Ex-CIA Officer: Surveillance ‘intent was to allow for further leakage to hurt Trump administration'…
[Breitbart] Former CIA operations officer Scott Uehlinger, co-host of The Station Chief podcast, talked about the Susan Rice "unmasking" story with SiriusXM host Raheem Kassam on Tuesday’s Breitbart News Daily.

"I think it’s an issue which deeply concerns people like myself and other people, working-level officers in the intel community," Uehlinger said. "Even though at this point, there seems to be no evidence of breaking the law, this ’unmasking’ of people was ill-advised at best. I think it really shows that abuse of power and the fact that many people in the Obama administration were willing to violate the spirit of the laws designed to protect Americans, perhaps rather than the law itself."
Emphasis added.

I would encourge Mr. Uehlinger to reacquaint himself with the applicable Director Central Intelligence Directive (DCID), it's supporting legal authorities and federal laws.

#2  Ex-CIA Officer: Surveillance ‘intent was to allow for further leakage to hurt Trump administration'…

Thinking outside the box a bit. Could this same logic trail apply to former Klingon contractor Erik Snowden and his short-lived career at sometimes uncooperative community partner NSA ?

#3  I agree that the 'unmasking' was ill-advised, but probably not illegal.
The leaking of that unmasking to other agencies seems also to have not been illegal, thanks to last-minute Obama rule changes.
The leaking outside of government intelligence organizations was clearly illegal - but who can prove where the leak came from, since thousands of government officials had access.

#4  The whole thing was designed as a 'legal' series of independent actions that resulted in the leakage to the media. I wouldn't doubt a hundred lawyers looked it all over before hand, and that a hundred lawyers are currently sleeping in landfill.

McCain: Trump inaction on Syria is ‘disgraceful chapter' in US history
[The Hill] McCain, a longtime advocate of arming Syrian rebels and removing Assad from power, also barbed Tillerson, who recently said whether Assad will stay in power "will be decided by the Syrian people." McCain called that remark "one of the more incredible statements I’ve ever heard," echoing a fiery statement he released previously.

"Syrian people cannot decide the fate of Assad or the future of their country when they are being slaughtered by Assad’s barrel bombs, Putin’s aircraft and Iran’s terrorist proxies," McCain said Thursday. "U.S. policy must reflect such basic facts."

Calling Assad "one of the great brutal dictators in history," McCain emphasized that leaving the Syrian president in power would contradict the United States’ duty to spread democracy throughout the world.

"These are war crimes on the scale ... almost unmatched since Nazi Germany or Pol Pot."

Although McCain expressed "confidence" in the Trump administration’s national security team, he lamented what he said was a lack of conviction in America’s policy toward the Syrian civil war.

"I don’t see any doctrine right now," he said.

Iraq
Mosul from the sky: Evidence of IS using human shields
[BBC] The BBC has seen evidence that so-called Islamic State (IS) has been using children as human shields as they fight to keep control of the Iraqi city of Mosul.
Too bad the mighty Iraqi Army didn't fight to keep Mosul in the first place...
BBC Persian correspondent Nafiseh Kohnavard and producer Joe Inwood had exclusive access to helicopter missions of the Iraqi military and witnessed the battle from above.

Erij Military camp is a dusty compound just a few miles south of Mosul. The mangled and melted gas tanks that rise in the background hint at violent battles in the recent past. Giant attack helicopters sit on the tarmac, their sleek fronts give them an aggressive look, ready for action.

They never have to wait long.

Within minutes of our arrival, two young men in their flight suits run to their helicopter. The ground crew spring into action and within moments they are in the air. Their destination is west Mosul, the newest front in the battle against IS.

We spent more than a week living at the base, flying with the pilots who have helped in the battle against the militants who have ruled Mosul for two years.

It is not the first time that we have followed Iraq's helicopters as they battle IS: at Sinjar as they delivered aid to refugees trapped on the mountain; over the factory in Mishraq that doubled as a training camp for suicide bombers; last summer in the bloody fight for Falluja.

Canadian Prof Who Refuses To Bow To Crazed Trannie Speak Loses Government Funding…
[National Post] TORONTO -- University of Toronto psychology professor Dr. Jordan Peterson has had a federal research grant application denied for the first time in his long and distinguished academic career.

And he’s certain that the rejection from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada, the government agency that supports post-secondary research, is linked to the controversy surrounding his stand on gender-neutral pronouns such as "zie" and "zher," and the modern notion of gender as being fluid.

That his application was also rated so poorly is telling, he said, meaning that if the proposal had just missed the mark, it might have been a credible critique, but the proposal failed abysmally.

Julia Gualtieri, spokeswoman for the council, said in an email Monday that grants are awarded through a merit review process, and that "past funding is not a guarantee of further funding." Names of the peer review committee members will be publicly posted once all applicants have been fully notified, she said.

High schoolers' assignment: Present argument in favor of the Holocaust
[The College Fix] A pair of high school students who take classes at SUNY Oswego via a specialized program are upset at an assignment their "Principles of Literary Representation" class received: Defend Hitler’s Final Solution.

CiTi/BOCES New Vision program teacher Michael DeNobile handed out a "Top Secret memorandum" to the class "addressed to senior Nazi party members." It asked students "to put themselves in the shoes of Adolf Hitler’s top aides," according to a report at Syracuse.com.

Students Archer Shurtliff and Jordan April, who ended up on opposite sides of the, er, "debate" wondered: Does DeNobile really want students to argue in favor of "the Nazis’ justification for genocide?"

Although the lesson does tell students it is "not for you to be sympathetic to the Nazi point of view," and is just "an exercise on expanding your point of view," Shurtliff and April allege it created a rather intolerant atmosphere.

One student did a Nazi salute in class, they say, and another said he wished he’d been assigned the pro-Holocaust side "because Heil Hitler, duh."

#2  For debate team at High School (many, many eons ago), we debated Civil War economic issues, including slavery. Wasn't fun for the 'pro' side, but gave us lessons in reasoning and critical thinking. Our African-American senior class treasurer argued on the pro-slavery side (her choice). She did quite well, was very persuasive and was not offended. This was, as she said, 'an exercise'.

But we were 100 years after. This assignment, not so much.

#8  Depends upon how the teacher grades. Are they an anti-semite looking for automatons to write what they think the teacher wants, or is the teacher looking for conviction and rebellions.

I think John QC's line is almost perfect.

There is no sane argument that justifies the Holocaust.

Then go into the practicalities of diverting resources (trains, building, housing, etc) in the middle of a war to the death when displacing living populations would have put a burden on your enemy who would feel obligated to feed and care for them. Or embracing the Jews and Gypsies and getting them to help in the war effort (6 million more hands in the factories/front lines) by promising them a homeland or something, while vilifying the Russians instead. Might have had an atomic bomb before anyone else if they hadn't scared of or killed some of their brightest minds.

Then end with the same line. There is no sane argument that justifies the Holocaust, it was possibly the stupidest policy decision of an administration filled with stupid policy decisions.

Then see how the teacher grades the paper.

#9  The assignment has been cancelled, according to The Times of Israel:

A homework assignment that asked students in an upstate New York school district to argue for or against the Final Solution, from the perspective of a Nazi official, was withdrawn and will not be assigned again.

"This is an exercise on expanding your point of view by going outside your comfort zone and training your brain to find the evidence necessary to prove a point, even if it is existentially and philosophically against what you believe,” the instructions for the assignment said.

Two students who complained about the exercise were given an alternative task.

But the students, Archer Shurtliff and Jordan April, took their complaint further and called for the teacher to apologize and for the school district to permanently ban the assignment, the Syracuse.com website reported. Neither of the students, both 17, is Jewish.

On Monday, New York State Education Department Commissioner MaryEllen Elia said the assignment has been permanently scratched.

“Since first learning of the assignment, I’ve done my homework to determine the facts in this situation,” Elia said in a statement. “I spoke with district officials about this serious matter. We agree the assignment should not have been given. The teacher apologized and the assignment will not be used in the future.”

Showdown on Mount Gorsuch
[Powerline] This past Sunday, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell vowed that Judge Gorsuch would be confirmed to the Supreme Court this week. If put to a straight up or down vote, as he will be, Judge Gorsuch would win a majority for his confirmation. If Democrats rally 41 votes to support a filibuster -- Senator McConnell didn’t expressly say, but it was implicit in his vow -- Republicans would be put to the trouble of invoking the Reid Rule to proceed with the confirmation vote.

Yesterday the Democrats reached 41 votes to support a filibuster blocking a vote on Judge Gorsuch. Politico reported the story here.

Mitch McConnell is no fool. I take him at his word. I infer that he has the votes to extend the Reid Rule to Supreme Court confirmations and will do so with the support of Senate Republicans on Friday.

The Democrats have no case against Judge Gorsuch. The pretext that the Democrats have to die on Mount Gorsuch is ludicrous. No serious observer buys it. It’s a joke. See, e.g., the statement Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar gave to the Duluth News Tribune. No conceivable Republican nominee could pass muster under the "I say it’s spinach" test that she articulates.

It also departs from Senate tradition. No Supreme Court nominee has ever been blocked by a partisan filibuster. The filibuster of Gorsuch for no particular reason invites a united Republican response to invoke the Reid rule.

The Democrats’ filibuster is irrational from the perspective of the left. It belies their interests so long as a Republican administration remains in power by making it easier for Republicans to confirm the next justice, whose confirmation might alter the balance on the Court to the right.

Republicans have never used the filibuster to block the confirmation of the likes of Ruth Ginsburg and Sonia Sotomayor. If not them, who? By filibustering Judge Gorsuch, Democrats have made it easy for Republicans to do what is necessary to confirm him and prospective nominees who may move the Court in a direction congenial to conservatives.

In his excellent Washington Post column reviewing relevant history in some detail, Marc Thiessen derives some pathos, but I’m not feeling it. I don’t see a reason for conservative observers to feel any ambivalence about the extension of the Reid Rule to Supreme Court nominees.

Like Senator McConnell, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer is no fool. He is a calculating man. He is now a calculating man performing an irrational act. He knows it and he doesn’t like it. Yet Senator Schumer and his crowd -- including, let it be noted, Minnesota’s own Amy Klobuchar and Al Franken -- have become the willing instrument of a deranged base.

Obama Admin 'will become target of congressional investigation after this revelation' (Video)
[LI] I appeared earlier today on America Talks Live, with Steve Malzberg.

The discussion centered on two big developments today, the reports that Susan Rice "unmasked" Trump campaign and transition officials names from intelligence reports, and the Neil Gorsuch nomination and the threat of a filibuster.

On Rice, Steve used my post earlier today, Susan Rice unmasked? Previously said "I know nothing about" Nunes allegations.

Here are some of my comments:

What this suggests, is that while there may not necessarily have been anything illegal about Susan Rice making those requests, given her background, given how she was put out as the point person to spread the lie about the Benghazi video, that it was an attack based on a video, given her tattered history, I think that it’s very, very suspicious, and it certainly warrants additional information, additional investigation.

So I think what this all but guarantees is that there will be a dual track investigation in Congress.

On the one hand, any alleged collusion by the Trump campaign with Russia, of which there’s been no proof thus far, but also the action of the Obama administration.

I don’t see how the Obama administration does not now become a target of congressional investigation after this revelation."

As to Gorsuch, and Democrats leaving Republicans no choice but to go nuclear:

The filibuster has a moderating effect. A president understands that there’s some necessity of nominating someone in the mainstream.

And certainly, any argument you could have even used multiple times over with regard to Elena Kagan, or with regard to Sotomayor, or with regard to a lot of different people. But there’s been that moderating effect of a threat of a filibuster.

That’s not going to be there anymore if Chuck Schumer gets his way. So Gorsuch is going to be approved. But what it means is that it’s wide open for Trump to nominate almost anyone he wants the next go round.

And that might be to replace Justice Ginsburg, or Justice Breyer, or Justice Kennedy.

So I think the Democrats are going to come to regret this much as they now regret what Harry Reid did with regard to the lower courts.

How did I do?

Trump Derangement Syndrome support groups ?
[Guardian] Every second Sunday since Donald Trump was elected, groups of women across the country have been holding Solidarity Sundays ‐ activist meet-ups that aim to resist the president. And the number of different meet-ups has been growing.
Who needs the truth? I go to meetings.
There are now more than 100 different Solidarity Sundays groups in the US, including in traditionally conservative states such as Missouri, Texas and Louisiana.
One hundred groups? Golly.
With a different focus each month, the organizers attempt to tackle national issues at a local level. People gather in apartments and houses to write letters to elected officials, make phone calls, and learn about existing activist groups they can work with.

"We try to build communities and encourage people to get in touch with local groups and let people know they are not alone in the feelings they are having," said Emily Gallagher ‐ the co-organizer, along with Ryan Kuonen, of the Williamsburg chapter of Solidarity Sundays, in Brooklyn, New York.
A quick google reveals that both ladies have long been Democratic/Progressive community organizers who now are turning their attention to a new cause. This is not exactly a Tea party-like grassroots effort by housewives, small businesspersons, and retirees galvanized by their disgust with the new situation, but rather the latest effort on the left to fake it.
At their first meeting, in January, about 25 people gathered at Kuonen’s apartment. The February meeting, held in a loft apartment in Williamsburg, focused on the Black Lives Matter movement and attracted 60 people.
60 x 100 = 6,000. Not exactly a cadre large enough to swing elections in 2018, especially if most of the membership turns out to be the usual suspects.
6,000 people? That's fewer than were in the bleachers at any ballpark on Opening Day...
In March, the group focused on how women can run for office. The US congresswoman Carolyn Maloney gave a speech, and activists talked about running for local office.
How about inviting a Republican woman who is seeking office? Er, I thought not...
"We try to have a guest speaker every time," Gallagher said.
Bitter enders. Who knew ?

RAND Corp: Russia may be replacing US as #1 terror target
[Politico] It’s still too soon to say who is responsible for the bombing on Monday of the subway in St. Petersburg, Russia--but it wouldn’t be surprising if international terrorists were responsible. Russia is fast replacing the United States as the No. 1 enemy of Al Qaeda, the Islamic State and other Sunni jihadist groups motivated by violent and puritanical Salafist ideology.

This shift is rooted in recent Russian actions in the Middle East--including its escalating intervention in Syria and its moves toward intervention in Libya with the recent deployment of special forces to an air base in Egypt--that have drawn the ire of militant Sunnis worldwide and elevated Russia as the jihadists’ top target. And if the Islamic State’s "caliphate" in Syria collapses and foreign fighters, an estimated 2,400 of whom are from Russia, attempt to return home and fix their sights on the Kremlin, the situation could dramatically worsen for Moscow.

Terrorist groups have made their changing priorities clear. In an ISIS video titled "Soon Very Soon Blood Will Spill Like an Ocean," an ISIS fighter threatens Russian leader Vladimir Putin directly, citing the country’s intervention in Syria and its growing alliance with Syrian dictator Bashar Assad, Iran and the Lebanese terrorist group Hezbollah as proof that Moscow is the chief proponent of a growing Shiite axis throughout the Middle East. Forty other Syrian rebel groups have concurred, pointedly saying that "any occupation force to our beloved country is a legitimate target."

Mercedes-Benz yanks ‘O'Reilly Factor' ads amid sexual harassment claims
[Wash Times] Mercedes-Benz said Monday that it is pulling advertisements from Fox News’ "The O'Reilly Factor" following a report that host Bill O'Reilly reached financial settlements with five different women alleging sexual harassment and inappropriate behavior.
Pictured here, G4 Sport Utility.
A Mercedes-Benz spokeswoman told CNN in a statement that the allegations against Mr. O'Reilly were "disturbing."

"Yes, we had advertising running on ’The O'Reilly Factor’ -- we run on most major cable news shows -- and it has been reassigned in the midst of this controversy," the spokeswoman said. "The allegations are disturbing and, given the importance of women in every aspect of our business, we don’t feel this is a good environment in which to advertise our products right now."

The New York Times reported Saturday that five different women who accused Mr. O'Reilly of a range of inappropriate behavior, including verbal abuse and unwanted advances, had received settlements totaling about $13 million from either Mr. O'Reilly or 21st Century Fox in lawsuits dating back to 2002. The women who made allegations against Mr. O'Reilly either worked for him or appeared on his show, The Times reported.

Rush rips ‘unmasking,' sez Zero ‘weaponized everything' to destroy Trump
[Washington Times] Radio host Rush Limbaugh told millions of listeners on Monday that surveillance "unmasking" by former national security adviser Susan Rice demonstrates how "the Obama administration weaponized politically our intelligence services against the Republicans and against Trump."

Author Mike Cernovich broke news on Sunday that Ms. Rice was identified by the White House Counsel’s office as the one who "unmasked" associates of President Donald Trump who were randomly netted in electronic surveillance. The story went viral on Monday with additional reporting by Bloomberg and Fox News, but Mr. Limbaugh said the real story is being muddled by political analysts.

"The Obama administration weaponized everything else to use against the GOP, from the IRS to NOAA to any of these agencies, EPA, involving climate change," Mr. Limbaugh said. "The Drive-By Media reported all of this. We know that there had to be unmasking. We know that there had to be leaking. The media proudly told us that sources who could not be identified [...] fed them data. We know now that the media was complicit."

The conservative then said media outlets that reported on possible collusion between Mr. Trump’s campaign and Russia are now slow to say how the Obama administration may have legally but unethically spied on Mr. Trump’s campaign.

"I want to repeat a possibility that I mentioned," Mr. Limbaugh said. "While [the Obama administration] couldn’t get a FISA warrant to target Americans, they purposely targeted for surveillance foreign actors that they knew Trump transition people would be talking to and learned what they were saying that way. And that’s why Rice was requesting that these people be unmasked so that she and Obama and whoever else in this operation would understand who was being talked about and who was saying what. ..."

"The scandal is not Trump and the Russians," he continued. "The scandal is the Obama administration and these embeds in the deep state surveilling targets with the express purpose of hoping to capture Americans as part of the surveillance."

Susan Rice flashback 'I know nothing about the unmasking of Trump officials'
[Free Beacon] Susan Rice, former President Barack Obama's national security adviser, reportedly requested on several occasions the identities of "masked" U.S. persons in intelligence reports linked to President Trump's transition and campaign. The revelation contradicts Rice's past comments on March 22, when she claimed she knew "nothing" about the intelligence reports.

White House lawyers discovered Rice's dozens of requests last month, during a National Security Council review of the "government's policy on ’unmasking' the identities of individuals in the U.S. who are not targets of electronic eavesdropping, but whose communications are collected incidentally," Eli Lake of Bloomberg reported Monday, citing U.S. officials.

But Rice, who Newsweek once called Obama's "right-hand woman," denied during a PBS interview last month having any knowledge of the intelligence community's alleged incidental surveillance of Trump's transition team.

Suspects charged in London mob beating of teen asylum-seeker
When the government doesn't fix serious problems, the people will take it into their own hands. As we see here, the result can be considerably less nuanced.
[AlAhram] Authorities in London charged five people Monday over an unprovoked attack on a 17-year-old Iranian-Kurdish asylum-seeker as police sought to piece together the act of mob violence that police say involved as many as 30 people.

London's Metropolitan Police said all five suspects were charged with violent disorder, with one also charged with racially aggravated grievous bodily harm in the Friday attack in the London borough of Croydon.

Police said a group of youths approached the teen at a bus stop and questioned him. Upon learning he was an asylum-seeker, they chased him through the streets and beat him. The attack only stopped after police sirens could be heard and bystanders intervened. Two friends got away.

The teen has been hospitalized with a fractured skull and a blood clot on the brain but police say he is starting to make a recovery and may be moved out of intensive care Monday. Detectives are trying to find the victim's family, who live in Iran. He has not been named.

The attack has prompted strong condemnation from London's mayor and police officials. As the investigation has progressed, police have increased their estimates of the number of people involved.

"I think this was probably confidence by numbers," Detective Superintendent Jane Corrigan said. "It started off with this smaller group of people, who were joined by between 20 to 30, and they just viciously attacked these individuals because they were asylum-seekers."

During a short hearing at Croydon Magistrates' Court on Monday, the five people accused in the attack spoke only to confirm their names, dates of birth, and addresses. They are: Daryl Davis, 20, Danyelle Davis, 24, Barry Potts, 20, George Walder, 20, and Jack Walder, 24. All are from Croydon.

Potts, Jack Walder and siblings Danyelle and Daryl Davis were released on conditional bail.

George Walder, who was additionally charged with racially aggravated grievous bodily harm, was remanded into custody.

UK withholding diplomatic visa from incoming Palestinian envoy — Abbas
[IsraelTimes] Britannia has so far refused to grant a diplomatic visa to the newly appointed Paleostinian Authority representative to the United Kingdom, PA President the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas
... a graduate of the prestigious unaccredited Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow with a doctorate in Holocaust Denial...
said on Monday.

In an interview with the Pan-Arab daily al-Quds al-Arabi, Abbas admitted the UK had thus far held off on granting Maen Areikat, the former Paleostine Liberation Organization (PLO) representative in Washington, the same status as his predecessor in London Manuel Hassassian, in what appears to be a sign of ambivalence over Areikat’s diplomatic status.

"We asked the British government to treat the new envoy as it had treated the previous ambassador. It should not change its treatment as that would mean bad will and misconduct from Britannia, and we will have a position and reaction to that," Abbas said, after being asked if it was true that Areikat had not been given the sought-after documentation.

When asked if he knew the British were attempting to reduce the diplomatic standing of the PA’s envoy to London, Abbas responded: "The British are trying to scale back and are trying to put restrictions and obstacles."

The Paleostinian office in London was upgraded into a diplomatic mission in 2011.

"The consultations are not over yet. I do not think it is a big problem," Abbas added.

However,
death is not the end. There remains the litigation over the estate...
when asked if the PA would act in kind against Britannia, Abbas responded: "All possible options will be open to us."

Abbas did not explain why the British were withholding a diplomatic visa for Areikat.

The British consulate in Jerusalem did not respond to an inquiry on the matter.

The diplomatic dust-up comes as Paleostinians have threatened legal action against the British government if it does not retract its intention to celebrate the centennial of the Balfour Declaration.

The Balfour Declaration, a document signed on November 2, 1917, by foreign secretary Arthur James Balfour, announced his government’s intention to facilitate "a national home for the Jewish people" in the Land of Israel.

Paleostinian officials have long branded the Balfour Declaration a "crime," and last July officials in Ramallah announced plans to sue the British government over the document, viewed in Israel as an important step toward the country’s creation.

Abbas has spoken out against the centennial celebration of the document at nearly all of his recent major international speeches, including most recently at the Arab Summit in Jordan last Wednesday.

He has also called on the UK to apologize for the declaration and do so by recognizing the state of Paleostine.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said during an official visit to the UK in February that an invitation he received from British Prime Minister Theresa May to attend November’s centenary celebrations of the Balfour Declaration in London "speaks volumes" about Jerusalem’s relationship with Downing Street.

German court jails 4 Islamists over attack plots
[IsraelTimes] Moslem convert Marco Gaebel found guilty of placing bomb at Bonn train station, starting terror group with 3 others.

A German court Monday sentenced to life in prison an Islamist myrmidon who plotted a failed kaboom at a railway station, and handed jail terms to three other Death Eaters.

Marco Gaebel, 29, a German citizen and convert to Islam, planted a homemade pipe bomb in a sports bag at the main train station of Bonn, the capital of the former West Germany, in December 2012.

The bomb failed to go off, but its discovery sparked a major terrorism alert that caused travel chaos at the station two weeks before Christmas.

Gaebel and the three others were also found guilty of forming a terrorist organization and of plotting to shoot dead the leader of anti-immigrant group Pro-NRW in North Rhine-Westphalia state in March 2013.

The four gunnies were furious after the right-wing fringe group had staged an anti-Islamic street protest and displayed caricatures of the Prophet Mohammed outside a local mosque.

Two of the other defendants, Turkish-German Koray Durmaz, 28 and Albanian Enea Buzo, 46 received prison terms of 12 years while German Tayfun Sevim, 27, was given a nine-and-a-half-year jail term.

Judge Frank Schreiber handed down the sentences in a high-security courtroom in the western city of Duesseldorf after a two-and-a-half-year trial that included testimony from 27 experts and 157 witnesses.
Al Ahram adds:
Although the homemade bomb was discovered and defused before it detonated, the court said Gaebel deserved a life sentence due to the seriousness of the crime, the dpa news agency reported. It ruled out his release after 15 years, the usual life term in Germany.

Prosecutors said the men's plan was partly fueled by an audio message disseminated by the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan. They were jugged
Don't shoot, coppers! I'm comin' out!

Black Lives Matter Philly Bans White People From Its Meetings
[Daily Caller] Black Lives Matter Philly banned white people from an upcoming event, claiming it is a "black only space."

The April 15 meeting plans to discuss projects and initiatives for the upcoming year and act as a place for people to "meet, strategize and organize." While children are invited to attend, white people are explicitly banned from the meeting, according to the Facebook event page.

When people began questioning the ban on whites over Twitter, Black Lives Matter Philly stayed by their ban, explaining that their meetings are "black centered."

Anyone who identifies as "African disapora" is allowed to attend, the group explained over Twitter.

"If you identify as a person of the African Diaspora You can attend our meetings and become a member. If not you can support us in other ways," Philly BLM said in a tweet. "African Disapora" usually refers to people who were taken out of Africa during the Transatlantic Slave Trades.

Carriage of carnage: Pictures emerge from INSIDE the train where a nail bomb killed 11 in St Petersburg metro attack as police issue CCTV of 'Islamist suicide bomber who also planted a second device that was defused'
The latest as of Monday evening about the terror attack Monday afternoon (Russia Time) on the St. Petersburg subway.
[DailyMail] These are the first images showing carnage inside the carriage of a St. Petersburg metro train after a nail bomb went kaboom! inside - killing 11 people and injuring 50.

Police in Russia now believe a jacket wallah, who has close links to radical Islamists, was behind the attack.

He was described as being a 22-year-old from Kazakhstan and CCTV images of the suspect have been released.

One image shows a man in a red Parka jacket, wearing glasses and a dark green beanie hat and carrying a rucksack on his back. Another CCTV image shows the suspected suicide bomber walking along the street with both his fists clenched.

Despite initially issuing search warrants for two suspected terrorists, authorities believe the suspected suicide bomber was behind the attack and also have intelligence to suggest he planted a second bomb - disguised as a fire extinguisher - which was found and defused at a nearby station.

Nobody has grabbed credit for the kaboom, but previous attacks on Russia have been blamed on ISIS and Chechens.

Dozens have been injured, including at least three children, as it was reported the man left a briefcase on a train before moving carriages moments before the deadly blast.

Earlier several Russian media outlets released the CCTV pictures of the bearded suspect, who was wearing a long, black top and a hat, blamed for causing the carnage.

But it has emerged that the bearded man who was identified on CCTV as the main suspect, handed himself in to police and insists he is innocent. Detectives are putting the man through a lie detector test.

Blackwater founder held secret Seychelles meeting to establish Trump-Putin back channel
[WAPO] The United Arab Emirates arranged a secret meeting in January between Blackwater founder Erik Prince and a Russian close to President Vladimir Putin as part of an apparent effort to establish a back-channel line of communication between Moscow and President-elect Donald Trump, according to U.S., European and Arab officials.

The meeting took place around Jan. 11 -- nine days before Trump’s inauguration -- in the Seychelles islands in the Indian Ocean, officials said. Though the full agenda remains unclear, the UAE agreed to broker the meeting in part to explore whether Russia could be persuaded to curtail its relationship with Iran, including in Syria, a Trump administration objective that would be likely to require major concessions to Moscow on U.S. sanctions.

Though Prince had no formal role with the Trump campaign or transition team, he presented himself as an unofficial envoy for Trump to high-ranking Emiratis involved in setting up his meeting with the Putin confidant, according to the officials, who did not identify the Russian.

Prince was an avid supporter of Trump. After the Republican convention, he contributed $250,000 to Trump’s campaign, the national party and a pro-Trump super PAC led by GOP mega-donor Rebekah Mercer, records show. He has ties to people in Trump’s circle, including Stephen K. Bannon, now serving as the president’s chief strategist and senior counselor. Prince’s sister Betsy DeVos serves as education secretary in the Trump administration. And Prince was seen in the Trump transition offices in New York in December.

U.S. officials said the FBI has been scrutinizing the Seychelles meeting as part of a broader probe of Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. election and alleged contacts between associates of Putin and Trump. The FBI declined to comment.

Branches weren't actually established in Kashmir for another ten years. It has the usual demands for separation of J&K from secular India so it can become an independent Islamic rathole. It seems to have no interest in Pak Kashmir breaking away to join it. In 1994 Malik renounced violence after he was released from jail and from that point he and his organization pursued peaceful means to impose their will on the region...
on Monday slammed Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's speech in India-held Kashmire (IHK) a day ago, in which the premier asked Kashmiri youth to choose "tourism over terrorism".

"The statement of the Indian prime minister, that Kashmiris should choose between terrorism and tourism, and that youth who are striving for freedom are misguided, is absurd," the JKLF leader said in response to Modi's statements.

The Indian PM had visited IHK on Sunday to inaugurate an 11-kilometre-long highway tunnel worth 37.2 billion Indian rupees.

Iraq
Baghdad Bomb and Bullet Bulletin: 1 dead

1 dead in bombing attack near Abu Ghraib

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) One civilian was killed and four others wounded Monday when a bomb explosion rocked an area west of Baghdad, security sources reported.

Security sources were quoted saying that the explosive device was placed near a popular marketplace in Haswa, Abu Gharib, west of the capital.

The United Nations Assistance Mission in Iraq (UNAMI) has said that violence in the country lef 1115 casualties, excluding security members, during March. Baghdad was the second most affected province with 84 deaths and 246 injuries, according to the organization’s monthly casualty count. It excludes death toll among security members after Iraqi authorities had asked to get such information exclusively from security commands.

While several blasts are not followed by a claim of responsibility, Islamic State militants said they had been behind some bloody explosions and attacks that hit the capital in the past months, leaving casualties among civilians and security troops.

According to a recent report by the National Committee for Human Rights in Yemen, prisoners are subjected to severe torture, which includes mock executions and burning them.

The report stated that several government and private buildings were transformed into secret prisons and penitentiaries by militias, including 227 government buildings, 27 medical institutions, 49 universities, 99 schools, 25 sports clubs, 47 judicial buildings and 10 private houses.

There were 16,804 cases of arbitrary arrest, torture and enforced disappearances committed by Houthi militias and ousted Saleh forces, all of which were civilians, according to the report.
Several international organizations including Amnesty International have demonstrated such cases of arbitrary detention and enforced disappearance by the militias in their reports.

Following field visits, the National Committee for Human Rights in Yemen has reported that some detainees who were released after their arbitrary detention are suffering from poor psychological and physical health due to severe torture.

The released prisoners said the forces of Saleh and Houthi militias forced them to confess to crimes they did not commit.

The Houthis forced 99 percent of the released detainees to sign written pledges and papers to prevent them from engaging in any political rights, international or social activities that work against them.

If these pledges are violated, the militias will have the right to kill the detainee and his family, or confiscate his money and property.

Houthis have the secret penitentiaries under tight security, with access to only those in charge, as they have imprisoned prominent figures as well. Guards have to hide their identities so that they can prevent themselves from being identified in the future by any party.

The militias also abducted children from schools and forced them to engage in military actions. Alliance forces to support legitimacy in Yemen recently handed over 52 children who were recruited on the Yemen-Saudi borders after coordinated action with a number of international organizations such as the Red Cross and the UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF).

Israel foils attempt to allegedly smuggle scuba gear to Hamas frogmen
[IsraelTimes] Defense Ministry finds dozens of wet suits it says were going to terror group’s naval command unit in Gazoo Strip.

Israeli officials thwarted an attempt to smuggle wet suits into the Gazoo Strip, apparently bound for Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth",’s naval commando unit, the Defense Ministry said Monday, days after an Israeli official warned the terror group was increasingly exploring the possibility of seaborne attacks on Israel.

The ministry’s Crossing Authority, working with the Shin Bet security service, found some 30 professional-grade scuba suits hidden in a shipment of sporting wear that was heading for the coastal enclave through the Kerem Shalom Crossing.

The wet suits came from abroad to an importer in the Paleostinian Authority, who forwarded them along to Gazoo, "without the required coordination," the ministry said in a statement.

In an effort to keep scuba gear out of the hands of Hamas, wet suits cannot be imported into the Gazoo Strip without a special permit.

"The shipment was confiscated, and an investigation was opened into locating those involved in the smuggling," the Defense Ministry said.

Last week, a navy officer warned that Hamas was increasingly turning to the sea as a potential path for attacks against Israeli civilians and military personnel.

"We see rearming on every level on the sea-front -- systems, weapons and trainings. Hamas sees the sea as an option to achieve its aggressive, operational ambitions," Maj. Irad Shtatar told The Times of Israel.

"In parallel, we are tracking these developments to make sure that we have a response to these threats," he added.

Shortage of fighters plagues the jihadist forces across Syria
[ALMASDARNEWS] The jihadist rebels launched several offensives across the Syrian battlefront in the month of March, targeting a number of areas under the control of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and their allies.

While these offensives spearheaded by the jihadist rebels of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham experienced initial success, they would all inevitably end the same way with the Syrian Arab Army regaining their lost territory within days of launching a counter-attack.

Part of the reason these jihadist offensives were initially successful was due to the fact their forces attacked poorly protected areas with a large number of combatants, which would often leave their abandoned fronts vulnerable to Syrian Army attacks.

Bahrain king paves way for military courts to try civilians
[RT] Bahrain's king has approved a law allowing civilians to be tried in military courts, amid a major crackdown on dissent in the Gulf kingdom. Amnesia Amnesty International has called the move "disastrous" and "unfair."

The constitutional amendment, approved by King Hamad
...King of Bahrain (since 14 February 2002), having previously been its emir (from 6 March 1999). He is a Sunni, while the rest of Bahrain is predominantly Shiite...
bin Isa Al Khalifa on Monday, drops a clause limiting military trials to members of the armed forces or other security branches, AFP reported, citing Bahrain’s BNA news agency.

Although the law reportedly applies only to those accused of terrorism, the legislation does not specify what constitutes an act of terrorism, and Bahrain has previously charged peaceful protesters and activists with such offenses.

Ahead of the king’s approval, the amendment was passed by both the upper and lower houses of Bahrain's parliament last month.

Afghanistan
30 thousand kg of C4 explosives seized by Afghan forces in Bagram
Goodness. One could do some damage with that much.
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) personnel have seized at least thirty thousand kilograms of potent C4 explosives from northern Parwan province.

According to the local government officials, the explosives were placed inside 200 sacks and were buried in Shaka village of Bagram district.

The district administrative chief of Bagram Abdul Shukoor Qudosi confirmed that the explosives were discovered and seized during a joint special military operation conducted by the Afghan intelligence operatives and personnel of the other security institutions.

He said a suspect who was in charge keeping the explosives has managed to flee the area and investigations are underway to ascertain for which purposes the explosives were stored in the district.

Qudosi also added that the explosives were placed inside four trucks and have been shifted to Barikab for destruction.

The local security officials are saying that the discovery of the explosives is a major achievement as C4 explosives are rarely used in major suicide kabooms and devastating boom-mobileings.

Russian Orthodox Church urges change to Chechen ruling allowing hijab in schools
[RT] The head of the Moscow Patriarchate’s legal service has said a recent decision to allow Moslem headwear in Chechen schools should be reversed as it violates federal principles on the secular nature of state-run schools.

"Giving to schoolchildren such a right in the Chechen Republic is a violation of the secular principle of education in state-run schools and in this part the amendment must be corrected," Hegumenia (Abbess) Ksenia (Cherniga) was quoted as saying by Interfax.

The comment came just days after the parliament of the Chechen Republic passed a bill ordering all educational establishments to consider it students’ right to wear clothes or symbols required by their religion or national traditions, provided this does not contradict federal laws and does not harm the children’s health.

The bill means that the female Moslem hijab headscarf will be permitted in local schools. The Chechen capital, Grozny, introduced school uniforms with obligatory red headscarves for girls about a year ago.

Hegumenia Ksenia noted that Russian Federal laws do not grant schoolchildren the right to wear religious attire and therefore no Russian region could introduce any laws introducing it.

"The Federal Law on Education establishes the secular character of education and therefore cannot give schoolchildren the right to choose uniforms that match their religious beliefs," she said.

Malaysia, Indonesia allowed ‘hot pursuit’ of Abu Sayyaf
[Gulf Today] A top military official disclosed that their counterparts in Indonesia and Malaysia have been allowed to enter Philippine territory while in "hot pursuit" of Abu Sayyaf militants and other rebel groups.

Major General Carlito Galvez said allowing the presence of Indonesian and Malaysian troops in maritime areas of common concern is contained in an agreement signed by the three countries in 2016. He explained, "Based on the agreement, we can allow the hot pursuit to neutralise the threat (by the Abu Sayyaf) provide there is prior co-ordination," as he revealed security forces arrested the leader of a rebel group and killed another during operations in Sulu.

He added the three countries are also planning to designate an area for the deployment and naval and air force "multi-forces" on a rotational basis.

According to Galvez, the Philippines and Indonesia have an existing agreement but will include Malaysia because the area utilized by pirates and the Abu Sayyaf are the Celebes and Sulu Seas.

On Monday, security forces rescued the three of the five Malaysian crewmen of a tugboat abducted by the rebels and held captive by the Abu Sayyaf off the Malaysian state of Sabah in August 2016.

In a related development, Galvez reported the arrest of the leader of a criminal group suspected of providing arms to the Abu Sayyaf as well as the slaying of his follower. The leader, identified as Saudi Hadja, was nabbed after he and his men clashed with government forces on an island off the coastal town of Omar in Sulu. In addition to being wanted for arson and murder, Galvez said that military intelligence tagged Hadja as the source of major weapons to the Abu Sayyaf.

Rand Paul Calls For Susan Rice To Testify On Unmasking Trump Officials
[Daily Caller] GOP Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul said he believes former National Security Advisor Susan Rice should testify before Congress on her request to unmask the names of Trump transition officials collected during routine intelligence-gathering operations.

Paul argued the situation should not be downplayed, saying reforms need to be made to prevent individuals from being blackmailed on personal aspects of their lives through unmasking. He noted there was nothing stopping the former administration from looking through Trump officials and national security advisors’ conversations during the transition window.

"If it is allowed, we shouldn’t be allowing it, but I don’t think should just discount how big a deal it is that Susan Rice was looking at these," he told reporters Monday. "And she needs to be asked, ’Did President Obama ask her to do this? Was this a directive from President Obama? I think she should testify under oath on this."

Paul said he has long thought there are too many people with the ability to unmask individuals.
Emphasis added.

#7  Pretty sure that as NSA she was legally (and even ethically) permitted to request unmasking: contact between foreign persons of interest and Americans in sensitive positions could be a security threat. Revealing that information to other agencies and people only became legal after a late Obama order, but it would still be unethical if used for anything other than security purposes. I suspect the main motivation for permitting such interagency dispersal was to make it impossible to determine where the clearly illegal leaks to media and political operatives (but I repeat myself) originated.

Explosion in Gaza injures 3 at reported Hamas military site
[IsraelTimes] Online pictures show black smoke rising near Rafah from apparent training accident.
And a pretty picture it is, too. Click on the headline to see for yourself, dear Reader.
Three men were maimed by an kaboom near the southern Gazoo Strip town of Rafah on Monday, the Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth",-run health ministry said, in what appeared to be an accident at a terror training camp.
One hopes for instant and multiple deaths from these red wire/green wire incidents, but serious maimings ought not be rejected when they present themselves.
Hamas-affiliated media in the Strip said the kaboom occurred in a site belonging to the terror group’s military wing, but gave no further details.
I suspect many at Rantburg can provide as much in the way of detail as the most bloodthirsty might desire...
Gazoo Health Ministry spokesperson Ashraf al-Qidre said in a statement that "three men sustained varied levels of injuries resulting from an accident near Tel a-Sultan, west of Rafah."
"Mohammed broke a fingernail, Mahmoud lost half his brain, and Nabil need no longer worry about getting his girlfriend pregnant,"
Hamas, which is openly committed to the destruction of the Jewish state, is engaged in training its fighters, builds rockets and digs tunnels in preparation for another round of conflict with Israel.

The Paleostinian news site Palinfo posted a picture on Twitter it said was smoke rising into the sky from the location of the kaboom.

Last year, 22 members of Hamas’s armed wing were killed while "preparing equipment," the majority in a string of tunnel collapses, the terror group said.
This number does not include the number of small boy diggers buried farther down the tunnel at the same time, poor little mites.

There were no civilian nor security force casualties during the operation, it said.

However, the statement did not provide more details about the operation.

Palestinian woman who called in multiple false terror threats in E. Jerusalem arrested
[Ynet] After Israel's emergency service lines are inundated by string of phony threats warning of imminent terror attacks against security personnel, police arrest Paleostinian woman in her 30s.

A Paleostinian woman was tossed in the calaboose
Please don't kill me!
on Sunday night on suspicion of issuing fake threats of imminent terror attacks, that were supposedly to be perpetrated against members of the Israeli security forces.

The woman, from the Anata village northwest of Jerusalem, is said to be in her 30s.

Recently, Israel’s emergency services line, 100, received dozens of such threats in which the woman can be heard issuing a warning in Arabic of an impending attack against security personnel, particularly in eastern Jerusalem.

After every phone call, local security crews were put into action and forced to conduct search and scour operations until it became clear that the threats could not be authenticated.

Following an analysis of the conversations, police opened an investigation to identify and locate the the individual behind the bogus calls, who, after being arrested, confessed to the accusations levelled against her.

The courts extended her arrest of the suspected perpetrator until Wednesday and determined that she would be sent for psychiatric observation.

According to police, the main focus was being placed on protecting residents and visitors in Jerusalem, and that preventative measures were taken to thwart any possible intention to carry out a terror attack.

"Whenever any information is reported, the entire apparatus of the security forces are put into immediate action,’ the police said. "Such harassment, which leads to the activation of forces for no reason, harms the normal life of the city, but these incidents will be dealt with with a heavy hand."

Iran concerned over Raheel's appointment as head of Saudi-led military alliance
[DAWN] Iran has expressed its reservations regarding the appointment of the former army chief, retired Gen Raheel Sharif
..Pak chief of army staff, meaning he pulls the strings on the Nawaz Sharif puppet to make it dance and sing and not do much at all....
, as head of the Saudi-led 39-nation Islamic military alliance, saying it is not 'satisfied' with the coalition.

"We are concerned about this issue... that it may impact the unity of Islamic countries," Iran's Ambassador to Pakistain Mehdi Honardoost said.

Iran's state-run IRNA news agency quoted Honardoost as saying that Pakistain had contacted Iranian officials before issuing the no-objection certificate (NOC) to Gen Sharif to lead the Saudi alliance.

"But that does not indicate that Iran is satisfied with this decision or it has accepted the same," the envoy said.

The ambassador said Iran had conveyed its concerns to the Pak government.

Pregnant woman attempts suicide after alleged rape by 'influential' tribesman
[DAWN] Police officials in Jhelum Valley district of Azad Jammu and Kashmire (AJK) on Monday, while recording the statement of an under-treatment woman who had attempted to commit suicide, found out that she had been raped last week.

The incident happened in the constituency of AJK's Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider.

S*, the 25-year-old pregnant mother of one child, was subjected to the crime reportedly at the hands of an influential person from another tribe.

The suspect apparently took her to a deserted hut on the outskirts of Chikar on Friday afternoon, one of her relatives and police officials told Dawn on Monday.

Chikar is a famous hill resort towards the south-west of Muzaffarabad in the jurisdiction of Jhelum Valley district.

The victim, a resident of Khaitar Muradabad village, had gone to see her elder sister in the nearby Kalri village on Friday morning, leaving her four-year-old son behind.

When she was about to return in the afternoon, a man, who she later identified as Raja Nayyar, reached there along with two colleagues and forced her to sit in his jeep.

When her sister and brother-in-law resisted, they were abused and pushed aside by the accused.

The accused Nayyar dropped his colleagues after some distance and then took the victim to a shelter in a deserted part of the jungle, where he subjected her to rape, the victim told the police.

"I begged him in the name of God, I even put my chador at his feet, but he said he had already spared me once and he will not do so now," the victim told the police in Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed al-Nahayan (SKZN) Hospital Muzaffarabad.

The victim, after reaching home, did not share the harrowing incident with her husband, H*, and sobbed throughout the night without taking any meals.

The next morning, she narrated the ordeal to her poverty-stricken spouse, who advised her to banish the incident from her thoughts as they could do nothing to the tormentor due to his financial and tribal clout, she told the police.

The victim subsequently tried to commit suicide by ingesting poison and was rushed to Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital in Hattian Bala.

Iraq
Iraqi Kurdistan sets roadmap for independence referendum
[RT] The major parties in Iraqi Kurdistan have agreed on a roadmap for a much-anticipated referendum on independence. Although a timeline for the landmark vote is yet to be set, the region’s leaders say it is Kurds’ "natural right" to secede from Baghdad.

The Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) and Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) met on Sunday with Masoud Barzani, the long-time president of the Kurdish autonomous region, to discuss the practicalities of the independence referendum.

In a joint statement quoted by Rudaw news outlet, Kurdish leaders declared that the vote was "a natural right of the nation of Kurdistan to decide on its political and administrative path in a referendum and an entity of an independent state."

A joint committee will now be set up to discuss the issue with the other parties of Iraqi Kurdistan as well as "to set the timing and mechanism to hold a referendum," the statement said.

A spokesperson for the KDP, Mahmud Mohamad, told Rudaw that it had already been agreed that the referendum would be held in 2017. Kurdish parties will start talks with Baghdad and neighboring countries on the issue, he added.

Calls for Kurdistan’s secession from Iraq gained impetus following Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
’s (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIS) offensive on northern Iraq. Baghdad-controlled forces abandoned some areas, which were then recaptured by Kurdish Peshmerga militia and placed under their control.

As the struggle against IS in Iraq gained pace, Kurdish leaders argued that it was the right time for Kurdistan to employ the right to self-determination.

In October last year, Iraqi Kurdistan’s prime minister, Nechervan Idris Barzani, told German newspaper Bild that the Kurds will renew their push for self-rule once djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
is liberated from Islamic State.

"We are not Arabs, we are our own Kurdish nation... At some point there will be a referendum on the independence of Kurdistan, and then we will let the people decide," he said.

Europe
EU may have to pay Britain to leave if Brexit ministers get their way
[RT] The European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
may have to pay Britannia money for Brexit instead of the UK settling its divorce bill of up to £50 billion if a plan by ministers succeeds.

According to the Telegraph, ministers are working on a way to charge the EU for a series of UK assets currently held in Brussels’ coffers.

"This is being presented in a binary way as a divorce bill, in which we owe them," a source told the Euroskeptik newspaper. "It’s not like that. It’s more like leaving a gym or a club. You don’t continue to pay for other people to use the facilities after you leave."

Official estimates suggest British funds currently lying in the European Investment Bank are valued at around £9 billion (US$11.2 billion). Further analysis mentioned by the Telegraph adds an extra £14 billion in property, including embassy buildings, cash, and investments to the refund.

Europe believes, however, that Britannia owes it around £50 billion in outstanding commitments and pension liabilities.

"I think we have illustrious precedent in this matter: I think you can recall the 1984 Fontainebleau summit in which Mrs Thatcher said she wanted her money back and I think that is exactly what we will get," Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson said, recalling the former prime minister’s success in getting a rebate from the bloc.

Khanani gets 68 months in US prison
[DAWN] After spending more than a year in a Miami jail, money changer Altaf Khanani has been sentenced to 68 months in prison and a $250,000 fine on one count of conspiracy to commit laundering by a United States District Court in Florida, according to documents available with Dawn.

The sentence was passed on March 29.

The remaining 13 counts of actually committing money laundering were dismissed at the request of the prosecution, which cited Khanani’s cooperation in the investigation after he agreed to plead guilty and "to make a full, accurate and complete disclosure... of the circumstances surrounding the relevant offense conduct", according to the plea agreement signed in October 2016.

The agreement says the prosecution will recommend leniency during sentencing because Khanani "has assisted authorities in the investigation or prosecution" of his crime. Going by the massive scale of the investigation, which involved coordinated action from six different law enforcement agencies from three countries, it appears that the scope of the cooperation demanded from him was far larger than just the sting operation that ensnared him.

For well over a decade, Khanani and Kalia International (KKI) was one of the largest and most sophisticated exchange companies in Pakistain, running a global network of franchises that could move "billions of dollars" around the world for a clientele that the US Treasury department says included Chinese, Mexican and Colombian organised crime groups and designated terrorist organizations. "Altaf Khanani is known to have had relationships with Lashkar-e-Taiba
...the Army of the Pure, an Ahl-e-Hadith terror organization founded by Hafiz Saeed. LeT masquerades behind the Jamaat-ud-Dawa facade within Pakistain and periodically blows things up and kills people in India. Despite the fact that it is banned, always an interesting concept in Pakistain, the organization remains an blatant tool and perhaps an arm of the ISI...
, Dawood Ibrahim, al-Qa’ida, and Jaish-e-Mohammed" the treasury department said in November 2015, a few months after his arrest in the US.

Tasmanian Tiger sightings are piling up in Australia-carnivorous kangaroos
Multiple reports of Tasmanian Tiger sightings are starting to flow in from everyday citizens in Australia. Several people have recently claimed they’ve spotted the animal, which isn’t a tiger at all — and, despite looking very much like a species of dog, isn’t of canine lineage either — but a carnivorous marsupial. Spotting an interesting creature in Australia isn’t exactly a rare occurrence, but there’s one problem with these reports in particular: the Tasmanian Tiger is supposed to be extinct.

The last known Tasmanian Tiger was captured in its native Australia in 1933 and lived for a few years in a zoo before dying, and its death has long been thought to be the final nail in the species’ coffin. Australians have occasionally claimed to have spotted the dog-like animals over the years, but the sightings were typically rare and attributed to nothing more than misidentification. That’s all changed now, as several “plausible sightings” are beginning to give life to the theory that the animal never actually went extinct at all.

Now, scientists in Queensland, Australia, are taking action in the hopes of actually finding evidence that the Tiger is still around. If confirmed, it would be an absolutely monumental discovery, considering the animal’s history. The team plans to set up cameras in areas where reported sightings have taken place in the hopes of confirming the claims.
Tasmanian Tigers look more like dogs than kangaroos. Every time I look at reconstructed dinosaur bones I think of kangaroos -- the layout looks the same to my uneducated eye. I just have visions of allosaurs and Tyrannosaurus rexes hopping across the primoridial plain as they chased stegosaurs for breakfast.

#1  The problem is there are a lot of feral dogs in Australia from numerous breeds and some may look like Tas tigers.

These reports are from the mainland, not Tasmania, where the Tigers were supposed to have died out after the arrival of the dingo, 40,000 years ago.

There was a recent sighting on the outskirts of Perth. I thought at the time that the widespread poisoning of feral predators (foxes, cats, dogs) would have given them a ready supply of food (marsuptials are immune to the poison used), and allowed a residual population to expand outwards.

Sargodha murders
[DAWN] TWENTY people killed in order to ’cleanse’ them of their worldly afflictions. It is difficult to recall when the country, brimming as it does with people pursuing spiritual purity or combating all kinds of guilt via various routes, last experienced a similar incident of this magnitude. The mass murder that took place on Friday in Sargodha -- though discovered by police on Sunday -- at the hands of a shrine custodian and his accomplices, brings a number of ugly aspects to the fore: superstition, isolation from society, patronage of influentials. One may well include intelligence failure in the list, for most ignorant is a law-enforcement set-up that is unaware of what is happening for such long hours at a place potentially as heady as a shrine.

It is never too difficult for a clever individual anywhere to convince a few of those around of the need to clean up their souls but Pakistain’s social system facilitates such extreme steps by not doing enough to expose its citizens to the help they so desperately need in terms of their physical and mental well-being. Poverty is an issue in many cases, although this latest instance reconfirms that when it comes to matters of belief, even the supposedly educated can easily fall prey to overwhelming madness. The spiritual side to this story might never be known fully -- 20-odd people offering themselves up slave-like, in total submission, in such a manner is a riddle unlikely to be satisfactorily resolved. For the time being, a theory has been tentatively put forward which hints at some succession row at the Ali Mohammad Qalandar shrine where the incident took place, and which may have played a role -- given that the spiritual and material often go hand in hand in this business. That said, it is shocking to realise that the man who confessed, did so with an apparent sense of security that he will not or cannot be held accountable for his blood-curdling act. This sense of safety could only come from a real or imaginary immunity from punishment. Although that is an indictment of everyone around, practicality demands that the follow-up also include asking questions of those responsible under the system. How could the police not get a whiff of what was happening at the shrine? And where were the other routine minders, like the local government representatives, while the shrine was being bathed in human blood?

Derna Shura Council says war against Haftar still on
[Libya Observer] War on Khalifa Haftar
... served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969. He became a prisoner of war in Chad in 1987. While held prisoner, he and his fellow officers formed a group hoping to overthrow Qadaffy. He was released around 1990 in a deal with the United States government and spent nearly two decades in the United States, gaining US citizenship. In 1993, while living in the United States, he was convicted in absentia of crimes against the Jamahiriya and sentenced to death. Haftar held a senior position in the anti-Qadaffy forces in the 2011 Libyan Civil War. In 2014 he was commander of the Libyan Army when the General National Congress (GNC) refused to give up power in accordance with its term of office. Haftar launched a campaign against the GNC and its Islamic fundamentalist allies. His campaign allowed elections to take place to replace the GNC, but then developed into a civil war. Guess you can't win them all...
and his militias is still ongoing, Derna Shura Council has stated.

"The war is on despite the lack of support that we have." Derna Shura Council added in a statement Saturday.

It stressed that what is keeping their fight against Haftar and his forces alive is the backup of the residents in Derna and their rejection of the military coup.

"Our council doesn't follow the agenda of any political party in Libya as it is not a part of the conflicting political parties in the country." Derna Shura Council reaffirmed.

"No party or individual is allowed to use our name inside or outside Libya without a formal letter signed by the council's head." It explained.

It also expressed utter rejection for any political standpoint or vision that can make the country get astray away from the February revolution or harm it in any way.

"We only follow the Libyan Fatwa House that is headed by the Libyan Mufti, al-Sadiq al-Ghariani
...Libyan Moslem Brüderhood Grand Mufti since 2012. Issued a fatwa forbidding Libyan women from marrying foreign men. Issued a "fatwa against a UN Commission on the Status of Women's report because it urged governments to protect women and girls against violence" Aligned with the GNC govt...
." The council reiterated.

The statement of the council clarified that the only goal the council has is to protect February revolution and the city as well as the residents, let alone helping Libya's revolutionaries, especially in Benghazi, given the amount of crimes and inhumanity they are facing.

ISIS deploys female snipers in western Mosul

Mosul (IraqiNews.com) The Islamic State has begun deploying women snipers to hold off advancing Iraqi troops in some areas of western Mosul, while exhibiting fierce resistance at one district.

Security sources have been quoted saying snipers from IS’s notorious “al-Khansaa” women battalion had been deployed above tall buildings to shoot at security troops, but did not name the exact districts where the step was taken.

Meanwhile, Anadolu Agency quoted security commanders saying that IS fighters were fighting back fiercely at al-Yarmouk district, where intense battles between the group and security forces have been undergoing over the past few days. They added that battles left casualties on both sides.

Brig. Gen. Mostafa al-Khazraji, from the Interior Ministry’s Rapid Response forces, told the agency that IS launched three booby-trapped cars towards security forces at Yarmouk, leaving three members dead and a few others wounded.

He said the suicide attacks were followed by gun and mortar assaults, forcing troops to retreat to the outskirts of Yarmouk waiting for a aerial intervention that would pave the way for a fresh ground invasion.

Meanwhile, 32 IS members and eight security troopers were killed in an attack on Federal Police and Rapid Response troops in Orouba region, southwest of Mosul, Lt. Dergham Khafaji todl Anadolu Agency. He added that the fighters were attempting to tap into bad weather to carry out the attack which lasted for more than three consecutive hours.

Three other officers were killed in a drone attack by IS on a military deployment near the Nineveh Governorate building in central Mosul, Maj. Alaa al-Zahri, from the Rapid Response force, told Anadolu Agency.

Iraqi government forces retook eastern Mosul from IS in January, and launched an offensive mid February to retake the west, where security commanders have said they had taken over 60 percent of territory.

ISIS families attacked in Anbar

Hiit (IraqiNews.com) Unknown attackers threw sound bombs at houses owned by families of Islamic State fighters in western Anbar, according to local sources.

Alsumaria News quoted the sources saying that the unidentified attackers hurled the grenades late Sunday at houses in the city of Hiit belonging to locals whose sons had joined the extremist militant group.

No casualties or material damages resulted from the attack, according to the source.

Local fury against families of IS members had prompted officials at the city to call for evacuating those families to prevent potential actions of violence.

Islamic State militants took over large areas of Iraq and neighboring Syria in 2014 to proclaim an “Islamic Caliphate”. Since then, the group executed hundreds of Iraqis for violating its strict religious codes, collaborating with security and attempting to flee areas under its control.

The Iraqi government says more than four million people were displaced since IS emergence.

IS is currently struggling with a few remaining members to defend Mosul, its last major stronghold in Iraq where a security campaign has been running since October 2016 to retake the city.

IS has held a few towns in western Anbar since 2014, and the Iraqi government is predicted to move to liberating those areas after retaking Mosul.

ISIS kills imam in western Mosul(!)

Mosul (IraqiNews.com) A local source in Mosul has said that Islamic State militants killed the imam of a mosque located in the western side of the city.

“IS militants shot dead the Imam of a mosque in Hawi al-Kanisah region in front of the residents after he refused to approve a death sentence against people who refused to take part in terrorist operations against the security troops deployed there,” the source told Alsumaria News on Monday.

The source added that “the Imam refused to issue the death sentence and shoot them as such sentences should be issued by a judge and carried out by authorities in question.”

After losing most of the lands that were under its control in Mosul, IS resorts to this step to intimidate people to urge them carry out terrorist operations.

IS has executed hundreds of civilians and security members since it took over large areas in Iraq to proclaim a self-styled “Islamic Caliphate”.

Iraqi troops launched military operations to drive IS militants out of western Mosul, Islamic State’s strongest stronghold in Iraq.

Eastern Mosul was recaptured from IS in January, after a US-backed offensive was launched in October. A new offensive started in February to retake the west.

Retaking Mosul could ruin the “Islamic Caliphate”, which was declared in 2014 when the group occupied several parts of the country.

20 civilian dead found in southern Mosul

Mosul (IraqiNews.com) Twenty bodies of women and children, executed by the Islamic State, were found in the south of Nineveh province, a medical source said.

“The hospital of Qayyarah town, south of Mosul, received 20 bodies of women and children who were killed by IS while trying to escape the western side of Mosul,” the source told Alsumaria on Monday. The bodies were found by security troops near the town, he added.

Speaking on condition of anonymity, the source said “some bodies are decayed. They were buried at the same places, where they were executed by the militants.”

Tens of civilians who flee regions controlled by IS have been shot dead or killed by mines planted by the militants.

Hundreds of civilians and security members were executed by IS since it took over large areas in Iraq to proclaim a self-styled “Islamic Caliphate” in 2014. The executions were carried out over accusations of collaboration with the Iraqi security authorities or for attempting to flee areas under its control.

Iraqi forces and allied militias have found several mass graves in Islamic State-held areas since the Iraqi government, backed by a U.S.-led military coalition, launched a major security offensive in October 2016 to recapture the city of Mosul, Islamic State’s largest stronghold in Iraq.

Iraqi and coalition forces are also facing accusations of causing dozens of civilian deaths over the past month while targeting IS locations in Mosul.

32 civilians die in ISIS shelling in eastern Mosul

Mosul (IraqiNews.com) Thirty-two civilians, including women and children, died Monday when Islamic State militants shelled areas in eastern and northern Mosul, according to an Iraqi security officer.

Capt. Amir Watheq told Kurdish-run BasNews that IS improvised mortars targeted Muthanna, Baladiyat, Rifaq, al-Barid and al-Sukkar districts in eastern and northeastern Mosul, causing the casualties which ambluances rushed to hospitals and medical units in the region.

Civilian’s safety has been a heating matter since U.S.-backed operations launched in October to retake Iraq’s second largest city.

Though hundreds of IS fighters fled eastern Mosul when security forces recaptured the area in October, the militants continued to occasionally target civilians and security forces there with shelling and suicide bombings.

The dilemma persisted when another offensive launched in February to retake the western side of Mosul, a densely-populated and narrowly-structured region that is home to nearly 750.000 civilians. More than 200 civilians died in apparent strikes by the U.S.-led coalition last month. The Iraqi government and security command continue to reiterate that the deaths were caused by booby-traps planted by IS in civilians’ homes. The Pentagon said it was opening a probe into the allegations, but stressed it was not going to change combat tactics.

Iraq
Mosul Offensive News

3 Iranian militiamen die in western Mosul

Mosul (IraqiNews.com) Four paramilitary troopers fighting Islamic State alongside Iraqi troops were reportedly killed Monday in clashes with the group west of Mosul.

Kurdish-owned BasNews said four members of al-Hashd al-Shaabi (Popular Mobilization Units) were killed during clashes at Mahalabiya, a region which Iraqi forces and PMUs had previously isolated from Mosul.

PMUs have been fighting Islamic State west of Mosul and at other provinces witnessing an IS presence since they were formed upon an edict by Iraq’s top Shia clergy in 2014. The alliance of at least 60, mainly Shia, troops, won government recognition as a national force in November and enjoys ardent backing by Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi.

The militia had made remarkable victories since the campaign to retake Mosul launched in October, retaking several villages and severing IS supply routes from Syria to Mosul.

Iraqi forces recaptured eastern Mosul in January, and have been struggling to retake the western side of the city since mid February. Generals say they control at least 50 percent of land at that region, and, while admitting to the difficulty of battles, reiterated that IS had lost most members of its upper ranks.

40 ISIS militants die in fighting in western Mosul

Mosul (IraqiNews.com) Security troops were able to liberate strategic areas in western Mosul, a source from Federal Police said on Monday.

“Security forces launched fierce battles against the Islamic State fighters in western Mosul,” Lieutenant General Raed Shaker Jawdat, Commander of Federal Police service, told Bas News. “The clashes left 40 fighters, including snipers and suicide bombers, killed so far.”

Security services were able to free several regions including al-Nahrawan and western Yarmouk following fierce clashes with the IS militants, he added. “Battles are still ongoing at al-Matahen and al-Aghawat.”

Eastern Mosul was recaptured from IS in January, after a US-backed offensive was launched in October. A new offensive started in February to retake the west. The government troops have recently pushed deeper into the Old City, a densely-populated and -structured area which military officials view as central to the desired victory over IS militants

Battles in the west are believed to be much more difficult due to the density of residential areas and the high number of civilians.

Retaking Mosul could ruin the Islamic State’s self-styled “Islamic Caliphate” declared in 2014 when the group occupied several parts of the country.

[ALMASDARNEWS] Kurdish forces rubbed out four Islamic State

prisoners of war as one jihadist lunged for his suicide belt meters away from positions held by the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in northern Syria.

The newly emerged video occured on the battlefield near Tabqa Airbase in western Raqqa.

According to a SDF spokesperson, Kurdish troops did not sustain any casualties due to the last-second suicide kaboom. Meanwhile,

Africa Subsaharan
Boko Haram vows to invade Cameroon, behead President Biya
[DAILYPOST.NG] Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
has released new video threatening to behead Cameroon
...a long, narrow country that fills the space between Nigeria and Chad on the northeast, CAR to the southeast. Prior to incursions by Boko Haram nothing ever happened there...
President Paul Biya.

"I would behead you Paul Biya, it’s me that would behead you with the left hand, be ready," a Boko Haram commander said in French displaying Biya’s picture in a news magazine.

The man later drops the magazine and crushes Biya’s face with his leg, saying "I would behead you, imbecile, sluggard!".

He said he would decapitate Biya with the left hand, and called him a bigger Christian.

Biya is a catholic who regularly attends church service in Yaounde, the capital of Cameroon.

The terrorist warns residents of other parts of Cameroon that the Boko Haram members were on their way to invade the country.

He warned residents of Maroua, Cameroon’s far north capital, and those in the northern region capital of Garoua, and Ngaoundere that fighters were coming.

Shooting could be heard in the background of the 6-minute clip.

The Boko Haram commander shows shoes, helmets and other military items he claimed belonged to Cameroonian soldiers.

"These are their shoes they left behind, these are their helmets they left behind, these are their mats for prayers they left behind.

"They are fighting God and praying again? I do not understand why you’re still praying?" The Boko Haram terrorist continued in French.

"We are ready to arrive. We are on our way to Maroua, Garoua and Ngaoundere," he said, naming three capital in northern Cameroon.

"We are on our way to Ebolowa, Yaounde, we will arrive in God’s name," he added, mentioning the capital of President Paul Biya’s region in the South and the country’s capital itself in Yaounde.

The man displayed identity cards belonging to Cameroonian citizens.

One of the identity cards he placed closer to the camera, in his words, belongs to the minister of defence.

No fewer than 150 Cameroonian soldiers and coppers have been killed by Boko Haram while over 2000 civilians have bit the dust since 2014 in several attacks, including suicide kabooms.

In Nigeria, more than 30,000 people have been murdered by members of Boko Haram and over 2million civilians in Northeastern region displaced.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Reported Lod carjacking was in fact terror attack, Shin Bet says
[IsraelTimes] Security agency alleges stabbing last week was carried out by 19-year-old Paleostinian hoping for ’suicide by cop'.

The Shin Bet said on Monday that a stabbing in the central Israeli city of Lod last week, in which a Jewish woman was moderately hurt, was in fact a terror attack and not an attempted carjacking, as was initially reported.

The Paleostinian suspect, Malek Bassem Ismail Saada, 19, was picked up on Tuesday -- the day after the attack -- the security service said, but details of the case were not previously revealed to the public.

According to the Shin Bet, Saada carried out the attack "because he was tired of his life" and hoped he would be killed by police.

The Paleostinian teenager brought a knife with him to a parking garage in Lod just before 8:30 p.m. on Monday. When he spotted a woman with her hair covered, which identified her as a religious Jewish woman, he ran after her and -- shouting a sentence in Arabic -- stabbed her in the upper body, the Shin Bet said.

Saada expeditiously departed at a goodly pace, but was tossed in the calaboose
Maw! They're comin' to get me, Maw!
as he made his way back to his home in the southern West Bank town of Halhul.

According to the Israel Hayom daily, Saada stole the knife from the bakery in the city where he was employed illegally, as he hid not have a permit to work in Israel.

"This is another case of a Paleostinian deciding to carry out a terror attack as a solution to his personal problems," the Shin Bet said.
Another Times of Israel article adds:
Saada expeditiously departed at a goodly pace, but was jugged
Youse'll never take me alive coppers!... [BANG!]... Ow!... I quit!
as he made his way back to his home in the West Bank town of Halhul.

Shots fired at northern West Bank settlement; none injured

[IsraelTimes] Shots were fired at a settlement in the northern West Bank on Monday night, the army said.

No one was injured in the incident. The bullets struck an external wall of the Shavei Shomron settlement, northwest of Nablus, a military spokesperson said.

The Israel Defense Forces launched a search to find the person or people responsible for the attack, the army said.

On Saturday, a resident of the nearby Paleostinian town of Sebastia was rubbed out by Israeli troops after he stabbed three people in the Old City of Jerusalem. Ahmad Jazal, 17, stabbed two Jewish youths before fleeing, with police forces giving chase. He then stabbed one of the coppers before he was shot. The two civilians were released from the hospital on Saturday night.

Hamas arrests ‘Israeli agents’
[IsraelTimes] Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth",’s internal security forces arrest a group of "Israeli agents" as part of an ongoing operation to root out people working with the Jewish state, media close to Hamas’s military reports.
The death penalty awaits those accused in Hamasstan of aiding Israel...
"Hamas internal security forces are currently undertaking a large campaign to pursue Israeli agents, during which a group has been tossed in the calaboose
You have the right to remain silent...
and others are being pursued," the Paleostinian news site al-Majd, known as close with the Izz-a-Din al-Qassam Brigades, writes.

The campaign follows a declaration by Hamas that it would crack down on "collaborators" with Israel after the recent liquidation of one of its military leaders, Mazen Fuqha, which it blames on Israel.

Cyborgs at work: employees getting implanted with microchips
[SFgate] STOCKHOLM (AP) -- The syringe slides in between the thumb and index finger. Then, with a click, a microchip is injected in the employee's hand. Another "cyborg" is created.

What could pass for a dystopian vision of the workplace is almost routine at the Swedish startup hub Epicenter.

The company offers to implant its workers and startup members with microchips the size of grains of rice that function as swipe cards: to open doors, operate printers, or buy smoothies with a wave of the hand.

The injections have become so popular that workers at Epicenter hold parties for those willing to get implanted.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Trump rally stormed by Antifa demonstrators in Washington State, arrests made
[RT] A pro-Trump rally in Washington State resulted in multiple arrests after anti-fascist protesters stormed the event, with some throwing smoke bombs into the crowd.

The ’Rally for Trump and Freedom’ event at Esther Short Park in Vancouver, Washington, was open to local Trump supporters and Republican representatives, according to KATU news.

Despite the organizers' wishes, the event was also attended by anti-Trump demonstrators, many of whom referred to themselves as anti-fascist, or Antifa, protesters. Some of the protesters were dressed in all black and wearing masks to cover their faces. Many shouted slogans including "Black Lives Matter!" and "No Trump, No KKK, No Fascist USA!"

One group of protesters lit a Trump-Pence campaign flag on fire, according to the Columbian.

Scuffles broke out between the two sides, with some of the anti-Trump protesters tossing smoke bombs into the crowd.

At one point, anti-fascist protesters reportedly attempted to jump fencing that had been set up by police, leading to more scuffles which were broken up by officers.

Vancouver Police Lieutenant Greg Raquer told the Columbian that around 10 people had been locked away
Please don't kill me!
as of Sunday evening. They were detained for reasons including violating park rules and refusing to obey police orders. Another may have been arrested for assault, he said.

Meanwhile,
...back at the Council of Boskone, Helmuth had turned a paler shade of blue. Star-A-Star had struck again...
Vancouver Police Lieutenant Tom Ryan told KATU that officers had "made a handful of arrests" for fighting and throwing smoke bombs, but said he did not know exactly how many were arrested.

Ryan said that most of those arrested appeared to be anti-Trump demonstrators.
One would most earnestly hope so.
Footage of from RT’s Ruptly news agency shows police handcuffing the protesters and pushing some to the ground. One officer can be seen breaking up an argument between an anti-Trump demonstrator and a man wearing a ’Make America Great Again’ cap.

Are these people not even dimly aware that they themselves, in their beliefs, their tactics, and their fanatical, mindless hatred of the "Other", are the direct descendants of Hitler's SA and Mussolini's Blackshirts? They, not Trump or his supporters, are the fascists.

The Left must be stopped.

#6  March 4 was the spark - then March 25 Trump marches turned into a disaster for West Coast Antifa. April 15 is the next chance for Antifa to reverse their losing streak and it is not looking good for them. Stakes will be high as this is a standalone event I'm seeing folks coming in from the SoCal and even Canada for this. Antifa has responded by announcing opposition rally for same day - same location. The random factor possibly affecting Antifa turnout is the scheduled April 28 appearance at UC Berkeley by Ann Coulter. Recall it was the response to Milo at UCB that put Antifa in the spotlight, and it hasn't gone well for them since. My best guess is 100% chance of pepper spray precipitation as both sides are emphasizing full expectation of using it. I've got the required gear ready and will be on hand to observe.

CRPF man killed, 7 injured in militant attack
[Daily Excelsior] Militants today attacked a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) convoy at Pantha Chowk area in the outskirts of Srinagar killing one jawan and injuring 7 others including two civilians.

An officer of CRPF said that the paramilitary personnel were on their way from Jammu to Srinagar in TATA 407 and other buses for election duty. He said one of the vehicles was targeted by snuffies at Pantha Chowk, resulting in injuries to six CRPF men of 97 Battalion of CRPF. All the injured personnel were rushed to Army’s 92 Base Hospital at BB Cantonment.

Out of six, three CRPF men, who were critical, one succumbed identified as Bassapa resident of Karnataka to his injuries. The condition of the other two is critical.

The injured civilians that included one school girl identified as Zainab were also rushed to the hospital but both are stated to be stable. Zainab, 10 year old student of DPS was injured in the attack.

Soon after the attack, police and SOG, Army and CRPF arrived on the spot and launched searches to nab the attackers.

Security forces sealed the entire area and stopped movement of vehicles on the highway. However,

Despite the fact that it is banned, always an interesting concept in Pakistain, the organization remains an blatant tool and perhaps an arm of the ISI...
grabbed credit of the attack.

Today’s attack is the third of its kind in Srinagar in three days. On Saturday, three army men were maimed when snuffies attacked their convoy at JVC Bemina. One policeman was killed and 14 others were maimed at Nowhatta last evening when snuffies hurled a grenade on police and CRPF.

Speaking to news hounds today at the wreath laying ceremony of police man killed in grenade attack at Nowhatta last evening, Director General of Police, S P Vaid said that security forces will devise a strategy to deal with showering of bullets and hurling of grenades at them behind the stone pelting mob.

"Our jawans have been facing bullets from behind the pelting mob. Grenade is also part of that greater design. We will devise strategy to deal with it. And I am sure with our experience we will handle it", he said.

The police chief said that such attacks that took place last year as well will only bring death and destruction. "Last year when situation was bad, similar attack occurred that time as well. Such attacks only result in death and destruction and bloodshed and nothing else is achieved by them. My heart goes out to the family which has lost their dear one", he said.

Vaid said that presence of mobile phones in jail is a security breach. "The mobile phones were recovered after a search. It is a security breach. We have taken them into custody and they (inmates) will face action", he said.

He said that the cyber forensic team will fully investigate and will check all the numbers and then action will be taken.

3 Iraqi security elements die in bombing near Fallujah

Fallujah (IraqiNews.com) Up to three Iraqi security members died and four others were wounded Monday when suicide bombers from the Islamic State attempted to enter Anbar’s city of Fallujah with a booby-trapped vehicle.

AlQurtas News website said the car was stopped at Fallujah’s western entrance before making it to the city, but exploded to cause the security casualties. But Anadolu Agency quoted Col. Waleed al-Dleimi, from the Iraqi army, putting the death toll at three.

However, making a statement on the incident, Interior Ministry spokesperson Saad Maan made no mention of the casualties among security members, only stating that the vehicle was brought under control and detonated after its driver was arrested.

Iraqi security forces, backed by a U.S.-led international military coalition and paramilitary troops, have been battling IS since the group came to the scene in Iraq in 2014 to proclaim an “Islamic Caliphate”.

Islamic State has held several areas in western Anbar since 2014, and has sustained occasional strikes by Iraqi and coalition fighter jets. Strikes on Sunday in Qaim, a major IS stronghold, left 40 fighters dead.

The Iraqi government is expected to aim at Anbar and other IS pockets once it is done eliminating the group from Mosul, the group’s biggest stronghold where a security campaign has been running since October to retake the city.

Several ISIS Turbans die in airstrikes near Qaim

Qaim (IraqiNews.com) Iraqi Ministry of Defense’s War Media Cell announced, on Monday, destroying three caches of weapons, as well as killing a number of the Islamic State militants by air strikes carried out by Iraqi Sukhoi aircraft, west of Anbar.

The cell informed that based on accurate intelligence information, Iraqi Sukhoi aircraft carried out several air strikes in Qaim District, west of Anbar.

The air strikes resulted in the destruction of three caches of weapons and explosives, as well as killing a number of the Islamic State militants in the area of Jarijm in the district, the cell added.

The Islamic State group is still controlling Anah, Rawah and Qaim, in Anbar Province, while security forces are preparing to launch an offensive to retake these cities.
