Hundreds confess to eating human flesh in South Africa
Hundreds of people allegedly confessed to eating human flesh given to them by one of four men facing cannibalism charges in South Africa, reports say.

The four accused cannibals -- Nino Mbatha, 32; Lindokuhle Masondo, 32; Sthembiso Sithole, 31, and 30-year-old Lungisani Magubane -- appeared in court on Monday in Estcourt to face charges of murder and conspiracy for allegedly raping, killing, mutilating and then eating the body of a woman, The Witness reports.

One of the suspects allegedly walked into a police station in the central South African town on Friday while holding human body parts, including a leg and a hand, and confessed to being "tired of eating human flesh," according to the newspaper.

Police found more body parts at a home in the Rensburgdrift section of Estcourt, a town in the country’s KwaZulu-Natal province.

Trump's Unintended Consequences: The Republican Party Reveals Itself
h/t Gates of Vienna
...The Republican Party once was the party of conservatives. It still is the only place any conservative can be elected in today’s political world. So far. Unfortunately, the party of Reagan has disappeared. Trump did not make them disappear, but his improbable run, and win, has revealed who the party really is.

And it ain’t pretty.

It’s been apparent for a while that they are the stupid party. But I never thought they were this stupid.

It’s been apparent for a long time they had Stockholm Syndrome. Captured by the left, they have been cowed into being spineless mushes afraid to be called names. But I never thought it was this bad.

It’s been apparent for a while this is a party interested in taking a back seat, as long as they get money, perks, and some kind of fame. But I never thought it was this corrupt.

Something has gone very wrong since Trump ascended. And it’s not him. He’s virtually the only one trying to do the right things. At this point, it’s clear we have a combination of sick factions in the GOP, and none of them give a damn about the party’s voters, none of them give a damn about the principles they claim to have stood for in the past years, and none of them have a clue about what they are doing.

You don't actually need a car, let alone a bomb
h/t Gates of Vienna
About 8 a.m. on Thursday, Michigan State Police raided the Dearborn Medical Clinic, where a doctor is accused of over prescribing opiates.

Lt. Mike Shaw of the State Police described the clinic, located at Warren and Yinger Avenues, as a "pill mill" and said oxycodone is the drug most prescribed. It was attracting patients from all over at all hours of the day and night, becoming disruptive to the neighborhood.

"People lined up here at the three in the morning," said Shaw. "And you’ve got nothing but people lined up around this neighborhood sitting in chairs. They actually ordered food in, to come to this place. When we actually hit the door there were people out here smoking marijuana right in the doorway, right as our officers hit the place."

Dr.Mohammad Derani allegedly prescribed more than 500,000 opioid pills since January 2017.

Leaked photo ends Amsterdam Police cover up; names Khalid Karmaoui as man ramming car through crowd, wounding eight
[TheOldContinent] The Dutch weblog GeenStijl has just obtained and published the identity of the man who on Saturday, June 10th, wounded eight people (including three Israelis) when he ploughed his car through a crowd at the Station Square, right in front of Amsterdam Central station.
We had the original story here.
The Amsterdam Police force has thus far been reluctant to publish the perpetrator’s name, and had released him after four days of detention. The police also made the highly unlikely claim that there was no camera footage of the incident because all 15 camera’s surrounding the area had been in “pre-set modus”, which meant that they weren’t recording anything.

About the picture they published, GeenStijl writes:

“This picture has been taken from a screen which is showing the police system called Bluespot. It concerns the file of the so called “blood sugar driver” at the Station square. The file belongs to Khalid Karmaoui, born on 9 September in Casablanca, Morocco. The date, June 10, checks out. The licence plate, 04-XL-NN, checks out. And the police’s explanation that the driver was suffering from low blood sugar seems to be compatible with that day’s warm weather and his possible observance of the Ramadan.”

Taliban: 'We will turn Afghanistan into American graveyard'
[Arutz Sheva] The Taliban terror organization appeared unfazed after US President Trump’s speech Monday night in Fort Myers, Virginia, where he outlined a new US strategy with respect to Afghanistan and South Asia.

While Trump acknowledged that his original instinct was to pull US forces out of Afghanistan, he said that he now realizes that the US cannot repeat in Afghanistan the same mistake it made in Iraq.

Calling terrorists "losers," he emphasized that he instead intended to employ a "fight to win" strategy which would include ratcheting up the fight against the Taliban in Afghanistan.

John Bolton: 'Danger of a terrorist takeover of Afghanistan'
[Arutz Sheva] Former US Ambassador to the UN John Bolton says that there is still a danger of a terrorist takeover of Afghanistan.

Former US Ambassador to the UN John Bolton reacted to President Trump's announcement of a new strategy towards Afghanistan.

"The threat and danger of a terrorist takeover of Afghanistan remains. That's the fact" he told Fox Business.

Bolton added that "the fact is that we are still engaged there, we have been engaged there, but after tonight it is President Trump's strategy."

U.S. President Donald Trump announced Monday night that the American military strategy in Afghanistan and South Asia will shift from a time-based approach to one based on conditions.

"We will not talk about numbers of troops or our plans for further military activities. Conditions on the ground, not arbitrary time tables, will guide our strategy from now on," he stressed.

India-Pakistan
70 Years of the Radcliffe Line: Understanding the Story of Indian Partition
[Diplomat] When the British partitioned India and departed the subcontinent 70 years ago, the delineation of the border between the new states of India and Pakistan -- the Radcliffe Line -- had not yet been released. That would have to wait two more days.

Although the boundary was finalized on August 12, it was published on August 17, 1947, ostensibly to avoid confusion on independence day itself, and in order to buy more time to manage the chaos that was sweeping throughout the provinces of Bengal and Punjab. The Earl Louis Mountbatten, the last British Governor-General of India, also allegedly did not wish for the question of the boundary to take precedence over the independence day celebrations he would preside over in Karachi and Delhi. As a result, when India and Pakistan became independent, some border districts incorrectly believed themselves to be one or the other of those two countries, when in fact, the opposite was the case.

How was the border between India and Pakistan decided? The basic principle underlying the border, and the decision to partition India itself, was the two nation theory, the main proponent of which was the All-India Muslim League, a movement that represented the Muslims of British India. Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the movement’s leader, expounded on the theory in a speech in Lahore in 1940:

Chaos as drivers ride bumper to bumper on long journeys home from the 'Great American Eclipse' - and the traffic could last all week!
[Mail] Thanks to Monday's solar eclipse, disastrous traffic jams have been taking over the country these last few days.

And as folks leave the first coast-to-coast solar eclipse since 1918, the U.S. Department of Transportation estimated that nearly two-thirds of the nation's resident live withing a day's drive of the path of totality.

And with Oregon being the first to see the eclipse, it and neighboring state Washington are experiencing the worst bouts of the traffic jams.

'This is the biggest transportation event that has ever hit Oregon,' Dave Thompson, a spokesman for the Oregon Department of Transportation told AP.

Oregon expected over a million people to be in attendance for the eclipse.

Europe
Pope Francis: Rights of Migrants Trump National Security Concerns
[Breitbart] VATICAN CITY (AP) -- Pope Francis on Monday urged countries to greatly improve their welcome to migrants and stop collective expulsions, saying migrants’ dignity and right to protection trumps national security concerns.

Francis’ politically pointed message was made in view of the Catholic Church’s 2018 world refugee day, celebrated Jan. 14. It comes amid mounting anti-immigrant sentiment in Europe and beyond following waves of migrant arrivals and Islamic extremist attacks.

In the message, Francis demanded governments welcome, protect, promote and integrate migrants, saying Jesus’ message of love is rooted in welcoming the "rejected strangers of every age."

He demanded a simplified process of granting humanitarian and temporary visas and rejected arbitrary and collective expulsions as "unsuitable." He said the principle of ensuring each person’s dignity "obliges us to always prioritize personal safety over national security."

Labor Of Love, now in early stages of development, hails from Howard Owens and Ben Silverman’s Propagate Content and Project Runway executive producer Desiree Gruber. Alex Duda, former executive producer of Steve Harvey and The Tyra Banks Show and creator of Jerseylicious, has been tapped as showrunner.

"It’s a show about empowering a woman who can pursue a decision to have a child to help complete a lifelong dream," Gruber said.

#3  ...most of them started showing signs of future problems by forth grade.

The traditional method puts very high selection pressure on the sperm involved, so that only the best make it to the egg. Y sperms are sprinters, so will are more likely to get to the egg first if it is later in the cycle and descended into the uterus, while X sperms are marathoners, and are more likely to get to the egg earlier in the cycle while it is still wandering down the fallopian tube. The turkey baster method puts no pressure on the sperm, increasing the probability that it will be a poorer quality one that wins.

Separately, conceiving after the woman has reached thirty increases the chance of mutations, and after forty significantly so -- the probability of Down Syndrome increasing to 1:200 is only the most well known; the total known risk of genetic abnormalities in women 40+ being 1:38, and for 45+ it is 1:12.

Never Trump'r Mark Cuban offers to serve as Trump's 'entrepreneurial czar'
[The Hill] Business mogul and Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban on Friday offered to join President Trump's administration now that two of his economic councils have disbanded.

Cuban told Business Insider that he'd be willing to serve as Trump's "entrepreneurial czar," on the condition that he would have "autonomy" and wouldn't have to serve as a prop for the Trump administration.

"I would put aside my personal feelings about Donald Trump if I were put in a position to help entrepreneurs," Cuban told Business Insider.

"I wouldn't go on a council. I wouldn't do a kiss the ring type Cabinet meting or be a prop. I wouldn't change my positions or apologize for anything I said," Cuban added.

In an email exchange with the news outlet, Cuban said he would "put America first" if given a "Gary Cohn level of autonomy," referring to Trump's National Economic Council director.

It seems unlikely that Trump would make such an offer, as Cuban routinely criticizes the president.

Secret Service nearing spending limit for protecting Trump: report
[The Hill] The Secret Service is nearing its spending limit for protecting President Trump and his family, the agency's director told USA Today.

Secret Service Director Randolph Alles said that 1,000 agents have already hit their annual salary and overtime limits. Alles added that he is in discussions with lawmakers to increase the pay caps for agents from $160,000 to $187,000 per year.

The increased spending is due in part to Trump's frequent travel from the White House to his properties along the East Coast. He returned to Washington late Sunday from a "working vacation" at his New Jersey golf club.

Dem Strategist: Party ‘Badly' Needs Soetoro Back
[Daily Caller] Democrats lack a deep bench for the 2018 and 2020 elections and "badly need" former President Barack Obama to return to public life, according to several Democratic strategists.

Brand Bannon is one strategist who has argued Obama needs to take a more prominent role in the Democratic Party, the Hill reported Monday.
"Democrats badly need Barack Obama," Bannonn said. "He offers such a vivid contrast to Trump in behavior and temperament."

"He always sounded reasonable and acted responsibly even if you disagreed with him," he said. "None of the potential Democratic presidential candidates have the visibility or credibility to be effective."

The former president is expected to campaign publicly for Democrats in the 2018 election cycle, as he did during 2016. He has already been involved in fundraising efforts. However, his reentrance into public life will be a "delicate dance," one aide told the Hill.

Afghanistan
Trump's Afghanistan Strategy Will Increase Pressure on Pakistan
[Free Beacon] The Trump administration will place new pressure on Pakistan to stop providing safe haven to terrorists as part of a broader Afghanistan strategy update announced Monday night.

President Donald Trump, who delivered a long-awaited address outlining a new plan for the 16-year war, now the nation's longest, suggested the United States will slash the billions of dollars in aid provided to Pakistan annually if it fails to take action against terrorist groups, namely, the Taliban.

"Pakistan has much to gain from partnering with our effort in Afghanistan," Trump said. "It has much to lose by continuing to harbor criminals and terrorists."

Pakistan and bordering Afghanistan are home to the highest concentration of terrorist groups in the world, with more than 20 U.S.-designated foreign terrorist organizations residing in the two countries. The Pakistani government is notorious for harboring terrorist groups, including top Taliban leaders.

North Korea warns Australia that supporting Trump is a 'suicidal act'
[Guardian] North Korea has warned Australia it has committed a "suicidal act" by committing its troops to help the US in any conflict over Pyongyang’s nuclear program and by joining military exercises with US and South Korean forces.
Chinese dog chases pig from master's garden.
The official KCNA news agency noted that the Australian prime minister, Malcolm Turnbull, had recently vowed his country’s military would fight alongside the US if the latter was attacked by North Korea.

The prime minister told 3AW last week that Australia and the US were joined at the hip on defence matters, and "if there is an attack on the US, the Anzus treaty would be invoked" and Australia would come to the aid of the United States.

In response to the warning from North Korea, Turnbull hit back on Monday night, issuing a short statement saying: "North Korea has shown it has no regard for the welfare of its own population, no regard for the security and good relations with its neighbours and no regard for international law."

-Lurid Crime Tales-
In Kentucky: Estimated $72 Million in Medicaid Payments Made to Ineligible Beneficiaries
[Free Beacon] An estimated $72 million in Medicaid payments were made to potentially ineligible beneficiaries in Kentucky, according to an audit from the agency's inspector general.

The audit found the state agency in Kentucky did not always determine eligibility status for Medicaid benefits in line with federal and state requirements and that the agency did not keep paperwork noting it verified citizenship status.

In order to receive Medicaid benefits, the state must verify citizenship or nationality status and have documentary evidence. The state can conduct this verification process through the Social Security Administration.

The audit found the state determined eligibility status for Medicaid benefits without having such documentation and could not show that they received a citizenship verification response from the Social Security Administration.

"The state agency did not always meet Federal and State requirements when making eligibility determinations because of both human and system errors," the report states. "The state agency did not always perform, or maintain documentation that it had performed, identity-proofing because of both human and system errors related to processes implemented in response to the ACA that affected eligibility determinations for non-newly eligible Medicaid applicants."

PayPal Bans Jihad Watch from Accepting Donations
Follow up on this story from yesterday.
[Breitbart] Online payment company PayPal has banned Jihad Watch and the site’s director Robert Spencer from accepting online donations using the service.

PayPal has reportedly suspended the account of Jihad Watch, according to the website’s director, Robert Spencer. In a post on Jihad Watch calling for the boycott of PayPal, Spencer outlined his correspondence with the company over a number of emails. PayPal’s suspension of Spencer’s account came shortly after an article published by Lauren Kirchner of ProPublica who criticized tech companies such as PayPal that allow Jihad Watch to utilize their online services.

"Because of its "extreme hostility toward Moslems," the website Jihadwatch.org is considered an active hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center and the Anti-Defamation League," wrote Kirchner. "But its designation as a hate site hasn’t stopped tech companies -- including PayPal, Amazon, and Newsmax -- from maintaining partnerships with Jihad Watch that help to sustain it financially."

In Jihad Watch’s post about the suspension, Spencer called for a boycott of PayPal saying, "So: if you support the work of Jihad Watch, close your PayPal account now. Contact them and tell them why. Tell all your friends that PayPal has bowed to Left-fascism
...a political system developed in Italy symbolized by the Roman fasces -- thin reeds, each flimsy in itself but unbreakable when bound into a bundle. The word is nowadays thrown around by all sorts of people who have no idea what they're talking about...
, and to boycott it." For now, the site is accepting donations directly via check sent to 1040 1st Ave #121, New York, NY 10022.

PayPal did not respond to a request for comment from Breitbart Tech.

Somali extremist group confirms killing of senior commander
[Ynet] The Somali Islamic Lion of Islam group al-Shabaab

is confirming that one of its top commanders was killed by a US Arclight airstrike in July.

The SITE Intelligence Group, which monitors Lion of Islam groups, says al-Shabaab issued a statement Monday confirming the killing of Ali Muhammad Hussein, also known as Ali Jabal.

A statement from the US Africa Command in early August said the strike on July 30 killed Jabal. It said Jabal was "responsible for leading al-Shabaab forces operating in the Mogadishu and Banadiir regions in planning and executing attacks against the capital of Mogadishu."

The strike reportedly hit an al-Shabaab stronghold in the Lower Shabelle region of southern Somalia.

Al-Shabaab often carries out deadly attacks on high-profile targets in Mogadishu and elsewhere in the Horn of Africa country.

Civil defence front man Nayef al-Sharif said no casualties were reported in the fire, which was sparked by a faulty air conditioning unit on the eighth floor of a hotel in the Azaziyah district of Mecca.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Hezbollah using combat drones against Daesh terrorists in Syria
[Iran Press TV] The Lebanese Hezbollah resistance movement says it has used weaponized unmanned aerial vehicles to strike the positions of the ISIS Takfiri
...an adherent of takfir wal hijra, an offshoot of Salafism that regards everybody who doesn't agree with them as apostates who must be killed...
murderous Moslems in the strategic and mountainous region of Qalamoun close to the border with Leb.

Hezbollah’s media bureau announced in a statement on Monday that it had deployed the drones to hit ISIS positions, bunkers and fortifications in the area, located about 330 kilometers (205 miles) north of the Syrian capital Damascus.

Video footage released by the media unit, seemingly taken from a drone, showed two types of missiles, one of them with a tail fin, cruising towards the ground and subsequent kabooms as they struck the designated targets.

Earlier on Monday, Hezbollah’s media bureau reported that the Lebanese resistance fighters and Syrian government forces had wrested complete control over Shoubat al-Dowab and Shoubat Beit Shuker heights in the western outskirts of Qalamoun.

It added that Hezbollah fighters and Syrian army soldiers were in control of the strategic Qornat Shoubat Aakko district near al-Jarajir village in Syria’s southwestern province of Rif Dimashq.

Abbas threatens to slowly cut funding to Gaza Strip over row with Hamas
[Iran Press TV] Paleostinian Authority (PA) President the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas
... a graduate of the prestigious unaccredited Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow with a doctorate in Holocaust Denial...
has threatened to gradually cut financial support to the impoverished Gazoo Strip "by 100 percent" until the Paleostinian resistance movement Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, agrees to reconcile with his ruling Fatah Party.

The Paleostinian leader made the remarks in a meeting with the Israeli politician Zehava Gal-On, the chairperson of the Israeli left-wing Meretz political party, in the occupied West Bank city of Ramallah on Monday.

"We transfer $1.5 billion a year [to Hamas in Gazoo]," Abbas further said, according to a statement released by his office later in the day. He added that he had already slashed 25 percent of that amount.

The Fatah, chaired by Abbas, and Hamas are at loggerheads over a number of issues, which ultimately led to a split in the Paleostinian Authority in 2007. A year earlier, Hamas had won parliamentary elections and since June 2007 it has been ruling over the Gazoo Strip. During the past decade the movement has refused to reconcile with the Fatah and the row between the two still persists.

Such attacks have become increasingly common in northern Mali, where a number of Islamic Lion of Islam groups are active. Earlier this month, an attack on a UN camp in Timbuktu killed seven people.

The UN mission has been working to stabilize Mali, where jihadists seized control of the north in 2012 before a French-led military operation scattered them the following year. UN convoys and the Malian military have been frequent targets.

Daesh gathering in Syria’s Dayr al-Zawr for last battle: Russia
[Iran Press TV] The remaining members of the ISIS terrorist group are gathering in Syria’s Dayr al-Zawr province for their last stand, says the Russian Defense Ministry.

"The remaining [terrorist] forces are heading there. According to our data, bandidos snuffies from djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
[in Iraq] moved there and the most battle-ready units from Raqqah," said front man for the Russian General Staff, General Sergey Rudskoy, on Monday.

He noted that despite the fact that most of the bully boyz had left Raqqah, the US-backed SDF forces have still not been able to capture the city.

Iraq
Iraqi airstrikes smokes 10 ISIS Bad Guys

Anbar (IraqiNews.com) Ten Islamic State militants were killed in an airstrike in western Anbar, a security source from the province was quoted saying.

Speaking to AlSumaria News, the source said, “U.S.-led coalition launched an airstrike targeting IS rest house in Rawa city, west of Ramadi city,” the source told AlSumaria News.

“The airstrike destroyed the rest house and left 10 militants, who were inside, killed,” according to the source, who preferred anonymity.

In related news, Iraqi air force dropped hundreds of thousands of messages on western Anbar regions as well as southwest of Kirkuk.

A statement by the Defense Ministry’s War Media Cell said on Monday that “jets dropped hundreds of thousands of leaflets after midnight on Hawija as well as Qaim, Rawa, Annah and Okashat regions. They included news on victories by troops as well as IS defeats and threatened IS militants that they either have to surrender or die.”

On Sunday, Jazeera Operations Command said five militants were killed while trying to infilitrate from Houran region into al-Baghdadi town in western Anbar.

Fighter jets from the Iraqi army and the international coalition regularly pound IS locations in the province.

Anbar’s western towns of Anah, Qaim and Rawa are still held by the extremist group since 2014, when it occupied one third of Iraq to proclaim a self-styled Islamic Caliphate. Iraqi troops were able to return life back to normal in the biggest cities of Anbar including Fallujah, Ramadi and others after recapturing them.

In late July, a military source was quoted saying that Lt.Gen Abdul-Amir Yarallah, commander of the Nineveh Operations, ordered to besiege IS havens in western Anbar preparing to invade them.

Britain
UK plans crackdown on internet hate freedom of speech
Making a stupid standard practice official.
[IsraelTimes] British authorities are promising to prosecute hate crimes committed online as vigorously as those that take place face-to-face, recognizing the growth of hate speech on social media and the potential for such crimes to affect large numbers of people.

New guidelines issued Monday outline a tough stance on cyber hate attacks on the basis of race, religion, disability, sexual orientation or transgender identity. In addition, the guidance for the first time recognizes hate crimes against bisexuals as distinct from homophobic or transphobic attacks.

"These documents take account of the current breadth and context of offending to provide prosecutors with the best possible chance of achieving justice for victims," Alison Saunders, the director of public prosecutions, says in a statement. "They also let victims and witnesses know what they should expect from us."

The guidance underscores the need for prosecutors to take a proactive approach to hate crime, advising them to understand the changing nature of internet platforms and the policies different social media networks have for removing hate speech. It urges prosecutors to identify "originators" as well as "amplifiers or disseminators" of such attacks.

Community groups monitoring anti-Semitic and Islamophobic abuse have reported that a significant portion of such incidents involve the internet.

Afghan forces thwart militants plan to carry out an explosion in Kabul city
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The Afghan cops have foiled a plot by the anti-government armed krazed killer groups to carry out an kaboom in Kabul city.

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) officials in the Ministry of Interior (MoI) said a large Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted under a culvert was discovered before the faceless myrmidons manage to detonate it.

The officials further added that the explosives were seized from the vicinity of Proja-e-Jadid area in the vicinity of the 11th police district of the city.

It is yet not clear who was the target of the faceless myrmidons but the roadside kabooms are frequently used to target the security and government officials as well as the security forces personnel.

3 Afghan prison workers missing during training in Colorado
Not yet War on Terror -- it might just be that they want to claim asylum in Canada.
[Ynet] Colorado officials say three Afghan prison workers in the United States for training are missing after failing to return from an organized trip.

The guards are part of a group from Afghanistan being trained at the International Correctional Management Training Center in Canon City, which is run by the Colorado Department of Corrections.

Department front man Mark Fairbairn says the trio didn't return to a meeting spot in Colorado Springs at the end of the trip on Saturday evening.

He says the three underwent background checks and vetting by the US State Department and the department's primary concern is ensuring their safety. They all have temporary visas.

Afghanistan
Abdullah slams Gulbuddin Hekmayar for his remarks against Ahmad Shah Massoud
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The Chief Executive of the Government of National Unity Abdullah Abdullah
... the former foreign minister of the Northern Alliance government, advisor to Masood, and candidate for president against Karzai. Dr. Abdullah was born in Kabul and is half Tadjik and half Pashtun...
slammed the leader of Hezb-e-Islami Gulbuddin Hekmatyar
... who used to be known in intelligence circles as The Most Evil Man in the World but who now seems merely run-of-the-mill evil. He and his party are heavily influenced by the Moslem Brüderbund...
for his remarks against the Jihadi leaders, specifically Ahmad Shah Massoud who has been given the title of national hero.
Hekmatyar spent the war against the Soviets periodically trying to sell out Massoud.
Speaking during a meeting of the cabinet of ministers, Abdullah said the remarks by Hekmatyar regarding Jihadi leaders have roots in his ego and hatred towards the others.
Massoud wasn't the only one he sold out, naturally.
Abdulalh further added that such remarks will not affect the personality of the prominent Jihadi leaders and their fame, like Ahmad Shah Massoud and Burhanuddin Rabbani
... the gentlemanly murdered legitimate president of Afghanistan...
, insisting that they were the true defenders of the country.

According to reports, Hekmatyar had accused Massoud of having links with Pakistain’s ISI and handing over of Kabul to Taliban
...Arabic for students...
during the civil war.
Hekmatyar was owned by the ISI and the Pak Jamaat-e-Islami. His forces rocketed Kabul mercilessly during the "Dog Eat Dog," where he tried to grab exclusive power for himself. He so weakened the country that the Talibs were able to take over.
Hekmatyar also accused the former defense minister Bismillah Khan Mohammadi of having role in the massive corruption and questioned the appointment of around 600 army generals only from the northern Panjshir province.
I don't know about the number of generals from Pandjir Valley, but the area was the center of anti-Soviet resistance. Hek was the Pashtun face of the Muj.
This comes as the chief executive of Jamaat-e-Islami and governor of Balkh province had earlier slammed Hekmatyar for his remarks against Ahmad Shah Massoud and Panjshir, and accused him of sparking tensions and divisions among the people based on geographical locations, skin color, and the languages they speak.

He said the leader of Hezb-e-Islami is strictly following a mission hatched by the foreigners to spark tensions among the people.

Europe
Spain attacks: The imam who 'ate up the brains' of youths
[YAHOO] In a little Spanish town by the Pyrenees mountains, a Morocca holy man has come under intense scrutiny, accused of creating the terror cell that allegedly launched the twin attacks in Spain.

Those who knew him described Abdelbaki Es Satty as a discreet and religious man, who had recently asked for a holiday from the mosque he was preaching in, apparently to return to Morocco for personal business.

But police believe he may have been among those blown up in an accidential kaboom Wednesday in the house where the suspected attackers were believed to be building bombs.

The blast likely changed the plans of the attackers, who instead used vehicles to smash into pedestrians on Barcelona's busy Las Ramblas boulevard and in the seaside resort town of Cambrils.

"On Tuesday morning, he left saying he was going on vacation to Morocco," said fruit-seller Nordeen El Haji, 45, who four months ago moved into the apartment that Satty occupied in Ripoll.

The decrepit two-room flat rented for 150 euros a month has a view of the tree-covered Pyrenees and the red roofs of the quaint Catalonian town, 90 kilometres (50 miles) north of Barcelona.

- 'No internet, few books' -
"He spoke little, spent time with his computer in his room, and had an old mobile phone with no internet, and few books," said Satty's flatmate.

On a piece of furniture lies the police search order dated Friday, just after the twin attacks that claimed 14 lives and maimed 120 people.

Three days after the assaults, a picture was emerging of a holy man who may have radical leanings.

El Mundo newspaper, quoting anti-terrorist sources, said that in 2012 Satty left prison where "he had struck up a special friendship with another detainee, Rachid Aglif, nicknamed 'the rabbit'."
The Times of Israel adds:
A Morocca holy man believed to have radicalized youths who committed a pair of terror attacks in Spain was confirmed dead Monday in an accidental kaboom at the suspects’ bomb factory, police said.

Asked whether Abdelbaki Es Satty had died in the blast on Wednesday that precipitated the attacks, Catalan police chief Josep Lluis Trapero said: "It is confirmed," adding, "the remains of the imam were there" in the house in Alcanar that went kaboom!.

Police raided more homes in Ripoll on Monday, Catalonia’s regional interior minister Joaquim Forn said.
And from the Daily Mail:
Es Satty was reportedly friends with some of those tossed in the clink
You have the right to remain silent...
for the Madrid train bombings in 2004, having spent four years in prison himself for drug trafficking and breaking Spanish immigration laws.

Rachid Aglif had been sentenced to 18 years over the March 2004 Madrid train bomb attacks that killed 191 people, the worst terror attack on European soil.

The Grand Turk
Erdogan Says Top Turkish General Must Accept Demotion
Eating their own?
[AnNahar] President Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him...
on Monday warned a top Ottoman Turkish general who played a key role in defeating last year's failed coup and led a cross-border operation in Syria that he must accept a surprise demotion without rancor.

In a rare show of tension between the military and Erdogan, Ottoman Turkish media reported that Lieutenant General Zekai Aksakalli had wanted to resign from the armed forces after he was moved from special forces chief to a less significant position.

"There can be no such concept of disappointment in the military. Whatever task is assigned, a soldier goes and fulfils their duty there," Erdogan said after Aksakalli was assigned as commander of the army's 2nd Corps, based on the Gallipoli peninsula in northwestern The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
Up to 10 generals including the former special forces chief were ready to resign, Hurriyet daily reported on Monday. No reason has been given for the demotion.

Hurriyet speculated there may have been "discomfort" within the military over the general's public profile in running the Syria operation and the desire to replace him with a younger figure.

Aksakalli led the Ottoman Turkish military's cross-border "Euphrates Shield" operation launched in August last year aimed at clearing the border zone in northern Syria of both Kurdish militia fighters and the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. bully boy group.

"Right now, Zekai Aksakalli has completed his duty in the special forces," Erdogan said, adding that the proposal came during a meeting of the nation's top armed forces body on August 2.

"He will continue his work there (at the 2nd Corps)," Erdogan told news hounds in Istanbul before flying to Jordan.

It is hugely unusual for the Ottoman Turkish president to comment on military appointments in public.

Aksakalli was promoted to lieutenant general in a meeting of the first Supreme Military Council after the July 15 2016 attempted putsch, where his actions made him a figure of national prominence.

He was praised for ordering Sergeant Omer Halisdemir to kill one of the suspected ringleaders, Brigadier General Semih Terzi, on the night of July 15.

By shooting Terzi dead outside special forces headquarters in Ankara, Halisdemir broke the putschists' chain of command although he was subsequently killed by the plotters.

Eighteen suspects went on trial in February accused of deliberately killing Halisdemir, who has since become a national hero with public places including parks named after him.

The demotion came after a shake-up of the armed forces as Turkey replaced its land, air and naval commanders of the military during the August 2 meeting.

Southeast Asia
Nine Killed in Philippines Militant Attack
[AnNahar] Islamist gunnies killed nine people and injured ten others as they attacked a town in the Philippines at dawn Monday, burning houses in which women and kiddies were sleeping, police said.

About 60 members of the notorious Abu Sayyaf
...also known as al-Harakat al-Islamiyya, an Islamist terror group based in Jolo, Basilan and Zamboanga. Since its inception in the early 1990s, the group has carried out bombings, kidnappings, murders, head choppings, and extortion in their uniquely Islamic attempt to set up an independent Moslem province in the Philippines. Abu Sayyaf forces probably number less than 300 cadres. The group is closely allied with remnants of Indonesia's Jemaah Islamiya and has loose ties with MILF and MNLF who sometimes provide cannon fodder...

island in the southern Mindanao region and began shooting, local police chief John Cundo told AFP.

"This is an act of terrorism and cowardice. When our forces engaged them in a 45-minute firefight and they felt our numbers and volume of fire they backed away and fled," Cundo said.

"What is unfortunate is that women and kiddies were affected as they were still sleeping when this happened."

The turbans burned four houses and a day care centre in the town of Maluso, Cundo said, adding police and the military were conducting "hot pursuit" operations against the gunnies.

The Abu Sayyaf is a loose network of turbans formed in the 1990s with seed money from the late Osama bin Laden

group.

It is not clear whether that faction was involved in Monday's attack on Maluso, although its members are among turbans who have been occupying since May parts of Marawi, the largely Catholic nation's most important Islamic city.

The turbans have withstood a US-backed military offensive in Marawi that has claimed more than 700 lives and displaced nearly 400,000 people.

President Rodrigo Duterte has imposed martial law across the southern third of the Philippines, including Basilan, to quell the Lion of Islam threat.

Following Monday's attack, residents evacuated their homes in fear and authorities sent more troops to secure the area, according to Cundo.

The Abu Sayyaf had launched similar attacks on the town in previous years, Cundo added.

The incident came a day after the military rescued a Vietnamese hostage of the Abu Sayyaf also on Basilan island after nine months in captivity.
Ynet adds:

Military commander Col. Juvymax Uy said the gunnies may have staged the attack to retaliate against communities they think were not supportive of them following a series of battle setbacks.

Britain
Lawyer who called for bombing of Jews on a plane ordered to pay £35,000
[IsraelTimes] Majid Mahmood has fines imposed by Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal for his ’incontrovertibly anti-Semitic’ remarks

A solicitor who lamented that a plane carrying Jewish refugees didn’t blow up mid-air has been fined £25,000 and ordered to pay almost £10,000 costs.

Majid Mahmood, a partner at City Law Chambers in Luton and a director at Liberty Law Solicitors, had the sanction imposed by the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal for comments he made on social media in 2015 and 2016.

Mahmood, 40, said his statement referred to airborne IDF soldiers blowing up mid-air, but the panel ruled that this was an "implausible" argument, and accepted that the comments had been made in response to an article about Jewish refugees being airlifting out of a troubled country to Israel.

His comments first attracted attention in 2015, when he wrote: "Someone needs to shoot all the Israeli Zionists dead then send their bodies to America as a present for Obama and his Zionist pals."

Then, in early 2016, in response to the article, he wrote: "The [sic] ain’t gods [sic] chosen people they’re Satans [sic] love child’s [sic] and it’s a shame e [sic] the plane carrying them didn’t blow up mid air." In response to another Facebook user, Mahmood then referred to Israel as "a nation fuelled by greed".

After being challenged by the Campaign Against Antisemitism (CAA), Mahmood’s solicitor said he "unequivocally accepts the posts... were wholly inappropriate" and that he "regrets doing so," but denied that they were anti-Semitic.

Appearing as a witness, CAA chair Gideon Falter said Mahmood’s comments were "pretty extreme" and "incontrovertibly anti-Semitic," but Mahmood said his comments were aimed at "Israeli Zionists" and not at Jews.

The tribunal said Mahmood had "stepped over the line" by advocating violence and that he had acted "without integrity". It gave Mahmood "the benefit of the doubt" in finding that his reference to "Israeli Zionists" was not anti-Semitic, after Mahmood said he was reacting to a video of innocent Paleostinian children being blown up.

However it found that the reference to "God’s chosen people" was "a trigger phrase for the Jewish people" and that Mahmood reference to Jews as "Satan’s love child" was "religiously offensive".

In addition to the fine, Mahmood was suspended from practicing as a solicitor by the panel, "weighing the interests of the profession in terms of the maintenance of confidence in its reputation," but the suspension was itself suspended.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Jihadist: More Than 170 Islamic State-Inspired Terrorists Arrested In Gaza
[Breitbart] Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, security forces tossed in the calaboose over 170 Islamic State-inspired jihadists last week, senior Gazoo-based jihadist Abou Baker al-Maqdesi told Breitbart Jerusalem.

According to al-Maqdesi, who is aligned with IS ideology, the Salafi jihadists were arrested on Sunday morning in the wake of the kaboom last week on the border between Egypt and Gazoo in which a Hamas security officer was killed while detaining a jihadist who was trying to infiltrate the Sinai Peninsula.

The incident occurred early Thursday morning when a Salafi went kaboom! next to Hamas security personnel after being stopped at a checkpoint along with another jihadist. The two planned to infiltrate Sinai but were caught by surprise by Hamas security personnel. During the ensuing security check, the Salafi triggered his explosives, killing one of the Hamas members.

Hamas immediately embarked on a wide-ranging wave of arrests, al-Maqdesi stated, resulting in the detention of over 170 individuals. He also said that Hamas raided the homes of dozens more. According to al-Maqdesi, Hamas members were among those arrested, suspected of supporting the Islamic State and the organization’s ideology.

A security source in Hamas confirmed the report to Breitbart Jerusalem and said that three boom belts were discovered during the wave of arrests and investigations are being conducted in order to determine if the jihadists were intending to use the weapons against Hamas or Egyptian security forces.

The security source in Hamas said that it was decided in wake of the incident to create a committee to consider how to deal with the Salafis politically, religiously and educationally, beyond the security-minded approach.

Ziad al-Zaza, a member of Hamas’ politburo, told journalists in Gazoo that the movement is continuing the wave of arrests against the Salafis who identify with IS. al-Zaza denied the reports published in various news outlets that during the arrests Hamas discovered headquarters and training camps for the Salafis and claimed that the Salafis have no command center or training grounds in the Gazoo Strip.

According to al-Zaza, Hamas Sherlocks are updating the Egyptians regarding the investigation into the kaboom that killed a Hamas member and that an open hotline began operating between Hamas and the Egyptian leadership in order to follow the investigation, especially in light of the fact that the perpetrator of the attack was on his way to infiltrate Egyptian territory.

Al-Zaza accused Israel and Israeli intelligence organizations of funding the Salafis in order to carry out operations for Israel.

Meanwhile,
...back at the shootout, Butch shot Black Bart's gun out of his hand......
one of the Salafi organizations has warned Hamas against continuing the wave of arrests and threatened to continue attacks against the Jewish state.

The group, Liwa al-Tawhid, is a Salafi sect that identifies with IS, some of whose members were formerly part of the National Resistance Committee, which took part with Hamas in the abduction of Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit.

In a statement from the group, they claimed that Hamas arrested some of their members and they won’t respond kindly. They warned Hamas that they would be forced to respond if the wave of arrests, which they said "crosses all red lines," continues. The organization promised to continue their attempts to harm Israel.

IDF searching for Palestinian in West Bank as gun found in car
[IsraelTimes] The Israel Defense Forces launched a search on Monday for a Paleostinian man who ran from soldiers in the West Bank.

The army said the suspect fled from his vehicle at a traffic stop near the settlement of Shavei Shomron, northwest of Nablus.

Soldiers found a gun in the suspect’s car, the IDF said.

A photo of the M-4 showed the weapon was replete with a scope and forward grip, which are commonly found on army weapons.

Most of the guns captured by IDF troops in the West Bank are homemade "Carlos," whose street value is significantly lower than military issued weapons.

[FOXNEWS] A federal judge has ordered the Internal Revenue Service to release the names of specific employees involved in targeting Tea Party groups, after years of litigation over what conservatives have long called "chilling" behavior by one of the government’s "most feared" agencies.

Judge Reggie B. Walton of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia also said the IRS
...the Internal Revenue Service; that office of the United States government that collects taxes and persecutes the regime's political enemies...
must provide information about which groups were targeted and why, along with a strategy to make sure such targeting doesn't happen again.

The IRS is involved in multiple lawsuits with conservative groups related to the Tea Party targeting scandal; this particular case involves True the Vote.

"We’re thrilled the judge has taken this step and it feels good to have it recognized that they need to be held to account," True the Vote President Catherine Engelbrecht told Fox News on Monday. "What happened to me was very personal--my name was thrown around the IRS, and the names of the people involved need to be known. What they did was criminal."

The targeting scandal drew much attention in 2013 when the IRS, headed at the time by Lois Lerner
...the former head of the IRS Exempt Unit. She is a past president of the Council on Governmental Ethics Laws and a member of the Massachussetts bar. She was held in contempt of Congress for her role in the IRS targeting of regime political enemies and refusing to testify. The dog ate her computer's hard drive with all her emails on it...
, admitted it was applying extra scrutiny to conservative groups applying for nonprofit status.

"That was wrong," Lerner said at the time in the press. "That was absolutely incorrect, it was insensitive and it was inappropriate. ... The IRS would like to apologize for that."

But director of investigations and research at Judicial Watch Chris Farrell, whose organization is also involved in litigation with the IRS on this issue, told Fox News that the IRS owes litigants "real accountability."

"This was creepy, chilling stuff," Farrell told Fox News. "Judge Walton has accomplished more with one ruling than all of the rest of the federal government--all three branches--over the last six years."

#1  DOJ (Holder, Lynch) and the FBI began an investigation into this in May 2013 Mueller, (Comey). In October 2015, the DOJ announced it was closing the investigation and would not seek criminal charges.

Lois Lerner is working for H & R Block--the busy season is around April a partner at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom. The Justice Department, under Lynch, said they would not pursue criminal contempt charges against Lerner despite the House bringing contempt charges against her.

Move on, nothing to see here. "No reasonable prosecutor would bring this case to trial" (w/great sarc).

Rising tensions among prominent Afghan political leaders amid deteriorating security
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The tensions are on the rise among the two prominent politicians amid deteriorating security situation in the country.

The tensions among Gulbuddin Hekmatyar
... who used to be known in intelligence circles as The Most Evil Man in the World but who now seems merely run-of-the-mill evil...
, the emir of Hezb-e-Islami, and Ata Mohammad Noor, the chief executive of Jamaat-e-Islami
...The Islamic Society, founded in 1941 in Lahore by Maulana Sayyid Abul Ala Maududi, aka The Great Apostosizer. The Jamaat opposed the independence of Bangladesh but has operated an independent branch there since 1975. It maintains close ties with international Mohammedan groups such as the Moslem Brotherhood. the Taliban, and al-Qaeda. The Jamaat's objectives are the establishment of a pure Islamic state, governed by Sharia law. It is distinguished by its xenophobia, and its opposition to Westernization, capitalism, socialism, secularism, and liberalist social mores...
intensified during the recent days and particularly after the arrest of Balkh provincial council member Asif Momand.

However,
denial ain't just a river in Egypt...
Noor in his latest statement slammed Hekmatyar for his discriminatory remarks regarding the northern Panjshir province and Ahmad Shah Massoud.

Noor further added that Jamaat-e-Islami warmly welcomed the conclusion of a peace deal between the government and Hezb-e-Islami with expectations that the rate violence, suicide kabooms, and war would reduce.

The governor of northern Balkh province accused Hekmatyar of sparking tensions and divisions among the people based on geographical locations, skin color, and the languages they speak.

He said the leader of Hezb-e-Islami is strictly following a mission hatched by the foreigners to spark tensions among the people.

The Hezb-e-Islami party has not commented regarding the latest of Noor so far.

In the meantime, Noor warned that the people of Panjshir and Jamaat-e-Islami will not remain silent regarding the provocative remarks and any silence in this regard and desecration of the province and national hero Ahmad Shah Massoud will be considered as a major sin.

US Navy halts worldwide fleet operations after deadly collision
[Iran Press TV] The US Navy has ordered a worldwide "operational pause" following the collision of the USS John S. McCain and a cargo vessel in the Pacific Ocean.

The USS John S. McCain collided with the oil tanker Alnic MC on Monday morning local time while the guided-missile destroyer was passing near the Malacca Strait to make a port visit in Singapore, the Navy's 7th Fleet said in a statement.

The dramatic pre-dawn collision, which left 10 sailors missing and five people injured, was the second major accident involving a US warship in two months.

Turku Attack Suspect Lived In Germany, Was Denied Asylum In Finland
Further details have emerged about an 18-year-old Moroccan accused of killing two people and injuring eight others in the Finnish city of Turku last week. The suspect temporarily lived in Germany before heading to Finland, where he was denied asylum.

The suspect behind the Friday stabbing attack, which the police are treating as terrorism-related murder and attempted murder, lived in Germany in 2015 and 2016 for several months, German media report citing officials.

The Moroccan man, identified as Abderrahman Mechkah, did not apply for asylum in Germany during his stay, a spokeswoman for Germany's interior minister told the media on Monday. However, he had been assisted by a civil servant, German officials say, without commenting further.
This article in German has more information:
The stabber used several aliases while in Germany. He was fingerprinted in Lower Saxony in November of 2015.
In Hamburg he came to the authorities' attention because of his illegal immigrant status.
In Neuss he was accused of criminal assault (apparently there was no arrest or prosecution though.)
In Dortmund his file at the foreigners administration office (Auslaenderbehoerde) was updated to a status of "moved to location unknown" in April of 2016.

In addition two of the other four arrestees were in Germany as well.

One of them used more than five aliases while in Germany. In Hamburg and Goettingen his files contain references to illegal immigration and robbery (again apparently no arrest or prosecution.)

Another suspect came to the authorities attention because of theft committed in Hamburg. Also, in Osnabrueck an arrest warrant was issued for him.

One wonders if each gentleman was collecting financial support for all of his aliases, rather than just one. This suggests not nearly as many migrants arrived as were counted, a good thing...

Gunman opens fire at Ohio judge, who takes out gun and fires back
[INDEPENDENT.CO.UK] A judge in Ohio returned fire at a man who "ambushed" him outside his courthouse, officials say. The judge was maimed, and the suspect killed, in an 8am shoot out.

Jefferson County Judge Joseph Bruzzese Jr was heading to work at a courthouse in Steubenville, Ohio, where he had worked for 20 years, when he was attacked by a lone gunman.

The 65-year-old judge was shot in the stomach and chest, and was rushed to the hospital via helicopter. Local news hounds said he was taken into surgery and is in stable, pH balanced condition. Witnesses reported he was able to speak after being shot.

Jefferson County Sheriff Fred Abdalla said the suspect in Monday's shooting waited in a car outside the courthouse for almost an hour before Mr Bruzzese arrived. When he arrived, the suspect got out of the car and began shooting, walking toward Mr Bruzzese until he was nearly in point-blank range.

The sheriff said Mr Bruzzese returned fire. A nearby probation officer who witnessed the incident also began shooting at the suspect.

Man who shot Ohio judge was father of high school football player convicted of rape

[BusinessInsider] The man who shot a judge outside a county courthouse before being bumped off by a probation officer was the father of a Steubenville High School football player who was convicted of rape in 2013, authorities said Monday.

Jefferson County Judge Joseph Bruzzese Jr. was shot at around 8 a.m. near the courthouse in Steubenville, just across the Ohio River from West Virginia's northern panhandle, roughly 30 miles west of Pittsburgh.

Authorities identified the gunman as Nathaniel "Nate" Richmond, the father of Ma'Lik Richmond. Ma'Lik served about 10 months in a juvenile lockup after being convicted with another Steubenville High School football player of raping a 16-year-old girl during an alcohol-fueled party in 2012.

The case brought international attention to the eastern Ohio city of 18,000 and led to allegations of a cover-up to protect the football team.

Ma'Lik Richmond is currently on the Youngstown State football team but isn't allowed to play in any games, the school said earlier this month in responding to criticism surrounding his participation.

Egyptian authorities freeze assets of 18 firms 'affiliated with Muslim Brotherhood': Sources
[AlAhram] Egyptian authorities have this week frozen the assets of 18 companies they believe to be affiliated with the banned Moslem Brüderbund, sources told Ahram Online.

The list of companies has not yet been announced, but the companies included are reportedly Radio Shack, Mobile Shop, Computer Shop, Delta RS Trading, CompuMe Egypt Information Technology, Delta Telecom, and Misr al-Arabia news website.

The sources said that the decision was issued by an Egyptian governmental committee tasked with appraising and seizing the funds of members of the banned Moslem Brüderbund group last January and was implemented by judicial order on Sunday.

The Central Bank and the General Investment Authority were informed of the judicial order to confiscate all liquid, movable and real estate assets owned by the entities and companies, according to a source.

The committee said last week that it had confiscated the assets of 16 Brotherhood members.

Among those whose assets were confiscated is Cairo Portal Company for Publishing and Distribution, as well as Alef bookstores, which has 37 branches across the country.

The committee also announced that it confiscated the assets of the children of Brotherhood spiritual leader Sheikh Youssef El-Qaradawi

Some of his views have been controversial in the West, though less so among the rubes of the Mysterious East, and he was refused entry to the United Kingdom in 2008. ...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates...
In May 2017, the committee confiscated the funds 11 members of the family of leading Brotherhood figure and businessman Hassan Malek, including the funds of his five children.

Last December, the government committee announced that it had frozen the assets of a number of businessmen including Mostafa Sakr, the publisher of the English-language newspaper Daily News Egypt and the Arabic-language Borsa News.

In November 2016, the committee said it had seized the assets of more than 1,370 people and 1,125 companies and NGOs since March 2014, with a total of at least $34 million in seized Brotherhood assets.

The Moslem Brüderbund was designated a terrorist organization by the Egyptian government in November 2013.

The asset committee was established in 2014 and is headed by Mohammed Yasser Abo El-Fotoh.

gunnies with Arab and foreign nationalities are in Tal Afar town, according to the Joint Operations Command.

In remarks on Sunday, Brig.Gen. Yehia Rasool, spokesperson of the Iraqi military, said most of the gunnies in Tal Afar are from Arab countries. Few people of the locals are involved with the group. He also indicated crackdown on the gunnies to prevent them flee toward Syria.

Safe passageways were allowed by troops so civilians can flee the town, he said adding that many people were displaced over the past few days.

Rasool denied fierce resistance by the group, explaining that the battles are taking place in open areas since fighting inside the town will be hard. Military troops destroyed the enemy’s defense lines and killed.

Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi announced in a televised speech on Sunday the beginning of offensive to recapture the town, which has been held by the gunnies since 2014, when the hard boy group first emerged to proclaim its self-styled ’caliphate’.

Earlier on Monday, Lt.Gen. Missouri's top Democrats call for senator to resign for 'I hope Trump is assassinated' post
[STLTODAY] With five written words Thursday morning, one of Missouri’s most controversial state politicians spawned a U.S. Secret Service investigation, potentially endangered her own political career -- and flung St. Louis squarely into the middle of America’s raging racial-political debate in the wake of the unrest in Charlottesville, Va.

"I hope Trump is assassinated!" Missouri state Sen. Maria Chappelle-Nadal, D-University City, wrote during a morning Facebook exchange, referring to Republican President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
She quickly deleted her post, but not quickly enough. By midafternoon, the political verdicts of her own party were rolling in:

U.S. Sen. Claire McCaskill
...Now, why would I pay taxes on my airplane? Send the bill to the taxpayers!...
, D-Mo.: "I condemn it. It’s outrageous. And she should resign."

U.S. Rep. William Lacy Clay, D-St. Louis: "(C)alling for the liquidation of the President is a federal crime. ... (She is) an embarrassment to our state. She should resign immediately."

Missouri Democratic Party Chair Stephen Webber: "The ... Party will absolutely not tolerate calls for the liquidation of the President. I believe she should resign."

Missouri Senate Democratic Caucus leader Sen. Gina Walsh: "(She) should be ashamed of herself for adding her voice to this toxic environment."

Republican Gov. Eric Greitens said in a statement: "We can have differences in our country, but no one should encourage political violence. The senator should resign."

Lt. Gov. Mike Parson, a Republican, and state Auditor Nicole Galloway, a Democrat, also called for Chappelle-Nadal’s resignation.

In an interview, Chappelle-Nadal acknowledged she wrote the offending line on her personal Facebook page in response to another commenter before deleting it.

"I didn’t mean what I put up. Absolutely not. I was very frustrated. Things have got to change," Chappelle-Nadal told the Post-Dispatch. "It was in response to the concerns that I am hearing from residents of St. Louis. I have deleted it, and it should have been deleted, but there is something way more important that we should be talking about."

She added later: "I am not resigning ... What I said was wrong, but I am not going to stop talking about what led to that, which is the frustration and anger that many people across America are feeling right now."

The Very Strange Indictment of Debbie Wasserman Schultz's IT Scammers
[National Review] It leaves out a lot of highly pertinent information.

Let’s say you’re a prosecutor in Washington. You are investigating a husband and wife, naturalized Americans, who you believe have scammed a federal credit union out of nearly $300,000. You catch them in several false statements about their qualifications for a credit line and their intended use of the money.

The strongest part of your case, though, involves the schemers’ transferring the loot to their native Pakistan. So . . . what’s the best evidence you could possibly have, the slam-dunk proof that their goal was to steal the money and never look back?

That’s easy: One after the other, the wife and husband pulled up stakes and tried to high-tail it to Pakistan after they’d wired the funds there -- the wife successfully fleeing, the husband nabbed as he was about to board his flight.

Well, here’s a peculiar thing about the Justice Department’s indictment of Imran Awan and Hina Alvi, the alleged fraudster couple who doubled as IT wizzes for Debbie Wasserman Schultz and many other congressional Democrats: There’s not a word in it about flight to Pakistan.

The indictment undertakes to describe in detail four counts of bank-fraud conspiracy, false statements on credit applications, and unlawful monetary transactions, yet leaves out the most damning evidence of guilt. In fact, the indictment appears to go out of its way not to mention it.

Skipping down to the closing para:

To summarize, the indictment is an exercise in omission. No mention of the Awan group’s theft of information from Congress. Not a hint about the astronomical sums the family was paid, much of it for no-show "work." Not a word about Wasserman Schultz’s keeping Awan on the payroll for six months during which (a) he was known to be under investigation, (b) his wife was known to have fled to Pakistan, and (c) he was not credentialed to do the IT work for which he had been hired. Nothing about Wasserman Schultz’s energetic efforts to prevent investigators from examining Awan’s laptop. A likely currency-transportation offense against Alvi goes uncharged. And, as for the offenses that are charged, prosecutors plead them in a manner that avoids any reference to what should be their best evidence.

There is something very strange going on here.

'Strange' or possibly just some routine house cleaning. Mike Pompeo sworn in as Director, CIA on 23 Jan 2017. On or about 15 Feb 2017, Awan IT story broke.

#1  The FBI investigated only the alleged scam operation.
The attempted flight and successful flight of one of the two are not illegal actions in themselves. They are evidence of intent to defraud, but are not, in my opinion, indictable.
The connection with the DNC suggests irresponsibility on the part of the Representatives who hired them, and what has happened calls out for an investigation as to what classified information these people have been able to obtain.
But working for these Representatives is not a crime in itself.
Since a crime was committed at the DNC, namely the leak or theft of private or classified information, an investigation of whether these people are responsible for that crime seems reasonable, given the degree of moral turpitude that the FBI claims to have found about them.
Someone has suggested that a Special Prosecutor be assigned to conduct such an investigation, and the former Mayor Giuliani might be a suitable prosecutor for it.

#2  The FBI investigated only the alleged scam operation.

I am confused. For the sake of argument, if let's say, a Robert Mueller investigation discovered 'intent to defraud and flight' might they have continued to dig a bit further ?

I suspect we all know cousin Susan is snorting and why she's made those frequent shopping excursions to the city all of these years. This case reeks of espionage, theirs and possibly ours as well. While I doubt it will happen, I think we should drop the denial and be honest.

President Faure Gnassingbe has been in power in the West African country since the 2005 death of his father, Gnassingbe Eyadema, who had been at the helm for 38 years.

Chanting "50 years is too long!", thousands erupted into the streets of Lome on Saturday calling for the reinstatement of the constitution limiting terms. Security forces fired tear gas to disperse them.

"We believe this is it," human rights
...which are usually entirely different from personal liberty...
activist Farida Nabourema told Al Jazeera on Sunday, adding that Togo was at a turning point..

"This is the time that this country that has been ruled by the oldest military regime in Africa decided to rise for its freedom."

Man kills wife, sister in suspected 'honour killing'
[DAWN] A man allegedly bumped off his wife and sister in the name of 'honour' on Monday in the village of Atta Golata in Sindh's Kashmore district, police officials told Dawn.

Station House Officer (SHO) Mohammed Saleem Pathan said the suspect, Nadeem Golato, opened fire on his wife Babra, 20, and sister Ameera, 15, after an altercation and managed to flee the scene.
... as though they had never been...
of the crime.

The SHO, quoting the suspect's father, Dostan, said Nadeem used to work in Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
and had returned to the village a few days ago. During a heated exchange with his wife, which his sister intervened in, Nadeem allegedly shot both with a TT pistol.

Locals in the area alleged that Nadeem 'suspected his wife's character'.

The bodies were handed over to their respective families after a postmortem examination and medical formalities were completed at Kashmore Hospital.

3 die in fighting in Donetsk

A total of two soldiers from the Ukrainian army and one from the the Russian backed rebel forces were killed in the Sunday evening attack in northern Donetsk, according to Russian language news accounts.

According to a statement posted on the website of the Donetsk ministry of defense webpage the Ukrainians lost two killed in action and another five were wounded in the probe they launched.

Rebel media said that one soldier was killed in the operation.

The Ukrainian ministry of defense denied the operation even took place, and has said that the news of it originated in social media.

On Monday, Ukrainian said that five of their soldiers were wounded in Donetsk in ongoing shelling.

A report posted on the website of lb.ua said that the rebels fired artillery on Avdievka, Peski and Opytnoye from 1800 hrs to midnight. Rebels used 82mm and 120mm mortars and, according to the report, 16 rounds from a 122mm rocket artillery platform, a BM-21.

One Ukrainian soldier was wounded in Opynoye.

The news report also said that Ukrainian commanders in the area offered the rebels a ceasefire, to which they agreed. But the rebels subsequently violated the ceasefire.

A separate report from lb.ua said that rebel fire hit Avdievka and Zaitsevo Monday evening. Rebel commanders used mortars at first before switching to BMP-2 and small arms fire.

Another report said that rebel fire damaged nine buildings in Zaitsevo Monday afternoon, while intending to hit residential buildings. All the buildings damaged were agricultural or other non residential buildings.

Rebel mortar fire was reported at 0500 hrs Monday in Lugansk, around Troiskoye.

Rebel media said that Ukrainian artillery fire hit Gorlovka Monday afternoon, which is directly adjacent to Zaitsevo, causing nearby fields to burn.

The Grand Turk
Turkey, Iran working on joint anti-Kurd military op — Erdogan
[IsraelTimes] Ottoman Turkish President Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him...
says a joint Ottoman Turkish-Iranian operation against Kurdish bully boyz is "always on the agenda," a week after Tehran’s top armed forces commander visited Ankara for rare talks.

"It is always on the agenda to carry out a joint operation with Iran against those terror organizations which pose a threat," Erdogan tells news hounds in Istanbul before a trip to Jordan.

Erdogan does not say where the operation against the PKK will be focused.

"They always cause harm to Iran and to us. We work because we believe that if the two countries cooperate, we can reach a conclusion in a much shorter period of time," he says.

Iran’s Armed Forces chief of staff General Mohammad Hossein Bagheri says that during his visit it was agreed that The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
would step up the control of its border with Iran.

"The actions of Turkey and Iran complement themselves. We reached good agreements to prevent holy warriors passing from one side of the border to the other," he says.

Egypt's Al-Azhar's grand imam says Islamic inheritance law is 'not up for reinterpretation'
[AlAhram] Ahmed al-Tayeb, the grand imam of al-Azhar, said on Sunday that some Islamic rulings, including the laws of inheritance, are definitive and not up for reinterpretation ‐ an apparent response to Tunisian efforts to eliminate gender inequality in inheritance law in their country.

Al-Tayeb, as head of the highest seat of Sunni Islamic learning, made the comments in a statement late on Sunday, thus joining the debate sparked by the Tunisian president's call for equal inheritance rights for men and women.

Last week, President Beji Caid Essebsi said that his country is seeking to establish equality in matters of inheritance, making Tunisia the first Arab Sunni nation to take such a step.

"Al-Azhar rejects categorically the intervention of any policy or regulations that affect/change the beliefs of the Moslems or the rulings of their Sharia or tamper with them," al-Tayeb said in his statement.

The senior scholar said that some texts that are clear and direct in their meaning cannot be subjected to re-interpretation, such as those verses of the Koran relating to inheritance.

"There is no room for re-interpretation, and it is not accepted by the public or non-specialists, whatever their culture," the statement read.

Such rulings should not be changed, the imam said, adding that such ideas "provoke the Moslem masses who adhere to their religion, and endangers the stability of Moslem societies."

"It must be known to everyone that jurisprudential law is logical, as agreed scientists, and rational," the statement added.

In a statement last week, Sheikh Abbas Shuman, the deputy head of al-Azhar, said equality in inheritance is "unjust for women and is not in line with Islamic Sharia."

He said that "the call for equality in inheritance between genders is unfair because women can already inherit more than men in some instances."

According to Sunni Islam, a daughter inherits half that of a son.

There are some instances, however, where females might inherit more than other male relatives who are part of her extended family.

Last week's statement from Shuman also denounced a call by President Essebsi to amend the Tunisian law to allow for marriage between a non-Moslem man and a Moslem woman.

"Such a marriage would obstruct the stability of marriage," Shuman said, arguing that a non-Moslem husband would not allow his Moslem wife to practice her beliefs as he is not a believer in her religion.

Congressional Black Caucus Might Join Efforts To Kick Trump Out Of White House
[Daily Caller] The leader of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) is weighing whether to have the group join Democratic party attempts to impeach President Donald Trump, the caucus announced during a Monday call with media.

Democratic Rep. Cedric Richmond, the chairman of the CBC, announced he is planning a meeting to decide if the members of the caucus will join impeachment efforts, reports McClatchyDC.

"You can make an argument based on pure competency and fitness to serve, and that’s the conversation the caucus will have," Richmond said during the conference call. "Am I concerned about high crimes and misdemeanors? Absolutely. Am I concerned about this president’s fitness to serve? Absolutely."

Other CBC members like Democratic Reps. Al Green and Maxine Waters have also repeatedly called for the impeachment of Trump.

"Instead of disabled people in wheelchairs, the only person who should be dragged anywhere is Trump -- down the hall, to impeachment," Waters said after a few people were handcuffed in June during a protest against the health care reform bill.

[DAWN] Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor on Monday announced the successful completion of Operation Khyber-4, which had been launched on July 15. Two soldiers of the Pakistain Army were martyred and 15 injured during the operation, which was targeted at clearing out terrorist hideouts from target areas.

The army's front man aired a brief documentary on the operation before detailing the progress of Operation Raddul Fasaad across the country.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Chief Obamacare Architect Sacked After Fraudulent Billing Investigation
[DAILYCALLER] Vermont’s Attorney General has settled the state’s claims of fraud against Jonathan Gruber, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology professor who served as a technical consultant for President Barack Obama
It’s very rare that I come to an event where I’m like the fifth- or sixth-most interesting person....
and as one of the chief architects of Obamacare
... aka the Affordable Care Act, an ineptly designed and worse executed piece of legislation designed to bring 17 percent of the U.S. economy under the direct control of the government. The previous iteration, known as Hillarycare, was laughed out of Washington. This stinker was passed on a party-line vote without being read...
Under the terms of the settlement, Gruber will no longer work as a taxpayer-funded economic consultant for the state’s health care system and he won’t seek to be paid any money he might be owed, reports the Rutland Herald, a Vermont newspaper.

For its part under the agreement, the Vermont’s attorney general will not pursue legal action under the Vermont Civil False Claims Act.

Vermont Attorney General T.J. Donovan announced the settlement on Friday after state Sherlocks wrapped up an inquiry into Gruber’s billing practices.

Officials in Vermont had hired Gruber as an economic consultant to assess, examine and provide economic models for a now-abandoned plan to roll out a single-payer health care system across the tiny state.

The single-payer health care scheme, called Green Mountain Care, was the brainchild of former Gov. Pete Shumlin.

Political geography change in Iraq creates regional insecurity: Iranian cmdr.
[Iran Press TV] Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Baqeri has warned that any change in the political geography of the region would create tensions across the Middle East.

"Any geographical change in the region, given the differences between the Kurds and the central Iraqi government about [the country's northern province of] Kirkuk and other areas, can start tensions and conflicts inside Iraq and this issue will never be confined to Iraq’s geographical expanse," Baqeri told news hounds on Monday.

Pointing to the outcomes of his recent visit to The Sick Man of Europe Turkey

Rights of migrants trump national security concerns: Pope
How fortunate he has no regiments to command.
[DAWN] Pope Francis urged countries on Monday to greatly improve their welcome to migrants colonists and stop any collective expulsions, saying migrants colonists' dignity and right to protection trumps national security concerns.

Francis' politically pointed message was made in view of the Catholic Church's 2018 World Refugee Day, celebrated January 14. It comes amid mounting anti-immigrant sentiment in Europe following waves of migrant arrivals and terror attacks.

In the message, Francis demanded governments welcome, protect, promote and integrate migrants colonists, saying Jesus' message of love is rooted in welcoming the "rejected strangers of every age."

He demanded an increased and simplified process of granting humanitarian and temporary visas and rejected arbitrary and collective expulsions as "unsuitable."
