ISIS Calls On Jihadists To Buy Weapons At Gun Shows
[Homeland Security] ISIS has called on jihadists to find ways of buying and acquiring firearms to wage holy war on Western infidels in the article, Just Terror Tactics, published in the 9th issue of ISIS's magazine, Rumiyah, released Thursday. The report said, "The acquisition of firearms can be very simple, depending on one’s geographical location."

The last full page of the article instructs lone wolves how to use trucks in an attack. Outdoor markets and rallies, parades and congested streets are recommended as points of attack.

"The 9th issue of Rumiyah highlights once again that one of the terror organization’s continued goal is to inspire lone wolf actors in the West, which has proven to be successful, MEMRI Executive Director Steven Stalinsky told Homeland Security Today. "An interesting note about the most recent edition and its article, Just Terror Tactics, which suggests very specific targets, shows that Westerners, including an increasing number of Americans, are not only supporting groups such as ISIS and Al Qaeda ‐ but that they continue to help and lead in the group’s propaganda efforts."

New POTUS Library to be in Chicago
Unexpectedly!
[BusinessInsider]. By 2021, Chicago will be the home of the 44th presidential library, built in honor of former US President Barack Obama. Called the Obama Presidential Center, it will feature a library, museum, auditorium, restaurant, and public park.
Probably not a chicken and waffles restaurant.
The $500 million center will be designed by local firm Tod Williams Billie Tsien Architects. The company won the commission out of 140 entries in 2016.

On May 3, former President Obama and former first lady Michelle Obama unveiled the design, including a 3D model, at the South Shore Cultural Center in Chicago. Mayor Rahm Emanuel, community leaders, and hundreds of Chicago residents attended.

The Obama Presidential Center will be built on Chicago’s South Side. Located 10 miles from downtown, it will be the first presidential library to be built in an urban environment.
I'm sure there will be some other 'firsts'. Unexpectedly!

Thomas Sowell: Fake news - ‘Tax cuts for the rich'
[The Citizen] One of the painful realities of our times is how long a political lie can survive, even after having been disproved years ago, or even generations ago.

A classic example is the phrase "tax cuts for the rich," which is loudly proclaimed by opponents, whenever there is a proposal to reduce tax rates. The current proposal to reduce federal tax rates has revived this phrase, which was disproved by facts, as far back as the 1920s -- and by now should be called "tax lies for the gullible."

How is the claim of "tax cuts for the rich" false? Let me count the ways. More important, you can easily check out the facts for yourself with a simple visit to your local public library or, for those more computer-minded, on the Internet.

One of the key arguments of those who oppose what they call "tax cuts for the rich" is that the Reagan administration tax cuts led to huge federal government deficits, contrary to "supply side economics" which said that lower tax rates would lead to higher tax revenues.

#2  The reason the rich generally end up paying less taxes is because they are the only ones who pay taxes anymore.

And the reason lower taxes end up increasing debt is because the federal government needs to reduce scope and increase efficiency.

China-Japan-Koreas
North Korea Accuses CIA Of Plotting A "Biochemical Attack" Against Kim Jong-Un
[Zero Hedge] In the latest verbal fireworks involving the Pacific Rim's most unstable nation, overnight North Korea accused the CIA and the South Korea National Intelligence service of supporting a terrorist cell plotting to kill its "supreme leadership" with a bio-chemical weapon and said such a "pipe-dream" could never succeed.
I believe someone said the same thing about indoor plumbing.
According to AFP, the North's Ministry of State Security released a statement saying "the last-ditch effort" of U.S. "imperialists" and the South had gone "beyond the limits."

"The Central Intelligence Agency of the US and the National Intelligence Service (NIS) of south Korea, hotbed of evils in the world, hatched a vicious plot to hurt the supreme leadership of the DPRK and those acts have been put into the extremely serious phase of implementation after crossing the threshold of the DPRK," the North’s KCNA news agency quoted the statement as saying adding that "They hatched a plot of letting human scum Kim commit bomb terrorism targeting the supreme leadership during events at the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun and at military parade and public procession after his return home."

"A hideous terrorists’ group, which the CIA and the NIS infiltrated into the DPRK on the basis of covert and meticulous preparations to commit state sponsored terrorism against the supreme leadership of the DPRK by use of biochemical substance, has been recently detected."

In taking a page right out of the Turkish "shadow government" playbook, North Korea said the cell had "infiltrated" North Korea but the Ministry of State Security will "ferret out and mercilessly destroy to the last one the terrorists of the US CIA," the local ministry said as cited by the state’s KCNA news agency. Pyongyang identified one of the people involved in the "vicious plot" as "Kim," a timber worker who was allegedly bribed by the CIA while working in Russia in June 2014.

Concealed Carry Saves Lives in Texas
[MSN] A "good Samaritan" with a gun killed an active shooter who may have been gearing up for a deadly rampage at a Texas sports bar Wednesday night, police said.

An armed "good Samaritan" - as the Arlington Police labeled him but NBC News clearly doesn't think so - happened to be eating at the restaurant with his wife. A concealed carry permit holder, he told her to get down on the ground and then shot Jones in the back.

"I don't think the shooter even knew where the rounds were coming from because he started shooting at the front door," Arlington Police Lieutenant Chris Cook said, who described the scene as "chaotic."

Use of force and firearms expert Emanuel Kapelsohn told NBC News that, from his understanding, the man who took down the shooter reacted appropriately.

"I think it's to be applauded," he said. "Not everybody in the world ought to own a gun. Not everybody in the world ought to carry a gun. Not everyone in the world ought to engage an armed criminal where innocent people could be potentially injured."

"But this good Samaritan obviously had the ability to do what he did," Kapelsohn added. "Who knows how many people would be dead if he had not acted?"
I heard this on the radio yesterday morning, but was surprised to see it make the major media.

No date or specific location provided, but from the signage, the area appears to be Maghrebin. From Wiki - Maghrebis in France or French Maghrebis are immigrants from Maghreb countries (mainly Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia) in France. The term may also refer to French-born persons who have Maghrebi parents or who have Maghrebi ancestral background. The term includes all ethnicities from the Maghreb living in France (Arabs and Berbers).

He knows he has just hit the legal damages lotto and is trying to mentally select the color and optional equipment for he and his wife's matching 2018 Carreras and Ivy League colleges for the boys. It really is quite a lot to think about on such short notice.

Yes, but this unhappy event appears to have taken place at a layover or stop, with Delta's full concurrence for the passenger switch at the flight's point of origin.

"What blew me away was when they said, if you don't give the seat up, you're going to jail, your wife is going to jail, and they're gonna take your kids away," he told NBC4 Wednesday.

Was the employee representing himself/herself as a police officer? If so, that is an offence.

Southwest says they are not over-booking their flights. Of course, they don't go everywhere.

North Korea Warns China Of "Grave Consequences"
[Telegraph] Beijing has shown increasing concern towards Pyongyang’s nuclear weapons programme over fears that it is prompting the United States, Japan and South Korea to build up their militaries in the region.

The North’s state-run Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) took aim at "a string of absurd and reckless remarks" from Chinese media towards the regime’s nuclear ambitions.

"The DPRK will never beg for the maintenance of friendship with China, risking its nuclear program which is as precious as its own life, no matter how valuable the friendship is," the hard-hitting commentary said, referring to the country’s official name.

"China should no longer try to test the limits of the DPRK's patience... (and) had better ponder over the grave consequences to be entailed by its reckless act of chopping down the pillar of the DPRK-China relations."

BLUF: [Breitbart] "In the final analysis, what happened was that Comey has repeatedly and improperly protected Hillary Clinton and her top people from the consequences of their criminal behavior by coloring the law, misstating the law, and focusing on everything but the elephant in the living room: why didn’t he prosecute her? Why didn’t he recommend a prosecution? Why was immunity granted to all of these individuals? Loretta Lynch Promised Hillary's Email Investigation Wouldn't "Go Too Far"
[Independent Sentinel] The New York Times found a troubling email last month that indicated Loretta Lynch promised she would make sure the investigation of Hillary Clinton "didn’t go too far". Today’s testimony added more ammunition to the bombshell exposé, implicating James Comey and the FBI.

The email was found among those from Democrat operatives hacked by the Russians. The email reportedly provided assurances that Attorney General Lynch would protect Secretary Clinton by making sure the FBI investigation "didn’t go too far".

Grassley asked Comey during testimony on Capitol Hill today before the Senate Judiciary Committee, "How and when did you first learn of this document, also who sent it and who received it?"

Comey replied: "That’s not a question I can answer in this forum", Mr. Chairman, "cause it would call for a classified response. I have briefed leadership of the intelligence committees on that particular issue, but I can’t talk about it here."

Sadek Ghariani says the Serraj-Hafter meeting is a conspiracy
[Libya Herald] Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
’s Dar al-Ifta head Sheikh Sadek Ghariani has branded the Abu Dhabi meeting between Faiez Serraj and Khalifa Hafter as a conspiracy against the 17 February Revolution.

Ghariani used his weekly programme on his Tanasuh satellite TV channel to call for all Libyans to take to the streets in protest .

He said the Presidency Council head was seeking a compromise while Khalifa Hafter’s "militias" were still killing civilians in Benghazi and in the south of the country.

The Benghazi Revolutionaries’ Shoura Council, which has received the blessing of Ghariani, was even more forthright in a statement it put out today. Describing Hafter as "an infidel tyrant" it called on all "Benghazi revolutionaries" to join it in its fight against him.

, the daughter of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, triggered a new controversy on Tuesday when she took to social media to attack the authenticity of the Panama Papers and the journalists who exposed them.

Her tweets came as the Supreme Court announced the formation of a three-member bench to monitor progress on the investigation it had ordered in its April 20 verdict, where it had also ordered the constitution of a joint investigation team (JIT) consisting of personnel from various military and civil investigative agencies.

In a series of tweets, sent out after the prime minister’s address in Layyah, Ms Sharif dismissed the Panama Papers as "crap". She said the leaks had been "trashed in the rest of the world", adding: "Those relying on it to bring down [Nawaz Sharif will] bite the dust Insha’Allah".

Political assistant to tribal area Rajanpur, Imran Munir, told Dawn that the room of the farmhouse had been blown up by unidentified Lions of Islam and it was located at least 500 metres from a Rangers checkpost near the provincial boundary.

Munir further said that it was a remote-controlled kaboom and the visitors, who were still in their vehicles, remained unhurt. Punjab

Venezuela police fire tear gas at protest of thousands
[DAWN] Venezuelan police fired tear gas and protesters hurled petrol bombs as thousands rallied on Wednesday in anger at President Nicolas Maduro’s plan to rewrite the constitution. They were the latest festivities in more than a month of unrest sparked by Venezuela’s political and economic crisis.

Clouds of grey smoke from tear gas canisters filled the air as police with riot shields and trucks advanced along a major avenue in the east of the capital. Protesters at the head of the crowd hurled stones and Molotov cocktails and officers fired tear gas, rubber bullets and water cannon to push them back.

Protesters were inflamed above all by President Nicolas Maduro’s latest maneuver against opposition efforts to remove him from power. The socialist president launched procedures with the electoral council to convene a "constituent assembly" to rewrite the constitution. His centre-right opponents said that was a way of dodging elections in order to cling to power.

They blame Maduro for an economic crisis that has led to shortages of food, medicine and basic goods in the oil-rich South American nation. Maduro says the crisis is the result of a US-backed capitalist conspiracy.

Syrian Democratic Forces deny evacuation deal with ISIS
[ARA] The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) on Thursday denied reports about ISIS handing over Tabqa city and Tabqa Dam to the SDF after an evacuation deal.

According to the SDF, there are still festivities in three neighbourhoods of Tabqa.

"All the rumors going around that we have made a ’deal’ with ISIS [ISIS] here in Tabqa are NOT true," Jesper Söder, a Swedish SDF member, told ARA News.

The Official Spokesperson for the SDF-led Raqqa Operations Room, Jihan Sheikh Ahmed, said that the fighting is ongoing between ISIS and the SDF, despite ISIS attempts to break the SDF-led siege on them in Tabqa by attacking the SDF in Shaddadi in Hasakah province and near Raqqa city.

"We confirm that our goal is clear, which is fighting terrorism and eliminate it wherever it is, and clear humanity from it’s evil," she said.

Grl ISIS vigilante found dead in Mosul

Mosul (IraqiNews.com) A senior female member of the Islamic State’s vigilantism squads have been found dead west of Mosul, according to local sources.

Alsumaria News quoted the sources saying that the woman, nicknamed Um Qays, a senior official at the group’s Hisbah (religious vigilantes) division, was found dead with marks of gunshots in the chest at an unfinished house on the outskirts of Tal Afar, a major Islamic State stronghold.

The source explained that Um Qays was in charge of intelligence cells as as well as “women police” forces within the group.

Since taking over large areas of Iraq in 2014, Islamic State has employed vigilantism teams to observe commitment to its extreme religious rules among civilians under their control.

Several senior IS leaders have been reportedly killed in mysterious circumstances at Tal Afar over the past few weeks as U.S.-backed Iraqi forces launched an offensive in October to retake Mosul. The group has lost dozens of leaders since then, with the coalition commanders saying its fighters in Mosul shrunk to less than 1000. Iraqi commander say the group now holds less than seven percent of Iraqi territories, and the campaign currently presses on the group in the western side of the city.

Fears of Trump spur near-record cash transfers from US to Mexico
[FOX] With fears the Trump administration will tax or block south of the border cash transfers, remittances sent to Mexico from the United States jumped 15 percent in March from the same period last year – marking one of the largest cash transfers from Mexicans living north of the border to friends and family back home.

Mexico's central bank, Banxico, reported that around $2.5 billion in cash transfers were sent to the country from the U.S. last month, compared to $2.2 billion a year earlier -- and making March the third largest in U.S.-Mexico remittance history. In October 2008, individuals sent to Mexico $2.6 billion and in May 2006 $2.5 billion went to the country.

"This is due to uncertainty about the measures that Trump has announced, such as preventing any undocumented people from sending money abroad or applying a remittance tax of up to 5 percent,” Juan José Li Ng, a senior economist at BBVA Bancomer, told Reuters.
Lots of discussion about a federal gasoline tax hike. Apparently no discussion about a remittance on money transfers to the Mexicans. Our fine representatives at work in Washington.

More Dems needed for Ossoff runoff - Ga. Fed Judge Re-Opens Voter Registration
[The Hill] A federal judge has temporarily reopened voter registration Thursday, ahead of a congressional runoff election in Georgia's 6th district.

According to a report by AJC.com, the decision was made by U.S. District Judge Timothy Batten as a part of a larger lawsuit that examined whether Georgia violated federal law by reducing the amount of time state residents had to register to vote.

Voter registration was closed on March 20, despite the runoff contest being scheduled for the end of June.

The lawsuit was filed by The Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, which represents multiple civil rights and voting rights organizations. It argued that the registration cutoff was premature, the AJC reported, and that the state residents should have been allowed to register for two more months.

Focus has been heavy on the race in recent months, with the top-two jungle primary vote-getters -- Democrat Jon Ossoff and Republican Karen Handel -- set to face off on June 20.

Ossoff came two points short of capturing the majority vote required to win the election outright.

Handel, who came second in the preliminary contest, now enjoys full GOP, support including the direct backing of President Trump and his administration.

Batten ruled that the voter registration for the final stage of the runoff election will be open until May 21.

Iraqi forces prepare clearing operation in Anbar

Anbar (IraqiNews.com) A limited military offensive launched Thursday to clear Anbar’s western desert areas from Islamic State militants, according to the province’s army leaders.

Maj. Gen. Mahmoud al-Falahi was quoted by Alsumaria News saying that army commando and police forces sat on a military offensive to purge the desert area which falls 160 kilometers to the west of Ramadi. The operation targets a space of 10 kilometers of that area.

Another operation is planned sooner for the desert area around the city of al-Rutba (310 Km west of Ramadi), which will be backed by tribal troops, according to Falahi.

Islamic State militants have held Anbar’s western towns of Annah, Qaim and Anbar since 2014. Fighter jets from the Iraqi army and the allied U.S.-led coalition have also regularly pounded IS locations in the province. Anbar’s military command previously launched a brief assault early January that managed to recapture some western villages before stopping again.

Local officials believe Islamic State is holding thousands of civilians at its western strongholds to use them as human shields against any future security offensive.

The Iraqi government and army commanders say they will aim at IS havens in Anbar once it is finished with eliminating the group from Mosul, its biggest bastion in Iraq.

IS has escalated its attacks against army and paramilitary forces in the province over the past few months, leaving several personnel dead.

Militants force Misrata mayor to resign; a decision he later retracted
[Libya Herald] The Mayor of Misrata was forced to resign last night by protestors who forced their way into a building where he was having a meeting. He subsequently announced that the resignation was not effective because he had been forced to act under duress and that he would continue in his role as per usual.

Mohammed Eshtewi was holding a meeting with Bunyan Marsous

representatives and Sirte mayor Mukhtar al-Madani when protestors stormed the building at around 8 pm last night.

Unconfirmed reports say gunshots were fired and Eshtewi released a statement on a scrappy piece of paper saying he had resigned.

He was shouted at and pushed and the protestors refused to let him out, although no weapon was ever directly aimed at him

"I had no other choice. I wanted to preserve the safety of those present," he later insisted.

Eshtewi said his resignation letter meant nothing and asked everyone to ignore it.

"I assure you that I will continue in my job as normal," he added.

The meeting was held at the Misrata Housing Foundation because the opposition has blocked the municipal building.

Last month, protestors who want to force out the elected mayor and councillors and replace them with a team supporting the city’s military council and hardliners opposed to both Khalifa Hafter and the Presidency Council bricked up the entrance to the municipal council building. A subsequent court order to remove the wall has not been executed; when council workers arrived to knock it down, they were prevented by protestors.

Syrian opposition says safe zones plan threatens to divide nation
[ARA] Syria’s armed opposition said on Thursday it could not accept creating safe zones in Syria because it threatens the country’s territorial integrity and said it would also not recognize Iran as a guarantor of the peace plan.

Russia, The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
and Iran signed on Thursday a memorandum on creating safe zones in Syria, while the delegation of the armed Syrian opposition walked out and shouted angrily after a new round of peace talks held in the Kazakh capital Astana.

Russia, Turkey and Iran act as guarantors of the Astana grinding of the peace processor.

"We want Syria to maintain its integrity," opposition delegate Osama Abu Zaid said after the three guarantor states, Russia, Turkey and Iran signed a memorandum on creating safe zones in Syria at peace talks held in the Kazakh capital Astana.

"We are against the division of Syria. As for the agreements, we are not a party to that agreement and of course we will never be in favor (of it) as long as Iran is called a guarantor state."

Abu Zaid also said that there is "a huge gap" between Russia’s promises and actions.

Meanwhile,
...back at the palazzo, Count Guido had been cornered by the banditti...
the Kazakh Foreign Minister Kairat Abdrakhmanov said that next Syria peace talks would be held in Astana in mid-July.

Violence erupts in Hub as police refuse to hand Hindu man suspected of blasphemy over to enraged mob
[DAWN] Violence erupted in Lasbela district's Hub area after police refused to hand over a Hindu man suspected of blasphemy to an angry mob, DawnNews reported, with locals resorting to pelting stones at police when their demands were not met.

Prakash Kumar, a local business owner, was suspected of sharing a picture containing allegedly blasphemous content on WhatsApp, Hub police officials said.

A First Information Report was registered against Kumar on the complaint of various community members under Sections 295-A and 295-C of Pakistain's blasphemy law. The suspect was shifted to Gaddani Central Jail.

An hours-long protest outside the Hub city cop shoppe turned violent, with protesters pelting stones at police, after law enforcement officials refused the protesters' demand that police hand over the Hindu man to the community so they could administer justice themselves and 'punish' Kumar.

Hub City police dispersed the crowd of enraged protesters through tear gas shelling and gun sex, and took 20 protesters into custody.

Search operations were underway to arrest those suspected of inciting the mob to violence, police said.

Hub Circle Deputy Sub-Inspector Police Jan Mohammad Khosa as well as Police Constable Mukhtiar Ahmed, and Additional Deputy Commissioner Tariq Javed Mengal were maimed in the violence, along with an Edhi rescue official and a child.

The child later departed this vale of tears, as he had received bullet wounds which turned fatal. The dear departed boy is yet to be identified.

Shops owned by members of the Hindu community were shut down and all roads connecting Sindh to Balochistan
...the Pak province bordering Kandahar and Uruzgun provinces in Afghanistan and Sistan Baluchistan in Iran. Its native Baloch propulation is being displaced by Pashtuns and Punjabis and they aren't happy about it...
via Hub were closed for operations until further notice.

Bangladesh
Hefazat: Don’t cover Lady Justice, remove it
[Dhaka Tribune] Salafist group Hefajat-e-Islam
...a madrassa-based false nose and mustache of the Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, formed in 2010 to protest against secular education. In 2011 demonstrated violentyly against women's rights and in 2013 held large rallies demanding capital punishment of Shahbag Square protesters and banning women working outside the home...
has rejected the idea of covering the Lady Justice statue erected on the Supreme Court premises during prayer times, calling the idea "ridiculous."

"Covering the statue or not covering it is the same thing," Hefazat Secretary General Junaid Babunagari said in a statement, renewing their demand to install a replica of the Qur’an instead.

Jamaat-e-Islami
...The Islamic Society, founded in 1941 in Lahore by Maulana Sayyid Abul Ala Maududi, aka The Great Apostosizer. The Jamaat opposed the independence of Bangladesh but has operated an independent branch there since 1975. It maintains close ties with international Mohammedan groups such as the Moslem Brotherhood. the Taliban, and al-Qaeda. The Jamaat's objectives are the establishment of a pure Islamic state, governed by Sharia law. It is distinguished by its xenophobia, and its opposition to Westernization, capitalism, socialism, secularism, and liberalist social mores...
made the same demand after the prime minister said that suggested that it be covered during prayers at the adjacent National Eidgah.

In the statement issued Wednesday, Babunagari argued that a Greek goddess had nothing in common with Bangladesh’s culture and heritage, and hoped that the prime minister would understand the pulse of the people and remove it.

Hefazat chief Shafi had claimed that "ideological aggression" was going on against Islam and Bangladesh’s Moslems "in the name of secularism."

Islami Andolon Bangladesh chief Mufti Rezaul Karim, better known as Charmonai Pir, had previously warned of bloodshed if the sculpture was not removed.

Hardline Islamist groups have been seeking the statue’s removal for several months now. Hefazat, who dubbed the statue an "anti-Islamic idol," approached the prime minister and the chief justice with their demand on February 14.

A group of religious scholars, including Hefazat chief Shah Ahmad Shafi, raised the demand at a meeting with Prime Minister the loathesome Sheikh Hasina
...Bangla dynastic politician and current Prime Minister of Bangladesh. She has been the President of the Bangla Awami League since the Lower Paleolithic. She is the eldest of five children of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the founding father of Bangla. Her party defeated the BNP-led Four-Party Alliance in the 2008 parliamentary elections. She has once before held the office, from 1996 to 2001, when she was defeated in a landslide. She and the head of the BNP, Khaleda Zia show such blind animosity toward each other that they are known as the Battling Begums..
at the Ganabhaban on April 11. Hasina agreed to the demand partially on that day, saying she did not like the Greek statue.

The premier later said that the statue should be shifted to a different spot inside the court premises, and hoped that the chief justice would consider the matter. Several ministers and senior Awami League leaders also told the media that the chief justice was the person to take the decision.

Soon after the prime minister’s comments, leaders of Hefazat and other Islamist parties that eye Shariah law in the country started demanding removal of all statues of living beings across the country. Even al-Qaeda’s Bangladesh supported Hefazat on the issue.

On October 15, 2008, Islamists knocked down the statue of Lalon Shah being erected in front of the Dhaka airport, and damaged the Balaka (crane) statue in Dilkusha area on November 29 the same year.

Caribbean-Latin America
Eight Brazilians sentenced for plotting jihadist attacks ahead of Rio 2016 Olympics
[DW] A Brazil judge has sentenced eight men to up to 15 years for plotting a jihadist attack on the 2016 Rio Olympics. Authorities described the group as an "amateur" and downplayed any ties to the so-called "Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
The eight Brazilian men were found guilty on Thursday of recruiting and promoting terrorism, and handed sentences of between five and 15 years

In his sentencing, Judge Marcos Josegrei da Silva said the men "exulted in and celebrated terrorist acts carried out around the world, publishing videos of executions by the Islamic State (group) and instructions on how to swear loyalty to the group's leader."

The 100-page sentence included images of the men extolling the Islamic State group online and posing in front of a flag with the words "Islamic State" scrawled on it in Arabic.

The leader in question according to Brazilian authorities was 33-year-old Leonid El Kadrem, who received the longest sentence of 15 years and 10 months.

'Amateur cell'
According to prosecutors, the group's communications focused between mid-March and July 21 last year, when the first series of arrests were announced just weeks before the start of the Games as part of an operation dubbed "Hashtag."

Brazil's then-justice minister Alexandre Moraes said the group had pledged their allegiance to the so-called "Islamic State" jihadist group but downplayed any links. "Some of them made an oath of loyalty by Internet to the Islamic State, but there was no personal contact by this group with Islamic State by WhatsApp," he said, adding that the group was "an absolutely amateur cell" and "disorganized."

The closest the group got to committing a concrete terrorist act was trying to buy black market weapons from a supplier in neighboring Paraguay. The group's members reportedly also encouraged each other to begin martial arts training.

With a reputation for being a hotbed for armed crime, authorities deployed some 85,000 coppers and military troops around Rio de Janeiro's Olympic venues.

New anti-terror laws
Thursday's ruling marked the first time that a highly debated new Brazilian anti-terror law formed the basis of a legal ruling.

Last year, Brazil's Congress passed the new law that widened the scope of what could be deemed a terror act. The new legislation dictates that anyone found guilty of "advocating terrorism" could face up to eight years in prison, and 10 to years for "joining terrorist organizations."

However,
some people cause happiness wherever they go; others whenever they go...
the new law drew condemnation from rights groups for failing to define "terrorism" or "terrorist." Rights advocates warned that its broad language could lead to a crackdown against freedom of speech.

#11  IMO, this is a structural shift in the oil market. And oil will settle toward the cost of fracked oil, which I understand is dropping all the time.

If I were the Saudis, I'd be thinking about kicking off a war in the Gulf. Saudi and the Emirates can get most of their oil to market via pipelines that bypass the Gulf. Shiia Iran and Iraq can't.

Every time the Soddy's do something to prop up the cost of their oil, it encourages more oil production in the US and down go the prices again.

The oil price the KSA needs, given their vast horde of princes and Ferraris is around $100 a barrel, US shale oil is wildly profitable right now at $47 a barrel so the Soddy's are screwed.

Couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of folks. Do you suppose this means they will cut down on the funding to all of those Wahabi fanatics they've been financing all these years? AND the Moslem Brotherhood?

Girls Arrested, Teachers Hurt In School Melee
[THESMOKINGGUN] Eight teachers were maimed yesterday trying to break up a high school brawl involving a quartet of female pugilists who are now facing multiple criminal charges in connection with the 7:30 AM melee.

The fight at Cheltenham High School in Wyncote, a Philadelphia suburb, began as students were headed to their first period classes. As seen in the above video, after two girls began throwing punches at each other, two more students joined the fray.

The fight, recorded by several onlookers, prompted one student to offer color commentary on the indignity suffered by one combatant: "Oh, shit! Her wig came off!"

When a substitute teacher sought to intercede, she apparently caught an overhand right (or elbow) intended for an opponent. The teacher crumpled to the floor with a concussion.

the four students on a variety of charges, including assault and reckless endangerment. Three of the girls were charged as juveniles, while Amber Lewis, 18, was charged as an adult. Lewis is locked up in the Montgomery County jail in lieu of $10,000 bond. Two of the defendants are sisters.

In a letter to parents, Ray McFall, principal of the 1500-student school, referred to the initial fight as a "physical altercation," adding that administrators would not tolerate fighting or "the filming of fights." McFall added that, "Both behaviors are beneath us and reflect poorly on our larger population."

Iraq
Mosul Offensive News

New offensive begins in western Mosul

(IraqiNews.com/ Reuters)Iraqi forces recaptured two locations in western Mosul on Thursday as they moved from a new direction targeting Islamic State militants at the Old City area.

Federal Police chief Shaker Jawdat said in press statements were advancing from the northwestern axis towards Haramat area, and had recaptured Hassouna village and the “Nineveh gas lab”.

Iraq’s armed forces opened a new front against Islamic State in Mosul on Thursday, advancing on the militants’ enclave from the northwest, a military commander had told Reuters.

The army’s 9th Armoured Division and the Rapid Response units of the Interior Ministry were headed towards the city, he said.

The attack would help the elite Counter-Terrorism Service (CTS) and Interior Ministry Federal Police troops who were painstakingly advancing from the south, he said.

A U.S.-led international coalition is providing key air and ground support to the offensive on Mosul, Islamic State’s de facto capital in Iraq, which started in October.

The militants are now besieged in the northwestern corner of Mosul which includes the historic Old City centre and the Grand al-Nuri Mosque.

It was from the pulpit of this mosque nearly three years ago that Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi declared a “caliphate” that also spanned parts of Syria.

Earlier this week, Asharq al-Awsat quoted an army colonel saying the new front opens from the recaptured region of Badush, with the aim of charging at the districts of 17 Tamuz (July 17th), Harmat, Mesherfa and Hawi al-Kanisa in order to accelerate the liberation of the city.

Iraqi army forces, backed by a U.S.-led coalition and paramilitary troops, recaptured eastern Mosul from Islamic State members in January after three months of fighting. A complementary offensive launched in February to retake the western region.

Iraqi generals say they control 70 percent of the western side of Mosul, and that the total of territory held by IS in Iraq is less than seven percent.

ISIS bomber, 3 others die in Mosul

Mosul (IraqiNews.com) Islamic State booby-trapping expert was killed along with three of his aides due to a blast inside a workshop in Tal Afar town, west of Mosul, a local source in Nineveh said.

“Abu Yusuf al-Halabi, a prominent expert of vehicles booby-trapping in Tal Afar, was killed along with three of his aides due to an explosion of a car while booby-trapping it inside a workshop,” the source told AlSumaria News on Thursday.

The source, who preferred anonymity, added that “al-Halabi was a Syrian national in his forties. He was called as ‘al-mohandis’ [Arabic for ‘the engineer’]”

Earlier this week, another militant, called abu-Yusuf, in charge of one of the group’s defense lines, was killed by a sniper in the vicinity of Tal Afar.

Tal Afar is one of the important strongholds still held by IS in Nineveh.

The group has sustained severe losses in personnel and ground since an offensive was launched in mid October to retake Mosul, the second-largest Iraqi city and the militants’ last urban stronghold in the country.

The number of Islamic State fighters remaining in Mosul was recently estimated by Iraqi troops at 200 to 300, mostly foreigners, down from nearly 6,000 when the offensive started.

8 ISIS operatives smoked in northwestern Mosul

Mosul (IraqiNews.com) An Islamic State leader and seven others were killed during battles in the northwest of Mosul, according to Federal Police.

“Troops resumed its advance in the northwest of Mosul to reach the bank of the river [Tigris] and besiege al-Jisr al-Khamis region, north of the Old City,” Lt.Gen. Shaker Jawdat said in statements on Thursday.

“Eight IS members, including a leader called Abu Huthaifa al-Hadidi, in charge of al-Zanjili and Ras al-Jadda regions, were killed,” he added.

In previous statements on Thursday, Jawdat said the troops were advancing from the northwestern axis towards Haramat area, and had recaptured Hassouna village and the “Nineveh gas lab”.

A military commander told Reuters earlier that armed forces opened a new front against Islamic State in Mosul on Thursday, advancing on the militants’ enclave from the northwest.

The militants are now besieged in the northwestern corner of Mosul embracing the historic Old City centre and the Grand al-Nuri Mosque, from which the group’s supreme leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi gave a famous sermon in 2014 declaring the establishment of the ‘caliphate’ in Iraq and Syria.

Eastern Mosul was recaptured in January after three months of battles. A major offensive was launched in February to retake the western flank.

11 die in Mosul airstrikes

Mosul (IraqiNews.com) Eleven civilians including women and children, died Thursday in strikes by fighter jets at a district in Mosul targeted by a new offensive by the U.S.-backed Iraqi troops’ operations against the Islamic State.

Shafaaq news website quoted local sources saying that the deaths occurred when fighter jets, believed to be from the U.S.-led coalition at Hawi al-Kanisa, northwest of Mosul. The district is on the list of targets for Iraqi troops as operations take a new axis towards the strategic, IS-held Old City district.

The Iraqi command has reiterated it heeded civilians’ safety since it launched operations in October to retake Mosul from IS militants, accusing the group of fabricating reports about civilian casualties and causing the deaths itself. But the Pentagon said in March it was going to investigate reports that coalition jets killed more than 200 people in western Mosul’s al-Jadida district.

Iraqi government troops, backed by coalition fighter jets and ground paramilitary forces, recaptured eastern Mosul in January after three months of fighting, and have been sweeping through the western region since mid February, claiming to have retaken 70 percent of territory from militants.

According to the Iraqi government, the war in Mosul has displaced at last 600.000 civilians since October.

Iraqi forces capture more locations in western Mosul

Mosul (IraqiNews.com) The Iraqi armed forces have recaptured one whole district and part of another in western Mosul on Thursday.

The army’s 9th Armoured Division took over Mesherfa al-Thalitha district, according to Lt. Gen. Abdul-Amir Yarallah, commander of the Nineveh Operations. Troops also gained control on the Mesherfa water purification project and liberated the northern part of Mesherfa al-Thaniya district.

Security troops earlier liberated two villages and a street in northwestern Mosul as they resumed advance in the city, local sources said.

Joint troops of armed forces and Federal Police controlled Mesherfa town, in the northwest of Mosul, and street 60, in the Mesherfa al-Thaniya district, the sources said.

Islamic State militants used four booby-trapped vehicles, driven by suicide bombers, to hamper the troops advance.

Moreover, the troops also took over Dijla village, northwestern Mosul and freed thirty families who were held by the militants in the village, according to news reports.

According to local residents, IS militants began evacuating their families from Mesherfa and 17 Tamuz (July 17th) regions amid heavy firing to prevent civilians from fleeing.

Earlier on the day, Iraqi forces recaptured Hassouna village and the “Nineveh gas lab” in western Mosul as Iraqi armed forces opened a new front against Islamic State in Mosul on Thursday, advancing on the militants’ enclave from the northwest.

Eastern Mosul was recaptured in January after three months of battles between the militants and the Iraqi troops, backed by the U.S.-led coalition and the paramilitary troops. A new offensive was launched in February to retake the west.

Iraqi forces attack ISIS positions in northwestern Msul

[ARA News] The US-backed Iraqi forces imposed a siege on Islamic State’s (ISIS) militants in the northwestern part of the war-torn city of Mosul, officials reported on Thursday.

“The remaining Daesh [ISIS] terrorists in Mosul are now under heavy siege by the Iraqi forces in the northwestern corner of the city,” an army officer told ARA News, adding that their troops are trying to storm the last ISIS stronghold in the Old City of Mosul.

The Iraqi army said in an official statement on Thursday that its 9th Armored Division and the Rapid Response units of the Interior Ministry have opened a new front in the northwest of the city.

“Our forces are making a steady advance in the first hours of the offensive and Daesh fighters are breaking and retreating,” Iraqi Army’s Brigadier General Yahya Rasool told state television.

Mosul is Iraq’s second most populous city, and is deemed the ISIS de facto capital in Iraq. The city fell to ISIS in June 2014.

After showing heavy resistance against the US-backed troops, ISIS is now slowly being pushed, especially since the Iraqi and Kurdish forces launched on 17 October, 2016, an operation to take Mosul.

The major offensive is being supported by the US-led coalition.

The Mosul assault involves a 100,000-strong ground force of Iraqi government troops, members of the Kurdish Peshmerga forces and the Shia paramilitary Popular Mobilization Units (PMU).

IDF: Terrorists stashed M-16 in child’s ‘Dora the Explorer’ bed
[IsraelTimes] Shin Bet nabs 3 alleged members of a cell it says carried out 10 shooting attacks on northern West Bank settlements.

Security forces tossed in the calaboose
Drop the rod and step away witcher hands up!
three Paleostinians suspected to have been behind 10 shootings last month, and found the assault rifle used in the attacks hidden inside a child’s Dora the Explorer bed, the army revealed on Thursday.

"This cynical exploitation of hiding things in a children’s room is known to us. It’s not the first time, and it won’t be the last time that weapons are hidden in a child’s room or other places where they think we won’t look," a senior IDF intelligence officer said.

The attacks took place in the first few days of April. The targets were the northern West Bank settlements of Shavei Shomron, Hermesh and Shaked, near the Paleostinian cities of Jenin and Nablus, as well as Israeli vehicles traveling on the roads and the IDF’s Salem checkpoint, the Shin Bet security service said.

The attacks did not result in any injuries, but did cause damage to property.

During interrogation, the suspects also admitted to planning more attacks, the Shin Bet said.

The frequent nighttime attacks "were a significant threat to civilians and security forces in the Samaria region," the security service said in a statement, using the biblical name for the northern West Bank.

The three suspected turbans were arrested in the village of Faham, southwest of Jenin, on April 4.

Two of the suspects were identified as Louie Ahmad Shafik Saabana, 34, and his cousin Mahmoud Shafik Saabana, 26. The third suspect could not be named publicly "out of operational considerations," the Shin Bet said.

The elder Saabana is an attorney linked to the Popular Front for the Liberation of Paleostine terrorist group, the Shin Bet said.

However,
you can observe a lot just by watching...
the senior intelligence officer said the suspects did not carry out the attacks on behalf of any particular organization.

"It’s still being investigated, but it looks like it was for the dumbest reasons: boredom and things like that. It didn’t come from anything seriously nationalistic or seriously religious," the officer said.

According to the Shin Bet, one of the suspects "expected to be killed during the activities and therefore prepared a will that he kept at home."

The operation to locate and arrest them was carried out by the Shin Bet, IDF and the Israel Police’s West Bank Division.

The rifle was located inside a secret compartment of the child’s bed. The IDF released pictures of where the rifle was hidden, but would not specify in which of the suspects’ houses it was found.

"The M-16 was under a girl’s bed with -- as you can see in the picture -- a Dora comforter on it. That’s the last place that we as a military want to go into and search," the senior intelligence officer said.

In addition to the M-16 assault rifle stashed in the Dora the Explorer bed, security forces elsewhere found two handguns, according to the Shin Bet. The IDF intelligence officer said the overall cost of the weapons was over NIS 100,000 ($27,600).

"These were people with a lot of money," he said.

Forces also seized a number of vehicles that were suspected of being used in the attacks, the Shin Bet said.

Indictments are to be filed in the coming days, the Shin Bet said.

Police: Palestinian attempts to stab officer in Hebron, is shot

[IsraelTimes] A Paleostinian man armed with a knife attempted to attack Israeli security forces in the West Bank city of Hebron
...Hamas Central in the West Bank...
on Thursday, before he was shot by Israeli troops, police said. The assailant, who ran at a Border Police officer with a knife while screaming, was taken to the hospital for medical treatment. His condition was not immediately known.

No Israeli troops were maimed in the incident, which took place at a checkpoint in the West Bank city near the Tomb of the Patriarchs.

Police originally said the attacker was also carrying a grenade and a pistol, which appeared to be fake. In a later statement on Thursday morning, police said that information was incorrect and based on suspicions, clarifying that no such items were located.

The would-be stabber was a Paleostinian Hebron resident in his 20s, police said.

On Wednesday, a knife-carrying Paleostinian man was jugged

by Israeli security forces at a checkpoint in East Jerusalem, police said. According to spokeswoman Luba Samri, the 21-year-old man drew a knife when asked to present his ID card at a checkpoint at the entrance to the Shuafat refugee camp. Police did not say if the man attempted to use the knife. The suspect was taken into custody unharmed, and no other injuries were reported.

Report: Attempted stabbing attack at the Cave of the Patriarchs in Hebron

[Ynet] According to initial reports, the terrorist charged at a group of IDF soldiers while carrying a dud grenade and brandishing a knife. IDF Border Police soldiers standing at a military post near the cave opened fire and neutralized him. No other injuries were reported. The terrorist was evacuated to hospital.

-Short Attention Span Theater-
Hippie Spends 6 Months, $11,000 Travelling, Discovers That he is a “cliche C**t”
Via Boris Rozhin
[ILOVENZ.ME] 19 year old Jonty Cockburn spent the past 6 months travelling the world, visiting some of the world’s most spiritual places only to realise that he is a boring, hypocritical, “cliché c**t” he said.

Cockburn’s expensive round-the-world trip has taken him through countries such as Goa, Mongolia, Peru and Burma but it wasn’t until New Zealand that he found himself.

Cockburn spoke about the realisation and how it overcame him whilst he sat round a drum circle at an organic chickpea farm in New Zealand’s Northern Island.

What triggered Cockburn, was when he realised that he was with another 8 near-identical looking white, hair tied into a bun, poncho-wearing, bucket-hat sporting, fire-poi spinning, terribly tattooed hippies.

What he realised the most was that he has spent most of his life judging others for being “Too mainstream” and “not caring enough about the world.” Cockburn has lost many friends arguing over basic things such as the price of milk and how TV is controlling the population, but now he realises that he can only control his own life and he should mind his own business.

Cockburns Facebook profile lists one of his interests as ‘legalisation, hacky-sack [and]… psytrance’, tells has stated that he intends to cut his dreadlocks off, throw away his propagator
What is a propagator? I want to know just to get the full flavour of the thing.
and burn his embarrassing collection of tye-dye t-shirts.
Propagator also is a bag of bullsh*t.
“I thought I was an individual snowflake, but then I realised that actually, all snow looks the same to the human eye. “ Cockburn goes on to that “I don’t want to sit around anymore talking about how we’re going to change the world with a revolution, only to then consume an entire bag of Cool Original Doritos, watch re-runs of Blackadder, and then fall asleep.”

“I want to actually do something worthwhile with my life instead.” Said Cockburn

Deep stuff, thanks Jonty.

Sisi arrives in UAE with Hafter and Serraj still in Abu Dhabi
[Libya Herald] Egyptian president Abdel Fattah Sisi has arrived in the UAE for talks with Emirati leaders, but also reportedly to see Khalifa Hafter and Faiez Serraj who remain in Abu Dhabi.

While it is not yet confirmed that he will meet the Presidency Council head and Libyan National Army (LNA) chief, Sisi has long sought to bring the two together. He has put considerable pressure on Hafter to step up negotiations with the west of the country.

This included his failed initiative to set up a meeting in Cairo this February where Hafter refused to see Serraj, a decision that irritated the Egyptian president.

Republican Obamacare replacement bill passes House
A different take than the Breitbart article we had yesterday.
[CNBC] After years of debate, the House on Thursday voted to repeal key parts of the Affordable Care Act and replace them with new provisions.

The vote, which President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
was planning to tout as a big victory, sends the Republican-sponsored bill to gut Obamacare
... aka the Affordable Care Act, an ineptly designed and worse executed piece of legislation designed to bring 17 percent of the U.S. economy under the direct control of the government. The previous iteration, known as Hillarycare, was laughed out of Washington. This stinker was passed on a party-line vote without being read...
to the Senate for consideration.

But winning approval for the bill could be even more difficult in the Senate than it has been in the House, where Republican leaders struggled for nearly two months to wrangle enough votes in their caucus to secure its passage.

The bill passed by a vote of 217 to 213, which was one more "yes" vote that was needed for passage.

All 193 Democrats voting opposed the bill. They were joined by 20 Republicans voting "no."

Can education for all work?
[DAWN] ARTICLE 25-A in our Constitution makes education a basic right for all five- to 16-year-old children. For the last many years, governments have been trying to get all children in this age bracket into schools but have not been successful as yet. In fact, though the article talks about all five- to 16-year-old children, most of the focus of governments has been on getting primary education universalised -- and we have not even been successful in that as yet.

Punjab claims that the ’participation’ rate has gone up to 90 per cent at the primary level. But it is not clear as to what is meant by the ’participation’ rate, how this is linked to gross and net enrolment rates and what this means in terms of primary-level completion rates. The claims about enrolments, from other provinces, are lower than those for Punjab, so the problem is bigger in other provinces.

It is often argued, in education policy circles, that getting all children into schools is the first priority and once that is done, we can worry about the quality of education and other related issues. And, broadly speaking, this is indeed the policy that the provincial and federal governments have been following. But, there are a number of problems with this perspective.

20 ISIS shooters die in airstrike near Hawija in Kirkuk
Kirkuk (IraqiNews.com) Twenty Islamic State snipers have been killed by the Iraqi fighter jets in Hawija district, west of Kirkuk.

In a statement on Thursday, the War Media Cell said “Iraqi air force launched two airstrikes that destroyed a stash of weapon of the IS militants and a snipers’ haven in addition to killing 20 snipers in Hawija.

In related news, Gen. Ali Fadel, commander of the East Dijla Operations Command, said operations to be launched soon to drive IS militants out of Hawija.

“Security troops are tightening the grip on the district. Fighter jets launched several airstrikes against several IS militants and pockets there,” Fadel said in statements earlier on Thursday.

The commander urged residents to “stay as they are in case operations were launched to liberate the district and raise white flags to be distinguished and protected by troops.”

Safe passageways, according to Fadel, “will be opened to allow civilians flee so troops would enter the district.”

Dozens of residents from Hawija and the regions in its vicinity escape to Kirkuk province on a daily basis. Despite the risky routes to the freed regions, the civilians prefer death to staying under IS control.

Hawija, located 55 KM west of Kirkuk, has been held by IS since mid-2014.

SpaceX plans to launch first internet-providing satellites in 2019
[THEVERGE] SpaceX has its sights set on Mars, but that doesn’t mean it has forgotten about Earth. Elon Musk’s company yesterday outlined its plan to put a network of internet-providing satellites around our planet, stating in a Senate hearing on broadband infrastructure that it wanted to start sending the craft into space in 2019, before the full network came online in 2024.

SpaceX’s vice president of satellite government affairs, Patricia Cooper, said that the company was aiming to get a prototype satellite into space this year, before launching another in the early months of 2018. These prototypes will be used to demonstrate that the custom-built craft are capable of providing internet for Earth dwellers, but assuming the tests go successfully, SpaceX plans to start building the network proper in 2019.

SPACEX WILL LAUNCH THE SATELLITES ON FALCON 9 ROCKETS
The company will launch additional satellites in phases until 2024, at which point Cooper says the network should have reached full capacity, with the craft operating on the Ka- and Ku-band frequencies. SpaceX will be using its own Falcon 9 rockets to get the satellites into low-Earth orbit -- a measure that will help it save costs and ensure it’s not beholden to the launch schedules of other spacefaring firms.

Cooper said the plan would put 4,425 satellites into orbit around the Earth, operating in 83 planes, at fairly low altitudes of between 1,110 kilometers and 1,325 kilometers. The company will also support its network with ground control centers, gateway stations, and other Earth-based facilities. That makes it an ambitious plan, not least in terms of volume. There are only an estimated 1,459 satellites in orbit around our planet at the moment -- the SpaceX scheme would launch triple that figure, potentially cluttering up the space around Earth, making future launches potentially difficult and dangerous.

North Korea claims armed 'tax officials' beat diplomat, wife in Karachi
[DAWN] North Korea's embassy in Pakistain has accused the country's tax authorities of assaulting a diplomat and his wife, claiming armed officials broke into their Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
home and held guns to their heads, an official confirmed on Thursday.

The written complaint, seen by AFP and addressed to the chief of Excise and Taxation department, demands action against the officials and warns the incident could seriously impact diplomatic relations.

It said at least 10 gunnies from the department burst into the diplomat's Karachi home on April 9 and attacked him and his wife, dragging her by the hair and hitting them both in the face before aiming guns at the couple.

They also shot at photographs of the couple, the letter alleges.

"This is a very serious issue and we have set up a high-powered investigating team to probe into the allegations framed by the Korean embassy," Shoaib Siddiqui, chief of the department told AFP.

The incident was recorded on closed circuit television cameras, the letter, dated April 27, claimed.

"We will examine the CCTV film so that we can identify the men," Siddiqui said.

The diplomat's role in Karachi is not known.

Two 'Beltway Party' Legislators Propose American Replacement Bill, Plus Amnesty
[Breitbart] Two GOP legislators are introducing legislation to let states annually import 500,000 foreign blue-collar workers and white-collar professionals to replace Americans who have fallen out of the workforce and into drug addiction.

The American replacement bill is needed because companies can’t hire the employees they want amid the massive decline in the number of Americans who are seeking work, Wisconsin Sen. Ron Johnson told an event hosted Wednesday by the CATO Institute.

"Why can’t Wisconsin manufacturers, why can’t small businesses, find enough people to work?" Johnson asked during a speech in a Senate hearing room with supporters of the replacement bill. He continued:
Americans don't need to be 'replaced.' Trained possibly, but not replaced. The traitorous legislators are the one's who need to be replaced.

#1  Americans would work, if the safety nets were made more uncomfortable. (It might also help if employers weren't so restrictive about drug use or criminal records - which are reasonable, to a point, but...)
Posted by: Glenmore || 05/05/2017 8:33 Comments || Top||

#2  I agree with Glenmore on this, unless the person is a practicing addict. Job consistency is not in their view of the world.

For others, it's way too easy for many to not work, plus we give them money to sit on their butts.

Also, it's not all the employers' fault that they don't hire folks with a record. The insurance companies have made it very difficult (for liability reasons, they argue) to hire folks with less than stellar backgrounds for many well-paid positions.

A lot of the folks with a past are well trained in one field or another and are really willing to work, they just are 'un-hirable' in today's market.

After a while, they give up.

#3  Amnesty should not even be on the table. Why do these boneheads always spout amnesty? Massive decline in available American workers due to drug addiction? Gowdy said, "There are other ways to invite people other than via a letter. There are things called subpoenas. You shouldn’t have to use it with a former national security adviser, but if you do, you do."
Referencing Rice’s role in the unmasking of Trump transition officials he said Rice is "a very important witness."

He added, "Members of Congress don’t pick the witnesses. Lawyers don’t pick witnesses. The facts pick the witnesses. And whether Ambassador Rice likes it or not, she’s a really important fact witness."

#6  Gowdy keeps falling for the Dems delay tactic. The Subpoena should have been ready to go the first time around and they should have a plan ready when she pleads the 5th so they don't drag this on for a year and allow the Dems to claim witchhunt and move on.

Home Front: Politix
Here are the 20 Republicans 'Beltway Party' Members who rejected ObamaCare repeal
[The Hill] Twenty mostly centrist House Republicans who represent swing districts voted against the GOP’s legislation to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act on Thursday.

Two more defections would have doomed the bill, signaling how tough a vote it was for many lawmakers.

Only one member of the conservative House Freedom Caucus, freshman Rep. Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.), voted against the measure because it didn’t go far enough to fully repeal the healthcare law. Two other libertarian-minded conservatives, Reps. Thomas Massie (Ky.) and Walter Jones (N.C.), also opposed it.

The defectors were primarily centrists who had trepidations about voting for the bill after the addition of an amendment to let states apply for waivers from certain ObamaCare provisions that prevent insurers from charging sick people higher premiums and mandate which services insurance plans must cover.

#1  "because it didn’t go far enough to fully repeal the healthcare law."

Idiot. Get the one through and then fight for a second bill that repeals even more. Don't wait for perfection (unless you are hoping to have it both ways).

Congress Eyes Crackdown On Terror-Tied Iranian Airline Amid Deals with Boeing
[Free Beacon] Congress is considering new methods to crack down on and expose a state-controlled Iranian airline company that routinely uses commercial flights to ferry weapons and terrorist fighters to regional hotspots, according to a copy of new bipartisan legislation circulating through the Senate and obtained by the Washington Free Beacon.

The legislation comes after U.S. plane manufacturer Boeing has announced plans to move forward with a multi-billion dollar deal with Iran Air, an Iranian state-controlled company that is likely to dole out at least a portion of the new airplanes to Mahan Air, another state-controlled carrier suspected of playing a key role in the country's terrorism operations.

The new legislation, which specifically targets Mahan Air, would require the Trump administration to provide Congress with a list of all airports where the commercial carrier has landed. This information will be used to boost security measures on all planes flying into the United States that may have docked at an airport used by Mahan Air.

The move is being viewed as just the first move by Congress against Mahan and other Iranian airline carriers, which are currently in the process of hammering down multi-billion dollar deals with Boeing and other major plane builders.

#1  I suspect this is really a Obama Federal bailout program for Boeing. We have never seen the 'secret' terms of his release of funds to Iran.

[Khaama (Afghanistan)] At least seven forces of Evil of the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....

province of Afghanistan.

The provincial police commandment said the Arclight airstrike was carried out in the vicinity of Gorgori area of Haska Mina district on Wednesday.

The source further added that the security forces and the local residents did not suffer any casualties in the Arclight airstrike.

The anti-government armed Death Eater groups including the ISIS-K loyalists have not commented regarding the report so far.

Nangarhar is among the relatively calm provinces in eastern Afghanistan but the anti-government armed Death Eater groups have recently increased their insurgency activities in some parts of the province during the recent years.

This as an anti-ISIS operation is underway in Nangarhar to eliminate the presence of ISIS affiliates in this province.

The Hamza operations were launched nearly one month ago in response to the growing threats posed by ISIS loyalists in Nangarhar province.
