RT:Soros gave Clinton step-by-step instructions on how to tackle Albania unrest – WikiLeaks email
An email leaked by WikiLeaks reveals that when Hillary Clinton
... sometimes described as For a good time at 3 a.m. call Hillary and at other times as Mrs. Bill, never as Another Bainbridge Colby ...
was US secretary of state in 2011, billionaire George Soros instructed her on how to handle unrest in Albania, stressing it "needs urgent attention at senior levels of the US government."
"Dear Hillary," begins the email dated January 24, 2011 from the founder of Open Society Foundations, Soros.

"A serious situation has arisen in Albania which needs urgent attention at senior levels of the US government. You may know that an opposition demonstration in Tirana on Friday resulted in the deaths of three people and the destruction of property," Soros says, according to the leaked email.

Three men were rubbed out as anti-government demonstrators clashed with police in the Albanian capital in late January of 2011. Supporters of the opposition Socialist Party refused to accept the results of a 2009 election, citing corruption and fraud, when then-Prime Minister Sali Berisha’s Democratic Party won by a thin margin. Berisha accused the opposition of attempting to provoke a Tunisia-style uprising, saying "the bastard children of Albania’s own Ben Alis conceived Tunisian scenarios."

"There are serious concerns about further unrest connected to a counter-demonstration to be organized by the governing party... and a follow-up event by the opposition two days later to memorialize the victims," Soros says.

"The prospect of tens of thousands of people entering the streets in an already inflamed political environment bodes ill for the return of public order and the country’s fragile democratic process," he adds.

"I believe two things need to be done urgently," he adds.

"1. Bring the full weight of the international community to bear on Prime Minister Berisha and opposition leader Edi Rama to forestall further public demonstrations and to tone down public pronouncements.

"The US and the EU must work in complete harmony over this, but given Albania’s European aspirations the EU must take the lead," he stressed, adding that his foundation in Tirana was "monitoring the situation closely and can provide independent analysis of the crisis."

Several days after the email was sent to Clinton, the EU did send one of Soros’ suggested nominees, Miroslav Lajcak, to meet Albanian leaders in Tirana to try to mediate an end to the unrest, Rooters reported.

CPD bags wrong bagwoman
A young Muslim woman on Thursday sued Chicago police who mistakenly identified her briefly as a potential "lone wolf" terrorist as she was leaving a city subway station last year on the Fourth of July wearing a headscarf, face veil and carrying a backpack.

Itemid Al-Matar says officers violated her civil rights by pulling off her religious garb as they arrested her on subway station stairs, then strip-searched her later at a police station, according to the federal lawsuit filed in Chicago on her behalf.

"Several (officers) ran up the stairs and grabbed the Plaintiff and threw her down upon the stair landing, then pulling at her and ripping off her hijab," it says.

Security-camera video made public shows several minutes of the arrest in the subway. Several officers can be seen pushing through a crowd on a stairway to reach Al-Matar, but soon move out of view of the camera.

The fact that Al-Matar was wearing a headscarf, known as a hijab, and the face veil, called a niqab, "was the impetus behind the actions" of the officers, the court filing alleges. In a statement Thursday, Phil Robertson, a lawyer for the Chicago chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, or CAIR, and a co-counsel in the civil case, argued that "blatant xenophobia, Islamophobia, and racial profiling" underpinned the officers' actions.

A police report filed the night of the incident says officers had been "on high alert of terrorist activity" on the Fourth of July holiday when they spotted Al-Matar exhibiting what they believed was "suspicious behavior," including walking at "a brisk pace, in a determined manner." It also says officers saw what they thought could be "incendiary devices" around her ankles and were also suspicious of her backpack, which was clutched to her chest.

"(Officers) believed that subject might be a lone wolf suicide bomber and decided to attempt to take subject into custody," it says.

A K-9 unit searched for explosive materials, the report says, "with negative results," while "the objects strapped around arrestee's ankles" turned out to be "ankle weights." But Al-Matar was still charged, including with obstructing justice after police accused her of resisting and refusing to comply with orders. She was acquitted on all charges at a state trial earlier this year.

Trump considering Darth Bolton as Secretary of State
[Bretibart] Donald Trump spoke Thursday on the "Hugh Hewitt Show" about his secretary of state selection, naming former U.N. Ambassador John Bolton as his potential secretary of state.

Trump was reluctant to name anybody now because of the heavy scrutiny they could face. Hewitt then asked about Bolton, and the GOP presidential nominee said he is a serious contender.

"I think John Bolton's a good man," Trump replied. "I watched him yesterday, actually, and he was very good in defending me in some of my views, and very, very strong. And I've always liked John Bolton. Well, we are thinking about it, Hugh. I will say that. We are thinking about it. I mean, the negative is what I told you. But we are seriously thinking about it."

Tourist towns of Phuket and Hua Hin in Thailand hit by deadly explosions
[Guardian] A series of apparently coordinated blasts detonated across Thailand has killed at least four people and injured dozens, including in the tourism hotspots of Hua Hin and Phuket.

The attacks took place late on Thursday and into Friday morning with Thai police being put on alert for further explosive devices.

The bombings have not been claimed by any group yet but Thai authorities were quick to blame "local sabotage" and rule out Islamist terrorism. "This is not a terrorist attack. It is just local sabotage that is restricted to limited areas and provinces," national police deputy spokesman Piyapan Pingmuang told reporters in Bangkok.

A Thai street vendor in Hua Hin was killed and at least 19 people were wounded, including seven foreigners, when two bombs hidden in plant pots exploded just before midnight on Thursday in a busy bar street.

#2  According to The Times of Israel, outside experts are pointing to the southern Muslim Malay insurgency, which technically makes this domestic rather than international.

Here's how they summarize explosions thus far:

Twin bombs exploded in the upscale resort of Hua Hin late Thursday, killing one woman and wounding more than 20 others, including nine foreign tourists, and were followed by two more on Friday morning that killed another person.

A further two blasts struck Friday at Patong Beach on the popular tourist island of Phuket, while two more bombs were reported in the southern towns of Trang and Surat Thani, in each of which one person was killed.

... analysts tentatively pointed the finger at Muslim insurgent groups in the south who have for years been fighting the Thai state.

Rand Paul: HRC Can Get 5 YEARS IN PRISON for Lying to Congress About Syrian Weapons (VIDEO)
[Gateway Pundit] Secretary of State Hillary Clinton knew that the US was sending arms from Libya to Syria back in 2011, a year before the Benghazi consulate attacks.

Hillary Clinton denied she knew about the weapons shipments during public testimony (under oath) in early 2013 after the Benghazi terrorist attack.

Senator Rand Paul questioned Hillary Clinton about this gun running program back in January 2013 during her testimony on the Benghazi terrorist attack.

Lengthy article and comments.

#4  HRC is a serial liar but it is the political season and both House and some Senate members are running for re-election. Nothing is going to happen at this time. As long as the Donks have control of the executive branch, DOJ's Lynch is going to block anything to do with Hillary getting 5 years. Throw in a complicit, wastrel MSM and you've got them blocking any truth about Hillary. However, I'm not sure the Pubs would do anything if they had a super majority and the executive branch--something about cojones and not wanting to rock the boat of their cozy beltway arrangement.

Having had years, no decades to map it all out, why would you have not included a few pubs in the sharing of the spoils and benefits? Sort of an insurance policy.

Could the sudden appearance of 50 GOP national security experts coming out against Trump be of any possible assistance ?

Donald Trump Makes A Return Visit
h/t Instapundit
HH: And I’m pleased now to welcome Donald Trump. Mr. Trump, welcome back to the Hugh Hewitt Show.

...HH: All right, let me move on, then. Clinton is using against you an ad called Too Dangerous. I’ve seen it. If I’ve seen it once, I’ve seen it 20 times already. Are you too dangerous to be president, Donald Trump?
DT: No, the opposite. She is. If you look at her, and you listen to the Secret Service agent that wrote the book, she’s a mess, a total mess. And she’ll do an event, and then you don’t hear from her. I think she goes home, she goes to sleep.

...HH: All right, now my colleague, this too dangerous attack does stick. It’s what they used against Barry Goldwater. My colleague, Robert O’Brien, argued over at Real Clear Politics this week that the way you blunt that is to name who’s going to be your Secretary of State and Secretary of Defense, and O’Brien suggested John Bolton for State and Jim Talent for Defense. Despite what some people say, that’s not illegal. It’s perfectly acceptable. It would help you tremendously. Will you name your SecDef and your Secretary of State?
DT: Well, it is not illegal. It’s seldom done, surprisingly, but it is not illegal by any stretch, and surprisingly seldom done. And it’s one of the things I wonder about. Why is it so little done? And I was actually given a very good answer, because once you name somebody, they attack that person viciously, whereas if you don’t and you win, and then you put the same person in, nobody cares. So if you name, you know, pick a good name and there are plenty of them, we pick a good name, we put them into a position, everybody’s happy, that person for the next 90 days gets attacked viciously. That’s why people haven’t traditionally done that. Does that make sense to you?

...HH: I don’t. I think I would say they created, they lost the peace. They created the Libyan vacuum, they created the vacuum into which ISIS came, but they didn’t create ISIS. That’s what I would say.
DT: Well, I disagree.
HH: All right, that’s okay.
DT: I mean, with his bad policies, that’s why ISIS came about.
HH: That’s...
DT: If he would have done things properly, you wouldn’t have had ISIS.
HH: That’s true.
DT: Therefore, he was the founder of ISIS.
HH: And that’s, I’d just use different language to communicate it, but let me close with this, because I know I’m keeping you long, and Hope’s going to kill me.
DT: But they wouldn’t talk about your language, and they do talk about my language, right?

Did The FBI Nearly Investigate The Clinton Foundation Because Of This Mysterious Chinese Billionaire?
[Daily Caller] A Clinton Foundation donor's financial activity was suspicious enough for FBI and Justice Department officials to meet earlier this year to consider opening an investigation into the Clinton family charity.

And while the donor has not been identified, details from a CNN report about the meeting raise the strong possibility that the individual is a Chinese billionaire who gave the Clinton Foundation $2 million in 2013 and also contributed $120,000 to Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe’s gubernatorial campaign that same year.

That donor is Wang Wenliang, a former delegate to the Chinese parliament. He controls several Chinese firms, including Rilin Enterprises and Dandong Port Co.

According to CNN’s report, the FBI considered investigating the Clinton Foundation after a bank flagged one of the charity’s donor for "suspicious activity."
Guardian: McAuliffe and Wenliang visit Hillary House.

Hack of Democrats' Accounts Was Wider Than Believed, Officials Say
[NYT] WASHINGTON -- A Russian cyberattack that targeted Democratic politicians was bigger than it first appeared and breached the private email accounts of more than 100 party officials and groups, officials with knowledge of the case said Wednesday.

The widening scope of the attack has prompted the F.B.I. to broaden its investigation, and agents have begun notifying a long list of Democratic officials that the Russians may have breached their personal accounts.

The main targets appear to have been the personal email accounts of Hillary Clinton’s campaign officials and party operatives, along with a number of party organizations.

Officials have acknowledged that the Russian hackers gained access to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, which is the fund-raising arm for House Democrats, and to the Democratic National Committee, including a D.N.C. voter analytics program used by Mrs. Clinton’s presidential campaign.

But the hack now appears to have extended well beyond those groups, and organizations like the Democratic Governors’ Association may also have been affected, according to Democrats involved in the investigation. However, in a statement Thursday, the governors association said it "was informed that our analytics data was not compromised as part of the D.N.C. breach that affected the Clinton campaign."

The group added that "we have no reason to believe that any D.G.A. emails were compromised by the D.N.C. breach."

Democrats say they are bracing for the possibility that another batch of damaging or embarrassing internal material could become public before the November presidential election.

The attack has already proved politically damaging. On the eve of the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia last month, Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz resigned as D.N.C. chairwoman after WikiLeaks released a trove of hacked internal emails showing party officials eager for Mrs. Clinton to win the nomination over Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont.

American intelligence agencies have said they have "high confidence" that the attack was the work of Russian intelligence agencies. It has injected a heavy dose of international intrigue into an already chaotic presidential campaign as Democrats have alleged that the Russians are trying to help tilt the election toward the Republican nominee, Donald J. Trump.

Joint FBI-US Attorney Probe Of Clinton Foundation Is Underway
[Daily Caller] Multiple FBI investigations are underway involving potential corruption charges against the Clinton Foundation, according to a former senior law enforcement official.

The investigation centers on New York City, where the Clinton Foundation has its main offices, according to the former official who has direct knowledge of the activities.

Prosecutorial support will come from various U.S. Attorneys Offices -- a major departure from other centralized FBI investigations.

The New York-based probe is being led by Preet Bharara, the U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York. Bharara’s prosecutorial aggressiveness has resulted in a large number of convictions of banks, hedge funds and Wall Street insiders.

Russia's ‘Secret Mercenaries' Fighting Rebels, U.S. Troops in Syria
[Breitbart] Russia is secretly using mercenaries to combat rebels and U.S. forces on the ground in Syria on behalf of Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad, Sky News reveals, citing young Russians who claim they were hired to fight in the Middle Eastern country by a private military company ran by a Nazi aficionado.

The United States is backing some Syrian rebels who have been previously targeted by Russia.

Two young Russians, identified by the noms de guerre of Alexander and Dmitry, related their mercenary experience in Syria to Sky News.

"It’s 50-50," declared Alexander, noting that he was lucky to be alive. "Most people who go there for the money end up dead. Those who fight for ideals, to fight against the Americans, American special-forces, some ideology -- they have a better chance of survival."

Several FBI Field Offices' Pushed DOJ to Probe Clinton Foundation After ‘Clinton Cash'
[Breitbart] While the federal investigation into Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server while she was Secretary of State was underway, "several FBI field offices" asked the Justice Department to investigate the murky connections between the State Department and the Clinton Foundation, but were shutdown, according to a report by CNN.
"Several FBI field offices approached the Justice Department asking to open a case regarding the relationship between the State Department and the Clinton Foundation, according to a law enforcement official," CNN said late Wednesday.

"At the time, DOJ declined because it had looked into allegations surrounding the Clinton Foundation around a year earlier and found there wasn’t sufficient evidence to open a case," the report continued.

Federal officials were urging the Justice Department to expanded its probe to the Clinton Foundation following the release of The New York Times bestselling book Clinton Cash, authored by Breitbart News Senior Editor-at-Large Peter Schweizer. Clinton Cash first revealed the global nexus of influence peddling involving million dollar donations from foreign entities to the Clinton Foundation that often coincided with favorable State Department actions while Hillary Clinton was Secretary of State.

#1  At this point Loretta Lynch is obstructing justice rather than furthering it--the worst kind of political hack. Some pundit recently said they yearned for the Eric Holder days. I can't get on board for that. Holder was held in criminal and civil of Congress for lying--another obstructionist of the law.

AP Reporter Confronts DoS on HRC Foundation: ‘Am I Not Speaking English?'
[Breitbart] During Wednesday's State Department press briefing, Associated Press Diplomatic Writer Matt Lee asked State Department Press Office Director Elizabeth Trudeau "am I not speaking English?" During a line of questioning about improper relationships between the Clinton Foundation and the State Department.

Trudeau was asked by NBC News State Department Producer Abigail Williams, [relevant remarks begin around 13:15] "Do you have any response to criticism by some that suggest there was a relationship between the Clinton Foundation and the State Department at the time? There was an email that came out in this recent set that is between the -- an executive at the Clinton Foundation and Huma Abedin and Cheryl Mills where he is requesting to set up a meeting between a billionaire donor and the US ambassador to Lebanon."

Trudeau responded that she wasn't "going to speak to specific emails." But that "State Department officials are regularly in touch with a wide variety of outside individuals and organizations, including businesses, nonprofits, NGOs, think tanks. You know, the nearly 55,000 pages of former Secretary Clinton's emails released by the department over the past year give a sense of the wide range of individuals both inside and outside of government that State Department officials are in contact with on a range of subjects."

Williams followed up, "So you don't feel like this email -- or you don't feel like there was impropriety in the relationship between the Clinton Foundation and the State Department at the time?"

Very sad state of affairs.I am beginning to see a scenario where an Obama third term could become a reality.

Ukraine Says Blocked Jihadist Routes to Syria
[AnNahar] Ukraine's security service said on Thursday it had blocked channels being used by jihadists traveling to fight with the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group in Syria and Iraq and detained an "IS recruiter" from one of the former Soviet republics.

"The Ukranian security service, prosecutor's office, police and migration service have blocked several channels for the transit of imported muscle to the IS international terrorist group through our state's territory," the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) said in a statement.

The discovery was made in a wave of security sweeps across several major cities.

The SBU said an apartment in the government-held northeastern city of Kharkiv was being used as a temporary shelter by alleged IS members who intended to travel to both Syria and Iraq.

"This 'transit point' had four foreign nationals from Central Asian states," it said.

"Two of them had been earlier deported from The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
in connection with their involvement in terrorist activity."

- 'IS recruiter' -
The SBU said they held several fake passports from various countries and two of them had been waiting to receive forged Ukrainian documents so they could enter Syria through Turkey.

The Ukrainian service said the four were being financed and assisted by foreign countries but did not reveal which ones.

"Two of the foreigners have already been expelled from the territory of our state," the SBU statement said.

"Investigations into the other two are continuing."

The SBU added that it had also detained an "IS recruiter from one of the former Soviet republics that was being sought by Interpol" pan-European police organization.

It said that security agents had detained another "IS supporter" in the Kiev region who had undergone training in "Syrian terrorist camps."

The unnamed individual is facing a court hearing and has not yet been charged.

Ukraine has been riven by a 27-month pro-Moscow insurgency in its industrial east that has claimed the lives of more than 9,500 people and left around 400 kilometers (250 miles) of its southeastern border with Russia under rebel control.

The SBU previously said it detained four alleged IS fighters headed for Europe from Central Asia and Russia in January and June.

Ukraine's security service has been under pressure to show its strength as the pro-Western government in Kiev tries to meet President Petro Poroshenko's pledge to apply for EU membership by 2020.

Some EU nations and leaders have called the bid far too optimistic because Ukraine not only lacks control of its separatist east and the Russian-annexed Crimea peninsula but also remains riddled with other security threats.

One of these appears to the increasing use of Ukraine and its mostly non-existent borders to ship IS fighters to stage attacks in Europe or join the group in Syria and Iraq.

The SBU said it had detained an "IS recruiter from one of the former Soviet republics that was being sought by Interpol" pan-European police organization.

It added that security agents had detained another "IS supporter" in the Kiev region who had undergone training in "Syrian terrorist camps."

The unnamed individual is facing a court hearing and has not yet been charged.

Iraq
Iraq Kurds Say IS Financier Killed in Joint Raid with U.S.
[AnNahar] Kurdish authorities said their troops conducted a joint raid with U.S. forces Thursday, killing a jihadist financier near a western Iraqi town that is far from where they usually operate.

"A joint operation was conducted by our Directorate General of Counter Terrorism and U.S. Special Forces in the vicinity of al-Qaim near the Iraqi-Syrian border," the Kurdish Regional Security Council said in a statement.

It said the raid killed Sami Jassem Mohammed al-Juburi, a man sanctioned by the U.S. Treasury Department for supervising operations to fund the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group, including via the sale of oil and gas.

The statement did not specify the exact location of the operation.

The U.S.-led anti-IS coalition confirmed its forces had taken part in a joint raid in Iraq on Thursday.

"Coalition forces conducted a combined operation in Iraq, Aug. 11, against an (IS) associated target," the coalition said in a statement emailed to AFP.

"We are assessing the results of the operation," the statement said, adding that "the mission was effectively coordinated with the government of Iraq and conducted in partnership with Iraqi security forces."

Al-Qaim is located more than 200 kilometers (125 miles) from the closest Kurdish lines, and a raid involving Kurdish forces in the area has the potential to anger Iraq's federal government.

Baghdad is at odds with the country's autonomous Kurdish region over long-running disputes about resources and territory.

U.S. special forces also conducted a joint raid with Kurdish troops against IS in Iraq's Kirkuk province last year -- an operation in which an American soldier was killed.

That raid was also politically sensitive, as it involved Kurdish forces affiliated with the ruling Kurdistan Democratic Party operating in Kirkuk,
... a thick stew of Arabs, Turkmen, Kurds, and probably Antarcticans, all of them mutually hostile most of the time...
where the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, a party that has its own troops, holds power.

Beginning of the end for Sinai militant groups: Expert and ex-jihadist Nageh Ibrahim
[AlAhram] Under intense pressure from Egyptian security forces, the Islamic State group affiliate in Sinai, Ansar Beit El-Maqdis, is virtually a spent force, says jihadist expert

Nageh Ibrahim, an expert on Islamist bully boy groups and a former jihadist, said in an interview with Ahram Online that the holy warrior group Ansar Beit El-Maqdas is "having its last throes," as the group has become quite weak during the past year.

"It cannot undertake big operations, such as the bombing of government buildings, like the bombing of the military intelligence building previously ... or massacre, or conduct operations outside Sinai."

"Instead, it has resorted to boom-mobiles or suicide kabooms, which were mostly handled well [by Egyptian security forces]."

Last Thursday, the Egyptian armed forces announced the killing of Ansar Beit Al-Maqdis leader Abu Doaa Al-Ansari and a number of his associates in air strikes.

Ibrahim, who was one of the founders of Al-Gamaa Al-Islamiya, said "this is the beginning of the end of the group."

Ansar Beit El-Maqdis lost control over the five main elements any such group depends on, as its human resources, finances, arms gathering capacity, communication network and mobility have all come under immense pressure while the group is not being able to recruit from Libya or the Gazoo Strip, Ibrahim explained.

Two weeks ago, Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(IS) group in Iraq and Syria released a recording on several operations of Ansar Beit Al-Maqdis group. According to analysis of the recording, the speaker is Abu Mohammed El-Anani who is not the usual front man of the group in Sinai, evidence that the group's network has been disrupted.

Ansar Beit El-Maqdis group, which originated in Sinai and grabbed credit for most of the attacks against security personnel and installations in Sinai, pledged allegiance to IS in Iraq and Syria and its leader, Abu Bakr El-Baghdadi, in November 2015.

Ibrahim contends that not only is the IS-affiliated group in Egypt losing ground, but the Islamic State group itself is losing ground in Iraq, Syria and Libya.

"We are witnessing the international demise of the [IS] group."

"It was not only religiously and morally stupid; it was politically stupid as well," Ibrahim added, adding that the group claimed to be supporting the Sunnis in Iraq, yet caused further US/UK intervention in Iraq, as well as Iran's intervention in Syria.

Ibrahim also remarked that it is the first group to include outlaws, including drugs dealers, arms dealers and convicted felons.

"The future scenario is that IS group will fall in time," Ibrahim argued.

However,
a clean conscience makes a soft pillow...
he said that the role of the state -- particularly Egypt -- is important. It should not "focus on security at the expense other things, such as overall development of Sinai."

Terrorist groups previously used the situation in neighbouring Gazoo and Israel as a pretext, as happened with the three largest bombings that took place under former President Hosni Mubarak
...The former President-for-Life of Egypt, dumped by popular demand in early 2011...
, in Sharm El-Sheikh, Dahab and Taba, he elaborated.

"What is required from the state is to address the effect of past battles, change the situation and improves the living conditions of the people, rather than just the tightening security," Ibrahim concluded.

Mississippi woman gets 12 years for trying to aid ISIS
[Ynet] A US judge on Thursday sentenced a Mississippi woman to 12 years in prison for providing material support to ISIS after she and her husband conspired with an undercover FBI employee to travel to Syria and aid the group's media campaign.

Jaelyn Delshaun Young, 20, had pleaded guilty to one count in March as did her co-defendant and husband, Muhammad Oda Dakhlalla, 23.

Judge Sharion Aycock of the Northern District of Mississippi imposed a 12-year sentence and ordered Young to serve 15 years of supervised release once she is released from prison, the US Justice Department said in a statement.
A slightly earlier Ynet article added:

group as her honeymoon is scheduled to be sentenced on terrorism charges.

Young faces up to 20 years in prison, $250,000 in fines and lifetime probation.

Her fiance, Muhammad Dakhlalla, pleaded guilty March 11 to a similar charge and is scheduled for sentencing Aug. 24. Prosecutors have said Young, who converted to Islam while studying at Mississippi State University, prodded Dakhlalla into the plan.

Jewish man lightly-to-moderately hurt in stabbing in East Jerusalem
Slow day...
[Ynet] The 26-year-old man suffered stab wounds to his upper body; he was attacked, apparently by an Arab, while leaving the Mount of Olives cemetery; attacker escapes scene.

A 26-year-old Jewish man was lightly-to-moderately maimed in a stabbing at the East Jerusalem neighborhood of At-Tur on Thursday afternoon, while his attacker managed to get away.

Police said the young man, who was leaving the Mount of Olives cemetery and heading towards the bus stop, was attacked and pushed to the ground, apparently by an Arab, and stabbed in the back and neck, reportedly with a screwdriver. The attacker then expeditiously departed at a goodly pace.

The maimed man boarded a bus that drove to the nearby police and Border Police post near Beit Hahoshen, where he got off and reported the incident to the officers. They gave him initial medical treatment and called Magen David Adom to provide him with further care, as well as additional police force to search for the attacker.

The man arrived at the Hadassah Medical Center at Jerusalem's Mount Scopus for treatment in light and stable condition.

Caribbean-Latin America
Panama Agrees to Help Migrants Head on for U.S.
[AnNahar] Panama promised Tuesday to help hundreds of migrants colonists who have crossed its jungle border from Colombia to carry on toward the United States.

President Juan Carlos Varela said Panama would make an exception to its immigration restrictions for migrants colonists who have recently crossed into Panama's Darien jungle.

"The border will remain closed to irregular migrants colonists, but those that are using these points to cross and have already reached our territory will be given humanitarian assistance so they can continue on their way," he said.

"Panama will not allow anyone who has crossed into our country to die on our territory," he added, in a public speech.

Around 800 U.S.-bound migrants colonists, most of them from Haiti, Africa, Asia and Cuba, are in dense jungle on the Panama-Colombia border, Varela said Friday.

He described it as "another migration crisis."

A further 2,500 are stranded in Panama's northern neighbor, Costa Rica, since the next country on the trail, Nicaragua, has tightened immigration controls.

Colombian authorities say they have deported thousands of migrants colonists trying to reach Panama from its northern territory.

Varela said last week that many of the migrants colonists were Haitians who had gone to Brazil after a 2010 earthquake devastated their country.

Brazil's current deep recession has driven them to try to get to the United States through Central America.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Report: Fugitives in Ain el-Hilweh Successively Surrendering
[AnNahar] Some promising developments have emerged lately in the Paleostinian refugee camp of Ein el-Hellhole after several runaways, who sought refuge in the camp, turned themselves in to the army intelligence the recent was Mohammed Taha, son of Tawfiq Taha the commander of Abdullah Azzam Brigades
... Leb's current al-Qaeda affiliate, named after a guy whose car the current head of al-Qaeda had boomed...
and another runaway of the Darwish family, al-Mustaqbal
... the Future Movement, political party led by Saad Hariri...
daily reported on Tuesday.

Paleostinian sources following up closely on the issue, assured that more runaways will turn themselves in and that the army checkpoints that were erected at the entrances to the camp saw nine runaways surrender in less than two weeks.

There are around 600 people of different nationalities inside the camp classified as wanted by the Lebanese authorities.
They added that there are around 600 people of different nationalities inside the camp classified as wanted by the Lebanese authorities. They did not rule out the prospect that high-risk runaways might consider turning themselves in "since the time is more appropriate than ever."

The daily said it obtained information that "some of these runaways have opened channels with Paleostinian and Lebanese parties in order to test the waters."

A senior Paleostinian official pointed out that the wave of surrenders can only be seen as positive since it vents the security pressure that has been burdening the camp and its residents. It heralds for a new and advanced stage of Lebanese-Paleostinian cooperation in countering any attempts that aim to shake the security situation in the camp, or use it as a conduit to harm Leb's stability and safety.

The official added that what is happening in Ein el-Hellhole delivers a two-target message: towards Leb's neighboring countries that the camp has been sprung of guilt of being a harbor for runaways, and a reassurance message to runaways, who wish to surrender, that the opportunity became available to them today more than ever.

However,
those who apply themselves too closely to little things often become incapable of great things...
some factors have contributed in encouraging the runaways to surrender, most notably the good treatment given by the army to the detained in addition to the psychological and social pressures and the dire living conditions they experience in the camp.
I don't recall -- is Ein al Hellhole the Palestinian "refugee camp" that ISIS was gradually taking over, or was it a different one in Lebanon?

Blasts around Thailand kill 2 and injure scores
[SouthAfricaToday] Two people were killed and many others seriously injured in separate blasts in southern Thailand, police said on Friday.

Two blasts took place separately in Hua Hin beach resort, killing one person and injuring 22 others, including foreign travelers Thursday night. The blasts were remotely detonated by unknown bombers, police said.

The victim was identified as a Thai female while the injured included 10 foreigners, mostly Europeans, who were rushed to hospitals in the world-famous seaside city, police said.

Meanwhile, one person was killed and several others slightly injured in a blast in the southern Thai province of Surat Thani on Friday morning. The explosion took place outside a provincial marine police unit and the victim was identified as a 52-year-old Thai female.

Blasts also took place in the southern Phuket Province Friday morning, injuring a motorcycle driver.

The police neither confirm nor deny the possibility that the rare bombing incidents might have been connected with Thailand’s current political situation.

Last Sunday’s nationwide referendum secured public consent to a new constitution under support of the military-led government.

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
Russia Says Raids Shut Down IS-Linked Internet Group
[AnNahar] The Russian security agency said Thursday it found weapons and explosives after raiding a string of locations in central Russia to shut down an online group spreading propaganda for Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
jihadists.

The FSB security service and the police "identified and thwarted" the activities of cells belonging to an international internet community "created for the propaganda of terrorist ideology and recruiting of fighters for the Islamic State", the FSB said in a statement.

The cells were based in Russia's central Sverdlovsk, Tyumen and Chelyabinsk regions, where the FSB said it conducted 27 searches Wednesday at the homes of alleged members, seizing computers and mobile phones containing jihadist propaganda material as well as pistols, hand grenades and explosives.

The FSB said that criminal cases have been opened against the alleged leader of one the cells and three members, whose online community uses the Tajik language, the state language of the Central Asian ex-Soviet republic of Tajikistan.

It also said the online community has more than 100,000 members spread throughout the former Soviet republics of Central Asia and the Middle East.
That sounds like a lot...
The FSB said in February it had detained seven alleged IS members in the Sverdlovsk region who were plotting to carry out terror attacks in major Russian cities, including Moscow and Saint Petersburg.

Both IS and Al-Qaeda's Syrian affiliate Al-Nusra Front have called for attacks in Russia in response to Moscow's bombing campaign in support of Syrian Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Oppressor of the Syrians and the Lebs...
IS has already claimed a number of attacks on Russian soil, including a deadly shooting at an ancient citadel in Russia's volatile North Caucasus region of Dagestan
...a formerly inoffensive Caucasus republic currently bedevilled by low-level Islamic insurgency, occasional outbreaks of separatism, ethnic tensions and terrorism, primarily due to its proximity to Chechnya. There are several dozen ethnic groups, most of which speak either Caucasian, Turkic, or Iranian languages. Largest among these ethnic groups are the Avar, Dargin, Kumyk, Lezgin, and Laks. While Russers form less than five percent of the population, Russian remains the primary official language and the lingua franca...
last year.

Moscow has said part of the reason why it launched a bombing campaign in Syria last year was to prevent IS jihadists and other turbans from perpetrating attacks in Russia.

According to FSB figures released in December, nearly 2,900 Russians are fighting or have fought with the jihadists in Iraq and Syria.

Afghanistan
Explosion in Herat leaves 4 dead, 9 others wounded
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] At least five people were killed in an kaboom in western Herat
...a venerable old Persian-speaking city in western Afghanistan, populated mostly by Tadjiks, which is why it's not as blood-soaked as areas controlled by Pashtuns...
province of Afghanistan this afternoon, local government officials said.

Provincial governor’s front man Jilani Farhad said the incident took place in Shindand district Bazaar, leaving at least two soldiers and three civilians dead.

He said the incident took place after a cycle of violence packed with explosives exploded close to a security post.

No group including the Talibs has so far grabbed credit behind the incident.

Taliban forces of Evil are active in a number of remote districts of Herat province including Shindand which often witnesses violence.

This comes as at least three Afghan soldiers and two civilians were maimed in an kaboom in Herat city earlier this month.

The incident on 3rd August took place after a magnetic bomb planted in a vehicle of the Afghan National Army (ANA) forces exploded.

80 casualties in Russian air raids on Raqqa
RAQQA – Russian warplanes launched Thursday at least 12 airstrikes on the city of Raqqa in northeastern Syria, which is held by the Islamic State militant group (ISIS), killing and wounding dozens, including civilians.

Local sources reported the death of more than 30 people, mostly civilians. The informed sources added that at least 50 others were wounded in the airstrikes on Thursday.

“The Russian air force bombed Raqqa with some 12 airstrikes today, most of them hit populated neighbourhoods and a crowded marketplace,” rights activist Abdullah al-Munassib told ARA News, adding that only few ISIS militants were killed in the raids.

M.Z., a spokesman for the campaign “Raqqa Is Being Slaughtered Silently” (RBSS) that documents violations against civilians in the province, said that 9 airstrikes out of 12 hit residential buildings and crowded neighbourhoods.

“More than 30 people were killed, including children and women, and 52 others were injured. Those were all civilians. While ISIS has only lost a few militants in the raids that targeted one of its bases in Raqqa,” the spokesman told ARA News.
ISIS does love their human shields -- living or dead, they soak up munitions nicely, poor things. Thus the blame is clear: it's not the Russians, O stupid spokesman.
“The Russians apparently do not care about the civilian losses in such operations. Targeting a crowded marketplace and populated districts in unjustifiable,” he said.

In the meantime, activists reported that local rescue teams continued to search for victims under the rubble.

US aircraft hammers ISIS troops in Manbij
[ARA News] MANBIJ – A spokesman for the US-led coalition against the Islamic State (ISIS) told ARA News on Friday that they did not stop airstrikes inside the Syrian border city of Manbij.

After the notable gains by the western-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in Manbij over the past two months, the ISIS militants now only control 5 per cent of the city.

Cuhaid, 43, a fighter of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), told ARA News that it’s difficult to hit the last positions of ISIS inside the city. “We don’t shoot at them, and the airstrikes don’t hit them, because they [ISIS] use the people like a shield to impede our advance,” he said. “Because the ISIS-held area is very small, so we just fight by guns.”

However, a spokesman for the US-led coalition said that airstrikes haven’t stopped in Manbij city.

“We have not stopped striking the city. We still apply our controls for avoiding civilian casualties, so as the fighting gets closer in to the city, the more careful we may be about particular strikes,” coalition spokesman Colonel Chris Garver told ARA News.

The US coalition said that on Wednesday 15 airstrikes hit ISIS units. “Near Manbij, 15 strikes struck 14 separate ISIL tactical units and destroyed eight ISIL fighting positions, six ISIL vehicles, an ISIL heavy machine gun, and an ISIL vehicle borne improvised explosive device,” the coalition said, using another acronym for ISIS.

According to SDF sources over 200 ISIS fighters were killed since Wednesday in attempts to break the siege on Manbij.

Moreover, Salih Muslim, the co-head of the Kurdish Democratic Union Party in Syria (PYD) told ARA News on Thursday that the news reports that claim civilians were killed in US-led coalition airstrikes in Manbij “are not true”.

“Those are merely rumours, because the airstrikes are very careful to not hurt any civilians. Some parties spread such rumours in a bid to slow down these airstrikes, or to stop them,” the PYD head said.

Turkish warbirds kill Kurd kommie kommanders
(IraqiNews.com) Erbil – Turkish warplanes today carried out a number of air strikes on the headquarters of Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) in northern Iraq.

Sharing details a military source said, “Turkish warplanes attacked PKK rebels in the Sinath-Haftanin region at northern Iraq, resulting in the death of a number of Kurdish fighters.”

“The strikes followed a PKK attack on Turkish soldiers in Uludere, Sirnak province, in which four soldiers were killed and nine injured,” the source added.

Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) resumed its 30-year armed campaign against Turkey in July 2015 and since then over 600 Turkish security personnel and more than 7,000 PKK fighters have been killed.

Shaboobs ambush SNA, AU forces in Bakool
Fighters from the Al Qaeda-affiliated have launched an ambush attack on Somali and African Union troops in Somalia’s south-western Bakool region on Thursday morning.

Thursday’s attack happened at an area near Hudur town, the regional capital of Hudur region, where the allied troops have been conducting a security sweep against Al Shabaab. Local residents said at least three Somali army soldiers were killed in the Al Shabaab ambush near Hudur city, about 375Km south west of Somali capital, Mogadishu.

Hudur and its nearby areas are largely
...but certainly not completely...
controlled by Somali and AMISOM forces, despite sporadic Al Shabaab ambushes on the coalition forces.

US, Kurds forces kill ISIS Top Dawg in Qaim
The ISIS militant in charge of the group’s oil operations in Iraq and Syria was killed on Thursday in a joint operation between the Iraqi Kurdish and US Special forces, the Kurdistan Region Security Council said in a statement.

Sami Jassim al-Jabouri, also known as Haji Hamad, and his aide were killed “in the vicinity of Qaim,” an Iraqi town near the Syrian border, the statement said.

A Pentagon spokesman said coalition forces conducted a combined operation against an ISIS “associated target” in Iraq on August 11 but were assessing the results of the operation.

“The mission was coordinated with and approved by the Government of Iraq and conducted in partnership with Iraqi Security Forces,” said Adrian Rankine-Galloway, a Pentagon spokesman.

Kurdish peshmerga fighters are actively engaged in the fight against ISIS, the ultra-hardline Sunni militants who proclaimed a “caliphate” over parts of Iraq and Syria.

The Kurdish self-rule region in northern Iraq also hosts a base used by troops from the US-led coalition assisting Iraqi forces in the war on the militants.

14 injured in roadside bomb attack in Quetta
QUETTA: Officials said a roadside bomb went off near a vehicle escorting a judge of the Federal Shariat Court, wounding 14 people.

Fourteen people were injured in a roadside blast targeting a vehicle belonging to the Anti-Terrorism Force (ATF) accompanying Justice Zahoor Shahwani's vehicle at Quetta's Zarghon Road on Thursday.

According to rescue officials, ten civilians and four security officials were injured, with two in critical condition, in a roadside blast targeting a vehicle belonging to the ATF near Al Khair Hospital in Balochistan's provincial capital. The blast also shattered windows of nearby buildings.

Balochistan Home Minister Sarfaraz Bugti said the judge was unharmed.

Police spokesman Shahzada Farhat says police officers and passers-by were wounded.

The bomb was planted along the side of the road and exploded as the ATF's vehicle escorting the judge passed by.

Security forces and a bomb disposal squad reached the scene to collect evidence. Rescue teams moved the injured to Civil Hospital Quetta and CMH. Police cordoned off the area as a search operation went underway.

"This is a busy road and the terrorists take advantage of this, planting bombs and fleeing on motorcycles," said Bugti, strongly condemning the attack while talking to media at the site of the blast.

"These blasts are aimed at sabotaging Independence Day activities in Balochistan. I believe these cowardly acts will not bring down our morale. We are in a conflict zone and we will fight with renewed resolve."

"We are reviewing our security measures and you will see changes on the ground."

The minister added that three to four kilograms of explosive material was used in the blast.

Minority MPs seek constitutional amendment, demand top govt slots for non-Muslims
[DAWN] Lawmakers belonging to minorities demanded to amend the Constitution and make non-Moslems eligible for the slots of president and prime minister of the country.

"Although it will be almost impossible for any non-Moslem to become president or the prime minster of the country under the present circumstances, at least the Constitution should be made neutral in this regard," Khalil George, member of the National Assembly, said on Thursday.

George was speaking on the floor of the House.

Khalil George, who belongs to the ruling Pakistain Moslem League-Nawaz, was of the view that a constitutional ban on non-Moslems barring them from becoming head of the state and chief executive was sending wrong message to minorities residing in the country.

"Non-Moslems think they are not equal citizens in Pakistain," George said, adding that an amendment in the Constitution will send positive message to the minorities.

Endorsing the demand of his colleague, Pakistain People’s Party's (PPP) politician Ramesh Lal said, constitutional restriction on non-Moslems is in violation of basic human rights
...not to be confused with individual rights, mind you...
and teachings of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah -- the founder of Pakistain.

"Is there any doubt about the patriotism of non-Moslems," Lal questioned. He went on to say that making them [minorities] ineligible for top slots creates a sense of deprivation among the minorities.

Asiya Nasir of Jamaat Ulema-e-Islam
...a pak religious party. It is usually part of the govt, never part of the solution...
-Fazl also raised her voice in supported of the idea. She said "no one should have problem if non-Moslems are given right to become president and the prime minister of the country".

Egyptian officials ponder sending troops to south Sudan
The Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met the chairman of the Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission (JMEC) for the agreement on the resolution of the conflict in South Sudan Festus Mogae in Cairo yesterday. El-Sisi and Mogae discussed regional efforts to restore peace in Juba and the Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry also attended the meeting.

Fighting and violence between supporters of President Salva Kiir and his rival Riek Machar has plagued the state of South Sudan for more than two years, raising fears of instability in East Africa where the fighting has led to the deaths of more than 10,000 people and the displacement of more than two million others.

The presidential spokesperson Ambassador Alaa Youssef said that President El-Sisi welcomed Mogae and emphasised Egypt’s support for the efforts of the JMEC in order to implement the peace settlement agreement and restore peace and stability in South Sudan, particularly in light of the distinguished relations between Egypt and South Sudan.

El-Sisi also confirmed that Egypt will continue to make efforts with the different parties concerned in order to restore calm in South Sudan after the tension that it experienced recently. He added that Egypt will continue to provide development programmes in many fields which will contribute to the acceleration of the development process in South Sudan.

Youssef also explained that Mogae expressed his appreciation of the efforts that Egypt has made to bring together the various parties in South Sudan during the meeting. He also noted the importance of Egypt’s role in Africa and its constant defence of African interests, particularly in light of Egypt’s membership of the UN Security Council and the African Union’s Peace and Security Council (PSC).

The chairman of the JMEC also reviewed recent developments in South Sudan. He was referring to recent clashes and unrest that led to the complicated situation on the ground which necessitates urging the different parties to overcome differences and work on fully implementing the agreement for a peaceful settlement.

Ambassador Youssef also explained that the current situation in South Sudan and regional and UN efforts to restore peace that include the proposal put forward by the Intergovernmental Authority for Development (IGAD) to deploy a regional protection force under the auspices of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan were discussed during the meeting.

President El-Sisi also stressed Egypt’s support for all efforts to restore security and stability in South Sudan and referred to Egypt’s keenness to consult its government and the governments of African members of the Security Council regarding the proposed deployment of a regional protection force in an effort to reach a consensus on how best to restore calm and push forward the peace process and a political settlement in the country.

Wary of Boko Haram rebirth, Borno moves to regulate Islamic preaching

Ideology, Borno State government has set up a regulatory body to censor Islamic preaching in the state.

At the inauguration of the body, named Borno State Islamic Preaching Board, Governor Kashim Shettima said its task is to help prevent "history from repeating itself".

The governor said the board’s task is to monitor and spy on the preaching of all Islamic holy mans especially those in the remote areas of the 27 local government areas of the state.

The Islamic Preaching Board is to be headed by the Chief Imam of Borno State, Imam Zannah Laisu Ibrahim Ahmed.

Mr. Shettima urged the board to monitor ‎the proliferation of traditional Islamiyya, Tsangaya or Almajiri and Arabic schools for the purpose of "protecting noble schools from the infiltration by others which may have hidden motives aimed at teaching violent doctrines".

All members of the board were present.

Mr. Shettima said Borno and its people "must learn from the history of the Boko Haram", which he noted keeps re-surging despite being defeated at various times by the military.

Saraki calls for probe on Boko Haram recruitment in IDPs camp
[NAIJ] Senate President, Bukola Saraki has urged security agencies in the country not to treat the rumours that Boko Haram

snuffies are recruiting members from Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps in the Northeast with levity but to urgently investigate the issue to unravel those behind the menace, if any.

In a statement by his special adviser on media and publicity, Yusuph Olaniyonu, in Abuja, Saraki said it has become necessary for the nation’s intelligence outfits to take such rumours seriously with the aim of curtailing the untoward development.

"Seeing that ISIS has been recruiting members from European refugee camps, and the Kenyan government recently had to shut down the world’s largest refugee camp because Al-Shaabab was using the place to train and recruit young people as turbans, it is important that we take the rumours about Boko Haram recruiting from IDP camps seriously," he said.

The Reason Why America's F-35 Would Crush China's J-20 Stealth Fighter in Battle
"The United States Air Force would maintain an "asymmetric" advantage over potential adversaries in the Western Pacific even after the Chinese People's Liberation Army Air Force inducts the Chengdu J-20 stealth fighter into operational service. That's the contention of the service's top uniformed officer--who was asked about the potential geopolitical implications of the introduction of the new Chinese warplane.

"When we apply fifth-generation technology, it's no longer about a platform, it's about a family of systems," Air Force chief of staff Gen. David Goldfein told reporters at the Pentagon on Aug. 10. "It's about a network and that's what gives us an asymmetrical advantage, so that why when I hear about an F-35 versus a J-20, it’s almost an irrelevant question.

While Goldfein used the Nighthawk as a comparison--he probably did not intend to suggest that the J-20's systems are quite as basic as the 1980s-era F-117. While accurate information about the J-20 is scarce, there are indications that the Chinese aircraft is equipped with a phased array radar, a robust electronic warfare systems and an electro-optical/infrared sensor that is similar in concept to the F-35's systems. However, while it is possible that the Chinese aircraft might have decent sensors--Air Force officials have suggested that the J-20 lacks the "sensor fusion" and networking to be as effective as the F-22 or F-35.

One area that the Chinese are almost certainly lacking is what Air Combat Command commander Gen. Herbert "Hawk" Carlisle once described to me as "spike management." Fifth-generation aircraft such as the F-22 and F-35 have cockpit displays that indicate to the pilot the various angles and ranges from which their aircraft can be detected and tracked by various enemy radars. The pilots use that information to evade the enemy by making sure to avoid zones where they could be detected and engaged. It is a technology that took decades for the United States to master--through a lot of trial and error."

#16  Best plane in the world generally requires a pretty good pilot with lots of training and practice. Do Chinese pilots get lots of training and practice?

Everything I have come across suggests a built culture, something akin to whether a soldier can parade or fight.

104 pilot said something like, It isn't whether a pilot can fight, but whether a fighter can pilot.

Maybe a Rantburger can correct or expand on this.

I watched a documentary, the name slips me at the moment, about the Israeli air force during their war of independence, and it credited their success to being combat vets of WWII.

I am of the school that there is no substitute for real experience. Training will help with the real, but only when it is real do you see what does and does not work. Example, just joined the VFD, been on some runs, went to a training where I was grouped with some fresh from the academy FFs. I am sure they could tie every knot blindfolded but in a paper attack on a Christmas Tree fire, they parked me under power lines and sent me through the garage. No way I said, but I was an Indian, they were Chiefs, and the Instructor was mad.

Knowing the results of the latest Red Flag is not the same as knowing why it was set up so. So unless Maverick and 宮廷弄臣 are going to joust in a box away from all other assets it is all talk.

Pokemon Go: Cambodia genocide survivors upset over players at Khmer Rouge torture site
[IBTIMES.CO.UK] Pokemon Go has sparked further controversy after people were seen playing the game at the S-21 Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, where thousands are believed to have been tortured and executed in Cambodia during the Khmer Rouge regime in the 1970s.

Tuol Sleng, better known as S-21, used to be one of Cambodia's most notorious prisons during the Khmer Rouge regime between 1975-1917. The regime claimed the lives of up to three million people, including between 15,000 and 20,000 prisoners who were thought to have been tortured to death in the prison.

According to the BBC, officials and tour guides have confirmed that people are playing Pokemon Go inside the prison grounds. Photographs of many of the torture victims of Tuol Sleng in Penh are on display in the prison cells where they were murdered.

An S-21 survivor, 76-year-old Buo Meng, told AFP: "It is a place of suffering. It is not appropriate to play the game there. It is an insulting act to the souls of the victims who died there."

Meng has called for the museum to be excluded from Pokemon Go's maps in respect for the victims of one of the worst mass killings of the 20th century. The prison documents the story of the Cambodia genocide, with the name Tuol Sleng translating to "Hill of the Poisonous Trees".

Couple killed for ‘honour’
[DAWN] MUZAFFARABAD: The family of a man who was killed along with his wife in the name of ’honour’ placed the bodies of both victims on a main road linking Rawalakot with Muzaffarabad throughout Wednesday, demanding that the main suspect be tossed in the clink
Book 'im, Mahmoud!
The bodies were removed at about 6pm after a committee of locals was constituted to serve as guarantors by the Poonch divisional commissioner that the suspect, who is also wanted in another case, will be apprehended within 48 hours.

Owais Riaz, 30, and his 18-year-old wife Aliza were found dead in an isolated house in Danna Kotehra on Tuesday, four days after they had married in a court.

Riaz had married another girl for love two years ago and had to run away with her as well.

The couple were allowed to come back to the village after a jirga decided on the matter. After he had a daughter with his first wife, he had moved to Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. for work.

According to Inayat Hussein, an official in the City Police Station, Rawalakot, Riaz came back to Pakistain on July 29 and married Aliza in front of a judicial magistrate on Aug 5.

A local, Shoaib Arif, told the couple to stay in his house so that they would be safe from the girl’s family.

On Tuesday evening, Mr Arif told police that he had come home from work to find both of them rubbed out.

Police handed over the bodies to Riaz’s family after autopsies were conducted in the early hours of Wednesday.

In the FIR, Riaz’s father alleged that the couple were killed by Aliza’s paternal uncle Niaz Ahmed who was wanted by police in another case as well.

Niaz was booked under Section 302 of the Pakistain Penal Code and the girl’s father Nisar Ahmed, his relatives Khadim and Zahid and the owner of the house in which the couple had taken refuge were arrested and booked for abetment in the crime, Mr Hussein said.

Riaz’s family placed the bodies on the road and demanded that the main suspect also be arrested. Divisional Commissioner Zafar Mehmood assured them that the suspect would be apprehended within two days and formed a council of elders to serve as guarantors of his assurance.

Later, Aliza’s body was handed over to her family.

Islamic State claims attempted attack on Canadian police
Update from yesterday's reports.
[IsraelTimes] Aaron Driver shot dead after detonating bomb in a cab, which Amaq Agency says was ‘response to call to target coalition countries’

The Islamic State’s news agency claimed Thursday that a Canadian man killed by police a day earlier was a member of the jihadist group and acting on its general instructions.

Aaron Driver, 24, was killed Wednesday during a police raid outside the home where he was staying with his sister in the town of Strathroy, Ontario, after he detonated a small explosive in the back seat of a cab.

He was detained last year for pro-IS media posts, and an investigation has revealed his extensive ties to foreign jihadists.

An unnamed source told the Amaq Agency that Driver “was a soldier of the Islamic State and carried out the operation in response to call to target coalition countries.”

Police said they acted to thwart an imminent “potential terrorist threat.”

Driver first came to the attention of authorities in October 2014 with tweets in support of IS and justifying the killing of a soldier standing guard at the Canadian National War Memorial in Ottawa by a young Muslim convert.

In June 2015, a court ordered him to undergo religious counseling, wear an electronic monitoring bracelet and stay off the internet. Those restrictions were gradually loosened and were scheduled to expire this month.

A convert to Islam, Driver’s views had apparently become increasingly radical after he began following the war in Syria online.

“If a country goes to war with another country or another people or another community, I think that they have to be prepared for things like” the October 22, 2014 attack in Ottawa, Driver told the CBC. “And when it does happen they shouldn’t, they shouldn’t act surprised. They had it coming to them; they deserved it.”

Still, he publicly disavowed violence.

“I don’t think there’s a reason for Canadians to think that I’m a threat,” he said.

The RCMP, however, revealed that Driver had been in “fairly constant contact” with violent extremists around the world. They included two members of the Islamic State group, a British youth arrested for his involvement in a terror plot targeting Australia, and Elton Simpson — one of two Americans who launched an attack on a Texas exhibition of caricatures of the Prophet Mohammed last year.

Investigators searching Driver’s home in 2015 found a recipe for homemade bombs on his computer.

In a video released by the RCMP on Thursday, Driver warned Canadians: “You have Muslim blood on your hands and for this we will have your blood.”

He called Canadians and their allies “mischief makers” who spread “oppression and corruption.”

“You will pay for everything that you have done against us,” he said, dressed in black clothes and a balaclava.

According to Canadian media, Driver converted to Islam in his teens after a difficult childhood and a split with his father.

Public broadcaster CBC said his mother died when he was seven years old. Driver and his father — a Canadian soldier — recounted last year in interviews with the CBC how their relationship had become strained. The father, whose name was withheld, said his son had become increasingly withdrawn.

“It was like he turned out the lights and put a ‘Do Not Disturb’ sign on the door,” the father told CBC. “When he was living at home, he was very secretive; a lone wolf. He didn’t bring friends over, never talked about where he was going and what he was doing."

Driver lived away from home during most of his teenage years.

At age 17 he turned to religion. Baptized Christian in his birth province of Saskatchewan, he started reading the Bible, he said, but added “I just decided it couldn’t possibly be the word of God.”

After exploring other religions, he converted to Islam.

According to police, Driver had already managed to film a martyrdom video to be shown after carrying out his suicide attack. Police raided his home after being tipped off about his plan and receiving word about the video from US authorities.

Well done to our guys. Apparently in the video Mr. Driver promised an attack within 72 hours.

Nigerian army says Boko Haram defeated; group's disputed leader vows to fight on
[UPI] The Nigerian Army said it has defeated Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
though the Lion of Islam group's leader, embroiled in a split in the group, said he will fight on.

Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, chief of Nigerian army staff, on Monday said the ability for Boko Haram to re-group in any part of Nigeria has been degraded. He said the group has failed to carry out attacks or suicide kabooms in northeast Nigeria
... a particularly crimson stretch of Islam's bloody border...
recently because it has been defeated.

During a visit to Nigeria's Plateau state, Buratai said the conflict with Boko Haram will come to an end through the efforts of Nigeria's Special Task Force and other security agencies.

"You can see that our efforts in the northeast has really paid off, as you can recall the incessant bombing of market places and different places of worships and populated areas has virtually stopped now," Buratai said. "I can assure ... the people of Plateau state that they will never witness Boko Haram attacks like you witnessed in the past."

"The Nigerian army has not only succeeded in rooting them from their camps in the northeast, we have been able to block these criminal elements from crossing down to these areas or building their camp anywhere in Nigeria," Buratai added.

Meanwhile,
...back at the Council of Boskone, Helmuth had turned a paler shade of blue. Star-A-Star had struck again...
Abubakar Shekau
... the lunatic leader of Boko Haram who has been reported dead at least eleven times, pledged his body and soul to ISIS, told his fighters to hang it up once or twice, and been fired by the Caliph and refused to step down....

-- who said he remains the leader of Boko Haram despite contradicting claims -- released a video in which he vowed to continue fighting.

"I ... made it a duty for myself [to fight] Nigeria and the whole world," Shekau said in the video released on Sunday in which he dismissed an Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
announcement that he was replaced by former Boko Haram front man Sheikh Abu Musab al-Barnawi.

He also dismissed indications that Boko Haram is undergoing a split and that he had died. He was last seen in March.

"We have no desire to fight our Moslem brethren," Shekau said. "I'm alive by the permission of Allah."

Libyan Forces in Fresh Clashes with ISIS in Sirte
Libyan forces renewed clashes with ISIS militants in Sirte on Thursday, a day after capturing a convention complex that had been a symbol of the militant group’s dominance over the city.

Forces aligned with Libya’s U.N.-backed government seized the Ouagadougou convention center and several other key sites on Wednesday, advancing into areas that had been fought over for weeks.

Those forces, supported since Aug. 1 by U.S. air strikes, said in a statement that they had taken Islamic State’s “most important bastions” in its former North African stronghold.

But they have yet to gain control of several neighborhoods in central Sirte. On Thursday, fighters advancing on a hotel and guest houses near Sirte’s port exchanged sporadic fire with militants, said Rida Issa, a spokesman for the Sirte operation.

That comes after weeks of house-to-house fighting in residential areas, with sniper fire, trip wires and landmines slowing the advance, reported Reuters.

The fighters are led by brigades from nearby Misrata, who repelled an ISIS advance south of their city in early May before pushing eastwards to Sirte and besieging the militants in the center of the Mediterranean city.

The capture of Sirte would be a major setback for ISIS, ousting the jihadist group from the only city in Libya where it established total control.

It could also boost the fortunes of the U.N.-backed Government of National Accord (GNA), which has been struggling to impose its influence on a country riven by political and armed rivalries.

In an interview with Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera on Tuesday, before the latest advances, GNA Prime Minister Fayez Seraj said he believed the defeat of Islamic State in Sirte would “not take too much time. Probably not months, just a few weeks”.

In Wednesday’s advances, brigade fighters found a house used as a laboratory for making explosive belts and seized a number of military vehicles used by ISIS, some damaged and some in good condition, said Issa, the spokesman.

“Military engineering units are now working to clear the captured areas of mines,” he added.

U.S. Africa Command said it carried out seven strikes in Sirte on Wednesday, targeting trucks mounted with heavy artillery, fighting positions, a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device and two supply trucks. U.S. drones and fighter jets have carried out 36 strikes over Sirte since Aug. 1.

Eighteen GNA-aligned fighters were killed on Wednesday and 72 wounded, Issa said. Among the dead was Mokhtar Fakron, a senior air force commander who was killed with another pilot when their jet came down over Sirte.

From an estimated fighting force of some 6,000 men, more than 350 brigade fighters have been killed and at least 1,500 wounded since the campaign to recapture Sirte began.

Two wounded in Grenade Blast in Mogadishu
At least Two people have been wounded in a grenade blast, targeting Somali army vehicle in southern Mogadishu on Thursday night, witnesses said.
Even with this it is safer in Mogadishu than the south side of Chicago...
A witness, said the blast happened when a suspected Al Shabaab member hurled grenade at a military vehicle belonging to Dharkenley district commissioner.

Those wounded in the bomb attack were members of the DC’s security personnel. After the attack, security forces have sealed off the area around the blast site and carried out a sweep.

According to a Tuesday Daily Mail report, while some Boko Haram jacket wallahs and bandidos bully boyz were seen heading for Europe,
...and so Angela Merkel's people are about to reap more consequences...
others had begun to travel to join and fight for the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. in Syria.
Come and be killed, all ye Boko Boyz! The Kurds and their comrades will happily spot for the Coalition jets and UAVs, not to mention killing in numbers for their own account.
A source linked to Nigeria’s National Intelligence Agency was quoted as saying that, "They (Boko Haram refugees) will soon start showing up on the Mediterranean’s shores

"Some of these people are trained suicide bombers and fighters, including children as young as ten. They have all been indoctrinated by Boko Haram and they could soon turn up in Europe’s capitals."

Intelligence sources also reported that human traffickers from the ISIS-backed terror group were transporting girls and young men across the Sahara into Libya.

The situation, they said, was even more worrisome because "five children are dying an hour with 250,000 at risk of starvation while parliament remains hamstrung in a political wrangle."

The crisis is being blamed on the instability in the Senate attributed to the criminal charges pressed by the Federal Government against the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki.

Daily Mail quoted an intelligence source as saying that Saraki’s prosecution had been obstructing his attempt to get the Senate to pass a motion to grant £215m in aid to tackle the emergency in the North-East.

Al-Qaeda flees Azzan after airstrikes
ADEN: Airstrikes by a Saudi-led coalition have forced Al-Qaeda fighters out of a key town in southern Yemen. “Al-Qaeda militants have withdrawn from Azzan, the second city in Shabwa province, after coalition raids targeted their gatherings in the city” an official said.

A resident said by telephone that the militants had retreated northwards and “no longer have a presence” in Azzan. The coalition strikes intensified Tuesday around the insurgent-held capital. Coalition warplanes have also targeted Daesh.

Shekau's video evidence of growing tensions between Boko Haram factions
[IBTIMES.CO.UK] A video released by the disputed leader of Nigeria-based terror groupBoko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
is proof that there are tensions between the two factions within the Islamist outfit, a security analyst toldIBTimes UK.

Abubakar Shekau recently released a 24-minute clip vowing he would continue to fight. The video camedays afterBoko Haram's ally, the Isis terror group, replaced Shekau with Abu Musab al-Barnawi, former Boko Haram spokesperson.

Shekau, however, denied he had been replaced and claimed Barnawi was staging a coup against him. He also accused Barnawi of being an infidel who condoned living in a non-Islamic society without waging jihad.

Following the new appointment, analysts warned the group had split into two factions, one loyal to Shekau and the other to Barnawi.

"The video is another reason to expect some tension between Shakau's faction and the faction of Al Barnawi," David Otto, CEO of global security provider TGS Intelligence Consultants, told IBTimes UK.

"Shakau is probably doing this video appearance to reassure his followers that he is still alive and in control. Without this type of assurance, most of his bully boyz will cross over to Barnawi's faction. This could be a strong message of defiance to [Isis] - Shakau will not give up his leadership without a fight."

Otto added that Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (Aqim) could be interested in allying with Shekau, given his refusal to accept Barnawi as his replacement.
AQIM was the original alliance. Bamawi's group split off when Shekau chose ISIS instead, as I recall. So we now have the amusing sight of both trading allegiances.
"We may never witness a physical battle between Shakau's faction and that of Barnawi, but a battle of ideology will ensue," he said. "This is an indication that technically the fight against insurgency in the region is just beginning."

-Short Attention Span Theater-
Hillary, Trump, and War with Russia: The Stupidist Idea I Have Ever Heard
[Fred on Everything] Don't look for a walk-over. The T14 Armata, Russia's latest tank. You don't want to fight this monster if you can think of a better idea, such as not fighting it. Russia once made large numbers of second-rate tanks. That worm has turned. This thing is way advanced and outguns the American M1A2, having a 125mm smoothbore firing APFSDS long-rods to the Abrams 120mm. (As Hillary would know, that's Armor-piercing, fin-stabilized, discarding-sabot. You did know, didn't you, Hill?) This isn't the place for a disquisition on armor, but the above beast is an ver advanced design with unmanned turret and, well, a T34 it isn't.

A good reason to vote for Trump, a very good reason whatever his other intentions, is that he does not want a war with Russia. Hillary and her elite ventriloquists threaten just that. Note the anti-Russian hysteria coming from her and her remoras.

Such a war would be yet another example of the utter control of America by rich insiders. No normal American has anything at all to gain by such a war. And no normal American has the slightest influence over whether such a war takes place, except by voting for Trump. The military has become entirely the plaything of unaccountable elites.

A martial principle of great wisdom says that military stupidity comes in three grades: Ordinarily stupid; really, really, really stupid; and fighting Russia. Think Charles XII at Poltava, Napoleon after Borodino, Adolf and Kursk.

Letting dilettantes, grifters, con men, pasty Neocons, bottle-blonde ruins, and corporations decide on war is insane. We have pseudo-masculine dwarves playing with things they do not understand. So far as I am aware, none of these fern-bar Clausewitzes has worn boots, been in a war, seen a war, or faces any chance of being in a war started by themselves. They brought us Iraq, Afghanistan, and Isis, and can’t win wars against goatherds with AKs. They are going to fight...Russia?

A point that the tofu ferocities of New York might bear in mind is that wars seldom turn out as expected, usually with godawful results. We do not know what would happen in a war with Russia. Permit me a tedious catalog to make this point. It is very worth making.

When Washington pushed the South into the Civil War, it expected a conflict that might be over in twenty-four hours, not four years with as least 650,000 dead. When Germany began WWI, it expected a swift lunge into Paris, not four years of hideously bloody static war followed by unconditional surrender. When the Japanese Army pushed for attacking Pearl, it did not foresee GIs marching in Tokyo and a couple of cities glowing at night. When Hitler invaded Poland, utter defeat and occupation of Germany was not among his war aims. When the US invaded Vietnam, it did not expect to be outfought and outsmarted by a bush-world country. When Russia invaded Afghanistan it did not expect...nor when America invaded Afghanistan, nor when it attacked Iraq, nor....

Is there a pattern here?

Now there's revisionist history. Lincoln had no political or military plans in dealing with the southern states voting to succeed. Everyone was groping in the dark about the next step. Something about Southerners firing on a federal fort kicked it off. The Japanese would make the same mistake about 80 years later. Similar results.

NY man pleads guilty to plotting New Year’s terror attack
[IsraelTimes] Emanuel Lutchman was in contact with now-deceased Islamic State terrorist Abu Issa Al-Amriki

A 26-year-old ex-convict pleaded guilty in federal court Thursday to plotting a New Year’s Eve machete attack at a Rochester restaurant in the name of the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. terrorist group.

Emanuel Lutchman,
...who soon will have a permanent place in the prison mental ward, taking him out of reach of those sane jihadis who would have happily turned him into cannon fodder...
of Rochester, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to provide material support to a foreign terrorism organization, a charge that carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in federal prison, US Attorney William Hochul said. He’ll be sentenced Nov. 15 in US District Court in Rochester.

Officials say Lutchman explored websites related to violent jihad and initiated contact with now-deceased Islamic State terrorist Abu Issa Al-Amriki in Syria in December 2015. Prosecutors say Al-Amriki told him to plan an attack on New Year’s Eve and kill non-believers, or "kuffar."

The FBI says it used paid informants to uncover the plot and take Lutchman to a Walmart store to purchase black ski masks, two knives, a machete, ammonia and other supplies for the attack.

On Dec. 30, 2015, prosecutors say Lutchman made a video pledging allegiance to the Islamic State in which he said, "the blood that you spill of the Moslem overseas we gonna spill the blood of the kuffar." Immediately thereafter, agents placed in durance vile
Don't shoot, coppers! I'm comin' out!
him.

Lutchman’s family told the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle he has a long history of mental problems and was unable to get a job after serving time in prison for robbing a man of his cellphone, bus pass and cigarettes when he was 16. His grandmother said he would never have carried out the attack.
But he would have put on a suicide vest if someone had given it to him, then walked into a crowd to be detonated.

French mayor bans burqinis on Cannes beaches
[IsraelTimes] The mayor of Cannes has banned the wearing of burqinis -- full-body swimsuits -- on the beaches of the French Riviera resort famous for its annual film festival, officials said Thursday.

Mayor David Lisnard signed off on the ruling that "access to beaches and for swimming is banned to anyone who does not have (bathing apparel) which respects good customs and secularism," which is a founding principle of the French republic.

"Beachwear which ostentatiously displays religious affiliation, when La Belle France and places of worship are currently the target of terrorist attacks, is liable to create risks of disrupting public order which it is necessary to prevent," it says.

Thierry Migoule, head of municipal services for the town, sought to clarify the ruling’s intent.

"We are not talking about banning the wearing of religious symbols on the beach ... but ostentatious clothing which refers to an allegiance to terrorist movements which are at war with us," he said.

Islamic dress is a hot-button issue in La Belle France, where the full-face veil is banned in public places. But there is no ban on wearing religious symbols or clothing.

Migoule said that no burqini had been seen on any beach in Cannes since the ruling was signed into force on July 28 by Lisnard, a member of the center-right Les Republicains party.

Earlier this week, a waterpark in nearby Marseille cancelled plans to host a private event for Moslem women wearing burqinis after they sparked outrage, including from politicians on both the right and left.

UN rights chief criticises Bulgaria over treatment of migrants

[Ynet] UN human rights
...which are usually entirely different from personal liberty...
chief Zeid Ra'ad al-Hussein accused Bulgaria on Thursday of committing systematic human rights violations by criminalising migrants colonists.

Bulgaria's policy "raises serious concerns about the State's compliance with international law", he said in a statement.

He said it was "particularly disturbing to see important and influential public figures expressing support for illegal armed vigilante groups who have been brazenly hunting down migrants colonists along parts of the border between Bulgaria and The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
".
Potayto, potahto -- in Bulgaria many seem to think of them as neighbourhood watch groups.

Confirmed: US Central Command Cooked the Books on ISIS
Excerpt: "Last year, 50 professional intelligence officers at US Central Command filed a formal complaint that their intelligence reports were being altered by senior officers. Now, we can say for certain that they were right. A Congressional task force investigating the complaint has found convincing evidence that the reports generated by junior officers were far more dire in analysis of the threat from the Islamic State (ISIS), and that those reports became altered only once senior officers close to US Central Command (CENTCOM) leadership became involved. Those altered intelligence reports sometimes made it into the President's briefing material, where they could reinforce his judgment that ISIS was not a threat he had to take seriously."

Worse, these altered intelligence reports formed the basis for sworn testimony given by then-CENTCOM Commander Lloyd Austin. General Austin's testimony to Congress thus painted a rosier picture than was accurate. This gave allies of the President in Congress the opportunity to downplay the need for policy changes, and undermined Republican efforts to drive a more serious response to the ISIS threat. Such false statements by General Austin may have been perjury, especially if he was aware that they were false.

In a familiar pattern of behavior, it looks as if senior officials have been destroying records -- especially emails -- to block the ongoing Defense Department Inspector General investigation.

Lapdog? Clearly at O-6. It is so bad that when I worked for a three star...the GO, who knew that I was trained in detection of deception, would direct me watch the briefs and review reports looking for deception from the briefer - when it was obvious (hiding bad news...) the GO would then dispatch the CSM to rough up the NCOs in order to get the truth.

In Austin's case false statement are deliberate lies...dangerous lies. Either that or he is stupid...probably a little bit of both going on.

Military attaches, diplomats flee in Turkey’s post-coup probe
Two Turkish military attaches in Greece fled to Italy, others were caught overseas and several diplomats were on the run after being recalled as part of an inquiry into last month’s failed military coup, Turkey’s foreign minister said on Aug 11.

These added to several other fleeing military attaches, high-ranking soldiers and diplomats who fled after the bloody July 15 attempt as operations in the country against the followers of U.S.-based preacher Fethullah Gülen were ongoing inside the country.

Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu told private broadcaster NTV that two military attaches in Greece - Naval Col. Halis Tunç and Col. İlhan Yaşıtlı - had fled by car and ferry to Italy with their families, but Turkish officials would seek their return.

The Greek foreign ministry said the two attaches fled before Ankara asked them to return to Turkey and before officials canceled their diplomatic passports.

“Greek officials have confirmed this. The brother of Col. Halis Tunç lives in the Netherlands. We are pondering the possibility that they might have escaped to the Netherlands,” said Çavuşoğlu.

Five employees of Turkey’s embassy in the Netherlands were recalled on suspicion of involvement with the Gülen movement, the Turkish charge d’affaires told the Algemeen Dagblad newspaper this week.

“It wasn’t the cook or the servants,” Kurtulus Aykan, acting head of Turkey’s mission to the Netherlands, was quoted as saying. “These were high-ranking staff members, talented people with whom I had an excellent working relationship. I suspected nothing. That’s the talent of this movement. They infiltrate silently.”

Daily Hürriyet cited military sources as saying the Turkish military attache in the Jordanian capital of Amman had also fled.

Çavuşoğlu said a military attache based in Kuwait had also tried to escape through Saudi Arabia, but had been sent back, as well as two generals based in Afghanistan who had been caught in Dubai by United Arab Emirates authorities and returned to Turkey.

Turkey has detained more than 35,000 people following coup attempt
The latest numbers, for those keeping score.
[Ynet] Turkish authorities have detained a total of 35,022 people in relation to last month's abortive coup attempt, a senior Turkish official said on Thursday.

Just over half of those detained, or 17,740 people, have since been formally tossed in the calaboose
Yez got nuttin' on me, coppers! Nuttin'!

Outcry as Bulgaria Deports Gulen Supporter to Turkey

[AnNahar] Bulgaria's deportation to The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
of a supporter of U.S.-based preacher Fethullah Gulen
... a Turkish preacher living in Pennsylvania whom the current govt of Turkey considers responsible for all the ills afflicting Turkey and possibly the entire world...
, whom Ankara blames for last month's failed coup, sparked an outcry in the EU member state on Thursday.

Businessman Abdullah Buyuk, 43, was deported on Wednesday "as a person with invalid documents" after being refused political asylum, Interior Minister Rumyana Bachvarova told bTV television on Thursday. This sparked outrage in the news media and on social media, with critics charging that Sofia had bowed to Turkish pressure and had failed to follow proper legal or transparent procedures.

Buyuk arrived in Bulgaria in February -- long before the coup -- and The Sick Man of Europe Turkey had already sought his extradition, accusing him of "links with terrorist organizations and money laundering."

In March, two Bulgarian courts however refused to send him back, saying he was "sought for political reasons" and that they "lacked guarantees for a fair trial" in Turkey.

Prosecutors told AFP last week however that after the July 15 coup attempt, Turkey asked Bulgaria to reexamine the case. They replied that the request was "procedurally inadmissible."

But interior ministry deputy chief of staff Georgy Arabadzhiev told journalists on Thursday that Bulgaria had now received from Interpol "new worrying facts and circumstances" about Buyuk, without elaborating.

Saudi Arabia tries 14 over deadly Makkah crane crash
[DAWN] Fourteen people have gone on trial in Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
over a crane collapse in Makkah that killed 111 pilgrims and injured hundreds more just days before the start of the annual Haj pilgrimage last year, local media reported on Thursday.

State-linked newspapers said six Saudis, including a billionaire, as well as two Paks, a Canadian, a Jordanian, a Paleostinian, an Egyptian, an Emirati and a Filipino are on trial. The defendants' names were not made public.

The Okaz newspaper says the defendants are accused of negligence, damaging public property and ignoring safety guidelines. It appears all are employees of the Saudi Binladin Group, the construction giant that was operating the crane.

Amid unusually strong winds, the 1,350-tonne crane collapsed onto the Grand Mosque that houses Islam's holiest site bringing down slabs of concrete on worshippers below. The tragedy on September 11 was the first of two major signs of divine displeasure incidents to mar last year's Haj.

A stampede and crush of pilgrims killed more than 2,400 people on September 24, according to an News Agency that Dare Not be Named count. The Saudi Gazette reported that 170 employees of the Binladin Group had been questioned by Sherlocks ahead of the court proceedings.

Okaz said prosecutors decided not to file charges against 42 others who were under investigation, including 16 members of the Binladin family. Dozens of cranes surround Makkah's Grand Mosque, part of a massive construction effort headed by the Binladin Group.

Mob rule targetting suspected kidnappers
[DAWN] MULTAN/FAISALABAD/GUJRANWALA: The cases of mob justice in the wake of recent child kidnap reports are rising in Multan, Faisalabad
...formerly known as Lyallpur, the third largest metropolis in Pakistain, the second largest in Punjab after Lahore. It is named after some Arab because the Paks didn't have anybody notable of their own to name it after...
and other areas of Punjab.

On Wednesday, a mob clashed with police on Shujabad Road when they tried to rescue four suspected kidnappers, including a woman.

Later, it turned out the people held hostage and beaten were the residents of Talagang and had come to Multan in search for their own missing child.

The mob, mostly the residents of Farooqpura Chowk, held Nasiruddin, Nisar Ahmed, Saleheen and Sanobar Mai hostage calling them kidnappers. Hearing the word ’kidnappers’, the mob started beating them and resisted when police sought the custody of the four people. The mob blocked the main Shujabad Road for six hours demanding action against the alleged kidnappers.

Police engaged the local notables and politicians to end the road blockade. An assurance by the police that they would thoroughly interrogate the Talagang residents pacified the mob to open the road.

Police shifted the four people to Cantonment Police Station. A spokesperson for police said the incident was the result of misunderstanding, but police would thoroughly probe the matter.

Earlier, on Tuesday night people tortured a man in Kotla Abul Fateh suspecting him a child snatcher and later handed him over to Muzafarabad police.

Hours before this, a man and a woman were brutally tortured in Biliwala (in Multan) by a mob for the same allegations. Both are in hospital fighting for life. Police said both the man and the woman were mentally challenged.

Similar mob justice cases have been happening in the recent weeks in Lahore. The people were thrashed and beaten by the mobs were declared innocent by Lahore police.

In Faisalabad, mobsters tried to burn an alleged kidnapper in Madinaabad. Ghulam Mohammadabad police started the paperwork but haven't done much else on Wednesday against more than 300 people, of them, 19 nominated, for trying to kill the man, later identified as Farooq.

The case registered on the complaint of Station House Officer Mohammad Adil says the mob on Tuesday tried to put Farooq on fire by dousing patrol on him when Ghulam Mohammadabad police tried to get his custody. The man was held hostage in the house of Imran in Madinaabad.

Also on Wednesday, enraged people thrashed a policeman and tore his uniform near Bawa Chak on Sargodha Road during a demonstration against the Millat Town police for not registration a kidnapping case.

Later, Millat Town police tossed in the clink
Don't shoot, coppers! I'm comin' out!
six people for thrashing policeman Waseem, of Ali Town police post.

Protesters said police had not registered the kidnapping case of 18-year-old Mehboob, son of Muhammad Yaqoob. Police say the kidnapping case had been registered.

In Gujranwala, residents of Wapda Town protested against the alleged kidnapping of two minor girls. Police, however, refuted the report and said no kidnapping was reported. Protesters, led by Nasir Bhatti, insisted that Sofia (13) and Aqsa (11), both maids of Bhatti in Wapda Town, had been missing since 2pm. Police arrested Bhatti and three others.

two men allegedly working for Afghan intelligence.

According to a CTD official, the men were planning to bomb densely populated areas of the placid provincial capital in order to cause widespread destruction.

The suspects, Atiqullah and Abdul Saboor, were identified as Afghans who were working for the National Directorate of Security
...the Afghan national intel agency...
(NDS). The official said both men were held in the Regi area on the outskirts of Beautiful Downtown Peshawar
...capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (formerly known as the North-West Frontier Province), administrative and economic hub for the Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan. Peshawar is situated near the eastern end of the Khyber Pass, convenient to the Pak-Afghan border. . The official added that they seized an bomb weighing three kilograms planted in a computer’s central processing unit. They also seized hand-grenades and other weapons.

He said the CTD had seized video footage of densely populated areas, where the suspects were apparently planning attacks. He said they were also planning to target a seminary in the Tehhkal area. He said the men were receiving Rs100,000 per month from the NDS and being controlled from Jalalabad.

Africa Subsaharan
Boko Haram sets up base in Bauchi forest
[DAILYTRUST.NG] The Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
faceless myrmidons are establishing a new base in Bauchi state, a senator revealed yesterday.

Senator Isa Hamma Misau (APC, Bauchi Central) said the faceless myrmidons were relocating to the area from their stronghold in Sambisa Forest.

Hamma Misau, a retired Police officer, told Daily Trust in an exclusive phone interview that the faceless myrmidons had started establishing themselves in Burra Forest in Ningi Emirate Council of his constituency.

He said the Burra forest is linked through a corridor to the Falgore Forrest in Kano state and Saminaka in Kaduna State.

"The Boko Haram faceless myrmidons are relocating to the Burra Forest. It is a very large forest extending to three states and it is from there that the faceless myrmidons are going to other places to unleash terror on people.

"It was because of their activities that a new Police division was opened in Burra but the police cannot carry out operation in the forest because it is a high risk operation.

"They kidnap people daily, and receive between N3million and N5million as ransom," he said.
But the new guy said they weren't going to pick on fellow Muslims anymore. Ningi Emirate sounds Muslim rather than otherwise -- I guess the promise was just another takfiri lie.
The senator said the faceless myrmidons told their victims that they relocated from the Sambisa Forest, the hotbed of the Boko Haram faceless myrmidons in Borno state.

"They also said the faceless myrmidons are in hundreds and that they coordinate their operations from the forest," he said.

"They have collected so much money from the people but because the place is in remote area, it has not been given national prominence.

"The people are highly sophisticated, and to tackle them, we need serious surveillance, intelligence and equipment."

He said when the Senate reconvenes next month he would sponsor a motion with a view to attracting the attention of the security agencies to it.

"I’m going to write to the National Security Adviser, the Chief of Army Staff and the Director of DSS for them to intervene. There is need for combined efforts of all security agencies in order to tackle the terrorists," he said.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Syria doctors issue plea over Aleppo siege
I sense another road trip for James Taylor!
Syrian doctors in opposition districts of Aleppo have accused the United States of inaction in the face of repeated atrocities in the devastated city.

In a heart-wrenching letter addressed to US President Barack Obama, 15 of the 35 doctors in eastern neighborhoods of Syria’s second city warned the situation would be desperate for civilians if regime forces re-impose a siege.

On Saturday, rebels and allied jihadists broke a three-week government encirclement that had left residents of eastern Aleppo reeling from skyrocketing prices and food shortages.

But the pediatricians, surgeons, and other physicians who signed the letter said the situation remained dire.

“Unless a permanent lifeline to Aleppo is opened it will be only a matter of time until we are again surrounded by regime troops, hunger takes hold and hospitals’ supplies run completely dry.”
Unfortunately, war is hell.
A general view shows rising smoke from burning tyres, which activists said are used to create smoke cover from warplanes, in Aleppo. (Reuters)

The letter lambasts the US, saying it had seen “no effort on behalf of the United States to lift the siege or even use its influence to push the parties to protect civilians.”

“We do not need tears or sympathy or even prayers, we need your action. Prove that you are the friend of Syrians.”

The World Health Organization said Syria was the most dangerous place for health care workers to operate last year, with 135 attacks on health facilities and workers in 2015.

An estimated 250,000 people still live in the rebel-held eastern parts, with around 1.2 million in the government-controlled west.

Rebels and regime forces are amassing fighters around Aleppo ahead of what is likely to be a protracted battle for the northern city, whose hospitals and other civilian infrastructure have been ravaged by violence since mid-2012.

In late July, four makeshift hospitals and a blood bank in Aleppo city were hit by air raids in a single day.

Many of the signatories to the letter worked at those hospitals, where medicine is scarce and sandbags line the entrances.

“What pains us most, as doctors, is choosing who will live and who will die,” the doctors wrote. “Young children are sometimes brought into our emergency rooms so badly injured that we have to prioritise those with better chances, or simply don’t have the equipment to help them.”

The doctors lamented that for five years, they had “borne witness as countless patients, friends and colleagues suffered violent, tormented deaths.”

One attack two weeks ago left four newborn babies dead after the force of the blast cut off the oxygen supply to their incubator.

“Gasping for air, their lives ended before they had really begun.?”

At least 7 civilians dead, dozens wounded in two attacks in Turkey
[IsraelTimes] Over 30 injured in simultaneous bombings in nation’s southeast, with officials saying Kurdish rebels to blame

At least seven non-combatants were killed on Wednesday in two separate kabooms blamed on the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) in The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
’s southeast, a regional security source said.

Four were killed in a car kaboom in the center of the city of Diyarbakir while another three civilians bit the dust in a near simultaneous bombing in Kiziltepe in Mardin province to the south, said the source, who asked not to be named.

Both kabooms had been aimed at passing police vehicles, the Dogan news agency said. NTV television said 25 people were maimed in the Mardin attack and 13 people maimed in Diyarbakir.

The authorities believe both blasts have been carried out by the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), a Turkish official said.

Hundreds of members of the Turkish security forces have been killed by the PKK in attacks since the collapse of a two-year ceasefire in July last year.

Earlier Wednesday, five Turkish soldiers were killed in an attack blamed on PKK gunnies in Uludere in the southeastern Sirnak province close to the Iraqi border.

Iran-backed militias suffering big losses in Yemen
JEDDAH: Saudi-led coalition jets on Thursday pounded Iran-backed Houthi rebel positions in and around Sanaa for a third consecutive day, as shelling from Yemen killed a woman in Saudi Arabia.

Military sources loyal to the the government of President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi said the air raids targeted only military positions held by the Houthis and their allies, supporters of deposed President Ali Abdullah Saleh.

Also on Thursday a Saudi woman was killed and seven other people wounded by shelling from Yemen, the Civil Defense said. It came hours after a civilian was killed and seven others wounded late Wednesday in Jazan also in shelling from Yemen, it added.

Meanwhile, 10 fighters from a pro-government militia have been killed when suspected Al-Qaeda militants targeted their convoy with two car bombs.

Yemeni officials said the attack took place in the Yafea area in Lahj, where Al-Qaeda controls several areas, including a large base in which it has stockpiled heavy weapons looted from army depots elsewhere.

Meanwhile, rebel militias in Yemen are suffering great losses, coalition spokesman Maj. Gen. Ahmed Al-Assiri has announced.

“The legitimate forces now control 80 percent of Yemeni territories while in March 2015, they had no control on the ground. Also, a large number of Houthi rebels were killed and their military powers destroyed,” he said.

Al-Assiri said calls from rebels to hold a Parliament session next Saturday is evidence of their “bankruptcy” and their continuous miserable antics.

“What they are trying to do is an attempt to delude the international community that they are keen on filling the political vacuum in Yemen.” He said a large number of Houthis killed during the past weeks were children who had participated in the fighting operations.

Afghanistan
Roads to Lashkargah City Blocked As War Rages
Lawmakers in parliament Thursday blasted the Afghan government for failing to define a wide-ranging war strategy for Helmand to curb the Taliban advance, warning that the entire province will collapse to the Taliban unless government take swift action to thwart the Taliban offensives on multiple fronts in the volatile province.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Defense (MoD) has confirmed that the war is raging around Lashkargah city, the provincial capital, but assures the public that the Taliban will not be able to take control of the city.

Lashkargah city enjoys common borders with Marjah, Nad Ali, Nawa, Garmsir and Greshk districts.

Reports from Helmand say all routes to LashkargGah city have been closed.

The Baba Ji area which is located five kilometers away from Lashkargah, the Ainak area which connects Nawa to Lashkargah and Chahanjir areas of the province have been under intense fighting over the past few days.

"Helmand province will be protected at any cost, Helmand province will be cleared and no threats will reach Lashkargah," a defense ministry spokesman Dawlat Waziri said.

Helmand has 14 districts with five of them out of government's control including Musa Qala, Nawzad, Desho, Nawmesh and Baghran.

Insurgents are also trying to tighten grips on seven other districts of Marjah, Greshk, Nad Ali, Sangeen, Kajaki, Kajaki and Washir.

In recent waves of violence, the fighting has expanded in Garmsir and Nawa districts.

"If Helmand collapses, five more provinces will also collapse," said senator Hashim Alokozai.

"It is a normal routine that sometimes the enemy gets more strength and units are forced to retreat from certain areas," said Waziri.

"In the past the commanders have not focused on the security issues and all issues were tackled through smuggling," said MP Naseema Niazi.

The Ministry of Defense (MoD) has not provided an exact figure about the number of security forces and the Taliban fighters in Helmand, but analysts say that the number of government forces fighting the insurgents in the province were much higher.

The only question before the residents of Helmand is how the Afghan forces despite having more military strength and personnel than the Taliban failed to eliminate the Taliban in the volatile province.
