EXACTLY Why Many Republicans Support Trump
H/T Instapundit
On Tuesday, Politico reported that former President George H.W. Bush would vote for Hillary Clinton over Donald Trump. The Bush family has shunned Trump since the primaries and drawn close to the Clintons since George H.W. Bush’s exit from office in 1992. Still, the news was somewhat shocking, given both the Bush family’s continued prominence in Republican politics ‐ George P. Bush is currently Texas land commissioner and has his eye on higher office.

But the H.W. Bush apparent decision, reported by Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, should come as no surprise. The Bush family isn’t put off so much by Trump’s policy proposals ‐ except for immigration and free trade, the Bush family likely agrees with much of Trump’s left-leaning policy. They’re mostly put off by Trump’s attitude ‐ his boorishness, his ignorance, his general sense of know-nothingism. To be fair, Trump clubbed Jeb! like a baby seal and the Bush family specifically during the debates; that had to draw some ire from the family. But for George H.W. Bush, the deciding factor was likely attitudinal: Trump just doesn’t belong. The Clintons, by dint of two decades in the White House spotlight, do.

This is one of the objections to Trump that many Trump supporters have a right to be angry about. It’s one thing to object to Trump based on policy differences and a general belief that he toxifies the conservative message. It’s another thing to do it because he doesn’t belong in the toney company of the blue bloods. The Bush Family feels like American royalty, and they appear to see Trump as a nouveau riche blowhard. That feels elitist rather than principled. Nobody was surprised that the person who reported H.W. Bush’s voting choice was a Kennedy. That’s how the Bushes roll.

Beltway party, eh?

Messages from ISIL territory ask forgiveness for murder
The way I read this: If they had won, they would have been assured that Allan approved of whatever barbaric acts they had committed because . . . they had won. Now they suspect they are losing, which means to them that Allan isn't so happy with their choices. But which choices? It's so hard to tell. All they know is that Allan is unhappy with the balance of their behavior. They don't seem to learn much from history. They just keep making minute-to-minute decisions to satisfy immediate desires, history-be-damned. Maybe their clerics keep reinterpreting things to make their immediate desires different from the same immediate desires from years ago. Maybe this could be used to ultimately revolutionize and pacify the religion?
The practice of writing a prominent official or scholar for advice dates back hundreds of years, if not more. In the 1690s, for example, Londoners sent letters to the Athenian Mercury, a twice weekly newspaper that published the questions about everything from love to sin. Religious figures have also frequently been sought out for correspondence by people seeking absolution or guidance in times of hardship. Such exchanges have long been a window into society's fears and anxieties.

Indeed the same may be true for written correspondence from individuals living in parts of Iraq controlled by the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), which paints a bleak picture of life for both ISIL members and civilians still living under the its control.

The correspondence, obtained by The Intercept and Al Jazeera, was sent to a religious scholar living in Jordan who has been associated with other groups in the past, but is critical of ISIL. The messages come from people in ISIL-held territory, both members of the group and civilians, who are seeking his religious advice. Wanting such counsel from religious figures is common in the Muslim world, but the recipient of these messages in particularly respected among Muslims in Iraq, Syria and Jordan.

The religious figure is not named here in order to protect his legal status in Jordan.
Hmm. Seems AJ has more sense here than some members of the liberal press.
The advice seekers are unrelated: one is an ISIL fighter in Fallujah, and the other is a Sunni Muslim civilian living in Mosul.

The correspondence took place from early June to mid August, and coincided with major events in those cities reported by international media ‐ including the Iraqi government's offensive to retake Fallujah and the increasing pressure on the inhabitants of Mosul in preparation for the operation.

"The battle for Fallujah was a success in that it ended with ISIS driven out and a government established that had representation from the local Sunni community," says Nathaniel Rabkin, managing editor of the political risk publication Inside Iraq Politics.

"Having said that, there was a lot of ugliness associated with the campaign, including damage to infrastructure and allegations of abuses by Shia militia groups."

The messages from these cities offer a glimpse into the effect of military pressure on ISIL fighters in Iraq, as well as the fears of some Sunni Muslims that they would be the target of reprisals when their cities were recaptured by the government.

On June 26, Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi announced that Iraqi forces had successfully liberated the city of Fallujah from ISIL. The announcement marked the fourth time that Fallujah had violently changed hands since the American invasion Iraq in 2003. In this case, the city, once known as a centre of Sufi Islam, was retaken only after months of US air raids and besiegement by Iraqi ground troops.

Before heavy fighting in the city began this June, an ISIL fighter reached out to the Jordanian religious scholar for advice, saying that members of ISIL had committed "mistakes" in Fallujah, including acts of murder, and had mistreated the local population.

"There is no time to indulge in details. However, if I survive this ordeal I might get into details. But let's suppose that the mistakes had to do with murder, what should I do? And if it had to do with violations of Islamic law, what should I do so I face God with clean conscience? Would my repentance for these actions be enough for God to forgive me if I am a member of this group?"

During the run-up to the battle, the fighter said that ISIL members debated whether to allow their own family members and other civilians to flee Fallujah. He estimated that the group had only around 800 members prepared to defend Fallujah from the Iraqi Army, whose numbers were known to be far greater.

"We in Fallujah are under siege by the Shia, the [hostile Sunni tribes], and the apostates. We have decided that we should fight to death. Our morale is high, but the city is under siege and no supplies can come in. The enemy - the Iraqi army - is over 30,000 while the Mujahedeen are only 800 and are shrinking as a result of the air strikes. The American air force bombs us even if someone fires a bullet."

After the battle commenced, American air strikes on the city apparently took a significant toll on the ISIL defenders.

"In just one day, American bombings killed 75 fighters, and on another day they killed and injured over 40," the man wrote.

Following the Iraqi army's reclamation of the city in late June, the man lost contact with the religious figure. But he reached out to him again in July, saying that he and other surviving ISIL fighters had fled Fallujah into the surrounding desert:

"The reason I stopped this communication was because our internet service was cut off after the attack on Fallujah. We were fighting for weeks, many people were killed and injured. The battle was won by the Shia. We fled the city towards the desert which was disastrous due to the conditions we faced afterwards. The US bombing took its toll on us, and killed about 200 more of us. We fled into the desert and I am not sure if God was testing us or punishing us. I am now in the Al Bukamal area and the internet service here is not consistent."

He recounted to the religious scholar the suffering that he and other surviving ISIL members had experienced while fleeing Fallujah:

"First, we suffered great fear because of the American bombings, and thus there was no safe place for us and no place to hide. This took its toll on us. Then we suffered disorientation and confusion, we were lost in this huge desert. Making things worse was the fact that our guide was killed by the air strikes. We stayed 10 days in the desert not knowing where we were going as we were chased by the bombers from the air. We suffered terribly as result of extreme thirst. Many of us died of thirst and I myself almost died of it, if it was not for God's mercy. It was the most horrific 10 days that I have ever experienced."

The man told the scholar that many of the other fighters who had managed to flee Fallujah had instructed their families to leave ISIL territory altogether and move to territories controlled by local Sunni tribes, for fear of what would happen if they were captured by Shia militia groups. Meanwhile, in his new location, still under ISIL control, he claims to have witnessed the same abuses that the group had inflicted in Fallujah.

"Some of us reached Mosul, others did not. But the same mistakes that were made in Fallujah are being made here all over again. In that I mean the mistreatment of population, disregard to proper strategies and the spread of injustice. If ever want our situation to change, we should start rethinking of our actions and mistakes and revision should be considered at the highest levels."

The man's messages cut off some time after that, with his fate unclear. In one of his last messages he again lamented that the group had lost Fallujah, "because of the injustices we have committed against the people".

Mosul is Iraq's second largest city, and has been under the control of ISIL fighters since 2014. The ISIL force that routed the Iraqi Army is believed to have consisted of little more than a thousand fighters, yet it managed to defeat a much larger force over the course of a six-day battle. The unlikely initial success of ISIL in Mosul is believed to be a product of the widespread unpopularity of the Iraqi Army forces that had been stationed in the city. These forces were predominantly Shia, and were alleged to have carried out sectarian abuses against the city's mostly Sunni local population.

In a series of messages delivered over the course of the summer, a man currently living in Mosul who reached out to the Jordanian religious scholar described his despair over the future of the city ‐ trapped under the harsh governance of ISIL fighters and facing an assault by potentially vengeful Iraqi government forces.

"I am writing this account because I see our end is near. I live in Mosul, I am a devout Muslim, but not a member of ISIL and I don't intend to join them anytime soon. I am writing this account to explain our dire situation in this city. Although like many residents of Mosul, we saw the Shia government of Baghdad as a bigger danger and a threat to our lives than ISIL. But as our life conditions deteriorate rather rapidly from bad to worse, some have started thinking of what was unthinkable few years ago: preferring Shia Baghdad's dangerous rule to ISIL."

While the man had once welcomed ISIL as possible liberators from the oppressive central government, the brutal treatment meted out by ISIL members to the local population had changed his perception.

"While Mosul is under siege and a war against it is looming in the horizon, the people there have lost trust in everything that comes from ISIL. They even are reluctant to pick up arms to defend the city because of mistreatment and harassment they have been subjected to. We even started hearing those who are saying: it does not matter any more who comes and take over Mosul. [ISIL's] behaviour and aggression against the residents of Mosul and their capturing and enslaving women from others faiths has turned people away from them....

...People's morale is down, and I saw that coming, and expected even worse because of how they treated the population and created enemies throughout the region. The situation here is very difficult. I am very confused about the future and often ask myself if we should stay home and await the knives of the Shias when they eventually come to kill us. Should we flee to the desert with our women and children, or keep our families at home and carry arms to defend ourselves?"

In the autumn of 2015, the Iraqi government stopped paying the salaries of public sector workers living in Mosul. While the decision to starve ISIL-controlled areas of funds made tactical sense, it financially left the city's residents impoverished.

"People are exhausted by poverty; they desperately need money especially after the Shia rulers of Baghdad cut off the salaries more than a year ago," the man wrote. "Eighty percent of the people here are government employees, so they are directly impacted by cutting their salaries off and face severe problems of trying to feed and take care of their families."

The callous response by ISIL leaders to this apparent suffering had further embittered the man and other Mosul residents.

"Remarkably, while all this is taking place, ISIS couldn't care less about the people or how they feel or what they are going through. Every Friday during the prayer sermon, their preachers insult the local population and attack them for not going off to Jihad with them and accuse them of being cowards and hypocrites. Their [morality police] is manned by young men and teenagers who insult and attack older and grown men. These young teenagers often issue tickets and fines to elderly men because they for example shaved some of their beards off, even though people barely have money to eat let alone have any to pay imposed fines. They also often yell at women because they slightly showed their faces or eyes from under their veils."

In the run-up to the government offensive against Mosul, many Iraqis have reportedly made plans to flee the city by paying local smugglers. In his letters, the man says that ISIL refuses to let people flee the city through normal channels, claiming that those who flee territory under its control are apostates from Islam itself. The man said that he had tried to reason with local ISIL officials on behalf of the women, children and foreigners present in Mosul, to no avail.

"I advised some of ISIL men who I knew in the city to let the women and children out of Mosul before the war starts, especially western women - French, Swedish, Danish, British and others because they have no place else to go. Unlike what happened in Fallujah where Iraqi women fled to other Sunni areas in advance of the battle and found shelter in tribal areas. Western women and their children have no such option. I told them they should give them back their passports and have them go to Syria or elsewhere before the war starts, because the Kurds and the Shia are coming for revenge and they will murder and rape those women. But they mocked and threatened me and refused to listen.

What makes me more confused is that Raqqa is part of House of Islam, [under the control of ISIL] so why can't they allow people to escape there? Furthermore, ISIL allows Syrians to come from Syria to shop and engage in trade in Mosul, but does not allow Iraqis to go to Syria and do the same thing. I, like many other residents of Mosul, find this very troubling."

In his last messages, the man said that he initially hoped that ISIL would govern Mosul in accordance with his own understanding of Islamic law. But now, he lamented, "what we see here today is everything else but God's conditions and instructions. We see injustice rule us, we see aggression and murder take place everywhere around us."

"Under these conditions we live in, I don't think any of us would have the power or the motivation to fight the Shias when they eventually come to destroy us," the man wrote. "Our situation is dire and is much bigger than us, we can only ask God for his help and his forgiveness."

#1  To the first one I would say, be grateful that the difficulties you are enduring succeeded in Allah's desire that you realize your dreadful error. Now turn your guile and your weapons against ISIS. When you have killed as many of them as of the civilians you previously abused and murdered, and of your violations of Sharia, then you will have shown Allah that your repentence is sincere. And when you have additionally killed among the fighters and rulers of ISIS as many more as you killed of those fighting against ISIS in Fallujah and elsewhere, then you can pray Allah will once again accept you as a true Moslem instead of an abomination hateful in his sight. For the words of repentence without actions to repair the wrong done is the farmer's apology to the pig he puts on the truck to the slaughterhouse.

As for the civilian gentleman in Mosul, Allah has given him exactly what he wanted, good and hard. Let him learn from this to be more modest in his desires in the future.

Oddly enough, no one writes to me seeking advice in such matters.

Rahami's wife skedaddled two days before bombings
The wife of bombing suspect Ahmad Khan Rahami left the US a few days before the NY, NJ bombings, an official says. US officials want to speak with her, a law enforcement official said on condition of anonymity.

The official didn't provide details about her travels but said authorities are working with officials in Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates to gain access to her.

Her timeline in the United States wasn't immediately clear. Rahami had tried earlier this decade to petition to bring his wife to the United States from Pakistan, though it wasn't clear when he succeeded.

A law enforcement official told CNN that Rahami filed the paperwork in 2011, and it was approved in 2012. Then, in 2014, Rahami contacted the office of US Rep. Albio Sires, D-New Jersey, from Islamabad, Pakistan, saying he was concerned about his wife's passport and visa. It turned out her Pakistani passport had expired and the consulate wouldn't give her an immigrant visa until the passport was renewed, Sires said.

Once the passport was renewed, she found out she was pregnant, and officials told her they wouldn't give a visa until she had the baby, Sires said. They also told her an immigrant visa would be needed for the baby after the birth. At that point, Rahami claims the consulate told him to go back to Karachi, Pakistan, but he claimed it was too dangerous to go there. The congressman doesn't know what happened after that.
Maybe she's staying with Noor Salman?

Victor Davis Hanson--Never NeverTrump: The Republican dilemma
Any Republican has a difficult pathway to the presidency. On the electoral map, expanding blue blobs in coastal and big-city America swamp the conservative geographical sea of red. Big-electoral-vote states such as California, Illinois, New York, and New Jersey are utterly lost before the campaign even begins. The media have devolved into a weird Ministry of Truth. News seems defined now as what information is necessary to release to arrive at correct views.

In recent elections, centrists, like John McCain and Mitt Romney ‐ once found useful by the media when running against more-conservative Republicans -- were reinvented as caricatures of Potterville scoundrels right out of a Frank Capra movie.

When the media got through with a good man like McCain, he was left an adulterous, confused septuagenarian, unsure of how many mansions he owned, and a likely closeted bigot. Another gentleman like Romney was reduced to a comic-book Ri¢hie Ri¢h, who owned an elevator, never talked to his garbage man, hazed innocents in prep school, and tortured his dog on the roof of his car. If it were a choice between shouting down debate moderator Candy Crowley and shaming her unprofessionalism, or allowing her to hijack the debate, Romney in Ajaxian style ("nobly live, or nobly die") chose the decorous path of dignified abdication.

In contrast, we were to believe Obama’s adolescent faux Greek columns, hokey "lowering the seas and cooling the planet," vero possumus seal on his podium as president-elect, and 57 states were Lincolnesque.

Why would 2016 not end up again in losing nobly? Would once again campaigning under the Marquess of Queensberry rules win Republicans a Munich reprieve?

The Orangeman Cometh
In such a hysterical landscape, it was possible that no traditional Republican in 2016 was likely to win, even against a flawed candidate like Hillary Clinton, who emerged wounded from a bruising primary win over aged socialist Bernie Sanders.

Part of that occurs because *we* don't require them to pay the price for their favoritism. STOP watching channels that offend your sensibility with their reporting. I gave up NBC, CBS, and ABC a few years ago. I watch ONLY college football and the NFL on those channels--and when they attempt to editorialize on those channels during football broadcasts, I send emails of complaint. Fuck them. I don't need those channels any longer. There's plenty of entertainment options out there that aren't (actively) attempting to bring down this country.

[CNN] Ahmad Khan Rahami, the suspect in the weekend bombings in New York and New Jersey, traveled for extended periods to Afghanistan and Pakistan in the last few years, officials said.

Rahami, 28, spent several weeks in Kandahar, Afghanistan, and Quetta, Pakistan, in 2011, according to a law enforcement official who reviewed his travel and immigration record.

Two years later, in April 2013, he went to Pakistan and remained there until March 2014 before returning to the US, official said.
Trout fishing? Paki NASCAR?
Investigators are looking into whether he was radicalized overseas before returning to the United States in 2014, according to the official. As of Monday, the law enforcement official said, there is no indication he was on the radar before this weekend, when explosions went off in New York and New Jersey.

Rahami and his family are from Afghanistan. He first came in January 1995, several years after his father arrived seeking asylum, the official said. He was given a US passport in 2003, while a minor, and again in 2007 after he said he lost his first one. He became a naturalized US citizen in 2011.

Quetta is considered a stronghold of the Taliban. While there in July 2011, Rahami married a Pakistani woman.

100,000 Somalis admitted to U.S. since 9/11
h/t Gates of Vienna

Almost 100,000 Somali refugees have been resettled in the United States since 9/11, including 8,619 so far during the current fiscal year. The largest number ‐ some 16 percent of the total over the past 15 years ‐ have been resettled in Minnesota, home to the nation’s biggest Somali-American community.

Of the 97,046 Somali refugees admitted to the U.S. since the fall of 2001, 99.6 percent were Muslim, and 28,836 (29.7 percent) were males between the ages of 14 and 50.

Africa Subsaharan
Zimbabwe: Chinese Given Farms
h/t Gates of Vienna
Farms built up and created by whites in Zimbabwe--and forcibly seized by the black government in an anti-white racist frenzy--are being handed over to Chinese "immigrants," it has been revealed.

The farms--large-scale operations which were previously the backbone of the Zimbabwean agricultural industry--have collapsed after being seized from their white owners.

According to a report in Britain’s Telegraph newspaper, farms "just north of Harare lie fallow amid broken fences, fields scorched by fires and scarce livestock. There are few surviving indigenous trees as many were felled by new farmers who could not afford coal to cure their tobacco."

The Chinese farmers, the paper said, are taking over the "former white-owned farms in Zimbabwe to cash in on tobacco" crops. Tobacco--along with many foodstuffs--grow easily in the country’s warm climate and rich soil, but appear to be beyond the Africans’ ability to manage.
IMO, they should've stuck with whites --- Chinese don't need Africans for cheap labor.

Talk about a shrinking population. A survey of Japanese people aged 18 to 34 found that almost 70 percent of unmarried men and 60 percent of unmarried women are not in a relationship.

Moreover, many of them have never got close and cuddly. Around 42 percent of the men and 44.2 percent of the women admitted they were virgins.

Commitment when you have apps where you literally shop for a one-night hookup, makes monogamy seem redundant in many people's minds. Add in the spread of contraceptives eliminating "Accident" children and you get a large population shrink.

Though I suppose it could also be life-expectancy increasing, and health overall, may play a part. We hear constantly about how close we are to defeating everything from old-age to impotency. Go figure Millennials aren't in a hurry to procreate.

Krauthammer: WH 'Reluctance' to ID Terrorism 'Hovers Between Inexplicable And Delusional'
[Fox] Syndicated columnist Charles Krauthammer criticized the Obama administration';s "reluctance and denial" to flatly identify terrorism, including radical Islamic terrorism, as the culprit in 'lone-wolf' and other attacks on the American populace.
Neither 'inexplicable nor delusional.' Much more damaging that either of those.
"Absolutely clear that admin's reluctance and denial hovers somewhere between inexplicable and delusional," Krauthammer said on Special Report with Bret Baier.

"Time after time shows attempt to say anything but what these things are."

"[Obama called] the Fort Hood [attack] 'workplace violence' --[which showed] a reluctance to use" the term 'terrorism', Krauthammer said.

The administration is "still pondering about the guy that stabbed people in the mall in Minnesota--who went around asking people if they were Muslim [and] invoked Allah," he said.

Krauthammer also criticized the White House for apparently treating ’lone-wolf’ terror attacks as a "lesser category" than organized group attacks.

"In the absence of a letter of instruction written in Raqqa by the leader of ISIS, it counts as less," he said.

He said that such linguistics "give fuel" to Republicans, including Donald Trump.

This exchange took place on Reddit and involves Paul Combetta, an employee with Platte River Networks, the company in charge of Hillary Clinton’s home server.

Combetta was granted immunity from Obama’s Department of Justice in their investigation of Clinton.

Combetta was the employee who deleted all of Hillary Clinton’s emails.

According users on Reddit, Combetta asked for assistance in July 2014 from Reddit users on how to purge emails and how to strip VIP’s email address from "a bunch of archived emails."

This was posted Monday on Reddit:

House panel looking into Reddit post about Clinton's email server

The House Oversight Committee is reviewing a Reddit post that alleges an IT specialist who worked on Hillary Clinton’s private server sought advice on how to alter the contents of “VERY VIP” emails, according to Rep. Mark Meadows (R-N.C.).

Meadows is the chairman of the panel’s Government Operations subcommittee.

“The Reddit post issue and its connection to Paul Combetta is currently being reviewed by OGR staff and evaluations are being made as to the authenticity of the post,” Meadows told The Hill.

Armed forces chiefs confirm sense of Obama distrust
[Wash Times] As the four armed forces chiefs testified in the Senate about the national security dangers of mandated budget caps, Sen. Lindsey Graham asked each officer if he had discussed the readiness crisis with President Obama.

Their unanimous answers before the Senate Armed Services Committee last week underscored a key aspect of the Obama presidency, noted by his own past defense secretaries and, in a recent disclosure, a former NATO commander: The president maintains a wary approach in dealing with the four-star generals and admirals who direct his wars.

That is because the four-star generals DO NOT 'direct his wars.' They simply provide systems and manpower. Wars are now directed and managed by the Central Intelligence Agency. Been that way for quite some time. Please review graphic.

Computer Tech Who Asked How To ‘Strip Out' Email Addys' May Have Worked For HRC
[Daily Caller] The computer technician who worked on Hillary Clinton's email server appears to have asked for advice on how to "strip out" a "VIP's" email address during a crucial period in the Clinton email timeline.

The advice was sought in a July 24, 2014 entry on the website Reddit from a user with the handle "stonetear." The Daily Caller has confirmed that Paul Combetta, the Platte River Networks technician who worked on Clinton's server, uses an email address with the same handle.

He told fellow Redditers that it involved the private email address of someone they would all recognize. His post indicates that the Clinton team was ordering an obstruction of justice effort to take place.

NYC Bombing Suspect Was Anti-Gay, Hated America

Rahami was arrested Monday in connection with this weekend's bombings in New York and New Jersey.

Rahami's high school sweetheart and mother of his daughter, whom Fox News identified only as "Maria," said Rahami would often rail against American culture and homosexuals.

"He would speak often of Western culture and how it was different back home," Maria told Fox News. "How there weren't homosexuals in Afghanistan."

Chronic Virtue
Some analysts believe that president Obama's unfocused and seemingly half-hearted efforts have created a counterterror resistant strain of Jihadists in the same way that the desultory use of antibiotics created superbugs. They predict that eventually even the NSA will "go deaf" against the Jihadists as their trade craft improves. Indeed Ahmad Khan Rahami, the Chelsea New York bomber "traveled to Pakistan and Afghanistan several times without detection by the U.S. government, officials told The Daily Beast."

In consequence the internal Western Jihadi threat may become chronic. It will never be solved. Not at least for decades.
Nonsense. No Muslims access, no terrorism.
...Internationally the situation is no different. None of the wars, not even Afghanistan or Iraq, are ending. In fact conflict is spreading by the day. The ceasefire which John Kerry hoped would start the peace process in the Levant collapsed in tragic farce, with an errant American airstrike annihilating a Syrian Army position while a Russian airstrike decimated a UN relief column bound for Aleppo. It's so embarrassing the White House admitted it was skeptical of its own plan from the first.

...But who cares? As John Kerry begins his quest for a new ceasefire, president Barack Obama is devoting his remaining months in office to admitting more refugees into the West. The Atlantic's Priscilla Alvarez writes, "on Tuesday, U.S. President Barack Obama will host a summit on the refugee crisis on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly meeting. His administration reportedly plans to increase the number of refugees the United States will let in to 110,000 in fiscal year 2017, and he is expected to call on other world leaders to take in more refugees themselves."

Taking in more refugees won't solve anything either internationally or in the West itself. But it's virtuous and signals it. One reason for the "Forever War" is because winning has become optional. Unlike WW2 when Roosevelt and Truman were under pressure to win the war and bring the boys home, Obama's America can sustainably fight major conflicts without putting masses of voters under arms. Whenever things get dicey, the administration can just send a B-1 over to restore the balance so Kerry can go back to the nth doomed ceasefire.

Emails Show That Blumenthal Urged Reporter To Investigate Obama's Activities In Kenya
[Daily Caller] A journalist who says that longtime Clinton friend Sidney Blumenthal urged him in 2008 to investigate whether Barack Obama was born in Kenya has released emails that shed new light on the matter.

The journalist is James Asher, the former Washington bureau chief for McClatchy Newspapers.

He caused a stir on Friday when he wrote on Twitter that in 2008, Blumenthal told him during a face-to-face meeting that Obama was born in Kenya. Blumenthal, a former journalist and Bill Clinton White House aide, denied the accusation on Sunday, telling Fox News that what Asher claimed "never happened."

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Monday sees four attacks as wave of terror continues
[Ynet] A bus driver was lightly injured in Wadi al-Joz in east Jerusalem; a stabbing attack was thwarted in Hebron; another stabbing attack occured at the Tomb of the Patriarchs in the afternoon; two coppers were stabbed outside the Old City of Jerusalem in the morning.

There were four terror attacks carried out throughout Israel on Monday.

In the latest, a bus driver was lightly maimed in a stone throwing attack on Monday evening as it was travelling through the Arab Wadi al-Joz neighborhood in east Jerusalem.

Magen David Adom paramedics arrived on the scene and treated the driver, while the Israel Police have begun a search for the stone throwers.

Meanwhile,
...back at the palazzo, Count Guido had escaped from his bonds and overwhelmed his guard using the bludgeon the faithful Filomena had smuggled to him in the loaf of bread...
only moments before, a Paleostinian man tried to stab IDF soldiers who were combing the area in the Abu Snina neighborhood of Hebron. The soldiers nabbed
Maw! They're comin' to get me, Maw!
the terrorist without firing a shot, and took him in for questioning.

The US State Department issued a travel warning to east Jerusalem following Monday’s terror incidents. The warning stated that the reason for this is recent terror events in Jerusalem’s Old City, and said that civilians should avoid visiting areas in which there is a heavy police presence. American citizens were specifically warned to avoid going to the Old City’s gates - particularly the Lions’ Gate, Damascus Gate, and Herod’s Gate.

Earlier in the evening, Jerusalem District Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner Yoram Halevy, addressed the recent wave of attacks and said that police will continue to close streets and stores after attacks. "We will close stores in any sector after an attack takes place so that we can sterilize the area."

Halevy was referring to the fact that during the day, after terrorist attacks in Herod's Gate, east Jerusalem Police closed the Sultan Suleiman street shops. Police stressed that the decision was based on "operational considerations in order to establish information and complete the investigation of the attack." After several hours and an official police assessment, police decided to reopen the route and shops.

Two snuffies attempted to stab Border Police officers at the Cave of the Patriarchs in Hebron earlier on Monday afternoon. They were shot and very seriously injured before they could harm anyone. One attacker was declared dead at the scene, while the second was pronounced dead in hospital.

Also, a 38-year-old policewoman and a 47-year-old policeman were maimed in a stabbing attack at Herod's Gate in Jerusalem's Old City Monday morning; Magen David Adom (MDA) reported that the two were left in critical and serious condition respectively.

The attack took place shortly after 7:30am. The terrorist apparently approached from the direction of Damascus Gate when he spotted the two members of the police. He followed them and stabbed them multiple times with a knife. Police spokeswoman Luba Samri said that the policewoman was stabbed in the neck.
The Times of Israel adds:
Israeli police on Monday enjugged
I ain't sayin' nuttin' widdout me mout'piece!
the three brothers of an East Jerusalem man who stabbed and maimed two coppers outside the capital’s Old City earlier in the day. The three were suspected of expressing support for the stabbings, and police were investigating whether they helped their brother plan and carry out the attack.

The assailant, 20-year-old Ayman Kurd, a resident of the Ras al-Amoud neighborhood, was shot and critically maimed during the attack, police said.

IDF raids Palestinian publisher, seizes ‘inciting material’, arrest 10 across West Bank
[IsraelTimes] In overnight raids across West Bank, security forces arrest 10 terror suspects, uncover guns, cash and pipe bomb.

Israeli security forces descended on a Paleostinian publishing house in the West Bank village of Bani Na’im overnight Sunday-Monday, confiscating equipment, propaganda for a Fatah terror organization as well as material that incited violence against Israelis, the IDF said in a statement Monday.

The raids came in response to a sharp uptick in terror attacks in recent days, specifically Friday’s car-ramming attack outside the Kiryat Arba settlement next to Hebron, the army said.

Flags of the Fatah terror wing, office equipment and "inciting materials" found at the Hebron-area publishing house were seized by the IDF and Israel Police.

In the nearby villages of Sa’ir and Beit Ummar, Israeli troops searched the homes of Paleostinian assailants who recently perpetrated attacks against Israelis in an effort "to prevent the forming of additional attackers."

In separate overnight raids across the West Bank, security forces also uncovered two guns, a pipe bomb and thousands of shekels in cash. They also jugged

10 Paleostinian terror suspects.

A search of a home in a village near Bethlehem turned up a handgun, a makeshift rifle, a pipe bomb and more than NIS 130,000 ($3,500) in cash, which, according to the army, were being held in preparation for a terror attack.

Three of the men arrested were described as Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood, members, and one was said to belong to the Paleostinian Islamic Jihad
...created after many members of the Egyptian Moslem Brotherhood decided the organization was becoming too moderate. Operations were conducted out of Egypt until 1981 when the group was exiled after the assassination of President Anwar Sadat. group.

Another six were detained for "terrorist activities and violent riots against citizens and security forces," the army said.

The suspects, seized cash and weapons were handed over to security forces for further investigation.

French intelligence officers crack the Telegram account of a notorious ISIS recruiter – leading to the arrests of 10 teenagers in a month
[DailyMail] The encrypted messaging account of a jihadist, believed to be a 'key instigator' of hundreds of ISIS recruits, has been cracked by French intelligence, according to reports.

Extremist Rachid Kassim, 29, originally from a town north of Lyon, runs a 'public jihadist channel' on Telegram, a secure messaging app, where he offers guidance on how to carry out attacks in private chats.

He is suspected of ordering or inciting the killing of a police couple in their home in June and the murder of an elderly priest in a Normandy church in July, police sources said.

The child carer's account, on which he has 317 followers, has led to dozens of arrests, the Daily Telegraph reported - among them, ten teenagers in a month.

Kassim's precise role is under investigation, but he is believed to have become a key instigator who directs recruits in encrypted forums on how and where to carry out the Islamic State

USPSA Shooter, NRA Instructor Shot, Killed Somali Man on Stabbing Rampage
As we say at the range: "Good shootin.'"

Jason Falconer is the man who shot and killed the 22-year-old Somali maniac who went on a stabbing spree at a mall in St. Cloud, Minnesota, on Saturday.

Falconer is the owner of Tactical Advantage, a shooting range and tactical training facility. He was also formerly the police chief of the Albany (MN) Police Department and is still a part-time police officer. Falconer is an NRA instructor and a member of the United States Practical Shooting Association, a competitive pistol shooting association.

The media will not tell you those things. Bob Owens at Bearing Arms writes: "But Falconer has consistently been identified in the mainstream media only as as a 'former police chief' and 'off-duty police officer.'"

You can always count on the media to hush up any stories that follow the "good guy with a gun stops bad guy with a gun" narrative. Especially when the good guy trains other good guys.

Africa Subsaharan
Eight Killed in Boko Haram Attack in NE Nigeria
[AnNahar] At least eight people were killed outside a church in a suspected Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
attack carried out by gunnies on bicycles in northeast Nigeria
... a particularly crimson stretch of Islam's bloody border...
, local residents said on Monday.

The attack happened shortly after morning service on Sunday in Kwamjilari village, about 30 kilometers (19 miles) east of the town of Chibok, in Borno state.

"Some of the worshipers remained around the church and the gunnies opened fire and eight men died," said Luka Damina, from nearby Kautikeri village, where locals fled.
The new guy promised to lead a kinder, gentler Boko Haram that no longer attacked fellow Muslims. He pledged to turn his attention to attacking Christians instead.
"Unknown to the residents, the gunnies had stationed some of their comrades on the road leading out of the village and they shot anyone who tried to flee.

"Many people ran into the bush with gunshot wounds. But so far we can only confirm eight deaths."

The attackers set fire to homes and fields of maize that were almost ready for harvest, according to a local chief in Kautikeri, who also said eight people were killed.
Idiots. Sure, the Christians will go hungry, but now so will the Boko boys, as there will be no crops to steal.
The chief said soldiers were later deployed to Kwamjilari from Chibok -- the scene of a notorious kidnapping in 2014 when more than 200 schoolgirls were seized.

A similar attack in the area last month left 10 people dead and saw 13 others kidnapped, while homes were looted and set on fire.

Suspected Boko Haram militants kill six in northern Nigeria ambush

[Ynet] Suspected members of the Islamist krazed killer group Boko Haram killed six people in an attack on a commercial convoy being escorted by the army in Nigeria's northeastern state of Borno, the military said on Monday.

Nigerian army front man Sani Usman said suspected elements of the group who were foraging for food had ambushed troops escorting the commercial vehicles from Damboa to Maiduguri, a journey of around 50 miles (80 km).

Bangladesh
Philippine central bank ordered to return recovered BB heist money
[Dhaka Tribune] A Philippine regional trial court has ordered the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) to return to the Bangladesh central bank a recovered portion of the $81m that was stolen from the bank earlier this year, a government lawyer said on Monday.

The court has declared Bangladesh as the rightful owner of the funds, totaling $15m, Ricardo Paras III, chief state counsel of the Philippines’ Department of Justice, said while reading a copy of the court’s ruling to a Rooters news hound.

Unknown hackers tried to steal nearly $1bn from the Bangladesh central bank’s account at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York in early February, and succeeded in transferring $81m to four accounts at Rizal Commercial Banking Corp in Manila.

During a Philippine Senate hearing into the heist which ended in May, a casino junket operator claimed to have received $35m of the stolen funds but only returned $15m. It is not clear what happened to the remainder of the money.

Bangladesh had to file a petition staking its claim to the money before it could be turned over to them.

"(The) court ordered the release of the cash now in the BSP vault in favor of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh," Paras told Rooters.

Bangladesh is also seeking to recover another $2.7m frozen by the Philippines’ casino regulator.

Turks detain 40 with alleged ISIS links
Turkish counter-terror police detained 40 foreign nationals in raids in Istanbul over their suspected links with ISIS, Turkey’s state-run Anadolu news agency reported on Sunday.

Police carried out simultaneous raids to 23 addresses in Istanbul’s conservative Fatih district detaining suspects from Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq and Azerbaijan, Anadolu said.

Some suspects are identified as having gone to the conflict areas inside Syria several times, Anadolu said.

Turkey has suffered a series of suicide bombings and attacks by ISIS and Kurdish militants over the past year. It launched its first major military incursion into Syria last month to push extremists away from its border and prevent Kurdish fighters from seizing territory as they retreated.

At least seven suspected suicide bombings across Turkey since July 2015, which have killed more than 250 people, have been blamed on ISIS.

A network of suspected Turkish ISIS militants is responsible for at least two of the attacks, Turkish prosecutors have said in legal documents, while foreign members of the group were accused of being behind the suicide bombing at Istanbul Ataturk airport in June.

Kenya: Italian Trampled to Death By Elephant in Kenya
[All Africa] An Italian tourist was trampled to death by an elephant in a Kenyan national park while trying to get a good picture, police said.

"He was attacked not far from his tent while photographing it," a police officer who asked not to be named told AFP.

The man, who was 66, "sustained serious injuries and died before he could be taken to hospital", he added.

The accident occurred at Swara camp in the Tsavo National Park, near the Kenyan coast, and was confirmed by the city of Malindi's police chief Muchangi Mutawa, who did not provide more details.

The police source said the tourist had moved from his tent close to the elephant to take a photograph of the jumbo, which was near the Sabaki River.

Jumbo certainly buggered the book deal.

said Monday.

Biden, speaking at the Social Good Summit in New York, said he was impressed by first responders' intrepidness following the attacks, and that Americans will remain strong in the face of terror.

During the course of the weekend, there were multiple attacks across America.

The weekend terror spree was capped off Monday afternoon with a shoot out in Linden, New Jersey and the capture of Ahmad Rahami. He is now a suspect in the New York and New Jersey bombings.

NYC bombing: Suspect Rahami 'may have been radicalised after visiting Afghanistan'
Paragraph cherry-picked from article:
[The Telegraph] Mike Rogers, former congressman, and former chairman of the House intelligence committee, said: "No way he did this all by himself. The odds of this one person acting alone is infinitesimally small. "Normally the way this works, you have a cell doing logistics, bomb-making and assembly, and an operational one. Even if you merge those into one small cell you had to have lots of activity going into both locations."
He simply can't stay away from the action. Care to tell us about the Benghazi 'cells', Congressman? No-bid US Embassy security contracts? The UK's Aeigis Security?

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
ISIS troops launch offensive on Homs oilfield
HOMS – Militant fighters of the Islamic State (ISIS) launched an offensive on a regime-held oilfield in Syria’s central Homs province on Monday.

ISIS fighters bombed Syrian army headquarters in the vicinity of Jazal oilfield with mortar fire, killing and wounding dozens of soldiers.

“The Islamic State fighters attacked an army base near Jazal oilfield east of Homs. The base was exposed to bombardment with dozens of mortar shells on Monday evening,” local media activist Khalid Abdullah Safar told ARA News.

At least 18 Syrian soldiers were killed and dozens more wounded in the ISIS-led attack.

However, supported by a Russian air cover, the pro-regime forces were able to repel the attack.

“Russian fighter jets targeted ISIS positions in eastern Homs with a number of airstrikes, forcing the group to withdraw,” Safar reported.

Speaking to ARA News, a Syrian army officer said that ISIS militants were trying to take control of the Jazal oilfield “after losing other oil facilities to the Syrian army, such as al-Shaer oilfield in Homs which has been recently liberated by the army forces”.

“The terrorist group is launching such offensives on our army bases from time to time, with a hope to take over strategic areas. But our forces are fully prepared for such attacks. They [ISIS militants] will keep failing until they give up,” the official said.

China-Japan-Koreas
US, Japan, ROK discuss tougher measures against North Korea
Foreign ministers for the United States, Japan and South Korea met in New York on Sunday, ahead of U.N. meetings, to discuss stepped-up measures against North Korea and expand collaboration with one another after Pyongyang's fifth and largest nuclear test, Reuters reported.

The Sept. 9 blast was in defiance of U.N. sanctions that were tightened in March.

The meeting between U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, Japanese Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida and their South Korean counterpart, Yun Byung-se, was the first since the latest nuclear test. It will be one of the main issues discussed by world leaders at the United Nations General Assembly this week. In a joint statement, the ministers said North North's disregard for multiple U.N. resolutions prohibiting its missile and nuclear programs called for even stronger international pressure.
Then they had lunch.
"They discussed the important work currently taking place in the Security Council to further sanction North Korea and considered other possible measures of their own, in particular ways to further restrict revenue sources for the DPRK's missile and nuclear programs, including through illicit activities," the ministers' statement said.

"They reaffirmed that they remain open to credible and authentic talks aimed at full and verifiable denuclearization of the DPRK," the statement said, referring to the country's formal name, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
Why wasn't this done a decade ago?
Washington has pressed Beijing, which is Pyongyang's most important diplomatic backer and trading partner, to do more to rein in North Korea. China has expressed anger with North Korea for its largest nuclear test to date, but has not said directly whether it will support tougher sanctions. It has said it believes sanctions are not the ultimate answer and called for a return to talks.
That's because the Norks continue to do China's bidding, which is to destabilize northeast Asia.

Afghanistan
U.S. airstrike targets Taliban, allegedly kills Afghan cops
[CBSNEWS] An Afghan official says at least eight Afghan coppers have been killed in two U.S. Arclight airstrikes in southern Uruzgan province in what was apparently a friendly-fire incident.

Rahimullah Khan, a provincial operational commander, says the first Arclight airstrike killed one policeman at a checkpoint outside the picturesque provincial capital of Tirin Kot, while the second, which struck the same area, killed seven others.

Khan says the Arclight airstrikes took place on Sunday afternoon around Tirin Kot. The Taliban have been advancing on the city in recent weeks.

A U.S. military front man confirmed that U.S. forces carried out an Arclight airstrike, saying they sought to assist Afghan troops who were fired on by the Taliban.

Brig. Gen. Charles Cleveland, kept in touch with the world by Obamaphone,
...was ruled by a Democrat machine from 1942 through 1971. After the river caught fire during the administration of Carl Stokes they tried a Republican, then went back to being Democrats when the party hacked up Dennis Kucinich ...
says he doesn’t "have any further information" on who the casualties may have been.

Tirin Kot is the third Afghan picturesque provincial capital that has come under Taliban threat recently, along with the city of Kunduz in the north and Lashkar Gah in southern Helmand

province.

U.S. Arclight airstrikes around the city were reported quickly after Talibs laid siege to Tirin Kot at the beginning of September.

At a September briefing attended by CBS News, an American commander with the U.S.-led Resolute Force mission in Afghanistan said the Taliban would not be permitted to completely overtake any picturesque provincial capitals in the country.

Soddy security forces uncover 4 ISIS attack plots
Saudi authorities have arrested three cells linked to the ISIS terrorist group, the official Saudi Press Agency (SPA) cited the Spokesman of Ministry of Interior on Monday.

Following months of monitoring terrorist threats jeopardizing the Kingdom’s security, security forces have arrested 17 people affiliated with ISIS. The 17 detainees include 13 Saudis, an Egyptian, a Yemeni, a Palestinian and a woman who participated in implementing terrorist schemes.

The competent forces had launched a multi-stage security operation that led to the thwarting four attacks planned by the cells targeting citizens, religious scholars, security forces, military and economic facilities in different locations as well as religious sites in al-Ahsa and security headquarters linked to the defense and interior ministries.

According to the SPA, the members of this network have been active in the preparation and processing of explosive belts and explosive devices to be used in their criminal operations, providing logistical support such as shelter to wanted people, and providing them with money, weapons and means of transport inside the Kingdom, monitoring the targeted sites, providing electronic and media support for the organization, and communicating with its leaders abroad in all their activities.

The Saudi Ministry of Interior also revealed that a number of the arrested had links to other crimes that took place in the past. One of the arrested cells had provided refuge to those who carried out the explosion of Imam al-Rida Mosque in al-Ahsa and had also been involved in blowing up a military personnel’s car in Riyadh, assisting in the assassination of a Saudi officer and targeting a security post on al-Haer road in Riyadh.

Houthis hitting Taiz with artillery
Taiz-Chief of operations in Taiz’s Military Council Colonel Abdulaziz al-Majidi told Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper that hostilities are going on in most of the fighting fronts in Taiz, noting that Houthi and Saleh rebel militias are continuously bombing neighborhoods in Taiz and villages of the province.

Majidi said that the militias are irrationally laying landmines in the countryside, cities, main roads and neighborhoods.

He added that confrontations in Taiz, As Silw and Hayfan are ongoing.

In the past two days the national army and popular resistance forces foiled more than one attack by these militias against the army and resistance sites in As Slw front.

Militias were trying to cut roads that link between Aden and Taiz, yet forces were able to kill the commander of these militias, according to Majidi.

He added: “Militias were still trying to return and control the region, but army and resistance forces have been countering them consistently; forces were also able to kill many militants in Houthi and Saleh militias.”

The colonel called the legislative government and coalition leadership to work fast to end the situation in Taiz militarily and get rid of these terrorist gangs, who he describes as “the rivals of God and Islam.”

For his part, Spokesman for the military council in Taiz Col. Gen. Mansour al- Hassani accused Houthi and ousted Saleh’s militias of displacing citizens living west and south Taiz in light of odd silence from humanitarian organizations and international bodies.

This comes at a time when battles continue at all fronts accompanied by violent shelling by Houthi militias.

Moreover, Coalition air forces have intensified their flights over Taiz and have carried out airstrikes on coup militia’s sites and gatherings; thus, inflicting damages and losses in their militants and equipment.

Kenya will not reverse decision to close Dadaab refugee camp
Kenya will not reverse its decision to close down the Dadaab refugee camp and repatriate refugees, Interior PS Karanja Kibicho has said. Dadaab, the world’s largest refugee camp, hosts about 350,000 refugees, mainly from Somalia.

Kibicho said the camp has been harbouring terrorist, who have attacked various parts of the country, especially the Coast. The PS said every terror attack has had its roots from the camp, hence the decision to close it.

Kibicho spoke on Friday in Mombasa. He said the camp will be closed by November 30. “We have lived with them for about 25 years. It’s time for them to go, because most strikes have been planned from there,” Kibicho said.
So they've been acting like Palestinians...
He said it is the responsibility of the government to protect its citizens and borders from “external vicious force”. Kibicho said some Kenyans, who have been living in the camp and masquerading as refugees, will be investigated.

The PS said the repatriation will be done in a humane manner. “They will be taken to Somali and Kakuma camp. Some nations like the US have expressed interest in hosting some of them,” he said. Last month, the UN refugee agency said more than 24,000 Somali refugees have returned home.

UNHCR country deputy representative Wella Kouyou said this year alone, more than 18,000 refugees have been repatriated. He said the UNHCR will work closely with the Kenya and Somali governments to ensure the refugees repatriation is not only voluntary, but is also done in a dignified manner.
Why does it need to be voluntary? If the situation in a decent part of Somalia is such that they can go home, they go home. The UNHCR can run a camp inside Somalia if they wish...
Kibicho also said all the 10 police stations in Mombasa will be fenced by December to reduce risks of attack. He said the OCSs will forward the budget for erection of perimeter walls at the stations.

“We had a security meeting and one of the issues was the safety of the stations. I can assure you that it will be sorted out by December,” Kibicho said.

Judge gives Foggy Bottom tongue-lashing over HRC classification training records
[Politico] A federal judge lashed out at the State Department Monday over what he charged was foot-dragging over Freedom of Information Act requests relating to Hillary Clinton's service as secretary of state.

"You have a client that to say the least, is not impressing the judges on this court, myself included...It is in your client’s interest to start being more obviously cooperative," U.S. District Court Judge Richard Leon warned Justice Department lawyers representing State during a brief hearing Monday." The State Department is at risk of being perceived as obstreperous. [They] need to get with the program."
The 10-minute hearing around noontime Monday took place on a suit for records on how -- and if -- Clinton and her aides were trained to handle classified information. State had proposed a deadline of October 17 to produce about 450 unclassified documents relating to the training issue sought by the Daily Caller News Foundation.

However, Leon ordered the diplomatic agency to complete processing and disclosure of those records by October 10. He also said State must produce the records in three installments "of comparable size" and can't leave the bulk of the records to the last batch.

Bill Clinton: 'It's Hard' To Think About Leaving Foundation
[NPR.ORG] Bill Clinton

says that out of the hundreds of thousands of donors to the Clinton Foundation over the past 18 years, there must have been some people who gave to the foundation to gain influence with him and his wife.
"All that money! Shut off! Is there any solution? Is there any meaning to the word 'is'?"
But the former president told NPR that doesn't mean any donors received anything improperly.

"It was natural for people who've been our political allies and personal friends to call and ask for things. And I trusted the State Department wouldn't do anything they shouldn't do," Clinton told Steve Inskeep in an interview broadcast Monday on Morning Edition.

Clinton is kicking off the final gathering of the Clinton Global Initiative in New York, where heads of state, humanitarians, scientists and other accomplished or influential individuals come together to formulate solutions to global problems.

Yemeni president moves central bank from Sanaa to Aden
[AA.TR] Yemeni President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi on Sunday sacked the governor of the country’s central bank and ordered that the institution be relocated from capital Sanaa to Aden.

In a decree, Hadi appointed his finance minister, Munser al-Quaiti, as new central bank governor, replacing Mohammed Awad bin Hammam, according to Yemen’s official SABA news agency.

He also reshuffled the bank’s board of directors.

The Yemeni leader also ordered that the bank be relocated from Sanaa -- which since late 2014 has been held by the Shia Houthi

Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. militia and its allies -- to the southern port city of Aden, the provisional seat of Hadi’s embattled government.

The move comes amid an ongoing dispute between Hadi’s government and the Shia group over state finances.

The government accuses the Houthis of exhausting Yemen’s foreign reserves, which have plummeted from $4 billion in early 2015 to a current $1.1 billion.

"This is one of the gravest economic decisions to be taken within the past two years," economist Mustafa Nasr told Anadolu Agency.

The decision, he said, "will have major repercussions in the upcoming period".

Nasr pinned the move’s success on the government’s ability -- and that of Yemen’s Arab Gulf allies -- to adequately resolve the country’s ongoing economic crisis.

militia on Monday exchanged artillery fire in Yemen’s central al-Bayda province, according to a pro-government source.

Abdul Bari al-Humaikani, a front man for the pro-government "popular resistance", alleged that Houthi faceless myrmidons had shelled residential parts of al-Bayda’s Az-Zahir Directorate held by pro-government forces.

"Popular resistance fighters responded to Houthi shelling with artillery and heavy weapons," al-Humaikani told Anadolu Agency by phone, without mentioning whether the shelling had resulted in casualties.

Anadolu Agency, however, was unable to confirm the assertions from either pro-Houthi or independent sources.

For the last two years, the Houthis and their allies have remained in control of most of al-Bayda, which continues to be the site of deadly on-again, off-again festivities between the Shia militia group and forces loyal to President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi.

Miami Beach Police Arrest Mohamed and 2 Others, Pointing Guns at People
MIAMI BEACH (CBSMiami) -- Three men have been arrested after creating a security scare atop a Miami Beach penthouse.

Mohamed Azab Youssef, 39, Artur Schaback, 28, and Ivan Suhharev, 28, were apprehended by Miami Beach Police Friday, September 17th.

Police said Schaback and Suhharev were witnessed aiming an AR-15 rifle off the penthouse balcony at 1100 Collins Avenue, including Schaback wearing a mask over his face.

One caller told 911 they were pointing the firearm towards the busy street at citizens and tourists walking by.

"I did see a handful of different officers with rifles, pistols, shotguns, the whole nine," said witness Chris Clayborne. "It was the real deal."

Imagine arriving to your vacation spot and that’s what you’re greeted with.

"Uber driver drops us off and literally drops us off right on the crime scene. Not sure what’s taking place cops everywhere yellow tape everywhere they’re pushing us away from our hotel we were staying at," Clayborne said.

D.J. Richardson immediately began to regret his reservation for his vacation rental.

"Really started panicking," Richardson said. "I was like, I really don’t feel safe here."

Police said the men snapped photographs as they took turns holding the weapon.

"It sounds like they might have been doing it for the Instagram," Clayborne. "I’m not sure."

Richardson added, "Everyone flexes for Instagram, so that’s probably what he did."

Once SWAT made entry into the unit, they detained four people, including a juvenile.

Inside, they found the rifle, which was equipped with a long-distance scope, and 500 rounds of ammunition.

Cocaine and hashish, as well as drug paraphernalia, were also discovered.

"Our officers quickly saturated the area, established a perimeter... when it was safe to do so, we made entry into that apartment that is connected to the rooftop. Inside there were four males which were immediately detained. We also have recovered an assault rifle within that unit with lots of ammunition," said Ernesto Rodriguez with the Miami Beach Police Department.

Both Schaback and Suhharev confessed to carelessly displaying the weapon, police said, and they were charged with Improper Exhibition of a Firearm.

Youssef admitted the drugs were his and was charged possession and intent to sell.

Police didn’t say whether or not the gun was fired.

The reports prompted police to shut down traffic throughout certain parts of the city as they investigated. Traffic was shut down on Collins Avenue and Washington Avenue between 11th ‐ 12th Street. It was reopened just before 3:30 p.m.

Turkish troops push IS back, liberate more Syria lands
Turkish armed forces have liberated more than 5,000 square kilometers of Syrian territories from the militants of the “Islamic State” (IS, aka ISIS, ISIL or Daesh) terrorist group, the TRT Haber news channel quoted Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan as saying Sept.19.

Erdogan noted that currently, Turkish troops stationed in Syria are moving to the south as part of the ‘Shield of the Euphrates” operation. The ongoing terror in Syria is a problem not only for Damascus, but for the whole world, he added.
Which is why he's clobbering the Kurds...

Muslim migrant boat captain faces murder charges for pushing Christians overboard
[Telegraph] A Cameroonian immigrant has been put on trial in Spain for the murder of six fellow occupants of a flimsy migrant boat because of their Christian religious beliefs.

Survivors of the hellish 2014 crossing from Morocco to the southern shore of Spain described how the accused, the Muslim captain of the inflatable craft identified as Alain N. B., blamed Christian passengers for the onset of a storm and forced six men off the boat to a certain death.

According to some of the 29 survivors from the more than 50 sub-Saharan migrants who boarded the boat near Nador, northern Morocco, the accused “blamed the rough seas which were rocking the boat on the prayers led by a Catholic pastor on board”.

Witnesses told investigators that the captain and his second in command, another Cameroonian man who died in Spain before the trial began, “believed that the weather worsened every time the victims prayed”.

According to testimony, the two Cameroonians used planks of wood they ripped from the rigid structure of the boat to beat the Nigerian pastor.

“They badly wounded him before throwing him overboard”, the public prosecutor wrote before the start of the trial in Almería.

The two men searched passengers for amulets or Christian symbols concealed under their clothing and similarly attacked at least five other migrants, all of whom are assumed to have drowned.

According to the prosecution, Alain N. B. “was aware that the victims could not possibly survive and that they would die, either by drowning, from the cold, or from the physical injuries they had suffered. He was aware of the low temperature, the rough seas and the great distance from the coast and the absence of any nearby boats which could rescue them”.

The prosecutor has asked for six separate terms of 15 years for murder with the aggravating factor of “religious motivation”, amounting to a 90-year sentence.

Only one body which may have belonged to a victim was found washed ashore.

On December 5, 2014, sea-rescue services in Almería found 29 survivors on board the 10-metre-long inflatable craft drifting without a motor. At least 21 people had perished during the crossing which had been hit by high winds and rough seas, including some seven babies whose mothers had been unable to hold onto their bundles.

The survivors, all sub-Saharan Africans, were given psychological assistance with their trauma, but suspicions about the two Cameroonians emerged when some of the migrants appeared afraid to talk about what had happened.

The two Cameroonians were found to be carrying €1,500 in cash, the same sum that witnesses said they had found on their victims before forcing them overboard.

The trial is expected to last several days.

Ali Haidar Gilani was released earlier in the month fo May this year and was handed over to the Pak authorities following his release in Afghanistan.

Addressing a presser in Multan, Gillani said that he had informed Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif

Gilani further added that he had gone out after hearing gun shots and subsequently was kidnapped. He added that he was taken to Faisalabad

by his kidnappers.

In a counterterrorism operation targeting al-Qaeda operatives, the partnered team freed Ali Haider who had been held hostage since he was kidnapped three years ago in Pakistain, the US Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter said following his release.

Hailing the Afghan and US special forces for the successful operation, Carter said "We will work with the governments of Afghanistan and Pakistain to return him home safely after he receives a medical evaluation."

Ali Haidar was kidnapped by gunnies during an attack in Farrkhabad, near the Matital Road in Multan, in May 2013.

His two associates were killed during the kidnapping which took place on 9th May as he was contesting for the general election from PPP-200 constituency in Multan.

The family of Gilani is reported to be one of the most powerful in the central town of Multan and a key clan in the PPP, whose campaign for re-election had been dramatically curtailed by Tehrik-e-Taliban threats at the time.

Bangladesh
Funds for Gulshan, Sholakia attacks came from Middle East
[Dhaka Tribune] Police are now certain that the money used to finance the deadly terror attacks in Gulshan, Dhaka and Sholakia, Mymensingh came from the Middle East, said Additional Commissioner Monirul Islam, chief of police’s Counterterrorism and Transnational Crimes (CTTC) unit.

Speaking at a press briefing at Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Media Centre yesterday afternoon, he said the money came to Bangladesh via hundi transactions and the person who received it has been identified.

Police are also confirmed that the firearms used in the attacks entered Bangladesh through the Indian border, but they have yet to determine the source country, the CTTC chief said.

Asked about the source of the money, Monirul said they are not sure whether it originated from the Middle East, or someone from here sent it to the Middle East and had it sent back in order to throw off suspicion.

During investigation, police learnt about a single transaction of around Tk14 lakh
...lakh translates as 100,000, so that's 1.4 million Bangladeshi Taka, and 1 Bangkadeshi Taka = US$0.0128, so about US$17,920...
which was mostly spent to buy guns and renting flats for the attackers, he said.

Names of bandidos snuffies Rajib Gandhi, Marjan and Basharuzzaman also came up during investigation; police are looking for them.

Monirul said Rajib Gandhi alias Shubhash Gandhi alias Shanto, whose real identity has not been confirmed yet, is a commander of the new faction of Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) in the northern region of the country who supplied with two experienced attackers in Gulshan and one in Sholakia.

Police have yet to ascertain whether Holey Artisan Bakery chef Saiful Islam Chowkidar and waiting staff Jakir Hossain Shaon, both of whom died in the attack, were involved with the attackers as no evidence of their involvement has been found yet.

Meawhile, police sources said they had information that two local businesses ‐ Al Sakina Catering House in Uttara, Dhaka and Biswas Hatcheries in Mymensingh ‐ supposedly provided money to Tamim Ahmed Chowdhury, the criminal criminal mastermind of Gulshan attack.

An employee of Biswas Hatcheries was a close acquaintance of Tamim’s and gave him Tk50,000
... so Tk50,000 is a bit less than $640 if I didn't mislay something critical...
per month for a few months, the sources said. Police are now looking for this employee.

Besides, Tanveer Quaderi, who did away with himself to avoid arrest during Azimpur raid, allegedly had a flat in Uttara which he sold to finance militancy, the sources added.

However,
there's more than one way to stuff a chicken...
none of this information has been confirmed by the officials of police.

Africa North
Libya: Haftar Forces Repel GNA Militaries’ Attempts to Retake Oil Crescent
[North Africa Post] Libyan National Army (LNA) forces, led by military veteran Khalifa Haftar
... served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969. He became a prisoner of war in Chad in 1987. While held prisoner, he and his fellow officers formed a group hoping to overthrow Qadaffy. He was released around 1990 in a deal with the United States government and spent nearly two decades in the United States, gaining US citizenship. In 1993, while living in the United States, he was convicted in absentia of crimes against the Jamahiriya and sentenced to death. Haftar held a senior position in the anti-Qadaffy forces in the 2011 Libyan Civil War. In 2014 he was commander of the Libyan Army when the General National Congress (GNC) refused to give up power in accordance with its term of office. Haftar launched a campaign against the GNC and its Islamic fundamentalist allies. His campaign allowed elections to take place to replace the GNC, but then developed into a civil war. Guess you can't win them all...
, Sunday pushed back attempts by the Petroleum Facilities Guard (PFG) to re-take two oil ports that they had lost several days ago, reports say.

LNA released pictures of destroyed vehicles, claiming they belong to the PFG, Libya Herald reports.

PFG, commanded by Ibrahim Jadhran, an ally of the Libyan Government of National Accord (GNA), launched attacks early Sunday to re-take Ras Lanuf and Sidra oil ports seized on September 11.

Haftar’s forces, reportedly aided by UAE and Egyptian fighter jets, launched Arclight airstrikes against GNA-backed forces. Ground forces were also used, reports further say.

Injured fighters in the PFG camp were reportedly sent to Misrata hospital. Some other fighters have been incarcerated
Don't shoot, coppers! I'm comin' out!
and held captives by Haftar’s men.

LNA forces announced one week ago control of Libya’s main oil ports formerly under the control of the PFG. The LNA and its political wing, the House of Representatives (HoR), placed the oil crescent under the control of the National Oil Corporation (NOC), which welcomed the LNA’s military action and quickly announced export of the Libyan oil.

The move caused waves in Western capitals, which called for the immediate retreat of Haftar’s forces.

GNA minister of defence Colonel Ahmed al-Gatrani condemned the Sunday aerial attacks against the PFG.

More from Al-Arabiya
Eastern Libyan forces said they had reestablished control over two oil ports where an ousted faction launched a counter-attack on Sunday, briefly seizing one of the terminals.

The ports of Es Sider and Ras Lanuf were among four seized by forces lead by eastern commander Khalifa Haftar of the Libyan National Army (LNA) on Sept. 11-12 from a Petroleum Facilities Guard (PFG) faction led by Ibrahim Jathran.

The fighting came as the state-run National Oil Corporation (NOC) prepared to restart oil exports from the ports, blockaded for several years.

The NOC said the Maltese-flagged Seadelta, which had been loading from storage at Ras Lanuf had withdrawn to a safe distance, but that it hoped normal operations would resume by Monday morning. The Seadelta was the first tanker to dock there for some two years.

LNA spokesman Ahmed al-Mismari said forces lead by Haftar had repelled an attack at Ras Lanuf with the help of air strikes, and were pursuing Jathran forces fleeing from Es Sider, where they had taken control earlier in the day.

A Libyan oil industry source confirmed that the LNA controlled both oil ports.

The clashes raise fears of a new conflict over Libya’s oil resources. Jathran’s PFG had aligned itself with a U.N.-backed government in Tripoli, while Haftar is a divisive figure whose opponents accuse of trying to establish military rule.

Fighting and political disputes have reduced oil output in the North African country to a fraction of the 1.6 million barrels per day the OPEC member produced before a 2011 uprising.

Islamic State, Pakistani Taliban faction say kill three soldiers in Pakistan
[REUTERS] Three Pak soldiers were killed in an ambush in the northwestern city of Beautiful Downtown Peshawar
...capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (formerly known as the North-West Frontier Province), administrative and economic hub for the Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan. Peshawar is situated near the eastern end of the Khyber Pass, convenient to the Pak-Afghan border. Peshawar has evolved into one of Pakistan's most ethnically and linguistically diverse cities, which means lots of gunfire.
on Sunday, bandidos forces of Evil said, in an attack for which both Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
and a Pak Taliban faction grabbed credit.

Militants said they ambushed an unmarked vehicle ferrying soldiers on Sunday morning near the congested Daudzai area of Peshawar. Military sources confirmed the attack but said the killed men were army employees and not soldiers.

The Pakistain army often uses unmarked vehicles for transportation of soldiers and other employees in volatile areas around Peshawar to avoid being identified and attacked.

"They were traveling in a civil van when unknown gunnies shot up them," said a security official who declined to be named. "Three of them was struck down in his prime."

Pakistain's military this month declared that it had foiled Islamic State's attempts to establish operations in the country. But the group's Amaq news agency said Islamic State was behind the ambush, also claimed by Jamaat-ur-Ahrar, an offshoot of the Islamist bad boy Pak Taliban group.

Jamaat-ur-Ahrar, which carried out the Easter Sunday bombing in Lahore in which 70 people were killed, at one time swore fealty to Islamic State's Middle East leadership, but later switched back to the Taliban.

The two groups also both grabbed credit for a suicide kaboom at a hospital in the Pak city of Quetta that killed 74 people last month.

Pakistain's military said on Sept. 1 it had tossed in the calaboose
Keep yer hands where we can see 'em, if yez please!
more than 300 Islamic State bandidos forces of Evil and sympathizers, thwarting the ultra-hardline group's attempts to expand there.

But concern has been growing that Islamic State - which controls parts of Iraq and Syria and is known for especially brutal treatment of religious minorities - might replicate their model in Pakistain, especially after Islamic State loyalists seized small pieces of territory in neighboring Afghanistan.

On Friday, Pak authorities said they arrested four Islamic State bandidos forces of Evil plotting attacks in the city of Lahore. The four men had 1.6 kg (3.5 lb) of explosives as well as fuses and detonators, officials said.

Syrian forces pound Aleppo as government declares end to cease-fire
[WASHINGTONPOST] Syria’s military declared the end of a nationwide cease-fire Monday, blaming rebel groups for violating the truce and dealing a blow to U.S. and Russian efforts to halt the bloodshed.

Government forces immediately began shelling the rebel-held part of Aleppo, which has been under siege for more than a month. Airstrikes and barrel bombs pummeled the city, and activists said an aid convoy in the nearby countryside was also hit.

"We are hearing the same reports, and we are trying to verify them now," David Swanson, a front man for the U.N. Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, said of the accounts.

Earlier Monday, the U.N. had helped deliver assistance with other aid agencies in the area, near Big Orem in Aleppo province, Swanson said.

Secretary of State John F. Kerry also alluded to the alleged strike on the aid trucks.

Merkel admits she would turn back the clock on refugee policy
[FT] Angela Merkel
...current chancellor of Germany. She was educated in East Germany when is was still run by commies, but in 1989 got involved with the growing democracy movement when the Berlin Wall fell. Merkel is sometimes referred to by Germans as Mom...
on Monday admitted she would turn back the clock, if she could, on her refugee policy after her Christian Democrat party suffered a historic defeat in the Berlin regional elections.

As she made a rare public expression of regret over her most contentious policy, the chancellor abandoned the calm self-confidence she has radiated since extending a fateful welcome last summer to thousands of mainly Middle Eastern refugees.

"If I could, I would rewind time by many, many years so that I could better prepare myself and the whole government and all those in positions of responsibility for the situation that caught us unprepared in the late summer of 2015," Ms Merkel said.

The chancellor also distanced herself from her phrase -- "Wir schaffen das -- we can do it" -- which captured Germans’ belief last summer in their capacity to integrate the newly arrived refugees. She said it had become "a simple slogan, almost an empty formula" that underestimated the scale of the integration challenge.

The admission was aimed at winning back voters who have flocked to the rightwing, populist Alternative for Germany party, which has made big inroads this year by criticising Ms Merkel’s open-door approach to refugees. She was also responding to the growing ranks of conservative critics in her ruling CDU/CSU bloc, who have urged her to complement recent moves to tighten refugee policy with a more self-critical tone.

Lions of Islam recruit more fighters as kabooms in New York and New Jersey made national security a top concern on the U.S. presidential campaign trail.

Clinton said Trump's rhetoric against what he calls "radical Islamic terrorism" is helping Islamic State, also known by the acronym ISIS.

"We know that a lot of the rhetoric we've heard from Donald Trump has been seized on by terrorists, in particular ISIS, because they are looking to make this into a war against Islam rather than a war against jihadists," she told news hounds in White Plains, New York.

The Trump campaign responded by saying Clinton bears some responsibility for the violence by not persuading Obama to leave a residual force of U.S. troops in Iraq when she was his secretary of state from 2009 to 2013.

Obama and the Iraqi government failed to reach agreement at the end of 2011 on extending a U.S.-Iraqi status of forces agreement, and most American troops were withdrawn.

Trump has sought to tie Clinton to the decisions of the B.O. regime.

"Hillary Clinton's weakness while she was secretary of state has emboldened bully boyz all over the world to attack the U.S., even on our own soil. They are hoping and praying that Hillary Clinton becomes president so that they can continue their savagery and murder," Trump said on Facebook. He did not give specifics.

Health and social welfare officials from ARMM joined employees of the provincial government in providing thousands of locals -- mostly evacuees -- with free services such as medical consultation and check-ups, while also distributing hygiene kits and food supplies.

China facing full-blown banking crisis?
China has failed to curb excesses in its credit system and faces mounting risks of a full-blown banking crisis, according to early warning indicators released by the world’s top financial watchdog.

A key gauge of credit vulnerability is now three times over the danger threshold and has continued to deteriorate, despite pledges by Chinese premier Li Keqiang to wean the economy off debt-driven growth before it is too late.

The Bank for International Settlements warned in its quarterly report that China’s "credit to GDP gap" has reached 30.1, the highest to date and in a different league altogether from any other major country tracked by the institution. It is also significantly higher than the scores in East Asia's speculative boom on 1997 or in the US subprime bubble before the Lehman crisis.

Studies of earlier banking crises around the world over the last sixty years suggest that any score above ten requires careful monitoring. The credit to GDP gap measures deviations from normal patterns within any one country and therefore strips out cultural differences.

It is based on work the US economist Hyman Minsky and has proved to be the best single gauge of banking risk, although the final denouement can often take longer than assumed. Indicators for what would happen to debt service costs if interest rates rose 250 basis points are also well over the safety line.

China’s total credit reached 255pc of GDP at the end of last year, a jump of 107 percentage points over eight years. This is an extremely high level for a developing economy and is still rising fast .

Outstanding loans have reached $28 trillion, as much as the commercial banking systems of the US and Japan combined. The scale is enough to threaten a worldwide shock if China ever loses control. Corporate debt alone has reached 171pc of GDP, and it is this that is keeping global regulators awake at night.

#5  It doesn't have to be a crash. It can manifest as a long slow slide.

The thing about China is that there is huge amounts of middle class money chasing too few real investment opportunities, and much of goes into what are little more than leveraged ponzi schemes. Everyone will rush for the exits at the same time, and default on loans at the same time.

The government will flood the system with printed money, but that will crash the Yuan, making everyone else very unhappy.

Indonesian Security Forces Capture and Kill Top Islamic State Commanders
[FRONTERANEWS] Indonesian security forces captured Muhammad Basri, the suspected leader of the East Indonesia Mujahedeen (MIT), an Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
-linked turban group, on 14 September.

Operating under the alias Bagong, Basri was caught in a joint operation run by the local police and military in Poso on Sulawesi Island.

Less than two month ago in July, Indonesia’s most wanted terrorist, Santoso, then leader of the MIT, was killed in a shootout with troops in a targeted mission. Also known as "Abu Wardah," police and military forces had been conducting an intense manhunt for him for over five years.

Both the capture of Basri and the killing of Santoso were carried out under Operation Tinombala, which has resulted in the deployment of more than 3,500 soldiers and coppers in Poso since January. Indonesia’s newly appointed national police chief, General Tito Karnavian, said security personnel are still searching for Ali Kalora, who is the third in command in the group.

MIT is responsible for a number of deadly attacks on domestic security forces, and is believed to maintain a network of trained gunnies around the Indonesian archipelago. In November 2015, MIT uploaded a nine-minute video online that called for attacks on the Jakarta police headquarters and the presidential palace.

Ali Fauzi Manzi, a deradicalized former turban who was the younger brother of the two architects of the 2002 Bali suicide kaboom, said in July that "certainly the target of the group [MIT] is the police and the military, because of their anti-terror operation [in Poso]."

Recent military successes have helped quell concern in Indonesia that MIT could evolve into a force comparable with the Abu Sayyaf
...also known as al-Harakat al-Islamiyya, an Islamist terror group based in Jolo, Basilan and Zamboanga. Since its inception in the early 1990s, the group has carried out bombings, kidnappings, murders, head choppings, and extortion in their uniquely Islamic attempt to set up an independent Moslem province in the Philippines. Abu Sayyaf forces probably number less than 300 cadres. The group is closely allied with remnants of Indonesia's Jemaah Islamiya and has loose ties with MILF and MNLF who sometimes provide cannon fodder...

However,
a woman is only as old as she admits...
myriad bully boyz cells have cropped up much further afield than Poso, and even beyond the archipelago. Most notably, it is believed that an Indonesian turban by the name of Bahrun Naim is directing attacks in Southeast Asia from IS’s stronghold of Raqqa, Syria. Naim’s network of gunnies is be based in his hometown of Surakarta (also known as Solo), a historic royal capital on the island of Java, which has become a breeding ground for gunnies in recent years. The city of 800,000 is also the hometown of Indonesian President Joko Widodo.

[Libya Observer] Dignity Operation militias arbitrarily locked away

several opponents in the eastern town of Ajdabiya, days after taking over major oil terminals in the region.

Media outlets said the crackdown on Dignity Operation opponents is carried out by militia groups loyal to Khalifa Haftar
... served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969.
"Around 70 people have been arrested so far," al-Bayda Media Center reported.

Khalifa Haftar militias have also confiscated the house of Ibrahim Jodran, chief of so-called Petroleum Facilities Guard, and attacked its gate with an RPG.

Meanwhile,
...back at the Council of Boskone, Helmuth had turned a paler shade of blue. Star-A-Star had struck again...
social media activists revealed Sunday a list of 12 wanted people from the residential district of Ras Lanuf believed to have links to Ibrahim Jodran.

There are concerns that Ajdabiya town will face the same Benghazi scenario where hundreds of Dignity Operation opponents were killed and many others escaped the city.

Putin Reportedly Planning Reforms to Effectively Resurrect KGB
[ABC] President Vladimir Putin is planning a major restructuring of the country's security services that would effectively mean a rebirth of the KGB, according to a report in the Russian media.

Respected business paper Kommersant quoted anonymous officials as saying that a new body called the "Ministry for State Security" would be established before Russia's 2018 presidential elections that, in its powers and roles, appears to closely resemble the Soviet-era KGB.

The new body would be known by the acronym "MGB."
I hope the carburetors are easier to keep tuned.
The reforms would restore most of the KGB’s functions to its successor service, the FSB, while also returning the foreign intelligence gathering to the same body, according to the newspaper.

The result would be a single powerful security structure, sitting at the heart of the state's enforcement machinery, much as the KGB once did in the Soviet Union.

Significantly, the changes would grant the new ministry powers not only to conduct criminal investigations but also give it procedural oversight over cases run by Russia's other law enforcement bodies. At the same time, Russia's top investigative bodies that now oversee political trials would see their powers sharply reduced and transferred to the MGB. The measures would make the body the most powerful security structure in the country.

"If before we were just providing support to investigation, then now we're being tasked with managing their progress from the moment that criminal charges are brought to their transfer to court," an anonymous FSB operative told Kommersant.

Paramount unveils new infantry fighting vehicles
[UPI] MIDRAND, South Africa, Sept. 19 -- A new family of infantry combat vehicles has been unveiled in South Africa by the Paramount Group.

The Mbombe line is comprised of the Mbombe 4 -- also known as the Marauder XT in certain markets -- the Mbombe 6 and the Mbombe 8.

Paramount, a South African company, said the vehicles have an 80 percent commonality of parts, which is a significant cost benefit to armed forces.

"The development of Mbombe 8 has enabled Paramount Group to provide potential customers with a complete family of 4 x 4, 6 x 6 and 8 x 8 ICVs which share over 80 percent of common components to reduce through-life costs and make for easier training and logistics," said Ben Jansen, chief executive officer of Paramount Combat Systems. "This commonality relates to both the driveline aggregates, as well as the fact that all three vehicles utilize a conventional, or in-line, automotive driveline configuration, positioning the powerpack at the front of the vehicle and along its center line."

The Mbombe 8 builds on Paramount's Mbombe 6, which employs a new form of construction for unprecedented levels of protection, while keeping profile to a minimum, the company said. The 8x8 also draws on the company's experience designing the highly effective and battle-tested Marauder and Matador mine-resistant vehicles.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Texas’s controversial voter ID law can’t stop mail-in ballot fraud
[WASHINGTONPOST] BROWNSVILLE, Tex. -- Until the day she was tossed in the slammer
I ain't sayin' nuttin' widdout me mout'piece!
, 53-year-old Vicenta Verino spent years canvassing poor, elderly and mostly Latino neighborhoods, harvesting mail-in ballots for candidates who paid her to bring in votes.

Her crime: unlawful assistance of a voter, an offense that would not have been prevented by the state’s voter ID law.

Texas officials claim that the law is needed to prevent fraud, but only 15 cases have been prosecuted by the Texas attorney general’s office between the 2012 primary election and July of this year, according to a News21 review of more than 360 allegations the office received in that time.

Eleven of those 15 are cases are similar to Verino’s, in which "politiqueras" -- people hired by local candidates in predominantly Latino communities -- collect and mail ballots for mostly elderly local voters. Texas election laws restrict who can have assistance while voting by mail and require a signature on the ballot from the person who assisted the voter.

"We used to work street by street seeing people, talking about the candidates, and those times, it kind of used to help the people," Verino said, now two years after her arrest for voter fraud.

Texas’s contested law, passed in 2011, requires voters to present one of seven approved forms of government-issued ID at the polls. In July, the U.S. 5th Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans ruled the law violates parts of the Voting Rights Act. For the November election, people without ID will be allowed to vote if they sign a sworn statement. A front man for the Texas attorney general said "this case is not over" and the agency is considering an appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court.

Texans have not been required, however, to show identification when voting by mail. The only exception is if a voter registers to vote for the first time by mail and does not provide a photo ID number or the last four digits of their Social Security number. Then, local election officials can ask the voter to send a copy of an ID with their mail-in ballot.

ISIS leaders move families to Raqqa
ALEPPO – Jihadis of the Islamic State (ISIS) started moving their families from the city of al-Bab in Syria’s northern Aleppo province to Raqqa, in a bid to avoid confrontations with Turkey-backed rebel groups and the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

Dozens of families of ISIS militants were moved to secure locations in Raqqa province–the ISIS de facto capital in Syria.

This comes just a few days after the radical group evacuated its headquarters in al-Bab city. Informed sources in al-Bab reported that major ISIS headquarters in the city were seen empty last week.

The evacuated ISIS headquarters in al-Bab included the Sharia Court, al-Hisba police department, jihadi training camps and weaponry storage centres.

“The Islamic State members started moving their families on Saturday. Since then, dozens of vehicles were seen existing al-Bab, carrying women and children believed to be family members of the ISIS jihadis,” local media activist Nassim Babi told ARA News.

The evacuation also included families of foreign militants.

“They have secured a route towards Raqqa, where their families could be safer after the group lost much of its power in northeastern Aleppo,” the source reported.

This comes as the Kurdish-led SDF forces continued their advance towards the al-Bab city in northern Aleppo. Also, the Turkey-backed rebels of the Euphrates Shield Brigades announced readiness to fight ISIS in al-Bab and other areas in northern Syria.

“ISIS has been under heavy pressure in al-Bab. The decision of evacuating their headquarters comes after the SDF forces made further advance towards the key city after retaking Manbij from the radical group,” SDF officer Habun Osman told ARA News.

In the meantime, activists said that clashes may erupt between the SDF and Turkish-backed rebels if both forces tried to storm the city of al-Bab after ISIS departure. Sporadic clashes took place earlier in August between Turkey-backed armed forces and Kurdish-led SDF troops near Jarablus city in northern Syria.

Al-Bab city has been under ISIS control since 14 October, 2014.

“In typical ISIS fashion the man is interviewed by soldiers before his death where he refers to himself as a rafidi,” the source added.

It may be mentioned here that a rafidi or rafida, is an Islamic term meaning ‘rejectors’ or ‘those who refuse’ and refers to people who have rejected ‘legitimate’ Islamic authority and leadership.

The community is afraid that their neighbors will react poorly to tomorrow's terrorist attack...
Police have not yet named the suspect, who wounded nine people on Saturday night at the Crossroads Center mall, and whose attack is being investigated as “potential act of terrorism”. But Ahhmed Adan, a Somali immigrant, told the Minneapolis Star Tribune on Sunday that police had told him the night before that his son, Dahir Adan, had died the night before.

None of the nine injured people suffered life-threatening injuries, and the only fatality of the attack was the suspect, who was shot dead by an off-duty police officer.

Dozens of Gunmen Defect from Al Nusra in Rural Idlib
Around sixty gunmen defected from Al Nusra Front terrorist group in the Zawiya Mountain in Idlib countryside, when they tried to flee into the eastern areas of the countryside of Hama.

The escaping militants were heading to the so-called ‘Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant’ (ISIL) terrorist group in order to pledge allegiance, before being arrested by Al Nusra gunmen in the southern countryside of Idlib.

They have to wait in jail until their trial is scheduled.

It is noteworthy that this is not the first defection of its kind among Al Nusra ranks, but it had already happened in more than one region in Syria, as several leaders defected after talks between Al Nusra and other factions brought to light.

Utah Jihadist and Known Wolf Arrested After Trespassing Onto Elementary School
[Heavy] A former Utah State Eastern basketball coach is accused of entering a Utah elementary school while wearing a mask and what observers said appeared to be flowing green Arabic garb after allegedly declaring himself a radical Islamic jihadist.

Police snipers were at the scene, although students and employees were evacuated and are safe, said KSL. There was also a possible bomb threat at the school. The suspect was then taken into custody.

Christopher Craig has been in the news before for a series of bizarre incidents that date back several years and range from allegedly driving on a school playground to allegedly saying churches would be destroyed.

He told the news media on September 19 that he goes by the name “Muhammad Allah Al-Khidr” and now defines himself as a radical Islamic Jihadist, according to The El Paso Times. Craig was head coach of the USU Eastern basketball team from 2007 to 2010, says The Deseret News.

Five Reasons The U.S. Army Will Lose Its Next War In Europe -- Maybe In 2017
[Forbes] U.S. Army planners believe they may have to fight a "near-peer" adversary within five years. Near-peer in this case means a rapidly modernizing Russian military seeking to regain lost ground along Russia's border with Europe. There's plenty of evidence that Russia's military is on the move in the Baltic region, near Ukraine, and elsewhere. Some observers have wrongly inferred that America's Army has "only" five years to prepare for such a conflict. In fact, it has five years or less. It is common for aggressors to challenge new U.S. presidents early in their tenure.

If such a war were to occur, it would be mainly an Army show. The fight would be over control of large expanses of land with few geographical impediments to rapid advance. The U.S. Army would likely do most of the ground combat for NATO, because America contributes over two-thirds of the alliance's resources. Losing such a war would drastically reshape the geopolitical balance in Europe, and reduce U.S. influence there to its lowest ebb since before World War Two. And yet losing is what the U.S. Army is currently postured to do.

Somewhere around the early 80s, Western Europe reach GDP and population parity. We've funded 30 years of military welfare. Why are we even there. If they don't have the will to defend themselves, why should Americans once again be called upon to die? Can't lose a war if you are not there.

Attack on Indian army base in occupied Kashmir, as it happened
[DAWN] Heavily-armed suspected gunnies killed 17 Indian soldiers in a pre-dawn raid Sunday on an army base in India-held Kashmire (IHK), the worst such attack for years in the disputed Himalayan region.

The 'militants' first attacked a frontline base close to the Line of Control (LoC) before moving onto the brigade headquarters at Uri, army front man Colonel S.D. Goswami said.

They were armed with grenades and automatic rifles, an army official said on condition of anonymity.

Residents of Uri town saw smoke billowing from the nearby army base after dawn and heard continuous rounds of heavy gunfire, while army helicopters circled overhead.

Turkey demands UN investigation of YPG
[AA.TR] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
on Monday called on the UN to investigate serious human right violations committed in Syria by the YPG terror organization, the armed branch of the PYD, the terrorist PKK’s Syrian affiliate.

"ISIS constitutes an enormous threat to the region and beyond. Terror is our common enemy, and Turkey’s determination to fight terrorism remains firm. We also would like to draw attention to serious human right violations committed by the YPG, which deserve a more detailed and separate investigation," Turkey's ambassador to the United Nations
...an organization conceived in the belief that we're just one big happy world, with the sort of results you'd expect from such nonsense...
office in Geneva, Mehmet Ferden Carikci, told the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva.

"YPG acts such as trying to change demographics and kidnapping local Kurdish politicians may lead to Syria falling apart," he warned.

Noting that despite relevant UN Security Council resolutions, the Syrian regime has continued to block unimpeded humanitarian access, Carikci said, "The UN Joint Investigation Mechanism recently confirmed that the Syrian regime is responsible for the use of chemical weapons in at least two cases, which is both a war crime and a crime against humanity. The regime has the same mindset as ISIS, which also used chemical weapons."

Why Family of Late Polisario Chief Mohamed Abdelziz Moved To Spain?
Better restaurants?
[North Africa Post] Following the death of the long-serving Polisario ringleader Mohammed Abdelaziz, his family is believed to have left the Tindouf camps (southern Algeria) to live in Spain, according to press reports.

Such a move has raised many questions over the reasons behind such relocation. Is it voluntary or compulsory? It is a sign of a rift within the separatist front? Is it due to a friction or growing tension with new separatist junta?

Khalili Ould Mohammed Abdelaziz, son of the late Polisario chief, who died last May, has reportedly moved to live in the southern Spanish city of Seville where his father has hidden his wealth.

A report by the EU’s anti-fraud office (OLAF) had revealed last year the large-scale embezzlement by Polisario leaders of humanitarian aid destined to the Tindouf camps population. The report documented the diversions committed under the watch of Algeria and how the diverted goods were sold in the black market in neighboring countries and even in Algeria.

Apparently, Khalili Ould Abdelaziz, unlike his father, does not want to leave money growing in dormant accounts but looks forward to investing his inherited assets for high returns.

According to some international anti-corruption agencies, it is time for the European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
law enforcement agencies and anti-financial crimes bodies to act and track the aid stolen by Polisario operatives to line up their pockets.

Afghanistan
US Army Fuel Smuggling Ring Likely Helped Fund The Taliban Insurgency
[DAILYCALLER] Late one night in February 2011, a group of U.S. soldiers and civilians on a dusty airfield in Jalalabad, Afghanistan conspired to steal and sell jet fuel to a mysterious Afghan contractor. Little did they know that night that the scheme would evolve into a months-long racket that likely ended up funding the Taliban’s ongoing insurgency.

Army Sergeant Kevin Bilal Abdullah, Spc. Stephanie Charboneau and civilian contractors Jonathan Hightower and Christopher Weaver helped an Afghan contractor smuggle over $1,225,000-worth of JP-8 jet fuel off Forward Operating Base Fenty from February to May 2010.

JP-8 is a standard jet fuel utilized by U.S. Air Force aircraft, meaning the fuel ring’s actions likely jeopardized the Air Force’s ability to fly missions in support of U.S. troops, putting their lives in danger.

"Fuel theft not only robs U.S. taxpayers and damages the reconstruction effort, but military operations can be jeopardized when needed fuel is stolen or otherwise diverted," said the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR) in a report released Wednesday. "Impending operations may force a commander to accept what fuel he can and forgo accountability processes to ensure mission success."

To make matters worse, the illicit sale of fuel on the Afghan black market is considered to be a primary funding stream for the Taliban and other Afghan insurgent groups, according to SIGAR.

The conspiracy was a fairly simple operation, but clandestine in nature. Abdullah oversaw the distribution of fuel in the Nangarhar province, which gave him and his fellow conspirators access to the fuel and the papers required to transport it. Working in conjunction with the Afghan contractor, the the group would fill 3,000 gallon trucks, known locally as “jingle trucks” due to their flare and adornments. Abdullah would then forge the transportation movement requests (TMRs) required to move fuel from the base to various locations in the region and provide them to the Afghan contractor, allowing the drivers of the trucks to leave the base with the fuel with no problem.

While Charboneau, Abdullah, Hightower and Weaver would eventually be caught and charged for their crimes, another group of soldiers on FOB Fenty continued the operation just months later.

Army Sgt. Regionald Dixon, Sgt. 1st Class Marvin Ware and later Spc. Larry Emmons engaged in a similar fuel smuggling operation involving forged TMR documents and an Afghan contractor from December 2011 to February 2012. A mysterious Afghan contractor paid the group $6,000 for each 3,000 gallon truck full of fuel. While investigators have reported the two schemes were separate, it is unclear whether or not both groups were bribed by the same contractor. The second group was eventually caught and prosecuted.

A third fuel smuggling case was recently discovered in 2016. Former Army Spc. Sheldon Morgan pleaded guilty to aiding an Afghan contractor in stealing and smuggling fuel out of FOB Fenty. It is unclear whether Morgan was involved or aware of the other two groups, though the dates of the crimes do coincide.

At the time of Ware’s indictment, SIGAR chief John Sopko noted his office had recovered $1.6 million in illegal proceeds and $20 million in civil penalties related to fuel smuggling cases.

Fuel is considered “liquid gold” in Afghanistan’s notorious black market. The Defense Logistics Agency has supplied more than 2.5 billion gallons of fuel, worth more than $12 billion, to U.S. personnel and the Afghan military as of September 2014.

“Almost all the large fuel theft schemes investigated by SIGAR included U.S. military personnel and, in some cases, contract civilian personnel,” noted SIGAR’s report.

#1  These NCOs are indeed traitors and criminals that funded the threat. The biggest traitors are our deliberately indifferent leaders that allowed the Taliban and warlords to regularly steal and capture billions of dollars worth of our equipment and skim equal amounts from contracts with Taliban front companies. We paid them for the privilege of fighting them.

#3  Considering the billions worth of USA military equipment that ended in the hands of Taliban and ISIS, you're sure hanging NGOs is where you want to start, Bart?
