Their Beards All Grew Longer Overnight
[AccordingToHoyt] ...For years now, I’ve been telling you guys that this country is functionally occupied. Sometime between the forties and the seventies, a significant portion of our most promising young were proselytized and converted by the then USSR, an enemy that was not markedly skilled at much, except subversion, but who were very skilled at that.

This means, as my friend Bill Reader says, that "we’re doing all right, we just lost the cold war."

Oh, we won it, economically and militarily, and everywhere else, but they’d taken our culture, and their long march had acquired all the command positions, and therefore they were in control. And having been, effectively, turned into enemy agents, even after the enemy had disbanded, this meant that they treated us like an occupied land.

...We’re doing okay, it’s just that we’re occupied. And the couple of days have been an "oh, boy, howdy, and how!" as we watch people who pretend to care for the fate of the republic and to be proselytizers for freedom and liberty deliver themselves of painful and cringingly-awful encominiums to Castro, a man who would have been Stalin, had he had more territory than Cuba to rule over; a man who enslaved his own people and who, by hiring his army out, like the Hessian mercenaries of old, but worse, laid fire and waste to Africa and perpetrated (there) racist aggression as was rarely seen under European powers (except maybe by the Belgians who were special all over Congo and of course the soviets who were the masters of the Cubans.)

It’s been breath taking to watch the masks drop, and the would-be officials of our own country act like quislings and traitors. Their beards all seem to have grown longer overnight, (particularly the women’s) and the noises that comes from their mouths are no longer the sounds of rational human beings, but the eructations of the long-dead masters who possess them. They are channeling Marx and Lenin, Stalin and Pol Pot, standing atop the pile of corpses of their victims, and speaking with the rotten voice from the grave, lamenting the passing of one of the last of their comrades to resist the encroaching of liberty, and to carry on their carrion-tainted legacy.

Remember them. Keep in mind that moment when the masks dropped. They will try to don them again, and look, once more, impartial and over it all, and like gods among men. Don’t forget though, the death-marked visage they revealed and how their empathy for this repulsive tyrant reveals what they’d do, given a chance.

If Clinton Moved Four Counties to Other States, She'd Win!
IT'S SO UNFAIR!!!!
[WashingtonPost] Here's a fun little thought experiment demonstrating the fundamental arbitrariness of the electoral college: Had two state borders been drawn just a little bit differently, shifting a total of four counties from one state to another, Hillary Clinton would have won the election.
And if you shifted LA to Illinois, Trump would've won California. So what?
Take a look at the imaginary map above, which comes from an nifty online tool called Redraw the States. It was created by a mathematician and data scientist.

This map moves Lake County, Ill. to Wisconsin, turning that state blue. It moves Escambia, Santa Rosa and Okaloosa counties from the Florida panhandle to neighboring Alabama. That's enough to turn Florida blue. With victories in Wisconsin and Florida, Clinton squeaks to victory in the electoral college, 270 to 268.

Exact same votes, slightly different borders, radically different outcome: the capriciousness of the electoral college laid bare.
It also shows the fundamental wisdom of the system - populous areas can't overwhelm flyover country, taxing 51% of the people to fund the lifestyles of the other 49%.
Recall that the electoral college system is mostly winner-take-all (Maine and Nebraska are the exceptions, assigning most of their electors by congressional district). In Illinois, for instance, it does not matter whether Clinton won by 859,000 votes (her actual margin) or just 5,000 votes - in either scenario, all of the state's electoral votes go to her.
Here's another thought experiment, and you don't need a map. What if a million dead and illegals in Chicago didn't vote of Clinton? Then the state of Illinois goes to Trump.
That 859,000-vote margin means Clinton could lose hundreds of thousands of votes and still win Illinois handily. In Lake County, just north of Chicago, Clinton beat Trump by about 70,000 votes. That's greater than Trump's winning margin (about 20,000 votes) in the entire state of Wisconsin.

So, if you let Wisconsin annex Lake County, that state's margin shifts from 20,000 votes in favor of Trump, to 50,000 votes in favor of Clinton. And Clinton still wins Illinois, just by a slightly smaller margin. The net electoral result is that she wins both states.
Another thought experiment - if frogs had wings, would they be pigeons?

ESPN Loses 550K Subscribers In November
...and there's still one day to go!
[WashingtonExaminer] ESPN reportedly lost 555,000 subscribers this month, according to sports writer Clay Travis.

The drop in November for the sports media company comes right after its worst-ever month, when it lost an estimated 621,000 subscribers in October.
...
The network isn't totally oblivious to the role that politics has played in its recent coverage, and it has commented publicly about the issue in the past.

Whether the recent decline in subscriptions is motivated more by the supposedly political tone of its coverage or by the growing trend of Americans simply moving away from cable bundles is yet be determined. But if it's the former, and if subscriptions continue to trend downward, the network may find itself changing its tune real fast.
Ima thinking it's too late for that...

#8  Well down in Texas they refer to ESPN as ESiPN because of its shameless shilling for the texas university longhorn football team.

ESiPN worked up a deal with the longhorns to carry texas university sports. The deal quickly went sideways as the university wouldn't share revenue with other schools in the conference and because of that found it hard to work around commitments made by other schools to other broadcast venues such as Fox.

The end result is the longhorn network thing has soured a lot of people in the conference and in the State of Texas on ESiPN and are dropping them for other sports venues that are not so flaming biased for one school

[Yet Another] Independent presidential candidate files for recount of Nevada election
[MyNews4] An independent presidential candidate has filed a recount request for Nevada's election.

Roque "Rocky" De La Fuente said in a statement Tuesday that he would push for recounts in Nevada and Florida, saying both states "'earned' the right to be audited."

"...My only interest is to create a nationwide awareness of the vulnerability of our election system and to do everything possible to assure that your vote counts for the candidate for whom it is cast," he said.

Democrat Hillary Clinton won Nevada with 47.92 percent of the vote, or 539,260 votes total. De La Fuente came in last, finishing with 2,552 total votes, or 0.23 percent of the total.

Under Nevada law, any candidate can request a recount of the votes, but officials would only determine the number of votes received for the requesting candidate and the person who won the election. The requester would also have to cover the estimated cost of a recount in advance.

In De La Fuente's petition to the secretary of state's office, obtained by reporter Jon Ralston, he asks for recounts in 93 precincts, or about 5 percent of the statewide precincts. All but eight are in Clark County.

The recount would have to find a discrepancy of at least 1 percent for either Clinton or De La Fuente from the votes tallied in the original canvass to move forward. The secretary of state would then determine if a full statewide recount should be ordered, according to state law.

A recount is required to begin five days after a request is made, and it must be finished five days after it begins.

Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein has launched several high-profile petitions for recounts in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Michigan. Stein did not make Nevada's presidential ballot.

A call to the secretary of state's office has not been immediately returned.

#1  You keep reading about recounts. What about a vote audit? Shouldn't we have the ability to verify absentee ballots, provisional ballots and the like to verify that they were lawfully submitted? Seems to me that would be a better use of resources.
Posted by: Iblis || 11/30/2016 16:33 Comments || Top||

#2  What about a vote audit?

Despite their best efforts, Mr. Trump won anyway. What matters is cleaning uo the voter rolls to ensure the integrity of future votes, which the Republican-controlled states have been prevented from doing by for the past eight years by the Obama Justice department. Remove that overt impediment and only a few states will refuse to act. Those few can be addressed later, after the borders and sanctuary cities are controlled, it seems to me.

[CampusReform] - Columbia University has caved to demands for a "sanctuary campus," saying it will protect illegal immigrants from customs officials and work to bolster their financial aid.

- Following two student petitions, Provost John Coatsworth reassured students that Columbia would not cooperate with the incoming Trump administration.

Yeah, good luck with that. The Snowflakes may come to understand the concept of "Resource Allocation."
"The presidential election has prompted intense concern for the values we hold dear and for members of our community who are apprehensive about what the future holds," Provost John Coatsworth wrote in a campus-wide email.

He went on to declare that his "university will neither allow immigration officials on our campus without a warrant, nor share information on the immigration status of undocumented students with those officials unless required by subpoena or court order."

Sunday Night Football Takes Massive Ratings Nosedive in Week 12
The NFL’s narrative that the elections ruined their ratings took a substantial blow on Monday when the overnight numbers for NBC’s Sunday Night Football became available.

Hint: they did not impress.

NBC’s broadcast of the Chiefs vs. Broncos on SNF came in a staggering 27 points behind last year’s Week 12 SNF matchup featuring the Patriots and the Broncos. Sure, Patriots-Broncos makes for a more compelling watch than Chiefs-Broncos, but does not justify a thirty-point ratings difference.

The NFL actually tried to do the right thing on Sunday night and it still blew up in their face. The league, rightly, stepped in and moved the originally-scheduled Pats-Jets matchup to Sunday afternoon, replacing it with a much more appetizing Chiefs and Broncos, two relevant division rivals fighting it out for playoff position.
If you say so. I was otherwise engaged.
Despite the game turning into an extremely hard-hitting, five-quarter affair complete with nail-biting moments and controversial decisions, the fans did not give it the time of day.

This ratings letdown stands in stark contrast to the Redskins-Cowboys game on Thanksgiving Day which drew more than 35 million viewers. The league thought that number would signal a turn in their ratings fortunes but instead it proved that the entire country at home and unable to move watches television.
Huh? But, again, I was otherwise engaged.
Not to mention the fact that the presidential election ended three weeks ago, which makes pinning the NFL’s woes on the "quadrennial silly season" all the more problematic. In short, the NFL might just have to wake up to the fact that America just isn’t that into them anymore.

#3  No, blabberneck was busy embarrassing castro to death, but one of the KC D is in suit.

We all ended up turning the sound off and BSn. So, the game was on, but nobody was watching really.

Same with the Thanksgiving game. On, nobody watching.

That's the deal. Nobody knows if it is a good game if nobody turns it on. At one point I looked at the screen and went, "Hey, it's overtime. OK." then back to BSn.

So I guess that habit is kicked. I love the sport of football, but I can find it elsewhere, or even actually learn the rules of rugby to better appreciate the gameplay.

#5  Absolutely.
Tried doing just that during the 2015 MLB playoffs. By the time the World Series came around I was so very tired of the Fox Sports broadcasting teams, and the team they had was so rooting for the Metros it was a slobber fest.

I couldn't get radio, so I would turn the sound off when New York was batting, then turn it back on when KC was batting and harvested their little tears from the corner of my TV. Not as tasty as Vintage 2016, but still a fine sip.

Sweden's unsent letter to a President-elect Hillary Clinton: ‘It is a milestone for the world'
[WashingtonPost] Ahead of the U.S. presidential election on Nov. 8, Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Lofven drafted two letters. One was addressed to Hillary Clinton, the Democratic nominee who enjoyed broad approval among Swedes. The other was to Republican Donald Trump, the upstart candidate who was viewed negatively by many in Sweden.

The letters were intended to congratulate the winner of the election.

Only one was ever sent.

Lofven's office released parts of the letter sent to Trump last week, though considerable sections of it were censored under Sweden's official secrets act. On Monday, the Expressen newspaper released what it said was a copy of the letter in its entirety.

Expressen simultaneously also published what it said was the letter Lofven had intended to send to Clinton if she won the election. As reporter Niklas Svensson noted, there was a "clear difference" in tone between the two letters.
Go figure.
Notably, in the letter to Clinton, Lofven writes in the first paragraph that "it is a pleasure" to congratulate the new president; he does not say the same to Trump. Lofven then calls Clinton's election a "milestone for the world." Noting that he leads what has been referred to as the world's first "feminist government," he says he is looking forward to working with the Clinton administration to "increase gender equality worldwide."

Here's that section in full:

"As the leader of Sweden's -- and the world's -- first feminist government, I attach great importance to the fact that you will be the first woman to take office as President of the United States. It is a milestone for the world. I am looking forward to cooperating with you and your administration on how to increase gender equality worldwide."

The tone of the letter to Trump is markedly less warm, offering only congratulations and noting that Swedes "value the broad collaboration" between their country and the United States.

Obama Administration RAIDING MEDICARE ACCOUNTS To Feed Illegal Youths
[AmericaLookout] The Obama administration is now stealing money which was appropriated for services to help American citizens. And he’s using it to feed people who are in the country illegally.

Whose side is he on?

The Washington Examiner reports:

Feds cut $167 million in domestic programs to house, feed illegals for just 1 month

The Department of Health and Human Services is raiding several of its accounts, including money for Medicare, the Ryan White AIDS/HIV program and those for cancer and flu research to cover a shortfall in housing illegal youths pouring over the border at a rate of 255 a day.

HHS is trying to come up with $167 million to fund the Office of Refugee Resettlement that is accepting the youths, according to the Center for Immigration Studies.

Policy Director Jessica Vaughan said that insiders have told her that the funding crisis has forced the department to squeeze programs for money.

She just revealed on the CIS website:

"An average of 255 illegal alien youths were taken into the custody of the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) every day this month, according to the latest figures the agency provided to Congress. This is the largest number of illegal alien children ever in the care of the federal government. To pay for it, the agency says it will need an additional one or two billion dollars for the next year ‐ above and beyond the $1.2 billion spent in 2016 and proposed for 2017 ‐ depending on how many more arrive."

This is astounding. The Obama administration is doing this while the media is promising to be tough on Trump.

Where are they now, while Obama is still in charge?

China-Japan-Koreas
China says it wants smooth military ties with Trump
[Reuters] China said on Wednesday it wanted to develop smooth military-to-military ties with the new U.S. administration of Donald Trump.

While the world's two largest economies are frequently at odds over issues like the disputed South China Sea, both have been trying to improve trust between their armed forces to reduce the risk of misunderstanding in any encounters.

This month, China and the United States staged a three-day humanitarian relief military drill as part of that trust-building exercise.

New concern looms with Trump's election as U.S. president. He lambasted China on the campaign trail and has suggested Japan and South Korea be allowed to develop nuclear weapons.

Asked about Trump's election, Chinese Defence Ministry spokesman Yang Yujun said it went without saying there were tensions in the military relationship and China hoped the United States would respect its core interests and concerns.

"China is willing to work hard together with the defense department of the next U.S. government to promote the healthy and stable development of military-to-military relations," Yang told a monthly news briefing.

Taqiyya: White House Warns Against Blaming Religion of Islam After Ohio State Attack
This is not ignorance, it is promotion of the evil embraced by leftists. Not only do you not protect the people against Islam it you actively import it for various reason.
[Breitbart] The Obama Administration is warning America not to cast blame on Muslims after a student at Ohio State University launched an attack on innocent civilians that was likely inspired by Islamic State terrorists.

"Our response to this situation matters," White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest explained to reporters during the press briefing. "If we respond to this situation by casting aspersions on millions of people that adhere to a particular religion or if we increase our suspicion of people who practice a particular religion, we are more likely going to contribute to acts of violence than we are to prevent them.

#9  C'mon, really?
if we increase our suspicion of people who practice a particular religion, we are more likely going to contribute to acts of violence than we are to prevent them

I abhor the thought (now fact) that the best minds of Rantburg are presenting justifying rational based upon an oral, historical (hysterical) mythology that has been repeated and corrupted over a span of more than 50 generation.

A belief system, sure, as credible and verifiable as "Frodo lives!" or rain frogs breed in clouds.

This is a minority subculture becoming mainstream thanks in part to the ease of travel and information flow. Its followers may have been rooted in a oppressed, protein deprived nomadic society but the organic causes of current violent acts have nothing to do with religion. That is simply a framework for the primitive expression of 'them not like us' embraced by the disenfranchised seeking group identity. Violence binds haters and provides them a cause.

Not much different than Tory vs. Whig, or Catholic vs. Protestant as exercises in political expressionism.

In any case, 'the whiney shits are fucking with the way I chose to live my life'. If they can't be reasonable their lifelights can be extinguished.

CIA chief warns Trump: Scrapping Iran deal 'height of folly'
[BBC] The director of the CIA has warned US President-elect Donald Trump that ending the Iran nuclear deal would be "disastrous" and "the height of folly".
'Height of folly' found just to the right.
In a BBC interview, John Brennan also advised the new president to be wary of Russia's promises, blaming Moscow for much of the suffering in Syria.

In his campaign, Mr Trump threatened to scrap the Iran deal and also hinted at working more closely with Russia.
Mr Brennan will step down in January after four years leading the CIA.

In the first interview by a CIA director with the British media, John Brennan outlined a number of areas where he said the new administration needed to act with "prudence and discipline" - these included the language used regarding terrorism, relations with Russia, the Iran nuclear deal and the way in which the CIA's own covert capabilities were employed.

Mr Brennan offered a bleak assessment of the situation in Syria arguing that both the Syrian regime and the Russians were responsible for a slaughter of civilians which he described as "outrageous".

The administration of President Barack Obama has pursued a policy of supporting moderate rebels fighting the Assad regime in Syria. The CIA director said that he believed the US needed to continue that support to help rebels withstand what he called an "onslaught" carried out by Syria, Iran, Hezbollah and Russia.

So Why Don't We Study Female Sexual Predators More?
I wondered this as I read over an article at The Atlantic entitled "The Understudied Female Sexual Predator" by Conor Friedersdorf. The author and the researchers in the article seem surprised to find that so many women are predators, although shows like Snapped have been around for years and Patricia Pearson told us this info in the 1990's in her book When She Was Bad...: Violent Women and the Myth of Innocence. But hey, better late than never.

Anyway, at least the article points out that sexual violence against men by women has been going on for some time:

The Folly of Importing Muslims Into America
[PJ] You'd think we'd learned our lesson by now, but no. At the Observer, John Schindler writes:

It’s happened again. Yesterday, on the campus of Ohio State University, an angry young man used his car as a weapon, plowing through a group of bystanders, whom he then attacked with a butcher knife. Eleven innocent people were injured, though mercifully all are expected to make a full recovery.

This time, we got lucky. A campus cop was on-scene within a minute and, when the madman running amok refused to follow orders to drop his knife, the policeman opened fire, killing him before he struck lethally. Which was clearly his intent, as described by a student who witnessed the event unfold: "He seemed like a crazed animal. He seemed like he was determined. He seemed like he was there for one reason--to do as much damage as he could."

Before any facts were established, the left-wing online outrage machine went into overdrive, like clockwork, with Democratic politicians and activists denouncing their usual suspects. One was Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine, recently the Democratic vice-presidential nominee, who tweeted, "Deeply saddened by the senseless act of gun violence at Ohio State this morning." Countless fervent Social Justice Warriors took to social media to express their deep hope that the shooter was a white racist--presumably inspired by President-elect Donald Trump and his message of "hate."

Embarrassingly for the Left, the failed spree killer in Columbus turned out to have no gun at all. Worse for the liberal smart-set, he was a Somali refugee--hardly a redneck domestic terrorist. The disappointment felt online was palpable as it turned out the perpetrator was a Muslim of color, plus an immigrant to boot. He seemed to be practically a caricature drawn from Trump’s repeated warnings about the dangers posed by importing Muslims to America.

Virtually every liberal cliché was on display here. The dead man, Abdul Razak Ali Artan, an 18-year-old (some sources say 20), was a recent refugee arrival from Somalia, via Pakistan. His family moved to the United States in 2014 and Artan got an associate’s degree in 2016, then transferred to Ohio State to continue his studies.

Although Columbus has a considerable Somali community, Artan clearly did not feel at home there, as he told a campus newspaper back in late August, upon his arrival, complaining about how inadequate Ohio State was for a Muslim like himself. Artan was miffed about the lack of prayer rooms: "I wanted to pray in the open, but I was scared with everything going on in the media. I’m a Muslim, it’s not what the media portrays me to be. If people look at me, a Muslim praying, I don’t know what they’re going to think, what’s going to happen."

What did happen is exactly what any reasonable person might expect was going to happen -- another holy warrior masquerading as a "refugee" (a Somali who spent years in Pakistan, no less) -- exploded in Sudden Jihad Syndrome and began attacking innocent real Americans in the heart of the Midwest. When do we say, enough?

My voter registration read "Democrat" on 9/11...but I've not voted for one single Democrat since then. Astronauts spooked by mysterious knocking sound that no one can explain
[Caution: Mirror Alert] China's first astronaut says he heard mysterious knocks during his first flight in space - but no one has been able to explain the cause of them.

Astronaut Yang Liwei said the strange noises left him feeling very nervous and he looked out into the vast emptiness of space but couldn't see anything out of the ordinary.

Mr Yang, now a major general in China's Air Force, said it sounded like someone was knocking the body of the spaceship, comparing the noise to that of a hammer hitting an iron bucket.
Popping rivets ?
The 51-year-old's unexplained experience has raised all kinds of theories, including aliens , and he said he has never heard the sound again since returning to earth.

In 2003 Mr Yang became the first person sent into space by the Chinese space programme, orbiting earth several times during a 21-hour flight.

He recalled the experience in a recent interview, telling Chinese media the mysterious knocking sounds occurred without rhyme or reason. He said: "A non-causal situation I have met in space is a knock that appeared from time to time.

"It neither came from outside nor inside the spaceship, but sounded like someone is knocking the body of the spaceship just as knocking an iron bucket with a wooden hammer.

Netanyahu must choose between coalition and Obama
[Jpost] Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu canceled his scheduled speech at a conference for the National Library and other items on his Tuesday itinerary, because he was suffering from a case of the flu.

Chances are the flu will remain on Wednesday, when the Knesset is set to vote on the controversial outpost and muezzin bills. But it is doubtful he will be able to use his illness to get out of those votes.

Barring a last-minute political deal, Netanyahu will have to choose between upsetting his traditional right-wing political base and infuriating the administration of outgoing US President Barack Obama.
Definition of outgoing
a : going away : departing
b : retiring or withdrawing from a place or position e.g. the outgoing president

When he had to make the same decision last time, at the preliminary reading of the bill, he voted for legislation that would enable the legalization of outposts built on privately owned Palestinian land.

The vote was reportedly seen by the Obama administration as "spitting in its face," even though the preliminary reading of a bill is usually irrelevant within the perspective of the lengthy Israeli legislative process.
I wonder how the Obama admin will view it this time?

Trump adviser Conway to tour Alberta oil sands
[The Hill] Top Donald Trump aide Kellyanne Conway will make a trip to the Alberta oil sands before January’s inauguration, a right-wing Canadian group announced on Tuesday.

Conway will visit Alberta in January and tour the province's oil-producing region, the Alberta Prosperity Fund announced on Tuesday.

Alberta's oil sands are a key driver of Canada's oil industry and the source of the tar sands oil that was set to flow through the Keystone XL pipeline. President Obama rejected that project last year, but Trump has said he will approve the project once he takes office.

Keystone developer TransCanada said after Trump's election that it plans to "engage" with Trump. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) also used a meeting with Trump to promote the Keystone project, which Republicans and the oil industry say will create jobs.

Conway will also host a fundraiser for the Alberta Prosperity Fund, which said her visit will be "a call to action for Alberta industry whose competitiveness and market access have been restricted by excessive regulation and public protests."

"This visit by such an influential member of a U.S. administration should stand as a call to action for all Alberta industry," Prosperity Fund founder and President Barry McNamar said in a statement.

"I hope that Ms. Conway receives an enthusiastic welcome here in Alberta and can return to the US with an informed attitude towards Canadian export products."

New Hampshire Dem Running For DNC Chair has...baggage [VIDEO]
[Daily Caller] The chair of the New Hampshire Democratic Party who was once filmed making sexually explicit comments has announced his bid to be the next Democratic National Committee chair.

Raymond Buckley, who would be the country’s first openly gay chair of a major national party, says he will bring much-needed "urgent reform" to the DNC if elected. But Buckley doesn’t come without baggage of his own.

In 2007, as Buckley was running for chair of the state Democratic Party, video surfaced on YouTube showing him making sexually explicit comments and unzipping his pants on camera. "Would you like me to fuc* you hard?" he says into the camera.

Then-Democratic Rep. Paul Hodes called the video "highly disturbing" and said "proper authorities should look into the matter to determine the best course of action."

Around the same time, Buckley’s former housemate, state Rep. Steve Vaillancourt accused Buckley of possessing child pornography, prompting a months-long investigation into the matter.

What if Trump Enforces The LAW?!
h/t Instapundit
If confirmed as Trump’s attorney general, the Alabama senator would instantly become one of the most powerful people overseeing the nation’s immigration policy, with wide latitude over the kinds of immigration violations to prosecute and who would be deported.

As the nation’s top cop, Sessions would be able to direct limited department resources to pursuing immigration cases. He could launch federal investigations into what he perceives as discrimination against U.S. citizens caused by immigration. He would be in charge of drafting legal rationales for immigration policies under the Trump administration.

And Sessions, as attorney general, could find ways to choke off funding for "sanctuary cities," where local officials decline to help federal officials identify undocumented immigrants so they can be deported.

Doesn’t that sound great? And it’s not all, either. But first, this:

Some immigrant advocates are alarmed by the idea of a Justice Department led by someone they see as far outside the mainstream.

It can’t be "far outside the mainstream" to enforce existing federal law. On the contrary, it is the president’s most fundamental constitutional duty to take care that the laws be faithfully executed. Barack Obama violated this duty, to his everlasting shame. It also can’t be "far outside the mainstream" for Trump and Sessions to carry out the policies on which Trump campaigned and was elected.

OSU Diversity Officer Urges Compassion for Somali Terrorist Who Attacked Students
[PJ] The Ohio State University assistant director of residence life allegedly expressed sympathy for Somali stabber Abdul Razak Ali Artan in a bizarre Facebook post Monday that has since gone viral.

Stephanie Clemons Thompson urged her followers to have compassion for Artan after he expressed a desire "to kill a billion infidels" and then tried to kill as many as he could at OSU. Instead, they give carefully edited snips / quotes of his ranting that effectively cover up the venom spewing from him just before the attack. JihadWatch -- who are NOT "real journalists" and who are also apparently unable to create a genuine JPG from a "screen capture" either -- has posted a poor quality image of the screen, which may or may not be true.

More National Felon League (NFL) blissful under achievement
[Guardian] Former NFL star Darren Sharper was sentenced on Tuesday a 20-year prison term, ending a tour of shame and punishment in the courthouse where he first admitted drugging and raping women in four states.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michael Pastor denounced Sharper’s "horrible conduct" and "disgraceful abuse of trust" during the hearing that concluded prosecutions that unmasked the popular former all-pro safety and Super Bowl champion as a serial rapist.

Under the terms of a plea deal negotiated with prosecutors in four states, Sharper will be eligible for parole in about eight years because California law requires he serve half his sentence and he has already been behind bars more than two years since his arrest.

But he will probably serve more time if an appeals court upholds an 18-year prison sentence handed down by a New Orleans federal judge who rejected the deal as too lenient. Sharper has appealed that harsher sentence.

Senior White House Aide Ben Rhodes Will Attend Fidel Castro's Memorial
[Breitbart] A senior White House aide to President Barack Obama will attend Cuba dictator Fidel Castro’s service, according to the White House press secretary Josh Earnest.

The White House decided against sending an official delegation to represent the United States at Fidel Castro’s memorial, but will allow senior aide Ben Rhodes to attend as an informal symbol of his work to normalize relations with the communist country.

"America sometimes makes itself a prisoner of our own history. We have a very complicated history with Cuba," Rhodes explained during a discussion of his work for Obama in the Atlantic.

Earnest said that Rhodes had already planned a trip to Cuba this week, and would attend along with Ambassador Jeffrey DeLaurentis, the Chargé d’Affaires at the newly reopened U.S. Embassy in Havana, Cuba.

Rhodes’ trip, Earnest explained, would show the appropriate amount of respect for the Cuban people, but without the honor of an official delegation.

The statement further added that the turbans had managed to join the Afghan National Army and Afghan Border Police forces.

According to the local officials, the turbans have in the past killed a number of the religious holy mans, government officials, and tribal elders.

The Afghan intelligence operatives launched a covert operation to identify the turbans who were arrested based on a tip off, the officials said.

Two Indian soldiers killed in attack on army base near Line of Control
[DAWN] Armed turbans attacked a major Indian army base near the Line of Control (LoC) early Tuesday, killing two soldiers, police said.

"Three to four turbans entered the Army Corps headquarters at Nagrota and fired towards the officers' mess," a police brass hat told AFP, referring to a town in northern India roughly 20 kilometres from the border.

"Two officers were killed and an exchange of fire is on," he told AFP by phone, speaking on condition of anonymity
... for fear of being murdered...
Defence ministry front man Manish Mehta said the attack was still going on, but did not comment on the casualties.

"Early morning an encounter took place and gunnies have entered one of our military areas. The situation is under control, as soon as the operation is over we will be able to give details," he told news hounds.

"Terrorists are armed, they have weapons, and that is why firefight is taking place."

No group has grabbed credit for the attack on the Nagrota base, one of four command centres in the northern state of Jammu and Kashmire and home to over 1,000 officers.

The rise in violence follows the September Uri attack, in which 19 Indian soldiers were killed, the deadliest such incident in a decade.

New Delhi blamed Pakistain-based turbans and claimed to have launched what it called "surgical strikes" on turbans across the heavily militarised border, sparking fury from Islamabad, which denied they took place.

Afghanistan
Afghan commander dies in helo crash
[AlManar] Afghanistan’s army said one of its top commanders was killed Tuesday when a military helicopter crashed in the western Afghan province of Badghis.

General Mohayedin Ghori commanded the 207th Corps and was one of the six regional commanders of the Afghan army, responsible for the country’s western zone, defense ministry spokesman Mohammad Radmanish said.

“General Ghori was martyred and a number of officers injured in the crash,” Radmanish said.

He said a “technical fault” caused the Russian-made Mi-17 aircraft to go down in the Murichan area of the Bala Murghab district.

Ghori was on a mission to visit a newly established army base in the volatile district, where the Afghan army has recently pushed back a major Taliban offensive.

Taliban insurgents claimed responsibility for the crash in a statement but Radmanish denied this, saying there were no insurgents operating in the area at the time of the accident.

Afghan president Ashraf Ghani described the death of General Mohayedin as a “big loss” for the Afghan security forces and people, according to a statement.

The US-led NATO coalition also issued a statement expressing condolence over the death of the top Afghan general.

A local official who spoke on condition of anonymity said the provincial head of the country’s spy agency was among those wounded in the crash. He could not give details of exactly how many other people had been injured in the accident.

Once a strong flying power thanks to Soviet Union support, Afghanistan’s air force was decimated by the civil war of the 1990s and the turbulent period of Taliban-rule.

The Afghan air force (AAF) now has around 100 aircraft, including 27 MD-530 attack helicopters, and about 20 small support aircraft, such as the Brazilian built A-29 Super Tucanos — used against drug traffickers in Latin America. It also has approximately 50 Russian Mi-17 transport choppers.

29 PKK terrorists 'neutralized' in SE Turkey operations
Ten PKK terrorists were "neutralized" Tuesday in ongoing anti-terror operations in Turkey’s southeastern province of Sirnak, the local governorate announced, Anadolu reported.

"14 terrorists were neutralized for the past week in Cudi Mountain area," added the statement issued by the Sirnak Governor's office.

According to an statement by the Turkish General Staff, three PKK terrorists were "neutralized" during a conflict in Hozart district of eastern Tunceli province.

Two terrorists were "neutralized" in an air operation in Sirnak's suburbs, while five others killed with drone and three in clash with security forces in the same area.

Another terrorist was "neutralized" in Diyarbakir’s Silvan district.

Six suspects have been arrested in southeastern Batman province on charges of aiding and abetting PKK terrorists, according to the provincial gendarmerie command. The suspects were later remanded in custody by Batman criminal court of peace.

In a separate operation, five terrorists were neutralized -- including a high-profile terrorist -- in southeastern Mardin's Buyukkardes neighborhood, after curfew was declared early Tuesday in a total of five neighborhoods, security sources said.

The slain high-profile terrorist, Hasan Turan, who went by the nickname Seyit Reso, was said to be in charge of the Mardin area for the PKK, the source said. Turan had a price of 300,000 Turkish liras put on his head and was also featured in "category grey" of Turkish Interior Ministry’s “wanted terrorists” list.

Half of Eastern Aleppo Cleared of Militants
"Secured area"
[Al-Manar] Syrian government forces have cleared half of eastern Aleppo from militants, liberating 80,000 residents, Russian Defense Ministry said on Tuesday.
“In fact, half of the territory in parts of eastern Aleppo occupied by militants in recent years has been completely freed,” spokesman Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov said.

“Most importantly, more than 80,000 Syrians have been liberated, tens of thousands children. Many received for the first time water, food, medical care from Russian humanitarian centers,” he stressed, according to Sputnik.

However, Western countries are exhibiting “surprising blindness” in their evaluation of the Syrian government troops’ ability to achieve progress in Aleppo, the ministry added.

The statement was made in response to statements by the US Department of State, British Foreign Office and French Foreign Ministry that Aleppo civilians allegedly sustained huge losses during an operation of the Syrian troops, as well as calls by certain Bundestag lawmakers to impose new sanctions against Russia.

“Our Western counterparts are showing surprising blindness when it is time to assess the real situation in Aleppo. Over the past day, thanks to very well prepared and careful actions of Syrian servicemen, the situation drastically changed. Nearly half of the territory of Aleppo’s eastern part occupied by militants over the past years has been completely liberated,” Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov said.

Standing Rock activists asking white people to stop treating pipeline protest like Burning Man
A reported influx of white protestors at Standing Rock has led to an unusual request from activists at the North Dakota Access Pipeline protest.

According to the Independent, fellow protestors are asking white demonstrators to please stop treating the area like a free-for-all festival, complete with drugs, unsolicited music and photo ops.

"No drugs or alcohol... This is not burning man or a festival," one statement posted on Facebook reads. "... YOU ARE NOT ON VACATION. This is not a camping trip."

"White people are colonizing the camps..." protestor Alicia Smith added on Facebook. "They are coming in, taking food, clothing and occupying space without any desire to participate in camp maintenance and without respect of tribal protocols.

"These people are treating it like it is Burning Man or The Rainbow Gathering and I even witnessed several wandering in and out of camps comparing it to those festivals."

Several of the requests, which are going viral on social media, ask that people stop breaking into song.

"Nobody wants to hear your songs with your guitar or drum around the fire," one tweet reads.

According to other protestors, some of the new additions have also asked to use donation money to buy "fluoride-free" water instead of drinking from taps. Another protestor witnessed "a dozen or so white people" encouraging other demonstrators to block police from crossing a bridge.

"These agitators unnecessarily wanted to put people in danger of being arrested just so their picture might go viral," she wrote on Twitter.

Iraq
Baghdad Bomb and Bullet Bulletin: 1 dead

1 dead in bombing at Diyala Bridge

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) One civilian was killed and six others were wounded when an IED rocked an area southeast of Baghdad on Tuesday, police sources said.

The bomb went off near a popular restaurant at Diyala Bridge.

Since 2014, violence surged in Iraq with the Islamic State militants taking over wide areas of the country, and the United Nations said earlier this month that 58000 people died since then. UN statistics say 3150 Iraqis were either killed or wounded in violence during October alone, with Baghdad marked as the most hit.

Observers believe ISIS have begun to target several areas across Iraq to divert security focus on Mosul, where the group fights to defend its last bastion in Iraq under the brunt of continuous advancements by Iraqi government and popular troops.

The terror group's Amaq News Agency on Tuesday claimed the attack, carried out by an 18-year-old Ohio State student, was perpetrated by a "soldier of the Islamic State."

Authorities have not commented on what motivated the attack but could not rule out the possibility of terrorism.

Abdul Razak Ali Artan hit a crowd of pedestrians with a car before stabbing several people with a butcher knife Monday morning on Ohio State's campus.

Artan was killed by an officer at the scene.

Nine people were maimed but are expected to make full recoveries.

Man who indirectly caused death of Florida deputy had been deported twice before
[LATINO.FOXNEWS] A man from El Salvador who indirectly caused the death of a Florida sheriff's deputy had been deported twice before, most recently in September.

During a court hearing on Monday, Francisco Portillo-Fuentes told a federal judge he wanted to plead guilty to illegally re-entering the United States but claimed his innocence in regard to Deputy Eric Oliver's death.

Oliver, a Nassau County deputy, was fatally struck by a passing SUV while he was chasing Portillo-Fuentes on foot.

The Florida Times-Union reported Portillo-Fuentes was riding in a truck with other men and when U.S. Border Patrol agents approached, he ran and deputies gave chase.

Mark Rosenblum, Portillo-Fuentes' attorney, told News4Jax that what his client did was not intentional.

"He didn't do anything. Basically all he did, as I understood what they tell me, is that he bravely ran away. And that to me is just human nature. It's what's called fight or flight," the lawyer said.

Portillo-Fuentes could face up to two years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

The man had been deported in 2011 and again sometime after an Aug. 15, 2016, conviction for DUI, News4Jax reported. He has a third-grade education, is married and is the father of three children.

Records show Portillo-Fuentes returned to the U.S. by crossing the Rio Grande just three days before Oliver was killed.

Puntland forces approach Qandala, ready to attack ISIL
Hundreds of pro-government Somali forces began moving toward the port town of Qandala on Monday for an offensive against Islamic State fighters who seized it last month, Qandala’s mayor said. The forces include militia fighters, soldiers from the semi-autonomous region of Puntland and fighters from the same clan as Abdiqadir Mumin, the Somali insurgent leader who has pledged allegiance to Islamic State, Somali security officials said.

“We and our forces left Bosasso today with the intention to capture to Qandala, which is now only 100 km (60 miles) away from us. We shall keep on moving until we liberate the town,” Jamac Mohamed Khurshe told Reuters.

Bosasso is a major Somali city.

There were at least 400 clan fighters, an official added, but he did not know the size of the other two components of the pro-government forces.

Mumin and his men splintered from al Shabaab, a much larger Islamist insurgent force that is fighting the Western-backed Somali government to impose a strict interpretation of sharia law. No evidence has yet emerged of major operational ties between Mumin’s men and Islamic State in the Middle East.

Qandala is the first town Mumin’s men took since emerging as a rival force to al Shabaab a year ago. Residents in villages along the road to Qandala said Mumin’s men planted numerous bombs along the route.

ISIS using decoys in Anbar

Anbar (IraqiNews.com) Islamic State militants deploy mock weaponry in Anbar to give an impression it is still holding ground in the province, according to an army official.

Major Nouman Abdul Zawbai, the 7th division commander in Anbar, was quoted by Alsumaria news on Tuesday as saying that ISIS are setting up “wooden tanks” and “bearded dummies” across the towns of Annah and Rawa, west of Anbar.

“Doing that, the group wants to make locals believe it still possesses equipment and fighters, but their trick was exposed by reconnaissance aircrafts from the international coalition flying above the two towns,” said Zawbai.

A similar trick by ISIS was exposed in Nineveh after several areas were liberated at the province.

ISIS is reportedly confining thousands of civilians in Annah and Rawa as potential human shields while preparations are still underway for an offensive by government and tribal forces against the group there.

6 ISIS Bad Guys have a Very Bad Day in Rawa

Anbar (IraqiNews.com) The army’s 7th brigade in Anbar Province announced killing six members of the Islamic State extremist group by an air strike in Rawa.

Commander of the brigade, Major General Noman Abd al-Zaweiy said in a press statement, “International coalition air force managed to destruct two vehicles belonging to the Islamic State in Rawa city.”

“The air strike also resulted in the killing of six ISIS terrorists who were inside the two vehicles,” Zaweiy added.

Security forces are preparing to liberate the cities of Rawa and Anah in western Anbar from the ISIS control, while the international coalition air force and Iraqi Air Force continue shelling ISIS targets in the two cities.

five al-Qaeda suspects involved in five kabooms in court premises.

India's National Investigative Agency (NIA) has apprehended five youth suspected to have links with al-Qaeda. The NIA had launched a 24-hour joint operation with state police forces. "During sustained examination, they have confessed their involvement in these blasts," the NIA said in a statement. After interrogation, three members were arrested on Monday and two others on Tuesday. NIA claimed that during preliminary questioning, arrested persons accepts the plan they were being planning to carry out attack on India's top 22 leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Indian agencies were being searching these youths for their involvement in a serial of kabooms occurred in south India court complexes since April this year. The responsibility of the blasts was claimed by an organization called "The Base Movement" in its propaganda material left behind in pen drives and pamphlets at the scene of the crimes at Nellore and Malappuram court premises. of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) terrorist group in the area.

The local security officials said at least 30 holy warriors of the terror group were killed in the operations, including the shadow judge of the terror group.

However,
the difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits...
the Ministry of Defense (MoD), in a statement said Monday that 44 holy warriors of the terror group were killed along with the shadow judge.

The operations in Pacher Agam were launched amid concerns that the loyalists of the terror group are attempting to move towards the Tora Bora mountainous region in a bid to fortify their presence in the region.

The deputy house speaker of the Afghan Parliament Zahir Qadir earlier warned that serious efforts are underway by the loyalists of the terror group to establish the Khurasan Caliphate.

The operations have apparently been launched following Qadir’s comments after he alleged that the loyalists of the terror group have seized several strategic points in Pacher Agam which is close to Tora Bora.

Africa North
Libyan general Khalifa Haftar meets Russian minister to seek help
Khalifa Haftar, the military commander of Libya’s eastern government, has met Russian foreign minister Sergei Lavrov and said he was seeking Moscow’s help in his fight against Islamic militants at home.
Apparently he's been paying attention to Syria: who helps who and who stands by whom...
Haftar, on his second visit to Moscow since the summer, requested military support from the Kremlin in September, according to Russian media. It was unclear on Tuesday if such help would be forthcoming.
The UN still maintains an arms ban on Libya but I think Russia can be flexible about that...
“Our relations are crucial, our goal today is to give life to these relations,” the TASS news agency quoted Haftar as saying at the start of talks with Lavrov. “We hope we will eliminate terrorism with your help in the nearest future.”

Haftar, who is aligned with the eastern parliament and government based in Tobruk, has been fighting a two-year military campaign with his Libyan National Army against
...pretty much everyone else...
Islamic extremists and other opponents in Benghazi and elsewhere in the east.

Haftar told Lavrov he had met Russian defence minister Sergei Shoigu on Monday to tell him about his military needs. Haftar has received public backing from Egypt and the United Arab Emirates, and France sent special forces to work alongside Haftar’s Libyan National Army earlier this year. Recent military advances by Haftar’s forces have boosted his popularity at home.
Popularity doesn't pay the bills, and oil prices are low.
A UN arms embargo in place since 2011 prohibits the transfer of weapons into Libya. Only the country’s UN-backed government in Tripoli, which Haftar opposes, can bring in weapons and related material with the approval of a UN Security Council committee.

When asked, the Kremlin did not say whether it might offer Haftar any military support, describing the talks with him as business as usual.

“Moscow is in touch with various Libyan representatives and contacts with Haftar take place as part of this process,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Tuesday.

Haftar’s allies have previously cultivated ties with Russia, which printed banknotes for an eastern breakaway branch of Libya’s central bank. “We spoke in general,” Haftar told reporters after the talks with Lavrov.

“We explained our position with regards to arms supplies. As a great country, Russia respects the arms embargo until it indicates it is an unjust verdict.“

Russian president Vladimir Putin has blamed the west for pursuing policies that he said led to civil wars in Libya and Syria. Russia launched a military operation to support Syrian president Bashar al-Assad last year.

Ohio State University attacker a Muslim student angry at US 'interference'
[DAWN] A university student whose family immigrated from Somalia rammed his car Monday into a crowd at Ohio State University and attacked them with a butcher knife, injuring 11 before police fatally shot him.

Identifying the assailant as Abdul Razak Ali Artan, officials in the northern US state said he appeared to have acted alone in what was being investigated as a possible terror attack.

He also appears to have made an anti-US posting on Facebook minutes before the attack, on a page that was quickly disabled or taken down by authorities, US media said.

"I can't take it any more. America! Stop interfering with other countries, especially the Moslem Ummah. We are not weak. We are not weak, remember that," the post quoted by ABC television said, using a term referring to the global community of Moslems.

"If you want us Moslems to stop carrying lone wolf attacks, then make peace," the post reads. "We will not let you sleep unless you give peace to the Moslems."

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Russia should foot Syria reconstruction bill, sez Euro leaders
European leaders, notably the French, are privately warning Vladimir Putin that if he permits Syria’s president, Bashar al-Assad, to turn an expected capture of Aleppo into a military victory across most of the country, it will be up to Russia to foot the bill for reconstruction.
That is so extraordinarily funny and blindingly stupid that it must have come from a Benny Hill sketch...
“What Russia breaks is what Moscow will have to fix,” said one western diplomat, adding that the EU in reality was the only player with the resources to restore the fabric and infrastructure of a country torn apart by a five-year-long civil war.

Estimates of the cost of reconstructing Syria range from a World Bank projection of $180bn, made in April, to far larger sums. Russian reports have suggested Putin wants to internationalise a kind of Marshall plan for Syria, with responsibility shared between the EU, Saudi Arabia, Iran and China.
Sure. The Saudis have no money now that oil prices have cratered. Iran has money but wants to spend it on their military, revolutionary guard, and nuclear weapons. China doesn't give away anything. Hmmm, who's the pigeon at this card game?
But western diplomats have made clear the EU will not sign any cheques for a country run by a man accused of multiple war crimes and the mass murder of his citizens. As they run out of cards to play, they admit their chief leverage with Russia may be the cost of reconstruction.
I don't think Russia is too worried about leaving Syria in ruins so long as Pencilneck has his spending allowance...
The warnings to Moscow play into the desperate diplomatic efforts still under way to try to end the humanitarian catastrophe unfolding at speed in Aleppo. The UN’s special envoy to Syria, Staffan De Mistura, warned on Tuesday: “Clearly, I cannot deny - this is a military acceleration and I can’t tell you how long eastern Aleppo will last.”

France and Britain have called for another meeting of the UN security council in New York, with the French foreign minister, Jean-Marc Ayrault, saying he would press for a UN resolution to punish the use of chemical weapons in Syria. Ayrault said on Tuesday a way had to be found to prevent Syrian government forces and their allies from carrying out one of the “biggest massacres on a civilian population since [the second world war]”. “This [security council] meeting would have to find a way to deal with the humanitarian situation and see how we can get aid in. We have to find a way,” he told Reuters.

Among the proposals being discussed behind the scenes is the possibility that diplomats from a range of countries could accompany a humanitarian convoy into Aleppo. A similar exercise occurred in the Bosnian capital of Sarajevo when it was under siege in the mid-1990s.
Sure. Just not American diplomats...
Paris has a high-level ministerial meeting planned for December bringing together foreign ministers of countries supporting the moderate Syrian opposition, including the US and Britain, as well as Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and Jordan.

But, aside from the bid to sanction Syria for the use of chemical weapons, no obvious new diplomatic initiative is emerging.

There is in private growing recognition that it might not take Assad and supporting forces much longer now to take Aleppo, and then to capture Idlib, which would then be the main remaining opposition-held town. The scale of Iranian artillery and the Russian air cover combine to represent overwhelming odds.

But western diplomats are warning Russia that even if Aleppo fell and the trade route to the south reopened, the Syrian rebellion would turn from a war of territory into an insurgency – in essence a guerrilla campaign conducted with arms supplied by the rebels’ sponsors such as Saudi Arabia. The prospect is that there will be a low-level civil war continuing for years, as it did in Lebanon.
That's just the kind of conflict that Pencilneck is really good at conducting...
The Syrian foreign minister, Walid al-Muallem, in Moscow this week promised that Russian companies could receive priority in the allocation of contracts for the restoration. But Moscow, wary of the bills, and anyway short of cash due to the depressed oil price, is understood to have declined the offer.

The Russian leader’s reluctance to own the peace may give the EU an opening it has lacked in the latter days of the war, diplomats say.
To be suckers...

And the French can't enforce anything, that, in general, is what France is all about.

That does appear to be why the French and EU demands are a joke.

Human Catastrophe has a nice ring to it don't you think? Moslems, mostly. A LOT of dead Moslems at the bottom of that hole. No one is going to rebuild Syria. Its a hole. Fill it with dead Moslems. Popcorn sounds good.

Boko Haram reportedly on rampage near site of girls' abduction
[CBSNEWS] Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
fighters are overrunning villages near the northeastern Nigerian town of Chibok, forcing hundreds of people to flee as the Death Eaters loot and burn in the area where nearly 300 schoolgirls were kidnapped in 2014, local leaders said Tuesday.

"Chibok is now under Boko Haram siege," the chairman of the Chibok local government area, Yaga Yarkawa, told journalists Tuesday in Maiduguri, the birthplace of Nigeria’s homegrown Islamic Death Eater group some 80 miles northeast of Chibok.

The accounts of Boko Haram violence around Chibok, along with multiple suicide kabooms in Maiduguri city and attacks on army outposts raise doubts about military and government claims that the 7-year-old insurgency is nearly defeated. Instead, the rebels have stepped up attacks as the rainy season draws to an end, making them more mobile.

Nine villages within 16 miles of Chibok town have been razed in the past two weeks with the most recent attack at Thlaimaklama at the weekend, Yarkawa said.

Boko Haram is employing scorched earth tactics, rustling livestock, looting crops just ready to harvest, and burning homes and what crops they cannot carry, he said. "Contrary to claims by government and security operatives, Chibok is not safe."

It’s not known if anyone has been killed because people are too scared to go back to the deserted villages, civilian self-defense fighter Bulama Abogu said. No soldiers have intervened, he said.

Many of the villages fringe on the Sambisa Forest, where Nigerian security forces have been carrying out near-daily air bombardments and ground attacks in which they have freed thousands of Boko Haram captives and cut food supplies.

Podesta Group Admits Undisclosed Foreign Government Advocacy
[FREEBEACON] A high-powered Democratic lobbying firm has admitted to the Department of Justice that it failed to file legally required disclosures of White House advocacy on behalf of a foreign government, new federal filings show.

The Podesta Group this month amended two biannual lobbying disclosure forms from 2014 and 2015
Amended, are they? Boy howdy, how did it ever come to pass that the filing deadline for the amendments was just after the election?

The amended disclosures came after the Washington Free Beacon reported on the Podesta Group’s apparent violations of the Foreign Agents Registration Act, which requires foreign government lobbyists to disclose contacts they made with government officials and news media on behalf of their clients.

The foreign government advocacy in question was undertaken on behalf of the government of India, a Podesta Group client since 2010.
Could have been worse -- could have been Pakistain...
On August 4, 2014, the Podesta brothers met with the Indian ambassador to the United States in the White House, visitor logs show. At the time, John was a senior counselor to the president. His "portfolio" of work there included issues pertaining to India.

A few months later, on Jan. 1, 2015, Tony emailed John inviting him to an event featuring the Indian ambassador, according to emails posted by WikiLeaks after hackers believed to be acting on behalf of the Russian government breached John’s account.

The meeting and the emails should have been disclosed in the Podesta Group’s original "supplemental" disclosure statements, Craig Engle, a partner at the Washington, D.C.-based law firm Arent Fox, told the Free Beacon at the time. But the firm’s supplemental statements did not mention either.

"Primary motive for the killings appeared to be sectarian," he said.

Earlier, the CTD police registered an FIR of the killing of DSP Shigri against unidentified suspects on the complaint of the maimed policeman, Abdul Rasheed, who was driving the official car of the officer.

Just over an hour before DSP Shigri’s murder, the same suspects had killed the trader belonging to the Ahmadi community, Sheikh Sajid Mahmud, 55, near his home in Kaneez Fatima Society, Gulzar-e-Hijri. "Sheikh Mahmud, who dealt in spare parts for flour mills, was killed for his faith," said the spokesperson of the Jamaat Ahmadiyya, Saleemuddin, in a statement on Monday.

The murder of a third Ahmadi man in the same neighbourhood this year indicated "a planned action against the Ahmadis", he said, recalling that Daud Ahmad and Chaudhry Khaleeq were rubbed out in the same vicinity on May 25 and June 20, respectively.

He expressed the concern that violence and social boycott were preached against the Ahmadis while the authorities let this happen despite the fact that hate propaganda was apparently banned under National Action Plan.

Mosul Offensive News
8 Civilians die in October Mosul airstrike

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) An airstrike targeting a medical unit supposedly occupied by Islamic State militants in the Mosul district of Hammam al-Alil last October killed eight civilians, according to Human Rights Watch, which urged air forces engaged in battles against the group to ensure civilians’ safety.

“On October 18, without warning, an airstrike hit the local clinic in the town of Hammam al-Alil, 30 kilometers southeast of Mosul, which was under ISIS control, according to a United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs official, three healthcare workers, and a local official,” the organization said on Tuesday. “The healthcare workers said that the attack, at about 9:30 a.m., killed at least eight civilians, including five children, and wounded at least two more,” it added.

It quoted one health worker saying that 50 people were inside the clinic at the time of the air raid.

Iraqi and US-led international air forces have been waging airstrikes against ISIS in Mosul since operations kicked off mid October to recapture the city from the extremist group. But civilians stranded in the middle of fighting, many of whom are reportedly held as potential human shields, slow down the progress of security operations, according to Iraqi government and volunteer militias commanders.

“ISIS fighters’ despicable positioning inside a protected health facility south of Mosul put civilians, including patients, at risk and needs to stop immediately,” said Lama Fakih, deputy Middle East director at Human Rights Watch. “Forces attacking ISIS should take all necessary measures to minimize harm to civilians, including those that ISIS forces may have placed at risk.”

Iraqi militia destroys ISIS convoy near Mosul

Nineveh (IraqiNews.com) Saraya al-Jihad announced on Tuesday that its forces managed to destroy a convoy belonging to the Islamic State extremist group, in western Mosul.

Saraya al-Jihad said in a brief statement, “Our forces managed to repulse the attack of a convoy of eight vehicles belonging to the Islamic State terrorist group in Halawa area, near Tel Afar,” pointing out that, “The convoy was hit using Jihad-3 rockets and destructed completely,” the statement added.

Joint security forces backed by Army Aviation and international coalition forces continue exercising efforts to retake the city of Mosul from the ISIS grip, within the offensive that was launched on October 2016, after the announcement of General Commander of Armed Forces Haider al-Abadi.

9 ISIS fighters die in sniper attacks

Nineveh (IraqiNews.com) Federal Police Command announced killing nine members of the Islamic State extremist group by its snipers’ fire, south of Mosul.

Federal Police Chief, Raed Shakir Jawdat, said in a press statement, “Today, Federal Police’s snipers regiment killed nine members of the Islamic State group in the outskirt of Umm al-Masa’id village.”

“Security forces also discovered a cache of weapons containing 6 improvised explosive devices, 134 mortar missiles, 11 rockets and 32 RBG missiles, west of Hamam al-Alil,” Jawdat added.

The Beatings Will Continue: Iraqi Edition

Mosul residents' difficulty finding food

(Reuters) The United Nations said on Tuesday there were indications that poorer families in Mosul are struggling to feed themselves as food prices increase following the U.S.-backed offensive on the Islamic State-held city in northern Iraq.

“Key informants are telling us that poor families are struggling to put sufficient food on their tables,” U.N Humanitarian Coordinator in Iraq, Lise Grande, told Reuters. “This is very worrying.”

Iraqi government and Kurdish forces surround the city from the north, east and south, while Popular Mobilisation forces – a coalition of Iranian-backed Shi’ite groups – are trying to close in from the west. Last week the Popular Mobilisation forces cut off the supply route to Mosul from Islamic State-held territory in Syria.

“In a worst case, we envision that families who are already in trouble in Mosul will find themselves in even more acute need.” Grande said. “The longer it takes to liberate Mosul, the harder conditions become for families.”

Six weeks after the launch of the offensive, Iraqi forces moving from the east have captured about a quarter of the city, trying to advance to the Tigris river that runs through its center. A U.S.-led coalition is providing air and ground support to the offensive that started on Oct. 17.

ISIS kills residents who refuse to cooperate

GENEVA, Switzerland: Daesh militants in the Iraqi city of Mosul have killed civilians who refuse to allow rockets and snipers to be sited in their houses or whom they suspect of leaking information or trying to flee, a UN human rights spokeswoman said on Tuesday.

“On Nov. 11, ISIL (Daesh) reportedly shot and killed 12 civilians in Bakir neighborhood of eastern Mosul city for allegedly refusing to let it install rockets on the rooftops of their houses,” Ravina Shamdasani told a regular UN briefing.

Information received by the UN also showed that militants publicly shot to death 27 civilians in Muhandiseen Park in northern Mosul on Nov. 25, and on Nov. 22 an Islamic State sniper killed a seven-year-old running toward the Iraqi Security Forces in Adan neighborhood in eastern Mosul.

ISIS detains shopkeepers who raised prices
Plus semi roundup of Mosul offensive news
ISIS has arrested dozens of Mosul shop owners accused of raising food prices in the nearly besieged city, to tamp down discontent as a US-backed offensive closes in on the group’s last major stronghold in Iraq, residents said on Monday.

The arrests took place on Sunday morning in Bursa, a commercial district in the western part of the city, said a witness who asked not be identified as ISIS punishes with death those caught communicating with the outside world.

About 30 shop owners in the area were arrested and taken away blindfolded to unknown destinations, he said.

The Sunni hardline group is relentlessly cracking down on people who could help the biggest ground offensive in Iraq since the US-led invasion that toppled Saddam Hussein in 2003.

Most of the people executed previously in Mosul were former police and army officers, suspected of disloyalty or plotting rebellions against the militants’ rule. The arrest of the shop owners is meant as a warning to retailers to refrain from price hikes that would cause unrest in the city.

Some 100,000 Iraqi government troops, Kurdish security forces and mainly Shiite militiamen are participating in the assault on Mosul, with air and ground support from a US-led international military coalition.

Six weeks into the campaign, troops have so far entered about a quarter of the city on its eastern outskirts, but are moving slowly to avoid civilian casualties and have yet to enter the half of the city on the west bank of the Tigris River.

More than a million people are still believed to live in parts of Mosul under the control of the fighters, who seized the largest city in northern Iraq as part of a lightning advance across a third of the country in 2014.

Retail prices rose in Mosul last week after Popular Mobilization, a force of mainly Iranian-backed pro-government Shiite paramilitaries, cut the road linking the Iraqi and Syrian parts of the “caliphate”, Mosul’s main supply route.

The Shiite groups are attacking militants deployed between Mosul and Tal Afar, 60 kilometers (40 miles) to the west, trying to complete Mosul’s encirclement, with the army and Kurdish security forces controlling access from the other three sides.

ASWJ chief allowed to contest Jhang by-election
[DAWN] LAHORE: A full bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday allowed Maulana Mohammed Ahmad Ludhianvi, emir of the banned Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat
...which is the false nose and plastic mustache of the murderous banned extremist group Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistain, whatcha might call the political wing of Lashkar-e-Jhangvi...
(ASWJ), to contest by-election from PP-78 (Jhang).

The bench headed by Justice Shahid Jamil Khan issued the interim order on a petition of Mr Ludhianvi challenging a decision of a two-judge bench that had disqualified him from contesting the by-poll.

Extending the interim relief to Mr Ludhianvi on the grounds to be announced later, the bench issued notices to the respondents of the case and fixed Dec 14 for further hearing.

The Punjab
1.) Little Orphan Annie's bodyguard
2.) A province of Pakistain ruled by one of the Sharif brothers
3.) A province of India. It is majority (60 percent) Sikh and Hindoo (37 percent), which means it has relatively few Moslem riots....

Assembly’s constituency had fallen vacant after the Supreme Court disqualified Rashida Yaqoob of the Pakistain Moslem League-N (PML-N) for concealing assets while upholding a decision of an election tribunal in October. She was elected to the assembly in the 2013 general elections and runner-up candidate Mr Ludhianvi had challenged her election.

Then the Election Commission of Pakistain (ECP) announced that it would hold by-poll in the constituency on Dec 1 for which Mr Ludhianvi as well as Ms Yaqoob also filed their nomination papers. However,
a woman is only as old as she admits...
this time Ms Yaqoob was an independent candidate.

The PML-N gave its ticket to Sheikh Sheraz Akram. On a petition filed by him, the two-judge bench on Nov 11 restrained both Ms Yaqoob and Mr Ludhianvi from contesting the by-poll.

Mr Akram had argued that the name of Mr Ludhianvi was included in a list of fourth-schedule and more than a dozen criminal cases were registered against him.

He had also pointed out discrepancy in details of the assets provided by Mr Ludhianvi to the ECP in connection with the 2013 general elections and the upcoming by-poll.

At a later stage, Mr Akram withdrew his candidature and was replaced by Haji Azad Nasir Ansari as PML-N candidate.

Mr Ludhianvi had challenged the decision contending that FIRs registered against him were not in his knowledge when he filed his nomination papers. He had requested the court to allow him to contest the by-poll and set aside the two-judge bench’s decision.

German intelligence officer 'arrested over Islamist plot' raising fears the spy agency has been infilitrated
[Telegraph] A German intelligence officer has reportedly been arrested over a suspected Islamist plot to bomb the agency's headquarters in Cologne.

The 51-year-old official was said to have made a "partial confession" to the plot, according to Der Spiegel.

The suspect attempted to pass on "sensitive information about the BfV (Germany's domestic security agency), which could lead to a threat to the office", an official told the newspaper.

"He is accused of making Islamist remarks online under a false name, and offering internal information during chats," a BfV spokesman said.

The BfV said the man "behaved inconspicuously" prior to his arrest. He had, since April, been engaged in gathering intelligence on Islamist extremists in Germany, Der Spiegel said.

The man's family reportedly knew nothing of his conversion to Islam two years ago and subsequent radicalisation.
Online chats were apparently found between the suspect and other Islamists in which he attempted to recruit them to the intelligence agency to mount an attack on "non-believers", carrying out a bomb attack on the spy HQ "in the name of Allah".

He used several different names online and his activities were uncovered about a month ago.

The man's family reportedly knew nothing of his conversion to Islam two years ago and subsequent radicalisation.

The suspect was thought to have pledged of allegiance to Mohamed Mahmoud, the Austrain leader of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant terrorist group.

Germany is on high alert following several terror attacks over the summer.

The BfV estimates there are about 40,000 Islamists in Germany, including 9,200 ultra-conservative Islamists known as Salafists, Hans-Georg Maassen, who leads the agency, told Reuters in an interview earlier this month.

"We remain a target of Islamic terrorism and we have to assume that Islamic State or other terrorist organisations will carry out an attack in Germany if they can," he said at the time.
Update from the Washington Post at 3:10 p.m. ET -- the tale grows lurid with previously unnoticed details:
The German citizen of Spanish descent confessed to secretly converting to Islam in 2014. From there, his story took a stranger turn. Officials ran a check on the online alias he assumed in radical chat rooms. The married father of four had used it before — as recently as 2011 — as his stage name for acting in gay pornographic films.

One senior BfV official, who discussed the matter on the condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the media defended the agency, said it was virtually impossible to protect against a breach like this.

“How should anyone have known this? He had acted under different names and identities online,” he said. “Not his real name. One has to say that we were able to find out about all this very quickly and also actions were taken fast.”

Officials were withholding the name of the 51-year old, as well as the alias he used as a porn actor and in chat rooms. Before he was hired in April, officials insist, he was thoroughly vetted. They said they had interviewed former employers and others who knew him.

Catholic Charities Resettled Muslim Who Waged Jihad at Ohio State Univ
It was June 5, 2014 when a young teenager named Abul Razak Ali Artan arrived in Dallas with his mother and six siblings. A little more than two years before he was the suspect in a violent knife attack on the Ohio State campus.

'We gave them aid and comfort and some shelter as part of the government resettlement program,' explained Catholic Charities C.E.O. Dave Woodyard.

The Somali immigrants arrived from Pakistan at D/FW International Airport via JFK International Airport. Catholic Charities says someone from the organization likely picked the family up from the airport when they arrived.

According to Catholic Charities of Dallas records, the family was in temporary housing in Dallas for 23 days, leaving June 28, 2014.

'Then they emigrated. Left, and moved onto Columbus, Ohio,' Woodyard said. 'And that’s when we closed our file.'

Woodyard said that file will now be shared with the Columbus Police Department in its investigation of Monday’s attack.

Woodyard points out that refugees are vetted by the U.S. Department of State before they arrive in the United States and that organizations like Catholic Charities are there to help them assimilate and start new lives."

Two Army Majors, 5 jawans, 6 terrorists killed
[Daily Excelsior] Seven Army soldiers including two Majors and six gunnies were killed while eight BSF and police personnel including DIG BSF BS Kasana were maimed in twin terror attacks at an Army camp in Nagrota and unsuccessful infiltration attempt at Ramgarh in Samba sector today. While operation at Samba was over by this afternoon, it was temporary halted tonight at Nagrota but cordon was maintained and will resume with the onset of dawn tomorrow as Army didn’t rule out presence of more gunnies inside the camp.

The attack on 166 Artillery Unit of the Army, just about three kilometers from 16 Corps Headquarters at Nagrota, was the first major after September 18 Uri terror attack in which 20 Army jawans were martyred. The twin attacks came within a day after the naming of Qamar Javed Bajwa as new army chief of Pakistain in place of Raheel Sharief, who will hang up his boots on November 30.

Defence spokesperson Lt Col Manish Mehta told news hounds at Nagrota late this evening that seven Army soldiers including two officers have been martyred in the terrorist attack inside Nagrota Army camp. He said that three Lions of Islam have been killed so far but the operation was not over yet indicating that there could be one or two more gunnies inside the camp.

Iraq
Iraqi forces capture 2 villages in Salahuddin
Salahuddin (IraqiNews.com) Army forces liberated two villages east of the Tigris River at Salahuddin province from Islamic State militants on Tuesday, military media said.

The Salahuddin Operations troops liberated on Tuesday the villages of Shayyal al-Abli and Shayyal al-Imam in Sharqat, the War Media Cell reported, adding that the troops raised the Iraqi flags in the region.

Iraqi government forces, backed by tribal militias, are in daily operations to liberate regions occupied by the Islamic Stat militants since 2014, when the group proclaimed an Islamic caliphate in the country.

Earlier in the same day, the Salahuddin Operations media officer, Mohamed al-Assadi, said the forces recaptured the village of Kan’ous, at the same region. He revealed that the forces will move forward to the southwards to liberate the whole of the eastern region of Sharqat.

The Tuesday operations in Salahuddin come one day after an ISIS attack on a checkpoint in Samarra left five police officers dead and prompted a curfew in the area.

The greater focus is currently on the city of Mosul, Nineveh, where Iraqi government and paramilitary forces, backed by US-international coalition aircrafts, continue a major campaign launched in October to retake the city from ISIS who previously referred to it as the capital of their ‘Islamic Caliphate”.

Somalia’s Presidential Election Postponed for Third Time
But I think we all saw this coming...
Somalia’s presidential elections, scheduled to begin this week, have been postponed for a third time, the electoral body said Monday.

Omar Mohamed Abdulle, head of Somalia’s electoral body, said elections slated for Wednesday will not happen as planned. Abdulle did not offer a new date, but said the next president will be elected before the end of this year.

Somalia’s parliament members will elect the new president. However, parliamentary elections to elect new lawmakers have not been completed in all regions of the country. The parliamentary voting was marred by irregularities and corruption, and Somalia’s electoral body is investigating allegations of election malpractice.
Paging Dr. Jill Stein...
Somalia’s auditor general, Nur Jimale Farah, told VOA’s Somali service earlier this month that some of the parliamentary seats were bought by the highest bidder.

“Some votes were bought with $5,000, some with $10,000, and some with $20,000 or $30,000. But not all seats are equal. Some are influential seats and have a lot of candidates competing for them,” he said.
Capitalism at work!
Somalia is using a limited voting system in which about 14,000 delegates representing Somalia’s clans are casting their votes for the 275-member Lower House, while regional parliaments are electing the 54-member Upper House.

Somali officials had promised citizens a one-person, one-vote one time election; however, political infighting and insecurity in the country led them to drop the plan.

Incumbent President Hassan Sheikh Mohamoud is among dozens of candidates vying for the post of president, which will be determined by the new lawmakers.

3 UN employees abducted in west Darfur
The government of the state of West Darfur said that efforts to free employees of the United Nations Refugee Agency are being made. It also promised to announce the fruits of its efforts to release the three UNHCR staff that were kidnapped by an unidentified group whilst returning from a mission outside the town of Geneina.

The government spokesman Abdallah Mustafa Jarelnabi who is also the Minister of Culture and Media told Asharq Al-Awsat that the security authorities are diligently following the case of the kidnapped employees, and promised to announce the efforts that are being made by the authorities and the state’s government to release the abductees.

An unknown group kidnapped the three staff employed by the UNHCR’s offices in Geneina, the capital of West Darfur. The abductees included two foreigners and they were abducted from an area near the UNHCR offices whilst returning from a mission outside Geneina on Sunday afternoon.

In a statement that he made, a spokesman for the state’s government revealed the identities of the abductees and said that two of them were foreign and one of them was Sudanese. He said that they were abducted by an unidentified group after they got out of a car and that the group drove them to a place that remains unknown.

According to Jarelnabi, the government has made the necessary security arrangements to track down and find the kidnappers and set the hostages free as soon as possible. He told the newspaper “We will reveal new information within hours” and indicated that they were close to identifying the kidnappers, based on his government’s experience of dealing with such incidents.

Ellison, now a leading candidate to head the Democratic National Committee, was brought to Saudi Arabia for a two-week trip by the Moslem American Society (MAS), a group founded by members of the Moslem Brüderbund to act as its "overt arm" in the United States.

Details of Ellison’s religious pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia are scarce, but photographs discovered by the Washington Free Beacon show that Ellison met with controversial figures during the trip.

A photo album of Ellison’s hajj trip posted by MAS’s Minnesota chapter includes a picture of the congressman meeting with Sheikh Abdallah Bin Bayyah, who was vice president of a Moslem Brüderbund-created group that in 2004 issued a fatwa urging "jihad" against U.S. troops in Iraq and supported the Paleostinians’ Second Intifada against Israel.

Dutch parliament approves partial ban on burqa and niqabs
[Dhaka Tribune] Dutch MPs on Tuesday voted by a large majority to approve a ban on wearing the Islamic full-face burqa in some public places such as schools and hospitals.

"The law is adopted," said the speaker of the Dutch Lower House of parliament, Khadija Arib, referring to the move which would also ban burqas from public transport.

The motion was approved by a majority of 132 out of the 150-seat house including Prime Minister Mark Rutte’s ruling Liberal-Labour coalition.

The legislation must now go before the Senate for approval before becoming law.
Here's hoping it passes.
It follows similar bans imposed in La Belle France and Belgium.

The Dutch cabinet had approved the plan in mid-2015. But it decided not to go as afar as banning wearing burqas on the street.
So the ladies, real and pretend, can cover their faces until they walk into a school or hospital. Snatch'n'grab shop robberies will no doubt continue as before.
The Dutch government said it decided to back the legislation due to a "necessity to be able to interact face-to-face, for instance in places where public services are performed and safety must be guaranteed."

"The government sees no need to impose the ban on all public spaces," it added.

Wearing safety equipment like helmets or full-face protection while working, playing sport or "during a festive or cultural event" is excluded from the ban.

Those flouting the ban would face a fine of up to 410 euros (around $430).

Public newscaster NOS said only between 100 to 500 women in The Netherlands wear the burqa, most of them occasionally.

The Dutch government’s advisory State Council body had however said it believed issues around the Islamic veil could be solved "without invoking legislation".

"From time-to-time there’s discussion about it... but it’s not really a big social problem," it said in a letter published in mid-2015.

On the downside, he has a roving eye and a loose fly, he's opinionated, and he's abrasive despite his ability to work with the other side of the political aisle...
blasted Jill Stein's efforts to get a recount in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Michigan.

He pointed out that there's not a single state in the country where a recount would change the election outcome and hand the White House to Hillary Clinton
... former first lady, former secretary of state, former presidential candidate, sometimes described by her supporters as the smartest woman in the world, usually described by the rest of us as a crook...
"Jill Stein represents sort of the nut wing of American politics," he said. "When the left loses as badly as they have at every level - from local state legislature to governor to Congress to the presidency - you begin to get this sort of nut fringe showing up."

#2  But is it a nut fringe when the main stream politicians like Hillary and the media are all helping out and cheering them on to try and cripple the President-elect in any way possible?

Personally I think it is more a fifth column effort myself.

#3  Jill Stein was a Strawman put up by the Democrats to control the far left vote. I have no doubt if Stein won any electoral votes they'd have gone Hillary when the time came.

The collapse of the Aleppo pocket - an analysis
[LiveLeak] From Oz Analysis: At this point, the only thing that will delay the liberation of East Aleppo is that the foreign islamoterrorists (mostly turkish tools) have no incentive to give up. So, expect some islamoterrorist-on-islamoterrorist warfare as the Syrian ones fight the foreign ones. As always, pity the civilians caught in the middle, though by now it is clear that the count of such civilians bandied around by the UN and the MSM is but a fantasy, exaggerated perhaps five-fold to excuse the US-turkish-saudi-qatari axis of terrorist support.

Boko Haram Refugees Find No Shelter in Remote Northern Cameroon
[VOA News] The U.N. refugee agency reports that thousands of Nigerian refugees massed along a remote border area in northern Cameroon
...a long, narrow country that fills the space between Nigeria and Chad on the northeast, CAR to the southeast. Prior to incursions by Boko Haram nothing ever happened there...
are living in dire conditions, with little in the way of shelter and basic necessities.

Prevailing insecurity makes Cameroon’s isolated Far North Region generally out-of-bounds for aid workers. But, a rare break in the threatening environment made it possible for staff from the U.N. refugee agency to go there earlier this month and assess the situation.

UNHCR front man Leo Dobbs tells VOA the refugees, mostly women and kiddies, are living in abysmal conditions and remain under threat of attack by Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
hard boys.

"Some staying with destitute host families, but most sleeping in the open under the trees, makeshift shelters or on the dirt floors of schools," Dobbs said. "Others were in abandoned villages whose residents had fled Boko Haram attacks earlier. A number of families were separated while crossing into Cameroon."

Dobbs says the refugees are almost entirely dependent on the local community, which is itself poor. He says people lack health care and sanitation, safe drinking water and other basic services.

76 dead as plane carrying Brazilian footballers crashes in Colombia
[DAWN] The corpse count from the crash in Colombia of an airliner carrying 81 people, including a Brazilian football team, rose to 76 Tuesday as officials said at least six people survived the disaster.

"Six people were rescued alive, but unfortunately one died. The rest of the occupants unfortunately died. The tragic toll is 76 victims," Jose Gerardo Acevedo, regional police commander, told journalists earlier.

Colombia's disaster risk management agency said they later rescued a sixth survivor of the crash, player Helio Hermito Zampier Neto, who is in the process of being evacuated.

"The possibility that other people will be found alive has not been ruled out," the agency said.

"It appears that the plane ran out of fuel," Elkin Ospina, the mayor of the nearby town of La Ceja, told AFP. He said authorities were on the scene and hospitals and medical centres were preparing to receive the injured.

Man kills niece, nephew in karo-kari incident
[DAWN] A suspect allegedly shot dead his niece Anila,18, and his nephew Jaffar Lashari,19, over the pretext of honour in Zahid Bambhar village area of Khairpur Mirs district.

An official of Pir Wasan police station, while talking to DawnNews, informed that the suspect has been arrested by the police.

However, an FIR was not registered with the police till the filing of this report.

It is pertinent to mention that FIRs in honour killing cases are registered on behalf of the state after a joint session of the Parliament unanimously approved anti-honour killing and anti-rape bills

In July, days after the 'honour' killing of social media celebrity Qandeel Baloch, a committee comprising lawmakers from both the lower and upper houses of parliament unanimously approved two bills aimed at tackling 'honour' killings and boosting rape convictions.

The perpetrators of honour killings – in which the victim, normally a woman, is killed by a relative – often walk free because they can seek forgiveness for the crime from another family member.

5 Kurds die in Raqqa fighting
Raqqa – At least five Kurdish fighters were killed in renewed clashes with Islamic State’s (ISIS) militants north of Raqqa city, in northeastern Syria, military sources reported on Tuesday.

The Kurdish YPG leadership confirmed in a statement the death of five of their fighters in the northern suburb of Raqqa–the de facto capital of the ISIS’ self-proclaimed Caliphate.

“Three fighters from the People’s protection Units (YPG) and two female fighters from the Women’s Protection Units (YPJ) lost their lives while fighting ISIS terrorists in the battle for Raqqa,” the Kurdish leadership said in a statement to ARA News.

Roughly three weeks ago, the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces launched the Euphrates Wrath Operation, with support from the US-led coalition. The operation’s long-term objective is the isolation and elimination of the Islamic State in Raqqa.

During the first phase of Euphrates Wrath, SDF soldiers captured an area measuring approximately 560 km2, containing dozens of towns, villages and farms. Military sources told ARA News that more than 185 ISIS jihadists have been killed since November 6.

The Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG), Women’s Protection Units (YPJ), Syriac Military Council, Raqqa Revolutionaries Battalion and Tel Abyad Revolutionary Brigade are participating in Euphrates Wrath. In addition to these local fighters, foreign soldiers from a half-dozen nations are participating, either as YPG volunteers or under the auspices of the US-led coalition.

Iraq
18 ISIS Turbans die in airstrike in Kirkuk
Kirkuk (IraqiNews.com) Eighteen Islamic State militants were killed late Monday when US-led international coalition fighter jets targeted their haven southwest of Kirkuk.

The strikes came in coordination with intelligence authorities, a security source told Alsumaria News on condition of anonymity.

ISIS is still in control of Kirkuk’s precincts of Hawija, al-Rashad, al-Abbasi, al-Zab and al-Riyadh, all launching points for its attacks on Salahuddin province and the outskirts of Kirkuk, according to the source.

ISIS is still waging attacks at Iraqi provinces which have largely become under security or popular troops’ control, but its most decisive battle is occurring in Mosul, its last strategic bastion in Iraq where government forces and volunteer militias celebrate daily victories over the group as part of a all-out operation launched in October.

Philippines bank linked to BB heist refuses to compensate Bangladesh
[Dhaka Tribune] The Rizal Commercial Banking Corp RCBC in the Philippines said it is not liable to compensate Bangladesh for the bank heist money deposited in its accounts and instead blamed the central bank in Dhaka for being "negligent" on Tuesday.

Unknown cyber criminals tried to steal nearly $1bn from the Bangladesh Bank in February, one of the biggest bank frauds ever.

They succeeded in transferring some $81m via an account at the New York Federal Reserve to four accounts in fake names at a branch of Rizal Commercial Banking Corp (RCBC) in Manila. Most of the money was laundered through casinos in Manila and remains missing.

RCBC external counsel Thea Daep urged Bangladesh Bank to be transparent and produce the results of its own investigation to shed light on who was behind the heist, saying it was the least Bangladesh Bank could do.

"RCBC is not the proximate cause of the theft. They have no case against us. BB (Bangladesh Bank) was the one who was negligent," Daep said in a statement, adding the local lender will not pay Bangladesh Bank anything.

Bangladesh Ambassador John Gomes was quoted in a newspaper as saying his government would seek compensation from RCBC. Gomes did not respond to request for comments.

Daep said RCBC received the funds after they went through three layers of highly protected financial institutions.

Hindu temples vandalised in Goalanda
[Dhaka Tribune] Panic of communal violence has gripped the Hindu community at Charkachorondo village in Goalanda upazila of Rajbari, as miscreants attacked five Hindu temples and vandalised 11 idols of Hindu gods and goddesses early yesterday.

The miscreants launched the attack sometime at night on temples owned by Shamor Sheel, Palon Karmakar, Montu Kumar Sheel, Partho Baran Das and Ratan Karmakar, said the victims.

The attackers demolished the idols of Hindu god Shiva and goddess Kali, they added.

Nirmal Kumur Chakrabarty, president of Bangladesh Hindu Budhhist and Christian Unity Council’s Goalanda chapter, termed the attack a shameful incident.

"The attack on the temples is not communal. It is a conspiracy. Here, Hindus and Moslems live together maintaining communal harmony," Nirmal said.

He demanded a proper investigation into the incident and exemplary punishment of the attackers.

Rajbari Superintendent of Police Salma Begum, Additional Police Super Tariqul Islam, Assistant Police Super (circle) Asaduzzaman Asad, Officer-in-Charge of Goalanda Ghat cop shoppe Mirza Abul Kalam Azad and Chairman of Goalanda Chhoto Bhakla Union Gay Pareehad Md Amzad Hossain visited the spot on Tuesday morning.

Migrants continued to cross the Mediterranean despite dangerous sea conditions: IOM
[Libya Herald] Moslem colonists Migrants continue to cross the Mediterranean from Libya in record numbers despite dangerous sea conditions and colder winter weather, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) says in its latest report published today.

The report states that 348,664 migrants colonists and refugees entered Europe by sea and there were 4,690 deaths at sea in 2016 up to 29 November.

The IOM report states that 171,731 people arrived in Greece and 171,299 in Italia during 2016. However,
we can't all be heroes. Somebody has to sit on the curb and applaud when they go by...
the total is well below the number of arrivals at this point in 2015, by which time some 883,393 migrants colonists and refugees had made the journey.

Yesterday alone, 1,413 migrants colonists were rescued during 13 operations carried out between Libya and Italia, bringing the total picked up since last weekend to 2,070. The migrants colonists were rescued in operations carried out by the Norwegian Siem Pilot, several Italian Coast Guard ships, the Italian Navy ships Borsini, Grecale and Fasan and other international rescue ships, the IOM reported.

"In November 2016, 11,872 arrivals were registered, compared to 3,219 in November 2015, and 9,295 in November 2014," said IOM Italia spokesperson Flavio Di Giacomo.

As of 28 November, Nigeria remains the top sending country with 35,716 migrants colonists arriving in Italia in 2016, followed by Eritrea
