earlier, the President’s National Security Adviser, Tom Donilon, had created a planning group called “Post-Qaddafi.”

Mrs. Clinton helped organize the Libya Contact Group, a powerhouse collection of countries that had pledged to work for a stable and prosperous future. By early 2012, she had flown to a dozen international meetings on Libya, part of a grueling

schedule of official travel in which she kept competitive track of miles traveled and countries visited.

For his part, Dennis B. Ross, a veteran Middle East expert at the National Security Council, argued unsuccessfully for an outside peacekeeping force; but with oil beginning to flow again from Libyan wells, he was pleasantly surprised by how things seemed to be going.

“I had unease that there wasn’t more being done more quickly to create cohesive security forces,” Mr. Ross said. “But the last six months of 2011, carried a fair amount of optimism.

#1  Knowledge of Libyan history would have demonstrated that only a strong hand could unify Libya. First it was the Turks, then Italians, then King Idris I, and finally Qadaffi and the military that held the fissiparous nation of clans and sects together. With Qadaffi gone, and no strong leader to replace him, the competing powers in the Cyrenaica, Tripoli and Fezzan regions chose their own future and chaos was the result. The result was one of the greatest foreign policy blunders of this or any American administration.

Pakistan wanted Durand Line recognition to improve ties with Afghanistan: Karzai
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The former Afghanistan's Caped President Hamid Maybe I'll join the Taliban Karzai
... A former Baltimore restaurateur, now 12th and current President of Afghanistan, displacing the legitimate president Rabbani in December 2004. He was installed as the dominant political figure after the removal of the Taliban regime in late 2001 in a vain attempt to put a Pashtun face on the successor state to the Taliban. After the 2004 presidential election, he was declared president regardless of what the actual vote count was. He won a second, even more dubious, five-year-term after the 2009 presidential election. His grip on reality has been slipping steadily since around 2007, probably from heavy drug use...
said Tuesday that the Pak leadership wanted recognition of Durand Line during his tenure in a bid to improve ties between the two nations.

In his inaugural address at the Raisina Dialogue in New Delhi, the former President recalled his visits to Pakistain while serving the nation as the Afghanistan's Caped President, saying "During my presidency, I visited Pakistain more than twenty times, with utmost enthusiasm and sincerity, to address our mutual concerns and to take concrete steps towards improving our political and economic ties."

However,
today is that tomorrow you were thinking about yesterday...
he said "From the Pak perspective, peaceful and friendly relations with Afghanistan were conditioned on the recognition of the Durand line, one of the very negative legacies of the Colonial rule, and the right to influence the nature of our relations with one of our closest and oldest friends."

He stressed "In the past fifteen years, I have constantly underlined the impossibility of the recognition of the Durand Line by Afghanistan; while expressing Afghan desire for friendly and cooperative relations with Pakistain."

Karzai recalled the ups and downs with Pakistain during his tenure while noting the great economic rise of Asia led by global giants China and India, as well as the continuing rise of myrmidon extremism with deadly and painful consequences in the region.

He also recalled the historic position of the region which remained as the commercial, intellectual and spiritual hub of the world and noted the existing plethora of initiatives in the form of strategies to revive those routes and networks.

"As the Silk Route once cut across geographical barriers from Europe, India and China, we want Afghanistan to once again become a land-bridge connecting South Asia to Central Asia and the Middle East," Karzai said.

Europe
Refugees buying one-way tickets home after finding Germany intolerable
Germany, of course, has failed them. What other conclusion could you reach?
With a one-way ticket home to Iraq in his hands and seven months' worth of frustration over intransigent German bureaucracy in his heart, Gazwan Abdulhasen Abdulla gave up on his dreams of a better life in Europe.

Homesick and eager to be back with his wife and four small children in Basra,
Basra? Basra's not so bad. Little fighting other than the usual gangs and political spats. Why did he leave Basra in the first place?
Abdulla was giving up his refugee status as he boarded a crowded Iraqi Airways flight from Berlin's Tegel Airport to Baghdad that would whisk him and 150 other disillusioned former refugees back home in five hours. He had scraped together his last $325 for the flight to Iraq — a small fraction of the money he had paid to smugglers last summer to get to Germany by foot, bus and boat through Turkey, Greece, the Balkans and Austria.
And let that be a lesson to you. Usually it's harder to go home...
But now, after more than 1.1 million refugees from troubled lands such as Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan have trekked into Germany over the last 13 months, a small but growing number are heading home. The reasons are myriad, but include overcrowded refugee centers, exasperating bureaucracy, unfamiliar German food, a lack of jobs and a spreading sense of resentment from Germans who fear their country is being overrun by Muslims.
Germany and 'exasperating bureaucracy' have gone together since before the days of the Kaiser. Next time do your research before spending your life savings on a 5,000 mile trek to nowhere...
Many refugees say they are now happy to trade a cold, heartless and lonely life in one of Europe's richest countries for the violence, insecurity and poverty back home. And they say they have realized, rather belatedly, that smugglers had sold them a pack of lies about big houses, well-paying jobs and the life of luxury they would find in Germany.
NO! Smugglers lie?!?!? Just to take your money? Whoever heard of such a thing?
"I wanted to live in peace with my family as far away from war as possible," said Abdulla, a 37-year-old who had worked as a truck driver in Iraq. "But what I've seen in Europe is not what I dreamed about. It's not what [the smugglers] told me it would be.
I know it isn't your culture, sir, but perhaps you should have read Tolkien in your youth. He would have explained to you that you can never run from trouble -- no matter how far you go, it always finds you.
"The food was terrible, so disgusting that not even animals should be fed it.
Funny, our boys in Iraq and Afghanistan say the same thing about your food. I guess it depends on what you're used to...
They made us sleep in these cold, empty buildings and when someone said they were sick, they just ignored us. You could feel it everywhere that Germans looked down at us like we were bums.
Europeans feel smug and superior?
I miss my family and can't wait to get home."

Abdulla, like many of the refugees, had come to Germany on his own and figured his family could follow. But the German government, fearful that the number of refugees could increase fourfold if families were reunited, temporarily suspended the rules last year that allowed refugees to send for their family members.
It's temporary. They'll reinstate the rule. In about a hundred years...
Now it could take two to five years or more before their families might be allowed to move to Germany — an intolerable wait that is one of the main reasons that hundreds, perhaps thousands, of refugees are giving up on Germany every week, even as up to 3,000 arrive every day.
It's intolerable to wait? It's intolerable to play by the rules of your host? Golly gee, go back home and see what's "intolerable" there. But that's why you left, wasn't it...
The Iraqi Embassy in Berlin has issued more than 1,500 one-way travel documents for Iraqi refugees giving up on Germany in the last three months.

"There are a lot of Iraqis going home, but more and more Syrians are also coming in here to buy airplane tickets to fly back home," said Alaa Hadrous, 24, who came to Germany from Iraq as a child and now operates the Golf Reisen travel office next to a refugee center in the heart of Berlin.

"They see the Arabic writing on my storefront window and come in saying they want to go home," he said. "There are a lot of really sad stories."

Hadrous sees masses of exhausted refugees camped on the street in front of his shop at night — new arrivals who are sometimes forced to wait overnight for their asylum applications to be processed so that they can go to a shelter.

"It's really upsetting to me whenever I see little children outside freezing in the cold," he said, adding that he has often ended up sheltering such shivering families with small children in his small apartment nearby for the night. He said he noticed an increase late last year in the number of refugees coming to him for one-way tickets home.

"They started coming into my store," he said. "They've given up on Germany, even though some have only been here for a few weeks. They had the wrong idea and wrong expectations about Germany. People in Iraq told them they could live a carefree life in Germany."

A Syrian man, who gave only his first name, Abed, had just bought a one-way ticket to Lebanon after spending four weeks in Germany. He said life on his own in Germany was a lot harder than he expected and it was depressing when he found out his wife and daughter weren't allowed to join him.
What exactly did he 'expect'? A life on the dole? Two thousand Euros a month and a 3 bedroom flat? The quality of refugees has changed: at Bledsoe Island around 1890 you wouldn't have heard this nonsense...
"I miss my family a lot," he said. "I'd rather take a chance and risk dying with them in Syria than being in Germany without them."

The government's office for migration and refugees reported that 37,220 refugees obtained government financial aid to return to their home countries in 2015. Most of those were from countries in the Balkans and had little chance of being granted asylum. Only 724 of about 122,000 refugees from Iraq went home last year with German government assistance.

The migration agency points out, however, that it doesn't have a complete overview because many refugees pay for their own trips home.
There's one point in their favor...
"The numbers of refugees wanting to go home is growing every week — once they discover they can't bring their families here, they give up on Germany," said Ardalan Hassan, the head of the Dania Travel Agency in the Wedding district of Berlin.

"They thought they'd be warmly welcomed in Germany," he said. "Some thought they'd get a lot of money, that the state would give them big houses to live in.... It's only after they get here that they see how poor their prospects to earn a living are."
Guess they were all snookered by the smugglers, huh...
Hassan said that he tries to tell Iraqis to stay home in the first place, that life in Germany isn't as easy as they think. "But no one believes me," he said. "They have to see it themselves to believe how difficult it is here."

The increase in the number of refugees returning home could offer some unexpected relief to Chancellor Angela Merkel, who has come under attack for her open-door policies. Merkel has also subtly changed her message to the refugees from one of welcome in September 2015 — her immortal words of "We can do it" — to a more standoffish view in February.
She, like most other pols, can count to 50% plus 1...
"We expect that you'll go back to Syria once there's peace there and Islamic State has been defeated," Merkel said. "We expect you'll go back to your homes."

That might not be as far-fetched as it sounds. Germany allowed in 350,000 refugees from the Balkan wars in the early 1990s. By 1998, after the wars had ended, about 70% had returned, voluntarily or otherwise, to Serbia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Albania and Slovenia.

Ahmed, a 24-year-old from Irbil, Iraq, came to Germany hoping to study engineering. But after eight months waiting in vain for his asylum request to be processed, he gave up and flew home in mid-February.

"We came here to Germany to live free but we're not free here," he said before he left. "We've got more freedom at home in Iraq than here.... I'm tired of being treated like an animal, of living in a giant room with hundreds of others and getting horrible food and having to take cold showers. I can't wait to get home."
The best place for Iraqi refugees is .. Iraq. Syrian refugees belong in Syria. And so on. Europe should work to create safe-zones in those countries. Europe is going to pay one way or the other.
