Occam's Razor – Did NSA Admiral Mike Rogers Warn Trump On November 17th, 2016?
[The Last Refuge] Sometimes the utilization of Timelines means you have to look at the new information with a keen awareness of specific events. In hindsight, NSA Director Admiral Mike Rogers may have notified Team Trump of Obama’s Intelligence Community (James Clapper and John Brennan) spying on their activity.

As you look at the FISA request dates below, it’s important to note that NSA Director Admiral Mike Rogers would be keenly aware of both the June request ‐ Denied, and the October request ‐ Granted. Pay specific attention to the October request. "October"!

Skipping down to the Bottom Line:

Occam’s Razor. NSA Director Admiral Mike Rogers didn’t want to participate in the spying scheme (Clapper, Brennan, Etc.), which was the baseline for President Obama’s post presidency efforts to undermine Donald Trump and keep Trump from digging into the Obama labyrinth underlying his remaining loyalists. After the October spying operation went into effect, Rogers unknown loyalty was a risk to the Obama objective. 10 Days after the election Rogers travels to President-Elect Trump without notifying those who were involved in the intel scheme.

Did NSA Director Mike Rogers wait for a SCIF (Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility) to be set up in Trump Tower, and then notify the President-elect he was being monitored by President Obama?

Peter Thiel's Palantir is Powering Trump's Immigration Agenda
Moved to Page 2.

[Fortune] A new report from The Intercept details a system, Investigative Case Management (ICM), created by Palantir Technologies to support investigations by the Immigrations and Customs Enforcement agency. The system is scheduled to reach full capacity this fall.

The system, developed through a $41 million contract awarded in 2014, is designed to help ICE agents identify illegal immigrants by collating data from a half-dozen law enforcement databases. By cross-referencing data from the FBI, ATF, DEA, and other entities, ICM can build a profile including a person’s job, background, schooling, relationships, address, criminal record, and other data.
ACLU privacy expert Jay Stanley told The Intercept that conclusions drawn using the ICM tools could be used to engineer the sort of mass deportations President Trump has promised.

#ObamaGate Is a Lot More than a Hashtag
[PJ] If I were a Democrat, I'd be afraid. I'd be very afraid.

Forget the usual smokescreen of hyper-partisan blather from Chuck Schumer on "Meet the Press" or the myriad calls for Trump's head from the usual press suspects and consider the situation: Congressional committees, the FBI, not to mention numerous avid media organizations and who knows who else (NSA? CIA? ASPCA?) have been investigating putative Trump-Russia collusion for some time now and come up with... exactly nothing.

Are they likely to come up with something of significance at this point? Almost certainly not.

So now we have Trump's bold, brash, "unhinged" Twitter accusations that Obama wiretapped him. This came after Mark Levin, Breitbart, Andrew C. McCarthy, Louise Mensch and others I've forgotten about or am unaware of reported about two appeals to FISA courts (one denied last summer and one approved in October) for permission to tap phones in Trump Tower. Did they happen?

It seems that tapping of some sort actually occurred because it was virtually acknowledged in tweets from Obama speechwriter Jon Favreau, who sprang to action only hours after Trump tweeted, writing : "I'd be careful about reporting that Obama said there was no wiretapping. Statement just said that neither he nor the WH ordered it." Kevin Lewis, a spokesman for the former president, had almost simultaneously declared: "Neither President Obama nor any White House official ever ordered surveillance on any U. S. citizen." Ordered? That's what we used to call plausible deniability and now is known as a wiggle word.

Wishful thinking. Be afraid as a non-member of ruling elites. As we've seen since Jan 20th, they openly disregard any orders by an elected president they don't like.

White House counsel seeking access to FISA order that targeted Trump team ‐ if one exists
[HOT AIR] Thus opens a new can of worms. Assuming there is an order, does this amount to White House interference with an ongoing DOJ investigation?
But a senior White House official said that Donald F. McGahn II, the president’s chief counsel, was working to secure access to what Mr. McGahn believed to be an order issued by the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court authorizing some form of surveillance related to Mr. Trump and his associates.

The official offered no evidence to support the notion that such an order exists. It would be a highly unusual breach of the Justice Department’s traditional independence on law enforcement matters for the White House to order it to turn over such an investigative document.

Any request for information from a top White House official about a continuing investigation would be a stunning departure from protocols intended to insulate the F.B.I. from political pressure.
Another question: How does this square with the White House’s new position that Congress should investigate wiretapping as part of its Russia probe and that it’ll have no further comment on the matter? Does that mean McGahn is giving up his search for the order, or does it mean he discovered that there is no order and this is his and Trump’s way of punting?

James Rosen on being the target of surveillance under the Obama administration
[Hot Air] With the Trump administration claiming Trump Tower may have been wiretapped and a spokesman for Obama denying he was involved in such a thing, some are recalling the targeting of Fox News reporter James Rosen by the Obama Department of Justice. Rosen appeared on Fox News today to discuss his experience.
"I have to clarify that I was not wiretapped, my parents were not wiretapped, which is where you place a listening device on someone’s telephone line and you listen to their conversations," Rosen said. He continued, "What happened to me was that the Attorney General, Eric Holder, under Barack Obama as president secretly designated me a criminal co-conspirator and a flight risk and thereby had a federal judge give the government permission to rifle through all my gmails.

"They could read the emails, and then also to get all the phone records associated with about 20 phones that I used at that time in my reporting. All of those phone lines were 202 or 703, which are the area codes associated with Washington and the Pentagon, northern Virginia area. One of those 20 phone lines was 718 and that referred to my parent’s house on Staten Island at that time."
As to whether his case could shed any light on the claims being made by President Trump, Rosen said, "There’s just a lot we don’t know." He added, "If it’s true that the Obama administration went to the FISA court to get some kind of surveillance at Trump Tower, whether it was of a computer tower or whether it was of the president’s telephone as he seems to believe when he uses terms like wiretapping, we would like to know what basis of probable cause would have been asserted in order to secure that permission for that surveillance." if he thinks something like what Trump is alleging could happen, Rosen replied, "It’s entirely plausible. This is the nature of the age in which we live."

Joe the Plumber: Be Patient, 'Lot of Things to Unscrew' from Obamacare
[PJ] NATIONAL HARBOR, Md. ‐ Joe Wurzelbacher, best known as "Joe the Plumber" after questioning then-Sen. Barack Obama on camera during a 2008 campaign stop, said he will view President Trump’s presidency as a win if he follows through on his promises in three main areas.
"Since 2008, I’ve really focused on state’s rights and Second Amendment issues, and so I go on Fox and go on a lot of different places, but I talk mostly about those things because that’s really where the power is supposed to be ‐ with the states. The federal government has essentially three jobs and I think President Trump is going to be able to do that ‐ one, create a good environment for business, two, secure American borders and three, make our military strong," Wurzelbacher told PJM during an interview at the Conservative Political Action Conference last weekend.

"As long as he does those three things, I’ll see it as a win. All those social issues and everything else gets pushed back to the state level because there’s no reason a centralized federal government should be passing laws for the rest of the land; that’s where the states comes in," he added.
Wurzelbacher said he is most concerned about the effect of Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rules and regulations on small businesses.

Economy
Train stories: Spurring Rail Investment
[Daily Caller] Private companies are making a considerable impact in moving U.S. goods to markets here and abroad in an energy-efficient and environmentally friendly manner that is aiding our economy, creating jobs and saving wear-and-tear on our highways. Reliable and affordable transportation options are critical for the success of many of these small businesses and agricultural producers.

Short line railroads connect these economic drivers in our communities across our nation to customers worldwide. These rail lines provide crucial economic corridors that serve communities and support jobs and development. Senator Debbie Stabenow (D-Michigan) joined me in leading the introduction of the bipartisan S. 407, the Building Rail Access for Customers and the Economy (BRACE) Act, to enable short line railroads to make long-term plans for infrastructure repairs and upgrades, improving the link between our rural communities and the national freight railroad network.

#1  these short lines are on track that was abandoned by the class 1 Railroads

in all States where the short lines are operating, there are State subsidies (usually used for track upgrading, signal work, grade crossing work). The BRACE would put federal $ into this process. IMO, the justification for this is pretty iffy. To determine whether such subsidies serve a public interest requires guessing about future industrial activity, future relationships between producers and suppliers, various competitive products in the marketplace, etc. Any honest analyst would put huge error bands on their analysis. Dishonest analysts will be able to justify or deny whatever the politicians want.

#4  Lord Garth is correct. Most of the lines had insufficient traffic for the Big Boys to bother with. But they also lost all the union rules when the short line operators bought them up. Now they are more like a 'Mom and Pop' operation, where the General Manager also drives the locomotive.

Customer service improved, too, so smaller shippers - ignored by the Big Boys when they were retrenching - began using the trains again.

Almost anything you put in a freight car will replace three or four big trucks on the Interstate. Trucks will still deliver the stuff to a warehouse near you.

Earnest Dodges Question: Obama Officials Involved in Intel Leaks ?
[Free Beacon] Former White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest would not give a definitive answer Sunday when asked if any Obama loyalists have been behind recent intelligence leaks in the Trump administration.

ABC host Martha Raddatz referenced the accusation of President Trump's deputy assistant, Sebastian Gorka, that former President Barack Obama and his staffers are behind leaks against Trump officials. When confronted with this accusation, Earnest chose not to answer the question, instead praising the intelligence community.
"Martha, what I can tell you is that the men and women of our intelligence community are patriots," Earnest said. "And these are professionals who have served presidents in both administrations and they took an oath to protect this country and set aside their own political views."

"And that's what the men and women of our intelligence community do, and they should be lauded for that," Earnest added.
Earnest then took an apparent jab at the Trump administration, saying that the intelligence community does not deserve "to be attacked or accused of having a political motive."

Several Trump advisers have urged the president to fire political appointees from the Obama administration who are still serving in government, Politico reported Thursday.

Sen. Chris Coons (D-DE): Sorry everyone, I was full of kak about Trump and Russians
[Wash Times] Sen. Chris Coons, Delaware Democrat, on Sunday walked back his bombshell declaration about transcripts showing Russia-Trump collusion, saying he had no proof such documents exist and apologizing for any "hyperventilating."
"I have no hard evidence of collusion," Mr. Coons told "Fox News Sunday."

He said he was sorry for any misinterpretation of his comments, which blew up on social media after a Friday interview on MSNBC.

"So to the extent of those comments, they might be in some way misinterpreted as leading to sort of a hyperventilating attitude here in the Senate about this, I apologize for that," Mr. Coons said. "That’s not what I was trying to do."

At the same time, he said, "I am confident that intelligence exists that is relevant to this question. Not that says there is collusion, and proof of it, that’s not what I was trying to say."

The Democrats' Catch-of-the-Day: Fishing for Trump
[IsraelNationalNews] Right now it’s Democrats 3, Republicans zero, so far as being politically adroit and savvy in the early going of Donald Trump’s Presidency.

But that’s just from my own unscientific count...and so now it’s Attorney General Jeff Sessions they want for a souvenir.

The Democrats got their first head on the wall when they got three San Francisco hippies, called judges, to stop Trump from going ahead with his immigration pause. That was the first sign that the Democrats meant it when they said that they intended to resist, defy and obstruct the President anywhere and everywhere.

Now they won’t rest until they’ve hunted down and captured every member of Trump’s cabinet, or anyone associated with Trump.

Or, more to the point, the Democrats will always have Russia...always Russia to pin on any GOP hopeful. Russia is their ace in the hole.

Somewhere down the line you took a harmless sip of vodka with a Russian ambassador? ‐ Gotcha!

In the past, Russia was seldom on the map for the Democrats.

They were not bothered when Obama leaned over and whispered to Russia’s Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev that, "After my election I have more flexibility." To do what? Nobody asked. Nobody cared. Because it was Obama and if the Russians are good for Obama the Russians are good for America.

Not so these days under Trump.

That slice of Obama coding was caught from a hot microphone but it was cold news for the news media. The Republicans did not react either.

That’s because Republicans do not know how to fight street fight. The Democrats sure do, especially when they’re licking their wounds. Anything goes.

So Down Goes Michael Flynn as Trump’s National Security Adviser. That was their second trophy. Flynn, a good man, a man who deserved better, never had a chance after those leaks found him in a (innocuous) chat with a Russian envoy. That was all it took -- and next on the menu?

Now, even as we speak, they’ve got their claws on Jeff Sessions, Trump’s Attorney General, also a good man who deserves better, and he too got caught having a cocktail with a Russian and that is all America is talking about because the Democrats want it that way.

Do they want what’s good for the country? Not a chance.

They want what’s good for themselves and the Party as I wrote last week here in "The Democrats are not done ruining the country." This starts with Obama who has elected himself our shadow President. He’s calling the shots from his bunker only blocks from the White House...and today, Trump, silent no more, has gone public with an accusation that Obama had him wiretapped.

Since Obama was so good at community organizing it figures he would be just as good at community disorganizing ‐ and that’s what his Progressive thugs are counting on. He won’t quit and the Democrats won’t quit obstructing. In fact Obama is just getting started.

Israel, for example, is still standing tall despite his many efforts to bring her down. There is so much more damage to inflict here and abroad.

Sessions? I hate to say this, but I think he folded and quit on himself. Recusing himself from taking part in any investigation related to the elections -- that was a mistake. That action presumed guilt, surely weakness. We expected something bolder. We had hoped for a fighting Attorney General, someone to say, "How dare you impugn my integrity. I am fighting this all the way."

I think he’s cooked and it’s his own fault.

But then again, he’s a Republican and Republicans still do not know that against the Democrats it’s for keeps.

This is war and it won’t be over until there is only one political party left standing.

Former Bush attorney general: Trump likely right about surveillance
[The Hill] Former Attorney General Michael Mukasey on Sunday said that President Trump is likely correct that there was surveillance on Trump Tower for intelligence purposes, but incorrect in accusing former President Barack Obama of ordering the wiretapping.
"I think he’s right in that there was surveillance and that it was conducted at the behest of the attorney general -- at the Justice Department," Mukasey told ABC’s "This Week."
Trump on Saturday accused Obama of wiretapping Trump Tower in New York City just before the November election.

Norwegian ship rescues 503 refugees from Med Sea

[Ynet] A Norwegian ship has rescued 503 people from the Mediterranean Sea in eight operations since Thursday.

The Norwegian Police Service says the Siem Pilot arrived Sunday in the Sicilian port of Catania with 503 migrants on board. A seriously ill 16-year-old boy died being helped on board, police said.

The agency said the migrants—358 men, 29 women and 116 children, including babies—sailed from Libya last week in rubber dinghies and wooden boats. It said many of them were injured, some with gunshot wounds, burn injuries and head wounds. It did not explain the reasons for the wounds or injuries. Police said two people on board suspected of being human traffickers were detained and handed over to Italian authorities for further investigation.

Arabia
New wave of US air raids on Qaeda in Yemen
[AlAhram] The United States on Sunday launched a new wave of air raids against al-Qaeda in Yemen, as Islamist turbans fled from towns being targeted to mountainous areas, security sources said.

At least five early morning raids hit targets linked to al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula
...the latest incarnation of various Qaeda and Qaeda-allied groups, including the now-defunct Aden-Abyan Islamic Army that boomed the USS Cole in 2000...
(AQAP) in the southern Shabwa and central Baida provinces, security sources told AFP.

There were no immediate reports of casualties.

Among the areas from which the radical group pulled its operatives is the Baida town of Ghail, where top AQAP commander Abdulelah al-Dhahab has reportedly been holed up, the sources said.

Suspected AQAP gunnies meanwhile killed five soldiers at a checkpoint in the southern province of Abyan
...a governorate of Yemen. The region was a base to the Aden-Abyan Islamic Army terrorist group until it dropped the name and joined al-Qaeda. Its capital is Zinjibar. In March 2011, al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula declared the governate an Islamic Emirate after seizing control of the region. The New York Times fastidiously reported that those in control, while Islamic hard boyz, are not in fact al-Qaeda, but something else that looks, tastes, smells, and acts the same. Yemeni government forces launched an effort to re-establish control of the region when President-for-Life Saleh was tossed and the carnage continues...
, which has itself been hit by air strikes in recent days, security sources and medics there said.

Since Thursday, Washington, which regards AQAP as the Islamist turbans network's most dangerous branch, has stepped up its air and dronezaps on Yemeni provinces including Baida, Shabwa and Abyan.

The Pentagon on Friday confirmed it had carried out more than 30 strikes against AQAP, conducted in partnership with the Yemeni government.

Local officials and tribal sources told AFP that at least 20 Islamist turbans were killed on Thursday and Friday.

The bombing campaign comes after a botched January 29 raid against AQAP left multiple civilians and a US Navy SEAL dead in the first military strike ordered by President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
Al-Qaeda has exploited a power vacuum created by two years of war between Yemen's government and sock puppets of the Medes and the Persians who control the capital to consolidate its presence, particularly in the south and east.

[AlAhram] Dozens of Coptic families have fled North Sinai as jihadist attacks against Christians grow in number. Simultaneously, Ansar Beit al-Maqdis fired missiles across the border into Israel, prompting an Israeli response that killed several Ansar Beit al-Maqdis operatives in Egypt, and security forces launched a new sweep of Gabal al-Halal, a notorious murderous Moslem hideout.

The developments raise questions not only about the capabilities of Islamic State

More Copts flee North Sinai over terror threat
[AlAhram] The number of Coptic families who have fled North Sinai’s El-Arish for Port Said after a series attacks on Christians has risen to 28 families with 93 members, priest Armia Fahmy, the spokesperson of the Port Said Coptic archbishopric, told Ahram Arabic website on Sunday.

Fahmy says that the families have been housed at the International Scouts Camp, as well as in homes provided by the Mary Girgis Church in Port Fouad and at the city’s relief centre. A number of students have been enrolled at different Port Said schools, with some already attending classes.

The spokesperson said that the Bishop of Port Said thanked the governorate and security officials for providing assistance to the families, and added that the number of fleeing families is expected to increase, therefore requiring more housing.

At the start of this month, the number of Copts who have fled North Sinai to the city of Ismailiya had risen to 143 families.

The cabinet had said earlier that a total 118 Coptic families have fled North Sinai, 96 of whom were given shelter in neighbouring Ismailiya, eight in Qalioubiya, 12 in Assiut, and two in Cairo.

The recent series of killings in North Sinai came after the Egyptian affiliate of the Islamic State

Europe
Brussels mayor imposes curfew in Molenbeek
[GEO.TV] Mayor Francoise Schepmans issued on Saturday an executive order imposing partial curfew on Molenbeek, a municipality dominated by Moroccans.

The curfew bans the gathering of more than three people from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The locality is known for its radicalised youth and its allegedly deep connections with international Lions of Islam organizations such as ISIS.

The area came into limelight after the main culprits of Gay Paree attacks, a series of coordinated attacks which killed 130 people in November 2015, were nabbed
Yez got nuttin' on me, coppers! Nuttin'!
from here.

According to the internal reports of relevant departments, the café culture of Molenbeek is dominated by unemployed and deeply radicalised youth who hang around and drink mint tea endlessly drawing strength from the deeply conservative community. Previously, the locality has shared a tense relationship with the police. The socialist establishment, however, have been more lenient towards the immigrants colonists.

The mayor has imposed curfew following talks with police, the Brussels transport company and the local housing company. The decision was taken after local residents complained of growing verbal and physical stressing as well as drug dealing

The local housing company has agreed to improve lighting, install closed circuit television camera (CCTV) and hire more people to keep the area clean.

Area’s police chief, Johan De Decker said, "They [the miscreants] deal drugs, ring people's doorbells at night, set fire to rubbish bins and congregate in the entrances of buildings."

Around 3,308 non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in Belgium have been subjected to judicial investigation, out of which 144 were found to have links with terrorist organizations.

Almost all of these NGOs are located in Molenbeek. These NGOs show enormous activities on the paper, from youth movements to sports or even running tea houses.

These NGOs are rigorously being checked if they are receiving illegal subsidies from the local authorities.

The police have also investigated over 8,600 houses to check whether occupants had proper registration papers or they were residing illegally.

Donetsk water plant shuts down after only one day

The Avdievka water plant, repaired only hours before after nearly 10 days of being offline, is once against offline due to artillery shelling, according to Russian language news accounts.

According to several Ukrainian news accounts, shelling from Russian backed rebels damaged power transmission lines to the plant. However, rebel media claim it was shelling by Ukrainian forces which forced the shutdown of the plant.

In the time between repair of the plant and the latest shutdown, the town of Avdievka managed to increase their water reserves which were low after being shut down after several days of shelling. None of the other nearby towns on both sides of the line of contact have released information about the condition of their supplies.

Rebel media reports say that Ukrainian forces started shelling the plant at around 0830 hours March 5th, forcing workers at the plant to seek shelter. But according to a news account in korrespondent.net, rebel shelling commenced at 1610 on March 5th, and caused damage to the power lines servicing the plant.

According to a news report in lb.ua, Ukrainian forces lost one killed and 12 wounded in ongoing fighting in Donetsk and Lugansk, with Ukrainian forces suffering hits by rebel artillery in most of the same places suffered over the last two days near the Mariupol region, near the Sea of Azov.

According to a news account in censor.net.ua, rebel forces hit Ukrainian positions with mortar and tank gun fire at Avdievka, Butova mine, Peski, Opytnoye, Verkhnetoretskoye, Zaitsevo and Kamenka.

In Lugansk, rebel 152mm artillery struck Ukrainian positions at Kalinovo, Popasnaya, Novozvanovka and Troitskoye.

According to rebel media, a total of 19 residential buildings were damaged in Ukrainian shelling over the previous 24 hours. One news release from the Donetsk ministry of defense said that Ukrainian forces fired on rebel positions on the line of contact in Donetsk more than 2,400 times, which is a nearly 50 percent increase from the previous day. That number includes small arms fire as well as artillery shelling.

Of the total of residential buildings damaged, four were in the Petrovskiy district of western Donetsk city, 11 were in Gorlovka, which is directly north of Donetsk city, three in Yasinovataya and one in Dokuchaevsk.

Among the 13 towns and villages hit by Ukrainian artillery were Staromikailovka, Trudovskoye, Yrlrnovka, in western Donetsk city, Yasinovataya, Spartak, Zaitsevo and Gorlovka.

Four villages near Mariupol were hit by Ukrainian artillery including Dokuchaevsk, Bezimya, Sahanka and Kominternovo.

A separate rebel news release said that two rebel soldiers were killed and one was wounded in the shelling.

According to a separate account which appeared in novorosinform.org quoting militiamen near the Mariupol region, two small Ukrainian Navy boats, said to be moored in Mariupol went to a position about one kilometer offshore of Bezymennoye and started firing heavy machine guns at rebel troops stationed there. Rebel troops returned fire. The gun battle last 30 minutes before the boats returned to base.

The Obama Camp's Disingenuous Denials on FISA Surveillance of Trump
[National Review] President Trump’s early Saturday morning tweeting has exploded to the forefront an uncovered scandal I’ve been talking about since early January (including in this weekend’s column): The fact that the Obama Justice Department and the FBI investigated associates of Donald Trump, and likely Trump himself, in the heat of the presidential campaign.

To summarize, reporting indicates that, prior to June 2016, the Obama Justice Department and FBI considered a criminal investigation of Trump associates, and perhaps Trump himself, based on concerns about connections to Russian financial institutions. Preliminary poking around indicated that there was nothing criminal involved.

Rather than shut the case down, though, the Obama Justice Department converted it into a national-security investigation under the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA). FISA allows the government, if it gets court permission, to conduct electronic surveillance (which could include wiretapping, monitoring of e-mail, and the like) against those it alleges are "agents of a foreign power." FISA applications and the evidence garnered from them are classified ‐ i.e., we would not know about any of this unless someone had leaked classified information to the media, a felony.

In June, the Obama Justice Department submitted an application that apparently "named" Trump in addition to some of his associates. As I have stressed, it is unclear whether "named" in this context indicates that Trump himself was cited as a person the Justice Department was alleging was a Russian agent whom it wanted to surveil. It could instead mean that Trump’s name was merely mentioned in an application that sought to conduct surveillance on other alleged Russian agents.

President Trump’s tweets on Saturday claimed that "President Obama . . . tapp[ed] my phones[,]" which makes it more likely that Trump was targeted for surveillance, rather than merely mentioned in the application.

Mark Levin on Trump Wiretapping Claims: ‘The Evidence Is Overwhelming'
[Breitbart] Sunday on Fox News Channel’s "Fox & Friends," while discussing President Donald Trump’s tweets accusing the former Obama administration of wiretapping Trump Tower before the election, conservative radio talk show host Mark Levin broke down the wiretapping reporting.

Levin said, "Well, a pleasure to be here. The evidence is overwhelming. This is not about President Trump’s tweeting. This is about the Obama administration spying, and the question is not whether it spied. We know they went to the FISA court twice. The question is who they did spy on and the extent of the spying that is the Trump campaign, the Trump transition, Trump surrogates."

Levin then read several news articles about the surveillance.

Actually it is. President Trump has accused his predecessor of orchestrating surveillance of his personal communication.

The question is who they did spy on and the extent of the spying that is the Trump campaign, the Trump transition, Trump surrogates.

No, the question is did President Obama himself or in collusion with members of his staff conspire to surveil then-candidate Trump's Trump Tower personal communications. Because, contrary to the 'oh you know what he meant' squad, that's what he is alleging.

Obama Spy Chief Claims Trump Wasn't Wiretapped – But He Has A History Of Misleading Statements
James Clapper, Obama’s Director of National Intelligence, went on Meet the Press to discuss the charges. He offered a blanket denial that a FISA court order was ever issued against then-nominee Donald Trump.

#6  Surveillance doesn't necessarily mean wire taps.

It could as Skidmark stated, mean the Feds used some "electronic devices" to monitor the goings on of the Trump campaign and feeding info to Shillary.

Of course, the real issue for the deep state is the vast corruption and pay to play of the Clinton Foundation which touched everything in the Obama administration...Obama had to know what was going on...I mean he probably cashed a few checks.

If this had been an Obama tweet about the Bush administration, the press would have gone slathering nuts to dig up evidence it occurred. The fact they are working so hard to discredit the claim just tells me there is some truth if not a lot of truth to the matter.

Remember "the guilty dog barks first" and the Obama administration and the press are barking like fox hounds on a hunt.

#7  It is of great import to note the consequences of 8 years of Obama allies and senior civil service "burrowing" by political appointees and preferential promotions to create nodes of allies whose allegiance is to a political party not the constitution. This is a serious threat to the stability and confidence of bedrock components of our government. It's cleansing will be rife with charges of racism and fascism. The complicit media will stoke civil unrest not seen since the 60's or perhaps worse. If not cleansed, worse will follow....

Malaysia expels ‘rude’ North Korean ambassador over Kim Jong-nam assassination row
[SCMP] North Korea’s ambassador to Malaysia has been ordered to leave the country by a deadline of 6pm Monday in a major break in diplomatic relations over the airport liquidation of the half-brother of Pyongyang’s leader.

Malaysia said it expelled ambassador Kang Chol for refusing to apologise for his strong accusations over Malaysia’s handling of the investigation into the February 13 killing of Kim Jong-nam at Kuala Lumpur’s airport.

North Korea has not acknowledged the dead man’s identity but has repeatedly disparaged the murder investigation, accusing Malaysia of conniving with its enemies.

Malaysia’s Foreign Minister Anifah Aman said a notice was sent to the North Korean Embassy about 6pm Saturday, declaring Chol persona non grata. The notice meant that Kang must leave the country within 48 hours.

Arch-rival South Korea has blamed the North for the murder, citing what they say was a standing order from leader Kim Pudge Jong-un
...the overweight, pouty-looking hereditary potentate of North Korea. Pudge appears to believe in his own divinity, but has yet to produce any loaves and fishes, so his subjects remain malnourished...
to kill his exiled half-brother who may have been seen as a potential rival.

The diplomatic spat erupted last month when Malaysian police rejected North Korean diplomats’ demands to hand over Kim’s body.

Kang then claimed the investigation was politically motivated and said Kuala Lumpur was conspiring with "hostile forces".

Malaysia had summoned Kang for a dressing-down over his accusation, with Prime Minister Najib Razak describing the ambassador’s statement as "totally uncalled for [and] diplomatically rude".

Also in the west of Mosul, the Defense Ministry said in a statement its fighter jets destroyed four headquarters run by the group in Qayrawan and Senaa.

The statement added that Popular Mobilization Forces (PMU) also killed 15 Islamic State members and destroyed trapped vehicles in Khedr Elias, at the town of Tal Afar, Islamic State’s major stronghold near the borders with Syria.

The source further explained that the air strike was carried out based on accurate intelligence information.

Security forces are slowly advancing in the battles to liberate the western side of the city of Mosul, due to the presence of civilians in the axes of combat with the Islamic State group.

Anadolu Agency quoted activist Omar al-Taee as saying that the civilians, mostly women and kiddies, were killed and ten others were maimed in fierce ground battles and shelling over Nabi Sheet district, an area close to central Mosul and the first to be invaded by government troops in their advance towards the Old City.

No comment has yet been made of the civilian casualties, but the Iraqi government has reiterated that ensuring civilians’ safety was a top priority in its Mosul campaign. However,

The U.S. army said Saturday that 21 non-combatants were killed in nine separate strikes by the U.S.-led coalition fighting Islamic State in Iraq and Syria between November and January, bringing the total of civilians unintentionally killed by the coalition since the start of operations against the bully boy group in 2014 to 220.

Lions of Islam continues.

Federal Police chief, Lt. Gen. Shaker Jawdat, said in a statement the forces continue advances inside the neighborhoods of Dawasa, Dindan and Nabi Sheeth, killing tens of Lions of Islam and destroying many of their combat equipment. He said the troops have become a few meters away from the government complex, adding that retaking that area could mean "a 80 percent strategic and moral victory in western Mosul battles".

Earlier on Sunday, Iraqi government forces pushed deeper Sunday into western Mosul seeking to drive out Islamic State murderous Moslems, storming four major districts.

Chief of the Joint Operations Command’s operations in Nineveh, Lt. Gen. Abdul-Amir Yarallah, said in a statement that Federal Police and Rapid Response forces invaded the districts of Dindan and Dawasah, in the easternmost area of western Mosul, while the Counter-Terrorism Force invaded al-Sumoud and Tal al-Rumman in the westernmost area.

Iraqi forces recaptured eastern Mosul in January, ending three months of fighting to retake the city which fell to Islamic State Lions of Islam in 2014. A new offensive began in mid February to retake the western region, with generals from the Iraqi forces and the allied U.S.-led coalition reporting faster collapses and weaker resistance on IS behalf.

Western Mosul is smaller in space from the eastern side, albeit denser in population and residential areas, with officials predicting to retake that area within six months.

Egypt's army arrests 12 Ansar Bait Al-Maqdis leaders in Sinai
[AlAhram] Egypt's Army said in a statement Saturday evening that security forces had incarcerated

12 "extremely dangerous" leaders of Ansar Bait al-Maqdis, known as "Sinai Province" in central Sinai.

The statement said the apprehended leaders were arrested while they held meeting to plan a range of "deadly" attacks in the near future.

Egypt has been battling waves of turban attacks in North Sinai, centred mainly in Rafah, Shiekh Zuewied and Arish cities since the ouster of former Islamist president Mohammed Morsi in July 2013, following nation-wide protests against his rule.

Southeast Asia
Official gunned down in front of home in Thai south
[Bangkok Post] A local leader was gunned down in front of his home in Yala province. Madolor Salae, chairman of a local administration organization in Muang district, was exiting his vehicle to close the gate of his house yesterday morning when two men on a motorcycle drove up and fired multiple shots at him before fleeing. Madolor was taken to Yala Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The murder is the latest violent incident in the Muslim-dominated far South, which is raising new concerns among Thai authorities and local communities. The Buddhist network in Yala recently asked the government for more protection and financial help for families of victims.

Their calls stem from a series of recent attacks that have targeted Buddhist villagers, including the killing of four people in Narathiwat province last week and a couple in Songkhla province on February 28. The pair were killed and their bodies dumped in a river. Police investigators believe the attackers wanted their car to make a car bomb.

Comey Asks Justice Dept. to Reject Trump’s Wiretapping Claim
[NYTImes] The F.B.I. director, James B. Comey, asked the Justice Department this weekend to publicly reject President Trump’s assertion that President Barack Obama ordered the tapping of Mr. Trump’s phones, senior American officials said on Sunday. Mr. Comey has argued that the highly charged claim is false and must be corrected, they said, but the department has not released any such statement.

Mr. Comey, who made the request on Saturday after Mr. Trump leveled his allegation on Twitter, has been working to get the Justice Department to knock down the claim because it falsely insinuates that the F.B.I. broke the law, the officials said.
Or, perhaps because it lays bare just how political the FBI has become...
A spokesman for the F.B.I. declined to comment. Sarah Isgur Flores, the spokeswoman for the Justice Department, also declined to comment.

Mr. Comey’s request is a remarkable rebuke of a sitting president, putting the nation’s top law enforcement official in the position of questioning Mr. Trump’s truthfulness. The confrontation between the two is the most serious consequence of Mr. Trump’s weekend Twitter outburst, and it underscores the dangers of what the president and his aides have unleashed by accusing the former president of a conspiracy to undermine Mr. Trump’s young administration.
Yet in other columns at the NYT and WaPo we read of Mr. Obama setting up an operation to do just that, and that ValJar will be all but living there.
The White House showed no indication that it would back down from Mr. Trump’s claims. On Sunday, the president demanded a congressional inquiry into whether Mr. Obama had abused the power of federal law enforcement agencies before the 2016 presidential election. In a statement from his spokesman, Mr. Trump called “reports” about the wiretapping “very troubling” and said that Congress should examine them as part of its investigations into Russia’s meddling in the election.

Along with concerns about potential attacks on the bureau’s credibility, senior F.B.I. officials are said to be worried that the notion of a court-approved wiretap will raise the public’s expectations that the federal authorities have significant evidence implicating the Trump campaign in colluding with Russia’s efforts to disrupt the presidential election.
Or that there was no collusion, that it was all fake news and phony accusations by the butt-hurt Democrats. That likely would be a worse outcome for the FBI...
One problem Mr. Comey has faced is that there are few senior politically appointed officials at the Justice Department who can make the decision to release a statement, the officials said. Attorney General Jeff Sessions recused himself on Thursday from all matters related to the federal investigation into connections between Mr. Trump, his associates and Russia.

Mr. Comey’s behind-the-scenes maneuvering is certain to invite contrasts to his actions last year, when he spoke publicly about the Hillary Clinton email case and disregarded Justice Department entreaties not to.

It is not clear why Mr. Comey did not issue the statement himself.
He's tired of being a pinball in an arcade game?
He is the most senior law enforcement official who was kept on the job as the Obama administration gave way to the Trump administration. And while the Justice Department applies for intelligence-gathering warrants, the F.B.I. keeps its own set of records and is in position to know whether Mr. Trump’s claims are true. While intelligence officials do not normally discuss the existence or nonexistence of surveillance warrants, no law prevents Mr. Comey from issuing the statement.
It does make you wonder if what Mr. Comey is doing is trying to get off the hook here -- last thing he wants to do is disclose a FISA warrant.
In his demand for a congressional inquiry, the president, through his press secretary, Sean Spicer, issued a statement on Sunday that said, “President Donald J. Trump is requesting that as part of their investigation into Russian activity, the congressional intelligence committees exercise their oversight authority to determine whether executive branch investigative powers were abused in 2016.”

Mr. Spicer, who repeated the entire statement in a series of Twitter messages, added that “neither the White House nor the president will comment further until such oversight is conducted.”

A spokesman for Mr. Obama and his former aides have called the accusation by Mr. Trump completely false, saying that Mr. Obama never ordered any wiretapping of a United States citizen.
I doubt he ever had to order milk or butter for the White House kitchen either.
“A cardinal rule of the Obama administration was that no White House official ever interfered with any independent investigation led by the Department of Justice,” Kevin Lewis, Mr. Obama’s spokesman, said in a statement on Saturday.
And if you can't believe the spokes boy for a former president waist-deep in chicanery, just who can you believe?
Mr. Trump’s demand for a congressional investigation appears to be based, at least in part, on unproved claims by Breitbart News and conservative talk radio hosts that secret warrants were issued authorizing the tapping of the phones of Mr. Trump and his aides at Trump Tower in New York.
The claims are speculative unless Breitbart has evidence that they have yet to share. But the notion that this couldn't possibly have happened wears a little thin when we 1) know just how willing FISA was to grant warrants 2) just how politicized the Holder/Lynch DoJ was 3) just how the CIA/NSA deep intelligence state has been wanting to take Trump down and 4) just how politicized Mr. Comey himself is. He can't issue statements about investigations into the Clinton campaign -- not once but twice -- and then claim that he's a spring chicken when it comes to the Trump campaign.
In a series of Twitter messages on Saturday, the president seemed to be convinced that those claims were true. In one post, Mr. Trump said, “I’d bet a good lawyer could make a great case out of the fact that President Obama was tapping my phones in October, just prior to Election!”
That's some hyperbole right there: not Obama personally, but perhaps some folks in the White House. We first have to know that FISA did indeed authorize a warrant, and then who got the information, and then how it spread. Knowing that Obama, in his last days, allowed a "loosening of restrictions" on sharing information makes plausible -- not proved, plausible -- that people on the political side of the administration got to see things that they weren't supposed to see.

And it isn't about the Russians. If the wiretappers had access to Trump campaign communications they could have ferreted out a fair bit of what his fall campaign strategy was. If communicated to Hillary's people (and if they were smart enough to use it, which may have been Trump's saving grace), that would be quite the boon to the Democrats. There's your Watergate right there -- remember, Nixon was trying to get info on Democratic party donors.
On Sunday, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, the deputy White House press secretary, said the president was determined to find out what had really happened, calling it potentially the “greatest abuse of power” that the country has ever seen.
Yes, "greatest abuse' pretty well sums it up.
“Look, I think he’s going off of information that he’s seen that has led him to believe that this is a very real potential,” Ms. Sanders said on ABC’s “This Week” program. “And if it is, this is the greatest overreach and the greatest abuse of power that I think we have ever seen and a huge attack on democracy itself. And the American people have a right to know if this took place.”

The claims about wiretapping appear similar in some ways to the unfounded voter fraud charges that Mr. Trump made during his first days in the Oval Office.
Except that now we're discovering that they were, indeed, founded. Perhaps you don't want to go there, Mr. Journolist.
Just after Inauguration Day, he reiterated in a series of Twitter posts his belief that millions of voters had cast ballots illegally — claims that also appeared to be based on conspiracy theories from right-wing websites.

As with his demand for a wiretapping inquiry, Mr. Trump also called for a “major investigation” into voter fraud, saying on Twitter that “depending on results, we will strengthen up voting procedures!” No investigation has been started.

Senior law enforcement and intelligence officials who worked in the Obama administration have said there were no secret intelligence warrants regarding Mr. Trump. Asked whether such a warrant existed, James R. Clapper Jr., a former director of national intelligence, said on NBC’s “Meet the Press” program, “Not to my knowledge, no.”
That's not a resounding no. "Not to my knowledge" is one of the standard weasel phrases used in political circles.
“There was no such wiretap activity mounted against the president-elect at the time as a candidate or against his campaign,” Mr. Clapper added.
Clapper -- oh yeah, he's the guy who lied to Congress, right?
Mr. Trump’s demands for a congressional investigation were initially met with skepticism by lawmakers, including Republicans. Appearing on CNN’s “State of the Union” on Sunday, Senator Marco Rubio, Republican of Florida, said he was “not sure what it is that he is talking about.”

“I’m not sure what the genesis of that statement was,” Mr. Rubio said.

Pressed to elaborate on “Meet the Press,” Mr. Rubio said, “I’m not going to be a part of a witch hunt, but I’m also not going to be a part of a cover-up.”
Fair statement. It's too early yet to know.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Iran indicts ex-nuke negotiator likely on suspicion of espionage
[IsraelTimes] Suspect, unnamed by authorities, believed to be dual Iranian-Canadian national who worked on parallel talks team, previously detained for spying.
D'you think Pretty Boy Trudeau will cough up multiple pallets of various cash currencies to ransom his citizen, dear Reader?
Iran’s judiciary has indicted a member of the country’s team that negotiated the nuclear deal with world powers, a front man said Sunday, likely an Iranian-Canadian national previously detained by authorities on suspicion of espionage.

An Iranian-American also faces charges after allegedly taking $3.1 million from people after promising to help them emigrate to foreign countries, judiciary front man Gholamhosein Mohseni Ejehi said, according to reports by Iran’s official IRNA news agency.
Do you think President Trump will palletize cash for this one?
In the case involving the nuclear team member, Ejehi said it would be up to a court to decide whether to try the individual charged. Ejehi did not directly name the team member who had been indicted, nor did he explain what charges the indictment carried.

However,
alcohol has never solved anybody's problems. But then, neither has milk...
Ejehi did say the person involved was a dual national with the initials D.E. That suggests the person indicted likely is Abdolrasoul Dorri Esfahani, a dual Iranian-Canadian national.

In August, hard-line news outlets said authorities detained Esfahani, who reportedly worked as a member of a parallel team focusing on lifting economic sanctions as part of the deal. He later was granted bail, which is rare in Iran for those accused of having committed a serious crime.

After the 1979 Islamic Revolution, Esfahani reportedly served as a member of the Iranian team working at the Hague on disputes between Iran and the United States over pre-revolution purchases of military equipment from the US by Iran. He is a member of the Ontario Institute of Chartered Accountants in Canada. He also has served as an adviser to the head of Iran’s Central Bank.
It doesn't sound like he has much regard for his other citizenship...
The News Agency that Dare Not be Named could not reach Esfahani for comment. Canadian officials did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The nuclear deal remains a sore spot for Iranian hard-liners, but it was a foreign policy victory for moderate President Hassan Rouhani. Rouhani is widely expected to seek a second term in Iran’s May presidential election.

Meanwhile,
...back at the laboratory the smoke and fumes had dispersed, to reveal an ominous sight...
Ejehi announced the case against the unnamed Iranian-American, who presumably faces fraud charges.

"The person has been detained but they were not a government official," he said.

The US State Department did not respond to a request for comment.

There have been several Iranian-Americans detained in the wake of the nuclear deal, which saw Iran agree to limit its enrichment of uranium in exchange for the lifting of some economic sanctions.

Among them are Iranian-American businessman Siamak Namazi and his octogenarian father, Baquer Namazi , who are serving 10-year prison sentences for "cooperating with the hostile American government." Also detained is Robin Shahini , who is serving an 18-year prison sentence "collaboration with a hostile government."

Iran does not recognize dual nationalities, meaning that those it detains cannot receive consular assistance. In most of the recent cases, dual nationals have faced secret charges in closed-door hearings before Iran’s Revolutionary Court, which handles cases involving alleged attempts to overthrow the government.

#1  And then there is Robert Levinson, a Jewish American with no dual citizenship, whose return then-Secretary of State John Kerry said was a priority to the Obama administration when he was "negotiating" the Iran nuclear deal. The Times of Israel reminds us

Levinson disappeared during a trip to Iran’s Kish Island on March 9, 2007. A 2013 Associated Press investigation found he was working for the CIA on an unauthorized intelligence-gathering mission to find information about Iran’s nuclear program. US officials have said they are no longer certain he remains in the country.

The 2013 AP investigation showed that in a breach of the most basic CIA rules, a team of analysts — with no authority to run spy operations — paid Levinson to gather intelligence from hotspots around the world, including the Middle East and Latin America.

The official story when Levinson disappeared was that he was in Iran on private business, either to investigate cigarette smuggling or to work on a book about Russian organized crime. It has a presence on Kish, a tourist island.

His family is calling on President Trump to fulfill his campaign promise and bring the man home.

North Korea fires four ballistic missiles into Sea of Japan
[CNN] North Korea has fired four ballistic missiles, three of which landed within 200 nautical miles of Japan, the country's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said Monday.

Speaking to the Japanese parliament, Abe said the launch was a clear violation of UN Security Council resolutions. "It is an extremely dangerous action," he said.

A US official also confirmed that Pyongyang fired four projectiles, which appeared to be ballistic missiles.

Abe said three landed within Japan's Exclusive Economic Zone, which extends 200 nautical miles from its coastline according to international maritime law.

The move comes as South Korea and the United States hold joint military exercises, which Pyongyang views as preparations for an invasion.

A spokesman for the South Korea Defense Ministry, said "several projectiles" flew about 1,000 kilometers (620 miles).

The launch took place in Tongchang-ri, in the country's North Pyongan province, and the projectiles are believed to have landed in the Sea of Japan, which is also known as the East Sea, according to a South Korean Defense Ministry official.
The Japanese prime minister called the latest launches “utterly intolerable”. But he hasn't done anything about it, so he's tolerating it just fine...

China-Japan-Koreas
As North Korea Loses Its Use, China Loses Its Patience
[SCMP] China’s move to effectively cut off North Korea’s revenue lifeline by banning coal imports is the first significant signal that Beijing is willing to work with the United States to rein in its defiant neighbour after President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
’s repeated complaints.

This latest move might also indicate a willingness to break the deadlock between China and the US since Pyongyang quit the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons in 2003.

Trump has made repeated calls for China to get tough on North Korea, saying Beijing could end its neighbour’s nuclear programme "very quickly and easily".

China does provide most of North Korea’s food and fuel; it has long played a crucial role to effectively keep the regime afloat and avoid a repeat of the famines of the 1990s. But the solution China truly seeks is not what the US anticipates.

China’s strategists have long-feared any tough action against the reclusive state might lead to its collapse, triggering a refugee wave at China’s borders and leave Beijing without a geopolitical buffer to US forces under a unified Korea.

There also remains a significant ideological and historic bond between the two nations since fighting together during the Korean War.

However,
we can't all be heroes. Somebody has to sit on the curb and applaud when they go by...
China has failed to tame North Korean leader Kim Pudge Jong-un
...the overweight, pouty-looking hereditary potentate of North Korea. Pudge appears to believe in his own divinity, but has yet to produce any loaves and fishes, so his subjects remain malnourished...
since his ascension in 2011, a year before President Xi Jinping (習近平) took power in China. Xi has met his South Korean counterpart many times, but has never met Kim.

Since he came to power, Kim has purged bigwigs with close links to China in fear of a Beijing conspiracy to replace him, and accelerated Pyongyang’s nuclear and missile programmes despite China’s objections. During Kim’s five years in power, North Korea has implemented 36 ballistic-missile tests and three nuclear tests.

The recent killing of Kim Jong-nam, the leader’s estranged brother, might be the last straw. While Pyongyang denies any role, the use of the VX chemical agent ‐ a weapon of mass destruction according to the United Nations
...an organization originally established to war on dictatorships which was promptly infiltrated by dictatorships and is now held in thrall to dictatorships...
‐ might prompt Beijing to further distance itself from Kim’s dynasty.

China may now realise that continued inaction on North Korea conflicts with its rising international clout and contradicts its national interest. Kim’s weapons of mass destruction pose the same risk to China as they do to South Korea, Japan or the United States.

North Korea’s relentless weapons build-up has fuelled an arms race in the region. Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, India and Australia are scrambling to upgrade their defences. South Korea’s decision to deploy the Terminal High Altitude Area Defence system to contain the North’s nuclear capability is perhaps the highest-profile reaction, a move that Beijing is fiercely fighting against for fear it could also be used to curb China.

All this risks triggering a nuclear domino effect in Northeast Asia. Trump has even suggested that Japan and South Korea acquire nuclear weapons to counter any challenge from North Korea.

In this volatile environment, China’s continued support of a regime widely seen as a state sponsor of terrorism and a major threat to peace in the region will only damage Beijing’s international image and undermine relations with most of its important trade partners ‐ South Korea, Japan and the US, among others.

North Korea using Africa to bypass sanctions on arms trading, UN report shows
[SCMP] North Korean weapons barred by UN sanctions ended up in the hands of UN peacekeepers in Africa, a confidential report says. That incident and others in more than a half-dozen African nations show how North Korea, despite facing its toughest sanctions in decades, continues to avoid them on the world’s most impoverished continent with few repercussions.

The annual report by a UN panel of experts on North Korea illustrates how Pyongyang evades sanctions imposed for its nuclear and ballistic missile programmes to cooperate "on a large scale", including military training and construction, in countries from Angola to Uganda.
We don't have much swat with Angola, but Uganda? They contribute troops to ANISOM and are dependent on EU funds.
Among the findings was the "largest seizure of ammunition in the history of sanctions" against North Korea, with 30,000 rocket-propelled grenades found hidden under iron ore that was destined for Egypt in a cargo vessel heading toward the Suez Canal. The intended destination of the North Korean-made grenades, seized in August, was not clear.

A month before that, the report says, a UN member state seized an air shipment destined for a company in Eritrea
...is run by the People's Front for Democracy and Justice (PFDJ), with about the amounts of democracy and justice you'd expect from a party with that name. National elections have been periodically scheduled and cancelled; none have ever been held in the country. The president, Isaias Afewerki, has been in office since independence in 1993 and will probably die there of old age...
containing military radio communications items. It was the second time military-related items had been caught being exported from North Korea to Eritrea "and confirms ongoing arms-related cooperation between the two countries". Eritrea is also under UN sanctions for supporting gangs in the Horn of Africa.

Discovering such evasions is challenging because Africa has the world’s lowest rate of reporting on monitoring UN sanctions on North Korea. Just 11 of its 54 countries turned in reports to the panel of experts last year, the UN report says.

Iraq
Iraqi forces storm 4 districts in central Mosul, alleged Baghdadi’s cousin arrested
[Iraq News] Iraqi government forces pushed deeper Sunday into western djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
seeking to drive out Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
Death Eaters, storming four major districts, while a video claimed to show the arrest of the cousin of the group’s supreme leader.

Iraqi forces recaptured eastern Mosul in January, ending three months of fighting to retake the city which fell to Islamic State holy warriors in 2014.

On Sunday, social media outlets circulated a video showing police forces walking a handcuffed, bearded Death Eater whom they claimed to be the cousin of Islamic State’s supreme leader His Supreme Immensity, Caliph of the Faithful and Galactic Overlord, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi
...formerly merely the head of ISIL and a veteran of the Bagram jailhouse. Looks like a new messiah to bajillions of Moslems, like just another dead-eyed mass murder to the rest of us...
. The officers did not mention the holy warriors exact name. Baghdadi’s exact location and survival have been subject to clashing, unconfirmed reports since operations to free the city sat out.

Europe
Autopsy results: Anis Amri habitually took drugs before Berlin attack, say Italian prosecutors
[DeutscheWelle] The Tunisian had frequently consumed cocaine and cannabis before driving a truck into a Berlin Christmas market. Italian authorities said they could not exclude the possibility he consumed drugs the day of the attack.

An autopsy of Tunisian suspected terrorist Anis Amri's body found traces of habitual consumption of cocaine and cannabis, reported Italia's ANSA news agency on Friday.

Italian prosecutors said while he likely had not consumed narcotics the day he was killed, they could not exclude the possibility he had been under the influence of drugs the day of the attack.

Munich-based daily "Suddeutsche Zeitung" revealed Amri, a failed asylum seeker, unintentionally told a federal police informant that he wanted to "do something in Germany" and could acquire an AK-47 assault rifle in 2015.
Amri last year drove a stolen lorry into a Christmas market in Berlin, leaving 12 dead and dozens more injured. He expeditiously departed at a goodly pace and traveled across western Europe despite an international manhunt.

Four days after the attack, he was rubbed out by Italian police on the outskirts of Milan during a routine ID check. He drew a weapon from his backpack and shot one of the Italian officers before being killed.

The "Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
" grabbed credit for the Berlin attack, releasing a video in which Amri pledged allegiance to the bully boy group's leader His Supreme Immensity, Caliph of the Faithful and Galactic Overlord, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi
...formerly merely the head of ISIL and a veteran of the Bagram jailhouse. Looks like a new messiah to bajillions of Moslems, like just another dead-eyed mass murder to the rest of us...
The case drew widespread criticism when Munich-based daily "Suddeutsche Zeitung" revealed Amri, a failed asylum seeker, unintentionally told a federal police informant that he wanted to "do something in Germany" and could acquire an AK-47 assault rifle in 2015.

Crime-terror nexus
Despite the warning, German authorities in early 2016 concluded he did not pose a threat following a months-long surveillance program, deeming him a mere errand boy. Prior to the attack, Amri had a running history of drug dealing and petty crime. German authorities had detained Amri ahead of deportation for the maximum time allowed, but he was released after Tunisian officials failed to produce identity documents for him. Germany and Tunisia on Friday agreed to an immigration deal that will speed up deportations from Germany.

More than half of Europe's imported muscle had a criminal record, illustrating the relationship between crime and terror.
In October, researchers at the International Center for the Study of Radicalization and Political Violence (ICSR) revealed that more than half of Europe's imported muscle had a criminal record, illustrating the relationship between crime and terror.

"The presence of former criminals in terrorist groups is neither new nor unprecedented," the report said.

"But with the 'Islamic State' and the ongoing mobilization of European jihadists, the new phenomenon has become more pronounced, more visible and more relevant to the ways in which jihadists groups operate," it added.

Body found with ‘Daesh Al-Bakistan’ written on victim’s dress
[DAWN] MULTAN: The perforated carcass of a man who had been kidnapped over two years ago was found near the Cotton Research Centre on the Old Shujabad Road here on Saturday.

Umer Mubeen Jilani, 33, was kidnapped by seven gunnies on June 16, 2014, when he left his house in Garden Town for his office at around 8.30am.

Wrapped in a black plastic bag, the body was dressed in an orange uniform similar to the ones worn by prisoners at the US military’s Guantanamo Bay detention camp.

According to official sources, the following words were written with a black marker on the orange uniform: ’ISIS al-Bakistan’, ’Inspector Umer Mubeen Jilani’ and ’Tareekh Aghwa (June 16, 2014)’.

ISIS is the Arabic acronym for the Death Eater Islamic State

group.

Police shifted the body to the Nishtar Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

According to the initial report, the victim was hit by five bullets -- two in the back and one each in the head, right arm and left leg.

Umer Jilani was a son of Zahid Husain Jilani, a retired civil servant who had reportedly served as the director general of the Cholistan Development Authority.

His funeral was held in the Kotla Raham Ali Shah area of Jotai tehsil in Muzaffargarh district later in the day.

The victim was said to be a relative of former chief justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani whose family members attended the funeral.

2 militants, cop killed in Tral; Major among 5 injured
[Daily Excelsior] Two bully boyz and a police man were killed and five security personnel including an Army Major were maimed in a fierce overnight shootout in Tral area of Southern Kashmire’s Pulwama district.

The shootout that started last evening continued till morning in which two bully boyz Aqib Molvi of Tral and Umar of Pakistain were killed. A constable of Special Operations Group of Jammu and Kashmire Police, Manzoor Ahmad Naik of Uri was also killed. Three coppers including an Army Major was also injured in the shootout.

However,
there is a theory which states that if ever anybody discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened...
the security forces delayed the clearance of the debris due to stone pelting festivities that were going on in the area since last night. Dead body of Aqib Molvi and two AK-47 rifles were recovered while the body of Umar was under debris.

Director General of Police, S P Vaid told news hounds in Srinagar that two bully boyz have been killed. "The bully boyz have been identified as Aqib Molvi of Hayuna, Tral and Umar of Pakistain".

The encounter resumed today evening after one of the turban fired from the debris of the house. "We found two bodies in the rubble in the afternoon. When our men went to collect them, one of the turbans, who had pretended to be dead, fired from the rubble in which one of our constable was injured in his leg due to a bullet fired from the turban," he said.

"The turban was killed in the retaliatory fire from security forces," the DGP said, adding, that the operation is "almost over" as security forces are clearing the debris from any ammunition.

The shootout began last evening when security forces cordoned off Hafoo village in Nazneepora area in Tral. "We had specific inputs about presence of bully boyz in the village," Vaid said.

The shootout lasted for more than 20 hours, with exchange of heavy gunfire between bully boyz and security forces. Security forces used IED blasts to raze the house to the ground.

An SOG man, Manzoor Ahmad Naik of Uri, of police was also killed while five security forces personnel, including an army major, one policeman, two soldiers and a CRPF man, were maimed in the encounter.

Clashes erupted near the encounter site as protesters pelted stones on the security forces. Several protesters were maimed in the festivities as security forces fired teargas canisters and pellets to disperse them.

In the meantime, to pay homage to constable Manzoor Ahmad Naik, a wreath laying ceremony was held in DPL Srinagar. Minister for Education Altaf Bukhari led civil, police and security force officers and jawans in laying floral wreaths.

Among others who presented wreaths and flowers included DGP S.P Vaid, IG (Ops) CRPF Zulfikar Hassan, IGP Kashmire S.J.M Gillani, IG (Adm) CRPF Ravideep Sahi, DIG CKR Ghulam Hassan Bhat, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Farooq Ahmad Lone, DIG CRPF P.S. Rajora, DIG CRPF Narender Paul, DIG Armed Kashmire Rafiq-ul-Hassan and a number of SsP and other senior coppers.

A Police front man said: "As has been reported constable Manzoor Ahmad Naik son of Faqeer Mohammad Naik resident of Salamabad, Uri gave supreme sacrifice of his life while fighting the bully boyz in an encounter in Haffoo area of Tral. The martyr is survived by an aged father, sister, brother, wife and a 4 years old son."

"The martyr was laid to rest in his native place at Salamabad where SSP Baramulla Imtiyaz Hussain attended the last rites of the martyr", he added.

Europe
France's Fillon apologises to supporters, says is innocent
[GEO.TV] Under-pressure French conservative Francois Fillon apologised to his supporters Sunday for the fake jobs scandal that threatens to sink his presidential bid but said he was sure he would be proved innocent.

In a speech closely watched for signs he could abandon his campaign, Fillon told a crowd of tens of thousands near the Eiffel Tower that he had made a "mistake" by employing his wife Penelope as his parliamentary assistant.

Fillon, who is to be charged this month over claims he paid British-born Penelope and their children nearly 900,000 euros ($950,000) of public funds for doing little work, said he was convinced he would eventually be found not guilty.

"The problem is that by then it will be too late, the election will have been skewed," 63-year-old Fillon said, as British-born Penelope watched him from the stage.

Some senior politicians in his Republicans party have called for Fillon to be replaced immediately, with polls currently suggesting he would be eliminated in the first round of the election on April 23.

Examine your conscience

Polls show far-right leader Marine Le Pen and 39-year-old centrist Emmanuel Macron would progress to the runoff on May 7.

Former prime minister Alain Juppe, 71, has indicated to AFP through his entourage that he could be ready to replace Fillon as the rightwing candidate.

The Republicans party leadership is to meet on Monday evening.

Addressing his words to them at the rally, he said: "I have examined my conscience, now it is time for you to examine yours."
Update from An Nahar at 3:55 p.m. ET:
"I confirm for a final time that I will not be a candidate to be president of the republic," Juppe said in a downbeat statement that criticized Fillon and said France was "sick" and suffering from a "profound crisis of confidence."
So that's that.

France's Death Spiral
[GatestoneInstitute] In 1990, the "Gayssot law" was passed, stipulating that "any discrimination based on ethnicity, nation, race or religion is prohibited". Since then, it has been used to criminalize any criticism of Arab and African delinquency, any question on immigration from the Muslim world, any negative analysis of Islam. Many writers have been fined and most "politically incorrect" books on those topics have disappeared from bookshops.

The French government asked the media to obey the "Gayssot law." It also asked that history textbooks be rewritten to include chapters on the crimes committed by the West against Muslims, and on the "essential contribution" of Islam to humanity. All history textbooks are "Islamically correct."

In hospitals, Muslims are increasingly asking to be treated only by Muslim doctors, and refusing to let their wives be treated by male doctors.

Sorry Monsieur, no Muslim doctor available right now but the guy in the cafeteria is Muslim and ready to do that heart transplant. Inshallah!
