Man Lassoed Suspected Thief at Eagle Point Walmart
Yee-haw! :-D
EAGLE POINT, Ore. -- A man on a horse chased down and lassoed a suspected thief at the Eagle Point Walmart, according to witnesses.

Police say that a woman was yelling about her bike being stolen and a nearby man unloaded a horse from a trailer, lassoed the man and pulled him back toward the store. They say that the man grabbed onto a tree and wouldn't let go.

Eagle Point Police arrived on scene and arrested the man, identified as 22-year-old Victorino Arellano-Sanchez. He was lodged in the Jackson County Jail.

-Short Attention Span Theater-
Turk Pres Leaves US Amid Reports of Perceived Snub at Ali Funeral
[ABC] Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan cut short his trip to the United States today after being denied permission to participate in critical aspects of Muhammad Ali's funeral, according to a report published by Turkey's Dogan news agency.

Erdogan traveled to the U.S. to partake in Ali's funeral services. He decided to leave after reportedly being denied the right to drape a piece of ceremonial cloth on Ali's coffin during funeral prayers. Before arriving on U.S. soil, funeral organizers had removed him from the list of potential speakers at Ali's funeral, citing a limitation of time as the cause for his exclusion, according to Dogan.

Adding to an air of discord surrounding the Turkish president's trip was a short quarrel that allegedly occurred between U.S. secret service officials and Turkish presidential body guards over a matter of standing room. A request for comment by ABC News to the U.S. Secret Service was not immediately returned.

Erdogan, who has made the promotion of his Muslim heritage a central part of his legacy as president, highlighted Ali's Muslim faith yesterday at a dinner with several American Muslims.

#1  Daily Mail has this:

Erdogan and King Abdullah II of Jordan were scheduled to speak at the champion boxer's service on Friday, but was cut due to lack of program space.

'It's not about who they are, it's about the fact that we just don't have room on the program for them,' family spokesman Bob Gunnell said, adding that their representatives were 'gracious and understood' when told.

In addition, The Dogan news agency quoted presidential sources as saying funeral organizers refused to allow Erdogan to lay a cloth from the Kaaba on Ali’s coffin during the ceremony.

Erdogan and the Sunni cleric who heads Turkey’s religious affairs agency, Mehmet Gormez, had also wanted to give readings from the Quran but were not allowed to, it added.

Erdogan’s lightning visit to the US also caused consternation in Turkey, with Erdogan leaving the day after a bomb attack in Istanbul claimed by Kurdish militants that killed 11 people.

#6  It was the private funeral of a private citizen, however famous he might be. It is understandable that the family would prefer to involve people important to the person who died and his family, not heads of states from minor nations on the far side of the world. It is not clear to me that President Erdogan was even invited, rather than pushing his way in where he hadn't even been thought of.

Canada's Supreme Court Legalizes Some Sex Acts with Animals
[Breitbart] Canada’s highest court has just ruled that some sex acts between humans and animals are legal.

In a quixotic ruling, the country’s high court ruled that a man who was on trial for raping and sexually exploiting his own daughters wasn’t guilty of "bestiality." The man reportedly, "smeared peanut butter on the genitals of his victims and had the family dog lick it off while he videotaped the act."

The convicted man took his case to the Canadian Supreme Court, demanding that the bestiality charge be nullified. In the end, the court agreed.

As a result of the rape case, the court ruled 7 to 1 that humans having sexual contact with animals is OK if there is no "penetration" involved in the act.

In its ruling, the court decided that the legislature had not clearly defined the terms in the country’s bestiality laws and the way the statute is written should be read to only outlaw animal penetration, whether that penetration is animal to human or vice versa.

"Although bestiality was often subsumed in terms such as sodomy or buggery.....

Gowdy: Defense Dept May Have Deliberately Concealed Identity Of Benghazi Drone Operator
[Daily Caller] The House Select Committee on Benghazi on Friday issued a subpoena for a Defense Department official who recently falsely claimed that the military could not identify a drone operator who was working on the night of the Benghazi attacks.

The identity of the drone operator, who has been publicly identified only as "John from Iowa," has long been known to the Air Force, Select Committee chairman Trey Gowdy said Thursday after he was interviewed.

Despite that revelation, Stephen Hedger, who serves as assistant secretary of defense for legislative affairs, claimed in a strongly-worded letter sent to the committee in April that the drone operator could not be identified. (RELATED: Defense Department's Benghazi Letter Reeks Of Democratic Coordination)

He said that the Defense Department "has expended significant resources to locate anyone who might match the description of this person, to no avail."

Canada court hands over Iran assets to terror victims’ families
[IsraelTimes] Americans awarded $13 million in damages for Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, and Hezbollah attacks in Israel, Argentina
...a country located on the other side of the Deep South. It is covered with Pampers and inhabited by Grouchos, who dance the Tangle. They used to have some islands called the Malvinas located where the Falklands are now. They're not supposed to cry for Evita...
, Leb

That much less for Iran's militaristic adventures, a very good thing.
A Canadian judge has ordered Iran’s non-diplomatic land and bank accounts in Canada to be handed over to victims of attacks by Hamas and Hezbollah, sponsored by Tehran.

The judgment, obtained by AFP on Friday, awards a reported $13 million to families of Americans who died in eight bombings or hostage-takings in Buenos Aires, Israel, Leb and Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
from 1983 to 2002.

Hundreds died in the attacks.

The families, led by the parents of Marla Bennett, who was killed when a jacket wallah struck at a cafeteria at Hebrew University in Israel in 2002, had successfully sued the Islamic republic in the United States.

The US court found that Iran was responsible for training Hamas and Hezbollah operatives, as well as backing the groups financially.

But those judgments remain largely unpaid.

"Terrorism is one of the world’s greatest threats," Ontario Superior Court Justice Glenn Hainey said in his decision.

"The broad issue before the court is whether Iran is entitled to immunity from the jurisdiction of Canadian courts for its support of terrorism."

The Canadian lawsuits were brought under a relatively new law passed in 2012 that allows victims and their families to collect damages from state sponsors of terrorism.

Canada lists Iran as a state sponsor of terrorism.

Iran did not defend against either the US or Canadian lawsuits.

The ruling comes as Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s Liberal government seeks to re-establish diplomatic ties with Iran, and following Tehran’s detention of a Montreal professor, Homa Hoodfar, without charges.

Rio Olympics on life support, super bugs found at venues and on beaches
[Rooters] Scientists have found dangerous drug-resistant "super bacteria" off beaches in Rio de Janeiro that will host Olympic swimming events and in a lagoon where rowing and canoe athletes will compete when the Games start on Aug. 5.

The findings from two unpublished academic studies seen by Reuters concern Rio's most popular spots for tourists and greatly increase the areas known to be infected by the microbes normally found only in hospitals.

They also heighten concerns that Rio's sewage-infested waterways are unsafe.

A study published in late 2014 had shown the presence of the super bacteria - classified by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as an urgent public health threat - off one of the beaches in Guanabara Bay, where sailing and wind-surfing events will be held during the Games.

The first of the two new studies, reviewed in September by scientists at the Interscience Conference on Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy in San Diego, showed the presence of the microbes at five of Rio's showcase beaches, including the ocean-front Copacabana, where open-water and triathlon swimming will take place.

The other four were Ipanema, Leblon, Botafogo and Flamengo.

The super bacteria can cause hard-to-treat urinary, gastrointestinal, pulmonary and bloodstream infections, along with meningitis. The CDC says studies show that these bacteria contribute to death in up to half of patients infected.

Petraeus, Mark Kelly form new gun control group
[The Hill] Gen. David Petraeus and retired astronaut Mark Kelly announced Friday they are forming a new gun control group for veterans.

The Veterans Coalition for Common Sense will push to strengthen gun background check laws and help prevent veterans from committing suicide. It pointed to several alarming statistics about the military and gun violence.

According to the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA), about 22 veterans kill themselves each day.
Since September 11, 2001, more Americans have been killed by gun violence than combat in Iraq and Afghanistan, according to figures from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

"As service members, each of us swore an oath to protect our Constitution and the homeland," said Kelly, who formed another gun control group with his wife, former Rep. Gabby Giffords (D-Ariz.), after she was shot and seriously wounded during a mass shooting in 2011.

"Now we're asking our leaders to do more to protect our rights and save lives," Kelly added in the statement. "Gabby and I are grateful to all of these incredible veterans and leaders who are using their voice to call for commonsense change that makes our communities safer."

In addition to Petraeus, the former CIA director, and Kelly, a number of other generals and admirals will join the group, including another former CIA director, Michael Hayden, and retired Adm. Thad Allen.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Appears they missed one. Despite Clinton claims, 2012 email had classified marking
[Fox] EXCLUSIVE: Hillary Clinton, from the moment her exclusive use of personal email for government business was exposed, has claimed nothing she sent or received was marked classified at the time.

But a 2012 email released by the State Department appears to challenge that claim because it carries a classified code known as a "portion marking" - and that marking was on the email when it was sent directly to Clinton’s account.

The "C" - which means it was marked classified at the confidential level - is in the left-hand-margin and relates to an April 2012 phone call with Malawi's first female president, Joyce Banda, who took power after the death of President Mutharika in 2012.

"(C) Purpose of Call: to offer condolences on the passing of President Mukharika and congratulate President Banda on her recent swearing in."

Everything after that was fully redacted before it was publicly released by the State Department -- a sign that the information was classified at the time and dealt with sensitive government deliberations.

A US government source said there are other Clinton emails with classified markings, or marked classified, beyond the April 2012 document.

#1  Of course, that's all semantics/smoke and mirrors. As Bret Baier asked her the other day: The NDA that she signed says classified material doesn't HAVE TO be marked. By its nature and content, it's classified. She's guilty as sin and the fact she lies hourly about it makes her unfit

Wannabe stabber runs toward soldiers, is shot
The idiot didn't notice that after the restaurant massacre the Israelis are seriously annoyed.
[Ynet] The would-be attacker ran at soldiers alongside the entrance to the Shomron Regional Brigade; the soldiers shot him, avoiding injury to themselves and seriously injuring the attacker.

On Friday night, an attacker attempted to stab IDF soldiers outside the Shomron Regional Brigade. The soldiers prevented the attack by shooting the perpetrator, and no IDF injuries were reported.

The attacker arrived riding a bicycle. He approached the guard post, dismounted his bike, and rushed at the Nahal soldiers present. They shot him and succeeded in neutralizing the threat.

The IDF immediately provided first aid to the injured attacker. They declared his condition to be serious before evacuating him to the Rabin Medical Center in Petach Tikva.

This evacuation is despite the three-day closure in effect on the West Bank following the murderous attack on Wednesday night in Tel Aviv.

The rockets were aimed at areas not under Israeli control, Army Radio reported.

The tests came as part of ongoing efforts by Hamas to improve its rocket range and accuracy, two years after it last fought Israel. The Islamist terror group, which seeks to destroy Israel, has also been digging tunnels towards and under the Israeli border, in preparation for further conflict.

The Defense Ministry announced late last month that Israel foiled an attempt to smuggle metal pipes and motors into the Gazoo Strip, which could have been used for building rockets and tunnels.

The Gazoo-bound shipment came through Tarkumiya, a small village outside of Hebron in the West Bank. The trucks were headed to the Kerem Shalom Crossing, where they would enter the coastal enclave.

Inspectors at the Tarkumiya crossing, along with the Shin Bet security service, intercepted the packages, which were believed to have been on their way to Hamas in the Gazoo Strip, the ministry said in a statement.

According to officials, the "large shipment" consisted of "hundreds of pipes with a diameter under four inches, with a special kind of screw that is used for the production of mortars and rockets."

"The shipment has been confiscated and an investigation has been opened to locate those involved in the smuggling," the Defense Ministry said.

Also in May, the Israel Tax Authority uncovered an attempt to sneak four tons of ammonium chloride into Gazoo, concealed in table salt.

Sacks of the ammonium chloride were found buried in some 36 tons of salt. The chemical compound is used mainly in agriculture as a fertilizer, but like many nitrogen-based fertilizers, can also be turned into an explosive.

"This case underscores the activity of Gazoo-based terrorist organizations in smuggling dual-use materials disguised as goods destined for the civilian population and reconstruction projects," the Tax Authority said at the time.

#1  This may be a little untraditional, but what about rounding up the testers, their vehicles, any logistical supplies from the test site then follow them home to confiscate everything before blowing the house?
It seems a test site would be softer than a weapons launch site.

What else are they going to do with the rockets? Fish? No they are gonna lob them over the line.

Palestinians celebrate terror attack in Tel Aviv, Saudis strongly condemn
From Thursday. We live in ever more interesting times.
[Jpost] Following the shooting, Salma al-Jamal, a Paleostinian news anchor working at Al-Jazeera TV, wrote on Twitter: "The Ramadan operation is the best answer to stories about 'grinding of the peace processor'."

Paleostinians in the West Bank and east Jerusalem erupted into the streets to celebrate the deadly terrorist shooting in Tel Aviv on Wednesday night that left four people dead.

Upon hearing the reports of the shooting, dozens of Paleostinians gathered at Damascus Gate in the Old City of Jerusalem, singing out loud and cheering the gunnies.

In the West Bank city of Tulkarm, many young men erupted into the streets and distributed candies to the local drivers, while in the Dheisheh Refugee Camp in Bethlehem dozens of Paleostinians participated in a march praising the terror attack.

Paleostinians also expressed their joy on social media networks, where they created the hashtags "#Carlo Bullet," after the name of the improvised submachine gun used in the attack, and "#Ramadan Operation" to laud the horrendous terror shooting.

Another popular hashtag on Paleostinian social media networks was "#We broke the fast killing them," referring to the fact that the two gunnies broke their Ramadan fast in the restaurant where they later shot people.

Following the shooting, Salma al-Jamal, a Paleostinian news anchor working at Al-Jazeera
... an Arab news network headquartered in Qatar, notorious for carrying al-Qaeda press releases. The name means the Peninsula, as in the Arabian Peninsula. In recent years it has settled in to become slightly less biased than MSNBC, in about the same category as BBC or CBS...
TV, wrote on her Twitter page: "The Ramadan operation that took place today is the best answer to stories we have been hearing about 'grinding of the peace processor' that some people are trying in vain to revive."

In a striking contrast to the Paleostinian reaction, the official Saudi media strongly denounced the Tel Aviv terror attack.

Reporting about the shooting on its Facebook page, the well-known Saudi TV channel al-Arabiya referred to the people injured in the attack as "victims," and not as "settlers" as most of the Arab outlets usually refer to Israelis. This remark aroused cynical reactions among users on social media, who claimed that the channel distorted the report to defend Israel, because the victims are Paleostinians, not Israelis.

Dahham al-Enazi, a member of the Saudi Journalists Association, also condemned the shooting in a series of remarks on his Twitter page.

"The Tel Aviv attack is terror and thuggery. Our solidarity and support for the Paleostinian people does not mean that we accept the killing of innocents and civilians. We would like to extend our condolences to the families of the victims," Enazi said.

"I will keep saying that killing civilians and innocents in the streets as happened in the Tel Aviv attack is terror. Even if it happened in the streets of Tehran or Isfahan it would be terror," he concluded.

The route to terror: Police reveal how gunmen got from Hebron to Tel Aviv
For lord garth: You asked, the universe answered.
[IsraelTimes] Paleostinian cousins who killed four at Sarona Market entered Israel through gap in security fence, got help, changed clothes, took cabs from Beersheba

The two Paleostinian Lions of Islam who perpetrated the attack at the Sarona Market in central Tel Aviv on Wednesday night, killing four Israelis, arrived in the city by taxi from Beersheba, according to information revealed by security authorities Friday.

According to a joint investigation by the Shin Bet, IDF and Border Police, the two perpetrators, cousins Muhammad and Khalid Muhamra from the West Bank town of Yatta, left their village just south of Hebron and made their way to the Israeli settlement of Meitar through a wide gap in the security barrier.

The two were already armed, having purchased their weapons -- Carl Gustav automatic firearms -- in their hometown through an intermediary.

This suspected collaborator was reportedly tossed in the calaboose
Maw! They're comin' to get me, Maw!
by Israeli security forces sometime between Wednesday night and Thursday. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu revealed Thursday that a third man had been arrested.

Once on the Israeli side in Meitar, the cousins were assisted by a Paleostinian man working illegally in Israel who drove them to the Bedouin town of Segev Shalom, southeast of Beersheba.

This is where, according to the investigation, they changed into the formal attire -- suits and ties -- which they wore when they carried out the attack.

Dressed and armed, they took a taxi from Segev Shalom to Beersheba, and another cab to Tel Aviv’s Sarona Market where, after entering and ordering dessert at the Max Brenner cafe, they got up and fired their weapons at the Israeli customers around them, killing four and wounding 16.

A cab ride from Beersheba to Tel Aviv takes less than two hours and costs approximately NIS 400 (about $100)

According to Channel 2, the taxi driver who took them from Beersheba to Tel Aviv was picked up by police for questioning, and claimed he had no idea who they were and what they planned to do.

According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office on Thursday, work to plug the gaps in the security fence in the Tarkumiya-Meitar area will begin on June 28 and the budget has already been allocated.

Israel has also deployed additional forces to the area until the work is completed, the PMO's office said.

JUI-F Senator 'verbally abuses' female analyst during TV talk show
[DAWN] A Jamaat-e-Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) senator reportedly used abusive language against female analyst and rights activist Marvi Sirmed during a television show on Friday, triggering a social media uproar.

The show aired on private television channel NewsOne was debating recent honour killings in Pakistain when JUI-F Senator Hafiz Hamdullah got angry over Ms Sirmed for what he believed was her support for the comments of Barrister Masroor, a panelist in the programme, over a lack of reaction from the Council Of Islamic Ideology on these killings.

Hamdullah was of the view that Barrister Masroor should not have used the words 'pee k soey hue hain' (sleeping after getting intoxicated) for the CII chairman and his fellow JUI-F member Maulana Sherani.

"I won't allow you to speak if you are supporting his words," Hamdullah said to Sirmed.

The argument between Hamdullah and Sirmed resulted in an exchange of hot words between the rights activist and the politician.

As seen in the video, Hamdullah continued that he would not allow Sirmed to speak.

The questionable language was omitted from the transmission. However,
death is not the end. There remains the litigation over the estate...
Sirmed in her Facebook post claimed that Hamdullah began verbally abusing her with the worst possible expletives and tried to physically attack her as well.

Talking to DawnNews, Sirmed said Hamdullah also tried to physically attack her, forcing panelist Fayaz ul Hassan Chauhan to get in the way to stop him and have the channel's management call its security staff.

She further claimed that the whole episode is recorded in the channel's cameras.

PTI's Fayaz ul Hassan Chauhan and Barrister Masroor supported Sirmed's claim on social media.

On Twitter, politicians, politicians and media representatives condemned the attack on Sirmed, some also calling for revoking Maulana Hamdullah's Senate membership.

The JUI-F senator has in the past used abusive language against a female anchor during a television talk show.

He verbally abused the show host for what he called her misrepresentation of clergy's views on violence against women.

Terror cell in Alexandria dismantled
The Egyptian Ministry of Interior yesterday said that security forces have managed to arrest 13 members of a new terrorist cell that is affiliated to the Muslim Brotherhood in the city of Alexandria. The members of the cell, which is called “Lijan Al-Irbaak”, confessed to their involvement in carrying out 10 terrorist operations recently.

Since the former Muslim Brotherhood President Mohamed Morsi was removed in July 2013, the Egyptian authorities have arrested thousands of leaders and supporters of the group including its Supreme Guide Mohammed Badie who is accused of carrying out acts of violence and attempting to overthrow the state. Most of those arrested were given a variety of sentences including the death sentence.

The Ministry of Interior said in a statement issued yesterday that as part of its efforts to prosecute members and leaders of the Brotherhood and thwart their destructive plans, the leader and members of the “Lijan Al-Irbaak” cell that is affiliated to the Muslim Brotherhood were arrested in Alexandria.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Syrian besieged town of Darayya receives food aid
GENEVA (UN) – The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) on Friday announced it delivered food for the first time since 2012 to the besieged town of Darayya, a suburb of Damascus, as part of a joint UN and Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC) convoy.

WFP delivered a family ration – enough to feed 2,400 people for one month – and enough wheat flour in bags to feed the entire population of 4,000 people for a month. The nine-truck convoy also carried medical supplies and health items late on Thursday to the people of Darayya. WFP food boxes included rice, lentils, chickpeas, beans, bulgur, oil, salt and sugar.

According to a press release issued by the UN agency, more convoys are planned to all of the 19 besieged locations in Syria as part of the plan for June, following the Government of Syria’s approval to reach all these locations.

Elsewhere, WFP reported that a series of airdrops over the besieged town of Deir Ezzor have delivered a month’s supply of food for the 100,000 people trapped inside the city. It plans to continue the flights in the next few weeks to deliver another monthly ration.

In total, during the first few days of June, WFP has already provided life-saving food assistance to more than 1.4 million people across Syria as part of the organization’s monthly plan to reach 4 million displaced and vulnerable people.

3,000 migrants rescued, 2 bodies found off Italian coast
More than 3,000 boat migrants have been rescued in the Mediterranean over the past two days and two bodies have been recovered, Italian Coast Guard said on June 9.

The Coast Guard coordinated rescues of migrants from 15 different boats on June 9, bringing 1,950 people to safety. Two bodies were recovered from a rubber boat. Some 1,100 migrants were rescued at sea on June 8. The coastguard had no details about the nationalities of the migrants,
Esquimaux?
nor about the two deaths.
Lutherans?
All the rescues took place between Italy and Libya, where people-smugglers operate with impunity amid the chaos of civil war.

Britain’s HMS Enterprise and Germany’s FGS Frankfurt, patrolling the area as part of the European Union’s anti-people-smuggling operation, together rescued migrants from seven boats, a coastguard spokesman said.

A Doctors Without Borders (MSF) vessel, the Dignity 1, rescued almost 500 from four boats, while the Phoenix, run by humanitarian group Migrant Offshore Aid Station, took 243 people from two boats.

Almost 50,000 people have come ashore in Italy this year, about 10 percent fewer than in the same period last year, according to the Interior Ministry. Warm weather and calm seas have led to a surge in attempted crossings over the past three weeks, and hence in the number of deaths, according to the International Organization for Migration (IOM).

Some 320 migrants are believed to have drowned off the Greek island of Crete in the Mediterranean last week. So far 2,809 deaths have been recorded this year, about 1,000 more than in the same period of last year, the IOM estimates.
The smugglers charge about $4,000 per refugees. A one-way air ticket from Istanbul to Berlin Templehof is about $110. If Chancellor Merkel really thought that Germany needed more people and that saving refugees was a good idea, she'd be passing out tickets...

France 'Outraged' by Syrian Bombing of Daraya after Food Aid
[An Nahar] French Foreign Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault voiced outrage on Friday after the Syrian regime barrel-bombed Daraya just as aid workers were distributing the first food supplies to the besieged town in years.

Ayrault accused Damascus of "extraordinary duplicity", saying the regime had finally granted access to aid convoys after heavy international pressure "and then the bombing restarted."

The foreign minister said he was "outraged beyond words" and called for world powers to meet to discuss the worsening crisis from Syria's five-year war.

A convoy of trucks carrying food arrived in Daraya late Thursday, delivering rice, lentils, sugar, oil and wheat flour to civilians for the first time since the regime laid siege to the town in late 2012.

Early Friday, the town came under heavy bombardment, with the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights saying regime helicopters had dropped at least 20 barrel bombs.

Ayrault accused the regime of "continuing to attack its own people" and said "there is no more ceasefire" as agreed by Russia and the United States in late February.

'Silent Crisis' in Boko Haram-Hit Cameroon
[An Nahar] Unabated attacks by Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...

have sparked soaring food insecurity and driven 190,000 people from their homes, creating fertile ground for recruitment by the jihadists, the U.N. warned.

Nigeria-based Boko Haram fighters have in recent months carried out fewer spectacular attacks and suicide kabooms in neighboring Cameroon.

But the U.N. humanitarian coordinator for the country Najat Rochdi said the jihadists were attacking villages and burning homes and fields across northern Cameroon on a daily basis.

"The impact of the violence by Boko Haram is not over, and we have to remain vigilant," she told AFP this week.

While the current attacks are less eye-catching, they have a more devastating effect, Rochdi said.

She said that in the last six months alone, the number of Cameroonians displaced within their own country had jumped from 60,000 to 190,000.

In addition, Cameroon is hosting 60,000 refugees from Nigeria and another 312,000 from the Central African Republic, amounting to more than 500,000 displaced people in all.

The number at risk of going hungry, she said, has meanwhile soared from 900,000 to 2.4 million since January, as Boko Haram fighters have continued to attack fields and food supply routes.

city late on Thursday night, security officials have said.

The incident took place in the vicinity of Qala-e-Fatullah area of the city where numerous kidnap incidents have taken place in the past.

Preliminary reports suggest the 40-year-old woman was working with a Non-governmental Organization and was kidnapped as she way to Taimani.

No group has so far grabbed credit behind the incident.

This comes as the Embassy of India in Kabul issued a security alert earlier last month to the Indian citizens residing in Afghanistan and travelling to the country, warning regarding the persistent volatile situation of the country.

"All Indians residing in Afghanistan and Indian travellers to Afghanistan are advised that the security situation in Afghanistan remains highly volatile. Terrorist attacks have taken place in many parts of the country against a variety of targets including foreigners and are expected to continue. There is also the risk of kidnapping and hostage taking throughout the Afghanistan," the statement said.

Thirty Held in Uganda over 'Coup Plot'
[An Nahar] At least 30 people, including serving soldiers and an opposition MP, have been detained on suspicion of plotting to overthrow Uganda's government, the army front man said on Friday.

"We and the police are investigating the matter," Colonel Paddy Ankunda told AFP, saying the group was suspected of planning an armed uprising against President Yoweri Museveni, himself a former rebel who seized power 30 years ago.

Ankunda said the detainees were "linked to a rebel group" that he declined to name.

He said most of those locked away
Drop the heater, Studs, or you're hist'try!
were soldiers, adding that at least one politician and another opposition politician had been arrested.

The only detainee named by the army front man was Michael Kabaziguruka, an MP from the main opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party whose leader Kizza Besigye is in jug facing treason charges.

Besigye, who claimed fraud after coming second to Museveni in February's presidential election, was arrested last month for holding a mock swearing-in ceremony.

Besigye was previously charged with treason in 2005 but the case was eventually abandoned. At the time prosecutors accused him of leading a shadowy rebel group named the People's Redemption Army, a charge Besigye always denied.

Belgium Arrests New Brussels Attacks Suspect
[An Nahar] Belgian police investigating the Brussels airport and metro attacks have incarcerated
... anything you say can and will be used against you, whether you say it or not...
a man in connection with "terrorist murders," the federal prosecutor said on Friday.

The 31-year-old man, identified only as Ali E.H.A., was detained on Thursday during a house search in the Schaerbeek area of the capital, the prosecutor's office said.

Several people have previously been charged over the March 22 suicide kabooms at Zaventem airport and Maalbeek metro station which killed 32 people.

"In connection with the federal investigation after the terrorist attacks in Zaventem and Brussels, a house search was conducted," the statement said.

"The Belgian national Ali E.H.A., born on 23rd September 1984, was arrested and later put in detention by the Investigating Judge for participation in the activities of a terrorist group, terrorist murders and attempted terrorist murders, as a perpetrator, co-perpetrator or accomplice."

It added: "Currently, no further information will be given in the interest of the investigation."

The announcement comes a day after a Belgian court approved the extradition to La Belle France of Mohammed Abrini, a key suspect in both the Brussels attacks and the November Gay Paree attacks in which 130 people were killed.

He will not be handed over to French authorities for some time as he is still being investigated over the Belgium attacks.

Abrini has confessed to being the "man in the hat" caught on video with the two airport bombers and who was allegedly preparing to detonate a third bomb before fleeing the scene.

Another key suspect linked to both the Gay Paree and Brussels killings, Salah Abdeslam, was extradited to La Belle France in April. Abdeslam's brother Brahim went kaboom! during the Gay Paree massacre.

Israel Bars all Palestinians after Tel Aviv Attack
[An Nahar] Israel temporarily barred Paleostinians from entering Israeli territory Friday, a step criticized by the U.N. but which officials said was because of a shooting which killed four people in Tel Aviv.

An army spokeswoman told AFP that crossings to Israel from the West Bank and Gazoo Strip would be closed for Paleostinians in all but "medical and humanitarian cases."

She said the closure would remain in force until midnight on Sunday.

The measures came during the first Friday of the Moslem holy month of Ramadan, when tens of thousands of Paleostinians visit the al-Aqsa mosque compound in Jerusalem to pray.

A spokeswoman for COGAT, the defense ministry unit which manages civilian affairs in the occupied West Bank, said about 10,000 Paleostinians were allowed to visit al-Aqsa despite the ban.

The worshipers had to return home after Friday prayers, the spokeswoman said.

Paleostinian men between 12 and 35 were not allowed to enter the mosque, with those between 35 and 45 needing permission and those older than 45 having unrestricted access, police confirmed.

Passage was unrestricted for women.

Sheikh Azzam al-Khatib, head of the Islamic Waqf which administers al-Aqsa, said 100,000 people attended Friday prayers, down from more than 200,000 the year before.

Police declined to give a specific figure, giving an estimate of tens of thousands.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu convened his security cabinet on Thursday and announced a slew of measures against Paleostinians after Wednesday's shooting in a popular Tel Aviv nightspot, the deadliest attack in a months-long wave of violence.

Iraqi forces moved to within three km of Fallujah center
[Iran Press TV] Iraqi counter-terrorism forces are now some three kilometers away from the center of Fallujah,
... the City of Mosques, which might have somthing to do with why it's not called Center of Prosperity or a really nice place to raise your kids...
advancing to recapture the strategic city from its southern areas, a senior military commander says.

The commander of Fallujah Liberation Operations said the security forces have tightened control over Fallujah’s southern areas on Friday and are advancing to retake the city.

"ISIS wanted the battle to take place outside the city but we have moved in, and retaken all this area in eight days," Lieutenant General Abdelwahab al-Saadi said, referring to Fallujah's southern neighborhoods.

He added that Iraqi troops are "3.1 kilometers (less than two miles) from the main official building in the center" of the city.

Saadi also estimated that the Iraqi forces would manage to liberate the city from ISIS turbans "in days."

"We'll be there, in the very center, in days. Days, not weeks," he said.

Daesh terrorists massacre nearly 40 civilians in northern Syria village

ISIS terrorist group in Syria have killed nearly 40 civilians in a bloody attack on a village in the strategic northern province of Aleppo, as the bandidos snuffies continue perpetrating crimes against humanity in the conflict-ridden country.

A Kurdish source, speaking on condition of anonymity
... for fear of being murdered...
, told Sputnik news agency that ISIS bully boyz killed 36 civilians, among them women, children and senior civilians, as they mounted an assault against the village of al-Ghandoura, which lies northeast of the city of Manbij and is located nearly 450 kilometers (279 miles) north of the capital, Damascus, on Friday.

The source added that ISIS Death Eaters were clad in the uniform of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) holy warriors to carry out the heinous act of terror.

Residents of Ghandoura greeted the Death Eaters thinking they were SDF fighters. The ISIS bandidos snuffies then killed everybody whom they met.

The unnamed Kurdish source went on to say that a similar incident took place in a village north of Manbij on June 6, without specifying the number of the victims.

...an adherent of takfir wal hijra, an offshoot of Salafism that regards everybody who doesn't agree with them as apostates who must be killed...
ISIS turbans launched an attack against members of two tribes fleeing the city of Fallujah in Iraq’s strife-stricken western province of al-Anbar.

The Iraqi Joint Operations Command, in a statement released on Friday, announced that ISIS hard boyz opened fire on members of Albu Saleh and Albu Hatam tribes west of Fallujah,
... the City of Mosques, which might have somthing to do with why it's not called Center of Prosperity or a really nice place to raise your kids...
located roughly 69 kilometers (43 miles) west of the capital, Baghdad, earlier in the day as they were heading toward the city of al-Amiriyah, which lies about 30 kilometers (18.6 miles) south of Fallujah.

The statement added that there were women and kiddies among those massacred, noting that the bodies of the victims lay unattended at the site of the horrendous act of violence.

"We have underestimated how many civilians are in Fallujah," Grande said, adding, "People who are coming out are giving us the strong impression that we could be talking about maybe 80,000 to 90,000 civilians that are inside."

Islamists push Syrian army back in Homs
[ARANews] HOMS – Militant fighters of the Islamic State (ISIS) launched an offensive on the Syrian regime’s army positions in the countryside of Homs province, activists reported on Friday.

ISIS fighters carried out a surprise attack on the Syrian army headquarters in the Jib al-Jarrah district east of Homs, where fierce clashes took place and eventually ended with the army troops withdrawing towards the city of Homs.

“The Islamic State militants took over three hills in Jab al-Jarrah, overlooking the eastern neighbourhoods of Homs city,” media activist Amro al-Hussein told ARA News in Homs. “Pro-regime troops were forced to evacuate their headquarters in the district under heavy mortar shelling by ISIS.”

The population in Jib al-Jarrah district is known for its support to the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. The district has been under the control of the regime forces since the outbreak of the Syrian war in 2011.

“The terrorists [ISIS] launched a surprise attack on our forces. It was unexpected. We withdrew to avoid unnecessary losses in our ranks,” a Syrian army officer told ARA News, speaking on condition of anonymity.

“Daesh won’t hold for long in the district because the entire province in under the control of the Syrian army and retaking those hills won’t take a lot of effort,” the official said, using another acronym for ISIS.

“We will not give this terror group any opportunity to return to Homs province. The coming hours will prove that,” he said, without giving further details about their losses.

PKK militants might lay down arms - Turkish PM
Following successful operations against the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) terrorist group in several southeastern provinces of Turkey, PKK militants signaled their intention to lay down arms, Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim said, the Hurriyet newspaper reported June 9.
"Stop them! They're kicking our asses! And we're ending up in [gasp] Turkish prisons!"
Yildirim added that in spite of this, Turkey will continue military operations against the PKK until the terrorist group is completely destroyed.

Turkey's current priority is internal stability and security of its citizens, Yildirim said.

The conflict between Turkey and the PKK, which demands the creation of an independent Kurdish state, has continued for over 25 years and has claimed more than 40,000 lives.

COAS demands US target TTP, Fazlullah in Afghanistan
[GEO.TV] Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif
..Pak chief of army staff, meaning he pulls the strings on the Nawaz Sharif puppet to make it dance and sing and not do much at all....
has urged the US to target the banned Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistain (TTP) and its chief Mullah Fazlullah
...son-in-law of holy man Sufi Mohammad. Known as Mullah FM, Fazlullah had the habit of grabbing his FM mike when the mood struck him and bellowing forth sermons. Sufi suckered the Pak govt into imposing Shariah on the Swat Valley and then stepped aside whilst Fazlullah and his Talibs imposed a reign of terror on the populace like they hadn't seen before, at least not for a thousand years or so. For some reason the Pak intel services were never able to locate his transmitter, much less bomb it. After ruling the place like a conquered province for a year or so, Fazlullah's Talibs began gobbling up more territory as they pushed toward Islamabad, at which point as a matter of self-preservation the Mighty Pak Army threw them out and chased them into Afghanistan...
in Afghanistan, from where he is known to operate and launch attacks against Pak forces with impunity.

The Mighty Pak Army chief said this in a meeting with US General John Nicholson, the top commander of the Resolute Support Mission in Afghanistan, and US Ambassador Richard Olson, who called on General Raheel Sharif at the General Headquarters (GHQ) here today.

According to an ISPR blurb, the regional security situation came under discussion during the meeting, "with particular reference to border management and peace and stability in Afghanistan in the post-21 May US drone strike environment".

General Raheel Sharif was referring to the US drone attack near Noushki area of Balochistan
...the Pak province bordering Kandahar and Uruzgun provinces in Afghanistan and Sistan Baluchistan in Iran. Its native Baloch propulation is being displaced by Pashtuns and Punjabis and they aren't happy about it...
last month which killed former Afghan Taliban leader Mullah Akhtar Mansour.

"Expressing his serious concern on the US drone strike as a violation of Pakistain's illusory sovereignty, the army chief highlighted as to how it had impacted the mutual trust and respect [between the US and Pakistain] and was counter-productive in consolidating the gains of Operation Zarb-e-Azb
..the Pak offensive against Qaeda in Pakistain and the Pak Taliban in North Wazoo. The name refers to the sword of the Prophet (PTUI!)...
," said the ISPR statement.

"All efforts for durable peace in the region have to be synergized with shared commitment and responsibility in order to make them successful," the army chief was quoted as saying.

Gen Raheel Sharif said that, "while Operation Zarb-e-Azb was launched against bandidos bully boyz of all hues and sanctuaries of bandidos bully boyz have been dismantled without discrimination, all stakeholders need to understand Pakistain’s challenges with regard to mostly non-existent border, inter-tribal linkages and decades-old presence of over 3 million refugees.

"Blaming Pakistain for instability in Afghanistan is unfortunate," he told the US officials.

Raising the demand to target TTP and Mullah Fazlullah in their bases in Afghanistan, the Army chief reiterated Pakistain’s resolve "not to allow hostile intelligence agencies' efforts, especially RAW and NDS, of fomenting terrorism".

The army chief further reaffirmed the need to continue harmonized efforts against bandidos bully boyz and effective border management as ways to regional peace and stability.

"Pakistain is committed to work for a long term grinding of the peace processor for Afghanistan under the QCG framework," he said.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Israel Policeman 'Invited Gunman into Home by Mistake'
[An Nahar] An Israeli police officer inadvertently invited a Paleostinian gunman into his home after the Tel Aviv shooting thinking he was a civilian fleeing the scene of the attack, media reported Friday.

Two Paleostinians opened fire on Israelis in a popular Tel Aviv market at random on Wednesday, killing four people and injuring at least five others.

Hundreds of civilians expeditiously departed at a goodly pace when the attack started, including the off-duty police officer, his wife and in-laws who were out having ice cream, the Yediot Aharonot newspaper reported.

"We started to run towards the house, in order to be in a safe place and for my husband to take his handgun," the police officer's wife, identified only by her first name Ofri, told the newspaper.

"We got into the building and opened the apartment door and then we saw that another person had joined us. We asked him who he was and he didn't speak, just asked for 'water, water'," she said.

Ofri said the man was wearing a tight fitting black suit and tie.

"We thought that he was a civilian like us," she said.

The police officer then grabbed his gun and rushed back out to the scene of the attack at Tel Aviv's Serona market, leaving the alleged attacker at home with his wife and her parents.

Upon arrival the officer saw a gunman, who had been shot, wearing an identical suit as the man he had left at home with his wife.

He immediately made the connection, raced back home and tossed in the calaboose
Drop the rosco, Muggsy, or you're one with the ages!
the man.

"My husband came in with his gun drawn, grabbed the terrorist, put him on the floor and handcuffed him," Ofri said.

"At first we didn’t understand why he was doing this to the innocent civilian who had been sitting with us, so frightened. But then he said: 'he’s dressed just like the other terrorist,'" she added.
They were dressed like they came from the West Bank, said the Arab-Israeli waiter who observed them before they opened fire in his restaurant.

ISIS can’t pay fighters, says US treasury
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Efforts to choke off the finances of ISIS have left it unable to pay its fighters and spurred corruption within the group, a senior US official said Thursday.

Daniel Glaser, the Treasury’s assistant secretary for terrorist financing, told Congress that a combination of bombing attacks on ISIS cash stores and oil shipments, locking it out of the banking system, and cutting off Iraq government cash flows to ISIS-controlled areas, has left the group struggling financially.

"As a result of these efforts, ISIS is struggling to pay its fighters and we have seen a number of ISIS fighters leaving the battlefield as their pay and benefits have been cut and delayed," he said, using the US’s preferred acronym for Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
"When we see indications that ISIS cannot pay the salaries of its own fighters and is trying to make up for lost revenue elsewhere, we know we are hitting them where it hurts.... ISIS, like any terrorist organization, needs money to survive," he said.

In written testimony for a House of Representatives committee hearing on security threats, Glaser said the US government’s focused attack on the financial resources of Islamic State and other groups the US dubs terrorist have had significant impact.

Couple murdered by family in Lahore for marrying without consent
[GEO.TV] A couple were murdered in Lahore on Friday for marrying without their family's consent, officials said, the second so-called "honour killing" reported from the quiet provincial capital this week.

Muhammad Ashraf, 56, killed his daughter Saba and her husband Karamat Ali a day after the couple returned to Lahore's Kahna area to smooth over rocky relations with the family who disapproved of the marriage, police said.

"18-year-old Saba had married Karamat Ali, who is 35, around a year and a half ago against the will of her family and returned to her home on Thursday night to settle matters with father and other family members," said Falak Sher, a local police official.

Ashraf, a security guard by profession, opened fire on his daughter and son-in-law after becoming infuriated during a heated conversation.

"He also killed his neighbour Muhammad Akram for supporting his daughter's marriage," said Sher, adding that Ashraf and his son Safdar later surrendered to police and confessed to the murders.

The incident comes just days after another woman in Lahore, Zeenat Bibi, was set on fire by her mother for marrying a man of her own choice. Bibi's mother later confessed to the crime.

Earlier on Friday, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif
... served two non-consecutive terms as prime minister, heads the Pakistain Moslem League (Nawaz). Noted for his spectacular corruption, the 1998 Pak nuclear test, border war with India, and for being tossed by General Musharraf...

'Loyalty to Resistance' Says Salameh Remarks Reflect Inclination to 'Give Up National Sovereignty'
[An Nahar] Hizbullah
...Party of God, a Leb militia inspired, founded, funded and directed by Iran. Hizbullah refers to itself as The Resistance and purports to defend Leb against Israel, with whom it has started and lost one disastrous war to date, though it did claim victory...
's Loyalty to Resistance parliamentary bloc warned Thursday that remarks by Central Bank Governor Riad Salameh about the suspension of 100 Hizbullah-linked bank accounts reflect an inclination to renounce "national illusory sovereignty."

"The policy of blackmail and various type of pressures that the U.S. administrations practice against countries and forces that are opposed to their policies will never manage to arm-twist Hizbullah or change its stances against the U.S. tyranny and injustice," the bloc said in a statement.

"The current U.S. administration's targeting of the resistance and its supporters through the Lebanese banking sector is doomed to fail and will not succeed in achieving its objectives," Loyalty to Resistance stressed.

"The government and the Central Bank are directly concerned with protecting Leb's illusory sovereignty and its monetary and social stability," the bloc added.

Commenting on Salameh's latest statements, Loyalty to Resistance described them as "ambiguous and suspicious."

"The central bank governor's latest stance reflects an inclination to liberate the financial policy from the restraints of national illusory sovereignty and that's why we reject it in its entirety," the bloc said.

"Everyone must realize that the resistance's supporters and educational and health institutions are immune to any attempt to target them by anyone," it added.

Details Emerge About Killing of Afghan and American Journalists
Award-winning American journalist David Gilkey and his Afghan videographer colleague Zabihullah Tamanna were killed last Sunday while traveling with an Afghan army unit that came under fire in southern Helmand province, in a sign of just how dangerous the conflict remains for the media trying to cover it.

But, six days after the tragic incident, new details emerged about the Taliban ambush on the vehicle the two journalists were traveling in.

Colleagues of Gilkey and Tamanna who were traveling in a separate vehicle at the time of the attack said they think it was a pre-planned attack and the Taliban were already informed about their journey to Helmand.

In an interview with TOLOnews, Gilkey's colleagues said that other vehicles were also on the same road, but the Taliban did not target them.

"We waited for two hours for our friends David and Zabi. Because we thought they had a flat tire. We waited and we didn't receive information. Because no one could speak English. We were trying to communicate as best as we could," said one NPR journalist Monika Evstatieva who had been accompanying the two slain journalists in Helmand.

"We were in the front car with the general and its rare to have the commanding officers in the front. He usually rides the second or third or the fourth car. So we wonder if they shot David and Zabi believing they were hitting the vehicle with the general in it," said Tom Boman another colleague of the slain journalists.

The two NPR staffers said the incident happened after they left a military camp and were on their way to Marjah district.

The group of four journalists were traveling in Humvees. The two surviving journalist were with an Afghan army general in the lead vehicle, the second vehicle was carrying Afghan security forces while the third was carrying Tamanna and his American colleague.

"When you step back and look how this happened it is very suspicious that suddenly we drive into an ambush when all those military vehicles were on the road and they were never shooting it down. It was only when we arrived that they opened fire," he said.

After the attack, the car carrying the two surviving journalists returned to the military camp while the other vehicles stayed in the area.

Despite the tragic demise of their colleagues, Bowman and Evstatieva are committed to continuing their work in Afghanistan.

They said the attack will not deter their work and they will come back to Afghanistan.

Clashes lead to migration of Dasht villagers
GWADAR: The entire village of Zarren Bug in the Dasht area of Kech district wears a deserted look as the residents have migrated to Gwadar, Turbat, Karachi and other areas because of fierce clashes between militants and security forces in nearby mountains.

According to sources, the villagers whose main source of income is farming have sold their animals and properties and moved to other areas as human settlements in the area are not safe because of the clashes.

The security forces’ operation against the militants hiding in the mountainous area of Saiji Dasht and bloody clashes between them triggered fear among the people of Zarren Bug village, consisting of 500 houses. The entire village has been vacated.

Kech District Council Chairman Fida Hussain Dashti confirmed that besides Zarren Bug, thousands of people of Mulae Nagor, Jan Mohammad Bazaar and other localities of Dasht had fled their homes because of the fear of outbreak of violence.

The government had made no efforts to help them settle in a peaceful way.

The FC and other security forces have established their checkposts in Zarren Bug village and the Dasht civil administration shifted its office to the district headquarters of Turbat.

400 ISIS troops dead so far in Manbij operations
MANBIJ – US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced on Friday that at least 400 militants from the Islamic State (ISIS) have been killed since the start of the ongoing military campaign aimed at liberating Manbij in northern Syria from ISIS.

In the ongoing operation, launched on 31 May, the Kurdish-led SDF and allied Manbij Military Council have recaptured some 90 villages and farms in the countryside of Manbij.

“Our forces have also cut off all roads linking Manbij with other Syrian cities, imposing a complete siege on ISIS inside the city after retaking the Manbij-Aleppo road,” SDF official Habun Osman told ARA News.

The Syrian Democratic Forces have earlier cut off the ISIS supply lines between Manbij and the cities of Raqqa and Jarablus.

On the other hand, at least 20 SDF fighters have been killed –including prominent commander Abu Layla– and more than 100 have been wounded in the Manbij campaign so far. Also, 30 civilians lost their lives during the clashes.

The SDF leadership stressed the key role of the US-led coalition’s air cover in the Manbij campaign against ISIS.

The 98-km Manbij pocket has been for long used by ISIS as a main transit point for the movement of its jihadis across the Syrian-Turkish border.

How Clinton Donor Got on Sensitive Intelligence Board (Video)
[ABC] Newly released State Department emails help reveal how a major Clinton Foundation donor was placed on a sensitive government intelligence advisory board even though he had no obvious experience in the field, a decision that appeared to baffle the department's professional staff.
A rather shallow CV. I wonder who he's really working for ?
The emails further reveal how, after inquiries from ABC News, the Clinton staff sought to "protect the name" of the Secretary, "stall" the ABC News reporter and ultimately accept the resignation of the donor just two days later.
Kansas? No Dorothy, I'm not from around here.
Copies of dozens of internal emails were provided to ABC News by the conservative political group Citizens United, which obtained them under the Freedom of Information Act after more the two years of litigation with the government.

A prolific fundraiser for Democratic candidates and contributor to the Clinton Foundation, who later traveled with Bill Clinton on a trip to Africa, Rajiv K. Fernando's only known qualification for a seat on the International Security Advisory Board (ISAB) was his technological know-how. The Chicago securities trader, who specialized in electronic investing, sat alongside an august collection of nuclear scientists, former cabinet secretaries and members of Congress to advise Hillary Clinton on the use of tactical nuclear weapons and on other crucial arms control issues.

Knee operations are no better than painkillers, says leading surgeon
Many knee operations conducted by keyhole surgery are no more effective than painkillers, according to a leading surgeon.

Professor Andrew Carr said the success of such procedures was often down to the ‘placebo effect’, where patients feel better as a result of their belief in the treatment.

He warned some who had keyhole knee surgery suffered serious complications such as infections or pulmonary embolisms. ‘Some people die,’ he said.

‘I don’t think we should be doing operations where the entire effect is placebo,’ the founder and director of the University of Oxford Institute of Musculoskeletal Sciences told the Cheltenham Science Festival.

ISIS governor of Manbij dies in SDF attack
[ARA News] MANBIJ – Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) attacked a convoy for the radical group of Islamic State (ISIS) while trying to escape the city of Manbij in Syria’s northern Aleppo province, military sources reported on Friday.

At least ten ISIS militants were killed in the SDF shelling, including the ISIS governor of Manbij Osama al-Tounsi.

“Al-Tounsi was trying to escape Manbij along with his family and a number of his escorts. Their convoy was hit with several artillery shells. They were all killed in the attack,” local media activist Nasir Taljbini told ARA News.

The convoy, consisting of three cars, was exiting the western gate of Manbij heading towards al-Bab city when the SDF forces bombed them.

“The operation was conducted after we received information that ISIS governor of Manbij Osama al-Tounsi is trying to flee the city,” a spokesman for the SDF told ARA News in Manbij.

The death of al-Tounsi while trying to escape Manbij indicates the collapse of ISIS in the city under the ongoing operation by the western-backed SDF troops.

The moment one woman ditched the symbol of ISIS oppression by throwing off her niqab
This is the joyful moment a woman literally casts off ISIS rule by taking off her terrorist-imposed black niqab in front of fellow liberated villagers in northern Syria.

The strict dress code implemented by ISIS in their conquered areas in Syria and Iraq dictates that all women be covered from head to toe in black, covering their faces with a veil.

Images of women celebrating their freedom by no longer covering their faces in black veils are flowing out of Aleppo, where several villages and towns have been liberated from ISIS this week.

Other women in the village on the outskirts of Manbij, Aleppo, stand next to her, all wearing coloured dresses with their hands and faces exposed.

On Thursday, Khadija Abdu Al-Muotee from liberated Abu Qalqal, south of Manbij, also cast off the ISIS rules, and swore to never wear black again.

'Now I will only wear red!' an exhilarated Mrs Abdu Al-Muotee told Ara News after her town in northern Syria was freed from ISIS this week.

Celebrating the freedom of her home, Mrs Abdu Al-Muotee can be seen wearing a red leopard-print hijab decorated with flowers over a leopard-print dress with red patterns.

India-Pakistan
Slipping Pak-US ties
[DAWN] THE rumbles of discontent in the Pak-US relationship are growing once again.

Following the collapse of the Afghan peace talks and the final-year administration of US President Barack Obama
I am the change that you seek...
determinedly pushing ahead with the deepening of US-India ties, Pak policymakers appear to believe that regional developments bode ill for this country’s security interests.

Certainly, the Pak-US relationship has been characterised by a contradiction in recent years: while both countries’ leaderships have insisted that the relationship is of allies and even strategic in nature, it has been obvious that bilateral ties are essentially transactional in nature.

Now the terms of the transaction appear to be changing, precipitated perhaps by the US that Pakistain is unable to deliver the Afghan Taliban to the negotiating table.

With the US firmly in the election cycle, it is unlikely that any major policy change will be considered.

At best, the two US officials making the rounds of Islamabad and, likely, Rawalpindi will be able to balance Pak discontent with US disillusionment.

The wider problem will remain, however: how to redefine the Pak-US relationship in a way that is realistic and honest?

There is a tendency inside Pak policymaking circles to see more threats than opportunities and to view foreign policy as a zero-sum game with India.

Yet, the very countries that Pakistain is most interested in or concerned by demonstrate a significantly different approach. Competition between the US and China is allegedly driving Great Power realignments, but the US and China remain vital trading partners.

Trade is also a significant aspect of India-China ties, even as India and the US pull closer to counter Chinese influence.

And India is engaging Iran and Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
simultaneously, something Pakistain seems unwilling to do. To be sure, Pakistain does have legitimate security concerns, and many of those centre on India’s growing military strength.

But a narrow vision of security dominating all other aspects of national power may only leave Pakistain more vulnerable in the regional and international arenas.

Pakistain needs to contribute more positively to the regional order -- projects like CPEC and a tentative outreach to Central Asia need to be emphasised in all geographical directions.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Stanford sex offender Brock Turner banned for life by USA Swimming
[WASHINGTONPOST] Brock Turner, the former Stanford University swimmer sentenced to just six months and probation for sexually assaulting an unconscious woman behind a campus frat house, has been banned for life by USA Swimming.

Swimming’s governing body confirmed to USA Today on Monday that Turner will not be eligible to compete in any sanctioned events, including Olympic Trials. The ban extends to any and all future events or trials. Turner, found guilty of three charges, assault with the intent to commit rape, sexual penetration of an intoxicated person and sexual penetration of an unconscious person, would have to be a member of the organization to compete in sanctioned events.

A front man for USA Swimming, Scott Leightman, told the publication in an email, "Brock Turner’s membership with USA Swimming expired at the end of the calendar year 2014. He was not a member at the time of his crime or since then. USA Swimming doesn’t have any jurisdiction over non-members."

Leightman went on to discuss Turner’s eligibility as it would relate to USA Swimming’s code of conduct, noting that were he to apply, his application would be rejected.
So many of these cases recently have turned out to be other than as publicized by the social justice warriors, and some of the young men have successfully sued the schools and organizations that ruined their lives without proper examination of the facts. Given the judge's sentencing statement and the fact that Mr. Brock was released for good behaviour after serving only half of his six month sentence, I have to suspect this case will turn out to be in that category. If so, I hope his lawyers teach the key witchhunters a salutary lesson.

#2  The Other McCain adds some facts not much discussed in the outpourings of indignation I've seen, FrankG.

I find it interesting that he claimed he had asked and she had given consent for what he was doing in light of the fact that she had called and spoken to her boyfriend evening, though she had no memory of it. This suggests she might indeed have given permission, which would make the only issue that she had passed out during the proceedings.

I don't imagine he was as innocent as I was when Mr. Wife rescued me from the orientation advisor who was hitting on me at my freshman orientation -- I was very sheltered, which most kids choose not to be. But if he saw a cougar and she saw a pretty boy...

I suffer from reasonable doubt. And the kind of Minute Of Hate lynch mobs that have appeared in this case make me suspect extenuating facts are not being discussed.

Shaboobs execute 4 accused of spying for CIA
Al shabaab militants have on Friday publicly executed four men whom they accused of spying for Unites States Intelligence CIA. The execution took place at a square in the town of Bulo-fulay in Lower Shabelle region, where a firing squad has shot and killed three men, while the fourth was beheaded.

Al shabaab says the executed men have been found guilty of involving in the killing of senior militant leaders by U.S. drone strikes in rebel-held areas in Southern Somalia.

Hundreds of residents have watched the execution event, which was carried out a squad of masked fighters belonging to Al shabaab who publicly executed three blind-folded men tied to poles in the square.

Al shabaab has in the past carried out similar executions against people whom they accused of collaborating with Western and Somali Intelligence agencies.

Iraq
Turkey continues to shell PKK positions in northern Iraq
Turkish air forces continue to shell positions of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) terrorist group in northern Iraq, the General Staff of Turkish Armed Forces said in a message June 9. The Turkish air forces have destroyed six strongholds of the terrorists.

On June 8, Turkish air forces also implemented surgical strikes
...almost as surgical as a Rooshun air strike...
on the positions of PKK militants in northern Iraq.

Earlier, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Prime Minister Binali Yildirim said that the military operations will continue until the complete destruction of the PKK.

Terror Networks
US, Iraqi officials can’t confirm ISIS leader wounded
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] US and Iraqi officials fighting ISIS said on Friday they could not confirm a report by an Iraqi TV channel that ISIS leader His Supreme Immensity, Caliph of the Faithful and Galactic Overlord, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi
...formerly merely the head of ISIL and a veteran of the Bagram jailhouse. Looks like a new messiah to bajillions of Moslems, like just another dead-eyed mass murder to the rest of us...
had been maimed in an air strike in northern Iraq.

A front man for the US-led coalition fighting the radical Islamist Lion of Islams, Colonel Chris Garver, said in an email that he had seen the reports but had "nothing to confirm this at this time."

Kurdish and Arab security officials in northern Iraq said they also could not confirm the report.

Al Sumaria TV cited a local source in the northern province of Nineveh saying that Baghdadi and other ISIS leaders were maimed on Thursday in a coalition air strike on one of the group’s command headquarters close to the Syrian border.

The channel has good connections with Shiite politicians and Iraqi forces engaged in the battle against ISIS.

There have been several reports in the past that Baghdadi, whose real name is Ibrahim al-Samarrai, was killed or maimed after proclaiming himself caliph of all Moslems two years ago.

The ultra-hardline Sunni group is under increased pressure in both Iraq and Syria, and the territory under its control has shrunk significantly since 2014, limiting the potential for its leaders to move around or seek shelter.

The US earlier this year announced an intensification of the war on ISIS with more air strikes and more American troops on the ground to advise and assist allied forces.

The US-led coalition has regularly flown raids out of Erbil, the capital of Iraq’s Kurdistan region, in operations aimed at killing and capturing ISIS leaders.

A Kurdish intelligence official and an Arab from the Baaj area west of djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
said the US-led coalition had conducted such a raid there earlier this week. The coalition did not confirm this raid.

Alone on the range: Bundy, Finicum kids carry on
Tuckup, Ariz. • Her dust trail hems in five dozen cattle while Tean Finicum — pronounced Tee-Ann — rides behind them from flank to flank, driving the herd toward a dirt road that borders a low mountainside.

As her saddle-length blond braid bobs in step with her horse, the 18-year-old shouts over the wind to direct the movements of her mom, Jeanette. Together with two frantic border collies, they impress upon the cattle that the most convenient option is to mosey on forward while sneaking mouthfuls of the windswept grass.

Weekend adventurers in motorcycles and SUVs wave as they pass on the road — “There are some real-live cowgirls back there,” one will announce to the passengers of a car parked ahead.

After a few miles, Tean rides away from the herd while Jeanette continues to drawl “Heeey, cow” at its rear. She waits for them just beyond a cattle guard, demanding that they turn more than 90 degrees and begin to climb the mountain where the scrub is less dense.

They’d rather not. The last time Tean tried this, when she was by herself, the cattle refused. The whole effort, including a 45-mile drive south from the family’s home near the Utah border in Cane Beds, Ariz., had been for nothing.

This time, the dogs scurry about to browbeat the grunting insubordinates as mother and daughter turn them toward slope and sky. The herd starts and stops, starts again and stops again. Finally, deprived of an easier choice, it heads unhurriedly toward the top, from which point memory alone will lead the cattle to the higher ground’s water source.

The day’s work has been a success, and the Finicums are pleased.

But even victories like these are dampered by a recurring thought.

This was easier with Dad.

Caribbean-Latin America
Venezuela Officials Warn Anti-Maduro Recall to be Halted if Violence Erupts
[An Nahar] Venezuelan authorities set a timeline Friday for the next stage in the opposition's push to call a referendum to sack President Nicolas Maduro, but warned they would halt the process if violence erupts.

Electoral authorities will take fingerprint scans from June 20 to 24 to confirm the identity of people who signed a petition for a referendum, said the head of the National Electoral Board, Tibisay Lucena -- a small victory for the opposition as it races against the clock.

But Lucena warned the entire process would be halted if it turned violent.

"We want to say very emphatically (that) any aggression, disturbance or violence will lead to the immediate suspension of the process until order, peace and respect are reestablished," she told a presser.

The leftist president's opponents are scrambling to finish the lengthy process of calling a referendum by the end of the year.

After January 10, four years into Maduro's six-year term, a successful recall vote would simply hand power to his vice president, rather than trigger new elections.

Economy
Baltic Dry Index falls to 610, down 1 point.
Today, Friday, June 10 2016, the Baltic Dry Index decreased by 1 point, reaching 610 points.

Baltic Dry Index is compiled by the London-based Baltic Exchange and covers prices for transported cargo such as coal, grain and iron ore.

The index is based on a daily survey of agents all over the world. Baltic Dry hit a temporary peak on May 20, 2008, when the index hit 11,793. The lowest level ever reached was on Wednesday the 10th of February 2016, when the index dropped to 290 points.

Asia Dry Bulk-Capesize rates to climb further on strong cargo buying

Freight rates for large capesize dry cargo ships on key Asian routes could nudge higher next week after hitting multi-month highs this week on strong cargo buying volumes, ship brokers said.

Capesize rates from Western Australia to China jumped to a six-month high on Wednesday after remaining flat all week following a surge in chartering activity by Australian miners including Rio Tinto and BHP Billiton.

On the Brazil iron ore trade, rates for capesize vessels, which typically haul 170,000 tonnes of iron ore or coal, to China plateaued out this week after rising close to a near two-month high on June 6.

That came as iron ore futures on the Dalian Commodity Exchange held around their two-week highs this week with some Chinese steel producers replenishing inventories ahead of public holidays on Thursday and Friday.

Iron ore imports by top buyer China rose 22.4 percent on year to 86.75 million tonnes in May, China customs data showed.

Thermal coal demand has increased, partly due to supply disruptions, which has also helped the capesize freight market, brokers said.

“I feel next week is still going to be positive, with charter rates going north. The Brent oil price is finding support above $50 a barrel and there is a stable volume of coal cargoes,” a Shanghai capesize broker said.

“Sentiment is firm in the market. I feel the South Africa route has also got very active recently with almost two cargoes a week.”

Around 31 capesize ships were chartered in the week to June 8, compared with around 21 in the previous week, chartering data on the Reuters Eikon terminal showed.

“Cargo volumes are pretty good. Ship owners are in the driving seat,” a Singapore-based capesize broker said, adding tonnage availability was looking tight for the second half of the month.

Ship owners are now seeking $5 per tonne for capesize cargoes from Western Australia to China, the Singapore broker said.

“It’s taken six months for rates to get above $5. All the miners are in – it’s a perfect storm-ish.”

Freight rates for Brazil-China rose to $9.13 per tonne on Wednesday from $8.46 per tonne last week. Rates climbed to $9.15 on June 6, the highest since April 19.

Capesize charter rates for Western Australia-China soared to $4.85 per tonne on Wednesday, the highest since Nov. 30, against $4.31 per tonne the same day last week.

Charter rates for smaller panamax vessels for a north Pacific round-trip voyage fell to $3,864 per day on Wednesday, the lowest since March 30, from $4,378 a week earlier on thin cargo volumes.

Freight rates in the Far East for smaller supramax vessels held around $5,500 per day this week on strong fixture volumes, brokers said.

The Baltic Exchange’s main sea freight index slipped to 610 on Wednesday from 612 last week.

This Week In Guns, June 11th, 2016

By Chris Covert
Rantburg.com

By now you have probably heard that the 9th Circus has held that states may impose "any prohibition or restriction a state may choose to impose on concealed carry — including a requirement of “good cause,” however defined — is necessarily allowed by the Amendment.

Hard to break down such plain language, but I will try.

If you have relied on the state at any level to "protect" your right to keep and bear arms, you are doing it wrong. The language in the 2nd Amendment is plain, as was the language at the time as to the reasons why the 2nd Amendment exists. Your rights to keep and bear arms do not depend on a runaway court system however much that entity, the state and local justice-industrial complex says otherwise. You may be forced to serve prison time, and you may even be forced to render unto Caesar, but the edifice that created the recognition of the right to keep and bear arms survives.

That means that the mechanism for the right to keep and bear arms is in full play now for an increasingly tyrannical and hostile government. Your firearms are the bulwark, the only one between you and a tyrant's will.

And speaking of a tyrant's will, it is clear that Hillary Clinton, hereinafter referred to as the Red Queen, wants to destroy you and your guns. Bonnie Schaefer, head of the platform committee for the Democratic Party has stated that no one should have the right to own firearms. That is a pretty clear statement. If implemented it is theft and murder under the color of law, which, as I understand it in most societies, is a capital offense.

Says Schaefer: "Nothing is ever solved when you have a gun in your hand, except the worst possible scenario."

I'd say right now is the worst possible scenario, thanks to Schaefer, her followers and her liege, the Red Queen.

Probably helping them will be the law enforcement community.

Loads.

#1  Jeebus, can't the 9th circus be dissolved for perpetrating a fraud on the American people. Their decisions are from way out in left field--a bunch of judicial hacks/activist's who care little about the Constitution.

Afghanistan
US moving to expand airstrikes in Afghanistan
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] After months of debate, the US is close to a decision to expand the military’s authority to conduct Arclight airstrikes against the Taliban as the violence in Afghanistan escalates, a senior US defense official said Thursday.

The official said a final decision has not been made, but the discussions are in their final stages. There is a broad desire across the B.O. regime to give the military greater ability to help the Afghans fight and win the war. The official said the US is likely to expand the authority of US commanders to strike the Taliban and do whatever else is necessary with the forces they have to support the Afghan operations.

The 9,800 US troops still in Afghanistan, however, would still not be involved in direct combat. The official was not authorized to talk publicly about the discussions so spoke on condition of anonymity.

PKK-affiliated group claims deadly June 7 Istanbul car bomb attack
The Kurdistan Freedom Hawks (TAK), a group linked to the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) and carried out several attacks on civilians and security forces, has claimed a June 7 attack in the Vezneciler neighborhood of Istanbul that claimed 11 lives, six of whom were police officers.

A suicide bomber detonated a bomb-laden car, targeting a police vehicle in the central Istanbul neighborhood.

Turkey was hit by another bomb attack on June 8 in the Midyat district of the southeastern Mardin province and that strike was claimed by the PKK.

TAK also threatened Turkey in its statement, saying that Turkey was “no longer safe” for foreign tourists.

Meanwhile, the image of the suicide bomber was obtained from the security cameras near the scene of the attack in Vezneciler. A female suicide bomber is seen with a person who allegedly organized the attack in the footage as they were leaving a parking lot nearby. The suicide bomber, who was from Mardin’s Kızıltepe district, is seen walking alone and wearing a headscarf in another image.

She arrived in Istanbul 20 days before the attack and conducted reconnaissance on the scene, daily Habertürk reported on June 10.

The person near her is a member of the Patriotic Revolutionary Youth Movement (YDG-H) and was released from jail in the southeastern province of Diyarbakır two years ago, according to media reports.

A passenger car was rented from an individual identified as M.B. in the Bağcılar district of Istanbul on May 27. The car was immediately taken to Kızıltepe, where around 400 kilograms of plastic explosives were loaded inside. Upon its return, the car was parked in a multistory car park in the Eminönü district near the scene of the attack.

Surveillance footage showed the suspects brought the bomb-laden car to Vezneciler on June 7. While one of the suspects left the scene, the suicide bomber waited in the car on the side of the road. As anti-riot police vehicles which were heading to Istanbul University for regular duty began to arrive, she tried to merge in between the two police vehicles. When the driver of the second police vehicle refused to let her in, she merged ahead of the other vehicle before detonating her explosives.

Arab-Kurd forces cut last road out of Manbij
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] A US-backed Arab-Kurdish alliance on Friday severed ISIS’s main supply route to Turkey after encircling a key extremist-held town in northern Syria, a monitor said.

“The Syrian Democratic Forces cut off the last road from Manbij to the Turkish border on Friday morning,” the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

ISIS still controls territory along the Turkish border with secondary roads to the frontier but these are more dangerous and difficult to access, Observatory head Rami Abdel Rahman said.

Libya unity forces bombard ISIS in bastion Sirte
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Forces loyal to Libya’s unity government bombarded ISIS group positions in Sirte with heavy artillery Friday, a day after thrusting into the holy warrior stronghold on the Mediterranean coast.

The loss of Sirte, the hometown of ousted dictator Muammar Qadaffy
...Custodian of Wheelus AFB for 42 long years until he was ejected from the gene pool by his indignant citizens...
, would be a major blow to the turbans at a time when they are under mounting pressure in Syria and Iraq.

Forces aligned with the UN-backed Government of National Accord (GNA) said on Friday they had targeted ISIS positions with artillery fire around a conference center where the turbans had set up a command post.

GNA forces are mostly made up of militias from western cities that have sided with the unity government of prime minister-designate Fayez al-Sarraj and the guards of oil installations that ISIS has repeatedly tried to seize.

On Thursday a front man for the forces predicted Sirte could fall within days.

"The operation will not last much longer. I think we’ll be able to announce the liberation of Sirte in two or three days," said Mohamad Ghassri.

On Thursday warplanes bombed turbans positions in Sirte and the navy said it was in control of the waters off the city, located 450 kilometers (280 miles) east of Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
and held by ISIS since June 2015.

ISIS has fed on the political and military divisions that have plagued Libya since the 2011 uprising that toppled and killed Qadaffy.

European nations fear that the turbans could use the city as a staging post for attacks on their soil.

Sirte port said to be captured

Tripoli, 10 June 2016:

The Bunyan Marsus operations room set up by the Presidency Council (PC) last month says that the area Harawa, 75 kilomtres east of Sirte has been taken from forces of the so-called Islamic State (IS) and the road to Sirte is also now in anti-IS hands. In a further statement it further claimed that IS was now trapped within a 5-kilometre around Sirte.

The day also saw air raids against IS positions in and around Sirte itself. There are also claims that Sirte port and a number of buildings in the town including the Mahari Hotel have fallen to Bunyan Marsous forces, and that the bodies of six executed IS fighters were discovered in the Saadi barracks, south of Sirte, captured earlier during the week.

It is impossible to verify the full extent of the claims at present.

However, Misrata Central Hospital reported that it had received the bodies of 11 fighters killed in the Sirte fighting today as well as treating 35 injured.

For his part, Faiez Serraj as head of the PC has congratulated the operations room for its successes again IS, noting also that the latter was trapped and its members faced death. He also called on other military forces, meaning those currently supporting Khalifa Hafter, to unite and join the battle against IS.

Meanwhile he also set up a third military operations room to lead action against IS south of Sirte. Led by Colonel Mohamed Ahmed Baheej, it will cover the area between Sirte and the Jufra region, centred on Waddan and Hun.

Although the Bunyan Marsous operations room claimed its forces had taken Harawa, it was those under the second operations room, set up at the beginning of the month, that did so. Comprising in large part the central region Petroleum Facilities’ Guard, they have been moving slowly towards Sirte from the east having taken Ben Jawad and Nufliya.

Kazakh President Blames Attacks on Radical Islamists
[An Nahar] Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev
...has served as the President of Kazakhstan since the Fall of the Soviet Union and the nation's independence in 1991. Contrary to commonly held belief, there is a difference between Kazakhs and Cossacks: Kazakhs have mustaches. Or maybe it's the other way around...
on Friday blamed radical Islamists for deadly shootings that left seven dead in the west of the oil-rich Central Asian state.

Seven people -- four civilians and three soldiers -- were killed after gunnies went on the rampage at gun shops and a military base in the city of Aktobe near the Russian border on Sunday.

"We already know that it was a terrorist attack by a group of followers of the non-traditional religious movement Salafism," Nazarbayev said in a televised meeting with the country's security council, referring to an ultra-conservative brand of Islam.

"While granting freedom of worship in the country, we also intend to deal a decisive blow to all those who, hiding behind religious slogans, upset the situation in the country."

Nazarbayev's comments came hours after security forces killed five more people suspected of perpetrating Sunday's attacks.

In total government troops claim to have killed 18 suspected attackers. Nazarbayev said "a few" of them were still in hiding and has vowed that all attackers would be strictly punished.

Police in Aktobe said Friday that they were still searching for three suspects.

Authorities had initially said that six people were killed in Sunday's attacks but later updated the casualty toll to seven after another civilian succumbed to injuries in the hospital.

Three PKK militants killed in İpekyolu
Three outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) militants were killed in a security operation in the İpekyolu district of the eastern province of Van on June 10.
Boy howdy, I'm going to have to break out my lavender calipers and a highly detailed map of yet another country...
Counter-terrorism police and intelligence units conducted an operation at a house in the Hacıbekir neighborhood, where militants were preparing an attack. Three PKK militants were killed in clashes after they responded with fire to security forces’ call for surrender.
Yup, the classic "Stop or we'll [BANG BANG BANG] shoot!" style raid...
Four PKK militants were also wounded in the operation and fled to a forested area near the scene.

Caribbean-Latin America
Mexico Gunmen Attack Family, Kill 11
[An Nahar] Gunmen marched into a remote mountain village in Mexico on Friday and killed 11 members of the same family, including two children, authorities said.

Five women, four men and two girls were killed in El Mirador, a community in central Puebla state, near Oaxaca, and the motive of the massacre was under investigation.

"Two other minors were badly maimed and taken to the hospital," said Vicente Lopez de la Vega, the mayor of the town of Coxcatlan, which oversees El Mirador.

The Puebla state prosecutor's office said in a statement that initial reports indicate that "people arrived on foot where the family was located, fired several times and left on foot."

Prosecutors said the two maimed children were also girls.

The statement did not specify where the family was during the attack.

A state government official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak publicly, said the attack took place inside one home.

But some local media said the bodies were found in several homes.

The prosecutor's office said two people witnessed the massacre and that both have been put under police protection.

The statement said more information would be available after authorities can communicate with Sherlocks, who are working in a remote region.

India-Pakistan
Where honour equals shame
[DAWN] ANY nation where some warped, twisted definition of honour sanctions the killing of a woman, even your own young daughter or sister, has demonstrably strayed away from every possible path of sanity.

Yes, our honour whether in the name of faith, tribal code, traditions, culture and/or whatever other reason you can think of somehow mainly targets women. We burn alive, hack to death, subject to acid attacks predominantly women. A woman can’t exercise her free will. One rarely hears of a man being targeted thus.

Where a constitutional forum, the Council of Islamic Ideology, routinely issues advisories about the status/role of women including instructing men in how to beat their wives ’correctly’, it would be naïve to expect anything better from many ordinary citizens blinded or bound by archaic codes, traditions and the sermons of the semi-literate preacher.
