Europe
US special operators are quietly avenging the attacks in Paris and Brussels
Too bad it takes an attack like that in Paris to decide to go after these ba$tards.
ISIS spends a lot of time celebrating their attacks on foreign soil, making them seem like overwhelming victories in their global campaign of fear. Meanwhile US special operations forces in Iraq and Syria have killed 40 ISIS fighters responsible for those attacks.

Officials from the Department of Defense told Kim Dozier of The Daily Beast that US special forces have killed those "external operations leaders, planners, and facilitators" who were part of those attacks outside the CENTCOM area of responsibility.

The use of special forces in kill or capture raids (though the capture part tends to happen much less frequently) is a major part of the US counterterrorism plan against ISIS. Those 40 are less than half of the high-value targets that coalition forces have taken out.

The US mission also includes curtailing the terror group’s ability to recruit abroad and inhibit their ability to carry out Paris-style attacks. President Obama has ordered 250 more special operators to Iraq to support these operations.

According to Dozier’s report, the effort is seeing results. Those same defense officials estimated that ISIS’ overall fighting force is down to 19,000 ‐ 25,000 fighters, from 33,000 in 2015. Moreover, the influx of new recruits coming into the region is down 90 percent from last year.

Dozier also reports that the Director of National Intelligence Jim Clapper warned this week that ISIS cells are already in place throughout Europe. ISIS’ external operations have killed 1,000 people across 21 countries since 2015.

But the US Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) is using a mixture of special operators from many, varied disciplines. Their units include Navy SEALs, Delta Force, and Green Berets integrated in all aspects of the JSOC mission. This ensures the highest performers are on kill-capture raids, and have experience in hostage rescue and working with local opposition forces.

This may be a product of battlefield lessons learned. These days, the CENTCOM AOR is run by Gen. Joseph Votel, who once commanded both US Special Operations Command and JSOC. Lt. Gen. Austin S. Miller, the current JSOC commander, ran special operations in Afghanistan, where he used the mixed special forces tactics with great success.

#1  Why quietly?

We should make it crystal clear that these scum AND their controllers and pay masters will pay the ultimate price. Then make sure everyone gets to read the message.

Too bad the libs don't realize that waterboarding does not cripple, maim, or disfigure. It does properly applied provide a lot of good information.

Trump vs. the New Class
h/t Instapundit
The falcon cannot hear the falconer, wrote William Butler Yeats. Political leaders, like the falcon, were meant to obey their minders, but Yeats’s falcon had soared above them and loosed mere anarchy on the world. Today, Donald Trump’s campaign soars above our conservative elites, who in their foundations, their little magazines, their think tanks, define what conservatives may do or say. Trump ignores them, they tell us, and disorder and chaos must follow.
Very long, but IMO, worth the effort

Just one more quote
...Table 1 reports on how countries rank on a measure of mobility, the correlation between the earnings of fathers and sons. With a ranking of zero there is perfect mobility, and perfect immobility with a ranking of one. It will come as a surprise to realize that the U.S. is one of the most immobile countries in the developed world, that children in other such countries are better able to climb the economic ladder. Through a broken educational system, insane immigration laws, a regulatory state on steroids, a disregard for the rule of law, we have created an aristocracy and betrayed the promise of America.

#1  It's ironic how the elite's sing the doom and gloom of trump. They say he will drive the country to ruin, and he might be at the helm as we go over the cliff. We must understand who is to blame here and it's not trump or the current political opportunists. It is the voters. We elected criminals that slowly changed the rules so they could hold power, profit from that power, and reduce the voters ability to change them out. Currently all those that stick to these rules are hiding behind them. Possibly out of complicity or possibly out of fear of change. Either way people awoke this year in both parties realizing that out nation is broke both financially and ethically. People on both sides want our nation back. We want our nation led by people with integrity. Understand that if the popular vote is again ignored the people will rise up, not to just protest. They will rise up to overthrow those that have taken our constitution hostage to greed. The threat of violence, and not riots, real targeted violence is out there. Not by a few nuts, but by rational people that see their democracy is no longer one. The GOP needs to think long and hard about how they handle this. The fate of our nation could be at stake. The democrats have long been a bastion of greed, or so we thought, now we realize the left and right wing are on the same bird. We as a nation need to look inward put America first, fix our leadership problem and get ourselves back on track. When you do an intervention, no one likes the counselor, but we all need to understand we can't go on like we are and we need this intervention. Another 8 years of the same will make our nation unrepairable. It's time, before less cool heads prevail.

#2  I suspect if/when Trump becomes President the Congress will suddenly start to take their job as a counter-balance to the Executive Branch seriously again.

That is unless Trump keeps the gravy train running on time.

#3  You do not go into the fight with what you want, but with what you have. I view the latest presidential follies as a bunch of Beltway insiders, determined to maintain the status quo(with all its largess and plunder)even if it means their own destruction in the end by the system they manipulated finally collapsing.

I have great reservations about Trump, but he is the only one attacking the established elite. The Washington DC establishing is bleeding the country dry, and saddling the people with an avalanche of laws and regulations.

As far as the other candidates go, they will just accelerate the destruction of this country. The system is broken because Congress does not assume the responsibilities and powers that are given them under the constitution.

DC has played fast and loose with the constitution, and now has a sister city in Brussels. If the overbearing power of DC is not downsized, then the country will begin to break up, mainly due to bankruptcy. Take a look at Puerto Rico, Venezuela. This is where we are heading if we do not take back this country.

Back to Trump. We know that he is the only one attacking the political status quo. Every other candidate is vested in the corrupt system that is bringing down this country. If Trump screws up when in office, he can be removed. That is the way I look at it. The least worst alternative.
In the next world, you are on your own.

#7  The problem is that Trump will be a boat anchor. This will hand Congress (the Senate) to the Dems. The Trump-a-dump has started - he's being used to bash the GOP senator in Arkansas already. #8  Much fear and constipation these days. So many have gotten Trump wrong time after time. I don't bother listening to them. I suspect many others are doing the same, the voters!!. Tuesday will be a great day for the country and Trump. The silent majority is silent no longer. Certainly the Republicans will fight Trump more than they ever did O. That will fade as they see the influence Trump will have with the American people. They will take the way of least resistance. The media will be revitalized and see aligning with Trump bringing prosperity to a dying industry. Using tools of management and his ability I suspect he will hit the ground running. Focus on the home front. Requiring less sleep than most he will run the legs off his staff. Think positive. Think results. Think America united as in war. A new chapter in American history is going to be written. Seize the day !!.

Economy
Not for nothing, a Tiny Nebraska town says no to 1,100 jobs
[Fox] NICKERSON, Neb. - Half-ton pickup trucks crowd the curb outside the One Horse Saloon, a neon Coors Light sign in the window and rib-eye steaks on the menu, but otherwise Nickerson, Nebraska, is nearly silent on a spring evening, with only rumbling freight trains interrupting bird songs.

Regional economic development officials thought it was the perfect spot for a chicken processing plant that would liven up the 400-person town with 1,100 jobs, more than it had ever seen. When plans leaked out, though, there was no celebration, only furious opposition that culminated in residents packing the fire hall to complain the roads couldn't handle the truck traffic, the stench from the plant would be unbearable and immigrants and out-of-towners would flood the area, overwhelming schools and changing the town's character.

"Everyone was against it," said Jackie Ladd, who has lived there for more than 30 years. "How many jobs would it mean for people here? Not many."

The village board unanimously voted against the proposed $300 million plant, and two weeks later, the company said they'd take their plant -- and money -- elsewhere.

Deep-rooted, rural agricultural communities around the U.S. are seeking economic investments to keep from shedding residents, but those very places face trade-offs that increasing numbers of those who oppose meat processing plants say threaten to burden their way of life and bring in outsiders.

#1  Regional economic development officials who most likely live in Lincoln and would never allow a chicken processing plant within 10 miles of where their homes are, were probably taken aback by the knuckle dragging, bible totting, gun loving rustic rurals.

#13  Capsu and Pearl, think The Chobani Method.

Suppose every job represents a family of four (4,400). 30 miles from the suburbs, the suburbs, of Omaha, so that means a lot of local housing. And of course the rush town would attract franchise prospectors who would compete with the locals.

Has there been bleed off of rural populations? Yes, and that means the people still there are there mostly by choice.

And what does plans leaked mean? Is the writer being smirky or was there a plan in the works to quietly purchase properties and one day just announce this is going to happen?

No city noise, occasional train, bird songs, good food, shuffleboard, cold beer. Yeah, let me once again join my Nickerson brethren and say y'all can take your chicken money and shove it in your pecker.

Africa Subsaharan
Imposing racial quotas is a vital step forward for South African sport
[Guardian] South Africa’s sports minister has announced that he will no longer "beg for racial transformation", but will start forcing the country’s sporting federations to fulfil racial quotas.

Fikile Mbalula said in a speech on Sunday that the cricket, rugby, netball and athletics federations would be banned from bidding for any international tournaments until their numbers of black players improved.

For more than 50 years, black athletes were banned from representing their national sides. Thanks to these policies, it’s taken South African cricket more than 20 years to produce Temba Bavuma, who earlier this year became the first black cricketer to earn the country a century in Test cricket.
Hat tip to Mbalula. At least he was open about quotas, no back-dooring or denial.

#1  Habana Habana.

Bryan Gary Habana OIS (born 12 June 1983[2] in Benoni, Gauteng Province) is a South African rugby union player who plays as a wing for Toulon in the French Top 14 competition, as well as 2007 Rugby World Cup champions Springboks. Habana was one of the stars of the World Cup, his eight tries equalling the record set by Jonah Lomu in 1999, and was named the 2007 IRB Player of the Year.

During the 2015 Rugby World Cup he equalled Lomu's record of 15 tries, and also moved into the joint second place of all time test try scorers, with a tally of 64.

Named after former Manchester United footballers Bryan Robson and Gary Bailey,[3] he played outside centre and scrumhalf in provincial and age group rugby, but once he was moved to the wing a vast improvement was seen. Prior to his first year of Super Rugby he was selected for the Springboks, scoring a try with his first touch of the ball in test rugby in the end-of-season match against England at Twickenham in 2004.

Government
CIA director: '28 pages' contain inaccurate information
[The Hill] CIA Director John Brennan said Sunday that releasing the 28 classified pages from the 9/11 Commission report would be a mistake because they contain inaccurate, un-vetted information that could be used to tie Saudi Arabia to the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks.

"This chapter was kept out because of concerns about sensitive methods, investigative actions, and the investigation of 9/11 was still underway in 2002," Brennan said on NBC's "Meet the Press."

He said information in the 28 pages hasn't been vetted or corroborated, adding that releasing the information would give ammunition to those who want to tie the terror attacks to Saudi Arabia.
Kinetic analogy, most interesting. By 'ammunition' he's actually referring to confirmation. If there was nothing 'there there,' releasing the documents would provide the proof. Amiwrong ?
"I think there's a combination of things that are accurate and inaccurate [in the report]," Brennan said. "I think the 9/11 Commission took that joint inquiry and those 28 pages or so and followed through on the investigation and then came out with a very clear judgment that there was no evidence that ... Saudi government as an institution or Saudi officials or individuals had provided financial support to al Qaeda."

Former and current congressmen argue the pages show the existence of a Saudi support network for the hijackers involved in the terror attacks. The 28 pages were cut from a report on the 9/11 terror attacks in 2003 by the George W. Bush administration in the interest of national security.

Those critics say the vague wording in the report left open the possibility that less senior officials or other parts of the Saudi government could have played a role.

Former Sen. Bob Graham (D-Fla.), who helped author the report, says he believes it shows the 9/11 hijackers were "substantially" supported by the Saudi government, as well as charities and wealthy people in that country.

"I think it is implausible to believe that 19 people, most of whom didn't speak English, most of whom had never been in the United States before, many of whom didn't have a high school education -- could've carried out such a complicated task without some support from within the United States," Graham said in an interview with "60 Minutes" in April.

Meanwhile, House and Senate lawmakers are backing a bill that would let families of terror victims sue foreign states that helped fund or support terrorist attacks in the U.S.

In response to that legislation, which President Obama has lobbied against, the Saudi government threatened to sell off hundreds of billions of dollars' worth of American assets.

#10  Of course the Saudis wittingly allowed the OBL monster to grow...and now they encourage the ISIS brand. First glance - Brennan knowingly attempts to deceive by stating that no Saudi "individual" provided financial support to AQ...stupid. This deception provides evidence that Brennan is a liar and causes us to look a little deeper. Now we are troubled by his carefully qualified statement we lack evidence that the Saudi government, any official nor individual provided financial support. One - OBL was an Saudi and funded the planes operation...with help from his freinds. Two - he qualified "financial support" - what other types of support do we have evidence of that the Saudis provided? Fast forward to today - are the Saudis supporting ISIS? There is a noted lack of ISIS trouble in the Sunni kingdom and now the Saudis threaten us to keep our distance... What does the CIA know?

Caribbean-Latin America
We ignore Venezuela’s imminent implosion at our peril
Moved to Opinion
[WASHINGTONPOST] The encouraging news from Latin America is that the leftist populists who for 15 years undermined the region’s democratic institutions and wrecked its economies are being pushed out -- not by coups and juntas, but by democratic and constitutional means. Cristina Fernández de Kirchner of Argentina
...a country located on the other side of the Deep South. It is covered with Pampers and inhabited by Grouchos, who dance the Tangle. They used to have some islands called the Malvinas located where the Falklands are now. They're not supposed to cry for Evita...
is already gone, vanquished in a presidential election, and Brazil’s Dilma Rousseff is likely to be impeached in the coming days.

The tipping point is the place where the movement began in the late 1990s: Venezuela, a country of 30 million that despite holding the world’s largest oil reserves has descended into a dystopia where food, medicine, water and electric power are critically scarce. Riots and looting broke out in several blacked-out cities last week, forcing the deployment of troops. A nation that 35 years ago was the richest in Latin America is now appealing to its neighbors for humanitarian deliveries to prevent epidemics and hunger.

The regime that fostered this nightmare, headed by Hugo Chavez until his death in 2013, is on the way out: It cannot survive the economic crisis and mass discontent it has created. The question is whether the change will come relatively peacefully or through an upheaval that could turn Venezuela into a failed state and destabilize much of the region around it.

A democratic outcome seemed possible in December, when a coalition of opposition parties won two-thirds of the seats in the National Assembly. Rather than concede or negotiate, however, the Chavista government, now headed by President Nicolás Maduro, dug in. At its direction, a constitutional tribunal stacked with party hacks has issued annulments of every act by the new assembly, including an amnesty for scores of political prisoners.

Gangs of regime thugs now roam the streets on cycle of violences and attack opposition gatherings. Meanwhile,
...back at the precinct house, Don Calamari's lawyer was getting even redder in the face...
the government is essentially shutting itself down: Last week Maduro ordered that state employees, who make up more than 30 percent of the workforce, would henceforth labor only two days a week, supposedly in order to save energy.

Remarkably, most of the Western hemisphere is studiously ignoring this meltdown. The B.O. regime and Washington’s Latin America watchers are obsessed with the president’s pet project, the opening to Cuba. As it happens, the Castros turned Venezuela into a satellite state, seeding its security forces and intelligence services with agents. Yet now that it is decreasingly able to supply discounted oil to its revolutionary mentor, Venezuela appears to have become an afterthought even in Havana.

Last week a delegation of senior Venezuelan politicians traveled to Washington to make one more effort to call attention to their crisis. They had a simple message: "Venezuela will end with a political change, because there is no other possibility," said Luis Florido, president of the National Assembly’s foreign affairs commission. "But the government will decide how this change happens."

They’d also like help finding the $300 billion to $400 billion they estimate has been stashed in foreign bank accounts by the Chavista elite; the money is desperately needed to import food and stave off a foreign debt default.

Africa North
Under Pressure Sahel Jihadists Resort to Soft Targets, Says French Commander
[AnNahar] The commander of a French anti-jihadist force in Africa's northern Sahel says Islamist faceless myrmidons are hitting soft targets elsewhere after losing the initiative in the region.

General Patrick Brethous said groups were now selecting easy targets beyond the reach of his Operation Barkhane because they had been outmaneuvered on home turf.

"It's perhaps precisely because they are under pressure that they (jihadist groups) do that. They have no sanctuaries left, just a few hideouts in the far north," he told AFP in an interview at the headquarters of Operation Barkhane in Chad's capital N'Djamena.

Iraq
ISIS suicide attacks kill 32 in southern Iraq
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Two suicide boom-mobiles claimed by ISIS killed at least 32 people and maimed 75 others in the center of the southern Iraqi city of Samawa on Sunday, police and medics said.

The first blast was near a local government building and the second one about 60 meters (65 yards) away at a bus station, police sources said. The corpse count was expected to keep rising.

Unverified online photographs showed a large plume of smoke rising above the buildings as well as burnt out cars and bodies on the ground at the site of one of the blasts, including several children. Police and firefighters carried victims on stretchers and in their arms.

ISIS said it had attacked a gathering of special forces in Samawa, 230 km (140 miles) south of the capital, with one boom-mobile and then blew up the second when security forces responded to the site.

ISIS holds positions mostly in Sunni areas of the country’s north and west, far from the mainly Shiite southern provinces where Samawa is located. Such attacks are relatively rare.

The rise of the ultra-hardline Sunni Death Eaters has exacerbated Iraq’s sectarian conflict, mostly between Shiites and Sunnis, which emerged after the 2003 US-led invasion that toppled Saddam Hussein.

The quota-based governing system put in place by the United States at the time is being challenged by hundreds of protesters who camped out overnight in Baghdad’s heavily fortified Green Zone after storming the parliament building.

Bin Ladin Workers Torch Buses In Protest Near Makkah
How have the mighty fallen
. [ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Firefighters tackled a huge blaze after seven buses were set alight outside the compound of the Gant construction firm, the Saudi Binladin Group.

Spokesman for the Makkah civil defense Major Nayef al-Sharif said firefighters managed to put out the blaze without any injuries.

Reports suggest the fire was started by employees at the group, who started the blaze in the buses in protest over issues with their employer. The Binladin Group have not commented about the incident.
According to The National (UAE), the workers are disgruntled because they haven't been paid in months, and fifty thousand foreign workers have been fired.

Or make your travel arrangements now.

Iraq
Kurds launch offensive against ISIS in Kirkuk
ERBIL – Subsequent to the failure of the Shiite Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) to recapture al-Bashir village from the radical group of Islamic State (ISIS), the Kurdish Peshmerga forces began a major military operation against ISIS to free the key village south of Kirkuk, in northern Iraq, local sources reported on Sunday.

The Peshmerga-led operation came after weeks of the PMF failed attempts to advance in al-Bashir village and its surroundings, despite heavy artillery bombardment and rocket launchers on ISIS headquarters by Iraqi army in the area.

Speaking to ARA News in Kirkuk, media activist Samir al-Ameri said that the clashes continue in the villages of al-Mazraa and al-Bu Mifrij in the vicinity of the key village of al-Bashir, amid airstrikes by the US-led coalition forces on ISIS locations in the area.

“The Peshmerga forces, backed by the PMF and the US-led coalition forces, launched a mjor military operation on the terror group’s strongholds in al-Bashir village and its surroundings from several sides,” al-Ameri reported.

“We have pounded ISIS strongholds in the areas of Mazraat al-Dawla, Tel Ahmed, and the highway leading to al-Bashir village,” a Kurdish commander told ARA News, speaking on the condition of anonymity.

“We have caused the group heavy losses in manpower and equipment,” he said, arguing “We will soon take over the region and expel the terrorists [ISIS].”

The source pointed out that the Abbas Squad and the Imam Ali Squad [both members of the PMF] will be responsible for securing the Mazraat al-Dawla area, while the Kurdish Peshmerga forces will bear the responsibility of securing the Tel Ahmed district and then liberate the al-Bashir village from ISIS, while the third part [highway leading to al-Bashir] is left for the Turkmen Mobilization forces.

Clashes continue on the outskirts of al-Bashir village near al-Mazraa and al-Bu Mifrij areas where ISIS militants strive to push back the Peshmerga and allied forces from the region, according to local sources.

4 suspected gangsters killed in encounter
KARACHI: Police on Sunday night claimed to have killed four suspects in an encounter in Dalmia area of the metropolis, said an official of Aziz Bhatti police station.

Acting on a tip off about presence of alleged gangsters linked with Lyari gang-war, contingents of police encircled the area in Dalmia where they came under attack, the official.

In the retaliatory fire, as claimed by the police, four suspects got killed, said Gulshan SP Dr. Fahad Ahmed.

Six grenades, one AK-47, one repeater and two pistols were recovered from the possession of suspects, the official said.

The ‘operation’ against criminal elements in the metropolis is undergoing since September 2013 after the federal cabinet empowered Rangers to lead a targeted advance with the support of police against criminals already identified by federal military and civilian agencies for their alleged involvement in targeted killings, kidnappings for ransom, extortion and terrorism in Karachi.

A high-level apex committee meeting chaired by the Chief of Army Staff Gen Raheel Sharif on May 14, 2015 decided to implement effective policing and surveillance in the "vast suburbs of Karachi", to prevent what the military spokesperson said were "sneaking terrorist attacks".

The attack on Wednesday evening near Bursa’s famed 14th-century Grand Mosque maimed 13 people but caused no fatalities other than thejacket wallah'> exploding trollop female suicide bomber herself.

The Kurdistan Freedom Falcons (TAK) -- a radical splinter group of the better-known Kurdish Workers Party (PKK) -- says in a statement on its website that one of its members had carried out the attack.

It says the bomber was a 23-year-old woman named Eser Cali and said the attack was aimed at avenging the Turkish government’s current military operation in the Kurdish-dominated southeast.

But the statement adds that the bomber had detonated her charge and been killed "due an accident before she had reached the target that was to be brought to account for the massacres against our people."

It does not give details on the nature of the intended target but denies she was planning to attack the Grand Mosque.

ISIS executes 4 in Raqqa
[ARA News] ERBIL – Radical group of the Islamic State (ISIS) on Sunday released new propaganda footages, showing the execution of four young men on charge of ‘spying for enemies’ in Syria’s eastern city of Raqqa.

Local activists confirmed that ISIS executed four young men in Raqqa on charges of spying for the ‘crusader coalition’, in reference to the US-led coalition that has been bombing the group in Syria and Iraq for more than one year and a half.

The ISIS-linked Raqqa media center released a propaganda version under the banner “Shear the Necks”, showing pictures of four young men dressed in orange being beheaded by a masked militant from the extremist group.

Subtitles in Arabic were shown on the screen, saying “they [victims] took part in filming the Islamic State’s headquarters in the city of Raqqa” –the group’s main bastion in Syria.

The victims have been described by the group as “apostates and spies for the crusaders”.

“They have caused the death of hundreds of ‘Muslims’ through taking pictures and leaking coordinates of the group’s headquarters to the enemies of the Caliphate,” ISIS said.

The victims were identified as Hamoud Hussein al-Hamoud, Ali Ahmed Mardoud, Ali Abdul Ali, and Juma Mustafa al-Khalaf, according to the ISIS-linked media center of Raqqa.

The execution seems to be taken in a place that was destroyed by the US-led coalition’s airstrikes.

Over the past two years, ISIS has publicly executed hundreds of civilians, activists, and journalists on various charges in areas under its control across Syria and Iraq.

Helmand Court Convicts 25 Officials Of Corruption, Land Grabbing
In a ruling announced on Sunday, an appeals court in the southern province of Helmand found at least 25 individuals guilty of corruption and land-grabbing – a ruling that sparked widespread public support.

Among those who welcomed the move included residents along with some government officials and provincial council members.

The ruling comes amid growing calls by the public for government to step up its efforts to tackle such crime which has severely overshadowed transparency and rule of law in the country.

Those convicted by the court include the head of the local irrigation department, the head of the local public works affairs department, head of labor and social affairs department and some other officials in the province.

"The majority of the defendants convicted today are Helmand local officials who have been found guilty either of corruption or land grabbing. We will no longer keep silent against land usurpers and corruption," Fazel Sultan Safai, head of Helmand appeals court said,

Meanwhile, Hayatollah Hayat, the governor of Helmand province promised justice will be served in these cases.

"I appreciate the verdict of Helmand appeal court and promise to refer these cases to legal and judicial institutions," he said.

In addition, Helmand provincial council has also welcomed the verdict, calling the move an important step in fighting corruption and implementing the law.

"We strongly support the action taken by the appeal court and hope that the law will be implemented on the land grabbers and corrupt elements," member of Helmand's provincial council Bashir Shakir said.

According to the Helmand appeal court, there are certain individuals in the education and health departments who are also being investigated on charges of corruption.

Russia holds talks to calm raging Aleppo violence
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The Russian Defence Ministry said on Sunday that talks are taking place to include Syria's Aleppo province in the temporary "regime of calm" lull in fighting, Russian agencies reported.

General Sergei Kuralenko, in charge of Russia's ceasefire monitoring center in Syria, was also cited as saying that the "calm" around Damascus has been extended for another 24 hours until 2100 GMT on Monday.

Kuralenko also said that overall the "regime of calm" in Syria's Latakia and around Damascus has been respected, RIA news agency reported.

Meanwhile,

the United States is working on "specific initiatives" to reduce the violence in Syria and sees stopping the bloodshed in Aleppo as a top priority, a US State Department front man said on Saturday.

"In both calls, the secretary underscored that the initial efforts to reaffirm the cessation of hostilities in Latakia and Eastern Ghouta are not limited to these two areas and that efforts to renew the cessation must and do include Aleppo," Kirby said.

5 soldiers, 2 officers killed in weekend terror attacks
Terror attacks in two seperate Turkish provinces in the southeast killed five soldiers and two police officers over the weekend.

Two police officers were killed in a bomb attack on a police headquarters in the southeastern province of Gaziantep on the morning of May 1, Gov. Ali Yerlikaya has confirmed. At least 18 policemen and four civilians were injured in the suspected car bomb attack that was carried out around 9:20 a.m.

Private broadcaster CNNTürk reported that the blast occurred in front of the barriers of the headquarters. Two cars entered the area in front of the headquarters and started firing with automatic weapons, with police responding to the attack, reported daily Hürriyet. One of the cars managed to escape, while the second car exploded, according to reports. The police have begun a search to apprehend the other car involved in the attack.

Footage from a CNNTürk broadcast showed pieces of a wrecked vehicle near the station’s gates, several ambulances and fire brigade trucks at the scene of the blast, which it said was felt from kilometers away.

The wounded were taken to a hospital, where one police officer succumbed to his injuries.

Meanwhile, four Turkish soldiers were killed and 14 were wounded on separate May 1 attacks by the outlawed Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) in the southeastern provinces of Mardin and Şırnak, according to reports.

Three soldiers were killed and 14 were wounded during a military operation in the Nusaybin district of the southeastern province of Mardin, the Turkish Armed Forces said in a statement. The attack in the town, where a number of neighborhoods are under curfew and operations have been ongoing since March 14, came as the soldiers were detonating a bomb placed by the militants on Nusaybin’s Çağçağ Street.

In a separate attack on the same day, a soldier was heavily wounded after being hit by a PKK sniper during an operation in Şırnak’s İsmetpaşa neighborhood.

Drones hit Daesh bomb factory in Syria
Military sources say at least two Daesh militants have been killed by U.S.-led coalition drones launched from Turkey.

Two MQ-1 Predators took off from southern Turkey's Incirlik base in Adana on Saturday and hit a building inside Syria being used to produce explosives and car bombs, according to a Turkish security source speaking on Sunday.

The building was located in Azaz city, northwestern Syria, roughly 32 kilometers [20 miles] north-northwest of Aleppo. It is believed that a number of other Daesh militants have been trapped inside the building which collapsed after being hit.

Islamic Jihad delegation visits Iran to 'discuss ways to strengthen intifada'
[Jpost] The delegation, headed by the organization's Secretary General Ramadan Abdullah will visit Iran for a few days and meet Iran's President Hassan Rouhani.

The high-level visit by the Islamic Jihad
...created after many members of the Egyptian Moslem Brotherhood decided the organization was becoming too moderate. Operations were conducted out of Egypt until 1981 when the group was exiled after the assassination of President Anwar Sadat. They worked out of Gaza until they were exiled to Lebanon in 1987, where they clove tightly to Hezbollah. In 1989 they moved to Damascus, where they remain a subsidiary of Hezbollah...
delegation to Iran, as well as Abdullah’s declarations praising Iran as the standard-bearer of the Paleostinian "resistance," may be aimed at getting Iran to increase its financial aid to the Paleostinian organization, which is in dire need of money.

The financial distress of the Paleostinian terrorist organization emerged last year, after Tehran significantly cut its funding and began supporting a new Shi’ite organization in the Gazoo Strip called al-Sabirin.

#4  Trump's position is on the judicial construct of two sets of standing on libel laws, one for public and another for private individuals. The standards for the former are near impossible to meet. This smacks as a vast contradiction to the courts expansive use of the 14th Amendment and equal standing before the law. Either we're equal in standing before the law or we are not. Mr Zimmerman lost his libel case against those who clearly manipulated the information to present a political narrative because the defendants were able to convince the sitting judge that he was a public personality. Yet, they created the 'public person' by their very own action. So, on this one, I'd have to side to have one standard for all.

#5  Mr. Pro,

New York Times v. Sullivan is well worth the look.

At what point do you want to be exposed to a law suit, or worse, criminal prosecution for calling any politician "an idiot?" Would the only affirmative defense rely upon an administered I.Q. test?

Even if the appellation "idiot" is demonstrably false, losing the ability to describe those with whom you disagree with certain time-tested epithets seems like a move in the wrong direction.

Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) making device factory in Ngala town, in North Eastern Nigeria.

Despite their recent defeats, the turbans have continued to attack innocent citizens, military and soft targets through vehicular and human borne Improvised Explosive Devices (IED). Despite ongoing clearance of the remnants of the Boko Haram terrorists, they persistently hid the IED manufacturing factories location.

The Nigerian Army reports that as a result of the efficient intelligence and resilience of the troops one of such factories in Ngala town was attacked and destroyed, and some of the Boko Haram turbans killed in the process.

In addition, they recovered 20 gas cylinders of various sizes prepared and ready for explosive insertion, primers, gun powder, electric wires and tape recorders, amongst other items.

IHS: Islamic State boosts attacks in response to territorial losses
[Ynet] Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
attacks have increased this year, particularly in Iraq and Syria as the group responds to substantial territorial losses, a US-based analysis firm IHS said on Sunday.

There were 891 attacks during the first quarter of 2016 in neighbours Iraq and Syria, more than in any three-month period since the holy warriors' sweeping advance in mid-2014, IHS said in a new report.

Those attacks killed 2,150 people, a 44 percent rise over the previous three months and the highest quarterly toll in nearly a year.

"The group is resorting more and more to mass-casualty violence as it comes under heavy pressure from multiple angles," said Matthew Henman, head of IHS Jane's Terrorism and Insurgency Centre.

The US military estimates Islamic State's territory in Iraq has shrunk by about 40 percent from its 2014 peak and 20 percent in Syria.

Sadrist protesters leave Iraqi parliament building after protests
Hundreds of supporters of the Shiite Muslim cleric Moqtada al-Sadr left the heavily guarded parliament building in the Iraqi capital early May 1, hours after storming the parliament building when lawmakers failed to convene for a vote on overhauling the government.

Muhammed Abduzzehra, a protester, said they had left the parliament building without damaging any public or private properties. He said the protest would continue until a “government purified of political influence” was formed.

The protesters, who had gathered outside the heavily fortified central district known as the Green Zone, crossed a bridge over the Tigris River April 30 chanting, “The cowards ran away!” in apparent reference to departing lawmakers.

The initial hours were mostly peaceful, but around sunset, security forces fired teargas and bullets into the air in an effort to stop more protesters from entering. Around a dozen people were wounded, police sources said, according to Reuters.

All entrances of Baghdad were temporarily shut “as a precautionary measure to maintain the capital’s security,” a security official said.

The capital was already on high alert for a major Shiite pilgrimage, participants of which were targeted in a bombing that killed 23 on April 30, but extra security measures were taken after protesters stormed the Green Zone, which houses many government buildings and foreign embassies.

Some six hours after the Green Zone was stormed, Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi issued a statement claiming the situation in Baghdad was “under the control of the security forces” and urging protesters to return to “designated protest areas,” AFP reported.

Parliament speaker Salim al-Juburi, meanwhile, issued a statement that referred to the country’s MPs as “representatives of the people, and their servants” – an opinion with which many Iraqis would disagree.

Meanwhile, Abadi’s office said the PM had ordered that rioters be pursued, but security forces were not taking action against those inside the Green Zone on May 1, according to AFP.

Abadi “directed the interior minister to pursue the elements who attacked the security forces and citizens and members of parliament and vandalised state properties and to refer them to the judiciary to receive their just punishment,” a statement said.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Woman jailed for 100 years in Colorado for attempted murder of unborn baby
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] A woman has been sentenced to a total of 100 years in prison in the western US state of Colorado for attempted murder of unborn child, it has been reported.

The woman was found guilty during a court hearing for cutting a seven-month-old foetus from the womb of an expectant mother.

The convict, Dynel Lane, was found guilty by a jury for trying to kill Michelle Wilkins in March 2015 in the Denver suburb of Longmont and was also convicted of the unlawful termination of a pregnancy, according to Independent.

According to the report, the baby was later named Aurora who did not survive the attack.

The prosecutors had asked for the maximum sentence of 188 years for the brutal killing but judge Maria Berkenkotter said the sentence was justified by the brutality of the attack, which she described as performing a caesarean with a kitchen knife.

The 28-year-old victim was lured by Lane to her apartment by creating a Craigslist ad for maternity clothes and hit her over the head with a lava lamp and stabbed her in the neck with the broken glass.

She then cut Ms Wilkin’s abdomen, removed the unborn baby and left the victim for dead, according to the court hearing.

According to the prosecutors, the convict could not be charged with the murder of the baby because there was no evidence the fetus lived outside the womb.

Colorado Republicans introduced legislation that would have allowed such a murder charge, but it was rejected by Democrat politicians, according to Independent.

To date 38 US states have made the killing of a foetus a homicide despite objections from abortion-rights supporters.

Uighur villagers compelled to spy on neighbors
[AFP] Villagers in a remote part of the Xinjiang region are being forced by local authorities to spy on their neighbors, watching constantly for behavior deemed "suspicious" or opposed to Beijing's rule over the mostly Muslim Uighur region.

In a policy put in place almost two years ago, residents of Kizilsu village in Peyziwat (in Chinese, Jiashi) county in the Kashgar (Kashi) prefecture must now sign a "Joint Responsibility Contract" that threatens collective punishment for villagers found not in compliance with 30 specific regulations, sources said.

The contract, issued by the village office of the Communist Party and the village government, divides residents into groups responsible for watching for prohibited activities such as unusual travel to or from the area, the teaching or promotion of Islam, and the spread of politically sensitive information to outsiders. Residents must also report fellow villagers who sell land or make unusual purchases, refuse to watch or read official news media, or suddenly quit smoking or drinking alcohol.

Efforts are frequently made by investigators to ensure the policy is properly enforced, an employee at a local state-owned firm said, adding, "social stability is now being very well maintained in the village."

"All residents know they must strictly observe these regulations,No one is left in our village now who wears religious dress," another source said.

Two Ansar Khilafa militants killed in Sarangani
[InterAksyon] Two still unidentified alleged members of a terrorist group that earlier claimed ties with Daesh were killed by an elite Philippine police unit Thursday in a remote village in Maasim, Sarangani Province. Police spokesman Wilben Mayor said the raid was carried out on a suspected hideout of the Ansar Khilafa Philippines (AKP) located in Sitio Bulat. The operation was carried out by a combined security force.

The AKP, led by a certain Mohammad Jaafar Sabiwang Maguid, alias 'Tokboy,' clashed with the lawmen at around 3 a.m. Thursday. Two of his followers were killed, with no casualties on the government side.

An initial report identified Maguid as the head of AKP in Sarangani and Sultan Kudarat area. He escaped during the encounter.

According to Mayor, Maguid and his men were able to escape from a clash on November 26, 2015, with government troops in Palimbang town in Sultan Kudarat. At least eight suspected AKP members were killed in that battle.

Mayor said the fatalities included a certain Ibrahim Sucipto Ibrahim Ali/Abu/Masud/Abu Muhammad/Huzaifa, an Indonesian National and who was a former leader of the Jemaah Islamiyah in Mindanao.

Yobe: Police deploys personnel to areas recovered from Boko Haram
[DAILYPOST.NG] The Nigeria Police Force will begin the deployment of personnel to areas liberated by the Nigerian Army in Yobe next week in its bid to re-establish civil authorities.

DIG Sotonye Wakama, the Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Operations, made the disclosure at a meeting with stakeholders in Damaturu on Saturday.

He said the conventional police would resume duties while units of mobile police force would also be established in Gujba, Gulani and Yunusari local government areas.

He also said the police would engage in electronic mopping of the areas to clear possible mines.

"They will also set fire on the bushes to clear farmlands of buried mines for the safety of farmers," he said.

Wakama, however, solicited the cooperation of other security organizations, religious, community leaders and the public.

He said the cooperation of all would assist in restoring confidence in relocating communities and in consolidating the success recorded in the fight against insurgency.

The DIG said the police had trained its personnel on respect for human rights

and rules of engagement to ensure the success of the exercise.

He added that the force had provided minimum level of comfort for coppers in the affected areas to enhance their duties and productivity.

Iraq
Ninevah Nightmares: 19 die
ERBIL – At least 19 militants from the radical group of Islamic State (ISIS) were killed on Sunday in the city of Mosul in Iraq’s province of Nineveh, as a result of an attack by the US-led coalition’s warplanes, local sources reported.

Local activists confirmed that at least two prominent leaders were killed in Sunday’s attack.

Speaking to ARA News in Mosul, media activist J.Z. said that Jassim Salim al-Matyouti, ISIS governor of al-Jazeera area, and Ahmed Ghanem al-Hadidi, Emir of the so-called ‘Cubs of the Caliphate’, were killed in an airstrike by the US-led coalition forces on the group’s strongholds in the city of Mosul.

The ‘Cubs of the Caliphate’ is a unit for child soldiers who fight in the ranks of ISIS. It has branches in every city controlled by ISIS in Iraq and Syria.

“The US-led coalition warplanes conducted several airstrikes in the city of Mosul, hitting the Faculty of Science [Department of Chemistry] at the University of Mosul, which has been taken over by ISIS jihadis as headquarters,” the source reported, pointing out the attack led to the death of at least 19 jihadis, including those top leaders.

On Saturday, Iraqi army forces shelled ISIS strongholds in the northern province of Nineveh, killing the ISIS senior official and the oil minister Wahid as-Sabaawi, according to military sources. As-Sabaawi was killed during the 15th Artillery Squad’s bombardment on the outskirts of al-Qayyarah area south of Mosul.

In March, US-led coalition forces conducted several airstrikes in the Iraqi province of Anbar, killing Mohammed Khalaf al-Satouri, a senior official in the ISIS group along with four of his companions in the western district of Hit in Anbar, according to official sources.

Also in March, Thaher Mohammed Salman al-Sabawi, a top ISIS commander in Nineveh province, was reported dead along with other militants from the group, according to Iraqi security sources.

Over the past few days, the hardline group has lost more than three prominent leaders in the US-led coalition airstrikes and bombing by the Iraqi army and the Peshmerga forces on ISIS positions.

The coalition’s airstrikes have also recently killed dozens of prominent ISIS jihadis across Syria besides hitting tactical units, Sharia courts and oil fields held by ISIS. With the death toll increasing in its ranks, the hardline group currently suffers shortage of manpower and financial resources.

IS continues killings as LNA claims offensive against Sirte ready
The so-called Islamic State is reported to have executed by firing squad an army captain, named as Ahnaish Qaddafi, and two other soldiers, both bothers, as it tries to control public dissent in the town amid growing expectations of a military offensive being launched against it. Qaddafi is said to have been a leading member of the Qaddadfa tribe in the Abu Hadi district south of the town.

The two brothers have been named as Abuzeid and Hassan Al-Amari, from Soloug but captured by IS in Derna and then taken to Sirte.

It is also reported that IS has killed five people in Ben Jawad, east of Sirte, among them, on Saturday, two teenagers who were thrown from the roof of the highest building in the place. The reports have not been confirmed, however. Last week it was reported that IS forces had withdrawn from Ben Jawad.

IS is meanwhile said to have heavily mined approaches to Sirte as well as locations inside in a bid to prevent either the Libyan National Army from entering from the east or Misratan forces from the west. IS has also been erecting sand barriers on the roads and there are unconfirmed reports that it has set up several more checkpoints around the town with the aim of preventing people from leaving. Many of the remaining residents are said to have fled the town in recent days ahead of expected attacks.

As to the plans by the LNA and the Miratans to separately launch offensives against Sirte, sources in Ajdabiya say that some LNA forces had arrived there but had not moved on.

Ajdabiya is supposed to be the operations centre for the LNA offensive.

Reports of an LNA air raid on an IS checkpoint west of Sirte cannot be confirmed.

For his part, LNA spokesman Ahmed Mismari speaking in Benghazi today said that the preparations for the attack were complete and it would take place “soon”. He claimed that procedures were now in place to secure the oilfields from IS attacks. He added that Ibrahim Jadhran, Hafter’s main military rival in the east, had been replaced as head of the central region Petroleum Facilities Guard.

Mismari also denied that Hafter had gone to Egypt. The general was actively leading military operations in Libya, he said. Dismissing Thursday’s TV statement from the head of the Presidency Council, Faiez Serraj, he also said that the army took its orders purely from Hafter and the House of Representatives.

Femen gatecrash National Front rally in central Paris
[FRANCE24] Topless Femen activists on Sunday interrupted the French far-right National Front’s (FN) annual May Day gathering for the second year running, baring their chests and toasting "The end of the FN" before being tossed in the slammer
Book 'im, Mahmoud!
At midday, the Femen hard boys, topless and clutching bottles of champagne, burst from a red van parked outside the party's headquarters at Porte de la Villette in northern Gay Paree.

Their torsos were daubed with slogans including "Fascists stay in the shadows" and "Long live the end of the FN".

Their protest was short lived as riot police controlling the gathering moved quickly to arrest them with the enthusiastic help of FN security guards.

Bystanders shouted "Put them under the wheels of your truck" and "Don’t be gentle with them".

The official FN gathering this year, dubbed a "patriotic banquet", took place earlier in the day at Saint Augustin in central Gay Paree, in a break from tradition that usually sees far-right supporters march from another statue of Joan of Arc on Rue de Rivoli, next to the Louvre Museum, to nearby Opéra.

However,
a lie repeated often enough remains a lie...
bitter infighting that saw FN leader Marine Le Pen oust her father Jean-Marie last year meant there were two different rallies at two different Joans and more airing of the family feud.

Jean-Marie Le Pen, 87, kicked out of the party for refusing to tone down racist and anti-Semitic comments, held court at the traditional spot in front of about 400 supporters where he woefully predicted a loss for the FN in next year's presidential elections.

Earlier, Femen posted a picture on Twitter of its topless bandidos holy warriors mopping the ground outside Opéra, under the slogan: "We are proud to clean our democratic and secular streets of Marine Le Pen’s dirty hatred".

Femen activists also gatecrashed the chaotic May 1 demonstration in 2015, when Jean-Marie Le Pen, who was not invited to speak, took to the podium in open defiance of his daughter.

Left wing riots at AfD conference in Stuttgart
That's not how Yahoo titled it, of course...
STUTTGART, Germany (Reuters) - German left-wing demonstrators clashed with police on Saturday as they tried to break up the first full conference of the anti-immigration party Alternative for Germany where Chancellor Angela Merkel's policies came under attack.

Police counted up to 2,000 left-wing protesters, some of whom burned tires and hurled stones and fireworks to try to stop the AfD's congress going ahead in Stuttgart. Some 500 were detained, police said.
I'm surprised Yahoo didn't describe the protesters as "mostly peaceful"...
Two policemen were slightly injured, but there were no reports of injured among the protesters, police spokesman Lambert Maute said.
I think the German police have become a bit too wussified...
Buoyed by the migrant crisis, which saw the arrival of more than one million migrants in Germany last year, the AfD has upended German party politics.

After the congress started late, more than 2,000 AfD members listened to their party leaders' call for an end to Merkel's refugee-friendly politics and a return to Christian values.

"We always wondered when the brave child will finally appear to voice the thoughts of the silent majority and declare that the 'Chancellor of no alternatives' is nothing but naked," said party leader Frauke Petry, 40, in her opening speech.

"And I think, this brave child is us," Petry added.

The violence began around dawn and clashes continued for several hours. Police used pepper spray and threatened to use water cannons to stop protesters, some of whom were masked, from getting onto the grounds of the conference. Some demonstrators still managed to assault several party members, they said.

The AfD has mainly run on an anti-migrant and Islam-critical agenda, but now struggles to unite its various fractions under one party program that could put it on a broader footing. It currently has representatives in half of Germany's sixteen federal state parliaments and the party has its eyes set on next year's federal elections.

Opinion polls see the party coming in at between 10 and 14 percent, a serious challenge to established party politics, though these have ruled out forming any coalition with the AfD.

The AfD however considers itself in good company on a European level, following election gains by far-right parties across the continent.

Petry used her oratorical skills to denounce what she termed the hypocrisy of the ruling elite whose policies, she said, were directed against the interest of ordinary German citizens.
So she's a bit like Trump...

Iraq
Iraq PM orders arrest of Green Zone protesters
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi on Sunday ordered authorities to arrest and prosecute protesters who attacked security forces, politicians and damaged state property after breaking into Baghdad's heavily fortified Green Zone to protest delays in reform plans.

Abadi's statement came a day after hundreds of angry anti-government followers of influential Shiite holy man Moqtada Tater al-Sadr
... the Iranian catspaw holy man who was 22 years old in 2003 and was nearing 40 in 2010. He spends most of his time in Iran, safely out of the line of fire, where he's learning to be an ayatollah...
tore down walls and poured into the parliament building, exacerbating a long-simmering political crisis. Late Saturday, Abadi toured inside the parliament building, walking past damaged furniture.

Videos on social media showed a group of young men surrounding and slapping two Iraqi politicians as they attempted to flee the crowd, while other protesters mobbed politicians' motorcades. Jubilant protesters were also seen jumping and dancing on the parliament's meeting hall tables and chairs and waving Iraqi flags.

The protesters eventually left the parliament Saturday night and rallied at a nearby square.

Al-Sadr and his supporters want to reform the political system put in place following the U.S.-led invasion in 2003, in which entrenched political blocs representing the country's Shiites, Sunnis and Kurds rely on patronage, resulting in widespread corruption and poor public services. The major blocs have until now stymied Abadi's reform efforts.

On Sunday, protesters vowed to continue their sit-in inside the Green Zone until their demands are met.

"We are fed up, we are living a humiliated life," Rasool Hassan, a 37-year old father of three told The Associated Press from inside the Green Zone where thousands gathered in Saddam-era Grand Celebration Square. "We'll leave here only when the corrupt government is replaced with another of independent technocrats that serves the people not the political parties," Hassan added.

"We need new faces not the old ones," said female protester Shatha Jumaa, a 58-year old surgeon. Jumaa, who identified herself as a secularist, said she wanted the current government dissolved and replaced by a small interim administration whose job would be to amend the constitution and to prepare for an early national election.

Iraq has been mired in a political crisis for months, hindering the government's ability to combat ISIS which still controls much of the country's north and west - or address a financial crisis largely prompted by the plunge in global oil prices.

Iraqi security forces initially responded by tightening security across the capital, sealing off checkpoints leading to the Green Zone and halting traffic on main roads heading into the city, according to the Baghdad Operations Command.

Alarmed by the latest development, the UN mission to Iraq said it was "gravely concerned." It issued a statement condemning violence against elected officials and urging "calm, restraint and respect for Iraq's constitutional institutions at this crucial juncture."

Gaza man indicted for Hamas militant activity, operating smuggling tunnel
It's not just an adventure, it's a lifetime career path.
[Ynet] Midhat bin-Fauzi Abu Snima faces 18 state security endangering charges, including firing rockets and mortar shells at IDF soldiers and Israeli civilians, planting explosives on the border fence, and smuggling arms into the Strip.

A Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, operative from Gazoo was indicted on state security endangering charges on Sunday at the Be'er Sheva District Court.

Midhat bin-Fauzi Abu Snima, 24,
24 - 9 = 15 years old when he entered his profession...
who was enjugged
Yez got nuttin' on me, coppers! Nuttin'!
over a month ago, faces 18 charges, including contact with a foreign agent, conspiring to commit murder, attempted murder, conspiring to pass along sensitive information to the enemy with the intention to harm state security, undergoing illegal military training, membership and activity in an unlawful organization, and several weapons offenses.

The indictment provides a glimpse into the recruitment and training process of the Hamas military wing, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, as well as into the thriving smuggling tunnels business between the Gazoo Strip and the Sinai Peninsula.

According to the indictment, Abu Snima joined Hamas in 2007 and operated along with others to harm IDF soldiers, as well as Israeli civilians, on the Gazoo border. The defendant carried out observations of military targets in the Gazoo border area, tracked the movements of IDF troops, and planted bombs against IDF jeeps, with the intention of causing the death of IDF soldiers.

In 2012, after the end of Operation Pillar of Defense, Abu Snima and others launched rockets at an IDF post and fired mortar shells towards the Kerem Shalom Border Crossing.

In addition, Abu Snima participated in Hamas's military training, trained with different kinds of weapons, and underwent both theoretical and practical training in sniping, among others.

The indictment details Abu Snima's training period, which began in 2009 when he underwent a month-long military training for beginners with the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades. During the training period, the defendant, along with 30 others, underwent physical fitness training, learned how to take apart and reassemble a weapon, trained in shooting, learned how to camouflage himself, and more. He also underwent an advance course on operating a PK machine gun, used to fire at jeeps with a light armor, civilian vehicles, and low-flying aircraft.

The defendant was also a joint-owner of a smuggling tunnel, which brought him a good profit. For his share of the tunnel's ownership, he received a monthly pay of $2,000.

In 2014, Abu Snima bought a share in a smuggling tunnel for $7,000. The tunnel, running from Rafah in Gazoo to the Egyptian Rafah, was one kilometer long. The tunnel was destroyed at the end of last year by Egyptian forces flooding it with water.

From 2014 until it was destroyed, the defendant and his partners smuggled military uniforms for Hamas's commando unit, as well as weapons including three bags of AK-47 (Kalashnikov) rifles (each with some 30 rifles), 10 boxes of ammunition and some 35 pipes weighing a total of 50 kilograms used in the manufacturing of rockets.

3 ISIS loyalists surrender to Afghan army after killing 4 Taliban militants

According to the local officials in eastern Kunar province
... which is right down the road from Chitral. Kunar is Haqqani country.....
, the forces of Evil surrendered to the Afghan army in Marwara district.

Provincial governor Wahidullah Kalimzai said the forces of Evil were operating for the ISIS terrorist group in Marwara district.

He said two of the forces of Evil are hailing from Bajaur Agency, aka Turban Central
...Smallest of the agencies in FATA. The Agency administration is located in Khar. Bajaur is inhabited almost exclusively by Tarkani Pashtuns, which are divided into multiple bickering subtribes. of Pakistain while the third Death Eater is originally a resident of Marwara district.

Kalimizai welcomed the forces of Evil for renouncing violence and said they have surrendered to the Afghan armed forces by reaching to a conclusion that the terror groups are only killing their fellow Muslims and are committing atrocities.

This comes as there are concerns that the loyalists of the terror group are attempting to expand foothold in Afghanistan despite the terror group received a major blow in eastern Nangarhar

province.

The forces of Evil of the terror group were hardly hit by the US Arclight airstrikes as well as the Afghan air and ground operations in parts of Nangarhar province amid concerns that they were establishing a regional operations base and consolidate operations with the terror group based in Syria and Iraq.

Hundreds of forces of Evil loyal to the terror group were killed or maimed as US Air Force increased air raids which followed by more authorities granted by the B.O. regime earlier this year.

#4  The troll is back. If you asked the original writers of the Constitution what they meant by the condition of native born, they would have said something along the lines of within the territory of the United States. Given the vast majority of people lived and died within 20 miles of where they were born, at the time, it would be a rational fit. Everything else is 'interpretation' cause we never go through amending the document since the failure of the Equal Rights Amendment did not set well with the ruling caste.

#5  Here are some court citations that show natural born is born of a parent that is a citizen - “natural born Citizen” includes persons born abroad who are citizens from birth based on the citizenship of a parent. That goes back to Blackstone and Vattel, upon whom the founding fathers rested their view of the law and that term. Congress has recognized since the Founding, a person born abroad to a U.S. citizen parent is generally a U.S. citizen from birth with no need for naturalization.

This is also why citizenship should not be given to "anchor babies" of illegals.

#7  I'm fond of the explanation given in this Harvard Law Review article from early last year on the subject. Key graph:

While some constitutional issues are truly difficult, with framing-era sources either nonexistent or contradictory, here, the relevant materials clearly indicate that a “natural born Citizen” means a citizen from birth with no need to go through naturalization proceedings. The Supreme Court has long recognized that two particularly useful sources in understanding constitutional terms are British common law and enactments of the First Congress. Both confirm that the original meaning of the phrase “natural born Citizen” includes persons born abroad who are citizens from birth based on the citizenship of a parent.

The article goes on to discuss these points, and adds that Congress's Naturalization Act of 1790 also extends natural born citizenship to the children of citizen mothers. And in fact the children of the first Chief Justice of the Supreme Court John Jay were born abroad while he was serving the new United States as a diplomat. The article is a quick read with a minimum of legalese.

But even before that he showed a disturbing tendency to distort the truth when talking about Trump. When a mob of OWS and #BlackLivesMatter types rioted at one of Trump's rallies, Cruz was all too quick to jump on the Democrat claim that Trump has fostered a culture of violence in his campaign. Bullshit...Cruz is full of it.

Yemen troops killed as Aden police chief survives bombing
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] A large kaboom hit central Aden on Sunday,an Al Arabiya News Channel correspondent reported, adding that there were several casualties.

The correspondent said the blast targeted the city's governor and security chief.

Four Yemeni guards were killed in a bombing that targeted the convoy of Aden's police chief, officials said, the second such attack on him in the southern city this week.

A bomb-laden car in Aden's Mansura district went kaboom! as General Shallal Shayae's convoy passed, damaging military vehicles and prompting festivities between his guards and Al-Qaeda suspects in the area, the officials added.

Shayae himself escaped unharmed, according to his aides, but medical sources said that four of his guards were killed and eight others were maimed.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the bombing, but Shayae has survived attacks by jihadists more than once, the last of which was just days ago.

On Thursday, a jacket wallah blew up a vehicle packed with explosives when he was stopped at a checkpoint on the perimeter of the compound around Shayae's house, wounding a guard.

In February, suspected Al-Qaeda bully boyz opened fire on a convoy carrying Shayae and Aden governor Aidarus al-Zubaidi, but they escaped unharmed.

Shayae and Zubaidi also survived a boom-mobileing that targeted their convoy in Aden on January 5 killing two of their guards.

Other security officials in Aden, the temporary base of Yemen's Saudi-backed government, have been targeted by bombings and liquidations -- some of which Al-Qaeda or the Islamic State

This is despite Yemen’s UN envoy Ould Cheikh Ahmed saying on Saturday that the warring parties have "come a long way" and share a "common will" to reach a solution.

On Saturday, the Houthi delegation and the General People’s Congress - a political group led by deposed President President-for-Life Ali Abdullah Saleh

The UN envoy stated that despite positive signs of a political understanding between the opposing factions, there are still several obstacles to peace.

In the presser, the UN envoy also stated that there had been no Arclight airstrikes on the country over the past five days.

The envoy added that humanitarian relief has reached various parts of Yemen, where more than 21 million people are in need of aid.

However shortly after the press confrence, Al Arabiya News channel reported bombing raids carried out by Houthi militias against the Popular Resistance in Taiz killed at least two and maimed five.

Key issues to navigate include the withdrawal of gangs, a handover of heavy weapons, the resumption of a political transition and the release of prisoners.

The new phase of meetings comes after the government and rebel delegations each submitted a framework for a political and security solution to end the 13-month war.

The government delegation said their proposal is based on implementing UN Security Council Resolution 2216, which states that the rebels must withdraw from seized territories and disarm before talks can progress.

84 migrants still missing after boat sinks off Libya
Eighty-four migrants are still missing after an inflatable craft sank off the coast of Libya, according to survivors cited by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) on Saturday.

Twenty-six people were rescued from the boat which sank on Friday, and were questioned overnight.

“According to testimonies gathered by IOM in Lampedusa 84 people went missing,” IOM spokesman in Italy Flavio Di Giacomo wrote on his Twitter feed.

Di Giacomo told AFP that the survivors indicated 110 people, all from assorted west African states, had embarked in Libya. In an email, he added that the vessel “was in a very bad state, was taking on water and many people fell into the water and drowned.

“Ten fell very rapidly and several others just minutes later.”
The cost of a one-way ticket from Istanbul to Berlin is about 90 Euros. These people likely paid about 3,000 Euros to be smuggled to Europe. If Chancellor Merkel were true to her words, she'd let them all buy tickets...
Earlier Saturday, Italy’s coastguard said an Italian cargo ship had rescued 26 migrants from a flimsy boat sinking off the coast of Libya but voiced fears that tens more could be missing.

The coastguard received a call from a satellite phone late Friday that helped locate the stricken inflatable and called on the merchant ship to make a detour to the area about four miles (seven kilometres) off the Libyan coast near Sabbath. Rough seas and waves topping two metres (seven feet) hampered attempts to find any other survivors.

The rescued migrants were transferred to two coastguard vessel and taken to the Italian island of Lampedusa. An IOM spokesman said five unaccompanied minors aged between 16 and 17 were among those rescued.

The Grand Turk
Around 20 Syrians readmitted to Turkey under EU migrant deal
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said on Saturday around 20 Syrians had been readmitted to The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
under an EU migrant deal designed to help stem migration to Europe across the Aegean Sea.

According to the text of an address to the nation supplied in advance to the media, Davutoglu said that in return 110 Syrians had been sent to Europe for resettlement.

Turkey and the EU last month sealed a controversial deal intended to halt illegal migration to Europe in return for financial and political rewards for Ankara.

Under the deal, Ankara gets more EU funding for refugees on its soil, revival of long-stalled EU accession talks and visa liberalization for Turks traveling to Europe.

In exchange, Turkey is due to prevent migrants colonists and refugees from departing from its shores for Europe via irregular routes and take back all who reach the 28-nation bloc that way.

While over a million migrants colonists fleeing war and poverty from the Middle East and beyond reached Europe, hundreds have died making the short but precarious crossing from Turkey to the shores of Greek islands in inflatable dinghies.

Davutoglu said the deal with the EU aimed to stop the human tragedy. "We have made a great deal of effort in... showing our Syrian refugee brothers the right channels if they wanted to go to Europe," he said.

On April 27, the Greek government said that 12 Syrians returned to Turkey on a flight chartered by EU border agency Frontex. They had not applied for asylum and wanted to return.

A Turkish official said the 12 were flown to the southern Turkish city of Adana and were then sent to a camp in Osmaniye near the Syrian border.

The Commission is due to decide on Wednesday whether to recommend that member states approve by the end of June the visa waiver scheme which the bloc offered Ankara as part of the deal struck in March.

Turkey’s minister for EU Affairs Volkan Bozkir said on Thursday he expected the Turkish legislation to fully meet the EU criteria on visa liberalization on Monday.

condemned and denounced the attacks by Basher Al-Assad’s forces on the city of Aleppo, causing the destruction of a hospital run by an international organization that killed dozens, including children and doctors.

An official source at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the terrorist act ignores the cessation of hostilities agreement and is contrary to international laws and ethical principles of humanity.

The attacks seek to prevent the supply of humanitarian assistance to the affected people and preempt international efforts to reach a political solution to the crisis, the source said.

The tyrant of Damascus, Bashir al-Assad, by committing this criminal act underlines the lack of seriousness in responding to the demands of the international community.

Assad also proved that he is not serious in solving the Syrian crisis peacefully in accordance with the principles of the Geneva 1 and UN Security Council Resolution 2254, the source commented.

Saudi Arabia called on the international community and allies of Bashir al-Assad, who have committed to the cessation of hostilities, to take necessary measures to stop these attacks and all crimes committed by Assad and his aides against the Syrian people.

At least 20 air strikes hit areas of Syria’s northern city of Aleppo on Saturday, in the ninth straight day of violence, a monitoring group said.

The British-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights did not immediately say whether Syrian government warplanes or Russian jets, which have been supporting Damascus, carried out the strikes.

Bombing by the government side on rebel-held areas of Aleppo since April 22 have killed 140 people including 19 children, the Observatory said.

AMISOM soldiers targeted in grenade bomb in Marka
Suspected Al shabaab members have on Sunday attacked African Union soldiers with hand grenade bomb in Marka town, where Somali Government is struggling to contain a violent insurgency. An eyewitness, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Radio Shabelle that assailants have hurled a grenade on AMISOM soldiers on security patrol and escaped from the scene.

“The blast was huge and could be heard across the city, but I can’t verify the exact casualty figures on the AU soldiers,” said the witness.

In the aftermath of the bomb attack, AU troops have cordoned off the scene of the attack and arrested several people on suspicion of the culprits.

Marka, which is the regional capital of Lower Shabelle has seen a little peace since Somali National Army (SNA), backed by African Union forces drove out Al shabaab from the port city in 2012.

Abu Sayyaf frees ten Indonesian captives
[Gulf Today] Abu Sayyaf militants on Sunday released ten Indonesian crewmen of a tugboat they had abducted more than a month ago off the island province of Tawi-Tawi.

Police chief Wilfredo Cayat said the rebels dropped off the Indonesian crewmen in front of the house of Sulu Governor Abdusakur Tan in the capital town of Jolo. He said, "They were brought inside (Tan’s house). They were fed. Governor Tan called me and turned over the 10 Indonesians to our custody."

An anonymous source disclosed the insurgents freed the hostages after the Indonesian company that owned the tugboat had paid on Friday the $1 miliion ransom they demanded.

The tugboat was bound for Manila on March 28 when was attacked by the militants using a speedboat and took hostage its ten Indonesian crewmen and brought them to Sulu.

Their release comes barely a week after the Abu Sayyaf beheaded on Canadian John Ridsdel for his failure to pay a huge ransom for his release. This drew local and international condemnation led by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau who denounced it as "cold-blooded murder.

Also in Mindanao, members of the communist New People's Army announced the release of six candidates they had abducted in Agusan del Sur province for their failure to pay fees to enable them to campaign, especially in remote areas controlled by the insurgents.

An NPA spokesman confirmed the release of the six candidates who are running for reelection in the municipal council of the town of San Francisco in the May 9 polls. The spokesman said 20 heavily-armed NPA militants stopped and kidnapped the seven candidates on their way home after a campaign event in an "NPA held territory" on April 25.

The insurgents also shot and injured another candidate when he tried to escape, said the spokesman but did not say whether their six hostages had paid the so-called "permit to campaign fees".
