New affront to Islam
h/t Gates of Vienna
Murad Al-Sudani, the Registrar for the National Palestinian Committee for Education, Culture and Science, lashed out at the upcoming annual Jerusalem Wine Festival, which is set to have a branch at the upscale Mamilla (Alrov) open-air mall near the Old City.

Since the mall rests partly on an old Muslim cemetery called "Maman Allah;" Al-Sudani claims that the festival manifests an affront to Islam.

New Emails Show Clinton Foundation Donors Lobbied Huma For Diplomatic Passports
[Daily Caller] New emails released by Judicial Watch in connection with its probe of the Bill, Hillary, and Chelsea Clinton Foundation indicate Clinton Foundation donors lobbied senior Hillary Clinton aide Huma Abedin for diplomatic passports.

Abedin responded positively to the donor inquiries, according to the email.
Can-do-easy! It's an off-line process. We'll link you up with our contact in Maryland. Your stuff should be ready in a week or so.
The donors in question include Doug Band and Justin Cooper. The email indicates that Band reached out to Abedin in 2009, when she served as deputy chief of staff at the U.S. Department of State, and asked for her help in obtaining diplomatic passports for him, Cooper, and a third individual identified only by their initials.

"We had them years ago but they lapsed and we didn’t bother getting them," Band wrote.

SpaceX rocket with Israeli Sat blows up on the launch pad prior to static fire test!

SpaceX was getting ready to do a static fire on the Amos-6 Satellite from Israel. It just blew up on the pad.

Facebook was going to use spare bandwidth from the sat to provide internet to Africa.

China was going to buy the Israeli company and it's other sats provided this launch went fine.

Terrorism or technical failure?

$12M Fed. Contract to MU to Establish Education Program for NGA
[KMOX] ST. LOUIS (AP) - The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency has awarded a $12 million, five-year contract to the University of Missouri's Columbia campus to train NGA employees.

The contract, announced Wednesday, follows the NGA’s decision earlier this year to remain in St. Louis instead of moving to St. Louis County or Illinois.

The contract with the College of Engineering will focus on data science and other training needs identified by NGA. The agency anticipates 1,800 working students in St. Louis and Washington, D.C., will participate.

NGA employees will be paid for time in class. Those who complete the program will have a graduate certificate in data science and a master's degree from the university.

The agency is expected to break ground next year on a new $1.75 billion campus in north St. Louis.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
U.S., others agreed to 'secret' exemptions for Iran after nuclear deal
The United States and its negotiating partners agreed "in secret" to allow Iran to evade some restrictions in last year's landmark nuclear agreement in order to meet the deadline for it to start getting relief from economic sanctions, according to a report reviewed by Reuters.
I hear Darth Vader's voice in the background: "Pray I don't alter it any further."
The report is to be published on Thursday by the Washington-based Institute for Science and International Security, said the think tank’s president David Albright, a former U.N. weapons inspector and co-author of the report. It is based on information provided by several officials of governments involved in the negotiations, who Albright declined to identify.

"The exemptions or loopholes are happening in secret, and it appears that they favor Iran," Albright said.

Among the exemptions were two that allowed Iran to exceed the deal's limits on how much low-enriched uranium (LEU) it can keep in its nuclear facilities, the report said. LEU can be purified into highly enriched, weapons-grade uranium.

The exemptions, the report said, were approved by the joint commission the deal created to oversee implementation of the accord. The commission is comprised of the United States and its negotiating partners -- called the P5+1 -- and Iran.

One senior "knowledgeable" official was cited by the report as saying that if the joint commission had not acted to create these exemptions, some of Iran’s nuclear facilities would not have been in compliance with the deal by Jan. 16, the deadline for the beginning of the lifting of sanctions.
And so...
The U.S. administration has said that the world powers that negotiated the accord -- the United States, Russia, China, Britain, France and Germany -- made no secret arrangements. A White House official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the joint commission and its role were "not secret." He did not address the report's assertions of exemptions.
Of course it wasn't a "secret" -- the P5+1 all knew. How could it be a secret? So okay, they didn't tell the little people...
The report's assertions are likely to anger critics of the nuclear deal. Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has vowed to renegotiate the agreement if he's elected, while Democrat Hillary Clinton supports the accord.

Albright said the exceptions risked setting precedents that Iran could use to seek additional waivers.

Albright served as an inspector with the U.N. International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) team that investigated former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein's nuclear weapons program. While Albright has neither endorsed nor denounced the overall agreement, he has expressed concern over what he considers potential flaws in the nuclear deal, including the expiration of key limitations on Iran's nuclear work in 10-15 years.

The administration of President Barack Obama informed Congress of the exemptions on Jan. 16, said the report. Albright said the exemptions, which have not been made public, were detailed in confidential documents sent to Capitol Hill that day -- after the exemptions had already been granted.
They weren't about to ask permission...
The White House official said the administration had briefed Congress "frequently and comprehensively" on the joint commission's work.

Democratic Senator Bob Menendez, a leading critic of the Iran deal and a senior member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, told Reuters in an email: "I was not aware nor did I receive any briefing (on the exemptions).”

As part of the concessions that allowed Iran to exceed uranium limits, the joint commission agreed to exempt unknown quantities of 3.5 percent LEU contained in liquid, solid and sludge wastes stored at Iranian nuclear facilities, according to the report. The agreement restricts Iran to stockpiling only 300 kg of 3.5 percent LEU.

The commission approved a second exemption for an unknown quantity of near 20 percent LEU in "lab contaminant" that was determined to be unrecoverable, the report said. The nuclear agreement requires Iran to fabricate all such LEU into research reactor fuel.

If the total amount of excess LEU Iran possesses is unknown, it is impossible to know how much weapons-grade uranium it could yield, experts said.

The draft report said the joint commission also agreed to allow Iran to keep operating 19 radiation containment chambers larger than the accord set. These so-called "hot cells" are used for handling radioactive material but can be "misused for secret, mostly small-scale plutonium separation efforts," said the report. Plutonium is another nuclear weapons fuel.

The deal allowed Iran to meet a 130-tonne limit on heavy water produced at its Arak facility by selling its excess stock on the open market. But with no buyer available, the joint commission helped Tehran meet the sanctions relief deadline by allowing it to send 50 tonnes of the material -- which can be used in nuclear weapons production -- to Oman, where it was stored under Iranian control, the report said.

The shipment to Oman of the heavy water that can be used in nuclear weapons production has already been reported. Albright's report made the new assertion that the joint committee had approved this concession.

Calif. legislature poised to criminalize distribution of Planned Parenthood-type sting videos
[WAPO] The California legislature is near final approval of a bill that would make it a crime, punishable by a jail sentence, to carry out and distribute undercover video or audio stings against Planned Parenthood and other health-care groups.

The measure was inspired by two California antiabortion activists who made undercover videos of themselves trying to buy fetal tissue from Planned Parenthood. The project prompted multiple investigations by Congress and states, none of which found wrongdoing on the part of Planned Parenthood.

The bill was approved California state Senate Wednesday and enjoys broad support in the Assembly, which passed an earlier version and is expected to concur in several Senate amendments before sending it to Democratic Gov. Jerry Brown.

California law, like laws in other states, already bars use of an electronic device to listen in on or record people without their permission.

The new measure, authored by Assembly Member Jimmy Gomez with the backing of Planned Parenthood, protects health-care providers in particular and would prohibit the intentional disclosure of such recordings, video or audio, without the consent of all parties "in any forum, including, but not limited to, Internet Web sites and social media, or for any purpose ..."
One should go through Jimmy's campaign finance filings carefully. I suspect there won't be enough 'pro' between the 'quid' and the 'quo'...

Creepy thought experiment: What if we go into the election with one candidate?
[Hot Air] It's not even Labor Day yet, so we've got some time to while away until the general election in November. With that in mind, let's pause to think the formerly unthinkable. (Or at least the unlikely.) What happens if we get right up to the final couple of weeks before everyone heads to the polls and we suddenly only have one major party candidate still standing and in competition? That's the rather odd, but at least theoretically possible question posited by Steven Nelson at US News and World Report this week. The possible answers seem to range from nothing much with the process moving forward as it normally does to a delayed election or one which takes place without anyone voting.

The presidential election could be delayed or scrapped altogether if conspiracy theories become predictive and a candidate dies or drops out before Nov. 8. The perhaps equally startling alternative, if there’s enough time: Small groups of people hand-picking a replacement pursuant to obscure party rules.

The scenarios have been seriously considered by few outside of the legal community and likely are too morbid for polite discussion in politically mixed company. But prominent law professors have pondered the effects and possible ways to address a late-date vacancy.

"There’s nothing in the Constitution which requires a popular election for the electors serving in the Electoral College," says John Nagle, a law professor at the University of Notre Dame, meaning the body that officially elects presidents could convene without the general public voting.

"It’s up to each state legislature to decide how they want to choose the state’s electors," Nagle says. "It may be a situation in which the fact that we have an Electoral College, rather than direct voting for presidential candidates, may prove to be helpful."

To get the obvious point out of the way, this discussion is clearly pinging off of two theories which are popular in certain corners of the social media swamp these days. One holds that Hillary Clinton is actually so incredibly ill that she’s virtually at death’s doorstep and could kick the bucket before November 8th. The other is that Donald Trump is a Manchurian Candidate for the Democrats and he’ll throw in the towel and walk away before anyone gets a chance to vote for him. But even if you subscribe to one (or both?) of these ideas, what happens next?

On Thursday night the Trump Campaign website crashed following his immigration speech in Phoenix, Arizona.

The donations page is down due to "unusually high volume of traffic." This was at 10:53 PM.

Did the server go haywire and need to be rebooted? Did it lose data? Or did it just become unresponsive because it had reached a set number of processes and had to finish some of the queries before it could take any more? Can't expect a journalist to know the difference.

Professors advise students to drop class if they question climate change
[Wash Times] DENVER -- The University of Colorado at Colorado Springs is coming under fire after three professors warned their class that there would be no debate on human-caused climate change and that any students who disagree should drop the course.

The professors, who are team-teaching the fall online course Medical Humanities in the Digital Age, issued the memo after some students expressed concerns about the first online lecture on climate change, according to the College Fix, which obtained a copy of the email.

"The point of departure for this course is based on the scientific premise that human induced climate change is valid and occurring," said the professors. "We will not, at any time, debate the science of climate change, nor will the ’other side’ of the climate change debate be taught or discussed in this course."

"Opening up a debate that 98% of climate scientists unequivocally agree to be a nondebate would detract from the central concerns of environment and health addressed in this course," they added.

For those who disagree with the course’s premise, "we respectfully ask that you do not take this course, as there are options within the Humanities program for face to face this semester and online next."

#18  From Wiki:

Medical humanities can be defined as an interdisciplinary, and increasingly international endeavor that draws on the creative and intellectual strengths of diverse disciplines, including literature, art, creative writing, drama, film, music, philosophy, ethical decision making, anthropology, and history, in pursuit of medical educational goals. The humanistic sciences are relevant when multiple people’s perspectives on issues are compiled together to answer questions or even create questions. The arts can provide additional perspective to the sciences.

I must say, in 35 years of being a doctor, I've not heard anyone take "medical humanities" seriously except in the most abstract way. It's more a way for the artsy-types to horn in on the money tree at a medical school. We do have medical ethics groups (useful), and there are any number of physicians interested in medical history and literature.

But the idea that we'd use all the things listed above to tell us how to practice medicine? In their dreams. I ignore these people, as do most doctors.

The ‘War On Coal' Unexpectedly Hits A Washington Town Struggling To Get By
[Daily Caller] LONGVIEW, Wash. -- In the morning, the industrial site nestled along the Columbia River is eerily quiet.
'Unexpectedly' to some possibly. 'Don't cry for me Argentina.'
Lori Black is one of the first employees to arrive most days. She knows the site well, has worked there for 12 years. Five years ago, Millennium Bulk Terminals acquired the 540-acre site. Officials planned to convert an old aluminium smelter into a profitable industrial export facility. They restored a wetland area in one part of the site to show their commitment and began the permit process to export coal.

That was four years ago.

Today, there are more birds and fish on the site than workers, and the coal terminal project has yet to be approved. The project’s environmental approval process is nearing the longest in the history of Washington state.

New Book: History Is 'Entirely Incompatible' With Islam
[PJ] An American Muslim who investigated the historical evidence for Islam and Christianity discovered an astounding truth: the evidence is "entirely incompatible" with Islam, while it supports the three greatest arguments for Christianity.

"It was not just that history did not support the traditional narratives of Islam, but rather that history proved to be entirely incompatible with Islamic origins," writes Nabeel Qureshi (emphasis his), author of the book No God But One: Allah or Jesus? A Former Muslim Investigates the Evidence for Islam & Christianity. The book, released Tuesday, provides a deep investigation of the key differences between the two faiths and delves into the historical evidence (or lack thereof) for each.

Qureshi investigates five basic claims, each disputed by either side. He asks the question of whether there is enough evidence that "an objective observer" would conclude in favor of Christianity or Islam. The arguments for Christianity: that Jesus died on the cross, that his disciples believed he rose from the dead, and that he claimed to be God. The arguments for Islam: that Muhammad is a prophet of Allah, and that the Quran is inspired by Allah.

As the Quran is the "why" of the Islamic faith, I will begin there, and move to Muhammad. Then, I will dive into Qureshi's arguments for Christianity.

Turkey's purge: 31 detained, 40 arrested, Interior Minister resigns, and the Gulen movement was founded by CIA
Turkish interior minister quits, says PM, after string of attacks

[ALMASDARNEWS] Turkey’s Interior Minister Efkan Ala has resigned, Prime Minister Binali Yildirim said on Wednesday, after a string of bombings and attacks blamed on Islamic State and Kurdish insurgents that prompted public criticism.

The Interior Ministry portfolio has been filled by Labour Minister Suleyman Soylu, the prime minister said in a statement which was broadcast on Turkish television stations.

Turkish judge seeks asylum in Greece

[AlAhram] A 48-year-old Turkish judge has requested political asylum in Greece, claiming persecution by the government of President Tayyip Erdogan, the Athens News Agency said on Tuesday.

The Greek coast guard said only that a Turkish national had been arrested on Tuesday after being rescued along with six migrants from a boat off the Greek island of Chios. It did not give the nationality of the migrants. The coast guard and police would not comment specifically on the agency report.

Former AKP lawmaker and 30 others detained, 40 police arrested over Gülen links

[Hurriyet] A former lawmaker from the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) has been detained over suspected links to the Fethullahist Terrorist Organization (FETÖ).
Given that Fethullah is the gentleman's first name, this is like talking about the dreaded Georgeists...
Lawyer İdris Şahin, a former AKP deputy from the Central Anatolian province of Çankırı and deputy chairman of the constitutional commission, was detained in an operation launched by the Çankırı police’s counter-smuggling and organized crime department. Searches were carried out in Şahin’s house and office.

Meanwhile, a total of 30 people were detained in an operation against FETÖ in the Central Anatolian province of Konya early on Aug. 31.

The Konya Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office launched an investigation over the failed seizure of the government
...perhaps that has some sort of meaning in the original Turkish, but I suspect not -- the Communists used to proclaim all sorts of nonsense during their purges, as I recall...
and a total of 90 detention warrants were issued as part of the probe.

Konya-based operations were carried out simultaneously in 22 provinces by counter-smuggling and organized crime department units. Operations were conducted at a total of 90 addresses, which resulted in 30 detentions.

Teachers and professors who were suspended after the coup bid were among the detained, as well as the Gülen movement’s suspected provincial and district “imams” and accountants. Police officers, who previously were on duty in Konya and now assigned to different provinces, were also detained in the operation.

Searches were continuing to apprehend the suspects who couldn’t be found at their addresses.
Here's hoping they've managed to escape, or at least to find secure hiding places.
Books written by U.S.-based Islamic preacher Fethullah Gülen were found in the searches conducted at the addresses, Doğan News Agency reported.

Elsewhere, a total of 40 police officers, including high ranking officials, were arrested over links to Gülenists in the western province of İzmir on Aug. 31. The police officers were arrested for “being members of an armed terrorist organization,” Anadolu Agency reported.

Gülen movement ‘founded by CIA like the Mormons and Scientologists,’ says Turkish prosecutor
Utterly insane.
[Hurriyet] A Turkish prosecutor probing the financial links of the Fethullah Gülen movement has said the organizational structure of the group is the same as the Mormon Church and the Church of Scientology in the United States, claiming that all three groups were founded by U.S. intelligence.

The CIA organizes these sects as non-governmental organizations in order “to make changes to society,” read the indictment prepared Zafer Dur, a prosecutor in the Aegean province of İzmir.

The system that the Gülenists have built over years up in the education, heath, political, technology and culture sectors aims at the same thing as these churches, Dur said.

He claimed that it would not be possible for a primary school graduate, 75-year-old Fethullah Gülen, who has been living in the U.S. since 1999, to have built up such a large organization and infiltrated vital state organizations through his own efforts and abilities.

“Without international backing, Gülen could not have opened schools in 160 countries,” Dur added.
But his imperial majesty, the wise and all-seeing neo-Ottoman Sultan Recep I was best friends with this evil idiot for so many years. How could this be?
The prosecutor also established a link between the arrest of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party’s (PKK) leader in 1999 and Gülen moving to the U.S. in the same year.

“Investigative journalists have been reporting that [Gülenists] worked as contractors for foreign intelligence services such as the CIA, MI6 and BND and infiltrated into the intelligence services of other countries acting in the name of the services they worked for,” read the indictment.

Sinai attacks decline as Egypt’s fight against IS yields results
[IsraelTimes] Through targeted bombings on Islamic State’s Jabal Hilal stronghold, Egyptian military deals strong blow to terror

There has been a steady and significant decline in terror attacks carried out by the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
in the Sinai Peninsula in recent months, according to both Egyptian and Israeli sources.

Though the Islamic State’s armed activities continue apace in the northeast triangle framed by the Israel, Gazoo and Egypt borders, there have been fewer terror attacks on the Egyptian army, with a smaller number of casualties than last year, and the attacks have been less ambitious than those IS carried out in 2014 and 2015, as a result of the group’s weakened force and diminished weapons supply.

The Egyptian military’s operations in the central Sinai Peninsula and a series of Arclight airstrikes in the Jabal Hilal region -- a terrorist-controlled area -- have dealt a powerful blow to IS’s military capabilities, the sources said.

For the past few years, Jabal Hilal has been the stronghold of the hard boy group in the peninsula, mostly due to its topography.

The region’s extensive cave system -- it is considered the "Tora Bora of the Sinai," an allusion to the rugged region of Afghanistan that Taliban and al-Qaeda gunnies made into a bastion against the United States -- has made it the preferred destination for IS, the current iteration of the Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis
...Supporters of Jerusalem, the current pen name of al-Qaeda in the Sinai Peninsula...
group.

Three months ago, toward the end of May, the Egyptian military spokesperson, Col. Muhammad Samir announced the killings of "88 armed members of the jihadist group in central and northern Sinai."

May’s large-scale aerial campaign not only took out nearly 100 IS operatives, it also injured hundreds more, dozens of them seriously. In addition to the human casualties, the bombings destroyed the group’s weapons storage facilities and ammunition caches, which had been kept hidden for years.

Essentially, the "logistic front" of the Islamic State in Sinai was destroyed, the sources said.

Around the same time, Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi also discussed the actions against IS, which focused on Jabal Hilal, an area that is seen as particularly problematic. According to Sissi, there had been a significant victory in the fight against terror. However,
nothing needs reforming like other people's bad habits...
he clarified, the state of emergency for Egypt would continue.

Earlier this month, the Egyptian military announced another achievement, the execution of Abu Duaa al-Ansari, the presumed commander of the Islamic State in Sinai, formerly known as Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis.

According to the military’s statement, the series of bombings south of el-Arish -- the historic provincial capital of the Sinai -- in which al-Ansari was killed came as the result of precise intelligence. During the bombings, a number of weapons storehouses were destroyed and some 45 operatives were killed.

Throughout 2015, dozens of Egyptian soldiers were killed by IS, with the worst attack taking place during the month of Ramadan in simultaneous assaults on a number of Egyptian military outposts near the town of Sheikh Zuweid that left over 50 dead.

Since the July 1, 2015 attack, however, the Egyptian military’s intelligence has improved. In addition, security collaboration and cooperation with Israel has continued.

Recently, Egypt has made a number of significant gestures in the diplomatic realm, including a rare meet-up between its foreign minister and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, that testify to the closeness of the two sides.

#1  A bit of history:

"August 23, 2012
The non-existence of the state’s presence in Sinai means the region has long been dominated by various rogue forces, from Islamist militants to human traffickers.
There are many reasons why the rise of religious extremism in Sinai seems a logical outcome or perhaps even an inevitability, prime among them being the absence of the state in all its forms. This has turned this part of Egypt into a fertile ground for any group that competes with the state over its sovereignty."

Germany investigating 64 suspected extremist Islamists in armed forces

[Ynet] Germany's military counter-intelligence agency is investigating 64 suspected "extremist Islamists" working for the armed forces, a spokesman for the Defence Ministry said on Wednesday.

The 64 could include civilian as well as uniformed employees, the spokesman added. People judged to be "extremist Islamists" are not permitted to work for the military.

Between 2007 and 2016, 30 "extremist Islamists" went to Syria or Iraq after being employed in the armed forces, the spokesman said. Nineteen people were discharged from the forces for being "extremist Islamists" during that period.

3 detained in Serbia for trying to smuggle 64 Afghans

[Ynet] Serbia's Defense Ministry says three people have been detained for attempting to smuggle 64 migrants from Afghanistan, including a pregnant woman and a baby. The ministry said Tuesday that a joint police and army patrol near the border with Bulgaria caught the smugglers late Monday as they were transferring the migrants. It says a group of 34 migrants were packed in a van, while another 30 migrants were about to board two cars. They included mostly men, four women, children and a baby.

Aid group: Rise in minors at Calais migrant camp

[Ynet] A leading French humanitarian organization says the number of minors alone in a makeshift camp in Calais has increased by 151 percent to 861 -- with the youngest 10 years old.

France Terre d'Asile says it spent three days last week counting kids alone in the camp in northern France and the figure had soared since a May count of 343. It concurred with other aid groups which put the overall camp population at a record of around 9,000.

The Calais region prefecture says that since March, 55 children have been able to join families in Britain -- the dream of most Calais migrants.

Danish PM seeks emergency law to reject asylum seekers at borders

[Ynet] The Danish government on Tuesday proposed adoption of a law that would enable police to reject asylum seekers at the borders in times of crisis such as that in 2015 when thousands of migrants sought to enter the country. Denmark has already implemented tough immigration policies since a heavy influx of refugees last year, including border controls and a "jewellery bill", allowing the police to confiscate refugees' valuables.

The government seeks to create a statutory power to reject asylum-seekers at the border to prevent a recurrence of the refugee crisis in September last year, the Ministry for Immigration, Integration and Housing said.

Nearly 10,000 migrants rescued on Mediterranean in two days

[DeutscheWelle] The Italian coastguard on Tuesday rescued some 3,000 migrants in the Strait of Sicily with the aid of the EU's border agency Frontex and humanitarian organizations, bringing the total to nearly 10,000 in two days.

More than 100,000 migrants have made the perilous journey across the central Mediterranean in 2016, many of them fleeing conflict and extreme poverty in Africa and the Middle East. Some 3,000 of them are estimated to have died during the journey this year.

However, the number of migrants arriving to the EU has fallen compared to the same period last year. IOM said some 12,600 people made it to the bloc in August, down from 23,500 in the same month last year.

Some 9,000 refugee children reported to have disappeared in Germany
How much is an artifact of paperwork? No doubt the numbers will fall once the overwhelmed system catches up on cross-referencing individual multiple registrations within Germany and across Europe.
[DeutscheWelle] Germany's federal police says the number of missing refugee children has doubled since the start of the year. Most of the children are aged between 14 and 17-years-old.

Germany's Federal Criminal Police Office (Bundeskriminalamt) has confirmed that by July 1, 8,991 unaccompanied refugee children and young people had been reported missing. The figures, which were requested by the German daily "Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung," showed the number of migrants no longer in contact with authorities was already higher than for the whole of last year. The figure has doubled from January, when 4,749 refugees were known to be missing.

Although most of those who disappeared are teenagers, 867 of them are under 13 years old.
Possibilities listed in the article: joined criminal gangs; arrived with plan to unite with friends or relations within or outside Germany, left place of registration to do that; registered more than once, but with no papers and multiple spellings of name, no way to check.

[Ynet] A French police officer was wounded by a knife-wielding man at a police station in the southern city of Toulouse on Tuesday, a police source said. Local newspaper La Depeche Du Midi said the 31 year-old man entered the police station pretending to want to make a complaint. He then launched an attack with a knife on the female officer, wounding her on her neck. The assailant also tried to grab her weapon before he was subdued.

PKK militants block road, set trucks ablaze in Turkey’s southeast
[Hurriyet] Outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) murderous Moslems have set 11 trucks ablaze in a tunnel and on a motorway, while also blocking the road in the southeastern province of Bitlis, Dogan News Agency reported on Aug. 31.

The murderous Moslems destroyed nine large trucks, one smaller one and another one belonging to the state’s waterworks body, Bitlis Governor Ahmet Cinar said, as reported by the agency.

The murderous Moslems in the area fled after security forces launched an operation, which was still underway, he added.
Eight people were detained for lending support to the Death Eaters, who used civilians as "live shields" during the attacks, the governor said.

A 21-year-old student at Onyedi Eylul Universitiy in the northwestern Turkish town of Bandirma was detained after sharing a photo of himself dancing with the PKK murderous Moslems in Bitlis, according to the governor. The school will also launch a probe, he added.

Separately, one PKK Death Eater was killed on the outskirts of the Cukurca district in the southeastern province of Hakkari during a clash with the military, the agency reported.

Five soldiers were maimed in the clash in the early hours of Aug. 31, it said.

The clash erupted when a group of murderous Moslems fired rifles at soldiers en route to an operation.

The Turkish Air Force hit six PKK targets in Cukurca on Aug. 31, the military said in a statement.

Deportations under President Obama could hit 10-year low
[The Hill] The number of undocumented immigrants deported by President Obama is falling and could hit a 10-year low in 2016 just as the issue heats up in this year’s presidential race.

Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) figures from June suggest 230,000 people could be removed or returned from the country by the end of the fiscal year next month, slightly fewer than the 235,413 deported in 2015. That was the lowest number since 2006.

While the total does not include people caught attempting to illegally cross borders, it still highlights a change in enforcement patterns under Obama. Obama was once criticized by Rep. Luis Gutiérrez (D-Ill.) on the House floor in 2014 as the "deporter-in-chief" because of the high number of deportations under his administration.

In 2012, removals under the Obama administration peaked, with ICE reporting that 409,849 people were sent back to their home countries.

The rising number coincided with efforts to reach a deal in Congress on comprehensive immigration reform that would have included a pathway to legal status for undocumented workers in the country. Republicans were demanding that Obama toughen enforcement.

After the legislation failed, Obama shifted his strategy, pursuing executive actions that allowed some groups of undocumented immigrants to remain in the country.

The White House also exercised executive authority by changing its enforcement priorities to violent offenders, which resulted in a drop in the number of people being arrested within the interior country and deported.

"[The Department of Homeland Security] has placed more of a priority on border removals and has tried to scale back on the interior," said Faye Hipsman, a policy analyst at the Migration Policy Institute.

While total deportations decreased, the proportion of criminal aliens as a percentage of removals increased from 31 percent in 2008 to 59 percent in 2015.

[The Hill] President Obama’s former physician said that he believes Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton should have a neurological examination due to her history of brain injury.

During an interview on CNN, Dr. David Scheiner argued that Clinton’s note from her doctor isn’t enough. The letter details that Clinton had follow-up testing in 2013 that showed a full recovery from a concussion and that she tested negative for clotting disorders.
"I think she should have had a neurological examination, a thorough neurological examination in 2016," Scheiner said Tuesday night. "We know what happens to football players who have had concussions, how they begin to lose some of their cognitive ability. I think both of them should release their records."

Scheiner also critiqued Donald Trump’s health, saying he believes the GOP nominee needs to release real medical records that include information like height and weight. He also panned Trump’s doctor's note, which the doctor said was written in five minutes.

"I think you need real details, I think you need actual medical records," he continued. "I’d like to know his height and weight. He looks a little bit overweight to me."

The interview comes as Trump has been calling into question Clinton’s health, saying earlier this month that she "lacks the mental and physical stamina to take on" the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS). Breitbart News, the conservative site whose executive editor recently joined Trump's campaign as its CEO, has also published stories about these rumors.

Last week, an NBC report revealed that Trump’s long-time doctor spent five minutes writing his letter last year that claimed the real estate mogul would be the healthiest president ever elected and that he wrote it while a limo sent by Trump’s campaign was outside the doctor’s office. Following that report, Trump on Sunday said that both candidates "should release detailed medical records."

"This is arguably one of the most important things Dr. Bornstein ever wrote and he showed absolutely no concern for the public to whom it was really meant to read," Scheiner said in the Tuesday interview.

Brazil's Senate removes President Rousseff from office
[USATODAY] After an emotionally charged, late-night debate, the Brazilian Senate voted Wednesday to remove suspended President Dilma Rousseff from office for fiscal irregularities, a move she said amounted to an illegal coup.

The 61-20 vote capped a year-long power struggle between Rousseff's long-governing leftist government and opposition senators and comes less than two weeks after the Rio Olympics, which highlighted Brazil but also put the country's economic and political woes on international display.

Two hours after the Senate voted to remove her from office, Rousseff addressed a small crowd of supporters in a defiant speech in which she again claimed she was ousted by a "coup d'etat."

"Hear me well: they think that they have beaten us, but they're mistaken. We'll all fight. There will be a firm, untiring and energetic opposition to their government," she said as women surrounding her applauded.

In an unexpected second vote, senators failed to reach the two-thirds majority needed to ban Rousseff from public office for the next eight years -- leaving open the possibility that Rousseff could run again in 2018, or serve in a future government.

Assange: American Media Helping To Elect ‘Demon’ Hillary Clinton
[INQUISITR] WikiLeaks founder and editor in chief Julian Assange is apparently convinced that the American liberal media is unified in its goal to elect a "demonic" Hillary Clinton
... sometimes described as For a good time at 3 a.m. call Hillary and at other times as Mrs. Bill, never as Another Henry Kissinger ...
as president of the United States.

The controversial Assange made this allegation during a New York Times
...which still proudly displays Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize...
interview that was broadcast today on Facebook Live.

He has previously vowed that more emails involving Hillary Clinton would be released into the public domain beyond the thousands that have been posted on the WikiLeaks portal.

Today, Assange also assailed what he called the "neo-McCarthyist hysteria" among the political establishment in blaming Russia for hacked emails in July that proved embarrassing or worse to the Hillary Clinton campaign and a cohort of Democrat insiders to the detriment of former rival Bernie Sanders
...The only openly Socialist member of the U.S. Senate. Sanders was Representative-for-Life from Vermont until moving to the Senate for the rest of his life in 2006, assuming the seat vacated by Jim Jeffords...

Syrian Army, Hezbollah storm important southern Aleppo base
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Syrian Arab Army (SAA), backed by Hezbollah and Liwaa Al-Quds (Paleostinian paramilitary), stormed the Technical College in southern Aleppo, seizing large parts of this key military installation that was under the control of Jaish Al-Fateh (Army of Conquest).

According to local reports in southern Aleppo, the Syrian Armed Forces and their allies managed to break-through the jihadist first-line of defense at the Technical College after almost withdrawing from the military installation.

Clashes are still ongoing at the Technical College; however, the Syrian Armed Forces and their allies are close to seizing the entire base.

Meanwhile,
...back at the shouting match, a new, even louder, voice was to be heard...
at Qarassi to the south, Jaish Al-Fateh managed to seize this village from the Tiger Forces after launching a counter-assault earlier today.

Despite the capture of Qarassi by Jaish Al-Fateh, the Syrian Armed Forces still remain in control of almost all points they seized from the jihadist rebels on Tuesday.

Chagoury has been a close ally of former Nigerian dictator Gen. Sani Abacha and has tried to influence U.S. policy in the dictator’s favor. The State Department has also been investigating the billionaire, who has Lebanese roots, for his ties to Leb. He is currently on a no-fly list, in part because of his connection to Lebanese Christian politician and former Lebanese Army commander Michel Aoun

A 2013 FBI intelligence report has indicated that Chagoury provided funding to Aoun funds, which Aoun transferred to Hezbollah. When Chagoury applied for a tourist visa in the summer of 2015, the state department denied his request on grounds related to funding terrorism. Chagoury denies any link to Hezbollah.

Tunisia: Security forces kill al-Qaeda-linked militants planning suicide attacks
[IBTIMES.CO.UK] Police in Tunisia have killed two Islamist Lions of Islam in possession of a prepared suicide belt in dawn raids on the Death Eater hotbed of Kasserine.

Rooters reported that the murderous Moslems, believed to be linked to al-Qaeda, were tracked by police following an earlier ambush on an army patrol.

"A security operation carried out this morning (31 August), in Karma town, was a preventive assault against two forces of Evil planning attacks in the region," the ministry said in a statement. Weapons, a suicide belt and other material was seized in the house.

One civilian was killed over the course of a shoot-out, an unnamed security source was quoted as saying.

On 29 August, three soldiers were killed and eight maimed in an ambush, as Lions of Islam attacked with landmines, rockets and gunfire.

North Korea executes top-ranking education minister by firing squad
[IBTIMES.CO.UK] North Korea has reportedly executed a top-ranking education minister and punished two other senior political figures, South Korea has said. Seoul claimed that Kim Yong-jin, 63, who was the vice premier for education, was executed by a firing squad.

South Korea's unification ministry said the high-ranking education minister, was said to be reprimanded in July. The ministry's spokesperson Jeong Joon-hee did not reveal the reason behind the execution.

Jeong said another Pyongyang official, Kim Yong-chol, chief of the powerful United Front Department that handles relations with rival South Korea, was forced to undertake "revolutionary measures". It means Yong-chol, 71, was sent to work in a rural farm in hard labour for a month. The South Korean ministry has a mixed track record of accurately reporting executions taking place in the secretive neighbouring country.

A South Korean official was cited as saying: "As Kim [Yong-chol] will be more inclined to show his loyalty (to the North's leader) after (re-education), so the government is keeping close tabs on the possibility that North Korea would show a more hardline attitude toward South Korea."

on suspicion of shooting a 31-year-old man who she found in the bedroom of her teenage daughter. Valerie Fowler, 34, is accused of assault with a deadly weapon following a shooting at her home in Paoli in Garvin County.

Police said they received two calls relating to a shooting at about 7.20am (1.20pm BST) on 29 August. When officers arrived at the scene, they found a 31-year-old man with gunshot wounds nearby. He was taken to a hospital by air ambulance with non-life threatening injuries.

According to Koko Oklahoma City, the man, who has not been identified, would visit her the teenage girl at least three times a week after her mother left for work.

Following a search of the address, officers found a gun believed to have been used in the shooting.

A spokesperson from the Garvin County County Sheriff's Office said: "The Garvin County 911 Center received two separate calls this morning related to a possible shooting in Paoli. The calls were received at 7.20 a.m. Members of the Garvin County Sheriff's Office and Paoli Police Chief Mike Lewis responded with the assistance of Pauls Valley Police Department.

Malaysia detains suspected militants, foils attacks
[JAPANTIMES.CO.JP] Malaysian police said Wednesday they had foiled possible attacks on the eve of the country’s Independence Day with the detention of three suspected Islamic State

members.

National police chief Khalid Abu Bakar said the three men had planned to attack entertainment centers in Kuala Lumpur, a Hindu temple that is also a popular tourist destination and cop shoppes with grenades or firearms on Tuesday.

Malaysia marked its 59th National Day on Wednesday with a grand parade in the city.

Khalid said the men, detained in a three-day operation from Saturday, had received orders to launch attacks from Muhammad Wanndy Muhammad Jedi, a Malaysian fighting with the Islamic State group in Syria. Police also seized a grenade and a handgun with 24 bullets from one of the suspects.

Khalid said the trio -- a truck driver, a butcher and a drink seller -- had planned to fly to Syria to join the Islamic State group following the attacks.

Police had earlier said that Muhammad Wanndy was believed to have ordered a grenade attack in June on a bar outside Kuala Lumpur, marking the myrmidons’ first attack in the country.

Moslem-majority Malaysia has detained 200 suspected bully boyz over the last three years, and police raised the security alert level earlier this year following attacks abroad.

Prosecutor Probes Trump Campaign CEO Stephen Bannon's Voter Record
[NBCNEWS] Florida prosecutors are investigating the voter registration of Donald Trump's campaign chief, NBC News has learned.
They wouldn't be Dems, would they?
Election officials in Miami-Dade County confirmed Tuesday that the local state attorney's office requested Stephen Bannon's voter records last week.
Ummm... Yeah, she is. Replaced Janet Reno, routinely runs unopposed.
"I know that there is an investigation but I know very little about it," said Rosy Pastrana, executive assistant to the county's election supervisor. "They requested voter records for him, which is why I know there is an investigation going on."

Pastrana told NBC News there was nothing obvious in Bannon's voter record that suggested fraud to her, especially since he had not voted in Miami-Dade since registering there in April 2014.

"There is nothing here that I see that he did wrong," she said.

Ed Griffith, a front man for the Miami-Dade state attorney, said he could not confirm or deny an investigation was under way but noted that his office could open a probe based on any question of possible violations, even inquiries from the media.

"As a prosecutorial agency, we investigate all potential crimes brought to our attention," Griffith said. "If it was brought to our attention we would certainly review any potential crime to see if it is indeed a crime or an administrative violation."

Afghanistan fighting the forces of devil and darkness: Abdullah
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The Chief Executive Officer Abdullah Abdullah
... the former foreign minister of the Northern Alliance government, advisor to Masood, and candidate for president against Karzai. Dr. Abdullah was born in Kabul and is half Tadjik and half Pashtun...
said Afghanistan is fighting the forces of devil and darkness as he insisted on increasing support to the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF).

In his speech during a conference on the Future of Police in Afghanistan, CEO Abdullah said Afghanistan is facing a fight that is against humanity.

Abdullah further added that the terrorist groups fighting in Afghanistan have no faith in peace and stability.

The CEO also emphasized to increase the number female service members among the Afghan police ranks, insisting that such a move could bring the communities closer to police.

He said the leadership of the Ministry of Interior and senior level commanders have been instructed to take extra measures to reach out to the police who are sacrificing their lives for the people of Afghanistan.

In other parts of his speech, Abdullah thanked the international community for their support to rebuild the Afghan police, specifically mentioning the EUPOL’s contribution.

According to Abdullah, the Afghan police is in a better shape today in terms of quantity and quality as he reaffirmed government’s commitment to take necessary measures in a bid to maintain a self reliant police force.

He said the government is committed to take necessary measures to bring reforms in police to help bring the police forces to their original service of protecting rule of law.

Russia questions evidence of Syria chemical attacks
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The UN Security Council failed to agree Tuesday on whether Syria merited sanctions over the use of chemical weapons, with Russia questioning the evidence from an independent commission that found government forces were behind at least two such attacks.

Council members met to discuss the findings of an international team of inspectors that determined that both the Syrian government and ISIS gunnies were responsible for chemical attacks carried out in 2014 and 2015.

But Russian Ambassador Vitaly Churkin, whose country is a close ally of the Syrian government, said it was too early to consider implementing a September 2013 council resolution authorizing sanctions that can be militarily enforced for any use of chemical weapons in Syria.

"Clearly there is a smoking gun. We know that chlorine most likely has been used - that was already the finding of the fact finding mission before - but there are no fingerprints on the gun," Churkin said following the closed-door session.

"There is nobody to sanction in the report which has been issued," he said. "It contains no names, it contains no specifics. ... If we are to be professional, we need to question all the conclusions."

Churkin said, however, that he was pleased the report had confirmed the use of chemical weapons by ISIS.

Heading into the meeting, US Ambassador Samantha Power called the report "a landmark" and said she expected a Security Council resolution "soon."

"It is the first official independent confirmation of what many of us ... have presented substantial evidence of for a long time, and that is a pattern of chemical weapons use by the Syrian regime," Power said. "It is incumbent on the council to act swiftly to show ... we were serious about there being meaningful accountability."

murderous Moslem group.

Ismael Ould Cheikh Ahmed told the UN Security Council on Wednesday that the two myrmidon groups "continue to wreak havoc in significant parts of Yemen."

He pointed to Monday’s suicide kaboom by ISIS in the southern city of Aden.

While the Yemeni army’s growing ability to confront murderous Moslem groups is encouraging, Cheikh Ahmed said "the absence of the state in many parts of Yemen, in addition to the chaos created by war, will continue to facilitate the expansion of these terrorist groups which represents a real threat to the region."

[ALMASDARNEWS] The Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) 105th Brigade of the Republican Guard, backed by the National Defense Forces (NDF), launched a new attack in the East Ghouta region of rural Damascus on Wednesday night, targeting Jaish al-Islam
...Liwa al-Islam (Brigade of Islam) was established by Zahran Alloush, the son of Saudi-based religious scholar Abdullah Mohammed Alloush, after Syrian authorities released him from prison in mid-2011 where he had been serving time for his Salafist activism. The group claimed responsibility for carrying out the July 2012 Damascus bombing that killed Defense Minister Dawoud Rajiha, Deputy Defense Minister Asef Shawkat, and Assistant Vice President Hassan Turkmani. It was a driving force behind actions in the Damascus region. It cooperated and conducted joint operations with al-Nusra. In Sptember 2013 Saudi Arabia engineered Liwa al-Islam's merger with fifty other more or less Salafist groups as a counterweight to al-Nusra, which the Learned Elders of Islam considered was growing too powereful...
’s (Army of Islam) defenses at Sawwan Hill.

The 105th Brigade and their allies managed to break-through Jaish Al-Islam’s first-line of defense at the southern perimeter of Sawwan Hill, leaving them in control of half this site near Tal Kurdi.

According to a local field report released by the Syrian Armed Forces, the 105th Brigade is currently attacking Sawwan Hill’s northern perimeter amid fierce resistance from Jaish Al-Islam and their allies.

If the Syrian Armed Forces capture Sawwan Hill tonight, they will have imposed fire control over Tal Kurdi, which is considered the gateway to the Jaish Al-Islam stronghold of Douma.

10 years jail, 2,000 lashes for Saudi man who said he is atheist
[ALMASDARNEWS] A Saudi court has sentenced a 28-year old man to ten years prison, 2,000 lashes and a fine around $5000 for tweeting that he was an atheist.

The man had refused to repent and expressed his beliefs that he had a right to express them.

A law that defines atheism as "terrorism" is what he was charged under.

Article one of the law defined terrorism as "calling for atheist thought in any form, or calling into question the fundamentals of the Islamic religion on which this country is based".

Saudi Arabia says Houthis will not be allowed to take over Yemen
[AlArabiya] Saudi Arabia’s foreign minister said on Wednesday the Iranian-allied Houthi militias will not be allowed to take over Yemen, as he accused Iran of seeking to sow unrest around the region.

The head of a Houthi-backed ruling council pledged readiness on Monday to resume negotiations on ending Yemen’s war but reserved the right to resist attacks by the Saudi-backed internationally recognized government.

UN-sponsored talks to try to end 18 months of fighting collapsed in failure this month and the Houthi militias and allied forces loyal to former president Ali Abdullah Saleh resumed shelling into neighboring Saudi Arabia.

The talks foundered after the Houthis and Saleh’s General People’s Congress (GPC) announced the formation of the 10-member governing council on Aug 6., ignoring a warning by UN Yemen envoy Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed that such a move would violate UN Security Council resolutions on how to solve the conflict.

Speaking to Reuters in Beijing, Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir said the ball was in the Houthis’ court as to whether peace talks resumed.

“What is certain, not questionable, certain, they will not be allowed to take over Yemen. Period. So the legitimate government will be defended,” al-Jubeir said.

“The chance they have is to enter the political process, reach an agreement ... for the benefit of all Yemenis including the Houthis,” he said.

Speaking earlier to students at a Beijing university, al-Jubeir lambasted Iran.

“We see Iran supporting Houthis in Yemen and trying to take over the government, supply weapons to the Houthis, smuggle explosives to Bahrain, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia,” he said.

“We wish we could be as good neighbours like before the 1979 revolution,” al-Jubeir said.

“It’s up to Iran to mend its behaviour.”

ISIS began the offensive by sending three VBIEDs (vehicle borne improvised bomb) towards the Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) defenses at both the Mouzafeen and Al-’Arfi districts; however, all three were destroyed before they could reach their intended targets.

Following the failed VBIED attacks, the Islamic State holy warriors simultaneously the Al-’Arfi and Mouzafeen districts; this resulted in a series of intense firefights that ended with the holy warriors retreating from both districts.

The Politics of ‘the Good’ and ‘the Bad’ Taliban
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] Ever since President Ashraf Ghani
...former chancellor of Kabul University, now president of Afghanistan. Before returning to Afghanistan in 2002 he was a scholar of political science and anthropology. He worked at the World Bank working on international development assistance. As Finance Minister of Afghanistan between July 2002 and December 2004, he led Afghanistan's attempted economic recovery until the Karzais stole all the money. ..
has assumed office about two years ago, Afghan-Pak relations have witnessed many ups and downs. President Ghani in an exclusive interview with Pakistain’s famous Geo Television about a month ago tried to articulate his country’s case in the strongest possible terms. On this occasion, President Ghani’s message to the government of Pakistain was loud and clear: enough is enough and double standards are not acceptable.

Pakistain has consistently maintained claims of its sacrifices in the fight against terrorism in terms of human losses and financial resources. Afghanistan does recognize the loss of lives on the Pak side as well the sacrifices of its international partners in the fight against terrorism. Yet, its argument is why Pakistain continues to differentiate between the ’good’ and the ’bad’ Taliban. When Pakistain talks about its fight against the Taliban, it fails to clarify which category of the Taliban it is referring to; ’the good’ ones or ’the bad’ ones. It is no longer a hidden truth that Pakistain does fight the hard boyz that targets it, which it terms as the ’bad Taliban’. On the other hand, it provides sanctuaries to those conducting myrmidon operations in Afghanistan calling them as the ’good Taliban’. As President Ghani has repeatedly emphasized, unless all terrorist groups are dealt with in a similar manner, the sincerity of Pakistain’s so-called fight against terrorism will be looked at with mistrust.

Massive convoy of reinforcements arrive in northern Hama
[ALMASDARNEWS] A massive convoy from the ‘Ali Shalish group and National Defense Forces (NDF) arrived to the city of Mhardeh on Wednesday night, ahead of their planned counter-offensive to retake the territory to the jihadist rebels earlier this week.

The Syrian Arab Army’s “Tiger Forces” are expected to lead the counter-offensive in northern Hama; however, the majority of the forces are comprised of military personnel from the NDF and the 11th Tank Division.

According to a military source in the Hama Governorate, the entire Syrian Army counter-offensive will be under the command of the Tiger Forces’ leader Colonel Suheil Al-Hassan, who led the same counter-attack in 2014.

Egypt opens Gaza border crossing for Muslim pilgrimage
[Ynet] Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood, says Egypt has opened its border crossing with the Gazoo Strip for three days, allowing hundreds of Moslem faithful to travel for a yearly pilgrimage.

Hesham Edwan, the director of the Rafah crossing, said Tuesday that nearly 2,500 people were expected to leave in the coming days.

Rafah is Gazoo's main gateway to the outside world. Egypt has kept Rafah largely sealed since 2013, when ties with Hamas worsened after the ouster of Egypt's elected Islamist President Mohammed Morsi. Cairo accuses the Islamic holy warrior group, which rules Gazoo, of supporting Death Eaters in the Sinai Peninsula, allegations denied by Hamas.

The Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) together with the IDF, Israel Police and the Civil Administration shut down the "al-Snabel" radio station in the West Bank overnight, security forces said on Wednesday.

"Al-snanbel" was located in Dura, near Hebron. The station was shut down due to their incitement of terror.

All the technical equipment and transmitters were confiscated. Five of the radios employees were arrested in the raid.

This is not the first time a media channel in the West Bank was shut down for incitement. In March, the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) together with the IDF and Israel Police shut down an Islamic Jihad

television station in the West Bank.

The television station, Falastin al-Yom (Paleostine Today), also used social media networks to send out its content. According to the Shin Bet, the channel "calls for the carrying out of terrorist attacks against the State of Israel and its citizens.

Separately, Tuesday night, security forces also arrested eight Paleostinians in the West Bank.

Six of the suspects were arrested for terrorist-related activities and acts of violence against civilians and security forces.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has stated repeatedly that incitement is behind the wave of terror attacks that has plagued Israel since October.

The security cabinet approved a decision in March to close Paleostinian media outlets that incite terrorism against Israelis.

Iranian ex-general killed fighting in Syria
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] A retired Iranian general has been killed while battling hard boyz as a volunteer in northern Syria, Iranian media reported on Wednesday.

Gholami went to Iraq and Syria "voluntarily" to fight ISIS, it added.

Iran does not provide precise casualty figures for those killed in action in Syria and Iraq, but Iranian media have previously reported "hundreds" of military advisers and volunteers have died in recent years.

China-Japan-Koreas
Some U.S. and UK POWs May Still Be Alive in North Korean Camps, Says UK Paper
[New American] Hundreds of American and British prisoners of war held captive by North Korea at the time of the Korean Armistice Agreement in 1953 that ended hostilities were never released and likely suffered years of inhumane treatment in POW camps. An August 23 article in the Daily Star, a British tabloid with a circulation of 424,000, speculated that some of these POWs "could still be alive at the mercy of maniacal Jong-un."

Any POWs held in 1953 would now be at least 80 years old.

The Daily Star article cited "top secret documents" that provided evidence of hundreds of soldiers, including British, were "abandoned by governments who wrote them off as missing in action."

The primary document cited in the Daily Star article was a U.S. Air Force memorandum prepared for the director of the CIA on March 16, 1954, by Air Force Chief of Staff Nathan Twining, who later became chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The memo stated, in part:

1. An unknown but apparently substantial number of U.S. military personnel captured in the course of the Korean War are still being held prisoners by the Communist Forces. These individuals will not necessarily be retained by North Korea or Manchuria, but be held elsewhere within the Soviet orbit....

4. It is therefore requested that requirements be placed on appropriate operating organizations for clandestine and covert action to locate, identify, and recover those U.S. prisoners who are still in Communist custody.

The Daily Star writer noted that there is no evidence to suggest that General Twining’s mandate to locate, identify, and recover the POWs ever happened. The report then went on to cite and display a top secret CIA "live sightings report" from 1997 that stated: "There have been numerous report of both American and British POWs in North Korea. One of the most compelling reports received over the years was a sighting reported to DoD by a Romanian in 17 Feb 1988."

The article went on to refer the book American Trophies by investigative historian Mark Souter, which was about the abandonment of American POWs. Sauter told Daily Star Online: "The evidence shows allied POWs from Korea, reportedly including some Brits, were kept by the communists after the Korean War. Reports are continuing to escape from North Korea of Caucasian POWs who are still alive."

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Allegations of Voter Fraud in St. Louis Aired in Court
[STLOUIS.CBSLOCAL] Voter fraud in St. Louis? Circuit Judge Rex Burlison on Wednesday refused to dismiss a case that could result in a whole new election for State Representative.

Bruce Franks lost his challenge to incumbent Penny Hubbard by just 90 votes, but his attorneys argue 141 absentee votes shouldn’t have counted.

KMOX’s Michael Calhoun was in the courtroom this morning.

With an overhead projection of a map on the courtroom wall, Franks’ attorney plotted pins of all the absentee votes ‐ many of them clustered around Hubbard’s house.

"This pattern is not coincidental," he declared.

Hubbard’s attorney conceded that two voters lived outside the district, but everybody else who cast a ballot was eligible to do so. Hubbard’s attorney also argued it’s a missed chance ‐ the only way Franks could contest those ballots is if he was there as they were being counted.

To vote absentee, there’s a lot of paperwork, and a voter is supposed to state a valid reason why they will be absent on election day. Franks’ attorney said paperwork for those absentee votes was missing essential information.

Hubbard’s attorney said most who voted were eligible, and they can’t be disenfranchised because of paperwork issues.

Franks’ attorney also alleged Hubbard operatives went door-to-door misleading voters, telling them they’re allowed to vote from home this year ‐ some getting offers to have their ballots filled out for them.

St. Louis Election Board chairwoman Joan Burger testified that there have been complaints in the past about the excessive quantity of absentee ballots, KMOX’s Kevin Killeen reports this afternoon.

Franks’ attorney claimed the absentee vote rate of the total was 25 percent in Hubbard’s ward ‐ the highest number in the city, he claimed.

Serraj in Sirte as IS retreats to final refuge
Tripoli, 31 August 2016:

Even as Bunyan Marsous forces battled the remnants of IS in Sirte, Faeiz Serraj, head of the Presidency Council flew into the town and visited the Ougadougou Centre, once the terrorists’ headquarters.

Serraj, along with other PC members, including his deputy Ahmed Maetig, from Misrata, spoke to senior commanders. In the past there has been resentment among BM fighters at what they considered to be the limited support in money and materiel that had been sent to them from Tripoli by Serraj’s government. If there were any recriminations today, they were not in evidence later as a smiling Serraj and his colleagues posed with fighters for photographers.

He had said that the BM forces had proved to the world that the terror menace could be eradicated by Libyan efforts. The fighters had not just been defending their country, they had been defending the world. Serraj said that the men should be proud of themselves. He added that the battle against IS was a symbol of national unity and a national project involving everyone. He blessed the dead and prayed that the wounded would have a speedy recovery.

The PC head had arrived at the Ghadabiya air base to the south of the town, which doubles as the civilian airport. Despite the potential risks of moving around while the battle for the last parts of Sirte continued, security surround Serraj and his colleagues was low and unobtrusive.

The IS terrorists have now been pushed back to their very last position which is in Sirte’s Third District. One attempted car bombing using a vehicle with steel plate welded in front of it was stopped when anti-aircraft rounds penetrated the shield. The driver lay dead in the cab while BM forces unloaded the pickup truck’s cargo of shells and mortars.

Footage has been published of another car bomb detonated hundreds of metres before it reached BM lines. The undated sequence shows a BM vehicle racing down the road while fighters look about a kilometre up the road behind it, where seconds later, there is a huge explosion. It is unclear if the suicide bomber was hit by ground fire or an air launched weapon.

Though there is an eagerness to finish off a four-month fight that has cost more than 400 largely Misratan dead and 2,500 wounded there is a reluctance to take more casualties in what is clearly the final stage of a now uneven battle. The assumption is that IS is running out of ammunition and becoming militarily weaker. Yet Sunday’s suicide car bombing in which 35 were killed and dozens injured demonstrated the danger of a desperate enemy that has little inclination to surrender.

On Wednesday, a report in Oneindia said several lakhs of rupees are smuggled in Jammu and Kashmire in gas cylinders. Money is stitched to salwar kameez donned by women to deflect the attention.

The portal said: "The directive is issued in Pakistain to move money into Jammu and Kashmire. Pakistain then activates its sympathisers across the globe to start moving money into accounts controlled by the separatists. There have been instances when the money has moved in through a Hawala channel to Delhi and then the same is collected by a point man."

In April, Jammu and Kashmire BJP had raised concern over reported flow of Hawala money from Gulf countries into the Valley.

There are several terrorist training camps in PoK of various outfits like Lashkar-e-Taiba
...the Army of the Pure, an Ahl-e-Hadith terror organization founded by Hafiz Saeed. LeT masquerades behind the Jamaat-ud-Dawa facade within Pakistain and periodically blows things up and kills people in India. Despite the fact that it is banned, always an interesting concept in Pakistain, the organization remains an blatant tool and perhaps an arm of the ISI...
, Hizbul Mijahideen, Jaish-e-Mohammad
...literally Army of Mohammad, a Pak-based Deobandi terror group founded by Maulana Masood Azhar in 2000, after he split with the Harkat-ul-Mujaheddin. In 2002 the government of Pervez Musharraf banned the group, which changed its name to Khaddam ul-Islam and continued doing what it had been doing before without missing a beat...
which are used for training and subsequently for infiltrating trained Lions of Islam into Jammu and Kashmire.

#1  Following 9/11 the Foreign Terrorist Asset Tracking Center (FTATC), located in the Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Asset Control was born. Among its tasks has been the oversight of hawalas that operated to and from the USA. It started by shutting down the hawala operation located in Minnesota that supported the Islamists. It has done a superior job in keeping a close eye on the US-based Paks and Somalis who would use this service.

Have Egypt-Hamas relations reached point of no return?
[al-Monitor] Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood,-Egypt relations are hanging by a thread amid the instability and tension between them, which some fear could result in a complete severing of ties.

The latest flare ignited Aug. 22 when Al Jazeera broadcast a photo of Hamas members who had been kidnapped a year ago by unknown gunnies in the Sinai Peninsula after passing through the Rafah crossing.

Hamas said the men -- Yasser Zanoun, Hussein al-Zabda, Abdullah Abu al-Jabin and Abdel Dayem Abu Labda -- were traveling to The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
to seek medical treatment or to pursue their studies. Egypt claimed the men were members of Hamas' military wing, Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, and were on their way to Iran for military training.

The photo shows two of the four men locked up, along with many others, at the headquarters of the Egyptian State Security Intelligence. In the photo, all the men were shown in their underwear and seemed to be in a miserable state. Some of them were emaciated.

Al Jazeera would not reveal the source of the photo, although Huffington Post Arabi cited its own anonymous source as saying the photo is a still from prison camera footage that Paleostinian leaders obtained a few months ago "through intermediaries." It appears the photo was leaked to Hamas, which eventually allowed Al Jazeera to publish it, perhaps in an effort to reignite the abduction issue because of pressure from families to get their sons released.

Al Jazeera released the photo just days after dozens of Paleostinians participated in an Aug. 18 protest in front of the Red Thingy headquarters in Gazoo to demand that Egypt reveal the fate of the four men. There has been no word since their abduction. The day before the photo was broadcast, Abu Obeida, front man for al-Qassam Brigades, announced the brigades have been following up on the case and making constant efforts to bring the men back.

Mohammad Abu Labda, a member of the Popular Assembly for Solidarity with the Paleostinians Kidnapped in Egypt, expressed that group's frustration with the lack of progress.

"A year after the abduction of our four youths while on their way to the Egyptian territories, we are still living on the hope that they are fine. We have asked Egypt to take action quickly to reveal their fate," he told Al-Monitor. Abu Labda is an uncle of one of the kidnapped men, Abdel Dayem Abu Labda.

Hamas front man and leader Salah Bardawil told Al-Monitor the young men had been kidnapped "in front of the Egyptian authorities in the security zone of the checkpoints of the Rafah crossing."

"Therefore, Egypt is held accountable, and it should reveal their detention place. But, so far, it has refused to disclose any information about their whereabouts and their fate," he added.

Hamas sources told Al-Monitor on condition of anonymity, "Egypt is putting tough conditions on Hamas in return for revealing the fate of the kidnapped men. Egypt wants Hamas to cooperate with it to control the security situation in Sinai, but Hamas has repeatedly refused this demand because it does not want to meddle with the affairs of any Arab state, mainly Egypt."

India-Pakistan
‘Rajnath took up Hafiz’s challenge’
[The Hindu] Home Minister Rajnath Singh had decided to go to Pakistain to attend the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) meeting after Lashkar-e-Taiba
...the Army of the Pure, an Ahl-e-Hadith terror organization founded by Hafiz Saeed. LeT masquerades behind the Jamaat-ud-Dawa facade within Pakistain and periodically blows things up and kills people in India. issued a threat against his visit, a senior North Block official said on Wednesday.

While the government was still debating about Mr. Singh’s participation in the SAARC Interior Minister’s conference on August 3-4 in Islamabad, Hafiz Saeed’s open threat proved to be the catalyst. "Hafiz Saeed dared the Home Minister to visit Pakistain. We couldn’t have taken this lightly. He decided to go since not participating in the conference would have sent a wrong message that India cowed down under Hafiz Saeed’s threats," said the North Block official.

Saeed message
On August 1, Hafiz Saeed posted a video message and warned the Pakistain government of dire consequences if Mr. Singh visited Islamabad.

Saeed had said in the video message that Pakistain government should not host Mr. Singh as he was responsible for the killing of Kashmiris in wake of the protests that erupted in the valley after Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist Burhan Wani was killed in an encounter on July 8.

"Even when the Home Minister reached Islamabad, on way to the hotel, we could see number of protesters on the road. The Pakistain government might not have orchestrated the protests but they were too close for comfort. Imagine, a terrorist outfit protesting with impunity in India during the visit of an international leader?" asked the official.

After returning from Pakistain, Mr. Singh had told the Parliament, "Keeping in mind the country's prestige, I did what I should have done. I have no complaints."

Hacked: Dems warned candidates against saying 'all lives matter'
[Wash Examiner] Democratic House candidates should never say "all lives matter" under any circumstances, according to a highly confidential memo sent to staffers for the party's congressional campaign arm, which was leaked this week.

"This document should not be emailed or handed to anyone outside of the building," according to the November 2015 memo. "Please only give campaign staff these best practices in meetings or over the phone."

The document, intended to advise staffers on how to deal with the Black Lives Matter movement, was released Tuesday evening as part of a trove purportedly obtained from a personal computer belonging to House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi. The information was posted on a WordPress blog operated by Guccifer 2.0, who has released a stream sensitive documents obtained from the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.

Terror Networks
Extreme Anxiety ‐ Or How to Negotiate With Hostage-Holding Terrorists
[American Spectator] An excerpt from Daniel Wattenberg's new nonfiction novella, Decatur's Wake: The Fateful Rivalry Behind the Lightning Defeat of Barbary Terror, available as a Kindle Single from Amazon.

Within five days of his arrival in the Mediterranean in June 1815 in command of a squadron of ten ships, Commodore Stephen Decatur had captured two Algerine warships, including her flagship Meshuda, and killed the commander of the enemy fleet.

With word of the American squadron rippling through the region, Decatur sensed that his chances of catching more enemy vessels out at sea were dwindling. Perhaps they would be withdrawing to the safety of their home port. "I shall proceed to the Port of Algiers, in the hope of impeding their return," he reported.

After more than a month at sea and with scurvy spreading among his own men, his squadron was in need of fresh supplies of water, fruit, and vegetables.

The time had come, he decided, to open talks.

Decatur's squadron arrived off Algiers on June 28. The city was protected from naval attack by more than 400 cannon. On June 29 Decatur's flagship Guerriere raised two flags, a white flag of truce and the flag of Sweden to summon the Swedish consul to serve as an intermediary between the Americans and the ruling dey of Algiers.

The Swedish consul, Johan Norderling, and the captain of the port of Algiers were ferried to the Guerriere. Decatur was resplendent in navy blue coat with gold trim and white trousers, the pale blue and white ribbon and gold leaf bald eagle of the Order of Cincinnati pinned to his lapel. Radiating a proconsular authority, Decatur led his guests to his great cabin, where William Shaler, the former merchant seaman and diplomat appointed to assist in peace negotiations, awaited.
Alleged quote from a WWII veteran overhearing someone say that `You can't bomb an ideology."

"The hell you can't. Because we did it. These Muslims are no different than the Imperial Japanese. They had their suicide bombers too, and we stopped them. What it takes is the resolve and will to use a level of brutality and violence that your generations can't stomach. And until you can, this shit won't stop. It took us on the beaches with bullets, clearing out caves with flame throwers, and men like LeMay burning down their cities, killing people by the tens of thousands. And then it took two atom bombs on top of it. But if that was what it took to win we were willing to do it.

"Until you are willing to do the same...well I hope you enjoy this shi*, because it ain't going to stop."

#5  My assessment is the Muslim world's desire to fight will mostly end once the West starts acting like the strong horse again instead of kow-towing to everyone as we've been doing lately. When that happens you'll see a lot more Muslim-on-muslim attacks again.

Security Forces Pursue Terrorists after Aden Suicide Attack
Aden-Security forces in Aden carried out on Tuesday evening a series of raids at hideouts of suspected terrorist cells run by security and intelligence officials that are known for their support to ousted President Ali Abdullah Saleh.

The terrorist operations are targeting the stability and security of Aden. The latest terrorist explosion struck a group of recruits in Aden, killing and injuring 170 people.

Aden intensified security procedures and deployed security forces at the entrance and exit of the temporary base of Yemen’s internationally recognized government, sources told Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper.

They said the coup militias are plotting for terrorist operations in response to the announcement of the governor of Aden, Aidaroos al-Zubaidi,that the city is safe and the legitimate government should return to it.

These strict security procedures and raids came less than 24 hours after the Aden explosion which ISIS claimed responsibility for.

Some analysts say that the presence of ISIS in Yemen is unlikely. These sources informed Asharq Al-Awsat that the last terrorist cell arrested by the security forces had received instructions from parties that support the ousted Yemeni president.

In a related matter, local medical sources told Asharq Al-Awsat that 54 people were dead and 120 were injured in the blast and some of the wounded are in critical condition. Internal and external parties widely denounced the suicide attack.

GCC Secretary General Abdul Latif Al-Zayani described the attack as a terrorist crime that contradicts with all humanitarian values and morals. Zayani guaranteed the GCC countries’ full support to Yemen in the security procedures taken to shore up stability.

Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit also denounced the operation and offered condolences to the victims’ families and the Yemeni government and people.

A new generation of jihadis awakens in Indonesia
[JAPANTIMES.CO.JP] During a May 2011 shootout, Indonesia’s counterterrorism forces killed the leader of a Death Eater group thought to be behind a series of failed bomb attempts around the city of Solo in Central Java.

The death of Team Hisbah founder Sigit Qurdowi caused the group to splinter. Some formed an anti-vice squad in the city; many others became associated with a former Solo resident called Bahrun Naim, who authorities believe is a leading Indonesian coordinator for the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group.

Now, five years later, Naim, based in the IS stronghold of Raqqa, Syria, is building an ever-more-sophisticated network of bandidos forces of Evil from his former hometown, according to police, self-proclaimed murderous Moslems and people who work with the bandidos forces of Evil in Solo.

Solo, which has a long history of schools and mosques associated with radical Islamists, is a breeding ground for Naim’s recruits, counterterrorism officials say, and many of his lieutenants in Indonesia have come from Team Hisbah.

As a result, authorities fear the risk of a major attack in Indonesia is growing.

Islamist militancy in the world’s most populous Moslem-majority nation has been contained since a crackdown on Jemaah Islamiyah -- al-Qaeda’s franchise in the region -- put hundreds of its leaders and followers behind bars in the mid-2000s.

But like al-Qaeda before it, IS is reviving a fragmented radical Islamist movement in Indonesia that has endured in various incarnations for the past century, authorities say.

Nearly $800,000 has been transferred from foreign countries to fund radical Islamist groups in Indonesia since 2014, officials from Indonesia’s financial transactions watchdog said at an international counterterrorism conference in Bali in mid-August. It wasn’t clear how much money has come from Naim, who police say is now Indonesia’s most-wanted Death Eater.

Rooters contacted a man identified as Naim last November on the Telegram app, using details provided by one of his acquaintances. In that exchange, Naim said IS had "enough men in Indonesia to carry out an action, more than enough support. Just waiting for the right trigger." Rooters could not independently verify the man’s identity or his assertions.

Amir Mahmud, a former Afghan-trained mujahedeen, started the Islamic State Supporters Forum in Solo -- a city also known as Surakarta -- in July 2014 to "accommodate the development" of a jihadi movement in Indonesia.

Around 2,000 people showed up to one of its first gatherings at the Baitul Makmur Mosque, where many backed an Islamist caliphate in the Middle East, he said.

"This is a spontaneous spiritual calling," said Mahmud, who is also an Islamic university lecturer. "Islamic State is a booming movement."

Mahmud said two of his sons left Indonesia to fight for IS in the Middle East, and one has been killed.

Indonesia does not prohibit citizens from supporting groups such as IS or fighting for them abroad. Police say they can arrest terrorism suspects only once they have committed a crime on Indonesian soil.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
UN warns against Israel-Lebanon truce breakdown
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The UN Security Council warned Tuesday that violations of the cessation of hostilities agreement between Leb and Israel could lead to a new conflict "that none of the parties or the region can afford."

The council’s warning came in a resolution adopted unanimously Tuesday extending the mandate of the UN peacekeeping force in southern Leb that monitors the cessation of hostilities until Aug. 31, 2017. It maintained the mission’s ceiling at 15,000 troops, supported by international and local civilian staff.

The council expressed concern
...meaning the brow was mildly wrinkled, the eyebrows drawn slightly together, and a thoughtful expression assumed, not that anything was actually done or indeed that any thought was actually expended...
"at the limited progress made towards the establishment of a permanent cease-fire."

It urged all parties "to make every effort to ensure that the cessation of hostilities is sustained, exercise maximum calm and restraint and refrain from any action or rhetoric that could jeopardize the cessation of hostilities or destabilize the region."

A Security Council resolution ordering a cessation of hostilities ended the 34-day war between Israel and Hezbollah turbans in southern Leb in the summer of 2006. The fighting left some 1,200 Lebanese and 160 Israelis dead, and ended in a stalemate.

The UN force, which has been in southern Leb since 1978, was expanded after the 2006 war so peacekeepers could deploy along the border with Israel to help Lebanese troops extend their authority into the south for the first time in decades.

The resolution adopted Tuesday condemned "in the strongest terms all attempts to threaten the security and stability of Leb." It underlined "the risk that violations of the cessation of hostilities could lead to a new conflict that none of the parties or the region can afford."

But while praising the efforts of Leb and Israel, the UN chief underscored "that calm should not be mistaken for progress" on implementing the 2006 resolution and others, UN front man Stephane Dujarric said. The 2006 resolution, among other things, call for all militias, including Hezbollah, to be disarmed -- a demand that has been ignored for 10 years.

"The violent and unstable regional context emphasizes the importance of tangible progress by the parties toward a permanent ceasefire, as envisaged in the resolution," as well as ensuring that the cessation of hostilities is sustained, Dujarric said.

2 Bangladeshis jailed for terror finance in Singapore
[Dhaka Tribune] A Singapore court has sentenced two Bangladeshi citizens to above two years in jail for financing terrorism.

They were detained along with six Bangladeshi nationals accused of plotting to finance terror attacks in Bangladesh and the sentence was declared on Tuesday, reports Channel News Asia.

Zaman Daulat, 34, and Mamun Leakot Ali, 30, pleaded guilty on Tuesday afternoon, after earlier denying charges brought against them under the new Terrorism (Suppression of Financing) Act (TSOFA). Zaman was sentenced to 24 months, while Mamun was sentenced to 30 months behind bars.

The duo are part of group of 8 plotting to overthrow the Bangladesh government.

They were tossed into the calaboose along with six other radicalised Bangladeshi nationals under the Internal Security Act in April for planning to topple their government back home. They previously denied the charges brought against them under the Act.

The duo, clad in purple overalls with the word "detainee" printed on the back, were brought in to the courtroom just after 3.30pm. They were surrounded by five Gurkha officers throughout the proceedings. There was heavy police presence even before proceedings commenced.

Prosecutors said Zaman, a construction worker who earned between S$1,300 to S$1,500 a month, provided S$200 to Rahman Mizanur for the purpose of facilitating a terrorist act in Bangladesh.

Mizanur was among four other Bangladeshi nationals sentenced to between 24 months and 60 months for financing terrorism in July. He was the ringleader of the group, authorities had said.

Mamun, prosecutors said, had asked a man to pass Mizanur S$500 from leftover funds collected from a previous group of 27 Bangladeshi nationals repatriated for terror links. Mizanur had called for funds for the purpose of eventually forming the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
in Bangladesh (ISB).

Mamun was deputy leader of the group, but took over as ringleader when Mizanur was tossed in the calaboose
Maw! They're comin' to get me, Maw!
on March 29. Zaman was security counsel of the group.

Prosecutors asked for 24 months for Zaman, and 30 months for Mamun given their roles in the group. While the amount of money involved was not large, it is "well-known" that in the current climate of terrorism, great violence can be perpetrated through small amounts of money, they said.

Lawyers Ramesh Tiwari and Noor Marica representing the men pro bono, argued in mitigation that both men had realised their mistakes.

Marican said Zaman, who has a wife and daughter in Bangladesh, realised how misguided he was and asked for forgiveness from the state and from Singaporeans for causing fear. Marican added that Zaman wanted to convey the message that he had realised his actions were not part of the teachings of Islam and that he had gone against his religion by promoting harm.

As for Mamun, Marican said he had cooperated fully with investigations once legal counsel had been provided.

The four men sentenced previously ‐ Rahman Mizanur, Miah Rubel, Md Jabath Kysar Haje Norul Islam Sowdagar and Sohel Hawlader Ismail Hawlader ‐ had pleaded guilty in May to one or two counts each of providing or collecting hundreds of dollars to fund terror attacks in Bangladesh.

Two more members of their group have not been charged.

Mexican president disputes Trump over border wall payment discussion
[CNN] Donald Trump flew into a nation he has constantly berated during his campaign to meet President Enrique Peña Nieto and said they discussed a wall Trump has vowed to build on the US southern border, but not his demand that Mexico pay for it -- an assertion the Mexican president later disputed.

"Who pays for the wall? We didn't discuss," Trump had said when asked by a news hound during a news conference following their meeting in Mexico City. "We did discuss the wall. We didn't discuss payment of the wall. That'll be for a later date."

But Peña Nieto later claimed the two had discussed the wall and who would pay for it -- and he had "made it clear" to Trump it wouldn't be Mexico.

"At the start of the conversation with Donald Trump, I made it clear that Mexico will not pay for the wall," Peña Nieto tweeted, after their meeting Wednesday.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard arrest another Iranian-American
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The intelligence wing of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard tossed in the slammer

an Iranian-American dual national in late July on charges of plotting against national security and working with hostile governments, the news site of the Iranian judiciary said.

Mizan Online said on Wednesday the person was arrested in the province of Golestan.

At least half a dozen other dual-national Iranians, including at least three other Iranian-Americans, have been arrested on similar charges in the past year.

News of the latest arrest came on the same day that the Iranian parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy committee met members of the intelligence wing of the Revolutionary Guards.

The meeting, titled "the infiltration project", covered subjects including the potential of dual-national Iranians to be recruited as spies, Hussein Naqavi Husseini, the committee’s front man, said, according to the website of Iranian state TV.

"In this meeting it was brought up that dual-nationals are under the serious scrutiny of the enemies’ intelligence services and they are used in the infiltration project," Husseini said.

He said that a member of Iran’s nuclear negotiating team, a dual national who he did not name, was under investigation.

The Iranian judiciary said on Sunday that a member of the nuclear team had been arrested and released on bail but did not confirm whether that individual is a dual-national.

Hamid Baidinejad, a member of the nuclear negotiating team, posted on Instagram a defence of fellow member Abdul Rasoul Durri Esfahani, who was criticized as a foreign agent by hardline websites, according to the Islamic Theocratic Republic News Agency (IRNA).

Baidinejad said in his post that Durri Esfahani has worked for Iran in international relations for more than two decades. "Insisting that he is a spy is an open insult to the intelligence and security services of Iran," Baidinejad wrote.

#1  I have a good idea, let's send the Iranian govt. a pallet load of CASH, say about $400 million ( that seems about fair ) in unmarked bills. And then we can do it again. And again.

And I heard that we can make a treaty arrangement with Iran and they will honor the committment and not make an atomic and build rockets to deliver them, and they won't quote"Welcome a war with the United States" and not attack our shipping in the Persian/Arab Gulf. And we can be multi-cultural and rainbow flag with all our Moslem friends in the religion of Peace.

Did I get that right? Are we all perfectly PC now? How about if I bend over and bow when I say it? Or appear on stage in a white pants Suit. How's that?

I have to say, Hemingway, if we could just get your medication right we could let you comment and stay on the Burg. I'm not sure whether we need to halve your meds or double them.

Now then: you posted four times today. I didn't delete them on sight, though I was sorely tempted -- it's you, after all. This one (as Shipman correctly notes) is very close to the line in obnoxiousness. If you could back away from that line more you and I (and Pappy) wouldn't have a problem.

So I want you to work on that. Consider it a twelve-step program.

#3  Or appear on stage in a white pants Suit. How's that?

I think you need to bend over with you pants around your ankles. That usually gets them excited.

Israel approves another 500 housing units in West Bank, U.S. deeply concerned
[IsraelTimes] The US expresses "deep concern" over an announcement that Israel okayed close to 500 new settlement homes and retroactively approved another 179 already existing units.

"We are deeply concerned by the government of Israel’s announcement today to advance plans for over 500 new settlement units in the West Bank," the official says.

The US has long held that settlement construction is detrimental to the chances of reaching a peace deal with the Paleostinians, a charge that Israel rejects.

#4  If it works then keep doing it. Do it every chance you get.

The building of homes WORKS. And it LASTS. Keep it up.

...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
, and more than half of those were foreigners, Interior Minister Efkan Ala said in remarks broadcast on Turkish television channels on Wednesday.

Thousands of imported muscle from countries including Turkey, Britannia, Europe and the United States have joined the Islamist hard boyz in their self-proclaimed caliphate in recent years, many of them passing through Turkey. Turkey has since launched a crackdown on the networks facilitating their passage.

Since launching the crackdown, Turkey has detained a total of 5,803 people, of which about 2,200 were foreigners, the minister said, without giving a precise period.
