Law professor: It's now clear that Loretta Lynch's intrusion into the Clinton email investigation 'probably changed history'
[Business Insider] As fired FBI Director James Comey testified Thursday mostly on his conversations and communications with President Donald Trump, he revealed one bit of major news unrelated to the growing investigations involving the White House.

And a law professor says that looking back, the incident could have changed the course of last year's presidential election.

Comey said during testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee that Loretta Lynch, the attorney general during the FBI's investigation into Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton's private email server, had asked him to refer to the inquiry as a "matter" instead of an "investigation."

Comey recalled the request giving him "a queasy feeling." It also echoed language the Clinton campaign itself was using.

"That was one of the bricks in the load that led me to conclude I have to step away from the department if we're to close this case credibly," Comey said.

After hearing Comey's Thursday remarks, Jed Shugerman, a law professor at Fordham University, said he could no longer "stand by my earlier criticism that the GOP was asking about Clinton email to distract from the Trump questions."

"They may have intended to change the subject, but they found a real subject to investigate further," he added in an email to Business Insider.

The professor called the apparent pressuring of Comey to use "matter" instead of "investigation" a "huge mistake" and "a partisan intrusion" on Lynch's part.

It "probably changed history by making Comey more skeptical about her and the Clintons' role," he said. "I inferred that it had an effect on Comey that may have changed how he handled the investigation later. She will face very tough questions. And it validates the follow-up questions on the Clinton campaign on their handling the email."

"We will hear a lot about this," he added. "It does not rise to obstruction, because it was wording/semantic, not the substance of investigation, but Comey was right to be troubled. Lynch and Bill Clinton should be called to testify and explain their behavior. What's obstruction for the goose is obstruction for the gander."

All of which assumes Comey was serious about the Clinton investigation from the beginning, which I doubt. A 'serious' Comey and a 'serious' FBI would have taken notes of their interviews and discussions with Clinton. No notes, no recorded transcripts. How very strange for such prolific note taker.

Some Simple Questions for James Comey
[American Thinker] In the wake of the James Comey spectacle in Congress Friday, it's pretty reasonable to see the double standards, the unasked questions, the bias toward one side of the political spectrum. So what would an intelligent citizen have to ask the former FBI director? How about this:
You said you wrote a memo on your meeting with Trump because you were afraid he would lie. So, why didn't you have your agents record the meeting with Hillary Clinton since she is a known liar? Was it because it was a "matter" and not a real investigation? Isn't it extremely odd that if it was an actual serious investigation that you din't have Hillary testify under oath?
Or this:
Isn't it true that when President Obama said he didn't see anything that jeopardized the nation's security in Hillary Clinton's illegal, unsecured private server that that was a message to the FBI and Justice Department not to charge her? Did you get queasy when Obama said that?
Or this:
Hadn't you essentially decided not to charge Hillary no matter what she did, since you essentially exonerated her prior to interviewing her? Had someone from Justice or the White House essentially sent the message to not to charge Hillary?
And let's not forget this:
You have said that the Justice Department and FBI have to be apolitical. Doesn't your and Loretta Lynch's pecial treatment of Hillary Clinton show how much politics actually influenced the decision not to charge her, despite her obvious guilt?
Can you give any other examples where a government official trafficked classified documents for years and was not charged?

Adam West, 1960s TeeVee's ‘Batman' passes away at 88
[Wash Times] Adam West, the actor who portrayed Batman and the superhero’s alter ego, Bruce Wayne, on television and movie screens in the 1960s, passed away Friday following a short battle with leukemia, a family spokesperson said. He was 88.

West died peacefully Friday night in Los Angeles surrounded by his family, a representative told The Hollywood Reporter early Saturday.

"A true American icon and beloved father and husband, he will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and millions of fans around the world," the spokesperson said.

"Our dad always saw himself as The Bright Knight, and aspired to make a positive impact on his fans’ lives. He was and always will be our hero," West’s family said in a statement.

Bush AG Michael Mukasey : Lynch ‘Betrayal' Made DOJ ‘An Arm Of The Clinton Campaign'
[Daily Caller] The former attorney general under George W. Bush said Loretta Lynch made the Department of Justice "an arm of the Clinton campaign" by instructing then-FBI Director James Comey to mislead the public about the Clinton email investigation.
"What makes it egregious is the fact -- and I think it’s obvious that it is a fact -- that the attorney general of the United States was adjusting the way the department talked about its business so as to coincide with the way the Clinton campaign talked about that business,"
Michael Mukasey said in an interview with Newsmax on Friday.
"In other words, it made the Department of Justice essentially an arm of the Clinton campaign," added Mukasey, who served as the attorney general from 2007 until 2009. "That is a betrayal of the department and of its independence to illustrate that clearly that the attorney general was essentially in the tank for Secretary Clinton."
Comey testified on Thursday that Lynch successfully pressured him into using the Clinton campaign’s spin on the investigation of Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server as secretary of state.

Britain
Britain's Election Disaster
h/t Instapundit
[CityJournal] Theresa May has proved an apt pupil of the David Cameron school of political incompetence. Lacking principle, she is not even good at being unprincipled: a Machiavellian, it turns out, minus the cunning.

It did not help that she had the charisma of a carrot and the sparkle of a spade.
Gotta give it to them perfidious Albions, they really know how to insult
...Technically, she won the election, in the sense that she received more votes than anyone else, but few voted for her with enthusiasm rather than from fear of the alternative. Her disastrous campaign included repeated genuflections in the direction of social democracy. Even after her defeat, moral if not quite literal, she burbled about a society in which no one was left behind--never mind that it would entail a society in which no one would be out in front, that is to say, a society resting in the stagnant pool of its own mediocrity.

Unfortunately, egalitarianism is a little like Islam in that, just as a moderate Muslim can always be outflanked by someone more Islamic than he, so an egalitarian can usually be outflanked by someone more egalitarian than he: and in the contest between the Conservatives and the Labour Party, no one will ever believe that the Conservatives are more devoted to equality of outcome than the Labour Party. May therefore chose her battleground with a perfect eye for defeat.

Next time the Conservatives should remember to be Conservative and elect a Conservative to lead them.

Comey may have just expanded the Hildebeest's campaign 'blame' list
[Vanity Fair of all places] Former F.B.I. director James Comey confirmed during his testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee on Thursday that it was Bill Clinton’s private meeting with former attorney general Loretta Lynch on the tarmac of a Phoenix airport last summer that ultimately led him to speak publicly about the bureau’s probe of Hillary Clinton’s e-mail server.

Many believe the letter Comey wrote about Clinton’s e-mail servers cost her the election. Lynch said at the time that the two spent the 45-minute, unplanned meeting talking about golf, the recent Brexit vote, and their grandchildren, while some observers were upset about the optics of such a meeting at the time. The meeting convinced him to go public in an "ultimately conclusive way," Comey said during Thursday’s highly anticipated testimony.

Comey said on Thursday that he grew increasingly concerned when Lynch directed him to refer to the Clinton probe as a "matter," not an "investigation"--a linguistic parallel to how the Clinton campaign was describing what was, indeed, a criminal investigation. Comey said Lynch’s insistence made him "queasy," because it seemed the Justice Department was trying to align its public comments with those of the Clinton campaign.

#2  What if... as someone has suggested in this forum, the entire Sky Harbor event was classic Kabuki theater ?

"Of all the gin joints in all the towns in all the world, she walks into mine."

The 'chance' coming together at Sky Harbor in broad daylight, of such notables for the purpose of creating a 'hard place' from which Lynch must be removed. An indirect recusal faux protestation, which effectively put an end to the 'matter.'

The 'leaking' to a targeted county, of a PM (personal meeting) or other activity, between an intelligence agent and a recruited source, for the purpose of project or source termination by the targeted country; classic clandestine tradecraft.

And the knight in shining armor, our old friend and trusted confidant, FBI Director James Comey. What could possibly go wrong ?

#4  Cui bono?

Hillary Clinton gained a considerable amount. The investigation (matter) was terminated. If nothing else, she gained time to push the issues of criminality off and potentially become president of the Untied States. Winning the election would have been the ultimate 'get out of jail free card.' Time, lost evidence, and foggy memories are tools of the swamp.

Marawi siege: US special forces aiding Philippine army
[BBC] US special forces are helping the Philippine military retake the southern city of Marawi from IS-linked militants, the Philippine army says.

The forces are providing technical help and are not fighting, it said.

President Rodrigo Duterte had earlier threatened to throw out US troops amid strained relations since taking office.
Militants have been under siege since rampaging through the southern city on 23 May. The latest fighting has claimed the lives of 13 Philippine marines.

Hundreds of militants, who have been flying the black flag of so-called Islamic State and are led by the self-styled IS emir of the southern Philippines, Isnilon Hapilon, and the Maute brothers Omar and Abdullah, are still holed up in the city.
The latest casualties bring the number of Philippine troops killed in the fighting to 58.

At least 138 militants and 20 civilians have also been killed, the government says.

Ranger "Tanto" Paronto raises some questions
[American Thinker] In a recently published book, The Ranger Way, Kris "Tanto" Paronto provides readers with extensive insight into what was going through his mind as he fought for his life and the lives of those around him on September 11th, 2012, and also breaks down those experiences into the lessons learned.

Paronto’s résumé is very impressive. A former Army Ranger from 2nd Battalion 75th Ranger Regiment and a private security contractor he has been deployed throughout South America, Central America, the Middle East, and North Africa. Many might know him as a member of the CIA Annex Security Team that responded to the terrorist attack in Benghazi. Previously, he worked with the U.S. Government's Global Response Staff, the U.S. State Department High Threat Protection Program, and the Blackwater Security Consulting firm in high-threat environments around the world.

He looks at the intelligence leaks today, where the British have said they will no longer share intelligence information with the U.S. and the Israelis blames the American media for outing them as a source, and wonders why nothing was ever linked about Benghazi, about which questions still remain: what did President Obama and Hillary Clinton know and when, who gave the stand-down order, and why weren’t the readily available military units deployed? Kris told American Thinker, "I really thought someone within the Agency would step up and tell the truth. This is when I saw the dirty side of government, seeing a cover-up of lies that included President Obama, Hillary Clinton, Patrick Kennedy, and Charlene Lamb. They along with the CIA acting director, Mike Morell, were entrenched within the political machine. It was disheartening and very disappointing. But to emphasize, it was not the guys and gals on the ground."

The book describes an important tool to thrive, take responsibility. This mentality should be relatable for any person, unless your name is Hillary Clinton. Kris describes her as "arrogant. I want to be a thorn in her side. She sees herself as above the law. Yet, she leaked classified information, used open servers, and left people to die in Benghazi. She can rationalize away anything and puts herself before anyone else. I believe 90% of the national security people truly believe she would have made a terrible president."

Kris also blames the national media. A quote from the book emphasizes how they spin the facts to favor the Obama administration, "If you want to take CNN’s word over a Marine’s, go right ahead. I’ll take the Marine’s word one hundred percent of the time." This was in response to a question asked about the stand-down order given by "Bob," the CIA Benghazi Chief.

Another life lesson: do not be afraid to ask a question. Kris believes good leaders "would be happy with questions. ’Bob’ should have realized he was out of his element and asked questions of us, the experts. He pretended he knew what he was doing and it cost lives. I truly believe if we were sent out almost initially those at the compound would still be alive, instead of telling us we could not leave."

At no time did he ever think of giving up and not speaking out. This is why he continues to want to reform a broken system. "It needs to be purged. The intelligence community should be about fighting terrorism, not leaking to support some agenda. They utilize the left-wing media outlets by putting out fake news. They leak stuff illegally to news agencies because they dislike the current administration. They are too heavily involved in politics instead of just doing their job."

He realizes he is fighting a new battle. An important principle: have a battle strategy that strives to reach a goal by defining the mission’s importance. "We have a new combat area where we must speak out against politicians, TV, and news media personalities. Those of us in Benghazi were part of the Special Ops community and needed to be creative thinkers. We went through a process of anger, where we watched everything spin out of control, to realizing we must develop a strategy to fix and counter the false narrative. We are done just sitting on the sidelines. Military personnel have integrity, honor, and are patriotic. Maybe the national security agencies should recruit from the military because our love for country is stronger than our political views."

An important lesson Kris wants to convey is, "Commit to owning errors when you make them, learning from your mistakes, and acting with integrity. These upper-echelon national security officials cannot admit when they are wrong. Maybe, they are taught it in a class on the Farm. They should have the strength to say a mistake was made here. For example, I do not think it was a coincidence that David Petraeus stepped down as CIA Director after an IT complaint was filed. People should know that on September 12th in Tripoli all the contractors were flown out to Germany leaving only the CIA staffers. No one wanted us talking to him. He was given the wrong story, which is when one CIA staffer had the courage to file the IT report. I now know it was all corruption."

In reading this book, Americans will learn that Kris is definitely not a politically correct kind of guy. He persevered through the Benghazi tragedy and wants others to learn how they can succeed through life. Having integrity, courage, and faith in G-d has allowed him to overcome life’s hardships and he hopes his own life lessons can be helpful to others.

Immigrants with old deportation orders arrested at check-ins across US
[Press Democrat] LOS ANGELES -- For years, immigrants facing deportation have been allowed to stay in the U.S. provided they show up for regular check-ins with federal deportation agents and stay out of trouble. After a brief meeting, they're usually told to return months later to check in again.

Now, in cases spanning from Michigan to California, some of these immigrants are being told their time here is up.

Immigrants who already have deportation orders and were allowed to stay in the country under the prior administration have become a target under President Donald Trump's new immigration policies, with some getting arrested on the spot during check-ins with officers. Such arrests have dismayed family members and sent chills through immigrant communities.

In other instances, immigrants have been fitted with ankle-monitoring bracelets. Others have been released much like they were during President Barack Obama's administration in what immigration attorneys say appears to be a random series of decisions based more on detention space than public safety.

China-Japan-Koreas
North Korea Dreams of Turning Out the Lights
[WSJ] By Henry F. Cooper June 8, 2017 6:29 p.m. ET

Conventional wisdom holds that it will be years before North Korea can credibly threaten the United States with a nuclear attack. Kim Jong Un’s scientists are still testing only low-yield nuclear weapons, the thinking goes, and have yet to place them on ballistic missiles capable of reaching America’s West Coast.

While its technological shortcomings have been well documented, North Korea’s desire to provoke a nuclear conflict with the U.S. should not be minimized or ignored. Pyongyang is surely close to getting it right.

For South Korea the danger is more immediate. According to physicist David Albright, the founder and president of the Institute for Science and International Security, the North Koreans have between 13 and 30 nuclear weapons and can build as many as five more every year. If Mr. Kim were to detonate one of these bombs in the atmosphere 40 miles above Seoul, it could inflict catastrophic damage on South Korea’s electric power grid, leading to a prolonged blackout that could have deadly consequences.

The United States has 28,500 soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines in South Korea stationed below the 38th parallel--and more at sea nearby. An electromagnetic pulse attack on South Korea could play havoc with America’s ability to mount an effective response to North Korean aggression. One hopes the troops manning the two already-deployed batteries of the Thaad ballistic-missile defense system are prepared for such a scenario (in a concession to China, the newly elected South Korean government suspended this week the deployment of four additional launchers).

In 2001 Congress established a commission to study the danger of an electromagnetic pulse generated by the detonation of a high-altitude nuclear weapon. It concluded that while there would be no blast effects on the ground, critical electricity-dependent infrastructure could be rendered inoperable. The commission’s chairman, William R. Graham, has noted that several Russian generals told the commissioners in 2004 that the designs for a "super EMP nuclear weapon" had been transferred to North Korea.

Pyongyang, the Russian generals reported, was probably only a few years away from developing super EMP capability. According to Peter Vincent Pry, staff director of the congressional EMP commission, a recent North Korean medium-range missile test that was widely reported to have exploded midflight could in fact have been deliberately detonated at an altitude of 40 miles.

Was it a dry run for an EMP attack? Detonation at that altitude of a nuclear warhead with a yield of 10 to 20 kilotons--similar to those tested by North Korea--would produce major EMP effects and inflict catastrophic damage to unhardened electronics across hundreds of miles of surface territory. It is a myth that large yield nuclear weapons of hundreds of kilotons are required to produce such effects.
Although some analysts have dismissed the possibility of a successful North Korean EMP attack--either on South Korea or the United States--several factors could make it a more appealing first-strike strategy for Kim Jong Un’s nuclear scientists than a direct, missile-delivered nuclear strike. For one thing, accuracy is not a concern; the North Koreans simply need to get near their target to sow chaos. Nor would they need to worry about developing a reliable re-entry vehicle for their ballistic missiles.

Conventional wisdom aside, a North Korean EMP attack on the U.S. may also not be far-fetched. "North Korea could make an EMP attack against the United States by launching a short-range missile off a freighter or submarine or by lofting a warhead to 30 kilometers burst height by balloon," wrote Mr. Graham earlier this month on the security blog 38 North. "Even a balloon-lofted warhead detonated at 30 kilometers altitude could blackout the Eastern Grid that supports most of the population and generates 75 percent of US electricity. Moreover, an EMP attack could be made by a North Korean satellite." Two North Korean satellites currently orbit the earth on trajectories that take them over the U.S.

This is not mere theory. In 1962 the United States detonated a 1.4-megaton nuclear warhead over the South Pacific, 900 miles southwest of Hawaii. Designated "Starfish Prime," the blast destroyed hundreds of street lights in Honolulu, caused electrical surges on airplanes in the area, and damaged at least six satellites. Only Hawaii’s undeveloped electric power-transmission infrastructure prevented a prolonged blackout. It was the era of vacuum-tube electronics. We are living in the digital age.

The U.S. and South Korea should ensure their ballistic-missile defenses are effective and harden their electric power grids against EMP effects as soon as possible. The day of reckoning could come sooner than anyone in either country thinks.

Mr. Cooper was the U.S. ambassador to the Defense and Space Talks during the Reagan administration and director of the Strategic Defense Initiative during the George H.W. Bush administration.

'We don't scare,' U.S. defense secretary James Mattis sez after London attack
[Reuters] U.S. Defense Secretary Jim Mattis said on Monday the United States and its allies would continue to fight against Islamist extremists and would not be scared by attacks against the West by the Islamic State group.

British Prime Minister Theresa May has said Britain must be tougher in stamping out Islamist extremism after attackers killed at least seven people by ramming a van into pedestrians on London Bridge and stabbing revelers in nearby bars.

Islamic State, which is losing territory in Syria and Iraq to an offensive backed by a U.S.-led coalition, said its militants were responsible for the attack, the group's media agency Amaq said in a statement monitored in Cairo.

One French national and one Canadian were among those killed. At least 48 people were wounded in the attack, including at least one Australian.

"We are united, as I said, in our resolve, even against an enemy that thinks by hurting us they can scare us," Mattis said, appearing in Sydney alongside U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson for the first time outside the United States.

"Well, we don't scare," Mattis said.

President Trump to nominate counterterrorism coordinator
[The Hill] President Trump plans to nominate former Homeland Security official Nathan Sales as the State Department's coordinator for counterterrorism, the White House said Friday evening.

Sales, who teaches on national security and counterterrorism at Syracuse University, previously served as deputy assistant secretary for policy at the Department of Homeland Security and as senior counsel in the Justice Department's Office of Legal Policy.

The State Department counterterrorism coordinator position was among a number of open senior posts for which the Trump administration had not put forward a nominee.

Trump has emphasized stepped up security measures following deadly attacks in the United Kingdom this year, most recently after attacks on and near the London Bridge last weekend.

Jared Kushner and Mueller set to meet soon with Senate Russia probe
[Wash Times] President Trump’s son-in-law and special adviser Jared Kushner and special counsel Robert Mueller, head of the probe into alleged Russian meddling in the 2016 election, are expected to soon meet with Senate Intelligence Committee, according to various sources and published reports.

When Mr. Kushner will gather with committee members has not been confirmed,NBC News reported Friday.

Mr. Kushner will reportedly provide the committee with documents it has requested, in addition to facing questions from senators.

Mr. Kushner is married to Mr. Trump’s daughter Ivanka and ran the Trump campaign’s digital voter outreach strategy. He has come under increasing scrutiny for contacts he allegedly had with business interests tied to Russian President Vladimir Putin before Mr. Trump was inaugurated in January.

Mr. Mueller, who was appointed last month, will meet with committee Chairman Richard Burr, North Carolina Republican, and ranking Democrat Sen. Mark Warner of Virginia, according to committee staff. No specific date has been set.

Loretta Lynch, Swamp Thing
[American Thinker] Arguably, the most interesting part of the testimony of James Comey, the cowardly lion of the criminal justice system, before the Senate Intelligence Committee on Thursday is not that President Trump was cleared of even a smidgeon of corruption and obstruction of justice but that President Obama’s Attorney General, Loretta Lynch, is up to her eyeballs in both. As the Daily Caller reports:
Loretta Lynch, the former attorney general under Barack Obama, pressured former FBI Director James Comey to downplay the Clinton email server investigation and only refer to it as a "matter," Comey testified before the Senate Intelligence Committee on Thursday.

Comey said that when he asked Lynch if she was going to authorize him to confirm the existence of the Clinton email investigation, her answer was, "Yes, but don’t call it that. Call it a matter." When Comey asked why, he said, Lynch wouldn’t give him an explanation. "Just call it a matter," she said....

Earlier in his testimony, Comey said Lynch instructed Comey not to call the criminal investigation into the Clinton server a criminal investigation. Instead, Lynch told Comey to call it a "matter," Comey said, "which confused me."

Comey cited that pressure from Lynch to downplay the investigation as one of the reasons he held a press conference to recommend the Department of Justice not seek to indict Clinton.

Comey also cited Lynch’s secret tarmac meeting with Bill Clinton as a reason he chose to hold the press conference, he said, as he was concerned about preserving the independence of the FBI.
This is far worse than President Trump asking Comey in a private conversation to wrap up the Flynn investigation after Flynn was dismissed as National Security Adviser. This was a director order by Comey’s immediate superior to align his rhetoric with the Clinton campaign spin. This is what Comey did, calling it a "matter" and not a criminal investigation, which is the only thing the FBI does. Couple this submissive compliance to an order to help the Clinton campaign with their spin with the meeting on the tarmac between Lunch and Bill Clinton, the husband of the target of that criminal investigation, and you have an obvious case for charging Lynch with obstruction of justice.

If Comey was concerned about preserving the integrity of the FBI, he wouldn’t have leaked the memo of his private conversation with President Trump to the New York Times through a third party. That memo, prepared on a government computer by a government employee on government time, is the property of the U.S. government and the U.S. taxpayer. Its unauthorized dissemination is a clear violation of the Federal Records Act and executive privilege. Comey was charged to find leakers, not be the leaker-in-chief.

Did James Comey's Document Leaks Violate The FBI Employment Agreement?
[The Federalist] Former FBI director James Comey's decision to leak FBI documents to a friend may have violated the FBI's employment agreement regarding unauthorized leaks.

During his testimony to the Senate Intelligence Committee on Thursday, former FBI director James Comey revealed that he was the source of leaked memos about his conversations with Donald Trump surrounding the Russia investigation. Comey explained that he shared the memos with his friend, a professor at Columbia University, who then shared them with the New York Times, actions that may violate the FBI’s own employee agreement.

"My judgment was I needed to get [the memos] out into the public square," Comey said. "So I asked a friend of mine to share the content of the memo with a reporter. I didn’t do it myself for a variety of reasons, but I asked him to because I thought that might prompt the appointment of a special counsel."

Obesity, inactivity could outpace smoking in cancer death risk
[USA Today] Obesity and inactivity could someday account for more cancer deaths than smoking if current trends continue, a leading cancer expert says.

As the rate of smoking decreases, other unhealthy habits threaten to offset the progress in reducing cancer deaths, says Richard Wender, a physician and chief cancer control officer at the American Cancer Society (ACS). A study in the New England Journal of Medicine last fall found 13 types of cancer were linked to excess body weight.

There's no guarantee that obesity and inactivity will surpass smoking as a cancer cause, Wender says, but the possibility is startling.

"Who would’ve thought we’d ever see the day where what you eat (and) exercise, could account for more cancer deaths than smoking?" he asks.

The connections between smoking and too much exposure to the sun and cancer are well known, but the connections between nutrition and exercise and cancer are less known and harder to determine.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Congressional Investigators Probe James Comey Leak Network
[Breitbart] A bipartisan group of powerful senators is asking the man believed to have helped ex-FBI Director James Comey leak his infamous "let this go" memo to the media to produce that memo for them.

Senators Chuck Grassley (R-IA), Diane Feinstein (D-CA), Lindsey Graham (R-SC), and Sheldon Whitehouse (D-DE) -- the chairs and ranking Democrats of the Senate Judiciary Committe and its National Security Subcommittee -- sent a letter Thursday to Columbia Law Professor Daniel Richman demanding he provide them with the original memo he supposedly leaked to CNN on Comey’s say-so.

The letter calls the memo, reported to describe President Donald Trump telling Comey to go easy on former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn, "relevant to the Judiciary Committee’s ongoing investigative efforts."

The letter also demanded all other memoranda Comey may have provided Richman, and gave him only until midnight Friday. Breitbart News cannot confirm or deny if Richman complied with the Senators’ demands.

Richman confirmed to multiple news outlets Thursday that he was the "friend" whom Comey enlisted to leak the memo to the press. This ended speculation that began immediately after Comey admitted under oath he had leaked the memo containing his account of conversations between himself and President Donald Trump. Comey claimed that his hope in doing so, immediately after he was fired, was to force the appointment of a special counsel, which has now come to pass in the person of Comey’s predecessor as head of the FBI, Robert Mueller.

Richman reportedly went into hiding after his name hit the national news and has not been seen in his Brooklyn neighborhood since. His disappearance from view as the request for the memo pends has raised questions about the memo, the validity of which Comey swore by in his Thursday tesitmony before the Senate Judiciary Committe.

Sharyl Attkisson, reporter for Full Measure News, tweeted her skepticism in light of these developments, including Comey’s own testimony that he no longer has an original copy himself.

He said Arouri was joined by two other Hamas members. "The three, led by Saleh al-Arouri, will continue trying to perpetrate terror attacks against Israel from Leb, while at the same time strengthen the ties between Hamas and Hezbollah. All of this will be done under Iranian auspicies and with aid from the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps and (IRGC command) Qasem Soleimani," Lieberman said.

Arouri, the defense minister added, "is a dangerous terrorist who was responsibile for some deadly Hamas terror attacks against Israel, and he must not be allowed to continue with his actions."

"Leb is a sovereign country that maintains ties with the United States," he continued. Police in Spain tossed in the clink
Keep yer hands where we can see 'em, if yez please!
a young Arab woman whom they said called for violence against Jews online and was flagged gathering intelligence about Israel’s embassy in Madrid.

The 23-year-old woman, who is a Moroccan citizen of Syrian and Paleostinian descent, was arrested this week in Zaragoza, 170 miles northeast of the capital, for hate speech and incitement to violence, police sources told the ABC newspaper. The paper’s article Wednesday about the arrest did not identify the suspect by name.

According to ABC, police flagged the woman in 2016 after noticing her several times near the embassy in Madrid, including in the presence of faceless myrmidons. Police reportedly followed the woman and discovered her identity, leading counterterrorist researchers to monitor her activities online.

On Facebook, where the woman moderated one anti-Israel group with more than 2,000 subscribers, the researchers documented the suspect praising Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth", and speaking favorably about the murder of Jews, leading to her arrest.
Can't have that when the government is trying to seduce the descendants of those expelled in 1492 to come back, bringing their money and job-creating creativity with them...
Across Western Europe, authorities have increased their vigilance of hate speech against Jews following several jihadist attacks against Jewish targets in La Belle France, where in January 2015 a jihadist killed four Jews at a Gay Paree kosher store, and Belgium, where four people were murdered the previous year in an armed attack at the Jewish Museum of Brussels.

Last week, French police arrested a man in Marseille, La Belle France, Nacer Bendrer, on suspicion that he acted as an accomplice to the Frenchie currently on trial in Belgium for the museum killing, the RTL broadcaster reported. The defendant, Mehdi Nemouche, has denied any involvement in the killings. Bendrer was arrested and released in 2014 following the attack but has been taken into custody again recently, the report said.

Separately, last week the Spanish pro-Israel group ACOM announced it has launched a lawsuit for racial discrimination against the municipality of Ayamonte, 300 miles southwest of Madrid, over the passing at the Ayamonte city council on May 25 of a motion declaring support for the Boycott, Divestment and sanctions campaign against Israel.

Spanish courts, including high courts, have passed rulings against more than a dozen Spanish municipalities over the past two years over similar motions, which the judiciary has deemed discriminatory and illegal.

This development has caused several municipalities either to reverse motions already passed in favor of the boycott, or vote against approving drafts brought to a vote.

On May 29, the city council of the municipality of Santa Colona de Gramenet near Barcelona voted against a draft resolution favoring a boycott, ACOM said in a statement last week. Another draft motion expressing solidarity with Paleostinian snuffies in Israeli jails failed to pass in the council of Cueta, one of Spain’s autonomous regions.

Stone-throwing Gazan killed by IDF
[Ynet] Israeli soldiers shot up Paleostinians who were throwing stones near the border fence in the Gazoo Strip on Friday, killing one man and wounding four others, the Paleostinian Health Ministry said.

Operations were conducted out of Egypt until 1981 when the group was exiled after the assassination of President Anwar Sadat. They worked out of Gaza until they were exiled to Lebanon in 1987, where they clove tightly to Hezbollah. In 1989 they moved to Damascus, where they remain a subsidiary of Hezbollah...
Paleostinian turban says the dead man was a member of their armed wing.

An Israeli military spokeswoman said hundreds of Paleostinians had gathered along the fence and were throwing stones and burning tires.

Soldiers on the Israeli side of the border opened fire after their calls to the Paleostinians and warning shots were ignored, she said.
Everybody want to own him, according to The Times of Israel:
A Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, fighter was killed and six were maimed during festivities with IDF troops on Friday near the border between Israel and the Gazoo Strip.

"Aeid Jumaa, 35, was killed and six other Paleostinians were maimed during festivities along the Gazoo border (with Israel) north of Jabalia," the Hamas-run Interior Ministry’s front man Ashraf al-Qudra said.

The terror group issued a statement saying that Jumaa was one of its members.

Uh Oh: Department Of Justice Now Pushing Back Against Comey Claims
[Hannity.com] The Department of Justice has issued a statement in which they are disputing certain aspects of Comey's testimony in front of the Senate Intelligence Committee.

In one case, the DOJ is disputing Comey's claim that he had never received any notification regarding the parameters of Attorney General Jeff Sessions' recusal from the Russia investigation.

"In his testimony, Mr. Comey stated that he was 'not *** aware of' 'any kind of memorandum issued from the Attorney General or the Department of Justice to the FBI outlining the parameters of [the Attorney General’s] recusal,'" the DOJ Statement reads. "However, on March 2, 2017, the Attorney General’s Chief of Staff sent the attached email specifically informing Mr. Comey and other relevant Department officials of the recusal and its parameters, and advising that each of them instruct their staff 'not to brief the Attorney General *** about, or otherwise involve the Attorney General *** in, any such matters described.'"

In addition, the Department of Justice acknowledged that a story published shortly after Comey's firing which claimed the former FBI Director had requested additional resources for the Russia probe was, in fact, false.

"Despite previous inaccurate media reports, Mr. Comey did not say that he ever asked anyone at the Department of Justice for more resources related to this investigation," the statement reads.

#1  Attorney General Jeff Sessions' recusal from the Russia investigation.

I never understood why Sessions recused himself. Maybe, it was a part of the deal necessary for his confirmation as AG. Pubs should have employed the nuclear option and gone on. I don't recall Loretta Lynch or Eric Holder recusing themselves on anything.

#3  I think that one of the more interesting ironies of the Comey testimony is that, in the end, for special counsel Robert Mueller to be able to "credibly" assert that his investigation followed the evidence "wherever it led" is that at some point there is the probable possibility that it will become necessary to open an investigation into the legally questionable actions and motives of James Comey.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions recused himself from the entire Russian investigation on the hypothetical possibility that evidence (or a case) pertaining to any member of the Trump Campaign may come before him. It was the recusal of Jeff Sessions that opened the door for the appointment of a special counsel in the first place.
Since the testimony of James Comey has now became a major, integral, and incontrovertible piece of evidence to the entire Russian investigation and as former acting Deputy Attorney General and Director of the FBI, should Robert Mueller not be held to the same standard as Jeff Sessions ?

If Robert Mueller truly does possess any of the wonderful characteristics and attributes so effusively heaped upon him by both sides of the isle he will have no choice but to recuse himself.
But I wouldn't bet on it.

in Germany, after the federal courts investigative judge had issued a warrant for the suspect on May 25. The arrest was announced yesterday by the federal prosecutors bureau, which also stated, that the 23 years old man from Syria entered Germany in September 2015 as a refugee.

In Germany the man named ’Mohammed G.’ acted as a contact person for Amaq news agency to factual or potential perpetrators of terroristic attacks in the name of ISIS. He served as conduit in 2016, when Amaq new agency demanded a personal confession, of a man, who later was arrested in Sweden, because of an arson attack against a Shiite community center on October 11.

Amaq was unwilling to publish an article claiming the attack for ISIS without confirmation. With the perpetrators confession, the story was published and in consequence ISIS officially claimed the attack in its al-Naba newspaper.

In addition he was also arrested for spreading ISIS propaganda in several chat groups. The arrest in Rietberg, North Rhine-Westphalia is just the latest in a row of terrorism connected investigations. Three weeks ago 5 asylees were arrested in Berlin and Essen, for links to Islamic Death Eater groups and planning a terror attack and next Tuesday 3 Syrians will face court in Hamburg due to their ISIS membership.

The three peacekeepers were killed outside the camp. Nationalities were not given.

The attack is just the latest to target the 12,000-strong force in the west African nation. Guinean and Chadian soldiers make the majority of those at the Kidal camp.

It also came days after La Belle France circulated a UN Security Council resolution that would authorize military action by five countries in Africa’s vast Sahel region

Afghanistan
Hekmatyar’s stance and warnings regarding the recent political upheavals
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The leader of Hezb-e-Islami Gulbuddin Hekmatyar announced the party’s stance regarding the recent political upheavals in the country, warning that the persistent deadlocks and fall of the current regime will have a negative impact on the condition of the country.

Speaking during a press conference in Kabul, Hekmatyar said the nation has the right for peaceful demonstrations and every Afghan must raise their voice for the change.

However, he said the use of power, violence, and arms to reach to the ARG Palace were a mistake which should not be repeated in the future.

Hekmatyar further added that his party does not support the fall of the current system in the place and emphasized that such violent moves will not be allowed either.

He also warned that the country will fall to the hands of the Taliban group if any individual or party attempts to bring down the government.

This comes as deadlock persists between the government and the demonstrators, mainly comprising of Jamiat-e-Islami supporters after the Friday demonstrations turned violent.

The Jamiat-e-Isalmi party announced its conditions for an end to the deadlock and demanded the removal of the top security officials, including the national security adviser Mohammad Hanif Atmar to step down, accusing the security establishments for failing to maintain security for the people.

The last Friday demonstrations were organized in response to the deadly bombing in Kabul on May 31st which left more than 150 dead and hundreds wounded.

Hekmatyar meanwhile accused the foreign circles for the attacks and said his party will continue support the current regime, urging the other parties to adopt a similar stance.

Southeast Asia
AFP sees liberation of Marawi on Independence Day
[SUNSTAR.PH] THE Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) is hopeful that Marawi City will finally be liberated on Monday, June 12, which is also the 119th Independence Day of the Republic.

During Friday’s Mindanao Hour press briefing in Manila, AFP spokesperson Restituto Padilla, said they are “feverishly working” on a target of raising the Philippine flag in Marawi City on Monday, the 119th year of Philippine Independence from Spanish colonial control.

“Rest assured, our soldiers are doing their part, they’re doing their best and are continuing on with this effort on the ground to facilitate the liberation of Marawi hopefully by Monday,” Padilla said.

Padilla said the resistance put up by the terrorist may have weakened by that day.

On Thursday, government soldiers began a final push to flush the terrorist out of Marawi, expected to conclude after four days.

Asked on the basis of the assessment, the AFP official said there was an offensive launched on Friday morning against enemy positions.

“So this continues up to this moment and we are confident our troops are gaining important headway inside these areas. And as I have mentioned the other day, definitely proving that the world of the terrorists inside the city is growing smaller by the day,” he said.

Padilla also noted that the volume of fire coming from the enemy has decreased and enemy activity in areas where so much has been monitored has dwindled, and sniper fire has been very selective. He said the end game is to have Isnilon Hapilon and the Maute brothers arrested “if we can arrest them.”

“But if we cannot, then to neutralize them, because I guess they will always fight it to the end,” he said. “So the liberation of Marawi will only be when every armed element in the city is gone,” the AFP official said.

Since its inception in the early 1990s, the group has carried out bombings, kidnappings, murders, head choppings, and extortion in their uniquely Islamic attempt to set up an independent Moslem province in the Philippines. province, the military said.

Lieutenant Colonel Andrew Bacala, 4th Special Forces Battalion commander of the Philippine Army, identified the surrenderers as Abdulla Kalitut, 35, Natim Alamin, 25, and Adzmil Alamin, 20. Bacala said they have turned over an M-16 Armalite, two Garand rifles and several rounds of ammunition.

The three bandidos are followers of ASG sub-leader Nurhassan Jamiri. Kalitut has a P600,000 bounty for his arrest and is listed as number four in the group of Jamiri, Bacala said. He said Kalitut told them they decided to yield to the government forces after experiencing hardship due to sustained military offensive in Basilan province.

"We are always on the run from the military. We do not have decent sleep or food. We are tired. We miss our families. We miss having a normal life," Kalitut said.

The foreign factor in Mindanao crisis
Scorecards! Gitcher scorecards here! You can't tell the players without a scorecard!
[MANILATIMES.NET] WHEN President Duterte mentioned in a talk that imported muscle would regroup in Mindanao after their rout in the Middle East, I greeted the statement with some skepticism. But with the Marawi incident and the discovery of imported muscle among the Maute band, I thought that the President must be some sort of Nostradamus.

As background, the Maute group, also known as the IS-Ranao, which figured prominently in the Marawi siege, is a radical Islamist group composed of former guerrillas of the secessionist Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) guand some imported muscle. based in Lanao del Sur, Mindanao, Philippines. The group already figured in a clash with Army troops in February 2016 that ended with the capture of their headquarters in Butig, Lanao del Sur. The group is thought to have over 100 members and was supplied with equipment by a foreign terrorist. They are said to be affiliated with Jemaah Islamiyah, a Southeast Asian Islamist terror group.

Syrian Army neutralizes waves of Islamic State attacks in Deir Ezzor
[ALMASDARNEWS] Beginning shortly after midnight on Friday, ISIS hard boyz stormed trenches and strongpoints controlled by the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) around the embattled Panorama roundabout west of Deir Ezzor city.

At least 20 ISIS hard boyz were killed during the firefights, many of whom lay dead in a no-mans zone between the warring parties. Five corpses were retrieved by the SAA whom took their weapons as spoils of war, then handed the Kalashnikov guns over to pro-government tribal forces.

Chimpanzees aren't people, New York court says
[RT] The New York Supreme Court has rejected a claim by an advocacy group that two chimpanzees held in captivity should be treated like legal persons and granted the right of habeas corpus – relief from unlawful imprisonment.

The Nonhuman Rights Project and its president, Steven Wise, sought habeas corpus relief for Tommy and Kiko, two chimpanzees held in cages by private owners in upstate New York, and argued that chimpanzees were entitled to many of the same legal rights as humans.

Five judges on the Appellate Division of the state’s Supreme Court ruled unanimously against the group on Thursday. Any shared abilities the chimpanzees may have with humans do not translate to their ability to be held legally accountable for their actions, Justice Troy Webber wrote in the decision.

Britain
Who is the DUP? A brief history of UK parliament’s new kingmaker
[RT] The Conservatives and the DUP won’t form a formal coalition government but the latter will support the government regardless.

"We want there to be a government. We have worked well with May. The alternative is intolerable. For as long as Corbyn leads Labour, we will ensure there’s a Tory PM," a DUP source was cited as saying in by the Guardian.

The party is the creation of firebrand
...firebrands are noted more for audio volume and the quantity of spittle generated than for any actual logic in their arguments...
Protestant Evangelical Minister Ian Paisley. Reverend Paisley also founded the Free Presbyterian Church of Ulster and was characterized by his entrenched Unionist views and his hostile opposition to the Catholic Church.

In its early years, the party was heavily involved in a campaign against homosexuality and fiercely opposed gay rights.

Paisley, who was famed for his extraordinarily fiery

speeches, routinely preached against homosexuality and the party picketed gay rights events as part of their ’Save Ulster from Sodomy’ campaign.

The campaign was ultimately unsuccessful as homosexuality was decriminalized in 1982.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Trump’s demand, Abbas’ dilemma
[Ynet] The US president wants the Paleostinian leader to adopt Egypt and Jordan’s commitment to a real war on terror. If Abbas agrees, it will be the end of the dream to ’liberate Paleostine through an armed struggle.’ How will he explain that to Paleostinian refugees and to the offspring the people he marched with on the paths of terror?

US President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
’s statement in his meeting with Paleostinian President the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas
... a graduate of the prestigious unaccredited Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow with a doctorate in Holocaust Denial...
in Bethlehem, that "peace won’t come where terror is rewarded," is nothing less than a historical and pivotal statement, as it touches the more exposed nerves of the Israeli-Paleostinian conflict. Trump yearns to implement the moderate Arab-Sunni model in the "territories"--like Egypt and Jordan, for example.

The extent of anti-Israeli incitement in the two countries, which have peace agreements with us, is just as high as in the "territories." The verbal attacks launched by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sissi and Jordan’s King Abdullah on Israel’s leaders, as a sort of tax they are paying oppositional elements in their countries, are pretty "legitimate" as well in the Middle East. Nevertheless, the Egyptian president and Jordanian king’s commitment to a real war on terror is the model that the United States would like to see in the Paleostinian Authority territories as well. Will this happen with Abbas?

The chances for that are not high. People argue that in spite of Trump’s short time in office, he rushed to draw operative conclusions about the Israeli-Paleostinian conflict. It seems to me that in light of the current state of affairs across the West Bank and the Gazoo Strip, he was uncompelled to study the issue too intensively and thoroughly. Trump immediately realized that even if Abbas wears a suit, talks quietly and moderately and repeats again and again that he is "extending a hand towards peace," the Paleostinian leader is still committed to terror.

Abbas, Trump believes, is not mature enough yet for the changes the US is planning in the Middle East, which is why the American president raised the bar very high for Abbas in Bethlehem: He is willing to let the Paleostinians keep the spots, as long as they bid farewell to the leopard traits.

What is this about? It’s not just the high monthly salary paid to whoever sheds more Israeli blood, or the monuments and streets commemorating faceless myrmidons who murdered Israeli babies in their beds. It’s not just the glorification, which the West has finally began detesting, of "freedom fighters" like terrorist Dalal Mughrabi, who murdered at least 37 Israelis in the bus massacre in March 1978 with her accomplices. It’s not just the kindergartens in the "territories," which display jacket wallahs’ boom belts on the doll and puzzle shelves. It’s also Abbas himself.

Abbas has a proven terrorist reputation. It has been claimed that he was one of the criminal masterminds of our athletes’ murder in the 1972 Munich Olympics and stood by Yasser Arafat and Abu Jihad in the most difficult junctions of terror. Western leaders are eager to grant faceless myrmidons a sort of rehabilitation. Nevertheless, until today, not a single American leader has demanded that the Paleostinians change, but really change. Neither Barack Obama
If you like your coverage you can keep it...
nor Bill Clinton
...former Democratic president of the U.S. Bill was the second U.S. president to be impeached, the first to deny that oral sex was sex, the first to have difficulty with the definition of is...
, and not even the George Bushes, held a gun to any Paleostinian leader’s head and demanded that he take a step which almost means political suicide. Abbas is required to give up the splendid idea which every Paleostinian has been educated on since the day he was born--the liberation of all of Paleostine through an armed struggle and the Paleostinians' return to Paleostine.

Abbas is supposed to ignore the refugees in the camps, who are dreaming of returning to the occupied homeland. He is supposed to turn his back on the second and third generations of the people who marched with him on the paths of terror for years. In fact, Trump had demanded that Abbas betray the path and doctrine of Mufti Amin al-Husseini and Sheikh al-Qassam, and disconnect from the ideological basis that Fatah and the PLO were founded on. The meaning, without a doubt, is loss of control for the rais over the street, over the organization and over the Paleostinian people.

Trump, therefore, is seeking to replace the Paleostinian people... He may actually, however, lead to the replacement of Abbas.

#1  I do not give a damn how you explain it, Abu Mazen. Maybe your own history with blowing up Olympics could open a door how not to act.

For if you ever go Arafat on US again in your phony quest, Israel should just forget about the asshole fundies paid by foreigners, that could not even get into Jordan. Which also happens to be perched on the Land of My Beloved Israel.

None of this is yours, do you understand?

As far as I AM concerned, Israel has all right to run the invaders off of GODS LAND.

Especially bloodthirsty heathen with no code.

I will go Old Testament on you if you let the bad guys into your dens of hatred. To Face Israel, This last punishment for you ...

Will actually be the "Final Solution"

Russian MP proposes ‘delayed death penalty’ for convicted terrorists
[RT] The head of the State Duma Committee for Security has proposed allowing Russian courts to sentence convicted turbans to death under condition that the execution of the sentence is delayed until the current moratorium on capital punishment is lifted.

"We are moving towards humanization, but I would like our courts to use the term capital punishment in the sentences passed for especially grave crimes, with large numbers of victims killed by kabooms or terrorist attacks. The actual execution can be postponed to the moment when the general public starts to realize that this punitive measure must be applied," MP Vasily Piskaryov (United Russia) said in an interview with TASS.

2 Americans led double lives as Hezbollah agents, officials say
More about the miscreants in this story from yesterday.
[WBALTV] Two men traveled repeatedly to Leb for years, leading double lives as regular Americans and terrorist operatives for Hezbollah, according to US law enforcement officials.

Ali Kevin Kourani, 32, of the Bronx, New York, and Samer Steve el Debek, 37, of Dearborn, Michigan, were tossed in the clink
Yez got nuttin' on me, coppers! Nuttin'!
and charged last week by the Department of Justice with providing material support to Hezbollah's Islamic Jihad
...created after many members of the Egyptian Moslem Brotherhood decided the organization was becoming too moderate.
Organization, the IJO.

Details of the accusations against them were revealed in criminal complaints made public in Manhattan federal court on Thursday.

Hezbollah, which has roots in Leb, is considered a terrorist organization by the United States. The IJO wing of the group is "responsible for the planning, preparation and execution of intelligence, counterintelligence and terrorist activities," officials said.

Kourani, who came to the United States in 2003 with a Lebanese passport and became a citizen in 2009, is accused of being in contact with Hezbollah between 2002 and 2015, and of attending a 45-day Hezbollah "boot camp" in Leb at age 16.

According to the criminal complaint against him, Kourani described his role with IJO as a "sleeper." These undercover operatives were supposed to "maintain ostensibly normal lives but could be activated and tasked with conducting IJO operations," the complaint said.

Kourani was a student in the United States and received a bachelor's in biomedical engineering in 2009, the year after he was officially recruited by Hezbollah, officials said.

This Week in Guns, June 10th, 2017

By Chris Covert
Rantburg.com

Last weekend I trolled the Daily Mail's news site, discussing why Brits should be armed. I didn't get much of a rise, except from a couple of (I assume) young wimmin who said they didn't want white people in Britain shooting brown people.

Rather than waste my time trying to explain why her remark said more about her views of brown people than mine on guns, I concluded that Britain is just irrecoverable without a major, violent insurrection.

For that they'll need guns.

David Cordrea explicates why elites such as Kim Kardasian want to control your guns, but still have armed security.

And finally, a young man demonstrates how many iPhones it would take to stop a 5.45x39mm AK-74 round.

I mean really. What a waste of ammo.

Loads.

Rantburg's summary for arms and ammunition:

Quarterly Ammunition reports, a week late, are shown below.

Pistol ammunition prices were mostly steady. Rifle ammunition prices were mostly steady.

Prices for used pistols were mixed. Prices for used rifles were higher across the board.

New Lows:

None

Heh. I was being interviewed by some school kids about the fire/evac. Finished describing some of the memorable slides, nice kid goes, 'Woww...did you get any pictures?' Me: I was a bit busy dealing with the problem to take selfies.

Class does a funny laugh, as in yeah guess you would be.

Now, video is a handy tool, but I think of that dork in London who decided he was going to live-feed his death while giving a lecture on colloquialism. Turn the video on, set the phone/tablet down, and get to work on the real problem at hand. Even if you don't get good video, the audio is extremely helpful. Most important, live to joke about bad/no camera placement.

#5  The only essential for a major, violent revolution is a large number of dead people.

That didn't happen with 9/11.

Instead the talking heads took to the airwaves almost immediately warning us to "not jump to conclusions" and the politicians decided what we needed to do was wage some sort of ambiguous "war" on some ambiguous target ("terror") while harassing the flying public.

Islamic State claims it killed two Chinese in Pakistan
[BBC] The so-called Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
says it has killed two Chinese nationals who were kidnapped from south-west Pakistain by gunnies in late May.

The IS-linked Amaq news agency made the claim in an Arabic statement on the Telegram messaging app.

China's foreign ministry said it was "gravely concerned" and working to verify the information.

The pair are said to have been studying Urdu at a language centre in the city of Quetta when they were kidnapped.

According to local media reports at the time of the abduction, gunnies took the couple as they left the centre. Another Chinese woman just managed to escape during the confrontation.

At the time, neither IS nor any other turban group said they had kidnapped the pair. Balochistan
...the Pak province bordering Kandahar and Uruzgun provinces in Afghanistan and Sistan Baluchistan in Iran. Its native Baloch propulation is being displaced by Pashtuns and Punjabis and they aren't happy about it...
has seen kidnappings of foreign nationals in recent years by armed Islamist or separatist groups, sometimes for a ransom.

Islamic State controls some territory in Afghanistan and has been seeking to strengthen its hold in Pakistain since 2015 when it carried out its first attack in the country.

China is one of Pakistain's major allies, investing heavily in infrastructure projects including nuclear power plants, roads and dams.

New on the SR-72 (successor to the SR-71)
Lockheed Martin's Skunk Works recently divulged some information about the SR-72 program to build a successor to the iconic SR-71 Blackbird reconnaissance aircraft. The advanced aircraft development division of Lockheed Martin told Aviation Week that hypersonic technologies, including a combined cycle propulsion system that merges a supersonic jet engine with a rocket engine, have advanced to the point that work on the planned SR-72 can begin in earnest. On paper, the SR-72 will be a strike and reconnaissance aircraft capable of topping Mach 6.
Just imagine what video/photo tech can do by the time this is actually up and flying!

Lordy! James Comey set for $10 million payday as publishers scramble to sign book deal with fired FBI chief for inside story on Hillary, Trump - and his own brush with death by a serial rapist
[DailyMail] - Comey's going to have the biggest Washington golden parachute ever, says one literary agent who already has the green light on a $10 million advance

- 'Jim Comey's explosive story makes 'West Wing' and 'House of Cards' on a par with Mister Rogers,' an acquisition editor for a major New York publishing house tells DailyMail.com

While he can't reveal classified information, he has yet to tell his own story behind Hillary email investigation, his dealings with Trump and his life

- When he was 16, Comey and his younger brother Peter were victims of a gunman who invaded the Comey home in suburban New Jersey

- Comey has proven his writing ability - at the College of William & Mary in 198o he wrote a much praised three-part series for the campus paper, The Fat Hat

If the publishing world has anything to say about it, the nation's ex-top cop, 56, will be a multimillionaire ten times over from the book deal major publishers are offering to pay up front for his memoir ‐ a whopping $10 million, DailyMail.com can reveal.

It's a sum right up there with the kind of advances paid to the Clintons - although maybe not a high as the Obamas
Sweet, sweet irony.-
and the kind of royalty money generated by Comey's nemesis Donald Trump's many books.

'Jim Comey's story has everything, from White House intrigue to possible corruption and law breaking. His explosive story makes 'West Wing' and 'House of Cards' on a par with Mister Rogers,' an acquisition editor for a major New York publishing house told DailyMail.com

'When his proposal hits my desk, I've already been authorized to offer $10 million.'

Israel bans university lecturers from discussing politics in class
[RT] Lecturers at Israeli academic institutions will be barred from discussing political issues with their students, after the education minister introduced a new "ethical code." Breaking it could mean a reprimand or disciplinary action.

Lecturers at Israeli universities will be restricted in expressing their views to students under the "ethical code on political activity in academia" composed by Professor Asa Kasher, who also authored the ethical code of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), Ynet reported.

Education Minister Naftali Bennett, who requested the development of the code, wants the restrictive rules to be implemented at all academic institutions.

"Complete academic freedom ‐ yes. Promoting political agendas of lecturers in academia ‐ no," Bennett argued.

Father of Maute brothers, 3 others moved to Manila

individuals including the Maute patriarch, who are linked to the notorious Maute Terror Group, were transferred to a detention facility in Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City on Wednesday evening, June 7. The transfer was made for "security purposes," while the driver was already released after authorities found no sufficient evidence.

Brigadier General Gilbert Gapay, Martial law spokesperson in Eastern Mindanao Command (Easmincom), told news hounds in a presser on Thursday, at The Royal Mandaya Hotel that around 9:45 p. m. , June 7, Maute group head Cayamora Maute, 67, along with his daughter Norjannah Balawag Maute and her husband Benzarali Tinglao, and Cayamora's second wife Kongan were flown from Davao City to Manila, hours after cases were filed against them.

"It is for security reasons that he was transferred. He is the patriarch, the head of the Maute clan and he is considered a high value individual, at the same time, high-risk individual also. That's why we opted to transfer him to Manila," Gapay said.

They were transported through the C130 aircraft of the Philippine Air Force.

Gapay said Cayamora has a large participation in the formation of the group and the recent attack of the Maute Group in Marawi City.

After the inquest proceedings, the driver, Aljon Ismale Salaxar, was released while the rest were charged for illegal possession of firearms and explosives after a caliber . 45 and hand grenade were recovered inside the black Toyota Grandia van when they were nabbed at the checkpoint in Sirawan, Toril. Also found in their possession are P363,000 cash and personal belongings.

Maute already had a warrant of arrest for rebellion. He was included in the list of the faceless myrmidons in an arrest order issued by the Department of National Defense (DND) secretary Delfin Lorenzana.

"In Maranao if you are the patriarch, your influence in your family is very great, very strong that's why [siya] yung [nagbibigay ng] guidance and direction [to the group])," Gapay said.

Saudi coalition strike kills family of four in Sanaa
[Al Jazeera] At least four civilians, including three children, have been killed after a Saudi-led coalition air strike tore through a residential area in the Yemeni capital Sanaa.

Hussain Albukhaiti‏, an activist based in Sanaa, told Al Jazeera on Friday afternoon that three people were still missing from the late-night raid that struck the south of the city.

"Four members of the al-Mahdi family, including an elderly woman and her three young grandchildren, were killed after their house was struck with an air strike shortly after midnight," Albukhaiti said.

He said there was no military installation near the site of the attack and no reported activity by Houthi
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. Gun, illegal drugs found in ex-Marawi mayor's house
[SUNSTAR.PH] AUTHORITIES found high-powered firearms, ammunitions, and illegal drugs in one of the houses owned by former Marawi City mayor Fajad Umpar "Pre" Salic in Cagayan de Oro City on Thursday.

The raid was conducted after Salic's arrest in Villanueva town, Misamis Oriental, Wednesday night. He was arrested for rebellion.

Police Regional Office-Northern Mindanao spokesperson Lemuel Gonda said members of the Martial Law Special Action Group (MLSag) raided Salic's two houses at Xavier Estates Subdivision on Thursday, June 8, and found 10 medium-size sachets of suspected crystal meth (locally known as shabu), 120 live ammunition, four M203 high explosive, and an M16 rifle.

Gonda said Salic and his daughter-in-law both refused to sign the search warrant receipt. MLSag members found the illegal items in Salic's house at Phase 1, Butong Street. His house at Phase 4 Golden Rod Street, in the said subdivision, yielded no prohibited items.

The MLSag is composed of the 4th Infantry Division, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG)-Northern Mindanao; Police Regional Office-Northern Mindanao; Cagayan de Oro City Police Office; Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Northern Mindanao; and other intelligence units.

The CIDG will take charge of the filing of lawsuits against Salic while his detention remain at the criminal investigation group's jail facility.

Salic is among the over 100 personalities listed in the Arrest Order issued by the Department of National Defense for rebellion charges under the Article 134 of the Revised Penal Code.

Salic is related to the Mautes by marriage. His wife, Rasmia Salic, is the niece of Farhana Romato Maute, mother of Abdullah and Omarkhayyam Maute.

The Maute brothers are said to be among the top leaders of Dawlah Islamiya, one of the groups that pledged loyalty to the extremist Islamic State.

#1  We would be two steps forward with the F-22 - it used the same system and it is a problem.

But F-22 are holding everything together right now.
I also see the idiot airforce want tos still can the A-10. Could we please give that project to the Army with it's funding.
I AM very angry to have to see this every quarter when there is no replacement.

Also, Does anyone see a problem with putting the U.S. Coast Guard under the DOD - without same Legal Restrictions (Posse Comitatus) -

At least that way, maybe I could get two New F$%&*ng Ice breakers I have been bitching about for a Decade.

The training is the same but having a Coast Guard with more leverage could be an asset to the way Russia and China especially have enlarged their reach over the seas.

Considering the Russians new found elevated interest in routing over the North Pole, would it not be prudent that Our Coast Guard have the dual authority and the correct chain to use it;

Seeing as these other "Strategic Competitors are going to be using their blue flag fleets as well?

#2  Also, the POS Airforce wants to junk the A-10 for a new junk B2 which will be co un-necessary. Every new car in the show room, the Airforce wants to buy and shut everything else out.

And Congress is aiding bad behavior. They want aerial aircraft carriers with drone swarms.
One hit takes that out, or a hack.

I think more about Ravens and Erik Prince and his cheap army of tiny aircraft.

Maute's attack on church in Marawi a 'desecration'
[SUNSTAR.PH] A CATHOLIC priest called the recent attack of the Maute terrorist rebels against the church in Marawi City group as "desecration" to the Catholic faith after they destroyed the religious statues and torched down the church amid the crisis.

Former Davao Archbishop Emeritus Fernando Capalla, in Friday's Hermes Club press forum at Waterfront Insular Hotel, slammed the terrorist group who pledged alliance with the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (Isis) in their recent attack on the Catholic Church in Maraw City.

"It was a desecration. According to Marawi Bishop Edwin del Pe¤a, it is demonic, only devil can do that to give brutal disrespect to something that we consider holy," Capalla said, pertaining to the video that circulated in social media showing how the notorious rebel group smashed the sacred images of the church and setting St. Mary's Cathedral in Marawi City on fire.

Syrian Army, Hezbollah reaches border with Iraq for the first time in years
[ALMASDARNEWS] Late on Friday afternoon, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA), Hezbollah and allied Iraqi paramilitary contingents dashed through southeastern Homs and reached an Iraqi border point, thus slicing adrift the frontline between rebel forces based in the al-Tanf region and ISIS Lions of Islam in the neighboring Deir Ezzor governorate.

Unopposed by the US Airforce and its vetted Syrian proxies, the SAA and its allies drove through over 40 kilometers of abandoned desert territory and managed to link up with an Iraqi garrison across the border.

The advance was confirmed by the Russian Ministry of Defense and an Hezbollah-linked outlet moments ago.

Effectively, the SAA is now able to reopen trade between Damascus and Baghdad. Government forces have not controlled any parts of the largely ISIS-controlled border with Iraq since 2014.

In addition, Hezbollah is now able to be supplied with weapons from Tehran via an all-important land route. Previously, the Lebanese group relied on complicated airlifts for new armaments.

Verizon to slash over 2K jobs after acquiring Yahoo for $4.5B
[RT] Verizon is expected to lay off around 2,100 workers after concluding its acquisition of Yahoo. The cuts will come from duplicate jobs in its AOL unit which will be combined with Yahoo to form a new company called Oath.

Verizon is expected to cut more than 2,000 jobs as a result of its $4.48 billion acquisition of Yahoo, according to reports from Rooters and TechCrunch on Thursday. A day earlier, Recode reported that sources said only up to 1,000 jobs would be lost.

Verizon will combine its Yahoo unit with its AOL unit, which it acquired in 2015 for $4.4 billion. The new company will be rebranded as Oath and will be led by AOL Chief Executive Officer Tim Armstrong, according to Rooters.

"Oath’s strategy is to lead the global brand space. With access to over 1 billion consumers upon close, we will be positioned to drive one of the most important platforms in the consumer brand space. Consistent with what we have said since the deal was announced, we will be aligning our global organization to the strategy," an AOL spokesperson told TechCrunch.

Verizon is expected to downsize staff at their AOL and Yahoo units by around 15 percent once the merger is finalized. Around 14,000 employees currently work at the two units, according to Rooters.

The merger between the two companies is expected to create redundancies in several departments, such as human resources, finance, marketing and general administration, according to Recode.

14 killed as soldiers clash over food aid in Somalia
[Iran Press TV] At least 14 people, most of them civilians, were killed as soldiers clashed over food aid in drought-ravaged Somalia’s southwestern city of Baidoa, where tens of thousands of people have streamed in seeking assistance.

The fighting broke out at a distribution site after some soldiers tried to steal food sacks meant for displaced people and other soldiers guarding the aid stopped them, said police Col. Isaq Hassan.

At least 20 people were maimed. Some were at death's door, a nurse at Baidoa’s main hospital, Mohammed Ahmed, told The News Agency that Dare Not be Named.

Somalia is one of four countries singled out by the United Nations
...a lucrative dumping ground for the relatives of dictators and party hacks...
in a $4.4 billion aid appeal to avert catastrophic hunger and famine, along with Nigeria, South Sudan and Yemen. The UN has said that together they make up the world’s largest humanitarian disaster in more than 70 years.

Tens of thousands of people have been fleeing to Baidoa and other Somali cities in search of food and support, overwhelming local and international aid agencies. More than half a million people across the country have been displaced.

UN condemns Hamas for tunnel under schools in Gaza
[WASHINGTONPOST] A U.N. aid agency that helps Paleostinians in Gazoo condemned the territory’s Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth", rulers on Friday after discovering a tunnel running under two of its schools for boys.

Hamas has built a sophisticated network of tunnels in Gazoo used for smuggling, storing weapons and for gunnies to infiltrate Israel and carry out attacks.

Israel has long accused Hamas of exploiting civilian infrastructure and of using supplies for military installations instead of civilian projects.

UNWRA said Friday it "condemns the existence of such tunnels in the strongest possible terms."

"It is unacceptable that students and staff are placed at risk in such a way," it said, adding that it "robustly intervened and protested to Hamas."

The agency said it is sealing the tunnel under its premises and will ban students and staff from the building until the issue is resolved.

The tunnel was found on June 1 under the Maghazi Elementary Boys A&B School and the Maghazi Preparatory Boys School during construction work, according to UNWRA. Both schools were empty at the time due to summer vacation.
The Times of Israel adds:
The tunnel, between two and three meters underground, was built both westward into the Paleostinian enclave and eastward toward the security fence with Israel, according to UNRWA.
So it was easy to find, unlike the deep tunnels where Hamas muckety-mucks live, far from Israeli missiles.
