Firecrackers Spark Stampede At French Riviera Resort
A noise that sounded like gunfire sparked panic at a French Riviera resort as people rushed to flee what they believed was a terror attack, causing a number of injuries, the fire service said.

The noise was caused by firecrackers thrown from a car, local radio France Bleu Azur reported, adding that around 40 people were injured in the incident late Sunday in Juan-les-Pins.

Video footage showed tables and chairs overturned on the terraces of cafes and restaurants near the beach and people screaming in the stampede.

The incident came amid heightened tension in France after a string of attacks claimed by the Islamic State (IS) group, including the July 14 massacre in the Mediterranean city of Nice when a Tunisian ploughed a truck into crowds celebrating Bastille Day, killing 85 people.

A state of emergency was declared in France after November's IS attacks in Paris which left 130 people dead.

The fire service in Juan-les-Pins, known for its vibrant nightlife and annual jazz festival, said a number of people were lightly injured but did not say how many.

Police were examining CCTV footage to determine the exact cause of the incident.

The Nice Matin newspaper quoted witnesses as saying beachgoers rushed into the streets of the busy nightlife area on hearing what they feared was gunfire.

One witness told AFP he saw "a lot of people running" in a "stampede caused by the panic" that "left dozens of people slightly injured".

The injured were treated at the scene, some in the restaurants, and "police cordoned off the town centre," he said.

In New York on Sunday, unfounded reports of shots fired at the city's main John F. Kennedy airport triggered scenes of panic, evacuations and huge flight delays.

An expert says we won't have to wait until October for an election-changing surprise
[Bus Insider] A well-respected author, who has been called the "premier futurist in the national security environment" by The Wall Street Journal, thinks that we won't have to wait too much longer for an "October Surprise" that could have major implications for the presidential election.

"I don't think we're going to have to wait until October," Dr. Peter Singer, a strategist at the think tank New America and the author of "Ghost Fleet," told Business Insider. "There's clearly more to come."

Singer spoke with Business Insider about the ongoing leaks from the massive hack into the Democratic National Committee by two different Russia-linked hacker groups. A hacker calling himself "Guccifer 2.0" initially posted an opposition research file on Donald Trump before moving on to embarrassing emails within the DNC and personal-contact information for House Democrats.

Many in the Democratic Party are fearing the release of documents that could be much worse.

US nuclear weapons at Turkey's Incirlik Air Base could be 'a roll of the dice' from falling to the wrong hands
[Bus Insider] Dozens of US nuclear weapons stored at a Turkish air base near Syria are at risk of being captured by "terrorists or other hostile forces," a Washington think tank claimed Monday.

Critics have long been alarmed by America's estimated stockpile of about 50 nuclear bombs at Incirlik in southern Turkey, just 70 miles from the border with war-torn Syria.

The issue took on fresh urgency last month following the attempted coup in Turkey, in which the base's Turkish commander was arrested on suspicion of complicity in the plot.

"Whether the US could have maintained control of the weapons in the event of a protracted civil conflict in Turkey is an unanswerable question," said Monday's report from the Stimson Center, a nonpartisan think tank working to promote peace.

Incirlik is a vital base for the US-led coalition fighting the Islamic State group in Iraq and Syria, with the strategically located facility affording drones and warplanes fast access to IS targets.

But the Pentagon in March ordered families of US troops and civilian personnel stationed in southern Turkey to quit the region due to security fears.

"From a security point of view, it's a roll of the dice to continue to have approximately 50 of America's nuclear weapons stationed at Incirlik Air Base in Turkey," report co-author Laicie Heeley said.

"There are significant safeguards in place. ... But safeguards are just that, they don't eliminate risk. In the event of a coup, we can't say for certain that we would have been able to maintain control," she told AFP.

Hacking group purportedly hacked NSA-linked Equation Group, auctioning cyber weapons
You don't see this every day...a hacking group claims to have hacked a U.S. intelligence agency-linked hacking group and has put the 'best' cyber weapons up for auction.

When Kaspersky Lab released a report on the cyberespionage "Equation Group," researchers said the threat actor "surpasses anything known in terms of complexity and sophistication of techniques." The group's toolset resembled what is used by U.S. intelligence agencies and included an attack that could reprogram your hard drive firmware. Kaspersky didn't go so far as to accuse the NSA of being linked to the Equation Group, but many news outlets and security researchers did.

Well now a group dubbed the Shadow Brokers claim to have hacked the Equation Group and put the possible NSA-linked cyber weapons up for auction.

Quite honestly this could be fake ‐ even the broken English announcement could be faked to make the attackers seem to not use English as their native language ‐ but the Shadow Brokers said on GitHub:
How much you pay for enemies cyber weapons? Not malware you find in networks. Both sides, RAT + LP, full state sponsor tool set? We find cyber weapons made by creators of stuxnet, duqu, flame. Kaspersky calls Equation Group. We follow Equation Group traffic. We find Equation Group source range. We hack Equation Group. We find many many Equation Group cyber weapons. You see pictures. We give you some Equation Group files free, you see. This is good proof no? You enjoy!!! You break many things. You find many intrusions. You write many words. But not all, we are auction the best files.

Hillary Clinton's free college-tuition plan short on specifics
Hillary Clinton, who prides herself on the details of public policy, has said little about what is now the most ambitious and expensive proposal on her agenda: making public college tuition free for most Americans.

On the campaign trail, she typically offers a sentence, maybe two, about the plan. Sometimes it goes unmentioned altogether. Her campaign has offered few specifics about how the program would work, hasn't said how much money states would have to provide or where the program would fall on her list of priorities.

The campaign website no longer lists a cost for the program, though campaign aides said they estimate it would take $500 billion in new federal spending over 10 years, $150 billion more than the college plan she put out last summer. Others estimate the costs would be much higher.
Certainly when the deans, chancellors, chairpersons and university presidents get done the costs will be much higher...
The sketchiness may owe something to the way the free-tuition plan came to be part of Mrs. Clinton's platform. Rather than taking months or years to craft, like many of her other proposals, it was inserted as part of negotiations in July to win the backing of Democratic rival Sen. Bernie Sanders.
Besides, who would want to flesh out the terms of a bribe in public?
Lanae Erickson Hatalsky, who tracks higher education and other issues at the centrist Democratic think tank Third Way, said it was obvious that the plan was put together to win over Mr. Sanders.

Most of Mrs. Clinton's policy proposals "are five pages of dense text with very specific ways of how they're going to pay for it and how much it would cost," she said. "This sounded much more like something intended to energize a campaign rally."

The Clinton plan still is more detailed than most of the ideas put forth by her opponent, Republican Donald Trump, who doesn't typically give the cost of his plans and sometimes changes significant planks. Still, Mrs. Clinton prides herself on her policy chops and says candidates owe it to voters to be clear about their plans. Mr. Trump's campaign didn't respond to a request for comment.

Mrs. Clinton says she would pay for the college plan with higher taxes on the wealthy, including new limits on deductions.
Does that include all the donors to the Clinton Foundation...
Campaign aides said that once school is back in session and younger voters are paying more attention, she would talk more about the college plan.

Clinton spokesman Jesse Ferguson said Mrs. Clinton is "deeply committed" to the revised plan. "Hillary Clinton put forward an ambitious proposal in the primary and, after listening to voters on the campaign trail, expanded it to more effectively reach the goal of erasing the barrier of debt to a college of education," he said.

Passing this program into law will be a challenge, though, particularly if Republicans continue to control at least one house of Congress. Even some Democrats think Mrs. Clinton's first proposal would have a better chance and worry that the revised version is too heavy a lift.

The new Clinton policy was described in a single paragraph issued by the campaign in early July amid talks with Mr. Sanders, who had campaigned against her in the primary on a more expansive free-tuition plan. His concept was that public colleges should be free for all, like public high schools.

Mrs. Clinton had already put forth a detailed plan last summer to assure that students could attend public colleges without borrowing money for tuition, but she said families should contribute what they could afford. To win over Mr. Sanders, Mrs. Clinton agreed that students in families earning $85,000 a year or less would be assured free tuition, with that threshold climbing to $125,000 over four years.

The political goals were clear. The policy was a priority for Mr. Sanders, and after her shift, he endorsed her. She also put herself in position to appeal to younger voters, who overwhelmingly backed Mr. Sanders in the primaries and are an important part of the coalition that twice elected President Barack Obama.

In his speech at July's Democratic National Convention endorsing Mrs. Clinton, Mr. Sanders specifically cited this policy shift. It was one of several she made that were key to winning his support, including an agreement to back additional funding for community health centers.

Mary Schwalm/Reuters Sen. Bernie Sanders, right, endorsed Mrs. Clinton at an event in Portsmouth, N.H., on July 12. At the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia, Mr. Sanders cited Mrs. Clinton's shift on college-tuition policy, which helped to win his support.

For now, the new plan appears to cut against two points Mrs. Clinton made during the primaries.

First, she had long described her plan, which she calls the New College Compact, as a balanced way of making sure all players have "skin in the game," including federal and state governments, universities, families and students.

"I think it ought to be a compact," she said during a Democratic debate last year. "Families contribute, kids contribute."

Under her new plan, 80% of families would qualify for tuition-free school, even if they could afford some contribution. A Clinton aide replied by noting that students are still expected to have a job that will help pay expenses, and said that it is most important that government pay its fair share.

Second, one of her chief criticisms of the Sanders tuition-free plan was that it relied on governors, including critical Republican governors, to put up one-third of the funding. But her plan requires substantial state contributions as well, though her campaign hasn't specified how much.

The Clinton aide said states will be more likely to fund her plan because it would be phased in gradually.

She did stick by her view, voiced often during the primaries, that the government shouldn't offer free tuition to very rich families.

Other aspects of the Clinton plan would lower borrowing costs for existing borrowers and those who attend private colleges, and would make community college free.

Where Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump Stand on Economic Issues

Meantime, Mrs. Clinton appears to be offering another change to her program that she hasn't yet explained. In an economic speech on Thursday, she promised "tuition-free" college for the middle class, and "debt-free college" for everyone.

Aides said debt-free is a goal meant to assure no student has to borrow money to pay any college costs, including room, board and other expenses, which can represent half the total costs. That goes beyond her original concept and isn't detailed in the pages of facts sheets provided by her campaign.

Many advocates welcome the expansions. Tamara Draut, of the advocacy group Demos, which promotes debt-free college, said it is essential that students be able to pay for all college expenses without taking loans, and that this is her understanding of the Clinton plan. She said she expects more details to come.

"I think we're a long way from governing and there is more detail there than her opponent's policy platforms, for sure," she said.

#1  Current student debt is just north of a trillion dollars. She'd have to wipe that slate clean and pay off the banks, otherwise, it wouldn't be 'fair'. Don't forget to add that to the 'cost'.

Then I'd need to be compensated for my student loans, which were all paid off within (about) five years of graduation. Oh, and include forty years of interest, Ms. Clinton. Thank you.

Citing Clinton, sailor seeks leniency in submarine photos case
A Navy sailor facing the possibility of years in prison for taking a handful of classified photos inside a nuclear submarine is making a bid for leniency by citing the decision not to prosecute Hillary Clinton over classified information authorities say was found in her private email account.
Let the fallout begin.
Petty Officer First Class Kristian Saucier, 29, is set to be sentenced Friday on a single felony charge of retaining national defense information without permission. In May, Saucier pleaded guilty in federal court in Bridgeport, Conn., admitting that while working on the U.S.S. Alexandria in 2009 he took and kept six photos showing parts of the sub's propulsion system he knew to be classified.

The defense and prosecutors agree that sentencing guidelines in the case call for a prison term of 63 to 78 months, but defense attorney Derrick Hogan cited the treatment of Clinton as he argued in a filing last week that Saucier should get probation instead.

"Democratic Presidential Candidate and former Secretary of State Hilary [sic] Clinton...has come under scrutiny for engaging in acts similar to Mr. Saucier," Hogan wrote. He noted that FBI Director James Comey said 110 emails in 52 email chains in Clinton's account contained information deemed classified at the time, including eight chains with "top secret" information and 36 with "secret" information.
Not to mention the compartmentalized info. But hey, that does that matter since it was a while ago?
"In our case, Mr. Saucier possessed six (6) photographs classified as 'confidential/restricted,' far less than Clinton's 110 emails," Hogan wrote. "It will be unjust and unfair for Mr. Saucier to receive any sentence other than probation for a crime those more powerful than him will likely avoid."
I suspect one of the reasons it took so long for Shrillary's case to be decided was trying to figure out a way to allow folks like Saucier to be prosecuted while allowing Shrillary to "walk". It will be interesting to see what the judge magically comes up with as being the distinction that doesn't really make a real difference.
There are distinctions between the cases. Saucier admitted as part of a plea bargain that he "knew from his training and his specialized work upon the submarine" that the photos contained classified information and he wasn't authorized to take them. He also admitted that after being confronted by law enforcement in 2012 he destroyed a laptop, camera and memory card.

Clinton has said she didn't know any information on her server was classified, although Comey has said anyone in Clinton's position "should have known that an unclassified system was no place" for some of the subjects being discussed. While Clinton had tens of thousands of emails erased from her system in 2014, she did so with the advice of lawyers and before the FBI investigation was underway.

Saucier's drive for leniency may ultimately benefit more from the treatment of some of his fellow submates than from the handling of cases involving Clinton or other prominent officials. Hogan cites incidents involving two other Navy sailors on the Alexandria who were caught taking photos in classified spaces on the vessel. One received a one rank reduction and was docked $560 in pay. The other was just docked $560 in pay. Both cases were handled through a Captain's Mast hearing used for relatively minor cases.
And maybe this will be how Shrillary's case will be separated from Sauciers. Avoidance.
Letters submitted on Saucier's behalf attempt to shift some of the blame to the Navy, both over the command climate for junior sailors on the Alexandria and lax policies in that era towards electronics on subs.

"We worked them too hard, we didn't give them as much time off as we should have, we didn't treat them with the dignity and respect that they deserved, and we never let off. Ever," wrote retired Chief Machinists Mate Scott Nelson, who worked with Saucier on the Alexandria. "The men were showing signs of cracking left and right...The human pieces of the machine were being pushed past their limits."

"I believe that we, the leadership own a significant portion of the blame for creating the environment where these men thought this was a good idea," Nelson added.

Another former colleague of Saucier's, Ryan Meldrum, called Saucier a "war hero" and wrote that the case should have been handled in the Navy by bumping the sailor down a rank.

"I am sorry to see that this is taking up time in Federal District Court, but I pray that this can be disposed of so as to not dissuade other patriots such as Kris from serving our great country," said Meldrum, who recent graduated from Pace University law school.

"Kris does not deserve what he is going through....If you look at the Navy records you will see countless mishandling classified material cases where many people are still in the Navy and many more where people were asked to get out," added Mark Robb, another former submate who said he was pushed out of the Navy over a similar incident in 2014.

Some submitting letters on Saucier's behalf attribute the relatively tough treatment he seems to be receiving to "serious" allegations his ex-wife leveled at him early in the investigation. Saucier's defense disputes a probation officer's conclusion that the sailor intended to share some of the photos with "foreign agencies," an allegation that prosecutors have not made publicly.

Still, court records show the probation officer is recommending Saucier receive less than the five-year, three-month sentence called for by federal guidelines. The precise recommendations from the probation official and prosecutors have not been made public.
Or maybe false lenience now, then relying on this being a one-off leniency combined with the Memory Hole effect regarding Shrillary's emails.
Saucier remains in the Navy, but expects to be dismissed from the service with an "other than honorable" discharge, the defense filing said.
Maybe we should dismiss Shrillary while we're at it.

Hillary scrubs sexual assault pledge after allegations against Bill resurface
"The Clinton campaign has removed a pledge from its website stating that all survivors of sexual assault "have the right to be believed."

On a page dedicated to "Campus sexual assault" on HillaryClinton.com, this passage from the Democratic presidential candidate used to be prominently featured last year: "I want to send a message to every survivor of sexual assault: Don't let anyone silence your voice. You have the right to be heard. You have the right to be believed, and we're with you."

But by February of this year, those lines had been deleted, according to BuzzFeed News.

The website says the scrubbing came after the election-cycle re-emergence of Juanita Broaddrick, who has accused Bill Clinton of raping her in 1978 when he was lieutenant governor of Arkansas.

Broaddrick has accused Hillary Clinton of enabling her husband -- and of threatening her to keep her allegations against Bill Clinton silent.

"It’s important for everyone to know that Hillary Clinton is not innocent in all of the coverup and the attempted attacks on all of the women that Bill Clinton abused," Broaddrick told Boston radio station WRKO.

Republican Donald Trump has repeated Broaddrick’s rape allegations in a bid to bolster his candidacy, and even released video of Broaddrick and another woman who’s accused Bill Clinton of sexual harassment, Kathleen Willey.

In May, Trump released an Instagram ad featuring the two accusers.

Dozens of US nuclear weapons stored at a Turkish air base near Syria are at risk of being captured by "terrorists or other hostile forces," a Washington think tank warned Monday.

Critics have long been alarmed by America’s estimated stockpile of about 50 nuclear bombs at Incirlik in southern Turkey, just 110 kilometers (70 miles) from the border with war-torn Syria.

The issue took on fresh urgency last month following the attempted coup in Turkey, in which the base’s Turkish commander was arrested on suspicion of complicity in the plot.

"Whether the US could have maintained control of the weapons in the event of a protracted civil conflict in Turkey is an unanswerable question," said Monday's report from the Stimson Center, which describes itself as a "nonpartisan think tank devoted to addressing transnational challenges in order to enhance global peace and economic prosperity."

Incirlik is a vital base for the US-led coalition fighting the Islamic State group in Iraq and Syria, with the strategically located facility affording drones and warplanes fast access to IS targets.

"The continued presence of these weapons at five sites in Europe, particularly in Turkey, raises serious risks of their seizure by terrorists or other hostile forces," the report said.

But the Pentagon in March ordered families of US troops and civilian personnel stationed in southern Turkey to quit the region due to security fears.

"From a security point of view, it’s a roll of the dice to continue to have approximately 50 of America’s nuclear weapons stationed at Incirlik Air Base in Turkey," report co-author Laicie Heeley said.

"There are significant safeguards in place. ... But safeguards are just that, they don't eliminate risk. In the event of a coup, we can't say for certain that we would have been able to maintain control," she told AFP.

Army veteran arrested for hanging US flag upside down in protest
An Iowa man was arrested Thursday and was charged with desecrating the U.S. flag after hanging it upside down beneath a Chinese flag in protest at his home.

The Fort Dodge Messenger reported that Homer Martz, an Army veteran, of Somers, put up the flag to protest an oil pipeline being built without his consent next to a well that supplies water to his home. Martz said he was arrested at by Calhoun County sheriffs at around 11 a.m.

"Martz said he didn't know he was breaking the law. According to Iowa code 718A, Martz was charged with a misdemeanor because he tried to "publicly mutilate, deface, defile or defy, trample upon, cast contempt upon, satirize, deride or burlesque, either by words or act, such flag, standard, color, ensign, shield, or other insignia of the United States, or flag, ensign, great seal, or other insignia of this state."

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Suspected shooter in Queens slaying of Imam and friend taken into police custody, may have been settling score in Muslim-Hispanic feud
[NYDailyNews] The killer who crept up behind an imam and his friend near a Queens mosque and shot both men in the head may have been settling a score in a feud between Muslims and Hispanics, police sources said early Monday.

And he may have left behind another victim who unwittingly held the clue that solved the crime, the sources said.

The suspected killer was taken into custody Sunday night but had not been charged or identified, according to the sources. Police officials would not confirm whether a suspect was nabbed.

Video of the horrific Saturday afternoon murders of mosque leader Maulama Akonjee, 55, and Thara Uddin, 65, at Liberty Ave. and 79th St. in Ozone Park showed the brazen crime to be a planned execution.

But the killer may have gotten sloppy in his haste after pulling the trigger and hit a bicyclist with his car, sources said.

The cyclist took down the car's license plate number and gave it to police, who began tracking down their man.

Members of an NYPD Regional Fugitive Task Force were conducting what turned out to be a "brief surveillance" of the suspect in Queens when he rammed an unmarked cop car, sources said. That's when officers nabbed him.

Investigators were questioning him early Monday and were waiting for a warrant to check his home.

Sources pointed to an ongoing feud between Muslims and Hispanics in the neighborhood, saying the shooting may have been payback after a group of Muslims allegedly attacked some Hispanics a few weeks earlier.

Mercer: The Clinton Media's Manufactured Reality
[Townhall] The Clinton Media have gone from malfunctioning to mad, from "dishonest" to deranged. Their coverage of the 2016 election is no longer tinged by liberal bias, but is about moving viewers and readers into a parallel universe, an alternate reality of the media’s making.

The media monolith’s latest imbecility is to offer effusive plaudits for their candidate, Hillary, because this life-long politician whose ill-gotten gains have come via the political means, not the private productive means, has released her tax returns for 2015.

This is something Donald Trump has yet to do--for the candidate is under audit and has been advised to refrain from doing anything that’ll give the most corrupt and dangerous of government agencies a lien on his assets--or liberty, for that matter.

Befitting an arm of our technocratic managerial state--the Internal Revenue Service regularly criminalizes the actions of "non-compliant" victims, even when the alleged crime is, more often than not, unintentional. And it matters not that the "Rights of Englishmen," bequeathed to the American Founders by their philosophical forbears, stipulated that there is to be no crime without intent. Also unconstitutional is ex post facto (or retroactive) law. Yet the rogues at the IRS routinely change laws as they go, and criminalize "actions that were legal when committed."

Half-mad Lyrics

I am only half-mad, no need to be frightened of me
I am only half-mad, screaming's just a passtime
I am only half-mad, but there's no room left for hatred
I am only half-mad, other half is rage and anger
I am only half-mad, sometimes I am self destructive
I am only half-mad, can't afford too much self pity
I am only half-mad, black and blue's my favorite color
I am only half-mad, other half is rage and anger
I am only half-mad, and my madness is unstable
I am only half-mad, my half-mind is fading slowly
I am only half-mad, screaming silence overcomes me
I am only half-mad, other half is rage and anger
I am only half-mad, but I'm trying for three quarters
I am only half-mad, got no patience for confusion
I am only half-mad, running out of thoughts to give you
I am only half-mad, other half is rage and anger

I wouldn't call it evasion per se, he just got too aggressive and took some child care expenses that he shouldn't have. To wit - his kids went to day camps that also offered overnight stays. The overnight stays aren't deductible, as page 2 of the relevant instructions clearly state. I don't remember / believe if there were any other tax matters he messed up on, at which point I would call it evasion.

Europe
NATO Partner Turkey: Give us EU visa freedom in October or abandon migrant deal
[Reuters] Turkey could walk away from its promise to stem the flow of illegal migrants to Europe if the European Union fails to grant Turks visa-free travel to the bloc in October, Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu told a German newspaper.

His comments in Bild's Monday edition coincide with rising tension between Ankara and the West following the July 15 failed coup attempt. Turkey is incensed by what it sees as an insensitive response from Western allies to the failed putsch in which 240 people, many of them civilians, were killed.

Europe and the United States have been worried by the crackdown following the coup. Some Western governments are concerned this could affect stability in the NATO member and suspect that President Tayyip Erdogan is using the purges as an excuse to quash dissent.

Asked whether hundreds of thousands of refugees in Turkey would head to Europe if the EU did not grant Turks visa freedom from October, Cavusoglu told Bild: "I don't want to talk about the worst case scenario - talks with the EU are continuing but it's clear that we either apply all treaties at the same time or we put them all aside."

Visa-free access to the EU - the main reward for Ankara's collaboration in choking off an influx of migrants into Europe - has been subject to delays due to a dispute over Turkish anti-terrorism legislation, as well as Ankara's crackdown.

Brussels wants Turkey to soften the anti-terrorism law, which Ankara says it cannot change, given multiple security threats which include Islamic State militants in neighboring Syria and Kurdish militants in its mainly Kurdish southeast.

European Commissioner Guenther Oettinger has said he does not see the EU granting Turks visa-free travel this year due to Ankara's crackdown after the failed military coup.

Cavusoglu said treaties laid out that all Turks would get visa freedom in October, adding: "It can't be that we implement everything that is good for the EU but that Turkey gets nothing in return."

A spokesman for the European Commission declined to comment on the interview directly but said the EU continued to work together with Turkey in all areas of cooperation.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Hezbollah, Hamas Officials Confirm: Iran Funds Our Activity
[Breitbart Israel] TEL AVIV ‐ Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah admitted that the terror group’s entire budget is provided by Iran, an Arab news report claimed.

The report is one of many that have appeared recently in Arab media, citing statements from senior officials confirming that terror organizations including Hezbollah, Islamic Jihad, and Hamas are receiving the lion’s share of their funding from Iran, mainly from the office of Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and Iran’s Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC).

In a June speech delivered by Nasrallah following the imposition of U.S. sanctions on the terror group, the secretary-general clarified:

"Hezbollah’s budget ‐ its salaries and expenditures, its food and drink, weapons and missiles ‐ [all come from] Iran. Is that clear?" Nasrallah was quoted saying to Lebanon’s Al Ahed news, translated by the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI).

"As long as Iran has money we have money. Do you require greater transparency than that[?] The funds earmarked for us do not reach us through the banks. We receive them the same way we receive our missiles with which we threaten Israel."

-Short Attention Span Theater-
8 Reasons For The Fall of Rome
[History Channel] In the late fourth century, the Western Roman Empire crumbled after a nearly 500-year run as the world’s greatest superpower. Historians have blamed the collapse on hundreds of different factors ranging from military failures and crippling taxation to natural disasters and even climate change. Still others argue that the Roman Empire didn’t really fall in 476 A.D., since its eastern half continued for another thousand years in the form of the Byzantine Empire. While just how--and when--the Empire fell remains a subject of ongoing debate, certain theories have emerged as the most popular explanations for Western Rome’s decline and disintegration. Read on to discover eight reasons why one of history’s most legendary empires finally came crashing down.

1. Invasions by Barbarian tribes
2. Economic troubles and overreliance on slave labor
3. The rise of the Eastern Empire
4. Overexpansion and military overspending
5. Government corruption and political instability
6. The arrival of the Huns and the migration of the Barbarian tribes
7. Christianity and the loss of traditional values
8. Weakening of the Roman legions

#1  Whaddaload.

The Eastern Empire is still Rome. It lasted another 1000 years under Christianity. Scratch those two "causes".

Slavery and economic instability were not new, and the replacements still had both. There's a collection of Roman coins at the Palazzo Massimo Museum that show the coinage fluctuating from silver to base to silver and back -- while the empire was still growing. Scratch those.

The military was weakened because of corruption; part of the answer was to hire entire tribes in exchange for Roman citizenship and land. Fewer ethnic or cultural Romans served because they we'r the most productive workers, and the Senators valued their income more than the safety of the Imperial fringes.

Political instability was so common -- in the early and late Empire -- that stability was remarkable -- and under the Eastern Empire the one time succession went the way everyone expected, they were so shocked they gave the emperor the by-name "born to the purple".

Rome fell largely because the political elite stopped caring about Romans so much as themselves.

#4  Anders article and the reasons for the fall of the Roman Empire doesn't translate directly into modern times items one-for-one but there are definitely parallels today. Invasions of the barbarbian tribes could be translated into unrestricted immigration of often "hostiles" with little vetting or assimilation, loss of values (✔), economic troubles (✔), government corruption (✔), and weakening of the military (✔).

#5  The military was weakened because of corruption; part of the answer was to hire entire tribes in exchange for Roman citizenship and land

For which the barbarians developed the skills and organizational abilities that the Romans had bringing them on par in battles. See - The Battle of Adrianople (9 August 378)

Remember the late Republic and Early Empire, capital was created through conquest and looting of enriched neighbors. Part of the reason the East lasted so long was it was far more economically viable as a region than the West. Once the expansion was done, the availability of new economic resources became a zero sum game.

#16  What causes nations or empires to be defeated and to disappear?
There are two essentials; there must be external enemies willing to take over. And the entity must lose the ability to defend itself from them.
Surprisingly enough, a long period of internal peace and external security is the main cause of the second cause.
Until near the end of the Fourth Century, there was constant strife within and without Western Europe. The Germanic tribes were mainly hostile to the Roman Empire, and the heads of the legions that defended the Empire from them, when not occupied by such efforts, dreamed of widening their powers to other areas. Most of the time there were several "Caesars" and two or three "Caesar Augustus's" among them, and these (who we call emperors) were constantly fighting, and fighting off would be rivals from among the legion leaders.
The Emperor Julian (the Apostate) was a highly successful military leader until his death fighting the Persians. He came up with a solution that created internal stability. He required that every official city or town in the empire create a locally selected council, which had to approve of all its expenses. This meant that military leaders were deprived of their absolute rule, and greatly weakened their powers. It cut down on internal strife, as intended, but also put economic stress on the legions. They became less attractive for locals. As the Germanic tribes became more comfortable with Roman life, they were happy to serve in the legions, which paid better than alternatives at home. The Western Romans, experiencing too much peace lost interest in and ability to defend themselves.
In the East, there were Turks and Persians and Arabs and others who were not subdued, and who required its Empire to keep on its toes until modern times.
Funny that nobody seems to remember this.

[Breitbart] A row has erupted between the Turkish and Austrian governments following a decision by the Turkish Constitutional court to effectively lower the age of consent in Turkey to 12.

The decision, made last month, was reported in Austrian newspapers whose headlines were used in news tickers at Vienna’s international airport. This caused Turkey to summon Austria’s charge d’affairs on Saturday. The headline has now been removed from the ticker.

Ankara summons Austria envoy over age of consent
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
's foreign ministry has summoned the Austrian charge d'affaires in protest at what it said was a "false" news ticker at Vienna airport about the age of consent, further damaging ties between the two countries.

Ankara voiced fury at the headline broadcast on screens at the airport which said Turkey allowed sex with children under the age of 15.

"This headline tarnishes the image of Turkey, and is false," a Turkish diplomat said after the Austrian envoy was summoned to the ministry on Saturday.

The Turkish constitutional court last month ruled in favor of removing an article in the criminal code which characterizes all sexual acts with a child of less 15 years as "sexual abuse".

Relations between Ankara and Vienna have taken a dive in recent days, with several Austrian ministers speaking out against Turkey's longstanding bid to join the European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
, particularly in the wake of the massive purge that followed the July 15 coup bid.

Austrian Defense Minister Hans-Peter Doskozil has compared Turkey to a "dictatorship", while Turkey's Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu decried Austria as the "capital of radical racism".

Afghanistan
Taliban takes control of Dahana-e-Ghori in North of Afghanistan
The Taliban militants have taken control of Dahana-e-Ghori district in northern Baghlan province of Afghanistan earlier tonight.

A provincial council member speaking on the condition of anonymity confirmed the fall of the district.

The government security officials have not commented regarding the report so far.

The Taliban militants launched a coordinated attack on Dahana-e-Ghori district four days ago that led to heavy clashes in the area until the control of the district was fully taken earlier tonight.

This comes as the Afghan forces cleared the district from the Taliban presence by launching a major operation around three months ago.

The Taliban insurgents also suffered heavy casualties during the clashes in Dahana-e-Ghori and Dand-e-Shahabuddin areas of northern Baghlan province earlier this year.

The operations in Baghlan were launched amid concerns that the militants of the Taliban group are preparing the spring offensive by creating sanctuaries in this province.

The Taliban insurgents launched a major attack to take control of the strategic Kunduz city earlier in the month of April but the offensive was repulsed by the Afghan security forces.

However, the security situation of a number of northern provinces including the strategic Kunduz province still remain unstable.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Syrian rebels say al-Bab is on their Christmas list

[ARA News] KOBANE – The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced Sunday the formation of the al-Bab Military Council led by 16 military commanders. The city of al-Bab hosts the foreign intelligence headquarters of ISIS group, and was used by ISIS to plan attacks.

A French member of the SDF told ARA News that their forces aim to liberate as much as territory from ISIS as possible.

During a press conference, the al-Bab Military Council announced that they follow the example of the SDF-led Manbij Military Council that liberated Manbij city from ISIS last Friday.

“Drawing on the experience of our neighbours in liberated Manbij and it’s countryside, it has become necessary for us to work together to liberate our people, as a step to the liberation of all of Syria, and to build a common home,” the council said.

“That’s why we announced the founding of the military council of al-Bab and its countryside,” the organization said.

Leadership of the newly formed military council stressed that they are open to all factions and figures to join the council to fight against the Islamic State group, and called on the displaced civilians from al-Bab to join the council to fight ISIS.

Also, the al-Bab council called on the US-led coalition to support them “to liberate our land and our people from the Daesh terrorists’.

So far, it’s unclear whether the coalition would support this operation, since the coalition forces said they would now focus on retaking Raqqa–ISIS de facto capital in Syria.

“I think yes the objective of the Syrian Democratic Forces is to liberate as much areas as possible from the territories of Daesh [ISIS],” French fighter of the SDF, nicknamed Soran, told ARA News on Sunday. “Al-Bab is close to us [from Manbij], only 20 to 40 kilometers, so we have to go there, and Jarabulus too,” he said.

“We have to liberate all this part of northern Syria, everybody knows that Daesh [ISIS] gets all its weapons, volunteers from the Turkish border, and every week 100 jihadists cross the Turkish border, and Turkey is indirectly supporting Daesh,” he said.

“If we take al-Bab and Jarabulus, and make a junction with the moderate opposition in Afrin, the border will be closed, and Daesh will be isolated from the rest of the world,” Soran added.

“I am happy if this operation would start, because many of the attackers of 13th November came from the Manbij pocket, and received training. So we have to close this border,” he said.

Afghan officials: ISIS expands presence in restive south
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The ISIS group, which has been building a presence in Afghanistan for more than a year, has established a recruitment and training camp in a restive southern province bordering Pakistain, Afghan officials said.

Last year, hundreds of holy warriors fled to Afghanistan from neighboring Pakistain, where the military launched a campaign to clear bully boyz from the lawless tribal regions in the country’s north. Among them were members of the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan, who joined forces with local Taliban fighters to attack northern Afghan cities such as Kunduz, which was briefly overrun in September.

The Pak military campaign also caused around 400 families loyal to the ISIS group to flee to Afghanistan, Afghan authorities said. The families, many of them Arabs and Chechens, settled in the southern province of Zabul, in the district of Khak-e-Afghan, a former Taliban stronghold with a history of holy warrior violence that has made it a no-go area for Afghan cops.

B-1, B-2 and B-52 Bombers All Descend on Guam in a Massive Show of Force
[The National Interest] Talk about unusual. On Aug. 10, the U.S. Air Force announced it had sent its B-2 Spirit stealth bombers to join older, non-stealthy B-52 Stratofortresses and B-1 Lancers on Guam.

It’s an extraordinary show of force in the Pacific region, because for the first time ever, America has based all three heavy bomber types on the island at once.

Deborah Lee James, the Air Force secretary, described the deployments as providing a "valuable opportunity for our bomber crews to integrate and train together, as well as with our allies and partners through the region in a variety of missions."

But James did not elaborate on just how unusual the arrangement actually is, nor did she expand on any deeper possible reasons for basing Spirits, Lancers and Stratofortresses at the same base at same time -- all within striking distance of China and North Korea.

To be sure, the Pentagon regularly deploys far-reaching bombers to Andersen Air Force Base. However, North Korean nuclear and missile tests, Beijing’s expansionism in the South China Sea and the U.S. Air Force’s own plans to buy new, long-range weapons have given new weight to these deployments.

The latest deployment began on Aug. 6 when a group of B-1s arrived at Guam to take over from the B-52s. These aircraft were part of what the Pentagon calls the "Continuous Bomber Presence" mission, or CBP. The B-52s will head back to the continental United States at the end of August.

On Aug. 10, the B-2s landed for a separate but similar "bomber assurance and deterrence deployment," or BAAD. We don’t know when the stealth bombers and their crews will return home to their base in Missouri.

Each bomber is considerably different from each other. The sleek B-1 can fly faster than the speed of sound while lugging nearly 40 tons of bombs in three internal weapons bays. The jet has a maximum range of nearly 6,000 miles.

The massive B-52 Stratofortress, however, flies much slower with a slightly smaller bomb load, but can travel almost 3,000 miles farther before needing to land. The B-2 Spirit holds much less ordnance, but the unique flying wing shape and other stealth features makes it virtually invisible to enemy radar.

11 held in Lahore combing operation
LAHORE: Eleven suspected ‘hardcore terrorists’ were arrested in a ‘combing operation’ conducted by the army in Shahdara here on Saturday.

According to an official of the Inter-Services Public Relations, the operation was launched on an intelligence report about the presence of terrorists in the suburbs of the city. The operation continued for more than three hours and led to the arrest of 11 members of a sleeper cell of a terrorist organisation. A huge cache of arms and ammunition was also seized.

According to sources, two of the arrested terrorists belong to Jamaatul Ahrar, a splinter group of the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

Earlier, the Punjab home department had issued an alert, warning that the TTP’s Fazlullah group had sent two suicide attackers to strike at the Wagah border near Lahore or the Ganda Singh border in Kasur.

The alert advised the authorities to enhance vigilance at the two places and improve security measures to prevent any untoward incident.

According to the spokesman for the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), 96 combing operations were recently conducted in various cities of Punjab, during which 45 suspected terrorists were arrested and booked in 16 FIRs. Arms, ammunition and explosive material were seized from the possession of 16 suspects. Besides, as many as 3,373 people were questioned.

In Lahore, the CTD detained more than 150 suspects during a combing operation in various areas, including Saddar, Iqbal Town, Cantonment and City divisions.

Yemenis Kill Three Saudi Troops in Retaliatory Missile Attack
Yemeni forces have killed three Saudi troops in a retaliatory attack launched after a day of deadly airstrikes by the kingdom’s fighter planes.

Yemeni troops backed by fighters of the Ansarullah movement lunched the missile attack on a Saudi military base in the kingdom's southwestern region of Jizan on Saturday.

The attack was launched after a series of Saudi attacks on Yemeni soil, which claimed the lives of dozens of civilians. Just hours before the attack, Saudi jets targeted a civilian car in the province of Ta’izz and killed two people, after their warplanes targeted a school and other locations in the northwestern province of Sa'ada, killing several civilians, many of them children.

According to Doctors Without Borders (MSF), 10 school children died and 28 more were wounded in the school attack.

Six civilians, including three other children and a woman from the same family, were also killed when their home in Razih district of the province was targeted by a Saudi jet.

Syrian Army makes huge advance in key Islamist stronghold outside Damascus
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) continued their wide-scale offensive in the key town of Darayya on Sunday, capturing new points from the Salafist tough guys of Ajnad Al-Sham in the Association Quarter.

An officer told Al-Masdar on Sunday night that the Syrian Republican Guard managed to capture a large chunk of the town’s southwestern sector, creating an even bigger buffer-zone between Darayya and nearby Mu’adhimiyah.

The military source also told Al-Masdar that the Syrian Arab Army has sustained minimal casualties (3 KIA) in Darayya this past week, while Ajnad Al-Sham has lost over 15 Lion of Islams.

With limited provisions and no supply route to the town, the Salafist tough guys of Ajnad Al-Sham are on the verge of complete collapse in Darayya.

The Syrian Army is picking apart the Islamist defenses in the town, seizing several of the decrepit buildings that were once used by Ajnad Al-Sham to forestall the government advance.

Soros Groups Get Hacked, Hundreds Of Documents Leaked
Hundreds of internal documents from groups run by prominent billionaire liberal donor George Soros were leaked online Saturday after hackers infiltrated the groups.

The documents are from multiple departments of Soros' organizations. Soros' the Open Society Foundations seems to be the group with the most documents in the leak. Files come from sections representing almost all geographical regions in the world, "the President's Office", and something named SOUK.

There are documents dating from at least 2008 to 2016. In June, the Open Society Foundations also had several documents leaked by DCLeaks. Bloomberg reported that the foundation notified the Federal Bureau of Investigation to the hacking.

Strangled Samia to death, former husband confesses
[DAWN] JHELUM: The former husband of Samia Shahid, a British Pak woman who died of ’unnatural causes’ while visiting family here last month, has confessed to killing his ex-wife, sources in Punjab
1.) Little Orphan Annie's bodyguard
2.) A province of Pakistain ruled by one of the Sharif brothers
3.) A province of India. It is majority (60 percent) Sikh and Hindoo (37 percent), which means it has relatively few Moslem riots....

Police revealed to DawnNews on Saturday.

A police officer part of the investigation team, seeking anonymity, told DawnNews that Shakeel had confessed to strangling Samia to death after drugging her.

Also read: Samia’s former husband has ’criminal record’

Police said Shakeel had killed her after Samia refused to part ways with her second husband, Syed Mukhtar Kazim. The accused went on to say he acted alone and that the dear departed’s father, Chaudhry Shahid, did not have anything to do with the murder.

Shakeel was nabbed
Into the paddy wagon wit' yez!
after his interim bail expired. He was then presented in a local court that sent him into police custody on a four-day physical remand.

Earlier, British MP Naz Shah had written to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif

British police started a probe into Samia Shahid's death after her husband Syed Mukhtar Kazim claimed she was killed while visiting her family in Pakistain because she married someone who was seen as an outsider.

Kazim, a Pak national, said he received news his wife Samia, a Bradford resident of Pak origin, had died while visiting her relatives in Pandori village near Mangla Dam.

Europe
German far-right leader wants to send refugees to islands outside Europe
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The head of the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) says Berlin should send rejected asylum seekers and illegal immigrants colonists to islands outside Europe and turn its refugee office into an emigration bureau.

The influx of over one million migrants colonists last year fueled support for the AfD, which now has seats in eight of Germany’s 16 state assemblies and is expected to make a strong showing in state votes next month in Berlin and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.

Party leader Frauke Petry made the suggestions in an interview with the Bild newspaper published on Saturday.

"Illegal migrants colonists and asylum seekers whose applications are rejected will be accommodated on the two islands outside Europe that are protected by the United Nations
...boodling on the grand scale...
," Petry added, without naming the two islands she had in mind.

German media interpreted her remarks as a reference to Nauru and Manus, two Pacific islands where Australia funds camps to hold asylum seekers intercepted trying to reach its shores by boat. They are told they will never be settled in Australia.

"I propose the transformation of the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees into an office for emigration, which ensures that all illegal migrants colonists leave this land as soon as possible," Petry added.

The refugee office has been overwhelmed since last year with hundreds of thousands of asylum applications.

Known for her fiery
...a single two-syllable word carrying connotations of both incoherence and viciousness. A fiery delivery implies an audience of rubes and yokels, preferably forming up into a mob...
speeches to AfD supporters, Petry sparked an uproar earlier this year when she called for German police to be allowed to use firearms against illegal migrants colonists.

Most of the more than one million migrants colonists who arrived in Germany last year are refugees escaping war and persecution in Syria, Afghanistan and Iraq.

Syrian girl shot by sniper evacuated to hospital
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] A ten-year-old Syrian girl shot in the besieged town of Madaya was evacuated Sunday to a Damascus hospital where she is in a stable condition, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

Ghina Quwayder’s leg was shattered when she was shot by a government sniper at a checkpoint in the southwestern town earlier this month while buying medicine for her mother, according to Amnesia Amnesty International.

The human rights
...which are usually open to widely divergent definitions...
group had launched a campaign urging the UN humanitarian task force in Syria, which is headed by US and Russian authorities, to evacuate her.

It had accused the Syrian government of refusing to allow her to be evacuated to a hospital in Damascus or in Leb, and said she was in "almost constant, excruciating pain".

"The Syrian Red Islamic Thingy evacuated after midnight the girl from Madaya to Damascus," the head of the Britannia-based Observatory, Rami Abdel Rahman, told AFP.

A Syrian security source on the ground told AFP that "the girl was evacuated with her mother Sahar to an hospital in Damascus for treatment", saying her "condition is stable".

Ghina’s aunt Fadah Jassan, who lives in London, had urged the British government to intervene.

"Children should have no part in this terrible war and I just want powerful countries and the UN to get Ghina out of Madaya and into a properly-equipped hospital," she said in a statement cited by Amnesty.

She added: "I know Ghina’s just one among many thousands of children in Syria who’re going though things they shouldn’t have to, but she can be helped relatively easily and we need to do all we can to make that happen."

Iraq
Iraq: Arson likely behind deadly maternity ward fire
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] A fire that killed 13 children in an Iraqi maternity ward was apparently started intentionally, the health ministry’s front man said on Sunday.

Ahmed al-Rudeini had previously said the Wednesday fire at Yarmuk Hospital, one of the main such facilities in Baghdad, had been started by an electrical fault.

But an investigation found "the presence of flammable materials at the site, and this of course indicates the occurrence of arson," he said, also raising the corpse count from the blaze to 13 from 12.

Many of Baghdad’s public hospitals are poorly maintained and offer sub-standard healthcare, forcing a number of Iraqis to seek private treatment or travel abroad.

The lack of adequate public services, such as quality medical care, electricity and water supply, as well as widespread corruption in the country, has angered the public and led to a series of protests in the past year.

According to the terror group’s official account on social media, Aamaq Agency, 7 jacket wallahs (Inghimasi fighters) managed to break through a residential area near Al-Farouk Dam (located to the east of Aleppo) which serves as a military outpost for the U.S. military and contains the operation room for Manbij offensive.

At first, three of the bombers blew up their explosive vests amid grouping of the Kurdish fighters guarding the base, while the other four holed up inside the buildings.

"Fierce festivities then ensued whereby the four jihadists killed and injured at least 41 of American soldiers and Kurdish militiamen", Aamaq reported. the four ISIS gunnies were eventually killed.

The U.S. is leading a predominantly-Kurdish led forces to oust ISIS terror group from the northern Syrian city of Manbij.

Suicide bombing kills dozens of jihadists
[ALMASDARNEWS] A mysterious kaboom targeted a large jihadist gathering in the border town of Atmeh in the northern countryside of Idlib.

The gunnies who came from various Islamist groups including Faylaq Al-Sham
...also known as Homs Legion, is an alliance of Islamist Jihadist rebel groups which formed in order to consolidate the strength of moderate Islamists during the Syrian Civil War. The alliance was formed from 19 different groups, some of which were previously affiliated with the Syrian Moslem Br&uum;derbund and Shields of the Revolution Council...
and Harakat Nour El-Din Al-Zinki were mobilizing to be transported to the grinding front lines of Aleppo near the border crossing of Atmeh. 35 fighters have so far been confirmed dead while over 50 were maimed including several civilians and Turkish Army servicemen. A bus carrying dozens of gunnies was incinerated in the massive kaboom.

The perpetrator of this act has yet to be known, but it is very likely that he was part of an ISIS sleeper cell operating in the fertile province. Many Islamic State

Independent Candidate Evan McMullin Says He’s Not Responsible If Trump Loses
[ABCNEWS.GO] New independent candidate for president Evan McMullin said his entrance into the race won't affect Donald Trump's chances because "it's so likely that Donald Trump will lose" anyway.

A former CIA operative, McMullin is billing himself as a conservative alternative to Trump.

"He’s not a credible candidate," McMullin said of Trump on "This Week."

"It's so likely that Donald Trump will lose...my entrance into the race doesn't affect that," McMullin told ABC's Martha Raddatz.

A new NBC/WSJ/Marist poll released Friday showed that Trump is trailing rival Hillary Clinton
... sometimes described as For a good time at 3 a.m. call Hillary and at other times as Mrs. Bill, never as Another Timothy Pickering ...
by double digits in key battleground states.

McMullin, who threw his hat into the ring on Aug. 8, said he’s more qualified than Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton in battling terrorism.

"I’m the only candidate in this race that has any firsthand experience in fighting terror," he said. "Both Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, I think, have proven in different ways that they're unprepared for that challenge."

The conservative candidate said he "absolutely" has a chance of winning, but acknowledged that it would have been better if someone with wide name recognition had entered the race earlier.

Warplanes pound Syria's Idlib as battles rage in Aleppo
[STATESMAN] Syria's rebel-held, northwestern Idlib province came under heavy bombardment Sunday, activists reported, as rebels and pro-government forces battled for control of the nearby city of Aleppo.

Much of the fighting has been marked by indiscriminate shelling, missile attacks, and aerial bombardment, killing scores of civilians across Idlib and Aleppo. The rebels do not have an air force.

The Britannia-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported 26 Arclight airstrikes on Sunday across Idlib, one of the last remaining opposition bastions. Observatory head Rami Abdurrahman said Russian and government Arclight airstrikes on the province have intensified since rebels launched a campaign from Idlib to break a government siege of Aleppo's opposition districts on July 31. The strikes have killed 122 civilians, he said.

Another 327 civilians, including 126 children, have been killed in fighting in Aleppo province, according to the Observatory, which monitors both sides of the conflict and gathers information from a network of activists inside Syria. The toll includes 126 people killed by rebel shelling of government-held parts of Aleppo city.

ISIS immolates 6 in Mosul

[ARA News] ERBIL – Extremists of the Islamic State (ISIS) on Sunday publicly executed six young men in the city of Mosul in Iraq’s northwestern Nineveh province after accusing them of spying for the US-led coalition, activists and eyewitnesses reported.

The radical group has executed the men by burning them to death in a public square in Mosul.

“They were accused of spying for the US-led coalition and cooperating with the Kurdish Peshmerga forces, who have been attacking ISIS headquarters in Mosul and its countryside for months,” local media activist Abdullah al-Malla told ARA News.

According to eyewitnesses, an ISIS official read a statement before carrying out the execution, saying: “Those mercenaries have cooperated with the crusader coalition and the Peshmerga in order to destroy the Caliphate territory and kill innocent Muslims in the name of freedom and democracy. The Caliphate [Islamic State] will show no mercy to such traitors.”

“The six young men were brutally burned to death in front of hundreds of people at the Shora square in central Mosul,” al-Malla reported.

ISIS has earlier executed dozens of civilians in Mosul city on similar charges, especially after its key headquarters have been exposed to airstrikes by the coalition.

Afghanistan
Clashes Ongoing In Baghlan Districts
Local authorities in Baghlan said Sunday that clashes are ongoing in the province and that the Taliban has surrounded four police check posts in Baghlan-e-Markazi and Dahane Ghori districts.

According to them, clashes in the two districts have been ongoing since Saturday evening and started after dozens of insurgents attacked the districts.

Officials also said that four civilians have so far been killed and four others wounded.

They said that an Afghan Local Police (ALP) commander was among five local police members killed. In addition, the Taliban has also reportedly seized two Humvees belonging to security forces.

Baghlan police chief Gen. Noor Habib Gulbahari said: "A commander and his four men were martyred at their station and the commander of another station was wounded. Taliban have control over these police stations. We will start our operation to retake these strongholds."

Gulbahari added: "Insurgents carried out five aggressive attacks on Dahan Ghory district. We defeated their attacks, as a result five insurgents were killed and two others wounded."

Meanwhile a Baghlan resident, Akbar, said: "People were caught in the fight and lots of mortars smashed into their houses. Four persons were martyred from one house and three others wounded."

Shir Agha, another local resident said: "A mortar smashed into a house, it killed three women and wounded another woman and a few men. Another mortar smashed into my own house. Lots of animals were killed, houses were destroyed and people lost whatever they had."

Security forces have meanwhile appealed for reinforcements.

Mohammad Zarif Zarif, a member of Baghlan's provincial council, said: "The morale of the security forces is weak as they are unable to defeat the insurgents. Poor war management has caused us to lose lots of places to the Taliban."

Indictment drawn up against leaders of Turkey's HDP
[AA.TR] A prosecutor in southern The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
has prepared an indictment seeking a jail term of up to five years for the co-leaders of the opposition Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP).

In a statement released Sunday, the Adana Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office said charges of promoting terrorist propaganda and insulting the state had been laid against Selahattin Demirtas and Figen Yuksekdag, as well as Meral Danis Bestas, a party politician for Adana.

A charge of promoting terrorist, namely PKK, propaganda against Demirtas relates to a speech he gave during an HDP congress in Adana province in October 2011 while Yuksekdag is accused of insulting the government in an address in Ankara in October last year.

Bestas faces three insult charges stemming from public statements and a Twitter post in October last year and February.

The charges follow a decision to lift some politicians’ immunity from prosecution in May.

On Friday, an Istanbul prosecutor released an indictment against Demirtas and HDP deputy Sirri Sureyya Onder for promoting terrorist propaganda that also sought imprisonment of up to five years.

The indictments must be presented to a court and, if they are accepted, prosecutions will be launched.

Hamas denies Netanyahu’s accusations on NGO funds
[AA.TR] Paleostinian group Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood, has decried accusations by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for the group of seizing funds from Gazoo-based international aid organizations.
What'dya expect them to say? "Oh, yeah, we dunnit and we're glad?"
In a Sunday statement, Hamas termed Netanyahu’s accusations as "lies" and "bare of truth".

"These remarks were meant to deceive world public opinion, pressure international aid organizations in Gazoo and justify the criminal blockade on the strip," the statement said.

On Thursday, Netanyahu accused Hamas of "seizing funds provided by Gazoo-based international relief organizations."

In a video published on his Facebook page, Netanyahu said "many states submit generous aid for the benefit of Gazook children to provide them with required humanitarian aid, but Hamas exploits these money to establish a war machine to kill Israelis."

Hamas said that the Israeli premier will remain a "symbol of terrorism and criminality".

"His lies will not beautify his criminal image," the Paleostinian group said.

On Tuesday, Israel enjugged

Man wounded by harpoon in Corsican burkini riot
[Telegraph] Riot police were summoned and a man was wounded by a harpoon when a mass brawl erupted at a beach in Corsica, apparently triggered by a tourist taking a photo of women in 'burkinis'. The riot took place on Saturday in a cove near the village of Sisco in the north of the island.

Sisco mayor Ange-Pierre Vivoni said, "It happened because a tourist was taking photos,” said , the local mayor. And the Maghrebins (North Africans) didn't want to have their photos taken. It was quite a trivial matter to begin with."

Things got out of hand when young, North African men harangued the tourist who took the pictures, prompting local youngsters to intervene in defense of the visitor. Local media said that a group of older North African men soon arrived, some armed with hatchets and harpoons, and took on the young Corsicans.

The tumult lasted for several hours, during which three cars were burned and four people were taken to hospital, one of them for an injury caused by a harpoon. A pregnant woman was among those hospitalized.

Tensions were still high on Sunday, when a mob of around 500 gathered in the nearby town of Bastia and tried to enter a housing estate with a large immigrant population, chanting, "To arms, this is our place and we will go where we want."

Riot police held back the mob, which eventually dispersed.

PYD accused of changing demography in Manbij
[EN.ZAMANALWSL.NET] The PYD, the Syrian affiliate of the terrorist PKK organization, is being accused of attempting to change the demographic structure in the northern Syrian city of Manbij.

According to local sources, PYD forces set ablaze civil registry and land registry buildings in Manbij, shortly after capturing the city from ISIS group with the support of the U.S.-led coalition and the U.S.-backed Syrian Arab Coalition.

The sources, who spoke anonymously due to security fears, told Anadolu Agency that the PYD was setting the land registry and civil registry buildings on fire in an alleged attempt to change the demographic structure of the city.

In addition, the PYD has also been allegedly repelling Sunni Arabs and Turkmen residents who want to return to their homes in Manbij on the pretext that ISIS has planted mines inside the houses.

Manbij fell to the PYD and the Syrian Arab Coalition -- both of which fight under the umbrella of what is known as the Syrian Democratic forces (SDF) -- after some two and a half months of fighting.

Ossama Telcu, Aleppo head of the National Coalition for Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces, told Anadolu Agency that it was suspicious that the fire had started on the floor where all the land registry documents were stored, proving, according to him, that it was arson.

"The PYD is the suspect because this group has always followed this ethnic cleansing and deportation policy. This act of arson will also enable the PYD to seize all the properties in Manbij," he said.

Telcu said the PYD-led Syrian Democratic Forces did not allow the families who were not fighting to return back to Manbij.

"This shows that the PYD is trying to change the demographic structure of the city," he said.

Abu Razak, a Manbij resident, said the PYD had also in prohibited residents from returning to the villages of Shuyukh Tahtani and Shuyukh Fawqani, -- east of the Euphrates River -- where nearly 15,000 people live.

6 Soddies die in missile attack in Najran
The lead is flying in Yemen now...
Najran- A missile deployed from Yemen targeted southern Saudi Arabia’s Najran on Sunday killing six civilians. The projectile landed on a local water facility.

Security forces soon locked down the site attacked, moving injured victims to close medical facilities.

Najran is a city located in southwestern Saudi Arabia near the border with Yemen. It is the capital of Najran Province.

Saudi royal air forces had already intercepted a scud missile on Saturday, which was launched from Yemeni grounds targeting Khamis Mushait, south-west Saudi Arabia, located east of Abha.

The Launchpad was immediately destroyed.

Saudi-led coalition had intervened in the civil war in Yemen since March last year as to restore legitimacy to the war-torn country, after the Houthis insurgent militia have attempted to take over Yemen.

The war has killed more than 6,500 people, displaced more than 2.5 million and caused a humanitarian catastrophe in one of the world’s poorest countries.

Cell phone that triggered Thai bomb linked to Malaysia
[Asia One] Thai police are said to be seeking Malaysian help to identify the source of a mobile phone used in one of the bombings that struck the southern provinces last week. A portion of a cell phone used to trigger an explosion in Phuket on Friday contained a Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission serial number, according to reports.

Thai police, who have not yet confirmed the report, have gathered security camera footage and DNA samples from the blast sites, and say they expect to make progress in investigations soon.

Major tourist hot spots as well as central areas in Phuket, Phangnga, Surat Thani, Prachuap Khiri Khan and Trang provinces were hit by a series of explosions on Thursday and Friday. There were arson attacks in Nakhon Si Thammarat and Krabi. Four people were killed and more than 30 others were wounded. The toll would have been higher if not for the discovery of two home-made bombs in Phuket on Wednesday which were defused.

General Pongsapat said that the bomb and arson materials in all the sites were similar. He said, "We believe they were done by members of the same group."

Kuwait says it arrests 10 Iranians who are ‘infiltrators’
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Kuwait’s Interior Ministry said Sunday its coasties detained 10 Iranian "infiltrators" trying to sneak into the country illegally. An Iranian official, however, described them as fishermen whose detention was not related to any border violations.

One of the Iranian men was maimed after refusing coasties orders to surrender, the ministry said in a statement published by the state-run Kuwait News Agency.

The Interior Ministry released a photo on its website showing nine of the men on their knees with their hands clasped behind their backs.

The arrests are likely to draw more accusations by Arab Gulf countries of Iranian interference in their affairs. The largely Sunni bloc of oil-rich nations has consistently accused Shiite-led Iran of meddling in regional affairs, primarily in Bahrain and Yemen, where a Saudi-led coalition has been bombing Iranian-allied militias for more than a year.

Iran’s semi-official Fars news agency quoted Ali Hajatpour, deputy chief of Bushehr province’s coasties in southern Iran, as saying some Iranian fisherman were detained in Kuwait because of a "quarrel." He was quoted Saturday saying the dispute happened on Kuwaiti soil and that "their detention was not related to a border violation."

The incident could further strain ties between Kuwait and Iran. An appeals court in Kuwait recently upheld the death sentence for a Shiite citizen on charges of communicating with Iran and the Lebanese holy warrior Shiite group Hezbollah to commit "hostile actions" against the country. The case also includes an Iranian national tried in absentia and sentenced to death.

Kuwait has also staunchly aligned itself with Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
in the kingdom’s diplomatic spat with Iran. Kuwait recalled its ambassador to Tehran in January after a mob there ransacked the Saudi Embassy in protest against the execution of a prominent Saudi Shiite holy man.

Bin Daghr said in a statement that Yemen

formed the coalition and launched a campaign of air strikes in March 2015 to push the Houthis back. The Houthis attempted a coup to topple Hadi’s internationally recognized government.

The premier’s visit to Cairo comes after peace talks between Yemen’s warring sides in Kuwait failed to bring a breakthrough in early August.

UN envoy to Yemen Ismail Ould Cheikh, Ahmed, however, said negotiation between the two sides will resume within a month.

The UN envoy said the location for the next round of Yemeni peace talks will be decided later.

Panetta somehow defends Clinton Foundation-State Department relationship
[POLITICO] Former Defense Secretary Leon Panetta
...current SecDef, previously Director of the Central Intelligence Agency. Panetta served as President Bill Clinton's White House Chief of Staff from 1994 to 1997 and was a member of the United States House of Representatives from 1977 to 1993....
on Sunday defended Hillary Clinton
... sometimes described as For a good time at 3 a.m. call Hillary and at other times as Mrs. Bill, never as Another Condoleezza Rice ...
’s State Department from accusations it had an improper ties to the Clinton Foundation.

"That's something that, obviously, will continue the be looked at," Panetta said, before waving it off as typical networking. "Staff people trying to make connections in Washington is a pretty prevalent behavior by most people in Washington."
The man is a professional. Don't try this at home...
The criticism comes after emails released last week through a lawsuit by the conservative Judicial Watch appeared to show a Clinton Foundation executive asking for favors from State Department aides. And Clinton's Republican rival, Donald Trump, and his campaign indicated the emails exposed a "pay-to-play" culture in the State Department under Clinton’s watch, but didn't point to specific decisions made in return for money or favors.

"The question is, whether anything was done in return for that kind of donation," Panetta said. "And, as far as I know, nobody's been able to pin down that that actually happened."

Panetta, who was CIA director before he moved to the Pentagon, wrote off the criticism as "politics," but said that Clinton should "acknowledge the mistakes that have been made and to then move on."
Of course Panetta defends her. He along with former CIA Deputy Director Mike Morrel are executive members of former Clinton advisor Phil Reines' 'Beacon Global Strategies Group.' This is the Clinton safe house for everyone involved in Benghazi.

Alleged Daesh threat against Miss Universe pageant in Manila
[SGGP] The Philippine military is taking seriously a call by the Daesh for an attack on the Miss Universe pageant that will be held in Manila next year. The military said that a recent bomb-making video posted on social media, apparently made by Daesh, carried a message in Arabic script reading: "creating a bomb for Miss Universe."

Officials have yet to establish the video's authenticity or determine its source, but they are taking the threat seriously, military spokesman Colonel Edgard Arevalo said.

The Philippine ministry of tourism said it is not alarmed by the threat, adding that the video's authenticity was impossible to verify.

[INDIATIMES] Pakistain's top counter-terrorism agency has issued two alerts, warning about possible terror attacks by two Taliban jacket wallahs at the Wagah and Ganda Singh borders with India around the Independence Day.

The National Counter-Terrorism Authority has asked the Punjab

" Tehrik-e-Taliban 's Fazalullah group is planning to target parade at Wagah Border in Lahore and Ganda Singh Border in Kasur on August 13, 14 or 15," the security alert says. The alert also says two suicide bombers have been sent to hit these targets. "Extreme vigilance and heightened security measures are suggested to avoid any untoward incident," it says.

The Punjab (Pakistain) home department has also issued a separate alert saying "at least 16 suicide kaboomers have entered the province" who are planning to target public gatherings in connection with the Independence Day.

Following the alerts, the Punjab police (Pakistain's Punjab) launched a crackdown in the border areas and tossed in the calaboose

"Police have taken more than 50 suspects into custody during a crackdown and security has been beefed up in the city as well as in the border areas," Lahore police front man Niyab Haider said.

He said the suspects would be quizzed and kept into custody till verification process as a majority of them could not produce documents related to their identity.

He said police personnel have also been deployed at the border areas on Pakistain's Independence Day (August 14). Rangers have also reportedly enhanced their patrolling in the border areas.

from their former North African stronghold of Sirte said they had made advances on Sunday in a coastal neighborhood after staging attacks by land, sea and air.

The forces, led by brigades from the city of Misrata and aligned with the U.N.-backed government in Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
, secured several key sites in Sirte this week, their progress helped by U.S. air strikes against Islamic State that began on Aug. 1.

Islamic State murderous Moslems are now encircled in Sirte's central residential areas.

"The forces have made more progress in neighborhood Number Two, with help from artillery and from naval forces," front man Rida Issa said. Libyan jets carried out two air strikes, he said, and a picture posted by the forces on social media showed guns mounted on a tug boat involved in the operation.

At least four members of the Misrata-led brigades were killed in Sunday's festivities and 32 were maimed, said Akram Gliwan, a front man for Misrata Central Hospital.

The brigades said on Saturday that they had gained control of a radio building previously used by Islamic State for broadcasting. The building is close to the Ouagadougou convention complex, a symbolic landmark in Sirte that the brigades seized this past week, raising the Libyan flag there in place of Islamic State's black banner.

As of Thursday, the United States had carried out 41 strikes targeting Islamic State fighting positions, vehicles and weapons in Sirte.

Olde Tyme Religion
Jordanian writer charged with offending Islam over Facebook cartoon
[The National] Abu Dhabi // A Jordanian writer was on Sunday charged with offending Islam after he shared a cartoon depicting God and heaven that sparked anger in the kingdom.

Nahed Hattar, a newspaper columnist, were tossed into the calaboose on Saturday after he reposted the image on his Facebook page.

The cartoon, the origins of which are unclear, lampooned how gunnies view the afterlife, but immediately sparked accusations of blasphemy and distorting the image of Islam.

Hattar, a leftist writer known for his critical views against Jordanians of Paleostinian origin and a staunch supporter of the Assad regime in Syria, shared the cartoon to his Facebook page on Friday.

The cartoon depicts God with a white beard talking with an Death Eater who is lying in bed. Depictions of God are considered an insult.

Amman public prosecutor, Judge Abdullah Abul-Ghanam, said Hattar was charged with inciting sectarian strife and racism and insulting religion. He was remanded in jug pending further investigation.

Hattar could face up to three years in prison. The prosecutor also banned media coverage of the case in Jordan.

After Hattar shared the cartoon, social media users quickly circulated a hashtag saying "Hattar does not represent us" and demanded that legal action be taken against him.

One user slammed Hattar, who is in his 50s, on Twitter saying his "likes" will lead to the destruction of the country.

Another wrote: "Look at how far things have reached, a writer [mocking] God and heaven. I swear if you do not punish him, God will punish us if we remain quiet."

Prime minister Hani Al Mulki ordered an investigation on Friday and the governor of Amman issued an arrest warrant. Hattar, who has written for newspapers in Jordan and Leb, first went into hiding but turned himself in on Saturday.

The controversy struck a chord in Jordan as the country tries to sidestep the sectarian tensions and violence that have engulfed the region.

On Saturday, Jordan’s Ifta’a Department, which issues religious edicts for the government, said the writer had exploited the calls against terrorism to attack religion.

"What has been published is fomenting hatred and sowing discord in the country," the department said.

The Moslem Brüderbund, the main opposition force in Jordan, described the cartoon as a "provocation for every Jordanian" that "harms the country’s constitution".

Hattar deleted his Facebook page following the backlash but before doing so said those who attacked him had missed the point of the cartoon. He denied that he was defaming religion, saying he did not mean to insult God and that the cartoon was satirising how bandidos murderous Moslems view God and heaven.

Yemen army pushes al Qaeda fighters from two cities, about 40 dead
[REUTERS] Yemeni army forces backed by Arab coalition aircraft killed about 40 suspected al Qaeda gunnies on Sunday as they fought their way into two Death Eater strongholds in eastern Yemen, a local official and residents said.

Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula
...the latest incarnation of various Qaeda and Qaeda-allied groups, including the now-defunct Aden-Abyan Islamic Army that boomed the USS Cole in 2000...
(AQAP) has exploited a 16-month-old civil war between the internationally recognized government of President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi and the Iran-allied Houthis to capture a 600-km (370-mile) stretch of Arabian Sea coastline in eastern Yemen.

Hadi's troops and forces from the Saudi-led Arab coalition drove out AQAP - widely considered the most dangerous branch of the global Death Eater group - from the Hadramout
...the formerly independent Qu'aiti state and sultanate, annexed by Communist South Yemen in 1968, encompassing a region along the Gulf of Aden, extending eastwards to the borders of the Dhofar region of Oman. The people are called Hadhramis and speak Hadhrami Arabic. The city Tarimis is estimated to contain the highest concentration of descendants of the Prophet Muhammad (PTUI) anywhere in the world, approximately seven in every square yard...
bustling provincial capital of Mukalla in April.

The bully boyz have since repeatedly withdrawn from and then returned to Zinjibar and Jaar, the capital of Abyan
...a governorate of Yemen. The region was a base to the Aden-Abyan Islamic Army terrorist group until it dropped the name and joined al-Qaeda. Its capital is Zinjibar. In March 2011, al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula declared the governate an Islamic Emirate after seizing control of the region. The New York Times fastidiously reported that those in control, while Islamic hard boyz, are not in fact al-Qaeda, but something else that looks, tastes, smells, and acts the same. Yemeni government forces launched an effort to re-establish control of the region when President-for-Life Saleh was tossed and the carnage continues...
and the province's second largest city.

Abyan Governor Al-Khader Mohammed al-Saidi, speaking by telephone from Jaar, told Rooters that three brigades took part in the operation and that troops have "taken complete control of both cities".

Saidi said that 40 AQAP members were killed in both cities, while the rest fled. He said three soldiers were killed and several were maimed in the operation.

"We met with citizens and fighters and both were happy to be free under government authority," the governor said.

Residents said an AQAP jacket wallah went kaboom! in a car trying to attack troops in Zinjibar, a city of some 100,000 people, but no one else was hurt.

Islamic State fighters fleeing besieged Libyan city could cross the Mediterranean in migrant boats, Italy warns
[TELEGRAPH.CO.UK] Isil fighters who have been routed from their former stronghold of Sirte in Libya could try to enter Europe by hiding among migrants colonists heading across the Mediterranean in smugglers’ boats, Italia has warned.
Precisely who in Italia?
Hundreds of Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
of Iraq and the Levant (Isil) fighters are fleeing Sirte after coming under sustained assault by Libyan ground forces and air strikes by US fighter jets and drones.
Yep. Gettin' the M.C. Hammer pants beat off 'em.
There is now a much greater risk that some turbans could attempt to pass themselves off as migrants colonists or refugees, according to the head of the parliamentary committee that oversees the Italian intelligence services.

If they were successful in reaching Italia, the Isil members could plan attacks on targets in Europe.
They could plan them, perhaps, but there are a number of facts mitigating against success.

1. If they're departing in a flotilla of boats, probably with human shields, the flotilla of boats could be sunk by the Mighty Italiano Navy, too bad about the human shields.

2. If they leave in small groups they can be sunk in small groups easier than if they were in big groups.

3. If they leave one boat at a time the majority of the bastards will be wiped out covering the departure of the Big Turbans, who're never the last to leave.

4. Those not sunk can be arrested when they land. Modern nations have surveillance aircraft to track that sort of thing.

5. You don't lug tanks and heavy weapons with you when you're fleeing for your life, especially in oversized rubber rafts They'll have to start over from scratch in the terrorism business.

I could probably come up with more points, but I'm not thinking real hard on the subject. You could probably ask any survivors of the Dunkirk evacuations how much they took with them and how many boats were required.

The thing is, the Europeans have been sending naval ships out into the Mediterranean Sea to rescue foundering migrant boats... and bringing the migrants to refugee centers in Europe, rather than taking them back to their starting point. They aren't going to start sinking boats now, nor returning them to North Africa, no matter how certain it might be that the people in them are very bad, indeed.

Tajouri’s militia attack Tripoli intelligence buildings
Tripoli, 14 August 2016:

Tripoli is tense this evening after Haitham Tajouri sent his Tripoli Revolutionaries’ Brigade militia to attack predominantly Misratan intelligence personnel in the capital today and is thought to want to arrest Sheikh Sadek Ghariani, head of the Dar Al-Islam.

The chief of intelligence, Mohamed Muftah Nuh, a Misratan, is believed to be on a visit to Turkey.

In early morning raids with technicals and armoured cars, members of Tajouri’s TRB took over the Intelligence HQ in Fornaj, a building in Salaheddin and a site in Ain Zara as well as the intelligence offices at Mitiga Airport and Tripoli port.

There are unconfirmed reports that one man died in the Fornaj attack. The three portable cabins used by intelligence officers in Ain Zara came under heavy fire early in the morning and were burnt down. Militiamen also stormed some nearby apartments apparently searching for particular individuals.

Though no precise figure is yet clear, one source has said that “many” intelligence personnel have been seized. It is also understood that Tajouri’s men were supported by some intelligence officers who oppose what they see as Misratan and Islamist domination of the intelligence apparatus.

Nuh was an economy minister in Ali Zeidan’s government. He is said to be close to the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group and to have caused resentment in the intelligence establishment by appointing Misratans to key positions.

It is also being reported that Tajouri is seeking to arrest Ghariani. Posters have been seen in Tripoli with a picture of the former Grand Mufti with a “No Entry” sign across his face. The posters read “No to the Muslim Brotherhood” and “Stop the bloodshed”.

Anti-Ghariani posters have gone up in Tripoli (Photo: social media)
Anti-Ghariani posters have gone up in Tripoli (Photo: social media)
There has been no response from the Presidency Council to today’s events, just as there was no public reaction when Tajouri’s men took over the health ministry building last week.

It is unclear what has prompted the controversial militia leader’s actions. Last November Tajouri briefly seized the prime ministry, then occupied by Khalifa Ghwell, prime minster of Libya Dawn’s National Salvation government, set up by the rump of the General National Congress.

He once declared himself in favour of a return of the monarchy. He is however also one of a number of militia leaders who have been named by the United Nations as suspected human rights criminals. He has been accused of murdering Qaddafi regime personnel who had been detained in an illegal prison at his Al-Naam camp in Tajoura.

Rangers bust slave ring in Punjab
KARACHI: The Pakistan Rangers Sindh on Sunday claimed to have busted a gang allegedly involved in the kidnapping of women from Punjab province.

A contingent from the Ranger’s Special Task Force and the paramilitary force conducted a raid in Jacobabad after receiving an intelligence tip off, and arrested two individuals involved in kidnapping women belonging to Punjab province, said a Rangers spokesperson.

“The held suspects, identified as Punhal and Rajab, had kidnapped two women from Multan,” stated the spokesperson.

He added the women were brought to Jacobabad and a ransom was demanded from their relatives.

The kidnapped women’s relatives approached the Rangers who conducted the targeted raid and recovered the both women, who were handed over to their families.

The held suspects were later handed over to the police for further legal action, said the Rangers press statement.

Coalition says deadly Yemen raid hit rebels, not school
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The Saudi-led coalition on Sunday denied targeting a school in Yemen’s rebel-held north in an attack that an international relief agency said killed 10 children.

"The coalition denied targeting a school," coalition front man General Ahmed Assiri said in an English-language statement to AFP.

"The aircraft has bombed a training camp for the coup militias... in Saada," he said, referring to the Iran-backed Houthi
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The Yemeni government has accused the Houthis of having ties to the Iranian government, which wouldn't suprise most of us. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews ...
militias which he accused of using "children as recruits."

The Gay Paree-based Doctors Without Borders (MSF) said 10 children were killed and 28 maimed Saturday in coalition air strikes on a school in Haydan, a town in rebel-held Saada province.

MSF spokeswoman Malak Shaher told AFP that the casualties the agency received at a field hospital were all under 15 and the "victims of air strikes on a Koranic school in Haydan."

But Assiri said the Yemeni government had confirmed to the coalition that "there is no school in this area."

"The site that was bombed... is a major training camp for militia," he said. "Why would children be at a training camp?"

"When jets target training camps they cannot distinguish between ages" of recruits, Assiri said.

The Saudi Press Agency said previously that coalition warplanes struck a Houthi "training center" on Saturday in Saada, killing several krazed killers, including a leader it identified as Yehya Munassar Abu Rabua.

Assiri said that MSF’s toll only "confirms the Houthis practice of recruiting and subjecting children to terror."

"They recruit children and use them as scouts, guards, messengers and fighters," he said, noting previous reports from Human Rights Watch
... During the fiscal year ended June 30, 2011, HRW received a pledge from the Foundation to Promote Open Society, of which George Soros is Chairman, for general support totaling $100,000,000. on rebels recruiting children.

"We would have hoped MSF would take measures to stop the recruitment of children to fight in wars instead of crying over them in the media."

In response to talks plan, India lists issues that must be resolved first
[DAWN] India, responding to Pakistain’s plan to discuss Jammu and Kashmire, has given its list of issues that must be addressed before any progress is possible.

Reports on Saturday quoted India’s foreign ministry as responding to the statement by Foreign Policy Adviser Sartaj PrunefaceAziz
...Adviser to Pak Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on National Security and Foreign Affairs, who believes in good jihadis and bad jihadis as a matter of national policy...
to invite India for dialogue on Jammu and Kashmire.

The ministry claimed Delhi welcomed dialogue on relevant issues and at this time it included stoppage of "Pak-supported cross-border terrorism".

In a statement, the ministry said: "Would welcome dialogue on relevant issues in India-Pakistain relations and at this time it includes stoppage of Pak-supported cross-border terrorism."

Ministry spokesperson Vikas Swarup said that before the start of a dialogue Pakistain must address "incitement to violence and terrorism across the border, parading of internationally recognised forces of Evil like Hafiz Saeed
...founder of Lashkar-e-Taiba and its false-mustache offshoot Jamaat-ud-Dawa. The United Nations declared the JuD a terrorist organization in 2008 and Hafiz Saeed a terrorist as its leader. Hafiz, JuD and LeT are wholly-owned subsidiaries of the Pak intel apparatus, so that amounted to squat...
and Syed Salahuddin, and sincere follow up on the Mumbai attack trial and the Pathankot attack investigation".

Days after India insisted that it would discuss only Azad Kashmire with Pakistain, Mr Aziz had said on Friday that Pakistain planned to invite India for a dialogue on the Kashmire issue.

"Our foreign secretary would formally be writing to his counterpart in this regard," Mr Aziz had said as he briefed the media about the Envoys Conference held on August 1-3 to deliberate on major foreign policy challenges faced by Pakistain and make recommendations. He said the conference had spent considerable time on the grim situation in Kashmire.

Meanwhile,
...back at the desert island, Irene was indignant at the thought of doing such a thing without benefit of clergy...
External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj said: "Unlike in the past we cannot agree that dialogue with sponsor and supporters of terrorism should carry on without being linked to action in that regard." She was obliquely referring to Pakistain.

"Threat of terrorism dominates global concerns today. It is an issue which has confronted Indian diplomacy for many years because of its cross-border manifestation," she said. "At the international level we are also putting the spotlight on early conclusion of a comprehensive convention on international terrorism," she added.

Qamishli: PYD encircles Tal Hamis town, tensions rise with regime forces
[EN.ZAMANALWSL.NET] Tension continues between Syrian regime forces and Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD) resulting from arrests on both sides amid security spread of large gangs subordinate to PYD in Tal Hamis south of Qamishli, local source said.

Activist Malaz al-Yusef confirmed gunnies from (PYD) called Hat or the masked men still encircle Tal Hamis town deploying temporary checkpoints in the area and imposing night curfew to raid and arrest some persons there following PYD two leaders’ liquidation attempt on a checkpoint in Abu Qasayib village near Syrian National Defense (SND)-controlled areas.

Al-Yusef said the masked men militia is a sub-branch of Asayish, the armed wing of PYD, was trained by foreign officers believed to be Americans in camp in (PYD)-controlled areas north of Hasaka. he added the militia stormed Arab villages in Tal Hamis including Abu Kabir al-Husseinye, al-Naaem, Kharab al-Mahar, Om Kaheef al-Haswayie and assaulted young men in white weapon in Sharmoukh village.

The activist indicated American helicopters were flying higher than usual scanning villages near Iraqi borders like Koranata, Akaaz, and Balkees in conjunction with the masked men militia’s raids on the town.

Asayish militia released a statement saying they dismantled explosives placed planted on the road connecting Tal Hamis and al-Qahtaniye at al-Taweel village August 10; adding, the explosives were cylindrical. Each weighs between 3-5 Kg prepared to explode by a wireless remote controller device.

Asaysih announced first batch of Hat or masked men graduates in August 2015 and their first mission was to counter any security incidents in PYD-controlled areas including kidnapping, blasting operations and others.
Hat or masked men specializes also in researching sleeping cells and protecting leaders outside and during conference, seminars and meetings.

In Hasaka, tension continues between regime forces and (PYD)’s Asayish militia despite (SND) release of detainees. On the other hand, Kurdish militia refused to release regime detainees including Hasaka Directory of Water Manager Mahmoud Ulkeh, Hasaka Mill Manager Abdul Haleem Khalil, Silos Manager Talal Ameen and Water resources accountant Rajeh Saloumi, according to local sources.

Sources added Asayish patrol jugged

a captain and 9 regime personnel during two military cars’ crossing near al-Salhiye Square east of Hasaka city and regime responded with arresting 9 Asayish personnel including a leader. The mutual arrests ended with a fast exchange of detainees between the two sides.

A (PYD) gang had kidnapped President of the Kurdish National Council Ibrahim Biro from the center of the city in Qamishli in Hasaka countryside on Saturday to exile him to Iraq Kurdistan region.

The Democratic Union Party (PYD), the Syrian wing of Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), had announced in 2014 foundation of the Kurdish Self Administration which has its own military and security systems, courts and institutions similar to the governmental ones in three regions Ain al-Arab, Efrin and al-Jazeera Northern of Hasaka.

Many forces share controlling Hasaka province like People Protection Units (YPG), the armed wing of PYD which control the widest area of the province, while the Syrian regime control the security areas and military bases and dozens of villages around Hasaka and Qamishli, while the Islamic State

Muslim Walks Into Woods, Cops Make Alarming Find After Seeing What Emerges
[MadWorldNews] Although people thought he was merely going for a walk in the Kentucky woods, a Muslim's motives turned out to be much more sinister. Unfortunately, the series of events that would later play out would lead to police making quite the alarming find -but that was only after they saw what would emerge from the woods after he left.

Mark Sawaf had what his father, Ali Sawaf, likes to call a "hobby." He liked to build bombs. In fact, his father states that Mark Sawaf has been hunting since he was 7-years-old and that only has gunpowder in his home for that purpose, but he isn't quite telling the truth.

According to reports, Mark Sawaf ‐ an immigrant from Iraq ‐ liked to build bombs and set them up in various places in the woods of Harlan County alongside trail cameras for reasons only known to him. However, things would take a nasty turn as one of his devices went off, seriously injuring a man in what can only be described as an act of terror.

Once police had learned of the injured man emerging from the woods, they immediately arrested Mark Sawaf and took him to the woods to find the rest of his improvised explosive devices (IEDs). However, while there, the terrorist decided to attack officials in a desperate attempt to get away ‐ but his plan would fail miserably.

In the end, Mark Sawaf was shot and killed on the scene as he tried to flee. Although you would think this would be some pretty serious news, there’s really only one reason that you haven't heard anything about it ‐ and that's because he was a Muslim.

Mark Sawaf's father would have you believe that his son wasn't a threat to anyone and simply died on account of police brutality, but this couldn't have been further from the truth. Ali Sawaf initially admitted that his son had built the bombs himself only to later lie, saying his son had been set up.

"In my book, we have terrorists in this country and we call them the police and the federal agents," Ali Sawaf said.

Of course, this has all been swept under the rug as the news doesn't exactly mesh with the leftist agenda. Muslims doing Muslim things doesn't exactly fit the "moderate" Muslim narrative that the left likes to dangerously spew, so they simply don't report on it.

The left can try to make stories like these disappear, but when they finally come to light, it only goes to show the real reasons they're hiding it. There's a fundamental flaw within the religion of Islam, and it's time for people to start realizing it.

The guy was a mental health counselor, snicker.

"Sawaf was extremely socially liberal and was an atheist.

More than a decade before Sawaf’s arrest, his father, Ali Sawaf, was convicted on eight charges related to distribution of OxyContin and other painkillers. At the time of his conviction in 2002, Ali Sawaf was a urologist in Harlan County."

Jews expelled from Jerusalem site on mourning day
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Hundreds of Jews visited Jerusalem’s Al-Aqsa mosque compound on Tisha B’av, a religious day of mourning, with several expelled for praying, a right restricted to Moslems, police said Sunday.

Over 300 Jews entered the site during morning visiting hours, according to Jewish activists and the Waqf -- the Jordanian foundation that oversees the site.

More were expected in the afternoon, when Tisha B’av, which commemorates the destruction of the two ancient temples at the site, nears its end.

Police had boosted security with hundreds of extra officers ahead of the event, which began Saturday night.

Tens of thousands of Jews also prayed at the adjacent Western Wall during the day.

Advocates for prayer rights for Jews at the esplanade, the holiest site in Judaism and referred to as the Temple Mount, have called on Jews to visit the sensitive area.

It is Islam’s third holiest site.

According to a police statement, seven Jews were detained for "violating the terms of the visit."

Honenu, an advocacy group that provides legal aid to myrmidon Jews, said three of them were held for citing verses from prayer, and another for tearing his shirt, a sign of mourning in Judaism.

Jews are allowed to visit but not to pray there, but the site has been the scene of regular incidents when Jews try to ignore the rule and Moslems intervene to stop them.

Police said Moslems had congregated around two Jews being expelled by police and began yelling at them. Police pushed them away and three Moslems were lightly maimed in the scuffle.

Most of the Paleostinians killed were carrying out knife, gun or car-ramming attacks, according to Israeli authorities.

While the number of attacks has declined in recent weeks, Paleostinian fears of Israeli intentions to undermine Moslem control of the Al-Aqsa mosque compound were a central component in the violence erupting 10 months ago.

Paleostinians argue that Israel is seeking to change the status quo at the compound, a claim that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has repeatedly denied.

Alleged Shiite insurgents on trial in Azerbaijan
[RFE/RL] Eighteen men said to be members of an extremist Islamic group that sought to provoke unrest in order to seize power went on trial beginning on August 4 in Baku's Court for Serious Crimes.

They face charges including murder, terrorism, inciting religious hatred, organizing mass unrest, and illegal possession of weapons. All of them reject those charges as fabricated; several say they were tortured in order to get them to incriminate themselves, fellow defendants, and opposition leaders.

The two most prominent defendants are Taleh Bagirzade (also known as Bagirov), a young Shiite cleric who heads the unregistered Movement for Muslim Unity, and Fuad Qahramanli, deputy chairman of the opposition Azerbaijan Popular Front Party (AHCP).

Bagirzade, who studied theology in Iran, has campaigned to uphold Muslim rights and openly criticized Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev. He was nabbed in late November 2015 together with 13 other men during a raid by police on a house in the village of Nardaran on the outskirts of Baku.

Nardaran has for decades been a bastion of Shiite Islam. Its estimated 8,000 residents regard as their supreme religious authority not Muslim Spiritual Board of Azerbaijan Chairman Sheikh-ul-Islam Allakh-Shukur Pashazade, but Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

Seven people, including at least two police officers, were killed and several others injured during the police raid. According to officials, the men opened fire and hurled Molotov cocktails at the police. However, the accused say they were unarmed.

The same officials also say that Bagirzade created the Movement for Muslim Unity with the aim of overthrowing the government and establishing "a religious state under sharia law." He and his associates are said to have recruited supporters in the country and provided them with weapons, and to have conducted "illegal meetings" in Nardaran to discuss mobilizing the population in a violent uprising.

Qahramanli, who was not near Nardaran at the time of the raid, was detained at his home two weeks after it took place for comments about it that he posted on social media. He was initially charged with antistate propaganda and inciting religious hatred. Six months later, a further charge was brought against him of calling for civil disobedience and mass unrest. During testimony, Qahramanli said he was being tried solely for having expressed a critical opinion of the Azerbaijani authorities.

South Sudan fighting sparks fears of return to civil war
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Fighting flared in South Sudan late on Saturday southwest of the capital between forces loyal to the president and those backing the opposition, after festivities last month raised fears of a slide back into civil war.
Did the civil war ever stop in South Sudan?
Steven Lodu Onseimo, the information minister for Yei region where Saturday's festivities took place, told Rooters two civilians and a soldier were killed but said the area was calm on Sunday.

Witnesses had reported heavy gunfire around Yei, which lies on a road linking the capital Juba with neighbouring Uganda.

The government and opposition each blamed the other side.

Following the fighting in July, the UN Security Council authorized the deployment of a 4,000-strong protection force to support the existing 12,000-strong UN peacekeeping mission.

"Our forces have managed to close Juba-Yei road. Our forces destroyed the government’s convoy that attacked our forces in the area," opposition front man James Gatdet said by telephone.

The Yei information minister described it as an "ambush" of a government convoy by the opposition.

Political differences between President Salva Kiir and his former deputy Riek Machar first erupted into conflict in late 2013. They signed a peace deal in August 2015, but sporadic fighting has continued.

Machar had recently returned to Juba to take up his position as deputy again when the July festivities flared. Machar then withdrew with his forces from the capital.

...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(IS) forces early on Sunday as part of a campaign to capture djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
, the myrmidons' de facto capital in Iraq, Kurdish officials said.

The advance began after heavy shelling and air strikes by a United States-led coalition against IS forces, a Rooters correspondent reported from Wardak, 30 km (19 miles) southeast of Mosul.

The snuffies fought back, firing mortars at the advancing troops and detonating at least two boom-mobiles.

Clouds of black smoke rose from the area and dozens of civilians fled in the direction of the Peshmerga lines, brandishing white flags.

A Peshmerga commander said 11 villages had been taken from the ultra-hardline Sunni snuffies as the troops headed to Gwer, the target of the operation, 40 km (25 miles)southeast of Mosul.

Repairing the bridge that the snuffies destroyed in Gwer would allow the Peshmerga to open a new front around Mosul. The bridge crosses the Grand Zab river that flows into the Tigris.

The Iraqi army and the Peshmerga forces of the Kurdish self-rule region are gradually taking up positions around Mosul, 400 km (250 miles) north of Baghdad.

It was from Mosul's Grand Mosque in 2014 that Islamic State leader His Supreme Immensity, Caliph of the Faithful and Galactic Overlord, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi
...formerly merely the head of ISIL and a veteran of the Bagram jailhouse. Looks like a new messiah to bajillions of Moslems, like just another dead-eyed mass murder to the rest of us...
declared a "caliphate" spanning regions of Iraq and Syria.

Mosul is the largest urban center under the myrmidons' control, and had a pre-war population of nearly 2 million.

Its fall would mark the effective defeat of Islamic State in Iraq, according to Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi, who has said he aims to retake the city this year.

The Iraqi army is trying to advance from the south. In July it captured the Qayyara airfield, 60 km (35 miles) south of Mosul, which will serve as the main staging post for the expected offensive.
