#3  Hillary is a smooth wonktalker. It's in her AI. Trump was talking law and order. I think most people want that

#4  Sorry - I tied up in a more productive use of my time: I'm watching oil paint dry.

#5  It feels like a tie so far, to me, but I am not really good at this kind of thing. I think some if the things Mr. Trump is saying are new to the other side of the aisle. Some of the things she said thus far increased my inclination to crawl over broken glass to vote.

ICE endorsed him? Wow. Military I would expect.
Posted by: trailing wife || 09/26/2016 22:10 Comments || Top||

#6  As much as I would prefer Mr. Trump to Ms. Clinton, I believe he is presenting himself as wholly unprepared to, vis-a-vis HRC, assume the Presidency. He looks tired and more than a little wound up, and the nasal thing is reminiscent of Al Gore. She appears calm, self-assured and condescendingly Presidential; we're used to it, though.

She's not, but appears preferable.

#7  Yet Drudge shows a "uuuuge" margin in favor of DJT by an almost 12:1. Gotta' be sampling error.
Posted by: Blossom Unains5562 || 09/26/2016 22:30 Comments || Top||

#8  It's Drudge viewers, so the sample is biased. The question is how biased.

But it will be interesting to see how Mr. Trump climbs the learning curve in the next two debates.

#13  Clinton seemed to get to talk as much as she wished, but every time Donald tried to respond, Ol' Lester suddenly had to move on to the next point. Good thing Donald has the stones to drive over the top of this obvious favoritism.
Posted by: gorb || 09/27/2016 0:27 Comments || Top||

#14  But for obvious reasons, little will be said about Lester's quite apparent bias.

Reminds of the teevee home security alarm commercials. An altering of inconvenient facts has become common practice.

#15  The question we have to ask ourselves "Do the voters actually give a **** about TV debates nowadays?"
Posted by: g(r)omgoru || 09/27/2016 6:30 Comments || Top||

#16  We could do without moderators in these so-called debates. They serve no useful purpose that I can see. Put questions in a hat and then draw them out of a hat and then let it rip. No gloves, bare knuckles anything goes, nothing is off-limits (figuratively speaking). Let it go on until someone cries uncle or collapses at the podium.

Last night seemed like a tie to me too.
Posted by: JohnQC || 09/27/2016 7:32 Comments || Top||

#17  I'll add a couple of other impressions of HRC debate.

1. “You know what else I prepared for? I prepared to be President.” (That was creepy.)
2. “Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton said the entire country suffers from implicit bias” (projection and also creepy).
3. The laughter and smile on Hillary’s face seemed inappropriate for what was going on in the debate (sometimes it indicates a psychological disorder or organic disease such as brain camcer).
Posted by: JohnQC || 09/27/2016 8:05 Comments || Top||

#18  I felt he was unprepared and missed golden opportunities to bring up Clinton's corruption. He was trying to be polite. I hope he does better next debate.

#23  I counted it a wash. Which considering a 6:1 or greater interruption of Trump to Hillary, not-neutral questions/topics, and the quick to point out illegal stop-and-frisk to not pointing out illegal destruction of evidence and unsecure classified information handling, is alright.

That is, I do not think either candidate lost last night.

#24  Also, looked like both candidates wanted to play extra innings.
Posted by: swksvolFF || 09/27/2016 13:20 Comments || Top||

#25  I think one thing should be kept in mind. By now, any one of the other 16 Republican candidates would be reduced to quivering jelly.
Posted by: g(r)omgoru || 09/27/2016 13:20 Comments || Top||

#26  Indeed.
Leaving the pitch tied 1-1 when the hotel's alarms rang all night and the other team starts 12 is not a loss.

Other trick was a constant side/side shot to give the impression of equal physical stature. Didn't think it all through; the red picked up the mic shadow - local commented it looked like a drool spot.

Trump sounded like he had a cold to boot. Looks like that is being sold as a drug habit, which in and of itself creates a paradox - OK for current president, not OK for Trump, but OK for Clinton. Garbage thinking is apparently an industry.
Posted by: swksvolFF || 09/27/2016 13:35 Comments || Top||

#27  I call it a draw. Hillary didn't die or spit up a hairball. Trump didn't look insane.

Trump could have gone at her hard, but I don't think that was the plan. Time enough later.

#28  Almost all online polls except CNN gave the debate to Trump. One would think that many of these online poll participants lean heavily to the left such as Time and others like Time and yet the polls came out in favor of Trump by a considerable margin. The ultimate poll will occur Tuesday November 8.

#29  Considering he was debating both HRC and the moderator, not bad.

#30  Sorry but Trump has only himself to blame. He got so many chances to raise issues that hurt Hillary but let them go to defend his own stuff like taxes etc.

He needed to be prepared to hit her hard with facts about the emails but rather conceded it was "smart" to pay no federal income taxes or take advantage of the housing crash. When the topic cyber security came up he got a second chance to talk about Hillary's irresponsible sloppiness wit classified info. Didn't happen.

He even got the golden opportunity to talk about Benghazi when Hillary - unwisely - brought up her 11 hours of testifying. He didn't.

He rambled about her "bad experience". What he should have done is to hammer her on granting favors to donators. Another opportunity missed.

He showed up with a knife to a gunfight.

Jonah Goldberg: "The White Man is the Jew of Liberal Fascism"
h/t Instapundit
Few lines from my book have generated more rage and ridicule than this one. It’s all over the lefty blogosphere.

...But since I have room here to explain, I will.
One of the more under-appreciated motives of the Nazi extermination campaign against the Jews was how it was driven by paranoia. Nazi anti-Semitism wasn’t merely bigoted, it was conspiratorial. The Nazis and affiliated intellectuals firmly believed that the Jew was behind the scenes, pulling strings, manipulating events, rigging the system -- even the language -- in profound and pernicious ways. Carl Schmitt -- quite popular on the left today -- was tasked with the job of purging the Jewish spirit from the law. Other similar projects were launched across the political, economic and intellectual landscape.

...Politically, the Nazis insisted that "the Jews" had attacked Germany first. Every bad circumstance or inconvenient fact could be laid at the feet of the Jews. Hitler even proclaimed that the conscience itself was a Jewish invention designed to keep the oppressed Aryans and others down. While still a Nazi collaborator, Paul de Man-- the revered postmodern theorist who eventually taught at Yale and Cornell--wrote of the Jews, "Their cerebralness, their capacity to assimilate doctrines while maintaining a cold detachment from them," is one of "the specific characteristics of the Jewish mind." I could go on, but you probably get it.

...Now look at today’s culture. In academia you have the proliferation of "Whiteness Studies," simply the most absurd discipline dedicated to purging the "white mind" from society.
Most run by white professors
...These attitudes ultimately stem from the view that the white man, like the Jew, represents every facet of what is wrong and oppressive to humanity. As Susan Sontag proclaimed in 1967, "The white race is the cancer of human history."

Charlotte, NC man shot by police was sold stolen gun
[CHARLOTTE WTVD] -- The gun that Keith Scott had on him during the deadly shooting was reported stolen after a breaking and entering, police said.
No mention of the fact he was a convicted felon who should not have had a firearm in his possession.
The breaking and entering suspect told ATF Agents that he sold the gun to Scott. The suspect is in custody.

Scott's wife filed a domestic violence protective order on him in 2015 saying he hit his child, kicked her and threatened to kill them with his gun, ABC affiliate WSOC reported Monday evening.

Video of Scott being shot by officers was released on Saturday. Police also released images of a gun, holster, and marijuana they say were recovered from the scene.

Lawyers for a coalition of media groups have written a letter asking for more video footage and other information related to a fatal police shooting.

Both sides have it wrong. Society has a problem on its hands. Most of these angry young men grew up without a father figure. Secondly they were never introduced to the optional Father figure. Lay this at the feet of liberalism.

Victims of liberalism are both the angry young black man and the cop on the beat.

Trump Sees the Jihadist Trojan Horse
[American Thinker] Ever wonder why there are so many Muslims and Muslim countries in the world? Over the millennia many countries were conquered, but didn't remain Persian or Greek or Roman as the case may be. You see, the countries conquered in the name of Islam, became and remained Islamic. For example Pakistan, part of India, and Malaysia both were Hindu; Turkey, Iraq, Syria, Egypt and N. Africa were Christian; Afghanistan was Buddhist. They are all Islamic now.

This transformation was not by chance but by design. All these countries were conquered by force then shorn of their wealth and many of their women. Then the Muslim conquerors introduced Sharia and continued fighting the local inhabitants. The inhabitants were either forced to convert or accorded Dhimmi status. As time went on all cultures submitted and eventually became Islamic.

White House says Obama uses email pseudonym for security
[Wash Times] President Obama’s use of a pseudonym when emailing then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on her private email server was a security measure to protect his communications, the White House said Monday.

"There are some common-sense security measures that are put in place to protect the president’s email," said White House press secretary Josh Earnest. "The fact that it’s not easy to predict what the president’s email address is, is one of those measures."

Documents released by the FBI last week showed that Mr. Obama used a pseudonym when sending or receiving emails through the private server system Mrs. Clinton used.

Mr. Earnest said all of Mr. Obama’s emails will be archived when he leaves office.

Missing Afghan Trainees here in the U.S. Raises Terrorism Fears
[Free Beacon] Several Afghan nationals undergoing military training in the United States disappeared from U.S. military bases this month, according to Pentagon and Homeland Security officials.

"During the month of September, seven Afghan students were considered absent without leave (AWOL) during international military student programs," Pentagon spokesman Cmdr. Patrick L. Evans said.

Three of the Afghan military trainees fled from a Pentagon training program two weekends ago during the bombing spree in New York and New Jersey by Afghan-born bombing suspect Ahmad Rahami, raising concerns among security officials that the missing Afghan students may be linked to terrorism or plans for attacks in the United States.

The disappearance of the Afghans comes amid heightened fears of increasing Islamist terror attacks around the country. The attacks have included the New York area bombings and attempted bombings, a knife attack at a Minnesota mall by a Somali jihadist, and other regional shootings.

Two of the missing Afghans had been training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, and one was training at Fort Gordon, Georgia.

An Army source said the Afghans who left the weekend of the New York area bombings appeared to be part of a coordinated effort. The three men are being probed for possible connections to Rahami. "Initial assessment is that there is not relation and the timing is coincidental," the source said.

‘Hundreds of Thousands' of Democrats Have Switched Registration in OH and PA to Vote TRUMP
[Breitbart] Christian Rickers, executive director of Trumpocrats PAC, told Breitbart News Daily SiriusXM host Alex Marlow Tuesday, "We've got hundreds of thousands of Democrats who have switched registration in Ohio and Pennsylvania, several hundred thousand, and you don't see those articles."

Rickers claimed that despite the group's successful efforts at recruiting hundreds of thousands of Democrats to support Republican nominee Donald Trump, they have been mostly ignored by a media far more interested in covering a handful of Washington-based Republicans unhappy with Trump as their nominee. He specifically discussed difficulties in getting any attention for his PAC's efforts from television networks, such as MSNBC and CNN.

Hillary Clinton Just Said The Entire Country Suffers From Implicit Racial Bias
[Daily Caller] Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton said the entire country suffers from implicit bias during the first presidential debate with GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump.

During the debate on policing, the right policy measures to implement in order to reduce crime and how to improve race relations in the country, Clinton said the entire country -- not just the police -- suffers from implicit racial bias.

"Lester, I think implicit bias is a problem for everyone, not just police," Clinton said, in response to the question: "Do you believe that police are implicitly biased against black people?"

"I think, unfortunately, too many of us in our great country jump to conclusions about each other, and therefore, I think we need all of us to be asking hard questions about, why am I feeling this way?" she added.

-Short Attention Span Theater-
Donald Trump's strange speaking style, as explained by linguists
When Donald Trump goes off script, transcribing him can be a challenge. As someone covering him during this campaign, I can attest to this. When he’s speaking off the cuff, his rambling remarks can be full of digressions and hard-to-follow tangents. He often jumps to an entirely new thought before finishing his previous one.

Consider this Trump comment on the Iran nuclear deal during a campaign rally in South Carolina on July 21, 2015. Try to follow the train of thought here:

Look, having nuclear -- my uncle was a great professor and scientist and engineer, Dr. John Trump at MIT; good genes, very good genes, okay, very smart, the Wharton School of Finance, very good, very smart -- you know, if you’re a conservative Republican, if I were a liberal, if, like, okay, if I ran as a liberal Democrat, they would say I'm one of the smartest people anywhere in the world -- it’s true! -- but when you're a conservative Republican they try -- oh, do they do a number -- that’s why I always start off: Went to Wharton, was a good student, went there, went there, did this, built a fortune -- you know I have to give my like credentials all the time, because we’re a little disadvantaged -- but you look at the nuclear deal, the thing that really bothers me -- it would have been so easy, and it’s not as important as these lives are (nuclear is powerful; my uncle explained that to me many, many years ago, the power and that was 35 years ago; he would explain the power of what's going to happen and he was right -- who would have thought?), but when you look at what's going on with the four prisoners -- now it used to be three, now it’s four -- but when it was three and even now, I would have said it's all in the messenger; fellas, and it is fellas because, you know, they don't, they haven’t figured that the women are smarter right now than the men, so, you know, it’s gonna take them about another 150 years -- but the Persians are great negotiators, the Iranians are great negotiators, so, and they, they just killed, they just killed us.

Trump’s simple message -- "the Iran deal is bad for the United States" -- was interrupted by musings on his uncle’s education, his own education, the power of nuclear energy, prisoners, the intelligence of women, and the negotiating prowess of Iranians, seemingly without rhyme or reason. Slate even called on the public to help diagram it.

Others have noticed this as well. "His speeches are full of non sequiturs," says Kristin Kobes Du Mez, a Calvin College historian who has done a comparative study of Trump and Hillary Clinton’s speaking styles. It’s a completely different style from nearly any other politician you normally see on a big stage.

So I was curious if professional linguists and historians could help us figure out what makes Trump unique. Are there any precedents for this speaking style? Is it coherent? Is there a reason it appeals to certain people?

There were lots of disagreements on this front, but one thing stood out: Trump’s speeches aren’t meant to be read. Their seeming incoherence stems from the big difference between written and spoken language. Trump’s style of speaking has its roots in oral culture. He rallies people through impassioned, targeted conversation -- even if it doesn’t always follow a clear arc. But is it effective? That’s a much harder question.

Why Trump’s speeches are incomprehensible to some -- and make perfect sense to others

Only a few of Trump’s big speeches are scripted. At many of his rallies, by contrast, he speaks off the cuff. We get a lot of unscripted moments, with fractured, unfinished sentences, moving quickly from thought to thought.

To some (or many), this style is completely incoherent. But not everyone feels this way. Many people clearly walk away from Trump rallies having seemingly understood what he said.

Why is that? It’s the difference between reading Trump’s remarks and listening to them in real time. University of Pennsylvania linguist Mark Liberman has explained this in more detail:

This apparent incoherence has two main causes: false starts and parentheticals. Both are effectively signaled in speaking -- by prosody along with gesture, posture, and gaze -- and therefore largely factored out by listeners. But in textual form the cues are gone, and we lose the thread.

In other words, Trump’s digressions and rambles are much easier to follow in person thanks to subtle cues.

Trump’s style of speaking is conversational, and may even stem from his New York City upbringing. As George Lakoff, a linguist at UC Berkeley, told me, "[The] thing about being a New Yorker it is polite if you finish their sentences for them. It’s a natural part of conversation."

This may be why Trump’s sentences often seem, in transcript form, to trail off with no ending. "He knows his audience can finish his sentences for him," Lakoff says.

Watching Trump, it’s easy to see how this plays out. He makes vague implications with a raised eyebrow or a shrug, allowing his audience to reach their own conclusions. And that conversational style can be effective. It’s more intimate than a scripted speech. People walk away from Trump feeling as though he were casually talking to them, allowing them to finish his thoughts.

Yet to many linguists, Trump stands out for how often he deploys these conversational tics. "Trump's frequency of divergence is unusual," Liberman says. In other words, he goes off topic way more often than the average person in conversation.

Geoffrey Pullum, a linguist at University of Edinburgh, argues that there’s more going on than just a conversational, I’ll-let-you-fill-in-the-gaps-style. Trump’s unorganized sentences and short snippets might suggest something about how his mind works. "His speech suggests a man with scattered thoughts, a short span of attention, and a lack of intellectual discipline and analytical skills," Pullum says.

More sophisticated thinkers and speakers (including many past presidents), Pullum argues, are able to use "hypotaxis -- that is, embedding of clauses within clauses." Trump can’t seem to do that.

Pullum explains further: "When you say something like 'While Congress shows no interest in doing X, I feel that the American people believe it is essential,' the clause ’it is essential’ is inside the clause ’the American people believe it is essential’ which is inside the clause ’I feel that the American people believe it is essential,’ and so on. You get no such organized thoughts from Trump. It's bursts of noun phrases, self-interruptions, sudden departures from the theme, flashes of memory, odd side remarks. ... It's the disordered language of a person with a concentration problem."

Trump’s speeches can be appealing because he uses a lot of salesmen’s tricks

Lakoff, for his part, has an explanation for why Trump’s style of speaking is so appealing to many. Many of Trump’s most famous catchphrases are actually versions of time-tested speech mechanisms that salesmen use. They’re powerful because they help shape our unconscious.

Take, for example, Trump’s frequent use of "Many people are saying..." or "Believe me" -- often right after saying something that is baseless or untrue. This tends to sound more trustworthy to listeners than just outright stating the baseless claim, since Trump implies that he has direct experience with what he’s talking about. At a base level, Lakoff argues, people are more inclined to believe something that seems to have been shared.

Or when Trump keeps calling Clinton "crooked," or keeps referring to terrorists as "radical Muslims," he’s strengthening the association through repetition. He also calls his supporters "folks," to show he is one of them (though many politicians employ this trick). Trump doesn’t repeat phrases and adjectives because he is stalling for time, Liberman says; for the most part, he’s providing emphasis and strengthening the association.

These are normal techniques, particularly in conversational speech. "Is he reading cognitive science? No. He has 50 years of experience as a salesman who doesn’t care who he is selling to," Lakoff says. On this account, Trump uses similar methods in his QVC-style pitch of steaks and vodka as when he talks about his plan to stop ISIS.

"He has been doing this for a very long time as a salesman -- that’s what he is best at," Lakoff says.

People understand Trump on an emotional level

To some extent, Trump's style has been successful -- Trump beat out a highly competitive field of lifelong Republicans to become the party’s nominee. He's confident enough to address large crowds conversationally and ad-lib on stage.

That said, his rise can’t be attributed purely to his speaking style. It certainly has a lot to do with what he is actually saying. "If the content were different, I think it would come across as rambling and flabby and ineffective," Liberman says.

In other words, when Trump’s audience finishes his sentences for him, the blanks are filled with sentiments that resonate: fears of joblessness, worries about the United States losing its status as a major world power, concerns about foreign terrorist organizations. Trump validates their insecurities and justifies their anger. He connects on an emotional level, Du Mez says.

"For listeners who identify with Trump, there is little they need to do but claim what they’re entitled to," she says. "No need for sacrifice, for compromise, for complexity. He taps into fear and insecurity, but then enables his audience to express that fear through anger. And anger gives the illusion of empowerment."

In style alone, however, this "emotional" appeal may not be enough to portray a strong leader. As much as the American people look for authenticity and spontaneity in a president, which Trump seems to have mastered, they are also known to value discipline in their leaders.

"Leadership is hard; it needs discipline, concentration, and an ability to ignore what's irrelevant or needless or personal or silly," Pullum says. "There is no sign of it from Trump. This man talks honestly enough that you can see what he's like: He's an undisciplined narcissist who craves power but doesn't have the intellectual capacity to exercise it wisely."

Duterte: No amnesty for Abu Sayyaf
[RAPPLER] Under his watch, members of the Abu Sayyaf
...also known as al-Harakat al-Islamiyya, an Islamist terror group based in Jolo, Basilan and Zamboanga. Since its inception in the early 1990s, the group has carried out bombings, kidnappings, murders, head choppings, and extortion in their uniquely Islamic attempt to set up an independent Moslem province in the Philippines. Abu Sayyaf forces probably number less than 300 cadres. The group is closely allied with remnants of Indonesia's Jemaah Islamiya and has loose ties with MILF and MNLF who sometimes provide cannon fodder...
Group (ASG) will never be granted amnesty, said President Rodrigo Duterte.

"The Abu Sayyaf were decapitating people like they would just fowls and pigs and goats. And there will be no talks. The Armed Forces is right, rejecting amnesty for them. I will not, I will never. There will never be an amnesty for so much killing," said Duterte on Monday, September 26.

He was speaking at the oath-taking ceremony of Malacañang Press Corps officers at the Palace.

Apparently, the suggestion to include the Abu Sayyaf in peace talks, with the possibility of the granting of amnesty, was suggested by Moro National Liberation Front (MILF) leader Nur Misuari.

Misuari had facilitated the release of Norwegian hostage Kjartan Sekkingstad from the ASG. According to an exclusive Rappler report, Misuari may have even earned from Sekkingstad's release.

"Then Nur, problem is Nur, parang hinihigop niya iyong ‐ isali na niya iyong Abu Sayyaf (it's like he wants to include the Abu Sayyaf), which I would like to tell the nation now: No. I will not talk peace with the Abu Sayyaf," said Duterte.

He is averse to the idea because including the bandit group in talks would be "like slapping the nation," said Duterte.

India-Pakistan
India says Pakistan believes terror will bring territory
[WASHINGTONPOST] Pakistain continues to believe terrorist attacks will allow it to obtain territory it covets in Jammu and Kashmire, India’s foreign minister said Monday.

In her speech before the U.N. General Assembly, Sushma Swaraj also rejected accusations made by Pakistain’s prime minister from the same podium last week that India violates human rights
...which are often intentionally defined so widely as to be meaningless...
, calling them "baseless."

She said India has a man in jug "whose confession is a living proof of Pakistain’s complicity in cross-border terror. But when confronted with such evidence, Pakistain remains in denial."

"It persists in the belief that such attacks will enable it to obtain the territory it covets," Swaraj said. "My firm advice to Pakistain is: abandon this dream. Let me state unequivocally that Jammu and Kashmire is an integral part of India and will always remain so."

Exercising her right to reply, Pakistain’s U.N. Ambassador Maleeha Lodhi dismissed Swaraj’s speech as "a litany of falsehoods."

"These allegations are designed principally to deflect global attention from the brutalities being perpetrated by India’s over half a million occupation force against innocent and unarmed Kashmiri children, women and men in the Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmire," Lodhi said.

She called for a full and impartial investigation of Indian atrocities and human rights violations in Kashmire.

On Sept. 18, bully boyz slipped into an army base in Indian-controlled Kashmire, killing at least 18 soldiers. Four bully boyz were killed in the attack, which occurred near the highly militarized line that divides Kashmire between India and Pakistain.

The victims had their hands and legs chained before they were executed in a public square in the city of Mosul.

The majority of the victims were from Arab and foreign nationalities.

According to the website, the executions were carried out in front of citizens and other ISIS members. The group wanted the victims to be an example of the punishment its members would receive if they thought of fleeing the battlefield.

Security forces and popular crowd managed earlier to liberate Sharqat and the surrounding villages from ISIS control. The forces also inflicted heavy losses on ISIS militants.

China Air Force Conducts West Pacific Drill, Patrols ADIZ

NANJING, Sept. 25 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese Air Force on Sunday sent more than 40 aircraft of various types to the West Pacific, via the Miyako Strait, for a routine drill on the high seas, a spokesperson said.

Shen Jinke, spokesperson of the People's Liberation Army Air Force, said the fleet, including H-6K bombers, Su-30 fighters, and air tankers, conducted reconnaissance and early warning, attacks on sea surface targets, and in-flight refueling to test the Air Force's fighting capacity on the high seas.

Bombers and fighters of the PLA Air Force also conducted routine patrol in the East China Sea Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ), the spokesperson said at an east China airport.

Shen said routine drills in the West Pacific and patrols in the East China Sea ADIZ are conducted "in accordance with the needs of the Air Force to defend national sovereignty and security, as well as to maintain peaceful development."

Since the East China Sea ADIZ was set up nearly three years ago, the Air Force has kept regular patrols.

The Air Force will continue patrolling in the East China Sea ADIZ to uphold the legitimate rights and interests of China. It will keep conducting various training to improve its combat capacity, Shen said.

Afghanistan
Killing of Pakistani Taliban leader proof Afghanistan not harboring terrorists
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The killing of one of the most big shots of the Pak Taliban, Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistain (TTP), is a proof Afghanistan is not harboring terrorists, the Afghan Ambassador to Pakistain Dr. Omar Zakhilwal said.

"Killing of top TTP commander, Azam Tariq, in an operation by Afg security forces in Paktika
...which coincidentally borders South Wazoo...
is yet another proof that Afg is not in business of harboring holy warriors as ’assets’, regardless of who they intend to target; and does not distinguish between ’good’ and ’bad’ of them," Zakhilwal said in a statement posted online.

The Afghan Ambassador further added "In fact, to date every TTP leader of any importance has been killed by our security or/and coalition forces from Afghanistan. Azam Tariq was currently ranked as the 4th most important TTP leader and Pakistain had put about $200 thousand US dollars on his head."

Tariq was the former front man of Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistain and his death is considered as a big loss for the group.

Senior TTP members have confirmed Tariq’s death terming it a big loss for the splinter Mahsud myrmidon group, headed by Commander Khan Said alias Sajna.

Azam Tariq’s real name was Raees Khan. He belonged to the Mahsud tribe inhabiting South Wazoo where the security forces have been engaged in operations against the bully boyz since 2009.

SA Macadamia Nut Model Collective Farm nearly Tango Uniform
[News24] Mbombela - A macadamia farming project by young farmers, which has been hailed by government as a model for land reform projects, is on the verge of collapse.

In 2011 five aspirant Mpumalanga farmers acquired the 65-hectare farm worth R5.35 million.

But five years on, the business situated in Schagen, 30km from Mbombela, is collapsing ‐ with the young farmers accusing provincial rural development and land reform officials of sabotaging their project by starving it of resources and support services.

The Insimu Yami Cooperative comprised of Julius Sibiya (34), Trinity Mondlane (31), Phindile Mondlane (27), Cynthia Zitha (21) and Wandile Ndlovu (25) now faces liquidation by debtors. The electricity is already switched off due to non-payment of a whopping R2.8 million bill, and criminals are stealing from the property piece by piece.

The hip, trendy group of youngsters who would otherwise have pursued sexier jobs, had been identified by the department of rural development and land reform and were given a grant of R2.7 million under the land distribution for agricultural development programme. They then topped up the grant with a loan of R2.65 million from a commercial bank.
Hipsters lacking business and technical skills run through horrendous amount of start-up funding without producing anything tangible? How unexpected.

Kurds drive back ISIS attack on Manbij
[ARA News] MANBIJ – Militants of the Islamic State (ISIS) launched on Monday an offensive on the western countryside of Manbij city, in northern Syria, bombing a security checkpoint for the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

The group said in a statement, released by the jihadi Amaq Agency, that nine Kurdish fighters and an American volunteer were killed in the attack.

In the meantime, the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) –a leading member of the SDF– said they repelled the ISIS attack after destroying two ISIS vehicles and killing over a dozen of militants near the Ilan town west of Manbij.

“Our units foiled an ISIS attempt to infiltrate into the Ilan town on Monday,” the YPG officer S. Mirkhan told ARA News in Manbij.

The Kurdish official denied ISIS claims of killing an American member of the YPG, saying that two Kurdish fighters lost their lives and four others were wounded in the attack.

The ISIS radical group launched the offensive in a bid to regain positions near Manbij city, less than two months after losing the area to the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces.

This comes one month after the Turkish army and allied rebel groups launched the Euphrates Shields operation and took Jarablus city, north of Manbij. Turkey then demanded the Kurdish factions of the SDF to withdraw from Manbij and its countryside.

“The Turkish intervention in Syria has paved the way for ISIS to return to the area and attack the countryside of Manbij,” Mirkhan said. “Our forces, in cooperation with the US-led coalition, have liberated Manbij from ISIS. Despite the Turkish threats, we reassure the people of Manbij that we won’t allow the ISIS terrorists to regain their positions there.”

US Aid
The US-led coalition has started to provide humanitarian assistance to civilians in the Syrian city of Manbij, a coalition spokesman said. This aid comes after the local council in Manbij requested immediate support.

“In continuing to provide humanitarian assistance to Manbij, the coalition is facilitating the delivery of more than 200 metric tons of food that will be provided to about 2,400 families through the Manbij Organization for Relief and Development,” the coalition’s spokesman Colonel John Dorrian.

“The food includes essentials such as rice, flour, chickpeas, and tomato paste, baby formula and water purifying tablets. In some cases, this means families will get anywhere from 30 to 60 days of food and supplies. In addition, the coalition is providing training to remove many of the explosive remnants of war that Daesh typically leave behind once they’ve been driven from an area,” he added, using another acronym for the Islamic State (ISIS).

The city of Manbij was liberated by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in early August, but the local Manbij council has struggled to feed the civilian population. Although the SDF have received material support, there has been almost no humanitarian aid either to Kobane or Manbij–two major Syrian cities, scared by fighting between the SDF and ISIS.

The Manbij Organization for Relief and Development, established In June, has provided food and medicines to Manbij civilians without support from third parties. Last week, they asked for international support.

In addition to hunger, Manbij residents also have to cope with landmines which were planted by ISIS. The city is still full of improvised explosive devices, which have killed at least three school children.

Bangladesh
6 JMB men arrested in West Bengal, Assam
[Dhaka Tribune] Three of the JMB men are Bangladeshis and hold high ranks in the outfit's West Bengal wing, according to Kolkata police.

Six top members of Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), including suspects in the 2014 Burdwan blast case, have been locked away
Youse'll never take me alive coppers!... [BANG!]... Ow!... I quit!
by the Special Task Force (STF) of Kolkata police in the Indian states of West Bengal and Assam.

Of the six, three have been identified as Bangladeshi nationals, The Statesman reported on Monday quoting STF chief and Kolkata Police (Crime) Joint Commissioner Vishal Garg.

The arrestees are: Anwar Hussain Faruk alias Enam alias Kalobhai; Mawlana Yusuf alias Bakkar alias Abu Khetab; Zahidul Sheikh alias Zafar alias Zabirul; Md Rafique alias Md Rubel alias Pichchi; Shahidul Islam alias Surya alias Shamim and Abdul Kalam alias Kalim, reported Anandabazar Patrika.

Of them, Faruk, Rubel and Kalam are from Bangladesh and are top-ranking leaders of the JMB in India, according to the STF.

Anandabazar reported that five among the six detained men were enlisted as suspects in the charge sheet of Burdwan blast case on October 2, 2014.

Moreover, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) of India put bounty on the arrest of all six, the report said.

During interrogation, the arrestees confessed to planning attacks in south or northeast India, Vishal Garg said at a presser in Lalbazar, Kolkata on Monday.

"The arrestees were not in West Bengal after the Khagragarh blast [in Burdwan]. They fled to southern and northeastern states," he said.

The arrestees used codes to communicate with each other; the STF decoded one of their messages to find them, he said.

The first arrest was Zahidul in Cachar district of Assam on Saturday.

During interrogation, he confessed that he was an activist of JMB and gave information on several other activists, Anandabazar quoted the STF chief as saying.

Following Zahidul’s lead, police nabbed Kalam at New Coochbehar train station the next day. Police claim that Kalam was trying to enter West Bengal via Assam and he was sent from Bangladesh to run the JMB wing in Cachar.

Faruk and Rubel were arrested on Sunday on Bangaon-Bagda Road in West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas, near the Bangladesh-India border.

Garg said both were from Jamalpur district in Bangladesh. Faruk is the chief of JMB’s West Bengal unit and Rubel is an expert on improvised bomb (IED) and a coordinator who provided shelter to JMB activists from Bangladesh.

On the same day, Yusuf and Shahidul were arrested at Natun Bazar area in Bashirhat, North 24 Parganas. Shahidul is the chief of JMB wing in Northeast India and the main planner of JMB’s subversive acts in India, according to the STF.

Yusuf had a Rs10 lakh bounty on his head, while Kalam and Rafique had Rs3 lakh and Rs1 lakh bounties, respectively, The Statesman reported.

Police also seized documents of future attacks, forged ID papers, 2kg of white explosive powder, a laptop, several mobile phones, detonators, wire cutters, batteries, letters written in Bangla and both Bangladeshi and Indian currencies from the arrestees.

Rafique had a Bangladeshi trade licence and a book on chemical compounds, the STF chief said.

Police were set to send the arrestees to court, he added.

Shafi, who worked as a teacher at an English medium school before going missing in mid-2015, and two of his Bangladeshi associates spoke on camera in the first IS video released from Raqqa, Syria on July 6 hailing the Holey Artisan Bakery attack that killed 23 people including 17 foreigners on July 1.

While the video created much hype in social media, the trio were identified by their friends and family members, as well as the law enforcers.

'Underground' NKorean bank probed by China: report
[AA.TR] A North Korean bank branch in China is being investigated for secretly operating despite being ordered to shut up shop, according to sources cited by South Korean media Monday.

Executives and employees of Kwangson Banking Corporation's Dandong branch along with local trade officials are all reportedly under the scrutiny of Chinese authorities.

"The Dandong branch of Kwangson Bank in March was pinpointed as an entity to be closed down under the UN [United Nations
...the Oyster Bay money pit...
] Security Council Resolution 2270 but until recently moved offices and continued to secretly operate without a signboard," a source was quoted as revealing to the JoongAng Ilbo newspaper.

Kwangson is affiliated with North Korea’s state-run Foreign Trade Bank and was blacklisted after January's fourth ever nuclear test by the reclusive state -- the North conducted a fifth, even more powerful detonation earlier this month and is set to face yet stronger sanctions.

Bolstered punitive measures might include getting tougher on third parties who do business involving barred North Korean entities or commodities.

Having been accused for years of propping up the ailing North's regime, China is now being seen to be making moves against those thought to have flouted existing sanctions -- including Dandong conglomerate Hongxiang Group.

Raised-fist Olympians punished in 1968 will be received at White House
[Reuters] Tommie Smith and John Carlos, the two African-American athletes sent home from the 1968 Olympic Games for their raised-fist protest on the medal podium, will receive a long-awaited moment of redemption at a U.S. team event at the White House this week.

The two were invited by the U.S. Olympic Committee to attend a gala dinner on Wednesday in Washington honoring the 2016 Olympic team and accompany the team to meet President Barack Obama at the White House the following day, Carlos told Reuters on Sunday.

The image of Smith and Carlos, gold and bronze medalists in the 200-meter track event in Mexico City, thrusting their black-gloved fists into the air, has become an enduring symbol of the fight for racial equality.

Their example has surfaced repeatedly in past weeks as an inspiration to African-American National Football League and college players protesting racial injustice after the fatal shootings of several black men by police.

Smith and Carlos paid a high price for their protest, not only with the Olympic Committee but also in the court of public opinion.

"It was against the charter of the Olympic Committee to make a political statement at the victory podium," Carlos said in a phone interview. "But we felt it was the only place we could make the statement at that time."

Standing in black socks, the two Americans bowed their heads and pushed their fists into the air as the U.S. anthem played, shocking the world and many Americans reeling from a turbulent year in the fight for civil rights. They were suspended from the U.S. Olympic team and sent back to the United States.

Syrian Army, Hezbollah attack strategic district in southern Aleppo
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Syrian Arab Army (SAA), backed by Hezbollah, continued their large-scale assault in southern Aleppo on Saturday, targeting the strategic Sheikh Sa'eed District that is under Jaish al-Fateh's (Army of Conquest) control.

According to local activists in southern Aleppo, the Syrian Armed Forces and Hezbollah have made considerable progress inside the Sheikh Sa'eed District, capturing several building blocks under the cover of Russian Arclight airstrikes.

Clashes are still ongoing at the moment, as the Syrian Armed Forces and Hezbollah push deeper into the Sheikh Sa'eed District's empty neighborhoods.

Civilian corpse count mounts in ISIS mortar shelling
[ARA News] ALEPPO – The Islamic State’s (ISIS) militant fighters attacked on Monday the town of Maree in Syria’s northern Aleppo province with mortar shells, causing casualties among civilians, activists reported.

At least four people were killed and 12 others wounded when ISIS militants bombarded a marketplace in central Maree.

“ISIS militants fired mortar shells from their strongholds in the nearby Talalin town,” local media activist Amer al-Hafiz told ARA News.

“The group has directly targeted a crowded marketplace in Maree,” the source reported. “Four dead bodies have been found so far. Also, 12 seriously injured civilians were pulled from under the rubble on Monday evening.”

Maree town is one of the major strongholds for the Syrian armed opposition in the northern countryside of Aleppo. ISIS has been trying to capture the town in order to reopen a supply line for its militants in the province, especially after losing key areas to the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and rebel groups in northern Syria.

fighters were killed in two separate encounters in Nigeria’s northeastern Borno state on Sunday as government troops intensified operations to clear the insurgency from the region, according to the military.

Separately on Sunday, Usman said four soldiers were killed in a Boko Haram attack on troops’ position in Logomani area of the state.

"Our troops fought gallantly and repelled the attack which lasted for about one hour. At the end of the fierce encounter, the troops counted 22 dead bodies of Boko Haram fighters," the front man said.

He said troops also recovered two AK-47s, one FN, one G3 and some 36 hand grenades.

"Unfortunately, we lost four soldiers and their rifles as a result of the effect of Boko Haram use of Rocket Propelled Grenades, while two soldiers were also maimed in action," he added.

Al-Moallem: Syria ready to support formation of unity government
[ENGLISH.ALMANAR.LB] Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Moallem said Syrian was ready to engage in initiatives that could lead to the establishment of a unity government in the war-torn country.

In an interview with Leb-based al-Mayadeen TV aired on Monday, Moallem said the Damascus government has proposed a political roadmap that could put an end to more than five years of war in the Arab country.

He said Damascus would support the idea of holding a referendum on a new constitution followed by parliamentary elections and the formation of a unity government.

Moallem said, however, that a main obstacle to the political settlement of the conflict in Syria was the support provided by governments like the United States, Britannia and La Belle France and their allies in the Middle East to bully boyz operating in the Arab country.

He accused the three Western countries of convening a meeting of the UN Security Council on Sunday to support bully boyz in Syria.

The top Syrian diplomat said the truce deal brokered by Moscow and Washington two weeks ago is still viable. He, however, blamed the US military for the collapse of the ceasefire by mounting a deliberate attack on Syrian armed forces positioned in a military base east of the country.

He said the attack two weeks ago the army positions on Tharda Mountain in Dayr al-Zawr was deliberate and in coordination with ISIS Takfiri

Bulgaria court error delays trial Hezbollah-linked bus bombing
[Beirut Daily Star] The trial over a deadly 2012 bombing of Israeli tourists in Bulgaria, due to start on Monday, has been pushed back to November because of a procedural error, prosecutors said.

The opening was delayed because the Sofia court had failed to inform the victims' families of the start date, prosecutors told AFP.

The proceedings against two alleged suspects in the attack, who are on the run and being tried in absentia, will now start on Nov. 10.

A Franco-Lebanese national, identified as Mohamad Hassan El-Husseini, blew up a bus carrying Israeli tourists at the airport of the Black Sea coast resort of Burgas on July 18, 2012, prosecutors allege.

Five Israelis, their Bulgarian driver and the bomber himself died in the attack, which left 35 other Israelis hurt.

Bulgarian authorities identified the attacker's alleged accomplices as two Lebanese men with links to the Lebanese group Hezbollah, named as Australian passport holder Meliad Farah and Canadian citizen Hassan El Hajj Hassan.

The attack - which both Israel and Bulgaria blamed on Hezbollah - was the deadliest hit against Israelis abroad since 2004.

Hezbollah condoles the death of Palestinian prisoner Yasser Hamdouna in Zionist jails
[ENGLISH.ALMANAR.LB] Hezbollah condoled on Monday the death of 40-year-old Paleostinian prisoner Yasser Hamdouna in Zionist jails, holding the Zionist enemy fully responsible for his death out of medical negligence being practiced against all Paleostinian detainees.

"Israelis insistence on Hamdouna’s detention since 2003 and recklessness to provide him with medical care during his last days led to this tragic end. This confirms that Zionist authorities exercise a silent extermination policy against the prisoners, and draws many questions about the fate of prisoners and detainees under the unjust enemy authority," Hezbollah said in a statement.

The silence of international communities and Human Rights organizations is paving the way for more Israeli medical abuse against the Paleostinians, especially prisoners, not to forget the Zionist siege on Paleostinians in the West Bank, Gazoo and other areas, the statement read.

Hamdouna, a resident of the occupied northern West Bank city of Jenein, suffered a stroke on Sunday morning and was pronounced dead upon arrival at a medical centre in the city of Beersheba. He had been suffering from recurrent shortness of breath, heart problems as well as agonizing pains in his left ear and his condition further deteriorated in the wake of Israeli prison authorities’ delay in providing treatment for him, Paleostinian sources confirmed.

Hezbollah ended its statement by offering heartfelt condolences to the martyr’s family and those who loved him, urging people to raise their voice in the face of the multi-faceted Zionist terrorism threatening humanity all over the world.

Al-Shabaab parade bodies of Kenyan policemen in Somalia
[Daily Nation (Kenya)] The two coppers who went missing after the Hamey Police Station attack on Thursday morning were killed and their bodies taken to Somalia.

Their bodies were paraded by al-Shabaab
... the Islamic version of the old Somali warlord...
bully boyz at their headquarters in Jilib, Somalia. They have been identified as Constable Job Kibet and Constable Kiprotich Ng’eno.

Some 4,484 rounds of ammunition, an MG3 machine gun, two G3 rifles and a VHF radio set were also taken by the bully boyz in the raid at the camp in Garissa County, according to a brief sent to police headquarters in Nairobi by Dadaab police.

On Thursday last week, National Police Service front man George Kinoti said that over 50 bully boyz in two Toyota Land Cruisers launched the attack but officers in the camp managed to repulse them.

"The attackers retreated and later returned in bigger numbers in a lorry and fired three bombs into the camp, destroying some tents thus forcing our officers to withdraw for cover," said Mr Kinoti.

During the attack, Constable Justus Egesa was shot in the head and was later airlifted to Nairobi for treatment.

Constables Robert Kinuthia, Stephen Mutua, and Reuben Kiprono suffered light injuries. They were rescued and taken to Dadaab Hospital for treatment.

Sergeant Godfrey Kailutha and Constable Peter Kambutha escaped without any injuries, according to the police.

After the attack, the bully boyz burnt down four tents and drove away in a police vehicle.

"Following subsequent reinforcement, all officers have been accounted for except two," said Mr Kinoti.

Police also confirmed that the photos doing the rounds on social media were those of the missing police vehicle, a Land Cruiser with the registration number GKA 398Y.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the coppers were caught unawares and that there was no rapid response team to pursue the attackers after the raid.

Manila: Efforts being made to free Malaysian sailors from Abu Sayyaf
[THESTAR.MY] Efforts are being made to secure the release of five Malaysian sailors held hostage by Abu Sayyaf
...also known as al-Harakat al-Islamiyya, an Islamist terror group based in Jolo, Basilan and Zamboanga. Since its inception in the early 1990s, the group has carried out bombings, kidnappings, murders, head choppings, and extortion in their uniquely Islamic attempt to set up an independent Moslem province in the Philippines. Abu Sayyaf forces probably number less than 300 cadres. The group is closely allied with remnants of Indonesia's Jemaah Islamiya and has loose ties with MILF and MNLF who sometimes provide cannon fodder...
gunnies in the southern Philippine island of Jolo, Philippine ambassador J. Eduardo Malaya said.

Manila is committed to securing the safe and early recovery of all kidnap victims including the Malaysian tugboat crew members, Malaya said in a statement.

He said the Philippine authorities were also sharing intelligence with their Malaysian counterparts in the effort to rescue the hostages.

Following an order by President Rodrigo R. Duterte, Eduardo said that nine police and military battalions, comprising some 9,000 personnel, have been deployed to conduct operations in Abu Sayyaf hideouts in Jolo.

"This is in order to recover all kidnap victims and put a stop to kidnap-for-ransom and other atrocities of the group," he added.

The operations, Malaya said, had led to a significant number of boats being confiscated.

"The Philippine navy has also put up a blockade," he added.

Referring to a telephone call pleading for help from Malaysian hostage Mohd Ridzuan Ismail, arranged by an Abu Sayyaf front man, Eduardo said the gunnies were trying to pressure Philippine authorities to relent on the ongoing operations.

IS has been fighting Syrian forces in eastern Homs province for weeks, gaining ground in villages with hopes for an assault on the beleaguered central city of Homs.

In a video released on social media over the weekend, IS warned government forces that its fighters will advance on central Homs, showing fighters doing training exercises for the battle. The video featured what IS said are the bodies of Syrian soldiers who died in battles with IS.

Brother of pro-govt elder killed in Bajaur blast
KHAR: A brother of a pro-government tribal elder was killed in a roadside bomb blast in the Mamond tehsil of Bajaur Agency here on Sunday evening, local administration officials said.

They said that the incident took place in the Tarkhoo area, some 18km northwest of Khar, the headquarters of the tribal agency.

Officials quoted eyewitnesses as saying that Fazal Manan, the younger brother of Malik Taj Khan, a well-known pro-government tribal elder in the region, along with his driver was walking on the road, when an explosive device placed along the road went off.

According to the officials, the bomb was detonated by remote control.

Local people immediately rushed to the site of the blast and took the injured to the agency headquarters hospital, Khar, for treatment, however, he was shifted to a major hospital in Peshawar due to his critical condition.

A team of local administration officials and Levies personnel also reached the spot to trace the attackers, but no arrest was made till filing of this report.

KU bars gorillas from jungle-theme decoration due to 'masculine image'
[CAMPUSREFORM.ORG] An RA at the University of Kansas was advised against incorporating an image of a gorilla into a jungle-themed floor decoration because the animal apparently represents "a very masculine image."
See, the progressives really didn't like the gorilla who rescued that child after all...
Assistant Complex Director Dale Morrow also noted that there are "stereotypes that surround this animal," and therefore its inclusion in the display would not be "inclusive."
Man alive, I never thought the progressive move would turn on and protest a masculine guerrilla like Ché, I mean what a big switch in their ideology!
An acquaintance of the RA, who also wishes to remain anonymous, explained to Campus Reform that the gorilla was used as part of a jungle-themed decoration for a hallway, and was not put up as a solitary image.
They still do collage in college?
KU responded to Campus Reform's inquiry, saying Morrow, an assistant complex director, "does not speak for our housing department," and noting that it "seems reasonable that students would post photos of animals as part of a jungle-themed decoration."
Ah, but only the correct animals. While all animals are correct, some are more correct than others...

Yemeni Army takes positions between Taiz and Lahij
Aden – Yemen National Army and National Resistance Forces have established their positions in Kirsch fronts between Taiz and Lahij, with air support from Arab Coalition Forces.

Sources at the resistance said that the legitimacy forces were able to control new sites like Qaren al-Elab, Wahid al-Manakif, and al-Sakhabra Mountain following heavy clashes which led to the death and injury of several militants and the arrest of a sniper.

During the past few days, army forces killed a number of insurgents and destroyed many of their military vehicles, while four army soldiers were killed and 15 others injured.

Spokesperson for Kirsch Fronts, Nasr al-Rafdani said that battles are intensifying in areas close to al-Sharijah and mountains overlooking al-Qabitah.

Meanwhile in Abyan, “Security Belt” forces continued its operations in arresting terrorists after the liberation of the governorate in August.

Sources at the Security Belt said that the security raids led to the discovery of a weapons warehouse and explosives factory in Zenjibar. The forces also arrested security and intelligence officials loyal to former President Ali Abdallah Saleh.

National army and resistance forces raided several houses in Abyan on Saturday of several wanted members linked to Ansar al-Sharia, military wing of al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula.

A security official in Zinjibar said that the force stormed houses of several wanted and arrested three of them.

Earlier this month, security forces found a warehouse for explosives and arrested several terrorist cells.

Severed head found inside bag floating in McKinley Park lagoon
[FOX5NY] A severed head and other body parts were found inside a garbage bag floating in the McKinley Park lagoon Friday morning on the South Side.

The human remains were found about 10 a.m. at the park at 2210 W. Pershing, according to reliably Democrat Chicago, aka The Windy City or Mobtown

Police.

A Chicago Park District worker found the bag during a routine clean-up and discovered the man’s head and other body parts inside, a source said.

People who use the park are stunned.

"I take them to the park here regularly, fishing, to the playground. And to hear this it's so scary. It's like my front yard," said neighbor Lisa Flores.

FOX 32 talked to an eyewitness who actually saw the first discovery. He says the severed head is that of an African-American man in his 20s, and it appears it had not been in the water long because there was no decomposition.

Police quickly cordoned off a large part of the park and used cadaver dogs and divers to look for the rest of the body.

Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson says they were able to locate more body parts.

"This is still an ongoing investigation. The head has been identified as an adult, probably African-American. And there are some more body parts that have been sent to the Medical Examiner's office," Johnson said.

Walmart apologizes for refusing to make police officer’s cake
An apology is nice. How were the miscreants punished?
Tut tut, my periwinkle mod, it wasn't as if it was a gay wedding cake...
[MACON] Walmart is apologizing for refusing to make a police officer’s retirement cake last week after an employee told the cop’s daughter that her "thin blue line" cake design might be considered racist.

The police officer’s daughter, who has remained anonymous, told radio host Todd Starnes that she went to a Walmart in McDonough, Georgia on Thursday to ask for a cake with the American flag in black and white with a blue stripe added in.

But one of the employees at the bakery balked at the common police officer emblem, telling the woman "the design could be perceived as racist and nobody feels comfortable decorating the cake," she recounted to Starnes. When she asked for a simpler cake, with just one blue line on a chocolate background, the employee said she didn’t "feel comfortable" with that design either.

"I asked her, ’Is there something wrong with cops?’" the woman recalled, according to Starnes.

The employee again refused to make the cake.

Taylor Wilkes, a Georgia police officer and family friend, originally posted about the cake incident on Facebook early Friday morning, criticizing the store for their "appalling" behavior.

"There is nothing racist about the symbolism behind the "thin blue line," yet people CHOOSE to make EVERYTHING about race," Wilkes wrote. "I'm so tired of it."
I condemn looting, I really do, but don't ask me to work up much sympathy the next time a Walmart gets trashed by the BLM thugs.

The Grand Turk
At Least 10 Turkish Soldiers Killed in PKK Attacks
[AnNahar] Ten members of the Turkish security forces were killed in two separate attacks in southeastern The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
on Monday blamed on the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), local media reported.

Two soldiers and two village guards -- locals employed to combat Kurdish Lions of Islam -- were killed and six others maimed in a roadside kaboom in Mardin province, the state-run Anadolu news agency reported.

The bomb, planted by the PKK, went kaboom! when a vehicle carrying the forces passed by, it said. The authorities have launched an operation to hunt down the "terrorists" who fled, it added.

In a separate incident, six Turkish soldiers were killed in festivities with the PKK on a highway by the town of Uludere near the Iraqi border, the private Dogan news agency reported.

Another soldier was maimed in festivities that erupted at a checkpoint near a prison on the highway, according to Dogan.

The PKK, designated as a terror group by Turkey and its Western allies, has waged a bloody campaign against the Turkish state since it took up arms in 1984 for self-rule in the Kurdish majority southeast.

The Turkish army meanwhile said eight PKK members were "neutralized" on Sunday in ground and air operations in Hakkari province near the Iraqi border, Anadolu reported.

It said 320 PKK Lions of Islam have been killed in Hakkari since the operations began several weeks ago but the figures could not be independently verified.

The PKK in March 2013 declared a unilateral ceasefire but this collapsed in 2015 and violence has raged ever since in a deadly conflict that so far shows no sign of ending.

Syrian regime, Russian jets kill 85 civilians in Aleppo
[AA.TR] At least 85 people were killed and 178 others injured Sunday in Syrian regime and Russia Arclight airstrikes on residential areas in Aleppo, a civil defense official told Anadolu Agency.

Najib Ansari said regime’s helicopters and warplanes, along with Russian jets, pounded al-Kallasa, Bustan al-Basha, Ard al Hamra, Tariq al-Bab, Mesir, Zinbdie, Salihiya and Ansar neighborhoods in Aleppo, all of which are currently under siege by the regime of Syrian Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Horror of Homs...
Numerious children and women were among those killed. The attacks were in residential areas controlled by opposition forces with "15 phosphorous and 18 vacuum bombs," Ansari said.

"A total of 244 civilians have bit the dust and 651 others were maimed on Russian and regime forces attacks against Aleppo within the last three days," Ansari said, adding that tens of residential areas were damaged with several houses destroyed. "The infrastructure of the city has collapsed," he said.

On Saturday, 92 non-combatants were killed and 273 injured by the regime and Russian Arclight airstrikes in the northwestern city.

Sunday’s attacks come after the international community strongly condemned recent attacks on civilians in Aleppo.

Since the Assad regime announced the end of a cease-fire Sept. 19, a total of 444 people have been killed and 1,585 others injured.

Late Saturday, the EU decried the recent attacks as "unacceptable breach of international humanitarian law," while on Sunday, The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
condemned Arclight airstrikes by the Syrian regime and "its supporters" on residential areas saying: "Through these attacks, the Syrian regime mercilessly kills its own people, and targets in particular humanitarian facilities such as hospitals, pumping stations, and emergency response centers."

Also, Saturday, the foreign ministers of La Belle France, Italia, Germany, the United Kingdom, the United States, and the High Representative of the European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
issued a joint statement that put the onus on Russia to revive the cease-fire.

"The devastating events in Syria this week underscore what we have been saying for some time: the burden is on Russia to prove it is willing and able to take extraordinary steps to salvage diplomatic efforts to restore a cessation of hostilities (CoH), allow unfettered humanitarian assistance and create the conditions necessary for the resumption of UN-led talks about a political transition," a joint statement said.

"The outrageous bombing of a humanitarian convoy, the Syrian regime's public denunciation of the CoH, continuing reports that the regime is using chemical weapons, and the unacceptable ongoing regime offensive on eastern Aleppo, supported by Russia, blatantly contradicts Russia’s claim that it supports a diplomatic resolution," it said.

Woman stopped at Austrian airport with bag containing her husband’s entrails
Customs officials at an Austrian airport have stopped a female traveller carrying two containers of entrails into the country, believed to belong to her late husband.
And who would know a husband's entrails better than his wife, I ask you?
The packages belonged to a Moroccan national who suspected her husband had been poisoned. He died during an operation in Morocco, according to the Kleine Zeitung newspaper.
"My God, Doctor, the patient is dead!"
"Yes, Nurse, disemboweling tends to do that."
The woman was travelling through Graz airport in the south of Austria but was reportedly stopped by officials after they observed her behaving suspiciously.
"So vat vas she doingk, Hans?"
"She vas stroking her husband's entrails most lovingly, Frans!"
When speaking with the officials, the woman said she wanted to have tests carried out on the remains in order to investigate her suspicions around her husband’s death. However, a doctor summoned to the scene said a proper investigation could not be carried out without the full cadaver.
You need the full cadaver to figure out a disembowelment?
Austria’s finance ministry, which is responsible for all customs issues, confirmed the unusual find.
"Yah! Ve have not seen such a t'ing in, oh, about seventy years or so!"
However, police said they were not investigating as no laws had been broken.
"Did the disembowelment occur on Austrian soil?"
"No, mein Attorney Genralness! It vas done in Morocco-land!"
"Ack so, there is no crime here. Though she should not attempt to wear the entrails as garters, as that is strictly forbidden!"
The entrails have now been stored and are awaiting further examination by scientists.
"Mein Gott, doctor! Could we not just send these to the Mayo Clinic?"

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Aid delivered to four besieged towns in Syria
Seventy trucks of humanitarian aid were delivered on Sunday to four besieged towns in Syria for the first time in almost six months, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) said.

The aid organization said convoys were delivered to Madaya and Zabdani near Damascus and to the villages of al Foua and Kefraya in Idlib province in the north west.

Madaya, near the border with Lebanon, has a population of around 40,000 and has been besieged by Syrian government-allied forces for around six months. Zabadani has 1,000 people left.

Kefraya and al-Foua, in Idlib province in northwest Syria, have around 20,000 people, according to UN estimates, and have been surrounded by insurgents since April 2015. Last Thursday U.N. relief operations in Syria resumed after a 48-hour suspension due to a deadly attack.

The world body suspended land deliveries after a 31-truck convoy was attacked last Monday at Urem al-Kubra in western Aleppo. The Syrian Arab Red Crescent says a staff member and around 20 civilians were killed and a warehouse destroyed.

Bangla Bhai’s deputy Khamaru arrested again
[Dhaka Tribune] Executed JMB leader Bangla Bhai's second-in-command Mahtab Khamaru, who was blessed by top BNP leader Tarique Rahman
...the elder son of former President of Bangladesh Ziaur Rahman Bir Uttam, and Khaleda Zia, former Prime Minister of Bangladesh. He is the Senior Vice Chairperson of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP). His nickname is Pino. There are allegations that Pino took a rakeoff from every foreign investment into the country while Mom was in office...
a decade ago, have been placed in durance vile
Yez got nuttin' on me, coppers! Nuttin'!
again, for the fourth time since 2005

Khamaru was arrested from Hamirkutsa area of Baghmara Upazila around 11:30am Monday allegedly for regrouping the organization. He hails from Talghoria village of Hamirkutsa Union.

He was shown arrested in a case filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act and produced before a district court, Baghmara OC Selim Hossain told the Dhaka Tribune’s Abdullah Al Dulal. "The court has sent him to jail. We will seek his remand later."

Khamaru is accused in several cases filed with Baghmara police for murder, torture, abduction and extortion in the area in 2004.

From March 31 to May 24 that year, Shayakh Abdur Rahman’s JMB and its associate organization Jagrata Moslem Janata Bangladesh (JMJB) ‐ under the leadership of Siddiqul Islam alias Bangla Bhai ‐ carried out series of attacks on members of the Awami League and outlawed leftist groups with the blessings of the then BNP-Jamaat government. At least 24 people were killed and several hundreds injured in the attacks conducted in broad daylight.

Acting as a regional commander of the JMB, Khamaru even took part in an armed procession of the outfit in Rajshahi town in 2004.

"Police are investigating one of those cases while the others are under trial," the OC said.

After the two outfits were banned on February 23, 2005, RAB arrested Khamaru on November 27. But he was released soon after then prime minister the loathesome Khaleda Zia
Three-term PM of Bangla, widow of deceased dictator Ziaur Rahman, head of the Bangla Nationalist Party, an apparent magnet for corruption ...
’s son Tarique phoned state minister for home Lutfozzaman Babar for his release, according to a US embassy cable released by whistleblowing website WikiLeaks.

Tarique was acting at the behest of then state minister for land Ruhul Kuddus Talukder Dulu, the cable says. Several other ministers and local politicians supported Bangla Bhai at that time.

JMB leader Khamaru was later arrested twice ‐ on March 9, 2007 and July 23, 2012, but managed to come out of jail on bail. In 2012, he was shown arrested in a case filed for abduction and torture of one Amir Ali of Baghmara in 2004. He went into hiding after getting bail.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Subway Riders ‘Shocked’ By Attack At 59th Street-Columbus Circle Station
[NEWYORK.CBSLOCAL] Two men were on the run Monday, and some subway riders were on edge, after video showed the suspects kicking and beating a man with brass knuckles at the 59th Street-Columbus Circle subway station.
This is a New York subway. I'm not sure anything would surprise a regular...
As CBS2’s Ali Bauman reported, the attack happened around 5 a.m. Sunday. Police said two men came up to a 25-year-old man and knocked him to the floor on the A train platform.

The suspects kicked the man while he was on the floor and one of them was wearing brass knuckles during the attack, police said. The suspects took $350 in cash and other items from the man and fled on a southbound A train, police said.

"I think that you have to watch what you’re doing at any point, but it’s always really sad to hear something like that," said commuter Stephanie Ricoy.

"I only work through Monday to Friday. I do the papers there. I do the metro paper. And so far, I’ve been seeing a lot of crazy people over here sometimes, but they haven’t messed with me so far," another man said.

Columbus Circle is one of the top 10 busiest stations in the city and houses the NYPD’s District 1 Transit Bureau. Commuters said police patrols are a regular sight.

"There’s been a lot more coppers here lately and there’s always somebody on duty that I’ve seen, and I come here regularly in the mornings and right after work," one woman said.

"You know that there’s security, there’s police around all the time," added Mike Bonser. "It’s just shocking to hear this kind of news."

But some New Yorkers said you can’t be too safe. Danielle Phillip heard about the attack on Monday morning, and decided she and her husband should escort their daughter to school through the 59th Street-Columbus Circle station ‐ all the way from Brooklyn.

"Outrageous, it’s crazy. My husband came with us this morning," Phillip said.

Other subway riders were likewise unsettled.

"Things are getting crazy," another subway rider named Kenny told 1010 WINS’ John Montone. "People don’t have any respect for anybody else and it’s really the worst part about it all."

"I’m on my guard," another man said. "I’m always on my guard."

The victim was released from the hospital after being treated for cuts and bruises to his face.

Police released surveillance photos and video of the suspects. One of the suspects was described as a Hispanic male in his 30s standing 5 feet 8 to 5 feet 10 inches tall. He was last seen wearing gray hooded sweater and light-colored pants. The other suspect was described as a black male in his 30s, also standing 5 feet 8 to 5 feet 10 inches tall. He was last seen wearing a gray t-shirt, a black long sleeved undershirt and black pants.

Azerbaijan votes to amend Constitution
But I think we all saw this coming...
[AA.TR] More than 86 percent of Azerbaijanis voted to amend the country's Constitution, the Central Election Committee said late Monday.

The amendments will create new leadership positions including a "First Vice Presidency" and a number of deputy presidents, extending the president’s term from five to seven years. The new First Vice President position will also carry immunity from prosecution.

Unofficial results show 70 percent of voters ‐ more than 3.6 million people cast ballots in the referendum. More than 5 million voters were registered to take part and 38 polling stations were set up for Azerbaijanis living abroad.

The referendum was watched by 117 international observers and 53,300 local observers were also on duty.

Khalifa Haftar is preparing murder list, UAE website claims
[Libya Observer] Renegade General Khalifa Haftar
... served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969. He became a prisoner of war in Chad in 1987. While held prisoner, he and his fellow officers formed a group hoping to overthrow Qadaffy. He was released around 1990 in a deal with the United States government and spent nearly two decades in the United States, gaining US citizenship. In 1993, while living in the United States, he was convicted in absentia of crimes against the Jamahiriya and sentenced to death. Haftar held a senior position in the anti-Qadaffy forces in the 2011 Libyan Civil War. In 2014 he was commander of the Libyan Army when the General National Congress (GNC) refused to give up power in accordance with its term of office. Haftar launched a campaign against the GNC and its Islamic fundamentalist allies. His campaign allowed elections to take place to replace the GNC, but then developed into a civil war. Guess you can't win them all...
is preparing an liquidation list of military officers and political figures in east and west Libya who could pose a threat to him, Emirati Affairs news website reported on Sunday.

The UAE's well-known opposition news website cited sources as saying that instructions were given to Khalifa Haftar from the Egyptian Intelligence Agency and Mohammed Dahlan, an exiled Paleostinian politician and top advisor to the UAE rulers, to assassinate senior Dignity Operation military officers and federalists to pave the way for his absolute rule and ensure that no one competes with him.

The website said preparations for the list started in April 2016 in coordination between Egyptian Intelligence, Mohammed Dahlan and Khalifa Haftar's adviser Noman Ben Ottoman, a former Qadaffy intelligence agent.

"If the liquidation plot was failed, the targets would be defamed in the media," the website claimed.

The list included defense minister-designate Mihdi Baraghati, Ibrahim Jodran, federalist HoR member Abu Baker Baira, federalist HoR member Esam Jahani, federalist HoR member Ziyad Daghaim, and senior Dignity Operation officer Wanis Bu Khamadah, in addition to 23 others.

Iraq
Islamic State preparing for long showdown over Mosul
[UPI] As the showdown approaches with the Iraqi Army, backed by the Shia-dominated militias and Kurdish Peshmerga with aerial support by the U.S.-led coalition forces, Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
murderous Moslems are preparing for a protracted war over djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
Residents said trenches were dug around the city and neighborhoods on the corners were cleared of residents. All areas on the city border were said to have been booby-trapped.

The residents said those who were removed were taken to compounds inside Mosul run by IS and are likely to be used as human shields if the jihadists begin to lose the battle.

"The bottom line is that ISIS is extremely anxious of the coming confrontation, thus, has been making plans. We can see it digging the trenches," said Ahmed, a Mosul resident who declined to be identified for fear of reprisal.

He said IS is "clearly nervous, as we can see from its fighters in the streets. If you look at one of them, you're in trouble. He would walk up to you and start a fight, thinking that you reported him to Iraqi security or that you're pursuing him."

Another resident, also speaking on condition of anonymity
... for fear of being murdered...
, said the number of IS's foreign jihadists in Mosul has diminished over the past few weeks.

"The reason is one of two: Either because EU countries have forbidden their citizens from traveling to Iraq and Syria and are keeping a closer watch on people leaving," he said, "Or, it could be because some of the foreigners involved with ISIS, specifically Arabs, are actually drug pushers, who came to Mosul to make financial gains or convicted criminals who found a safe haven in the city."

As for non-Arab foreigners in Mosul, which IS captured in lightning attack in 2014: "We hear that many of them have already escaped to Raqqa in Syria with their families."

"We don't see any foreigners in Mosul anymore," said the resident, who explained that non-Arabs stood out in the crowd because many were blond, green-eyed with light-colored skin. "Their accent in Arabic was heavy and we were able to distinguish they weren't locals."

Another Mosul resident, who declined to be identified, said IS foreigners have "found a safe haven in Tal Afar and two other villages just outside Mosul." He said he overheard his cousin, an IS fighter, talking about the plans over the phone.

The Mosul residents spoke in separate interviews, some in text chats or brief calls on social media networks. They all reported a shortage of food, medicine and medical supplies but insisted that it was manageable and that no cases of famine have been reported.

Mohammed Shafiq, a journalist working for an Iraqi TV channel, said the Shia-dominated Popular Mobilisation Forces will be involved in Mosul's liberation.

He said his information came from top government officials, despite opposition by Mosul residents of a force accused of atrocities against Iraqi Sunnis in other areas seized back from IS.

The PMF "taking part in the battle over Mosul means that ISIS is assured of a significant loss because al-Hashed al-Shaabi [PMF] will help eliminate the number of myrmidon fighters very quickly as the army advances," he noted.

Political analyst Fayiz al-Kanaan said ISis part of Iraq's political mess, which saw successive Shia-dominated Cabinets shun the Sunnis, who were ostracized after the collapse of Saddam Hussein's regime.

"The real battle against ISIS is the wider political battle in Iraq," he said, using an Arabic acronym for IS. "What helped ISIS win and stay in Mosul is a group within the community that allowed it to do that."

He said the support allowed IS to "build bases and tunnels underground, not to mention the gruesome operations that the group carried out, like the execution of prisoners of war, killing and instilling fear in the hearts of families as well as the destruction of Iraqi antiquities."

The Grand Turk
Turkish wimmin protest woman abused on bus for wearing shorts
Uh, fellas? No one cares about your hairy legs...
Enjoy it while you can, ladies. The iron curtain is falling -- forever if your neo-Ottoman sultan gets his way.
ISTANBUL: Turks donned shorts and gathered in central Istanbul on Sunday to condemn the assault of a young nurse who was attacked on a bus for wearing shorts.

With chants of “Don’t interfere with my shorts!” the protest aimed to show solidarity with Aysegul Terzi, who was kicked in the face by a man, Abdullah Cakiroglu, on Sept. 12.

Cakiroglu confessed to attacking Terzi for what he called her “inappropriate” clothing, yet was released from custody despite expressing no remorse, according to Turkish news reports. Following a public uproar over the attack, he was then re-arrested on charges of inciting hatred and interfering with the right to freedom.

On social media, critics accused the Turkish authorities of expressing tacit approval of Cakiroglu’s actions.

Accountant Saadet Yesil, 44, told The Associated Press at Sunday’s protest that everyone had a right to dress as they saw fit.

“Just as we don’t interfere with those in headscarves or gentlemen in turbans, we expect they extend us the same courtesy,” she said.
That's nice, dear.
She also accused Turkey’s prime minister of attempting to downplay the attack. Prime Minister Binali Yildirim spoke of the assault with the Turkish daily Hurriyet last week, saying “I don’t think he is a normal man because what he did isn’t something a normal person would do. You might not like (someone’s dress but) you just grumble about it.”

Akin Ozcan Aksoy, a 21-year-old student at Sunday’s protest, told the AP he hoped such attacks would not take place “but the direction our country is headed makes me think we will encounter more of these stories.”
We do, too. May we suggest you aim to misbehave.
Another shorts protest was scheduled to take place in Ankara, the capital.

Daniel Greenfield: Lester Holt lost the debate
[FrontPageMagazine] There were concerns that Lester Holt would be this debate's Candy Crowley. He was a good deal worse.

Every question was shaped to frame a left-wing agenda. Holt hurled numerous attacks at Trump. He only passingly offered Hillary a chance to address her emails when Trump had already brought it up.

The debate was structurally biased and Holt biased it. He repeatedly argued with Trump about the facts. Despite the ban on fact-checking, Holt attempted to debate Trump on the Iraq War and on the birth certificate. It was a disgraceful and a biased performance. It is a reminder that the structure of the debates must be changed to prevent mainstream media from dominating it.

Relations with EU, Operation Euphrates Shield in Syria, fight against FETÖ tops Cabinet meeting
[DAILYSABAH] e Turkish government's Cabinet convened on Monday at Cankaya Palace in Ankara under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Binali Yildirim. Deputy Prime Minister Numan Kurtulmus informed the media members present that Turkish ‐ European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
(EU) relations were discussed as he underlined that the relationship between the two goes far beyond the refugee deal. In addition Kurtulmus also spoke on the recent developments in Operation Euphrates Shield, underlining that the aim is to clear ISIS from The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
's borders.

Though Turkish ‐ EU relations were tense following the failed July 15 coup attempt due to the controversial stance of some EU officials, Deputy PM Kurtulmus stated that the EU had comprehended the rising democracy and spirit of unity and togetherness in Turkey. Speaking to media persons during the Cabinet meeting, Kurtulmus said, "Turkey ‐ EU relations is not a matter to be approached under the framework of the refugee crisis, as it would be faulty to degrade relations due to the refugee matter." As the Turkish deputy prime minister further addressed issues of ongoing investigations on the Gulenist Terror Group (FETÖ) and claims of the possibility of a new coup attempt, Kurtulmus also noted that Justice Minister Bekir Bozdag had done a presentation to the Cabinet's members where he had also suggested an amendment to the criminal procedures act.

Commenting on Turkey ‐ EU relations Kurtulmus further stressed that additional chapters must be opened by the EU in Turkey's membership process. "Turkey is in favor of opening new chapters with the EU as Turkey does not have any hesitations for these chapters to be opened, especially the chapters 23 and 24," he added. As Chapter 23 is on judicial and fundamental rights and Chapter 24 on justice, security and freedoms, Kurtulmus said Turkey has no hesitations regarding these matters and that there is no need to take a step back on these topics.

Continuing on by addressing the ongoing Euphrates Shield military operation, which is being conducted by the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) jointly with the Free Syrian Army
... the more palatable version of the Syrian insurgency, heavily influenced by the Moslem Brüderbund...
(FSA), Kurtulmus reminded the media of the three red lines for Turkey in carrying out the operation. "The first is Turkey's necessity to protect its borders from terror organizations in Syria. The second is Turkey supporting the territorial integrity of Syria, thus willing to do all means of interfering to preserve it [the territorial integrity]," Kurtulmus added, and stated the third as preventing any PYD corridor in northern Syria, which would also affect the territorial integrity of Syria.

As the withdrawal of the terrorist PKK-affiliate, the PYD, to the West of the Euphrates River continues gradually, the Turkish deputy prime minister stressed that the matter has always been the withdrawal of the PYD's forces. "In this respect, Turkey has persistently reiterated for the withdrawal of PYD to the West of the Euphrates River. We will continue our determination in the region until all means of terror is eliminated completely," he added. In regards to the discussions on a possible operation in Raqqa and djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
, Kurtulmus reminded those gathered that Turkey is in favor of local forces conducting such an operation, as he further underlined that the operations must be conducted under the surveillance of the international coalition.

Election commissioner: Fire us all
[WASHINGTONEXAMINER] A Democratic member of the Federal Election Commission said Monday that the best way to find consensus at the agency might be to get rid of all the commissioners, including herself.

"We have a commission that people expect to be upholding the integrity of our electoral processes, and we are not doing that at all," Democratic Commissioner Ann Ravel told an audience at the National Press Club on Monday. "It is not happening in this election, and there's no likelihood that it will."

Ravel, who last year held the FEC's rotating chairmanship and who previously led California's state-level version of the agency, argued that federal commissioners stalemate on too many votes. By law, the agency is divided evenly between three Democrats and three Republicans, which makes it hard to agree on anything.

Yemeni forces kill suspected Qaeda chief
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Yemeni forces killed a suspected local al-Qaeda chief Monday in a clash at his house in the southern province of Abyan
...a governorate of Yemen. The region was a base to the Aden-Abyan Islamic Army terrorist group until it dropped the name and joined al-Qaeda. Its capital is Zinjibar. In March 2011, al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula declared the governate an Islamic Emirate after seizing control of the region. The New York Times fastidiously reported that those in control, while Islamic hard boyz, are not in fact al-Qaeda, but something else that looks, tastes, smells, and acts the same. Yemeni government forces launched an effort to re-establish control of the region when President-for-Life Saleh was tossed and the carnage continues...
, security officials said.

A Yemeni soldier also died and another was maimed after troops stormed the residence of an alleged murderous Moslem identified as Abdullah Hubaibat, on the outskirts of the town of Loder, the officials said.

Two other snuffies suspects were maimed in the fight, while a third was tossed in the calaboose
Youse'll never take me alive coppers!... [BANG!]... Ow!... I quit!
, the sources told AFP.

Government forces backed by a Saudi-led coalition entered Abyan’s capital Zinjibar last month and recaptured other towns across the province.

in Tehran in June for "security offences" has been released and has left the country, the foreign ministry said on Monday.

The official IRNA news agency quoted a ministry front man as saying that the 65-year-old with dual nationality, who had also been accused of "feminist activities", was freed "for humanitarian reasons".

Hoodfar travelled to Oman and on to Canada, he said.

Iranian state television
... and if you can't believe state television who can you believe?
has said Hoodfar was a founding member of a London-based advocacy group, Women Living Under Moslem Law (WLUML).

Canada's Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said in a statement that Canadians were relieved that Hoodfar had been released and would "soon be reunited with her family, friends and colleagues".

"The government of Canada has been actively and constructively engaged at the highest levels... since her ordeal began," he said.

"In the absence of diplomatic representation of its own in Iran, Canada worked closely with others who were instrumental in helping secure Dr Hoodfar's release -- most notably Oman, Italia and Switzerland

"I would also like to recognize the cooperation of those Iranian authorities who facilitated her release and repatriation," Trudeau said.

"They understand that cases like these impede more productive relations."
The Times of Israel reminds us:
Other known to be held include:

— Siamak Namazi , an Iranian-American businessman who has advocated for closer ties between the two countries and whose father is also held in Tehran;

-- Baquer Namazi, a former Iranian and UN official in his 80s who is the father of Siamak;

-- Robin Shahini, an Iranian-American detained while visiting family who previously had made online comments criticizing Iran’s human rights

-- Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe, a British-Iranian woman sentenced to five years in prison on allegations of planning the "soft toppling" of Iran’s government while traveling with her young daughter; and

-- Nizar Zakka, a US permanent resident from Leb recently sentenced to 10 years in prison and a $4.2 million fine.

Still missing is former FBI agent Robert Levinson, who vanished in Iran in 2007 while on an unauthorized CIA mission.

Nine injured in IED blast targeting police van in Charsadda
PESHAWAR: At least nine people including four policemen were injured in an improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast targeting a police van in Charsadda on Monday, police said.

The banned Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility for the attack in an email sent to journalists.

The police van was on a routine patrol in Sro area of Charsadda's Shabqadar tehsil when the bomb went off along the roadside, injuring four police officials and five passers-by.

Police and rescue officials arrived at the scene and shifted the injured to tehsil headquarters hospital.

According to hospital administration, three of the injured who were in critical condition were shifted to Peshawar.

Shabqadar tehsil is close to Mohmand tribal region, which is one of seven semi-autonomous tribal regions in the northwest, where Pakistani Taliban and Al Qaeda-linked militants were said to have carved out strongholds.

At least 16 people were killed in March this year when a suicide bomber blew himself up in the premises of a local court in Shabqadar.

The number of attacks in the country has fallen around 70 per cent, due to a combination of the military offensive against Taliban bases along the Afghan border and government initiatives to tackle militancy, but attacks on security and civilian targets continue to occur occasionally.

Sister of Killed Jihadist Arrested in Belgium
[AnNahar] The sister of a jihadist killed in a terror raid in Belgium last year has been tossed in the calaboose
... anything you say can and will be used against you, whether you say it or not...
and charged with terrorist activity, a prosecutor said on Monday.

Chaimaa Amghar, 20, was arrested in the Brussels district of Molenbeek on September 21 after police traced social media messages indicating she was attempting to "commit acts of terror-linked crimes in a conflict zone," the source said.

The suspect is the sister of Sofiane Amghar, one of two suspected Islamic State

members killed in a raid in the eastern city of Verviers in January 2015.

Prosecutors later said the group was was under the orders of Abdelhamid Abaaoud, the ringleader of the terror cell that attacked Gay Paree on November 13, 2015.

The two men killed in the Verviers raid, Sofiane Amghar and Khalid Ben Larbi, went to Syria to join IS in April 2014.

They then slipped back into Belgium to the Verviers hideout.

Authorities have said the November Gay Paree and March Brussels attacks were the work of the same cross-border jihadist group with deep roots in the Belgian capital.

Spain detains 2 with ISIS links
[ARA News] MADRID – The Spanish authorities have detained two Moroccan men accused of supporting the extremist group of Islamic State (ISIS), officials said on Monday.

Spain’s Interior Ministry said in a statement that the arrested suspects have been involved in planning a terror attack on European soil.

One of the detainees had planned to join ISIS in Syria.

“He travelled to the Syrian border through Turkey to meet a member of the terrorist organisation,” the ministry said.

The suspect has been trying to join ISIS training camps in Syria, before returning to Europe to participate in a terror attack.

“He was arrested by Turkish police before crossing the border and was returned to Spain once released where he continued efforts to join the militant group,” the Spanish Interior Ministry said.

The other other suspect was accused of helping the first in his attempts to travel to the ISIS-territory in Syria, and training him after he returned to Spain.

Arabia
Soddys sez it's not the time for a truce
"We still have plenty of ammo to burn through yet"
The Saudi-led coalition waging a war on Yemen said on Monday it would prefer a broad political settlement to a ceasefire.
Hudnas are only good for a maximum of one day less than ten years, but must be broken as soon as Allah's favourites are ready to return to the battlefield. Can't blame the Saudis for preferring the other side didn't realize that's what is really going on.
“I think now it’s not a question of talking about a ceasefire,” coalition spokesman Brigadier General Ahmed Assiri told AFP.

Late on Sunday, the head of the new Yemeni council, Saleh al-Sammad, proposed on Sunday a truce on the country’s border with Saudi Arabia.

Assiri said the coalition welcomes “any effort to have a genuine political settlement” under a peace initiative proposed last month by US Secretary of State John Kerry. This is preferable to a “short ceasefire without any control, without any observation”, he said.

Previous truces in the 18-month war collapsed after continuous and deadly strikes by the Saudi-led coalition, which prompted the Yemeni army and the popular committees of Ansarullah revolutionaries to respond by firing rockets on Saudi border areas.

“If they want to have a ceasefire they know what they have to do,” Assiri said, referring to terms of the Kerry plan which were to be refined under United Nations mediation among the parties.

Final Yemen solution preferred over ‘short truce’
Arabs always want a "Final Solution"
[Al Arabiya] The Saudi-led coalition fighting in support of Yemen’s government would prefer a broad political settlement to a ceasefire, its spokesman said on Monday.

“I think now it’s not a question of talking about a ceasefire,” Brigadier General Ahmed Assiri told AFP.

Late on Sunday a Houthi militia leader, Saleh al-Sammad, proposed a truce on the country’s border with Saudi Arabia in exchange for a halt in Saudi-led air strikes on his forces.

Assiri said the coalition welcomes “any effort to have a genuine political settlement” under a peace initiative proposed last month by US Secretary of State John Kerry.

This is preferable to a “short ceasefire without any control, without any observation”, he said.

Previous truces in the 18-month war collapsed.

Saleh turnaround
In a turn of events, Saleh also urged for direct talks with Saudi Arabia, denying in the process that his forces, along with Houthi militias, have “any coalition or connections with Iran.”

Saleh also invited Yemeni President Abdrabbu Mansour Hadi to enter the capital Sanaa and that he will receive himself.

In late 2014 they seized Yemen’s capital Sanaa before moving into other parts of the country.

Saudi Arabia in March 2015 formed an Arab coalition to begin air strikes and ground support for forces loyal to Hadi, who fled to Riyadh.

The latest round of UN-led talks between the government and the Huthis ended acrimoniously on August 6 without a breakthrough and a ceasefire that had been in place since April collapsed.

Hadi, in a fierce address to the UN in New York on Friday, accused of Iran of blocking peace moves through its support for the rebels.

“We shall extract Yemen from the claws of Iran. We shall raise the Yemeni flag over every foot of our precious soil,” Hadi told the General Assembly.

Islamic State 'dead set' on using chemical arms: Pentagon spokesman
[REUTERS] Islamic State

gunnies are "dead set" on using chemical arms and are likely to try them again as Iraqi forces advance on djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
, a Pentagon front man said on Monday, a week after a rocket with a possible chemical agent landed near U.S. troops.

The rocket fired Tuesday landed in an unpopulated area near Qayyara West base, several hundred yards from where hundreds of U.S. troops are working to prepare an airfield for an Iraqi offensive to recapture the city of Mosul. No one was hurt in the attack.

The shell initially tested positive for a mustard agent, but two subsequent tests have been inconclusive and the device is undergoing further tests, Navy Captain Jeff Davis, a Pentagon front man, told news hounds.

"We fully recognize this is something that ISIS has done before. They've done it many times, at least a couple dozen that we know of where they have launched crude makeshift munitions that are filled with this mustard agent," Davis said using an acronym for the group.

An air strike by the U.S.-led military coalition destroyed an Islamic State chemical weapons factory on Friday near Qayyara, the second attack against a chemical arms facility this month.

Davis said Islamic State's ability to weaponize mustard agent has been rudimentary. The group typically uses a chemical powder bound together with oil, which leaves behind a telltale oil trace.

"It's not generally in a lethal concentration. It's more of an irritant than anything else, but again, not something we view as militarily significant," he said, noting that the gas form of mustard agent used in the First World War was far more lethal.

Even though Islamic State has not perfected the ability to weaponize chemicals, U.S. and Iraqi forces still have to be prepared for a chemical attack, Davis said.

"We recognize this is real. They're dead set on it. They would love to be able to use chemical weapons against us, against the Iraqis as they move forward," Davis said. "We are making every effort to make sure that we're ready for it."

Scott was shot dead last week by a black police officer after threatening police with a loaded gun. Race activists rioted, looted and beat white people after his shooting last week.

Police released photos of Scott’s loaded gun on Saturday. The gun was loaded and cocked, the safety was off ‐ meaning it was ready to be fired.

#1  It probably won't make any difference what is released. The climate which has been created in this country from the top has poisoned relationships in communities for the police. Obean has released his minions, BLM, with Soros bankrolling these minions and the media. Some 70-80% come from out of state.

California man convicted as would-be Islamic State recruit gets 30 years

They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
recruit from Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, was sentenced on Monday to 30 years in prison for his conviction on charges he sought to join the myrmidon group in Syria and committed bank fraud to pay for a plane ticket there, federal prosecutors said.

Nader Elhuzayel, 25, was found guilty in June by a U.S. District Court jury in Santa Ana, California, of conspiring and attempting to provide material support, namely himself, to a terrorist organization, and 26 counts of bank fraud.

He became the first person tried, convicted and sentenced for such charges in federal court, the U.S. Attorney's Office in Los Angeles said. More than 70 individuals have been charged in the United States with trying to travel abroad to enlist with Islamic State, with most cases resulting in guilty pleas.

A native-born U.S. citizen, Elhuzayel worked various odd jobs after graduating from high school, took a course in medical billing and attended community college for several semesters, according to a pre-sentencing memorandum.

Elhuzayel was tossed in the calaboose
Drop the rod and step away witcher hands up!
on May 21, 2015, when he tried to board a Turkish Airlines plane at Los Angeles International Airport for a flight to The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
, from where he had planned to make his way to the Syrian border, federal prosecutors said.

Found in his carry-on bag was a computer storage drive containing graphic photos of Islamic State beheadings and a "hit list" of U.S. Defense Department employee names and addresses compiled by the murderous Moslem group, according to evidence presented at trial.

Weeks earlier, prosecutors said, Elhuzayel had posted Twitter messages professing support for a 2015 incident in Texas in which two gunnies attacked an exhibit of caricatures of the Prophet Mohammad and were shot to death by police.

Elhuzayel also appeared in a video swearing allegiance to Islamic State leader His Supreme Immensity, Caliph of the Faithful and Galactic Overlord, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi
...formerly merely the head of ISIL and a veteran of the Bagram jailhouse. Looks like a new messiah to bajillions of Moslems, like just another dead-eyed mass murder to the rest of us...
and pledging to enlist as a fighter in the myrmidon group, which has seized swaths of territory in Iraq and Syria and grabbed credit for numerous attacks on civilians in Europe.

Prosecutors said Elhuzayel and a co-defendant, Muhanad Badawi, repeatedly used social media to express their support for Islamic State, including its execution of gay men. One Twitter message posted by Elhuzayel declared: "The only thing more beautiful than rain is homosexuals being thrown off tall buildings."
