-Lurid Crime Tales-
Katie Couric's Anti-Gun Producers Repeatedly Violated Federal Gun Laws
Ooops....
Katie, get your gun lawyer.

By now you've probably heard about Katie Couric's new anti-gun documentary "Under The Gun," and how her producer doctored video of interviews with gun owners in order to make them look stupid and heartless. Couric's producer and director, Stephanie Soechtig, admitted to doctoring the video, and Couric herself kinda sorta apologized for it.

But that's not the worst thing that happened with the making of this documentary. It turns out that Couric's production team deliberately conspired to violate federal gun laws. According to video obtained by Ammoland, a shooting sports news website, one of Couric's producers deliberately committed at least four separate felonies by purchasing four separate firearms across state lines without a background check.

In the video, Soechtig openly admits that she directed one of her employees to purchase guns across state lines, and that he absolutely followed her orders:
And "just following orders" isn't a valid defense
SOECHTIG: We sent a producer out and he was from Colorado. He went to Arizona, and he was able to buy a Bushmaster and then three other pistols without a background check in a matter of four hours. And that's perfectly legal. He wasn't doing some sort of underground market.

nd he just met someone in the parking lot of Wendy's and bought a Bushmaster. Legally. Like, this is legal.

Except it's not legal. Like, it's illegal. Super duper illegal. Quadruple illegal in the case of the Soechtig employee who purchased four firearms across state lines without processing the sale through a federal firearms licensee (FFL) in his home state of Colorado.

Federal law is abundantly clear on what types of transactions require federal background checks. Gun owners tend to understand these laws incredibly well. Gun controllers like Soechtig do not. Under federal law, all gun purchases from an FFL must be accompanied by a federal background check. It doesn't matter if the FFL sells a gun at a retail location, at a gun show, or out of the back of a car in a Wendy's parking lot. All FFL transactions require a federal background check. It doesn't matter who you are or where you're from: if you buy a gun from an FFL, the FFL must confirm that you have passed a federal background check.

Next we have interstate purchases, all of which must be conducted through an FFL in the buyer's home state. It is illegal to purchase a gun across state lines unless the transaction is processed through an FFL in the buyer's home state. And what did we just learn about all FFL purchases? That they require federal background checks. Ergo, all interstate purchases must be accompanied by federal background checks.

What does that mean? It means that a producer who resides in Colorado cannot legally buy a gun in Arizona unless that gun is shipped to an FFL in Colorado, whereby that FFL confirms that the Colorado resident can legally own that firearm. The Colorado resident who bought the gun from someone in Arizona cannot take possession of that gun until the Colorado FFL receives the gun from Arizona and confirms that the Colorado buyer can legally own that weapon. Once that happens, the Colorado FFL would transfer possession of the gun to the Colorado buyer.

The federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives even has a handy FAQ on its website which directly answers the question of whether you can buy a gun across state lines:

How may an unlicensed person receive a firearm in his or her State that he or she purchased from an out-of-State source?

An unlicensed person who is not prohibited from receiving or possessing firearms may purchase a firearm from an out-of-State source, provided the transfer takes place through a Federal firearms licensee in his or her State of residence.

[18 U.S.C 922(a)(3) and 922(b)(3); 27 CFR 478.29]

But that's not what happened according to Soechtig's very own testimony. According to Soechtig, she gave direct orders to an employee of hers who lives in Colorado to buy some guns in Arizona without undergoing a federal background check. He then acted on those orders, and, according to Soechtig's own admission, proceeded to illegally purchase four separate firearms from a seller in Arizona. And if he was purchasing the guns for Soechtig rather than himself, you can add illegal straw purchases to the list of federal crimes.
Can we get them on a RICO charge too?
Soechtig's employee, acting on her orders, repeatedly violated federal gun laws. And he did so not just because of his own monumental ignorance, but because of the aggressive ignorance of Stephanie Soechtig, Katie Couric's hand-picked producer, director, and writer of the anti-gun documentary.

Soechtig's chest-thumping ignorance and arrogance on display in that interview;"Legally. Like, this is legal."-are a perfect example of why so many gun owners care so little about the opinions of sanctimonious gun controllers. Because they have absolutely no clue what they're talking about. They don't understand how guns work. They don't understand crime statistics. They don't know the difference between semi-automatic and automatic. And they can't even deign to spend 5 minutes researching actual gun laws before declaring that those laws just aren't sufficient.

The one thing gun controllers all agree on, however, is that strong enforcement of commonsense gun laws is key to preventing senseless gun violence. Katie Couric, Stephanie Soechtig, and their entire anti-gun documentary team now have a chance to put their money where their mouths are. If enforcement of federal gun laws is essential to preventing gun violence, then Soechtig and her team must pay the price for their willful and admitted violations of federal gun laws.

When Soechtig and her team plea to federal charges for violating the nation's commonsense gun laws, we'll know they're serious about cutting down on gun crime. Until then, we'll know they're just a bunch of ignorant, gun-trafficking profiteers who want to take away our rights while they violate with absolute impunity the very laws they demand.

Russian Subs Waging Cold War-Style ‘Battle of the Atlantic'
I think I've seen this movie already...
Russia has stepped up its submarine operations and is regularly probing U.S. anti-submarine networks in a new "Battle of the Atlantic," the commander of U.S. 6th Fleet said.

In an article for the U.S. Naval Institute’s June issue of Proceedings, Vice Adm. James Foggo III outlined a new era in U.S. and Russian submarine warfare he dubs "The Fourth Battle of the Atlantic."
"Russians don't shit without a plan, son..."
In his piece, Foggo compares the current uptick in Russian submarine posture to the great submarine battles between the Allies and the Germans in World War I and World War II and the Soviets and the U.S. during the Cold War.

"Once again, an effective, skilled, and technologically advanced Russian submarine force is challenging us. Russian submarines are prowling the Atlantic, testing our defenses, confronting our command of the seas, and preparing the complex underwater battlespace to give them an edge in any future conflict," Foggo wrote.
"Not only have Russia’s actions and capabilities increased in alarming and confrontational ways, its national-security policy is aimed at challenging the United States and its NATO allies and partners."
"One ping only, Vasily."
Since the Russian seizure of Crimea in 2014, Russian Navy surface ships, aircraft and submarines have been much more active in presence operations ‐ particularly the submarines.
"Andrei - you've lost another submarine?"

Pournelle on Trump, Part 1
It’s official. Trump has enough delegates to win a majority on the first ballot, so barring an assassination ‐ not an impossible event ‐ he will be the Republican nominee. The Republican Establishment got both houses of Congress and a majority of Governors, but was a miserable failure at opposition. The deficit rose and rose, the budget grew and grew, the size of government went up and up, government workers got more and more pay, and meanwhile the Depression continued. Unemployment officially went down to manageable levels, but only because definitions were changed, so that those who just gave up and stopped looking for employment were no longer "unemployed" and were not counted in figuring the unemployment rate.

So we don’t have long lines of people looking for work; instead they sullenly stay home, or a few joyfully take the dole, food stamps, and all the other entitlements. Most Americans don’t like doing that. They want jobs. But the jobs are gone, sent overseas along with the equipment they worked with, and the economy settled into one of opening containers of goods from China, and "paying" for these cheap goods by borrowing the money from China to give it to the not-unemployed people who used to have jobs but don’t any more. And the deficit grows, the economy stagnates, people get more angry, and many of the Republican establishment long for the old days when nobody expected them to WIN for heaven’s sake. They were the permanent opposition, always employed with great benefits and retirement, and no ambition to be much more. They ran the only man Bill Clinton could beat in 1996, after which the defeated candidate made Viagra adds.

It may be that Mr. Trump can’t put America first, but he says he wants to. No one else even thinks it is a good idea. At which point I conclude that what the Republicans want to conserve is their jobs as opposition leaders who don’t have to govern. Maybe I’m just bitter. Of course for a while they did govern. They invaded the only real opposition Iran faced, hanged the former leader, disbanded his army, set an oppressed majority up to govern after disarming their former master, were shocked when the Shia began to oppress the Sunni ‐ shocked, I tell you. But it was done democratically, wasn’t it?

Any business run the way the government conducts its business wouldn’t be in business long; fortunately they have an infinite capacity for borrowing money. Each of us owes north of $50,000 so far. You say that’s not that bad, and I point out that each means just that: a family of man, wife, and two children owes more than $200,000, each baby born owes $50,000. Sand that’s this year. Four years from now it will be well over $60,000 each. And the debt goes ever upward.

Salve, Sclave.

Mr. Trump is not an ideal candidate; but when we did run what looked like good candidates, they grew in office, and the budget went up, the deficit went up, the Depression continued, we entered wars in which our interest was not easily discerned and certainly was not served. I guess I had better get me a Trump hat.

-Land of the Free
Thx to EPA and Corps of Engineers, American farmers are a newly endangered species
[Fox] It is getting harder and harder, and in legal terms more dangerous, to be an American farmer these days, thanks to the aggressive behavior of the federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
This did not happen overnight by the way. It's been an on-going effort for at least 50 - 60 years.
I know, because I’m paid as a consultant to advise farmers in California on how best to comply with federal regulations under the Clean Water Act (CWA).

Increasingly, those regulations are changing at the arbitrary say-so of the Corps regulators who implement the EPA’s regulations on the ground, even though most practices followed by American farmers have been exempted from CWA prohibitions since it was written in 1977.

In the past few years, those regulators--many of whom admit that they know very little about farming or agricultural practices--are radically reinterpreting the rules to limit what farmers do, even on land where they have done similar things for decades.

The eerie thing is that there have been no amendments to the CWA to make these changes in oversight possible.

In many places, for example, Corps regulators now send threatening letters to farmers who switch from one crop to another, such as rice to orchards, or perform routine plowing. The Corps says the farmers can be performing a "land-use" change that suddenly puts a farm under Corps jurisdiction.

SA's dogfight to save rhino
[Times Live] From drones to toxic mass relocations, South Africa's war on poaching is being fought on many fronts. But one of the most effective weapons in the arsenal comes in canine form.

An initiative of the Ichikowitz Family Foundation, the operation puts together dogs and handlers to be trained using special forces techniques to try to stem the scourge of poaching that has resulted in thousands of rhino and other endangered animals being killed in South Africa and other African countries in the past decade.

Conservationists, the government and landowners are trying more military-oriented operations with dogs and their handlers to stem the illegal trade in wildlife.

Bill Clinton: Whites without college degrees '€˜need to be brought along to the future'
[Wash Times] Former President Bill Clinton told a New Jersey crowd Wednesday that non-college educated whites "need to be brought along to the future."

Mr. Clinton campaigned for his wife in Crandford by tearing into Republican presidential hopeful Donald Trump’s comments on illegal immigration. He then implied that Mr. Trump’s supporters cling to a vision for America that is better left in the past.

"We have been told over and over again in this election we ought to build a wall against Mexico, we ought to stop the Muslims from coming in, we want to do all this stuff," Mr. Clinton said, Yahoo News reported. "Let me tell you, all those people who want to do that -- and one in particular -- forget what the real security challenges we face are."

The former president then turned his attention to non-college-educated white Americans. Exit polling in early April showed roughly half of Republican primary voters with high school diplomas or less support the real estate mogul.

"We all need to recognize that white, non-college-educated Americans have seen great drops in their income, have seen great increases in their unemployment rate, have seen drops in their life expectancy, and they need to be brought along to the future. But they can’t live under the illusion that you can reclaim a past which is just that -- past. This country is always about the future," Mr. Clintonsaid.

Recent polls pitting Mr. Trump against Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton for the 2016 U.S. presidential election show the race as a tossup. A recent ABC News/Washington Post poll suggests the billionaire would win by two percentage points, while an NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll gave Mrs. Clinton a three-point victory.

"We are looking at ... the most disliked candidates in a single election," said Jennifer Dineen, a University of Connecticut polling expert and director of the school’s joint poll with the Hartford Courant newspaper, The Hill reported Thursday. "You’re not determining who’s supporting a candidate; you are trying to determine how strongly someone opposes a candidate."

VFW blasts Obama for asserting members are confused by right-wing media
[Wash Times] In attacking Donald Trump, President Obama has managed to anger one of the nation’s largest and oldest veterans’ groups.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars took offense at Mr. Obama’s assertion that its members are confused by right-wing media pundits.

"I don’t know how many VFW posts the president has ever visited," VFW National Commander John A. Biedrzycki Jr. said Thursday, "but our near 1.7 million members are a direct reflection of America, which means we represent every generation, race, religion, gender and political and ideological viewpoint."

He added, "We don’t have confused politics, we don’t need left- or right-wing media filters telling us how to think or vote, and we don’t need any president of the United States lecturing us about how we are individually effected by the economy."

During a speech Wednesday in Elkhart, Indiana Mr. Obama said, "I’m concerned when I watch the direction of our politics. I mean, we have been hearing this story for decades -- tales about welfare queens, talking about takers, talking about the 47 percent. It’s the story that’s broadcast every day on some cable news stations, on right-wing radio. It’s pumped into cars and bars and VFW halls all across America, and right here in Elkhart."

The president went on, "If you’re hearing that story all the time, you start believing it. It’s no wonder people think big government is the problem. No wonder public support for unions is so low. No wonder that people think the deficit has gone up under my presidency when it’s actually gone down."

#1  What part of Romney's bit about 47% of Americans depending on some form of government funded income and so that they would oppose any government reform was factually incorrect (whether or not you agree with Romney about anything else)?

What part about Reagan's observation that we have multigenerational welfare families (read: single mommies and disability cheats) was factually incorrect?

What part of Bill Clinton's observation that the era of big government should end was factually incorrect?

Why are four of the richest counties in the U.S. the ones surrounding Washington D.C., their wealth consisting of public functionaries, bureaucrats, regulators, and the lawyers and lobbyists who bribe them for favors, instead of places where actual private sector productivity occurs?

Why is this pattern repeated around state capitals and state-funded university towns across America?

Rush: Champ Has Lost It Because He's '€˜Jealous Of Trump'
[Daily Caller] Rush Limbaugh says that Barack Obama is has lost it because he is "jealous" of Donald Trump and would "love to experience what Trump is experiencing."

Thursday on "The Rush Limbaugh Show," the conservative radio host argued that Obama is "livid that Trump is so creative on Twitter. [Obama is] jealous as hell of it and he’s angry that people respond positively to it."

Limbaugh said, "Okay, here’s the piece de resistance... Obama finally loses it. This is what happens, no teleprompter, he finally got to Trump. He got around to talking about Trump. He’s unloaded on me, he’s unloaded on Fox News, now it was time to unload on Trump."

The radio host then played Obama’s stammering speech from Elkhart, Indiana on Wednesday when he said, "If we turn against each other based on division of race or religion. If-if-if-if-if-if-if-if-if-if-if-if we fall for, you know, a bunch of okie-doke, just because, you know it-it-it. You know, it-it-it-it-it-it sounds funny or the tweets are provocative. Then we’re not going to build on the progress that we started."

PAK group sez: 'Men Should Be Allowed to 'Lightly' Beat Wives'
[US News] An Islamic group advised the government of Pakistan to allow men to "lightly beat" their wives, and some women are having none of it.

The recommendation, which came from the Council of Islamic Ideology, a body that the BBC says "advises the government on religious aspects of the law and society," is part of a larger "women's protection bill" that also forbids women from attending receptions for visiting foreign dignitaries, and female nurses from caring for male patients.

According to the BBC, the CII's recommendations to the government are not binding and have been ignored in the past.

In response to the proposed bill, photographer Fahhad Rajper released 12 photographs of Pakistani women on Facebook and Twitter on Sunday that included the hashtag #TryBeatingMeLightly, Mic reports.

-Signs, Portents, and the Weather-
Nihilistic culture may be a factor in spike of US death rates
[Breitbart] Health experts are now stunned by a rise in the nation’s overall death rates -- the first in a decade, and really one of the few in a quarter-century that didn't have a fairly clear explanation.

"The death rate rose to 729.5 deaths per 100,000 people in 2015, up from 723.2 in 2014, according to the National Center for Health Statistics. It was one of the few times in the past 25 years that the rate has increased. A bad flu season pushed it up in 2005, and AIDS and the flu contributed to a sharp increase in 1993. In 1999, there was a tiny increase," the New York Times reports.

This time around, a combination of drug overdoses, suicide, heart disease, and Alzheimer's were proposed as explanations. More precisely, the chief of mortality statistics at the National Center for Health Statistics, Robert Anderson, said the death rate from heart disease has "flattened" after declining for decades, giving other causes of death a greater share of the overall rate.

The Times stresses that researchers find the rise in death rates "surprising," and are not yet certain if new data is only caused by the recently recognized "white death" bump in mortality rates for middle-aged whites. An increase in mortality rates from suicide and drug abuse among less-educated younger white Americans may also be a factor.

The increasing mortality rates from Alzheimer's and related neurological conditions are puzzling. An explanation similar to the heart-disease anomaly has been suggested ‐ in short, medical science is helping more people live long enough to be afflicted by "diseases of the elderly." Other researchers suggest lifestyle factors leading to obesity, hypertension, and diabetes -- bad diet and less exercise -- have increased the risk of neurological disorders. Perhaps we will learn that substance abuse, and other behavioral factors like those driving the "white death," are also bumping up the rates of neurological disease in the Baby Boom elderly.

Karousing through Kunduz: 2 die
Taliban kill 2 more kidnapped passengers in Kunduz province

[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The Talibs have killed two more kidnapped passengers in northern Kunduz province of Afghanistan, local officials said Thursday.

The officials further added that the two passengers were among 10 in jug of the Taliban after they were kidnapped on Tuesday morning.

Provincial security chief Mohammad Masoom Hashemi said the Talibs handed over the dead bodies of the kidnapped passengers to the residents of Chardara district.

This comes as earlier reports suggested at least 17 of the kidnapped passengers have been killed by the Taliban insurgnets but the local officials are saying 13 of them were killed and 10 others were kept in their custody.

The Taliban Lions of Islam kidnapped at least 185 passengers after establishing check post in Shina Tepa area of Aliabad district around 2 am local time on Tuesday.

The majority of the passengers were released after they were interrogated and but some of them were killed.

In the meantime, the security officials said Wednesday that 10 of the passengers were rescued during a security operation launched following the kidnapping.

The Taliban group said the passengers kept in their custody are members of the security forces who were travelling in the buses in civilian clothes.

Taliban's Massacre of Passengers Sparks Outrage

Thousands of protestors flocked to the streets of Kabul and Badakhshan provinces on Thursday to express their outrage over the recent killing of several bus passengers by Taliban militants.

The incident occurred on Tuesday on the Kunduz-Baghlan highway.

Protestors in Kabul who staged the demonstration at the call of Green Trend strongly condemned the Taliban for the murders and called on government to explain its policy on the new Taliban leader.

"We are here to express our hatred and resentment against a terrorist group known as Taliban," protestor Nasir Ahmad Farahmand said.

"If they (government) can not maintain law and order in society and can not describe the friend and foe, then what does government want from the nation," a member of Green Trend, Mahmood Akbari said.‎

"The purpose of our participation is to seek justice for those who were killed and taken hostage on Kunduz-Baghlan highway," another protester Mashallah Harakat said.

In the northern regions, hundreds of protesters poured on to the streets in Faizabad city, the center of Badakhshan province, to denounce the act of violence against the innocent civilians. Protesters called on government to take swift action and serve justice on the perpetrators who planned the act of terrorism against the passengers.

"People must unite with the security forces and seek revenge of the blood of our civilians from the Taliban," a resident of Badakhshan Ziauddin Wasiq said.

"We want the government to clarify its confusing policy toward the Taliban after Mansour and the recent crime which has been committed from the address of Hibatullah Akhundzada, the government must act and declare Hibatullah and his party as a terrorist organization to the United Nations," a protestor in Badakhshan, Mohammad Osman Sayedkhaili said.

Meanwhile, The UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) said in a statement Thursday it is deeply concerned at the spate of abductions, hostage-taking and summary executions carried out in recent days against passengers travelling in civilian vehicles.

Two incidents of mass kidnappings have taken place since Tuesday.

In the first incident, armed Taliban fighters stopped a number of busses on the Kunduz-Baghlan highway in the early hours of Tuesday morning. Insurgents executed 10 men from a group of nearly 200 men, women and children. The bulk of the hostages were freed but ten remained. Insurgents subsequently beheaded two of the eight.

Meanwhile, Afghanistan's Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah has also condemned the Taliban for carrying out the brutal crime against the passengers.

"No one is supposed to gain something from the killing of innocents, the act of oppression which was committed against the civilians in Kunduz deserves strong condemnation, because the act is an act of crime and repression," Abdullah said.

Protesters warned that if the government fails to secure the people, there will not an option for the people except to act against the terrorists.

Lack Of Orders Slowed Down Hostage Operation

Afghan security forces struggling against Taliban in Ali Abad district of Kunduz have said that despite the information they received about the abduction of 200 passengers by the Taliban, they were not allowed to conduct an attack on the Taliban militants.

The commander of Afghan public protection force in Amarkhail village of Ali Abad district where the Taliban kidnapped the passengers told TOLOnews correspondent Sharif Amiry on Thursday that the war order was issued when the Taliban had transferred the hostages to a secret location.

On Thursday, the Afghan forces launched their operation against the Taliban in Amarkhail village.

In the second incident, insurgents abducted 17 bus passengers in Sar-e-Pul province on Wednesday.

Meanwhile a local Afghan National Police (ANP) officer has said that the Kunduz security forces were informed by the local people at around 4:00am of the kidnapping.

"Local people informed us about 4:00 am, when we got in touch with our commanders, they reached the area after one hour, but the Taliban had taken all passengers already," he said.

Seven killed in two days of violence in southern Thailand
[BenarNews] Four militants and a Thai paramilitary soldier died Wednesday in a shootout in the mountains of Narathiwat province, a day after two paramilitary soldiers died in a roadside attack elsewhere in southern Thailand. The four rebels who were killed in the gun battle in Ban Aigis mountains were suspected of having taken part in the seizure by rebels of a local hospital.

The killings over a two day period brought to 44 the number of people who have died since February 10 in a surge of violence linked to southern Thailand's long-running separatist insurgency.

Wednesday's firefight broke out as the Narathiwat Task Force was hunting down suspected rebels. The paramilitary soldier who was killed was identified as Anusak Amrod, and two of the dead militants were identified as Lugman Latehbuering and Bueraheng Arwaema. Lugman and Bueraheng were wanted for their suspected roles in the seizure of a hospital in Cho-irong district on March 13.

Three or four other rebels were wounded, but managed to escape.

On Tuesday night, two paramilitary soldiers died after being hit by a roadside bomb and then shot in Narathawit's Ra-ngae district. Military officials found a motorbike along the road, and later found the bodies of paramilitaries Sirawut Nuanwong and Chakpong Chaipat, whose weapons had been taken.

Black Lives Matter Leader Charged With Sex Trafficking Is Also An Alleged Charity ‘Scammer’
[DAILYCALLER] In addition to being an accused child sex trafficker, Black Lives Matter activist Charles Wade is a financial "scammer," says a lawyer for a St. Louis real estate developer who lost more than $10,000 after Wade skipped town last year without paying rent.

By some estimates, Wade, a former stylist for Beyonce Knowles’ sister Solange, took in hundreds of thousands of dollars in online donations for a group called Operation Help or Hush (OHOH) that he co-founded in the wake of the Aug. 9, 2014 police shooting of Michael Brown. The group’s stated mission was to provide temporary housing for protesters in the St. Louis area.

Wade, 33, drew national attention earlier this month after The Daily Caller reported that he was incarcerated
Youse'll never take me alive coppers!... [BANG!]... Ow!... I quit!
on April 25 on sex trafficking charges. Police in College Park, Md. say that Wade pimped out a 17-year-old girl using the website backpage.com. She told police that she gave Wade all of the money she was paid to have sex and that Wade knew she was only 17.

Afghanistan dismiss skills endorsement of Taliban chief by Pakistan’s Sami-ul-Haq
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] An influential Pak religious scholar who was once labeled as the ’Father of Taliban’ has endorsed the war skills of the newly-appointed Taliban chief.

The Afghan defense officials dismissed the skills endorsement by Sami-ul-Haq and said the Mullah Haibatullah Akhundzada
...Deputy to Taliban supremo Mullah Akhtar Mansour...
is neither a religious holy man nor he has skills in military.

A front man for the Ministry of Defense Dawlat Waziri said Mullah Akhundzada would not kill the civilians if he was a military expert and had religious knowledge.

Sami-ul-Haq warned that Afghanistan would see a surge in violence following the ascension of new Taliban leader Mullah Haibatullah.

"Those who think that Haibatullah is a mere holy man and a seminary preacher will soon bear witness to his skill as a krazed killer commander," he told Dawn after a Defence of Pakistain Council (DPC) meeting in the capital on Monday.

He blamed the United States for the persistent violence and said "It was America that resorted to violence again; the liquidation of Mullah Mansour is nothing short of murder."

Mullah Mansoor was killed in a drone strike in Balochistan

The Taliban group announced the appointment of Mullah Akhundzada as its new chief shortly after the death of Mullah Mansoor was confirmed.

Syrian rebel forces capture 3 villages in Manbij
[ARA News] MANBIJ – Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) recaptured three new villages form the radical group of Islamic State (ISIS) near Manbij city in northern Syria, military sources said on Thursday.

Subsequent to fierce clashes, the SDF expelled ISIS from the villages of Sheikh Ubaid, al-Haloula and Aloush on the western bank of the Euphrates near Manbij.

“So far our forces have liberated 20 villages from Daesh terrorists in the new campaign,” SDF officer Habun Osman told ARA News, using an acronym for ISIS. “At least 25 Daesh terrorists were killed since Wednesday.”

On Tuesday, the US-backerd SDF troops launched an operation to capture Manbij and it’s countryside from the extremist group of Islamic State (ISIS). The newly established city council of Manbij released a statement on Wednesday suggesting that the liberation is near.

A spokesman for the US-led coalition, which backs the SDF in its war on ISIS, told ARA News in an earlier interview that for the US “it’s critical that the ISIS-held Manbij pocket of 98-kilometers is seized from the radical group”.

“As to why the Manbij pocket is important, it represents a major border crossing point where foreign fighters can cross into Syria from Turkey,” said Colonel Christopher Garver, a spokesperson for the US-led coalition against the Islamic State.

Misratans lose jet during heavy Sirte fighting
Always in the last place you look.
A Mig from Misrata crashed today. IS terrorists in Sirte claimed they had shot it down. Misrata said the aircraft had suffered mechanical failure and that the pilot had bailed out safely.

Claim and counterclaim have charactised the recent fighting. IS also insisted that the same warplane had, in error, earlier bombed Misratan positions to the west of Sirte. The Misratans said five missions had been flown against IS but it was not clear if they were all by the same aircraft.

What is clear is that today has seen stiff fighting with the thrust of the Misratan attack shifting from the west to the south of the town with an advance towards Gardabya airport and military airbase. IS denied reports that they had abandoned the position.

There were reports that the Misratans had been shelling the centre of Sirte for the first time. It However, it also appears that an IS counterattack retook lost ground near the Gulf Power station from which the terrorists were driven out on Sunday. This assault began with another of the devastating truck bombs (SVBIED – Suicide vehicle-borne Improvised Explosive Device). IS posted a picture of the driver, naming him as Abu Musab Al-Kini from Kenya.

The terrorists claimed that 12 armoured vehicles were destroyed and 48 killed, which if true would have made this suicide attack worse than the May 18 truck bomb which killed 32 fighters. Misrata insisted that today’s SVBIED killed just two soldiers and injured a dozen.

Yesterday the Misratans said they had destroyed another truck bomb before it could reach reach its target.

[IsraelTimes] Top Islamic State commander reportedly promises to aid smuggling at Egyptian border in exchange for advanced weapons

...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
commander in Sinai Shadi Al-Menii met with Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, officials in Gazoo Thursday in order to discuss cooperation between the two terrorist groups, according to a Channel 2 report.
It's pretty bad when even a local television station has spies in Hamas's inner circle.
Al-Menii, who belongs to one of the Bedouin tribes in the north of the Sinai peninsula, fled to the Gazoo Strip in May of 2015 after his organization attacked a military base and killed an Egyptian soldier, Haaretz reported. A bounty worth one million Egyptian pounds was placed on his head.

According to Channel 2, Al-Menii’s branch of IS in Sinai were to help Hamas operatives smuggle arms into the strip via tunnels in return for sophisticated weapons.

Israeli officials have often claimed that there is a quiet cooperation between Hamas and IS in Sinai. In July 2015 former defense minister Moshe Ya’alon said Hamas had joined forces with IS turbans fighting the Egyptian army in Sinai, Haaretz reported.

"There exists a cooperation between Hamas in Gazoo and IS in Sinai," Ya’alon said.

"In the [Gazoo] Strip, Hamas is fighting IS offshoots, but on the other hand, [Hamas] is cooperating with IS in the Sinai peninsula in their offensive against the Egyptian army.

Police: Anti-Islamic march through Rotherham will be allowed
[StarUK] A 'silent march' through Rotherham by an anti-Islamic group will be allowed to proceed this weekend, police have confirmed.

South Yorkshire Police said the 'criteria required to prevent a procession' has not been met after an open letter was sent by representatives of the local Muslim community asking the force's interim chief constable Dave Jones asking for the march to be cancelled.

The Pegida group, led by English Defense League founder Tommy Robinson, plans a 'silent walk' in Rotherham on Saturday afternoon to protest the town's child sexual exploitation scandal. The march will follow speeches outside the town hall.

Local councilors, business owners and groups such as British Muslim Youth, the Rotherham Muslim Community Forum and the Rotherham Council of Mosques had signed a letter calling for the march to be cancelled - citing fears over racial tensions.

Egypt's army says it killed 22 militants in North Sinai in 3rd phase of Martyr's Right
[AlAhram] Phase three of Operation Martyr's Right has seen over 100 murderous Moslems killed so far, according to army statements

With the help of navy, air and police forces, Egypt's army announced killing 22 murderous Moslems in North Sinai and the detention of five others, a statement by army spokesperson Mohammed Samir announced Thursday.

As a continuation of an earlier campaign that started in September 2015, the army recently announced that it began the third phase of the operation, named Martyr's Right.

On 25 May, Samir announced that during the third phase the army killed 88 murderous Moslems in central and North Sinai.

Armed forces have also created many security checkpoints all over Sinai, to gain more control.

"The military were able to destroy 28 hideouts and nine houses," the statement read.

Martyr's Right is the largest and most comprehensive military operation aimed at rooting out murderous Moslems operating in the restive peninsula.

The Egyptian army announced the end of the first stage of the operation, which lasted 16 days, on 22 September, after the "achievement of its primary objectives."

The first phase of the operation concluded with the reported killing of over 500 murderous Moslems and the destruction of various Death Eater hideouts and artillery storage facilities in North Sinai.

Phase three of the operation, according to a statement released by the army, will "pave the way for creating suitable conditions to start economic development projects in Sinai."

Palestinian woman tries to stab soldiers, is shot dead — IDF
[IsraelTimes] No troops injured in incident at an army outpost near the West Bank city of Nablus

A Paleostinian woman approached a military outpost in the West Bank Thursday and attempted to stab a group of soldiers. The troops opened fire and shot her dead, the army said.

According to the Israel Defense Forces, the woman tried to attack the soldiers who were stationed at a pillbox-style guard post near the Einav settlement, northwest of the Paleostinian city of Nablus.

Forces at the scene "responded to the immediate threat by shooting the attacker and killing her," the IDF said in a statement.

No Israeli soldiers were maimed.

It was not immediately clear how the woman attempted to stab the soldiers if they were inside the post’s concrete guard tower when she approached, and the IDF was still investigating the incident to determine what exactly happened, a spokesperson said.

The Paleostinian woman’s name and age were not immediately released.

After nearly six months of regular stabbing attacks in the West Bank and Israel, the past two months have seen a marked decrease in the number of such incidents.

Saiqa commander killed in mine blast
One of Saiqa Special Forces’ commanders was killed yesterday in a mine explosion in Benghazi’s Gwarsha district. Also killed with Colonel Ali Murtaja Al-Tawerghi, was a member of his team, Abdulsalam Al-Shatshat.

Gwarsha and other areas in Benghazi previously controlled by Ansar Al-Sharia and it allies are littered with mines laid by them, preventing Saiqa and other Libyan National Army (LNA) units from moving forward.

In thearea from Ben Jawad to Abu Grain, too, vast amounts of mines laid by the so-called Islamic State (IS) are making it extremely difficult for the Misratan-led armed forces from the west and the Petroleum Forces Guard from the east to advance towards Sirte. Almost every day there are reports of men from one or other of the two forces being killed by mines.

According to de-mining experts who now class Libya as the second most mined country in the world after Afghanistan, tens of thousands of mainly Italian-made mines, previously stockpiled in the Tobruk area and elsewhere in the country, are now to the hands of both Ansar Al-Sharia and IS. They claim that the former Ali Zeidan government was warned of such a danger near three years ago and of the need to secure the ordinance but did nothing about it.

Death rises after attack on a hotel in Mogadishu
Authorities in Somalia have raised the death toll from car bomb and Gun attack that targeted Ambassador hotel in Mogadishu on Wednesday to nearly 20 people, with another 50 wounded.

The deadly attack occurred on Wednesday afternoon at around 5:30 P.M. local time, when a car bomb went off at the main gate of the hotel, and followed by heavy gunfire, according to witnesses. Armed Al shabaab Gunmen stormed the hotel building after blasting their way onto the ground with car packed with explosives. The attack turned into a siege that continued through the night.
This is SOP for the Shaboobs. They generally use a car bomb or two to clear a path through whatever security is present at the target. Then the gunnies come charging in, kill everyone they can, and set up a perimeter. They'll then plan to take down as many more security agents as they can.
Speaking at a press in Mogadishu, NISA chief Gen Abirahman Turyare said Somalia’s especial forces have successfully ended the stand-off at the hotel after killing two armed Al shabaab attackers.

He said 3 attackers from Al shabaab have carried the hotel attack, but one was killed at the gate while the two remaining gunmen holed up in the building before they were shot dead by NISA forces late on Wednesday night. Most of the hostages, including four legislators have been rescued and security forces have taken control of the hotel building located along Makka Al Mukarama street in Mogadishu.

Two Somali Lawmakers were among 20 people killed in the siege, while 50 others sustained injures in the shootout between Somali troops and Al shabaab attackers.

The Somali security troops have battled the attackers inside the hotel for almost 15 hours. Al shabaab has claimed responsibility for the attack, saying they have achieved their target.

CTD eliminates six ‘militants’
[DAWN] LAYYAH: The Counter Terrorism Department of Multan police claimed on Wednesday to have eliminated six murderous Moslems during a raid at their hideout near Angora goat farm.

The operation was conducted in the jurisdiction of the Chobara cop shoppe.

A CTD official told journalists that law enforcers got information that some murderous Moslems belonging to the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistain (TTP) and Al Qaeda had taken shelter in an area of Layyah and planned to target government offices and employees.

A CTD team of Multan police, he said, raided the hideout and asked the suspects to surrender but they shot up the police team and lobbed hand grenades. The raiding team effectively responded and after some time found six of the murderous Moslems dead, he said, adding that they were rubbed out by the firing of their accomplices. Two murderous Moslems escaped in the dead of the night, he added.

The dead bodies were shifted to Layyah’s DHQ hospital for postmortem.

The CTD police recovered two hand grenades, two automatic rifles and other weapons.

Sources told Dawn that one of the dear departed had his right arm amputated and was around 35 years old, while the other five were below 30.

A source in police claimed that two murderous Moslems were Afghan nationals, while four others belonged to Fata.

France to Take 400 Refugees per Month
[An Nahar] La Belle France will accept 400 refugees per month from Greece as part of the EU relocation deal it signed last year, Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve said Thursday.

"This week, as part of the relocation, 97 additional refugees have arrived in La Belle France coming from Greece and Italia," Cazeneuve said in a statement, adding that another 253 were due to arrive next week.

The relocation forms part of an EU-wide agreement signed last summer to reduce the pressure on frontline states.

A total of 160,000 refugees were due to be shared around the EU's member states, including 30,000 to La Belle France.

But most countries have fallen far short of their obligations under the agreement, with La Belle France taking only 500 people since the deal was signed.

Across the EU, barely 2,000 people have been relocated under the scheme, while more than a million arrived as refugees in Europe last year.

Theranos founder goes from $4.5 billion to zero
A fraudster's due is coming, and just in time for the fall!
Last year, Elizabeth Holmes topped the FORBES list of America’s Richest Self-Made Women with a net worth of $4.5 billion. Today, FORBES is lowering our estimate of her net worth to nothing. Theranos had no comment.

Our estimate of Holmes’ wealth is based entirely on her 50% stake in Theranos, the blood-testing company she founded in 2003 with plans of revolutionizing the diagnostic test market. Theranos shares are not traded on any stock market; private investors purchased stakes in 2014 at a price that implied a $9 billion valuation for the company.

Since then, Theranos has been hit with allegations that its tests are inaccurate and is being investigated by an alphabet soup of federal agencies. That, plus new information indicating Theranos’ annual revenues are less than $100 million, has led FORBES to come up with a new, lower estimate of Theranos’ value.

FORBES spoke to a dozen venture capitalists, analysts and industry experts and concluded that a more realistic value for Theranos is $800 million, rather than $9 billion. That gives the company credit for its intellectual property and the $724 million that it has raised, according to VC Experts, a venture capital research firm. It also represents a generous multiple of the company’s sales, which FORBES learned about from a person familiar with Theranos’ finances.

Retired army man shot dead in Peshawar
PESHAWAR: Unidentified assailants on Wednesday shot dead a retired non-commissioned officer of Pak Army in the limits of Faqirabad police station here.

The slain was identified as Raj Wali, who had retired as subedar from army in November, last year.

ASP Faqirabad Waseem Riaz said the slain left his home to purchase food items for labourers who were constructing his home in Qazi Kilay village.

ASP Riaz said he was returning home when unknown motorcyclists opened fire on him, leaving him injured. He said Raj Wali received three bullet injuries and was rushed to Lady Reading Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

A Faqirabad police station official told Dawn that Counter-Terrorism Department registered an FIR and started investigations.

He said it was incident of targeted killing as the slain had no enmity with anyone, quoting his family.

On May 25, three Frontier Constabulary personnel, including a senior officer, were gunned down by unknown assailants in the same area.

The incidents of targeted killing increased in the provincial capital during the first five months of the current year. City police data shows that number of targeted killings had reached 16, this year, against nine such incidents reported during the same period, last year.

Forces In Helmand On Defensive, Waiting For Orders
Forces in the first line of battle in Helmand province said that troops are on the defensive and are not taking an offensive approach as they are still waiting for such orders.

Security forces said that for the past four days they have been prepared to attack the Taliban and push them back but they are still waiting for their orders.

"We came from Herat province and we want to retake the areas where Taliban have control and fortunately we have taken some areas but we want to move technically due to the demining operation which is slow," said Mohammad Aqbal, an army officer.

Security forces in Nqal Abad and Nad Ali district said that they are waiting for their war orders and if they do not receive their orders villages will fall to the Taliban.

"We stay in a defense state and we are not allowed to be offensive in areas where enemies stay and officials are not allowing us to conduct the operation. It is two nights that we stay here in a defensive state and we will lose the areas too if we do not receive war orders," said Abdullah, an army officer.

Meanwhile Helmand local officials said that in order to prevent civilian casualties the operation is progressing slowly.

"Due to children, elders and women in the villages the operation is slow. Our commandos and other additional forces arrived in the area and we have brought heavy casualties to the enemies." said Omar Haqmal Nad Ali district Police chief.

At the moment security forces are in battles with terrorists in Nad Ali, Greshk, Marja and Lashkargah, the capital of the province.

NPA says capture of police chief part of war on drugs
[Inquirer] In the wake of Philippine president-elect Rodrigo Duterte's orders for a brutal campaign to end the drug menace, communist guerrillas on Thursday said an attack it launched against Governor Generoso town in Davao Oriental province was an anti-drug operation. The Maoist guerrillas took captive the town's police chief during the attack.

New People's Army spokesman Rigoberto F. Sanchez said the raid was conducted after the NPA received repeated reports that the coastal town had become a major entry point for illegal drugs in the region and that the trafficking was being protected by authorities.

Sanchez said, "The NPA targeted the municipal police station based on the people’s popular demand to punish the protectors of rampant drug trafficking in the area."

The guerrillas also seized 11 firearms from the police armory.

Sanchez said the NPA took action because local officials had done nothing to stop drug trafficking in the province.

The NPA statement said Davao Oriental Gov. Cora Malanyaon and Rep. Nelson Dayanghirang are aware of the problem. It said, "Their silence and inaction on this only confirm the masses’ belief in the officials’ unholy alliance with drug syndicates."

Sanchez said the NPA had planned to raid a "shabu" laboratory in Governor Generoso but the military intervened. He said guerrillas who took captive the town police chief, Arnold Olgachen, found shabu in the police chief's possession.

Sanchez said Olgachen was being treated as a "prisoner of war." He said "medical officers of the Red army have assured his (Olgachen’s) good health."

He warned against attempts to rescue Olgachen, saying this would endanger the police officer's life.

Duterte has urged the militants to free Olgachen. On Tuesday, he said, "May I ask them, now, if they are listening, release the chief of police. If he has not done anything wrong, release him immediately."

Duterte said he was willing to pick up Olgachen in rebel territory.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Syria’s Kurds Change Direction of Battle from Raqqa to Manbij
Beirut-The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) amended their plan to control the stronghold of ISIS in Syria’s Raqqa by crossing the eastern bank of the Euphrates River in the direction of Manbij city, one of the main strongholds of the organization in the eastern countryside of Aleppo.

The majority Kurdish SDF launched on Wednesday one of its largest military operations against ISIS, supported by the United States and in coordination with Russia. This operation stretches across 70 kilometers and separates the areas controlled by ISIS in the eastern rural area of Aleppo.

A Kurdish military source close to the operation told Asharq Al-Awsat that this operation is important because it cuts off reinforcements and connection lines between the leaders and members of ISIS in Raqqa from the countryside of north Aleppo, and later, besieges them in small geographic areas stretching along the deep Syrian territories to the border lines with Turkey.

The Kurdish military source added: “This operation separates Raqqa from its last artery,” after the SDF has controlled a large area of reinforcement lines from Iraq to the rural area of Hassaka.

Head of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights Rami Abdelrahman told Asharq Al-Awsat: “This operation is the largest. It is a U.S.-Russian operation in Syria to defeat ISIS.”

Abdelrahman said this new military expansion would start from the west, at the back of the western strip of the Euphrates River, and not from the south, in the direction of Raqqa. He added that this expansion would not get near the borderline with Turkey due to previous sensibilities with Ankara.

“The Kurds will profit enormously by moving to Manbij,” he said.

“There is a big possibility that the battle starts from the side facing Afreen in the direction of the eastern part of the rural area of Mareh, and from the north, in the direction of Tal Jabreen,” Abdelrahman added.

Sources from the SDF in Afreen asserted to Asharq Al-Awsat that “talks started between factions of the Syrian opposition besieged in Mareh and the Syrian Democratic Forces to allow the latter to enter Mareh and join the opposition forces to confront ISIS and expel it from the city.”

Carter, who was en route to a regional security meeting in Singapore, told news hounds the Arab-led force, which the United States was supporting, was moving towards Manbij city.

The Grand Turk
Israel minister says Turkey deal near completion
An Israeli minister close to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said June 2 that nearly all outstanding issues for a reconciliation agreement with Turkey had been finalised by both sides.

"I'd say we've successfully finished dealing with 90 percent of the topics," Energy Minister Yuval Steinitz said in a radio interview. Steinitz's remarks were the latest in a long series of iterations from both sides implying a deal was imminent to end the rift between the former allies.

The relationship between Turkey and Israel was severely strained after the Gaza-bound Mavi Marmara vessel was raided by Israeli commandos in 2010, killing nine Turkish and one Turkish-American citizen on board. Israel apologised to Turkey in 2013, in what many thought would trigger a warming in ties, but tensions soared again the following year when Israel launched a military offensive in Gaza.

After years of bitter accusations and inflammatory rhetoric, the two sides held secret talks in December to seek a rapprochement, with another round taking place in February in Geneva.

Pressed by 103FM radio to say when he thought a deal might be completed, Steinitz said he hoped "in the coming weeks."

"There is a huge interest on both sides -- a strategic interest and an energy-related and economic one," he said.

The minister added that the passing in Israel of a long-debated agreement aimed at enabling the export of some of the country's natural gas to Turkey and Europe would help speed up a deal.

On May 31, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said that they had "made some proposals" on ways to ease the shortage of electricity and water in Gaza.

Turkey has repeatedly insisted on three conditions for normalisation: the lifting of the Gaza blockade, compensation for the aid ship victims and an apology for the incident. Israel has already apologised and negotiations appear to have made progress on compensation for the victims of the raid. The Gaza blockade has been the main hurdle.
Bad idea if the Israelis cave in on that one.
Which is why they haven't closed the deal each time they get this far. Ending the blockade is the only thing President Erdogan wants, other than to utterly humiliate those uppity Jews who flout Allah's will by not surrendering.

ISIS extremists burn 19 Yezidi girls to death in Mosul

[ARA News] DUHOK – Extremist jihadis of the Islamic State (ISIS) on Thursday executed 19 Yezidi girls by burning them to death, activists and eyewitnesses reported.

The victims, who had been taken by ISIS jihadis as sex slaves, were placed in iron cages in central Mosul and burned to death in front of hundreds of people.

“They were punished for refusing to have sex with ISIS militants,” local media activist Abdullah al-Malla told ARA News.

“The 19 girls were burned to death, while hundreds of people were watching. Nobody could do anything to save them from the brutal punishment,” an eyewitness told ARA News in Mosul.

In August 2014, ISIS radicals took over the Yezidi region of Shingle in northern Iraq, causing a mass displacement of nearly 400,000 people to Duhok and Erbil in Iraqi Kurdistan. Tens of thousands of Yezidis remained trapped in Mount Sinjar, suffering mass killings, kidnappings and rape cases, according to local and military sources. Also, more than 3000 Yezidi girls have been taken by the radical group as sex slaves.

On November 13, the Kurdish Peshmerga forces in Iraqi Kurdistan, backed by an air cover from the US-led coalition forces, announced the liberation of the entire Yezidi district of Shingal in the northern Iraqi province of Nineveh after fierce battles with ISIS extremists. The Kurdish forces have recently discovered more than five mass graves in the Yezidi region, where hundreds of Yezidi civilians have been summarily executed and buried by ISIS jihadis. Yet, thousands of Yezidi women remain in ISIS captivity after being sold as sex slaves across the group’s territory in Iraq and Syria.

Human Rights Watch called on ISIS to urgently release Yezidi women and girls abducted since 2014. “The longer they are held by ISIS, the more horrific life becomes for Yezidi women, bought and sold, brutally raped, their children torn from them,” said Skye Wheeler, women’s rights emergencies researcher at Human Rights Watch.

According to officials of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), ISIS fighters in Iraq and Syria continue to hold about 1,800 abducted Yezidi women and girls.

The United Nations has cited allegations, based on Yezidi officials’ estimates, that as many as 3,500 people remained in ISIS captivity as of October 2015.

“Many of the abuses, including torture, sexual slavery, and arbitrary detention, would be war crimes if committed in the context of the armed conflict, or crimes against humanity if they were part of ISIS policy during a systematic or widespread attack on the civilian population,” the HRW said. “The abuses against Yezidi women and girls documented by Human Rights Watch, including the practice of abducting women and girls and forcibly converting them to Islam and/or forcibly marrying them to ISIS members, may be part of a genocide against Yezidis.”

Three Syrians suspected of planning IS attack arrested in Germany
[IsraelTimes] Plots thwarted by fourth suspect, who went to French authorities with details in February

German authorities on Thursday tossed in the clink
... anything you say can and will be used against you, whether you say it or not...
three Syrian men suspected of planning an attack in Dusseldorf for the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group, prosecutors said.

They said the plot was thwarted by a fourth suspect, who went to French authorities with details earlier this year.

The three men were arrested in three different German states, federal prosecutors said in a statement.

The plan called for two suicide kaboomers to blow themselves up in central Dusseldorf and then for further assailants to kill as many people as possible using firearms and explosives, prosecutors said.

However,
some people cause happiness wherever they go; others whenever they go...
they said there were no indications that they had started with concrete preparations.

The three men arrested in Germany were identified as Hamza C., 27; Mahood B., 25; and Abd Arahman A. K., 31. The suspect in jug in La Belle France was identified as Saleh A., 25, also from Syria. Their full names weren’t released in keeping with German privacy rules.

Prosecutors said that Saleh A. and Hamza C. joined IS in Syria in 2014 and got instructions from the group’s leadership to carry out an attack in Dusseldorf.

The two traveled to The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
in May 2014 with IS approval, they added. In March and July 2015, they traveled separately via Greece to Germany.

The pair convinced Mahood B. to join the plot at some point before January this year, prosecutors said.

Also in January, Saleh A. contacted Abd Arahman A. K., who had traveled to Germany in October 2014 with instructions from IS to take part in the attack. According to prosecutors, Abd Arahman A. K. -- who previously made boom jackets and grenades for the krazed killer al-Nusra
...formally Jabhat an-Nusrah li-Ahli sh-Sham (Support Front for the People of the Levant), also known as al-Qaeda in the Levant. They aim to establish a pan-Arab caliphate. Not the same one as the Islamic State, though .. ...
Front group in Syria -- was supposed to make the boom jackets.

The plot was thwarted when Saleh A. went to prosecutors in Gay Paree on February 1 with details of the plan. He has been in jug in La Belle France since. Prosecutors said that they will seek his extradition.

Prosecutors stressed that the arrests are not related to soccer’s European Championship, which kicks off in La Belle France next week.

Germany so far has been spared mass-casualty attacks by Islamic murderous Moslems of the type seen in La Belle France and Belgium over recent months.

KRSC broadcast a video in which the group admitted to belonging to ISIS and executing several terrorist operations.

One of the members of the terrorist cell is Tareq Hamid Mohammed Abdullah al-Zubaidi born in 1992 in Diyala governorate. Al-Zubaidi admitted that he joined ISIS years ago under the direct command of Abu Faleh. He explained that their job required preparing explosives to target United States troops and Iraqi forces. Al-Zubaidi spoke how after Abu Faleh died, they moved to Kirkuk-Tuz and worked under the command of Abu Hasan.

He confessed to helping release two ISIS prisoners Mothaffar Mahmoud Hussein and Ibrahim Hamid Jal’oud. Two months later, Hussein and Jal’oud contacted al-Jabbouri who went to meet them in al-Hawija. Al-Jabbouri pledged allegiance to ISIS. The organization paid him 15,000 dollars to release twenty ISIS members held in Kirkuk prison.

In the last confession, Jasem Mohammed Ziab al-Abidi admitted that he pledged to ISIS in 2015 through his father and other prisoners. Al-Abidi, born in 1994, contacted someone named Abu Mahmoud who enrolled him in military trainings. Al-Abidi stayed in contact with the prisoners. Tabban al-Jabbouri was his father’s lawyer.

Clinton aides promised to protect ‘marked and unmarked’ classified info
[THEHILL] The Republican National Committee (RNC) on Thursday released classified nondisclosure agreements signed by a pair of Hillary Clinton
... sometimes described as For a good time at 3 a.m. call Hillary and at other times as Mrs. Bill, never as Another Timothy Pickering ...
's State Department aides in which they promised to protect classified information.

The release of the documents from Jacob Sullivan and Bryan Pagliano comes hours before Clinton is set to deliver a major national security address attacking presumptive GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump, and appear to be designed to undercut her claims to be the most responsible steward of American power.

"Hillary Clinton endangered our national security and created a culture where top staffers went rogue, silenced career officials and hid a reckless email scheme that placed her political ambitions above all else," RNC Chairman Reince Priebus said in a statement. "These records show that like Clinton, her closest aides did not meet their responsibilities to protect classified information regardless of whether it was marked."

The agreements show that Sullivan -- a top adviser who now works on Clinton’s presidential campaign -- and Pagliano -- the IT aide believed to have set up and maintained Clinton’s controversial private server -- swore to protect "marked or unmarked classified information, including email communications."

Sullivan sent more than 800 emails that now include information marked as classified, according to the State Department. None of those emails were marked as classified at the time they were sent.

California law would allow prosecution of climate-change skeptics
The law is unconstitutional. The writers of the laws know it. Lawyers know it. Prosecutors know it. But by the time it is overturned, the damage will have been done and the fascists who wrote the law in the first place will skate. Laws in a civil society are not intended to be used against fellow citizens for their political views. Now with that steaming pile their opposition, my side, will likely promote a remedy worse than the disease.

May they all burn in hell.

[The Washington Times] A landmark California bill gaining steam would make it illegal to engage in climate-change dissent, clearing the way for lawsuits against fossil-fuel companies, think-tanks and others that have “deceived or misled the public on the risks of climate change.”

The first-of-its-kind legislation — Senate Bill 1161, or the California Climate Science Truth and Accountability Act of 2016 — is scheduled for floor action Thursday after clearing Senate committees in April and May.

The measure would allow state and local prosecutors to pursue claims against climate-change skepticism as a violation of the state’s Unfair Competition Law [UCL], as well as extend the four-year statute of limitations for such claims retroactively to Jan. 1, 2021.

“This bill explicitly authorizes district attorneys and the Attorney General to pursue UCL claims alleging that a business or organization has directly or indirectly engaged in unfair competition with respect to scientific evidence regarding the existence, extent, or current or future impacts of anthropogenic induced climate change,” says the state Senate Rules Committee’s floor analysis.

While the measure enjoys broad support by a bevy of environmental groups, the bill has also been described as an effort to ban free speech on climate change as well as chill donations to free-market groups.

Stephen Frank, editor of the conservative California Political Review, called the bill a “totalitarian statement by Democrats that the First Amendment is now dead.”

#6  Fortunately, the bill died.

A landmark bill allowing for the prosecution of climate change dissent effectively died Thursday after the California Senate failed to take it up before the deadline.

Senate Bill 1161, or the California Climate Science Truth and Accountability Act of 2016, would have authorized prosecutors to sue fossil fuel companies, think tanks and others that have “deceived or misled the public on the risks of climate change.”

I think they wanted the anti-gun bills to pass first before they felt brave enough to pass this one.

The Grand Turk
Turkish intel ‘closely watching’ anti-ISIL operation near its border
Turkish intelligence and military units are closely watching a U.S. and Syrian opposition operation in Manbij, a key spot held by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) near Syria’s border with Turkey, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has said, adding that the move was largely being carried out by Arabs rather than Kurdish forces.
The Kurds have something else planned...
Speaking at a joint news conference with Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta in Nairobi, Erdoğan said around 3,000 men under the Syria Democratic Forces (SDF) were joining the operation and that some 2,500 of them were Arabs, while around 450 were from the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG), the armed wing of the Democratic Union Party (PYD) in Syria.

Turkey claims the PYD is linked to the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) and wants its U.S. ally to cease cooperating with it, but Washington has not signaled that it will end cooperation with the group in the fight against ISIL.

“What we have been told is that the YPG will predominantly act as a logistical force here and the main force will be Arabs,” Erdoğan said.

“We are monitoring what is being done in this process through our own intelligence network and command chain. We will see,” he said when asked about the YPG’s role.

Washington informed Ankara of the Manbij operation, a point beyond the range of Turkish artillery.

Syrian militias vowed on June 2 to drive ISIL from Manbij and surrounding areas and urged civilians there to stay away from militant positions that would be targeted in the campaign.

“We confirm that this campaign will continue until the liberation of the last inch of the land of Manbij and its rural areas,” said a joint statement in the name of the SDF and the allied Manbij Military Council.

The statement was read out on the banks of the Euphrates River by Manbij Military Council commander Adnan Abu Amjad.

“We urge our people in the city of Manbij to stay away from all centers and positions where the Daesh terrorists are present because they will be military targets for our forces. We call on them to take measures to ensure their safety,” he said, using an Arabic acronym for ISIL.

“We also call on our people in Manbij to offer support and help to our forces,” said Abu Amjad. He said the Manbij military council represented all the area’s ethnic groups, which he listed as Arabs, Kurds, Turkmen and Circassians.

The statement said control would be handed to a civilian council after the town was freed.

“Oh brave people of Manbij, our forces are coming to liberate you from the shackles of the Daesh terrorist torturers,” it said.

The council due to manage the city’s civilian affairs was set up in May in the town of Sarrin, said Sheikh Farouk al-Mashi, head of the council. Sarrin was captured by the YPG from ISIL last year.

A plan to airlift supplies to besieged towns in Syria, meanwhile, has been finalized but Russia and others are concerned about the safety of aid workers, and Damascus government approval is needed for the risky operation, a senior U.N. official said on June 2.

“Air drops...remains an option if land deliveries do not go through,” Ramzy E. Ramzy, U.N. deputy special envoy for Syria, told reporters after the U.N. humanitarian task force met a day after the passing of a June 1 target for starting air drops.

“I don’t think it’s imminent but I think the process that will lead to air drops has already started,” Ramzy said. “It is not just the Russians who are concerned about security, it is an issue that has to be resolved in a way that allows this to go ahead.”

Turkey Shells ISIS in Syria: 5 die
The Turkish army killed five ISIS militants in Syria in cross-border shelling, Turkish military sources said on Thursday.

The army targeted positions west of where an offensive on militants was launched by Syrian fighters with U.S. backing.

Thousands of Syrian rebels supported by a small U.S. special operations team launched a major offensive on Tuesday to drive ISIS from the “Manbij pocket” near the Turkish border, which ISIS has used as a logistics hub.

The operation, which began on Tuesday after weeks of quiet preparations, aims to choke off the group’s access to Syrian land along the Turkish border that the militants have long used to move foreign fighters back and forth to Europe.

“It’s significant in that it’s their last remaining funnel” to Europe, a U.S. military official told Reuters.

A small number of U.S. special operations forces will support the push on the ground to recapture the territory, acting as advisers and staying back from the front lines, the officials said, speaking on condition of anonymity to discuss military planning.

“They’ll be as close as they need to be for the (Syrian fighters) to complete the operation. But they will not engage in direct combat,” the official said.

Washington informed Ankara of the Manbij operation, but it was beyond the range of Turkish artillery and Turkey would not back a campaign in which Syrian Kurdish fighters played a role, another Turkish military source said on Wednesday.

Turkish border guards fired artillery at two ISIS positions near the Syrian town of Azaz on Wednesday, the Turkish military sources said, west of the U.S.-backed operation and directly south of the Turkish border town of Kilis, which has been repeatedly hit by ISIS rockets.

Turkey objects to the United States’ backing of the Kurdish YPG militia against ISIS in Syria because it considers the group to have deep ties to the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) militant group waging an insurgency in the Turkish southeast.

Prime Minister Binali Yildirim on Wednesday said weapons given to the YPG militia in Syria were making their way to PKK militants in Turkey.

“The side elements of the terrorist organization (PKK) in Syria and Iraq are procuring these in the name of the struggle against terrorism and transfer them to the terrorist organizations in Turkey. This is unacceptable,” he said.

Turkey is trying to stamp out the PKK insurgency after it re-ignited last July when a two-year ceasefire collapsed. The United States and Turkey both list the PKK as a terrorist group.

Turkish jets struck PKK camps in northern Iraq early on Thursday and destroyed seven rebel targets the Metina area, the military sources also said.

The PKK is mainly based in mountainous northern Iraq, and Turkey regularly enters Iraqi airspace to strike their camps and weapon stores, despite objections from Baghdad and the semi-autonomous Kurdistan Regional Government.

After slew of cyber-strikes, BDS movement points finger at Israel
The targeters targetted.
[IsraelTimes] Report says attacks had ’sophistication and commitment,’ notes that unidentified Israeli rights group was also

The international movement calling for a boycott against Israel said Thursday its website was repeatedly attacked earlier this year, and raised suspicions that Israel was behind the attacks.
Maybe it was Anonymous, or some script kiddies got their IP wrong...Not every bad thing that happens is the fault of the Joooooos, donchaknow.
The BDS (boycott, divestment and sanctions) movement released a report Thursday showing that its main website suffered six attacks in February and March. The denial of service attacks, which work by flooding a target website with bogus traffic, knocked out the BDS website for several hours at a time.
Simply dreadful.
The report, compiled by nonprofit online security service eQualit.ie, said the attacks had a level of "sophistication and commitment" it normally does not see. It also noted that an unidentified Israeli human rights

In a statement, the BDS movement said the "advanced technology used in the attacks and the size of the botnets involved may show that Israel was directly involved" but it offered no hard evidence.

Israeli cyber-security expert Gilad Yoshi said such attacks do not cause serious damage, adding it was unlikely a government was behind them.

"These are not high-level attacks," said Yoshi, an expert at the electronic defense training company CyberGym.

BDS calls for boycotts, sanctions and divestment from Israel in what it calls a nonviolent struggle against occupation. Israel says BDS’s goal is to destroy the country, and it has identified the movement as a serious threat.

Jerusalem has earmarked funds for Israeli tech companies for digital initiatives aimed at gathering intelligence on activist groups and countering their efforts.

Initiatives are largely being kept covert. Participants at one recent invite-only forum, held on the sidelines of a cyber technology conference, repeatedly stood up to remind people that journalists were in the room.

Israel’s Ministry of Strategic Affairs, which is spearheading the government’s battle against BDS, was reviewing Thursday’s report and had no immediate comment.
"Hahahahahaha ... No, of course that's not a comment, we haven't read the report yet."

Um... DOS attacks aren't that advanced and there is technology to avoid most of them now.

Sounds more like "THE JEWS DID IT!! THEY CONTROL THE WORLD!!!" type hysteria to me.

#3  I'd say the fact that the website isn't a smoking crater and the BDS Founders aren't in prison for true or fabricated charges is a sign that Israel is not involved.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Photo of Hezbollah's rising star uncovered
[Ynet] Talal Hamia, head of Unit 910, Hezbollah's foreign operations unit, was published for first time; he is expected to be promoted as a result of the killing of Mustafa Badr al-Din.

The first ever photo of Talal Hamia, the head of Hezbollah’s foreign operations unit - Unit 910- and whose name is linked with the attack on the Jewish community building in Buenos Aires in 1994, was published online Thursday.
And there he is, all unhealthy eyes and sullen expression.
Hamia was recently mentioned as someone who is likely to be promoted to a more central role following the death of the senior Hezbollah leader Mustafa Badr al-Din in Damascus .

It was Ronen Solomon, the intelligence analyst for Intelli Times which closely monitors Hezbollah, who came upon the picture.

Hamia, who comes from Baalbek in Leb’s Bekaa Valley, is considered one of the veteran commanders of Hezbollah’s military wing. According to reports in recent years, based on intelligence sources, he in effect replaced Badr al-Din after the International Court included the latter on the indictment regarding the murder of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri.

Similar to Badr al-Din, Hamia is also a mysterious figure. His name has been linked to the planning of terrorist attacks perpetrated by Hezbollah abroad. In 2012, the US Treasury Department placed sanctions on him.

In a recent publication of Asharq Al-Awsat, an Arabic language newspaper published in London, reported the person to replace Badr al-Din - who served as a senior figure in Hezbollah’s military wing and the commander of the terrorist organization in Syria - is Mustafa Mughniyeh, Imad Mughniyeh’s eldest son, who was killed Damascus in 2008. But the credibility of the report is in doubt as the newspaper, owned by Soddy Arabia

USAF Thunderbirds Jet Crashes Outside Colorado Springs, pilot ejects
[CBS Denver] EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) ‐ A pilot of a U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds jet wasn't injured after ejecting before the F-16 crashed outside of Colorado Springs Thursday afternoon.

The crash site is located at Fontaine Boulevard near Rolling View Drive in the Security-Widefield area.

The jet had just performed a flyover during the graduation ceremony at the Air Force Academy where President Barack Obama spoke. It's not clear of the president witnessed the flyover but he was still at the graduation site at the time of the crash taking photos with attendees.

Arabia
Yemeni forces drive back al-Qaeda attack on Mukalla
Yemen foiled a massive terrorist attack by al Qaeda militants that planned to target local administrative headquarters in the city of Mukalla the UAE state news agency WAM said on Thursday.

Security forces found a car laden with 15 high-explosive bombs that an al Qaeda suspect was planning to blow up in that region.

“We received intelligence about al Qaeda’s plans to launch a major terrorist attack in Mukalla aimed at destabilising the city and creating panic amongst its residents,” the news agency quoted General Faraj Salmin, commander of Yemen’s Second Military Zone in the eastern province of Hadramout, as saying.

“With the help of intelligence efforts that were ably assisted by a special team from the Coalition forces, we learnt on Monday that the plan was to target the local administrative headquarters in Al Mukalla city in order to liquidate the staff, destroy the infrastructure and paralyze the local government authorities. Following an extensive search, the car, loaded with a huge quantity of explosives, was found,” Gen. Salmin added.

Regarding the purpose behind the attack, he said that it was targeting a prominent symbol of the Yemeni state to convince people of the city with the idea that the recent expulsion of AQAP from Mukalla would be followed by chaos and instability.

“They also wanted to threaten the people with reprisals for cooperating with the Yemeni and Coalition forces,” he explained.

Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) largely withdrew from Mukalla in April when government and Emirati soldiers seized the city that had been used by jihadist to amass a fortune amid the chaos of civil war.

Special teams from the UAE Armed Forces are providing operational assistance to Yemeni forces to rid the city of remaining AQAP members.

An al Qaeda IT expert, known as Abu Hafs Al Shahri, was arrested during one of the search operations in the city, WAM said.

Mukalla has been the center of a rich mini-state along the Arabian Sea coastline that AQAP built up over the past year as it exploited conflict between government loyalists backed by a Gulf Arab coalition, which the UAE is part of, and Houthi insurgents allied with Iran.

AQAP, which has planned several foiled bombing attempts on Western-bound airlines and claimed responsibility for the 2015 attack at the Charlie Hebdo magazine’s offices in Paris, sought to carve out a quasi-state last year offering to export 2 million barrels of oil with the approval of Yemen’s government, which refused.

Suicide Bomber Kills Two in Syria Regime Stronghold
[An Nahar] A suicide kaboom near a mosque killed at least two people and maimed another four in the regime stronghold of Latakia in northwestern Syria on Thursday, state media said.

"A terrorist attack hit near the Khulafa al-Rashideen mosque in the Daatur district of Latakia as people emerged from afternoon prayers," state television
... and if you can't believe state television who can you believe?
said.

Official news agency SANA quoted a senior police source as saying two people were killed and four maimed when the attacker went kaboom! while riding his cycle of violence in the coastal city.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a Britannia-based monitor that relies on a wide network of sources on the ground for its information, said three people had been killed in the attack.

Last month bombings claimed by the Islamic State

group in the nearby seaside cities of Jableh and Tartus killed at least 170 people.

IS is not known to have a significant presence in Syria's coastal provinces, where its jihadist rival, the al-Qaeda-affiliated al-Nusra

But IS, notorious for using deadly sleeper cells to attack its enemies, suggested the creation of a "Wilayat al-Sahel" or Islamic province for the coastal area.

Navy: Pilot of Blue Angel jet died in crash in Smyrna, TN
WASHINGTON (AP) -- A Blue Angels F/A-18 fighter jet crashed Thursday near Nashville, Tennessee, where the team is scheduled to perform at an air show this weekend, the Navy said.

There are no details yet on whether the pilot was injured in the crash. The Blue Angels were practicing for the show.

This is the second fighter jet crash of the day for the military’s elite fighter jet performance teams. A member of the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds crashed in Colorado following a flyover for the Air Force Academy graduation where President Barack Obama spoke. That pilot ejected safely into a field.

People near the crash site told The Tennessean newspaper that they heard a huge explosion and saw a massive plume of smoke when the plane went down. Jennifer Elliott, who had been watching the jets practice before going inside her house, said everything shook.

"It sounded like car crashed into my house," she said.

Rebecca Durand told the newspaper she thought the jet was performing a stunt when she saw its nose come straight down.

"Instead, I just saw this big orange explosion," she said.

Southeast Asia
Two Abu Sayyaf militants nabbed in Zamboanga
[Manila Times] Police have captured two Abu Sayyaf militants after a motorcycle chase that ended in a red light district before dawn on Thursday.

Regional police spokesman Rogelio Alabata said Alhnur Usup and Jamal Labuan were cornered in Zamboanga City. He said the two are followers of Abu Sayyaf leader Indang Susukan in Sulu province.

Usup is wanted in connection with numerous murder cases. However, officials did not confirm if Usup and Labuan - both from villages in Zamboanga – were planning to kidnap or launch terrorist attacks in the city.

Alabata said policemen were to serve arrest warrants against the pair, but they managed to escape on a motorcycle, forcing lawmen to chase them. They were cornered in Zamboanga City's red light district.

The arrest came as Philippine security forces were augmented in the region as the Abu Sayyaf resumed its attacks after the military seized Susukan's camp in a remote village in Maimbung town, Sulu recently. Susukan is a brother of Sulu-based Abu Sayyaf leader Mujiv Susukan, linked to the beheading of Malaysian hostage Bernard Then in November 2015 after his family failed to pay the ransom.

Earlier, a Philippine soldier was killed and his companion was injured during an attack in the town of Patikul, Sulu. The militants also lobbed a grenade at a military truck transporting troops in Jolo town and wounded seven rangers who just arrived by boat in Jolo from Zamboanga City and were heading to their camp when the attack occurred near the port.
