ICE arrests 36 fugitives in nationwide operation - Only a few more million to go
WASHINGTON - U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested 36 fugitives during concurrent nationwide operations this week ‐ Operation Safe Nation and Operation No Safe Haven III. Of those arrested, 17 were sought because they may pose a threat to public safety or national security, including individuals suspected of providing material support to a terrorist organization and 19 were sought for their known or suspected roles in human rights violations overseas.

During the operations that concluded Wednesday, the ICE National Fugitive Operations Program arrested the fugitives in coordination with the ICE Human Rights Violators and War Crimes Center, the ICE Counterterrorism Section and ICE field offices in the following cities: Atlanta; Baltimore, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New Orleans, New York, San Antonio, San Diego, San Francisco and St. Paul, Minnesota. This concurrent nationwide operation was the first of its kind. It focused on the apprehension of fugitives known or suspected to pose a danger to public safety or national security and those known or suspected of human rights violations.

Cheryl Mills among Five Clinton aides who received immunity deals in FBI probe
[Wash Examiner] Cheryl Mills, Hillary Clinton's former chief of staff, received an immunity deal from the Justice Department during the year-long FBI investigation of Clinton's server.

Two other State Department staffers, John Bentel and Heather Samuelson, were also given immunity agreements, bringing the total number of witnesses who were protected by deals to five.

Bryan Pagliano, Clinton's former IT aide, and Paul Combetta, an employee at the firm hired to manage her server after she left the State Department, received such protection through deals that were reported previously.

The immunity agreements given to Mills and Samuelson covered the evidence recovered from their computers, a Democratic staffer told the Washington Examiner. The deals did not extend to their testimony before Congress or to the information they told the FBI, the staffer said.

Pagliano was held in contempt of Congress Thursday for his failure to comply with a subpoena for testimony and documents. Combetta appeared before the House Oversight Committee last week, but invoked his Fifth Amendment rights and refused to answer questions.

The FBI has said Clinton and her staff exhibited "extreme carelessness" by sharing classified information on an unsecured server that was kept in Clinton's basement.

Rep. Jason Chaffetz, chairman of the House Oversight Committee, said the immunity deals were "beyond explanation."

"I've lost confidence in this investigation and I question the genuine effort in which it was carried out," Chaffetz said in a statement. "Immunity deals should not be a requirement for cooperating with the FBI."

The Utah Republican said the FBI was "handing out immunity agreements like candy."
Ordinarily the grant of immunity is a trap for the person receiving the grant: now that the 5th Amendment protection against self-incrimination no longer applies, you HAVE to testify -- if you refuse you're held in contempt, and if you lie you're charged with perjury.

But that assumes that someone FORCES you to testify.

Ordinarily that would be the DoJ which would put you on the witness stand. But what if there is no trial, no grand jury and no witness stand? You're home scot-free.

So the granting of immunity is only half the story. The other half is the refusal of the DoJ and FBI to compel their testimony.

Mike Ditka to Colin Kaepernick: 'Get the hell out' if you don't like America
[Guardian] Hall of Fame coach Mike Ditka has leveled blistering criticism at Colin Kaepernick's decision to kneel during the national anthem, saying he has "no respect" for the San Francisco 49ers quarterback whose protest has sparked a national discussion over racial injustice, inspired dozens of NFL players to follow suit and landed him on the cover of Time magazine.

"I think it's a problem, anybody who disrespects this country and the flag," the longtime NFL coach said in a radio interview on KRLD-FM in Dallas. "If they don't like the country, if they don’t like our flag, get the hell out. That's what I think.

[TheZman] Black America does not have a race problem. It ain’t honkies robbing, looting and killing in the ghetto. They don’t have a cop problem. The cops shoot fewer black offenders than white offenders. They don’t have a gun problem either. Black America has a black guy problem. They have far too many black guys robbing, looting and killing, almost always doing so at the expense of blacks. They won’t let me fix that problem, so stop demanding I feel bad about it. I’m done. An Experience to Recall
[FGGAM.org] This 1967 true story is of an experience by a young 12 year old lad in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. It is about the vivid memory of a privately rebuilt P-51 from WWII and its famous owner/pilot.

In the morning sun, I could not believe my eyes. There, in our little airport, sat a majestic P-51. They said it had flown in during the night from some U.S. Airport, on its way to an air show.

Investigation reveals CENTCOM general delayed intel on ISIS fight meant for the POTUS
[CBS] On a rainy day in September 2014, President Obama paid a visit to U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida for a briefing from General Lloyd Austin.

Among the topics was the training and equipping of fragile Iraqi security forces to stop the explosive growth of ISIS. The cost of the program was to be $1.2 billion.

After the hour-long briefing, the president addressed the troops. "I just received a briefing from General Austin and met with your commanders, met with representatives from more than 40 nations," he said. "It is a true team effort here at MacDill."

But at the time, CENTCOM’s intelligence operation was anything but unified.

Critical assessments of the Iraqi security forces were regularly being altered by top intelligence brass. Words like "slow," "stalled," and "retreat" were changed to "deliberate" and "relocated." This had the effect of painting a rosier picture in final reports delivered to General Austin and his staff.

But it didn’t stop there. In one instance, CENTCOM’s director of intelligence, Major General Steven R. Grove, blocked a negative assessment of Iraq’s military from the President’s Daily Brief, a top secret intelligence summary viewed only by the president and his closest advisers.

#1  Guardian US dated 11 September 2015.
"James Clapper, the director of national intelligence, is said to talk nearly every day with the head of US Central Command’s intelligence wing, Army Major General Steven Grove – “which is highly, highly unusual”, according to a former intelligence official.
Grove is said to be implicated in a Pentagon inquiry into manipulated war intelligence.
In communications, Clapper, who is far more senior than Grove, is said to tell Grove how the war looks from his vantage point, and question Grove about Central Command’s assessments. Such a situation could place inherent pressure on a subordinate, sources said."

House Passes Bill Forcing Treasury To Disclose Iranian Leaders’ Assets
The House passed a bill requiring the Department of Treasury to disclose the assets of Iran’s top political and military leaders in a 282-143 vote Wednesday.

The Iranian Leadership Asset Transparency Act, spearheaded by Republican Rep. Bruce Poliquin of Maine, would force the agency to provide a report to Congress assets under control, how they were acquired and how they are being spent.

Proponents of the measure said it ensures businesses and financial institutions don’t inadvertently fund terrorism or become involved in money laundering.

Republicans have repeatedly expressed concerns over the Iran nuclear agreement, arguing it will further destabilize the region and finance acts of terror.

Despite the bill passing in a bipartisan manner, a number of Democrats and the White House slammed the measure for its attempt to undermine the Iran deal.

The president threatened to veto the legislation, noting the administration will oppose any legislation that could interfere with the Iran deal.

Why Obama enables Iran with billions for terror, disrespect Putin
[Wash Times] I have long wondered how President Obama picks his enemies and his friends. He gushes over Iran, murderous, evil terrorists, who kill gays and want to destroy Israel, but makes fun of Vladimir Putin and Russia on the international stage, "...he's got that kind of slouch, looking like the bored kid in the back of the classroom." Then, in the middle of the night, it hit me: Mr. Obama's a racist of the worst kind.

Russia is a predominantly white country. Africans are a rare sight in Moscow. There are plenty of central Asians but you'll be hard pressed to find a person of color. They are there but not in numbers. That really bothers Mr. Obama. To deal with such a nation with respect, especially one that is rising as a counter to Mr. Obama's failed foreign policy, just really gets under Obama's skin.

Mr. Obama campaigned as a uniter, preaching not a red or blue America but a United States of America. He never meant it. America, and its European roots, are facts Mr. Obama wanted to destroy from the get-go. European, Judeo-Christian America created the Magna Carta in the tradition of the Greeks and the Roman republic. America created the greatest experiment in allowing the human being to thrive ever known to mankind. A freedom-based market economy that gives the individual the keys to their future and makes iPhones and sends people to the Moon. Mr. Obama wanted to destroy this culture, these roots, this heritage from day one in the Oval Office. "God Damn America!" was his hidden creed. To destroy any vestige of European, yes white, culture was his goal. To start a race war was his agenda, to fan the flames of victimization to destroy the white part of America as it exists today.

That is why Mr. Obama has championed illegal immigration. That is why he encouraged the "children" to immigrate from Central America, sending passenger jets to bring them here. This is why he brings tens of thousands of Muslim refugees (0.5% Christian) from the Middle East instead of building them a safe space there, and wants to bring hundreds of thousands more.

The rule of law given to us from our English brethren, the Romans and the Greeks, Mr. Obama hates and disrespects with a passion. He ignores it and tears it down except where it suits him. He does not respect American culture. Running a corrupt government that uses the agencies of government to attack the political opposition is not American, it is gangsta. People say he is a decent man. A decent man doesn’t use the IRS to go after others. A decent man doesn’t allow young black men to rot in a violent, inner-city cesspool of anarchy. A decent man doesn’t refuse to prosecute overt criminality and put the fix in to the FBI.

Terror Networks
Mercer: It's Murder-By-Muslim Immigrant, Stupid
BLUF: [Constitution] Behind almost every murder-by-Muslim-immigrant are the State’s central planners:

Policy-makers, immigration authorities, immigration attorneys, local networks of Islamic organizations, media agitating for more Muslim immigration, and an FBI erecting protective barriers around bad actors--civil liberties, they call it. But oh, how easily they violate ours.

Jihad is intricately tied to Islam. We can’t war against Islam. It’s futile. Reformation of Islam is not ours to undertake.

You, Hillary Clinton’s "deplorables," will pay with your sons (and one or two daughters) if the establishment has its way and we "bomb the hell out of them." Look at what bombing Syria looks like. You can’t find ISIS. You can’t tell friend from foe, and you kill kids galore. It’s a bad idea. You can make it constitutional; you can’t make it moral.

So don’t listen to the expert Idiocracy.

The truth is that the threat we face is not from ISIS in the Levant, but from murder-by-Muslim-immigrant at home. And it’s more often than not an invited and legal threat.

Clintons Purchase Warm Springs, GA Second Chappaqua Home For $1.16 Million
[NY Post] It's not quite the Kennedy compound in Hyannis Port, but Bill and Hillary Clinton are expanding their Westchester spread by buying the house next door, The Post has learned.

The Clintons shelled out $1.16 million for the three-bedroom, 3,631 square-foot, ranch-style home set on 1.51 leafy acres on Old House Lane in Chappaqua. Westchester County land records and tax records from the town of New Castle -- where Chappaqua is located -- list William and Hillary Clinton as owners of the property.

A source said the home could be used as a weekend retreat for their daughter Chelsea, her hubby Marc Mezvinsky and their children, Charlotte and Aidan.
More likely a compound for 'Odd Job' (Diazepam auto-ejector man) and the medical, urgent care giver team. By the way, where has Odd Job been hiding lately ?

Netanyahu explains Russia's interest in cooperating with Israel
[Jpost] Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu explained Russia's possible interests in cooperating with Israel on Thursday during a discussion organized by a New York-based think tank.

"I think Russia has variegated interests. The first interest is to make sure militant Islam does not penetrate and destabilize Russia."

..."There are many many millions of Muslims in Russia, including in greater Moscow, I think it's up to two million. And the concern that Russia has, which many countries have is that these populations would be radicalized... First thing is, block militant islam at its source, especially the Daesh [Islamic State] phenomenon. For that they make strange alliances," he added.

Russian president Vladimir Putin has hosted the Israeli leader three times in the last year, during which the two leaders agreed they want to avoid a clash with each other, Netanyahu said.

"I said (to Putin), we can actually have our forces shoot down each other's planes... or we can avoid it. So periodically we have to sort of tighten the bolts, because not everything that is said at the top necessarily reaches the bottom levels, field levels. They do on the Israeli side, but they don't necessarily always do so on the other side. So the second thing is we want to avoid a clash. What is Mr. Putin's interest? He definitely doesn't want that to happen."
We have common enemies: Sunni Muslims. And, if Hillary is elected...

Mark Steyn: ‘The More Muslims You Have, the More Terrorism You Have'
[Breitbart] Monday on Fox News Channel’s "The O’Reilly Factor," commentator Mark Steyn recounted his recent visit to Europe where he examined those that have had their lives impacted directly by Islamic terrorism.

Steyn agreed with earlier comments from host Bill O’Reilly that the migrants were not the problem and that it was jihadist that were. However, there was a correlation between a country’s Muslim population and how much terrorism takes place within its borders.

Partial transcript as follows:

O’REILLY: Political commentator Mark Steyn recently returned from Europe where he attended the priest funeral and spoke with a number of people affected by the Jihad. Mr. Steyn joins us now from Colchester, VT. What did you learn there? What was the headline that you learned in Europe, Mr. Steyn?

STEYN: Well, you said at the top of the show that migrants aren’t the problem, jihadists are. And that’s true but there is a crude arithmetic here, Bill which is that the more Muslims you have, the more terrorism you have. So, that France, Belgium and Germany have very high Muslim populations, and they have a lot of terrorism. When you were in Poland and the Czech Republic, they have very few Muslims so they don’t have terrorism. And the question for Europe, and I think for the United States a few years down the line is whether you can contain this, just by the big security state. I was on the beach.

O’REILLY: Go ahead.

STEYN: Well, no, you can’t. I mean, there were soldiers everywhere in France now. Outside of schools, shopping centers, railway stations. I was on the beach at Saint-Tropez where the topless women have armed soldiers with automatic weapons patrolling between the topless women. It’s a sad sight and it’s an absurd sight. Ultimately it’s no solution.

Instapundit Suspended from Twitter Following Tweet About Charlotte Rioters
[Breitbart] Glenn Reynolds, a University of Tennessee law professor and creator of the Instapundit blog, was suspended from Twitter after stating that a motorist blocked in by protesters during the riots in Charlotte, North Carolina, should "run them down."

Reynolds posted a video from a news source depicting multiple protesters on the interstate blocking and surrounding vehicles. Reynolds simply added, "Run them down." His statement may have been good advice, as protesters in other areas of Charlotte were throwing large rocks from overpasses towards oncoming cars, endangering many drivers.

Following the tweet, Reynolds’ account was temporarily suspended. However, Reynolds tweeted later Thursday that his account had been reinstated.

#1  Prof. Reynolds said "Run them down" and the PC police were called out. They surrounded trucks and other vehicles on the interstate and I suspect motorists were in fear for their lives. There were three thugs working over a white guy in a parking garage in Charlotte. He was begging for mercy. His clothes were torn off and he was kicked and punched for being white. Recall when Reginald Denny (white) was dragged from his truck and hit with a brick and beaten nearly to death after the Rodney King incident in LA in 1992.

The PC police are often ensconced in their "safe spaces", gated communities, government offices, political offices, or academic environs and have never been in a riot, mugged, robbed, raped, or jacked. It is easy to criticize those who are in the thick of things for what they might say or do that is deemed inappropriate.

When I saw the guy getting beaten up in the parking garage, my first thought was I'd drop em if able. I am sympathetic towards Reynolds what he said in the spur of the moment and victims who have been terrorized in a riot or a crime. I am sympathetic towards cops who have to deal with this crap every day. I am sympathetic towards my friend who stopped to get gas and was jacked with the kids in the back. BTW, he always goes armed now--everywhere. I have no sympathy for POS like Soros who bankrolls BLM and the ensuing chaos that comes from stirring things up. I have no sympathy for a president who shoots from the lip every time there is some incident which is spun into a racial incident even when it is not without ever knowing the facts.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
GOP congressman: North Carolina protesters ‘hate white people'
[WAPO] Some of those who have come onto the streets of Charlotte over the past two days say they want justice for what they say is the wrongful police killing of a black man in the city this week. Others say they want more respect -- from the police, from politicians, from everyone. Some say they just want to be heard, whatever that may mean to them. The reasons are varied -- but there is simply no sign that all of these protesters, who are overwhelmingly black, have come because they hate white people.

That's exactly what Rep. Robert Pittenger (R-N.C.) said in an interview with BBC News on Thursday evening, when asked what the protesters' grievances are. "The grievance in their mind is the animus, the anger," he said. "They hate white people, because white people are successful and they're not."

Without being prompted, Pittenger quickly pivoted to a discussion about welfare and race. "I mean, yes, it is. It is a welfare state. We have spent trillions of dollars on welfare, we have put people in bondage so that they can't be all they're capable of being.

Suicide Attack Kills 3 in Cameroon's Far North
[AnNahar] Three non-combatants were killed in Cameroon

's Far North when a vigilante tried to stop a jacket wallah whose bomb detonated, regional and security sources said on Thursday.

The incident took place on Wednesday evening in Djakana, a village near the border with northeastern Nigeria, stronghold of the Islamist group which last year pledged allegiance to the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. group.

A source close to the regional authorities told AFP that, including the bomber, there were "four dead and a number of maimed, one of whom was at death's door."

The toll was confirmed by a security official.

The source said the bomber had been planning to detonate his explosives in the nearby town of Mora on Thursday, which is market day, but his plans were thwarted in Djakana where he was planning to spend the night.

"He was spotted by a member of Djakana's vigilance committee who tried to neutralize him" which caused the kaboom, she said, indicating that the man who tried to stop him was among the dead.

Djakana, which lies just a few kilometers (miles) from the Nigerian border, has been hit by a number of attacks, including one on June 30 in which 11 people were killed.

Another three non-combatants were killed and 20 others maimed in another suicide kaboom in Mora on August 21.

Mora is home to the headquarters of a multi-national force fighting Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
, which groups troops from Cameroon, Nigeria, Chad and Niger.

Boko Haram's seven-year insurgency has killed at least 20,000 people in Nigeria and border areas of neighboring Niger, Chad and Cameroon.

It has also left more than 2.8 million homeless, fleeing attacks by murderous Moslems who have ransacked villages across the poverty-stricken region.

Europe
Serbia arrests 16 for trafficking migrants to Western Europe
[AlAhram] Serbia has tossed in the slammer
Yez got nuttin' on me, coppers! Nuttin'!
16 people suspected of trafficking refugees from the Middle East, Asia and Africa, as part of increased efforts to stem the flow of illegal migrants colonists trying to reach Western Europe, the interior ministry said on Thursday.

In a statement, the ministry said all 16 suspects detained by police and state security agents came from the southern towns of Presevo and Bujanovac, just outside Macedonia.

"They facilitated illegal crossings of the border between Macedonia and Serbia and ... transfers through Serbia to EU countries," the statement said.

Serbia was at the centre of last year's migrant influx into Europe, when hundreds of thousands of people fleeing war in the Middle East journeyed up through the Balkans to reach sanctuary in the European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
Over the summer, many migrants colonists have attempted the sea crossing from North Africa to countries such as Italia. But as autumn brings rougher seas, the land route through the Balkans may see a revival of activity.

More than 110,000 migrants colonists have passed through the country so far this year, with most heading north towards the border with Hungary, which Budapest sealed a year ago.

Around 7,000 migrants colonists are stranded in camps throughout the country, up from 4,000 in July. Many paid smugglers to reach Serbia from The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
via Macedonia or Bulgaria.

Since its creation in July, a Serbian military and police task force that patrols the southern borders with Macedonia and Bulgaria has prevented around 8,000 migrants colonists from entering the country, Defence Ministry front man Jovan Krivokapic said.

"In the past two weeks, there's an increased pressure of migrants colonists on the Bulgarian border (with Serbia) where we frequently spot groups of over 50 people," he told Rooters.

A military and police patrol had found 24 migrants colonists from Afghanistan and Pakistain crammed in a van near the border with Bulgaria on Wednesday, Krivokapic said.

Late on Wednesday, Serbian prime minister Aleksandar Vucic said Belgrade could tighten its migrant policies. "We cannot become a parking lot for Afghans," news agency Tanjug quoted Vucic as saying at a conference in New York.

As well as cooperating with Hungary to stem the flow of migrants colonists, Serbia has sought technical help from La Belle France and Austria.

Hungary PM says EU should deport all illegal migrants
[Reuters] Hungary's Prime Minister said the European Union should round up and deport all illegal immigrants and assemble them in EU-supervised refugee camps beyond the bloc's borders where they can then file for asylum.

"This could be an island, it could be a coastal area in North Africa, but the security and supplies of that area must be guaranteed by the EU in its own interest," Viktor Orban told the news website Origo in an interview published on Thursday.

The firebrand premier has provoked controversy with a tough rhetoric about migrants and a razor wire fence along Hungary's southern border, as well as a referendum against mandatory resettlement quotas on Oct. 2.

"Those who came illegally must be rounded up and shipped out," Orban said.

"We must set up large refugee camps outside the EU, with armed security and financial support provided by the Union. Everyone who came illegally must return there. There they can file for asylum."

He said this was a "grave moral task" that was the only alternative to the migrants staying in Europe and being relocated around the continent, creating further problems. Resettlements were an exercise in futility as those who wanted to be in Germany would promptly return there after resettlement.

"There is only one solution that befits everyone, including us who are not yet in trouble because we defended ourselves and countries like Germany which are in trouble: Taking (migrants) out of the Union."

He reiterated that the external borders of the EU must be strengthened to prevent a repeat of the 2015 flow of migrants.

3 die in car bomb attack in Mogadishu
Three people were killed, including one soldier, and four wounded when a car bomb exploded in Somali’s capital Mogadishu Wednesday afternoon, local officials said. A vehicle suspected to have been fitted with explosive devices blew up at the Jubba junction along Makala Almukarama Road, killing three and injuring others nearby, Mogadishu mayoral spokesman Abdifitah Omar Halane told reporters.

The blast targeted Somali security forces, said Halane, as it happened near the security station in Mogadishu’s Abdaziz district, and three security personnel were among the injured. Halane blamed the militant group Al-Shabaab for the attack.

Ali Gashanle, Abduaziz district security forces commander, confirmed the incident to Anadolu Agency.

“There was blood, pieces of clothing, and shoes scattered around the chaotic scene of the car bomb attack,” eyewitness Mohamed Hussein, 25, said.

He said government troops reached the area shortly after the blast and cleared the area, fearing a second blast.

The attack follows Sunday’s suicide car bomb attack on a military vehicle in Mogadishu, killing the bomber and at least eight soldiers, including Gen. Mohamed Roble Gobale, one of the leaders of the war against Al-Shabaab in Somalia.

That attack took place near the Somali Defense Ministry Headquarters.

12 die in car bomb attack including Syrian opposition leader
A "minister" in Syria's opposition government was among at least 12 people killed in a car bomb attack in the south of the country on Thursday, the body's spokesman said.

ISIS claimed the attack in a statement on Telegram, saying one of its militants had detonated an explosive vest at an opposition meeting.

According to the opposition, the attack targeted a ribbon-cutting ceremony for a police station in Inkhil, in Syria's southern province of Daraa.

"Twelve people, including the (opposition) provisional government's local administration minister, Yaacoub al-Ammar, were killed" and dozens more were wounded, Shadi al-Jundi told AFP by telephone.

The victims included "opposition figures, rebels, and local officials", Jundi said.

In its online statement, ISIS identified the bomber as Abu Ayub al-Darawi and said there were nearly 50 casualties.

It said the attack was carried out inside "a meeting for the heads of apostasy in the city of Inkhil", killing "a number from top leaders of the apostasy".

"The outcome... was nearly 50 falling between those killed and wounded," it said.

The provisional government was formed in late 2013 and manages institutions in some rebel-held parts of Syria. It is led by Jawad Abu Hatab, elected by the opposition-in-exile National Coalition.

Daraa was the cradle of Syria's uprising in 2011, when demonstrators took to the streets to call for President Bashar al-Assad's ouster. The conflict has since evolved into a brutal multi-front war that has killed more than 300,000 people and forced millions to flee their homes.

India deploys heavy artillery along LoC
Days after suspected militants killed 18 Indian soldiers in Uri sector of held Kashmir, India deployed heavy artillery to front posts along the Line of Control (LoC), BBC Urdu reported Thursday.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi spent most of the time in military operation room on Thursday where he oversaw troops’ activities along LoC, reported BBC’s correspondent in Srinagar, Riaz Masroor.

India has reportedly beefed up security in held Kashmir following Uri attack. New Delhi’s move comes in the wake of military exercise by the Pakistan Air Force (PAF), which took place in northern areas of the country.

Foreign Office spokesperson Nafees Zakria on Thursday said the drills were a part of PAF’s routine training. The spokesperson, however, added that Pakistan’s armed forces were prepared to defend the motherland.

Top Indian defence officials told BBC on condition of anonymity that Indian Army has deployed heavy and light infantry along LoC. As of now, officials said, the army has deployed canons in Uri sector.

India, however, denies the reports that such weapons have been deployed to tackle any military escalation with Pakistan. According to Indian Army, the development is a part of routine exercise ahead of winter season.

Yahoo is expected to confirm a massive data breach
[recode.net] Yahoo is poised to confirm a massive data breach of its service, according to several sources close to the situation. The company was the victim of hacking that has exposed several hundred million user accounts.

While sources were unspecific about the extent of the incursion, since there is the likelihood of government investigations and legal action related to the breach, they noted that it is widespread and serious.

Earlier this summer, Yahoo said it was investigating a data breach in which hackers claimed to have access to 200 million user accounts and one was selling them online. “It’s as bad as that,” said one source. “Worse, really.”

The announcement, which is expected to come this week, also has possible larger implications for the $4.8 billion sale of Yahoo’s core business — which is at the core of this hack — to Verizon. The scale of the liability could bring untold headaches to the new owners. Shareholders are likely to worry that it could lead to an adjustment in the price of the transaction.
Al Ahram adds:
Yahoo said Thursday a massive attack on its network in 2014 accessed data from at least 500 million users and may have been "state sponsored."

Ninevah Nightmares: 40 die
Iraqi forces repel ISIS attack on villages near Qayyarah

(IraqiNews.com) Nineveh – Today, Nineveh Operations Command announced that the security forces killed 40 ISIS members, while they were trying to attack villages north of Qayyarah.

The Command said in a statement, “Forces from the army’s 71st brigade managed at noon today to repulse an attack launched by ISIS at villages north or Qayyarah, killing 40 ISIS members.”

“The attack didn’t inflict any losses among the ranks of the security forces,” the statement added.

ISIS to use oil burning oil tanks to block Mosul's capture
It worked so well for Saddam
(IraqiNews.com) Nineveh – Mosul residents revealed that ISIS dug a trench around the city, in preparation for an expected attack from the Iraqi army and the US-led coalition forces, and surrounded the city with oil tanks, to be set on fire and halt the advance of the Iraqi army.

ISIS is also digging tunnels underneath Mosul to stop the army’s advance and shut down some neighborhoods, in addition to planting bombs and improvised explosive devices.

The attack on the city, which ISIS captured two years ago, is planned for next month. It would mark a major turning point in the fight against ISIS.

The chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff in the US-led coalition General Joe Dunford said, “We assess today that the Iraqis will have in early October all the forces marshaled, trained, fielded, equipped that are necessary for operations in Mosul.”

Meanwhile, an Iraqi army official told media, “Suicide attacks are possible during the push into Mosul,” adding that, “ISIS are prepared to fight to the last man in order to keep control over Mosul and that the preparations they are making will make the clash challenging.”

“Besides challenging, it’s likely to take its toll on the civilian population of Mosul, which was around two million people at the time ISIS took over,” he added.

Earlier this week the Iraqi forces launched an offensive to liberate Sharqat from the ISIS control, which is seen as an important step before launching the liberation battles of Mosul.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
National Review fingers the Rooshuns for convoy attack
On Monday, Russian forces bombed a humanitarian convoy in Syria. They destroyed 18 aid trucks and killed 20 civilians.

But to understand why the Russians did so, you should first search “Putin pen” on YouTube. Watch the final 45 seconds and you’ll see two central tenets of Putin’s personality: first, his hard-edged sense of humor; second, his cultivation of varying images of himself.

Putin wants some to view him as a tough-headed realist. He wants others to see him as a servant of the common man. And most important, he wants his adversaries to believe he is a leader who cannot be deterred from his destiny. That cultivation of his image is exactly why Putin bombed this convoy.

The Russians are denying that their aircraft were operating above Aleppo during the strike, but they know the U.S. government quickly figured out that they were responsible. After all, every time the Russians or Syrians launch jets, U.S. radar and intelligence assets carefully monitor them, warning U.S. forces of any deliberate Russian or Syrian air strike.

The monitoring also provided valuable intelligence on where Russian military attention is focused. Regardless, Putin knows the U.S. employs these capabilities and that we would have been focused on Russia’s heavy air coverage of Aleppo. And that leads to the key takeaway: Putin just doesn’t care that he’s been caught. On the contrary, his strategy is actually served by his lack of concern. As I noted at NRO when the cease-fire began last week:

#1  tl;dr: Putin is a big meany and did it just to be mean.

Rather weak sauce for an explanation, but possible. He is a snake-eyed ex-KGB guy after all.

But another possibility is the humanitarian aid convoy was conveying something closer to the war materiel end of the spectrum.

#2  I have it! I have it! Putin is afraid his title of Public menace #1 will be taken by Trump. That's why he bombs humanitarian convoys (or, like me, he just doesn't believe that "humanitarian" and Islam can mix).

Unrolling a biblical scroll without even touching it
Video at the link
[ScienceMag] Nearly 1500 years ago, a village in eastern Israel near modern-day Ein Gedi burned to the ground, leaving behind the charred remains of homes, a synagogue, and a scroll of the Hebrew Bible's Book of Leviticus. Now, nearly 50 years after the scroll was discovered buried in the burned synagogue, scientists can read its charred remains line by line, all without touching its crumbling animal skin manuscript. Through a technique called x-ray microtomography, researchers were able to create digital slices of the scroll, which they then separated into individual "pages" they could view using a computer, they report today in the journal Science Advances.

The researchers then spliced together more than 100 separate pages by hand to create a single, "unrolled" scroll, as seen in the video above. Aside from the famed Dead Sea Scrolls, the Ein Gedi Scroll is the earliest scroll of writing from one of the books of the Torah, or the Jewish Bible, ever found.

This noninvasive technique should allow researchers to read other fragile ancient documents, such as those buried by the 79 C.E. eruption of Mount Vesuvius in Italy, without ever having to lay a finger on them.

Local Yemeni al Qaeda leader killed in US drone strike
[Ynet] A big shot of Yemen's al Qaeda branch was killed on Thursday in a raid by a US drone strike in central Yemen, an official of the exiled government of President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi said.

The official said Abdallah al-Sanaani, a regional commander in Al Qaeda in Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), was killed along with his bodyguard while travelling in a vehicle in the al-Sawma'a district of Abyan
...a governorate of Yemen. The region was a base to the Aden-Abyan Islamic Army terrorist group until it dropped the name and joined al-Qaeda. Its capital is Zinjibar. In March 2011, al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula declared the governate an Islamic Emirate after seizing control of the region. The New York Times fastidiously reported that those in control, while Islamic hard boyz, are not in fact al-Qaeda, but something else that looks, tastes, smells, and acts the same. Yemeni government forces launched an effort to re-establish control of the region when President-for-Life Saleh was tossed and the carnage continues...
province.

"He was killed, along with an escort, and the vehicle was completely burned," the official, who asked not to be named, told Rooters.
An Nahar adds:
One security official said jihadists had recently sought refugee in the vicinity following military operations against the turbans in nearby Hadramawt, Abyan and restive Lahj
... a Yemeni governate located in the southwestern corner of the Arabian Peninsula. It is the stomping grounds on the southern secessionist al-Harak movement

Yemen's exile govt makes final return to Aden
ADEN: Yemen’s premier-in-exile returned home Thursday along with seven ministers to the southern city of Aden, the temporary capital as rebels continue to rule Sanaa.

Prime Minister Ahmed bin Dagher flew from Riyadh to the port city where he said upon arrival that his return is “final.”

The premier’s voyage is the first since his predecessor Khaled Bahah fled Aden in October last year after surviving a bombing attack, only weeks after he had returned with a handful of ministers.

Government forces backed by the Saudi-led coalition had pushed Shiite rebels and their allies out of Aden and four other southern provinces in the summer.

The coalition launched a military campaign against the rebels in March 2015 as they closed in on President Abedrabbo Mansour Hadi after he took refuge in Aden, forcing him into exile in Riyadh.

Hadi has not made any suggestion of returning to Yemen soon.

Bin Dagher said his return follows a decision by Hadi to withdraw the central bank from rebel-held Sanaa to Aden.

His government has 32 ministers. Some are expected to move from Riyadh to Marib, east of Sanaa, a region that is also mostly controlled by loyalists.

Houthi rebels and their allies of forces loyal to former president Ali Abdullah Saleh still control vast parts of the country, including northern regions and the capital Sanaa which they overran unopposed in September 2014.

Since the coalition intervened in March 2015, more than 6,000 people have been killed in Yemen, according to the United Nations.

Congressional Black Caucus Demands Nationwide Crackdown on Law Enforcement
[Washington Examiner] The Congressional Black Caucus is demanding that Attorney General Loretta Lynch immediately take action to prevent police killings with a nationwide crackdown on law enforcement.

"The world is watching and we cannot continue to ignore these killings," said Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., presenting the letter to the media Thursday while the entire caucus stood in support outside the Department of Justice.

The Congressional Black Caucus' letter urges Lynch to "aggressively pursue investigations, indictments and prosecutions through the Office of Civil Rights against any and all law enforcement officers who harm or kill innocent unarmed black men, women and children.

Robbery suspect dies in encounter
FAISALABAD: A man who was allegedly handed over to police by locals after a thwarted shop robbery bid, was later killed in an ‘encounter’ on Wednesday at Jaranwala.

According to Jaranwala Saddar police, two motorcyclists were looting people at gunpoint on Faisalabad Road when police confronted them.

Seeing police, the robbers opened fire which was returned. As a result, one of the robbers was hit by a bullet and died on the spot, while the other managed to escape.

Locals, however, refuted the police claim, saying two robbers occupying a car came to an auto shop near Saleemi Park, Lahore Road. They said the shop owner offered resistance and raised an alarm, alerting other shopkeepers who overpowered one of the robbers, while the other fled the scene.

The shopkeepers subjected the robber to torture before handing him over to city police. They said they also had a footage of the robber being taken away in a police van.

However, later Jaranwal Saddar police claimed to have killed the suspect, identified as Allah Ditta of Sargodha, in an encounter.

Gunmen abduct US teacher in Sanaa
Gotta generate hard cash somehow
DUBAI: Gunmen abducted an American teacher on Tuesday from an English language school in Sanaa, witnesses said, in the latest of a series of kidnappings of foreigners.

Armed men in civilian clothes entered the school and forced the teacher into their car as bewildered colleagues and students looked on.

“We were shocked when the armed group entered the building. They got to his office and took him to an unknown location,” a Yemeni teacher at the school said.

“We are aware of reports of US citizens being held in Yemen. Privacy considerations prevent us from commenting further on this case,” a US State Department spokeswoman told Reuters.

Meanwhile, heavy fighting between Yemeni government forces and Iran-backed Shiite Houthis for control of the heights overlooking the Bab Al-Mandab strait has left 17 combatants dead, the loyalist commander said Wednesday. “We launched an offensive which enabled us to recapture two mountains,” General Fadhl Hassan said.

Sounds like the kidnapping victim is hosed
[AlArabiya] Yemeni militias and their allies charged Thursday that an American detained in the capital this week had provided target coordinates for air strikes by their foes in a Saudi-led coalition.

Masked gunmen wearing the uniform of the militias’ national security service seized Peter Willems on Tuesday from the principal’s office of the Exceed Language Center he heads.

Students described scenes of panic as he was hauled off without any immediate explanation.

“Here is the American spy Peter Willems, director of the Exceed Language Center,” a member of the rebels’ Revolutionary Committee, Nayef al-Qanes, tweeted alongside a photograph of the detained school head.

“He was arrested in Sanaa after it was established that he was providing coordinates” to the coalition, Qanes added.

The same accusation was levelled by a close aide of ousted president Ali Abdullah Saleh, whose supporters in the army helped the militias capture Sanaa in September 2014.

“He was providing information and coordinates to the coalition,” tweeted Ibrahim Saryi, chief of staff of Saleh’s powerful son Ahmed.

Willems is not the first American to be detained by the militias.

In April, a US citizen was flown out of Sanaa to Muscat after successful negotiations for his release by Oman, the only Gulf Arab state which is not part of the Saudi-led coalition battling the militias.

Last November, Oman evacuated three Americans who had been detained for spying by the militias.

And in September last year, Oman helped to negotiate the release of a Briton, two Americans and three Saudis.

Hostility to Washington has long been a key part of the rhetoric of the Houthis. They chant the same “Death to America” slogan at their rallies as used by the Shiite regime in Iran.

The hostility has increased since the Saudi-led coalition launched its military intervention in support of President Abedrabbo Mansour Hadi in March last year with reconnaissance and refueling support from Washington.

Western embassies have long since quit the capital, with most diplomats now based in neighboring countries.

Only a small number of idiot Westerners remain in Sanaa.

19 die in Sirte fighting
Ten ‘jihadists’ and nine pro-government fighters died in clashes Thursday around the last positions of the ISIL group in the Libyan coastal city of Sirte, medical and military sources said.

“Our forces are advancing on the last holdouts of ISIL” in the only district of Sirte still held by the terrorist group, said the media office of the pro-government fighters.

Three car bombs driven by ‘jihadists’ were destroyed before reaching their targets, it said.

Sirte was an ISIL stronghold before forces loyal to the country’s Government of National Accord launched an offensive against the jihadists in May.

The hospital in Misrata, a town half-way between Sirte and Tripoli, to which casualties are ferried, said on Facebook that nine pro-GNA fighters were killed and 40 wounded.

Red Atlantic: Russia Could Choke Air, Sea Lanes To Europe
NATIONAL HARBOR: Russia could hinder US reinforcements headed to Europe in the event of a major war, warned the recently retired Supreme Allied Commander, Gen. Philip Breedlove. It’s well known Russian radars, missiles, and strike planes -- "Anti-Access/Area Denial" systems -- threaten ships and aircraft across wide swathes of the Black Sea, Eastern Europe, and the Baltic. But Gen. Breedlove's worries are on a wider scale: He's anxious about the Atlantic.
Red Storm Rising, thirty years later...
"If we are in a shooting war with a big nation to the east, do you believe you will cross the Atlantic uncontested, either in the air or on the sea?" Breedlove asked rhetorically at the Air Force Association conference here.

"The unobstructed crossing of the Atlantic to fight a war on the land mass in Europe, I think, is a thing of the past," Breedlove told me and a reporter from Russian agency RIA after his AFA remarks. "We need to think about our ability to defend our capability to reinforce Europe."

This is the giant blind spot in the brain of the NPR-listening pseudointellectual class - like Mrs. Tennessee. They don't understand this basic proven truth that VDH can lay out in three simple sentences.

They really think they can buy the world a Coke.

This is what happens when you want a narrative to be true so badly that you ignore reality. This is what happens when you are taught Zinn/Chomsky history instead of real history. This is what happens when a nation has been too wealthy for too long and lots of its citizens never really struggled or had to deal with adversity and their view of human nature is based on living in philosophically insular enclaves like college campuses or tony, chic urban neighborhoods, doing jobs that aren't really productive or necessary but exist due to said affluence.

When the bad times come for those types, and the thugs foreign OR domestic) are standing before them with a gun, they really think that they can say, "No, you don't understand, I was against the Iraq War, and I voted for Obama. and I hate Christians, and I believe in diversity!", and the thugs will say, "Oh, okay, I'll just leave now". There is literally no understanding that the thugs won't even spare the breath to laugh before they blow the squishy leftist's brains all over the wall behind her.

Mrs Tennessee is exactly the sort of person who goes around saying that things are different this time - but who can never tell you how, precisely.

Charlotte violence sparks self defense gun buying spree (Video)
[Washington Examiner] The explosion of racial violence in Charlotte, N.C. has led to a gun buying spree by locals worried about their safety.

At Hyatt Guns, one of the nation's largest, staff arrived Thursday morning after the second night of riots and encountered a line of buyers.

"First off, our prayers are with law enforcement this morning. People are afraid. They see lunacy in the streets being perpetrated by criminals and they are gearing up to protect themselves," Justin Anderson, director of marketing for Hyatt Guns told Secrets.

#2  Crusader,

From what I've seen the incident in Tulsa was really bad for the police. The subject was NOT armed and was not attacking anyone. He was not obeying the cop, probably high on PCP, but that is no reason to shoot him.

She had a tazer but didn't use it. There were reinforcements there so this strikes me as a cop either unreasonably paniced or very full of it and thought killing was a job perk.

I had to deal with PCP back at school as an RA when it was being pushed as "hash". Yes, it could turn people crazy but I never felt the need to shoot them.

#3  Real life isn't an episode of "The Rifleman" where the sharp shooting good guy can calmly wait until the weapon is pulled and has begun its swing-into-aiming-position before the good guy shoots the bad guy. He wasn't following instructions, and was ready to reach inside his vehicle. The moment that reach began was the time to dispatch him. He may have been reaching for a lolipop, or it may have been a gun. A cops life isn't worth risking to find out.

I'm going with panic, and very few women make good street cops. I probably would have shot him myself. Once he made a move to reach inside the car.

21 Abu Sayyaf militants surrender in Basilan
[Anadolu] The Philippine military announced Thursday the surrender of 21 Abu Sayyaf militants on the troubled island province of Basilan. Colonel Thomas Cirilo Donato said in a statement that the 21 men surrendered and handed over their firearms in Sumisip town. He said, "The Abu Sayyaf members realized that fighting the government and enduring hard life in the mountains is a lost cause."

Last month, security forces seized two Abu Sayyaf fortified camps in the neighboring town of Tipo-Tipo after a weeks-long offensive that killed 45 militants and 16 soldiers.

US man pleads guilty in IS plot to behead blogger
[IsraelTimes] Nicholas Rovinski, 25, was recruited to jihadist group and planned to murder conservative activist Pamela Geller

A man charged with plotting to help the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group pleaded guilty on Thursday to conspiracy charges, including a plot to behead conservative blogger Pamela Geller.

Nicholas Rovinski, of Warwick, Rhode Island, admitted he conspired with two Massachusetts men to kill Geller and attempted to recruit others to carry out additional violent attacks in the United States. The plots were never carried out.

A plea agreement between Rovinski, 25, and federal prosecutors calls for a sentence of between 15 years and 22 years. Judge William Young set sentencing for March.

Rovinski, who has cerebral palsy and walks with a limp, answered softly when asked by the judge why he decided to plead guilty instead of going to trial.

"I feel that in the interest of myself and the people of the United States I should pay for the crimes that I have committed," he said.

Prosecutors said Rovinski plotted with David Wright, of Everett, and Wright’s uncle Usaamah Rahim, of Boston, to kill Geller, who angered Moslems when she organized a Prophet Muhammad cartoon contest in Garland, Texas, in May 2015. The contest ended in gunfire, with two Moslem gunnies shot to death by police.

Assistant US Attorney Stephanie Siegmann said Rovinski told authorities after his arrest that he, Wright and Rahim had agreed to kill Geller, who’s from New York. Siegmann said Rahim later told Wright he wanted to go after "those boys in blue," a reference to police.

Rahim, who had been under surveillance, was shot and killed by authorities on June 2, 2015, after he lunged at them with a knife when they approached him in Boston, prosecutors said. Wright has pleaded not guilty
"Wudn't me."
and is awaiting trial.

Siegmann said that after Rovinski’s arrest in June 2015 he sent two letters to Wright in which he pledged allegiance to the Islamic State group, talked about beheading people and told Wright he had recruited a fellow inmate to help "take down" the East Coast and the US government.

"Can’t wait for them juicy necks," Rovinski wrote, a reference to beheadings, Siegmann said.

Geller called Rovinski a "murderous thug" and said he was right to plead guilty.

"He still deserves the maximum sentence -- until he proves he is not a danger to human beings who don’t accept his beliefs," she said.

Rovinski’s lawyer, William Fick, said Rovinski was a "vulnerable young man" who was "seduced by bully boy ideology."

"He has unequivocally renounced violence and renounced terrorism," Fick said after the court hearing.

Siegmann said Islamic State recruiter Junaid Hussain communicated instructions about the plot to kill Geller directly to Rahim from overseas in May 2015. Hussain was killed in a US drone strike in Syria in August 2015.

Rovinski pleaded guilty to two federal charges: conspiracy to provide material support to a designated foreign terrorist organization and conspiracy to commit acts of terrorism transcending national boundaries.

Iraqi Defense Ministry said in a statement, “ Sharqat liberation process has been launched from three directions with the participation of the Ninth Armored Division, backed by al-Hashed al-Shaabi fighters, the Air Force and army under the command of Salahuddin Operations. The process achieved significant progress during the first hours of its launch; the government complex and a number of villages were liberated and the security forces reached the outskirts of the district.”

“The process is named after martyr Ali Eid al-Jubouri, where the military units were able to surprise the enemy and break its defense lines,” the statement added.

160 ISIS Turbans have a Very Bad Day

(IraqiNews.com) Salahuddin – Nineveh Operations Command on Thursday announced that over 160 ISIS militants were killed in an airstrike conducted by the international coalition aircraft east of Sharqat.

Nineveh Operations Command said, “The international coalition aircraft this morning bombarded an ISIS gathering at al-Safina village, east of Sharqat district, killing over 160 ISIS militants.”

“The bombardment also destroyed a large number of equipment, mechanisms and weapons belonging to the group,” the statement added.

It may be mentioned that an army commander announced on Tuesday about the end of the first phase of the liberation operation of Sharqat, and the initiation of preparation of the second phase.

Iraqi forces claim they hold Sharqat

(IraqiNews.com) Salahaddin – The Joint Operations Command “J.O.C” has announced the liberation of Sharqat district completely, after a swift and unique battle.

The Joint Operations Command’s spokesman Brigadier General Yahya Rasoul in a statement, said, “We congratulate you today with the news of liberating the district of Sharqat completely from the control of terrorism, here is a new Iraqi victory achieved in Sharqat under the supervision of the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces and the planning and coordination of the Joint Operations Command.

Within 72 hours, our armed forces have fought a swift and unique battle resulted in the full liberation of Sharqat and raising the Iraqi flag over its governmental offices,” Rasoul added.

More from ARA News
ERBIL – The Iraqi army forces announced on Thursday the “liberation” of the Sharqat District in Saladin Governorate from militants of the Islamic State (ISIS).

More than 160,000 civilians have been displaced from Sharqat due to the fighting between the Iraqi forces and ISIS militants.

“After months of heavy fighting against Daesh [ISIS] terrorists, the Iraqi army was able on Thursday evening to fully liberate Sharqat District,” said Jamal al-Mukhtar, official spokesman of the Saladin Governorate.

Hundreds of ISIS militants were killed in the fight for Sharqat, an Iraqi army officer told ARA News. “In the coming days, the Iraqi troops will work on dismantling explosives left by Daesh in the District,” he said.

This comes just one day after the Iraqi army cut off a major ISIS supply route between Sharqat District and Mosul city –main ISIS bastion in Iraq.

“This route was a key supply-line for Daesh [ISIS] terrorists in northern Iraq. It linked the Daesh-held major city of Mosul with the Sharqat District and the Baaj District,” army commander Salim al-Jabouri told ARA News.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
HRC tries to evade Benghazi lawsuit liability
[WND] Responding to a federal court’s ruling that she defaulted in a wrongful-death claim against her by missing a filing deadline, Hillary Clinton is claiming she didn’t know she had been served with a lawsuit until it was too late.

The complaint was brought by the parents of two of the Americans killed by Islamic terrorists in Benghazi.

WND reported earlier this month that the federal court declared Clinton in default. The ruling, however, did not immediately establish liability, and she has responded to the court that there are several reasons she should be given a pass for missing the deadline.

WND reported in August the claims were brought by the parents of two of the Americans killed by Islamic terrorists in Benghazi.

The case was filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia by lawyer Larry Klayman of Freedom Watch USA on behalf of Patricia Smith, the mother of Sean Smith, and Charles Woods, the father of Tyrone Woods. The parents cite the FBI’s determination that Clinton handled classified information with "extremely careless" by using a nonsecure, private email server.

Smith and Woods were killed in the Sept. 11, 2012, jihadist attack on the American compound in Benghazi. While Clinton and other Obama administration officials were publicly blaming the deaths on a response to an obscure YouTube video, internal communications show they knew immediately that it was a terrorist attack.

The wrongful death claim also alleges defamation and intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress.

"Having used a secret private email server that we now know was used to communicate with Ambassador Christopher Stevens with confidential and classified government information, and which we also now know was likely hacked by hostile adversaries such as Iran, Russia, China and North Korea aligning with terrorist groups, it is clear that Hillary Clinton allegedly negligently and recklessly gave up the classified location of the plaintiffs’ sons, resulting in a deadly terrorist attack that took their lives. It is no coincidence that covert State Department/CIA operations were being run out of Benghazi," Klayman said.

"To add insult to deadly injury, Hillary Clinton told the plaintiffs that their sons were killed as the result of a video mocking the Islamic prophet Mohammed when she knew that they were murdered by Muslim terrorists. When the families exposed her lies, she called them liars to protect her reputation and to further her own presidential ambitions. She thus defamed the parents of fallen heroes Tyrone Woods and Sean Smith, as well committed other wrongful acts, as alleged in the complaint.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
100 Russian, Syrian airstrikes hit Aleppo
Tuesday night in the city of Aleppo was the most violent since the start of events in Syria, and the Syrian opposition announced that Russian and Syrian aircraft carried out more than 100 air raids on besieged eastern neighbourhoods in conjunction with unprecedented missile attacks and bombardments which led to the complete destruction of a large number of buildings. Dozens of civilians were also killed and wounded.

An AFP correspondent reporting from an eastern neighbourhood in Aleppo said that “These neighbourhoods were targeted by more than a hundred strikes that extended to the city and its suburbs after midnight on Wednesday morning and they lasted until dawn. This prevented residents from sleeping due to the intensity of the shelling”. He added that the raids “did not stop until after it began to rain heavily in the morning”.

The bombing that targeted the Sukkari neighbourhood in eastern Aleppo continued after midnight and completely destroyed a six-storey building. A resident of the neighbourhood called Abu Ahmed told the AFP correspondent, whilst he removed stones and broken glass from in front of a nearby building, that “There were only two brothers in the building. An hour before the bombing, I visited them and we drank tea together. One of them advised me to vacate my house on the fourth floor and move, with my family, to the lower floors because of the repeated aerial bombardment.” He added that “An hour after I left, a missile attacked the neighbourhood and destroyed the entire building and killed the two brothers.”

On his part, the military spokesman for the Fastaqim Kama Umirt group Ammar Saqqar told Asharq Al-Awsat that “Russian and Syrian aircraft intensified their raids on residential areas occupied by civilians in the besieged area in Aleppo. They used barrel bombs and missiles to kill as many people as possible”. He also confirmed that the bombing targeted the neighbourhoods of “Al-Qatirji, Al-Mashhad, Salah Addin and Sukkari, amongst other neighbourhoods”.

For the first time, the number of victims is unknown because the raids are ongoing. Saqqar said that “So far, we do not have accurate statistics about the number of victims but we do know that there are many, and there are still bodies under the rubble of four residential buildings that were completely destroyed.” He continued by saying “The raids continue and every 10 minutes there is a strike, and this is taking place in a besieged area that does not have a sufficient stock of medicines”. Saqqar continued by saying that hospitals in Aleppo are unable to accommodate the injured because most of them are out of service after Russian aircraft destroyed them. He also said that “Most of the wounded are being treated in the streets”.

Turkish artillery pounds Kurd positions near Tel Abyad
TEL ABYAD – The Turkish army on Thursday targeted headquarters of the Kurdish YPG forces near the Syrian border city of Tel Abyad.

Security headquarters of the People’s Protection Units (YPG) were exposed to artillery bombardment by the Turkish military forces in the vicinity of Tel Abyad in the northern countryside of Raqqa Governorate.

“The Turkish forces bombed a YPG security centre at the Tel Abyad border crossing with heavy artillery on Thursday midnight,” Kurdish YPG officer Habun Osman told ARA News.

Another attack by Turkey’s military forces targeted a YPG security checkpoint in the town of Munbateh in Tel Abyad suburb. At least four kurdish fighters were injured by Turkish fire.

“If the international coalition won’t take any action to stop Turkey’s violations on the border, we will respond by force,” the Kurdish official said.

The Kurdish YPG forces and allied factions of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), backed by the US-led coalition, expelled militants of the Islamic State (ISIS) from Tel Abyad in June 2015.

This is not the first time for Turkey to target Syrian Kurds. The Turkish army has earlier launched more than 20 attacks on Kurdish positions in northern Syria, according to military sources. Most of the attacks targeted YPG-held areas in Aleppo, Kobane, and northern Raqqa.

Turkey, Russia in deal over Syrian airspace
Turkey and Russia have been discussing the creation of a protocol to coordinate the flights of their warplanes over Syrian airspace in a bid to prevent unwanted incidents like the downing of a Russian jet by Turkish Air Forces on Nov. 24, 2015, a senior Turkish military source has said.

While drafting the protocol, the two sides also agreed on a “gentleman’s agreement” to prevent the two sides’ warplanes from entering into areas where the other side is conducting military operations.

The decision to work to coordinate military flights over Syria was taken during a meeting of the respective Russian and Turkish chiefs of General Staff, Gen. Valery Gerasimov and Gen. Hulusi Akar, on Sept. 15 in Ankara. The two top soldiers approved the establishment of a hotline between the two air forces in a bid to prevent accidents or unwanted incidents.

“Work to accomplish the protocol continues at the highest level,” the senior military source told daily Hürriyet on the condition of anonymity on Sept. 22. If signed, the protocol will mark an important step in developing the military-to-military relationship and coordination between Turkey and Russia in the Syrian theater.

The need to make a protocol to coordinate flights in Syria with Russia became urgent after the Turkish army launched a massive cross-border operation into its southern neighbor on Aug. 24 in a bid to remove the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) from its border.

“We have carried out 97 sorties against ISIL positions as part of the Operation Euphrates Shield,” the source said.

According to the military source, while talks continue for an official protocol, the two sides have agreed verbally on what the source called a “gentleman’s agreement.” Accordingly, the Turkish military has provided the Russian side the coordinates of the areas in which it operates and its warplanes fly over. In return, Russian warplanes will work to steer clear of these areas.

“As Turkey, we know which areas we will conduct air operations over. Our warplanes scramble when there is a need to support the Free Syrian Army (FSA) on the ground,” the source said. “Our communication with Russia functions perfectly.”

According to the same source, the Russian side is also acting very carefully to avoid violating Turkish airspace and regularly providing information about its flights near Turkey, particularly Hatay province. The closest flight of Russian warplanes to Turkish airspace was four kilometers around Hatay province, the source said, adding that the Turkish military had already been informed about the incident.

Turkish warplanes downed a Russian warplane on Nov. 24, 2015, due to an alleged airspace violation which caused a severe diplomatic crisis between the two countries. A normalization process was started after Turkey expressed regret over the incident.

4 MQM affiliated robbers detained
KARACHI: Police on Thursday claimed to have arrested four suspects allegedly affiliated with Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) who were allegedly involved in five murders and over 150 robberies at jewelry shops in the metropolis.

The suspects were also involved in multiple incidents of street crimes, said a senior police official.

The suspects were arrested by the police after an alleged encounter near St Marry School in the Raheem Shah Colony area of Mominabad.

The police official claimed the held suspects have ‘confessed’ to their involvement in five murders, including those of Awami National Party workers and over 50 robberies at jewelry shops and 100 incidents of mugging.

“Police recovered gold worth Rs30 million from their custody and also recovered 210 mobile phones,” added the official.

Al-Shabab attacks Kenya police station
Al-Shabab Islamist militants say they are behind an attack on a police station in north-eastern Kenya, near the border with Somalia.

Some residents report that two police officers were injured in the raid on Hamey, which is not far from the town of Garissa, and many more cannot be accounted for. The raid took place at about midnight local time.

An al-Shabab spokesman told the BBC that the insurgents killed six officers and captured two others. The fighters were able to take over the entire police station as most of the officers ran away, al-Shabab said. A vehicle and some arms were also stolen.

A journalist based in the Dadaab district said that one police officer who was injured in the attack is now being treated in Dadaab.

Dozens drown after boat capsizes off Egypt’s coast
At least 29 people have died and 150 rescued after a boat carrying hundreds of refugees capsized off Egypt’s coast. State news agency MENA reported on Wednesday that the boat capsized off the coast of Kafr al-Sheikh, about 140km north of Cairo, and that search teams were looking for more survivors.

The boat was carrying Egyptian, Syrian, and African migrants, security sources told Reuters news agency. Rescue workers saved 150 people, MENA said. It was not immediately clear where the boat was headed, though some security sources said they believed it was going to Italy.

More and more people have been trying to cross to Italy from the North African coastline in recent months as the weather improves, particularly from Libya, where people-traffickers operate with relative impunity, but also from Egypt.

Some 206,400 refugees have crossed the Mediterranean this year, according to the International Organization for Migration. More than 2,800 deaths have been recorded between January and June this year, against 1,838 during the period last year.

Abu Sayyaf releases Indonesian hostage
[AFP] The Abu Sayyaf on Thursday freed an Indonesian sailor abducted at sea, days after the gunmen released a Norwegian captive and three other Indonesians. The militants turned over Herman Manggak to another group of Muslim gunmen who later handed him over to the authorities, a military statement said.

Manggak was seized from a boat at gunpoint in the Sulu Sea close to the Malaysian border with the Philippines. He was held for 50 days on the Philippine island of Jolo, a stronghold of the Abu Sayyaf who earlier Thursday turned him over to the Moro National Liberation Front.

The terms of his release were not disclosed, but the Indonesian ambassador to Malaysia said the gunmen initially had demanded RM10,000 for him after freeing two other crew members.

Rasmussen WH Watch: Trump 44%, Clinton 39%, Johnson 8%, Stein 2%
[Rasmussen] With the first presidential debate coming on Monday, Donald Trump has moved to a five-point lead over Hillary Clinton, his biggest advantage since mid-July.

The latest Rasmussen Reports weekly White House Watch telephone and online survey finds Trump with 44% support among Likely U.S. Voters to Clinton’s 39%. Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson earns eight percent (8%) of the vote, while Green Party nominee Jill Stein holds steady at two percent (2%). Three percent (3%) like some other candidate, and five percent (5%) are still undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

Last week, the Republican nominee edged ahead of his Democratic rival 42% to 40% after trailing her by four points the week before. Trump’s total this week ties his highest ever level of support from two months ago.

Trump (76%) and Clinton (75%) earn comparable support from voters in their own party. Fourteen percent (14%) of Democrats prefer Trump, while 10% of Republicans join former President George H.W. Bush in supporting Clinton. But Trump has a commanding 45% to 27% lead this week among voters not affiliated with either major political party.

Johnson picks up 16% of unaffiliateds, along with five percent (5%) of GOP voters and three percent (3%) of Democrats. Stein is stuck in low single digits among all three groups.

#1  "...while 10% of Republicans join former President George H.W. Bush in supporting Clinton."

There should be political consequences for such "support". There is absolutely nothing "Republican" that would support voting for Hillary (unless its *cowardice*, or addiction to *graft*).

#4  10% of Republicans join former President George H.W. Bush in supporting Clinton.

You have to wonder what is going on with the other 10%. So they don't mind voting for a criminal for POTUS and killer. They don't mind having a first husband who got impeached running around the WH dicking around. Is there a relationship or connection between the 10% and the Clintons they want to keep hidden. Makes one suspicious. What makes Hillary Clinton so desirable as a POTUS. Can't think of anything. Anybody else got anything?

#7  Crusader, those folks haven't been Republican for some time, they just learned to talk the talk to get elected. Now they'll join the Dems and maybe pull the loyal opposition back to some sense of loyalty to the country again.

#8  It's going to be interesting. Personally, I doubt most people spend more than 90 seconds making up their minds in any election. So when I see polls swinging one way or the other by more than a couple of points, I write them off as describing a phenomenon which does not exist in real life.

That said, this year the election is between the least popular presidential candidate in US history, and the second least popular. So who the hell knows? Maybe the major party numbers really will come in this low, but somehow I doubt it.

#9  I think a lot of people don't trust the media anymore and are picking up facts bit by bit this go around.

I think Sanders supporters aren't sure how angry they are at Hillary.

I also think a lot of Trump supporters are quiet to avoid having their car keyed.

The combination of the three makes all hte polls volatile.

Blazes at Iran petrochemical plants raise suspicions of cyberattack
[IsraelTimes] Tehran insists recent fires at several oil complexes unrelated to hacking, but officials last month acknowledged malware infection

A series of fires at Iranian petrochemical plants and facilities have raised suspicions about hacking potentially playing a role, with authorities saying that "viruses had contaminated" equipment at several of the affected complexes.
Stuxnet II? What a delightful idea! Though this time it isn't likely an American team was involved.
Iran officially insists the six known blazes over the span of three months weren’t the result of a cyberattack. However,
facts are stubborn; statistics are more pliable...
the government acknowledgment of supposedly protected facilities being infected points to the possibility of a concerted effort to target Iranian infrastructure in the years after the Stuxnet virus disrupted thousands of centrifuges at a uranium enrichment facility.

Among the worst of the fires was a massive, days-long inferno in July at the Bou Ali Sina Petrochemical Complex in Iran’s southwestern province of Khuzestan. Insurance officials later estimated the damage at some $67 million. Authorities preliminarily blamed the blaze on a leak of paraxylene, a flammable hydrocarbon, without elaborating.

Other recent blazes include:

-- A July 29 fire at a storage tank at the Bistoon Petrochemical Complex in Iran’s western province of Kermanshah that authorities blamed on an electrical fault;

-- An Aug. 6 gas pipeline kaboom in the port city of Genaveh that killed one person and injured three;

-- An Aug. 7 fire at a storage area of the Bandar Imam Khomeini Petrochemical Complex that burned for two days;

-- An Aug. 30 inferno that erupted in a sewage unit at Iran’s South Pars gas field; and

-- A Sept. 14 gas leak and fire at the Mobin Petrochemical Factory that services the South Pars gas field that injured four workers.

Initially, Brig. Gen. Gholam Reza Jalali, who heads an Iranian military unit in charge of combatting cybersabotage, dismissed any notion that the fires could have been caused by hacking. Iran’s aging oil pipelines and plants, hit hard by years of Western sanctions, have seen a rapid push to increase production this year to take advantage of the nuclear deal with world powers. Iran also faces occasional separatist attacks on its pipelines.

But on Aug. 27, Jalali acknowledged Iran’s petrochemical industry had been the target of cyberattacks. He put the blame on imported and installed components at the facilities.

"The viruses had contaminated petrochemical complexes," he said, according to a report by the state-run IRNA news agency. "Irregular commands by a virus may cause danger."

25 die in Soddy airstrike in Hodeida, Sanaa
Al-Manar
Saudi-US aggression committed on Wednesday an appalling massacre when the aerial bombardment targeted the Indians Market in Al Hawak District in Hodeida Directorate, killing a25 Yemenis, medical sources reported.

Revolution Hospital in Hodeida has made a distress call to citizens to donate blood for the wounded.

The horrific massacre comes after two ceremonies were held in the province, the first was on the occasion of Eid Al-Ghadeer, and the second was to commemorate two years of Sep. 21 Revolution. Both ceremonies were featured by the participating mass crowds.

In Sanaa, 9 people were martyred, including women and children, and six others were wounded during a Saudi-led coalition air raid on a civilian house in Mashraqa village in Razih Directorate.

Saudi Arabia is facing repeated criticism from rights groups and the international community over civilian casualties in the coalition’s military campaign against Yemen that was launched in March 2015.

More than 6,600 people, mostly civilians, have been killed by the Saudi-led war on the poorest Arab country, according to UN figures.

The Grand Turk
Life for Turkish man who beheaded Syrian child
As it should be.
A court in the southeastern province of Gaziantep has handed down an aggravated life prison sentence to a man who beheaded a 14-year-old Syrian child. Cengiz Polat, 34, cut the throat of Syrian child Ferhat Ali on March 23 while the latter was working for the former in a white appliances store in the province’s Şahinbey district, Doğan News Agency reported on Sept. 22.

Polat killed the child in order to steal 250 Turkish Liras from him and threw his severed head into a well.

The court board asked Polat for his last defense in the final hearing of the murder trial, which was held in the Gaziantep Fifth Heavy Penal Court. Polat admitted to committing the crime, which he had denied in the first trial of the case, but said that he didn’t intend to kill the child.

Saying that he was under the effect of drugs when he was cutting the child’s throat in the store’s depot, Polat requested a reduction in his sentence. The court rejected his request and gave him an aggravated lifetime prison sentence on charges of “killing a child who wasn’t in a position to defend himself with monstrous feelings.”

Meanwhile, Bülent Duran, a lawyer who joined the case as a part of the Gaziantep Bar’s Human Rights Center, said that Polat threatened the court board and the lawyers in the first hearing of the trial. According to Duran, Polat said, “I will cut more throats,” in the first hearing.
Well alrighty then -- TWO aggravated life sentences!
“The suspect denied the accusations against him in the first trial and said, ‘I’m not a manslayer.’ We joined the case as the Gaziantep Bar’s Human Rights Center. We asked to join due to the violation of the right to life and the court accepted it. The suspect’s testimony was in the direction of rejecting the charges in the first hearing,” Duran told Doğan News Agency, adding that the final decision was given in the second hearing.

“He [Polat] threatened us in the first hearing. The court also wrote that in its record and filed a criminal complaint. No deduction in the sentence was given,” he said.

Duran noted that Polat will also be tried on charges of robbery due for taking money from the child that he beheaded.

ISIS imports expired food to sell in Mosul

(IraqiNews.com) Nineveh – Local officials in Nineveh province informed Iraqi News on Thursday, that ISIS is importing expired foodstuffs and selling them to the people of Mosul, while noted to the existence of cases of poisoning among citizens.

Sharing details the source said, “One of the survivors from ISIS grip in Mosul, who turned himself to the Iraqi security forces confirmed that there are cases of food poisoning due to expired foodstuffs imported by ISIS and sold to local residents ” indicating that” This has led to the death of a number of residents. ”

“There is a great fear of these materials; the citizen of Mosul are forced to buy them because of the acute shortage of food,” pointing that “ISIS is using all the means to collect the largest possible amount of money before fleeing from the land of Mosul,” further added the source seeking anonymity.

ISIS immolates 6 suspected spies in Mosul

[ARA News] DUHOK – Extremists of the Islamic State (ISIS) have burned six civilians to death in the city of Mosul in Iraq’s northwestern Nineveh Governorate, after accusing them of ‘spying’, activists and eyewitnesses reported on Thursday.

The ISIS-led Islamic Police, also known as al-Hisba, arrested six young men in Mosul earlier on Tuesday. The ISIS leadership then accused them of leaking security information about the group’s movements in Mosul to the Kurdish Peshmerga army and US-led coalition.

The Sharia Court of Mosul said in a statement that after “interrogations” the suspects “confessed to have been cooperating with the Peshmerga and the crusader coalition” against the so-called Caliphate.

“The Sharia Court called for the most brutal punishment for those six young men. ISIS militants burned them to death in public on Thursday evening,” local media activist Abdullah al-Malla told ARA News.

The victims were charged with treason, according to the source.

“Hundreds of people witnessed the execution. Also, the victims’ families were forced to watch their sons being burned to death,” an eyewitness told ARA News, speaking on condition of anonymity.
