Mercer: Manchester Massacre and the Immigration Vexation
[American Thinker] "ISIS" did not attack in Manchester; a second-generation Muslim, son of immigrants, did.

The Islamic State may have inspired 22-year-old Salman Abedi, but ISIS in the Middle East did not murder 22 youngsters and injure dozens at a pop-tart performance.

ISIS, no doubt, is pleased Salman Abedi has killed in Manchester. The outfit is eager to continue providing inspiration, even training, to his kind. But the ephemeral ISIS did not send Abedi and his ilk to kill Britons.

The Abedis, who fly the Libyan flag outside the family home, were invited into England. Policy makers and power brokers in the West have invited Muslim immigrants to live among us in the belief that, underneath the burqa, the abaya and full-body swaddle they were just like us.

Almost all these Muslim killers are legitimate immigrants. Before the Manchester murderer came Knifeman Khalid Masood, on Westminster Bridge (March, 2017). There were the immigrants who carved up Drummer Lee Rigby, in Woolwich, and the Muslim who gutted an American woman in central London, both in 2013. It’s hard to keep up.

This is how citizenship in the West has been rubbished. Not by ISIS, but by your representatives: State officials who regard all of us impersonally and imperiously. The same overlords squint at the great unwashed of England or Middle America from behind their parapets in Whitehall and Washington. The same sorts despise us all for wanting neighborhoods that are safe, maybe even a tad monocultural.

While the Muslims who strike at our families live among us, they’re not of us

Look, language mediates behavior. To properly respond to the vipers that elect to kill Americans, Europeans and Englishmen, we need to closely describe them.

To be vested in linguistic accuracy is to be vested in the truth. The closer language cleaves to reality, the greater the likelihood that correct, and corrective, action will follow.

CIA's Morell: The Obama regime "did nothing" to stop RU interference in the presidential campaign.
[Daily Caller] Michael Morell, the former acting director of the CIA under President Obama, said that the Obama administration "did nothing" to stop Russian interference in the presidential campaign.
Why stop it? It's the perfect post-election political exploitation tool. See CIA 'regime change' techniques.
Morell, who left the CIA in 2013 and supported Hillary Clinton for president last year, appeared on "CBS This Morning" to discuss testimony that former CIA Director John Brennan gave in a House Intelligence Committee hearing on Tuesday.

Brennan revealed for the first time that he was so concerned about Russia’s attempts to meddle in the election that he contacted Alexander Bortnikov, Russia’s FSB chief, on Aug. 4 to warn him against continuing its active measures against the U.S.

President Obama is said to have warned Russian president Vladimir Putin the following month against interfering in the election. But the Kremlin appears to have not been deterred.

"What struck me...is that the U.S. government was concerned enough last summer about Russian interference in the election that they had the CIA director make contact with his Russian counterpart and tell them to stop," Morell said Wednesday.

"So my question is what did the Obama administration do after that, after they learned that the warning had fallen on deaf ears," said Morell.

"Well it appears they did nothing," host Norah O’Donnell chimed in.

"It appears they did nothing," Morell agreed.

#3  Another red line crossed. Missing from all the coverage about Trump's alleged collusion with the Russians was even the slightest acknowledgement that Baraq Obama had eight years to do something about cyber security and he failed miserably. Also missing was any discussion whatsoever about attempts to make the DNC email server secure from cyber attacks and the question that immediately occurred to me: If these people can't even manage an email server how are they going to run the country?

Manchester terrorist's sister: He wanted to avenge Muslim kids
The sister of of terrorist Salman Abedi, the terrorist who committed the attack at a Manchester concert hall earlier this week, said that her brother’s act was one of revenge for the killing of Muslim children in Syria.

In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Jomana Abedi said that she was surprised that her brother had carried out the attack, as she had known him to be a "kind" and "loving" person.

However, she went on to explain that she believed his act to be one of "revenge."

"I think he saw children - Muslim children - dying everywhere, and wanted revenge," she said.

"He saw the explosives America drops on children in Syria, and he wanted to revenge.
And here I thought it's all about Israeli occupation of Palestine.

Islamist suspects detained in Berlin drug raids
[DW] Nine men - four of them linked to the German capital's "violent Islamist" scene - are being held after multiple early morning raids. Police say they confiscated weapons, electronics and narcotics.

Officers raided six sites across Berlin on Wednesday and detained nine people, who police said were wanted on suspicion of organized drug dealing.

As well as weapons found at the addresses, police confiscated drugs and electronic devices.

In a statement, Berlin police said three of those detained had outstanding arrest warrants, while a fourth was due to appear in court on Wednesday over a previous offense.

The other five men are still under investigation.

Hundreds of officers, including police special units, were deployed for Wednesday's early morning raids, which took place in the Berlin neighborhoods of Neukölln, Köpenick, Mariendorf and Zehlendorf.t

The German capital has remained on high alert since Tunisian migrant Anis Amri plowed a stolen truck into a Christmas market last December, killing 12 people. Authorities were criticized for failing to arrest and deport Amri, who was a failed asylum seeker and a known drug pusher.

Manchester Arena attack, day 4: more raids, more arrests, no more info shared with leaky U.S.
Key points from the Telegraph liveblog as of 8:47 a.m. local time:
German intelligence sources said Salman Abedi was in Dusseldorf four days before the attack.

Greater Manchester Police have stopped sharing security information about the Manchester attack with the US following a series of leaks, it was reported today.

Two men were arrested this morning in connection with Monday's terror attack in Manchester as investigators probed a "network" linked to the suicide bomber. One man was arrested after a property was searched in the Withington area of Manchester, while another was detained elsewhere in the city, Greater Manchester Police said.

The arrests take the total number of men in custody to eight after a series of raids across Manchester, Wigan and Nuneaton, Warwickshire.

A woman had also been arrested in Manchester last night during an armed raid on a block of flats in Blackley but was later released without charge.

The latest arrests came after detectives carried out a controlled explosion as they searched a property in the Moss Side area of Manchester in the early hours of Thursday.

Abedi's parents were so worried about him being radicalised in Manchester that they got him to join them in Libya and confiscated his passport. It was returned when he said he wanted to go on a pilgrimage to Mecca.

The jihadi clan: Is Manchester bomber's family part of global terror network? Killer is linked to Paris and Brussels attackers, his Libyan rebel father is an al-Qaeda supporter and brother 'was plotting own ISIS atrocity'

[DailyMail] BLUF: The Abedi family is seriously connected, and all known wolves -- or should have been.

Papa Ramadan Abedi lists on his resume the Al Qaeda-linked Libyan Islamic Fighting group and the Salafi Jihadi movement (the most extreme sect of Salafism, from which Al-Qaeda and ISIS hail), and openly supported Al Nusra on his Facebook page. He returned to Libya after Khaddafy was killed in 2011, but while in England worked in airport security.

Mama Samia Tabbal, a nuclear scientist, is a close friend of the wife of Abu Anas al-Libi, an Al-Qaeda veteran who was snatched off the streets of Tripoli in 2013 by US special forces. Al-Libi was involved in the 1998 bombings of two US embassies in Africa and died in U.S. custody in 2015.

Younger brother Hashem Abedi was active on ISIS-supporting sites. The Libyan security force said Hashem had links to Islamic State and was planning to carry out a terror attack in Tripoli.

Older brother Ismail Abedi, who was arrested on Tuesday, was once reported to a counter-terrorism unit after concerns were raised by members of the Muslim community.

Various people who knew Salman -- classmates, a neighbour, relatives, and members of the Muslim community -- reported him to the authorities as a terror threat over the past five years.

The three men arrested together early yesterday are Adel Forjani, 47, uncle of the ISIS-inspired killer, and two men thought to be his sons.

Sources told The Daily Telegraph that there were two separate bomb factories, with the chemicals mixed in the rented Airbnb flat in Granby Row before the bomb itself was assembled elsewhere. It was not clear if the second flat had been discovered.

Authorities tell ABC News they found a kind of bomb-making workshop in Salman's home and he had apparently stockpiled enough chemicals to make additional bombs

#1  Earlier, Abdel-Basit Haroun, a former security official in Libya, told The Associated Press that he personally knew Ramadan Abedi [father of bomber] and that the elder Abedi was a member of the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group in the 1990s. The group had links to Al Qaeda.

Although the LIFG disbanded, Haroun said the father belongs to the Salafi Jihadi movement, the most extreme sect of Salafism and from which Al Qaeda and the Islamic State group hail. Haroun added that Abedi, also known as Abu Ismail, had returned to the Libyan capital of Tripoli.

The LIFG was founded in 1995, and was involved in attempts to assassinate then-Libyan leader Moammar Qaddafi as well as violent clashes with Benghazi police. In 2002, a senior LIFG commander, Anas al-Libi, who also was a companion of Al Qaeda founder Usama bin Laden, was detained by U.S. forces for his role in the 1998 bombings of the American Embassies in Kenya and Tanzania, which killed more than 200 people.

Emphasis added.

Mr. Ramadan Abedi aka Abu Ismail has a very interesting history and record of prior terrorist connections, to include a desire to see Moammar Qaddafi removed from power.

News Network offers $100k reward for details leading to arrest of Seth Rich's killer
[Wash Times] One America News Network (OAN) is offering a $100,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of a suspect in former DNC staffer Seth Rich’s murder case.

The Herring Networks, Inc. media company OAN joins a number of individuals and groups that are willing to pay for information that solves the July 10, 2016, killing of Mr. Rich. The election-season murder continues to spark conspiracy theories based on the suggestion that Mr. Rich provided DNC data to the anti-secrecy website WikiLeaks.

"One America News believes solving this case -- and bringing Rich’s murderer to justice -- is essential to exposing the truth for the American people," OAN’s Greta Wall reported Monday. "We are offering a $100,000 reward for any information that leads to the arrest of a suspect in the case. If you have any information, please email us at tips@oann.com."

Others offering rewards include the Washington, D.C. Police Department ($25,000); WikiLeaks ($20,000); and Republican strategist Jack Burkman ($130,000).

Whistleblower: Obama admin knew gang members were part of illegal immigrant surge
[Wash Times] The Obama administration knowingly let in at least 16 admitted MS-13 gang members who arrived at the U.S. as illegal immigrant teenagers in 2014, a top senator said Wednesday, citing internal documents that showed the teens were shipped to juvenile homes throughout the country.

Sen. Ron Johnson, chairman of the Senate Homeland Security Committee, said a whistleblower turned over Customs and Border Protection documents from 2014 detailing the 16 people who were caught crossing the border.

"CBP apprehended them, knew they were MS-13 gang members, and they processed and disbursed them into our communities," Mr. Johnson, Wisconsin Republican, said.
CBP surely responding to some DoJ directive or other. Could we possibly be provided copies ?
The gang members were part of the surge of UAC, or "unaccompanied alien children," as the government labels them, who overwhelmed the Obama administration in 2014, leaving Homeland Security struggling to staunch the flow from Central America.

Officials at the time said the children should be treated as refugees fleeing horrific conditions back home -- though security analysts said the children were prime recruiting territory for gangs already in the U.S.

Tea Party Group Calls for Investigation Into Leaks, Unmasking
[Free Beacon] 'There are clearly rogue government officials, with high-level clearances, engaging in criminal activity involving classified information.'

The cofounder of the largest Tea Party group is trying to ratchet up pressure on the House and Senate intelligence committees to investigate illegal Trump administration leaks and the Obama administration's unmasking of U.S. officials and other citizens during the presidential campaign and transition.

Jenny Beth Martin, the cofounder of the Tea Party Patriots, sent a letter on Wednesday to the leaders of the House and Senate intelligence committees pressing them to investigate the illegal release of classified information to the media and the unmasking of American citizens as part of their wide-ranging probe into alleged Russian interference and meddling in the last presidential election.

"I write as president of an organization with over 2 million, an organization that has directly felt the heavy hand of persecution by the very government we support with our taxes," she wrote in the letter. "Our concern is that your investigation's emphasis and focus on our government, again illegally interfering in the lives of law-abiding citizens, will go unaddressed with no accountability."

RT: Obama used NSA & FBI to spy on Trump – veteran CIA officer
[RT] The mighty CIA has fallen victim to a major breach, with WikiLeaks revealing the true scope of the Agency’s ability for cyber-espionage. Its tools seem to be aimed at ordinary citizens – your phone, your car, your TV, even your fridge can become an instrument of surveillance in the hands of the CIA. How does the CIA use these tools, and why do they need them in the first place? And as WikiLeaks promises even more revelations, how is all of this going to shape the already tense relationship between new president and the intelligence community? A man who has spent over two decades in the CIA’s clandestine service – Gary Berntsen is on SophieCo.

Nato breaks partnership deadlock after Turkish veto
[DAWN] NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A cautionary tale of cost-benefit analysis....
reached a deal on Tuesday to unblock partnerships with around 40 non-member countries which had been paralysed by a dispute between The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
and Austria, officials said.

Turkey, with the second-biggest military in NATO, had vetoed all cooperation with neutral Austria after Vienna called for the European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
to halt membership talks with Ankara.

That in turn blocked the whole partnership programme with dozens of other non-NATO countries covering most of Europe, plus many countries in the Middle East and Asia.

But on Monday the 28 NATO nations agreed to change the system so that cooperation "will be planned on an individual basis, rather than collectively," said a NATO official who asked not to be identified.

"This will substantially reduce the risk of blockages to cooperation with partners across the board," he said. Turkey is expected to uphold its veto on Austrian participation, officials said.

Gowdy: Surveillance Programs Won't Be Reauthorized Until Questions on ‘Unmasking' Are Answered
[Free Beacon] Rep. Trey Gowdy (R., S.C.) on Wednesday said government surveillance programs would not receive the necessary congressional reauthorization for them to continue at the end of the year unless officials answer questions on who in the intelligence community unmasked certain individuals.
Sorry, the train left the station several hours ago.
Gowdy had asked former CIA Director John Brennan about the unmasking process during Tuesday's House Intelligence Committee hearing, Fox News reports. The unmasking process involves revealing the identities of Americans who were collected in communications with foreigners that are monitored by the United States Government.

Fox News host Bill Hemmer on Wednesday asked Gowdy about the issue.

"We're not going to reauthorize these surveillance programs if the American people are not satisfied that their security is going to be safeguarded," Gowdy told Hemmer.
And you're going to stop 'Deep State' intelligence how ?
"The unmasking within the intelligence community, that is a privilege to be able to request that a U.S. person's name be unmasked and I want to know who's making the request, what is the evidentiary basis of that request," Gowdy continued.

Gowdy also said that requests made late in an official's tenure should be alarming as well.

Susan Rice has been accused of unmasking President Donald Trump's associates while she was former President Barack Obama's national security advisor.

Evidence Piling up That Seth Rich Leaked DNC Emails to Wikileaks
[Stream.org] A second person also came forward last weekend, anonymously posting on the /pol/ political channel of social media bulletin board 4chan. They said that that many in D.C. know that Rich leaked the emails, but were afraid to come forward. The anonymous person said that the DNC is terrified. In a second post, the person hints that the labor organization SEIU knows something about his death.

Amateur sleuths posting on the 4chan and Reddit found accounts that belonged to Rich. They were fairly easy to identify due to his unique personality quirks. They had names like Pandas4Progress. His posts reflected his preference for Sanders in the election. They also reveal his disappointment with the Democrats’ rigged party system.

Strangely, his posts have been edited since his accounts were discovered. His email address was removed from one post -- notably the email address identified the anonymous account as his.

by armed police outside Buckingham Palace the day after the UK increased its terror alert has been charged with possession of an offensive weapon.

At least eight officers surrounded Jaheim Meade in the gardens next to St James's Park this morning ahead of the Queen's planned attendance at an event at St Paul's Cathedral. He was charged this afternoon with possession of an offensive weapon.

A Met Police front man said: 'A man who was arrested in The Mall has been charged. Jahiem Meade, 22, of Hackney, was charged tonight with possession of an offensive weapon. He will appear in jug at a magistrates' court on Thursday.'

The Queen and Prince Philip are said to have passed by in a car just 30 seconds before the incident. They were attending a service to mark the centenary of the Order of the British Empire.

Congressman Franks: Comey Meeting with Mueller Before RU Testimony is ‘Collusion'
[PJ] WASHINGTON ‐ Rep. Trent Franks (R-Ariz.) told PJM that recently appointed special counsel Robert Mueller should "recuse himself" from the Russia probe due to his personal friendship with former FBI Director James Comey.

Mueller served 12 years as FBI director under presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama. For two of those years, during the Bush administration, Comey was deputy attorney general.

Comey’s congressional testimony about the FBI investigation into possible collusion between Russian officials and the Trump campaign was reportedly postponed so he could speak with Mueller in advance. Franks called the delay "collusion."

In an exclusive interview, Franks was asked if he thinks the Russia investigation is going to hinder President Trump’s agenda.

"It will be a challenge, but here’s what I think will happen. Now, who knows what ancillary things will come from it, that’s the problem with any sort of special counsel is that they go in all different directions at once. And, of course, Mr. Mueller is a very well-known very close friend of Mr. Comey’s ‐ that alone should cause him to recuse himself," Franks, a member of the House Judiciary Committee, said Tuesday on Capitol Hill.

Deep State 'Team Klingon' becoming angry and frustrated with Trey Gowdy
[Free Beacon] Former CIA Agent Phil Mudd said Rep. Trey Gowdy (R., S.C.) "ought to have his ass kicked" while discussing Gowdy questioning former CIA Director John Brennan about collusion between Russia and President Donald Trump's campaign.

CNN's Alyson Camerota and Chris Cuomo spoke with Mudd on Wednesday morning to discuss Brennan's testimony in front of the House Intelligence Committee.

CNN played a clip of Gowdy questioning Brennan over whether he had "evidence" rather than "intelligence" of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian state actors.

When Gowdy asked if there was evidence of the collusion, Brennan said, "I was aware of information and intelligence that revealed contacts and interactions between Russian officials and U.S. persons involved in the Trump campaign."

"Did collusion exist?" Camerota asked Mudd. "That's the burning question everybody wants answered."

"Trey Gowdy ought to have his ass kicked," Mudd said. "He knows the difference between intelligence and evidence."

"If you are an American citizen and the National Security Agency collects intelligence that is intercepts of Russians, who report what you've said, do you think it's fair to go to court and say that is evidence that you did something wrong?" Mudd asked rhetorically.
Just for the record: The term 'former Klingon Agent' is a misnomer.

Our enemies will remember our response to their misadventures: Air Force chief
[DAWN] Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman said on Monday that Pakistain will give a "befitting response" to any misadventure "from the enemy".

He made the remarks after taking part in Air Force exercises and flying a Mirage fighter jet while on a visit to the Qadri Air Base in Skardu. The Air chief also reviewed the exercises and operational preparedness of Pakistain Air Force (PAF).

The air chief said the exercises were the part of PAF’s routine training, adding: "PAF is a battle-hardened force and we continue to ensure our operational preparedness 24/7."

Jakarta suicide bombing kills three police officers
[DAWN] A suicide kaboom attack outside a busy bus terminal in the Indonesian capital Jakarta on Wednesday killed three coppers, the latest assault to hit the Moslem-majority country as it struggles with a surge of terror plots.

Several other coppers and civilians were maimed when two bombers launched the attack in a street next to the station, which sent panicked people running for their lives and clouds of black smoke billowing into the sky.

Human body parts and shattered glass were strewn across the road following the attack, which happened at about 9:00 pm (1400 GMT) as police were helping to secure a parade by a local group outside the terminal in the working-class district.

It was not clear who was behind the attack but Indonesia, the world's most populous Moslem-majority country, has been on high alert after a string of plots and attacks in recent times by Death Eaters inspired by the Islamic State

...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates...
Emir were true or the they were published on the website of the Qatari news agency (QNA) via hackers, the political scene which resulted from the media war on Wednesday confirms that the unanimity image of Riyadh summit was falsely promoted by Al Saud regime.

The latest reports stress that UAE banned the Qatari news websites on its cyber system and that Saudi, Emirates and Bahrain withdrew their envoys to Doha which indicates that the diplomatic escalation proves the depth of the political rifts among the Gulf countries.

According to statements attributed to the Qatari leader, Emir Hamad Al Thani said that Iran is a major Islamic force which has an important role in the region and that Hezbollah is a resistance group.

According to the statements, Al Thani also considered that it is unwise to confront Iran, adding that some neighboring countries have ambitions in Qatar.

Later, QNA announced that its website was hacked and that the statements are untrue; however, the Saudi and Emirati media outlets insisted on lashing out the Qatari statements, accusing Doha of causing partition among the Arab countries.

KSA and UAE media outlets also considered that Doha devoted all its capabilities to be the voice of the murderous Moslem groups, describing the Qatari step as a disaster.

Eight police killed in two Kenya roadside bombs near Somali border: governor
[AlAhram] Five coppers were killed Wednesday when their vehicle hit a roadside kaboom in northeastern Kenya, a local governor said, just hours after a similar blast claimed three police lives.

The officers were travelling in a convoy with Mandera county governor Ali Roba between the towns of Arabia and Fino near the Somali border when one of the vehicles hit an Improvised Explosive Device (IED).

"Unfortunately, I lost five of my security officers including my personal bodyguard at an attack on my convoy," Roba wrote on his Facebook page, saying that he was not injured in the blast.

Earlier on Wednesday a vehicle carrying three coppers was driving towards the regional town of Garissa further south when it struck a similar device close to the Liboi border post.

"They all was struck down in his prime after their vehicle hit an Improvised Explosive Device," said a regional police officer, on condition of anonymity.

Police front man George Kinoti confirmed the earlier incident, saying: "There was an attack this morning and we lost officers."

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for either bombing but Kenya's eastern border with Somalia is notoriously restive and prone to attacks staged by al-Qaeda-linked Shabaab hard boys.

The deadly blasts came a day after police warned of increased Islamist activity in the area.

Islamic holy warriors "are dispatching operatives into parts of north eastern region to lay IEDs along routes used by our security patrols in efforts to frustrate our security operations at the border areas," the police statement said.

The Shabaab is fighting to overthrow the internationally-backed government in Mogadishu but began attacking Kenya in 2011 after Nairobi ordered its troops into Somalia to fight the hard boys.

India-Pakistan
The secular myth
[DAWN] IN a recent address, Chaudhry Nisar hit out at political opponents by classifying them as ’secular’ and equating the term with ’non-believing’. Clearly, the interior minister needs tuition in history and political philosophy.

There is no simple thing, place or peoples called the ’secular’, the ’religious’, the ’West’, ’good’ or ’evil’. Each carries multiple, contradictory meanings and is subject to historical interpretation. Only political manipulators use these as fixed and oppositional categories in order to create divisions and distrust. Debates around secularism often follow religious wars or conflict and, like many countries, Pakistain also faces this dilemma.

Secularism is a philosophy rooted in the 16th century, when European Protestants struggled against the rule of the exploitative Catholic Church. These dissenters were not without religion, or la-deen -- they simply wanted social, political and economic freedoms from the tyranny of the Holy See. Secularisation is the result of the social and political processes that followed, influenced by rising capitalism and scientific discoveries. The tumults of secularisation spanned a century, up until the Treaty of Westphalia (1648). Still, this bottom-up history does not mean that all Western societies are unimpeachably or completely secular today. One visit by the Pope to any European country will confirm the secular paradox.

in Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
, security forces reported on Wednesday.

The Special Deterrence Force (SDF) said Hashim Abedi, 20, was arrested on Tuesday at 8:30 PM local time while he was receiving LYD 4500 transferred to him from his brother to carry out a terrorist attack in Tripoli.

"He was under security surveillance for about a month and a half," the SDF reported in its Facebook page.

Preliminary interrogation with Hashim has revealed that the two brothers are members of the radical group of ISIS and that he had enough information about Manchester bombing.

"Hashim left Britannia on April 04, 2017, and he was in constant contact with his brother Salman prior to the bombing," the SDF said.

Salman Abedi, a dual Libyan-British citizen, detonated an bomb inside Manchester Arena Monday night killing 22 people.

Careful not to spook Salman by surveilling or detaining his older brother back in Albion. The focus of the operation is Libya. We're seasoned intelligence professionals. What could possibly go wrong ?

I highly recommend McPhee's book. She has done an absolutely superb job in compiling a huge amount of information on the Boston marathon bombing.

Missing surveillance aircraft found in southern Al-Kufra, pilot dead
[Libya Observer] The air force of Dignity Operation forces led by Khalifa Haftar
... served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969. He became a prisoner of war in Chad in 1987. While held prisoner, he and his fellow officers formed a group hoping to overthrow Qadaffy. He was released around 1990 in a deal with the United States government and spent nearly two decades in the United States, gaining US citizenship. In 1993, while living in the United States, he was convicted in absentia of crimes against the Jamahiriya and sentenced to death. Haftar held a senior position in the anti-Qadaffy forces in the 2011 Libyan Civil War. In 2014 he was commander of the Libyan Army when the General National Congress (GNC) refused to give up power in accordance with its term of office. Haftar launched a campaign against the GNC and its Islamic fundamentalist allies. His campaign allowed elections to take place to replace the GNC, but then developed into a civil war. Guess you can't win them all...
said Wednesday that they found the crashed "Smart Kit" aircraft of al-Kufra airbase at Hanager district, in al-Kufra city.

The aircraft was reported missing on Tuesday.

The pilot and co-pilot of the aircraft, Sadam Ghaith and Mohammed Hasnawi respectively, were found dead.

On Facebook Haftar's air force command said the aircraft took off for surveillance duties after information about Sudanese rebels' vehicles being located near Libyan southeastern borders.

Search for the missing aircraft started Tuesday afternoon after al-Kufra airbase lost contact with it during its mission. The aircraft disappeared at about 3.00pm Libya timing.

A night of airstrikes in Hun town
[Libya Observer] Dignity Operation warplanes intensified Arclight airstrikes in al-Jufra district, central Libya, Tuesday night hitting several military and civilian targets.

Sources reported that Dignity Operation conducted 10 Arclight airstrikes causing panic among local residents.

One of the Arclight airstrikes had targeted al-Wahat Hotel in Hun town, leaving around five people dead, according to medical sources. A video shared by al-Nabaa TV showed fighters rescuing civilians from under the rubble of a collapsed building in Hun.

Residents said they heard several loud kabooms while fighter jets were hovering over the area for several hours.

Tagreft Brigade, Sabha Martyrs’ Brigade, Illegal Immigration Fight Squad and the Military Police had been also targeted.

Al-Jufra mayor condemned the repeated Arclight airstrikes on civilian sites in the area regarding them a challenge to international norms and laws.

Up to 20 jihadists were killed in the failed assault in addition to 3 machinegun-mounted trucks destroyed. The Syrian forces also managed to capture a vehicle loaded with ammunition for the terror group.

As for the government forces, 3 troops were killed, 7 others injured while defending the area.

Hey, California, Ready To Spend $400 Billion For Your Single-Payer Disaster?
[INVESTORS] CaliCare: Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party,'s so-called progressive Democrats, fresh off their classy "flipping off" of Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
at their state convention, now want to flip off the entire state by imposing a reckless, economy-destroying single-payer health care system on the state's citizens. If voters don't stop this madness they'll get what they deserve.

A study by the Senate Appropriations Committee of the state legislature found that a proposed single-payer system would cost $400 billion a year -- more than twice the state's current bloated budget of $182 billion. To say that it would be the fiscal and economic ruin of California is an understatement.

As the Sacramento Bee notes, half the tab would come in the form of a new tax of about 15% on all earned income. That's in addition to the 13%-plus state income tax already levied on Californians. That would still leave as much as $100 billion in new spending that would have to be paid for somehow. No doubt, they'll go after businesses for that.

The state has already lost millions of residents and thousands of businesses because of its excessive taxation and onerous regulations. The ruinous taxation from single-payer health care would lead to a mass exodus of companies and what remains of the once-thriving middle class. Californians need to wake up to the fact that they've put the most far-left state government in American history into power, and will soon pay dearly for it.

But don't think they're sincere in wanting to provide "care" to those who need it. This is a raw political power play, and nothing else.

The bill's main author, State Sen. Ricardo Lara, is currently chairman of the State Senate Appropriations Committee. But he wants to run for the powerful State Insurance Commissioner post. Then there's Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom, who's eyeing the governorship, just as soon as current Gov. Jerry Governor Moonbeam Brown
... those who ignore history are bound to repeat it ...
departs next year.

What do Lara and Newsom have in common? They both want the big bucks from the politically powerful California Nurse's Association. Sure, it sounds innocent -- hey, everyone likes nurses, right? -- but the nurse's union is one of the most far-left groups in the state.

In 2014, The Atlantic Monthly fawningly described the CNA as "one of the smallest, but most powerful unions in the country." Now, thanks to that union's support of Lara, whether you like it or not, conservative, liberal or somewhere in between, you may soon be paying for socialized medicine.

As the Bee notes, with appropriate journalistic understatement, "Lara has support from the city of Los Angeles, Santa Clara and Marin counties' boards of supervisors, and Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones, a candidate for state attorney general."

Lara's single-payer bill -- State Bill 562, also called "The Healthy California Act" -- has been passed out of the committee and is likely to be voted on in early June. Many political observers think the report on its cost might be the final nail in the coffin for this awful idea.

A Kaiser Family Foundation survey in 2016 found that 50% of Americans would support a single-payer health care plan, with just 43% opposing it. But when you ask them whether they would support it if taxes went up for most people, and then 63% oppose it. A similar number oppose it if it would "give government too much control over health care." And 57% would oppose it if it got rid of current health care law -- that is, ObamaCare.

#8  Ricardo Lara has been in the news a lot lately. He's an up and coming political star, he is.

As for an additional 15% on top of my already onerous state income tax, well, North Carolina is looking better all the time. But there is hope in history. Former Governor Gray Davis was recalled when it was found the state had run up a $26 billion deficit. That pales in comparison to $400 billion. When you start after people's money that way, party affiliation might not be as important as Lara thinks.

Police arrest 3 Waqf Temple Mount guards amid clash with Jewish activists
[IsraelTimes] As Israel marks jubilee of Jerusalem’s reunification, security forces strive to contain unrest at contested holy site.

In an unusual move, Israeli police on Wednesday tossed in the calaboose
Drop the heater, Studs, or you're hist'try!
three guards from the Islamic Waqf, a Jordan-based organization that administers the Temple Mount, saying they tried to attack visitors to the Jerusalem site.

Some 15 Jewish activists were also detained by police after they prostrated themselves in the Temple Mount compound, defying restrictions against Jewish acts of worship at the holy site.

The incident came amid the 50th annual celebrations of Jerusalem Day, which marks Israel’s reunification of the city in the 1967 Six Day War. During the afternoon, thousands were expected to take part in the annual "flag dance" in which primarily religious teenagers march through the Old City decked in white and blue, the colors of the Israeli flag.

Many of the detained activists, who campaign for Jewish prayer rights at the holy site, were minors, police said in a statement.

By law, under arrangements Israel instituted after capturing the area in the Six Day War, Jews are not allowed to pray at the Temple Mount, although they can take part in tours.

Hundreds of Jewish visitors lined up during the day to enter the compound. Following the morning incident, a group on a regular scheduled tour of the Temple Mount stood still and sang the Israeli national anthem as they left the compound.

The act provoked an angry response from Arab worshipers and guards from the Waqf.

Officers accompanying the Jewish group immediately acted to remove them from the compound as Waqf guards began shouting at and trying to attack them, police said.

Officers intervened to prevent the guards and the Jews from coming into contact, and in the scuffle, Waqf personnel attacked police. Cops arrested three of the guards and began investigating the incident, including identifying the Jewish participants in the tour, police said.

Video posted on social media showed dozens of Israeli police confronting an angry crowd on the Temple Mount and arresting one of the Waqf guards.

Police noted they had been deployed since early in the morning to enable tourists and visitors to enter the compound safely. Police said they would take stern action against anyone who tried to use the Temple Mount visits to cause unrest or provocations and, likewise, against any attempt to attack visitors or police.

Pro-Palestinian protestors clash with police at Jerusalem Old City gate

Several dozen young Israeli men, some holding Israeli flags, were marching through the Old City's Damascus Gate on their way to the Western Wall on Wednesday when they encountered a group of Paleostinian protesters.

Israeli forces moved in, and festivities ensued with the Paleostinian protesters. No injuries were reported.

DOJ Budget Ramps Up Funding for Eminent Domain ‘Land Acquisition' in Potential Effort to Clear Way for Border Wall
[Breitbart] Tuesday’s Department of Justice budget proposal asks Congress for $1.8 million to "meet litigation, acquisition, and appraisal demands during the construction along the border between Mexico and the United States."

The money will be used to devote 20 new staff members, including 12 attorneys, to the Environmental and Natural Resources Division’s Land Acquisition Section (LAS). group, which has grabbed credit for the Manchester attack, is truly the biggest global threat since Al Qaeda, and a greater, more sustained, more coordinated effort is required by the global community to eliminate it. Confirmed details are necessarily scarce so soon after the attack, but the scope of the IS threat is clear. From so-called lone wolf attacks by self-radicalised individuals absorbing IS propaganda to the direct cultivation of myrmidon cells, networks and armies across the world, IS has established itself as the pre-eminent myrmidon threat to the global order.

Worryingly, while the international community appears to understand the gravity of the IS threat and the need for coordinated action against it, the global fight against militancy appears to be headed in the wrong direction. In a week where the US president is in the Middle East and representatives of many Moslem states are gathered to pledge to fight militancy, there could have been the possibility of a united front against the principal common threat facing the Western and Moslem worlds. Instead, US President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
’s policies threaten to exacerbate the very IS threat he has vowed to eliminate, while the Moslem world appears to once again be dividing itself along sectarian lines. Where IS has deadly clarity in considering every single nation on the earth as its enemy, the international community is unable to recognise that the direction it is taking in the fight against militancy may prolong and extend the threat of terrorism.

For its part, Pakistain needs to recognise that it risks jeopardising the gains it has made in the domestic fight against militancy for two reasons. One, the IS threat inside Pakistain is not being taken seriously enough, particularly with strong counter-extremism measures yet to be implemented. The pernicious effects of IS propaganda are already becoming visible inside Pakistain, with the skilful exploitation by the group of social media and the internet already claiming a number of victims. Just as counter-insurgency and counterterrorism together have been unable to end the Pak Taliban
...Arabic for students...
threat, the IS threat will not be defeated without robust counter-extremism measures. Two, Pakistain must reconsider its involvement with the Saudi-led Islamic Military Alliance if it continues down the path of becoming an anti-Iran force. The national interest is paramount and clear: no involvement in regional or sectarian conflicts of any kind.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Documents from 1967 war
[DAWN] THE documents and two-way radio messages that Israel has declassified on the eve of the 50th anniversary of the 1967 war are a treasure trove for researchers worldwide and will, no doubt, help solve some of the riddles surrounding the shocking Arab defeat despite superiority in men and material, if not in quality. Israel, according to the documents, had 412 aircraft, including 203 bombers and fighters with 235 pilots, as against 826 flying machines and 980 pilots that Egypt, Syria and Jordan had between them. Some documents attribute the destruction of Egyptian air power to the fact that the Egyptian defence minister was airborne and the air force had been ordered not to fire on a flying object. While Israel’s own losses were minimal — 46 planes lost and 24 pilots killed, one of them in friendly fire — 250 Egyptian aircraft were destroyed or disabled, with over 100 pilots killed.

Barring Sinai, which Egypt recovered thanks as much to the 1973 war as to the US-brokered Camp David accord, the fruits of that victory are still with Israel. It has annexed Jerusalem and the Golan Heights, while the West Bank and Gaza continue to remain under its occupation in violation of UN resolutions and several bilateral and multilateral treaties to which America is party. The documents reveal the contradictions in Israeli thinking. Abba Eban, one of Israel’s finest diplomats and then foreign minister, opposed from day one any idea of Israel gobbling up the conquered lands. His book, My People, shows both his enlightened mind and the warmth with which he speaks of the joint Judeo-Arab glory that Spain was. The documents quote him as opposing the annexation of Arab territories and warning that the world would side with the Palestinian liberation movement. The true Zionist philosophy, however, was articulated brazenly by Levi Eshkol, then prime minister. “If it were up to us,” he said, “we would send all the Arabs to Brazil.” Since then, it seems, men like Eban have been in short supply in Israel.
Whither the Jews of Pakistan, you may well ask. It turns out most of them settled in Ramle, Israel. Not for them the romantic ideas about Arabs and Moslems that those first generations of Ashkenazi pioneers had.

Mark Steyn: "Dangerous Woman" Meets Dangerous Man
Key bits, but Mr. Steyn is always worth reading in full.
[SteynOnline] The pop star Ariana Grande has canceled the remaining dates of her "Dangerous Woman" tour following the murder of 22 fans (at the time of writing) and the injury of dozens more at her concert in Manchester. The Manchester Royal Infirmary reports that half the victims brought to the hospital overnight are children. The killer was a suicide bomber. Theresa May says the police believe they know his identity. The usual, predictable details will follow. [UPDATE: He's Salman Abedi, the Manchester-born son of Libyan refugees and another "known wolf".]

As The Independent's headline has it:

There's only one way Britain should respond to attacks such as Manchester. That is by carrying on exactly as before.

That's not actually the "only" way Britain could respond, but it seems the way to bet, judging from the responses of the political class. "Carry on" is a very British expression. One thinks of the famous scene in one of the most famous of the Carry On comedies, Carry On Up The Khyber, surely the most insightful film ever made about Afghanistan: as you'll recall, the revolting Khasi of Khalabar grows ever more enraged at the British Governor's refusal to let the shelling and destruction of Government House disrupt his dinner party. Even when the Khasi has the main course replaced with the head of a decapitated fakir, Her Majesty's viceroy declines to let his eye be caught by these vulgar attention-seeking jihadists. The film received unenthusiastic reviews from London critics in 1968. One would not have predicted that half-a-century later it would be official British policy on the home front.

Conversely, most other western citizens believe that, to invert Trotsky, if you're not interested in Islam, Islam won't be interested in you. Ariana Grande was eight at the time of 9/11, and most of her fans even younger. They have passed their entire sentient lives in the age of Islamic terror, yet somehow assume it's something compartmentalized and sealed off from them. "Dangerous Woman" is meant to be an attitude, nothing more - an edgy pose in a pop culture that lost any edge long ago; a great T-shirt, like the ones last night scavenged from the merchandising stands and used to bandage the wounded. It must come as a shock to realize there are those who take your ersatz provocations as the real thing, and are genuinely provoked by them.

"Carrying on exactly as before", as The Independent advises, will not be possible. A few months ago, I was in Toulouse, where Jewish life has vanished from public visibility and is conducted only behind the prison-like walls of a fortress schoolhouse and a centralized synagogue that requires 24/7 protection by French soldiers; I went to Amsterdam, which is markedly less gay than it used to be; I walked through Molenbeek after dark, where unaccompanied women dare not go. You can carry on, you can stagger on, but life is not exactly as it was before. Inch by inch, it's smaller and more constrained.

But the arithmetic is not difficult: Poland and Hungary and Slovakia do not have Islamic terrorism because they have very little Islam. France and Germany and Belgium admit more and more Islam, and thus more and more terrorism. Yet the subject of immigration has been all but entirely absent from the current UK election campaign. Thirty years ago, in the interests of stopping IRA terrorism, the British state was not above preventing the internal movement within its borders of unconvicted, uncharged, unarrested Republican sympathizers seeking to take a ferry from Belfast to Liverpool. Today it declares it can do nothing to prevent the movement of large numbers of the Muslim world from thousands of miles away to the heart of the United Kingdom. It's just a fact of life - like being blown up when you go to a pop concert.

All of us have gotten things wrong since 9/11. But few of us have gotten things as disastrously wrong as May and Merkel and Hollande and an entire generation of European political leaders who insist that remorseless incremental Islamization is both unstoppable and manageable. It is neither - and, for the sake of the dead of last night's carnage and for those of the next one, it is necessary to face that honestly. Theresa May's statement in Downing Street is said by my old friends at The Spectator to be "defiant", but what she is defying is not terrorism but reality. So too for all the exhausted accessories of defiance chic: candles, teddy bears, hashtags, the pitiful passive rote gestures that acknowledge atrocity without addressing it - like the Eloi in H G Wells' Time Machine, too evolved to resist the Morlocks.

Cars torched in northern Arab town in suspected hate attack
Unequal but opposite reaction.
[IsraelTimes] ’Price tag’ graffiti sprayed on a wall in the village of ’Ara, along with ’regards’ from far-right activists Cars torched in northern Arab town in suspected hate attack.

Two cars were torched and graffiti was daubed on a wall at the entrance to an Arab village in northern Israel overnight Wednesday, in the latest in a string of anti-Arab acts of vandalism.

The slogans "administrative price tag" and "regards from the banned" were spray painted on the wall in the village of ’Ara in the Wadi Ara area southeast of Haifa.

"The banned" appears to refer to suspected Jewish Lions of Islam who have been prevented from entering the West Bank through so-called "administrative orders," ostensibly due to fears that they will instigate violence.

"Price tag" is a slogan often associated with Jewish hate attacks against Arabs and Christians.

The overnight attack, which police and the internal security services said they were investigating, was the third suspected hate crime this month.

The previous attack, on Friday, saw a tractor set ablaze and graffiti painted on a wall in the West Bank Paleostinian village of Burin, near Nablus.

A star of David and the Hebrew word for "Dire Revenge" were spray-painted near the destroyed tractor.

Burin is a short distance from the Paleostinian town of Hawara, where an Israeli man whose car was attacked by rioters late Thursday shot up the crowd, shooting dead a Paleostinian man and injuring an News Agency that Dare Not be Named photojournalist.

On May 9, police reported finding around 20 cars vandalized on Route 21 in East Jerusalem, along the border between the Jewish ultra-Orthodox neighborhood of Ramat Shlomo and the Arab Shuafat neighborhood. The words "price tag" were daubed on some vehicles, several tires were slashed, and a wall in the neighborhood was spray-painted with the words "Mohammed is an administrative pig."

3 Palestinian suspects arrested over attack on settler's car

Drop the gat, Rocky, or you're a dead 'un!
as part of investigation into incident in which some 200 Paleostinian rioters pelted the car of a settler who came upon the area with stones, later surrounding the car, banging on its windows and kicking it.

Israeli security forces arrested three Paleostinians from Huwara overnight Tuesday on suspicion they were involved in the attack on a settler's car on Highway 60 last week.

The settler, who said he feared for his life, shot up some 200 Paleostinian rioters who were pelting his car with stones and later surrounded it and attacked it.

An ambulance driver, who is suspected of intentionally blocking the settler's car and preventing him from getting away from the Paleostinian mob, was arrested shortly after the incident.

Two Palestinians arrested after attempting to carry pipe bombs to court

[Ynet] A minor arrived at Samaria Military Court Wednesday morning carrying two pipe bombs on his person.

The minor and another suspect were jugged
Don't shoot, coppers! I'm comin' out!
by border patrol and military coppers. This is the second time this happened this month.

The two suspects arrived at a security check near the court when they raised the suspicion of several officers in the area. The officers requested that they pass through a metal detector, which detected the detonation devices.

The two were arrested, and a bomb defusal squad was hailed to neutralize the devices.

The suspects, residents of Jenin, were taken for questioning.

Palestinian convicted of attempted terrorism, ordered by Hamas

[Ynet] Muhammad Fuaz Ibrahim Julani, 22, of the Shuafat refugee camp, was convicted by Jerusalem District Court of attempted terrorism and sentenced to 8.5 years in prison.

Julani confessed to using money provided by Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, to build an bomb that he intended to use in a wide-scale terror attack in Jerusalem.

He also confessed that he had planned a stabbing attack in Pisgat Ze’ev earlier this year, but halted his plans out of concern that Israeli security forces would demolish his parents’ home.

Wasserman Schultz Threatened Police Chief For Gathering Evidence On Her IT Staffer’s Alleged Crimes
[DAILYCALLER] Rep. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz
...Congresswoman from Florida, the abrasive chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee. She has been a politician since 1992, and prior to that was in training as a political science major. Her primary accomplishment seems to be that she's Jewish...
threatened the chief of the U.S. Capitol Police with "consequences" for holding equipment that she says belongs to her in order to build a criminal case against a Pak staffer suspected of massive cybersecurity breaches involving funneling sensitive congressional data offsite.

The Florida politician used her position on the committee that sets the police force’s budget to press its chief to relinquish the piece of evidence Thursday, in what could be considered using her authority to attempt to interfere with a criminal investigation.

The Capitol Police and outside agencies are pursuing Imran Awan,
...the Pakistani-American who, along with his brothers Abid and Jamal and his wife Hina Alvi, engaged in a number of lucrative and not-quite-legal activities with very questionable personages in addition to providing inferior IT tech support to a number of Democratic Congresspeople until someone noticed exactly how not-legal those activities were. Hina Alvi was recently discovered to have hied herself home to the protections of her wealthy and influential family back in the old country...
who has run technology for the Florida politician since 2005 and was banned from the House network in February on suspicion of data breaches and theft.

"My understanding is the the Capitol Police is not able to confiscate Members’ equipment when the Member is not under investigation," Wasserman Schultz said in the annual police budget hearing of the House Committee On Appropriations’ Legislative Branch Subcommittee.

"We can’t return the equipment," Police Chief Matthew R. Verderosa told the Florida Democrat.

"I think you’re violating the rules when you conduct your business that way and you should expect that there will be consequences," Wasserman Schultz said.
What is she afraid will be found?

Arabia
Saudi Arabia defends Bahrain’s deadly crackdown
[Iran Press TV] Human rights groups have condemned Bahrain for its deadly crackdown on people in the village of Diraz, but the Saudi regime has come to Manama’s defense, saying the Bahraini kingdom is "an integral part" of Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. A source in the Saudi Foreign Ministry said the security of Bahrain "is an integral part" of Saudi security, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

"The source affirmed the support of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the measures being taken," including in the northwestern village of Diraz, the official news agency said.

According to the source, the measures are allegedly to "address all terrorist attempts aimed at destabilizing and damaging" security and order.

Thousands of anti-regime protesters have held numerous demonstrations in Bahrain on an almost daily basis ever since a popular uprising began in the kingdom in early February 2011. They are demanding that the Al Khalifah dynasty relinquish power and a just system representing all Bahrainis be established.

286 people in an assault in which officers fired tear gas and shotguns at protesters in a town that is home to a prominent Shiite holy man facing possible deportation. At least five demonstrators were killed and others maimed.

The Interior Ministry said the operation targeting Diraz, home to Sheikh Isa Qassim and a long-running sit-in supporting him, was to "maintain security and public order." It called the area a "haven for wanted runaways from justice."

Activists shared photographs and videos showing youths throwing stones and climbing on an armored personnel carrier. Another video showed a bulldozer smashing through the area that once hosted the sit-in.

The Interior Ministry said 19 security forces were maimed.

Amnesia Amnesty International later said Qassim was not arrested.

Turkey Places Hunger Strikers under Arrest on Terror Charges
[AnNahar] A Turkish court has placed under arrest on terror charges an academic and a teacher who have been on a long hunger strike to protest against their dismissal in a purge after last year's failed coup, reports said.

Nuriye Gulmen and Semih Ozakca were remanded in jug ahead of trial by an Ankara court late Tuesday on charges of "membership of a terror organization", the NTV and CNN-Turk channels said. They had initially been detained on Monday.

Both were sacked under the state of emergency imposed after the July 15 attempted coup seeking to overthrow President Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First

Former primary school teacher Ozakca and academic Gulmen began their hunger strike two-and-a-half months ago and have been surviving on water alone.

In a video published as they attended their court hearing, the pair said they were determined to continue their struggle.

"We will continue our fight until we are victorious," said Ozakca.

"For us, the resistance will continue in prison. I invite everyone to continue the resistance outside," said Gulmen.

A protest in their support Tuesday afternoon in Ankara was violently dispersed by the police, with several people tossed in the clink

Africa Horn
About IS in Puntland
[IsraelTimes] The semi-autonomous region of Puntland
...a region in northeastern Somalia, centered on Garowe in the Nugaal province. Its leaders declared the territory an autonomous state in 1998. Puntland and the equally autonomous Somaliland seem to have avoided the clan rivalries and warlordism that have typified the rest of Somalia, which puts both places high on the list for Islamic subversion...
has often come under attack by Shabaab Death Eaters and is also home to a breakaway group of fighters who have declared allegiance to IS.

However the group has so far failed to gather much support while the Shabaab have taken pains to purge those expressing pro-IS sentiment from their ranks.

The Death Eaters are led by former Shabaab holy man Abdiqadir Mumin who switched allegiance from al-Qaeda to IS in October 2015 and was named a "global terrorist" by the US State Department in August.

Aside from issuing occasional promotional videos, the group seized the small fishing town of Qandala before being ousted by Puntland forces in December.

Then in February IS claimed an attack by gunnies on a hotel in Bosaso which left four security guards dead.

Rashid Abdi of the International Crisis Group said that while Mumin’s group was stepping up its activities, the Shabaab remained the biggest threat in the region.

Firebrand preacher
Mumin was born in Puntland and lived in Sweden before moving to the UK in the 2000s, where he was granted British citizenship.

In London and Leicester, he developed a reputation as a firebrand
...firebrands are noted more for audio volume and the quantity of spittle generated than for any actual logic in their arguments...
preacher at murderous Moslem mosques and in videos posted online.

Monitored by MI5, Britannia’s domestic intelligence agency, Mumin is thought to have known Mohammed Emwazi, the IS executioner nicknamed "Jihadi John," and Michael Adebolajo, one of two people convicted over the 2013 murder of British soldier Lee Rigby in London.

In 2010, Mumin traveled to Somalia to join the Shabaab -- which both Emwazi and Adebolajo had unsuccessfully tried to do.

He initially served as a holy man and propagandist before taking control of the Puntland faction of the Shabaab and later defecting to IS with a handful of fighters -- despite lacking battlefield experience.

Observers say his supporters are mostly made up of members of his own Majerteen clan, and the very existence of Mumin’s group is attributed to complex local clan rivalries.

The International Crisis Group estimated in November that his group counted some 200 members and warned the threat of IS could not be "dismissed as insignificant."

The group called for a "genuine political initiative to address local clan grievances."

#8  This is interesting. In the past Mark Steyn and others have argued that immigration was the only was to preserve European socialism. When you don't have babies, it's the only way to preserve the broad tax base that supports generous benefits.

But if your immigrants consume more than half of all revenue, then it can't be about supporting revenue. Maybe at this point it's more desperate. Maybe now the only thing that matters is importing enough votes to keep you and your crony friends in office.

3+ years in prison for Gaza fisherman who gave diving equipment to Hamas
[Ynet] The Be'er Sheva District Court sentenced a fisherman from the Gazoo Strip to 39 months in prison and an additional year for transferring diving equipment to Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth", four years ago.

The court noted that in the context of the considerations for punishment, it was taken into account that the fisherman acted for the sake of his livelihood and did not belong to a terrorist organization.

NSA under Obama conducted illegal searches on Americans
The National Security Agency under former President Barack Obama routinely violated American privacy protections while scouring through overseas intercepts and failed to disclose the extent of the problems until the final days before Donald Trump was elected president last fall, according to once top-secret documents that chronicle some of the most serious constitutional abuses to date by the U.S. intelligence community.
Pulled out all the stops did they? Trump still won the election.
More than 5 percent, or one out of every 20 searches seeking upstream Internet data on Americans inside the NSA’s so-called Section 702 database violated the safeguards Obama and his intelligence chiefs vowed to follow in 2011, according to one classified internal report reviewed by Circa.

The Obama administration self-disclosed the problems at a closed-door hearing Oct. 26 before the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court that set off alarm. Trump was elected less than two weeks later.
"Self-disclosed at a closed-door hearing". I wonder if they teach that tactic at Harvard Law?
The admitted violations undercut one of the primary defenses that the intelligence community and Obama officials have used in recent weeks to justify their snooping into incidental NSA intercepts about Americans.

Circa has reported that there was a three-fold increase in NSA data searches about Americans and a rise in the unmasking of U.S. person’s identities in intelligence reports after Obama loosened the privacy rules in 2011.
2011: One year before the official U.S. election season, and nearly two years before the Obama administration purportedly began nuclear-deal talks with the Iranians.
Officials like former National Security Adviser Susan Rice have argued their activities were legal under the so-called minimization rule changes Obama made, and that the intelligence agencies were strictly monitored to avoid abuses. The intelligence court and the NSA’s own internal watchdog found that not to be true.

'Tainted Heroes:' New Film Exposes Takeover of SA by Communist Terrorists
[New American] A new documentary by the South African civil rights group AfriForum exposes uncomfortable truths about revolutionary Nelson Mandela's African National Congress (ANC), including the fact that much of the Soviet-backed party's violence was directed at black people who refused to fall in line. The film, Tainted Heroes, also shows the unfathomable brutality employed by the ANC, its terrorist wing, and the South African Communist Party that controlled it behind the scenes in the effort to seize political and economic power over South Africa. Especially noteworthy is the ANC's brutal war against black organizations and individuals viewed as rivals.

Erdogan: We’ll wish Turkey-based German troops happy journey if they leave
[Iran Press TV] Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan says it would not be "a major issue" for Turkey if Germany decided to pull out its troops from the Anatolian country.
They're going to take their stuff with them, right?
Erdogan made the remarks on Wednesday before flying to a NATO summit with European Union leaders in Brussels.

"We have not been officially notified by Germany that it is going to leave to Jordan from the Incirlik base... But if they do so, then for us it's not a problem. If they leave, we'll tell them happy journey," he added.

On Saturday, German Defense Minister Ursula von der Leyen announced that an airbase in Jordan shows potential as a replacement for Turkey's Incirlik base.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
House IT Aides Fear Suspects in Hill Breach Are Blackmailing Members With Their Own Data
[DailySignal] Congressional technology aides are baffled that data-theft allegations against four former House IT workers--who were banned from the congressional network--have largely been ignored, and they fear the integrity of sensitive high-level information.

Imran Awan and three relatives were colleagues until police banned them from computer networks at the House of Representatives after suspicion the brothers accessed congressional computers without permission.

Five Capitol Hill technology aides told The Daily Caller News Foundation’s Investigative Group that members of Congress have displayed an inexplicable and intense loyalty toward the suspects who police say victimized them. The baffled aides wonder if the suspects are blackmailing representatives based on the contents of their emails and files, to which they had full access.
Would explain more than a few things.

#1  Somehow left out was that the Awans first began working as IT staff for this Member of Congress.

As far as 'inexplicable loyalty', it can probably be summed up with this:

[Rep. Gregory] Meeks said he isn’t convinced Alvi and Imran Awan, both of whom worked in his office at different times, are involved in the alleged procurement scam but that Alvi was dismissed because the investigation was interrupting the day-to-day functions of his office.

“As of right now, I don’t see a smoking gun,” Meeks said. “I have seen no evidence that they were doing anything that was nefarious.”

Meeks said he was hesitant to believe the accusations against Alvi, Imran Awan and the three other staffers, saying their background as Muslim Americans, some with ties to Pakistan, could make them easy targets for false charges.

“I wanted to be sure individuals are not being singled out because of their nationalities or their religion. We want to make sure everybody is entitled to due process,” Meeks said.

[Rep. Marcia]Fudge told Politico on Tuesday she would employ Imran Awan until he received “due process.”

“He needs to have a hearing. Due process is very simple. You don’t fire someone until you talk to them,” Fudge said.

Philippine church says priest, churchgoers taken hostage in Marawi city
[Ynet] A Philippine Roman Catholic church leader says a priest and several churchgoers have been taken hostage from a cathedral by gunnies in a southern city.

Archbishop Socrates Villegas, president of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines, and another church official said Wednesday that gunnies forced their way into a cathedral in Marawi city and seized the Rev. Chito Suganob and more than a dozen churchgoers and staff as fighting raged between government troops and Moslem Lion of Islams.

Villegas says the gunnies have threatened to kill the hostages "if government forces unleashed against them are not recalled."

Villegas asked Filipinos to pray for the captives and for the government to make their safety a primary concern.

UK Muslim leaders in Manchester report rise in Islamophobic incidents
[Iran Press TV] Local Moslem leaders in Manchester have expressed concern
...meaning the brow was mildly wrinkled, the eyebrows drawn slightly together, and a thoughtful expression assumed, not that anything was actually done or indeed that any thought was actually expended...
about rising Islamophobic incidents and hate crimes against Moslems following the terror attack in the British city.

A front man for the Manchester Islamic Center, also known as the Didsbury Mosque, said Wednesday that the terrorist attack in the city on Monday has no place in any religion.

"The horrific atrocity that occurred in Manchester on Monday night has shocked us all," said Fawzi Haffar. "We encourage anyone, and I repeat we encourage anyone, who may have information about the individual involved to contact the police without any delay."

Haffar.also criticized some media reports for manufacturing unfounded anti-Moslem stories.

An arsonist targeted a mosque in the town of Oldham in Greater Manchester on Tuesday, sparking fears of a rise in hate crimes. CCTV footage shows a man walking to the front door and setting the Jamia Qasmia Zahidia Islamic Center on fire.
Golly. They're going to have to buy a new front door and have it installed. Not much of a hate crime wave.
This is while Moslem communities in Britannia have condemned the Manchester terror attack and raised funds to distribute among the victims.

At least 22 people bit the dust when 22-year-old Salman Abedi allegedly detonated his explosives at a concert hall in Manchester on Monday.

Home Front: WoT
Brits claim U.S. intelligence leaked confidential Manchester bombing evidence

[LegalInsurrection] If you thought that intelligence community leaks against Donald Trump were okay because Trump was the target, then you don’t understand the problem. Such leaks to the NY Times and Washington Post, among others, are not only criminal, they are contagious.

If accusations being made by the British are true, the leakers in the U.S. intelligence community have revealed to the NY Times highly sensitive information shared as part of a joint terrorism investigation.

It all started when the NY Times ran a lengthy report on the evidence recovered at the scene of the Manchester concert suicide bombing, Found at the Scene in Manchester: Shrapnel, a Backpack and a Battery:

The bomber in the Manchester terrorist attack appeared to have carried a powerful explosive in a lightweight metal container concealed either within a black vest or a blue Karrimor backpack, and may have held a small switch in his left hand, according to preliminary information gathered by British authorities.

The article then goes on to show photos of evidence, including the battery, shrapnel, and remnants of the backpack in which the bomb was contained. The Times summarizes preliminary findings as to the nature of the bomb and how it was constructed:

Certain details of the bomb further suggest a desire by a bomb-maker to reduce the risk of a dud.

The authorities found a mangled Yuasa 12-volt, 2.1 amp lead acid battery at the scene, which is more powerful than batteries often seen in backpack bombs or suicide vests. The battery, used for emergency lighting and other applications, can be bought for about $20.

A possible switch to initiate the explosion, carried in the bomber’s left hand, was also unusual in a suicide device, in that it appears to have contained a small circuit board soldered inside one end.

You don’t need to be a professional explosives and terror investigator to understand that publishing such details so early in the investigation could prejudice the ability to roll up the bombmaker and network. The way in which bombs are constructed often carry forensic signature telltale details that can be traced back to specific groups or even individual bombmakers.

So who leaked to the NY Times?

The British apparently are blaming U.S. intelligence services, who would have been privy to such information as part of joint investigation.

Indian troops open fire at vehicle carrying UN military observers

Military Observers group in India and Pakistain (UNMOGIP) narrowly escaped a firing incident as Indian troops reportedly targeted their vehicle while they were visiting areas along the Pak side of the Line of Control (LoC), DawnNews reported Wednesday.

A statement issued by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Army's media wing, claimed that "Indian troops committed unprovoked ceasefire violation." The Indian troops deployed on LoC, "targeted UNMOGIP vehicle along LOC in Khanjar sector," it added.

According to details shared by the military's media wing, the vehicle was carrying UNMOGIP Officers Major Emmanual of the Philippines and Major Mirko of Croatia when it came under fire.

ISPR further said that the officials were targeted despite the blue UN flag hoisted on the vehicle as per procedure.
