BLM Anti-Trump Protest In Seattle: ‘We Need To Start Killing People'

#1  More of the lovely, racist bile:

She also says, “White people, give your fucking money, your fucking house, your fucking property, we need it fucking all,” as another protester responds “reparations!”

“Pay the fuck up, pay the fuck up. It ain’t just your fucking time, its your fucking money, and now your fucking life is devoted to social change,” she said.

Not only genocide but outright theft of all property not owned by the master race.

This shit is really getting old. Keep pushing this and you idiots will see how we make the grass grow.

You try, you die.

Trump Signs Executive Order to Curtail Regulations
h/t Instapundit
President Donald Trump on Monday signed an executive order aimed at slashing federal regulations to help businesses, the latest in a string of presidential directives he has unveiled in his first ten days in office.

The "one in, two out" plan requires federal agencies requesting new regulations to cut two existing regulations. Trump said the order will reduce the regulatory burdens on the private sector, particularly small businesses.

Israeli Left warns against ‘de-facto' annexation in Knesset vote
Approval of the Settlements Bill is tantamount to de-facto annexation, anti-Zionist Union party head MK Isaac Herzog warned on Monday afternoon.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told his faction meeting, "We plan to advance the legislation this week. It’s objective is to prevent [legal] deficiencies and attempts to harass settlements in Judea and Samaria."

1M Poms sign petition demanding DJT meeting with HMQ be cancelled
[STUFF NZ] Over a million people in Britain have signed a petition calling for US President Donald Trump's planned state visit to be cancelled to avoid embarrassing Queen Elizabeth, in a grassroots backlash against his immigration policies.

The invitation to make a state visit, which will involve lavish displays of royal pageantry and a banquet hosted by the monarch, was conveyed by British Prime Minister Theresa May when she visited Trump in Washington last week.

The petition was started before May's trip, but gained traction after Trump issued an executive order barring Syrian refugees and suspending travel from seven Muslim-majority countries, sparking protests at home and abroad.

Downloading the JSON file they so helpfully provide, we see a 'signatures_by_country' category. Some crude math says about 48,000 voters from outside the UK. Thanks to people from the UAE, Hong Kong, Denmark and France for playing!

Give me a bit to gin up a script and we can get that total over a trillion - assuming we don't hit integer overflow along the way.

Daily Beast Editor: 'Non-Cosmopolitan Rural Voters For Trump are the Real Problem'
[LI] Message from MSNBC to you hicks out in the sticks: the people who gave us Le Pen, Brexit and now, Trump represent the "real problem." Unlike we city dwellers, you don’t "mix" and "get along together" with people from "cosmopolitan cultures."

That was the word from MSNBC contributor and Daily Beast Editor Christopher Dickey, speaking from Paris with Joy Reid today. Discussing the hold that President Trump has placed on immigration from seven named countries, Dickey began by claiming that people in Europe, especially in European governments, "think Trump has lost his mind."

Then there was the obligatory Hitler allusion: in Europe "they remember what fascism was like. In the United States, we’ve been spared that--at least up until now."

Then came the pièce de résistance--Dickey’s swipe at the great rural unwashed: "the voters who cast their ballots for Marine Le Pen, for Brexit, for Donald Trump, they’re not the people who are part of those cities, those cosmopolitan cultures where people mix and get along together. That is the real problem. That’s the divide we need to watch."

Reid was quick to agree: "yeah, absolutely."

#6  ...where people mix and get along together

Sounds like regular people in any rural area and small to mid-sized town/city in middle America. We mix and get along together because it's our way of life. Most folks just want to feed, cloth and house their families and know that their neighbors want to do the same.

It shouldn't really be that difficult to understand.

We don't have ghettos or slums in which to hide the 'undesirables' from our view, so we really can't relate to what you're saying there Mr. Dickey.

California may soon have 3rd gender option on state ID's
[LI] California lawmakers have dived deeper in the pool of progressivism, apparently to swim away from the red states responsible for the election of Donald Trump as President.

Between bitterly threatening to build our own satellites and clinging to sanctuary city policies, state lawmakers are now weighing a fun, new revision to state identification cards: A third gender option.

State Sen. Toni Atkins’ bill would add a non-binary gender marker option for driver’s licenses, birth certificates, identity cards and gender change court orders. The San Diego Democrat says SB 179 would also simplify the process for changing one’s gender on those documents.

...SB 179 would end the requirements that a person get a doctor’s sworn statement and appear in court even if no objections have been filed when petitioning to change their gender on official documents. The bill would also allow minors to apply for a gender change on their birth certificate.

California would be the first state in the nation to enact social justice rule-making related to gender identity.

"As a person who identifies as transgender and is non-binary, this piece of legislation is important to me on a personal level," [Jo Michael of Equality California] said during a press conference on the bill. "For the first time, Californians could have accurate gender markers that truly reflect who we are."

The federal government does not offer a third gender option for official documents such as passports. The issue drew national attention in November when a federal judge asked the U.S. State Department to reconsider its decision to deny a passport to a Colorado resident who does not identify as male or female.

What a bullshit statement. The CURRENT IDs already HAVE "accurate gender markers"--what THEY are seeking is complete and unscientific bullshit regarding their "feelings". Just make the third gender choice "special snowflake" and be done with it.

SAG Awards: Actors Rip Trump's Temporary Immigration Ban as Ceremony Turns Political
[Breitbart] Hollywood’s Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards quickly turned political Sunday night as presenters and winners repeatedly spoke out against President Donald Trump’s executive action this weekend to temporarily ban immigration from some countries. Ashton Kutcher opened up the show Sunday night with an enthusiastic pro-immigration message.

"Good evening fellow SAG-AFTRA members and everyone at home, and everyone in airports that belong in my America," Kutcher opened the show, to rapturous applause from the Hollywood stars in attendance.

"You are a part of the fabric of who we are, and we love you, and we welcome you," Kutcher added.

Detroit Free Press - 'Trump immigration proposals are a moral stain'
[Detroit Free Press] We knew this was coming. But that doesn't allay any of the moral stain associated with it.

The latest bend in Donald Trump's careening turn as the president of America is a long-promised brace of executive orders on immigration, signed by Trump on Wednesday: Trump has directed the Department of Homeland Security to begin work on a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border, a signature policy promise in his election campaign, strengthened Immigration and Customs Enforcement's efforts to deport illegal immigrants, and promised to strip federal grant money from "sanctuary cities" that offer safe harbor to illegal immigrants.

That's just Trump's latest. Already this week, the president has -- this list is by no means inclusive -- worked to hobble the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, stop U.S. funding to organizations abroad that counsel women about the option of abortion, withdrawn from the Trans Pacific Partnership, and peddled new falsehoods about voter fraud.

And it's only been five days. America's byzantine immigration system requires reform. But not like this.

Some Trump supporters had interpreted that campaign promise -- "build a wall" was a regular chant at Trump rallies -- as rhetoric symbolic of an uncompromising stance on immigration, rather than a literal wall.

Terror Networks
CIA: Islamic State finds success infiltrating its terrorists into refugee flows to West
[Wash Times] The Islamic State has planned to infect refugee flows to the West with mass killers, and it has had some violent successes.

The CIA said last year that the terrorist group’s official strategy is to hide its operatives among refugees entering Europe and the United States via human flows out of the Middle East and North Africa.

The Islamic State, also known as ISIL and ISIS, has inspired followers to commit atrocities in San Bernardino, California; Orlando, Florida; and the Fort Lauderdale airport in Florida. Scores of U.S. residents have been charged with or suspected of providing material support to the Islamic State. Some have left the U.S. to commit war crimes in Syria and Iraq.

As President Trump places a 120-day ban on immigration from what he considers high-risk Muslim-majority countries, the history of the mass migration shows that some took part in the Nov. 13, 2015, massacre in Paris -- two posed as refugees from Syria -- and the Christmastime truck carnage in Berlin. Two of the airport and Metro attacks in Brussels last year had fought in Syria and gained entry back into Belgium. The German press has reported refugee knife and ax attacks on innocents.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Israel's Netanyahu Says US Embassy Should Be in Jerusalem
[ABC] Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Sunday that the American embassy in Israel should be moved from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, injecting himself once again into a charged campaign trail promise of U.S. President Donald Trump.

Netanyahu's comments at his weekly Cabinet meeting appeared aimed at countering reports that Israel was concerned about the fallout of such a move, which is vehemently opposed by the Palestinians and has sparked fears of a renewed outbreak of violence. It comes a day after Netanyahu unilaterally endorsed Trump's call to build a wall along the Mexican border, saying the Israeli model along its border with Egypt has proven successful

"I would like to clarify unequivocally that our view has always been, and continues to be, that the United States' embassy should be here in Jerusalem," Netanyahu said. "Jerusalem is the capital of Israel and it is appropriate that not only the American embassy will be here but that all embassies will move here and I believe that in due course most will come here, to Jerusalem."

Currently, nearly all foreign embassies are located in the coastal city of Tel Aviv because their countries have refrained from recognizing Jerusalem as Israel's capital until its status is resolved in future peace talks. Israel has long called for the embassies to be relocated but hasn't pushed hard for it given the widespread international opposition.

But Trump's rise has emboldened Israel's nationalists. His campaign platform made no mention of a Palestinian state, a cornerstone of two decades of international diplomacy in the region, and he has signaled that he will be far more tolerant of Israeli settlement construction than his predecessors.

#1  As long as the Palestinian Authority gets no punishment for its misdeeds, they will continue. This would be a very mild punishment, but would shake the notion that whatever it does, including rejecting peace and insisting on everything and having 522 employees supporting terrorist families, and educating children to hate Jews and promoting attacks on them, only bring more demands on Israel. Mercer: Of Course The President's Ban Is Constitutional
[Barley a Blog] Whenever the President finds that the entry of any aliens or of any class of aliens into the United States would be detrimental to the interests of the United States, he may by proclamation, and for such period as he shall deem necessary, suspend the entry of all aliens or any class of aliens as immigrants or nonimmigrants, or impose on the entry of aliens any restrictions he may deem to be appropriate. --The 1952 Immigration and Nationality Act, Section, 212(f).

President Donald Trump’s moratorium on the entry of all refugees into the United States, and "an order for ’extreme vetting’ as a condition for entry for some foreign citizens," is constitutional. This is old hat; discussed, too, in my book, "The Trump Revolution: The Donald’s Creative Destruction Deconstructed." (June, 2016).

No fan of the executive order, constitutional scholar Jonathan Turley says he disagrees with his "colleagues at George Washington University Law School and other law schools that the order is clearly unconstitutional":
...Courts are not supposed to rule on the merits of such laws but their legality. I think that the existing precedent favors Trump.

First, this is not a religious ban. When it was first discussed on the campaign, it was described as a ban on Muslims. This is not a religious ban. It certainly can be opposed as having that effect but there are a wide array of Muslim countries not covered by the ban and would not be impacted by the restrictions. A court cannot in my view treat this order as carrying out a religious ban as it is currently written. (Trump’s comments that he wants to prioritize Christians could raise more compelling arguments of religious discrimination).

McCain: NAFTA Retreat Will Raise Prices, Cost Jobs
[PJ] WASHINGTON -- Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) warned that President Trump could end up hurting Americans in the wallet with a looming trade war with Mexico.

At the Republicans' congressional retreat in Philadelphia on Thursday, Trump told lawmakers that the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) "has been a terrible deal, a total disaster for the United States from its inception, costing us as much as $60 billion a year with Mexico alone in trade deficits."

"You say, who negotiates these deals? Not to mention, millions of jobs and thousands and thousands of factories and plants closing down all over our country," Trump said. "I will not allow the taxpayers or the citizens of the United States to pay the costs of this defective transaction, NAFTA, one that should have been renegotiated many years ago except the politicians were too preoccupied to do so."

McCain said in a statement that "while renegotiations could help to strengthen and modernize NAFTA to benefit American businesses and consumers, any effort to restrict or impose new barriers on our ability to trade with Mexico and Canada could jeopardize the future of this trade agreement and have serious consequences for Arizona and the country."

"Facts are stubborn things, and the facts clearly show that NAFTA has delivered enormous economic benefits to the citizens of my home state since it went into effect in 1994," the senator said, adding that "in just two decades, Arizona’s exports to Canada and Mexico have increased by $5.7 billion, or 236 percent."

He noted that international trade supports more than 20 percent of jobs in his home state, "which pay roughly 18 percent higher salaries."

DHS Vows to Enforce Donald Trump's Executive Order
[Breitbart] The Department of Homeland Security plans to enforce President Donald Trump’s executive order to dramatically reduce immigration from high threat countries in the Middle East.

"The Department of Homeland Security will continue to enforce all of President Trump’s Executive Orders in a manner that ensures the safety and security of the American people," the agency made in a statement sent to reporters on Sunday. They reminded Americans that only a small percentage of travelers were affected by the new restrictions.

The agency noted that although some individuals were held for further screening, some of them were allowed entry into the United States, despite protesters at area airports describing the order as a "Muslim ban."

"These individuals went through enhanced security screenings and are being processed for entry to the United States, consistent with our immigration laws and judicial orders," the department said.

The agency did not signal that they were prepared to back down from the rigorous enforcement of Trump’s executive action.

"The Department of Homeland Security will comply with judicial orders; faithfully enforce our immigration laws, and implement President Trump’s Executive Orders to ensure that those entering the United States do not pose a threat to our country or the American people," the statement concluded.

Britain
Britain in Line to Sign Major Trade Deals After Brexit
[Breitbart] Britain could strike free trade deals with South Korea, the U.S. and Brazil within a year of leaving the European Union (EU), according to a new report.

The Trade Prospects Index, launched by former government adviser Matthew Oakley, names the three countries as the most likely to want to sign post-Brexit deals with the UK.

The index urges the government to prioritise talks with countries it identifies as having the biggest potential economic value for the UK, and which are likely to be quick in bringing forward an agreement.

South Korea is the most likely to sign a free trade deal with Britain, followed by America, Brazil, China and then Australia according to the report, which is backed by Heathrow Airport chiefs.

Countries analysed in the Trade Prospects Index were ranked based on enthusiasm to sign a deal with Britain, financial services and the speed at which an agreement could be reached.

White House says Trump orders on ‘extreme vetting' still in effect
[Wash Times] Despite confusion at airports and a judicial spanking, the White House said Sunday that President Trump’s "extreme vetting" executive order remains in effect and is working as the administration had hoped, halting almost all travelers from seven majority-Muslim countries with histories of terrorism.

Blasting the media for "hyperventilating," officials said fewer than 200 travelers were subjected to waits as they arrived in the U.S. and tried to clear passport control with valid visas. All of those who were detained have been approved and waved into the country, the administration said.
Still, the political damage was already done as Democrats and even some Republicans said Mr. Trump botched the rollout of the executive order he signed Friday and demanded tweaks.

The Homeland Security Department scrambled to calibrate its policy in the wake of a federal judge’s ruling in New York, which prohibited agents from deporting anyone who arrived on an approved visa. The judge’s ruling applied to people who were already in transit at the time of Friday’s executive order and managed to reach the U.S.

But Mr. Trump’s order remains entirely intact, and its bite will be felt in coming weeks as people from the seven targeted countries are blocked from leaving for the U.S.

The intolerance of the left

[Guardian] Liberal Americans like to think we know the answer to a lot of things ‐ including why those who live outside liberal bubbles chose Donald Trump over Hillary Clinton.

Small-town people, we liberals think, are Republican people. At their best, they are pious, respectful, and conservative; at their worst they are smug and self-righteous, small-minded and yet capable of broad prejudice. People in the hinterlands, we think, are just different: all the adults are church-going puritans with a neatness obsession, and all the kids long to escape and finally be themselves.

But there’s another way of looking at it, and it is just this: small towns are dying.

Donald Trump doesn’t really reflect the moral values of middle America. He is a consummate city slicker, a soft-handed, foul-mouthed toff who lives in a 58-story building and has been identified with New York City excess his entire life. But people in rural areas are desperate these days. Many of them chose Trump, despite his vulgarity and his big-city ways, because he promised to make them "great again".

Watching movies won’t help you to understand this. You need to see the thing itself. And what you will discover, should you choose to undertake this mission in the part of the midwest where I come from, is this: ruination, unless the town you choose to visit has a college or a hospital or a prison in it.

Mosul Offensive News

Islamic State chief decapitator stabbed to death in western Mosul

Nineveh (Iraqinews.com) Unknown individuals have stabbed to death Islamic State’s chief decapitator west of Nineveh, according to a security source.

“An unknown armed group killed on Sunday the Islamic State’s most famous decapitator, the so-nicknamed ‘Abu Sayyaf’”, the source told Alsumaria News. “The armed group ambushed him at al-Dawasa region, in the western side of the city, and stabbed him several times. He died immediately,” he added.

Abu Sayyaf was the leading decapitator in the group’s so-called “Nineveh State”, according to the source. “He had beheaded 100 of violators of the group’s rule, and had used to dump the heads at a well-known hole in al-Khasafa region.

Several assassinations and kidnappings of Islamic State leaderships have been reported since the Iraqi government launched a major offensive in October to retake the city of Mosul, the extremist group’s biggest stronghold in Iraq.

Security operations, backed by a US.-led coalition and popular militias, managed to drive the militants out of the eastern side of the city on January 24th, with at least 3300 members killed, and forces are preparing to invade the group-held west.

Iraqi police head to western Mosul, child, 3 militants killed by drones

Nineveh (IraqiNews.com) Iraqi Federal Police commander said Sunday his forces began moving towards western Mosul to begin operations seeking to recapture that region from Islamic State militants.

Lt. Gen. Shaker Jawdat said Federal Police have completed their preparations for engagement in operations to recapture western Mosul.

In the west, local sources said drone attacks killed one child and three Islamic State members.

A source told Alsumaria News that three IS members, including a Syrian national nicknamed Abu Sarhan al-Souri, were killed in a presumed drone attack that targeted their vehicle near Islah al-Zerai district.

“Al-Souri is a leading (IS) security figure in western Mosul, and was behind many executions of civilians over the past months,” the source said.

Another local source told the network that a four-year-old child was killed and his parents were wounded by an IS-guided drone which dropped a bomb on them near al-Farouq district.

“The skies of the western side of Mosul have witnessed an obvious activity by Islamic State drones that fly towards the eastern districts,” said the source.

Police kill 9 IS militants south of Mosul, IS kill 4 PMU fighters in west

Nineveh (IraqiNews.com) Iraqi police forces killed nine Islamic State militants in southern Mosul on Sunday after a foiled attack, while the extremist group killed four paramilitary fighters in the west.

Maj. Zaid Taha told Bas News website that police forces foiled an attack staged by IS members from several directions at Hammam al-Alil, a district recaptured by security forces in November.

“The forces thwarted the attack, killed nine militants, including a suicide bomber, and arrested four Arab nationals,” Taha said.

Meanwhile, in western Mosul, army captain Bashar Udai told the website that Islamic State militants killed four members of Al-Hashd al-Shaabi (Popular Mobilization Units) after their booby-trapped vehicle stormed a PMU deployment in the strategic town of Tal Abta. Four militia members were also wounded in the attack, according to the military officer.

Iraqi joint forces and allied militias are awaiting orders from the government in Baghdad to begin an offensive against IS strongholds in western Mosul. Operations backed by a US-led international military coalition have managed to retake the whole of the city’s eastern regions since October.

Military officials predict a tougher battle in the west as the region is home to at least 750.000 civilians, a factor that had already slowed down operational progress at some occasions over the past three months.

A guide to Trump's first 17 executive orders
h/t Instapundit
From reauthorizing the construction of contentious pipeline projects to halting the progression of former President Obama's pending regulations, some of President Trump's executive actions have sparked immediate action in the federal government.

Others, such as his memorandum to the Department of Commerce asking for a review about how to require the use of U.S. steel when building pipelines, merely paved the way for potential future actions.

"The whole point of an executive order is that it can be implemented immediately," said Tommy Binion, director of policy outreach at the Heritage Foundation. "There are broader policies that some of the executive orders indicate are coming, but as far as what's actually contained in the executive orders themselves, we should expect that to be immediate."

While Trump's sweeping policy changes are consistent with his campaign promises, they won't all lead to immediate shifts and they don't all carry the same significance.

Here's what we can actually expect to see from the president's executive actions.

Nigerian gunmen attack convoy on northeast highway, 7 killed

... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
Islamic holy warriors attacked a convoy of motorists along a recently secured highway, killing at least seven people and injuring many others, including soldiers in a military escort.

The Maiduguri-Biu highway has been one of the most dangerous routes in northeastern Nigeria for three years because of Boko Haram attacks. Nigeria's military recaptured it last year, but the military escorts motorists along the road.

Eyewitness Dauda Pambe said he was among the travelers guarded by soldiers when gunnies launched the ambush attack on Saturday. He said the first vehicle's tire was hit, preventing the driver from proceeding, so passengers got out and fled into the bush.

Neither the police nor the military has yet issued a statement on the attack.

that the global fight against terrorism was no excuse for banning refugees or people from Moslem-majority countries from entering the United States, her front man said on Sunday.

Steffen Seibert said Merkel had expressed her concerns to Trump during a telephone call on Saturday and reminded him that the Geneva Conventions require the international community to take in war refugees on humanitarian grounds.

"She is convinced that even the necessary, decisive battle against terrorism does not justify putting people of a specific background or faith under general suspicion," he said.

Seibert said the German government regrets the U.S. entry travel ban, would review the consequences for German citizens with dual nationalities, and would "represent their interests, if needed, vis a vis our U.S. partners".

Oleg Erovinkin, a former general in the KGB and its successor the FSB, was found dead in the back of his car in Moscow on December 26.

Steele wrote in an intelligence report he has a source close to Sechin, who had disclosed alleged links between Trump’s supports and Moscow.

Loonies Activists try to stop warplanes leaving UK bound for Saudi Arabia
Two activists have been arrested while apparently trying to disarm warplanes bound for Saudi Arabia. Lancashire police confirmed that two people had been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage following an incident at the site and that officers were investigating.

A statement released on behalf of the Rev Dan Woodhouse and Quaker activist Sam Walton said the pair had entered the BAE Systems site in Warton, Lancashire, on Sunday morning with the intention of disarming planes. The two men said their actions were aimed at preventing a delivery of fighter jets to the Saudi government. They said the delivery was due to take place in the next few weeks.

White House: Supreme Court choice could be announced Monday
A White House official says President Donald Trump could announce his pick for the Supreme Court as early as Monday.

Trump originally said the announcement would come on Thursday, but the official says the timeframe could be sped up.

Three federal appeals court judges are said to have emerged as leading candidates: Neil Gorsuch, Thomas Hardiman and William Pryor. The official says the president has also been considering Diane Sykes, one of his early favorites for the high court seat.

Word of a possible earlier announcement came as the White House dealt with fallout from Trump's ban on refugees. As a candidate, Trump often used surprise announcements to shift attention away from negative coverage.
Nice spin at the end.

Iraq
ISIS jihadi who murdered women with meat cleaver is chopped in Mosul
Pictures show Abu Abdel Rahman, who used a meat cleaver to to slaughter his female victims, before he was shot dead in the ISIS stronghold in northern Iraq. The death cult’s senior commander is believed to have been gunned down in the al-Askari neighbourhood, which is yet to be liberated from ISIS control.

A security source revealed: “The unknown gunmen shot at Abu Abdel Rahman, ISIS’ senior commander, in al-Askari region in the centre of Mosul city, and he was killed right on the spot.”

More than 250 women were butchered in Mosul in April after refusing to enter into “sexual jihad” with ISIS fighters and Rahman, from Saudi Arabia, is believed to have been present throughout their executions. A Kurdish military spokesman said many of the women who rejected the “temporary marriages” were killed along with their families.

The warped terror cell has a long history of maltreatment towards women, routinely using rape as a weapon and selling thousands of female captives into the sex trade, even using online bidding forums.

'You have NO moral standing' Galloway blasts liberal Obama fans for criticising Trump ban
Politicians don't come any seedier than Georgie Galloway.
GEORGE Galloway has come to Donald Trump’s support and lashed out at Clinton and Obama supporters for standing by when Democrats murdered "a million Muslims".

Mr Galloway who was an MP for the Labour and later the Respect Party, said on Twitter: "Obama deported more folks than ALL US presidents put together. If you were with Obama you’ve no moral standing."

The former politician is one of the few people to come out in defence of Donald Trump in the wake of his immigration ban, which has leaders across the world criticise him.

In a furious rant, he also said: "Bill and Hillary Clinton and Obama until LAST WEEK murdered a million Muslims. Trump imposed a travel ban. And HE is the No1 villain?"

and the immigration officers who did it were very bureaucratic. I know someone who had a green card for more than 15 years who was arrested after returning to this country after a brief visit to his home country, and who was kept in jail through mistakes by officials until he got a hearing and was released.

Customs agents ignore judge, enforce Trump’s travel ban sez ACLU
The ACLU is getting “multiple reports” that federal customs agents are siding with President Trump — and willfully ignoring a Brooklyn federal judge’s demand that travelers from seven Muslim countries not be deported from the nation’s airports.

“The court’s order could not be clearer… they need to comply with the order,” Omar Jadwat, director of the ACLU’s Immigrants Rights project, told The Post late Saturday.

“It’s enough to be a serious concern,” Jadwat said of the reports.

Jadwat and other ACLU lawyers had earlier Saturday night won an emergency stay of Trump’s deportation order from Brooklyn Federal Judge Ann Donnelly.

Soros Bankrolling Effort to Stop Trump’s Temporary Refugee Halt Order
[PJMEDIA] According to Breitbart's Aaron Klein, the signatories to the lawsuit filed Saturday to block Trump’s executive order included immigration lawyers from groups financed by Soros.

At least one case quickly prompted a legal challenge as lawyers representing two Iraqi refugees held at Kennedy International Airport in New York filed a motion early Saturday seeking to have their clients released. They also filed a motion for class certification, in an effort to represent all refugees and other immigrants colonists who they said were being unlawfully detained at ports of entry.

The suit was filed by lawyers from the International Refugee Assistance Project, the National Immigration Law Center, the Jerome N. Frank Legal Services Organization at Yale Law School, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), and the International Refugee Assistance Project (formerly Iraqi Refugee Assistance Project) at the Urban Justice Center.

The ACLU is massively funded by Soros’s Open Society Foundations, including with a $50 million grant in 2014.

The National Immigration Law Center has received numerous Open Society grants earmarked for general support.

The Urban Justice Center is also the recipient of an Open Society grant.

Taryn Higashi, executive director of the Center’s International Refugee Assistance Project, which is listed on the Trump lawsuit, currently serves on the Advisory Board of the International Migration Initiative of Soros’s Open Society Foundations.

Sunday Times Writer India Knight on Trump: The assassination is taking such a long time.
[TheRalphRetort] I’ve seen some crazy tweets in response to President Trump. I’ve even seen some calls for his assassination by Twitter randos and the like. Mayor Eula Clarke Tells Police, ‘I Didn't Know We Were Serving Pig Tonight'
Residents in the south Florida town of Stuart are not happy with Mayor Eula Clarke after she threw an open insult at an officer in their town.

The insult came from Mayor Eula Clarke while inside of a grocery store. Mayor Clarke reportedly said, "What are we serving, pig today?," when she entered the store and saw the officer. After the Palm Beach County Police Benevolent Association got involved, she issued an apology in what she called an "unfortunate incident."
According to John Kazanjian, the president of the local Police Benevolent Association, a Stuart police officer was inside Taylor’s grocery store on January 11th when the Mayor, Eula Clarke walked in. The officer then left the store, very upset by the verbal insult made by the mayor of the town he was hired to protect.

Clarke has since come under sharp scrutiny for the incident. She embarrassingly tried to avoid questions on whether it actually happened during a recent interview with WPTV.

Eula, you get all dem cops to quit and you get the kinda town you want.
When a local reporter tried to interview Clarke about the incident, she begun by trying to skirt the details. "So what happened on January the 11 involving a Stuart police officer?," he asked.

"Andrew, I told you I want to make a short statement to the public," she said.

He tries again by asking her, "Did you make a reference to a pig in reference to a Stuart police officer?"

"Again, I’m telling you that I support law enforcement," she replied. She scrambled to dodge the direct questions but later backtracked and said, "It happened. That was something that happened. It’s done with. I want to move on. I want the officers to work for our community. I want them to believe in what I do as mayor. To believe in what they do for their jobs. I just want to make sure that they know I have their backs," she said.

Clarke continued to say that she had met with the officer and "expressed to him how sorry it is that this unfortunate event happened."

Unfortunate event? You mean when you hurled derogatory insults at an officer that got dressed that day by putting on a bullet proof vest to go protect the citizens of your city? The same officer that grabbed a gun knowing he may need it to protect himself and others, maybe even you. And again the same officer that probably stood in that store with his view on the door, always watching, always ready, only to have his own mayor walk in and disrespect him and our nation’s police officers.

Mayor Eula Clarke, you just showed the citizens and the department exactly what you think of your men and women in blue and quite frankly, you should feel the repercussions of your behavior.

Clarke later issued an apology to the Police Benevolent Association. One that, while appreciated, is not enough. "It’s a first step," Kazanjian says. "That’s just on paper. Anyone can write that. She needs to get with the men and women."

Trump's executive orders dramatically expand power of immigration officers
Washington (CNN)The immigration executive orders signed by President Donald Trump this week could amount to a vast expansion of authority for individual immigration officers and a dramatic increase in efforts to detain and deport undocumented immigrants.

The order lays out a series of categories of undocumented immigrants that immigration law enforcement officials should prioritize for removing from the country, a reaction to what was criticized by the right as lax enforcement of immigration law by former President Barack Obama.

But experts
Who are these "experts"?
say the descriptions include virtually every person in the country illegally and give broad latitude to individual immigration officers to decide who should be detained for deportation.

In addition to a strain on resources, critics worry the orders could cause legal concerns.

The Obama administration had prioritized expulsion of undocumented immigrants who threatened public safety or national security, had ties to criminal gang activity, committed serious felony offenses or were habitual misdemeanor criminal offenders.

Trump's order goes far beyond that, using a sweeping definition of "criminal" and giving a single immigration officer the ability to make judgments on threats to public safety.
Which is what immigration officers are supposed to do.
The order says the priority will be removing deportable immigrants who "have been convicted of any criminal offense; have been charged with any criminal offense, where such charge has not been resolved; have committed acts that constitute a chargeable criminal offense; have engaged in fraud or willful misrepresentation in connection with any official matter or application before a governmental agency; have abused any program related to receipt of public benefits; are subject to a final order of removal, but who have not complied with their legal obligation to depart the United States; or in the judgment of an immigration officer, otherwise pose a risk to public safety or national security."

The order labels each category "A" through "G," but doesn't make explicit whether they are in decreasing order of significance or equal.
Seems to read clearly enough to me: if you fit into one of these categories, you're excluded.
Experts say the order would seemingly include all undocumented immigrants -- a departure from Obama administration policies that extended some protections to those that have lived in the US for potentially decades and have otherwise been contributing members of society.
Why yes, it would, which is exactly the point. It isn't Trump who is writing new law, it was Obama who did so. Trump is rolling it back to the original intent of Congress. You can see why that's a problem.
The Obama administration offered formal protection to a group under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, geared toward undocumented immigrants brought to the US as children who grew up here and were pursuing education or jobs.

Trump has said that such individuals are not his priority, that he wants to focus on removing "bad dudes." Nevertheless, his sweeping executive order would seemingly allow for anyone to be detained for removal proceedings, even if they have only been suspected of committing a crime, including misdemeanors, or of being a threat.
Correct. If you're suspected of being a threat you shouldn't be here.
"I think it covers just about every illegal alien in the country," said Hans von Spakovsky, a legal expert at the conservative Heritage Foundation, which has been strongly influential on Trump's policy. "It's also very clear that the No. 1 priority is people who have been charged and convicted with criminal offenses, and that's the kind of violent criminals who should be out of the country."
Thank you for the explanation Hans, but I fear it falls on deaf ears...
Still, there's nothing in the current order that makes that clear. It places a violent criminal at the same level as a parent of US citizen children who works and contributes to their community, said Washington University law professor Stephen Legomsky.
Because both are illegal...
"That strikes me as crazy," said Legomsky, who has served as a consultant to Obama, former President Bill Clinton and the George H.W. Bush administration.

this week had planned to attack embassies and tourist sites in the North African country.

Seven members of a "dangerous cell" were arrested in a dawn operation on Friday in five different cities and "other suspects are on the run", said Abdelhak Khiam who heads Morocco's anti-terrorism security service.

He told a presser that the group's chief, calling himself an "emir" was among those arrested, and that he had sought to set up a branch of IS in the kingdom.

Khiam said the man had received "financing and weapons from members of the Libyan branch of IS".

This cell was "determined to take action" against "diplomatic representations, tourist sites and public figures", he said, in "coordination with IS members from the Syria-Iraq area and Libya".

The suspects were aged between 20 and 29.

Reporters were shown seized weapons and equipment including seven handguns and a machinegun that Khiam said "came from Libya and were transported via the border with Algeria".

Two military jackets "containing explosives products" were also recovered.

Several suspects were apprehended in a rented apartment in the city of El Jadida.

In a statement on Sunday, the interior ministry said it intended to strengthen controls on the renting of furnished properties.

"It has been discovered that some terrorist groups and organised crime groups have rented houses or apartments whose owners in several cases did not inform the authorities," the statement said.

This "helps suspects conceal themselves and prepare acts of sabotage," it warned, urging owners "to notify the authorities of tenants' identities", on pain of prosecution for complicity.

Why Tehran's Fire Department Failed to Control Hi-Rise Fire
[IranWire] Morteza Rezaei, former commander of the Tehran Police and a member of the City Council, arrived at the scene of the Plasco fire just a few hours after the 17-floor building had collapsed, killing dozens of firefighters and other victims. A firefighter, who had been clearing the debris when Rezaei arrived, stopped his work and vented his frustration, rage and fatigue, built up since early in the morning, at the city official.

“At this moment we have 141 fire trucks, of which 56 have been retired or broken down,” said that report. “84 of the trucks are in working order.” A member of the City Council also told Iranian media that 365 is the “optimum” number of fire truck Tehran needs to maintain an effective defense against fire.
“What are you looking at?” he shouted at Rezaei. “Give money so we can buy equipment. This one is done for. It was finished several years ago.” The tense muscles in his neck reflected his increasing rage.

“When we need money, why don’t you give it?” he shouted. “Why do we have to send letter after letter?” Rezaei just looked on — bewildered and silent, as if he too was exhausted and had nothing to offer but silence. His silence will surely be remembered by reporters and others on the scene.

According to sources, there are at least 18 robber gangs operating in the Sundarbans, the biggest mangrove forest of the world, including "Majnu Bahini", "Sagar Bahini", "Raju Bahini" and "Jahangir Bahini".

All the gangs possess modern arms and ammunition, and they collect money from fishermen, honey collectors, and wood cutters.

Each of these gangs has its own area of operations and nobody can enter the Sundarbans without a "token" given by them in lieu of a monthly payment.

At present, the RAB and Bangladesh Coast Guard provide security in and around the Sundarbans.

The surrender of the bandidos made local fishermen happy. They said they would be able to catch fish without fear if other bandidos also decided to surrender like the ten.

India-Pakistan
Segregation on campus
[DAWN] MORAL policing appears to have become the new normal on Pak campuses, and apparently one of the most effective ways that morality can be upheld is to keep young men and women apart. A report in this paper on Saturday gave a glimpse of the gender segregation being practised at some institutes of higher education. At times this follows an unwritten agenda, at others there are codes of conduct and fines -- even strong-arm tactics -- to enforce it. At the Punjab
1.) Little Orphan Annie's bodyguard
2.) A province of Pakistain ruled by one of the Sharif brothers
3.) A province of India. It is majority (60 percent) Sikh and Hindoo (37 percent), which means it has relatively few Moslem riots....

University in Lahore, where the Islami Jamaat-e-Talaba
...The Islamic Students' Organization: the student wing of the Jamaat-e-Islami, where young Moslems are trained into the arts of street fighting...
is the flag-bearer of the moral police, girl students are compelled to sit at the back of the class -- which is not much better than making them sit at the back of the bus. This approach extends to other aspects of campus life as well: some canteens are out of bounds entirely for girls, while at others their seating is located behind a curtained-off area. At another institute, each gender has its own entryway and couples detected sitting together are fined Rs5,000 each.

It was not very long ago when universities treated their students as adults with the capacity to make decisions -- whether right or wrong -- based on the values that had been inculcated in them. Even when campus administrations sometimes introduced bizarre rules to prevent student fraternisation, these were treated with levity. After all, at this stage, young people are on the threshold of stepping out into the real world, a complex place where gender segregation is rarely the norm and impossible to achieve without sacrificing productivity and efficiency. Institutes of higher learning thus offer valuable opportunities for students to learn to interact with people of the opposite gender -- in other words, learn how to conduct themselves in society. However,
the way to a man's heart remains through his stomach...
a blinkered, authoritarian worldview has overtaken many campuses, and administrations are either afraid to challenge ideologically conservative student groups or they share the same thinking. Building walls between students on the basis of gender is not the way to foster a healthy attitude to life.

The Grand Turk
Reina terrorist’s second target was Cumhuriyet
[Hurriyet Daily News] Very important evidence has been accessed during the interrogation of Reina nightclub murderer Abdulkadir Masharipov, who was caught by Istanbul police on Jan. 16. His capture alive helped give information about several of his connections. If only the assassin of Russian Ambassador Andrey Karlov, Mevlut Mert Altintas, had been caught alive we could have learned of any connection between the Karlov liquidation and the 2015 downing of the Russian jet. We could have learned who he took the order from and, most importantly, deciphered whether he was part of a FETÖ liquidation team.

According to information provided by Masharipov so far, there were three potential targets on the night of the Reina attack. One of them was the office of daily Cumhuriyet in Istanbul. When the Cumhuriyet address was given to him, it was defined as "the newspaper that insulted the prophet." But they decided not to attack the paper because there would not have been many people there on that night. So Masharipov was directed toward Reina.

He killer checked three different addresses on Dec. 31. He went to Taksim Square and told his partners in Syria that the square would not be suitable for an attack. He told the headquarters in Syria that because of the strict security measures and because of the rain, turnout in Taksim would be low.

In Syria he called Raqqa, speaking to the "emir" for The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
, who wanted to stage an attack that would be heard worldwide. He then apparently made checks around the Cumhuriyet building in Istanbul’s Sisli district. This could be verified by reviewing camera footage around the paper.

Why Cumhuriyet? In the order sent from Raqqa, it is defined as "the newspaper that insulted the prophet." The order also makes a connection between the Charlie Hebdo
...A lefty French satirical magazine, home of what may well be the majority if the active testicles left in Europe...
attack and Cumhuriyet. The Charlie Hebdo magazine was attacked on Jan. 7, 2015 in La Belle France by ISIS bad boys, killing 11, after which daily Cumhuriyet printed the Charlie Hebdo cover in the name of solidarity.

Ultimately, Masharipov was directed to Reina. If a different order had come, our colleagues working at Cumhuriyet on New Year’s Eve would have been targeted.

Communication was done through the Telegram messaging app on Masharipov’s mobile. The final order for the massacre at Reina also came through Telegram, accompanied by images of people dancing and having fun in the club. Police have found no evidence of any accomplice inside the club.

It is said that Masharipov has looked very professional during his interrogation. Gravely, he is apparently determined that if he was released today he would stage the same attack again.

After the massacre, he went to see his wife and took his 4.5-year-old son. His plan was to take a ferry to Canakkale, then to Izmir, and then to Hatay, from where he would cross to Syria. There was his escape plan, but ISIS did not hand him his son, ruining his initial plans.

He said he had married in a religious wedding with the Egyptian woman who was with him from the beginning in Istanbul, identified as Tene Trare.

Tene Trare started talking when it dawned on her that her husband would leave her and run away to Syria, taking their son as well as his Egyptian lover.

Clearly, even if you are a terrorist its best not to play with a woman’s feelings.

#1  I didn't read the article as carefully as I thought the first time, and missed this gem:

If only the assassin of Russian Ambassador Andrey Karlov, Mevlut Mert Altintas, had been caught alive we could have learned ... most importantly, deciphered whether he was part of a FETÖ liquidation team.

Why on earth would Gulenists go after a Russian ambassador? It is Erdogan Bey, the much beloved, who is causing all their troubles -- the Russians couldn't care less.

Turkish soldier killed in ISIL attack in Syria’s al-Bab
One soldier was killed and two others were wounded in an Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) attack in Syria’s al-Bab on Jan. 29, Doğan News Agency has reported.

ISIL militants attacked troops in the al-Bab region on the afternoon of the 159th day of the Euphrates Shield operation.

Specialized sergeant Ayhan Elmacı was killed and two soldiers were wounded in the attack. The wounded soldiers were taken to hospitals in the border provinces of Gaziantep and Kilis.

Earlier in the day, the Turkish military said a total of 18 ISIL militants were “neutralized” in northern Syria over the last 24 hours as part of the Euphrates Shield operation.

The Turkish Armed Forces also hit 18 ISIL targets in northern Syria, said a Turkish General Staff statement. Turkish jets destroyed three gun positions, four checkpoints, two underground tunnels and nine buildings.

Iraq
Chemical weapons found in Mosul in Isis lab, say Iraqi forces
[Guardian] Iraqi forces have said they have discovered a mustard chemical warfare agent in eastern Mosul alongside a cache of Russian surface-to-surface missiles.

Iraqi and US officials have repeatedly warned of efforts by Isis to develop chemical weapons. When Iraqi forces retook Mosul University this month, they found chemistry labs they believed had been converted into makeshift weapons labs.

Iraqi forces showed journalists a tank of the chemical agent and a warehouse of more than a dozen surface-to-surface rockets bearing Russian inscriptions. Brigadier General Haider Fadhil from Iraqi special forces said French officials tested the chemical this week and confirmed it was a mustard agent. “We know that they were using this place to experiment with chemical weapons,” he said, referring to Isis.

Fadhil did not specify the quantity or potency of the chemical, but Iraqi soldiers were able to visit the site for about 10 minutes without exhibiting symptoms of exposure.

Fadhil said he believed the facility was set up in the Nineveh ruins – an ancient site away from the city’s dense neighbourhoods – to keep it a secret from Mosul residents who might be passing information to Iraqi forces and the US-led coalition.

The number of casualties due to Isis chemical weapons is a small fraction compared with the hundreds of civilians killed in car and suicide bombings carried out by the group. Experts say that is largely due to the low grade of the weapons and the group’s lack of access to efficient delivery systems.

The types of rockets found at the site suggest Isis was attempting to weaponise the chemical agent, Fadhil said. He added that he believed the facility was being used up until just one or two weeks ago.

The Daily Mail has photos.

Muslim member of Myanmar ruling party is shot dead at airport
Boy oh boy, the travel ban is tougher than I thought...
A prominent Muslim lawyer and member of Myanmar’s ruling party has been shot dead along with a taxi driver outside Yangon’s international airport, officials say.

Ko Ni, a member of Aung San Suu Kyi’s National League for Democracy, was gunned down as he got into a taxi outside arrivals at around 5pm local time by an unidentified gunman, who also killed the driver.

“According to our initial information, Ko Ni and the taxi driver were killed,” a security source at the airport said, asking not to be named.

“An unknown man shot him in the head while he was hiring a taxi. He was later arrested,” the source added.

Zaw Htay, a spokesman at the president’s office, said Ko Ni had just returned from a government delegation trip to Indonesia.

“He was shot while he was waiting for a car outside the airport. Ko Ni died on the spot,” he said.

Ko Ni, a long time member of the NLD and legal adviser to the party, often spoke out in favour of religious tolerance and pluralism.

In late 2015 Aung San Suu Kyi’s NLD party won a landslide election victory, ending decades of military led rule. But in what analysts widely saw as a sop to Buddhist hardliners, the party fielded no Muslim candidates, despite boasting many prominent Muslim figures in its ranks.

Aung San Suu Kyi has also faced international censure for her failure to criticise an ongoing army crackdown against the Muslim Rohingya minority in western Rakhine state. Since the launch of the crackdown in October at least 66,000 Rohingya have fled to neighbouring Bangladesh alleging security forces are carrying out a campaign of rape, torture and mass killings.

The treatment of the Rohingya, a stateless group denied citizenship in Myanmar, has galvanised anger across the Muslim world. Many among Myanmar’s Buddhist majority call them Bengalis – shorthand for illegal immigrants from neighbouring Bangladesh – even though many have lived in Myanmar for generations.

US commando dies in Yemen raid
A bit disjointed from the Guardian. I assume we'll hear more.
One elite US commando is dead and three wounded after a Yemen raid that Donald Trump’s Pentagon is signalling will be a template for aggressive counter-terrorism action.

An aircraft malfunction led to what the Pentagon called a “hard landing in a nearby location”. Commandos intentionally destroyed the aircraft, which local residents and officials said was a helicopter.

The US was said to have staged Saturday’s raid offshore, from an aircraft carrier in the region.

“We are deeply saddened by the loss of one of our elite service members,” said Gen Joseph Votel, commander of US forces in the Middle East and south Asia. “These sacrifices are very profound in our fight against terrorists who threaten innocent peoples across the globe."

Central Command, in a Sunday statement, said “an estimated” 14 members of al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) had been killed in the raid. It provided no indication regarding the raid’s objective.

In a statement, Trump said: “A life of a heroic service member has been taken in our fight against the evil of radical Islamic terrorism,” and said his “deepest thoughts and humblest prayers are with the family of this fallen service member”.

He added: “The sacrifices made by the men and women of our armed forces, and the families they leave behind, are the backbone of the liberty we hold so dear as Americans, united in our pursuit of a safer nation and a freer world.”

Central Command said the raid included “the capture of information that will likely provide insight into the planning of future terror plots”.

Local witnesses cited by Reuters said the gun battle in the rural Yakla district of Bayda province killed Abdulraoof al-Dhahab, a senior AQAP leader, along with other militants. Unidentified Yemeni security officials reportedly said three senior al-Qaida leaders were killed.

More via Dawn:
Elite US forces launched a dawn raid against Al Qaeda in Yemen on Sunday, killing at least 14 suspected militants in an operation in which an American soldier also died.

The assault marked Washington’s first major military action in Yemen under President Donald Trump, who has vowed to step up the fight against “Islamic” extremism.

The US military said the raid in the Yakla region of Baida province killed 14 members of Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), which Washington views as the global network’s most dangerous branch.

A Yemeni provincial official gave a higher toll of 41 presumed militants and 16 civilians killed in the raid, including eight women and eight children.

Washington did not specify how the US soldier died. It said three American servicemen were injured in the raid along with a fourth one who was hurt in a “hard landing”.

A US defence official later said that “no prisoners had been taken” during the operation.

Sunday’s US raid was said to have targeted the houses of three tribal chiefs linked to Al Qaeda.

The provincial official said Apache helicopters also struck a school, a mosque and a medical facility which were all used by Al Qaeda militants.

The three prominent tribal figures killed in the attack were identified as brothers Abdulraouf and Sultan al-Zahab and Saif Alawai al-Jawfi, the official and other sources said.

They were known to be linked to Al Qaeda, the sources said.

Among the children killed in the raid was the daughter of the late US-born preacher Anwar al-Awlaqi, Nura, who lived with the family of her maternal uncle, a relative said.

Awlaqi himself was killed in September 2011 in a drone strike and his son Abulrahman was killed two weeks later in a similar attack.

Local officials said an Al Qaeda chief in the region was also killed in Sunday’s raid.

The operation resulted in the capture of information that would “provide insight into the planning of future terrorist plots”, said the military authorities.

Unions of Border Patrol, ICE agents cheer Trump actions
[WASHINGTONEXAMINER] President Trump's decision to build a wall on the U.S.-Mexico border and stop the free flow of refugees until they can be vetted better is reviving the morale of customs and border agents, according to the union representing both.

"Morale amongst our agents and officers has increased exponentially," said a joint statement from the National Border Patrol Council and National ICE Council.

"The men and women of ICE and Border Patrol will work tirelessly to keep criminals, terrorists, and public safety threats out of this country, which remains the number one target in the world ‐ and President Trump's actions now empower us to fulfill this life saving mission, and it will indeed save thousands of lives and billions of dollars," it added.

The statement on behalf of the agents for the immigration, customs and border protection was a powerful endorsement of Trump's action as he his under fire from critics of his actions.

"Muslim ban" hypocrisy: Left quiet when Obama also halted visas
By Andrew Bolt

[Herald Sun] There has been hysterical media condemnation of Donald Trump's decision to refuse visas to travellers from seven mainly Muslim countries, including Iraq, for the next 90 days.

But why was the Left silent when the Obama administration refused to issue visas to Iraqis for six months?

Journalists are also questioning Trump's choice of seven countries from which immigration and visits will be suspended for 90 days, while vetting procedures are checked. Some journalists suggest Trump is corrupt - being driven by vested interests. But, once again, the same seven countries were singled out by President Barack Obama's administration for special security precautions. The choice was his, not Trump's, and no one in the media complained.

Trump reaffirms US commitment to NATO in conversation with Hollande
US President Donald Trump reaffirmed the commitment of the United States to NATO in a phone talk with his French counterpart Francois Hollande and voiced the desire to enhance US-French security cooperation, Sputnik reported.

"The leaders discussed our military and defense cooperation both bilaterally and through NATO. President Trump reaffirmed the U.S. commitment to NATO and noted the importance of all NATO Allies sharing the burden on defense spending," the statement said on Saturday.

The statement added that in the phone conversation Trump also voiced his desire to strengthen security cooperation, including in the sphere of counterterrorism. According to the statement, the two presidents also appreciated the efforts made by both Washington and Paris to fight against the Islamic State terrorist group, which is outlawed in many countries, including the United States and Russia.

During the presidential race Trump repeatedly said that Washington should decrease the support of other NATO member states and protect only those members of the alliance, who "fulfill their obligations" to the United States.

Trump issues statement defending travel bans
I had to go to Azerbaijan to find Trump's statement. Apparently the NYT doesn't see it as fit to print.
Calling America a "proud nation of immigrants," US President Donald Trump defended the immigration restrictions he ordered January 27 and said he would continue "protect our own citizens and border.", Sputnik reported.

"America has always been the land of the free and the home of the brave. We will keep it free and safe, as the media knows but refuses to say," Trump began his statement, taking aim at his favorite target, the US media.

He said while the country would continue to show "compassion to those fleeing oppression," it must do so while protecting itself, and that within 90 days, visas would begin being issued for "all countries."

The new president equated his ban on accepting Syrian refugees, his four-month suspension of taking refugees from any country, and his ban on admitting nationals of seven Muslim countries to what former President Barack Obama did in 2011, when for six months he stopped issuing visas for refugees from Iraq.

Trump also noted that the seven nations his ban affects — Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen — were identified by the Obama administration as "sources of terror."
Obama just didn't do a lot about it...
"To be clear, this is not a Muslim ban, as the media is falsely reporting," Trump said. "This is not about religion — this is about terror and keeping our country safe. There are over 40 different countries worldwide that are majority Muslim that are not affected by this order."

"We will again be issuing visas to all countries once we are sure we have reviewed and implemented the most secure policies over the next 90 days," he said.

Trump also said he had "tremendous feeling" for those caught up in the "horrific humanitarian crisis" in Syria, but that his first priority is to American citizens.

Pentagon starts cost-cutting reviews of F-35, AF-One
U.S. Defense Secretary James Mattis ordered cost-cutting reviews of two major aircraft acquisition programs, the F-35 fighter jet and Boeing Co’s next-generation of the Air Force One presidential plane, according to Pentagon memos released on Jan. 27.

The review of Lockheed Martin Corp’s F-35 program, which U.S. President Donald Trump has derided as being too expensive, would have two parts: one looking at how to cut costs, and the other determining whether Boeing’s F/A-18E/F Super Hornet, with improvements, could be an effective, cheaper alternative, the memo said.

Costs for Lockheed Martin’s F-35 program have escalated to an estimated $379 billion. The program accounted for 20 percent of the company’s total revenue of $46.1 billion last year.

The chances that the review would cause a major change were low, according to a report published by Byron Callan, an analyst at research firm Capital Alpha Partners. Callan said costs could be cut if requirements and the aircraft’s capabilities were also relaxed.

In a statement released on Jan. 27, Lockheed Martin said it stood ready to support Mattis’ review of the program, adding that the cost of the F-35 could go down if the United States and other customers committed to purchasing the planes in larger, multi-year batches.

The review of the Air Force One replacement, which Trump has also called too expensive, would look at the plane’s requirements and systems and identify courses of action to reduce acquisition and sustainment costs.

In December, Trump extracted a promise from Boeing Chief Executive Dennis Muilenburg that the cost of replacing Air Force One would not exceed $4 billion.

“We’re going to get it done for less than that,” Muilenburg told reporters last month, “and we’re committed to working together to make sure that happens.”

On Friday, a Boeing representative said the company has been providing information to the Trump administration for some weeks and was committed to providing equipment to the military as affordably as possible.

Illegal Aliens Really Do Vote – a Lot
[American Thinker] A warm, sunny Saturday a decade ago, there was a Hispanic festival in our small town, a bedroom community for illegal aliens seeking day labor jobs in the nearby wealthy suburbs. It was a sanctuary city at the time. No problem with the festival itself. The music was lively and the food tasty. And don't the Irish have St. Patrick's Day, and the Italians Columbus Day?

While wandering around the festivities, I noticed a table with three nice ladies in front of a "Register To Vote" sign. Curious about its presence at a festival where the bulk of the crowd was either illegal alien day laborers or legal non-citizens, I went over to inquire. Before I spoke, one of those nice ladies asked me if I was registered to vote.

Wanting to see where this would go, I said no, and asked how to sign up. A voter registration form was thrust in my hands. The very first item on these forms, in Virginia and the rest of America, was "I am a citizen of the United States of America," with YES and NO blocks to check.

"Don't I need to show you some proof of citizenship?" I asked. She replied "no." I asked her how she could verify that I wasn’t lying. Sensing she might be on a slippery slope, she called over a supervisor from the Registrar's Office and told the woman of my concern. The official told me they never checked citizenship status because I would be penalized if I lied. Really? So I asked her how she would verify my truthfulness, or those of the dozens of new voters being registered that day. Defensively, she replied that they checked all registrations for accuracy at the Registrar's Office when they were turned in.

I called the Registrar Monday, and asked if they do indeed verify citizenship status. I was told that they didn't unless someone made a specific complaint against an individual applicant.

Forward to our next local election, where the illegal alien presence and an unlawful day labor site were THE issues, I noticed that the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) in their purple tee shirts, and their local spinoffs were canvassing the town. I followed them for awhile as they went to homes and neighborhoods where the illegal aliens concentrated, and watched them exit each home or apartment with a new handful of voter registrations.

Ten years later, nobody at the Registrar's Office is checking citizenship.

Customs agents ignore judge, enforce Trump’s travel ban: ACLU
[NYPOST] The ACLU is getting "multiple reports" that federal customs agents are siding with President Trump -- and willfully ignoring a Brooklyn federal judge’s demand that travelers from seven Moslem countries not be deported from the nation’s airports.

"The court’s order could not be clearer... they need to comply with the order," Omar Jadwat, director of the ACLU’s Immigrants colonists Rights project, told The Post late Saturday.

"It’s enough to be a serious concern," Jadwat said of the reports.

Jadwat and other ACLU lawyers had earlier Saturday night won an emergency stay of Trump’s deportation order from Brooklyn Federal Judge Ann Donnelly.

UN-proposed government’s Labor Minister resigns in another nail into government’s coffin
[Libya Observer] The Labor Minister at the UN-proposed government, Ali Qalma, resigned on Friday and said the Presidential Council had been "absolutely kidnapped."

Speaking on TV, Qalma said that his resignation is a moral and ethical commitment to the well-being of Libyans as he could pursue no longer seeing the ever-sliding security and living conditions in the country, adding, "it is unacceptable."

Qalma explained that the PC failed to deal with the crises in the country and that it is had been suffering from obvious discord among its membership, pointing out that the budget of the financial preparations must be halted and only the budget of salary payments should remain in effect currently.

Qalma’s resignation, which is the second in weeks, after that of al-Koni, casts doubt on the future of al-Sirraj-chaired government as it is now after over one year of assuming office based on the agreement, struck in Skhirat, Morocco, under the auspices of the UN, but receiving little support by the conflicting Libyan factions.

Earlier, a witness told Rooters that up to three gunnies fired on about 40 people inside the Quebec City Islamic Cultural Centre.

Police put up a security perimeter around the mosque and declined to comment to news hounds about the incident.

"Why is this happening here? This is barbaric," said the mosque's president, Mohammed Yangui.

In June 2016, a pig’s head was left on the doorstep of the cultural centre.

Yangui, who was not inside the mosque when the shooting occurred, said he got frantic calls from people at evening prayers. He did not know how many were maimed, saying they had been taken to different hospitals across Quebec City.

Incidents of Islamophobia
...the irrational fear that Moslems will act the way they usually do...
increased in Quebec in recent years amid a political debate over banning the niqab, or Moslem face covering. In 2013, police investigated after a mosque in the Saguenay region of Quebec was splattered with what was believed to be pig blood.

In the neighbouring province of Ontario, a mosque was set on fire in 2015, a day after an attack by gunnies and jacket wallahs in Gay Paree.

#16  HotAir:According to Radio-Canada and LCN, the two suspects in Sunday’s terror attacks on a mosque in Quebec City are Alexandre Bissonnette and Mohamed Khadir.
One of the suspects were arrested at the scene, while a second called 911 himself and was arrested around 9 p.m., just over an hour after the first 911 calls came in at 7:55 p.m., police said Monday morning during a news conference involving the Sûreté du Québec, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Quebec City police and Montreal police.
They were not known to police and the investigation into a possible motive continues, said superintendent Martin Plante of the RCMP’s C Division.

#20  The Daily Mail has two articles updating the story, with photos, of course. (article one, article two) As of now, Moroccan-Canadian Mohamed el Khadir is considered a witness, not a suspect, though previously witnesses said two men burst throught he door of the mosque, shooting off guns. Key bits from the articles:

Six men aged between 39 and 60 were killed inside the Quebec City Islamic Cultural Center. Five people are in critical condition, another 12 suffered less serious injuries and 39 escaped unharmed.

Khadir was arrested at the scene but Bissonnette fled in his Mitsubishi. He was arrested 15 miles away later after calling 911 to turn himself in. He is said to have had at least one handgun and two weapons 'that resembled AK-47s' on his back seat.

Police searched Bissonnette's home in the nearby suburb Cap Rouge overnight and Khadir's apartment on Monday.

Hamid Nadji said friends inside the building had told him one victim 'had a weapon discharged in his face' when he tried to jump on an attacker.

'Three others died because they wanted to catch the man,' Nadji told 24hours, adding that he had been told one assailant left the mosque twice to reload his weapon.

Quebec provincial police now say only one of the two men arrested Sunday night following the deadly shooting at a Quebec City mosque is a suspect in the attack.

Bangladesh
Petition for ban on 3 Indian TV channels rejected
[Dhaka Tribune] The High Court has rejected a writ petition filed challenging the legality of airing three Indian television channels in Bangladesh.

The bench of Justice Moyeenul Islam Chowdhury and Justice JBM Hassan passed the order on Sunday morning.

The channels are Star Jalsha, Star Plus and Z Bangla.

Lawyer Syeda Shaheen Ara Laily filed the petition in October 2014, looking for a directive from the High Court to stop airing these channels in Bangladesh.

On the other hand, local radical Islamist parties and groups allege that the serials aired in those Indian TV channels are contrary to Islamic values and create chaos in Bangladeshi families.

In 2014, several girls did away with themselves across Bangladesh as their parents refused to buy them "Pakhi" (bird in English) dresses, a special costume used by a popular character in a drama serial named Bojhena She Bojhena on Star Plus. Moreover, on some occasions brawl over watching these channels often turn into violent festivities, according to media reports.

China-Japan-Koreas
U.S. entry of N. Korean refugees put on hold by Trump's executive order
U.S. President Donald Trump's executive order barring refugees from entering the country also extends to North Koreans fleeing from one of the most repressive regimes in the world, a U.S. media agency said Sunday.

The Voice of America said North Korean refugees are not allowed to enter the United States at least for four months as the executive order places a 120-day moratorium on the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program (USRAP).

Under the 2004 North Korean Human Rights Act, North Korean escapees can attain refugee status in the U.S.

During the four months, the U.S. authorities will "review the USRAP application and adjudication process to determine what additional procedures should be taken to ensure that those approved for refugee admission do not pose a threat to the security and welfare" of the country, according to the order.

But the impact will remain minimal since there are not many North Korean refugees, the report quoted Suzanne Scholte, the chair of the North Korea Freedom Coalition and vice co-chair of the U.S. Committee for Human Rights in North Korea, as saying.

From 2006 until the end of last year, the number amounted to 211, which translates to some 20 a year.
So it's not a big deal. Most of the NK refugees end up in South Korea.

Aussie Treasurer: Trump travel ban shows 'world is catching up' to Australia
Scott Morrison has declined to criticise Donald Trump’s contentious travel ban, saying it is up to the United States to determine its border control arrangements, and noting the rest of the world is now “catching up” with Australia’s harsh deterrence policies.

Morrison, a former immigration minister, suggested to Sydney radio host Ray Hadley he empathised with the US president Donald Trump, who is facing a fierce backlash against his controversial executive order banning travel to the US from seven Muslim-majority countries.

“I remember when we came in in 2013 and I was implementing our border protection policy people threw their hands up – and I said I’m doing what I said I would do in the way I said I’d do it – and guess what, I’m now getting the results I said I’d get,” Morrison told Hadley during their weekly Monday morning chat.

“And we did that as a government, and we’ve continued that as a government, and we are the envy of the world when it comes to strong border protection policies.

“The rest of the world would love to have our borders and the way they are secured and the immigration arrangements we have put in place, particularly most recently, over the last three or four years.

“We’ve got a good history around this. Really, the rest of the world is catching up to Australia.”

Morrison refused to condemn Trump’s policy, which has sparked protests, a legal challenge and criticism in the US and internationally.

Australia’s treasurer said Trump was doing what he said he would do during the presidential race. “Now how the US wants to handle [border protection] is a matter for them. As you say, they’ve had an election, and the president is implementing what he said he would do.”

The foreign minister, Julie Bishop, has reportedly indicated Australia will support Donald Trump’s “strong immigration and border protection policies”.

“The Australian government is working very closely with the administration and the US officials and we want to ensure that Australians continue to have access to the United States, as they have in the past, and people from the United States have access to Australia,” Bishop is reported to have said in Los Angeles.

India-Pakistan
CIA papers: China's nuke assistance to Pakistan
[Times of India] Recently declassified CIA files testify to the depth of the Pakistan-China military relationship built over decades and also highlights how Beijing was willing to risk its own nuclear cooperation with US to boost the nuclear ambitions of 'all weather friend' Pakistan.

In the files, the US notes that China did not ask Pakistan to open its nuclear installations to IAEA inspections, after inking a nuclear agreement with the latter. The text of the agreement is pretty anodyne, focusing on non-military nuclear technology, radio-isotopes, medical research and civilian power technology. By this, the US notes, China wanted to develop a nuclear export market in Pakistan in "nonsensitive" areas. This would "reassure" countries like US which were apprehensive about Pakistan's nuclear designs.

By 1983-84, it had become alarmingly clear to the US that the China-Pakistan nuclear cooperation went much deeper. In February 1983, a US congressional committee was informed by the CIA that the US had proof China and Pakistan were talking nuclear weapons manufacture. CIA also stated they knew China had handed over the design of a nuclear bomb tested by China in Lop Nor, which incidentally was its fourth nuclear test and during which, US believed, a "senior Pakistani official" was present.

The US suspected China had handed over enriched uranium to Pakistan as well. Basically it meant that China had not only handed over the design of the bomb to Pakistan, it had also given the necessary material.

Jenin teen killed in clash with Israeli troops
[IsraelTimes] Israeli troops shot and killed a Paleostinian teen and injured five others who clashed with them Sunday, Paleostinian police said.

The violence began after Israel Defense Forces units entered the camp and were met by protesters who hurled rocks and bombs at the soldiers, an IDF spokeswoman said. The soldiers then opened fire.

Mohammed Abu Khalifa was killed and five others injured in the exchange, according to Paleostinian media accounts.

His age was given in some accounts as 17 and some as 19.

"Faced with immediate danger, the soldiers fired at the main instigators of the violence," the IDF spokeswoman told AFP.

None of the soldiers were hurt, she added.

According to the Hebrew-language Ynet news site, members of Abu Khalifa’s extended family, suspected of being members of the Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood, terror group, were locked away

last week in raids by Israeli security forces.

During one of those arrest operations, an IDF soldier was lightly injured after an explosive was thrown at troops.
