OPEC to US: Please Help Us Improve the World Economy By Restricting Your Production of Oil
[Ace.mu.nu.] If you enjoy the spectacle of OPEC begging US oil producers to choke back the flow of oil to bail their asses out, then, as Instapundit says, you should hug a fracker.

Sexton goofs on OPEC's plea, reported by CNN Money:
The report said that balancing the market would "require the collective efforts of all oil producers" and should be done "not only for the benefit of the individual countries, but also for the general prosperity of the world economy."
OPEC said that one producer in particular is to blame: The U.S., where shale producers have continued to ramp up their drilling despite lower crude prices.

The increased production has undermined OPEC’s efforts to keep prices between $50 and $60 per barrel.

Faces in want of a fist and mouths in want of My Dick.

This is very wonderful news. That these bastards, who have long enjoyed extracting money from us by artificially restricting supply, and have used the Oil Weapon against us again and again, and have used their oil wealth to prop up communist regimes (see Venezeula) or fund terrorist groups (see most of the Gulf states) or to both prop up a communist regime and fund terrorist groups (see Russia) are now begging us to help them do these things by making ourselves poorer is... well it's just about the most beautiful thing I've read in a year.

And who is again who is anti-fracking? And who is pro-fracking?

And which side does Russia propagandize for? Right, they pay money to anti-fracking propaganda groups in order to get us to stop making so much oil.

And the left supports that, and Trump opposes that (and supports fracking).

Who's the communist agent of influence again?

Dick Status: Plump and Bouncy. And not in a menacing, vulgar way, but in a happy, joyous way, like the Jamboree Bears at Disneyland dancing around and playing the banjo.

#2  We could always join OPEC. Partake of the fine dining, attend the meetings, pontificate, and then tell them we do not choose to control the individual producers.

#3  From the CNN Money article:

The cartel has in the past fought fiercely for its market share. Starting in 2014, it pumped relentlessly in order to squeeze higher cost American producers.
The strategy pushed prices well below $30 per barrel and forced many U.S. producers to scale back in 2015 and 2016.

But it had a disastrous effect on the government budgets of OPEC members, forcing them to implement austerity measures.

It also forced U.S. producers to become more efficient, and they can now withstand much lower prices than just a few years ago. Analysts at UBS estimate that U.S. producers can now make money as long as prices remain above $40 per barrel, down from $65 in early 2014.

An unexpected consequence!

Randy gator suffers Kayak rejection near the Alabama coast
[UPI] A visitor to the Gulf Coast in Alabama captured video of a kayaker paddling for his life while being chased through the water by an alligator.

Shannon Collins posted a series of videos to Facebook showing the unknown man furiously paddling his kayak toward the dock Sunday in Spanish Fort while a large alligator swims toward him.

"When you really really really don't want to tip over your kayak..." Collins wrote in the video's description.

Collins said in a comment that the kayaker successfully escaped.

"That gator followed him until he docked, then stayed there by him until he loaded his kayak in his truck and left. He got a little too close to her babies we think and she wasn't letting him out of her sight. That gator was serious," she wrote.

Land Audit Needed - 'You didn't build that'... successful farming operation.
[De Klerk Foundation] In this article, it is (again) suggested that the country needs a proper and credible land audit before we carry on with a debate that would otherwise remain emotional and divisive. It is, secondly, highlighted that some research has shown that we may have progressed further with land reform than we are sometimes led to believe. And it is thirdly pointed out that the real "land hunger" is not necessarily for agricultural land to farm, but for urban and peri-urban land to build houses and make a home.

Land reform, especially of agricultural land, is nowadays almost a shibboleth for South African politics. The reasoning of the associated rhetoric usually has the following elements:

"Soil is prosperity, and if you first possess land, you can buy all the other good things with that wealth." And this usually refers to agricultural land.

"Historically, white people stole the land from black people and it has to be returned."

"23 years post-democracy, black people still only own 9.8% of the arable land in South Africa."

"There is a hunger for agricultural land among our people, like in Zimbabwe, and if we do not listen, we will follow the path of land occupation and confiscation."

Underscoring these arguments is that nothing - or very little - has been happening since 1994 and that radical action is needed to return (agricultural) land to black South Africans, such as to expropriate land without compensation. What is the reality? The table below shows the surface area of South Africa, as well as the percentage of agricultural and arable land. It also shows that almost 50% of South Africa is considered desert (less than 200mm rain per year) or very dry (less than 400mm per year).

Democrat Refers to Middle America as ‘Podunk, USA'
[Free Beacon] A Democratic lawmaker from California referred to Middle America as "Podunk, USA," during a committee meeting last week, several sources inside the meeting told the Washington Free Beacon.

Remarks by Rep. Anna Eshoo (D., Calif.) during a closed-door Energy and Commerce Committee meeting with Federal Communications Commission Chairman Ajit Pai raised eyebrows from those present.

The moment occurred when Eshoo pushed back against Pai when he was discussing expanding broadband access to rural areas.

#1  Like a lot of Californians, I have relatives in the Midwest. I've spent considerable time there. Yes, it is the hinterlands. But it's refreshing to go there now and see rural land, farm land, that isn't coveted by developers who can only envision massive housing tracts that will make them rich like they do in California.

And the people in the Midwest may be hicks, if that's what you want to call them. But it doesn't mean they're stupid. They are most certainly not dumb enough to get stuck in a squalid Los Angeles apartment building or get stuck in horrendous traffic jams every day attempting to get to work. The air they breath in the Midwest is not polluted and the streets are a whole heckuva lot safer.

Call 'em podunk if you want, Anna. Just don't measure your IQ against them.

#3  How utterly parochial. But about what one would expect, including the arrogant rudeness. The amusing thing is how many people have moved here from the so-"sophisticated" coasts, and would rather have all their teeth pulled than go back for longer than a visit.

But the real issue is that once the interior of the country gets broadband, they will be competing with the coast for all those telecommute jobs... and can charge less because their cost of living is significantly lower except in Chicago. Outsourcing to the middle of America is so much more heartbreaking than sending the jobs to India or the Philippines.

ABC Cancels Conservative Tim Allen Sitcom ‘Last Man Standing' Despite Strong Ratings
[Breitbart] ABC has cancelled its Tim Allen-starring sitcom Last Man Standing after six seasons, the network confirmed Wednesday.

ABC and production partner 20th Century Fox TV had reportedly usually negotiated over licensing fees for the comedy series before each season; this time, according to Deadline, there was no negotiation, and the network simply pulled the plug on the show.

The sitcom starred Allen as Mike Baxter, a marketing director for a sporting goods store who happened to be politically conservative, and his relationship with his wife Vanessa and his three teenage daughters. The show was one of the few (if not the only) broadcast network sitcom to appeal to conservative, blue-collar America, a true oddity since Allen has noted in interviews that the program was written by liberal writers.

Krauthammer: Comey Firing Is ‘Troubling In Some Ways,' But It Has Sent Press ‘Over the Edge'
[Breitbart] On Thursday’s broadcast of the Fox News Channel’s "Tucker Carlson Tonight," columnist Charles Krauthammer argued that while FBI Director James Comey’s firing is "troubling in some ways," it "has sort of sent people over the edge. #2  There's this new thing all the kids are doing called 'Chain of Command'. The idea that Comey or anybody else at the bureau is irreplaceable is something out of the 4th grade. Did any of the nobility ask themselves what might have happened or the difference been had he fallen in the shower or been in a car accident? How about he simply woke up one day and said, 'the Hell with it'. Would the planet still be spinning off it's axis into the void.

Of course on a more positive note, all the outcry is how we can hope the adults stay in charge, that and some additional outreach from Lena Dunham.

Three Cheers for Sarah Sanders
[AmericanThinker] One has to almost like punishment to face the White House Press Corps these days. Ever since President Trump was inaugurated, this 100% liberal Democrat murder of crows sits there each day and harasses Sean Spicer, or, as in the last few days, Sarah Huckabee Sanders. Spicer has toughened up since his early days, but Sanders, who is temporarily replacing him as he serves his Naval Reserve duty, is a born natural. Like her father, former governor Mike Huckabee, she has the gift of strong, plain language, and she is quick on the draw. How anyone endures the tedium of this press corps is a mystery, but she seems to revel at the opportunity to push back.

Lawyer for man dragged from United flight isn't laughing at viral New Yorker cover
[Market Watch] The New Yorker published a teaser cover of its issue due out May 22, and so far the illustration -- depicting Attorney General Jeff Sessions as a police office forcibly removing former Federal Bureau of Investigation Director James Comey down an airplane aisle -- has gone viral, scoring rave reviews on social media.

But there is at least one person who isn’t laughing.

The cover art draws a clear parallel between Comey’s stunning firing by Trump earlier this week and Dr. David Dao, who garnered world-wide attention after scenes of him being dragged from a United Airlines flight -- captured on cellphone cameras last month -- drew swift rebuke from the public and compelled the airline carrier’s parent United Continental Holdings Inc. UAL, -1.51% to reach a settlement with Dao for an undisclosed sum.

Dao’s attorney, Thomas Demetrio, partner at Chicago law firm Corboy & Demetrio, told MarketWatch that the cover art, although "very clever" minimizes his client’s pain and suffering. Dao lost his teeth and suffered a concussion related to his removal from the United flight, according to his attorney.

Army Wizes Up, Terminates XM25 Contract; Airburst Weapon's Future Uncertain
[Kit Up] I found out on late Friday afternoon that the U.S. Army cancelled its XM25 25mm airburst weapon contract with Orbital ATK Inc.

Nicknamed "the Punisher" and designed by Orbital ATK and Heckler & Koch, XM25 Counter-Defilade Target Engagement System has long been the Army’s attempt to field a "leap-ahead" weapon designed to give infantry units a decisive edge against enemies hiding behind cover.

I wrote a story about for Military.com, which ran on Saturday, that talks about how Army Weapons officials were reluctant to talk about XM25 when asked about it last week at the National Defense Industrial Association’s Armaments Systems Forum.

#2  Try funding it, producing it, and speeding it to the front with such expense and tech.

I AM never comfortable with a military that loses support every time a democrat gets in charge, and a military that is forced to take elaborate technical weapons systems.

Too much tech mucks up the actual field.
And you will lose the next time you get a piece of shit like obama again.

These contracts are political anyway.

#9  As I understand it, The problem was:
the cost and complexity of the weapon;
the cost and complexity of the ammo;
the fact that there were not enough opportunities to use the weapon's features.

Simply stated, on a cost per kill basis the M320, m32, and Mk 19 can get the kills cheaper.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
St. Olaf: Report of racist note on black student's windshield was 'fabricated'
[STARTRIBUNE] A racist threat against a St. Olaf student that touched off campuswide protests and forced the college to cancel classes earlier this month was a hoax, the school revealed Wednesday.

A student confessed to writing the note, St. Olaf President David R. Anderson wrote in a message to students. The threat -- an anonymous, typewritten note -- was "fabricated," he said, as an apparent "strategy to draw attention to concerns about the campus climate."

"This was not a genuine threat," Anderson wrote in the first of two messages Wednesday to students. "We’re confident that there is no ongoing threat from this incident to individuals or the community as a whole."

The note, tucked onto the windshield of a black student’s car on April 29, sparked outrage, fear and hurt on this close-knit private college campus, tucked into the hills of this river town about 45 miles south of the Twin Cities. The revelation that the note was fake was a shock of a different sort.

"I think it’s disturbing that it was written deliberately, just to stir up the campus," sophomore Ben Parsell said Wednesday.

But would the hoax make it harder for the victim of a genuine racist threat to get help next time? Parsell didn’t think so.

A student took a photograph of a banner that hung in Buntrock Commons at St. Olaf College. The college released at statement Wednesday that a racist note left on a black student's car last month was a hoax.

"I don’t think the campus would let that happen," he said.

For some students, a fake threat doesn’t change the reality of racism, or the positive changes they’ve seen on campus since the protests -- including a task force the university pledged to set up to address minority student concerns.

"It’s started something good," said Daniel Katuka. The St. Olaf senior, who is black, said he hasn’t encountered the sort of racism on campus that he’s experienced in the outside world. But he appreciated the St. Olaf community coming together "in a positive way" in the face of an apparent threat.

Three-term PM of Bangla, widow of deceased dictator Ziaur Rahman, head of the Bangla Nationalist Party, an apparent magnet for corruption ...

Khaleda unveiled the 256-point manifesto at a presser on Wednesday at a city hotel.

BNP leaders and activists are saying they are optimistic about participating in the upcoming national election, and the announcement of the manifesto was a positive move that will prepare the party for a potential early election.

Reading out the manifesto, Khaleda said BNP wants to bring an end to political and social divisions in the country by uniting the spirit of Bangladeshi nationalism.

"After coming to power in 2009, Awami League brought 15th and 16th amendment to the constitution through which the systems of referendum and caretaker government system during election was abrogated," the BNP chief read from the manifesto.

HM behind killing of Army officer
[Daily Excelsior] Security forces have identified three bandidos bully boyz of Hizbul Mujahideen, who, they believed, kidnapped and killed an Army officer in Kulgam district of South Kashmire yesterday.

Sources said that the security forces have launched massive operations against the killers of Lieutenant Umar Fayaz, the young Army officer found dead in Shopian Kashmire after he was kidnapped from a family wedding.

They said at least 5 bandidos bully boyz of Hizbul Mujahideen were involved in his kidnapping and killing. Three of them have been identified as Abbas Bhat of Materbugh, Gayasul Islam of Chekchalun and Ashfaq Ahmad Thokar of Paderpora.

They said that this group has been involved in various militancy related incidents in the area including attack on a cavalcade of senior officers including SSP, DySP and SHO at Kumdalan village Shopian on May 9 in which they escaped unhurt.

These bandidos bully boyz are also believed to be involved in an attack on Army party at Imam Saheb area of Shopian on May 4 in which a civilian driver who was driving the Army vehicle and two Army men were maimed.

Sources said that the Army officer was killed with a rifle that was looted from a policeman in a recent attack on a court complex in Shopian as the empty cartridges of an INSAS rifle were found near his body.

And in the evening, a group of three bandidos bully boyz managed to escape after residents pelted stones on them at Khudwani in Kulgam district.

Sources said that security forces cordoned off village Khudwani after a tip off about presence of bandidos bully boyz in the village. As the security forces cordoned off the village, the residents came out in large numbers and pelted stones at them.

Police and CRPF fired tear smoke to disperse the protesters and dingdong battles continued for several hours but the operation was later called off.

Heavy Pak shelling targets civilians, migration begins
[Daily Excelsior] A woman was killed and her husband injured while several Government and private buildings including a school and forward posts of the Indian Army were pounded with 120mm mortars and automatic weapons by Pakistain army last night in Nowshera sector. In retaliatory firing by the Indian troops, Pakistain claimed that a civilian was killed and three others were maimed on their side.

The administration has ordered closure of Government schools along the Line of Control (LoC) in Nowshera sector and set up two migrant camps at Government Higher Secondary Schools for Boys and Girls in Nowshera town, where some families reached late this evening from forward villages in anticipation of fresh mortar shelling by the Pak troops. The schools, falling within the range of two kilometers from the LoC, will also remain closed tomorrow.

Arabia
US approves sale of $2 billion worth of missiles to UAE
[Iran Press TV] The United States has approved a possible $2 billion worth of missile sale to the United Arab Emirates, a key member of the Saudi-led military campaign against Yemen, says the Pentagon.

The State Department authorized the sale of 60 Patriot missiles with canisters as well as 100 Patriot guidance enhanced missiles, among other military equipment to the UAE, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) said Thursday.

"This proposed sale will contribute to the foreign policy and national security of the United States by improving the security of an important ally which has been, and continues to be, a force for political stability and economic progress in the Middle East," the DSCA said.

"The UAE will use the capability as a deterrent to regional threats and to strengthen its homeland defense. The UAE has fielded the Patriot system since 2009 and will have no difficulty absorbing these additional missiles into its armed forces."

According to the Pentagon, the deal, which must also be approved by Congress, will be supported by an office of the US Army's Aviation and Missile Life Cycle Management Command (AMCOM) that is already in the Arab country.

During an international exhibition of weapons and military equipment held in Abu Dhabi in February, the UAE struck arms deals worth of over five billion dollars, including a $740-million one with US weapons manufacturer Raytheon.

Also in April, the Arab kingdom signed another deal with Germany to buy 203,448 detonators for 40-mm mortar shells as well as 134 million dollars worth of armor-plating for military vehicles.

Ex-governor defies Hadi, forms autonomous body in Aden
[Iran Press TV] Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi's governor for Yemen's port city of Aden, recently fired by the Saudi-backed former president, has launched an autonomous body to manage the war-wracked country's south.

Maj. Gen. Aidarous al-Zubaidi, who has fallen out with Hadi but is close to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), formed the new "transitional political council of the south" on Thursday.

The new council is made up of 26 members, including the governors of five southern provinces and two Hadi ministers.

The sacked governor said the new council would "manage the provinces of the south and represent (them) domestically and internationally".

Hadi dismissed his governor for Aden and his state minister Hani bin Breik on April 27 over their alleged close ties with the United Arab Emirates.

In a recent interview with Middle East Eye online news portal, Hadi accused the UAE of acting "like an occupation power in Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of. Except for a tiny handfull of Jews everthing there is very Islamic...
rather than a force of liberation."

The two men are also believed to be close to southern independence activists.

The move was a new blow to Hadi's efforts to keep together loyalists and reflected divisions among his supporters. Hadi has relied heavily on the militia recruited in the south, where separatist sentiments run deep.

The announcement on the formation of the council also comes days after thousands of people held a demonstration in Aden to denounce the sacking of bigwigs by Hadi.

Yemen’s Hadi discusses resumption of peace talks with UN envoy

Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The Yemeni government has accused the Houthis of having ties to the Iranian government, which wouldn't suprise most of us. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews ...

In August 2016, UN-sponsored talks for establishing peace in Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of. Except for a tiny handfull of Jews everthing there is very Islamic...
collapsed without any breakthroughs.

The attempt for pushing for peace comes amid cynicism blanketing the Yemeni situation.

The UN envoy is also expected to meet with officials from the Arab Coalition to discuss ceasefire.

Meanwhile,
...back at the wrecked scow, a single surviver held tightly to the smashed prow...
the Saudi forces have ended a battle with Houthi militias early Thursday at the border Saudi city of Jazan near Yemen.

Al Arabiya News Channel’s correspondent said that Saudi forces have foiled a big attack from the Iran-backed Houthi militias near al-Dafina and al-Qiran villages in Jazan.

Military sources said that the battle has continued for two hours, where at least 40 Houthis were killed including one leader.

Assad: De-escalation zones chance for rebels to ‘reconcile’
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Syrian Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
One of the last of the old-fashioned hereditary iron-fisted fascist dictators...
said that de-escalation zones proposed by his ally Russia were a chance for rebels to "reconcile" with Damascus and drive out ISIS murderous Moslems, but vowed to fight on calling UN-led peace talks fruitless.

Assad pledged, in an interview with Belarusian TV Channel ONT aired on Thursday, to defend the zones and to crush, with the support of Iran and Hezbollah, those who try to breach them.

Efforts over the past year to halt the six-year Syrian war have fallen flat, and a ceasefire agreed to by the government side and militia in December was violated early on.

Russia’s proposal for zones took effect last week, covering areas in the west of the country and Damascus has suggested there could be a role for Russian military police.

Assad said the primary aim was to protect civilians.

"The second goal is to give the Lions of Islam who want reconciliation with the state a chance ... to settle their cases, hand over their weapons in return for amnesty," he said.

Damascus has said rebels should help drive ISIS groups out of the de-escalation zones, and sees so-called reconciliation agreements, which have involved the evacuation of militia from besieged areas, as an alternative to peace talks.

Iraqi army Chief: ISIS will be expelled from Mosul before Ramadan
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The Iraqi Ministry of Defense has announced that the entire djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
area will be under control before Ramadan.

This announcement came through army Chief Osman al-Ghanmi during his inspection of the operations taking place against ISIS in the city of Mosul.

Al-Ghanmi praised the progress of the Iraqi forces, stressing at the same time the need to protect the lives of civilians.

It seems that al- Ghanmi based his statement on the progress of the joint forces and their recent control over more than one region near Mosul, such as Al Haramat Al Thanya, Al ma’amel,

As for the industrial zone, the joint forces announced that they continue to rid the area of ISIS militia after the killing of dozens of gunnies and the detonation of boom-mobiles.

On another note, a security source in the province of Diyala said that joint forces of the army and the police launched a large-scale military operation with the support of the warplanes to end the presence of dormant cells belonging to ISIS in villages east of the province.

According to Captain Habib al-Shammari, the operation targeted the headquarters where the organization's imported muscle were housed, as well as weapons stores.

‘Illegally-detained’ woman, two sons recovered in raid on police station
[DAWN] KARACHI: A magistrate on Wednesday raided the SITE Superhighway Industrial Area cop shoppe and recovered a woman and her two children apparently kept there in wrongful detention.

Judicial Magistrate Asif Raza Mir got the detainee, Mariyam, and her two sons, aged four and six years, released on a personal bond since the police were unable to justify her detention.

He also directed the station house officer and station investigation officer (SIO), Inspector Shakoor, to appear before the district and sessions court (Malir) on Thursday (today).

The magistrate along with applicant Manzoor Ahmed and his lawyer raided the cop shoppe and found the women in the room of the SIO.

Court officials said the police failed to produce any FIR against the woman or an entry in the daily dairy regarding her arrest.

However,
a lie repeated often enough remains a lie...
Inspector Shakoor claimed that the woman was brought to the cop shoppe for questioning in a murder case a little before the magistrate’s raid. But, the daily dairy was silent about this.

The applicant, through his lawyer, moved a habeas corpus application under Section 491 of the Criminal Procedure Code submitting that the police raided his house in Ahsanabad and picked up his wife along with his minor sons a couple of days ago.

He maintained that the police kept them in wrongful confinement and demanded a bribe against their release. The applicant asked the court for their recovery.

After a preliminary hearing, the district and sessions judge (Malir) appointed the magistrate as the raid commissioner directing him to carry out a raid on the information to be provided by the applicant and recover the detainees if found in wrongful confinement.

Boston doctors murder: Suspect worked as concierge at condo complex
More on this story from a few days ago. The key points we care about at Rantburg: Bampumim “JJ” Teixeira had worked as a concierge/guard in the building, he immigrated legally at age 20, was born in the West African country of Guinea-Bissau (45% Muslim) and grew up on the Cape Verde islands (95% Christian) off the coast of West Africa.
[FoxNews] The man accused of murdering two engaged doctors in a Boston penthouse condominium on Friday worked as a concierge in the building complex, the district attorney confirmed Monday.

Bampumim Teixeira, who was arraigned Monday afternoon for the murders of Dr. Lina Bolanos, 38, and Dr. Richard Field, 49, was employed by Palladion Services, a security and concierge company. The condo complex where the couple died, used the company's services until February, according to People Magazine who first obtained an email the building's managment sent to residents.

It's unclear exactly when or how long Teixeira, 30, worked as a concierge in the condo complex, which consists of two separate structures.

No part of Israel immune to resistance missiles in any future war: Nasrallah
But Israel has sturdy bomb shelters within easy reach throughout the country, not to mention counterbatteries. How much of Hezbollahstan can say the same?
[Iran Press TV] The Secretary General of Leb's Hezbollah resistance movement, Sayyad Hassan Nasrallah, says no part of the occupied Paleostinian lands will be immune to resistance missiles and its fighters in any future conflict.

Nasrallah made the remarks on Thursday, during a speech made to honor the movement’s top military commander, Mustafa Badreddine, who lost his life while fighting foreign-sponsored Takfiri
...an adherent of takfir wal hijra, an offshoot of Salafism that regards everybody who doesn't agree with them as apostates who must be killed...
terrorist groups in Syria last year.

Honoring the memory of the slain commander, the Hezbollah chief said Israel knows that any future conflict will be inside occupied Paleostine.

Nasrallah noted that Israel will be defeated during any military confrontation with Hezbollah fighters.

The Hezbollah leader went on to say that Lebanese resistance fighters have fulfilled the task of securing the border area with Syria and dismantled krazed killer outposts in the region.

He stressed that Hezbollah has made enormous sacrifices to defend all walks of the nation irrespective of their religious background.

Nasrallah also strongly dismissed allegations that Hezbollah is seeking demographic changes in neighboring Syria, emphasizing that Takfiri krazed killer groups, backed by the United States, The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
and some Persian Gulf states, are forcing such changes in Syrian towns and cities.

Turkey denounces German move to accept asylum requests
[AlAhram] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
on Thursday condemned Germany for granting political asylum to numerous military personnel and their families with alleged links to last year's failed coup, saying the move risked harming relations.

Germany gave positive responses to the asylum petitions of the Turkish nationals holding diplomatic passports, the Sueddeutsche Zeitung daily and public broadcasters WDR and NDR reported. The reports were not officially confirmed by authorities.

Since the unsuccessful coup attempt in July last year, dozens of diplomats, judges, and high-ranking Turkish officials have sought asylum in Germany as Ankara presses ahead with a vast crackdown on alleged supporters of Fethullah Gulen
... a Turkish preacher living in Pennsylvania whom the current govt of Turkey considers responsible for all the ills afflicting Turkey and possibly the entire world...
, the US-based preacher who Ankara blames for the coup.

German media reported that 414 military personnel, diplomats, judges and other high-ranking Turkish officials have sought political asylum in Germany. That number also includes family members.

"We regret that Germany is accepting asylum requests of some former military personnel" linked with Gulen, the Turkish foreign ministry said in a statement. Gulen, who has been in exile in the United States since 1999, has denied the charges.

"The German decision is a step that is not in line with the spirit of alliance and multi-faced relations between our countries," the statement added.

The ministry said allowing the asylum requests would mean "tolerating and embracing a pro-coup mentality," urging Berlin to review its decision.

Libya intercepts 350 migrants after duel at sea
[AlAhram] Libya's coastguard on Wednesday intercepted a wooden boat packed with more than 350 migrants colonists after duelling with a German rescue ship and coming under fire from traffickers, the navy said.

The migrants colonists, who were bound for Italia, were picked up off the western city of Sabratha, said navy front man Ayoub Qassem.

The German non-governmental organization "Sea-Watch tried to disrupt the coastguard operation... inside Libyan waters and wanted to take the migrants colonists, on the pretext that Libya wasn't safe," Qassem told AFP.

The German non-governmental organization "Sea-Watch tried to disrupt the coastguard operation... inside Libyan waters and wanted to take the migrants colonists, on the pretext that Libya wasn't safe," Qassem told AFP.
Sea-Watch posted a video on Twitter of what it said was a Libyan coastguard vessel narrowly cutting across the bow of its ship.

"This EU-funded Libyan patrol vessel almost crashed (into) our civil rescue ship," read the caption.

Qassem also said the coastguard had come under fire from people traffickers, without reporting any casualties.

The migrants colonists were taken to a naval base in Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
, where an AFP photographer said most of them appeared to be from Morocco and Bangladesh.

According to international organizations, between 800,000 and one million people, mostly from sub-Saharan Africa, are currently in Libya hoping to make the perilous Mediterranean crossing to Europe.

Between 7,000 and 8,000 migrants colonists are being held in Libyan detention centres after entering the country illegally, an immigration official said on Tuesday.

The North African country has long been a stepping stone for migrants colonists seeking a better life in Europe. Smugglers have stepped up their lucrative business in the chaos which has engulfed Libya since its 2011 revolution.

Iraq
Iraqi army launches large-scale operation against Daesh in Anbar
[Iran Press TV] The Iraqi army has launched a large-scale operation against ISIS in the desert areas of the western Anbar Province as the terrorist group is being dealt final blows in the country's fight against the Takfiri
...an adherent of takfir wal hijra, an offshoot of Salafism that regards everybody who doesn't agree with them as apostates who must be killed...
terrorists.

An Iraqi army lieutenant colonel said the military, backed by local tribal fighters, began the operation against murderous Moslem hideouts early Thursday.

"The security forces are advancing from an area called 'Kilometer 160', west of [Anbar historic provincial capital city,] Ramadi, towards [the town of] Nukhayb," the officer added.

Furthermore, Iraqi Major General Mahmud al-Falahi, the head of Anbar Operations Command, said the Anbar push was aimed at flushing ISIS out of the desert regions and securing the town of Rutbah.

Anbar is the largest Iraqi province and borders Syria, Jordan and Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
. It has been a murderous Moslem stronghold since 2014 when ISIS swept through Iraq.

The Iraqi forces have managed to retake most of the towns and cities in Anbar, but the hard boyz still control areas near the Syrian border.

Separately on Thursday, the head of the security committee of the Diyala governorate's general office announced that a ISIS ringleader, identified as Abu Ghatibah, was killed in a rocket attack on the terror outfit's hideout near the city of Baqubah.

Abu Ghatibah was close to ISIS leader, Ibrahim al-Samarrai, also known as His Supreme Immensity, Caliph of the Faithful and Galactic Overlord, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi
...formerly merely the head of ISIL and a veteran of the Bagram jailhouse. Looks like a new messiah to bajillions of Moslems, like just another dead-eyed mass murder to the rest of us...
, the official pointed out.

Clashes erupt at Palestinian protest in support of hunger strikers
[IsraelTimes] Palestinian youths hurl stones at IDF soldiers who respond with rubber bullets, water cannon; 2 injured

Clashes erupted in the West Bank on Thursday between Israeli soldiers and hundreds of Paleostinians protesting in support of hunger strikers in Israeli prisons, leaving at least two people maimed.

Youths wearing hoods or masks threw stones at IDF soldiers, who responded with rubber bullets and water cannon containing foul-smelling liquid.

The two Paleostinians were hit by rubber bullets and evacuated on stretchers with bloodied legs, an AFP journalist reported.

The festivities broke out at a checkpoint at the entrance to Ramallah.

The protest was called in support of hundreds of Paleostinian security prisoners on hunger strike in Israeli jails since April 17.

"We are entering an extremely critical period" for the hunger strikers, Qadura Fares, head of the Paleostinian Prisoners Club, said earlier at a rally in Ramallah. "A large number of prisoners can no longer move from their bed or take care of their basic needs."

The International Committee of the Red Thingy (ICRC) visited the leader of the hunger strike, popular Paleostinian figure and convicted terrorist Marwan Barghouti, on Thursday for the first time since it began. Barghouti is serving five life sentences for his role in orchestrating deadly terror attacks during the second Paleostinian intifada.

An ICRC front man was unable to provide an update on his health "in accordance with the principles of medical confidentiality."

The ICRC had also been allowed access to other prisoners on hunger strike.

Israeli authorities say 894 Paleostinian prisoners have kept up the strike, while Paleostinian officials say it is more than 1,000.

Some 6,500 Paleostinians are currently held by Israel for a range of offenses and alleged crimes.

Israel says prisoners’ conditions meet all international standards.

Long Island Terrorist Who Joined Al Qaeda in 2007 Will Be Released This Summer
[NBCNewYork] Federal officials say Bryant Neal Vinas cooperated extensively both before and after he was taken into custody nearly a decade ago, but they say his crimes were extremely serious.

A Long Island man who joined al-Qaeda and once plotted to bomb LIRR trains heading to and from Penn Station will be released from prison this summer.

Bryant Neal Vinas
...the American-born child of Catholic South American immigrants who after a brief stint in the army fell under the sway of Islam and ran off to join Al Qaeda in 2007, where apparently he met everybody and was told all their plans. A year later the Pakistanis arrested him, then turned him over to the Americans -- he's been singing like a bird ever since, and would like to make it his profession...
, who also plotted attacks on U.S. troops in Afghanistan while he was a commander of an al-Qaeda branch there, pleaded guilty to charges connected to the train bomb plot in January 2009.

On Thursday a judge in Brooklyn federal court sentenced Vinas to time served plus 90 days. On his release he will be required to continue cooperating with the government.

"I apologize for my actions. There is no excuse for them. I blame only myself," Vinas said in court. "I want to turn a bad thing into a good thing."

Government officials say Vinas has cooperated in more than 30 terror investigations; some of his interviews were prior to his arrest, and authorities say he was instrumental in exposing the LIRR plot he was involved in, which apparently was never set in motion.

U.S. authorities credit the Patchogue native with helping them identify al-Qaeda members, pinpoint their hideouts, understand their communication structure and disrupt terror plots.

The government took no position on whether to release him. Federal officials acknowledge Vinas's cooperation could not have been "more timely," but say his crimes were extremely serious.

Judge Nicholas Garaufis said he was "... cautiously optimistic he’s learned from the error of his ways."

province.

The provincial government in a statement said the ISIS group leader identified as Wafadar was in charge of a group of at least 15 murderous Moslems.

The statement further added that Wafadar was previously involved in terrorist related activities in Chaparhar, Haska Mina, and Kot districts.

Wafadar joined grinding of the peace processor after reaching to a conclusion and understanding the realities on the ground due to the efforts of the Afghan intelligence operatives, the statement said, adding that he has also handed over a pistol, a communications device, and two hand grenades to the government authorities.

The former ISIS leader has admitted that was involved in destructive activities with the Taliban

group before and pledged allegiance t ISIS when the group established their presence in Afghanistan, committing horrible crimes and atrocities in the country.

He also admitted that the citizens of the neighboring countries are also present in the country operating under the flag of ISIS and are receiving command from the neighboring countries.

According to Wafadar, the ISIS faceless myrmidons are forcefully grabbing the harvest, livestock, and other properties of the local residents under their control for their living besides they are killing the citizens, a move which he says forced him to leave and join grinding of the peace processor.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Coalition confirms Tabqa liberation, calls SDF ‘most committed’ partner against ISIS
[ARA] The Kurdish-Arab alliance of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) completed the liberation of the Tabqa Dam, the city of Tabqa and its nearby airfield from ISIS jihadists, the US-led coalition said on Thursday, adding that the SDF will now move on to isolate and eventually liberate the city of Raqqa from ISIS.

"The multi-ethnic SDF forced the surrender of Tabqa Dam and the remainder of Tabqa City, continuing the trend of ISIS’s diminished control of territory and people. The SDF has now further isolated ISIS in Raqqa, the terror group’s stronghold, and will continue to pursue the military defeat of ISIS throughout Syria," the coalition said in a statement obtained by ARA News.

"This is yet another victory by the SAC and the SDF, our most committed and capable ground force partners in the fight against ISIS who remain hard at work erasing ISIS from the battlefield, liberating their own people and lands," said the Coalition Spokesman Col. John Dorrian.

"In Tabqa, the SDF’s increased pressure on ISIS from each flank allowed it to accelerate the pace of the fight, clear the final neighborhoods of the city, and isolate Tabqah Dam. Approximately 70 ISIS fighters conceded to the SDF’s terms, which included the dismantling of IEDs surrounding the dam, the surrender of all ISIS heavy weapons, and the forced withdrawal of all remaining fighters from Tabqa City," the coalition said.

"The SDF accepted ISIS’s surrender of the city to protect innocent civilians and to protect the Tabqa Dam infrastructure which hundreds of thousands of Syrians rely on for water, agriculture, and electricity. The Coalition tracked fleeing fighters and targeted those that could be safely hit without harming civilians," the coalition added.

Dorrian said about 30,000 of the city’s residents have been displaced from their homes since the battle for the city started in late March.

The SDF operation began on March 22 with a surprise aerial infiltration behind enemy lines to the south of Lake Assad, severs ISIS’s ability to reinforce Raqqa and denies ISIS a key coordination hub that its foreign terrorist fighters used since 2013 to plan local operations and external attacks against the West.

"With its seizure, the coalition has prevented a potential humanitarian disaster and ensured local citizens will continue to receive the dam’s basic services," the coalition said.

"After ISIS’s defeat in northern Syria, ISIS moved its imported muscle and external attack planning operations to Tabqah in order to avoid coalition Arclight airstrikes within Raqqa. The operation to seize the Tabqa Dam, airfield and city disrupts ISIS operations in Raqqa and their ability to defend the city and plan and execute external attacks against the West," it said.

"With Tabqa now liberated and Raqqa further isolated, the Coalition and its partner forces continue to hinder ISIS’s ability to reinforce its self-proclaimed capital in Raqqa, prevented a potential humanitarian disaster, and ensured local citizens will continue to receive the dam’s basic services," the coalition said.

"The SDF’s success against ISIS demonstrates the power of working by, with and through local partner forces fighting ISIS, among their own people, in their own territory," said coalition spokesperson Dorrian. "The SDF, fighting to liberate their own people and lands, have freed more than 8,000 square kilometers of Syria from ISIS since November."

After liberating Tabqa, the General Command of the Euphrates Operations room announced the fourth phase of the campaign of the Euphrates Wrath to liberate Raqqa.

"The General Commanders announced the Euphrates Wrath Operation to resume the fourth phase of the campaign," the SDF said. "After a halt of 15 days, the goal is to liberate the remaining villages around the city of Raqqa and prepare to begin liberating the city."

"The leadership warned all the people to move away from the enemy centers and buildings. Moving to the safe areas temporarily to facilitate the liberalization process," the SDF concluded.

Nine foreign volunteers that fought ISIS arrested by KRG security force
[ARA] At least nine foreign volunteers, who had joined the ranks of the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) to combat ISIS in Rojava-Northern Syria, were incarcerated
Drop the rod and step away witcher hands up!
by the Asayish security force in the Kurdistan region of Iraq, media sources reported on Thursday.

Foreign volunteers are increasingly becoming victim of the problems between the Kurdish parties.

"Internationalists Callum Ross (Rizgar Ciya), Ozgan Ozdil (Dêrsim Agir), Anthonî Degatto (Rustem Fist), Justin Schnepp (Servan Agir), Mirko Bruna (Mirko Cûdî) from Italia, Paola Andolina (Azadî Raperîn) from Italia, Damien Rodriguez (Sêrzad Azad) from the US, Fernando Sanches Grassa (Ciya Azadî) from Spain have been fighting ISIS in the ranks of the YPG [People’s Protection Forces] in Rojava for a while," the pro-PKK Firat News Agency (ANF) reported.

"The foreign volunteers crossed into Southern Kurdistan to go back home from Rojava but they were arrested by KDP forces at an Asayish (public security) checkpoint 1,5 km to Hewler [Erbil]," the agency said.

Macer Gifford, a British volunteer with the YPG, told ARA News that there are dozens of imported muscle that participate in the Kurdish-led operation to take Raqqa.

"Maybe there are 30 [Western] volunteers, or more," he said.

However,
a poor excuse is better than no excuse at all...
this is not without risk for foreign volunteers. "In Manbij the casualty rate [among imported muscle] was very high. Many were maimed, and some badly injured," Gifford said.

Since 3 March, when festivities broke out between the Kurdistan Workers Party (KDP) and the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) in Sinjar (Shingal) district in northern Iraq, tensions have increased between both sides in Syria and Iraq and both have arrested each other’s supporters. Last week, the local Asayish in Rojava affiliated to the Democratic Union Party (PYD) arrested 13 supporters of the pro-Barzani Kurdish National Council (KNC) in Syria.

Now foreign volunteers are also victim of the intra-Kurdish conflict.

Steve Kerr, a foreign volunteer with the YPG, told ARA News that the Kurds should work together "instead of fighting each other."

"Talabani, Barzani, Ocalan, we are all Kurds and let’s get in there and fight ISIS all together. The Kurds should forget their differences, get rid of ISIS, and then solve all the problems and politics later. Get the fighting done first, that’s my philosophy, but sadly it never works that way," he said.

In late March, a Swedish foreign volunteer was allegedly held against his will by a PKK-affiliated force in Sinjar. But he was eventually allowed to return to Sweden. He however denied he was held hostage.

in the southern Russian city of Sochi.

"The peaceful coexistence of the two states -- Paleostine and Israel -- is an indispensable condition to ensure genuine security and stability in this region," Putin said.

Abbas meanwhile said Paleostine "values Russia’s counter terrorism efforts, as well as its contribution to strengthening security and stability in the Middle East, including in Syria," Russia’s RIA Novosti state news agency reported.

After Putin’s meeting with Abbas, Russia’s defense ministry said that Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman had called his Russian counterpart Sergei Shoigu on Thursday.

The two ministers discussed defense cooperation between Russia and Paleostine as well as regional security issues, the ministry said in a statement.

Abbas said Thursday he welcomed "President Trump’s desire to help find a solution" to the Israel-Paleostinian conflict, according to a transcript published by official Paleostinian news agency Wafa.

"I told him that we were completely ready to cooperate with him and undertake efforts to reach a historical peace plan to end the conflict between us and the Israelis," Abbas said.

Abbas said Tuesday that Trump was expected to visit the Paleostinian territories "soon" and that he was ready to meet Israel’s prime minister as part of the US president’s peace efforts.

's army is seeking to head off US-backed forces fighting Islamist murderous Moslems further east, analysts and military sources in Damascus say.

Violence has diminished in parts of central and western Syria after a deal signed last week in the Kazakh capital Astana to introduce four "de-escalation zones" aimed at paving the way for a lasting ceasefire.

7 Israeli Arabs indicted for raising millions for outlawed group
[IsraelTimes] Suspects affiliated with banned Northern Branch of Islamic Movement, deemed a terror group, received cash from The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
and UK.

Ynet has photos of six of the miscreants here.
Seven senior members of the Northern Branch of the Islamic Movement
...the Israeli branch of the Muslim Brotherhood, notorious for funding Hamas, agitating about the Temple Mount via their Mourabitoun cadres, and providing social services to the Arabs of the Galilee...
were charged on Thursday with offenses against state security for raising millions of shekels overseas for their group, which has been outlawed for terrorist activity.

The Northern Branch of the Islamic Movement was outlawed in November 2015. The government charged the group with links to terrorist groups and inciting a wave of violence. "Any person who belongs to this organization or who provides services to it or who acts within its framework is henceforth committing a criminal offense punishable by a prison sentence," a cabinet statement said at the time. The move also allowed for the confiscation of all property belonging to the group.

The seven allegedly continued working for the movement through cover organizations they set up for that purpose. A gag order, placed on the case when the seven were incarcerated
Drop the heater, Studs, or you're hist'try!
in late March and early April, was lifted on Thursday.

According to the charges filed at the Jerusalem District Court, the men used the newly created organizations to collect donations, mainly from Turkey and Britannia, which were put toward terrorist activities. The indictment stated that the men also skimmed a percentage of the funds, which they received in cash, as their commission.

Two of the men were in possession of more than NIS 200,000 ($55,000) in cash when they were arrested.

Six of the men are from the northern Arab town of Umm al-Fahm while the seventh is from East Jerusalem.

The men, who have been in detention for some 45 days, were permitted to see their families for the first time on Thursday at the courthouse. A mini-riot broke out when security staff banned the men from touching or speaking with their wives and children.

The Northern Branch of the Islamic Movement rejects the Oslo peace accords between Israel and the Paleostinians and boycotts national elections on the grounds that they give legitimacy to the institutions of the Jewish state.

Founded in the 1970s, the Islamic Movement is a political organization, religious outreach group and social service provider rolled into one. The movement’s overarching goal is to make Israeli Moslems more religious and owes much of its popularity to providing services often lacking in Israel’s Arab communities. Today the group runs kindergartens, colleges, health clinics, mosques and even a sports league ‐ sometimes under the same roof.

The movement split two decades ago. The more moderate southern branch began fielding candidates for the Knesset in 1996 and is now part of the Joint List, an alliance of several Arab political parties. Three of the Joint List’s 13 current Knesset members are part of the movement.

The northern branch had also funded a group called the Mourabitun, whose protests against Jewish visitors at the Temple Mount have occasionally turned violent. In September last year, Israel banned the group from the Mount.

One of the defendants said in court Thursday that "this will not stop us protecting al-Aqsa or from caring for the weak," referring to the Temple Mount by its Arabic name.

Police requested that the men remain in jug until the end of the legal process.

"They are accused of extensive financial activity for a terrorist organization, which works against a large population," the prosecutor wrote in the request. "Not only does the organization regard the rule of law in the state as an enemy, like other criminals, but it sees the state itself as an enemy, and seeks to destroy it."

A hearing was set for June 1, to allow the defense more time to study the files of the investigation.

Kurdish party office shut down in Syria’s Qamishli, members arrested
[ARA] The Rojava Self-Administration, led by the Democratic Union Party (PYD), has recluse the Kurdish National Council’s (KNC) office in Syris northeastern Qamishli city, after the party reopened the building subsequent to it’s closure last week. 13 members of the KNC were nabbed
Book 'im, Mahmoud!
by the self-administration’s Asayish security forces on Tuesday.

"In a new step of intimidation, and continuing in its authoritarian approach, the Democratic Union Party’s ( PYD) gunnies stormed the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Kurdish National Council in the city of Qamishli ‐ the Siyahi district ‐ and closed it for the second time after it was reopened following a sit-in in front of the office condemning the closure," the KNC said in a statement obtained by ARA News.

Furthermore, 13 members of the KNC were arrested, including Fasla Yousif, Narin Metini, Mahmoud Mullah, Muhsin Daher, Abdul Samed Khalef Bro, Fethi Gedo, Ahmed Aje, Mahmoud Haj Ali, Ferhad Temi, Mouhamed Amin Husam , Nuredin Fatah, Tahi Hesaf, Qasim Sherif .

"The Democratic Union Party took this step to eliminate KNC’s opposition voices and to continue forward with their [PYD’s] project that aims at ending political life in Syria’s Kurdistan by force of arms, taking advantage of the international consensus on the priority of fighting terrorism, beside forcing the Council to recognize their administration in order to cover their failure in managing the Kurdish region," the KNC said.

"The terrorist practices of this party show the falsity of their claims and their democratic slogans. And stresses their fear of the national democratic approach of the Council [KNC] and isolate them from the masses that are increasing day after day. However,
corruption finds a dozen alibis for its evil deeds...
this will rather increase our determination to move forward in our national project to defend our people and stand in the face of the practices of this party, which emptied the Kurdish region to serve the agendas of the Baath regime," the KNC said.

After several PKK and YBS fighters were killed in festivities between the KDP-linked Rojava Peshmerga forces and the PKK-affiliated Shingal Resistance Units (YBS) on 3 March in the Yezidi area of Sinjar (also known as Shingal) in northern Iraq, the Rojava Self-Administration urged the KNC parties ‐backed by the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP)‐ to register their offices.

Furthermore, the Asayish security forces led by the Democratic Union Party (PYD) in Syria’s Kurdish region (Rojava) have arrested over 40 members of the pro-Barzani Kurdish National Council (KNC) after the Sinjar festivities.

This while the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP)-led security forces arrested 23 opposition protestors, of which six are still being held in prison in Iraqi Kurdistan.

The Human Rights Watch (HRW) in a statement to ARA News called on both the PYD-led and KDP-led administrations in Iraq and Syria to release prisoners that were arrested after festivities between Kurdish forces in Sinjar on 3 March.

In late April, the security forces of the PYD’s Rojava Self-Administration reclosed an office of the Kurdish National Council (KNC) in Qamishli city, in northeastern Syria, after the KNC decided to reopen it.

On 7 May, five members of the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Syria (KDP-S) were released along with two members of the Kurdish Future Movement after two months of imprisonment in Kobani.

Zintanis rubbish ICC prosecutor Bensouda’s Saif Al-Islam claims
[Libya Herald] The Zintan Military Council has rejected claims by the International Criminal Court (ICC) that it is now holding Saif al-Islam Qadaffy and that he recently survived an liquidation attempt.

They described the allegations by ICC chief prosecutor Fatou Bensouda as "completely false".

The comments from the military council came after Bensouda told the UN Security Council she had received unconfirmed reports that someone had tried to kill Qadaffy’s son. She also said that her office had received reliable information that Saif had been handed over to the town’s military council by al-Ajmal al-Atiri, commander of Zintan’s Abubakr al-Siddiq battalion who first seized him as he tried to flee across the desert in 2011.

There have been rumours, denied angrily in Zintan, that Saif had in fact been released. It was also said that he had simply been moved to a different place of detention.

Apart from a one-minute TV interview in 2013 Saif has only been seen in a Zintan courtroom when he was charged with trying to escape and in 2014 by video link to Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
’s Hadba prison at the start of his trial along with 37 other top regime figures. In July 2015, he was one of eight of those defendants found guilty and sentenced to death by the court.

The UN has condemned the trial as unsatisfactory while Bensouda and the ICC have continued to demand that Saif should be handed over to the court in the Hague in answer to a warrant issued for him in 2011. At the time, warrants were also issued for his father and Qadaffy’s security supremo Abdullah Senussi
...former Libyan supremo Muammar Qadaffy's right hand man. He looks like you always expected Luca Brasi to look....
, who was also sentenced to death by the Tripoli court. Both Saif and Senussi were accused by the ICC of war crimes and crimes against humanity.

Islamic State militants say killed 15 tribesmen in North Sinai
Fifty percent more on this story from yesterday, when only ten tribesmen were reported killed.
[AlAhram] The Sinai Tribes Union has vowed to avenge its members who were killed by the holy warrior group.

The Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
holy warrior group claimed it killed 15 rustics in North Sinai on Wednesday, in the latest episode of festivities between the holy warriors and local tribes.

In a statement published on Thursday through its affiliated online Amaq agency, the IS group claimed that its affiliates in North Sinai ambushed a group of what it described as "pro-Egyptian army" rustics at a checkpoint west of the El-Perth area in the governorate, killing 15 of them.

The group stated that it killed Salem Abu Lafy, a leading figure in the El-Tarabin tribe, one of Sinai's largest clans, during the ambush.

On Wednesday the Sinai Tribes Union, a coalition of local tribes opposed to the IS group, confirmed in a statement on their official Facebook page the death of Abu Lafy during fighting with holy warriors, without disclosing specifics.

The union vowed to avenge his death and the death of other members killed by the holy warrior group.

The union also warned that the tribes, especially the El-Tarabin, would punish those who support the IS holy warrior group, harbour the holy warriors, or withhold information about the group from the tribes or the authorities.

On Wednesday, the AP said unnamed security sources had confirmed 10 rustics were killed in the festivities.

In late April, the El-Tarabin, Sawarka and Rumeilat tribes publicly declared they would "cleanse" North Sinai of the holy warrior group, in cooperation with the Egyptian armed forces.

Egypt’s army and police forces have been battling a holy warrior Islamist insurgency in North Sinai centered in the cities of Arish, Rafah and Sheikh Zuweid for several years, with hundreds killed on both sides.

The IS group has also killed Sinai residents, who it described as collaborators with the Egyptian authorities.

Turkish court sentences notorious British ISIS member wanted by US, UK
More on this story from the other day.
[RUDAW.NET] A court in The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
has charged Aine Davis, 33, of west London with being member of a terrorist organization and sentenced to a seven-and-a-half-year prison term, according to a BBC report.

Davis is said to have been a member of the notorious gang of four British jihadists that other members called "The Beatles", including ISIS executioner "Jihadi John" or Mohammed Emwazi.

Emwazi is said to have been killed in a dronezap last year.

The quartet are suspected to be the ISIS men who brutalized Western hostages in Syria, subjecting them to harsh treatment such as routine beatings and waterboarding as well as mock executions. They are also suspected of having beheaded American journalists Steven Sotloff and James Foley.

Davis is said to have been smuggled out of Syria to Turkey by ISIS. He was later tossed in the clink
Youse'll never take me alive coppers!... [BANG!]... Ow!... I quit!
in 2015 in a raid on a villa in Silivri, west of Istanbul. Turkish officials stated that at the time of his arrest, he was in the process of plotting an attack on Istanbul to coincide with the attacks on Gay Paree in 2015 which left 130 people dead.

At the trial held on Tuesday, a Jordanian national and Saudi national were also convicted on ties to ISIS and were given the same prison sentence as Davis.

Davis denied involvement with the holy warrior group. "I am not IS. I went to Syria because there was oppression in my country," he said. Speaking in English, he told the court, "I want to make clear I am innocent of the charges. I don't even know why this case has taken so long to judge. I just want my freedom." Davis claimed he went to Syria on two occasions to participate in humanitarian work as reported by BBC.

The case took Turkish prosecutors 18 months to complete as authorities struggled with evidence in an attempt to prove a weightier charge that would have imposed a longer prison sentence on Davis.

Both British and US authorities had lobbied for Davis’ extradition to their own countries, hoping to put him on trial there.

So far, Davis holds the highest profile of British nationals to be arrested on ISIS related terror charges.

Shocking new DNA study reveals that human beings are divided into two genders!
[Hot Air] There’s some additional bad news out there for the "party of science" (as the Democrats have taken to calling themselves) and particularly for transgender advocates. But even if you have no interest in such social justice topics, a new study published by geneticists in Israel is still pretty fascinating.

The Liberty Council has a report this week on new research material coming from Israel’s Weizmann Institute of Science, where scientists have undertaken an exhaustive study of genetic differences between the two genders which go far beyond just what’s found in their 23rd chromosomal pair or what sorts of genitalia they display externally. And some of this research could have far reaching implications in terms of fighting diseases and solving other medical mysteries on top of sorting out this "gender vs sex" question which liberals keep trying to push.
A recent study released from Israel’s Weizmann Institute of Science refutes propaganda from LGBT activists who detach gender completely from sex and promote that men can become so-called "women" by merely "identifying" as female, and vice-versa.

Professor Shmuel Pietrokovski and Dr. Moran Gershoni, both researchers from the Weizmann Institute’s Molecular Genetics Department, "looked closely at around 20,000 protein-coding genes, sorting them by sex and searching for differences in expression in each tissue. They eventually identified around 6,500 genes with activity that was biased toward one sex or the other in at least one tissue, adding to the already major biological differences between men and women."
You can access the study here in .pdf form and browse through it. They discovered all manner of fascinating things, some of which seem obvious in retrospect while others are quite surprising. They identified specific genes which are directly associated with hair growth in skin cells. These genes are far more widespread in men than women, showing up in different places. (The result of that should be obvious.) One of the more surprising developments (at least to me) came in the area of mammary glands. Both males and females have all of the "equipment" to support lactation, but it’s almost never seen in men. The study identified specific genes in men which apparently turn off that process since it’s not needed. Some others would be easier to predict, such as higher levels of muscle building genes in men as opposed to higher levels of genes which are related to fat storage in women. The list goes on.

Aetna Is Latest Health Insurer to Quit Obamacare Markets
[BLOOMBERG] Aetna Inc. will leave the few remaining states where it had been selling Obamacare
... aka the Affordable Care Act, an ineptly designed and worse executed piece of legislation designed to bring 17 percent of the U.S. economy under the direct control of the government. The previous iteration, known as Hillarycare, was laughed out of Washington. This stinker was passed on a party-line vote without being read...
plans next year, making it the latest health insurer to pull out of the health law as Republicans attack the program as failing and work to dismantle it.

While the move is likely to attract outsize political attention, the decision affects just Delaware and Nebraska. The Hartford, Connecticut-based insurer already said last year it would pull out of 11 states, and in the last month announced plans to exit Iowa and Virginia.

"At this time have completely exited the exchanges," Aetna said in a statement Wednesday. The insurer will also stop selling non-Obamacare individual plans in Delaware and Nebraska.

Russia charges three suspects with terror in St. Petersburg metro bombing
[Iran Press TV] Russian prosecutors have charged three suspects over involvement in last month’s bombing attack in the Saint Petersburg metro.

Russia's Investigative Committee said on Thursday that the three, Bakhram Ergashev, Ibragimzhon Ermatov and Makhamadyusuf Mirzaalimov, were charged with involvement in a "terrorist act."

Investigators said the trio was also charged with having illegally used explosives in the April 3 attack, which killed 15 people. The committee added that seven other suspects will be charged in the near future.

Meanwhile,
...back at the Hubba Hubba Club, Big Shirley was still trying to snatch Nunzio bald-headed. She was already halfway there...
Russia’s Federal Security Service
... the successor to the KGB...
(FSB) said that another suspect head been tossed in the clink
... anything you say can and will be used against you, whether you say it or not...
on Thursday over links to the metro bombing.

The FSB said the individual who bore the last name Ermatov had reportedly been involved in the "illicit trafficking of explosives linked to" the bombing.

A group suspected of links to al-Qaeda has grabbed credit for the attack, saying the bombing was a response to Russia’s involvement in the war against holy warriors, apparently making a reference to Moscow’s campaign against bandidos turbans in Syria.

Maxine Waters: I Don't Support Trump Firing Comey, I Would Support Hillary Clinton Firing Comey
[REALCLEARPOLITICS] NBC's Peter Alexander grills Rep. Comrade Maxine Waters (D-Cali.) for her displeasure at President Trump firing FBI Director James Comey after she had announced in January that he has lost all credibility after attending a classified briefing conducted by the now-former director.

In March, Waters issued a blurb that read Comey "advanced Russia's misinformation campaign."

"I do not necessarily support the president's decision," Waters said. " I think that if the president would have fired him when he first came in, he would not have to be in a position now where he is trying to make up a story about why. It does not meet the smell test."

However,
by candlelight every wench is handsome...
in the interview Wednesday on MSNBC, asked if she would be okay with a hypothetical President Hillary Clinton
... former first lady, former secretary of state, former presidential candidate, sometimes described by her supporters as the smartest woman in the world, usually described by the rest of us as a crook...
dismissing Comey from his position, Waters said yes.

"If she had won the White House, I believe that given what he did to her, and what he tried to do, she should have fired him. Yes," the Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, Democrat said.

"So she should have fired him but had he shouldn't fire him. This is why I'm confused," Alexander said to Waters.

"No, no you're not confused," Waters told Alexander.

"I am confused," Alexander responded.

#4  Waters and other Donks complain about the timing of the Comey firing? If Trump fired Comey right after his inauguration, they would still complain about the timing. If Trump fired Comey on the last day of his presidency, they would complain. So who really gives a $hit what they think about the firing.

And yes, Waters is a moron. Were she white, she would still be a moron.

Intelligence and sanity do not figure into the selection of representatives to the entitlement class. Unfailing loyalty to the cause is the only imperative.
