Austria-Held Moroccan, Algerian Accused of Paris Attacks Link
Posted to keep track of the progression of these particular links in the chain of persons leading from the Paris attacks last November to ISIS.
[AnNahar] Austria's state prosecutor said Thursday it had charged a Moroccan and an Algerian with intent to take part in the November 13 Gay Paree attacks which left 130 people dead.

The prosecutor's office in the western city of Salzburg said the unnamed pair, aged 26 and 40, were presumed accomplices of the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. at a refugee center in Salzburg near the German border on December 18 over suspected membership of IS and have been charged with "participation in a terrorist organization, IS."

The pair are thought to have provided logistical assistance and "information on establishing contacts" to two other suspected members of the Gay Paree cell, 29-year-old Algerian Adel Haddadi and Mohamad Usman, a 35-year-old Pak.

The latter pair were arrested at the same refugee center on December 10 and extradited to La Belle France in July.

Investigators believe Haddadi and Usman traveled to the Greek island of Leros on October 3 on the same boat full of refugees with two men who took part in the November 13 attacks.

Those two, thought to be Iraqis, blew themselves up outside the Stade de La Belle France, one of a series of assaults by around 10 people in the French capital.

Haddadi and Usman were held up, detained by Greek authorities for 25 days because they had falsified Syrian passports.

Once let go, they followed the main migrant trail and eventually made it to Austria some days after the Gay Paree attacks.

Another man, Moroccan Abid Tabaouni, arrested in Belgium in July and believed linked to Haddadi and Usman -- allegedly refugee center roommates -- was extradited to Austria last month.

Turkey To Allow German MPs To Visit Base After Row, For Which Germany Will Pay About $440 Million
[AnNahar] Berlin said Thursday that Ankara will allow German politicians to visit a NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A cautionary tale of cost-benefit analysis....
airbase near Syria after refusing access amid a months-long row over Germany recognizing the World War I-era massacre of Armenians as "genocide."
Islamo-fascist governments do like their hostages.
"I welcome the fact the Turkish government has now approved the plans for a visit by the defense committee of the German parliament" to the Incirlik base in The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
, said German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier.

"With this decision by the Turkish government, we have taken a step forward," he said after months of discord since the German parliament in June angered Turkey by labeling the Ottomans' World War I-era killing of Armenians a "genocide."

The politicians will be able to visit Incirlik from October 4-6, the Bundestag said in a statement.

Germany has some 200 troops stationed at the base in southern Turkey, from where it flies Tornado surveillance missions over Syria and refueling flights as part of multinational efforts to fight the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. group.

Germany hopes to invest 58 million euros ($65 million) in mobile barracks and other facilities in Incirlik, German Defense Minister Ursula von der Leyen said Tuesday.

Other sources of discord remain, including German criticism of the Erdogan government's treatment of journalists, its Kurdish minority and of many of the alleged plotters detained in sweeping arrests after the failed coup in July.

In the latest issue to trouble relations, German broadcaster Deutsche Welle on Tuesday condemned the confiscation of the recording of an interview it had conducted with a Turkish minister as a "blatant violation" of press freedom.

Merkel's top front man Steffen Seibert insisted Wednesday that "press freedom, for us, is a high, I would even say non-negotiable" right.

As the EU's top destination for refugees last year, Germany has relied on an EU-Turkey agreement designed to stop the massive influx of people fleeing war and poverty.

EU to Give Debit Cards to Refugees in Turkey

[AnNahar] The EU announced plans Thursday to distribute debit cards to refugees in Turkey to help them meet basic needs as part of a multi-billion euro aid deal with Ankara to curb migrant flows to Europe.

Working with Turkish and UN officials, the European Union said it will launch next month the programme to distribute EU-funded debit cards that will help up to one million of Turkey's nearly three million refugees, most of them Syrian.

EU Humanitarian Aid Commissioner Christos Stylianides told a press conference in Brussels, "They will get monthly cash transfers to the card. And of course they will be able to buy what they need to put bread on the table for their families, to provide a roof for their families, to send their children to school instead of being forced to send them to work."

He said the 348-million-euro-backed ($384 million) plan is aimed at "the most vulnerable" and was more dignified than offering food hand-outs and will also boost the economy of Turkish communities where the refugees live. The humanitarian scheme, the Cypriot commissioner said, was developed with the UN World Food Programme (WFP) as well as Turkish ministers and the Turkish Red Crescent.

Car packed with gas cylinders parked in front of Marseilles synagogue
[Jpost] A week after police in Paris discovered a booby-trapped car near a tourist attraction, a suspect vehicle with gas cylinders was found outside a Jewish community center in the southern city of Marseille.

The parked car found Saturday morning outside the Bar Yohaye Jewish Community Center and synagogue in Marseille’s 4th Arrondissement east of the Saint-Charles railways station had no trigger mechanism to cause an explosion

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Iran May Have Received as Much as $33.6 Billion in Cash, Gold Payments From U.S.
[FREEBEACON] Iran may have received an additional $33.6 billion in secret cash and gold payments facilitated by the B.O. regime between 2014 and 2016, according to testimony provided before Congress by an expert on last summer’s nuclear agreement with Iran.

Between January 2014 and July 2015, when the B.O. regime was hammering out the final details of the nuclear accord, Iran was paid $700 million every month from funds that had previously been frozen by U.S. sanctions.

A total of $11.9 billion was ultimately paid to Iran, but the details surrounding these payments remain shrouded in mystery, according to Mark Dubowitz, executive director at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies.

In total, "Iran may have received as much as $33.6 billion in cash or in gold and other precious metals," Dubowitz disclosed.

Dr. Keith Ablow: Hillary Clinton -- Inside the mind of a shameless liar (Video)
[FOX] Gov. Pence speaks at Value Voter Summit in Washington, D.C. Recently, it has been reported that Hillary Clinton is using psychologists to prepare for her debates with Donald Trump. Apparently, some within the Clinton campaign believed that Mr. Trump seemed ill-at-ease when, during a Republican presidential primary debate, he addressed Senator Marco Rubio’s contention that Trump’s small hands likely meant his private parts were also small.

In fact, Trump seemed completely comfortable addressing that intensely personal attack, simply saying that it wasn’t true. His willingness and ability to dispense with the matter in such a straightforward way shouldn’t give the Clinton campaign confidence that Trump can be rocked with psychological missives; it should terrify them. Because when a man can speak directly, in front of cameras and the entire nation, even about those matters which are usually unspeakable, he isn’t going to run away from much of anything.

Donald Trump wears his psyche on his sleeve.

Hillary Clinton is the one whose psychological make up would seem to leave her vulnerable. Her penchant for lying is a problem, but the really big problem is that she seems unable to determine when her lies are registering with audiences as clearly untrue. At the core, people who lie transparently do so because they lack empathy--the ability to intuit and vicariously experience what others are thinking and feeling. Locked behind walls of narcissism or arrogance or imperiousness, consumed with the pursuit of power, they can’t tell convincing lies because they can’t truly resonate with how their words and mannerisms are being received.

Hill Republicans: Clinton investigations won't stop if she wins
[Politico] Top GOP lawmakers on both sides of the Capitol are vowing that their investigations of Hillary Clinton will continue even if she wins the White House in November.

Indeed, the FBI wrapped up its investigation of Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server this summer, but congressional Republicans say they’re just getting started.

House Oversight Chairman Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) wants answers on the deletion of Clinton emails he says may constitute "destruction of evidence" -- and he's willing to use subpoenas to get them. House Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) is working on a bill to pull the security clearance of anyone who broke rules governing confidential information, a jab aimed squarely at Clinton and her top aides.

And there’s percolating interest among congressional Republicans in sniffing out any connections between the Clinton Foundation and the State Department -- a potential new Clinton probe inspired by reports showing foundation donors securing access to Clinton as secretary of state. CNN reported in August that FBI officials wanted to probe the Foundation connection for conflicts of interest but was slapped down by Justice officials.

Republicans have also signaled interest in diving deeper into questions of whether Clinton or her aides perjured themselves on the email matter.

"Hillary Clinton created this problem; I’m trying to untie this big tangled web," Chaffetz (R-Utah) said in an interview this week. "I’d be derelict in my chairmanship if I didn’t pursue this with all the vigor I have."

Qaeda chief threatens 'thousands' of 9/11 attacks
[AlAhram] al-Qaeda chief Ayman al-Zawahiri
... Formerly second in command of al-Qaeda, now the head cheese, occasionally described as the real brains of the outfit. Formerly the Mister Big of Egyptian Islamic Jihad. Bumped off Abdullah Azzam with a car boom in the course of one of their little disputes. Is thought to have composed bin Laden's fatwa entitled World Islamic Front Against Jews and Crusaders. Currently residing in the North Wazoo area assuming he's not dead like Mullah Omar. He lost major face when he ordered the nascent Islamic State to cease and desist and merge with the orthodx al-Qaeda spring, al-Nusra...
threatened the US that the September 11, 2001 attacks will be repeated "thousands of times", in a video marking the 15th anniversary of the deadly assault.

Addressing the United States in a video message posted Thursday on YouTube, Zawahiri blamed 9/11 on "your crimes against us".

He said that if these continue, 9/11 "will be repeated thousands of times".

In the video, Zawahiri cited Washington's policies towards Arab and Moslem countries, its "occupation" of lands in their countries, and support for their "criminal and corrupt" governments.

His threats come as American officials say the United States has become hardened against such well-developed plots as 9/11 but remains vulnerable to small and home-grown attacks.

Zawahiri also urged jihadists to unite and urged African Americans to convert to Islam to "save" them from US laws which he said are controlled by "the white majority".

Britain
ISIS connection for man on trial for murdering Bangladeshi imam in February?
[DailyMail] o Mohammed Hussain Syeedy, 21, is accused of murdering Jalal Uddin

o Mr Uddin, a respected imam, was bludgeoned to death in February

o Former Manchester United steward Syeedy, of Rochdale, denies murder

A man accused of murdering an imam was in Syria when aid worker Alan Henning was kidnapped by Islamic State extremists but denied that he had a 'deep interest' in the terror group at the time.

Former Manchester United steward Mohammed Hussain Syeedy, 21, is on trial accused of bludgeoning Jalal Uddin to death after stalking him in his car.
Archived articles about this story can be read here.
Mr Uddin, 71, was battered to death in February this year in a children's park as he walked home after prayers at his mosque in Rochdale, Lancashire.

The prosecution claims Syeedy helped his friend, Mohammed Kadir, 24, kill Mr Uddin because they believed he was practising 'black magic'.

After Syeedy's arrest, police allegedly found a large volume of ISIS-related material on his phone and other devices. Among these were photographs of Syeedy and his associates raising index figure salutes, which are said to signify an allegiance to ISIS, it is claimed.

Manchester Crown Court heard how Syeedy travelled in a Human Aid convoy to Syria in December 2013, shortly after his elder brother left with Mr Henning, 47, on a similar mission. Syeedy said his convoy stayed near the border with Turkey for 'two or three days

Syeedy has previously told the court that he was 'disgusted' by the murder and said Mr Henning, a father of two, had been a 'really close' friend of his brother.

Syeedy and Kadir allegedly developed a hatred of Mr Uddin because he used a form of healing involving amulets, known as taweez, which are said to bring good fortune. The jury has heard ISIS disapproves of the practice and believes those who regularly engage in it should be killed.

The prosecution says Syeedy had been radicalised and 'perhaps' it happened when he travelled on the Syria convoy.

Kadir, of Oldham, boarded a flight three days later from Manchester to Copenhagen in Denmark followed by a connecting flight to Istanbul. His whereabouts are unknown although it is thought he could have travelled to Syria.

Clinton Camp Demands HUGE CHANGE For Upcoming Presidential Debate
[Daily Caller] Media Matters founder David Brock wrote a letter to the Commission on Presidential Debates Friday, demanding the "non-partisan" organization remove Fox News' Chris Wallace as moderator of the third and final presidential debate.

Brock, one of Hillary Clinton's highest-profile supporters, wrote to Co-Chairmen Frank Fahrenkopf and Michael McCurry that it is inappropriate for "Roger Ailes, who resigned from Fox News in July, [to] simultaneously [provide] advice to Donald Trump while serving as a paid adviser to Fox News chief Rupert Murdoch, debate moderator Chris Wallace's boss."

Brock also expressed his concern over "Chris Wallace’s explicit pronouncement that he doesn’t intend to press the candidates to be truthful during the debate he moderates."

"I am disappointed that an organization that prides itself on being non-partisan would make such a selection," he continued. "I would respectfully ask that you reconsider your selection of Chris Wallace -- or any current Fox News employee -- as a presidential debate moderator until Donald Trump and Rupert Murdoch cut ties with Roger Ailes."

Obama administration steps in after judge rejects legal effort to stop oil pipeline
[Hot Air] An effort to halt construction of an oil pipeline by the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe was rejected by a U.S. District Judge Friday. From the NY Times:

The ruling by Judge James E. Boasberg in Washington rejected efforts by the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe to halt construction of the Dakota Access pipeline. A lawyer for the tribe says the ruling will be appealed.

Although the $3.7 billion pipeline would not cross the reservation on its 1,170-mile path across four states, it would skirt the reservation’s northern boundary and run through what tribal officials say are ancestral lands. They say the pipeline would disrupt or destroy cultural and burial sites and could contaminate their water if it breaks or leaks as it crosses under a dammed section of the Missouri River.

However, immediately after the tribe lost in court, the Obama administration stepped in and halted construction anyway. From the Atlantic:

Mere minutes after a federal judge declined the Tribe’s request for an injunction to stop construction on the pipeline, the Obama administration made a surprise announcement that it would not permit the pipeline’s construction for the time being.

"Construction of the pipeline on Army Corps land bordering or under Lake Oahe will not go forward at this time," said a joint statement from the Department of Justice, the Department of the Interior, and the U.S. Army. "We request that the pipeline company voluntarily pause all construction activity within 20 miles east or west of Lake Oahe."...

While the government’s block is temporary, the pipeline’s future now looks much more uncertain than it did hours ago. Most of the pipeline will be built on private land owned by Energy Transfer Partners, but it still needs Army Corps approval to cross federal waterways. Given the outcry from climate activists, the Obama administration may be more willing to cancel the pipeline’s federal permits, as it did with the Keystone XL pipeline last year.

The effort to halt construction has already attracted the attention of celebrity environmentalists, including Leonardo DiCaprio and most of the Justice League:

It said the strike targeted a meeting of the group's leaders but did not say who carried out the attack or when it was.

An Islamist source told the Rooters news agency the bully boyz were in a secret hideout in the village of Kafr Naha.

There were unconfirmed reports that several other senior figures were either injured or killed.

The group has been playing an instrumental role in ongoing battles against the Syrian army troops and Iranian backed Shi'ite militias.

Minnesota parents sue after transgender student twerks in girls’ locker room
[WASHINGTONTIMES] Nearly a dozen Minnesota families are suing their school district for failing to take action after their daughters were exposed to a transgender male student allegedly twerking and engaging in other sexual behavior in the girls’ locker room.
A "transgender male student" = a boy who dresses up like a girl.
The lawsuit concerns Minnesota’s Virginia Public Schools, which changed its restroom and locker room policy in response to the B.O. regime order in May compelling public schools nationwide to regulate intimate sex-segregated facilities on the basis of gender identity.

The transgender student, only identified as "Student X" in the complaint, would allegedly dance to lewd music while in the locker room, including by "twerking, grinding, and lifting up his skirt to reveal his underwear" in front of high school girls.

He is also accused of following two female students seeking privacy in a secondary locker room and disrobing in front of them.

Student X also allegedly questioned one female student about her bra size and then asked her to "trade body parts" with him.

The lawsuit, filed in federal court on Wednesday by Alliance Defending Freedom attorneys, also names the U.S. Departments of Education and Justice as defendants, citing the B.O. regime’s threat to withhold federal education funding from schools that do not integrate intimate facilities on the basis of gender identity.

Not going to church has nothing to do with any belief in God or Christian values. The major churches have nothing to do with God or Christian values anymore (see the Pope and the CoE).

#5  AlanC,

The Bible is 66 books written over 1500 years, by God, through His chosen Prophets. Each book's focus isvremarkably similar, because the true author is actually one entity. What will sell you if you ever read these books are two things. Descriptions of future events when the book was written and then through study of the history of man realizing what His prophets wrote actually occurred as written in detail.

Most of Gods predictions have all been fulfilled. You have very little time left to find out the final ones.

Read it while there is a little time left.

Signed, A Believer.

Turks: efforts to set up Kurd-free safe zone in Syria will continue
Turkey’s efforts to create a safe zone in Syria will continue until the Turkish border is safe and all threats to the country have been removed, Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım said on Sept. 9, Reuters reported.

Turkey launched a full-scale offensive into northern Syria last month in an effort to sweep Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) militants from its borders. The Turkish military is backing Syrian rebel groups against the ISIL, while also targeting the Syrian Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG), the armed winged of the Syrian Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD).

“Our efforts to set up a safe zone in Syria will continue until the Turkish border’s safety is maintained and threats against Turkey are eliminated,” Yıldırım told journalists in Ankara.

He also added that there was “unconfirmed information” that a Turkish tank had been struck in Syria.

NATO supports Turkey’s right to defense in Syria

Turkey is within its rights in defending itself by staging an incursion in Syria, according to NATO’s secretary-general, who is staging a visit to Ankara.

“Turkey is the NATO ally most affected by the turmoil and violence in Syria and in Iraq. Turkey has suffered many terrorist attacks. Turkey has the right to defend itself, as all nations have,” Jens Stoltenberg told the Hürriyet Daily News in an interview on Sept. 9.

“I welcome Turkish efforts to fight ISIL. This is important for Turkey but this is important also for all NATO allies,” he said.

Stoltenberg met President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım and Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, as well as opposition parties, in his first trip to the Turkish capital since July 15.

US does ICBM test launch from Vandenberg
The United States Air Force test-launched an intercontinental ballistic missile on Monday, the same day North Korea fired three midrange missiles into the Sea of Japan.

The test of the unarmed Minuteman III ICBM at Vandenberg Air Force Base, Calif., comes at a time when President Obama has called for extended deterrence measures and reaffirmed U.S. commitment to the defense of regional Asian allies.

The missile's re-entry vehicle contained a telemetry package for operational testing and traveled about 4,200 miles to the Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands, according to the U.S. Air Force.

Col. Craig Ramsey, the 576th Flight Test Squadron commander, said the launch followed an "enormous reconfiguration of range assets that took six months to complete."

The launch was the first of its kind since late February, NBC affiliate KSBY-TV reported.

There were five launches in January and February before scheduled downtime, which was for the purpose of relocating launch equipment, according to the television network.

The Minuteman launch also came a few hours after the firing of North Korea missiles – a possible indication the U.S. test was conducted as a warning to Pyongyang's continued provocations, according to Yonhap news agency.

The United States has consistently warned of more defense measures against Pyongyang if the country continued to pursue weapons tests.

"North Korea needs to know that provocations will only invite more pressure and further deepen its isolation," U.S. President Barack Obama said Tuesday.

70,000 refugees at Dadaab willing to return to Somalia
About 70,000 Somalia refugees residing in Kenya’s Dadaab refugee camp are willing to return to their home country by the end of the year, the UN refugee agency revealed on Thursday.

UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Kenya Assistant Representative in Charge of Protection Catherine Hamon Sharpe said that this figure represents approximately 25 percent of Somalia refugees in Kenya.

“We therefore think that the deadline given by the Kenya government to close the Dabaab camp in Nov. is not realistic if the refugees are to be repatriated voluntarily in a dignified and humane manner,” Sharpe said during a panel discussion on refugee issues in Nairobi.
"They're threatening our phony-baloney jobs here! And I can't ship the Land Cruiser back home to Old Blighty!"
Sharpe said that the UNHCR has urged the Kenyan government to reconsider its decision to close the Dadaab camp.

“We are therefore engaging the Kenyan authorities so that they extend the voluntary repatriation agreement that expires in November,” she added.

The UN official said that currently 2,000 Somali refugees at the Dabaab transition camp have signed for voluntary repatriations.

“However, they can’t leave the camp because the Jubaland (in southern Somalia) officials have refused to receive them,” she said.

The Kenyan government decided to shut down the world’s largest refugee camp by the end of this year, citing national security interests.
Kenyans are tired of the Somali refugees, who have been acting like Palestinians...

HRW warns Houthi landmines are killing civilians
Nothing gets past Human Rights Watch
[Arabiya] Landmines used by forces loyal to the Houthi movement in Yemen's southwestern city of Taiz have caused civilian deaths and fatal injuries, a Human Rights Watch report said on Thursday, releasing new evidence of the militias’ use of the banned antipersonnel mines.

At least 11 civilians, including seven children, were killed by an antivehicle mine in al-Waziyah neighborhood - a western part of Taiz last month - a local activist told Human Rights Watch.

Soddy Coalition Destroys Houthi Military Equipment
Aircraft belonging to the Saudi led Arab coalition have intensified air raids concentrating on sites, centres and reinforcements belonging to Houthi militias and those loyal to the ousted president Saleh in scattered areas of Taiz. Many rebels were killed in the raids and equipment was damaged.

Eye witnesses told Asharq Al-Awsat that coalition aircraft targeted sites belonging to rebel militias in Mount Awman in the Al-Habwan area, east of the city. Flames and smoke could be seen rising from the sites that were targeted and this continued for hours after military equipment, including tanks and anti-aircraft warfare were destroyed. Other raids targeted militia sites in Sitteen Street.

In addition to this, the national army and Popular Resistance foiled a major offensive launched by Houthi militias and forces loyal to the deposed president Saleh on various eastern, northern and western fronts of fighting.

Sources on the ground from the Popular Resistance told Asharq Al-Awsat that “The Popular Resistance and the national army were able to ward off the attack carried out by the rebel militias. The attack was accompanied by heavy shelling on army positions with various types of weapons, and we were able to progress to militias’ sites…This resulted in some rebels being killed and others getting injured. Two soldiers from the army were killed and three others were injured.”

Three soldiers killed in ISIL attack on Turkish tank in Syria
Three soldiers were killed and one was injured on Sept. 9 when Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) militants hit a Turkish tank in Syria, the Turkish Armed Forces have announced.

The military said Turkish artillery units fired 41 shots at 15 ISIL targets, and four buildings belonging to the jihadist group were also destroyed.

The attack marks the seventh Turkish casualty so far in the Euphrates Shield operation, on the 17th day of the operation.

On Aug. 27, one soldier was killed and three were injured when the Syrian Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) attacked Turkish tanks.

Four Turkish soldiers were injured on Aug. 30 when a rocket fired from the west of Syria’s Jarablus region hit a tank in northern Syria.

Late on Sept. 6, three soldiers were killed and four others were wounded in another ISIL attack on two tanks.

Notre Dame terror arrest footage revealed: One member of all-female ISIS cell which planned to blow up French train station was engaged to jihadist who slit priest's throat AND to a cop-killing Islamist
[DailyMail] The female ISIS recruiter who planned to blow up a French train station was engaged to a jihadist who beheaded a Catholic priest and the terrorist who murdered a police couple.

French police believe one of the gang, known only as Sarah H., 23, was due to marry Larossi Aballa, 25, when he murdered a policeman and his officer wife outside Gay Paree in June before he was himself rubbed out.

Sarah H. was then engaged to Adel Kermich, 19, who murdered a Catholic priest in Normandy in July, before he and an accomplice were bumped off.

Her current fiance was jugged
Book 'im, Mahmoud!
on Thursday, Gay Paree prosecutor Francois Molins said. He was known to intelligence services for links to radical Islam, sources said. His brother is in jug over suspected links to Larossi Abballa, a jihadist who killed a police officer and his girlfriend in a Gay Paree suburb in June, sources said.

Ines Madani, 19, was shot and maimed as police raided her apartment in Boussy-Saint-Antoine, south of the French capital.

Belgian TV station RTBF reported that Madani was the prime suspect within the all-female terror cell.
"She was just a kid, Joe, but she was the smartest of the bunch."
'According to our information, Ines Madani had contacts with Belgian bandidos Death Eaters from the Charleroi region.';

'The names of the bandidos Death Eaters appeared on a list from (Belgium's national crisis centre) OCAM as potential candidates departing for Syria,' the station said. 'Some of them have since been arrested.'

'There is no question here (in Belgium) of a planned attack but Ines Madani seemed to fullfil a role of recruiter and controller for these departures,' it said.

Phone tapping by the French authorities had also revealed that the female jihadi cell - the first of its kind in La Belle France - were planning to attack the Gare du Lyon, one of the busiest rail stations in Europe, along with Boussy-Saint-Antoine station. They also wanted to target coppers.

The Peugeot 607 belonged to Ines Madani's father, and sources close to the case said Ines Madani and her accomplices, aged 23 and 39, had tried to set it on fire, before fleeing.

Ines Madani was carrying a 'last testament' letter in which she swore allegiance to ISIS and pledged to avenge the death of Abu Muhammad al-Adnani, the 'ISIS front man' killed by a US drone last month.
The Times of Israel adds:
An all-woman alleged terror cell arrested in Gay Paree over a plot for detonate gas canisters near Notre Dame Cathedral was guided from Syria by the Islamic State

Google takes on ISIS
[Ynet] A Google tech incubator that aims to counter violent extremism worldwide has developed technology that could redirect users who type pro-Islamic State phrases into search engines to anti-extremist messages.

a hangover is the wrath of grapes...
the world’s most prominent internet search engine is now stepping up to fight back.

A Google-run technology incubator named Jigsaw, which aims to combat security threats globally and fight against extremism, has developed technology that would allow the redirection of users to anti-extremist messages if they search for pro-ISIS terms.

A trial run of the new Jigsaw innovation, which took place over eight weeks in the January-March 2016 period, reached over 320,000 people who searched for one or more word - out of a list of about 1,000 ‐ which is considered to be ISIS-connected. These include, but are not limited to, names of structures in ISIS-controlled territory and slogans related to the Islamic state. Users who were flagged by the system were shown search results, as well as ads that included anti-terrorism links and videos. The project didn’t include the uploading of new anti-ISIS messages to the web, but instead used existing content. So far, the Jigsaw project has included several dozen ads in English and Arabic.

Jigsaw’s initiative isn’t the first of its kind. The US State Department promoted a series of anti Islamic-extremism web videos on popular video site YouTube in 2013 called Think Again Turn Away; social network Twitter has suspended 235,000 accounts suspected of promoting turban content in the past six months. These steps have been encouraged by the White House, which came out in January and called for large internet companies such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Dropbox, Microsoft, Twitter, and YouTube to do more in order to fight the spreading of turban terrorist organization content on social media.

Iraq expels IS group families from local communities
[AlAhram] Iraqi authorities are expelling the families of suspected Islamic State

members from their homes as the jihadist group loses ground, raising fears of communal violence if people seek to settle old scores.

Relatives of more than 200 Death Eaters are being forced to leave Dhuluiya, 70 km (40 miles) north of Baghdad, and Hit, 130 km to the west, government and security officials said.

Iraqi forces backed by a U.S.-led coalition have recaptured more than half the territory seized in 2014 by Islamic State, also known as ISIS and ISIS, and are gearing up for an offensive on the jihadists' de facto capital of djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
later this year.

But the expulsions raise the spectre that the ultra-hardline group's anticipated demise could trigger yet more conflict, if Iraqis seek to root out sympathizers and pursue retribution outside the law for Islamic State crimes they say include massacre, rape and enslavement.

Government forces and allied Shi'ite Moslem militias kicked Islamic State out of Dhuluiya nearly two years ago, but late last month police forced relatives of suspected bully boys, identified through intelligence and neighbours' testimonies, to leave 52 houses in the town, a local police officer said.

"After the liberation of Dhuluiya, tensions started to surface among the residents, especially people who lost relatives because of ISIS's extreme rules," said tribal leader Sheikh Ibrahim al-Jabouri. "We fear a fissure in society. Vengeance against ISIS families will only lead to more death."

Last week, a Rooters photographer observed members of the Samarra Operations Command, which handles security in Salahuddin province where Dhuluiya is located, marking the walls of shuttered houses with graffiti that said "Locked down by order of the Samarra Operations Command," and "There is no place for you among us".

Most of the families have moved in with relatives in nearby districts, said Jasim al-Jibarra, head of Salahuddin provincial council's security committee. Others may have slipped into neighbouring Kirkuk province.

Collective Punishment
An official at Iraq's Ministry of Migration and Displacement condemned forced expulsions as "oppressive" but could not confirm they were happening.

"The Iraqi constitution guarantees the right to freedom of living and settlement for each and every citizen," he said, declining to be named.

The United Nations
...where theory meets practice and practice loses...
warned that the expulsions, which it said are becoming widespread, endanger civilians' lives and undermine efforts at reconciling the country's minority Sunnis and Shi'ite majority.

"People who may have nothing to do with ISIS are effectively being punished for what a family member may or may not have done," said La Belle Francesco Motta, representative of the U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights in Iraq.

"There are no legal standards applied to the family member who's supposed to be suspected or accused of participating or supporting ISIS and ... the family members are being punished collectively."

In the western city of Hit, 170 families have been given until the Eid al-Adha holiday, which begins on Sept. 12, to leave, a police official and an international aid worker told Rooters.

Hit, which spent a year and a half under the holy warriors' control, was retaken in April by Iraqi forces who quickly returned most residents to their homes.

Mayor Muhannad Zbar said he was willing to empty the city of half its population if they were shown to have links with Islamic State.

With neighbouring districts refusing to host them, the exiles may have no choice but to return to territory controlled by the jihadists.

Afghanistan
8 die in mortar attack in northern Afghanistan
At least 8 people were killed and 14 others were wounded in a rocket attack in northern Baghlan province of Afghanistan, local officials said Friday.

The incident took place late on Thursday afternoon in the new city of Baghlan Markazi district after a mortar round landed in the area.

Provincial public health officials confirmed 8 civilians including a woman and two children were among those killed.

The officials further added that a number of injured civilians are in critical condition amid fears that the death toll could rise.

No group including the Taliban militants has so far claimed responsibility behind the incident.

In a statement released by Taliban earlier today, the group said they are not involved in the attack.

Baghlan is among the relatively volatile provinces in northern Afghanistan where Taliban insugents are actively operating in its various districts and often carry out insurgency activities.

The group has staged numerous attacks in different parts of Baghlan province during the recent months with an aim to capture key districts as it struggles to expand insurgency in northern provinces of the country.

British-Iranian accused of Iran sedition hostage jailed for 5 years: husband
[AlAhram] A British-Iranian woman accused of taking part in anti-regime protests in 2009 has been sentenced to five years in prison, her husband said Friday, but added that the specific charges had not been revealed.
That's because she is a hostage. Why do dual passport holders keep doing this?
Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe, who works for the Thomson Rooters Foundation and was jugged
Don't shoot, coppers! I'm comin' out!
on April 3, called her husband Richard on Tuesday to inform him of her sentence, he said in a statement.

"Nazanin has been sentenced for five years' imprisonment. The charges justifying this sentence remain secret," Richard Ratcliffe said.

He said the sentence was handed down on Tuesday, the day after Britannia and Iran announced they were appointing new ambassadors to each other's countries as part of an easing of strained diplomatic ties following the Iran nuclear accord last year.

Britannia's Foreign Office said it was "deeply concerned" by the reports and offered to help bring the couple's daughter back to Britannia.

Thomson Rooters Foundation CEO Monique Villa said she was "outraged" by the sentence and stressed that her organization had no involvement in Iran.

"This is a very serious condemnation that comes without any charges or evidence being made public... I am convinced of her innocence," she wrote.

The foundation is a charity organization coordinating training programmes for journalists around the world.

"It remains extraordinary that Nazanin's interrogators clarify the sentence but not the crime -- because there is none," Ratcliffe said, adding that the case was "shrouded in shadows and internal politics".

"Nazanin's detention and charges have always felt like she and Gabriella are being held as a political bargaining chip for internal and international politics," he said, referring to their daughter.

Britannia's foreign ministry said Prime Minister Theresa May and Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson had both raised the case with their counterparts in Iran.

"We continue to press the Iranians for consular access and for due process to be followed," it said.

Iran does not recognise dual citizenship.

Iran's elite Revolutionary Guards earlier accused Zaghari-Ratcliffe of having taken part in the "sedition movement" of widespread protests that followed the 2009 re-election of former hardline president Mahmoud Short Round Ahmadinejad. According to a Guards statement in June, Zaghari-Ratcliffe was "identified and arrested after massive intelligence operations" as one of "the heads of foreign-linked hostile networks".

At a rally outside the Iranian embassy in London in June, Ratcliffe told AFP his wife was arrested as she prepared to return to Britannia with Gabriella after visiting family in Iran.

Gabriella was born in Britannia and has a British passport, which was confiscated by the Iranian authorities, leaving her stranded with her grandparents in Iran, he said.

Iran and Britannia on Monday appointed new ambassadors for the first time since a mob ransacked the British embassy in Tehran in 2011, as part of a series of measures to boost relations after last year's nuclear deal.

British Airways also this month became the first British airline in four years to fly directly to Iran following the lifting of some sanctions after the deal between Iran and Britannia, China, La Belle France, Germany, Russia and the United States.

Iran maintains a deep historical distrust of Britannia, dating back to the early 20th century when London meddled frequently in Iranian politics in order to secure cheap access to oil for the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company, which later became BP. Britannia played a key role in prodding the Central Intelligence Agency into carrying out a coup in 1953, toppling the hugely popular prime minister Mohammad Mosaddegh who had called for Iran's oil to be nationalised.

#1  pallette of Euros, say about 0.5 billion, will take care of this.

Am I just that cynical that I can imagine a scenario where dual passport holders actually are complicit in such shakedowns?

This Week in Guns, September 10th, 2016

Rantburg.com

It is hard to convince anyone, even among those who say they are 2nd Amendment supporters, that once a political entity embarks down the road of constricting gun rights the appetite will not be satiated short of gun confiscation itself.

Only two years ago, Washington state residents staggered to the polls to impose universal background checks on the minority of its citizens who are gun owners. The law that passed was so restrictive that even casual exchanges of firearms would be subject to background checks. The law is so bad that county sheriffs in the state have said they will not enforce it.

Now Washington state's attorney general is proposing to ban assault weapons and "high capacity" magazines. The proposed law comes after another of Washington state's customers gunned down three teenagers in Mukilteo last July 30th.

The big problem for those who love Liberty is that as sure as the sun rises, someone will say that a mentally ill individual should never have gotten his hands on a gun. Remember the universal background check, the new law that Washington state stoners passed just two years ago? It was violated by the shooter, who, even if he was adjudged to be mentally ill by a competent court, would have executed the shooting anyway.

All the above ignores the proper role of the state in law. It is not to prevent, yet we continually get proposals for laws that attempt, futilely, to do just that.

And yet, the state of Washington in its profound folly will pass a law that will be as ignored as the universal background check, and a state full of people walking around in a marijuana induced fog will continue to play the old smokers' game of "Wouldn't it be weird if".

All is not lost. In the wake of the mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary school and the draconian gun laws subsequently passed, Mossberg, the shotgun manufacturer left Connecticut and took its jobs to Texas, where a friendlier clime for gun manufacturers exists, to be sure. You should know that at this point, despite widespread resistance to registration the state of Connecticut has yet to move against the 82 percent of AR owners who have refused to register their weapons. Another mighty whiff by a fascist state.

For those of you who disagree with the 2nd Amendment, there's a app for that.

Feds Spend Millions Fighting FOIA Lawsuits, GAO Finds
[DAILYCALLER] Federal agencies spend millions of tax dollars opposing Americans’ successful lawsuits seeking public records under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), but can’t say exactly how much, according to a new Government Accountability Office (GAO) report.

Department of Justice (DOJ) officials responsible for tracking agencies’ FOIA compliance don’t know how much agencies spent fighting 112 cases from 2009 to 2014 in which the plaintiff "substantially" prevailed, according to GAO. Of the 57 lawsuits agencies could track, agencies spent $1.8 million.

But that’s just a drop in the bucket compared to the $144 million agencies estimated they spent fighting 3,350 FOIA lawsuits from 2009 to 2014, according to GAO.

Current DOJ policy doesn’t require department officials to track spending by agencies on specific lawsuits, or whether the plaintiff or agency prevailed, leaving gaps in federal records about FOIA lawsuits, according to GAO.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Hamas spends $100 million a year on military infrastructure
[IsraelTimes] $40 million of the annual total goes to terror group’s tunnel digging work, which employs 1,500 Paleostinians

As the residents of the Gazoo Strip endure daily hardships due to the dire economic situation in the enclave, their Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood, leaders spend over $100 million a year on the group’s military wing, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, according to estimates by both Israeli and Paleostinian sources. Spending on digging tunnels accounts for some $40 million of that annual sum.

By way of comparison, the budget of the last Hamas government, which dissolved in April 2014, was $530 million. In other words, some 20 percent of the budget was funneled toward arming the group with advanced weapons, digging tunnels, training, and salaries for Hamas fighters.

Some 1,500 Hamas members from various brigades are currently employed in tunnel digging. The average salary for an excavator is $250-$400 a month -- relatively high for the Strip, where unemployment is rampant. The diggers also receive bonuses and incentives for meeting deadlines set by the Hamas military leadership. Veteran diggers receive higher salaries than others.

The military wing of Hamas continues to be helmed by the Muhammed Deif, who serves as a chief of staff, while Yahya Sinwar serves as a defense minister and liaison with the political wing. Under them, Marwan Issa, Deif’s aide de camp, deals with building up the group’s military capabilities. Reporting to Issa are various commanders of different brigades and areas, such as defense industries and others.

The military wing has continued to develop its capabilities over the past two years in anticipation of another possible war with Israel. Among other things, Hamas has been investing in weapons that could bypass the Iron Dome anti-missile system and in more precise rockets than those it possessed in the summer of 2014, when it fought a 50-day war with Israel.

As part of this effort, Hamas, an Islamist terror group avowedly committed to destroying Israel, has allocated tremendous resources to smuggling materials into the Strip that can be used for building weapons, mostly from Israel, but also by sea or through smuggling tunnels from the Sinai Peninsula.

Last week, the Egyptian military exposed one such 2.5-kilometer-long tunnel. At the Gazoo border with Egypt, Hamas uses a large workforce along with bulldozers and tractors to dig tunnels, with work occasionally taking place right under the noses of Egyptian soldiers.

In the smuggling efforts from Sinai to Gazoo, bigwigs from the Sinai affiliate of the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
also play a role, working closely with Hamas military leaders in the southern Strip. The man in charge of coordination between IS and Hamas is Abd al-Rahman Barhame, who is in Gazoo as a guest of Hamas’s military wing.

Other Islamic State officials responsible for coordination with Hamas also reside in the coastal enclave, preserving the ties between the two terror groups despite Egypt’s objections, largely without informing the Hamas politicianship of these activities.

World Vision fires 120 in Gaza as Israel freezes funds over Hamas accusations

[IsraelTimes] Charity says it can no longer pay salaries; director in Strip is charged with siphoning millions to terror group

The charity has headquarters in Washington State and the United Kingdom, and works in nearly 100 countries. With a budget of approximately $2.6 billion and nearly 50,000 employees, it is one of the largest US-based relief organizations and has operated in Israel, the West Bank and Gaza since the 1970s.

The governments of Britain, Germany and Australia suspended their donations to the charity over the allegations by Israel.

Shaboobs whack 4 KDF soldiers near Mandera
Al Shabaab has claimed responsibility for double roadside explosions targeted Kenyan defense forces near Kenya’s northeastern town of Mandera on Friday.
This is perhaps why the Kenyans are getting mighty tired of the Somalis...
Pro-al shabaab media outlets, citing unnamed commander reported that at least 4 Kenyan army soldiers died in the IED blasts on the KDF military convoy.

The attack which was used remote-controlled land mines took place at an area located between Beled-Hawo and Mandera towns on the Kenyan-Somali border.

The KDF troops were targeted in the IED blasts while conducting routine security patrol near the border towns in northeast region, where has been the scene of several attacks by Al shabaab in the past.

Afghanistan
MC: Failed hostage rescue mission, again
U.S. special operations forces mounted an unsuccessful mission to rescue two American University of Afghanistan professors kidnapped in Kabul last month -- after an earlier mission was aborted when the White House withheld its approval -- defense officials with knowledge of the incident told Fox News.

Fox News is told the operation, which took place a few days after their Aug. 7 kidnapping, killed seven enemy fighters. But when the firefight ended, there was no sign of the hostages.

One of the hostages is American; the other is Australian.

It was not the first attempt by the U.S. military to rescue the two professors.

The first mission was aborted when the American rescue force could not obtain White House approval for the mission amid concerns about the intelligence, according to three defense officials. They were in the air heading to the target area at the time and had to return to their base in Afghanistan.
Oh good grief.
When approval was granted by President Obama the next day, the American assault force headed back to the area where they believed the two hostages were being held and engaged an enemy force at a compound believed to contain the hostages.

"It didn't go the way it was supposed to go," said one official. The official said the attempted rescue mission occurred somewhere in Afghanistan, but was not authorized to be more specific.

It is not immediately clear if the hostages were ever inside the compound or moved before the second rescue attempt could take place, according to one official.

The initial mission was cancelled because the intelligence was not completely firm and there was not consensus among different government agencies, which prevented the White House from granting approval, one official told Fox News.
Thank you, ValJar and Dave, for a White House operation that runs as smoothly as Hillary's server farm...
"They turned back that first night because they didn't have authority. They could have gone without permission if they thought hostages lives were in imminent danger," according to one official.
They're being held by the Taliban. OF COURSE they're in imminent danger! They're in imminent danger every second they're being held!
The professors were kidnapped while driving in Kabul on Aug. 7. The Haqqani network, an Afghan insurgent group, is suspected.

Today, the U.S. intelligence community is "not confident" where the two hostages are, according to multiple officials.
They weren't 100% confident when they were confident. It's the nature of the intel business. You take your best shot, and you keep trying.
One source told Fox News the delay in approving the first rescue attempt was due to the White House "bureaucracy."

"I have not heard any of that," said another official when asked by Fox News for comment. "For this operation, we didn't get the president's authority in time because the intelligence was not firm."

"If the hostages are … in imminent danger, we go," said the official. "That was not the case this time, so we went the next day."

None of the U.S. special operations forces were killed or wounded during the exchange of gunfire with the enemy force.

Jeez Louise, no wonder our young people in the military are so frustrated.

Our family's Marine Sergeant told us that the waiting for mission approvals were starting to get 'f'n nuts' when he opted out after three 'tours'. Probably not good for everyone's career, but stuff needed to get done.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
9 die in airstrikes on Aleppo
BEIRUT: Volunteer first responders in Syria’s Aleppo have pulled the bodies of nine people, including four children, from the rubble following air raids Friday on a rebel-held district.

The Syrian Civil Defense, also known as the White Helmets, said helicopters dropped crude barrel bombs on the area. The activist-operated Aleppo Media Center and the Local Coordination Committees also reported that nine were killed in the bombing. The LCC said five were wounded and rescuers continued to sift through the rubble for survivors.

The UN humanitarian chief Stephen O’Brien described the situation in rebel-held eastern Aleppo as “extremely severe, to the point of it being de facto besiegement.” Aleppo, Syria’s largest city and onetime commercial center, has been divided since 2012.

Speaking in Geneva with the UN Syria envoy Staffan de Mistura, O’Brien said the international body will continue to press for a 48-hour weekly humanitarian pause. Some 250,000 people are estimated to be trapped in the rebel-held eastern Aleppo.

Efforts to bring about a nationwide cease-fire and a return to peace talks are currently bogged down over Aleppo, which has seen months of intense fighting.

US Secretary of State John Kerry is meeting with his Russian counterpart in Geneva Friday to discuss such a deal, in talks that have dragged over two weeks. A deal hinges on an unlikely US-Russian military partnership that would come into force if Moscow can pressure its ally, Syrian President Bashar Assad’s government, to halt offensive operations. Washington would have to persuade the anti-Assad rebels it supports to end any coordination with Al-Qaeda’s affiliate in Syria and other extremist groups.

De Mistura said if the U.S-Russia talks succeed it could make a “major difference.”
“We are all hoping for positive conclusions. Let’s be frank: the discussions are addressing complex, delicate, difficult issues,” said de Mistura, who met with Lavrov Thursday.

De Mistura reiterated the concerns over the situation in eastern Aleppo, saying the area may run out of fuel within days. “So regardless of everywhere, Aleppo is becoming an urgent issue even more than before.”

Pro-government forces have recently stepped up attacks on rebel-held Aleppo, after regaining control this week of a major artery in the city’s south, which rebel forces had taken last month.

Friday’s air raids on the city’s southern edge came after a wave of bombings, including suspected gas attacks, blamed on the government.

A women and children’s hospital in eastern Aleppo was briefly shut down after it was hit in an air raid late Tuesday, making it the latest of the area’s eight hospitals to be damaged since July in the bombing campaign, Doctors Without Borders said Friday.

Worshippers from more than 150 countries began gathering on Friday in the city, one of the holiest sites in Islam, to prepare for the five-day pilgrimage which starts on Saturday, September 10
looks like it will be over 106F each day as is usual for this time of year in Mecca
To address security concerns, nearly a thousand new surveillance cameras have been installed at Mecca's Grand Mosque, which will monitor crowd numbers, and the Jamarat stoning (a symbolic stoning of the devil based on historic tradition) will be more tightly controlled than in previous years....pilgrims will be given electronic bracelets storing personal and medical information that will help authorities provide care and identify people
especially the dead ones.

9 suspected terrorists killed in Tirah valley air strikes
Sux to be the Bad Guys
PESHAWAR: At least nine suspected terrorists were killed in air strikes in the Tirah valley area of Khyber Agency on Friday.

Military officials said two hideouts were also destroyed in the airstrikes.

Pakistan Air Force jets precisely targeted militant hideouts in Kukikhel area of Tirah valley in which nine militants were killed and two hideouts were destroyed, said security officials.

Khyber Agency and North Waziristan are among Pakistan’s seven semi-autonomous tribal districts near the Afghan border, rife with homegrown insurgents and foreign militants.

These areas have also been considered home to religious extremist organisations including Al Qaeda and the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

Military operation Zarb-i-Azb and the National Action Plan were launched against insurgents following attacks on Karachi's Jinnah International Airport and Peshawar's Army Public School in 2014.

Officials say nearly 3,000 militants have been killed since the launch of the latest offensive.

The number of attacks in Pakistan has fallen around 70 per cent this year, due to a combination of a military offensive against Taliban bases along the Afghan border and government initiatives to tackle militancy.

IDF denies Palestinian claims it killed Gaza teen near border
[IsraelTimes] Paleostinian sources say army shot at rioters near Gazoo Strip fence, but the military says no troops were operating in the area

Medical sources in the Gazoo Strip said Friday evening that a young Paleostinian was killed by IDF fire in El Bureij, in the central Gazoo Strip. The 18-year-old was reportedly killed during riots by Paleostinians near the Gazoo border fence.

Friday evening army officials said troops were not operating in the area where the Paleostinian teen was killed.
IDF officials said in response the Paleostinian "claims are known and are now being examined." But later on Friday evening army officials said troops were not operating in the area where the Paleostinian teen was killed.

Earlier this week, on Monday, Paleostinians in northern Gazoo fired across the border at Israeli soldiers.

In response, tanks fired at two Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, posts in Gazoo, the IDF said in a statement. Paleostinian media sources reported the targets were buildings belonging to the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas’s military wing.

No injuries were reported on either side.

In a separate operation, IDF troops tossed in the clink
Don't shoot, coppers! I'm comin' out!
six alleged Hamas operatives throughout the West Bank and seized a weapons cache containing explosives in the village of Surif, north of Hebron.

The shots fired from Gazoo are the latest in a series of minor festivities between Gazoo based groups and the IDF. Two days ago a similar incident occurred at the same site.

India seeks more than $200 billion to expand its arsenal
For India to meet equipment and weapons requirements necessary to expand its military capabilities in the next eleven years the country will need about $233 billion. There is some doubt as to whether the funds can be raised in that time, Sputnik reported.
They could do a third of this and still spend more than the Paks can spend...
The equipment and weapons are listed in the Long Term Integrated Perspective Plan (LTIPP) for 2012-2027 and, according to Defense News, funding will be sourced chiefly through Capital Head, the Indian procurement budget. Defense spending will need to increase by at least 10 percent if the funding target is to be met.

The 2016-2017 funding allocation for Capital Head is $37.94 billion, a 2.3 percent increase from last year. Nitin Mehta, a defense analyst based in India, believes that the diminishing value of India’s national currency is going to be a considerable obstacle for India to meet its multi-billion dollar goal.

"Given the depreciating Indian rupee and near-stagnant fund allocation in the last two years, it is unlikely that there would be an annual increase of more than 11 percent to meet the target of $233 billion set by LTIPP for the next 11 years," he said.

Former Ministry of Defense financial adviser Amit Cowshish disagrees, offering, "The amount of US $233 billion works out to approximately 15,000,000 million Indian rupees. The current year's allocation for capital acquisitions is around 700,000 million rupees. Taking this as the base and assuming a reasonable yearly growth of 10 to 11 percent, the total allocation over the next 11 years would anyway be close to 15,000,000 million rupees. So any acquisition plan that is based on this financial assumption would be quite realistic."

According to LTIPP nearly 100 single-engine fighter jets, 12 submarines, more than 120 twin-engine fighter aircrafts, 500 helicopters and an aircraft carrier are listed to be purchased.

Govt's Security Strategy for Kabul Under Fire
So to speak...
The Ministry of Interior (MoI) Friday confirmed intelligence and reconnaissance institutions were failing to foil terrorist attacks in Kabul, but vowed to plan more coherent and robust security measures to thwart militant attacks.

"If we analyze the performance of the intelligence bodies, they have made achievements, every mission has its own weak point and strong point," said MoI deputy spokesman Najibullah Danish.

However, a large number of attacks in Kabul have been carried out by truck bombings. But police at some check posts say that searching these vehicles is not part of their duty.

Pul-e-Charkhi area of Kabul is one of the key routes into the city where the police does not search every vehicle entering the capital.

"Police search only small vehicles such as Corollas; we do not search the trucks," said a police officer in Pul-e-Charkhi.

"They (police) do not search trucks loaded with cement, flour, tomatoes and potatoes," said a driver, Gahwar.

"A suicide attack happened in the city including Shahr-e-Naw attack, these attacks should not happen in the city," said a resident of Kabul, Sattar.

"Intelligence agencies are quite weak," said another resident Matin.

"There are serious weaknesses and incompetency with our intelligence institutions, the national unity government should take steps to improve the performance of the intelligence and reconnaissance organs and their working capacity," said senator Hedayatollah Rehayee.
