Just as we thought about the Iran nuclear deal. Podesta might be a closet-case R-burger. There's a great deal, some might say "Gold Mine" of information in the WikiLeaks releases. Just difficult wading through them due to the volume.

Former U.S. Attorney: Agents See FBI Chief Comey as a 'Dirty Cop'
[Spectator] James Comey presides over an FBI in revolt over his leadership, a former U.S. attorney tells The American Spectator, and pursues "paranoid, delusional, and vindictive" measures to prevent negative information leaking out to the public.
Well, what do you expect from a man that is deeply in bed with the Clintons?
"I know that inside the FBI there is a revolt," Joseph diGenova tells The American Spectator. "There is a revolt against the director. The people inside the bureau believe the director is a dirty cop. They believe that he threw the [Hillary Clinton email] case. They do not know what he was promised in return. But the people inside the bureau who were involved in the case and who knew about the case are talking to former FBI people expressing their disgust at the conduct of the director."

The loss of faith in the bureau chief stems in part from a dishonest rendering of the decision not to indict Mrs. Clinton as unanimous rather than unilateral and in part from the bureau's decision to destroy evidence in the case and grant blanket immunity to Clinton underlings for no possible prosecutorial purpose.

"There is a consensus among the employees that the director has lost all credibility and that he cannot lead the bureau," diGenova explains. "They are comparing him to L. Patrick Gray, the disgraced former FBI director who threw Watergate papers into the Potomac River. The resistance to the director has made the agency incapable of action. It has been described to me as a depression within the agency unlike anything that anyone has ever seen within the bureau. The director's public explanation for the unorthodox investigation are viewed by people in the bureau as sophomoric and embarrassing."

Comey maintained in July that he came to the decision to recommend not indicting Clinton for the inclusion of classified material in 110 emails stored on a private server based on an "entirely apolitical and professional" investigation despite conceding that others in a similar spot would face "consequences" and that "evidence of potential violations" existed. He insisted then, "No outside influence of any kind was brought to bear."

But agents trained to sniff out malfeasance smell something rotten here.
They ain't the only ones
"When the director said that it was a unanimous decision not to recommend prosecution, that was a lie," diGenova points out. "In fact, the people involved in the case were outraged at his decision, which he made by himself. When people realized that he was lying publicly about their role and when they knew he had approved of the destruction of laptops that were subject to congressional subpoena, that flipped the switch."
Why else were the investigators forced to sign a NDA? The powers that be knew they would be betrayed.
Critics of the FBI and the broader handling of the case by the Justice Department remain skeptical over investigators' ostensible belief in Clinton's claim that she "lost" 13 Blackberry devices and did not understand that documents marked "C" meant confidential. Decisions to grant Clinton aide Cheryl Mills attorney-client privilege in a case involving her, to destroy her laptop and with it any evidence desired by Congress, and to limit the investigation's search to documents from before January 31, 2015 to obstruct any possible obstruction of justice case against Mills also similarly baffled. Direct evidence of Clinton hiding public business on a private server (and thereby making it easier for enemy governments to see what the American government could not) and "bleaching" her hard drive after the story became public presented the FBI clear evidence of wrongdoing. But authorities sought to protect rather than prosecute the malefactors.

"The director's public explanation for the unorthodox investigation are viewed by people in the bureau as sophomoric and embarrassing," diGenova notes. "The people in the bureau anticipate that there will be subpoenas for their testimony. Comey in a telephone conference with special agents in charge around the country, within the last few days, warned that if they received a phone inquiry about the investigation, or any inquiry about the investigation, they were ordered to report the call and the caller to the director's office."

DiGenova describes such control tactics as something out of J. Edgar Hoover's FBI. Yet, it's Hoover's successor, L. Patrick Gray, who offers the clearest parallel to Comey. As diGenova puts it, "There is a Deep Throat."

Agents involved in the case now fear congressional subpoenas thanks to Comey's head-scratching handling of the case. DiGenova met this week with figures requesting attorneys for FBI officials. The former independent counsel and U.S. attorney affirms his willingness to serve in that capacity and to represent potential whistleblowers.

"These people are trained to be loyal, honest, and forthright," diGenova points out. "What [Comey] did was force them to corrupt their oath of office. They have had enough."
I'll know they have had enough when they arrest their superiors, members of the DOJ and Hillary. Otherwise they are just wanking into the wind.

#1  Ah, come on. It's the Chicago Way. The new 'Touchables'.
Posted by: Procopius2k || 10/14/2016 14:18 Comments || Top||

#2  Comey said the decision was unanimous? He meant among himself, the Director of the FBI, and himself, all three agreed in the decision, and they were the only three that count. And he agrees with them.
Actually, in his own mind, Comey believed he was being fair. He stated correctly that the FBI investigation found that Mrs. Clinton had committed more than one felony.
That was a plus for Republicans.
He then decided that it would be unfair for Mrs. Clinton to suffer any punishment for her behavior because she was running for president and that might be a disaster for Democrats. Thus he went beyond his FBI role to give his personal opinion that she be let off, as a compensating benefit for Democrats.
I wonder if this means that by the Comey rule, any felon can claim immunity from prosecution by declaring his/her self to be a Democrat candidate for President; perhaps even candidate for membership in the Senate or House.

The notion that when fairness favors one side, it is OK to be unfair to balance that fact, is the death warrant for justice.
To find that a murderer is guilty should similarly be balanced by letting him off. That is, after all, the logic of the Close Guantanamo movement.

Wikileaks Confirms The Obvious - John Roberts Got Rolled On Obamacare
Isn't that great? The worst piece of Federal legislation of my lifetime survived because of one asshole...
Turns out those people were proven right today as a new Podesta email confirms that the Obama administration applied political pressure on Roberts to sway his decision: "it was pretty critical that the President threw the gauntlet down last time on the Court...that was vital to scaring Roberts off."

While it's fairly disturbing that the Clinton team would flippantly admit such things, what's even worse is that they plotted to use Obama's same strategy of applying political pressure on the Supreme Court in 2015 to overturn "King v Burwell" which also threatened Obamacare's future.

The email below from Neera Tanden, clearly shows Clinton staffers colluding with the President of the Center for American Progress on a scheme to apply political pressure on the Supreme Court to overturn the challenge.

News from Evansville and USN LST-325 (Video)
[FOX] Over 70 years have passed since the Allied forces stormed Omaha Beach in Normandy, France during World War II, but a historic relic from that time still lives on. The USS LST 325, a landing ship commissioned on February 1, 1943 participated in battle operations on D-Day, June 6th 1944, carrying vehicles, soldiers, tanks and equipment.

Captain Robert "Bob" Kubota, a certified tugboat pilot, volunteers his time on the LST 325.

"This was such an important part of the war effort, Churchill himself said this is the ship that won the war," Kubota said. "They were able to get them not only just the tanks but all the other necessary material that goes to fighting a modern war."

Although he did not serve in the armed forces, Kubota has a strong family connection to the war. Kubota’s father, a Japanese-American born in the United States, was first placed in an internment camp, then paroled to work the crops to fill the labor shortage caused by the war, before being drafted to serve as a Master Sergeant during WWII.

"It was always a sore subject with him obviously and I’m very much aware of that, even today," said Kubota.

Irwin Kuhns, a WWII veteran and member of the current LST 325 crew, served as a U.S. Navy Coxswain in the Pacific. Kuhns helped deliver supplies aboard Higgins boats, which are smaller supply vessels used to deliver troops ashore. After celebrating his 90th birthday in April of 2016, Kuhns says he can still vividly recall his life during the war.

HRC Exposed Kurdish Attack Tactic Against ISIS in Email To Podesta
[TownHall] A second portion of an unsecured email sent to former White House Counselor John Podesta and released in last week's Wikileaks dump, previously reported on here, shows former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton discussing how the Kurdish Peshmerga could launch a coordinated attack with the U.S. from the air, surprising ISIS. The email also exposes the detailed information came from on the ground intelligence in the region. Podesta is now the Chairman of Clinton's 2016 presidential campaign.
The teaching and training of those tactics involved (and places at risk) players other than local nationals.
According to a military source familiar with classified information, the information detailed in the email appears to be highly classified. The information was sent over Clinton's unsecured, vulnerable and non-government personal server to Podesta's Gmail account on August 19, 2014, more than a year after Clinton left the State Department in February 2013. Podesta worked at the White House from 2014-2015.

#15  Yah, that Mitt Romney really kicked ass back in 2012.

He was running against the left's Reagan*. What excuse does Trump have, given that he's running against Hillary? After 4 years of Obamacare, he's too cheap to run ads or too lazy/distracted to raise money to run ads against it, so all independents know about him is what they hear from liberal network news and Hillary's ads, i.e. that he's a no-goodnik. For a GOP candidate, the minimum required to be competitive in any election is not some kind of secret - you need to run ads to counter liberal media attacks and your opponent's ads among voters who don't pay much attention to politics. Instead, Trump is running around giving speeches to people who already support him.

When Trump loses by a bigger margin than Romney, his excuse will be that down ticket pols deserted him. In reality, he deserted them - by running a crappy campaign, he put them in danger of defeat. He's losing not because they're abandoning him - they're abandoning him because he's losing, and they don't want to go down with the ship.

* Just how good is Obama at politics? He's got a 50% favorable rating among likely voters after 8 years of presidential overreach, and below par growth.

#16  The article is ridiculous. Combined arms attacks have been around since antiquity. A good number of ISIS leaders are veterans of both the Afghan and Iraqi campaigns. #20  Can you grasp the concept of "classified information," Zhang? Talking about times, locations and specific targets, yes. This is just a general reference to tactics used in the past - tactics discussed ad nauseam by grunts up to general officers with the media and addressed in much greater detail in books about the Afghan and Iraqi campaigns. It is also available in eye-glazing detail to anyone who can lay his hands on a current Army field manual, copies of which - bootleg or original - are undoubtedly all over Iraq.

#21  Can you grasp the concept of "classified information," Zhang?

My basic point is that what the article claims to be classified information probably isn't - i.e. the author is either ignorant or misinformed and stretching the bounds of what he actually knows re the classification status of that information.

The previous high among the other reporting states was Wisconsin, which reported 27 cases of active TB among refugees arriving in the state between 2014 and 2015.

US taxpayers donate $103k to Liliesleaf Farm to preserve ANC history
[IOL] Johannesburg ‐ United States of America Ambassador Patrick Gaspard gave Liliesleaf Farm CEO Nicholas Wolpe $103 329 on Wednesday, to help conserve rare items of significant value and relevance to the history of South Africa's liberation movement.

The US grant will enable Liliesleaf to digitise oral histories, rare books, letters from prison, scrapbooks, strategic organisational documents, and works produced in exile so they may be studied by future scholars.

Liliesleaf Farm in Rivonia, Johannesburg, was selected to receive the grant, which comes from the US Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation (AFCP), following a worldwide competition for funds dedicated by the US government to the preservation of cultural sites, cultural objects, and forms of traditional cultural expression in more than 100 countries.

Liliesleaf Farm was the headquarters of the African National Congress’s military wing Umkhonto we Sizwe (MK) until it was raided by the apartheid government’s security police in 1963.

#1  US AMBO Patrick Gaspard:

Patrick Gaspard (born 1967 - Kinshasa, Zaire) is the current United States Ambassador to South Africa. He is a noted Democratic Party political leader and elections staffer.

Prior to becoming Ambassador to South Africa, Gaspard was most well known for his time at the White House and as the day-to-day leader of the Democratic Party headquarters. He served as the Executive Director of the Democratic National Committee from 2011 to 2013, overseeing the party committee's efforts to re-elect President Obama. Previously, he was the Director of the White House Office of Political Affairs for the Obama administration from January 2009 to 2011,[1][2] Associate Personnel Director of President-elect Obama's transition team,[3] and National Political Director of Barack Obama's 2008 presidential campaign.

Gaspard's early career was spent in New York City, including working on the 1988 Jesse Jackson presidential bid and David Dinkins's successful 1989 mayoral campaign.

Shocking development: UNESCO Passes Resolution to Diminish Jewish, Christian Ties to Jerusalem
[Free Beacon] The United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization passed a resolution on Thursday that diminishes the historic and spiritual connections of Judaism and Christianity to the city of Jerusalem after dozens of U.S. lawmakers called on the international body to reject the measure.

Israeli officials and others in the pro-Israel community decried the resolution as anti-Semitic and said it was an effort to delegitimize the Jewish state. Twenty-four countries voted in favor of the measure while six rejected it, including the United States. Another 26 states abstained. No European nation approved the resolution, which was introduced by Egypt,
...clearly President Sisi is not actually a friend to Israel, but a partner of necessity in their mutual fight against Hamas...
Algeria, Morocco, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, and Sudan.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R., Texas) and Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R., Fla.) led a bipartisan group of 40 lawmakers earlier this week in writing a letter to the Executive Board of UNESCO saying the resolution to be discussed Thursday and Friday was part of a broader effort to delegitimize Israel.

"The United Nations’ obsessive hostility towards Israel will be on display yet again this week as UNESCO considers another blatantly biased resolution that unjustly singles out our close ally Israel with false accusations and criticism, and attempts to erase the specific deep-rooted, historical connection of Jews and Christians to Jerusalem, Israel’s eternal capital," Cruz said.

The resolution, postponed from the initial July vote amid fallout from the failed coup in Turkey, identifies holy sites in Jerusalem exclusively by their Muslim names. Jewish and Christian advocacy groups were particularly outraged by a provision that would declare the Temple Mount, the holiest site in Judaism, sacred to "Muslims only."

How they voted: UNESCO resolution on Temple Mount, Western Wall

[IsraelTimes] The following is a breakdown of how the nations of the world voted on today’s UNESCO resolution that omits any Jewish connection to the Temple Mount and Western Wall.

For: South Africa, Algeria, Bangladesh, Brazil, China, Egypt, Russia, Lebanon, Iran, Malaysia, Morocco, Mauritius, Mexico, Mozambique, Nicaragua, Nigeria, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, the Dominican Republic, Senegal, Sudan, Chad and Vietnam

Against: Britain, the Netherlands, Lithuania, the US, Estonia and Germany

Abstentions: Albania, Argentina, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, El Salvador, Spain, France, Ghana, Greece, Haiti, India, Japan, Kenya, Nepal, Uganda, Paraguay, South Korea, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Slovenia, Sri Lanka, Sweden, Togo, Trinidad and Tobago, and Ukraine

Absent: Turkmenistan and Serbia

HRC changes story, admits she didn't have permission for secret email server
[Wash Times] Hillary Clinton admitted under oath this week that she doesn’t recall asking anyone for permission to use a secret server and email account during her time in the State Department, contradicting previous public pronouncements that she had received approval.

Mrs. Clinton said she didn’t recall seeing a 2011 warning about increased hacking attempts on senior department officials’ private accounts and that she didn’t actually write another warning that was sent under her name.

"Secretary Clinton states that she does not recall being advised, cautioned, or warned during her tenure as Secretary of State about hacking or attempted hacking of her clintonemail.com e-mail account or the server that hosted her clintonemail.com account," she said in sworn testimony dated Monday and filed in federal court Thursday.

A judge had ordered Mrs. Clinton to provide testimony as he decides whether the State Department fully complied with the Freedom of Information Act, which gives the public a right to see its public officials’ records -- including emails that contain government business.

Mrs. Clinton for years foiled that law by using her secret account, which was tied to a server she kept at her home in New York, and which effectively shielded her emails from any sort of open records oversight. She returned some 30,000 messages in December 2014, nearly two years after she left government, and the FBI said it recovered thousands more that she failed to turn over.

WikiLeaks: op NASA Official May Have Broken The Law
[Daily Mail] A NASA director sent a potentially illegal email to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton adviser Cheryl Mills complaining their campaign asked him for donations too frequently.

Wikileaks published an email sent from the official government account of John F. Hall, NASA's director of the Export Control and Interagency Liaison Division, that may have violated the Hatch Act, which states that federal officials must not "engage in political activity while on duty or in the workplace," or "political activity in an official capacity at any time."

"People during normal working hours aren't supposed to do this," Richard Painter, a professor of corporate law at the University of Minnesota who testified before Congress on the reform of the Hatch Act, told The Daily Caller News Foundation. "That's a no-no unless they're confirmed by the Senate. This could be parallel to some of the violations of the Bush White House during the 2006 campaign. The Bush White House got in some trouble for this sort of thing."

This same method has been used in other settings. For example, I know a guy (life-long Republican) who had to join a union to get a job despite never belonging to a union before (always a part of management)--he was surprised to learn that some of his dues goes to supporting candidates whom he does not support and would not vote for. Another example. I know another guy who worked on Wall Street at a high level. He was tapped for donations by various NY Democrats running for office. He was made to understand that raises, promotions, bonuses were contingent upon his "donations" shakedown payments. He too is a Republican.

"May have broken the law." I assure you, these people are not concerned about breaking the law. They are not even concerned about getting caught anymore as everything is wired on the inside (DOJ, FBI, etc.) Other people must realize this too--thus Trump's popularity.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Did a Russian Ship Cut Syria's Internet Cables?
A Russian ship that intelligence and military officials reportedly fear can cut undersea Internet cables is near the coast of Syria. And its appearance coincides with what researchers say is a marked uptick in the instability of Internet traffic in that country.

The ship, named Yantar, is currently positioned off the coast of Lebanon and is moving on a northern track towards Syria, according to public vessel tracking data. Dyn, a U.S.-based company that tracks Internet outages around the world, reports a dip in the number of available networks in Syria in recent days.

Undersea cables are frequently cut by accident, including by ship anchors dragging on the ocean floor. It’s possible that the Internet outages in Syria and Yantar’s presence in the neighborhood are merely a coincidence.

But the Internet in Syria has a history of going down at times that the regime of Bashar al-Assad has plotted military offensives, raising the possibility that Russia may be assisting in a communications blackout as its military forces pound rebel positions in the beleaguered city of Aleppo.

The ship is technically classified as a research vessel, but it’s equipped with a pair of remote submarines that U.S. officials have said are capable of severing the cables miles under the ocean’s surface that carry global Internet communications.

Yantar cruised off the coast of the United States last year en route to Cuba, and was monitored along the way by American intelligence satellites, according to The New York Times. At the time, officials said they were monitoring a surge in Russian submarine activity along undersea cable routes.

Defense officials told The Daily Beast that they couldn’t confirm the presence of the Yantar near the Syrian coast.

Yantar, the Russian word for amber, was built for secretive deep-sea research, according to the Web site Global Security.

Clinton-backing super PAC signals confidence in Colorado
PUEBLO, Colo. -- Priorities USA Action, the main super PAC supporting Hillary Clinton, has axed its final two weeks of television ad reservations leading up to Election Day in Colorado, reflecting Democratic confidence that the party's nominee will win the traditional battleground, a Democrat familiar with the move confirmed to POLITICO.

The maneuver, finalized on Tuesday evening, came just before Clinton landed in the state for the first time in weeks, but as public polls show Donald Trump trailing.

Clinton's lead in the RealClearPolitics average of Colorado polls was more than 7 points as of Wednesday afternoon, when she was heading to a rally here. The super PAC had previously suspended its ads in Colorado over the summer in an earlier show of confidence, but the latest move is a confirmation of its comfort with the state.

Europe
No quick return to Schengen
[DeutscheWelle] The European Commission's hope to restore the Schengen system's border-free internal travel by the end of the year is looking bleak. As interior ministers met in Luxembourg Thursday, the overriding view was that it's not feasible to drop the emergency measures by mid-November when they are scheduled to end.

The controls were put in place by Austria, Denmark, Germany, Norway and Sweden in the midst of the migration crisis as countries sought to manage the influx of hundreds of thousands of people. German Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere told journalists upon arrival in Luxembourg Thursday that it's "right we should extend the possibility of border controls on a European basis." They can only be renewed up to a total of two years.

"We want to go back to a control-free Schengen," de Maiziere insists, "but for that we have to have better protection of external borders." Austrian Interior Minister Wolfgang Sobotka added that "reality" dictates a prolongation, with 50,000 refugees in Greece and many more in the Balkans. "I can hardly imagine that the system will be functioning on November 15," Sobotka said. "I think it will probably be necessary to have an extension or we have to think of other steps."

But prolonged blockage of free movement will be anything but free, according to a new study by the RAND Europe research Institute. Commissioned by the European Parliament to "investigate the economic, social and political costs of 'non-Schengen''', the report warns leaders the annual cost of permanently re-establishing border controls could be as high as 2‐3 billion euros ($2.2-3.6 billion) every year. That's after one-time costs that could range up to 19 billion euros "depending on the timeframe."

Interior ministers are discussing agreements with Æthiopia, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, and Senegal
... a nation of about 14 million on the west coast of Africa bordering Mauretania to the north, Mali to the east, and a pair of Guineas to the south, one of them Bissau. It is 90 percent Mohammedan and has more than 80 political parties. Its primary purpose seems to be absorbing refugees...
that involve - openly acknowledged by some member governments but not the European Commission - the exchange of funds to be used for development in exchange for progress to block migrant outflows and take back failed asylum-seeker citizens.

German police probing ‘refugee’ baby put for sale on eBay

[IsraelTimes] German police say they are investigating a refugee couple after their 1-month-old baby was put up for sale on the online auction platform eBay for 5,000 euros ($5,500).

Police launched a probe into possible human trafficking after they were tipped off about the advertisement which appeared online on Tuesday.

The 40-day-old girl has been handed to child protection officers, police from the western city of Duisburg say in a statement.

Preliminary investigations show that the advertisement was put up using the internet connection of the couple, identified by police only as “refugees.”

However, police say the internet connection was also in use by other members of the family, adding that the probe is ongoing.

Notes from Elon Musk speaking at the NRO >> we can exactly replicate if rocket is shot
Details from Elon's speech at the NRO (self.spacex)
submitted 23 minutes ago * by Ravenous117

Addressing the anomaly:

"We are close to figuring it out. It might have been formation of solid oxygen in the carbon over-wrap of one of the bottles in the upper stage tanks. If it was liquid it would have been squeezed out but under pressure it could have ignited with the carbon. This is the leading theory right now, but it is subject to confirmation.

The other thing we discovered is that we can exactly replicate what happened on the launch pad if someone shoots the rocket. We don't think that is likely this time around, but we are definitely going to have to take precautions against that in the future. We looked at who would want to blow up a SpaceX rocket. That turned out to be a long list. I think it is unlikely this time, but it is something we need to recognize as a real possibility in the future."

Addressing return to flight:

"The plan is to get back to launch in early December and that will be from pad 39A at the Cape and we will be launching around the same time from Vandenberg as well. Pad 40 will probably be back in action around March or April next year. Probably around May or so is when we will launch Falcon Heavy. We are going to re-fly the first returned core December or January. We have test fired one of the returned cores 8 times and it looks good. That is promising for testing re-flight."

Other interesting points:

3D printing works fine for super-dracos, but too much work is needed to make it feasible on Raptors.

Elon envisions Mars as a direct democracy, not a representative democracy.

Still wants communication satellite constellation to provide revenue for Mars.

In talking about the IAC, "Crazy people are a lot faster to the mic than scientists."

These are my personal accounts of what I heard from Elon live and the rough transcript is from a recording of the event. I do not know much other than what I heard but I wanted to share with you guys. Enjoy.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Russian, Syrian airstrikes hit several Syrian provinces
Both the Syrian regime and Russia yesterday expanded their air campaign against areas controlled by the opposition, specifically in the city of Aleppo, the countrysides of Idlib and Homs and Ghouta, east of Damascus. Sources reported the death of dozens of people and said that dozens more were missing under the rubble.

Activists said that 15 civilians were killed, including four children, and 15 others were wounded during air raids carried out by Russian warplanes that targeted the centre of a popular market in Aleppo’s Al-Firdous neighbourhood that is under the control of the opposition. Abu Mohammed Al-Shami, a nurse in a field hospital in Aleppo, told the news outlet Syria News Desk that Russian warplanes used two missiles during the raid on the market whilst hundreds of civilians were buying necessities. He added that the injured were rushed to a field hospital for treatment and that some of them were critically injured. Three people with head injuries were placed in intensive care and some people had limbs amputated. Al-Shami added that civil defence teams are still searching for missing people under the rubble and pointed out that the bombing led to the destruction of shops and residential buildings.

The Syrian regime’s forces have been attacking the eastern neighbourhoods in Aleppo since the 22nd of September. Since then, clashes have been taking place in various areas including the Bustan Al-Basha and Al-Sheikh Saeed neighbourhoods in the south of the city.

For its part, the news agency Shahba Press reported that the Al-Firdous neighbourhood was the target of several air raids carried out by the regime’s aircraft. Twelve people were killed, others were injured and buildings were damaged as a result. The agency also reported that the Kallaseh neighbourhood was the target of four Russian air raids and that this caused a lot of damage to buildings. These air raids come after a bloody day in which the number of those killed rose to 55 and many were injured during Russian raids on Aleppo and its countryside.

In addition to this, government forces stationed in the towns Nubul and Al-Zahra targeted the towns of Hiyan and Biyanoon in the Aleppo countryside, which are controlled by the opposition, with 25 rockets, some of which were Elephant rockets. Houses and other buildings were destroyed according to reports by activists.

Meanwhile, a woman and her two children were killed and more than 8 people were injured in the Idlib countryside yesterday after Russian warplanes targeted villages in the eastern Idlib countryside with thermobaric rockets.

More from Al-Arabiya
Russian jets resumed heavy bombing of rebel-held eastern Aleppo on Tuesday after several days of relative calm, a rebel official and the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitoring group said.

Air strikes mostly hit the Bustan al-Qasr neighborhood, Zakaria Malhifji of the Aleppo-based Fastaqim rebel group told Reuters.

“There is renewed bombardment and it is heavy,” he said.

The Observatory said the death toll from bombing in Bustan al-Qasr, Fardous and other neighborhoods rose to at least 25, with scores of wounded.

At least 50 civilians were killed by strikes on the rebel-held part of the city and nearby villages controlled by insurgents, residents and rescue workers said. In Bustan al Qasr, residents said, the strikes hit a medical center and a children’s playground.

The Syrian army, backed by Iranian-backed militias, also said it had consolidated its control of the al Jandoul traffic circle at a major road intersection on the northern outskirts of Aleppo.

Moscow and Damascus reduced air raids in the northern city last week. The Syrian army said that was partly to allow civilians to leave opposition-held eastern neighborhoods.

The Syrian government said rebels holed up in Aleppo can leave with their families if they lay down their arms. Insurgents denounced that offer as a deception.

President Bashar al-Assad seeks the complete recapture of Aleppo, Syria’s biggest city before the 5 1/2-year war, which has been divided between government and opposition control for years.

Assad’s Russian allies have meanwhile built up its forces in Syria after a brief ceasefire collapsed last month.

Since Russia intervened in the war a year ago, the government’s side has gained the upper hand on numerous fronts, including Aleppo, where the opposition-held sector has been completely encircled for weeks.

Insurgents have advanced elsewhere, including in Hama province further south, where they captured a series of towns and villages last month. But in recent days, government forces have regained some of that ground.

In the southern city of Deraa, which is split between government and rebel control, insurgent shelling of a school killed at least five people, including children, on Tuesday, the Observatory and state media reported.

Rebels denied they fired at the school. Residents reported the same death toll.

Near the Turkish border, rebels backed by Turkey and a US-led coalition closed in on the ISIS-held village of Dabiq, the site of an apocalyptic prophesy central to the militant group’s ideology.

Free Syrian Army (FSA) rebel groups have been pushing south into ISIS’s territory in an operation backed by Turkey since Aug. 24, and have taken more villages near Dabiq in recent days.

But hundreds of mines planted by the militants were delaying their progress, rebels said. The militants even retook the villages of Ihtimlat and Kafra only hours after the FSA fighters seized them, rebels said.

“They planted along their front lines of defense hundreds of mines,” a rebel from the Failaq al Sham group said. Now the goal of FSA forces was to retake the town of Soran, an ISIS stronghold in the area, before moving on to Dabiq, he said.

al-Nusra members captured in Aleppo
[al-Manar] The Syrian army and allies managed on Thursday to capture a number of Nusra Front terrorists in Sheikh Said area in southern Aleppo.

The Nusra terrorists who were captured by the Syrian army and allies acknowledged that they were trained in Turkey.

"Even though the board of doctors has closely monitored and treated him to the best of its abilities, the king’s condition never improved but deteriorated until Thursday," it said in a statement.

Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha announced that Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn will be the new monarch in accordance with the constitution.

He said government officials will observe a one-year mourning period. "He is now in heaven and may be looking over Thai citizens from there," he said of Bhumibol.

Taliban Struggling Financially Since Mansour's Death
[Tolo News] The Taliban appear to be facing financial pressure since the death of their former leader Mullah Akhtar Mansour, who was more adept at managing money, Charles Cleveland, kept in touch with the world by Obamaphone,

. "We believe that the death of Mullah Mansour certainly contributed to that as well."

Mansour, who was killed in a U.S. drone strike in Pakistain's Balochistan

"It was a good harvest and we did expect the Taliban to be flush with money, but since that time of course Mansour was killed and we have seen this evidence, in particular the taxes being raised on the local population," he said.

The financial pressure could be affecting Taliban operational readiness. But Cleveland acknowledged the bad boy group manages to offset some of that pressure through their field operations against Afghan cops.

"Of course what we've also seen is that they will raid a checkpoint and they kind of restock some of their supplies as well," Cleveland added.

Supreme Court adjourns hearing of Asia Bibi case
[DAWN] The Supreme Court on Thursday adjourned a hearing of the final appeal against the execution of Asia Bibi, accused for blasphemy.

Police and troops had been stationed across Islamabad as the apex court readied to hear the appeal of Bibi who has been on death row since 2010.

One of the three-judge bench, Justice Iqbal Hameed-ur-Rehman, told the court he had to recuse himself, claiming a conflict of interest.

"I was a part of the bench that was hearing the case of Salman Taseer, and this case is related to that," he told the court. A letter was written to the chief justice to appoint another judge to the bench.

The SC did not immediately set a new date for Bibi's appeal.

In 2011, former Punjab
1.) Little Orphan Annie's bodyguard
2.) A province of Pakistain ruled by one of the Sharif brothers
3.) A province of India. It is majority (60 percent) Sikh and Hindoo (37 percent), which means it has relatively few Moslem riots....

governor Salman Taseer, who spoke out in support of Bibi, was bumped off in broad daylight in Islamabad. His assassin Mumtaz Qadri was executed earlier in 2016 after the court found him guilty of murder. Justice Rehman was chief justice on the Islamabad High Court which heard Qadri's appeal in 2011.

The allegations against Bibi date back to June 2009, when she was labouring in a field and a row broke out with some Moslem women she was working with.

Asia Bibi, accused of insulting the Prophet Mohammed (PTUI!) during an argument with a Moslem woman over a bowl of water, was convicted and sentenced to death in 2010 despite her advocates maintaining her innocence and insisting the accusers held grudges against her.

She was asked to fetch water, but the Moslem women objected, saying that as a non-Moslem she was unfit to touch the water bowl.

The women went to a local holy man and accused Bibi of blasphemy against the Prophet Mohammed (PTUI!), a charge punishable by death under legislation that rights groups say is routinely abused to settle personal vendettas.

Bibi's supporters maintain her innocence and insist it was a personal dispute, and the Vatican has called for her release.

But successive appeals have been rejected, and if the SC bench eventually upholds Bibi's conviction, her only recourse will be a direct appeal to the president for clemency.

If that fails, she could become the first person in Pakistain to be executed for blasphemy.

The repercussions for minorities, human rights
...which are usually open to widely divergent definitions...
and the blasphemy laws would be "tremendous", says Shahzad Akbar, a human rights lawyer.

warned on Wednesday, saying it would keep troops nearby despite Baghdad's opposition.

President Tayyip Erdogan said Turkey, locked in an escalating row with Iraq over who should take part in the planned Mosul assault, would do all it could to prevent the operation from deepening sectarian conflict on its borders.

"We will use all our resources to prevent our brothers in Syria and Iraq from being crushed under the wheels of global power games, and to keep us from suffering a similar fate," Erdogan said in a speech in Istanbul. "We are determined to deflate the balloon of sectarian conflict aimed at drowning the region in blood and fire."

, have been training Sunni Moslem and Kurdish Peshmerga units at the Bashiqa camp in northern Iraq, and want them to take part in the expected battle for Mosul. But their presence has sparked a row with the Shi'ite-led government in Baghdad, which is keen that its forces be at the forefront of the offensive.

The United States on Tuesday urged the two governments to resolve the spat, which could affect the planned U.S.-backed assault. It said any foreign forces in Iraq should be there with the approval of the Baghdad government and under the umbrella of the U.S.-led coalition fighting Islamic State.

"Turkey does not move on orders from others ... Turkey’s presence in the Bashiqa camp will remain until Mosul is rid of ISIS," Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Numan Kurtulmus told the state-run Anadolu Agency on Wednesday, using an acronym for Islamic State.

"Whoever the Mosul population is, Arabs or Turkmen, they have lived together for centuries and will continue to do so. If you change the ethnic structure here, the people there will not allow it ... This is our perspective as Turkey. Turkey’s force in the region cannot be questioned," he said.

Turkey's parliament voted two weeks ago to extend the deployment of an estimated 2,000 troops across northern Iraq by a year to combat "terrorist organizations" - a wording broad enough to refer to Kurdish turbans as well as Islamic State.

Iran Claims Broke Up Islamic State Bombing Plot Targeting Ashoura
[AnNahar] Iran broke up an Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
plan to bomb commemorations marking the Shiite religious mourning period of Ashoura, state media reported, the latest alleged bad boy plot to target the country.

Iran's official IRNA news agency quoted Intelligence Minister Mahmoud Alavi as saying several foreign nationals were detained with some 100 kilograms (220 pounds) of explosives. State television also reported the arrests.

Alavi said late Wednesday the suspects planned to attack Ashoura events in Iran's southern Fars province. Ashoura marks the death of Hussein, the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad, at the Battle of Karbala in present-day Iraq in the 7th century.

Alavi referred to the suspects as "takfiri
...an adherent of takfir wal hijra, an offshoot of Salafism that regards everybody who doesn't agree with them as apostates who most be killed...
terrorists," a term used by Iranian officials to describe bad boy Sunni Moslem fundamentalists like the Islamic State group.

"Intelligence Ministry agents, with the cooperation of other security forces, succeeded to defuse one of the anti-security plots of the 'takfiri' terrorist groups and prevent an inhuman crime in the ceremonies," he said.

There was no other information immediately released, though the arrest of foreigners on such charges is rare. Iran has helped Shiite militias fighting against the Islamic State group in Iraq, while also supporting embattled Syrian Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Scourge of Qusayr...
Alavi blamed Iran's foreign "enemies" for helping the Ashoura bombing suspects, without elaborating.

Iran in recent months has announced an increasing number of thwarted bad boy attacks. In June, Iran said it broke up one of the "biggest terrorist plots" ever on its soil by Sunni gunnies planning bombings in Tehran and elsewhere during the holy Moslem fasting month of Ramadan.

Iran increasingly has warned of possible bad boy assaults targeting the country, which hasn't seen large-scale attacks since the 1980s. Recently though, Iran has faced increased attacks from Kurdish separatists. Arabs in its southern, oil-rich region and Baluch murderous Moslems also launch occasional attacks.

Turkey dismisses over 100 military judges

Turkey has dismissed 109 military judges as part of the fight against the movement of Fethullah Gulen, who is accused of being involved in the July 15 coup attempt, the Turkish newspaper Haber 7 reported Oct. 13.

So far 259 military judges have been dismissed in the country as part of the fight against the Gulen movement.

Turkey suspends over 180 judges, prosecutors over FETO

Nearly 200 judges and prosecutors have been suspended from their duties for using a smartphone messaging app linked to the July 15 coup attempt, Turkey’s top judicial board announced Thursday, Anadolu reported.

A total of 184 judges and prosecutors have been temporarily removed from duty pending the conclusion of an investigation, the Turkish Supreme Board of Judges and Prosecutors (HSYK) said.

ByLock is said to have been used by members of the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO), which the government has said was behind the attempted takeover, which martyred 241 people and wounded nearly 2,200 others.

The app is believed to have been cracked by Turkish security agencies before the coup, prompting the plotters to switch to the WhatsApp messaging service but not before tens of thousands of FETO suspects had been identified.

Ranks of Kurd alliance swells with new recruits
[ARA News] Hasakah – A main brigade of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) joined on Thursday the ranks of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), a Kurdish-Arab alliance that has been fighting ISIS in northern Syria for more than a year.

In a press conference in Hasakah, the Free Officers Union announced deserting the FSA ranks and joining the Syrian Democratic Forces.

“We are now witnessing the gradual collapse of the Muslim Brotherhood-linked groups [in reference to FSA] after their cooperation with Turkey. Those groups have been fighting the Syrian people on behalf of Turkey. They’ve been implementing the Turkish agenda in Syria instead of fighting for the people’s freedom,” Deputy Chief of Free Officers Union, Hussam al-Awak, said in the conference.

“From now on we’ll be working together with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) to continue this revolution against terror and tyranny,” al-Awak said.

The Free Officers Union includes hundreds of fighters in different parts of Syria.

“We have forces in the Qalamoun region (in southern Syria) and different parts of the country’s northern region. We cannot provide further information about our upcoming operations and movements. We are in fight on different fronts, we’ll combat different radical factions,” al-Awak added.

Official spokesman of the Syrian Democratic Forces, Talal Silo, told ARA News that they have welcomed the new batch of FSA rebels in their ranks.

“Today’s press conference is held to announce the defection of a group of military leaders from the Free Syrian Army (FSA) after deep rifts in the FSA ranks about their agenda. Those leaders and their fighters, headed by Commander Hussar al-Awak, are joining our SDF ranks,” Silo said.

“This is the largest group of fighters joining our [SDF] ranks,” Silo told ARA News. “With the presence of those highly trained and professional military leaders and fighters, the Syrian Democratic Forces will continue its progress and liberate all areas held by ISIS terrorists. We are determined to eliminate ISIS on the Syrian soil.”

Rahami, an Afghan-born US citizen, has been hospitalized with gunshot wounds since a police shootout that led to his capture on Sept. 19 outside a bar in Linden. His head was propped up on pillows, while public defender Peter Liguori stood by his side wearing a disposable hospital gown and plastic gloves.

Rahami, 28, is charged with five counts of attempted murder of a police officer and weapons offenses. He was read his rights by Judge Regina Caulfield and answered "yes" in a faint voice to a series of questions she asked him.

Pakistan seeks bigger Saarc to counter India’s influence
[DAWN] Pakistain is exploring the possibility of creating a greater South Asian economic alliance to counter India’s controlling hold on the eight-member South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (Saarc), diplomatic observers say.

A parliamentary delegation from Pakistain, which is now in New York, pitched this idea during its five-day visit to Washington last week.

"A greater South Asia is already emerging," said Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed, in one of his interactions with the media. "This greater South Asia includes China, Iran and the neighbouring Central Asian republics."

He described the China-Pakistain Economic Corridor as the key economic route linking South Asia with Central Asia. The Gwadar port, he pointed out, would be the nearest warm water port, not only for China but also for the land-locked Central Asian states.

"We want India to join this arrangement as well," said Mr Hussain, an offer Indians are unlikely to accept as they are comfortable with the advantage that Saarc provides them.

Last month, India used its influence in Saarc to isolate Pakistain when it announced that it would not attend the regional group’s 19th summit, scheduled in Islamabad on Nov 15 and 16.

US urges Pakistan to shut down access to terrorists

...founder of Lashkar-e-Taiba and its false-mustache offshoot Jamaat-ud-Dawa. The United Nations declared the JuD a terrorist organization in 2008 and Hafiz Saeed a terrorist as its leader. Hafiz, JuD and LeT are wholly-owned subsidiaries of the Pak intel apparatus, so that amounted to squat...
on Pakistain, responded by saying, "I'm not going to dignify the comments of an avowed terrorist one way or the other."

He added, "We continue to work with Pakistain and continue to urge Pakistain to take steps to shut down access to areas inside their borders to terrorists, to terrorist individuals and to terrorist groups."

The US has previously also asked Pakistain to take action against militancy.

Earlier, during a State Department briefing in August, deputy spokesperson Mark Toner said, "We’ve been very clear with the highest levels of the government of Pakistain that they must target all Death Eater groups, and that includes those that target Pakistain’s neighbours, and they must also close all safe havens."

"We obviously believe that Pakistain needs to do all it can to confront all Death Eaters operating on its soil," he said, adding, "We’ve seen it make progress; we want to see more progress on its part."

PPP leader Aitzaz during a joint session of parliament last week was of the view that Pakistain was isolated because it gave freedom to non-state actors.

"The government has been completely unsuccessful in imposing restrictions on non-state actors according to the National Action Plan."

Arabia
40 (!) Iranian vessels found in Yemeni waters
Aden, Riyadh- High-ranking Yemeni sources told Asharq Al-Awsat that around forty Iranian warships violated on Wednesday Yemeni territorial waters. According to Yemeni government sources, there is a huge probability that these warships were smuggling weapons for the Houthis and transporting mercenaries from some African countries to join the insurgents.

“The Yemeni cabinet session, on Wednesday, discussed this issue and the way to protect Yemeni territorial waters; the government asked the Arab coalition forces to help guard the Yemeni waters and decided to address the U.N. and Security Council on the repeated violations by the Iranian warships,” reported the sources.

The Minister of Fisheries Wealth Fahd Salim Kafayen said that the violation of the Iranian warships was the second in one month, adding that the Yemeni naval forces lack capabilities to intercept them.

“The Iranian flags were not raised on the warships but their structure and matching with previous Iranian warships that were caught in the Yemeni waters, prove that they are Iranian warships,” Kafayen added.

These updates coincide with the Yemeni government’s efforts to submit to the U.N. Security Council a comprehensive file on the Iranian meddling in Yemen’s internal affairs.

On another level, forces loyal to the Yemeni government have advanced into the Houthi stronghold Sa’dah. Forces announced taking over Al-Buqah border following a quick operation which enabled them to purge the zone of rebels.

Sa’dah Governor Hadi Tarshan affirmed that Buqah border has been liberated and that the forces loyal to the government advanced dozens of kilometers towards Sa’dah.

Buqah is considered one of the major land borders of Yemen with Saudi Arabia, around 150 kilometers away from Sa’adah.

#4  April 19, 1988|LATimes. WASHINGTON — U.S. warships and aircraft sank or heavily damaged six Iranian navy ships Monday as a major confrontation erupted in the Persian Gulf in the wake of the United States' early morning strike against two Iranian oil platforms, the Reagan Administration said.

U.S. and Iranian forces fired on each other in the broadest and most direct conflict yet, suddenly escalating what for months had been a war of nerves in the volatile waterway.

After ordering U.S. naval units to destroy the oil platforms in the southern gulf, in what he described as a "measured response" to renewed Iranian mining of the gulf that damaged a U.S. frigate last week, President Reagan declared:

"We've taken this action to make certain the Iranians have no illusions about the cost of irresponsible behavior. We aim to deter further Iranian aggression, not provoke it."

Auxesis (Greek: αὔξησις, aúxēsis) is the Greek word for "growth" or "increase". In rhetoric, it refers to varying forms of increase: hyperbole (overstatement): intentionally overstating a point, its importance, or its significance. climax (ascending series): a series of clauses of increasing force.

Duterte challenges West to probe Philippines drugs war
Philippine leader Rodrigo Duterte called U.S. President Barack Obama, the European Union and United Nations "fools" on Thursday, and warned they would end up humiliated and outsmarted if they accepted an invitation to investigate his war on drugs.

Duterte said he was open to an outside probe by Obama, his Secretary of State John Kerry, the EU and the U.N. Commission on Human Rights into alleged extrajudicial killings, but on the condition that after he was questioned, he had the right to be heard.

"I'll play with you. I'm very sure they cannot be brighter than me. I will ask five questions that will humiliate you," Duterte said. "Watch out for that, it will be a spectacle."

Duterte's remarks came during a televised speech to hundreds of the country's business elite, during which he said it was necessary to cleanse the streets of drug pushers and rescue the next generation of Filipinos from the scourge of narcotics.

Duterte, 71, won the hearts of millions of Filipinos with his outrageous, at times comical speeches and man-of-the-people style in the run-up to a May election. He won by a huge margin after campaigning almost entirely on promises to wipe out drugs and crime.

Nearly 2,300 people have died in the war on drugs since the campaign started on June 30, according to police, of which 1,566 were drug suspects killed in police operations.

Police had previously said there had been more then 3,600 deaths, but have since concluded that many of that number were homicides and murders unrelated to illegal narcotics.

Opinion polls for Duterte's first 90 days in office suggest he remains popular, with a Pulse Asia survey on Wednesday showing he had the trust of 86 percent of 1,200 Filipinos surveyed.

Duterte said on Wednesday he had officially invited a United Nations special rapporteur on extrajudicial executions to investigate the drug killings.

Thursday speech was the latest among Duterte's frequent and furious rebukes of international critics of his drugs war, after they expressed concern about the unusually high death toll and circumstances of the drugs killings.

"These fools think (they can do anything) because the Philippines is a small nation," he said. "Maybe God gave you the money but we have the brains."

Clinton Backed Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood Regime
Talking points show Clinton called Morsi's election "milestone" for Egyptian democracy

"We stand behind Egypt’s transition to democracy," the heavily-redacted Clinton talking points state, adding that the only way to maintain a strong Egypt is "through a successful transition to democracy."

#2  The CIA asked the Muslim Brotherhood leaders to open a back channel to al Qaeda “to secure the safe exit of U.S. troops” from Afghanistan.

Additionally, another news outlet, Al-Marshad al Amni, reported that Maj. Gen. Abd-al-Hamid Khayrat, former deputy chief for Egyptian State Security Investigations said the CIA in January 2013 “asked for the help of the MB in Egypt to facilitate… the withdrawal from Afghanistan.” The Muslim Brotherhood agreed to become a “bridge” between the U.S. government and al Qaeda, Khayrat said.

The reports triggered widespread conspiracy theories in post-Morsi Egypt that the CIA was collaborating with Morsi and the Muslim Brotherhood to destabilize Egypt.

ISIS ignites oil fire block in Ninevah

(IraqiNews.com) Nineveh – The Spokesman of Patriotic Union of Kurdistan in Nineveh Province, Gayath al-Sourji declared on Thursday, that the Islamic State (ISIS) burned crude oil in trenches in the axis of Bashiqa and Khazer, northeast of Nineveh, in order to hinder the advance of the aviation that targets the group’s headquarters and positions.

Sourji said in a press statement, “This morning, ISIS burned crude oil, after putting it inside trenches in the axes of Nineveh, and the smoke covered the area’s sky,” pointing out that, “Each trench is 3 meters wide and 2 meters deep, and was used by ISIS to repulse the attacks launched to liberate Nineveh.”

“Fire broke out in the axis of Bashiqa and Khazer, northeast of Nineveh,” Sourji explained. “ISIS burned the oil to hinder the air strikes that targets the headquarters of the group in the province,” he added.

Large parts of Nineveh Province are controlled by ISIS since June 2014, and since then the province is witnessing mass executions, as well as tough humanitarian and security situations.

ISIS blocks four bridges near Mosul

“ISIS raised the state of alert in anticipation of any military assault to liberate the city,” Al Sumaria News added.

“The ISIS started to hire boys, after large numbers of its members left due to lessening their salaries. ISIS deployed nearly 175 militants in the left and right coasts of the province,” Al Sumaria explained.

Algeria Says Two Terrorists Killed in Army Operation
[AlManar] The Algerian army killed two armed and “dangerous” terrorists on Thursday in the Skikda region east of the capital, the defense ministry said.

Kalashnikov assault rifles and ammunition were seized during the operation in the Oued Zhour area of Skikda, the ministry said.

It identified the men only as Habbach, also known as Abou Doujana, and Benaldjia who went by the name of Abderrahman.

Algerian media named the first man as Saddek Habbach, the “emir” or leader in eastern Algeria of Jund al-Khilafa extremist movement which is linked to the jihadist ISIL group.

Jund al-Khilafa, or Soldiers of the Caliphate, has claimed responsibility for the abduction and murder two years ago in the Kabylie region east of Algiers of French mountain guide Herve Gourdel.

More than 100 suspected extremists have been killed in army operations in Algeria since the beginning of the year, according to an AFP count compiled from official statements.

LA Times Wants Rumored ‘Apprentice' Tape, Won't Release Obama-Khalidi Video
[TammyBruce] As reported by Breitbart and other Conservative news outlets, the LA Times is in possession of a 2003 video of Obama at the farewell party of radical Palestinian, Jew-hating Rashid Khalidi, and reportedly features vicious anti-Israel rhetoric. The LA Times, however, will not release the video.

But they sure are eager to get their paws hands on a rumored video of Donald Trump that might embarrass him.

Via Breitbart. The Los Angeles Times is in a state of high dudgeon over rumored video tapes from The Apprentice that might embarrass Republican nominee Donald Trump, but which cannot be released.

Since 2008, the Times has refused to release the video of then-State Sen. Barack Obama attending a retirement party for radical Palestinian activist Rashid Khalidi in 2003, which featured anti-Israel rhetoric. Now, however, the Times is devoting considerable attention to Trump videos that may not exist.

Yet no amount of persuasion or pressure -- not appeals to journalistic ethics, not the promise of a $100,000 reward -- could move the Times, for more than eight years, to release a video that revealed Obama's deep ties to anti-Israel activism, and that could have revealed whether he shared the anti-Israel hostility of those whose friendship and favor he cultivated in Chicago.

Caribbean-Latin America
Venezuela Supreme Court Consolidates Maduro’s Power
Venezuela’s Supreme Court has consolidated President Nicolás Maduro’s power with a decision that removes budgetary authority from the nation’s Congress, the only institution that is controlled by the opposition.
Hilary is taking notes...
The judges’ decision allows the court itself to approve Mr. Maduro’s budget, which he is expected to present by decree on Friday. The move caps a yearlong effort by the leftist government to use the courts, which are controlled by Maduro loyalists, to neutralize the Congress.
Hillary just sent email to Huma and Cheryl...
It could also forecast a more aggressive campaign by Mr. Maduro to derail the recall referendum.

Mr. Maduro came to power in 2013 upon the death of Hugo Chávez, the charismatic former army officer who founded Venezuela’s populist, leftist movement.
By which the NYT should say, "socialist", but that would require them to blame socialism for what happened next...
But after Mr. Maduro’s own election three years ago, the price of oil, which had financed Mr. Chávez’s many ambitious programs, went into a global tailspin. Since then, Mr. Maduro has presided over an economic collapse; food, medicine and electricity shortages; and rising crime.
All brought on by socialism, thuggery, and theft...
On Wednesday, the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean, a United Nations agency, forecast that Venezuela’s economy would shrink by 8 percent this year.

The ruling by the court’s constitutional chamber follows a raft of decisions against the opposition. The court has declared Congress in contempt and ruled that its laws are therefore unconstitutional. That dispute stems from the assembly’s decision to seat three legislators in defiance of another ruling by the court.
There's really only one way this is going to end, and it's going to be decided by bullets...
The courts also overturned an opposition law meant to stabilize the economy, limited lawmakers’ power to remove judges, and ratified an emergency decree that legislators had rejected.
The NYT approves...
In addition, judges invalidated a law that would have freed some 120 prisoners, many of them opposition politicians or activists jailed by the government during protests. The court’s initial onslaught against the assembly’s authority was a demoralizing blow to lawmakers who had taken power promising to free the prisoners immediately.

Key Helmand Officials Clash Over War Leadership
[Tolo News] A number of security sources told TOLOnews that a discussion between head of military operations in Helmand
...an Afghan province populated mostly by Pashtuns, adjacent to Injun country in Pak Balochistan...
, Abdul Jabbar Qahraman and police chief of the province, Aqa Noor Kintoz, has led into a verbal clash between the two key officials over the war leadership in the southern province.

The sources said Qahraman has warned the police chief that he will fired.

In a chat with TOLOnews, Qahraman rejected the allegations and assured that there is a good coordination among security forces in Helmand.

"Such arguments happen when there are challenges, especially in war and it is quite usual, but it does not mean that we do not have coordination. We do have coordination; even we are not disconnected one second from each other. But oppositions want to use this issue for their own interests," Qahraman said.

However,
a woman is only as old as she admits...
Helmand police chief refused to comment on the issue.

It is said that lack of cooperation, poor war management, appointment based on relationships and corruption in security agencies are the main reasons behind the increased insecurity in parts of the country.

"We [Helmand residents] urge the central government to pay the required attention to Helmand and send reinforcements here. Otherwise, the scenic provincial capital, police headquarter, local government buildings and other state offices will fall to the Taliban," said Mohammad Hashim Alokozay, member of Meshrano Jirga (Upper House of Parliament).

Meanwhile,
...back at the palazzo, Count Guido had escaped from his bonds and overwhelmed his guard using the bludgeon the faithful Filomena had smuggled to him in the loaf of bread...
Ministry of Defense (MoD) said dozens of forces of Evil have been killed so far and that festivities are ongoing in Nawa and Chah Anjir districts in the province.

"There is coordination among security forces. The head of operations is responsible for coordination among the soldiers and he is satisfied with the way we are working. Yesterday [Wednesday], we transferred supplies to Lashkargah by land and we reconstructed parts of the highway in Marjah. We ensured the safety of the areas," MoD's deputy front man Mohammad Radmanish.

Mohammad Nasir Mehri, a front man for Farah governor, confirmed the report, saying that Taliban Death Eaters were pushed back from the northern parts Farah city ‐ the capital city of the province.

Reports indicate that festivities between security forces and Taliban are ongoing for the past 10 days.

Earlier on Thursday, security forces launched a military operation against the Taliban in Baagh-e-Pul area in Farah city, where the Afghan and NATO helicopters reportedly targeted the holy warriors' hideouts.

Confirming the reports, Mehri said dozens of Taliban fighters were killed in the joint military operation conducted by Afghan and U.S forces.

Meanwhile,
...back at the Council of Boskone, Helmuth ordered the space pirate fleet to attack Zemblonia...
Farah police chief Gen. Toryalai Abdiyani said security forces have advanced in northern parts of the city.

"Taliban attacked police check posts on Thursday morning but were faced with heavy response by security forces. Currently, the Death Eaters have been pushed back from the northern parts of the city and the soldiers are chasing them," Abdiyani stated.

A number of reinforcements who have arrived at the province said they will not allow foreign Death Eaters to run over the province.

"I am here to defend my country. I will fight Punjabi hard boyz by putting my heart and soul into my duty," said Sher Ahamd, a police force member, who has newly arrived in Farah.

Farah governor Mohammad Asif Nang meanwhile assured residents of the province by saying that Taliban will not reach their goals and will be defeated by security forces.

"Taliban [militants] are trying to surround the city and finally take its control, but I assure you that they will not reach their nefarious ends," he added.

Arabia
Iranians continue arming Houthis
Washington– The U.S. Pentagon said on Wednesday that Houthi militias will pay the price for the recent missile attacks on the USS Mason off the coast of Yemen.

The Mason, a U.S. destroyer deployed in the Red Sea, was targeted by missiles off the southern coast of Yemen on Sunday. The destroyer reportedly fired defense missiles and employed countermeasures.

Pentagon spokesman Captain Jeff Davis told reporters on Tuesday that the U.S. was “looking very hard right now” at who was responsible for the attack, which he described as involving “a shore-launched cruise missile.”

He added that the U.S. was considering retaliatory strikes against “whoever is responsible for the recent missile attacks.”

The missiles were fired at the USS Mason from Houthi-controlled territory in war-torn Yemen, Davis said, adding that the guided-missile destroyer deployed “onboard defensive measures” and was undamaged.

“We will get to the bottom of this and we will make sure that anybody who interferes with freedom of navigation or anybody who puts U.S. Navy ships at risk does so at their own peril,” the Pentagon spokesman said.

It was obvious that Iran was delivering arms and artillery to Houthi rebels, he stated.

“The Houthis have said publicly before that they would target any ships in that area that were supporting the coalition against them,” Davis said, according to Reuters.

“So the facts certainly seem to point to it, but we are still assessing and we will have more for you,” he added.

United Nations appoints Portugal’s Guterres as next UN chief
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The 193-member United Nations
...boodling on the grand scale...
General Assembly unanimously appointed former Portuguese Prime Minister Antonio Guterres on Thursday as the ninth secretary-general of the world body for five years beginning Jan. 1, 2017.

Guterres, 67, will replace the ephemeral Ban Ki-moon, 72, of South Korea. Ban will step down at the end of 2016 after serving two five-terms. Guterres was Portugal's prime minister from 1995 to 2002 and UN High Commissioner for Refugees from 2005 to 2015.

Guterres pledged on Thursday to act as an "honest broker" and said he would take a humble approach in trying to deal with global issues, with human dignity at the core of his work.

"Diversity can bring us together, not drive us apart," Guterres told the General Assembly.

"We must make sure that we are able to break this alliance between all those terrorist groups or violent turbans on one side and the expressions of populism and xenophobia on the other side," he said. "These two reinforce each other, and we must be able to fight both of them with determination."

The 15-member UN Security Council last week unanimously recommended that the General Assembly appoint Guterres. He beat out 12 other candidates, seven of whom were women, amid a push for the first woman to be elected.

Guterres told the General Assembly that protection and empowerment of women and girls was a priority commitment. He has pledged to work toward gender parity within the United Nations.

"We have selected a candidate who is prepared to cut past the jargon and the acronyms and the sterile briefings and get real," US Ambassador Samantha Power told the General Assembly. "He knows the only measure of our work here is whether we are or are not helping and supporting real people."

Diplomats were now watching to see who Guterres appoints to senior UN positions amid speculation by diplomats and UN officials that China would like one of its nationals to head peacekeeping and that Russia is keen to lead political affairs.

Currently, a French man runs peacekeeping, an American man leads political affairs and a British man is in charge of humanitarian affairs.

A senior UN Security Council diplomat, speaking on condition of anonymity
... for fear of being murdered...
, said several people had insisted that Guterres did not do any deals to win Russia and China's votes.

"(Guterres is) the sort of person who will pick a strong team around him, appointment on merit," said the diplomat, adding that, while he had not heard it directly from any Chinese diplomats "it is clear (China is) making a significant challenge for the Department of Peacekeeping."

When asked earlier this month if Russia had an interest in one of the senior UN positions, Russia's UN. Ambassador Vitaly Churkin told news hounds: "We do believe that Russia should be properly represented in the Secretariat."

He did not specify which post, but added: "We are not the only ones who are expressing the interest in various positions."

Yemeni Army Hits Soddy Military Sites in Najran
[AlManar] The Yemeni army and popular committees pounded several Saudi sites in Najrarn with mortar shells and rockets, a security official told Saba on Thursday.

The national forces units fired mortar shells on enemy Saudi al-Maoka and Tala Sallah military sites and destroyed Saudi armored vehicle in al-Khmer military location.

The forces also fired two rockets, (AL-Sarkhah), on Saudi aggression gatherings of Saudi soldiers in Rajla military camp, leaving dozens of casualties.

Meanwhile, the rocketry forces of the army and popular forces, fired a number of Katyusha rockets on Saudi al-Fawaz military camp headquarters, as well Abu Hammden military mount, Nhoukha military site and military sites of al-Sudais, causing great losses among the enemy.

Ansarullah leader Sayyed Abdul Malek Badreddine al-Houthi commented on the US aggression on Yemen by stressing that the Yemenis have the right to defend themselves against any aggression and defeat the enemies.

A Yemeni military official on Thursday denied reports alleging that a US. warship was targeted off the Yemeni coasts from territories the army and popular forces control.

“These allegations are unfounded and the army as well popular forces have nothing to do with this action,” the official said in a statement received by Saba.

“The U.S. allegations just came in the context of creating false justifications to pave the way for Saudi-led coalition to escalate their aggression attacks against Yemen and to cover for crimes continually committed by the aggression coalition against the Yemeni people and to continue an all-out blockade after refusal stances have been increasing against such heinous crimes on the Yemeni people,” said the official.

He reaffirmed that they army and popular forces are in full readiness to confront any future aggression against the country under whatever justification.

7 executed in Mosul for spying

[ARA News] Erbil – Extremists of the Islamic State (ISIS) beheaded on Thursday seven civilians in the city of Mosul, after accusing them of spying for the Iraqi Army.

Local sources told ARA News that the ISIS-led Islamic Police, also known as Diwan al-Hisba, arrested seven men earlier on Wednesday on suspicion of leaking security information about the group’s movements in Mosul to hostile parties.

The Sharia Court said in a statement that the suspects were involved in communicating with Iraqi government officials and leaking confidential information about the locations of ISIS positions in Mosul.

“The arrested men were charged with treason, apostasy and spying for hostile troops. They were beheaded in front of hundreds of people in central Mosul on Thursday,” local media activist Abdullah al-Malla told ARA News.

in September on suspicion of supporting ISIS in a joint operation between the Israel Police and the Shin Bet.

Amongst other things, members of the group are suspected of trying to set fire to the local soccer stadium in order to prevent a concert scheduled for Eid al-Adha during a performance by one of the winners of Arab Idol which was to occur in Taybe. The suspects told Shin Bet Sherlocks that the arson attempt was inspired by ISIS ‐ meaning, they believe that live music is immoral and against Islam, thus violating the principles of the "Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
The three also planned to smuggle weapons from the Tulkarem area into Israel as part of preparations for "Judgement Day," in which the three believe they will fight infidels.

According to Islam, judgment day will begin when the "Armies of Rome" attack the "true believers" on the plains of the Syrian city of Dabiq. In the battle of the end of days, 5,000 "true believers" will gather on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem to fight off an anti-Messiah called the Dajjal. Jesus will come down and destroy the Dajjal, and lead the "true believers" to victory. The men wanted to smuggle the weapons in preparation for this battle.

The cell members planned to smuggle the weapons and fighters via a tunnel between the West Bank and Israeli territory under Ibrahim's house. The 15-meter-deep tunnel was uncovered and searched by IDF forces.

The three suspects were named as Ibrahim Halim Mahmoud Yusuf, Muhammad Tamim Kadar Nashaf and Amir Hakim Hafez Jabara.

During the course of the investigation, it was revealed that one of the suspects, Amir Jabara, was arrested by Turkish security forces in April 2016 after attempting to enter Syria via The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
to join ISIS. Ibrahim Yusuf made a similar attempt after building a homemade pedal-assisted glider to travel to Syria.

In Israel, any act of support for ISIS is a criminal offense and is severely dealt with by law enforcement.

Turkey Frees US Journalist who Fled Syria
[AnNahar] The Turkish authorities have released an American journalist detained for the last two months after she fled Syria claiming to have been kidnapped by jihadists, a senior US official said on Thursday.

Lindsey Snell is returning to the United States, the official said.

She was locked away
Book 'im, Mahmoud!
on August 6 for "violating a military zone" after she returned from war-torn Syria, where she said she had been filming civilians affected by air strikes.

Snell's Twitter biography identifies her as an Istanbul-based video journalist who has contributed to several western networks and news organizations including MSNBC, Vice News and ABC.

On Facebook, she describes herself as hailing from Daytona Beach, Florida and to have graduated from the University of Florida in 2005. She is a Moslem and wears a headscarf in pictures.

The Committee to Protect Journalists press freedom watchdog welcomed Snell's release.

"Lindsey Snell's release is a relief, but scores of journalists are still incarcerated
Drop the gat, Rocky, or you're a dead 'un!
in The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
," the New York-based group's Nina Ognianova said, adding that Turkish police had raided Snell's Istanbul apartment, confiscating a video camera, computers and other equipment.

"We call on Turkish authorities to return Snell's confiscated equipment, and to free all the journalists still behind bars in the country for doing their jobs."

Writing on Twitter before her arrest, Snell referred to having been kidnapped for 10 days by jihadists from the al-Nusra
...formally Jabhat an-Nusrah li-Ahli al-Sham (Support Front for the People of the Levant), also known as al-Qaeda in the Levant. They aim to establish a pan-Arab caliphate. Not the same one as the Islamic State, though .. ...
Front -- which has changed its name to Fateh al-Sham
...formerly al-Nusra, the current false nose and mustache of al-Qaeda in the Levant...
Front -- before escaping with the aid of a "brave man on a cycle of violence."

On her Facebook page, she said she had been able to document her time in captivity with her cellphone.

"It's a crazy story," she wrote.

"A cave prison (the previous tenant of my cell had marked his days in residence in blood on the walls), masked villains, cycle of violence escapes and disguises. I can't wait to share the details."

Snell was arrested as she crossed the border back into Turkey's southern Hatay province, which is located near Syria's Aleppo governorate -- currently the scene of fierce fighting between Russian-backed Syrian regime forces and rebel groups.

On her return flight to New York on Wednesday, Snell said she was concerned about her husband Suliman Wardak, who was also arrested in Turkey after traveling there to help with her case, The Guardian newspaper reported.

"They still have my husband. I don't feel free," the newspaper reported her as saying.

Boko Haram releases 21 Chibok girls to Nigerian government
[CNN] Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
bandidos snuffies handed over twenty-one Chibok schoolgirls to authorities Thursday after a series of negotiations, Nigeria's government said, in the first mass release of any of the more than 200 girls and women kidnapped from their school two years ago.

The twenty-one were freed before dawn in the northeastern Nigerian town of Banki, near the border with Cameroon
...a long, narrow country that fills the space between Nigeria and Chad on the northeast, CAR to the southeast. Prior to incursions by Boko Haram nothing ever happened there...
, a source close to the negotiations said on condition of anonymity.

A child born to one of the girls and believed by medical personnel to be about 20 months old also was released, according to the Nigerian president's office.

As many as 57 girls escaped almost immediately in 2014, and one was found this spring. Just under 200 remain unaccounted for after their release.
An Nahar adds:
Jihadist group Boko Haram has released 21 of the more than 200 kidnapped Chibok schoolgirls held since April 2014 in a prisoner swap deal with the Nigerian government, local sources said Thursday.

The girls were exchanged for four Boko Haram Death Eaters in Banki, northeast Nigeria
... a particularly crimson stretch of Islam's bloody border...
, said the local sources.

The Nigerian presidency said in a statement that the girls were released after negotiations between Boko Haram, the International Committee of the Red Thingy (ICRC) and the Nigerian and Swiss governments.

The statement added that negotiations are ongoing, raising the prospect of more releases.

US Slams Pakistan for Linking Afghan Peace to Kashmir
[Tolo News] The U.S on Wednesday dismissed the recent attempt over linking of peace in Afghanistan with resolution of Kashmire issue and defended India's "right to self-defense" after the recent attack on an Indian military base, Times of India reported.

The White House backed India's right to defend itself as with any other country, in view of the recent surgical strike but advised caution given the heavy militarization between the two neighbors.

"We certainly do not believe that the situation in Afghanistan is linked with Kashmire," the top White House official said.

It also said that that the US is making every effort to ensure that India becomes a member of the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG) by the end of this year.

Making a rare appearance before a Washington audience, Peter Lavoy, the White House's point person for South Asia, said that India-US ties are the "most dynamic relationship" for the US as he listed the B.O. regime's achievements in strengthening the relationship between the two largest democracies of the world.

"It was a clear case of cross-border terrorism. We condemned this act of terrorism. It was a horrific attack ‎ Every country has a right to self-defense. But in a heavily militarized relationship that has also experienced three wars, there is indeed a need for caution and restraint," he said responding to a question on the Uri attack.

"We share with India, the concern for preventing any future attack. We empathize with the Indian position that it needs to respond militarily to cross-border threat of terrorism. But we also advise caution," Lavoy said.

India and Pakistain have a "friction-filled relationship" and they have not found a way to overcome that, he said.

Last week, Lavoy met the two special envoys of Pakistain's Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif

on Kashmire.

The two Pak envoys in their public meetings had linked peace in Afghanistan to resolving the Kashmire issue.

Afghanistan
ARG Skeptical Over Pakistan's Crackdown Against Key Taliban Leaders
[Tolo News] The Presidential Palace (ARG) on Thursday raised doubts over reports published in Pak media that Islamabad has initiated crackdown against a number of high profile Afghan Taliban leaders residing in Pakistain.

Dawa Khan Minapal, President Ashraf Ghani
...former chancellor of Kabul University, now president of Afghanistan. Before returning to Afghanistan in 2002 he was a scholar of political science and anthropology. He worked at the World Bank working on international development assistance. As Finance Minister of Afghanistan between July 2002 and December 2004, he led Afghanistan's attempted economic recovery until the Karzais stole all the money. ..
's deputy front man expressed unawareness about the reports that could prove the credibility of the news, but advocated Islamabad for a swift handover of the Taliban inmates to Afghanistan.

"Pak government has not informed the Afghan government over its claims of arresting several Taliban members; therefore, Kabul
...the capital of Afghanistan. Home to continuous fighting from 1992 to 1996 between the forces of would-be strongman and Pak ISI/Jamaat-e-Islami sock puppet Gulbuddin Hekmayar and the Northern Alliance, a period which won Hek the title Most Evil Man in the World and didn't do much for the reputations of the Northern Alliance guys either....
cannot verify the credibility of the report," he said.

The statement comes a day after Pak officials announced that at least three senior Taliban leaders , including Ahmadullah Muti alias Mullah Nanai who served as Taliban's designated intelligence chief, Sulaiman Agha, Taliban's designated governor for Daikundi province and Mullah Sani, also known as Samad Sani, head of a religious school and a well-known Afghan businessman who have links with the Taliban, have also been taken into custody in Pakistain's southwestern Balochistan

province.

Pak media reported that Mullah Nanai was tossed in the calaboose
Drop the heater, Studs, or you're hist'try!
from a madrassa compound in Quetta city, the lovely provincial capital of Balochistan.

Mullah Nanai, who is originally a native of southern Kandahar province, has served in some key positions within the group. He worked as deputy head of the Beautiful Downtown Peshawar
...capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (formerly known as the North-West Frontier Province), administrative and economic hub for the Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan. Peshawar is situated near the eastern end of the Khyber Pass, convenient to the Pak-Afghan border. Peshawar has evolved into one of Pakistan's most ethnically and linguistically diverse cities, which means lots of gunfire.

governor in the Taliban regime (1996 to 2001).

Nanai also enjoys close ties with Haqqani network and was leading the Taliban war in the eastern regions of Afghanistan.

Commenting on the report, military analyst Jawed Kohistan
...a backwoods district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa distinguished by being even more rustic than is the norm among the local Pashtuns....
i said: "Internal disputes within the Taliban has led to the arrest of these members; however, from the figures, some of them have strong reputation among the Taliban in terms of financial issues and in culture perspective."

Previously, Pakistain launched similar crackdowns against a number of influential Taliban leaders in that country, including the dramatic detention of the group's top commander Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar. However,
women are made to be loved, not understood...
Pakistain never showed willingness to handover them to the Afghan government ‐ a move that raised serious questions on Pakistain's counter-terror policy.

"There are similar cases about the members of Tehrik-e-Taliban in Pakistain who were later murdered or detained, for instance Mullah [Abdul Ghani] Baradar, Mullah Obaidullah and similar individuals," said university lecturer Nasrullah Stanikzai.

According to reports, Pakistain is facing with increasing pressure from the international community over its controversial role in the war against terrorism.

Bilateral ties between Kabul and Islamabad have also strained over Pakistain's reluctance to target Taliban's hideouts in Pakistain, reports indicate.

Dostum Warns Soldiers Against Negligence
[Tolo News] First Vice President Abdul Rashid Dostum
...ethnic Uzbek warlord who distinguished himself fighting the Soviets and the Taliban. The story that he had a bad guy run over with a tank is an exaggeration. It was an armored personnel carrier...
on Thursday met with residents of Faryab and Sar-e-Pul provinces where he said any soldier that neglects in their duty will face legal action by relevant organizations.

"We implement the law on all the military personnel. No matter who they are. If they are police chief or head of security or anyone else, we ask them about the security situation and we have the authority to punish them," Dostum said.
Trust me, officer, you don't want Dostum unhappy with your policing tactics...
He stated he will eliminate the forces of Evil from Ghormach district in Faryab and then he will go to Kunduz ‐ where heavy fights are ongoing between Afghan forces and Taliban for the past two weeks.

"Taliban should be fully uprooted from Kunduz. I will not return to Kabul
...the capital of Afghanistan. Meanwhile,
...back at the Alamo, Davy was wondering if Buck was okay. He suspected he wasn't...
Dostum said Pakistain's Chief of Army Staff (Raheel Sharif
..Pak chief of army staff, meaning he pulls the strings on the Nawaz Sharif puppet to make it dance and sing and not do much at all....
) is behind the increase in insecurity in Afghanistan.

"Pakistain's chief of army staff, who is going to retire within the next few weeks, is behind the conflicts in Afghanistan. He orders the war and it is good that he is about to retire and someone else is going to replace him," Dostum stated.

Dostum's remarks on Pakistain come at a time that according to reports, Pakistain has recently tossed in the calaboose

Report: Hizbullah Group Arrested in Laundering Cocaine Money Through Miami Banks
[AnNahar] Three associates of Hizbullah
...Party of God, a Leb militia inspired, founded, funded and directed by Iran. Hizbullah refers to itself as The Resistance and purports to defend Leb against Israel, with whom it has started and lost one disastrous war to date, though it did claim victory...
party suspected of laundering cocaine money for the Colombian cartel have been busted after agents said they illegally moved $500,000 into Miami banks through a series of complicated financial transactions stretching from Australia to Europe, the Miami Herald reported.

Mohammed Ahmad Ammar, 31, is the main player who was living in Medellin, Colombia. He was imprisoned last week into a Miami-Dade jail to face state felony money laundering charges.

Two other Hizbullah associates are facing charges in the same case. One of them is in jug in Gay Paree, while the other is still on the lam, possibly in Leb or Nigeria, added the Miami Herald.

The involvement of radical Islamic terrorist groups in Latin American is not new but has increased in recent years, according to federal law enforcement and security experts, said the daily.

According to a congressional report on border security, Latin America has become a money laundering and major fundraising center for Hizbullah.

The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration announced in February an enforcement activity against people with links to Hizbullah, which came after the U.S. Department of Treasury announced sanctions against Hizbullah's financiers, whom they believe are capable of earning $400 million a year from drug trafficking and money laundering.

Hizbullah-related arrests stemming from Latin American have popped up before in South Florida, said the daily.

In 2008, a Lebanese man named Chekri Harb described by Colombian security officials as having links to Hizbullah was locked away
Don't shoot, coppers! I'm comin' out!
and convicted as part of a large-scale Colombian cocaine ring.

In 2010, three South Florida businessmen were arrested on accusations of of exporting video games and other electronic products to a shopping mall in Paraguay that allegedly served as a front to Hizbullah.

Ammar who is in jug in Miami, was described in court documents as a Hizbullah associate whose job was to launder money for the Colombian cocaine operation known as La Oficina, or The Office, an off-shoot of the notorious Medellin cartel.

He was known to launder money through Holland, Spain, the United Kingdom, Australia and Africa, according to an arrest warrant. Ammar is charged with eight felonies, including money laundering and conspiracy to launder money; court records do not list a defense attorney.

Ghassan Diab, another purported Hizbullah associate based in Nigeria who is still on the lam, is facing charges. He is related to a "high-ranking member of Hizbullah who has access to numerous international bank account."

The third accomplice facing charges is Hassan Mohsen Mansour of Hizbullah with dual Lebanese and Canadian citizenship. He is in jug in Gay Paree, and is facing a separate but similar federal money-laundering prosecution in South Florida, said the daily.

South Africa's Jacob Zuma seeks to block graft probe
[The Beeb] South African President Jacob Zuma has taken steps to prevent the release of a report into the alleged political interference by him and his supporters.

The public protector is due to release her preliminary findings on Friday. She has been examining allegations that Mr Zuma allowed a business family undue influence over his administration.

Ms Madonsela questioned Mr Zuma for four hours last week as part of her final investigation before her seven-year term tenure as public protector concludes this weekend. She has been hailed for her diligent work exposing official misconduct, including allegations that the president used taxpayers' money to build a cattle enclosure, amphitheatre, swimming pool, visitor centre and chicken run at his home in Nkandla.

South African media has quoted sources within Ms Madonsela's office as saying that her latest report cannot be released until a court has made an order in relation to Mr Zuma's request for it to be blocked.

On Monday, Mr Zuma asked her not to report her findings until he has been given an opportunity to question witnesses and review any evidence that implicates him.

"I can confirm that the president has applied for a court interdict," Mr Zuma's spokesman Bongani Ngqulunga told the Reuters news agency on Thursday.

The focus of Ms Madonsela's probe is on the Indian-born Gupta family, who are accused of using their close links with Mr Zuma to influence cabinet appointments. Although Mr Zuma and the Guptas insist they are innocent, correspondents say the allegations will do little to improve the tarnished reputation of the president, who was forced to repay part of the cost of the lavish upgrade to his private residence because of Ms Madonsela's inquiries.

The latest row adds to the pressure on Mr Zuma, whose government was reeling this week when prosecutors ordered Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan to appear in court in early November to face fraud charges. He denies any wrongdoing and says the charges are politically motivated.

Russia: ISIS fighters 'will be allowed to flee Mosul, retreat to Syria under US agreement.
[UK Daily Mail] The US is said to have agreed for the safe transfer of terrorists from Iraq to Eastern Syria on the premise ISIS militants fight Russian troops when they get there, a news agency has claimed.

The agreement is said to involve 9,000 extremists who will leave Mosul for eastern areas of the country to capture the cities of Dier ez-Zouer and Palmyra.

Its purpose, it is claimed by Russian news agency RIA Novosti, is that the White House hopes the ISIS militants will fight Russian troops in war-torn Syria.

The news agency reported that America and Saudi Arabia had come to an agreement to create a peaceful passage for ISIS fighters to leave Mosul for Syria before Iraqi government security forces begin their liberation of the city, according to Iraqi News.

Secretary General of Hezbollah Hassan Nasrallah yesterday accused The White House of trying to mobilize ISIS in the eastern region of Syria.

According to the anonymous diplomatic source, President Barack Obama has already sanctioned an operation to liberate Mosul, due to take place this month.

Ikea removes picture of 'Hitler boy' from store
[Wales Online] A picture hanging in an Ikea showroom in Cardiff has caused outrage by showing a young boy supposedly posing like Hitler.

Eagle-eyed Stevie Davies-Evans noticed the print in a bedroom showroom at the store on Monday. He was shopping for furniture when he spotted the allegedly offensive portrait hanging on the wall.

The print, in black and white, shows a child using his finger to pretend he has a mustache. The portrait was one of four pictures but the rest showed purportedly normal scenes like a young boy playing a guitar.

Davies-Evans said, "It was quite a shock when I saw it. I caught it by fluke. It was one of four pictures in a row above a bed and it just caught my eye. I thought it was a bit weird because that pose has such negative connations."

Stevie said he was reputably shocked it made it up onto the wall and noted that he would have not put it up if he was an employee. He said, "It takes some balls to put that up. It is borderline inappropriate."

The business development manager also expressed concern about the picture being displayed in a family store like Ikea. He said, "I've got an 11-year-old daughter and I wouldn't want her mimicking that. It probably wasn’t the best picture to put up."

Ikea Cardiff store manager Richard Owen said, "We can confirm that a photograph that could cause offense to some of our customers was found in our store. We often use photography to illustrate life at home in our room sets and as soon as we were made aware the image was immediately removed. We apologize for any offense the image may have caused."

Dozens dead after Turkish border bombing attack
[ARA News] Aleppo – At least 23 people were killed and dozens more wounded in a car bomb attack near the Syrian-Turkish border, local sources reported on Thursday.

The blast hit a checkpoint manned by rebels of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) at the Bab al-Salama border crossing. “Most of the casualties were rebel fighters,” media activist Zakariya al-Halabi told ARA News.

The targeted checkpoint was held by the FSA-led al-Shamiya Front.

“23 dead bodies were found subsequent to the attack. Also, over 20 others were injured,” al-Halabi reported.

Salih al-Zein, official spokesman of the al-Shamiya Front, told ARA News that the attack was most likely conducted by ISIS.

“We have been combatting ISIS terrorists in northern Aleppo for months. The attack on Bab al-Salama was most likely carried out by ISIS,” al-Zein said.

However, the Islamic State (ISIS) group has not issued any statements regarding the attack so far.

Kerry, Lavrov to resume Syria talks amid Aleppo row
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] US Secretary of State John F. I was in Vietnam, you know Kerry

...home of the Helvetians, famous for cheese, watches, yodeling, and William Tell...
on Saturday to discuss Syria, officials said on Wednesday, as a devastating bombing campaign of the city of Aleppo intensified.

The Syrian government launched an assault to capture rebel-held areas of Aleppo last month with Russian air support and Iranian-backed militias, a week into a ceasefire agreed by Washington and Moscow.

Kerry broke off talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov last week over the offensive, which has included air strikes on hospitals that the United States and La Belle France said amounted to war crimes for which Syria and Russia were responsible.

The Syrian and Russian governments blamed their foes for breaking the ceasefire and said they target only Lions of Islam in the city, the last major urban stronghold of the Western-backed rebels, where more than 250,000 people are trapped under siege.

The resumption of talks, despite the offensive, was a sign of the lack of options facing Western nations over the Syria conflict, where they worry scaled-up arms supplies for the rebels could end up in the hands of krazed killer groups.

Russia’s Foreign Ministry said Kerry and Lavrov would meet in the Swiss city of Lausanne to consider steps toward settling the conflict. The meeting was expected to include foreign ministers from The Sick Man of Europe Turkey

Police official shot dead in Karachi
A police officer was shot dead by unknown assailants on Thursday while he was travelling in a private vehicle in Karachi’s Korangi area.

“Assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Shahzad Akhtar, in charge of a police post in the R-Area of Korangi, left his post and was intercepted by two suspects on a motorcycle,” said Korangi SSP Nauman Siddiqui.

The senior police official added that the suspects snatched a mobile phone from the officer and then opened fire and fled.

The wounded police officer was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre and was announced dead on arrival, said Dr Seemin Jamali, head of the emergency services at JPMC.

Chief Minister Sindh has sought a report on the incident from Inspector General Police AD Khawaja.

DIG East Zone has be instructed to conduct an inquiry and submit a report regarding the incident.

1K Ethiopian prisoners sprung by guards
ADEN, Yemen: Around 1,000 Ethiopian migrants escaped a detention center in south Yemen on Wednesday with the help of their guards, a security official said.

The detainees broke out of the center, where some 1,400 Ethiopians were being held prior to deportation after entering the country illegally, in the province of Shabwa before dawn, he said.

The getaway in the provincial capital of Ataq was “well organized,” he added.

“The escapees boarded vehicles that were waiting for them to take them to the neighboring provinces of Marib and Bayda” in small groups.

Loyalists control most of Marib except for the oil-rich Sarwah area where they are fighting the rebels, while insurgents control Bayda.

Late last month, Yemeni authorities deported at least 220 African illegal immigrants, mainly Ethiopians, from the southern port city of Aden, security officials said.

Hundreds of Ethiopians have arrived in the south of Yemen in the past months despite the conflict between loyalist forces and Shiite rebels that has gripped the country for more than 18 months.

A Saudi-led coalition intervened in Yemen in support of President Abedrabbo Mansour Hadi’s government in March last year after the Iran-backed Houthis overran much of the country including the capital Sanaa.

Loyalist officials accuse the Houthis of recruiting to their ranks migrants who have entered the country illegally, but no independent source has confirmed this.

The rebels and their allies still control most of the Red Sea coast, as well as the capital and much of the central and northern highlands.

More than 6,800 people have been killed since the Saudi-led intervention began, almost two-thirds of them civilians, the United Nations says.
