New JSOC entity gets global mission
[Wash Times] The Obama administration is giving the elite Joint Special Operations Command -- the same organization that helped kill Osama bin Laden in a 2011 raid by Navy SEALs -- expanded power to track, plan and potentially launch attacks on terrorist cells around the globe, a move driven by concerns of a dispersed terrorist threat as Islamic State militants are driven from strongholds in Iraq and Syria, U.S. officials said.

The missions could occur well beyond the battlefields of places like Iraq, Syria and Libya where Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) has carried out clandestine operations in the past. When finalized, it will elevate JSOC from being a highly-valued strike tool used by regional military commands to leading a new multiagency intelligence and action force. Known as the "Counter-External Operations Task Force," the group will be designed to take JSOC’s targeting model -- honed over the last 15 years of conflict -- and export it globally to go after terrorist networks plotting attacks against the West.

The creation of a new JSOC entity this late in the Obama’s tenure is the "codification" of best practices in targeting terrorists outside of conventional conflict zones, according to the officials who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss administration deliberations. It is unclear, however, if the administration of President-elect Donald Trump will keep this and other structures set up by Obama. They include guidelines for counterterrorism operations such as approval by several agencies before a drone strike and "near certainty" that no civilians will be killed. This series of presidential orders is known as the "playbook."

Which, mirrors the standard Klingon 'coordinating process' and places them (the agency) at the final approval level, with everyone else at subordinate, requester levels (without benefit of appeal by the way).

Enjoy the Command & Control whilst you can JSOC. I doubt it will last long.

Trump to Meet with Sheriff David Clarke
[Breitbart] President-elect Donald Trump plans to meet with Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke as he continues to vet possible candidates for his administration.
A modern-day Mat Love. Put him to work quickly.
Trump transition team officials confirmed that the president-elect would meet with Clarke on Monday, after he returns to Trump Tower from his Thanksgiving trip to Mar-a-largo in Florida.

Officials did not say whether Trump is offering Clarke a position with his administration, but signaled interest in his opinions.

"The president elect meets with individuals who he believes he wants to hear their ideas, suggestions and opinions and then sometimes considers them for multiple potential positions," Trump transition team’s Sean Spicer explained.

Clarke, an outspoken champion for Second Amendment gun rights and a registered Democrat, has earned the respect from Trump supporters during the campaign. He also spoke at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland, supporting Trump for president.

Clarke also criticized Black Lives Matter activists, calling them a "a bunch of thugs, a bunch of creeps, criminals, [and] race-hustlers."

"I think very fair in light of the anti-cop rhetoric that is sweeping the United States of America, fueled by this group, some of the vulgar, vile, vicious rhetoric coming out talking about killing cops," Clarke said during an appearance on CNN.

The commander of this Navy warship walked off the job
[Navy Times] The commanding officer of a dock landing ship called it quits Monday.

She walked off her job leading the roughly 420-person crew of the dock landing ship Rushmore, Navy Times has learned, an option that isn't available to most other service members without serious repercussions.

Cmdr. Sarah DeGroot told the head of Amphibious Squadron 3, Capt. Homer Denius, on Monday that she was resigning as the Rushmore's CO. Three sources were unable to immediately specify why she'd taken this highly unusual and likely career-ending move.

While the Navy relieves commanding officers for substandard performance or misconduct several times per year, it is highly unusual for a CO to resign voluntarily. Reached for comment by phone, DeGroot declined to comment.

"I don't think I have anything to say at this time," DeGroot said.

A spokesperson for Naval Surface Force Pacific confirmed that DeGroot was no longer in command of the San Diego-based ship and that Cmdr. DeWayne Sanders has assumed temporary command of the ship. There are no administrative or disciplinary actions against DeGroot pending at the moment, Lt. Cmdr. Rebecca Haggard said.

#2  ...She's not AWOL - she self-selected out of her slot, and that decision was accepted by her superiors. They know where she is, she's either reporting for some sort of duty or is on leave until they figure out what the heck to do with her.

Now the question is, why? Her career is over, and there's got to be a damned good reason for it. My guess is that whatever is about to come down the pike on this would have led to far worse than simple relief for LOC once it gets here. She's already pulled the plug; I suspect the USN will chastise her severely but short of an overtly criminal act she'll be allowed to walk away.

Certainly didn't use to work that way. Unless she's dying of cancer within the next 48 hours, why the rush? What about FITREPS for subordinates (unrated time? Inspections and inventories, and other close-out administrative matters ?

Needs a looking into. TELLS her CO, unreal. If this type of declaration or conduct is permitted, perhaps her CO needs to leave the service as well.

#4  At that rank, she can retire nicely. We are not aware that she did anything illegal or immoral. If she has decided not to carry the responsibilities of the rank, it's her choice.

If you want to speculate, try - the probability of AA promotions just died on election day. She wasn't going to make Rear Admiral. Need to stay around?
Going to stay around? The longer you delay, the longer its going to be to transition to another employment on the outside. Looking at the political spectrum, there are a lot of progressive business out there for the next few months to years looking to signal their virtue by hiring a individual with her resume whether its a good fit or not. I'd say a very lucrative job market at this time.

...Concur. The problem with a 'out-of-her-control' explanation (illness, family/personal problem) is that there wouldn't have even been an official peep about this because it was a personal matter. Professional ability (and/or a lack of faith thereof on CINCPAC's part) is going to be at the heart of this. Book it.

Suicide truck bomb kills about 100 in Iraq, mostly Iranian pilgrims
[Reuters] A suicide truck bomb killed about 100 people, most of them Iranian Shi'ite pilgrims, at a petrol station in the city of Hilla 100 km (62 miles) south of Baghdad on Thursday, police and medical sources said.

Islamic State, the ultra hard-line Sunni militant group that considers all Shi'ites to be apostates, claimed responsibility the attack in an online statement.

The group also is fighting off a U.S.-backed offensive on its stronghold Mosul, in northern Iraq, in which Iranian-trained Shi'ite militias are taking part.

The pilgrims were en route back to Iran from the Iraqi Shi'ite holy city of Kerbala, where they had commemorated Arbaeen, the 40th day of mourning for the killing of Imam Hussein, a grandson of the Prophet Mohammad, in the 7th century AD, the medical sources said.

The gas station has a restaurant on its premises that is popular with travelers. Five pilgrim buses were set afire by the blast from the explosives-laden truck, a police official said.

The Sunni consider all Shea Muslims to be apostates so it is OK to kill them. The Wahabbi believe both the Shea and Sunni are apostates. It would seem to me that our government should consider all Muslims criminally insane and dangerous because of their barbaric customs.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
As Israel burns, are we looking at a new form of eco-terrorism?
With wildfires currently raging across Israel for a third consecutive day, many are concerned that this may be a new form of terrorism.

Fires from an estimated 220 points of origin have broken out throughout central and northern Israel since Wednesday and assessments by police have strengthened suspicions that many were deliberately set and were nationalistically motivated.

Boaz Ganor, founder and executive director of the International Institute for Counter- Terrorism, told The Jerusalem Post that, "even if a portion are intentional, it is not organized.

It’s not that you have a terrorist organization giving orders to their members to carry out fire attacks, though maybe in a few hours you can have groups like Hamas claiming the fires."

But "one thing is clear," Ganor said. "It is not a new form of terrorism. Arson attacks and setting fires in populated areas or forests are a well known modus operandi of terrorist groups, and not only in Israel.

Did the Navy Steal Its Stealth Warship Designs?
It’s the cornerstone of the U.S. Navy’s future fleet. And a legendary ship-designer says the idea was all his.
And if the ultimate reason they spike this pig doesn't make as much sense as it should, maybe we should look here.
It’s been rough sailing for the U.S. Navy’s new Littoral Combat Ship. The speedy, warship has come under fire for being lightly-armed, weakly-built, undermanned, and prone to rusting--and yet, at the same time, way too expensive.

And in recent months, four of the 400-foot-long warships--half of the Littoral Combat Ships currently in commission--have suffered serious engine breakdowns, possible signs of systemic problems with the ship’s design and operating procedures.

As if that weren’t enough for the beleaguered vessel, David Giles, a prominent ship-designer, is accusing the Navy of stealing his concepts for a high-speed cargo ship and illegally applying them to the $500-million-a-copy Littoral Combat Ship.

The Giles isn’t alone. He has some heavyweight back-up in the form of Richard Garwin, one of America’s most eminent scientists.

If judge Charles Lettow from the federal claims court decides in favor of plaintiff David Giles, the U.S. government could have to shell out--well, potentially a lot of money. And it would be yet another black stain on the reputation of a warship that was supposed to transport the Navy confidently into the 21st century, eventually comprising nearly a fifth of the fleet.

Lettow is expected to announce his ruling some time in early 2017.

The 80-year-old, British-born Giles filed suit, via the company he founded, Fastship, in 2012. But the legal challenge has gone largely unnoticed in the mainstream press. He alleged in his complaint that the Navy violated two Fastship patents granted in 1992 and 1993 and which, taken together, describe a novel design for a faster, more efficient ship, one that essentially glides across the water--"semi-planing" is the technical term--rather than plowing through it.

The trick, according to one of Fastship’s patents, is to build a hull with a flattened rear underside and, while the ship is underway, shoot high-pressure water across the flat section. The combination of flat hull and water-jets creates "a dual component of lift," the patent explains. And as the hull partially lifts out of the water, it moves faster than can a ship with a traditional V-shape hull that digs more deeply into the sea.

Most ships with V-style hulls can usually reach a top speed of just over 30 knots--roughly 35 miles per hour. But Giles told The Daily Beast that his company tested its "Prelude" semi-planing ship design at speeds up to 50 knots, way back in 1987.

Giles’s original aim was to build faster, more efficient cargo ships capable of hauling more than a thousand shipping containers apiece at a sustained speed of 38 knots. Normal cargo ships rarely exceed 23 knots, albeit with a larger load of containers.

But Fastship’s cargo concept eventually foundered, dragged down first by its high cost--$2 billion for the first four ships--and, finally, the volatility resulting from the 2008 global economic crisis. A partnership with Lockheed Martin seemed to offer Giles’s company a reprieve. In the early 2000s the Maryland-based defense firm was one of several companies competing to build potentially dozens of Littoral Combat Ships for the Navy.

Lockheed apparently wanted to make use of Fastship’s speedy-vessel concept. In 2002, the two companies formed what Giles described as a "strategic partnership." Fastship handed over its design specs and test data, Giles told The Daily Beast, adding that Fastship had previously supplied the Navy with similar information in confidence between 1998 and 2000.

"Littoral Combat Ship" is actually the Navy’s catch-all term for two related classes of high-speed vessels. Only one of types apparently follows Giles’s design concepts. The other type is not subject to Fastship’s lawsuit.

In terms of size, water-displacement and speed, Fastship’s concept had a sweet spot. The Prelude design was 295 feet long, displaced 2,450 tons of water and--with all of Giles’s hull enhancements--maxed out between 40 and 50 knots of speed. In the early days of the Littoral Combat Ship program, that was too big and too slow. The Navy wanted a ship roughly half the size of Prelude and 10 knots faster.

Then in January 2003, the Navy’s preferences abruptly changed. The sailing branch brass decided it wanted a bigger, more robust ship--and didn’t mind if it was slower. Suddenly the requirement was for a ship roughly the same size, with around the same top speed, as Prelude. "It was like turning a Concorde into a 747," Giles told The Daily Beast.

Actually, in keeping with this metaphor--it was like the Navy turned a Concorde into a 747... and Fastship had patented the 747. "Fastship describes its invention as a combination of a semi-planing mono-hull vessel, longer than 200 feet with a displacement in excess of 2,000 tons, which relies on hull design and water-jet propulsion to create a large ship capable of speeds exceeding 40 knots," Judge Lettow explained in a 2013 court document.

In other words, if the Navy’s new Littoral Combat Ship matched the size and speed of the Prelude and made use of a flattened rear bottom hull and waterjets, it would overlap with Fastship’s patents. That’s the crux of Giles’s suit.

That’s exactly what happened, according to Giles--and yet Fastship never got paid. The U.S. Justice Department, which is defending the Navy, declined to comment for this story. Lockheed is not named in Fastship’s lawsuit, and did not respond to requests for comment, either.

Lockheed dropped Giles’s company from its Littoral Combat Ship design team in 2004, after it had proposed to the Navy--and the Navy had agreed to buy--a vessel design that Giles said matched Prelude’s patented parameters but was too long and skinny for maximum efficiency. Since cutting the first contracts for Littoral Combat Ships in 2004, the Navy has spent billions of dollars on the Lockheed version of the class. USS Detroit, the fourth and latest Lockheed ship, commissioned on Oct. 22.

According to court documents, Fastship wrote to the Navy on April 11, 2008, informing the military sailing branch that the Littoral Combat Ships then under construction violated Fastship’s patents. The Navy wrote back on April 28, rejecting Fastship’s patent claim.

Fastship’s patents expired in May 2010, two years before the company sued. Giles’s firm claimed that the Navy built two LCSs prior to the patents’ expiration, but in June this year Lettow ruled that Lockheed completed just one of the speedy warships--USS Freedom--while the patents were active.

The lawsuit has dragged on for four years and could last months longer. In October, the Justice Department’s lawyer rolled out as an expert witness Donald Blount, an authority on high-speed vessels who claimed that any knowledgeable ship-designer could come up with Giles’s semi-planing system--and therefore Fastship’s patents were invalid.

The government also called Frederick Stern, an expert in fluid dynamics at the University of Iowa. Stern argued that the Littoral Combat Ship, as built, doesn’t plane as much as Fastship’s patented design did, and so never violated any patent.

To counter the government’s experts, Fastship’s lawyer deployed a secret weapon--Garwin, an 88-year-old physicist who, among other historic accomplishments, helped to design nuclear bombs and America’s first spy satellite.

Garwin told The Daily Beast via email that he’s known Giles since 1981 has found him "totally honest, perceptive and very intelligent." Garwin argued that Giles’s innovations were not obvious to any reasonably-qualified ship-designer, as Blunt claimed--and that Stern’s computations were rife with errors. (Stern did not immediately reply to requests for comment.)

"Of course, the implications go beyond the details of the trial," Garwin stated in a separate email, adding a quotation from Abraham Lincoln. "It is as much the duty of government to render prompt justice against itself in favor of citizens as it is to administer the same between private individuals."

In this case, justice could mean yet another blemish on the fast-sinking reputation of one of the Navy’s newest warships. For his part, Giles told The Daily Beast he wants "at worst, fair and reasonable compensation."

At best, he said, the lawsuit should "provide a better interpretation of our patents for U.S. and other navies’ ships." So that maybe, in the future, someone can build a fast ship... that actually works.

#6  If the Navy wanted vessels in this size range maybe they just should of built copies of other classes all ready in service. As to being adaptable IMO the LCS's should of been designed to accept modules based on standard 40 foot cargo containers. Have modules configured for gunfire support, air defense, ASW or berthing for Special Ops. But I don't know what's the bigger screw up. The LCS or the Zumwalt Class. They should stuck with Arliegh Burke's and Perry's. Hell, maybe they can pawn them off on the Coasties

ISIS teenage 'Cub of the Caliphate' kills his entire family after his suicide belt accidentally goes off at home in Mosul
A teenager who had been recruited by the Islamic State in Mosul killed the whole of his six-member family when his explosive belt went off inside their home east of the city.
Once again indicating that the jihadi's family knows what's going on, even if they don't admit it.
Three children were reportedly among those killed by the unnamed boy's explosive device.
And the three kids apparently aren't admitting anything, either.
The boy, who belonged to the so-called 'Cubs of the Caliphate' squad, had been given the suicide belt by other members of the terror group, Alsumaria News reports.

He put the device on and went back to his home in the al-Wehda district of Mosul, where it later exploded, a source told the news channel.

'The teenager's belt exploded inside his home. It appeared later that all of his family, including three children, were killed,' said the source, on condition of anonymity.
Apparently they need to put the warning not to head home before heading out to their target closer to the beginning of the Kiddie Jihadi Manual.
The man said Islamic State regularly recruits teenagers to wear explosive devices, especially in eastern Mosul.
Does that still come with a plastic key that will open the gates of Heaven when they get there?
'It comes as part of ISIS strategy to strengthen its grip on the ground and intimidate the people,' he added.
These kids need to start pushing the button two seconds after their handlers finish strapping the thing on them.

Mexican cement maker Grupo Cementos de Chihuahua wants to help with Trump wall
[GP] A Mexican cement maker is ready to lend its services to U.S. President-elect Donald Trump to build the wall he wants to erect on the southern border of the United States to curb immigration.

"We can’t be choosy," Enrique Escalante, Chief Executive Officer of Grupo Cementos de Chihuahua (GCC) said in an interview. "We’re an important producer in that area and we have to respect our clients on both sides of the border."

Republican Trump campaigned vowing to build a "big, beautiful, powerful" wall across the 2,000 mile (3,200 km) frontier in order to stop illegal immigrants from Mexico, which he accused of sending rapists and drug traffickers north.

The campaign of the New York businessman who has never previously held public office was widely reviled in Mexico.

Parts of the border are already divided by high fences, and a huge part of the boundary runs along the Rio Grande river.

Based in Chihuahua, a large northern state bordering Texas and New Mexico, GCC is one of the biggest construction materials companies in Mexico. It generates around 70 percent of its sales in the United States, where it also has three plants.

Kaepernick Now Wearing Pro-Castro T-Shirts
[GP] San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick says the United States could learn a thing or two about education from former Cuban President Fidel Castro.

Mr. Kaepernick, who has sought to draw attention to a litany of causes célèbres this football season by kneeling during the pre-game National Anthem, was grilled by Miami media ahead of Sunday’s game against the Dolphins for his perceived support of the Communist dictator.

The embattled quarterback, who was spotted in a T-shirt depicting Mr. Castro earlier this year, initially demurred when asked about the shirt by a reporter from the Miami Herald who comes from a family of Cuban exiles. He pointed out that the shirt also pictured Malcolm X.

"I’m not talking about Fidel Castro and his oppression," Mr. Kaepernick said on Wednesday’s press call, the Palm Beach Post reported. "I’m talking about Malcolm X and what he’s done for people."

But when pressed on the point, he praised the Cuban autocrat’s comparative commitment to education and criminal justice reform.

"One thing that Fidel Castro did do is they have the highest literacy rate because they invest more in their education

More young people contracting 'old-age' conditions including varicose veins due to sedentary lifestyles
[Independent] People in their 20s and 30s are being treated for varicose veins, knee joint problems and other conditions usually associated with old age.

Bad postures and sedentary lifestyles have led to a rise in the number of younger people experiencing complaints such as back pain and haemorrhoids, according to analysis by Bupa.

Data from more than 60,000 medical procedures in 2015 was compiled by the private healthcare group.

It found treatment traditionally offered to older generations was increasingly being sought by younger people, aged mainly between 25 and 45 ‐ a shift it attributed to time spent sitting at desks, watching box sets and using smartphones and tablets.

Removal of haemorrhoids and varicose veins were two of the most common procedures in the heart and circulatory diseases category for both 26 to 35-year-olds and 36 to 45-year-olds.

"Haemorrhoid removal and treatment for varicose veins are procedures that people in this age group should not be encountering," said Dr Steve Iley, Bupa's medical director in a statement.

"However, when you consider the amount of time young people now spend sat using their mobiles and tablets, streaming box sets or playing with the latest games console, you can see why these conditions are rising in this age group."

-Short Attention Span Theater-
The Amazon reviews of Donald Trump's tree ornament are the best thing you'll read today
Donald Trump is the President-elect of the United States, but he's still a crafty businessman, so it should come as no surprise that the billionaire has a plan to capitalize on your holiday cheer in the form of licensed ornaments.

One ornament in particular -- modeled after the now iconic, ill-fitting red cap that became a symbol of the Trump movement -- has accumulated over 1,200 reviews on Amazon, and they're some of the best pieces of writing you're going to find anywhere online.

The reviews, which range in length from a sentence or two to full-fledged stories, are almost entirely tongue-in-cheek, but rather scathing nonetheless. There's many references to Trump's alleged mistreatment of women, views on immigrants, and overall abrasive personality:
(Images of some clever comments here are available at link.)
Many of the reviews also make reference to the fact that Hillary Clinton won the popular vote in the 2016 Presidential race, but Trump was elected due to his majority of electoral college votes:
(And here.)
Some reviewers clearly put some additional thought into their writing, even going so far as to bring President Obama into the mix:
(And here.)
And, of course, you don't have to look far to find a reference to Trump's freakishly small hands:
(And here.)
It's Amazon's shockingly lax review policy that makes this kind of mass-reviewing possible.
Obviously, Amazon hasn't gotten into censoring the fake news thing yet, or they'd be gone, of course.
The site doesn't require verification of a product purchase before allowing users to write reviews of virtually anything they want. Verified purchases show up with their own special tag, but hundreds of fake reviews flood a product, you'd be hard pressed to find a confirmed buyer anywhere in the crowd.
(And here.)
The company has, in the past, culled obviously fake reviews under similar circumstances, so it's likely that Trump's little red hat will see a similar ratings purge at some point in the near future.
They're all just jealous, obviously.

ISIS’s Baghdadi has possibly executed a close confidant

Nineveh ‐ (IraqiNews.com) Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
’s supreme leader His Supreme Immensity, Caliph of the Faithful and Galactic Overlord, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi
...formerly merely the head of ISIL and a veteran of the Bagram jailhouse. Looks like a new messiah to bajillions of Moslems, like just another dead-eyed mass murder to the rest of us...
has possibly executed one of his closest confidants along with his own family, source has told Alsumaria News on Thursday.

Baghdadi gave the green light for the execution of the victim, nicknamed "Abu Abdullah", at a house west of djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
, along with his five-member family which included three kids.

The house was stormed on the dawn of Thursday by ÷ISIS gunnies, according to the source.

"Abu Abdullah was Baghdadi’s box of secrets and a close confidant who organized his personal mails and arranged his meetings with field commanders," he added, revealing that Abu Abdullah had disappeared with his family two weeks earlier and sought hiding inside a dilapidated house.

Reports have highlighted disarray within ISIS ranks as Iraqi government forces and paramilitary groups continue successful advances towards the liberation of Mosul as part of a major campaign that launched mid October. Many ISIS big shotships have either been reported escaped or killed during that period.

18 Yazidis freed from ISIS captivity: official
Possibly rescued by quiet heroes rather than ransomed, according to this article from a few days ago.
Duhok – (IraqiNews.com) Nineteen people from the ethno-religious Yazidi minority have been set free from Islamic State captivity, an official responsible for the file said Thursday.

Hussein Qaedi, an official at the office on kidnapped Yazidis in Duhok said those released were mostly women and children, adding that they will be sheltered at refugee camps in the province.

“The liberation was carried out in coordination with security authorities,” Qaedi said. “The group consisted of two men, seven women and nine children.”

Data from the office on Yazidi kidnapping victims show that 2640 Yazidis were released from captivity by Islamic State militants over the past two years, but there are 3770 others still in the extremist group’s hold.

The Kurdish-speaking minority came to the spotlight when Islamic State militants, taking over large parts of Iraq, victimized its members, committing massacres and subjecting them to forced conversions, sexual slavery and other reported atrocities. At least 5,000 Yazidis, mostly men and boys, were killed during ISIS attacks since 2014 on the Kurdish Iraqi city of Sanjar.

The United Nations said in June that ISIS carried out a genocide against the Yazidi minority.

ISIS fighters killed in coalition airstrikes in Anbar: army

Anbar – (IraqiNews.com) Five Islamic State militants were killed and three others were wounded when US-led coalition fighter jets and Iraqi artillery bombarded a booby-trap workshop and another hideout in Anbar, an Iraqi army commander said Thursday.

“Our cameras detected the death of five militants, while three others were seriously wounded,” said, Mohammadi , adding that a stack of missiles and other weaponry were destroyed in the strike.
In Rawa, the strikes destroyed a booby-trap workshop, which included two boob-trapped vehicles ready for detonation, according to the military official.

Bomb expert killed while defusing IED in Anbar

Anbar – (IraqiNews.com) A bomb expert was killed on Thursday when an IED went off while he was defusing it in Anbar.

“The deceased was among officers who had fought the Islamic State over the past three years, and over that period, he had managed to defuse more than 1000 IEDs across the precinct,” said Khamis al-Essawy, commander of the al-Hashd al-Sha’bi’s brigade in Ameriyat al-Somoud, 23 kilometers south of Fallujah.

Britain
Briton Admits Giving Money to Brussels, Paris Attacks Suspect
[AnNahar] A British man has pleaded guilty to supplying money to Mohammed Abrini, a key suspect in the Brussels and Gay Paree attacks, a court heard Thursday as the trial opened of his alleged accomplice. Mohammed Ali Ahmed, from Birmingham, has admitted handing over £3,000 (3,537 euros, $3,732) in cash to the so-called "man in the hat" in the central English city in July 11, 2015, the court heard.

The news came as the trial opened in London of another Birmingham man, Belgian citizen Zakaria Boufassil, who is accused of the same charge as Ahmed but has pleaded not guilty
"Wudn't me."
Prosecutor Max Hill told jurors: "There is no doubt that the money was handed over with the intention of assisting acts of terrorism."

He added: "We suggest that Mr Boufassil committed this offense together with Ahmed, and he is as guilty as his co-defendant Ahmed."

Hill said that Abrini was interviewed by Belgian Sherlocks in April over his suspected involvement in the Brussels attacks in March and the Gay Paree attacks last November.

He told the Sherlocks that, during a visit to Syria, a man called "Abaaoud" had asked him to collect some money in Britannia and given him some phone numbers as contacts.

Abrini was instructed to go to Small Heath Park in Birmingham and described being taken by Ahmed to the location where he was handed the money in a bag by Boufassil, the court heard.

The tracked locations of the phones being used by the men converged at around 3.30pm in the park, Hill said, adding: "That was the handover of the money by Ahmed and Mr Boufassil to Abrini."

The money was withdrawn from the bank account of an associate of Ahmed, Anwar Haddouchi, who had by that time left Britannia to travel to Syria to fight for the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. group, the court heard.

"The intention could not be more clear. Haddouchi had left the UK to fight for ISIS in Syria," Hill told Kingston Crown Court. "Abrini had come to collect the money in the UK.

"The destination of the money would certainly include Syria -- it would appear ISIS, also known as Islamic State -- either to Haddouchi himself or to other fighters."

The trial is subject to strict reporting restrictions.

[Ynet] Russia's counterterrorism agency says two suspected holy warriors and two special forces officers have been killed in a gunbattle in the nation's volatile North Caucasus.

8 arrested for arsons in northern Israel
[ISRAELNATIONALNEWS] Police tossed in the calaboose
Please don't kill me!
eight individuals believed to be responsible for some of the hundreds of fires sparked across the country over the past three days.

The eight are suspected of operating across northern Israel, setting multiple fires in the midst of a long dry spell, that, along with strong winds, has made for rapid spreading of blazes around the country.

Prior to the series of fires which broke out in Haifa on Thursday ‐ and are also believed to be the result of Arab arson ‐ buildings across the Galilee and in Atlit and Zichron Yaakov were damaged.

In Haifa, more than 85,000 residents have fled their homes, with eight neighborhoods fully evacuated.

Of some 200 fires recorded over the past three days, Internal Security Minister Gilad Erdan said it was estimated that roughly one half were deliberately set by Arab arsonists.

Police Chief Roni Alsheich announced during a press briefing Thursday afternoon that a number of arrests had already been made in connection with the wave of arsons across the country.

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu declared the arsons acts of terrorism, and vowed to bring the perpetrators to justice.

"Every fire caused by arson, or incitement to commit arson, is terrorism for all intents and purposes, and we will bring them to justice."

Man admits stealing wallet of company president during job interview
[JAPANTIMES.CO.JP] A Yokohama man was incarcerated
You have the right to remain silent...
Monday after admitting he stole a company president’s wallet during a job interview earlier this month.

"I wanted to work for that company, but since I haven’t got a job I needed money," Shogo Takeda, 24, said in owning up to the charges, according to the police.

Takeda is suspected of stealing the wallet containing ¥50,000 in cash from the president’s bag during the interview at an elevator maintenance company in Seya Ward, Yokohama, on the evening of Nov. 10.

Police believe Takeda took advantage of easy access to the bag when the president briefly left the room.

After the interview, the president noticed that the wallet had disappeared and reported the incident to the police, speculating that Takeda could have taken it. The president said only he and Takeda were in the office during the interview.

Takeda had included his contact details, including his address and phone number, when he submitted his resume. He did not contact the company to learn about the results of the interview.

"The Fraternal Order of Police, the largest police union in the United States, has formally endorsed President-Elect Donald Trump," the list says. "The FOP includes over 10,000 members in Washington D.C., many of which have jurisdiction over GW’s campus. Placing us in these officers’ care is an act of violence, especially for Black students."

Elsewhere, the students call for GWU administrators to declare the school a "sanctuary campus" that will protect illegal immigrants colonists from deportation.

Pair charged in explosive device at elementary school; planned to shoot cops, start race war
[AL] A convicted felon who claims he wanted to shoot cops is behind bars in connection with the explosives device planted outside of a Trussville elementary school.

Authorities today announced state charges against 35-year-old Zachary Edwards and 34-year-old Raphel Dilligard, both of eastern Birmingham. They are charged with possession of a hoax destructive device, rendering false alarm and making terrorist threats, said Trussville police Capt. Jeff Bridges.

The warrants were issued this morning after the week-long probe by the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Trussville police, the Alabama State Fire Marshal's Office, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency and the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office.

Edwards claimed to be a member of the Black Panthers and the Black Mafia, but authorities have not yet confirmed his reported associations with any organized group. "My guys believe this individual to be a very dangerous person,'' said Dave Hyche, ATF's assistant special agent in charge in Alabama.

Lawmen responded en masse to Magnolia Elementary School on Wednesday, Nov. 16, after they received a 911 from a woman who reported seeing a Hispanic male place the package on a pickup truck that belonged to a school cafeteria worker. The package was a box with wires and timer attached.

Iraq bomb kills at least 80, mostly Iranian Shi'ite pilgrims
Per Trend Azerbaijan, body count is now 100+
[CNN] At least 80 people were killed Thursday when a truck bomb went kaboom! at a gas station in Iraq, the U.S. State Department said.

Most of the victims were Iranian Shi'ite pilgrims, according to authorities in Iraq.

ISIS, a Sunni terror group, grabbed credit for the attack in a statement posted online.

"The flames of battles in djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
will reach them in Baghdad, Karbala and Najaf," the ISIS statement reads. It also said Iranians were among those killed.

The blast happened on a highway southeast of Baghdad between Babel and al-Qadisiyyah, said Falah al Radhi, the head of the Babel security council.

In additions to those killed, Radhi said at least 50 people were maimed.

The parked truck went kaboom! near several buses carrying Shi'ite pilgrims -- mostly Iranians -- Radhi said. The Iranian pilgrims were in Iraq to commemorate Imam Hussein's death.

If US Can’t or Won’t Fight Terrorists, They Should ‘Stop Getting in the Way’: Russian MoD
[ENGLISH.ALMANAR.LB] The Russian Defense Ministry commented on the US State Department’s calls not to help tankers shipping fuel to the Russian Aerospace Forces in Syria. If Washington cannot or does not want to fight terrorists, it should not get in the way, the ministry’s front man Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov said Thursday.

US State Department front man Mark Toner urged other countries not to provide support for Russian tankers shipping fuel to the Russian aviation group in Syria. "Such statements, unfortunately, only confirm our earlier estimates that fighting terrorism in Syria has never been on the outgoing administration’s agenda," Konashenkov said.

Washington had impeded negotiations, did not separate gunnies and opposition and now openly called on other countries to hamper Moscow’s anti-terrorism fight in Syria "to somehow downplay the failures of US policies in the country since 2014", the front man said.

Libyan forces edge forward against Islamic State holdouts in Sirte
[REUTERS] Libyan forces resumed their advance on Thursday against Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
bandidos Lions of Islam holding out in a few streets in their former stronghold of Sirte, saying they had captured 25 houses and a stash of arms.

Backed by U.S. air strikes, the Libyan brigades have reduced the area held by the jihadists to a small patch of land near Sirte's Mediterranean seafront after a campaign of more than six months.

Lately, they say, they have been advancing with more caution in the Ghiza Bahriya district to limit casualties among their own fighters and among any hostages and families still held there.

"According to our information there are still civilians including women and kiddies inside," Mohammed al-Gasri, a front man for the brigades, told private TV station Libya's Channel. "The instructions are not to rush in, in order to limit the damage."

Several groups of civilians have either escaped or been released in Sirte in recent weeks, including migrants colonists from sub-Saharan Africa who were captured by Islamic State as they tried to make their way toward Europe.

Bangladesh
Attacks on Hindus in Narail leave community in terror
[Dhaka Tribune] In a spree of countrywide communal violence, the Hindus of Narail, the district famous for one of the greatest painters in the sub-continent SM Sultan, have faced such attacks three times since May.

Around 200 Hindu families of Palpara at Kundashi village in Lohagora upazila of the district had already been passing their days with fear and anxiety, as miscreants set fire to some of their houses on May 23 and then on November 3.

After the latest attack on early Wednesday, while miscreants torched the cattle shed, haystack and a warehouse of Nirod Paul and the haystacks of Paritosh Pal and Profullah Pal, burning two cows of Nirod alive, around 800 Hindu people of the village have become panic-striken.

Dipak Kumar Das, 54, teacher at Lohagora Pilot School and president of Dakshin Palpara Brahmman Kundashi Durga Puja Committee, said: "After the latest attack, we dare not go outside of our homes when the evening approaches. We cannot sleep at night fearing more attacks."

Eighty-five years old Asha Rani Pal of the village said she could not sleep at night in fear of more attacks.

Another resident of Palpara Shibu Kumar Pal, 45, accountant of Kashinani College at Kashinani upazila of Gopalganj district, said his house came under attack on May 23 and since then they had been living with fear.

"If the law enforcers took proper steps after the first attack on May, we would not face the attacks two times this month," said Shibu.

Tapan Pal and Mahananda Pal of the village said they required a regular police patrol in the village.

Horidash Banerjee, 80, former headmaster of Itna High School at Itna village, eight kilometer away from Kundashi, said due to the fear of more attacks regular activities of their lives were being hampered.

"Police can provide us with security for the time being; but how long we can live safely is a matter of concern," said Horidash.

Md Jahangir Alam, officer-in-charge of Lohagara cop shoppe, said: "A case was filed with the cop shoppe in connection with Wednesday’s attack and we are trying hard to arrest the miscreants."

Shahadat Hossain Shikder, local ward councillor, said a village defence party would be formed by the villagers to protect the village from such attacks.

Afghanistan
Clash among police forces leaves at least 4 dead in Kandahar city
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] At least four coppers bit the dust during infighting in the southern Kandahar city of Afghanistan, local officials said.

The incident took place this afternoon in the 4th police district of Kandahar city, apparently due to a brawl among the coppers.

Provincial governor’s front man Samim Khpolwak confirmed the incident but did not comment regarding the main motive that led to the infighting.

He also did not comment regarding the number of the coppers killed or maimed during the clash.

However,
it was a brave man who first ate an oyster...
another security official confirmed that four coppers bit the dust and at least four others sustained injuries.

The official said an investigation is underway regarding the reason behind the clash.

Kandahar is among the relatively peaceful provinces in southern Afghanistan despite the province is the birth place of the Taliban group.

The security situation has dramatically improved during the recent months in this province amid rampant Taliban-led insurgency in the neighboring provinces, specifically the southern Helmand
...an Afghan province populated mostly by Pashtuns, adjacent to Injun country in Pak Balochistan...
province.

In the meantime, the infighting among the security forces is not rare as numerous incidents have been reported in the past as well besides insider attacks are on the rise in some restive provinces.

Airstrikes reported as northern Myanmar conflict spreads
[Dhaka Tribune] Over the past four days, 2,600 people have been displaced and are sheltering at monasteries in the town of Muse, while over 3,000 people have fled across the border into China.

Myanmar Armed Forces called in air strikes on Wednesday as fighting between government troops and four ethnic gangs continued at several locations across four townships in northern Shan and Kachin states, according to a spokesperson for the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA), a member of the ethnic alliance, reports Myanmar Times.

Colonel Mong Aik Kyaw of the TNLA said festivities were reported in Namkham, Muse and Kutkai townships in northern Shan State, as well as Bhamaw township in Kachin State. He said air strikes were launched in at least two locations, though he did not know specifically where.

"The fighting will not stop," said Col Mong Aik Kyaw. "The Tatmadaw (Myanmar Armed Forces, officially known as the Tatmadaw) is full of strength. There is always fighting in remote areas of the Ta’ang, Kachin and Shan peoples. Now we have taken the fight to the towns. The long-running war has made our people’s education and economic situations worse, so we decided to change the front."

A response to the November 20 offensive by the four groups and its aftermath from the Union-level government came yesterday in the form of a statement from Aung San Suu Kyi in her capacity as chair of the National Reconciliation and Peace Centre.

"At a time when people of Myanmar are in process of striving for national reconciliation and peace that had remained elusive to them, it is extremely disappointing and saddening that these incidents are instigated," read her statement.

Bus driver allegedly does nothing while black teens attack white schoolgirls
[NYPOST] Four white 15-year-old Catholic schoolgirl friends laughing and chatting on their usual bus ride home were targeted in an unprovoked, racial attack that left them bloody and bruised, the teens told The Post Wednesday.

"Oh, white girl got money!" a young black man sitting with a friend commented as the girls travelled on the BX8 bus around 3 p.m. Tuesday after dismissal from St. Catharine’s Academy in the Pelham Gardens section of The Bronx.

Before they knew it, the boys called up some female friends, who boarded a few stops away -- and the girls said the group punched and kicked them while grabbing clumps of their hair.

In an exclusive interview with The Post, two of the girls said the trouble began as soon as they boarded the bus to Throggs Neck -- with the male riders leering at the 10th-graders and snapping their pictures.

One of the victims, who only wants to be identified by the initials LT because the attackers are still on the lam, said they were in their school uniforms when the young men tried chatting with them and then threatened to "piss on them."

"Oh, you go to St. Catharine’s? What, do you have money? Go drink your coffee, white girl, and go shopping," one of them said.

The girls nervously tried to laugh it off, and the thugs said they were calling friends at the upcoming Westchester Square stop for re-enforcements. Before they knew it, six to eight young black girls got on the bus and all hell broke loose.

"All I remember is seeing the bus doors open and these girls have me by the ankles," LT said. "One of the guys had me by my hair and punched me in the jaw."

The driver stopped the bus in the middle of the block and when she opened the door, the gang escaped with a backpack, which contained an iPad and some cash, LT said.

The girls called police and were taken to Jacobi Medical Center for minor cuts and bruises.

Scott Seskin, a lawyer representing the girls, said the bus driver did nothing to help them.

The NYPD is investigating the incident, and a source said it appears to be a case of racial bias.

"I’m going to use whatever contacts I have to have this investigated as a hate crime because of the language that was used that started the whole thing off," said Seskin.

Tucker Carlson Confronts Business Owner Who Won’t Do Business with Trump Supporters
[MEDIAITE] Tucker Carlson tonight faced off with a business owner who publicly declared that he won’t do business with Donald Trump

supporters.

Mathew Blanchfield, the CEO of 1st in SEO,
Albuquerque Internet Marketing, Web Design & SEO Company
wrote online, "If you are a Republican, voted for Donald Trump or support Donald Trump, in any manner, you are not welcome at 1st in SEO and we ask you to leave our firm."

Carlson pressed him tonight on why he would say something like that. Blanchfield argued this is about the "moral principle" at hand and said he is not tolerant of bigotry or fascism
...a political system developed in Italy symbolized by the Roman fasces -- thin reeds, each flimsy in itself but unbreakable when bound into a bundle. The word is nowadays thrown around by all sorts of people who have no idea what they're talking about...
He went on to say he strongly believes Trump is a fascist
Tucker Carlson should have stopped him right then and there and asked this question: "Why do you believe Mr. Trump is a fascist?"
and while he would allow a Trump supporter into his home, a lot of what Trump does alarms him.

Carlson told him that comments like these diminish "actual historical crimes," but Blanchfield told Carlson that he should read up on how Hitler and Putin rose to power.

From the founder of fascism, Benito Mussolini,....

Anti-individualistic, the Fascist conception of life stresses the importance of the State and accepts the individual only in so far as his interests coincide with those of the State, which stands for the conscience and the universal, will of man as a historic entity (11).

There really is only one significant split. Individualism against Statism. Regardless of the details of the States organization if it is not based on individualism it is tyrannical.

Patrol force men taking bribe caught on camera
[DAWN] PESHAWAR: In an embarrassing event, officials of the newly-launched City Patrol Force were caught on camera while taking bribe from citizens here.

The force with a motto of "safety, security and service" was launched about two weeks ago to act as first responders in case of any crime and emergency situation.

However,
if you can't say something nice about a person some juicy gossip will go well...
a video which went viral on social media showed a patrol car parked near a busy thoroughfare somewhere in the limits of cantonment and a man in white dress is talking to cops sitting inside the car.

Later, another man in black dress walks up to the vehicle and takes something out of his pocket and hands it over to the man in white, who in turn hands it over to the cops.

The cops speed away after collecting the amount.

Taking action, KP police chief Nasir Khan Durrani later ordered arrest of two officials on the charges of corruption and harassing people.

A statement issued here said that Mr Durrani had ordered for registration of an FIR and immediate arrest of the two officials.

A police official said that an FIR against the officials had been registered at the Gulbahar cop shoppe and both were put in the police lines quarter guards.

However,

when approached, Gulbahar police denied registering an FIR against the cops.

Europe
Germany nabs Somali man for smuggling of migrants
A Somali-born German
...who was more Somali than German...
was arrested Wednesday in Germany for allegedly heading a 13-man smuggling ring that helped migrants travel from Italy to northern Europe, Italian police said.

With the help of two aides based in Milan, and a network throughout Italy, Maodi Abdisalan Kalif would provide Somali migrants with fake documents and train tickets to Germany, France or Scandinavian countries, police said.

“Kalif was the head of this criminal group,” Tommaso Niglio, a police officer from the southern Italian city of Salerno who led the investigations, told dpa.

The suspect lived in Karlsruhe, the south-western German city where he was nabbed on the basis of a European arrest warrant, Niglio added.

Police first got wind of the ring in April 2015 after interviewing a group of Somalis who were taken to Salerno by the Italian Navy after a Mediterranean Sea rescue.

Ten suspects, including Kalif and his Milan-based accomplices, were remanded in custody, while three were to be placed under house arrest, Niglio said. Police had not yet completed arrest operations in Florence, Brescia, Bergamo, Catania and Bari, he added.

Members of the smuggling ring were charged with participation in a criminal association aimed at abetting illegal migration, and face up to 10 years’ imprisonment if convicted, the police officer said.

Turkey has sacked or suspended more than 125,000 state officials since a failed coup attempt in July. It was not immediately clear whether the 10,500 Muezzinoglu was referring to were part of that number or an additional purge.

Court hands Islamabad police official life sentence for raping daughter
[DAWN] A sessions court in Islamabad charged a police official with raping his daughter, handing him a life sentence and fining him Rs100,000 for the offence on Thursday.

Dilpazeer, a driver with the Islamabad police, is a resident of Khanna Dak, an area on the outskirts of Islamabad. He first raped his daughter in 2011 when she was a minor.

Now 19-years-old, the daughter said Dilpazeer continued to rape her for the next four years. She said she had confided in her mother when the abuse first occurred, but to no avail.

She then turned to her uncle, Dilpazeer’s younger brother, "but nobody listened to me," she said.

The girl then approached the court and filed a case against her parent.

Amir Nadeem Tabish, the plaintiff's lawyer, submitted video evidence against the police officer in light of which the court sentenced Dilpazeer to life in prison.

If Dilpazeer fails to pay the fine, he will spend an additional six months in jail.

Militant attack in Egypt's northern Sinai kills 8 11 army personnel
[AlAhram] A group of gunnies killed eight army personnel in an attack on a military checkpoint in the restive northern Sinai region, where forces are battling a Death Eater insurgency, a military front man has said.

Assailants in 4x4 vehicles "laden with large amounts of explosives" attacked the checkpoint in the border region late on Thursday, front man Mohammed Samir said in a statement.

A subsequent exchange of fire with forces and the kaboom of the car and a separate bomb led to the death of eight members of army forces and three Death Eaters.

A number of Death Eaters were also maimed in the firefight. "The armed forces asserts that such villainous acts will not discourage it from performing its duty of eliminating terrorism and continuing to safeguard the homeland," the statement read.

Forces were combing the area in search for suspects.
Update from Ynet at 9:15 a.m. ET:
An Egyptian security official says the corpse count from the previous night's bully boy attack in Sinai, which included a suicide boom-mobileing, has reached 11.

No one has grabbed credit for the assault, in which eight troops were initially reported killed.

The official says three more slain soldiers were found on Friday morning outside the restive city of el-Arish. In Thursday night's attack, a suicide boom-mobileer and dozens of heavily armed faceless myrmidons stormed a checkpoint manned by some 30 troops. At least 12 troops were reported maimed.

The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he wasn't authorized to speak to the media.

Sindh criminalises ‘forced conversions’
[DAWN] KARACHI: Becoming the first provincial assembly in the country’s history to do legislation for the protection of minority communities against forced conversion, the Sindh Assembly on Thursday unanimously passed into law a private bill -- The Criminal Law (Protection of Minorities) Bill, 2015, -- making forced religious conversion a punishable criminal act.

The bill prescribes a sentence from five years to life imprisonment for the person who forcibly converts another person, with a fine to be paid to the victim. Also, anyone who performs or facilitates in any manner a marriage of the victims of forced conversion will be liable to imprisonment of three years, with a fine to be paid to the victim. The bill forbids minors from changing their religion. The bill, which was moved by Pakistain Moslem League-Functional politician Nand Kumar Goklani in 2015, expressed his gratitude to the house, particularly the ruling Pakistain Peoples Party, which he said wrote history by adopting the opposition party’s bill as without the support of the treasury benches the bill could not have been passed into a law.
Another good law, born to be ignored.

Civilians flee as Shia groups close in on flashpoint town west of Mosul
[Al Ahram] Tens of thousands of Iraqi civilians have fled Tal Afar as Shia paramilitary groups close in the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. ... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
and Raqqa, the main cities of the myrmidon group's self-styled caliphate in Iraq and Syria.

The exodus from Tal Afar, 60 km (40 miles) west of Mosul, is causing concern among humanitarian organizations as some of the fleeing civilians are heading deeper into holy warriors' territory, where aid cannot be sent to them, provincial officials said.

Popular Mobilisation units, a coalition of mostly Iranian-trained and backed militias, are trying to encircle Tal Afar, a mostly ethnic Turkmen town, as part of the offensive to capture Mosul, the last major city stronghold of IS group in Iraq.

About 3,000 families have left the town, with about half heading southwest, toward Syria, and half northward, into Kurdish-held territory, said Nuraldin Qablan, a Tal Afar representative in the Nineveh provincial council, now based in the Kurdish capital Erbil.

"We ask Kurdish authorities to open a safe passage for them," he told Rooters.

He said IS bully boyz started on Sunday night to allow people to leave after it fired mortars at Popular Mobilisation positions at the airport, south of the city, and Popular Mobilisation forces responded.

The offensive started on Oct. 17 with air and ground support from a U.S.-led coalition. It is turning into the most complex campaign in Iraq since the 2003 invasion that toppled Saddam Hussein and empowered the nation's Shia majority.

The people fleeing Tal Afar are from the Sunni community, which makes up a majority in the Nineveh province in and around Mosul. The town also had a Shia community, which fled in 2014 when the hardline Sunni group swept through the region.

The Sick Man of Europe Turkey

Light of the Alawites...
Citing its close ties to Tal Afar's Turkmen's population, Turkey has threatened to intervene to prevent Dire Revenge killings should Popular Mobilisation forces, known in Arabic as Hashid Shaabi, storm the town.

"People are fleeing due to the Hashid's advance, there are great fears among the civilians," said Qablan, who is also the deputy head of Nineveh's provincial council.

Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi tried to allay fears of ethnic and sectarian killings in Tal Afar, saying any force sent to recapture it would reflect the city's diversity.

Cutting the road to Tal Afar would seal off Mosul as the city is already surrounded to the north, south and east by Iraqi government and Kurdish peshmerga forces.

Army foils 2 infiltration bids in Gulmarg, Nowgam
[Daily Excelsior] Army today said that it foiled two major infiltration bids by bandidos holy warriors since last night along the Line of Control (LoC) in North Kashmire.

An Army officer said that troops deployed along the LoC in Gulmarg and Nowgam sectors in North Kashmire foiled two infiltration bids since last night. "Two infiltration attempts by snuffies were foiled during the last 18 hours in Gulmarg and Nowgam sectors in the Kashmire Valley," he added.

Sources said that alert troops along the LoC pushed back the intruders after heavy exchange of fire. They said that the Army deployed at the forward posts in Nowgam sector noticed the movement of a group of 5-6 heavily armed bandidos holy warriors infiltrating into Indian territory in the area.

"The troops challenged the intruders and fired at them leading to a fierce shootout. But they fled back towards the Pakistain Indian Kashmiree (PoK) under the cover of darkness", they said.

The Army has rushed more troops to the area and they are conducting searches to ensure that no turban has managed to sneak in from the group of infiltrators. The search parties have also laid ambushes in the area to tackle members of turban group if anyone is still in the area.

Sources said that troops also noticed movement of a heavily gang of bandidos holy warriors who were accompanied by some guides as well in Gulmarg sector. They said that the infiltrators were challenged by the alert troops leading to a shootout. They said that the intruders took cover of darkness and boulders to flee back.

Army has launched massive searches in the area against the group to ensure no member has sneaked in. Troops have also intensified patrolling in the area to take on any infiltrated members of the turban group.

Army said that bandidos holy warriors are desperate to infiltrate ahead of snowfall along the LoC that will close the mountain passes for the winter making infiltration difficult. They said that over 250 bandidos holy warriors are waiting on launch pads along the LoC to infiltrate into Kashmire.

Sources said that Army is alert and has intensified vigil and patrolling along the LoC to foil turban designs. They said that the Pak troops are providing cover fire to the bandidos holy warriors for infiltration.

Army said that bandidos holy warriors are desperate to infiltrate as they have suffered heavy losses this year at the hands of security forces by killing around 130 of them this year which is a record in recent years. Last year, 97 bandidos holy warriors were killed.

However,
a hangover is the wrath of grapes...
this year has also shown increased infiltration and, as per the official figures, 83 bandidos holy warriors have infiltrated so far when the figure for whole of last year was 35.

In the meantime, bandidos holy warriors tonight fired two grenades at a police mobile bunker outside Police Station Kral Gund in Handwara area of Kupwara district. They also fired several AK-47 rounds at the police bunker without causing any damage.

Handwara Police and 32 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) of Army have launched searches in the area but bandidos holy warriors managed to escape under the cover of darkness.

Trump’s National Security Adviser on Radical Islam: ‘This Is a World War ... They Are On The March'
[CNSNEWS] After the radical Islamic terrorist attack in Nice, La Belle France, which killed 86 people and maimed 434 people, Lt. Gen. (ret.) Michael T. Flynn, now the National Security Adviser to President-elect Donald J. Trump, said he was "done" with trying to convince President B.O. "to actually define this enemy" and added that the enemy is "radical Islamic terrorism," it is "on the march," and "this is a world war."

Lt. Gen. (ret.) Flynn, who served as the director of the Defense Intelligence Agency for two years in the B.O. regime and in the U.S. Army for 32 years, was interviewed about the July 14, 2016 terrorist attacks on Fox's The Kelly File.

Iraq
Iraqi troops capture 3 more neighborhoods in eastern Mosul
[Al Ahram] Iraqi troops on Thursday drove Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
murderous Moslems from three more neighborhoods in the northern city of djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
, pushing toward the city center in a slow, street-to-street fight that's now in its sixth week, according to a senior Iraqi commander.

Brig. Gen. Haider Fadhil of the special forces told The News Agency that Dare Not be Named that his men have retaken the neighborhoods of Amn, Qahira and Green Apartments and were expanding their foothold in the densely populated district of Zohour.

The neighborhoods are all in the eastern sector of Mosul, east of the Tigris River, where most of the fighting has taken place since the government's campaign to liberate the city began Oct. 17.

Government troops are backed by U.S.-led coalition Arclight airstrikes against IS positions in the city.

Mosul, captured by IS in 2014, is the last major urban center still held by the Sunni hard boy group in Iraq.

Late Wednesday, a front man for one of the larger state-sanctioned Shiite militias fighting on the ground near Mosul said the murderous Moslems have seized a road to the northwest of Mosul linking the city to Raqqa, the de facto capital of the IS group's self-styled caliphate in neighboring Syria. The militias have been converging on Tal Afar, an IS-held town west of Mosul that had a Shiite majority before falling to the Lions of Islam in 2014.

"We have cut off Tal Afar from Mosul and we cut off Mosul from Syria," Jaafar al-Husseini, a front man for the Hezbollah Brigades, told the AP.

Also Wednesday, a pre-dawn Arclight airstrike by the U.S.-led coalition struck a bridge across the Tigris River, which divides the city in two, leaving only one bridge for cars functioning in the city and disrupting IS supply lines.

It was the second bridge to be struck this week, and two other bridges were destroyed by Arclight airstrikes last month.

Airstrikes destroy last bridge linking Mosul’s west, east

Nineveh – (IraqiNews.com) US-led fighter jets destroyed on Thursday the last of five bridges linking the western bank of Tigris River with the eastern bank, practically isolating the east and west of Mosul, Islamic State’s last stronghold in Iraq.

The Nineveh province council said airstrikes destroyed the so-called, iron “Old Bridge”, the last after four others were demolished in military airstrikes over the past few days. This will make Nineveh “the burial place for the Islamic State,” as council member Mohamed Ibrahim al-Bayyati put it in a statement, He said that continuous military strikes will make the group eventually under siege from all directions.

Popular militias fighting ISIS besides the Iraqi government said Wednesday they had completely isolated Nineveh from all Iraq as well as from Syria, stripping ISIS of its vital supply lines.

ISIS had relied on booby-trapping the bridges to forestall advances on the ground by Iraqi forces.

ISIS’s “blood judge” killed in Nineveh

Nineveh – (IraqiNews.com) An Islamic State executioner judge known for Nineveh locals as the “blood judge” was killed Thursday in an armed assault at the central area of the province, a local source told Alsumaria News.

“The ISIS summary court judge, a French national, was killed by armed attackers boarding a car at the eastern coast of the province,” said the source. “The judge was known among the people of Nineveh as the ‘blood judge’, having sentenced any violator of the group’s directives to beheading and deprivation of burial.” He assumed his post a year earlier after a shakeup of ranks in the province, he explained.

ISIS put its fighters on alert to search for perpetrators, said the source.

EU Parliament Votes for Turkish Membership Talks Freeze
[ENGLISH.ALMANAR.LB] The European Parliament on Thursday voted in favour of a freeze of membership talks with The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
over its post-coup crackdown, further escalating tensions with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan
... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him...
Erdogan has already dismissed the vote as having "no value" as it is non-binding,
...so about as meaningful as the posturing against Israel that regularly occurs in the UN General Assembly...
and as most European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
member states so far want to keep the Turkey talks on track.

But the motion, approved by a big majority, is a fresh blow to ties that have unravelled in the wake of the failed July 15 failed putsch and threatened a key migration deal between Brussels and Ankara.
It's moving slow enough that you'd wonder if Carla del Ponte was in charge...
MEPs voting in Strasbourg, La Belle France, said the parliament "strongly condemns the disproportionate repressive measures taken in Turkey since the failed military coup attempt".

They said they remained "committed to keeping Turkey anchored to the EU" but said parliament "calls on the Commission and the Member States, however, to initiate a temporary freeze of the ongoing accession negotiations with Turkey."

The motion was approved by 479 votes to 37, with 107 abstentions.

Erdogan said on Wednesday that "I want to say in advance from here and address the whole world watching on their TV screens -- this vote has no value at all, no matter what result emerges."

"It is not possible for me to even digest the message that they want to deliver."

Europe’s message has however been increasingly clear about its concerns over rights and democracy in Turkey, especially over the coup crackdown that has seen almost 37,000 tossed in the slammer

Egyptian President says his country supports Haftar self-styled army at all times
[Libya Observer] The Egyptian President, Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, said in an interview aired on Tuesday with Portuguese broadcaster RTP that Egypt's military support always goes for the national army in Libya, referring to the self-styled army of Khalifa Haftar
... served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969. He became a prisoner of war in Chad in 1987. While held prisoner, he and his fellow officers formed a group hoping to overthrow Qadaffy. He was released around 1990 in a deal with the United States government and spent nearly two decades in the United States, gaining US citizenship. In 1993, while living in the United States, he was convicted in absentia of crimes against the Jamahiriya and sentenced to death. Haftar held a senior position in the anti-Qadaffy forces in the 2011 Libyan Civil War. In 2014 he was commander of the Libyan Army when the General National Congress (GNC) refused to give up power in accordance with its term of office. Haftar launched a campaign against the GNC and its Islamic fundamentalist allies. His campaign allowed elections to take place to replace the GNC, but then developed into a civil war. Guess you can't win them all...
's Dignity Operation militias.

"It is our country's priority to back up national armies, for example in Libya, to assert control over Libyan territories and deal with bully boy elements." al-Sissi said in the interview.

He also added that the same goes with Syria and Iraq, implying that he would always support dictators across the region.

Egypt has been a key ally for Khalifa Haftar self-proclaimed army since the start of his Dignity Operation in May 2014, giving him, along with the UAE, full military and logistic support, according to the audio leaks published by the British IHS Jane news website.

Relatedly, earlier this month, the New Arab published leaked information showing that before the Emirati military base was set up on the ground in al-Marij city, eastern Libya, UAE’s jet fighters backing Haftar forces used to take off from bases in western Egypt.

The Egyptian Presidents has, for many times, spoken out his support for the renegade General Khalifa Haftar and his Dignity Operation upon desire to obtain some sort of power in eastern Libya.

Khlaifa Haftar, on the second hand, has always reiterated his allegiance to Egyptian army and President, al-Sissi saying he would be in favor of Egypt even if that was against the Libyans' interest.

Migrants riot, clash with police in Bulgaria after camp sealed off
[AlAhram] Moslem colonists Migrants clashed with police and set fire to furniture and tires at a refugee camp in Bulgaria's southern town of Harmanli on Thursday, two days after the facility was sealed off following reports alleging outbreaks of disease among residents.

Last week Harmanli townspeople staged a protest calling for the camp's closure after local media alleged that migrants colonists there carried communicable skin diseases. Home to 3,000 mostly Afghan refugees, the camp is the largest in Bulgaria.

The head of the Bulgarian Refugee Agency, which runs the camp and took the decision to close it to allow health authorities to investigate, told Bulgarian National Radio that these reports were false.

"An artificially created tension led to this, following misleading reports that the centre is a hearth of infection," Petya Parvanova said. She was on her way to Harmanli, she said.

Moslem colonists Migrants threw stones and other missiles at riot police, who deployed water cannon to disperse them. The crowd briefly broke through a barrier at the camp but were quickly pushed back.

The protesters damaged several buildings, including the camp's cantine, and set fire to tires, mattresses and broken furniture. Firefighters were deployed to the scene, along with additional police forces.

"The riot had started at noon but the situation has been already brought under control," the interior ministry's spokeswoman told Rooters. "Negotiations between the authorities and the protesters are underway."

There were no reports of arrests or of any injuries.

Bulgaria has built a fence on its border with The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
and has bolstered its border controls to prevent inflows of illegal migrants colonists. Some 17,000 migrants colonists were detained in the first ten months of the year, over a third less than a year ago.

Despite the decreasing numbers, Bulgarian nationalists staged several protests in recent months calling for the immediate closure of all refugee centres in Bulgaria, and for migrants colonists to be returned to Turkey or their countries of origin. They say Bulgaria, the EU's poorest member state, cannot afford to support them in such numbers.

Turkish army blames Syria regime for deadly air strike
[Al Ahram] The Turkish army blamed the Syrian regime for an air strike Thursday in northern Syria that killed three soldiers -- the first time it has accused Damascus of killing its troops since launching its three-month military incursion.

The incident came on the first anniversary of the shooting down of a Russian military jet over the Syrian border by the Turkish air force.

That led to a seven-month crisis in relations between The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
and Russia, an ally of Syrian Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Scourge of Qusayr...
that has provided military support to Damascus.

The army said the strike took place at 3:30 am (0030 GMT). It did not indicate the location, although local media said it took place in the Al Bab region.

"In the air strike assessed to have been by Syrian regime forces, three of our heroic soldiers were killed and 10 soldiers maimed, one seriously," the armed forces said in an online statement.

Turkish media reported earlier that the attack was by Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. (IS) Death Eaters.

Adding to the confusion, the Britannia-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said it was an "attack by IS" on its website.

But Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim insisted at a news conference that the army's statement was "still valid".

He said it was evident that "some are not happy with Turkey's fight against ISIS (IS)", without indicating who this might be.

Yildirim vowed that the attacks would be "given a response" and would not diminish the military's determination to remove "terrorists" in the region.

But Turkey's main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) chief Kemal Kilicdaroglu warned that the incident could drag the country "into a very dangerous process" and called for the government to act with "common sense".

They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
is being crushed, its fighters are in retreat and the caliphate it sought to build in the image of a bygone glory is crumbling.

The biggest losers, however, are not the holy warriors, who will fulfill their dreams of death or slink into the desert to regroup, but the millions of ordinary Sunnis whose lives have been ravaged by their murderous rampage.

No religious or ethnic group was left unscathed by the Islamic State’s sweep through Iraq and Syria. Shiites, Kurds, Christians and the tiny Yazidi minority have all been victims of horrific atrocities, and they now are fighting and dying in the battles to defeat the holy warriors.

But the vast majority of the territory overrun by the Islamic State was historically populated by Sunni Arabs, adherents of the branch of Islam that the group claims to champion and whose interests the bully boyz profess to represent. The vast majority of the 4.2 million Iraqis who have been displaced from their homes by the Islamic State’s war are Sunnis. And as the offensives get underway to capture djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
, Iraq’s biggest Sunni city, and Raqqa, the group’s self-proclaimed capital in Syria, more Sunni towns and villages are being demolished, and more Sunni livelihoods are being destroyed.

Most Sunnis played no part in the holy warriors’ rise. All are paying a heavy price for the sake of those who did, accelerating and deepening a reversal in the fortunes of the majority sect of Islam that had ruled the region for most of the past 1,400 years.

"ISIS was a tsunami that swept away the Sunnis," said Sheik Ghazi Mohammed Hamoud, a Sunni tribal leader in the northwestern Iraqi town of Rabia, which was briefly overrun by the Islamic State in 2014 and is now under Kurdish control. "We lost everything. Our homes, our businesses, our lives."

Across the border in Syria, where the war against the Islamic State is entangled with the complicated conflict between rebels and the government of Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Oppressor of the Syrians and the Lebs...
, Sunnis are also bearing the brunt of the violence and dislocation. Sunni towns and neighborhoods are being leveled by Syrian and Russian Arclight airstrikes. The effort to crush the mostly Sunni rebellion relies heavily on Shiite fighters from Iran, Leb and Iraq. Sunnis comprise the vast majority of the 5 million refugees scattered around the region and in Europe, according to the United Nations
...an organization which on balance has done more bad than good, with the good not done well and the bad done thoroughly...
and the governments of the countries that are hosting them.

The dangers are clear, analysts and Iraqis say. Sunnis are at risk of becoming a dispossessed and resentful underclass in lands they once ruled, creating fertile conditions for a repeat of the cycle of marginalization and radicalization that gave rise to the Islamic State in the first place.
Ummm... Right. Brilliant piece of analysis there. Any solution? Or should they have just been left with their Islamic state in the first place? I thought they were equal opportunity head-choppers?

Taliban mulls peace talks resumption, condemn Ghani for seeking UN sanctions
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The Talibs group leadership is mulling to resume peace talks with the foreign stakeholders and the Afghan government, it has been reported.

The officials in Taliban’s political office in Qatar

"We are now exploring the options for talks with foreign stakeholders, as well as with the Afghan side," a Taliban leader has told The Express Tribune in an interview from Qatar.

The Taliban leader further added "It will be a national level decision. The consultation process was strong. The Taliban military commanders, who had not been on-board earlier, have also been taken into confidence. I would say the consultation process was initiated at the grassroots level this time," he said.

He rejected the notion that the Taliban want a military solution to the Afghan problem. "We want a non-military solution," he added.

Caribbean-Latin America
Colombian President, FARC Rebels Sign New Peace Pact
[WSJ] A new peace accord was signed Thursday between FARC rebels and President Juan Manuel Santos, who said he would seek congressional ratification instead of a popular referendum as he had with an original pact Colombians rejected in October.

Mr. Santos, speaking to more than 700 guests in the ornate Colon Theater in the heart of the capital, said the new accord "gives us hope, faith in the future and the possibility of a better life for us and our children." But his political opponents have promised a fight in congress and are considering the viability of collecting signatures for a petition calling for another plebiscite.

"We can’t forget that on Oct. 2, Colombians rejected this accord," Carlos Holmes Trujillo, a leader in the opposition Democratic Center party, said in an interview. "The people have a right to pronounce themselves."

Going to congress almost virtually assures approval of the 310-page deal, which grants the FARC, or Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia
FARC or FARC-EP, is either a Marxist-Leninist revolutionary guerrilla organization or a drug cartel based in Colombia. It claims to represent the rural poor in a struggle against Colombia's wealthier classes, and opposes United States influence in Colombia, neo-imperialism, monopolization of natural resources by multinational corporations, and the usual raft of complaints. It funds itself principally through ransom kidnappings, taxation of the drug trade, extortion, shakedowns, and donations. It has lately begun calling itself Bolivarian and is greatly admired by Venezuela's President-for-Life Chavez, who seemingly fantasizes about living in the woods and kidnapping people himself. He provides FARC with safe areas along the border.
, the right to start a political party in exchange for disarming nearly 6,000 fighters.

7.2 Quake Shakes El Salvador, Nicaragua
[ENGLISH.ALMANAR.LB] A Pacific Ocean earthquake with a 7.2 magnitude shook El Salvador and Nicaragua on Thursday, officials said, an hour after a powerful hurricane hit Nicaragua’s Caribbean coast.

Salvadoran authorities issued a tsunami alert as a precaution.

The temblor occurred around 120 kilometers (75 miles) off the coast of El Salvador, at a depth of 33 kilometers (20 miles), according to the US Geological Survey, confirming the magnitude given by Salvadoran officials.

Shaking was also felt in the Nicaraguan capital of Managua, and as far as the Costa Rican capital San Jose.

There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties.

Just one hour earlier, a powerful hurricane, Otto, packing winds of 175 kilometers (110 miles) per hour made landfall on Nicaragua’s other coast.

Then they made him chairman of the Dem national campaign committee, where he continued doing the same things only nobody paid any attention....

"Howard Dean is also on record maligning young people and millennials. Telling those Bernie folks they just need to get in line and maligning Bernie Sanders. And that is not what we need," Sanders said about the former party chairman.

"In my opinion we don't need white people leading the Democratic party right now," Sanders said.
Then why did that very pale man, Bernie Sanders, run for president of the United States and, had he won, head of the Democratic Party?
"The Democratic party is diverse, and it should be reflected as so in leadership and throughout the staff, at the highest levels. From the vice chairs to the secretaries all the way down to the people working in the offices at the DNC."
As I recall, Donna Brazile wasn't on your side, Bernie...
"I think we need a robust discussion about this and I think we need to hear more from all the candidates," Sanders told CNN's Brianna Keilar. "Jaime Harrison of South Carolina, he's great, too. He's done real party building, but everybody doesn't necessarily know Jaime and they want to know what he stands for. So I want to hear more from everybody."

"I want to hear from the millennials and the brown folks," she finished.

Sanders' reaction to a white person getting dragged from car and beaten by anti-Trump protestors: "Oh my goodness, poor white people."

Europe
Terror Gang was Set to Hit Paris on Dec. 1, Police Source Says
[AnNahar] A jihadist terror ring was planning to attack Gay Paree on December 1 and had researched sites including a Christmas market and Disneyland outside the capital as potential targets, a police source said Thursday.

Seven suspects were locked away
Youse'll never take me alive coppers!... [BANG!]... Ow!... I quit!
in police raids last weekend in the eastern city of Strasbourg and Marseille in the south following an eight-month investigation by security services, although two were later released.

The source said Sherlocks found the suspects had made internet searches on sites including the Christmas market on the prestigious Champs-Elysees avenue, the Disneyland Gay Paree theme park, cafe terraces in the northeast of the capital, the Gay Paree criminal police headquarters and a metro station.

Five of the suspects have had their custody extended under legislation covering investigations into an imminent terror attack.

One of the men is said to have told Sherlocks that attacks were planned and named the police headquarters in central Gay Paree and the DGSI domestic security department in the northwest of the city as targets.

Some members of the group are thought to have taken orders from a Syria-based jihadist.

Two handguns, an automatic pistol, a submachine gun and jihadist propaganda were all found during the raids in which they were arrested.

La Belle France is under a state of emergency that gives security forces enhanced powers of surveillance and arrest, a year after the Gay Paree attacks.
Update from An Nahar at 10:15 a.m. ET:
The other five -- four Frenchies and a Moroccan -- appeared in court before anti-terrorism judges on Friday, Public prosecutor Francois Molins said at a presser

He said that "elements seized in Strasbourg" included written documents showing "clear allegiance" to IS and "glorifying death and martyrdom".

The Grand Turk
Two Killed in Bomb Attack in Southern Turkey
[AnNahar] Two people were killed and 21 maimed on Thursday when a boom-mobile went kaboom! outside a local government building in the southern Turkish city of Adana, the latest attack to rock The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
this year.

The bomb went kaboom! in the car park of the governor's office for the Adana region, the governorate said in a statement.

The kaboom sparked a fire, with a cloud of dark smoke spewing into the sky.

The force of the blast caused damage to the governorate itself, state-run Anadolu news agency said, describing the blast as a "terror attack".

The attack is believed to have been carried out by a woman, Adana governor Mahmut Demirtas was quoted as saying by Anadolu, without providing further details of the nature of the blast.

He said two people were killed and 16 maimed. The Dogan news agency later said that the number maimed had risen to 21. Five were reported to be at death's door.

As has been the case with previous attacks, the Turkish authorities immediately slapped a broadcast ban on footage from the scene.

- 'Accursed terror' -
"This accursed terror continues to target our people," Turkey's EU Affairs Minister Omer Celik, a ruling party MP from Adana, wrote on Twitter.

"We will fight against terror until the very end in the name of humanity," he added.

With a population of almost two million, Adana is one of Turkey's largest cities, lying around 100 kilometres (60 miles) from the Syrian border.

The US consulate in the city had in September warned its citizens of a potential threat targeting US-branded hotels there.

"We strongly condemn the outrageous terrorist attack in Adana," the US embassy in Ankara said on Twitter.

"We mourn those lost, wish the maimed a speedy recovery and stand with Turkey against terror," it added.

Incirlik air base, located just outside Adana, is used by American and coalition forces as a hub for air raids against Islamic State

(IS) jihadists in neighbouring Syria.

The attack came on the same day that three Turkish soldiers were killed and 10 maimed in an air strike in northern Syria that Turkish officials blamed on the Syrian regime.

Although located in southern Turkey, Adana lies to the west of the southeastern region that has been the main theatre of conflict with the PKK.

Japanese ex-militant gets 12 years for 1986 Indonesia attack
[MIAMIHERALD] A member of a disbanded Japanese left-wing bad boy group was sentenced Thursday to 12 years in prison for an unsuccessful 1986 mortar attack on the Japanese Embassy in Indonesia, the Tokyo District Court said.

Former Japanese Red Army member Tsutomu Shirosaki had been accused of conspiring with another person to fire two rounds at the embassy from a hotel room in Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, according to Japan's Kyodo News service. Neither went kaboom!.

The 68-year-old Shirosaki was imprisoned in the United States for more than a decade for a rocket attack on the U.S. Embassy in Jakarta the same year. He was released in 2015, and Japanese authorities re-jugged

The Japanese Red Army carried out a series of violent hijackings and attacks globally in the 1970s and 1980s.

"They were heading toward the market. They weren't wearing shoes ... which drew attention," said a local named Abou. The girls passed by him around 7 am (0600 GMT), he said.

Armed man breaks into retirement home for monks
Based on the below updates, moved to P.3: Non-WoT at 10:35 a.m. ET.
[SkyNews] A MAN armed with a knife and a sawn-off shotgun has killed at least one person after bursting into a retirement home for monks in Montpellier, France.

Unconfirmed Rumour it's Samdullah Al Hydeh.
Update from An Nahar at 10:30 a.m. ET:
Investigators probing the killing of a worker at a Christian missionary retirement home in southern La Belle France believe it was a local crime and are not treating it as a terror attack, a prosecutor said Friday.

The death set nerves jangling in La Belle France late Thursday after a string of jihadist atrocities, but local prosecutor Christophe Barret said police believed it was not "Islamist terrorism".

"We are moving towards the idea of local crime, someone who was in the area of this home," Barret told news hounds, adding that a replica gun that fires pellets had been found in a vehicle parked nearby.

A man aged around 45 who lives in the village of Montferrier-les-Lez where the retirement home is located has been identified as a suspect, a source close to the case told AFP, asking not to be named.
Ynet adds:
The suspect is believed to be someone "in the entourage of this retirement home", Montpellier prosecutor Christophe Barret said in a news conference on Friday. He said Sherlocks discovered an air gun and other elements that he wouldn't detail in a car near the residence that helped identify the suspect.
