Peaceful Portland Protests™ turn violent as seven Antifa demonstrators are arrested
check out the mug shots, including Thomas 'Sarah' Wallace
At least seven were arrested in Portland on Sunday during violent clashes between Antifa demonstrators and white nationalists.

Two police officers were injured as protesters threw rocks and smoke bombs at police during the 'Patriot Prayer' rally.

Authorities in the city were preparing for violence at around noon as anticipation grew for a rally that was staged by the right-wing organization.

At around the same time, police made sure to create a buffer between Patriot Prayer and several hundred counter-protesters belonging to another group which demonstrated under the banner ‘Shut Down White Supremacy'.

There was also a street march organized by the group Portland Stands United Against Hate.

The tensions nearly escalated to a tragedy after police arrested one man who witnesses say attempted to plow his pick-up truck into a group of Antifa demonstrators.

#2  I'm curious where the 'White Nationalists' label comes from. I looked at the article and didn't see any Nazi symbols - just a 'Trump' sign.

Am I missing something. Seems the media is starting to smear anything to the right of Joseph Stalin as 'White Nationalist.

And per the pic -does that mean we can start shooting AntiFa members now?

Remembering 9/11: Rick Rescorla, a Singing Hero (Prescient Video)
[Victory Girls] Every culture tells the stories of its heroes. There are multiple reasons for telling the stories of heroes. As long as we tell the story and say the name of the hero, he still lives. Telling the story of the hero inspires each successive generation to heroism. Rick Rescorla was a hero on September 11, 2001 in the World Trade Center in lower Manhattan, New York City. His story must be told and the name of Rick Rescorla must be said aloud to keep him alive.

Birth Control and Homosexuality: Unintended Consequences
BLUF:
[American Thinker] There is a body of evidence that early hormonal manipulation can have horrific consequences.

We have to ask ourselves, what happens to all those women using hormonal contraceptives when they stop their pills in anticipation of wanted pregnancy. Does the normal human cycle return immediately, or is there a rebound effect where, even if ovulation occurs, the ambient hormonal background in the womb is screwed up? This article addressed the question of whether gonadal steroid exposure during prenatal development is one of the factors, in at least one of the pathways, that lead to variability in sexual orientation outcomes. Based on the compelling evidence that prenatal testosterone exposure influences children’s sex-typical play behavior, on the well-established links between childhood play interests and adult sexual orientation, and on the evidence showing altered sexual orientation in women exposed to high levels of androgens prenatally, because of CAH, the answer appears to be "yes." - National Institutes of Health

Edima, MN Public School: Embracing Ancestry, Genetic Code, and Melanin
[Powerline] Edina is a wealthy suburb of Minneapolis that at one time had one of the finest public school systems in the United States. As I have documented here, here, here and here, the Edina schools decided some years ago to prioritize left-wing indoctrination over academic excellence. The result has been a decline in academic performance, and a pervasive atmosphere of oppression and bullying directed against non-conforming students and parents.

A blockbuster story on the Edina schools will soon be coming out. In the meantime, consider this beginning-of-school-year email from the principal of Edina’s Highlands Elementary School:

Leftists Celebrate The Death Of Eric Bolling's Son
[Daily Caller] Eric Chase Bolling, the son of former Fox News anchor Eric Bolling, died on Saturday. His passing is being celebrated by leftists on Twitter to mock his father, who lost his job on the cable news network following allegations of sexual harassment.

TMZ reported that Bolling Jr., who was 19, died from a drug overdose. Numerous leftists on Twitter called his death a fitting punishment for his father’s alleged actions.

"I knew [Eric Bolling] was a POS, but it is incredibly rare to see karma deliver such harsh justice," wrote @Donnie2Scoop. "The teen son deserved better."

Dozens of other progressives mocked Bolling for his son’s death, also calling it karma. Many gloated over the tragedy, sharing GIFs and images to express their joy at his suffering.

Eight killed, including gunman, in shooting at Texas home 'Cowboys' viewing party
[Reuters] DALLAS - A gunman killed seven people at a home in a Dallas suburb on Sunday evening before being shot dead by police called to the scene, authorities said.

The shooting took place in Plano, a suburb north of Dallas.

David Tilley, a spokesman for the Plano Police Department, said the shooter was killed by the first responding officer after an exchange of gunfire. The officer was not injured.

Seven people were found dead in the Plano home.

Two additional shooting victims were taken to a local hospital. Their condition was unknown.

"We’re trying to put all the puzzle pieces together," Tilley said.

There was no information yet on the relationship between the suspect and the victims. Local media reports that the shooting occurred at a Dallas Cowboys viewing party could not be confirmed either.

Bannon on 60 Minutes: I Hold Bush Admin ‘Geniuses' in ‘Complete Contempt'
Former White House Chief Strategist Steve Bannon blasted the "geniuses" in former President George W. Bush’s administration for selling out American workers and getting the country stuck in the Middle East in a 60 Minutes interview with CBS anchor Charlie Rose.

Bannon took offense at establishment Republicans associated with the Bush administration who went out of their way to question President Donald Trump’s competence during the 2016 campaign even though nearly all of their "genius" ideas‐like Paul Wolfowitz’s brand of nation-building and neoconservatism‐turned out to be disastrous.

"I hold these people in contempt, total and complete contempt," Bannon told Rose, adding that the former Bush administration officials get him riled up with anger like nothing else. "They’re idiots, and they’ve gotten us in this situation, and they question a good man like Donald Trump."

Bannon blasted "the geniuses in the Bush administration that let China in the W.T.O.," and reminded Rose that the "genius in the Bush administration told us, ’Hey, they’re going to be a liberal democracy. They’re going to be free-market capitalism.’ The same geniuses that got us into Iraq."

Bannon also denounced George W. Bush and "his entire national security apparatus," which included people like Condi Rice, Brent Scowcroft, Colin Powell and Dick Cheney.

Consistent with the disdain he has always had for the bipartisan permanent political class in Washington’s "Boomtown," Bannon also blasted "the Obama crowd," which he said was "almost the same."

"Clinton crowd, almost the same," he continued. "It’s three administrations."

The Breitbart News executive chairman clashed in the White House with national security adviser H.R. McMaster, who represented the foreign policy views of the Bush foreign policy establishment. Bannon’s absence in the White House was almost immediately felt when Trump’s first speech without Bannon as his chief strategist, which was about increasing America’s involvement in Afghanistan, was heralded as a "classic neocon speech," with some fanboys even saying that neocon Paul Wolfowitz is now president.

Europe
Spotted at the Vuelta a Espana...
Chris Froome pulls off the rare Tour de France / Vuelta win in the same year, but I'm mentioning something much more sinister / idiotic I spotted when they were handing out the trophies at the end of the race.

There was a building in the background from which some jagoffs hung a fairly big banner - REFUGEES WELCOME, and the TV crew (Olympic Channel, formerly NBC Universal) made it a point to show it a second time for about twenty seconds. To me, it's just another data point on how far Europe's political 'leadership' slid into this complete insanity.

German cities split with 'anti-Semitic' BDS boycott movement
[IsraelTimes] The international protest movement to boycott Israel is increasingly encountering resistance in Germany's big cities. Frankfurt, Berlin and Munich have said BDS uses language from the Nazi era.

For over ten years, an international network of protest against Israeli policy toward the Paleostinians has existed: the "Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions" (BDS) movement. It began in 2005 when numerous Paleostinian organizations expressed extensive criticism of Israeli policy towards the Paleostinians. Internationally, the call to boycott Israeli products from the occupied territories and holdings of Israeli companies was based on a long-term campaign in the 1980s against the apartheid system in South Africa.

For a long time, BDS' stance was regarded as critical of Israel as a whole or anti-Zionist. But recently, several German metropolises have judged the protest movement to be "anti-Semitic" and have outlawed official support to the movement.

At the national level, the anti-BDS movement is also gaining steam. At its annual convention in Essen in December 2016, Merkel's CDU party approved a petition that would make the party condemn or oppose any BDS activities. Becker also initiated that petition.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Israeli warplanes cause sonic boom over southern Lebanon
[Iran Press TV] Israeli fighter jets have violated Lebanese airspace and flown low over parts of the country in flagrant violation of a UN Security Council resolution.

Security sources and residents said the Israeli aircraft crossed into Lebanese airspace over the southern city of Sidon, located 40 kilometers (25 miles) south of the capital, Beirut, on Sunday, causing sonic booms that broke windows and shook buildings.

The sonic booms also caused panic among local residents. The Israeli military is yet to comment on the incident.

The incident came a day after Leb’s Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil said the Arab country would lodge an "urgent complaint" with the United Nations
...a lucrative dumping ground for the relatives of dictators and party hacks...
Security Council against Israel over an Arclight airstrike conducted from the Lebanese airspace on a military facility in the western Syrian province of Hama.

The Syrian army said in a statement on September 7 that Israeli warplanes had fired a number of missiles at 2:42 a.m. local time (0042 GMT) from the Lebanese airspace against one of its military positions near the town of Masyaf, located approximately 40 kilometers west of the historic provincial capital city of Hama.

Portland Police Are Purging Their Gang Database Because There Aren’t Enough White Gangs
[DAILYCALLER] Portland police will no longer maintain a database of suspected gang members, due to concerns that the vast majority of people with the gang label are racial minorities.

Starting Oct. 15, the Portland Police Bureau will end the 20-year practice of issuing gang member designations, which police say can lead to "unintended consequences" and a lifelong stigma even for those who have given up the gang lifestyle. Officials intend to notify the approximately 300 people on the gang list that the bureau will purge all records related to the designations, The Oregonian reported.

"There are still criminal gang members. That doesn’t go away because we don’t have a gang designation," said Capt. Mike Krantz, according to The Oregonian. "We’re not pretending gang violence doesn’t exist. We’re just taking this one thing away."

City officials and community activists had long urged the bureau to stop attaching the gang designation to criminal suspects, claiming the practice disproportionately impacted people of color. A review of police data by The Oregonian last year found that 81 percent of the "criminal gang affiliates" in Portland’s database were racial or ethnic minorities.

"This is too long coming," said Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler, who is also the city’s police commissioner. "It was the right thing to do."

Joe 'Smart' and friend trapped in rat infested room on lawless island wrecked by Irma have been 'abandoned by the British Gov't'
[Telegraph] British couple have been hiding in a rat infested bathroom with no water for five days as the Caribbean island they were living on descends into lawlessness in the wake of Hurricane Irma, their family have said.

Jos Smart, 26, and his girlfriend Julia Taylor, 30, say they have been abandoned by the British Government and are too afraid to leave the half destroyed hotel that they found refuge in amid reports of looting and violence.

The Category 5 storm hit the island on Wednesday and it has since been placed under curfew to try and restore order.

British Troops and police officers have been sent to help the British Virgin Islands (BVI), but families of those on St Maarten, which is Dutch and shares the island with the French St Martin to the north, say that because it is not a British territory their loved ones have been abandoned.
Perhaps because the responsibility for rescuing people from Dutch territory lies with the Dutch?
Well, Julia does appear to be quite a legitimate distraction from the weather.

Jamaicans with passports but no US visas were trying to get off island and I think they decided to figure it out in PR. I don't think people realize the extent of devastation after a direct hit from a Cat 5 storm, with no communication or power on islands that must import everything, but these former colonies also had the prisons destroyed with about 150 prisoners running loose in the BVI. All homes and vegetation were destroyed, including the VG Yacht Harbor for mega yachts THE Aga Khan was fond of, & the mosque in Roadtown. 'Left Behind' in the Caribbean with machete wielding thugs is truly a terrifying thought.

"U.S.-led Coalition jets bombarded on Sunday IS locations in Qaim, Annah and Rawa, west of Anbar. Seventeen IS members, including leader, Mohammed Abboud Abd Manaf, were killed in Wadi al-Kasr region, located between Annah and Rawa. IS member in charge of the group’s prisons in Qaim, known as Farhan Rafiq Eteiwy, was also killed," the source told Alghad Press on Sunday.

Speaking on condition of anonymity, the source added, "the shelling left five civilians maimed, with two of them at death's door. Moreover, a group’s weapon stash was destroyed."

On Friday, Coalition jets reportedly bombarded three booby-trapped vehicles in several regions in Annah, killing several Lion of Islams. A local source told Alsumaria News that violent kabooms were heard at three Islamic State headquarters in central Hawija (55 km southwest of Kirkuk) following strikes by warplanes from the United States-led coalition.

"One of the targeted locations was used by the group as a secret meeting room, and had been under tight security," said the source.

A week ago, the Iraqi Joint Operations Command said operations would launch sooner to recapture Hawija. The announcement came shortly after the JOC said it totally took over Tal Afar, the Islamic State’s last stronghold in Nineveh province. Russian strike kills 34 civilians in Syria
[DAWN] At least 34 non-combatants were killed on Sunday when Russian warplanes targeted ferries carrying them across the Euphrates River near Syria's eastern city of Deir Ezzor, a monitor said.

The Britannia-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitoring group initially reported 21 deaths in Russian air strikes but later raised the toll to 34, saying that "more bodies have been found in the river".

Observatory head Rami Abdel Rahman said nine children were among those killed fleeing fighting and that "dozens" of people were maimed in the strikes.

He said the raids targeted "more than 40 ferries" that had left al-Boulil town southwest of Deir Ezzor city for the eastern shore of the river.

The Observatory relies on a network of sources inside Syria, and says it determines whose planes carry out raids according to type, location, flight patterns and munitions used.

Three Hazaras among four shot dead in Quetta
[DAWN] Four people, including three members of the Hazara community, were killed and two others were maimed when unidentified gunnies opened fire on their vehicle in Quetta's Kuchlak area on Sunday evening.

The members were "targeted" on their way from the Chaman border crossing at the Pak-Afghan border, said police official Zahoor Khan.

Two women travelling in the car were maimed and transferred to Quetta's Civil Hospital for treatment, Khan told DawnNews, adding, "The incident seems to be an act of assassination'>assassination."

The suspects sped away on their cycle of violences after opening fire, Khan said.

Moments later, police officials and law enforcement agencies' personnel arrived at the site of the incident as investigations into the shooting were underway.

In the aftermath of the attack, traffic at the busy Kuchlak Bazar was jammed for one hour.

North Korea illegally exported commodities worth $270m
[DAWN] North Korea illegally exported coal, iron and other commodities worth at least $270 million to China and other countries including India, Malaysia and Sri Lanka in the six-month period ending in early August in violation of UN sanctions, UN experts say.

The experts monitoring sanctions said in a report released Saturday that Kim Pudge Jong-un
...the overweight, pouty-looking hereditary potentate of North Korea. Pudge appears to believe in his own divinity, but has yet to produce any loaves and fishes, so his subjects remain malnourished...
's government continues to flout sanctions on commodities as well as an arms embargo and restrictions on shipping and financial activities.

They said North Korea is also reportedly continuing prohibited nuclear activities with weapons-grade fissile material production at the Yongbyon nuclear complex, construction and maintenance at the Punggye-ri nuclear test site, and at a uranium mine in Pyongsan.

The eight-member panel of experts said it is also investigating the widespread presence of North Koreans in Africa and the Middle East, particularly in Syria, "including their involvement in prohibited activities."

Rohingya rebels call one-month Myanmar ceasefire as exodus grows
[DAWN] Rohingya holy warriors, who sparked an army crackdown in Myanmar that has seen nearly 300,000 Rohingya flee to Bangladesh, on Sunday declared a unilateral ceasefire to allow aid to reach the increasingly desperate refugees.

The United Nations
...boodling on the grand scale...
(UN) said 294,000 bedraggled and exhausted Rohingya refugees have arrived in Bangladesh since the holy warriors' attacks on Myanmar security forces in Rakhine state on August 25 sparked a major military backlash.

Tens of thousands more are believed to be on the move inside Rakhine after more than a fortnight without shelter, food and water.

Three Rohingya are reported to have been killed by a mine near the border allegedly laid by Myanmar security forces to stop the runaways returning.

Mainly Buddhist Myanmar does not recognise its stateless Moslem Rohingya community, labelling them as "Bengalis" ─ illegal immigrants colonists from Bangladesh.

A further 27,000 ethnic Rakhine Buddhists as well as Hindus have also fled violence that has gripped the northern part of the state.

"The Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) hereby declares a temporary cessation of offensive military operations," the group said in a statement on its official Twitter account.

It urged "all humanitarian actors" to resume aid delivery to "all victims of humanitarian crisis irrespective of ethnic or religious background" during the one-month ceasefire period until October 9.

ARSA called on Myanmar to "reciprocate this humanitarian pause" in fighting.

There was no immediate response from Myanmar's military, but on Saturday authorities said they would set up three relief camps in Rohingya-majority areas.

Cleric apologises for banning music
[DAWN] LANDI KOTAL: A local holy man, who had imposed ban on music, on Saturday tendered an apology to the political administration for taking law into his hands.

Sources said father of the holy man, Mohammad Ibrahim akka Bacha Jan, and three other family members were summoned to the offices of political administration in Landi Kotal, where officials reprimanded them for taking law into their hands by not only conducting raids at private properties of some local residents but also imposing ban on all types of music in the Shinwari territory of Landi Kotal.

They said the political administration was under pressure from public after the ban.

In their written apology they contended that the incident (burning of music instruments) which occurred on Sept 8 and the announcements made were result of a misunderstanding and would not be repeated in future.

"We will not take the law into our hands in future and will remain peaceful citizens," the statement said and added that they repented their deeds.

The apology came after strong criticism from the civil society and even the ordinary citizens.

Hakim Shinwari, a local trader, said it was tantamount to creation of a parallel administration, which the local residents won’t tolerate.

Iran's missile boat warns off US warship in Sea of Oman
[Iran Press TV] An Iranian missile boat has warned off an American warship approaching an Iranian dhow in the Sea of Oman, the Navy of the Islamic Theocratic Republic of Iran Army said in a statement on Sunday.

"The dhow, Shams (Sun), had set sail from the port city of Jask in southeastern Iran to test its motor. Forty-five miles (72 kilometers) into the sea, the vessel’s motor started to malfunction, prompting the sailors to alert the Iranian Navy," it said.

The Navy dispatched Falakhan (Sling) missile boat to the vessel’s rescue, which towed the broken-down dhow to the port but before that, the US destroyer was seen approaching the site, it said.

"The American warship left the area with a warning and the announcement of the Falakhan missile boat's timely presence in the region," the statement said.

Iran's naval patrols and US warships have been engaged in a series of face-offs in the Persian Gulf in recent months, where Washington has accused Iranian vessels of "harassing" American warships.

Iranian military commanders say while their units continue routine patrols, US naval units have changed their navigational patterns since President Donald Trump

More than 70 terror cells busted in last 2 months, Netanyahu says
[IsraelTimes] Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Sunday that dozens of terror plots were stopped in the past two months by the Shin Bet domestic security service.

"In July and August, the Shin Bet thwarted over 70 terrorist cells that were planning attacks against Israeli soldiers and civilians," Netanyahu said before the weekly cabinet meeting at the Prime Minister’s Office in Jerusalem. "Israeli civilians don’t know everything that the Shin Bet does."

He did not elaborate on the nature of the attacks or how many arrests were made. The Shin Bet confirmed the number but declined to offer details.

The security service regularly makes announcements of arrests and foiled terror plots in Israel and the West Bank, though it often waits until charges are filed to confirm arrests.

Last week the agency said in its monthly report that it had recorded 110 terror attacks in August compared to 222 the previous month, when tensions around the Temple Mount compound in Jerusalem generated a major spike in incidents.

The decrease brought the number of attacks back to a level similar to before the July conflagration, which resulted in the highest number of incidents in any month since December 2015. From January 2016 onward, Israel saw an average of 121 attacks against its citizens per month.

group holds some 11,100 blank Syrian passports that can be completed with any individual's details, weekly newspaper Bild am Sonntag reported Sunday.

Investigators have assembled a list of serial numbers of the blank passports and the authorities that issued them, the newspaper reported, citing confidential documents from federal police and the interior ministry.

The stolen passports are genuine identity papers that have not yet been filled out with an individual's details, making them a valuable tool for forgers.

In total, German security services are aware of some 18,002 blank Syrian passports stolen from Syrian government sites, including thousands held by groups other than IS.

"Developments in connection with the refugee situation have shown that terrorist organizations are using the opportunity to infiltrate potential attackers or supporters into Europe
...also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
and Germany undetected," a spokeswoman for the BKA federal criminal police told Bild am Sonntag.

However,
some people are alive only because it's illegal to kill them...
"'Fake or altered passports are mostly used for illegal entry without further motives like carrying out a terrorist attack," the spokeswoman said.

Some 8,625 passports checked by German migration authorities in 2016 turned out to be fakes according to the documents seen by Bild am Sonntag.

But the files provided no information on how many of the passports were among those that had passed through IS' hands.

Russian Army to receive newest T-90M in 2018
The Russian tank’s manufacture Uralvagonzavod (UVZ) displayed publicly for the first time a new version of T-90 main battle tank during the demonstration of newest armored vehicles in honor of the tanker’s day on the territory of the 33rd combined-arms training range.

The upgraded version of T-90 main battle tank is called T-90M. The new tank will likely feature many of the technologies developed for Russia’s revolutionary T-14 Armata.

The T-90M will also incorporate advanced defensive systems such are slat armor, active protection systems and new reactive armor. The T-90 main battle tank is an armed with a fully-stabilized longer 2A46M-4 125 mm smoothbore gun. This gun is also used to launch 9K119 Refleks (NATO designation AT-11 Sniper-B) anti-tank guided missiles, in the same manner, as ordinary munitions.

Secondary armament consists of a coaxial PKT 7.62 mm machine gun and a roof mounted remotely-controlled NSVT 12.7 mm machine gun, used against both ground and air targets.
The new 125mm tank gun that is destined to be the main gun for the T-14 Armata is a more durable version of the current gun. The barrel also is longer than the old model, which will increase velocity and range, but to what extent is anyone's guess. The Russians ain't sayin'.

Talking to journalists here on Saturday, the veteran leader said that America was responsible for all the mess in the region. Enemies of Pakistain would continue to create hurdles in the implementation of China-Pakistain Economic Corridor projects and various other schemes in smaller provinces, he cautioned.

He criticised successive rulers for failing to formulate strategies to face challenges. The rulers and corrupt officials were responsible for the poor state of schools across the province, he said.

2 suspects in France face terror charges over explosives lab
[Ynet] French prosecutors on Sunday issued preliminary terror charges for two men linked to an explosives lab discovered in an apartment near Paris.

Paris counter-terrorism prosecutor Francois Molins said the men detained last week were charged with terrorist association and the manufacture of explosives.

Molins said the men—a 36-year-old apartment owner named Ali M.R. and a man known as Frederic M. who was previously known to intelligence authorities -- aimed "to manufacture a bomb" to carry out an attack in France. He said, however, no specific plan had been found.

The explosive materials—along with the message in Arabic "God is great"—were found accidently in the lab in the Paris suburb of Villejuif on Wednesday after workmen had been called to fix a nearby water leak and told authorities after noticing suspicious products in an apartment.

Up to four kilograms (nearly 9 pounds) of the explosive TATP could have been manufactured from the material discovered, Molins said. TATP, a peroxide-based explosive, has been employed often by Islamic extremists.
The Times of Israel adds:
Molins said the two admitted they wanted to join Islamic State.

A third man was released Sunday without being charged.

NFL opening weekend sees more Star-Spangled Banner protests
[SPORTS.YAHOO] Seattle's Michael Bennett and Oakland's Marshawn Lynch joined other NFL athletes Sunday in protesting the treatment of minorities by US law enforcement during the first weekend of the regular season.

Both Bennett and Lynch remained seated during The Star-Spangled Banner before the Seahawks and Raiders season-opening games as part of a continuing wave of protests that began last year with former the Socialist paradise of San Francisco

49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

Bennett sat as teammate Justin Britt stood next to him with his hand on his shoulder while another teammate, Thomas Rawls, stood on Bennett's other side before the game against the Green Bay Packers.

Bennett's brother, Martellus, who plays for the Packers, stood at the end of the Green Bay bench with his right fist in the air.

Two weeks ago, Bennett was detained on a Las Vegas street for about 10 minutes by police who were investigating the firing of gunshots in the area.

Bennett has alleged that he had been the victim of racial discrimination after being threatened at gunpoint by the police. He said they "singled" him out for "nothing more than being a black man in the wrong place at the wrong time."

Police denied the charge and said Bennett was detained briefly because he was spotted running from the police before jumping over a wall. Bennett was handcuffed but police did not arrest or charge him.

Raiders runningback Lynch also sat during the anthem just like he did a number of times during the preseason. Lynch, unlike Bennett, has declined to discuss his reasons for doing so.

, players linked arms with police, military and firefighters during the anthem before the Browns' opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers. No players knelt during the song.

Philadelphia Eagles safety Malcolm Jenkins and Los Angeles Rams linebacker Robert Quinn also raised their fists in protest before their games started.

Kaepernick remains unsigned after trying unsuccessfully to land a job with another team following his release from the 49ers.

A ton of empty seats greet the Rams as they start second season in Los Angeles
[SPORTS.YAHOO] At least Los Angeles now has two NFL teams to not care about.

There should be some excitement for both teams in Los Angeles as this season starts. The Chargers just moved there, and every other team in professional sports history that has relocated has been greeted warmly by their new city. Not the Chargers, who didn’t come close to selling out their temporary 30,000-seat soccer stadium in Carson for the preseason.

There should be some excitement for the Rams too. Last season wasn’t very good, but new coach Sean McVay was hired and there were good results for second-year quarterback Jared Goff in the preseason. Also, fans get excited for just about any team starting a new season. And for Week 1 of just the second season for the Rams back in Los Angeles, it looked like the Coliseum was maybe half full.

#2  In five years when Brady, Rogers, E. Manning, and Brees are gone, the NFL will hit a slide and stay there for a bunch of years.

It's their turn. The NFL has had a good run over the last fifteen or so years but every one of the big four goes through peaks and valleys. The NFL is due and their commissioner is accelerating the crash.

Europe
More than 300 Syrian refugees rescued, arrive in Cyprus
[AlAhram] Two boats crowded with 305 Syrian refugees arrived in Cyprus overnight, police said on Sunday, one of the largest group landings of migrants colonists to the island since the outbreak of the Syrian war in 2011.

The vessels were tracked sailing to the north-west of the island and were thought to have set off from the Ottoman Turkish coastal city of Mersin.

"For their safety they were towed to harbour," a police front man said. One of the vessels had been taking in water, the front man added.

Cyprus is the closest European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
member state to Syria, yet many fleeing conflict have largely avoided the island because it has no direct easy access to the rest of the continent.

The single largest group arrival since the Syrian conflict started was 345 people who were rescued in September 2014.

Police said they were questioning a 36 year old Syrian man believed to have been steering one of the vessels. The others would be taken to a reception centre west of the capital, Nicosia.

The Syrians, who included many minors, appeared in good health. A woman and her infant were taken to hospital for precautionary reasons, the front man added.

10 militants dead, nine Egyptian policemen wounded in Cairo shootout
[AlAhram] Ten bandidos holy warriors were killed and nine coppers were maimed on Sunday in a shootout in central Cairo's Agouza district as police were executing a raid, according to a statement by the Ministry of Interior.

Security forces had received information that a number of bandidos holy warriors who escaped the restive North Sinai were hiding out in two apartments in Agouza and were planning a number of attacks in central governorates.

Police were met with gunfire when they attempted to execute an arrest warrant on the suspects at dawn, according to the ministry.

A number of weapons were found in the two apartments.

Six of the suspects have been identified, all of whom had registered addresses in the Greater Cairo area. Two of the suspects were wanted on terrorism-related charges in North Sinai.
The Times of Israel adds:
Egyptian security officials said the militants were members of Hasm, a breakaway Brotherhood faction that has targeted police and army officers in Cairo over the past year in a series of brazen attacks.

Police found in the two apartments bomb-making materials, assault rifles and ammunition as well as maps of vital state installations and computers in which instructions and details of future attacks were stored, they said.

Rouhani urges Venezuelans to unite against US
[Iran Press TV] Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has touched on US meddling in other countries' internal affairs in a meeting with Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro whose country is grappling with months of unrest.

Venezuela has been convulsed by months of unrest, which has plunged the oil-rich country into the worst economic crisis in its history. The government says Washington is instigating the unrest and trying to undermine the South American country.

"We have no doubt that the new methods of the US government cannot last for long," Rouhani said on the sidelines of the first science and technology summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Astana.

Death toll in Mexico quake rises to 90
[DAWN] Government cargo planes flew in supplies and troops began distributing boxes of food to jittery survivors of an 8.1-magnitude earthquake that destroyed a large part of Juchitan and killed at least 37 people in the district, even as officials on Sunday raised the nationwide corpse count to 90.

Some people continued to sleep outside, fearful of more collapses, as strong aftershocks continued to rattle the town, including a magnitude 5.2 jolt early Sunday. Some prompted rescue workers to pause in their labour.

Local officials said they had counted nearly 800 aftershocks of all sizes since late Thursday's big quake, and the US Geological Survey counted nearly 60 with a magnitude of 4.5 or greater.

Teams of soldiers and federal police armed with shovels and sledgehammers fanned out across neighbourhoods in Juchitan to help demolish damaged buildings. Dump trucks choked some narrow streets as they began hauling away the many tons of rubble.

'Ready to respond to Indian misadventures,' says Rawalpindi corps commander
[DAWN] Rawalpindi Corps Commander Lt Gen Nadeem Raza in a visit to the Line of Control (LoC) on Sunday warned that the corps would "respond aggressively and effectively to any Indian miscalculation or misadventure" along the Pak-India border, according to an Inter-Services Public Relations statement.

The corps commander visited the Battal and Dawarandi sectors in Azad Jammu and Kashmire, where he "appreciated the high morale of the troops" and their "effective response" to ceasefire violations by Indian troops, read the ISPR handout.

Lt Gen Raza, while speaking about India's surgical strike claims ─ which have been denied by Pakistain ─ reiterated the troops' resolve to respond to such "misadventures" in the future, ISPR said.

India claimed to have carried out ’surgical strikes’ against 'launch pads of terror' in Azad Jammu and Kashmire days after 19 Indian soldiers were killed were killed during an attack on the Uri army base in September 2016. India had also accused Pakistain of involvement in the Uri attack while Pakistain denied all such claims.

Following the alleged strikes, tensions between Pakistain and India soared, with cross-border exchanges of fire becoming a new normal. India also stepped up a drive to diplomatically isolate Pakistain on the international platform.

There is no doubt that alongside the missile tests, the nuclear tests and the unveiling of the nuclear and hydrogen warheads, the North Korean leadership is also preparing for war. Clinton: ‘I Am Done With Being a Candidate'
[FreeBeacon] Hillary Clinton said in an interview airing Sunday that her career as a political candidate is over, adding she was not finished with politics because "our country's future is at stake."

In an interview on the CBS program "Sunday Morning," Clinton declared she would remain active but that she was "done with being a candidate."

"Is your political career over?" CBS anchor Jane Pauley asked.

"Yes. As an active politician, it's over," Clinton said.

"You will never be a candidate for office‐" Pauley started.

"I am done with being a candidate, but I am not done with politics, because I literally believe that our country's future is at stake," Clinton said.

In her narration of the report, Pauley said Clinton still seemed "gobsmacked" over the defeat at the hands of Donald Trump, saying she "dishes out blame and she accepts responsibility."

Clinton hit Trump for saying being president was harder than he thought it would be.

"Well, yeah, because it's not a show. It's real. It's reality for sure," Clinton said.

The network interview, recorded Friday, is the first in a series of media appearances as Clinton promotes her memoir What Happened, which delves into her 2016 election loss.

In released excerpts, Clinton has laid blame for her defeat on herself but also on Sen. Bernie Sanders (I., Vt.), the media's coverage of her private email scandal, former FBI Director James Comey, Russian meddling in the election and other factors.

Europe
Jewish family beaten, robbed in ‘anti-Semitic’ home invasion near Paris
[IsraelTimes] Assailants said to tell victims, 'You are Jewish, you have money,' before brutally attacking them, threatening to kill them

Three members of a prominent French Jewish family were kidnapped, tied up, brutally beaten and robbed on Thursday night in their home in the suburb of Livry-Gargan northeast of Gay Paree, French authorities said Sunday.

According to the National Bureau for Vigilance against Anti-Semitism (BNVCA), three individuals broke into the house Roger Pinto, the president of the Siona group representing Sephardic Jews, by cutting through the home’s window bars. They then cut off the electricity in the house, tied up Pinto’s son, and held and beat his wife. It was only on Friday morning, several hours later, that Pinto managed to discretely contact police, causing the intruders to flee.

According to the BNVCA report, the unidentified attackers told their victims, "You are Jewish, you have money."

The assailants, black men in their 20s or 30s, according to the victims’ description, took jewelry, cash and credit cards.

The Pintos were taken to hospital for treatment. They suffered some minor injuries but were deeply traumatized, the report said.

The BNVCA called the attack "manifestly anti-Semitic" and "premeditated," and said the family was "threatened with death" and "violently beaten."

In a statement on Sunday, CRIF, the umbrella body of French Jewish organizations, said it "powerfully condemns the very violent and anti-Semitic aggression."

"This odious act is proof, if we needed any, that the Jews of La Belle France are especially threatened in the street, and even more disturbingly, within their very homes," CRIF President Francis Kalifat said.

"After the atrocious murder of Sarah Halimi in her home, this new attack must bring the authorities in our country to a heightened vigilance and deterrence-inducing steps," he added.

Halimi, a 65-year-old Orthodox Jew, was killed by her Moslem neighbor in April in Gay Paree. Prosecutors dropped the anti-Semitic accusation from his indictment, drawing fierce condemnation from the Jewish community.

The Union of Jewish Students of La Belle France also condemned Thursday’s attack, lamenting "the insecurity of French Jews."

Israel’s ambassador to La Belle France, Aliza Bin Noun, offered her own "support to the Jewish family in Livry-Gargan" and "strongly condemn[ed] this anti-Semitic attack" in a tweet Sunday.

The incident is one of several cases in La Belle France in recent years in which criminals singled out Jews out of the apparent belief that they have money.

In 2014, three men broke into the home of a Jewish family in Creteil near Gay Paree. One of them raped a young woman there while another guarded her boyfriend, whom they took prisoner, and a third went with the couple’s credit card to extract cash from an ATM machine. They too allegedly said they targeted the couple because the victims are Jewish.

Occurring amid a major increase in anti-Semitic violence in La Belle France accompanying Israel’s war with Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, in Gazoo that year, the Creteil incident echoed for many the traumatic murder and torture in 2006 of Ilan Halimi, a Jewish phone salesman who was kidnapped by a gang led by a career criminal with a history of targeting mostly Jewish victims.

Some French Jews regard the 2006 Halimi murder as the turning point in the emergence of a wave of violence against Jews in La Belle France and Belgium, in which more than 12 people have died since 2012 in at least three jihadist attacks on Jewish targets.

Hartford (CT) Can Meet Financial Obligations For Only 60 Days; Bankruptcy Likely Without State Aid
[Hartford Courant] Mayor Luke Bronin fired a warning shot at lawmakers and Gov. Dannel P. Malloy Thursday, saying Hartford would seek permission to file for bankruptcy if the city didn’t get the state aid it needs by early November.

In a sharply worded letter to House and Senate leaders and to Malloy, Bronin cautioned: “If the state fails to enact a budget and continues to operate under the governor’s current executive order, the city of Hartford will be unable to meet its financial obligations in approximately 60 days.”

Malloy unveiled new budget proposals Thursday that would restore funding for municipalities and reject major education cuts planned for Oct. 1. Democrats and Republicans met in an attempt to reach common ground.

But Bronin warned that the “extraordinary measures” other towns are considering in response to the state’s ongoing budget gridlock — layoffs, cuts to services and drawing from rainy day funds — are actions Hartford has taken already.

In 2016, the mayor laid off 40 workers and cut millions from city departments. He also used most of Hartford’s rainy-day fund to help offset deficits. Still, Hartford had to borrow millions in June to help pay its bills.

House Majority Leader Matthew Ritter said he was optimistic that lawmakers would reach an agreement soon.

In July, Hartford hired an international law firm to explore the prospect of seeking Chapter 9 protection. Bronin said the firm, Greenberg Traurig, had “initial conversations” with a large bond insurer and that talks with bond holders are planned for the coming weeks.

Last month, Moody’s Investors Service noted that the financially troubled city was rapidly approaching debt repayment deadlines. Hartford owes $3.8 million in September and $26.9 million in October. The ratings agency said the city’s “path to fiscal sustainability will likely require debt restructuring along with some combination of labor concessions, other expenditure cuts and new revenues.”

Hartford wouldn't be the first city in Connecticut to file for bankruptcy. Bridgeport sought Chapter 9 protection in 1991, but a federal judge dismissed the petition, saying the city was capable of paying its bills.

Bronin must get approval from Malloy to file for bankruptcy.
Just a clue on why they're in the mess they're in...

McCain threatens North Korea with ‘extinction’
[Iran Press TV] US Republican Senator John Maverick McCain
... the Senator-for-Life from Arizona, former presidential candidate and even more former foot soldier in the Reagan Revolution. As an ordinary citizen he greased the infamous hookers peeing on the Obamabed in Moscow dossier in an attempt to smear President Trump...
has warned North Korean leader Kim Pudge Jong-un
...the overweight, pouty-looking hereditary potentate of North Korea. Pudge appears to believe in his own divinity, but has yet to produce any loaves and fishes, so his subjects remain malnourished...
against attacking America and its allies, saying such aggression will lead to the Eastern Asian country’s "extinction."

Washington needs to "make sure that Kim Jong-un knows that if he acts in an aggressive fashion, the price will be extinction," McCain told CNN on Sunday.

The head of Senate Armed Services Committee said Washington should strengthen its missile defenses in South Korea while putting more pressure on China to stop the North’s development of nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles.

He also said that the administration of President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
should start considering deploying nuclear weapons on the Korean Peninsula.

"The [South] Korean defense minister just a few days ago called for nuclear weapons to be redeployed," he said, saying that the call "ought to be seriously considered."

South Korean Defense Minister Song Young-moo said that he and his American counterpart James Mattis had already discussed the nuclear deployment in the South, which would be a first in over 25 years.

He also called on Washington to move "strategic assets" like US aircraft carriers, nuclear submarines, and B-52 bombers to the peninsula.

McCain was also fond of the idea, saying that the US needed to further encircle the North by expanding its military presence in the region.

Speaking at a joint presser, Senator Hafiz Hamdullah of Jamaat Ulema-e-Islam
...Assembly of Islamic Clergy, or JUI, is a Pak Deobandi (Hanafi) political party. There are two main branches, one led by Maulana Fazlur Rahman, and one led by Maulana Samiul Haq. The Jamaat's objectives are the establishment of a pure Islamic state, governed by Sharia law. It is distinguished by its xenophobia, and its opposition to Westernization, capitalism, socialism, secularism, and liberalist social mores...
and Maulana Abdul Qadir Luni of Jamaat Ulema-e-Islam-Nazaryati as well as many other leaders demanded taking all possible steps for early recovery of the kidnapped leader.

They warned that political and religious parties and members of the civil society would mount a massive protest if the authorities failed to meet their demand.

They said a strike would be observed in the bustling provincial capital on Sept 12, adding that future line of action would be devised in view of the government’s response.

Most of the leaders were of the view that the provincial government had failed to maintain law and order in Balochistan as the religious scholar was kidnapped in broad daylight along with his son and two others.

Syrian army, allies retake control over Dayr al-Zawr power station
[Iran Press TV] Syrian army soldiers, backed by allied fighters from popular defense groups, have managed to regain full control over a power station in Dayr al-Zawr as they push to drive the ISIS Takfiri
...an adherent of takfir wal hijra, an offshoot of Salafism that regards everybody who doesn't agree with them as apostates who must be killed...
Death Eaters out of the strategic eastern city.

Syrian government forces and their allies recaptured the facility, which lies west of Dayr al-Zawr air base, on Sunday following intense festivities with ISIS holy warriors, pro-government and Arabic-language al-Masdar news agency reported.

Moreover, Syrian soldiers managed to wrest control over the highway linking Dayr al-Zawr to the city of Sukhnah, and advanced on the Brigade 137 base as well as al-Panorama district. Scores of ISIS bad boyz were potted and injured during the operations and their military hardware destroyed.

Syrian army units also tightened the noose around scores of ISIS Death Eaters on the outskirts of al-Taim oil field, killing and injuring many of them.

The developments came only a day after Syrian army troops and pro-government fighters managed to break a nearly three-year siege imposed by ISIS Takfiris on Dayr al-Zawr air base.

Syrian government forces and their allies had launched a new push on Friday towards the besieged military airport, as part of a multi-pronged offensive to retake the entire Dayr al-Zawr, located 450 kilometers northeast of the capital Damascus, from ISIS krazed killers.

At least 40 trucks carrying basic commodities such as fuel, food and medical supplies for civilians, in addition to two mobile clinics, arrived in Dayr al-Zawr on Thursday, only two days after Syrian army forces and fighters from popular defense groups reached the eastern city and breached the ISIS siege.

Iraq
1,400 foreign women, children left behind by Daesh after Tal Afar liberation
[Iran Press TV] After being expelled from Tal Afar, the ISIS terrorist group has left behind some 1,400 foreign wives and children, who are now in the custody of the Iraqi government.

According to Iraqi security and aid officials on Sunday, those left behind are mostly from Russia, The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
, and Central Asia, with some also from European countries.

Iraqi officials are currently engaged in the process of verifying their identities and nationalities, as many of the women have lost or destroyed their original credentials.

The group, which is the largest group of foreigners linked to ISIS in Iraq, are currently being housed in a specially-designated camp, which they are not permitted to leave.

On August 31, Iraq’s Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi announced that the northern city of Tal Afar and the entire Nineveh province have been purged of the ISIS Takfiri
...an adherent of takfir wal hijra, an offshoot of Salafism that regards everybody who doesn't agree with them as apostates who must be killed...
terrorists.

Iraqi prime minister says city of Tal Afar and entire Nineveh province have been freed of ISIS terrorists.
The Iraqi government is currently negotiating with the women’s home country embassies for their returning home.

"I want to go back (to La Belle France) but don’t know how," said a French-speaking woman of Chechen origin who claims to come from Gay Paree. She also said that she has no idea concerning the current whereabouts of her husband who brought her to Iraq to join the terrorists.

Some of the women claim that they were tricked by their husbands into joining the gunnies during trips to Turkey.

"My mother doesn’t even know where I am," said a French woman of Algerian descent. "I had just given birth to this little girl three months before... He said ’let’s go for a week’s holiday in Turkey.’ He had already bought the plane tickets and the hotel," she added.

Tal Afar, situated about 150 kilometers from Syria's border, was among the last ISIS-held cities in Iraq. The liberation of Tal Afar deprives ISIS of what was once a key supply route between its territory in Syria and Iraq.

Iraqi army soldiers and allied fighters from Popular Mobilization Units have been leading a major operation to rid the country of the Takfiri elements.

China-Japan-Koreas
North Korea's Threat Might Be Worse Than We Think
[AmericanThinker]. If the U.S. pre-emptively attacks North Korea, Seoul, the capital of South Korea, and other places in Asia might get blasted in retaliation, but America will have knocked out North Korea's nuclear capability. Right?

Wrong ‐ at least in the opinion of a U.S. senior intelligence consultant who worked on a secret study of North Korea's nuclear program for the government and disagrees with widespread intelligence opinion, echoed by the press, that there are no viable options for dealing with North Korea's nuclear threat except negotiations.

Dwight R. Rider, 30 years a targeting specialist for the U.S. with a master's degree from the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), says the reason the U.S. intelligence community (I.C.) says negotiation is the only option is that the I.C. rejected the study his group made that identified hidden nuclear facilities and weapons in North Korea and now realizes they don't know where to target. Thus, in their minds, any pre-emptive attack might have only minimal effect on North Korea's capability and leave the rogue state with plenty of retaliation options.

Rider is so worried about the U.S. making wrong decisions regarding what to do about the North Korean threat that he's decided to go public, including writing a letter to President Trump and other officials he thinks might be able to influence Trump's actions.

"It is unlikely that long-standing issues between North Korea and the U.S. can be resolved through negotiation," Rider writes in the letter to the president. "Any effort to force North Korea" to bow to outside pressure "means regime change." That's not acceptable to North Korea, he says. Therefore, "some level of force may be necessary."

The problem is, he charges, that U.S. targeters don't have good information, and any strike deemed necessary might thus be impotent, inviting retaliation.

The only reason I'm privy to this is that Rider is a source for me in updating an early book of mine, Japan's Secret War, about Japan trying to make an atomic bomb in North Korea during World War II. As an expert in North Korean topography and nuclear signatures, he believes, as I do, that North Korea's nuclear program grew out of what the Japanese, who occupied the peninsula during the war, left there after the surrender. In my updating, we've become friends, and he's voiced the targeting problem more than once. With the current threat escalation and his fear that U.S. planners have bad information, Rider decided to try to correct the situation.

"I believe North Korea's uranium enrichment program long predates it's rather recent interest in plutonium and other nuclear weapons. I believe North Korea has far more capabilities than our intelligence community believes."

Three ‘RAW agents’ get bail in anti-state acts, illicit weapons cases
[DAWN] An antiterrorism court on Saturday granted bail to three men, alleged to be agents of the Indian intelligence agency RAW
... India's Research and Analysis Wing, Pakistain's equivalent of the Boogie Man...
, in cases pertaining to anti-state activities and possession of explosives and illicit weapons.

Mohammad Shafiq Khan alias Pappu, an employee of the Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
Water and Sewerage Board, Abdul Jabbar alias Zafar Tension, Mohsin Khan alias Kashif, Khalid Aman alias Dad and Adil Ansari have been charged with allegedly spying for the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), getting training in India, being involved in anti-state activities and carrying kaboom and weapons.

The Counter-Terrorism Department claimed to have tossed in the slammer
Maw! They're comin' to get me, Maw!
four of the five accused in August 2015 after an encounter in Gulistan-e-Jauhar and found explosives and unlicensed weapons in their custody. Accused Ansari was arrested later.

Shafiq, Jabbar and Mohsin, through their lawyers, moved bail applications in the main as well as connected cases and after hearing arguments from both sides, the ATC-I judge granted them bail against a surety bond of Rs500,000 each.

The prosecution has so far examined one out of seven witnesses while the high court had already granted bail to Ansari.

According to the prosecution, the accused worked for RAW, got training in India and were involved in terrorism. The court had already declared London-based MQM leader Mohammad Anwar and two others, Mehmood Siddiqui and Mohammad Salman, proclaimed officers.

It maintained that accused Aman disclosed during interrogation that Mr Anwar and Mr Siddiqui had played a role in getting them trained by RAW. It further said that Aman in his confessional statement before a judicial magistrate also said that after training he was arrested and sent to a Delhi jail following a brawl with his accomplice Javed Langra.
