DNC Campaign Bus Does Something Real $hitty
Sometimes, the headlines just write themselves...
LAWRENCEVILLE, GA (CBS46) -
Georgia's Environmental Protection Division is investigating after a witness spotted a Democratic National Committee tour bus apparently dumping human waste into a storm drain.

Lawrenceville police are also investigating the claim which surfaced on Tuesday, a photo shown to us by a CBS46 viewer showed a Democratic National Committee tour bus apparently making the dump between campaign stops.

CBS46 viewer Mike Robins, manager of a nearby business, took several photos of the tour bus dumping waste into the storm drain. In the pictures, a liquid can be seen coming from the bottom of the bus.

According to Robins, a hazardous materials crew responded to the location and collected the waste to keep more of it from entering the storm drain.

Afghanistan
Our generals failed in Afghanistan
[Foreign Policy] The United States military failed America in Afghanistan. It wasn’t a tactical failure. It was a failure of leadership.

The ascent of David Petraeus and the Army’s rediscovery of counterinsurgency doctrine led many to believe that the military had dramatically adapted itself for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Unfortunately the transformation was only skin deep. Petraeus was a myth, and the intellectual father of the Army only in the eyes of the national media. The institutional inertia of the military bureaucracy never caught up with the press releases. The result was a never-ending series of public pronouncements by senior leaders about the importance of counterinsurgency, accompanied by a continuation of Cold War-era personnel and rotation policies that explicitly short-changed the effort.

Upon taking command in Afghanistan in 2009, General Stanley McChrystal made the rounds of his subordinate units and asked each of us, "What would you do differently if you had to stay until we won?" At the time I was in charge of operations for a brigade in the middle of tough fight in eastern Afghanistan. It was absolutely the right question, but in retrospect it was also a trick question. The answer was to get the right people into the fight, keep them there long enough to develop an understanding of the environment, and hold them accountable for progress, but that was not something the military was interested in doing. Instead, we stuck with a policy that rotated leaders through the country like tourists.

Taking the lessons of unit cohesion from Vietnam, the military has followed a policy in Afghanistan where entire units rotate in and out of country every seven, nine, or 12 months. This model, more than the policy of individual rotation in Vietnam, ensures both tactical proficiency and unit cohesion at the soldier level. But it also is completely ill-suited for a counterinsurgency campaign. It makes sense to limit the time soldiers spend conducting tactical operations, but leaders attempting to establish the kind of relationships and understanding necessary to be effective in counterinsurgency must be kept in place much longer. By changing out entire units so frequently, our policy has guaranteed that military leaders rotating through Afghanistan have never had more than a superficial understanding of the political environment they are trying to shape.

The shortcomings of this rotation policy in counterinsurgency have been further reinforced by an institutional culture and personnel management system that places a low priority on the advisory mission. From the beginning of our efforts in Afghanistan the advisory mission was promoted publicly but given a low priority in execution.

The premier example of this mismatch between what military leadership said we were doing, and what the bureaucracy was actually prioritizing, can be found in the story of the AfPak hands program. The program was launched by the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, Admiral Mullen, and lauded as the key to shaping Afghanistan by creating a cohort of expert officers from across the services that would have the language skills and experience to build the kind of long-term relationships needed to build an effective Afghan security apparatus. While a priority for the Chairman, the effort was never embraced by the services.

Despite the fanfare and stated importance of the program, mismanagement and mis-utilization were rampant as this specialized cadre encountered personnel systems unable to support non-traditional career paths. Caught between career managers that saw the program as a deviation from what officers "should" be doing ‐ leading tactical units ‐ and a deployment system that often led to random staff assignments instead of partnered roles with Afghan leaders, the program quickly became known as an assignment to be "survived" if not avoided altogether.

A leaked briefing from the Army G-1, the service’s head personnel officer, to the Chief of Staff of the Army in 2014 confirmed that the AfPak Hands program had become a dead end for military careers. Officers who had participated in the program were being promoted at a fraction of the rate of those who had not. There are only two explanations for this outcome: Either the Army was sending sub-par officers to serve in the program, or officers were being punished for deviating from the traditional career track. Whichever it was, both explanations reveal that the effort to train and advise the Afghans was simply not a priority for the Army.
Con't.

Of course we wouldn't expect Foreign Policy magazine to make mention of that subtle fact.

#3  It strikes me that in general no one had a clue what victory would look like. To P2k's point the Mongols didn't have that problem.

If you want to try and set up the remainder to take care of themselves you first have to make sure that there is ONLY the remainder.

When was the last time that we sent in our troops with an explicit goal and vision of victory?

Brexit Betting Pattern Looks Like Trump's Betting Pattern
Remember all the dire predictions that were going to happen if Britain decided to pull out of the EU, including the start of World War III? Nothing happened, other than a panic drop in the British market and pound sterling, both of which recovered within a few weeks after the vote.
I did, in fact, note this leading up to the Brexit vote - the betting pattern leading up to the vote was for Britain to remain - a few big money bets for remain (Bremain, whatever) and a numeric majority of the small bets for Brexit, which is how the actual vote panned out.
We are now seeing the same pattern playing out during the last month of the US election - dire predictions of Trump the Next Hitler becoming president, a relentless media push to demonize and demoralize Trump supporters (as noted by Steve White in an earlier post), and the same betting pattern that we saw a mere four months ago with Brexit. If you also take into account massive attendance for Trump at his rallies and scant attendance at Hillary campaigns, I cannot believe any of these polls are accurate, as much as they oversample Dems to get their desired result. If this pattern holds, and Trump does well tonight, Trump wins this thing.

[Independent] It is news that will strike fear into the hearts of perhaps half of America and large chunks of the world outside of it.

Despite a calamitous week of campaigning, betting markets on the US election are almost a mirror image of those on Britain’s EU referendum at this stage. And they could be pointing to a victory for Donald Trump.

Bookmaker William Hill says 71 per cent of the money so far staked is for Democrat Hillary Clinton. But 65 per cent of the bets by number are for the controversial Republican.

That means a lot more punters are putting smaller bets on Trump, almost exactly the same pattern as was seen in the run up to the Brexit vote when the money was for Remain but the majority of bets were for Leave.

The bookie has cut the odds on a Trump victory from 11-2 to 4-1 over the past two days in response to a surge in bets for the reality TV star and businessman turned politician.

#2  It's interesting. With all the posturing there's been around the world on the subject, they will be scrambling should Mr. Trump be the winner...which will give President Trump a very strong negotiating position when dealing with them*. Actually, it will give President H. Clinton s stronger hand at first, too, simply for not being him, but I expect she'll drive her husband nuts when she doesn't use that edge properly.

* He and Bibi Netanyahu should get on like a house afire as they speak the same language -- Bibi with his Harvard MBA and architecture MS and Donald with his from Wharton and experience in the hospitality business -- but the Israeli Left and the Arab List politicians will find themselves even farther in the wilderness than they are now.

CNN Cuts Another Mic As Congressman Mentions Wikileaks
Via Drudge. Yeah, I know it's Infowars, but this is at least the fourth time this campaign season CNN's done this. They don't call it the Clinton News Network for nothing.
During an appearance on CNN this morning, Congressman Chris Collins’ satellite feed was cut as soon as he began talking about Wikileaks.

Host Chris Cuomo asked Collins what he thought Trump could do in tonight’s debate to prove he was fit for office. However, the Congressman went off script.

"Two thirds of the public know that Hillary Clinton’s a liar, she can’t be trusted and now the two faces of Hillary are coming out ‐ the fact through Wikileaks she says one thing and...."

The feed is then immediately cut.
The message got out. All the rest was detail, and cutting off his mic underlined it.

Record 64.7 Million U.S. Residents Speaking Foreign Language at Home
[Breitbart] A record one-in-five U.S. residents speak a foreign language at home, with the fastest-growing languages including Arabic and Urdu, a new study reveals.

The Center for Immigration Studies, surveying data the Census Bureau released from its 2015 American Community Survey, found 64.7 million U.S. residents spoke a language other than English at home, with data indicating that one-in-four public school students speaking a foreign language at home.

This has huge implications for the future of public education in the United States. As Breitbart News previously reported, American taxpayers carry the costs of educating nearly four million foreign-born students who do no speak English. Most of the non-English speakers in American schools perform at extremely low levels while costing taxpayers roughly $59.8 billion per year:

Fmr. Agent: Some in Secret Service See Hillary as 'Unique, Extraterrestrial Threat to Republic'
[Fox Insider] According to new FBI documents, one of Bill Clinton's secret service agents helped maintain Hillary Clinton's private email server, Martha MacCallum reported.

"People on the inside [of the secret service] have told me that they really see this woman [Hillary Clinton] as a very unique threat to our republic," former secret service agent and former Congressional candidate Daniel Bongino said on America's Election HQ.

"This story...is totally against the rules [and] totally unsurprising to me," he said.

Bongino also responded to another missive mentioned by MacCallum, which said Clinton apparently refused to ride in a vehicle with the leader of a country she was visiting, instead requesting to be accompanied by her top aide Huma Abedin.

Iraqi refugee admits terrorist intentions in black eye for Obama's resettlement program
[Wash Times] A man who came to the U.S. as a refugee from Iraq admitted in court papers Monday that he taught himself to build detonators for improvised explosive devices, trained to use automatic rifles and plotted to sign up as a martyr for the Islamic State group.

Omar Faraj Saeed Al Hardan’s case is a black eye for the Syrian refugee program, which officials said they modeled on the Iraqi program, using lessons learned to create the vetting system that President Obama and other top officials have promised would weed out terrorists.

But Al Hardan managed to get into the U.S. in 2009 as a teenager after spending time in refugee camps in Jordan and Iraq. Two years after he arrived, he was granted a green card by the Obama administration and quickly began to plot to join one of the terrorist networks fighting in the Middle East.

Federal agents sniffed him out in 2014 and had an informant make contact with him, observing Al Hardan take a loyalty oath to the Islamic State and train with an AK-47 rifle. He agreed to plead guilty to one terrorism charge and will be sentenced in January.

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, the agency that approved Al Hardan’s refugee application, said it wouldn’t comment on his specific case, but insisted it is taking steps to weed out terrorists.

Clinton Foundation's Ties To Suspected Human Organ Trafficker
[Daily Caller] The Clinton Foundation invited the prime minister of Kosovo to the 2011 Clinton Global Initiative annual meeting knowing full well that he had been implicated in a human organ trafficking scheme as leader of the Kosovo Liberation Army in the late 1990s.

"What are USG views on WJC inviting former Kosovo PM [Hashim] Thaci and the current PM to CGI?" Clinton Foundation foreign policy adviser Amitabh Desai wrote in an Aug. 17, 2011 email to several top Hillary Clinton State Department officials.

"Is Thaci still embroiled in organ harvesting issues and is that of consequence?" Desai asked in the email, which the State Department recently released to Citizens United.

Desai clarified in a follow-up email that Thaci was actually prime minister at the time. He now serves as president of Kosovo.

[Free Beacon] The Obama administration has confirmed a large surge of illegal immigrants along America's southern border less than a month before the presidential election that has thrust the issue onto the national stage.

Dem Operative Who Oversaw Trump Rally Agitators Visited White House 342 Times
[Daily Caller] A key operative in a Democratic scheme to send agitators to cause unrest at Donald Trump’s rallies has visited the White House 342 times since 2009, White House records show.
Let's face it Bob, Terre Haute is your real home.
Robert Creamer, who acted as a middle man between the Clinton campaign, the Democratic National Committee and "protesters" who tried -- and succeeded -- to provoke violence at Trump rallies met with President Obama 47 times, according to White House records. Creamer’s last visit was in June 2016.

Creamer, whose White House visits were first pointed out by conservative blog Weasel Zippers, is stepping back from his role within the Clinton campaign.

Hidden camera video from activist James O'Keefe showed Creamer bragging that his role within the Clinton campaign was to oversee the work of Americans United for Change, a non-profit organization that sent activists to Trump rallies.

Looks like he stuck around the WH for some of that beef tenderloin layered with bresaola (air dried salted beef), cheese, parsley, garlic and breadcrumbs.

#4  Jan Schakowsky's* (D-Commie, Chicago) Husband

From his Wiki page:
"Bank fraud and tax evasion convictions

On March 11, 2004, Creamer, the executive director of the Illinois Public Action Fund, was indicted in federal court on 16 counts of bank fraud involving three alleged check-kiting schemes in the mid-1990s, leading several banks to experience shortfalls of at least $2.3 million.[4] In August 2005, Creamer pleaded guilty to one count of failure to collect withholding tax, and bank fraud for writing checks with insufficient funds. All of the money was repaid. Schakowsky was not accused of any wrongdoing.[5] Schakowsky served on the organization's board during the time the crimes occurred,[6] and Schakowsky signed the IRS filings along with her husband.[7] The U.S. district judge noted no one suffered "out of pocket losses," and Creamer acted not out of greed but in an effort to keep his community action group going without cutting programs, though Creamer paid his own $100,000 salary with fraudulently obtained funds.[8] On April 5, 2006, Creamer was sentenced to five months in prison and 11 months of house arrest.[9] Creamer served his five-month incarceration at the Federal Correction Institute in Terre Haute, Indiana and was released on November 3, 2006.[10]"

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Indonesia castration law 'will wipe out paedophilia'
[BBC] Indonesia could "wipe out" paedophilia with its new policy of chemical castration, President Joko Widodo has told the BBC.

He said Indonesia respected human rights but there would be "no compromise" when it came to punishing such sexual crimes. Indonesia passed controversial laws earlier this month authorising chemical castration for paedophiles.

The laws were subject to fierce debate in parliament. The Indonesian Doctors Association says its members should not be involved as the procedure would violate medical ethics.

"Our constitution respects human rights, but when it comes to sexual crimes there is no compromise," President Widodo said. "We are strong and we will be very firm. We will hand out the maximum penalty for sexual crimes."

He added: "In my opinion... chemical castration, if we enforce it consistently, will reduce sex crimes and wipe them out over time."

#6  I looked it up -- it appears chemical castration is not permanent, but requires regular, doctor-administered injections. Indonesia is a Third World country. There is no way to guarantee that the doctor will not be bribed to lie about having given the shot, or that the patient will not choose not to go in for his next dose, or that the delivered dose is not just tap water (or worse) in the container instead of the prescribed medication.

#7  That's why I recommend the Callicrate Smart Bander.

The Callicrate Smart Bander is a humane castrating tool for any size offender. Extra-strong Callicrate loops are produced using a special latex formula that is over three times stronger than pre-made latex rings. Patented no-slip clip holds the tension for immediate and total blocking of the blood vessels, for faster scrotal drop with less pain and swelling. Because each loop is ratcheted to the precise tightness required, each use provides a custom fit. Spring loaded indicator senses proper tightness. Scrotum should fall off in 20 to 35 days. Vaccinate with tetanus toxoid according to label directions. Callicrate Bander Kit comes with bander, 5 loops, cutter, and carrying case.

Police: Congo Chicago Teen Found Dead in Trash Can Was Burned Alive
[Breitbart] A medical examiner ruled the death of a 15-year-old boy burned alive in a Chicago alley a homicide Monday, The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office reported.

Firefighters responding to a garage fire in the Austin neighborhood of Chicago found the body of Demetrius Griffin, 15, burned to death, WPVI reported.

Autopsy results showed Griffin died of thermal injuries due to a fire started in the garbage can, which authorities says means he was alive when the fire started.

Polly Sykes, the victim's mother, asked the community's help in finding the killer.

Voter Fraud in Tarrant Country Texas puts 2 Democrats in Office
The (Texas) Secretary of State has referred to the voter fraud evidence as "voluminous." The complaint contained over 1,500 pages of documents. And while the complete document is not yet public, one thing [is] clear--political operatives inside Tarrant County have illegally forged thousands of signatures on ballot-by-mail applications and carrier envelopes over the last four years.

At least two local officials are in office as a result of the voter fraud uncovered; State Rep. Ramon Romero Jr. (D-Fort Worth) and Fort Worth Mayor Pro Tem, Sal Espino (D).

Espino won his race by a twenty-six vote margin in an election in which 450 votes were fraudulently harvested in that district alone. Romero won his seat by a 110 vote margin in a race that was similarly impacted by voter fraud.

Democrats stealing elections in a heavily Republican area in Texas. It can happen. And its a fact, not a conspiracy theory.

Smithsonian on Why Clarence Thomas is Not in New Afri-American Museum: ‘We Cannot Tell Every Story'
(CNSNews.com) ‐ The new Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of African American History and Culture’s tagline is "powerful moments in African American history, culture, and community." However, the museum ‐ with a $540 million price tag funded 50 percent by U.S. taxpayers and with a collection of more than 36,000 artifacts and 100,000 people represented ‐ doesn’t include many prominent blacks, including Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas and Edward Brooke, a Republican who became the first African American to be elected to the U.S. Senate by popular vote in 1966.

After touring the new museum and exploring the website, which contains information on all the exhibitions in it, CNSNews.com asked the Smithsonian why Thomas, Brooke and eight other prominent men and women are not included in the museum.

CNSNews.com asked: "Many prominent African Americans are not included in the museum, most notably Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas ... Can [the institute say] why Thomas and the others listed below are not a part of the museum exhibits?"

Linda St. Thomas, chief spokesperson for the Smithsonian, replied:

"There are many compelling personal stories about African Americans who have become successful in various fields, and, obviously, Associate Justice Thomas is one of them," St. Thomas said in an email. "However, we cannot tell every story in our inaugural exhibitions.
Con't.

More chum for the police haters and civil rights attorneys
[Police - LE Magazine] IACP President Apologizes for Law Enforcement's 'Historical Injustices'

BLUF: There have been times when law enforcement officers, because of the laws enacted by federal, state, and local governments, have been the face of oppression for far too many of our fellow citizens. In the past, the laws adopted by our society have required police officers to perform many unpalatable tasks, such as ensuring legalized discrimination or even denying the basic rights of citizenship to many of our fellow Americans.

While this is no longer the case, this dark side of our shared history has created a multigenerational--almost inherited--mistrust between many communities of color and their law enforcement agencies.

Hillary's A Switch Hitter
To the surprise of nobody...
Hillary Clinton is a secret sex freak who paid fixers to set up illicit romps with both men AND women!

That’s the blockbuster revelation from a former Clinton family operative who is sensationally breaking ranks with his one-time bosses to speak to The National ENQUIRER in a bombshell 9-page cover story -- on newsstands Wednesday.

"I arranged a meeting for Hillary and a woman in an exclusive Beverly Hills hotel," the man, who was hired by the Clintons, via a Hollywood executive, to cover up their scandals, told The ENQUIRER.

"She had come to the studio to see the filming of a movie in 1994."

"While I was there, I helped her slip out of a back exit for a one-on-one session with the other woman. It was made to look casual, leaving quietly [rather] that being caught up in the melee ... but really it was for something presumably more sordid."

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Iran formally imprisons two dual-citizen American hostages
Filed on Page 2: WoT Background, because this is not a considered sentence for a committed crime, but merely the inevitable next step in a dreary dance.
[IsraelTimes] Businessman Siamak Namazi and father Baquer Namazi sentenced to 10 years

An Iranian-American businessman and his father have been sentenced to 10 years in prison in Iran, a state-run judicial news agency reported Tuesday, the latest dual nationals imprisoned since the nuclear deal.

The announcement by the Mizan news agency came a day after it released footage of businessman Siamak Namazi, a sign of the power still wielded by hard-liners in the Islamic Theocratic Republic.

The Mizan report said Namazi and his father Baquer Namazi, a former UNICEF representative who once served as governor of Iran’s oil-rich Khuzestan province under the US-backed shah, were convicted of "cooperating with the hostile American government." It did not elaborate.

Supporters of the Nazamis could not be immediately reached for comment. The US State Department did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The report also said Nizar Zakka, a US permanent resident from Leb, also received a 10-year prison sentence. His supporters had earlier told The News Agency that Dare Not be Named about the sentence, though the Mizan report was the first official Iranian report of it.

The report also said two others had been convicted as well, without naming them or identifying their nationalities.

Iran does not recognize dual nationalities, meaning those detained cannot receive consular assistance. In most cases, dual nationals have faced secret charges in closed-door hearings in Iran’s Revolutionary Court, which handles cases involving alleged attempts to overthrow the government.

The Namazis were not released as part of a January deal that freed detained Washington Post journalist Jason Rezaian and three other Iranian-Americans in exchange for pardons or charges being dropped against seven Iranians.

That deal also saw the US make a $400 million cash delivery to Iran.

Analysts and family members of those detained in Iran have suggested Iran wants to negotiate another deal with the West to free those held. In September, Iran freed a retired Canadian-Iranian university professor amid negotiations to reopen embassies in the two nations.

US demands Tehran free jailed Iranian-American and father

[IsraelTimes] The United States is demanding the release of an Iranian-American businessman and his 80-year-old father who were handed tough sentences in Tehran on espionage charges.

“We are deeply concerned about reports that US citizens Siamak Namazi and Baquer Namazi have each been sentenced to 10 years in prison,” State Department spokesman Mark Toner says in a statement. “We join recent calls by international organizations and UN human rights experts for the immediate release of all US citizens unjustly detained in Iran, including Siamak and Baquer Namazi, so that they can return to their families.”

Siamak Namazi, a well-connected business consultant who has supported reformist politicians in Iran, was arrested as he arrived in Tehran a year ago. His father, Baquer, was detained in February when he came to Iran to seek his son’s release.

The US also expressed concerns about reporters of the “declining health” of the elder Namazi.

Afghanistan
Hundreds pick arms in support of Dostum in Jawzjan after Taliban ambush
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] Hundreds of supporter the First Vice President General Abdul Rashid Dostum
...ethnic Uzbek warlord who distinguished himself fighting the Soviets and the Taliban. The story that he had a bad guy run over with a tank is an exaggeration. It was an armored personnel carrier...
picked up arms to declare support following a bushwhack by the Talibs in Faryab province.

The supporters of Gen. Dostum chanted support for the First Vice President and announced their support to counter the Taliban-led insurgency in the northern parts of the country.

Photographs emerging from Jawzjan purportedly shows hundreds of men armed with assault rifles and machine guns as they gather and march in the province to support the Vice President.

The Talibs ambushed Vice President Dostum as he was accompanying a convoy of the security forces on the way to Ghormach district that fell to Taliban control last week.

Initial reports indicated the First Vice President sustained a minor injury in the attack as it was confirmed by CEO Abdullah but the office of the Chief Executive released a statement late on Monday and said Gen. Dostum did not suffer any injury, emphasizing that CEO Abdullah made the remarks during the Ministers’ Council meeting based on inappropriate and initial reports.

This is not the first time Gen. Dostum has came under attack by Talibs or has escaped liquidation plot by the group.

Gen. Dostum first joined the Afghan cops in the frontline in northern Faryab province earlier in the month of August last year where he survived at least two liquidation plots by the anti-government armed holy warrior groups while he was leading counter-terrorism operations.

Initially his convoy was ambushed by the Taliban in Death Eaters in Qaisar district in mid August 2015 while another plot to assassinate him was thwarted by the security forces and his special security guards few days later.

At least three jacket wallahs were tossed in the clink
Book 'im, Mahmoud!
from the vicinity of Gen. Dostum’s residence in Qaisar district in connection to the attack plot last year.

UNAMA Human Rights Special Report on attack on Hazaras demonstration in Kabul
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The fundamental human rights
...which are usually open to widely divergent definitions...
of all Afghans must be respected, including the rights of religious and ethnic communities, said UNAMA in a Human Rights special report released today on the 23 July 2016 attack in Kabul
...the capital of Afghanistan. Home to continuous fighting from 1992 to 1996 between the forces of would-be strongman and Pak ISI/Jamaat-e-Islami sock puppet Gulbuddin Hekmayar and the Northern Alliance, a period which won Hek the title Most Evil Man in the World and didn't do much for the reputations of the Northern Alliance guys either....
that killed 85 civilians and injured more than four hundred.
Yes. A special report from a UN agency should put a stop to that sort of thing, by Gum!
The report, entitled "Attack on a Peaceful Demonstration in Kabul, 23 July 2016," reviews the challenging context of the demonstration, the planning and preparedness of Afghan Security Forces, their behavior during the demonstration and immediate response to the attack and its aftermath. It raises, where relevant, human rights concerns for the Afghan authorities. The report also discusses the risk mitigation measures that were taken by the Afghan Security Forces and demonstration organizers. It is not intended to replace the Government’s own criminal investigation into the incident.

A protest body known as the ’Enlightening Movement’ organized a large-scale peaceful demonstration in Kabul on 23 July, at the end of which two jacket wallahs detonated their explosives’ belts against the demonstrators, the second one misfired and the attacker was shot by Afghan Security Forces. Almost all of the casualties were male and from the Hazara community which is predominantly Shia Moslem.

The report concludes not only that the 23 July attack deliberately targeted civilians with the apparent aim of spreading terror amongst the civilian population but also was a serious violation of international humanitarian law, which may amount to a war crime. The attack was the deadliest single civilian casualty incident in Afghanistan since UNAMA started its civilian casualties documentation in 2009.

The report notes that the attack appears, disturbingly, to have deliberately targeted persons belonging to a specific ethnic and religious community. ISIS, also known as Islamic State

, grabbed credit for the attack, employing language that advocated religious hatred and violence. The attack also had a serious negative impact on the demonstrators’ rights to freedom of opinion and expression, as well as peaceful assembly.

The release of the report comes at a time of mounting concern at an emerging pattern of sectarian violence attributed to ISIS. On 11 and 12 October, two separate attacks against Shia congregations commemorating Ashura in Kabul and in the northern province of Balkh killed at least 35 civilians and injured more than 100. ISIS issued an online statement claiming responsibility for the October attack in Kabul using language similar to that used in the claim for the 23 July attack.

UNAMA offers recommendations in its report to promote respect for the fundamental human rights of all Afghans, including the rights of religious and ethnic communities, as well as the need for the completion and implement of a strategy to prevent violent extremism.

The Mission reiterates that international humanitarian law prohibits deliberate attacks against civilians and civilian property, including places of worship.

A Russian air battalion led the way tonight, targeting the Islamic State's positions inside the Deir Ezzor Governorate.

The Russian attack was followed by a series of Syrian Arclight airstrikes at the al-Hawiqah District of Deir Ezzor; this resulted in the destruction of 5 Islamic State vehicles, including 1 bulldozer and tank.

In addition to the attack on Deir Ezzor, the Syrian and Russian air force struck the Islamic State's defenses at the al-Sha'er Oil Fields, paving the way for another Syrian Army advance near Well 101.

The Russian and Syrian air forces conducted over 55 Arclight airstrikes above eastern Syria tonight, killing dozens of Islamic State combatants in the process.

The ISIS leader was identified by the Lebanese intelligence services as 'Imad Yassine, a top ranking member of the terrorist organization that was operating inside the 'Ayn Hulwe Refugee Camp in Saida (Sidon).

On Tuesday, the Lebanese Security Forces released information regarding his planned attacks against the Lebanese people.

According to a military communique, Yassine was planning terrorist attacks at several petrol stations in al-Zahrani, the electronic station in al-Jiyah, al-Jadeed TV building, Monday Market in Nabatiyeh, KFC restaurant in Jounieh, and the casino in Jounieh.

Yassine also confessed to killing at least 8 people in Leb, while also participating in 5 terrorist attacks in the 'Ayn Hulwe Camp.

#1  In July Yassine received orders from IS foreign operations chief Abu Khaled al-Iraqi to initiate "Iraq-like bombings" across Lebanon.

Yassine had operated without hindrance from Ain el-Hilweh camp, Lebanon's most notorious haven for Islamist extremists. By "long-standing convention", the Lebanese army does not enter the twelve Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon. Thus Palestinian factions handle their own security. Ain itself is home to more than 54,000 registered Palestinian refugees who have recently been joined by untold thousands of Palestinians fleeing Syria.

According to an al-Masdar correspondent in Damascus, the Russian Air Force inflicted heavy damage on the jihadist defenses, destroying at least 5 armored vehicles (3 technical vehicles and 2 BMPs) outside Jabhat Fateh al-Sham's headquarters in the village of al-Ghajjar.

The Russian Air Force conducted these Arclight airstrikes in retaliation to Jabhat Fateh al-Sham's assault on the al-Zara Thermal Power Plant that is under the Syrian Arab Army's (SAA) control.

Despite these latest Arclight airstrikes, the northern Homs front is still relatively static, as both the Syrian Armed Forces and jihadist rebels have been unable to advance.

This comes as at least one person was killed and two others were maimed in a similar incident in Karte Naw area of the city on Friday.

The security officials in Kabul said the bomb was planted in a vehicle belonging to the traffic police and a driver of the traffic department was killed.

The officials further added that two civilians were also maimed in the kaboom and the Ranger vehicle was destroyed.

Earlier, back to back coordinated attacks rocked Kabul city, leaving at least 18 people dead and scores of others maimed.

The first incident took place in a shrine in Karte Sakhi area of the city on Wednesday night as hundreds of people had gathered to mark the Ashura day.

The second incident took place hours after the first blast after a number of gunnies stormed a mosque where the Ashura mourners had gathered.

Afghanistan
Afghans To Hit Taliban's Strongholds In Winter As War Rages On
Ministry of Defense (MoD) on Tuesday said Afghan security forces have plans to gear up their anti-terror campaign in winter against militants' traditional strongholds in certain regions across the nation aimed at clearing areas under Taliban' control.

"We are working on the ongoing Shafaq Operation to clear all areas under the control of insurgents during [upcoming] winter," the Defense Ministry spokesman Dawlat Waziri said.

It is said that Taliban's recent military shifts and government's failure of tackling the group drawn strong criticism from the Afghan political elites and the public with many blasting the Afghan security institutions for what they call poor leadership and a weak management of the ongoing turmoil that has rattled the peaceful life of Afghans in multiple fronts.

"Taliban militants takeover districts, but government still has no plan to retake the areas from them," said head of parliament's defense committee Hashim Alokozai.

"Whenever you keep the forces on standby, they leave implications on their moral, they lose their moral and become weak," former deputy minister of interio Mirza Mohammad Yarmand said.

It is said that the Taliban outfits have sustained their firm control over Baghlan's Dahnae-e-Ghori, Gul Tapa, Aqtash and Kalbad districts and some areas of Chahardara district while the group also controls Kunduz's Dasht-e-Archi and Qala-e-Zal districts.

Reports indicate that in south and north also there is a similar situation in the wake of Taliban's control over Nawa district in Ghazni, Khak-e-Afghan district in Zabul, Kohistanat district in Sar-e-Pul province, Yamgan and Wardooj districts in Badakhshan – including their grip on some key districts of Helmand such as Baghran, Khanshin, Nawah and Nawmesh.

"We are planning to carry out operations to retake certain parts of Baghlan including Dand-e-Ghori, Dahana-e-Ghori and Baghlan-e-Markazi," said Baghlan police chief Noor Habib Gulbahari.

The statements come at a time that the Taliban continue to waging an unusually aggressive campaign of violence in Afghanistan, unleashing deadly bombings in major city across Afghanistan.

Arabia
Soddys prepared for ceasefire in Yemen
As Rantburger SteveS said yesterday: I feel confident a cease-fire can be achieved as long as it doesn't require people to stop shooting at each other.
[AlArabiyah] Saudi Arabia is prepared to agree to a ceasefire in Yemen, Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir said on Monday, adding that he was cynical about efforts for peace after numerous previous ceasefire attempts had failed.

We would like to see a ceasefire yesterday," Jubeir told reporters in London. "Everybody wants a ceasefire in Yemen, nobody more so than the kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the coalition members."

He accused the Houthis of reneging on previous deals.

"So yes, we come at this with a lot of cynicism. But we are prepared, the Yemeni government is prepared, to agree to a cessation of hostilities if the Houthis agree to it. The coalition countries will respect the desire of the Yemeni government," Jubeir said.

British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson, together with U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, met Jubeir and officials from the United Arab Emirates on Sunday and said the conflict in Yemen was causing increasing international concern.

The Houthis still control Sanaa and large areas of northern and western Yemen, but Jubeir said it was a matter of time before they were defeated.

"The momentum is going against them in Yemen. They're losing more territory; more people are mobilized against them. They are not paying their bills, businesses are not extending credit to them," Jubeir said.

Jubeir said the Sunni Kingdom was being very careful to abide by humanitarian law in the Yemen conflict. He said that those responsible for the funeral bombing would be punished and victims would be compensated.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Israel to assist Egypt's fragile economy
[Ynet] After years of political turmoil, economic frustration is putting pressure on the al-Sissi administration to remedy its multi-faceted shortcomings; Israeli and American officials see assisting Egypt as a vital security interest.

Israel is preparing for a series of large-scale projects with Egypt after many years of separation in economic cooperation between the two countries.

The joint discussions on the projects reflect not only a rapprochement between the two countries, but also an urgent need for improved infrastructure in Egypt given the severe economic crisis that threatens the political stability of the country.

After the signing of the 1979 peace agreement, economic cooperation between the two countries saw a significant boost, which was gradually reduced after Egypt expressed little interest in its renewal.

More recently however, Egypt has raised interest in several projects with Israel--among them, desalinization of sea water to address concerns over water levels in the Nile River, which could lead to a dramatic shortage of water available for drinking and irrigation.

Only a portion of the financial commitments from Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Kuwait have been received. Furthermore, the request to the IMF for $12 billion was granted on a series of conditions regarding a reduction of bureaucracy, increasing taxes and reducing subsidies--measures which could incite the Egyptian public.
Israel is also preparing to provide cooperation and assistance to Egypt in the fields of solar energy, electricity production, agriculture, irrigation and gas. Additionally, Egypt is also examining the possibility of extending its cooperation to the tourism sector, as the billions invested in an expansion program in the Suez Canal have yet to yield the expected revenue.

One of the major factors providing the impetus to the new cooperative efforts stems from political factors which intimately affect Israel’s security.

Indeed, in talks recently held between senior Israeli and American officials, concerns were raised over the stability of the Egyptian regime, with the two allies agreeing that in the absence of any fundamental improvement in the Egyptian economy, social unrest could precipitate the pouring of Moslem Brüderbund forces into the streets to undermine the rule of General al-Sisi.

Similarly, heads of government in Egypt view the economic crisis as a major strategic threat to their country and, as such, they are placing emphasis in Egypt and abroad on efforts to increase revenue and expand infrastructure.

Egypt's economic crisis has been greatly exacerbated by the ongoing fighting raging in Sinai and Libya as well as its support to Soddy Arabia

Immolated corpses of 3 wimmin found in Peshawar
[Dawn] PESHAWAR: Charred bodies of three women were found at an open space early Monday morning.

Police said they had reasons to believe the women had been murdered before being set on fire.

They added that after receiving information about a fire in the Chandmari area of Tehkal, a police team reached there. Police personnel found three charred bodies which were beyond recognition.

The bodies were shifted to the mortuary of the Khyber Medical College (KMC) for a forensic investigation.

Police investigator Riaz Khan told reporters that chemical was used to burn the bodies. He said the bodies were badly burned and at first it was difficult for the police to have any idea whether the victims were male or female.

But after a detailed investigation, forensic experts declared that all the victims were women aged between 18 and 25 years.

He believed that the victims were killed somewhere else and their bodies were later brought in the area and set on fire.

The investigator said local residents told police that they did not hear gunshots in the morning, but they saw the fire.

He said samples from the bodies had been taken and they would be sent for DNA tests.

An autopsy report by the KMC doctors would reveal the cause of death of the victims, he added.

The investigator said the bodies would be kept in the KMC’s mortuary and after DNA tests police would search for the relatives of the victims.

Police registered a case.

...Army of Glory, Syrian rebel group affiliated with the Free Syrian Army active in northwestern Syria, mainly in the al-Ghab Plain in northern Hama and its surroundings. The group has been supplied with anti-tank missiles by the United States...
and Ibna Al-Sham just north of recently captured Ma'ardes.

Following the capture of the Russian Regiment Base, the Syrian Armed Forces advanced to the outskirts of Souran, where they were confronted by a large contingent of jihadist rebels at the town's eastern flank.

With the Syrian Armed Forces at the outskirts of Souran, the jihadist rebels are now in serious trouble as the former looks to recapture all of the territory they lost in September.

(NDS) Chief, Masoom Stanikzai has met with the brother of Mullah Mohammad amid reports secret peace talks have revived in Qatar
...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates...
According to the sources in Taliban group, quoted in a report by The Guardian, among those present at the meetings held in September and October was Mullah Abdul Manan Akhund, brother of Mullah Omar
... a minor Pashtun commander in the war against the Soviets who made good as leader of the Taliban. As ruler of Afghanistan, he took the title Leader of the Faithful. Ready to end fight if foreign troops exit guaranteed: Taliban splinter group
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] A splinter group of the Taliban in Afghanistan has said the group is ready to end fighting if the exit of the foreign troops from the country is guaranteed.

The group led by Mullah Mohammad Rasool, an arch rival of the slain Taliban leader Mullah Akhtar Mansoor, has said the government should guarantee the exit of foreign troops.

A front man for the group Mullah Manan Niazi
...deputy to Taliban faction supremo Mullah Mohammad Rassoul Nowrozi...
has endorsed the current system in the country, saying it is hundred percent in line with the Islamic values and is greater than the neighboring Islamic countries.

He said the group is prepared to sit for peace talks with the Afghan government and the process should owned and led by the Afghan people.

This comes as reports emerged earlier suggesting efforts are underway to reach to an agreement between the Afghan government and the Mullah Rasool group.

The leader of Hezb-e-Islami Gulbuddin Hekmatyar
... who used to be known in intelligence circles as The Most Evil Man in the World but who now seems merely run-of-the-mill evil...
earlier said the Taliban splinter group led by Mullah Rasool is ready to join grinding of the peace processor.

Hekmatyar made the remarks during a video message during which he signed a landmark peace deal with the Afghan government following months of negotiations and efforts involving the Afghanistan High Peace Council.

Michelle Obama recruited to run for Senate, Chicago mayor
She loathes political people, and voters even more. Nor is Mr. Obama likely to be happy as a trailing spouse while she gets all the attention, especially since Mr. Clinton will have vacuumed up all the lucrative speaking offers.
[WASHINGTONEXAMINER] First lady Michelle Obama's star status on the 2016 campaign trail is prompting top Democrats back home in Illinois to ready an effort to recruit her to run for the Senate or mayor of reliably Democrat Chicago, aka The Windy City or Mobtown
... home of Al Capone, a succession of Daleys, Barak Obama, and Rahm Emmanuel,...
Should she run and win, Obama would join only Hillary Clinton
... sometimes described as Deplorable, Irredeemable and at other times as Mrs. Bill, never as Another Daniel Webster ...
in the rare class of former first ladies to swap out the "volunteer" public service job for an elected position.

The burgeoning effort comes despite Obama's inclination to leave elective politics behind when her husband's two terms are up in January, according to National Journal.

McCain Says GOP Senate Will Block Hillary’s Supreme Court Nominees
[DAILYCALLER] Republican Sen. John Maverick McCain
... the Senator-for-Life from Arizona, former presidential candidate and even more former foot soldier in the Reagan Revolution...

... sometimes described as the Smartest Woman in the World and at other times as Mrs. Bill, never as Another Bainbridge Colby ...
’s U.S. Supreme Court nominees, should she prevail in the November election.

"I promise you that we will be united against any Supreme Court nominee that Hillary Clinton, if she were president, would put up," McCain told WPHT radio in Philadelphia. "I promise you. This is where we need the majority and Pat Toomey is probably as articulate and effective on the floor of the Senate as anyone I have encountered," he continued, in reference to the incumbent Republican senator he was campaigning with. The comments were first flagged by CNN’s Chris Massie.

There is currently one vacancy on the high court, precipitated by the death of Justice Antonin Scalia. A slew of retirees are expected in the next presidency, given the age of several justices. Justice Anthony Kennedy in 80, Justice Stephen Breyer is 78, and Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who appears increasingly frail on the bench, is 82.

Baghdadi survives coup attempt by Islamic Kops

(IraqiNews.com) Nineveh – ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi survived a coup attempt by the so-called Islamic Police in Mosul after summoning “al-Assra Army” to suppress the coup, Al Sumaria reported on Monday.

The Iraqi news outlet stated that the Commander of ISIS Islamic Police, Abu Othman, staged a coup attempt and attacked four headquarters of ISIS in Mosul. In response, ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi summoned the so-called al-Assra army to suppress the coup and kill seven leaders of ISIS Islamic Police who were allegedly involved.

“The leader of the ISIS Islamic Police was killed, along with a number of his aides, and ISIS carried out mass executions of its militants who participated in the coup attempt,” Al Sumaria said.

“ISIS announced through its media detachments that it had overcome a coup attempt by the Islamic Police against al-Baghdadi and regained control over its entire headquarters after violent confrontations which lasted for several hours,” Al Sumaria added.

Al Sumaria also revealed that just prior to the coup ISIS Islamic Police vehicles were announcing through loudspeakers that Baghdadi’s rule in Mosul is over and that he had escaped to the Syrian city of Raqqa.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
FBI official at center of alleged Clinton email 'quid pro quo' speaks out
[WAPO] WASHINGTON - FBI official Brian McCauley had been trying for weeks to get his contact at the State Department to approve his request to put two bureau employees back in Baghdad.
Director Comey - Was he aware of the 'quid pro quo' in the FBI 302 report ?
Around May 2015, Patrick Kennedy finally called back.

"He said, 'Brian. Pat Kennedy. I need a favor,' " McCauley recalled in an interview Tuesday. "I said, 'Good, I need a favor. I need our people back in Baghdad."

Then Kennedy, a longtime State Department official, explained what he wanted in return: "There's an email. I don't believe it has to be classified."

The email was from Hillary Clinton's private server, and Kennedy wanted the FBI to change its determination that it contained classified information. McCauley and others ultimately rejected the request, but the interaction - which McCauley said lasted just minutes over maybe two conversations - has become the latest focal point of the bitter 2016 presidential campaign. The Democratic candidate's critics have suggested that the conversation between the State Department and the FBI demonstrated inappropriate collusion to benefit Clinton.

In an hour-long interview with The Washington Post, his first public comments on the matter, McCauley acknowledged that he offered to do a favor in exchange for another favor, but before he had any inkling of what Kennedy wanted. The FBI and the State Department have denied that McCauley and Kennedy ever engaged in a "quid pro quo."

#2  WSJ: ‘Rigged’ Was Hillary Clinton’s FBI Case
Democrats are lucky in Trump but the scandal will follow her to the White House.

Donald Trump probably is not helping his cause much with his conspiracy-mongering about a “rigged” election but Democrats should be thankful for small favors.

Mr. Trump lacks message discipline. Instead of scattershot claims that the race is being manipulated, wild conspiracy theories about ballot box-stuffing, which both parties and Americans of decency and goodwill strongly refute, he might be focusing laser-like on the “rigged” argument that nobody can confidently refute.

That’s the argument that Hillary Clinton is her party’s nominee and on her way to the White House only because the Obama administration decided to waive the law on handling classified material—and the FBI went along—in order to assure that its designated heiress would succeed to the presidency.

Google says the question “is Trump trying to lose?” has skyrocketed in popularity in the last few days. Mr. Trump is perhaps willing to be president but hasn’t been willing to do what was necessary to win. He never seriously tried to expand beyond his core support. He never wanted to spend the money, especially on TV advertising, that would be needed to do so.

If today’s Democratic campaign were being fought against a generic Republican without Mr. Trump’s distinct qualities and history, here’s what would dominate the news:

Mrs. Clinton was verbally convicted by the FBI chief for mishandling classified information yet somehow not formally charged.

Her aides were allowed to cut curious deals with FBI investigators that effectively swept under the rug any possible charges against them for obstruction or evidence tampering.

Those same aides have been revealed, through email leaks, to have freely mixed public and private interests, including their own and Clinton private interests, in the performance of jobs that, in some cases, saw them receiving salaries from the Clinton Foundation or the Clinton family even as they also worked for the taxpayer at the State Department.

The State Department itself, during Mrs. Clinton’s time as secretary, operated as an extension of the Clinton Foundation when it came to handling the requests and advancing the interests of important Clinton Foundation donors, some of which were foreign governments.

The latest email leak, likely at the hands of Russian hackers, shows the State Department negotiating with the FBI over the classification status of Mrs. Clinton’s private emails in search of reducing her legal jeopardy.

Here’s what we can expect after Election Day: Democrats will claim that a sweeping victory over Mr. Trump is a mandate for policies that were hardly talked about during a campaign focused on the shortcomings of Mr. Trump’s treatment of women. If Democrats don’t win the House, Mrs. Clinton will adopt President Obama’s strategy of aggressively using executive orders to expand Washington’s dominance of the private sector while painting Republicans as obstructionists.

Those who reason that Mrs. Clinton and House Speaker Paul Ryan have histories and temperaments suited to cooperation and see hope for bipartisan progress will be disappointed. Why? Because of the steady drip of email leaks. Because of new information challenging the quality and objectivity of the FBI investigation.

Mrs. Clinton, like Nixon in 1972, may not get a honeymoon no matter how big her win. The debate we aren’t having in the campaign, we will continue not to have: how to foster a modern state that doesn’t metastasize corruption, cronyism, elites helping themselves. There will be no bipartisan action on things that ail the American economy and hold back its growth. All of Washington will be enmeshed in a replay of the Watergate era, inward-looking, destructive, consumed with investigations and score-settling.

Of course, much will depend on how the vote for control of Congress goes, and whether Mrs. Clinton has an unsuspected gift for creative political leadership that somehow can give the GOP a stake in her success—as Mr. Obama so signally failed to do. Pleasant surprises are always possible. Don’t bet on one.

Belgium arrests fifteen, charges four known wolves after terror raids
[IsraelTimes] Suspects linked to Islamic State held in series of 15 early morning raids

Belgium on Tuesday charged four people with involvement in terrorism after 15 early morning raids in the northern cities of Ghent, Antwerp and Deinze, the federal prosecutor’s office said.

"Those persons have been indicted for participation in the activities of a terrorist group," a statement said.

"Some of them are suspected of recruiting people with a view to departing to Syria and joining Islamic State there," it added.

James O’Keefe Gets Another Scalp: Subject of Undercover Video Ousted
[BREITBART] Scott Foval, one of the subjects of a recent James O’Keefe exposé broken exclusively by Breitbart on Monday, has been removed from his job with the liberal advocacy group Americans United for Change.

Fox News has released a quote from Americans United For Change [head] Brad Woodhouse stating. "Americans United For Change has always operated according to the highest ethical and legal standards. Scott Foval is no longer associated with Americans United for Change."

In an exclusive interview with Breitbart News, James O’Keefe said he believes this is not the end. "They want to make Scott Foval the fall guy. But this rot goes higher and deeper. This was a conspiracy to create a narrative that Trump supporters were dangerous and out of control. This scheme was created and approved at the highest levels of the Hillary Clinton

campaign and the Democratic National Committee," O’Keefe said.

A quote from Foval published in the widely read Breitbart article supports this, with Foval saying,"We are contracted directly with the DNC and the campaign. I am contracted to [Robert Creamer] but I answer to the head of special events for the DNC and the head of special events and political for the campaign. Through Bob. We have certain people who do not get to talk to them, at all."

Watching the News Last Night
by Steve White

I was in a situation this past evening where I had to cool my heels at the hospital. As a physician you would think that that is a normal situation for me, except it wasn't my hospital. A family member had surgery, so I spent time in the surgery waiting area, just comforting family and being my usual self. Well, perhaps better behaved.

Because of this I had to watch TV. Much like an airport lounge, the waiting area had several televisions going, competing with each other in volume and generating the sort of cacophony that makes it hard to read a book or just think quietly. This was the "evening news hour", and CNN, ABC and CBS had their standard network broadcasts going.

Oh my.

For both ABC and CBS it was just about the entire first ten minutes on the national election. Fine, that is coming up so it's going to be a topic of conversation. CNN had segments as well as part of their 'headline' news.

Now I'm not naïve. I've been reading about the media bias in this election. I understand that the MSM is "all in" for Hillary. But it's one thing to know that, it's another thing to watch it in action.

The key word, I think, is relentless. Each and every segment was anti-Trump. The visuals served to make Trump look old and dark. The tone was menacing. The talking heads were pondering, nasty, and condemning. The news anchors kept up the tone, staging questions that were meant to give the talking heads another reason to bash Trump.

The theme was the entire anti-woman, racist, anti-woman, nasty, anti-woman, inexperienced, anti-woman, and double-dealing, and did I mention anti-woman?

Through all this, there was little said about Hillary. ABC, near the end, noted that she was "taking time off to prepare for the last debate" (those hardware upgrades take a couple days, I'm told). That about it. Again, I understand that the networks aren't going to mention her health, Benghazi, email servers, the Foundation, her canoodling with foreign thugs, and her money-grubbing. But there was nothing of substance: it was as if someone at the campaign (perhaps Podesta) who decided that the best plan was to disappear Hillary for the next couple weeks. And that's just what the networks did.

I watched as the media pummeled McCain and then Romney. I've watched the spite directed against every Republican in the election, and how each is rehabilitated four years later to be used as a cudgel against the next Republican.

So cheer up, Donald: in four years the MSM will respect you again.

Oh, and one more thing. I'm well and truly done with the MSM. I'm not even sure I'll continue to watch football on their networks. But I sure will not patronize their news, their prime-time, their shows, and their ads. As the saying goes, you can't pee on my back and then tell me it's raining.

Goodbye MSM.

You might tell the hospital that they only need one TV on to cut down the cacophonous din since they all have the same message and Dem. talking points.

What took you so long? I gave up on broadcast network news and their prime time crap back when Taxi was in its first season, and only watched Fox News during the 2000 and 2004 election coverage. I haven't watched any TV news since then; it's all junk.

#4  Dave: agreed, and I don't watch the stuff unless it's foisted on me. That why at airports I'm always looking for the seat in the departure area that's farthest from the TVs.

My TV viewing the last few years has been football, occasionally soccer, and that's it. I'm not even watching the Cubs. I'd love to cut the cable but my dearest wife must have her HGTV and the MiL must have her Golf Channel.

#5  But in a broader media sense including more than just the news, I remember a time, maybe because I was younger and didn't know any better, when I could watch TV and go to the movies without the fear that some Hollywood type was going to stick some Democrat propaganda into the script...when I wasn't disappointed and offended every time some star I admired came out with a quote about how sexist and racist I am...how deplorable I am...how Christian I am. There are a growing number of Hollywood actors, directors and producers whose work I can no longer appreciate because they can't keep their mouths shut about their deranged opinions. It's kinda sad.

You too, Steve, had to do something like that recently. When the Golf Channel and Weather Channel, Weather Underground, natch, are running hit pieces, it isn't just relentless, it is embarrassing. Seriously, the other day there was a Jeopardy! question concerning 2016 presidential politics?

I ended up getting a book read and having some great conversation with some others in waiting.

I say this with utmost conviction: I would rather watch Little People: Atlanta than entertainment news. The acting is better and story more believable.

So ya, we have a tv subscription, but it is not being used very much at all.

Even the morning local news - done. Five KS Supreme Court Judges are up for affirmation. The KSSC overturned a death penalty conviction on two guys who raped five gals for three hours, took them out to the country, shot them in the back of the head, then ran over them. One gal survived, got help. Ruling overturned. On the news: Governor Brownback doesn't have a budget yet! Cue commercial - this is why we must retain these five judges.

Iraq
ICRC seeks talks with ISIS on Mosul rules of war, prepares to aid refugees
Have at it, dear Reader.
[Ynet] The International Committee of the Red Thingy (ICRC) appealed to all sides--including ISIS--on Tuesday to show humanity on the battlefield and spare civilians in the Iraqi city of Mosul, as the Mosul offensive, made up of Iraqi government forces, allied militias, Iraqi Kurdistan, limited US ground forces and US and allied air support prepare themselves for an attempt to re-take the city of 1.5 million from ISIS rule.

ICRC Regional Director Robert Mardini said the agency had reminded the allies trying to dislodge the Death Eaters - the Iraqi government, Kurdish authorities and the US-led coalition - of their duties under international humanitarian law.

It had not yet managed to establish dialogue with ISIS on the "basic rules of war."

"But our ambition," said Mardini. "And we will do everything we can, (is) to establish dialogue with this group because it is holding the city of Mosul, and we absolutely need to have this dialogue kick-started. So all I can say now is we will continue to try and try harder," Mardini said.

He did not say what channels the ICRC might use to contact the Lion of Islams.

"We need to keep hope, and maybe the situation in Mosul is a point in time when also all parties to the conflict, including ISIS, will see the benefits of having the basic rules of war and the basic rules of dignity prevailing in the battle because it gives guarantees for humane treatment of all."

Aid agencies are bracing for what they fear could be a humanitarian catastrophe.

Some 900 ICRC staff are deployed across Iraq and have spent months gearing up for its response to the crisis, said Mardini. In the first phase of fighting, the ICRC is poised to provide food, water and shelter for nearly 270,000 people fleeing Mosul.

While responding to the possibllity of ISIS using chemical weapons, Mardini said that the agency had reinforced 13 medical centers in areas surrounding Mosul, including one prepared to treat any victims of gas attacks.

Explaining what he meant by the basic rules of warfare, Mardini said, "It means not targeting civilians, it means not targeting civilian infrastructure, it means not attacking medical facilities and medical personnel, it means avoiding use of heavy explosive weapons in densely populated areas."

"Our message to those who are fighting is very simple: put civilians first. Preserve your humanity in the heat of battle, show that humanity matters to you."

In the two years since it captured large tracts of Iraq and Syria and declared an Islamic caliphate, ISIS has become known for mass atrocities, including rape and beheadings, and Mardini acknowledged that appealing to its humanity might seem idealistic.

"It might sound naive in the wake of what we have seen so far, but our position is to firmly pursue the same line and to bet on the humanity in each and every group involved in the fighting," he said.

Kurds prepare major operation to retake Bashiqa from ISIS

[ARA News] Bashiqa – Thousands of Peshmerga forces are preparing for a major military operation to take the town of Bashiqa from the Islamic State (ISIS) radical group.

The Peshmerga’s General Commander of the Bashiqa operation, Bahram Ali Siyasi, told ARA News on Tuesday that thousands of Kurdish forces will participate in the battle to liberate Bashiqa District.

ISIS is expected to show some resistance in the battle for Bashiqa, according to Kurdish commander.

More than 30,000 civilians used to inhabit Bashiqa, including Christians, Arabs, Kurds and Shia. After ISIS’ invasion in August 2014, most of the inhabitants fled to the Kurdistan region. Nevertheless, in the villages around Bashiqa there are still some civilians stranded by ISIS.

Some civilians were killed by ISIS when they tried to go to Peshmerga-controlled territory.

“The social coexistence in Bashiqa still exists in Kurdistan, and after Bashiqa is liberated the people can return to their homes and the process of democracy will continue,” Peshmerga General Bahram Ali Siyasi told ARA News.

ISIS has laid many mines and explosives in the town and had over two years to prepare. For the last few months, ISIS militants have been firing artillery on Kurdish positions near Bashiqa mountain, and the Peshmerga forces are eager to take the fight to ISIS.

“This operation will be bigger than that of Khazir. While in Khazir it was around 10 villages, here are more than 20 villages and Bashiqa town itself. This operation will have more ground and more has to be captured,” Siyasi said.

The commander also denied that Turkey-trained Sunni Arab forces or the Turkish army itself will be part of the operation.

“Until now there is no role for Turkey in Bashiqa, but the [Turkey-backed] Hashd al-Watani [Nujayfi’s militia] will take part in the operation of Mosul, not in Bashiqa,” he said.

According to the commander, there is a high-level coordination between the Kurdish Peshmerga forces, Iraqi Army and the US-led coalition in the war on ISIS.

“The morale of ISIS is gone; they have become very weak. Whereas the Peshmerga’s morale is high and their capabilities have improved, and the coalition has stepped up its support,” Siyasi told ARA News.

Moreover, he said that the Iraqi army has improved a lot since June 2014 when they fled from Mosul city. “They have liberated Ramadi, Tikrit, Fallujah and Shirt. They have improved a lot and will be able to destroy the terrorists,” he said.

The Peshmerga General said the operation might reach the gates of the city of Mosul in a few weeks.

However, the Peshmerga forces will most likely stay on the outskirts of Mosul as part of the agreement with Baghdad while Iraqi forces will go inside Mosul city. “If they need us, we will enter the city,” he said.

ISIS troops flees Mosul for Raqqa
Fire Sack 101
[ARA News] Mosul – Hundreds of Islamic State’s (ISIS) militants have escaped Iraq’s Nineveh Governorate through the Ba’aj road to Syria, officials and military sources reported on Tuesday.

Kurdish Peshmerga commander Qassim Shesho confirmed that a large number of ISIS fighters have fled the Mosul countryside through the Ba’aj road to Syria.

The Bajaj road is an unofficial route used by ISIS to move between Mosul in northern Iraq and Raqqa, the group’s capital in Syria.

Another senior Kurdish official also confirmed: “Yes, there were cars going from Ba’aj to Syria. Maybe they were civilians, not Daesh [ISIS].”

On Saturday, dozens of Islamic State (ISIS) jihadists arrived in the Syrian border town of Margada along with their families. The jihadists came from positions in Iraq’s northwestern Nineveh Governorate, which have been evacuated.

Local sources told ARA News that more than 90 ISIS members, along with their families, arrived in Margada town–near the administrative borders between Hasakah and Deir ez-Zor Governorates. Eyewitnesses reported that there were at least 25 families in the ISIS convoy.

Also, several ISIS military vehicles passed through al-Qa’im crossing on the Syrian-Iraqi border. The vehicles continued on to al-Bukamal city in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor Governorate. “The vehicles crossed the border in the early morning on Saturday, carrying weapons and dozens of ISIS fighters,” local media activist Ahmed Hamwi told ARA News.

In the meantime, Kurdish Peshmerga forces told ARA News that there are no plans so far to attach southern Sinjar to cut the road between Raqqa and Mosul.

Syrian Army Command Warns Terrorists Attempting to Flee Mosul into Syria

[AlManar] The General Command of the Syrian Army and the Armed Forces said the supporters of international terrorism are trying to secure safe routes and corridors for the ISIL terrorists who are fleeing Iraq’s Mosul to cross into Syria.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Command said a “malicious scheme” by the backers of international terrorism, mainly the US and Saudi Arabia, is unfolding and becoming clear after military operations were launched by the brotherly Iraqi army and its supporting forces to liberate Mosul city from the gangs of ISIL terrorist organization.

The scheme, the statement explained, is to provide safe routes for the groupings of ISIL terrorists who are reeling under the Iraqi army’s strikes in Mosul-Iraq’s second largest city-to cross the border into the Syrian territory.

The aim of providing such corridors, it added, is to provide protection to the terrorists on the one hand and boost the terrorist presence inside the Syrian territory on the other hand in a bid to impose a new military reality in the eastern region in the direction of Deir Ezzor, Raqqa and Palmyra.

The General Command of the Army stressed in its statement that the battle of liberating Mosul and the whole territory of Iraq from terrorism is its own battle.

The Command warned that it would consider any attempt at crossing into its border as “an attack on the sovereignty of the Syrian Arab Republic,” and that those who attempt to do that would be regarded as terrorists and would be dealt with all the forces and means at its disposal.

ISIS artillery hits Syrian rebel positions near Raqqa
[ARA News] Raqqa – Militant fighters of the Islamic State (ISIS) attacked on Tuesday headquarters of the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) north of Raqqa Governorate, in northeastern Syria.

ISIS hit SDF security centres in Ain Issa town with mortar shells, killing and wounding scores of SDF fighters.

“At least three SDF fighters were killed and seven others wounded in the shelling,” local media activist Abdullah Omar told ARA News. “The bombardment has also caused destruction to an SDF security building in central Ain Issa.”

The town of Ain Issa, located in the northern countryside of Raqqa, is a main base for the Syrian Democratic Forces in the governorate. The town is used by the SDF to plan their military operations against ISIS in the vicinity of Raqqa City–which is a de facto capital for the ISIS self-declared Caliphate.

The ISIS attack on SDF positions followed airstrikes by the US-led coalition that hit ISIS headquarters in Raqqa and killed scores of the group’s militants.

“ISIS is aware that the coalition’s airstrikes are aimed at paving the way for the SDF to continue their progress against the group in Raqqa and other parts of northern Syria,” Omar said.

#1  They are investigating systemic voter fraud over the past 4 years in Tarrant County Texas - and its all benefitting (D) candidates.

This is bigger than either of the candidates - it speaks to the legitimacy of our government. If we don't have a true vote, we are no better than a banana republic.

#2  More here:

http://www.empowertexans.com/around-texas/evidence-of-alleged-tarrant-county-voter-fraud-released/

The (Texas) secretary of state has referred to the voter fraud evidence as "voluminous." The complaint contained over 1,500 pages of documents. And while the complete document is not yet public, one thing [is] clear—political operatives inside Tarrant County have illegally forged thousands of signatures on ballot-by-mail applications and carrier envelopes over the last four years.

At least two local officials are in office as a result of the voter fraud uncovered – State Rep. Ramon Romero Jr. (D–Fort Worth) and Fort Worth Mayor Pro Tem, Sal Espino.

Espino won his race by a twenty-six vote margin in an election in which 450 votes were fraudulently harvested in that district alone. Romero won his seat by a 110 vote margin in a race that was similarly impacted by voter fraud.

NYC college student died fighting for ISIS in Syria last year, facilitator on trial
[NYDailyNews] A New York City college student was killed last fall while fighting for ISIS in Syria, new papers filed in Manhattan Federal Court show.

Samy Mohammed El-Goarany, 24, traveled to the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
stronghold in February 2015 after "expressing an increased interest in turban forms of Islam," prosecutors say. He died in November 2015.

Manhattan U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara's office has charged that Ahmed Mohammed El Gammal facilitated El-Goarny's trip.

The new court papers -- part of Bharara's push to use communications between El-Goarany and El Gammal in trial -- reveal additional details about their alleged relationship.

El-Goarany messaged El Gammal on Facebook in August of 2014, after seeing he had posted pro-ISIS comments online, the filing says.

They swapped messages and El Gammal ultimately traveled from Phoenix to New York City that October to meet with El-Goarany.

El Gammal then plotted with a co-conspirator in The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
who could help set El-Goarany up in the terrorist organization, Bharara's office claims.

El Gammal was arrested in August 2015 for providing and conspiring to provide material support to ISIS. He was also hit with charges of aiding and abetting the receipt of military training from ISIS, and conspiring to receive training from the group.

Shortly after El Gammal was nabbed, his co-conspirator in Turkey asked El-Goarany to make a video to vindicate him. The video, he said, was to show that El-Goarany went to Syria on his own -- and that El Gammal "had nothing to do" with his decision.

El-Goarany, who’d attended a college in Manhattan, recorded the video on Sept. 8 2015.

"I came here and I made this video to let you know that I came here out of my own will. It was my own choice, and it was out of my own resources," El-Goarany said, according to prosecutors. "I didn’t come to this decision with anybody’s influence or anybody’s recruitment. I came here. It was my decision and mine alone. Nobody financed me to come here. Nobody bought my plane ticket. All that with my own money. Nobody showed me the way to get here."

He insisted that "nobody" included "Ahmed Mohammed El Gammal, in America. And I’m making this video just to let the authorities know this. This is my statement, and use it however you wish."

El Gammal's lawyer doesn’t want the "help" and is fighting against the video's use in court, claiming it can't be verified and would be "overly prejudicial" against her client.

El-Goarany’s parents, who live in Middletown, declined comment.
ABC7NY adds:
Samy Mohammed El-Goarany abruptly traveled to The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
without telling his friends or family in January 2015. He received religious and military training and continued on to Syria by February.

Samy sent el Gammal a message that read, "It's been a long time, but I'm doing well and just want you to know I'm safe and secure and everything is going according to plan," the documents say.

One social-media account created by Samy showed him standing near a bullet-riddled mural of a Syrian political figure. Samy also sent a text to a friend telling him he was living in "bilad al Island, and it's beautiful."

Iraqi refugee pleads guilty to aiding Islamic State in US
[IsraelTimes] 5 years after immigrating to Houston in 2009, man allegedly hoped to bomb 2 malls; faces up to 20 years in prison

Omar Faraj Saeed Al Hardan admitted as part of a plea deal that he pledged his loyalty to the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. in November 2014 and almost immediately trained to use tactical weapons, including an AK-47. He faces up to 20 years in federal prison when he is sentenced January 17 on a charge of attempting to provide material support or resources to a designated foreign terrorist organization.

The 24-year-old came to Houston from Iraq in 2009. Beginning in June 2014, Al Hardan developed a relationship with a confidential informant, discussing hopes to travel overseas to fight with the Islamic State group, according to authorities.

Homeland Security Special Agent Herman Wittliff testified days after Al Hardan’s indictment in January that the suspect had been learning how to make electronic transmitters that could be used to detonate explosives. Wittliff said Al Hardan hoped to bomb two Houston malls, including the popular Galleria mall, and wanted to use cellphones -- a collection of which were found in his apartment -- to detonate the devices.

An FBI statement at the time assured that Al Hardan never had an "active or planned plot targeting a specific location in Houston or elsewhere."

Prosecutors alleged Al Hardan was coordinating efforts with another Iraqi refugee living in Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party,, Aws Mohammed Younis al-Jayab, and that the two men discussed getting weapons training and eventually sneaking into Syria to fight alongside the Islamic State.

Al-Jayab is locked away

in Chicago on allegations of trying to support a terrorist group. The 23-year-old Iraqi-born Paleostinian man also is charged in California with lying to Sherlocks about traveling to Syria.

Al-Jayab flew from Chicago to The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
on November 9, 2013, then traveled to Syria, federal prosecutors said. Authorities say he joined a group later affiliated with the Islamic State, though he told Sherlocks he was just visiting his grandmother in Turkey.

Imagine the space-time continuum gets scrambled and you find yourself in a world where the coming election is between a crazy old cat lady, an old hippie, Hitler and Mussolini. Hitler is leading one major party and Mussolini is leading another major party. The hippie and the cat lady have no party and very little support. As a practical matter, your choice is between Mussolini and Hitler. More important, you know the ramifications of both choices. The former is murder and mayhem and the latter is authoritarianism and long speeches.

To anyone with a soul, the choice is clear. You vote for Mussolini. It’s a terrible option, but so is chemotherapy. No one enthusiastically opts for chemotherapy, but it beats dying from cancer. If you told your doctor that your morals prevented you from choosing chemo, so you were going to visit some guy with magic crystals, your doctor would try to have you committed. Similarly, no one would wants Mussolini as the ruler, but he is a vastly better option than Hitler. You do what you must, even when it is unpleasant, to stop Hitler.

To continue this a bit further, imagine if someone came up to you are said “I’m Susan Wright and my principles prevent me from voting Mussolini, even though I know Hitler will murder millions, so I’m voting for the goofy hippie guy.” You would have dark thoughts about that person. They are willing to stand aside and allow something truly horrible just so they can avoid doing something unpleasant. To make it worse, they demand that you pretend that their cowardice and treachery is high minded.

Further, you would look at those people investing all of their energy ridiculing Mussolini as pro-Hitler partisans. After all, the successful end of the efforts can only mean one thing – Hitler wins. They could protest all they like that they hate both Hitler and Mussolini, but you would know them by their deeds. They are working to pave the way for Hitler, regardless of their reasoning. If successful, they would be, in part, responsible for what comes next. Blood would be on their hands and you would feel justified in holding them responsible.

Alternatively, if someone came up to you and made the case for Hitler, along with pointing out the faults of Mussolini, you would not feel the urge to punch them in the face. They may be horribly mistaken, but at least they are being honest. They are pro-Hitler and they take responsibility for it. They own it. Who knows, they could be right and Mussolini is worse in the long run. In theory, at least, you can debate this with the Hitler fans and maybe in the process sway some undecided voters to your side.

Obviously, you see what I’m doing here. Replace Hitler with Clinton and Mussolini with Trump and we have the debate between the Cult of Never Trump and the rest of us. No one thinks Trump is the ideal candidate. Many of us think he is a awful candidate, but he is orders of magnitude better than Clinton. Her election means the nation lurches into authoritarianism. What comes next will be unfathomably horrible. If you have a soul, you do what you must to prevent evil from triumphing. Susan Wright has no soul.

#1  Sorry Badanov, this analogy does not hold water. Try as you might, Hillary is not Hitler. She is not a populist (although Trump is), she is not a Nationalist (although Trump is), and she is not a racist (nether of them are). She will begin as a cripple president, and likely will collapse in office despite the efforts to Humpty Dumpty her presidency.

Also, I find your argument weak.

First, Convincing me to vote AGAINST is not the same thing as convincing me to vote FOR. Forget for a moment about Hillary - find something other than smoke, mirrors and hop that convinces me that Trump is fit for office, that he will be effective, that he will promote the things I want - like smaller government (no), constitutionalism (no), 2nd amendment (his history says no), opposing progressivism (no), etc. Recently he is finally making some points with term limits, so there is that, but that's a Congressional/State function, so its a moot point for a President.

Secondarily: If my soul is at issue, then you are recommending I taint it by endorsing a lesser evil? That's still endorsing/promoting evil. Sorry, that's utterly unconvincing, I suggest you stop trying that as a moral argument unless you like losing.

My main objection to this whole badly argued position is it reeks of moral relativism.

Moral relativism and "the ends justify the means" are the argument of socialist, progressives and dictatorships; yet this, in essence, is what you are proposing with this analogy. Just stop - you have become what you oppose.

But ultimately it does not matte r- Trump is losing and will lose because he is a horrible man (narcissist and egoist who is blind to his own faults and blames others for his failures, believes because he is rich morals and laws and decency do not apply to him) and an incompetent candidate and an incompetent campaigner. Any one or even 2 of these might have been overcome, even in the face of a hostile press. But not all 3.

And this is why we warned you about Trump a long time ago. The "Dale" types didn't listen and drank the poisoned koolaide blindly, the "Fred" types went along because they were angry at the Beltway GOP, and now we are stuck with this looming disaster.

Don't come to us expecting us to help you further screw things up. We are preparing for the fight to come - fighting President Hillary that you have made happen. Its going to be nasty mainly because you are burning down other conservatives (Lee, Sasse, Cruz, Rubio who is conservative other than immigration) instead of going after the beltway squishes like KY McConnell & TX Cornyn and the machine candidates like the zombie Thad Chochran from Mississippi.

Putting a spine into them or replacing them is going to be the hard work that faces us now.

The time for offensives is done - you are delusional if you thing you are fighting anything other than a Dunkirk at this point.

#2  FYI, latest poll is that Trump may lose Texas. Thats right, TEXAS. Trump people were warned about this, you screwed up nominating this clown, and now you're surprised by the end result?

You cited the polls for your win back in the spring, endlessly. But you ignored the other part of those polls. The part that had Trump as the only candidate to consistently be a loser to Hillary in over a dozen polls. YOU DIDNT LISTEN. Facts are facts. They are hard things.

Yet you proceeded anyway. This one is on you who supported him, for nominating a guy so bad that a large portion of the party will not vote for him, and who has been utterly a disaster as a candidate, as many predicted. These October surprises are hardly surprises at all - and are all the worse because that idiot narcissist blocked his own people from doing the Opposition Research that could have headed this stuff off. Picking fights with a Gold Star Family instead of being the bigger man and moving the news back to Hillary and her corruption on Benghazi. Going after Ted Cruz well after the nomination was over with and the convention done - instead of going after Hillary and the Emails. Blowing the WikiLeaks Dem party corruption out of the headlines by tweeting stupidly at his "bimbo" accusers. Offending Mormons directly and ignoring their concerns, with a "screw you, you went Cruz so we don't need you" attitude - which may cost him Utah and the election.

I could go on and on. But you see my point. This could have been avoided, and it hasn't been.

That's why Trump is going to lose. And to support him is to support the self-destructive (to those who value liberty) attacks he is making on conservatives and others who refuse to kiss his ass. Sorry, No. I will not vote for him and reinforce YOUR mistake. He is going to lose anyway, by driving away far more people than he brings in.

#3  I told you this would be a disaster back in the spring. After seeing this, I expected the next 4 years to be a hard slog against President Hillary. You put him there, you own him, you own his mistakes, you own his loss, you own President Hillary.

Guess what? You were wrong. I was right. You were self-deluding. Own it.

I was one of the ones whom you Trump people and the koolaide crowd (including the anti-semites and class/race-warriors) told "we won, we beat you and we don't want you or your conservatism, we can and will win without you".

And guess what else? I'm holding you to your word on that.

And that's that. Look no further than your mirror if you want someone to blame. Those of us who fight for our principles are getting ready to clean up your mess.

Posted by: badanov || 10/19/2016 6:30 Comments || Top||

#7  The biggest point that this type of analysis misses is the reaction of the deep-state, insiders to the two choices.

If Hillary wins you can kiss good bye to anything resembling rule of law and checks and balances because those charged with providing those are totally sold out. The media will never ever broadcast the evidence of galloping authoritarianism, the IRS oppression, the total shut down of law against corrupt pols. Bureaucrats will rule at the behest of the lobbiests setting regulations to allow anyone to be arrested at any time.

If Trump wins, the media and the bureaucracy will fight him tooth and nail providing visibility to any and all peccadilloes. This, too me, is our only safegaurd against a dismal future.

So, Mr. Spook, what is the best way forward from our current position. Trump was never my choice until he was the nominee. I would have preferred Walker or Cruz but that isn't the choice I have now so I'm all for lessening the damage as much as possible.

#11  OS has been entirely consistent in his view from very early on. And he was right. But that's history, mitigation of damages is the the name of the game. Hold one House of Congress at all costs, I fear the Senate is gone, but only for 2 years, hold the house! A house seat lost is a bitch to recover.

Well, at least this cycle we formed the circular firing squad before the election, something of a break-thru.

Now, I figure I am the only RINO in the joint, can we figure what a "real Republican is?" I reserve the right to chime in. Do recall that the last great RINO President said, the 11th Commandment, Thou Shall Not Peak ill of another Republican?

Yeah. I am more than a bit with crazy OS, we've blown both our feet off for real this time.

But a new Party will emerge, nothing new here.

Posted by: Shipman || 10/19/2016 15:52 Comments || Top||

#12  ...can we figure what a "real Republican" is?

We believe in the Constitution, even when things get "icky" because of the 1st and 2nd Amendment.

We believe in free enterprise, and the right to conduct business free of undue burden.

We acknowledge that tax money isn't "ours"--it came from the pockets of those who work for it. We spend it wisely, and we're ever cautious about creating programs that disincentivise people and businesses to provide for themselves.

We believe in our borders, and the security of our country, and believe that it trumps everything except our Constitution.

We support our military. We make sure they have the tools they need to succeed. We remember that they may ultimately be called upon to wage significant combat, and we refrain from weighing them down with frilly feel-good political correctness concerns.

We'd like to help the world, but not in a cavalier way that imperils our soldiers for no clearly enunciated gain.

We have principles that guide which nations we will be chummy with. IF there is a strategic gain to be had by doing some project with a nation that violates those basic principles, we won't whitewash their shortcomings. Instead we will acknowledge their flaws, and enunciate what is to be gained for holding our nose while working with them.

#13  I have always looked for the thoughtful posts from OldSpook and so I will respectfully agree that he is more right than wrong and was prescient about what might play out if Trump was the nominee.
Having just returned from my first trip to Poland, a trip that had a heavy historic bent, I am wondering if better analogy might be the political calculus that Polish nationals went through from 1939 through early 1945- Having no "Polish" political alternative, is it better to through in with the Nazi's from the west who are going to slave labor you to death in a very efficient manner (PS Went to Aushwitz- still stinks of evil) or prefer to be ruled by barbarians like the Russians coming from the east fully capable of slaughtering a generation of military leadership in the forests of Katyn?
Posted by: Capsu78 || 10/19/2016 18:22 Comments || Top||

#14  I agree with Crusader but feel that he missed the prime point.

We believe in the individual. The individual is responsible for all his/her actions.

There is no tribe or group or family that should be considered above an individual. If an individual does wrong it is it is no reflection on anyone else, conversely if he/she does good THAT is no credit to anyone else.

This way there is no racism or oppression because of some factor outside an individuals control. If a person holds to a creed that is abominable it is solely that persons responsibility.

#15  I look forward to Old Spooks posts, providing interesting insights. His perspective on voting has not changed in four - and maybe eight - years.

Let me offer this quote from Winston Churchill, The Gathering Storm, page 565, which I read tonight - "In war, as in life, it is often necessary, when some cherished scheme has failed, to take up the best alternative open, and if so it is folly not to work for it with all your might."

About the time of Trondheim, Norway, April, 1940. Timely, 76 years later, is it not?

Trump proposes term limits for Congress
[The Hill] Donald Trump on Tuesday called for term limits in Congress as part of his new ethics reform proposal.

"If I’m elected president I will push for a constitutional amendment to impose term limits on all members of Congress," Trump said at a rally in Colorado Springs, Colo. "Decades of failure in Washington and decades of special-interest dealing must and will come to an end."

"Not only will it end our government corruption, but we will end the economic stagnation that we’re in right now -- no growth," Trump, the Republican presidential nominee, added of the proposal.

Trump released a five-point ethics plan Monday night in an effort to "drain the swamp" in Washington.

He also wants Congress to pass a law preventing all administration officials, lawmakers and congressional aides from lobbying the government for five years after leaving public service.

His plan additionally includes a call for Congress to pass legislation banning registered foreign agents from raising money in U.S. elections.

Trump promised as part of the plan to close loopholes that allow former government officials to call "themselves consultants and advisers when we all know they are lobbyists."

#7  This topic was widely discussed many years ago. There was one argument against term limits which made some sense that needs to be considered at the same time.

That argument was that without Congress people with long experience it would confer even more power to the unelected bureaucracy. The Bureaucracy would not have any opposition wise to the way it works and able to provide some check (all right stop laughing).

While I don't agree that this is sufficient to NOT put term limits on Congress it does highlight a potentially more important issue which is the rise of the bureaucratic state.

Ecuador cut off Assange’s internet at U.S. request, WikiLeaks says
[MCCLATCHYDC] Wikileaks said Tuesday that Secretary of State John F. I was in Vietnam, you know Kerry
Former Senator-for-Life from Massachussetts, self-defined war hero, speaker of French, owner of a lucky hat, conqueror of Cambodia, and current Secretary of State...
asked Ecuador to stop WikiLeaks founder, Julian Assange, from publishing leaked emails that could disrupt peace negotiations with a guerrilla group in Colombia. Assange, who has been in refuge in Ecuador’s embassy in London for more than four years, saw his access to the internet cut over the weekend.

Air Force releases guidance on transgender airmen
[AIRFORCETIMES] The Air Force this week publicly released its guidance for how the service will incorporate transgender airmen into its ranks.

"Transgender airmen serve alongside us with integrity, service and excellence," Air Force Secretary Deborah Lee James said in a news release announcing the guidance. "This is another step in allowing transgender airmen to serve openly, receive medical care relating to gender transition and allow transgender individuals to join the Air Force. Our strengths as a military are the quality and character of our people, and those things that make us unique are the same things that make us strong."

The guidance, which was included in a memo dated Oct. 6, spells out how the Air Force will handle questions of which lodging, bathroom and shower facilities transgender airmen will use while they are transitioning. It also outlines plans for handling their fitness assessments and uniforms during the transition process.

And while it warns airmen and commanders that discrimination and bias against transgender airmen will not be tolerated, the guidance also said that handling such transitions could be tricky.

The front man is Egyptian-Australian Islamist "Mustafa Mohamad", and claims his only role in the terrorist organization was to educate people.

Key Members For The Commission On Presidential Debates Are In Bed With HRC
[Daily Caller] Chief members of the Commission on Presidential Debates have historically donated to Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton and to the Democratic party overall.

The Commission on Presidential Debates was founded in 1987 to ensure that debates are nonpartisan and provide the general public the best possible information. It is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporation that has sponsored all debates since 1988.

Co-Chairman Michael D. McCurry donated to Hillary Clinton campaigns from 2000 to 2008, giving her a total of $5,650 over eight years. In 2006, during her first push for the White House, McCurry gave Clinton $2,100. There is even a Federal Elections Commission lawsuit that alleges McCurry gave $7,500 to Hillary Clinton from 2008 to 2012.

Richard D. Parsons, member of the board of directors for the commission since 2011, gave $7,900 to Hillary Clinton while she ran in 2008, and contributed again during the 2016 cycle. Interestingly, Parsons was invited to speak at the Clinton Global Initiative in 2007, just one year before his first large donation to Clinton in 2008.

#4  Sadly, I have to disagree. McCurry is not a baddie. He is a Dem, and that is not illegal. I know him personally. Such as THAT is. Dems will support Dems even though they do not swallow everything.

Maybe partisan thinking carried too far. I will still vote for Trump. I do not care what he thinks.

We are still Americans, and can disagree. And vote our consciences.

Former Cuomo lobbyist claims he doesn’t have to repay $85G to company suing him because it was bribe, not loan
If you look up chutzpah in the dictionary, dear Reader, you will see his picture.
[NYDAILYNEWS] A lobbyist with ties to Gov. Cuomo has a novel argument why he shouldn’t be forced to repay a company $85,000 -- it was meant to be a bribe, not a loan.

Cor Development is suing its former lobbyist Todd Howe for the money.

But in legal papers filed Monday, Howe’s lawyers argued that the "purported loan was illegal, as it was part of an illegal conspiracy to deprive the public of its intangible right to honest services of an employee of the state of New York by soliciting and giving bribes and gratuities."

Cor officials told Syracuse newspapers, which first reported the legal maneuver, that Howe is lying and the debt is real.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Civilian onslaught continues in government-held Aleppo
[ALMASDARNEWS] The relentless shelling on the densely populated neighborhoods of west Aleppo continued on Tuesday killing at least two civilians while injuring dozens.

At least 66 non-combatants were killed in the past ten days as a result of the merciless bombardment of the city by the jihadist forces occupying the eastern part of the formerly prosperous industrial hub.

Rebel shelling failed to deescalate with the announcement of the Russian-Syrian temporary ceasefire that will be implemented in the coming days and with the 48-pause in Arclight airstrikes on the battered districts of east Aleppo.
