Comey will stop short of saying Trump obstructed justice in Flynn probe, source says
[ABC] There will be much in former FBI Director James Comey’s upcoming congressional testimony that will make the White House uncomfortable, but he will stop short of saying the president interfered with the agency's probe into former national security adviser Michael Flynn, a source familiar with Comey's thinking told ABC News.

Although Comey has told associates he will not accuse the President of obstructing justice, he will dispute the president’s contention that Comey told him three times he is not under investigation.

The president allegedly said he hoped Comey would drop the Flynn investigation, a request that concerned Comey enough that he documented the conversation in a memo shortly after speaking with the president. In the memo, according to sources close to Comey who reviewed it, Trump said: "I hope you can see your way clear to letting this go, to letting Flynn go," during a February meeting.

The request made Comey uncomfortable, but the source tells ABC News that Comey has told associates he will not accuse the President of obstructing justice.

"He is not going to Congress to make accusations about the President’s intent, instead he’s there to share his concerns," the source said, and tell the committee "what made him uneasy" and why he felt a need to write the memo documenting the conversation.

Some legal experts told ABC News that Trump's requests as detailed in the memo, which ABC News has not seen, could meet the legal definition of obstruction.
Or not. Since ABC News staff have not seen the alleged memo, which may or may not exist, there is a maximum of 25% probability that it does indeed meet that definition.

Gulf States Launch Naval Blockade Of Qatar
Zero Hedge - apply salt accordingly.
In what has emerged as the most significant escalation to result from the Qatar diplomatic crisis - which pits two of OPEC’s largest oil producers, Saudi Arabia and the UAE, against the world’s biggest exporter of liquefied natural gas and further disrupts stability in the region - the biggest Middle East oil and container ports banned all vessels sailing to and from Qatar from using their facilities.

According to a notice posted on the website of Inchcape Shipping, Saudi Arabian and Bahraini authorities closed off all of their ports to Qatari-flagged vessels or ships traveling to or coming from the Persian Gulf state, in what has been described as a naval blockade.

NSA Leaks Contradict What Soetoro Promised The Public About Russia's Election Meddling
[Daily Caller] Leaked NSA documents revealing that Russia engaged in election-related hacking efforts just days before the election directly contradict what former President Barack Obama told the American public.

Speaking at a year-end news conference in December, Obama told the public that Russian interference in the election ceased after he told Russian President Vladimir Putin to "cut it out" in early September. Russia’s cyberattacks stopped after warnings of "serious consequences" if they continued, Obama said.

"What I was concerned about in particular was making sure [the DNC hack] wasn’t compounded by potential hacking that could hamper vote counting, affect the actual election process itself," Obama said. "So in early September when I saw President Putin in China, I felt that the most effective way to ensure that that didn’t happen was to talk to him directly and tell him to cut it out and there were going to be serious consequences if he didn’t. And in fact we did not see further tampering of the election process."

"But the leaks through WikiLeaks had already occurred," Obama said, indicating that any further election interference was the result of emails released by WikiLeaks in the days and weeks leading up to the election.

‘Cash me outside' girl's summer tour postponed

*snort*
Fans of the infamous "Cash me outside" teen will have to wait to see her perform live ‐ her "summer tour" is being postponed until further notice, her manager Adam Kluger told The Post.

Danielle Bregoli, who's baffling rise to stardom began on an ill-fated episode of "Dr. Phil," was supposed to capitalize on her 15 minutes of fame with two "test shows" in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Houston originally scheduled for July 8 and 9, despite not having any actual musical or theatrical talent.

But her manager said the team is "pushing the shows back to align better with other initiatives."
"we're getting more selective in our audience"
"Due to an overwhelming response, we decided to look at larger venues and reschedule the events to better suit her growing audience as well as some significant professional developments. More information will be provided at a later date," Bregoli's representatives confirmed in a statement.

So far, they were unable to confirm when and where the new shows will take place.

Butt hurt London Mayor Sadiq Khan: ‘Cancel President Donald Trump's State Visit'
[Breitbart London] London Mayor Sadiq Khan -- who has seen two terror attacks in the city since he took office in May 2016 -- has called for the state visit of U.S. President Donald Trump to be cancelled after the president slammed Khan for telling Londoners there is "no reason to be alarmed" following Saturday’s terror attack.

Mr. Khan made the comments on Channel 4 News, saying the president’s policies -- his proposed temporary travel ban on immigration from six Middle Eastern nations on grounds of securing the safety of American citizens -- "go[es] against everything we stand for".

"I don’t think we should roll out the red carpet to the president of the USA in the circumstances where his policies go against everything we stand for," he said.

"When you have a special relationship it is no different from when you have got a close mate. You stand with them in times of adversity but you call them out when they are wrong. There are many things about which Donald Trump is wrong."

This is not the first time the London mayor has called for the offer of a state visit to be rescinded.

Jailed NSA Leaker Reality Winner: 'Being White is Terrorism'

Reality Leigh Winner, the 25-year-old federal contractor who was arrested on Saturday for leaking classified information to the media, is a #Resistance activist who believes "being white is terrorism."

Winner reportedly confessed to leaking a top secret NSA document on purported Russian hacking to an unnamed news organization, believed to be The Intercept.

Her social media profiles show she's a thoroughly brainwashed, far-left #Resistance activist who said Donald Trump is an "orange fascist" and "the most dangerous" person in the country.

While You Obsessed Over Trump's Scandals, He's Fundamentally Changed The Country
[HUFFPOO] On the morning of May 12, Attorney General Jeff Sessions revealed that he had instructed federal prosecutors to begin pursuing lengthier prison sentences for drug offenders.

It was a draconian change in approach that flew in the face of a growing bipartisan agreement on sentencing reform. "He’s completely discarded what has been an emerging consensus about how best to keep the country safe," said Matthew Miller, a former Department of Justice spokesman. "[O]ne of the most extreme voices in the country on criminal justice policy just happened to be put into the most important job for shaping its future."

The move was then largely buried under an avalanche of Donald Trump-related news.

Just hours after Sessions’ policy was revealed, the president tweeted that he may have taped conversations with his recently-fired FBI director, James Comey. With less than 140 characters, Washington was abuzz again over Trump’s potential ties to Russia, which Comey had been investigating.

#3  "It was a draconian change in approach..."

Former AG Holder instructed federal prosecutors to ignore sentencing guide lines. Now AG Sessions comes in and instructs prosecutors to revert back to pre-Obama days. And as "draconian" as it may sound to some, he's telling prosecutors to follow the statutes as written. Kinda old school really - back before laws could be changed with a cell phone and a pen.

It's official, Tesla owners are crap drivers
[Fender Bender] June 5, 2017—Citing a report from the Highway Loss Data Institute (HLDI), AAA argues Tesla cars crash more often than average and are more expensive to repair, according to Left Lane. Thus, AAA has made it more expensive to insure a Tesla Model S or a Model X.

After examining the HLDI report, AAA concluded Tesla cars crash more often than comparable models, and they're considerably more expensive to repair. The data covered cars from the 2014, 2015 and 2016 model years.

The report suggests the rear-wheel drive Model S is involved in 46 percent more accidents than average, while repair costs are over 50 percent higher than the industry average. Those percentages check in at 41 and 89 percent, respectively, for the Model X. As a result, Tesla owners insured through AAA will soon see a 30 percent hike in insurance rates.

Tesla re-iterated that the Model S is one of the safest cars on the market, and criticized how the insurance company analyzed HLDI's data.

Julian Assange: Alleged NSA leaker ‘must be supported'
[The Hill] WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange says that a 25-year-old government contracter accused of sharing National Security Agency (NSA) documents with a media outlet "must be supported."

"Alleged NSA whistleblower Reality Leigh Winner must be supported," he tweeted Monday alongside a picture of Winner. "She is a young woman accused of courage in trying to help us know."

"It doesn’t matter why she did it or the quality [of] the report," Assange added in a separate tweet. "Acts of non-elite sources communicating knowledge should be strongly encouraged."

Prosecutors earlier Monday announced that the Department of Justice had charged Winner with sharing top secret material with a media outlet.

Court documents filed by the government did not specify which outlet received the materials, but NBC News reported Monday that the information went to The Intercept online news outlet.

The Intercept published a top secret NSA report Monday that alleged Russian military intelligence launched a 2016 cyberattack on a voting software company.

Tesla Inc. Spent $565K Lobbying for Fed Subsidies Musk Says He Doesn't Need
[Free Beacon] Tesla Inc. has spent more than $100,000 lobbying specifically on issues related to electronic vehicles and $450,000 lobbying the federal government overall over the last year and a half, according to lobbying disclosure records.

Despite the expenditures, Tesla CEO Elon Musk insists the company does not need such breaks. Musk publicly rebuked President Trump last week when announcing his decision to quit a White House advisory board over Trump's decision to leave the Paris climate accord.

Musk and Tesla shifted their lobbying strategy in recent months in an apparent attempt to try to reach Republicans in Congress and the Trump administration more effectively on "green" energy issues benefitting his companies.

SolarCity, a solar energy company that Musk merged into Tesla Inc. last fall, earlier this year parted ways with two major Democratic lobbying firms--Podesta Group and Roberti Global--and hired at least one Republican lobbying firm instead.

Theresa May: We Could Not Have
[LI] British PM Theresa May, in an address to the nation, stated that it wasn’t possible to have "predicted" or "envisaged" the latest terrorist attacks in Manchester and London.

Here’s her statement, as broadcast on CNN this morning:

"We could never have predicted the tragic turn which events would take. We could never have imagined the appalling depravity which led a cowardly and callous killer to target innocent men, women, and children, in the way that we saw in Manchester two weeks ago. Nor could we have envisaged the brutal attack that was carried out on the streets of London Saturday evening."

Seriously? Why couldn’t she "envisage" the London Bridge attack, given that a very similar attack--in which a vehicle was used as a weapon of mass murder--took place on Westminster Bridge less than three months ago?

As for Manchester outrage, there were echoes of it in the attack on the Bataclan concert hall in Paris. In any case, how can anyone possibly be surprised, or find it hard to "envisage," Islamic terrorist brutality in any form?

"Appalling depravity" hard for May to have predicted? Despite the history of mass beheadings, drownings, and burning in cages?

-Short Attention Span Theater-
Chicken snuggling could land you in a peck of trouble
[Denver Post] America’s love affair with backyard chickens is a tad too intimate, and it’s making some of us sick.

Just this year, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says, eight separate salmonella outbreaks linked to contact with pet poultry have taken place in the United States, sickening more than 370 people in 47 states and hospitalizing 71.

No one has died in 2017 ‐ yet. In 2016, a record 895 people who consorted with fowl came down with the nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps and fever that characterize this infection, and three of them did not survive.

So the CDC is once again telling flock owners to hold back on the heavy petting. That’s not a metaphor: An agency study on the rise of these outbreaks found last year that nearly half of the hundreds of salmonella patients surveyed acknowledged "snuggling" baby birds, and 46 percent said they allowed their poultry in the house.

Acting U.S. Ambassador to China Resigns Over Pullout from Climate Pact
[Free Beacon] The acting U.S. ambassador to China resigned on Monday to protest President Trump's decision to withdraw from the Paris climate change accord.

David Rank, a senior Foreign Service officer who was deputy chief of mission at the Beijing embassy, told staff members he quit rather than issue a formal U.S. diplomatic note to the Chinese government on the withdrawal, according to State Department officials.

"Mr. Rank made a personal decision. We appreciate his years of dedicated service to the State Department," said one official.

The resignation highlights the level of politicization that has taken place in key U.S. government agencies during the Obama administration.

Iraq
Watch bombs being dropped on ISIS in Mosul from the cockpit of a B-52
A heartwarming story, I know.
The venerable U.S. Air Force B-52 Buffs have been supporting the air war on ISIS since April 2016.

The Stratofortress strategic bombers, based at Al Udeid, Qatar, launched their first air strike against a Daesh weapons storage facility in Iraq on Apr. 18, 2016.

As already highlighted in a previous article, the USAF B-52s have mainly flown Close Air Support and Air Interdiction mainly delivering two types of JDAMs (Joint Direct Attack Munitions): the 500-lb laser-guided GBU-54s and the 2,000-lb GPS-guided GBU-31V3 "bunker busters" loaded onto the Heavy Stores Adaptor Beam pylons.

The typical loadout includes 3x GBU-31s and 8x GBU-54s along with PGMs carried inside the bomb bay of the B-52H Stratofortress. With the 1760 Internal Weapons Bay Upgrade the Buffs can carry up to 16 external laser JDAMs (8 per pylon) as well as 8 internal J-series weapons mounted on a conventional rotary launcher: a mix of PGMs that gives the Buffs the ability to deliver attack both stationary and moving ground targets.

In particular, the GBU-54s, that combines 500-lb Mk-82 warhead and the precision strike capability delivered by its dual Laser/GPS mode guidance system can be used against targets with reduced collateral damage.

For hardened targets or concrete shelters, the weapons of choice is the GBU-31s.The JDAM is a GPS aided inertially guided bomb. The Guidance and Control Unit (GCU) containing a HG1700 RLG, GEM-III GPS receiver and computer package is installed inside the bomb tailkit. The GCU is used on the bunker busting 2,000-lb class BLU-109/B forged steel penetrator warhead.

The GBU-31s are assembled at Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar, by airmen from the 379th Expeditionary Maintenance Squadron’s Munitions Flight. Considered that the base

The following video provides a really interesting point of view: it shows a high-altitude attack on a target in western Mosul (according to @obretix), as seen from the cockpit of a B-52 of the 23rd Expeditionary Bomb Squadron on May 23, 2017.

The detonation of the bombs as they hit the ground appears to be pretty huge.

Most likely it's for yaw control. The B-52 rudder is a bit on the small side, resulting in not being able to make turns very well. There was a B-52 that lost most of its vertical stabilizer, yet was able to fly and land with no problem.

I'm thinking the pilots used the #4 & #5 engines to supplement the rudder control, so by increasing/decreasing the thrust on those two engines, they can control the yaws.
Posted by: Seeking cure for ignorance || 06/06/2017 16:07 Comments || Top||

#6  Multi-engine aircraft number their engines from outboard port to outboard starboard. Number "1" would be the outermost engine on the left (pilot's) side, "8" would be the outermost on the right.

Yaw control would be most efficient (thrust:vertical axis pivot) using the outer engines (#'s "1" and "8") with efficiency decreasing as one worked toward the aircraft longitudinal axis (center).

Pilots may remember that "arm" thingie their IP's beat them over the head with.

Aside of that, I've got nothing.

I messed up the link above, here's the proper link abput the rudder: B-52 Rudder

Here's a picture showing how far from the fuselage the engines are. I think that #4 & 5 is fa enough away to give a good leverage arm for the powerful engines.

Britain
Disavowing attacks, some British imams say they won't bury the terrorists
What moron(s) is trying to get these terrorists an Islamic funeral? Bury them sewed up in a pig skin.
More than 130 imams and Muslim religious leaders in the United Kingdom have said they will refuse to perform funeral prayers for the Manchester and London terrorists as a rebuke to the "dastardly cowardice" of the "vile murderers."

The Muslim Council of Britain released a letter Monday with 132 signatories including imams, scholars and leaders of various Islamic organizations. The MCB describes itself as an institution established to "promote consultation, cooperation and coordination on Muslim affairs in the United Kingdom," working together with Islamic schools and mosques.

There are approximately 3 million Muslims, and 1,750 mosques, in the U.K.

The letter decried the May 22 Manchester Arena bombing and Saturday’s dual attacks at London Bridge and Borough Market.

"We are deeply hurt that a spate of terror attacks have been committed in our country once more by murderers who seek to gain religious legitimacy for their actions," the letter read. "We seek to clarify that their reprehensible actions have neither legitimacy nor our sympathy."

"Though at no time is it acceptable, that such ruthless violence was perpetrated during the season of Ramadan, in which Muslims worldwide focus on pious devotion, prayer, charity and the cultivation of good character, demonstrates how utterly misguided and distant the terrorists are from our faith and the contempt which they hold for its values," it continued.

The letter also praised U.K. law enforcement and encouraged other imams and religious leaders to "withdraw such a privilege" of performing funeral rites for the attackers. ISIS has taken credit for both the Manchester and London attacks.

"We pray to God that the perpetrators be judged in accordance with the gravity of their crimes in the hereafter," the letter read. "Their acts and willful dismissal of our religious principles alienates them from any association with our community for whom the inviolability of every human life is the founding principle."

One of the signatories, Imam Yunus Dudhwala, Head of Chaplaincy & Bereavement at Barts Health NHS Trust, told Yahoo News the letter was a "grassroots effort," and called on the U.K. government to reach out to the Muslim community for help combatting terror.

"When the government doesn’t talk to Muslim leaders, then they are going to get their strategy wrong," he said, while at the same time denying that U.K. Islamic institutions facilitate radicalization.

"To my knowledge, there is not a single mosque in the country that preaches hate, violence, or extremism," he said. "It’s the Internet. It’s foreign policy, identity, and previous criminal behavior that we need to address."

and the Maldives to suspend relations with Doha, saying that the decision was in "violation of its illusory sovereignty".

"It was clear from the outset that the aim of the media campaign and the decision to cut off diplomatic and consular relations and close the borders is to pressure Qatar to abandon its national decision-making and illusory sovereignty," the Qatari Cabinet said in a statement on Monday.

"The measures are unjustified and are based on claims and allegations that have no basis in fact," the foreign ministry said in another statement, adding that the decisions would not affect the normal lives of citizens and residents.

"The aim is clear, and it is to impose guardianship on the state. This by itself is a violation of its [Qatar's] illusory sovereignty as a state," it added.

Qatar has taken all necessary measures to ensure normal life and there is no need to panic or stock up essential items, according to a cabinet statement.

Import of goods and movement of people will not be affected as all channels of import other than those from the Gulf states, which severed ties with Qatar, will continue to work as before, it said.

"Marine and air spaces will remain open for import and movement. We have taken all necessary precautions to ensure normal life," the statement said.

Push for isolation

The Saudi kingdom made the announcement to cut ties via its state-run Saudi Press Agency early on Monday, saying it was taking action for what it called the protection of national security.

The news agency released a statement in which it accused Qatar of "harbouring a multitude of terrorist and sectarian groups that aim to create instability in the region".

As part of the measures, Saudi Arabia said it would pull Qatari support from the Yemen war.

The UAE said in a statement it was cutting off all ties with Qatar. It also ordered Qatari citizens to leave the country within 14 days and banned its citizens from travelling to Qatar.

Bahrain's foreign ministry issued a statement saying it would withdraw its diplomatic mission from Doha within 48 hours and that all Qatari diplomats should leave Bahrain within the same period.

Egypt also announced the closure of its airspace and seaports for all Qatari transportation "to protect its national security", the foreign ministry said in a statement.

Anti-Trump protester: 'Is this my last free birthday?'
File under "Life with Consequences"
[Al Jazeera] When Olivia Alsip travelled to the capital to protest against the inauguration of right-wing US President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
, she didn't imagine she would end the day behind bars and later face up to 80 years in prison.

Thousands of people journeyed from across the US to Washington, DC, to protest on the first day of Trump's presidency, January 20.

During the swearing-in, Alsip was among the more than 230 protesters enjugged
Please don't kill me!
when officers from the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) blocked off a large area and hauled off nearly everyone.

"I am wondering if my 24th birthday next week will be my last as a free person," she says by telephone from reliably Democrat Chicago, aka The Windy City or Mobtown
... home of Al Capone, a succession of Daleys, Barak Obama, and Rahm Emmanuel,...
. "I've never in my life had such a painful and stressful experience. There are no words to convey the severity of this."

"Our experience in police custody [that day] was totally dehumanising. We were kettled, treated like animals and denied basic human rights
When they're defined by the state or an NGO they don't mean much...
and dignity," she recollects. "People were forced to urinate on the streets and denied water and food."

The arrests came after Black Bloc anarchists and anti-fascists clashed with police. Officers fired rubber bullets and tear gas at protesters.

Anti-Trump chants were occasionally drowned out by the thuds of sound grenades and smoke bombs.

Left behind was broken glass from the windows of cafes, restaurants and banks. Declarations of resistance marked the walls and pavements: "Make racists afraid again," and "F*ck Trump".

Images of a limousine in flames later made it onto television screens and the front pages of news websites around the world.

“Nearly 20 civilians were wounded in the clashes. The Taliban have also moved forward and they are two kilometers from the district governor’s compound,” Ayoubi said.

But Hamidullah Hamidi, the provincial police chief, said the Taliban fighters have retreated and “they (Taliban) have suffered heavy casualties in the attack.”

Afghan arrested for forcibly taking wife across border
[DAWN] LANDI KOTAL: Pak border guards on Sunday placed in durance vile

an Afghan national at Torkham while trying to forcibly take his young Pak wife to Afghanistan.

Officials said that 18-year-old Pak girl started crying when her aged Afghan husband tried to take her across the border with forged documents.

Hearing the cries and pleadings of the girl, border guards took both of them into custody. Upon investigations it was revealed that the real father of the girl had died some time back and later her stepfather sold her to an Afghan, three times her age.

The aggrieved girl told the security guards that she was married against her will and her Afghan husband now wanted to take her to Afghanistan after obtaining forged travel documents for her.

Security guards lodged the Afghan national at FC lockup in Landi Kotal.

Officials said fate of the aggrieved girl would be decided in accordance with her own will.

Iraq
Iranian militia capture 9 villages along Syrian border
Baaj (IraqiNews.com) Iraqi paramilitary forces fighting the Islamic State have recaptured nine more villages, proceeding with a campaign to impose control over the Iraqi borders with Syria.

Badr Organization, a part of the mainly-Shia Popular Mobilization Units, said Monday it had taken over nine villages northwest of Baaj, with dozens of militants fleeing to Syrian border cities.

“Forces are proceeding towards the liberation of what is left of Iraqi-Syrian borders towards al-Waleed border corssing,” the statement said, pointing to a crossing in Anbar province, south of Nineveh, which is also close to the borders with Jordan.

Operations on Monday left more than 45 Is members dead, including suicide bombers boarding booby-trapped cars, Badr Organization added.

On Sunday, PMU media said mobilization forces recaptured the entire Baaj region and proceeded to take over surrounding villages near the Syrian borders. Operations targeting border regions near Syria launched in May 12th.

The campaign has been running simultaneously with government troops battles with IS in Mosul, the group’s largest stronghold in Iraq where the group is nearing eventual defeat.

On Sunday, Abu Mahdi Al-Mohandes, deputy commander of the Popular Mobilization Units, said “mobilization forces will go after terrorism outside Iraq if it threatens Iraq’s soil and national security”. His remarks revive a controversy around whether the Shia-led, Iran-trained force could pass the Syrian borders to give leverage to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s forces against IS and other and rebel groups. A mobilization forces spokesperson said last week that the troops would not take the step unless with an Iraqi parliament green light. U.S.-backed Kurdish Syrian forces fighting the Islamic State had warned the organization against crossing the borders.

Kenya questioning the value of Chinese armored vehicles after 7 policemen killed in IED
[TUKO] Kenyans have questioned the quality of the newly acquired armoured police vehicles after one of them was extensively destroyed leaving seven police officers dead.

The Armoured Police Carrier hit an Improvised Explosive Device(IED) at Baure, Lamu East leading to the casualties.

The photos of the armoured vehicle which have emerged online show it was badly damaged by the explosive.

This left many wondering how such a machine could take such impact which it is meant to withstand.

Photos shows a badly ripped APC which lay upside down following the blast with some of its parts strewn on the ground.

Kenya bought at least 30 VN-4 APCs from China in January 2016 at billions of shillings with President Uhuru saying they will be used to fight terror.

#3  The Wikipedia spec:

The armor is welded shut and primarily provides protection from small arms fire and splinters from explosives.

This thing is basically a Jeep with wraparound protection against small arms. The article claims billions of shillings were paid for 30 vehicles. Assuming (conservatively) 1b shillings, at the exchange rate of 100 shillings to a dollar, that's over $300,000 per vehicle. Uncle Sam was paying $500K for actual mine-resistant MRAP's from First World manufacturers. Some Kenyan official's bank account was fattened, especially if the contract value was 2 or 3 billion shillings.

Home Front: WoT
DHS Officers Humiliate Judges by Enforcing Immigration Laws, Declares Judge
[BREITBART] Judges are humiliated and dehumanized whenever they must enforce the nation’s immigration laws, according to a senior judge on the far-left Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.

The judge’s cry of outrage came when he could not block the orderly repatriation of an undocumented Democrat who has two drunk driving convictions, plus a U.S. wife and three children.

"We are unable to prevent [Andres] Magana Ortiz’s removal, yet it is contrary to the values of this nation and its legal system," complained Judge Stephen Reinhardt, who wishes to extend citizens’ rights to illegal foreign migrants colonists. He said:

We are compelled to deny Mr. Magana Ortiz’s request for a stay of removal because we do not have the authority to grant it. We are not, however, compelled to find the government’s action in this case fair or just. ...

The government’s decision to remove Magana Ortiz diminishes not only our country but our courts, which are supposedly dedicated to the pursuit of justice. Magana Ortiz and his family are in truth not the only victims. Among the others are judges who, forced to participate in such inhumane acts, suffer a loss of dignity and humanity as well. I concur as a judge, but as a citizen I do not.

The judge, who was appointed -- not elected -- in 1980 and is married to a former top leader in the ACLU, also lamented the authority of ordinary DHS agents to enforce the law despite protests from well-paid, high-status "civil rights" lawyers.

Britain
Day 4: London Bridge attacker appeared in Channel 4 doc on ‘British jihadis’
[RT] Khuram Shazad Butt,
Notice that the name is Pakistained.
one the London Bridge attackers recently identified by police, appeared in a Channel 4 documentary called ‘The Jihadist Next Door’ last year. Police were reportedly alerted after he was filmed praying behind a jihadist Black Standard and attempting to recruit children at a local park.

Butt, 27, from Barking, East London was part of a “group of British extremists intent on spreading their message of global jihad” who appeared in the program.

In the documentary, Butt (wearing all beige) is filmed praying with the Black Standard with white shahada (Islamic creed) flag in the forefront, along with a group of other radical Muslims in the middle of London’s Regent’s Park. The variations of the Black Standard with white shahada has been used by numerous jihadist groups including al-Qaeda and Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL).

A police statement released Monday said Butt was known to police and the domestic intelligence agency MI5, but was not thought to have been planning an attack.
And courtesy of Beavis, ABC News adds:
Neighbors identify London Bridge attack suspect as man featured in recent documentary

Neighbors have identified one of the London Bridge attack suspects as a man known by the nickname "ABZ" or "Abs" who was featured in a recent documentary on the British Channel 4 from 2016 called "The Jihadist Next Door."

Neighbors say he was the attacker who wore the fake suicide vest during the vehicle and stabbing attack that killed seven people in London on Saturday night.

He was a member of Al Muhajiroun, a small group of men led by Anjem Choudary and Siddartha Dhar who openly preached for the need for Sharia law.

The group was closely monitored by authorities.

According to Alexander Meleagrou-Hitchens, research director of George Washington University's Program on Extremism, Choudary's network of extremist followers has numbered in the hundreds, and many have been charged with terrorism offenses in the U.K. or fought and died in Syria with ISIS.

"So the potential for more of them to mobilize is still there," said Meleagrou-Hitchens, who has interviewed several members of the group. "Almost all would be known to authorities though ... There are hundreds of members but only small fraction will act. Knowing which ones will is hard and not an exact science."

Another British expert said Al-Muhajiroun has proven time and again that many of those involved with it are truly "dangerous individuals," justifying the British government's 2010 ban on Choudary's group.

"Thwarting plots relies on an element of luck," said Robin Simcox, a terrorism expert at the Heritage Foundation. "And with 23,000 suspects on the radar, the British Security Services simply don't have the capacity to track everyone that is a potential terror threat."

What else was known as of midnight, and a place to add updates as the day progresses. Yesterday's report is here. Previous reports are linked there.
From the BBC:
  • Two of the attackers named by police as Khuram Shazad Butt and Rachid Redouane

  • Butt was known to police and MI5 but there was no intelligence to suggest an attack, Scotland Yard says

  • Police searched an address in Newham and another in Barking, east London - 12 people were arrested, all are released without charge

  • NHS England says 36 injured remain in hospital, 18 are still in a critical condition

  • General election campaigning has resumed with PM Theresa May and Jeremy Corbyn focusing on security
Pakistan-born Khuram Butt, 27, from Barking, east London, who was known to police, had previously worked for London Underground, Transport for London said.

The other was Rachid Redouane, 30, from Barking, who police said claimed to be Moroccan-Libyan. Redouane, who was a chef, also used the name Rachid Elkhdar and a different birth date. He was not known to police.

He had also lived for a time in Dublin, Ireland's RTE reports.

Redouane married a British woman in Ireland in 2011 before moving back to the UK, it added. They both returned to Ireland in 2016 for a short time before separating.

Documentation, believed to be an identity card, was found after he was shot dead, the broadcaster says.

Barriers are being built on a number of bridges in London following Saturday's attack. They have been described by the Metropolitan Police as "increased security measures".

Westminster Bridge, where a man ploughed a car into pedestrians in March, was the the first to have them installed, the Met said.

The Telegraph liveblog has photos of ringleader Mr. Butt and Mr. Redouane, pastry chef.
Sky News reports that police found Molotov cocktails in the back of the hired van used in the London Bridge attack. At least a dozen bottles filled with clear liquid, which had rags stuffed in their tops, were found in the back of the hired van, and police had treated them as though they were petrol bombs, Sky News said citing unnamed sources.

The third dead attacker is not a UK citizen.

Barriers have been installed on three central London bridges following the latest terror attack to hit the capital. The structures have been introduced to stop traffic from mounting the pavement on Westminster, Lambeth and Waterloo bridges.

Jeremy Corbyn said Isil supporters should not be prosecuted for 'expressing a political point of view'

The killers' final movements: London Bridge terrorist sent a WhatsApp message after posting lines from the Quran, before his accomplice made last visit to his estranged British wife and baby

[DailyMail] Many more photos at the link.
  • Rachid Redouane went to the mother of his 18-month-old girl's flat in Barking to kiss his daughter goodbye

  • Three hours later, Moroccan-born murderer was one of three who killed seven people in the capital's streets

  • Redouane, who also claimed to be Libyan, tried to stop her daughter watching TV in case it turned her gay

  • Khuram Butts' WhatsApp profile reads 'Allah says (Quran 94:6) - Indeed, with hardship, comes ease'

  • He was known to both police and MI5, but because he wasn't 'planning attack', he wasn't deemed a priority

  • The police and MI5 are awaiting international confirmation before naming the third terrorist.
Update at noon EDT. We now have photos and information about all three miscreants, two of whom were known wolves.
Another one we missed? Italians say they tipped off UK about third London Bridge attacker who 'told police "I'm going to be a terrorist" as he was arrested in Bologna trying to travel to Syria'
  • Third London Bridge attacker is named in Italy as Youssef Zaghba, a Moroccan-Italian who is 22 years old

  • Italian newspaper says he was stopped at Bologna airport 'trying to travel to Syria' just last year

  • Security source claims British and Moroccan authorities were warned by Italy about his movements

  • Scotland Yard insist he wasn't 'a police or MI5 subject of interest' as questions grow over attackers

-linked myrmidons. RT traveled to the area to speak exclusively to the group.

The Suicide Squad have rescued more than 500 civilians in the last two weeks, RT’s Charlotte Dubenskij said, reporting from Marawi, on Mindanao island.

"It started on our first mission when it was very dangerous, when most of our members were shot at when trying to save people," Saripada Pacasum, a Suicide Squad member, told RT.

He said the group frequently comes under attack from jihadist fighters, who captured the southern city, which has a predominantly Moslem population, in May.

"Shots were fired when we tried rescuing some. There were also shots in our direction, so it's pretty risky. That's why every time we step out of the scenic provincial capital to engage in saving people, we are also scared that we might not make it," Pacasum said.

Attempts to rescue thousands of civilians trapped in the fierce fighting between government troops and Islamist bully boyz failed on Sunday after a temporary four-hour ceasefire, announced to let rescue workers like the Suicide Squad in, was broken after less than an hour.

Mashal Khan murder: father fears 'influential adversaries', wants case transferred outside Mardan
[DAWN] Mashal Khan's father in a presser on Monday requested that his son's case be transferred to a court outside Mardan alleging that 'influential adversaries' may pose possible hurdles to proceedings.

"I told the Supreme Court (SC) that my lawyer and I cannot afford to fight the case in Mardan because our adversaries are very influential and powerful. Therefore, the case should be transferred to a different court," Muhammad Iqbal Khan told news hounds.

When asked about demands that Mashal’s case be tried in military court, his father said he would stick to his statements if his legal team advises him to.

"Military courts are endorsed by the Parliament and democratic system. That is why I demanded that Mashal Khan’s case be tried in an army court," he clarified.

He admitted to asking the SC to provide protection for his daughters as well, who he claimed were scared of going to school after Mashal Khan’s murder on April 13.

"My kids have never missed school or college. But since Mashal Khan’s incident, my daughters have not been to school or university. So I have asked the court to provide protection for my daughters."

"My son went to university to get an education. We thought he would bring home a degree but his dead body was handed over to us. We demand that boys and girls who are studying in any university must be protected. Their lives come before their education," he added.

CRPF Spokesman Bhuvesh Choudhary claimed that the 'militants' were trying to storm the camp. He added that all four 'militants' were eliminated. There were no injuries on our side, he said.

Four assault rifles, grenades and other ammunition were recovered from the bodies of the slain gunnies, whose identities were not known.

Gülen, two HDP MPs and 127 others face denaturalization within three months
[Hurriyet Daily News] A denaturalization process for U.S.-based Islamic preacher Fethullah Gülen, two lawmakers of the Kurdish issue-focused Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) and 127 others has officially come into effect, according to a notice by the Interior Ministry published in the Official Gazette on June 5.

The ministry’s notice stated that a total of 130 people abroad, who had been probed over terror charges and crimes against the constitutional order, will be denaturalized unless they return and apply to the relevant institutions in the country within a three-month period starting from June 5.

Gülen, who lives in Pennsylvania, is accused of masterminding the failed July 2016 coup attempt and is in 91st place in the list.

Ankara has accused the Fethullahist Terror Organization (FETO) of being behind a long-running campaign to overthrow the state through the infiltration of Turkish institutions, particularly the military, police and judiciary.

According to state-run Anadolu Agency, the list also included Osman Hilmi Özdil, the alleged “police imam” of the Gülen network codenamed Kozanlı Ömer, and he is reported to be in Thailand. An extradition request had previously been filed on him.

Gülen was planning to come to Turkey and lead the coup himself
[Hurriyet Daily News] U.S.-based Islamic preacher Fethullah Gülen was planning to come to Turkey himself to lead the July 2016 coup attempt but could not do so due to health problems, state-run Anadolu Agency reported on June 4, basing its report on information from the Ankara Chief Prosecutor’s Office.

According to a new indictment as a part of the probe into what the government and prosecutors call the Fethullahist Terrorist Organization (FETÖ), the Ankara Chief Prosecutor’s Office has reportedly reached newly decoded emails sent through the Bylock smartphone app, an encrypted messaging application said to have been used by members of FETÖ.

“If my health lets me, I could also take part [in the coup attempt]. But it takes 10 hours to go to Turkey by plane and my heath may not allow it,” one of the members of the organization residing in Africa quoted Gülen as saying in one of the encrypted emails included in the recently prepared indictment.

According to the indictment, another FETÖ member, with the nickname “saliha86,” is reported to have written the following in an email dated Jan. 21, 2016 to a number of members of the organization: “The sermon on Friday was emotional and full of excitement. The whole camp cried very much. ‘Let all of you unite and walk. If we step back from our path, it means we are fickle,’ [Gülen] said. He cried a lot and when he cried we all cried too. ‘There is not long to go. This era will come to an end,’ he said. ‘This is not my own evaluation, the U.S., Russia, and ‘internal dynamics’ have agreed on this [the Turkish government] going,’ he said.”

The indictment also quotes another email again sent to other FETÖ members by the same user, reportedly quoting another of Gülen’s messages: “What goes around comes around in this world. You will see that how those spoiled and arrogant ones, who today seem to be flying in the sky with their vanity, will crash to the ground.”

Turkey insists Germany should extradite suspected Gülenists
[Hurriyet Daily News] Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu once again highlighted on June 5 Ankara’s demand from Berlin to extradite the followers of Fethullah Gülen, the main suspect in the probes into the July 15, 2016 coup attempt.

“Our friend Germany should not be the harbor of our enemies. It’s our natural right to expect our friend and ally to take more serious steps on this issue,” Çavuşoğlu said during a joint press meeting with his visiting German counterpart, Sigmar Gabriel.

Turkey wants Germany to hand over 450 former military personnel and diplomats, as well as senior bureaucrats believed to have links with the coup plotters.

Gabriel, for his part, recalled that asylum requests are being handled by an independent body and relevant judicial institutions and said the German government has no authority in this process.

“Germany is a country of the rule of law,” Gabriel stressed, noting the necessity for the Turkish state to provide strong evidence that the individuals cited were involved in the coup attempt.

holy warriors in Abdidore about 27Km from Kismayu, Somalia.

Sources said the holy warriors had attempted to enter the KDF camp located in the area before being repulsed by the Kenyan soldiers.

Among those killed in the botched attack was a mid-level al-Shabaab commander, said to have been coordinating the raid on the KDF camp.

According to sources, the holy warriors had used two vehicles laden with explosives to try and gain entry into the camp but were neutralised by the Kenyan forces.

The terror group on sensing defeat retreated as KDF fired heavy artillery on them.

The latest confrontation between KDF and al-Shabaab comes just hours after the terror group attempted second attack on Kulbiyow on Friday night, June 2.

The holy warriors briefly overrun the camp belonging to SNA for hours and bombarded the KDF camp nearby with mortars.

According to reports, al-Shabaab suffered heavy losses after KDF heavily bombed the town of Kulbiyow as the holy warriors were retreating.

Police security alert as thieves steal secret documents 'from car of West Midlands counter terrorism chief'
[BirminghamMail] West Midlands Police has launched an urgent investigation after confidential and highly classified documents were stolen from a car used by its head of counter terrorism.

An unmarked vehicle used by Assistant Chief Constable Marcus Beale was targeted by thieves who took a locked box containing the secret papers. The box was locked in the boot.

West Midlands Police has now launched an investigation after the theft of the classified documents on May 15.

Mr Beale remains at work.

Mr Beale holds the security portfolio with responsibility for West Midlands Counter Terrorism Unit (WMCTU) and local policing in Birmingham.

He is also the force's lead for equality, diversity, and human rights, and health and safety.

Mr Beale joined the West Midlands force in June 2011 as an experienced ACC, having served at that rank for the previous four years with Staffordshire Police.

According to the West Midlands Police website, he has had significant command responsibilities for WMCTU operations. It states: "These operations have disrupted some of the most significant UK mainland terrorist plots in recent years, including the 'London Stock Exchange' plot in 2010, the foiled suicide attack plan in 2011, and the failed attack on the Dewsbury EDL in 2012."

Last year Mr Beale was one of four former Staffordshire Police officers told they would face no action over a investigation into the murder of Kevin Nunes,

Yacqub Khayre carried out an 'ISIS-inspired' attack in Melbourne's south-east
[Daily Mail, Where America Gets Its News] An ice-addicted African refugee on parole who had links to Somalia-based terrorist group al-Shabaab
... Somalia's version of the Taliban, functioning as an arm of al-Qaeda...
was behind an ISIS-inspired attack on the streets of Melbourne.

Yacqub Khayre murdered one man, maimed three coppers and took a woman hostage in a dramatic two-hour siege in a hotel on Bay Street, Brighton, on Monday.

Police say the hostage was a sex worker Khayre had hired through an escort agency, posing as a client, and then tied up as he hid inside the building armed with a sawn-off shotgun and wearing a balaclava and gloves.

The 29-year-old refugee rubbed out a hotel attendant, an Australian national born in China, as part of a trap to lure police into 'The Buckingham' serviced apartments.

Just before 6pm, he appeared in the foyer of the hotel, firing shots at waiting tactical command officers heavily armed and wearing bullet-proof vests.

Three officers were struck by bullet fragments, one in the neck, while Khayre was fatally maimed during an exchange of 'severe' gunfire, ending the two-hour siege.

But questions have since risen over why the man, who carried out a violent meth-fuelled home invasion just months after he was accused of planning a suicide kaboom against Sydney's Holsworthy army barracks, wasn't just deported back to Somalia.
Ynet adds:
ISIS claims responsibility for Melbourne attack in Australia, according to Amaq News Agency.
And from Al Ahram:
The Seven Network television said it had received a phone call from a man who said: "This is for IS. This is for al-Qaeda" shortly before the shootout.

He was released around 1990 in a deal with the United States government and spent nearly two decades in the United States, gaining US citizenship. In 1993, while living in the United States, he was convicted in absentia of crimes against the Jamahiriya and sentenced to death. Haftar held a senior position in the anti-Qadaffy forces in the 2011 Libyan Civil War. In 2014 he was commander of the Libyan Army when the General National Congress (GNC) refused to give up power in accordance with its term of office. Haftar launched a campaign against the GNC and its Islamic fundamentalist allies. His campaign allowed elections to take place to replace the GNC, but then developed into a civil war. The GNA, formed in 2015, has struggled to exert its authority in Tripoli and beyond, or rein in gangs, including ISIS, that have held power on the ground since the country's 2011 uprising.

Haftar, a retired army general, is the self-proclaimed commander of the Libyan National Army (LNA).

"Fresh fighting has erupted between forces loyal to renegade commander Khalifa Haftar and forces loyal to the UN-backed GNA, helped by the Benghazi Defence Brigades in the area of al-Jufra in the central desert of Libya," Al Jazeera's Mahmoud Abdelwahed, reporting from Tripoli, said.

Jufra is about 400km to the south of Sirte.

He said fighter jets, believed to be Egyptian, attacked 14 locations in Jufra overnight on Thursday, "including several residential areas and the Jufra airbase used by the UN-backed GNA forces".

While there were no reports of casualties, our correspondent said the air raids had caused heavy material losses to GNA military points and installations.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Federal contractor Reality Leigh Winner arrested for sending classified NSA intelligence to news outlet
[WASHINGTONEXAMINER] A 25-year-old federal contractor is facing charges she leaked a classified National Security Agency document to a news outlet in May.
Lots more gym time coming her way.
The charges against Reality Leigh Winner came about an hour after the publication of a story based on an NSA document detailing Russian attempts to hack American voting systems in 2016.
Charges against Reality came after only an hour? Bad smell here. Further investigation into 'discovery' warranted.
President Trump has been pushing Justice to go after leakers inside the federal government, which he has identified as "the big story" when it comes to Russia's involvement in the 2016 presidential election. Winner's arrest could signal the federal government is going to aggressively investigate and prosecute individuals who send classified intelligence to news organizations.

Trump and other Republican allies in Washington have made pursuing leakers one of their top priorities, but Winner is the first to face charges for releasing classified intelligence.

Winner, of Augusta, Ga., is facing charges that she removed classified material from a government facility and mailed it to a news outlet. She was placed in durance vile
Drop the rosco, Muggsy, or you're one with the ages!
on Saturday and appeared on the charge Monday.

The announcement came shortly after The Intercept published a report based on a classified intelligence document showing Russian government hackers attempted to hack more than 100 local election officials before the November election.

According to the report, Russian military intelligence sent the emails to local elections officials. They also attempted a cyberattack on at least one American voting software supplier.

The Justice Department didn't confirm that Winner leaked the document to The Intercept, but the report stated the report received by the news outlet was dated May 5. The affidavit confirms the intelligence document was also dated on May 5.
The Daily Mail adds:
Winner's social media posts appeared to show her repeatedly express her frustration with the Trump administration, while she also appears to have supported Bernie Sanders
...The only openly Socialist member of the U.S. Senate. Sanders was Representative-for-Life from Vermont until moving to the Senate for the rest of his life in 2006, assuming the seat vacated by Jim Jeffords...
during the election.
Another one? She's lucky to be facing President Trump instead of Candidate Hillary Clinton -- she's likely to live much longer, even if it is in a federal prison.

[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The Afghan Intelligence, National Directorate of Security
...the Afghan national intel agency...
(NDS), released its new findings regarding the coordinated suicide kaboom on Salim Izadyar’s funeral ceremony in Kabul.

The new findings were released after the arrest of one of the remaining jacket wallahs and twelve other holy warriors who were apparently detained during an operation today.

According to NDS, the suicide bombers were trained in Mawlavi Ahmad Madrasa located in Chaman area of Quetta city of Pakistain and were sent to Kabul for the suicide attack.

NDS further added that the suicide bombers managed to pass through strict security measures by placing the explosives inside their shoes.

A group of at least three suicide bombers who had disguised themselves as funeral participants detonated their explosives among the prayer participants, leaving scores of people dead or maimed.

Salim Izadyar, the son of Mohammad Alam Izadyar, the first deputy house speaker of the Afghan Senate, was killed during the violent protests in Kabul on Friday.

The Ministry of Interior confirmed 6 people were killed and 87 others were maimed in the coordinated kabooms targeting the burial ceremony of Mohammad Salim Izadyar.

Britain
British officials eye burka ban and stripping citizenship
[FOXNEWS] After yet another deadly terrorist attack swept through the streets of Britannia late Saturday, politicians and leaders were scrambling to take back the reins and foil any further tragedies.

British Prime Minister Theresa May, speaking Sunday after a meeting of the government’s COBRA emergency committee, claimed there was "too much tolerance" of Islamist extremism in the U.K. and insisted that the country’s counterterrorism strategy would be reviewed.

While such reviews remain in preliminary stages, a British intelligence source told Fox News that it is an "all hands at the pump" approach, with Joint Intelligence Operations to be carried out collaboratively with M15, Scotland Yard and the Army’s Special Air Service (SAS) all involved.

The points of focus include: recruiting and deploying even more counterterrorism officers, and pushing through new laws to "round up" suspected snuffies and, if convicted, stripping them of their citizenship as a deterrent.

"There is also early talk that things could go as far as banning the burka," the source said.

The burka debate has, for more than a decade, divided much of the British community. In 2006, MP and government minister Jack Straw first advocated support for such a prohibition in the media, but several years later apologized following the backlash. Nearby European countries such as La Belle France, Austria, Germany and Belgium have, over the years, implemented different degrees of legislation to restrict the wearing of full-face veils.

"It is just whispers at the moment, but if that goes live, one would guess that it will be enforced across the U.K.," the source noted.

Furthermore, the U.K. government is said to be planning how to dismantle the pockets of extremism and enforce better mechanism for community integration.

"There are a lot of Moslem strongholds in the U.K. from London and Luton to Birmingham, Burnley and Blackburn," added the intel source. "Right now, through weak policies, we have allowed the fundamentalists to spoil it for the majority."

British authorities also are said to be looking at ways to "force large Internet companies to ban krazed killer material on their search engines and additionally report any content that they find."

In her address Sunday, May vowed that the Internet could no longer function as a "safe space" for jihadism. Another intelligence source confirmed that May’s focus is very much on the role of the Internet ‐ restricting and monitoring ‐ in the quest to infiltrate where cells congregate and how they communicate.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Compilation: Syrian rebel forces capture more areas near Raqqa
Raqqa (SyriaNews.media) The Syrian Democratic Forces, on Monday, managed to retake several towns and villages in the northern and western country sides of Raqqa, Qasioun News reported.

The Syrian Democratic Forces also advanced toward Mazraet Heteen, Mazraet al-Kahtaneya, Mazraet Rabea, Hawi al-Hawa Village and al-Khatouniya Village, west of Raqqa, after battles with the Islamic State, amid mutual shelling.

The city of Raqqa is suffering difficult humanitarian situation, due to the lack of water, electricity and communications.

Noteworthy, Syrian Democratic Forces recently controlled several areas in eastern, northern and western Raqqa, backed by the international coalition air force.

More from ARA:
The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) on Monday captured three villages in the northern countryside of Raqqa province, in northeastern Syria, after clashes with ISIS militants.

The US-backed SDF troops took control of the villages of Hawi Hawa, Yaroubiya and Abu Sus.

“Our forces were able to liberate these villages in northern Raqqa after clashes with Daesh terrorists,” a SDF spokesman told ARA News, using another acronym for ISIS.

At least 36 ISIS militants were killed in the clashes, and 20 more were taken prisoners.

“The rest of the militants withdrew towards Raqqa city under heavy blows by the SDF forces,” the official said.

The SDF fighters have tightened their siege on Raqqa city, the de facto capital of ISIS, amid preparations to storm the city in a major military operation support by the US-led coalition.

Kurds, Syrian rebels launch new operations towards Raqqa

[ARA News] The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) is announcing on Tuesday the official start of the operation to liberate the city of Raqqa from Islamic State’s (ISIS) militants.

Senior Kurdish officials have confirmed that the SDF is holding a press conference on Tuesday to announce the official start of the liberation of Raqqa city.

The SDF forces will release a statement to launch the final stage of liberating Raqqa, which includes a major assault on the city of Raqqa–ISIS’s de facto capital.

The Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım on Sunday said that the operation began on June 2. However, John Dorian, a spokesman for US-led coalition, said that no end date was set for the start of the liberation campaign. Earlier on Saturday, the official spokesman of the YPG [leading member of the SDF] said the key operation will start in days.

On Monday, the SDF tightened the siege on ISIS in Raqqa city after liberating three more villages in its northern countryside and killing at least 36 ISIS militants.

“The Syrian Democratic Forces continue to close in on ISIS around Raqqa. The SDF has gained about 350 square kilometers from ISIS in the last week. The SDF is poised around Raqqa. They’re within three kilometers of Raqqa City from the north and the east, and are about 10 kilometers from the city to the west,” coalition spokesperson Army Colonel Ryan Dillon said.

“The coalition continues to service ISIS targets with precision air and artillery strikes as the enemy attempts to strengthen their defenses in and around Raqqa. The coalition conducted 59 strikes in support of the isolation of Raqqa this past week, hitting fighting positions, construction equipment, artillery systems and command and control nodes,” he added.

“The Syrian Democratic Forces have given instructions for citizens of Raqqa to vacate. Currently, Raqqa IDPs right now are almost 200,000, with 92,000 of them in camps. Other ones are in settlements that are just built-up settlements,” Dillon stated.

Moreover, he said that the SDF and the Raqqa Civilian Council have made the decision to ask civilians to depart as opposed to staying in Raqqa.

“As far as asking them to leave, that is a decision, just as the decision for the initial stages of Mosul, for civilians to stay, was by the government of Iraq and the Iraqi Security Forces. The same applies here in Raqqa,” he said.

The progress comes as part of the US-backed Euphrates Wrath Operation to liberate Raqqa province from ISIS jihadists.

On 13 April, the Syrian Democratic Forces launched the fourth phase of the Euphrates Wrath Operation against Islamic State’s extremists to clear out the northern countryside of Raqqa.

During the first phase of Euphrates Wrath, which began on November 6, 2016, the SDF liberated roughly 560 km² in Northern Raqqa.

On 10 December, 2016, the SDF launched the second phase of the Euphrates Wrath, during which it captured over 2500 km² in Western Raqqa.

On 4 February, 2017, the Syrian Democratic Forces launched the third phase of the Euphrates Wrath Operation, and liberated dozens of villages in Eastern Raqqa from ISIS jihadists.

The campaign is ultimately aimed at liberating the city of Raqqa from ISIS extremists.

Iraq
Mosul Offensive News

Iraqi forces attack Mosul from south

Mosul (IraqiNews.com) Iraqi Federal Police forces on Monday aimed again at the strategic, Islamic State-held Old City from the southern entrances, reopening an old front they had ceded late April.

The service’s chief, Lt. Gen. Shaker Jawdat, said early Monday that his forces, backed by army warplanes, started attacking Islamic State militants’ defenses south of the Old City, killing seven members before besieging Bab al-Jadid neighborhood.

Jawdat said his forces had also run into a prison run by Islamic State militants in the recaptured district of 17 Tamuz. He said forces found corpses of two men and a woman who had apparently been “brutally killed” before the prison was set to fire.

21 ISIS troops smoked in quick attack

Mosul (IraqiNews.com) Iraqi special forces killed early Monday 21 Islamic State members in a snap operation at a western Mosul district where troops struggle to invade on their way to the strategic Old City.

Speaking to Shafaaq News website, Cap. Abdul-Wadoud al-Anbari said the Interior Ministry’s Rapid Response teams and the army’s 9th division killed 21 militants, including five snipers, in al-Shefa district, one of the last three districts surrounding the IS-held Old City area.

Since late April, Iraqi forces began a push towards the medieval Old City from the northwest, retaking several surrounding districts. At present, only three neighborhoods around the Old City remain under IS control: Zanjili, al-Sihha and al-Shefa.

The Old City was the place where Islamic State’s supreme leader, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, declared the establishment of the group’s rule in Iraq and Syria.

The area’s impassable alleyways have made it hard for army and police vehicles to go through, and the existence of at least 200.000 civilians under IS captivity has also slowed down the pace of operations, according to Iraqi generals.

5 die in Mosul operations

Mosul (IraqiNews.com) One special police force officer and four civilians were killed on Monday during battles against Islamic State militants in western Mosul, security and local sources said.

Shafaaq News website quoted a security source that a lieutenant colonel at the Interior Ministry’s Rapid Response forces was killed during battles in Zanjili, one of the last three remaining districts around the Old City, the medieval district which stands as Islamic State’s last bastion in western Mosul.

Local residents also told the website that four members of one family were killed in an airstrike by warplanes from the U.S.-led coalition in Mashahda neighborhood. Three houses were destroyed in the strike, according to the sources.

Late Sunday, Ali al-Karbalai, a lieutenant from the Rapid Response forces, told Anadolu Agency that 32 Iraqi soldiers were killed in 24 hours in suicide attacks by Islamic State militants in al-Shefa and Zanjili districts.

Arabia
Hamas commander involved in kidnap of Israeli teens expelled from Qatar
[IsraelTimes] Saleh al-Arouri now reportedly in Malaysia after being told to leave Doha along with several other Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, terror chiefs.

A Paleostinian terrorist believed by Israeli intelligence officials to have planned the kidnap and murder of three Jewish teens in the West Bank in the summer of 2014 has been expelled from Qatar
...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates...
Paleostinian sources confirmed Monday that the kingdom -- now embroiled in a boycott by Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
and four other Arab states -- asked several top Hamas officials to leave for Leb, The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
and Malaysia.

The sources contradicted Hamas’s denial of the expulsion orders, which were first reported over the weekend by the Lebanese-based Al Mayadeen news channel.

On Sunday, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, the UAE and Egypt decided to cut ties with Qatar and boot it out of an Arab coalition fighting in Yemen, claiming that it supported Iran and Islamist terrorism. Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of. Except for a tiny handfull of Jews everthing there is very Islamic...
joined the boycott on Monday.

The list of Hamas officials Qatar has asked to leave its territory -- reportedly gleaned from interrogations of Paleostinian security prisoners in Israel -- included Saleh al-Arouri, said to be the group’s military commander in the West Bank and the founder of the West Bank branch of Hamas’s military wing, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades.

According to Army Radio, Arouri is now in Malaysia following his expulsion from Qatar.

Arouri served several terms in Israeli jails, and was released in March 2010, apparently within the framework of talks to free Gilad Shalit, the IDF corporal kidnapped by Hamas in 2006.

According to the Ynet news site, Arouri went on to be involved in sewing up the deal that provided for the release of more than 1,000 Paleostinian prisoners from Israeli jails in return for the freeing of Shalit.

Israeli intelligence officials believe that Arouri helped plan the June 2014 kidnapping and murder of three Israeli teens -- Gil-ad Shaar, Eyal Yifrach and Naftali Fraenkel.

That event was followed by a sharp crackdown on Hamas operatives in the West Bank by Israel, to which Hamas responded with heavy rocket fire into Israel. The rocket fire was answered, in turn, by Israel’s launching of a major operation against Gazoo, which turned into all-out war between Hamas and the Jewish state during the summer of 2014.

In addition to Arouri, Hamas terrorist Musa Dudin, who was released from an Israeli prison under the Shalit deal, was also expelled from Qatar, according to Army Radio. The report did not say which country he was expelled to.

Qatari officials have reportedly apologized for having to expel Hamas officials, but said it came as a result of "external pressures" on Doha, without giving details.

Baltimore starts tearing down 17,000 abandoned crack homes after decades of social decline
[Daily Mail] A dilapidated block of homes in Baltimore has been demolished as part of a $94 million project to tear down a chunk of the 17,000 abandoned homes in the neighborhood.

More than 800 crumbling homes have already been razed and this section of Herbert Street in West Baltimore is the latest to be reduced to rubble.

The homes - many of which are riddled with asbestos and lead paint - have come to symbolize the deep social divide in Baltimore.
Roofs have caved in on the abandoned rowhomes, boards are fastened to the doors and window frames and the streets are littered with garbage.

Social virtue is allowed to trump the consequences of reality in their hands. While all the Lefties decried the 'white flight' they ignored the upper and middle class black flight that real desegregation provide for. How much of the downward spiral for cities like Detroit and Baltimore could be traced to a combination of forced busing, decline in discipline (which further fueled the flight), and the lowering of academic standards (they're racist!) as parents of all colors took to the suburbs and elsewhere? /rhet question.

The Grand Turk
Fight over religious affairs directorate
[Hurriyet Daily News] There is currently an argument happening over the Directorate of Religious Affairs (Diyanet). In order to get the head of Diyanet, Mehmet Görmez, to forcefully resign, he has been accused of being a member of the Fethullahist Terrorist Organization (FETÖ).

This fight is significant because the stance of Diyanet is very important regarding religion, which is a delicate matter concerning wide segments of the society.

The academic-based understanding of religion by the theology community in The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
has always been different from an understanding based on mysticism and the anecdotes of certain communities; they have even been conflicting.

In line with its founding principle, Diyanet is a religious institution where more and more theology academics are employed. As opposed to the old madrasa, Diyanet represents a religious understanding that is more open to scientific methods such as history and sociology and thus capable of reconsidering religious sciences such as interpretation, hadith and kalam in terms of "methodology."

Diyanet encourages reaching a religious knowledge through reading and reviewing books and researching, instead of relying on popular mystic authorities such as the sheikh - "his highness effendi."

These two functions of Diyanet will of course advance further in time. Considering what the religious understandings of other Moslem countries have caused, the significance and the positive role of Diyanet can easily be acknowledged.

Professor Görmez started his academic career studying Musa Jarullah Bigeev, who was a much respected philosopher and theologian from the Kazan Turks; he was an innovative thinker.

His academic focus is on hadith, which are the words and actions of Prophet Muhammad. This is a field where endless debates have been held in the past and today. In history, there have been severe discussions between the traditionalist hadith interpreters and theologians who bring new interpretations.

In one of his books, Görmez wrote that a great scholar in the 8th century Abu Yusuf has said: "The rumors of hadith are constantly increasing."

Several hadiths have been made up later for certain reasons such as to excite the masses, feed the mystic sentiment, to collect supporters and to get in someone’s good books. This was fed by legends and rumors in different cultures.

Farage says calls for internment camps for terrorist suspects could grow in Britain
[RT] People in Britain may start to call for terrorist suspects to be put into internment camps if something is not done to prevent further attacks after three major incidents in three months, former UKIP leader Nigel Farage says.
Whoa! Think of all the opportunities for pix of pathetic-looking Moslem kids grasping the wire and staring at the photographer!
In a debate on the right-wing Murdoch-owned Fox News, Farage discussed the idea of suspects being rounded up and detained without trial. Internment has rarely been used in the UK.

It was last used during the Troubles, in which hundreds of Irish people suspected of being involved with the Irish Republican Army (IRA) in the 1970s were rounded up.
