Things I don't mind subsidizing - Cholora treatment 99.9% effective

#1  A treatment protocol so effective that it saves 99.9 percent of all victims

I don't mind spending America's wealth on this. Stockpiling meds that work and giving them away to prevent horrible illnesses like this has made the world a better place and sent Smallpox to the extinction bin. A good legacy to leave to our children.

#2  I'm ambivalent - we're still the 'worst nation on earth' in many (commie / leftist / Marxist) people's eyes. Half the time I realize these are good measures and are essential to fight the bullshit, and the other half of the time I realize facts don't matter to an increasing number of people who live in Dumbfuckistan.

#6  @#2, it is tempting to think, "Well instead of hoping everyone is ok, get out and help."

There are so many ways a for a Good Samaritan to end up on the patient list, especially initially concerning electricity. Everyone loves the story about the mom who turns into The Hulk and lifts the car off of the child, but there is broken glass, nails, sheared metal. It really is an equipment oriented exercise, beginning with really good boots and thick gloves.

I can't say don't; I'm the dumbass going around helping as soon as I check on the family. There is plenty to without getting too deep - clearing roads (watch for power lines, and they are always live even if they are not), checking damaged vehicles, structures for occupants, water and food to rescuers, even just helping calm people cuz it fn sux.

#9  One of those videos from New Orleans of the tornado had a Trojan in the TV station's video page. WTF? Luck for me it doesn't work in Linux. Idiots.
I didn't post that page here.
Posted by: 3dc || 02/07/2017 17:29 Comments || Top||

#10  Certainly not tornado rated.

If that is debris in the video and not water droplets doing funny things on the window, this thing was throwing around some big items.

Think of the videos where somebody drives into a store or someone's house. Those cars are not moving very fast to go through that wall or window.

Along with wind and pressure changes, it can get pretty nasty down there. Collection of Greensburg Tornado Pictures has a pic of (claimed) aluminum screen door molding impaled into a tree.

The way that metal is twisted would indicate a nasty one, at least at the point of contact. I know basements are not much of an option in that area, so let's call it why we find a significant structure and get as far away from windows as possible.

Winston Churchill, Anti-German Hate Group Leader
h/t Instapundit
What if World War II had been reported the way the establishment media writes about the global jihad today? The question is pertinent in light of the ongoing demonization of Trump adviser Steven K. Bannon, who is now being vilified by establishment media for a ten-year-old unproduced film project discussing the jihad threat.

Matea Gold of the Washington Post described the film in lurid terms:

The flag fluttering above the U.S. Capitol is emblazoned with a crescent and star. Chants of "Allahu Akbar" rise from inside the building.
That’s the provocative opening scene of a documentary-style movie outlined 10 years ago by Stephen K. Bannon that envisioned radical Muslims taking over the country and remaking it into the "Islamic States of America," according to a document describing the project obtained by The Washington Post.

Hate-mongering! Fear-mongering!

Right?

...Imagine if this were 1930, and the Southern Poverty Law Center existed, and it issued a lavishly illustrated, meticulously "documented" report on critics of the Nazis, dubbing them "anti-German hate group leaders."

They would include profiles of Winston Churchill, Edgar Mowrer, and other early critics of Hitler, noting when each had made false claims about Hitler -- false, that is, according to the Nazis -- and charging them with "hate" and "anti-German bias."

How a U.S. team uses Facebook, guerrilla marketing to peel off potential ISIS recruits
[WAPO] Sometime today, a teenager in Tunis will check his smartphone for the latest violent video from the Islamic State. But the images that pop up first will be of a different genre: young Muslims questioning the morality of terrorists who slaughter innocents and enslave girls for sex.

"Don’t you kill our own Muslim brothers?" a mop-haired youth asks a terrorist recruiter in one animated video showing up on Arabic Facebook accounts in North Africa. "So much of this, it doesn’t seem right."

The video is one of several paid ads that are turning up on millions of cellphones and computer screens in countries known to be top recruiting grounds for the Islamic State. The ads offer a harrowing view of life inside the self-proclaimed caliphate, sometimes with photos or cartoons and often in the words of refugees and defectors who warn others to stay away.

Republican Lawmakers Yet to Deliver Early Wins for Trump

When the 115th Congress arrived Jan. 3, the majority had an ambitious agenda. With Republicans in control of the House and Senate, and soon the White House, it was the first time in 10 years they could advance their policy agenda unobstructed by Democrats.

Yet a month later, the GOP-led Congress has produced just three bills for President Donald Trump to sign: a waiver allowing retired Marine Gen. James Mattis to serve as defense secretary, a joint resolution repealing the Obama administration’s stream protection rule, and another resolution reversing a Securities and Exchange Commission rule pertaining to energy companies.

Republicans have delayed action on campaign promises such as repealing Obamacare and defunding Planned Parenthood.

In the Senate, Republicans are struggling to overcome Democrat delays in confirming Trump’s Cabinet nominees.

...

In 2009, Obama signed into law three significant bills passed by the Democrat-led Congress. They included the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, a $787 billion economic stimulus package; the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, which proponents said would end pay discrimination against women; and the Children's Health Insurance Program Reauthorization Act, which provided states with new funding and programming for children's health care coverage through Medicaid.

The Most Destructive Institution In American Life
h/t Instapundit
There’s something perverse about an ideology that views the disposing of a child in the third trimester of pregnancy as an indisputable right but the desire of parents to choose a school for their kids as "zealotry." Watching Donald Trump’s pick for education secretary, Betsy DeVos, answer an array of frivolous questions was just another reminder of this warped worldview.

Many liberals, for instance, tell us that racism is one of the most pressing problems in America. And yet few things have hurt African Americans more over the past 40 years than the inner-city public school system. If President Obama is correct, and educational attainment is the key to breaking out of a lower economic strata, then no institution is driving inequality quite as effectively as public schools.

#6  Going from 4th to 5th gen fighters is a much bigger leap than going from 3rd (F-4) to 4th gen (F-15) and we've used the F-15 to establish unquestioned air superiority for the last 40 years. The 5th gen capability leap is like going from props to jets.

The problem now is if we can only afford X number of -35s, and the enemy has X number of aircraft +1

This year's LRIP10 F-35A flyaway production price is $94.6 million and it is still 2 years from full production and ~$85 million flyaway.

Planned number US F-35s: ~2400
Planned number of PAK-FA: ~150-200
Likely lifetime F-35 production: ~4000

'Leftist Fight Club' trains UCF students to fight Republicans
[CampusReform] The "Knights for Socialism"
AKA National Socialism
group at the University of Central Florida (UCF) held a workshop Sunday to teach left-wing students how to "BASH THE FASH" with a "Leftist Fight Club" open to everyone but Republicans.
How... fascist of you.
"In response to the record number of hate crimes against Latinxs, Immigrants, Muslims, Women, the LGBTQIA+ community, Jews, African Americans and other minorities since the rise of Donald Trump and other Alt-Right Neo-Nazis, Knights for Socialism has decided to host a series of self-defense clinics for anyone that wants to learn how to BASH THE FASH," asserts the Facebook event page for "Leftist Fight Club: The Rumbles at Lake Claire."
99% of all those "crimes" have been fake and staged by your fellow fascists
The description explains that a local amateur boxer was on hand to teach basic hand-to-hand combat techniques at the self-defense clinic, in order to help the socialist students better protect themselves from potential hate crimes performed by those sympathetic to Donald Trump and other Alt-Right Neo-Nazis."
Amateur boxer... aka guy who gets in the ring and gets his ass kicked a lot. Stick a mixed martial arts guy in there and the "boxer" will run like a coward.
After the instruction, students were given the opportunity to practice what they learned by sparring with one another.
Fortunately, I'm a libertarian and would love to show these little shits how to properly disable and maim someone as quickly as possible.

Britain
POTUS Not Welcome in UK Parliament, Speaker of the House Says (Video)
[ABC] The speaker of the British House of Commons was greeted with cheers today after he announced his opposition to President Trump addressing Parliament during his state visit to the U.K.

Speaker John Bercow pointed to Trump’s recent executive order barring citizens from seven Muslim-majority nation from travelling to the U.S. as part of the reason he could not support a Trump address.

"I would not wish to issue an invitation to President Trump to speak in the Royal Gallery," Bercow said during a session of Parliament, citing the body’s "opposition to racism and to sexism and our support for equality before the law and an independent judiciary."

Prime Minister Theresa May invited Trump to make a state visit during her meeting with the leader in Washington last month. The invitation has attracted significant controversy back in the U.K., one of the U.S.’s most important global allies.

A petition calling for the invitation to be rescinded garnered 1.8 million signatures and is now set to be debated in Parliament later this month. Thousands of demonstrators flooded the streets of London and other cities across the U.K. last week to protest Trump’s executive order. An estimated 10,000 protesters demonstrated in front of 10 Downing St., the prime minister's residence, chanting "shame on May" and other slogans opposing the invitation.

Behind the Kimono - GOP gets bolder in breaking with Trump
[The Hill] Congressional Republicans are becoming more critical of President Trump amid the shaky rollout of his executive order on immigration and the lack of clear progress on his legislative agenda.

The rising tensions between both ends of Pennsylvania Avenue come at a critical time in the Trump presidency, when major decisions on taxes, healthcare and the budget need to be made.

Trump’s criticism of a Republican-appointed federal judge and his praise of Russian President Vladimir Putin over the weekend have rubbed some Republicans the wrong way. Those members, including Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), have sought to put some daylight between the policies and priorities of the GOP-led Congress and the new administration.

And in the very same issue of the Hill:

Clinton's Top Lawyer Joins Soros-Funded Super PAC to Fight Voting Laws
[Free Beacon] The top lawyer for Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign has joined the board of a major Democratic Super PAC funded by liberal billionaire George Soros to lead its efforts against state voting laws.

Marc Elias, a partner at the D.C.-based Perkins Coie law firm who is the go-to fixer for Democrats, has joined the board of Priorities USA Action, the largest liberal Super PAC that threw its weight behind Hillary Clinton.

Priorities tapped Elias as the group prepares to shift its focus on pushing back against state-level Republican efforts dealing with voting laws, CNN reports. Priorities will also absorb Every Citizen Counts, a nonprofit created by Clinton allies that focused on mobilizing Latino and African American voters.

Elias will spearhead Priorities USA's challenges against the voting laws from their nonprofit arm. The group is building a national database "that's intended to serve as a one-stop inventory of restrictive voting measures which will be shared with other progressive organizations," CNN reported. Additionally, Priorities plans to beef up its staff as it prepares to launch advocacy campaigns centered on their challenges.

#1  "Against state voting laws"
Elias, an attorney at Perkins Coie, is involved with the Ohio Organizing Collaborative beginning in May when he filed a lawsuit on its behalf to challenge the state’s voter identification laws. Now the group is being investigated by the Ohio Bureau of Criminal investigation after a local board of elections alleged that 25 to 30 of the voter-registration applications that the group submitted appeared to be fraudulent.

Dave Johnson, vice-chairman of the Columbiana County Board of Elections, said that the board contacted the sheriff’s office once they began noticing frequent problems with the registrations submitted by the Ohio Organizing Collaborative.

City Of Boston Snubs Patriotic Group From The New England Patriots
[GP] The End Zone Militia for the New England Patriots are being snubbed for the Patriot’s victory parade on Tuesday.

Members of the End Zone Militia were told by the City of Boston that they cannot participate in the victory parade for the Superbowl Champions.

Fox 25 Boston reports that two years the End Zone Militia walked the route leading a duck boat.

The End Zone Militia is hoping that the City of Boston changes it’s mind before the parade.

Is it possible that the City of Boston is snubbing the group because they have muskets, are too patriotic, and are deemed offensive to liberals? What ever the reason, it is likely to be politically motivated.

Leftists don’t merely disagree with you. They don’t merely feel you are misguided. They don’t think you are merely wrong. They hate you. They want you enslaved and obedient, if not dead. Once you get that, everything that is happening now will make sense. And you will understand what you need to be ready to do.

You are normal, and therefore a heretic. You refuse to bow to their idols, to subscribe to their twisted catechisms, to praise their false gods. This is unforgivable. You must burn.

And the frightening thing is that the Left is so foolish, so stuck in its bubble that it has no understanding that it can only push so far before the people with all the guns and all the training push back.

(Sigh)

There are plenty of supporters of the left who have guns. See the Crips, Bloods MS-13, narrcos, radicalized Muslims, etc.

And a lot of these people are already embedded and experienced in functioning in the urban terrain that would likely be Ground Zero of a civil conflict.

Furthermore, thus far, it's only been the Left that has demonstrated any will to act.

Lev Davidovich Bronstein didn't have any formal military training either, and he did all right in 1917-1922, didn't he? (With help from former Tsarist professionals, but he was still the man that made the final decisions)

These delusions that the Left have no weapons, nor any ability to learn on the fly, will lead to a fatal complacency on our part.

By all means, be ready and have no illusions about the Left -- but that includes having no illusions about their capabilities and willingness to use them.

Shin Bet: Hamas terror cell uncovered in West Bank
[IsraelTimes] The Shin Bet security service reveals it uncovered an alleged Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth", terror cell in the Hebron area, which planned to carry out kidnapping, shooting and IED attacks in Israel.

The cell had begun collecting intelligence on a number of locations, including a synagogue in Zichron Ya’akov and the Binyamina central bus station.

According to the Shin Bet, the cell members gathered the information on the targets while they were employed in Israel without legal work permits.

The two central suspects in the case are brothers Hassan Sami Hassan Zidat, 23, and Muhammad Sami Hassan Zidat, 25, the Shin Bet says. Both of the men are residents of Bani Na’im, outside Hebron.

The alleged Hamas operatives purchased weapons, created improvised bombs and convinced other Paleostinians to assist them in their plans, the Shin Bet says.

Hassan, who was convicted of murder by the Paleostinian Authority, served as head of the cell, while his brother acquired the weapons, the Shin Bet says.
Ynet adds:
Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, higher ups passed on instructions to field operatives via Facebook.

IDF: strikes on Gaza a response to Hamas rocket and shootings, also last month’s events
[Ynet] IDF issues statement declaring that pounding of Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth", targets is a retaliation for last month’s events and Monday’s attacks from Gazoo in which a rocket was fired at the Hof Ashkelon region of Israel, and Hamas forces opened fire on an IDF force working near the border fence; Netanyahu: ’There’s no way that someone can shoot at us and we don’t respond.’

IDF tanks and aircraft destroyed a total of six Hamas positions throughout the day Monday, after a rocket was fired toward the Hof Ashkelon area in the morning and Hamas forces opened fire on an IDF force working near the Gazoo border fence in the southern Gazoo Strip in the evening.

According to the IDF Spokesperson's Unit, no damage or injuries were caused by the rocket. Forces were dispatched to the site of its landing to search for remnants.

Later in the day, in response to further Hamas small arms attacks on IDF forces operating near the border fence in the southern Gazoo Strip, IDF tanks destroyed a Hamas observation post, bringing the total number of Hamas positions destroyed by the IDF on Monday to six.

Shortly afterwards, Paleostinian sources reported that tanks fired two shells at a Hamas lookout post adjacent to Beit Lahiya on the Israel‐Gazoo border, which destroyed the post. The IDF confirmed the attack.

Prime Minister Benjamin, who on Monday visited British Prime Minister Theresa May in London, commented on the heated border events.

"I have instructed in no uncertain terms that we will respond to all shooting with heavy fire. That has been my policy over the last two years, since Protective Edge...Out policy is consistent and determined in our response," the prime minister said.

"There is no way that someone can shoot at us and we don’t respond. We cannot constantly absorb (hits) and overlook them."

Several hours later, Israeli Air Force planes attacked three additional targets belonging to Hamas's armed wing east of Jabalia. The IDF confirmed that both the tank and aerial strikes were in response to the earlier rocket. Its Spokesperson's Unit commented, "The IDF considers the Hamas terrorist organization solely responsible for goings-on in the Gazoo Strip."

By 8pm Monday, the IDF released another statement saying that the strikes were not only carried out in retaliation for the day's attacks from Gazoo, but also for acts of aggression which have taken place over the course of the last month.

IDF arrests man after crossing into Israel from Gaza with a knife

[Ynet] IDF soldiers captured a Paleostinian after crossing the border from Gazoo on Monday evening. Upon conducting a body search, the soldiers found a knife and a screwdriver. The suspect has been taken in for questioning.

Libya Rescues 120 Migrants Off Tripoli Coast
[AnNahar] More than 120 migrants colonists including women and kiddies were rescued by Libyan coastguards Sunday off the coast of Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
after their boat ran into trouble.

The migrants colonists set off Friday from Sabratha -- a town 70 kilometers (45 miles) west of Libya's capital that has become a staging ground for traffickers -- but their boat's engine failed, a coastguard official said.

An AFP photographer at the scene of the rescue said the vessel was intercepted by a coastguard patrol boat around 20 nautical miles northeast of Tripoli.

The official said those on board were of various African nationalities and included 10 women and five children, including a baby.

Libya said on Saturday it had intercepted more than 400 migrants colonists bound for Europe in recent days.

The announcement followed a meeting of European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
leaders in Malta where they agreed moves to curb mass migration from Libya.

The plan includes funding and training Libya's coastguard to make it better able to intercept migrant boats and helping neighboring countries to close routes into Libya, according to a draft statement seen by AFP.

Lawlessness in Libya since a 2011 uprising that ousted longtime strongman Muammar Qadaffy
...a reminder that a single man with an idea can change an entire nation, usually for the worse...
has allowed smuggling networks to develop a lucrative trafficking trade.

Italia's coastguard said Thursday that more than 1,750 migrants colonists had been rescued in the Mediterranean within 24 hours.

Around 230 people have died en route to Europe since the start of 2017, according to the United Nations

Not ‘Lone Wolves' After All: How ISIS Guides World's Terror Plots From Afar
A small taste:
[NYTimes] HYDERABAD, India — When the Islamic State identified a promising young recruit willing to carry out an attack in one of India’s major tech hubs, the group made sure to arrange everything down to the bullets he needed to kill victims.

For 17 months, terrorist operatives guided the recruit, a young engineer named Mohammed Ibrahim Yazdani, through every step of what they planned to be the Islamic State’s first strike on Indian soil.

They vetted each new member of the cell as Mr. Yazdani recruited helpers. They taught him how to pledge allegiance to the terrorist group and securely send the statement.

And from Syria, investigators believe, the group’s virtual plotters organized for the delivery of weapons as well as the precursor chemicals used to make explosives, directing the Indian men to hidden pickup spots.

Until just moments before the arrest of the Indian cell, here last June, the Islamic State’s cyberplanners kept in near-constant touch with the men, according to the interrogation records of three of the eight suspects obtained by The New York Times.

As officials around the world have faced a confusing barrage of attacks dedicated to the Islamic State, cases like Mr. Yazdani’s offer troubling examples of what counterterrorism experts are calling enabled or remote-controlled attacks: violence conceived and guided by operatives in areas controlled by the Islamic State whose only connection to the would-be attacker is the internet.

In the most basic enabled attacks, Islamic State handlers acted as confidants and coaches, coaxing recruits to embrace violence. In the Hyderabad plot, among the most involved found so far, the terrorist group reached deep into a country with strict gun laws to arrange for pistols and ammunition to be left in a bag swinging from the branches of a tree.

In historic first, Israel legalizes West Bank outposts with sweeping new legislation
[IsraelTimes] Controversial law recognizing building on private Paleostinian land passes final Knesset votes by 60 to 52, despite warnings it could land Israel in international court.

"The chance that it will be struck down by the Supreme Court is 100 percent," Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman said last week.
Following months of coalition wrangling, damning criticism from internal and international opposition, and bleak warnings from legal experts, Israel on Monday legalized all West Bank outposts with sweeping legislation that aims to prevent future demolitions of settler homes built on private Paleostinian land.

In a late-night session, the Knesset passed the final readings of the controversial so-called Regulation Bill, which paves the way for Israel to recognize some 4,000 illegally built settler homes.

#1  Bad move, Kelso with D-8s.
Posted by: Shipman || 02/07/2017 8:25 Comments || Top||

#2  Honestly, I have deep reservations about this because it appears to be an Israeli version of the Kelo case allowing government entities to seize private land using eminent domain, only to turn it over to other private entities under the guise of "increasing tax revenues".

On the other hand, the West Bank was formerly part of Jordan, technically a Kingdom where private property "rights" are subject to the whim of the monarch: I recall a time where Jews attempted the process of legally buying back the land from individual Arab owners, only for such sales to be banned by Muslim/Arab "governments".

Add to this the questionable process of determining if Palestinian land is actually privately owned: I can see where Palestinians would like a very watered down standard that boils down to, "It's mine because I say its mine." But then again, Islam already says that about Spanish land conquered

Would be nice to have Kelo effectively declared "internationally unconstitutional", if only to see the Left twist itself into knots to hold to the one and deny the other...

my understanding was at one of these places Palestinians had sold their land to Jews, but the supreme court had ruled that Jordanian Law applied and by Jordanian law Jews cannot own land, so the sales were illegal and the land was still Palestinian.
This law is in reaction to that decision.

ISIS trafficking in human organs

[al-Manar] The ISIL Takfiri group is trafficking in stolen human organs in Mosul after losing funding, local source in Nineveh told Sumaria Iraqi Television.

The Takfiri group is extracting organs of 45 patient people in hospitals across the right bank of Tigris River in Mosul, the source said, adding that among these injured whose organs are being stolen are militants from the terrorist group itself.

“Some of the patients in hospitals in the right bank of Mosul were surprised to find out that their kidneys are stolen after undergoing surgeries,” the source told Sumaria.

“This thing happened to some injured ISIL militants whose organs were stolen by some doctors recruited by the Takfiri group,” according to the source.

The number of people whose organs were stolen for trafficking reached 45, based on available data, the source said, noting that ISIL is dealing gangs specialized with organ theft.

ISIS forces holed up in al-Bab
[al-Manar] The ISIL group is “completely besieged” in its last major stronghold in Syria’s Aleppo province, a monitor said Monday, as the Syrian army and allies piled pressure on the ‘jihadists’ on several fronts.

ISIL fighters were cut off in Al-Bab after the Syrian army and allies severed a road into the northern town, the UK-based opposing Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported.

“Al-Bab is now completely besieged by the Syrian army and allies from the south, and the Turkish forces and armed groups from the east, north and west,” said the Britain-based monitor.

It came after ” the Syrian army and allies seized the only and last main road used by the ‘jihadists’ between Al-Bab and Raqa,” Observatory chief Rami Abdel Rahman told AFP, referring to the ISIL de facto capital in Syria.

The town of Al-Bab, 25 kilometers (15 miles) south of the border with Turkey.

Nearly two-thirds of US Navy’s strike fighters can’t fly
The U.S. Navy’s F/A-18 Hornet and Super Hornet strike fighters are the tip of the spear, embodying most of the fierce striking power of the aircraft carrier strike group. But nearly two-thirds of the fleet’s strike fighters can’t fly — grounded because they’re either undergoing maintenance or simply waiting for parts or their turn in line on the aviation depot backlog.

Overall, more than half the Navy’s aircraft are grounded, most because there isn’t enough money to fix them.

Additionally, there isn’t enough money to fix the fleet’s ships, and the backlog of ships needing work continues to grow. Overhauls — “availabilities” in Navy parlance — are being canceled or deferred, and when ships do come in they need longer to refit. Every carrier overall for at least three years has run long, and some submarines are out of service for prolonged periods, as much as four years or more. One submarine, the Boise, has lost its diving certification and can’t operate pending shipyard work.

Patriots Super Bowl Win Sparks Torrent of Racial Hate: 'I hate seeing white people happy'
The New England Patriots’ astonishing comeback victory in the Super Bowl Sunday night unleashed a torrent of anti-white racial hatred on Twitter. It would seem the Left has done such a thorough job of fomenting divisive racial identity politics that a football team with a white head coach and a white quarterback can’t win a game without eliciting rage on social media. Behold the vitriol:

"Only white people can win in Trump’s America," tweeted user Saabreen Ahmed.
"This hurts, white supremacy just can’t keep winning"

"I hate seeing white people happy bruh, I’m so annoyed," tweeted another user.

"White people stay winning smh," echoed yet another.

"White people been showing y'all that they're in control very aggressively lately. Donald Trump winning. The Patriots winning smh," echoed another.

"In the year of Trump, the white people stay winning. Oh well, there's always next year," tweeted one user who goes by the name "Hurricane Matthew."

#10  What I still want to know is how do you blow a 28-3 lead.

Chiefs blew a 38-10 lead in 2014 wildcard, mostly by losing at the line defensively which allowed Luck to pick about the pass coverage, which went into a sort of zone-contain don't give up the big play, but every completion went for an average of 10-15 yards.

But we went fishing that day, so I flipped the game on at about the 4th quarter, and really didn't watch until about 8:00 to go, so can't tell what happened here except the breaks went towards NE with the turnover and Edelman's fantastic catch; looked to me ATL was playing good ball, that one wide receiver made an amazing catch, just NE went super saiyan.

The unhinged did this to a lesser degree last year, and it is the NFLs fault for letting their sport turn into cultural entertainment.

Was walking through Berkley-on-Kaw back when Tebow was QB in a playoff game, was by a sports bar with the game on, and some hippy chick stopped and screamed at the TV, "F you Tebow!"

So in the Year of the Kapernack, does not surprise me about the fit, like a couple years ago it did not surprise me when my boy accidentally poo'd himself. Agree g(r)om, if they didn't have their finger in their nose, their head would be empty.

btw -- Boy reeled in the largest Trout I have ever seen on his My First Pole. Much better than some TV show. Shit, I almost forgot the game was on, and still was unsure who NE was playing.

It was all of the above, as well as Belichick's halftime adjustments. That's one of the things he does that other coaches can't do as well. Also - Atlanta ran the ball four freaking times in the 2nd half (not burning the clock), giving NE just enough time to make the comeback work.

#16  Here's how they lost a lead like that: they lost sight of the *winning*, and instead converted to trying "not to lose".

Their game plan for *winning* was excellent--they excelled at it.

Then, inexplicably, they threw that out the window and changed to a plan of "lets try not to lose".

That "plan" hadn't been worked on in the previous 2 weeks, nor did anyone really do well at it.

And they lost.

----
And while we're at it, San Francisco should fire their new head coach: there is no excuse for not running 2 more times and kicking the FG with less than 4 minutes left in the 4th quarter.

China sails warships near Senkaku Islands
Mattis vowed to defend for Japan

Three Chinese warships sailed near the contested Senkaku Islands Monday, in a rare move apparently sending a message to the U.S. just two days after President Trump’s defense secretary visited Japan and vowed to defend the islands.

The ships sailed within Japan’s territorial waters some 12 nautical miles off the islands in the East China Sea, roughly 140 miles northeast of Taiwan, a U.S. defense official told Fox News.

On his first overseas trip as defense secretary, Jim Mattis, speaking in Tokyo, said China “has shredded the trust” of countries in the region by building up man-made islands in the South China Sea. He also said the U.S. commitment to protect Japanese territory applied to its islands in the East China Sea. Mattis later called for all regional disputes over territory to be handled peacefully during a press conference alongside his Japanese counterpart, Minister of Defense Tomomi Inada.

The Chinese, who also lay claim to the Senkakus, call the uninhabited islands the Diaoyus. Japan has laid claim to the islands since the late 19th-century. China has claimed the islands since the end of World War II.

“I made clear that our long-standing policy on the Senkaku Islands stands. The U.S. will continue to recognize Japanese administration of the islands,” Mattis said. “As such, Article 5 of the U.S.-Japan Security Treaty applies.” Article 5 commits the U.S. to defend Japan or its territories if attacked.

Following Mattis’ pledge, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lu Kang said, “We urge the U.S. side to take a responsible attitude, stop making wrong remarks... and avoid making the issue more complicated and bringing instability to the regional situation.”

The three Chinese coast guard cutters were Haijing patrol boats with hull numbers 2302, 2305 and 2501, the U.S. official added.

Iraqi militia kills dozens of ISIS troops in Haditha

Anbar (IraqiNews.com) Al-Hashd al-Shaabi troops managed on Monday to kill dozens of the Islamic State’s members, after repulsing their attack on al-Siniyah area in Haditha in Anbar Province, Alsumaria News reported on Monday.

Al-Hashd al-Shaabi media office said in a statement, “Al-Hashd al-Shaabi managed to foil an attack launched by 100 members of the Islamic State, using large numbers of vehicles, on the forces from the army’s 6th brigade and 51st brigade in Haditha.”

“The troops were also able to kill a large number of the Islamic State’s members, as well as burning the vehicles used by the group,” the statement added.

Earlier today, security forces announced state of emergency in Haditha District in Anbar, after the sneaking of some terrorists.

12 ISIS fighters die in security operation

Anbar (IraqiNews.com) Twelve Islamic State militants were killed Monday when security forces launched an offensive on group-held routes west of Anbar, a pro-government militia commander said.

“Security forces and backing forces staged a security campaign that targeted Daesh (Islamic State) passageways that link desert areas east of Annah, west of Anbar, with Mosul,” Ikhnews reported, quoting Abdullah al-Jugheifi, a senior leader at al-Hashd al-Shaabi (Popular Mobilization Forces) in the province.

Jugheifi said the assault came following the escape of dozens of Islamic State members from Mosul to Syria via those routes.

Deaths among militants include two suicide attackers, two of them were foreigners, he said, adding that three vehicles belonging to the extremist group were destroyed in the offensive.

Islamic State have been holding a handful of towns in western Anbar since the group took over several Iraqi cities in 2014. No official campaigns have been declared yet to retake those areas as the government invests most of its troops power in retaking Mosul, the group’s biggest stronghold in Iraq.

Anbar’s security command, backed by tribal troops, launched early January a brief onslaught against the Islamic State in western Anbar. The campaign, which, unlike that in Mosul, was not officially declared by the cabinet, managed to retake a few villages before halting again.

ISIS executes 5 in Mosul

Nineveh (IraqiNews.com) An Iraqi army officer revealed on Monday that the Islamic State group executed five civilians in western Mosul for trying to escape toward the eastern side of the city.

Lieutenant Nayef al-Zubaidi said in a press statement, “Intelligence information declared that the Islamic State group executed five civilians for trying to flee from western Mosul toward the eastern side of the city.”

“The execution was carried out near the fifth bridge’s tunnel, in the presence of the extremist group’s leaders,” Zubaid added.

Furthermore, Islamic State called on the residents of western Mosul, through loud speakers, to practice fishing in the Tigris River to fight hunger, activist Lukman Omar Ta’i declared.

Ta’i said that the group called on for this solution after the spread of hunger among civilians in western Mosul.

Civilian refuses to pay tax, stabs ISIS officials
He still had until April 15th
Nineveh (IraqiNews.com) A local source in Nineveh Province revealed that a civilian refused to pay the so-called the caliphate tax then stabbed one of the Islamic State group’s members, in the center of Tal Afar market, west of Mosul, before being killed by the group’s members, Alsumaria News reported on Monday.

The source said, “A civilian refused to pay an extra tax, known as the caliphate support tax, which was imposed by the Islamic State group on shops’ owners in Tal Afar market, west of Mosul, then stabbed a militant from the extremist group with a knife.”

“The members of the Islamic State shot the civilian, killing him immediately amid popular unrest,” the source added on condition of anonymity.

The source also explained that the Islamic State duplicated the imposed tax on shops’ owners, to pay its members’ salaries.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Turkish artillery hits 3 villages in northern Syria
Kurdish officials on Monday accused the Turkish army of shelling the villages of Maranaaz, Vilat al-Qadi, Sheikh Issa east of Afrin district and entering Syrian territory. Turkish media confirmed the shelling.

“Turkish army and affiliated terrorists are heavily shelling east Efrin [Afrin] from Azaz city since Monday evening — the attacks continued until the moment,” the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) said in a statement.

The Turkish army has been bombarding Kurdish positions in Afrin district from the rebel-held areas of Marea and Azaz in Aleppo Governorate, in northwestern Syria.

It’s unclear if the shelling was a result of clashes between Kurdish fighters and Turkey-backed militants.

“Where is the ceasefire, if Turkish troops attack the People’s Protection Units in Efrin,” said Ilham Ahmed, a senior Kurdish official, calling on Russia to condemn the violations.

The Turkish army continues to build walls and enter the Syrian Kurdish border areas for weeks. Moreover, there have been constant bombardments of Kurdish positions near Efrin and Til Rifaat, according to local sources.

The Turkish government is building concrete walls under the pretext of stopping illegal crossings along the 900-kilometer borderline with Syria.

However, Kurdish officials in Syria say the wall is built to embargo the Kurdish-held territories in Syria.

In the meantime, a Turkish army convoy entered Azaz city this weekend.

The Turkish government has vowed that the Turkey-backed Euphrates Shield Operation in Syria –launched in August 2016– will continue in Manbij and Afrin, once al-Bab city is captured.

However, the Turkish army and Turkey-backed rebels in Syria are struggling with taking al-Bab from ISIS.

While Turkey and its allies fight ISIS in northern al-Bab, the Syrian army has continued its advance towards the city from the south in an operation launched three weeks ago.

The Turkish army has earlier said that ISIS was about to withdraw from al-Bab. However, the group continues to hold positions there.

Iraq
Iranian advisor dies in Mosul
[Asharq Al-Awsat] Erbil, London- Iran’s Revolutionary Guards confirmed on Sunday that Kheirallah Ahmadi Far, one of its commanders linked to the Nabi al-Akram Corps, was killed during battles with ISIS near the Iraqi city of Tal Afar west of Mosul.

The commander was operating in the area as an advisor to the Popular Mobilization Forces.

The semi-official Iranian Students News Agency ISNA quoted on Sunday head of the Revolutionary Guards PR official in the Kermanshah province Colonel Fardin Kahramani as saying that Ahmadi was killed during a military operation in Mosul, adding that his body would be transferred to Iran in the coming days.

Separately spokesperson for the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq Hamid Mueala, who attended the meeting between the visiting Shi’ite delegation headed by Ammar al-Hakim and the Kurdish President Masoud Barzani in Erbil last Saturday, said that the two sides have discussed the issue of Kurdistan’s independence.

It is premature to talk about such independence, he said, claiming the Kurds have recently proved that they are true partners in the political process.

Mueala told Rudaw TV on Sunday that the issue “was rather one of the topics stating that ‘if we did not reach satisfactory solutions [with Baghdad] which reflect the aspirations of the people of Kurdistan,’ then the issue of independence is one of the options that we may seek.”

Uhuru urged to withdraw KDF soldiers from Somalia
President Uhuru Kenyatta has been urged to withdraw Kenyan soldiers from Somalia, following a recent Al-Shabaab attack on a KDF camp that left 21 personnel dead.

Speaking during the burial of Rajab Baya Kazungu — one of the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) soldiers who was killed at Kulbiyow, Somalia — on Saturday at his Kinarani home in Kilifi County, mourners said it was time for the soldiers to protect the country’s borders from within.

Among those who attended the burial was Kaloleni MP Gunga Mwinga, area ward representative Pascal Thuva and a member of the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) Morris Dzoro.

A sombre mood engulfed the village as KDF soldiers carried the casket bearing the remains of Mr Kazungu around 3pm, bringing to and end the life of the soldier who married on December 3 before being deployed to Somalia. He was among four soldiers from the county who were killed in line of duty in Somalia.

Mr Gunga joined locals and other leaders who spoke in calling for the withdrawal of Kenyan soldiers from Somalia. “The President recently withdrew all the troops in Sudan. We would like to see the same happening now because we are not at war with Somalia,” he said.

Area MCA said it was saddening to see many soldiers being killed in a foreign land yet Mr Kenyatta, the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, seemingly paying little attention.

“We want our soldiers home and then the President can send a peace committee to Somalia,” said Mr Thuva.

“The deaths of our young soldiers in war front is saddening…let us maintain peace as the concerned departments address the concerns,” said Mr Dzoro.

On Thursday, Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi visited some of the affected families where in his condolences also called for immediate withdrawal of Kenyan soldiers from Somalia.

“Less than a year ago, Al-Shabaab militants launched an attack on a Kenyan-run AMISOM army base in the town of El Adde and killed many of our soldiers. Today, we meet here to mourn the deaths of our soldiers who perished in yet another terrorist attack from the same terrorist group. This must stop and it is only through withdrawing our soldiers from Somalia,” said Mr Kingi.

New Chinese medium-range missile makes latest appearance
A highly accurate Chinese ballistic missile capable of threatening U.S. and Japanese bases in Asia has made its latest appearance at recent Rocket Force drills. The medium-range DF-16 featured in a video posted last week on the Defense Ministry's website showing the missiles aboard their 10-wheeled mobile launch vehicles being deployed in deep forest during exercises over the just-concluded Lunar New Year holiday.

While the Rocket Force boasts an extensive armory of missiles of various ranges, the DF-16 fills a particular role in extending China's reach over waters it seeks to control within what it calls the "first-island chain."

First displayed at a Beijing military parade in 2015, the missile is believed to have a range of 1,000 kilometers (620 miles), putting it within striking distance of Okinawa, home to several U.S. military installations, as well as the Japanese home islands, Taiwan and the Philippines.

The two-stage DF-16 replaces the older, shorter range DF-11, with a final stage that can adjust its trajectory to strike slow moving targets and evade anti-missile defenses such as the U.S. Patriot system deployed by Taiwan.

It also carries up to three warheads weighing as much as a ton and carrying conventional high explosives or a nuclear weapon. Further increasingly its lethality, the missile is believed to be accurate to within as little as 5 meters (16 feet) of the target, similar to that of a cruise missile.

Iraq
2 ISIS troops die in explosion in Mosul
Nineveh (IraqiNews.com) Two Islamic State militants died on Monday while implanting explosives in western Mosul, while a third was arrested upon attempting to flee the city.

A local source in Nineveh said two militants died when explosive devices they were trying to plant in a house in Zanjili, a neighborhood at the city’s western section, went off.

Booby-trapping of houses, roads and civilians vehicles have been among the extremist group’s defensive techniques against Iraqi government and popular forces which have recaptured the eastern section of the city from IS since October. Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi discussed on Sunday final touches to security operations aimed at liberating the western side of Mosul, which is still under IS control.

Also on Monday, an IS member was caught trying to flee Mosul using a fake ID, according to a statement by the Interior Ministry. Spokesman Brigadier General Saad Maan said the militant was detected by intelligence and federal investigation teams. Interrogated, he confessed to have been involved in planting roadside bombs targeting security personnel.

Since the Iraqi government- backed by a U.S.-led coalition- launched a major offensive in October to retake Mosul from IS militants, several group members fled the city to neighboring Syria, or were executed by the group for attempting to escape the battlefield.

Police Seize Funds Transferred To Terrorists' Families By Hamas, Arrest 14
[JPOST] Two weeks after Paleostinian leadership announced it would allocate life stipends to the family members of a terrorist who killed four soldiers last month, police announced the confiscation of over NIS 200,000 provided by Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, to the families of seven other terrorists.

The Sunday night raid, carried out by Police and Border Police forces, targeted the homes of 14 suspects from east Jerusalem’s flashpoint neighborhoods Jabl Mukaber, Shuafat refugee camp, Ras-Almud and A-Tur.

According to police, all the suspects received compensation from Hamas following deadly attacks carried out, or planned by, bandidos snuffies in the capital dating back to 1994.

The unidentified family members incarcerated
... anything you say can and will be used against you, whether you say it or not...
are related to the following terrorists: Gasan Abu Jamil, who carried out the 2014 Har Nof synagogue attack, killing five; Ramdan and Fami Mashahra, who helped support and plan the murders of 19 Israelis in Gilo in 2002; Ayman Abbasi and Wisam Farg, who died in riots in Ras al-Amud in 2015; Imad Abbasi, imprisoned for involvement in unspecified terrorism; Hassan Nabi, who murdered Nachshon Waxman in 1994; and Imad Shaer, imprisoned for planning an attempted 2013 kidnapping.

"After several weeks of gathering intelligence, police focused their operations as part of a joint investigation on finances transferred by the terrorist organization Hamas to families of known bandidos snuffies at seven locations across east Jerusalem," said Police front man Micky Rosenfeld.

"Police searched their homes and confiscated over NIS 200,000 in Israeli and foreign currency, three vehicles, and arrested 14 of the immediate family members. Similar operations will continue in the near future," Rosenfeld explained, adding that ongoing police patrols will continue to prevent further terrorist attacks in the capital.

Last month, the PA and PLO designated the east Jerusalem terrorist Fadi al-Qunbar, who murdered four soldiers and maimed 17 others in the Armon Hanatziv truck attack, a "martyr," and said his children and wife would be compensated for life.

Monetary rewards for terrorism are consistent with the PA’s longstanding law, which guarantees members of dead terrorists’ immediate families, as well as imprisoned terrorists, steady payments from government coffers.

McConnell: No Federal Money for Investigating Voter Fraud
McConnell told CNN's Jake Tapper that, although there are instances of voter fraud, he believes that it's not "as widespread as Trump claims" and that combating voter fraud should be an issue "best left to the states" instead of the federal government.

"Election fraud does occur," he told CNN's State of the Union, adding that "there's no evidence that occurred in such a significant number that it would have changed the presidential election."

"I don't think we ought to spend any federal money investigating that. I think the states can take a look at this issue. Many of them have tried to tighten their voter rolls, tried to purge people who are dead," McConnell said.
As long as the Justice Department does not continue interfering the way it did under President Obama, the states will be able to handle it just fine. In quite a few of them True the Vote has already done yeoman's work for free.

#5  Until 2013 the Federal Government was in de-facto charge of elections in southern, which were predominately Democrat, states. In June 2013, in a huge blow to democracy perfectly rational decision, the U.S. Supreme Court struck down the coverage formula used for Section 5 of the VRA, which required jurisdictions with significant histories of voter discrimination to “pre-clear” any new voting practices or procedures, i.e., get federal approval from the Department of Justice, and show that they do not have a discriminatory purpose or effect.
Importantly, however, the 5-4 decision did not strike down Section 5 itself, leaving it to Congress to devise a new coverage formula. The ACLU is working with Congress to do just that.

Arabia
Yemen Raid Had Secret Target: Al Qaeda Leader Qassim Al-Rimi
[NBCNEWS] The Navy SEAL raid in Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of. Except for a tiny handfull of Jews everthing there is very Islamic...
last week had a secret objective -- the head of al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula
...the latest incarnation of various Qaeda and Qaeda-allied groups, including the now-defunct Aden-Abyan Islamic Army that boomed the USS Cole in 2000...
, who survived and is now taunting President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
in an audio message.

Military and intelligence officials told NBC News the goal of the massive operation was to capture or kill Qassim al-Rimi, considered the third most dangerous terrorist in the world and a master recruiter.

But while one SEAL, 14 al Qaeda gunnies and civilians including an 8-year-old girl were killed during a firefight, al-Rimi is still alive and in Yemen, multiple military officials said.

On Sunday, al-Rimi -- who landed on the U.S. most-wanted terrorist list after taking over al Qaeda's Yemen affiliate in 2015 -- released an audio recording that military sources said is authentic.

"The fool of the White House got slapped at the beginning of his road in your lands," he said in an apparent reference to the Jan. 29 raid.

It's not clear if al-Rimi was at the al Qaeda camp but escaped when SEAL Team 6 and Emirati commandos descended, if he happened to be elsewhere, or even if he was tipped off.

The White House -- which had declared the raid "a successful operation by all standards" -- had no comment Monday on his escape from death. The Pentagon also declined to comment.

Juan Zarate, a national security adviser in the Bush administration and an NBC News analyst, said that even though the raid did not neutralize al-Rimi, it could still yield smaller victories.

"Certainly if the goal is to capture the leader of Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, that didn't happen. It wasn't successful in that regard," he said.

"On the other hand, a number of al Qaeda leaders were killed, and al Qaeda was disrupted, at least in terms of that cell. They understand that the U.S. is willing to lean forward and perhaps they're being deterred or disrupted in their activities.

"And we may have collected incredibly valuable intelligence that will lead to further disruptions and further counterterrorism activities down the road."

Europe
Anger simmers in Greek colonist migrant camp over living conditions
A group of ungrateful Afghan refugees in Greece protested against their living conditions on Monday by chanting "Liar!" as they tried to block a minister from entering the former Athens airport terminal where they have been stranded for months.
Back to Pashtunistan for yez!
Children stuck inside the compound climbed up a metal gate while dozens of protesters pushed and shoved one another as they shouted "Go, Go!" at Migration Minister Yannis Mouzalas. One man handed him a crying child as he reached the chained gate.

About 1,600 refugees and migrants live at Hellenikon, a former airport complex that also houses abandoned venues used in the 2004 Olympic Games. Of those, 600 live in the old arrivals terminal, sharing tents in unsanitary conditions.

"We have a bad situation in this camp. It's like one year in jail," said an Afghan man who identified himself as Massoud.

Human rights groups, including Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch, have criticized conditions in Greece's makeshift and formal camps, describing them as deplorable and unfit for humans.

"The situation in Greece ... is still very concerning to us," said Monica Costa of Amnesty International, who is on a fact-finding mission at Greek camps this week.
Did Monica bring a check? No? Then she's useless...
"There are still thousands of people languishing in camps that are not prepared for long-term stay," she said.

Greece has long said it plans to clear out Hellenikon - which housed up to 3,000 refugees and migrants in scorching temperatures last summer - after agreeing to lease it to private investors under its bailout program.

"Hellenikon must be cleared out," Mouzalas reiterated on Monday.

The protesters were demanding better quality food, better sanitation facilities and hot water.

"I completely understand their pain and hardship. We are trying to ease it as much as we can," Mouzalas said.

About 60,000 refugees and migrants have been in Greece for nearly a year after border shutdowns throughout the Balkans halted the onward journey many planned to take to central and western Europe.

Costa said Amnesty researchers had observed "psychological deterioration, a lot of stress," in the camps, exacerbated by lengthy asylum procedures and uncertainty over the future.

Greek authorities have yet to determine the cause of death of three migrants who died within a week in one camp on the island of Lesbos this month.

"Since the closure of the Balkan route, this humanitarian crisis unfolded, and we have already said that this crisis was completely avoidable," Costa said.

Terror Networks
Al Qaeda’s Favorite President

[JACOBINMAG]
Where we go for unbiased reporting.
Shortly after Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
’s Election Day victory, many jihadists voiced their pleasure with the result: "Rejoice with support from Allah, and find glad tidings in the imminent demise of America at the hands of Trump," said one. Trump "reveals the true mentality of the Americans, and their racism toward Moslems and Arabs and everything. He reveals what his predecessors used to conceal. So his victory further exposes America and its appendages," said another.

Trump -- who pledged in his inaugural address to "unite the civilized world against radical Islamic terrorism" and "eradicate [it] completely from the face of the earth," as well as previously promising to "bomb the shit out of" ISIS and "take out" the families of Death Eaters -- likely sees himself as a staunch opponent of what he and the Right refer to as "Radical Islam."
He actually didn't say he was going to take out their families in his inaugural address.
But there’s at least one problem with his self-perception: Trump’s proposed policies would only strengthen, not hinder, ISIS and other krazed killer groups. Indeed, after Trump issued his executive order barring entry to the United States citizens of seven predominantly Moslem countries, jihadist groups "celebrated . . . saying the new policy validates their claim that the United States is at war with Islam," as Joby Warrick reported in the Washington Post.

In 2016, Mara Revkin and Ahmad Mhidi wrote in Foreign Affairs that "jihadists are rooting for a Trump presidency because they believe that he will lead the United States on a path to self-destruction." Based on analysis of ISIS chatter on social media and interviews with several current and former supporters, Revkin and Mhidi found four main reasons for their support:

First, Trump’s anti-Moslem rhetoric plays into ISIS’ narrative of a bipolar world in which the West is at war with Islam. Second, ISIS hopes that Trump will radicalize Moslems in the United States and Europe and inspire them to commit lone-wolf attacks in their home countries. Third, ISIS supporters believe that Trump would be an unstable and irrational leader whose impulsive decision-making would weaken the United States. And fourth, ISIS subscribes to the prophecy of a "Final Battle," to take place in the northern Syrian town of Dabiq, in which the caliphate will decisively triumph over its enemies.

#1  The problem with the popularity contest paradigm is that contestants will have to aim to please the judge in order to win the prize.

The contestants are the West and the 'terrorists'. The judge is the general Muslim populace. The prize is the Muslim populace's good will.

Net result: The Muslims impose their will on the West using the threat of asymmetrical war.

For the West accepting this paradigm is equivalent to surrender.

#5  We have been try to be nice to the bad guys and that amounts to rewarding them for being bad. Every time they do something gruesome we get a lecture on islamophobia, as if we had done it to them. Every time they attack Israel we lecture Israel to make concessions to them.
This is stupid policy.
When they take punishment for their badness they will reconsider.
The Turks ruled the Arabs for hundreds of years with no problems with them. They were not very nice, but they left the Arabs alone if they did not make trouble.
IF someone harmed someone outside his group the head of his village had to turn him in and watch him hang, or else get the bastinado himself.

Russia, Iran support restructuring of Hamas in Gaza

Meshaal had every reason to jump ship; he was a former member of the Moslem Brüderbund, which had swept elections in Egypt, Libya and Tunisia and was funded by his new host, Qatar, which was also the Syrian opposition's main backer.

Hamas figures started scrambling for a U-turn and sent a senior delegation to the 37th anniversary of the Khomeini revolution, where they met with the commander of the elite al-Quds Force, Maj.-Gen. Qassem Soleimani, while showering Iran with praise on Hamas-affiliated television and radio.

, was sent to his room by Pakistain on January 30, 2017. Then, just two days later, his name also appeared on the Exit Control list, restraining him from leaving the state. Four other JuD leaders and 38 associates linked with Jamaat-ud-Dawa

(JuD) and Lashkar-e-Taiba
...the Army of the Pure, an Ahl-e-Hadith terror organization founded by Hafiz Saeed. LeT masquerades behind the Jamaat-ud-Dawa facade within Pakistain and periodically blows things up and kills people in India. Despite the fact that it is banned, always an interesting concept in Pakistain, the organization remains an blatant tool and perhaps an arm of the ISI...
(LeT) were also detained under Section 11-EEE of Pakistain’s Anti-Terrorism Act 1977.

Saeed is believed to be the founder of terrorist outfit LeT but has repeatedly denied allegations that his charity (JuD) is merely a cover for the banned myrmidon outfit LeT, despite the United Nations
...an idea whose time has gone...
stressing otherwise.

The Mumbai attacks shook the Indian nation to its core and claimed 164 lives. It has since become another sore spot, adding to the list of outstanding unresolved issues between the two hostile neighbors. One major outstanding question was India’s demand for Pakistain to crack down on Hafiz Muhammad Saeed and LeT, the group behind the attacks.

Terror Networks
Women Can Be Terrorists, Too
[OpsLens] It was reported last week that US commandos conducted a raid in Yemen and came into contact with women. These highly-trained women were fighting alongside al-Qaida and engaged the commandos. This is a stark reminder that we should never become complacent when it comes to those around us.

In the past, terrorist organizations have also used women to carry out suicide attacks. Women are the perfect scapegoat for terrorists because they are rarely looked upon with suspicion. Some may be under the impression that women associated with terrorist organizations are docile and obedient. While this may be true, those aren’t exactly good qualities to have for women in that position. Make no mistake--there are plenty of innocent bystanders surrounding terrorist organizations. There are also willing participants who subscribe to the dangerous ideology these terrorists use to recruit. There are even groupies for these terrorist groups who aspire to gain a high status among the terrorists. Young girls run away from home to join these men that they meet online in hopes that they’ll be rewarded with a husband and money.

One of the biggest advantages for terrorists using women to do their dirty work is that most people don’t expect it. The element of surprise can be deadly when we underestimate that women work among terrorist groups. It’s also a common belief that most western men struggle with a moral dilemma when it comes to fighting against women. That proved not to be the case with US commandos over the weekend.

Women are often used by terrorists to freely move about; some men have even been known to dress as women to avoid detection. It’s also easier for women to conceal items under their clothes, like weapons or explosive devices. Given the cultural sensitivity surrounding this particular demographic, it would be considered indecent for strange males to search them. This is a weakness that can easily be utilized to cause serious harm. There are a group of citizens who know this all too well--veterans of our armed forces.

While it’s easy to place women in an untouchable category and always assume innocence, the world doesn’t work like that. Remaining vigilant and aware of your surroundings is something every citizen should do. Falling into the mindset that women can’t be dangerous or can’t carry out violent attacks is to be in denial.

While the US commandos operate as the silent professionals, something we should consider back at home is that headlines don’t always paint the complete picture. In a world where things can go wrong in an instant, they very often do for our armed forces. They find themselves in difficult situations not everyone is familiar with or can relate to. This is why a headline to the effect of "US Service Members Killed Women in Yemen" is sensationalism at its finest. Understanding that women participate in terrorist organizations is important. They can be anywhere in the world.

14 militants die in Sinai security operation
CAIRO: Egyptian soldiers killed 14 militants and arrested ten others in a raid in central Sinai, the military said on Monday.

The operation over the past five days destroyed three car bombs and 10 other explosive devices and seized weapons, communication devices and military clothing, the army spokesman added.

An Islamist insurgency in the Sinai Peninsula has gained pace since the military toppled President Mohamed Mursi of the Muslim Brotherhood, Egypt’s oldest Islamist movement, in 2013 following mass protests against him.

Sinai Province, the militant group behind the insurgency, pledged allegiance to Daesh in 2014 and has been accused of killing hundreds of soldiers and police since then.

Militant activity in central Sinai is less frequent than in its more restive north, where Islamic State attacks on military and police checkpoints are common. (Reporting by Ahmed Tolba)

[TIMESOFISRAEL] Paleostinian employees of a United Nations

refugee agency are continuing to use social media to support terror activities and spread anti-Semitism, despite a previous outcry over the issue, according to a report by a UN watchdog.

The UN Watch organization first raised the concerns about United Nations Relief and Works Agency workers’ comments posted to social media in an October 2015 report. On Sunday, it released a follow-up report showing screenshots from the Facebook pages of 40 UNRWA school employees across Gazoo, Leb, Jordan and Syria.

The posts "incite to Jihadist terrorism and anti-Semitism, including by posting Holocaust-denying videos and pictures celebrating Hitler," the report said.

On Sunday, UN Watch chief Hillel Neuer presented the report to a joint US Congressional subcommittee dealing with the UN, Israel and the Paleostinians.

UN Watch said it also sent letters on Sunday to UN chief António Guterres, US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, and US envoy to the UN Nikki Haley
...first woman to serve as Governor of South Carolina, and the second Indian-American governor in the country, after Bobby Jindal of Louisiana. At the age of 39, Haley is the youngest current governor in the U.S., a distinction formerly held by Jindal. She is a Republican, which really grates on the Dems...
, urging them "to take action and demand UN and UNRWA condemnation of the incitement, and the immediate termination of the implicated employees."

The US gave UNRWA -- which provides Paleostinian refugees in the Middle East with education, health care, and social services -- $380 million in 2015.

Chris Gunness, a spokesperson for UNRWA, told The Times of Israel in a statement that his organization was aware of the allegations against it, and was "looking into [them] as part of our ongoing commitment to maintaining the Agency’s neutrality."

Rocket artillery attack on Riyadh a message

The Yemeni forces spokesman General Sharaf Loqman said that launching a ballistic rocket onto the Saudi military base in west of the capital of Riyadh is included at no extra charge in the context of facing the strategy identified by Ansarullah leader Sayyed Abdel Malik Al-Houthi.

General Loqman added that the rocketry operation is a message sent to the Saudi leadership, vowing to reveal more military surprises in face of the US-backed war.

In a related context, the Yemeni military media broadcast a footage which shows the ballistic rocket (Burkan 2) being launched onto Riyadh.

A lid on Lashkar, Jaish takes jihadi centrestage in Pakistan
[Indian Express] The crowd had gathered for prayer on the last Friday in January at the Jamia Masjid Usmania -- it is one of three in the village of Gumtala in Pakistain Punjab
1.) Little Orphan Annie's bodyguard
2.) A province of Pakistain ruled by one of the Sharif brothers
3.) A province of India. It is majority (60 percent) Sikh and Hindoo (37 percent), which means it has relatively few Moslem riots....

-- in memory of a man whose only obituary records just a single name, Tahir, killed somewhere in India and buried in a grave with no headstone. "Islam is a world power and cannot be destroyed," the holy man who led the congregation said, "whoever tries to destroy it will be destroyed himself. He went on: "Jihad is the most important obligation of our faith."

In tehsil Yazman of Bahawalpur, another report records, the Jaish ideologue Abdul Rasheed delivered a Friday sermon, where he introduced the organization to the 400-strong congregation. The holy man spoke, it says, of the "painful story of the sufferings of the Moslem nation, and called on the people to join jihad to protect the people of the faith". "The lecture had a strange impact on the people," the report goes on, "and many promised to give active support to jihad."

Al-Shabab Executes Four ‘spies’ In Somalia
[NEWSWEEK] Somali bully boy group al-Shabaab
... the Islamic version of the old Somali warlord...
carried out four public beheadings on Sunday of men accused of spying on the group, according to residents in southern Somalia.
Golly. I hope they didn't get that guy named Mohammed. He's been really valuable.
The executions took place in Jamame, a town in Somalia’s southern Lower Juba region, following a trial in a Sharia court overseen by the group, al-Shabaab’s Regional Governor Mohammed Abu Abdalla told Rooters.

Abdalla added that the four men had "admitted they were spies" without elaborating on whom they were spying on behalf of. The group has previously executed members accused of spying for the Western-backed government in Mogadishu, Somalia’s capital, as well as the United States.

Al-Shabaab is waging an insurgency against the Mogadishu government and African Union

The group, which is considered to be the East African branch of global bully boy group al-Qaeda, has also conducted purges of its ranks of members believed to have offered allegiance to the Islamic State

Iraq
Baghdad Bomb and Bullet Bulletin

1 dead in bomb attack in Suweib

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) A civilian was killed and four others were wounded on Monday when an explosive device went off in southern Baghdad.

Alsumaria News quoted a security source as saying that the bomb was planted near a popular market in Suweib.

Violence surged in Iraq with the emergence of Islamic State militants who took over large areas of the country in 2014. Baghdad has been witnessing almost daily bombings targeting civilians and security personnel.

Nobody has claimed responsibility yet for the Monday bombing, but IS militants have said they had been responsible for several bloody explosions that hit the capital in the past months, bringing the governorate municipal and security officials under critics’ fire.

The United Nations Assistance Mission in Iraq (UNAMI) said violence in the country left 19000 casualties in nine months of 2016.

Observers believe Islamic State have begun to escalate attacks outside the city of Mosul, where the group has been losing ground and personnel since October, so as to relieve pressure by government forces on that front and to divert attention from group losses.

While losing Mosul could be the severest blow to the group’s existence in Iraq, some observers argue that attacks outside the province prove that the extremist group can still pose a security threat for all cities

Soros Funded Paul Ryan, Marco Rubio, Jeb Bush, John McCain, John Kasich, Lindsey Graham in 2016
The biggest recipient of Soros-connected cash in the GOP was none other than House Speaker Paul Ryan, who repeatedly attempted to undermine Trump over the course of the election. According to the records available online, the Soros firm's workers gave $10,800 to Ryan.
For Mr. Soros that's an insultingly small amount...
Included in that are two separate May 2, 2016, donations from David Rogers, a then-employee of Soros Fund Management who lives in New York City. Rogers left the Soros Fund Management firm right around that time.

[COURANT] Police jugged

protesters demonstrating against President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
's immigration restrictions and his proposal to build a wall along the Mexican border as the protesters blocked the Route 34 connector into New Haven Saturday afternoon.

Route 34 was closed for about 20 minutes as state police and the New Haven police removed about 100 to 200 protesters, according to the state police. While the protesters were being removed, they got in the way of an ambulance carrying a critically ill patient, state police said. The ambulance personnel had to perform an emergency medical procedure in the vehicle, police said.

Police said that they identified the leader as Norman Clement, and that when officers approached, he ran, knocking over other people before being apprehended, state police said. State police said Clement resisted arrest and was hit with pepper spray.

Clement, 66, a New Haven resident, was charged with inciting a riot, disorderly conduct, interfering with an officer and reckless used of the highway by a pedestrian. He was released on a $5,000 surety bond and is scheduled to appear in Superior Court in New Haven on Feb. 13.

during the protest, police said.

According to the New Haven Register, protesters said that their demonstration was peaceful and that police "appeared to be looking for a confrontation."

The Register reported that Attorney Patricia Kane, who was representing both Clement and Nate Blair, said "there was no violence on the part of any demonstrator."

Kane told The Register that Clement was hospitalized and Blair was released on a promise to appear in court and charged with disorderly conduct.

Kane said Clement "was targeted for some reason and treated very roughly. Basically, when told to get on the sidewalk [protesters] tried to comply.

#1  Unfortunately, they'll likely find a friendly judge who will just slap them on the wrists, like my hometown judge did to those punks that blocked I-93 in Milton two years ago.
