Secret Service officer's book details Clintons' 'crisis of character'
[Fox] A forthcoming book from a former Secret Service officer assigned to the White House during Bill Clinton’s presidency alleges that presumptive 2016 Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton "lacks the integrity and temperament to serve in the office."

The book, "Crisis of Character," is due to be released June 28 ‐ a month before Hillary Clinton is likely to take the stage to accept the Democratic presidential nomination in Philadelphia. Written by ex-Secret Service Officer Gary J. Byrne, who was "posted directly outside President Clinton’s Oval Office," the 285-page book describes Hillary Clinton’s "appalling leadership style" as being "volcanic, impulsive, enabled by sycophants, and disdainful of the rules set for everyone else."

While most of the book’s contents have remained under wraps so far, the Amazon.com preview features large sections from the introduction, first two chapters and afterward. It also shows the title page, featuring a Chapter 11 titled "Wild Bill."

In the introduction, Byrne said he "personally observed" President Clinton’s infidelities and was complicit in covering them up.

"I even secretly disposed of sordid physical evidence that might later have been used to convict the president," Byrne wrote.

Byrne recalled an alleged fight between the first couple during the summer of 1995 in Chapter 1, "The Vase." Byrne said a vase was smashed during the loud argument and the next morning President Clinton sported "a shiner, a real, put-a-steak-on-it black eye." Clinton’s personal scheduler Nancy Hernreich allegedly told Byrne the eye condition was a result of Clinton’s allergy to coffee.

The book is not solely about the Clintons, however.

Iraq
Iraqi forces say they have secured southern edge of Falluja
[Guardian] Iraqi forces say they have secured the southern edge of Falluja, two weeks after the launch of an operation to recapture the city from Isis.

Lieutenant General Abdel Wahab al-Saadi said his forces secured the largely agricultural southern neighbourhood of Naymiya, under cover of US-led coalition airstrikes, and are poised to enter the main city.

The declaration came after the commander of an Iraqi paramilitary organisation dominated by Tehran-backed units said on Sunday it was willing to send forces into Falluja if efforts to retake the city were too slow.

Abu Mahdi al-Mohandis, military commander of the Hashed al-Shaabi militias, said its forces had surrounded Falluja and left breaching operations to counterterrorism forces, but that could change if the fighting dragged on.

Hillary Clinton Won't Say if Right to Bear Arms Is Constitutional Right
Hillary Clinton couldn't definitively say Sunday that the Second Amendment of the Constitution guaranteed the right to bear arms during an interview with ABC's George Stephanopoulos.

Republican rival Donald Trump has charged that Clinton wants to abolish the amendment. While Stephanopoulos said he knew that wasn't true, he pressed her on her gun views that have increasingly gone to the left.

"Do you believe that an individual's right to bear arms is a constitutional right, that it's not linked to service in a militia?" he asked.

"I think that for most of our history, there was a nuanced reading of the Second Amendment until the decision by the late Justice Scalia, and there was no argument until then that localities and states and the federal government had a right, as we do with every amendment, to impose reasonable regulations," she said. "So I believe we can have common-sense gun safety measures consistent with the Second Amendment."
Short answer: no. She'll elaborate after she wins...
Clinton then went into her gun control platform, but Stephanopoulos hit her for dodging his question, noting the D.C. vs. Heller decision that protected an individual's right to have a firearm for lawful purposes.

"And the Heller decision also does say there can be some restrictions, but that's not what I asked," he said. "I said, do you believe that their conclusion that an individual's right to bear arms is a constitutional right?"

"If it is a constitutional right, then it, like every other constitutional right, is subject to reasonable regulations, and what people have done with that decision is to take it as far as they possibly can and reject what has been our history from the very beginning of the republic, where some of the earliest laws that were passed were about firearms," Clinton said.
Still #NeverTrump?
All those early laws, Hillary, and not one of them denied the rights of ordinary citizens to own firearms.

But let's say Hillary were to succeed: she becomes President. She nominates a rabid, anti-gun Supreme Court justice. The Senate provides consent. A case makes its way to the Court, and now the new Court, by 5-4 vote, reverses Heller, McDonald, etc., and takes away the right of common citizens to own ordinary firearms.

What happens next, oh liberals?

I'll tell you what happens next: 34 states pass a call for a constitutional convention with the purpose to restore the meaning of the 2nd Amendment, that's what happens. Pubs control the governorships and legislatures of 31 states today, so it's not unlikely that this would happen. Once that convention (not guided by the Congress, and not controlled by the progressives) passes the 29th Amendment which says, "The Second Amendment shall always be construed as to protect the right of citizens to own, possess and operate ordinary firearms, and the ammunition required for such", it will go back to the states.

Oh liberals: do you really think you can stop 38 states from ratifying that amendment? And if you try and come anywhere close to doing so, what do you think the country does NEXT?

#1  There are two things Hillary ignores.
1. The Bill of Rights is a covenant with the citizens of the United States that the rights outlined are inalienable and if the Bill of Rights is tampered with the federal government loses its right to exist.
2. The Second Amendment has two clauses. The first is a prefatory clause to explain the reason for the operative clause. The second clause which is the operative clause states ", the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."The proper reading of the meaning of the 2nd Amendment is the operative clause only. Further everytime the SCOTUS has ruled on the phrase "the right of the people"it has stated that this conveys and individual right.

#2  There is no single greater threat to the fundamental nature of both the Constitution and the safety of our nation that this parsed, lawyer response. Like al things Cintonian, she lies with apparent truth through the use of precise grammar and appeals to emotional loading. It cannot be more apparent that she would appoint a Justice that would find reasons to overturn Heller, and begin the tyrannical process of gun control through "reasonable" assertions about ammo stamping, "smart technology", and other canards that always curtail ownership, ccw and eventually some form of collection. More importantly, it her assertion that anything in the constitution is subject to "reasonable" control, since the way forward is always paved with more restrictions, never less. She is a con artist, a liar, a criminal and a grifter, but the most damning thing, is she will be an imperious tyrant.......

#4  The frightening thing actually isn't the patently obvious Clintonian evil. Evil has always existed. The Clintons are simply an Arkansonian offshoot. The problem is the denial and labeling of evil as 'GOOD' or acceptable by the apparently vast numbers of those who would support her.

I wonder what impact there would be on her support base if some sort of religious experience befell her and she became 'Pro-Life?'

#6  She will be charged if she does not get the nomination or if she gets the nomination and loses big on November. Then she will be charged, plead guilty and immediately pardoned by zero.

If she wins in November she will govern ad a woman scorned and will go after everyone who demanded she be prosecuted durong 4 years of rule.

Europe
Bulgarian Civilian Vigilante Groups Hunting Migrants
[Breitbart] Civilians in Bulgaria have taken to hunting down migrants and handing them to police on so-called "healthy walks."

A group of men in Bulgaria roam the countryside helping plant trees, participating in torch light parades on national holidays and tracking down illegal migrants to turn into the Bulgarian authorities. The group call themselves the "organization for the protection of Bulgarian citizens," and were founded by Hristo Atanasov, a cook and self described patriot, Die Welt reports.

Atanasov leads the group who go out on weekends donning military fatigues to go on what they call "healthy walks" through the nearby beaches and mountains close to his home in the coastal town of Burgas. Atanasov claims that the group likes to go to the area because of the natural beauty but also because it is a major hotspot for migrants who have come across the border from neighbouring Turkey.

The self styled patriot describes the process saying that the group often spots the people smugglers first, "they run 200 to 300 metres ahead to see if the coast is clear," he said. If the migrants see him and his men they often run away, "they think we are the police," Atanasov remarked.
I'll bet the military style "walking gear" has something to do with that...
The patrol leader said that he is usually joined by around 30 more men at any given weekend. The group has so far managed to capture more than 50 migrants crossing the Bulgarian-Greek border and they bring them all directly to Bulgarian police.

The group believes they are the first line of defence from what they call the "migrant invasion," and regard themselves as merely doing their duty to their country as self appointed border protectors. Their work is reminiscent of protests by the hipster-right Identitarians who built their own fences along the Austrian-Slovenian border when the government refused to control the migrant flow last year.

Economy
Champ Credits Self for Economic Recovery ‐ '€˜Smart Decisions Early On'
[Breitbart] In his weekly address released Saturday morning, President Barack Obama credited himself for the economic recovery throughout the country and specifically pointed to Elkhart, IN, where he gave a speech about the economy earlier in the week as an example.

Transcript as follows:

Elkhart, IN was the first town I visited as President. I’d been on the job for three weeks, and we were just a few months into the worst economic crisis of our lifetimes. Elkhart was hit harder than most. Unemployment there peaked at nearly twenty percent shortly after my visit. Nearly one in five people there were out of work.

This week, I returned to Elkhart. Unemployment there has now fallen to around four percent. More families are back on sturdy ground; more are covered by health insurance; more of their kids are graduating from high school. And it’s no accident ‐ it’s because people there worked hard, and sacrificed, and looked out for each other.

But it’s also because we made a series of smart decisions early in my presidency. To rescue the auto industry. To help families refinance their homes. To invest in things like high-tech manufacturing, clean energy, and the infrastructure that creates good new jobs ‐ not to mention the job training that helps folks earn new skills to fill those jobs.

The results are clear. America’s businesses have created 14.5 million new jobs over 75 straight months. We’ve seen the first sustained manufacturing growth since the nineties. We’ve cut unemployment by more than half. Another 20 million Americans have health insurance. And we’ve cut our deficits by nearly 75 percent.

Another 20 million Americans have health insurance.

TRANSLATION: "...Not that many of 'em are gonna be able to afford keep it once I leave office. And besides, the ACA wasn't for a few tens of millions of Americans; I could care less about those rubes. This was for a few thousand un-elected elites and four hundred-something idiots in Washington."

And we’ve cut our deficits by nearly 75
percent.

Venezuela Criminal Arsenals Widen to Include Grenades

Venezuela has seen the highest number of deaths and injuries from grenades in Latin America over the past three years, with corruption in the military making soldiers both a cause and target of this trend.

The year 2015 was a record year for Venezuela in many aspects. In terms of citizen security, the country witnessed the highest homicide rates since its independence. The Venezuelan Violence Observatory (Observatorio Venezolano de la Violencia - OVV) recorded 27,875 victims, pushing the homicide rate to 90 murders for every 100,000 inhabitants and giving the country the second highest rate in the world after El Salvador for countries not at war.

Within this total there were at least 47 deaths attributed to the detonation of grenades. The United Nations Regional Center for Peace, Disarmament and Development (UNLIREC) reported that hand grenade deaths increased by 194 percent during 2015 compared to the two previous years. Comparative figures are not available for the region, but Venezuela very likely maintains its position as the South American nation with the most grenade deaths, given that it held that distinction in 2014 with only 13 cases reported.

Slovakian Prime Minister: 'Islam Has No Place In Slovakia'
[Daily Caller] In his first interview since being re-elected prime minister of Slovakia, Robert Fico claimed that Islam "has no place in" in the country.

"It may look strange but sorry," he said in a Thursday wire statement. "Islam has no place in Slovakia."

"I talked about it several times with the Maltese prime minister and he said the problem was not in migrants coming in, but rather in them changing the face of the country."
Exactly. That's what Chancellor Merkel thinks she can prevent...
Fico even addressed those who don’t view "the events in Germany" as justification for his anti-immigration stance.

"Maybe if we had not taken the stance on the migration crisis which we took, everything would be different and the percentages would be divided in a completely different way."

The Islamic Foundation in Slovakia argued Fico’s comments "not only harm Slovak Muslims but also the country’s interests as a sovereign country which is building its position on the international scene."

"We ask with what have we deserved to become the target of hatred not just on the internet and in public space, but also from those who should protect us based on their essential role and function," they told the Spectator.
Perhaps if you embraced Slovakia, learned the language, integrated yourselves, swore allegiance to the flag, etc., you wouldn't have a problem.

Former Bush AG: Trump Is Right to Question Fairness of Judge
[PJ] Former George W. Bush administration attorney general Alberto Gonzales penned an op-ed in the Washington Post today, giving Donald Trump some cover in his rampage against a Mexican American judge presiding over the lawsuit against Trump University.

It is crucial to understand the real issue in this matter. I am not judging whether Curiel is actually biased against Trump. Only he knows the answer to that question. I am not saying that I would be concerned about him presiding over a case in which I was a litigant. And if I were a litigant who was concerned about the judge’s impartiality, I certainly would not deal with it in a public manner as Trump has, because it demeans the integrity of the judicial office and thus potentially undermines the independence of the judiciary, especially coming from a man who could be president by this time next year. But none of these issues is the test. The test is whether there is an "appearance of impropriety" under the facts as they reasonably appear to a litigant in Trump’s position.

Certainly, Curiel’s Mexican heritage alone would not be enough to raise a question of bias (for all we know, the judge supports Trump’s pledge to better secure our borders and enforce the rule of law). As someone whose own ancestors came to the United States from Mexico, I know ethnicity alone cannot pose a conflict of interest.

But there may be other factors to consider in determining whether Trump’s concerns about getting an impartial trial are reasonable. Curiel is, reportedly, a member of a group called La Raza Lawyers of San Diego. Trump’s aides, meanwhile, have indicated that they believe Curiel is a member of the National Council of La Raza, a vocal advocacy organization that has vigorously condemned Trump and his views on immigration. The two groups are unaffiliated, and Curiel is not a member of NCLR. But Trump may be concerned that the lawyers’ association or its members represent or support the other advocacy organization. Coupled with that question is the fact that in 2014, when he certified the class-action lawsuit against Trump, Curiel appointed the Robbins Geller law firm to represent plaintiffs. Robbins Geller has paid $675,000 in speaking fees since 2009 to Trump’s likely opponent, Hillary Clinton, and to her husband, former president Bill Clinton. Curiel appointed the firm in the case before Trump entered the presidential race, but again, it might not be unreasonable for a defendant in Trump’s position to wonder who Curiel favors in the presidential election.

Gonzales makes the case Trump should be making. It's not a question of Curiel's Hispanic heritage. It's the web of his connections that gives the appearance of bias in favor of Hillary Clinton and against Republicans.
The emphasis in para three is of my own making.

He spent his post boxing days helping others, at least until his Parkinson's took his mobility and voice away. As far as I know he didn't harm anyone outside the boxing ring.

He's a man and thus is fallible. I'm a Christian and try to be forgiving. I'll let Mr. Ali's transgressions slide and admire him for what he accomplished.

'€˜White Men' Are The Problem, Says Leading Anti-Brexit Politician
[Daily Caller] A leading politician and campaigner to keep Britain in the European Union (EU) told a rally "white men" are a problem and fellow campaigners should focus on women and young people.
People like him then fail to understand why white men won't vote for them...
The UK will vote on whether it wants to remain or leave the EU for the first time in 40 years June 23. The Labour Party’s shadow Europe Minister Pat Glass embarrassed the "Remain" campaign Wednesday instructing pro-EU supporters to ignore older, white, male voters who are more likely to vote for Brexit.

(RELATED: What is Brexit? Everything You Need To Know About Britain’s EU Referendum)

"Speak to your mother, your grandmother. Don’t speak to your grandfather, we know the problem are older white men," Glass told an audience in Wolverhampton.

A Labour spokesman brushed off the comments as a joke. "It was a light-hearted comment and it was received in that way by the audience," a spokesman told The Express & Star. "Labour are clearly fighting for every single vote and are of course encouraging everyone to vote to remain on 23 June."
They think they can do that and still insult white men...

America Faces Same Global Threats of Roman Empire
[Breitbart - From Original at AEI] Just over a quarter of a century ago, the liberal West celebrated triumph in the Cold War. Its victory was underpinned by an evolving strategy of containment, détente, proxy battles and rollback that defeated the Communist bloc without unleashing nuclear war. After unimaginable bloodshed during the 20th century, the fall of the Berlin Wall signaled a triumphal note for the beginning of the next one. Today, less than a generation after the "end of history", such hopes are all but forgotten, as the global order cracks under a combination of strains either long ignored or willfully dismissed.

The eight years of the Obama administration have seen only worsening risk and intensification of conflict around the globe. The pace of aggression continues to increase. Yet unlike the still familiar period of great power struggle against totalitarian ideologies during the 20th century, today’s threat to the liberal world comes from two different fronts: the seemingly permanent scourge of Islamist terrorism, and the rise of revanchist and revisionist major powers, such as Russia and China. The United States and its liberal partners have been challenged and found wanting, failing to eliminate or contain the threats. The next US president must do better, or run the risk that the next generation will be one of permanent global disorder.

Superpowers have faced great trials before. But in this particularly complex environment, America and its next leader will have to accept the uncomfortable fact that they face a challenge not unlike that which plagued the Roman Empire for centuries.

Hopefully the outcomes will differ.

Workers at 2 Minnesota Hospitals Diagnosed with Active TB, 141 Patients '€˜May Have Been Exposed'
BLUF: [Breitbart] Twenty-six percent of the foreign born cases of active TB reported in Minnesota in 2015 were from patients born in Somalia.

"Cannot disclose due to patient privacy laws," Allina Health’s Kanihan tells Breitbart News, when asked whether either or both of the two Allina Health workers diagnosed with active TB were American born or foreign born.

When reminded that the Minnesota Department of Health annually reports the breakdown between foreign born and American born active TB cases, Kanihan held firm.

"They may disclose some kind of aggregate breakdown, but that’s different from disclosing information about two specific people. Sorry, can’t help you with that one," he tells Breitbart News.
He's correct. HIPAA laws prevent exactly this. He's following the law.
The Minnesota Department of Health did not respond when Breitbart News posed the same question to them.
The question appears to have been answered.

Sorry but 'Free Traders' are like the Marxist. All wrapped up theory and ignoring consequences.

You can pay heavily in taxes to support a largely low skill population with a very expense and expansive bureaucracy or you can pay more for your products by protecting the labor in your country with a comparatively modest tariff bureaucracy. No loyalty to those you ask to give up their children to die to keep you in power while impoverishing them is not sustainable in the long run. Better to keep them working than to degenerate them to dependents. Cause some day when the crap hits the fan, they have no interests to keep the system going.

Lebanese and Iranian Missiles Discovered in Yemen
Jeddah: High-ranking Yemeni military officials announced that the National Army discovered a large number of Lebanese and Iranian made missiles in Haif bin Saba’an.

After examining the missiles, Commander Staff Maj. Gen. Nasser al-Tahiri revealed that these missiles are not like the European or U.S. missiles, but share some specs.

Maj. Gen. al-Tahiri stressed that the National Army has been defending the liberated areas since Houthis started breaking the declared ceasefire.

Al-Tahiri also said that the discovered missiles are fired from launchpads and are used by the Lebanese so-called Hezbollah party.

Al-Tahiri told Asharq Al-Awsat that the army is advancing on several key axes despite militias’ reinforcements.

He explained that these missiles won’t help the militias advance for many reasons, including the weakness of their militants and their low morale.

Concerning the situation in the battlefield, al-Tahiri said that it is in the favor of the National Army, which is advancing on al-Farda and Bayhan fronts.

He added that all military forces are in their positions blocking any attack.

Military sources revealed that the militias lost a large number of their members in Shabwa as they failed to break the siege imposed by the National Army on Houthis.

Observers expect the Houthis to raise the oil prices as activist Abdul Hamid al-Khotami said.

Al-Khotami added that the lack of oil derivatives in the capital is due to the fact that the Houthis haven’t paid the price of the oil shipment coming to al-Mekla refinery.

The police had produced the six accused in the court of special judge of Anti-Terrorism Court Hazara Masood Ahmed after their 28-day police remand expired on Friday. Five suspected criminals killed in two ‘encounters’
[DAWN] KARACHI: The police counterterrorism department on Friday claimed to have killed three suspects belonged to an Afghans’ gang allegedly involved in killings, robberies and gang-rape cases in an ’encounter’, while in another ’encounter’ two gangsters were also killed.

Acting on a tip-off provided by an intelligence agency, the police conducted a targeted raid in Mehran Town in Korangi, where an encounter ensued in which three suspects were killed.

The suspects were identified as Mohammed Umer, Alam Khan and Lazrus, alias Ranjha, alias Nazar while the fourth one identified as Shamoon, alias Suraj, escaped in maimed condition.

"These suspects belonged to a gang led by Afghans living illegally here," said additional inspector general of the CTD Dr Sanaullah Abbasi.

"The gang comprises 11 members who are mercenaries and rapists of teenage girls."

A 30-bore pistol seized from their possession was sent to the police forensic laboratory, which revealed that this weapon had been used in four murders in Korangi over the past one year.

Besides, this gang had allegedly shot at and maimed Anti Car Lifting Cell Inspector Mumtaz in Korangi. Furthermore, they were involved in house robberies.

"During the house robberies, they were involved in 12 gang-rape cases," said the CTD AIG.

They committed at least 27 house robberies and looted around Rs20 million.

This gang was also involved in over 200 street crime cases in which they had snatched mobile phones, cash, cycle of violences and jewellery from women.

Another police officer of the CTD SSP Junaid Ahmed Sheikh said that during a house robbery, they allegedly gang-raped a nine-year-old girl and threw her into the water tank where she died.

He said they had targeted ACLC inspector Mumtaz Shah on April 20 and threw him outside his home in Korangi in maimed condition assuming that he had died from the bullet wounds, but he survived and his condition was improving. He was targeted because he had helped the law enforcers arrest that gang’s members, the police officer added.

SSP Sheikh said that ’some coppers’ of Korangi had also worked as ’controllers’ of the gang and added that action would be taken against them.

He said they had also traced the jeweller who used to buy looted gold from the gang and hinted that action would also be taken against him.

The officer claimed that these gang members also worked as hitmen for banned outfits.

[An Nahar] The U.S. Navy's top admiral says the aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman has begun launching Arclight airstrikes against the Islamic State

group from the Mediterranean Sea.

That opens a new direction of attack against the holy warriors in Iraq and Syria.

Adm. John Richardson said in an News Agency that Dare Not be Named interview Saturday that this unusual arrangement is a demonstration of the flexibility of naval power. The Navy for years positioned its carriers in the Persian Gulf to conduct Arclight airstrikes against targets in the Middle East.

The Truman had been in the Gulf but in recent days moved into the eastern Mediterranean and resumed air operations. The Truman eventually will return to its home port at Norfolk, Virginia, and be replaced in the Gulf by the aircraft carrier USS Dwight D. Eisenhower.

Pakistan denies consular access to Indian spy citing his 'subversive activities'
[DAWN] Pakistain has turned down India's request seeking consular access to detained Indian spy Kulbushan Jadhav, who was placed in durance vile
... anything you say can and will be used against you, whether you say it or not...
by Pak forces earlier this year, it has been learnt.

"After due consideration, it has been decided not to grant consular access to Jadhav," a top security source told DawnNews.

The source said the decision was taken due to the arrested Indian Navy officer's involvement in "subversive activities" in Pakistain.

The security forces had arrested Jadhav from Balochistan
...the Pak province bordering Kandahar and Uruzgun provinces in Afghanistan and Sistan Baluchistan in Iran. Its native Baloch propulation is being displaced by Pashtuns and Punjabis and they aren't happy about it...
in March and announced that he was 'a serving officer in the Indian Navy and deputed to the Indian intelligence agency Research and Analysis Wing (RAW).'

Iraq Forces Gain Ground from IS West of Fallujah

group Saturday in a key area west of the jihadist bastion of Fallujah,
... the City of Mosques, which might have somthing to do with why it's not called Center of Prosperity or a really nice place to raise your kids...
security sources said.

Fighters from the army, the police and from the Hashed al-Shaabi -- a paramilitary organization dominated by Tehran-backed Shiite militias -- entered the center of Saqlawiya.

The town lies around 10 kilometers (six miles) northwest of Fallujah and control of the rural area around it is key to cutting off the city which Iraqi forces are trying to retake.

"The Iraqi army's 14th division and Hashed al-Shaabi stormed the center of Saqlawiya town from the highway and raised the Iraqi flag," a statement from the Joint Operations Command said.

Federal police moving from a different direction were also involved in the operation to retake Saqlawiya.

As elite forces are trying to push into the center of Fallujah, other forces have continued to clear areas around the city to ensure it is completely isolated.

The operation in Saqlawiya is aimed at cutting off Fallujah from Jazirat al-Khaldiyah, an area to the west which IS has been passing through to reach its positions elsewhere.

The Joint Operations Command said a US-led coalition air strike had hit a boatload of IS fighters attempting to flee Fallujah along the Euphrates river, killing all on board.

Five Indian security officers shot dead by 'rebels' in India-held Kashmir
[DAWN] Five Indian security personnel have been rubbed out by suspected rebels in restive India-held Kashmire in the past two days, police said on Saturday.

Two coppers were on a routine patrol on Saturday when rebels fired automatic weapons from a moving vehicle in southern Anantnag town, killing them on the spot.

"The attackers fled the area after the firing," Javid Gillani, inspector general of police, told AFP.

On Friday, three paramilitary soldiers from India's Border Security Force were killed when bandidos snuffies fired bullets from automatic assault rifles at their moving convoy.

Friday's attack was claimed by Hizbul Mujahideen, one of the region's several rebel groups who have been fighting Indian forces for decades, seeking independence or a merger with Pakistain.

Man from Ahmadi community shot dead in Attock

fighters on Niger's border with Nigeria, Niger's defence ministry said on Saturday, one of deadliest tolls inflicted by the Lion of Islams.

In neighbouring Nigeria, the army meanwhile said it had killed 19 Boko Haram Lions of Islam in separate fighting in northeast Borno state, while two soldiers suffered gunshot wounds.

In the Niger fighting, "hundreds of assailants" attacked a military post in the Niger town of Bosso on Friday evening, the defence ministry said in a statement that gave a "provisional toll" of 30 Nigerien and two Nigerian soldiers killed and 67 maimed.

"On the enemy's side, several dead and injured were taken away," the ministry said.

"Boko Haram elements effectively took control of the town temporarily, but now they were dislodged," a security source said.

Local resident and former MP Elhaj Aboubacar said: "They drove up at twilight, shouting Allahu Akbar (God is Great), they fired a lot of shots and torched many places in Bosso."

"We don't know where our military went, but one thing is for sure, Boko Haram were able to do what they liked until dawn," Aboubacar said.

"The situation is under control and calm has returned," the defence ministry said, adding that a "mopping up" operation was underway by land and air.

Three Minnesota men face life for conspiracy to commit murder abroad in ISIS case
[DailyMail] Three Minnesota men have been found guilty of plotting to travel to Syria to join the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
A federal jury in Minneapolis convicted 21-year-old Guled Ali Omar, 22-year-old Abdirahman Yasin Daud and 22-year-old Mohammed Abdihamid Farah of conspiracy to commit murder overseas on Friday, the most serious charge they faced. They now face possible life sentence in prison.

The three are among 10 young men accused in the conspiracy. Six have pleaded guilty to one count each of conspiracy to support a foreign terrorist organization. A seventh, 22-year-old Abdi Nur, is on the lam, and believed to be in Syria.

Prosecutors built their case largely on recordings made by a friend of the men who became a paid informant. Testimony at trial showed he was paid roughly $119,000.

But defense attorneys argued that comments on the records were youthful bluster.

Prosecutors also argued that the trio had made 'exceptionally persistent efforts over a 14-month period' to join ISIS, reported Sky. They said that the trio knew they would be killing people once they arrived in Syria.

The young men were detained last April in San Diego, after they went with an FBI informant to buy fake passports.

Family and friends have protested what they call entrapment, and said most of the defendants were in their teens when they were caught up in the Islamic State's social media recruitment campaign.

Defense attorneys said that Farah's desire to leave the country was motivated by humanitarian aims.

Farah was one of four co-defendants stopped by FBI agents in New York as they were tried to board planes en route to The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
, according to the Star Tribune. Audio recordings also caught him defending an ISIS video that captured a Jordanian pilot being burned alive, as well as saying he would kill an FBI agent,

Daud was born in a refugee camp in Kenya and arrived in Minnesota aged 9. Last April, he was tossed in the calaboose
Drop the gat, Rocky, or you're a dead 'un!
with Farah driving to Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party,, allegedly in an effort to obtain fake passports to travel to Mexico.

Omar is one of 13 siblings who, as a teen, led religious studies groups that included discussions about the Syrian civil war, according to the Tribune.

In 2007 his older brother left Minnesota to fight for Somali bad boy group al-Shabaab
... the Islamic version of the old Somali warlord...
. While Omar himself had made two unsuccessful attempts to leave the U.S.

More than a dozen people have left Minnesota to join jihadist groups in Syria in recent years, said the FBI.

The Minnesota case was the third ISIS-related case to trial nationwide, according to CBS. It is unique because of the sheer number of people personally connected to each other, rather than being recruited online.

Islamist party condemns Tunisia ban on congress
[Al Ahram] An Islamist party in Tunisia condemned an official ban on its scheduled annual congress on Saturday and accused the authorities of seeking a confrontation.

Hizbut Tahrir
...an al-Qaeda recruiting organization banned in most countries. It calls for the reestablishment of the Caliphate...
, which was granted legal status in 2012, a year after Tunisia's revolution, was to hold the congress under the slogan of a "Caliphate to save the world" but it was banned by the interior ministry "for security reasons".

"They want to drag us into conflict with the security forces," party official Mohammed Yessine Smida told AFP.

"But our battle is purely political and we have no problem with the security forces," said Smida, whose party wants to establish a caliphate through non-violent means.

Interior Minister Hedi Majdoub, whose country was last year the target of jihadist attacks in Tunis and a beach resort that killed 60 people, said his ministry had the right to deny authorisation for "any event that could disturb public order".

Tunis governor Fakher Gafsi told Shems FM radio he feared "the state could have been targeted" by a congress of Hizbut Tahrir on the eve of the Moslem holy month of Ramadan.

"I think it's no coincidence that a congress of this kind was organised for two days before Ramadan... which for murderous Moslems is a time for slitting throats and killing," he said.

More heavy clashes with militants in Benghazi as Hafter and Thinni government try to neutralise GNA supporters
Hafter and Thinni? Is that a government or an accounting firm?
[Libya Herald] The sound of heavy kabooms in Ganfudah and Sabri districts could be heard across Benghazi this morning as fighting continued with turbans still operating on the areas.

So far on Saturday, there have been no air strikes, unlike yesterday, Friday, when LNA MiGs bombed targets in Gwarsha and the Nowruz Beach Resort, beyond Garyounis, both still occupied by Death Eaters,

Meanwhile,
...back at the Hubba Hubba Club, Nunzio wondered: Where the hell was Chumbaloni? And where was his $600?...
in a move that has triggered fears of fresh divisions on Benghazi, the interior minister in the Beida-based government, Mohammed Al-Madani Al-Fakhri, has issued an order suppressing the Specialised Anti-Terrorist Force in the city and ordering its members to return to their former occupations.

The order is seen as a bid to eliminate support in the city for Mahdi Barghathi, the minister of defence in the Government of National Accord in Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
. The anti-terrorist unit is led by Faraj Ikgaim, who backs Barghathi and also close to Ibrahim Jadhran, but not to Hafter.

In a separate move that is likely to have little immediate consequence in the city, a group of Benghazi revolutionaries who were part of the Benghazi Revolutionaries Shoura Council but who had fled to Tripoli have formed a new militia based in the capital called Defend Benghazi.

There have been attempts, mainly by the former leader of the February 17 Brigade, Fawzi Bukhatif, to create a new nationalist but also Islamist military grouping in Benghazi which would have nothing to do with Ansar al-Sharia
...a Salafist militia which claims it is not part of al-Qaeda, even though it works about the same and for the same ends. There are groups of the same name in Libyaand Yemen, with the Libyan versions currently most active. Tunisia's Shabaab al-Tawhid started out an Ansar al-Sharia and changed its name in early 2014. It still uses the old name now and then, probably because the stationery's not all used up and the web site hasn't expired yet...

Misratans take Gardabiya airbase from IS
Misratan-led Bunyan Marsous forces have driven IS terrorists out of the key Gardabiya airbase in a final battle which today cost the lives of four soldiers with 14 others injured.

Earlier in the day IS had boasted that it had thrown back an attack killing nine Misratans and injuring 15 others. In event, it appears that the terrorists retreated fromthe airbase and its adjacent civilian airport and headed northwards toward Sirte, which is 15 kilometres away .

IS also indicated in social media posts that they had established a defensive at Harawa, around 70 kilometres east of Sirte. It also claimed to have released prisoners in Sirte, but the identity of those freed was unclear, as was why they should have been let go.

Morale among the predominantly Misratan fighters is said to be high, though their progress is still being hampered by a significant number of mines and booby traps left behind by the terrorists. There were no devastating truck bombs (SVBIED) attacks today, leading to speculation that IS may be conserving the vehicles and explosives it still has available.

Today the Bunyan Marsous operations room spokesman Mohammed Al-Ghasri denied persistent reports that foreign troops are fighting on the front line. One journalist reported last week being told by a Misratan soldier that he had seen British special forces on the ground. Another claim was that an SVBIED had been destroyed by British fire before it could reach its target.

Ghasri said only Libyans were fighting IS. He said that some 700 terrorists had been killed since the start of Bunyan Marsous but warned that IS still had considerable strength in Sirte itself. He added that therefore it was important that the UN arms embargo be lifted to allow weapons and ammunition to be brought to the frontline.

However those arms and ammunition may not be arriving any time soon. The UN Security Council last month agreed to lift the arms embargo for the Presidency Council but a UN spokesman said that Government of National Accord prime minister-designate Faiez Serraj had yet to submit a detailed request for arms.

“The Libyan Government of National Accord will need to provide reassurance when making requests to the UN sanctions committee that there is no risk of arms exports being diverted to terrorist groups,” said an unnamed diplomat, quoted by News 24.

The diplomat continued: “It will take time for the GNA to put in place the necessary measures, such as secure storage facilities. The request may therefore still take some time to issue.”

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Dozens die in Syrian air force attacks on Aleppo
ALEPPO: Regime airstrikes killed dozens of civilians in the Syrian city of Aleppo and nearby areas Friday as the UN Security Council prepared to discuss emergency aid drops to besieged areas.

The raids were the most intense in more than a month, with dozens of barrel bombs — crude, unguided explosive devices — dropped on several rebel-held eastern districts of the city, an AFP correspondent said.

Ten people were killed when a bus they were traveling in was hit on the Castello road, a key rebel supply route out of Aleppo, the civil defense said.

At least 28 other civilians were killed in regime strikes on several neighborhoods in the rebel-held east of the city, said the civil defense, known as the White Helmets.

“There are people under the rubble and we’re still looking for the missing,” a civil defense volunteer who gave his name as Khaled said.

AFP footage showed a building in the city’s east whose front had been blown off and bulldozers were clearing rubble from the roads.
A man wearing medical gloves stood in a room surrounded by white body bags, one with blood seeping through.

Official news agency SANA said rebel rocket fire killed two children in the regime-controlled west of the city.

The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the Castello road was now “effectively cut.”

“All movement is targeted, be that buses or bystanders,” its head Rami Abdel Rahman said.

ISIS left Fallujah 60 days ago, claims Anbar tribal leader
[RUDAW.NET] Local officials in the Fallujah region claimed that ISIS left the city 60 days ago and those fighting the Iraqi security forces are residents of the city who have no ties to ISIS but are terrified of the Shiite militia groups who have been caught on video torturing refugees who fled the city.

"It has been 60 days since ISIS has withdrawn from Fallujah,

and the residents fear what [Shiite militia] Hashd al-Shaabi snuffies might do to them," Raad Sleman, a Sheikh from the tribes of Anbar, told Rudaw.

"We have informed the Iraqi government. Those who are fighting inside Fallujah are the residents," Sleman claimed.

He added that they have proof that the Shiite militias are mistreating the families of Fallujah, a predominantly Sunni city.

Video footage showing members of the Shiite militia known as Hashd al-Shaabi torturing refugees from Fallujah has gone viral on social media and angered many people of Iraq, especially Sunnis.

Sleman blames Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi for the torture the refugees are suffering, saying that Abadi is a weak person and not suitable for the post of prime minister.

Shiite militia leaders deny the accusations of mistreatment. Kareem Noori, a spokesperson for the militia group, told Rudaw, "Hashd al-Shaabi snuffies are treating the residents very well, and there have been no violations."

"Fallujah residents have no links to ISIS," Noori added.

The governor of Anbar agrees. Sofean Essawi, media advisor for tribal matters of Anbar province, told Rudaw that Anbar governor Suhaib Rawi has followed the situation of the refugees closely, and said that no violations have been committed by Shiite militias against Fallujah families.

An estimated 50,000 civilians are still trapped in Fallujah, including at least 20,000 children. The Iraqi government had urged those who could to leave and those that could not to fly white flags to show the incoming forces that they posed no threat.

The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) estimates that a mere 3,000 people have managed to escape Fallujah since the Iraqi operation began.

State Department: Iran is top state sponsor of terrorism
[IsraelTimes] Annual terror activity report says Tehran continues to support terror groups worldwide, sow instability; lists Islamic State as ’greatest threat globally’
Yes, we all knew it, but now it's official. What will Mr. Trump do with this information?
The US State Department released its annual report on global terrorist activity on Thursday, listing Iran as the top state sponsor of terrorism and labeling the Islamic State as "the greatest threat globally" and a "formidable force" in Iraq and Syria.

"Iran remained the foremost state sponsor of terrorism in 2015, providing a range of support, including financial, training and equipment, to groups around the world," the State Department report read.

US asks Russia to not hit Nusra Front in Syria, Moscow says
True or not, it's the kind of mud that sticks.
[Ynet] Washington has asked Moscow not to target the al-Qaida's branch in Syria, the Nusra Front, for fear of hitting the moderate opposition, Russia's foreign minister said Friday.

Sergey Lavrov said that Russia long has insisted that the moderate, US-backed opposition groups should leave the areas occupied by Nusra.

He said in televised remarks that Russia and the US have engaged in close dialogue on how to secure a cease-fire in Syria, but added that fighting the Islamic State group and Nusra should be a top priority.

"They are telling us not to hit it (Nusra), because there is 'normal' opposition next .. to it," Lavrov said. "But that opposition must leave terrorists' positions, we long have agreed on that."

Iran ready for war with U.S., yewbetcha...
Iran is ready to engage in direct battle with the US, said the country's armed forces spokesman Masud Jazayeri.

"We are ready to rid humanity of the war-seeking and domination-loving policies of the US in a real and direct battle," he said in reaction to recent statements by a US presidential candidate, Press TV Persian reported June 4.

On Thursday Hillary Clinton
...who will never be compared to George Schultz, let alone John Foster Dulles...
said that notwithstanding the nuclear deal, the US would take action at any time to prevent Iran from gaining access to nuclear weapons, adding that the military option was still on the table.

Jazayeri dismissed the remarks as mere campaign propaganda in the first place.

"Our nation and armed forces are never after war, but will not overlook the need for preparedness for a moment," he maintained.

17 kidnapped passengers released in northern Sar-e-Pul province
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] At least 17 passengers kidnapped by the Taliban holy warriors have been released in northern Sar-e-Pul province of Afghanistan with the mediation of local tribal elders.

Provincial governor’s front man Zabiullah Amani confirmed that the passengers were released late on Thursday night by the Taliban Death Eaters.

At least 24 passengers were initially kidnapped by the Taliban holy warriors on Wednesday in Da Murda area but 8 of them were later released which included women and kiddies.

The Taliban holy warriors kept 17 of them as hostages until they were rescued by the local tribal elders.

The passengers in Sar-e-Pul were kidnapped days after the Taliban holy warriors kidnapped at least 185 passengers from an highway in northern Kunduz province.

The majority of the passengers were released after they were interrogated by the Taliban holy warriors and at least 17 of them were killed on charges of working for the Afghan security institutions.

The Taliban group grabbed credit behind the kidnapping in Kunduz and said they took the members of security forces in their custody.

Syrian government forces reach outskirts of Raqqa
RAQQA – Forces loyal to the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad have reached the border of Raqqa province in northeastern Syria, in preparation to fight the Islamic State (ISIS) in the group’s de facto capital, military sources reported don Saturday.

Supported by a Russian air cover, the Syrian army and allied militias have reached the southeastern border of Raqqa province.

This comes amid continuous fighting between the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and ISIS militants in the northern countryside of Raqqa, where the Kurdish-led SDF has recaptured dozens of villages and farms over the past few days.

On the other hand, the Syrian regime troops try to take part in the battle for Raqqa with the support of Russia.

“Our forces have reached the administrative borders of Raqqa province after killing a number of Daesh terrorists,” a Syrian army officer told ARA News, using another acronym for ISIS.

“This is a Syrian land, and the Syrian army is the only legitimate force to regain control of those areas from all terrorist groups, including those supported by the West,” he said, in reference to the SDF as a US-backed Syrian force.

Noteworthy, the Syrian regime troops had no presence in Raqqa province since summer 2014, when ISIS took over the air base of Tabqa and executed a number of army soldiers.

Commenting on the Syrian army advance, SDF official Habun Osman told ARA News: “The Assad regime withdrew their forces from Raqqa in August 2014 and left it to ISIS. Now they try to return to the province after witnessing the SDF progress against ISIS in northern Raqqa.”

“We, as Kurds, Arabs, Christians and other components of northern Syria, have been fighting those terrorists for years, while pro-Assad troops handed over all those areas to ISIS and headed to other places to defend the regime,” Osman said.

“We are here defending the people, while they’re playing political games. This is our fight, once Raqqa is liberated it will be run by its own people not by a regime that has killed thousands of innocent civilians,” the SDF official told ARA News.

'We want food!', Venezuelans cry at protest near presidency
Venezuelan security forces fired teargas at protesters chanting "We want food!" near Caracas' presidential palace on Thursday, the latest street violence in the crisis-hit OPEC nation. Hundreds of angry Venezuelans heading toward Miraflores palace in downtown Caracas were met by National Guard troops and police who blocked a major road.

President Nicolas Maduro, under intense pressure over a worsening economic crisis in the South American nation of 30 million, had been scheduled to address a rally of indigenous groups nearby around the same time.

The protest spilled out of long lines at shops in the area, witnesses said, after some people tried to hijack a food truck.

"I've been here since eight in the morning. There's no more food in the shops and supermarkets," one woman told pro-opposition broadcaster Vivoplay. "We're hungry and tired."

The government accused opposition politicians of inciting the chaos but said security forces had the situation under control.

Despite their country having the world's biggest oil reserves, Venezuelans are suffering severe shortages of consumer goods ranging from milk to flour, soaring prices and a shrinking economy. Maduro blames the fall in global oil prices and an "economic war" by his foes, whom he also accuses of seeking a coup.

"Every day, they bring out violent groups seeking violence in the streets," he said in a speech at the indigenous rally, which went ahead near Miraflores later in the day. "And every day, the people reject them and expel them."

Critics say Venezuela's economic chaos is the consequence of failed socialist policies for the last 17 years, especially price and currency controls. The opposition wants a referendum this year to recall Maduro. Protests over shortages, power cuts and crime occur daily, and looting and lynchings are on the rise.

Several local journalists said they were robbed during Thursday's chaos in downtown Caracas.

The government's top economic official, Miguel Perez, acknowledged the hardships Venezuelans were undergoing but promised the situation would improve.

"We know this month has been really critical. It's been the month with the lowest supply of products. That's why families are anxious," he told local radio. "We guarantee things will improve in the next few weeks."

Clinton says Trump's rhetoric 'hateful, very prejudicial'
[Al Ahram] Calling immigration a key issue in the presidential race, Hillary Clinton
... sometimes described as For a good time at 3 a.m. call Hillary and at other times as Mrs. Bill, never as Another Daniel Webster ...
is attacking Donald Trump for talking in "hateful, very prejudicial, really unacceptable ways."

At a campaign event focused on immigration, Clinton continued her criticism of the likely Republican nominee, saying that when he "talks about deporting 11 million immigrants colonists, he's talking about ripping apart families."

Clinton kicked off a long day of Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, campaigning at Los Angeles Mission College in Sylmar, where she addressed a largely Asian and Latino crowd.

Clinton listened to the personal experiences of several immigrants colonists and stressed her commitment to immigration reform.

Clinton has upped her attacks on Trump in recent days, starting with a speech slamming his foreign policy Thursday. She is hoping to officially lock up the Democratic nomination in the coming days.

Syria’s Kurds eye merger of their enclaves
[RUDAW.NET] The People’s Protection Units (YPG) have not abandoned their previous plan to integrate the three Kurdish-controlled cantons of Jazire, Afrin and Kobani in northern Syria despite their military collaboration with Arab factions in other areas, a spokesperson for the group told Rudaw.

Under the active US air protection, the YPG fighters have fought alongside the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) for the past months and pushed back the ISIS Death Eaters from areas surrounding the jihadist bastion of Raqqa in the north of the country.

As they fight on, the YPG and other forces are getting closer to the gates of Hasaka in the northeast and Aleppo in the northwest of the war-torn country. This will famously facilitate the integration of the separated cantons of Afrin and Kobani with Jazira in the east and give Kurds the territorial illusory sovereignty that they need to declare a cohesive polity in Syria’s Kurdistan.

But before that, Kurdish authorities have said, the YPG forces need to secure the town of Manbij, some 50 kilometers south of Kobani, currently under ISIS control and which has proved to be difficult since Ankara started shelling the advancing Kurdish troops in the area.

"Many people think that the unification of the three cantons is an illusion," said Nasir Mansour, a YPG front man and an advisor to the SDF military command.

"Sometimes military and political tactics dictate different conditions, but that does not mean that the grand strategy will be abandoned. We are committed to unify the three cantons," Mansour said.

The capture of Gire Sipi (Tell Abiad) located between the cantons of Jazira and Kobani last year pushed the unification of the enclave a step further after intensive festivities and Ankara’s open opposition to the YPG’s control of the border gate.

Manbij, located between Kobani and Afrin cantons, seems to have similar significance as Gire Sipi to the further unification of Kurdish enclave that currently stretches from northeastern Syria to the westernmost corner of the country.

"Manbij and the other areas around the Euphrates River have strategic importance for both the SDF and the Kurdish forces," said Idris Naaman, former spokesperson of Kobani canton.

"Both try to take this area, but The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
’s loud opposition and even some regional interference has indefinitely postponed the liberation of Manbij," Naaman told Rudaw.

Iraqi Shia militia says it will storm Fallujah when families leave

(IS) group's stronghold near Baghdad, once civilians left the city, backtracking on earlier statements that it would leave this task to the Iraqi army.

"We will not enter Fallujah as long as there are families inside," said Hadi al-Amiri, leader of the Badr Organization, the largest component of the Shia paramilitary coalition known as Hashid Shaabi, or Popular Mobilization.

"Of course, we will go in and rid the city from the evil of this cancerous gland, with nobody preventing us," he said, when asked what would happen if civilians managed to flee the Sunni city that lies 50 km (32 miles) west of Baghdad.

Fallujah is the first Iraqi city that IS group captured, in January 2014, and the second largest still under its control after djinn-infested Mosul

in the north. Sunni politicians have voiced concern that the presence of Shia militias alongside the army in the battle to retake the city could lead to sectarian violence.

Amiri was speaking to news hounds while touring one of the frontlines near Fallujah. Last week he said the militias would take part in encirclement operations but leave the army to storm the city.

Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi said on June 1 the offensive to dislodge the ultra-hardline Sunni forces of Evil had slowed down in order to protect civilians. About 50,000 are trapped in the city, with limited access to water, food and healthcare, according to the United Nations

Turkey, US-led coalition target ISIL in Syria to thwart attack
A joint operation between Turkey and the U.S.-led coalition against the Islamic State pf Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) killed 14 terrorists in Syria on June 4, the Turkish military has said. Artillery and air strikes targeted ISIL positions after the Turkis military detected signs of imminent attacks on Turkey, the Turkish Armed Forces said in a statement.

Among the ISIL targets destroyed were an armored vehicle, a rocket launcher and three buildings, Anadolu Agency reported.

Since mid-January, ISIL militants have been targeting Turkish towns and cities on the Syrian border, especially Kilis, with indiscriminate rocket fire. ISIL’s rocket attacks have claimed the lives of 21 people in Kilis, including eight Syrians, since then.

Meanwhile, Syria's regime killed dozens of civilians with air strikes in and around Aleppo city on June 3, even as it agreed to allow access for ground convoys to deliver aid to 12 besieged areas, Agence France-Presse reported. The raids on Aleppo were the most intense in more than a month, with dozens of barrel bombs -- crude, unguided explosive devices -- dropped on rebel-held eastern districts of the city, an AFP correspondent said.

Fourteen people were killed when a bus they were travelling in was hit on the Castello road, a key rebel supply route out of Aleppo, the civil defense said. At least 43 other civilians were killed in regime strikes on neighborhoods in the city's rebel-held east, said the civil defense, known as the White Helmets.

"There are people under the rubble and we're still looking for the missing," said a volunteer who gave his name as Khaled.

Official news agency SANA said rebel rocket fire killed two children in the regime-controlled west of the city.

Serraj predicts defeat of IS, says all are welcome in Libyan army
[Libya Herald] The Libyan army is now pulling itself into an effective fighting force that can defeat the so-called Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
, Presidency Council head Faiez Serraj has said. Misratan-led units were cooperating with members of the Petroleum Facilities Guard from Ajdabiya, he has pointed out, and are moving towards Sirte from either side.

"We are sure that the battle and the eradication of Islamic State will be carried out by Libyans," he told Rooters in his second major interview in less than a week. "I think that what was achieved from Ajdabiya to Sirte and from Misrata to Sirte was a good achievement, given the capabilities that the fighters have."

Furthermore, he added, no one would be excluded from being part of the Libyan army, so long as they accepted the authority of the central government ‐ meaning his government of National Accord.

Serraj also divulged that, so far, his administration had taken no decisions about who would head the Central Bank of Libya, the National Oil Corporation or the Libyan Investment Authority. Instead the aim at present was, as with the army, to unite the rival parallel institutions in Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
and Beida in order to restart oil production and rebuild the economy.

It was up to the Libyans, too, to deal with the migrant crisis, he said, but the problem also needed to be addressed in the migrants colonists’ home countries.

The emphasis on security, national reconciliation and the economy was much the same as in a far longer interview with the Saudi daily Okaz published on Monday, although in it he added another top priority: getting displaced Libyans home.

In the interview, Serraj also rejected suggestions that the Presidency Council was a tool of the Americans, disclosed that he did not fear being assassinated, and that despite the problems that he was optimistic about the future of Libya.

In relations to those problems, he said that he had tried to reach out to House of Representatives’ president Ageela Saleh but that although the two had spoken on the phone when both were in Cairo, Saleh had refused to meet him. As to their relationship, he had no personal issues with Saleh, he said, but he had to hold a session of the HoR to approve the GNA.

There were problems with Khalifa Hafter as well, he admitted. He had made it clear in his talks with the general in January that the military leadership had to be under the Presidency Council. Subsequent attempts at direct communication with Hafter and his advisers had not worked, he intimated.

France suspends 5 military for Central African violence
[Al Ahram] The French Defense Ministry has suspended five members of the country's forces in Central African Republic for violence against two of the citizens they were sent to protect.

Among the five are soldiers higher up in the military hierarchy "who assisted and failed to react to the violence," the ministry said on Saturday.

A statement said that four others who were aware of the acts but failed to report them were handed disciplinary sanctions.

The vague statement said neither when nor where the violent acts took place and didn't elaborate on them. No one was immediately available for comment.

The French mission to its former colony, sent in after sectarian violence erupted in late 2013, has been tarnished by allegations of sexual violence against children that are currently being investigated.

Libya unity govt backed by 2 armed groups in the east
[Al Ahram] Two major gangs in eastern Libya announced their support Saturday for the UN-backed national unity government as it struggles to establish its authority in the east of the country.

The Government of National Accord (GNA), established in Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
more than two months ago, has been trying to unify violence-ridden Libya and exert its control over the entire North African country.

However,
nothing needs reforming like other people's bad habits...
it faces opposition from a competing authority based in the east which has its own armed forces -- militias and some units of the national army -- commanded by controversial General Khalifa Haftar
... served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969. He became a prisoner of war in Chad in 1987. While held prisoner, he and his fellow officers formed a group hoping to overthrow Qadaffy. He was released around 1990 in a deal with the United States government and spent nearly two decades in the United States, gaining US citizenship. In 1993, while living in the United States, he was convicted in absentia of crimes against the Jamahiriya and sentenced to death. Haftar held a senior position in the anti-Qadaffy forces in the 2011 Libyan Civil War. In 2014 he was commander of the Libyan Army when the General National Congress (GNC) refused to give up power in accordance with its term of office. Haftar launched a campaign against the GNC and its Islamic fundamentalist allies. His campaign allowed elections to take place to replace the GNC, but then developed into a civil war. Guess you can't win them all...
Two major groups formerly loyal to Haftar, the special anti-terrorist force and a military intelligence brigade -- decided to throw their lot in with the GNA.

On Saturday, the commanders of the two units held a joint presser with GNA defence minister-designate Al-Mahdi al-Bargathi to announce their decision.

On the ground, meanwhile, forces loyal to the GNA said they had retaken an air base near the coastal city of Sirte, bastion of the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(IS) jihadist group.

The pro-government forces announced on Facebook they had "retaken control of Al-Gordabiya air base", 15 kilometres (nine miles) south of Sirte, the hometown of the late dictator Moamer Qadaffy.

It said the GNA forces were able to take the complex with the backing of "five air raids against jihadists and their equipment".

GNA forces also announced the "liberation from the hands of ISIS" (an Arabic acronym for IS) of the town of Abu Hadi, 15 kilometres southeast of Sirte.

The unity government's forces and those of the rival authority in the east are currently engaged in a race to be the first to drive IS out of Sirte.

The international community believes this could jeopardise efforts to defeat IS, whose threat has grown since they established a foothold in Libya at the end of 2014.

On Tuesday, the UN's special envoy on Libya, Martin Kobler, had called on all the country's armed factions to unite against the jihadist group.

He said the rival administrations that have established themselves since the fall of Qadaffy in 2011 should "unite their efforts" into a single army.

Led by premier-designate Fayez al-Sarraj Fayez and internationally recognised, the GNA has already received the support of former authorities who controlled the capital and armed militias in the west.

The Libyan Central Bank and the State Oil Company have also rallied to his authority.

But the unity administration has yet to receive a vote of confidence in parliament, which remains linked to the former internationally recognised government also based in the east.

U.N. Seeks Assurances from Libya over Arms Purchases
[An Nahar] The UN Security Council is seeking assurances from Libya's unity government that new weapons will not fall into the wrong hands before it can authorize the purchases, diplomats said Friday.

Britannia, Egypt, Italia, the United States and Russia were among 25 countries that agreed at a meeting last month to help the government of Prime Minister Fayez al-Sarraj arm itself to confront the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. group.

The countries agreed to support a request to a UN sanctions committee for an exemption to the arms embargo on Libya to allow Sarraj's government to make the purchases.

The UN-backed government however has yet to present its request to the committee, a senior Security Council diplomat said.

AU peacekeepers to seek Gulf aid in Somalia
The head of the African Union’s peacekeeping mission in Somalia said Friday his operations against al-Shabaab militants have been hit by European Union funding cuts. Speaking in the Kenyan capital, Francisco Caetano Jose Madeira said the AU is now seeking aid from Gulf countries.
Good luck with that...
Madeira — who was addressing a news conference — told reporters that Kenya, Uganda and Ethiopia had also agreed to contribute helicopters to African Union forces to aid it in fighting Somali-based al-Shabaab militants.

Officials had “undertaken a trip to the Gulf countries to sensitize those countries on the need to support the African Union Mission in Somalia [AMISOM],” Madeira said.

Madeira’s remarks comes as Turkey’s president is in Somalia where he today opened a new embassy and said his country plans to open a military training center in the capital, Mogadishu. Recep Tayyip Erdogan was speaking after an earlier meeting with Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta where the Turkish leader said Ankara would help in stabilizing Somalia.
I think the Turks are going to be busy, but if Erdogan could contribute some military units there to work with the AU -- helicopters and ground support for those, as one example -- it could swing things way in favor of the AU units.

AMISOM Ready to Secure Somalia’s Electoral Process
The African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) is gearing up to provide security to ensure a peaceful vote during the upcoming electoral process in Somalia, its head Ambassador Francisco Madeira has announced.

AMISOM has already begun working with the Somali Government and its security forces to establish a technical security committee to oversee security arrangements for the August ballot, the Ambassador said.

“The commitment taken by Somali politicians and leaders is that the 2016 elections be viewed as another transition towards a full-fledged electoral process of one-person-one-vote by 2020. We are happy that they have all agreed on how to go about this,” observed Ambassador Madeira.
In a couple years the 2020 elections will be described as a transition to something else...
The Special Representative of the Chairperson of the Commission (SRCC) made the remarks at a media luncheon held in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, during which he updated journalists on the progress made by AMISOM forces and the Federal Government of Somalia towards stabilising the country.

Somalia is expected to hold elections before the end of the year, after political representatives struck a deal on the electoral model to be used to designate a new president and members of parliament.

11 die in rocket artillery attacks in Taiz
SANAA: Yemeni medical officials say 11 civilians — including 10 women and one girl — were killed and dozens were wounded when rockets hit a busy market in the western city of Taiz.

The officials say that the rockets were fired on Friday by Shiite rebels, known as Houthis, who are besieging the city. They say at least 30 people were wounded and that the death toll is expected to rise.

The market in the old city of Taiz is under the control of local resistance forces loyal to the internationally recognized government, who are backed by a Saudi-led coalition. The city has been hard hit by fighting since coming under siege by the Houthis.

The US military, meanwhile, said it conducted four counterterrorism strikes against Al-Qaeda militants in Yemen in recent months, including one May 19 that killed four enemy combatants.

US Central Command says the strikes killed a total of 15 members of Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula.

Syrian rebel forces cut ISIS MSR near Manbij
TISHREEN – The SDF-led Military Council of Manbij on Saturday captured the road between the city of Manbij and Raqqa, cutting off one of the most strategic supply routes for the Islamic State (ISIS) in Syria.

The Manbij Military Council also took control of the key Um al-Saraj hill on the western bank of the Euprates river, and 10 kilometers from the Tishreen Dam following fierce clashes with ISIS militants.

“The Manbij Military Council captured the hill between Abu Qalqal and Manbij, and cut off the road between them. ISIS extremists tried to protect this key area by attacking our forces three times, but our forces foiled the attacks,” Munzir Eris, a Kurdish fighter of the Syrian Democratic Forces, told ARA News.

“More than 100 ISIS fighters were killed either by coalition airstrikes or by our fighters on the ground,” he added.

The fighter said the SDF-forces are happy with the US-led coalition support. “In the past, they just helped us when we were about to loose, but now they provide us with good support,” he saidEris told ARA News.

The fighter could not confirm how many Kurds or Arabs are involved in the Manbij operation. “We have Arabs, Kurds, nobody knows how many exactly, we all work under the SDF-forces,” he added.

Speaking to ARA News, Mohammed Abu Adil, a FSA-commander and member of the Manbij Military Council, said: “Eventually ISIS will be defeated.”

“Whether strong or not, we will defeat them from everywhere in the world. God willingly, we will return our territories and cities,” he said.

Nevertheless, he said he could not predict when Manbij would be captured from ISIS. “We won’t stop until we eventually liberate it.”

Israel to ease West Bank, Gaza movement during Ramadan
[IsraelTimes] Measures include permits for Gazooks to pray at Al-Aqsa Mosque, travel between Paleostinian territories for family visits

Israel announced Friday it was relaxing restrictions on the movement of Paleostinians to and from the West Bank and Gazoo Strip during the Moslem holy month of Ramadan.

The measures, similar to those of previous years, were announced by COGAT, the unit which manages civilian affairs in the West Bank under the auspices of newly appointed hardline Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman.

Up to 500 people from the Gazoo Strip will be allowed to attend Friday prayers at the Al-Aqsa Mosque on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem over the holy month, set to begin on Monday.

In addition, 200 Gazoo residents will be allowed to visit relatives in the West Bank during Ramadan, and 500 Paleostinians from the West Bank will be authorized to visit family in Gazoo, COGAT said.

Israel will also allow 300 Paleostinians living abroad to visit relatives in Gazoo, and 500 West Bank Paleostinians would be permitted to travel out of Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv.

There will be additional allowances for the Moslem holidays which follow the end of Ramadan.

The COGAT statement said the measures were "in line with the Israeli civil policy striving to improve the quality of life" for Paleostinians and "maintaining freedom of religion."

Israel has been facing a wave of Paleostinian attacks since October that cost hundreds of Paleostinian and Israeli lives, triggered in part by tensions over Al-Aqsa Mosque, Islam’s third holiest site, which sits atop the flashpoint Temple Mount, the site of the two Jewish temples in biblical times. Non-Moslems are allowed to visit the site, but not pray there.

The attacks have largely abated, but a ban remains in place on Israeli politicians -- both Moslem and Jewish -- from visiting the site, to prevent tensions from flaring.

But MKs from the Joint (Arab) List have informed the Knesset they intend to pray at the site during Ramadan, regardless of the ban.

UK to help Kenya in war against Shaboobs
Kenya and the United Kingdom are set to scale up their cooperation in trade and the fight against terrorism.

Speaking on Friday during a meeting at State House, President Uhuru Kenyatta and British Foreign Secretary Phillip Hammond agreed on the need for the two countries to share counter-radicalisation strategies as a move to curb terrorism. At the meeting that centred on Kenya and UK’s cooperation in defence, security and commercial partnership, Uhuru said a consolidated approach in the fight against terrorism was key to ending the scourge.

The British Foreign Secretary said the UK government is keen to take its bilateral relations with Kenya to a new level of cooperation for the benefit of the people of the two countries. He disclosed the UK’s plans to enhance cooperation with Kenya, singling out defence and energy generation as priority areas.

“We would like to see our defence cooperation moving forward and have annual joint military trainings,” Mr. Hammond said.

On energy, Hammond – who was accompanied by British High Commissioner to Kenya Nic Hailey – said British companies have a strong appetite to invest renewable energy in Kenya.

“Kenya has a huge potential for generation of renewable energy. With the right investment, Kenya could become a net exporter of energy,” the Foreign Secretary said.

Last month, Kenya signed a pact with the UK that gave Kenyan companies access to Sh36 billion of the UK Export Finance (UKEF) funding. The signed MoU also promotes opportunities for UK private sector trade and investment in Kenya’s renewable energy sector.

Uhuru welcomed the injection of capital, saying cooperation should be extended to private public partnership for rapid results.

The President and the Foreign Secretary also discussed the situation in Somalia. Uhuru called for increased international support to stabilise the Horn of African nation that has not known peace for over two decades. He said Kenya will not feel safe until peace and stability is restored in Somalia.

“More resources are required to crush the al Shabaab and strengthen the Somali National Army before the AMISOM troops can withdraw,” Uhuru said.

US, Japan agree on measures to monitor US military personnel
US Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter met with Japanese counterpart Gen Nakatani on the sidelines of the 15th Asia Security Summit, or the Shangri-La Dialogue, in Singapore, and the sides agreed to enhance monitoring of the US military present in Japan under the Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA), Sputnik reported citing Pentagon.

"Secretary Carter and Minister Nakatani decided to focus on the following areas: reviewing SOFA implementation practices related to U.S. personnel with SOFA status, including the civilian component; strengthening the monitoring of SOFA status of U.S. personnel, including the civilian component; and enhancing education and training for U.S. personnel with SOFA status," Pentagon Press Secretary Peter Cook said in a statement.

The two officials confirmed their intent to develop these measures "at the earliest possible occasion," he added.

In late May, a former US Marine, Kenneth Franklin was arrested on suspicion of stabbing and strangling a 20-year-old Japanese woman near US Kadena Air Base in Okinawa. The woman, Rina Shimabukuro, disappeared on April 28 and was later found dead in a forest. Franklin has reportedly admitted to committing the murder. Shortly following, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said at a joint press conference with US President Barack Obama that Japan would implement new measures to protect the people of Okinawa.

Carter expressed his regret over the murder, as well as offered his sincere apologies to the family and friends of the deceased. He reaffirmed his commitment to working closely with Government of Japan to prevent incidents in the future.

Police began questioning 32-year-old Shinzato who lives in the town of Yonabaru with his wife and child, after his car appeared in security camera footage in the area where GPS data from Shimabukuro’s mobile phone was last confirmed. She had been missing since late last month."

in the northern Aleppo province, rebel source said.

Lieutenant Mohammed Khalil, the military commander of al-Mou'tasem Brigade, was kidnapped in Darret Ezza town as he was heading the nearby town of Marea, said Mustafa Seijari, head of the brigade's political office.

On Thursday, the U.S. jets air-dropped weapons to al-Mou'tasem Brigade in Marea. Such an aid helped rebels to thwart ISIS attack.

Some rebel factions have accused Khalil, who received training by the American army, of betrayal due to his collaboration with Washington in his war against ISIS in Marea town.

ISIS has cut rebel supply lines from Azaz to the town of Marea farther southeast, isolating the latter from other rebel-held areas.

Bargarthi rejects Thinni’s move to disband anti-terrorism forces
[Libya Herald] In an indication that Benghazi is far from united politically or militarily, Mahdi Barghathi, defence minister in the Government of National Accord (GNA), has rejected moves by the Beida-based government of Abdullah Al-Thinni to suppress the anti-terrorist and the security forces in the city.

Both support Barghathi.

Speaking at a presser in Benghazi today, Barghathi said that such decisions would only cause further dissension within the Libyan army.

Yesterday, Thinni’s internal minister Mohammed Al-Madani Al-Fakhri ordered the disbandment of the two forces commanded by Salah Abu Laghib and Faraj Ikgaim, both of whom back the GNA.

Bargathi also said that the creation of the "Defence Brigade of Benghazi" by former members of militias that were part of the Benghazi Revolutionaries’ Shoura Council was illegitimate and it would be viewed as yet another terrorist organization, especially given that it had given its allegiance to the controversial Sadek Al-Ghariani, Libya’s grand mufti in the eyes of supporters of the former Tripoli

regime.

To those in the east opposed to him joining the GNA, Barghathi said his prime aim was to save the unity of the country. Libyans in east and west of the county, he added, had to accept one another if they wanted to avoid a civil war.
