BREAKING: Senior Republican politician and several aides shot at baseball practice near Washington
[Telegraph]
  • Several injured after shooting at baseball practice in Virginia

  • '50 shots fired by gunman with rifle'

  • House Majority Whip Steve Scalise and aides among injured

  • At 7:30 a.m. police tweeted 'Suspect believed in custody'
The Telegraph is updating this story, so check back, dear Reader.
Update from Fox News at 8:35 a.m. EDT:
The gunman was shot by U.S. Capital Police, apprehended and taken to the hospital. Sen. Mike Lee told Fox News, however, the gunman was dead. Rep. Mo Brooks reportedly used a belt as a tourniquet to stop Scalise's bleeding.

"Both @POTUS & @VP are aware of the developing situation in Virginia. Our thoughts and prayers are with all affected," White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer tweeted.

Rep. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., told Fox News he left just before the shooting. As he walked to his car, a man asked DeSantis if it was Republicans or Democrats practicing. About three minutes the shooting began, DeSantis said.
There is a lovely tweet with photograph of Congressional Democrats praying for their colleagues.
Update from the BBC at 8:55 a.m. EDT
Mr Brooks said a gunfight ensued between the shooter and the congressmen's police security detail.

CNN reports that two police officers were also shot.

Mr Brooks said the shooter was armed with a rifle and opened fire from behind the dugout, using it for protection.

The congressman, who said he took refuge behind a batting cage, described the attacker as a middle-aged white male "a little on the chubby side".
All these sources are updating, so check them all for the latest.
Update from the Telegraph at 10:00 a.m. EDT:
  • Five taken to hospital after shooting at baseball practice in Virginia

  • Gunman in hospital, shot by Capitol Hill police

  • House Majority Whip Steve Scalise and aide to Roger Williams among injured

  • Scalise shot in hip and undergoing surgery, his office say

  • Victims in stable condition
  • Update at 8:00 p.m. EDT from the Daily Mail -- as usual, with lots of pictures:

#9  My Congressman. His security detail deserve a lot of credit - two handguns vs semiauto rifle.
One has to wonder how the shooter managed to manage only a few hits out of 50 or so shots with a rifle at fairly short range.

#10  From the descriptions of the shooter's behavior I'm gonna guess: a radicalized leftist who only recently became familiar with firearms - just familiar enough to be a threat. Had the shooter actually known what they were doing, we'd be looking at something even more horrific than what it already is. =

#20  So my knuckle dragging perspective: Congress and the media have blood on their hands. We are lucky as hell that this was not some 3% guy or there would be a body count. Congress has the opportunity to drive a narrative here. For the last two years they have rode the media wave dehumanizing everyone on the other side, driving us to Antifa and now this. The left and the right have both done this and fed the fires. They have spun the American people into a frenzy. The media drives it 24 hours a day. We will see more and more of this until our leaders show unity. Showing unity is how we stop this impending civil war. Our self serving leaders need to stand up and show unity, be representative of "we the people" and reach compromises. Gun laws wont fix this, only narratives and calm leadership can do this.

#36  So one more observation. This shooter is a 66 year old housing inspector. By all accounts a rational man. So we have to drive into the question of what drove him to pick up arms and sacrifice his life for this cause. Now the Troll answer is he a lib, or Bernie socialist, or Antifa. But this does not get to any root cause. So again We have to look at what drove him, and what drives the others to action. Men are all rallied into action, even crazies have the voices in their heads that rally them. Give me liberty or give me death is a rally term that turned into a battle cry. Men are driven to action when they feel threatened or something they love and value is threatened. The threat can be real or perceived, but it has to be believed. This guy believed what his leaders were saying, they. In short trusted their leaders to lead. The Antifa crowd believe capitalism will end the world, environmentalists believe Trump will kill the planet, and the right believes the Dems are all self-serving and evil. All of which are perceptions, not true, and all did not just happen but were driven by people of power and respect. But all are narratives driven from someone or some group supported by our collective leaders in DC. The DC shooter is not a nut, or crazy. He is a fool, or as they say, useful idiot.
In short I believe our media is seditious, trading our national health and security for advertising dollars and click bait, and our political leaders are attention whores that are so self-absorbed they do not realize the course they have set America on. Again, peeling back the hate and disgust for our political elite, I do believe they all started with noble intentions. I have to believe this, the other option is not imaginable. So this all goes sideways as our media drives a 24 hour news cycle. They need controversy, political controversy. There just are not enough plane crashes to fill the news cycle. So let’s drive 24 hour politics on the news. When there is nothing of interest, let’s talk abortion, gun control, race relations, get the public lathered up. Now with the increased political coverage the politician are drunk with exposure. You see it with other celebrities, the more exposure they get, the more self-serving they become. We are reaching an apex here with our current leaders. Their elitism in unabashed, they are glowing in the spotlight and saying whatever will keep the light on them. In that they have forgotten the very principles of leadership that they were elected to perform. They have developed an outlandish new form of MOB rules with the media. We hired them to serve us, to go to DC and make our nation function as fair, as honest, as strong, and as cheaply as humanly possible. We did not send them there to be divisive, hateful, and to dehumanize people who disagree. Our political class must learn to better manage this media spotlight. They must learn to tone down the rhetoric. Or we will enter into the next Civil War.

#39  "I have to believe this, the other option is not imaginable."

But it is the truth. The left has open called for fighting republicans in the streets. They openly post pro assassination images. Punch them and get in their faces. #Resistance They side with the violent thugs that tear up colleges. They call off police to allow the people on the right to be beaten. This is the course they are plotting.

Civil war is most likely inevitable and remember who pushed to get there.

#47  Ptah, We can point fingers at each other or we can find the root cause and go after it. I don't argue the daily caller, what I'm concerned about is how they were motivated to get there. ALL revolutions are started this way. Finding the trigger point and stopping it is the goal. Stopping it after lead flies is war, and war is always the result of failure see and fix a problem early. We are at the cusp, some say past it, of a real shooting war inside America. It does not matter who starts it, if we can see it coming we should try and remove the drivers. Toning down our leaders rhetoric and shutting down the press's over dramatization of our leaders remarks will go a long way to keeping people in a more rational state. The power of propaganda is driving this, Antifa and the rest. When the right feels threatened enough to act it will get unbearably ugly. The right own the guns and vets, if they/we act the brutality will be unacceptable. We have to diffuse it before we feel the need to act with the same violence they are using, because with shooing over 50 rounds, this lib only hit 5, it would have been a blood bath if the 3% guys had done it. We need to end this before it gets to that.
    Posted by: 49 Pan || 06/14/2017 17:04 Comments || Top||

#48  WTFF, we know what the cause is and we've been pointing it out for months now, and quite vociferously these past few weeks. The problem is The Left has not even paused in their push to overturn the will of the people. And right on time, BLMs Shaun King blames the shooting on White People. The violence is going to continue because The Left insists on it. Fresh off of attacking an elected official for his Christian faith, Bernie Sanders this Saturday called PDT "the worst and most dangerous president in the history of our country" Fast forward to today. Of course, if WE want to end the violence, we can always just surrender.

    #55  WaPo again:
Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-Ga.), a member of the GOP baseball squad who was on the scene during Wednesday morning’s shooting, said Congress should explore allowing lawmakers to carry weapons to defend themselves.

“If this had happened in Georgia, he wouldn’t have gotten too far,” Loudermilk told reporters Wednesday at the Capitol. “I had a staff member who was in his car maybe 20 yards behind the shooter, who was pinned in his car, who back in Georgia carries a 9-millimeter in his car. . . . He had a clear shot at him. But here, we’re not allowed to carry any weapons here.”

WaPo did point out that Alexandria VA has few restrictions on gun ownership or possession, but bans firing guns (except by LEOs in performance of their duties).

#60  49 Pan: I agree that the situation is deteriorating, but how do you expect to successfully address it apart from the facts?

The situation has deteriorated to the point that both sides will only listen to their leaders. As my link showed, there have been abundant opportunities for Democrat leadership to condemn violence perpetrated by their constituents, but with the (issued just today) condemnation by Bernie Sanders, they have not. Now, if you would please provide a link showing that Republicans and Jacksonian Democrats have instigated violence, THEN we'll certainly demand strong language condemning such violence, as well as issuing it ourselves.

As it stands, the facts show that the violence has been initiated entirely from the leftist Democratic side, with the SOLE instance of active self-defense coming from the Berkeley riot AFTER the police deliberately withdrew equal protection under the law. For the most part, this shows remarkable constraint without any need of admonishment from their leaders. Equivocations and avoidance of the facts is the moral equivalent of you saying to them "YOU didn't build that character. YOU are totally devoid of internal moral strength. YOU need powerful leaders such as US to keep YOU on the straight-and-narrow."

#63  OK, so you are either trolling my comments or you missed the point completely. Your muzzie comment leads me to believe you missed the point. I'm not giving the dems a break here, They and the media are responsible for this. I'm trying to look past this, if we do we will find some of the same root causes that align with radicalization of muslims in America, its the same root cause that promoted Nazism, the fascism of the antifa thugs, and the KKK. Yes every group I listed, except the muzzies are liberals, so the fuck what? We can start shooting liberals. What we have to do is interrupt the ability of preaching hate to get to a wide public. My comments are more about what it takes to motivate someone to action and an opinion on how this guy got radicalized enough to be willing to die for his cause. Liberalism is not a disease, this guys actions are a product of motivating events. I believe the 24 news cycle and the radical language from our attention whore political class led to this. Again, I don't argue that the left is much further down the road to radicalization and civil war than the republicans. My point also is that the right is not very far from the returning fire mode. The actions of the press and the media are textbook methods of instigating a civil war. Separate the people into two groups, dehumanize the other side, make their beliefs a disease, make them the fault for everything wrong, the instruction manual is fairly simple. Read Jacques Ellul, the propagation of men's minds. It is a study of WWII and how men were motivated to fight. I was hoping on a discussion on how to silence the hate rhetoric from our so called leaders, how to reduce the influence the press has on our society. How to prevent the narrative from driving us into civil war. But I guess finger pointing is the easy button. Its the same with the muzzies. I'm not giving either a pass, the radical is our enemy, because they are acting. I want to get at the controllers, the motivators, and when America has a sound discussion on that, we will be a better nation. Understanding the motivation for the hate from the left and the hate from the muzzies happens the same way. Its not about hug and welfare and empathy, this is about understanding the process of radicalization and discussing way to shut it down, before loonies like this take action.

#69  Sorry pan, but if you want to know how "radicalization" takes place it would begin with the regular destruction of truth. Your own attempt at rational discussion betrays that some of that destruction has already affected you--you referred to "radical" muslims. Sorry--they're not "radical"--that's merely part of the fiction the powers that be are selling. They are *literalist* Muslims, not "radical"--they do what they do because their holy book tells them to literally do so.

Everyone can't be "Hitler". Islam is a morally challenged belief system (to put it mildly). Men and women are different. One can't change one's "gender"--they can only butcher their body. Its not a "clump of cells"--its an unborn child. These are only a few of the things that most people understand almost inherently, yet we now live in a society where voicing such common sense risks a public outcry.

Truth--it always begins and ends with truth.

Palantir software fella goes from Pentagon outsider to Mattis' inner circle
[Politico] The Trump era has brought a change of fortune for a Silicon Valley software company founded by presidential adviser Peter Thiel -- turning it from a Pentagon outcast to a player with three allies in Defense Secretary James Mattis' inner circle.

At least three Pentagon officials close to Mattis, including his deputy chief of staff and a longtime confidante, either worked, lobbied or consulted for Palantir Technologies, according to ethics disclosures obtained by POLITICO. That's an unusually high number of people from one company to have such daily contact with the Pentagon leader, some analysts say.

It also represents a sharp rise in prominence for the company, which just months ago could barely get a meeting in the Pentagon. Last year, Palantir even had to go to court to force its way into a competition for a lucrative Army contract.

Thiel was one of the few Silicon Valley titans to openly support Donald Trump during the campaign, a role that gave him a prime speaking slot at last summer’s Republican convention. He has since acted as a key adviser arranging meetings among the president and other tech executives. While there's no evidence he had a direct hand in these specific Pentagon hires, analysts say they absolutely show his growing influence in the administration, where he holds no formal role.

Jim DeMint: Washington Will Never Fix Itself, So Here's What We Do
BLUF: [Hot Air] DeMint thinks he’s found that way.

He signed on this week as senior adviser to the Convention of the States Project. All that group wants to do is to get at least 38 states to rise up and amend the United States Constitution.

Now, before you say, yeh, right, like that’s ever gonna happen... Actually, go ahead, say it.

You’re right, it seems like a long-shot, a very looong-shot. But one of the unique strengths of the Founding Fathers’ government is its built-in ability to self-restore, especially if driven by popular movements.

Azania? Sounds like an over the counter decongestant
[IO] Arts and Culture Minister Nathi Mthethwa has vowed to lobby the ANC to open a discussion on finding an appropriate name for South Africa.

Mthethwa, who is also an ANC NEC, member was responding to calls made by a resident in Molweni to debate the issue of the country’s name during the party’s national policy conference at the end of the month.

Mthethwa told party supporters during a cadre’s forum on Sunday that South Africa was not the name of the country, but just "a geographical description of where we are".

Resident Bhekisisa Khanyeza said it was unacceptable for a liberated country to continue with a colonial name.

Mthethwa, whose department is in charge of naming public areas, said the ANC had never given itself time to think about the name of the country.

"To tell the truth, the country does not have a name. It is not there," he said.

"They can change every name in South Africa, but it won't change the fact that the government has failed to provide services or curb crime."

California gov named special adviser to UN climate conference
[The Hill] California Gov. Jerry Brown (D) on Tuesday was named a special adviser to the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Bonn, Germany, later this year.

The appointment by Fiji Prime Minister Frank Bainimarama came less than two weeks after President Trump announced that the U.S. would withdraw from the 195-nation Paris climate accord.

Dozens of business executives, mayors and governors including Brown have vowed to uphold the country's commitment to the agreement, despite Trump's decision to withdraw.

Brown has become a high-profile advocate for climate action on the world stage in recent weeks. The California governor traveled to China last week where he spoke with President Xi Jinping about climate change and signed bilateral climate deals.

Kamala Harris Silenced During Sessions Meeting [VIDEO]
[Daily Caller] Democratic California Sen. Kamala Harris was silenced during the testimony of Attorney General Jeff Sessions when she refused to let him fully answer her questions.

The California senator tried to lock Sessions in a rapid fire question-and-answer style that didn’t allow Sessions to give full answers to her line of questioning.

"Did you consult [Department of Justice policy] before you came before this committee knowing we would ask you questions about it?" Harris asked of Sessions’ assertion that he wouldn’t discuss private conversations with the president.

Sessions tried to answer before Harris cut him off, asking, "Did you ask that it would be shown to you?"

Sessions was clearly becoming frustrated with her inability to let him finish his thoughts, but Harris kept going.

"Did you not ask your staff to show you the policy that would be the basis for your refusing to answer the majority of questions that have been asked of you?"

"Chairman, the witness should be allowed to answer the question," one senator can be heard in the background.

Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Richard Burr took the reigns, saying, "Senators will allow the chair to control the hearing. Senator Harris, let him answer."

#1  Dems showcase one of their 2020 budding communist hopefuls. Follows is a link to the leftest rag 'Palmer Report' which leaves little doubt the Dem goal is to bring down President Trump:

Amid Donald Trump hearings, Kamala Harris rises into 2020 presidential contention

Excerpt: Harris has only been in the Senate for a few months, meaning she wouldn’t ordinarily be on such a fast track to national prominence. But these aren’t ordinary times. She has a strong resume back in California, including time spent as District Attorney, and then State Attorney General. However, she’s entered the national limelight primarily due to her performance during the hearings into Trump’s Russia scandal.

Kamala Harris was the one who helped former FBI Director James Comey to fully paint an accurate picture of Donald Trump’s attempted obstruction of justice when she pointed out that it doesn’t matter what precise words a robber uses when he’s pointing at gun at you. And yes, Harris was the one who kept her cool and persisted when she was cut off by her male Republican counterpart, in a trend that’s become all too familiar of late.

I watched her little performance. She's a real attack dogbitch. Acted like she was prosecuting some two-bit liquor store robber. IMHO, here's what the Dems refused to acknowledge: The president cannot assert executive privilege if his underlings spill the beans before he gets a chance to assert it therefore Sessions was protecting and preserving Trump's right to assert executive privilege by refusing to answer some of the Dems' questions. But they kept trying to make it sound like Sessions was showing contempt. Again, IMHO, if they can ignore simple facts to make something like that sound like contempt or obstruction they'll do it because they've got nothing else. MSM will go along with them by ignoring the simple facts themselves and the sheeple will never know the difference.

Confirmed (again): Hamas used hospitals to launch rockets during 2014 Gaza conflict
[LI] Hamas provoked the 2014 Gaza war through relentless rocket launches at Israel.

In retaliating, Israel faced a dilemma -- Hamas used the Gaza civilian population as human shields. Hamas also intimidated journalist into trying to cover up this human shield strategy so that the media focused primarily on the civilians killed or injured when Israel attacked rocket launch sites.

And it worked. Civilian casualties (which were exaggerated by Hamas-controlled Gaza health authorities) created a media and international firestorm meant to limit Israel’s ability to defend itself.

But over time, the truth came out about how Hamas used even hospitals as firing positions, Hamas hides in, under and around Gaza’s main hospital, and the media covers it up (Video):

Michigan Vietnam vet is President Trump's 1st Medal of Honor recipient
[Breitbart] SOUTH HAVEN, Mich. (AP) -- Members of Army medic James McCloughan’s unit in Vietnam called him "Doc."

Now, those soldiers, several of whom McCloughan saved during the ferocious, dayslong Battle of Nui Yon Hill in 1969, will have a new name for him: Medal of Honor recipient.

Army spokeswoman Valerie L. Mongello said Tuesday that the 71-year-old from South Haven, Michigan, will become the first person to be awarded the nation’s highest military honor by President Donald Trump.

"I feel honored to be able to accept this for the 89 men that fought that battle," McCloughan (pronounced muh-CLOO’-uhn) said, referencing the number of American combatants, dozens of whom were killed, wounded or went missing during the 48 hours of fighting against hundreds of North Vietnamese and Viet Cong.

Then a 23-year-old private first class who was drafted a year earlier after earning a degree in sociology from Olivet College, McCloughan repeatedly entered the "kill zone" to rescue wounded comrades, despite being pelted with shrapnel from a rocket propelled grenade.

McCloughan "voluntarily risked his life on nine separate occasions to rescue wounded and disoriented comrades," the White House said in an emailed statement Tuesday. "He suffered wounds from shrapnel and small arms fire on three separate occasions, but refused medical evacuation to stay with his unit, and continued to brave enemy fire to rescue, treat, and defend wounded Americans."

Israel to test fire anti-missile system.... in Alaska
Israel is set to carry out a joint test of its Arrow 3 intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) defense system in the United States next year, the first time such a test will occur outside of Israeli territory.

The exercise, which will be carried out in cooperation with the US Missile Defense Agency (MDA), is set to take place on the Alaskan island of Kodiak where the system will be tested against targets simulating advanced ballistic missiles being developed by Iran.

US drone strike kills two militants in Pakistan
[Iran Press TV] Pak officials have announced the death of a key krazed killer commander in an Arclight airstrike allegedly carried out by a US drone.

Three intelligence officials said on Tuesday that Abu Bakr, a commander of the Haqqani krazed killer Network, was killed earlier in the morning when his house in northwestern Pakistain was targeted by missiles.

They said Abu Bakr’s house was located in Dewal, a village some five kilometers south of the city of Thal, where a US drone had been seen hovering. They said the krazed killer commander was inside the house as two missiles hit the property.

The officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said an aide to the krazed killer commander was also killed in the strike.

Residents said three more people, including a boy, were maimed in the attack.

Local media said Abu Bakr, known by his original name Omar, was from Afghanistan’s Khost province
... across the border from Miranshah, within commuting distance of Haqqani hangouts such as Datta Khel and probably within sight of Mordor. Khost is populated by six different tribes of Pashtuns, the largest probably being the Khostwal, from which it takes its name...
and had been living in the tribal regions of Pakistain over the past years. He then moved to Dewal after the Mighty Pak Army launched a massive crackdown to hunt key krazed killer leaders in the restive Wazoo region.

There was no official confirmation from Washington neither from US military officials based in the region. Some reports said the dronezap, if confirmed, could be related to a recent attack in the diplomatic region of the Afghan capital, Kabul, which killed some 150 people. The Afghan government has blamed the Haqqani network in Pakistain for the high-profile attack. However,
some people are alive only because it's illegal to kill them...
in a later audio message issued by big shots, the group denied any involvement.

NYPD agrees $75mn payout over illegal ‘broken windows' policy
[RT] A class-action lawsuit accusing the New York Police Department of issuing hundreds of thousands of summonses in order to boost its crime statistics has been settled for $75 million.

A federal judge approved the settlement Monday after seven years of litigation.

The controversy arises out of the NYPD’s ‘broken windows’ policing strategy, tactics based on the idea that clamping down on minor crimes, such as broken windows, helps prevent more serious crimes. The NYPD adopted the policy in the 1990s and it subsequently spread to other American cities.

The plaintiffs in the case Sharif Stinson et al v City of New York argued that minorities have been disproportionately targeted by the policy.
Da Mayor don't like when his peeps are disrespected. This kind of thing will continue until New Yorkers elect another Rudy Guiliani.

Red Crescent: Hamas tried to stop humanitarian aid distribution in Gaza
[Ynet] The secretary-general of the Red Crescent Society of the United Arab Emirates accused Hamas on Monday of attempting to prevent the distribution of humanitarian aid in the Gaza Strip.

According to Secretary-General Mohamed Ateeq Al-Falahi, the Red Crescent's staff was stationed at a UAE field hospital in the strip during the 2014 Operation Protective Edge when Hamas fighters began provoking Israeli forces by firing rockets from that hospital.

This led Israel to attack the hospital as the launch point for the rockets, thus sabotaging the distribution of the humanitarian aid.

Russian Exercise Will Soon Put 100,000 Troops on NATO's Border.
[DefenseOne] For the Baltic countries on NATO’s northeastern flank, carefully monitoring Russia’s various defense investments and activities is nothing new. Like brushing your teeth, it’s just a matter of staying healthy, Estonia’s defense minister told a small group of reporters while visiting the U.S. last week. Observing Russian military activity is that routine, “but we do it even more often,” he said.

So Margus Tsahkna and his counterparts in neighboring Latvia and Lithuania say they’re in no way unprepared for Russia’s upcoming military exercise, Zapad (“West”) 2017. The joint exercise with Belarus, which simulates a full-scale conflict with the West, happens every four years. But even so, “it’s not comfortable at all when we expect to have 100,000 troops around our borders,” Lithuanian Minister of Defence Raimundas Karoblis said during a recent visit to Washington.

Scheduled for autumn, this year’s Zapad will be the first since Russia annexed Crimea in 2014.

New Hickey King Has Been Crowned
[THESMOKINGGUN] A Kentucky teenager arrested this week appears to have set a new U.S. record for hickeys.
Either she loves him or he's tasty.
Micah Musser, 18, was arrested yesterday morning after Louisville police discovered him and several juvenile runaways inside an abandoned building. Musser and the minors were found laying [sic] on the floor, which was strewn with “empty alcoholic beverage containers,” according to a court citation.
"Hey, kids! Let's hole up in an abandoned building and get sloshed!"
"Sure, Mickey! C'mere and lemme suck on yer neck for awhile!"

Musser told cops that he and the minors had consumed the alcohol after gaining entry to the boarded-up property the prior evening.
"Yersh, officers! 'At's what we did! An' den somebody suckled my neck!"
Charged with criminal trespassing and unlawful transaction with a minor, Musser was booked into the Louisville Metro Corrections jail. He is scheduled for a June 13 arraignment on the misdemeanor charges.
"A person is guilty of unlawful transaction with a minor in the first degree when he or she knowingly induces, assists, or causes a minor to engage in: (a) Illegal sexual activity; or (b) Illegal controlled substances activity other than activity involving marijuana or salvia"
The citation offers no details as to how Musser obtained the apparent hickey swarm on his neck.
They look pretty fresh. Maybe part of the "unlawful transaction?"
Based on photos uploaded to his Facebook page in late-April, Musser’s hickeys appear to be of recent vintage.

Four people killed in central Somalia over clan revenge
[SHABELLENEWS] At least four civilians were reported to have been killed, and several maimed by clan holy warriors in central Somalia on Tuesday morning, residents said.

Armed clan loyalists attacked a make-shift IDP camp at Kahan-Dhale village in Galgadud region, near Somalia’s border with Æthiopia, and rubbed out four people, including women.

Liyu police ‐ the Æthiopian Somali Region special force is reported to be responsible for the murder of the civilians, who were IDPs fled from the drought-hit areas in Galgadud region.

Local armed clan militia linked with Liyu police began targeting the IDPs from central Somli, who recently arrived in the border town of Kahan-Dhale looking for food and water.

Culling feral hogs from the sky in Texas takes off
[Rooters] In Texas, the pigs do not fly but the hunters do.

Tourists looking for ever more thrilling holidays are taking to the skies above Texas to shoot wild hogs as part of the state's effort to limit the spread of an invasive species that annually causes millions of dollars in damage to farmland and livestock nationally.

For up to $50,000, people can hunt the feral hogs from a helicopter and even use a machine gun to mow them down.

"There's only so many places in the world you can shoot machine guns out of a helicopter and no one shoots back," said Chris Britt, co-owner of HeliBacon, one of the companies offering the aerial hog hunts.

HeliBacon says its customers alone gunned down about 10,000 feral hogs in the last 18 months, but that barely makes a dent in the Texas' population of more than 2 million, a total higher than any other state.

There were 2,752 helicopter hog hunts in Texas last year, up 81 percent from 2011, according to Texas Parks and Wildlife Department data. About 34,400 hogs were killed in those hunts, up 53 percent.

The total U.S. population of the hogs is estimated at more than 6 million, and state and federal government officials are increasing efforts to rid themselves of the pesky animals.

There are nearly 150 companies and individuals permitted to hunt invasive feral hogs from helicopters as part of the Texas' so-called pork chopper bill passed in 2011. State legislators last month sent a bill to Governor Greg Abbott that would allow hog hunting from hot air balloons.

Men storm NSW cinema shouting Allahu Akbar
[AU.NEWS.YAHOO] NSW Police are investigating after a group of men reportedly screaming "Allahu Akbar" entered a western Sydney cinema leaving customers rattled.
Moslems have an obligation to make sure infidels don't enjoy themselves. It's in the Koran someplace. You could look it up.
Officers were called to the Hoyts Blacktown at Westpoint shopping centre about 8pm on Sunday night after reports of a disturbance.

Investigators were told four men yelled comments within two cinemas at the complex causing some concerned patrons to leave the building, a police front man told AAP on Tuesday.

Cinemagoers told News Corp Australia the group of men shouted Allahu Akbar before they fled. One of the cinemas was showing Baywatch.
One thing the Koran is really strict about: No titties!
The cry, which means "God is great" in Arabic, is associated with Islamist terrorism.

Police officers searched the Hoyts and found nothing suspicious.

No one has been charged yet but investigations are continuing, the police front man said on Tuesday.

Chillingly, back in November, while addressing the managed by tenant managers Kensington and Chelsea Tenant Management Organisation (KCTMO), the group wrote: 'It is a truly terrifying thought but the Grenfell Action Group firmly believe that only a catastrophic event will expose the ineptitude and incompetence of our landlord, the KCTMO, and bring an end to the dangerous living conditions and neglect of health and safety legislation that they inflict upon their tenants and leaseholders.

'We believe that the KCTMO are an evil, unprincipled, mini-mafia who have no business to be charged with the responsibility of looking after the every day management of large scale social housing estates and that their sordid collusion with the RBKC Council is a recipe for a future major disaster.

'Unfortunately, the Grenfell Action Group have reached the conclusion that only an incident that results in serious loss of life of KCTMO residents will allow the external scrutiny
to occur that will shine a light on the practices that characterise the malign governance of this non-functioning organisation.

#6  This building went up very fast almost too fast. Are we sure it was a faulty refrigerator? How could this be determined so rapidly?
    Posted by: JohnQC

From the Sun: One witness told Sky they believed the fire was started by a faulty fridge.

Way down on the same page: Mahad Egal escaped from his flat on the fourth floor with his family, including two small children, just before 1am.

He was reduced to tears as he recounted the terrible events of the night on the Victoria Derbyshire show:

"The fire started on the fourth floor, my neighbour told me it was his fridge that exploded.

"We were one of the first 10 families who got out no later then 1.10am and at this point the fire was no higher than an average tree. "At first it seemed it was controllable, but really quickly the fire started to rise as the cladding caught fire."

We'll have to wait for the fire forensic team to finish their investigations before we'll know the cause for sure.

What was in those leftover Burritos, C4?

Either this is just a hyperbolic statement about a sudden flame from a short circuit or work accident. Refrigerators don't explode and aren't gas powered either.

I'll bet on some sort of arson given the tenant management fights I've read about.

Saif Al-Islam’s former jailer defends himself after LNA orders his brigade to disband
[Libya Herald] The man who freed Saif al-Islam Qadaffy, Ajmi al-Atiri, has complained at the decision by Libyan National Army (LNA) western commander Colonel Idris Madi to disband the Abubakr al-Saddiq brigade and incorporate its members into other units in the western region.

He said he had freed Saif to ensure Libya’s unity and that of the tribes, and that he was proud of what he had done.

He also said that the brigade should have been retained because it was the only effective one in Zintan and that it would have been better to dismiss him as its commander instead. However,
some people cause happiness wherever they go; others whenever they go...
he also explained he was a soldier and, as such, had to obey orders.

Madi announced that he was dissolving the brigade yesterday.

The decision was widely seen as an angry response to Atiri’s decision to release Saif al-Islam.

    However,
some people cause happiness wherever they go; others whenever they go...
Madi has now said that the disbandment had nothing to do with the freeing of Saif. Expressing his "full confidence" in Atiri, his patriotism and "his commitment as a military officer to carry out the orders", he said that the reorganization of LNA force in the west of the country had been planned over the past few months, and that the Abubakr al-Saddiq brigade was part of that reorganization.

Hungary tightens rules on foreign-funded NGOs
[Al Jazeera] Hungary's parliament has approved strict new regulations for foreign-backed civil society groups despite calls from the European Parliament and rights groups for the bill to be dropped.

Under legislation drafted by Prime Minister Viktor Orban's government and pushed through by the ruling Fidesz on Tuesday, compels groups that get more than US$26,200 a year from abroad to register with the authorities and declare themselves as foreign-funded, or risk closure for non-compliance.

The area between Ithriya and Tabqa is important for the army since it can be used to attack government-held towns and supply routes.

Ghizer girl dies of alleged torture by teacher
[DAWN] GILGIT: An 11-year-old girl student died here on Monday allegedly due to violence by a female teacher in a government school in Ghizer district, police said.

    Ghizer police locked away
Drop the gat, Rocky, or you're a dead 'un!
the teacher and started investigation into the case.

SP Ghizer Faisal Zahoor told mediapersons that the parents of the victim, a student of girls middle school Sherqila in Ghizer district, submitted an application with the women cop shoppe Ghahkuch, stating that their child died in hospital of violence by a teacher.

The complainants alleged that the girl was beaten by her teacher with an iron rod during the class, saying the girl’s legs were badly hit, which caused infection in leg bones.

"When the girl was admitted to a private hospital in the area, doctors suggested her to be shifted to Combined Military Hospital in Gilgit for treatment," said the parents, adding the girl died in the CMH on Monday morning.

SP Zahoor said after postmortem the body was handed over to relatives. He said it was yet to be investigated either the girl died of the alleged torture or any another cause.

Paperwork was started but nothing else was done in the women cop shoppe Ghahkuch, the district headquarters of Ghizer.

The police officer said when Ghizer police personnel reached Sherqila to arrest the teacher on Monday, some people from the area attacked the cops with stones.

Police also registered FIR against people who attacked the personnel.

The accused teacher and victim girl belong to Sherqila area.

Man who shot at Somalis gets 39-year prison term
[SHABELLENEWS] Anthony Sawina was sentenced Monday to 39 years in prison for shooting into a car full of young Somali men and wounding two of them in what many Muslims considered a hate crime.

The sentence, more severe than had been requested by attorneys for either side in Sawina’s trial, was handed down by Hennepin County District Judge Kathryn Quaintance.

Just minutes before the sentence was read, Sawina, 26, of Lauderdale, had apologized to the Somali and Muslim communities and to the men he wounded. After hearing Quaintance issue the lengthy prison term, however, he shouted, “You people are the real criminals. People are killing each other and they get less time. This is injustice at its finest and you know it.”

After his outburst, deputies moved in to take Sawina away.

On May 11, a Hennepin County District Court jury rejected Sawina’s self-defense argument and found him guilty of nine counts of assault and attempted first- and second-degree murder.

“The evidence showed that [Sawina’s] conduct was reprehensible and shocking,” County Attorney Mike Freeman said after the verdict, adding that he would seek a prison sentence “north of 20 years” for Sawina.

Quaintance’s sentence nearly doubled that prison term. On Monday, Assistant Hennepin County Attorney Patrick Lofton argued for a 25-year sentence by running some of the sentences consecutively. Sawina’s attorney argued for three years for each of the two bullets that struck the victims, for a total of six years.

Thai police raid WeChat ‘click farm’, find 347,200 SIM cards, arrest three Chinese men
[SCMP] Three Chinese men tossed in the clink

in Thailand have acknowledged that they were operating a "click farm", using hundreds of cellphones and several hundred thousand SIM cards to run up "likes" and views on WeChat, a Chinese social media mobile application, Thai police said Tuesday.

Immigration Police Captain Itthikorn Atthanark said the men explained they were paid according to how many likes and views they generated, each earning 100,000-150,000 baht (US$2,950-$4,400) per month. Click farms are hired to inflate an online site’s viewership for prestige and profit.

Some politicians boast of how many followers they have on social media, while clicks can generate ad revenue.

WeChat is China’s most prominent online social media platform, incorporating a text-messaging service as well as marketing for online stores.

Police seized 476 cellphones and around 347,200 SIM cards during the arrests Sunday at a house in Sa Kaeo province, about 200 kilometres east of Bangkok.

The men, identified as Wang Dong, Niu Bang and Ni Wenjin, were charged with working without a permit and importing the phones without paying taxes.

Cow vigilantes arrested for assault on Indian officials
[DAWN] Eight men have been nabbed
    Please don't kill me!
for violently ambushing a government convoy transporting cows in northwest India, police said Tuesday, the latest assault by vigilantes claiming to protect the sacred animal.

A mob of about 200 Hindu hardliners Sunday blocked the convoy of trucks in Rajasthan state as government officials escorted 80 cows and calves to a state-run breeding programme in India's south.

They attacked the officials after accusing them of taking the cows to a slaughterhouse, local police chief Gagandeep Singla told AFP.

"They stopped the trucks on the pretext of checking documents and then attacked them with sticks and damaged the trucks," he said, adding the mob tried to set the vehicles ablaze.

More than 50 vigilantes have been identified and charged with assaulting public officials, he added. One of those targeted in the 30-minute attack sustained serious head injuries.

Hindus, the majority in India, consider cows sacred and killing the beasts is illegal in many states, with life sentences imposed in some jurisdictions.

Abdullah Senussi holds court at Tripoli’s Radisson Blu Mahari Hotel
[Libya Herald] Abdullah Senussi, the Qaddafi regime’s intelligence supremo who was being held at the notorious Hadba prison until it was seized by Haithem Tajouri’s Tripoli Revolutionaries’ Brigade late last month, has been meeting members of his family and leaders of his Magarha tribe at the city’s Mahari Radisson Blu Hotel. He had an Iftar meal with them last night and then met a group of Magarha youth.

He was taken to the hotel two days ago, as were many other Qaddafi regime prisoners previously held at Hadba, including, Saadi Qaddafi and Abuzeid Dourda, the former General Secretary of the General People’s Committee (effectively prime minister) and later Qaddafi’s external intelligence chief.

Yesterday’s iftar meal was organised by Tajouri who now controls hotel and the source described the presence of Abdullah Senussi and the others at the hotel and the various meetings taking place there as “nothing more than a Haithem show”.

It is not known where they were all held after being taken from Hadba jail last month. Nor is it known if they are now to be held under house arrest at the Radisson Blu or whether this is a temporary stay to allow them to meet their families and friends. Senussi’s family are being accommodated at the hotel, a source who was there last night told the Libya Herald. Senussi also had a meal with them two nights ago, he added.

According to the source, Abdullah Senussi, Saadi and the others are certainly expected to stay at the very least for another night at the hotel.

There is a heavy security presence at the entrance and in the streets nearby.

Abdullah Senussi was sentenced to death by a Tripoli court two years ago as was Dorda along with Saif Al-Islam, Al-Baghdadi Al-Mahmoudi, Mansur Dhou, Milad Daman, Abdulhamid Ohida, Awidat Ghandoor Noubi and Mundar Mukhtar Ghanaimi.

    Otto Warmbier coming home...
[FoxNews] Otto Warmbier, the U.S. college student arrested, tried and imprisoned in North Korea for more than a year for trying to swipe a souvenir from a hotel, was expected to arrive late Tuesday in Cincinnati, his hometown, for urgent medical treatment.

A U.S. official confirmed to Fox News that Warmbier, 22, was in a coma and had been for "over a year." The official added that the North Koreans told the U.S. that Warmbier contracted botulism before slipping into a coma. However, the two U.S. doctors traveling with him have not been able to confirm that claim, the official said.

What actually happened to Warmbier and why he fell into a coma, though, may be more disturbing. The New York Times, citing an unnamed senior American official, said the U.S. had received intelligence reports in recent weeks that Warmbier had been repeatedly beaten and there were concerns in Washington that the beatings had killed him.

Warmbier has served just over a year of his 15-year sentence -- allegedly for taking down a sign of the late dictator Kim Jong Il while he was in the country with a tour group. As of Tuesday morning, Warmbier was on a U.S. military aircraft with a medical team. After a stop at an American base in Japan and then refueling in Anchorage, the flight continued to Cincinnati. Other details surrounding the dramatic events were not released.

Looking at the pictures US authorities apparently don't believe he's carrying an infectious disease as his handlers aren't protected at all.

This might be an unwise move. The Norks are watching and North Korea is in possession on biological WMD and has already used chemical WMD abroad.

’s so-called "Cubs of the Caliphate" were killed as a booby-trapped cooking pot went kaboom! in al-Mutaibija region, on borders between Salahuddin and Diyala provinces, a local source said.

Speaking to AlSumaria News on Monday, the source said, "two members of the so-called ’Cubs of the Caliphate’ were killed as a booby-trapped cooking pot went kaboom! while being transferred from one of the group’s rest houses in Mutaibija to be placed on a road."

"Several IS cubs were recently transferred from Hawija to Mutaibija to boost the group’s capabilities," the source, who preferred anonymity said. The group, according to the source, "now depends on different methods to manufacture bombs using pots and plastic bottles in different sizes."

Founded by the group, the Cubs of the Caliphate is formed of teenagers to either transfer explosives or commit suicide kabooms.
...many of them were Christian or Yezidi captives before being given this opportunity; others were the sons of unconnected Sunnis...
Occasional attacks have been witnesses in Mutaibija by Islamic State against government and paramilitary troops deployments since Iraqi forces, backed by a U.S.-led coalition and PMUs, launched a major offensive to retake areas occupied by IS since 2014, most notably the city of djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...

8 more areas in Sweden added to list of so-called 'no-go zones'
[RT] A new report from the Swedish police lists eight additional areas as being “especially vulnerable," where it is more difficult for law enforcement and other emergency services to do their job.

In 2015, the Swedish police released a report describing 53 districts throughout the country as “vulnerable," and 15 listed as “especially vulnerable." Vulnerable areas are described as having high rates of crime and poverty where police face unique challenges and have to adapt their approach. These neighborhoods may also host violent religious extremism, and locals don’t report crime to police for fear of retribution.

The new report, which has not yet been made public but was seen by journalists from the newspaper DN, adds eight more areas to the list, raising the number to 23.

These new areas are in the cities of Boras, Gothenburg, Landskrona, Malmö, Uppsala and in the capital, Stockholm.

According to Linda Staaf, head of the national police NOA's intelligence department, these areas should have been classified as “especially vulnerable” earlier, but there was not enough information on them available.

Yemeni retaliatory attack leaves four Saudi soldiers dead
[217.218.67.231] At least four Saudi soldiers have been killed when Yemeni army soldiers and fighters from allied Popular Committees launched an attack against a border crossing in Saudi Arabia’s southwestern border region of Asir as they continue their retaliatory raids against Riyadh regime’s aerial bombardment campaign.

An unnamed military source, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Arabic-language al-Masirah television network that Yemeni forces and their allies fatally shot the troopers in the al-Alab border crossing on Tuesday afternoon.

Yemeni soldiers and Popular Committees fighters also lobbed several artillery rounds at al-Makhrouq military bases in Najran region, located 844 kilometers south of the Saudi capital, Riyadh, though no reports of casualties were immediately available.

Earlier in the day, Yemeni forces had targeted Saudi army compounds north of al-Shabaka military base in the al-Sharafa region of Najran, causing casualties.

Militants claim Philippine troops have failed to regain control of besieged Marawi
[SCMP] Islamist faceless myrmidons control about 20 per cent of Marawi City in the Philippines, a top general said on Tuesday, refuting a claim by Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(IS) that its fighters were still "spread in more than two-thirds" of the town after three weeks of fighting.

Last week a military front man said the Death Eaters, who tried to seize and seal off Marawi on May 23, had been beaten back into less than 10 per cent of the Moslem-majority town on the island of Mindanao.

IS’s news agency, Amaq, said that the Philippines military had "completely failed" in a first effort to regain the city, at least 200 of its troops had died and many had fled their positions amid fierce fighting.

"Islamic State fighters are spread in more than two-thirds of Marawi and tighten the chokehold on the Philippine army that is incapable of maintaining control of the situation," it said.

Military front man Brigadier General Restituto Padilla branded the Amaq report "pure propaganda".

"Should we take their word that they control two-thirds of Marawi? With 202 confirmed forces of Evil killed why should we even give them the chance of airing their lies?" he said.

Asked to comment on how much of the lakeside town was still occupied, Lieutenant General Carlito Galvez, head of military command in Western Mindanao, said it was 20 per cent.

"Out of 96 barangays [neighbourhoods], they are holding portions in Marinaut, Lulut, Mapandi and Bongolo Commercial District, which only comprise 20 per cent of the whole Marawi City ... and its getting smaller everyday," he said.

Almost the entire population of about 200,000 fled from Marawi after the faceless myrmidons stormed it, but the military believes that beyond the checkpoints now fencing off its main roads there are still some 500-600 civilians trapped or being held hostage.

Padilla said that, as of Tuesday, the number of security forces and civilians who had died in the battle for Marawi stood at 58 and 26, respectively.

The seizure of Marawi by fighters allied to Islamic State, including some from the Middle East, has alarmed Southeast Asian nations which fear the ultra-radical group ‐ on a back foot in Iraq and Syria ‐ is trying to set up a stronghold on Mindanao that could threaten their region.

Indonesia says it was looking to set up joint patrols with the Philippines and Malaysia to prevent Islamic faceless myrmidons who have laid siege to Marawi.

Indonesia’s military chief, General Gatot Nurmantyo, said late Monday that he and Defence Minister Ryamizard Ryacudu would meet next week with their counterparts from Malaysia and the Philippines on Indonesia’s Tarakan island in northern Borneo, just across the border from Sabah, Malaysia. He said they would discuss increasing security and signing an agreement to step up joint patrols.

Nurmantyo said Indonesia needed to be aware of the movement of IS-aligned faceless myrmidons in the Philippines who assaulted Marawi because Indonesia already had sleeper sleeping cells that most likely have been long embedded in the country. He said IS-affiliated cells exist in all of Indonesia’s provinces except Papua.

Panama Papers JIT levels startling allegations against govt, seeks strict court action
[DAWN] The joint investigation team (JIT) probing allegations of money laundering against the Sharif family has made startling allegations accusing government institutions and departments of tampering records, creating obstacles in the probe and even threatening members of the six-member team.

In a damning application filed with the apex court earlier this week, a copy of which is available with Dawn.com, the JIT informed the Supreme Court about the various challenges they have been facing in concluding the investigation within the stipulated two-month timeframe.

    SECP 'tampered' record
Led by Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Additional Director General Wajid Zia, the JIT alleged in its application that Chairman Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistain (SECP) Zafarul Haq Hijazi "was instrumental in closing the investigation of money laundering case launched against Chaudhry Sugar Mills Limited", which is owned by the Sharif family, in 2016.

"This act of backdated closure of investigation... is a criminal act, with a view to facilitate the Respondents (the Sharif family) against whom the present investigation in being conducted," it said.

It said the SECP chairman's orders to tamper the record and close investigation against Chaudhry Sugar Mills Limited were executed by SECP Executive Director Ali Azeem Ikram, who was incidentally nominated initially by the chairman to be a member of the present JIT "with a clear intent to subvert the investigation of the JIT".

The application further accuses the SECP of restricting its own officers from inquiring about the requests handed to them by the JIT.

The JIT said it had asked the SECP to provide any documents pertaining to investigations carried out regarding Chaudhry Sugar Mills or any other company related to the Sharif family. However,
women are made to be loved, not understood...
an SECP officer ─ whose name is being withheld for security reasons ─ claimed that the SECP chairman did not allow him to check from all concerned departments of the SECP and confirm whether there were other inquiries against companies owned by the Sharif family.

Iraqi forces kill 23 IS militants inside Mosul’s Old City, 21 militants’ bodies found
[Iraq News] Iraqi government forces made incursions on Monday into western djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...

...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
’s last bastion in the city, an officer has said.

Cap. Adel Haider, from Nineveh police service, told BasNews that Federal Police forces invaded Bab Sinjar popular market, engaging in violent encounters with IS murderous Moslems who included jacket wallahs.

"Security forces are putting the market under a full siege.....and killed nearly 23 holy warriors, including suicide kaboomers," Haider said, adding that army warplanes backed the offensive.

The Iraqi Joint Operations Command said Sunday its forces invaded the Old City from Bab Sinjar, a northern entrance, after recapturing Zanjili district. The Old City, currently IS’s last hideout in western Mosul, was the birthplace of the Islamic State’s self-proclaimed "caliphate" when supreme leader His Supreme Immensity, Caliph of the Faithful and Galactic Overlord, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi
...formerly merely the head of ISIL and a veteran of the Bagram jailhouse. Looks like a new messiah to bajillions of Moslems, like just another dead-eyed mass murder to the rest of us...
made a sermon with the announcement in 2014.

Iraqi government forces recaptured eastern Mosul in January after three months of fighting, and launched another offensive in mid February to retake the western side of the city.

Also on Monday, DPA quoted Iraqi security sources saying that field hospitals had received the dead bodies of 21 IS murderous Moslems from several areas retaken from the murderous Moslem group. The corpses, which bore gunshot marks in the head, had been strewn at streets, the source said, adding they had probably been executed by unknown individuals.

House Democrats battle behind the scenes over impeachment
[THEHILL] The weekly meeting of House Democrats on Tuesday erupted over stark disagreements about how the party should fight President Trump.

Rep. Michael Capuano (D-Mass.), a leadership ally, stood during the Democrats’ closed-door caucus meeting to denounce Rep. Brad Sherman’s (D-Calif.) impeachment push as a selfish maneuver that could hurt fellow Democrats and candidates at home, according to a source in the room.

There must be "a discussion within the caucus -- in a public forum -- before we do something that would position our colleagues or our future colleagues," Capuano said, according to the source.

"Emotions are high. These issues have political implications and government ones."

    Rep. the mealy-mouthed Steny StinkyHoyer
... Nancy San Fran Nan Pelosi's second banana, or plaintain, or mango, or whatever he is...
(D-Md.), the minority whip, also took issue with Sherman’s tactics on Tuesday after the meeting.

"We believe strongly that a discussion about impeachment is not timely," he said.

Sherman told The Hill that he spoke with Capuano afterward to emphasize that he wasn't moving forward with a floor vote on impeachment without input from Democratic leaders and colleagues.

"I said, 'I couldn’t agree with you more. I’m not doing anything until I consult with colleagues and leadership,'" Sherman said.

#1  Right now, these are merely wet dreams of the unhinged left. They will enlist all the Donks as usual and try to peel off enough RINOS to bring about an impeachment on some B.S. charges such as Russian collusion. Either that or they will wait and try to win the House back and do the same.

Trump needs to turn this around and go on the attack. The Donks are not busy enough. He needs to go after the abundant real corruption/criminality/venality of the last administration gangsta government. If he doesn't drain the swamp it will suck him in and drown him.

Blum's wife, Senator Dianne Feinstein, has received scrutiny due to her husband's government contracts and extensive business dealings with China and her past votes on trade issues with the country. Blum has denied any wrongdoing, however.[9] Critics have argued that business contracts with the US government awarded to a company (Perini) controlled by Blum may raise a potential conflict-of-interest issue with the voting and policy activities of his wife.[10] URS Corp, which Blum had a substantial stake in, bought EG&G, a leading provider of technical services and management to the U.S. military, from The Carlyle Group in 2002; EG&G subsequently won a $600m defense contract.[1]

In 2009 it was reported that Blum's wife Sen. Dianne Feinstein introduced legislation to provide $25 billion in taxpayer money to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp, a government agency that had recently awarded her husband's real estate firm, CB Richard Ellis, what the Washington Times called "a lucrative contract to sell foreclosed properties at compensation rates higher than the industry norms."[11]

#12  The left is desperate. Over at Drudge and in WAPO, the headline reads "Mueller Probes Obstruction." So Meuller is expanding his investigation beyond the Russian collusion probe. The Russian collusion probe was based on a lie. Comey leaked information to a friend at Columbia Law School to then be leaked to the NYTs to try to set up a Special Counsel. Later, Comey met with Mueller before he testified before the Senate committee.

It would seem appropriate for Mueller to recuse himself from further investigation. It would also seem appropriate to pull the plug on this B.S. investigation fishing expedition and witch hunt. If there is a Special Counsel is established, it ought to be to investigate all the Machiavellian back-biting that is going on to undermine Trump. Another ought to be set up to investigate Obama/the Clintons'/Soros criminality.

'General Sam,' Who Helped Create Delta Force, Dies at 93
[Mil.com] RICE, Va. -- Retired Lt. Gen. Samuel Wilson, who had a long military and intelligence career and was president of Hampden-Sydney College from 1992 to 2000, has died, the college announced. He was 93.

Wilson, who was known as "General Sam," died Saturday at his home in Rice, Virginia.

Wilson served as director of the Defense Intelligence Agency, and was known for coining the term "counter-insurgency" as well as for helping to create Delta Force, the U.S. Army's special forces group.

Long before that, he joined the Army as a 16-year-old private in 1940. He taught guerrilla and counter-guerrilla tactics at the Infantry School at Fort Benning in Georgia in 1942 and 1943. He became a first lieutenant at the age of 19 and was chief reconnaissance officer for a unit known as Merrill's Marauders, which operated behind enemy lines in Burma during World War II.

At the end of the war, he was assigned to the Office of Strategic Services, which was the forerunner of the Central Intelligence Agency, in Southeast Asia. He later worked as a CIA officer in West Berlin and a defense attache at the U.S. Embassy in Moscow during the Cold War.

Wilson retired from the Army in 1977 and became a political science professor at Hampden-Sydney while continuing to consult with officials in Washington.

Hampden-Sydney President Larry Stimpert says Wilson steered the college through a difficult period when enrollment growth slowed and the college considered whether to allow women. The governing board ultimately decided to keep college all-male, and under Wilson's leadership, enrollment growth resumed and the endowment nearly doubled. Hampden-Sydney remains one of the nation's few remaining private colleges for men.

Benghazi’s iconic Tahrir Square taken by LNA as Suq Al-Hout hit by airstrikes
[Libya Herald] Benghazi’s iconic Tahrir Square and the courthouse that faces it, from where the Revolution was launched on 17 February 2011, was today taken from forces of Evil by the Libyan National Army (LNA).

Troops are moving further into Suq Al Hout, the penultimate enclave held by Islamist fighters. Air strikes have continued throughout the day. it is reported that al-Zawia al-Rifaiya had been taken and there have been intermittent festivities in the Municipal Square. One army source predicted the district would fall shortly.

LNA casualties in this operation have been notably light when compared with the dead and injured among the forces that assaulted Ganfouda and finally took the 12 Apartments a month after declaring victory in the rest of the district.

Today a soldier was killed and two companions injured when a device, thought to be a land mine, went kaboom! as they searched the former internal security headquarters which the LNA overran yesterday. Troops have been ordered out of the building until it has been cleared by engineering units.

A shell apparently fired from Sabri, landed close to the Jalaa hospital but failed to explode. The hospital is the main reception centre for LNA maimed. There are still no details of Lion of Islam casualties and prisoners. The Suq al-Hout operation has been notable for the limited number of social media messages posted by soldiers.

Protester hit a police horse with a flagpole that had a nail sticking out
[MIAMIHERALD] A Pennsylvania woman is facing multiple criminal charges for resisting arrest and assaulting a police horse after a protest and counter-protest at the state capitol in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, became heated.

According to Harrisburg police, two people were tossed in the clink
Keep yer hands where we can see 'em, if yez please!
at Saturday’s demonstration, which was aimed at protesting Sharia, Islamic law, and was part of a nationwide network of protests organized by ACT for America, the News Agency that Dare Not be Named reports.

One of those arrested was Lisa Joy Simon, 23, PennLive.com reports. Simon, from Philadelphia, was one of several people at the event observed carrying weapons, including sharpened bamboo poles and baseball bats, according to PennLive.

According to police reports, a state police corporal mounted on a police horse, Sampson, was trying to move the crowd from the protest onto the sidewalk when Simon hit Sampson with a flagpole that had a half-inch silver nail sticking out of the top, per the Philly Voice.

Police officers then attempted to arrest Simon, who resisted. Photos from PennLive show that she had to be tackled to the ground.

According to court records, Simon now faces five charges: aggravated assault, causing trauma to police animals, using an offensive weapon, obstructing coppers from performing their duties, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.

It is unclear if Simon was part of the original anti-Sharia protest or the counter-protest against it. The police report about the arrest notes that protesters from the anti-Sharia rally were moving away from the capitol steps, where they had been standing, and that coppers were attempting to keep the protesters off the street. However,
death is not the end. There remains the litigation over the estate...
the News Agency that Dare Not be Named reported that the two arrests of the day took place in the area of the counter-demonstration.
Photo at link. Since the scowling little missy has her head shaved, I'm guessing she was part of the lefty group.
According to police, both Sampson and the officer riding him suffered minimal injuries and were able to continue working. Simon, meanwhile, is being held on $100,000 bail.

Int’l naval coalition step up fight against Somali Pirates
[SHABELLENEWS] An international naval coalition is stepping up its presence in the Bab Al Mandeb strait in response to attacks on vessels passing the coast of Somalia.

The strait, which connects the Red Sea to the Gulf of Aden, is a key passage for world trade.

"Recent attacks against merchant shipping in the Gulf of Aden and Bab Al Mandeb have highlighted that there are still risks associated with transits through these waters," the Combined Maritime Forces said on Monday.

"In response to these threats, the Combined Maritime Forces will be increasing the naval presence" in the western part of the Gulf of Aden, it said.

The 31-state naval alliance, based in Bahrain and led by the United States, oversees security in some international waters including the Gulf of Aden.

A small boat went kaboom! late last month "for an unknown reason" in a thwarted attack on a tanker in the area, the alliance said.

More than 1200 IS militants killed in western Mosul since February
[Iraq News] More than 1200 Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
bad boys, including snipers and leaders, have been killed since launch of offensives in western djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
    , Federal Police declared.

In a statement on Tuesday, Lt.Gen. Shaker Jawdat said 27 leaders and 214 snipers were killed, while 300 square kilometers were retaken since operations began in western side of Mosul.

Federal Police troops, according to Jawdat, killed more than 1000 bad boys, destroyed 865 booby-trapped vehicles and defused 780 landmines since February.

He indicated progress by the troops in al-Shifa district, north of the Old City, trying to reach to the Tigris River bank.

Earlier on Tuesday, Iraqi troops reported progress and announced recapturing of al-Zanjili district, located north of the Old City, which is home to the Grand Nuri al-Kabeer mosque, from which IS Supreme Leader His Supreme Immensity, Caliph of the Faithful and Galactic Overlord, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi

Less than 1000 fighters are believed to be remaining in the Old City, according to commanders from the Iraqi leadership and the allied U.S.-led coalition.

Iran accuses Saudis of supporting terrorist groups
[Al Jazeera] Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has accused Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. of Iraq and the Levant (ISIS, also known as ISIS) group claimed attacks in Tehran.

"We have intelligence that Saudi Arabia is actively engaged in promoting terrorist groups operating on the eastern side of Iran in Baluchestan," Zarif said on Tuesday at a news conference on the sidelines of an annual peace mediation in Oslo.

He said the gangs were "using the territory of one of our neighbours against its will to launch attacks against Iran which only two months ago led to the murder of nine Iranian border guards," refering to Pakistain.

"On the Western side the same type of activity is being undertaken, again by using the diplomatic hospitality of other neighbours," Zarif said.

    Call for a regional forum

Zarif also called for establishment of a regional forum to resolve differences, which has become more necessary after tensions between Qatar

Sex in Space: The Final Frontier for Mars Colonization?
[Space.com] If humanity is serious about colonizing Mars, we need to get busy studying how to get busy in space.

We just don't know enough about how human reproduction and development work in the final frontier to confidently plan out permanent, sustainable settlements on the Red Planet or anywhere else away from Earth, said Kris Lehnhardt, an assistant professor in the department of emergency medicine at The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences.

"This is something that we, frankly, have never studied dramatically, because it's not been relevant to date," Lehnhardt said May 16 during a panel discussion at "On the Launchpad: Return to Deep Space," a webcast event in Washington, D.C., organized by The Atlantic magazine. [The Human Body in Space: 6 Weird Facts]

"But if we want to become a spacefaring species and we want to live in space permanently, this is a crucial issue that we have to address that just has not been fully studied yet," he added.

Off-Earth reproduction isn't a completely ignored topic, of course. Just last month, for example, a group of researchers in Japan announced that freeze-dried mouse sperm that was stored on the International Space Station for nine months gave rise to healthy pups.

Those results suggest that the relatively high levels of radiation experienced in space don't pose an insurmountable barrier to reproduction.

But the mouse sperm was brought back to Earth to produce embryos, which grew here on terra firma. How a human embryo would fare when away from Earth -- in the microgravity environment of orbit or deep space, or on Mars, whose surface gravity is just 38 percent as strong as that of our planet -- remains a mystery, Lehnhardt said.

#2  No matter what position the dirty deed occurs in the sperm seem to find their way to the destination. That suggest to me gravity has little to do with it and all would work well in microgravity as long as they were careful not to, ahem, thrust so hard the couple was separated.

The real issues are (1) What happens to a fetus in microgravity, while in the womb is muscle growth in any way connected to gravity resistance (probably not) (2) Are we ready to accept having children that could probably never return to Earth, because if they grow up in space their muscles are going to be flaccid.

    Israel-Palestine-Jordan
The Siege of Gaza: PA slashes medical funds, Egypt offers trade
With Gaza ailing, PA accused of slashing medical aid by nearly 90%

[IsraelTimes] Officials say Ramallah has reduced the money it gives for healthcare from $4 million to $500,000, leaving patients without medicine and equipment. As power is cut, it will only get worse.

According to information given to Physicians for Human Rights (PHRI) Israel by Gazoo’s Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood,-run health ministry, "one-third of essential medicines and more than 270 medical equipment items for operating rooms and intensive care units can no longer be obtained in the Health Ministry’s storerooms and in Gazoo hospitals."

The organization said the cause of the shortages is the Paleostinian Authority’s slashing of funds sent to Gazoo, including for healthcare operations and medical supplies.

The PA, according to information given to PHRI, used to pay $4 million monthly for the regular operations of 13 government hospitals and 54 primary care centers. In April it was down to $2.3 million, and in May it fell to just $500,000, the organization said.

In April, the Israeli daily Haaretz quoted a senior adviser to PA President the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas
... a graduate of the prestigious unaccredited Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow with a doctorate in Holocaust Denial...
who said Ramallah is slashing the health care budget for Gazoo as part of the series of measures meant to coerce Hamas to relinquish some control of the Strip and give it back to the PA.
The PA is in the enviable position of running a siege using Israeli and Egyptian forces.
Egypt said to offer Hamas electricity in exchange for 17 wanted men

[IsraelTimes] With the terrorist leaders of Gazoo in a political vise in the Strip, Cairo reportedly believes it has more leverage.

Egypt offered Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, more freedom at its border and much-needed electricity amid a severe power shortage, in exchange for the terror group agreeing to a list of security demands, Arab media reported Tuesday.

The list of includes a demand that Hamas hand over 17 men wanted by Cairo on terrorism charges, more protection by Hamas at the border, the cessation of weapons smuggling into the Sinai, and information on the movement of forces of Evil into Gazoo via underground tunnels, the London-based Arabic daily Asharq al-Awsat reported.

The list was given to Hamas’s Gazoo chief Yahya Sinwar by Egyptian security officials during his nine-day trip to Cairo that ended on Monday.

    However,
there's no worse danger than telling a mother her baby is ugly...
it is not clear how much Egypt can do to stem Gazoo’s power crisis. Egyptian power lines, when they work, provided 25 megawatts -- just 6.25% of the amount necessary to power Gazoo for a full day.

    However,
there's no worse danger than telling a mother her baby is ugly...
according to the Israel Defense Forces, the Egyptian power lines have not been providing any power lately due to malfunctions, and Israeli power lines have become Gazoo’s sole power source. Gazoo has one power plant, but it stopped working in April after Hamas ran out of fuel and refused to purchase more from the PA over what it said were unfairly high taxes.

On Monday the Egyptian power company, according to Paleostinian media reports, informed the Gazoo power company it was disconnecting its cables. It’s not clear whether it was for repairs.

    The Grand Turk
Turkey: UAE paid $3bn to finance coup attempt
[217.218.67.231] The United Arab Emirates financed a high-profile coup attempt last year in The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
and paid about three billion dollars to the putschists, a columnist in a Turkish daily has claimed.

Mehmet Acet, a columnist for Yeni Safak daily, said on Tuesday that Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu meant the United Arab Emirates when he recently hinted at a Moslem country that spent billions to topple the Turkish government in the coup in July 2016.

Cavusoglu said in recent remarks that a foreign country funneled money to the putschists while making efforts to topple President Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him...
"We know that a country provided $3 billion in financial support for the coup attempt in Turkey and exerted efforts to topple the government in illegal ways. On top of that, it is a Moslem country," said the Turkish foreign minister, as quoted by Acet.

Acet elaborated on his claims in an interview to the Turkish media, saying sources in the Turkish Foreign Ministry had confirmed that the country behind the coup was indeed the United Arab Emirates.

"The minister did not name the country. However,
some men learn by reading. A few learn by observation. The rest have to pee on the electric fence for themselves...
sources from the foreign ministry have confirmed that it was the UAE," Acet told Daily Sabah newspaper.

Other sources have also claimed that a media magnet close to the government in Abu Dhabi had indeed transferred money to Turkey weeks before the coup was carried out. They said the money had been funneled to elements loyal to Fethullah Gulen
... a Turkish preacher living in Pennsylvania whom the current govt of Turkey considers responsible for all the ills afflicting Turkey and possibly the entire world...
, a holy man based in the United States who is accused by Ankara of criminal masterminding the coup attempt.
