Court overturns verdict in Chris Kyle - Ventura defamation case
Good. Throw this POS out
The U.S. Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals Monday overruled the jury that awarded $1.8 million to former Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura in a 2014 defamation case.

Ventura won the award against the estate of former Navy SEAL Chris Kyle, whose memoir "American Sniper" described an altercation between him and Ventura that the former governor said did not happen. Kyle's widow, Taya Kyle, appealed the jury's verdict, which came after a three-week federal trial in St. Paul in July 2014.

In a 2 to 1 decision, the appeals court threw out the $1.35 million awarded to Ventura for "unjust enrichment." It ordered the district court to conduct a new trial on the $500,000 defamation judgment in favor of Ventura.

Obama: '€˜We' are to blame, not Islamic terrorism, for massacre
Omar Mateen called the cops to pledge his fealty to ISIS as he was carrying out his mass murder in Orlando early Sunday. Twelve hours later, the president of the United States declared that "we have no definitive assessment on the motivation" of Omar Mateen but that "we know he was a person filled with hate."

So I guess the president thinks Mateen didn't mean it?

Here again, and horribly, we have an unmistakable indication that Obama finds it astonishingly easy to divorce himself from a reality he doesn't like -- the reality of the Islamist terror war against the United States and how it is moving to our shores in the form of lone-wolf attacks.

He called it "terror," which it is. But using the word "terror" without a limiting and defining adjective is like a doctor calling a disease "cancer" without making note of the affected area of the body -- because if he doesn't know where the cancer is and what form it takes, he cannot attack it effectively and seek to extirpate it.

So determined is the president to avoid the subject of Islamist, ISIS-inspired or ISIS-directed terrorism that he concluded his remarks with an astonishing insistence that "we need the strength and courage to change" our attitudes toward the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community.

That's just disgusting. There's no other word for it.
How about spineless and/or ignorant? Or maybe naĂŻve? Cowardly? I'm sure Zenobia could come up with a few words without even trying. :-)
America's national attitude toward LGBT people didn't shoot up the Pulse nightclub. This country's national attitude has undergone a sea change in the past 20 years, by the way, in case the president hasn't noticed.

An Islamist terrorist waging war against the United States killed and injured 103 people on our soil. We Americans do not bear collective responsibility for this attack. Quite the opposite.

The attack on the Pulse nightclub was an attack on us all, no less than the World Trade Center attack.

To suggest we must look inward to explain this is not only unseemly but practically an act of conscious misdirection on the president's part to direct out attention away from Omar Mateen's phone call.

True to form, the president spoke more words about the scourge of guns than about the threat of terror. In doing so, he actually retards rather than advances the cause of gun control he so passionately advocates.

A president totally and credibly committed to the destruction of ISIS and other terror groups seeking to bring the war to us might earn the political and moral capital to seek more extensive limits on gun ownership.

A president who cannot name the enemy even as he anthropomorphizes the weapon the enemy uses is a president unable to bring anyone to his side who's not already there.

To fight back against the evils of San Bernardino and Orlando, we do need change -- and fortunately for us, it's constitutionally mandated change. It's the change required by the 22nd Amendment -- the change that will compel Barack Obama to leave the White House on Jan. 20, 2017, after completing his second term with America less safe than it was when he took office.

Disgusted Owen Jones walks out of Sky News over bid to distance Orlando shooting from gay hate crime
He was told he should "delineate" between Islamist terror and homophobia after an attack killed 50 at gay Florida nightclub Pulse

Disgusted Owen Jones stormed out of Sky News after the presenter tried to distance the Orlando shooting from LGBT hate crime.

Mark Longhurst told the left-wing writer people should "delineate" between Islamist terror and homophobia after the attack which killed 50 at gay Florida nightclub Pulse.
Islam is very inclusive on topics regarding hate and intolerance.
That prompted a furious response from Mr Jones, who is gay and said the attack was both things at once.

And he threw up his arms in denial after Mr Longhurst told him "you cannot say this is a worse attack than what happened in Paris".

Eventually Mr Jones tore off his microphone and stormed off the set of the channel's nightly newspaper review, where he was appearing with talk radio host Julia Hartley-Brewer.

He won swift support from commentators and MPs including comedian Matt Lucas and Labour shadow minister Caroline Flint.

Veteran gay rights campaigner Peter Tatchell told the Mirror: "The line of questioning put to Owen Jones would never have been put to a black or Jewish person if one of their venues had been attacked in this way.

"I think the interviewer should sit down with people from the LGBT community to discuss our concerns. There was widespread anger in the LGBT community at that interview."

Labour MP Stella Creasy said she was "horrified" at Mr Jones' treatment while the SNP 's John Nicolson said the line of questioning was "utterly bizarre".

Saturday night's attack is the worst mass shooting in US history and has been described as the worst killing of LGBT people since the Holocaust.

It sparked fears the so-called Islamic State, which claimed responsibility for the attack, has begun targeting gay westerners it sees as 'deviants' after already killing many in brutal fashion in Syria.

#1  You can't ever pin the Left down to one principle or another. Their views are utterly ungrounded in anything save present advantage. We on the right tend to think in terms of guiding principles. As a result we commonly make the mistake of assuming the other side does the same. They don't. They talk about principles -- because they know that will help sell their message to us -- but they genuinely do not think that way.

Orlando bar shooter traveled to Saudi Arabia and UAE for religious pilgrimage
[Bus Insider] The Orlando nightclub gunman traveled to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates between 2011 and 2012 for the Muslim religious pilgrimage known as Umrah, CNN's Jim Sciutto reported Monday.

"Orlando shooter traveled to Saudi Arabia and UAE in 2011-12, US official tells me," Sciutto tweeted. "Saudi Arabia interior ministry adds that he went for the Umrah, the lesser religious pilgrimage that can take place any time of year."

The shooter, identified as Omar Mateen, killed 49 people at a gay nightclub in central Orlando early Sunday morning. Mateen called 911 sometime during his rampage and pledged allegiance to ISIS, mentioning the Boston Marathon bombers during the call.

The ISIS-affiliated news agency Amaq News broadcast a claim of responsibility from the terror group for the rampage late Sunday afternoon.

#1  He really got around:
Orlando gunman 'was a regular at gay nightclub Pulse' before attack
Chris Callen, who performs under the name Kristina McLaughlin and is married to Mr Smith, told the Canadian Press he had also seen Mateen there. “He’s been going to this bar for at least three years.”

Both Callen and Smith say they stopped speaking to Mateen after he threatened them with a knife, apparently after someone made a joke about religion.

“He ended up pulling a knife,” Callen said. “He said if he ever messed with him again, you know how it’ll turn out.”

Guess which Orlando bar was a "gun free zone."
[Breitbart] Pulse, the Orlando gay nightclub targeted in a jihadist terror attack, was a "gun-free zone" by state law.

Per Florida's concealed carry law, those with a license to carry may not carry their firearms into an establishment that serves alcohol.

The establishment was touted as "Orlando's hottest gay bay" on its website, providing patrons with an "unforgettable night of fun and fantasy." Domestic terrorist Omar Mir Seddique Mateen, a registered Democrat and Muslim from Port St. Lucie, killed 50 victims and wounded 53 more -- all of whom were prohibited from carrying weapons to defend themselves.

The state statute that covers the license to carry a weapon, Title XLVI Chapter 790, clearly states that guns are not permitted in bars

#3  The cops took 3 hours to get in there. While there's no excusing what the Muslim terrorist did, it appears that making sure every cop got to go home that day took precedence over saving lives.
Posted by: Zhang Fei || 06/13/2016 13:23 Comments || Top||

#4  Not sure that's entirely fair, Zhang. The cops did need to figure out what was going on, and there was a fair bit of rescue.

I do agree that in these situations it's likely better for the cops to go in as quickly as they can -- but we don't want them to charge into an ambush. Count on the ISIS mooks to figure out how to set that up.

Exactly, cops need to be cops, it's dangerous as hell sometimes, but you signed on the line, no special out. Uncle Charles would have blown thru the crowd and landed at least one slug on this POS, a shotgun slug. You take the Queens money and you take your chances.

Fed immigration boss blocked investigation in San Bernardino terror mooks
The federal bureaucrat who blocked armed law enforcement agents from apprehending a man involved in the San Bernardino terror attack last December, then allegedly lied to investigators about her actions, has been reassigned to another post, but likely won't face charges of treason and sedition further investigation, FoxNews.com has learned.

The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services supervisor who an Inspector General’s report did not name but blasted for keeping Department of Homeland Security agents from Enrique Marquez is Irene Martin, who, according to her Linkedin.com account, has been with the agency for at least 16 years, 13 years as a field supervisor.

Marquez and his Russian wife Mariya Chernykh were scheduled for an interview with Martin’s staff on Dec. 3, the day after Marquez’s friend Syed Rizwan Farook and his wife, Tashfeen Malik, killed 14 people at an office Christmas party. After the FBI learned Marquez allegedly supplied the guns, they sent five armed Homeland Security Investigation agents to the USCIS building to detain Marquez. Martin refused to allow the agents access to Marquez.

It is not clear what disciplinary action Martin could face,
This is the government. We can't discipline VA officials who allow veterans to die waiting for medical care. Take a guess what happens to Ms. Martin...
but the report last week faulted her for making agents wait more than 90 minutes before she gave them access to related files on the suspected terrorist, and then she dismissively ordered them to hand copy files, according to the federal report. Agents told building security they intended to arrest Marquez to prevent him from killing anyone, but Martin had them wait 30 minutes just to see her. When questioned by IG investigators later, Martin repeatedly changed her story and also contradicted what other witnesses said.
I think this is called, 'obstruction of justice'...
“We concluded that the USCIS Field Office Director at the San Bernardino office improperly delayed HSI agents from conducting a lawful and routine law enforcement action…” the report said. “We have also concluded that the Field Office Director was not candid with OIG investigators during her interview.”
I think this is called, 'lying'...
Jeff Carter, chief of media relations for USCIS, told FoxNews.com late Monday that "to his knowledge there is no further investigation into Martin," and her transfer become acting deputy district director was planned before the audit was released.
You got it -- not only was she not disciplined, she was promoted. Your federal government in action.
Martin, who formally oversaw San Bernardino and Riverside as well as Los Angeles counties, did not return emails to FoxNews.com. USCIS in California referred calls to its Washington headquarters, where officials refused to comment. However, experts and former law enforcement agents told FoxNews.com Martin’s actions amounted to obstruction of justice.

“The USCIS field director’s behavior was not only outrageous and reprehensible, but in violation of federal law and policy that ensure any law enforcement agency the ability to make arrests or conduct interviews in government facilities,” said Jessica Vaughan, of the Center for Immigration Studies, a Washington-based research institute. “I cannot imagine any possible excuse for her actions, and it is doubly concerning that she apparently lied to the investigators about what she did. She needs to be fired, not to mention prosecuted.”

Although Marquez was only a “person of interest” a day after the attack, authorities were frantically trying to track down anyone associated with Farook and Malik. Both Farook and Malik were killed by law enforcement after their morning attack.

“When agents show up to CIS for a criminal investigation, they should never be impeded. That is obstruction of justice,” said Claude Arnold, retired special agent in charge for ICE’s Los Angeles bureau of Homeland Security Investigations.

Martin is not named in the Inspector General report released June 1, but large portions of the 9-page report to Congress are dedicated to documenting the field supervisor’s actions. Internal sources confirmed Martin’s identity and the USCIS web site still lists her as the field supervisor.

“When interviewed by OIG, the field office director denied telling the agents they were not allowed to arrest, detain, or interview anyone in the building,” the report states. “However, her account is contradicted by that of the other HSI agents present.

“She also gave inconsistent answers about when she discovered that the HSI agents were investigating the shootings from the day prior….Either version is contradicted by the building security officer….”

Arnold said the allegations in the Inspector General’s report indicate criminality.

“It is pretty standard across the federal government that if someone engages in criminal misconduct related to their professional duties, it is also a removable offense,” he said.

The report notes Martin had no authority to hold up the agents who were justifiably concerned that Marquez and Chernykh may pose a threat to the occupants and visitors of the USCIS facility. Marquez, who is now in jail and awaiting trial on charges related to supplying the guns as well as marriage fraud, has pleaded not guilty.

Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Chairman Ron Johnson, R-Wisc., requested the IG investigation.

“The DHS was created to unify and improve coordinated efforts to defend our homeland. Refusing to allow armed ICE agents into a USCIS facility to detain a suspected terrorist just a day after a deadly terrorist attack is disturbing,” Johnson told FoxNews.com. “It is my hope that the DHS takes this incident seriously and improves its coordination so that something like this never happens again. The safety of all Americans depends on it.”

Abu Sayyaf kills second Canadian hostage
The Abu Sayyaf followed through today on its threat and killed Canadian captive Robert Hall as the deadline for paying $8-million ransom passed. Rebel spokesman Abu Raami said, "There is no extension. We have talked this over and over among our leadership and all decided no extension."

The terrorists had demanded P600 million for the release of Hall, Norwegian Kjartan Sekkingstad and Filipina Marites Flor. Hall had been held since Sept. 21, 2015 and is the second Canadian slain after John Ridsdel, who was killed in late April. There is no word on the fate of the remaining hostage Sekkingstad.

His execution comes after Prime Minister Trudeau repeated at the G7 summit in Japan that Canada will not pay ransoms to win the freedom of hostages.

The captives were seized by masked gunmen last September near Davao City and transported more than 500 kilometers west to Abu Sayyaf stronghold Jolo Island, where a bounty of more than $30 million was initially demanded for each of what were then four hostages.

A military offensive against Abu Sayyaf that began before Ridsdel's death on the same island in Mindanao where the Islamist group is believed to be holding the hostages has apparently stalled after initially retaking some lost territory.

Philippine president Rodrigo Duterte had a conversation with Trudeau in which Duterte said he apologized for Hall's abduction. Duterte is "the only person with the added leverage in Mindanao, through his connections with different rebel groups, to help the hostages. He has given Canada assurances that he will do his utmost to help the Canadian hostage," said political scientist Richard Heydarian of Manila's De La Salle University.

Britain
The British people have risen at last
h/t Instapundit
I think we are about to have the most serious constitutional crisis since the Abdication of King Edward VIII. I suppose we had better try to enjoy it.

If ‐ as I think we will ‐ we vote to leave the EU on June 23, a democratically elected Parliament, which wants to stay, will confront a force as great as itself ‐ a national vote, equally democratic, which wants to quit. Are we about to find out what actually happens when an irresistible force meets an immovable object?

I am genuinely unsure how this will work out. I hope it will only destroy our two dead political parties, stiffened corpses that have long propped each other up with the aid of BBC endorsement and ill-gotten money.

I was wrong to think that the EU referendum would be so hopelessly rigged that the campaign for independence was doomed to lose. I overestimated the Prime Minister ‐ a difficult thing for me to do since my opinion of him was so low. I did not think he could possibly have promised this vote with so little thought, preparation or skill.

I underestimated the BBC, which has, perhaps thanks to years of justified and correct criticism from people such as me, taken its duty of impartiality seriously.

Everything I hear now suggests that the votes for Leave are piling up, while the Remain cause is faltering and floundering. The betrayed supporters of both major parties now feel free to take revenge on their smug and arrogant leaders.

...If Zambia can be independent, why cannot we? If membership is so good for us, why has it been accompanied by savage industrial and commercial decline? If the Brussels system of sclerotic, centralised bureaucracy is so good, why doesn’t anyone else in the world adopt it?

ISLAMIST, COMMUNIST, NAZI: IDEOLOGIES OF HATE
h/t Instapundit
After last night’s murder of fifty people at a gay club in Orlando, politicians are rushing out their statements, most smart enough to avoid knee-jerk reactions blaming anyone but the shooter, and perhaps the group inspiring him, ISIS/ISIL/Daesh. Not all were so thoughtful.

I’m going to spare you my pledges of emotional solidarity with our gay brethren, or pious warnings not to blame Muslims in general for the hateful actions of a few. I’m going to assume you’re all adults and understand that ideologies and religions associated with mass murder -- Communism, Nazism, and recently the fundamentalist Islamist groups -- are all thought-viruses which prey on the susceptible. This is an assumption I may regret, since the topic is a minefield unless you stick to the mainstream channels of banal sentiment.

Was There More Than One Orlando Shooter?
[PalmBeachPost] Possibly salient quote from the article:
He said he heard another gun from a different direction, so he wonders if there were two gunmen.
There's also this, which seems odd:
“In a moment of desperation we were all crawling on the floor trying to find a place to exit. I looked to my right and I could see people going through some curtains. We were digging through the curtains and found a door.’’

But he said the door was blocked by a man. He wasn’t sure if it was a club security person or an accomplice to the gunmen.

“Fifty people were trying to jump over each other trying to exit the place. There was a guy holding the door and not letting us exit. He’s like ‘Stay inside, stay inside.’ As he is saying that, the shooter keeps getting closer and closer and the sound of the bullets is getting closer. Everyone starts to panic. People are getting trampled. Let us out, let us out!’’’

Gonzalez’ first thought was that it was a hate crime. “This guy is trying to prevent us from leaving. Maybe they’re working together,’’

Arabia
CIA Chief: Saudi Arabia set to be absolved of responsibility in 9/11 secret report
CIA chief John Brennan said he expects 28 classified pages of a U.S. congressional report into the September 11, 2001 attacks on the United States to be published, absolving Saudi Arabia of any responsibility.

'I think the 28 pages will be published and I support their publication and everyone will see the evidence that the Saudi government had nothing to do with it,' Brennan said in an interview with Saudi-owned Arabiya TV. His comments were dubbed into Arabic.

The withheld section of the 2002 report is central to a dispute over whether Americans should be able to sue the Saudi government, a key U.S. ally, for damages. The U.S. Senate passed a bill on May 17 allowing the families of September 11 victims to do so, setting up a potential showdown with the White House, which has threatened a veto.

Saudi Arabia denies providing any support for the 19 hijackers - most of whom were Saudi citizens - who killed nearly 3,000 people in the Sept. 11 attacks. Riyadh strongly objects to the bill.

Brennan called the 28-page section merely a 'preliminary review.'

'It was found later, according to the results of the report, that there was no link between the Saudi government as a state or as an institution or even senior Saudi officials to the September 11 attacks,' he added.

The Office of the U.S. Director of National Intelligence is reviewing the material to see whether it can be declassified.

Former U.S. Senator Bob Graham, who co-chaired the congressional inquiry into the attacks, said in April that the White House will likely make a decision sometime in June on whether it would release the classified pages.

fighters after a clearance operation in Gamboru-Ngala, Borno.

Col. Sani Usman, the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, said this in a statement in Maiduguri.

Usman said that two other suspects were captured alive by the troops during the operation.

"During the encounter, the troops killed 10 Boko Haram terrorists, captured two alive and rescued a woman with her baby held hostage by the terrorists," Usman said.

He said that the troops also recovered arms and ammunition during the exercise.

The army front man said items recovered included six AK-47 rifle magazines and 56 rounds of 7.62m (special) rounds of ammunition.

ISIS 'kill list' targets Palm Beach, Treasure Coast residents
A pro-Isis group has released a hit list with the names of more than 8,000 people -- mostly Americans.
But that wouldn't be enough "just cause" to get you a CCL in California these days...
More than 600-people live in Florida, and one security expert believes that many of those targeted live in Palm Beach County and on the Treasure Coast.

The "United Cyber Caliphate" that hacked U.S. Central Command, 54,000 Twitter accounts and threatened President Barack Obama is the same pro-Isis group that's reportedly created a "kill list" with the names, addresses and emails of thousands of civilian Americans.

Reports of the list came to light online when Vocativ reported the list was shared via the encrypted app, Telegram, and called on supporters to kill.

Former FBI agent-turned lawyer Stuart Kaplan says the threat is especially alarming, because the people on this list are civilians who don't have the security necessary to protect themselves.

"It's going to create some hysteria," he said.
In liberal enclaves, yes. It's going to create some grim determination in the heartland...
Kaplan is concerned the list will inspire "lone wolf" style attacks.

"If in fact a sympathizer gets ahold of this list and is readily able to identify you as being his neighbor and, then, decides (because they're a sympathizer) to go out and do something horrific to you, there is no way to calculate the potential or to prevent that."
There most certainly is, and people in the heartland will be making those calculations and preparing accordingly...
The list has not yet been made public.

Afghanistan
13 ISIS loyalists killed, 7 wounded in Nangarhar province
At least 13 loyalists of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) terrorist group were killed during the clearance operations in eastern Nangarhar province.

The Ministry of Defense (MoD) said at least 7 loyalists of the terror group were also wounded during the operations.

According to a statement by MoD, the operations were conducted in Achin and Deh Bala districts of Nangarhar with the support of the Air Force and Artillery units.

This comes as ISIS loyalists launched an attack on police headquarters of Haska Mina which left the district police chief dead along with 5 other policemen.

The Afghan forces have stepped up counterterrorism operations tageting the loyalists of the terror group amid concerns they are attempting to expand foothold in the country.

In the meantime, Afghanistan National Security Council (NSC) approved in principle the strategy to fight the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) terrorist group.

The National Security Council also instructed relevant institutions to take all necessary steps to hit and destroy the terror group in Afghanistan and prevent the terrorist activities of the group in the country.

Two Israeli teens hurt in E. Jerusalem rock-throwing
With Palestinian travel shut down and a massive troop presence on the streets because of the holiday, it's no wonder not much happened.
[IsraelTimes] Two Israeli teens were maimed late Sunday in a rock-throwing attack on a bus in East Jerusalem. According to Magen David Adom medics, the two, ages 16 and 18, were lightly hurt when thrown rocks smashed window panes, causing glass shards to hit their heads.

The Egged No. 3 line was traveling in the Wadi Joz area near Rockefeller Junction toward the Old City’s Western Wall holy site when it was attacked. The bus was reportedly packed with passengers. A few suffered from shock.

Earlier Sunday, an Israeli woman was lightly hurt when her vehicle was pelted with stones near Beit Anun in the southern West Bank.

On Sunday morning, an Israeli woman and her infant child were reportedly attacked by an Arab man in the Jerusalem neighborhood of French Hill, Channel 2 reported. The suspected assailant expeditiously departed at a goodly pace but was apprehended by Israeli security forces shortly thereafter at a checkpoint.

The victims’ conditions were not immediately reported.

India-Pakistan
Kashmir Korpse Kount
At least four Indian policemen were wounded, two of them critically, Sunday after militants attacked their vehicle in restive Indian-controlled Kashmir, Xinhua reported citing police. The attack was carried out near Qazigund town of Kulgam district, about 72 km south of Srinagar city, the summer capital of Indian-controlled Kashmir.

"This evening militants fired upon a police vehicle at village Bonigam here, wounding four policemen," a police official posted in Qazigund told Xinhua. "Of the wounded policemen, the condition of two was stated to be critical."

Police officials said the policemen were on a visit to the village in connection with some local dispute, when militants attacked them. The wounded policemen were immediately removed to nearest medical facility, wherefrom they were referred to Srinagar for specialized treatment.

"All the four policemen had rounds of bullet wounds but condition of two of them was critical," a health official posted at trauma hospital Qazigund said.

Police officials said the policemen also fired in retaliation following the attack and the exchange between the two sides continued for about five minutes.

Authorities rushed in police and paramilitary troopers to the village to nab militants. However, none was arrested until last reports came in. Reports said militants managed to flee from the spot after carrying out the attack.
As if they'd never been there...
This is the third militant attack in past nine days in the southern towns. Earlier this month militants attacked a convoy of Indian border guards in Bijbehara town killing three Border Security Force personnel and wounding nine others.

Subsequently on June 5, militants shot dead two policemen at bus station in Anantnag town.

Last month four policemen were killed in Srinagar and Pulwama and militants also snatched away two service rifles of the slain policemen.

A local commander of region's indigenous militant outfit -- Hizbul Mujahideen -- Burhan Wani in a video message has warned of intensifying attacks on policemen.

Mateen pledged allegiance to ISIS, al-Baghdadi
From the scrolling CBS News updates.
A U.S. intel source tells CBS News that Mateen called 911 during the shooting from the bathroom. They called him back and that is when he pledged alliance to ISIS and al Baghdadi.

The source says he made two foreign trips, one in 2011 to Dubai and one to Saudi Arabia in 2012.

He was not on a current watch list. He was on the Terrorist Screening database when the FBI was questioning him. Source tells CBS News he was removed when the FBI closed their investigation.

The 2013 investigation began when Mateen told co-workers and others he knew the Tsarnaev brothers.

FBI agent Ronald Hopper said Sunday that Omar Mateen had been interviewed in 2013 and 2014. Hopper said agents first investigated Mateen after he made inflammatory comments to co-workers alleging possible ties to terrorists. Mateen was interviewed twice and, when investigators were unable to verify the details of his comments, the FBI closed the probe.

In 2014, the agency looked into potential ties connecting Mateen to Moner Mohammad Abusalha, the first American to carry out a suicide attack in Syria. Like Mateen, Abusalha lived in Fort Pierce, Florida. Hopper says agents determined that contact was minimal and did not constitute a substantive relationship or a threat at that time.

Mateen was 29 years old and born in New York. The FBI says he referred to the Islamic State in a 911 call before the slayings.

US warbirds hit ISIS weapons caches in Mosul
[ARA News] DUHOK – US-led coalition’s warplanes on Sunday bombed a weapons storage centre and tactical units for the radical group of Islamic State (ISIS) near the city of Mosul in Iraqi’s northwestern Nineveh province.

A major ISIS weapons store in Mosul was hit with two airstrikes. “Subsequent to the raids, huge explosions took place inside the store where ISIS was keeping a large deal of ammunition and weapons,” media activist Abdullah al-Malla told ARA News in Mosul. “The weapons warehouse was destroyed completely.”

“At least 12 ISIS militants who have been guarding the warehouse were killed in the bombardment on Sunday,” al-Malla reported, citing an ISIS official.

The coalition’s air forces also hit ISIS positions the village of Haj Ali, destroying nine rocket launchers and two tactical units.

“The US-led fighter jets also targeted ISIS fighting positions in the Qayyara district in northwestern Iraq, killing and wounding over twenty militants,” Iraqi media activist Haydar al-Khalidi told ARA News.

The strikes coincided with clashes between the Kurdish Peshmerga forces and ISIS fighters in the Khazir district.

“The Peshmergas were able to push ISIS back in Khazir and retook several villages and farms in the district,” Peshmerga officer Izzaddin Wanki told ARA News. “This progress shows the key role of the Peshmerga in the ground operations against ISIS in Nineveh province. With the continuous support from the western coalition we may soon announce full liberation of the province from ISIS.”

Afghanistan
3 shot dead by Taliban militants in Logar
The Taliban militants have allegedly shot dead three sisters in the central Logar province of Afghanistan, local officials said Sunday.
The officials further added that the women were shot dead in Kharwar district of Logar as they were returning to their home.

Provincial governor’s spokesman Salim Saleh said four women had gone to a hill in a village and three of them were captured by the militants as they were returning from the area.

He said one of the women managed to flee the area which is totally under the control of the Taliban militants.

The victims have been reported to be between the age of 18 to 20 year old and the local officials are saying they had no issue with anyone.

The Taliban militants have not commented regarding the report so far.

Incidents involving violence against women are not new as numerous incidents are reported usually in various provinces of the country which are mainly due to domestic violence as well as violence by the militants trying the women on adultery charges.

The Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission (AIHRC) in its report released late in November last year said “statistic of violence against women, obtained from the registered cases of violence against women during the first six months in 1394 exceeds 2579 cases.”

The report further added that figure was reported 2403 cases during the six months in 1393 which shows 7.32 percent increase in 1394, the last solar year.

India-Pakistan
Pak-Afghan forces exchange fire at Torkham
PESHAWAR: Situation was again tense on Sunday at Torkham border crossing as Pakistani and Afghan forces exchanged fire over the contentious fencing issue.

"Afghan Security forces resorted to unprovoked firing on Pakistani side at Torkham Gate. A Pakistani soldier was injured due to Afghan firing," said the statement issued by Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The incident occurred at Shamshad mountain, near the border crossing, an official source told DawnNews.

The ISPR statement adds that, in order to check movement of terrorists through Torkham, Pakistan is constructing a gate on own side of the border as a necessity to check unwanted and illegal movement.

Earlier in May, the Torkham border crossing was reopened after Pakistan and Afghanistan reached an understanding to reopen it.

The decision to reopen the border crossing was made at a meeting between Army Chief General Raheel Sharif and Afghan Ambassador Omar Zakhilwal.

The previously unscheduled meeting was arranged as old irritants in the bilateral relationship — rows over border management and terrorism concerns — resurfaced ahead of the upcoming meeting of the Quadrilateral Coordination Group, a four-nation initiative for peace and reconciliation in Afghanistan.

Pakistan had closed the border crossing after Afghan authorities, who do not recognise the Durand Line as an international border, reacted to an attempt to fence the crossing for “controlling unauthorised cross-border movements”.

The move left thousands of people stranded on both sides of the border, besides halting the movement of cargo vehicles.

Niger, Chad to fight in Nigeria against Boko Haram
[NEWS24.NG] [NEWS24.NG] Niger's defense minister says his country and Chad will send troops to neighboring Nigeria to fight Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
myrmidons.

Hassoumi Massaoudou said late Thursday that the military deployment by the two countries is meant to secure their borders from Islamic myrmidons, who have staged several attacks in recent weeks in Niger, including one in Bosso that killed at least 26 soldiers.

He would not give more details on the number of soldiers, or their timing, but said they will remain in Nigeria's Borno state until the zone is secured.

PKK kills two soldiers, injures four in southeastern Turkey
Two soldiers have been killed while four others have been wounded in an attack by the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) on the Tekeli military base in the Şemdinli district of southeastern province of Hakkari. The soldiers were wounded as militants opened fire with long-barreled weapons at around 5:55 p.m. on June 10, an official statement by the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) said.

Four other soldiers were wounded in the attack, according to the military’s statement.

In a separate attack late on June 11, two PKK militants targeted a military recruitment center in the Kağızman district of the northeastern province of Kars with rocket launchers at around 1:20 a.m., security sources reported. The rocket missed the office building and landed nearby, the source said, adding that no casualties were reported. An operation has been launched to apprehend the terrorists who reportedly fled the scene after an ensuing gunfight.

Meanwhile, three men suspected to have links to a deadly bomb attack in the Vezneciler district in Istanbul that claimed the lives of 11 people on June 7 were remanded in custody on June 11. According to Istanbul’s Chief Prosecutor’s Office, one man identified as Eyyüp S. was remanded on charges of “premeditated murder” and of “being a member of a terrorist organization.” Two other men - Abdulsettar B. and Mehmet Nur K. - were remanded on charges of membership of a terrorist organization.

Raziq Warns Kandahar's Rich Against Funding Taliban
Kandahar police chief general Abdul Raziq on Sunday warned the wealthy in the province against paying their Zakat (charity) to the Taliban amid reports that businessmen, company owners and landholders were donating money to the Taliban and the Quetta Shura.

He said that the money paid to the Taliban as charity funds the insurgents war.

Raziq said that police will deal with those who do not abide by this in accordance with the law.

"The Taliban fuel their war machine from the money they receive from the people, therefore we call on wealthy people to stop raising money, otherwise the police will deal with such people according to the law," Raziq said.

He said that police in recent years have arrested dozens of the people for giving donations to the Taliban. But they were later released with the mediation of tribal elders.

He called on the tribal elders to help in this regard saying it will bolster security in the country.

"We detained dozens of people in connection with the issue, but they were later released after tribal elders intervened. We request the people to cooperate with police in this respect and to not allow Afghans to be killed with their own money," he said.

Meanwhile, people in the province have warmly welcomed the move, asking the rich to rather donate money to the needy instead of the Taliban.

"We extremely support the move by the police. This will improve security and we are ready to cooperate with the security forces in this respect," a Kandahar resident Shahid Khan said.

"We call on all the people of Afghanistan to cooperate in improving the security, we also demand the wealthy people help the needy and poor not the Taliban," another resident Ahmad Shah said.

Taliban are known to collect donations from Afghans across the nation.

The Bulldozer -- Captured ISIS Executioner
[VENTURESAFRICA] A member of the Chopping Committee of ISIS, popularly known as "The Bulldozer" has reportedly been captured by the Syrian Army. The masked Jihadist, who is usually dressed in black is responsible for several executions in the horrific ISIS videos. He was pictured lying half naked and writhing in pain on a truck that was driven by the Syrian troops.

Last month, ISIS published pictures of the Bulldozer beheading two suspected blasphemers in front of hundreds of men and young boys. Images show the terrorist leaping into the air before bringing the large sword crashing down onto the neck of his helpless victims. In a final picture, the bloody corpses of the headless men strewn across the courtyard as his fellow Lions of Islam disperse the gathered crowds.

How he got the nickname "Bulldozer"

In 2014, the ISIS executioner who weighs 127kg was pictured carrying a five foot long Browning machine gun which weighs 52kg. It was an unusual sight as the weapon which has been described as an anti-aircraft gun is usually mounted on fixed structures. He was immediately given the nickname after the release of this picture.

The Bulldozer has a range of tools for performing his duty. He has been recorded executing his victims with a three foot blade, a large piece of rock and a knife. Last month, in footage titled "Crush Your Enemies," Bulldozer hacks off the head of one prisoner with a knife, before placing the severed head on the corpse’s back. A second soldier was tied to a chair and repeatedly shot, while a third was murdered by having a large boulder dropped on his head.

Suspected to be an Iranian national, the Bulldozer’s real name is Mohammed Emwazi. Last year, he chopped off the hand and foot of a 14 ‐year old Syrian boy for refusing to join ISIS. He was also responsible for the execution of a 15-year old boy, whose only offence was listening to Western pop music.

When you're wounded and left on Afghanistan's plains,
And the women come out to cut up what remains,
Jest roll to your rifle and blow out your brains

Suicide bomber hits 50 km behind Misratan front line
Tripoli, 12 June 2016:

A suicide bomber reportedly driving an ambulance devastated a Misratan militia field hospital today, killing a doctor, an ambulance driver and two patients while injuring nine others.

The attacker was able to penetrate 50 kilometres behind the lines because it would appear checkpoints assumed he was ferrying wounded from the battlefield.

Paramedics and patients were among the wounded. Part of the field hospital, including the theatre, were wrecked. Ambulances waiting to ferry injured fighters back to Misrata were also seriously damaged.

Two other suicide attacks, using seemingly innocent vehicles, were launched at forces pressing into Sirte but reportedly caused no casualties.

While the fighting in Sirte today has seen no further dramatic advances after the fall of the port on Friday, there have been unconfirmed reports that senior IS leaders have been filtering through the Misratan lines and heading south. As of Thursday, it is understood that Libyan patrol craft have been sitting off Sirte in an operation designed to block any seaborne evacuation.

Misrata’s Military Council today ordered that no military units would be permitted to pass through the checkpoints into the city without its approval and that of military intelligence.

Meanwhile Brigadier Mohamed Al-Ghasri, the spokesman for the Bunyan Marsous operations room, told Alwasat that he could confirm British and US experts were helping with logistics and intelligence.

Ghasri later appealed for supplies of modern weaponry to combat IS snipers who, he was reported to say, had rifles that could hit targets two kilometres away. He may have been misquoted. The longest recorded sniper kill, by a US serviceman in Afghanistan, was 913 metres.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Syrian rebels delay Manbij operations
[ARA News] KOBANE – The SDF-led Manbij Military Council on Monday said that they have completely besieged the ISIS-held city of Manbij in northern Syria, but will wait with entering the city immediately to ensure the safety of civilians. Tens of thousands of civilians are trapped in the city, and ISIS does not allow them to leave to safety.

“After the Manbij Military Council [of the Syrian Democratic Forces] achieved several victories of the countryside and besieging the city completely, and controlling the supply routes of ISIS terrorists, and advanced plans to avoid endangering civilians, we assure that we will guarantee their safety,” the council said.

According to senior Kurdish official Ilham Ahmed, co-head of the Syrian Democratic Council, “Manbij is now surrounded, and the civilians now appeal to the SDF [Syrian Democratic Forces] to come and finish the oppression of ISIS.”

At least 69 ISIS fighters were killed in renewed clashes with SDF near Manbij.

“We heard that the terrorist organization of ISIS is holding civilians as hostage and using them as human shields, and we ask our people to avoid ISIS locations and places near the clashes. We are careful not to raid the city after its encirclement, because we are care about the safety of civilians,” the council said. “We follow international law, principles and standards, but we vow our people in Manbij that we will continue the operation by the name of martyr Faisal Abu Layla [top SDF commander killed in battle for Manbij] until we liberate Manbij and the countryside completely from ISIS,” the council said.

Speaking to ARA News, Kurdish official Idris Nasan said: “There are still 10,000 to 20,000 civilians inside Manbij, and there are more than 2,000 ISIS fighters. If they [SDF] enter Manbij now, they will lose a lot of fighters.”

“Moreover, this will hurt a lot of civilians, and the SDF don’t want to lose fighters or civilians, that’s why they are besieging Manbij city, cleaning the countryside and cut any chance of supplies for ISIS,” he said.

“They will intervene in a suitable time, but they will not rush it and enter from weak points until they control the entire city. Manbij is a big city, and not easy to control in 1 or 2 days,” Nasan added.

Meanwhile, heavy clashes continued in the vicinity of the Manbij grain silos near the village of Hamden–about 3 kilometers from the city of Manbij.

Moreover, the Kurdish Red Crescent set up a health centre in the town of Abu Qalqal, 12 kilometers from Tishrin dam, on the demand of the health committee of the Manbij civilian council to provide medical services to civilians in the liberated areas near Manbij city.

The US-led coalition against ISIS thinks that the operation to take the city will be difficult. “Manbij will be a big test. It will be one of the most strategic blows to ISIL [ISIS] yet because it is their hub of foreign fighters. It is their main kind of access route from Raqqa,” said US envoy Brett mcGurk. “And so I suspect they will fight for it. But we feel pretty good about the plan — not only the military plan, but importantly the post-ISIL plan.”

Home Front: WoT
Mateen had two wives: basic facts
Orlando terror attack gunman Omar Mateen was married to a 30-year-old woman, the mother of his young son, according to public records.

Mateen had lived in St. Lucie County, Florida, with his second wife, Noor Zahi Salman, but it is not clear if they were together or separated at the time of the shooting. Omar Mateen, 29, and Noor Zahi Salman, 30, have been married since at least 2013, according to a mortgage document. They have a 3-year-old son together.

The status of their relationship is not clear. The Washington Post reports that it appears Salman had left Mateen prior to the shooting. Salman did not respond to requests for comment from Heavy.com and also declined to speak to the Post.

Salman has lived in California and Illinois, and attended the now-defunct Heald College-Concord in California.

Little else is known about Salman, who has deleted her social media profiles, including her Facebook page, in the wake of the shooting.
Facebook may have banned Pam Geller but Ms. Salman, I'm sure, was in good standing...
Mateen was previously married to Sitora Yusufiy, a New Jersey woman, in 2009. Their marriage ended after only a few months when she left him. They were officially divorced in 2011.
That's the one featured in the story below.
In an interview with Heavy.com, Yusufiy said that she lived in Florida with Mateen between April 2009 and August 2009. She said that her parents then “rescued” her from the relationship and she never saw Mateen again. The divorce process took two years because of the long distance.

She posted a message to Facebook after the shootings, “Great Spirit I offer my deepest prayer and condolences to the victims of the Orlando shooting…May they transition in peace may their souls be healed, may the wounded victims recover and heal in peace, may the families and loved ones heal and find their peace….Archangel Michael Please protect us from suffering and the suffered…. Please protect us from hate, violence, anger and instability…. Amen.”

Mateen’s ex-wife, Sitora Yusufiy, who now lives in Colorado, said Mateen was abusive during their brief relationship.

“He was not a stable person. He beat me,” she told the Washington Post. “He would just come home and start beating me up because the laundry wasn’t finished or something like that…He seemed like a normal human being. He was a very private person.”

She said her parents “literally saved her life” when they rescued her from the Florida condo she shared with Mateen.

#5  We can go after the roots and the trees and the leaves--it doesn't have to be an either-or selection.

Further, we need to ridicule the *ideology* that intertwines them all. We must stop pulling our punches when it comes to talking of this backwards-ass "religion". The false-equivalence that we allow when comparing/contrasting Islam and Christianity must be shouted down (and not just by Christians). Even secularlists must surely see the difference between the two, and this tendency to pretend that "religion" is the problem in fact its ISLAM that is the problem must be shoved to the front of the public conversation.

Ideally, we could reason with them but you can't reason with people who want to kill you for it. But if you can't reason with them you can't live with them either unless you want to submit to them. They need to be ridiculed, isolated and suppressed until such time as they decide to be reasonable.

Omar's ex-wife was abused, terrified of him
The ex-wife of the 29-year-old man suspected of killing 50 people in a Orlando nightclub early Sunday said that he was violent and mentally unstable and beat her repeatedly while they were married.

The ex-wife said she met Omar Mateen online about eight years ago and decided to move to Florida and marry him. At first, the marriage was normal, she said, but then he became abusive.

“He was not a stable person,” said the ex-wife, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because she feared for her safety in the wake of the mass shooting. “He beat me. He would just come home and start beating me up because the laundry wasn’t finished or something like that.”

Mateen’s ex-wife said his family was from Afghanistan, but her ex-husband was born in New York. His family later moved to Florida.

Mateen’s ex-wife said she was having a difficult time when she first met him and decided to move to Florida to be with him. The two married in March 2009 and moved into a 2-bedroom condominium in Fort Pierce, Fla., that Mateen’s family owned.

“He seemed like a normal human being,” she said, adding that he wasn’t very religious and worked out at the gym often. She said in the few months they were married he gave no signs of having fallen under the sway of radical Islam. She said he owned a small-caliber handgun and worked as a guard at a nearby facility for juvenile delinquents.

“He was a very private person,” she said.

The ex-wife said her parents intervened when they learned Mateen had assaulted her. Her father confirmed the account and said that the marriage lasted only a few months. Her parents flew down to Fort Pierce and pulled her out of the house, leaving all her belongings behind. The ex-wife she said never had contact with Mateen again despite attempts by him to reach her.
Smart parents. That's what you have to do when your daughter is married to a crazy abuser -- get out, leave the stuff, and never, ever allow contact ever again.
“They literally saved my life,” she said of her parents.

According to Florida court records, the two formally divorced in 2011.

After learning about what happened in Orlando, she said: “I am still processing. I am definitely lucky.”

Omar Mateen was known to FBI
We're not connecting the dots, we're just shoving them really close together...
Omar Mateen of Port Saint Lucie, Florida, came to the attention of federal authorities twice prior to being identified as the gunman in the Orlando gay nightclub mass shooting, a senior law enforcement source told The Daily Beast.

Mateen killed 53 people and shot more than 100 in total at the Pulse gay nightclub early Sunday morning, in the deadliest mass shooting in modern American history.

The senior law enforcement source reports that Mateen became a person of interest in 2013 and again in 2014. The Federal Bureau of Investigation at one point opened an investigation into Mateen but subsequently closed the case when it produced nothing that appeared to warrant further investigation.

“He’s a known quantity,” the source said. “He’s been on the radar before.”

The senior law enforcement source told The Daily Beast that Mateen was born in New York and was married for a time to a woman from New Jersey. That woman told the Washington Post that he repeatedly abused her during their marraige, which lasted from April 2009 to July 2011.

“He was not a stable person,” the ex-wife said. “He beat me. He would just come home and start beating me up because the laundry wasn’t finished or something like that.”

Mateen's parent are from Afghanistan but he was not very religious, she said, adding that he "seemed like a normal human being."

Mateen's father Mir Seddique told NBC News that the sight of two men kissing angered his son.

“We are saying we are apologizing for the whole incident,” the father added. “We weren’t aware of any action he is taking. We are in shock like the whole country.”

The attack, he said, “has nothing to do with religion.” However, Pete Williams of NBC News reported that Mateen called 911 and swore his allegiance to al-Baghdadi of ISIS before the shooting massacre.
Apparently Omar and Daddy weren't close...
FBI Agent Ron Hopper told reporters Mateen may have had leanings toward Islamic extremism. The law enforcement source told The Daily Beast there is no immediate indication that Mateen had any direct connection to ISIS. Rep. Adam Schiff, the ranking Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, said Mateen had pledged allegiance to ISIS, according to officials from the Department of Homeland Security.

Mateen had a valid firearms license in Florida and worked as a security guard at a facility for juvenile deliquents.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Powerful explosion near bank in Beirut
A blast caused by a bomb rocked the western part of the Lebanese capital late Sunday, with the interior minister saying a major bank had been targeted.
Might be nothing more than a bank robbery, Middle Eastern style...
An AFP correspondent saw almost all the entire glass facade of a branch of Blom Bank, one of the country's largest, blown out, with debris littering the ground.

Interior Minister Nuhad Mashnuq told AFP that a bomb containing about 3-4 kilos of explosives had been "placed behind the back wall of Blom Bank".

"It is clear that the bank was the target," he said.

Mashnuq gave no further details, but in comments to LBCI television channel he said the blast was "different" from other explosions that have occurred in Lebanon over the past few years. He said there were "no victims", but a civil defence official said one person had been lightly wounded.

Blom Bank director general Saad Al Azhari told reporters that no threats had been received by the bank.

There was confusion over where the bomb had been placed. Lebanon's National News Agency reported that the explosive device had been left under a car, but police chief General Ibrahim Basbous said it had been put in a plant pot.

The AFP correspondent also saw damaged cars near the scene of the blast in the Verdun business district before an army patrol arrived and kept reporters back.
Update from An Nahar at 11:00 a.m. ET:
Report: Iranian Threats Preceded BLOM Bank Blast

The explosion that rocked Beirut Sunday evening and that targeted the HQ of BLOM Bank, was preceded by a series of “threat” messages the most recent was a report published by the Iranian Fars News Agency, al-Mustaqbal daily reported on Monday.

The message enclosed warnings attributed to a figure associate of Hizbullah against the banking sector in Lebanon, it said.

The Iranian News Agency's report was published only two hours prior the explosion and it included a clear threat that Hizbullah is ready to put into implementation a plan similar to the “May 7” incidents in 2008, that brought the country to the brink of a new civil war.

In 2008, Gunmen belonging to Hizbullah and its allies swept through Beirut’s neighborhoods after the government of then PM Fouad Saniora tried to dismantle the group's telecommunications network. The fighting left scores dead and wounded.

Mustaqbal added “it is clear that there is a close link between the message intended from the bank blast and the mounting tension between Hizbullah and the banking sector after the U.S. sanctions against the party.”

But sources of Lebanon's Central Bank told the newspaper that “the message will not work because the banking sector has no option but to implement the U.S. and International laws.”

Saad Azhari, the head of BLOM bank, said no one should jump to conclusion as to who was behind the attack.

“We are interested in being a serious bank that serves the interests of all (Lebanese). We don't take measures to harm any one particular group," he told reporters at the scene of Sunday's blast in the Verdun area.

The blast preceded several fervent statements against Lebanon's banking sector, particularly when the Fars News Agency assured that the “confrontation has become inevitable between Hizbullah and the banks,” it said.

The report expressed dismay at the stance of the Central Bank Governor Riad Salameh when he said that Lebanon cannot but abide by the U.S. laws. The report voiced threats against Salameh and said that “abiding by the US law is gravely endangering the banking sector.”

A U.S. law was voted in December by the Congress and it imposes sanctions on banks that deal with Hizbullah.

In May, Lebanon's central bank instructed the country's banks and financial institutions to comply with the U.S. law.

Washington has labeled Hizbullah a global terrorist group since 1995, accusing it of a long list of attacks including the bombing of the U.S. Embassy and Marine barracks in Lebanon in 1983.

Home Front: WoT
Co-worker: Omar Mateen homophobic, 'unhinged'
Hat tip Instapundit.
A former Fort Pierce police officer who once worked with 29-year-old Omar Mateen, the assailant in an Orlando nightclub shooting that left at least 50 dead, said he was "unhinged and unstable."

Daniel Gilroy said he worked the 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. shift with G4S Security at the south gate at PGA Village for several months in 2014-15. Mateen took over from him for a 3 to 11 p.m. shift.

Gilroy, a former Fort Pierce Police officer, said Mateen frequently made homophobic and racial comments. Gilroy said he complained to his employer G4S Security several times but it did nothing because he was Muslim. Gilroy quit after he said Mateen began stalking him via multiple text messages — 20 or 30 a day. He also sent Gilroy 13 to 15 phone messages a day, he said.

"I quit because everything he said was toxic," Gilroy said Sunday, "and the company wouldn't do anything. This guy was unhinged and unstable. He talked of killing people."

Gilroy said this shooting didn't come as a surprise to him.

PGA Village resident Eleanora Dorsi, however, recognized Mateen's face as a friendly one who guarded her gated community in western Port St. Lucie.

"Whenever I saw him, he was very polite," Dorsi said Sunday from her summer home in Connecticut. "He was always a gentleman."

Dorsi, who has lived in the community since 2011, estimatesd she saw Mateen a dozen times through the years, but he left a big impression on her because of his chivalry, she said.

"He even helped me with the car once, so I can't say he was creepy," she said.

Mateen helped her work the windshield cleaning function in her new car one time, she said.

Dorsi frequently gave Mateen and other guards at PGA Village pizza, cookies and candy for their hard work, she said. The last time she saw Mateen was a year ago, Dorsi said.

"He was always smiling and just seemed like a very nice, positive person," Dorsi said.

It sent chills down Dorsi's spine to imagine the man charged with keeping her and other locals safe carried out the deadliest mass shooting in the nation's history, she said.

"You would never ever think that he would have done anything like this," Dorsi said.

"Scary, scary. Very scary. I think everyone feels like that right now," she added. "It hits too close to home."
The media can't let the man be seen as evil, so they find a little old lady at the golf course villa to put in a good word. I know the world and people are complex, but this guy certainly does seem to be evil, and anything "nice" he did was part of the face he maintained until he could act on his rage.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
El Chapo to be tried in Brooklyn
In the nationwide sweepstakes among federal jurisdictions to put Mexican drug kingpin and escape artist Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman on trial, the place currently leading the pack is far from the border: Brooklyn.
If he ever arrives in the U.S., which I doubt will happen...
Justice Department officials in Washington still aren't commenting on the closely watched decision involving seven prosecutor's offices that have indicted Guzman on drug conspiracy and other charges over the past two decades.

But two law enforcement officials familiar with the process told The Associated Press that it's likely that if transferred from Mexican to U.S. custody in the coming months, Guzman would be sent to the Eastern District of New York in Brooklyn. The two officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they weren't authorized to publicly discuss the decision.

Brooklyn, an office once run by Attorney General Loretta Lynch, has long been rumored to be the front-runner while Guzman has been vigorously fighting extradition, an effort that could drag out indefinitely.

His apprehension, along with Mexican authorities' decision to transfer him to a jail just across the border from El Paso in Ciudad Juarez, renewed speculation about a possible U.S. prosecution in one of the seven districts — Brooklyn, Manhattan, Chicago, Miami, San Diego, El Paso and New Hampshire. U.S. indictments in those cities accuse him of overseeing a drug empire that poisoned American streets by smuggling countless tons of cocaine, heroin and marijuana via tunnels or secret compartments in cars, trucks and rail cars.

In a move seen as aimed at smoothing the path to extradition, prosecutors in Brooklyn quietly revised their indictment last month to drop more than a dozen death-penalty eligible accusations of specific murders by his henchmen in Mexico, while preserving murder conspiracy charges that could still result in a life sentence. Around the same time, Mexico's foreign ministry said it had sought and received "sufficient guarantees" from U.S. officials that Guzman wouldn't be executed.

Only San Diego — the first to indict Guzman in 1996 — and El Paso have made formal extradition requests. But behind the scenes, it's likely that prosecutors from all seven districts have lobbied the Justice Department to land Guzman, in some cases traveling to Washington to lay out what they see as the strengths of their cases.

Their higher-ups would look to pick the one "that has the best chance to win and put Chapo in prison for the rest of his life," said Jodi Avergun, a former federal prosecutor in Brooklyn who has held various high-level positions at the Justice Department. "They know they only have one shot at this."

In Chicago — where a non-governmental crime commission has dubbed Guzman the first Public Enemy No. 1 since Al Capone — prosecutors bring to the table a case against Guzman that includes the cooperation of twin brother traffickers who recorded a phone call with the kingpin in 2008 negotiating the price of a shipment of heroin. The U.S. Attorney's office there also has secured the extradition and convictions of more than a half dozen of El Chapo lieutenants.

Weighing heavily in Brooklyn's favor is vast experience prosecuting international drug cartel cases, Avergun said. Starting in the 1990s, the office has built several complex cases strong enough to convince distant governments in Asia and South America to extradite defendants now serving lengthy sentences in US prisons.

Prosecutors in Brooklyn "have the sophistication to do this," she said. "They've been doing it forever."

There's also the strong possibility that prosecutors from two or more districts with the best witnesses and evidence against El Chapo would team up to bring the case in a single location like Brooklyn, she added.

Whether Guzman will turn up in the United States anytime soon is uncertain. On paper, he is fighting extradition with appeals. But news reports out of Mexico have suggested he may be open to come to the United States in hopes of a plea deal that would rescue him what he claims are abusive conditions in his current lockup. One of his lawyers has said the decision would be "an act of desperation."

El Chapo, the attorney said, "has reached his limit."

Speaking personally, I had no idea the ANC said things like that, but it really isn't surprising. Jew-hatred is common currency among communists of all stripes, another mark if the shallowness of their thinking. Nor does that make them any more evil than they already were. And, as to the ANC Jews are merely more of the white people they hate and want to kll off, I really don't see what difference it makes that they said this thing.

Terror Networks
The Beatings Will Continue: Iraqi and Syrian Edtions
ISIS executes 19 of its elements for desertion in battlefield

(IraqiNews.com) al-Anbar – An informed source in Fallujah said on Sunday, that the so-called ISIS had executed 19 of its elements on charges of deserting the battlefield in the area of al-Shuhada.

The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said in a statement obtained by IraqiNews.com, “The ISIS terrorist gangs executed 19 of its elements who fled from the last battles against the security forces in the neighborhoods of al-Shuhada and al-Nassaf in central Fallujah,” adding that, “This came through the issuance of the so-called [ISIS] legitimate court a death sentence against [them].”

The source explained, “The execution was carried out by firing a bullet into the head.”

200 civilians arrive to Iraqi Kurdistan after escaping ISIS in Fallujah

[ARA News] KIRKUK – The Kurdistan Region of Iraq has received more than 200 Arab civilians who have escaped the mounting violence in Fallujah city, where fighting continued between the Islamic State (ISIS) and Iraqi forces, officials said on Monday.

“The Kurdish Peshmerga forces secured the entrance of more than 200 Iraqi civilians into the Kurdistan Region in the weekend. Those people have escaped Fallujah looking for a safe haven, and Kurdistan as always opened its doors to shelter the displaced,” Peshmerga official Izzaddin Wanki told ARA News in Kirkuk.

The source added that most of the displaced were women and children, and they were registered by the Peshmerga at the Makhmur district in northern Iraq, before being transferred to camps in the Kurdistan Region.

“Dozens of people arrive to the Peshmerga security checkpoints around the Kurdistan Region everyday, after fleeing ISIS-held Iraqi areas, looking for shelter. Our forces are more than happy to help those civilians and assist them to find a safe haven away from ISIS atrocities,” the Peshmerga official said.

“We are aware of the deteriorating humanitarian conditions in areas under ISIS control. Eliminating this terror group would bring peace to the entire region, that’s why we are determined to continue fighting ISIS alongside with our allies until liberating all Iraqi areas occupied by the group,” Wanki told ARA News.

ISIS troops raped dozens of wimmin in Manbij

[ARA News] ALEPPO – Extremists of the Islamic State (ISIS) have raped dozens of Syrian women in the countryside of Manbij in the northern Aleppo province, local sources and activists reported on Monday.

Before their withdrawal from the countryside of Manbij under heavy bombardment by the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), ISIS jihadis broke into civilians’ houses in dozens of villages around Manbij, killing the men and raping the women.

“Over more than two years of their control over Manbij, ISIS jihadis were generally careful with their behaviour towards the people in a bid to gain popular support. However, since the SDF troops started their campaign and made gains against the Islamic State, the group’s members in Manbij started punishing civilians collectively after accusing them of supporting the US-backed SDF,” media activist Nassir Taljbini told ARA News in Manbij.

“They have killed hundreds of men and raped dozens of women in the past few days, especially in the western countryside of Manbij, before withdrawing from most of the villages there,” Taljbini reported.

One of the victims who spoke to ARA News under the name Um Mohamed said that ISIS militants broke into their house, killed her husband and raped her and her two daughters. “They entered the house like barbarians. They shot my husband and raped me and my daughters. We’re still in shock after what happened. I have nothing to say to describe it… a nightmare,” she said.

Eyewitnesses told ARA News that ISIS militants also burned a number of houses in Manbij western villages before withdrawing.

“It was like an act of revenge against the people of the area,” a villager of Oum Mayyal said, speaking on condition of anonymity.

The Syrian Democratic Forces have liberated about 90 villages in Manbij countryside over the past weeks. The fighting has now moved to the city of Manbij, the last stronghold of ISIS in the district.

Muslim immigration to US on increase
Apparently we're becoming more European. Look at how we're copying the French. I can't predict the future but one could wonder if we're going to manage our immigration any better than the Europeans have managed theirs...
Between 2001 and 2013, the U.S. permanently resettled nearly 30,000 Afghan migrants on green cards. According to Pew, nearly all Muslims in Afghanistan (99%) support sharia law as official law.

As legal immigrants, these migrants will be granted lifetime resettlement privileges will be given automatic work permits, welfare access, and the ability to become voting citizens.

Between 2001 and 2013, the United States permanently resettled 1.5 million Muslim immigrants throughout the United States.

In the next five years, without changes to our autopilot visa dispensations, the U.S. will permanently resettle a Muslim population larger than the entire population of Washington D.C.

Immigration from the Middle East is on the rise. Based on 2014 data–the most recent available data from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS)– the number of green cards issued to Middle Eastern countries increased by 32 percent. The number of green cards issued to Afghan migrants increased by 379 percent in the course of that single year.

Hillary Clinton has made clear that under a Clinton Presidency, these numbers will grow substantially higher. Based on the minimum numbers Clinton has put forth thus far, the U.S. will resettle 730,000 permanent migrants from the Muslim world during her first term alone.

The Tampa Tribune reported last year that Florida now leads the nation as the number one state in resettling refugees.

According to the federal government, Florida resettled 43,184 refugees in 2013. While most of these refugees settling in Florida arrive from Cuba, many arrive from Middle Eastern countries. According to the U.S. Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the next largest countries to resettle in Florida are (in order) Iraq, Myanmar (Burma), the Democratic Republic of Congo, Sudan, Somalia, Colombia, Afghanistan, Jordan, Pakistan, Syria, and Palestine.

According to data from the Office of Refugee Resettlement, 91.4 percent of recent refugees from the Middle East are on food stamps and 68.3 percent of recent refugees from the Middle East are on cash welfare.

The Tampa Tribune reported that many of these Muslim refugees are carving out their own Muslim communities within Florida (similar to what refugees have done in Dearborn and Minneapolis): “Many of the refugees finding homes in the Tampa Bay area are Muslim because the region has an established Muslim community.
Immigrants generally do this. It wasn't all that long ago that Chicago had ethnic enclaves for Italians, Slavs, Poles, Bohemians, Chinese, and so on. For the most part we had a melting pot back then and so over time most of the immigrants became "American". Apparently it's "racist" even to consider a melting pot and that kind of Americanization these days.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Iran to sue US for asset seizure
Iran is going in a few days to file a suit in the International Court of Justice (ICJ) against the United States for its seizure of Iranian assets, Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif told the Parliament today.
Sue? You mean Champ didn't just roll over and send Kerry to Tehran with a bag of cash?
"We will use the occasion to show to the world how the US violates rules," Fars news agency quoted Zarif June 12.

Iran's President Hassan Rouhani on June 2 instructed the Foreign Ministry to implement a legislation passed by the parliament, committing the government to claim compensation from the US.

The decision by the Iranian parliament came after a US court ruled on April 20 that $2 billion of Iranian assets frozen in a US bank account had to be turned over to the families of the American victims of a 1983 bombing in the Lebanese capital of Beirut, and other attacks blamed on Iran.

The confiscated money belongs to the Central Bank of Iran (CBI). The assets had been previously blocked under the US sanctions.

Africa Subsaharan
Dozens of Nigerian army officers fired over corruption
[THEOLYMPIAN] Nigeria is firing dozens of senior officers accused of corruption and the theft of billions of dollars meant to buy arms to fight the Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
Islamic insurgency, the army and an officer privy to the list said Saturday.

The officer said more than 50 officers have been sacked. He spoke to The News Agency that Dare Not be Named on condition of anonymity because the matter is sensitive and he was not authorized to speak publicly.

Army front man Col. Sani Kukesheka Usman said only that "quite a number" were sacked Friday, mainly major generals, brigadier generals, colonels, lieutenant colonels and one major.

Some already have been handed over to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for allegedly diverting billions meant to buy weapons, Usman said in a statement.

Others were found to have played partisan roles in the 2015 elections in the south of the country that favored former President Goodluck Jonathan
... 14th President of Nigeria. He was Governor of Bayelsa State from 9 December 2005 to 28 May 2007, and was sworn in as Vice President on 29 May 2007. Jonathan is a member of the ruling People's Democratic Party (PDP). He is a lover of nifty hats, which makes him easily recognizable unless someone else in the room is wearing a neat chapeau.Other than that he's pretty useless as the Boko Haram debacle shows..
. He lost to former military dictator Muhammadu Buhari, who made fighting endemic corruption and Boko Haram a cornerstone of his campaign.

Usman did not name those fired.

Among officers on trial for corruption are two former chiefs of defense staff. The more recent chief, Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh, is in court for allegedly stealing some $20 million to build a shopping mall and buy other property in Abuja, the capital.

Also on trial is the former national security adviser, retired Col. Sambo Dasuki, who said he diverted $2.1 billion on Jonathan's orders to bribe officials to win Jonathan his party's presidential nomination. The entire annual military budget is about $6 billion.

Buhari blamed corruption for failures to curb Boko Haram and blamed those involved for the deaths of an unknown number of civilians and troops in the uprising that has killed more than 20,000 in six years.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Man with weapons, explosives arrested, was going to L.A. gay pride parade
Authorities in Santa Monica found possible explosives as well as weapons and ammunition Sunday in the car of a man who told them he was in town for the L.A. Pride festival in West Hollywood, a law enforcement source said.
From other stories on the web tonight (Sunday), it looks more and more like the perp is a stupid, disturbed young man and not an ISIS-wannabe. 48 hour rule until we know.
Early Sunday, Santa Monica police received a call of a suspected prowler near Olympic Boulevard and 11th Street. Patrol officers responded and encountered an individual who told officers he was waiting for a friend. That led officers to inspect the car and find several weapons and a lot of ammunition as well as tannerite, an ingredient that could be used to create a pipe bomb.

The car had Indiana plates. The man, was was arrested, made comments that he was in town for the Pride event in West Hollywood this weekend.
He wasn't, however, planning to march...
The source said they believed there was no connection between the gay nightclub shooting in Orlando, Fla., early Sunday morning and the Santa Monica incident.
They don't know that.
The investigation has been taken over by the FBI.
Which means we're not going to hear very much more.
The source said the man appeared to be white.

Authorities said the arrest occurred at 5 a.m. The suspect told authorities he was looking for a friend at the festival, said acting L.A. County Undersheriff Neal Tyler. The suspect is being questioned and authorities were trying to find the person he said he was looking for, he said.

Santa Monica Police spokesman Saul Rodriguez confirmed that the suspect was from Indiana and that weapons were found in the car, but added that police “were not aware of what the suspect’s intentions were at this point.”

Neighbors called police after he was spotted knocking on doors and “loitering in the area,” Rodriguez said.

Santa Monica Police were searching the suspect’s White Acura on Sunday morning near the intersection of 11th Street and Michigan Street where the arrest was made. All four of the car’s doors were open, and a drab green blanket, red gasoline canister and sever other smaller items were being piled on the sidewalk next to it.

A city official in West Hollywood also confirmed the arrest and stressed that officials were beefing up security at the gay pride event.

"They found him with weapons that were very disconcerting," said the source, adding officials are "taking the appropriate safety precautions."

The parade comes hours after the attack at the Orlando club that killed 50 people. One source in West Hollywood said there was discussion of calling off the parade but that officials decided to go forward, with heavy security including undercover officers in the crowd.

West Hollywood City Councilwoman Lindsey Horvath said in a statement that Los Angeles County sheriff’s officials are stepping up security efforts around Sunday’s parade and other festivities. But she said officials do not believe there is any threat around Sunday’s activities.

“We are hearing absolutely devastating news reports from Orlando this morning,” she said. “Gun violence on the LGBTQ family during Pride Month makes me sick. The deadliest mass shooting in America happened to LGBTQ people on Latin night. While we mourn this heartbreaking loss, we must also rededicate ourselves to the fight for full equality for all people. No one is equal unless everyone is equal.”

#1  Man With Possible Explosives And Long Rifle Update: Had Prior Arrest For Threats, May Be Gay…Update: Friend Confirms Suspect Has Male Partner…

OK, so he had weapons and was in town for the L.A. Pride Festival.

He is something of a Goof, but, sans incriminating developments, the jump to a possible assault on Festival attendees is, at best, circumstantial (imho).

Facebook Deletes Pamela Geller’s ‘Stop Islamization Of America’ Page After Orlando Attack

Funny I found out about her on Israeli Media right on time with things 12 years ago or somewhere abouts.

Sounds loony or is played to be looney, yet is the world at large, even if she "begged" for trouble.

#4  If I were the director of intelligence for a repressive, dictatorial regime I would mandate Facebook accounts be established at birth, with biometric photo and voice updates every five years. The Facebook data base would be the first stop for medical and gov't benefits, taxes, education, employment, financial assistance, foreign and domestic travel, visa and foreign visitor entry.

Do to the large volume of information collected, a massive 'Data Center' would be constructed. A remote, climate and employee friendly site would be ideal. Citizen, non-citizen, and duel-citizen accounts would facilitate the ease of sorting and retrieval.

At one's death and upon final IRS transfer approval, the accounts would automatically be migrated for archival to 'ancestry.com' via an established GSA contract.

Shaboobs attack Army base outside Marko
Al Shabaab fighters have staged a massive attack on a military base belonging to Somali National Army (SNA) which locates outside the southern port city of Marko, 120Km south of Mogadishu.

Fighting has erupted at SNA outpost, 8 kilometers away from Marko after Al shabaab fighters and Govt troops have engaged in a fierce gunfire that last for several hours on Sunday morning.

The commanders of the Somali federal government troops at the raided base say they repulsed and fought off the Al shabaab attack. However, there were immediate reports of the casualties on both sides.

Al shabaab has stepped up attacks in Somalia, targeting army bases, hotels and government installations in Mogadishu and elsewhere in the country as Muslims fasting Holy month of Ramadan.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Tehran: BP ready to invest in Iranian oil fields
BP has expressed readiness to invest in development of certain Iranian oil fields, Rokneddin Javadi, Iran's deputy oil minister, said.

Talks with the British company are underway for cooperation in oil fields' development, boosting recovery rate at old fields, and research projects, Javadi said, Mehr news agency reported June 11. The two parties are also negotiating to resume Iran's crude oil sale to the company, Javadi, who heads the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), said, adding no agreement has been reached on the issue yet.

BP also has expressed readiness to reopen its office in Iran, Javadi said, forecasting that the British firm's office will resume its activities in Tehran in summer.

BP and NIOC jointly share the Rhum gas field in the North Sea with an equal share distribution of 50 percent. According to the estimates provided by BP, the Rhum field contains 800 billion cubic feet of gas and accounts for about 4 percent of the UK's annual gas production.

Operations were suspended at the field in November 2010 after the EU introduced sanctions against Iran. Since the sanctions were lifted in January, Iran has increased the crude oil export to 2.2 million barrels per day aiming to redeem its previous place in the world market.

Iran's oil output also reached 3.5 million barrels per day in April, according to the OPEC.

Mateen's father hosted TV show, was Taliban supporter
The only thing that surprises me is that WaPo is reporting this.
The father of Omar Mateen, identified by police as the man behind the carnage at an Orlando nightclub early Sunday morning, is an Afghan man who holds strong political views, including support for the Afghan Taliban. In a video he posted on Saturday, he appears to be portraying himself as the president of Afghanistan.

Seddique Mateen, who has been referred to as Mir Seddique in early news reports, hosted the “Durand Jirga Show” on a channel called Payam-e-Afghan, which broadcasts from California. In it, the elder Mateen speaks in the Dari language on a variety of political subjects. He doesn't always make much sense.
Oh, the comments we could make...
Dozens of videos are posted on a channel under Seddique Mateen's name on YouTube. A phone number and post office box that are displayed on the show were traced back to the Mateen home in Florida. Mateen also owns a nonprofit organization under the name Durand Jirga, which is registered in Port St. Lucie, Fla.
Funneling money back to the Taliban chapter of the Widows Ammunition Fund?
In one video, Mateen expresses gratitude toward the Afghan Taliban, while denouncing the Pakistani government.

“Our brothers in Waziristan, our warrior brothers in [the] Taliban movement and national Afghan Taliban are rising up,” he said. “Inshallah the Durand Line issue will be solved soon.”

The “Durand Line issue” is a historically significant one, particularly for members of the Pashtun ethnic group, whose homeland straddles the border between Afghanistan and Pakistan. The Durand Line is that border. It is not clear whether the Mateens are Pashtun. The Afghan Taliban is mostly made up of Pashtuns.

The line was drawn as a demarcation of British and Afghan spheres of influence in 1893. The British controlled most of subcontinental Asia at the time, though some parts, including what is now Afghanistan and northwest Pakistan, were only loosely held. The line was inherited as a border by Pakistan after its independence. Since it splits the Pashtun population politically, it is seen as a cause for their marginalization. Pashtuns are the largest ethnic group in most of eastern Afghanistan and northern Pakistan.
And we couldn't ever have a bout of international common sense that would simply move the line, or create a Pashtun state, now could we...
Just hours before the Orlando shooting, Seddique Mateen posted a video on a Facebook page called Provisional Government of Afghanistan — Seddique Mateen. In it, he seems to be pretending to be Afghanistan's president, and orders the arrest of an array of Afghan political figures.

"I order national army, national police and intelligence department to immediately imprison Karzai, Ashraf Ghani, Zalmay Khalilzad, Atmar, and Sayyaf. They are against our countrymen, and against our homeland," he says, while dressed in army fatigues.

The most recent video on Mateen’s YouTube channel shows him declaring his candidacy for the Afghan presidency. The timing of the video is strange, as it came a year after presidential elections were held in Afghanistan. Mateen appears incoherent at times in the video, and he jumps abruptly from topic to topic. His use of Dari, instead of Pashto, the language of Pashtuns, was another strange element of his presentation, given that he is discussing issues of Pashtun nationalism.

On Sunday morning, Mateen told NBC News that his son’s rampage “has nothing to do with religion.”
Neither does the Taliban...
Instead, he offered another possible motive. He said his son got angry when he saw two men kissing in Miami a few months ago. He said his son was especially enraged because the kissing took place in front of his own young son.

“We are saying we are apologizing for the whole incident. We weren’t aware of any action he is taking. We are in shock like the whole country,” Mateen said.

Mateen could not be reached for comment by The Washington Post. His cellphone has been switched off.

#3  P2K - concur. I am curious how a family whose father has a program on Youtube, that previously hosted the current Afghan president, now supports his Taliban warrior brethren - pontificates while wearing camouflage, and has a son that is obviously radicalizing...escapes scrutiny until after the fact. This also happened in San Bernadino. Incompetence, impotence, deliberate indifference? All of the above?

#4  Reference #3. No one with that high a profile goes unnoticed. Nice home and cars Saddique. Your “The Durand Jirga, Inc.” non-for profit must be doing quite well.

It will be interesting to see if, like Anwar al-Awlaki, Saddique Mateen's contact(s) in Afghanistan suddenly become candidates for house cleaning.

I have a feeling much, much more will be learned in the days and weeks ahead. Too many dead 'entitlement class' victims in this one. I would not be surprised to see some high-level retirements or resignations. FBI Director Comey and possibly John Brennan could be likely candidates.

#5  What is strange is a Taliban father and ISIS son...

A) In Syria, North Africa and elsewhere we see lots of movement of jihadis between groups -- in Mali it's like keeping track of rock bands in the Monty Python skit, and B) the Taliban are the Afghan home team, while ISIS is definitely the international conglomerate. Papa was talking about home issues, Sonny Boy was embarked on world conquest.

Concur on Comey. This will be the prime opportunity to get rid of a guy that may cause Hillary problems. Obama was parroting Brennan's exact words last night - he will not go anywhere.

That said, the Feds have been consistently behind the curve on Nakoula and Eiad (the Fed prosecutors had Nakoula out as an informant on Eiad when he produced that Innocence movie that caused the riots) - Eiad was a criminal and apparent terror finacier; they screwed the pooch on the Tsaarnevs and the San Bernadino cell; and now the Mateens. I don't know how many times we can settle for excuses that they knew this could happen... Actionable intel is worthless unless it is well, actioned. The witches brew of the incompetence of our policy makers, impotence of weak kneed political minded prosecutors, and the resultant deliberate indifference of the crimint folks and some SACs (not all) equals blood in the streets.

Turkey extends gesture to Germany at İncirlik despite dispute
Germany and Turkey have reached an agreement on the construction of a guesthouse for German military staff at the İncirlik Airbase in southern Turkey despite recent tension between Berlin and Ankara over a recent Armenian “genocide” resolution in the Bundestag.

“An agreement has been reached during talks with Turkey on the issue of the construction of a guesthouse for the military staff in İncirlik and the preparation of some infrastructure,” said a statement from the German Defense Ministry.

Speaking to daily Hürriyet, officials said talks would continue although the agreement had been reached following demands by German Defense Minister Ursula von der Leyen during a visit to İncirlik at the start of 2016. “There are still kinks on some issues. They should be ironed out, too,” said a Turkish official.

Germany has tornado jets, a tanker aircraft and a staff of nearly 300 person for maintenance and ground services at İncirlik. Germany plans to build a 400-person guest house for this staff, a coordination center for operations and additional hangars for the maintenance of aircraft.

Although the German Assembly recognized the “Armenian Genocide” on June 2, it is noteworthy that talks have continued between Ankara and Berlin for the needs of German soldiers. Germany has deployed soldiers to İncirlik as part of the international fight against the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).

Turkish military sources said defense undersecretaries would mainly conduct the efforts for the construction of the guesthouse and other infrastructure works and that foreign undersecretaries could participate in the talks if necessary. According to reports, Turkey has stipulated that the guesthouse, coordination center and hangars to be built by Germany be handed over to the Turkish Defense Ministry once the mission ends.

You'll find it comforting to know that:
Orlando Terrorist Omar Mateen was a licensed and armed security guard for a multinational security company that had the Department of Homeland Security contracts to transport illegal alien caught by US Border Patrol agents.

Mateen is still licensed as a weapons eligible security guard through the Jupiter, Fla headquartered US subsidiary of G4S plc, a multinational British corporation that is the largest security provider in the world, according to the Palm Beach Post.
It does make you wonder: he was on the Watch List for a while. The FBI knew about him. Yet he could still carry heat and the DHS didn't seem to know about him.

ISIS Besieged in Sirte, Libya
Cairo-ISIS’s Libyan stronghold in the city of Sirte appeared to be on the verge of falling to militia fighters loyal to Libya’s new Western-backed government.

Pro-government forces made an unexpectedly rapid advance into the city and Libyan government officials predicted that ISIS militants would be completely routed “within days.”

ISIS’s resistance did not completely melt away and snipers in the center of the city continued to fire on advancing militia forces; however, a militia coalition spokesman said they were confident of victory.

“We think that Sirte will be liberated within days, not weeks,” Mohamed al-Gasri told Asharq Al-Awsat.” ISIS snipers are a concern to us because they shoot from long distances and that has hindered us in the battle inside the city.”

He confirmed that the operations carried out by al-Bunyan al-Marsous, which is a military offensive led by Libyan forces from Misrata, will continue.

The recapture of Sirte would be a major boost for the new Government of National Accord (GNA), a unity government formed after a U.N.-brokered deal among different factions.

Notably, Sirte, a port city on the Mediterranean coast, was best known as Muammar Gaddafi’s hometown before it fell into the hands of ISIS.

The extremist group has gained a foothold in the country in a power vacuum that hasn’t been filled since collapse of Gaddafi’s regime collapsed in 2011.

Moreover, forces allied with Libya’s unity government said Saturday they had recaptured the port in the militant stronghold of Sirte from ISIS militants who are surrounded inside the city.

The forces also retook a residential area in the east of Sirte, the main ISIS base in the North African country, a spokesman for the forces, Rida Issa said.

The fall of Sirte would be a major setback to the extremists who have also lost territory in Syria and Iraq where they have declared an Islamic “caliphate.”

Fighter jets target Shaboobs in Puntland
BOSSASO, Somalia-Unknown fighter jets have conducted airstrikes on Al Shabaab hideouts in Galgala for the third night in a row according to residents, Garowe Online reports.

War planes have reportedly launched strikes from an aircraft carrier in the sea, pounding nomadic built-up vicinities and water wells by mistake.
Ruritania has an aircraft carrier? Oh right, why yes, of course they do!
A resident who spoke to VOA Somali Service on anonymity condition said, the jets were also seen striking militants in their bases along Golis Mountain Ranges.

It is not yet known who carried out the airstrikes but the United States has previously targeted Al Shabaab militants with drone attacks in central and southern Somalia. Al Shabaab terror group has not released any details on the surprise pummeling.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Strangling Nasrallah
[Ynet] Analysis: With the US Treasury just having brought a 'blacklist' to Beirut and Hezbollah constituting 40% of the Lebanese economy, the system is going under the table.

It's the event that has gotten under Lebanese merchants' skin: Mamdouh L. is a businessman whose dealings include a chain of electronics stores. Thanks to his seniority and reputation, he was able to arrange for himself a monopoly on providing equipment and spare parts for dozens of television channels operating in Beirut. It's he who purchases equipment, sends technicians, is responsible for the proper operating of broadcasts, and manages the training center. At the end of the month, he stuffs his bank accounts with impressive sums. He lives like a king in an expansive villa, keeps a fleet of cars and a retinue of servants, and his children learn in the US's most expensive universities.

But a fortnight ago, an economic-political storm landed on Mamdouh. Assistant Secretary for the Department of the Treasury of the United States Daniel Glaser, responsible for intelligence, went to Beirut with a "blacklist" of senior Hezbollah officials and insisted that the governor of the Central Bank close the accounts of 100 commanders in Hezbollah's military wing, political wing, ministers identified with the organization, and members of parliament.

#1  But if he continues to work with Nasrallah's broadcasting studios, his electronics store will go out of business, and he himself will be in the crosshairs. On the other hand, if he tries to get away, he'll get into trouble with the Revolutionary Guards and with Hezbollah's military wing. He might find a bomb under his Mercedes one morning.

Something something frog and scorpion something.

ISIL puts beer bottles in front of cell houses to avoid police raids in Turkey’s southeast
Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) militants put beer bottles in front of their cell houses as a ploy to avoid police raids or arrests in the southeastern province of Diyarbakır, Doğan News Agency reported on June 12.

A total of 128 objects seized in an operation on Oct. 26, 2015, including plenty of beer and perfume bottles, were destroyed according to the police report. The ISIL militants also put beer on their beards in order to give the impression that they consumed alcohol to avoid arrest.

Two police officers and seven militants were killed in the aforementioned operation and many seized objects were destroyed under prosecutor’s orders on June 11 for not having criminal elements.

Books used for propaganda purposes were also among the objects destroyed.
