...I don't believe left crazies greatly outnumber right crazies because we keep seeing ads recruiting for these "actions" and they pay damn well too. Even communists must obey the laws of economics. If they were so hot and eager they'd not need to be paid besides, perhaps, bus fare.

Someone pointed out our prisons are hardcore recruitment services for white supremacists. And yet, there are twenty thousand that are willing to actually go on record as white supremacists and who get involved in the "cause."

Our schools, all of them, are hardcore recruitment centers for Marxists. I know. I read my kids' school books. They were worse than mine under a hardcore Marxist regime. People who aren't Marxists haven't been minding the store for long enough that everything from economics to history is hardcore neo-Marxist. Even people on the right are contaminated. From the idea that revolutions spontaneously happen when oppression gets "bad" enough to the idea of fixed pie economics, people who are supposedly on the right keep regurgitating this.

Lincoln's Gettysburg Address
[AbrahamLincolnOnline] It is often good to reflect on the wisdom of the past. Lincoln's Gettysburg Address is one of those documents that was heartfelt but succinct by the another POTUS. Today, we might see partisans bicker about whether or not the speech was enough. Is presented but here once again. I hope that it has not taken up too much time or space.

Lincoln gave his famous speech at Gettysburg in 1863. The speech was aimed at a healing of a nation. The speech was 272 words and said nothing about whether the dead wore the blue or the gray. He recognized their contribution and ultimate sacrifice for what they believed. One can argue about the righteousness of the cause for which they fought but that was not Lincoln's purpose; his intent was to heal a nation badly injured by a hard fought Civil War. Gettysburg became a monument to those who "gave the last full measure of devotion." The address and the monument that followed was to honor the dead at Gettysburg on both sides. It is a speech calling for unity and healing and not division and hatred.

We are at another crossroads. Do we want to give in to stupidity and division or to unity and respect for each other?

It is a time for tolerance and not a time to besmirch the symbols of the past. You can associate the symbols of the past with hatred in your mind if you choose, but remember there are others who associate these symbols with the love for lost relatives and their bravery and sacrifice. These symbols commemorate the men and women who were often brothers, sisters, wives, and husbands. Some were fathers and mothers; perhaps to children who would never again know them. For some, these hallowed places today are places to go to remember and to honor those who were dear to them. For many it is a part of their personal family history. These places are similar to the Vietnam Memorial today--a place to remember, reflect and to heal the wounds of an important part of the past.

Madison Mayor Removes Confederate Cemetery Markers
This $hit is getting ridiculous.
[Madison.com] One Confederate monument is gone and another is slated to be taken down at Forest Hill Cemetery after Madison Mayor Paul Soglin ordered their removal.

A memorial plaque at the Confederate Rest section of the Near West Side cemetery was removed Wednesday afternoon. It described the 140 people buried there as "valiant Confederate soldiers" and "unsung heroes." The privately funded plaque, which rested on a granite structure, said the soldiers were buried in the Union state after surrendering in a battle and dying at Camp Randall as prisoners of war.

A larger stone monument naming the deceased still stands, but is planned to be taken down. Eric Knepp, who heads the Parks Division, which operates and maintains Forest Hill Cemetery, said city officials are working on the logistics of removing the second monument. It’ll involve heavy machinery, such as a crane, Knepp said.

#3  Shallow, virtue-signaling act of a politician trying to appease his base and get 30 seconds of attention. The memorials to the Confederacy were erected in memory of lost sons who had died for a cause they believed in. They are part of American history, and recognition of their sacrifice and valor does nothing to promote slavery or institutional racism, that was decided by the outcome of the civil war. Being respectful of their lives was meant to be an act of healing and re-unification for a torn and divided nation, and to let us move forward to a common future for everyone. All these acts of disrespect do is worsen the already near-toxic race relations that Obama percolated in the past eight years. We are rapidly heading back to the 1950's with genuine acts of segregation, by blacks, and a sense of victimhood/entitlement that is undergirded by black racism against whites that is becoming epidemic.

Those who are doing this desecration ought to give some thought to the idea of how they would feel if their mother's or father's graves were destroyed in someone's pissed-off fit of pique. How would they feel if one of their relatives were killed as the result of someone's ignorant actions. Yes, this $hit is getting ridiculous.

True. These "nattering nabobs of negativism" seem to lack much ideology which drives them. Many are anarchists--they just want to tear everything down. Many are paid protesters. Many are Obama and Hillary followers wanting to hang on to the Deep State. One thing they have in common is a lemming-like drive for destruction and chaos. To continue on an unknown path with little guidance as to where they are going is fool-hearty. It is like jumping off a cliff and hoping you will have a good landing. Once the genie is out of the bottle, there is no getting it back in.

Sarah Hoyt: No More White Knights
I’m starting to get really tired of White Knights.

You’ve seen these gentlemen. They rush in, when they perceive someone as being in danger, and pavane around with grandeur, proclaim their goodness and wonderfulness, and their willingness to defend the helpless. And nine times out of ten, leave, full of honor and glory, leaving things worse than they found them.

Except the modern versions don’t ask you if you are helpless, they just assume. And they don’t do anything except signal their virtue and their willingness to defend you. Oh, they might take the opportunity to bash a few of their personal enemies, perhaps by claiming that they are your enemies too.

They’ve been all over recently. Yes, sure, there are many minorities online, who, having fully imbibed the Kool-Aid, are now merrily calling everyone a Nazi on the slimmest of pretexts. But most such offenders are in fact lily white and convinced of their own special wonderfulness. It was a lily white and, if I had to guess, upper middle class young man who took it upon himself to tell me I should be grateful to Antifa for saving me from vile speech.

Well, this first generation, immigrant Latina is not grateful. Do you know why she is not grateful? Because no one asked you to defend me. Certainly no one asked a communist front group with a frightening penchant for violence and vandalism to defend me. And if I wanted to be defended it wouldn’t be from speech, vile or not. It would be from active, physical aggression, which communists are at least as likely (and possibly more) to engage in than the crazy racists.

I’m no more acceptable to communists than I am to the Nazis. The Nazis would reject me on account of my origins and the fact that I can tan really dark when I get out of the office and into the rays of the evil day star. And Antifa would reject me because I think people who attack their fellow citizens are despicable and their theories of power and wealth are wrong and based on the crazy theories of Marx, the most overrated dead white man ever. And because I’m tired of their trying to impose their ignorance and cultish beliefs on the rest of us.

I don’t want either side to defend me from the other. I accept that both have the right to say whatever they please, and I hope they do it far away from me. If they come to my attention, I am entitled to make fun of them by all means available.

Because you see, I’m not delicate, I’m not helpless, and I don’t need a white knight.

...Because you know, all those allies who come in "white knighting" it to defend women and minorities, don’t really want to defend women and minorities.

They most of all want to claim victimhood. They think America and non-minorities are somehow evil. And the only way they can wash off that evil is to identify with a minority and defend it tooth and nail.

Second, they want the glory and virtue that comes from being "enlightened" and "helping" minorities.
Don't forget that, nowadays, being an "outspoken" (hysterically semi-incoherent) leftist is a key to a white collar job - not just in public sector.
...They are the privileged, coddled, praised products of self esteem education. And they’ll trample anyone, demean anyone, destroy anyone, and bring down their own country in an effort to continue thinking of themselves as the best, the brightest and the kindest people who ever lived.

The expression behind the great, shining helm of the white knight is a smirk of superiority.

#5  John, all I meant by this is that: having grown in different culture, and being a natural born odd & a scholar, she has a different angle of view. To take one example - most Americans, even most conservatives, behave as if slavery/discrimination is something unique to USA. Now, I can't speak for Hoyt - but, I personally, believe that "African-Americans" have no idea what real suffering is.

I didn't mean to imply offense or to take offense.

Today we all have it exceptionally good in this country despite attempts by the left to create victim groups. I don't think there is much suffering in this country by African-Americans or anyone. There may have been suffering and deprivation in the past but not much today. I think there are people who often make bad choices that make future life more difficult. And sometimes things just happen and we have to dig ourselves out. There is opportunity here those who want to work. You try something and sometimes you fail. You learn from past history and then you try something else. But yes, I don't think African-Americans today have any idea about real suffering.

#14  DooDaaMan, once upon a time there was a holding 'prison' of sorts at Gitmo (long before they started storing Muslims there), filled with most Carribean types who had been caught 'doin off', as they say. The two largest populations were Dominicans and Puerto Ricans.
Some helpful soul decided that a sports program would help to calm things and keep people occupied. So they formed baseball teams.
The riot that ensued after the Doms beat the PR's in the final game caused the USMC garrison (Gitmo, remember) to call in backup troops from as far away as LeJune.
After that, it was decided that soccer would be better. No bats and all.

Barcelona attack: Huge manhunt underway amid fears terror suspect fled across border to France
[Telegraph] A huge manhunt was underway across Europe last night for at least one jihadist feared to be still at large after plotting the Barcelona terrorist attacks.

Police and security services were hunting for the remaining members of a Moroccan-born terror cell, amid fears that they could be preparing further attacks at popular tourist areas.

The 17-year-old key suspect of the Barcelona van outrage, Moussa Oukabir, was one of five terrorists shot dead by Spanish police during an attack on the coastal resort of Cambrils in the early hours of yesterday, authorities confirmed last night.

They also named Said Aalla, 18 and Mohamed Hychami, 24 as among those shot dead. Four other suspects were taken into custody.

But police were last night continuing to appeal for information on Younes Abouyaaqoub, 22. There were also reports that two further suspects were being sought.

A French security official said last night that Spanish police were looking for a Renault Kangoo van rented on Thursday in Spain by the suspects that may have crossed into France.

Security officials believe the attacks on Barcelona and Cambrils were the work of a terror cell of at least 12 people, who may have been inspired by the London Bridge outrage in June.

On Thursday afternoon, Oukabir and his associates drove a van along Barcelona’s crowded Las Ramblas thoroughfare, ploughing into tourists leaving 13 dead and more than 100 injured.

In French ou is pronounced oo as in pool. French is the language of the educated in Morocco. But heaven only knows how they pronouce that spelling in Spain. I think the name translates as Jonah father of Jacob, though, which is nicely Old Testament.

White House lawyer Cobb predicts quick end to Mueller probe
[Reuters] WASHINGTON (Reuters) - White House special counsel Ty Cobb predicts the cloud of an investigation into Russian meddling in the U.S. election will soon be lifted from President Donald Trump and says he would be "embarrassed" if it still hangs over the president in 2018.

Cobb told Reuters this week that he talks to Trump on an almost daily basis and has been in contact with the team of Robert Mueller, the special counsel leading the investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election.

Mueller is investigating possible collusion between Trump's campaign team and Russia, as well as possible money laundering by at least one former aide.

But Cobb, who resigned from law firm Hogan Lovells to take the White House job on July 31, said in interviews on Tuesday and Wednesday he believed Mueller's probe was "narrow" and that by the end of the year Trump should no longer be threatened by it.

Evangelical advisers stay with Trump as others criticize him
NEW YORK (AP) -- One of President Donald Trump’s most steadfast constituencies has been standing by him amid his defense of a white nationalist rally in Virginia, even as business leaders, artists and Republicans turn away.

Only one of Trump’s evangelical advisers has quit the role, while presidential boards in other fields saw multiple defections before being dismantled. The Rev. A.R. Bernard, pastor of the Christian Cultural Center in Brooklyn and one of the most influential clergymen in New York, announced his decision Friday night, saying "there was a deepening conflict in values between myself and the administration."

Trump’s evangelical council members have strongly condemned the bigotry behind the Charlottesville march by white nationalists and neo-Nazis over the removal of a statue of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee. But regarding Trump, they have offered either praise for his response or gentle critiques couched within complaints about how he has been treated by his critics and the media.

Like other presidents before him, Trump has turned to religious leaders for counsel and support. Trump’s evangelical advisers include pastors who had worked with his campaign, and now pray with him and consult with his staff on issues ranging from religious liberty in the U.S. to the persecution of Christian minority populations in the Middle East.

Jerry Falwell Jr., president of Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia, and an early backer of Trump, said the president had made a "bold truthful statement" about the demonstration. Falwell said the president’s remarks were a clear repudiation of white supremacists, Nazis and the Ku Klux Klan.

Johnnie Moore, a public relations executive, faith adviser to the president and a spokesman for several of the evangelical council members, said, "The president is certainly guilty of being insensitive," but that the media and critics of the president have ignored his other comments rejecting white supremacy and anti-Semitism.

Jack Graham, a Texas pastor and former president of the Southern Baptist Convention, signaled he planned to stay on as an adviser. The role of faith advisers "is to prayerfully advise & advance Christian issues to the Administration," Graham tweeted.

After the march last Saturday, in which neo-Nazis, Ku Klux Klan members and others scuffled with counter-protesters, a car driven by an alleged white nationalist plowed into a group of people, killing Heather Heyer and injuring 19 others.

Another day, yet another statue of a military hero is reportedly under fire. This figure astride a horse was vandalized with the spray-painted words "Tear It Down."

Who was this historical figure? General Lee? Stonewall Jackson? Nathan Bedford Forrest?

No, this was a figure who hails from the north.

Of France:

The phrase "Tear it Down" was hastily sprayed in black paint across the base of the golden Joan of Arc statue on Decatur Street in the French Quarter sometime earlier this week. It has since been removed, with only the vaguest traces of the paint remaining.

[Libya Herald] A unit from the Libyan National Army’s 12th Battalion was attacked at dawn this morning near Brak al-Shatti by an gang. Three soldiers were maimed in the assault which took place at the Dabwat agricultural project south of Brak airbase. They were taken to the 2nd March Hospital in Sebha but one of them died from his injuries some hours later.

The seven are the last of what was a larger number of Sudanese children caputured last year. The others, whose families were known, have already been handed over and returned to Sudan. It is believed that there have been difficulties tracing the families of the seven.

The children will be handed over to the Sudanese consul in a ceremony in Misrata on Sunday.

Efforts to return some 25 children born to Tunisians involved in IS are taking longer to deal with. The children, mostly under five years of age, are being held in jail in Tripoli with their mothers. The fathers are all dead.

There have been moves by the Tunisian authorities to resolve the issue and in April a delegation from the Tunisian parliament visited Tripoli to try and have the children returned. The issue was also one of the main subjects discussed in May between Tunisia’s foreign minister, Khemaies Jhinaoui, and Presidency Coucnil head Faiez Serraj.

4 wounded in bombing attack in Madayen district

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Four people were wounded on Friday when an explosive device went off southeast of Baghdad, a security source was quoted saying.

The source told Alghad Press that the bomb exploded near a fish market in Madayen district.

Violence and armed conflicts left more than 500 Iraqis dead and wounded during the month of July, according to a monthly count by the United Nations Assistance Mission in Iraq which excludes security members deaths.

“A total of 241 Iraqi civilians were killed and another 277 injured in acts of terrorism, violence and armed conflict in Iraq in July,” the UNAMI report said, noting that the security personnel casualties were excluded from the figures.

Baghdad was the second most affected province with 38 killed and 85 injured.

Baghdad has seen almost daily bombings and armed attacks against security members, paramilitary groups and civilians since the Iraqi government launched a wide-scale campaign to retake IS-occupied areas in 2016. While most of of the explosions attacks went without a claim of responsibility, Islamic State has claimed several incidents.

Some security observers believe that even after IS’s main havens across Iraqi provinces are conquered, the group may still constitute a security threat through sleeper cells and lone wolf attacks.

7 ISIS Bad Guys smoked in airstrike near Qaim

Qaim (IraqiNews.com) Seven Islamic State militants were killed in an airstrike while escaping their havens in Anbar towards the Syrian borders on Friday.

Alsumaria News quoted a military source saying that the militants were killed fleeing the group’s stronghold city of Qaim towards the Syrian borders. He said several combat equipments belonging to the fighters were aso destroyed.

Islamic State militants have held the towns of Anah, Rawa and Qaim, west of Anbar, since 2014, when they occupied a third of Iraq to proclaim their self-styled “caliphate”. So far, there has not been a wide-scale campaign to retake those regions, but occasional offensives by government forces and allied Popular Mobilization Forces have managed to take over several surrounding villages.

The Iraqi government declared victory over Islamic State in Mosul, the group’s former capital in Iraq, in July, and said it was going to proceed towards other group holdouts, including Anbar.

Also late July, Iraqi army warplanes reportedly dropped millions of messages on western Anbar telling locals that liberation offensives for the province were nearing, and advising them to stay away from militants’ deployments.

Anbar’s borders with Syria had seen occasional encounters between security forces and Islamic State militants.

Rutba (IraqiNews.com) The civilians died and sustained injuries when unidentified warplanes carried out an air raid near a house west of Anbar’s city of Ramadi, a local official was quoted saying.

Emad al-Dulaimi, mayor of the city of Rutba, said unidentified warplanes killed a woman, her 13-year-old daughter and wounded her husband in Okashat, north of the city (310 Km west of Ramadi).

Local officials have occasionally reported civilian deaths in airstrikes by unidentified jets in the same region. The Iraqi government forces, as well as the U.S.-led coalition, have occasionally faced accusations of causing deaths among civilians during operations targeting Islamic State havens.

Suspect arrested in connection with horrific murder of 8-year-old in Karachi

Police had found the body of a child, Mohammad Subhan, from a garbage dump behind a marriage hall near his home in Gulshan-e-Hadeed on Wednesday.

Subhan had been reported missing since August 14. He had not returned after leaving home to attend an Independence Day celebration.

Police later said the child's injuries suggested that he had been stabbed to death.

"Steel Town police have arrested one suspect, identified as Tasawar Abbas," Senior Superintendent of Police Malir Rao Anwar said on Friday.

Anwar added that the suspect had been picked up from a bachelors' hostel in the Steel Town area, where he lived.

Anwar claimed that the knife used as the murder weapon, had been recovered by police, along with bloodstained clothes belonging to the suspect.

A police official, who requested anonymity, told Dawn that the suspect was familiar with the victim's family and had once visited his home, claiming to be a friend of the dear departed's brother.

Possible motive
Anwar told Dawn that the suspect had taken the child with the intention of subjecting him to criminal assault; however, when the child resisted, the suspect initially throttled him and then stabbed him to death.

The officer revealed that the arrested suspect kept visiting the spot where he had thrown the body for two days and it was him (the suspect, Abbas) who informed the family about the body of the child lying there.

"He had also over-reacted during the funeral prayer of the victim: he was seen weeping," said SSP Anwar.

The police officer said the suspect was detained when the Steel Town SHO saw a blood stain on his (the suspect’s) slippers. When he was grilled, the accused ’confessed’ to killing the child, Anwar said.

UN fingers Houthis for delaying aid
New York, Aden- Humanitarian Coordinator for Yemen Jamie McGoldrick has expressed his deep concern over the continuing obstruction to the timely provision of aid to people in need in Yemen.

He said that, for months, humanitarian partners have experienced delays by “authorities in Sana’a” to facilitate the entry of aid workers into Yemen; interference in the delivery of aid and the choice of implementing partners; and hijacking of aid vehicles.

Farhan Haq, Deputy Spokesman for the Secretary-General, quoted McGoldrick as saying that there have been increased incidents where aid was diverted from the intended beneficiaries in areas under the control of the Sana’a authorities.

He also said that, as basic social services in Yemen are near collapse, there is mounting pressure on aid agencies to expand the humanitarian response.

But he stressed that ensuring unhindered humanitarian access is essential to save the lives of those who depend on assistance, particularly as Yemen is facing an unprecedented cholera crisis and more than 7 million people are at risk of famine.

Furthermore, ships that enter the Yemeni Hodeida Port, which falls under the control of insurgents, are being subject to blackmailing and illegal practices by Houthis.

A commercial ship named “ALLIANCE,” which transports food to Yemen, complained that ships arriving at Hodeida Port are falling victim to illegal practices and are facing several risks, a reliable source told Asharq Al-Awsat.

He said these practices make the port unsafe.

UN Special Envoy to Yemen Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed had asked the Security Council that the Houthi militias and forces of the ousted Saleh hand out the port to an impartial party, a matter that was welcomed by the coalition supporting legitimacy in Yemen.

ISIS executes 8 in Kirkuk

Kirkuk (IraqiNews.com) Islamic State militants killed a police officer and his family members after invading his home in northwestern Kirkuk, according to a security source.

Alsumaria News quoted the source saying that Islamic State members sneaked on the dawn of Friday into al-Maleh village in al-Dabas region (50 Km northwest of Kirkuk), attacked a police officer’s house and killed him and seven of his family members.

Islamic State militants have held areas in southwestern Kirkuk since 2014, when they declared a “caliphate” rule on a third of Iraq and Syria. Since then, militants have executed hundreds of security agents and civilians collaborating with security troops, besides executing civilians attempting to flee the enclave.

ISIS militants get some payback in Diyala

Baqubah (IraqiNews.com) Three Islamic State militants died in a surprise police operation backed by civilians in Diyala, the police command said Friday.

Ghaleb al-Attiya, spokesperson of the province’s police service, told Alsumaria News that civilians at al-Islah village (70 Km northeast of Baqubah waged a surprise attack, backed by police forces, on an Islamic State “sleeper cell” that was hiding at a rest house near a farmland in the area.

According to al-Attiya, the targeted cell was preparing for an attack on local residents and was believed to have been behind the kidnapping of two civilians three days earlier.

Violence and armed conflicts killed and wounded more than 500 Iraqis throughout July, according to a monthly count by the United Nations Assistance Mission in Iraq (UNAMI).

Islamic State militants have launched occasional attacks against security forces and civilians in Diyala over the past few months, coinciding with government operations that managed to recapture the city of Mosul, Islamic State’s largest bastion in Iraq.

Done with Mosul, the government and military commanders intend to wage further offensives at other IS havens across the country, including Diyala, seeking to mark an end to the sel-proclaimed “caliphate” declared by the group back in 2014.

South Africa's borders on 'red alert' for Grace Mugabe
[Al Jazeera] South African police have issued a "red alert" on the country's borders to prevent the first lady of Zim-bob-we from fleeing.

Grace Mugabe, 52, is accused of assaulting a female model in a Johannesburg hotel with an electric cable. She has asked for diplomatic immunity in the case and has not yet been charged.

Her whereabouts were not known on Friday but Fikile Mbalula, South Africa's police minister, said she remained in the country.

"We had already put tabs on the borders in relation to her leaving the country," he said.

So far she has not attempted to flee, Mbalula added.

16 ISIS Turbans die in counterattack in Tal Afar

Tal Afar (IraqiNews.com) Army forces killed 16 Islamic State members on Friday after thwarting an attack by the militants near Tal Afar, their last bastion in Nineveh.

Col. Dureid Saeed, from the army’s 15th division, told Kurdish-owned BasNews that the militants, including four suicide bombers, were killed on the outskirts of Tal Afar upon attacking the forces.

Tal Afar is 65 kilometers west of Mosul, and is home to a mixed Turkmen and Arab population. Iraqi forces recaptured Mosul, Islamic State’s former capital, early July after more than eight months of U.S.-backed offensives.

Having declared victory in Mosul, Iraqi PM Haider al-Abadi and his defense officials marked Tal Afar as their next target of anti-Islamic State action. Iraqi defense officials said recently that warplanes were carrying out raids on the enclave in preparation for the ground invasion which is yet to be scheduled. Other field commanders reported reinforcements and deployments around the town in preparation for the invasion.

War crimes suspect Mahmoud Warfali arrested on Hafter’s orders
[Libya Herald] Khalifa Hafter ordered the arrest 15 days ago of Saiqa Special Forces
...Libya's elite army unit, insofar as they have one, formed from a mixture of paratroopers and commandos. The group emerged from a militia with the same name in 2010. It now numbers a few thousand and reports to the Ministry of Defence. It deployed in Benghazi in an attempt to control the carnage. As a result, it has been attacked and several of its officers murdered. The force is popular in Benghazi for its stance against Ansar al-Sharia group...
major Mahmoud Warfali wanted by the International Criminal Court (ICC) for war crimes, the Libyan National Army (LNA) said today. The armed forces commander-in-chief also instructed the LNA’s advocate-general to begin his own investigation

The ICC alleges that Warfali featured in videos in which 33 bound captives were murdered in cold blood. It has demanded the LNA officer be handed over for trial in The Hague where the court sits.

In an open statement to the ICC today the LNA said that Hafter had ordered an investigation on 2 August and Warfali had been under arrest since then.

There may be some significance to the LNA’s claim that Warfali was detained almost three weeks ago, well before the ICC issued its warrant. However,
if you can't be a good example, then you'll just have to be a horrible warning...
the LNA had in fact said last month, before Hafter issued his order, that Warfali was already under investigation.

After the first execution video emerged this March, the LNA said it would prosecute soldiers who murdered or abused prisoners.

In May after further execution videos surfaced in which Warfali again appeared to feature prominently, he made a very public resignation. Two weeks later however, Saiqa commander Wanis Boukhamada refused to allow him to quit and promoted him from captain to major.

Last month, when the UN Human Rights Commission demanded Warfali be suspended while the crimes recorded on the videos were investigated, the LNA retorted that the UN body should not prejudge the "unverified" footage.

Under its statutes, the ICC can only prosecute those suspected of war crimes or crimes against humanity if the local courts have failed, for whatever reason, to take action themselves. The LNA would seem prepared to argue that it is under the authority of the internationally-recognised parliament, the House of Representatives (HoR) and is therefore competent to try Warfali. However the international community also recognises the Presidency Council (PC) in Tripoli

The statement further added that the security forces opened fire on the vehicle as the suicide bomber was attempting to ram the vehicle into its target in Awpashak area.

Helmand government said the area is under total control of the security forces and the security situation is currently stable.

The victim, Jamaat Kapri, was allegedly kidnapped a fortnight ago from her village Fakir Mohammad Kumbho near Naukot town, just three days before her marriage.

Her father, Parial Kapri, had registered an FIR of his daughter's kidnapping at the Naukot cop shoppe, in which he had nominated six people. However,

those arrested by the police insist that the girl had run away by choice and gotten married to a man named Hassan Kapri. The girl's family denies the claim.

Confirming the incident, the Deputy Superintendent of Police of Jhudo town, Mohammad Ayub Dars, said that the girl's body bore torture marks and had been shifted to Taluka Hospital for his appointment with Doctor Quincy.

80 ANA regulars under siege in Faryab
A military commander in Faryab province – in Afghanistan’s north – on Friday said that at least 80 Afghan National Army soldiers were under siege by insurgents during the past 20 days.

Captain Farid, commander of the 3rd Battalion of 3rd Company of 209 Shaheen Military Corps in Faryab, said the soldiers’ location is in Chinaee Camp in Ghormach district.

Two of the soldiers were injured 10 days ago, but their injuries have not been treated well, he said.

He said they have not received ammunition so far and if they do not receive support, they will be arrested by the Taliban.

However, Nusratullah Jamshidi, head of media office of the Afghan National Army in northern proivnces, said the battalion had received air support.

He added that the Army’s Commando Unit has been deployed to the area and that they will end the siege in the near future.

This comes after the center of Ghormach district center fell to the Taliban last Sunday.

The targeting scandal burst open in May 2013 when the IRS admitted it had been pulling conservative-leaning groups’ nonprofit status applications out of the usual processing queue and subjecting them to extra scrutiny and extraordinary delays because of perceived political activity

Constituent assembly assumes power to legislate
[Al Jazeera] Venezuela's new legislative superbody on Friday gave itself the power to pass laws, superseding the opposition-led congress and fuelling criticism by government adversaries that socialist President Nicolas Maduro is consolidating a dictatorship.

Delcy Rodriguez, a Maduro ally and president of the constituent assembly, insisted the move did not imply a dissolution of the congress.

"Those lazy bums have to work. What we are doing is telling them: 'Gentlemen, we are not going to let you take a holiday'," Rodriguez said in a reference to opposition politicians.

South American trade bloc Mercosur condemned the assembly for usurping congress's responsibilities, according to a statement released by Brazil's Foreign Ministry.

Three killed in Burundi grenade attacks at bars
[Al Jazeera] Grenade attacks on two bars killed at least three people and maimed 27 others in Bujumbura, the capital of Burundi, police and hospital sources said.

Police front man Pierre Nkurikiye told news hounds on Friday that one person had died at the scene and 29 others were rushed to hospital after grenades were thrown into two bars in the Buyenzi district on Thursday night.

Hospital sources said two people shuffled off the mortal coil later. One survivor, who asked not to be named, said the attackers had not attempted to rob the bars or the patrons.

Burundi has suffered from periodic low-level violence since 2015 when President Pierre Nkurunziza decided to seek a third term in office.

Opponents said his candidacy violated the constitution and a peace agreement that ended a civil war in 2005. The opposition mostly boycotted the polls, and Nkurunziza won a third term.

A wave of unrest followed. The International Criminal Court (ICC) said it left about 450 people dead and forced hundreds of thousands to flee.

Since then, political violence has continued to simmer.

Earlier this month, attackers targeted another bar in the same district, causing two deaths and wounding four.

3 Killed, Several Houses Torched By Al Shabaab In Kenya
[RADIOSHABELLE] Three people have been killed and several houses torched by suspected Al-Shabaab

This follows a series of attacks in the region. On June 27, four pupils and four coppers were killed in an IED attack launched by the bully boyz in Kiunga on a police vehicle.

Another incident was also reported where three people were killed after the Al-Shabaab bully boyz attacked a passenger bus and a car at Nyongoro area in Witu, Lamu County.

The incident happened on Lamu- Garsen highway, police said. Four other people were left with serious bullet injuries. A major operation is ongoing in the area but it has not stopped the attacks.

"I am disappointed that President Trump has chosen to hold a campaign rally as our nation is still healing from the tragic events in Charlottesville," Stanton, a Democrat, said. "It is my hope that more sound judgment prevails and that he delays his visit."

On Wednesday, Trump used social media to urge supporters to show up at the Phoenix Convention Center for his first rally in the Western part of the country since his inauguration.

In recent days, reports also have surfaced that Trump is considering offering a pardon to former Maricopa County, Ariz., Sheriff Joe Arpaio. Last month, Arpaio -- who has been sued several times by civilians who said he promoted racial profiling -- was found guilty of criminal contempt. A U.S. District Court judge found Arpaio, 85, guilty of defying a judge’s 2011 court order to refrain from racially profiling Latinos during patrols and turning them over to federal immigration authorities.

SANAA: Yemeni security officials say Saudi forces have arrived in the southern port city of Aden amid friction within the kingdom-led alliance there.

The officials say the troops were deployed on Friday at the presidential palace, port, and airport. They spoke on condition of anonymity because they weren’t authorized to talk to journalists.

They are the first special Saudi forces in Aden since a Saudi-led coalition in 2015 started fighting Houthis to restore Yemeni President Abed-Rabbo Mansour Hadi’s internationally recognized government. After the Houthis overran the capital, Sanaa, the government became based in Aden as its temporary capital.

'An attack on Japan is an attack on US,' says US top general
[DAWN] The United States' (US) most senior military officer on Friday said North Korea understands that any attack on Japan is equal to one on the US itself and vice versa.

General Joe Dunford, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, held talks with his Japanese counterpart at the defence ministry in Tokyo, wrapping up a regional tour during heightened tensions with North Korea.

Tokyo remains on alert against potential military provocations by Pyongyang after North Korea threatened to fire missiles towards the Pacific island of Guam, US territory, which would have flown over Japan.

"I think we made it clear to North Korea and anyone else in the region that an attack on one is an attack on both of us," Dunford told Katsutoshi Kawano, chief of staff of Japan's Self-Defense Forces.

Court sends police officials to jail over alleged negligence in 'honour-killing' case
[DAWN] Additional District and Sessions Judge (ADSJ) Jacobabad Ghulam Murtaza Maitlo on Friday sent Garhi Khero Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Abdul Majeed Abro, SHO Abdul Ahad Soomro, and ASI Eijaz Ahmed Jakhrani to jail after their bail plea was rejected in Anila Dharpali murder case.

Anila Darpali had approached Jackobabad City cop shoppe in 2012, seeking protection as she was reportedly facing life threats on the pretext of Karo-Kari. Instead of producing her before the court or taking her to a shelter house, the police officials handed Darpali back to her relatives on the so-called guaranty of a local contractor Abdul Razzaq Jat.

Later some reports suggested that Darpali was allegedly killed by her relatives, however, the police failed to recover her dead or alive. The fate of the girl still remains a mystery, sources told Dawn.

DSP Abro, SHO Soomro and ASI Jakhrani had been sent to jail due to their alleged negligence, poor performance and mishandling the case. On Friday The ADSJ Jacobabad cancelled the bail plea of the police officials and issued orders to keep all the three in jail custody.

"This detention illustrates the lengths to which local Houthi-Saleh authorities' are willing to go to silence peaceful activists. Hisham al-Omeisy is a prisoner of conscience, whose only 'crime' is peacefully exercising his right to freedom of expression, and he must be released immediately." Hadid said in a statement.

It was pretty disheartening to see the abject lies being repeated about the festivities in Charlottesville, Viginia over the week. I watched as US senators pledged their allegiance to a pack of lies and to the left, with the media refusing to entertain any other view.

And it just wasn't national. In my home state of Oklahoma, where every county went for Trump in 2016 (the only true red state in the nation), not 18 hours after the end of the riots, at the capital building in Oklahoma City, remnants of the Obama diehards gathered and pressed the view that all Confederate monuments must be removed because of racism.

I have been in the business of organizing leftists and it is truly like herding cats. That they were able to get 50+ people to show up at the state capital was either a tribute to the organizers' skills or the local news channels received a phone call from Democrat operatives.

In Hershal Smith's blog, one commenter remarked that all the drives, and the riots between the left and the right took place in what he termed 487 counties, which is a reference to the 487 counties nationwide that carried Hillary in 2016. You gotta wonder why.

Maybe they are trying to rally the troops.

Then there is the story of a young man who stood in front of the statue of Robert E. Lee to honor and protect it.

Said Dmitry Olshansky, a Russian in his blog:

A heavy boy with the flag of the Confederation stands motionless in front of the monument to General Lee.

He salutes his stone commander.

And before him is a crowd of supporters of peace, love, tolerance and diversity.

And they, adherents of love, literally crouched from hatred.

But now another century, and quite different people assert their authority, and they try to trample everyone who does not agree with them.

"Peace and Love," once a way of freedom, have become the rhetoric of humiliation, domination and censorship, and whenever a hypocritical person quotes Nelson Mandela or Martin Luther King, a street herd demolishes monuments, scribbles and scans cheap curses.

The herd is panting with rage.

And the boy is standing.

#2  Human Events - .223 Remington vs. 5.56 NATO: What You Don’t Know Could Hurt You

BLUF: Simply follow the caliber that is stamped on the barrel and do not deviate. (possible exception - .357 also fires .38, .38 Special, and .38+P).

Some AR's will be stamped 5.56 and .223 but most bolt action firearms will be stamped .223 (only).

Someone please correct me if my info is incorrect or out of date.

Jamiat-e-Islami warns Afghan govt not to further challenge the party’s resilience
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The Jamiat-e-Islami party has issued a strong warning to the Afghan government amid rising tensions after the controversial incident in Balkh airport involving the party’s chief executive Ata Mohammad Noor and provincial council member of Balkh Asif Momand.

The party in a statement said Friday that certain circles are attempting to destabilize the relatively calm provinces and those areas under the control of the officials belonging to Jamiat-e-Islami where considerable achievements have been made, apparently pointing towards the Balkh which has been under the leadership of Noor since a long time.

The party harshly criticized the government for remaining reckless to respond the concerns of Jamiat-e-Islami regarding the conspiracies being hatched.

The statement further added that the government has not only responded to their concerns but has also failed to tackle the conspiracies besides the government has failed to consider the growing instability and crisis in the volatile regions.

Jamiat-e-Islami called on the government to refrain from further challenging of the party’s patience and resilience and control those hatching plots to destabilize the peaceful areas of the country.

The incident in Mawlana Jalaluddin Balkhi international airport took place late on Mondaynight during the arrest of Asif Momand, a member of the provincial council of Balkh province.

Momand was arrested late on Monday night in Balkh international airport days after he had accused Ata Mohammad Noor of being involved in massive corruption and there are reports that he was held into the custody by forces belonging to Balkh governor.

Noor had earlier harshly criticized the national security adviser Mohammad Hanif Atmar and the national directorate of security chief Mohammad Stanikzai after the clashes and accused the two top security officials of hatching conspiracies to destabilize the northern Balkh province.

Noor said Balkh has been among the relatively calm and peaceful provinces and conspiracies involving plans and projects to destabilize the province should be refrained from.

Afghan forces conducted 41 airstrikes, 33 ground operations, killing 86 insurgents

New face of terror emerges in southern Thailand
[Bangkok Post] Members of a new generation of the Barisan Revolusi Nasional (BRN) insurgent movement stole seven vehicles in Pattani and Songkhla provinces to use in bomb attacks in what official called an "unexpected" new attack tactic in southern Thailand.

Army chief Chalermchai Sitthisad said the group found responsible for Wednesday's car robberies in which one civilian and one militant were killed is a BRN group controlled by Dulloh Waemano.

New members who do not have criminal records were being trained to replace their predecessors who have either been nabbed or gone into hiding after authorities obtained information linking them to past attacks. These young and new members of the BRN have joined the group because they are hired, not because they agree with the group's ideology, Gen Chalermchai said.

Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Prawit Wongsuwon confirmed the BRN was behind the incidents, saying at least four out of about seven suspects involved have been clearly identified by authorities.

The the showroom thefts were carried out in Songkhla instead because tight security has been maintained in Yala, Pattani and Narathiwat, he said, referring to the robbery of the six pickup trucks at a used car shop.

However, the robberies started in Pattani where BRN militants stole a pickup truck from a couple in Pattani's Yarang district. The stolen truck was then used by about ten people -- dressed in outfits looking similar to those of security authorities -- to travel to the used car shop in Songkhla where they stole six trucks and abducted four people including the shop owner,

The four held hostage by the car robbers were identified as Saharat Laeni, Prathanphon Nuanlamun, Thanisak Yichin, and Wirasak Rattanaphan. Thanisak, who owns the used car shop, said he and Wirasak had ran away from the gunmen while they were trying to kill the other two hostages. Saharat died but Prathanphon survived because he pretended to be dead when shot by a gunman at a rubber plantation in Thepha district. The gunmen apparently intended to kill all four hostages.

After the robbery, authorities were sent to hunt down the group. A suspect later identified as Nur-arsan Arwae, a resident of Pattani's Muang district, was killed in a gun battle with authorities after he refused to stop one of the stolen cars at a security checkpoint in Pattani's Nong Chik district.

The dead suspect was found to be a student at a privately-run Muslim religious school in Pattani's Muang district. Security authorities plan to invite the director of the school in for questioning.

All other stolen trucks were located and seized back in 19 hours. One of them was fitted with a bomb and blew up on Wednesday night in Pattani's Nong Chik district. No one was hurt. Another one was dropped in front of a police flat at Mayo police station in Pattani early Thursday, about a minute before the vehicle blew up, damaging nearby buildings. A few officers who were approaching to inspect the vehicle were slightly injured.

Deputy Defense Minister Gen Udomdej Sitabutr described the attack plot as outrageous as the suspects had apparently aimed to use those stolen cars in bombing attacks. He said, "The authorities have tried every way to prevent attacks in the southern border provinces. But if these suspects aren't arrested, they will possibly next target Songkhla. And I believe there are more major violent plots to come."

The Democrats' Dangerous Dolchstosslegende
[FrontPageMagazine] The Democrats went into the election certain that they were going to win. The New York Times rated Hillary’s chances at 93%. The Huffington Post raised that to 98%. That was still too modest for Obama campaign manager David Plouffe who predicted a 100% likelihood of Hillary winning.

It wasn’t strategy or statistics that made the Dems think that victory was certain. It was ideology.

Obama had spent two terms telling them that they were on the "right side of history". The more the Dems swung left, the closer to the right side of history they were. Their leftist views were naturally superior. They were based on science while their opponents were superstitious buffoons. They were enlightened while their enemies were bigots. They were smart and conservatives were dumb.

Delusions of superiority had convinced them that Republicans couldn’t win an honest election. When Bush won, it was because his brother and the Supreme Court had rigged the election. The Republican victories that swept much of the country were only due to voter suppression and redistricting.

The Democrats had allowed themselves to believe that they were so innately superior that they couldn’t lose an election except through fraud or dirty tricks. The humiliating defeats of McGovern, Carter, Mondale and Dukakis were all in the past. They had gone so far to the left that they couldn’t lose.

They had confused ideology with electability. The fallacy of fanatics is the conviction that their beliefs explain reality. And that following their beliefs must therefore lead to a successful outcome.

Leftists had convinced themselves that winning elections was an inevitable as the success of ObamaCare and the rejuvenation of the economy. Their media became a propaganda echo chamber filled with their own assurances of inevitable victory. But ObamaCare failed, the economy lingered and Trump won.

Instead of realizing that they had been lying to themselves, they seized on conspiracy theories.

Convinced of their natural superiority, members of the Master Party believed that their subjective contempt for Republicans in general and Trump specifically was an objective truth. It wasn’t that they despised conservatives. No, conservatives were inherently despicable. And Trump was so despicable and so absurd that he just had to lose. It was inconceivable that he couldn’t have lost. So he had lost.

Human beings don’t react well to having their egomaniacal fantasies come apart around them.

After losing World War I, many Germans seized on the Dolchstosslegende or the Stab-in-the-Back theory to explain what happened. The German military didn’t lose the war. It was undermined and stabbed in the back. Otherwise, despite the collapse of its allies and the entry of the United States, it would have won. The Nazis rode the Dolchstosslegende all the way into power. And to an even more devastating defeat in an even more devastating war all while trying to disprove the fact that America, the United Kingdom, France and Russia really could beat them in a war once there were no more Jews in Germany.

You can deny reality, but reality always wins.

Unsurprisingly, the Dolchstosslegende was most popular with German military leaders. Likewise the Democrat Dolchstosslegende arose from the ranks of Hillary’s campaign leaders. It’s those in charge of the losing team who have the most incentive to blame anyone and everyone else. The Nazis blamed a long list of people including the Jews. The Democrats blamed everyone from the FBI to the Russians.

Hillary has become another Hindenburg touting her own Dolchstosslegende. Her latest book, ’What Happpened’, will put the Dolchstosslegende into print. It will list everyone who lost the election for her. ’What Happened’ may be an awkward title, but calling it ’Mein Kampaign’ might have been a bit much.

The Hillary Dolchstosslegende tearing apart our country passes itself off as patriotism. The Nazis claimed that they were patriots too. But Dolchstosslegendes aren’t patriotic. They’re exercises in divisiveness by losers who don’t want to take responsibility for their stupidity, incompetence and hypocrisy.

Hillary went from pressing a reset button with one of Putin’s minions to a posthumous political campaign claiming that Putin had rigged the election. Never mind that even if Russian hackers did leak Podesta’s emails, less than 1% of Americans have any idea who Podesta is or cared about the contents of his chats. But Podesta’s emails embarrassed the future promoters of the Dolchstosslegende.

Top Taliban Kommander detained in Helmand
A key member of the Taliban in southern provinces was arrested in a special operation conducted by the Afghan National Army’s Commando Unit in Helmand province.

The operation was carried out in Nawa district in Helmand on Thursday, said Agha Mohammad, the second Battalion of Army’s Commando Unit said in a statement on Friday.

Agha Mohammad, the deputy of Mullah Naeem, commander of Taliban for Helmand, Kandahar and Uruzgan provinces, was wounded when arrested by the forces, the statement said.

The statement said that Mohammad was wounded in the Afghan forces’ military operation in Nawa district.

Balochistan launches initiative to include 'worldly education' in seminaries

government has launched an accelerated learning pathway (ALP) programme to bring religious seminaries operating in the province into the mainstream.

The ALP seeks to broaden the scope of education in the seminaries and has been jointly launched by the provincial government and the Balochistan Rural Support Program (BRSP), a non-government organization operating in Quetta and Pishin districts.

In the first phase of the initiative, worldly education is being taught in 90 seminaries, besides religious education.

"We want to bring all madressahs (seminaries) into the mainstream," Secretary Education Abdul Fatah Bhangar told a meeting of the Balochistan Advisory Council for Education (BACE) on Thursday evening as the initiative was launched.

Educationists, well-known religious scholars and members of the civil society participated in the meeting.

"Our utmost effort is to bring the out of school children into schools," said BRSP Chief Nadir Gul Bareech.

US plans decades-long military presence in northern Syria: SDF
[Iran Press TV] A US-backed militia group in northern Syria says American forces plan to remain in the Arab state "for decades to come" after the fall of ISIS, adding that Washington is not providing support to anti-Damascus bandidos snuffies "for free."

In a Thursday report by Rooters, Talal Silo, the front man for the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), an alliance of militias dominated by the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG), said the SDF believes that Washington has "strategic interests here after the end of ISIS."

"They have a strategy policy for decades to come. There will be military, economic and political agreements in the long term between the leadership of the northern areas (of Syria)... and the US administration," Silo said.

The Kurdish-dominated SDF holds 400-kilometer (250-mile) stretch of the Syrian-Ottoman Turkish border. The US has deployed forces at several locations in northern Syria, providing support to the SDF with air strikes, artillery and special forces on the ground.

The SDF is involved in an operation against ISIS bully boyz in Raqqah Province.

In July, the head of the YPG said the US had established seven military bases in northern Syria, including a major air base near the border town of Kobani.

Barcelona Attack Driver Could Be among Five Suspects Killed: Police
[ENGLISH.ALMANAR.LB] The driver who mowed down crowds of pedestrians in a busy Barcelona street could be among five suspects shot dead overnight by security forces in a nearby seaside city, police said Friday.

Responding to a question on whether the driver was among those killed, Josep Lluis Trapero of Catalonia’s police said “the investigation points in this direction,” adding there were “clues” that this was the case but no “concrete proof”. Three out of the five suspects have been identified so far.
