Yemen and Syria actually pipeline wars?
Saudi Arabia and Turkey’s pipeline wars in Yemen and Syria
BY CHRISTINA LIN on JUNE 12, 2016 in AT OPINION, MIDDLE EAST
Saudi Arabia’s pursuit of the war in Yemen, at considerable cost in blood and treasure, is a literal affirmation of the term "backdoor strategy." However, both the "door" and the actual contours of that strategy remain submerged beneath the murky waters of Mideast politics.

In June 2015, a senior advisor on Yemen in the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Joke Buringa, wrote an article regarding Saudi Arabia’s interest in building an oil pipeline through Yemen. Her piece underscored the energy geopolitics behind Riyadh’s bombing campaign over the past year.

Saudi oil pipeline through Yemen’s Hadramaut

In her article entitled "Divide and Rule: Saudi Arabia, Oil and Yemen," Buringa revealed that the Saudis fear an Iranian blockade of the Hormuz Strait, and were seeking pipelines through Yemen. This would provide Riyadh with direct access to the Gulf of Aden and the Indian Ocean to reach the Asian market.[1]
Middle East Eye columnist Nafeez Ahmed, citing a 2008 State Department cable from Wikileaks, has confirmed the Saudi interest in building a pipeline that is "wholly owned, operated and protected by Saudi Arabia, through Hadramawt to a port on the Gulf of Aden."[2]

Hadramaut is Yemen’s wealthiest governorate that counts 4 of the 26 million population, 50% of Yemen’s landmass, 80% of its oil exports, a sufficient water supply, and gold reserve worth $4 billion.

When Iran and Oman signed an agreement for a gas pipeline in 2014, this increased Riyadh’s distrust of Oman and increased the attractiveness of the Hadramaut pipeline option in Yemen. In February 2015 when the Houthis took control of the government, Riyadh began its bombing campaign the following month.

Interestingly, according to Buringa, Hadramaut (which is now under the control of al-Qaeda in the Arabia Peninsula or AQAP), is one of the few areas where the Saudi-led coalition didn’t conduct airstrikes. This has left the port and international airport of al-Mukalla in optimal shape. She observed "Saudi Arabia has been delivering arms to al-Qaeda, who is expanding its sphere of influence" and assessed that "those pipelines to Mukalla will probably get there eventually."

Indeed, Jamestown Foundation’s terrorism analyst Michael Horton concurs Riyadh views AQAP as a useful proxy in its war against the Houthis, which "would mirror the situation in Syria where al-Qaeda affiliate Jabhat al-Nusra has for some time been regarded by Saudi Arabia and other Gulf States as a relatively moderate proxy force" to counter the Assad government.[3]

Similarly, Syria’s al-Qaeda branch, al-Nusra, is now establishing an Islamic emirate in northern Syria.[5] Syria is also where Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Turkey are interested in building a gas pipelines to reach the lucrative EU market.

Qatar-Turkey gas pipeline through Syria’s Aleppo

Writing in Armed Forces Journal, Major Rob Taylor joined numerous other pundits in observing that the Syrian civil war is actually a pipeline war over control of energy supply, with Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Turkey needing to remove Assad "so they can control Syria and run their own pipeline through Turkey."[6]

"Saudi Arabia and Qatar, as well as al-Qaeda and other groups, are maneuvering to depose Assad and capitalize on their hoped-for Sunni conquest in Damascus. By doing this, they hope to gain a share of control over the ’new’ Syrian government, and a share in the pipeline wealth."

The proposed pipeline would traverse Aleppo where Turkey’s Erdogan has been lobbying for a no-fly zone backed by US military power and American tax dollars.
Along with troops in northern Iraq, northern Cyprus, and along its border with northern Syria, Turkey is building is first aircraft carrier.[12] With Riyadh and Doha’s vast energy reserves and Ankara’s NATO-trained military power, this Triumvirate has been backing the al-Nusra led Army of Conquest in northern Syria to overthrow the Syrian government, AGAP to overthrow the Houthis in Yemen, while in Libya, the Muslim Brotherhood-led Libya Dawn is supported by Turkey, Qatar and Sudan.

Hack the Pentagon uncovers over 100 vulnerabilities in DoD systems
The "Hack the Pentagon" program has proved to be a success with over 100 vulnerabilities uncovered by security researchers.

In a matter of weeks, bug bounty hunters tested the US Department of Defenses's computer systems and found a torrent of security flaws, as reported by RT. In total, over 1,400 hackers were awarded upwards of $15,000 for the most destructive bugs.

Finding so many vulnerabilities has proved to be a success, but has also highlighted just how weak the government's systems appear to be. Considering that the hackers were only permitted access to specific systems in a controlled manner -- which did not include any important or critical systems -- you have to wonder what other vulnerabilities are lurking in the US government networks.

The Hack the Pentagon project, hosted on bug bounty platform HackerOne, ran from April 18 to May 12, 2016. The program was designed to be a way for the US government to "explore new approaches to its cybersecurity challenges and evolve to adopt the best practices used by the most successful and secure software companies in the world," but also, bug bounties can prove to be a less expensive way to keep on top of cybersecurity concerns.

At the Defense One conference in Washington, DC on Friday, Defense Secretary Ashton Carter said:

"They are helping us to be more secure at a fraction of the cost. And in a way that enlists the brilliance of the white hatters, rather than waits to learn the lessons of the black hatters."

The Pentagon's bug bounty program has emerged as the practice of offering financial rewards to external researchers for bug reports becomes more commonplace. Google, Tesla, Microsoft, Facebook and Twitter are just a handful of technology giants which run similar programs, resulting in thousands of dollars being issued every year in payouts.

Earlier this month, Carter revealed plans to fast-track civilians with high levels of skill in areas including cybersecurity into top positions in the US military as part of a proposal called Force of the Future.

“Islamic Refugee” With Gas Pipeline Plans Arrested in New Mexico Border County
Not WOT just yet?...
Police in a U.S. town bordering Mexico have apprehended an undocumented, Middle Eastern woman in possession of the region's gas pipeline plans, law enforcement sources tell Judicial Watch. Authorities describe the woman as an "Islamic refugee" pulled over during a traffic stop by a deputy sheriff in Luna County, New Mexico which shares a 54-mile border with Mexico. County authorities alerted the U.S. Border Patrol and the Federal Bureau of Investigation's (FBI) Joint Terrorism Task Forces (JTTF) has been deployed to the area to investigate,
and deny
sources with firsthand knowledge of the probe confirm.

The gas pipeline plans in the woman's possession include the Deming region, law enforcement sources say. Deming is a Luna County city situated about 35 miles north of the Mexican border and 60 miles west of Las Cruces. It has a population of about 15,000. Last year one local publication listed Deming No. 1 on a list of the "ten worst places" to live in New Mexico due to high unemployment, poverty, crime and a horrible public education system. The entire region is a High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA), according to the Justice Department's National Drug Intelligence Center due to the large amounts of methamphetamines, heroin, cocaine and marijuana smuggled through the state by Mexican traffickers. Specifically, the renowned Juarez and Sinaloa cartels operate in the area, the feds affirm in a report.

Judicial Watch has broken a number of stories in the last few years about Mexican drug traffickers smuggling Islamic terrorists into the United States through the porous southern border. Last summer high-level sources on both sides of the Mexico-U.S. border offered alarming details about an operation in which cartels smuggle foreigners from countries with terrorist links into a small Texas rural town near El Paso. Classified as Special Interest Aliens (SIA) by the U.S. government, the foreigners get transported to stash areas in Acala, a rural crossroads located around 54 miles from El Paso on a state road – Highway 20. Once in the U.S., the SIAs wait for pick-up in the area's sand hills just across Highway 20.
No reason to close the border, or build a wall (physical or electronic)....
A few months ago Judicial Watch reported that members of a cell of Islamic terrorists stationed in Mexico cross into the U.S. to explore targets for future attacks with the help of Mexican drug traffickers. Among the jihadists that travel back and forth through the porous southern border is a Kuwaiti named Shaykh Mahmood Omar Khabir, an ISIS operative who lives in the Mexican state of Chihuahua not far from El Paso, Texas. Khabir trained hundreds of Al Qaeda fighters in Pakistan, Afghanistan and Yemen and has lived in Mexico for more than a year, according to Judicial Watch's high-level Homeland Security sources. Now Khabir trains thousands of men‐mostly Syrians and Yemenis‐to fight in an ISIS base situated in the Mexico-U.S. border region near Ciudad JuĂĄrez. Khabir actually brags in a European newspaper article about how easy it is to stake out American targets because the border region is wide open. In the same story Foreign Affairs Secretary Claudia Ruiz, Mexico's top diplomat, says she doesn't understand why the Obama administration and the U.S. media are "culpably neglecting this phenomenon," adding that "this new wave of fundamentalism could have nasty surprises in store for the United States."

This recent New Mexico incident brings to mind a story Judicial Watch broke less than a year ago involving five young Middle Eastern men apprehended by Border Patrol in an Arizona town (Amado) situated about 30 miles from the Mexican border. Two of the Middle Eastern men were carrying stainless steel cylinders in backpacks, alarming Border Patrol officials enough to call the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) for backup. A multitude of federal agents descended on the property and the two men carrying the cylinders were believed to be taken into custody by the FBI. Only three of the men's names were entered in the Border Patrol's E3 reporting system, which is used by the agency to track apprehensions, detention hearings and removals of illegal immigrants. E3 also collects and transmits biographic and biometric data including fingerprints for identification and verification of individuals encountered at the border. The other two men were listed as "unknown subjects," which is unheard of. "In all my years I've never seen that before," a veteran federal law enforcement agent told Judicial Watch.

Anonymous Hacker Hijacks Pro-Isis Twitter Accounts And Tweets Gay Pron And LGBT Pride Messages
An Anonymous hacker is hijacking the Twitter accounts of ISIS supporters and flooding their profiles with pro-LGBT messages and links to graphic gay porn in the wake of the deadly Orlando attack.

The hacker, only known as WauchulaGhost , has tweeted several pictures showing hijacked accounts which appear to be owned by Islamic State extremists who have been promoting jihadist ideology and sharing images of mutilated bodies.

Their profile pictures have been changed to images containing slogans like 'I'm gay and proud' and their cover photos replaced by canoodling semi-naked men.

The images they post are highly offensive to ISIS supporters as they follow a strict twisted interpretation of Islam.
[Snicker]
"I did it for the lives lost in Orlando," the hacker told Newsweek, referencing the massacre of 49 people.

FBI swamped by an avalanche of terror tips
The FBI's near-miss investigation of Orlando nightclub shooter Omar Mateen reflects a US counterterror effort swamped by potential targets and struggling to separate lethal Islamic State recruits from hotheads venting their spleen.

After dropping its 2013 scrutiny of Mateen, the bureau is under fire for not doing more to prevent the worst mass shooting in modern US history. Yet on other occasions in recent months, the FBI has been criticised for its handling of domestic terror probes, including the use of controversial sting operations.

"They're in a very hard position right now," says David Gomez, who retired in 2011 after a 28-year FBI career and who once headed the Joint Terrorism Task Force in Washington State. "They're being criticised for doing what they're legally entitled to do."

Orlando marks the third attack -- including the 2013 Boston Marathon bombings and the shootings last year at a Garland, Texas, exhibit of cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed -- involving an individual who had been interviewed by the FBI. Amid an avalanche of terror tips, James Comey, the bureau's director, says that tracking the "troubled souls" drawn to radical Islam represents a vexing challenge for his agents.

"The number of Isis cases in the US is unprecedented," said Seamus Hughes, deputy director of George Washington University's programme on extremism.

The US has charged 88 individuals with Isis-related crimes over the past two years, Mr Hughes said. In the past year alone, there have been 61 arrests, two or three times the typical figure, he added.
And like 0bean's other programs, the numbers will continue to rise until the unsustainability of it all finally sinks in, even to the most willfully and studiously ignorant. Take care of the now when they're small and the casualties relatively few. Otherwise, the people will have to get involved, and that won't be so pretty, whether guns or glass bottles and ropes are involved.
Some of those caught in the anti-terror dragnet were deadly serious. In February, John Booker, 21, of Topeka, Kansas, pleaded guilty to charges of planning to detonate a car bomb on a nearby US Army base. Booker -- also known as Muhammad Abdullah Hassan -- planned to use half a tonne of ammonium nitrate in an explosion that would have killed US soldiers and himself, according to the justice department.

Others hardly seem like terrorist masterminds. Emanuel Lutchman, 25, was arrested on December 30 on charges of planning a machete attack on patrons at a Rochester, NY, diner. An ex-convict and convert to Islam, Lutchman had a history of mental illness and was so short of cash that an undercover agent covered the $40 cost of ski masks, knives, duct tape and other supplies for the planned attack, according to court documents.

In the Orlando case, Mateen was interviewed twice by the FBI in 2013 after his coworkers alerted authorities to his claims of terror links. After a 10-month probe, agents closed the investigation having found no indication Mateen had committed a crime or posed a threat. Mateen's name also surfaced in a separate investigation one year later of an American man who travelled to Syria to become a suicide bomber, but agents concluded the two men had no significant relationship.

The FBI introduced an undercover agent to Mateen, a tool used in 56 per cent of investigations over the past two years. The bureau says its operatives give suspects several opportunities to abandon their plans before arresting them. But Michael German, a former FBI undercover agent, says the increasing reliance on undercover agents is a mistake.

Sting operations are "less about identifying and mitigating real threats than intended to manufacture a case that the government can then point to as evidence of an effective counterterrorism posture", says Mr German, now a fellow at New York University's Brennan Center for Justice.

Still, courts so far have sided with the government whenever defendants have claimed they were entrapped by agents. In 2014, the Supreme Court let stand a lower-court ruling in the case of four men accused of plotting to shoot down military aircraft and blow up two New York synagogues. Known as the "Newburgh Four", the Muslim converts were convicted in 2010 of terror charges. They are now serving 25-year sentences in federal prison after failing to convince an appeals court that an undercover FBI agent had entrapped them with a promise of $250,000 to launch the attacks.

Since Islamic State leaders began calling on sympathisers to stage attacks in their home countries, the FBI has confronted a growing workload. The Mateen case demonstrates that agents face a daunting task. "We are looking for needles in a nationwide haystack, but we are also called up to figure out which pieces of hay might someday become needles," Mr Comey told reporters this week.

Agents are working on more than 900 active investigations in all 50 states, the FBI says. Under protocols established following the attacks on September 11 2001, every tip must be checked. The agents investigating Mateen were likely handling an additional 15 to 25 cases at the same time. "The bureau's stretched thin because the threat continues to grow," said retired FBI agent Jeffrey Ringel, now a director of the Soufan Group.

It also may take years for someone to move from spouting offensive, though constitutionally protected, views to embracing violence. The killings in the Pulse nightclub occurred more than three years after the FBI closed its investigation of Mateen, having concluded that his contradictory remarks about ties to terror groups were incoherent and not threatening. At the time, it seemed like the right call.

"Up until 2 o'clock Sunday," Ringel says, "he was a law-abiding citizen."

California's cap-and-trade program faces daunting hurdles to avoid collapse

The linchpin of California's climate change agenda, a program known as cap and trade, has become mired in legal, financial and political troubles that threaten to derail the state's plans to curb greenhouse gas emissions.

The program has been a symbol of the state's leadership in the fight against global warming and a key source of funding, most notably for the high-speed rail project connecting San Francisco and Los Angeles.
which has no feasible business plan and is violating every promise made to get voter approval
But the legality of cap and trade is being challenged in court by a business group, and questions are growing about whether state law allows it to operate past 2020. With the end of the legislative session in August, Gov. Jerry Brown, lawmakers and interest groups of all stripes are laying the groundwork for what could become a battle royal over the future of California's climate change programs.

Unless the state acts, "the whole system could fail," said Senate leader Kevin de LeĂłn (D-Los Angeles). "If that happens, we could lose an entire stream of revenue to make our communities more sustainable."

California received an unwelcome reminder of cap and trade's precarious situation last month.

The program functions by capping how much greenhouse gas can be emitted into the atmosphere and requiring companies to obtain permits, each allowing 1 metric ton of emissions. Those permits can be purchased at auctions or traded in a market, a system intended to provide a financial incentive for businesses such as power plants, oil refineries and manufacturers to reduce emissions.

By selling the permits, the state generates revenue that can be spent on other initiatives that reduce greenhouse-gas emissions, such as weatherizing homes and helping low-income residents buy cleaner cars. The bullet train is the biggest recipient, getting 25% of the cap-and-trade funds.

During the most recent auction in May, only 11% of the permits offered for sale were purchased.

Police identified the gunman late Tuesday as 54-year-old Mohammad Moghaddam.

Moghaddam, who was an employee at that Walmart, took two other workers hostage, local media reported. One of the hostages was the store manager, relatives told the Amarillo Globe-News.

"We do consider this a work-place violence situation at this point," the sheriff's office said. City officials first reported an "active shooter incident" at 12:30 p.m. local time.

Police earlier said they were looking for a Somali man wearing khaki pants, KFDA added. Officers reportedly were evacuating shoppers from the west side of the store in the Texas Panhandle.

(CNSNews.com) The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) "has a very, very clear strategy" for what they want to achieve, but "we do not," says Lt. Col. Scott Mann (Ret.), a 23-year Army veteran and former Green Beret who served in Iraq and Afghanistan.

ISIS has clearly stated that it intends to use horrific violence to draw the U.S. into an apocalyptic holy war to establish a caliphate, Mann told CNSNews.com.

He pointed to a propaganda video released by ISIS last year entitled No Respite that taunts Western Europe and the U.S., calling it "the shot across the bow before Paris and San Bernardino."

"They tell us that this is a campaign of violence against Western Europe and the U.S., that they want to draw us into a manufactured holy war so that they can usher in the end of days. You’ll see it in the video. And so they have a strategy ‐ a very, very clear strategy. They have will and capacity to pursue that strategy.

"We do not. If you look at how we have evolved in Iraq since we abandoned that place in 2011, it has been very piecemeal, it has been reactionary. Even the guys that are in there right now don’t have many authorities to get out from behind the concertina wire and actually engage those marginalized Sunni tribes."

The U.S. not only fails to acknowledge the "real vulnerabilities of ISIS," but actually makes things worse by "deepening the rift" between the Shia-dominated Iraqi government, Iran-sponsored Shia militias, and the marginalized Sunni populations in which ISIS is embedded even though "ISIS is most vulnerable when they are operating in those Sunni areas," Mann said.

"They [ISIS] literally have their foot on the necks of many Sunnis," explained Mann, who is now CEO of Mission America. "However, if you are a Sunni in a place like Fallujah, you know that the mostly Shia Iraqi government has been pretty rough on you since we left in 2011, and you also know that there are Shia brigades that are going to be coming for you. So you’re still gonna likely [make] your camp with ISIS because they are Sunni."

Julian Assange: WikiLeaks Will Publish More Hildebeest emails
[Daily Caller] During a Sunday interview with ITV's Robert Peston, Julian Assange stated that WikiLeaks is preparing to release another massive dump of undisclosed emails Hillary Clinton sent through a private server during her tenure as secretary of state.

"We have upcoming leaks in relation to Hillary Clinton, which is great," Assange stated. "WikiLeaks has a very big year ahead."

Despite the growing mountain of evidence, Assange stated he doesn’t think Clinton will be indicted by the Obama administration.

"We could proceed to an indictment, but Loretta Lynch as the head of the DOJ in the United States, she’s not going to indict Hillary Clinton."

Sharia Adherence Mosque Survey: Correlations between Sharia Adherence and Violent Dogma in U.S. Mosques
The following article may be in the Rantburg archvies. It is an older article which reports the survey results (2011) of 100 mosques in the U.S. The results belie Obama's angry response to Donald Trump. It seems that Sharia Law, violent jihad is embedded in the majority of American mosques. The question arises: "Is our problem with Islamic jihadists/Islamists or with the larger religion of Islam?" since those advocating violence against Americans seems to be so prevalent among the larger body of Islam adherents?" Why is Obama and the Democratic left sticking their collective heads in the sand? Why are they being such good little dhimmis?.
A random survey of 100 representative mosques in the U.S. was conducted to measure the correlation between Sharia adherence and dogma calling for violence against non-believers. Of the 100 mosques surveyed, 51% had texts on site rated as severely advocating violence; 30% had texts rated as moderately advocating violence; and 19% had no violent texts at all. Mosques that presented as Sharia adherent were more likely to feature violence-positive texts on site than were their non-Sharia-adherent counterparts. In 84.5% of the mosques, the imam recommended studying violence-positive texts. The leadership at Sharia-adherent mosques was more likely to recommend that a worshipper study violence-positive texts than leadership at non-Sharia-adherent mosques. Fifty-eight percent of the mosques invited guest imams known to promote violent jihad. The leadership of mosques that featured violence-positive literature was more likely to invite guest imams who were known to promote violent jihad than was the leadership of mosques that did not feature violence-positive literature on mosque premises.

Because the Pander Party (i.e., the Democrats) have decided to adopt Muslims as their latest "Officially Recognized Poor Helpless Victims of White Male Capitalist Oppression" to stand beside blacks, gays, and women. To bogus charges of racism, homophobia and sexism, we will henceforth have to endure bogus charges of "Islamophobia."

Democratic Rep. James Clyburn: Orlando not about ISIS
[Daily Caller] In the wake of the terrorist attack in Orlando by a man who pledged his allegiance to ISIS, Democratic Rep. James Clyburn said, “this is not about ISIS. … this is about guns in America and whether or not we’re going to have some kind of moderation to this Second Amendment.”

Appearing on “MSNBC Live” with Tamron Hall on Tuesday, Clyburn said, “If you’re on the no-fly list, you ought not be able to buy a gun. … The same thing is true of people convicted of hate crimes. We ought not allow them to buy guns. This gentleman, it is now being revealed, had a lot of hate, and it seems that some of it was self-hate.”
Forget hate crime, LGBT folks cannot hate or have ISIS associations. The new Orlando narrative is firearms.
As Rahm said, never let a crisis go to waste. The truest north stars for the progressives are abortion and gun control.

And remember, once they get the law settled in their favor on the 'Watch list' and guns, almost all of us will be on the watch list.

A further thought (1055 CT): If a man says he’s a woman, then she’s a woman. But if a man calls 911 during a killing spree and says that he’s a Muslim and is doing the killing for ISIS, then we’ll never quite know for sure what his motive was, will we? It'll be a mystery forever...

DHS Secretary: Right-Wingers Pose Same Threat As Islamic Extremists
[Daily Caller] One month after the San Bernardino terrorist attack that left 14 innocent people dead, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson told advisors that right wing extremists pose just as much of a threat to the country as Islamic extremists.

Johnson made the comments during the Homeland Security Advisory Council's (HSAC) January meeting. City of Austin Mayor Art Acevedo, whom Johnson appointed to HSAC, shifted the discussion to the threat of right-wing extremists, according to the official meeting minutes.

"Member Acevedo reminded the Council that the threat from right-wing extremists domestically is just as real as the threat from Islamic extremism," the minutes state.
"Right-wing extremists" ... regime code for conservative republican.
Johnson echoed the sentiment. "Secretary Johnson agreed and noted that CVE [Subcommittee on Combating Violent Extremism], by definition, is not solely focused on one religion," the minutes state.

Mentally ill man stabs French teen for ‘Ramadan sacrifice’
Embrace the power of and.
[IsraelTimes] Girl escapes with non-life threatening wounds; assailant, who has spent time in psychiatric ward, sent to hospital for evaluation

A man with known psychiatric problems stabbed a 19-year-old girl three times in western La Belle France on Tuesday, telling police he had heard voices ordering him to make a "sacrifice" for Ramadan, the Rennes prosecutor said.

The attack came a day after a jihadist killed a French police couple in a small town near Gay Paree, in a stabbing inspired by the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group.

"Voices told him that he had to make a sacrifice on the occasion of Ramadan," the holy Moslem month that began on June 6, prosecutor Nicolas Jacquet told AFP.

The 32-year-old man was immediately assessed by a doctor and sent to a psychiatric hospital after stabbing the girl twice in the wrist and once in the abdomen, Jacquet said, adding that the teenager’s wounds are not life-threatening.

The assailant told a witness that he was Moslem before handing over the knife after the attack, Jacquet said.

The man had been in and out of psychiatric wards several times, the prosecutor said, adding that he told Sherlocks he was being treated for schizophrenia and was supposed to receive an injection on Tuesday.

An investigation has been opened into the attempted murder.

Germany Warns Refugees against Polygamy, Child Brides
[An Nahar] Germany will not recognize polygamy or marriages involving minors, its justice minister said Tuesday, as concern rises over such cases amid a record influx of refugees, many from Moslem countries.

"No-one who comes here has the right to put his cultural values or religious beliefs above our law," said Justice Minister Heiko Maas in an interview with Bild daily. "Therefore no polygamous marriages will be recognized in Germany."
Did you clear that with Chancellor Merkel?
Under Islamic law, men are allowed to take up to four wives.

In Germany, however, polygamy is banned although the law provides latitude in some cases for migrants colonists who had wedded abroad.

For instance, if a man dies leaving two wives, a court could take into account their de-facto relationship, which is bigamous under common law, when distributing the inheritance.

But Maas wants to end the ambiguity, saying: "Everybody must abide by the law, no matter whether he has grown up here or has only just arrived. The law applies equally to all."

Likewise, the justice minister said cases of marriages involving a minor should also be outlawed, for fear that the underaged individual has been forced into marrying.

"We cannot tolerate forced marriages, above all, if they affect under-aged girls," Maas said.

According to Unicef, child marriages -- where at least one spouse is under 18 -- account for 40 percent of all marriages in Afghanistan, from where one of the biggest groups of recent refugees to Germany come.

Bild reported that the southern state of Bavaria has recorded 161 cases of asylum seekers with spouses who are under 16, and 550 cases of marriages involving under-18s.

In neighboring Baden-Wuerttemberg, 117 cases of child marriages were registered among newly arrived migrants colonists, while in the populous state of North-Rhine Westphalia, at least 188 such cases with under-aged girls had been recorded.

28 Syrian army troops die as ISIS counterattacks at Taqba
An ISIS counter-attack on Syrian regime forces advancing towards an extremist stronghold on Monday left 28 combatants dead, a monitor said.

Dozens of ISIS fighters early on Monday attacked government positions south of the town of Tabqa, an ISIS stronghold on the Euphrates River, said the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

Observatory head Rami Abdel Rahman said fierce clashes broke out, but that regime forces were able to maintain their positions and were still 15 kilometers (10 miles) from the ISIS-held Tabqa airport.

“Eleven regime fighters and 17 Daesh fighters were killed in the attack,” said Abdel Rahman, using the Arabic acronym for ISIS.

Earlier this month, government fighters backed by Russian air power began pushing north towards Tabqa, held by ISIS since 2014.

The town lies some 50 kilometers (31 miles) east of the extremist group’s Syrian de facto capital of Raqa city, and recapturing it would sever the supply road from the west.

Last week, ISIS fighters had sent reinforcements of fighters and weapons into Tabqa in anticipation of a fierce battle to defend the town.

Abdel Rahman said a total of 37 government fighters and 101 ISIS militants have been killed since the regime launched its offensive for Tabqa.

The war in Syria -- which began with the brutal repression of anti-government demonstrations in 2011 -- has killed more than 280,000 people and displaced millions.

It has evolved into a brutal, complex civil war among the government, rebels, extremists, and Kurds, each carving out zones of control.

Three militants killed in Swat search operation
MINGORA: Three suspected terrorists were killed in a joint operation of security forces and police in the Totano Bandai area of Kabal tehsil on Tuesday morning.

According to police, the operation was launched after gunmen opened fire on a police van in the area on Monday night, leaving three policemen injured. They were identified as Assistant Sub-Inspector Rafiullah and constables Azizur Rehman and Jahangir.

Soon after the incident, policemen and army troops reached the place of the attack, cordoned off the area and mounted a search for the attackers, said an official at Kabal police station.

District Police Officer of Swat Saleem Marwat said that when security forces and police reached Manja village, they were fired at by militants. Security forces returned fire and killed three militants who are yet to be identified.

The bodies of the militants were taken to Kabal police station for identification.

“A search operation is still being conducted to ensure peace in the area but curfew has not been imposed there,” the DPO said.

Police said that they were investigating to verify whether the slain militants were involved in recent attacks on policemen in Charbagh and Manglore areas.

Ten suspects were picked up and taken to an unspecified place for interrogation as search operation continued till late night.

Army major killed in Afghan cross-border firing
PESHAWAR: An army officer, who was injured by Afghan firing at the Torkham border on Monday, succumbed to his injuries at the Combined Military Hospital in Peshawar on Tuesday.

A skirmish between Afghan and Pakistani security personnel began on Sunday after "Afghan security forces resorted to unprovoked firing directed at the Pakistani side of the Torkham Gate," a statement issued by Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) had earlier said.

The ISPR statement added that, in order to check movement of terrorists through Torkham, Pakistan is constructing a gate on its side of the border as a necessity to check unwanted and illegal movement.

Since Sunday, intermittent exchanges have taken place between the two sides, injuring six Pakistani civilians and 10 security personnel, including a major and a lieutenant. The injured troops belong to the army, FC and Khasadar Force.

The Foreign Office had on Monday summoned the Afghan envoy to express anger over unprovoked firing by Afghan troops at the Torkham border crossing which left several Pakistani troops and civilians injured.

The FO in a statement explained that the gate was being constructed for “facilitating cross-border movement” and that Kabul had been intimated about the government policy about regulating the crossings.

The FO said the Afghan government had been asked to investigate the Torkham incident and take steps to prevent its recurrence.

Meanwhile at a meeting in Kabul, Afghan Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah defended the action and said bilateral understandings required mutual consent before construction of new installations near the border, according to VoA.

“The Afghan security and defence forces retaliated to safeguard the territorial integrity and defend the country and its people ... armed forces are always ready to defend their country and people and to react against any kind of threats,” the Afghan foreign ministry said in a separate statement.

Major Ali buried in Quetta

The funeral prayers of Major Ali were also offered in Imambargah Nichari in Quetta on Tuesday evening.

Chief Minister Balochistan Nawab Sanaullah Zehri, Home Minister Sarfaraz Bugti, IG FC Major General Sher Afgun and other high level civilian and armed forces personnel attended the funeral.

The major was later buried in the presence of a large number of people.

The firing erupted again on Monday afternoon when Pakistani border forces restarted installation of the gate inside its own territory near the Torkham border’s zero-point.

Reports from across the border claim six have been wounded on the Afghan side, with one official having died.

Dozens of Kurd civilians kidnapped by ISIS troops

[ARA News] ALEPPO – Extremists of the Islamic State group (ISIS) on Tuesday kidnapped dozens of civilians after breaking into a number of Kurdish villages near al-Bab city in the northern countryside of Aleppo, northern Syria, activists and eyewitnesses reported.

ISIS militants stormed the villages of Shawa, Qaarkalbin, Tel Jarja, Sosinbat, Numan and Qabasin, and abducted more than 210 Kurdish civilians.

Eyewitnesses in the targeted villages near al-Bab told ARA News that ISIS members selected the houses inhabited by Kurdish families before breaking into them.

“They drove young people out of their homes, including men and women, and they moved them away by large trucks. We don’t know where they’ve been taken,” an eyewitness in Tel Jarja told ARA News, speaking on condition of anonymity. “ISIS fighters left behind the elderly and children, they only took the young and healthy boys and girls.”

“Most of the kidnapped were young men and some of them were women. We are concerned about their destiny, as the group may use them as human shields in its battles with the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces,” Kurdish lawyer Omran Mansour told ARA News in Aleppo.

The Islamic State militants have been involved in heavy fighting with the SDF forces in the northern countryside of Aleppo for over a year, and most recently in Manbij, where the Kurdish-led SDF has repeatedly raised concerns about civilians used by ISIS as human shields during the battles. The SDF has recaptured over 105 villages and farms in the vicinity of Manbij in a two-week-operation, while ISIS remains stranded inside the city.

“ISIS extremists are now carrying out a revenge campaign against Kurds and other communities in northern Aleppo, accusing them of supporting the SDF,” Mansour said.

The Kurdish lawyer added that the kidnapped young men could be forced into the fighting against the SDF, while the women might be taken as sex slaves.

“We have seen this scenario before, especially with the Yezidi community at the hands of ISIS jihadis, and we would apparently see this over and over again as long as those terrorists exist in this region,” Mansour told ARA News.

100+ villages captured in Manbij operation
[ARA News] MANBIJ – The Manbij Military Council, assisted by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), have captured more than 105 villages and farms since the start of the operations on 31 May, military sources reported on Tuesday.

The Manbij Military Council managed to take control of many villages in a short time. However, civilians are held hostage and used as human shields by the Islamic State (ISIS) extremists group.

“Still large numbers of citizens are trying to flee the city controlled by the “Islamic State” in and get out of it, and the people accused members from the organization of targeting the outskirts of the city and monitoring it by snipers,” SOHR said on Tuesday.

The advances are backed by heavy airstrikes of the US-led coalition targeting ISIS at the northern and eastern vicinity outskirts of Manbij.

On 12 June, six coalition airstrikes struck five separate ISIS tactical units and destroyed four ISIS fighting positions, an ISIS cave entrance, an ISIS weapons cache, an ISIS vehicle and an ISIS light machine gun, the coalition said in a press release.

Moreover, six fighters from the SDF were killed from the Arab town of Sarrin in clashes with ISIS near the eastern bank of the Euphrates river.

Ibrahim Kurdo, the foreign affairs head in Kobane, told ARA News that the US-led coalition is satisfied with the progress.

“I believe that America as well as our people are satisfied with the Manbij operation, and Manbij a strategic center of ISIS is now besieged without many martyrs and casualties,” he said. “I believe we are successful, and the international coalition is satisfied,” he said.

“Since the start of the operation, we have conducted 102 airstrikes in Manbij; 84 of those strikes occurred since the start of the ground operation last week. We are also continuing to provide intelligence and ISR support,” Colonel Chris Garver, the spokesperson of the US-led coalition said last week.

“[The SDF] has continued to make significant progress in seizing territory from and further isolating Daesh around Manbij,” he added.

a fellow officer after he was accused of beating up an elderly Hindu man for not fasting during Ramadan, an incident that sparked a social media outcry.

The elderly man was pictured bloodied after the attack which reportedly took place in Ghotki district of Sindh province on Saturday just before sunset. The images were widely shared over the weekend.

Activists and outraged Paks using the hashtag #JusticeforGokalDas called for the officer who allegedly attacked him to be arrested.

"Religion doesn't mean forced fasting & terrorizing the weak. Shame on those who did this," tweeted one Pak user.

"Deplorable! Non-muslims should be allowed to eat food anytime they want. Stop terrorizing them," said another.

Bilawal Bhutto, son of Pakistain's slain prime minister Benazir, later tweeted that the police officer had been taken into custody.

Local police confirmed the arrest and told AFP an inquiry was being conducted.

"Strict action will be taken against the police official and a police brass hat will go to meet the victim and seek an apology to give a better image of the police to the public," a statement said.

program celebrating the holy Moslem fasting month of Ramadan.

"Let me put it straight, the verse of the Koran says... animals do not perform prayers and those who do not perform prayers are animals," Mustafa Askar said during the show aired on the state-run TRT television over the weekend.

Askar said human beings are the only creatures whose foreheads incline to allow the prostration of prayer.

"Human beings were created to be prayer ergonomic," said Askar, professor at Ankara University's Faculty of Theology.

With controversy growing, Turkey's religious affairs directorate, Diyanet, said it was "unacceptable" to insult people by targeting their freedom of faith.

"The place, importance and value of prayers in our religion are known by everyone," Diyanet said in a statement on its Twitter account.

"But it is unacceptable to denigrate or insult people by targeting their freedom of faith and worshiping."

Diyanet also said the professor's inference from Koranic verses "does not bode well with Islam's language of wisdom and its messages of mercy."

chief on Tuesday called on the United States to bring in "robust gun regulation" in order to prevent the kind of mass killing seen in Orlando, Florida over the weekend.

Zeid Ra'ad Al Hussein urged Washington to live up to its obligations to protect its citizens from the "horrifyingly commonplace but preventable violent attacks that are the direct result of insufficient gun control."

Gunman Omar Mateen killed 49 people and maimed another 53 before he was killed when police stormed the Pulse, one of Orlando's most prominent gay venues, early Sunday.

"It is hard to find a rational justification that explains the ease with which people can buy firearms, including assault rifles, in spite of prior criminal backgrounds, drug use, histories of domestic violence and mental illness, or direct contact with murderous Moslems ‐ both domestic and foreign," Zeid said in a statement.

"How many more mass killings of school-children, of co-workers, of African-American churchgoers... will it take before the United States adopts robust gun regulation?" he asked.

Algerian Troops Kill Two Islamist Militants
[An Nahar] Algerian soldiers have killed two armed Islamists in an operation east of the capital, the defense ministry said on Tuesday.

It said the two "terrorists" were killed on Monday in the Jijel area more than 300 kilometers (185 miles) from Algiers, and added that guns, ammunition and improvised bombs were also found.

The authorities in the North African country use the term "terrorists" to refer to Islamist holy warriors.

A brutal civil war in the 1990s between the government and Islamists claimed about 200,000 lives.

Despite adopting a peace and reconciliation charter in 2005 aimed at turning the page on the conflict, gangs remain active in central and eastern Algeria.

According to an AFP count compiled from official bulletins, security forces have killed at least 75 armed Islamists this year.

"The two suspects were close to the bombing scene and they are still being interrogated," al-Liwaa newspaper reported on Tuesday, citing security information it has obtained.

Security agencies are also probing the presence of "a car that stopped in the outer street that stretches from Tallet al-Khayyat to the end of the Aisha Bakkar area," the daily added.

It also said that the bomb was connected to a timer and that it weighed eight kilograms of highly explosive TNT.

"Sources close to the investigation have voiced confidence about the possibility of identifying the party that plotted the kaboom and arresting the culprits who acted on the ground," al-Liwaa added.

The kaboom outside the Verdun headquarters of BLOM Bank, one of the country's largest, maimed two people and caused extensive material damage to the building's glass facade and the parked cars.

FBI: Gunman possibly targeted 2nd club
An Orlando nightclub owner received a Facebook friend request from Omar Mateen, the gunman who killed 49 people and injured 53 others at another nightclub. Shortly before 5 p.m. Tuesday, investigators from the Orlando Police Department and the FBI arrived at Club Revere to speak with owner Michael Bass.

Bass told News 6 investigator Michael Holfeld that he had received a Facebook request from Mateen either late Thursday and early Friday morning. Bass told Holfeld he made the connection when he saw reports on News 6 about the Pulse nightclub shooting.

"When I didn't accept (the Facebook friend request), I looked through his friends first and rejected it. In doing that, I looked -- a few of his friends were just Arabic writing and I didn't even know. It was just nothing that would relate to an LGBT club. It just didn't make sense," Bass told Mike Holfeld.

"But you are sure that's him," Holfeld asked Bass about the friend request from Omar Mateen.

"I am 99.99 percent," Bass said.

"When I saw that picture that morning of the incident, I swallowed my tongue. I work here. I help with security. I run, I operate, I fix. I watch what goes on." Bass said. "It was Omar Mateen."

Club Revere was closed Saturday night, and one of the the regular dancers at the club went to Pulse. News 6 learned the dancer was 35-year-old Xavier Emmanuel Serrano Rosado, who died in the mass shooting.

"I will remember him for the rest of my life. (He's) that kind of person," Bass said.

The ruling came only two hours after Bahraini Justice Minister Khaled Bin Ali Al Khalifa filed a suit against the political group. The minister claimed the group had provided a safe haven to ’terrorism’ and ’aggression’ and paved the ground for ’foreign interferences in internal matters.’

In a statement Tuesday on the state-run Bahrain News Agency, the Justice Ministry said it has suspended the Al-Wefaq opposition group and frozen its assets.

It also comes a day after authorities detained Nabeel Rajab, a prominent activist and the president of the Bahrain Center for Human Rights. Zainab al-Khawaja, another prominent activist, also fled for Denmark in recent days over fears of being imprisoned again.

Sartaj Aziz says Haqqani Network not a simple issue, could cause a blowback
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The Pak Foreign Affairs Adviser Sartaj PrunefaceAziz
...Adviser to Pak Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on National Security and Foreign Affairs, who believes in good jihadis and bad jihadis as a matter of national policy...
has said the Haqqani Network was not a simple issue and could have caused a blowback.

Sartaj was speaking a joint sitting of the Senate committees on defence and foreign affairs which mainly focused on the issue of the cancellation of F-16s sale by US to Pakistain.

The US congress refused to to approve funding for the deal days after the US politicians had accused Pakistain of not doing enough to fight Lion of Islam.

The decision by the US congress meant that Pakistain will have to pay more than $700m (£480m) ‐ two-and-a-half times the original cost of the fighter jets.

Pakistain would pay close to $270m, with the US foreign military financing budget paying for the rest, according to the original arrangement.

However,
Caliphornia hasn't yet slid into the ocean, no matter how hard it's tried...
Sartaj said the government was right in not accepting the US conditions. "If the conditions affect national interest, it is better not to accept them. It was an issue of choices," he contended while deliberating on the reasons that led to the cancellation of the F-16 deal with the US, according to the local Dawn newspaper.

Haqqani network, he said, was not a simple issue and could have caused a blowback.

Sataj further added that the matter was linked to the border management, which the Afghan government had been resisting.

today.

This is the first official confirmation of a Mighty Pak Army officer killed during the heavy clash erupted late on Sunday night.

The Afghan officials said an Afghan border policeman lost his life and six others were maimed during the battle with the Pak forces.

Clashes between the two sides erupted late on Sunday night after the Afghan forces prevented installation of a door in zero point along the Durand Line in Torkham.

Venezuela's Maduro Seeks to Block Recall Vote
[An Nahar] Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro's allies asked the Supreme Court on Monday to block a bid to call a referendum on sacking him, accusing the opposition of "fraud."

The move casts doubt on the recall vote sought by the opposition, which accuses the high court of pro-Maduro bias and has clashed with it repeatedly since winning control of congress in December.

Maduro's opponents warn Venezuela risks exploding into unrest without a vote on sacking the leftist leader, whom they blame for an economic crisis marked by severe shortages of food, medicine and electricity.

The opposition is racing to call a referendum by the end of the year, and has submitted a petition with 1.8 million signatures to start the lengthy process.

But Jorge Rodriguez, the head of a panel appointed by Maduro to oversee the recall push, said he had filed a complaint asking the Supreme Court to "protect Venezuelans' constitutional rights" by intervening.

Electoral authorities have accepted 1.3 million signatures submitted by the opposition as valid -- well above the threshold of 200,000.

Last week, they said they would proceed to the next stage: verifying those 1.3 million signatories' identity with fingerprint scans from June 20 to 24.

Speaking to journalists outside the Supreme Court, Rodriguez said it would be "perpetrating a brutal fraud to authorize (the opposition) to proceed to the next stage."

Study Finds Madrassas Training Terrorists In Pakistan
You gotta wonder how much money was flushed down the sh*tter for information known since 2001
Research carried out by a Pakistani researcher has found that Taliban and other terrorists are being trained at three large madrassas inside Pakistan, near military installations.

The issue was raised in a debate at Hudson Institute in the United States, where Afghan ambassador to the U.S Hamdullah Mohib and Pakistani researcher and journalist Dr. Mohammad Taqi participated.

The debate was hosted by Pakistan's former ambassador to Washington, Husain Haqqani.

Taqi, who carried out the research, said the Haqqani and Panjpeer madrassas in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Jamat-ul-Banuriya madrassa in Karachi city in Pakistan are the three main training centers of terrorists in that country.

"(Haqqani complex) is a sprawling complex all across the road with about 100,000 students there ," he said adding that right next to it was a military unit of the Pakistani army.

In this debate, the Afghan ambassador said that this is the time for the world to put pressure on supporters of terrorism.

"International community, Afghanistan is a reliable partner and the best way to control terrorism is to put more pressure on those who use terrorism for political gain," he said.

He added that the Taliban are now fearful however after the U.S extended the authorities of its troops in Afghanistan to target the insurgent group.

Libya PM Calls for Unity behind Anti-IS Sirte Offensive
[An Nahar] The head of Libya's unity government on Tuesday urged Libyans to rally behind forces battling to retake the city of Sirte from the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. group.

Prime minister-designate Fayez al-Sarraj said advances by pro-government fighters in the jihadist group's North African stronghold should be a model for "a national initiative to fight terrorism."

"We bless the victories of our sons on the front lines... in the fight to liberate Sirte and cleanse it" of IS, he said in a televised statement released on the Facebook page of the Government of National Accord (GNA).

Forces loyal to the U.N.-backed GNA have been fighting since mid-May to oust IS from Sirte, 450 kilometers (280 miles) east of the capital Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
A parallel force based in eastern Libya, including local militias and units of the national army loyal to a controversial general, Khalifa Haftar
... served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969. He became a prisoner of war in Chad in 1987. While held prisoner, he and his fellow officers formed a group hoping to overthrow Qadaffy. He was released around 1990 in a deal with the United States government and spent nearly two decades in the United States, gaining US citizenship. In 1993, while living in the United States, he was convicted in absentia of crimes against the Jamahiriya and sentenced to death. Haftar held a senior position in the anti-Qadaffy forces in the 2011 Libyan Civil War. In 2014 he was commander of the Libyan Army when the General National Congress (GNC) refused to give up power in accordance with its term of office. Haftar launched a campaign against the GNC and its Islamic fundamentalist allies. His campaign allowed elections to take place to replace the GNC, but then developed into a civil war. Guess you can't win them all...
, is not taking part in the operation.

Pro-government troops, a mix of militias and army units, have taken control of Sirte's port and airport.

But their advance slowed at the end of last week as they reached central and northern parts of the city where IS fighters are holed up in residential areas.

Pro-government forces announced on Monday that they had seized an IS arms depot, and released a photo showing a room full of ammunition.

They also said that the air force had launched six air strikes against IS positions the city.

The forces fighting IS in Sirte include gangs from western cities including Misrata, 190 kilometers (120 miles) to the northwest.

The Misratan forces are among the best-armed militias in the country and have several MiG fighter jets and attack helicopters.

These militias were set up during the 2011 uprising against former strongman Muammar Qadaffy
... who had more funny outfits than Louis XIV...
Following the downfall of the regime and Qadaffy's death they kept their weapons and became major military players in the country.

A militia set up to guard the country's main oil installations has also been advancing on IS from the east. Last week it took control of several villages and towns including Harawa, 70 kilometers (40 miles) east of Sirte.

France stabber had ties to Jihadist group
More on yesterday's European killer.
[Jpost] Born in La Belle France of Moroccan origin, Larossi Abballa, 25, had been under surveillance by French authorities since January, said Molins, as part of an investigation into a Syrian Jihadi cell. Molins emphasized that there was no indication from the wiretap that Abdalla was planning an attack.

Police also found three telephones, three knives, one of which was "bloodied, lying on the table," Molins said in a presser.

The knifeman who killed a French police commander and his partner at their home on Monday had recently pledged allegiance to the head of the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. Yemen UN envoy halts submitting peace roadmap
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The UN's special envoy for Yemeno n Tuesday halted the submitting a roadmap to resolve the war-torn country's crisis. according to a source close to the Yemeni governmental delegation in the Kuwait talks.

The delay is due to "the [Houthi] rebels' intransigent stance which their last statement has revealed and which took negotiations back to square one," a source said.

The source added that the "rebels' statement, which was issued two days ago and which came following the return of their delegation head Mohammad Abdelsalam from Saada, reflects the true stance of the rebellious Houthi
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The Yemeni government has accused the Houthis of having ties to the Iranian government, which wouldn't suprise most of us. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews ...
movement as it shows it's not serious about the consultations despite the efforts exerted by the U.N. and the countries sponsoring the political settlement process."

Both rival delegations - on one side the Iranian-backed Houthi militias, and on the other the internationally recognized government of President Abdrabbu Mansour Hadi - had both received a copy of the roadmap and discussed it with their leaders.

On Monday, the UN's envoy Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, met with members from the delegations attending the Kuwait peace talks to discuss security measures.

Ahmed was to present a three-point plan to the parties negotiating an end to the war, which began in late March last year and has led to the deaths of thousands.

UN envoy halts submitting peace roadmap
The first component of the proposal will reportedly involve preliminary procedures, most significant of which is the annulment of the "Constitutional Declaration" enacted by the Houthi militias in February 2015, and reverse every subsequent change in state institutions as a result.

The second component involves the setting up of an internationally-backed military council consisting of military leaders who have not been involved in the war. It will also include the withdrawal of forces from Area A, which includes the capital Sanaa and the security belt around it, and the return of the government to the capital within two months.

According to the terms of the deal, when the Houthi militias withdraw from Sanaa and handing over their weapons, a national unity government will be formed, and it will issue a general amnesty and start a process of reconciliation.

The third component foresees a two-year transition period which will see the resumption of a political process.

International-UN-NGOs
United Nations Human Rights Council under attack
[Iraq Sun] GENEVA, Switzerland
...home of the Helvetians, famous for cheese, watches, yodeling, and William Tell...
- The Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations
...the Oyster Bay money pit...
Human Rights Council has launched an unprecedented attack on the body, arguing it has "an obsessive, compulsive disorder regarding Israel."

The attack on the council by Eviatar Manor, who has been Israel's ambassador to the UNHRC since August 2008, is the second in five days.

"You have an obsessive, compulsive disorder regarding Israel," Mr Manor told the UNHRC when he addressed it in Geneva on Tuesday on the second day of its 32nd session.

"Politicized debates, biased resolutions, preposterous reports, discriminatory conduct and unfounded accusations characterize the attitude of this Council and of the Office of the High Commissioner of Human Rights towards Israel."

"This Council’s priorities are wide off the mark,"the Israeli ambassador added.

"How is it, that it has an agenda item specifically dedicated to my country when the tragedies of Syria, Yemen, Iraq, Libya, to name but a few, are unfolding and producing a tsunami of refugees about to engulf Europe?" Manor asked.

"And you expect us to take you seriously?"

The Israeli envoy was taking exception to a statement by the High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein which was issued after the shootings in Tel Aviv last week which resulted in the deaths of five Israelis (4 killed at the scene, another, a woman, who died of a heart attack who was officially recognised on Tuesday by Israel's defense ministry as a victim of the attacks).

Zeid in condemning the attack also cautioned Israel on its response which included the cancellations of 83,000 travel permits, which the commissioner said could be described as "collective punishment."

Manor told the council all sovereign states have the right to regulate the entry of non-citizens into their country. "Furthermore, the terms of existing bilateral Israeli-Paleostinian agreements specifically affirm Israel's right to prevent or limit entry of persons into Israel from the West Bank and Gazoo for security and safety considerations," he said.

The ambassador said the council "has never cared for the human rights
...not to be confused with individual rights, mind you...
of Israelis."

He added the UNHRC "needs a moral compass."

"Think about it, and call me if you change your minds. You can find me at +972 -77-430-4703," Manor added.

The UNHRC commissioner in his opening address to the session on Monday, in noting the Israeli occupation had entered its 50th year last week, said tensions remain high across the Paleostinian territories and in Israel, and the risk of a further sudden escalation in violence remains very real.

"Violence is among the many consequences of this prolonged oppression, including and inexcusably against civilians on both sides. Both sides have seen civilians attacked recently, and I deplore those actions," Zeid said." The reactions of the Israeli authorities, in particular, instances of excessive use of force, have also been a cause for concern. I have reminded the Israeli Government of its obligations under international human rights and humanitarian law on a number of occasions. The increase in detention of Paleostinians this year, particularly in administrative detention without trial, is another serious concern. At the end of April there were almost 700 Paleostinian administrative detainees, more than double the figure at the end of September 2015 and the highest number since June 2008."
And then, having turned very blue in the face, he stopped to breath heavily for a few minutes before continuing interminably in the same vein.

-Short Attention Span Theater-
What is it like to fire an AR-15? It’s horrifying...
by Gersh Kuntzman

[NYDailyNews] It feels like a bazooka — and sounds like a cannon.
Seriously? I doubt you ever fired a bazooka, or the modern day equivalent, the AT-4 or even a LAWS rocket. Or been anywhere near the blast cone of a big gun, like the 105mm.
What piffle that person writes. The writer clearly has not been to a live performance of the 1812 Overture with real cannons, or even seen the Bugs Bunny version. Even in New York City such innocence of culture is astounding.
One day after 49 people were killed in the Orlando shooting, I traveled to Philadelphia to better understand the firepower of military-style assault weapons and, hopefully, explain their appeal to gun lovers.

But mostly, I was just terrified.
There's no hope for you.
I kind of enjoyed it. AR15's a nice little gun, though I'm fond of old-fashioned bolt actions. If I had the money and I still hunted I'd love to own a Kimber Mountain Ascent.
If I were in a position to do some shooting for a hobby I think the AR-15 is exactly what I'd get.
Many gun shops turned down our request to fire and discuss the AR-15, a style of semi-automatic rifle popular with mass killers such as San Bernardino terrorist Syed Farook and Orlando terrorist Omar Mateen.
They turned you down because of the extra effort to swab off the femininity of the writer touching it.
Does one need a gun license to be able to play with the toys?
But Frank Stelmach of Double Tap Shooting Range and Gun Shop invited me, videographer Michael Sheridan and reporter Adam Shrier to come down. Stelmach is not like many gun lovers. He admires his weaponry, yes, and has difficulty explaining why law-abiding citizens need a gun that can empty a 40-round clip in less than five seconds. But he also hates the idea that “bad people” get a hold of a gun like this and use it to kill without difficulty.
I'd be surprised to empty an entire 40-round magazine (not clip -- the bullets you put in the magazine come in a clip) in less than five seconds. I'd be even more surprised if I hit anything.
“There should be expanded background checks — extending into your family, friends and associates,” he said. “And there should be a mental health screening. In Europe, if you want to buy a gun, you have to see a doctor (for a psychiatric examination) to see if something’s not right.”
Euros love them some government..
That's if one wants to buy it legally. Those without scruples can simply pop into the train station in Brussels, according to the Washington Post, and hand over the requested sum. I s'pose I shouldn't be shocked the writer also has not read the Washington Post.
Stelmach, who opened his shop six years ago after a career in law enforcement in Europe, even calls for government officials to take away guns from some owners — something very few gun advocates support.
If he advocates theft and murder, which antigun advocates advocate, he is no gun advocate. He is instead a statist, just like the writer.
There are situations where a person should give up his/her/its/zer guns. Depression springs to mind. So does lunacy. I haven't been shooting in years because I can't see as well as I used to. But it was my choice to get rid of the guns.
He also said he never sells a gun to someone who “looks a little bit funny,” and he claimed he had prevented many guns from getting into the wrong hands because the would-be purchaser “asked stupid questions” like, “What happens to me if the gun is stolen?”
You mean like, what happens if you're a straw purchaser?
But very few gun shop owners do anything close to Stelmach’s sniff test — and he acknowledged how easy it is to find another gun shop owner willing to make the sale.
A shop owner doesn't get an awful lot of opportunity to diagnose depression or lunacy in his customers. It's more like:
"Hello. May I help you?"
"Yes, thank you. I'd like to buy a rifle."
"What did you have in mind?"
"Do you have anything in green?"

Very easy. In fact, as Philadelphia Daily News columnist Helen Ubinas showed today, you can get a military weapon in seven minutes in this country.
Military style. You can't legally buy an M16 or an AK47 or a Thompson submachinegun, even if you own a violin case.
Stelmach doesn’t think it should be easy. But he thinks it should be allowed.
The general public hasn't been allowed to buy a .50 caliber machine gun since the thirties, if I recall.
He loves the AR-15 for cops, soldiers, hunters and target shooters. “It’s fun to shoot something like that,” he said.
Its a nice gun. I find it's configured a little awkwardly to get a natural butt weld.
Not in my hands. I’ve shot pistols before, but never something like an AR-15. Squeeze lightly on the trigger and the resulting explosion of firepower is humbling and deafening (even with ear protection).
The AR-15 is loud to be sure.
I didn't think it was all that loud in comparison to .308. You can also buy one chambered in .308, which surprised me. I'll bet the .308 version's even louder.
The recoil bruised my shoulder.
It's built on a light frame, but when the M16 was introduced some of us described it as a ladies' gun. The M1 or the M14 had some kick to it. An afternoon at the range would leave you with some bruises to show. Take an old Mauser 98k and you might want to take the next day off.
The brass shell casings disoriented me as they flew past my face.
Must be left-handed. They eject to the right. They don't cross your face if you're right-handed. It's designed that way. They may even make left-handed models.
The Steyr Aug comes with an ambidextrous ejection port.
The smell of sulfur and destruction made me sick.
It's just gunpowder. It doesn't call up Lucifer or anything. It shoots a bullet. They say you can hit a target at 600 yards, though I never have. 300's about as good as my eyes got.
The explosions — loud like a bomb — gave me a temporary case of PTSD.
There's no such thing. Until you've been under significant artillery or your plane's been shot down quit being a frigging snowflake. L.S.M.F.T.
For at least an hour after firing the gun just a few times, I was anxious and irritable.
Funny, an hour after I get back from the gun range I am relaxed. As with any sport, your shoulder has to toughen up after firing any rifle a few times. I test fired an AR-15 I helped a friend build this past winter. I found the recoil to be like a kitten kicking. A Mosin-Nagant would probably kill this guy.
This is a guy? I thought it was a girl. Does he wear a skirt?
He refers to it as a "kilt"...
Even in semi-automatic mode, it is very simple to squeeze off two dozen rounds before you even know what has happened.
Only if you're an absolute dipshit. You gotta pull the trigger or nothing happens.
In fully automatic mode, it doesn’t take any imagination to see dozens of bodies falling in front of your barrel.
Problem. Even with semi automatic, the barrel climbs, making it difficult to keep it on your target. It takes training and discipline to keep just a semiautomatic on target whenever you rapid fire the rifle.
And the AR-15 doesn't have a fully automatic mode. The writer is an ignoramus.
All it takes is the will to do it.
Will is the key. It takes a special kind of asshole to gun down unarmed innocents and to keep doing it repeatedly for a couple of hours. It is the will to kill that did those people in The AR was just the tool.
Forty nine people can be gone in 60 seconds.
The only gun I still own is an old Marlin .22. It has a 15-round capacity. The fact that it's a gun doesn't mean I hold the lives of 15 people in my hands. It's a gun. A tool, to be used. I used a hammer today. It's also a tool. If I had used it to cave in someone's head I wouldn't have been using it properly.

#8  I've tried a number of different guns over the years. Never owned one 'cuz the wife didn't want one in the house with kids., now both over 30.

In the last year she's been telling me to get a license cause things are out of hand. To me that means that lots of folks are getting scared. No other reason is needed for the rise of Trump.

If this wussy wants something with a kick and a boom he should try a .50 sniper rifle. I shot it once at a gun club open house type event........oh my goodness. Now THAT's loud and has a real kick.

Also tried an M16, an old .30 carbine like my Dad carried in WWII (that's little more than a .22), an M1 Garand (liked that one) and a number of different pistols. The .45 had quite a kick but the .357 mag seemed to be worse.

#13  "People like Kuntzman should be traded to Europe for people constitutionally able to be Americans."

Herewith, a nomination for Snark Of The Day. Spot on!

Seriously, if you take a neurotic, hysterical, anxiety-wracked ninny like Kuntzman to a rifle range and hand him an AR-15 (or any other gun) and let him shoot it, of course he's going to be surprised: guns do go BANG! when they're fired, and all of them-- even small guns-- are very, very loud. That's why we wear ear protection while on the range. You want REALLY loud? Try a short-barreled .357 Magnum revolver.

As for recoil, few guns have LESS recoil than an AR-15 or other .223 Remington autoloader, in part because the .223 is a fairly light round to begin with but also because the recoil spring and other autoloading mechanism parts absorb much of the energy that would otherwise go into felt recoil.

You want REAL recoil? Again, try a short-barreled revolver chambered in .357 Mag-- preferably an ultralightweight model like the 11.4 oz. S&W Model 340PD. My son and I test-fired one of those, once. One shot for each of us was enough; it hurt like Hell.

But an AR-15? It doesn't even have enough recoil to disrupt your sight picture when taking follow-on shots.

Like Pappy said: an over-civilized twink.

Home Front: WoT
Champ Excoriates Republican Obsession With The Term '€˜Radical Islam'
[HUFFPOO] WASHINGTON -- President Barack Obama on Tuesday forcefully rebuked Republicans who have berated him for refusing to characterize lone wolf terror attacks by Muslim individuals as acts of "radical Islam."

Speaking from the Treasury Department two days after a Muslim man shot 49 people to death at a gay nightclub in Orlando after declaring allegiance to the self-described Islamic State group, the president challenged his detractors to identify a single tangible benefit of adjusting his choice of words to describe the attack.

"What exactly would using this label accomplish? What exactly would it change? Would it make ISIL less committed to try to kill Americans? Would it bring in more allies? Is there a military strategy that is served by this?" Obama asked rhetorically, using another name for the Islamic State.
That he asks that question demonstrates the depth to which he doesn't understand the question...
Wik: "Projection tends to come to the fore in normal people at times of crisis, personal or political but is more commonly found in the neurotic or psychotic in personalities functioning at a primitive level as in narcissistic personality disorder or borderline personality disorder."
Using the label would be honest, calling a spade a spade. It might change the way a certain percentage of the population looks at the WoT and at Moslems in general, Islamists in particular. It wouldn't make ISIS less committed to killing Americans, but it might help a certain type of snowflake not to come down with the vapors when a terrorist eats a Hellfire. It might emphasize to some other governments that whatever our differences with them, we have a mutual interest in wiping the scourge of ISIS, al-Qaeda, and similar groups from the face of the earth. If you're going to do something, you should say what it is, which will get you more support for a policy if it makes sense, booed and hissed if it's stupid. Probably when the idea first came up Eisenhower and Churchill were going to invade via France. After awhile it was Normandy. Then it came down to dividing the beaches. Precision in terminology supported the tactics and strategy worked out at all levels.

#2  Besoeker - To be honest Radical Islam is not correct either and does a disservice to the Shia...the true descriptor is Radical ahl as Sunnah Islam (Sunni). This ISIS and al Qaeda crew is the radical ahl as Sunnah in its purest form. This is how many Muslims themselves refer to it...not magical it just is what it is.

The small, arrogant President imagines himself nuanced...far from it...he is poorly prepared and further gets his advice from a close friend of the Sunni Wahabbis...Mr. Brennan.

This might indicate he's either a late sleeper, or he's making a last minute call for updates and guidance prior to his senseless bloviations. Painfully predictable and almost on cue, he nearly always defaults to racial injustice and discrimination or climate change as the common denominators of any political or social challenge.

You are dead right about Herr Brennan. Any likeness Brennan bears to Kahless the spiritual leader of the Klingon may not be coincidental. Brennan's latest reality altering spin appears to be the exoneration of the Magic Kingdom from anything 9/11 (missing 28 pages, etc).

Jerry Brown (D) on Friday signed into law a bill that directs the state to seek federal permission to allow undocumented immigrants to purchase health coverage from the state's exchange. The law would allow undocumented immigrants to purchase coverage from the exchange, called Covered California, if such a waiver is granted. However, undocumented immigrants would not be eligible for subsidies to help pay for exchange plan premiums. California would become the first state to extend exchange coverage to undocumented immigrants if the federal government grants such permission (White, "Capitol Alert," Sacramento Bee, 6/10; Karlamangla, Los Angeles Times, 6/10)."

Our World: Is ISIS a GOP franchise?
From the Jerusalem Post, a writer who gets it.
Is Islamic State opposed to gay marriage? Was anger at the US Supreme Court's decision mandating recognition of homosexual marriage what prompted Omar Mateen to massacre fifty Americans at the gay nightclub in Orlando on Saturday night? What about gun control? Is Islamic State, to which Mateen announced his allegiance as he mowed down innocents like blades of grass, a libertarian group that abhors limitations on private ownership of firearms? In other words, are Islamic State and its fellow jihadists from Iran to Hamas, Hezbollah, Boko Haram and al Qaida adjuncts of the Republican Party? Is Omar Baghdadi, the self-declared caliph at the helm of ISIS a social conservative, a libertarian and a card carrying member of the GOP, or just one of the three? Because President Barack Obama seems to think that this is the question most Americans should be asking. In his statement on the massacre on Sunday, Obama placed Mateen's action in the context the partisan debate on gay rights and gun control.

With regard to the former, Obama said that the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, which was the site of the attack was more than a mere nightclub. It was, "a place of solidarity and empowerment where people have come together to raise awareness, to speak their minds and to advocate for their civil rights." In other words, Obama intimated, the victims were murdered because Mateen opposed all of those things, specifically.

Turning to gun rights, Obama said, "The shooter was apparently armed with a handgun and a powerful assault rifle. This massacre is therefore a further reminder of how easy it is for someone to get their hands on a weapon that lets them shoot people in a school, or in a house of worship, or a movie theater, or in a nightclub. And we have to decide if that’s the kind of country we want to be. And to actively do nothing is a decision as well." So as the president sees things, if you oppose limitations on firearm ownership, then you're on Mateen's side.

Donald Trump says he would ban Afghan and Pakistani immigrants from US
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] Following a deadly attack on a gay nightclub in Florida, the US Presidential candidate Donald Trump has said he would ban the immigrants colonists from Afghanistan, Pakistain, and Syria.

He was speaking a day after an ISIS sympathizer killed at least 50 people by attacking the night club in Florida.

Trump said he would use the executive authority of the presidency to temporarily ban the entry of foreign Moslems from countries "where there is a proven history of terrorism against the United States, Europe, or our allies until we fully understand how to end these threats."

He also added that the immigration ban would would last until "we are in a position to properly screen these people coming into our country. They’re pouring in, and we don’t know what we’re doing."

According to Trump, the parents of the Florida gunman, Omar Mateen, 29, were born in Afghanistan while the parents of last year’s San Bernardino shooter, also an IS sympathizer, were from Pakistain while his wife and co-shooter was from Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
Trump indicated that all of those countries -- which are allies of the United States -- would be subject to his proposed immigration ban.

"Immigration from Afghanistan into the United States has increased nearly five-fold in just one year. According to Pew Research, 99 percent of people in Afghanistan support oppressive Shari’a law," he added.

He said "We admit many more from other countries in the region who share these same oppressive views. If we want to remain a free and open society, then we have to control our borders."

But now he's campaigning for the general election and apparently there are people in this country who are so inhibited by the cult of political correctness that Trump now feels the need to sound more "presidential". Anybody who knows anything understood all along that his proposals would have to be tempered by layers of lawyers and politicians. But he's the same guy and his policies will have the same effect, which we desperately need.

I agree with Trump on most of the conservative things he's said. The problem is that he's also said a lot of liberal things. But the principal reason he was at the bottom of my list of GOP candidates was the fact he is a scumbag in his personal and business conduct, and this kind of stuff comes out in political campaigns. He is unelectable in the general. Most people are not political junkies (i.e. caucus/primary voters). It matters whether someone is a scumbag. The GOP is on the verge of being crushed in November because we nominated a scumbag to be our Presidential candidate. I suppose it's a cleansing process. Primary voters need to be reminded every so often that electability is important.

Not even close. Trump operated csainos. This is essentially legal drug dealing - taking money from rubes and compulsive gamblers. It's legal, but definitely not ethical. Then there's the vtiamin scam and Trump U. Hillary is a liberal who cuts corners.

I've been following his antics since the 80's, and I've never thought he was a good person. At this stage I don't give a damn if he abuses his power in favor of right wing interests. What I fear is that he'll do it for left wing interests (i.e. a gun ban, with Democrats in tow) or for his personal pecuniary interests, thereby tarnishing the GOP brand for decades. I was against Trump as the nominee because he's always struck me as being too self-interested. But now that he is, I'll hold my nose to vote for him. But the fact is that most people who are repelled by this man will just save themselves a half-hour wait at the local poll location and experience a frisson of self-satisfaction from the look on Trump's face as he gets shellacked at the polls. I know that'll be my consolation prize.
Posted by: Zhang Fei || 06/15/2016 13:43 Comments || Top||

#17  The major problem with Trump is that he'll depress GOP and conservative turnout in a year that women voters will be out in force to put one of their own in the White House. The resulting blowout could make the Obama victory in 2008 look like a close election. If he doesn't do whatever it takes to get endorsements from GOP pols, he will be remembered as a modern-day Barry Goldwater, reborn as a sleazy, compulsive liar.

#24  Thanks for that link, ZF. I looked at it and, in typical WAPO/MSM style, it is long on verbiage and short on facts. Yes, yes, it quotes a lot of people saying a lot of bad things about Trump but the case is still in litigation and I'll wait for the final judgement. There is no doubt, of course, that the mainstream media is in a full court press about what a horrible scam the university was.
You have to dig a little deeper to find this:

or this:

Earlier this month, a group of senators sent a letter to Inspector General Kathleen Tighe raising concerns that the Dept. of Education’s probe into its student loans servicer’s compliance with the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA) was riddled with problems.

It doesn't matter that the Judge is a member of that legal organization, the article you provided even admits that "...Though the California organization is not officially affiliated with National Council of La Raza..."

And then there is this:

Trump botched the handling of Fields. It doesn't matter whether it was or wasn't a "flop" on her part. Your team says "Sorry, Miss" and everybody moves on. Instead he took unnecessary heat for nothing.

Between "conservatives" pretending they might vote Hillary and "conservatives" bringing up *badly* handled incidents from MONTHS ago, Trump certainly has his work cut out for him.

About the time Bill got appointed, Hillary as SoS made Laureate part of her Global Partnership in the DoS. Check Swhweizer's Clinton Cash--Chapter 7. The Clinton Foundation has done very little charitable work. Bill, Hillary and Chelsey seems to have benefitted the most in what seems to be a series of quid pro Quo relationship with other countries and individuals. Much of it is hard to prove but then again legal authorities have not taken a hard look. The Clinton Foundation is probably as big a scandal as Hillary's emails--probably the two are entwined. It will be interesting to see if the FBI comes up with anything. If one starts to look at all the left wing organizations and individuals and the Clintons and it is like a frigging octopus--lots of connecting tentacles.

Case registered against JUI-F senator for verbally abusing female analyst
[DAWN] The capital territory police on Tuesday started the paperwork but haven't done much else against Jamaat Ulema-e-Islam
...a pak religious party. It is usually part of the govt, never part of the solution...
(Fazl) Senator Hafiz Hamdullah, who allegedly misbehaved with rights activist Marvi Sirmed during a TV talk show a few days back.

The case was registered against Hafiz Hamdullah under Section 394, 506 at Kohsar cop shoppe over charges of threatening and misbehaving with a woman.

Police had delayed the filing of the case due to their failure to obtain footage of the show they wanted to watch before registering the report. But finally, after watching the footage of the said show, the case was registered.

According to the standard operating procedure (SOP), the Senate chairman had been informed about the incident, police claims.

Sirmed alleged that police were not cooperating with her and said that she had decided to approach a court to seek registration of her FIR.

The JUI-F senator has reportedly used abusive language against Sirmed during a television show last week, thus triggering uproar on social media.

The show aired on private television channel NewsOne was debating recent honour killings in Pakistain when JUI-F Senator Hafiz Hamdullah got angry over Sirmed for what he believed was her support for the comments of Barrister Masroor, a panelist in the programme, over a lack of reaction from the Council Of Islamic Ideology on these killings.

Hamdullah was of the view that Barrister Masroor should not have used the words 'pee k soey hue hain' (sleeping after getting intoxicated) for the CII chairman and his fellow JUI-F member Maulana Sherani.

"I won't allow you to speak if you are supporting his words," Hamdullah said to Sirmed.

The argument between Hamdullah and Sirmed resulted in an exchange of hot words between the rights activist and the politician.

The questionable language was omitted from the transmission. However,
a good lie finds more believers than a bad truth...
Sirmed in her Facebook post claimed that Hamdullah began verbally abusing her with the worst possible expletives and tried to physically attack her as well.

Meanwhile,
...back at the Council of Boskone, Kinnison began his slow infiltration of the sewer system...
Pakistain Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) has sent a notice to NewsOne for airing a heated verbal exchange ‐ including censored words/phrases ‐ between Hafiz Hamdullah and Marvi Sirmed on June 10.

The body called for, "an explanation defending the decision to air the exchange," by June 17, or the news organization could face a fine of Rs one million or cancellation of the talk show.

The notice, a copy of which is available with Dawn.com, accuses the talk show host of "not exercising control over the guests".

"The threats and insults were deliberately allowed to escalate to the point that Hafiz Hamdullah may have physically attacked Marvi Sirmed had another guest not intervened," said Pemra in its notice.

’Israel’ Elected to Head UN counter-Terrorism Committee
[ENGLISH.ALMANAR.LB] Israel, the most terrorist entity in the world, was elected to head the counter-terrorism committee at the upcoming United Nations General Assembly, despite intense efforts by Arab and Muslim states to stop the nomination.

In a secret ballot Monday in New York, the Zionist ambassador to the UN Danny Danon was elected chairman of the General Assembly’s Sixth (Legal) Committee.

The nomination had been slammed by various Arab organizations and parties as shameful and disrespectful to UN rules and bylaws.

This nomination encourages the occupation to continue its terrorist policies against the Arab people, they considered.

Pakistan may buy used F-16 jets from Jordan
[DAWN] Pakistain is considering a Jordanian offer to buy sixteen used F-16 jets in lieu of the eight advanced fighters it could not buy from the United States because of a financing row, but officials fear Washington could still throw a spanner in the works.

The case for the purchase of F-16s from the US is closed, "we are now going for a third party transfer of F-16s and have an offer from Jordan", Defence Secretary retired Lt Gen Alam Khattak told a joint sitting of the Senate committees on defence and foreign affairs, which had been asked by Senate Chairman Raza Rabbani to review the current state of Pak-US ties and suggest the way forward.
Jordan bought used jets from Israel, so they can now sell their old ones to Pakistan... and so Jordan will have more money to buy used equipment from Israel, who can use the funds to buy more new stuff from America. A new triangle trade, but no rum or slaves involved.

Rush Limbaugh says that Barack Obama sounds like a "defense lawyer" when he talks about terrorism committed by "militant Islamists."

Tuesday on "The Rush Limbaugh Show," Limbaugh commented on Obama’s speech where the president said ISIS fighters are "not religious warriors" but are "thugs" and "thieves."

Limbaugh argued that Obama went "into this protracted two-and-a-half minute segment on why it is irrelevant to call ’em militant Islamists and why he doesn’t use the term because it doesn’t any strategic value, you know what the guy sounded like? ... It sounds to me like it’s the way defense lawyers talk."

"You know, when there’s a suspect, you got a defense lawyer saying, ’Well, there’s no conclusive evidence here. We’re still looking for a motive. We haven’t found the right motive.’ Obama comes out after every one of these things, every one of these events, and Obama ends up sounding like defense lawyers speak on behalf of their clients," Limbaugh argued. Obama "doesn’t reflect the national mood about these things. It’s not even close."

Syrian army regulars recaptures oil field
[ARA News] HOMS – Subsequent to clashes with the Islamic State’s (ISIS) fighters, Syrian regime’s army forces on Tuesday gained control of the Arak oil field in the central province of Homs, official sources and activists reported.

The offensive started with the Russian warplanes launching a series of airstrikes on ISIS positions in the eastern countryside of Homs, coupled with artillery bombardment by the Syrian army on the group’s strongholds in the area.

“The Russian air cover and heavy bombardment by the army caused ISIS heavy losses in manpower and equipment,” Syrian army officer Firas Jabban told ARA News in Homs.

“The army then cleansed the entire area from ISIS terrorists and liberated the Arak oil field,” he added.

“There have been casualties on both sides,” local media activist Amro al-Hussein told ARA News over the phone. “ISIS’ withdrawal from the Arak field came due to the intensified Russian airstrikes, which opened to path for the regime’s forces to advance on the ground.”

FBI raid home of Orlando gunman's in-laws
As with other posts, mega-snip to the new stuff. The media is getting very repetitive, a sure sign that they're running out of things to say.
The family home of Noor Zahi Salman, the wife of Orlando killer Omar Mateen, 29, has been raided by the FBI.

Officers pulled up in a dark gray Dodge Challenger car at the address, in Rodeo, California, at approximately 3.15pm local time Tuesday.
"It was a dark and stormy night." Sheesh, but it's the Daily Mail...
The home is currently thought to be occupied by Zahi Salman, 50, and one of her daughters – both of whom were visible through the open door. Three FBI agents went inside the house. Two female agents were the first to approach the home, shout FBI, and enter to and speak to the occupants. They left after an hour and a half without comment.

Orlando shooter sought out Islamic State propaganda
Mega-snip to just the new stuff.
As the probe into the Orlando nightclub shooting broadened Tuesday, with investigators ranging as far afield as Afghanistan and Saudi Arabia, survivors recounted the gunman – whose parents are Afghan immigrants – telling them he had gone on a killing spree because he “wanted America to stop bombing his country.”
He was born in the U.S.A. This is his country...
Those developments emerged as investigators revealed that Omar Mateen, who killed 49 people Sunday in the worst mass shooting in modern American history, had increasingly sought out Islamic State videos and other radical Islamist propaganda in the months leading up to his murderous rampage. And FBI officials said he had made repeated visits to Disney properties in Florida and may have had assistance from his wife in organizing the attack on the Pulse nightclub.

Investigators are trying to retrace as much of Mateen's final weeks and months as possible in an effort to understand his motivation. Part of that involves collecting data from at least two cellphones used by Mateen, as well as other electronic media and email accounts, a U.S. law enforcement official said.

Disney properties are techno marvels in distributed control system centralization. Some of their marketing (like Home Depot: "hey gimme yoyr zipcode") is about their range of retail impact, so they track buyers. Because of the close proximity of Adults and Children there is also a lot of security video that gets scanned like a 'watch list' for known and new faces and packages. The demise of paper tickets for the rides also gives them 'in park' tracking tools with every ride gate or doorway a sensor platform for your electronic ticket.

Predator/Prey modeling has well established mobility patterns that are also used for stalker behavior identification in theme parks as well as grocery stores.

Kazakh interior minister links Aqtobe Attacks To Syria
[RFE/RL] Kazakhstan's top law enforcement official says officials believe that suspects in deadly attacks on June 5 in the northwestern city of Aqtobe were instructed or inspired by a radical Islamist leader based in Syria.

Interior Minister Qalmukhanbet Qasymov said on June 14 that around 45 people gathered in an Aqtobe apartment shortly before the attacks on two gun shops and a National Guard base. He said, "They heard an appeal from a so-called imam who told them to carry out a holy jihad and suggested that they act right now," adding that "the so-called imam apparently is from Syria."

Authorities say the death toll in the attacks and subsequent police operations is 26, including the assailants.

Qasymov said that the suspects had already been planning the attacks and "knew the potential targets, and knew how and where to go" before hearing the audio message before the attacks. He did not say whether the "so-called imam" was believed to be affiliated with Daesh or any other extremist group in Syria.

Nazarbaev has said the attackers, whom he called members of "pseudo-religious radical movements," had received instructions from abroad.

Kazakh officials say five civilians and three national guardsmen were killed in the attacks. The Committee for National Security has said that 18 suspected attackers have been killed by government security forces and nine arrested.

Qasymov said that authorities have established that the aim of the Aqtobe attacks was to obtain sophisticated weapons and target government institutions. He said seven of the suspected attackers had been known to authorities because of previous criminal records, while media sources said one suspect -- Alibek Berdybaev -- had been linked to a 2011 suicide attack in Aqtobe.

In December 2011, Berdybaev was found guilty of participating in a terrorist organization and was sentenced to three years in prison. He was sentenced along with 12 other defendants. Authorities say the suicide attack on May 17 was carried out by local man linked to Islamist extremists. They say the bomber was killed in that attack, which injured two other people.

Afghan among five suspects killed in Quetta
QUETTA: Five suspected militants, four of them belonging to two banned militant organisations and one to the Afghan intelligence agency NDS, were killed in a shootout with security forces in Quetta’s Chashma Achozai area on the night between Monday and Tuesday.

The provincial home department has confirmed the killings.

Official sources in the department told Dawn that after receiving intelligence about the presence of some militants in the area who were involved in suspicious activities a police party cordoned off the area.

After confirming that some militants were hiding in a compound, the police party immediately sent wireless messages to other law enforcement agencies. More personnel of police and other law enforcers reached the area.

As soon as security personnel tried to enter the compound, the militants opened fire, leaving one constable injured.

The security personnel returned fire and killed five attackers. The exchange of fire continued for several hours.

The police claimed that the Afghan spy had been living with members of the banned organisations, one of them a religious group, to help them carry out acts of terror in Quetta.

Four of the dead militants were identified as Najeeb, Aijaz, Yousaf and Abdul Khaliq. Their bodies were taken to a hospital in Quetta.

Weapons seized from the compound included Kalashnikovs, rocket-launchers, pistols, bombs and explosives.

Balochistan Home Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti told reporters that the militants were planning attacks in Quetta.

Police sources said that the militants had been involved in attacks on security personnel, including an attack on a police van in the Pakhtunabad area of Quetta a few days ago which had left eight police personnel dead. They were also involved in the killing of some FC personnel.

They said that some accomplices of the militants reportedly escaped from the compound during the exchange of fire.

Law enforcers cordoned off the area and were searching for them.
