Top Intel Community Officials Deny That Trump Pressured Them On Russia Probe
[Breitbart] The directors of the Office of National Intelligence and the National Security Agency testified on Wednesday that they have not been pressured by President Trump on the ongoing Russia investigation, undercutting recent reports that they were.

Dan Coats, the director of national intelligence, and Adm. Mike Rogers, the director of NSA, largely declined to discuss details about their interactions with Trump when pressed on the matter during a Senate Intelligence Committee hearing.

According to news reports published last month, Trump asked both Coats and Rogers to rebut stories that Trump was under investigation as part of the Russia probe.

Both Coats and Rogers reportedly felt uncomfortable with the requests from Trump.

TRUMP SUPPORTERS FIGHT BACK! CA Congresswoman Walks Off Stage After Trump Supporters Shout "We love Trump"…"Respect Our President" [VIDEO]
When Rep Nannette Barragán (D-CA) held a town hall in her district, she was surprised by a large number of patriots who showed up to challenge her agenda and her anti-Trump rhetoric. Trump supporters began by demanding she open the meeting with the pledge of allegiance. When Barragán refused to honor our flag, Trump supporters took it upon themselves to start the meeting with the pledge to our flag. Things turned ugly when the congresswoman chose to use her opening comments to trash our current president...

Rep. Nanette Barragán (D-CA), a first-year congresswoman from the 44th congressional district, abandoned a town hall meeting on Friday evening in the city of Carson in Los Angeles County after she was faced with an overwhelmingly pro-Trump audience.

According to video filmed by one of the protesters, very few of Rep. Barragán’s constituents showed up for the meeting at a local school, and even fewer of her supporters. Meanwhile, dozens of Trump supporters filled the front rows. ‐Breitbart

When the congresswoman decided to walk off the stage, she was followed out by Trump supporters who were peppering her with legitimate questions about her support for illegal aliens and climate change. She refused to answer the questions. Barragán even went as far as to move the meeting to another location where she could speak to only those who agree with her positions.

It’s time to take our country back and Americans can’t rely on President Trump to do it all by himself...

Government
Clapper sez Trump-Russia Worse then Watergate
The Watergate scandal, considered one of the greatest political scandals of the twentieth century, refers to the U.S. government's involvement in a range of illegal activities under the Nixon administration, including a break-in at the Democratic National Committee's Watergate headquarters.

In a speech to Australia's National Press Club Wednesday, Clapper said, "I have to say though that I think when you compare the two, Watergate pales, really, in my view, compared to what we're confronting now."
A little premature, wouldn't you say, General? Weren't the Watergate burglars caught by the police doing something illegal? Anybody caught Trump on the wrong side of a locked door?

#3  Further proof that Clapper was a traitorous political asshole, not actually service to his country, but to his ideology instead. His deliberate blindness to Obama's use of intel and ignoring the law is abominable and unforgivable. In a just world, we would have left office head first through the window of the upper floot.

Fifth Column
Gloria Allred Gets Sued By A Former Client
I love karma - couldn't happen to a nicer battleax.
A former client of Gloria Allred has filed a lawsuit against the celebrity attorney for legal malpractice and fraud, claiming she negligently represented him during a case. Kyle Hunter, a local television weatherman, hired Allred to go after CBS for allegedly discriminating against him in favor of younger, attractive female meteorologists. His lawsuit filed on Tuesday contends Allred botched his legal case, and didn’t properly notify him that she was working with CBS to produce a legal drama inspired by her life -- an obvious conflict of interest, he claims.
...
The legal action comes on the heels of recent reports that Allred is under investigation by the State Bar of California.

Britain
Nursery worker stabbed in Wanstead by three women shouting:
Welcome to Ramadan in the colonies, folks.
[IlfordRecorder] A nursery worker was stabbed by three women on a busy high street this morning.

Karrien Stevens, who runs Little Diamonds nursery in Hermon Hill, confirmed that one of her staff was slashed by three women while on her way to work from Wanstead High Street.

While the woman waited at the junction with Hermon Hill at 9.30am, she was attacked from behind by the trio, according to Ms Stevens.

Ms Stevens said the victim told her the assailants then shouted: “Allah, Allah.”

The Met have confirmed that Counter Terrorism Command were aware of the incident but were not leading the investigation.

The nursery director said they then pulled the woman to the ground and stabbed her in the arm before running off down the street.

After being seen by paramedics, the victim was escorted round the local area to help spot her assailants but was unsuccessful.

A Metropolitan Police spokeswoman said: “We were called at 9.36am to reports of a stabbing in Hermon Hill.

“Officers responding to the scene discovered a woman in her 30s who had suffered slash wounds. Her injuries are not life threatening but she has been taken to hospital as a precaution.

“The three suspects fled the scene before police officers arrived and they are still not accounted for.”

Ms Stevens told the Recorder: “It’s scary that something like this can happen right in front of your doorstep.

“What is going on at the moment out there? It’s ridiculous. I don’t know what these people were hoping to achieve.”

Some schools reportedly stopped children from going outside earlier today.

A Redbridge Council spokeswoman said: “Redbridge Council were advised of a reported stabbing in the north of the borough this morning.

“We informed schools and early years providers of this incident and advised them to take precautions to keep children safe until we could clarify the situation. We have now given them updated information and advice.”

She was attacked from behind and then stabbed in the arm as her assailants chanted 'Allah', however police are not treating it as a terrorist incident.

"Asian" women dressed all in black ambush a white girl with knife, fists, and kicks for Ramadan funsies, only running off when a man intervenes. This isn't a terrorist incident involving mass casualties, 'tis true, merely the new normal for conquered England. No reason for the police to bestir themselves.

Leftism: An Incurable Disease - You may be carrying some of its symptoms
[American Spectator] Call it Global Stockholm Syndrome, Mass Psychogenic Illness, or the Leftist Plague, as it will be called, in a hundred years, by grandparents who are explaining to their grandchildren the demise of Western civilization. The disease that leaves the sufferer with not an ounce of critical thinking ability -- and, yes, leftism is a disease, one that is airborne, one that is spreading rapidly, and one that, sadly, there is no cure for.

First, we have to diagnose leftism, in the hopes that we can one day find a cure and even better, a vaccine to save future children the pain and suffering that goes along with this horrible disease. So, if you think you are coming down with symptoms, or fear loved ones are, or that 90 percent of your Facebook page has been infected with the leftist plague, here are the 20 ways of the "am I," or "are you," or "are they" leftist test:

1. Climate change is more of a threat than Islamic extremism.
2. You think the cure for terrorism is a hug.
3. You think the president or people on the right are more dangerous than Islamic terrorism.
4. You watch The View.
5. You think Joe and Mika make a cute couple.
6. You were saddened by the television show Girls being canceled.
7. You have more disdain for friends who think differently than jihadists who want to kill you.
8. You need a "safe space."
9. You think people should be fired for free speech.
10. You find yourself protesting in Birkenstocks.
11. You agree with Tucker’s second guest.
12. The president has caused you to lose sleep, given you rashes, harmed your sex life, or "broken you."
13. You are or want to be a pundit on CNN or MSNBC.
14. You find Samantha Bee even mildly amusing.
15. You take ten private jets to a climate change summit
16. You have private armed security and call for gun control.
17. You are in the entertainment industry; yes, there are a handful of exceptions, and I mean a handful.
18. You have had a sexual fantasy featuring Bernie Sanders or 19. Sarah Silverman and think a summer home in Venezuela sounds romantic.
19. You find Don Lemon informative.
20. You haven’t laughed once while reading this.

The list could keep going, and leftism, like alcoholism, is a disease that only the sufferer can truly diagnose. But, if you have answered "yes" to at least one of these, I would highly suggest getting immediate medical attention. If you are not seeing a psychiatrist, there is no time like the present, and if you get that message asking if this is a medical emergency, please call 911; please do. If you have answered "yes" to three or more of these questions, an exorcism would be more beneficial. I’m afraid that, even with all the advances in modern medicine and therapy, your disease might be beyond human repair.

#2  Well, I think #20 could also be a symptom of advance cynicism. I didn't laugh at any of them because a) I didn't know most of the names referenced; b) anything having to do with leftism is NOT funny but nauseatingly gross.

New York Times - Comey Told Sessions: Don't Leave Me Alone With Trump (Video)
[NYT] WASHINGTON -- The day after President Trump asked James B. Comey, the F.B.I. director, to end an investigation into his former national security adviser, Mr. Comey confronted Attorney General Jeff Sessions and said he did not want to be left alone again with the president, according to current and former law enforcement officials.

Mr. Comey believed Mr. Sessions should protect the F.B.I. from White House influence, the officials said, and pulled him aside after a meeting in February to tell him that private interactions between the F.B.I. director and the president were inappropriate. But Mr. Sessions could not guarantee that the president would not try to talk to Mr. Comey alone again, the officials said.

Mr. Comey did not reveal, however, what had so unnerved him about his Oval Office meeting with the president: Mr. Trump’s request that the F.B.I. director end the investigation into the former national security adviser, Michael T. Flynn, who had just been fired. By the time Mr. Trump fired Mr. Comey last month, Mr. Comey had disclosed the meeting to a few of his closest advisers but nobody at the Justice Department, according to the officials, who did not want to be identified discussing Mr. Comey’s interactions with Mr. Trump and Mr. Sessions.

Mr. Comey will be the center of attention on Thursday during testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee, where he is expected to be quizzed intensely about his interactions with Mr. Trump and why he decided to keep secret the president’s request to end the Flynn investigation.

#2  I agree Besoeker, the NYTs is reporting this and they do have serious credibility problems. I'd also give Comey 4 Pinocchio on just about anything he would say.

If Comey is afraid to be alone with Trump, he should have been fired--not the right guy for the FBI.

It is difficult to predict what Comey might say tomorrow but he is in a bind. If he says Trump obstructed justice, Comey has a problem because if he didn't report it, it is a felony. Everyone thinks he will stop short of saying Trump obstructed justice. Maybe we will learn something on other related issues tomorrow; maybe not.

This is the first time that I have heard anyone in the media propose such a coordinated effort. If you stop and think about it, it does enable the removal of Lynch from the Clinton investigation equation and 'dead ends' the entire effort (with minor Clinton cuts and bruises) at the feet of Clinton loyalist Comey.

The cover then continued with the Hildebeest harmlessly blaming Comey for her election loss.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Seth Rich murder investigation update
[Daily Caller] A White House petition urging Congress to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate the murder of Democratic National Committee (DNC) staffer Seth Rich is halfway to its goal before a June 18 deadline.

"The MSM [mainstream media] is not covering this murder, instead pushing it to the side, so it is now up to us," the petition asserts. "The facts do not add up, law enforcement stopped covering the crime, and now it is time for us to fight for justice."

Under former President Barack Obama, the White House would respond to any "We the People" petition that received over 100,000 signatures within 30 days from the time of its posting. As of Tuesday afternoon, the Seth Rich petition needed 49,745 signatures to reach 100,000.

Launched in September 2011 as a public relations tool for the Obama administration, it is unclear if the Trump administration plans to continue with the "We the People" petition system. The Daily Caller News Foundation reached out to the White House for further information, but did not hear back by press time.

#5  its hard for me to understand the focus on this

- why murder a guy if you thought he had already sent files by email - isn't that too late by far and isn't killing him on the street taking way too big a chance

- since we know that DNC email was stolen via a phishing and hacking scheme (we know this because one of the email chains discusses this), why bother w Mr Rich who wasn't a hacker

the sad fact is that in DC there are many unsolved murders, even in good neighborhood and, yes, sometimes a robber hears a noise and doesn't steal what he wanted to steal because he is afraid of being seen

#6  - why murder a guy if you thought he had already sent files by email - isn't that too late by far and isn't killing him on the street taking way too big a chance

LG, retribution and a signal to others who might have similar notions. Not that much risk. There are many cutouts between those who make the decisions and those who actually do the deeds. In a list of unsolved murders in Washington, DC in 2016 around the time of the Seth Rich murder, he is a standout among those murders: Unsolved DC murders. This doesn't prove anything other than the Rich murder is "unusual." There are so many unanswered questions and pushback from the media and the left, that one has to ask "Why?"
Posted by: JohnQC || 06/07/2017 9:04 Comments || Top||

#7  No, Podestas emails were phished. The DNC emails were leaked by Seth Rich. They are two separate events.

Everyone go sign the petition! The best way to put theories to rest is sunlight. A thorough investigation with an arrest and conviction.

Shot twice and not robbed, in a safe neighborhood, a political operative under a cloud...if this had happened in the Philippines or Bangladesh we'd all be chuckling about how it was obviously an assassination.

#12  harcourt

its true that Podesta worked for the Clinton campaign, not the DNC, however, the timing of the leaked emails indicates they were acquired about the same time and we also know that there were phishing attacks on the DNC (IIRC, current thinking by security firms is that at least three people were hacked in the DNC)

Kim Dotcom, who has been charged with various crimes in the US which seeks extradition from NZ, hasn't provided any actual evidence.

What's more, he seems to have discovered Seth Rich's involvement in May 2017, a year after the killing of Mr. Rich. He claims, in May 2017, to have discussed these matters with Mr. Rich in 2015 (not in 2016 when Rich was killed). This leads me to think Kim is blowing smoke.

Britain
Brother of London jihad mass-murderer was paid by UK Govt to ‘fight extremism'
BLUF: [Geller Report] The brother of the man behind the brutal massacre of seven people in the London Bridge terror attack had actually been paid by police to fight extremism, despite it going on within his own home.

Saad Butt, 29, brother of murderer Khuram, 27, was involved in the Government’s ‘Prevent’ programme set up to counter extremist groups.

His actions are a far cry from his younger brother, who led the three-man death squad who went on a bloodthirsty stabbing frenzy in Borough Market on Saturday night, injuring a further 48 people.

The news has prompted further questions as to how authorities missed Khuram’s bloodthirsty plans when they worked so closely with one of his blood relatives.

He was even being investigated by anti-terror forces in 2015 but was deemed a ‘low priority’ with police saying there was ‘no evidence he was planning an attack’.

#6  From #5's link:

The terrorists, though, have succeeded in turning the police agents sent to spy on them and forcing them to commit suicide attacks to expiate their sins. This has become depressingly familiar; as Ryan Gallagher reported recently, perpetrators already known to the authorities committed ten of the highest-profile attacks between 2013 and 2015.

The terrorists, in other words, are adding insult to injury. By deploying police snitches as suicide attackers, terrorists assert their moral superiority and power over western governments. The message may be lost on the western public, whose security agencies and media do their best to obscure it, but it is well understood among the core constituencies of the terrorist groups: the superiority of Islam turns around the depraved criminals whom the western police send to spy on us, and persuades them to become martyrs for the cause of Islam.

MI5 MIA: British Security Missing In Action. Reliably So.
[Mercer] A degenerate culture, filming and fawning over the most dangerous individuals in society, who are free to roam around and plot murder: UK’s Channel 4 produced a TV documentary, The Jihadis Next Door, strarring featuring one of the London Bridge attackers, Khuram Butt. Butt was not on the lam, or being apprehended by UK Insecurity Forces, or hunkering in a bunker in Iraq. He was parading around in Barking, east London, broadcasting his intentions. Pretty much.

Even the Imam at the mosque expelled Butt for his murderous lust, but not his British protectors. There were warnings. Scotland Yard? MI5? All missing in action. Always. Isn’t abnegation by the State Security apparatus the norm, rather than the exception? A norm the sheeple agree to live with?

British authorities hound, even jail, English men and women found in contempt of Islam. But never the reverse.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Iran's parliament and Khomeini mausoleum attacked by gunmen
It's not just the West ISIS wishes to conquer.
[BBC] Twin attacks on the Iranian parliament and Ayatollah Khomeini's mausoleum in the capital, Tehran, have killed at least 12 people and injured many more.

The assault on the parliament building appears to be over, after hours of intermittent, audible gunfire there. A suicide bomber died at the mausoleum.

Iranian officials say they managed to foil a third attack.

The so-called Islamic State group (IS) has claimed it carried out the attacks, which would be a first in Iran.

IS later posted a video which showed what it claimed was footage from inside the parliament building.

Iranian media reported that four attackers inside the parliament building had been killed by security forces.

It is not clear whether the death toll of 12 includes the attackers, or whether the victims were killed at both incidents or solely at the parliament.

About 40 people were injured in the two attacks, according to emergency services chief Pir Hossein Kolivand.

Gunmen armed with Kalashnikovs entered the parliament on Wednesday morning. Images from the scene showed a major security operation as forces surrounded the building.

Heavy gunfire could be heard.

Iranian authorities denied that there had been a hostage situation inside the parliament building.

Speaker Ali Larijani downplayed the events, describing it as a "minor issue".

Reports said the gunmen had entered parliament via a public entrance, dressed as women.
Reuters adds:
Soon after the assault on parliament, another bomber detonated a suicide vest near the shrine of the Republic's revered founder, Ayatollah Khomeini, a few kilometers south of the city, Zolfaghari said, according to Tasnim.

A second attacker was shot dead, he said.

The Intelligence Ministry said security forces had arrested another "terrorist team" planning a third attack, without giving further details.

Manchester, England and Tripoli, Lybia
Re: Terrorism and National Leaderships

Salmon Abedi, Manchester Arena Suicide Bomber

Salmon Ramadan Abedi, the man believed to be responsible for Manchester Arena bombing, was reportedly known to authorities, according to CBS news. (Dailycaller.com) Born and raised in Manchester in 1994, Abedi, the second youngest of four children, grew up in a Muslim household. His parents, mother Samia Tabbal and father Ramadan Abedi, a security officer, are Libyan-born refugees who fled to the UK to escape Gaddafi. It is thought they returned in 2011 following Gaddafi’s overthrow. Abedi is thought to have an older brother Ismail Abedi, who was born in Westminster in 1993, a younger brother Hashim Abedi, and a sister Jomana, whose Facebook profile suggests she is from Tripoli and lives in Manchester. Abedi is believed to have attended the Manchester Islamic Centre, also known as the Didsbury Mosque. The paper quoted a friend as saying he had returned from a three-week trip to Libya in recent days. (Telegraph.co.uk)

Abd al-Baset Azzouz

A group of Gaddafi dissidents, who were members of the outlawed Libyan Islamic Fighting Group (LIFG), lived within close proximity to Abedi in Whalley Range, Manchester, England. Among them was Abd al-Baset Azzouz, a father-of-four from Manchester, who left Britain to run a terrorist network in Libya overseen by Ayman al-Zawahiri, Osama bin Laden’s successor as leader of al-Qaeda. Azzouz, 48, an expert bomb-maker, was accused of running an al-Qaeda network in eastern Libya. The Telegraph reported in 2014 that Azzouz had 200 to 300 militants under his control and was an expert in bomb-making. LIFG claimed responsibility for a failed assassination attempt against Gaddafi in February 1996, which was in part funded by MI6. (Telegraph.co.uk) The father of four came to the UK from Libya in 1994 and was arrested in a 3am raid at his home in Manchester in May 2006. He was detained for nine and a half months before being released on bail. (Daily Mail) The 48-year-old left Britain in 2009 and allegedly went to Pakstan to join Ayman al-Zawahiri, the leader of al-Qaeda following the death of Osama Bin-Laden. (Dailymail.co.uk)

A leader of the LIFG, Abdelhakim Belhadj, became the commander of the Tripoli Military Council after the rebels took over Tripoli during the 2011 Battle of Tripoli. On March 2011, Abdel-Hakim al-Hasidi, a leading member of the group, admit to the Italian newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore that his fighters had al-Qaeda links. Al-Hasidi was captured in 2002 in Peshwar, Pakistan, later handed over to the US, and then held in Libya before being released in 2008. (Wikipedia.org)

Libyan President Fayez Mustafa al-Sarraj

After Libya's 2014 elections, Libyan government was split between the Islamist-dominated New General National Congress in Tripoli and the internationally recognized legislature of the House of Representatives in Tobruk.

plot to blow up a restaurant in Beirut's southern suburbs during the holy month of Ramadan.

Mashnouq made the confirmation during a meeting at the ministry with British Ambassador to Leb Hugo Shorter during which he offered condolences over the victims of the London terrorist attacks.

"A successful preemptive operation has thwarted a bombing that bully boyz were preparing for Beirut's southern suburbs," Mashnouq told the ambassador, adding that the operation involved "cooperation between General Security and the Intelligence Branch" of the Internal Security Forces.

Al-Akhbar newspaper had reported Tuesday that General Security in coordination with the ISF Intelligence Branch had "dismantled an IS-linked cell that had been plotting to stage a suicide kaboom on a restaurant at iftar time."

Media reports said the cell comprised two Paleostinians and a Yemeni.

"One of them was incarcerated

"A boom jacket that one of the would-be bombers had intended to use was seized" at the al-Rabih Project, the daily added.

According to the detainees' confessions, one of them was supposed to blow himself up in the restaurant while the two others were involved in planning.

"They were receiving their orders from a Raqa-based IS leader through a Ein el-Hellhole intermediary," al-Akhbar said.
Al Ahram adds:

Group operative in Iraq had taught him via the Internet to make an boom belt, NNA reported.

A security source said the plot was still at an early stage.

Africa North
EU to Give 50 Million Euros for African Force in Sahel
[AnNahar] The EU is giving 50 million euros to set up a joint African military force in the Sahel region
... North Africa's answer to the Pak tribal areas...
to fight jihadists, the bloc's foreign affairs chief said Monday.

The funds will help pay for the troops to fight terrorism, cross-border crime and illegal immigration, European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
diplomatic chief Federica Mogherini said in the Mali capital Bamako.

"Stability and development of the Sahel region are crucial not only for Africa but also for Europe," said Mogherini.

"This contribution will arrive very quickly and I hope (it) will set out the right path to other partners of the Sahel G5".

Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Chad and Burkina Faso
...The country in west Africa that they put where Upper Volta used to be. Its capital is Oogadooga, or something like that. Its president is currently Blaise Compaoré, who took office in 1987 and will leave office feet first, one way or the other...
-- dubbed the Sahel G5 -- in March approved plans to build the force of 5,000 troops made up of soldiers, police forces and civilians.

But on Monday Mali's foreign minister announced leaders of the five nations had decided this number would be doubled.

"The heads of state of the Sahel G5 who met in Riyadh just a few weeks ago decided to bring the number from 5,000 men to 10,000 men. This really shows their engagement because this is a vast area," Abdoulaye Diop said.

Mali's north came under attack in 2012 from jihadist groups, linked to al-Qaeda, who hijacked an ethnic Tuareg-led rebel uprising.

Though the Islamists were largely ousted by a French-led military operation in January 2013, jihadist groups continue to mount attacks on civilians and security forces in the arid remote north.

Since 2015, the attacks have spread to the centre and south of the country, often spilling over into neighbouring countries including Niger and Burkina Faso.

The initial decision to create the G5 Sahel force, in the semi-arid region south of the Sahara, was made in November 2015, during a summit in N'Djamena.

Afghanistan
Those using suicide bombers, terrorism for political means will fail: Abdullah
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The Chief Executive of the Government of National Unity of Afghanistan Abdullah Abdullah
... the former foreign minister of the Northern Alliance government, advisor to Masood, and candidate for president against Karzai. Dr. Abdullah was born in Kabul and is half Tadjik and half Pashtun...
said those using jacket wallahs and terrorism for political means will fail.

Speaking at the end of the Kabul Process summit, Abdullah said "Those who use suicide and terrorism as a mean be aware that you will eventually fail."

Abdullah further added "We will seek justice & our resolve for a unified, prosperous and peaceful tomorrow will overcome your dark & evil intentions."

In regards to those involved in the relentless insurgency and deadly attacks, CEO Abdullah said "To those who r manipulated, brain-washed & used as fodder, there is no reward awaiting the murderer of innocent human beings."

In other parts of his speech, Abdullah paid tribute to the recent victims of the global terrorist attacks, including the victims of London terror attack.

He hailed the participants of the summit for supporting and calling for genuine state-to-state cooperation and regional mechanisms to eliminate the menace of terrorism.

"In fight against terrorism, we must use same toolkit, whether we confront lone-wolves or state actors enabling terrorism," he added.

CEO Abdullah also added that the ongoing violence in Afghanistan has external routes, emphasizing that the leadership councils of the terror groups are located outside the country and are using their safe havens for the deadly attacks in Afghanistan.

"Terrorism whose headquarter is located outside our borders, misuses Islam & provokes ethnic politics to recruit terrorists," he added.

He also added "In our fight against terrorism, we need to commit to uprooting sanctuaries and dismantling support infrastructures."

"Most of these elements are external to Afghanistan, and we need to do something about them before it’s too late," he said, adding that "Therefore, our efforts, bilateral or multilateral at core need to be pragmatically centered on dealing with the externalities."

The Grand Turk
Two Afghan ISIS Suspects Arrested in Izmir for Plotting Terrorist Attack
[Asharq al-Aswat] A court in the western Turkish city of Izmir on Monday sentenced two Afghans for being pro-ISIS and for carrying out reconnaissance in favor of the terrorist organization, preparing for a terrorist attack.

Security sources said the anti-terrorist and intelligence forces of the Izmir Security Directorate tossed in the slammer
Don't shoot, coppers! I'm comin' out!
the two Afghan snuffies at the main bus station in the city after suspicion and seized from them documents related to ISIS.

Sources pointed out that investigations have revealed that the detainees belong to the terrorist organization and have links to the areas of festivities in Syria and Iraq and that they came to Izmir to carry out reconnaissance in preparation for the implementation of a terrorist attack in the city.

Following the investigation, the two suspects were transferred to the Public Prosecutor’s Office, which in turn referred them to the court that sentenced them to jail.

Turkish security forces continue its intensified campaigns throughout the country, targeting terrorist organizations, mainly ISIS, in which 4,000 ISIS suspects and snuffies have been arrested since the beginning of 2017.

Due to these operations, ISIS has failed to commit any terrorist attack in The Sick Man of Europe Turkey

following the attack that was carried out by the Uzbek ISIS myrmidon, Abdulkadir Masharipov, who operated under the cover name Abu Mohammed Horasani, on Reina nightclub, killing 39 people and injuring 69 others of different nationalities.

Izmir has witnessed a series of security campaigns that resulted in the arrest of about 100 ISIS sleeper cells, most of them from Uzbekistan and Central Asian countries, in connection with Masharipov, who was arrested on January 16 in Istanbul.

In this context, the Turkish Interior Ministry announced on Monday that a total of 48 outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) holy warriors have been neutralized in 548 operations across Turkey over the past week; a number of ISIS snuffies were also detained in the same period.

Pak army leadership asks Afghanistan to 'look inward' for Kabul attackers
[DAWN] A special Corps Commanders' Conference was held at General Headquarters Tuesday during which the forum expressed its solidarity with the people and security forces of Afghanistan in the backdrop of recent terrorist incidents, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement.,

The statement added that while expressing their support for the Afghan people, the corps commanders also expressed serious reservations to 'the unwarranted accusations and threats' directed at Pakistain in the aftermath of the Kabul bombing.

"The forum also concluded that instead of blaming Pakistain, Afghanistan needs to look inward and identify the real issues," read the ISPR statement.

The statement also said that the forum reiterated the Army's resolve to "defend the motherland against all types of threat."Pix/leghike.jpgPix/leghike.jpgPix/leghike.jpg

Turkey denies Gülen denaturalization may prevent extradition from US
[Hurriyet Daily News] The denaturalization of U.S.-based Islamic preacher Fethullah Gülen would not create an obstacle to his extradition from the U.S. to Turkey, Justice Minister Bekir Bozdağ said June 6.

His remarks came one day after the Interior Ministry issued a notice for 130 people abroad, who are being investigated on terror charges and crimes against the constitutional order, to be denaturalized unless they return and apply to the relevant institutions in Turkey within a three-month period.

According to a government decision officially published on June 5, Ankara will revoke the citizenship of 130 individuals if they do not return to the country and face charges against them. The Interior Ministry’s list also included Gülen, who is accused of masterminding the July 2016 failed coup attempt.

“Turkey’s right to judge [Gülen] is reserved under all circumstances and dismissal of this right is out of question. It [the loss of Gülen’s citizenship] is not an obstacle to his extradition and provisional arrest,” Bozdağ told reporters in parliament.

He also said Turkey would not give up on its quest to extradite Gülen from the U.S. to Turkey.

"The rise in death sentences against Saudi Arabian Shia is alarming and suggests that the authorities are using the death penalty to settle scores and crush dissent under the guise of combating 'terrorism' and maintaining national security," said Human Rights Watch’s Sarah Leah Whitson on Tuesday.

Court documents seen by Amnesia Amnesty International have revealed that a total of 38 defendants were detained and kept in pre-trial detention for over two years before their trial began.

To the stars by atom bomb: The incredible tale of the top secret Orion Project
Imagine it's July 20, 1969 and no one is paying much attention as Neil Armstrong sets foot on the Moon, because all eyes are on the first manned mission to reach Saturn. That may sound absurd, but while NASA was figuring out how to use rockets to reach the Moon, a super secret US government project was developing a gigantic reusable spaceship powered by atom bomb explosions that was designed to carry a crew of 20 to the outer Solar System by 1970 as a first step to the stars. New Atlas looks at the story behind the original Orion Project.

The most powerful rocket in NASA's inventory is the Space Launch System. When completed, it will weigh 2,875 ton fully fueled, will measure 322 ft (98 m) tall and be able to lift 130 tons into low Earth orbit (LEO). It will be the largest booster ever built and is the key to NASA's ambitions to send crews of up to seven astronauts to cislunar orbit and smaller crews to Mars.

Now picture a spacecraft 200 ft (60 m) tall, weighing around 4,000 ton, and capable of lofting 1,600 ton into LEO along with a crew of eight living in quarters more like that of a small submarine than a cramped capsule. Rather than exotic, lightweight aerospace alloys, the ship's hull is made of welded steel a quarter inch thick using standard submarine-building techniques. In addition, the whole spacecraft is completely reusable and its orbital mission is mere muscle flexing before much bigger things.
Continues.

Afghanistan President: More than 150 Killed in Last Week’s Kabul Blast
[Asharq al-Aswat] Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani
...former chancellor of Kabul University, now president of Afghanistan. Before returning to Afghanistan in 2002 he was a scholar of political science and anthropology. He worked at the World Bank working on international development assistance. As Finance Minister of Afghanistan between July 2002 and December 2004, he led Afghanistan's attempted economic recovery until the Karzais stole all the money. ..
announced on Tuesday that the corpse count from last week’s truck bombing in the capital Kabul has reached to over 150.

He said during a peace conference in the city that more than 300 people were maimed in the attack.

The blast occurred when a sewage truck packed with what Ghani called "military-grade" explosives detonated at the entrance to a fortified area of that city that includes foreign embassies and government buildings.

The new corpse count makes it the deadliest attack in the Afghan capital since the ouster of the Taliban

in 2001.

"We were not the only targets, the entire diplomatic community was the target of this attack," Ghani told foreign diplomats gathered for the conference.

Previous official estimates had put the corpse count at about 90, with more than 460 maimed.

All of those killed were Afghans, and Ghani paid specific homage to 13 coppers who stopped the truck as it tried to enter the fortified district and were killed in the blast.

The Grand Turk
Have it your way, PM Yildirim tells Germany on Incirlik air base
[Hurriyet Daily News] Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım has said the German government can “remove its troops however it wants” and the decision has “nothing to do with Turkey,” adding that German soldiers’ probable leaving of the İncirlik air base in southern Turkey would be of little consequence.

“There is no decision we have taken on this. They can have it their own way,” Yıldırım told reporters on June 6 at parliament.

His words followed Germany’s announcement that it will have to remove its troops and surveillance aircrafts based in the İncirlik base after Turkey repeatedly refused to allow German lawmakers to visit the base.

German Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel held talks with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu on June 5 but he could only get Turkish consent for a visit to a base in Konya, where German troops are stationed as part of a NATO mission.

Çavuşoğlu made clear that a visit to İncirlik was impossible given the current conjuncture and Germany’s acceptance of the asylum requests of hundreds of former military personnel and diplomats in the aftermath of the July 2016 coup attempt.

Germany has around 250 troops and six Tornado surveillance aircrafts based at the Incirlik as part of the international coalition fighting the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).

Values of Turkey’s ruling AKP rapidly weakening: Former PM Davutoglu
[Hurriyet Daily News] The values of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) are “rapidly weakening,” former Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu has said, commenting on a file that emerged online in 2016 that called for the resignation of several figures from the AKP.

“We witnessed an incident called the ‘Pelican Briefing.’ Unfortunately, this was done against many figures from the AKP,” Davutoğlu said in an interview on the Kanal 24 TV station.

The “Pelican Brief” was an anonymous Wordpress blog post that was published online on May 1, 2016, written by a man who claimed to be a staunch supporter of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. It alleged that Davutoğlu had “betrayed” Erdoğan by not pushing hard enough for the executive presidential system and also by “collaborating with the West and its Trojan horses [inside Turkey] who want to topple the chief.”

Davutoğlu resigned several days later, leaving his post to Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım.

“The AKP is rapidly weakening its own values. Reputation assassinations are being conducted. What saddened us most was the silence of our friends on the issue,” Davutoğlu said, adding that similar attempts were being directed at the head of the Religious Affairs Directorate (Diyanet), Mehmet Görmez.

Meanwhile, Davutoğlu and former Deputy Prime Minister Bülent Arınç did not attend an iftar fast-breaking meal hosted by Prime Minister Yıldırım in Ankara on June 5.

Yıldırım had sent an invitation to former AKP lawmakers who were on duty between the 22nd and 26th terms for the iftar meal. Some 1,200 guests attended the event and two seats were reserved at Yıldırım’s table for Davutoğlu and Arınç but they were left empty.

Ailing Shafi taken to ICU as health deteriorates
[Dhaka Tribune] Ailing Hefazat-e-Islam chief Shah Ahmed Shafi has been admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of Asgar Ali Hospital at Gandaria in Dhaka as his health condition has deteriorated.

Azizul Haque Islamabadi, central organising secretary of the Islamist platform, told the Dhaka Tribune that Shafi was flown to Dhaka by an air ambulance on Tuesday and admitted to the hospital.

“Shafi Huzur [cleric] has been suffering from various old age complications including high blood pressure and diabetes. He is now taking liquid food through tube. His respiratory problem has also worsened. He is so ill that he can barely speak,” Azizul said.

The 96-year-old was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Chittagong city after he fell sick on May 18.

The controversial nonagenarian leader, who is known as Boro Hujur (the oldest cleric) among his followers, is heavily lambasted by progressive people for his highly prejudicial views on various social issues and also for the radical Islamist platform’s pledge of Islamising Bangladesh.

Shafi is the rector of Al-Jamiatul Ahlia Darul Ulum Moinul Islam, also known as Hathazari Madrasa, and the chairman of Befaqul Madarisil Arabia Bangladesh, the largest Qawmi Madrasa board in the country.

In addition to that, jihadists have lost one of their top field commanders in the non-stop festivities against Syrian Army.

Palestinians say Gaza man shot dead by IDF in southern Strip
[IsraelTimes] A Paleostinian was killed by Israeli fire in the Gazoo Strip on Tuesday, the Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth",-run health ministry said, naming him as Fadi al-Najjar, 25.

"A Paleostinian was mortally maimed by Israeli shots during festivities on the Gazoo border," said health ministry front man Ashraf al-Qudra.

An IDF spokeswoman said that the army was "aware of the reports" that al-Najjar was killed but did not comment further. She said Paleostinians hurled rocks and rolled blazing tires at the border fence, prompting troops to fire warning shots.

"Throughout the day, dozens of Paleostinians attempted to damage the security fence in the Gazoo Strip."

"IDF forces called rioters to halt and, upon continued violence, fired warning shots into the air." the spokesperson said, adding that troops only used live fire to try and disperse the protesters.

They believe that this enzyme could be targeted in order to essentially wipe distressing memories out of the minds of people suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). However, like many things that sound too good to be true, this development is raising red flags left and right.

Scientists have long known that creating new memories and storing old ones involve the creation of proteins in the synapse, where two brain cells meet. For this process to be successful, genes must be expressed in the nucleus of the cell, and this is where a key enzyme can turn genes on or off as new memories are formed. It’s also believed that this enzyme, which is known as ACSS2, plays a role in the memory impairment that is seen in neurodegenerative disorders.

Great White North
Woman screaming 'Allahu Akbar' charged in Toronto store attack
[TorontoSun] A Scarborough woman swore allegiance to ISIS in a Scarborough courtroom where she appeared to face allegations that she swung a golf club at hardware store employees while screaming threats and Islamic chants.

Before Tuesday’s proceedings started, Justice of the Peace Alice Napier asked Rehab Dughmosh, 32, to identify herself in court — but the accused woman didn’t initially answer the question.

“ISIS — I pledge to the leader of the believers — Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi,” blurted the woman through an interpreter.

Dughmosh, who wore a black niqab and a forest-green prison sweat suit, agreed to “stay in jail,” rather than have a bail hearing at College Park courts Tuesday.

Dughmosh was remanded in custody and will appear via video at Scarborough Court of Justice on June 21.

Sources told the Toronto Sun that a woman, wearing an ISIS bandana, allegedly entered Cedarbrae Mall in Scarborough Saturday afternoon and then the Canadian Tire store, where she walked to the paint section.

She allegedly ranted “Allahu Akbar” — God (Allah) is greater — before swinging a golf club at employees — at the same time of bloody terrorist attacks in London, sources said.

The woman was restrained by several employees, after she pulled out a large knife from under her clothing, according to police. The knife was pried from her hand and an employee suffered non-life-threatening injuries, said a police release.

Dughmosh is facing seven charges including two counts of assault with a weapon, assault, two counts of possession of a weapon, threaten death or bodily harm, and carrying a concealed weapon.

Afghanistan
Taliban claims the dead bodies of group’s fighters were desecrated in Faryab
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The Taliban militants group in Afghanistan claims that the security personnel in northern Faryab province have desecrated the dead bodies of the several fighters of the group.
Then perhaps the owners of those bodies should have chosen not to fight there... or at all. One hopes the next contingent of Taliban Lions of Islam will take this information under advisement going forward.
A spokesman for the group Qair Yousuf Ahmadi in reaction to the killing and photography of the group’s fighters said the Afghan security forces personnel have committed the act.

However, the pictures shared on social media apparently shows the local anti-Taliban public uprising forces were involved in the killing, public display, and photography of the dead bodies.
Worse and worse. They hate you, stupid Lion cubs. They really, really hate you enough to do that to you if you fall into their hands.
Qari Ahmadi claims that the dead bodies of the 5 fighters of the group were initially brought for display in a market, were tied to tanks, and their clothes were removed from their bodies.

He also claimed that the incident took place as the group’s leadership ordered the release of at least 62 soldiers captured in southern Kandahar province of Afghanistan.

The local officials have not commented regarding the report so far.

This comes as the Taliban-led insurgency has been rampant across the country since the group announced its spring offensive in the month of April.

Arabia
Flirting with Doha, Tehran Calls to ‘Reject Tension’
[Asharq al-Aswat] Following Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
, UAE, Bahrain and Egypt announced severing ties with Qatar
...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates...
, Iran’s foreign ministry front man, Bahram Ghasemi, called on Gulf states to "renounce tension through dialogue."

Other Tehran officials tried to build bridges with Doha by attacking countries that joined the boycott. Former diplomats have warned their government of the consequences of "investing the Qatar’s card in Gulf tensions."

"The era of cutting diplomatic ties and closing borders ... is not a way to resolve crisis," Hamid Aboutalebi, deputy chief of staff of Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani, tweeted on Monday.

Aboutalebi reiterated his country’s disdain and criticism of the Arab-Islamic-US summit held in Riyadh in May, unleashing a wave of harsh criticism towards each of Saudi Arabia, Egypt, UAE and Bahrain.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on Monday urged Qatar and neighboring Gulf Arab countries that have severed diplomatic ties with it to engage in dialogue to resolve their dispute.

"Neighbors are permanent- geography can’t be changed. Coercion is never the solution. Dialogue is imperative," Zarif tweeted.

According to AFP, foreign ministry front man Ghasemi said in a statement that a solution to the differences between Qatar and its three Gulf neighbors "is only possible through political and peaceful methods and dialogue between the parties".

"Using sanctions in today’s integrated world is inefficient, to be condemned and unacceptable," Ghasemi added of Qatar’s neighbors closing all land, sea and air links with it.

Mohammad-Ali Abtahi, head of the office of former reformist president Mohammad Khatami, attacked Saudi policy, saying severing relations with Qatar was an "Arab earthquake." He called on Iran to abstain from interfering and that rationale prevails with what concerns Iranian involvement in intra-Gulf affairs.

The Grand Turk
Israel's ex-defense chief: Erdogan is 'deliberately Islamicizing' Europe in bid for world domination
[IsraelTimes] In a bid for world domination, Turkish President Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him...
is deliberately flooding Europe with Moslems to "Islamicize" the continent, former defense minister Moshe Ya’alon charged.

"Erdogan is intentionally Islamicizing Europe. People are ignoring it. It’s deliberate Islamization," he told The Times of Israel.

Today, three different streams of Islamic extremism aspire to global hegemony, said Ya’alon, who announced he will compete for the Israel premiership in the next elections. "Iranian Shiite Islam, the Sunni Islamic caliphate and the Moslem Brüderbund, led by Erdogan."

The Turkish president for years allowed jihadists from across the world to come to Syria and Iraq and return to their countries as skilled fighters, the former minister charged. He cited the Greek defense minister as complaining to him last year about The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
promoting illegal immigration to his country from Arab and Moslem states. The Greek official told Ya’alon about a young Moroccan, who on his way to Germany, arrived in Greece on a rubber boat after having flown to Turkey. Apparently, the man had paid only $50 for the ticket from Marrakech to Istanbul.

"That was a subsidized flight. Who subsidized it? They’re being pushed to Europe," Ya’alon said. The authorities in Athens gave Turkish intelligence a list of 1,224 Turks who were being smuggled to Europe, but Ankara denied any involvement, Ya’alon cited the Greek minister as saying.

"Erdogan is acting like a leader of the Moslem Brüderbund and he wants to Islamicize Europe," Ya’alon said. "So when the Europeans demanded he stop this stream [of refugees], what did he ask them? To allow Turks to go to Europe without visas. And what did he tell Turks living in Europe three weeks ago? To increase their birth rates! That’s the Islamization of Europe."

In a rally in March, for instance, Erdogan urged his compatriots in Europe to have "not just three but five children."

In addition, Turkey is funding mosques and Islamic cultural centers all over Europe, especially in the Balkans, the former defense minister said. "He wants hegemony also in Europe."

Ya’alon -- who had a falling out with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu last year, after which he quit the government and the Knesset -- said the new US administration appears to be much closer to Israel’s position than that of Barack Obama
I mean, I do think at a certain point you've made enough money...
"After eight years of great gaps between Israel and US there is potential for change," he said, lauding Netanyahu for standing up to Obama. Ya’alon also praised Trump for considering Iran as "the core of the problem in the Middle East, and not as part of the solution," as the B.O. regime did, he said.

A dairy farmer-turned-general-turned-politician, Ya’alon accuses Netanyahu of corruption and of seeking to undermine Israel’s democracy, but agrees with him wholeheartedly on most, if not all, security and defense matters (though he said he was not happy about the June 2016 reconciliation deal Israel struck with The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....

Sears Department Store Now Peddling 'Free Palestine' T-Shirts
[Jpost] After the story sparked an online petition, Sears responded to The Jerusalem Post personally.

Now shoppers can purchase a souvenir of the conflict along with a new refrigerator.

Times must be tough in the appliances sector - classic American home goods department store Sears has turned to commercializing the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Now with your washer-dryer, customers can pick up a women's "Free Palestine" t-shirt in their choice of six colors.

The t-shirt features a fist in the colors of the Palestinian flag, with the words "Free Palestine, End Israeli Occupation" emblazoned on the front. The product description encourages shoppers to "Make a statement about the Arab-Israeli conflict with this powerful design."
Verified HERE. Bye, Sears.
When questioned, a Sears representative told The Jerusalem Post that they are aware of the t-shirt and have escalated the situation. "We will be removing the items soon. Please allow us 24 hours. Thank you for understanding," he said.

"We do not want our members to be unhappy," he continued. "This item is sold by a third-party seller via the Sears Marketplace. Given the feedback we’ve received, we are currently evaluating the items in question to determine appropriate action. We will fix it and ensure this is not repeated."
The Times of Israel adds:
The clothing is being offered for sale by a Germany company, Spreadshirt, and includes tank tops, T-shirts and hoodies featuring a variety of pro-Palestinian messages. The garments are being sold through Sears Marketplace, which offers a platform for third-party sellers to offer their wares through websites managed by Sears.

Another company, US-based City Shirts from Bloomington, Minnesota, offers “Free Palestine” T-shirts that feature a map of the West Bank and Israel as one territory, a representation that is usually taken to mean a denial of Israel’s right to exist.
Update from The Times of Israel at 4:10 pm EDT: Sears has pulled the items, based on the feedback they received, though they feel unfairly singled out on this issue. WalMart today also discontinued carrying the items. No word from Amazon, though.

Abdul-Ghani al-Assadi, commander of the Iraqi army’s elite Counter-Terrorism Service, said in statements to Assabah al-Jadeed website that CTS are currently awaiting the arrival of Federal Police and Rapdi Response and army troops to join forces and consummate a siege on the IS-held Old City from the north.

"The major challenge forces are facing in Mosul is the existence of a large number of civilians in narrow areas with small, interconnected houses," Assadi said.

Last week, a spokesperson of the U.S.-led coalition fighting IS said the group was controlling less than 10 square kilometers of territories in western Mosul.

district where troops struggle to invade on their way to the strategic Old City.

Speaking to Shafaaq News website, Cap. Abdul-Wadoud al-Anbari said the Interior Ministry’s Rapid Response teams and the army’s 9th division killed 21 holy warriors, including five snipers, in al-Shefa district, one of the last three districts surrounding the IS-held Old City area.

Since late April, Iraqi forces began a push towards the medieval Old City from the northwest, retaking several surrounding districts. At present, only three neighborhoods around the Old City remain under IS control: Zanjili, al-Sihha and al-Shefa.

The area’s impassable alleyways have made it hard for army and police vehicles to go through, and the existence of at least 200.000 civilians under IS captivity has also slowed down the pace of operations, according to Iraqi generals.

Nunes on Unmasking Subpoenas: 'Oh, This Is Only the Beginning'
In a recent broadcast of the John Batchelor Show, Chairman Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) of the House Select Intelligence Committee confirmed that all three subpoenas his committee sent to senior Obama administration officials seek details about the unmaskings of American citizens. He also said that it was "very unusual" for an ambassador like Samantha Power to unmask names of American citizens "under any circumstances." The chairman made clear that he and his colleagues would not be requesting the information if they didn’t have "probable cause that there was an abuse of power" and that his investigation into possible illegalities was just beginning.

"Oh, this is only the beginning," Nunes said. "There are many more officials that we have concerns about abusing the intelligence programs."

Nunes joined Batchelor and Mary Kissel of The Wall Street Journal editorial board last Thursday to discuss the subpoenas sent to former CIA director John Brennan, former national security adviser Susan Rice, and former UN ambassador Samantha Power.

Via John Batchelor at The Daily Beast:

"The subpoenas," Nunes explained, "actually went to the NSA, the CIA, and the FBI, requesting specifically, of those three individuals that were named, the unmaskings they have done, that they did, from the time period of 2016, the entire year, leading up to Jan. 20 of this year."
Quickly Nunes focused on the politics of the unmaskings.

"I can’t get into why we chose those individuals, but clearly this is just further escalation in the concern we have of the unmaskings of Americans by the senior leaders of the Obama administration. Americans that didn’t know about it, and, of course, potentially Trump transition officials."

Nunes clarified his concerns.

"Every American is masked. The intelligence agencies are bound by law to mask all American citizens that get picked up in foreign collection. What has to happen, if you want to find out who the American is--there’s a process and procedure in place for that. It’s actually very uncommon in most cases, and seldom happens. But the concern I have had, that I expressed publicly, quite publicly, actually, a couple months ago, was that it became excessive. That Obama administration officials were unmasking people in the Trump transition, and it made me quite uncomfortable."

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
US-backed fighters thrust into ISIL bastion Raqqa
[Hurriyet Daily News] U.S.-backed forces launched a major move to take Raqqa, the headquarters of the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. of Iraq and the Levant (ISIS) in Syria on June 6, with Ankara warning that it will retaliate immediately if the military operation poses a threat against The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
The attack on the northern city, which was seized by the jihadists in early 2014, has been seven months in the making and is backed by air support, military advisers and weapons deliveries from the U.S.-led coalition.

After months sealing off access routes to the city from the east, north and west, the U.S.-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) said it entered city limits for the first time on June 6.

"Our forces entered the city of Raqqa from the eastern district of al-Meshleb," SDF commander Rojda Felat told Agence La Belle France-Presse, adding that festivities were also raging on the city’s northern outskirts.

"They are fighting street battles inside Raqqa now, and we have experience in urban warfare," she said.

The People’s Protection Units (YPG), seen as a terrorist organization by Ankara for its links to the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), constitutes the backbone of the U.S.-backed SDF.

Ankara has repeatedly said it would like to be a part of the Raqqa operation if the YPG is discarded but the U.S. has stuck with the Kurdish group in the field.

"We will not let any situation emerge that would pose risks for our country," Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim said on June 6, addressing his party deputies in parliament.

"If we come across any situation in Raqqa or any spot in the region that threaten our security, we will give the necessary response," he said.

The advance of the SDF was backed by heavy air strikes by the U.S.-led coalition, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights stated.

The coalition, which also includes Turkey, began its air campaign against ISIS in Iraq in August 2014, expanding its operations to Syria the following month.

Defeating ISIS in Raqqa would "deliver a decisive blow to the idea of ISIS as a physical caliphate," coalition commander Lieutenant General Steve Townsend said.

Airstrikes on Islamic State-held Syrian city kill 12

group, have killed at least 12 people.

State news agency SANA reported on Tuesday that the Arclight airstrikes by the US-led coalition killed 12, including women and kiddies. It says the families were fleeing the city in boats across the Euphrates River ahead of an expected all-out attack by the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces.

The Britannia-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said 21 people were killed in the Monday night Arclight airstrikes. It said they were likely carried out by the US-led coalition.

The Arclight airstrikes have intensified in recent weeks as SDF fighters have reached the outskirts of the city.

Britain
Police face scrutiny as third London attacker named
[Al Jazeera] British police on Tuesday named the third London Bridge attacker as an Italian national of Moroccan descent, and Italian officials said they had passed on their concerns about him to British intelligence officials last year.

UK police said that 22-year-old Youssef Zaghba lived in east London and had not been considered to be a "person of interest" to either police or the intelligence services - meaning they had no reason to think he was violent or planning an attack.

The other two attackers were named on Monday as Khuram Shazad Butt and Rachid Redouane.

The three, who were wearing fake boom jackets, were rubbed out late on Saturday after ramming a van into pedestrians on London Bridge and then slashing and stabbing people in nearby Borough Market.

Seven people were killed during the attack and dozens more were maimed.

A Canadian and a Frenchie were among the dead in Saturday's attack and citizens of other nations were among the 48 injured, including Australia, Bulgaria, La Belle France, Greece and New Zealand. Eighteen are still at death's door in hospital, according to health authorities.

The third attacker, Youssef Zaghba, was born in Fez in 1995 to a Moroccan father and an Italian mother, reported Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera.

Zaghba was stopped at Bologna's airport in March 2016 as he tried to make his way to Syria via The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
An Italian interior ministry official told the News Agency that Dare Not be Named that British and Moroccan intelligence and law-enforcement authorities were informed that Zaghba had been flagged as someone who was a risk - but no other details were released.

The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not allowed to discuss details of the case.

Italian news reports said authorities sequestered Zaghba's mobile phone and passport when he was stopped at the airport, but that he successfully got them back after a court determined there wasn't enough evidence to charge him with any terrorism-related crime.

Italia has expelled more than 40 people in the past two years who were suspected of radicalisation activities but for whom there was insufficient evidence to bring formal charges. Zaghba's Italian citizenship prevented such an expulsion, Italian daily La Repubblica said.

Zaghba was reportedly working in a London restaurant around the time of the attack and had not been seen in Italia since 2016.

The other attackers
Zaghba's two accomplices in the attack were identified by police on Monday.

London's Metropolitan Police said one attacker was Khuram Shazad Butt, aged 27. Butt was previously known to police and the domestic spy agency MI5, and was a British citizen who had been born in Pakistain, the police said.

"However,
some men learn by reading. A few learn by observation. The rest have to pee on the electric fence for themselves...
there was no intelligence to suggest that this attack was being planned and the investigation had been prioritised accordingly," police said on Monday, without providing details on why Butt had come to the attention of law enforcement.

Butt had notably featured in a Channel 4 TV documentary entitled The Jihadis Next Door and, according to the British media, numerous people alarmed by his views had gone to the authorities.

The second attacker was named as Rachid Redouane, aged 30, who also went by the identity Rachid Elkhdar and was not known to police. Redouane had claimed to be Moroccan and Libyan.

Police on Tuesday carried out a new search in an east London suburb near the home of two of the London Bridge attackers. The search in Ilford, just north of Barking, is seeking to determine whether the group had accomplices.

Police on Tuesday also tossed in the clink
Youse'll never take me alive coppers!... [BANG!]... Ow!... I quit!
a 27-year-old man in Barking on suspicion of violating the Terrorism Act and a residence there was being searched.

London police have said 12 other people from Barking held since the attack have been freed.

London attacker who lived in Ireland was refused asylum in Britain

[Reuters] One of the three attackers that killed seven people in London on Saturday was refused asylum in Britain but was able to remain there through a European Union residence card granted in Ireland, Irish state broadcaster RTE reported on Tuesday.

British police on Monday named Rachid Redouane, a 30-year-old from Barking in east London who claimed to be Moroccan and Libyan, as one of the three attackers shot dead during the knife and van attack.

Irish media reported that an Irish identification card was found on Redouane's body, and Prime Minister Enda Kenny confirmed that one of the attackers lived in Ireland for a time but did not attract the attention of law-enforcement.

RTE said, without citing sources, that Redouane was refused asylum in Britain but was granted a '4 EU FAM' residence card after getting married in Ireland in 2012, which allowed him to apply for a permit to remain in Britain when he left Ireland.

A '4 EU FAM' card grants a non-European Economic Area family member permission to stay in the EU.

Ireland has a common travel area with Britain that allows the freedom of movement of people within the two islands as well as the rights to reside, work and access public services. It hopes to maintain the bilateral system, which predates its EU membership, after Britain leaves the bloc.

Britain's Home Office and Irish police declined to comment on the report.

London Bridge terrorist was arrested after violent attack on Islamic scholar - but let off with a caution

From the BBC liveblog:
  • NHS England says 15 people remain in a critical condition in hospital

  • A further arrest has been made in the Irish Republic - a man in his 30s - related to Redouane. Another man also arrested in the Irish Republic earlier on Tuesday over ID documents in Redouane's name has been released without charge

  • Theresa May has said she will change human rights laws if they "get in the way" of tackling suspected terrorists
From the Telegraph liveblog:
  • ISI raid Khuram Butt's former family home in the village of Mujahidabadand and a restaurant owned by Khuram Butt's uncle in the city of Jhelum, 60 miles south east of Islamabad "as a precaution."

  • Butt, also known as Abu Zaitun, was a key contact of London bomber Mohammed Siddique Khan and hate preacher Anjem Choudary.

Krauthammer: Europe suffers from assimilation and integration failure 30 years ago (Fox Video)
[TheRightScoop] Krauthammer says that the reason they [Europe] have so many terror attacks is that Europeans don’t allow Muslims to integrate into their society the way we do. Tucker Carlson doesn’t see it that way ‐ he thinks we’re just 30 years separated from European terror attacks. Both views have some merit, but I think Krauthammer is arguing from a basis of reason applied to observation, while Carlson is going by what his populist ideology can sell to his gullible audience.

#2  Assimilation and integration works just fine IF THE IMMIGRANTS WANT IT TO!!!!!

The basis for the melting pot in which my grandparents were stewed was that they knew that they were leaving a bad situation and moving to a good situation and that it was up to them to make it work.

Now they come here and feel entitled to other people's hard earned rewards. No assimilation or integration required.

#3  Alan C: My family were Irish immigrants, my mother's family Polish. My wife's family immigrated from Europe after going through the Holocaust in Europe. I have often hear my mother-in-law say she loves this country. They all had to learn English, have a sponsor, and have the promise of a job. Immigration and assimilation did work with the culture from which they came--not so much with the current Islamic culture.

#4  Charles Krauthammer comes awfully close to blaming the victim.

No Mr Anonymous blogger he does not. When European governments first began to embrace Multiculturalism critics warned of the predictable social downsides. And BTW, those admonitions were not exclusive to Muslim populations. As the enclaves began to multiply and those premonitions began to materialize any criticism was met fiercely with false allegations of bigotry. And given the trajectory resulting from the decades of Socialist Justice in the US Carlson's warning may develop even sooner than he predicted.

Chitral man dies after alleged assault by police official
[DAWN] An unidentified man was killed outside a mosque in Chitral allegedly as a result of being hit by a police officer.

According to reports, the man had been asked for identification by a local police officer upon entering the mosque in question; however, the victim ignored the officer as he was getting late for prayers.

Upon his return from the mosque, an altercation took place between the victim and the officer over identification documents.

The officer then allegedly struck the man on his face, which caused the victim's nose to bleed. He was rushed to the hospital, but was declared dead on arrival.

Police sources claim that the victim did not belong to the area and had been buried in the local graveyard since no one claimed the dear departed’s body.

They claimed that they were investigating the matter, but a first information report had not been registered by the time this report was filed.

Notre Dame Hammer Attacker Shot after Attacking Police
[Asharq al-Aswat] French police shot and maimed a man who attacked officers with a hammer outside the Notre Dame cathedral on Tuesday and the Gay Paree prosecutor’s office swiftly launched a counter-terrorism investigation.

The perpetrator has yelled "This is for Syria" before bashing a police officer in the head outside the cathedral, a top official revealed, as a terror investigation was under way.

Armed police cordoned off the site and the cathedral in central Gay Paree that is visited by millions of tourists every year was locked down during the incident. It comes just three days after Death Eater bandidos turbans killed seven people in London in a knife and van attack.

"Situation under control, one policeman injured, the assailant was neutralized and taken to hospital," Gay Paree police said on Twitter.

Two police sources said the officers shot the assailant in the thorax after he had threatened them with a hammer and refused to stop. One policeman was hurt, according to one source.
It's getting to be like Israel: when single attackers rush forward they are dispatched quickly, then life goes on while the police hunt down their connections.
Karine Dalle, a spokeswoman for the Gay Paree diocese, told BFM TV 900 people were still inside the cathedral as police secured the area.

La Belle France is under a state of emergency after a wave of murderous Moslem attacks since early 2015 that have killed more than 230 people across the country.
The Daily Mail adds:
An Algerian student claiming to be an ISIS soldier shouted 'this is for Syria' as he attacked a police officer outside Gay Paree's Notre Dame Cathedral on Tuesday afternoon.

The man, whose name has not been released but is said to be a mature student in his 40s, was shot and injured by police after he used a hammer to attack an officer patrolling with two other coppers at 4.30pm local time.

One of the officers responded with two gunshots, which injured the assailant, who was carrying kitchen knives, a hammer and other unsophisticated weapons.

Deadly explosion strikes Afghanistan's Herat
[Al Jazeera] At least 10 people were killed and several maimed in an kaboom near police offices and a mosque in Afghanistan's Herat
...a venerable old Persian-speaking city in western Afghanistan, populated mostly by Tadjiks, which is why it's not as blood-soaked as areas controlled by Pashtuns...
province, police officials told Al Jazeera.

Abdul Ahid Wali Zada, police spokesperson, said the bomb was planted in a rickshaw that detonated near the Jama Masjid, a large mosque dating from the 12th century in Herat city on Tuesday.

"The corpse count coud rise," he said.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility. Zabihullah Mujahid, a front man for the Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
, told Al Jazeera that the group was not involved in the attack.

Images posted to social media showed plumes of black smoke rising above a mosque complex.

Taliban claims the group is not behind Herat city bombing that left 7 dead

[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The Talibs group in Afghanistan claims that the group is not behind the bombing in Herat
...a venerable old Persian-speaking city in western Afghanistan, populated mostly by Tadjiks, which is why it's not as blood-soaked as areas controlled by Pashtuns...
city that left at least seven people dead.

The group’s front man Qari Yousuf Ahmadi in a statement said certain circles within the ’enemies’ are attempting to defame the group by carrying out such attacks.

He did not elaborate further regarding his claims about the ’circles’ and ’enemies’ involved in the attack.

The Ministry of Interior acting front man Najib Danish confirmed that the incident took place after explosives planted in a cycle of violence went off in Jame mosque.

Najib further added that 7 people were killed in the kaboom and at least 16 others were maimed.

No individual or group including the Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
snuffies has so far grabbed credit behind the incident.

This comes as the Taliban-led insurgency has been rampant since the group announced its spring offensive late in April.

Taliban’s statements for rejecting role in major attacks mainly claiming civilian lives comes as the group is accused of incurring the most civilian casualties in the country.

The United Nations
...an organization conceived in the belief that we're just one big happy world, with the sort of results you'd expect from such nonsense...
Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UANAMA) released its latest civilian casualties report in the month of April, covering a period of three months since the start of 2017.

According to the report, the Anti-Government Elements caused 62 per cent of civilian casualties ‐ 1,353 civilian casualties (447 dead and 906 injured), reflecting a five per cent increase compared to the same period in 2016.

The UN mission also added it recorded a 12 per cent increase in civilian casualties caused by pressure-plate improvised bombs ‐ 218 civilian casualties (86 dead and 132 injured).

Suspected US jets bomb Al shabaab convoy in Somalia
[SHABELLENEWS] Suspected US fighter jets have launched an overnight Arclight airstrike in Southern Somalia, targeting a convoy of vehicles reportedly carrying senior Al shabaab commanders.

The warplanes fired several missiles at the convoy with middle-level commanders, while travelling near N-50 area in lower Shabelle region, according to the local residents.

There were no immediate confirmation off the casualties on Al shabaab leaders, as a result of the Ariel bombardment, which was the latest in series of Arclight airstrikes in Somalia by US military.

Last week, foreign forces believed to be US marines carried out a raid on a training camp near Jilib district in Middle Jubba region.

The jets dropped leaflets in the Al shabaab-held towns of Jilib and Jamame, calling fighters to defect from the group, and take an advantage of President’s two-month amnesty offer.

Syrian army crosses into Raqqa province
[AlAhram] The Syrian army crossed into Raqqa province on Tuesday, capturing two villages from Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
Group, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said, an advance coinciding with the start of a U.S.-backed assault on Raqqa city.

The Russian-backed Syrian army and allied militias advanced into Raqqa province from neighbouring Aleppo province where they have seized swathes of territory from Islamic State Group this year.

The villages seized - Khirbet Mohsen and Khirbet al-Saba - are about 80 km (50 miles) from Raqqa city and are located 7 km south of the main road linking Raqqa and Aleppo.

The U.S.-backed campaign to capture Raqqa is being fought by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), an alliance that includes the Kurdish YPG militia.

In May, the Syrian government described the Kurdish war with Islamic State Group as "legitimate" and said the military priorities for Damascus were Islamic State Group-held Deir al-Zor and the Badia region at the border with Jordan and Iraq. That suggests it does not intend to challenge the U.S.-backed campaign at Raqqa city.

SpaceX will launch next X-37 Air Force Mission!

The Air Force has had it's sights set on a reusable launch vehicle for some time, letting study contracts over the years for winged fly-back boosters, RTLS boosters, etc. SpaceX has now stepped into the gap with such a launcher so I imagine the Space Command wing is salivating over the possibilities. It wouldn't surprise me to see the Air Force eventually do a block buy of F9's to be used exclusively for their needs; flown, recovered, refurbished and stored near both CCAFS and Vandenberg. My time in the Air Force taught me that they mean exactly what they say, so when they say "rapid response" they may very well be -reaching- for the capability to grab a flight-proven booster out of the barn on really short notice, mount and integrate whatever payload they want up there, fuel up and launch. Turn-around time measured in days (eventually in hours), not weeks. Remember that Elon has stated over and over again that his turn-around time goals are airline-style; fuel, launch, recover, refuel, relaunch, re-recover, do it again. Nowhere near that yet but it would not surprise me in the least if that is a shared goal with the Air Force.
