WAPO Pre-Rebuts Trumps Sex Charges against Bill and Hill

Abe Lincoln and the USA's Future as a Banana Republic
I strongly reject the idea that there is some kind of moral obligation to abandon Trump.
A high status male who's not really monogamous - the horror!
...As Peter Ingemi, who refuses to let himself "be played" (thanks to Instapundit), puts it,
Right now a lot of people are forgetting that for good or I’ll the only thing standing between us and the financial, military, security, cultural and constitutional rights disaster that a Hillary Clinton administration would be is Donald Trump.

See also Ed Driscoll on the 1990s' "It's just sex", with Kathy Shaidle pointing out that
If ’it’s just sex!!!’ in 1995, then it’s ’just sex’ in 2005, and this year and every year forever. THEY made that rule. Make your enemy play by his rules -- remember your Alinsky.

#1  I feel compelled to repeat the money quote:

“From whence shall we expect the approach of danger? Shall some trans-Atlantic military giant step the earth and crush us at a blow? Never. All the armies of Europe and Asia … could not by force take a drink from the Ohio River or make a track on the Blue Ridge in the trial of a thousand years. No, if destruction be our lot we must ourselves be its author and finisher. As a nation of free men we will live forever or die by suicide.”

Superbug spread to Norwegian pigs from foreign farm workers
[UK's Bureau of Investigative Journalism] Pigs on Norwegian farms became infected with a superbug common in the Danish herd - despite Norway having a near total ban on live imports - through farm workers who had worked abroad, a study has found.

Researchers looked at three outbreaks of a livestock variant of MRSA (Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus) in Norwegian pigs and concluded they were very likely sparked by humans ‐ a transmission route that was previously unknown.

In two cases the bacterium was very similar to that found in Danish pigs and workers on the affected Norwegian farms had known contact with pig farms in Denmark. The third case also involved foreign farm workers, though it was not known whether the laborers had been in contact with livestock before entering Norway.

Norway has strict procedures in place to keep its herd disease-free and is now considering introducing mandatory screening of all farm workers before they enter pig farms. The approach is a marked contrast to that of the UK, which does not see Livestock Associated-MRSA (LA-MRSA) as a serious threat to animal or human health.

well, I assume inhalation for virus would be the dominant path

for bacteria, it could be from handling the animals where either the person or the animal or both have a cut or sore -- it could be when the person eats an undercooked animal -- it could be other paths

While People Flip Over Trump's "Grab 'Em by the P****," Video Surfaces of Bill Clinton Groping Woman

"The footage itself is really quick, but it's just a reminder that while Trump is under fire for saying lewd things, Bill Clinton has actually admitted to doing them: taking sexual advantage of an intern in The White House is but one case among dozens.

Trump, for example, has re-tweeted striking rape allegations made by Juanita Broaddrick. It seems that Hillary Clinton's campaign is not quite as vocal about those charges, however.

Hillary Clinton has also been called into question by a rape victim who claims that she was smeared by Clinton while she was a lawyer."

Mother Jones says Drudge Was Right about overhype of Hurricane
A Kevin Drum comment

Yesterday Matt Drudge warned us that NOAA was exaggerating the danger of Hurricane Matthew in order to hype the dangers of global warming. Liberals scoffed. But today, even the New York Times was forced to admit Drudge was right. Who's laughing now, libtards?

-------
In retrospect, NOAA and the NHC were correct about the storm surge in GA and SC and mostly correct about the torrential rain in GA, SC and NC but wrong about the winds.

#1  Actually you can't "overhype" a category 4 storm. It is lethal.

The nonsense is to blame global warming. The Caribbean always had these storms. The Mayas and Aztecs feared them for a reason. These storms sank Spanish silver fleets.

NOAA just did its job. And yes, as it seems, the storm could have done more damage (in the U.S.). It certainly did in Haiti.

Black Tenant Slams Neighbor's Noise Complaint As Racist ‘White Tears'
h/t Instapundit
In New York City’s Inwood neighborhood, a couple wrote their upstairs neighbor in their apartment building complaining about how he would "scream and stomp until almost 2 a.m."

The noisy neighbor, Richard Brookshire, issued a blistering response accusing his neighbors of racial aggression and calling their note a "direct threat".

"As a Black man, I take these overt actions as a direct threat to my physical and psychological well-being and as an act of violence upon me (see attached list of the 821 black men, women, and children killed by police or in police custody to date in 2016)," he wrote. "This threat cannot be taken lightly."

GOP voters want the party to stand by Trump
h/t Instapundit -
[Politico] A wave of Republican officials abandoned Donald Trump on Saturday, but, at least for now, rank-and-file Republicans are standing by the party's presidential candidate, according to a new POLITICO/Morning Consult poll conducted immediately after audio was unearthed Friday that had the GOP nominee crudely bragging about groping women and trying to lure a married woman into an affair.

Overall, fewer than four-in-10 voters -- 39 percent -- think Trump should end his presidential campaign, while only slightly more voters, 45 percent, think he should not drop out.
Anybody who ever happened to overhear girls' talk, knows we males are shy and modest creatures.

#1  ...As I see it (IMHO, YMMV), here's the choice the Party leadership has right now:

1. They can continue to support Trump and lose the election, blame it on the 'idiot voters' and start planning a comeback for 2020.
2. They can pull their support for Trump (he'll NEVER quit on his own, and Pence won't lead a coup) and lose the election - but in this case, the 'idiot voters' will pretty much give up on the GOP and it will pretty much never compete at the Presidential level again.

Monica Crowley: Donald Trump's secret weapon for Debate No. 2
Selected Excerpt: [Wash Times] On his past comments about women: "I see that you have to reach back 20 years to try to find something with which to attack me, and I understand it since you cannot run on your record. But this country has big problems -- which were created in large part by you, the current president and your party. I am here to offer the American people concrete solutions that will directly improve their lives and restore America to greatness.

"But if you'd like to discuss the treatment of women, I'm more than happy to talk about your husband's long record of rape and sexual assault, and your dogged efforts to smear and destroy the women who were involved with or accused your husband of such crimes."

Any of those rejoinders would have done the trick, but he chose a gentler path to show that he’s not Dr. Strangelove. Having accomplished that, he is now free to attack and inflame her without being penalized.

If Mrs. Clinton thinks the final two debates are going to resemble the first one, she may face a very unpleasant surprise.

America, You Have No Right to Judge Donald Trump
[PJ] The wizards of smarts in the political arena are telling us Donald Trump's campaign is over because of recently leaked tapes of a private conversation from 2005 that was disparaging to women. The comments are so offensive, they say, he's not fit for office.
At least no one died.
From the moment the tapes were made public, the drumbeat to Trump's personal walk of shame began. Politicians who formerly endorsed him fled in terror, not wanting the soiled stain of sexual stigma attached to them. NeverTrumpers descended in holier-than-thou glee as they declared how noble and right they've always been not to support such a despicable man. And the left has been howling like puritanical wolves, condemning him for his immorality and sexist treatment of women.

I find this reaction to Trump's private conversation rather ironic. It's ironic coming from a secular culture that long ago declared objective morality dead. It's ironic coming from politicos and media bottom-feeders who defended the abusive and disgusting behavior of Bill Clinton, not when he was a private citizen but when he was a sitting president.

If the moral price of political victory is supporting a Ted Kennedy or Bill Clinton then winning is losing in terms of governance. But some make that choice reasoning that's how things go. You accept certain side effects as the cost of doing business and hope they don't kill you.

The problem is one day you can't stomach it. 2016 may mark the moment whem everything the DC diner serves is finally too disgusting to eat.

Hungarian Intelligence Expert: Migration ‘Military Operation' to Destroy Nation States
[Breitbart] Former intelligence chief László Foldi has said that forces conspiring to open Europe's borders are using the tactics of "fourth generation warfare" to turn the continent multicultural.

Former Director of Operations at the Hungarian Intelligence Services Foldi says the media, so-called humanitarian organisations, and Brussels work together to undermine Europe's borders.

Speaking on Kossuth Radio, the intelligence expert says that following the country's referendum in which 98.5 per cent of voters rejected Brussels's plans for mandatory migrant quotas he expects to see a "serious attack" on Hungary from three directions.

"One of them will be a formal political attack from Brussels, another one an informal attack with the help of the mainstream media, which will be a significant portion of the Western media outlets, but also the local media which are financed from outside of Hungary."

The security expert says the third prong in the offensive is a "concrete attack" on the country's borders, in which "civilian organisations" mobilise migrants to the Hungarian border.

Mr. Foldi highlights how hundreds of migrants suddenly set off from Serbia to Hungary holding signs written in English and chanting demands for open borders following the referendum this week.

[DeutscheWelle] Two police officers were attacked with Molotov cocktails in their vehicles on La Grande Borne housing estate in Viry-Châtillon south of Paris on Saturday afternoon. Four police officers were injured with severe burns to their arms and hands in the attack by up to 40 people.

Prime Minister Manuel Valls said two officers "were violently attacked with incendiary devices while they were on a surveillance mission in the Grande Borne high security zone." Security cameras have been installed and surveillance has been stepped up in recent months to contain widespread illegal drug dealing in the area. There had been previous attempts to destroy the cameras in recent weeks.

"The team in the police car were responsible for monitoring a video camera near the traffic lights at Viry-Châtillon," police told Le Parisien newspaper. "Dozens of people attacked them with Molotov cocktails." The two police cars were then set on fire.

Backup was sent to the scene near traffic lights where a number of violent robberies have taken place. "Their colleagues who came to back them up were also targeted," Valls said. He described the attack as "extremely serious and very cowardly." The wounded officers were taken to hospitals in Paris.

During the evening police patrols armed with tear gas and shields were sent into the area. "We believe that it was organized and premeditated," Jean-Marc Falcone, director of the national police said of the attack. He declared he was "shocked."

IDF arrests two Palestinians transporting weapons in Bethlehem
[IsraelTimes] Security forces in West Bank capture man as he tries to move firearms, munitions through checkpoint

Israeli security forces on Saturday locked away
Keep yer hands where we can see 'em, if yez please!
a Paleostinian man caught transporting a stash of weapons that included three improvised firearms, two magazines, ammunition and bullets, the IDF said in a statement. The suspect was detained by Israel Police and IDF forces at a checkpoint near the West Bank city of Bethlehem. He was apparently trying to transfer the weaponry to a hiding place.

Earlier on Saturday, security forces arrested a Paleostinian suspect carrying a firearm in Bethlehem’s Dheisheh Refugee Camp, the army said.

The army and police are in the midst of a large campaign to crackdown on illegal arms manufacturing and weapons smuggling in the West Bank and Israel. According to the army statement, Israeli forces have uncovered and dismantled 32 Paleostinian weapon manufacturing workshops and seized over 350 firearms in the West Bank since the beginning of 2016.

IDF arrest raids in the West Bank are common and have stepped up slightly as military officials attempt to head off what they fear may be an uptick in violence during the fall holiday season, when tensions have been known to rise.

Iraqi Shiite Militia Fighters ‘Pouring Into’ Aleppo to Aid Assad
[Breitbart] The Wall Street Journal reported this week that Iraqi Shiite militia fighters are "pouring into Syria to reinforce the Assad regime’s siege of Aleppo, further complicating the tangled web of alliances the U.S. relies on to fight Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
, which can turn an ally on one side of the border into an enemy on the other."

This is very literally the case with the Shiite brigades, who have been working alongside U.S.-backed Iraqi government troops in that country but are now shooting at U.S.-backed rebels in Syria.

The WSJ estimates over a thousand Shiite fighters rolled into Iraq in September, joining some 4,000 who were already deployed around besieged Aleppo. In fact, the Shiites make up fully half of Assad’s ground forces in the area.

Assad, and most of the Syrian ruling elite, are members of the Alawite sect of Shia Islam, and Assad is strongly aligned with the dominant Shiite power, Iran. Syria is a Sunni-majority nation. Iraq is also beset by sectarian problems, including fears that Shiite militia groups are extending Iran’s unhealthy influence in the country. Of course, the previous Sunni-dominated government of Saddam Hussein is not remembered fondly by Iraqi Shiites, who comprise a slight majority of the national population.

The Wall Street Journal notes that Iraqi Shiite forces are fighting alongside Iranian Revolutionary Guards, Hezbollah militia from Leb, and even Afghan Shiite troops in Aleppo, filling in the manpower gaps created by Assad’s defeats and defections in earlier years of the Syrian civil war.

Iraqi Shiite militia commander Hashem al-Mosawwi is quoted by the Journal describing Sunni opposition groups in Iraq as "terrorists" who "cause all problems in the region and the world," and therefore "must be stopped."

The B.O. regime, unsurprisingly, had no official response to this description of its soon-to-be-massacred allies in Syria.

FSA offensive in Dara’a off to a disastrous start
    [ALMASDARNEWS] The Free Syrian Army
... the more palatable version of the Syrian insurgency, heavily influenced by the Moslem Brüderbund...
's Southern Front alliance launched a new offensive in the relatively calm Dara'a province aimed at recapturing the abandoned base, Abu Kaser checkpoints, Abu Madi Farms, Tawil Farms, Atisah Farms, and cutting the Dara'a-Damascus highway.

So far, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) was able to repel the attack on the abandoned base killing at least 10 Salafist tough guys including two high ranking military commanders known as Abdallah Qassem and Rustum Kanakri. The offensive would change from bad to worse when government troops destroyed a rebel tank and two technical vehicles while repelling the assault.

Rebels are very likely to abort this offensive after incurring heavy losses without any field advances whatsoever. The fronts in southern Syria have been very stale this past year as several jihadist offensives would utterly fail in securing any positive results for the disgruntled bully boys.

Those injured in the shelling include children and they were taken to hospital for treatment. There were no confirmed reports of any death casualties.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack, but Al-Qaeda-linked Shebab insurgents have carried out a string of similar bombings in the past.

Somali security forces cordoned off the scene around the sites which were hit by the mortar bombs, and launched an investigation into the incident.

    Evangelical leaders stand by Trump
[The Hill] Two prominent evangelical leaders are reiterating their support for Donald Trump after a new audio tape revealed the GOP presidential nominee making lewd comments about women.

Family Research Council head Tony Perkins told BuzzFeed News his support for Trump is about conservative policy stances, not personal values.

"My personal support for Donald Trump has never been based upon shared values, it is based upon shared concerns about issues such as: justices on the Supreme Court that ignore the constitution, America’s continued vulnerability to Islamic terrorists and the systematic attack on religious liberty that we’ve seen in the last 7 1/2 years," Perkins said.

And Faith and Freedom Coalition president Ralph Reed cited abortion, the economy and the Middle East as keys to his continued backing of Trump.

"Voters of faith are voting on issues like who will protect unborn life, defend religious freedom, create jobs, and oppose the Iran nuclear deal," said Reed.

"Ten-year-old tapes of private conversation with a television talk show host rank very low on their hierarchy of concerns," he added.
Low priority is dead on! Our concerns should be about what we've been through for the last eight years and what the next four to eight could potentially bring. Ungentlemanly, lewd and tawdry, yes. Criminal NO!

Nokia mobile phone save man’s life in Afghanistan by stopping bullet
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] An old Nokia mobile has saved a man’s life in Afghanistan after a stopping a bullet to penetrate the man’s body, it has been reported. The news and incredible images regarding the incident became viral after the former Nokai executive Peter Skillman shared it through his Twitter account, according to MailOnline.

"A Nokia phone I worked on a few years ago saved the life of a man in Afghanistan last week," Skillman said in a Twitter post.

No further reports are available regarding to explain exactly how the bullet came to be lodged in the phone. Some have claimed that the photo may not be entirely genuine, especially given Mr Skillman’s affiliation with the phone maker.

    However,
the difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits...
Gary Cutlack at Gizmodo, has said "There’s a chance it might not be a genuine thing and could be a stunt designed to boost Nokia sales in war-torn countries."

This is not the first report of a mobile phone stopping a bullet but a soldier’s life was saved when a flying shrapnel was stopped by his iPhone in Afghanistan in early 2014. Bangladesh
    A menace to society
[Dhaka Tribune] BCL has become a menace to society. And they must be reined in before things deteriorate further

Too many times, BCL members have been the root cause of violence at university campuses and elsewhere.

The hacking of Sylhet Government Women’s College student Khadiza Akhter Nargis, only 23 years old, at the hands of Badrul Alam, a BCL leader at Sylhet University of Science and Technology, is the latest among many such incidents.

Time and time again BCL members and leaders have wreaked havoc on otherwise peaceful university campuses, hurting countless innocents.

Khadiza now lies at death's door in a Dhaka hospital, desperately fighting for her life.

In July, Chittagong University was subjected to BCL’s brutality, leaving three injured, and hurting the university’s day-to-day activities, leading to class suspensions.

And in June, a BCL leader was killed during a spout of gunshot violence between aspiring members.

And who could forget the downtrodden image of Muhammad Zafar Iqbal last year after the student political organization’s members assaulted a group of teachers who had been demonstrating peacefully outside of the SUST campus?

The pattern here is clear: Bangladesh Chhatra League
... the student wing of the Bangla Awami League ...
has become a menace to society. And they must be reined in before things deteriorate further.

Chhatra League has been given enough chances to get their act together, and they have repeatedly flouted the law in the name of politics. An association with the political party in power does not an immune organization make.

No more blood should be spilled at the hands of these hooligans posing as student leaders. The government and the police need to rein in these thugs and make sure we have no more Khadizas struggling to stay alive.

This has to stop and it has to stop now.

ISIS attacks US proxies in Hasakah
[ARA News] HASAKAH – Militant fighters of the Islamic State (ISIS) launched on Sunday an offensive on headquarters of the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) south of Hasakah city, in northeastern Syria.

Military sources told ARA News that ISIS militants carried out a car bomb attack on an SDF security checkpoint near the Shaddari city in the southern countryside of Hasakah. The radical group has also hit SDF headquarters in Shaddadi with a number of mortar shells.

At least five fighters from the US-backed SDF forces were killed and two others were seriously injured due to ISIS attacks on Sunday.

In the meantime, heavy clashes took place between the SDF and ISIS in the Azzawi town in Shaddadi countryside.

“ISIS militants have been trying to infiltrate into Shaddadi and other areas in southern Hasakah, but our forces were able to repel the attack and forced ISIS to withdraw towards Deir ez-Zor after heavy clashes on Sunday,” an SDF spokesman told ARA News.

In mid-February 2016, Peoples’ Protection Units (YPG) and allied SDF fighters concluded a protracted campaign by liberating Shaddadi City in Hasakah province.

ISIS militants evacuated their headquarters in Shaddadi under heavy SDF bombardment. “More than 275 ISIS militants were killed and 33 ISIS vehicles were destroyed at the hands of the SDF fighters in the Battle for Shaddadi,” SDF spokesman Talal Silo told ARA News at the time.

During the offensive, SDF troops also seized control of the Jibisa Gas Facility, located 12 km east of Shaddadi City. ISIS had used the critical refinery to produce more than a million gas cylinders, which were then sold on the black market.

The SDF’s progress came after the SDF cut ISIS’ main supply route in al-Hawl, near Syria’s northeastern border with Iraq. This advance was supported by the U.S.-led coalition, who provided air cover.

Since the campaign concluded, ISIS has been trying to infiltrate into the area, launching mortar and car bomb attacks from bases in Deir ez-Zor Governorate.

Top Chechen Politician Tried to Beat Justice Official 'Into Resigning'
[THEMOSCOWTIMES] The Speaker of the Chechen Parliament, Magomed Daudov, has attacked a fellow politician in a bid to force him to resign, the Kavkaz.Realii news portal claimed Friday.

The official beat the Acting Chairman of the Chechen Supreme Court, Tahir Murdalov, and demanded that he resign "due to health reasons," the news outlet alleged, citing an unnamed source.

Daudov had arrived at Murdalov's office with 40 men on the evening of Oct. 6, Kavkaz.Realii reported.

Murdalov refused to resign despite the attack, the portal said.

Russian newspaper Novaya Gazeta also reported the attack, claiming that the Chairman of Chechnya's Gudermes Court, Alavdin Gardaloev, was also present.

A front man for the Chechen president, the press secretary of the Chechen Supreme Court, and the press service for the Chechen Interior Ministry all said they "had not previously heard of the incident," the RBC newspaper reported.

Tahir Murdalov took his post in May after the resignation of his predecessor, Magomed Karataev. A number of experts have since speculated that Karataev had been pressured to leave his position by the Chechen authorities.

Nigeria state bans pro-Iran Shia group
[AlAhram] A Nigerian state where festivities between the military and Shia Moslems led to over 300 deaths last year has banned the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), saying it was a security threat.

Two days of violence began on December 12, when supporters of the pro-Iranian holy man and IMN head, Ibrahim Zakzaky, refused to allow the chief of army staff's convoy to pass through the northern city of Zaria in Kaduna state.

In April, rights group Amnesia Amnesty International accused Nigeria's military of shooting dead more than 300 Shia Moslems, burying them in mass graves and destroying evidence of the crime. The Kaduna state government later confirmed the Amnesty report, saying that the army used "excessive force" and that those responsible for the killings should be prosecuted. But in a blurb issued late Friday, Kaduna state governor Nasir El-Rufai said IMN was a threat to Nigeria.

"The Kaduna state government has issued an order declaring the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) an unlawful society," a statement said.

It said the term applied to "any organization whose activities are dangerous to the security and good governance of the state."

The IMN said it would challenge the move. "We are not surprised by this decision of the Kaduna state government to ban the IMN," front man Ibrahim Musa told AFP.

"What do expect from someone that attacked you in your house, killed people in hundreds and demolished homes for no just reason?" Musa said. "We condemn this illegal decision in the strongest terms and we will challenge this decision through all legitimate means."

IMN leader Zakzaky, who lost an eye and was left partly paralysed in the violence, has been held in jug since December. He has previously been imprisoned for calling for an Iranian-style revolution to create an Islamic state in the country's north.

There have been fears the military action against the Shiite group in Zaria could trigger another violent uprising similar to that of Boko Haram

Paul Ryan heckled by Trump supporters as he should be
[Philly.com] ELKHORN, Wis. (AP) - House Speaker Paul Ryan was booed and heckled by Donald Trump supporters at a party unity rally in his congressional district Saturday, an event that the Republican nominee had originally planned to attend.

Ryan announced Friday that Trump was no longer welcome at the rally after a recording was released featuring the former reality TV star making vulgar comments about women. Trump's running mate Mike Pence was to fill in for Trump, but the Indiana governor canceled hours before the annual "Fall Fest" event began.

Defiant Trump supporters voiced their frustration at Ryan and other Republicans who spoke at the county fairgrounds in front of two large American flags, rows of pumpkins and stacks of straw. Ryan - who said Friday he was "sickened" by Trump's words - was heckled with shouts of "Shame on you!" and "You turned your backs on us!"

Nine aid workers killed in Somalia in 9 months: UN
Nine aid workers were killed in violence in Somalia between January and September, the UN Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said Friday.
Were any of them the third sons or daughters of European apparatchiks?
In its October bulletin, the OCHA says over 100 violent incidents resulted in the deaths. Eleven aid workers were injuried and three others were abducted during the nine months. The OCHA says the volatile security situation in Somalia continues to impact on civilian lives and create a challenging environment for the delivery of humanitarian assistance.

“Access constraints continue to impede humanitarian partners’ ability to reach people in need in a timely manner. Staff safety and security remain a major concern,” it says.

Al-Shabaab has been targeting humanitarian workers for political gain, sometimes demanding ransoms to free hostages.

In addition to security concerns, the OCHA says humanitarian groups continue to face administrative and bureaucratic impediments.

“These include demands for registration and involvement in staff recruitment processes among other activities. This has in certain cases threatened the operational independence of humanitarian partners,” it says.

Hence my comment about the apparatchiks. A young Euro man or woman can go work for the UN -- they get a salary, benefits, an expense account, a white Toyota Land Cruiser, and a houseboy or girl to suit their taste.

Or they can stay home in Europe, work on their second or third useless masters degree, and collect unemployment.

    It's an easy choice.

‘Huge disaster’ averted in Turkey as suspects blow themselves up
[IsraelTimes] Two men who apparently planned to carry out a massive car kaboom in Ankara detonate explosives

Two people suspected of planning a car kaboom on the Turkish capital Ankara on Saturday blew themselves up after being confronted by police, averting what the justice minister called a "huge disaster".

The suspects, who both died in the kaboom, were believed to be preparing an attack when they set off the explosives, the official Anadolu news agency said.

"A huge disaster has been prevented. It is probable they would have attacked Ankara.... All signs are pointing to the PKK terrorist organization," Justice Minister Bekir Bozdag told the CNN-Turk broadcaster.

The bombing comes two days before the first anniversary of The Sick Man of Europe Turkey

    group.

Ankara governor Ercan Topaca told news hounds at the scene it was "highly likely" that the suspects had connections to the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).

"The materials used, the construction and the way it was planned point to the PKK...." he said, quoted by Anadolu.

The governor said police swooped early on Saturday after a tip-off from Diyarbakir, a mainly Kurdish province in Turkey’s southeast.

No-one else was killed or injured in the blast understood to have taken place close to a black car in the town of Haymana, around 30 kilometers (18 miles) from Ankara, the governor’s office said in a statement.

The suspects were believed to have been hiding in a hut near a stud.

"The security forces launched the operation and warned (them) to surrender. A short while later (and) before any intervention, two forces of Evil confirmed to be a man and a woman detonated themselves," the statement added.

In televised comments, Topaca also said the suspects were a male born in the eastern province of Bingol and an unidentified female. She was later named in Turkish media.

He added that the authorities were looking for a third person adding that the jacket wallahs hung a Turkish flag on the car to avoid suspicion.

An ID card was also found at the scene, the statement said.

On Friday, the Kurdish group Kurdistan Freedom Falcons (TAK) with ties to the PKK grabbed credit for a cycle of violence bombing on Thursday near a cop shoppe in Istanbul which maimed 10 people.
    Al Ahram adds:
CNN-Turk broadcaster reported that 200 kilos (more than 400 pounds) of ammonium nitrate and plastic explosives were seized during the operation.

Islamic State launches first operation in Algeria
Because ISIS doesn't have enough on its plate right now...
The radical group of Islamic State (ISIS) announced on Saturday the start of its operations in Algeria.

In a statement published by the jihadi Amaq Agency, ISIS claimed responsibility for a bomb attack on an Algerian Army convoy in the Skikda Province.

ISIS militants detonated an explosive device at an army convoy near the Tamalous town in Skikda Province, in northeastern Algeria. It was not immediately clear whether the explosion caused any casualties.

The ISIS leadership vowed to continue its attacks in Algeria and threatened to extend its operations against government forces. In September 2014, a group of militants deserted al-Qaeda ranks and pledged allegiance to the Islamic State (ISIS).

According to reports, at least 200 ISIS militants are currently active in Algeria.

Burundi threatens to withdraw from international criminal court
But I think we all saw this coming...
Burundi will withdraw from the international criminal court, an official has said, months after the court said it would investigate violence sparked by President Pierre Nkurunziza’s re-election.

No country has ever withdrawn from the court, which pursues cases of genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity.

Burundi’s first vice-president, Gaston Sindimwo, said the government had presented a draft law in parliament to debate how it could withdraw. He accused the court of violating the rights of Africans.

Some African countries have threatened a withdrawal from the Rome statute, the treaty that created the ICC, accusing the court of disproportionately targeting the continent. Only Africans have been charged in the six cases that are ongoing or about to begin, though preliminary investigations have begun elsewhere.

Of the 122 countries that are parties to the Rome statute, 34 are African, the largest continental bloc.

Tom Maliti, of the New York-based International Justice Monitor, which tracks ICC cases, said: “This is posturing. All a member state country needs to do to leave is write to the UN secretary general saying they wish to withdraw from the ICC, and a year after the day the secretary general receives the letter, the country will no longer be a member.”

An ICC spokesman, Fadi El Abdallah, said the court had not received any official information about a possible withdrawal by any state. “Burundi is an important state party, and we look forward to Burundi continuing to be part of the ICC’s future,” El Abdallah said.

Hundreds of people have died in Burundi since Nkurunziza pursued and won a third term that many call unconstitutional. Since his candidacy was announced in April 2015, there have been violent protests, forced disappearances and assassinations. More than 260,000 people have fled the country. The ICC said in April it would investigate.

African threats to withdraw from ICC increased after the court indicted Kenya’s president, Uhuru Kenyatta, on charges of crimes against humanity for post-election violence in 2007 in which more than 1,000 people died. The ICC prosecutor later said a lack of cooperation by Kenya’s government had led to the case’s collapse.

Rebel artillery hit Kurd areas in Aleppo
ALEPPO – Islamist rebel groups launched on Saturday a renewed attack on the Kurdish district of Sheikh Maqsoud in Aleppo city, killing and wounding a number of civilians.

Local sources reported that fighters of the Islamic Movement of Ahrar al-Sham and allied groups shelled the Kurdish-populated Sheikh Maqsoud district with mortars.

“Seven civilians lost their lives, including three children, due to the mortar attack on Sheikh Maqsoud,” Dr Mihemed Hamke, director of a local hospital in the targeted area, told ARA News.

Dr Hamke added that more than a dozen civilians were injured in the bombardment on Saturday. “Some of them are in critical condition,” he said.

Ahrar al-Sham Movement, backed by the al-Qaeda splinter group of Jabhat Fateh al-Sham [previously known as Nusra Front], used their bases in the nearby neighbourhoods of Ain al-Tal and Baedin to bomb Sheikh Maqsoud district.

The Kurdish district of Sheikh Maqsoud has been under siege by Syrian Islamist rebels for years, and violence has recently intensified in the district as the Kurdish YPG forces have been trying to push back the Islamist groups.

Amnesty International has recently issued a report with regard to the developments in the Kurdish-populated district, saying: “Armed groups surrounding the Sheikh Maqsoud district of Aleppo city have repeatedly carried out indiscriminate attacks that have struck civilian homes, streets, markets and mosques, killing and injuring civilians and displaying a shameful disregard for human life.”

Speaking to ARA News, Luqman Ismail, one of the stranded citizens in Sheikh Maqsoud, said that electricity outage has continued for nearly three years because of repeated attack by Islamists on the main power network outside the district. “These groups are apparently punishing the people of Sheikh Maqsoud for their support to the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG), who have been engaged in fighting with radical Islamists around the city of Aleppo,” he said in an earlier interview.

Al-Bunyan Al-Marsoos forces uncover underground tunnels; disconnect ISIS-controlled areas in Sirte
[Libya Observer] al-Bunyan al-Marsoos forces managed on Friday to separate the last ISIS-controlled areas in Sirte, a spokesperson has declared.

Brigadier Mohammed al-Gosri said the Misrata-led forces took control of the dividing line between neighbourhood 600 and sea-view Jiza apartment buildings, describing it a heroic act.

The control of the dividing line will disconnect ISIS bully boyz in both areas from each other and cut aid routes to the radical group.

"This will make it easier to eliminate ISIS remnants more than ever," al-Gosri noted, expecting the final battle would take place within the next hours.

He said their forces have discovered secrete underground tunnels that were used by ISIS bully boyz to move within their besieged areas in the city.

Al-Gosri also revealed that the Italian field hospital is going to open in the next few days to treat their maimed fighters.

    Arabia
Saudi-led coalition airstrike hit Yemen funeral
An airstrike by a Saudi-led coalition on Saturday targeted a funeral hall filled with mourners in Yemen’s capital, Sanaa, killing at least 82 people and turning the site into a “lake of blood,” according to officials. They said at least another 100 have been wounded in the strike.

The dead and wounded include senior military and security officials from the ranks of the Shia Houthi rebels fighting the internationally recognised government of president Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi as well as their allies, loyalists of former president Ali Abdullah Saleh.

In the aftermath of the strike, hundreds of body parts were found strewn in and outside the hall. Rescuers collected them in sacks.

“The place has been turned into a lake of blood,” said one rescuer, Murad Tawfiq.

Ambulances rushed to the site to ferry the wounded to hospitals. In radio broadcasts, the health ministry summoned off-duty doctors and called on residents to donate blood. Rescuers, meanwhile, sifted through the rubble in search of more casualties but a fire hindered their efforts.

The funeral was for Ali al-Rawishan, the father of the interior minister Galal al-Rawishan, an ally of both the Houthi movement and their chief ally Saleh.

Witnesses and medics said a missile hit the hall in the south of the capital, destroying the building. They described ambulances ferrying casualties from the scene, where a plume of black smoke rose into the sky.

The Houthi-controlled news site sabanews.net said: “Dozens of citizens fell as martyrs or were wounded in this attack by planes of the Saudi-American aggression.”

There was no immediate comment from the Saudi-led coalition.

2 al-Qaeda operatives detained in Lahore
LAHORE: Police on Saturday arrested two suspected Al Qaeda operatives in Sargodha who were allegedly planning attacks during Muharram processions, said police officials.

Security officials also claimed that the two had trained in Afghanistan.

Law enforcement officials recovered a large cache of arms and ammunition, which included five hand grenades, 37 RPG rounds, suicide vests, seven Kalashnikov assault rifles, and 695 bullets.

"Police has been carrying out raids in various areas of Punjab on the directives of Punjab Inspector-General Mushtaq Ahmed Sukhera to ensure security for the mourners," said Sargodha Regional Police Officer Zulfiqar Hameed.

The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of Sindh Police arrested nine suspected terrorists from Karachi on Friday and recovered bombs, suicide jackets, hand grenades and 30 bore pistols from their possession.

After receiving details regarding the planned activities of terrorist outfits in the city during Muharram, a team headed by CTD head Raja Umer Khattab was set up, a press release by CTD stated.

The team discovered that suspected terrorists and alleged members of Al Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS) and Lashkar-i-Jhangvi (LJ) were planning on employing suicide jackets, hand grenades, bombs and carrying out target killings in Karachi, the CTD said.

Anti-India clashes erupt in Srinagar after boy's killing
[DAWN] Indian forces fired shotgun pellets and tear gas Saturday as thousands carried the body of a young boy killed overnight during an anti-India protest in Srinagar

Chanting slogans "Go India, go back" and "We want freedom", thousands of residents marched to the main Martyr's Graveyard in Srinagar for the burial of the 12-year-old boy.

The boy was critically injured on Friday evening after he was hit by shotgun pellets all over his body and died at a hospital early Saturday.

Residents said the young student was hit inside his home compound, some 30 feet from festivities between protesters and government forces. Police say he was part of the festivities.

Police and paramilitary soldiers fired warning shots, pellets and tear gas, fearing the procession could become a larger rally seeking an end of Indian rule in the disputed Himalayan region, said a police officer, speaking on condition of anonymity
... for fear of being murdered...
    in keeping with department policy.

Clashes broke out as hundreds of young men hurled rocks at the troops while another group of mourners changed route to bury the dead.

On Friday, at least 50 people were maimed during dozens of festivities as tens of thousands of Kashmiris protested against Indian rule.

    China-Japan-Koreas
400,000 N.Korean Soldiers Forced to Labor for 10 Years
North Korea is forcing an estimate 400,000 young soldiers to do hard labor and confiscating up to US$900 million from ordinary people every year, an activist group here said Wednesday.
It all counts toward twenty, as we used to say (retirement).
Toward twenty what? I'm not familiar with that saying.
The International Coalition to Stop Crimes Against Humanity in North Korea, in a report based on in-depth interviews with 18 defectors, said middle school graduates who either have no connections in the Workers Party or perform poorly in physical tests are forced into hard labor at construction sites while training as commandos. They must live in cramped shared accommodation and labor for around 10 years building roads, apartments, railways and power plants.

They spend around 10 years in service, laboring four hours in the morning and five in the afternoon for little or no pay. When pressed to meet deadlines, they labor until midnight and spend their breaks in indoctrination classes. They are fed just one bowl of corn rice per meal, and beatings and accidents are rampant.

The report said North Korean officials demand cash bribes for letting people keep their jobs, while housewives and students are forced to cough up money by collecting and selling paper or animal feces that are used as fertilizer.

The group said the money North Korean officials extort amounts to around 20 percent of monthly living costs.

    -Lurid Crime Tales-
Is The FBI Now An Arm Of The Democratic Party?
[INVESTORS] Justice: The FBI once was known as incorruptible, a legendary enforcer of American law that fought traitors, spies, organized crime and government corruption with equal fervor and fearlessness. Recent revelations about the FBI's moves during its investigation of Hillary Clinton
... sometimes described as America's Blond Eminence and at other times as Mrs. Bill, never as Another John C. Calhoun ...
's rogue email server suggest that that FBI no longer exists.

Of particular relevance are the so-called side agreements signed by the FBI with high-level Clinton aides Cheryl Mills and Heather Samuelson as part of the investigation. It's important to note that both of these aides were in the thick of things in Hillaryland, and surely knew much about Clinton's likely illegal use of a private server and her exposure of U.S. secrets.

Those side deals essentially tied the hands of the bureau in its investigation. And that was the FBI Director James Comey's intent all along -- to keep from having to do what it knew should be done, and that is indict Hillary Clinton for repeated "careless" violations of national security law, and for subsequently lying about them to the FBI and Congress.

A letter from House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte, R-Va., to Attorney General Loretta Lynch was summed up as follows by Andrew C. McCarthy, a former U.S. attorney and now a columnist for the National Review: "Pursuant to these side agreements, it was stipulated that (a) the FBI would not scrutinize any documents dated after January 31, 2015 (i.e., about five weeks before the most disturbing actions suggestive of obstruction of justice occurred); and (b) the FBI -- in an investigation critically involving destruction of documents -- would destroy the computers after conducting its search."

Let that sink in for just a moment. This sounds not like an investigation but a carefully choreographed cover-up.
'Carefully choreographed is it?' Same could be said for gay synchronized swimming I suppose.
If so, this will surely do long-term and perhaps irreversible damage to the FBI's reputation for evenhandedness. Worse, it looks a lot like the FBI is now being directed by Democratic politicians outside the bureau -- a frightening prospect in a nation that is built on the idea of equal application of the law to all citizens. If the director of the FBI can be suborned by political leftists, what does that say about the rest of our government?

For those who say forget it, this is old news -- it isn't. Just this week, the Washington Examiner reports, a new bunch of emails have been handed over showing high levels of complicity between Hillary Clinton's State Department office and the Clinton Family Foundation.

"The trove of roughly 200 pages of records made public Wednesday was just the latest and most convincing indication that, rather than operate as an independent organization, the Clinton Foundation leaned heavily on the State Department (while Hillary was secretary of state) to expand its global reach," the Examiner wrote.

So the FBI's cover-up, far from being a trifling favor paid to a political patron, turns out to be part of a much bigger cover-up of the numerous corrupt linkages between the State Department and the Clinton Foundation. If so, this is criminality on a massive scale, dwarfing even Watergate.

#1  I think the FBI has made it abundantly clear that there TWO kinds of Law in the USA, one for the Elite and one for the Peasants.

And the Democratic party seems to have the ability to use the IRS to harass people it doesn't like who are TOO Conservative. And the Democratic party seems to be able to
enforce discrimination of Conservative values using US govt. institutions to do it.

We don't have a sovereign BORDER anymore. There are ( some estimate ) 43 MILLION illegal now living here in the US and even tho' they are illegal they claim as their right...Welfare and the rights of Citizens which they do not deserve and to which they are NOT entitled..at the Expense of Americans.

It is OBVIOUS that the US Govt. is CORRUPT and does not work, especially to serve the needs of LEGAL citizens.

People are buying guns in record numbers. More and more of the Police are being shot trying to keep Order. The Media is BIASED and can't be trusted. There are tens of millions of American without jobs.

Moslems are being imported and forcibly settled in American towns. The American people are not being asked, they are being told.

You figure it out. It is only a matter of a single spark and it all explodes. The trucks stop delivering food to the local supermarkets and the hungry inner city floods out to the Suburbs and then the Farms ( what farms ). And if you are hungry and armed.....
can't ever happen, right? How much ammunition have you got stored, better buy another box or two.

But then, I could be wrong, maybe its all Mayberry and let's go fishing with Cooter.

    -War on Police-
Two Palm Springs officers shot dead
[SouthAfricaToday] Two Palm Springs police officers trying to resolve a family dispute were shot to death Saturday when a man they had been speaking calmly with suddenly pulled out a gun and opened fire on them, the city’s police chief told reporters.

A third officer was wounded. The shooter was not immediately apprehended.

“It was a simple family disturbance and he elected to open fire on a few of the guardians of the city,” police Chief Bryan Reyes, his voice breaking, told reporters.

The chief, near tears, identified the slain officers as Jose “Gil” Gilbert Vega and Lesley Zerebny.

Police said Zerebny recently returned to the force from maternity leave after giving birth to a now-4-month-old daughter. Vega, the father of eight, was a 35-year veteran who planned to retire in December. The wounded officer’s name was not released.

Reyes said the three officers were standing near the front door speaking with the man, “trying to negotiate with the suspect to just comply,” when he suddenly shot them.

He said the shooter was not apprehended and may still be in the house. He said Riverside County sheriff’s SWAT officers had the residence surrounded and were now leading the investigation.

Reyes also urged the media and others not to stream live video of police officers’ movements on social media, adding it could put them in danger.

“Understand that we’re actively looking for a cop murderer,” he said.

Dozens of law enforcement officers converged on the normally quiet residential neighborhood in this desert resort city after the shooting. They sealed off several blocks and evacuated some residents.

Police Sgt. William Hutchinson said officers were warning people already inside their homes to stay there, lock their doors and not answer them until further notice.

Although Reyes didn’t identify the shooting suspect, he indicated police had had previous dealings with him.

A neighbor, Frances Serrano, told The Associated Press she called authorities after the father of the shooting suspect came to her house across the street and told her his son was “acting crazy.”

“He said his wife left because she was so scared of him,” Serrano said, adding the father warned that his son threatened to shoot police if they arrived.

She’d gone back inside her home before officers arrived, Serrano said, and a few minutes after they got there she heard gunfire. Moments later officers were knocking on her door, warning her to stay inside.

Serrano said the man police are looking for had been in jail at one time and had to wear a monitor on his ankle when he was first released. But she added that he had always been friendly and polite to her and her family.

“We never had any problems with him,” she said.

8 PKK terrorists killed in Turkey's southeast
Eight PKK terrorists were killed Saturday in Turkey’s southeastern province of Hakkari, the military said, Anadolu reported. In a statement, the Turkish General Staff said they were “neutralized” in Cukurca, a mountainous district on the Iraqi border.

Hakkari, which borders both Iraq and Iran, has seen a number of anti-terror operations since the PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and EU -- resumed its 30-year armed campaign in July last year. The PKK maintains bases in northern Iraq.

Since the resumption of the conflict, PKK terror organization martyred more than 600 security personnel and claimed lives of many civilians including women and children while around 7,000 terrorists were killed in army operations.

    Bangladesh
Who is the IS ameer in Bangladesh?
[Dhaka Tribune] Dead people usually do not speak from their graves. When they do, we should try to listen very carefully. That is why we need to decipher the latest Bangla video and the article on Bangladesh published by the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
The video features the martyrdom statements of the five Gulshan attackers, while the article was ostensibly written by Abu Dujanah al-Bengali (real name Tamim Ahmed Chowdhury) ‐ infamous dead people speaking from their graves warning and threatening about the next major IS attack.

What the video (released on September 23, via Arabic Nashir) and the article (published on October 4, in Rumiyah magazine) have in common is the ominous promise of continual attacks against the "kuffar" (disbelievers), "murtadin" (apostates), "taghut" (proponents of the secular state) and "crusaders" (foreigners) in Bangladesh. According to an infographics, published earlier in Naba magazine and now republished in Rumiyah, ISIS itself estimates that 42% of the victims of its attacks in Bangladesh are Hindus and Buddhists; 27% are Christians; 19% are apostates and atheists; 12% are Shia Moslems.

There is also the hint that attacks will now be reoriented more against foreigners. As Tamim Chowdhury put it in his article in Rumiyah: "Let the Crusader nations know that as long as they fight the Islamic State, their citizens will not be able to enjoy any peace and safety in any part of Bengal."

But now that Tamim aka Abu Dujanah (former head of military and covert operations of the soldiers of the Khilafah in Bengal, as mentioned in Rumiyah) is dead (killed by the security forces in Narayanganj on August 27), who is in charge of coordinating the next series of attacks?

This is where we once again turn to Abu Ibrahim al-Hanif (pseudonym), the elusive ameer of IS in Bangladesh. Abu Ibrahim is the person who, in an interview published in the 14th issue of IS’ Dabiq magazine, gave an account of what ISIS aims to achieve in the "land of Bengal." He is the person who is still in charge -- the man behind the curtain, plotting the next act in the spectacle of brutality.

If the security czars in Bangladesh are serious about uprooting IS (Neo-JMB or New JMB, as identified by the police) and stopping the planned slaughter of religious minorities and foreigners, they must now focus on this man and try to reveal his real identity. The rumour that Tamim Chowdhury was Abu Ibrahim was started by a Bangladeshi journalist too close to the spooks, and later recycled without question by other journalists, researchers and officials.

This was despite the fact that Bangladeshi officials knew Tamim’s actual kunya, (jihadi nom de guerre) that he was not Abu Ibrahim al-Hanif but Abu Dujanah al-Bengali. As Sanwar Hossain of DMP’s counter-terrorism unit recently told the New York Times
...which still proudly displays Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize...
: "We have known for a while that this is how Tamim was referred to."

In his Rumiyah article, Tamim Chowdhury quite possibly gave a hint about the timing of the next major attack by quoting a verse from the Qur’an (9:5): "And when the sacred months have passed, then kill the mushrikin wherever you find them and capture them and besiege them and sit in wait for them at every place of ambush."

In 2016, Islamic sacred months will be over by the end of October. Is IS planning to strike again after that? Abu Ibrahim al-Hanif could have given us a clear answer. And, that is why he needs to be identified, fast.

Kunduz Residents Desperate As Battles Continue
Kunduz residents on Saturday criticized government's security strategy for their city, saying the security institutions have failed to safeguard the province.

Reports from the frontlines and the outskirts of Kunduz indicate that thousands of people are dealing with severe food shortages after a week of ongoing battles between the Taliban and security forces.

"We took our children and escaped with only our clothes and left our whole property behind," said an elderly woman from Kunduz.

"Taliban kill anyone who has worked with the security forces or local police force," said another resident.

"May Allah help us, we have no one, may Allah show mercy on this nation," said another resident.‎

‎"So far we have not managed to get the bodies of our countrymen who were brutally killed, the situation is quite sensitive," an Afghan solder said.

Meanwhile, displaced families who have escaped the city and sought refuge in Kabul and Badakhshan also complain about the lack of facilities and daily needs.

(IraqiNews.com) Kirkuk – Prshmerga forces in Kirkuk Province announced on Saturday, that dozens of the ISIS members were either killed or wounded in an artillery shelling, in southern Kirkuk.

Commander of the Peshmerga’s 9th brigade, Brigadier Aras Mohamad, said in a press statement, “This morning, Peshmerga forces shelled a gathering of the ISIS members in Hassan Shallal village, west of Daquq district, killing and wounding dozens of the ISIS members.”

“Our forces conducted the artillery shelling after receiving information that one of the ISIS senior leaders will visit the village to attend the group’s meeting with the rest of the ISIS members,” Mohamed added.

Kirkuk is witnessing a surge of violence, after the ISIS members imposed their control over areas in Hawija district, Riyad, Abbasi and al-Zab, after capturing Mosul, the center of Nineveh Province.

Russia vetoes UN resolution to stop bombing of Aleppo
Russia vetoed a UN resolution aimed at stopping the bombing of Aleppo on Saturday, prolonging the division and paralysis of the security council in the face of the Syria’s humanitarian disaster.

The Russian ambassador to the UN, Vitaly Churkin, currently presiding over the security council, cast the veto against a Franco-Spanish resolution that had demanded an end to all aerial bombardment and overflights of Aleppo by Russian and Syrian regime aircraft. The resolution also called for a resumed ceasefire and the delivery of humanitarian supplies to besieged population.

China abstained, further isolating Russia on the issue, along with Angola. Venezuela was the only other country to vote with Russia against the resolution.

A Russian counter-resolution, which omitted mention of aerial bombardment, was voted down with nine votes against and four in favour.

The bitter divisions in the council, which faces a high and rapidly rising death toll in eastern Aleppo, produced a heated but fruitless debate that saw some of the normal diplomatic niceties abandoned.

“Normally I begin my statement with, ‘Thank you Mr President’,” Matthew Rycroft, the UK ambassador to the UN, said at the start of his remarks. “I cannot do this today.”

“This council cannot stand by while such misery is meted out on the people of Aleppo. And yet, thanks to you, Mr President, that is exactly what we are doing,” Rycroft told the council. “Thanks to your actions today, Syrians will continue to lose their lives in Aleppo and beyond to Russian and Syrian bombing. Please stop now.”
What are you going to do about it?
The US deputy ambassador, David Pressman, said: “One of us, perversely the president of council, is determined for the killing to continue, and is helping carry it out.”

There are about 275,000 people trapped by the siege of eastern Aleppo, where civilians are suffering through daily bombing, including by bunker-buster and incendiary weapons, and through starvation, as limited supplies run out and aid convoys are blocked from the city. John Kerry, the US secretary of state, on Friday called for a war crimes investigation of the Russian and Syrian regime bombing.

The Russian foreign ministry said the Franco-Spanish resolution “distorted” the real situation in Syria, and that a ban on aerial bombardment would “provide cover to terrorists from Jabhat al-Nusra” and allied militants.

According to diplomats, the UN envoy on Syria, Staffan de Mistura, told the security council that the presence of roughly 1,000 Nusra fighters was being used as a pretext for the bombing of 275,000 people and had offered to personally escort the militant group out of the city to guarantee their safe passage.

At the present rate of bombardment of eastern Aleppo, De Mistura said the city would be totally destroyed by December. The UN secretary general, Ban Ki-moon, called it “worse than a slaughterhouse”.

“Russia has once again abused its veto privilege and sabotaged the UN security council, this time stonewalling efforts to stop the vicious assault on east Aleppo’s civilians,” said Louis Charbonneau, UN director at Human Rights Watch.

“Today’s vote is a stark reminder of the urgent need for permanent members of the security council to shelve the veto in situations of mass atrocities, an idea supported by a vast majority of countries around the world. The ball is now in the court of the UN general assembly, which should feel compelled to hold an emergency meeting, demand an end to unlawful attacks on civilians in Aleppo, 100,000 of whom are children, and explore avenues for accountability.”

Top Yemeni army commander dies near Sanaa
Yemen’s army has announced the death of its most senior commander to be killed this year in the country’s ongoing civil war.

In a statement late on Friday, it said Maj-Gen. Abdul-Rab al-Shadadi was killed while leading an offensive against the Iranian-backed Shiite rebels known as the Houthis east of the capital Sanaa. Three militia commanders fighting alongside the army of the internationally-recognized government were also killed.

It says all four were killed when a missile fired by the Houthis struck their position on Friday.

Berlin on high alert with suspected bomber on the loose
[IsraelTimes] Security boosted at capital’s airports and train stations; officials say Syrian national Jaber Albakr could have Islamic State links
Deutsche Welle has a grainy photo of the miscreant here.
German police were carrying out a huge manhunt Saturday for a 22-year-old Syrian suspected of planning a kaboom, after finding "highly explosive" materials in his apartment.

Security has been boosted at Berlin’s two airports and at train stations in the capital.

The suspect, Jaber Albakr, could have had "an Islamist motive," police sources told AFP. German news agency DPA, citing security sources, reported that Albakr had links to the Islamic State (IS) group.

Police said "several hundred grams" of an "explosive substance even more dangerous than TNT"
...sounds like TATP, a.k.a. Mother of Satan, the explosive you can mix up in the bathtub of your mother...
were found in Albakr’s apartment in the eastern city of Chemnitz, about 260 kilometers south of Berlin.

"Even a small quantity of this substance could have caused enormous damage," police said.

Three people with links to Albakr, who arrived in Germany last year as a refugee, have been incarcerated
... anything you say can and will be used against you, whether you say it or not...
    in Chemnitz.

Heavily-armed officers, some wearing balaclavas, carried out a vast operation in the neighborhood where Albakr had been living.

Around 100 local residents were evacuated from the area, and a loud kaboom was heard in the leafy suburb as police forced their way into the apartment with an entry device.

    Under surveillance
In Chemnitz, part of the city’s main station was sealed off by officers as a remote-controlled robot was deployed to inspect a suspect package on a platform which turned out to be harmless.

Police destroyed the explosives found in the apartment in specially-dug holes on land nearby.

Albakr had been under surveillance for some time, with the magazine Focus reporting that he was suspected of plotting to attack an airport.

Two of his associates were arrested close to Chemnitz’s railway station while a third was taken into custody in the city centre. A package belonging to one of those arrested was undergoing analysis, police added.

"They were known to the suspect we are looking for and were arrested and detained," said Bernhardt, who added that the trio were being questioned.

Albakr was living in a neighborhood of Chemnitz whose communist-era housing estates are home to many recently arrived refugees.

Police in the state of Saxony, where the city is located, issued a search warrant for Albakr after officers received information from domestic intelligence services, a police front man said, saying he was born in Syria in January 1994.

They added that Albakr was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and was "suspected of preparing a kaboom."

"At present we do not know where (the suspect) is or what he is carrying," police said on Twitter, urging residents to be cautious.

German police said previously they had identified 523 people who posed a security threat to the country, around half of whom were known to be currently in Germany.

    Israel-Palestine-Jordan
The game with Hamas has changed
[Ynet] Analysis: Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth", high value targets were hit following the rocket attack on the southern Israeli town of Sderot on Wednesday; hit with heavy, precision munitions, these attacks represent a change in IDF policy--immediately hit Hamas hard and fast after any rocket attack.

When the IDF hit high value targets in the Gazoo Strip following a rocket attack on Sderot Wednesday, Israel was continuing its strategic policy as laid out by new Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman--hit Hamas targets along the border with tanks as quickly as possible after a rocket attack (sometimes less than a minute later), while managing to bomb quality Hamas targets from the air within hours.

This is different than the former policy, where by the IDF would wait until nightfall to carry out its retaliatory attack, causing little damage. Even then, most of the attacks were on missile launch sites, sites which were dismantled anyway by the time the jets came to hit them.

By contrast, on Wednesday the Israeli Air Force hit Hamas targets with heavy bombs all throughout the afternoon. The Arclight airstrikes were exact, surgical, massive, and destroyed Hamas offensive strategic capabilities--capabilities that Hamas has been preparing since the end of the last war in preparation for the next one.

The IDF is currently evaluating the results of Wednesday's attacks on Gazoo. The air force hit targets including warehouses used for storing weapons equipment stores used by Hamas naval commandos.

These targets were identified months ago through the joint efforts of the Shin Bet and Israeli Military Intelligence. Destruction of these targets was enabled as a result of the "window of opportunity" provided by the rocket launch from Gazoo, and due to the IDF's newer, harsher policies regarding keeping Hamas from building up its offensive attack capabilities.

According to Israeli security assessments, Hamas is not interested in an escalation of violence, as it is fighting against the Salafi Jihadist organizations in the Strip, which are trying to undermine Hamas's power.

Israel is also uninterested in an escalation, despite the large scale of recent attacks. In fact, Israel wants to mitigate any chance of an escalation, especially in light of the High Holy Days, during which huge numbers of Israelis travel to the south of the country.

As such, it seems that the IDF isn’t focusing its military efforts on small terror cells that launch rockets of their own accord, thereby leaving these terror cells more or less intact. This despite the fact that Sderot has been hit four times since the end of Operation Protective Edge.

    However,
it's easy to be generous with someone else's money...
according to IDF Chief of Staff Gadi Eisenkot, the IDF's number one target is uncovering and destroying the Hamas "terror tunnels" that cross into Israel. Hamas allocates the majority of its budget to the construction of these tunnels. IDF efforts to mitigate the threat posed by them can be seen with new technology currently being developed and used to locate these tunnels, along with the continuing efforts of Israeli intelligence to locate and destroy these underground threats.

All this notwithstanding, though, the IDF's new method of hitting high quality Hamas targets in real time may bring about a new threat: namely, that the Hamas military wing might start a new war sooner rather than later.

Pak envoy links peace in Afghanistan to resolution of Kashmir issue
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] A Pak envoy has reportedly linked peace in Afghanistan to the resolution of Kashmire issue as the Afghan officials are pessimistic regarding Islamabad’s honesty to bring the Taliban group to negotiations table.

Pakistain Prime Minister’s special envoy on Kashmire Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed has said a solution to both is required for peace and they cannot be "compartmentalised".
That's actually true: the Paks are perfectly capable of stirring a shitstorm up in Afghanistan whenever they like, and link that to whatever they like...
    "Road to peace in Kabul
...the capital of Afghanistan. Home to continuous fighting from 1992 to 1996 between the forces of would-be strongman and Pak ISI/Jamaat-e-Islami sock puppet Gulbuddin Hekmayar and the Northern Alliance, a period which won Hek the title Most Evil Man in the World and didn't do much for the reputations of the Northern Alliance guys either....
lies in Kashmire in the sense that when you talk of peace, you cannot compartmentalise peace, you can’t segregate a section... ok you can have peace in Kabul and let Kashmire burn. That is not going to happen," Syed was quoted as saying in a report by Economic Times.

Syed who is the chairman of the Pakistain Senate’s Defence and Defence Production Committee was speaking during an interaction at Washington-based think-tank Stimson Centre.

"So you (US) talk of a comprehensive peace settlement, so let the people of South Asia not be hostage to the hostility of the past. Let them move forward," Syed added.

Shezra Mansab, a member of the National Assembly of Pakistain, as Special Envoys of Pakistain Prime Minister on Kashmire, said "Our core issue this time is Kashmire and no peace can prevail in the region, if this issue is not solved. It is an international dispute. It is not an internal problem. The stakes are very high now, we are nuclear neighbours so we need to have peace on the issue of Kashmire and then rest of the things can be solved."

This comes as the Afghan officials earlier said that they will not expect Pakistain to help revive the Afghan peace talks with the Taliban group.

Efforts in the framework of Quadrilateral Coordination Group consisting of Afghanistan, Pakistain, US and China failed after the Taliban group rejected to participate in peace talks and announced their spring offensive.

The Afghan officials criticized Pakistain for remaining reluctant to act against the leadership councils of Taliban and Haqqani terrorist network based in Beautiful Downtown Peshawar
...capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (formerly known as the North-West Frontier Province), administrative and economic hub for the Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan. Peshawar is situated near the eastern end of the Khyber Pass, convenient to the Pak-Afghan border. Peshawar has evolved into one of Pakistan's most ethnically and linguistically diverse cities, which means lots of gunfire.

‘I stayed in room next to Chibok girl’s’
[DAILYTRUST.NG] Fatsuma Abdullahi lived with her parents in Damaturu, before her husband’s friends kidnapped her,
So many questions are unanswered in this article: Was the husband in on this? What happened to him afterward?
along with others, to remote camps in Gombi and Talala and forced her to marry a Boko Haram ‘scholar’. She opened up to Daily Trust on her experience.

Daily Trust: After you were kidnapped by Boko Haram members, what happened to you next?

Fatsuma Abdullahi: We spent four weeks in Gombi town and proceeded to Markas, a forest in Sambisa near Talala village where we finally settled. Months later, the insurgents insisted I marry one of them, an offer I turned down. I gave in when they threatened to sell me off. That’s how I ended up married to Boko Haram ‘scholar’, Abu Hafsah for three years.

    DT: How did you escape?

Fatsuma: The ideology clash between Shekau and Mamman Nur helped my people escape, because the strong members were too obsessed by it. In fact, Shekau killed many scholars who advocated for the Chibok Girls swap deal with government.

Shekau and his followers still hold the belief that all Nigerians are infidels, except those who follow his path.
So he is not actually a kinder, gentler jihadi who only goes after Christians and pagans after all. Good to know.
While on the other hand, Mamman Nur and the learned people among the members opined that anybody that observes the five pillars of Islam is a Muslim.

DT: You said Shekau killed many in cold blood...

Fatsuma: Yes. My husband, who is also a scholar,
...that would be the new husband, the one who was forced upon her...
was against the killings, so he supported Mamman Nur. One day, he confided in me his plan to defect. Unfortunately, some militants came in the night and told him that Shekau ordered them to pick him. He woke me up and handed his new phone to me, and advised me to sell it and escape with the children because Shekau is going to kill him.
How many children could she have produced in three years of "marriage"?
Weeks later, Shekau sent his fighters to kill all the men in Markas, because they rebelled. It was a major battle, but luckily our men defeated Shekau’s.

After that incident, our men joined Mamman Nur, and we were taken to Gwangon area, very close to Damboa town. The persecution became worse after Albaghdadi announced his support for Mamman Nur. Shekau refused to back down, that Albaghdadi is also an infidel, and threatened that he will not spare even women and children in the forest.

Many of us panicked when he made that statement. I told the other women my intention to escape, but none of them bought the idea. They warned that vigilantes are everywhere in the bush, and they would be cruel if found that I escaped from Boko Haram. But I’d already made up my mind.

About 11:30pm, I backed my child and took the bush path with my four children.
After three years of marriage, how could those children be able to walk a great distance?
We trekked for about four hours, then came across five insurgents. They helped me identify the proper route Buni Yadi. As we spoke, vigilantes sprang out of nowhere and shot one of them dead. I didn’t run, but my son ran with the escaping insurgents. I still can’t find him.

DT: Had you ever been to Sambisa Forest, before the ideology crisis?

Fatsuma: Yes, we went there after the army dislodged us from Buni Yadi. At that time, Markas was not a safe place, so we went to Sambisa. We spent some weeks but Shekau refused to talk to us, so we went back to Markas.

DT: Were you able to see the Chibok girls?

Fatsuma: Yes, but most of them were sold off as slaves. Some were married off, and others imprisoned. One of them lived in a room next to mine. She wanted to escape, but I couldn’t help her then.

DT: Were you there when Shekau demanded for Chibok Girls swap?

Fatsuma: Actually, it was Mamman Nur who tried to bargain for the Boko haram scholars. But Shekau is the one keeping the Chibok Girls. He kicked against the idea, and threatened to kill the girls if it came to that. My husband told me before he was killed that Shekau will not release the Chibok Girls.

    India-Pakistan
    Between the intervals
[DAWN] BIG news can trigger a big debate, which is always a healthy process in itself. A well-articulated exchange of ideas has the potential to change our perceptions and positively contribute to the national discourse.

At the joint parliamentary session this week, politicians spoke their mind and a few of them asked blunt questions about the continued presence and functioning of some banned bad boy groups in the country. Probably the most interesting comment on the politicians’ criticism of the state’s inaction against these groups that appeared on social media read: "the news [we have] waited for too long."

Some media reports suggested that the state plans to mainstream banned bad boy organizations. Many, however, doubt the possibility of such an action and deem it merely distractive rhetoric. Notwithstanding the civilian government’s concerns, growing diplomatic stress and fears of isolation, they do not believe the state actually has a plan to get rid of the banned
...the word banned seems to have a different meaning in Pakistain than it does in most other places. Or maybe it simply lacks any meaning at all...
    organization
    s. Even if such a course of action is adopted, it will take more than a decade to dilute the effect that banned groups have had on society. Some are sceptical the establishment is changing its approach or that it believes these groups can be mainstreamed. Most analysts nevertheless agree that there is now an opportunity to completely neutralise such regressive forces.

These are important views in the debate about the future of non-state actors in Pakistain. Most of them are based on a very simplistic view of the bad boy groups. There is a common perception that these proxies of the state can be rolled back easily. The fact is, many other states have nurtured bad boy movements as strategic assets, but they later discovered it was a fallacy to assume they would continue to serve as proxies.

The issue of non-state actors is extremely complex in the Pak context. Many groups tagged as proxies not only caused diplomatic problems for the country, but gradually they also took control of state narratives to emerge as a new far right that is not only interfering in ’strategic affairs’ but also shrinking the space for mainstream politics. In fact, sometimes it becomes difficult to conceive of them within the narrow framework of a ’proxy’.

These bad boy groups were not merely used as foreign policy tools, but were also allowed to restructure the national identity. Some bad boy groups reoriented existing nationalism and further narrowed it to religio-nationalism and generated hyper religio-nationalism. This happened so slowly that the risks were not assessed until the damage was done. Religious nationalism is similar to ’purification’ -- it moves towards religious extremes to attain enriching ’self-righteousness’.

It is an exclusionary process that does not shape or follow the course of traditional nationalism. Instead, as it becomes more exclusionary, elements of religious sectarianism and socio-political hate narratives become part of its defining characteristics. Many religious nationalists become more faith-centric and ’nationalism’ becomes meaningless for them. Al Qaeda and the bad boy Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group would be examples of such extreme entities.

As far as the probability of mainstreaming or reintegrating non-state actors is concerned, the characteristics of non-state actors in Pakistain first need to be identified. There are five types of bad boy groups existing in the country; foreign, tribal, sectarian, new urban bad boys, and conventional bad boy groups. All these have many commonalities, but it is the conventional bad boy groups that are considered the proxies once used in Afghanistan and India-held Kashmire.

If the state is really considering the reintegration of the conventional bad boy groups, a three-fold strategy contingent on one important condition must be adopted. The condition is the complete disengagement between the conventional bad boy actors and the state institutions because no reintegration strategy can work otherwise.

As the first step of the strategy, the government can offer amnesty to banned groups that agree to abide by the Constitution; quit and denounce all kinds of violence and bad boy activities inside and outside the country; shun all criminal activities, including the propagation of hate material; and most importantly, register themselves with the relevant authorities/departments. A separate mechanism for their registration and monitoring can be evolved at the federal or provincial level.

The second step would be the monitoring phase in which the groups’ activities would be restricted and monitored. They would not be allowed to issue blurbs or publish any kind of material. Those among their leaders and members found to have been involved, in their individual capacity, in any act of terrorism, hate speech and other unlawful activities, should be made to face a court of law. This phase can last between three to five years depending on the group’s profile.

The risk of attrition always remains high in these groups and many individuals and small factions continue to break away and join other bad boy groups. A rehabilitation programme for splintering members should also be created. The army is running rehabilitation centres for bad boy detainees, but rehabilitation requirements for conventional turbans are different. They need ideological and political rehabilitation as well. This is the real challenge. Does the state have the politico-ideological resources to neutralise violent ideological tendencies among the conventional bad boy groups?

No doubt the reintegration of turbans should be a priority for the state but it should not be the only one. Comprehensively implementing the National Action Plan would serve to reduce the space for them further. These groups camouflage themselves in national narratives. They seek legitimacy from national crisis situations, such as earthquakes or floods, but regional hostilities remain their primary source of strength. Tensions between Pakistain and India in particular provide them the means to justify their existence. The result is massive confusion among the people as to who is the real custodian of the national interest.

Nevertheless, all this is for later. The first requirement is the absolute resolve of the state. When Gen Musharraf banned such groups in January 2002, it had triggered a similar kind of optimism. It was big news at that time, but with the benefit of hindsight, we know what transpired between then and now.

Sylhet Concerned Citizen’s Forum organised a protest in Tukerbazar on Saturday. Masuk Mia spoke along with AL Organisational Secretary Misbah Uddin Siraj and BNP General Secretary Ali Ahmad representing the district units. They later formed a human chain demanding capital punishment for Badrul.

Another protest was held by the Sylhet chapter of Sexual Harassment Elimination Network. Led by the District Advocate Committee’s president, the speakers demanded quick trial of Badrul for his criminal actions.

Shah Poran police OC Shahjalal Munshi told the Dhaka Tribune that they filed the charge sheet in record time. He said a lot still depends on Khadiza’s physical condition.

He added that he was closely following her medical status.

Sylhet Government Women’s College student Khadiza was injured grievously by a vicious hacking last Monday by Badrul, a leader of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology unit Chhatra League. She is now being treated at Square Hospital in Dhaka. Badrul has confessed to his crimes and now is in police custody.

Doctors on Saturday said that Khadiza’s condition was improving slowly.

She could move her right hand and right leg and respond with the right eye slightly, said Dr AM Rezaul Sattar, associate consultant of neurology department of the hospital.

"Khadiza is still not out of danger. We cannot predict much of her recovery at this stage. However,
there's no worse danger than telling a mother her baby is ugly...
the condition is better," said Mirza Nazim Uddin, consultant of the hospital’s Medicine and Critical Care Unit.

Proximity of arms cache to political party headquarters raises questions, says Murad Ali Shah
[DAWN] Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Saturday said the proximity of a large arms cache, recovered from a vacant house in Azizabad, to the headquarters of a political party raises many questions.

"The house is close to the headquarter of a political party, therefore questions are being raised about the ownership of the weapons dumped there," he said.

He said an inquiry has been ordered to probe the origins of the arms cache and all the questions will be answered when the inquiry is completed.

    A huge cache of NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A cautionary tale of cost-benefit analysis....
weapons and ammunition was recovered by police earlier this week during a raid on an vacant house in the Azizabad area of the metropolis.

Syrian Army advances in Khan Al-Sheh, Western Ghouta
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) was able to make a noticeable advance in the rebel stronghold of Khan al-Sheh in Western Ghouta.

Units from the elite 4th Mechanized Division managed to infiltrate the town from the northern sector seizing Masjid al-Azim district of the town along with several building blocks from the direction of Drushah and Tahtouh Buildings after hours of intense festivities with primarily Jabhat Fath al-Sham terrorists.

The military command of the Syrian Armed Forces seeks to expel the bad boy presence in the sensitive region of Western Ghouta to improve logistical operation capabilities of the government troops in southern Syria and enhance security in the capital's backyard.

Attempted ISIS-Inspired Suicide Bombing Targeting American Soldiers in Kuwait
[Arab Times] KUWAIT CITY, Oct 8, An Egyptian driving a garbage truck loaded with explosives and Islamic State papers rammed into a truck carrying five US soldiers in Kuwait on Saturday, injuring only himself in the attack, authorities said.

The attempted attack is the first by the Islamic State group to target American troops in the tiny, oil-rich emirate that’s a stalwart US ally.

It comes as authorities already increased security ahead of a major Shiite commemoration in the coming days. The state-run Kuwait News Agency identified the attacker as Ibrahim Sulaiman, born in 1988, and published a picture of the alleged assailant in a hospital bed, a bruise beneath his right eye.

KUNA said the five soldiers were not injured. It said Sulaiman had multiple fractures and injuries. It was not immediately clear if the Egyptian had a lawyer.

The KUNA report did not offer a location for the failed attack, though it published pictures of the aftermath of the crash showing a wrecked garbage truck, as well as items it described as a suicide belt loaded with shrapnel. The white pickup truck apparently carrying the soldiers had the left side of its bed smashed in. American forces and others have troops stationed at Kuwait’s Camp Arifjan.
