Stephen Miller Defends Trump's EO: ‘The Judiciary Is Not Supreme (Video)
[Daily Caller] Stephen Miller argued that a judge cannot singlehandedly strike down the president’s executive order on immigration because we "have equal branches of government in this country."

After a three-judge panel with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit unanimously ruled to reject the Justice Department’s request to lift a Seattle judge’s restraining order on President Trump’s immigration order this week, his senior policy adviser said that the judicial branch is "not supreme."

"The point I want to make to you, George, and the point I want to make to your listeners, is that we have equal branches of government in this country," Miller told George Stephanopoulos during an interview on "This Week" Sunday. "The judiciary is not supreme. A district judge in Seattle cannot force the President of the United States to change their laws and our constitution because of their own personal views."

"The president has the power under the INA, Section 212 F8 USC 82 F (ph) to suspend the entry of aliens when it’s in the national interest," Miller continued. "He has that same power under an Article 2 power to conduct to the foreign affairs of our country. And we will do whatever we need to do, consistent with the law, to keep this country safe."

Al-Shabaab Magazine: 'We'll Keep Marching Till We Reach the State of Maine'
There are parts of Maine where that would be a really bad idea.
[PJMedia] A news issue of Al-Shabaab's magazine calls on jihadists to emulate the British converts who murdered a soldier on a Woolwich street in 2013, along with a poem warning that jihadists would be "marching" to Maine.
Do they have those floaty feet things to get across the Atlantic?
The issue of Gaidi Mtaani also features a lengthy story about late al-Qaeda recruiter and cleric Anwar al-Awlaki, whose lectures are cited by American terrorists to this day, playing paintball in San Diego in the 1990s.

The Somali terror group, allied with al-Qaeda, has previously urged Western jihadists to draw inspiration from the attack on 25-year-old Fusilier Lee Rigby, who was first struck by a car and then stabbed and hacked by Michael Adebolajo and Michael Adebowale. London-born Adebolajo, 28, who was raised Christian before converting to Islam, filmed a statement before police arrived at the murder scene, vowing "you people will never be safe." Both are serving life in prison.
Should have danced a jig on the end of a rope.
Al-Shabaab's magazine dubs Adebolajo 2013's "Muslim of the Year," declaring "good men are hard to find."
No wonder the feminazis love them
"In an age stained with defeatism and cowardice, a room full of Mujahid Adebolajo is exactly what today's world needs," the article, bylined Abu Maryam, states. "...If a pictures speaks a thousand words, then blood in British streets speak a million words. Knowing that the British Government only understands the language of violence, instead of writing his letter on paper, Adebolajo decided to write his letter on the streets of Southeast London using the blood of a British soldier."

Adebolajo was "practically teaching the British public and the world in general, the elementary principle of universalism" through the murder, the terror group argued, with eye-for-an-eye reasoning.

"World media and left wing conservatives can deceptively portray Mujahid as a psychopathic slayer if they please, but after watching the video and hearing his words, deep down inside everyone knew he was making perfect sense. Amidst the hustle and bustle of London streets, specifically targeting a British soldier once stationed in Afghanistan clearly expresses the political motives behind the killings and disproves the fallacy that the attack was a haphazard intent to randomly slay Britons," the article continues.

"It's quite ignorant and presumptuous of non-Muslims and Muslims alike to think that the driving force of Mujahid's actions were fueled by an inherent disdain for British culture or values," the terror group argues, noting that if Adebolajo just wanted to kill fellow Britons there were more people at the scene he could have attacked.

"Their message couldn't be any simpler, 'We swear by Allaah the All-Mighty we will never stop fighting you until you leave us alone.' These same axioms expressed by Mujahid in England, were reiterated by Nidal Hasan, Mohamed Mirah, and the same concepts that will continue to be personified through bloodshed in Western streets, unless taken seriously." Hasan killed 13 at Fort Hood in 2009, while Mohammed Merah killed French soldiers and Jewish children during a 2012 shooting spree in Toulouse and Montauban.
Oh... we'll leave you alone and you will stop fighting... when you are dead. Pretty hard to fight someone then
Merah was born in Toulouse while Hasan was born in Virginia, keeping with the article's theme of urging attacks at home by jihadists native to Western countries.

A poem bylined by the same author of the article says to "tell the West we're a roaring flame/That can't be doused that can't be tamed/And until you cease your bombs and planes/We'll keep marching till we reach the State of Maine."

A lengthy article in the magazine describes the experiences of a Western jihadist -- one "of the generation of young Muslims who grew up in the west during the 90s who were at a high risk of losing their Muslim identity" -- getting to know al-Awlaki and later reconnecting with him in Yemen.

The author says he was living in San Diego while al-Awlaki attended San Diego State University and became imam of the Masjid Ar-Ribat al-Islami mosque near campus. He described going to the nickel arcade and paintball ranges east of San Diego with the cleric as al-Awlaki "was particularly fond of paintball activities."

At this time, New Mexico-born al-Awlaki had already gone through training in Afghanistan and returned home.

"At the beginning of the first match, I remember seeing the Sheikh move forward and then he crouched down and started crawling on the ground slowly moving forward. After some time I was shot and moved to the sidelines to watch how the match would finish. I looked over to where I had last seen the Sheikh and couldn’t see any sign of him. I kept surveying the surrounding areas looking for any sign of movement when all of a sudden there was a firefight a good fifty feet in front of the area where I had been scanning and I was surprised to see the sheikh as he was taking cover," the author described of a paintball outing.
How cute. The US Sniper just killed you about 50 times while you were scanning.
"I remember thinking, 'How was it possible for him to move all that distance with- out being detected?' It was amazing as he is a tall brother. The brothers commented and all agreed that the Sheikh was very skilled in close quarter military tactics. I would not find out until many years later that the Sheikh had been to Afghanistan in the early 90s."
I still would bet on a platoon of rangers against his forces. Would be a short but entertaining fight

United Flight 455 pilot goes crackers with political rant at gate
SAN FRANCISCO (KPIX 5/AP) -- A United Airlines pilot was removed from a plane bound for San Francisco International Airport after a bizarre rant about politics and her divorce.

It happened Saturday before United Flight 455 left from Austin, Texas.

The pilot got passengers’ attention when she boarded the plane in her street clothes.

"She shows up dressed like a civilian and asks to us to take a vote to see whether she should change into her uniform or fly as is," said Pam O’Neal, who was aboard the flight.

Passenger Randy Reiss tweeted, she "asked if we were ok with her flying like that... then says "sorry I’m going through s(sic) divorce.""

She then used the plane’s overhead PA system to rant about President Trump and Hillary Clinton -- calling them both "a‐holes" and then ranting about her divorce. That’s when passengers began tweeting to United to get a new pilot.

This may have been someone being crazy like a fox - if she was being tagged to provide support for the Soon To Be Ex, that's a quick way out of it without a court sanction afterwards.

Or she's crazier than a shiathouse rat. Either one.

White House Has Interviewed Carl Higbie for Press Secretary
[Washingtonian] Carl Higbie has interviewed for the position of White House press secretary, according to two senior administration officials familiar with the matter.

"Well, I can say that I’ve offered my services," Higbie confirms for Washingtonian when reached by phone. "I haven’t heard back from the administration yet. I’m honored to be even considered for this." Higbie says he has spoken with "a number of people" in interview rounds for the post.

Higbie interviewed for the position on Thursday, according to the sources. Higbie declined to confirm this. On Twitter Friday night after this story was originally published, Higbie said he has had no formal interviews.

Higbie, a former Navy SEAL, is close with the Trump family, particularly Eric Trump, whom he met in the green room after appearing on the Kelly File last year. He was one of the first official surrogates for the president on the campaign trail. He was also spokesman for the Great America PAC, which purported to earmark donations "from the grassroots" for the Trump campaign.

Sanders, Schumer call for nationwide pro-ObamaCare rallies
[The Hill] Sens. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) and Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) on Saturday called for nationwide rallies in support of ObamaCare, calling GOP efforts to repeal and replace the healthcare legislation "chaos."

"We are encouraging Democratic senators to lead rallies in their states. This is not a Democratic issue, a Republican issue or an Independent issue," the senators said in a letter.

"The overwhelming majority of Americans, regardless of political persuasion, understand that we have to go forward on health care, not backwards."

The letter calls for the rallies to take place on Saturday, Feb. 25. Democrats held rallies across the country last month in support of ObamaCare.

#3  Once and for all, we have the best healthcare in the world. What we have is a distorted payment system that needs rationalizing.

Britain
UK National Trust needs to raise £250,000 to repair Snowdonia's footpaths.
[ADAPT] Famed for its stunning landscape, Snowdonia in Wales, UK is one destination you can’t miss if you’re looking for a jam-packed adventure, in Europe. The National Park, known for the second highest mountain in the UK, Snowdon, is the perfect destination for anyone looking for an adrenaline-fuelled getaway.

But its popularity could also soon become its downfall. It’s facing a huge erosion problem with many of its footpaths in desperate need of repair. Speaking with ITV News, Rhys Thomas from the National Trust said:

Eroded paths are threatening Snowdonia’s fragile nature. If we don’t act now, it could be lost forever. More and more people are coming to enjoy the beautiful scenery in Snowdonia and walk our paths. On Snowdon, Wales’ highest mountain, we’ve seen the number of walkers double since 2007.

The National Trust oversees conservation efforts in Snowdonia and all of it 58,000 acres of mountain and farmland.

More than four million people visit Snowdonia every year and hundreds of thousands of pounds are spent to keep landscapes like Snowdonia and the Brecon Beacons accessible to the public.

But due to its ever growing popularity, the scale of footpath damage has escalated and extra support is now needed to protect these areas.

Open Resignation Letter to IBM CEO Ginni Rometty
Dear Ms. Rometty,

My name is Elizabeth Wood and I am a senior content strategist within the IBM corporate marketing department, based in New York City. I have worked hard to get to this stage in my career, and have been a valued member of my team at IBM. However, I have chosen to resign, as I can no longer contribute to an organization that would ignore the real needs of its workforce.

Last Tuesday, you shared with the world your open letter to president-elect Donald Trump, outlining ways for his administration’s success to conveniently dovetail with that of IBM products. Your letter offered the backing of IBM’s global workforce in support of his agenda that preys on marginalized people and threatens my well-being as a woman, a Latina and a concerned citizen.

The company’s hurry to do this was a tacit endorsement of his position, and has signaled to me something very important about IBM’s values: a willingness to legitimize threats to our country for financial gain.

[LI] A group of academics has published an article in the socialist publication Jacobin in which they advocate for a "federal job guarantee." This proposal entails a guaranteed minimal income of $23,000 per year and "rising to a mean of $32,500" to people who do not have jobs. This money would come, of course, from tax payers who do have jobs, most of whom can ill-afford the tax burden this "spread the wealth" scheme entails.

This idea has been batted around by socialists (and communists) for decades and is again rearing its ugly head.

Jacobin magazine--named for the blood-thirsty, failed French revolutionaries who slaughtered over 40,000 people in less than a year--is a publication devoted to socialist thought and celebrated by progressive outlets such as Vox.

Is it any wonder that this socialist publication would publish an article that articulates the idea of resurrecting some incarnation of FDR’s failed "Works Progress Administration" (WPA), a program that likely prolonged the Great Depression?

According to the authors of "Why We Need a Federal Job Guarantee," a "federal job guarantee" would give "everyone a job"and is "the best way to democratize the economy and give workers leverage in the workplace."
If you give them money for not working, they're not workers, are they?

Even if you don't have skills, there is always a job. Those that say they can't find one are either not trying, don't want the ones that they find, or a goddamn lair.

Stupid fucking communists.

Europe
Netherlands to revoke citizenship of Jihadists
[ARA] The Dutch senate on Tuesday approved a law that would take away Dutch citizenship of jihadists with a double nationality, amidst fear over the return of jihadist fighters who have joined radical groups such as the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS) in Syria and Iraq.

The proposal allows the Minister of Security and Justice to revoke the Dutch nationality of citizens without any trial.

This includes Dutch fighters that have joined any group listed as a terrorist organization like al-Nusra
...formally Jabhat an-Nusrah li-Ahli al-Sham (Support Front for the People of the Levant), also known as al-Qaeda in the Levant. They aim to establish a pan-Arab caliphate. Not the same one as the Islamic State, though .. ...
Front or ISIS.

The Dutch government is afraid returning jihadists could pose a threat to the security of the Netherlands.

However,
there is a theory which states that if ever anybody discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened...
with this new law Dutch jihadists would not be able to return to the Netherlands since they would also be banned from entering the country.

Now with ISIS losing many territories, some disillusioned imported muscle are thinking of going back home.

A Dutch woman who surrendered herself to the Kurdish Peshmergas in the vicinity of the ISIS-stronghold of djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
in September is suspected by the Dutch judicial authorities of supporting ISIS and planning attacks.

The Minister will inform the court about the revoking of citizenship if the citizen doesn’t appeal within four weeks.

Germany says 91 mosques were attacked in 2016

[AlAhram] The German government says 91 mosques were attacked in the country in 2016. The interior ministry said in a report sent to The Associated Press late Friday that most attacks — 21 of them— took place in the western German state of North Rhine-Westphalia, which is the country's most populous state with a high number of Muslim immigrants. The report did not detail how badly the different mosques were vandalized. However, it said police identified suspects in 12 cases and made one arrest.

Attacks on mosques and Muslim migrants have been on the rise since the arrival of some 890,000 asylum-seekers in 2015 caused a backlash and anti-Muslim sentiment in some parts of German society.

Syrian tribal leader Nawaf al-Bashir rejoins Assad regime after years of supporting rebels
[ARA] Sheikh Nawaf al-Bashir, leader of the Baggara tribe in Syria’s eastern Deir ez-Zor Governorate and a former member of the Syrian Parliament, who in 2012 defected from the regime to Turkish-backed rebels and fought the Kurds in northern Syria, is now forming pro-Assad militias and condemns the Syrian opposition.

Al-Bashir, whose tribe historically had tensions with the Kurds, in January 2012 apologised during a presser in Istanbul for praising Assad in an interview on the Syrian-state TV. "I apologize to the Syrian people for the words I have said. I now declare that we want nothing but to topple the regime," he said. In thew same conference the Arab tribal leader pledged that he’ll fully support the Syrian opposition against Assad.

In July 2012, al-Bashir impeded attempts to reach a consensus on Kurdish rights, after attacking the Kurds during an opposition meeting in Cairo.

Killer Turkey Assessment - Let's Talk About Those F-35 Kill Ratio Reports From Red Flag

#2  30 years ago I would not have been nearly as skeptical of this kind of story. However, in the course of the last decade or so I've shot right past skeptical into deeply cynical territory.

Lies, damn lies and statistics, or something like that.

#5  When you have the Air Force general in charge of F35 project coordination recorded saying that 'any officer who is not willing to do anything necessary to secure funding is a traitor and should resign' (and he used those words), I don't think lie is too strong a word.

#7  If I read the article correctly, Red Flag is mainly set up so the Killer Turkey is shooting fishes in a barrel! The trick here is getting the fishes to stay still long enough to be shot.

So Red Flag is basically meaningless. F-111 anyone?

#8  Given our current SecDef, I wonder how many USAF generals are willing to jeopardize their career by falsifying how well the F-35 did. SecDef Mattis doesn't strike me as someone easily fooled and isn't likely to tolerate generals (of any branch) lying to him or pushing an agenda contrary to the best interests of the US Military.

Danish teen charged with plotting to bomb Jewish school
[IsraelTimes] A Danish prosecutor said a 16-year-old girl has been formally charged with planning kabooms against two schools in Denmark.

Prosecutor Lise-Lotte Nilas says the teenager is accused of "having made preparations to make bombs" using the explosive known as TATP.
...so easy to make in the kitchen of your mother, according to both the Al Qaeda in Yemen and ISIS magazines...
She said her targets were a school west of Copenhagen and a Jewish school in the capital.

Police thwarted the plans by arresting the girl on Jan. 13, 2016. A trial is set to start April 7, 2017 in Holbaek, northwest of the Danish capital.

Charges against a 25-year-old man, initially believed to an accomplice, have been dropped. Defense lawyer Michael Juul Eriksen told The News Agency that Dare Not be Named his client, who twice had been in Syria, would be released later Friday.
That seems needlessly merciful.
Neither the girl nor the man could be identified.

Arabia
Houthi leader denies being supplied by Iran
London- The leader of Yemen’s Houthi militia said Friday that the group had begun manufacturing unmanned aerial drones and surface-to-air missiles (SAMs).

In a statement broadcast on TV, Abdul-Malik al-Houthi said the group was now “manufacturing artillery shells and air defenses.”

These, he said, included surface-to-air missiles capable of downing warplanes used by a Saudi-led military coalition, supporting Yemen’s legitimate government against the Houthis and their allies.

His remarks came few days after Yemeni Foreign Minister Abdul-Malik al-Mekhlafi told Asharq Al-Awsat that Tehran provided Houthi militias with drones that are capable of carrying weapons.

In response to these statements, Yemeni political analyst and author Najib Ghallab said that Houthi’s speech carries internal and external messages.

Ghallab said that Houthis are covering up Iran’s meddling in response to a request made by Tehran, which has come under extensive U.S. pressure.

He further noted that there is another internal reason for this act, which is to deceive Yemenis by showing them that Iran does not interfere in their matters and that they are the ones developing weapons.

“Yemenis reject any foreign intervention and Houthis are aware of that, and for this reason they are trying to cover up Iran’s acts in their country,” Ghallab said.

For his part, Spokesperson of the Saudi-led coalition forces Maj. Gen. Ahmed al-Assiri said, in an interview with the Russian news agency Sputnik on Thursday, that when Houthis seized arms of Yemeni army they manipulated these missiles and weapons with the help of Iranians and “Hezbollah” to increase their range and explosive charges, which caused disasters in Yemen.

“When these missiles land on Yemeni lands they cause dozens of casualties and these kinds of practices are part of Houthis escape plan,” al-Assiri said.

He confirmed that the legitimate leadership will return to Sana’a and these militias will have no place to hide, very soon.

The Anadolu agency said Saturday that Mahamad Laban, 45, a Danish citizen of Lebanese origin, and Mohammed Tefik Saleh, 38, a Swedish citizen of Iraqi origin, received weapons and explosives training in Syria for the past three months.

The agency says police questioned the suspects for 10 days in the southern province of Adana.

The report says Saleh's wife informed Swedish authorities that he crossed from Turkey to Syria and joined IS in 2014, along with his two daughters. The agency says the wife didn't go to Syria, and returned to Sweden.

Anadolu says pictures found on Laban showed him in trenches, wearing camouflage and holding a machine gun.

How Obama is scheming to sabotage Trump's presidency
[NYPost] When former President Barack Obama said he was "heartened" by anti-Trump protests, he was sending a message of approval to his troops. Troops? Yes, Obama has an army of agitators -- numbering more than 30,000 -- who will fight his Republican successor at every turn of his historic presidency. And Obama will command them from a bunker less than two miles from the White House.

In what’s shaping up to be a highly unusual post-presidency, Obama isn’t just staying behind in Washington. He’s working behind the scenes to set up what will effectively be a shadow government to not only protect his threatened legacy, but to sabotage the incoming administration and its popular "America First" agenda.
'Working behind the scenes' is he? If true, it's the first 'work' the indolent bugger has ever undertaken.
Not to worry, this kind of work lends itself to being done from the 11th tee...
He’s doing it through a network of leftist nonprofits led by Organizing for Action. Normally you’d expect an organization set up to support a politician and his agenda to close up shop after that candidate leaves office, but not Obama’s OFA. Rather, it’s gearing up for battle, with a growing war chest and more than 250 offices across the country.
Trusting President Trump shuts these bastards down hard and soon.

Iraq
Kurd Kops detain 5 ISIS heavies in Tikrit
[ARA News] Erbil – Iraqi Kurdistan’s Asayish security forces in Erbil said they have arrested five Kurdish individuals who wanted to join the Islamic State (ISIS) group.

“As part of Erbil Asayish’s ongoing efforts, today a group of 5 suspects affiliated with ISIS terrorists was arrested,” the Kurdistan Region’s Security Council (KRSC) said on Sunday.

“The individuals planned to joint ISIS in Hawija, South West of Kirkuk,” the KRSC said.

Hawar Yusuf Abdul-Karim, Halmat Omar Osman Ahmed, Hani Ibrahim Rashid Faraj, Farhang Abas Abdul-Rahman Rashid and Abdulla Baqi Abdulla Rashid have been arrested over “terrorism” charges.

The arrest shows that there are still some Kurds that want to join the ranks of ISIS, although most Kurdish members of ISIS were killed in battle or coalition air strikes.

The Kurds have provided intelligence to the US-led coalition which led to targeted airstrikes taking out local senior ISIS leaders such as Mullah Shwan in September 2015 near Hawija and Falah al-Kurdi in October 2015.

Hawija is part of the Kirkuk province of Iraq, 30 miles west of Kirkuk city and north of Baghdad. The town has a population of about 100,000 inhabitants and has been under ISIS control since 2014. Some Kurds, such as Mulah Shwan and Falah al-Kurdi, took leading positions in Hawija before they were killed by coalition air strikes.

Noteworthy, ISIS used Hawija to plan attacks on the Kurdistan Region.

While Kirkuk city and its environs are controlled by the Kurdish Peshmerga forces and Asayish, the Hawija town outside of Kirkuk is still under ISIS control since 2014. Operations to take Hawija were delayed after the Iraqi government decided to first destroy the Islamic State in Mosul–which is ISIS de facto capital in Iraq.

This is not the first high-profile anti-ISIS arrest operation by the Kurdish security forces.

On 1 February, the Kurdistan Region’s Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and Kirkuk’s Asayish arrested six ISIS members in Bajwan in northwest of Kirkuk and foiled their planned attacks.

And on 31 January, the CTD confirmed that Ali Sleman Osman, the planner of the Ainkawa terrorist attack that targeted the US consulate on 17 April 2015, was arrested.

Ranj Talabani, a member of the Kurdish Zaniyari intelligence, in March said 500 to 600 Kurds have joined the Islamic State. However, most of them were killed.

Furthermore, ISIS propaganda in Kurdish has decreased significantly on social media and the internet, although the latest edition of the ISIS magazine Rumiyah was also published in Kurdish.

Libyan helo crash causes shrouded in mystery
"Gas in the gas tank, oil in the oil pan, pilot flying. What could go wrong?"
[LibyaHerald] It is still unclear how an Libyan National Army Mi-35 heliopter came to crash south of Sirte yesterday. The army, which initially insisted a technical fault had been responsible, today admitted at a Benghazi press conference that it simply did not know.

The downing of the Russian-built chopper was claimed by a Benghazi Defence Brigade column. The LNA said that it had conducted nine strikes against this formation as it headed toward the Mabrouk oilfield. It claimed five militants had been killed and 20 injured.

Poor quality footage released by Khalifa Ghwell’s Foreign Media Department in Tripoli, begins with some type of aircraft clearly in trouble with smoke coming from it. The height is hard to gauge but it is heading toward the camera, which breaks away to film an armed man running and shouting happily. The lens then returns to a spot a kilometre or more away where a plume of smoke is rising from an explosion.

A later sequence shows one charred corpse in crewman uniform and the body of another crewman who appeared to have been thrown clear but suffered catastrophic injuries to the front of his head. There were no shots of a third body.

The pilot is known to have have been Colonel Mumin Al-Drissi but there are reports that the other two crewmen were members of his family, technical airman Ibrahim Al-Drissi and Corporal Elmabruk Al-Drissi.

The wreckage was still burning when the BDB cameraman reached it. One shot showed a blackened circular rocket launcher slightly away from the main crash site.

It is known that on at least one occasion, a rocket exploded prematurely when fired from an LNA aircraft.

The Beatings Will Continue: Syrian and Egyptian Edtions

ISIS executes civilians before arrival of Turkish troops

[al-Manar] ISIL terrorists have executed at least 40 civilians in the Syrian northern town of al-Bab right after being captured, Al Mayadeen broadcaster reported.

Currently, the Syrian army is approaching al-Bab controlled by ISIL from the west and south, while the Turkish-led forces are attempting to advance into and liberate the town from the north and the east.

The Syrian army forces and the Turkish-led forces are not coordinating their actions, since Damascus considers the presence of the Turkish forces a violation of Syria’s sovereignty.

On Friday, a military source told Sputnik that the Syrian army forces cut off the retreat path for ISIL from al-Bab.

The Turkish military operation in Syria’s al-Bab has entered the final stage. Turkey’s units entered central al-Bab, the operation is being conducted in coordination with Russia.

Al-Bab is one of ISIL’s last remaining strongholds near the Turkish border. Capturing the city is of strategic importance to Turkey in order to prevent the Syrian Kurds taking it and unifying their own territories.

ISIS executes 5 in Sinai

[al-Manar] ISIL terrorist group claims to have executed five men allegedly accused of assisting the Egyptian army which is battling the Takfiri group in the country’s restive Sinai Province.

In a series of photos released on the messaging application of Telegram, five men introduced as army “elements” are seen lying face down on the ground before a militant shoots them in the back of their heads with a rifle.

The location of the shot video, reported by US-based the SITE Intelligence Group that tracks terrorists’ online activities, is not specified and still remains undisclosed.

The killings seem to have occurred after the Egyptian army announced Friday that it had killed “500 terrorists” since the start of a wide-ranging security operation in Sinai in September 2015.

Militants have slain hundreds of soldiers and police officers in the sparsely-populated Sinai Peninsula over the past several years.

ISIS prepares for MOUT operations in Raqqa

[AAWSAT] Beirut- ISIS militants mobilized in the Syrian city of Raqqa on Friday ahead of a new round of battles, which local activists expected to be tantamount to urban warfare.

The International Coalition has pounded Raqqa’s bridges on the Euphrates River, cutting off any connection between the two sides linking the river while the Kurdish-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) militias were still advancing towards the city.

In remarks to Asharq Al-Awsat, SDF spokesperson Talal Silo said the Americans did not yet inform the group about the content of Washington’s agreement with Ankara concerning the liberation of Raqqa.

“We had previously opposed any involvement of Turkish forces in the Raqqa battle. However, if there was a U.S.-Turkish agreement in this regard, we would probably discuss the issue to reach an appropriate formula to liberate the city,” Silo said.

U.S. Army Colonel and Spokesperson for the Combined Joint Task Force John Dorrian said on Thursday night during a news briefing from Baghdad that in total, more than 3,410 kilometers square of territory has been liberated since the operation to isolate Raqqa began Nov. 5.

The SDF and their partners have encountered “light to moderate” resistance as the enemy’s command-and-control system struggles to deal with multiple ongoing operations simultaneously, he added.

Meanwhile, Moscow is currently busy trying to mediate between the Syrian regime and political and military opposition factions.

At the battlefield, Russia is working to set the temp of the ongoing battle in al-Bab city following clashes between Ankara-backed opposition fighters, and Syrian regime forces and their allies on Thursday night.

Also in al-Bab, Turkey denied on Friday Kremlin’s announcement that Ankara provided the coordinates for the Russian airstrike, which killed three Turkish soldiers and wounded 11 others.

Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said “Turkish soldiers should not have been there,” adding there is no dispute regarding the cause of the incident.

At the political level, the outcome of a meeting held earlier between members of the Syrian Coalition and Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov were discussed by the High Negotiations Committee in Riyadh on Friday.

In a related development, head of the Syrian regime Bashar Assad rejected during an interview with Yahoo News the creation of safe zones for refugees and displaced people in Syria, an idea supported by U.S. President Donald Trump.

Assad signaled he would welcome cooperation with Washington in the fight against ISIS, however, as long as the United States took a “clear political position” on Syria’s sovereignty and unity.

UNSC welcomes election of a new Somali president
The UN Security Council on Friday welcomed the conclusion of the electoral process in Somalia and the election of a new president in the country.

On Wednesday, Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo, former prime minister in Somalia’s transitional federal government between 2009 and 2010, was elected the new president of Somalia.
Welcome to your job, sir. Here is your oath of office, a listing of your numbered accounts, and the code phrase for your international force personal protection package...
In a presidential statement adopted here, the 15-nation Security Council welcomed the political and security progress in Somalia since 2012 and underscored the need to maintain the momentum towards democratic governance in Somalia.
Because boy howdy we've had some impressive momentum towards democracy in Somalia, yessiree Bob, impressive...
It underlined the importance of the timely and transparent appointment of ministers and cabinet positions in consultation with the Somali parliament, according to the statement.

The council members also called on President Farmajo and his government to give urgent attention to the immediate risk of famine, to take active steps to prevent it, and to address the consequences of the severe drought in Somalia.
Because the whole problem with famine in Somalia is that no one has been paying attention to it...
The country’s new president will have to deal with multiple challenges facing the country including security threat from extremist group Al-Shabab and the severe humanitarian situation.

UN statistics show that five million Somalis — more than 40 percent of the country’s population — do not have sufficient food.

Besides, Somalia was one of seven Muslim-majority countries whose citizens were banned from entering the United States for 90 days by a now-suspended Trump administration executive order.
Wait...

Where are the Reince Priebus Hit Pieces?
Reince Priebus is the White House Chief of Staff. No one is closer to President Trump. Mike Cernovich is an author and filmmaker far removed from the Administration. Why has the media written more hit pieces about me than about Reince? The media isn’t barking at Reince. Why?

Fans of Sherlock Holmes will recognize the dog that didn’t bark allusion, which comes from The Adventures of Silver Blaze, a story involving the murder of a horse trainer and the disappearance of race horse. Police initially suspect a stranger stole the horse, which Holmes considered curious as a guard dog was never heard barking during the horse’s disappearance.

Gregory (Scotland Yard detective): "Is there any other point to which you would wish to draw my attention?"
Holmes: "To the curious incident of the dog in the night-time."
Gregory: "The dog did nothing in the night-time."
Holmes: "That was the curious incident."

As Holmes explains: "I had grasped the significance of the silence of the dog, for one true inference invariably suggests others.... Obviously the midnight visitor was someone whom the dog knew well."

There are leaks coming from the White House, and one cannot find any shortage of hit pieces on General Flynn, Steve Bannon, Steven Miller, and Kellyanne Conway.

CNN, WaPo, and the New York Times has gone after me several times, and I have nothing to do with the current Administration.

Where are the fake news media hit pieces on Reince Priebus? Why isn’t the media dog barking?

Perhaps they know him all too well.

Shapiro to pro-transgenderism student: ‘Why aren’t you 60?’
[REDALERTPOLITICS] Transgenderism and pro-abortion advocates at Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan were shown a contrarian perspective on Thursday during a Q&A session with Daily Wire Editor-in-Chief Ben Shapiro.

After being challenged by a young woman who told him he is invalidating transgender individuals, Shapiro responded by debunking the popular narrative on transgenderism.

"As far as the actual psychological issues at play, it used to be called gender identity disorder; now they call it gender dysphoria," he said. "The idea that sex or gender is malleable is not true. I’m not denying your humanity if you are a transgender person. I am saying that you are not the sex which you claim to be. You’re still a human being, and you’re a human being with an issue then I wish you Godspeed in dealing with it in any whatever way you see fit. But if you’re going to dictate to me that I’m supposed to pretend, I’m supposed to pretend that men are women and women are men, no. My answer is no. I’m not going to -- I’m not going to modify basic biology because it threatens your subjective sense of what you are."

The young woman attempted to make an argument for objective transgenderism by claiming gender is decided in one’s own mind and thus deserves validation from others. Shapiro debunked that claim as well.

"Let me ask you this. I won’t ask how old -- I will ask how old you are, because you’re young enough that it’s probably not insulting to ask you," he asked the young woman.

"I’m 22, so I’m probably a little bit naïve, right?" she said.

"No. Why aren’t you 60?... Why can’t you identify as 60?" he asked.

"It’s not the same as gender. You can’t just...."

"You’re right," he said. "Age is significantly less important than gender. You can’t magically change your gender. You can’t magically change your sex. You can’t magically change your age."

The young woman tried to argue that legal age can be changed, which isn’t true. Eventually, it was accepted that legally or mentally changing your identity does not make you a physically different person. Age and gender are both qualities that cannot be physically changed by self-identification.

Fourth Muslim group rejects federal grant to fight extremism
[Ynet] Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, Islamic school had wanted to keep an open mind before Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
took office. But less than a month into Trump's presidency, the school is rejecting $800,000 in federal funds aimed at combatting violent extremism.
Not a problem. Those funds can easily be put to use on projects over at the Jewish Defense League (JDL). Can we count on you for the same type of response next year ?
They could always leave us their forwarding address in Gazoo...
The move to turn down the money by the Bayan Claremont graduate school's board--an amount that would cover more than half its yearly budget--caps weeks of sleepless nights and debate. Many there feel Trump's rhetoric singling out Islamic extremism and his travel ban affecting predominantly Moslem countries have gone too far.

It's the fourth organization nationwide under the Trump administration to reject funds for the B.O. regime strategy known as countering violent extremism, or CVE. Officials say the strategy aims to thwart Lion of Islam groups' abilities to recruit would-be terrorists.

Egypt court declares militant group 'Hasm' terrorist organisation
[AlAhram] The Cairo Court for Urgent Matters has designated on Saturday the Death Eater group "Hasm",
...the newest armed wing of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt. They've been getting feisty in the Cairo area since October, 2016. Hasm means "decisiveness" in Arabic ...
which grabbed credit for a number of deadly attacks on security forces as well as liquidation attempts on public figures over the past year, as a terrorist group.

The little-known group claimed the liquidation attempt on the deputy prosecutor general in September 2016 as well as the liquidation attempt on leading Islamic holy man Ali Gomaa in August of the same year.

In December 2016, Hasm also grabbed credit for a deadly kaboom at a police checkpoint in the Haram district in Giza, which killed 6 coppers and left 4 injured.

In mid-January, the High State Security Prosecution referred 304 people to military trials for alleged membership in Hasm.

Last week, Cairo Court for Urgent Matters also designated a group calling itself the "Popular Resistance" a terrorist organization. The group, which was formed in 2014, first gained widespread attention in June 2015 when it grabbed credit for the murder of the country's chief prosecutor, Hisham Barakat, in Cairo.

Since 2013, the Egyptian government has linked most of the Death Eater groups in the country which announced responsibility for attacks on security forces to the banned Moslem Brüderbund organization.

The government declared the Moslem Brüderbund a terrorist organization in December 2013 as the government blamed the group for a number of deadly attacks on security forces in the aftermath of the ouster of Islamist former president Mohammed Morsi in July of that year.

’s (ISIS) gunnies form the strategic town of Meyzla east of Raqqa, in northeastern Syria.

The SDF specialised teams also started to dismantle ISIS explosives and landmines in the town.

The town of Meyzla is located some 11km from Raqqa city centre. Its strategic location may help the SDF accelerate the battle for eastern Raqqa.

"Our forces are now in control of the Meyzla town, where ISIS was using civilians as human shields. The town is completely liberated now," SDF officer Mahmoud Khalaf, told ARA News.

According to the SDF, nearly 70% of fighters participating in the Euphrates Wrath Operation in eastern Raqqa are Arabs.

One of the main difficulties facing the Kurdish-led SDF is that ISIS has been using civilians as human shields to protect its de facto capital.

We have carefully advanced towards this town to prevent civilian casualties, as ISIS holy warriors were using the people as human shields," Ahmad Abdullah, an SDF fighter, told ARA News at the frontline in eastern Raqqa.

"We need two days to completely dismantle landmines and explosives here in order to allow a safe return of civilians," he said.

group in Egypt claims to have executed five men it accused of working for the army, which is battling the jihadists in the Sinai Peninsula.

In a series of photos published Friday on the secure messaging app Telegram, five men presented as army "elements" are seen lying face down on the ground before a bully boy shoots them in the back of their heads with an assault rifle, the SITE intelligence group said.

Jihadists have killed hundreds of soldiers and coppers since the military overthrow of Islamist president Mohammed Morsi in 2013 unleashed a bloody crackdown on his supporters.

The crackdown decimated the Islamist movement and killed hundreds of his followers, and set off a jihadist insurgency that has killed hundreds of security personnel.

Most of the attacks have taken place in the Sinai Peninsula, which borders Israel and the Gazoo Strip, but attacks have also been carried out in other areas including Cairo.

The Egyptian army announced on Friday that it had killed "500 terrorists" since it launched a wide-ranging security operation in the Sinai in September 2015.

Planned Parenthood Supporter Who Allegedly Shoved Wet Maxi Pad into Pro-Life Activist’s Mouth Arrested
[BREITBART] A woman in Ashland, Oregon, who allegedly assaulted a pro-life activist by shoving a wet sanitary napkin into his mouth has been incarcerated
Drop the gat, Rocky, or you're a dead 'un!

Valerie Starushok, 21, approached the pro-life activist on January 27, the day of the March for Life, in front of a Planned Parenthood

facility and "struck him in the face with a wet sanitary napkin," says an Ashland police report. Starushok also allegedly yelled profanities at the activist as the video shows:

"Eat this [expletive] pad, you c**k face!" Starushok allegedly shouted at the activist.

The pro-life activist is heard in the video saying he would have to call police. The activist said the woman caught him off-guard and "shoved her bloody maxi pad into [his] mouth."
Hold hard there -- wet sanitary napkin is not at all the same as bloody maxi pad. The latter is not merely disgusting but, depending on the woman in question, may be a serious health hazard.
NBC affiliate KOBi5 reports Starushok turned herself in to police and was lodged in the Jackson County jail on one count of harassment.

Teamsters' President: Kelloggs Has Turned Its Back on Working Families
[Breitbart] Jim Hoffa, president of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, says his organization will "fight" Kellogg’s decision to shift from direct delivery of its foods to stores, a move that will result in the firing of more than 1,100 full-time workers at Kellogg’s facilities across the country.

"On February 8, The Kellogg Company announced its short-sighted plan to eliminate their U.S. (Keebler) snacks direct store delivery system across the country which will destroy nearly 1,200 good, Teamster jobs in key markets across the country," Hoffa said in press statement.

"It is an outrage for Kellogg’s ‐ an iconic American company ‐ to turn its back on working families," Hoffa said.

Shaboobs release 173 prisoners from its own jails
Al Shabaab has announced it released 173 prisoners from secret jails in Lower Shabelle region in southern Somalia over the past 48 hours. The released inmates were accused of cutting trees in Leego area in the region for charcoal, according to a statement from Al shabaab that was posted on pro-militants media outlets.

Two more other prisoners are reported to be remained in the jail, whom Al shabaab accused of funding the cutting of the trees for charcoal. They are waiting to stand Al shabaab trail.

Al shabaab banned cutting trees for charcoal in its all stronghold areas in south and central Somalia, and threatened the charcoal traders with harsh retribution.
The Shaboobs are not environmentally-conscious, it's just that the charcoal trade has to be under their thumb for the graft and taxes it generates for the holy cause...

Europe
Women and children ‘endure rape, beatings and abuse’ inside Dunkirk’s refugee camp
Let's all agree that rape and sex abuse is wrong, horrific, and not to be tolerated in any civilized society. Agreed? Good.

First, find the offenders, beat them senseless, and send them back, bound and blindfolded, to their countries of origin.

Second, the ones who want to stay can act a little more grateful. They can rat out the offenders. They can go where we put them rather than demand to go to the EU country with the most lush welfare system. If they can't do that, they can go back as well to their countries of origin -- blindfolds and bindings not mandatory.
...bound, blindfolded, and castrated. Justice must be seen to be done.
Children and women are being raped by traffickers inside a refugee camp in northern France, according to detailed testimony gathered ahead of fresh legal action against the UK government’s approach to the welfare of unaccompanied minors.

Iraq
US-led coalition targets top ISIS figure in Iraq strike
[CNN] The Pentagon announced Friday that a US-led coalition strike in Iraq targeted Rachid Kassim, an ISIS operative tied to numerous terrorist plots in Europe.

"Coalition forces targeted Rachid Kassim, a senior ISIS operative, near djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
in a strike in the past 72 hours," US Maj. Adrian Rankine-Galloway said.

The Pentagon said it is still assessing the results, but a senior US defense official told CNN that it was "likely successful."

The official added that the Arclight airstrike was carried out by a drone.

Kassim is a French citizen who has allegedly inspired terrorist attacks in La Belle France. He is considered one of the most dangerous of all ISIS operatives because he enabled a string of plots against La Belle France by communicating with ISIS sympathizers in La Belle France through encrypted messaging apps.

Kassim encouraged and guided plotters to launch attacks, even bringing together individuals who did not know each other to form attack cells. French intelligence agencies believe he was in touch with the attacker who killed a French police couple in northwestern La Belle France in June and the two plotters who killed a priest in Normandy in July.

More then half of the 17 foiled plots against La Belle France in 2016 were guided by Kassim, according to Jean-Charles Brisard, the director of the Gay Paree-based Center for the Analysis of Terrorism.

"Kassim is the single most active French remote attack planner for ISIS, working to drive dozens of radicalized individuals in La Belle France to commit attacks," Brisard told CNN.

Social media reports seemed to indicate that Kassim was killed, Brisard said.

In the past 24 hours, several Telegram channels belonging to French ISIS operatives asked followers to pray for Kassim and his family "pending news that will strengthen your hearts," Brisard said.

Brisard said that in the past, such messages have been posted when operatives have been killed, but he stressed the importance of Western intelligence agencies confirming the death because of the possibility ISIS might try to fool Western intelligence into concluding that Kassim is dead.

72 convicted of terrorism from 'Trump 7' mostly Muslim countries
Since 9/11, 72 individuals from the seven mostly Muslim countries covered by President Trump's "extreme vetting" executive order have been convicted of terrorism, bolstering the administration's immigration ban. According to a report out Saturday, at least 17 claimed to be refugees from those nations, three came in as "students," and 25 eventually became U.S. citizens.

The Center for Immigration Studies calculated the numbers of convicted terrorists from the Trump Seven:

— Somalia: 20
— Yemen: 19
— Iraq: 19
— Syria: 7
— Iran: 4
— Libya: 2

The Center's director of policy studies, Jessica M. Vaughan, based her blockbuster report on a 2016 report from the Senate Judiciary Committee's Subcommittee on Immigration and the National Interest, then chaired by new Attorney General Jeff Sessions, that report found that 380 out of 580 people convicted in terror cases since 9/11 were foreign-born.

She received further information on many in the report to conclude that 72 of those convicted of terrorism come from the seven nations target by Trump.

From her report seen here:

These immigrant terrorists lived in at least 16 different states, with the largest number from the terror-associated countries living in New York (10), Minnesota (8), California (8), and Michigan (6). Ironically, Minnesota was one of the states suing to block Trump's order to pause entries from the terror-associated countries, claiming it harmed the state. At least two of the terrorists were living in Washington, which joined with Minnesota in the lawsuit to block the order.

Thirty-three of the 72 individuals from the seven terror-associated countries were convicted of very serious terror-related crimes, and were sentenced to at least three years imprisonment. The crimes included use of a weapon of mass destruction, conspiracy to commit a terror act, material support of a terrorist or terror group, international money laundering conspiracy, possession of explosives or missiles, and unlawful possession of a machine gun.

In dismissing the Trump executive order, San Francisco's Ninth Circuit court of appeals said, "The government has pointed to no evidence...that any alien from any of the countries named in the order has perpetrated a terrorist attack in the United States."

Proponents of the president's ban said that Vaughan's findings should provide Justice with the evidence they need to win their case. She wrote:

President Trump's vetting order is clearly legal under the provisions of section 212(f) of the Immigration and Nationality Act, which says that the president can suspend the entry of any alien or group of aliens if he finds it to be detrimental to the national interest. He should not have to provide any more justification than was already presented in the order, but if judges demand more reasons, here are 72.

Kurdish security forces arrest five ISIS suspects north Iraq
[ARA] Iraqi Kurdistan’s Asayish security forces in Erbil said they have enjugged
Drop the rod and step away witcher hands up!
five Kurdish individuals who wanted to join the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS) group.

"As part of Erbil Asayish’s ongoing efforts, today a group of 5 suspects affiliated with ISIS bandidos murderous Moslems was arrested," the Kurdistan Region’s Security Council (KRSC) said on Sunday.

"The individuals planned to joint ISIS in Hawija, South West of Kirkuk,
... a thick stew of Arabs, Turkmen, Kurds, and probably Antarcticans, all of them mutually hostile most of the time...
" the KRSC said.

Hawar Yusuf Abdul-Karim, Halmat Omar Osman Ahmed, Hani Ibrahim Rashid Faraj, Farhang Abas Abdul-Rahman Rashid and Abdulla Baqi Abdulla Rashid have been arrested over "terrorism" charges.

The arrest shows that there are still some Kurds that want to join the ranks of ISIS, although most Kurdish members of ISIS were killed in battle or coalition air strikes.

The Kurds have provided intelligence to the US-led coalition which led to targeted Arclight airstrikes taking out local senior ISIS leaders such as Mullah Shwan in September 2015 near Hawija and Falah al-Kurdi in October 2015.

Operations to take Hawija were delayed after the Iraqi government decided to first destroy the Islamic State in djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
‐which is ISIS de facto capital in Iraq.

Cars set alight in Paris suburb during anti-police protest
Protesters against police violence have set a cars on fire during a rally in the Paris suburb of Bobigny, which followed a police officer’s assault on a 22-year-old man. An RTL van set on fire by the protesters could be seen burning in the live footage.

Dozens of young people have occupied an empty lot in Bobigny in the prefecture of Seine-Saint-Denis department. Some of the protesters have been carrying banners saying “Justice for Theo,” the name of the young man who was sexually assaulted by a police officer with a truncheon.

Hundreds of people gathered in Bobigny not far from the courthouse earlier today to protest police violence, Le Parisien reported. The demonstration began peacefully, but turned violent at around 3pm local time.

“We decided to organize this gathering. The announcement has been running on Twitter, Facebook and Snapchat… it made some noise, it shows how much people can’t stand this situation anymore,” one of the organizers said, according to France Bleu Paris.

During the protest, demonstrators threw projectiles at police officers and set fire to cars and trash cans.

“Several vehicles, including a media truck, were set on fire and police officers had to intervene to rescue a young child trapped in a burning vehicle,” a prefecture statement said, according to Reuters.

A video submitted by an RT France’s reporter shows brutally smashed store windows and groceries thrown out of counters and fridges lying all over the store floor. Le Monde also reported of other cases of vandalism on the streets of the suburban town.

The 22 year-old man, identified only as Theo, was attacked with a baton during what police later said was an ID check in Aulnay-sous-Bois (another Paris suburb), on February 2. A CCTV camera footage shows a police officer “applying a truncheon blow horizontally across the buttocks with a truncheon” and after that Theo’s pants “slipped down on their own," a police source cited by AFP said.

Judging by eyewitness accounts and the video, “there are insufficient elements to show that this was a rape,” the source added.

One of the police officers was charged with rape and three others with aggravated assault. The case is currently under investigation.

Theo believes that the police officer used the baton “on purpose,” television station BFM quoted him as saying.

After a search, Theo was handcuffed and taken to a police car, where officers again insulted him, spat at him and gave him beatings. At the police station, another officer saw his injuries and he was sent to the hospital where he was treated for an anal tear.

Egypt opens Rafah crossing for three days to students, humanitarian cases
[AlAhram] Egyptian authorities opened the Rafah border crossing with Gazoo Strip on Saturday for three days to allow the passage of students and elderly in need for treatment, Paleostinain news agency WAFA reported.

The crossing in northern Sinai is the only way for 1.8 million Paleostinians living in Israeli-besieged Gazoo to enter and exit the strip.

Since October 2014, the crossing has been more or less closed by Egyptian authorities due to security concerns.

Cairo periodically opens the border to allow civilians with foreign passports, Paleostinian students, and those with medical needs to travel back and forth.

The crossing was last opened temporarily in late January.
It is now almost mid-February, so it's been closed about three weeks. Golly.
The Times of Israel explains:
The Rafah crossing between Egypt and the Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth",-run Gazoo Strip reopened Saturday, reflecting the improved ties between Cairo and the Islamist terror organization. Since the beginning of the year, the crossing has opened with a much greater frequency following talks between Cairo and Hamas to resolve long-simmering tensions.

Last month Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh
...became Prime Minister after the legislative elections of 2006 which Hamas won. President Mahmoud Abbas dismissed Haniyeh from office on 14 June 2007 at the height of the Fatah-Hamas festivities, but Haniyeh did not acknowledge the decree and continues as the PM of Gazoo while Abbas maintains a separate PM in the West Bank...
led a delegation to Cairo, the first visit by the group’s top leader in over three years. The visit represents a desire by both sides to rebuild trust after tension since the 2013 military ouster of Islamist President Mohammed Morsi, who hails from the Moslem Brüderbund group, Hamas’s mother movement. Authorities accused the group of supporting hard boyz to carry out attacks in Egypt.

In recent weeks, Cairo has increased the number of people allowed to exit through the Rafah Border Crossing, Gazoo’s main gateway to the outside world. It also has begun to allow Gazoo to import commercial goods through Rafah for the first time since 2013, and sent public signals that it is interested in improving relations.

Haniyeh left Gazoo in September to perform the Hajj pilgrimage in Mecca -- the first time Egypt allowed him to leave the territory since Morsi’s ouster. He then went to Qatar
...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates...
to see Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal.

Media return from soul-searching empty-handed
[WASHINGTONEXAMINER] "We're covering this president as we've covered presidents in the past," Washington Post Executive Editor Martin Baron bragged to the website Business Insider last week. "We haven't changed how we do our jobs."
True or false, that's a damning statement...
In that spirit, the Post's editorial board in late January compared Trump to Hitler.

If there is one thing everyone will remember years from now about Trump's campaign, it was his promise to restrict illegal immigration. Contrary to the opinion of Times' columnist Nicholas Kristof, who compared taking a pause on taking in Syrian refugees to the internment of Japanese Americans, a more orderly and selective immigration policy is pretty popular.

But after one undocumented Democrat who had been living in the U.S. for decades using a fraudulent Social Security number was deported last week, all three network prime-time newscasts put together packages on "the family she leaves behind" (CBS correspondent Carter Evans' words).

Trump's message to "Make America Great Again" (or as the media recall it, "The End Times") was powerful enough to overcome the minor controversies and tiffs that journalists covered so extensively.

It behooves the Times or the Post to get a writer who sees something good about Trump's appeal and the people who support him.

Instead we get Charles Blow who twice each week thinks he's making a smart and principled statement by referring to Trump as "president" in quotes.

We get Buzzfeed's top editor, Ben Smith, offering that for the media to cover Trump thoroughly, it may sometimes require "publishing unverified information."

That's not fake news. He said that after his website was torched for publishing the now infamous dossier of unsubstantiated claims about Trump's personal and financial life.

To admit a readiness to repeat that episode requires more soul-searching. Maybe the media will find something next time.

... the more palatable version of the Syrian insurgency, heavily influenced by the Moslem Brüderbund...
(FSA) fighters with Turkish Land Forces’ support," the statement said.

It added that Turkish warplanes have destroyed 55 buildings used by ISIS as hideouts, two headquarters, two meeting points, a guard station, an arms depot, and a wireless station.

Turkey and its rebel allies have been bogged down in al-Bab for almost three months, taking significant casualties. ISIS constructed a warren of tunnels and an extensive trench line in anticipation of the fighting.

Iraq
Baghdad Bomb and Bullet Bulletin

1 dead in bombing attack in al-Rasheed area

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) A police source revealed that a civilian was killed, while five others were wounded in a bomb blast, near a popular market, south of Baghdad, Alsumaria News reported on Saturday.

The source said, “An improvised explosive device, emplaced near a popular market in al-Rasheed area, south of Baghdad exploded, at noon today, killing a civilian and wounding five others.”

“Security forces cordoned off the area of incident, while ambulances transferred the wounded to a nearby hospital and the bodies to the forensic medicine department,” the source added on condition of anonymity.

Noteworthy, Baghdad is witnessing several suicide attacks using booby-trapped vehicles and suicide vests, as well as separate attacks against civilians and security forces.

Iraqi kop dies in pro Tater protests

Police fired tear gas to prevent protesters from getting too close to the Green Zone, witnesses said, choking about two dozen demonstrators, according to the organizers of the protest.

Bursts of gunfire were also heard but it was not clear where they came from.

Sadr’s supporters stormed the Green Zone last year after violent clashes with security forces.

An interior ministry statement said guns and knives were found on some protesters.

Sadr issued a statement saying the demonstration was peaceful and accused the police of using excessive force.

He said his supporters wanted to get near the Green Zone to make their voices heard by decision makers, and had no intention of storming it again. Sadr asked the protesters to “withdraw until further notice”.

Television footage showed young men, many holding Iraqi flags and covering their faces, running away as smoke filled Tahrir Square.

Sadr suspects that members of the electoral commission are loyal to his Shi’ite rival, former Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki, one of the closest allies of Iran in Iraq.

Sadr is openly hostile to American presence and policies in the Middle East and, at the same time, he has a troubled relationship with Iraqi political groups allied with Iran.

A political commentator close to Abadi, Ihsan al-Shammari, told Reuters the protests were ill-timed but would not affect the U.S.-backed military campaign on Mosul.

“The protests don’t affect the ongoing military preparations to retake Mosul, but the problem is that, at this time, they are disturbing the security situation,” he said.

Iraqi forces last month completed the first phase of the Mosul offensive that started in October, by dislodging the militants from the eastern side of the city. They are now preparing to attack the part that lies west of the Tigris river.

4 die in Green Zone festivities

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Governor of Baghdad Ali al-Tamimi announced on Saturday, that four protestors were killed, and 320 others were wounded in the demonstrations that took place, today, at Baghdad’s Green Zone, while called on Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi to order investigation into the incident.

Tamimi said in a press statement, “Today, the capital, Baghdad, witnessed a peaceful demonstration, and there were obvious cooperation between security forces and protestors,” pointing out that, “Some demonstrators tried to break the peaceful atmosphere, so security forces fired tear gas and live bullets, killing some protesters and injuring hundreds.”

“The final outcome reached 4 martyrs and 320 wounded, including 79 injured with live bullets,” Tamimi added.

Tamimi also denounced attacking the demonstrators, and called on Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi to form a committee to investigate using excessive force against peaceful demonstrators.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Panic setting in among Hispanics over deportations
[The Hill] Hispanic organizers are struggling to tamp down panic in their communities as federal authorities begin to implement President Trump's executive orders on immigration.

One of the first cases to receive national attention, the deportation of Arizona resident Guadalupe Garcia de Rayos, has put undocumented and mixed status communities on edge.

"It's fair to say we’re all extremely troubled by the deportation action we saw take place yesterday in Arizona," said Janet Murguia, president of the National Council of La Raza.
Your organization doesn't even believe in the validity of the United States as a nation. Who cares what you think?
"The first deportation [after] his executive order is of a working mom with two U.S. kids," she added.

On the campaign trail, Trump initially promised to enact a deportation force to deport all 11 million undocumented immigrants, starting with dangerous criminals.

#7  Salam Fayyad, about whom Fred writes

...Fayyad's political agenda holds that neither violence nor peaceful negotiations have brought the Paleostinians any closer to an independent state. The alternative to both, violent negotiations, doesn't seem to be working too well, either...

has a PhD in economics from the University of Texas at Austin and came to the PA from the IMF, according to Wikipedia. He had an interesting West Bank First approach, arguing that if the PA put in place a functioning, transparent infrastructure, statehood would inevitably follow. He did his technocratic best, and was much praised by donors for it; naturally President Abbas fired him for something or other. He was replaced by a linguistics professor.

He is probably the only Palestinian suitable for the job, though he would be as poor a fit at the UN as he was in the PA, but given the PA's current push to achieve statehood by UN imposition rather than negotiation with Israel, it is of course impossible. Had Hillary Clinton won, he'd have been a shoe-in.

Woman Born in Nazi Germany: Trump Isn't Like Hitler, Rioting Leftists Are
[DCClothesline] Inga Andrews lived in Dusseldorf, Germany during the Second World War and spent time hiding in air raid shelters and helping to clean up rubble from destroyed buildings.

If anyone is in a position to have an opinion on the left’s hysterical comparison of Donald Trump and Hitler, it’s Inga. Here’s what she told the Independent Review Journal;

"What is going on in this country is giving me chills. Trump is not like Hitler. Just because a leader wants order doesn’t mean they’re like a dictator.

What reminds me more of Hitler than anything else isn’t Trump, it’s the destruction of freedom of speech on the college campuses -- the agendas fueled by the professors.

That’s how Hitler started, he pulled in the youth to miseducate them, to brainwash them, it’s happening today."

America needs to grow up. The young people who are rioting and destroying property, who have no respect for elders and freedom of speech, I was so proud to become a citizen of this country.

Professors shouldn’t be telling their students to go after freedom of speech. They should be telling them that this is the greatest country in the world.

The demonstrators can’t tell you why they’re demonstrating. I’m not a Republican. I’m not a Democrat. I just want the country to be at peace.

I see what is happening here reflecting some of the things we saw in Germany, and it’s terrifying. It’s sad. But it’s not because of Trump. It’s because of poor education.

Trump is not like Hitler. The theory that he is is propaganda. Yes, I lived through some of Nazi Germany, but all you have to do is read some books about that period to see how wrong that theory is."

She went further, slamming the self-entitlement of today’s millennials compared to what her generation had to endure.

"It saddens me that we are teaching garbage in the schools and in the college. We don’t teach history anymore. History repeats itself over and over.

The kids out there today haven’t ever lived through a war like I did. I remember sitting in a rock pile, cleaning rocks, to rebuild Germany. I remember eating maple leaves and grass to survive."

Andrews survived the war before making it to the United States after her mother married an American, but not before undergoing extreme vetting at a number of different U.S. military camps.

"So we had a vetting process like what we are going through now because you have to have this to make the country safe," said Andrews.

Although she encountered difficulties learning English, Andrews said she would always try to speak English rather than German when in public, "Because we believed we needed to honor the country that opened its doors for us. It was rude to do otherwise."

Andrews concluded by warning that "we will repeat history" if Americans sacrifice the ability to think freely and unquestionably swallow media propaganda about Trump.
Years ago at Ramstein, I had an older local national fellow tell me, 'you know, if it were not for you Americans, we'd all be speaking Russian today.' I said nothing, but shook his hand and smiled. The older Germans like Frau Andrews get it.

Government
EPA 'UnCivil Servants' Upset by Arrival of Trump
[PJ] The feel-good story of the year so far:

Across the vast federal bureaucracy, Donald J. Trump’s arrival in the White House has spread anxiety, frustration, fear and resistance among many of the two million nonpolitical civil servants who say they work for the public, not a particular president.

At the Environmental Protection Agency, a group of scientists strategized this past week about how to slow-walk President Trump’s environmental orders without being fired. At the Treasury Department, civil servants are quietly gathering information about whistle-blower protections as they polish their résumés.

At the United States Digital Service -- the youthful cadre of employees who left jobs at Google, Facebook or Microsoft to join the Obama administration -- workers are debating how to stop Mr. Trump should he want to use the databases they made more efficient to target specific immigrant groups.

"It’s almost a sense of dread, as in, what will happen to us," said Gabrielle Martin, a trial lawyer and 30-year veteran at the Denver office of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, where colleagues now share daily, grim predictions about the fate of their jobs under Mr. Trump’s leadership.

"It’s like the movie music when the shark is coming," Ms. Martin said, referring to "Jaws," the 1975 thriller. "People are just wary -- is the shark going to come up out of the water?"

The Grand Turk
Blacklisting accelerates in Erdogan's Turkey
As the Instapundit says, it wasn't a failed coup, it was a successful purge. A purge has consequences, just as an omelette has broken eggs.
On 1 September, the life of Ahmet and Fatma Özer*, married teachers from Istanbul, changed dramatically. Accused of being sympathisers of Fethullah Gülen, both were fired. On the same day Ayse Yilmaz*, a law student, received a text informing her that her father, a civil servant, had been detained for alleged involvement in terrorism and coup plotting. “It was the day we were blacklisted,” Fatma recalls. “The day we were erased as citizens.”

The Justice and Development party (AKP) government accuses Gülen, an Islamic cleric who lives in the US, of organising the bloody coup attempt on 15 July. However, the extent of Gülen’s involvement remains unclear. Nevertheless, those who have expressed even the slightest sympathy with the cleric’s views, or who have made use of his businesses – which include a bank, schools and media organisations – have found themselves accused of coup plotting, like the Özer and Yilmaz families.

On 20 July last year the president, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, declared a state of emergency, enabling him and the AKP cabinet to bypass parliament and rule by decree. The crackdown on possible coup plotters has since been turned into an all-out witch-hunt not only against alleged Gülen sympathisers but also leftists, Kurds and anyone critical of the government.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
2 Israelis lightly hurt by stones thrown at car in West Bank
[IsraelTimes] Two Israelis were lightly hurt Saturday when Paleostinians hurled stones at their vehicles on the road near the Paleostinian West Bank village of Husan, close to the Etzion Bloc settlements.

One of the injured was treated by a medical team at the scene, and the other was evacuated to a nearby hospital, Israel Radio reported.

Earlier Saturday, a Paleostinian woman was placed in durance vile
Book 'im, Mahmoud!
after she pulled out a knife and headed toward a Border Police force in the flashpoint West Bank city of Hebron.

The troops identified her intentions, drew their weapons and called on the woman to halt. The suspect came to a sudden stop without any shots fired, and threw the knife to the floor.

No injuries were reported in the incident, which took place at the Tomb of the Patriarchs, a site considered holy to both Jews and Moslems.

The woman, who is reportedly a resident of Hebron, was taken for questioning by security forces.
