Pakistan ROP Celebrates Easter In Park. 60 Dead
An explosion ripped through a crowded Pakistan park where Christians were celebrating Easter on Sunday, killing at least 60 people, officials told the Associated Press.

About 300 people were injured when a bomb detonated in the parking area of Gulshan-e-Iqbal Park in the eastern city of Lahore.

A suicide bomber is suspected of being responsible for the blast, though authorities continue to investigate. Ball bearings, which may have been shrapnel from the bomb, were found at the scene, according to AFP.

The explosion reportedly occurred just outside the exit gate and near rides for children

"When the blast occurred, the flames were so high they reached above the trees and I saw bodies flying in the air," Hasan Imran, 30, told Reuters.

A police superintendent said most of the dead were women and children, according to Reuters. Salman Rafiq, an adviser to the chief minister of Punjab province, said many of the wounded were in a critical condition.

'Leavenworth 10' languish in military prison, while Gitmo detainees freed
[Fox] The Obama administration is emptying the military’s Guantanamo Bay detention facility of avowed terrorists captured fighting in Afghanistan and Iraq, but several American service members languish in another military prison for actions on those same battlefields that their supporters say merit clemency, if not gratitude.

Among the prison population at Fort Leavenworth, in Kansas, are remaining members of the so-called "Leavenworth 10," convicted service members doing terms ranging from 10 to 40 years for heat-of-the-battle decisions their supporters say saved American lives.

"The very people who protect our freedoms and liberties are having their own freedoms and liberties taken away," said retired U.S. Army Col. Allen West, a former congressman and political commentator. "I think it’s appalling and no one is talking about this issue."

The "Leavenworth 10" is the name given to a fluctuating number of men housed at Leavenworth for actions in Iraq and Afghanistan that their supporters say were justified. Over the years, a handful have been paroled, and more have been incarcerated.

Among the more well-known cases is that of Army First Lt. Clint Lorance, who is serving a 20-year sentence for ordering his men to shoot two suspected Taliban scouts in July 2012 in the Kandahar Province of Afghanistan. Lorance had just taken command of the platoon after the prior leader and several others were killed days before. The Taliban suspects were on motorcycles and matched descriptions given by a pilot who flew over the area earlier and spotted them as scouts.

AG Lynch wants to let nation break law without consequences, system rigged against criminals
[NY Post] As New York moves to decriminalize low-level offenses, arguing enforcement is "rigged against communities of color," other large cities are coming under pressure from the Justice Department to do the same thing.

Attorney General Loretta Lynch has issued a warning to municipal and state judges across the country that their courts could lose federal funding if they don’t ease up on fines and arrest warrants for minor crimes involving poor offenders, indigent minorities in particular.

In lieu of fines and jail time, Lynch urges the nation’s 6,500 municipal courts to provide an avenue for offenders to perform "community service" or take advantage of "amnesty days," whereby outstanding arrest warrants are cleared for nominal fees.

Failure to comply with these policies could trigger a Ferguson-style discrimination investigation. Already, Lynch says she’s "evaluating discrimination complaints against several court systems."

#4  Although it totally contradicts the Broken Windows policing model that turned New York from one giant crime scene into a livable city, I propose a Federal Crime Stamps program to help our poor offenders and indigent minorities cope with the criminal justice system.

In addition to allowing them to escape the consequences of their actions, this program would teach them about future time and delayed gratification as they decide whether to spend their monthly allotment on a bunch of pissant misdemeanors or save up for a big juicy felony.

#5  The Left's version of justice is that everything is against the law. Whether or not you are prosecuted depends on how well you pay obeisance to the system and the ruling party.

In this way, your rights matter for nothing. Anyone and everyone can be prosecuted at any time, just for pissing off the wrong people.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
The Endless Ages of Purim
[SultanKnish] Tonight the celebration of the holiday of Purim begins. Purim is a Jewish holiday often neglected outside the more religious communities in America and the State of Israel because it commemorates an attempt to exterminate the Jews. And we all know that stopped being a problem long ago.

If Purim had culminated with some smart power diplomacy and a lesson on tolerance, liberal Jews might be more inclined to celebrate it. Unfortunately it ends with a genocidal madman being hung from a tree and the Jews fighting for their lives, winning and slaughtering their enemies.

And instead of feeling guilty about it, their descendants eat pastries, dress up in costumes and get drunk. At least those of their descendants who believe in survival instead of surrender.

Liberal Jews complain about the difference of values they have with Israeli Jews who insist on survival instead of surrender. They have an even bigger difference of values with the Jews of the Bible. And with Jews throughout history. Not to mention with the religion of the Jewish people.

David Petraeus: Brexit would weaken the West's war on terror
[Telegraph] In an exclusive article for The Telegraph, the top US general and former CIA chief David Petraeus urges voters to stay in the European Union in the referendum"

"For the past century, British and American forces have fought together on numerous occasions in defense of our shared security and freedom. Together, our men and women in uniform turned back the tide of Nazi fascism that threatened human civilization and then stood united as allies in the long twilight struggle against the Soviet Union and communism. Today, British and American forces are once again together on the frontlines, this time in the fight against ISIS and al Qaeda, working to stop terrorists before they can strike us at home."

"I had the privilege of serving in uniform with British forces in Cold War Europe, Bosnia, Iraq, Afghanistan, and the greater Middle East. I considered our British comrades to rank with the finest men and women of any armed service in the world. And I know that my fellow American soldiers -- and those of the other coalition countries under my command -- valued very highly the professional expertise, capability, courage, and determination of our British partners on the battlefield."

Pentagon Militias, CIA Militias Turn On Each Other In Syria
[Daily Caller] Rebel militias in Syria backed by both the Pentagon and the Central Intelligence Agency are starting to turn on each other in a most gruesome and farcical fashion, as U.S. military planners scramble to regain some semblance of control.

The rebel groups are fighting near the Turkish border in Aleppo, Syria, and while the fighting has already gone on for several months, it’s now taking a turn for the worse in this now five-year-old civil war, The Los Angeles Times reports.

The Pentagon is mostly funneling resources to Kurdish troops in northern Syria, while the CIA is providing TOW missiles to rebel groups from its base of operations out of Turkey. Kurdish troops are mainly focused on taking out the Islamic State, but the CIA is covertly keeping the pressure on Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. Both groups are now skirmishing as they close in on Aleppo.

#10  Besoeker,

Methinks that Stephens was about to blow the trumpet on a big CIA arms deal and got himself in the middle of it. Because what the CIA was doing was highly sensitive, the POTUS and SECSTATE pulled the plug on his security and let things play out.

And so do I. Some indication or evidence might be found in Obama's actions and hand-off immediately following the attack. Hoping to escape the blast radius of warring parties Clinton and Brennan, Obama takes flight to the campaign fund raising circuit where he is most comfortable. Former Director CIA, then SECDEF Leon Panetta takes charge of the ugly details.

Brennan and the Klingons were the physical, or 'on-site' clean up team. Notice how seldom Brennan has discussed Benghazi. Foggy Bottom became the media and damage control component, whilst POTUS attempted to secure his role as sympathetic adult and enforcer of silence and inaction among senior military leaders.

#13  Methinks that Stephens was about to blow the trumpet on a big CIA arms deal and got himself in the middle of it... I believe the Foggy Bottom vs. Klingon is exactly what happened.

I take the opposite tack. Stephens got the ambassadorship due to his relationships with the various groups that rose to fight Qadaffi. It's likely that he liked playing "spy". That State took the actions it did prior to the attack indicates that it was cooperating (at the least) with Langley.

Bengazi got back burner-ed but not because of a Foggy Bottom vs. Klingon intramural.

#14  It's likely that he liked playing "spy". That State took the actions it did prior to the attack indicates that it was cooperating (at the least) with Langley.

Your theory certainly has merit. The one man who could validate Stephens as a "spy" would be the Chief of Station, whom of course, we've not heard from. Nor will we ever. My gut feeling is, if he was 'spying,' he was doing so for DoS, the Beest, her internal intelligence and CT apparatus, and not the Klingons.

Over zealous Clinton diplodink and deal maker gone bad is more likely. Buggered the Klingon work project as well, so their sympathy meter never left it's peg.

No argument it got "back burner-ed." Stephens may have not even been cold yet when that decision was made.

Posted by: Besoeker || 03/27/2016 17:42 Comments || Top||

#15  Over zealous Clinton diplodink and deal maker gone bad is more likely.

Actually, he'd been Foreign Service since 1991. Fairly good record, mostly in the Middle East. Spoke Arabic and French She did hand-pick him for the job, though. And she knew him personally.

So, your theory too has "merit." Though I'd wipe the flecks of spittle off it before presenting it, myself.

Muslim Tries to Be Moderate, Gets Killed
A popular shopkeeper who wished Christians a happy Easter on Facebook was stabbed to death in what police in Scotland say was a "religiously prejudiced" attack carried out by a fellow Muslim, it was reported Saturday.

A vigil was held Friday night in Glasgow’s Shawlands neighborhood in memory of Asad Shah who was killed the day before-- a few hours after he apparently posted messages on Facebook that said "Good Friday and very happy Easter, especially to my beloved Christian nation."

"Let’s follow the real footstep of beloved holy Jesus Christ and get the real success in both worlds," one of the messages said.

Police said a 32-year-old man has been arrested in connection with Shah’s death. Police said the suspect is Muslim. He was not been identified.

Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon joined the vigil in support of Shah and his family.

"Moved to be one of hundreds tonight as Shawlands united in grief for Asad Shah and support for his family," Sturgeon tweeted afterward, the BBC reported Saturday.

According to the BBC, those attending the memorial were encouraged to bring a daffodil. Those at the gathering laid flowers and lit candles.

"It was very respectful," vigil organizer Eildon Dyer told the BBC. "There were a lot of people clearly very upset. There were a lot of tears and lots and lots of flowers."

Dyer added: "Everybody has said he was the nicest man. He was clearly much-loved. Everybody had nice stories to tell about him and warm stories. It's just very, very sad."

Scottish police promise a full investigation into Shah’s death.

Greece arrests six people for forging asylum seekers' documents
[REUTERS] Greek police tossed in the slammer
Keep yer hands where we can see 'em, if yez please!
six people on Saturday in an operation to break up a gang which counterfeited documents for asylum seekers on a Greek island, the coastguard said.

The criminal group was active on the island of Kos, the coastguard said in a statement, adding that the authorities seized computers, cameras and a large number of fake documents and mobile phones from several houses on the island.

About one million refugees and migrants colonists arrived to Greece last year, fleeing conflict in the Middle East and beyond and seeking to reach wealthier Western European countries.

The European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
and The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
have agreed to stop the flow of migrants colonists to Europe in return for political and financial concessions for Ankara, sealing off the main route by which people poured across the Aegean islands, including Kos.

About 50,000 refugees and migrants colonists were in Greece on Saturday, many living in squalid conditions in tents near its northern border with Macedonia, waiting for a border to open.

Under the EU-Turkey deal, hundreds of new arrivals have been detained since Sunday. Refugees or migrants colonists whose applications fail will be sent back to Turkey.

Kurd rocket artillery hits ISIS positions in Mosul
[ARA News] ERBIL – Peshmerga forces launched grad and katyusha rockets at the ISIS-held Iraqi northwestern city of Mosul from the Naweran frontline for the second time, military sources said.

“It has been going on for a whole day, you can see grad and katyusha rockets. They [Peshmerga] have been launching them all day. They have brought four trucks with rocket launchers,” Ryan O’Leary, a US fighter in the Peshmerga ranks told ARA News.

“There are also non-stop airstrikes and artillery attacks on ISIS position in Mosul. The Turkish tanks have been hitting them [ISIS] as well,” he added.

“Since noon, 15 to 20 missiles have been hitting ISIS every hour, I don’t think they hit Mosul city itself, but the outskirts,” he said.

However, the Islamic State confirmed the Peshmerga forces hit the city.

“The Peshmerga forces indiscriminately shell the Nur and Bakr neighborhoods on the western bank of Mosul,” Islamic State’s semi official news agency Amaq said on Friday.

“In Naweran frontline, they hit the Xursabad village in the hands of Daesh [ISIS] with rockets,” Peshmerga officer Islam Chali told ARA News. “Moreover, the same day also at the Hardan frontline, they attacked the Daesh-controlled Ayadhiya village, near Mosul,” he added.

This is not the first time Peshmerga forces start launching rocket attacks on ISIS forces. Since January 2015, Kurdish forces have fired hundreds of rockets at ISIS-positions in Mosul.

Kurds shoot down ISIS drone in Mosul

[ARA News] The Kurdish Peshmerga forces shot down a drone from the Islamic State [ISIS] on Friday evening near the Keske Junction on the Mosul frontline.

“Peshmerga forces managed to shoot down a aircraft used by Daesh [ISIS] to observe and photograph Peshmerga positions,” Islam Chali, a Peshmerga officer told ARA News.

The drone was used by ISIS to carry out surveillance on Peshmerga positions.

The Islamic State uses surveillance drones bought at the black market to spy on “enemy” positions.

Moreover, the ISIS group uses drone footage in their propaganda videos against their enemies.

When the Islamic State attacked the Kurdish city of Kobane in northern Syria they published drone footage to show their various suicide attacks in the city.

The Kurdish Peshmerga recaptured the strategic junction of Keske from ISIS in January 2015, cutting off one of the main supply lines between the ISIS strongholds of Mosul and Raqqa.

More IS murders in Sirte
Tripoli, 26 March 2016:

IS reportedly murdered three Libyan army soldiers yesterday in Sirte though pictures released by the terrorists show only two men being killed with a shot to the back of the head.

It is unclear where the soldiers were captured. One report has it that they were picked up in their home town of Ajdabiya where they had gone on leave from Benghazi.

IS also posted pictures of floggings yesterday, carried out, like the executions, after Friday prayers.

Meanwhile in Tripoli, two Bangladeshis have been kidnapped, it is feared by IS. The Bangladeshi online newspaper BDNews24 reported that Asaduzzaman Russell and a friend had gone out yesterday to buy groceries when they were chased and seized by five armed men in a car. Another Tripoli friend, who telephoned Russell’s brother in Bangladesh, said that he believed that the gunmen were members of IS

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Mitch Landrieu Loses Court Battle That Will Expose Who Is Benefiting From Lucrative City Contracts
[THEHAYRIDE] Mayor Mitch Landrieu just lost a major court-battle that will demand he release lists of who is receiving lucrative city contracts.

Landrieu has been battling with the Lens after they placed a public information request for the city’s purchasing database, according to a report by Robert McClendon of NOLA.com.

The city was fighting the Lens, claiming making the list of city contractors public would include personal information and should therefore not be subject to public records requests.

But, the records being fought over normally do not include personal information, despite what the administration claimed.

Now, Landrieu’s city government must work with the Lens in releasing the purchasing database to the public, which will show just who is making tons off the city’s lucrative contracts.

US Navy captain goes to jail for bribery
Final (we hope) follow-up on a story we covered last year.
US Navy Captain Daniel Dusek has been sentenced to more than three years and eight months in jail for his role in providing classified information to a foreign defense contractor in exchange for prostitutes and luxury gifts, the Department of Justice announced in a statement, Sputnik reported.

"The highest-ranking official charged in a massive Navy bribery scandal was sentenced in federal court today to 46 months in prison for giving classified information to a foreign defense contractor in exchange for prostitutes, luxury travel and other gifts," the statement read on Friday.

In January 2015, 49-year-old Dusek pleaded guilty to a single count of conspiracy to commit bribery, and admitted he used his influence to help defense contractor Glenn Defense Marine Asia (GDMA) advance its business.

Dusek served then as Deputy Director of Operations for the Seventh Fleet Yokosuka, Japan, and later as executive officer of the US ship Essex as well as commanding officer of the US ship Bonhomme Richard.

The Navy captain admitted that for decades, GDMA had provided port services to US Navy ships in exchange for "meals, alcohol, entertainment, gifts, dozens of nights and incidentals at luxury hotels and the services of prostitutes."

Dusek added that he had given Navy ship schedules to the GDMA office in Japan and even emailed them directly to the company’s chairman Leonard Glenn Francis as well as other employees "on dozens of occasions."

According to the Justice Department, Francis had asked Dusek to use his influence to steer the US aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln and its associated strike group to Port Klang in Malaysia, a port terminal owned by the GDMA chairman.

Dusek said in an e-mail exchange with GDMA that he would "make it happen" and was able to get other officials on board.

The Justice Department noted the port visit cost the United States nearly $1.6 million.

Ten individuals have been charged for their connection to the bribery scheme and nine have pleaded guilty, including Dusek.

Also doesn't preclude a court-martial. Probably will not happen, but the threat is there. Then there's this:

Sooo... expect whatever action taken by the secretary will be low-key and quietly done.

More deaths as Zawia Warshefana fighting continues
Tripoli, 26 March 2016:

A bloody 24 hours in Zawia has seen at least eight more deaths, including the execution of six men, five of them brothers and the slaying by shellfire of an Indian nurse and her baby son.

The bodies of the six men were found with gunshots wounds to the head and clear signs of torture. Pictures show that their hands had been bound behind them.

The Al-Moudi brothers, Sabri, Naji, Ashraf, Ehab and Essam, aged between 35 and 19 and their 32 year-old friend Majdi Shushan were seized yesterday from the Moudi family home in Zawia by an armed group. The town’s police police spokesman, said they had been abducted by “a gang from Warshefana” as part of the continuing violence between the two rival communities, in which 11 men died on Thursday. A large crowd of mourners attended the funerals of the six men this afternoon.

The Indian nurse Suni Sathyan, 31 and her toddler son Pranev were killed when a shell exploded in their Zawia apartment. Her husband Vipin Kumar was out of the building at the time. The Indian foreign ministry has said that Sathyan was one of 27 Indian medical staff still working at Zawia hospital. The ministry repeated its call for all Indian nationals to leave Libya immediately. It is unclear who fired the deadly shell.

Meanwhile there are unconfirmed reports that a Zawia resident and his sister were fatally wounded and his wife and two year old daughter seriously injured when they tried to run a Warshefana roadblock yesterday. The man was reportedly rushing his daughter to Tripoli for emergency treatment.

Mohammed's lawyer, Anser Farooq, said Mohammed was arrested on Friday and appeared in court in Brampton, west of Toronto, on Saturday. Farooq says the arrest involved "a number of" terrorism offences but that his client was not charged with any.

According to the police statement, Mohammed was charged with carrying a concealed weapon and possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace. There were no immediate details on specific allegations.

Farooq said the weapon in question was a knife.

Mohammed will appear in court again on Tuesday. There is no immediate indication on how he intended to plead.

North Korea video depicts imagined submarine attack on Washington
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] North Korea released a new propaganda video Saturday menacingly titled "Last Chance", showing a submarine-launched nuclear missile laying waste to Washington and concluding with the US flag in flames.

The four-minute video romps through the history of US-Korean relations and ends with a digitally manipulated sequence showing a missile surging through clouds, swerving back to the earth and slamming into the road in front of Washington’s Lincoln Memorial.

The US Capitol building explodes in the impact and a message flashes up on the screen in Korean: "If US imperialists budge an inch toward us, we will immediately hit them with nuclear (weapons)."

The video was published on the North’s propaganda website DPRK Today and shows images from the Korean War, the capture of US spy ship Pueblo in 1968 and the first crisis over North Korea’s nuclear program in the early 1990s.

Pyongyang has upped the rhetorical ante in recent weeks, with near daily threats of nuclear and conventional strikes against the South and the US mainland in response to large-scale South-US war games.

The threats have turned increasingly personal, and North Korea leader Kim Jong-Un on Friday watched a live-fire long-range artillery drill simulating a strike on the official residence of his South Korean counterpart.

Two-thirds of Venezuelans say Maduro presidency should end this year: poll
[REUTERS] Just under two-thirds of Venezuelans think Nicolas Maduro's presidency should end this year as the opposition pushes to oust him amid a grueling economic crisis, a survey by a leading pollster said.

Socialist-run Venezuela's struggling state-led economic model and a fall in the price of oil, its biggest export, have led to acute shortages of everything from rice to contraceptives, galloping three-digit inflation, and a profound recession.

Some 63.6 percent of Venezuelans say Maduro should quit this year or be removed via a recall referendum, versus some 29.3 percent of Venezuelans who want him to keep governing until 2019, when his mandate ends, according to the poll seen by Rooters on Saturday.

A whopping 90.9 percent of those surveyed by pollster Datanalisis in February viewed the country's situation as negative.

But Maduro's approval rating edged up to 33.1 percent from 32 percent in January, with negative views slipping to 63.4 percent from 66.4 percent.

The opposition's December legislative victory has re-polarized parts of the OPEC-member nation and Maduro has reaped rewards for labeling some of his political rivals as divided elitists incapable of solving the economic crisis.

Tens of thousands of Saleh-loving Yemenis mark a year of war, denounce Saudi-led offensive
[REUTERS] Tens of thousands of Yemenis took to the streets of the capital Sanaa on Saturday to mark the first anniversary of the war between a coalition led by Saudi Arabia against Iran-allied fighters who had overthrown the government.

More than 6,200 people have been killed since the coalition joined the war to try to stop the Houthis from taking control of Yemen the country and to restore President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi to power.

Hadi had been ousted after Houthi forces took over the capital Sanaa in September 2014. Saudi-led foreign forces intervened on the side of fighters loyal to Hadi six months later.

The demonstration, one of the biggest in Yemen since mass protests in 2011 forced President Ali Abdullah Saleh to step down, took place ahead of a ceasefire and U.N.-sponsored peace talks next month.

Saleh, an ally of the Houthis, made a rare appearance at the demonstration, his first since the war began, offering an olive branch to the Saudi-led coalition.

"We extend a hand of peace, the peace of the brave, for the direct talks with the Saudi regime without a return to the (U.N.) Security Council, which is incapable of resolving anything," Saleh told flag-waving supporters who also held up large posters of the former president.

The United Nations says the war has displaced some 2.3 million people and precipitated a humanitarian disaster across large parts of the Arab world's poorest country.

"We came out today to tell the world, that the Yemeni people remain steadfast, that we have endured a whole year despite the siege and the hunger and the airstrikes and the planes," said one participant, named Kamel al-Khodani.

murderous Moslem group last May, state media reported Saturday.

Russian jets carried out 40 air sorties near Palmyra in the past day, hitting 158 targets and killing over 100 murderous Moslems, Russia's defense ministry said.

Syrian troops and allied bully boyz have taken up positions in the three neighborhoods that are part of the modern town, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a Britannia-based monitoring group.

Palmyra, affectionately known as the "bride of the desert," once attracted tens of thousands of tourists a year. Islamic State drove out government forces in a matter of days and later demolished some of the best known monuments in the UNESCO World Heritage site. The bully boyz say the ancient ruins promote idolatry.

SCORCHED EARTH: Mitch Landrieu Cuts Off Washington Lobbyist After He Endorses Donald Trump
[THEHAYRIDE] New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu’s administration announced today that they have cut ties with former Rep. Bob Livington (R-LA), a Washington lobbyist for the city, after he endorsed GOP front-runner Donald Trump for president.
Mitch is the brother of former Senator for Life Mary Landrieu. The fambly bidnid is politix...
Landrieu confirmed that the city did in fact break with Livingston, who has represented the city in Washington DC since 2009, immediately following Livington’s Trump endorsement, according to a report by the Advocate.

The Landrieu family is actively fundraising and campaigning for Democrat front-runner Hillary Clinton
... sometimes described as the Smartest Woman in the World and at other times as Mrs. Bill, never as Another Richelieu ...
, telling the Advocate that the break with Livingston was because the administration wanted to "have a lobbying team that operates in a bipartisan manner and is able to deliver in a bipartisan way."

Landrieu said his cutting ties with Livingston was "mutual."

Landrieu along with his sister former Sen. Mary Landrieu (R-LA) held a fundraiser for Clinton months ago, costing attendees up to $27,ooo just to meet the former Secretary of State.

Mitch Landrieu has also attacked Trump in the past, calling his temporary pause on Muslim immigration into the US "absolutely disgraceful" and claimed the Donald has "poisonous rhetoric, which is reminiscent of David Duke’s racism."

IS Supporters Release Video with Exploding Eiffel Tower

It's ripped from a video game, as betrayed by the name of a video game designer with a U.S. company carved in the wood of the animated table.

The video is titled "A message to the Western Kafir [Disbelievers] from the Supporters of the Caliphate." It's narrated in English and subtitled in Arabic, and was posted on YouTube and other file-sharing sites.

It included Defense Department footage related to strikes on the Islamic State

and news footage of ISIS attacks.

"To you western Kafir, you that meant to fight Islam," the narrator warns, "vengeance is coming" against the "new crusaders," and "it will be welcomed by Allah's permission."

The video threatens to "rip your cross," showing video of ISIS members tearing down church crosses in the territory occupied by the Islamic State.

More dead migrants washed back to Libya
After a French minister said yesterday that there were 800,000 migrants waiting to leave Libya for European shores, Libyan coastguards today discovered 12 expectant travellers who would not be completing the trip.
A very polite, almost Monty Python way of saying that they're dead, dead, dead...
A dozen bodies were found washed ashore on a beach near Garabulli. Coastguard Abdullatif Al-Munser told the Chinese news agency Xinhua that the bodies were badly decomposed. This led him to believe that the craft carrying them had sunk several days earlier. Munser also said that he thought it probable that the migrants had been trying to head for the Italian island of Lampedusa.

It is likely that the dead were victims of the storms that hit the Libyan coast this week. The expected winter drop in attempted crossings did not happen. The United Nations Commissioner for Refugees believes that so far this year around 100,000 migrants have managed to make the journey to Europe. Many of them have been picked by European warships patrolling in or close to Libyan territorial waters.

There are unconfirmed reports that some people-smugglers have not bothered to inflate rubber rafts completely nor provided enough fuel to allow them to travel any great distance. This may indicate that they expected the migrants to be rescued sooner rather than later.

Europe
Raids uncover evidence of Europe-wide jihadist cell
[CBSNEWS] In the wake of the bombings in Belgium this week -- and increasing criticism of officials for their inability to thwart those attacks -- police in the last 24 hours have made at least four arrests in a series of raids in Belgium and four other countries across Europe.

New evidence shows disturbing evidence of just how big the terror network is across Europe.

CBS News' Allen Pizzey reports from Brussels that, as the effort to break the terrorist cell that carried out the bombings goes on, Belgian officials are coming under increased scrutiny and criticism for what is being seen as a series of intelligence failures.

In an operation that played out in full view, Belgian police shot a man who was spotted with a suspicious bag at a tram stop Friday.

The raids have uncovered what is being described as "alarming" evidence of a Europe-wide jihadist cell connected to the attacks in Belgium as well as those in Gay Paree in November.

DNA found on a boom jacket and a piece of cloth at the Bataclan concert hall massacre in Gay Paree and a bomb at the Stade de La Belle France stadium was that of Brussels airport bomber Najim Laachraoui.

In a stark contrast to other places where jihadi gunnies have struck, there has been no militaristic flag-waving in Brussels and no real backlash against Muslims.

As the Belgian prime minister put it in a speech to Parliament, "freedom ... the rule of law and tolerance are more than ever our reference points for moving forward together."

But moving forward is a slow process. With a manhunt on for at least two missing suspects, the authorities announced that Brussels' airport won't open before Tuesday at the earliest.

Georgia legislature passes anti-BDS bill
Georgia has been busy in the culture wars.
[IsraelTimes] Becomes sixth state in recent months to advance legislation targeting state procurement in entities boycotting Israel

The Georgia General Assembly passed legislation Thursday night that aims to deter corporate entities from partaking in the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) campaign against Israel.

The bill makes Georgia the sixth state in recent months -- along with South Carolina, Illinois, Florida, Arizona and Colorado -- to advance an anti-BDS measure through its legislature prohibiting state procurement with companies that engage political boycotts of the Jewish state.

Georgia Sen. Judson Hill, who sponsored the bill, said in a statement that the legislation is "a critical step forward in defending Georgia’s state economy and public policy" and referred to it as "taking a stand against the anti-Semitism and discrimination of the BDS movement."

It will now go to the office of Gov. Nathan Deal, who must decide whether to sign it into law.

Trump would consider halting U.S. oil purchases from Saudis: NYT
[REUTERS] Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump told the New York Times
...which still proudly displays Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize...
he would consider stopping U.S. oil purchases from Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
unless the Saudi government provide troops to fight Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
Trump's comment on Friday was included in a lengthy foreign policy interview published by the newspaper on Saturday and came in response to a question about whether, if elected president, he would halt oil purchases from U.S. allies unless they provided on-the-ground forces against Islamic State.

"The answer is, probably yes," Trump said, according to a transcript.

Trump has said the United States should be reimbursed by the countries it provides protection, even those with vast resources such as Saudi Arabia, a top oil exporter.

"And yet, without us, Saudi Arabia wouldn't exist for very long," Trump told the Times.
Not really. Oil is a commodity. If the Saudis don't sell to us they sell to someone else. But I wouldn't mind getting our country to the point where we could swear off the oil ticks...
"... We’re not being reimbursed for the kind of tremendous service that we’re performing by protecting various countries. Now Saudi Arabia’s one of them."

Trump also named in the interview retired Major General Gary Harrell, Major General Bert Mizusawa and retired Rear Admiral Charles Kubic as additional foreign policy advisors to the five named earlier this week who were criticized as obscure.

Trump has faced questions about his reluctance to reveal who was advising his campaign. He told the Times he was willing to rethink traditional U.S. alliances should he become president.

The pressure by the American auto companies and unions almost put involuntary quotas on them. They saw the picture too and got around any future threat to their market. If you can't control the resource market, control the means of production.

Europe
Belgian nuclear research centre security guard murdered
Concerns terrorists are plotting an attack on power station

A security guard who worked at a Belgian nuclear plant was murdered and had his security pass stolen, just two days after the Brussels terror attacks.

Didier Prospero was shot several times in the bathroom of his home in the Charleroi region of Belgium. The unidentified killers shot Prospero, who worked for G4S security at a Belgian nuclear research centre.

A family member found Prospero's body lying next to that of his sheep dog, Beauce, who had also been shot dead. Police found several .22 bullet casings in the room but there was no firearm in the isolated farm house.

Belgian prosecutors denied the 45-year-old security worker's access pass had been stolen.
"No, no, certainly not! It was, umm, copied, that's all!"
The Charleroi prosecutor's office in charge of the case 'formally denied' any connection between the murder of Prospero, who was shot dead on Thursday at his home in Froidchapelle and a planned terror attack.

He was in charge of security for a nuclear research centre at Fleurus. Media had said he worked at a nuclear power plant. Belgian police are refusing to link Prospero's murder to the ongoing terror investigation, however further evidence of an ISIS plan to hit a nuclear power station has emerged.
"We can say no more!"
According to the New York Times, several employees working in the Belgian nuclear industry have had their security clearances revoked over potential ISIS plots. Following last November's terror attack in Paris, Belgian police recovered surveillance footage of a senior nuclear official in the home of ISIS ringleader Mohamed Bakkali, who was arrested and is currently facing terrorism charges.

It is feared the murder may be part of an ISIS plot to attack the facility and release radioactive waste into the atmosphere. Or, the terrorists could have been planning to steal radioactive material to create a so-called dirty bomb. Also, it is possible the terrorists wanted to sabotage a critical piece of machinery and cause the plant to meltdown, leading to a critical release of radioactive material.
That's the trifecta, and they're not mutually exclusive...
Sebastien Berg, spokesman for the federal agency responsible for Belgium's nuclear industry said they were fearful of a bomb exploding inside a plant or terrorists conducting a 9/11-style attack using a hijacked aircraft.

In 2012, two workers from a plant in Doel fled to Syria to join the jihadis. They are believed to have fought alongside Abdelhamid Abaaoud, mastermind behind the Paris attacks. One of the men is believed to have been killed in Syria, while the second served a short prison sentence in Belgium for terror-related offences in 2014.

Nuclear power plants are known to be targets for the terror network behind the Brussels bombings and the Paris attacks in November. In a nation on high alert following this week's attacks, the report stokes fears about the possibility militants are seeking to get hold of nuclear material or planning to attack a nuclear site. Such is the level of fear within the Belgian nuclear power industry, all non-essential staff at the Doel and Tihange power plants have been sent home.

For the foreseeable future Belgium's nuclear plants will continue operating with staffing levels similar to weekend service to ensure that no unauthorised personnel could gain access to the plants.
Unless the bad guys plant someone on the inside who is considered 'essential'...
'Some 1,000 people work on sites like these. Their backgrounds are all checked thoroughly, but better safe than sorry.'

On Thursday, Derniere Heure newspaper had reported the suicide bombers who blew themselves up on Tuesday originally considered targeting a nuclear site, but a series of arrests of suspect militants forced them to speed up their plans and instead switch focus to the Belgian capital. However, Charleroi prosecutors has reportedly played down reports of a connection between the murder and a planned terror attack, according to the Belga news agency.

Obama: stigmatizing Muslims ‘plays into hands’ of militants
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] President Barack Obama
Jedi mind meld...
on Saturday urged Americans not to stigmatize Muslims following this week’s deadly attacks in Brussels, saying that doing so is "counterproductive" in the fight against radical Islam.

In his weekly media address, Obama said Muslim-Americans are "our most important partners in the nation’s fight against those who would wage violent jihad."

"That’s why we have to reject any attempt to stigmatize Muslim-Americans, and their enormous contributions to our country and our way of life," Obama said.

"Such attempts are contrary to our character, to our values, and to our history as a nation built around the idea of religious freedom. It’s also counterproductive," he said.

"It plays right into the hands of turbans who want to turn us against one another -- who need a reason to recruit more people to their hateful cause."

Obama made his remarks as the global community continues to reel from Tuesday’s attacks in Belgium, claimed by ISIS, which killed 31 dead, including two Americans, and maimed 300.

"At least 14 Americans were maimed, and we pray for their full recovery, along with everyone else affected by these attacks," Obama said.

The remarks by the Democratic president follow controversial statements in the wake of the Brussels bombings by the two top Republicans vying to succeed him in the White House.

Texas Senator Ted Cruz demanded this week that police "patrol and secure" Muslim neighborhoods in the US in the aftermath of the Brussels attacks, and reiterated an earlier call to suspend the relocation of Syrian refugees to the country.

Donald Trump, meanwhile, repeated his demand for the government to temporarily bar all Muslims from entering the US.

The billionaire real estate baron first called for a ban on entry into the US by Muslims back in December, following a deadly shooting attack in San Bernardino, Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party,.

#2  'Terrorism' is a method of asymmetrical warfare.

Some Muslims are terrorists. More Muslims aren't terrorists but approve of terrorism to further islamic political objectives.

Other Muslims disapprove of terrorism and aren't terrorists themselves.

The problem is that there's a consensus among Muslims about their political objectives vs the West.

Both the OIC and Muslim terrorist organizations are demanding that the West implement elements of Sharia law within Western nations.

Mainstream consensus Islam rejects the notion of peaceful coexistence. That is the problem, not 'terrorism.'

The Law - Your route may take you into another state, especially if you are a somewhat border town. At least be familiar with the laws of potential destinations and the route(s) there. You may find yourself in a situation where you could, justifiably, give a shit what the law is. As your situation stabilizes, you may find yourself in a situation the law gives a shit about you. Know so to make an informed decision.

Storage - make sure the firearm is kept in a way it does not load and/or fire on account of contents shifting around.

Afghanistan
Brussels terror suspect was jailed over Ahmad Shah Massoud assassination
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The coordinated terror attacks in Brussels has unveiled new information regarding the liquidation of a key jiahdi leader in Afghanistan as a terror suspect who was locked away
Drop the gat, Rocky, or you're a dead 'un!
by police in Brussels after a dramatic stand-off at a tram stop is believed to have previously been tossed in the clink
Into the paddy wagon wit' yez!
for helping to assassinate an Afghan leader just days before 9/11.

The suspect has been identified as Abderaman A who was shot in the leg at the tram stop in Schaerbeek because he was carrying a rucksack police believed contained a bomb.
Abderaman A is Abderaman Ameroud, who got seven years in 2007 for his part in the murder.
Massoud was the arch rival of the Taliban group and was holding the last strategic stronghold in northern Panjsher province as he was assassinated in a suicide kaboom during an interview by holy warriors who had disguised themselves as journalists.

He was killed shortly before the deadly terrorist attack on New York and Washington and shortly after he paid a visit to Brussels where he issued warnings regarding the terror attack plots by al-Qaeda terrorist network.

In his speech in European Pearliament in April 2001 Massoud "warned the US government" about bin Laden as he was on a diplomatic trip to Europe seeking financial support for his cause from the EU and individual countries.

The UK-based MailOnline newspaper reported today that the latest revealations was made as the investigation continued into Tuesday terror attacks in Belgium at Brussels Airport and a metro station in the city, which left 31 people dead.

The report further added that passports found on Mr Masood’s killers were linked to a Brussels-based hard boy cell run by Tarek Maaroufi.

Ameroud was handed a sentence of seven years when he went on trial for his part in the liquidation at a court in Gay Paree in 2005, according to the report.

Massoud was conferred the title of national hero following his liquidation by the Taliban militnats in a bid to take control of Panjshir province which has always remained a stronghold against the foreign invasions.

Home Front: WoT
Hackers tied to Iran charged in cyber-attacks on US banks, dam 2011-2013
But none of those charged are in American custody, nor ever likely to be.
[IsraelTimes] 7 people indicted; attorney general says attackers threatened America’s economic well-being

Seven hackers tied to the Iranian government were charged Thursday in a series of punishing cyber-attacks on dozens of banks and a small dam outside New York City, intrusions that reached into America’s infrastructure and disrupted the financial system, US law enforcement officials said.

The indictment announced at the Justice Department reveals the determination of overseas hackers to cripple vital American interests, the officials said.

"The attacks were relentless, systematic and widespread," Attorney General Loretta Lynch said. "They threatened our economic well-being and our ability to compete fairly in the global marketplace, both of which are directly linked to our national security."

One of the seven alleged hackers is accused of repeatedly gaining access to the control system of the Bowman Avenue Dam, a small flood-control structure in Rye Brook, about 20 miles (32 kilometers) north of New York City.

The New York dam is small, only about 20 feet (6 meters) tall. A recently installed sluice gate at the dam, which is digitally controlled, is intended to help control downstream flooding that could inundate nearby homes.

With that access, the hacker was able to get information about the dam’s operations, including its water level, temperature and the status of the sluice gate.

The hacker would have been able to operate the sluice gate, which controls water levels and flow rates, but the gate had been disconnected for maintenance when the intrusion occurred.

The seven accused hackers worked for a pair of Iranian computer companies linked to the Tehran government, including the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps, the US said.

None of the individuals is in American custody, and it’s not clear whether they will ever be enjugged
Don't shoot, coppers! I'm comin' out!
or whether criminal indictments in absentia can be effective in combating such crimes. The indictment two years ago of Chinese military hackers has not led to any of them being hauled before a US judge.

Officials said the goal of such cases is to put cybercriminals on notice that their mouse clicks can be traced, even if they’re on the other side of the globe.

"The message of this case is that we will work together to shrink the world and impose costs on these people so that no matter where they are, we will reach them," said FBI Director James Comey.

The criminal case is the latest salvo in a contentious cyber relationship between Iran and the US.

In 2010, the so-called Stuxnet virus disrupted the operation of thousands of centrifuges at a uranium enrichment facility in Iran. Tehran says that assault and other computer virus attacks are part of a concerted effort by Israel, the US and their allies to undermine its nuclear program through covert operations.

The indictments unsealed Thursday stem from a series of cyber intrusions between 2011 and 2013 that officials say targeted 46 victims, primarily in the financial sector, that disabled bank websites and interfered with customers’ ability to do online banking. The attacks cost the victims tens of millions of dollars in remediation costs, but no customers lost money.

It was the latest instance of the B.O. regime publicly blaming foreign nations for damaging cyber intrusions.

The Justice Department in May 2014 indicted five Chinese military officials suspected of hacking into several major American companies -- including US Steel and Westinghouse -- and stealing trade secrets and confidential business information. None of those individuals has been brought to America to face charges.

And that December, the federal government linked a damaging attack on Sony Pictures Entertainment to North Koreans.

The Justice Department is determined to remove a cloak of "perceived anonymity" long enjoyed by foreign hackers, said John Carlin, the department’s top national security official.

Rangers seize firearms in Karachi
KARACHI: The Pakistan Rangers, Sindh, claimed on Saturday to have seized a large quantity of arms and ammunition from the residence of a ‘former sector in-charge’ in Korangi and said they had foiled a ‘big conspiracy’ to trigger terrorism in the city.

The paramilitary force, acting on information provided by some detained suspects, raided the house of a former sector in-charge belonging to a militant wing in Bagh-i-Korangi area and found weapons hidden there, said the spokesperson.

The Rangers official did not identify the purported militant wing nor its ex-sector in charge.

Seized arms included one LMG, 15 SMGs and thousands of rounds.

“These arms and ammunition were stockpiled to carry out a big act of lawlessness in Karachi,” claimed the Rangers official.

Two suspected targeted killers were also apprehended during this action, said a Rangers’ statement.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Syrian army advancing inside ISIS-held Palmyra
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Syrian government forces advanced into the ancient city of Palmyra on several fronts on Saturday, backed by waves of artillery barrages and Russian air strikes, a monitoring group said.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the fighting was the heaviest yet in the army's three-week campaign to recapture the desert city from ISIS fighters.

Russian warplanes deployed in Syria have made 40 sorties around the city of Palmyra over the past 24 hours, hitting 158 ISIS targets and killing more than 100 bad boys, Russian news agencies quoted Russia’s defense ministry as saying on Saturday.

It said Syrian soldiers and allied militias had taken control of neighborhoods in the western and northern parts of the city.

Syrian state media earlier said the army had taken full control of Al-Amiriya district on the northern edge of Palmyra.

Two Lebanese TV stations showed footage Saturday of Syrian tanks and machine guns firing at positions inside the town, with smoke rising over the skyline.

The Observatory says ISIS killed at least 10 soldiers in a counter-offensive earlier in the day.

Many of the Palmyra’s Roman-era relics, including the 2,000-year-old Temple of Bel and the iconic Arch of Triumph, have been blown up by ISIS. The town, a UNESCO world heritage site, has been held by ISIS since May.

Palmyra had a population of 50,000 according to a census more than 10 years ago. Those numbers were swelled hugely by an influx of people displaced by Syria's conflict, which has raged since 2011, but most fled when ISIS took over.

Recapturing the city would open up eastern Syria, where ISIS controls most of the Euphrates Valley provinces of Deir al-Zor and Raqqa, to the army.
