Israel and U.S. Young, Black and Latino Americans Don't Like Israel Jews
[Newsweek] The more Americans know about Israel, the less they like about it, according to a new survey.

The Brand Israel group has commissioned regular surveys in its bid to promote the image of Israel as a key ally to America in the Middle East.

While more Americans said they are more knowledgeable about `Israel than before, larger numbers said they had a negative opinion of the country. Less than two-thirds (62 percent) of people surveyed in 2017 have a positive view of Israel, compared to just over three-quarters (76 percent) in 2010.

Although a majority of Americans still view Israel favorably, support is declining among younger Americans and especially among the black and Latino population.

"Shared values are the bedrock of our relationship, and young Americans do not believe Israel shares our values," Fern Oppenheim, one of the group’s co-founders, told the Jewish Telegraphic Agency. "That’s a huge issue. We have to have a narrative about the heart and soul and humanity of the Israelis."

The survey was carried out between September and October 2016 by polling firm Global Strategy Group on behalf of Brand Israel, and sampled 2,600 Americans across a range of demographic groups.

It found that while older Americans, Republicans and men were more likely to view Israel approvingly, the opposite was the case for Millennials, Democrats, women, as well as African-American and Latino Americans.

The Susan Rice ‘unmasking' investigation is linked to the Russian election hack investigation
[The Blaze] There is now proof that Russians did try to meddle in the United States’ 2016 presidential election, and hearings in the Senate continue to determine if President Donald Trump was somehow involved. Receiving decidedly less press is a closed-door hearing on whether former President Barack Obama tried to "unmask" members of Trump’s campaign.

However, Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY.) has delayed efforts to discover if the previous administration inappropriately used intelligence information to identify U.S. citizens. Chris Salcedo asked on today’s "Chris Salcedo Show" why these Senate activities are not major news.

It is considered part of the Russia investigation due to the reason the intelligence was being gathered; the Obama administration did know that they were attempting to hack the election. Chris wondered why the former president did not do something about Russian interference when he knew about it.

"The Democrats don’t want to harm the Russians," he concluded.

China rips up Hong Kong Deal with the UK

Last Monday the convenient fiction on which Britain handed over Hong Kong to China ("one country, two systems") came to an end. The Standing Committee of China's parliament, the National People's Congress, declared that the inhabitants of Hong Kong could not elect their chief executive in 2007, nor vote for more than half the seats in the territory's legislature in 2008.

But that's the extent of it. Seven years after the hand-over, the spirit of the Chinese-British deal has been destroyed, and we prefer to ignore it. In slightly menacing celebration, eight Chinese warships sailed into Hong Kong harbour last week, the biggest show of Chinese naval strength there since 1997.
Why? Chinese government officials rummaged around in their collective memory and produced a pretty feeble reason: it was the 55th anniversary of the creation of the Chinese communist navy. Wouldn't it have been better to celebrate the 50th anniversary in this fashion? No answer. Back in 1999, of course, the Chinese were still wary of flouting the agreement with Britain. Not any longer.

The display of naval force was intended for another audience altogether: the government and people of Taiwan. Beijing has stopped playing Mr Nice Guy, trying to seduce the Taiwanese by showing how affectionate and accommodating it can be to those parts of the Motherland which have become temporarily unattached. Now it's sending Taiwan a pre-emptive warning.
The commander of the flotilla in Hong Kong harbour, Vice Adml Yao Xingyuan, was straight-spoken when someone asked him about Taiwan. "We are ready for the call from our country," he snapped. "We have the capability to maintain the political stability of Taiwan."
In other words, China is showing that it exerts a potential control over Taiwan to match its actual control over Hong Kong. If the United States and Britain don't like it, too bad; China has the military strength to do the job if necessary.
This presents the Americans with a real problem. Like the British in Hong Kong, they have been looking for a way of maintaining Taiwan's basic rights while keeping China happy. The "one nation, two systems" approach seemed a reasonable way forward.
But all sorts of factors have now persuaded China that it doesn't need to jump through these tiresome hoops any longer: the Americans are mired in a foreign adventure in Iraq which may well act as a kind of aversion therapy for the rest of this decade, much as previous American disasters in Vietnam, Lebanon and Somalia did; China is more sure of itself economically, politically and military; and Taiwan has got itself into a foolish state of political weakness after the muddled election which only just gave President Chen Shui-bian another term in office.
The best reason for threatening Taiwan is the relative absence of fuss in the West about what's happened to Hong Kong. If anyone, back in 1997, had realised that the agreement to allow Hong Kong to follow its own path for half a century would be trashed within seven years, there would have been international outrage. Now the few remaining Western foreign correspondents based in Hong Kong count themselves lucky to get a few column inches about it, and the Chinese have turned it all neatly into an argument about how little democracy the British allowed Hong Kong when it was their colony

Democrats Propose Cutting Funding for ICE, Border Patrol
[PJ] WASHINGTON ‐ A group of Democratic senators said Congress should reject the Trump administration’s immigration enforcement budget request for FY 2018 and cut the "existing funding levels" for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

"To minimize damage, we need to reduce funding for President Trump’s deportation force and provide no funds for his costly and unnecessary border wall. President Trump pledged to build a deportation force to indiscriminately deport the nation’s undocumented immigrants," Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) said on a conference call last week held by America's Voice Education Fund.

"Kelly’s DHS has greatly expanded who is considered a priority for enforcement. In May, ICE reported that arrests of individuals with no criminal history was up by 156 percent compared to the same time last year. This has had an outsized impact on California, which is home to one in four of the nation’s immigrants," she added.

Harris said Trump’s stricter approach to immigration enforcement has contributed to less crime reporting in some American cities such as Los Angeles and Houston.

"This is without question a public safety issue," she said. "The administration wants taxpayers to support $2.8 billion in new DHS spending to carry out a misguided and harmful enforcement and border strategy while massive cuts are made to other domestic programs, including critical DHS grant programs that help keep our nation safe."

Harris disagreed with the administration’s $1.5 billion request to pay for additional beds in immigration detention centers.

"We should reject this proposal and instead produce a budget that provides for our safety, our economy and, equally important, supports our values," she said.

Sen. Robert Menendez (D-N.J.) argued that more detention beds, a border wall and additional ICE agents are a "waste" of taxpayer dollars.

#1  An option would be lowering ICE's presence within California.

Limp Dic* GOP Congress Uses Trump Tweets as Excuse for Its Own Ineptitude
BLUF: [PJ] By involving themselves in this nonsense (tweets and Russian hacking), the Republicans senators and congressman are, unwittingly, dancing to the media's tune. It's a form of a cowardice, really. They aren't in Congress to look good. They're not even in Congress to get reelected (although that seems to be the only thing on their minds). They are in Congress for the benefit of the American people. If tweeting is a weakness of Trump's (and there's reason, of course, to think that it isn't), so what? Everyone has weaknesses. Move on and do your job -- or you may never get another chance to do it.

(Yes, I realize they just passed Kate's Law. And that's good. But that's easy-peasy compared to the real stuff.)
"Tweets & Russian hacking," my add.

Warning signals from Nigerian hospital shooter, the late Dr. Henry Bello ignored
BLUF: There were major warning signs in Bello’s life before the mass shooting, which spanned two floors as Bello opened fire on hospital employees, including other doctors. He had a criminal history that mostly involved attacks against women.

According to Pix11, Dr. Bello had three prior arrests, including one for sexual abuse. The New York Post reported that Bello was arrested in August 2004 in Manhattan "following an incident in which a 23-year-old woman said an assailant grabbed her crotch, held her arms, lifted her up and carried her off, saying, ’You’re coming with me.'"

Bello was "charged with sex abuse and unlawful imprisonment, sources said. Pix11 reported that Bello pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor in the 2004 case and received community service.

According to The Daily Beast, Bello also had "an arrest for attempted burglary at 5:10 a.m. on April 23, 2003, when he kicked in the door to an ex-girlfriend’s apartment on Buchanan Place in the Bronx."

From a news article in 1949 - 'Ode to The Welfare State'
[McCook Gazette] Mr. Truman's St. Paul, Minn., pie-for-everybody Speech last night reminded us that, at the tail-end of the recent session of Congress, Representative Clarence J. Brown (R-Ohio) jammed into the Congressional Record the following poem, Describing its author only as "a prominent Democrat of the State of Georgia":

DEMOCRATIC DIALOG

Father, must I go to work?
No, my lucky son,
We're living now on Easy Street
On dough from Washington.

We've left it up to Uncle Sam,
So, don't get exercised.
Nobody has to give a damn--
We've all been subsidized.

But, if Sam treats us all so well,
And feeds us milk and honey,
Please, Daddy, what the hell
He's going to use for money?

Don't worry bub, there's not a hitch
In this here noble plan,
He simply soaks the Filthy Rich,
And helps the common man.

But, father, won't there come a time
When they run out of cash
And we have left them not a dime,
when things all go to smash?

My faith in you is shrinking, son,
You nosy little brat;
You do too damn much thinking, son,
To be a Democrat._

Gwinnett youth reject multiculturalism, use tasers and boiling water to rape and pillage
[AJR] A woman carrying her two young sons arrived home from work around 3 a.m., May 12 to find two men had broken into her apartment.

The men shocked her with stun guns, threw boiling water on her and raped her while her older son watched, a police report said.

Police have arrested 17-year-old Francisco Palencia, 19-year-old Josue Ramirez and an unnamed 15-year-old female in connection with the assault. All three suspects have been charged with home invasion, rape, aggravated sodomy, kidnapping, aggravated battery and cruelty to children. They will appear for a preliminary hearing on July 5 at the Gwinnett County Detention Center.

More arrests in the case are possible, a Gwinnett County Police Department spokesman said.

Jimmy Carter broadsides Donald Trump: Republican tapped ‘reservoir of inherent racism'
[Wash Times] Former President Jimmy Carter pulled no punches against Donald Trump in a recent interview with The New York Times.

The 39th commander in chief told the newspaper by phone on Monday that Mr. Trump’s Republican presidential campaign is fueled by lingering U.S. racism.

Mr. Carter, 91, said in February that the billionaire was his favorite Republican candidate because he is "completely malleable." The former Democrat president now says Mr. Trump "tapped a waiting reservoir there of inherent racism" to succeed.

"When you single out any particular group of people for secondary citizenship status, that’s a violation of basic human rights," Mr. Cartersaid of the Republican’s plan to deport illegal immigrants and temporarily halt Muslim immigration into the U.S.

The newspaper also asked Mr. Carter, who is planning to hold a summit of Baptists in Atlanta, Georgia, later this summer, why Mr. Trump’s support among evangelical Christians is so strong.

"The use of the word ’evangelical’ is a misnomer. I consider myself an evangelical as well. And obviously, what most of the news reporters thought were evangelicals [over the years] are conservative Republicans," the former president said.

White House: Chicago gun violence 'driven by morality'
[The Hill] White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders said Friday that rampant gun violence in Chicago is "driven more by morality than anything else."

Sanders was pushing back on the notion that easy access to guns contributes to violent crime in the Windy City.

"I think that the problem there is pretty clear that it’s a crime problem. I think that crime is probably driven more by morality than anything else," she said at an off-camera briefing at the White House.

The comment came after the Trump administration announced the creation of a Chicago Gun Strike Force and that it is sending 20 more agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to the city to help stem gun violence there.

"This is a law enforcement issue and our focus is on adding additional support," Sanders said.

Chicago’s high crime rates have been a constant focus for Trump, who ran for the White House on a law-and-order platform.

The Justice Department said 4,300 Chicagoans were shot last year and more than 700 people were killed in shootings.

Ex-CIA agent convicted over imam kidnapping to face sentencing
[IsraelTimes] Sabrina de Sousa hopes to avoid serving prison time for 2003 abduction of Abu Omar authorized by US and Italia.

A former CIA agent who was found guilty of kidnapping an Egyptia holy man by an Italian court more than a decade ago said Thursday she intended to return to Italia to face her sentence, but hopes to avoid prison.

Sabrina de Sousa, who holds dual American and Portuguese nationality, said she would leave Portugal to face the Italian courts over the abduction of radical preacher Abu Omar
...whose mother knew him as Osama Moustafa Hassan Nasr. He was involved with Ansar al-Islam, a Kurdish Islamic group in northern Iraq that the United States said had ties with Saddam Hussein's regime, the Taliban, and Al Qaeda. In 2013 Italy reactivated the case against him in absentia. At the time it did not seem likely Egypt would give up its native son to serve his sentence...
from a Milan street in 2003 in an operation allegedly led jointly by the CIA and the Italian intelligence services.

She has already gone on trial in absentia along with 22 others in what were the first legal convictions in the world against people involved in the CIA’s extraordinary renditions program that followed the September 11, 2001 attacks.

"I’m going back to Italia next week to serve a sentence that will be determined by the Italian courts," 60-year-old de Sousa told AFP, saying she hoped to be released on parole and carry out community service.

At the end of February, Italian President Sergio Mattarella granted her "a partial pardon of one year’s imprisonment," reducing her jail time to three years of a lenient form of sentence that does not necessarily need to be served behind bars and allows the convict to work.

Italia then withdrew the European arrest warrant issued after her arrest in October 2015 at Lisbon airport.

In an email sent from the US where she was preparing to have surgery, de Sousa said she would like to do her community service in Portugal but added that "even if I could... I would have reason to be very concerned about what would happen to me."

"Portugal after all threw me in prison for 10 days with no plausible reason for doing so."

Omar was kidnapped on February 17, 2003, before being transferred to Egypt where his lawyers say he was tortured, in a case that highlighted the controversial secret renditions of suspected turbans by the United States and its allies.

"This operation was approved by the highest levels of the US government," said de Sousa.

"What US officials in Washington and some in the Italian Government were told was that Abu Omar was a dangerous terrorist; and with that justification the CIA chief in Rome obtained the necessary approvals," she added.

"This obviously turned out not to be the case and Abu Omar was released from an Egyptian prison. As with most cover-ups lower level officers like myself end up paying the price for decisions for which we had no input."

Four years after 30 June, Egyptians should be proud, but long road ahead: Sisi
[AlAhram] President Abdel-Fatah El-Sisi hailed the Egyptian people on the fourth anniversary of the mass protests on 30 June 2013, saying they should be proud of what has been achieved so far, but that there is still a long way to go.

Sisi said in a televised speech that the government has achieved much since 2013, specifically in "fighting terrorism, confronting foreign powers that support terrorism and economic development".

Friday marks four years since millions of Egyptians erupted into the streets to protest the rule of Islamist president Mohammed Morsi, who had been elected one year earlier.

Morsi, who was removed from office on 3 July 2013 and tried on various charges, has been incarcerated ever since.

"30 June is a unique example of popular revolution, as the people demanded change and the institutions responded," the Egyptian president said, adding that Egyptians also took a stance against terrorism in their protest.

"Four years on, we see a lot of sacrifices from security forces... and we continue to fight turbans until victory," El-Sisi said.

Hundreds of Egyptian security personnel have been killed in attacks by Islamist bully boyz on army and police forces ‐ mostly in northern Sinai ‐ in the last four years, while the military has killed hundreds of Lions of Islam as part of its ongoing campaign to end the insurgency in North Sinai.

El-Sisi said in his speech that after 30 June, "Egypt regained its leading international role, standing against countries that support terrorism and standing by countries rebuilding their institutions."

El-Sisi also said that electing a new parliament in 2015 was a political success for Egypt.

On the economic front, El-Sisi said that the government has "launched mega development projects across Egypt... We also implemented an economic programme that is changing the reality of Egypt and resolving the economic crisis."

In mid-2014, Egypt launched a plan to introduce fiscal reforms, including levying new taxes and fuel subsidy cuts ‐ the latest of which were announced on Thursday ‐ to ease a growing budget deficit ‐ currently estimated at 12.2 percent of GDP ‐ as well as floating the Egyptian pound in November 2016.

The first increase of fuel prices came in November, shortly after the pound flotation, raising prices up to 78 percent.

"Changing the status quo requires a long time, but we are already seeing improvement in economic indicators and in the atmosphere of investment and economic growth," he said.

"I salute the people for bearing the hard measures that we had to take... I am confident in the future," El-Sisi concluded.

Home Front: Culture Wars
Trump and Morning Joke
[Spectator] Perhaps there is no better window on the awfulness of the self-appointed New York-to-DC ruling class than MSNBC’s Morning Joe. The show revolves around a collection of chattering-class bores who devote the start of their day to seconding each other’s shallow and smug criticisms of Trump. The women make faces; the men roll their eyes.

Co-host Mika Brzezinski is a feminist who lectures other women on the need to show firmness in a man’s world. Yet she spends most of the show acting like a prim, entitled Victorian-era dingbat on a fainting couch. She grips her chair for balance while she makes faux-terrified faces, then turns to “Joe” for guidance on how to address this or that Trump “outrage.” “Joe” is the vainglorious former Congressman Joe Scarborough. The two are engaged, but one suspects the relationship won’t last Trump’s two terms.

Scarborough resembles a beady-eyed frat boy whom one can more easily imagine bellowing over a keg than cracking open a serious book. Yet he casts himself as Trump’s moral and intellectual better. Trump, you see, lacks Joe’s “substance.”

Never mind that the conversation over which “Joe” and “Mika” preside (along with, among others, plagiarist and journalistic coaster Mike Barnicle) barely rises above the level of snotty cheerleaders at a high school cafeteria. The ratings for the show are wan, but from the self-importance of its participants, one would think that they occupy the commanding heights of politics. They imply that poor “Donald” lacks their understanding of the American people and so forth. They see themselves as the cool kids of American politics, whose mission it is to identify the misfits in the cafeteria. Collective chucks or sighs ensue the moment one of those “losers” violates the judgment or taste of the show’s participants.

They don’t feel any need to make arguments on the show. It is sufficient for the mean girls to point and laugh. While pretending to want more depth from the Trump administration, Joe and Mika attack anyone from it, such as Stephen Miller, who provides some. Earlier in the year, after Miller appeared on TV to make serious points about Trump’s travel ban, Joe and Mika pounced, denouncing him for such high crimes as “looking bad” on TV and daring to participate in presidential politics in his mere thirties.

“Young, little Miller,” sputtered Scarborough, claiming ludicrously that Miller hadn’t read the founding documents of the country. “Andrew Jackson — you go into your president’s office; you know, that one — and you look on the walls, and there are all these pictures of Andrew Jackson and books of Andrew Jackson. He talked about judicial independence. He talked about the importance of the judiciary. You really need to go back and read the Constitution.” He continued: “And, seriously, the White House has got to stop embarrassing themselves by putting this guy out.… I had people working me: ‘Oh, wasn’t Miller great?’ No. That is the worst performance of anybody — that made Susan Rice [on] the Sunday after Benghazi look smooth. I mean, that was horrendous and an embarrassment.”

It is hard to believe Scarborough has ever read the founding documents of the country carefully. For one thing, he didn’t appear to know, even as he ripped Miller on little more than ageist grounds, that Alexander Hamilton was younger than Miller at the time he helped write The Federalist Papers.

Trump once called Mika a “neurotic dope,” and now, according to a fresh tweet, he has revealed that she and Scarborough desperately courted him down in Florida for an interview while Mika was recovering from a “face-lift.” This will set off a new round of chattering-class chastisements. Maybe Joe and Mika will bring on special guest Megyn Kelly to chew over the “misogynist” meaning of it all. “Conservative” Nicole Wallace will report on Republican disillusion over the matter, etc., etc.

The nonsense never ends. The American people know perfectly well that Trump isn’t a saint. They don’t need the media to hold endless powwows on this subject. What’s more, they know that even with his flaws he is a hell of a lot more serious than the smug “sophisticates” always sniping at him.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Gunman Opens Fire At Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center: 1 Dead, 6 Wounded
[NEWYORK.CBSLOCAL] A doctor of family medicine shot seven people, killing one, before taking his own life at Bronx-Leb Hospital Center Friday afternoon.

The gunman was identified as Dr. Henry Bello. He brought an AR 15-type rifle into the hospital underneath a white lab coat, authorities said.

A woman was killed and six other people were hit, five of them receiving serious wounds, according to authorities. One was hit in the leg.

Bello resigned from the hospital in 2015 after allegations of sexual harassment.

Bello searched for an employee before opening fire, sources said.

The gunman opened fire on the 16th and 17th floors at around 2:55 p.m., Police Commissioner James O’Neill said.

It took about 15 minutes from the first 911 call to the time Bello’s body was found on the 17th floor, where most of the shots were fired.

The hospital’s fire alarm system went off during the incident after Bello apparently tried to set himself on fire.

"[Bello] was let go because I guess they figured he was unstable," witness Dione Morales said. "He said he was going to do this."

Morales said Bello made the threat two years ago when he left the hospital.

A "red alert" went off within the hospital during the shooting, which was placed on lockdown. Doctors and nurses barricaded themselves within.

"Everybody said ’Code red, shut the door, don’t come out of your room.’ Well we got scared, we didn’t know what was going on. They said somebody in the hospital had a rifle," a patient named Toby told CBS2’s Valerie Castro. "I just heard people screaming and I got scared and they said close your bedroom door and don’t come out of your room. So I closed the door and didn’t come out of my room. My arm is swollen but I pushed the chair to the door so nobody could come in."

#2  Who was Dr. Henry Bello?
Police have identified the shooter as 45-year-old Henry Bello, a former employee at the hospital with an extensive arrest record.

Details continue to develop, but here's what we know about him now:

The shooter has been identified as Dr. Henry Michael Bello, a 45-year-old Nigeria-born family medicine doctor formerly employed at the hospital, according to sources.

Bello has past arrests for sex abuse, turnstile jumping, burglary and public urination, law enforcement sources said.

Who Is Henry Bello 2?
Sources tell CBS2 he resigned in 2015 amid allegations of sexual harassment. He previously worked in family medicine.

Bello was also arrested in 2004 for allegedly groping a woman in Manhattan, sources say.

UN watchdog says sarin used in Khan Sheikhoun attack
[Al Jazeera] A fact-finding mission by the UN's chemical watchdog, the OPCW, has concluded that sarin or a sarin-like substance was used as a chemical weapon in the April 4 attack in the Syrian town of Khan Sheikhoun.

The confidential report released on Thursday by the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) will now be taken up by a joint UN-OPCW panel to determine whether Syrian government forces were behind the attack.

"Based on its work, the FFM (fact-finding mission) is able to conclude that a large number of people, some of whom died, were exposed to sarin or a sarin-like substance," said the report, parts of which were obtained by AFP news agency.

"The release that caused this exposure was most likely initiated at the site where there is now a crater in the road," it added.

"It is the conclusion of the FFM that such a release can only be determined as the use of sarin, as a chemical weapon."

At least 87 people, including many children, were killed in the attack that the United States, La Belle France and Britannia have said was carried out by Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad

The US launched a retaliatory cruise missile strike days later against a Syrian airbase from where it alleges the chemical weapons attack was launched.

said in a statement that she had the "highest confidence in the OPCW report".

"Now that we know the undeniable truth, we look forward to an independent investigation to confirm exactly who was responsible for these brutal attacks so we can find justice for the victims," she added.

Iraq
Mosul Offensive News

Iraqi forces close in on IS redoubt in Mosul

Mosul (Reuters) U.S.-backed Iraqi forces attacked Islamic State’s remaining redoubt in Mosul’s Old City on Friday, a day after formally declaring the end of the insurgents’ self-declared caliphate and the capture of the historic mosque which symbolized their power.

Dozens of civilians fled in the direction of the Iraqi forces, mostly women and children, some wounded by insurgents fire, thirsty and tired.

Commanders of Iraq’s CTS counter terrorism units cautioned that with the mostly non-Iraqi IS militants dug in among civilians and likely to fight to the death, the battle ahead was challenging.

CTS Major General Maan al-Saadi told Reuters it could take four to five days of fighting to capture the insurgents’ redoubt by the Tigris River, defended by about 200 militants.

“The advance continues to Midan neighborhood,” he said. “Controlling it means we have reached the Tigris River.”

The IS militants themselves denied the setbacks, their weekly publication alleging that the Iraqi army had collapsed with big casualties.

The group, whose leader declared a caliphate over parts of Iraq and Syria almost three years ago, still occupies an area as big as Belgium across the two neighboring countries, according to one estimate.

The fall of Mosul would in effect mark the end of the Iraqi half of the caliphate, although the group still controls territory west and south of the city, ruling over hundreds of thousands of people.

Its stronghold in Syria, Raqqa, is also under siege. U.S.-backed forces encircle the city after closing the militants’ last way out from the south, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitoring group said on Thursday..

Desperate Civilians
The insurgent position in Mosul is several hundred meters wide and tens of thousands of civilians are trapped there in harrowing conditions, with little food, water, medicine and no access to health services, according to those who managed to flee.

Those who escaped on Friday streamed through alleyways near the Grand al-Nuri Mosque, which Islamic State fighters blew up a week ago.

A Reuters correspondent saw smoke billowing over the riverside districts amid artillery blasts and burst of gunfire. Western troops from the U.S.-led coalition were helping adjust artillery fire with air surveillance, he said.

Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi declared the end of Islamic States’ caliphate — which he called “a state of falsehoood”‘ — on Thursday after CTS units captured the ground of the ruined 850-year-old mosque.

It was from the mosque’s pulpit that Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi declared his caliphate almost three years ago to the day.

The insurgents chose to blow it up rather than see their black flag taken down from its al-Hadba, or Hunchback, minaret where it had been flying since June 2014.

The suffering of tens of thousands whose lives have been wrecked for having lost relatives, their homes or their businesses dampened feelings of victory.

“I hear victory speeches on the radio but I cannot help not to feel sad when you see the people without homes and others fleeing with their children under the blazing sun,” said Mahmoud, a taxi driver in eastern side of Mosul which was taken back from the militants in the first 100 days of the campaign.

Grinding Warfare
The symbolic victory of the Iraqi forces came after more than eight months of grinding urban warfare which has displaced 900,000 people, about half the city’s pre-war population, and killed thousands of civilians, according to aid organizations.

Islamic State’s weekly publication al-Nabaa, denying they were losing the battle for Mosul, said the Iraqi army had virtually collapsed and suffered 300 killed and wounded.

“The epic battle of Mosul is one of the most important battles of Islam and its lessons will be applied in other confrontations God willing,” read the headline of its cover article.

A U.S.-led international coalition is providing air and ground support to the offensive, which army and federal police units are also taking part in, attacking from different directions.

“Tight alleyways with booby traps, civilians and ISIS fighters around every corner make the Iraqi security force’s advance extremely challenging,” coalition spokesman U.S. Army Colonel Ryan Dillon said in video media briefing from Baghdad.

Al-Baghdadi’s speech from the Grand al-Nuri Mosque on July 4, 2014, was the first and only time he has revealed himself to the world.

He has left the fighting in Mosul to local commanders and is believed to be hiding on the Iraq-Syrian border, according to U.S. and Iraqi military sources.

The group has moved its remaining command and control structures to Mayadin, in eastern Syria, U.S. intelligence sources said last week, without indicating if Baghdadi was also hiding in the same area.

The secretive Islamic State leader has frequently been reported killed or wounded. Russia said on June 17 its forces might have killed him in an air strike in Syria. But Washington says it has no information to corroborate such reports and Iraqi officials have also been skeptical.

Iraqi forces mopping up

Mosul (IraqiNews.com) Iraqi forces on Friday took over more of the last few remaining areas in western Mosul’s Old City as Islamic State militants give their last breaths in their biggest stronghold.

The Iraqi Joint Operations Command said Counter-Terrorism Service troops took over Shaarin market, Nabi Girgis and Abd Khoub in the Old City.

It said earlier that the forces consummated the recapture the of al-Farouq area, which falls adjacent to the Nuri al-Kabir Mosque where IS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi proclaimed the group’s rule over Iraq in 2014.

Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi on Thursday hailed the recapture of the mosque by government troops, saying it stands as an announcement to the fall of IS’s self-styled “caliphate”.

CTS commander Abdul-Ghani al-Assadi said in statements on Friday that the final liberation of Mosul could be achieved within a few days, noting that only between 200 and 300 IS fighters were remaining in the city, adding that those were mostly foreign nationals.

Iraqi forces, backed by a U.S.-led coalition and paramilitary forces, launched a major offensive in October to retake Mosul. Operations managed to liberate the eastern side of the city in January, and charged at the western side starting February 19th.

Civilians flee as Iraqi forces close in on final objectives

Iraqi government forces attacked ISIL’s remaining redoubt in Mosul’s Old City on Friday, a day after formally declaring the end of the insurgents’ self-declared caliphate and the capture of the historic mosque which symbolized their power.

Dozens of civilians fled in the direction of the Iraqi forces, mostly women and children, some wounded by ISIL fire, thirsty and tired.

The battles ahead will be difficult as most of the militants are foreigners expected to fight until the death. They are dug in among civilians, using them as human shields, Counter Terrorism Service (CTS) commanders in the city told Reuters.

The interspersal of civilians and militants presents complications on the urban battlefield. The U.N. Human Rights Office Friday also called on the Iraqi government to take action to halt the “imminent” forced evictions of Mosul families for alleged links to ISIL.

Hundreds of families have received threatening letters laying down a deadline for leaving, mainly under tribal agreements, which amount to “acts of vengeance,” U.N. human rights spokesmman Rupert Colville said.

“We urge the Iraqi Government to take action to halt such imminent evictions or any type of collective punishment, and to reinforce the formal justice system to bring perpetrators to justice,” he told a Geneva news briefing.

Iraq would declare victory in the battle for Mosul in the “next few days,” Agence France Press quoted a senior commander as saying Friday.

Man jailed after hitting Muslim teen with bacon
The third data point, hard on the heels of car attacks on Moslem crowds in London and Paris, though the latter was stymied by bollards blocking access. We have a trend.
[FoxNews] A British man has been jailed after hitting a Muslim teen with a slab of bacon after hurling insults at her and her mother.

Alex Chivers was sentenced at a London court on Thursday to six months in jail for assault and a public order offense. The 36-year-old admitted to religiously or racially-aggravated assault.

Police said Friday that he approached two Muslims on June 8 in north London and made abusive Islamophobic comments before striking the teen with bacon.

Detective James Payne said other people were present during the attack including someone who filmed the incident. Payne called the assault "truly shocking."

It came five days after Islamic extremists attacked people on London Bridge and at Borough Market.

British police have reported a rise in hate crimes.

This Week in Guns, July 1st, 2017

By Chris Covert
Rantburg.com

Housekeeping Note: I screwed up three weeks ago when I posted the Quarterly Ammunition Summaries early. They are below.

You'll note on the listings of firearms for private sale categories an entry in bold. This is the number of firearms in each class in each state from the end of 1Q, 2017. Nothing interesting except you'll also notice that the numbers show the private firearms market being flooded with used firearms, in every category in every state. Note also the price lows for each entry and you'll see that of 35 entries, 13 lows were posted in just the last six months. Nineteen lows were reached in the last 12 months. I haven't gone over the percentages yet, but it appears that not only are the markets in the five states I follow being flooded, but the increased number of firearms for sale is translating into much lower prices.

If the trend continues, it could be that prices for other, more expensive firearms will be affected as well. It is clear that manufacturers of new firearms are being affected with layoffs and moves to friendlier states.

At the moment, especially in the categories of the 5.56mm ARs and the 9mm Parabellum semiautomatic pistols -- arguably the most popular firearms of the seven categories -- this is a buyer's market. If you want to purchase a firearm privately, the time is now. Conversely, if you want to get a better value for your firearm, you have two choices. Wait for the market to firm up, which it will eventually, or sell it privately to receive a premium for your firearm.

All that said, the fatuous and repeated claim that The Bammer is the greatest firearms salesman in US history is about to be overtaken by Donald Trump. Firearms are plentiful and ready to be sold privately. I suspect some of these offers to sell are based on the lessening of the need for self defense and an increase in the need for cash. One entry I read on Friday said the seller wanted to buy a boat with the proceeds from the sale.

Even if Donald Trump and Congress don't lift a finger to expand the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (RKBA), and I am not talking about the concealed carry insanity, Trump's presence in the White House has done more for RKBA than any other president in history.

Loads

Rantburg's summary for arms and ammunition:

Pistol ammunition prices were mixed. Rifle ammunition prices were mostly steady.

ISIS fighters are given 'passports to paradise' in a desperate bid to convince them they will be rewarded with virgins in the afterlife
[DailyMail]
  • Copies of the passports were discovered by Syrian Defence Forces in Raqqa

  • ISIS handed out documents reading 'passports to heaven' to motivate fighters

  • Fighters believe they will be rewarded with paradise if they die protecting ISIS

  • Front of passport says 'No God but Allah, Muhammed is the Messenger of God'
Iranian children got golden keys for unlocking the gates of Paradise when they walked through the minefields during the Iran-Iraq war. ISIS suicide bombers get actual passports to show the guards. No name or photo in it, but the guards of Paradise will surely recognize their own, no matter how mangled.

#7  Of course, the Iranian children were also given blankets to wrap themselves in as they walked through the minefields. The regular soldiers were too disturbed by seeing pieces of kids flying all over the place. The blankets helped by keeping the parts together.

Iraq
Iran president hails liberation of Iraq’s Mosul from Daesh control
[Iran Press TV] Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has hailed the liberation of the Iraqi city of djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
from the occupation of ISIS terrorist group after three years.

In a message to Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi on Friday, the Iranian president extended his congratulations to him and the Iraqi nation over the "liberation of the biggest ISIS-controlled city in Iraq" and the breaking free from the "yoke of crime and violence" that had been unprecedented in recent centuries.

He added that this great victory was achieved thanks to cooperation, coordination, dedication and struggle by the Iraqi people, army soldiers and Popular Mobilization Units (PMU), commonly known as Hashd al-Sha'abi, backed by neighboring countries.

Rouhani added that the major victory "shows the significance of a genuine fight against those criminals who cruelly displayed violence and murder in the name of Islam."
He expressed the Islamic Theocratic Republic’s readiness to continue with the all-out fight against these criminals across the Middle East.

In a statement on Thursday, the Iraqi premier announced an end to ISIS's "state of falsehood" following the recapture of the historical Grand al-Nuri Mosque at the heart of Mosul.

"The return of al-Nuri Mosque and al-Hadba minaret to the fold of the nation marks the end of the ISIS state of falsehood," Abadi said.

Germany approves sale of nuclear-capable submarines to Israel: Report
[Iran Press TV] Germany's national security council has approved a controversial deal to sell nuclear-capable submarines to the Israeli regime, a report says.

The leading German weekly news magazine, Der Spiegel, reported on Friday that the Federal Security Council had approved the deal, without giving any sources for the information.

It added that the $1.5-billion purchase included three Dolphin-class submarines, to be manufactured by the Germany-based conglomerate ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems.

Each of the submarines is said to be capable of carrying a total of up to 16 torpedoes and submarine-launched cruise missiles (SLCM). The SLCMs have a range of at least 1,500 kilometers and are believed to be capable of delivering a 200-kiloton nuclear warhead. Israel already has five such submarines.

In mid-November last year, a report broadcast by Israel’s Channel 10 claimed that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's personal attorney and long-time confidant, David Shimron, had actually served as a local representative of ThyssenKrupp, arousing suspicions over the premier's personal interests in the deal.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Lebanese Army detains 350 in Arsal
[Iran Press TV] The Lebanese army has detained some 350 people, including members of the ISIS Takfiri
...an adherent of takfir wal hijra, an offshoot of Salafism that regards everybody who doesn't agree with them as apostates who must be killed...
terrorist group, during raids on Syrian refugee camps in the northeastern border town of Arsal, a security source says.

Early on Friday, Lebanese troops raided two Syrian refugee camps in the area. During the raids, five bombers attacked the soldiers while a sixth murderous Moslem threw a hand grenade at a patrol.

The Lebanese military said seven soldiers were maimed and a girl was killed as one of the assailants went kaboom! in the midst of a family of refugees.

An bomb also went off during a manhunt for suspected murderous Moslems in one of the refugee camps, the army said, adding four others were defused.

The security source said the raids were part of a major security sweep in an area that has been a flash point.

The army reportedly conducted the raids after intelligence reports said that murderous Moslems were preparing to carry out a series of assaults inside Leb.

5 crazies die in army sweep

Five militants blew themselves up during raids on two refugee camps in eastern Lebanon near the border with Syria in which seven soldiers were wounded, the army said.

Four of the suicide bombers struck in one camp near the border town of Arsal, wounding three soldiers.

Troops recovered four explosive devices during the raid on the Al-Nour camp.

One militant blew himself up in a second camp near the town — Al-Qariya — while another militant threw a grenade at troops wounding four of them.

The army command said the raids were aimed at arresting terrorists and seizing weapons.

Britain
Palestine Expo given green light after banning threat by government
Gotta keep up the national tradition. But it was nice to see it questioned, however briefly.
[IsraelTimes] Department for Local Government won’t stop event taking place, despite fears that its organisers have ties to terror groups.

A pro-Paleostine event due to be held in London will go ahead, despite government threats to ban it over alleged links to terror group Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason,.

The Paleostine Expo is expected to draw around 10,000 people to the Queen Elizabeth II Centre (QEII) in London, on the weekend of 8 and 9 July.

Earlier in the week, Communities Secretary Sajid Javid wrote a letter to organisers, Friends of Al Aqsa, to express concerns over their links to terror groups.

He is quoted in the Guardian as citing "concerns that your organization and those connected with it have expressed public support for a proscribed organization, namely Hamas, and that you have supported events at which Hamas and Hizballah ‐ also proscribed ‐ have been praised".

Speaking to Jewish News on Tuesday, Department for Communities and Local Government front man said: "We have worked with the QEII Centre to carry out checks following concerns raised about the Paleostine Expo 2017. Following these checks, we have agreed the event can take place as planned."

The event is billed as "the biggest social, cultural and entertainment event on Paleostine to ever take place in Europe", and will feature speakers including anti-Zionist Israeli-born speakers Ilan Pappe and Miko Peled, journalists Ben White and Peter Oborne, and controversial former National Union of Students president Malia Bouattia.

Also appearing is Iyad Burnat, who has previously been denied entry to the UK, and John Pilger documentary maker and journalist from Australia. When Burnat was turned away from Britannia in September 2016, he blamed the "Zionist lobby" and pointed to an article about his planned visit in Jewish News.

Online Threat Suspect Rattles Off Republican Names During Courtroom Outburst
[MIAMI.CBSLOCAL] A man accused of threatening to kill a Florida politician in an online posting ranted about Republicans during a courtroom hearing to evaluate his mental health.

Steve St. Felix said he was sorry about his Facebook post and did not mean to harm Florida Rep. Jose Felix Diaz, but was fed up with the Republican party.

Days earlier, the 34-year-old St. Felix allegedly posted a message on Facebook to Diaz saying, "I’ll kill your [expletive] and you better not show up to the next REC meeting."

In court for a mental health evaluation on Thursday, St. Felix waved and smiled for the camera before unleashing an outburst.

"Marco Rubio
The diminutive 13-year-old Republican U.S. Senator from Florida...
! Nelson Diaz! Manny Diaz! Manny Diaz Junior! Carlos Gimenez! (Julio) Robaina," he rattled off before being escorted out of the courtroom.

He even threatened a cameraman.

"Torturing my son, man! Get him outta here," he continued in a stream of emotion. "Alright cameraman, alright! Marco Rubio, West Miami, right? That’s right, baby!"

The tirade followed into the hallway with St. Felix shouting about his "two sons" and "Marco Rubio."

"It was shocking to see what happened. I think anybody that watched it saw a gentleman that clearly needs medication," said State Rep. Diaz about the tirade. "I pray for the gentleman. I hope he gets the appropriate mental health care that he needs right now."

Police put Diaz and his family on 24-hour guard after the Facebook post.

The state representative was particularly concerned about their safety following the attack earlier this month in Washington, D.C. that critically maimed Republican Congressman Steve Scalise and four others during baseball practice.

#4  Stelazine (trifluoperazine HCl) is effective for the short-term treatment of generalized non-psychotic anxiety. However, Stelazine (trifluoperazine) is not the first drug to be used in therapy for most patients with non-psychotic anxiety because certain risks associated with its use are not shared by common alternative treatments (i.e., benzodiazepines).

When used in the treatment of non-psychotic anxiety, Stelazine (trifluoperazine) should not be administered at doses of more than 6 mg per day or for longer than 12 weeks because the use of Stelazine (trifluoperazine) at higher doses or for longer intervals may cause persistent tardive dyskinesia ( see symptoms under Nancy Pelosi ) that may prove irreversible (see WARNINGS).

Gen Bajwa orders inquiry against FC for opening fire on civilians in Parachinar
[DAWN] Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa lamented the firing incident on protesters in Parachinar by Frontier Constabulary personnel last week, which had resulted in the death of four civilians, and said an inquiry has been initiated and that "those responsible shall not be spared".

According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations on Friday, Gen Bajwa said that the FC Commandant in Parachinar has already been changed following the firing incident by "FC troops while handling the post-blast mob situation."

"Notwithstanding the irreparable loss, four shaheeds and injured due to the firing have been given separate compensation by the FC," the army chief was quoted as saying.

Matthews Suggests Trump Channel Mussolini, Murder Kushner; Compares Him to Ethiopian Dictator
[NEWSBUSTERS.ORG] Go ahead and criticize President Trump’s Mika tweet, but there’s no denying this was disturbing. On Thursday’s Hardball, MSNBC pundit Chris Matthews compared the President to not only communist Ethiopian dictator Mengistu Haile Mariam and a modern-day Romanov but also channel Benito Mussolini having son-in-law Jared Kushner murdered.

As he’s previously done(documented here, here, and here), Matthews reiterated his belief that Kushner and wife Ivanka Trump are akin to the murderous sons of Saddam Hussein, Uday and Qusay.

Relatives kill teenage girl for 'honour' on tribal jirga's orders in Khyber Agency
[DAWN] A teenage girl was reportedly murdered by her relatives allegedly on the orders of a tribal jirga in Khyber Agency
... the place to go if you've got an Indiana Jones hat and whip. Chock full of high adventure and treacherous Pathans. You should really train up to it, though...
on Friday, in what the local political administration said was a case of 'honour' killing.

The jirga had issued the orders to kill 13-year-old Naghma after it emerged that she had allegedly attempted to run away with two young men, an official said.

After she allegedly bravely ran away with them, the boys abandoned Naghma during the journey "out of fear". She was later taken into custody by the security forces and released on bail upon assurance by the girl's relatives that they would not kill her, Assistant Political Agent Niaz Mohammad told local news hounds.

However,
some men learn by reading. A few learn by observation. The rest have to pee on the electric fence for themselves...
despite their assurances, Naghma's relatives shot her dead three days later inside a house in Landi Kotal tehsil and silently buried her body in a local graveyard.

A local government official told this scribe on condition of anonymity that the girl's killer is in the custody of the political administration.

Meanwhile,
...back at the cheese factory, all the pieces finally fell together in Fluffy's mind...
a journalist belonging to Khyber Agency claimed that the two boys who allegedly bravely ran away with the girl are in the custody of the same jirga. He claimed that the boys' relatives will make every effort to secure their freedom, but it is possible that they too will be killed on the jirga's orders.

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa
... formerly NWFP, still Terrorism Central...
Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra has sought a report into the incident from the political agent. He said the teenage girl's murder was contrary to human rights
...which are usually entirely different from personal liberty...
The National Assembly earlier this year passed a bill giving legal and constitutional cover to the centuries old jirga and panchayat systems in the country with a view to ensure speedy resolution of petty civil matters and reduce the burden of litigations on the courts.

I Own every Molecule of this Planet. And you wrought destruction on your Neighbors through the Moslem Brotherhood NAZIS. You got me right. Nazis.

You have bullied and badmouthed your Neighbors for decades and applied bad political issues to their detriment, and Ours.

I Command an end to the Moslem Brotherhood as your influence, and this is no longer an issue of Sovereignty

#5  I don't know much about Qatar. I have seen through my own friends that it spreads money around lavishly to buy support for itself (with Mr. Fisk apparently an occasional recipient). It also provided propaganda for Osama, and support for chaos in the Mid East by its support of the Brotherhood.
I suppose its rulers believed that all that plus a US military base would keep down threats to themselves from all quarters.
Too bad that Egypt and Saudi Arabia have had enough of them.
Moving the US base will be the next step if they are not careful.
By now, through Jazeera they have annoyed almost everyone at some time or another, and hardly anyone will be upset by their demise.
The best alternative for everyone would be a democracy in which its non-Arab majority become voting citizens. The worst, that Qatar becomes a part of Turkey or Iran or Russia.
The rulers seem to think that the Turkish soldiers imported to bolster them will act in their interest rather than that of Turkey. This is a beautiful but unrealistic idea and a truly threatening one if the US should depart.
The smartest approach for the rulers in the short run would be to mend fences with their neighbors by eating some crow,

#6  The rulers seem to think that the Turkish soldiers imported to bolster them will act in their interest rather than that of Turkey.

I assume Qatar is paying Turkey for the troops as well as supplying the base. I don't see how Turkey could afford it otherwise, despite being temporarily flush with the confiscations from those accused as Gulenists. An interesting situation, psychologically, since the neo-Ottoman Erdogan intends to rule a revived sultinate if he can possibly make it happen before his population implodes. On the other side of things, at least one city of the "mountain Turks" is being cleared of buildings with the promise of rebuilding soon -- but in the meantime where are the local Kurds to live and work? -- which has to be impacting Kurdish population numbers.

Las Vegas police accuse man of having sex with dead woman in public
[REVIEWJOURNAL] Las Vegas police jugged

a man Sunday after receiving reports of a sexual assault on the side of a central valley road.

Police found a dead woman at the scene and arrested Joseph G. Martinez, 57, on one count of unlawful sexual penetration of a dead body.

According to his arrest report, police arrived about 4:30 p.m. at 2140 W. Charleston Blvd., which is located near a church. Officers arrested Martinez shortly after arriving.

The dead woman appeared to be homeless and had no identification on her, according to the arrest report.

Martinez is being held at Clark County Detention Center without bail. He told police he had met the woman the night before, but she later died.

According to the arrest report, a coroner investigator determined the woman had died two to four hours before the incident.

The Clark County coroner’s office had not determined her cause of death as of Thursday. She was 35, according to the office.

Ghana: Decision to Allow Two Former Gitmo Prisoners Entry in 2016 ‘Unconstitutional’
The times, they are a-changing.
[Breitbart] The highest court in Ghana dismissed the decision by former President John Mahama to allow two former Guantánamo Bay prisoners entry into the West African country back in January 2016 as "unconstitutional."

The country’s Supreme Court ruled that the ex-president required approval from Ghanaian politicians for the transfer to take place.

The court gave Ghana’s parliament three months to approve or deny entry to the detainees who were once held at the U.S. military prison in Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, commonly known in the press as Gitmo.

"Mahmud Umar Muhammad Bin Atef and Khalid Muhammad Salih al-Dhuby had been held as enemy combatants but were cleared for release in 2009," notes the News Agency that Dare Not be Named (AP). "The two Yemenis were the first Guantanamo prisoners resettled in sub-Saharan Africa and arrived in January 2016."

Former President "Mahama has said the detainees were taken in after a direct request by the United States government and did not pose a security threat. Several religious and civil society groups protested their transfer to Ghana," it adds.

According to the CIA World Factbook, Ghana is a predominantly Christian with only about 20 percent of the population identified as Moslem.

, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt severed diplomatic and travel links with Qatar, accusing it also of courting regional foe Iran. Qatar denies the allegations.

The four countries have sent Doha a list of 13 demands, including closing the state-funded Al Jazeera television station and reducing ties to Iran, an official of one of the four countries said. They gave Doha 10 days to comply.

The deadline is expected to expire on Sunday. Kuwait, which retained ties with Qatar, is trying to mediate in the dispute with the support of the United States.

In Washington on Thursday, Qatari Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani told news hounds that Qatar, together with the Americans and Kuwaitis, was preparing responses.

"We have to set the conditions first in order to pursue these negotiations," Sheikh Mohammed said.

At a later event, Sheikh Mohammed said the future of the six-nation Gulf Cooperation Council could be at risk. The security group comprises Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait and Oman.

Puntland government rejects Minister Hosh’s plan for constitutional review process
[Garowe Online] During cabinet ministers meeting of Somalia’s northeastern administration of Puntland

Puntland and the equally autonomous Somaliland seem to have avoided the clan rivalries and warlordism that have typified the rest of Somalia, which puts both places high on the list for Islamic subversion...
, the cabinet rejected recent plan proposed by the Federal Minister of Constitutional Affairs for the scheduled constitutional review process, Garowe Online reports.

The cabinet described the proposed plan "incorrect" and does not meet the legitimate course for the constitutional review process according to the Somali Provisional Federal Constitution.

This comes following recent visit made by Federal Minister of Constitutional Affairs, Abdirahman Jibril Hosh to Garowe and held meetings with several brass hats regarding his Ministry’s plan.

However,
facts are stubborn; statistics are more pliable...
Former Puntland President and Federal Senator Abdirahman Mohammed Farole strongly slammed Hosh’s plan and noted it contradicted with the legitimate constitutional process.

Close sources revealed that Minister Hosh is aiming to expedite the flawed process to obtain funds from international community supporting federalism process in Somalia amid anticipated cabinet reshuffle.

Following the cabinet meeting, a press statement on Puntland’s stand on the constitutional review was released to the media on Thursday.

"Puntland administration urges Federal government and leadership of both Parliament Houses to prevent interference in the constitutional review process which is mandated to the parliamentary committee and independent review committee that made up of representatives from Federal member states according to Article 133 of the Provisional Constitutions," read the statement.

Paktia Police Demand Anti-Taliban Operation Amid Rising Threats
[Tolo News] Police force members in Paktia province have called for a large-scale military operation in the historic provincial capital Gardez city to eradicate Lions of Islam who operate just few kilometers away from police check posts and carry out frequent attacks on them.

Officials from Paktia Police Headquarters confirmed that the Talibs were posing serious threats to the province, calling for sufficient police force to be deployed to the area in order to tackle the turbans.

According to security officials, Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
has been looking to expand their area of operation.

The resurgent group has increased its attacks against certain targets, security officials said.

"Taliban (fighters) are operating four kilometers away from historic provincial capital Gardez city. The group launches attacks on police check posts. There is a need to carry out military operation and add to the number of check posts (in the area)," said Mohammad Mangal, an Afghan National Police officer in Paktia.

"Security in Gardez city and the roads which connect the city with other parts of the province is fragile and the Taliban can easily infiltrate into the city," said Naqibullah, a police officer.

Some members of Paktia Provincial Council expressed their concerns over ’growing security threats’ in parts of the province and said they had shared the issue with relevant institutions.

"Paktia intelligence agencies were informed about the situation, but they are quite weak to tackle the issue," member of Paktia Provincial Council Abdul Malik Zazai said.

"Threats are on the rise. The current formation of police cannot meet our needs to improve security in the province," said Paktia Police Chief Toryalai Abdiyani.

Paktia residents warned that the situation could deteriorate unless government takes action and eliminates holy warriors.

Zimbabwe: Bigwigs Gobble U.S.$11 Million in Loans
[All Africa] SENIOR officials in the Office of the President and Cabinet (OPC), permanent secretaries and military officials were lavished with personal loans amounting to US$11 million at a time the cash-strapped government is struggling to pay its bloated workforce, the Zim-bob-we Independent can exclusively reveal.

A loan schedule shows government has, between 2014 and March 2017, advanced loans to senior public officials, some of whom topped up their initial loans, despite failing to service their debts.

This comes against the backdrop of a revelation by Auditor-General Mildred Chiri that the broke Treasury has failed to account for nearly US$570 million disbursed to unnamed beneficiaries in the form of loans, exposing bad governance, gross mismanagement of public funds and systematic looting by brass hats.

The report raised concern over various issues, including maintenance of accounting records, fraudulent activities, transfers of money from fund accounts, outstanding payments to suppliers of goods and services, use of fund resources as collateral security and unsupported expenditures.

Government is spending more than 90% of revenue on recurrent expenditure, with the bulk going towards the payment of wages, leaving very little for capital expenditure and social services provision. Due to constrained cash flows, government has also been failing to pay its workers on time.

Documents seen by the Independent show that senior government officials, including those from the OPC, permanent secretaries, military, Zim-bob-we Prison Services and the Zim-bob-we Republic Police (ZRP), have outstanding loans which they are struggling to service.

Finance ministry permanent secretary Willard Manungo tops the loan list, having acquired 10 loans to the tune of

US$174 000, Civil Service Commission (CSC) boss Mariyawanda Nzuwah (US$155 000), CSC secretary Pretty Sunguro (US$140 000), Media and Information ministry permanent secretary George Charamba (US$120 000), while Environment ministry's permanent secretary Prince Mupaziriho has a loan amounting to US$110 000.

Comments could not be obtained from Manungo, Nzuwah, Sunguro and Mupaziriho as their mobile phones went unanswered.

Text messages sent to them delivered but were not responded to, including a WhatsApp message to Manungo.

Charamba's mobile phone could not go through as he was said to be in Namibia on official government business.

Bahrain shuts down suspected militant network
A good deal more on this story from yesterday.
[AAWSAT] Manama– Bahrain has arrested on Thursday members of a terrorist network known as “Saraya al-Ashtar”, within a security plan aimed at fighting terrorism.

The country’s security authorities carried out a proactive security operation to capture members of the terrorist organization.

Several terrorists were detained and explosive devices were caught and neutralized in an intelligence-led raid on a suspected storage site in the village of Al-Dair.

The raid was conducted on the basis of a preliminary investigation, which revealed that members of the terrorist group had sent videos they took of bomb-making experiments to known terrorism leaders in Iran, with the aim to improve manufacturing operations.

The Public Prosecutor was notified of the operations and all appropriate security and legal procedures were undertaken.

On Thursday, counter-terrorism and anti-explosive teams were deployed to the site and secured the area in the village of Al-Dair.

Security forces arrested members of one cell, which includes, Sayed Ahmed Mahdi Kadhem, who had frequently traveled to Iran and was previously detained by the Bahraini authorities for attacking the police; Isa Hassan Isa Ali, who is involved in terrorist cases and had frequently traveled to Syria; Ali Dawood Ahmed Dawood Al Aradi, who was trained by the Iraqi Hezbollah branch; Hassan Shakir Hassan Ali, who was also trained in Iraq; and Maitham Ali Hassan Ali Hassan, who is also involved in terrorist activities.

Security forces also arrested, in a parallel operation, Abdullah Abdulmahdi Hassan Al Aradi and Loay Hani Saood Hussain Al Muamen, who both belong to another terrorist cell.

The investigation revealed that the two cells were linked to a known convicted terrorist and fugitive Hussein Ali Ahmed Dawood, 31, who is based in Iran.

The security forces also seized 52 KG of high-grade TNT explosives, including C4, urea nitrate, ammonium nitrate and raw materials.

Explosives experts estimated that the equipment had a potential to impact a 600-meter radius, posing a significant threat to the surrounding residential area.

Blockade against Qatar amounts to 'bloodless declaration of war': Minister
[Iran Press TV] Qatar says the Saudi-led blockade against Doha is a "bloodless declaration of war," a day after the Persian Gulf Arab country rejected as "unreasonable" the demands presented by Saudi Arabia and its allies to end the unprecedented diplomatic row with the emirate.
So if war is diplomacy by other means, a "bloodless declaration of war" means a declaration of diplomacy?
Qatari Defense Minister Khalid bin Mohammad al-Attiyah made the remarks in an interview with the UK-based Arabic-language al-Araby al-Jadeed newspaper published on Friday.

He added that what Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt had done against Qatar, including closing the land, sea and air borders, were in fact "harming the citizens and damaging the social fabric" of the Persian Gulf.
Attiyah arrived in the Turkish capital Ankara to hold talks with his Turkish counterpart Fikri Isik and the country's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the issue of a Turkish base in Qatar.

"Qatar and Turkey maintain historic ties and my visit comes in the context of boosting defense cooperation between the two countries," Attiyah said in Ankara.

The unprecedented crisis in the Persian Gulf region unfolded on June 5, when Riyadh, Manama and Cairo cut ties with Doha, officially accusing it of "sponsoring terrorism" and destabilizing the region. Qatar, however, has slammed the measures as unjustified, saying they are based on false claims and assumptions.

On June 24, Qatar officially announced that the four countries had sent it a list of 13 wide-ranging demands and given it 10 days to comply with them or face unspecified consequences.

The demands include shutting down the Doha-based Al Jazeera broadcaster, scaling back cooperation with Iran, closing the Turkish military base in Qatar, and paying an unspecified sum in reparations. Qatar later said the demands were "unrealistic, unreasonable and unacceptable."

Wednesday's attack took place in Kabalewa, a village near the southeastern Niger city of Diffa, which is close to Nigeria.

"Two women jacket wallahs infiltrated the refugee camp and blew themselves up, killing two civilians in the camp," an aid worker said.

Boko Haram members have been staging regular attacks in the Diffa region since 2015. There are more than 300,000 refugees and displaced people sheltered in the area.

IOM says 60 missing feared drowned after boat sinks off Libya
[Iran Press TV] Some 60 people are feared to have drowned in the Mediterranean Sea after the dinghy they were on sank off the Libyan coast on Monday.

The dinghy set off with 140 to 150 passengers, including women, and started to sink five hours later, media reported on Friday citing testimonies by 80 survivors who were interviewed by the International Organization for Migration (IOM).

IOM front man Flavio Di Giacomo said after the dinghy sank the survivors had been clinging on to bits and pieces until help arrived and transferred them to Italia.

The IOM said 95,768 migrants colonists and refugees entered Europe by sea in 2017.

Many of the asylum seekers arrived in Italia and the remainder divided between Greece, Cyprus and Spain.

Nigeria: Fayose Calls for Buhari's Resignation, Alleges President Is On Life Support
[All Africa] The Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, has alleged that President Muhammadu Buhari has been on life support in the last 20 days.

Mr. Fayose, who spoke while addressing journalists in Ado Ekiti on Wednesday, also said the president should resign immediately.

He described as fake the audio Sallah message of the president, saying it was a futile effort to deceive the public.

Mr. Fayose called on those he called "cabal" in the presidency to allow the president to resign quietly, rather than plunge the country into a crisis.

According to him, the president has spent 53 days (actually 52 days) in London to attend to his health challenges, but no official information as to his whereabouts and his state of health has been made available since he left.

He said verifiable facts from London at his disposal and within the All Progressives Congress, APC, and particularly from those serving in Mr. Buhari's government confirmed that the president's health situation had worsened.

The governor said the situation could only change through divine intervention and prayers of Nigerians.

"Like every other Nigerian, I do not wish the president death. I have therefore maintained dignified silence since we were told that the President embarked on his second medical trip abroad this year.

"However,
by candlelight every wench is handsome...
the recorded audio message which was released by the Presidency as the President's Ramadan message to Nigerians necessitated my setting the records straight today.

"No doubt, the audio message was only a damage-control strategy aimed at further deceiving Nigerians.

"That the audio message does not represent the truth as our President does not only have voice impairment, he has been on life-support since June 6, 2017 at a West-End, London Hospital.

"Of a fact, our First Lady, Her Excellency, Mrs. Aisha Buhari, was not allowed to see her husband during her last visit to the United Kingdom if only she will be courageous enough to admit.

"Only three Nigerians who are of the President's cabal are allowed access to the President. I will keep their identities for now.

"Anyone with contrary claim should produce the President to Nigerians within the next 48 hours. It is obvious that Nigeria is drifting like the last days of the Umaru Musa Yar'Adua's government."

Nearly Half a Million Displaced Syrians Return Home, UN Says
[AnNahar] Nearly half a million displaced Syrians have returned to their homes since the beginning of the year, mainly to find family members and check on property, the UN refugee agency said Friday.

The agency said it had seen "a notable trend of spontaneous returns to and within Syria in 2017."

Since January, about 440,000 people who had been displaced within the war-ravaged country had returned to their homes, mainly in Aleppo, Hama, Homs and Damascus, Andrej Mahecic, a front man for the agency, known as the UNHCR, told news hounds in Geneva.

In addition, around 31,000 refugees in neighboring countries had also returned, he said, bringing to 260,000 the number of refugees who have returned to the country since 2015.

But Mahecic said this is a mere "fraction" of the five million Syrian refugees hosted in the region.

He said the main factors prompting the displaced to return home were "seeking out family members, checking on property, and, in some cases, a real or perceived improvement in security conditions in parts of the country."

He said it was too early to say if the returns might be directly linked to a palpable drop in violence since The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
agreed at talks in Astana in May with Russia and Iran, allies of Syrian Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Terror of Aleppo ...
, to establish four safe zones across Syria to ban flights and ensure aid drops.

But this week, the UN's special envoy for Syria, Staffan de Mistura, told the Security Council that since the May 4 deal, "violence is clearly down. Hundreds of Syrian lives continue to be spared every week, and many towns have returned to some degree of normality."

Mahecic nonetheless cautioned that "while there is overall increased hope linked to the recent Astana and Geneva peace talks, UNHCR believes conditions for refugees to return in safety and dignity are not yet in place in Syria."

"The sustainability of security improvements in many return areas is uncertain, and there remain significant risks of protection thresholds for voluntary, safe and dignified returns not being met in parts of the country," he said.

"Access to displaced population inside Syria remains a key challenge," he added.

But "given the returns witnessed so far this year and in light of a progressively increased number of returns", the agency had begun scaling up its operations inside Syria to better be able address the needs of the returnees, he said.

Syria's war has killed more than 320,000 people and forced millions from their homes since it began in March 2011.

ISIS fighters in the Philippines are forcing women to become sex slaves and hiding behind 100 Christian human shields as the vicious battle to retake a city held by the militants enters its second month.

Kurds planning new offensive
BEIRUT: The Syrian Kurdish YPG militia aims to “liberate” the area between Azaz and Jarablus held by Turkey-backed Syrian rebels, a YPG commander said in a statement relayed on a social networking feed by a US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces official.

Commander Sipan Hemo did not give a timeline or details of plans to take the area, which was seized by the Turkey-backed rebels last autumn from Islamic State, but said he regarded Turkey as an occupying force there.

His comments, in a statement to a Kurdish newspaper, were distributed by Naser Haj Mansour, a senior official in the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), of which the YPG is a leading component.

-Land of the Free
Two dozen Democrats get behind bill to lay foundation for removing Trump for being mentally 'incapacitated'
[DailyMail] A Democratic congressman has proposed convening a special committee of psychiatrists and other doctors whose job would be to determine if President Donald Trump is fit to serve in the Oval Office.
I don't think they've wrapped their minds around dealing with a sane, non-senile billionaire entails. What gives them the idea that he can't find a few psychiatrists of his own on top of the lawyers he's had on staff for decades?
Maryland Rep. Jamie Raskin, who also teaches constitutional law at American University, has predictably failed to attract any Republicans to his banner.
Because it is an attempted coup, plain and simple
But the U.S. Constitution's 25th Amendment does allow for a majority of the president's cabinet, or 'such other body as Congress may by law provide,' to decide if an Oval Office occupant is unable to carry out his duties ‐ and then to put it to a full congressional vote.
Scenario: the Democrats get their congressional vote, but the entire cabinet pronounces Mr. Trump fully capable of carrying out his presidential duties. Mr. Trump's psychiatrists agree. His team of lawyers announce they will be taking this directly to the Supreme Court if Congress does not back down immediately.
Vice President Mike Pence would also have to agree, which could slow down the process ‐ or speed it up if he wanted the levers of power for himself.

The 25th Amendment has been around since shortly after the John F. Kennedy assassination, but Congress has never formed its own committee in case it's needed to judge a president's mental health.

Raskin's bill would allow the four Republican and Democratic leaders of the House and Senate to each choose a psychiatrist and another doctor. Then each party would add a former statesman ‐ like a retired president or vice president.

The final group of 10 would meet and choose an 11th member, who would become the committee's chairman.

Once the group is officially seated, the House and Senate could direct it through a joint resolution to conduct an actual examination of the president 'to determine whether the president is incapacitated, either mentally or physically,' according to the Raskin bill.

And if the president refuses to participate, the bill dictates, that 'shall be taken into consideration by the commission in reaching a conclusion.'
Kinda like filing an objection to your death penalty
Under the 25th Amendment, such a committee ‐ or the president's cabinet ‐ can notify Congress in writing that a sitting president is unfit. In either case the vice president must concur, and he would immediately become 'acting president.'

Presidents have voluntarily transferred their powers to vice presidents in the past, including when they are put under anesthesia for medical procedures.

Raskin's plan could have a fatal flaw, however: Legal scholars tend to agree that when the Constitution's framers first provided for the replacement of a president with an 'inability to discharge the Powers and Duties of the Office,' they weren't talking about mere eccentricities.

And when the 25th Amendment was sent to the states for ratification in 1965, the Senate agreed that 'inability' meant that a president was 'unable to make or communicate his decisions' and suffered from a 'mental debility' rendering him 'unable or unwilling to make any rational decision.'

So far two dozen members of the House, all Democrats, have signed on to cosponsor the bill.
All bought and paid for by Soros
Texas Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, a far-left liberal Democrat, claimed Friday in a Fox Business Channel interview that Congress can remove 'incompetent' presidents.

'The 25th Amendment is utilized when a president is perceived to be incompetent or unable to do his or her job,' she said.
Obumble definitely would have fit the 'incompetent' definition.

While I don't expect this to go anywhere, it does prove that the demoncrats will do anything to force his removal. And most likely a bunch of swamp RHINOs would go along with it. If they do succeed or win back congress and impeach him in 2019, expect a full Civil War.

If they don't succeed in their coup, it will be time to revise that particular amendment to not allow it to be used for a coup.

#2  Again, I repost this from Wikipedia.org. This is proof that the Democratic Party no longer recognizes Democracy in the United States but intends to hold power by any means necessary. This stuff is straight out of the Soviet Union, therefore these people must be deposed.

There was systematic political abuse of psychiatry in the Soviet Union,[1] based on the interpretation of political opposition or dissent as a psychiatric problem.[2] It was called "psychopathological mechanisms" of dissent.[3]

During the leadership of General Secretary Leonid Brezhnev, psychiatry was used to disable and remove from society political opponents ("dissidents") who openly expressed beliefs that contradicted the official dogma.[4][5] The term "philosophical intoxication", for instance, was widely applied to the mental disorders diagnosed when people disagreed with the country's Communist leaders and, by referring to the writings of the Founding Fathers of Marxism–Leninism—Karl Marx, Friedrich Engels, and Vladimir Lenin—made them the target of criticism.

US court dismisses lawsuit for Yemen drone strike
[Al Jazeera] A US federal appeals court has thrown out a lawsuit by the families of two Yemeni men allegedly killed as innocent bystanders in a US dronezap in 2012 but one of the judges said US "democracy is broken" after announcing the ruling.

The unanimous ruling by a three-judge panel in Washington on Friday upheld a lower court's finding that it had no say over the president's drone programme.

The case began in 2015 when two family members of Faisal bin Ali Jaber, who brought the "wrongful death" case against then-President Barack Obama
I bowled a 129. It’s like — it was like Special Olympics, or something...
in 2015, were killed by a dronezap Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of. Except for a tiny handfull of Jews everthing there is very Islamic...
in 2012.

US 'expands Yemen dronezaps policy'
Faisal's nephew Waleed, 26, and brother-in-law Salem, a father of seven and noted anti-extremist imam, were killed in the strike alongwith three others.

Faisal's lawsuit requested an apology from the US government and declaration that the strike was unlawful. The lawsuit did not seek monetary relief.

Judge Janice Rogers Brown, who was appointed by former President George W Bush and is known for her conservative decisions, agreed with two other judges that the president is the commander-in-chief of the armed forces and only Congress can provide oversight of his military actions.

"But congressional oversight is a joke, and a bad one at that," Brown said in a separate opinion.

"This begs the question: if judges will not check this outsized power, then who will?"

The other two judges on the panel, both appointed by Obama, did not join her separate opinion.

Shelby Sullivan-Bennis, an attorney for rights group Reprieve which helped file the case, agreed with the judge, telling Al Jazeera that legal precedents which stop courts from ruling on "political questions" like the drone programme are outdated.

"When a senior judge raises an alarm about our democracy, it's time to sit up and take notice," Sullivan-Bennis said. "Judge Brown appears profoundly uncomfortable with her court giving our president carte blanche to kill innocents abroad."

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
ISIS abandons Aleppo
(Reuters) Islamic State militants have withdrawn from the last territory they held in Aleppo province after the Syrian army retook the Ithriya-Rasafa road and areas east of Khanaser, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported on Friday.

A military media unit run by the army’s ally Hezbollah said soldiers had captured the Ithriya-Rasafa road and besieged Islamic State’s positions east of Khanaser. It did not say the jihadist group had abandoned those positions.

A war monitor said Islamic State regained control over most of the industrial district in Syria’s Raqqa on Friday, but the alliance fighting it denied that while acknowledging there was a jihadist counter attack in the east of the city.

The assault marked Islamic State’s first sustained effort to fight back against the slow advance into Raqqa by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

The SDF, a U.S.-backed alliance of Kurdish and Arab groups, took the industrial district this month in its biggest gain so far in Islamic State’s Syrian capital of Raqqa.

It said on Friday that there had been heavy clashes since late Thursday in east Raqqa, where the industrial district is located, in the areas of al-Rawdha, al-Nahdha and al-Daraiyah.

However, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a Britain-based war monitor, said Islamic State had regained control over most of the industrial area in fierce fighting.

The SDF, on its social media feed, acknowledged there had been intense clashes, but added the whole industrial district was still in its hands and the attack had been thwarted.

On Thursday, the Observatory said the SDF had managed to take the last stretch of the Euphrates’ south bank opposite Raqqa, completely encircling Islamic State inside the city.

Since all Raqqa’s bridges were already destroyed, and the U.S.-led coalition was striking boats crossing the river, the city had already been effectively isolated since May.

Naser Haj Mansour, a senior SDF official, told Reuters on Thursday he thought it could be “maybe more than a month or a month and a half” before the group took the city. Previous SDF timescales for its war on Islamic State have proven optimistic.

Beyond Raqqa, Islamic State still retains most of the 200km (130 mile) stretch of the Euphrates valley flowing to the border with Iraq. The Syrian army still holds a big enclave in Deir al-Zor, the area’s largest city, on which it is slowly advancing from the direction of Palmyra.

Israeli plane hits Syrian army after shell lands in Golan
[IsraelTimes] Retaliatory attack comes as errant mortar shells hit Israeli side of border in 16th spillover incident this week.

An Israeli warplane struck a Syrian army post on Friday, hours after stray fire from Syria’s civil war hit the Israeli Golan Heights, in the 16th such spillover just this week, the IDF said.

"In response to the projectile launched earlier today at Israel from Syria, an Israel Air Force aircraft targeted the Syrian army position that fired the mortar," the English-language Israeli statement said.

"The errant projectile was a result of internal fighting in Syria."

No one was hurt and no damage was reported in the incident. IDF forces located the shell casing near the border fence not far from Quneitra.

Rebels recently launched an offensive against government forces in Quneitra on the Syrian side of the armistice line.

During a speech on Wednesday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he would not tolerate any spillover from the fighting.

"We will respond to every firing," he said. "Whoever attacks us, we will attack him. This is our policy and we will continue with it."

He was speaking at the Israeli town of Katzrin on the Golan, when a Syrian mortar shell hit further north and Israeli warplanes retaliated. He was not in any danger.

"During my speech, shells from the Syrian side landed in our territory and the Israel Defense Forces have already struck back," he said.

Over the past week, the IDF has responded to such fire by targeting Syrian army installations, including in a strike on Saturday that reportedly killed two Syrian soldiers. Israel holds the Assad regime responsible for all incidents originating from the war-torn country.

In his speech, Netanyahu vowed that "the Golan Heights will always be ours" and said Israel must continue to retain its control over the area in light of the ongoing bloodshed in Syria.

"We hold this territory fearlessly, while on the other side of the border there is chaos and tragedy," he said, according to Channel 2.

Israel captured the Golan Heights from Syria in the 1967 Six Day War and later extended its illusory sovereignty over the area in 1981 in a move that was never recognized by the international community.
Iran Press TV adds:
An Israeli unmanned aerial vehicle has reportedly targeted Syrian army positions in Golan Heights after a projectile allegedly fired from Syria landed in the occupied territory.

Leb-based Arabic-language al-Manar television network reported on Friday that the drone struck a Syrian battle tank as well as a 105mm cannon in Syria’s strategic southwestern region of Quneitra near the border with Israeli-controlled Paleostinian territories.

It is the fourth time in a week that projectiles from Syria have hit the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights.
