Jihadi car and knife attack: Parliament in lockdown
  • [Daily Mail, Where America Gets Its News] Four-wheel drive car said to have driven over Westminster Bridge knocking down pedestrians this afternoon

  • Knifeman then got into the grounds of Parliament where he reportedly stabbed a police officer

  • The 'middle-aged' attacker was then shot by armed officers as the area was cleared by emergency services

  • Parliament was suspended and the Prime Minister was rushed from the scene in an unmarked police car

#8  Both the Daily Mail and lord garth's Telegraph article are being updated as information comes in. According to the police this is being treated as a terrorist incident. A dozen pedestrians were injured, some seriously, when the "Asian" drove onto the sidewalk on the bridge before crashing into the fence around the Parliament building, one women was killed and another person fell into the river. The Daily Mail has a photo of the man they describe as the jihadi: decidedly tan, neatly bearded, with a neat bandage on the left side of his abdoman, on a stretcher about to be put into an ambulance. Prime Minister Theresa May was immediately evacuated to Downing Street while the rest of the MPs were locked down until they could be safely escorted out of the building by gun toting guards.

The Telegraph is updating faster at the moment: two now dead, "up to three" (an odd formulation) of the wounded are police officers, the jihadi had two knives, not just one. SOCOM searches for 7.62mm conversion kit
A US Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) solicitation calling for the design of a Personal Defense Weapon (PDW) could have serious implications for the future of the standard NATO 5.56mm x 45mm calibre assault rifle across the special operations community, defence sources have explained to Shephard.

According to the 9 March request for information (RFI), the Tampa-based command is seeking a conversion kit for the 5.56mm x 45mm Colt Defense M4A1 carbine in order to upgrade it to a .300 BLK cailbre (7.62mm x 35mm) weapon system.

The news follows years of ongoing debate in which special operations forces (SOF) have considered the evolution from 5.56mm to alternative calibres including 6.5mm, 6.8mm and .300 BLK ammunition.

Despite retaining the option to alternate between such weapon systems for specialist tasks and roles, sources explained how such a wholesale change in calibre across entire assault rifle inventories had been avoided due to the vast costs associated with such a change.

The USSOCOM requirement features an upper receiver and buttstock conversion kit, which would allow an operator to switch between 5.56mm and .300 BLK calibres within a few minutes with the additional benefit of the added integration of a suppressor, the solicitation reads.
Posted by: Skidmark || 03/22/2017 11:23 || Comments || Link || E-Mail|| [0 views] Top|| File under:

#1  Most of the requirements would be fairly easy to meet. Length and folding butstock with an upper receiver that can be swapped out for different calibers... no problem.

The kicker is the weight requirement. They want the rifle to come in at 5.5lbs. The current M1A4 is 6.35lbs (empty). A 9" barrel for .300 comes in at 1.09lbs, a full 1/5th of the desired weight.

Most likely the weapon will be skeletonized to reduce weight:

It is a close quarters "buttstock". Designed to move in and out of vehicles quickly and move through building but give something for the operator to rest his shoulder against for stability.

UPDATE: ‘Stolen' Secret Service Laptop Was Left On A Motorcycle Outside Agent's Home
Moved To Lurid Crime Tales, Page 6: Seedy Politics. This is not a War on Terror story.

-- trailing wife at 1:10 p.m. EDT
[GatewayPundit] It was reported earlier this week that a Secret Service Agent’s laptop was reported stolen from a vehicle.

The laptop contained floor plans to Trump Tower, evacuation protocols and information regarding the investigation of Hillary Clinton’s private email server.

Via Daily News:

Authorities have been frantically searching for the laptop since it was stolen Thursday morning.

Some items stolen along with the laptop -- including coins and a black bag with the Secret Service insignia on it -- were later recovered.

But the laptop, along with other documents described as "sensitive," were still being sought.

The thief stepped out of a car, possibly an Uber, on a street in Bath Beach and stole the laptop from the agent’s vehicle, which was parked in the driveway of her home.

He was then seen on video walking away from the scene with a backpack.

The agent reported the laptop contained floor plans for Trump Tower, evacuation protocols and information regarding the investigation of Hillary Clinton’s private email server.

Now the New York Post reported that the stolen laptop was on a Bajaj motorcycle:

A Secret Service laptop containing sensitive information about Trump Tower, details about the Hillary Clinton e-mail probe and other national security secrets was swiped from an agent’s motorcycle in Brooklyn, police sources said Friday.

The computer was taken Thursday morning from the driveway of agent Marie Argentieri’s Bath Beach home, the sources said.

The thief drove up to Argentieri’s home around 8:40 a.m., walked right up to her Bajaj motorcycle and took the items. He was then caught on video fleeing the scene on foot, sources said.

The fact that the laptop was stored on a motorcycle is disturbing.

Was it stolen or left for someone to pick up?

#7  I searched the agent's name, and came up with this blogpost from Uncle Sam's Misguided Children. I have no idea how trustworthy it is.

Although the Secret Service does not allow agents to carry classified documents on their computers, the computer can be used to access that server. IF someone can get inside.

The Secret Service stated that the information cannot be “remotely erased.” Yet another report in Fox News stated that once the laptop was connected to the internet, it could be erased.

Fortunately, reports say that the laptop is encrypted
Posted by: trailing wife || 03/22/2017 13:21 Comments || Top||

#8  Encryption is interesting, but would not the circumstances surrounding the purloinment suggest a password could have been provided? If so, encryption is meaningless, no?

Posted by: Vast Right Wing Conspiracy || 03/22/2017 13:36 Comments || Top||

#9  Might have been, Vast Right Wing Conspiracy. Either Ms Argentieri is entirely too careless to be employed by the Secret Service or she needs to spend a long stretch in prison for betraying her sworn duty. At any rate, the Service as a whole has clearly lost its way on the security side over the past eight years. Hopefully they are still competently executing their other responsibilities.

Gowdy Troubled by Comey Not Confirming Leaks Investigation
[Breitbart] Tuesday on Fox News Channel’s "Fox & Friends," while commenting on Monday’s House Intelligence Committee hearing on Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election, Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC) said he was troubled that FBI Director James Comey would not confirm there is an investigation into leaks of classified information.

Gowdy said, "I think the most troubling part for me was when Director Comey would not assure us that there’s a leak investigation. He was more than happy to assure us that there’s an investigation into the potential ties between the Trump campaign and Russia, which may or may not be a crime. Leaking classified information is a crime, but he would not confirm that investigation."

#1  Disinformation and so-called 'Fake News' through 'leaks' are tools of the Left and the Deep State. Disinformation was much easier however, when news media outlets were limited to only CBS, NBC, and ABC.

Comey and McCabe faithfully serve their masters and continue to carry out the night soil of the left. After the Clinton debacle, I can't believe Gowdy is much surprised, but he should be cautious.
Posted by: Besoeker || 03/22/2017 9:31 Comments || Top||

#2  Comey carefully leans across the line of credibility but will not cross it. His wording appears as if he wants to be direct but he simply cannot bring himself to transgress some unknown boundary.
Posted by: Skidmark || 03/22/2017 10:32 Comments || Top||

#3  Comey is playing both sides against the middle. I'd peg him as playing mostly according to the Donk playbook. He comes across as a very duplicitous guy who has protected HRC, Obama, and the Washington establishment. He weasel words everything. The deep state is committed to taking down Trump. They don't want their comfy arrangement messed with by an outsider. Trump might consider someone for the job who is straight-up with less BS although it would be a fight to replace him.

Navy Builds Ramjet Missile with Model Rocket Engines and a Credit Card
U.S. Navy engineers at the Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division recently designed and flew a prototype ramjet missile in just six months. The engineers not only met their deadline, they flew the missile using off-the-shelf equipment, items so inexpensive they were paid for with a credit card. The result is a missile that could join the fleet in 3-4 years.

The United States military is currently in the midst of a major strategic shift. The post 9/11 era has seen the armed services concentrate on fighting insurgencies and anti-terrorism operations. While American involvement in such conflicts will persist for the foreseeable future like it or not, the U.S. must also contend with an increasingly aggressive Russia and China. Deterring conflict with such "near peer" competitors will require smart, fast, highly responsive weapons capable of striking targets at great distances.

One important technology for this goal is ramjet propulsion. First conceived 90 years ago, ramjet propulsion involves using a missile's forward motion to push air into its engine. This pushes oxygen into the combustion chamber where, mixed with fuel, it provides thrust. In theory, this is a simpler technology than the traditional use of a compressor to shovel air into the engine, and can propel objects at speeds of up to Mach 6. In addition to being faster, ramjets can travel three times as far on the same amount of fuel as a standard rocket motor. The result is a missile that gives enemy air defenses less time to react and flies farther than conventional missiles.

The downside to ramjet propulsion is that needs to be fed air in order to work so aircraft or missiles can't use it to take off from a complete stop. Instead, the object being propelled needs a booster, like a rocket motor, to quickly accelerate it to speeds where the ramjet is receiving enough air to take over.

Engineers at the Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division in China Lake, California were recently challenged to design and fly a ramjet missile engine in six months. This is a lightning-fast timetable in a world where it takes 20 years to develop a fighter plane. Still, the team was able to get the job done by staying small, buying cheap, and testing often.

Matt Walker, head of the Airbreathing Propulsion Section at NAWCWD, told Naval Aviation News, "If you have a small team, you can just get together and draw on a whiteboard on the fly and not have to worry about getting the large team involved and buy-in from everyone." This also meant keeping defense contractors, which tend to move slowly and conservatively and with an eye for profit, out of the design process.

The team needed to find a rocket capable of boosting the ramjet. Instead of developing one on their own, they used a model rocket engine that cost $900. They were even able to buy the parts with a credit card, avoiding the time-consuming defense acquisition process. The ability to simply order an and have it delivered instead of starting up a rocket motor factory made the process even faster, and the low, low cost meant they could afford to test often.

The team also assumed from the outset that their designs would fail, a lot. But it also knew it would learn from each failure and could quickly incorporate lessons learned. By the third launch, they had a working scramjet missile propulsion unit.

The team is continuing to work on their missile project, refining the design to make it more practical. Instead of having the rocket as a booster stage that falls off after acceleration is complete, the team is making the rocket and ramjet share a single body that shares the combustion chamber. The team also believes they could have a working missile for the fleet in 3-4 years.

Senator McConnell criticizes Trump's proposed State Dept cuts
[The Hill] Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) on Tuesday criticized President Trump's proposed cuts to the State Department budget, calling them inappropriate.
Think of it as addition by subtraction...
"America being a force is a lot more than building up the Defense Department. Diplomacy is important, extremely important, and I don't think these reductions at the State Department are appropriate," McConnell told The Associated Press.

"There are things on the domestic side that are extremely important," he added.
Yes, and one of them is putting KY coal miners back to work. Perhaps the Senator has forgotten POTUS' efforts on behalf of KY voters.
McConnell maintained that he will fend off attempts to cut funding for the Appalachian Regional Commission, which sponsors economic development initiatives in Kentucky, and shield the National Institutes of Health, according to the AP.

The Kentucky lawmaker has previously said that he does not support the State Department cuts and predicted last month that they would "probably not" clear the Senate.
The fellow that previously ran EXXON should decide that.
"When we get to funding the government, obviously it will be done on a bipartisan basis," he said last month, adding that the "diplomatic portion of the federal budget is very important."

The White House released its budget blueprint last week proposing a 28 percent cut to the State Department budget, among other major agency cuts, while proposing a $54 billion boost to defense spending.

Members of both parties have criticized aspects of the budget and lawmakers typically pass their own budgets.

US charges Philadelphia's top prosecutor with corruption
US authorities on Tuesday charged Philadelphia's top prosecutor with accepting bribes, including a Caribbean vacation, furniture and cash, in exchange for favors such as reducing a defendant's sentence and seeking to limit the airport security screening of an associate.

In a 23-count indictment, a federal grand jury outlined a pattern of illegal behavior by District Attorney Seth Williams going back to 2010, shortly after he was elected to the first of his two four-year terms.

The federal indictment was unsealed as officials from the New Jersey US Attorney's office, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Internal Revenue Service and the Department of Homeland Security prepared to hold a press conference in Philadelphia.
He served as President of the Penn State Student Black Caucus, the Undergraduate Student Government, and was member of the Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity. As a student activist, he led a 102-mile march to the state capital at Harrisburg to get Penn State to divest from South Africa.

Gov. McAuliffe Vetoes Bill to Share Data About Voters Registered in Multiple States
[Free Beacon] Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe (D.) vetoed a bill that would require the state Department of Elections to turn over information to local registrars about individuals who are registered to vote in multiple states simultaneously.

McAuliffe has vetoed a handful of bills in recent weeks intended to prevent voter fraud.

The bill, HB 2343, was introduced by Republican delegate Robert B. Bell and would have required the Department of Elections "to provide to the general registrars a list of registered voters who have been found through list comparisons and data-matching exchanges with other states to be registered in another state."

The bill passed the Virginia House on a 68-30 vote and the Senate on a 23-15 vote. McAuliffe's veto statement called said the bill would make "unnecessary changes to the election system that could improperly disenfranchise qualified Virginians."

Jerusalem, Hanoi reach deal to boost military cooperation
President Reuven Rivlin and his hosts in Vietnam, where he is currently on a state visit, have reached an agreement to increase military and other forms of cooperation.

On Tuesday, Rivlin opened one of the largest bilateral economic conferences ever held in Vietnam, where Shrage Brosh, president of the Manufacturers Association of Israel and head of the business delegation on the visit, spoke of the rapid progress in multi-level relations between the two countries over the last five years.

Brosh and several of his colleagues first went to Vietnam with former president Shimon Peres in 2011 and made business contacts that have grown significantly since then, resulting in benefits to both countries.

Podesta Was Board Member Of Firm Linked To Russian ‘Investors'
[Daily Caller] Rep. Louie Gohmert, an outspoken House Republican from Texas, is calling for a congressional investigation of John Podesta’s role with Rusnano, a state-run company founded by Russian President Vladimir Putin, The Daily Caller News Foundation’s Investigative Group has learned.

Podesta -- best known as Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign chairman and former President Bill Clinton’s White House chief of staff -- first made contact with the Russian firm in 2011, when he joined the boards and executive committees of three related entities: Boston-based Joule Unlimited; Rotterdam-based Joule Global Holdings; Joule Global Stichting, the company’s controlling interest. All are high-tech renewable energy enterprises.

Three months after Podesta’s arrival, Joule Unlimited accepted a 1 billion ruble investment from Rusnano, amounting to $35 million in U.S. currency. The firm also awarded a Joule board seat in February 2012 to Anatoly Chubais, Rusnano’s CEO, who has been depicted as a corrupt figure.

Podesta has attempted to downplay his relationship with Joule and Rusnano, but it could come to haunt him.

The Pope Tells Young People to Resist Social Media's 'False Image of Reality'
[Time] Pope Francis has called on young people the world over to resist the "false image of reality" portrayed by social media and reality TV and take charge of their own destiny.

"Don't let yourselves be led astray by this false image of reality! Be the protagonists of your history; decide your own future," he said according to Agence France-Presse.

In a video message for World Youth Day, which falls on April 9, the head of the Catholic Church said that those who call today's youth "distracted and superficial" are wrong.

"To have a past is not the same as to have a history," Francis said, urging faithful youngsters to spend more time with their grandparents.

The pontiff also hit out at excessive smart phone use and cautioned that "the Church is not like a flash mob, where people agree to meet, do their thing and then go their separate ways," according to the Catholic Herald.

Turkish ministers eager to tap into the overseas vote have sought to make campaign appearances in Germany to whip up support for a "yes" vote, but several were recently rebuffed when local and state authorities blocked the rallies, citing logistical reasons.

Europe
German Teens Convicted for Jihadist Attack on Sikh Temple
[AnNahar] A German court Tuesday sentenced three teenage boys to up to seven years in juvenile detention over a jihadist attack on an Indian wedding that badly maimed a Sikh priest.

The three Lion of Islams, all 16 at the time, set off a home-made bomb in April last year outside a prayer hall where a Sikh community wedding was taking place, also leaving two others with lesser injuries.

The youths, who were born in Germany, had met on social media after being radicalized by ultra-fundamentalist Salafist Moslems, and got together to commit the attack in the western city of Essen.

Two of them, identified only as T. and B. because they are minors, were sentenced to seven years and six years and nine months respectively for attempted murder.

The third, identified only as I., was given six years for complicity.

Prosecutors charge they had sought to kill "non-believers" with a device they had built from a fire extinguisher shell and chemicals ordered from online shopping site Amazon.

The power of the blast destroyed the door of the temple and blew out window frames.

A priest was left with a fractured foot bone and has been unable to resume his ministry, said the court.

Two other people suffered superficial cuts.

"The motive of the attack was hatred against other religions. The accused were already radicalized before the act," said the court in a statement.

There were no indications that the attack was linked to the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group, it added.
Ynet adds location, a key piece of information An Nahar somehow missed:
The boys had been radicalized for some time before the April 16 attack in the western city of Essen and had been in contact with ultraconservative Moslems known as Salafists
...Salafists are ostentatiously devout Moslems who figure the ostentation of their piety gives them the right to tell others how to do it and to kill those who don't listen to them...
, the Essen state court said.

China-Japan-Koreas
North Korea can't get it up again... missile explodes on liftoff
The U.S. military detected a failed North Korean missile launch attempt, with a missile exploding within seconds of its launch, a U.S. military spokesman said.
Nothing worse than early launch explosion. Men have been left by their partners for that you know.
South Korea said the apparent North Korean test launch on Wednesday morning did not go off normally. But the U.S. military statement shed more light on the latest in a series of missile tests by the isolated, nuclear armed state that have raised alarm across the region.

"U.S. Pacific Command detected what we assess was a failed North Korean missile launch attempt ... in the vicinity of Kalma," Commander Dave Benham, a spokesman for U.S. Pacific Command, said in a statement, referring to an air field on North Korea's east coast.

"A missile appears to have exploded within seconds of launch," Benham said, adding that work was being carried out on a more detailed assessment.
You know it is bad when the target destroys itself before we get to shoot it down.
The South Korean defence ministry said it was also conducting analysis for further details.

South Korea's Yonhap news agency said the missile may have exploded as it was launched, before reaching an altitude at which it could be detected by South Korean radar.

The launch comes as the U.S. envoy for North Korea nuclear programme, Joseph Yun, met his South Korean counterpart in Seoul to discuss a response to the North's weapons programmes.

Earlier on Wednesday, Japan's Kyodo news agency reported North Korea may have launched several missiles from an area on its east coast, citing a Japanese government source. The launch may have failed, Kyodo said, adding that the type of missile involved was not known.
Died before we could ID it.
Last year, North Korea launched several intermediate-range missiles from the same area but only one of the tests was successful.

U.S. President Donald Trump on Sunday criticized North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, saying he was "acting very, very badly".
That's a paddlin'
North Korea launched four ballistic missiles from near its west coast on March 6 and this week conducted a rocket engine test that its leader, Kim Jong Un, said opened "a new birth" of its rocket industry.

A senior U.S. official in Washington told Reuters on Monday that the Trump administration was considering sweeping sanctions as part of a broad review of measures to counter North Korea's nuclear and missile threat.

Undaunted by the possibility of even tougher sanctions aimed at cutting North Korea off from the global financial system, a North Korean diplomat said his government would pursue an "acceleration" of its nuclear and missile programmes. This includes developing a "pre-emptive first strike capability" and an inter-continental ballistic missile, said Choe Myong Nam, deputy ambassador at the DPRK (North Korean) mission to the United Nations in Geneva.
Ya gotta get more than 1 in 20 farther than Hawaii to have a good first strike capability. So far your efforts are lacking... and we are losing patience.

Arabia
UN rejects coalition call to supervise Yemen port
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The United Nations
...a lucrative dumping ground for the relatives of dictators and party hacks...
on Monday rejected a call by the Arab coalition for the key port of Hudaydah to be placed under its supervision.

The coalition made the appeal following an attack on a boat carrying Somali refugees off the coast of Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of. Except for a tiny handfull of Jews everthing there is very Islamic...
that killed 42 people, and as the country faced famine.

UN front man Farhan Haq said the warring sides in Yemen have a responsibility to protect civilian infrastructure and civilians.
"These are not obligations they can shift to others," Haq said.

Houthi
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The Yemeni government has accused the Houthis of having ties to the Iranian government, which wouldn't suprise most of us. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews ...
militias fighting the Yemeni government control Hodeida, which is a key transit point for desperately needed imports.

The coalition said in a statement Sunday that it was not responsible for the attack on the refugee boat in the area of Hudaydah and called for the port to be "placed immediately under United Nations supervision."

Hudaydah serves 70 percent of the country’s population affected by a severe food crisis in Yemen, which is almost entirely dependent on imports of food and other commodities.

"The humanitarian community delivers assistance in Yemen solely based on needs and not on political considerations, and will continue to do so through all available means," added Haq.

About 7.3 million people in Yemen are in dire need of food aid in the largest food insecurity emergency in the world, according to the United Nations.

However,
Caliphornia hasn't yet slid into the ocean, no matter how hard it's tried...
Arab coalition spokesperson Ahmed Asiri said the UN must supervise the management of ports so they are not exploited to carry out attacks.

Placing Hudaydah under UN supervision would "facilitate the flow of humanitarian supplies to the Yemeni people, while at the same time ending the use of the port for weapons smuggling and people trafficking," said the coalition statement.

The Hudaydah port is one of the most important ports in Yemen and it is the second biggest port after the Aden port. It is distinguished for its strategic position as it is close to global navigational passages, in addition to being close to Bab al-Mandeb Strait.

Its area is 315,000 square meters and its maximum capacity is 9 million tons. It has ten berths to load and unload oil tankers and other petroleum derivatives. There are 12 warehouses in the port with a total area of 37,000 square meters.

LNA says it will prosecute soldiers who murder and abuse prisoners
[Libya Herald] The Libyan National Army has said it is moving against soldiers suspected of war crimes.

The action has been prompted by a widely-circulated clip of a senior LNA commander murdering three prisoners while they are bound and kneeling beside a wall. The military communiqué put out this evening by LNA front man Ahmed Mismari said that all captives should be treated in accordance with military and Islamic law and Arab morality.

He continued that cases of the abuse and murder of prisoners were being referred to the military police. He said that the LNA high command had set up an investigative committee to look into these serious allegations.

The trigger was the footage of a man allegedly identified as colonel Mahmoud Warfali executing three kneeling prisoners in cold blood. He is seen waiting for a black vehicle to move away from in front of the captives then walking up behind them casually and with his machine pistol shooting each one rapidly in the back of the head and then the body after they had collapsed. He fires seven shots in all and afterwards walks away.

Warfali, a Saiqa Special Forces
...Libya's elite army unit, insofar as they have one, formed from a mixture of paratroopers and commandos. The group emerged from a militia with the same name in 2010. It now numbers a few thousand and reports to the Ministry of Defence. It deployed in Benghazi in an attempt to control the carnage. As a result, it has been attacked and several of its officers murdered. The force is popular in Benghazi for its stance against Ansar al-Sharia group...
commander, was targeted by a boom-mobile this February as his convoy passed a petrol station in Benghazi’s Gwarsha district on the way to siege of the 12 Buildings complex in Ganfouda. He was injured along with seven others but two of the soldiers with him were killed. In the footage, the man’s right arm is bandaged and he uses his left hand to fire the weapon.

Some LNA commanders were already uneasy at the treatment and mutilation of bad boy corpses after the final end of the Ganfouda siege on Saturday. The body of bad boy leader Jamal Makhzoum was exhumed from a shallow grave in the complex and tied to the bonnet of a vehicle before being paraded around while onlookers spat at and struck it. Another bad boy corpse was strung up in a cruciform position such as that used on their victims by IS Death Eaters in Sirte.

It is unclear when the footage of the man said to be Warfali shooting the prisoners was taken. However,
the difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits...
the killings happened outside the Salmani house of three brothers who were members of his Saiqa Special Forces and were killed in action. In what would appear to be a staged act of Dire Revenge, the prisoners were shot in front of a wall painting commemorating the brothers.

Misrata council says it is still in charge as city survives militia attack
[Libya Herald] Misratan members of the House of Representatives and the State Council as well as the city’s mayor Mohammed Eshtewi and councillors have warned of growing divisions between moderates and hardliners in the city. However,
it's easy to be generous with someone else's money...
they have also reassured residents that the council remains fully in control, telling them to ignore the hardliners.

The statement comes as Misrata TV confirmed that it was attacked last night by bandidos murderous Moslems who, it said, had threatened staff. The local radio station was also targeted.

Both are now operating normally.

On Friday evening, Misrata municipal council officers were briefly attacked by gunnies, believed to be from the same group as those responsible for last night’s incidents. The hardliners are from a number of smaller militias from the city, all of which oppose both the Presidency Council, which the council and politicians support, and Khalifa Hafter. These militias, which support fellow Misratan Khalifa Ghwell as prime minister, include Salah Badi
...a Misrata militia commander, self-appointed colonel and a member of the Wafa Islamist bloc. He was cashiered from the Libyan army in 1992 because he was nuts...
’s brigade and the so-called "Presidential Guard" which was formerly protecting the Rixos complex in Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
Expressing their concern at the attacks, the council and the politicians said they wanted legal action taken against those who had launched them. They insisted they were sticking strongly to democratic principles. In a broadcast statement they rejected the use of force to impose views as well as stressing the importance of preserving Misrata’ social fabric and maintaining good relations with other towns and cities in the country.

The group warned that staying silent in the face of such aggression might lead to civil war throughout the country.

Gazan teen said killed by IDF while attempting to cross border
[IsraelTimes] Another two Paleostinians reportedly hurt by tank fire; no immediate comment from army.

Paleostinian was reportedly killed and two others were said to be injured by Israeli tank fire while attempting to cross the Gazoo border overnight Tuesday-Wednesday into Israel.

The three Paleostinians had tried to breach the border fence near Rafah in the southern Gazoo Strip when they came under fire by Israeli troops, according to the Haaretz daily.

"Youssef Abou Azra, 18, was killed and two other Paleostinians injured by artillery fire by the occupier (Israel) to the east of Rafah," the large city to the south of the Gazoo Strip, said Achraf al-Qodra, front man for the Ministry of Health in Gazoo.

The injured Paleostinians -- one seriously hurt, the other moderately injured -- were taken to a hospital in Rafah, the Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood,-run health ministry said.

There was no immediate comment from the army.

Tensions between Israel and terrorist groups in Gazoo have been running high recently, following a number of shooting and rocket attacks from the Strip against Israelis, and retaliatory Arclight airstrikes and shellings by the IDF.

Earlier this month, Israeli soldiers located and disarmed two improvised bombs near the security fence surrounding the northern Gazoo Strip. The Paleostinian Islamic Jihad
...created after many members of the Egyptian Moslem Brotherhood decided the organization was becoming too moderate. Operations were conducted out of Egypt until 1981 when the group was exiled after the assassination of President Anwar Sadat. They worked out of Gaza until they were exiled to Lebanon in 1987, where they clove tightly to Hezbollah. In 1989 they moved to Damascus, where they remain a subsidiary of Hezbollah...
group said that one of its fighters was lightly injured in by an Israeli tank attack at an "observation post" near where the IEDs were found.

The incident early Wednesday came as some 2,000 reserve soldiers were called up this week to simulate war in the Gazoo Strip, as part of the military’s largest planned exercise of 2017, the army said. The surprise drill began on Sunday. It was conducted by the Sinai Division, the Southern Command’s reserve division. The exercise included four reserve brigades -- two infantry and two armored brigades.

The soldiers simulated war in Gazoo, including a ground invasion into the Hamas-run coastal enclave.

The surprise drill was in addition to a smaller exercise conducted by the IDF’s Home Front Command in southern Israel this week.

The IDF spokesperson said the exercises were planned in advance and not tied to recent tensions with Gazoo and jihadists in Sinai.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Syrian rebels launch second Damascus attack in three days
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Syrian rebels stormed a government-held area in northeastern Damascus on Tuesday for the second time in three days, sources on both sides said, pressing the boldest assault on the capital by opposition fighters in several years.

The front man for one of the main Lion of Islam groups involved in the attack told Rooters the new offensive began at 5.00 a.m., targeting an area rebel fighters had seized from government control on Sunday before being forced to retreat.

A Syrian military source told Rooters rebel fighters had entered the area, setting off a boom-mobile at the start of the attack. The source said a group of rebels that had entered the area had been encircled and were "being dealt with."

The rebel groups have launched the assault from their Eastern Ghouta stronghold to the east of the capital. Government forces have escalated military operations against Eastern Ghouta in recent weeks, seeking to tighten a siege on the area. The rebel assault aims partly to relieve that pressure.

The fighting has focused around the Abassiyin area of the northeastern Jobar district, some 2 km east of the Old City walls, at a major road junction leading into the capital.

A witness near the area heard kabooms from around 5.00 a.m., followed by festivities and the sound of warplanes overhead.

Wael Alwan, the front man of rebel group Failaq al Rahman, told Rooters: "We launched the new offensive and we restored all the points we withdrew from on Monday. We have fire control over the Abassiyin garages and began storming it."

The Syrian military source said: "They entered a narrow pocket - the same area of the (previous) breach - and now this group is being dealt with."

Bombardment

The government says the attack is being carried out by fighters of the Nusra Front, a jihadist group that was al Qaeda’s official affiliate in the Syrian war until it declared they had broken off ties last year. The Nusra Front is now part of an Death Eater alliance called Tahrir al-Sham.

The intensity of the Syrian army’s counterattack had forced the rebels to retreat from most of the areas they captured in the first attack.

The rebels have lost ground in the nearby areas of Qaboun and Barza.

A rebel commander said the Syrian army was intensifying its shelling on areas they had advanced in Jobar and towns across Eastern Ghouta.

"The bombardment is on all fronts ... there is no place that has not been hit ... the regime has burnt the area by planes and missiles," said Abu Abdo a field commander from Failaq al Rahman brigade.

The Syrian government appears to be employing the same strategy it has used to force effective surrender deals on rebels elsewhere around the capital through escalated bombardment and siege tactics.

Rebel fighters have been granted safe passage to Lion of Islam-held areas of northern Syria under such agreements.

The British-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, which monitors the conflict, said at least 143 air raids were conducted by the Syrian army on rebel held eastern parts of Damascus, mostly targeting Jobar, since the rebels launched their offensive.

Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Leveler of Latakia...
and the Syrian army, along with allied Russian, Iranian and Shi’ite militia forces, have the upper hand in the war for western Syria, with a steady succession of military victories over the past 18 months.

For rebels, however, their first such large scale foray in over four years inside the capital has shown they are still able to wage offensive actions despite their string of defeats.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Hamas aims to improve international image with new program
[WASHINGTONPOST] The Islamic holy warrior group Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth", has drafted a new political program it hopes will improve ties with neighboring Egypt and the West, and present a more moderate image that will help it get off Western terrorism lists.

The internationally isolated group, which has ruled the Gazoo Strip for the past decade, characterizes itself in the manifesto as a Paleostinian resistance movement against Israeli occupation, dropping references to holy war against Jews. It also raises the possibility of a Paleostinian state in the West Bank, Gazoo Strip and east Jerusalem, lands Israel captured in the 1967 Middle East war.

The document plays down ties to Hamas’ parent movement, the regional Moslem Brüderbund, which is being targeted by Egypt’s government as a terror organization.

However,
some people are alive only because it's illegal to kill them...
Hamas appears to have stopped short of a significant ideological shift amid concerns about alienating its hard-line base at a time when ultra-fundamentalist Islamist groups, such as the Salafists
...Salafists are ostentatiously devout Moslems who figure the ostentation of their piety gives them the right to tell others how to do it and to kill those who don't listen to them...
, are making inroads, particularly in Gazoo.

The new program, to be made public at the end of the month, will not formally replace Hamas’ 1988 founding covenant, which called for the destruction of Israel and for "confronting the usurpation of Paleostine by the Jews through jihad."

Such language has drawn accusations of anti-Semitism.

In referring to a Paleostinian state, Hamas does not spell out whether it considers this an acceptable solution to the conflict with Israel or a stepping stone to its longstanding goal of an Islamic state in all of historic Paleostine, including what is now Israel.

Al Qaeda Urges Muslims to 'Kill Americans'
Of course they do.
[WWW1.CBN] Al Qaeda is urging Moslems to kill Americans in retaliation for an air strike last week that allegedly destroyed a mosque.

The terror group released an official statement in English on the messaging app Telegram, titled "Kill the Americans without consulting anyone."

It instructed 'Moslems in general and the youth of Islam in particular" to "kill Americans" on their own, without asking anyone.

Al Qaeda blames "America and its damned president Trump" for the killing and wounding of "more than 300 worshipers" in a mosque in al-Jinah, Syria.

The British-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said that 49 Syrians were killed in the Thursday night bombing.

The Pentagon confirms it carried out the strike, but released an aerial photograph which shows the mosque still standing across the street from a building destroyed in the strike. A front man said it "struck a meeting of senior al Qaeda terrorists, some of these were likely high-value individuals."

Census team attacked in Charsadda, policeman injured
One policeman was injured when a census team came under attack in Mandni area of Charsadda. The security personnel retaliated and shot injured the attacker who was later arrested.

This incident occurred when a security team accompanying census officials in Charsadda was attacked, DawnNews reported.

The attacker was taken into custody in injured condition and moved to an undisclosed location.

Earlier this month, one Frontier Constabulary (FC) soldier laid his life while another was injured in a suicide attack on an FC training centre in Charsadda's Shabqadar area.

The attackers tried to sneak into the training facility in the wee hours to “cause maximum casualties,” FC Commandant Liaqat Ali Khan had said, “but the guards quickly responded and neutralised the attackers”.

In February, security forces had killed three suicide attackers who attempted to wreak havoc at a local court in Charsadda district.

DSP Charsadda Fayaz Khan said five civilians have been killed in the attack, which the proscribed Jamaat-ul-Ahraar (JuA) claimed.

Pakistan’s largest-ever population census started on March 15 in 63 districts of the country amid tight security after a delay of 19 years.

The Pakistan Army, Frontier Constabulary, police, Frontier Corps and levies force personnel had been deployed in KP and Fata to provide security to the census staff members.

Cattle Relief Efforts
When Evan Marr saw recent reports of massive livestock deaths due to raging Kansas wildfires, he had one thought - load a truck with hay and help those in need.

Then the New Berlin young farmer had a second thought - rally the troops. So, the Cass-Morgan Farm Bureau Young Leader (YL) vice president texted Jenny Jackson, District 10 Illinois Farm Bureau YL State Committee director and fellow Cass-Morgan Farm Bureau leadership.

An effort initially involving a single load of hay rapidly turned into donations to fill six more semi-trucks. And Cass-Morgan YLs will continue taking donations until Friday.

Donations can include hay (round or square bales), fencing material, mineral tubs, milk bottles and milk replacer. Donors can call Marr at 217-473-9897 or Jackson at 217-370-5851 to arrange for items to be picked up. Or visit their Facebook page by clicking here.
So March 6 we had a little fire. I wanted to give a heads-up to everyone that there is a massive relief effort going on. If you have seen convoys of hay, they are a big part of it. If you facebook, this link gives a good roundup on just how widespread this effort is.

These guys and gals are on trips which make Smokey and the Bandit look like a walk across the street. They are loaded, they are tired, and at this point working on their second trip.

And if you could do us a favor, give these drivers a high five. They are saving lives, and in the effort risking their own.

The reason why the hay is so important is some ranchers lost all there grass, and stored hay. Thousands of cattle lost, miles and miles of fencing destroyed. Many outbuildings and homes burned to the ground. this was an incredible catastrophe and may end up destroying our economic foundation: farming and ranching.

Baghdad Bomb and Bullet Bulletin

1 dead in bombing in Saba al-Bour district

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) A bomb blast in northern Baghdad killed one civilian and wounded two others on Tuesday, according to security sources.

Sources were quoted saying that the explosive device, placed near a blacksmith workshop in Saba al-Bour district, exploded and killed one civilian, wounding two others.

Nobody has claimed responsibility for the bombings, but Islamic State militants have said
they had been responsible for several bloody explosions and attacks that hit the capital in the past months, leaving casualties among civilians and security troops.

The United Nations Assistance Mission in Iraq (UNAMI) says violence in the country left nearly 392 dead and 613 injured, excluding security members, during February. Baghdad was the second most affected province with 120 deaths and 300 injuries, according to the organization’s monthly casualty count. It excludes death toll among security members after Iraqi authorities had asked to get such information exclusively from security commands.

Some observers believe Islamic State have begun to escalate attacks outside the city of Mosul, where the group has been losing ground and personnel since October, so as to relieve pressure by government forces on that front and to divert attention from group losses. They are concerned that the group could, however, shift to a guerilla-style war and lone wolf attacks after the recapture of Mosul.

2 bomb squad members die in bomb detonation

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Two bomb squad members died Tuesday while defusing a bomb in northern Baghdad, security sources were quoted saying.

The two security members were deactivating the IED placed at al-Naimiya district, north of the capital, the source said.
Nobody has claimed responsibility for planting the bomb, but Islamic State militants have said they had been responsible for several bloody explosions and attacks that hit the capital in the past months, leaving casualties among civilians and security troops.

of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) terrorist group were eliminated along with a weapons depot of the group in East of Afghanistan.

The 201st Silab Corps of the Afghan National Army (ANA) forces said the faceless myrmidons were killed in the past 24 hours in the vicinity of Kot district.

The source further added that the operations were conducted by the Afghan Commandos and with the support of the air force.

The Afghan cops and the local residents did not suffer any casualties during the operations.

This comes as the Afghan forces are busy conducting clearance operations under the name of Shaheen-25 operations which were launched more than one ago to suppress the growing insurgency of ISIS terrorist group in Nangarhar

province.

The operations led by 201st Silab Corps of the Afghan National Army (ANA) forces were launched after receiving approval from the national security council of the country.

This comes as the officials were concerned that the loyalists of the terror group are attempting to expand their foothold in Nangarhar and turn the province into their regional operational base, forcing the Afghan officials as well as the US administration to resume Arclight airstrikes against the group.

Iraqi forces try to bring civilians out of west Mosul
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Iraqi government forces attempted to evacuate civilians from djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
’s ISIS-held Old City on Tuesday so that troops could clear the area, but holy warrior snipers hampered the effort, Iraqi officers said.

They said the snuffies were also using civilians as human shields as government units edged towards the al-Nuri Mosque, the focus of recent fighting in the five-month-long campaign to crush ISIS in the city that was once the de facto capital of their self-proclaimed caliphate.

As many as 600,000 civilians remain in the western sector of Mosul, complicating a battle being fought with artillery and air strikes as well as ground combat. Thousands have escaped in recent days.

"Our forces control around 60 percent of the west now," Defense Ministry front man Brigadier General Yahya Rasool told a news conference in eastern Mosul. "It’s the Old City now with small streets and it’s a hard fight with civilians inside. We are trying to evacuate them.

"We are a few hundred meters from the mosque now, we are advancing on al-Nuri. We know it means a lot to ISIS," he said, using an Arab acronym for ISIS.

Envoys condemn Ganfouda mutilation of corpses
[Libya Herald] The international community has today begun to condemn Saturday’s abuse of the corpses of Death Eaters in Benghazi’s Ganfouda with protests by UN envoy Martin Kobler and UK ambassador Peter Millett.

"The mutilation of corpses in Libya is completely unacceptable," said Kobler while Millett tweeted he was "concerned by violations during the combat operations in Benghazi. I urge all parties to respect international law," he added.

Widely shared images on social media show the exhumation and mutilation of myrmidons’ corpses by Libyan National Army soldiers.

Both envoys also warned of the dangerous escalation of festivities in Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
, with Kobler calling for all parties to put Libya and the unity of Libya ahead of their own narrow interests.

He insisted that "calm must be restored immediately, democratic bodies and ideals must be respected and freedom of speech must be protected".

Millett said he understood the "frustration of Tripoli residents at the insecurity and challenges they face."

Whilst Kobler said the activities of militias were a serious risk to stability, ultimately, "the responsibility, however, lies first and foremost with the Libyans themselves to end this escalating violence".

He called on Libyan institutions to commit to advancing the Libyan Political Agreement and swiftly implement the security arrangements in Tripoli that provide for the withdrawal of gangs from the capital and the deployment of army and police.

Abu Sayyaf member arrested, another surrenders
[SUNSTAR.PH] AN ABU Sayyaf member was apprehended while another voluntarily surrendered during the continuous military operation in the provinces of Basilan and Sulu.

Western Mindanao Command (Wesmincom) information officer Jo-ann Petinglay identified the arrested Abu Sayyaf bandit as Abdul Mushin Nur and the one who surrendered as Absara Mursalin Akbara alias Talin Amsang, 41. Petinglay said Nur, who belongs to the group of Abu Sayyaf sub-leader Furuji Indama, was arrested around 11:30 a. m.

Monday, March 20, at Sitio Block 4 in the village of Bohe Pahuh, Ungkaya Pukan, Basilan. She said Nur’s arrest came after a concerned citizen reported to the troops his whereabouts. The Wesmincom information officer said Akbara surrendered to the troops of the Army’s 41st Infantry Battalion around 10 a. m. Sunday at Sitio Palan in the village of Mampallam, Talipao, Sulu.

Petinglay said Akbara yielded an M-16 Armalite rifle. He was turned over to the police for the filling of appropriate charges against him. She said Akbara revealed he opted to surrender due to fear that he will be the next target of the military offensives. Akbara said he no longer feels safe as communities have been tipping-off the sanctuaries and homes of Abu Sayyaf members, according to Petinglay.

“This is an offshoot of the command's relentless focused military operations against the ASG (Abu Sayyaf Group) inside their strongholds and comfort zones,” Wesmincom Chief Carlito Galvez, Jr. said.

Kagan, Breyer Join GOP Justices to Strike Down Unconstitutional Obama Appointment
[FreeBeacon] The Supreme Court ruled that President Obama violated the Constitution when he maintained an acting agency appointment after the Senate refused to confirm him.

The court ruled Tuesday that Obama appointee Lafe Solomon illegally served as acting general counsel to the National Labor Relations Board from 2010 to 2013. Solomon, who once violated the agency's ethics rules, should have vacated the position in accordance with the Federal Vacancies Reform Act of 1998 (FVRA) after the Senate refused to take up his nomination to serve as permanent general counsel in 2011, the court found in a 6-2 opinion authored by Chief Justice John Roberts. The appointment was an "end-run around" the Constitution.

"We cannot cast aside the separation of powers and the Appointments Clause's important check on executive power for the sake of administrative convenience or efficiency," the majority ruled.

13 Large Retailers Besides J.C. Penney Are Closing Waves of Stores (Video)
[The Street] The Great Restructuring in retail continues.

In the wake of a disappointing holiday season, J.C. Penney (JCP) said recently that it will close 138 stores stores by the second quarter. The store closures represent 13% to 14% of the company's current store base and less than 5% of annual sales. They have a negligible impact on net income. J.C. Penney said same-store sales at the locations were "significantly below" the remaining store base and operate at a much higher expense rate due to poor productivity.

The company expects $200 million in annual costs savings from the efforts.

"We believe closing stores will also allow us to adjust our business to effectively compete against the growing threat of online retailers," J.C Penney Chairman and CEO Marvin Ellison conceded.

The news shouldn't come as a shock.

As TheStreet reported in January, Ellison said at a real estate conference the company would move to close more stores -- after shuttering seven last year -- following a lackluster holiday season. "We have certain locations that we readily admit we have to downsize," Ellison said, adding, "There are some smaller market locations where we have to decide, does the mall or our store meet our brand standards?"

Here are several other retailers continuing to rightsize their store fleet amid the shift to digital shopping or other external pressures.

"Other external pressures"... unreported urban shrinkage accepted as a cost of doing business and factored into pricing certainly gives on-line shopping a distinct pricing advantage. Not to mention patron store and parking assault and robbery.

There WAS wiretapping at Trump Tower: FBI eavesdropped on Russian money-laundering ring that operated out of iconic skyscraper for two years
[DailyMail] - FBI had a court-approved warrant to monitor a Russian money-laundering ring operating out of unit 63A in Trump Tower between 2011-2013

- Suspected mastermind of the $50million crime syndicate was notorious Russian mob boss Alimzhan Tokhtakhunov

- Tokhtakhunov, 68, is best known for allegedly trying to fix 2002 Winter Olympics in favor of Russian figure skating teams
FBI's operation resulted in multiple arrests and convictions, but Tokhtakhunov managed to slip away

- He resurfaced months later in VIP section at Miss Universe in Moscow, not far from Donald Trump

When President Donald Trump angrily tweeted earlier this month that there was wiretapping going on in Trump Tower, he was not mistaken, as it turns out.

Between 2011 and 2013, the FBI had a court-approved warrant to monitor a Russian money-laundering ring that was operating out of unit 63A in Trump Tower, just three floors below the real estate mogul's gilded penthouse, reported ABC News.

The federal investigation led to an indictment of 30 suspects, many who whom were captured during a raid on their swanky Manhattan hideout, but the alleged mastermind of the criminal organization, notorious Russian mafia boss Alimzhan Tokhtakhunov, was able to slip away.

#1  Comey did confirm in the course of the bruising hearing, however, that the FBI has been investigating since the summer whether Trump's associates coordinated with Russian officials in an effort to sway the 2016 presidential election.

Investigation? Does that involve wiretapping or electronic surveillance?

Comey also said in the hearing that a POTUS cannot unilaterally order a wiretap. However, in looking at another story posted at the Burg today re denaturalization of citizenship for Iyman Faris, I came across a wiki entry that contradicted Comey's assertion. It stated: Faris' new lawyer David B. Smith announced that he was looking into a lawsuit against George W. Bush, who personally authorized the wiretaps. So, WTF?

Swedish Police In Trollhattan Attacked by ‘Youths’
[BREITBART] Several Swedish police were attacked by a large gang of "youths" who went on a rampage armed with rocks and fireworks in the city of Trollhattan over the weekend.

On Sunday evening a group of around 20 to 30 young men rioted and caused havoc in the Kronogården district of Trollhattan. Police say the youths were armed with rocks and fireworks, which they used to smash up a bus shelter. When police arrived on the scene, the gang attacked them with rocks that were so large they disabled their police car, Nyheter Idag reports.

An eyewitness told the paper: "They attacked police and the guards inside the area, in Kronogården. It was preceded by two powerful kabooms. I thought ’this is no firecracker, these are some bombs that have gone off’. Those were real f***ing bangs, two around twenty minutes apart."

Police officer Goran Carlbom said the incident began shortly after 7 pm. Police received a call that a gang of youths were causing trouble in the area. "There was a call regarding young people who fired rockets. Then it escalated to the shooting at a bus shelter," Carlbom said.

Police struggled to get the situation under control, with the riot continuing for three hours until after 10 pm. So far, none of the youths involved in the incident has been caught or placed in durance vile
Drop the rosco, Muggsy, or you're one with the ages!
, and no one has been reported as being injured.

This riot is reminiscent of the much larger riot that took place in the often-cited "No-Go Zone" of Rinkeby in February. The Rinkeby riots saw multiple vehicles burned by residents of the heavily migrant-populated Stockholm suburb. While the Rinkeby riots were sparked by the arrest of a local youth, the cause of the Trollhatten riot remains unknown.

Shin Bet says it thwarted 16 suicide bombings, 16 kidnappings, last year
[IsraelTimes] Agency chief Nadav Argaman says Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth", biding its time in Gazoo and trying to stir up trouble in the West Bank.

For the first time in 30 years, not a single Israeli was killed by terror attacks emanating from the Gazoo Strip in 2016, the head of the Shin Bet security service said Monday, noting that this was due largely to Israeli vigilance and not to a lack of desire by Paleostinian terror groups.

But even as Hamas and other groups were kept relatively quiet in Gazoo, they were transferring much of their efforts to the West Bank, the Shin Bet chief Nadav Argaman told the Knesset’s Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, as part of a yearly review.

Gharyan tribesmen release Qaddafi commander after five years
[Libya Herald] A former Qadaffy colonel from Tarhuna, captured five years ago in Gharyan, has been released, following negotiations between tribal elders from the two towns.

Ghariani, resolutely anti-Hafter and anti-Serraj, has backed the Benghazi Defence Brigades (BDB) currently fighting Hafter’s Libyan National Army. He also been frequently accused of inciting violence by backing IS and Ansar al-Sharia

Rebels, Ukrainians suffer heavy casualties in southern Donetsk

The killed in action and wounded toll counts between Russian backed rebels and Ukrainian soldiers reached the double digits in southern Donetsk in a midday ground assault Monday afternoon, according to Russian and Ukrainian language news accounts.

Rebel media claimed the encounter took place in Kominernovo, which is 12 kilometers due east of Mariupol, on the northern coast of the Sea of Azov.

According to the website novorosinform.org, two Ukrainian rifle platoons (about 60 effectives) attacked rebel fixed positions supported by artillery fire, tanks and BMP-1 infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs). A total of 10 Ukrainian soldiers were killed and another five were wounded. Various rebel media reports say the Ukrainians lost one BMP-1, and one tank was damaged.

Rebel media showed a reporter's video which showed some of the Ukrainian dead. Rebel media characterized the attack as an attempt to break through the lines. Rebel media also said that the Ukrainians were forced back to their start lines as a result of the attack.

The Donetsk ministry of defense said that the total casualties for the Ukrainians at Kominternovo amounted to 12 dead and 16 wounded. Two IFVs and two tanks were damaged.

Starting on the northern coast of the Sea of Azov, the line of Bezimennie-Sakhanka-Kominternovo has been the target of many weeks of artillery fire and small unit probes by the Ukrainians, including a small arms attack by sea.

According to korrespondent.net, the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense said that eight rebel soldiers were killed and 16 wounded. A lb.ua report said that rebel artillery launched against Ukrainian positions included 152mm and 122mm artilery, 122mm rocket artillery, and 82mm and 120mm mortar fire into the area of Vodyanoye, which is only a few hundred meters south of Kominternovo. Rebel media reported that Ukrainian artillery fire in southern Donetsk continued overnight at Kominternovo between March 20th and March 21st.

A subsequent report by the Donetsk ministry of defense said that Ukrainian artillery struck rebel positions in and around Yasinovataya for 90 minutes on Tuesday. The Ukrainian ministry of defense, quoted by lb.ua, said that rebel artillery hit Ukrainian positions at Avdievka, Opytnoye, the Butovka mine and at Peski.

The reported losses at Kominternovo are some of the heaviest combat losses by both sides since last year, when Ukrainian forces attacked rebel positions along the Svetlodarsk arc, which is north of Debaltsevo. In that battle, the Ukrainian attempted to break a large section of the rebel line using the same formula, light infantry supported by artillery, IFVs and tanks. A subsequent attack near Yasinovataya attempted to break the rebel line between Gorlovka and Donetsk, but that attack was stopped as well.

According to rebel bloggers, the decision to make the attack on Kominternovo was made by a rifle company commander who had been drinking.

Despite nearly constant fighting and increasing combat experience since the fall of 2014, neither side is capable of forcing a decision anywhere along the line of contact. The Russian backed rebels hold an extensive defensive system that Ukrainian forces have yet to break even after months of shelling. The Ukrainians hold the same defensive system on their side of the line.

Iranian militias continue advance in western Mosul

Nineveh (IraqiNews.com) Pro-Iraqi government paramilitary forces advanced Tuesday towards central Mosul from the western gate, further tightening the noose around Islamic State extremists already fighting government troops there.

Al-Hashd al-Shaabi (Popular Mobilization Units)said through its media its forces passed through the “Syria Gate” and reached to the outskirts of Mosul from the western side.

“The forces are now 15 kilometers away from Mosul,” said al-Hashd media service.

Iraqi government forces recaptured eastern Mosul in January and launched an offensive in February to recapture the western region. Al-Hashd al-Shaabi, an alliance of Shia militias fighting IS on the government’s side, have mostly been active around IS strongholds towns near the borders with Syria, especially the town of Tal Afar, west of Mosul. They claimed weeks earlier to have severed the road between Tal Afar and Mosul, as well between Tal Afar and Syria.

Iraqi troops are currently working to retake central Mosul districts from IS militants, specifically eyeing the city’s grand mosque where the group’s self-styled “Caliphate” was declared in 2014. Police forces said they were approaching the mosque over the past few days.

On Tuesday, the Defense Ministry’s War Media Cell said airstrikes by Iraqi fighter jets destroyed an Islamic State booby-trapped vehicle in al-Seha neighborhood which was meant for detonation targeting security troops.

Iraqi forces capture more facilities in central Mosul

Nineveh (IraqiNews.com) Iraqi security forces controlled more government and commercial facilities in central Mosul on Tuesday, while three suicide bombers were killed by the troops, according to police sources.

Cap. Amir Watheq, from the Nineveh police force, told BasNews that security forces took over some citizens’ services, commercial and telecommunication facilities in central Mosul after recapturing the Nineveh, Bata and al-Kotob streets.

Meanwhile, col. Khodeir Saleh told the website that three suicide bombers belonging to the Islamic State were killed before they targeted civilians in Mosul a-Jadida district.

Iraqi government troops launched a major offensive in February to retake western Mosul from Islamic State militants. The troops recaptured the eastern side of IS’s largest stronghold in Iraq in January.

Since launching the offensive on western Mosul, Iraqi forces recaptured the city’s government complex, airport and biggest military base from militants, claiming control recently over at least 60 percent of territory.

Troops’ commanders said one day ago they became much closer to the city’s grand mosque where IS supreme leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi announced the establishment of the group’s rule in Iraq in 2014.

Iraqi commanders had admitted that battles in western Mosul were tougher compared to the east as IS fighters positioned in the middle of densely-populated and narrowly-structured residential areas, relying on snipers and booby-traps to hold off the advancing security forces. Bad weather has also slowed down operations over the past few days and forced troops to change tactics.

Iraqi forces capture more areas in western Mosul

Nineveh (IraqiNews.com) Forces from al-Hashd al-Shaabi, backed by the 9th armored brigade and Army Aviation, resumed military operations to reinforce the western side of Badush vicinity and its surrounding areas.

According to a statement released by the media office of al-Hashd al-Shaabi, the operations resulted in the liberation of the residential complex, the villages of al-Jadida and al-Damerji al-Saghira and Arheiya area, as well as recapturing a communication system belonging to the Islamic State terrorist group.

Furthermore, the operations also destroyed four booby-trapped vehicles, before reaching their targets, in addition to killing and wounding a number of militants by a rocket attack launched by al-Hashd al-Shaabi.

Iraqi forces advance towards Iron Bridge

[ARA News] Iraqi forces are advancing into the old city of Mosul as they move closer to the Iron Bridge, Pentagon press operations director Navy Capt. Jeff Davis confirmed.

“Their line of advance is a little like a triangle,” the spokesman said. “They’re pointed right at the bridge.”

Taking the Iron Bridge will mean Iraqi forces control three of the five bridges that span the Tigris River and connect the old city with Mosul’s modern city center.

Davis said the location of the Iraqis as they approach the old city is symbolically important, because they are closing in on the al Nuri Mosque, where in 2014 the Islamic State (ISIS) leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi proclaimed himself the head of the so-called caliphate stretching from Syria to Iraq.

The Iraqi forward line of troops is in extremely dense urban terrain, which is not easy to get through, Davis pointed out on the 30th day of operations to liberate western Mosul.

“Clearly ISIS has had a lot of time to dig in and place house-borne [homemade bombs], sniper positions, tunnels and other things they can do to make this [advance] very challenging,” he said. “Enemy resistance remains very fierce in the narrow streets of the old part of this city.”

Davis said the counterterrorism service, federal police and emergency response division continue to make small advances to back clear their sections and defend in place in the western half of the city.

As the Iraqi forces close in on the Nuri Mosque, about 900 meters of fighting remain, Davis said: “Its capture will be a blow for the Islamic State.”

Experts expect that the Mosul operation could be finished within a few months.

The Beatings Will Continue: Iraqi Edition
ISIS kidnaps 6 kops in Mosul

Nineveh (IraqiNews.com) Islamic State militants kidnapped six Iraqi police officers early Monday during encounters with security forces in central Mosul, news reports quoted security sources saying.

Saad al-Leithi, an officer at the Iraqi Federal Police service, was quoted by Anadolu Agency saying the six officers, including a brigadier general, were kidnapped from Bab al-Jadid district, an area which police said they recaptured a week earlier.

He said the officers were ambushed by IS militants during an incursion in the district. They ran out of ammunition and made futile calls for help, he added.

The development came as security troops continue to sweep through districts near the Old City, a strategic district which Iraqi commanders say is necessary to recapture to ensure victory against Islamic State in western Mosul.

The police command said over the past few days troops were approaching the Grand Nuri al-Kabir Mosque, an old mosque where Islamic State supreme leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi made a speech in 2014 to declare the establishment of the “Islamic Caliphate” rule in Iraq. Retaking of the mosque would be a remarkable, symbolic development in Iraqi troops’ operations against IS.

On Tuesday, Federal Police chief Shaker Jawdat said he had deployed tens of snipers above buildings near the mosque.

“Our forces have evacuated hundreds of civilians in order to isolate terrorist elements and deprive them of their human shields before invading the area and retaking control over the mosque,” Jawdat stated.

Iraqi forces recaptured eastern Mosul in January after three months of fighting, and launched another offensive in February to retake the west.

Man who helped IISc attacker cross border key to probe

...the Army of the Pure, an Ahl-e-Hadith terror organization founded by Hafiz Saeed. LeT masquerades behind the Jamaat-ud-Dawa facade within Pakistain and periodically blows things up and kills people in India. Despite the fact that it is banned, always an interesting concept in Pakistain, the organization remains an blatant tool and perhaps an arm of the ISI...
operative managed to flee the city and later the country, leaving no trail behind.

Over 12 years later, with the man who is said to have helped the gunman cross the Indo-Nepal border in their custody, Bengaluru police are hoping for more information on the escape to emerge in the coming days.

The Central Crime Branch (CCB) of city police on Sunday night got custody of Habib Miyan, Accused No 9 in the IISc attack case. He will remain in police custody till March 27.

While the attack was suspected to have been carried out by Lashkar-e-Taiba operative Abu Hamza, a Pak, the attack was coordinated by local handler Sabahuddin from Bihar, according to K N Jithendranath, then assistant commissioner of police, who is in charge of investigation.

Jithendranath, who interrogated Sabahuddin when he was jugged
Yez got nuttin' on me, coppers! Nuttin'!
following an attack on a CRPF camp years later, said Habib's name came into the picture during investigations on how the gunman could have entered and left India. "Initially, Sabahuddin came to Bengaluru and identified IISc as the target after recceing four locations. He was looking at places where major science conferences were happening," he said.

After the target was identified, Sabahuddin went back to Kashmire and brought the AK-56 used for the attack. Then it was time to bring the shooter and that was when Habib came into the picture. "During interrogation, we learnt that Habib, based in Tripura, didn't come to Bengaluru but helped Hamza cross the border," he said.

After throwing a few grenades and opening fire with his AK-56, Hamza scaled the IISc compound, and took a bus to Tamil Nadu en route to Kolkata. Once he reached there, Habib took him to the Indo-Nepal border. "Although he was not in Bengaluru, Habib was certainly part of the conspiracy and he will have information on the absconding accused, such as handlers in Kashmire, among others," he added.

The whereabouts and fate of one of the prime accused in the case, Abu Hamza, remains unclear.

Colin Kaepernick donates to Meals-on-Wheels, Love Army for Somalia in latest $100,000 round
[NINERSNATION] Former the Socialist paradise of San Francisco
...where God struck dead Anton LaVey, home of the Sydney Ducks, ruled by Vigilance Committee from 1859 through 1867, reliably and volubly Democrat since 1964...
49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick is back with his latest round of donations. Kaepernick has been donating $100,000 per month since last October, on his way to donating $1 million in total over the course of a year. According to Ian Rapoport, the next round of $100,000 will be split evenly between Meals on Wheels and Love Army for Somalia.

Kaepernick has been focusing primarily on community charities around the country, but the last couple months we have seen him hit up some more high profile situations. For example, in December, he donated to a UCSF group helping out at Standing Rock.

His $50,000 donation to Meals on Wheels comes amidst reports that Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
’s first budget as president will include cuts to grant programs that help fund Meals on Wheels.
Already demonstrated to be a lie, but do go on...
The program does not receive direct government funding, but some of their funding comes from community development block grants. The initial budget proposal is looking to eliminate that. Additionally, the Department of Health and Human Services is looking at a 16 percent cut across the board, which could impact Meals on Wheels.
    But won't...
The $50,000 donation to Love Army for Somalia follows on a project with which he has become involved in recent weeks. There is a developing famine in Somalia, and recently Kaepernick posted video about needing to get access to a Turkish Airlines plane that could fly into Somalia. A group called Love Army for Somalia has been pushing on this, with help from Ben Stiller’s charitable foundation. Kaepernick is just one of many people promoting it, but they were successful in getting access to a 60-ton plane. They have subsequently been raising money for food, water, and other supplies. They have raised nearly $2 million on a GoFundMe page, and Kaepernick’s donation is going to that.

    Arabia
What next after acts of violence in Qatif?
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The bullets which aimed at the former member of the municipal council in Qatif, Engineer Nabih al-Barahim, were not stray bullets. They were intended to terrorize and were aimed at a specific victim who was targeted because of his social and political views. The person holding the weapon sees the "other" as an aggressor against his lifestyle and belief system and hence tries to assert his views through violence and coercion.

Acts of violence by outlawed groups in Qatif, and its suburbs, were not aimed only at physically eliminating their nemesis but also to prevent those from criticizing the reign of terror that they seek to impose on society. In a way, it is aimed "to rape the other of his personality, and identity," as asserted by John Miller.

The armed assault on engineer al-Barahim was followed by threat against an active religious figure, Sheikh Jaafar al-Rebh. He is known for his public views in support of civil peace and prohibiting the use of arms. Yet, this is not the first time such an incident has happened and it won’t be the last.

I discussed with friends the seriousness of the security situation and the critical stage we find ourselves in. I also expressed fear for the fate of al-Barahim especially considering the fact that he and his relatives have been subjected to physical assaults in the past.

    State of chaos

Weapons pointed at citizens and security personnel in Qatif will not lead to any political change, social development or human rights
...which are often intentionally defined so widely as to be meaningless...
accomplishments. It will rather threaten civil peace, and create a state of chaos. This will, in turn, be exploited by "terrorist" cells to undermine any reforms or modernization efforts.

To borrow the words of the Lebanese politician Walid Wally Jumblat
... Druze politician, head of the Progressive Socialist Party, who's been on every side in Leb at least four times. He'll sell you his friends for a dollar, but family comes higher because of shipping and handling...
, we ask violent groups: armed assaults, where to? I do not think these outlaws have a clear or appropriate answer. They have become a burden on the community in Qatif. They are indulging in acts of terrorism, just like ISIS and al-Qaeda.

Violence is not a menace facing Qatif alone. This is a challenge in some Saudi cities in which Lions of Islam of different persuasions and backgrounds, share one goal, to undermine the authority of the state and threaten its existence. The problem of violence in the province of Qatif, specifically in the village of al-Awamiyah, is not impossible to resolve.

    However,
there's more than one way to stuff a chicken...
it needs serious persuasion and cooperation between the people and civil society organizations and official bodies to develop an action plan to address the problem in all its dimensions.

    Home Front: Politix
    The Legacy Of Bork
[FOXNEWS] The "Borking" of Judge Robert Bork may have forever altered the way nominees approach their confirmation hearings. Faced with uncomfortable questions about their views on abortion, religious liberties, gay rights, gun rights, free speech, federalism and the separation of powers, most nominees now strain to yield as little information as possible. Sincerity gives way to prevarication. Probity takes a back seat to guile. They bob and weave.

It’s like watching a legal version of boxing's famous "rope-a-dope" in the 1974 Rumble in the Jungle. Senators on the Judiciary Committee resemble George Foreman swinging away endlessly, hoping to land a knockout blow. Nominees play the role of Muhammad Ali, leaning against the ropes with gloves raised to deflect the many punches until the opponent drops, inexorably, from fatigue.

An expected contest of judicial philosophies, like the fight, becomes a farce. Any hope of honesty and transparency in the confirmation hearing is lost to the trick of an evasive technique. Blows (competing ideas) are absorbed and soon dissipate. And everyone departs the arena none the wiser. Least of all, the American public.

And so it is that nearly all Supreme Court nominees since Bork have volunteered precious little about what they may believe or how they might decide cases that affect, sometimes dramatically, the lives of citizens everywhere. It is the unfortunate legacy of Robert Bork.

To his credit, Gorsuch faced many of the hard questions with a forthright mien and manner uncommon among recent confirmation hearings. He sought not to deflect or demur whenever an response might pose a risk. Perhaps it is because his rectitude is beyond reproach. Maybe it is because the vast majority of his rulings are justified under the law and, therefore, correct.

Inevitably, some in the Senate chamber will vote against Gorsuch. They will do so not because he is unqualified, because surely he is. They will do it because it is politically prudent or electorally expedient. And in Washington, after all, partisan politics is king these days.

But when Neil Gorsuch is confirmed to the Supreme Court, he will bring with him the potential to become one of its giants. He appears beholden to no one and cares only about following the law, wherever it may take him, as he made plain in response to one Senator’s question:

"A good judge doesn’t give a wit about politics or the political implication of his decision," he said. "My job is not to write the laws, but to apply and interpret those laws. Whether mighty or meek, rich or poor...everyone is protected by our laws equally."

    -Land of the Free
It’s Time For Liberals To Start Buying Guns
Guns have been a problem for the left for many years. Our country has a long history with firearms, and much of it has been troubling. We have had many mass shootings, and the NRA has pushed guns down our throats for years. They wanted you to believe that President Clinton and President Obama were going to take your weapons away as part of some vast conspiracy to round people up and put them in communist Muslim reeducation camps.
None of the presidents listed above have done anything to stop confiscations that are taking place in California and New York. Yes, there are confiscations taking place.
Things have changed. We now have a president who is friendly with the authoritarian regime in Russia, and who winks at white nationalists. Attacks and threats against Muslims and Jews have exploded in the last year. Indian workers have been shot at bars, a Sikh man was shot in his driveway, and Nazis feel safe to walk the streets again.
Threats against Jews have been pressed by liberals in just the last few months, before Trump's election victory and since. Many other threats made against ethnic and sexual minorities have been done by the putative victims as a political statement against putative perpetrators. That I know of, no one on the right has made any of the threats claimed.
I know how some liberals feel about guns. This is a subject that has been dominated by the far-right for years, but it is time that we start taking it back for ourselves, because there are people out there who have gone beyond fantasizing about killing folks, and actually doing it.
    Name one.
I own a number of weapons. I grew up using guns and I can empty a full magazine of .40 caliber hollow point rounds from my concealed carry pistol into a target with pretty decent accuracy. At the same time, I have been a supporter of gun control laws – but we’re not going to see any progress made as long as Republicans control our government.
Reduced government in size and scope and lower taxes will always be better than "progress." And as far as the personal defense weapon claim, hollow points affect bullet velocity not enough to mention.
The far-right believes that liberals don’t carry guns, that we’re afraid of guns, and we want to ban them all. There are certainly some people on the left who do feel that way, but that’s a stereotype the conservative media loves to perpetuate to rile up their followers.

The difference between right-wing nut jobs with guns and liberals with guns, is that we liberals who pack heat don’t fantasize about overthrowing the government or holding off a SWAT team with an AR-15. We own weapons for self-defense and sport, not because we’re paranoid fanatics with penis compensation issues.
    Nice.
If you do decide to purchase a weapon and you haven’t used one before, take some training classes first. Be sure to know the laws in your local area, and understand the legal ramifications of using deadly force if you’re ever put into that situation.
    Good advice.
Next, it’s time to decide what kind of firearm you need. For home defense, the best option is probably a pump shotgun loaded with buckshot. Unlike a high-velocity round from an assault rifle, buckshot isn’t likely to punch through multiple walls. If you plan on going the concealed carry route, the handgun you choose should be based on the size of your frame. The point of carrying concealed is that nobody should know that you have a gun, until you have to use it. Open carry is a very bad idea, even though it is legal in many states.
Shotgun slugs have been known to penetrate drywall as much as a 5.56mm. Ammunition is an important choice. Try frangible rounds and a subsonic round instead.
The far-right has been emboldened by a Trump presidency, and liberals buying guns will make them think twice. If you’re concerned about putting money in the gun industry’s pockets, there is always the option of buying a used weapon, just make sure you purchase it from a legitimate dealer.
Better to purchase it from a private owner without the government overseeing the exchange.

militias in Saada. Houthi posts in the Nahm front, east of Sanaa, were also targeted and the Houthis were thus defeated in that rugged directorate as the national army seized control.

According to statements recently issued by the army, the latter’s forces aided by the coalition air force moved on to Arhab, which is close to the capital Sanaa. Naval cooperation also thwarted three Houthi naval attacks in front of the Midi port. The next attack will be decisive in this war as there are reports that this attack will target the strategic Hodeida port, which Iranian ships use to smuggle arms to rebels.

New gains, following Saudi Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s visit to Washington, have enhanced the position of the coalition. Following agreements with the US, supplies of ammunition and exchange of military intelligence information on enemy’s posts and activities on the ground has resumed.

    The political message
This has yielded military results and sends an equally important political message which stipulates that when it comes to Yemen ‐ unlike Syria ‐ there is an international agreement to eliminate rebels and isolate their Iranian ally which is present in Yemen through its militias fighting alongside the Houthis.

Following these new military shifts, the international envoy is back in the picture in an attempt to market the peace initiative, which is still valid as he’s recently amended it in hopes of narrowing the distance between the different parties. He amended the initiative based on three references: UN Security Council Resolution 2216, the Gulf initiative and the national dialogue decisions.

Successful military operations, which have pressured the Houthi militias affiliated with Iran and the national army’s march against the forces loyal to ousted president President-for-Life Ali Abdullah Saleh
... Saleh initially took power as a strongman of North Yemen in 1977, when disco was in flower, but he didn't invite Donna Summer to the inauguration and Blondie couldn't make it...
by moving into Arhab on the way to Sanaa, will help the international envoy execute his plan.

This does not undermine the conflict in Yemen where legitimate President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi is being accused of obstructing efforts toward a political solution and of preferring for the conflict to continue, since he is an interim leader, and will lose his post as president if the war ends. It is certain that military developments will contribute to a better understanding on how Yemen will be governed.

The Jamaat opposed the independence of Bangladesh but has operated an independent branch there since 1975. It maintains close ties with international Mohammedan groups such as the Moslem Brotherhood. the Taliban, and al-Qaeda. The Jamaat's objectives are the establishment of a pure Islamic state, governed by Sharia law. It is distinguished by its xenophobia, and its opposition to Westernization, capitalism, socialism, secularism, and liberalist social mores...
and Junbish-e-Millie in North of Afghanistan.

According to the local government officials in Faryab, the incident took place late on Saturday afternoon in Maimana city, the bustling provincial capital of the province.

Provincial police front man Abdul Karim Yurish confirmed the incident and said at least ten people were also maimed during the clash.

He said a number of the police forces are also among those maimed during the clash.

Yurish further added that the festivities ended with the meddling of the local tribal elders and the situation is under the control at the moment

He also added that an investigation will be launched soon regarding the incident and those involved in the festivities will be introduced to the relevant security and judicial institutions.

This is not the first time festivities have taken place between the two parties as several incidents reported from the northern parts of the country, specifically the Faryab province last year.

The Junbish-e-Millie Party is led by the Second Vice President General Abdul Rashid Dostum
...ethnic Uzbek warlord who distinguished himself fighting the Soviets and the Taliban. The story that he had a bad guy run over with a tank is an exaggeration. It was an armored personnel carrier...

Britain follows US in electronics ban on flights from Middle East
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Britannia will follow the United States in banning carry-on electronic goods from passanger cabins on inbound flghts from Egypt, Jordan, Leb, Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. "Our top priority will always be to maintain the safety of British nationals," a front man said after the US imposed a similar ban, warning that snuffies plan to target planes with bombs in electronic devices.

The United States warned on Tuesday that snuffies plan to target passenger jets with bombs hidden in electronic devices, and banned carrying them onto flights from 10 Middle East airports.

Senior US officials told news hounds that nine airlines from eight countries had been given 96 hours, beginning at 3:00 am, to ban devices bigger than a cellphone or smartphone from the cabin.
    The Times of Israel adds:
US and British officials said Tuesday the decision to bar laptops and tablets from the cabins of some international flights wasn’t based on any specific threat but on longstanding concerns about Death Eaters targeting jetliners.

Philippine marine killed in clash with commies
[Malaya] A Philippine marine was killed and eight others were wounded in a firefight with communist New People's Army militants in Kalamansig town in Sultan Kudarat on Monday morning.

Army spokesman Arvin Encinas said the troops were sent to Barangay Hinalaan after they received reports that a group of militants were recruiting members in the area. He said the soldiers were fired upon by the insurgents in Sitio Tinagdaanan.

Encinas said, "They were conducting security patrol in the area because we received reports that the NPAs were recruiting," adding the marines clashed with the rebels, numbering around 10 men, for about 20 minutes.

Military spokesperson Jo-ann Petinglay said the military received reports that two of the militants were killed. She said residents saw the militants carrying their dead comrades.

In Misamis Occidental, soldiers overran an NPA camp in Tudela town, said Petinglay. She said the camp was overrun last Saturday afternoon after a clash with an undetermined number of militants belonging to the Western Mindanao Regional Party Committee.

    Morocco Arrests Suspected Hezbollah Financier
    [USNEWS] Moroccan authorities have incarcerated
Don't shoot, coppers! I'm comin' out!
Kassim Tajideen, deemed by Washington a top financier of the Lebanese Hezbollah movement, and plan to extradite him to the United States, a Moroccan security source close to the case said on Tuesday.

Tajideen was arrested on March 12 at Casablanca airport on an arrest warrant issued two days earlier by Interpol's Washington office for alleged fraud, money laundering and financing of terrorist activities, the source told Rooters.

He was in transit from Guinea's capital, Conakry, on his way to Beirut, said the source, who was not authorized to speak to the media.

Morocco's Interior Ministry declined to comment and the Ministry of Justice did not immediately respond to request for comment.

The U.S. Department of Treasury designated Tajideen, a Lebanese and Sierra Leonean national, a Specially Designated Global Terrorist in May 2009, calling him "an important financial contributor to Hezbollah".

In 2010, the Treasury Department hit Tajideen's brothers, Husayn and Ali, with sanctions for allegedly providing support to the Iranian-backed group. It said that Ali was once a Hezbollah commander in Leb.

U.S. sanctions have targeted the brothers' network of businesses in real estate, construction, diamonds and the food trade in Gambia
... The Gambia is actually surrounded by Senegal on all sides but its west coast. It has a population of about 1.7 million. The difference between the two is that in colonial days Senegal was ruled by La Belle France and The Gambia (so-called because there's only one of it, unlike Guinea, of which there are the Republic of Guinea, Equatorial Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, New Guinea, the English coin in circulation between 1663 and 1813, and Guyana, which sounds like it should be another one) was ruled by Britain...

With a population of about 74 million it has lots of raw material...

Rooters was unable to reach members of the Tajideen family for comment. Hezbollah has previously denied U.S. accusations that it is linked to money-laundering.

Key Abu Sayyaf leaders believed killed, says report
[FREEMALAYSIATODAY] PETALING JAYA: Intelligence sources in the Philippines have revealed that many key leaders of terror group Abu Sayyaf
...also known as al-Harakat al-Islamiyya, an Islamist terror group based in Jolo, Basilan and Zamboanga. Since its inception in the early 1990s, the group has carried out bombings, kidnappings, murders, head choppings, and extortion in their uniquely Islamic attempt to set up an independent Moslem province in the Philippines. Abu Sayyaf forces probably number less than 300 cadres. The group is closely allied with remnants of Indonesia's Jemaah Islamiya and has loose ties with MILF and MNLF who sometimes provide cannon fodder...
were killed in recent operations by the military, The Star reported.

While no information has been given by the Philippines as to the identities of those who were killed, sources said that among the dead were known gunnies involved in the beheading of hostages.

Previously, the Philippine military had announced the death of Buchoy Hassan, also known as Black or Bocoi. The military said Bocoi was one of 30 Abu Sayyaf members killed in military operations against the gunnies believed to have beheaded kidnap victims.

Among their victims was Sarawakian Bernard Thien, the first Malaysian hostage to have been beheaded by the kidnap-for-ransom group.

Thien was killed on Jolo island on Nov 17, 2015.

    However,
there is a theory which states that if ever anybody discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened...
sources believe other Abu Sayyaf leaders such as Idang Susukan and Majan Sahidjuan, also known as Apo Mike, were also killed, with many others on the run, according to The Star.

Apo Mike and Idang are among 23 Filipino nationals who were previously reported to be on the Eastern Sabah Security Command’s (Esscom) wanted list.

Those on the run include Alhabsi Misaya and Muamar Askali, or Abu Rami, the report said. Abu Rami is believe to be the group’s negotiator for the release of hostages.

Anti-kidnapping activist Professor Octavio Dinampo told the daily that Atai, an Abu Sayyaf sub-commander, had also been killed along with his wife and that of Idang.

"It is becoming more difficult for the gunnies. There has been no let up in the offensive and they have to be on the move constantly," he told The Star in a telephone interview.

Secret Service had removed alarm sensors from fence intruder scaled
[WashingtonExaminer] The fence-jumper who wandered around the White House complex for 17 minutes was able to elude the Secret Service in part because the agency has taken down alarm sensors along an area of one fence that he scaled, according to two sources familiar with details of the incident.

The intruder, identified as Jonathan Tran, was able to jump over three different fences, including at least one between the Treasury Department and the east area of the White House complex shortly before midnight March 10.

Tran was able to scale that particular area of the fence without setting off alarms because they had been removed, leading to confusion among officers about his whereabouts and whether an intruder was inside the White House complex, the sources told the Examiner.

The initial fence Tran jumped did trip alarms in that area of the fence-line, but squirrels or even birds sometimes also set off the sensitive sensors, which could have lead to uncertainty about whether someone had jumped the fence or not.

Secret Service personnel removed the alarm sensors along an area of fence line when the agency raised its height in response to previous fence-jumping incidents as a way to make it harder to scale, the sources told the Examiner. Ironically, the very effort to prevent fence jumping appears to have permitted a particularly egregious intrusion.

One source said superiors in the Uniformed Division told Secret Service personnel to remove the sensors and piece them together for use elsewhere. They were never replaced.

Sensors might need to be replaced because they are overly sensitive and always going off or if they are malfunctioning, a knowledgeable source said. Another said that area was particularly prone to false alarms because of birds landing on the fence-line and tripping the sensors.

There are at least 10 to 12 officers and agents, including supervisors from the Presidential Protective Division, monitoring these sensors at any given time. They do so from the Joint Operations Command Center or JOCC, which is located outside of the White House complex.

Some agents and officers also are questioning why Secret Service never released the K-9 unit to try to find an intruder after the alarms on the first fence the intruder scaled went off.
Article continues. Someone is a little confused as to mission - or maybe not.

LNA soldiers accused of ‘heinous’ war crimes after Ganfouda victory
[Libya Herald] The exhumation and apparent mutilation of the corpse of Islamist leader Jamal Makhzoum has been condemned as an "heinous" war crime by the Libyan Nation Commission for Human Rights (LNCHR).

In a widely-shared social media video, the clearly-decomposing body of Makhzoum is shown strapped to the front of a car, kicked and then paraded by Libyan National Army (LNA) fighters. In an act of celebration they also shoot their guns in the air.

The LNA is accused of committing a war crime by the LNCHR, who described the incident as a "despicable and heinous crime incompatible with human values."

Article 15 of the first 1949 Geneva Convention states parties to conflict when dealing with dead bodies must "prevent their being despoiled." The LNCHR argued it was a "flagrant violation of the rules of law and international humanitarian law."

In other photographs, dead murderous Moslems can be seen thrown on top of each other, sprawled across the ground. LNA fighters also pose with the bodies and take ’selfies.’

The Benghazi Revolutionaries Shura Council (BRSC) announced this week that Makhzoum, their former leader, had been killed in Ganfouda.

LNA front man Ahmed Mismari said yesterday they had found a mass grave of Islamist myrmidons, including Ansar al-Sharia
...a Salafist militia which claims it is not part of al-Qaeda, even though it works about the same and for the same ends. There are groups of the same name in Libyaand Yemen, with the Libyan versions currently most active. Tunisia's Shabaab al-Tawhid started out an Ansar al-Sharia and changed its name in early 2014. It still uses the old name now and then, probably because the stationery's not all used up and the web site hasn't expired yet...
commanders and the corpse of Makhzoum. Mismari said the Red Islamic Thingy was going to be recovering the other bodies.

Many social media users have said how disgusting the footage is. Some compare the behaviour of the soldiers to that of the so-called Islamist State. Images of hanged and mutilated corpses from the Qadaffy era have also been shared.

There has in addition been condemnation of the silence thus far of international diplomats.

The LNCHR called on the Benghazi attorney-general and the House of Representatives to open an investigation immediately.

    Meanwhile,
...back at the barn, Bossy had come up with a new idea, one that didn't involve kerosene...
the Moslem Brüderbund-linked Justice and Construction Party deplored the incident and in its turn called on human rights
One man's rights are another man's existential threat.
