My Endorsement for President of the United States
h/t Instapundit
I’ve decided to come off the sidelines and endorse a candidate for President of the United States.

I’ll start by reminding readers that my politics don’t align with any of the candidates. My interest in the race has been limited to Trump’s extraordinary persuasion skills. But lately Hillary Clinton has moved into the persuasion game ‐ and away from boring facts and policies ‐ with great success. Let’s talk about that.

This past week we saw Clinton pair the idea of President Trump with nuclear disaster, racism, Hitler, the Holocaust, and whatever else makes you tremble in fear.

That is good persuasion if you can pull it off because fear is a strong motivator. It is also a sharp pivot from Clinton’s prior approach of talking about her mastery of policy details, her experience, and her gender. Trump took her so-called "woman card" and turned it into a liability. So Clinton wisely pivoted. Her new scare tactics are solid-gold persuasion. I wouldn’t be surprised if you see Clinton’s numbers versus Trump improve in June, at least temporarily, until Trump finds a counter-move.

The only downside I can see to the new approach is that it is likely to trigger a race war in the United States. And I would be a top-ten assassination target in that scenario because once you define Trump as Hitler, you also give citizens moral permission to kill him. And obviously it would be okay to kill anyone who actively supports a genocidal dictator, including anyone who wrote about his persuasion skills in positive terms. (I’m called an "apologist" on Twitter, or sometimes just Joseph Goebbels).

If Clinton successfully pairs Trump with Hitler in your mind ‐ as she is doing ‐ and loses anyway, about a quarter of the country will think it is morally justified to assassinate their own leader. I too would feel that way if an actual Hitler came to power in this country. I would join the resistance and try to take out the Hitler-like leader. You should do the same. No one wants an actual President Hitler.

So I’ve decided to endorse Hillary Clinton for President, for my personal safety. Trump supporters don’t have any bad feelings about patriotic Americans such as myself, so I’ll be safe from that crowd. But Clinton supporters have convinced me ‐ and here I am being 100% serious ‐ that my safety is at risk if I am seen as supportive of Trump. So I’m taking the safe way out and endorsing Hillary Clinton for president.

As I have often said, I have no psychic powers and I don’t know which candidate would be the best president. But I do know which outcome is most likely to get me killed by my fellow citizens. So for safety reason, I’m on team Clinton.

My prediction remains that Trump will win in a landslide based on his superior persuasion skills. But don’t blame me for anything President Trump does in office because I endorse Clinton.

The rest of you are on your own. Good luck.

#1  Disappointing post g(r)om. I'll take you at your word that you are 100% serious. I believe that the Vichy French thought much the same way. If you follow your logic, you are in fact, supporting a Hitler-like candidate in the Hildabeast. A candidate much known for her transference. In voting to protect yourself you actually put all of us at risk. I'd rather you not vote at all since you don't align with any candidate. At any rate, don't blame me for anything President Clinton does in office..

#3  Ummm, #1 Warthog - That's Scott Adams talking, not grom.

And apparently you missed this paragraph:

"So I’ve decided to endorse Hillary Clinton for President, for my personal safety. But Clinton supporters have convinced me - and here I am being 100% serious ‐ that my safety is at risk if I am seen as supportive of Trump. Unfortunately, I suspect he's not as tongue-in-cheek as he usually is.

Obama Administration Is Not As Transparent As It Claims
In trying to explain how the State Department snipped out several embarrassing minutes from a 2013 press briefing video, an agency spokesman claimed "it's not illegal" that "there were no rules specifically barring this type of scrubbing" ["State Department says a request, not a 'glitch,' purged part of briefing video," news, June 2]. That is high nonsense. The Federal Records Act, enacted in 1950 and amended in 2014, requires each agency head to "make and preserve records" (which include documents "regardless of physical form") and to guard against their "removal, defacing, alteration, corruption, deletion, erasure, or other destruction."

The State Department itself has manuals, handbooks and annual reports on its record-management practices. Evidently, the agency scrubbed not only its video but also its spokesman's memory.

This scandal is more evidence of something my organization and others have encountered in our Freedom of Information Act requests: While this administration claims to be the most transparent in history, it repeatedly confuses transparency with invisibility.

Trump and the Mexican Judge
From TFA:
[WSJ] What elevates Mr. Trump’s remarks to the reprehensible is his equation of ethnicity with bias. That truly is an attack on the independence of the judiciary because it means that a judge can be disqualified from a case merely for his personal background, rather than for any material conflict of interest.

The suit against Trump University is a classic civil fraud case that has nothing to do with ethnicity. Judge Curiel happens to be an American born in Indiana to immigrant parents, but that is of no legal import. He shouldn’t be judged by the ancestry of his parents any more than Chief Justice Roberts should be barred from ruling on religious liberty cases like the Little Sisters of the Poor because he is a Roman Catholic.

-Land of the Free
The Problem With Trump
This is as coherently as I can write with the phone, and I'm posting it here because I couldn't post it to Wheelus. It's a story illustrating why I'm not concerned about the reports of Trump's racism.

Thought for the day, OS: I think I've mentioned R before. American of Mexican descent who I subcontracted stuff to, back when I was a person.

About four or five years ago some political group had put up a billboard on hwy 90, right by the turnoff to the shop. It featured Ronald Reagan in a denim shirt and white cowboy hat and a gigantic smile, with "Remember real hope and change!" next to the picture.

R. being conservative in nature, took a picture of it on his phone, and posted it to his Facebook page.

A niece of his in Fatlanta posted back that she thought it was racist. Apparently seriously.

If Mexicans are going to adhere to the great leftist suicide religion by a 4 to 1 margin, and dismiss any deviation from that as Racist!eleventy, then non religious leftists are going to dismiss their opinions as "they're just a bunch of la raza stooges..." which I understand is closer to what Trump said than "he's just a goddamn ______..."

The real problem with Trump? If I post numbers, facts and figures to certain allegedly mainstream websites, say, links to Anthony Watts' site, they'll be censored as 'denialism' and memory holed as just another nazi.

Trump can blast through that shit by not caring, and he gets airtime while doing it. If he really is a racist, he's been empowered by the people who called me, R, and The Huntress (who I later found out helped put up the sign) racist for not being devout little socialists

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Murders, rapes, armed robberies spike inexplicably in several American cities
[IBT] As Americans reel from a shocking Memorial holiday in Chicago that saw 66 shootings and six deaths, federal officials are grappling with statistics revealing that several cities across the nation are experiencing troubling, inexplicable spikes in violence. It's too early to call it a solid trend, but the numbers are frightening, say officials.

"It's being reported on at local levels, but in my view, it's not getting the attention at the national level it deserves," FBI Director James Comey said recently. "I don't know what the answer is, but holy cow, do we have a problem."

Several cities are experiencing hikes in rapes, armed robberies and homicides. But it isn't happening across the board. While Chicago and Los Angeles are seeing homicides rise, for example, other places that would usually follow suit, like Miami and Oakland, are not.

And violence, where it is increasing, is off the charts. Homicides in Chicago, which experienced 66 homicides in May alone, are already running 50% higher than in 2015.

The FBI indicated in May that crime is up in some 40 US cities, but has not yet released statistics revealing where and how much violence is up.

Experts attribute the rise of violence in Chicago to gangs, too many guns, and too little gun-law enforcement. But some -- including Comey -- also speculate that the rift between police and communities where cops have been charged with illegally shooting suspects has made law enforcement officers reluctant to take more action on the street. Others say that breach of trust between residents and police has convinced citizens not to cooperate with law enforcement.

Many are scratching their heads over the change in the brave new world of social network relationships and short fuses. "People want a reason, right?" noted police Sergeant Kendale Adams in Indianapolis, which had a record 144 homicides last year. "There's got to be a reason, but when we look at the data it's disturbances, it's drugs, it's even simple disputes on Facebook. It's very lifestyle-oriented, that's what the data is telling is," he told the Associated Press. "Disputes that normally would have been settled through fighting are being settled through lethal means."

Champ commutes life sentences of Texas meth cook and crack dealer
[Dallas Morning News] Drug dealers from Garland and Fort Worth who were sentenced to life in prison decades ago will be free men come fall.

President Barack Obama commuted the sentences of 42 federal prisoners Friday as the White House intensifies its push to free nonviolent drug offenders from prisons.

The two North Texans granted clemency are Danny Ray White, 55, and Douglas Ray Dunkins Jr., 50. Both will have served at least two decades in prison when they’re released Oct. 1.

White, of Garland, was sentenced to hard time in 1996 for manufacturing or attempting to manufacture methamphetamine. Court records show he was also found guilty of possessing ethyl ether and a three-neck round-bottom flask, commonly used to cook speed.

Dunkins, of Fort Worth, received a mandatory life sentence in 1993 for participating in a crack cocaine-dealing conspiracy, court records show. Had the drug been powder cocaine, the mandatory sentence would have been 20 years.

Obama has now shortened the sentences of 348 people during his presidency, more than the previous seven presidents combined. The White House has accelerated its efforts to release prisoners in the tail end of the president’s second term.

The Obama administration asked the U.S. Sentencing Commission to allow imprisoned drug offenders to apply for reduced sentences in 2014, and began a program to expedite thousands of clemency requests.

That program places emphasis on aiding nonviolent drug offenders who have served more than a decade in jail with good conduct and who would be eligible for shorter sentences were they convicted today.

"We are continuing to work in bipartisan fashion to secure those much-needed, long-overdue reforms in Congress so that thousands more deserving individuals may benefit from the second chance that these individuals earned today," White House Counsel Neil Eggleston said in a blog post.

Africa Horn
Somalia: African Union peacekeepers held over 'illegal trade' in military equipment
[IBT] Somalia's security forces have arrested 15 African Union (AU) peacekeepers after allegedly apprehending the soldiers selling military supplies to civilians in the capital Mogadishu.

The African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) was created by the African Union in January 2007 as a regional peacekeeping mission with the approval of the United Nations.

While the mission is entirely funded by the European Union (EU) through contributions (EU) through contributions (€575m, £452m, $640m) made to the AU, the organisation recently announced it would reduce its funding to AMISOM by 20% following the rise of jihadist threats and conflicts in the region.

In May, Kenya also threatened to pull out its forces from Somalia if the international community failed to plug funding gaps for the operation.

AU soldiers 'selling resources meant for AU troops' to civilians

Somalia's police chief Mohamed Sheikh Hassan Hamud said its forces had arrested five AU peacekeepers and 10 Somali nationals, after catching them "red-handed"selling military equipment to civilians, including petrol, sandbags and detonators, according to the Somali National News Agency (SNNA).

The AMISOM troops were allegedly arrested after they were seen selling fuel and other military equipment in a garage in the Banadir neighbourhood of the Somali capital.

The soldiers had been under surveillance for a while, Hamud told local media, and police had been investigating "repeated claims" that equipment and other resources meant for AU troops were "ending up in the hands of people who were misusing them".

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Jordan: 'Terror attack' on intelligence headquarters leaves five dead in Amman
[IBT] Authorities in Jordan have characterised an assault on their intelligence headquarters as a "terror attack". They announced five had been killed in the country's capital Amman.

Such attacks are rare in the Hashemite Kingdom, one of the the United States' closest allies in the Middle East and a bastion of stability in comparison to neighbouring Iraq and Syria.

The BBC reported that the attack took place at the Baqaa refugee camp to the north of Amman at around 07:00 local time. The assault appears to have targeted intelligence officers working at the Palestinian refugees camp, a legacy of the 1967 Arab-Israeli war.

Government spokesman Mohammed Momani said the attack on Jordan's largest refugee camp was "cowardly". The Associated Press reported that all five of those killed in the attack were intelligence officers. According to other outlets, two of those killed may have been office administrators.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack. However, Momani indicated Islamic extremists may have been behind the assaults, decrying them as "criminal behaviour of people who are outside of our religion".

-Lurid Crime Tales-
A friend thinks O.J. Simpson may be close to finding 'real murderers'
[WAPO] After more than 20 years, countless stories, a popular TV miniseries, countless bizarro theories and, now, a lengthy documentary, the truth about who murdered Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman remains elusive.

Although O.J. Simpson, the former NFL player, was found not guilty by a jury in the trial of the century, a civil jury ordered him to pay $33.5 million in punitive and compensatory damages in finding him liable for the 1994 double murders. Now, a former Los Angeles police officer and part-time actor who has been a friend of The Juice for years thinks he might be ready to confess to killing his ex-wife and Goldman.

"The guy is in total torment today," Ron Shipp told The New York Daily News at the Los Angeles premiere of ESPN’s "O.J. Simpson: Made in America" documentary, which begins June 11. "Someone told me he is 300 pounds and he looks horrible. O.J. has always felt his appearance meant everything and now, deep down inside, he is starting to live with himself."

Betsy McCaughey: Olympics in Brazil Will Spread Zika 'Around the World'
[Breitbart] Former New York Lt. Governor Betsy McCaughey warned against attending the 2016 Rio Olympics due to concerns about the Zika virus Sunday on New York AM 970 AM radio show "The Cats Roundtable."

"If you were going to design a method to take a very severe disease and spread it worldwide really quickly... you would hold an event at the epicenter of that disease, Brazil, and invite 500,000 people to attend," McCaughey told host John Catsimatidis. "I sympathize with the athletes who have trained and especially with the Brazilian economy, but the fact is this is going to spread this disease around the world."

British special forces 'operating inside Syria alongside rebels'
[Telegraph] British special forces are operating on the front line against the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant in Syria, according to rebel commanders.

The Times reports that they have been defending a rebel unit against Isil attacks, marking the first evidence of the troop's direct involvement involvement inside Syria rather than training fighters in neighbouring Jordan.

First Lieutenant Mahmoud al-Saleh said British forces frequently crossed the border to help the New Syrian Army (NSA), comprised of former Syrian special forces, as it defends the south-eastern village of al-Tanf.

"They helped us with logistics, like building defences to make the bunkers safe," he said.

Trial to investigate link between weight, fitness and cancer recurrence
[Guardian] Scientists to test hypothesis that a weight loss programme for breast cancer patients after medical treatment lowers risk of disease returning.

A large trial is being launched this summer to establish whether diet and exercise regimes should be prescribed by doctors for women who have had breast cancer in the same way that they prescribe drugs, to prevent the disease returning and potentially save lives.

Women who are overweight or obese have a higher risk of breast cancer. But accumulating evidence suggests that becoming fitter and losing some pounds after a diagnosis could cut the chances of a recurrence and even lower the risk of death.

A number of small studies looking at the benefits of exercise and weight loss on cancer by researchers at Yale University in the US are being presented at the American Society of Clinical Oncology meeting (ASCO) in Chicago.

Prof Melinda Irwin, associate director at Yale Cancer Center and professor of epidemiology at the Yale School of Public Health, said: "We found a strong connection between exercise after diagnosis and mortality afterwards.

"Most interestingly, it showed the impact on changes in activity on mortality ‐ even if you’ve never been active before taking regular exercise seemed to show a great impact."

Champ sez NRA won't let him take GUNS away from ISIS sympathizers [video]
[RS] In an absurd segment on PBS, the moron-in-chief makes a pretty absurd argument for taking away gun rights from Americans. But it SOUNDS pretty reasonable to the untrained ear.

So, he's saying that he knows of people who are ISIS sympathizers, and he's angry that he can't take away their gun rights. Oh hey, I have a question - WHY NOT JUST ARREST ISIS SYMPATHIZERS?!?! This is a stupid argument. If there is enough evidence that these people are a threat, then arrest them, you moron. If there's not enough evidence that these people are a threat, then it's PROBABLY unconstitutional to take their gun rights away. People have noted that the no-fly list has little accountability, and NO formal recourse for protest. That means that you can be on that list and not know why, and you can't do anything about it. THAT means that Obama is trying to summarily take away people's constitutional rights without any trial, without any recourse, and without any notification.

But he doesn't say any of that while misleading the American people because he's full of crap.

Zurawik: Forget What Trump Said, '€˜What Happened To The Press Under Champ Was Really Deadly' [VIDEO]
[Daily Caller] Appearing on CNN’s "Reliable Sources," Baltimore Sun media critic David Zurawik lambasted President Obama for his attacks on a free press, saying the President was "trying to criminalize reporting."

Responding to criticism of presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump’s criticisms of the political press, Zurawik responded, "What happened to the press under Obama was really deadly."

"If, when we say what a threat Trump is to the press, and he is, all the things you listed I agree," Zurawik said. "But so far, nothing rivals what President Obama did to James Risen, did to James Rosen, and did to the AP. Trying to criminalize reporting. They called Rosen a criminal co-conspirator. Eric Holder wrote that to get the subpoena. They subpoenaed Risen. Ask Risen what he called him. He said he’s the biggest threat -- the Obama administration was the biggest threat to the press in a generation."

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Netanyahu heads to Russia as ties with Moscow strengthen
Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu headed to Moscow this morning, for his third visit to the Kremlin in nine months, as Israel-Russia ties continues to burgeon.

The meeting is the fourth one between Netanyahu and Russia President Vladimir Putin during the same period, after the pair also met at the sidelines of the recent UN climate change conference in Paris. Israeli President Reuven Rivlin has also met with Putin during that time, even cancelling a trip to Australia to visit the Russian leader at the Kremlin.

In an illustration of the growing alliance between their two countries, this time Netanyahu is scheduled to stay in Russia for an extended trip of two and a half days, meeting other leading Russian officials as well as the Russian President.

The two leaders will be engaging on a range of issues of mutual interest and potential cooperation, most notably the ongoing bloody civil war in Syria.

Russia, which supports Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad, has been heavily engaged in Syria on the side of the regime. While Israel considers the Assad regime - a close ally of Iran - an enemy, and is still technically at war with it, Jerusalem and Moscow have seen their interests in Syria converge as of late.

Last year, Netanyahu and Putin reached a landmark agreement to coordinate all Israeli and Russian forces in and over the skies of Israel's northern neighbor.

On the diplomatic front, Netanyahu will look to Russia as a way to offset a hostile White House's recent veiled threats to not use its veto in the Security Council, as well as increased pressure from Europe to impose a two-state solution over the heads of the Israeli government.
Israel and Russia share a deadly enemy: the EU.
The growing Israeli-Russian alliance also illustrates Moscow's rising influence in the Middle East, as US President Barack Obama has pulled back America's presence and influence in the region considerably.

PA police push back protesters at Joseph’s Tomb
[IsraelTimes] Crowd reportedly tries to set the Jewish shrine on fire after rumors spread of Paleostinian teen’s death

Paleostinian security forces managed to push back protesters who were advancing on the Joseph’s Tomb shrine late Saturday. According to Hebrew media reports, the protesters tried to set the site on fire.

The demonstration began Saturday night after the Paleostinian Health Ministry reported that a maimed Paleostinian teen, said to have been hurt by IDF fire on Thursday after allegedly trying to throw a Molotov cocktail at Jews praying at the site, had taken a turn for the worse in hospital.

After rumors spread through the city that Jamal Dawiqat, 20, of the nearby Balata Refugee Camp, had died, protesters erupted into the streets, setting tires on fire and clashing with PA police.

Paleostinian forces surrounded the shrine and fired tear gas at the crowd, which soon dispersed. There were no immediate reports of injuries from the festivities.

The Paleostinian Health Ministry has reportedly denied the rumors of Dawiqat’s death.

Earlier Saturday, shots were fired at an Israeli vehicle near Migdalim Junction in the northern West Bank. The shots reportedly came from cement trucks parked on the side of the road. No one was hurt in the attack.

Shots fired at Israeli bus near Nablus, Hebron military post firebombed

[IsraelTimes] No injuries reported but vehicle sustains damage; bus also attacked with rocks near settlement of Adam

An Israeli bus traveling near Nablus in the West Bank was shot at on Sunday evening, resulting in damage to the vehicle but no injuries. The attack occurred on the Hawara highway near the Paleostinian village by the same name, just south of Nablus. The windshield was damaged by the bullets, according to initial reports.

It was not immediately clear if the bus was armored, as many in the West Bank are, or who was traveling in the vehicle.

Security forces were on the scene scouring for the gunman or gunnies, the IDF said in a statement.

Another bus traveling in the West Bank on a road between the settlement of Adam and the Paleostinian village of Hizme came under a hail of stones Sunday evening, causing damage to the windshield of the vehicle. The bus driver sustained light injuries, according to reports.

Elsewhere in the West Bank, a Molotov cocktail was hurled at a military position in Hebron. There were no injuries and no damage reported in that incident.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
ISIS is killing dozens of its own in hunt for spies
In March, a senior commander with the Islamic State group was driving through northern Syria on orders to lead militants in the fighting there when a drone blasted his vehicle to oblivion.

The killing of Abu Hayjaa al-Tunsi, a Tunisian jihadi, sparked a panicked hunt within the group's ranks for spies who could have tipped off the U.S-led coalition about his closely guarded movements. By the time it was over, the group would kill 38 of its own members on suspicion of acting as informants.

They were among dozens of IS members killed by their own leadership in recent months in a vicious purge after a string of airstrikes killed prominent figures. Others have disappeared into prisons and still more have fled, fearing they could be next as the jihadi group turns on itself in the hunt for moles, according to Syrian opposition activists, Kurdish militia commanders, several Iraqi intelligence officials and an informant for the Iraqi government who worked within IS ranks.

The fear of informants has fueled paranoia among the militants' ranks. A mobile phone or internet connection can raise suspicions. As a warning to others, IS has displayed the bodies of some suspected spies in public -- or used particularly gruesome methods, including reportedly dropping some into a vat of acid.
Sounds like some higher-up in the military heard about our plan . . . .
IS "commanders don't dare come from Iraq to Syria because they are being liquidated" by airstrikes, said Bebars al-Talawy, an opposition activist in Syria who monitors the jihadi group.

Over the past months, American officials have said that the U.S. has killed a string of top commanders from the group, including its "minister of war" Omar al-Shishani, feared Iraqi militant Shaker Wuhayeb, also known as Abu Wahib, as well as a top finance official known by several names, including Haji Iman, Abu Alaa al-Afari or Abu Ali Al-Anbari.
Yeesh. You should see what the spell-checker did with this paragraph!
In the northern Iraqi city of Mosul, the biggest city held by IS across its "caliphate" stretching across Syria and Iraq, a succession of militants who held the post of "wali," or governor, in the province have died in airstrikes. As a result, those appointed to governor posts have asked not to be identified and they limit their movements, the Iraqi informant told The Associated Press. Iraqi intelligence officials allowed the AP to speak by phone with the informant, who spoke on condition of anonymity, fearing for his life.

The purge comes at a time when IS has lost ground in both Syria and Iraq. An Iraqi government offensive recaptured the western city of Ramadi from IS earlier this year, and another mission is underway to retake the nearby city of Fallujah.

Rami Abdurrahman, who heads the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, said some IS fighters began feeding information to the coalition about targets and movements of the group's officials because they needed money after the extremist group sharply reduced salaries in the wake of coalition and Russian airstrikes on IS-held oil facilities earlier this year. The damage and the loss of important IS-held supply routes into Turkey have reportedly hurt the group's financing.

"They have executed dozens of fighters on charges of giving information to the coalition or putting (GPS) chips in order for the aircraft to strike at a specific area," said Abdurrahman, referring to IS in Syria.

The militants have responded with methods of their own for rooting out spies, said the informant. For example, they have fed false information to a suspected member about the movements of IS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, and if an airstrike follows on the alleged location, they know the suspect is a spy, he said. They stop fighters in the street and inspect their mobile phones, sometimes making the fighter call any unusual numbers in front of them to see who they are.
Hopefully they don't find out about the operatives we have sleeping with their wives. Or the microphones we put in the collars of their favorite goats.
After the killing of al-Anbari, seven or eight IS officials in Mosul were taken into custody and have since disappeared, their fates unknown, said the informant.

"Daesh is now concentrating on how to find informers because they have lost commanders that are hard to replace," said a senior Iraqi intelligence official in Baghdad, using the Arabic acronym for the Islamic State group. "Now any IS commander has the right to kill a person whom they suspect is an informer for the coalition."

Another Iraqi intelligence official said at least 10 IS fighters and security officials in Mosul were killed by the group in April on suspicion of giving information to the coalition because of various strikes in the city.

Mosul also saw one of the most brutal killings of suspected informants last month, when about a dozen fighters and civilians were drowned in a vat filled with acid, one senior Iraqi intelligence official said.

In the western province of Anbar, the Iraqi militant Wuhayeb was killed in a May 6 airstrike in the town of Rutba. Wuhayeb was a militant veteran, serving first in al-Qaida in Iraq before it became the Islamic State group. He first came to prominence in 2013, when a video showed him and his fighters stopping a group of Syrian truck drivers crossing Anbar. Wuhayeb asks each if he is Sunni or Shiite, and when they say Sunni, he quizzes them on how many times one bows during prayer. When they get it wrong, three of them admit to being Alawites, a Shiite offshoot sect, and Wuhayeb and his men lay the three drivers in the dirt and shoot them to death.

After Wuhayeb's killing, IS killed several dozen of its own members in Anbar, including some mid-level officials, on suspicion of informing on his location, and other members fled to Turkey, the two intelligence officials said. They spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to talk to the press.

Some of the suspects were shot dead in front of other IS fighters as a lesson, the Iraqi officials said.

After the Tunisian militant Abu Hayjaa was killed on the road outside Raqqa on March 30, IS leadership in Iraq sent Iraqi and Chechen security officials to investigate, according to Abdurrahman and al-Talawy, the Syria-based activist. Suspects were rounded up, taken to military bases around Raqqa, and the purge ensued. Within days, 21 IS fighters were killed, including a senior commander from North Africa, Abdurrahman said.

Dozens more were taken back to Iraq for further questioning. Of those, 17 were killed and 32 were expelled from the group but allowed to live, Abdurrahman and al-Talawy said, both citing their contacts in the militant group. Among those brought to Iraq was the group's top security official for its Badiya "province," covering a part of central and eastern Syria. His fate remains unknown.

Non-IS members are also often caught up in the hunt for spies. In the Tabqa, near Raqqa, IS fighters brought a civilian, Abdul-Hadi Issa, into the main square before dozens of onlookers and announced he was accused of spying.

A masked militant then stabbed him in the heart and, with the knife still stuck in the man's chest, the fighter shot him in the head with a pistol.

Issa's body was hanged in the square with a large piece of paper on his chest proclaiming the crime and the punishment. IS circulated photos of the killing on social media.

According to al-Talawy, several other IS members were killed in the town of Sukhna near the central Syrian city of Palmyra on charges of giving information to the coalition about IS bases in the area as well as trying to locate places where al-Baghdadi might be.

Sherfan Darwish, of the U.S.-backed Syria Democratic Forces, which has been spearheading the fight against IS in Syria, said there is panic in IS-held areas where the extremists have killed people simply for having telecommunications devices in their homes.

"There is chaos. Some members and commanders are trying to flee," Darwish said.

The U.S. -led coalition has sought to use its successes in targeting IS leaders to intimidate others. In late May, warplanes dropped leaflets over IS-held parts of Syria with the pictures of two senior militants killed previously in airstrikes. "What do these Daesh commanders have in common?" the leaflet read. "They were killed at the hands of the coalition."

The jihadis have responded with their own propaganda.

"America, do you think that victory comes by killing a commander or more?" IS spokesman Abu Mohammed al-Adnani said in a May 21 audio message. "We will not be deterred by your campaigns and you will not be victorious."
What? We didn't do anything. Except maybe sit here and enjoy watching you punch yourself in the face.

Arabia
73 casualties reported in Taiz shelling
The recent shelling of residential neighborhoods in the southwestern city of Taiz has killed and wounded 73 civilians, including 14 children and nine women, Yemen’s national committee investigating claims of human rights violations reported on Sunday.

The committee, which was formed by the internationally-recognized government of President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi last year, described these figures as initial.

It also denounced shelling of residential areas in Taiz, urging for the immediate cessation of hostilities and to allow medical aid and support to those injured.

On Sunday, Al Arabiya News Channel said anti-government militias in Yemen have resumed their shelling of residential neighborhoods in Taiz, prompting people to protest against the attacks.

The protestors demanded the immediate cessation of violations by both the Iran-backed Houthi militia and former President Ali Abdullah Saleh’s loyalists. The Houthis and the loyalists are in an alliance against Hadi’s government.

The channel said the Houthis and Saleh’s loyalists have been shelling parts of the city for days but did not report any death toll.

The news comes after UN Special Envoy to Yemen Ismail Ould Cheikh spoke in late May of progress about the Yemeni peace talks currently taking place in Kuwait between Hadi’s government and the Houthi militias and their allies.

It has also been reported that the Yemeni government’s delegates have limited their discussions with Ould Cheikh after the attacks.

Intermittent clashes have also been reported on several fronts along the southern borders of Taiz province after the militia group continues to target eastern districts in the city including Kalaba and Thaabat neighborhoods with missile attacks.

He called Merkel a "chancellor-dictator" to applause from the crowd and said Germany's mainstream parties were pursuing a policy of "human flooding", an "attempt to gradually replace the German people with a population coming from all parts of the earth".

The remarks could later be seen in a video posted on YouTube from the rally in the town of Elsterwerda Thursday.

Gauland, 75, is seen twice reading from a sign held by a member of the crowd: "Today we are tolerant and tomorrow foreign in our own country," a far-right slogan used by the neo-Nazi NPD party.

Death Eater group is adopting the "cluster cell" method in order to expand its operations in Leb and abroad, reported the pan-Arab daily al-Hayat on Sunday.

Security sources explained to the daily that cluster cells work independently from each other and the members of each cell do not know the identity of members of other cells.

The terror group's method has not deterred the security forces however from detaining a number of murderous Moslems throughout the country.

...the Pak province bordering Kandahar and Uruzgun provinces in Afghanistan and Sistan Baluchistan in Iran. Its native Baloch propulation is being displaced by Pashtuns and Punjabis and they aren't happy about it...
has triggered a complex debate about different issues including illusory sovereignty, regional stability, peace in Afghanistan and the security of the China-Pakistain Economic Corridor, etc. A negative impact on already deteriorating Pakistain-US relations was expected, but the incident also brought Iran into the picture; reportedly, Mullah Mansour was coming from Iran when he was hit by the drone.

Iraq
Fallujah: ISIS shooting civilians
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] ISIS is shooting and killing civilians who try to flee Fallujah,
... the City of Mosques, which might have somthing to do with why it's not called Center of Prosperity or a really nice place to raise your kids...
the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) said on Sunday.

"Reports from families that NRC has been in touch with describe that civilians trying to cross the Euphrates River in order to flee the fighting are being targeted by armed opposition groups," the organization said in a statement.

NRC runs the camps in the town of Amriyat al-Fallujah to which most of the civilians who have fled areas around the besieged jihadist bastion are being housed.

"An unidentified number of civilians have been shot and killed trying to cross the river," NRC said.

One of the only ways for civilians to try to leave the center of Fallujah, which is littered with booby traps and roadside kabooms, is to sneak out by river.

Most of those who have already reached camps lived in outlying areas and as many as 50,000 civilians are believed to remain in the center of Fallujah, being used as human shields by ISIS.

"Our biggest fears are now tragically confirmed with civilians being directly targeted while trying to flee to safety," NRC country director Nasr Muflahi said.

"This is the worst that we feared would happen to innocent men, women and kiddies who have had to leave everything behind in order to save their lives," he said.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Iran rejects US charge of being top terror sponsor
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Iran has rejected an annual US State Department report that called it the world's leading sponsor of terrorism.

State TV on Sunday quotes Foreign Ministry front man Hossein Jaberi Ansari as saying the report is "false" and further evidence of the "lack of credibility of reports by the US State Department."

As in many previous years, the report identified Iran as the world's "foremost state sponsor of terrorism in 2015" through its financing, training and equipping of various murderous Moslem groups, notably Leb's Hezbollah, as well as the government of Syrian Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Light of the Alawites...
But Tehran has defended its support for Paleostinian murderous Moslem groups, saying they have the right to resist Israel's occupation.

Bangladesh
100,000 clerics sign fatwa against militancy
[Dhaka Tribune] More than 100,000 Islamic scholars, leaders, thinkers and Olemas have finalised a "Fatwa of peace for human well-being" to curb militancy in Bangladesh.

The Khatib of Sholakia Eidgah, who took the initiative last year, said more than 100,000 Islamic religious scholars signed the groundbreaking fatwa against terrorism and militancy.

Last December, Fariduddin Masuud, secretary general of Jamaat-e-Ulema Maulana, first came up with the idea of using Fatwa to curb militancy and sought assistance from the police and other stakeholders.

Talking to the Dhaka Tribune, the Islamic scholar said the main theme of the fatwa was "Fatwa of peace for human well-being."

Masuud said they would announce the fatwa on June 18 through a presser in Dhaka city.

"We have prepared the main part of the fatwa with 10 questions that had been raised by the Death Eater groups and we answered those questions quoting the holy Qur'an and Hadith."

Masuud said 300 Olemas first finalised the draft. "Then we finalised the copy and sent it to Olemas across the country and they sent it back with their signatures. More than 100,000 Olemas signed the Fatwa."

The Khatib of the country's largest Eid congregation said the primary target was to publish a pamphlet writing only the main part of the fatwa and to distribute it among 10 million people.

"It is our primary target. But we will not seek any assistance from the government, but if government comes forward we will welcome it. If we can reach to 10 million people then it will reach 160 million people automatically," he said.

Masuud said the Olemas who signed the Fatwa would also preach it in their mosques and madrasas.

"One cannot deny that in Bangladesh, Fatwas can have a tremendous impact. A statement against terrorism by holy mans can be very effective," he said.

The Khatib said online and social media would be used to spread the message and to sensitise the public. "We will use Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp and so on. Because the young generation gets so much misleading information on online platforms, to counter this, online media should be focused on more."

I ain't sayin' nuttin' widdout me mout'piece!
eight men convicted or wanted on "terrorism" charges as they tried to escape to Iran by speedboat, the Bahraini news agency reported on Sunday.

The men were intercepted along with two smugglers after setting off from the tiny Gulf kingdom towards the Iranian coast, the official Bahrain News Agency (BNA) said.

The agency published the men’s names and said that seven had been sentenced to between 10 to 15 years in prison for "terrorism" activity and the eighth one was wanted also on terrorism charges, it said.

The men’s attempt to cross the 193 kilometer (120 mile) stretch of water to the Iranian coast was planned by two Bahraini runaways, BNA said.

One of the men has been convicted to life and the other to 10 years in prison, it said, adding that both had escaped previously to Iran.

The incident follows a jailbreak late on Friday in which 17 prisoners fled al-Hadd jail near the dry dock on the island of Muharraq, east of the capital Manama.

On Saturday security forces recaptured 11 of the inmates, the interior ministry said but gave no indication of whether they were common criminals or political prisoners jugged

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
FSB Col. Girkin turns his criticism to Putin
Col. Girkin has been relentlessly critical of Russian actions with regard to Donetsk and Lugansk, prolly a major reason why he was cashiered.
Two years ago, Igor Strelkov was the most notorious personality of the war in east Ukraine. A former Russian security forces officer, with a clipped grey moustache and a penchant for historical re-enactments, Strelkov led the takeover of the town of Slavyansk in April 2014, which presaged the armed conflict across the region.

In Kiev, he was seen as a bloody and ruthless war criminal – a Kremlin agent sent by Moscow to wreak havoc in Ukraine. In Russia, he was portrayed as a valiant military hero, leading the local rebel forces in their fight against Kiev. He could be found striding through the corridors of the Donetsk rebel headquarters, with a Stechkin pistol in a vintage wooden holster at his hip and flanked by heavily armed bodyguards.

Two years later, he cuts a very different figure, during an interview with the Guardian at his small Moscow office. In civilian clothing and slightly chubbier, he spent the encounter stroking his huge Maine Coon cat, Grumpy, which lay on the table in front of him. Strelkov has in recent weeks turned his rhetorical fire on the Kremlin itself, even if he no longer has an army with which to back up his words.

“Putin and his circle have recently taken steps which I believe will almost inevitably lead to the collapse of the system,” Strelkov said. “We don’t know yet how, and we don’t know when, but we are certain it will collapse, and more likely sooner than later.”

Pulled out of east Ukraine by the Kremlin in August 2014, reportedly because the Russian authorities felt he was too much of a liability, Strelkov entered a strange twilight zone, prevented from returning to the conflict or featuring in state-controlled media. After nearly two years of sitting quietly, the erstwhile poster boy of the pro-Russia cause last week released a declaration strongly critical of President Vladimir Putin, and predicting upheaval and bloodshed in Russia in the near future.

Strelkov, whose real surname is Girkin (Strelkov is a pseudonym derived from the Russian for “the Shooter”), believes Putin dithered at the crucial moment in 2014, for fear of breaking off ties between Russia and the west for good. A radical nationalist who believes Russia should seize all the lands where ethnic Russians live, and who describes Ukrainians as “Russians who speak a different dialect”, Strelkov said it was fatal that Putin stopped after annexing Crimea.

“He crossed the Rubicon, but then stopped unexpectedly and illogically. He didn’t retreat, but didn’t go forward either. He has no ideas and seems to be waiting for a miracle. He’s stuck in the middle of a swamp.”

Strelkov, who studied history and models himself on the White officers who fought the Bolsheviks during the Russian civil war, has been put on international sanctions lists for his role in the Ukraine war. Last week, Polish MP Małgorzata Gosiewska presented a report on alleged war crimes committed by Strelkov to the international criminal court in the Hague, and hopes an inquiry will be launched.

Strelkov does not deny having people shot for looting, but claims the executions were legal, as they were carried out according to a Soviet law on wartime justice.

“I was the only person to hold trials, and not just shoot people. It was a troika of judges with a military prosecutor and a lawyer, and there were innocent verdicts as well,” he said.

Afghanistan
MP and brother of Farooq Wardak killed in Kabul explosion
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] An Afghan parliament member Sherwali Wardak was killed in an kaboom in Kabul
...the capital of Afghanistan. Home to continuous fighting from 1992 to 1996 between the forces of would-be strongman and Pak ISI/Jamaat-e-Islami sock puppet Gulbuddin Hekmayar and the Northern Alliance, a period which won Hek the title Most Evil Man in the World and didn't do much for the reputations of the Northern Alliance guys either....
province later this evening, sources have confirmed.

Lawmaker Sherwali is the brother of Farooq Wardak who is an influential political figure and the former Minister of Education.

The incident took place later this evening in the 5th police district of Kabul city after an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) exploded.

A politician Hamid Ahmadzai confirmed to Khaama press that the IED was planted in an electricity box and exploded upon the arrival of Mr. Sherwali.

The MP further added that Sherwali was seriously maimed in the kaboom and departed this vale of tears as he was being shifted to the hospital.

No group including the Taliban hard boyz have grabbed credit behind the attack so far.

This comes as the Taliban hard boyz have stepped up attacks against the security forces and government officials across the country recently.

The group staged a major attack against the Appellate Court in central Pashtun-infested Logar province of Afghanistan earlier today which left at least 7 people dead and over 20 others maimed.

India-Pakistan
Window of goodwill closing, warns Indian defence minister
[DAWN] Indian Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar warned on Saturday that while Prime Minister Narendra Modi had opened a window of goodwill and dialogue with Pakistain, it was now closing as doubts remained about its sincerity in tackling terrorism.

"Prime Minister Modi opened a window of opportunities when he visited (the) Pakistain prime minister. I think that window is slowly closing. Before it closes, Pakistain needs to develop that trust with India on its sincerity on the approach," he was quoted by NDTV as saying.

"Pakistain separates bandidos snuffies between good ones and bad ones. They are after bad ones but the good ones are promoted to operate in Afghanistan and India. I think that needs to be tackled at a diplomatic level," Mr Parrikar said.

The minister made the comments at the Shangri-La Dialogue, an inter-governmental security forum in Singapore. He referred to Mr Modi’s surprise visit to Lahore in December last year. The comments were backed by a tweet from BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav, a senior RSS man.

The comments came a day after the chief of the National Investigation Agency probing the Pathankot terrorist attack said the Pakistain government did not appear to be involved.

Mr Modi and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif
... served two non-consecutive terms as prime minister, heads the Pakistain Moslem League (Nawaz). Noted for his spectacular corruption, the 1998 Pak nuclear test, border war with India, and for being tossed by General Musharraf...
earlier this week had a phone conversation ahead of the latter’s heart surgery in London. They reportedly discussed ties between India and Pakistain that have cooled in recent weeks over the probe into the Pathankot terrorist strike.

An army statement later said that a military force raided at dawn the house of Lebanese national Darwish Ibrahim Abdul Khaleq where it arrested him along with Syrian citizen Hassan Mohammed Saleh.

The raiding force seized "an boom belt, a Kalashnikov machinegun, a quantity of light-caliber ammunition, four hand grenades, four detonators and various military gear," the statement added.

'Friend' resurfaces, claims girl burnt had no knowledge of marriage
[DAWN] ABBOTTABAD: Saima, the girl who eloped with the alleged help of her friend Ambreen in Abbottabad
... A pleasant city located only 30 convenient miles from Islamabad. The city is noted for its nice weather and good schools. It is the site of Pakistain's military academy, which was within comfortable walking distance of the residence of the late Osama bin Laden....
, reappeared on Sunday and stated the dear departed Ambreen knew nothing about her marriage.

"She knew nothing about my marriage and she was not my friend," said Saima, while exclusively talking to DawnNews.

She also asked the authorities for security, as she said her husband's and her life is in danger.

"Those who burnt her are now threatening me, and we ask the authorities to provide us security." Saima told DawnNews.

Saima's brother and father are both in jail, tossed in the clink
You have the right to remain silent...
for the murder of Ambreen and later burning her.

The accused have yet to confess before the authorities. The evidence arranged against them may not be 'adequate', as the police officials arrested the accused individuals by going through their cell phone records.

Ambreen's murder was linked to the orders of the jirga by the area police, the police said a 15-member jirga called by the Makol village councillor Pervez ordered for the dear departed, Ambreen, to be killed and set on fire

District Police Officer (DPO) Khurram Rasheed had told Dawn that a couple eloped and left Makol on April 23 for Abbottabad with the girl’s help and a driver named Naseer. A jirga was called at Naseer’s home when the couple could not be found.

When the jirga ended after a six-hour meeting on April 28, the girl was taken from her home to an abandoned house where she was drugged, killed, and placed in the backseat of a parked van. The van was then doused with petrol and set on fire.

The mother of the ill-fated girl was among 14 persons arrested by the Abbottabad police in connection with the case.

A senior lawyer told Dawn last month on condition of anonymity that police investigation into the case was faulty as the suspects held in connection with the case were the people who had decreed against the girl who had run away with her paramour and had nothing to do with the murder of the girl.

According to the lawyer, police had based their investigation on the phone calls made by the councillor Pervez to call up the people to participate in the jirga.

However,
a woman is only as old as she admits...
police are sure to prove the case against the jirga members.

Iraq
Iraqi forces secure southern edge of ISIS-held Fallujah
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Iraqi forces say they have secured the southern edge of ISIS stronghold of Fallujah,
... the City of Mosques, which might have somthing to do with why it's not called Center of Prosperity or a really nice place to raise your kids...
two weeks after the launch of an operation to recapture the city.

Lt. Gen. Abdel Wahab al-Saadi says his forces secured the largely agricultural southern neighborhood of Naymiyah, under cover of US-led coalition Arclight airstrikes, and are poised to enter the main city.

The slow-moving operation was announced in May. On Monday, Iraq’s elite special forces began pushing into the city center, but they have faced stiff resistance as Fallujah has been under ISIS control for more than two years, and the gunnies have been able to erect complex defenses.

Fallujah is one of the last strongholds of ISIS in Iraq. The gunnies also hold its second largest city, djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
Meanwhile,
...back at the wreckage, Captain Poindexter wished he had a cup of coffee. Even instant would do...
an Iraqi paramilitary organization dominated by Tehran-backed militias is willing to send forces inside Fallujah if efforts to retake the city are too slow, its top commander said on Sunday.

Iraqi forces launched a vast offensive on May 22-23 against Fallujah, which lies only 50 kilometers (30 miles) west of Baghdad and is one of ISIS’s main bastions.

The Hashed al-Shaabi militias have since the start of the operation confined their action to Fallujah’s outskirts and left elite federal forces to conduct breaching operations.

Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi has stated clearly that Hashed forces would not enter the city, amid fears of sectarian unrest and abuses against the city’s Sunni population.

But Hashed al-Shaabi’s military commander, who goes by the name Abu Mahdi al-Mohandis, said that could change if the fighting drags on.

"We’re partners in the liberation, our mission is not yet done," he told news hounds in Baghdad.

"We have accomplished the task given to us, which was to surround (Fallujah) while the liberation was assigned to other forces," Mohandis said.

"We are still in the area and we’ll continue to support (them) if the liberation happens quickly. If they are not able, we’ll enter with them."

Hashed and other forces have almost completely surrounded the city, where Mohandis said 2,500 ISIS fighters are still holed up.

Backed by US-led air strikes, Iraq’s elite counter-terrorism service has over the past week attempted to break into the center of the city but has been slowed by tough resistance, as well as concerns over the presence in central Fallujah of an estimated 50,000 civilians.

‘Teacher’s murderers to be brought to justice’
[DAWN] MURREE: Adviser to the Punjab
1.) Little Orphan Annie's bodyguard
2.) A province of Pakistain ruled by one of the Sharif brothers
3.) A province of India. It is majority (60 percent) Sikh and Hindoo (37 percent), which means it has relatively few Moslem riots....

Chief Minister Shahbaz Ghaus on Saturday said the teacher murder case would properly be investigated and all culprits would be punished in accordance with the law.

"Justice will not only be carried out but it will be seen as well," he said this while talking to newsmen during his visit to the hill station to get first hand information about progress in the case.

He said that the burning of a young woman was a brutal and barbarian act and whosoever was involved in this heinous crime would not go scot-free.

He said that the Punjab chief minister had taken serious notice of this brutal act and directed the police and other departments concerned to investigate the case purely on merit and bring the murderers to the court of law. On this occasion DSP Raza Khan told the news hounds that modern technology was being employed to investigate the case and the police would soon public the real causes of the murder.

He said that all four nominated accused had already been tossed in the calaboose
... anything you say can and will be used against you, whether you say it or not...
and were being interrogated.

OK don't worry. This does seem to me akin to worrying that no-one will do any kind of work.

We should be far more worried about the damage to comparative advantage caused by government taxation on incomes (or deferred AKA via sales).

Female Journalist Gunned Down in Somalia
[An Nahar] A female journalist was rubbed out Sunday in the Somali capital Mogadishu, adding to the lengthening corpse count among media in the violence-torn East African country, her colleagues said.

Sagal Salad Osman, a presenter and producer for state radio station Muqdisho, was bumped off by faceless myrmidons who then fled, they said.

"One of my colleagues, Sagal Salad Osman, was rubbed out near a university at Hodon district. She died instantly and the perpetrators have escaped after the shooting," said Ali Abdulkadir, who works at the station.

"We are very much devastated about the news of her death and we don’t know why she was killed."

Several other colleagues confirmed the death.

"It was shocking, I was told she has been studying at the university nearby where she was killed. This is horrible indeed," said Mohammed Salad, another journalist.

They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
grabbed credit for the murder of Sunil Gomez, 60, according to US-based jihadist monitoring website SITE Intelligence Group. It is the 19th attack since IS made the first claim in September last year after the murder of an Italian citizen in Dhaka.

IS said that their men had carried out the murder of five people since April when the Lion of Islam organization claimed that they had established a base in the country with a view to attacking India and Myanmar to avenge the persecution on Moslems in the region.

The government, however, rubbishes the claim of IS activities in the country, and instead blames local banned outfit Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) for the recent assassination'>assassinations of non-Moslems and non-Sunnis, and attacks on their worshipping places.

Sunil used to stay with his wife at Christian Palli and ran his grocery shop beside the house in the area which is thinly populated. The place is half a kilometre from Lalpur-Bonpara road. His only daughter Swapna Gomez lives in the same village with her husband.

SI Ashraf of Baraigram police said that they had detained one of the tenants of Sunil’s house, Sobuj, for interrogation. The other family residing at the house could not be traced.

Members of police’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and Detective Branch (DB) are dealing with the case. Senior officials of different law enforcement agencies also visited the spot.

Meanwhile,
...back at the wrecked scow, Agent 49 felt gingerly for his head. It was still there. He had been hoping differently...
members of Hindu-Buddhist-Christian Oikya Gay Pareehad and other minority groups formed a human chain at Bonpara Bazar in the afternoon and issued a seven-day ultimatum for the arrest of the killers.

Family members and Christian community leaders said that Sunil Gomez was a very gentle and peaceful person. He had no enemy.

According to locals, Sunil opened his shop after returning from the nearest bazar with some goods. Later locals discovered him throat slit with sharp weapons.

There is a two and a half feet high wall in the shop. Sunil was found holding Tk83 in his fist. For this, the Sherlocks think that the killers first bought some products and then dragged him on the wall while paying the money to slit his throat.

A woman informed the locals about the murder while she was going to some place on a rickshaw van.

The victim’s daughter Swapna said that his father had no enmity with anyone. She filed a case against unnamed persons with Baraigram police around 10:30pm, OC (investigation) Imran Hossain told the Dhaka Tribune.

Bonpara municipality Mayor KM Zakir Hossain echoed Swapna. He demanded neutral investigation into the murder and exemplary punishment to the killers.

Father Bikash Hubart Reberu, the priest at the Dharmapolli Church, said that it was beyond his imagination why Sunil had been killed.

DB OC Abdul Hyi said that a wound of sharp weapon was seen on Sunil’s neck. He said that they had interrogated some locals over the matter but got no clue since no one witnessed the incident.

The body was sent to NATOre General Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

Libya rules out international intervention
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The prime minister of Libya’s UN-backed unity government has ruled out an international military intervention to fight ISIS, which has had a growing presence in the country since 2014.

Some 25 nations including the United States and Russia agreed last month to help Libya arm itself against the bad boys, but Prime Minister Fayez al-Sarraj told French newspaper Journal du Dimanche he would not allow foreign troops on the ground.

"It’s true that we need help from the international community in our fight against terrorism and it’s true that this is something we have already received," he said in the interview, published Sunday.

"But we are not talking about international intervention," Sarraj said, adding that the presence of foreign ground troops would be "contrary to our principles."

"Rather we need satellite images, intelligence, technical help... not bombardments," he said.

The Government of National Accord (GNA), established in Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
more than two months ago, has been trying to unify violence-ridden Libya and exert its control over the entire North African country.

However,
ars longa, vita brevis...
it faces opposition from a competing authority based in the east which has its own armed forces - militias and some units of the national army - commanded by controversial General Khalifa Haftar
... served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969. He became a prisoner of war in Chad in 1987. While held prisoner, he and his fellow officers formed a group hoping to overthrow Qadaffy. He was released around 1990 in a deal with the United States government and spent nearly two decades in the United States, gaining US citizenship. In 1993, while living in the United States, he was convicted in absentia of crimes against the Jamahiriya and sentenced to death. Haftar held a senior position in the anti-Qadaffy forces in the 2011 Libyan Civil War. In 2014 he was commander of the Libyan Army when the General National Congress (GNC) refused to give up power in accordance with its term of office. Haftar launched a campaign against the GNC and its Islamic fundamentalist allies. His campaign allowed elections to take place to replace the GNC, but then developed into a civil war. Guess you can't win them all...
Both bodies are currently engaged in a race to be the first to drive ISIS out of the coastal city of Sirte, a bastion for gunnies in the country.

On Saturday, forces loyal to the GNA said they had retaken an bad boy air base near the city.

Sarraj told Journal du Dimanche that "total victory over ISIS in Sirte is close."

"(We hope) that this war against terrorism will be able to unite Libya. But it will be long. And the international community knows that," he said

America’s Biggest Losers: The Right’s Commentariat
by Clarice Feldman

[AmericanThinker] It’s looking to be a long hot summer, full of violence against Trump supporters, exposure of Clinton wrongdoing, and continued loathsome behavior by the president, academics, and the media. To its shame, at this crucial juncture many of the once-respected members of the right’s commentariat are failing their readers and proving to be America’s biggest losers.

Space constraints prevent me from detailing all the wrongdoing of Hillary Clinton and her aides and allies, but here are just some turned up this week.

Breitbart reports that it is now clear that Hillary shared the names of covert U.S. intelligence figures on her unprotected server, which had been targeted by “Russia-linked hacker attempts,” jeopardizing their lives and operations. (Compare and contrast her behavior with that of Lewis Libby and the difference in the politicized responses of this administration with Bush’s. Or even with this administration’s response to clear lawbreaking as opposed to scurrilous, baseless claims in the prior administration.)

When Bush commuted the sentence of Libby, who had not leaked the name of a covert agent -- and actually he should have pardoned him altogether but failed to -- Hillary was quick on the draw:

"This commutation sends the clear signal that in this administration, cronyism and ideology trump competence and justice." Clip and save this should she be indicted and pardoned on far worse conduct -- actually being the source of the leak of real covert agents.

The scandals continue to involve the Clinton Family Foundation as well the emails. As Don Surber observes, however, “Press scrutiny -- applies to Republicans, not Democrats.”

#1  Remember Libby/Plame?

Enough! Apply the laws to all, equally. Had I done these things with codeword/caveat classified data I would be breaking rocks at Leavenworth or hard time federal penitentiary. This is evidence enough to indict and probably arrest this lying disloyal criminal. Do it now. And investigate the Clinton Family Foundation, its founders and its funders under RICO laws. If justice dept refuses to move, then put together a special independent prosecutor in Congress before the Democrats take over.

Hey leftys here's one for you: NO JUSTICE NO PEACE. How you like it now, your chickens coming home to roost?

US officials: Ill-equipped Iraqi Army to delay anti-ISIS offensive in Mosul
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] An exhausted and ill-equipped Iraqi Army will most likely delay for months a long-planned major offensive against ISIS in Iraq’s second largest city of djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
, American officials told the New York Times
...which still proudly displays Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize...
in an interview published Friday.

While President Barack Obama
The point I was making was not that Grandmother harbors any racial animosity. She doesn’t. But she is a typical white person...
was keen to reduce US involvement in the Middle East especially in Iraq, the United States in the last two years has increased its logistic support to further equip the Iraqi Army, which has struggled to funnel basics like food, water and arms to its troops.

The Americans are currently helping with organizing logistics by insisting on the Iraqis to implement measures to enhance a supply chain that would run over 200 miles from Defense Ministry depots in the capital Baghdad area to the ISIS-occupied Mosul.

"Logistics is one of the things we are most concerned about, so we look to do everything we can to keep the timeline on track," Col. Christopher Garver, the United States front man for the coalition fighting the ISIS in Iraq, told the New York Times.

The American commanders told the paper that without US help, the offensive against Mosul would most likely fail.

The officials also described Iraq’s scorching summer heat as a major impediment. Also, a much slower pace of work is expected due to the start of the holy month of Ramadan for Moslems on Monday.

Moslems who fast abstain from eating, drinking, smoking and having martial relations from dawn until sunset.

"A lull won’t be sexy, but it’s the hard and important work that needs to be done to generate combat power," said Col. Steven Warren, who until this month was the top American military front man in Iraq.

While Americans prioritized attacking ISIS in Mosul, Iraqi government of Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi launched a vast offensive on May 22-23 against Fallujah,
... the City of Mosques, which might have somthing to do with why it's not called Center of Prosperity or a really nice place to raise your kids...
which lies only 50 kilometers (30 miles) west of Baghdad and is one of ISIS’s main bastions.

Abadi’s decision came after a rising domestic pressure to stop the threat emanating from Fallujah after a series of bloody bombings claimed by ISIS in the capital Baghdad.

Two weeks after the launch of the operation to recapture Fallujah, Iraqi forces said on Sunday they have secured the southern edge of the city.

Backed by US-led air strikes, Iraq’s elite counter-terrorism service has over the past week attempted to break into the center of the city but has been slowed by tough resistance, as well as concerns over the presence in central Fallujah of an estimated 50,000 civilians.

U.S.-Backed Syrian Fighters Advance on IS Bastion
[An Nahar] U.S.-backed fighters advanced Sunday to within five kilometers (three miles) of the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group's stronghold of Manbij in northern Syria, threatening a crucial supply link for the jihadists.

The assault on the city by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) adds to pressure on the jihadist group in Syria, which also faces another offensive by Russian-backed regime troops in its bastion province of Raqa.

Supported by air strikes by the U.S.-led coalition battling IS in Syria and Iraq, the SDF alliance of Kurdish and Arab militias has been making steady gains since launching the operation to take Manbij last week.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a Britannia-based monitoring group, said Sunday the SDF was "now within about five kilometres of the strategic city of Manbij."

Manbij is located along a route connecting Raqa -- IS' de facto capital in Syria -- to the Turkish border, a vital conduit for supplies and imported muscle.

U.S. Central Command front man Colonel Patrick Ryder said Saturday SDF fighters had seized more than 100 square kilometers (40 square miles) of territory during the advance.

More than 55 air strikes have been carried out since the offensive began, he said, adding that the goal was to hamper IS' ability "to move fighters, weapons, finances (and) supplies into and out of Syria and Iraq".

Some 3,000 Arab fighters were taking part, backed by around 500 Kurdish militia members, he said, adding that U.S. special forces were working "at the command and control level" in the operation.

- Yazidi captives freed -
In the village of Halula 27 kilometers (16 miles) east of Manbij, an AFP correspondent saw several U.S. soldiers in jeeps as they assisted SDF fighters. An AFP photographer last week took several pictures of U.S. special forces in the area.

Washington has said U.S. forces are advising the SDF on the ground but not taking direct part in combat.

In Halula, in an area of dry hills dotted with occasional trees, the AFP news hound saw dozens of civilians who had fled areas around Manbij, including many children, most with few belongings.

Sitting under a tree with her nine children, Jawaher said she was from a village near Manbij that had been under IS control.

"They lived near us and we had to do what they said or they would kill our children or take our homes," she said.

The United Nations
...the Oyster Bay money pit...
says at least 20,000 civilians have fled the fighting around Manbij.

At least 74 people have died in fighting since the start of the offensive last Monday, including 32 civilians mainly killed in coalition air strikes, said the Observatory, which relies on a network of medics and activists to monitor the conflict.

Thirty jihadists were also killed, it said, along with 12 SDF fighters.

After taking the village of Khirbet al-Rus, about 20 kilometers (12 miles) southeast of Manbij, the SDF rescued a group of Yazidis -- six women and 16 children -- who were being held captive by IS, the Observatory said.

They were among hundreds of Yazidis taken in mid-2014 as IS carried out a brutal campaign of massacres, enslavement and rape against the Yazidi minority.

The timing of the offensive -- as Syrian troops advanced into IS-held territory -- has raised suspicions that Moscow and Washington are covertly coordinating operations by their respective Syrian allies.

Attack on Logar Appellate Court leaves 7 dead, over 20 wounded
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] A group of jacket wallahs launched a coordinated attack on Pashtun-infested Logar Appellate Court in central Afghanistan.

A security official confirmed that the attack was carried out by three holy warriors armed with boom jackets and automatic rifles.

The official further added that seven people including the head of Pashtun-infested Logar Appellate Court were killed in the attack.

Provincial governor’s front man Salim Saleh said the Appellate Court Chief of Pashtun-infested Logar Mohammad Akram Nejat was killed along with six other members of the court in the attack.

Saleh further added that 23 others including the civilians and members of the court were maimed in the attack.

A group of Taliban suicide bombers launched a similar attack on Ghazni Appellate Court on Wednesday, leaving several people dead or maimed.

This comes as the Taliban group vowed to target the judiciary institutions following the execution of 6 holy warriors over terror offences by the Afghan government earlier last month.

A civilian shop owner and two soldiers at the base were rubbed out, and three gunnies were also killed in a shootout with police in the Central Asian country.

Several assailants were still on the run and police have locked down the neighborhood where the shootings took place.

Police closed off the entire neighborhood and were evacuating people from shopping malls and markets.

The suspect, who as a minor cannot be identified, was the second Gazook 17-year-old allegedly involved in tunnelling to be charged by Israel in a month.

In addition to those two, another man, 29-year-old Mahmud Atawnah, was also charged over his alleged part in the myrmidon group's tunnel network in May.

The Israeli army said the minor charged on Sunday was a member of the northern Gazoo "Beit Lahiya battalion of Hamas's military wing."

"The perpetrator conveyed valuable information regarding Hamas activities in the northern Gazoo Strip and especially Hamas's offensive tunnels," a statement said.

It alleged that "it was also revealed that Hamas is operating to establish multiple tunnels deep within the Gazoo Strip connected to the offensive tunnels infiltrating Israel."

The suspect was charged at Beersheba district court in southern Israel for a series of felonies including "membership in a terror group, weapons offences and infiltrating Israel", a justice ministry spokeswoman told AFP.
Ynet adds:
The suspect admitted that the tunnels were to be used by the Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, Special Forces Nakhba unit to kidnap IDF soldiers, commit suicide kabooms, and commit other large scale attacks on Israeli towns.

Hamas, the prisoner said, is working to create a warren of tunnels under Gazoo for its fighters to enable them to traverse the length and breadth of the strip completely underground. The tunnels contain rooms and structures to be used for the benefit of Hamas Special Forces fighters.

The majority of tunnel entrances are located in and around schools, mosques, and private homes, built with the knowledge that Israel is less likely to attack these structures.

The Paleostinian also spoke to the Shin Bet about the courses he underwent alongside work he carried out with the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades brigades.

Bangladesh
Have militants changed modus operandi?
[Dhaka Tribune] Babul Akter, a decorated police officer and a recipient of Bangladesh Police Medal in 2012 for bravery, was once introduced by the then inspector general of police at a government function as the most fearless and talented officer in his force for leading a good number of counter-terrorism operations against "homegrown" bully boys.

But such accolades, high praise, honour, and his own dedication to his job were not enough to save his own family. Akter's wife Mahmuda Khanam Mitu was stabbed and rubbed out on broad daylight in downtown Chittagong's busiest area yesterday, apparently in the hands of those same bully boys. Their seven-year-old son was a witness of the incident.

On the very same day, an elderly Christian shopkeeper was hacked to death in NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. It's headquartered in Belgium. That sez it all....
re's Banpara upazila, which has had a notorious history of bully boy activities for years.

Though the killing of the sexagenarian shopkeeper can be listed as one more tally in the ongoing killing spree, claimed by the so-called Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
or al-Qaeda in the Indian sub-continent (AQIS) operatives, but the 32-year-old Mitu's execution came as a shock to many, for the inconsistency in the known modus operandi (MO) of the bully boys.

Thus far, writers, publishers, online activists, teachers, priests, imams, LGBT activists and foreigners have been targeted in the bully boy killings.

It is safe to assume that Akter, for his direct involvement as a crucial part of state machinery in rooting out militancy, will be considered a highly-valuable target for the bully boys. But the killing of his wife demonstrates that the bully boys' MO has taken a drastically different and dangerous turn. They are not only working to spread fear among the population, but also they will not hesitate to take the path of retaliation by killing family members of coppers, mafia style.

Security analyst Maj Gen (retd) AK Mohammad Ali Sikder said: "Earlier, snuffies attacked police officials, personnel but never a family member. It seems the bully boy groups have changed the nature of their targets. They are targeting the family members of the active and efficient police officials to break their morale and to push forward their own agenda."

Philippine president-elect urges public to kill drug dealers
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Incoming Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte has encouraged the public to help him in his war against crime, urging citizens with guns to shoot and kill drug pushers who resist arrest and fight back in their neighborhoods.

In a nationally televised speech late Saturday, Rodrigo Duterte told a huge crowd in the southern city of Davao celebrating last month’s presidential victory that Filipinos who help him battle crime will be rewarded.

"Please feel free to call us, the police, or do it yourself if you have the gun -- you have my support," Duterte said, warning of an extensive illegal drug trade that involves even the country’s police.

If a drug pusher resists arrest or refuses to be brought to a cop shoppe and threatens a citizen with a gun or a knife, "you can kill him," Duterte said. "Shoot him and I’ll give you a medal."

The 71-year-old Duterte won the May 9 presidential election on a bold promise to end crime and corruption within six months of his presidency. That vow resonated among crime-weary Filipinos, though police officials considered it campaign rhetoric that was impossible to accomplish.

Human rights watchdogs have expressed alarm that his anti-crime drive may lead to widespread rights violations.

Duterte has been suspected of playing a role in many killings of suspected criminals in his city by cycle of violence-riding assassins known as the "Davao death squads," but human rights
...which are often intentionally defined so widely as to be meaningless...
watchdogs say he has not been criminally charged because nobody has dared to testify against him in court.

In his speech on Saturday, Duterte also asked three police generals based in the main national police camp in the capital to resign for involvement in crimes that he did not specify. He threatened to humiliate them in public if they did not quit and said he would order a review of dismissed criminal cases of active coppers, suggesting some may have bribed their way back onto the force.

"They go back again crucifying the Filipino," he said. "I won’t agree to that."

"If you’re still into drugs, I will kill you, don’t take this as a joke. I’m not trying to make you laugh, son of a bitch, I will really kill you," he said to loud jeers and applause.

The foul-mouthed longtime Davao mayor and former government prosecutor said crimes were committed by law enforcers because of "extreme greed and extreme need." He said that he would provide a small amount to an officer who was tempted because his wife has cancer or a mother died, but that those who would break the law because of extreme greed "will also be dealt with by me. I’ll have you killed."

Duterte, who starts his six-year presidential term on June 30, repeated a plan to offer huge bounties to those who can turn in drug lords, dead or alive.

While it remains to be seen what will happen to his threats when he takes office, some coppers have heeded his call for a tougher anti-crime approach.

In suburban Las Pinas city in the Manila metropolis, police have apprehended more than 100 minors who defied a night curfew, and men who were either having drinking sprees in public or roaming around shirtless in violation of a local ordinance. The crackdown was dubbed "Oplan Rody" -- after Duterte’s nickname -- or "Rid the Streets of Drinkers and Youth."

Iraq
Iraq will probe abuses in Fallujah operation: spokesman
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The Iraqi government will investigate allegations of abuses by the security forces in the course of the operation to retake the Lion of Islam-held city of Fallujah,
... the City of Mosques, which might have somthing to do with why it's not called Center of Prosperity or a really nice place to raise your kids...
a front man said on Sunday.

Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi has ordered the creation of a human rights
...not to be confused with individual rights, mind you...
committee to examine "any violation to the instructions on the protection of civilians," Saad al-Hadithi said in a televised briefing.

He said Abadi had issued "strict orders" for prosecutions to take place in the event of any abuses.

Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani, the most revered Shiite holy man in Iraq, has issued guidelines intended as a form of code of conduct for forces fighting ISIS and aimed at curbing abuses.

Officials including Parliament Speaker Salim al-Juburi have expressed concern
...meaning the brow was mildly wrinkled, the eyebrows drawn slightly together, and a thoughtful expression assumed, not that anything was actually done or indeed that any thought was actually expended...
over reports of abuses committed by the forces involved in the operation to recapture Fallujah.

Juburi spoke on Thursday of "information indicating that some violations were carried out by some members of the federal police and some volunteers against civilians."

The statement did not provide details on the alleged abuses, but urged Abadi to "look into these acts and deal with them in a strict and expeditious way."

Fallujah is a Sunni city that lies only 50 kilometers (30 miles) west of Baghdad and is one of ISIS’s most emblematic bastions.

The Hashed al-Shaabi taking part in the Fallujah operation is an umbrella organization that includes Sunni tribal fighters but is dominated by powerful Tehran-backed Shiite militias.

It is nominally under Abadi’s authority but some of its most powerful groups answer directly to Iran.

Those groups have been repeatedly accused of fueling sectarianism and their involvement in the Fallujah battle was seen as potentially explosive.

Hadithi reiterated Abadi’s stance that the fate of the estimated 50,000 civilians still believed trapped inside the besieged city was given utmost priority.

"The operation to liberate Fallujah could have been completed in days but we put the safety of civilians first," the front man said.

Iraqi forces launched an offensive to retake the jihadist bastion on May 22-23. After a week of shaping operations, they have since struggled to break into the city center.

The UN’s top envoy in Iraq, Jan Kubis, also said in a statement that Iraq should "thoroughly investigate" reports of human rights violations against civilians.

"This noble cause of ridding Fallujah of ISIS (ISIS) gunnies should not be allowed to be tarnished by violations of human rights and dignity of people, notably on sectarian grounds," he said.

I suspect all campaigns know this stuff by now. Another trick is to get a website like Snopes or whatever to do a page on how Hillary is not crooked and then get all of your fans to link to that using Crooked Hillary and you can make that the top result on Google. They might have changed things but the Scientologists where working that system for years.

Home Front: Culture Wars
White America’s sad last stand
A celebration of the perceived demise of "white America" as he, a white law professor, and his leftist allies see it.
[Salon] Donald Trump was born 70 years ago this month, at the very beginning of the baby boom. At that time, America was, in every sense, an unambiguously white country.

First, in demographic terms, nearly 90 percent of the population was categorized as white.
Thus endeth the "demographic part of this presentation. Next, et seq., the Marxist analysis.
Groups that in the not-too-distant past had been considered only partially or imperfectly or not really white – such as Irish and German Catholics, Italians, and Jews – had by now been largely granted white status, as part of a melting pot ideology which claimed to transform a multi-ethnic population into a society in which race and ethnicity were subsumed into a single American identity.
Oh dear. I do hope the writer is not an actual historian, as he is tad premature in his timing: Mr. Trump was born in 1946, but Yale, and presumably the other Ivies as well, only gave up on Jewish quotas for enrollment in the 1960s, according to the New York Times. One assumes Jews were only one of the many ethnic groups receiving such treatment.
(That this ideology could flourish in a culture that still featured massive legal discrimination against African Americans indicates the extent to which white America managed to avoid even thinking about the existence of black people.)
I thought we were talking about race. But now, we're talking about ideology. What ideology, pray tell, is in play here?
Second, the political, economic, and cultural dominance of white America was so taken for granted by white Americans that it was, as a social matter, invisible to them. At that time, whiteness in America was what sociologists call an “unmarked category.”
It was an "unmarked category" because government did not keep track of ethnicity until the civil rights act.
For example, if a white person had been shown a photograph of the Senate, it’s practically certain that he or she would simply not have noticed that it was made up exclusively of white people. (Nor would the observer have noticed that all these people happened to be men, but that’s a different topic.)
Nothing I saw in the laws extant at the time prevent other minorities from running for Senate. The men who were elected to the Senate were out there to do one job: rob the rest of us blind.
Of course the observer would not have noticed that all those people were men, because since 1921 there were always some Congresswomen, and since 1931 only six years when there were no female Senators. Link.
In other words, “white” and “American” were essentially synonyms. Hispanics made up less than two percent of the population, and they outnumbered Asian-Americans ten to one. Basically everyone in America was either white or black, and while in theory black people were full citizens too, in practice they weren’t, most obviously in the Jim Crow south, but in reality in the rest of the country as well.
In the Jim Crow south as well as the smug liberal north. Things weren't much better in the north than in the south.
That country no longer exists: or rather it only continues to exist in the increasingly panicked imaginations of the sorts of white people who have – it still seems incredible when one puts it into words – made Donald Trump the Republican party’s presidential candidate.
Panicked? Have you seen the anti-Trump riots? If anything the rise of Trump can be seen as a counter to a leftist racialist movement, which will be discarded once the left gets its eight year lease on the national pocketbook. On a personal note, I wouldn't vote for Trump if my life depended on it, but for the Red Queen.
I personally am a 'molten lava' voter: I will swim through molten lava to vote against Hilarity...
Today, barely three out of five Americans are non-Hispanic whites. In another two or three decades, “white” people, as traditionally defined, will make up less than half the population. White America is in the process of disappearing, and it’s no surprise that tens of millions of people who thought of this as their country are frightened by the thought that it isn’t any more.
I fail to see, and I have yet to hear from Republicans I know in meat space about race. They are all to a man worried about the growth of government, and the unrelenting runaway power of those who are behind that growth.
All this helps explain incidents such as Trump’s claim this week that a federal judge who has ruled against him in a lawsuit is a “Mexican,” even though the judge was born in Indiana. Clueless journalists treated this as yet another example of Trump’s apparently bottomless ignorance, when in fact it’s obviously a strategic choice on his part.
Strategic choice because of another Affirmative Action jurist decides to press a civil suit.
To Trump’s supporters, a person of Mexican ancestry is Mexican, rather than American, because Americans are white, and “Mexicans” aren’t. To the overt racists who make up Trump’s – and to a significant extent, the contemporary Republican party’s – electoral base, non-whites are at best Americans by courtesy or sufferance, because America has always been a white country.
Again, I have yet to hear from the circles I move in anything about race. They are more concerned, as am I about the raw power of government.
A few years ago, Trump discovered that there was an enormous untapped market, as he would think of it, for overt racism in mainstream American politics. This is why he laid the groundwork for his presidential run by constantly repeating paranoid nonsense about Barack Obama not really being an American. He was, as they say in the business schools, establishing his “brand.”
I have never accept Obama as an American because he does not accept my beliefs in the Constitution.
President Obama spent his formative years abroad, and after his return fantasized about being an African prince. At a gut level he does not respond to the world as an American.
It is very important to keep in mind that Donald Trump is now the leader of the Republican party, and that this means the Republican party is now the party of overt racism, in pretty much the same way the southern wing of the Democratic party was the party of overt, unreconstructed racism seventy years ago, when Trump first began to contaminate the planet.
The Democratic party is about subtle racism.
Nah, the Democrats are not subtle about it at all...
Every single Republican politician has charges of racism, sexism, stupidity -- and often Nazism as well -- hurled at him. Being Black, Hispanic, or female is no protection, which suggests the charge is meaningless.
Saying so isn’t considered polite,
... lies are rude by definition...
because that would imply that, as long as it’s the party of Trump, and, more important, Trumpism, being a Republican is no longer a respectable thing to be. It isn’t.
Change your registration. I vote Republican, horrified as I am about a New York liberal running for president.

#3  Isn't this one of the things people (like me) who opposed Trump warned about - his tacit tolerance of racism in some of his supporters? Now with the racist comments about the judge in his fraud case, associating him with racism is easily shown in his own words. You can bet it will be used as a very broad brush in the mainstream media to tar the entire party and all candidates who do not disavow him. And worse, a large number of voters still depend on that source for voting information. This will be devastating on down-ticket races.

It has 3 effects, first it drives away moderates due to labeling regardless of truth behind it (Goebbels repetition of a lie, used by the left press now), and second it splits the usual base of the Republican party even further due to not wanting to be associated with a racist. Third, it causes the down-ticket to split away from the party lead, weakening both.

The Trump supporters have already chased many conservatives like me away, and now they seem bent on running headlong in some sort of Gotterdammerung for the GOP in their anger at "the establishment", failing to hold themselves accountable for the candidate who they supported.

Admittedly I do not understand why such blind support exists on the right. IMHO Trump had far more serious flaws for the general election than any of the other candidates. I recognize that all candidates have flaws, but the Trump people very vocally attack anyone posting such things about their candidate. Its hero worship, almost cult-like behavior from that subset of supporters. I thought "we" on the liberty/right side of things learned better after seeing this on the left with Obama. instead, people are imitating it.

As for Campos, he is a lefty crank with an axe to grind. And with this, he will stir up the Skinheads and Nazis, who will oblige him with a vociferous and hate filled attack barrage to help him prove his point that racists support Trump and thus help his case with guilt-by-association.

Sad that it came to this. Our only hope is that Hillary gets indicted before Trump flames out completely. Yeah, right.

#5  Of course the observer would not have noticed that all those people were men, because since 1921 there were always some Congresswomen, and since 1931 only six years when there were no female Senators

...Actually, the first female member of Congress got there in 1916, Jeanette Rankin. She would be considered very liberal today, and has the distinction of voting against both the US entry into WWI (one of 56 Congresscritters to do so) and WWII (the ONLY one to do so.)

Seems to me Professor Whatshisname believes that women in US national politics starts only after the Nineteenth Amendment. The fact is that by 1921, forty states out of forty-eight allowed women to vote in one form or another, though it was far from uniform.

#7  The fear and paranoia is not the Trumpers. It is on the left.

How do I know? Because the violence is being initiated by the left.

The real issue of fear in this election isn't white people afraid of losing "privilege", that ridiculous term used by the fake educated NPR-listening pseudointellectual class whose thought process has been perverted by the Gramscian termite and Frankfurt School absurdity. The fear in this election that is palpable is that of those whose income stream depends on either direct government funding, or on regulations that force people to purchase their goods/services. Welfare recipients/public employees, grant and subsidy recipients, and rent-seekers whose business would vanish in a more sane regulatory environment are absolutely terrified right now with the prospect of having their rice bowl smashed. And yet, absent the smashing of millions of rice bowls in the near future, the country fails anyways, and the rice bowl gets smashed eventually.

"You HAVE to keep this mess, this Blue State model going, even if only for four more years! I have a mortgage to pay! I have vacations to take! If you try and take away my good thing, I, I, I'll KILL YOU!"

That, not fear of a multi-ethnic America, is the terror in this election.

#12  From Clarice Feldman's Facebook page:

From Rattler Gator:what kind of dumbbells on the Judiciary Committee ok a judge active in La Raza?
Posted by: clarice | June 05, 2016 at 08:51 PM

Clarice, I have a theory. We have a nation full of conservative lawyers who: [1] still can't quite figure out the game that has been played on them, [2] still insist on the niceties of the profession even as blatant politics are played from the bench, [3] still aghast that the equivalent of a street fighter aspires to the Presidency (he's not even a lawyer, you know?) and is close to attaining it.

That Trump is just so damn uncouth! I mean, hey . . . you have a problem with La Raza? Hell, follow the rules and file a petition to have the offending judge removed. What's the big deal, man?

They completely miss the issue the presumptive nominee is putting forward, Clarice. They scoff at the mention of Big Boy Politics in this situation because they still don't grasp that the very issue Trump is raising re Judge Curiel *is* the effectuation of Big Boy Politics from the bench and no damn petition to have the Judge removed from this singular case even remotely begins to address the issue that Trump quite rightly is saying (to the nation, mind you) needs to be addressed.

In fact, it is casually insulting to presume he has no real issue with the Judge and to assert it's really all about muddying up a case he's sure to lose. Trump seems to me to be saying this isn't a matter just for lawyers and their protocols. The NATION needs to think about this.

So . . . what kind of dumbbells, Clarice? The kind that aren't dumbbells at all. Just a group with a bunch of peers and social cohorts overly concerned with the niceties of judicial protocol while their adversaries play Big Boy Politics in legislative chambers and from the bench, completely unimpeded.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Syrian rebels take key district near Jarablus
[ARA News] JARABLUS – Subsequent to clashes with militants of the Islamic State (ISIS), Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) on Sunday made new gains in northern Syria, seizing control of key villages on the Manbij-Jarablus highway.

The SDF-led Manbij Military Council seized control of the key village of Awn Dadat on the ISIS supply route between Jarablus and Manbij near the Turkish border.

“The SDF also liberated the villages of Khirbat Hisan, Malla Saad and Safiya north of Manbij. Today ISIS lost a main supply route between Jarablus and Manbij,” an SDF official told ARA News.

“Dozens of ISIS militants were killed in the clashes before the terror group evacuated its headquarters in the area,” the source reported.

Also on Sunday, US-backed SDF troops attacked ISIS positions in the village of Qaraa, about 6km from the city of Manbij.

The SDF targeted an ISIS weapons storage centre in Qaraa, “causing heavy losses in ISIS’ manpower and equipment” the SDF leadership said in a statement obtained by ARA News.

Syrian Democratic Forces have earlier liberated dozens of villages from ISIS in the battle for Manbij. Backed by the US-led coalition’s airstrikes, the SDF is currently engaged in clashes with ISIS at the city’s border.

Last Tuesday, the Kurdish-led SDF troops launched an operation to capture Manbij and it’s countryside from the extremist group of Islamic State (ISIS). The newly established city council of Manbij released a statement suggesting that the liberation is near.

Speaking to ARA News, US-led coalition spokesman Colonel Christopher Garver said that for the US “it’s critical that the ISIS-held Manbij pocket of 98-kilometers is seized from the radical group”.

“As to why the Manbij pocket is important, it represents a major border crossing point where foreign fighters can cross into Syria from Turkey,” Garver said.

Top Syrian Kurdish commander killed in Raqqa campaign

[Ynet] A top Syrian Kurdish commander died Sunday, several days after sustaining injuries during a US-backed campaign to unseat the ISIS group from its de-facto Syrian capital, Raqqa.

Abu Layla, who commanded a brigade inside the predominantly-Kurdish Syrian Democratic Forces, was hit by ISIS sniper fire on the outskirts of Manbij, an ISIS group stronghold that controls the supply route between the Turkish border and Raqqa, the Kurdish website Rudaw said. He was evacuated by US forces to a hospital in the Iraqi Kurdish city of Sulaymaniyah, where he died.

The commander fought against ISIS bully boyz in Kobani in early 2015, according to the Britannia-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a monitoring group. Those battles, the first major setback to the ISIS advance in northern Syria, were seen as instrumental to securing US support for Kurdish forces in the country's multi-layered conflict.

Iranian al-Quds commander dies in Aleppo
Beirut- Iranian media revealed that another slaughter had hit Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps IRGC troops located in Aleppo. This is considered the second wave of massive losses Iranian troops have suffered in Aleppo, Syria.

Quds Force’s special operations commander Jahangir Jafari Naya was reportedly killed in Southern Aleppo city. Meanwhile, Syrian opposition sources confirmed that over 50 Iranian officers, and a fighter, have died in an al-Nusra Front shelling. In the attack, 13 other Iranian members were apprehended.

The Quds Force is a Special Forces unit of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards responsible for their extraterritorial operations.

The former massacre in Khan Touman last May, had also cost the Iranian interference in Syria dozens of IRGC officers.

On the other hand, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights revealed that the Russian-backed Assad regime forces- for the first time in two years- have entered Raqqa province—the zone has been considered an ISIS-held stronghold.

Moreover, Free Syrian Army general denied all Russian information claiming that two thousand extremists are gathering near north Aleppo, he confirmed that no extremists exist among the ranks of rebels, and that the sole extremists are ISIS terrorists.

FSA General Al Akidi explained that the opposition fighters are not preparing any attacks near northern Aleppo, however, he did mention Opposition fighters continuously being attacked and being disrupted.

Media Activist Manbaj Ahmed Mohammed said that ten civilians among which four belong to the same family were killed and over 17 others injured Saturday night. The casualties were caused by the U.S.-led coalition offensive against ISIS-held land in the rural areas of Manbij city in Syria.

Since the offensive began on May 30, forces have captured more than 100 square kilometres of territory, Air Force Col. Pat Ryder, U.S. Central Command spokesman, stated at a weekly media briefing on Friday.

Turkish artillery hits Kurd positions in Kobane
[ARA News] KOBANE – Turkey’s military on Sunday hit the Kurdish city of Kobane in northern Syria with four shells, bombing residential houses, local sources reported.

The Turkish army forces, stationed on the border with Syria’s Kurdish region, targeted the districts of Khikhire and Tarmik in southeastern Kobane on Sunday evening.

“Four artillery shells hit Kobane coming from the Turkish side of the border, causing destruction of several houses,” eyewitnesses told ARA News in Kobane. It was not immediately clear how many casualties fell in the Turkish bombardment.

The city of Kobane and its countryside have been under the control of the Kurdish forces of the People’s Protection Units (YPG) since expelling militants of the Islamic State (ISIS) in February 2015. Since then, the YPG-held areas have been exposed to several mortar and artillery attacks by the Turkish army, according to Kurdish military sources.

“As the Kurdish forces continue their advance against ISIS terrorists and other Turkey-backed jihadi groups, the Turkish authorities keep targeting the Kurdish positions in a direct support to those terror groups,” a YPG official told ARA News.

The assailants later attacked a group of teenagers who were sitting at a roadside pavilion a kilometer from the grocery store, but no one was injured.
