North Korea threatens to ‘reduce US to ashes'
[news.com.au] A NEW threat directed at America and Japan is certain to heighten fears of a North Korean nuclear strike.
The Hermit Kingdom’s state agency on Thursday threatened to use nuclear weapons to "sink" Japan and reduce the United States "to ashes and darkness" for supporting new sanctions.

Pyongyang’s Korea Asia-Pacific Peace Committee, which handles the North’s external ties and propaganda, also called for the breakup of the Security Council, which it called "a tool of evil" made up of "money-bribed" countries that move at the order of the United States.

"The four islands of the archipelago should be sunken into the sea by the nuclear bomb of Juche. Japan is no longer needed to exist near us," the committee said in a statement.
The North also targeted the US directly. "Let’s reduce the US mainland into ashes and darkness. Let’s vent our spite with mobilisation of all retaliation means which have been prepared till now," the statement said.

The threat follows the release of satellite imagery taken just days after North Korea conducted its sixth nuclear test. The images show the secretive state may be preparing for another blast.

Trey Gowdy Wants James Comey Back Before Congress For Questioning
[Daily Caller] GOP Rep. Trey Gowdy said Thursday that there is "sufficient factual basis" to investigate why former FBI Director James Comey decided not to charge Hillary Clinton before interviewing key witnesses.

"There is sufficient factual basis to bring him in and ask him, ’When did you make up your mind that you weren’t going to charge Secretary Clinton?’ I can tell you because I’ve seen with my own eyes he made up his mind before he interviewed her," Gowdy told Fox News. "How far back, whether it was two weeks or two months, quite frankly is immaterial to me. He did it before he interviewed the last witness."

One of the first rules of an investigation is to hold off on a final conclusion until reviewing all evidence that witnesses present, something that Comey did not do, according to Gowdy.

"If there’s anything that’s axiomatic in investigations it’s that you don’t make up your mind until you interview the last witness. It is beyond dispute that he made up his mind not to charge Secretary Clinton before he interviewed her. There’s no question about that. What my friends in the Senate have uncovered is he may well have made up his mind before he interviewed the last dozen witnesses," Gowdy said.

The congressman stopped short of agreeing with White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders that Comey was guilty, and said that if someone in the administration has evidence of wrongdoing, they should refer it to the Department of Justice.

"Alleging criminal violations is very serious which is why I don’t do it. Press secretaries don’t get to make that call. Members of Congress don’t get to make that call. Reporters don’t get to make that call. That’s an executive branch function after an investigation, a charging decision is made by a career prosecutor," he said. "If it’s that clean and clear I’m sure she [Sanders] referred it to the Department of Justice."

"How in the world my fellow citizens can have confidence in an investigation where you reached a conclusion before you even gather all the facts and all the evidence is stunning," Gowdy said.

Military Career Destroyed After Reprimand of Lesbians Showing ‘Inappropriate Behavior'
Moved to Page 3
[100PpercentFedUp] LTC Downey’s troubles began in 2012 when he made the "politically incorrect" effort to prevent two lesbian female officers under his command from violating Army regulations regarding public displays of affection. The two officers, a Captain and a Lieutenant, were in uniform at a formal military ball and were on the dance floor engaged in prolonged French kissing, publicly taking off each other’s uniform jackets, and other intimate and salacious conduct.

Once he became aware of the situation, LTC Downey took immediate action to stop the inappropriate behavior. He also attempted to prevent other soldiers from photographing and videotaping the officers’ inappropriate conduct, which he believed would embarrass the unit as well as the offending officers. In the process of lowering the camera of an enlisted soldier, the camera accidentally made contact with the soldier’s nose.

As a result, despite the recommendations of LTC Downey’s immediate superior, General Mark Milley ordered an investigation and a subsequent Article 15 hearing where he acted as the presiding officer on charges of assault consummated by battery and violation of the repeal of "Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell" policy.

The Article 15 proceeding, which lasted approximately 5 hours, was more concerned about offending homosexual advocacy groups than the guilt or innocence of LTC Downey. General Milley found LTC Downey guilty of the charge of assault consummated by battery. LTC Downey was issued reprimands for both violations, relieved of command, issued a negative Officer Evaluation Report, and removed from the attendance list of the National War College.

Chelsea Manning named visiting fellow at Harvard
[Mil Times] Chelsea Manning will be joining Harvard University as a visiting fellow at the John F. Kennedy School of Government, according to the school’s website.

Manning will speak on issues of LGBTQ identity in the military, Institute of Politics Fellows co-chairs Emily Hall and Jason Ge wrote in an announcement posted Wednesday.

"We welcome the breadth of thought-provoking viewpoints on race, gender, politics and the media," Bill Delahunt, IOP acting director, said in the announcement.

Manning, a former Army intelligence analyst, was convicted in 2013 for leaking a huge cache of classified and sensitive documents. She was sentenced to 35 years in prison after a military judge found her guilty of six Espionage Act violations and multiple other charges relating to the dissemination of more than 700,000 classified military and State Department documents to WikiLeaks.

Manning was acquitted on the most serious charge of aiding the enemy.

Idlib: massing ex-ISIS and a mysterious assassination
Former ISIS militants mass in Idlib to slip across the border into Turkey

[AlMasdar] According to a report by The Guardian, hundreds of ISIS defectors have made it from Syria across the heavily patrolled Ottoman Turkish border after paying smugglers upwards of 2,000$ for completing their journey.

With the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
imploding from all sides territorially, imported muscle whom once swore alligence to His Supreme Immensity, Caliph of the Faithful and Galactic Overlord, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi
...formerly merely the head of ISIL and a veteran of the Bagram jailhouse. Looks like a new messiah to bajillions of Moslems, like just another dead-eyed mass murder to the rest of us...
have begun massing in Idlib province and eventually hope to find their back to various home countries in the Middle East, North Africa and Europe.

For instance, The Guardian stressed that four Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
n Death Eaters arrived in southern The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
in early September. Abu Saad, a Saudi national who also fled Syria but in late August, told the Guardian that as many as 300 former ISIS members, many of them Saudis, have established a community north of Idlib city, which is now dominated by Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS/Syrian al-Qaeda).

In recent months, HTS has cracked down on ISIS sleeper cells and rival rebel groups. Effectively, many former ISIS members no longer feel safe in Idlib province.

ISIS has not had an organised presence in the governorate since early 2014 when it was ousted by a rebel assault that saw its members flee to eastern and northern Syria.

Senior jihadi commander assassinated in Syria’s Idlib

[AlMasdar] A high-ranking commander of the Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham was mysteriously assassinated in the northwestern province of Idlib as tensions rise amongst the jihadi group.

Abu Mohammed al-Sharie, a Saudi national who holds a senior position in HTS, was left dead with a bullet in his head in the city of Saraqib, located to the east of the historic provincial capital.

This comes two days after the notorious Saudi holy man Abdullah al-Muhaysini resigned as the group’s religious judge, citing transgressions against its Shariah Committee and his being unable to change "errors" he witnessed and bloodshed and infighting.

Following the resignation, several factions affiliated with the al-Qaeda-linked organization defected, marking a mass blow to what is widely considered the strongest and most well-organized rebel group in the war-torn Syria.

The Grand Turk
ISIS defectors flee to southern Turkey as the group suffers in Syria
[AlMasdar] Hundreds of bandidos forces of Evil who have defected from the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. have crossed the borders to southern The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
as a first step to return to their countries in the Middle East, North Africa and Europe.

Local sources reported dozens of the former ultraconservative bandidos forces of Evil now rallying in several towns and villages in southern Turkey after making it through the borders.

The same sources confirmed that 4 Saudi Death Eater bandidos forces of Evil have arrived at a little village in southern Turkey after paying $2000 each to smugglers.

Throughout the year, the Ottoman Turkish border guards have rubbed out scores ‐ both civilians and fighters ‐ while trying to cross the borders into Turkey.

The massive escape comes as the self-proclaimed Islamic State is increasingly losing more grounds to the Syrian Army and allied forces in central and Eastern Syria.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
More Syrian Army T-90 battle tanks sent to west Aleppo
[AlMasdar] The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) continues to reinforce western Aleppo Governorate with armored forces; among such units can be found ever-increasing numbers of modern Russian-built T-90 main battle tanks.

Footage has been released by pro-government media showing the daily duties of an SAA T-90 tank crew who reportedly change their firing position on a regular basis in order to reduce the chance of their being hit by missiles from rebel anti-tank teams.

Often it was the case in the past that Syrian Army armor was wastefully knocked out by rebel anti-tank teams due to a given tank remaining static behind a set position for days on end, giving turban scouts time to identify its location, move an anti-tank missile launcher (such as the American-built TOW system) into firing range and engage it.

That such high-quality combat vehicles are being moved towards the west Aleppo front by the SAA also begs the question of whether or not army forces are planning an offensive operation in this region of Syria at some point in the near future.

China-Japan-Koreas
China Sold Trucks Used With North Korean Missiles
[Free Beacon] Chinese military support to North Korea's missile programs included transfers of rocket transporters, according to a new report by a United Nations panel of experts.

The report by the expert panel of the UN Security Council identified Chinese-origin trucks shown in a military parade last April carrying China's new KN-11 submarine-launched ballistic missile.

"The trucks carried the ’Sinotruk' logo on the fuel tank and shared some identical features with the Sinotruk Howo 6×6 series trucks shown at the 10 October 2015 military parade," the report said.

It is the second significant transfer of strategic missile technology from China identified by the panel.

In June 2013 the panel revealed the sale by China in 2011 of six to eight transporter erector launchers, known as TELs, that are now part of North Korea's first road-mobile intercontinental ballistic missile system, the KN-08.

China claimed the KN-08 TEL vehicles were sold as lumber haulers. However, analysts said the 16-wheel launchers are too wide for logging roads. The launchers are made by the Sanjiang Special Truck Co. of the China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation (CASIC).

An earlier UN report in April said Chinese electronic components were found in debris of a North Korean missile test that landed in the Sea of Japan in 2016.

The latest disclosure on Chinese military assistance to North Korea comes amid reports the regime of Kim Jong Un is rapidly developing long-range nuclear missiles while stepping up threats to fire them at American cities and territory.

Rep. Robert Pittenger (R., N.C.) said the report on Chinese support shows that China has not been a good faith partner to the United States on North Korea.

Of Course Hillary Clinton Identifies with Cersei Lannister
h/t Instapundit
What's the difference between Game of Thrones character Cersei Lannister and failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton? One is an entitled narcissist who quietly supported her lecherous husband (whom she clearly loathed) when it was politically convenient, then insisted it was her turn to rule (even though it wasn't), chose boot-lickers, ass-kissers, and elitist bankers as her advisors while alienating more competent and better-liked people who might have helped her, exacted petty vengeance on imagined enemies, escaped justice and the judgment of the people by destroying her main rival‐the charismatic, income-inequality obsessed populist‐with an explosive cheat, and was left confused why so many people in her country would rather be ruled by a complete political unknown who tells it like it is.

The other fucks her twin brother.

It comes as little surprise Clinton identifies with the mad queen. In What Happened, her new book about losing the presidential election to Donald Trump, Clinton writes:

Crowds at Trump rallies called for my imprisonment more times than I can count. They shouted, 'Guilty! Guilty!' like the religious zealots in Game of Thrones chanting 'Shame! Shame!' while Cersei Lannister walked back to the Red Keep."

Assuming this reference is genuine‐and not something ham-fistedly inserted into the book by a culturally-woke ghostwriter‐it's actually a bit revealing. It's true that Cersei is a tragic, occasionally sympathetic figure. But she's also one of the villains of the story: a manifestly incompetent ruler whose greatest talent is hurting every person who crosses her. She doesn't represent any ideology or philosophy beyond naked self-promotion. More than any other claimant for the Iron Throne of Westeros, she wants to rule because she believes it is her turn.

That Clinton would actively invite readers to make this comparison is, um, probably a partial answer to the question asked by the book's title. What happened? Nobody wants to vote for a Cersei.

Fearing Russia, Sweden holds biggest war games in 20 years
GOTHENBURG, Sweden (Reuters) - Neutral Sweden has launched its biggest war games in two decades with support from NATO countries, drilling 19,000 troops after years of spending cuts that have left the country fearful of Russia’s growing military strength.

On the eve of Russia’s biggest maneuvers since 2013, which NATO says will be greater than the 13,000 troops Moscow says are involved, Sweden will simulate an attack from the east on the Baltic island of Gotland, near the Swedish mainland.

"The security situation has taken a turn for the worse," Micael Byden, the commander of the Swedish Armed Forces, said during a presentation of the three-week-long exercise.

Sweden, like the Baltics, Poland and much of the West, has been deeply troubled by Russia’s 2014 annexation of Ukraine’s Black Sea peninsula Crimea and its support for rebels in eastern Ukraine.

"Russia is the country that affects security in Europe right now with its actions - the annexation of the Crimea and continued battles in eastern Ukraine - so it is clear that we are watching very closely what Russia is doing," Byden said.

Wall Street hits record high - without help from Apple
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Wall Street edged up to a record high on Wednesday as gains in consumer discretionary and energy stocks offset losses in technology heavyweight Apple Inc.

Shares of Apple (AAPL.O) dropped 0.8 percent on concerns that the company’s newly launched iPhone X is too expensive and because its availability starting in November was later than expected. With the widely held stock up 37 percent so far this year, some analysts said it was time to cash in gains.

"Apple to a certain extent is a ’sell the news’ event," said Art Hogan, chief market strategist at Wunderlich Securities in New York. "A great deal of expectation has been built into the stock."

Even with Apple’s losses, the S&P 500, Dow Jones industrial average and the Nasdaq all closed at record levels, helped by other consumer stocks.

The S&P energy index .SPNY rose after the International Energy Agency said that a global surplus of crude was starting to shrink.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average .DJI rose rose 39.32 points, or 0.18 percent, to 22,158.18 The S&P 500 .SPX edged upgained 1.89 points, or 0.08 percent, to 2,498.37, and the Nasdaq Composite .IXIC added 5.91 points, or 0.09 percent, to 6,460.19.

The indexes have hit several records this year, despite setbacks caused by turmoil in the White House, the timing of U.S. interest rate hikes, doubts about President Donald Trump’s ability to push through his pro-business reforms, and lately, tensions over a nuclear-weapons-capable North Korea.

The S&P 500, up 11.6 percent in 2017, is trading at 17.6 times expected earnings, expensive compared with its 10-year average of 14.3, according to Thomson Reuters Datastream.

Judge orders Maryland bar to investigate lawyers who helped Clinton delete emails
[Wash Times] ANNAPOLIS, Md. ‐ A Maryland judge ordered the state bar to open an investigation to nowhere Monday into the three lawyers who helped former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton delete her private emails.

Anne Arundel County Circuit Court Judge Paul F. Harris Jr. said the complaints lodged against David E. Kendall, Cheryl Mills and Heather Samuelson were egregious and the state bar couldn’t dismiss them as frivolous.

"There are allegations of destroying evidence," Judge Harris said at a hearing Monday morning.

He said the state’s rules require the bar to conduct investigations no matter who raises the complaint and can’t brush aside accusations.

The judge made the announcement a day before Mrs. Clinton releases her latest book, "What Happened," and begins a monthslong book tour attempting to explain how she lost an election she thought she had secured.

A new warning about the ‘Deep State'
Let us recall "shadow government" and "Deep State" ‐ two terms that riveted political observers and journalists earlier this year. Remember? Both terms ‐ along with variants such as "shadow White House" and "shadow presidency" ‐ were bandied about in the media with relish.

Dramatic coverage suggested that former members of the Obama administration or entrenched federal employees were still in place, ready to wield power from within the bureaucracy. A potential hazard to the Trump administration lurked, amplified by "fake" news, skewed polls and negative press narratives.

Even before President Trump took the presidential oath on Jan. 20, veteran political commentator Bill Moyers suggested newly defeated Hillary Clinton give her own inaugural address, advising Democrats to "prepare by joining together as a movement and creating the constituency of what will be, in effect, a shadow government." On Inauguration Day itself, GQ magazine advised,"Barack Obama is preparing for his third term."

Some continue to fret about a shadow presence. Still attuned to the Deep State and the existence of a shadow government, Judicial Watch recently issued a 64-page report on the phenomenon, which includes Freedom of Information Act requests, case studies and other research.

"We face a crisis of the Deep State ‐ ’Alt-government,’ I sometimes call it. The actions of the Deep State constitute a direct challenge to our republican form of government. Working primarily through the intelligence and law-enforcement agencies, the Deep State is actively engaged in subversive measures designed to delegitimize Donald Trump," Tom Fitton, president of the watchdog group, noted in a statement.

#1  No, we are not all "conspiracy theorists." Written in 2009, a short excerpt:

The religious intellectual Pierre Tihard de Chardin pointed out the overwhelming power that would be wielded by a group of brilliant thinkers dedicated to the cause of unrivaled global government. "He wrote "Nothing in the universe can resist the cumulative ardor of a significantly large number of enlightened minds working together in organized groups."

In the last half of the twentieth century and the beginning of the twenty-first, a new political power paradigm came into being. In place of highly visible leaders, we now have elected representatives who exert only limited control, while the real power resides in a separate group. The most powerful individuals who control our nations and our lives do their work behind the scenes. They are joined by current and retired political leaders who, along with certain wealthy and influential figures, form an open conspiracy to produce a new global government. Their goal is to replace all existing democratic governments.

Bill With Silencer Reform and Protections for Gun Owners Passes Committee
[Free Beacon] A bill that would reform silencer regulations and add certain protections for gun owners and hunters passed out of a committee in the House of Representatives on Wednesday.

H.R. 3668, known as the SHARE Act, passed through the House Committee on Natural Resources after hearings on it were held in the House Natural Resources Subcommittee on Federal Lands yesterday. The bill includes a number of gun reforms that gun-rights and hunting activists have been pursuing for years. Silencer deregulation, further protections for interstate transport of firearms, further protections on the importation of firearms and ammunition, further protections on certain firearms and ammunition from reclassification in order to make them illegal, and increased access to federal public lands for hunting and fishing are all included in the bill.

Susan Rice explains why she ‘unmasked' senior Trump officials
[NY Post] Ex-national security adviser Susan Rice privately told House investigators that she "unmasked" the identities of some senior Trump officials to learn why the crown prince of the United Arab Emirates was in New York late last year, CNN reported Wednesday, citing sources.

The New York sitdown ‐ which the Obama administration wasn’t told about ‐ came before a separate effort by the UAE to set up back-channel communications between Russia and the incoming Trump White House, the network said.

Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed al-Nahyan arrived in New York last December before Trump was sworn in for a meeting with several top Trump advisers, including Mike Flynn, Jared Kushner and top strategist Steve Bannon, sources said.

The Obama administration felt misled by the UAE, which had failed to tell them that Zayed was coming to the US, which is standard procedure for such visits.

Rice told the House Intelligence Committee last week that she asked for the names of the Americans mentioned in the classified report to be revealed internally, a practice officials in both parties say is common.

Trump later accused Rice of committing a crime.

But her explanation seemed to have satisfied some Republicans on the committee, and raised new questions about whether any Trump officials tried to arrange back-channel discussions with the Russians.

"I didn’t hear anything to believe that she did anything illegal," Florida Rep. Tom Rooney, a Republican helping to lead the panel’s Russia investigation, told CNN about Rice’s testimony.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Syrian regulars trying to encircle Deir Ezzor
DEIR EZZOR: After breaking a Daesh blockade, the Syrian regime’s army is seeking to encircle the remaining terrorist-held parts of Deir Ezzor city, a military source said Wednesday.

The city is the capital of oil-rich eastern Deir Ezzor province, regarded as a strategic prize by both Russian-backed Syrian regime troops and US-backed fighters.

In Damascus Wednesday, President Bashar Assad said the country was “advancing steadily toward victory thanks to the sacrifices of its army, the determination of its people and the support of its allies,” state news agency SANA said.

Last week, the Syrian regime army and allied fighters broke a yearslong Daesh siege of Deir Ezzor, entering two regime-held sections of the city that had been cut off from each other.

Since then, the army has brought reinforcements to the city and is seeking to oust Daesh from eastern neighborhoods that run along the Euphrates river, which slices diagonally through the province.

“The army is seeking to encircle Daesh from three sides by controlling the parts of the western bank of the Euphrates river,” the source told AFP.

Troops would target riverside territory on the city’s northwestern edges as well as strategic areas on its southern outskirts, including the key military airport and the village of Al-Jafra, on the banks of the Euphrates.

The operation seeks to “oust Daesh from the city and the province completely,” the military source said.

Rami Abdel Rahman, head of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitor, also reported that “fierce fighting has been ongoing since yesterday as the army seeks to expel the militants and reach the western bank of the Euphrates.”

If the army captures Al-Jafra, “Deir Ezzor will be encircled from three sides, so Daesh will have no way out except the Euphrates which is within firing range of regime artillery and Russian warplanes,” he added.

As the Syrian army backed by Russian air support battles Daesh in Deir Ezzor, a separate offensive by the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces is under way on the eastern side of the province.

The operation by the alliance of Kurdish and Arab fighters began over the weekend, but the SDF has said it was not coordinating the fight with the regime.

Airstrikes by Russian and US-led coalition warplanes in support of the separate offensives have killed dozens of civilians in recent days.

On Wednesday, the Observatory said suspected US-led coalition strikes on several parts of eastern Deir Ezzor province overnight and throughout the day killed 12 people.

On Tuesday, the monitor reported 35 people killed in Russian and US-led strikes on either side of the Euphrates.

More than 330,000 people have been killed in Syria since the conflict began in March 2011 with anti-regime protests.

Romania Seizes New Migrant Boat in Black Sea
[AnNahar] Romanian authorities said Wednesday they had rescued more than 150 migrants colonists in the Black Sea, the fifth such incident since August amid rising fears that a new migrant route to Europe
...also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
is opening up.

Authorities said 153 people including 53 children and 51 women, many from Iraq, had been on board the vessel when conditions turned choppy off Romania's eastern coast in the night from Tuesday to Wednesday.

"The sea had been very agitated, with waves of up three metres (9.8 feet). These people were in a very dangerous situation and risked either drowning or seeing their boat sink," Cristian Cicu, a front man for the Constanta coastguard, told AFP.

AFP journalists in the Romanian port of Midia witnessed the arrival of the migrants colonists who were then sent for medical examinations before being handed over to the immigration authorities.

EU member Romania is not part of the bloc's passport-free Schengen zone and until now has largely avoided the kind of influx of refugees and migrants colonists seen elsewhere on the continent over the last few years.

But Bucharest fears that the Black Sea could become an alternative route for migrants colonists seeking a new life in Europe as the dangerous journey across the Mediterranean becomes increasingly difficult, not least since Libya has sought to restrict charities carrying out rescue missions off its shores.

Until last month, only a handful of migrants colonists had been seized in the Black Sea since the migrant crisis erupted in the summer of 2015.

But there has been a noticeable rise over the past weeks, with some 570 intercepted between August and September.

Iraq
ISIS Big Turban smoked in airstrike near Hawija
Hawija (IraqiNews.com) An Iraqi air raid on Islamic State’s havens in southwestern Kirkuk killed the group’s chief “iinvestigator” and companions, intelligence sources said Wednesday.

Alsumaria News quoted the sources saying that Abu Omar al-Iraqi was killed when an Islamic State security unit was bombarded by Iraqi air forces in central Hawija, the group’s bastion in Kirkuk. Four of his companions were also killed in the raid, according to the sources.

The offensive prompted several fighters to leave their positions, the sources added.

The Iraqi government said late August that Hawija, which IS has held since 2014, was the next target of its operations against the extremist group. The government troops had, so far, recaptured Mosul, IS’s former capital, and the town of Tal Afar, west of Mosul.

On Sunday, Dubai-based Al Arabiya network many of Islamic State’s senior leaders had fled Hawija along with their families. It also said more than 15 U.S. army vehicles deployed at al-Farraj, a region 90 kilometers southeast of Mosul on the borders with Kirkuk, preparing to back up Iraqi forces in their anticipated offensives.

The United Nations had predicted at least 114.000 civilians to flee Hawija as the battle starts.

Last week, Yahia Rasoul, spokesperson of the Iraqi Joint Operations Command, said there were 2000 Islamic State militants inside Hawija.

ISIS Big Turban dies in Iraqi airstrike near Qaim

Anbar (IraqiNews.com) An Islamic State leader was killed in an air raid carried out by the U.S.-led Coalition jets, which targeted the group’s havens in western Anbar, a security source said.

“IS leader, known as Saddam Ahmed Karrati, was killed along with big number of militants in Qaim,” the source told Alghad Press on Wednesday.

In related news, three schools were shelled by coalition jets in Qaim, another source said.

“Aerial bombardment by Coalition jets targeted three schools in al-Karabla region,” the source added.

Moreover, the source said, “IS detained 200 persons from Qaim as families were trying to escape.

Earlier on the day, a convoy of 19 families, coming from Rutba, west of Anbar, reportedly arrived at Camp 18, located west of Ramadi, while twenty other families headed toward Rutba, after escaping IS.

Previous news reports on Wednesday said the militant group executed five young people in front of their families who had been caught fleeing town of Qaim, on Anbar’s western borders with Syria, towards the city of Rutba to the east.

Anbar’s western towns of Anah, Qaim and Rawa are still held by the extremist group since 2014, when it occupied one third of Iraq to proclaim a self-styled Islamic Caliphate. Iraqi troops were able to return life back to normal in the biggest cities of Anbar including Fallujah, Ramadi and others after recapturing them.

Fighter jets from the Iraqi army and the international coalition regularly pound IS locations in the province.

NORFOLK -- The Navy's four public shipyards, including Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth, are in such bad shape that they are not fully meeting the Navy's operational needs, the U.S. Government Accountability Office said in a sharply critical report released Tuesday.

"Navy data show that the cost of backlogged restoration and maintenance projects at the shipyards has grown by 41 percent over five years, to a Navy-estimated $4.86 billion, and will take at least 19 years (through fiscal year 2036) to clear," the GAO stated.

While the Navy committed to more capital investment and developed an improvement plan in 2013 to turn the situation around, "the shipyards' facilities and equipment remain in poor condition," according to the GAO, Congress' watchdog agency.

Russia Has a Destroyed Nuclear Submarine (Loaded with Nukes) Lying at the Bottom of the Sea
[The National Interest] Only four men had been killed in the incident so far, but after the submarine sank many men succumbed to the thirty-six-degree (Fahrenheit) water temperatures. After an hour the fishing boats Alexi Khlobystov and Oma arrived and rescued thirty men, some of whom later succumbed to their injuries. Of the original sixty-nine men on board the submarine when disaster struck, forty-two died, including Captain First Rank Vanin.

In the mid-1980s, the Soviet Union constructed a super submarine unlike any other. Fast and capable of astounding depths for a combat submersible, the submarine Komsomolets was introduced in 1984, heralded as a new direction for the Soviet Navy.

Five years later, Komsomolets and its nuclear weapons were on the bottom of the ocean, two-thirds of its crew killed by what was considered yet another example of Soviet incompetence.

The history of the Komsomolets goes as far back as 1966. A team at the Rubin Design Bureau under N. A. Klimov and head designer Y. N. Kormilitsin was instructed to begin research into a Project 685, a deep-diving submarine. The research effort dragged on for eight years, likely due to a lack of a suitable metal that could withstand the immense pressures of the deep. In 1974, however, the double-hulled design was completed, with a titanium alloy chosen for the inner hull.

Project 685, also known as K-278, was to be a prototype boat to test future deep-diving Soviet submarines. The Sevmash shipyard began construction on April 22, 1978 and the ship was officially completed on May 30, 1983. The difficulty in machining titanium contributed to the unusually long construction period.

K-278 was 360 feet long and forty feet wide, with the inner hull approximately twenty-four feet wide. It had a submerged displacement of 6,500 tons, and the use of titanium instead of steel made it notably lighter. It had a unique double hull, with the inner hull made of titanium, that gave it its deep-diving capability. The inner hull was further divided into seven compartments, two of which were reinforced to create a safe zone for the crew, and an escape capsule was built into the sail to allow the crew to abandon ship while submerged at depths of up to 1,500 meters.

Who is winning the war in Philippine’s Marawi city?
[DAWN] A war veteran once said: "Nobody wins in a war. They lost but we didn’t win." This is the reality of war ‐ a didacticism that our leaders should not overlook.

This comes to mind as the battle for Marawi city winds down.

According to the army, only about 40 bandidos Lions of Islam are trapped in an area of less than 500 square metres and are making their last stand in three mosques, the biggest of which is the Bato Mosque, a huge edifice more of a fort than a place of worship because of its dungeons, tunnels and caves.

's Defence Housing Authority area (DHA) after they were accused of criminally assaulting the girl, officials said.

The 16-year-old, a resident of Qayyumabad
...a suburb of Korangi Town, if you know where that is...
, was allegedly beaten and tortured by her employers with a hot iron on Tuesday when they suspected her of stealing from their home and being a bad influence on their four-year-old daughter, police said.

Darakhshan Station House Officer Aurangzeb Khattak claimed the girl "suffered iron-inflicted torture by her employers".

Following the incident, the girl was admitted to Civil Hospital Burns Unit for treatment.

She could not be medically examined on Wednesday as there was no female medico-legal officer available, Senior Superintendent Police South Javed Akbar Riaz said, adding her examination would take place on Thursday.

Additional Police Surgeon Dr Qarar Ahmed Abbasi was able to confirm, however, that the teenager had sustained burn wounds on her face and her hair had been chopped off.

Police have arrested a couple ─ her employers ─ and three others after her father registered a first information report (FIR) under sections 324 (attempt to commit willful murder) and 337 (shajjah) of the Pakistain Penal Code.

India submits pleadings to ICJ in spy Jadhav's case
[DAWN] India's Foreign Ministry on Wednesday confirmed the country had submitted its written pleadings to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in the case of Indian spy Kulbhushan Jadhav who was jugged
Don't shoot, coppers! I'm comin' out!
by Pakistain in 2016.

In May 2017, India moved the UN's top court against Pakistain after Jadhav ─ accused of espionage activities in Pakistain ─ was sentenced to death by a Field General Court Martial (FGCM).

India accused Pakistain of violating the Vienna Convention by denying consular access to Jadhav and requested the ICJ to ensure that Jadhav's death sentence is suspended. It also alleged that it was "not informed of Jadhav’s detention until long after his arrest," and learned about his death sentence through the media.

During a hearing at the ICJ on May 15, the court stayed Jadhav's execution. "Pakistain should take all measures to ensure that Mr Jadhav is not executed till the final decision of this court," the court had ruled.

the Taliban group front man Qari Yousuf Ahmadi, reacted at the reports and said the enemies of the group are attempting to defame them as they are in panic and have been defeated despite receiving support from the US forces in the ground and from the air.

He also pointed out towards the accusations emerged from southern Uruzgan province of Afghanistan suggesting the abuse of a young boy by the Taliban forces of Evil in Chora district.

This comes as the Taliban forces of Evil are often accused of abusing the young men among their ranks and numerous such reports have emerged suggesting the rape of the jacket wallahs before they are sent for the attacks as claimed by the Afghan intelligence.

Power-mongers on the verge of losing influence, claims Hekmatyar
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The leader of Hezb-e-Islami Gulbuddin Hekmatyar
... who used to be known in intelligence circles as The Most Evil Man in the World but who now seems merely run-of-the-mill evil...
once again harshly criticized certain political influential figures, those figures he believes have gained the power with the support of the outsiders.

Speaking to tribal elders from Chahar Asiab district of Kabul, Hekmatyar said "Certain people who supported Soviets and now supporting NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. It's headquartered in Belgium. That sez it all....
are calling themselves Mujahideen and misuse the word of Jihad to compromise with the rights of the oppressed people."

He did not specify any of the individuals in power but the latest remarks by Hekmatyar came as tensions are on the rise among his party and other influential political parties and figures, specifically the Jamaat-e-Islami
...The Islamic Society, founded in 1941 in Lahore by Maulana Sayyid Abul Ala Maududi, aka The Great Apostosizer. The Jamaat opposed the independence of Bangladesh but has operated an independent branch there since 1975. It maintains close ties with international Mohammedan groups such as the Moslem Brotherhood. the Taliban, and al-Qaeda. The Jamaat's objectives are the establishment of a pure Islamic state, governed by Sharia law. It is distinguished by its xenophobia, and its opposition to Westernization, capitalism, socialism, secularism, and liberalist social mores...
led by Ata Mohamad Noor.

In the meantime, Hekmatyar said an end to occupation, ethnic divisions, and grabbing will help to end the ongoing violence and conflict in the country.

The leader of Hezb-e-Islami further added that those who have gained power with the outside support, their influence is on the verge of being wiped out, claiming that the nation has identified them and will no more support them.

Girl strapped with bomb kills 5 in Cameroon mosque
[Ynet] A girl with a bomb strapped to her walked into a mosque in northern Cameroon
...a long, narrow country that fills the space between Nigeria and Chad on the northeast, CAR to the southeast. Prior to incursions by Boko Haram nothing ever happened there...

The girl of 12 or 13 years old arrived at the Sanda-Wadjiri mosque in remote Kolofata at the first call to prayer at between five and six am, the governor of Cameroon's Far North region Midjiyawa Bakary told Rooters by telephone.

"The men were bowed in prayer when she came," Bakary said. "Five of the worshippers were killed and the bomber also."

Arabia
Houthis imposing demands for continued alliance
Aden- Houthis have taken new restrictive steps against former Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh, including putting new conditions for the continuity of coalition with him, Yemeni sources revealed to Asharq Al-Awsat.

Conditions consist of Saleh not holding any events, handing out some camps and approving their latest decisions.

Sources, which preferred to remain anonymous, said that Saleh al-Sammad, the chief of the so-called Supreme Political Council, summoned on Tuesday General People’s Congress general-secretary Aref al-Zoka and informed him of the Houthis’ demands so that he conveys them to the former president.

The delivered messaged included the following demand: the party not organizing any events, and considering its latest event in Al Sabeen Square the final one.

These developments coincide with a period of constant meetings for Saleh’s party (General People’s Congress) to face the updates. Also, the pro-Saleh political council held a joint meeting among leaders in the insurgent government.

In a statement, the council expressed sorrow for the deterioration in the relation between Saleh and Houthis. “Unfortunately, the General People’s Congress faced huge challenges in the sake of preserving the partnership based on previously signed deals,” added the statement.

The pro-Saleh General People’s Congress affirmed that “despite the keenness showed by the congress and allies to overcome disputes via dialogues and constant understandings, unfortunately, the breach of all partnership regulations continued.”

The statement added that “the strange thing is the planned political and media attack against the General People’s Congress represented in its leader Ali Abdullah Saleh… This campaign escalated through the mobilization and provoking even by private mass media not to mention in mosques, festivals and social media.”

Three Italians die after falling into hole at volcano
[DAWN] An Italian couple and their 11-year-old son were killed on Tuesday when a hole opened up in the ground at a bubbling volcanic crater near Naples, a popular tourist site.

Italia’s fire brigade said it pulled three dead bodies from a shallow hole in a section of the crater at the Solfatara volcano, which was surrounded by a wooden fence meant to keep tourists out.

The victims were a 45-year-old man, a 42-year-old woman and their son. Another seven-year-old son did not fall into the hole and was unharmed, national fire brigade front man Luca Cari said.

"Either there was a small kaboom, or the ground simply gave way from their weight, and they fell into this hole," Cari said. "It was inside a fenced-off area."

Firemen on the scene said the three victims, who were on holiday from northern Italia, appeared to have died from asphyxia, possibly because of hot gases emanating from the ground. The official cause of death will be determined by an autopsy.

The Solfatara volcano is one of many volcanic craters in the Campi Flegrei area, 20 kilometres west of Naples, which first opened up to tourists in 1900, according to its website.

Police brutality
[DAWN] TO gauge which sector of society has any power, it can be instructive to witness the attitude of the police towards them. On Tuesday, law-enforcement personnel meted out brutal and humiliating treatment to a large number of teachers staging a demonstration outside the Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
Press Club for non-payment of their salaries since 2012. According to the protesters, 7,500 teachers are affected but the government has persistently turned a deaf ear to their pleas. The participants, including some women, who belonged to Karachi and several other districts of Sindh, were not taking the law into their own hands and damaging property or posing a threat to people. In fact, they were doing nothing more menacing than holding placards demanding that the government release the teachers’ long-standing dues and salaries. The police, however, in a wholly disproportionate and ham-fisted response, resorted to baton charge and water cannons to disperse them. The images that emerged from that encounter are disgraceful, showing teachers manhandled, dragged by their legs, with their clothes ripped.

Police in this country at various times have unleashed brute force on different segments of the population seeking their rights, even when the people have done so through means compatible with democracy. Their reaction in this instance as well violates the inherent right of the public to agitate for their rights peacefully. Law-enforcement personnel, however, have not even spared Lady Health Workers demanding overdue salaries; nor even blind people pressing for employment rights under the disability quota. In the present instance, regardless of whether there were irregularities committed in the teachers’ recruitment ‐ and certainly the education department has been no slouch in violating the rules ‐ the Sindh government must find a way to address the genuine concerns of the protesting teachers. They should not have to pay the price for the dereliction of duty by the authorities concerned. Meanwhile,
...back at the Hubba Hubba Club, Nunzio wondered: Where the hell was Chumbaloni? And where was his $600?...
such reprehensible behaviour on the part of the police merely reinforces the image of them as an insensitive force without empathy for the public.

Ansarul Sharia to be banned soon, says Ahsan Iqbal
[DAWN] Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal on Wednesday revealed that the government has decided to place a ban on bully boy group Ansarul Sharia Pakistain (ASP).

Iqbal, addressing the Senate Standing Committee on Interior, said that a leader of the group and four of its main members have been incarcerated
You have the right to remain silent...
and expressed hope that soon, ASP's entire network would be taken down.

The minister said that efforts were underway to track down other members of the group, adding that arrests would soon be made.

Iqbal added that Director General (DG) Rangers Muhammad Saeed had provided a briefing in relation to the group.

"No group or party will be permitted to engage in provocative actions."

ASP has been linked to the attack on MQM-P leader Khawaja Izharul Hassan which took place on the first day of Eidul Azha in Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
. Hassan, who is the leader of the opposition in the Sindh Assembly, escaped unhurt.

The ASP has been active since at least February when its members bumped off a guard of Police Foundation in an attack in Gulistan-e-Jauhar.

In April, they claimed the responsibility for killing a retired colonel in the Baloch Colony area.

At least 7 coppers have been killed up till now in attacks carried out by the group in Karachi's SITE, Bahadurabad, Azizabad, Northern Bypass and Gulistan-e-Jauhar areas.

Earlier this month, Dawn reported that the the Al Qaeda-inspired bully boy group ─ comprising hardly 10 fighters ─ has been busted with almost all its members taken into custody and being interrogated.

Roadside bomb defused in southern Thailand
Thai security officers successfully defused a roadside bomb planted under a power pole in Narathiwat’s Sungai Padi district. The bomb was believed to have been intended to be detonated as a team of defense volunteers patroled the area in the afternoon.

The bomb in a 20-kilogram cooking cylinder placed in a green plastic bag was discovered on Wednesday morning in Tambon Paluru. The ordnance disposal team defused the bomb by shooting water from a high-pressure hose at a its radio-triggered detonator, while a device scrambled radio signals. They later disassembled the bomb and handed over the components to forensic officers and police investigators.

Pongsathorn Sonjit, who led the six-man patrol, said the team had been traveling on three motorcycles returning from protecting teachers when they spotted the bag under the power pole and alerted authorities.

South Africa's Richest Man Calls President Zuma's Policy ‘Theft'
[Bloomberg] South Africa’s richest man Johann Rupert said "radical economic transformation," the policy championed by the country’s President Jacob Zuma to reduce racial inequality, is no more than theft.

"Radical economic transformation is just a code word for theft," Rupert said on the sidelines of Richemont’s annual general meeting in Geneva on Wednesday. "That’s what’s happening there. They’re raiding the state’s coffers. And it’s public knowledge."
Tribal kaffir officials loot treasury? Who knew ?
South Africa’s former graft ombudsman alleged in a November report that Zuma allowed members of the wealthy Gupta family, who are in business with his son, to influence cabinet appointments and the award of state contracts. And a study released in March by a team of academics concluded that Zuma, the Guptas and their allies had orchestrated "a silent coup," securing control over key positions in the state, enabling them to allegedly steal billions of rand. Zuma and the Guptas deny wrongdoing.

A trove of leaked emails dubbed the ’Gupta Leaks’ have formed the basis for a raft of stories by South African media that have alleged corruption linked to the Guptas and government officials.

Zuma’s spokesman Bongani Ngqulunga said he was in a meeting when called for comment.

Bell Pottinger LLP, the U.K. public-relations firm founded by an adviser to Margaret Thatcher lost clients and staff over its controversial work for the Gupta family in South Africa and was expelled from the U.K.’s PR trade body last week. It was slammed for stoking racial tensions by mounting a campaign targeting so-called white monopoly capital, and filed for administration on Tuesday. Its targets included Rupert, who has a net worth of $8.2 billion.

"They were hired to deflect attention from the public anger against what’s happening to the state’s finances," said Rupert. "That was their role."

US sent weapons to Syria through Ramstein military base
They wanted Barack Obama as president, so really, they oughtn't complain.
[DW] Washington's air base in southwestern Germany was used for a time to store and send weapons to Syrian rebels, according to the Suddeutsche Zeitung. If the report proves true, the US could have violated German law.

The US military has been using its massive air base in western Germany to arm rebel groups in Syria without Berlin's permission, according to a report from German newspaper Suddeutsche Zeitung published on Wednesday.

The US military may have violated German law with the alleged weapons transfers as the German government has not approved any weapons transports of this type since the conflict in Syria began in 2011.

Dutch Strip Four Jihadists of Citizenship
[AnNahar] The Netherlands has stripped four jihadist fighters of their Dutch nationality under tough new anti-terror legislation, a top minister announced Wednesday.

"These four persons have joined a terror organization in a conflict area," Safety and Justice Minister Stef Blok said in a statement.

"They have been declared undesirable aliens which means that it is no longer possible for them to travel to The Netherlands or any other Schengen country," Blok said, referring to Europe's passport-free zone.

Although Blok did not name the four men, Dutch media listed them as "known Syria travelers Driss B., Noureddin B., Anis Z. and Hatim R."

Driss B. and Noureddin B. were sentenced last year and Anis Z. and Hatim R. in 2015 to six years each in absentia for being members of a criminal terror organization.

The four had previously traveled to Syria to join jihadist fighters including the Islamic State group, local news reports said.

Their current whereabouts are unknown.

"This includes Driss B., who is doubted to still be alive," national news agency ANP reported.

The Netherlands in March approved tough new legislation that gives the government the power to take away citizenship, even if a person has not been convicted of a crime.

The law has been criticized by opposition parties including Prime Minister Mark Rutte's outgoing junior Labor coalition partner because it can only be applied to people with double nationality.

Wednesday's decision still has to be approved by a judge, the Dutch government said. It was not known what other nationality the four men hold.

Some 280 Dutch citizens are believed to have traveled to join jihadist groups in Syria and Iraq since 2011.

About 190 remain there but "there are probably still a number of Dutch jihadists who want to join the IS group or others in the Middle East," the Dutch anti-terror agency NCTV said in its latest report.

Although the country been spared from the wave of attacks that has hit some of its neighbors such as Belgium, La Belle France and Germany as well as other countries "jihadists regard The Netherlands as a legitimate target," the NCTV said.
The Times of Israel adds:
Speaking to reporters at the Dutch Parliament, Blok says they all were dual Dutch-Moroccan nationals.

US bans government use of software from Russian firm Kaspersky
[AlAhram] The US government banned the use of Kaspersky security software in federal offices Wednesday, saying the Russian company has risky ties to Russian intelligence that threaten US national security.

Acting Secretary of Homeland Security Elaine Duke ordered all government offices to remove and replace any of the company's popular anti-hacker software in use within 90 days.

"The department is concerned about the ties between certain Kaspersky officials and Russian intelligence and other government agencies," Duke said in a statement.

She also expressed concern
...meaning the brow was mildly wrinkled, the eyebrows drawn slightly together, and a thoughtful expression assumed, not that anything was actually done or indeed that any thought was actually expended...
that Russian intelligence agencies can by law request or compel assistance from Kaspersky, including in intercepting communications transiting Russian networks.

"The risk that the Russian government, whether acting on its own or in collaboration with Kaspersky, could capitalize on access provided by Kaspersky products to compromise federal information and information systems directly implicates US national security," Duke said.

The move comes amid heightened strains between Russia and the US over Moscow's alleged interference in last year's US presidential election.

Kaspersky was already finding the government shut to its business, according to US companies it competes with.

Earlier this year six top intelligence and security officials told a Congressional hearing that they would not use Kaspersky software.

In July the government's General Services Administration issued an advisory against using it.

Last week Senator Jeanne Shaheen said she would attach to a crucial defense department appropriations bill a law banning government use of Kaspersky products.

Based in Moscow, Kaspersky has been selling its popular and highly regarded software around the world for two decade and does 85 percent of its business outside of Russia, including with multiple governments, according to the company.

It has repeatedly denied having anything more than business ties to the Kremlin.

"Kaspersky Lab doesn't have inappropriate ties with any government, which is why no credible evidence has been presented publicly by anyone or any organization to back up the false allegations made against the company," the company told AFP in an email.

"The only conclusion seems to be that Kaspersky Lab, a private company, is caught in the middle of a geopolitical fight, and it's being treated unfairly even though the company has never helped, nor will help, any government in the world with its cyberespionage or offensive cyber efforts."

Company founder and chief executive Eugene Kaspersky said he has repeatedly offered to present the company's source code to US officials for an audit, but has not been given the opportunity to do so.

Attempted stabbing thwarted near Hebron, attacker shot
[IsraelTimes] No injuries to Israeli forces or civilians in West Bank attack at entrance of Kiryat Arba, terrorist seriously maimed.

A Paleostinian man tried to carry out a stabbing attack on Wednesday at a bus stop at the entrance to the Kiryat Arba settlement before being shot and maimed, the IDF said.

The military said the man ran toward a bus stop at the Elias Junction brandishing a knife. He was spotted by troops who opened fire, injuring him.

No Israeli civilians or soldiers were maimed, the army said, adding that he was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Hebrew media reports said he was in a serious condition.

Kiryat Arba is adjacent to the divided West Bank city of Hebron.

The attack came a day after Border Police officers tossed in the slammer

After being asked by police to lift his shirt ‐ where he was hiding the knife ‐ as he passed through a checkpoint near the city’s Tomb of the Patriarch’s holy site, the 15-year-old pulled the knife on the officers, who in turn aimed their weapons at him, a police spokeswoman said.

The teenager was then arrested by Border Police and taken for further questioning by security forces, the police spokeswoman said, adding that no shots were fired during the arrest.

Police said they were looking into the teenager’s motive.

On Friday, a Paleostinian man in his twenties was arrested in Hebron when he was discovered to be hiding a knife on his person, while last Wednesday Border Police officers arrested a Paleostinian teenager in the West Bank city after finding a knife in his possession.

Both of those incidents also took place at checkpoints near the Tomb of the Patriarchs.

Afghanistan
Pakistani PM says open to joint patrol with Afghanistan amid US pressures
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The Pak Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has said Pakistain is open to joint border patrols with the Afghan forces amid persistent US pressures on Pakistain regarding the terror safe havens often blamed for the major attacks in Afghanistan.

Abbasi made the remarks during a presser with the news hounds on Tuesday, claiming that Pakistain does not provide safe havens to the terror groups.

But the Afghan officials and US authorities have long been insisting that the leadership councils of the Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
and Haqqani terrorist network are based in the key cities of Pakistain where they have freedom of action.

Claiming that Pakistain has suffered massively from the instability in Afghanistan, PM Abbasi said the country is open to join patrols along the border as he insisted that the fencing work will continue and Islamabad would welcome a similar move by Kabul.

Regarding the US pressures, PM Abbasi said Islamabad has not received any specific demands from US, promising that the country would take steps regarding any information they receive.

The US President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
last month announced the new US strategy as he strongly criticized Pakistain regarding the terror sanctuaries, saying "For its part, Pakistain often gives safe haven to agents of chaos, violence, and terror. The threat is worse because Pakistain and India are two nuclear-armed states whose tense relations threaten to spiral into conflict. And that could happen."

He said the next pillar of the new strategy is to change the approach and how to deal with Pakistain, emphasizing that we can no longer be silent about Pakistain’s safe havens for terrorist organizations, the Taliban, and other groups that pose a threat to the region and beyond, emphasizing that Pakistain has much to gain from partnering with our effort in Afghanistan. It has much to lose by continuing to harbor criminals and terrorists.

Karachi 'honour killing': Exhumed bodies of teenage couple bear electrocution, torture marks
[DAWN] The bodies of a teenage couple in Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
feared to have been murdered by their families after they wished to contract a free-will marriage were found bearing electrocution and torture marks following a post-mortem examination on Wednesday, officials said.

The bodies of the girl (15), and the boy (17), were exhumed from the Mauladad graveyard in Sherpao Colony in the presence of Azhar Ali Kalhoro, a judicial magistrate, and a team of doctors and police officials.

Civil Hospital Karachi Additional Police Surgeon Dr Qarar Ahmed Abbasi confirmed that "there were visible signs of electric shock and torture on both bodies."

Shah Latif Town Police Investigating Officer (IO) Ghulam Asghar Sheikh told Dawn that the girl and boy fled their homes on Aug 14 and stayed at the home of a relative in Sherpao Colony as they intended to marry of their own will. The relative, however, informed the parents of both victims, who then took them away.

After the development, a 30-35 person jirga was held, presided over by a local tribal elder identified as Sartaj, the IO said.

Following the jirga, the girl was electrocuted at around 11pm on Aug 15, while the boy was electrocuted around 3am on Aug 16, the IO added.

Police got wind of the case through an informant and subsequently filed a first information report on behalf of the state, after which four accused ─ the fathers and uncles of the victims ─ were locked away
Youse'll never take me alive coppers!... [BANG!]... Ow!... I quit!
on Aug 21.

IO Sheikh said the accused, who had confessed to the crime, claimed to repent killing the children, alleging they were under the pressure of the jirga which urged them to murder the pair in order to to protect the 'honour' of their tribe.

#1  Fine. Hang the sadistic murderer and anyone in the Jirga who voted in favor of the "honour" killing. They can argue amongst themselves without food or water until they cough up the names of at least 51% of their members for hanging.

The rest can go spread the good word of what happened.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Thousands of Stranded Syrians Flee Border Camp near Jordan
[AnNahar] Syrian opposition activists and witnesses said Tuesday that several thousand Syrians stranded on the border with Jordan have fled one makeshift camp for another, running from shelling and nearby fighting between Syrian rebels and government forces.

A Jordanian official confirmed that residents of Hadalat camp in the remote desert of southeastern Syria "were moved." He spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss the issue with news hounds.

Fighting in southwestern Syria ebbed in recent weeks, after a cease-fire deal brokered by the U.S., Russia and Jordan in July. At the same time, Syrian government troops have been advancing in the southeast, close to the borders with Jordan and Iraq.

Rami Abdurrahman, who heads the Britannia-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, said Tuesday that civilians and armed rebels began leaving Hadalat at the beginning of September.

Syrian troops have been advancing in the southeast, "taking area after area," and Hadalat residents fled because government forces were getting closer, said Abdurrahman, whose group relies on a network of activists across Syria.

Hadalat had sheltered some 5,000 people, including relatives of rebels from two groups affiliated with the Free Syrian Army
... the more palatable version of the Syrian insurgency, heavily influenced by the Moslem Brüderbund...
, a Western-backed coalition fighting to overthrow Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Oppressor of the Syrians and the Lebs...
Rebel militias helped evacuate Hadalat's civilians, all of whom had fled by the end of last week, according to rebel officials and displaced residents.

Most civilians fled to the larger border camp of Rukban further to the east, with population estimates there ranging from the U.N's 45,000 to double that figure.

The number of displaced Syrians on Jordan's border had been rising since the kingdom began restricting entry in 2014. Residents of the tent camps on the border have endured severe hardships, including harsh weather and scarce food, water and medical aid.

Jordan closed the border formally in 2016, after an Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
boom-mobile launched from near Rukban killed seven Jordanian border guards.

Mohammed al-Adnan, a front man for the Tribal Army, a Jordan-backed Syrian militia, said Tuesday that all civilians had left Hadalat and that only some gunnies remained there.

A Hadalat resident said that after shelling increased, he paid $400 to get his family of six on a truck out of the camp.

"We paid everything we had to get out," the 41-year-old said from Rukban.

"If the people here at the Jordanian border don't die from bombs, they will die from hunger and thirst," he said, referring to the dire conditions in isolated Rukban, which is now struggling to absorb several thousand more people.

Another displaced Hadalat resident said his family of eight doesn't even have a tent in Rukban. "We don't have any of the basics for living," said the 39-year-old.

Both displaced residents spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of repercussions from Syrian authorities.

The U.N. refugee agency's attempts to deliver aid to the border camps from Jordan have been disrupted frequently since the 2016 border closure.

The agency's Jordan office said Tuesday that it will keep trying to deliver aid, but did not say how this might work at a time when front lines in the area are shifting.

Mohammad Darbas al-Khalidi, a local leader in Rukban, said no aid has reached the camp for three months. He said he believes camp residents are unlikely to return to government-controlled areas of Syria, even if the situation in Rukban worsens.

Liberated Syrian gas fields begin to pump fuel for first time in years

[AlMasdar] The liberated Al-Sha’er Gas Fields in the northeastern countryside of the Homs Governorate have begun to pump fuel again after being out of commission for several years due to war, a Syrian government source told Al-Masdar News this afternoon.

According to the government source, the Al-Sha’er gas fields are now pumping up to 1 million meters squared of fuel a day; thus, ending the fuel crisis that was plaguing Syria for years.

The Al-Sha’er Gas Fields were liberated from the so-called Islamic State (ISIL) forces by the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) earlier this year.

Europe
Afghan asylum seeker who raped and killed EU official's daughter had been trying to sell himself for sex with MEN
Another day, another exciting revelation as the trial continues.
[DailyMail] An Afghani asylum seeker who raped and murdered a German medical student tried to sell himself for sex with men in a gay bar hours before he launched his attack, a court heard.

Hussein Khavari is standing trial in the south-western German university city of Freiburg over the killing of 19-year-old Maria Ladenburger last October.

A court has been told that in the run-up to her death, Khavari went to a gay bar and tried to convince men to have sex with him for cash - even offering to drop the price when one declined.

According to German newspaper Bild, police officer Edgar P., who also appeared as a witness in the trial, said: 'He offered sexual services to one of the men on the gentlemen's toilet.'

He added that the person had rejected the offer even when Khavari lowered his price.

A bartender also told the court that Khavari did not appear to be 'the typical guest'.

On Monday, Khavari broke down and asked for forgiveness at his trial in Freiburg District Court,Germany.

Khavari wept as he recalled how he smoked hashish the night he ambushed 19-year-old, admitting that he raped her and drowned her in the knee-deep water of a nearby river.

It has also emerged that Khavari had been incarcerated
You have the right to remain silent...
and sentenced to ten years for attempted murder in Corfu in 2013 before coming to Germany seeking refuge in 2015.

Khavari threw a 20-year-old student 25 feet down a cliff on the island of Corfu in May 2013. The woman was severely injured but miraculously survived the ordeal.

Khavari did not report to parole officers after his early release from the Greek detention centre and authorities issued a search warrant for the Afghan migrant, but only in their own country.

German authorities criticised the Greeks for 'negligence', claiming that if they had known about Khavari’s past, he would have been flagged when he applied for asylum and not allowed into the country, which in turn could have prevented the grisly rape and murder of Ms Ladenburger.
And whose fault is it that Greece was overwhelmed by invaders just as they were forced by Germany to gut their economy to repay their debts?

Walking through the residential neighborhoods of Bethesda, where many of our managerial class luminaries live, it is common to see little brown men working the business end of a leaf blower. Over many years, I’ve never spotted a black working on one of these landscaping crews. In fact, I’ve never spotted a college boy doing this sort of work either. It is always Atahualpa and his men. Today, even the Conquistador Americans prefer to have Amerinds raking their lawns, rather than Americans.

The other thing I’ve noticed is that the housekeepers and nannies are never black or white. Instead, you see East Asian nannies and Mexican housekeepers. The housekeepers don’t look like Incas. They look like the Cholo girls, but paunchy and middle-aged. The nannies are mostly Koreans, but there is an increasing number of Chinese. The hunch here is the subconscious math of crime is at work. Asian women are considered the safest so they can be trusted with kids.

I have this theory that some of what drives this desire for Amerind labor and Asian servants is a weird manifestation of white guilt. A crew of blacks, singing spirituals, while raking leaves would set off mass panic is a place like Bethesda. A thick black women, kitted out like Mammy, dotting on the youngins, would probably kill the typical SWPL in Cloud Country. Ruling class whites simply have no will to face up to the reality of black America, so they systematically exclude it from their lives, with the use of foreigners.

This denial of reality also would explain the lack of whites working as domestics. There are plenty of unemployed white girls who could be trained to clean houses and tend to small children. The same is true for landscaping and residential work. The presence of working class whites, however, would fill the Cloud People with angst. It would be a daily reminder that for all but the grace of the void where God used to exist, that could be the life of the lady of the house. Who needs to be reminded of class reality in their own home!

I was reminded of this when I saw this Noah Millman post on the American Conservative website. It’s a post about the death of free speech in India, of all places. The idea that speech was ever open in India, or anywhere outside the English speaking world, is ludicrous on its face. It’s just another example of the blinkered universalism that prevents our elites from understanding much about the world. The point of the post is that free speech is under assault, even in bastions of liberalism like India.

I looked for his twitter feed, but came up empty. I was going to suggest he perform the same analysis on another foreign country, by delving into the tech giant’s efforts to suppress political speech in America. While the snake charmers and call center staffers in Tamil Nadu are important, most readers of Millman care more about what’s happening in civilization. Exactly nothing changes about the world if Indians lose whatever civil liberties they enjoy at the moment. It does matter if the lights go out in the West.

It is much easier to be pious and self-righteous about the world when you focus on problems beyond the horizon. You get to fret over the state of civil liberties in a place like India, without ever being expected to do anything about it. Of course, criticizing some foreign potentate brings no risk. Millman writing a broadside against the Washington Post’s proselytizing for Progressive causes risks future employment. Going after Google for sand-boxing alt-right videos is a bit too dangerous, so he focuses on the foreign.

This deliberate self-alienation by our elites is probably what drives their zeal for open borders. Those Cloud People in their seven figure homes don’t know any working class whites. They’ve never met a man who makes a living driving a truck or running a tow motor in a warehouse. They do know Garbonzo, the guy they see cutting their grass in the summer. Their kid’s Korean nanny, whose daughter plays the flute, is someone they know and bond with across class lines. The Dirt People, on the other hand, are strangers.

#2  The journalist community will have to be extra vigilant to ensure that the mischief in the latest draft does not raise its head again in the garb of a bill to ‘promote good journalism’.

I worry more about the mischief in our own press. We have freedom of the press but it is not absolute in that we have libel laws, sexual harassment laws, and laws against inciting riots. There is also a self-imposed censorship against publishing certain details about perps of crimes. Lately, we have cultural prohibitions rather than legal bars against speech and the press such as that odious notion of political correctness.

Greenfield: Carol Swain smeared as White Supremacist (!)
A reminder from Carol Swain, an African-American conservative, of just how malicious and dishonest the leftist hate group known as the Southern Poverty Law Center really is.

What landed me in the SPLC’s crosshairs was a Sept. 10, 2009, Huffington Post blog entry titled “Mission Creep and the Southern Poverty Law Center’s Misguided Focus.” I pointed out the SPLC’s silence about video footage released after the 2008 elections showing members of the New Black Panther Party, decked out in full paramilitary regalia, patrolling a polling precinct in Philadelphia where they were clearly intimidating white voters...

I ended my post with a one-liner that raised the ire of the organization and had a devastating effect on my life. I wrote: “Rather than monitoring hate groups, the Southern Poverty Law Center has become one.”

The SPLC’s retaliation was vicious and effective. On Oct. 17, 2009, my photo appeared on the front page of my local newspaper, the Tennessean, with the headline “ Carol Swain is an apologist for white supremacists.”

Like others targeted by the SPLC, Carol Swain experienced the consequences of the blacklist.

Being targeted by the SPLC has had a lasting impact on my life and career. Offers from other universities ended and speaking opportunities declined. Once you’ve been smeared in this way, mainstream news outlets are less likely to cite you as an expert of any kind.

Yet today I wear the SPLC’s mud as a badge of honor because I know I am in the company of many good men and women who have been similarly vilified for standing for righteousness and truth. Other SPLC targets have included Ben Carson (who eventually received an apology and retraction), Somali refugee Ayaan Hirsi Ali, terrorism expert Steve Emerson, political scientist Guenter Lewy (who successfully sued the SPLC), attorney Robert Muise, Frank Gaffney of the Center for Security Policy, and Princeton professor Robert P. George...

Some of those vilified by the SPLC have been subjected to even worse treatment. The Family Research Council and House Majority Whip Steve Scalise have been violently attacked by individuals inspired by the propaganda the SPLC regularly dishes out.

The SPLC is an ugly, hateful and sloppy organization that cashes in by claiming to fight extremism even as it practices it.

Man killed as Indian troops target civilians along Working Boundary, says ISPR
[DAWN] A man was killed on Wednesday in an incident of cross-border firing across the Working Boundary on Wednesday, according to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

"Indian troops initiated unprovoked ceasefire violations using mortars and automatics and targeted the innocent civilian population along [the] Working Boundary in [the] Phuklian sector," the ISPR said.

The Pakistain Rangers "effectively responded and targeted Indian posts firing on [the] civilian population," the statement added.

Muhammad Zahoor, a resident of Dewra village, was killed in the cross-border exchange of fire, ISPR said.

#1  Obviously a Paki news source. And you can always depend on Paki news. ( if you are blind and stupid, of course.)
Paki's lose wars and we all know how brave pack soldiers are. Bangla Desh proved that. 3 million dead in just eight months, most of them unarmed civilians. FACT. They lost the war and the Indian Army took the entire country in under two weeks.

The Indian Army don't have Moslem Values, of course. That might have something to do with it. The Mighty Pak Army is geared to RUN with its tongue hanging out and its eyeball dolling when anybody shoots back and the Moslems don't do so well when they face real men instead of women and children. The Pakis don't know what else to do except run when they aren't shooting into crowds of civilians. FACT.

Ever watched a film of Paks firing machine guns from trucks into crowds of fleeing civilian? They even filmed it while they killed Hindus. A lot like watching NAZI films except it was the Paki Moslems playing the Ubermensch and the Hindus playing the jews.

The pakistani Rangers...sounds like the "encounters" with their "shutter guns" again. We know how that works and the Clowns are next.

15,000 evacuated in Moscow after bomb threats
[IsraelTimes] Buildings emptied after two days of phone threats which prompted evacuation of 45,000 people nationwide. No bombs found.

More than 15,000 people were evacuated Wednesday from several shopping centres, universities and train stations in Moscow after a series of bomb threats, Russian media reported.

A source in the emergency services told state-run TASS news agency that over 30 prominent locations including the famed GUM shopping centre on Red Square were temporarily emptied after anonymous telephone threats.

Interfax news agency cited a source as saying that over 15,000 people around the sprawling city were evacuated.

Neither the emergency services in Moscow nor the police could immediately confirm the incidents to AFP.

A representative for GUM told AFP that employees had been allowed back inside the building.

The spate of threats came after two days of similar calls caused disruptions in cities across Russia, with the state-run RIA Novosti news service reporting some 45,000 people were evacuated nationwide.

No bombs were found at any of the locations.

Kremlin front man Dmitry Peskov on Wednesday said the country’s intelligence services were investigating the threats.

Europe
Germany deports 8 Afghans convicted various crimes including rape
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The government of Germany has deported a group of at least eight Afghans convicted of various crimes including rape incidents.

The minister of interior for Germany’s Bavaria state Joachim Herrmann informed regarding the expulsion of the Afghan asylum seekers to Kabul today.

According to Herrmann, the men were convicted of various crimes including rape incidents with at least two of them being involved in the assault.

This comes as Germany had stopped the deportation process of the failed asylum seekers nearly four months ago.

The decision to halt the process was apparently taken after a deadly kaboom rocked Kabul city late n May this year that left more than 150 people dead and hundreds more maimed.

Several other deadly kabooms also took place after the incident including a deadly attack on a funeral in the city few days later, forcing the majority of the European countries to halt the deportation of the asylum seekers.

Hundreds of thousands of Afghans left for Europe
...also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
last year amid deteriorating security situation in the country.

Scores of the migrants colonists bit the dust on the way to Europe by going through the most dangerous routes, including the Iranian land route and the Ottoman Turkish waters.

Germany started the deportation process of the rejected asylum seekers in mid-December last year amid reports that the country is due to send back 11,900 migrants colonists back to Afghanistan.

North Korea vows to boost weapons programmes after 'evil' UN sanctions
[DAWN] North Korea vowed on Wednesday to accelerate its weapons programmes in response to the "evil" sanctions imposed by the UN Security Council following its latest and most powerful nuclear test.

The respected 38 North website in the US raised its estimate for the yield from the kaboom, which Pyongyang says was a hydrogen bomb small enough to fit onto a missile, to around 250 kilotons ‐ more than 16 times the size of the device that devastated Hiroshima in 1945.

The detonation, Pyongyang's sixth nuclear blast, prompted global condemnation and came after it carried out two intercontinental ballistic missile launches in July that appeared to bring much of the US into range.

Afghanistan
Kabul police arrest 12 on charges of gun sex during the week of martyrs
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The Kabul police officials informed regarding the arrest of at least twelve people on charges of creating disturbances to the city residents by gun sexs during the week of deaders.

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) officials the Ministry of Interior informed regarding the arrest of the individuals on Tuesday.

The officials further added that the detained suspects were involved in gun sexs that sparked fear and disturbance among the city residents.

At least six weapons were also recovered from the detained individuals, the official said, adding that the suspects have been over to the relevant authorities for further steps to be taken against them.

According to the security officials, at least thirteen people sustained injuries from the stray bullets fired by the individuals to mark the week of deaders.

This comes as the Kabul residents have long been complaining regarding the gun sexs by irresponsible armed individuals on various occasions including the supporters of Ahmad Shah Massoud who celebrate the week of deaders and often carry out gun sexs.

The security institutions as well as the Ahmad Shah Massoud Foundation had earlier urged the people to refrain from gun sexs and causing disturbances to the residents of the city.

Judge Considers Defying Trump Over Arpaio Pardon
Although President Donald Trump has issued a full pardon to former Arizona sheriff Joe Arpaio, and his lawyers have filed a motion seeking to have his conviction thrown out as a result, District Court Judge Susan Bolton has so far refused to grant the motion, and is in fact considering requests before her that she deny it.

In papers lodged with her last week, it was argued that "The president can’t use the pardon power to immunize lawless officials from consequences for violating people’s constitutional rights." This contrasts with his lawyers’ arguments that "The president’s pardon moots the case, and it warrants an automatic vacatur of all opinions, judgments, and verdicts related to the criminal charge."

The Justice Department supports his position, telling the judge on Monday that "the government agrees that the Court should vacate all orders and dismiss the case as moot."

But although many commentators have argued that the President’s pardoning power is "unlimited," and some have even worried that he might issue blanket pardons to all those being investigated by Special Counsel Robert Mueller to frustrate the investigation, she is reviewing contrary legal arguments.

These counter arguments contend that the president’s constitutional power to issue pardons "is limited by later-enacted amendments, starting with the Bill of Rights. For example, were a president to announce that he planned to pardon all white defendants convicted of a certain crime but not all black defendants, that would conflict with the Fourteenth Amendment’s Equal Protection Clause."

#12  ...I'm not a lawyer, but the way I'm reading it is that Judge Bolton is under no requirement to vacate Sheriff Arpaio's conviction, and the President's pardon doesn't moot the case. It would be nice if it was vacated, but the bottom line is that although a pardon might "warrants an automatic vacatur of all opinions, judgments, and verdicts related to the criminal charge.", there's no legal requirement to.

ISIS executes 5 in Anbar

[Iraq News] Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
Lions of Islam have executed five young people in front of their families who had been caught fleeing the group’s havens in western Anbar towards security-held areas.

Alghad Press quoted a local source saying that three families, mostly women, were caught by the Lions of Islam fleeing the town of Qaim, on Anbar’s western borders with Syria, towards the city of Rutba to the east.

The Lions of Islam brought the civilians back into Qaim and executed five young people in front of their families, according to the source.

Islamic State Lions of Islam have systematically executed civilians fleeing areas they had taken over since 2014. Many other civilians were also executed for contacting security forces. Recent reports from Anbar have also said that the Lions of Islam had forcibly recruited young people to fight for the group.

30 families flee ISIS control in Anbar

Anbar (IraqiNews.com) Over thirty families fled Islamic State’s havens to other places in the same province of Anbar, security sources said.

Speaking to Alghad Press on Wednesday, the source said, a convoy of 19 families, coming from Rutba, west of Anbar, arrived at Camp 18, located west of Ramadi.

The families, composed of 115 persons, were able to flee IS militants, the source, who preferred anonymity, added.

In related news, twenty other families headed toward Rutba, after escaping IS, another source from Anbar, told Alghad Press.

“More than twenty families escaped toward al-Nazera region, Rutba,” the source said,

“The families are still waiting to be checked. They were transferred to Camp 18,” the source added, giving no more details.

News reports, earlier on the day, said the militant group executed five young people in front of their families who had been caught fleeing town of Qaim, on Anbar’s western borders with Syria, towards the city of Rutba to the east.

ISIS executes ISIS leader near Hawija

Hawija (IraqiNews.com) Islamic State executed one of its prominent leaders and detained three others in Hawija, southwest of Kirkuk, a paramilitary official said expecting bloody conflicts to occur within the group in short time.

“We have confirmed news that IS executed abu Moussa al-Shami, a prominent leader in the countryside of Hawija, over reluctance. He was shot to death,” Jabbar al-Maamouri, of al-Hashd al-Shaabi (Popular Mobilization Forces) told AlSumaria News on Wednesday.

“The group detained three other Arab nationals over the same accusation,” according to Maamouri, who expected “bloody conflicts to break out within the group due to the chaotic situation prevailing in the group.”

Earlier on the day, the group’s chief “investigator”, Abu Omar al-Iraqi , and four of his companions were reportedly killed in an air raid by Iraqi fighter jets.

Hawija and other neighboring regions, west of Kirkuk, have been held by IS since mid-2014, when the group emerged to proclaim an Islamic “caliphate” in Iraq and Syria. The group executed dozens of civilians and security members there, forcing thousands to flee homes.

Further reinforcements from the Federal Police were sent earlier this month from Baghdad to the town, as the military command declared, late August, the end of operations in Tal Afar, the militants’ last haven west of Nineveh, and the approach of the launch of offensives for Hawija.

Spokesperson of the Iraqi Joint Operations Command Yehia Rasool said, last week, there were 2000 IS militants inside Hawija.
