The Navy – It's Not a Job, It's a Total Cluster
[US Defense Watch] The US Navy, the mighty and heroic service that beat the tar out of America’s enemies for 240 years; the force that won brilliant victories at Midway, Manila Bay, Leyte Gulf, Lake Erie and a thousand other places is no more.

The US Navy that refused to surrender and ’had not begun to fight’ under the leadership of John Paul Jones, is now too incompetent to fight anyone; and every American should be seriously concerned.

To paraphrase Oliver Perry, "We have met the enemy and it is cultural Marxism and social engineering."

The latest debacle to engulf the Navy was reported yesterday in a myriad of media outlets, including US Defense Watch.

#1  I spent 10.5 years in U. Sam's Navy. I exited because I wanted a stable family. When my sub went into upkeep, 5% of the crew were married. The number increased to 95% after refueling and returned to 5% after first deployment. 3months in and 3m out. The surface Navy is even worse. God bless our sailors and I hope the brass get their heads out of their sanitary tank.

Sadly, that's because flying hours have been cut back because of budget and maintenance cuts.

Equifax Announces Data Breach Potentially Affecting 143 Million Americans

#1  After working in IT for 20 years it is still surprising that major companies with sensitive data don't take the basic steps needed to secure things.

Most of the AARs of breaches come from not doing upgrades, sloppy design and outright negligence of the IT staff and management. In cases like this, these companies need to be sued into bankruptcy and driven out of business. Data is so valuable nowdays and it going into the wrong hands can fuck up the average person's life in an instant.

Think of it as binary gold and treat it as such, you fucking idiots. Maybe other dipshits will learn from your mistakes.

#4  I went to the Equifax webpage dedicated to this subject. As of last night, 200,000+ individuals are known to be affected as the result of a forensic investigation nearing completion; all those affected will be emailed information, then provided the usual protections for those who have been hacked. Additionally, the FBI, etc. have been informed, and are presumably doing what they do.

I have not yet received an email.

Very stupid and dangerous, yes, but the headline is maximalist possibility on this thing.

#5  "Three Equifax Inc. senior executives sold shares worth almost $1.8 million in the days after the company discovered a security breach that may have compromised information on about 143 million U.S. consumers."

But, of course, it was a coincidence as they had no knowledge of the breach....right

#9  Equifax learned of the hack July 28th. So, they didn't tell anybody (*wink*) til NOW, AND to sign up for their free credit watch you have to sign away your right to sue them. I don't think that will fly

#10  Government and private corporations are going to keep collecting information about us, and they will never be 100% proof against breaches like this. Already 10 years ago you could get anyone's SSN online. The situation hasn't improved, and it isn't going to improve. After all, since when is government or a large corporation an exemplar of competence?

I'd like to see Congress make it illegal to use a SSN for any non-government purpose. The credit bureaus, health providers, employers and everyone else can come up with their own unique identifiers. This provides at least 2 immediate benefits - a breach means your ID is blown with one provider, not all of them. Also, any private identifier can be changed, whereas changing an SSN is nearly impossible.

Perfect? No. Better than the status quo? Absolutely.

#11  Iblis. That is the process some of the better credit card processing companies use. Your encripted card info goes to them during the initial part of a purchase only. After that a system assigned number is assigned and referenced until the transaction process is completed.

#12  When I was a young man and got a car loan or the like the banks would like to see assets (yours or others) sufficient to cover.
So a couple of titles copied and you had the loan.

This whole credit rating and listing all your debts and assets that Equifax, Transunion and the rest have been tracking is BS!

A potential creditor has no right to the knowledge of assets you don't wish to secure a loan with!

Plainly put: "It is none of their damn business!"

Also, when I was young, if you were in a business that handled peoples money or asset information you and your firm were required to be bonded for all possible damages.

Are Equifax, TransUnion and Experian bonded?

I kind of doubt it as bonding for 800,000,000 individuals per year would likely cost 2 trillion $ or more for an Internet based business like their with minimal bonding.

Beijing Suspected in Hacking Yacht Owned by Chinese Billionaire
China is suspected of hacking the electronics of a yacht owned by a Chinese billionaire targeted by Beijing.

Guo Wengui, who uses the English name Miles Kwok, said several incidents involving his 152-foot motor yacht, Lady May, appear to be part of a Chinese government effort to threaten and intimidate him.

The suspicious hacking took place in July on the Hudson River near New York City and left the ship temporarily unable to turn and in danger of colliding with nearby freighter.

AP Exclusive: Most Florida flood zone property not insured
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) ‐ As Hurricane Irma bears down on Florida, an Associated Press analysis shows a steep drop in flood insurance across the state, including the areas most endangered by what could be a devastating storm surge.

In just five years, the state’s total number of federal flood insurance policies has fallen by 15 percent, according to Federal Emergency Management Agency data.

Florida’s property owners still buy far more federal flood insurance than any other state ‐ 1.7 million policies, covering about $42 billion in assets ‐ but most residents in hazard zones are badly exposed.

#5  Flood insurance is expensive in hurricane'y Florida. And just in case you didn't know, it's the FEDS that underwrite flood insurance (most - all? - private insurance companies won't even issue it because it's too risky). I've always wondered if it's priced high enough to accomplish two things: 1.) actually cover the true monetary risks when there are claims writ large (or whether, as I suspect, there are built-in subsidies from the Feds to keep premiums lowers); 2.) discourage people from living in high-risk areas. Don't know about #1, but my guess is that #2 is around the corner for some of the folks who decided to take their chances without insurance.

Is it really the federal government's (read: taxpayer's) job to backstop your decision to live in a high-risk spot, whether by the sea, by a river or in the heart of New Orleans? Like so many government programs, it actually encourages bad behavior that we all get to pay for over and over again.

DOJ And FBI Staffers May Be Delaying Info On Trump Dossier Behind Backs Of Superiors
[Daily Caller] WASHINGTON ‐ Subpoenas sent to the Justice Department and FBI from the House Intelligence Committee requesting documents related to documents about the infamous Trump dossier are allegedly being held up by officials at the agencies behind the backs of Attorney General Jeff Sessions and FBI Director Christopher Wray.

"The House Intel Committee had repeatedly asked the agencies for documents related to the dossier since May. After the agencies failed to produce the documents following numerous requests, the committee sent out subpoenas on August 24, the Chairman sent a letter on September 1, and finally new subpoenas were issued on September 5," a congressional staffer told The Daily Caller Thursday.

"It’s hard to tell to whether Sessions and Wray are personally involved in these requests or whether people around them are slow-rolling this without keeping them fully informed," the staffer added.

The House Intel Committee as well as the Senate Judiciary Committee want to understand how the FBI became involved in the dossier as well as understand how the GPS Fusion dossier author, former British spy Christopher Steele, fits into the bureau’s investigation of Russian interference in the 2016 presidential campaign.

Hungarian PM Orban: ‘The Islamization of Europe Is Real'
[Breitbart] In a powerful address this week, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán stated that Hungary’s "fiercest opponents" do not come from within but from abroad, and that Europe is falling victim to "Islamization."

In his annual address to the Civic Picnic in Kötcse over the weekend, Orbán reiterated his opposition to heavy-handed outside influence in Hungarian affairs, as well as his conviction that Europeans have not yet come to grips with the real threat posed by Islam.

Citing studies which suggest that more than 60 million migrants will depart from Africa towards Europe during the next 20 years, increasing Western Europe’s Islamic population to above 20 percent by 2030, Orbán stated: "The Islamization of Europe is real," whereas in China or the United States "it doesn’t stand a chance."

Orbán has vigorously opposed the European Union’s imposition of migrant quotas on individual member states, insisting that such questions are matters of national sovereignty and must be decided by each country and its people.

Free Advice to Hillary - "Shut The F**k Up And Go Away!"
I wonder how long it'll take for this 'fundraiser' to be identified. Two days, max?
After days of the media reporting on leaked excerpts from Hillary's upcoming book entitled "What Happened," it now seems that some Democrats are growing just as weary of Hillary's perpetual excuses and endless clamoring for the spotlight as their colleagues on the right side of the aisle. According to The Hill, one rather blunt former Hillary fundraiser said that he wished "she’d just shut the f**k up and go away."

Not everyone was so charitable. Even some of Clinton’s allies have grown weary of her insistence on re-litigating the 2016 campaign at a time when the Democratic Party is looking to forge a new identity in the age of Trump.

"The best thing she could do is disappear," said one former Clinton fundraiser and surrogate who played an active role at the convention. "She’s doing harm to all of us because of her own selfishness. Honestly, I wish she’d just shut the f--- up and go away.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Aid convoy reaches Syria's Deir al-Zor after three-year siege
[Hurriyet Daily News] An aid convoy arrived at Deir al-Zor in eastern Syria on Sept. 7, bringing supplies to soldiers and civilians days after the Syrian army broke a three-year Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
of Iraq and the Levant (ISIS) siege, Syrian state media reported.

The Syrian army and its allies reached Deir al-Zor on Sept. 5 in a sudden advance following months of steady progress east across the desert. The army on Sept. 7 advanced against faceless myrmidons in a pocket they still hold further west, pro-Damascus media reported.

State TV broadcast footage of scores of residents cheering with relief in Deir al-Zor as the convoy arrived.
The United Nations
...boodling on the grand scale...
estimated that 93,000 civilians living under ISIS siege in Deir al-Zor had been in "extremely difficult" conditions, being supplied only by air drops.

The 40 trucks that reached the area carried basic needs such as fuel, food and medical supplies to civilians, and included two mobile clinics, state news agency SANA reported.

The army also holds another besieged enclave at the city's airbase, separated from its advancing forces by hundreds of metres of ISIS-held ground.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said on Sept. 7 that the army had not yet connected with that enclave, and was working on expanding its corridor from the west.

ISIS mortar fire on neighbourhoods still surrounded near the air base killed at least seven civilians and maimed dozens more on Sept. 7, the British-based monitoring group said.

Also on the same day, the army advanced against ISIS faceless myrmidons in countryside east of the city of Hama, a media unit run by Damascus ally Hezbollah reported.

The advance, which saw forces recapture two villages there, is part of efforts to drive the faceless myrmidons out of an isolated pocket of territory they control east of Hama and Homs.

Separately, the U.S. special envoy to the U.S.-led coalition against ISIS, Brett McGurk, said on Sept. 6 that a convoy of ISIS faceless myrmidons and families from the Syria-Leb border was still in open desert.

The coalition is using Arclight airstrikes to block the convoy from reaching ISIS-held territory in eastern Syria, to which the Syrian army and its ally Hezbollah were escorting it as part of a truce following fighting on the Syria-Leb border.

Rep. Ileana Ros Lehtinen's letter, an FBI-raided donor's port deal, and the Bob Menendez scandal
[Miami Herald] At first glance, Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen’s letter to the Dominican Republic’s ambassador to the United States looks like standard fare for a chair of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs.

"Recent reports that the illicit drug trade and the presence of drug cartels may shift towards the Dominican Republic are of increasing concern to the Committee," the Miami Republican, then committee chair, wrote Ambassador Aníbal de Castro April 10, 2012.

"I am interested to hear what specific steps your administration is tak[ing] to improve cargo security," she closed, "and reducing the flow of drugs to the United States and how we can work together towards achieving this goal."

Someone else was keenly interested, too: Dr. Salomon Melgen, investor in a Dominican Republic port security company, ICSSI, which wants to X-ray cargo at the very ports Ros-Lehtinen was concerned about.

Ros-Lehtinen's letter came a month after Melgen contributed $5,000 to her campaign in a race where she faced token opposition (in 2011, he contributed $4,800). And, a few months before that, Ros-Lehtinen held a benefit for medical research in which Melgen cut another $15,000 check.

Melgen’s West Palm Beach offices were raided last week by federal agents in a Medicare-fraud investigation. FBI agents are also examining his ties with Sen. Bob Menendez, D-NJ.

Melgen has a reputation, among some political insiders, of being "transactional," meaning he gives donations but also expects to get something in return. Sources tell The Miami Herald the doctor has asked various members of Congress over the years for help with one of his lawsuits, his port deal, Medicare and a tax issue.

The top recipient of Melgen’s largesse, Menendez, has been most-vocal about the need to X-ray cargo at Dominican ports. He held a hearing on the matter that was trumpeted in February in VOXXI, the Hispanic-centric news website owned by Melgen.

Two Indonesian hostages rescued from Abu Sayyaf
[Reuters] Philippine troops rescued two Indonesian captives on Thursday after a gun battle that killed five of their Islamist militant captors in Mindanao. Five soldiers were also injured in the clash with about 20 members of the Abu Sayyaf on its stronghold of Jolo.

Brigadier-General Cirilito Sobejana said, "Minutes later, we intercepted a van which was carrying two Indonesian captives while pursuing the Abu Sayyaf after the encounter. They are now safe and undergoing tactical debriefing after medical checkup.”

Sobejana said the two Indonesian fishermen were seized aboard a Malaysian-registered boat in November last year in waters near Malaysia’s eastern state of Sabah. The army said the group is still holding about 18 captives on the islands of Jolo and Basilan, including a dozen foreigners from Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, the Netherlands and Vietnam.

Murad hints at ‘breakthrough’ as police bust militants’ network
[DAWN] Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has hinted at a breakthrough in the recent cases of coppers’s killing and an attempt on the life of leader of the opposition in the Sindh Assembly, claiming that law enforcement and intelligence agencies had achieved "major successes" after the series of raids and operations in the past two days.

In his brief interaction with the media at PAF Base Masroor after attending a Defence Day ceremony on Wednesday, Mr Shah did not elaborate the nature of the success. However,
nothing needs reforming like other people's bad habits...
sources said, some high-profile murderous Moslems had been placed in durance vile

in recent raids.

The chief minister did not reveal the number of arrests but said the killings were not the job of just one gang. "Different gangs are involved in these incidents," he said. "Some major arrests were made last night [Tuesday] and such gangs have been busted. This success would also help eliminate organised terrorism and crimes in the city. We have destroyed them to a considerable extent but still a lot of work has to be done."

Police maintain ambiguity about reported arrest of Ansarul Sharia head
Though the police neither confirmed nor denied the news reports on TV channels about the arrest of Ansarul Sharia Pakistain’s chief known as Dr Abdullah Hashmi in a raid on his house in Kaneez Fatima Housing Society, SSP Malir Rao Anwar, who has been actively involved in recent anti-militant operations, made a few claims lending strength to the reports of such a "success".

"We have broken their [ASP] network," SSP Anwar told Dawn. "We have seized several important objects, including gadgets, from the home of Abdul Karim Sarosh Siddiqi, a suspected criminal mastermind of the liquidation attempt on key man of the MQM, Khwaja Izharul Hasan. [The gadgets] could help the Sherlocks in solving the cases. With proactive policing and strong intelligence network, we have been coordinating with all law enforcement and intelligence agencies and also keeping an eye on Balochistan
...the Pak province bordering Kandahar and Uruzgun provinces in Afghanistan and Sistan Baluchistan in Iran. Its native Baloch propulation is being displaced by Pashtuns and Punjabis and they aren't happy about it...
According to SSP Anwar, not much was known about members of the ASP network previously but "important" progress has been made as police, the Rangers, intelligence agencies and CTD have been working in close coordination with each other.

Hunting the Nazi hunters
From TFA:
[TakiMag] Kirchner’s email reminds me of when a Mob enforcer would pay a “friendly visit” to a local business to intimidate it. “Nice publishing company you got here, Weber. It would be a shame if something was to, you know, ‘happen’ to it.”

Other organizations received similar emails from Kirchner, but for the sake of this piece, I want to focus on the IHR alone. The IHR has been around for talmost forty years. It’s an educational nonprofit publishing house. Do I agree with every book the IHR has published? Of course not. And so what? My own publisher, Feral House, puts out books in which authors express points of view that run contrary to my own. Good. I’m against censorship across the board, even when it comes to actual hate sites like the Daily Stormer. But anyone who actively tries to shut down a place where books are printed has no business identifying as a journalist.

Kirchner’s article (co-written with fellow “journalists” Julia Angwin, Jeff Larson, and Madeleine Varner) was posted on Aug. 19. On the 21st, TransFirst/TSYS, the IHR’s credit-card processing company, sent a letter to Weber informing him that the IHR was being dropped and its merchant account closed. The reason? “The review of your website revealed that your business is excluded per our credit policy, materials promoting hate, etc.”

For the record, several years ago it was TransFirst that actively sought the IHR’s business.

So just what is ProPublica? ProPublica is the malformed child of Herb and Marion Sandler, the infamous and corrupt left-wing billionaire Democrat donors. Even liberal press outlets admit that they were among the most prominent driving forces behind the Great Recession of the late 2000s (Time magazine included them on its list of the “25 People to Blame for the Financial Crisis”). The Sandlers started ProPublica with an initial welfare check of $10 million, and a promise of another $10 million annually. At the time, Slate.com speculated that ProPublica would likely serve as a mouthpiece for the Sandlers’ left-wing views.

The Sandlers are also the farbissiners who used their influence to force NBC to censor a sketch on Saturday Night Live, after they were described on the show as being “people who should be shot” (yes, the Sandlers are so vile that even the leftists at SNL hate them). Marion Sandler died in 2012, and Herbie continues to serve as ProPublica’s founding chairman.

See, they’re left-of-center, so they can get away with invoking “moral force.” If they were conservatives, they’d be attacked because, like, don’t try to force your morality on me, man!

And

Regarding what happened to the [Institute for Historical Review], what we have is a faux-journalism institute funded by left-wing billionaires deciding to engage in 21st-century book-burning by putting a publishing company out of business.

No word on who funds Pro Publica, though.

US warplanes takes out ISIS members running to stranded convoy
[NYPOST] US warplanes are picking off Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
snuffies who are drawn "like moths to the flame" of a stranded convoy evacuating hundreds of hard boyz from Syria to the Iraqi border, according to a report on Thursday.

"We were able to exploit it and take advantage," Army Col. Ryan S. Dillon, a coalition front man, said as buses and trucks full of Islamic State fighters and their families were halted in the Syrian desert, The Stars and Stripes reported.

"Like moths to the flame," Dillon described the more than 40 vehicles, including armored vehicles and a tank disguised as a truck, that came to aid the hapless convoy. "We were able to continue to just observe and pick them off one at a time."

As snuffies stray too far from the protection of the caravan, US warplanes are picking them off, Dillon said. adding that the strikes have also destroyed IS vehicles coming to the region from terrorist-held areas.

All together, he said about 85 snuffies have been killed since the fleet of vehicles was stopped about 10 days ago, saving coalition fighters from having to hunt them down.

More than 300 IS jihadists and an equal number of men and women set off about 10 days ago from the Leb-Syrian border after brokering a deal with Leb’s Hezbollah group for safe passage through the Syria-government held territory.

The convoy "has not ... and will not reach Iraq," Brett McGurk, special presidential envoy for the coalition, said Wednesday on Twitter.

More than 5,000 out-of-state voters may have tipped New Hampshire against Trump
[WASHINGTONTIMES] Over 6,000 individuals registered to vote in New Hampshire on Election Day Nov. 8 using out-of-state driver’s licenses ‐ and since then the vast majority have neither obtained an in-state license nor registered a motor vehicle.

Speaker of the New Hampshire House Shawn Jasper, a Republican, issued the findings on Thursday based on inquiries he made to the Department of State, which oversees elections, and the Department of Safety.

Since election days, Republicans have charged that a significant number of non-resident Democrats, principally from Massachusetts, flowed into New Hampshire to vote illegally, tilting close elections to their party. Mr. Jasper’s findings give credence, though not outright proof, to those allegations.

Europe
Paris ‘bomb factory’ suspects believed to have links to Syria
[NYPOST] French authorities investigating a suspected bomb factory near Gay Paree believe three suspects were preparing attacks and had made calls to Syria, a minister said Thursday.

Interior Minister Gerard Collomb said the suspects were possibly planning to attack a bank and had made phone calls to unidentified contacts in Syria.

"Those under investigation spoke of wanting to blow up a bank with the TATP but the way we see it is they have links with terrorism, and this is the channel of investigation," Collomb told public radio station La Belle Franceinfo.

TATP, a peroxide-based explosive employed by Islamic Lion of Islams, has been used in several attacks in Western Europe
...also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
in recent years, including Manchester in May, Brussels in 2016 and Gay Paree in 2015.

Two men were held Wednesday and the third man was detained Thursday, according to the Gay Paree prosecutor’s office, which provided no further information.

Meanwhile,
...back at the palazzo, Don Smilzo looked for an avenue of escape. The only window opened a hundred feet above the moat. The nearest of the hired assassins hold a bloody axe.
The window was looking better all the time....

two French officials said authorities have found more explosive components in a garage rented by one of the three suspects.

A police source confirmed the new discovery in Thiais, a suburban city close to the Villejuif apartment where TATP was found Wednesday thanks to a tip from a plumber.

The Gay Paree daily Le Gay Pareeien reported that the plumber was working on a stubborn leak, according to Agence La Belle France-Presse.

He was outside the building when he saw chemicals on a balcony of the apartment, and noticed a soldering iron and a hot plate through the window, the paper reported, quoting a source close to the investigation.

A counterterrorism probe was opened under potential charges of "criminal terrorist association" and production, possession and transportation of explosive substances "in relation with a terrorist action by an organized gang."

The arrests raised questions about whether the suspects might be linked to a jihadist cell in Spain that carried out two vehicular attacks in Barcelona and Cambrils last month, AFP reported.

"It is possible there were links, but honestly I don’t know," Collomb said.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Israel hits Syria site reportedly used for chemical weapons
[Hurriyet Daily News] The Syrian army said Israel targeted a military site in Hama province early on Sept. 7 which a war monitor said could be linked to chemical weapons production.

The Arclight airstrike killed two soldiers and caused damage near the town of Masyaf, an army statement said. It warned of the "dangerous repercussions of this aggressive action to the security and stability of the region."

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, which monitors the war, said the strike hit a Scientific Studies and Research Centre facility, an agency which the United States describes as Syria's chemical weapons manufacturer.

The strike took place the morning after U.N. Sherlocks said the Syrian government was responsible for a sarin poison gas attack in April.

Syria's government denies using chemical weapons and in 2013 it promised to surrender its chemical weapons programme, which it says it has done.

The Observatory said strikes also hit a military camp next to the centre that was used to store ground-to-ground rockets and where personnel of Iran and its ally, the Lebanese Hezbollah group, had been seen more than once.

An Israeli army spokeswoman declined to discuss reports of a strike in Syria. Israeli officials have in the past admitted that Israel has repeatedly struck weapons shipments believed to be bound for the Hezbollah, an ally of Syrian Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad

Terror Networks
EU warns of 'real risk' of new funds for terror attacks
[Hurriyet Daily News] There is a "real risk" of increased funding for attacks in Europe as the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) loses ground in Iraq and Syria, the European Union’s security chief warned on Sept. 7.

ISIL has lost an estimated 90 percent of its territory in Iraq. At one time, the group held around half of Syria but today controls just 15 percent, according to estimates.

"As we have success against Daesh on the ground in Iraq and Syria, they are moving funds out of Iraq and Syria," Julian King told the civil liberties committee in the European Parliament, using another name for ISIL.

“There is a real risk of a new influx of funding for terrorism. We need to be conscious of that and we need to work together to see what we can do about it," he added.

Last month, a U.N. report said that ISIL was continuing to send remittances abroad -- often small sums, making them difficult to detect -- as part of a bid to step up its international efforts "as demonstrated by the higher pace of attacks in Europe."

The report said funding sources were still based on oil profits and the imposition of taxes on local populations in the areas under its control.

However, it said the financial situation of the ISIL "core continues to deteriorate," mainly due to military pressure on the group.

The Grand Turk
Top court denies appeal of former HDP lawmakers
[Hurriyet Daily News] The Constitutional Court has denied the individual applications of two former Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) lawmakers appealing for the reversal of a parliamentary ruling that removed their status as MPs.

The general assembly of the Constitutional Court unanimously rejected the individual application of Faysal Sarıyıldız and Tuğba Hezer on Sept. 7.

“The court has ruled to deny the appeal to reverse the decision of Parliament’s General Assembly over removing the lawmaker status of HDP Şırnak deputy Faysal Sarıyıldız and HDP Van deputy Tuğba Hezer in accordance with Article 85 of the Constitution,” a written statement from the Constitutional Court read.

Parliament had voted for the dismissal of Sarıyıldız and Hezer on July 27 for failing to attend five sessions of parliamentary proceedings in October, November and December 2016.

Sarıyıldız and Hezer left Turkey in the wake of the parliamentary vote to remove their immunities in 2016 and have been abroad ever since.

The Turkish constitution rules that a deputy can be removed from their status after failing to attend parliamentary sessions without a valid reason or being absent for five sessions. In the event that their MP status has been removed over absence from parliament, the lawmaker can appeal to the Constitutional Court for the decision to be annulled on the grounds that it is contrary to the constitution, the law or the rules of procedure.

Rioting video sparks anti-Muslim rage in China
[DAWN] Chinese internet users bombarded government social media accounts on Wednesday with thousands of anti-Islamic messages in response to unverified videos showing rioting involving Moslems.

Online attacks on Chinese Moslem minorities have surged in recent years, with commenters directing angry screeds at both the Hui and the Uighur minority groups in the country’s north and far west.

The alleged row that triggered the latest flood of invective took place in the city of Tangshan in northern China’s Hebei province on Monday.

According to unconfirmed reports, a group of Hui protesters clashed with police who were carrying shields and wearing uniforms that suggested they were part of a SWAT team, according to online videos. In the clips filmed at night, the protesters appeared to punch their arms in the air, point their fingers and tell police to "kneel down".

It was unclear whether one of the protesters threw a rock at the police, as was alleged in a report by the state-run Global Times. The newspaper also quoted a Tangshan government employee as saying that "someone was beaten", without giving further details.

In response to the reports, Chinese internet users directed a flood of abuse at the official social media account of the city’s public security bureau, accusing them of putting the interests of Moslems over those of the majority Han ethnic group.

The commenters accused authorities of being overly lenient towards "violent" Moslem minorities and demanded swift punishment, in remarks that remained visible on Wednesday.

Pakistan has to react swiftly to changing regional situation: Khawaja Asif
[DAWN] Keeping in view the current situation in the world and the region, Pakistain will have to swiftly "change its direction", said Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif on Thursday after the conclusion of the Pak envoys' conference.

Envoys to some major countries and multilateral institutions participated in the three-day conference which deliberated on changes unfolding in the geopolitical environment.

"We are undergoing a seismic shift," Asif said during a presser, referring to the "altering" regional and international situation.

He added that the geopolitical changes taking place in the world were unprecedented. "Perhaps, such changes were not even witnessed after the Second World War. New allignments have been made, strategic policies are dictating nations' interests."

"We [Pakistain] have to review these situations pragmatically and take the right direction. We have to quickly adjust our direction," the foreign minister said.

The US policy on South Asia and Afghanistan was discussed during the final session of the envoys conference and Pakistain's ambassador to the United States, Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry, provided a briefing on the situation following US President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
's statements.

"After the briefing, we have come to understand the different dimensions of the problem."

The minister said that there is a 50 to 60-year-long history behind the Washington policy and the regional situation "which is gradually unfolding".

"In my personal view, [in the course of this history], we have only incurred losses and haven't gained much," he said.

"We don't have a lot of time ‐ the developing regional situations do not allow us to take our time," the minister reiterated, stressing on the urgency of the matter.

Asif said that in the coming days "there will be a policy shift in the country." The new policy will be formulated with the army and the country's institutions and will keep Pakistain's interests in view.

BCL factions clash in Satkhira, blame each other for desecrating idols
[Dhaka Tribune] At least eight people have been injured during a factional clash of Bangladesh Chhatra League

(BCL) activists in Satkhira. Both factions are blaming each other for the desecration of idols of the Hindu community in the area.

Police have incarcerated

two people in connection with the incident. The suspects ‐ Shahriar and Chanchal ‐ are cousins of local upazila parishad member Delowar Hossain.

The incident occurred at the Kachua village under Assasuni upazila in the early hours of Thursday.

Shankar Ghosh, a resident of the village, told the Dhaka Tribune that the local BCL unit President Ujjal Ghosh and his supporters had an ongoing dispute with Delowar, a member of the Satkhira upazila parishad, and his nephews Shubho and Shaon, over the formation of a BCL ward committee.

Delowar, accompanied by his supporters, reportedly attacked Ujjal at his residence on Wednesday night, leaving at least 10 people injured.

During the attack, the culprits allegedly desecrated the idols of Vishnu, Durga and Kartikeya at the Kachua Sarbojanin Durga Temple.

Local UP member Angur Hossain told the Dhaka Tribune: "I visited the scene of the incident on Thursday morning and found that some idols had been desecrated. Several people were also injured. The incident might have been caused by internal disputes."

Another eyewitness, Sohrab Hossain, said: "I saw Delowar Hossain’s nephews Shubho and his brother Shaon attacking Ujjal Ghosh and his supporters on Wednesday night. The locals broke up the fight."

"Later that night, Ujjal Ghosh and his supporters attacked Shuvo and Shaon. I do not know who is responsible for desecrating the idols," he added.

When approached for comment, Delwar said: "I was getting a haircut at the Gunakarkati Market on Wednesday. My nephews came to take me home. A number of youths hurled abuses at me as I was passing through the Kachua Ghosh neighbourhood. My nephews protested their insults and an altercation turned into a scuffle."

"The rumours about idols being desecrated are not true. The scuffle occurred on the road and not in anyone’s home. They are framing me," he said.

Officer-in-Charge of Satkhira Assasuni cop shoppe Shahidul Islam confirmed that three idols have been desecrated and an investigation has been launched over the incident.

Nine Khulna cops among 13 sued for gouging man’s eyes out
[Dhaka Tribune] Eleven cops and Ansar members, including the officer-in-charge (OC) of Khulna’s Khalishpur cop shoppe, have been sued on the charge of damaging both eyes of a man while torturing him in their custody.

Renu Begum, the wife of the victim, Shahjalal, filed the complaint with the court of the chief metropolitan magistrate (CMM) on Thursday, accusing nine police personnel, two Ansar members and two residents of Khulna city, and naming 10 witnesses to the incident.

The accused are OC Nasim Khan, Sub-Inspector (SI) Russel, SI Tapash Ray, SI Morselim Mollah, SI Mizan, SI Mamun, SI Noor Islam, SI Syed Saheb Ali, Ansar Sepoy Afsar Ali, Ansar Lance Naik Rezaul, Suma Akhter, a resident of Old Jessore Road, and Russel, a resident of Shiromoni Badamtala area.

Taking cognisance of the complaint, CMM Amali Adalat Judge Shahidul Islam recorded the plaintiff’s statement and fixed September 17 for giving the order regarding the investigation and the trial process.

Earlier on July 18, Shahjalal was shown placed in durance vile
Yez got nuttin' on me, coppers! Nuttin'!
in a case filed by Suma Akhter over the attempted pilfering of her vanity bag near Khalishpur’s Golakhali rail line the same day.

The man was allegedly caught by some bystanders while snatching the bag. He reportedly underwent a mob beating there before being handed over to police.

Shahjalal is now undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital. The doctors have performed two surgeries on him to enucleate his eyes.

Police have claimed that those involved in the beating are responsible for damaging his eyes.

However,
Switzerland makes more than cheese...
the man alleges he was tortured by the coppers inside and outside of the cop shoppe on the night of his arrest after he refused to pay them a bribe.

According to the First Information Report (FIR) of the case filed by Suma, the alleged theft occurred around 11:30pm.

However,
Switzerland makes more than cheese...
some witnesses, as well as family members of the arrested, claimed that the incident took place a couple of hours earlier.

A departmental probe body was formed to investigate the matter on July 27.

UD case lodged over seven Mirpur militant skulls
[Dhaka Tribune] An unnatural death case was lodged on Wednesday night over the seven people who reportedly detonated themselves during a Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) operation at a militant hideout on Mirpur’s Mazar Road.

RAB Deputy Assistant Director Nayeb Subedar Harun ur-Rashid filed the case with Darus Salam police station, confirmed the station’s Sub-Inspector (SI) Mohesh.

The elite law enforcement agency recovered seven skulls from the site, belonging to two children, two women and three men.

After an autopsy, Dhaka Medical College Hospital Forensic Department Head Dr Sohel Mahmud confirmed to the Dhaka Tribune that his team found splinters, wires, and parts of torch-lights in the bodies, confirming the RAB theory that the blasts were caused by suicide bombs.

“We have also collected DNA from the skulls,” the physician said.

At least five bombs exploded around 9:50pm, over two hours after a RAB unit claimed that a top militant, Abdullah, and his two associates agreed to surrender to the lawmen.

The men were holed up in a fourth-floor apartment in the six-storey Komol Prova building on Mazar road.

RAB officials said the bodies were believed to have been incinerated and disintegrated in the series of blasts that could be seen from far off as huge fires.

RAB cordoned off the house following information about the suspect from two alleged members of a new faction of Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh.

The two alleged members were detained from a house at Elenga in Kalihati upazila of Tangail late Monday night.

ZMan: Lessons From The Bear
For the last few years, the American ruling class has been obsessed with Russia. The Bear Scare in DC over Trump’s alleged ties to Putin is just one ridiculous element to the obsession. At some level, even the dullards in the media know it is nonsense, but the Cloud People are convinced that the public shares their hatred of the Russians. China and Israel are much more involved in our elections, but they are not suitable bogeymen, in the minds of our betters. To them, the Russians are the scariest of scary monsters.

The Russia-Trump story is just a sideshow, of course. The neocon insistence that we start World War 3 over Ukraine is much more representative of the ruling elite’s hatred for the Russians. Steve Sailer has done yeoman’s work documenting the neocon warmonger’s efforts to stoke the fires of Russophobia. It’s not just the neocons. The Left has gone down a similar path, accusing Putin of being the new Hitler and claiming he has plans to invade Europe. The public face of the ruling elite is sure that Putin is very bad.

Of course, this enmity toward Putin has had the strange effect of endearing him to many nationalists in America, especially the younger ones. Their minds are not tainted by memories of the Cold War and the Soviet Union. Putin just looks like a strong leader, who embodies many of the qualities the alt-right types admire. Then you have old paleocons like Pat Buchanan defending Putin, mostly because of old scars from warring with the neocons in the olden thymes. This just encourages the neocons to hate Putin even more.

The missing men from the Mirpur militant den
[Dhaka Tribune] A 22-year-old man working at the hard boy den in Mirpur has been missing since Sunday.

The family of Kamal, who worked at Abdullah’s home in Mirpur, told the media about him being missing after the raid ended.

Kamal’s father Abdul Malek said: "I have had no contact with my son since the second day of Eid. He was working at Abdullah’s residence for the last six months. He helped Abdullah to look after his pigeons."

"My son is not a hard boy. He prayed but was not a fanatic. Abdullah is responsible for my son’s death," he also said.

Kamal’s parents believe their son was killed in the kabooms at Abdullah’s house.

Kamal is the second among five children. He came to Dhaka from Bhola to work for Abdullah at Tk6,000 per month. He previously worked at a tea stall in his village. During Ramadan and Eid-ul-Fitr, Kamal visited his family. But he failed to visit the village during Eid-ul-Azha.

Sirajul Islam, the night guard of the alley where Komol Prova, the hard boy den is located, was also reported missing.

His wife Nazma Begum told the Dhaka Tribune on Wednesday that Sirajul did not come home on Tuesday morning and was unreachable over the phone.

When the Dhaka Tribune reached out to the Rapid Action Battalion, Sirajul’s whereabouts were confirmed.

Commander Mufti Mahmud Khan, director of the Media and Legal wing, said: "We have nabbed
Maw! They're comin' to get me, Maw!
the owner of the house and the night guard on suspicions of collaborating with the hard boys.

Regarding Kamal’s absence, Commander Mufti told the Dhaka Tribune: "We found two bodies of Abdullah’s associates from the flat. But we are not sure whether Kamal is among them. The bodies have been sent for DNA testing."

Wasserman Schultz Aide Who Fled US Strikes A Deal To Return, Facing Charges
[DAILYCALLER] A former staffer for Florida Democratic Rep. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz
...Congresswoman from Florida, the abrasive chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee. She has been a politician since 1992, and prior to that was in training as a political science major. Her primary accomplishment seems to be that she's Jewish...
who fled to Pakistain while under criminal investigation has struck a deal with federal officials to return to the U.S. to appear at an arraignment.

Two former Democratic staffers, Imran Awan and his wife Hina Alvi, both face charges of conspiracy and bank fraud. Alvi who has a warrant for her arrest, struck a deal with prosecutors that would allow her to return to the U.S. for a mandatory court date in October, according to new court documents.

"Because the Court has already scheduled defendant Awan’s continued status hearing for October 6, 2017, at 9:15 am, the government respectfully requests that the Court also summon defendant Alvi to appear for her arraignment on that date and time, or at the earliest available date for the Court thereafter," the document reads.

Awan after he wired nearly $300,000 to Pakistain and misrepresented the purpose. He had previously wired money to the country and was frantically liquidating multiple real estate properties on the day he was arrested, The Daily Caller News Foundation Investigative Group discovered in July.

Alvi moved to Pakistain after learning the family was the subject of a criminal investigation into their work as IT administrators for House Democrats. On the day of Imran’s arrest, the couple accepted a buyer for one house owned by Hina with an asking price of $618,000 (Hawkshead Dr.) and listed another property for sale at $200,000 (Pembrook Village), according to real estate records.

Franken charges Trump judicial nominee with hate group ties
[WASHINGTONTIMES] A Democratic senator tried to tie one of President Trump’s judicial nominees to a “hate group” Wednesday, saying the woman’s decision to speak at an event sponsored by Alliance Defending Freedom, a religious liberty law firm, makes her unfit to sit on a federal appeals court.

Sen. Al Franken lobbed the charge at a hearing for Amy Coney Barrett, Mr. Trump’s pick to fill a seat on the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.

Meanwhile, Mr. Trump’s nominee to the 6th Circuit, Michigan Supreme CourtJustice Joan Larsen, faced questions over a conservative advocacy group Judicial Crisis Network, which ran ads to pressure her home state senators — both Democrats — to back her confirmation.

Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse, Rhode Island Democrat, said he worried about who was contributing to fund the ads.

“I look out at a very significant machinery of influence that is designed — that has at its purpose — to bring the will of ideological and commercial interest into our courts,” he said.

Mosul U hold book fair
Sure as hell the Moslems will find a way to f*ck that up
Mosul (IraqiNews.com) A group of youths are bringing life back to Mosul University’s central library with a book fair, making up for a serious destruction under Islamic State rule.

Once a home to nearly one million books, the three-storey building’s interior had been reduced to ashes by the time Iraqi forces recaptured the campus in mid October. Islamic State militants had burned all the contents bar nearly 30 books, according to Alghad Press.

At the gate of the wrecked facility, young volunteers erected stands for 14.000 books late Wednesday. The books were collected from donors over 40 days, according to the website.

“Mosul Reads”, read the slogan of the event which organizers said seeks to assert on the city’s identity as “a place of culture rather than violence,” the Alghad Press reports.

Saleh Elias, the event’s top organizer, told the website that the books were of diverse political, historical and literary genres. “A part of the books were kept inside the university’s library, while the remaining ones were given out to the visitors”, said Elias.

“Our mission is to spread peace and culture, and to reverse the image of Islamic State-held Mosul, one of violence and destruction,” he added.

“Tens of youths rolled up their sleeves to collect the books and organize the festival,” said Sattar Mohsen, director at Dar Stoor, a prominent Baghdad-based bookstore and publishing house. “The festival was a message to everybody, saying that Mosul is an immortal city that can rebuild its history,” said Mohsen.

“Everyday, Mosul amazes us with the way it comes back to life quickly. If efforts are escalated further, eastern Mosul could turn into a portray unseen in 14 years,” said Udai Ameed, one of the festival’s visitors.

“Everyday I came here, I used to weep for what had happened,” said Yomna Ebeid, a student who had partaken in volunteer efforts to clean the library after its retrieval. “Now, everything is changed, and I am confident it can return better than ever”.

The event also included shows by famous Mosul musical bands as well as handcrafts and plastic arts sections.

Former Turkish minister indicted in US for violating embargo on Iran
[Hurriyet Daily News] U.S. prosecutors have charged a former Turkish economy minister and a former general manager of a state bank with conspiring to evade U.S. sanctions against Iran, with a Turkish minister defending his predecessor.

The charges targeted former economy minister Zafer Çağlayan, former Halkbank general manager Süleyman Aslan and two others, according to the filing, dated on Sept. 6, from the U.S. attorney’s office in the Southern District of New York.

The U.S. indictment broadens a case targeting Turkish-Iranian businessman Reza Zarrab, who is still in prison in the U.S.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has said he believed U.S. authorities had “ulterior motives” in prosecuting Zarrab.

Çağlayan, Aslan and the other two individuals are charged with “conspiring to use the U.S. financial system to conduct hundreds of millions of dollars’ worth of transactions on behalf of the Government of Iran and other Iranian entities, which were barred by United States sanctions.”

Mahmoud Warfali linked to new murders: report
[Libya Herald] There are unconfirmed reports of five recent summary executions in Ajdabiya in which the Saiqa Special Forces
...Libya's elite army unit, insofar as they have one, formed from a mixture of paratroopers and commandos. The group emerged from a militia with the same name in 2010. It now numbers a few thousand and reports to the Ministry of Defence. It deployed in Benghazi in an attempt to control the carnage. As a result, it has been attacked and several of its officers murdered. The force is popular in Benghazi for its stance against Ansar al-Sharia group...
major Mahmoud Warfali was involved. Warfali is supposed to be in LNA custody.

The LNA officer, for whom the International Criminal Court (ICC) has issued an arrest warrant , is accused of war crimes on the basis of videos showing the cold-blooded murder of 33 bound prisoners, in which the killer resembled Warfali.

After the ICC announced on 17 August that it wanted Warfali handed over for trial in the Hague, the Libyan National Army (LNA) said that on the orders of armed forces commander-in-chief Khalifa Hafter, he had been jugged
Don't shoot, coppers! I'm comin' out!
on 2 August. The LNA also said that it was carrying out its own investigation into the summary executions. Last month an LNA source denied a rumour that Warfali had been released.

The Ajdabiya allegations include a sighting of Warfali in the town last night where he was said to be on a visit to LNA units in the Oil Crescent.

Southern border reported blockaded as Qatrun leader confirms ‘big’ drop in migrants coming from Niger
[Libya Herald] Reports that the border with Niger and Chad has been closed today by an independent force from Qatrun have been partially confirmed by a usually reliable Tebu source.

According to Fezzan Libya Org, the force consisting of army regulars, volunteers and revolutionaries from Qatrun, some 240 kilometres south of Sebha, closed the entire southern border. Confirming the closure, the Tebu source, however, says that the force is led by Barka Shedemi, who is normally based in northern Niger. The source said that Shedemi announced today that he was now blockading the border to end people-smuggling from Niger into Libya.

He is said to control some 700 kilometres of the border having free range on both sides, in southern Libya and in Niger as well as Chad.

A veteran Tebu militia leader, he is reported to have some 200 vehicles at his disposal. In the past, he was based in southern Libya and is said to have a longstanding hatred of the Qaddadfa tribe, having been captured in the 1980s in festivities with them and had his hand and leg cut off by the Qadaffy regime after being accused of being a brigand.

There is no further confirmation of the closure so far.

The Tebu source claimed that Shedemi was hoping to be paid by the Europeans for his actions.

A major Tebu leader in Qatrun, Sheikh Omar Sandou, meanwhile today told the Libya Herald that there has been a major drop in recent weeks in migrants colonists passing through the desert town from the Nigerien border heading north to Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
. Although he did not have figures, he said that the decrease was "big".

Most migrants colonists, he added, stayed in the town for no more than a couple of weeks to earn enough money to carry on with the journey north. No migrants colonists, he added, came via Chad.

Taliban suicide attack in Afghanistan over leaflet ‘insult’
[DAWN] A jacket wallah riding a cycle of violence went kaboom! outside an American base in Afghanistan on Wednesday, Afghan officials said, in an attack the Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
claimed was Dire Revenge for a US leaflet deemed highly offensive to Moslems.

US and Afghan authorities confirmed several people were maimed in the late afternoon attack at Bagram Airfield, America’s largest base in the country. The Taliban grabbed credit and said it was in retaliation for "their insult to the Islamic creed".

NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A single organization with differing goals, equipment, language, doctrine, and structure....
’s Resolute Support mission said in a statement that "an kaboom" had occurred "outside an entry control point" to Bagram that had caused a "small number of casualties". Taliban front man Zabihullah Mujahid claimed the attacker had killed and maimed "over 20 soldiers".

NATO forces frequently drop leaflets over large swathes of Afghanistan in an effort to persuade locals against supporting krazed killers.

Major General James Linder, who heads the US and NATO special operations forces in Afghanistan, issued a statement apologising for the leaflet design which he said was an "error".

Baghdad Bomb and Bullet Bulletin

2 wounded in bombing attack near Diyala Bridge

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Two people were wounded on Thursday when a bomb blast rocked an area southeast of Baghdad, a police source was quoted saying.

The source told Alsumaria News that an explosive device placed next to commercial shops in Diyala Bridge region went off, wounding two persons.

A security force cordoned the area off, while ambulances carried the casualties to hospital, the source said.

Violence and armed conflicts left 297 Iraqis dead and wounded during the month of ِAugust, according to a monthly count by the United Nations Assistance Mission in Iraq which excludes security members deaths. Baghdad was the most affected province with 45 deaths and 135 injuries.

The Iraqi capital has seen almost daily bombings and armed attacks against security members, paramilitary groups and civilians since the Iraqi government launched a wide-scale campaign to retake Islamic State-occupied areas in 2016. While most of of the explosions and attacks went without a claim of responsibility, Islamic State has claimed several incidents.

Some security observers believe that even after IS’s main havens across Iraqi provinces are conquered, the group may still constitute a security threat through sleeper cells and lone wolf attacks.

The Beatings Will Continue: Iraqi Edition

Several kidnapped by ISIS in Anbar

Anbar (IraqiNews.com) Islamic State have arrested tens of civilians in western Anbar and took them to unknown destination, Alghad Press reported on Thursday.

The militant group arrested more than fifty youths in Qaim town, western Anbar, and took them to unknown place.

On Wednesday, fighter jets bombarded an IS store leaving it completely destroyed with ten members killed. Coalition jets pounded, earlier this week, house of IS leader Hilal Ismail al-Salmani in the town of al-Qaim, killing him and seven of his companions in Qaim.

Last week, the Defense Ministry’s War Media Cell said the air force bombarded six IS locations in Qaim, killing 94 members, including a senior security commander and a close aide to the group’s supreme leader abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

Anbar’s western towns of Anah, Qaim and Rawa are still held by the extremist group since 2014, when it occupied one third of Iraq to proclaim a self-styled Islamic Caliphate. Iraqi troops were able to return life back to normal in the biggest cities of Anbar including Fallujah, Ramadi and others after recapturing them.

Fighter jets from the Iraqi army and the international coalition regularly pound IS locations in the province.

Late July, Iraqi army jets reportedly dropped millions of leaflets on western Anbar telling locals that liberation offensives for the province were nearing.

ISIS executes 12 in Kirkuk

Islamic State militants have executed 12 civilians at their Kirkuk stronghold, a local source was quoted saying on Thursday as the province awaits imminent military operations against the extremist group.

The source told Alsumaria News that the group executed 12 residents of Hawija, the group’s stronghold in the southwest of the province. The execution was carried out at al-Bakkara military base.

The source did not mention an exact reason for the execution, nor the method by which it was implemented, but said the militants had embarked on a series of mass executions of their prisoners.

IS militants have regularly executed civilians for various reasons including escaping the group’s strongholds across the country, contacting security authorities and violating the group’s extreme religious rules.

A week ago, the Iraqi Joint Operations Command said operations would launch sooner to recapture Hawija. The announcement came shortly after the JOC said it totally took over Tal Afar, the Islamic State’s last stronghold in Nineveh province. Earlier in July, Iraqi troops, backed by a United States-led coalition, recaptured Mosul, Islamic State’s former capital.

The United Nations predicts 85.000 civilians to flee Hawija as anticipated military operations launch to liberate the province from IS.

ISIS Big Burqa, family die in airstrike in Hawija

Hawija (IraqiNews.com) Islamic State female leader was killed along with her husband and two of her sons were killed as airstrike targeted the group’s camp in southwest of Kirkuk, a local source said on Thursday.

Speaking to AlSumaria News on Thursday, the source said, “IS female leader in charge of the women’s brigade in Hawija, Kirkuk, known as princess of IS women, was killed along her husband and two sons in airstrike that targeted the group’s camp in the northern side of Hawija.”

“Airstrikes have been on the rise in Hawija over the past few days, targeting IS rest houses and camps and leaving casualties,” the source, who preferred anonymity, added.

Hawija and other neighboring regions, west of Kirkuk, have been held by IS since mid-2014, when the group emerged to proclaim an Islamic “caliphate” in Iraq and Syria. The group executed dozens of civilians and security members there, forcing thousands to flee homes.

Earlier this week, further reinforcements from the Federal Police were sent from Baghdad to the town, as the military command declared last week, the end of operations in Tal Afar, the militants’ last haven west of Nineveh, and the approach of the launch of offensives for Hawija.

FBI chief sees no evidence of White House interference in Russia probe
FBI Director Christopher Wray said on Thursday he has "not detected any whiff of interference" by the White House into the ongoing investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election.

Speaking publicly for the first time since being confirmed as head of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Wray also expressed confidence in Robert Mueller, the special counsel investigating whether President Donald Trump’s campaign colluded with Russia during the election.

"I can say very confidently that I have not detected any whiff of interference with that investigation," Wray said during a panel discussion at the Intelligence and National Security Summit in Washington.

Wray was installed as FBI director after his predecessor, James Comey, was fired by Trump in May. In an interview with NBC after Comey’s removal, Trump admitted he was thinking about "this Russia thing" when he decided to fire the then-FBI chief.

Comey later told Congress he believed Trump had tried to get him to drop an FBI probe into former national security adviser, Michael Flynn, as part of the broader Russia investigation - testimony that has raised questions about whether Trump was potentially trying to obstruct justice.

The White House has repeatedly denied the Trump campaign colluded with Russia in the election.

Imran Awan Used Influence to Cover Up Fraud In Pakistan In 2009. New Smoking Gun
(dawn.com) A US national of Pakistan origin, who is serving in the White House in Washington DC, has been able to get Rs55 million fraud cases against his father put on back burner allegedly by exerting pressure on the local police through the ministry as well as the department concerned.

The police are rather harassing the complainants and implicating them in what they claim "frivolous" cases. The efficiencies of the police in complying with the desires of the US national are also noteworthy.

About a dozen farmers of Chak 7-JB, Panjor, including five siblings ‐ all aged between 57 and 70 ‐ have given up hope of justice after they sold their agricultural lands to Ashraf Awan of Bole De Jhugi, who is father of White House employee Shahid Imran, against Rs55 million sale consideration but the money he owed against the purchases never realised and all the seven cheques drawn on Allied Bank's Sargodha Road branch dishonoured.

The police have registered a dacoity case against all the complainants and some others allegedly after succumbing to US national's pressure.

Mohammad Abid, a victim of Awan's alleged high-profile swindling, said that Awan's son had easy access to the corridors of power and that's why he was able to pressurise the police to dance to his tunes.

#4  A laptop that Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz has frantically fought to keep prosecutors from examining may have been planted for police to find by her since-indicted staffer, Imran Awan, along with a letter to the U.S. Attorney.
U.S. Capitol Police found the laptop after midnight April 6, 2017, in a tiny room that formerly served as a phone booth in the Rayburn House Office Building, according to a Capitol Police report reviewed by The Daily Caller News Foundation’s Investigative Group. Alongside the laptop were a Pakistani ID card, copies of Awan’s driver’s license and congressional ID badge, and letters to the U.S. attorney. Police also found notes in a composition notebook marked “attorney-client privilege.”
That she did. Earlier this year, Capitol Police reportedly found the laptop (and note) in a small room in the Rayburn House Office Building, Wasserman Schultz had the following exchange with the Capitol Police Chief, who was warned of “consequences” for his investigation and continued confiscation of evidence:

Excerpt: "David Damron, a spokesman for the Florida lawmaker, declined to tell The Daily Caller News Foundation why Wasserman Schultz would still be so adamant the allegations against Imran were made up even after Imran apparently took her laptop late at night and left it where it would be found, alongside other seemingly carefully curated evidence.

Damron would not clarify why she said the laptop was hers and she had lost it, then that it was Imran’s and she had never even seen it, and finally, the revelation that it had the username RepDWS, rather than Imran’s username."

German citizen detained in Turkey released, banned from travel
[Hurriyet Daily News] A Ottoman Turkish court has ordered a German citizen who was detained in the southern province of Antalya last week to be released but banned from travel, Dogan News Agency reported on Sept. 7.

The released person and their German spouse were detained while on holiday in Antalya. The spouse had already been freed after questioning.

They had both been held as part of investigations into the Gulen network, widely believed to have criminal masterminded last year’s failed coup attempt, and the Syrian Kurdish YPG.

Their release means 10 German citizens remain in Ottoman Turkish detention on political charges.

1) Widely believed... by whom? There's not a single person reading this blog that's buying that line of shit.

2) He's banned from travel - you mean Turkey banned a German citizen from vacationing in other countries, or (more likely) he can't go back to wonderful Turkey next year for his 'vacation'? If it's the latter, I doubt you'd have to issue a court order to prevent him from coming back.

Prince Idris Al-Senussi calls for restoration of 1951 constitution
[Libya Herald] Prince Idris Abdullah Abed Senussi has called for the restoration of the 1951 constitution as a way of getting Libya out of its present crisis.

The Libyan people were suffering as never before a result of the continuing anarchy, he told a presser in Tunis today. They had a right to prosperity and stability. This, though, could not happen without a working political system, he stated. For that, there had to be a constitution. The 1951 constitution was the answer. It the foundation of the Libya state, he insisted. It had constructed Libya as a legal entity. It existed, and should be reintroduced. It would enable Libya to move forwards, he said.

All other efforts to resolve the crisis had failed, he stated, adding that efforts to devise another constitution were not working either.

The 1951 constitution would give back to Libya’s three historic provinces ‐ Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
tania, Cyrenaica and Fezzan ‐ control over their own affairs. That was right, he said, but adding that at some future point further provinces could be created by dividing existing ones. But that was for the future to decide, he said.

With the 1951 constitution making Libya a monarchy, he was asked by the Libya Herald if that was what he wanted and if he were proposing himself as king. He rejected this, saying that this was not the time to decide whether Libya should be a monarchy or a republic. That was an issue for Libyans to choose in the future.

He said, however, that he was willing to act as temporary head of state. He added, however, that if he were head of state he would not enter into political life and that being head of state would not include being head of government. That, he said, had to be a separate position.

Asked whether fresh elections would resolve the Libyan crisis, he said that there was no chance of them taking place for the moment. The security situation would not permit it.

There had to be a transitional period, he said.

"The way of getting out of the crisis that I propose involves a period of transition led by a personality around whom there is consensus, and who has had no role or taken part in the current political stalemate."

Hafter not joining other Libyan players at Saturday’s AU Libya meet
[Libya Herald] Khalifa Hafter’s reported refusal to go to Saturday’s meeting of other Libyan politicians in Brazzaville will have frustrated Congo-Brazzaville President Denis Sassou Nguesso who heads the African Union
...a union consisting of 53 African states, most run by dictators of one flavor or another. The only all-African state not in the AU is Morocco. Established in 2002, the AU is the successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), which was even less successful...
’s (AU) Libya committee.

Since the committee’s four-day mission to Libya in June, Nguesso has been trying to organise a meeting of all Libya’s leading players. This will be the third AU mini summit on Libya and reflects growing alarm in the Union at Libya’s enduring crisis.

Today, a Hafter aide is reported to have said that House of Representatives (HoR) president Ageela Saleh will be representing the interests of the east of the country. Saleh has actually already arrived in Brazzaville and may be hoping for advance consultations with Nguesso and the other AU committee members from Æthiopia, Mauritania, Niger and South Africa. It is expected that the meeting will also be attended by Algeria, Chad, Egypt, Sudan and Tunisia.

Presidency Council (PC) chief Faiez Serraj has said that he will be attending as, it is understood, will State Council head Abdulrahman Sewehli.

Hafter’s absence will be seen at odds with the spirit of the deal he struck last month with Serraj in Gay Paree at the encounter brokered by French president Macron. That seemed to break new ground in that both men agreed on a ceasefire, early elections and the pivotal position of the Libyan Political Agreement (LPA.

But more than a month on, with no obvious fresh political movement, three days ago Macron sent his foreign minister Jean-Yves Le Drian to press Serraj and Hafter for progress.

‘Malala hate’ is still real in Pakistan
[DAWN] Two weeks ago, Ms Yousafzai announced that she had been accepted to study at Oxford University‐her tweet was politely couched in praise for her fellow winning candidates.

"So excited to go to Oxford!! Well done to all A-level students - the hardest year. Best wishes for life ahead!" Malala posted on her Twitter account on Aug 17.

The British press loved the story, but there were few mentions in Pakistain’s media. Reaction from Paks on social media ranged from sincere and congratulatory to snide and envious.

"Well done, Malala," one man posted on Facebook, praising her humanitarian efforts and success abroad but noting wistfully that many Paks were unable to get ahead except by bribery.

"Time to shoot myself in the head for my next degree," sneered another person on Twitter, using an expletive to suggest she had done little to deserve it. While some called her a hypocrite and fake, others called her father‐ a principal by profession‐ an agent for Israel and the Central Intelligence Agency.

On Tuesday, police officials in Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
reported that they killed several suspected Taliban
...Arabic for students...
and ISIS Lions of Islam in a raid and shootout, including one who they said was involved in the attack on Ms Yousafzai.

The news made headlines but drew little public interest. News reports seemed sceptical of the police claims. They included scant detail of the long-ago incident and no photos of Ms Yousafzai. The coverage had a perfunctory, "old news" tone.

In a way, it is understandable that this young woman ‐ who appears to have remained a gracious and modest individual despite her global celebrity ‐ has nevertheless become a permanent lightning rod for the muddled grievances, conspiracy theories and thwarted ambitions of a struggling society. A society where many people look to "foreign hands" to blame for their problems and may resent the limelight that comes to some, but only a few, of those who have suffered.

By some estimates, more than 30,000 Paks have been killed in a decade of terrorism and conflict. Ms Yousafzai survived and then went on to become a best-selling author, a winner of numerous international prizes and a United Nations
...the Oyster Bay money pit...
Messenger of Peace.

Now she is going to Oxford to study philosophy and politics.

Prosecutor seeks 37 years in jail for Russians over involvement in Chechen militant’s murder
[Hurriyet Daily News] An Istanbul prosecutor has demanded a total of 37 years in jail for three Russians over their suspected involvement in the liquidation of a Chechen krazed killer in 2015 and spying activities, daily Haberturk reported on Sept. 7.

The indictment was reported to have prepared in February 2017 but its details have only recently come to light.

In November 2015, a Chechen commander named Abdulvahid Edelgiriev was killed in Istanbul’s Basaksehir district in an attack. According to the case indictment reportedly seen by the daily, Edelgireyev was approached by a white car, and was then shot and stabbed by assassins in the car.

Police investigations reportedly found that the car was rented out 20 days before the liquidation by Russian citizens Andrei Sholkhov, Dimitri Bodrov and Vladimir Voronon.

Five months later, in April 2016, National Intelligence Organization (MIT) teams and the Istanbul police conducted a secret operation to detain two Russian nationals, indicated to be spies, the 52-year-old Iurii Anisimov and 55-year-old Aleksandr Smirnov, according to the indictment.

These two names, along with Aleksandr Nasyrov, another Russian national who is currently on the run, are alleged in the indictment to have conducted exploration and logistical works prior to the liquidation, which was carried out by other individuals.

In the operation, Ottoman Turkish police reportedly seized fabricated Interpol identities, photographs belonging to Russian state officials, and five cell phones belonging to the "spies."

Regarding the two locked away
You have the right to remain silent...
Russian nationals, Anisimov and Smirnov, and Nasyrov, an Istanbul prosecutor prepared an indictment in February 2017. The prosecutor demanded 37 years in jail for the suspects on charges of "attempting to acquire the state’s secret information for political and military spying purposes," "assisting a planned voluntary manslaughter," and "forging official documents."

The indictment alleges that after the two arrested suspects, as well as the runaway Nasyrov, acquired information regarding the whereabouts of the Chechen krazed killer Edelgiriev, three Russian hitmen arrived in The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
in October to commit the murder.

Deobandi holy man, known as Mullah Diesel during the war against the Soviets, his sympathies for the Taliban have never been tempered by honesty ...

...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
on Afghanistan seriously and review its foreign policy accordingly.

He told news hounds at the residence of federal minister Akram Khan Durrani here that President Trump’s new Afghan policy was an eye-opener for Pakistain and therefore, the government should frame its foreign policy in light of it.

"Trump’s statement is an open threat for Pakistain. The government should re-examine its foreign policy," he said, adding that Americans didn’t intend to leave Afghanistan.

Mr Fazl said the new US policy on Afghanistan clearly showed that instead of ending it, Washington had planned to continue war in Afghanistan for an indefinite period.

He said Islamabad should not rely economically on Washington and instead look for new economic partners.

"We should strengthen our economic ties with China," he said.

The JUI-F chief said Pakistain had long been in trouble due to the ill-conceived policy of former military ruler Pervez Perv Musharraf
... former dictator of Pakistain, who was less dictatorial and corrupt than any Pak civilian government to date ...
, especially in the wake of his decision to join the alliance against the so-called war on terrorism.

"Unfortunately, the successive government continued with Musharraf’s policies. Pakistain has been trapped in this war although it is neither a terrorist country nor does it support terrorism," he said.

Mr Fazl expressed concern
...meaning the brow was mildly wrinkled, the eyebrows drawn slightly together, and a thoughtful expression assumed, not that anything was actually done or indeed that any thought was actually expended...

Salahuddin (IraqiNews.com) A senior Islamic State leader was killed, along with his companions, in airstrikes, north of Salahuddin, a security source said.

“Iraqi warplanes waged airstrikes against IS havens in several villages in the western coast of Shirqat town,” the source told Baghdad Today on Thursday.

“The raids destroyed five headquarters and a booby-trapped vehicle as well as killing IS leader, Ali Faraj al-Mardoud, along with 12 of his companions,” the source added.

Earlier this month, news reports indicated unprecedented displacement by IS families from Shirqat toward unknown destinations as liberation offensive nears.

The Iraqi army said in September its forces recaptured the western coast of Shirqat, located south of Mosul, on the west bank of the Tigris river, after being surrounded for months by Iraqi troops and the pro-government Shi’ite militias. The eastern coast of Shirqat, is still under the IS control.

Pivotal regions that link between each of Diyala, Salahuddin and Kirkuk, are still held by the militants which poses threats to the liberated regions. Iraqi troops are urged to prevent the militants infiltration between Salahuddin and Kirkuk provinces, especially the regions stretching along Hamreen mountains and Al-Azeem town.

The government is expected to launch military offensives at the few remaining IS havens, including in Salahuddin.

“Security troops are following another attack. No casualties among civilians or security personnel resulted,” he added.

Earlier on Thursday, a security source from the province said a suicide attack occurred east of Balad.

an army soldier was killed, while three others were wounded as IS militants attacked a joint checkpoint for army and PMFs in Yathrib region, south of Salahuddin.

On Tuesday, al-Salam Corps, the military wing of popular Shia cleric Muqtada al-Sadr’s movement, said it killed three IS suicide bombers late Monday before they could stage an attack against nightclubs in the town of Balad, south of Tikrit, the province’s capital.

“Aerial bombardment of a rest house at the outskirts of the western coast of Shirqat town, north of Salahuddin, left three militants killed and others wounded,” the source told AlSumaria News.

Speaking on condition of anonymity, the source added that “four air raids targeted the town over the past 24 hours, which left several militants killed and injured.”

Philippine troops join MILF to fight breakaway group
[Inquirer] The Philippine military said it had teamed up with old enemies behind a long-running Muslim insurgency as it looks to eject a breakaway gang of radical militants pledging loyalty to the Islamic State. As artillery shells and rockets pounded targets in this farming town in Datu Salibo, Maguindanao, soldiers were seen mingling freely with several hundred Moro Islamic Liberation Front fighters who have joined an assault on gunmen here.

The joint operation is the latest tactic by the government to try to stamp out pro-IS fighters, after more than three months of battling a separate faction of militants who have besieged Marawi City about 100 kilometers to the north.

Sixth Infantry Division commander Arnel dela Vega said militant groups had taken the opportunity “to build up their forces” while Philippine troops were engaged in Marawi. The alliance with MILF included “providing them with indirect fire support and even air support and other expertise,” he said adding that the awkwardness of fighting alongside former longtime foes had vanished.

The military is feeding intelligence to the MILF in the fight against about 60 militants led by Esmael Abdulmalik alias Abu Turaifi, a former MILF guerrilla leader. But Dela Vega said troops would not merge with the MILF fighting groups because they had “different operational tactics and procedures” in the conflict, which began in early August on marshlands here. He said the deal was a “win-win” situation for both the government and the MILF.

Senior MILF leader Mohagher Iqbal said the breakaway Abu Turaifi-led militants wanted to steal the MILF’s guerrilla army and had the same goals as the pro-IS militant faction seeking to carve out territory in Marawi.

Menendez Co-Defendant Plays Race Card Almost Immediately
[Daily Caller] Democratic New Jersey Sen. Bob Menendez’s corruption trial is an unfair attack on Hispanic Americans, the lawyer for Menendez’s co-defendant argued on the second day of the trial.

Prosecutors say Menendez sold political favors to a friend, Dr. Salamon Melgen, in exchange for more than half a million dollars worth of bribes, including helping Melgen navigate government issues while Melgen committed Medicare fraud. Menendez is facing a dozen corruption-related charges.

Melgen’s attorney, Kirk Ogrosky, attempted to frame the trial in racial terms while addressing the jury on Thursday, Politico reported.

"Sal and Bob were part of a fellowship of Hispanic Americans. Entrepreneurs, businessmen, doctors, politicians. You’ll hear this at trial: their idea was to pay it forward, help young Hispanic Americans improve their lives, lift up their community, play a larger role in their community," Ogrosky said. "This case isn’t only an attack on those two men. It’s an attack on that whole group."

Prosecutors say Menendez repeatedly lobbied then-Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius and acting Medicare administrator Marilyn Tavenner on Melgen’s behalf in Medicare disputes. Prosecutors say Melgen defrauded the government of more than $105 million.

That person needs a mandate to listen to, empower and advocate for the men standing by the helm of our Navy AND Merchant ships without bureaucratic and budgetary entanglements. That person is Admiral Davidson and we hope he has the support of his peers."
