Low-income families spend 40% of their your money on luxuries
[Market Watch] It turns out that all Americans, regardless of income, spend a large percentage of their income on luxuries.

People who make the most money spend the biggest chunk of their incomes on luxury goods, but even the poorest households spend a significant amount for luxuries, according to an analysis released this week by Deutsche Bank Research.

The wealthiest families (the top fifth of earners) spend around 65% of their incomes on luxury goods and 35% on necessities, according to the study, which looked at spending habits between 1984 and 2014. Middle-income households weren’t far behind: They spend 50% on luxuries and 50% on necessities.

Even the lowest income families (the bottom fifth of earners) spend 40% on luxuries and 60% on necessities, according to the study’s author, Torsten Slok, chief international economist for Deutsche Bank Securities.

#1  Pretty stupid definition of "Luxuries", which are essentially whatever you spend the greater proportion of your income on. Them defining as axiomatic the conclusion they wanted to obtain, and (lo and behold!) its true!!!

#2  So the fact that are culture has cheap basic survival necessities means that we are wasting money on luxuries...

#3  1. We have redefined "poverty" in this country. Poor people have cable TV, cars, microwave ovens, AC, laptops, etc. They aren't starving, but have weight problems.

2. Spending on "luxuries" is actually very common among the poor, and is often part of why they are poor. It is the rich who are accustomed to sacrifice and delayed gratification.

#8  M. Murcek, next time, try putting a desription in between the >< in the link. That's a functionality the URL doodad is missing.

Example:{a href="http://Linky.linky.link"}{/a}

If you note, the part right after 'link">' should have a descriptor to describe the link as in the following: {a href="http://Linky.linky.link"}descripton of linky link{/a} which will end up looking like this with a working link: "descripton of linky link"

(Note I replaced the '< and > with { and }' in the above example so the full example will how up here.)

Hope this helps.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Florida teens go door-to-door collecting for dental work and Mother's Day
[Breitbart] Six Florida teenagers were arrested and accused of stealing an expensive Porsche automobile, $200,000 in cash, and two handguns, then blowing the money on gold teeth and expensive gifts for their mothers.

The suspects, between the ages of 14 and 16, stand accused of robbing the North Hutchinson Island, Florida, home of Brett Browning on April 27, according to the Daily Mail.

The robbery victim told police his 2014 Porsche Cayman‐valued at up to $60,000‐was missing, as well as $200,000 he had hidden in his home. The thieves also stole a 380-caliber Ruger pistol and a revolver.

The stolen Porsche was discovered near the home of one of the teens, and police reported that all six of the suspects left fingerprint evidence inside the car.

Multicultural dating awareness lesson goes dreadfully wrong
[NY Post] Two Florida men wanted in connection with a rape told a woman they wanted to "teach her a lesson" about dating black men, officials said.

Justin Akeen Fedrick, 27, and Keon Dellshai Gordon, 26, are accused of kidnapping and sexually battering a woman on June 22 at a Clermont home, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

Police said the victim was "hanging out" when a third suspect, Rodney Cooper, 32, forced her into a room and locked the door. Cooper kept guard while Fedrick and Gordon allegedly attacked her.

The woman said that they told her, "We’re going to teach you a lesson about dating a black man and white [women] don’t mean [expletive] in this town."

When the alleged attack was over, they told her that they would "make it ten times worse next time" if she filed a police report.

The woman was able to escape from the home and her boyfriend contacted police after receiving a text that she was "bleeding and limping."

Authorities tracked down Cooper the next day and charged him with kidnapping. He was taken into custody at Lake County Jail, where he is being held on $50,000 bond, according to court records.

Arrest warrants have been issued for the arrests of Fedrick and Gordon, both of whom are considered dangerous.

Busted by NYPD: Saddam Mohamed Raishani attempted to pose as humanitarian to join ISIS
[NY Post] A Bronx home health aide was arrested at JFK airport Wednesday night for plotting to "pose as a nurse" on a humanitarian mission in order to travel to Syria and join terrorist group ISIS, the feds have said.

Saddam Mohamed "Adam" Raishani was charged by Manhattan federal prosecutors with one count of attempting to provide material support to a terrorist organization. He faces up to 20 years in prison.

Prosecutors said Raishani, 30, has spent months plotting alongside an undercover NYC police officer and an undercover FBI, who he believed were trying to help him get to Syria to join ISIS.

At one point, Raishani told the undercover cop, who he believed also wanted to join ISIS, that he would pose as a nurse if the cop posed as a refugee aid worker so that they could cross international borders without drawing suspicion from the authorities, the feds said.

Europe
Why the European Union Is Failing
[American Thinker] What will the future of the European Union be? Bruce Thornton projects a solution to their future that lies in the EU showing greater respect for the diversity of cultures of its member states. He states,

"The challenge facing Europe today is not just reforming its economies or crafting saner immigration policies. It is whether the EU leadership can allow a greater recognition of and respect for the member nations’ distinct identities and sovereignty...."

In short, there needs to be a better balance between the EU continental/globalist aspirations and the national identities and aspirations of the member states.

To some degree we can see the EU as using the USA as a model of federalism. Just as our states came together to form a "more perfect union," the European member states, beginning with the Treaty of Rome in 1954, have worked step-by-step to build a common economy and other areas of integrated policy and action. The parts of Europe coordinated to form the whole known as the European Union, just as the thirteen original colonies coalesced in a spirit of unity to form our national entity.

Yet, the net result to this point was not to create a European government per se, although that may well be on the horizon, but to create a bureaucratic network of rules and regulations, a common currency (the Euro), and joint rapid reaction forces (separate from NATO). These rapid reaction forces are subordinate to the European Union Military Staff, and complement other EU military forces. The existence of a military program managed by the EU often comes as a surprise to those who think of the EU as a purely economic arrangement.

#7  Why is the EU failing? The great majority of citizens do not want to reproduce, live for today, and do not value their culture and history. They are being out bred by muslims from the ME and south Med, who want the bennies, but do not contribute to the European culture. So it is an invasion by people who do not give a rat's behind about European values, other than what they can grab in material goods.

I am a Muslim, and I support Trump's travel restrictions
Moved to Page 4

[American Thinker] The mainstream media and many others have been grilling President Trump since he signed the Executive Order temporally halting the population of seven predominantly Muslim states from entering the USA. As a result, he has been called everything from "racist" to "Islamophobic."

As a Jordanian Muslim who also holds a British citizenship, I am not offended by the President’s actions, nor am I convinced that the Executive Orders in question were specifically written to target Muslims, for the following reasons:

First, the Executive Order singled out seven specific countries out of 56 Muslim states.

Second, the President did not pick these countries randomly, because six of the seven states have one thing in common: they are failed states, and they do not have a unified and recognized state system for processing of nationalities, passports, and state documents. In other words, the country’s citizens can receive any number of passports they like, complete with fake or multiple names. That means a terrorist can simply make up a name, obtain a passport and visa, and head to the U.S.

Third, there are numerous examples of terrorists using nefarious means to reach America’s shores ‐ from the ISIS Passport Printing Press to clearly identified individuals. Take terrorist Anawr al-Awlaki, a dual national of both the U.S. and Yemen. It’s documented that in the early 90s, he was issued a passport using a different name, thus helping him establish a whole new, secret identity. He then used that identity to enter the U.S. on a Fulbright scholarship for foreign students. After obtaining a college degree at taxpayers’ money as a "foreign student", he went back to Yemen and actively supported, promoted, and financed terrorist acts against America.

Fourth, the President knows these facts, and this is a sign that he is listening to his advisors and is absorbing intelligence information accurately and quickly.

Next, its quite clear that the President did what his patriotic duty and position require him to do: protect Americans from harm

With that said, if the President did want to ban a specific group of people, what would it look like, especially in a Middle Eastern country?

The two best examples I can give you are found in the Middle East. The first example is how Arab countries treat their Palestinian and Jordanian brethren, simply denying them documentation, freedom of movement, and banning their entry into their countries for the most frivolous of reasons. This is similar in nature to the second, how most Arab countries ban Israeli Jews from entering their countries, while allowing Israeli Arabs to come and go. A prime example of this is found in Jordan.

To me, that is real racism and religious discrimination, and in all honesty, comparing the President’s Executive Orders to what those Arab countries do is hard for me to swallow because of how easily they violate human rights, point fingers at others and clearly support true apartheid.

With those reasons in mind, President Trump did right thing, protecting the American way of life while being the first politician in generations to take the initial steps to keep his campaign promises. This is what I -- as a Muslim, Palestinian and Jordanian -- call a great President who’s is making America great again.

Berniegate: How Jane Sanders Offers a Window into Liberal Scheming
[American Thinker] "The road to hell is paved with good intentions," goes the line so often used to describe hare-brained liberal schemes. That vintage phrase captures perfectly the quagmire in which Bernie and Jane Sanders find themselves rapidly sinking in the saga of Burlington College. But the tale provides so much more than affirming that age-old aphorism. It offers a microcosmic view into the mind and methodology of liberal policymakers everywhere.

In short, the scheme concocted by the former Democratic Socialist presidential candidate's wife, Jane Sanders, when she was president of Burlington College serves up everything we've come to expect of modern Democrats: delusional visions of glorious benefits to be realized by the masses if we follow their screwball ideas; a shady real estate deal; phony and fraudulent claims used as the basis for getting other people to part with their money; alleged pressure from a powerful Democratic politician on a government-regulated institution to go along with their idea, or else; and, of course, no modern Democratic scandal is complete without a computer server potentially figuring in ‐ in this case, a stolen one. The only thing missing is the sex. But the investigation is still young.

Anyway, here's the backstory. The board of a tiny New England college in Vermont, Burlington College, in the town where Bernie Sanders used to be mayor before he rose to lofty heights in the Senate and then the socialist precincts of the national Democratic Party, had the notion of hiring Bernie's wife to be their esteemed college's new president in 2004. What qualified her for the job? Who knows, but I'm sure being married to the then-U.S. congressman from Vermont and the town's former mayor didn't hurt. The mayoralty, by the way, was Bernie's first steady job. Before that, he literally couldn't feed his family.

Former Israeli PM Olmert, 71, wins early release from prison
[Reuters] Former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, who is serving a 27-month prison term for corruption, won parole on Thursday, one of his lawyers said.

Israel Radio reported that Olmert could be freed as early as Sunday after a parole board decided to cut his sentence by a third, a common practice in Israel for prisoners who have not committed violent crimes.

But the release might be delayed if prosecutors decide to file an appeal, Shani Eluz, an attorney for Olmert, told reporters.

"He was very excited. He was very happy," Eli Zohar, another Olmert attorney, said of the parole decision. "He hopes very much the prosecution service will not ask to delay his release."

Olmert was found guilty in 2014 of accepting bribes from real estate developers when he was Jerusalem's mayor, before his 2006-09 term as prime minister and head of a centrist political party.

China Turns Big Data into Big Brother - Biometric Database
[MIT Review] It was a drab, chill day in November, and the clocks were striking thirteen. As the woman passed through Hangzhou Railway Station, she moved quickly through the ticket gates--though not quickly enough to avoid detection by the transport authority, which noticed her failure to swipe the correct transit pass. It was too late. She had received a black mark on government records that would make it harder than ever for her to travel in the future.

That’s a reimagining of the introduction to George Orwell’s dystopian novel Nineteen Eighty-Four. But it’s also set to become a reality for citizens of China if the government’s dream of an authoritarian big-data scheme comes to fruition.

The Wall Street Journal reports that the Chinese government is now testing systems that will be used to create digital records of citizens’ social and financial behavior. In turn, these will be used to create a so-called social credit score, which will determine whether individuals have access to services, from travel and education to loans and insurance cover. Some citizens--such as lawyers and journalists--will be more closely monitored.

Planning documents apparently describe the system as being created to "allow the trustworthy to roam everywhere under heaven while making it hard for the discredited to take a single step." The Journal claims that the system will at first log "infractions such as fare cheating, jaywalking and violating family-planning rules" but will be expanded in the future--potentially even to Internet activity.

Some aspects of the system are already in testing, but there are some challenges to implementing such a far-reaching apparatus. It’s difficult to centralize all that data, check it for accuracy, and process it, for example--let alone feed it back into the system to control everyday life. And China has data from 1.4 billion people to handle.

Iranian Flag Joins Array of Enemy Symbols Planted on Israel's Lebanon Border
[Jerusalem Post] Living with the Iranian threat is not a new phenomenon, but it is an increasingly complex one because of the Syrian civil war. Iran is reaching a peak of influence and power in the region.

Meters from the fence that separates the countries, not far from the site of a 1985 terrorist attack, Hezbollah has festooned the roads with signs of its presence. It’s purposely done so Israeli residents can see the flags and the billboards next to them. In Metulla there is a memorial for the 12 Israeli soldiers killed in the March 10, 1985, suicide bombing, while just across the border a huge billboard celebrates the massacre.

I spent Tuesday touring the Lebanese and Syrian borders to see the tense situation in the north of the country. The flags across the border seemed representative of the situation that prevails today. Next to the Hezbollah flags is a small post that has a UN logo. Near it the Amal Shia Lebanese movement has erected a large banner reading "To he of pure hands and a generous soul, thank you Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri."

Soetoro-appointed judges dismiss Supreme Court ruling, continue blocking Trump's immigration crackdown
[Wash Times] President Trump may have won a partial victory at the Supreme Court this week, but other federal judges remain major stumbling blocks to his aggressive immigration plans, with courts from California to Michigan and Atlanta limiting his crackdown on sanctuary cities and stopping him from deporting illegal immigrants he has targeted for removal.

The judges in those deportation cases have rejected Mr. Trump’s argument that he has wide latitude to decide who gets kicked out, without having to worry about district courts second-guessing him on facts of the case.

Instead, the judges said, they get to decide their jurisdiction, and that extends to reviewing Mr. Trump’s immigration policy.

One judge in Michigan ordered the Homeland Security Department to freeze all deportation plans for about 200 Chaldean Christians arrested over the past two months and scheduled to be sent back to Iraq. Nearly every one of them has a criminal record.

A judge in Atlanta ordered the department to reinstate the temporary deportation amnesty -- known in governmentspeak as the DACA program -- for Jessica Colotl, an illegal immigrant Dreamer whose past made her a target for deportation, officials said.

VDH: The Progressive Boomerang
[TownHall] The progressive strategy of investigating President Donald Trump nonstop for Russian collusion or obstruction of justice or witness tampering so far has produced no substantial evidence of wrongdoing.

The alternate strategy of derailing the new administration before it really gets started hasn't succeeded either, despite serial efforts to sue over election results, alter the Electoral College vote, boycott the inauguration, delay the confirmation of appointments, demand recusals, promise Trump's impeachment or removal through the 25th Amendment, and file suit under the Emoluments Clause.

A third strategy of portraying Trump as a veritable monster likewise so far has failed in four special elections for House seats.

Apparently progressives have accepted the idea that Barack Obama's formula of twice winning the Electoral College is not yet transferrable to other progressive candidates such as Hillary Clinton. And they probably have concluded that Obama's progressive political agenda proved unpopular with voters by 2010 and had to be implemented by ad hoc executive orders -- presidential prerogatives now utilized by Donald Trump to overturn the ones Obama issued.

A fourth potential pathway to power would be a return to Bill Clinton's pragmatic agendas of the 1990s. But apparently progressives find that centrist remedy worse than the malady of losing elections -- given that during the Obama tenure, more than 1,000 state and local offices were lost to Republicans, in addition to majorities in the House and Senate, and a majority of governorships and legislatures.

What next?

Alternative vision? You mean like open borders, unrestricted immigration from the Middle East, constant meddling in the Middle East, rust belt unemployment, trillion dollar stimuli, single payer, Planned Parenthood subsidies? That kind of vision? I don't think that's gonna work anymore either.

Sen. McCaskill Paid for Dinner at Russian Ambassador's Residence With Funds From Undisclosed Foundation
[TownHall] Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill (Mo.) used a personal foundation to pay for a dinner she attended at Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak's Washington, D.C., residence. The senator had failed to disclose her role in the foundation until earlier this month. McCaskill's attendance at the dinner was accompanied by an $873 payment to the American-Russian Cultural Cooperation Foundation, where Kislyak serves on its board of directors as honorary chairman...The payment to Kislyak's foundation was not made directly by McCaskill--it was made through a foundation, the Shepard Family Foundation, that she set up with her husband Jon Shepard in 2013 but failed to disclose in filings to the Senate ethics committee until three weeks ago. The sudden disclosure of McCaskill's role in the foundation--which had to be inserted into disclosures covering 2014, 2015, and 2016 through amendments on June 6--came as part of an attempt to distance herself from investments in an opioid manufacturer.

CNN's Cuomo Says President Trump Wants To Make The Media ‘An Enemy Of The State' [VIDEO]
[Daily Caller] CNN "New Day" host Chris Cuomo said Wednesday President Donald Trump is at war with the media and out to make reporters "an enemy of the state."

"At the end of the day we have been here before my brothers," said Cuomo.

"This is a de facto declaration of making the media an enemy of the state, that is what this effort winds up amounting to," he said. "It’s not just Cillizza, it’s not just Cuomo, it’s not just one story. It’s all of them all the time, they’re all fake. Don’t trust them, [reporters] only trust us [The White House]."

CNN politics reporter Chris Cillizza said Trump is fixated on the media because it’s what helped him rise to power.

"Almost every morning particularly yesterday and this morning it’s about the media," said Cillizza."It’s about the fake news media. That’s what he cares about that. That’s what animates him. That’s is at the fundamental core of why the guy ran for president."

He added reporters have to adapt and change their style of covering the White House, but fellow panelist and executive editor of The Sentinel Newspapers, Brian Karem, disagreed.

#8  CNN "New Day" host Chris Cuomo said Wednesday President Donald Trump is at war with the media and out to make reporters "an enemy of the state."

There are many things wrong with this statement:

1. CNN discredited itself with fake news to besmirch a POTUS who they can't accept; HRC, in their view, was supposed to be the inevitable coronated queen.
2. The CNN have an over-inflated view of who they are and what they do. They are hacks who shill for the Democratic Party and anything left. Some call it propaganda. Propaganda often has a germ of truth to it albeit distorted and inflated. What they do is just scurrilous faked news. See "fake dossier" for an example.
3. CNN does not deserve to have the protections of the 1st Amendment as they don't practice anything that resembles a "free press" unless by "free" it means free to publish anything that is misleading, scatological and libelous.

Australian Police Charge Vatican Cardinal with Sechs Offenses
SYDNEY (AP) -- Australian police charged a top Vatican cardinal on Thursday with multiple counts of "historical" sexual assault offenses, a stunning decision certain to rock the highest levels of the Holy See.

Cardinal George Pell, Pope Francis' chief financial adviser and Australia's most senior Catholic, is the highest-ranking Vatican official to ever be charged in the church's long-running sexual abuse scandal. Pell said he would return to Australia to fight the charges.

Victoria state Police Deputy Commissioner Shane Patton said police have summonsed Pell to appear in an Australian court to face multiple charges of "historical sexual assault offenses," meaning offenses that generally occurred some time ago. Patton said there are multiple complainants against Pell, but gave no other details on the allegations against the cardinal. Pell was ordered to appear in Melbourne Magistrates Court on July 18.

For years, Pell has faced allegations that he mishandled cases of clergy abuse when he was archbishop of Melbourne and, later, Sydney. But more recently, Pell himself became the focus of a clergy sex abuse investigation, with Victoria detectives flying to the Vatican last year to interview the cardinal. It is unclear what allegations the charges announced Thursday relate to, but two men, now in their 40s, have said that Pell touched them inappropriately at a swimming pool in the late 1970s, when Pell was a senior priest in Melbourne.

Newt Gingrich: CNN Should Bring in Independent Counsel to Investigate Fake News Scandal
[Breitbart] Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich said on Tuesday that CNN should consider bringing in an independent counsel to investigate the company as a whole amid a fake news scandal in which they retracted a hit piece pertaining to President Donald Trump.

"They should appoint an outside analyst, somebody of impeccable authority like Michael Mukasey, who used to be Attorney General of the United States, to view everything of CNN and basically reset it," he told Fox and Friends in an interview. Gingrich continued:
You cannot get to a believable network while Zucker is there. He clearly made a gamble last year to be the leading anti-Trump network, he’s clearly done things that are absurdly wrong. I like lots of the people at CNN, I worked with them for a while. There are some very very good people at CNN, they have a very long tradition of being good journalists. But the culture of the overall system right now is very toxic.

Gingrich’s comments come after the network retracted a story alleging links between former Trump transition team member Anthony Scaramucci and the Russian Direct Investment Fund -- an incident that has since led to the resignation of three CNN employees.

Furthermore, footage obtained by investigative journalist James O’Keefe’s Project Veritas showed a senior CNN producer admitting that the network’s relentless coverage of President Donald Trump over alleged links to Russia was "mostly bullsh*t."

On Tuesday, Deputy Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders described the network as "a disgrace to journalism."

‘Team JIHAD' Chronicles Hard Left Alliance with Radical Islam (Video)
(Washington, DC): The unlikely alliance between Islam and the left isn’t on the media’s radar screen, yet the chaos on our streets and campuses is obvious and disturbing. The ever-more frequent jihad attacks, both at home and abroad, even more so. But the swirl of images flitting across our screens can be difficult to understand: protesters are carrying all kinds of signs, hurling abuse at our new president, and at those who would speak in defense of America and its free institutions… Black Lives Matter activists spew hatred for law enforcement, but are funded by wealthy establishment leftists. Muslim terrorists screaming ‘Allahu Akbar’ are murdering innocent, men, women and children—in the name of the ‘religion of peace.’ Too much of it doesn’t seem to make sense. How can the jihadist Muslim Brotherhood, Black Lives Matter movement, and social Marxist anarchist leftists all be part of the same street scene?

To help explain this unlikely but very real alliance, Matthew Vadum, Senior Vice President at the Washington, D.C. think tank, Capital Research Center and an award-winning journalist, has authored an important new book for the Center for Security Policy’s Civilization Jihad Readers Series entitled “Team Jihad: How Sharia-Supremacists Collaborate with Leftists to Destroy the United States.” Vadum, already widely published on issues related to leftist infiltration and subversion within American society, here marshals a wealth of historical detail to document how and when the forces of Islam and the left first began to make common cause and how far they’ve come in the years since.

With a new president in the White House, the United States seems headed for changes on many fronts. None is more important to understand than the deeply anti-American working relationship among seemingly disparate forces like these that are united in their dedication to the overthrow of the U.S. Constitution and our system of law and order. Neglect, benign and otherwise, has allowed this unholy alliance of jihadists, street thugs, and cultural Marxists to advance unchecked throughout our society for far too long.

With this monograph, Matt Vadum offers the average citizen a clear and very readable explanation for what we all see happening around us.

Key quote from article:

Historian E. H. Carr emphasized the Comintern's "uncompromising" promotion of the notion of revolution combined with its willingness to compromise with Muslim traditions:

"Muslim beliefs and institutions were treated with veiled respect, and the cause of world revolution narrowed down to specific and more manageable dimenstions. The Muslim tradition of jihad, or holy war against the infidel, was harnessed to a modern crusade of oppressed peoples against the imperialist oppressors, with Britain as the main target."

Syrian Kurds send military reinforcements to Aleppo to impede Turkish advance
[ARA News] The Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) and allied factions of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have brought military reinforcements to the northern countryside of Aleppo province to impede the Turkish progress towards Afrin district, military sources reported on Wednesday.

"The YPG and SDF today deployed more forces and armoured vehicles in northern Aleppo," a YPG officer told ARA News.

"The Kurdish people in Afrin region have suffered a lot under heavy bombardment by The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
and allied Islamists," the officer said.

The Kurdish People’s Protection Units continue to fight against Turkey-backed groups south of Azaz and in the Afrin district in Aleppo province.

"We will respond to any Turkish attacks on Rojava-Northern Syria. The Turkish troops and Turkey-backed Islamists will be a main target for our forces in the area," the Kurdish officer told ARA News.

The step comes after the Turkish authorities increased its military presence in northwestern Syria, sending troops, vehicles and equipment to support its operations against Kurdish-held areas.

The Turkish move came despite US warnings about any actions that may hinder the Kurdish-led fight against ISIS in northern Syria.

The YPG is leading the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the war on ISIS. The SDF is currently engaged in heavy festivities with ISIS murderous Moslems in Raqqa city‐the group’s de facto capital in Syria.

Turkey launched an offensive in northern Syria in August last year, sending tanks and warplanes across the border to support Syrian rebels fighting both ISIS and the YPG.

It helped them carve out a big portion of northern Syria, helping ensure the YPG and its allies could not link the 400-km (250-mile) stretch of territory they hold in the north and northeast with the pocket they hold west of Azaz.

Turkey considers the YPG as a Syrian extension of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), which has been in fight with the Turkish authorities for decades.

A US-led coalition spokesperson told ARA News that for the United States there is a difference between the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) and the People’s Protection Units (YPG).

"We disagree with the Turkish position that the YPG and the PKK are the same organization. The Coalition recognizes the threat the PKK poses to Turkey, but Turkey cannot pursue that fight at the expense of our common fight against forces of Evil that threaten us all," he said, in reference to the war on ISIS jihadists.

"We call on all countries in the region to remain focused on the fight to defeat ISIS, which is the greatest threat to regional and worldwide peace and security," the coalition’s official told ARA News.

"This is a message from the United States to Turkey to stop attacking the YPG, since they fear this could threaten the anti-ISIS Raqqa operation," local Kurdish journalist Heybar Othman told ARA News.

Islamic State orders shops to use its currency after its successive defeats
Raqqa (Iraqi News) The Islamic State group ordered merchants and traders to start using the group’s currency, while set the value of the IS Dirham at 1,000 Syrian pounds ($ 1.80), in order to impose its monetary policy despite its successive defeats, Alsumaria News reported on Wednesday.

The Islamic State issued the order through a voice message, forbidding the exchange of Syrian currency of the 1,000 and 50 pounds category in the IS-held areas starting the 25th of July. However, it did not mention the ban of the Syrian 500 pounds currency.

It is noteworthy, radical Islamic State group has lost territory in Syria and Iraq, and is now besieged inside its de-facto capital, Raqqa. Meanwhile, Syrian forces, backed by US troops, are continuing their assault to retake the city of Raqqa.

Furthermore, it is believed that the Islamic State has transferred its elite leaders to the city of Mayadin, located southeast of Raqqa, near Iraqi borders in Deir Ezzor Province.

Family of 7 dies as IS tunnels cause house’s collapse west of Mosul

Tal Afar (IraqiNews.com) A family of seven members died when their house collapsed due to underground excavations by the Islamic State west of Mosul, a source was quoted saying on Wednesday.

A local source was quoted saying in a press statement that the family, which included children, died under rubble when their house collapsed due to underground tunnels dug by the militants in the Islamic State’s stronghold town of Tal Afar, west of Mosul.

The source said militants usually prevent residents of houses above their working sites from leaving, adding that the tunnels serve as a defense technique against imminent assaults by security forces .

A week ago, Islamic State militants reportedly confiscated tens of civilian-owned vehicles to build fortifications in the town.

A source told Alsumaria News that the cars blocked the streets of the town, forming walls against possible offensives.

Islamic State have been holding Tal Afar since 2014, with the area becoming one of its most significant bastions in Nineveh province.

So far, offensives by the pro-government Popular Mobilization have isolated the town from the Syrian borders and from Mosul, and recaptured a main military base there.

IS member in charge of drones, others killed west of Mosul

Mosul (IraqiNews.com) Islamic State member in charge of drones in Tal Afar town, west of Mosul, has been killed along with number of comrades, a local source from Nineveh province said.

“An IS secret rest house, used for launching drones, at the outskirts of Tal Afar, west of Mosul, was heavily shelled early on Tuesday, leaving the member in charge of the drones, called Abu Hafsa, and some companions, killed,” the source told AlSumaria News.

“Other blasts occurred inside the rest house after the shelling due to presence of explosions inside,” the source, who preferred anonymity, said.

In related news, an office from Nineveh Police, said Tuesday that six IS members were killed while attempting infiltration to Rajm Hadid region, west of Mosul.

“The tribal mobilization forces were able to kill six IS members who tried to sneak into Rajm Hadid region in order to attack troops after the army withdrew,” Cap. Mohamed Jassem told BasNews.

“The members were trapped by the tribal fighters there,” he added, saying that the troops are deployed on the outskirts of the western axis toward Jazeera to prevent infiltration of the members into the liberated regions.

Senior IS Syrian member Abu Abdullah al-Halabi, the assistant head of the extremist group’s so-called “security committee”, was reportedly shot dead at the center of Tal Afar. IS members were put on high alert after the shooting.

[IsraelTimes] Man shoots at IDF forces searching for illegal weapons in the West Bank city, troops return fire.

IDF forces shot and killed a Paleostinian man in the West Bank city of Hebron
...Hamas Central in the West Bank...
on Wednesday night after he opened fire on them.

The soldiers were carrying out searches for illegal weapons when they encountered the man. "In response to the immediate threat, forces fired towards him, killing him," the army said in a statement.

An IDF spokesperson told The Times of Israel that the Paleostinian shot at the troops first, leading the soldiers to shoot him.

No soldiers were maimed.

Since 2015, the army has been on a mission to try rid the West Bank of illegally made and traded weapons, raiding suspected gunsmithing workshops and warehouses on an almost weekly basis. The campaign has led to a sharp rise in the cost to bandidos bully boyz of acquiring such weapons.

Forces have uncovered several arms workshops in Hebron and other West Bank cities as part of the effort to shut down arms manufacturing.

In the first quarter of 2017 the army shuttered 20 suspected gun-making workshops and seized about 150 guns, putting it on track to far surpass its numbers from last year. In 2016, the army closed 44 workshops and confiscated approximately 450 weapons.

Susan Rice suggests race, gender bias linked to 'unmasking' backlash
[FOX] Susan Rice unmasking 'evidence' off limits for five years?

Susan Rice, the Obama national security adviser under fire over her alleged involvement in the "unmasking" of Trump associates during the 2016 presidential election, suggested in a fresh interview that race and gender might be playing a role in the scrutiny she’s faced.

In an interview with journalist Michael Tomasky for New York Magazine, Rice reportedly questioned the criticism she’s faced dating back to the Benghazi controversy.

"Why me? Why not Jay Carney, for example, who was then our press secretary, who stood up more?" she asked.

Tomasky noted in the piece that Carney "isn’t an African-American woman, of course" and apparently asked Rice whether that is the key factor. Rice, in response, left the door open:

"I don’t know... I do not leap to the simple explanation that it’s only about race and gender. I’m trying to keep my theories to myself until I’m ready to come out with them. It’s not because I don’t have any."

Sources say Fusion GPS had its own interest, beyond those of its clients, in promulgating negative gossip about Trump.

Fritsch, who served as the Journal’s bureau chief in Mexico City and has lectured at the liberal Wilson Center’s Mexico Institute, married into a family with Mexican business interests. His wife, Beatriz Garcia, formerly worked as an executive at Grupo Dina, a manufacturer of trucks and buses in Mexico City that benefits from NAFTA, which Trump opposes.

Fritsch’s Fusion GPS partner Thomas Catan, who grew up in Britain, once edited a business magazine in Mexico.

Hamas creates no-go security zone on border with Egypt
[Al Jazeera] Paleostinian Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth", movement, which rules Gazoo, has begun building a no-go security zone on the strip's border with Egypt, saying "Egypt's national security is Paleostine's national security".

Tawfiq Abu Niem, Gazoo's deputy interior minister, said on Wednesday that the aim of the buffer zone is "to control the borderline area and boost security" on the frontier with Egypt.

The measures are part of an agreement reached with Egypt, Abu Niem said without elaborating.

"We are sending a message to Egypt that we are committed to fully ensuring the borders," he said. "The plan includes levelling a 12km area close to the borderline with Egypt, placing lookout towers and cameras as well as lightening the whole area."

He said the closed military zone would be 12km long and 100m wide, aiming "to prevent smuggling drugs and infiltration of people from and to Egypt".

Bulldozers were expected to demolish a series of homes and structures along the border.

Iraqi policeman, who calls himself ‘The Beheader,’ decapitated 50 ISIS militants
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The total number of ISIS forces of Evil he killed is 130, including 50 others whom he beheaded. Meet Falah Aziz, an Iraqi policeman who boastfully calls himself ’The Beheader.’

"Every day, I swear, I slaughter them, as they’ve slaughtered us," Aziz told Expressen, a Swedish news site, in an interview published on Wednesday.

In the past three years, Aziz has been in a war against ISIS, the notorious murderous Moslem group, which killed four of his brothers.

"As they slaughtered my brothers, I slaughter them," he said. "They’ve driven us to it. What they’ve done has killed our compassion. Finding your brother slaughtered, or your mother slaughtered."

Severing someone’s head off is no longer a difficult task for him.

"Just that feeling, I can’t explain how at ease I am with it," he said. "What they have done to us, we must do to them."

Asked if the men he beheads were dead or alive, he said: "No, no, alive."

Aziz has photos and videos of his Dire Revenge killings published on his Facebook page.

While Aziz’s killings of captured ISIS forces of Evil including underage ones without trial constitute a war crime, the Iraqi Police Force, and Iraqi Armed Forces seem to accept his actions and at times celebrate his new kill.

Aziz, who is currently fighting with the Iraqi Federal Police Force’s 5th Division, "expects to die, not to remain here," a sentiment somehow similar to those ISIS murderous Moslems.

Backed by Russian Arclight airstrikes, the Syrian Army and Hezbollah stormed the 10km area in eastern Homs this morning, inflicting heavy damage on the Islamic State’s defenses.

Unable to maintain ground in the 10km area, the Islamic State ultimately withdrew towards the al-Hayl Gas Fields in order to avoid increasing their corpse count.

Syrian Army launches offensive to expel ISIS from Khanasser region
[ALMASDARNEWS] Moments ago, the Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) 30th Division, led by the elite Elite Republican Guards (which represents the striking core of the Aleppo-based formation), launched a surprise offensive against the last remaining ISIS bastion in Aleppo Governonate that is represented by a belt of fortified villages buried in a mountainous semi-desert landscape to the northeast of the strategic town of Khanasser.

So far the SAA has managed to liberate 2 villages from ISIS. These settlements are al-Sharimah and al-Atshanah. In addition to this, two key hilltops have also been captured by the SAA. Some reports say that the village of Rasm Askr was also liberated, however, there is confusion over whether or not the settlement was already under pro-government control prior to the offensive.

In any case, this advance comes as the SAA has been trying to force ISIS to retreat from the Khanasser region whilst also leaving a safe route for Lions of Islam to escape south across the Ethriyah-Raqqa highway. Whether ISIS has totally withdrawn from the area or not is now total irrelevant, for either by way of death in battle or retreat, ISIS has been marked for banishment from the province of Aleppo.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Israel plotting to sever Gaza from Palestine?
[Iran Press TV] Critics have questioned intentions of some senior Israeli officials who have long pushed the idea of building an artificial island off the coast of the besieged Gazoo Strip. They say the Israeli regime is desperately attempting to sever Gazoo from the rest of the occupied Paleostinian territories.

The first, dubbed the "separation plan" from Gazoo, which Israel’s minister for intelligence, Israel Katz, has been advocating for the past few years, includes the construction of an island adjacent to the Gazoo coast.

The island would sit roughly three miles off the coast of Gazoo and be connected to the enclave by a bridge.

Now Katz has made a new video showing how his idea would work. The nearly three-minute animated clip says the island would provide Paleostinians with "humanitarian, economic and transportation gateway to the world without endangering Israel’s security."

If an artificial island was to be created, Katz’s video tells us that the Tel Aviv regime would remain in control of security in the sea around the island and be responsible for security inspections in the port.

The proposed plan is reportedly estimated at $5 billion.

The Israeli minister has indicated in the past that Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
or the Chinese might be interested in investing in the venture.

Arrest made after Ten Commandments monument at Arkansas Capitol toppled, shattered
[ARKANSASONLINE] A 6-foot-tall stone Ten Commandments monument installed Tuesday on the Arkansas Capitol grounds was toppled less than 24 hours later after a 32-year-old Arkansas man drove a vehicle into the statue, apparently while streaming the act live on Facebook, officials said.
If you don't agree with it, destroy it.
Chris Powell, a spokesman with the Secretary of State's Office, said he was called early Wednesday and told a man drove a vehicle through the monument. That driver — identified in an arrest report as Michael Tate Reed of Van Buren — was arrested by Capitol police shortly after, Powell said. News reports indicate Reed was previously accused of destroying a Ten Commandments monument in Oklahoma.

The Arkansas arrest report said an officer around 4:45 a.m. spotted a dark-colored vehicle "start from a stopped position and ram the Ten Commandments monument."

"I immediately exited my vehicle and placed the subject in custody," Corporal Chad Durham wrote, noting Reed was first taken to a local hospital before being booked into the Pulaski County jail.

The arrest report for Reed listed "unemployed/disabled" under occupation.

Reed, who was lodged in the jail shortly after 7:30 a.m., faces charges of defacing objects of public respect, trespassing on Capitol grounds and first-degree criminal mischief, according to the report. He was being held without bail pending an initial court appearance.

It was “absolutely” a shock to get the call about what happened, Powell said.

“We had some concerns, just because this was such a highly charged issue with some people,” Powell said.

Sen. Jason Rapert, R-Bigelow, who sponsored the 2015 law to erect the monument on state grounds, called the statue's destruction "an act of violence" and said he expects to be able to raise funds quickly to replace the display.

The senator is expected to speak more about what happened at an 11:30 a.m. news conference at the Capitol.

Europe
Czech law to allow civilians to shoot during terrorist attack
[AlAhram] The Czech parliament on Wednesday passed a constitutional amendment that challenges EU gun control rules by allowing legal firearms holders to use them when national security is threatened, including during terrorist attacks.

The amendment, which passed by a large majority, is expected easily to gain approval from the senate and President Milos Zeman, still needed for it to take effect.

The Czech government also said earlier this month it would ask the European Court of Justice to strike down new EU gun control rules that have its hunters and gun collectors up in arms.

Both moves come as parties jockey for support ahead of the October general election, when the centrist ANO junior coalition partner is tipped to oust the Social Democrats as government leader.

Wednesday's Czech amendment was submitted by government and opposition parties and approved by 139 out of the 168 deputies present in the lower house of parliament. Nine voted against.

"We don't want to disarm our citizens at a time when the security situation in Europe is getting worse," Interior Minister Milan Chovanec, a senior Social Democrat, told parliament Wednesday.

"Show me a single terrorist attack in Europe perpetrated using a legally-owned weapon," he said.

Passed in mid-March by the European Parliament, the new EU gun control directive bans civilians from possessing certain semi-automatic weapons as part of counter-terrorism measures.

EU members are supposed to incorporate the new rules, which passed in June, within 15 months.

The Czech interior ministry said the directive would affect nearly all 300,000 legal firearm licence holders in the country of 10.6 million people.

The Czech Republic, where there is no recent history of terrorism, has been pushing for softer rules on gun control, unlike other countries like Luxembourg and La Belle France which asked for strict legislation.

Besides banning short semi-automatic firearms with loading devices over 20 rounds and long semi-automatic firearms with loading devices over 10 rounds, the EU directive prohibits long firearms that can be folded or concealed in other ways.

The EU rules make it easier to trace firearms. They also require registration of converted firearms that only fire blanks, which are used in theatres or on television, under the same category as the original weapons.

Hamas replaces assassinated terror commander — report
[IsraelTimes] Mazen Faqha’s Gazoo-based successor is said to have extensive connections in the West Bank.

Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth", has replaced a top commander who was responsible for planning the terror group’s attacks in the West Bank, Israeli intelligence sources told Channel 2 on Wednesday.

Mazen Fuqha was rubbed out on March 25 near his home in Tel el-Hawa, a neighborhood in southwestern Gazoo City, with a silencer-equipped weapon. Hamas blamed Israel for the killing.

The TV report did not provide the name of the new Hamas commander, saying only that he grew up in the West Bank, has extensive contacts there, but now lives in the Gazoo Strip.

He is believed to be taking on a central role in an organization, which the Israeli defense establishment says has recently redoubled its efforts to recruit individuals in the West Bank to carry out attacks against Israel.

Faqha is believed to have been responsible for Hamas terror cells in the West Bank, most notably the squad that planned the kidnap and murder of Israeli teenagers Eyal Yifrah, Naftali Fraenkel and Gilad Shaer in June 2014.

She was held in a regional jail in Crookston and was scheduled to be arraigned in court on Wednesday afternoon.

Perez called 911 on Monday evening to report that she accidentally shot Ruiz in the chest while they were making a YouTube video at the couple's house in Norman County.

Authorities found Ruiz with a single gunshot wound to his chest and attempted to save his life, but he died at the scene, the complaint said.

Perez, who is pregnant, told police that Ruiz wanted to make a YouTube video of her shooting a book while he was holding it, as he believed that the book would stop the bullet, according to the criminal complaint.
Had Monalisa, who is pregnant, called me (I'm not) I'da told her to have a nice cuppa chocolate and go to bed and make sure they got that pregnancy thing just right instead. If they absolutely had to go through with it, I'da told her to first try shooting a similar book to see if it worked, then maybe try it with Pedro.

Obama’s cybersecurity adviser certain Russians didn’t hack election results
[IsraelTimes] Michael Daniel confident outcome reflects will of American people; says investigation will show if Trump colluded with Moscow.

Former US president Barack Obama
My friends, we live in the greatest nation in the history of the world. I hope you'll join with me as we try to change it...
’s cybersecurity adviser said Wednesday that he was confident Russian hackers were not able to alter voting records during last year’s election, and that the outcome was a true reflection of how the American people voted.
That's nice. What is the fuss about, then?
In an interview with Israel’s Army Radio, Michael Daniel backed up what US security officials told a Senate committee investigating Russian meddling in the 2016 election, allegedly on behalf of the eventual victor, President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
.
Except if they failed, then they didn't actually meddle, and all the fuss in the media was -- what exactly was the purpose of those leaks to the media?
Daniel, 46, who serves as president of the Cyber Threat Alliance, an international internet security cooperation group, was Obama’s cybersecurity coordinator until six months ago, when Trump became president.
Now what is he?
"I certainly think that the Russians or anyone else -- they certainly didn’t change any votes, so that the votes that were cast properly reflect the votes of the American people," Daniel said.
Yes, because if they had succeeded and changed votes, then President Obama would have seriously dropped the ball.
Both the House and Senate Intelligence committees are probing the extent of Russian involvement and hacking prior to the election.
None, according to Mr. Daniel.
The FBI is also investigating ties between Trump’s staff and Moscow figures.
None between Mr. Trump and Moscow, according to former FBI chief Comey, and there have been no solid leaks about any of his people, suggesting the accusations are vicious nonsense.
US security agencies have said they discovered widespread attempts by Russian hackers to access voter details and have pointed the finger at Moscow as being behind the hack and subsequent leak of Democratic National Committee emails.
But while there was a report of an attempted hack of the RNC, nothing came of it. Stupid is as stupid does.
However,
we can't all be heroes. Somebody has to sit on the curb and applaud when they go by...
earlier this month US officials told the Senate committee that the cyber-assaults did not affect the eventual vote count.

Daniel was more cautious when asked about Trump’s possible collusion with the Russians.

"I can’t really comment on that," he said. "Our system is designed to have a considerable number of checks and balances in it and the investigation will have to take its course."

Daniel was tight-lipped as to whether or not Trump should step down over alleged Russian ties. He was also taciturn regarding Trump’s claims that Obama bugged his election team to listen in on him.

"I have no information on that kind of activity," Daniel said and noted it was outside his purview of his job in the B.O. regime, which dealt with readiness for cyberattacks.

Daniel was in Israel to participate in the Cyber Week Conference in Tel Aviv.

released a 20-minute propaganda video covering last year’s battles for Rutbah and Ramadi along with recent raids on Iraqi outposts across the desert of western Anbar.

The astonishing battle footage shows upwards of 100 Iraqi Army corpses and approximately 50 US-manufactured vehicles seized by the Islamic State during the hit-and-run offensives. In addition, large stockpiles of weapons and ammunition were recovered by the jihadist belligerents.

The video also celebrated deceased ISIS commanders who were involved in planning the Anbar offensives, including Abu Ishaq al-Askri who died due to an American Arclight airstrike.

Despite ISIS hinting to the contrary, the Iraqi Armed Forces won both battles as ISIS ended up being routed towards the border of western Iraq. Nevertheless, the hardline group did recover significant quantities of war booty.

The man arrested in Britannia was a 44-year-old Salafist imam who led the group and who was sought by several countries. He was detained in the city of Birmingham at Spain's request.

The ministry said investigations began in 2015 when police detected videos promoted by the imam that documented the recruitment, indoctrination and sending of a young Moslem resident in Spain to Syria.

The cell also worked to recruit new members and actively promoted ISIS armed activities.

The four arrests in Spain occurred on the Mediterranean island of Mallorca, where the cell was allegedly based.

Syrian Army retakes all lost points in the Golan Heights as jihadist offensive grinds to a halt
[ALMASDARNEWS] The newly launched ’Road to Damascus’ offensive proved far from successful for a coalition of rebel groups in Quneitra province who have thrown hundreds of jihadist turbans and dozens of military vehicles at the government-held town of Madinat al-Baath over the past week.

On Wednesday evening, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) regrouped for a major counter-offensive, retaking the final four points that were overrun by opposition forces five days ago.

Amid the SAA assault, at least 20 rebel fighters were killed including none other than Abu Osamah al-Karar himself, a Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (Al-Qaeda) commander who led the initial assault on behalf of the unified ’Army of Muhammed’ operations room.

US Court Again Halts Deportations of Iraqi Nationals
[AnNahar] A US judge has halted deportations of all Iraqi nationals -- some set to be removed as early as Tuesday -- on the grounds they could be tortured or killed if returned to the Middle Eastern country.

US District Judge Mark Goldsmith on Monday expanded nationwide an earlier order affecting mostly Chaldean Christians who were nabbed
Drop the gat, Rocky, or you're a dead 'un!
in immigration raids in the state of Michigan, alarming local Iraqi communities.

The judge said his latest order temporarily halts removal proceedings against as many as 1,444 people, including in Tennessee and New Mexico, of whom 85 faced removal as early as Tuesday.

The order comes as the federal government prepares to block certain citizens from six predominantly Moslem countries from traveling to the US, after the Supreme Court Monday partially reinstated President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
's controversial travel ban ahead of a hearing on the case.

In a March deal between the US and Iraq, the Trump administration agreed to remove the Middle Eastern country from the initial version of its proposed ban, in exchange for Iraq agreeing to take in deported immigrants colonists.

More than 100 Iraqi immigrants colonists with criminal records were arrested in the bankrupt, increasingly impoverished, reliably Democrat, Detroit
... ruled by Democrats since 1962. A city whose Golden Age included the Purple Gang...
area in an immigration raid earlier this month -- prompting a lawsuit.

They were slated for deportation back to the war-torn Middle Eastern country with a history of religious animus.

"The community was caught off guard," Nathan Kalasho, a member of the Iraqi Chaldean Christian community in the Detroit area told AFP.

"We have not faced a crisis like this in the United States for several years," said Kalasho, an operator of a charter school who is helping in a joint legal effort with the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU).

Judge Goldsmith last week granted a temporary restraining order to pause any impending removals to give immigrants colonists a chance to show that they would be in danger if sent back.

"The substantiated allegations made here are that detainees face extraordinarily grave consequences: death, persecution, and torture," Goldsmith wrote in expanding the order nationwide for 14 days.

US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) responded to an AFP inquiry by saying the agency intended to comply with the order.

"ICE is currently reviewing the judge's order to determine the appropriate next steps," front man Khaalid Walls told AFP via email.

Earlier this month, the agency pointed out that those arrested in Michigan all had criminal convictions which qualified them for deportation.

But advocates claim many of those targeted have lived in the US for decades and led responsible lives after brief brushes with the law.

"It's unfair to term them as criminals after they've served their debt to society," Kalasho said.

"There were people who were swept up over marijuana possessions as far back as the '80s," he said.

I don't recall any law addressing the concept of 'debt to society'. Nice piety, but felony convictions and punishment today more often simply reflect we're rich enough to warehouse people who otherwise in earlier times would have been hung.

Army nabs would-be stabber at Bethlehem checkpoint
[IsraelTimes] A Paleostinian woman was detained Wednesday while trying to cross a West Bank checkpoint with a knife, apparently while on her way to carry out a stabbing attack in Jerusalem.

Border coppers who searched the 36-year-old at the crossing near the city of Bethlehem found the weapon during a search, police said.

The woman, from the town of Yatta, near Hebron, was taken for questioning, where she reportedly told Sherlocks she wanted to carry out a stabbing attack in Jerusalem.

Nobody was injured during the incident, which came less than two weeks after three Paleostinian men carried out an attack in the Old City of Jerusalem that killed a Border Police officer, 23-year-old Hadas Malka.

North Carolina man gets life in prison for plotting Islamic State attack
[Rooters] A North Carolina man accused of murdering his neighbor and offering to pay an undercover agent to kill his parents was sentenced to life in prison on Tuesday for plotting mass shootings in the name of Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
, U.S. prosecutors said.

Justin Sullivan,
...known in full as Justin Nolan Sullivan, a jihadi wannabe who asked an undercover FBI agent to kill his parents so they couldn't interfere with his mass murdering fun...
21, of Morganton, was sentenced in federal court in Asheville on one count of attempting to commit an act of terrorism transcending national boundaries, the Justice Department said in a statement.

Sullivan had pleaded guilty in November 2016, and the agreement with prosecutors called for the life sentence.

Prosecutors said Sullivan conspired with Junaid Hussain,
...also cleverly known as "Abu Hussain", the young former Birmingham, Englander was briefly the proud husband of well-wrinkled, former punk rocker Sally Jones and one of ISIS' team of long-distance jihad coaches. He was all of 21 when a drone dun him in...
a British hacker who was an online recruiter of people to carry out attacks on behalf of the Death Eater group Islamic State. Hussain was killed by a U.S. air strike in Syria in 2015.

Islamic State has carried out or inspired attacks in the United States, Europe and elsewhere.

Sullivan had discussed his plot online with an undercover federal agent, making plans to buy a semi-automatic rifle at a gun show and discussing potential targets.

Sullivan said he would use the rifle at a concert, bar or club in an effort to kill as many as 1,000 people, the Justice Department statement said.

At Sullivan's request, the undercover agent sent a homemade silencer to his home.

Sullivan's mother opened the package. When his parents questioned him about the silencer, Sullivan offered to pay the agent to kill them so they would not interfere with his plans, the statement said. He was jugged
Keep yer hands where we can see 'em, if yez please!
in June 2015.

At the sentencing hearing, U.S. District Judge Martin Reidinger likened Sullivan's plan to the deadly nightclub attack in Orlando in 2016. But he said his plot to use a silencer to kill as many people as possible made it even more sinister, prosecutors said in their statement.

Sullivan told the judge he was not "a cold-blooded killer," the Charlotte Observer newspaper reported.

Sullivan also faces a murder charge in state court in the 2014 death of his neighbor, John Bailey Clark. Prosecutors, who plan to seek the death penalty in that case, have said Sullivan told Sherlocks he stole his father's rifle for use in that crime.

Spanish court strikes another city’s anti-Israel resolution
[IsraelTimes] For the second time in less than a year, a high court in Spain scrapped the adoption of a boycott against Israel by a municipality.

The Superior Tribunal of Justice of Madrid in its decision last week affirmed a lower court ruling in January against the resolution last year endorsing the boycott by the city council of the Rivas Vaciamadrid suburb. The high court said the council’s adherence to the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement against Israel was "discriminatory."

The court also rejected explicitly the council’s argument that its boycott resolution was anchored in UN resolutions against Israel, the pro-Israel group ACOM wrote in a statement published Tuesday about the appeal. ACOM initiated the original case against the municipality.

In October, a Spanish high court in the Asturias region declared a BDS resolution illegal and discriminatory in a suit also filed by ACOM. The group had sued the Langreo City Council over its support for BDS.

Over the past two years, pro-Israel activists have obtained dozens of rulings, legal opinions and injunctions against BDS in Spain. Some 50 Spanish municipalities have passed resolutions in recent years endorsing BDS -- more than in any other European country.

In neighboring La Belle France, promoting the BDS movement is illegal under legislation from 2003 that lists efforts to bring about the singling out of nations and their peoples as a form of hate crime. Similar legislation is being prepared in Britannia, the government said last year.

[ALMASDARNEWS] On Wednesday, a huge kaboom rocked the ISIS-held town of Jallayn in southern Syria, resulting in the death of at least six jihadist commanders who were gathered for a meeting to discuss a coming offensive in western Daraa.

Reports regarding the incident are conflicting; some indicate a US warplane was involved while others claim a boom-mobile violently interrupted the meeting.

Nevertheless, six ISIS field commanders were confirmed dead due to the attack, namely: Abu Hamza al-Komah, Abu Madeen, Abu Qassourah, Abu Oubidah al-Shami, Ahmad al-Ghazi and Abu Hashem.

Israel targets Syrian military positions in Golan Heights as Netanyahu visits
[Iran Press TV] The Israeli military says it targeted a Syrian army position after errant mortar fire landed in the occupied Golan Heights during a visit by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to the region.

The Israeli army said on Wednesday that a shell had landed in northern Golan Heights without causing any damage or casualties.

We "targeted the Syrian military position that fired the mortar," it said in a statement. The stray shell reportedly landed as Netanyahu was visiting a nearby town.

"While I was speaking, I said here that we will not tolerate errant shooting and we will respond to all firing. During my speech, there was errant fire from the Syrian side that landed in our territory and the army has already attacked," the Israeli prime minister claimed.

This is the third time Israel has hit Syrian positions this week, claiming that the attacks were in response to Syrian mortar fire.

On Sunday, the Israeli military carried out a string of aerial assaults against the positions of the Syrian government forces in the Golan Heights, just one day after Israeli fighter jets carried out a series of Arclight airstrikes against a number of Syrian army targets near the area.

Western Mosul reconquest: the final push continues

Iraqi military recaptures two areas near IS-held mosque in Mosul’s Old City

Mosul (IraqiNews.com) Iraqi government forces recaptured two areas at the heart of western Mosul’s Old City on Wednesday as operations push deeper against a few hundred Islamic State militants at their last bastion in the city.

The Defense Ministry’s War Media Cell said army forces took over Hadrat al-Sada and Ahmadiya, northwest of the Grand Nuri Mosque where Islamic State’s supreme leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi proclaimed an Islamic “caliphate” in 2014.

Police say 70% of Mosul’s Old City recaptured from Islamic State

Mosul (IraqiNews.com) Iraqi forces have taken over 70 percent of western Mosul’s Old City district, Islamic State militants’ last refuge in Iraq’s second largest city, police forces said.

Federal Police chief, Lt. Gen. Shaker Jawdat, said his forces moved Wednesday through al-Farouq street towards Bab al-Toub, Serjkhana, Bab Jadid and Bab Lakash, all areas in the middle of the medieval district.

He said troops were engaging in fierce battles with an estimated 300 IS fighters, backed by warplanes and drones.

During the advances, Jawdat said, police troops killed 63 militants. Those, he said, included Ahmed al-Jubouri, the commander of IS’s so-called “military police service”, Abu Fatema al-Ansari, a Moroccan who served as the top military commander for western Mosul, Abu Anas al-Suri, a Syrian in charge of detachments, and Abu Ruqaya, a top ammunition keeper.

The forces, according to Jawdat, destroyed 14 booby-trapped cars and detonated 52 explosive devices. They also seized stacks of chemical substances and other munitions.

Hostile elements giving sectarian colour to terrorist incidents in Pakistan: ISPR
[DAWN] The Pakistain Army has called for a unified response to what it said was a "malicious" campaign by hostile intelligence agencies and anti-state elements to give a sectarian and ethnic colour to a recent string of terrorist incidents in the country that mainly targeted minority Shias.

"Having failed to divide us through terrorism, our enemy is now trying to target and fragment us along sectarian/ethnic lines which merits a unified national response," said an Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) blurb on Wednesday.

The people of Pakistain need to be cognisant of the campaign, which is also "unwittingly" being spread on social media, said the statement, adding that the army is closely following the situation.

"For us every shaheed [martyred]/injured is equal, regardless of sect/ethnicity and indeed is a great loss," it quoted Chief of Army Staff Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa as saying.

"We all are Paks and Moslems who fully respect the religious rights of our Pak minorities."

1 killed, 3 injured in cross-LoC firing by Indian troops
[DAWN] A man was killed and three others, including a woman, injured in Azad Jammu and Kashmire (AJK) as Indian forces opened fire from across the Line of Control (LoC) on Wednesday, local police said.

The casualties occurred in the Nakyal sector in southern Kotli district after shelling began in the area at about 3:30pm, with Indian troops using small arms, automatic weapons and mortars, according to local officials.

Abdul Wahab, son of Haji Razzaq, was hit by shrapnel from a mortar shell when he was on his way to Dothilla village, which lies along the restive LoC, police official Khurshid Ahmed told Dawn.

The 22-year old victim, who ran a shop in Nakyal bazar, was struck down in his prime, he added.

Elsewhere, Mohammad Shakil, 25, was injured in Balakot, Asif Mahmood, 28, was injured in Mohra Gimb and Safeera Bibi, 32, was injured in Bohail Colony.

They were hospitalised in District Headquarters Hospital Kotli, police official Idrees Ahmed told Dawn.

Florida Leftist Arrested After Threatening to Kill GOP Representative
[THEGATEWAYPUNDIT] Two weeks after a U.S. congressman and four others were shot during a baseball practice in a Washington suburb by a man with a history of lashing out at Republicans, a Florida politician decided he wasn’t taking any chances.

So Sunday, after someone threatened his life on a Facebook page, state Rep. Jose Felix Diaz, R-Miami, informed police.

And on Monday, Northwest Miami-Dade resident Steve St. Felix, 34, was jugged
Drop the gat, Rocky, or you're a dead 'un!
and charged with written threats with intent to do bodily injury. Police said St. Felix was "fed up" with the Republican Party -- and that he hadn’t taken his meds when he posted the threat. It’s unclear what condition the medications were treating.

The threat -- "I’ll kill your ass and you better not show up to the next REC meeting" -- was quickly removed from the Facebook page, police said. It appeared to refer to the Republican Executive Committee, the name of the local Miami-Dade County GOP.

#2  At least the police are taking this serious now. Las year Obama would have stopped sent the IRS and media after the cops for stifling the first amendment rights of the people making threats.

3.5 ISIS remove themselves from gene pool in Salahuddin

Three IS members, including Brit, killed making booby-trap in Salahuddin

Shirqat (IraqiNews.com) Three Islamic State members died when a booby trap they were preparing in Salahuddin province exploded, said a local source on Wednesday.

The three were bomb experts with the group, and included a British national nicknamed Abu al-Baraa al-Muhajer, the source told Alsumaria News. They were booby-trapping a vehicle, the source added.

The trio arrived to the city of Shirqat a month earlier, escaping battles in the western side of Mosul where Iraqi forces are days away from retaking IS’s largest bastion and previously-proclaimed capital.

Dozens of IS members have died over the past months while planting explosives at different havens in Salahuddin and other provinces.

Islamic State member wounded as son kills himself playing with grenade

Shirqat (IraqiNews.com) An Islamic State member was wounded and his child was killed when a grenade the latter was playing with exploded, a local source in Salahuddin province said on Wednesday.

The source told Alsumaria News that the IS member, who belonged to the group’s so-called “soldiers bureau”, was badly wounded while his seven-year-old child died while playing with a grenade at their home in Shirqat, north of Salahuddin.

The source pointed that most of IS members keep weapons inside their homes in that region.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Lavrov: Russia to respond 'in proportion' to US strike on Syria
[Iran Press TV] Russia has said it will react "in proportion" to any US military actions against Syria on the pretense of preventing a chemical attack.

"We will react with dignity, in proportion to the real situation that may take place," said Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Wednesday during a presser.

Lavrov added that he hoped the US would not use its intelligence assessments concerning the Syrian government's alleged intentions to further provoke the country.

"I expect that our partners in the region - American, European - will also have an open and comprehensible approach aimed at de-escalation through normalization of the humanitarian situation," he added.

Russia: U.S. chemical attack assertions complicate Syria peace talks – RIA

[IraqiNews] U.S. assertions that the Syrian government may be planning a chemical weapons attack complicate peace talks on Syria, RIA news agency quoted Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov as saying on Wednesday.

U.S. officials said on Tuesday Washington’s warning to Syria’s leadership against staging a chemical weapons attack was based on intelligence about what appeared to be active preparations at a Syrian airfield used for such an attack in April.

Gatilov warned the United States not to take unilateral actions in Syria.
