Watch Obama Whine About White People
Yeah, it's indirect from Infowars - you've been warned...

"I’m deeply saddened by a sense that whites are still superior in this country, in some sense, that if you sit at a restaurant, they’re served before a Kenyan is served. If you go through customs, a white person is going to have an easier time going through customs," Obama says in the film.

#1  “How much of a black nationalist do you think Obama is? What do you think he thinks of white people?”

On a scale of one to ten, ten being 'extreme black nationalist' I'd rate him an eleven. My answer to the first question makes the second question somewhat irrelevant.

Poll: Most Americans Believe 'Climate Change' Is Horsepuckey
When you're getting lectured on climate change by douchebag hypocrites like Leonardo DiCaprio, skepticism makes perfect sense.

(CNSNews.com) ‐ Nearly three-quarters of Americans don’t trust that there is a large "scientific consensus" amongst climate scientists on human behavior being the cause of climate change, according to an in-depth survey on "the politics of climate" released Tuesday by Pew Research Center.

According to the survey, only 27 percent of Americans agree that "almost all" climate scientists say that human behavior is mostly responsible for climate change, while 35 percent say that "more than half" of climate scientists agree on this. An additional 35 percent of those surveyed say that fewer than half (20%) or almost no (15%) climate scientists believe that human behavior is the main contributing factor in climate change.

Pew contrasted this to the United Nations’ Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), which "stated in the forward to its 2013 report, ’the science now shows with 95 percent certainty that human activity is the dominant cause of observed warming since the mid-20th century.’"

When you omit the primary heat source of the planet from your climate models, as the IPCC has done, conformist 'scientists' dependent on government grants will reach this conclusion.

Klingon Master: We 'have to assume' terrorist activity in the U.S.
[CNN] The director of the CIA said Wednesday despite the government's best efforts, the likelihood of terrorist activity in the United States is strong.

"So I think we have to assume there's something here in the states," said John Brennan, in an interview for CNN's "Erin Burnett OutFront" that aired Wednesday night. "We have to be relentless in terms of going after them."

Brennan, who was appointed to lead the CIA shortly before President Barack Obama's second term, said "it's impossible to say" whether ISIS has operatives or cells in the United States, and he credited the "tremendous advances in information sharing and interaction between federal officials" in making it difficult for terrorists to operate in the country.

He said he is confident that the US will be "able to remove other senior members" of ISIS, including the organization's leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

Trump uses Alinsky tactics against Clinton
h/t Instapundit
One of the oldest and truest sayings in community organizing is: "The action is in the reaction." Yes, it was the founder of citizen organizing in the United States and perennial far-right piñata, Saul Alinsky, who said it.

Alinsky wasn’t advising a billionaire real estate developer who wants huge tax cuts for the wealthy. He was trying to equip the truly powerless -- workers in dangerous stockyards, tenants in dreadful tenements -- with a useful tool.

...In the current presidential campaign, one person intuitively understands Alinksy’s insight. Donald Trump showed again in the first debate that he’s intent on initiating action after action. His wild charges and outrageous statements have no content, no weight, no meaning. Their sole purpose is to provoke a reaction -- from Hillary Clinton, from the media, from the frustrated supporters of his opponent.
Trump is not just a demagogue, a Hitler, a friend of Israel and Putin (which is worse nowadays?), he's cultural appropriator!

#3  Alinsky wasn’t advising a billionaire real estate developer who wants huge tax cuts for the wealthy. He was trying to equip the truly powerless -- workers in dangerous stockyards, tenants in dreadful tenements -- with a useful tool

Alinsky is made to look like a candidate for sainthood. No so much the truth however. During the Depression he was an organizer for a labor unions such as the CIO. This was a time when mobsters were entrenched in the labor unions (not so much different today except instead of calling them mobsters they are called left politicians). He also hung around with Frank Niti, the Enforcer of Capone-era fame--supposedly Alinsky really was privy to where the bodies were buried. He like our Community Organizer in Chief was a community organizer although one would be hard-pressed to find any community that was better as the result of their efforts. Hillary was an admirer of Alinsky who dedicated his book to the devil, the first community organizer. Hillary does not like the memory of their saint be sullied by Republicans who use their tactics against them. They will yell foul.

Court rebukes Mike Pence, rules states must accept Syrian refugees
[Wash Times] States that refuse to help resettle Syrian refugees are guilty of illegal discrimination, a federal appeals court ruled Monday, delivering a judicial rebuke to GOP vice presidential nominee Mike Pence, who, as Indiana’s governor, had tried to stop Syrians from being shipped into his state.

Judge Richard Posner, writing for the three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, said there’s no evidence that Syrians are more dangerous than other refugees, and he said even if they are, allowing Indiana to refuse to resettle them would only foist the problem onto neighboring states.

"Federal law does not allow a governor to deport to other states immigrants he deems dangerous," Judge Posner wrote. He said if Mr. Pence has worries, the governor should report his fears to federal bureaucrats for redress.
The court fails to address the larger issue of the legality of refugee influx, but codifies the equal sharing of misery, crime, and costs across state lines. How very progressive.

Afghanistan
Taliban Fighters Penetrate Heart of Afghan City of Kunduz
[WSJ] Taliban forces battled their way into the heart of Kunduz on Monday despite efforts by U.S.-backed Afghan government forces to defend the northern city against the coordinated assault, officials and residents said.

The lightning offensive, which came almost a year to the day after the Islamist Lions of Islam briefly seized control of the city in a similar attack, deals a sharp blow to efforts by the government of President Ashraf Ghani
...former chancellor of Kabul University, now president of Afghanistan. Before returning to Afghanistan in 2002 he was a scholar of political science and anthropology. He worked at the World Bank working on international development assistance. As Finance Minister of Afghanistan between July 2002 and December 2004, he led Afghanistan's attempted economic recovery until the Karzais stole all the money. ..
to quell the 15-year insurgency and arrest the growing insecurity that has swept the country in recent months.

In less than a day, many government offices in Kunduz, including the headquarters of the provincial council, fell to the bully boys, and heavy fighting was raging in many parts of the city, said Sayed Assadullah Sadat, a council member.

"The Taliban have reached the city’s main square and taken control of it," Akbar Farhang, a resident, said by telephone from Kunduz.

The governor’s office, along with the city’s airport and its main Afghan army base, remained in government control, Mr. Sadat and other residents said, as U.S. warplanes provided air support to Afghan troops on the ground.

The U.S.-led coalition appeared unaware of a major assault just hours before the Taliban entered the city. "At this point, we are not observing evidence via our internal means to support the reports that Kunduz is under significant attack," it had said on Twitter early Monday.

Some residents were fleeing as Taliban forces advanced, Mr. Sadat said, while others had locked themselves indoors in parts of Kunduz that had fallen under bully boys’ control. Human rights groups last year accused the gunnies of abuses when they were in control of the city, including summary executions of people suspected of working for the government.

"The Taliban have taken the neighborhood I live in. They are in control of half of the city," said Mohammad Essa. "The children are frightened and everybody is so scared."

Afghan special forces arrived in Kunduz late Monday in an effort to regain control of the city, a replay of events last year when the elite teams, backed by U.S. soldiers on the ground, fought for days to drive out the bully boys.

More from Khaama:
The Taliban militants group has released numerous videos earlier this evening which purportedly shows the capture of the strategic Kunduz city in north of Afghanistan.

The authenticity of the videos which can not be independently verified shows the Taliban group moving towards the main square which was captured by the group last year.

The group has also released several other videos which purportedly shows the militants of Taliban moving in parts of the city as they hang around the public places in the city.

However the officials in the Ministry of Defense have rejected the fall of the city to Taliban as baseless.
All lies!
The Ministry of Defense (MoD) said the Taliban militants launched an attack from the west part of the 3rd police district of the earlier today but the attack was repulsed.

MoD further added that additional forces have been deployed and more troops are on the way to repulse the Taliban attack.

Earlier, reports suggested that the militants of the group have started taking positions in the residential areas as they attempt to avoid airstrikes and ground operations by the Afghan forces.

The Taliban group launched a coordinated attack on Kunduz city earlier today, almost a year after the group captured the control of the city and coicides with a deadly airstrike carried out on MSF hospital in the city.

HSV-2 Swift destroyed off Yemeni Coast by Anti-Ship Missile
The futuristic looking HSV-2 Swift, an ex-U.S. Navy experimental high-speed logistics catamaran now being utilized by the UAE government, was struck by a missile on the evening of October 1, according to multiple reports. The ship was operating near the Yemeni port of Mokha located on the northeastern edge of the Mandeb Strait, a narrow and strategic body of water that connects the Red Sea with the Gulf of Aden. Iranian-backed Houthi rebel fighters have claimed responsibility for the attack.

The video below supposedly shows the attack. The missile launch does appear to be that of an anti-ship missile, and the ship on fire does appear to be an HSV-2. A massive explosion is shown when the supposed missile impacts the ship; it likely detonated the fuel onboard, plus any flammable or explosive cargo. The ship's aluminum hull and commercial ship design standards offer little resilience to an anti-ship missile attack, and the HSV-2 is not equipped with a close-in weapon system (CIWS) capable of fending off such attacks.

The UAE has formally acknowledged that there was an "incident" with the ship, but claims that no lives were lost. If the video above is legitimate, which it appears to be, that would be a miracle.

The Australian-built Swift was launched in 2002, and served with the Navy as a semi-operational test platform used to explore new sea basing, minesweeping, and high-speed logistical support concepts.

Her slightly older sister ships, USS Joint Venture and USAV Spearhead, also served with the US armed forces from the early- to the mid-2000s before being released from service.

US kills veteran al-Qaeda leader in Syria drone strike
[MIDDLEEASTEYE.NET] A veteran member of al-Qaeda attached to the recently disaffiliated Syrian arm of the Death Eater group was killed on Monday by a US drone strike near Idlib.

The Death Eater organization and the Pentagon confirmed Ahmed Salameh Mabrouk's death.

Mabrouk, an Egyptian Death Eater, came to fame after appearing next to Abu Mohammed al-Golani, who leads Jabhat Fateh al-Sham
...formerly al-Nusra, the current false nose and mustache of al-Qaeda in the Levant...
, in a video released in August announcing the group's plans to disaffiliate from al-Qaeda.

Killed near Jisr al-Shughour in Idlib province, Mabrouk, also known as Abu Faraj, had longstanding connections to al-Qaeda's leadership.

Despite the group's claims of a split from al-Qaeda, numerous analysts told Middle East Eye this year that al-Golani's video appearance with Abu Faraj, who is known to have longstanding relations with its leader, Ayman al-Zawahari, was significant.

As a confidante of the al-Qaeda leader since the 1990s, Abu Faraj had operated on behalf of al-Qaeda in Egypt, Pakistain, Afghanistan, Yemen, Sudan, Russia and Azerbaijan, according to analysts at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, an American think-tank known for hawkish views on Iran.

According to academic and longtime Syria commentator Charles Lister, one of Abu Faraj's laptops was once siezed by the CIA in Azerbaijan. The ceased laptops were described by CIA operatives at the time as the "Rosetta Stone of al-Qaeda."

In April, Abu Faraj was the target of an earlier drone strike in which Egyptian national Rifai Taha was killed. The pair were attending a meeting with al-Qaeda figures in Syria.

Rebranding itself as Fateh al-Sham, the former al-Qaeda affiliate has played a prominent role in the recent attempt by rebel groups to break the siege around Aleppo.

The group eulogised Abu Faraj.

"Ahmed Salama, known as Abu Faraj the Egyptian and a member of the shura (consultative council) of Fateh al-Sham Front, was martyred after a coalition air strike in the west of Idlib province," tFateh al-Sham said in a statement on the Telegram app.

A Pentagon front man said on Monday that the United States is aware of the former al-Qaeda affiliate’s name change, but stressed that the group’s Lions of Islam are still viewed as Nusra by Washington.

The group was recently exempted from an attempted ceasefire deal aimed at ending the siege of east Aleppo and facilitating the delivery of humanitarian aid into the besieged rebel-controlled areas.

Rebel groups were originally opposed to the ceasefire deal as it included plans for Russia and the US to collaborate on air strikes against Fateh al-Sham.
An Nahar adds:
Mabrouk was born in 1956 in Egypt's Giza province.

‘Whites only have 5 years left in SA‚' sez FN's Hannes Engelbrecht
[Times Live] Should "the diminishing white population" fail to "realise self-determination within the next five years...the Afrikaner will be a nation in true diaspora".

That's according to Front National leader Hannes Engelbrecht‚ who quoted the "latest figures from Statistics South Africa" that show "95 158 whites emigrated between 2011 and June 2015".

"It means that close to a million whites have already sought their livelihood outside the third world country in western countries; and the trend is continuing‚" Engelbrecht said on Tuesday.

"During the same four-year period 1 067 937 blacks from Africa and 40 929 Asians immigrated to South Africa‚ making it impossible for the remaining whites to maintain their demographic rights.

"I honestly believe we only have five years left. If white South Africans don’t put their money and votes into the ideal of self-determination now‚ the sell-out of 1994 will be complete." Engelbrecht said the exodus represented a brain drain‚ as "the white emigrants were mostly the skilled‚ educated and experienced whites sought after by developed western countries".

"This bodes ill for South Africa as a whole. It is fast turning into a typical third world African country that will never be able to return to normality with such an influx of foreigners and exit of skilled people."

Hopefully this demographic 'change' model will not be employed elsewhere.

Suicide attack on Kurdish wedding kills at least 22 in northeast Syria
[MIDDLEEASTEYE.NET] A jacket wallah killed at least 22 people on Monday in an attack on a wedding party in the northeastern Syrian province of al-Hasakah, according to independent Kurdish media outlets.

"A suicide bomber went kaboom! inside a hall in Tall Tawil village during the wedding of a member of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF)," Rami Abdel Rahman, head of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, told AFP.

Al-Hasakeh is controlled by the SDF, described by the Economist magazine as "essentially a subsidiary of the Kurdish YPG," who are in turn seen as the Syrian wing of the Turkish-Kurdish PKK.

In 2015, Syrian government forces were forced out of the al-Hasakah by the Islamic State

group, who were in turn forced out by Syrian-Kurdish militias.

Pro-Kurdish news outlets also reported that 47 others were maimed and that the attack took place in north of al-Hasakah, at the Sanabil Hall.

No group has grabbed credit for the attack so far, but suspicion immediately fell on the Islamic State group who have been in involved in frequent festivities with the SDF.

ISIS destroys, loots archaeological sites near Kirkuk
[Iraq News] Iraqi media outlets reported on Sunday that ISIS blew up and robbed graves and archaeological sites in the areas under its control, southwest of the province Kirkuk.

"ISIS bombed nearly 100 archaeological graves in the vicinity of Hawija (55 km southwest of Kirkuk), using kabooms and bulldozers," Al Sumaria News stated. "Groups belonging to ISIS exhumed a number of archaeological sites in the areas of Tel al-Mahwis and al-Riyadh (45 km southwest of Kirkuk) and stole antiquities found in those locations," Al Sumaria added.

The Iraqi website also revealed that the members of the terror group did not receive their salaries due to the loss of financial resources, which was provided by the smuggling of crude oil. Thus, selling antiquities provides needed financial resources for the ISIS group.

The areas located southwest of Kirkuk have been under the ISIS control since June 2014, including the areas of Hawija, Zab, Riyad, Abbasi and Rashad. These areas are known to have important antiquities and archaeological sites belonging to the Assyrian era.

Chief Chechen on drug abusers: 'Shoot them dead!'
Competing with Duterte?
[RT] Chechen strongman Ramzan Kadyrov has likened the threat from drug abusers on the roads to that of terrorists, telling ministers that security forces must not hesitate to use lethal force to ensure public safety. At a meeting with ministers and religious leaders Kadyrov said, "To hell with those who violate order in the Chechen Republic, they should be shot dead. It doesn’t matter if it's against the law… shoot them dead! Got it? ... that's the law!”

The chief Chechen apparently lost his temper after learning about the sharply-rising rate of traffic-related deaths caused by drug intoxication.

Last year Chechnya introduced strict laws that enabled police to strip intoxicated drivers not only of their driving licenses, but of their cars as well. However, that measure has failed to significantly change the situation. Chechen authorities also limited the sale of alcohol from 8am-10am. Following the restriction, the number of people using drugs in the form of pills instead of alcoholic beverages soared.

Recently, Kadyrov said that terrorism would be fully eradicated in the republic, and that the next step would be a war on drugs. He said, "We have neutralized thousands of bandits [terrorists] that came here from dozens of countries. A set of measures helped us change the situation with drugs. According to various sources, Chechnya is one of the most successful regions in this regard," adding that there is still no place for complacency.

U.S. breaks off diplomatic talks with Russia to end bloodshed in Syria
[LATIMES] The B.O. regime Monday made good on an ultimatum delivered last week and withdrew its cooperation with Russia over Syria, signaling anger and exasperation at relentless Russian and Syrian Arclight airstrikes on Aleppo and other civilian sites.

The decision means Washington is breaking off diplomatic negotiations with Russia over Syria's fate and cancels plans to share military intelligence and operations-related information, including targeting, with Moscow.

"This is not a decision that was taken lightly," State Department front man John Kirby said in a statement.

The decision came after continuous negotiations, including near-daily telephone conversations between Secretary of State John F. Kerry and his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov, aimed at reducing violence and opening up routes for desperately needed food and medicine for besieged enclaves.

"Unfortunately, Russia failed to live up to its own commitments," Kirby said, "and was also either unwilling or unable to ensure Syrian regime adherence to the arrangements to which Moscow agreed."

US Islamic school wins lengthy legal battle to set up facility in Michigan
[MIDDLEEASTEYE.NET] An Islamic school in Michigan has been awarded $1.7m after settling its lawsuit for the right to build a new facility, following a five-year legal battle that those involved say paves the way for Moslem-Americans across the country to protect their rights.

The Michigan Islamic Academy (MIA) brought a lawsuit against Pittsfield Township, in the midwestern US state of Michigan, arguing that it was unlawfully denied the right to build a school on its property.

The school used the Religious Land Use and Institutionalized Persons Act (RLUIPA), which protects individuals and religious institutions against discrimination in zoning, and the Establishment and Equal Protection Clauses of the United States Constitution.

Last week, the MIA announced the township agreed to settle the lawsuit for $1.7m. The academy also has the green light to build a 70,000-square-foot facility, a residential development consisting of 22 duplex units and three single-family homes, and a park.

"The community in general is elated by the settlement," said Dawud Walid, executive director at the Michigan chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations
... the Moslem Brüderbund's American arm ...
(CAIR
...designated a terrorist group by the UAE...
-MI), which brought the lawsuit.

Walid told Middle East Eye the local Moslem community has grown substantially in the last 25 years, and the current MIA facility is overcrowded and does not meet the community’s current needs.

"That was the whole purpose of buying the property to establish a new school because the current location is simply too small for the current needs of the community, much less the expected growth of Moslems in that part of Michigan," he said.

Syrian cave hospital out of action after 'bunker-buster' attack
[MIDDLEEASTEYE.NET] A fortified hospital built deep into a hillside in Syria's Hama province was out of action on Monday after being hit by suspected "bunker buster" bombs while another strike hit the M10 hospital in Aleppo.

The latest attacks on hospitals in northern Syria came as suicide kabooms in the bustling provincial capital Hama killed two people, as rebel sources said they were opening a new front to ease pressure on besieged Aleppo.

The KafrZita hospital, dug 15 metres into a hill, was reported "out of operation" after being hit on Sunday at 5pm, according to the Syrian American Medical Society (SAMS). No casualties were reported.

The attack came as as a coalition of rebels edge closer to government-controlled Hama city, which has largely remained immune to the violence of the Syrian war.

Sources told Middle East Eye that rebels were putting pressure on government forces in Hama in an attempt to relieve pressure on Aleppo, which has suffered weeks of intense bombing by Russian and Syrian aircraft.

SAMS representative Adham Sahloul told MEE that the "cave hospital" was treating patients who were suffering from breathing difficulties in a chlorine attack when it was itself bombed.

Saudi abandons Islamic calendar for govt pay
[DAWN] Saudi government workers will be paid according to the Gregorian calendar instead of the Islamic Hijri calendar, making the working month longer as part of cost-cutting measures, newspapers reported Monday.

The change, approved by cabinet last week, brings civil service pay in line with the government's January-December fiscal year, the Arab News and Saudi Gazette reported.

The reports said the latest austerity measure took effect on October 1.

Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
, the world's biggest oil exporter, is cutting government spending and re-orienting its economy after a collapse over the past two years of the global oil price which provided most of its revenue.

The Hijri calender consists of 12 months of 29 or 30 days depending on the sighting of the moon, meaning the Islamic year is several days shorter than the Gregorian calendar, which is widely used in the world.

FBI Made 'Side Deals' to Destroy Top Clinton Aides' Laptops
[Zero Hedge] Just when you think the Hillary email scandal can't get any more bizarre and corrupt, it does. According to a just released letter from the Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, Bob Goodlatte (R - Virginia), to Attorney General Lynch, the FBI apparently struck "side agreements" with both Cheryl Mills an Heather Samuelson to "destroy" their "laptops after concluding its search."

In the attached, Goodlatte questioned why the destruction of the laptops used to sort Clinton's emails was included in immunity deals that already protected Mills and Samuelson from prosecution based on the records recovered from their computers. Furthermore, we learn that according to the immunity agreements, FBI agents limited their search to documents authored before Jan. 2015. The Republican argued such parameters prevented investigators from examining potential proof of the destruction of evidence that may have occurred after that date, and that the deals offered to Mills and Samuelson already protected the aides from prosecution related to their alleged roles in the deletion of federal records.

"Like many things about this case, these new materials raise more questions than answers," Goodlatte wrote of the "side agreements," which lawmakers were allowed to read even though they have not yet been released in full to members of Congress.

Kurds, ISIS fight it out over Bartilla
[ARA News] ERBIL – Kurdish Peshmerga shelled an Islamic State (ISIS) headquarters on Monday. Military sources reported that the barrage occurred near a Christian town in Iraq’s northwestern Nineveh Governorate.

The Peshmerga employed heavy artillery, bombing ISIS redoubts in Bartilla town, east of Mosul city.

“The bombardment caused a massive destruction to the ISIS headquarters in Bartilla. At least 16 ISIS terrorists were killed,” Kurdish army officer Lukman Baker said.

After the attack, intense clashes took place between Peshmerga forces and ISIS militants in the town’s vicinity. Two Peshmerga fighters were killed and five others were injured.

Iraqi Kurdistan hosts thousands of Christian civilians who fled from ISIS-held areas, notably Mosul. According to Baker, the Kurdish forces are trying to liberate Bartilla and other similar areas from ISIS in order to facilitate the return of the displaced civilians.

“Hundreds of Christians have been displaced from the town after ISIS took over Mosul [in June 2014],” local media activist Hawar Duhoki told ARA News. “The Peshmerga are trying to regain the town for its strategic location at the eastern entrance of Mosul, in preparation for attacking the city with support from the US-led coalition and the Iraqi Army.”

Taliban Seize Helmand's Nawa District
Taliban on Monday launched a coordinated assault on Nawa district in the southern province of Helmand, seizing control of the strategic town from government forces.

Nawa police chief was also killed during the battle with the hardline militant group.

"We have pushed back the enemy in Aqtash, Khanabad and Qala-e-Zal distircts. The enemy has tried to keep us busy here," said Mohammad Radmanish, deputy spokesman for Defense Ministry.

Meanwhile, Helmand lawmakers warned that Khanashin, Marjah, Nad Ali and Garmsir districts are also on the verge of collapse.

"When they [government] see Taliban silent for some days, they think that they have eliminated all of them, but they [Taliban] are deceiving them and making their plans for their next attacks," said Fatima Aziz, an MP.

"Most parts of Helmand are under siege by Taliban and the war is ongoing in Lashkargah," said Hashim Alokozay, another MP.

In recent weeks, Taliban has changed their tactics and launched attacks on major towns.

"The war has reached a deadlock. There is no possibility of launching large-scale military operations by the security forces due to extension and complexity of the war," said Saleh Mohammad Registani, a military commentator.

Tunisia sentences 31 to death for attack on minister
TUNIS: A Tunisian court has handed 31 people death sentences over a 2014 attack on the home of then interior minister Lotfi Ben Jeddou, a judiciary spokesman said on Monday.

The 31, who included Algerians as well as Tunisians, were sentenced in absentia and some are reported to be already dead.

Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) claimed the attack on the minister’s family home in the western border region of Kasserine, which left four police officers dead.

Ben Jeddou was not in the house at the time.

Those convicted were found guilty of “wilful homicide and membership of a terrorist group” and were also sentenced to 36 years in prison.

A total of 46 people were prosecuted over the attack, said the spokesman for Tunis district court, Sofiene Sliti.

Among the 15 remaining defendants, eight were sentenced to between three and 10 years in jail for “membership of a terrorist group” and “involvement in terrorism-related matters.”

The court, which issued the rulings on Friday, dismissed cases against the remaining seven, Sliti told AFP.

Among the 31 sentenced to death were Seifallah Ben Hassine, an associate of late Al-Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden and founder of the jihadist group Ansar Al-Sharia.

The New York Times has reported that Ben Hassine, also known by the nom de guerre Abou Iyadh, was killed in an air strike in Libya in mid-June last year.

The list also included Lokmane Abu Sakhr, an Algerian jihadist killed by Tunisian security forces at the end of March last year, also in Kasserine.

Since its independence from France in 1956, Tunisia has carried out 135 executions, but has observed a moratorium on the practice since 1991.

A new anti-terror law adopted in July upheld the death penalty, despite condemnation by local and international rights groups.
Since Tunisia’s 2011 revolution, jihadist attacks have cost dozens of lives among security forces as well as civilians.

Attacks claimed by the Daesh group on the National Bardo Museum in Tunis and a beach resort also killed 59 foreign tourists in 2015.

Arabia
Soddys respond to attack on ship
Aden, Cairo- Saudi-led Arab coalition running a military campaign to restore Yemen’s legitimacy launched a series of intensified airstrikes against various sights in Houthi-held Sana’a on Sunday.

The raids come in response to Houthi militants claiming a previous attack against a vessel operated by the United Arab Emirates military, which is part of an Arab coalition fighting in support of Yemen’s government.

Yemeni locals reported to Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper that the coalition’s recent offensive targeted insurgency weapon stockpiles located west of the capital Sana’a. Sources add that the air campaign targeted militia hubs in the Nihm District.

The coalition has been aiding the elected and internationally recognized government to retake control over the war-torn country. Most fighting includes Iran-backed militants staging an insurgency along with the aid of combatants supporting ousted president Ali Abdullah Saleh.

The UAE military said on Saturday that a boat under its command was involved in an “incident” in the Bab al-Mandeb Strait off Yemen’s southern coast. The vessel was attacked by Houthi militants. But the coalition rescued its civilian passengers.

The Houthis claimed the attack, saying that their forces had destroyed a UAE military vessel that was advancing toward the Red Sea port of Al-Mokha.

“Armed forces destroyed with a missile a military vessel belonging to the forces of the UAE,” a military official was quoted as saying by the Saba Yemeni news agency, run by the dominant Houthi movement since it seized Sana’a, last year.

In a statement, the Arab coalition said the vessel belonged to the UAE Marine Dredging Company “on its usual route to and from Aden to transfer relief and medical aid and evacuate wounded civilians to complete their treatment outside Yemen.”

“Coalition air and naval forces were targeting Houthi militia boats involved in the attack,” it said.

The coalition said the incident showed that Houthi tactics involved what it called “terrorist attacks” against civilian international navigation in the waterway.

For its part, Gulf Cooperation Council member states condemned the attack, considering it a clear violation against international maritime law and an act of terror which attacks international and regional efforts to send relief to Yemen.

Indian Coast Guard detains 9 Pak fishermen
[Dawn] NEW DELHI: Indian Coast Guard has apprehended a Pakistani boat with nine crew members from the Arabian Sea off Gujarat, The Hindu reported on Sunday.

It said the coast guard ship Samudra Pavak apprehended the boat and its crew at around 10:15am on Sunday.

According to a preliminary inquiry, crew members are fishermen. “The preliminary information indicates the crew to be Pakistani fishermen. However, the boat and the crew member are being escorted to Porbandar for further rummaging / joint investigation,” said a release issued by the Defence PRO Wing Commander Abhishek Matiman.

The coast guard has intensified surveillance along the 1,600km-long coastline in Gujarat in the wake of self-proclaimed surgical strikes by Indian security forces in Azad Kashmir. The ‘surgical strikes’ were conducted by India after a terrorist attack on its military camp at Uri in held Kashmir in which 18 soldiers were killed.

The coast guard has deployed ships and aircraft to enhance surveillance and vigil.

“In the prevailing security scenario...enhanced vigil with deployment of ships and aircraft by the Indian coast guard is being exercised off the Gujarat coast,” the release said.

Shazia Hasan adds from Karachi: A Pakistan Fisherfolk Forum (PFF) spokesman was reluctant to confirm the capture.

“The PFF immediately got in touch with the fisher folk along the Sindh coastline for confirmation of the incident but so far we have nothing to confirm it,” said PFF spokesman Kamal Shah, though he appeared to be aware of reports about the incident.

“Fisher folk of Karachi, Thatta and Badin and many others living along the coastline are bracing themselves for the worst,” said Mr Shah. “They say that since many fishing boats are out to sea they would only find out if any one is missing when the boats return in a day or two.”

“We lose contact with the boats once they are out. News about the incident then would either be with another boat near it, or we can determine that a boat is missing when it fails to return back home,” he explained, adding that the fisher folk community was quite disturbed by the news and was waiting to hear the name of the captured boat or the men abroad it.

Nine dead as Italy rescues 6,055 migrants on disaster anniversary
[MIDDLEEASTEYE.NET] Italia's coastguard said nine corpses were recovered in operations in which 6,055 people were rescued off Libya on Monday, three years to the day after 366 people died in the sinking incident that first alerted the world to the Mediterranean migrant crisis.

In a poignant reminder of the ongoing drama being played out on Europe's southern shores, the coastguard coordinated the rescue of a total of 39 distressed vessels, the bulk of them overcrowded rubber dinghies but also including five converted fishing boats crammed full of people, mostly Africans.

Just under 200 minors were among those saved from one of the former fishing boats which had some 720 people on board, according to NGO SOS Mediterranee.

Most of the minors were unaccompanied and nine were under five years old. At least 10 of the 191 women on board were pregnant.

Two women and a child had to be evacuated for medical treatment after suffering severe burns caused by spilled fuel during a rescue from a rubber dinghy by a boat operated by the Doctors without Borders (MSF) charity.

A young pregnant woman died from her burns after being rescued during a second operation by the MSF boat dignity, the charity said.

"It is unacceptable that in 2016 these people have no other choice than to embark on these incredibly dangerous sea journeys," said MSF coordinator Nicolas Papachrysostomou.

The Italian coastguard said the operations had taken place in an area around 30 miles north of the Libyan capital Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...

And then the invaders were returned to Libya rather than stupidly carried the rest of the way to Europe?

Syrian rebels advance in Dabiq
[ARA News] ALEPPO – Warplanes of the US-led coalition on Monday struck the ISIS-held town of Dabiq in Syria’s northern Aleppo Governorate.

The coalition targeted an ISIS training camp and a security centre in Dabiq, killing and wounding over 20 militants.

Another airstrike hit a residential neighbourhood in the town. “At least eight civilians were killed and ten others wounded in the air raid,” rights activist Habib Saleh told ARA News.

Dabiq is mentioned in an Islamic Hadith about the end of the world. Consequently, the Islamic State’s online magazine is named after the town.

ISIS believes that Dabiq is where Muslim and infidel forces will eventually face each other. According to the Hadith, “after the infidel forces’ defeat, the apocalypse will begin”.

Also on Monday, Turkey-backed rebels captured new areas in the northern countryside of Aleppo.

“Backed by an air cover from the coalition, rebel fighters of the Euphrates Shield expelled ISIS from the eastern suburb of Maree town,” rebel spokesman Salih al-Zein told ARA News.

“The rebels have also captured the Akhtarin village after heavy clashes with ISIS,” the spokesman said, adding that four ISIS militants were killed and several others were wounded in the clashes.

US Supports Battle for Dabiq
The US-led coalition is supporting an offensive by Turkey-backed rebels with the aim of seizing the town of Dabiq. Dabiq is heavily defended by the Islamic State (ISIS), owing to its importance in Muslim eschatology.

Coalition envoy Brett McGurk said on Sunday: “The coalition is actively supporting [Turkey-backed] Syrian opposition forces as they advance to within a few kilometers of [ISIS’] weakening stronghold Dabiq.”

On August 24, Turkey launched the Euphrates Shield Operation with the goal of preventing the Syrian Kurds from uniting their canton administrations.

This led to clashes between the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and Turkey-backed rebels.

At the same time, both the SDF and Turkey-backed rebels are advancing in the direction of al-Bab City, another ISIS stronghold.

Libyan forces lose six fighters in Sirte
[AlArabiya] Libyan forces resumed a ground attack on Sunday against ISIS militants encircled in their former stronghold of Sirte, losing at least six of their fighters, according to a field hospital casualty list.

The list named six killed fighters, three of them from the city of Misrata. The forces also said that the bodies of at least 10 slain ISIS militants had been counted. The report could not be verified.

Forces dominated by fighters from Misrata and aligned with Libya’s UN-backed government have been battling to capture Sirte for more than four months.

Supported since Aug. 1 by US air strikes, they have taken control of most of the city and have been besieging militants trapped in a thin residential strip near Sirte’s seafront for several weeks.

Their advance has been slowed by ISIS snipers, improvised explosive devices and suicide bombings in close quarter street battles. Occasional ground attacks are interspersed by rest periods that allow fighters to regroup and
hospitals to clear casualties.

The Misrata-led forces said in a statement posted on social media that they had conducted air sorties in preparation for a ground offensive on Sunday in Sirte’s neighborhood Number Three.

As of Friday, the United States said it had carried out a total of 177 air strikes against ISIS in Sirte.

Abu Sayyaf releases three Indonesian hostages
[Mindanao Examiner] Abu Sayyaf rebels on Sunday freed 3 Indonesian hostages to the Moro National Liberation Front in the southern Philippines. Officials identified them as Muhammad Mahbrur Dahri, Ferry Arifin and Edi Suryono, all tugboat crew members who were kidnapped in Sabah on June 22. The boat was heading to East Kalimantan following a trip from the Philippines when gunmen on speedboats intercepted the vessel.

MNLF chief Nur Misuari, escorted by dozens of armed followers, personally handed over the hostages to Sulu Governor Totoh Tan. Tan immediately turned them over to the Philippine military after feeding them.

Indonesian media previously reported that the hostages were held by the cell of Alhabsi Misaya, a former MNLF militant. Misaya left the MNLF and joined the Abu Sayyaf several years ago after Misuari reportedly ordered his execution, according to military intelligence reports.

Recently, Malaysia has ordered negotiators to intensify talks with the Abu Sayyaf in an effort to secure the freedom of five Malaysian tugboat crew members being held captive in Sulu.

The Abu Sayyaf contacted the Malaysian newspaper The Star and allowed one of the hostages Mohd Ridzuan Ismail to speak to its staff. Mohd Ridzuan said they were constantly being threatened and beaten by the Abu Sayyaf, and pleaded desperately with authorities to secure their safe release. He said, "We can’t bear it anymore. We are in pain. All of us are sick. We have cuts on our bodies. We are weak. No food to eat. What’s more, we are beaten. There are people who want to shoot us. Please help us."

He said a man who introduced himself as Abu Rami demanded P100 million ransoms for the five Malaysian hostages, who are reportedly being held in three separate groups in Luuk town.

Mohd Ridzuan said their captors only give them rice and rarely feed them. "We're suffering in Jolo (Sulu) Island. We appeal to the Malaysian government and our boss to negotiate for our release as we want to return home as soon as possible. We are frightened. This is not our place. They whack us and they told us that they can shoot us," he said.

group who are suspected of plotting suicide kabooms and trying to recruit other women to join the myrmidons.

The ministry said in a statement that the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations dismantled the cell of women faceless myrmidons Monday, in operations in eight towns.

The ministry chemical products seized at the home of one suspect could be used in explosives.

The women allegedly declared allegiance to IS, and some have family ties to Moroccan fighters with IS in Syria or Iraq, the statement said. The women are in jug pending further investigation.

Radicalization among disenchanted youth is a growing problem in Morocco, and authorities have stepped up operations against suspected IS cells.

Details behind Saudi ‘mother of death’
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Gone are the days when unfortunate parents would be shocked to discover their children’s path to extremism only after they had committed atrocities. This doesn’t seem to be true anymore.

In more recent times, the trend being dubbed by regional media as "mothers of death" has seen sons being prompted to join the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) by their own parents.

One such instance came to light recently when 17 people were tossed in the clink

, including 13 Saudis, an Egyptian, a Yemeni, a Paleostinian and a woman.
...the last of whom clearly has no nationality.
They were found to be conspiring to carry out terrorist activities.

Among them was a woman named Khulood al-Rukaibi.

Who was Khulood al-Rukaibi?
Rukaibi, known by ISIS as "Umm Mohammed" is in her late forties with a primary level education. She married a man who was allegedly weak in being "the man of the house". He fathered her six children ‐ four boys and two girls.

According to AlArabiya.net’s investigation, social media sources reported that one of Khulood’s sons is already fighting in Syria. Two of her other sons ‐ Hamad and Nassar ‐ were recruited to carry out attacks inside Saudi Arabia.

According to investigations carried out by the Saudi Ministry of Interior, she was the brain and the power behind the ISIS cell that were planning to carry out attacks in Saudi Arabia but were foiled during a September 18 raid by the authorities.

Those three cells were planning four attacks and had reached advanced stages of preparation. The aim was to target citizens, religious scholars, security forces and military, security and economic facilities in different areas as well as religious sites in al-Ahsa and security headquarters linked to the defense and interior ministries.
With that kind of ambition in her heart, perhaps her husband was wise to play King Log at home.

2 die in ISIS bombing attack in Hama
[AlManar] At least two people were killed on Monday in suicide blasts in the central Syrian city of Hama, claimed by the ISIL terrorist group.

State news agency SANA, citing a local police source, said two “terrorists” detonated their explosive belts near Assi Square in the city center about 15 minutes apart. The attack killed two people and wounded 12 others, Hama governor Ghassan Khalaf told state television.

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitor, one of the blasts hit a building used by the ruling Baath party. The ISIL-affiliated Amaq news agency said “suicide attacks by fighters from the ‘Islamic State’ using explosive vests” targeted government buildings in the city.

The Grand Turk
One dead after rockets from Syria hit Turkish town
[AlArabiya] One Turkish policeman was killed and two soldiers wounded on Sunday after three rockets fired from an area in Syria controlled by ISIS militants hit the border town of Kilis, the provincial governor's office said.

The three rockets caused no initial damage when they hit an empty area in the centre of the Turkish town, which has been repeatedly struck by rockets fired from Syria over the last months.

However the policeman was killed and two soldiers wounded when they went to destroy the unexploded ordnance, which blew up, the Kilis governor's office said in a statement.

The Turkish army meanwhile said it responded to the rocket attack with artillery fire according to the rules of engagement.

The strikes come 40 days into an unprecedented incursion into Syria by Turkish forces aimed at rooting ISIS militants and Kurdish militia from the border area.

The necessity of ending cross border rocket strikes like the latest attacks on Kilis was one of the reasons given by the government for the operation.

Kilis has come under repeated attack from rocket fire from Syria in the last months, with 23 people killed, over half of them Syrian refugees.

Illegal Foreign Voting in Virginia Covered Up by Soros-Backed Democratic Officials
[BREITBART] Virginia’s election officials are enabling illegal registration and voting by foreign citizens, according to an extensive new study, titled "Alien Invasion in Virginia," by a former Department of Justice civil rights lawyer.

"Virginia election officials don’t seem to care that thousands of [foreign] aliens have corrupted their voter rolls," by illegally registering to vote, said J. Christian Adams, the former Department of Justice lawyer, and now the president of the Public Interest Legal Foundation. "Even worse than doing nothing about it, they are trying to cover it up," he told Breitbart News.

Even small amounts of illegal voting can make a decisive difference -- Democratic Virginia Attorney General Mark Herring defeated Republican Mark Obenshain in 2013 by a mere 165 votes out of 2.2 million votes cast.

But "in the eight [out of 130-plus] jurisdictions that provided us with lists of aliens recently removed from their voter rolls, we discovered that 31 non-citizens had cast a total of 186 votes between 2005 and 2015," said the report, given first to Breitbart News.

"This is just a fraction of the aliens caught in just eight counties in a state with over 130 counties," Adams said. "Even with such a small sample, the number of aliens who got on the voter rolls is staggering. The aliens are casting ballots in a state where elections have been decided by a few hundred votes."

The new report is a partnership of the Virginia Voters Alliance and the Public Interest Legal Foundation, and it details how at least 1,046 non-citizens were allowed to vote based on official voting records, he said.

State-wide, "the problem is most certainly exponentially worse [than seen in the eight localities] because we have no data regarding aliens on the registration rolls for the other 125 Virginia localities," the report said. "When the voting history of this small sample of alien registrants is examined, nearly 200 verified ballots were cast before they were removed from the rolls. Each one of them is likely a felony."

The authors highlighted the role played by Edgardo Cortés, the commissioner of the commonwealth’s department of elections.

Before his appointment by Democratic Gov. Terence McAuliffe, Cortés was a left-wing operative of Virginia Voting Rights Restoration Campaign, within the left-wing Advancement Project. The project was funded and supported by George Soros, through his Tides Foundation and Open Society Foundations.

The report makes the direct charge: "At the instruction of Commissioner Cortés, local election officials refused to provide us with records showing the voting history of non-citizens removed from registration lists.

Previous to McAuliffe taking office in 2014, state officials had used the federal Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements database, it is also known as the SAVE database, to detect and remove aliens from the voting rolls, the report said.

One of the top priorities of the Soros’ Advancement Project is to stop the use of SAVE to purge voter lists.

Adams, who is the author of the book Injustice: Exposing the racial agenda of the Obama Justice Department, told Breitbart News Virginia state officials have willfully ignored the evidence of large-scale voter fraud.

"The state Board ‎of Elections, which has a 2-to-1 Democrat majority told local election officials to ignore our investigation, even though federal law gives PILF the right to inspect documents listing the aliens who were quietly removed from the rolls," he said.

Modi insists India never attacked any country
[DAWN] Even as the Indian prime minister insisted on Sunday that his country never attacked any country and never coveted anyone’s territory, his home minister said the country was "proud of the manner in which Indian troops carried out surgical strikes against myrmidon launch pads" in Azad Kashmire last week.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the Pravasi Bharatiya Kendra, a complex dedicated to overseas Indians, Narendra Modi said: "India has not attacked anyone; it is neither hungry for any territory."

He said that in the two World Wars (which were fought before India’s independence) as many as 150,000 Indian soldiers laid down their lives while "fighting for others".

While Modi’s speech was replete with references to the "sacrifices Indians had rendered for others", his Home Minister Rajnath Singh’s statement was full of praise for the troops "who carried out the surgical strikes" in Azad Kashmire.

"It is true that not everyone can handle traumatic events, be it from war, bad car accidents, violent crime or even surviving a hurricane," a VFW national spokesman said in response to Trump's comments in a statement provided to ABC News. "Regarding veterans, we need to treat those who need help and research how two people experiencing the same time and place can be impacted so differently."

What Trump said was some vets have difficulty handling the awful things many of his listeners had experienced. And that's just a fact. Otherwise, every vet would have PTSD.

#11  The source here is ABC News so of course what Trump said was reprehensible. But the fact is that if everybody could handle it then we wouldn't have a problem. Is that not the truth? I'm thinking that ABC News has a problem with the truth.

#12  newc, here's a piece of advice: Turn the damn TV off.

I know it's a cliche when politicians say their words were taken out of context but with sources like ABC we see it happening all the time. ABC doesn't lie by telling outright falsehoods. Rather, they present a thin sliver of the truth and then they spin it in a way that makes it look or sound like something entirely different than what it really was. They do not tell you the whole story in which the truth is revealed. It's just the same as lying but it kinda sorta gives them an out. It's disgusting.

Does your wife want to watch the news no matter what you think? Me too. It got so bad at my house that I was yelling and screaming whenever David Muir came on the TV screen. I'd threaten to throw my glass of whiskey at the TV then I'd think better of it and take my drink outside on the patio. Now we watch CBS instead. I think they're just as bad but perhaps a bit more subtle in their lies which is perhaps even worse. I still think it's nicer on the patio.

#14  Just a little selective editing by ABC news.

Much like NBC news 'selectively editing' the audio recording of Zimmerman.

Its not a mistake, its deliberate and therefore lying.

When I say that it was an ABC news report I thought it might have been so. As I recall they did the same with their Sarah Palin 'interview'. Selectively edit it to make her look like an idiot.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Al-Zoghbi reveals Russian plans for Hama, Idlib
Riyadh-Head of the Syrian opposition delegation to Geneva, Asaad al-Zoghbi revealed a Russian-Iranian plan in coordination with the Assad regime to move the systematic destructive battle from Aleppo to the city of Idlib and later to Hama.

In remarks to Asharq Al-Awsat published on Monday, al-Zoghbi said that a meeting of the opposition held in Istanbul two days ago agreed on uniting all military opposition factions under one brigade and one leadership capable of facing the Russian destructive forces that are supported by the Syrian regime and Iranian militias.
President Erdogan is organizing proxies to send to war against Russia? This seems... unwise.
Al-Zoghbi said opposition groups expect Gulf countries to take a position regarding the latest events in Aleppo.

According to him, the High Negotiations Committee is expected to meet in the next two days in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, to take a firmer position over the developments in Syria.

“The position will have two parts: Enhance the military operations and ask for the help of the international community without relying on Washington,” he said.
Congratulations, President Obama. Even the untrustworthy no longer trust you.
Commenting on the latest developments in Aleppo, al-Zoghbi said: “Currently, there is a complete systematic destruction of Aleppo, and this destruction is on its way to devastate Idlib and later Hama. The attention in Syria is not directed anymore to a revolution against the Assad regime, but rather towards the Aleppo battle. This is what the Russians and the Americans want.

“After this phase, an agreement will be reached supported by a decision from the U.N. Security Council. Then everybody will forget about what Assad controls from Lattakia to Damascus.”

The head of the Syrian negotiating team said scores of Russian warplanes are currently bombing Aleppo. “There was a Russian plan that the Russian Defense Minister and Iran had agreed on during a meeting held three months ago in Tehran to either totally control Aleppo, or completely destroy the city.”

He said that since the announcement of the alleged seven-day ceasefire during the Eid al-Adha, the Russians, the Iranians and the regime were mobilizing their forces and more than 8,300 soldiers to prepare for the battle of Aleppo.

Al-Zoghbi said that Saudi Arabia and other brotherly countries, which are helping the Syrian opposition, have decided to back the armed opposition and provide them with weapons.

He said Turkey also supports arming the opposition,
Definitely unwise. May Sultan Recep I the much beloved, known familiarly as Erdogan Bey, have all the joy of it that he deserves.
adding he expected a similar position from Gulf countries soon.

[ABCNEWS.GO] A citizen of Bangladesh who was living in Maryland has been charged with attempting to provide material support and resources to the Islamic State

A court document says that 24-year-old Nelash Mohammed Das of Hyattsville was ready to carry out what he thought was an attack on a member of the U.S. military when he was placed in durance vile
... anything you say can and will be used against you, whether you say it or not...
Friday. The supposed attack was set up by a confidential informant for the FBI.

Das, a legal permanent resident of the United States, made his first appearance in federal court Monday. He has been ordered held until a detention hearing Thursday. Online court records did not list an attorney for him, though a spokeswoman for the United States Attorney for the District of Maryland said Das had been assigned a public defender. An attempt by The News Agency that Dare Not be Named to reach the attorney Monday evening by phone for comment was unsuccessful.

If convicted, Das faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.

Das voiced support on his social media accounts for the Islamic State group from late 2015 to early 2016, including support for attacks in Gay Paree and San Bernardino, Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party,, and had taken a class and submitted fingerprints in order to get a handgun permit, according to court documents filed in his case. He told a confidential informant for the FBI that he wanted to kill U.S military personnel, the court documents say.

Conducting an attack is "like my goal in life," Das allegedly told the informant.

Das met the FBI's confidential informant in May 2016 and thought he was a like-minded supporter of the Islamic State group, the court documents say.

The confidential informant told Das he had gotten information about a target, member of the U.S. military, from an Islamic State group contact in Iraq. Das allegedly said he wanted to help carry out an attack on the person and bought ammunition for it. Das believed that the confidential informant's contact in Iraq would pay $80,000 in exchange for the attack, the court documents say.
A mercenary? Then he is merely a jackel of Islam, not a lion.
Das was arrested after loading a gun and traveling with the informant to a location where he believed they would conduct the attack, the court documents say.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Rooshuns deploy advance SAM system in Syria
The S-300VM is said to be able to defeat cruise as well as ballistic missile attacks. Not the same as the Buk S-400

As Richard Fernandez (Wretchard) has remarked, Obama/Kerry have been rolled and left in a ditch.

[FoxNews] Russia deployed a separate air defense system, the S-400, to Syria after a Russian jet was shot down by a Turkish warplane last November. Since the S-400 deployment, the U.S. military has been careful about flying manned aircraft inside the range of the system, despite repeated pledges by the US military that its airstrikes in Syria are focused on ISIS, not the Assad regime.

Monday, the Pentagon announced it conducted an airstrike potentially killing a “prominent” al-Qaeda linked operative in Syria. Officials said they were still assessing the strike and have not released the name of their target.

Hours after the State Department announced it was cutting off talks with Moscow, President Vladimir Putin said he had suspended a Russia-U.S. deal on the disposal of weapons-grade plutonium. Putin's decree released by the Kremlin cited Washington's "unfriendly actions."

Top US officials have recently accused Russia and the Syrian regime of indiscriminant bombing in Syria using incendiary and bunker busting bombs on civilians. Two weeks ago, a UN aid convoy was bombed, killing dozens of aid workers attempting to deliver critical supplies to the more than 200,000 Aleppo residents trapped inside the eastern portion of the city, once Syria’s most populated. In the past week, hundreds of civilians, including children, have been killed, according to local reports.

Russia began its air campaign in Syria on Sept. 30, 2015 following a weeks-long buildup of fighter jets and attack aircraft. Long-range bombers flying from Russia and Iran have also been used to attack Syrian rebels, some backed by the United States.

Days after Russian bombs started falling in Syria, President Obama predicted that Russia and Iran would find themselves mired in a “quagmire.”

“[A]n attempt by Russia and Iran to prop up Assad and try to pacify the population is just going to get them stuck in a quagmire. And it won’t work,” he told reporters in a White House press conference on Oct. 2, 2015.

On Friday, the one-year anniversary of the Russian strikes, the State Department acknowledged that Russia had succeeded in its goal of propping up the Assad regime.

“It is a grim anniversary…It is hard not to assess that they have succeeded in bolstering the regime,” said Mark Toner, a State Dept. spokesman.

India-Pakistan
Indian, Pak forces continue to exchange artillery fire
MUZAFFARABAD: Today, Indian forces once again resorted to unprovoked firing across the Line of Control (LoC) inside Pakistani territory, ISPR confirmed.

Indian forces violated the LoC in Iftikharabad late night and continued unprovoked firing from midnight until 4 am. Befitting response from Pakistan army silenced the Indian guns, said ISPR.

According to sources, Indian forces targeted villages, Natir Mandela and Madarpur in Battal sector. No loss of life or property has been reported so far.

Indian forces again started firing and mortar shelling across LoC for around 11:30 AM today in Nezapir sector of Azad Kashmir, reported Waqt News.

"Pakistani troops are befittingly responding to Indian unprovoked firing," ISPR stated

For the third time today the Indian forces fired across the LoC this time in the Kailer sector of Kashmir, triggering the response of Pak army who returned fire.

The exchanges take place hours after unknown militants attacked an Indian army camp In Baramullah town of Indian held Kashmir which reportedly resulted in the death of one Border Security force (BSF) soldier with others left injured.

India has violated the ceasefire agreement third time in three days, the Foreign Office said in a statement.

More from Dawn:
ISLAMABAD: Pakistani and Indian troops exchanged fresh fire across the Line of Control (LoC) in three separate incidents on Monday, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.

The exchange of firing occurred along the Line of Control in the Nezapir and Kailer sectors, and Iftikharabad, a town in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, ISPR reported.

According to the military's media wing, the first incident of firing took place around midnight in Iftikharabad, whereas the second incident was reported in Nezapir at 11:30am. A third ceasefire violation was reported in the afternoon in Kailer by ISPR.

"Pakistani troops are befittingly responding to Indian unprovoked firing," it added.

There were no reports of casualties on either sides.

Pakistani and Indian troops last exchanged fire in the Bhimber sector on Saturday, with no damage reported then either.

The fresh exchange comes hours after suspected militants attacked an Indian army camp in Baramulla town of Indian-held Kashmir, killing at least one trooper of the Border Security Force (BSF) and leaving another injured.

The Indian army camp that was attacked late Sunday in the garrison town of Baramulla is the local headquarters of a counterinsurgency military unit.

Senior local police official Imtiyaz Hussain Mir on Monday told media between two and four militants were involved in the attack, which also injured one trooper.

“There is a big civilian population around the camp because of which we could not go all out. Otherwise there would have been civilian casualties. They took advantage of the darkness and used civilian houses as a shield to escape,” he said.

Rising tensions
Earlier in September, in one of the worst episodes of cross-border firing along the LoC, at least two Pakistan Army soldiers were killed as Indian troops opened fire on the first line of defence.

India also claimed to have performed a "surgical strike" by crossing the disputed boundary. The Indian claims were rubbished by Pakistan Army.

It later emerged that an Indian soldier was captured by the Pakistan army, while Indian soldiers were also killed in the episode of firing across the LoC.

The latest incidents of cross-border firing came as tensions simmer between Pakistan and India over the Kashmir issue.

India this month initiated a diplomatic drive to isolate Pakistan after blaming it for the Sept 18 attack on the Uri army camp in IHK which killed 18 soldiers ─ a claim which Pakistan has rejected.

Temperature between the South Asian rivals has been high since an Indian crackdown on dissent in India-held Kashmir following the killing by Indian forces of Burhan Wani, a young separatist leader, in July.

Indian Army camp attacked in Kashmir
NEW DELHI - Suspected militants fired on a military camp in Indian-held Kashmir late Sunday killing one trooper, two weeks after a similar deadly attack that spiked tensions between arch rivals India and Pakistan.

One paramilitary officer was also injured during the firing by an unknown number of militants in Baramulla town, northwest of Srinagar.

“One BSF man has been killed and another injured,” senior police superintendent of Baramulla, Imtiyaz Hussain Mir, told AFP, referring to the Border Security Force (BSF).

Mir said the gunmen were not successful in breaching the perimeter of the camp, located inside the town.

The Indian army said on Twitter the “incident” had been brought under control and firing had stopped, without saying whether any suspected militants had been killed or captured.

“Terrorists opened fire on an army camp in Baramulla town,” Colonel Rajesh Kalia earlier told AFP.

Local media quoted residents as saying that loud gunfire could be heard coming from the camp.

The attack comes after India last week claimed it launched an attack across the Line of Control, prompting a furious response from Islamabad.

The move followed the deadly attack on one of India’s army bases in Held Kashmir, triggering a public outcry and demands for military action.

The September 18 raid on the Uri army base by militants hurling grenades left 18 Indian soldiers dead in the worst such attack in more than a decade.

Islamabad has dismissed last week’s talk of surgical strikes across the heavily militarised LoC as an “illusion” and said two of its soldiers had been killed in small arms fire.

According to Reuters, at least six militants attacked the Indian army camp.

The attack on the camp of India’s 46 Rastriya Rifles in Baramulla, which also houses a unit of the Border Security Force (BSF), started at around 10:30 pm and repeated exchanges of fire ensued.

Local reports that two attackers had been killed could not immediately be confirmed.

Also on Sunday, Indian Coast Guard officials claimed to have arrested the crew members of a Pakistani boat as soon as it entered the Indian waters around 10.15 am.

“In the prevailing scenario, Coast Guard ship Samudra Pavak apprehended a Pakistani boat with nine crew members,” an official statement said.

According to a Pakistani private TV channel, the Foreign Office has rejected Indian claim that they have impounded a boat and arrested its crew.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that India has never coveted any territory or attacked another country though it made sacrifices for the freedom of others.

“...It is neither hungry for land. But in the two World Wars (in which India had no direct stake), 150,000 lakh Indian soldiers had laid down their lives,” Modi said while speaking in New Delhi.

“In the last two years, you have seen how the government rescued people from conflict situations, not just Indians but foreigners too,” Modi said, apparently referring to his government’s rescue missions in trouble-torn West Asia.

Indian defence minister said Delhi was working to secure the release of a soldier held in Pakistan but it will take “some days”.

India says the soldier was captured Thursday after he “inadvertently” crossed over into the Pakistani side of the de facto border that divides Kashmir between the two nuclear-armed neighbours.

Manohar Parrikar said the capture did not relate to the Indian military’s attack. “He had crossed over, which happens in border areas. There is a well-established mechanism through DGMO (Director General of Military Operations) which has been activated,” the minister said, according to the Press Trust of India news agency.

“Since the situation is tense right now, it will take some days to bring the soldier back.”

India has evacuated thousands of people near the Pakistani border in Punjab state following the military raids on militant posts, which provoked furious charges of “naked aggression” from Pakistan.

Indian and Pakistani troops regularly exchange fire across the disputed border known as the Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir, but sending ground troops over the line is rare.

Home Front: Politix
I knew this first date was over when Donald Trump came up
[WashingtonPost] Dating is steeped in uncertainty.
After age 25, it should be.
Sure, he looks cute in his pictures and is witty with the text messages, but will we have any chemistry in person? Sure, that first date was good, but with his travel schedule and my work schedule, will we find time for a second? We have fun together, but are we compatible long-term?

And so on.

The vast majority of first dates end up in that abyss of ambivalence: nice person, but not much of a connection. Or nice person, bad timing. Or nice person, but do I like them enough to suffer through Metro delays or traffic to make this work? (Peruse The Washington Post Magazine’s Date Lab long enough and you’ll see what I mean.)
I'll pass
Which makes certainty — whether it’s positive or negative — quite special and rare. Certainty is the one thing that a good and bad date have in common.

For example, I went on a date recently, where I knew, after about 30 minutes of conversation, that I wasn’t interested. Being able to say, “Yeah, this isn’t going to work out” was nearly as satisfying as that amazing first date where I might say, “Let’s do this again” and really mean it.

So here’s what happened: I was on a first date with man who’s a Donald Trump supporter, a tidbit I did not know ahead of time. (Thanks, JSwipe.)

Most Trump supporters are men. So as a heterosexual woman, I’m more likely to end up on a date with one. As the editor of this blog about unmarried life, I’ve published a few columns from women in liberal cities who’ve been surprised to find themselves on dates with Trump supporters. But in the Washington area, which is quite liberal, I had yet to meet one, let alone end up on a date with one.

Normally, I don’t like to talk about politics on dates. I’m more concerned with getting to know the person sitting across from me than for whom they’re voting. So we started with some of the biographical stuff and pretty quickly realized that his brother is married to a wonderful woman with whom I’d studied abroad. (One point in the pro column.) He also seemed genuinely interested in my job, rather than intimidated by it. Some guys get skittish when I tell them that I write about dating. (Another pro.)

But those two things alone do not a match or connection make. Once he told me that he worked for a Republican on the Hill, I had to ask: Are you a Trump supporter?

Yes, he said. No caveats or equivocations. Just yes.
How... shocking.
I didn’t want to get into an argument. But I did want to gently ask about my date’s political allegiance, and how that might intersect or contradict with his Jewish identity. (About 20 percent of American Jews support Trump, so my date has company.) When I asked whether he had concerns about how Trump might handle the delicate politics of the U.S.-Israel relationship and the Middle East in general, he responded that Trump was on the same page with the Israelis on how to handle terrorism and security.

“Besides,” he said, leaning in so the bar patrons on either side of us wouldn’t hear, “he wants to get rid of the Muslims.”

His tone of voice and the look on his face said: You’re a Jew. I’m a Jew. Surely we agree on this, right?

I was stunned, though maybe I shouldn’t have been surprised. A large swath of Americans who are aligned with Trump want to ban Muslims, or at least keep a closer eye on them. But I am not one of them.
Then, I suggest you learn to walk with a permanent duck.
I felt certain that someone who’s aligned with Trump isn’t for me. This wasn’t a political mismatch, but one of deeply held values. So I had the distinct pleasure of telling him something I’ve never said while on a first date: “Yeah … this isn’t going to work out.”

So my “bad date” was pretty great in that I knew, with certainty, that after one date there wouldn’t be a second.
Thanks to Clarice Feldman, another Jewish writer whom I follow, who said in Facebook comments:

The WPo has a regular feature where they fix up dates for young people--they always are dimwits working for public interest groups and always are all in for the dems and they always never go out again on a second date.

I've been on dates like that.

I imagine that after reading the above, the gentleman in question is grateful to have escaped.

[ARA News] URFA – The Turkish Air Force struck several Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) strongholds on Monday. According to military sources, the air raids occurred in Kurdish-majority Şırnak Province, in south-east Turkey.

“At least eight PKK positions were bombed by our air force today,” the Turkish Central Command said in a statement, adding that dozens of PKK fighters were killed and injured.

Fighting also raged on the ground, throughout Monday. Intense clashes broke out between the Kurdish PKK insurgents and Turkish security forces in Hakkari Province.

The PKK initiated the clashes by bombing a Turkish security centre in the mountainous Hakkari countryside. In a separate attack, the PKK detonated a roadside bomb near Dağlıca village, killing at least two soldiers.

“More than 20 Turkish forces were killed in the clashes,” a PKK officer told ARA News, speaking on condition of anonymity. “We will continue the fight against the oppressive Turkish government until liberating the Kurdish region and ending decades of oppression on our people.”

U.S. Marines plan to modernize their smallest combat units
Marine Corps leaders are finalizing several important changes that will redefine the size, composition and capability of its smallest combat units.

The effort, according to Lt. Gen. Robert Walsh, commanding general of Marine Corps Combat Development Command, aims to equip deployed Marines with the latest battlefield technologies and, ultimately, enhance their lethality. Soon, the service's small squads and landing teams will receive tailored intelligence, cyber, and surveillance capabilities, assets typically reserved for much larger battalions and regiments. It's a necessity, Walsh told Marine Corps Times, for the types of adversaries they are likely to encounter over the next decade.

The service's commandant, Gen. Robert Neller, is expected to approve the changes by the end of September. Its details will be included in a new Marine Corps Operating Concept, a document governing how troops and units are trained, equipped and employed for years to come.

For the next 18 months, Marine Corps leaders will evaluate the work of a test unit, 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines, which was reconfigured and re-equipped ahead of its scheduled deployment throughout the Asia-Pacific region as part of the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit. The battalion, which is home based in California, is testing several new tactics and technologies. The work got underway in late July as part of a two-week experiment on the West Coast.

From that, evaluators concluded that company-size landing teams should be reinforced with more command-and-control capability, more unmanned aerial systems and robots with improved sensors and lasers. There needs to be more specialists and support to process, exploit, and disseminate all of this information, Walsh said.

This will likely require Marines take on additional training and qualifications, a model special operations forces have validated in the past. Walsh also is leaning toward the Marine Expeditionary Force being a “reservoir of capabilities” in which many skill sets are maintained in communications and intelligence battalions, or in a MEF information warfare group. That way, commanders can organize around tasks and tailor a force against specific threats in specific regions.

They want to call this beefed up infantry company an "expeditionary landing team."

Officials are concerned as well about the geographical distance between these landing teams and their higher headquarters. In the past, it was believed that 120 miles was sustainable, but Walsh says he's not confident that's doable in a "nonlinear" operating environment, where Marines are engaged in a high tempo campaign across the spectrum of warfare: land, air, cyber and electronic.

“They are not going to be able to operate as far out as we initially thought,” said the general, who also serves at the Marines' deputy combat for combat development and integration. An extended expeditionary landing team operation “would require significant enablers and support from the battalion.”

#4  Tailoring the fighting force to face the immediate threat, not the strategic one. For any significant event, the Battalion Landing Team (BLT) was designed to be the nucleus of the deployable force, with combined arms and sustainment capability for limited periods. To chop that up into 4-5 smaller forces, geographically disconnected, is nuts. It created a very unrealistic tail-to-tooth ratio which decreases the effective capability of the BLT sized units, which are further tailored to the deployment mechanisms of the MEF/Navy Task force. Somebody at the WH level is messing with the fundamentals of the USMC?

Rommel good choice to lead Canadian peacekeeping missions
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau wants Canada to get more involved in peacekeeping missions in certain African nations. So how do students at Ryerson University feel about having an experienced military man — like, perhaps, Hitler's General Erwin Rommel — heading up the campaign?

Russia suspends plutonium deal with U.S.
[WASHINGTONPOST] Citing "unfriendly actions" by the United States, the Kremlin announced Monday that Russia would suspend a landmark agreement to dispose of surplus weapons-grade plutonium, yet another sign of deteriorating relations between the two countries.

In a decree released by the Kremlin, President Vladimir Putin said Moscow would consider a resumption of the accord only if Washington agreed to several sweeping conditions. Among them: reducing the American military presence in NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A cautionary tale of cost-benefit analysis....
countries near Russia’s border, canceling all sanctions against Russia and compensating Moscow for losses resulting from those sanctions.

The largely symbolic move reversed an agreement once hailed as an example of successful U.S.-Russian cooperation, and comes at a low point in post-Cold War relations between Moscow and Washington. The State Department on Monday said it would suspend bilateral contacts with Russia over Syria, a week after Secretary of State John F. Kerry said the United States might do so because of Russia’s aerial assault on the Syrian city of Aleppo.

More from the UK Telegraph
Putin has scrapped a key nuclear control agreement over the "unfriendly" actions of the United States towards Russia.

In an extraordinary series of ultimatums issued on Monday, the Kremlin said it would suspend an agreement to turn weapons-grade plutonium into nuclear fuel unless Washington cancel all sanctions and slash its military commitment to Nato allies.

In a presidential decree published on Monday, Mr Putin froze The Plutonium Management and Disposition Agreement (PDMA) because of "a drastic change in circumstances, the appearance of a threat to strategic stability due to unfriendly actions of the United States toward Russia".

The document claimed that Washington was "unable" to meet its obligations under the terms of the agreement and that Moscow "must take urgent measures to defend Russian security".

A draft law later published on the site of the lower house of the Russian parliament said Russia would only reinstate the deal if the US drops all sanctions, pays compensation for the damage they have caused, and reduces its military infrastructure and man power in Nato countries that joined the alliance after 2000 to the same levels as when the deal was signed.

The Plutonium Management and Disposition Agreement (PMDA) was an arrangement for reprocessing weapons-grade material into fuel for nuclear reactors.

The deal, first negotiated by Mr Putin and Bill Clinton in 2000 and updated in 2010, committed both counties to disposing of at least 34 tons of weapons grade plutonium, enough to produce around 17,000 nuclear weapons.

The US State Department praised the deal at the time as an "essential step in the nuclear disarmament process."
Note that in the middle of the source article - Hillary has an ad stating Donald Trump is unfit to have his finger on the nuclear trigger. Didn't her husband sign off on this lost deal?

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Hezbollah's fate in Syria linked to Iran
[UPI] When Hezbollah engaged in the Syria war, it was in a battle for its own existence. The collapse of the regime of Syrian Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Trampler of Homs...
would result in Hezbollah losing a major ally that secured a much-needed supply route from its sponsor, Iran.

More than five years later, Assad is still in power due to Russia's direct military intervention in the war but Iran's influence in Syria -- like that of all the other regional players -- seems in decline, with Moscow and Washington emerging as the major actors.

A political settlement will be needed to end the war in Syria. Although it is premature to speculate how and when it will be implemented, the day will come for Hezbollah to pull its fighters back to Leb and this is a major concern.

"If Hezbollah, which awaits a dramatic change in Syria in its favor, thinks that it will have an influential role in [a] future Syria in a way it will benefit from to later have greater influence in Leb, it would be gravely mistaken," said Amin Kammourieh, a political analyst. "The maximum it can achieve is to have an ally or rather a non-hostile regime in Syria that could somehow protect it... but it won't be like it was in the past" when Syria had a free hand in Leb.

The heavily armed Shia Hezbollah is the most powerful group in Leb, with a strong military structure, well-established social institutions and representatives in the parliament and Cabinet. It has become a key power broker in Leb's political system, with its critics accusing it of controlling the country.

However,
we can't all be heroes. Somebody has to sit on the curb and applaud when they go by...
Hezbollah's formidable strength proved to be limited in Leb's delicate confessional system, made up of 18 religious sects, with many political and social agendas as well as regional affiliations. The group has failed to impose the election of its favorite candidate for president, Michel Aoun
...a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hizbullah...
, to formulate a new electoral law that would strip its Sunni rival of majority in parliament or to change the constitution.

"These are all signs of weakness and not strength. Hezbollah proved that it can obstruct but cannot impose," Kammourieh said.

Riad Tabbarah, a political analyst and head of the Beirut-based Centre for Development Studies and Projects research institute, said Leb is like the U.N. Security Council in which Hezbollah and other major political groups "have the veto power but not the power of decision."

"Although Hezbollah is the most powerful, it is not allowed to use its weapons in any internal civil war in Leb because billions of dollars were spent to acquire these weapons, including missiles, for the sake of confronting Israel and deter it from striking Iran," Tabbarah said.

Arabia
Local officials defuse 8 bombs in Al Mukalla totaling 1K lbs
Al Mukalla, Aden- The bomb disposal unit in Al Mukalla, south Yemen, defused eight explosive barrels, each weighing 65 kilograms and containing more than 520 kilograms of TNT explosives and C4.

The barrels were planted by al-Qaeda inside the wrecks of an old sunk ship six meters deep in the Arabian Sea. They were connected via wires, made especially for the purpose of bombing.

“If the terrorist members blew up these barrels, houses would have been totally destroyed as well as the fishing boats in the nearby port and the commercial ones not to mention the harm on fisheries and the coral reefs,” said Brigadier General Abu Salih al Yafei.

He described the operation as successful given that the unit specialized in disposing mines began defusing the explosives immediately after being notified. According to the brigadier general, the unit disposed each barrel separately before moving them to the sea, away from the city and the fishing boats.

Another military source in the Saudi Arabian Coalition stated that investigations with al-Qaeda members who were arrested and others who surrendered helped uncover the plot.

Short time has passed since liberating the city from al-Qaeda (end of April), yet Hadramout Elite Forces imposed security in the city and foiled several attempts to shake it. The authorities were able to restructure the police and activate the stations to enforce security and handle conflicts with the assistance of the judicial bodies.

The authorities worked on returning the state institutions to normal operation as well as the provision of basic needs to citizens. By setting up quick solutions, the authorities succeeded in enhancing water, electricity, health, roads and sanitary services in a way that alleviates citizens’ daily sufferings.
