The Grand Turk
Ex-CIA big says Flynn explored plot to ‘whisk away' exiled Turkish cleric
The disgraced former national security adviser for President Trump had reportedly discussed a plan with Turkish officials to possibly snatch an opposition leader from his home in the Poconos.

Former CIA Director James Woolsey told The Wall Street Journal that he walked into a Sept. 19 meeting in New York and was shocked to find retired Army Gen. Mike Flynn, who was then advising Trump's campaign, exploring "a covert step in the dead of night to whisk this guy away."

Woolsey noted the discussion did not include actual tactics for removing Fethullah Gulen from his Pennsylvania compound, but they did discuss not going through the US extradition process.

Among those reportedly in attendance was the son-in-law of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

A spokesman for Flynn disputed the account, saying "at no time did Gen. Flynn discuss any illegal actions."

Gulen, a cleric from Turkey, has been accused of masterminding a failed military coup that took place in his home country last summer.

Flynn resigned as Trump's national security adviser after 24 days over his contacts with a Russian diplomat.

#1  Why? He is failed goods. He isn't popular back home and us getting him doesn't have any leverage. Plus if we managed to put him back in power he would be overthrown again in a fortnight.

#3  Plus if we managed to put him back in power he would be overthrown again in a fortnight.

The objective wouldn't be placing him in power. The objective would be placating the Turks.

Sort of a "meddlesome priest" solution.

#4  The objective wouldn't be placing him in power. The objective would be placating the Turks.

Yes, placating the client and establishing a contracting record of 'past performance.' Excerpt from the FAR:

42.1501 General.
(a) Past performance information (including the ratings and supporting narratives) is relevant information, for future source selection purposes, regarding a contractor’s actions under previously awarded contracts or orders. It includes, for example, the contractor’s record of—
(1) Conforming to requirements and to standards of good workmanship;
(2) Forecasting and controlling costs;
(3) Adherence to schedules, including the administrative aspects of performance;
(4) Reasonable and cooperative behavior and commitment to customer satisfaction;
(5) Reporting into databases (see subpart 4.14, and reporting requirements in the solicitation provisions and clauses referenced in 9.104-7);
(6) Integrity and business ethics; and
(7) Business-like concern for the interest of the customer.
(b) Agencies shall monitor their compliance with the past performance evaluation requirements (see 42.1502), and use the Contractor Performance Assessment Reporting System (CPARS) and Past Performance Information Retrieval System (PPIRS) metric tools to measure the quality and timely reporting of past performance information.

If no other motive can be confirmed, follow the money.

#5  Yes, placating the client and establishing a contracting record of 'past performance.'

Quite aware of contracts, thankyouverymuch. And yes - it was laying a performance record. Though I wouldn't count on the Turks to abide by any 'contract'.

Frankly, I'm surprised your previous President and his people didn't do it. Maybe there was another, more local, contract being negotiated or was already inked.

If no other motive can be confirmed, follow the money

If there was currency involved, it wasn't the tangible stuff.

-Signs, Portents, and the Weather-
Venezuela is out of food, out of medicine, and running out of gas
[HotAir] Ed wrote last week about the shortage of bread in Venezuela which led the country's Vice President to announce spot checks on bakeries designed to ensure they weren't doing anything illegal with their flour. If that sounds like a bad joke it is, but it's also true. Bakers in Venezuela were even arrested for making brownies instead of price controlled loaves of bread.
Always the end result of socialism
It's not just food that the country is running out of these days. The Associated Press reports President Maduro is now turning to the United Nations for help with medical supplies:

"I've asked for support from the U.N. to help treat economic and social injuries that have hit our people caused by the economic war and the sharp fall in petroleum prices," Maduro said in a televised appearance Friday...

Maduro's socialist administration prides itself on being a provider of humanitarian aid to poor nations around the world. Even as he called Friday for the U.N.'s assistance, his aides were hosting a business forum called "Venezuelan Powerhouse" and the military was dispatching two cargo planes of emergency supplies, including some medicine, for victims in Peru of that nation's worst flooding in two decades.

But even more embarrassing for the socialist state is the fact that the country with the largest proven oil reserves in the world is now running out of gasoline. From Bloomberg:

"Yesterday, I went to three filling stations and I couldn't fill my tank," Freddy Bautista, a 26-year-old student, said in an interview while waiting outside of a gas station in the Las Mercedes area of eastern Caracas on Thursday. "I've been waiting 30 minutes here, and it seems like I'll be able to fill up today."

As the company's crumbling refineries fail to meet domestic demand, imports have become a financial burden because the country buys fuel abroad at market prices only to sell it for pennies per gallon at home. PDVSA, as the state-run producer is known, has been reducing the money-losing imports as it prepares for $2 billion in bond payments due next month, said Jose Brito, an opposition lawmaker on the National Assembly's oil commission.

Brito tells Bloomberg News, "It's unbelievable that this is happening in an oil producing country." Meanwhile, the Organization of American States is calling on Maduro's government to hold elections and to free political prisoners including Leopoldo Lopez. Lopez is an opposition political leader who was imprisoned on charges of inciting violence against the government. Last year the opposition party tried to get a referendum on President Maduro on the ballot but the effort was abruptly canceled by Maduro's cronies.
No... it isn't unbelievable that an oil producing country doesn't have gas. Ya gotta refine the stuff first and refineries are something that Venezuela doesn't have many of.

Their oil is a heavy type that requires extra refinering to make into gas. It isn't the Light Sweet Crude that the ME and the north sea produce that is a snap to make into gas and other oil based products. Ironically, most of the refineries that can process heavy crude are located in the US. Venezuela has to ship the oil to the US for it to be made into gasoline and then shipped back.

Little more complicated other than "Most proven Oil EVAH!!!" statements ignorant journalists spout.

#3  even more embarrassing for the socialist state

#5  Hmmm, impoverished indigenous population, vast amounts of natural resources... I got it, COLONIALISM! Where are the Belgians when you need them?

King Leopold jokes aside, we seen this movie before; Chile being one recent example. Here is the script:
1) Man of the People (MotP) rises up to overthrow previous oppressive regime
2) MotP f**cks up the economy big-time. Hardships, shortages of stuff, riots ensue
3) Army kicks MotP's ass, installs "right-wing" govt. Economy recovers
4) Wash, rinse, repeat

To misquote Borges, only the time, place and a few proper names have changed.

#6  HOVENSA, once nearly the sole employer on St. Croix, closed a few years ago processed this heavy crude. The Venezuelan economy was reduced to illegal gold mining & cocaine smuggling with recent seizures setting records. Hand-picked by Chavez, Maduro used to head up the military transport end of official state smuggling so he has no real leadership skills. Iran used to have regular flights so he does have international contacts, but maybe sanctions on banks have dried up funds? Many Venezuelans are pouring into Houston so no one of any means remains....cocaine has once again reached the early 90's levels, surpassing meth and heroin once again. Sec. Tillerson has a lot on his plate with another failed state imploding .

Russia Denies Supplying Taliban after NATO Claim
[AnNahar] Russia on Friday denied allegations by the commander of NATO

"These claims are absolutely false," Zamir Kabul

ov, head of the Russian foreign ministry's department responsible for Afghanistan and the Kremlin's special envoy in the country, told RIA Novosti state news agency.

"These fabrications are designed, as we have repeatedly underlined, to justify the failure of the US military and politicians in the Afghan campaign. There is no other explanation."

NATO's Supreme Allied Commander, US General Curtis Scaparrotti, who also heads the US military's European Command, told politicians in Washington on Thursday that he had witnessed Russia's influence grow in many regions, including in Afghanistan.

In a statement to the Senate Armed Services Committee, Scaparrotti said Moscow was "perhaps" supplying the Taliban.

In February General John Nicholson, the US commander of NATO forces in Afghanistan, testified that Russia is encouraging the Taliban and providing them with diplomatic cover in a bid to undermine US influence and defeat NATO.

Kabulov in 2015 said that Russia was exchanging information with the Taliban and saw shared interest with them when it comes to fighting the Islamic State

jihadist group.

Russia considers the Taliban a terrorist group and it is banned in the country, along with the Islamic State group.

Taliban fighters on Thursday captured Afghanistan's strategic district of Sangin, where US and British forces suffered heavy casualties until it was handed over to Afghan personnel.

At Least 50 Killed by Armed Men in C. Africa
[AnNahar] At least 50 people have been killed and dozens more injured since Tuesday after gunnies attacked three villages in the central Bambari region of the Central African Republic, local residents who fled their homes told AFP.

Prosper Tchoulekrayo, who beat feet from Yasseneme village, said the attackers had "fired indiscriminately on the inhabitants".

"The provisional toll of the attacks in the Agoudou Manga, Yasseneme and Ngouyanza is at least 50 dead. Dozens more have been injured," said Isaac Arata-Naba, an Agoudou Manga resident.

Tchoulekrayo said the attacks were staged by members of the UPC, a faction of the former rebel and mainly Moslem Seleka
...a 'mainly' Moslem rebel force in the Central African Republic that overthrew the govt, imposed a regime of rapine and looting on the country's non-Moslem population, and was then tossed by France. They still exist, getting funding and weapons from somewhere or other, licking their wounds, complaining about the oppression of Moslems, and occasionally raping and looting someone...
movement "which is continuing to stage reprisal attacks against natives."

But a UPC (Unity of Central African People) source denied the group was involved in the latest attacks.

The source said a rival Seleka faction called the Popular Front for the Rebirth of the Central African Republic had raided the villages, adding that they were targeting UPC positions.

One of the world's poorest nations, the Central African Republic has been struggling to recover from a three-year civil war between the Moslem and Christian militias that started in 2013.

President Faustin-Archange Touadera took office in March 2016 with a mandate to lead a transition to peace but much of the country remains under the control of gangs.

Deadly festivities between rival factions have regularly broken out near the central town of Bambari, where a contingent of the U.N. peacekeeping force is based.

The fighting is linked to the control of lucrative mines in the mineral-rich country and racketeering.

An independent U.N. expert on Central Africa, Marie-Therese Keita-Bocoum, had in February deplored that "gangs have taken over more than 60 percent of the country."

Terror Charges for Suspect in Murky Antwerp Car Incident
[AlAhram] A Tunisian man has been charged with terror offenses after being jugged
Please don't kill me!
for driving at high speed into a crowded shopping area in the Belgian port city of Antwerp, prosecutors said Friday as his motives remained unclear.

The 39-year-old suspect identified only as Mohammed R. was charged with "an attempt to murder in a terrorist manner, an attempt to hit and wound in a terrorist manner and arms infractions," the federal prosecutor's office said.

However,
a lie repeated often enough remains a lie...
a source close to the investigation told AFP on condition of anonymity that Sherlocks could not confirm if it was a terrorist attack and said the driver made little sense during interrogation.

Other sources said the charges could be interpreted as a "precautionary measure" in order to keep the suspect in detention.

Thursday's incident came a day after a similar attack in London that killed four people plus the attacker. Wednesday was also the first anniversary of the Brussels suicide kabooms in which 32 people died.

Mohammed R. drove at high speed through the busy Meir shopping area in Antwerp, forcing people to jump out of the way, authorities said. No injuries were reported.

He also ignored an initial order to stop by soldiers.

The authorities said they found a rifle and bladed weapons in the car after they arrested the suspect in a parking lot on Thursday.

The Antwerp incident put Europe further on edge after the London attack and the incident at Gay Paree' Orly airport last Saturday when a man was rubbed out after grabbing a soldier's rifle.

Investigators said the man in Antwerp was clearly "under the influence of something" but it was not clear what substance.

He was not in a state to be questioned by police until Friday, a source close to the investigation said.

Even then, "his explanation made no sense" and "it is not confirmed that it amounts to a terrorist attack," the source added.

The source said the suspect had recently traveled between Belgium and the Netherlands, living in his car.

A French source close to the investigation said the man had "spent the night in a holding cell" in Antwerp on the eve of the incident before being released on Thursday morning.

- 'Petty crime' -
The suspect had a history of "petty crime," such as public drunkenness and drug use, but has apparently never been flagged as a radical, a French police source told AFP.

Interrogated by French police, a friend of the suspect said the weapon in the boot of the car had been there for a long time and did not work.

The Belgian federal prosecutor's office said the suspect was driving at "very high speed" and that "at different times pedestrians were placed in danger."

Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel praised security services in the Phlegmish-speaking city that "did an excellent job."

With soldiers deployed at key sites, Belgium has been on high alert since March 22 last year when jacket wallahs attacked Zaventem airport and Maalbeek metro station, killing 32 people and leaving more than 320 maimed.

And then, at any moment one of the misbehavers, like this gentleman or the English convert Khalid Masood, might suddenly decide or be persuaded to attack unbelieving bystanders. Burkina links Ivory Coast Islamist militant with hotel attack in capital
[AlAhram] An Islamist myrmidon accused of criminal masterminding a deadly attack in Ivory Coast is also suspected of having planned a major assault in Burkina Faso
...The country in west Africa that they put where Upper Volta used to be. Its capital is Oogadooga, or something like that. Its president is currently Blaise Compaoré, who took office in 1987 and will leave office feet first, one way or the other...
's capital last year, a bigwig said Friday.

Ivorian officials believe Mimi Ould Baba Ould Cheikh organised the gun and grenade attack that left 19 people dead last March at the beach resort of Grand-Bassam, which is popular with foreigners.

Now he is also believed to have been "head of operations" for the attack on a hotel and cafe in Ouagadougou in January 2016 that killed 30 people, said Colonel Serge Alain Ouedraogo of the Burkinabe gendarmerie.

"The weapons and equipment for the attack were carefully hidden in the tyre of a truck that Mimi had sent to Burkina by his lieutenant Ibrahim Ould Mohammed," Ouedraogo told a presser.

The pair were locked away
Youse'll never take me alive coppers!... [BANG!]... Ow!... I quit!
in Mali by troops from La Belle France's Barkhane anti-Islamist myrmidon force -- Mimi in January this year, and his alleged accomplice last May.

Both were formerly living in a refugee camp in Djibo, northern Burkina Faso, Ouedraogo said.

After their arrests, the Burkinabe security ministry sent officials to Mali's capital Bamako and "obtained their confession of their involvement" in the Ouagadougou assault, the colonel said.

Mimi confessed to being in contact with an aide to Algerian murderous Moslem Mokhtar Belmokhtar of the al-Murabitoun group, who offered him 10 millions CFA francs ($15,200, 15,000 euros) to carry out the "plan".
As of March al-Mourabitoune is one third of a new group called Group to Support Islam and Moslems, along with Ansar Dine and another group. They are affiliated with Al Qaeda in North Africa in opposition to the local ISIS affiliates.
"He came several weeks before the Ouagadougou attack in the company of a white man with the first name Abderrahmane, using Nigerian identity cards for a reconnaissance mission," Ouedraogo said.

They had photographed the Cappuccino cafe and Splendid Hotel that would later be targeted in the attacks, along with another restaurant that was not hit, he said.

Cairo Blast Kills Egyptian Man
[AnNahar] An kaboom killed an Egyptian man on Friday in Cairo, the interior ministry said.

The blast in the Maadi district, caused by a "strange metal device", killed a 35-year-old doorman as he cleaned a garden, the ministry said in a statement.

His wife and two sons were maimed in the kaboom.

Islamist gunnies have set off bombs in Cairo, usually targeting coppers, since the 2013 overthrow of president Mohammed Morsi, a Moslem Brüderbund politician.

His overthrow led to a deadly police crackdown that killed hundreds of Islamist protesters, and an insurgency centred in the Sinai Peninsula that killed hundreds of soldiers and coppers.

Maadi is a large district that houses embassies and expatriates as well as middle and working class areas.

The site of the kaboom was not close to any embassies, some of which had been threatened by jihadists over the past few years.

German state bans mosque group after imam calls for killings

[Ynet] German state officials say they've banned an Islamic cultural association that ran a mosque in the central German town of Kassel due to extremist comments. Hesse state Interior Minister Peter Beuth said Thursday that the Almadinah Islamic Culture Association was banned because the group's leading imam had, among other things, repeatedly called for the killing of infidels in his sermons. Investigations by the authorities also confirmed that several members of the mosque had already left Germany for Syria to join extremist Islamic fighters there.

The statement said the man is suspected of belonging to and supporting a terrorist organization, which it named as the Islamic State group.

Report: Cologne New Year's Eve attacks 'could have been prevented'

[DW] A report obtained by German media has slammed authorities for mistakes leading to the mass sexual assaults at the city's train station. Police public relations in the aftermath were self-serving, the report also said.

On December 31, 2015, large-scale sexual assaults and thefts against women took place in numerous German cities including Cologne, where around 1,000 men descended on the square next to the central train station and proceeded to corral, rob and assault individual women. Over 1,200 criminal charges were subsequently made, around 500 of which pertained to sexual assault.

Police believe suspect began JCC hoax bomb campaign because army rejected him
[IsraelTimes] Israeli-American teen was turned down for IDF service, and was determined to show ’what he was capable of,’ TV report claims.

The Israeli-American teenager locked away
Book 'im, Mahmoud!
Thursday on suspicion of phoning in over 100 hoax bomb threats against Jewish institutions across the US and elsewhere reportedly began making the calls after the army refused to accept him for military service, apparently on medical grounds.

Quoting Israeli police sources, Israel’s Channel 10 news said the army rejection infuriated and depressed him, and made him determined to show "what he was capable of."

Parts of the case, including the 18-year-old suspect’s name, remain under a gag order in Israel.

The TV report said that the suspect was tracked down following an initial tip from New Zealand, one of several countries along with the United States to which he had telephoned hoax bomb threats to Jewish organizations.

FBI Sherlocks are in Israel questioning the suspect along with Israeli police.

His father is also in detention, reportedly on suspicion that he knew what his son was doing, while his mother has disappeared.

The American-born Israeli teenager had been wreaking electronic havoc of one kind or another for three years, Israel’s Channel 10 reported without elaboration.
Three years? But he is only eighteen. That would mean the army rejected him when he was only fifteen, well before the draft age in Israel.
He called in threats to Jewish institutions in Europe, Australia and New Zealand, as well as the US, and also issued threats to airlines.

His dozens of calls to Jewish institutions, notably including US Jewish Community Centers in recent months, caused evacuations of schools and daycare centers and widespread concern.

He had been home-schooled, rarely left home, but did want to do his mandatory military service, and was refused, the TV report said, infuriating him and prompting his hoax calls campaign.

When he saw the impact his bomb threats were having, his motivation grew to make more calls, the TV report said. Here he was "in his little room" in the southern Israeli city of Ashkelon, and "the whole world was paying attention... Little him, and the whole world was looking for him."

His lawyer, Galit Besh, said her client had a "very serious medical condition" that might have affected his behavior. She said the condition had prevented him from attending elementary school, high school or enlisting in the army.

"That’s why the medical condition can actually affect the investigation," she said. "This is one of the things the judge told the police to check, to talk to his doctors, to get more documents and to investigate him in light of his medical situation."

Nearly 150 bomb threats hit JCCs, Jewish day schools and other Jewish institutions since the beginning of the year, causing the evacuation of dozens of Jewish community centers. The threats have mostly come in waves, via phone and email. Many of the institutions have been threatened more than once.

#1  I posed the question to an Israeli friend, who said the IDF starts performing physicals and examining boys for suitable placement at age 15/16. They even have a unit for autistic kids, examining images. So it is possible rejection was the trigger, or the excuse.

Paul Ryan Takes the Barzini Meeting
Well, it's not like wiser heads didn't warn him:

And yet Paul Ryan walked straight into the Barzini trap that president Trump set for him. By insisting that the voters desired "Repeal and Replace" when in fact all anybody wanted was "Repeal, full stop," Ryan's inner wonk superseded his duties as the speaker of the House to ensure the votes were there for the "Replace" part of the equation. That they weren't should be the end of his speakership.

...Once the bright shiny penny of young GOP congressmen, Ryan blotted his copybook badly in his disappointing vice-presidential debate performance against a gibbering Joe Biden. He then played coy after House conservatives finally managed to sack former speaker John Boehner, but eventually accepted the proffered crown. During the election, he fought Trump every step of the way and lied about it.

So heading into round one of the health-care debate, there was no love lost between Trump and Ryan. Despite the fact that the House had already voted some 60 times to repeal Obamacare -- which is all GOP voters had been asking for -- Ryan got it into his head that what was really needed was a Republican version of Obamacare: "a better way." And so he set about crafting the latest version of GOP me-tooism, the American Health Care Act, which was ignominiously yanked this afternoon when it was clear there were not enough votes to pass it.

...Despite Trump's lip service in favor of the bill, it's hard not to believe that Ryan was set up for disaster. The bill had the speaker's fingerprints all over it, so it was a win-win for the White House. If the bill passed, fine: bad as it is, it was a marginal improvement on Obamacare, and Trump could be seen as having fulfilled a campaign promised. If it died, it was all on Ryan. And with it dead, the American people can continue to be tortured by the long, slow, painful death of Obamacare until they finally cry uncle and come begging to Trump to end the misery. Two out of three ain't bad.

#1  And yet Paul Ryan walked straight into the Barzini trap that president Trump set for him.

This 'Godfather' metaphor conveniently leaves out one character - HHS Secretary Tom Hagen Price. This was his plan every bit as much as it was Speaker Ryan's plan. And by extension it was President Trump's plan as well. Perhaps the apt quote should be;
Yournot a wartime Consigliere Tom.

Maybe so, but Trump does have a lot of contract experience. He knows how to play the deal to get what he want. In fact, lack of legislative experience may be a good thing as it's not "politics as usual" at play here, but "get it done!"

The Conservatives Made a Mistake
[PJMedia] ...Let's accept that Paul Ryan's healthcare bill wasn't optimal. If the Congressional Budget Office was anywhere close to correct in its original estimations, the bill would have cut government spending by $12.5 trillion, cut taxes by $900 million, repealed Obamacare's tax increases, and instituted the largest entitlement reform in the last thirty years. But yes, it's true, it wasn't full repeal. Indeed, as long as insurance companies are required to cover pre-existing conditions, government healthcare is with us, and the bill would not have changed that. And it is certainly fair to doubt whether the third phase of Ryan's three-phase plan -- the phase that would have returned the free market to insurance -- would ever have gotten past the Democrats.

#2  Depends on your definition of "good". Ryan's bill was crap, and they were going to railroad the thing thru like the Dems did, without a full reading/review.

#3  What I mean is that they had quite a bit of time to prepare a proper bill, and this garbage is what they tried to throw out there. Its as if the leadership wanted to keep Obamacare, and they figured they would either keep their version of it, or throw a bill out there so bad they would have to pull it and just leave O-care in place. Ryan and McConnell deserve a special place in hell for screwing the R's that keep them in office.

The right answer is to take the repeal bill from the last session, which they passed in both houses, and put it thru to President Trump, with a 2 year abeyance, which gives them time to generate a proper replacement with free market ideas and a lot less government involvement.

You would think after the better part of a decade publicly calling for repeal, and talking about replacement plans, they might actually have had something substantial ready to go. Now the mask is off and those beltway Republicans, the so-called "leadership", are nothing more than Democrats in different colored suits when it comes to government power.

#7  It probably would have been an improvement on the ACA, but it would still implode in short order. There was not enough benefit for the problems to be worth owning - better to let the Dems keep ownership.
They can't repeal - not enough political muscle. They couldn't 'replace.' Maybe they can try smaller changes that could make repeal possible later. Pre-existing conditions coverage seems to be the biggest problem - address that in some kind of practical fashion - COBRA does that for workers moving between policies, and it doesn't seem unreasonable to prohibit insurance companies from dropping people who would otherwise maintain coverage, and then not cover conditions which developed while they were previously insured.

Senior Hamas militant assassinated in Gaza Strip
[Jpost] Senior Hamas militant Mazen Fukaha was assassinated in the Gaza Strip on Friday, the Hamas-controlled Health Ministry in the small coastal enclave said.

"The martyr Mazen Fukaha was shot in the head leading to his death," Health Ministry Spokesman Ashraf al-Qidra said on Twitter.

The deadly incident took place in front of Fukaha’s home in the Tel al-Hawa neighborhood in the southern half of Gaza City.

The parties behind the assassination are unknown, the Hamas-backed Interior Ministry said in a statement, adding that the Hamas-dominated security services opened an investigation.

Hamas, however, accused Israel of carrying out the assassination.

"Hamas and its fighting brigades place the full responsibility for this reprehensible crime on the Israeli occupation and its collaborators," Hamas said in an official statement.
The Times of Israel adds:
Originally from a small village in the West Bank, Faqha headed the Hamas office tasked with launching terror attacks against Israel from and in the territory. His subordinates in the branch specialized in recruiting suicide attackers, collecting weapons and preparing explosive devices.

Faqha, 38, was responsible for sending a suicide bomber to carry out an attack in northern Israel in 2002 in which nine people were killed and 52 were wounded.

He was captured by the IDF and Shin Bet security services that year in his home village of Toubas in the northern West Bank.

According to a report in Haaretz from the time, Faqha was captured after a lengthy manhunt. He had previously been involved in several other attacks.

Before his release as part of the Shalit deal, Faqha was serving nine life sentences for planning the deadly 2002 terror attack.

Student Discovers Previously Unknown Form of Oppression
[PJ] Does the American liberal college student get a bad shake? Yes, they might be wrong about the vast majority of their positions, but they typically mean well, right?

I'm not so sure. Take a look at the "Oppression Olympics," and you'll see that many view everything through a "me-first," "I'm a victim," self-interested lens. For example, now a student is claiming that the Leftist anger itself against President Trump's travel executive order and his illegal immigration stance is "anti-black."

She says that people are talking only about Muslim and Hispanic "victims," and not black "victims," and that itself is a new form of racism.

Folks, I can't make this crap up:

The issues of illegal immigration and the travel ban are important to discuss and confront -- but the dialogue is also too focused away from how they impact black people, and thus contain "anti-black" sentiments.

That was one point among many offered up at Loyola University Chicago’s inaugural Social Justice Symposium on Saturday.

The anti-black comments came during one of the event’s breakout sessions, proffered by undergraduate student Keesha Moliere, who argued anti-blackness pervades recent immigration and environmental movements.

Moliere, a Haitian-American, said protests against President Donald Trump’s travel ban, recent deportations, and environmental movements ignore the intersectionality of black individuals and how they are affected by these issues.

Rachel Dolezal struggles after parents expose her as white expropriator
[MSN] SPOKANE, Wash. -- A woman who was once a black civil rights leader in Washington state, then lost her job after her parents exposed her as white struggles to make a living these days.

Rachel Dolezal said she has been unable to find steady work in the nearly two years since her background became public in media reports, and she is uncertain about her future.

"I was presented as a con and a fraud and a liar," Dolezal told The Associated Press this week. "I think some of the treatment was pretty cruel."

Now 40, she still identifies as black, despite being "Caucasian biologically," she said. And she still has the darkened complexion and frizzy hair that allowed her for years to pass as a light-skinned black person.

"People didn't seem able to consider that maybe both were true," she said. "OK, I was born to white parents, but maybe I had an authentic black identity."

Dolezal had blond hair and freckles while growing up near Troy, Montana, with religious parents. She said she began to change her perspective as a teenager, after her parents adopted four black children. Dolezal decided to become publicly black years later, after a divorce.

Female militant in Sylhet may also be from Bandarban
[Dhaka Tribune] Three of this family and many more from the neighbourhood have gone missing over the past year

The family of Zubaira Yasmin, the female turban enjugged
You have the right to remain silent...
from Chittagong earlier this month, believes that their other daughter Monji Ara Parvin may be in the Sylhet turban den.

As of 8pm Friday, police had two buildings in Shibbari area under Dakshin Surma upazila of Sylhet surrounded for 17 hours, having located a turban hideout there. Officials have said there is a woman named Morjina in there.

Zubaira and her husband Kamal Hossain, from Baishari union in Naikkhyangchhari upazila, Bandarban were killed during a police raid on March 16 in a turban den in Sitakunda, Chittagong.

Kamal, Zubaira and her brother Jahirul Haque left Bandarban over a year ago. Monji Ara, 16, left sometime later. The family says they were out of touch for eight months.

Bandarban police later said many people from the union had gone missing.

Ziabul Haque, Zubaira’s brother, said Monji Ara may be the woman named Morjina in the Sylhet den.

"Whether it is my sister or anyone else, if they are involved in anti-state activities they must be strictly punished," he said.

Sub-Inspector Abu Musa of the Baishari Police Investigation Centre said police cannot immediately confirm that Monji Ara is Morjina.

Police cordoned off the suspected bully boy den in the early hours of Friday asked the suspected Death Eaters to surrender.

the Death Eaters did not surrender till filing of the report at 7:00pm.

Meanwhile,

a team of Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) unit arrived at the spot around 3:52pm from Dhaka.

Later, the joint forces comprising of district police, and members of SWAT, including the bomb disposal unit, and Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) started the preparations to enter the house.

Earlier, ’the bully boys’ talked to police from the house several times.

In response to the police request for surrender, a male bully boy said at noon, "Send in force."

"We’re on the path of Allah. Send SWAT team as early as possible. Why are you killing time?...we don’t have enough time," said a female voice from the building at noon.

He left the Maadi Military Hospital in Cairo where he were tossed into the calaboose, heading to his home in Heliopolis.

"Yes, he is now in his home in Heliopolis," Mubarak’s lawyer, Farid El Deeb told Rooters when asked if Mubarak had left the hospital. Heliopolis is an upscale neighbourhood where the main presidential palace from which Mubarak once governed is located.

The 88-year-old was cleared of the final murder charges against him this month, after facing trial in a litany of cases ranging from corruption to the killing of protesters whose 18-day revolt stunned the world and ended his 30-year rule.

Syrian SDF forces reach Tabqa dam; US, French forces reach Euphrates dam
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have reached the entrance to the Tabqa dam where they are clashing with ISIS, Jihan Sheikh Ahmed, the SDF’s spokeswoman for the campaign to drive the holy warrior group from Raqqa, said on Friday.

The US-led coalition against ISIS air-dropped SDF fighters near Tabqa late on Tuesday on the southern side of the Euphrates, and other militia fighters were already present on the river’s northern bank.

Al Arabiya’s sources also revealed that US and French forces have reached the Euphrates dam.

The dam, the biggest on the Euphrates, stretches 4km across the river to the southern bank and provides one of the few land crossings remaining after the destruction of many bridges during the conflict.

Tabqa is about 40 km (25 miles) west of Raqqa, which ISIS has used for years as one of its main bases of operations, including to plan and direct attacks overseas, and which sits along the northern bank of the Euphrates.

With the help of coalition air strikes and US special forces on the ground, the SDF launched an operation late last year to isolate Raqqa and has surrounded the city in a large pocket of land backing onto the river.

Late on Tuesday, the US coalition air dropped SDF forces onto the southern bank of the Euphrates west of Tabqa, part of their preparations for an assault on the dam and a nearby town and airbase of the same name.

Jean-Yves Le Drian, Foreign Minister of La Belle France, which is a member of the US-led coalition, said on Friday that the battle to recapture Raqqa was likely to being in the coming days.

Religious TV station in Senegal accidentally airs porn
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] An Islamic television station in Senegal
... a nation of about 14 million on the west coast of Africa bordering Mauretania to the north, Mali to the east, and a pair of Guineas to the south, one of them Bissau. It is 90 percent Mohammedan and has more than 80 political parties. Its primary purpose seems to be absorbing refugees...
says it has filed a formal complaint against unknown saboteur "X’’ for taking over the network and airing pornography instead of its regularly scheduled religious programming.

Viewers tuning into Touba TV on Monday afternoon got a shock when hardcore pornography was aired from 1:10 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Touba TV on Wednesday called the broadcasting blunder a "criminal act" and said the formal complaint will make it possible to identify the "authors who have an unknown agenda."

The broadcaster said its viewers were offended, and it condemned the attempt as a "satanic move" to sabotage the values it advocates.

The privately run station usually broadcasts religious programs advocating Islamic values and teachings, including sermons and prayers.

Video released of the 200 people reportedly killed by US-led airstrikes in Mosul
[ALMASDARNEWS] Footage shows disturbing images of some of the victims, including children and babies burnt beyond recognition as workers sift through the rubble to search for any remaining survivors and clear the debris. Some reports have put the corpse count from the Arclight airstrike at around 230.

Hevidar Ahmed said that 130 of the people were killed inside one house alone, with a further 100 killed inside, most of them believed to be civilians.

"Some of the dead were taking shelter inside the homes," said the correspondent.

A US Central Command spokesperson has admitted that the US-led coalition carried out several Arclight airstrikes targetting IS forces in the region, but there has been no comment on the specific corpse count so far.

hotel on the company’s dime led to her departure from her radio hosting gig, according to a company memo sent Thursday and a staffer familiar with the details.

While the memo from Kevin Adell, founder and CEO of the Southfield-based WFDF-AM (910), The Word Network and WADL-TV, lists seven grievances against Conyers -- including such issues as "being obnoxious in the hallways of The Word Network and partying down like (it’s) 1999!" and bothering Adell when he was on vacation with his family -- it was Conyers’ attempt to book a stay at the Peninsula hotel that was the "last straw," said John Mattiello, director of marketing at The Word Network.

Conyers wanted to travel to Chicago to attend the Saturday funeral of Carolyn Rush. Rush, the late wife of Congressman Bobby Rush, died at 67 earlier this month and, Mattiello said, was "a big fan" of The Word.

Indonesia police fire tear gas on Muslims protesting church
[ABCNEWS.GO] Indonesian police fired tear gas on Friday to disperse hard-line Moslems protesting against the construction of a Catholic church in a satellite city of the capital, Jakarta.

Several hundred protesters from a group called Forum for Bekasi Moslem Friendship staged a rowdy demonstration in front of the Santa Clara church in Kaliabang, a neighborhood of Bekasi city, after Friday prayers.

Witnesses said police fired tear gas as the protesters tried to force their way into the church, which has been under construction since November. Some also threw rocks and bottles into the site.

Raymundus Sianipar, a Catholic priest, said police asked him to leave the area for safety reasons.

Moslem-majority Indonesia recognizes six religions, but turban Islamic groups frequently protest against the minority faiths and police often do not intervene. Members of minority religions that aren't recognized by the state face persistent discrimination.

N. Korea appears all set for nuke test
North Korea seems to have finished preparing for another nuclear test, waiting for leader Fat Boy Kim Jong-un's final decision, South Korean defense officials warned Friday.

"It's assessed that North Korea is capable of conducting a nuclear test within hours after Pudgy Kim Jong-un's order," an official said on the condition of anonymity. "We are keeping close tabs on its nuclear-related facilities with combined assets with the U.S."

The warning came in response to foreign news reports that a nuclear provocation, which would be North Korea's sixth, appears imminent. Quoting U.S. officials with the "most recent intelligence" from the peninsula, Fox News said the reclusive nation is in the final stages of gearing up for the test.

"The test could come as early as the end of the month," one official was cited as saying.

U.S. officials, Fox added, have detected evidence that North Korea has finished digging new tunnels around its nuclear site in Punggye-ri. But there have been no indications yet of busy activity of vehicles and equipment there. The South Korean military official also said no unusual signs have been detected yet in the vicinity of the area where the North has carried out five nuclear tests, including two, last year.

Speaking at a National Assembly session last week, South Korea's defense minister said the North seems all set to explode a nuclear bomb for a test at any time.

NOAA study shows as US drilling surged, methane emissions didn't
[NOAA.gov] A new NOAA study shows that methane emissions from the United States did not grow significantly from 2000 to 2013 and are not likely to have been an important driver of the increase in atmospheric methane levels observed worldwide after 2007, as other studies have suggested.
The other studies were racist gassist.
The paper, published in the Journal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres on March 24, provides additional insight into a question that has puzzled scientists for the past decade: What has been causing the increase in global methane levels since 2007?
Sorry. It was the bean burrito.
To examine whether U.S. oil and gas development could be playing a role, NOAA scientist Lori Bruhwiler and an international team of scientists analyzed methane levels in air samples collected by NOAA aircraft around the U.S. They did not find evidence of large increases in methane emissions.

"Our results show that U.S. methane emissions have likely grown at a very slow rate," said Bruhwiler, the lead author of the paper. "Other scientists have proposed that large increases from the U.S. are a significant contributor to the global increase, and we just couldn’t find evidence of this from our measurements."
Goddamn Vegans
Methane levels on the rise

Globally, methane levels in the atmosphere grew from the 1980s, when measurements began, to about 1999. Methane levels flattened between 1999 and 2007, and then resumed their growth at a time that coincided with an historic surge in U.S. oil and gas development activity. Several published studies have sought to draw a link between the increased the U.S. oil and gas activity and increases in global methane levels.

The question of whether U.S. fossil-fuel-sector methane emissions are on the rise is important because of the potential that new extraction technologies used here could be exported to exploit unconventional oil and gas reserves around the world.

Natural gas, which is composed primarily of methane, is regarded by some as a transition fuel between coal and renewable energy sources because natural gas, when burned, produces about half the carbon dioxide emissions of coal, according to the U.S. Energy Information Agency.

A potent greenhouse gas

Methane is also the second largest human-caused contributor to global warming after carbon dioxide. Though not as abundant as CO2 in Earth's atmosphere, methane is much more potent - with 28 times the warming influence of CO2 over 100 years. Because of its global warming potential, methane leakage must be limited for there to be a climate benefit in switching from coal to natural gas.

Other recent studies – including two based on the analysis of satellite estimates of atmospheric methane -- have suggested that U.S. methane emissions rose by up to 30 percent from 2002-2014. Bruhwiler and her team of researchers performed a thorough analysis of the satellite data used in the previous studies and could not identify evidence of a large increase in emissions from that data. Bruhwiler's analysis of data from aircraft sampling across the U.S. also showed no trend of large growth in emissions.

NOAA scientists have contributed to several other recent studies that point to a biological, rather than fossil fuel, source for increasing global methane levels. A paper published last year found that the growth in atmospheric methane was likely due to large increases in emissions from microbial sources such as wetlands, livestock, waste and rice agriculture, especially in the tropics.
Seriously though, methane is a gas we do have to watch as it is a very good greenhouse gas. Unlike CO2...
Fortunately, it is fairly easy to keep emissions under control and doesn't cost a lot to do so.
And no... farting cows aren't a major source. Pig farms, however are.

Al-Qaeda bomb maker who targeted Chicago on Fed's radar
[ABC7CHICAGO] reliably Democrat Chicago, aka The Windy City or Mobtown

was a target of the al Qaeda plot in 2010 when Sherlocks say master bomb maker Ibrahim Hassan al-Asiri packed explosives in boxes of printer cartridges. al-Asiri shipped them on FedEx and UPS planes bound for Chicago.

U.S. counter-terror agents say al-Asiri, 34, is developing a new generation of non-metallic bombs that are small enough to be hidden in underwear or even implanted inside the human body.

"Asiri is an evil genius," said Rep. Peter T. King (R-N.Y.), chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee. "He is constantly expanding, he is constantly adjusting."

He is also ruthless, having dispatched his own brother to death by hiding a bomb on him before he crossed into Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
to target the kingdom's chief counterterrorism official. He has tried to attack the United States three times in the past three years, building small, sophisticated and hard-to-detect devices in his workshop in the rugged terrain of southern Yemen.

Among the explosive design work attributed to al-Asiri is a device built into a laptop computer that detonated a year ago on a Somali passenger jet. The device blew a hole in the skin of the Daallo Airlines plane on but did not down the aircraft, because it detonated 20 minutes into the flight, before it reached cruising altitude. The suspected bomber was blown out of the plane, and his body was recovered on the ground near Mogadishu. The plane returned to the airport. Two people aboard were maimed.

Investigators suspect Abdullahi Abdisalam Borleh, a Somali national, carried the laptop computer with a bomb in it onto Daallo Airlines Flight 159, the source said. The bomber knew precisely where to sit and how to place the device to maximize damage. Given the placement, the blast likely would have set off a catastrophic secondary kaboom in the fuel tank if the aircraft had reached cruising altitude.

stronghold in the northern province of Aleppo, weeks after launching an offensive to retake the entire province, state media and an opposition monitoring group reported Thursday.

The push on Deir Hafer comes as U.S. aircraft ferried Syrian Kurdish fighters and allies behind Islamic State lines to spearhead a major ground assault on the strategic town of Tabqa in Raqqa province, which borders Aleppo.

That airlift marked a deepening U.S. involvement in Syria’s conflict ahead of a looming battle for the murderous Moslem group’s de facto capital, the city of Raqqa.

The airlift was part of what Pentagon front man Eric Pahon described as a large, high-priority offensive to secure the area around Tabqa and the associated Tabqa Dam.

The twin offensives follow weeks of mounting pressure on the opposition to surrender in pockets outside Damascus. That campaign has been underway despite a nominal cease-fire signed last December.

Hezbollah and the gullible Arabs
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The Russians would not save Syrian Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Light of the Alawites...
and his regime without Israeli approval. It is widely known that Israel has normal, if not strong, relations with Russia.

Tense relations are neither in Israel nor Russia’s interest. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu often travels to Moscow apparently to coordinate the Russian interventions in the Arab region. This clearly suggests that the Russian Federation coordinated with Israel before intervening to save Assad and his regime.

Iran too has strong ties with Russia although these relations have been a little tense recently.

Leb’s Hezbollah is the creation of Iran’s velayat-e-faqih (Guardianship of the Jurist). It receives most of its funding from Iran and secures the rest from drug deals across the world.

All these factors destroy the idea that the aim of Hezbollah’s arms is to resist Israel and protect Leb’s borders. This aim is often repeated by Lebanese supporters of Hezbollah and even Lebanese President Michel Aoun
...a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hizbullah...
reiterated this in Cairo.

The Iranians and their product Hezbollah propagate this idea to arm the Shiite militias in Leb so it can be used to protect Tehran’s influence and control. It doesn’t make sense for the Lebanese president to throw his support behind Hezbollah and officially adopt militias that take orders from the Guardianship of the Jurist.

Hezbollah’s ally
Aoun knows for sure that Hezbollah’s arms do not target Israel, as the party’s secretary general His Eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah
The satrap of the Medes and the Persians in Leb...
claims. His statement practically means that any threat made by Hezbollah is an official Lebanese threat. It is widely known that before becoming president, Aoun was Hezbollah’s ally and coordinated with the party. He knows well whom Hezbollah’s true target is.

All these givens indicate the following: First of all, Hezbollah and behind it Iran are on good terms with Israel and each party serves the other. Iran uses its hostility toward Israel as an excuse to serve its interests in the region. Iran’s support of President Assad, and not replacing him with someone else, serves the interests of both, Israel and Iran.

I have no doubt that if Hezbollah threatens Israel’s existence, then Israel can destroy the entire Leb, not just Hezbollah, through its intelligence and military power and capability to influence superpowers. Israel’s security and survival is unquestionable, not just for the Americans but for all superpowers.

Arabs, who are especially gullible, have not learnt anything from the history of fake leaders who used the Paleostinian cause as an excuse to serve their greed and domination.

An example of these leaders is Saddam Hussein and Gamal Abdel Nasser. Now there is Hassan Nasrallah, and behind them the Iranian regime. All of them exploited the Paleostinian cause to achieve their aims. Most Arabs believe the same lie uttered by deceitful leaders. The most recent is the liar and terrorist Hassan Nasrallah, and I don’t think he will be the last.

Government
Overwhelming Evidence: Obama INVOLVED in 'Wiretapping'
[Blacksphere] Below is an article written by Dave Bertrand. He connects the dots on how this investigation on "wiretapping" has suddenly heated up on Barack Obama and many of his minions.

Frankly, I feel pretty confident that Obama and his supporters will soon feast on crow. I wrote recently that you can see the buzzards circling, as the Left begin to demand an apology. An apology for reasonable conjecture, at worst.

Helen Keller sees and hears the bell toll for Leftists who dare buck Trump. Don’t make me...ok, November 8, 2016!

Dave writes:

Was Devin Nunes (R-CA) chairman of the House Intelligence Committee acting properly by going directly to President Trump with his new found "Raw Intelligence" discovery? Or should he instead have shared the illegal revelation with his colleague’s (Democrat Witch Hunt) investigation into "Russian Collusion" (alleged) against President-Elect Trump and the transition team?

First...let’s look at what is the "Raw Intelligence". Then, you decide if President Trump was properly notified of illegal activity by the former administration preparing to take-down his presidency.

"Raw Intelligence" collected by the NSA, FBI, or CIA is data, voice, or video collected before an analyst categorizes, identifies, and submits his/her analysis to (let’s say) CIA Brennan or FBI Comey for further investigation and classification. Names and places are usually redacted, based on the security level of the receiver, e.g. (For Your Eyes Only). The information is then used as part of an agenda and/or strategy for further investigation and/or specific targeting for an eventual action.

#1  The Obama regime "wiretapped" generals they didn't want around, foreign government heads of state, all of which was not only public knowledge, they actually bragged about it.

Since they were also the sheriff in town, they were untouchable. But never wiretap the new sheriff when you no longer have the keys to he jail house. Never.

#4  Under grants of immunity, which I obtained through Assistant U.S. Attorney Deborah Curtis, Montgomery produced the hard drives and later was interviewed under oath in a secure room at the FBI Field Office in the District of Columbia. There he laid out how persons like then-businessman Donald Trump were illegally spied upon by Clapper, Brennan, and the spy agencies of the Obama administration.

Montgomery left the NSA and CIA with 47 hard drives and over 600 million pages of information, much of which is classified, and sought to come forward legally as a whistleblower to appropriate government entities, including congressional intelligence committees, to expose that the spy agencies were engaged for years in systematic illegal surveillance on prominent Americans, including the chief justice of the Supreme Court, other justices, 156 judges, prominent businessmen such as Donald Trump, and even yours truly. Working side by side with Obama's former Director of National Intelligence (DIA), James Clapper, and Obama's former Director of the CIA, John Brennan, Montgomery witnessed “up close and personal” this “Orwellian Big Brother” intrusion on privacy, likely for potential coercion, blackmail or other nefarious purposes.

Terror alert in Lille as 'gangster' gunman shoots three people outside a Metro station 'to settle scores' as the French city is put in lockdown by armed police just two days after London attack
[DailyMail] At least three people including a teenage boy were wounded tonight after a man opened fire next to an underground train station in the northern French city of Lille.

Police said the 14-year-old boy was shot in the leg, while the others were wounded in the neck and back.

Anti-terrorist police were on the scene in minutes, but early indications were of 'a settling of accounts' by the shooter.

Basij morality police: Acid attacking foot soldiers of the Iranian regime
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] None of nature’s most vicious have an instinct for barbarism and cruelty like that of the Iranian Basij - Basij Mostazafan (mobilisation of the oppressed) ‐ the foot soldiers of the Iranian regime.

Acting out the role of morality police, they prowl the streets of Iran enforcing a code of conduct, mercilessly hunting down any women who disobey the rules on decency set down by the country’s leading holy mans, attacking those who do in the most horrendous way.

In response to women breaking these laws, which have been enforced in Iran since the 1979 revolution, whether a women is inappropriately veiled and not wearing long loose fitting clothes such as a chador in public, or is seen to be wearing lipstick, or it is just a case of a young teenage girl seen to be "fraternizing" with a lad in public, such violations are all classed by the Iranian regime’s hardliners as a sin in the spirit, or committing "indecent" behavior.

This Week in Guns, March 25th, 2017

By Chris Covert
Rantburg.com

The market for ammunition -- my guess would be in 9mm and 5.56mm -- is flooded. The effect is such that big league ammunition makers such as Federal are laying off workers, 110 in Federal's case. The company released a statement this week saying that a change in market conditions is responsible for the decision.

The next few months will be interesting as matters such as a flooded market and the lower cost of inputs start to take effect. Who knows under both of those conditions how far ammunition prices will drop?

The usual pre-Christmas price spike failed to materialize, so the post Christmas price recovery for consumers did not materialize as well.

It's funny that gun control fascists mock gun owners for their supposed paranoia during the Obama years, even though gun owners put their money where their fears were. I wonder how the left's hate will manifest now.

Oh, that's right. They are arming thsemselves.

Here's the thing about protecting yourself: it takes more than practice at a range and a fine handgun or rifle to be able to protect yourself or others. You have to be wiling to do battle without all those toys. I don't see liberals squaring off in a brawl, even if they conclude their cause is just.

Loads.

Rantburg's summary for arms and ammunition:

Prices for pistol ammunition were mixed. Prices for rifle ammunition were mostly steady.

Prices for used pistols were mixed. Prices for used rifles were mixed.

New Lows:

None

#1  Even though liberals are suddenly buying guns, sounds like the reason the ammunition market is flooded is they forgot to buy bullets.

Lets be patient with them, this is new to them and anything that has more than 9 bullets scares the crap out of them. Magazines with more than that MUST still be banned per their logic. Maybe they are taking the Barney Fife approach and just starting out with one bullet.

I really don't think they are THAT afraid of Trump supporters running around with MAGA hats, I believe deep down they see the situations they created, a.k.a. Chicago and incoming Syrians and are beginning to feel the same way people in the flyover heartland feel, the need to protect our families from Jihadists and our sheep from being raped.

This COULD be a good thing. Now if we could just teach them how to balance a budget...

#4  The market for ammunition -- my guess would be in 9mm and 5.56mm -- is flooded.

Short and medium term financial forecasts for small arms ammunition manufactures appear to show slower but consistent growth. This seems to be driven by expectations for increased military budgets and increased popularity in civilian self defense and shooting sports. As with everything else, how industry forecasts translate into consumer retail prices is anyone's guess. That said, I've had more than one ammo supplier say there are many small and medium retailers sitting on a lot of inventory. (Particularly in the most popular calibers.) Their advice is to be on the look out for deals on bulk sales soon. We shall see.

Car bomb kills 1, injures 2 in Mogadishu
A police official says a car bomb blast near a restaurant and hotel in Somalia’s capital has killed at least one person and wounded two others. Capt. Mohamed Hussein says the car bomb detonated in the middle of a road near the presidential palace.

Another car bomb exploded Tuesday at a military checkpoint near the presidential palace, killing at least six people. Al-Shabab claimed responsibility.

The extremist group has denounced Somalia’s new President Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed as an “apostate” and warned Somalis against supporting him. Al-Shabab was kicked out of Mogadishu under Mohamed’s brief term as prime minister in 2010-2011.

Swiss investigate spying on Turkish community
[Ynet] Switzerland
...home of the Helvetians, famous for cheese, watches, yodeling, and William Tell...
has launched a criminal investigation into possible foreign spying on the country's Turkish community, federal prosecutors said on Friday.

The Swiss foreign minister told his Turkish counterpart on Thursday that Switzerland would "rigorously investigate" any illegal spying by Ankara on expatriate Turks before an April 16 referendum that could expand Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan's powers.

For weeks, neutral Switzerland has been trying to avoid becoming entangled in a bitter dispute between Ankara and other European nations over campaigning by Turkish politicians to drum up support for Erdogan among Turks living abroad.

Saudi Arabia accused of bankrolling 9/11 al Qaeda attacks, lawsuit says
[NYDAILYNEWS] A new lawsuit alleging Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
gave material support to al Qaeda -- enabling the terror group's slaughter of some 3,000 people on 9/11 -- is giving some families hope the country’s role won’t be swept under the rug.

The Manhattan Federal Court lawsuit, filed Monday by more than 800 victims’ families, provides extensive accusations about the Gulf nation's complicity -- such as by bankrolling the attack.

Saudi Arabia "actively supported al Qaeda in its final preparations for the September 11th attacks," court papers contend.

And the country did so "through a network of the kingdom’s officers, employees and/or agents who met with and aided the hijackers, providing them with money, cover, advice, contacts, transportation, assistance with language and U.S. culture, identification, access to pilot training and other material support and resources," the suit charges.

Lawyers for those suing Saudi Arabia -- as well as the Kingdom's defense team -- met in court Thursday afternoon to discuss the status of the case, as well as related lawsuits.

Monday's lawsuit differs from prior 9/11 cases because it gives an in depth accounting of Saudi Arabia's role in the attacks, lawyers and victims say.

While the hearing Thursday was mostly procedural, Judge Sarah Netburn set some tentative deadlines for turning over documents, as well as for arguments to dismiss the lawsuits.

Sept. 11 widow Kathy Owens, whose husband Peter worked on the 104th floor of the North Tower, wants the allegations to be aired in open court.

Kin of 9/11 victims sue Saudi Arabia for complicity in attacks

Owens believes the new lawsuit, which she is a part of, is the best way to ensure these potentially damning details emerge.

"For the families, we just want the chance to get all the evidence out in public -- as soon as possible," said Owens, 57.

Tim Frolich, 52, of Brooklyn, was severely injured after fleeing the South Tower -- which collapsed shortly after he escaped.

Imam calling for Jews to be killed in sermon at Montreal mosque
A Montreal mosque is facing a police complaint and rebukes from the larger Muslim community after a video of an imam delivering a sermon in which he asks for Jews to be killed surfaced online. The sermon took place at the Dar Al-Arqam Mosque in the city's Saint-Michel neighbourhood on Dec. 23, 2016.

The video was posted to the mosque's YouTube channel three days later. The imam in the video is Jordanian cleric Sheikh Muhammad bin Musa Al Nasr — he was reportedly an invited guest of the mosque. In the video, the imam recites in Arabic the verse: "O Muslim, O servant of Allah, O Muslim, O servant of Allah, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him."

CBC independently verified the speech and its translation.

The controversial verse comes from a religious text known as a hadith, which interprets the words and actions by the Prophet Muhammad. The hadith in question deals with end times and tells how stones and trees will ask Muslims to come and kill Jews hiding behind them.
Yeah, yeah, we've heard that one before...
CBC Montreal has reached out to the Dar Al-Arqam mosque for comment and was told no one was available.
Go away and die, infidel...
The video was brought to the attention of B'nai Brith Canada, which filed a complaint with Montreal police on Monday. The organization said it is totally unacceptable that a mosque would allow this to go on.

"This is inciting violence, and this is inciting radicalization," said Harvey Levine, regional director of B'nai Brith in Quebec.

"It's against the law and has to be stopped," he said, adding that the complaint was filed with the Montreal hate crimes unit.

Montreal police confirmed they received a complaint, but would not provide any more information.

The president of the Muslim Council of Montreal, Salam Elmenyawi, wants to know why the imam was invited. He says the mosque should apologize. He added that the Dar Al-Arqam Mosque is not one of the more than 40 institutions the council represents.
There's part of your problem right there...
Imam Ziad Asali of the Association of Islamic Charitable Projects told CBC Montreal's Daybreak Thursday that he was also mystified as to why the cleric was invited to preach.

"I do not understand how this person was invited to come and give a sermon and spread this hatred in Montreal against any community," he said.
There's no mystery. It only takes one mosque to generate an Overton window...
The hadith is one of more than 100,000 that are written in many books, some of which are considered authentic, while others are not, said Asali.

"To use the themes of the Prophet to spread hatred is actually something that is disrespectful towards the Prophet himself," Asali said.

There are mosques in Montreal, the imam said, that embrace a more extremist message.

"These people, not only do they show hatred towards non-Muslims, they even show hatred to us Muslims," he said.
They generally do that to heretics, you know...
Levine said this is the second complaint against a Montreal-area mosque filed with the Montreal police's hate crime unit in just over 40 days. He said the police are still investigating that first instance but says they are not taking action soon enough.

"This is totally unacceptable. We want to know why the hate crimes unit has not done something to date yet. This person should be arrested and charged for hate crimes," said Levine.

CIJA Quebec, an organization that advocates for the Jewish community, said it has a close relationship with the Montreal police and has been following the two complaints.

"We know the Montreal police are seriously and diligently investigating these sermons," said David Ouellette, deputy director for CIJA Quebec. He added the group believes the police are close to completing their investigation of the first complaint.

London attack: More about Westminster terrorist Khalid Masood as two people remain in custody
[Telegraph] Scotland Yard on Friday afternoon issued the image of the middle-aged British Moslem convert who brought carnage to the heart of London on Wednesday.

Two suspects, both men, remained in jug on Friday night. Seven people have been released with no further police action. A 32-year-old woman, tossed in the clink
Drop the rod and step away witcher hands up!
in Manchester, has been bailed pending further inquiries, while a 39-year-old woman arrested in east London has been released on bail until late March.

Two people remain in hospital in a critical condition, one with life-threatening injuries. Two police officers injured in the attack are also in hospital with "significant injuries" after Masood ploughed a car down Westminster Bridge and stormed the Parliamentary estate arm

It comes after Mark Rowley, Scotland Yard's top anti-terror officer, disclosed that 2,700 items - including "massive amounts of computer data" - have already been seized in raids on 16 properties.

The revelations came as a picture emerged of the killer's nomadic lifestyle. Masood - a 52-year-old father of three with a string of convictions stretching back decades - claimed he was an English teacher. He was born in Kent on Christmas day, before later converting to Islam.

Hours before carrying out his atrocity, the career criminal stayed at a hotel in Brighton, telling staff as he checked out that he was he was going to London. He reportedly added: "It isn't what it used to be."
The Times of Israel adds:
Khalid Masood, who killed 4 outside the UK parliament, reportedly married a Moslem woman in 2004 and moved to Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. group claimed that Britannia’s deadliest terror attack in 12 years was conducted by one of its "soldiers" acting on a call to target countries in the US-led coalition fighting the jihadists.

Police said there was no further threat, but counter-terrorism commander Mark Rowley said they were trying to establish whether Masood acted alone "or if others have encouraged, supported or directed him."

Released by police, the passport-style photo of Masood, who also used the names Adrian Elms and Adrian Russell Ajao among other aliases, shows a black man with a shaved head and a goatee beard.

At least 50 people from 12 different countries were maimed when Masood plowed his rented car into crowds of people walking along the pavement on Westminster Bridge, before crashing the vehicle into the fence outside parliament.

Three people on the bridge died after being hit by the speeding car then the attacker leapt out and fatally stabbed a police officer just inside the gates of the Houses of Parliament before being rubbed out.

According to The Sun tabloid, he married a Moslem woman in 2004 and moved the following year to Saudi Arabia to teach English, returning in 2009, but officials could not confirm this.

Rowley said police were "looking at his history" and appealed to the public to come forward with any information about him.

"Our investigation focuses on understanding his motivation, preparation and associates," he said.

Detectives have searched 21 properties in London, Brighton, Wales, Manchester and the central English city of Birmingham in one of Britannia’s biggest counterterrorism operations in years. Wednesday’s attack was the deadliest in Britannia since jacket wallahs killed 52 commuters on London’s transit system in July 2005.

Rowley said that contact had been made with 3,500 witnesses, adding "We’ve received hundreds of uploads of video images to our online platform."

#1  Nobody seems to be doing a live feed today, choosing instead to post articles about what has been discovered about Mr. Masood's peripatetic life. The Daily Mail has three articles, the Telegraph and Guardian each have one, and while thus far there is some agreement -- born to a young mother who married well two years later, drugs and outbursts of violence in adulthood, prison conversion after 9/11, three sequential wives, time spent in Saudi Arabia teaching English -- there is disagreement on other things.

Fog of data collection -- no doubt consensus will be reached, but none of the articles called out to me to be posted at this point.

Has Moscow Found Its New Gadhafi in Libya?
[REALCLEARWORLD] Recent reports that Russia deployed special forces to an air base in Egypt near the border with Libya highlight the Kremlin’s growing concern with the domestic situation of the long-standing Soviet client. Strategically located and abundant with oil deposits, Libya since the violent overthrow of Muammar Qadaffy
...a proud Arab institution for 42 years, now among the dear departed, though not the dearest...
has become a battleground contested by numerous local tribes and Death Eater groups, as well as two rival governments.

The current state of affairs in Libya does not correspond with Moscow’s new role, nor with its vision for the Middle East. A power struggle between governments based in the Libyan cities of Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
and Tobruk has left a security vacuum across the country, one that invites and shelters Islamic murderous Moslems from all across the region.

The Kremlin views Fayez al-Sarraj’s government in Tripoli as weak and incapable of ensuring order and stability. Many in Moscow also see it as a puppet regime installed by NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. Originally it was a mutual defense pact directed against an expansionist Soviet Union. In later years it evolved into a mechanism for picking the American pocket while criticizing the cut of the American pants...
in order to diminish Russia’s sphere of influence and help the West lay its hands on Libya’s oil fields.

Quite simply, Russia’s goal in its relations with Libya is to install the pro-Kremlin regime. With its predilection for stability and secular strongmen, Russia also sees in Libya an opportunity to expand its greater vision for the Middle East and North Africa.

Moscow has allegedly provided military assistance to Libyan strongman and military commander Khalifa Haftar
... served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969. He became a prisoner of war in Chad in 1987. While held prisoner, he and his fellow officers formed a group hoping to overthrow Qadaffy. He was released around 1990 in a deal with the United States government and spent nearly two decades in the United States, gaining US citizenship. In 1993, while living in the United States, he was convicted in absentia of crimes against the Jamahiriya and sentenced to death. Haftar held a senior position in the anti-Qadaffy forces in the 2011 Libyan Civil War. In 2014 he was commander of the Libyan Army when the General National Congress (GNC) refused to give up power in accordance with its term of office. Haftar launched a campaign against the GNC and its Islamic fundamentalist allies. His campaign allowed elections to take place to replace the GNC, but then developed into a civil war. Guess you can't win them all...
, and Russia’s major private defense firm, RSB-Group, reportedly carried out a successful mine clearing operation at the Benghazi airport earlier this year.

A former colonel in Qadaffy’s army, Haftar was captured in 1987 by Chadian forces and was eventually forced to flee to the United States. Following Qadaffy’s execution, he returned to Libya and was promoted to the role of general by the National Transitional Council, the de facto governing body in the country following the civil war. Haftar later allied himself with the government in eastern city of Tobruk, which appointed him as a commander of the Libyan National Army (LNA).

Haftar vehemently opposes any shade of Islamism in politics and advocates for a united Libya. Many in Moscow view him as a reincarnation of Qadaffy, and one capable of ending the six-year stretch of anarchy in the war-torn country.

The Libyan strongman has already traveled twice to Moscow over the past year. There he spoke to Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and other key diplomatic officials. He was also invited on board Russia’s aircraft carrier, the Admiral Kuznetsov. in the Mediterranean, and he spoke by video link to Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu.

Earlier in March, Libyan House of Representatives President Aguila Saleh told Russia's state RIA Novosti news agency that Moscow has "promised assistance in the fight against terrorism". According to an LNA front man, at least 70 of Haftar’s soldiers received medical treatment in Russia over the last year.

Arabia
Who are the al-Ashtar Brigades, latest US-designated ‘terrorist group’?
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Iranian news agencies have remained silent ever since the United States government placed two affiliates of the Saraya al-Ashtar organization on its terrorist list.

In a statement, Bahrain's Ministry of Foreign Affairs praised the US’ "positive and important decision", saying that its position reflects the US determination to confront all forms of terrorism and all those who support and sympathize with it.

The US State Department had announced in a statement on its website that they designated Ahmad Hasan Yusuf and Alsayed Murtadha Majeed Ramadhan Alawi as Specially Designated Global Terrorists (SDGT) under Executive Order (E.O.) 13224.

"Today’s actions follow a recent increase in Lion of Islam attacks in Bahrain, where Iran has provided weapons, funding, and training to Lion of Islams. This marks yet another step in our continued effort to aggressively target Iran’s destabilizing and terrorism-related activities in the region," the State Department said in a statement.

"We will continue to stand with Bahrain in addressing these threats, even as we encourage the government to clearly differentiate its response to violent militia groups from its engagement with peaceful political opposition," they added.

Who are the al-Ashtar Brigades?

Saraya al-Ashtar, also known as the al-Ashtar Brigades in English, have grabbed credit for more than 20 attacks in Bahrain, mainly against coppers and security forces.

The name "al-Ashtar" links the group to Malik al-Ashtar, a figure revered by Shiites from early Islam.

They are perhaps responsible for what many have called the "single worst incident of terrorism on Bahraini soil," according to local activist group Citizens for Bahrain.

The incident refers to the March 2014 attack that claimed the lives of Bahraini coppers Ammar Abdu-Ali al-Dhalei and Mohammed Arslan Ramadhan and Emirati officer First Lieutenant Tariq al-Shehhi.

The three Bahrainis perpetrators with links to al-Ashtar Brigades were executed for their actions earlier this year.

They told Al Arabiya English they strongly welcomed the designation and viewed it as an acknowledgment of Iranian involvement with terror groups in Bahrain.

"In the recent past members of Saraya al-Ashtar have been found to have been trained and armed by Iran and some of their most senior members have taken refuge in Iran hence this can be considered a wholly Iranian proxy organization with aims that are hostile to Bahrain's security and illusory sovereignty," Mohammed Al Sayed, a spokesperson for Citizens for Bahrain, told Al Arabiya English.

MSF withdraws from hospital in Houthi-held region of Yemen
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The international medical humanitarian organization Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) have decided to withdraw from al-Thawra hospital in the Houthi-held governorate of Ibb due to the breach of their "no weapons policy."

Since the turmoil began in the country after the 2014 Houthi
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The Yemeni government has accused the Houthis of having ties to the Iranian government, which wouldn't suprise most of us. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews ...
coup in Sanaa, which led to an ongoing conflict that began in 2015, MSF has provided civilians with medical facilities that have become scarce due to the war.

"Due to our inability to run activities according to MSF’s principles of independence and impartiality, we have made the difficult decision to withdraw from Al Thawra hospital in Ibb," the program manager for MSF in Yemen, Hugues Robert, said in a statement on Thursday.

The statement stated that MSF, which employs 66 people in the hospital, would not depart immediately, but gradually over the next three months.

The head of the Yemeni government’s Higher Relief Committee, Abdul Raqeeb Fatah, said according to local media reports that the reason behind MSF’s withdrawal was due to harassment by Houthi militias who are in control of the area. The report said that turbans entered the hospital with weapons.

However,
some people cause happiness wherever they go; others whenever they go...
MSF denied the media reports, stating that they are not accurate. They said there have been no harassments and that medical personnel were never prevented from treating patients.

"The reason MSF decided to withdraw from the hospital was because people would refuse to leave their weapons outside before entering when we asked them to do so. This of course is a health and safety risk for both patients and staff," MSF press officer Maha Oda told Al Arabiya English, explaining that this was a breach of MSF’s no weapons policy.

Google pulls Hezbollah YouTube channel after The Register told them about drone ads
[THEREGISTER.CO.UK] Until just minutes before we hit publish on this story, Google was using a YouTube channel run by a fan of Hezbollah to promote potentially lethal drones.

Despite a backlash from advertisers, Amazon, Adobe and Google were among the tech titans advertising on the now-shuttered "Party of Allah"* YouTube channel ‐ which we imagine was not the group's "official" YouTube, though there was no way to verify this.

The Trichordist blog, which has been recording the use of brands on YouTube for five years, found Google's Home (its version of Amazon Alexa) being promoted. We found ads for Adobe Cloud Services and Amazon's Alexa developer initiative. But the most intriguing was for a drone.

The palm-sized Kudrone may not pack much of a punch ‐ but it's remarkable that Google is promoting it at all, given concerns that terror groups are increasingly taking advantage of low-cost consumer drones.

Iranian militias support Assad in Damascus battle
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The official website of Harakat al Nujaba militia has published pictures showing the presence of its elements in the vicinity of Damascus, to support the head of the Syrian regime Bashar al Assad in his war against the Syrian opposition, which is acquiring military gains in Jubeir, Abbasin and Fares Khouri street.

Harakat al Nujaba, which adopts the ideology of Iran Supreme Leader Ali Khomeini, asserted that the images published by the elements are in the context of their presence in the "vicinity of Jubeir and Abbasin," according to a report released Thursday.

The militias have posted various pictures of their elements deployed in the area, in their uniforms.

One photograph shows the presence of one of the militias’ religious figures, without naming him, wearing his turban and uniform and carrying his chaplet.

Iran has brought dozens of sectarian militias to Syria to fight and maintain al Assad regime, led by the Lebanese Hezbollah militia, the Iraqi Nujaba which follow the ideology of Iran’s Supreme Leader, the Fatimiyoun militia and others.

Boko Haram gangsters arrested in Katutura

11 members of a gang called Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
in Windhoek's Katutura suburb on Tuesday. A member of the Khomas police community affairs' department said the arrested gang members were aged between 16 and 27.

According to the police, the gang has been harassing people, as well as stealing and damaging property in parts of Katutura.

"These may sound like petty crimes, but it starts like this and if not controlled, it gets out of hand. There are various cases opened against the gang members, hence the arrests," the policewoman stated.

Deputy commissioner Edwin Kanguatjivi also confirmed the arrests, and said police were investigating the gang. But at this point in time, he could not comment extensively on the investigation.

An undercover police source told The Namibian yesterday that the gang appears to have about 100 members operating in areas such as Shandumbala, Okuryangava and Goreangab.

The source added that at least one gang member was wanted in connection with murder, and that the Boko Haram gang has increasingly become known for violence.

A Shandumbala resident, who was harassed by the gang, said the gangsters were more dangerous when they were under the influence of alcohol.

"I don't understand why these children are doing this. They don't care if you are an old person or not," the resident, who declined to be named, said. Another resident from the Gemengde area said they lived in fear of Boko Haram.

"I am a businesswoman. These boys would come to my place and provoke people. Sometimes they will pretend to fight each other, just to turn against the person trying to help. These boys are dangerous, especially in the evenings. They can easily kill you. They are very angry," she stressed.

Somali pirates seize fishing trawler off Somalia coast
Police say Somali pirates have seized a fishing trawler owned by a local businessman and forced the mostly foreign crew to disembark.

Col. Mohamed Hassan told The Associated Press on Friday that the pirates used a small skiff to board the trawler off the village of Eyl in the northern semiautonomous state of Puntland. Hassan says the pirates likely will use the trawler as a mother ship to carry out hijackings in international waters.

The incident comes shortly after Somali pirates seized an oil tanker and its Sri Lankan crew for several days — the first hijacking of a large commercial vessel in the area in five years.

Syria: Six years of an orphaned revolt
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Marine Le Pen, the French extreme right’s presidential candidate, clearly summed up how the West regards the Syrian Revolt, which erupted six years ago.

In an interview with al-Arabiya TV channel, she replied to a question about her view of Bashir al-Assad by saying: "If I were to choose between al-Assad and ISIS I shall choose al-Assad". This is a fact well-known to the sponsors and defenders of the Syrian regime. Thus, in order to save the regime it was necessary to derail the popular uprising, destroy its moderate armed and unarmed elements, and deprive the true ’revolutionaries’ of all kinds of support and protection.

This is how we have reached the current ’ideal’ scenario. The Syrian people are now out of the equation. What has been unfolding for the last six years is being depicted before the world as a straight ’choice’ between a regime that is willing to concede to all but its own people and a dubious krazed killer terror most of which is foreign.

Virginia federal judge rules in favor of Trump's travel ban
[LATIMES] Unlike federal judges before him, a judge in Virginia on Friday ruled in favor of President Trump’s revised travel ban in a case brought by Moslems who said the president’s executive order illegally discriminated against their religion by restricting travel from six majority-Moslem countries.

U.S. District Judge Anthony Trenga of the Eastern District Court of Virginia in Alexandria wrote that the plaintiffs, the Council on American-Islamic Relations
... the Moslem Brüderbund's American arm ...
and other Moslem community leaders from across the country, probably would not prevail in their suit.

Trenga said the travel ban likely "falls within the bounds" of Trump’s authority as president, and he rejected a request to halt the order.

Trenga’s ruling doesn’t have an immediate effect on the ban, which was put on hold by federal judges in Hawaii and Maryland last week. But it gives ammunition to government lawyers arguing for the ban across several U.S. courts where cases against it are are pending.

The Hawaii and Maryland rulings agreed with arguments that the travel ban violated the Constitution by discriminating against Moslems. The judges cited statements by Trump and his campaign associates about restricting Moslem travel to the U.S. as evidence of their intent to single out followers of Islam.

Trenga’s opinion gave less weight to Trump’s statements. It more strictly looked at how the travel ban is worded in light of presidential power over immigration and national security.

Finally, a federal judge (Trenga) who knows the law and follows it--not a frickin bought lefty "judge in a box" who pops up whenever needed to push a lefty cause.
