Abu Sayyaf suspected behind kidnapping of two Indonesians
[BenarNews] Five gunmen, suspected to be Abu Sayyaf militants, kidnapped two Indonesian fishermen in the waters off Kunak, a small coastal town in the eastern Malaysian state of Sabah, before fleeing toward Tawi-Tawi in the southern Philippines on Saturday.

After destroying the boat's communications equipment and stealing cash and mobile phones, the gunmen left 11 other crewmen unharmed, according to Eastern Sabah Security Command commander Wan Abdul Bari Wan Abdul Khalid.

He said Malaysian authorities were alerted by Philippine officials of a speedboat that they were pursuing near Tawi-Tawi’s Taganak Island.

Philippine military spokesman Filemon Tan said troops were informed by Malaysian authorities that an abduction had been reported at about 7:30 p.m. The abduction occurred near Kunak, 80 miles south of Sandakan, Sabah.

Following Saturday’s kidnapping, Tan said militants were holding 24 people captive – five Malaysians, a Dutch national, a German, a South Korean, four Indonesians, six Vietnamese and six Filipinos.

Married or shackled males develop a program routine, that signals 'she just wants to talk, no problem solving here', in which they can be looking at their significant other talking to them and dump everything into a buffer cache usually with a further subroutine that utters a subdued response such as 'ah' or 'yep' sound or a physical nod.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Squirrel hospitalizes Chicago politician who spoke out against squirrels
Howard Brookins Jr., the alderman for Chicago’s 21st ward, had publicly spoken out about a toothy menace plaguing the city’s garbage carts: urban squirrels, which in Brookins’s view were "aggressive," and aggressively damaging the trash cart lids.

He now has another reason to dislike the rodents. One recently sent him to the hospital with a skull fracture in a "freak bicycle accident," as the alderman wrote on Facebook.

Brookins was biking along Cal-Sag Trail on Nov. 13, when a squirrel darted into his path. The squirrel cut Brookins’s bike trip short by wrapping itself in the spokes of the alderman’s bicycle. The alderman flipped over the handlebars and landed with such a severe impact that he fractured his skull, broke his nose and knocked out a handful of teeth, the Chicago Tribune reported. A woman who passed by called 911. Brookins was only able to leave the hospital Thursday.

"I can think of no other reason for this squirrel’s actions than that it was like a suicide bomber, getting revenge," the alderman said to the Tribune on Monday. He told the newspaper a full recovery was expected to take months.

Brookins had denounced the eastern gray squirrel just a few weeks before the accident. In mid-October, Brookins complained that "aggressive squirrels" were undermining the effort to overhaul the city’s trash carts, reported the Chicago Sun Times. The squirrels were gnawing through the garbage cart lids at a cost of $300,000 to the city.

"It’s a pet peeve. It does invoke some giggles. But we are spending too much money on replacing garbage carts because the squirrels continue to eat through ’em," Brookins said at a city council meeting on Oct. 21, according to the Sun Times. The alderman said that residents were repeatedly asking for replacement garbage cans, as the squirrels could chew through the lid within as little as two days.

After the accident, Brookins wrote on Facebook that he was okay, but he added he will undergo several surgeries "to recover from damage to my face and upper body." His chief of staff, James Ramos, told Chicagoist that Brookins was "in very good spirits" despite his "heavy damage."

The squirrel, however, was destined for the great Chicago garbage cart in the sky.

Sudan official denies rumors of Bashir’s death
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The office of Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir
Head of the National Congress Party. He came to power in 1989 when he, as a brigadier in the Sudanese army, led a group of officers in a bloodless military coup that ousted the government of Prime Minister Sadiq al-Mahdi and eventually appointed himself president-for-life. He has fallen out with his Islamic mentor, Hasan al-Turabi, tried to impose shariah on the Christian and animist south, resulting in its secessesion, and attempted to Arabize Darfur by unleashing the barbaric Janjaweed on it. Sudan's potential prosperity has been pissed away in warfare that has left as many as 400,000 people dead and 2.5 million displaced. Omar has been indicted for genocide by the International Criminal Court but nothing is expected to come of it.
denied rumors that the president has passed away of a heart attack.
"His excellency, the President-for-Life, is not dead yet."
Taha Othman, the director of Bashir’s office, told al-Arabiya.net that the president is in good health and is resuming his presidential tasks.
"Don't get your hopes up."
"I am sitting next to President Bashir in Morocco and enjoying the rain. We are getting ready to leave in a while to Guinea to participate in the Arab-African Summit," Othman said.
"At some point after that he will be dead."
A rumor had circulated on social media platforms claiming that the Sudanese president has died of a heart attack.
"More chili, Your Enormity?"
"[Belch!]"

The fourth Arab-African Summit will kick off on Wednesday in Guinea and last for two days.
"What's on the menu?"
"Enchiladas, Your Immensity!"
"Have somebody standing by with an EKG machine, just in case."
"Of course, Your Acreage!"
"Oh, and that thingy with the paddles, too."

The summit will discuss several issues such as the burden of debts in Africa in addition to fighting terrorism, resolving conflicts and improving political coordination and cooperation among Arab and African leaders regarding major issues such as the Paleostinian cause.

Nick Cannon: Planned Parenthood Committing ‘Real Genocide' Against Black Americans
[The Federalist] In an interview with "The Breakfast Club," a radio show in New York City, rapper Nick Cannon said Planned Parenthood is committing a genocide against black Americans.

"Hillary was sneaking and cheating," Cannon said. "Think about all the stuff they did with Planned Parenthood and all that type of stuff. That type of stuff is to take our community -- and forget gentrification, it’s real genocide, and it’s been like that for years. This system is not built for us."

He’s not wrong. Planned Parenthood’s founder, Margaret Sanger, was a racist and a eugenicist who wanted to stop "biologically unfit" persons from having children. She was a big hit when speaking to a woman’s chapter of the Klu Klux Klan, and confessed in a letter that she wanted to "exterminate the Negro population."

"We do not want word to get out that we want to exterminate the Negro population and the minister is the man who can straighten out the idea if it ever occurs to any of their more rebellious members," Sanger wrote in a letter dated from 1939. In 1934, Sanger proposed a federal law that would legislate who could have children. Here’s an excerpt:

Currently, Planned Parenthood kills more than 850 African-Americans a day in its abortion clinics. African-Americans account for 37 percent of all abortions, yet only represent 13 percent of the population.

#1  When women voluntarily go in for abortions, it is not genocide on behalf of the executioners. The culprit is a dysfunctional black community.
Posted by: Thromons Bluetooth1092 || 11/23/2016 3:14 Comments || Top||

#2  Abortion as a form of birth control, sort of explains the motivation for both sides, does it not ?

Additional motivations from the gov't could perhaps be found in the willful support of illegal immigration. An immigration of people who, due to their faith, denounce abortion as well as birth control. At the risk of sounding 'alt-right' I will leave it at that.
Posted by: Besoeker || 11/23/2016 3:51 Comments || Top||

#3  The culprit is a dysfunctional black community.

Don't take responsibility for one's own choices, blame everybody else for one's condition, and receive dispensation from one political wing for all your self destructive acts. Reward failure and punish success, guess what you get more of?
Posted by: Procopius2k || 11/23/2016 7:05 Comments || Top||

#4  The reality is that our species is not yet ready for birth control.

In pretty much every society that gives women the vote, and has easy access to birth control and sacramentalizes abortion, birth rates drop to demographic implosion levels within two or three generations. Western women in particular have done this, but a quick glance at the rest of the world shows that other nations are following suit as well.

What galls is the reasons that women give for this. When asked, it's always some platitude about "the environment" or "overpopulation" or some other nonsense. The reality is that they are motivated - especially in a post-Christian society - by a desire to maximize lifestyle and affluence, and by fear of losing the same, and by a fear of multiple childbirths damaging their ladyparts and causing incontinence, and by a fear that multiple childbirths will diminish their beauty and sexual currency, limiting their ability to manipulate men and have status versus other women. If that sounds harsh, tough. It's reality, outside of a core of a few decent women.

And yes, there are plenty of amoral, sociopathic men who go along for the ride.

The nation that will dominate in 150 years will be whichever one has women who want to have three or more children (if they are fertile enough to do so) at optimum childbearing age, actually have them in intact monogamous families, in a society where the family and not the apparatus of state is the basic unit of society. Right now the West isn't on that trajectory.

#5  The reality is that they are motivated - especially in a post-Christian society - by a desire to maximize lifestyle and affluence...

No mo uro nails it. Welcome to The Villages.

Posted by: Besoeker || 11/23/2016 7:46 Comments || Top||

#6  In addition to no mo uro's essay, I think that another related demotivating factor is that optimum childbearing age, is younger, in the West, than that which society supports. Biology prepares women to give birth earlier than society does. Somehow 30 is past biology's plan.
Posted by: AlanC || 11/23/2016 8:04 Comments || Top||

#7  It would seem wise for Christian preachers across America to promote their flocks to have three children each for God. 20 years later the number of believers will outnumber the unbelievers.
Posted by: rjschwarz || 11/23/2016 11:44 Comments || Top||

#8  AlanC is talking about prolonged adolescence. Off topic but society keeps kids of all races in high school where they have hardly any freedom and absolutely no earning potential until they are 18 years old. While in high school they are brainwashed with the idea that they must attend college if they want to be successful in our society. That keeps them in that state of minimal freedom and zero earning potential until they are in their mid-twenties which is past their sexual prime. Then they finally get turned loose to try to figure out what they are gonna do only to find there isn't much they can do and they stay in that limbo until their thirties. What are they learning all those years in our school system? Does anybody tell them that their jobs have been taken by workers in other countries? Are they taught how to start businesses of their own? Are they taught any kind of useful job skills? If any of them figure it out it's in spite of the educational system and not because of it. So the girls who get pregnant have no husbands. In the poor black communities they probably only have mothers who never had any better chance than they do. The communities are flooded with drugs due to a lack of border security, the young men lacking in legitimate opportunities turn to crime and up in jail in proportionately far higher numbers than the rest of the population. So yeah, genocide.

#11  So what if they are male? Being correct is not confined by gender. The content and logic of the argument matters, not the gender of the person delivering it. After all, abortion destroys a male or female human live without differentiation.
Posted by: Injun Bucket8891 || 11/23/2016 14:56 Comments || Top||

#12  Unregulated abortion and sex education from the moment I child enters the school system are the wet dream of our most liberal and immoral opponents.

What better way to ensure a continual supply of concubines than to ensure that our (too) young children know far to much about sex and that abortion will be there to erase any reminders of the downside of all of this knowledge. The powers that be aren't "worried, and wanting to help" the little jimmy's and susie's of the world--they are far more interested in getting them sexually active and hoping there is a *spillover* from that activity that lands (literally) in their lap.

Sebha’s ‘Monkey War’ set to end after agreement accepted by Awlad Sulaiman and Qaddadfa
[Libya Herald] Fighting in Sebha between the Alwad Sulaiman and Qaddadfa tribes which continued into its sixth day today appears to have been brought to an end. Fighting stopped late this afternoon, according to the city’s mayor Hamed Rafeh, following mediation by elders and notables from across Libya. An agreement by the two sides would be signed tomorrow, Wednesday, he told the Libya Herald.

"We hope that all the fighting be over and people will open shops and offices", he said.

He put the number of dead in the festivities in the mid 20s. Of those injured, which included 15 women and kiddies, 26 had been airlifted for urgent medical treatment to Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
and Misrata, he said.

The fighting between the long standing rivals was triggered when a monkey belonging a Qaddadfa shopkeeper supposedly annoyed girls from the Awlad Sulaiman, which then resulted in gunnies from the later killing both the monkey and its owner.

The peace agreement has rendered obsolete a decision on Monday by the House of Representatives (HoR) to set up a committee to mediate between the two tribes and end the fighting. However,
some people are alive only because it's illegal to kill them...
of potentially equally importance, the HoR also created another committee to investigate the wider problems in the city. These will include the current crime wave, policing and the security, as well as Sebha’s healthcare crisis and environmental issues, notably a collapse of the sewerage system.

FO terms Indian claims 'false and baseless'
[DAWN] The Foreign Office rejected Indian reports that the body of an Indian soldier was mutilated on the LoC.

"Pakistain strongly rejects the false and baseless media reports regarding the alleged mutilation of an Indian solider on the LoC.," said Nafees Zakaria, spokesperson for the Foreign Office.

The FO statement further added that the "reports are a fabrication and a blatant attempt to malign Pakistain"..

"The Pakistain Army, with its professional approach, is not involved in any such unethical and non-professional activity and neither does it support any such action," said the Foreign Office statement.

The fact is that India is constantly violating the 2003 Ceasefire Understanding, targeting civilians and trying to divert international attention from its atrocities in Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmire, said Zakaria.

[Dhaka Tribune] The High Court has ordered police to arrest the attackers of a father, who has lost his both legs in the attack for protesting the stalking of his daughter at Noldanga village in Kaliganj upazila of Jhenaidah, within 72 hours.

In a suo-moto rule, the HC bench of Justice Quazi Reza-Ul Hoque and Justice Mohammad Ullah yesterday also ordered the district superintendent of police to file a report in this regard before the court by November 27.

The HC move came as a news item on the incident, published in a daily newspaper yesterday, drew their attention.

Both legs of victim Shahanur Biswash had to be amputated because of his injuries he had received while the stalkers of his daughter beat him up on October 16, according to the report.

The father, who is a peasant, is undergoing treatment at the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (Nitor), popularly called Pangu Hospital.

After the incident, police had allegedly denied lodging any case against the attackers.

Later, Shahanur’s family filed two cases with a local court accusing 23 people.

Md Kamal, Kastobhanga union parishad member and also general secretary of local unit of Jubo League
... the youth wing of the Bangla Awami League...
‐ the youth front of ruling Awami League, has been made the prime accused, according to media report.

Later, the police incarcerated
Book 'im, Mahmoud!
two people, while the rest of the accused still remained on the lam.

Shahanur’s daughter has stopped going school fearing more attacks.

Omanis comment on Sultan Caboose’s first public appearance in a year
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Omanis took to social media to comment on their leader Sultan Qaboos’ first public appearance in nearly a year during their country’s National Day celebrations.

Wearing a military uniform, Qaboos appeared in good health as he was welcomed by high-ranking military and civilian officials before presiding over the parade.

The 76-year old Western-backed Qaboos had received a number of visitors in recent months, including US Secretary of State John F. I was in Vietnam, you know Kerry
Former Senator-for-Life from Massachussetts, self-defined war hero, speaker of French, owner of a lucky hat, conqueror of Cambodia, and current Secretary of State...

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Healdsburg dad drowned daughter in baptismal pool
[FOX5NY] A Healdsburg father has been tossed in the calaboose
Drop the heater, Studs, or you're hist'try!
in connection with the death of his 4-year-old daughter, authorities said Monday.

Gerardo Mendoza Ordaz, 42, of Healdsburg, was taken into custody and was being held Monday on suspicion of homicide. Police said they believe the father intentionally drowned the girl in a baptismal pool at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, located in the 200 block of Matheson Street in Healdsburg.

According to Healdsburg Police, the father was carrying his unresponsive daughter in the back lot of the cop shoppe Sunday around 8:30 p.m. He was yelling, "help," and "police."

Police say the father was naked, while the daughter was clothed. Another child, a 9-year-old boy was also there. He was partially clothed.

The girl was taken to the hospital where she later died.

In a written statement, church officials declined to comment about the case.

"Sunday night there was tragedy in the church; a little girl lost her life," said Sean Rodgers, a pastor at the church. "When police finish the investigation we will know more. In the meantime, please pray for the family, and the parish community."

DOJ fines Denver Sheriff Dept. for excluding noncitizens when hiring
[WASHINGTONEXAMINER] The Denver Sheriff Department will accept a penalty from the Department of Justice after a federal probe found it wrongly made U.S. citizenship a job requirement during a recent hiring spree.

The sheriff's department -- the biggest sheriff's office in Colorado -- will pay a $10,000 fine after it required applications for deputy sheriff jobs to be U.S. citizens when hiring from the beginning of 2015 through March 2016. The department went on a hiring spree of 200 deputies as part of its ongoing reform.

The department will also have to go through old applications to find applicants who were eliminated because of their citizenship status and reconsider them for future jobs.

The Justice Department made the announcement on Monday, saying the sheriff's department violated the Immigration and Nationality Act without having an exemption.

-Short Attention Span Theater-
Lee Harvey Oswald's Little Green Book Shows JFK Wasn't The Real Target
In the hours after the Kennedy assassination, after Lee Harvey Oswald shot and killed Dallas Police Officer J.D. Tippit and was identified as the president's assassin, a Secret Service officer named Mike Howard was dispatched to Oswald's apartment. Howard found a little green address book, and on its 17th page under the heading "I WILL KILL" Oswald listed four men: an FBI agent named James Hosty; a right-wing general, Edwin Walker; and Vice President Richard Nixon. At the top of the list was the governor of Texas, John Connally. Through Connally's name, Oswald had drawn a dagger, with blood drops dripping downward.

Special Agent Howard turned the address book over to the FBI and, ultimately, to the Warren Commission. Only some time later did he learn that the list with its hugely important insight into the killer's motive had been torn out of the book.

I didn't hear about Howard until after I published my book "The Accidental Victim" three years ago on the 50th anniversary of the assassination. In it I argue a circumstantial case that it was Connally, not John F. Kennedy, who was Oswald's target in Dallas. It is the story of a smoldering grudge in which Oswald came to associate Connally with all the setbacks in his disastrous, hopeless life.

#2  the 'Oswald really wanted to kill Connally' has been around the block before, e.g., in 2013.

It is, at least a step down from the more elaborate theories (CIA, mafia, LBJ, etc.).

a big problem with this theory is that Oswald had a good view of the vehicle and the people in it for quite a while as the President's car went toward him - Oswald knew who was sitting where and yet two of Oswald's shots hit JFK - if Oswald would have wanted to kill Connally, he presumably would have aimed at Connally.

Woman arrested in Jufra ‘not Belmokhtar’s wife’ say officials

They say that there was confusion of the identity of the woman’s husband and that while she is indeed married to a terrorist, it is a different Mohktar.

Her husband is now said to be Mokhtar Ben Omar al-Agouri, a Tunisian who is also a member of AQIM.

It is thought that he is is Jufra, to which the woman caught in an ambush two days ago by LNA forces near Mechili, south of Labraq, was said to be heading.

It is nonetheless believed that Belmokhtar is based in Libya, albeit further south.

The Grand Turk
Turkey's post-coup brain drain
[Deutsche Welle] After spending years researching abroad, Bekir Cinar returned to Turkey to as an academic. But this year, he was forced to leave the country again, when the university he worked at was shut down suddenly and many other academics were detained in the country. Just like Cinar, hundreds of academics who have worked overseas and returned to Turkey - only to become unemployed amid the government's post-coup purges - are leaving the country once again.

Since declaring a state of emergency and enforcing various decree laws after the coup attempt, nearly 110,000 Turkish civil servants have either been dismissed or detained; 36,000 have been arrested. In addition, all academics were banned from leaving the country. Education has been a notable target for the Turkish government since July 15's coup attempt. Since then, the government has shut down 15 universities and around 1,000 secondary education institutions.

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) confirms an uptick in interest in Germany among Turkish students and academics. Dr. Wiebke Bachmann, head of the DAAD in Istanbul, said that the number of students wanting to study in Germany has increased, as well as the number of academics wanting to continue their research in Germany.

Nil Mutluer, formerly the dean of the Nisantasi University Sociology Department, was sacked for signing the Academics for Peace petition. She's been in Germany for a few months now, and is lecturing at Berlin's Humboldt University. Mutluer also said that many academics who signed the petition have left the country or are planning on leaving - warning that the phenomenon extends further.

"This brain drain doesn't just include academics. Educated people, journalists, writers, artists, many people have left the country. I see many people from the middle class, businessmen, trying to find ways to leave. These were people who were happy in their county, who had studied abroad and returned home, and were living in peace. And I was one of them," she said. "But now it's not safe for us. We have to think of the safety of our children and their future as well."

Turkey’s ruling party withdraws controversial sexual abuse law
[RUDAW.NET] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
’s ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) has withdrawn a controversial law that may have pardoned the sexual abuse of minors if the convict agreed to marry the girl.

Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim announced on Tuesday that his party has withdrawn the motion at the Turkish parliament, in a presser at Istanbul’s Ataturk airport.

"These issues will be discussed at a (parliamentary) commission," Yildirim said. "If a proposal comes from them (the opposition), it will be developed. If not, we will fix the issue by taking the suggestions of NGOs, citizens, experts and academics," he was quoted as saying by Turkish media.

Yildirim added that the government wanted to heal some grievances in society through the amnesty law, but said he understands that other parties have different views and that this will now give a chance for other parties to set forward their proposals on this issue.

The law, which if passed, would have affected about 3,000 people who are currently in prison for breaking the child marriage, according to the state-run Anadolu Agency.

The controversial law, which faced strong resistance from the opposition parties and women’s rights organizations, stipulates that the sentence for the convict would be deferred if he marries the underage girl with her consent, and that of her family.

The bill received the majority vote in the Turkish parliament on Nov 17, and was supposed to receive a second vote today.

Fatwa House urges punishing killers of cleric Al-Omrani amid local, international condemnation
[Libya Observer] The Libyan Fatwa House and the Islamic Research and Studies Council called in a statement Tuesday for exacting punishment on all those who plotted and partook in the murdering of sheikh Nadir al-Omrani.

"Punishment for criminals is an implementation of Allah’s words and a deterrence for other criminals." The statement reads.

"Shiekh al-Omrani was assassinated because of his moderate religious thinking and his renunciation of faceless myrmidons and radicals, who are most likely the ones who killed him based on misleading fatwas coming from outside Libya, just like they did with scholars and preachers in Benghazi." The statement adds.

Relatedly, the Presidential Council of the UN-proposed government said it is following the news about al-Omrani’s death with grave concern, condemning the crime and saying that those who committed it are nothing but immoral culprits who shed the blood of Moslems without batting an eye.

The General National Congress also offered condolences for the family of sheikh al-Omrani and Libyans as well as the Islamic world, saying it hails the current efforts to arrest the perpetrators and calling on all the relevant authorities to do what it takes to reveal the truth behind the murder.

Moreover, the Libyan Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Ministry, Libya Scholars Authority and Libya Scholars Association as well as the Salvation Government, Libya Moslem Brüderbund Group, and others all reacted in condemnation of the crime and urged for immediate investigations to reveal the truth behind his liquidation.

The Head of the UNSMIL, Martin Kobler also condemned on Twitter the killing of al-Omrani, who was kidnapped on October 06, offering condolences and sympathy for his family.

"This is a crime against moderation and a proof that extremism and radicalism have already lost their fight." Many Islamic organizations and scholars worldwide said.

Dr. al-Omrani was a professor of Hadith and Sunna at Libyan universities as well as a member at the Libyan Fatwa House and Secretary General of the Libyan Scholars Organization, in addition to being a vice president of Arab Maghreb Scholars Association, a member of the Moslem Scholars Association and the Head of the Scholarly Committee of the Libyan Commission of Islamic Finance.

Hideout, documents belonging to 'terrorists' who fought security forces in Halabja discovered
[RUDAW.NET] A group of suspected "terrorists" locked up in festivities with a number of Kurdish security personnel at a village near the Kurdish city of Halabja earlier this week were bumped off and maimed and a haven used by the group was later discovered, according to a statement by the Kurdish security establishment.

The Kurdistan Region’s Security Council (KRSC) also said that three security members were slightly maimed in the festivities with the myrmidons.

The security forces "received information through people from the Halabja province that some strange hard boyz were present in the region... On October 19, near Sirwan River and Boin village, some hard boyz were seen and later festivities broke out between security members and the myrmidons."

"A haven used by the group, which contained a lot of ammunition and documents, was later discovered, with some holy warriors killed and others maimed," the statement added.

In the raid, "three Asaish (security) members were maimed," it detailed.

Meanwhile,
...back at the comedy club, Boogie was cracking himself up, but nobody else seemed to be getting the non-stop jokes...
the acting Halabja Governor Ali Othman told Rudaw earlier this week that identities of the gunnies who attacked the Peshmerga on Saturday were still unknown.

But one local official from the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) said that the hard boyz were associated with ISIS.

In late August, Kurdish security forces rubbed out four gunnies identified as ISIS hard boyz in the Azhdagh Mountain in Sangaw in southern Sulaimani.

Infiltrators take shelter in Pak Rangers’ post
[Daily Excelsior] The BSF early today foiled seventh major infiltration attempt post September 29 surgical strikes on the International Border (IB) in Suchetgarh sector, killing a terror guide and forcing two others to retreat. Several Pakistain made items were found in possession of the terror guide, which has once again exposed the hand of the neighbour behind infiltration of holy warriors.

The BSF would lodge strong protest with Pakistain over role of the Rangers in facilitating infiltration attempt by the bandidos Death Eaters as CCTV footage available with it showed that two bandidos Death Eaters had fled back to Pakistain and took shelter in a post of the Rangers after terror guide was killed on the border in wee hours of this morning.

Inspector General of BSF, Jammu Frontiers, DK Upadhyaya told news hounds at Octroi Post in RS Pura sector after visiting the site of infiltration attempt, that the alert BSF troops observed movement of an infiltrator in Suchetgarh sector of RS Pura tehsil at 4.30 am today when he was trying to enter into the Indian territory taking advantage of dead ground, thick gross, dark hours and fog.

After truce, Hadi makes changes in Yemen military
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] President Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi issued several military changes in Yemen, including the appointment of a new Deputy Chief of General Staff after the truce ended on Monday due to Houthi
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The Yemeni government has accused the Houthis of having ties to the Iranian government, which wouldn't suprise most of us. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews ...
violations.

The president appointed Major General Ahmed Saif al-Yafei Deputy Chief of General Staff, Brigadier General Saleh Mohammed as first commander of the military district in Hadhramaut.

The changes came in response to criticism of military leaders failing to push forward against the Houthi militias, mainly in Marib ‐ which has seen months-long festivities between Houthis and Yemeni forces backed by the Arab coalition.
Clashes in Hadhramaut

Meanwhile coinciding with the decision to change the commander of Hadhramaut, gunnies dressed in al-Qaeda clothing attacked on Monday the military forces in the area. The gunnies were reportedly captured, however their identities were not revealed.

[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The Specialized Criminal Court in Riyadh held the first hearing in the against 13 Saudi women, among them sisters, on charges of participating in rallies, protests and demonstrations in Buraydah in the al-Qassim region.

The public prosecutor said that the women have participated in protests after answering calls on social media with slogans to overthrow the regime and burn photos of the minister of interior.

The public prosecutor asked the warden to legally condemn them and charge them with charges, including imposing a travel ban.

Two lawyers attended the hearing representing four of the accused women. Thirteen other women who were earlier released refused to appear before the judge.

The judge confirmed during the hearing that was attended by Al Arabiya and many other media outlets that the 13 accused should be present in the next hearing as he requested to hear their direct response to the accusations.

When one of the lawyers said that he could not confirm their presence in the next hearing due to the distance beween Qassim and Riyadh, the judge vowed to provide housing and tickets to facilitate their attendance.

After handing them the list of charges, the judge called on the lawyers of the four ladies to have a detailed response within a month.

Apple is reportedly trying to move iPhone manufacturing to the US
[THEVERGE] Apple is reportedly asking its manufacturing partners to investigate moving iPhone production to the United States, according to the Japanese newspaper Nikkei. According to the report, sources claim that Apple has approached Foxconn and Pegatron, the two manufacturing companies that are largely responsible for assembling iPhones. Foxconn is apparently exploring the possibility, while Pegatron has elected to decline due to cost concerns.

According to the Nikkei, Apple made the request to explore moving manufacturing to its partners in June, prior to President-elect Donald Trump’s victory in the recent election. But despite that, this report has to be considered in light of Trump’s comments regarding Apple earlier this year. Trump has repeatedly suggested that Apple move its manufacturing back to the US. His most recent comments were made in January at a talk at Liberty University where Trump said, “We're gonna get Apple to start building their damn computers and things in this country, instead of in other countries."

Moving iPhone production overseas would likely be a pricey endeavor, with Nikkei sources claiming that it would increase production costs by nearly 50 percent, which makes sense given that the vast majority of Apple’s part suppliers are already located in Asia. Motorola also tried to move smartphone manufacturing to America, but the experiment ended in 2014 when Motorola closed the factory due to costs. Apple has made some efforts in bringing hardware production back to America in the past — most notably, the Mac Pro in 2013, when the company invested over $100 million dollars to jumpstart production — but relocating iPhone manufacturing to the United States would be a move of a vastly different scale.
It's the supply chain, something that is as intricately orchestrated as anything you'll find on the planet. Moving assembly or some production to the U.S. would be simply an enormous undertaking, even if you could find thousands of US workers who would be willing to do the assembly jobs that still can't be done by machines and robots.

Govt declares 21 junior officers as deadwood, terminates services
[Daily Excelsior] The Government today ordered termination of services of 21 Government employees of various departments after declaring them as deadwood on the basis of reports obtained against them from the Vigilance Organisation.

Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, who holds charge of General Administration Department (GAD), approved the proposal today after which the GAD issued individual termination orders to all 21 Government employees giving them compulsory retirement by invoking Article 226 against them.

Official sources told the Excelsior that the officers/officials terminated from the Government services today belonged to Public Health Engineers (PHE), Power Development Department (PDD), Consumer Affairs and Civil Supplies Distribution Department, Revenue etc.

The Government didn’t release the list of Government officers declared as deadwood to the media. Instead, it directly dispatched termination notices individually to all 21 officers informing them that they have been declared as deadwood and, accordingly, removed from the services in view of corruption and other charges of irregularities and that their services were no more required to the Government.

The terminated officers were picked up as they had completed mandatory requirements under the Government Service Rules like their age, particular period of services. They will be paid 3-month salary in advance.

However,
some people are alive only because it's illegal to kill them...
what has raised question mark over the Government’s drive to weed out corruption from the Government offices was the fact that no senior or higher ranking officer falls in the list of dismissed officers/officials and only junior and low ranking officers have been dismissed.

Terrorism’s decreasing numbers
[DAWN] NUMBERS, like words, tell stories. In recent years, the stories told by the numbers of Pakistain have mostly been sad ones that have largely to do with death. Collectively, they enumerate deaths from disease, deaths in childbirth, deaths at the hands of loved ones and the country’s security/state apparatus. Meanwhile,
...back at the barn, Bossy's udder had begun to ache...
the numbers of deaths from terrorist attacks have been responsible for the state of the most bereft. We have, over the years, counted dead children, dead mothers, dead fathers, dead governors and dead prime ministers. People have died at terror’s hands while shopping, while taking their children to school, while praying and in hospitals while already dying.

It is, therefore, some small solace that one new set of numbers, delivered by the Institute for Economics and Peace, an American think tank, suggests the possibility of hope, of some reprieve after nearly two decades of death’s devastation. According to numbers collected by the Global Terrorism Index (GTI), a set of data collected and maintained by the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism at the University of Maryland, there were 677 fewer deaths from terrorism in Pakistain in 2015. Overall, Pakistain saw the third largest decrease in deaths from terrorism worldwide, followed by Iraq and Nigeria. The improvement followed a global trend, with the number of deaths from terrorist attacks decreasing by 10 per cent. Along with Pakistain, 76 countries improved their scores in 2015.

This is welcome news for Pakistain, scarred and maimed as it is by the scourge of terrorism and its implications. Not only has the shadow of the sudden deaths of innocent people inculcated a deep sense of paranoia in those who have lived, it has ripped the fragile threads of national unity, religious tolerance and general civility. Even as terror’s shadow seems to recede, the future promises its own challenges.

All crosses were removed, religious scripts scraped off the walls and all references to the Assyrian King Benham who builty the monastery were removed.

"Their fundamental goal was to destroy Christian history and civilisation in the Nineveh plains," Duraid Elias, commander of Assyrian militia Babylon Brigades, told Rooters.

More than 1,000 Iranian combatants KIA in Syria
[AFP] More than 1,000 combatants sent from Iran to fight in support of President Bashar al-Assad in Syria have been killed in the conflict, the head of Iran’s veterans’ affairs office said Tuesday.

“The number of martyrs from our country defending the shrines has now passed 1,000,” Tasnim news agency quoted Mohammad Ali Shahidi Mahalati, the head of Iran’s Foundation of Martyrs’ and Veterans’ Affairs, as saying.

Iran has sent military advisers, as well as fighters recruited from Afghanistan and Pakistan, to work with Assad’s forces. They are known in Iran as “defenders of the shrines” in reference to Shiite holy sites in Syria.

Shahidi did not specify the nationalities of those killed.

The Fatemiyoun Division of Afghan recruits organized by Iran comprises the majority of volunteers sent from Iran to fight in Syria and Iraq. Iran says they are sent to fight against Sunni extremists such as ISIS.

The Islamic republic denies having any boots on the ground in Syria, and insists its commanders and generals of the elite Revolutionary Guards’ foreign operations wing act as “military advisers” both there and in Iraq.

Iranian media regularly report on the death of Iranian, Afghan and Pakistani “martyrs” in Syria, whose bodies are buried in Iran.

Turkey issues warrant for PYD leader Salih Muslim over Ankara bombing
[RUDAW.NET] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
has issued an arrest warrant for Salih Moslem, co-leader of the Syrian Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD), for alleged connections to an Ankara bombing last year which killed 28 people.

The state-run Anadolu Agency reported on Tuesday that arrest warrants had been issued for Moslem and 47 others, including some top leaders of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), including Murat Karayilan and Cemil Bayik, both founding members of the group.

Turkey regards PYD as the Syrian wing of the PKK.

February’s bombing targeted military busses during the evening rush hour. The PYD denied involvement after it was accused of the bombing following the attack.

Just days after the attack, another Kurdish group, the Kurdistan Freedom Hawks (TAK) grabbed credit, saying it carried out the attack to show its opposition to policies of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan
... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him...
The perpetrator, according to TAK, was a 26-year-old Turkish national from the eastern Turkish city of Van.

The then Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, however, named the Ankara bomber as Salih Necar, a Syrian national and member of the Syrian Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG), the military wing of the PYD.

USS Zumwalt Sidelined in Panama Following New Engineering Casualty
USS Zumwalt (DDG-1000) is pier side following an engineering casualty the ship suffered transiting the Panama Canal, U.S. Navy officials told USNI News on Monday. The guided missile destroyer will undergo repairs at a former U.S. naval station until its fit to complete its journey to Naval Station San Diego, Calif., U.S. 3rd Fleet spokesman Cmdr. Ryan Perry told USNI News.

The ship was in the midst of a southbound transit through the canal when it suffered the casualty, Under orders from U.S. 3rd Fleet commander Vice Adm. Nora Tyson, Zumwalt is now stopped for repairs at the former U.S. Naval Station Rodman, he said.

“The timeline for repairs is being determined now, in direct coordination with Naval Sea Systems and Naval Surface Forces,” he said. “The schedule for the ship will remain flexible to enable testing and evaluation in order to ensure the ship’s safe transit to her new homeport in San Diego.”

A defense official told USNI News on Tuesday the repairs could take up to ten days.

The ship lost propulsion in its port shaft during the transit and the crew saw water intrusion in two of the four bearings that connect to Zumwalt’s port and starboard Advanced Induction Motors (AIMs) to the drive shafts, a defense official told USNI News on Tuesday. The AIMs are the massive electrical motors that are driven by the ship’s gas turbines and in turn electrically power the ship’s systems and drive the shafts.

Both of the shafts locked during the passage and the transit had to be completed with tugs. The ship made minor contact with lock walls in the canal resulting in minor cosmetic damage. Following the transit, the Navy determined the ship couldn’t continue to its new homeport at Naval Station San Diego without additional repairs.

The latest casualty follows an incident in September following the ship’s transit from shipbuilder General Dynamics Bath Iron Works, Maine to Naval Station Norfolk, Va. in which the crew discovered “a seawater leak in the propulsion motor drive lube oil auxiliary system for one of the ship’s shafts,” the Navy told USNI News at the time. A service official told USNI News the most recent incident is similar. The service has narrowed down the likely problem to lube oil coolers leaking. The service replaced all four lube oil coolers following the September casualty.

Following its Oct. 15 commissioning, Zumwalt suffered additional unspecified engineering trouble around the time arrived at Naval Station Mayport, Fla. and spent extra time repairing and testing the propulsion system, USNI News understands.

Zumwalt entered the Panama Canal following a successful port visit to Colombia last week – a visit which the service intended to skip if it thought the engineering problems would continue, several defense officials told USNI News.

The ship’s engineering plant – the Integrated Power System (IPS) – is arguably the most complex and unique in the service. Installing and testing the system — that provides ship additional power margins to power high energy weapons and sensors — was a primary reason the ship delivered months late to the service.

Before the casualty, the ship was set to arrive in San Diego by the end of the year and start weapon system activation period before joining the fleet as an operational warship sometime in 2018.

Zumwalt is the first of three in the $22-billion class. Michael Monsoor (DDG-1001) and Lyndon B. Johnson (DDG-1002) are currently under construction at BIW.

And this from July 30, 2011...

This month, a bipartisan group of seven U.S. senators demanded that the Pentagon explain why Freedom, the first of the new littoral combat ships, suffered a small but worrisome crack in its hull and had to return to its homeport of San Diego for repairs.

The group, led by Arizona Republican and former naval aviator John McCain, also asked why an even newer, different version of the ship named Independence developed “aggressive” corrosion in its propulsion system.

The Navy continues to lack a single ship that is operationally effective or reliable,” McCain told Greenert.

And don't forget, that the reason the Iranians captured and humiliated our sailors very recently was because their ship broke down and drifted into their waters.

Shiite force launches next phase to ‘isolate and encircle’ Turkmen Tal Afar
[RUDAW.NET] The Shiite-led Hashd al Shaabi paramilitary force on Tuesday launched stage four of its offensive to "isolate and encircle" the largely Turkmen city of Tal Afar, west of djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
, where the Shiite forces liberated a village and a road close to the city today.

"The fourth stage of the ’We Are Coming Nineveh’ operation on the western front has begun, where the Legions of Victory continue their march to clear the rest of the usurped land," a Hashd statement said.

"The operation aims to isolate and fully encircle Tal Afar city in preparation for its liberation from the ISIS dirt," Ahmad al-Assadi, the spokesperson for the Shiite forces said in a statement.

The Hashd al-Shaabi had already claimed on Friday that forces had encircled the city from two sides, south and west.

They liberated the village of Khirab al-Jihash and the road between the villages of Zariqi and al-Shariah on Tuesday.

The Hashd al Shaabi, which says it has an armed force of 140,000 fighters, began its offensive southwest and west of Mosul on October 29, almost two weeks after the start of the Mosul operation by the Iraqi and Kurdish forces.

A week ago the group said that it had an area of 14,000 sq. km to recapture from ISIS.

"The front that has been tasked to the Hashd al-Shaabi is one of the most significant and most dangerous fronts in this operation," al-Assadi said last month.

He added that the Hashd "is tasked with one of the widest areas, ranging from Qayyara in the west, Tal Afar in the north to the Mosul outskirts in the east and some areas on the Syrian-Iraqi border to the west."

Assadi had also claimed that the area is vital and important for its geostrategic location between Iraq and Syria ‐ where ISIS has its caliphate in the city of Raqqa -- but also because the bully boys’ top leader is believed to be there.

"The intelligence information indicates that their self-proclaimed caliph, the terrorist His Supreme Immensity, Caliph of the Faithful and Galactic Overlord, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi
...formerly merely the head of ISIL and a veteran of the Bagram jailhouse. Looks like a new messiah to bajillions of Moslems, like just another dead-eyed mass murder to the rest of us...
, is usually present between Tal Afar and Baaj," Assadi said.

When the paramilitaries began operations more than three weeks ago, they said the largely Turkmen town of Tal Afar was among areas they wanted to liberate.

"The maimed and victimized town of Tal Afar and other towns will be among the areas (Hashd al-Shaabi) will liberate," Asadi said in late October.

The Shiite militia said a week ago that decision is now with Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi and reaffirmed that the Iraqi federal police and the Iraqi army will enter the town.

Earlier this month Abadi told a delegation of tribal leaders from Tal Afar that the Hashd force will not enter the Turkmen town. He said that Iraqi forces would be given that responsibility.

The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
had warned the Shiite forces against entering Tal Afar, for fear the force would brutalize the town’s population, which is largely Turkmen and a mix of Sunnis and Shiites.

Trump’s supposed ‘Muslim registry’ is just more fake news
[NYPOST] The first thing to know about Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
’s alleged proposal for a Moslem registry is that it isn’t a Moslem registry.

This has been lost in a freakout that has some brave souls already promising acts of civil disobedience to disrupt and overwhelm the prospective registry. The controversy tells us much more about how the media will cover the Trump administration -- i.e., through the lens of fact-free hysteria -- than about the administration’s immigration enforcement agenda.

The source of the fracas is a comment from Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach, a Trump immigration adviser and (excellent) candidate for homeland security director, to Rooters. Kobach noted that the administration might reinstate a Bush-era program tracking visitors to the United States from countries with active terrorist threats. This suggestion was spun into a first step toward herding our Moslem neighbors into internment camps.

Kobach was referring to the National Security Entry-Exit Registration System, or NSEERS, which placed special requirements on adult male visitors from countries like Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
. Implemented after 9/11 -- when, you might recall, adult male visitors from Saudi Arabia toppled the World Trade Center -- it collected fingerprints and photographs when visitors from the select countries arrived and required them to check in periodically to confirm that they were abiding by the terms of their visas.

It also required that certain individuals from these countries who were already here go through a process of "special registration," including an interview with immigration officials. This is a far cry from FDR’s notorious Executive Order 9066 setting in motion the Japanese internment of World War II.

It’s true, as the critics point out, that the selected countries all were, with the exception of North Korea, majority-Moslem. But any program concerned with international terrorism will inevitably focus largely on Moslem countries (although European countries like La Belle France and Belgium have developed an indigenous terror threat).

The 9/11 hijackers, notably, all came from majority-Moslem countries.

Man confesses to Omrani murder, links to Rada alleged
[Libya Herald] There are reports in Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
today that Sheikh Nadir al-Omrani , the associate of Grand Mufti Sadik al-Ghariani who was kidnapped in Tripoli on 6 October has been murdered.

A man named as Haitham al-Zintani was shown on a video made by Tripoli’s Criminal Investigation Board (CIB) and published on its Facebook page apparently confessing to his role in the Sheikh’s abduction and subsequent killing.

It is alleged that the murder was an act of sectarian rivalry, carried out by supporters of Saudi holy man Rabee al-Madkhali in the south Tripoli suburb of Esbiaa and allegedly linked to the Rada ("Deterrence") forces.

In the video, Zintani claims that a colleague had put Omrani in a hole in the ground and after accusing him of misleading the public with supposedly false religious views, had shot and then buried him.

In a potentially explosive development, he claimed the head the Esbiaa branch of the anti-crime board was the man who killed Omrani and its premises as the place where he was held for a month and then murdered.

He also alledged that Omrani, a member of Ghariani’s Dar al-Ifta, had been chosen because his Salafist version of Islam was different to that of Madkhali, that the kidnaping and murder had been planed three months in advance, and that it had been ordered by a top Egyptian Madkhali holy man and agreed by the group’s mufti in Libya.

Other Dar al-Ifta members were also supposedly on a death list.

Madkahli supporters are known to be ideologically opposed to Ghariani and his followers. It is also claimed that they include numerous members of the Rada forces led by Abdulrauf Kara.

In a statement this afternoon, Rada denied any involvement in Omrani’s death and promised to track down the killers.

"The force condemns strongly this crime but also condemns
suggestions that it was involved in it. We call all relevant bodies
including the General Attorney to open an urgent investigation into the
    incident," it stated.

"The person who appeared in the video does not work for us," it added, nor was then any relationship with the man who had supposedly shot Omrani,

For its part, the Dar al-Ifta Dar al-Ifta has called for Omrani and others allegedly involved to be punished as soon as possible, describing them as "deviants".

France to help ICC prosecute ISIS militants in Syria
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] La Belle France is "ready to cooperate" with the International Criminal Court to probe ISIS hard boyz in Syria for war crimes, Foreign Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault said on Monday.
A new job for Carla del Ponte!
The ICC, founded in 2002, is the world’s only permanent war crimes court. But moves so far to refer Syria to The Hague-based body have been unsuccessful as Russia has blocked them with its veto in the UN Security Council.

The UN go-ahead is needed as Syria is not a member state.

Ayrault told AFP that action "can be launched it they concern (French) nationals who are engaged in the war in Syria alongside ISIS," using another name for ISIS.

"We are ready to cooperate and give our backing if there is a track to follow," he said. "Even if the margin for manoeuvre is limited, it’s a chance to recall that we do not accept impunity."

Russia dealt the International Criminal Court a blow Wednesday saying it was formally withdrawing its signature to the tribunal’s founding Rome Statute.

"The court did not live up to the hopes associated with it and did not become truly independent," Russia’s foreign ministry said, describing its work as "one-sided and inefficient".

Ayrault said the "action is symbolic and political which I regret because it would have been preferable that Russia does the opposite" and ratifies the founding Rome Statute.

He was in The Hague for the annual meeting of the court’s member states who ware discussing among other things how to bring those guilty of crimes in Syria to justice.

In May 2014, La Belle France presented a draft resolution calling for war crimes to be investigated in Syria, but the measure was defeated when Russia and China vetoed the request.

A country that has signed up to the Rome treaty or whose citizens have been the victims of crimes may refer cases to the ICC’s chief prosecutor for investigation.

Cases may also be referred by the UN Security Council, and the prosecutor can initiate her own investigations with permission from the judges providing member states are involved, or a non-member state can agree to accept the court’s jurisdiction.

New U.N. chief says politicians are failing 'losers of globalization'
[Yahoo] The incoming head of the United Nations warned on Tuesday that "losers of globalization" in rich countries have felt ignored by establishment politicians, prompting them to turn to nationalist agendas, as in the U.S. election and Brexit referendum.
So... if the rich countries are "losers", why the fucking holy hell would they want to be in your mad scheme?
Antonio Guterres, elected in October to take over as U.N. secretary general next year,
I missed that. Is he any better than Ban Ki Moon or Boutros Boutros Gali, or any of the rest of the flaccid nonentities who have been compromised into the job in recent years?
told a conference in his native Lisbon that this trend had undermined the willingness to receive refugees in Europe this year.

He said the world must re-establish international protection for refugees coming from war zones such as Syria, but it would not be easy as developed countries were turning to nationalist agendas.
Not hard when your "refugees" act as colonists and attack the natives.
Europe has struggled to handle a huge influx of refugees, many of whom displaced by the war in Syria. The United States has accepted only a very small number of refugees and may take in even fewer next year.
Send 'em back via nuclear missile.
"In 2016, we have witnessed a dramatic deterioration of that international protection regime (for refugees)," Guterres said.

"This example started in the developed world, it started essentially in Europe, it is spreading now like a virus into other parts of the world."

Guterres, who was U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees until last year, linked the growing resistance to accepting refugees to wider concerns about globalization.

"I don't think we can look strictly at the refugee issue, I think the problem is a broader problem," he told the conference on Europe's refugee crisis.

There was a consensus in the mid-1990s that globalization would benefit all, he said.
Well, those in power. As you stated the rich countries get fucked.
"But a lot of people were left behind ... In the developed world, (there are) those who have been losers in globalization," he said. "The recent analysis of the rust belt in the United States, I think, is a clear demonstration of that, when we speak about the elections."

Donald Trump won this month's election in the United States in part thanks to support from voters who have seen their jobs lost to countries with cheaper labor.

"So globalization has not been as successful as we had hoped and lots of people became not only angry with it, but feeling that political establishments and international organizations are not paying attention, were not taking care (of them)," he said.

This led to what he called "a kind of evolution" in which anti-establishment parties now tended to win elections and referendums tended to attract majorities against whatever was put to a vote.
I vote we fire your asses into the sun.

How long have you had Palestinian refugee camps from the '48 war? You don't have solutions and only offer unending occupations. Syrian Army officially forms 5th Corps
[ALMASDARNEWS] On Tuesday afternoon, the Syrian Arab Army's High Command announced the creation of the 5th Corps after restructuring several units in the armed forces.

The 5th Army Corps will be comprised of several newly formed divisions and brigades that will be structured similar to the other 4 army corps in the Syrian Arab Army.

According to a military source in Damascus, the 5th Corps will have training bases all over Syria, with one of the largest camps located in the Rif Dimashq town of Qatana.

Qatana is already home to the Syrian Arab Army's 10th Armored Division, so the additional soldiers in the 5th Corps will likely share the facilities.

The 5th Army Corps will also take over the 15th Special Forces Division base in al-Sweida; this camp has been relatively unused since the special forces moved to Latakia, Damascus, and Tartous.

    Washington's Thanksgiving Proclamation
Issued by President George Washington, at the request of Congress, on October 3, 1789

By the President of the United States of America, a Proclamation.

Whereas it is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and humbly to implore His protection and favor; and--Whereas both Houses of Congress have, by their joint committee, requested me "to recommend to the people of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer, to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many and signal favors of Almighty God, especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness:"

Now, therefore, I do recommend and assign Thursday, the 26th day of November next, to be devoted by the people of these States to the service of that great and glorious Being who is the beneficent author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be; that we may then all unite in rendering unto Him our sincere and humble thanks for His kind care and protection of the people of this country previous to their becoming a nation; for the signal and manifold mercies and the favor, able interpositions of His providence in the course and conclusion of the late war; for the great degree of tranquillity, union, and plenty which we have since enjoyed; for the peaceable and rational manner in which we have been enabled to establish constitutions of government for our safety and happiness, and particularly the national one now lately instituted; for the civil and religious liberty with which we are blessed, and the means we have of acquiring and diffusing useful knowledge; and, in general, for all the great and various favors which He has been pleased to confer upon us.

And also that we may then unite in most humbly offering our prayers and supplications to the great Lord and Ruler of Nations, and beseech Him to pardon our national and other trangressions; to enable us all, whether in public or private stations, to perform our several and relative duties properly and punctually; to render our National Government a blessing to all the people by constantly being a Government of wise, just, and constitutional laws, discreetly and faithfully executed and obeyed; to protect and guide all sovereigns and nations (especially such as have shown kindness to us), and to bless them with good governments, peace, and concord; to promote the knowledge and practice of true religion and virtue, and the increase of science among them and us; and, generally, to grant unto all mankind such a degree of temporal prosperity as He alone knows to be best.

Given under my hand at the City of New York the third day of October in the year of our Lord 1789.

    #4  The real one:

    Washington, D.C.
    October 3, 1863

By the President of the United States of America.

    A Proclamation.

The year that is drawing towards its close, has been filled with the blessings of fruitful fields and healthful skies. To these bounties, which are so constantly enjoyed that we are prone to forget the source from which they come, others have been added, which are of so extraordinary a nature, that they cannot fail to penetrate and soften even the heart which is habitually insensible to the ever watchful providence of Almighty God. In the midst of a civil war of unequalled magnitude and severity, which has sometimes seemed to foreign States to invite and to provoke their aggression, peace has been preserved with all nations, order has been maintained, the laws have been respected and obeyed, and harmony has prevailed everywhere except in the theatre of military conflict; while that theatre has been greatly contracted by the advancing armies and navies of the Union. Needful diversions of wealth and of strength from the fields of peaceful industry to the national defence, have not arrested the plough, the shuttle or the ship; the axe has enlarged the borders of our settlements, and the mines, as well of iron and coal as of the precious metals, have yielded even more abundantly than heretofore. Population has steadily increased, notwithstanding the waste that has been made in the camp, the siege and the battle-field; and the country, rejoicing in the consciousness of augmented strength and vigor, is permitted to expect continuance of years with large increase of freedom. No human counsel hath devised nor hath any mortal hand worked out these great things. They are the gracious gifts of the Most High God, who, while dealing with us in anger for our sins, hath nevertheless remembered mercy. It has seemed to me fit and proper that they should be solemnly, reverently and gratefully acknowledged as with one heart and one voice by the whole American People. I do therefore invite my fellow citizens in every part of the United States, and also those who are at sea and those who are sojourning in foreign lands, to set apart and observe the last Thursday of November next, as a day of Thanksgiving and Praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the Heavens. And I recommend to them that while offering up the ascriptions justly due to Him for such singular deliverances and blessings, they do also, with humble penitence for our national perverseness and disobedience, commend to His tender care all those who have become widows, orphans, mourners or sufferers in the lamentable civil strife in which we are unavoidably engaged, and fervently implore the interposition of the Almighty Hand to heal the wounds of the nation and to restore it as soon as may be consistent with the Divine purposes to the full enjoyment of peace, harmony, tranquillity and Union.

In testimony whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the United States to be affixed.

Done at the City of Washington, this Third day of October, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty-three, and of the Independence of the United States the Eighty-eighth.

Russian Media Outlet Lenta.ru Tells Story Of Russia's Lone Aircraft Carrier, Admiral Kuznetsov
"On October 27, the Russian media outlet Lenta.ru published a lengthy report on the history of the Russian carrier Admiral Kuznetsov, titled "Fire In The Sky, Why Admiral Kuznetsov Is Smoking."
As I noted before when we talked about this ship, the 2010 refit now allows it to burn wood and peat...
The article's author, Ilya Kramnik, explains that the Russian aircraft carrier's creation was the result of many compromises and palliative decisions. After departing Severomorsk on October 15, the Admiral Kuznetsov reached Syria on November 12. Russia's aircraft carrier has already been involved in large-scale operations to deliver strikes in the Syrian provinces of Idlib and Homs.

#1  The Russian navy still needs planes capable of providing cover for its deployment off the coast – primarily in order to defend its own sea borders in the Arctic and in the Pacific Ocean.

Hold on, hold on: I know I'm not a Navy guy, but isn't this exactly *not* why you go to all the expense and trouble of building and maintaining aircraft carriers? I though they were to project power far afield, not for defense close to home. That's how we, the Brits, and French do it. That's how the Indians and Chinese are going to do it. Or am I missing something here?

    #2  Secret Master,

There is a school of thought - growing in recent years - that the Kuznetsov was designed not to go up against the USN's supercarriers but rather to protect the USSR's missile sub bastions against NATO patrol planes. That idea does make sense when you remember that a single squadron of F-14s would have sliced and diced the Kuznetsov's 10-plane air group without even working up a sweat, and although there was a lot of talk at the time about the carriers going north (something that scared the hell out of the Soviets) the Navy regarded that as a scare tactic more than anything else.

There was never any realistic chance that the projected Soviet carriers could take on the old Cold War carrier force (the USN plus the 2 French carriers), so there's the likelihood that the only reason they were built in the first place was so the USSR could say, "We have carriers too, fear us!!"

[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] A photo apparently showing a family of six killed in a suspected chlorine gas attack in rebel-held eastern Aleppo, has gone viral on social media.

If genuine it would not be the first picture from Aleppo showing civilians, including women and kiddies being killed in the heavy bombardments carried out by Russian and Syrian Arclight airstrikes.

On Sunday it is claimed a helicopter struck the Al Sakhour neighborhood with chlorine gas killing the four siblings and their father.

Media activists from Aleppo told Al Arabiya English that the mother died shortly after from shock.
