[PJMedia] Seems like everyone's a victim in the USA these days, from college "snowflakes" who can't abide someone with views unlike theirs within miles of their campuses to allegedly assaulted women wearing sexually explicit hats to multi-millionaire football players who are sure there's something wrong but can't always remember what it is (other than Donald Trump). The latest of the many entries in this "Great American Victim Derby" is Puerto Rico -- or at least a significant part of the island's leadership.
...It's an old story. The island has always hovered on the brink of collapse. Self-sufficiency was an illusion. I remember growing up in New York City in the fifties and the non-stop immigration of Puerto Ricans (I lived on the edge of Spanish Harlem). No one seemed to be going the other way -- to Puerto Rico -- despite its balmy Caribbean climate and gorgeous beaches. Maybe that was part of the problem. If you visit a tropical island, the last thing on your mind is work. You want to kick back and enjoy neverneverland as long as you can. To some extent, it's the same for locals. Dolce far niente is a great lifestyle, if you can hack it -- seemingly stress free. I'm envious. But everything has a price. You look around and things are dissolving . No infrastructure. No nada. Calamity strikes. And there you are asking for a handout again.
I'm not saying we shouldn't help Puerto Rico. We must and should. The situation is dreadful. But this is a learning opportunity for the islanders. They should take it. Blaming Donald Trump is the most reactionary and self-destructive thing they can do. It's victimhood redux. Leave that to the rapacious ideologues at CNN, the New York Times, etc. They'd blame the eruption of the Indonesian volcanoes on Trump, if that were possible -- and even it it weren't.

In a continued streak of goodwill during this year’s devastating hurricane season, Tesla has been shipping hundreds of its Powerwall batteries to Puerto Rico in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria. Since the hurricane hit on 20 September, much of the U.S. territory has been left without power ‐ about 97 percent, as of 27 September ‐ hampering residents’ access to drinkable water, perishable food, and air conditioning. The island’s hospitals are struggling to keep generators running as diesel fuel dwindles.
Installed by employees in Puerto Rico, Tesla’s batteries could be paired with solar panels in order to store electricity for the territory, whose energy grid may need up to six months to be fully repaired. Several power banks have already arrived to the island, and more are en route. Doing constructive things instead of demanding government "to do something", does it really works?
The US Army has approved the installation of Israel’s Trophy active-protection system on a number of its M1A2 Abrams tanks, making it the first army aside from the IDF to use the system.
The Pentagon said Thursday the decision was made following "an urgent material" request.
Designed to detect and neutralize incoming projectiles, the Trophy system has four radar antennae and fire-control radars to track incoming threats such as anti-tank guided missiles and rocket-propelled grenades. Once a projectile is detected, Trophy fires a shotgun-type blast to neutralize the threat.
Developed by Israel’s Rafael Advanced Defense Systems and Israel Aircraft Industries’ Elta Group, it is the only fully operational and combat-proven APS in the world.
Michigan-based General Dynamics Land Systems was contracted to add the system to an Armor Brigade Combat Team’s M1A2 SEPv2 at a cost of close to $10 million with an expected completion date by the end of March 2019.
[Daily Caller] Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton weighed in on the deadliest mass shooting in US history, claiming Monday morning that there would have been more deaths if the shooter had a "silencer."
"Imagine the deaths if the shooter had a silencer," Clinton tweeted on Monday, "which the NRA wants to make easier to get."
#8
Since nearly every shooter has turned out to be Islamic, or a person on the left she's trying to control the narrative in case the odds play out again.
#9
Probably would have been less deaths with a silencer. Bullet velocity and range would have been reduced, back pressure might have interfered with auto-firing physics, and the thing might have disintegrated under the excess stress, and sent splinters into the shooter's eyes, ending the assault early.
#13
And someone had put silencer on Hillie's mouth when she was first complainer (or a sock, or anything), more people would be alive today. At least the ones in Benghazi.
Tech note: Current commercially made suppressors are made out of Inconel, just like the turbine blades of a jet engine. Or at least Ruger does.

[Townhall] - The Telegraph U.K. reports that Bath Spa University initially approved a professor’s research grant to study "de-transitioning" transgendered individuals, but revoked the money after surprising early results in the study were deemed "politically incorrect" by the ethics committee.
"De-transitioning" is the term used to describe the process in which individuals operationally change their sex choice back to their biological sex after regretting a transgender reassignment surgery.
Professor James Caspian is a psychotherapist whose specialty is transgendered individuals.
In 2014, Caspian had a conversation with Professor Diroslav Djordjevic that sparked curiosity. Djordjevic is the "world-leading genital reconstructive surgeon." 'Reconstruction'...? No, just check plugs, points, and timing please.
Djordjevic mentioned to Caspian interesting empirical evidence; his own surgeries that he preformed. Djoredjevic is convinced that the number of individuals who undergo sex change operations, regret their decision, and opt to change back to their biological sex is on the rise. 'Empirical evidence'... wouldn't want any of that now would we.
His patients come from all over the world, experience depression, and sometimes have suicidal thoughts, says the surgeon.

The children exhibit the biggest problems as though the adults don't have enough problems themselves. Just a dead end game or should I say experiment. Probably funded by Planned Parenthood types. I call the drug problem Planned parenthood for adults.

I look at "sexual reassignment" (in quotes until they find a way to change the subjects DNA) surgery as something akin to applying paint over structural irregularities.
[Breitbart] According to an interview in Bloomberg Businessweek, Steve Bannon and Henry Kissinger have had several meetings and are preparing a project to sound the alarm about what Bannon views as the primary economic threat to America:
If we don’t get our situation sorted with China, we’ll be destroyed economically. The forced technology transfer of American innovation to China is the single biggest economic and business issue of our time. Until we sort that out, they will continue to appropriate our innovation to their own system and leave us as a colony ‐ our Jamestown to their Great Britain, a tributary state.
This is a bit of hyperbole, referring to England’s Jamestown Colony of Virginia, formed in 1607, but it illustrates the fear that Bannon is presenting of a reversal of roles between China and America, with China becoming the dominant world economic power.
Form a project, study group, or committee? Obviously, neither of these gentlemen have ever shopped at Walmart, Target, or Home Depot.

This is like getting advance warning of the Attack on Pearl Harbor during the Battle of the Coral Sea.
Indeed it is. Something akin to walking the RR tracks, and picking up stray spikes and plates back in the mid to late 1930's. Scrap iron was selling at a premium and being shipped to Japan. Someone failed to follow the money.
[PJ] A Puerto Rican police officer says that the United States military needs to take over disaster relief on the hurricane-ravaged island because the local government is not doing what needs to be done.
The distraught female officer, who was able to get a call in to a Hispanic radio station in New York (La Mega) last week, described the gross incompetence and inaction she has been witnessing in the wake of the hurricane. She said she couldn't give her name because she works for Puerto Rico's police department.
FEMA reported in a news release on September 21 that commodities such as meals, water, cots, and blankets were already pre-positioned and ready for distribution at its Distribution Center and Warehouse in San Juan. More supplies have been shipped in since then.
As of September 30, at least 10,000 shipping containers of food, water, medicine and other critical supplies were sitting on the docks at the port in San Juan, but were not moving because of a lack of truck drivers, some of whom appear to be on strike.
The frustrated officer said red tape was preventing people from getting the supplies they need.
Fighting tears, she said Mayor Carmen Yulin Cruz was not allowing anyone to distribute the aid and begged that the U.S. armed forces take over and distribute the aid and stop Governor Rossello and Mayor Cruz from "doing what they are doing."
"It's an abuse," she sobbed. "It looks like communism in our own island!"
She said "people are helping us but they are not accepting it. They are not accepting any more help because supposedly they have to wait for the [licenses] ..."

Ah, it's all about control to them. The situation can be going to hell, but what's more important is the feeling of control over the situation. It is very satisfying to issue commands and have them obeyed.

[Got the remember this is the party of slavery and segregation who've been blaming all America for decades for their deeds. Shouldn't be surprising that after decades of malfeasance of office in PR they want to dump their handiwork on him.]

Here's some info on Marilou's hubby. Do the math.
Geary Danley is a fan of the The Rachel Maddow Show and liked several pages on Facebook including Thank You Obama, Anti-Trump Army, Progressive Day, Organizing for Action, Not My President, Proud to Be A Democrat, Fight Trump, Boycott All Things Trump, and Impeach Trump. Geary is a Democrat and is registered to vote in Washoe County, Nevada.

Raw Story reports Mr. Paddock is basically retired, spending his time gambling and going to shows. Also, there were 22,000 attending the Country & Western festival.
Most of the commenters at the link assume the shooter is a rightwing NPR type, and they are nasty about it.

Girlfriend Danley was apparently out of country, making several trips lately, but was reportedly Indonesian, the most populous Muslim country today. Something is odd, as she is still married to Geary Danley, but living with Paddock.

Charles,
Any link to Venezuela or Cuba today, any link to pre WWII Nazi Germany under Hitler, or to orders from King George of England during the American Revolution demanding un armed citizens in the colonies will show you what happens to entire populations that are unarmed.
The Vegas massacre was a gun free zone. Even hotel security was to have no weapons. The crazies do thier homework.

I was wondering just how many more "Gun Free Zone" decals security would have to put up in order for the shooter to throw up his arms and say "This just ain't worth it"?

And an analysis of other wacko mass muderers have tended to be Democrats. The last one who shot up the Congressman at a baseball game was a Bernie supporter. Remember? There have been numerous others...Democrats with guns.

Based on the number of rounds per burst he was emptying 30 round clips at each burst. 600 casualties indicated he fired off probably at least a dozen clips, probably more.
But in his mind he was the victim. And blamed the world. Yes, that would be a Democrat.
#74
The range here was over 400 meters. With nearly automatic fire, the 5.56 rounds would be just random, and 7.62 would be only accurate on the first shot of a burst. To injure 600 people would require at least 3000 rounds. Probably twice that much.
I dont't know about you, but I have not fired more than a couple hundred rounds at the range per trip to the range, which took about an hour.
He was not shooting anything that could be legal in any jurisdiction.
It is a damn shame that crazy people violate our gun laws and shoot people.
[DAWN] Canadian police said on Sunday that an attack on an officer outside a football game with a car and knife and a high-speed chase of a U-Haul that left four people injured in the western city of Edmonton, Alberta, are being investigated as acts of terrorism.
Edmonton Police Chief Rod Knecht said that officers took a suspect in jug and they think he acted alone.
Knecht said a flag of the bully boyIslamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems.... (IS) group was found in the car that hit the officer. They later described the suspect as a 30-year-old Edmonton man.
The attack began on a Canadian Football League game outside Commonwealth Stadium on Saturday night when police say a white Chevrolet Malibu rammed a traffic control barricade and sent an officer flying into the air 15 feet.
Knecht said the driver, believed to be 30 years old, then got out and attacked the officer with a knife before fleeing on foot.
The officer was taken to a hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries while a manhunt was launched. "It's not critical," Knecht said of the injuries.
A few hours later, a U-Haul van was stopped at an impaired driving check stop north of downtown on Wayne Gretzky Drive. Knecht said the name of the driver was close to the name of the registered owner of the car that hit the officer.
He said the U-Haul then sped off toward downtown with police in pursuit.
Police say the U-Haul intentionally swerved at pedestrians at crosswalks throughout the chase. Four people were maimed by the van, but the extent of their injuries was not immediately known.
The van eventually flipped near a downtown hotel and a suspect was placed in durance vile Drop the heater, Studs, or you're hist'try! . Knecht said the man was known to police, but did not release his name.
"It is believed at this time that these two incidents are related," Knecht said.
"It was determined that these incidents are being investigated as acts of terrorism." Knecht said Edmonton police are working with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police's National Security Enforcement Team and other Canadian security agencies. Knecht told the public to remain vigilant and observant of their surroundings.
Knecht said police didn't call off the chase of the U-Haul due to the seriousness of the crime.
Witness Pat Hannigan told news hounds that he saw police pull the man from the windshield of the toppled U-Haul. He said 30 police cars were chasing the U-Haul.
Alberta Premier Rachel Notley said on Twitter that her thoughts are with the injured officer and she's hoping for a speedy recovery.

[DAWN] A knifeman killed two women at the main train station in the French Mediterranean city of Marseille on Sunday before being rubbed out by soldiers patrolling there, local officials and police said.
Soldiers posted in the station as part of a special force set up to guard vulnerable areas in terror-hit La Belle France responded to the stabbings in front of the station and shot the man dead, local officials said.
Armed police were deployed afterwards and the grand and ornate rail terminus in the bustling heart of La Belle France's second-biggest city was evacuated, stopping all train traffic on one of the country's busiest lines.
"Two victims have been stabbed to death," regional police chief Olivier de Mazieres told AFP, referring to the attack which occurred at 1:45pm.
The latest deaths came with La Belle France still on high alert and in a state of emergency following a string of attacks in recent years by bandidosholy warriors linked to the bad boyIslamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems.... (IS) group or al-Qaeda.
Since 2015, a total of 239 people have been killed in terrorist attacks in La Belle France, according to an AFP count before Sunday's incident.
After the stabbings, anti-terror prosecutors said they had opened an investigation into "killings linked to a terrorist organization" and the "attempted killing of a public official".
New anti-terror law
The incident came only days after the IS released a recording of what it said was its leader His Supreme Immensity, Caliph of the Faithful and Galactic Overlord, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi ...formerly merely the head of ISIL and a veteran of the Bagram jailhouse. Looks like a new messiah to bajillions of Moslems, like just another dead-eyed mass murder to the rest of us... urging his followers to strike their enemies in the West.
La Belle France has deployed troops and its air force to the Middle East and is a leading partner in the US-led international coalition fighting IS in Iraq and Syria, where IS fighters are being driven back.
La Belle France has suffered several major terror attacks since 2015, including on satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo ...A lefty French satirical magazine, home of what may well be the majority if the active testicles left in Europe... in January followed by an assault on Gay Paree bars and the Bataclan concert hall by gunnies in November of that year.
A killing spree in Nice in July 2016 left 86 people dead when an holy warrior drove a truck into crowds after a fireworks display on Bastille Day.
But there have also been numerous smaller attacks on coppers, soldiers or members of the public since then, sometimes carried out by people with severe psychological problems.
Since November 2015, the country has been in a state of emergency which gives the government and security forces greater powers to combat bandidosholy warriors and launch anti-terror raids.

Prob not monetary, raw materials and manufacturing.
No rare earth ores or copper, can't make steel, not allowed to make plastics or paint anything. Can't even drive boats.
It is the best and worst of times for progressives and liberals.
Politically, their obsessions with identity politics and various racial and gender -isms and -ologies have emasculated the Democratic party: loss of governorships, state legislatures, the House, the Senate, the presidency, and the Supreme Court.
Democrats, for the time being at least, are now reduced to largely a coastal, big-city party. It can certainly pile up lots of blue electoral votes. And, thanks to California, Democrats can capture the popular vote, without necessarily winning presidential elections.

The most important thing to remember about "the New Class" is that they're second raters whose main activity is defense of their social & economic positions against competition from their betters. The ideology they profess is a perfect tool for it.
[FOXNEWS] Dozens of NFL players took a knee during the national anthem as others sat or raised their fists before the games of Week 4 Sunday, a day after President Trump tweeted that it that it was "very important” for players to stand.
Still, the number of kneeling players was down from last weekend, when more than 200 athletes took a knee after Trump lashed out at athletes who protest during the national anthem.
Among the players who kneeled Sunday: half of the San Francisco 49ers. The team released a video of the athletes with the caption: "Together." Their opponents, the Arizona Cardinals, stood.

The sweep followed series of targeted liquidations and drive-by shootings in the capital in the past few days by Al shabaab fighting against Somali government and AU forces.

[Iran Press TV] The latest official figures show that Soddy Arabia ...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face... has returned to recession in what is expected to have been a result of falling oil incomes as well as the government’s austerity measures to curb the kingdom’s budget deficit.
Figures showed that Saudi Arabia’s gross domestic product (GDP), adjusted for inflation, shrank 2.3 percent from the previous quarter in the April-June period, after dropping 3.8 percent in the first quarter.
The lower GDP is believed to have been a result of the kingdom’s lower production of crude oil in line with an agreement by the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) to reduce output and help boost the prices.
Figures show that Saudi Arabia’s oil sector shrank 1.8 percent from a year ago in the second quarter after a 2.3 percent fall in the first, Rooters reported.

[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The Health Minister of the coup government in Sanaa, Mohammed Salem bin Hafeez, has accused Houthi ...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The Yemeni government has accused the Houthis of having ties to the Iranian government, which wouldn't suprise most of us. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews ... gunnies of storming his office in the Yemeni capital and issuing a decision appointing one of their leaders instead.
The dramatic developments were revealed in a statement by the minister loyal to ousted president President-for-Life Ali Abdullah Saleh ... Saleh initially took power as a strongman of North Yemen in 1977, when disco was in flower, but he didn't invite Donna Summer to the inauguration and Blondie couldn't make it... on Saturday, that gangs accompanied by the Undersecretary of the Minister, Abdul Salam al-Madani, a Houthi leader, and Nashwan al-Atab, another Houthi leader, broke into his office.
Hafeez also revealed in a statement to a news agency, that the gunnies broke up a medical meeting he was holding with the directors of the offices of the Ministry of Health.
He said that "the meeting was canceled and a pistol was pointed to my face."
In addition, sources in the Ministry of Health confirmed that there have recently been differences between those loyal to Saleh and Houthi militias.

[LegalInsurrection] Most interesting, and perhaps reflecting a split in the black student community, the group demands specific extra help for non-immigrant blacks:
"We demand that Cornell Admissions to come up with a plan to actively increase the presence of underrepresented Black students on this campus. We define underrepresented Black students as Black Americans who have several generations (more than two) in this country.
The Black student population at Cornell disproportionately represents international or first-generation African or Caribbean students. While these students have a right to flourish at Cornell, there is a lack of investment in Black students whose families were affected directly by the African Holocaust in America. Cornell must work to actively support students whose families have been impacted for generations by white supremacy and American fascism."

It's amazing how ppl who have not done shit so far in life except graduate high school have demands.

Oh, good grief.
As a Cornell student, you aren't "oppressed"; you are privileged, coddled, pampered and indulged to a degree that I, as a white person, am scarcely able to even imagine.
The only thing "oppressing" you is your own stupidity, laziness and selfishness.
Quit yer bitching, because the rest of us are starting to get really, REALLY sick and tired of listening to it.
So fuck off and shut the hell up.

Yeah, we know the African-American Caribbeanists are descended from slaves and the African African Americans prolly are too, but shut up..."

the African Holocaust in America (i.e., the U.S.)
a couple of statistics to consider:
1) The average slave in the Caribbean was expected to die within 3 years of arrival. The plantations needed a constant stream of new slaves to replace the ones that had died.
2) The average slave in South America was expected to die within 6 years of arrival. Brazil in particular was known as "Hell for Blacks."
3) The average slave in the U.S. was expected to live 20 years after arrival. They lived nearly as long as their free white neighbors.
Roughly 9 million slaves were transported to the New World. Only half a million blacks were imported into the U.S.
Why so few? Because the Black population in the U.S. was self sustaining. They did not have to replace mountains of dead slaves every year. Slaves could get married, raise children, hope to be freed in their old age.
To the extent there is an African American holocaust, it is by Blacks, on Blacks, in the Black community.

[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The decision to grant Saudi women a license to drive was no ordinary decision. It actually confirms Soddy Arabia ...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face... ’s decisive journey towards civilization, modernization and development. This has been Saudi Arabia’s orientation for many years, as it opened its markets and economy for foreign companies, sent its students to study abroad and strengthened its ties with world powers. However, it was a brave man who first ate an oyster... the decision to allow women to drive sent a clear and frank message to those who oppose the kingdom and which stipulates that Saudi Arabia is heading towards the future and it will not regress, as they are planning and hoping.

No, it - along with any other concentration of Muslims - is a cancer growth on the body of humanity. That one is a particularly dangerous because of petrodollars.
They're a state that is desperately trying to overcome its self-imposed religious stupidity in an effort to regain what its taken them nearly 100 years to lose. The Saudi leadership thinks that giving women the right to drive will suddenly make the rest of the world see that KSA is a strong, vital part of the 21st century so please invest here because we need yer money.
Um, no. It's not. The women ain't gonna stop just at driving, and everyone else seems to know it except those wacky al-Sauds. The Saudi enforcement apparatus - the mutaawa, the cops - aren't going to suddenly change their tune towards women just because the King says so, and I would bet dollars to shwarma that you're going to start seeing vicious, fatal attacks on driving women. Needless to say, that's not going to draw investments from anybody who could make a difference though there's some countries that I have no doubt will jump at the chance to sink their talons in.
Russia and China, for instance.

[NYPost] For the last 30 years, the Puerto Rican government has been completely inept at handling regular societal needs, so I just don’t see it functioning in a crisis like this one. Even before the hurricane hit, water and power systems were already broken. And our $118 billion debt crisis is a result of government corruption and mismanagement.
The governor Ricardo Rossello has little experience. He’s 36 and never really held a job and never dealt with a budget. His entire administration is totally inexperienced and they have no clue how to handle a crisis of this magnitude.
For instance, shortly after the hurricane hit, the government imposed a curfew from 6 pm to 6 am and then changed it. Now, it’s 7 pm to 5 am, and makes no sense. The curfew has prevented fuel trucks from transporting their loads. These trucks should have been allowed to run for 24 hours to address our needs, but they have been stalled, and so we have massive lines at gas stations and severe shortages of diesel at our hospitals and supermarkets.
I’m really tired of Puerto Rican government officials blaming the federal government for their woes and for not acting fast enough to help people on the island. Last week I had three federal agents in my office and I was so embarrassed; I went out of my way to apologize to them for the attitude of my government and what they have been saying about the US response. When the hurricane hit we had experts from FEMA from all over the US on the ground and I was really proud of their quick response. The first responders and FEMA have all been outstanding in this crisis, and should be supported.
I have 50 engineers that I have sent out pro bono to help local companies get back on their feet. This includes getting people gasoline and cash, and helping them connect to others that can assist with repairs without delays.
I won’t allow my people to work with the local government.
I have a message for the U.S. Congress: Watch out what relief funds you approve and let our local government handle. Don’t let the Puerto Rican government play the victim and fool you. They have no clue what they are doing, and I worry that they will mishandle anything that comes their way.
They don’t need another aircraft carrier. They need experienced people to run a proper disaster command center.

Sounds like an opportunity to practice 'nation building'. Had some uniformed personnel with recent experience. Could come in handy after our own civil war. Treat it as a large scale field exercise.

I heard an interesting discussion regarding Puerto Rico and the VI. A building disaster engineer said Guam regularly gets much worse storms. Said the problem with those islands that Guam doesn't have are totally centered on building codes, and code enforcement. Said one building not built to good codes (which the Caribbean doesn't have) is like a hand grenade to every building down wind. He calls them House Grenades.

Many construction techniques have been developed. The KISS technique is best. Something the average person can be taught. The problem here and in many countries is the layers of corruption. When Iran got their billions I guarantee you many political and politically connected people siphoned off most of the money. href="">money.

I enjoyed this construction. I could see myself doing this. Raw materials seem to be least expensive construction. Labor help I would think would be plentiful. Efforts could be learned and duplicated with others. Integrated logistical assistance would be very important.

I remember photos of Florida after a hurricane back in the 80s or 90s. Houses built by Habitat for Humanity were still standing (I assume they use KISS techniques since so many amateurs are involved, and they avoid the corruption endemic of Florida as well).
Deir Ezzor (Syria News) Local sources informed, on Saturday, that the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) managed to recapture Jafra oil field, northeast of the city of Deir Ezzor, from the Islamic State group, Qasioun News reported.
The sources revealed that the Syrian Democratic Forces were able to capture Jafra oil field, northeast of the city of Deir Ezzor, after fierce battles with the Islamic State militants.
The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) managed to recapture the area of Jafra oil field that exends from Koniko oil field northeast of Deir Ezzor, while the US-Led coalition aircraft carried out several air strikes on the Islamic State headquarters.
Meanwhile, the Islamic State militants conducted an extensive assault on the Syrian regime headquarters in several areas, in the Syrian Badiyah, in the countryside of Deir Ezzor and Homs, leaving dozens of casualties among the army forces.
It is noteworthy that the SDF militia has announced launching an offensive, codenamed “al-Jazeera Storm” on the 9th of September to drive out the Islamic State militants from the areas located northeast of the city of Deir Ezzor.

Milo Yiannopoulos has married his partner John - but has bizarrely cropped out his new husband's face from all their photos on their big day.
The right-wing troll jetted out to Hawaii to marry his long-term boyfriend, named only as John, whose identity Milo has gone to some lengths to hide.
Milo shared a photo of him and his partner - who is facing away from the camera - appearing to say their vows underneath a tree. On the back of his new husband's white tuxedo, were the words 'blind for love.'
In another where the grooms are both pouring champagne into a tower of glasses. John's face is barely visible in the second photo where he's been all but cropped out.
The last photo Milo shared on his Instagram account was of his wedding cake which featured tiny models of the alt-right journalist and his African American husband holding hands on top.
'It's official,' he wrote as the caption.
The wedding took place at the Four Seasons Resort Hualalai on the big island of Hawaii, on Saturday.
Yiannopoulos, 32, became an alt-right poster boy, after his frequent misogynistic, racist, and even homophobic rants.
Yet the extremist agenda he pushes, which has won - and lost - him book deals, speaking events and his job as a writer at Brietbart, seem contradictory with his own life.
He once told Bloomberg he generally didn't employ gay people because he 'didn't trust them'.

[Al Jazeera] Activists and experts have condemned a law implemented in Austria on Sunday prohibiting the face veil as "counterproductive" and as an "attack on religious freedom".
The law, commonly known as the "Burqa ban," came into effect in advance of a general election on October 15, which could see the traditionally xenophobic far-right Freedom Party make gains.
Of approximately nine million Austrians, between 100 to 150 Moslem women - or 0.002 percent - wear the face veil.
There are around 700,000 Moslems in the country.
The garment covers the entire body and face except for the eyes, but violators may now face a fine of up to $180.
The Austrian government says the law safeguards Austrian values and the concept of a free society.
Officials have carefully marketed the law, termed "Prohibition on the Covering of the Face", as being religiously-neutral by also restricting the donning of medical masks, party masks, and scarves in public.

[Iran Press TV] Ottoman Turkish President Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First ... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him... says Ankara no longer needs to join the European Union ...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing... , but will not unilaterally quit the stalled talks on accession to the 28-nation bloc.
"We will not be the side, which gives up. To tell the truth, we don’t need EU membership anymore," President Erdogan told the Ottoman Turkish parliament on Sunday.
He, however, suggested that the bloc still needed The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire.... , saying, "If the EU is going to leap forward, there is only one way to do so and it is to grant Turkey membership and start an action of cultural and economic growth."
Elsewhere in his remarks, the Ottoman Turkish president said the EU states had failed to respond to requests to extradite individuals suspected of involvement in the coup attempt in Turkey in 2016, adding, "The EU failed us in a fight against terrorism."
The 12-year-long accession talks were effectively halted after Turkey began a massive crackdown on the coup suspects. The EU reacted strongly to Ankara’s purging of thousands of people from organizations and institutions over alleged links to the coup attempt.

[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] United States President Donald Trump ...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States... has told his secretary of state not to waste any more efforts with North Korea’s "Little Rocket Man", in reference to Kim Jong-Un.
In a series of tweets published from his golf course in New Jersey, Trump questioned the need for Rex Tillerson and the State Department’s efforts in reaching out to Pyongyang.
"I told Rex Tillerson, our wonderful Secretary of State, that he is wasting his time trying to negotiate with Little Rocket Man... Save your energy Rex, we’ll do what has to be done!" Trump tweeted.
Trump’s comment came the day after Tillerson disclosed that the US was directly communicating with North Korea on its nuclear and missile programs but that Pyongyang had shown no interest in dialogue.
Tillerson said during a trip to China on Saturday that the US had multiple direct channels of communication with Pyongyang, the first such disclosure from the Trump administration, and that it was probing North Korea to see whether it is interested in dialogue.

Hawija (IraqiNews.com) Iraqi government and paramilitary forces took over 12 villages near the Islamic State-held town of Hawija, southwest of Kirkuk, on Sunday as a second phase of military operations launched against militants’ havens.
Federal Police chief Shaker Jawdat and Popular Mobilization Forces said that the forces took over 12 villages west and southeast of the enclave on the third day of a second phase of offensives which launched Friday.
Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi and military commanders declared on Friday the launch of a second phase of offensives to retake the town held by IS since 2014, saying that hundreds of militants were killed on the first few days of the offensive.
The first phase of operations ended a week ago.
So far, operations targeting Hawija managed to retake the town of Shirqat, an IS stronghold in neighboring Salahuddin, and dozens of surrounding villages.
Parallel operations were launched late September targeting IS havens in western Anbar.
Hawija (IraqiNews.com) Iraqi forces and allied paramilitary troops have retaken 28 villages as part of operations to clear the southwestern Kirkuk town of Hawija from militants, military media said Sunday.
The Defense Ministry’s War Media Cell, quoting the Joint Operations Command, said forces advancing from the south and the east of the city have converged.
Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi and military commanders declared on Friday the launch of a second phase of offensives to retake the town held by IS since 2014, saying that hundreds of militants were killed on the first few days of the offensive.
Hawija (IraqiNews.com) Islamic State’s member responsible for flying drones was killed in an explosion on Sunday at the town of Hawija, southwest of Kirkuk, as government troops advance to retake the town.
The so-nicknamed “al-Mulla” was killed in an explosion of a weaponized drone while trying to fly it on the outskirts of Hawija, said a local source to Alsumaria News.
Islamic State has been relying on bomb-laden drones both reconnaissance and for attacking security troops over the past few years.
Earlier on Sunday, military media said Iraqi forces and allied paramilitary troops had retaken 28 villages as part of operations to recapture Hawija.
Hawija (IraqiNews.com) A photojournalist has been killed while covering the ongoing battles between Islamic State and Iraqi joint troops in the group’s holdout in southwest of Kirkuk, a source was quoted saying.
“A colleague from al-Nujabaa channel, Warith al-Shemari, was killed on Sunday during battles within the Hawija offensive,” the source told alforat news.
Hawija and other neighboring regions, west of Kirkuk, have been held by IS since mid-2014, when the group emerged to proclaim an Islamic “caliphate” in Iraq and Syria.
In July, The Federation of Arab Journalists said in a statement that 47 Iraqi journalists were killed, while 55 others were wounded while covering and accompanying security troops during battles in Mosul.
The first Iraqi slain journalist in 2017 was Abdul Qader al-Qaisi, who was kidnapped and then found by security forces in January. His body was dumped on the road between Kirkuk and Baghdad. Another journalist Afrah Shawqi was abducted for nine days and then released.
A report by Reporters Without Borders (RSF) said in December seven reporters were killed in Iraq in 2016, out of a total of 57 who were killed in conflict areas across the world. Syria came on top of the death tally with 19 victims. The total for 2016 was, however, a drop from the 101 death count of 2015.
In October, the Committee to Protect Journalists said Iraq was the world’s top country in terms of impunity regarding journalists’ killing, attributing the fact to the involvement of extremist militias in the murders.
Hawija (IraqiNews.com) A senior Islamic State commander and his brothers were killed Sunday in an air raid that targeted a group-held property in Hawija, southwest of Kirkuk as military operations proceed to clear the town from militants.
A local source told Alsumaria News that the so-designated “emir of soldiers” was killed along with two of his brothers when an air strike targeted their resthouse on the outskirts of Hawija.
Earlier on Sunday, military media said Iraqi forces and allied paramilitary troops had retaken 28 villages as part of operations to recapture Hawija.

Beirut– After 11 consecutive days of heavy raids, Russian and Syrian regime forces stopped their air strikes over Idlib governorate which began to enjoy some calmness since Friday-Saturday midnight.
Experts believe that the raids had stopped following several “international pressures exerted on Moscow especially after the Russian war planes destroyed medical centers.”
However, a Free Syrian Army commander considered the calm situation to be temporary because warplanes are busy with Badiya battles and trying to stop ISIS terrorists from advancing in east of Homs.
According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), after over 1500 raids during 11 consecutive days on Idlib, Hama and Aleppo provinces, Russian and regime raids had stopped and the areas have been witnessing calmness since after the midnight of Friday – Saturday,
The SOHR documented that the intensive raids started on September 19, 2017 killing 197 citizens at least, including 53 children and 47 women in the areas of Khan Shaykoun, al-Tamanah, Jarjnaz, and other areas in Idlib countryside, as well as al-Madiq Citadel, al-Lataminah and the northern and the north-eastern countryside of Hama.
In addition, 68 fighters of al-Sham Corps were killed during a raid that targeted their headquarters in Tal Mardikh area near Saraqeb in Idlib’s astern countryside, while hundreds of the members of Hayyaat Tahrir al-Sham and the Islamic Party of Turkestan were killed and injured during Russian and Syrian air raids on their sites, according to SOHR.
These developments occurred following the meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Ankara two days ago. However, military and strategic expert Colonel Ahmad Rahhal believes that the meeting between the two leaders didn’t have that of an effect on the military operations. He stated that the day following the meeting, several raids occurred and killed dozens of civilians.
Speaking to Asharq Al-Awsat, Rahhal expressed his belief that the decreased number of air raids is due to European pressures exerted at the UN after Russian warplanes destroyed most of Idlib’s hospitals and schools.
Idlib witnessed a bloody Friday after Russian and Syrian regime warplanes bombed Harem and Armanaz in western countryside, killing 36 civilians and injuring dozens others.
Free Syrian Army commander Abu Ali Abdulwahhab stated that the Russian and regime planes had left all nearby airports and headed towards ISIS’ areas. He denied links between the halt of the air raids and involvement of Turkish police saying they never entered Idlib.
He told Asharq Al-Awsat that they never entered Idlib, but the policemen are near Bab al-Hawa crossing point and are ready to enter.
Activist Haitham Hamo stated that even though the bombing has stopped, civilians are worried the raids will occur again at any minute. He informed Asharq Al-Awsat that people are moving around the city cautiously and Civil Defense members had been active since Saturday helping civilians and recovering the bodies of dead citizens from under the debris.
An escalation in the bombing of medical facilities since September 19 has forced the closure and evacuation of hospitals throughout northwestern Syria, according to the international medical humanitarian organization Doctors Without Borders (MSF).
In a statement issued, MSF confirmed that Hama Central Hospital has been targeted during an air raid, however no medics or patients were killed in the strike.
“On September 26, the MSF-supported Hama Central/Sham hospital was hit by an air strike at around 6:30 a.m. local time, putting it out of service,” read the statement.
Hama Central/Sham hospital is not primarily supported by MSF, but the organization had been supporting it with regular monthly medical supply donations since 2014.

[AOL] Sunday's first NFL game was marked by a mix of protests amid the ongoing debate over how NFL players should exercise their voice during the national anthem.
The New Orleans Saints took a page from the Cowboys as the game against the Miami Dolphins began in London, kneeling together as a team initially, but then standing and locking arms as the U.S. national anthem was sung by Darius Rucker.
Meanwhile, ...back at the barn, a little lightbulb figuratively appeared over Bossy's head... at least three members of the Dolphins -- Kenny Stills, Michael Thomas and Julius Thomas -- were seen kneeling during "The Star-Spangled Banner." All three then stood for the British anthem, "God Save the Queen," which was sung because the game was being played in England.

[DAWN] Disgraced American football star O.J. Simpson, whose racially charged 1995 murder trial riveted the nation, was released from jail on parole early Sunday after nine years behind bars for armed robbery.
Simpson, 70, left the Lovelock Correctional Center in the western state of Nevada just after midnight, prison spokesperson Brooke Keast said. "I don't know where he was headed," Keast told AFP.
Simpson was granted parole at a hearing in July and his earliest release date was set for October 1, but he had widely been expected to be freed no earlier than Monday.

[DAWN] Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy said on Sunday that the rule of law had prevailed in Catalonia because an independence referendum in the region prohibited by the courts had been blocked.
“Today there has not been a self-determination referendum in Catalonia. The rule of law remains in force with all its strength,” he said in a televised address.
Earlier, Spanish riot police smashed their way into polling stations in Catalonia and fired rubber bullets at protesters outside one Barcelona polling station to try to halt a disputed independence referendum.
Nearly 350 people, including some police, were injured in the melee, officials said.

In Sunday's loss to Denver, Lynch ran nine times for 12 yards averaging 1.3 yards per carry. For those of you who may not be familiar with NFL running back statistics, that's pathetic, especially for the guy who is supposed to be the star running back. If I was Raiders owner Mark Davis, I'd bench him at the very least, but probably just outright drop him from the team's roster. BTW, Raiders QB Derek Carr left the game early with a back injury. Well, I have to wonder if Lynch had at least been blocking the pass rush Carr's injury might have been avoided. Somebody needs to tell Lynch that if he wants to continue his NFL career he needs to get his head back into the game.

The next couple of games will determine that, Abu. Lynch retired at the end of the season in 2016, took a year off and then unretired. That's usually a huge uphill battle for NFL running backs past 30.
The Oakland Raiders is the only NFL lineup made up entirely of African-American players. During last week’s Raiders – Washington Redskins game, the offensive line of the team decided to sit out the national anthem, but not everyone.
Quarterback Derek Carr stood for the anthem. But his offensive line – which protects the quarterback – decided to sit out the anthem.
“So Derek Carr, who is never sacked – was sacked four times by the Redskins, back to back on the second offensive series of the Raiders,” the host said.

Dunno if it's fair to say Raiders O line threw the game, more likely they are distracted by all the political bull crap. At least that's what I'd like to think.
At any rate, this does not bode well for a team that is looking to move from Oakland to Las Vegas. The Vegas high rollers who said they'd bankroll a new stadium might be having second thoughts.

[Libya Observer] We were at the Public Prosecutor’s Office in central Tripoli ...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn... for a highly anticipated presser held by the head of the Interrogations Office of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, Siddiq Soor. The presser was held to reveal the results of preliminary interrogations with ISIS captives held in jug after their loss in the war in Sirte.
Some of the main revelations indicated that the very first man to introduce the idea of ISIS in Libya was a man by the name of Hassan Bilaraj, who was tossed in the slammer Youse'll never take me alive coppers!... [BANG!]... Ow!... I quit! in Iraq in 2005 yet returned to Libya in 2012.
Bilaraj and his early associates planned the creation of three ISIS emirates in Libya; four main institutions would make up the foundation of each emirate.
The main institutions were arms, recruitment, immigration and border control and finally media. Brigades were formed to protect these institutions, the main ones being Border Protection Brigades, Recruitment Brigades and the Desert Brigades.
Looking at the slideshow presented by the Prosecutor’s Office, it was clear to see that the terror group was extremely organized and well on their way to creating a full functioning state.
Some of the Main traces of finance that supported the creation of ISIS were unintentional support by previous governments, which made payments to individuals who were registered in groups under the Interior Ministry, but later joined the terror group. Bank robberies were also a main method of finance as well as kidnapping and extortion. Financing also arrived from the main headquarters of the terror group in Syria and Iraq. Those in charge of the emirates were identified along with their current status, whether they were killed in action or still on the lam, most being Libyans originating from Sirte.
Many of the bully boyz who set up safe houses in Sabratha were of Tunisian origin and planned to train their elements then transfer them to Syria and Iraq while sleeper cells were created to infiltrate other cities like Zliten, Misrata and Tripoli.
There were four nationalities for elements of ISIS totaling over 100, they were Libyan, Sudanese, Tunisian and Egyptian, and others ranged from Soddy Arabia ...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face... to Qatar ...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates... , Yemen, Algeria, even as far as the United States. The total number of nationalities captured or killed is 26.
The main routes taken by foreigners entering Libya were Tunisians and Egyptians who travelled towards the south, coupled with all those from countries south of Libya who would then travel north through the desert to Sirte.
Many liquidation cases were solved as a result of interrogations when previously unsolved cases were traced to ISIS elements. The Tunisian journalists who were kidnapped in Libya were also mentioned by ISIS captives and the facts of how they were kidnapped was revealed to interrogators.
Some other interesting points was the fact that many previously unsolved bank robberies were revealed to be ISIS jobs and tracing a lot of the ISIS elements past linked them directly to al-Qaeda. Bombings that totaled over 200 were also attributed to ISIS after investigations leaded to prove so.
Soor stated that his office is continuing their investigations to reveal the resting place of the Egyptian Coptic Christians who were videoed by ISIS being beheaded in Sirte. Soor also stated that up to 800 arrest warrants have been issued for suspects linked to the terror organization ISIS.

[VictoryGirlsBlog] Two football players have finally lost their positions after they decided to protest the National Anthem and American flag. Granted, they are high school players on a private school team, but they’ve been booted nonetheless. On Friday, Houston private school Victory & Praise Christian Academy players and cousins, Cedric Ingram-Lewis and Larry McCullough, followed through on their plans to protest during the anthem. Ingram-Lewis raised a fist while McCullough took a knee. With apologies to Zenobia Floger6220:
They were immediately told to remove their uniforms and leave the game by their coach Ronnie Mitchum. Mitchum happens to be a former Marine and current pastor.
...
Ingram-Lewis’ mother said the players shouldn’t be told what time they can and cannot protest.
"He has a slave master mentality," she said. "If you were to go back to that when they wanted to tell us this is what you are going to do and this is how you do it. And if we didn’t comply, we were beaten, whooped or even killed."
...

Cedric Ingram-Lewis's mom is named Rhonda Brady.

Mark Steyn has an excellent commentary on this phenomenon. Among other things, he points out that you have a "right" top shout four-letter words at someone's grandmother's funeral. This doesn't mean that you should do it nor that any civilized human being would do it.

My prediction, if the line about ESPN showing the Anthem tonight, is that the game being Redskins @ Chiefs there will be those who cannot help but Takeaknee Go!
Yeah, I had to look up the game, raised Chiefs here.
Then we can compare this to yesterday's final game of the Royals, where a sub-.500 team basically eliminated from the playoffs weeks ago had a sold-out full stadium to give a farewell to the core of the 2014 and 2015 players who go on the market after this season.
Salahuddin (IraqiNews.com) Two Islamic State militants were killed in a blast caused by a bomb as they were trying to plant in north of Salahuddin, a security source was quoted saying on Sunday.
Speaking to AlSumaria News on Sunday, the source said, “two IS militants were killed in a blast as they were trying to plant a bomb in the roads beneath Makhoul mountains.”
“IS mainly depends on bombs, being its last weapon to use against advancing security troops,” the source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, added.
Federal Police announced, last week, liberation of eastern Shirqat, the group’s holdout in north of Salahuddin.
225 militants had been killed since the launch of operations in Shirqat, Jawdat previously announced.

While public school students all across Canada typically learn about the world’s major religions at some point during their studies, one school board’s guidebook on Islam is edging close to religious instruction and indoctrination.
The Toronto District School Board designates a number of heritage months throughout the year and October is Islamic Heritage Month. A 170-page guidebook prepared for teachers recommends a variety of religious intrusions into the public school system.
A list of announcements it suggests be read before or after the playing of O Canada include the Muslim greeting "As-salamu alaykum" (peace be upon you) and an invitation to visit a local mosque.
Children are encouraged to use paper cut-outs to construct replicas of famous mosques around the world.
One assignment for students includes writing an article about one of 12 Muslim Canadians, four of whom are Liberal politicians currently in office, including Ontario Attorney General Yasir Naqvi.
These would all be done within the classroom and during school time. They’re also not to be restricted just to October because, as the guidebook notes, "the goal is to embed this learning within every classroom, across the curriculum, and throughout the school year."
Anbar (IraqiNews.com) Over 40 Islamic State militants were killed, while others, including Arabs and foreigners, were wounded in airstrikes that targeted a meeting for the group’s members in west of Anbar, Interior Ministry said.
A statement by the ministry’s intelligence indicated coordination with the Joint Operations Command targeting five IS pivotal locations in west of Anbar. Iraqi fighter jets, “targeted a meeting for IS leaders in al-Jazeera region, Qaim town, leaving 20 militants killed and others injured.”
“An airstrike destroyed a rest house for suicide attackers in Karabla region, Qaim, killing 11 militants and injuring others,” it said. “A booby-trapping workshop of the so-called Baghdad State was destroyed in the region, which was followed by several blasts that occurred due to presence of several booby-trapped vehicles inside. 12 militants were killed, while others, most of whom were Arab and foreigners, were injured.”
In related news, a security source from Anbar said “U.S.-led Coalition jets killed Marawan Mohamed Ali Ismail, a senior IS leader in Qaim and profoundly injured his siblings Saud and Ismail.”
“Marawan is the brother of an IS militant Abdel Mohsen, who is wanted by the U.S. and Iraqi government,” the source told Alghad Press.
Anbar’s western towns of Qaim and Rawa have been held by the extremist group since 2014, when it occupied one third of Iraq to proclaim a self-styled Islamic “Caliphate”. Iraqi troops were able to return life back to normal in the biggest cities of Anbar including Fallujah, Ramadi and others after recapturing them in 2015 and 2016.
Iraqi army announced the total recapture of the town of Annah, hours after recapturing neighboring Rayhana area, earlier this month. Troops also liberated Akashat region, between Rutba town, on borders with Jordan, and Qaim, on borders with Syria.
Anbar (IraqiNews.com) Fifty Islamic State militants were killed as security thwarted an attack to target regions in south and west of Ramadi, official said on Sunday.
In a press conference, Maj. Gen. Hadi Rezeij, chief of Anbar police, said, “the terrorist attack that IS carried out on September 27 on Ramadi was aiming at the fall of regions in west and south of the city.”
Security troops, according to Rezeij, “confronted the attack and inflicted huge losses on the enemy in addition to repulsing its scheme.”
“The losses were more than 50 murdered members and between 30-40 destroyed vehicles,” he added.
Earlier on the day, five suicide attackers were killed as security services and Tribal Mobilization Forces repulsed an IS attack in abul Jeir region, south of Ramadi.
On Saturday, six bombers were killed in the same region.
Ramadi was recaptured by government and tribal forces from IS in December 2015, however, several occasional attacks by the group have occurred since then.
The militant group invaded, last week, al-Tash and the 5th Kilometer regions, south and west of Ramadi. The militants reportedly took over al-Tash and al-Jamea (university) areas after invading them with 20 pickup trucks, however, troops were able to repulse the attack. 40 IS militants were killed, while three injured others were wounded, Brig. Gen. Saad Maan, spokesperson of Baghdad Operations said in a weekly press conference on Thursday.
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Four army personnel were killed and wounded in a bomb blast that took place in Hit city, west of Anbar, the military media reported.
“A soldier was killed, while three others were wounded as a booby-trapped vehicle targeted convoy of the 29th brigade in central Hit,” the Defense Ministry’s War Media Cell said in a statement.
“Security troops cordoned off the blast spot. The wounded were taken to hospital, while the victim was taken to forensic medicine department,” it added.
A security source from Anbar previously said that a booby-trapped vehicle targeted army personnel in central Hit.
Anbar (IraqiNews.com) Four Islamic State suicide attackers were killed after they infiltrated into the city of Hit, west of Anbar, an official was quoted saying on Sunday.
“Security troops managed to besiege four IS suicide attackers who infiltrated into Hit city,” Mohamed al-Mohammadi, head of the city council, told AlSumaria News.
“The attackers were killed after clashes occurred with security. Explosive belts, they were wearing, exploded,” he said adding that security situation in the city is under control of troops and tribes.
On Saturday, an army soldier was killed, while three others were wounded as a booby-trapped vehicle targeted convoy of the 29th brigade in central Hit.

An Afghan Air Force (AAF) helicopter on Sunday missed its target in southern Helmand’s Greshk district and killed nine Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF), Helmand governor spokesman Omar Zawak told TOLOnews.
The helicopter missed the target and bombed the ANSF in which nine soldiers were killed and ten were wounded.
Among those killed, one was an NDS soldier, one was an NDS officer and seven were local security force members.
The airstrike was carried out by a MD 130 helicopter on Sunday afternoon around 4pm local time.
[DAWN] A video of a 9-year-old girl showing marks of physical abuse allegedly by her teacher went viral over the weekend and caused outrage among people in Azad Jammu and Kashmire (AJK), police said on Sunday.
In the video, the mother of the minor girl, a student of a state-run primary school in Upper Tangerran village of tehsil Abbaspur, is seen showing marks of abuse on her daughter which she says are a result of brutal corporal punishment by a female teacher, allegedly for not remembering her lesson. The incident was confirmed by police in the area on Sunday.
"The innocent child was ruthlessly beaten. Who resorts to such kind of torturous treatment with schoolchildren in today’s time?" Qazi Arsalan, second officer in Police Station Abbaspur, told DawnNews.
According to the police, the incident occurred on Tuesday and garnered local attention after human rights ...not to be confused with individual rights, mind you... activist Saqib Mushtaq uploaded photographs of the girl on Facebook.
Pictures showed the bruised swollen eyes of the girl, which doctors say is because of flogging on the head. Marks of flogging were also seen on the girl's back.
According to Arsalan, the girl was brought to the station by her grandfather and uncle on Wednesday ─ a day after the incident took place.
The police sent to her to a local health facility, from where she was referred to Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed al- Nahayan Hospital in district headquarters Rawalakot.
"Since there is no such law in AJK dealing with corporal punishment in educational institutions, we were left with no choice but to register a case under normal penal code sections, which however require a medical report," Arsalan explained.
On Saturday, the police received a provisional medical report from Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed al-Nahayan Hospital, on the basis of which a first information report (FIR) was lodged against the teacher, he said.
"Police teams are conducting raids to arrest the accused but she has gone into hiding," he said, adding that the case was assigned to a lady sub-inspector.

[MichellesMirror] You might have thought after the politicization of football and children’s library books there would be nothing left to politicize but you would be wrong. Robin Givhans has managed to make the case that even clothing is political – not to mention racist.
Before we get into the specifics, allow me to establish Ms. Givhan’s credentials. A Detroit native, she graduated from Princeton, holds a master’s degree in journalism from the University of Michigan and has been a fashion writer – for the Detroit Free Press, San Francisco Chronicle, Vogue, The Daily Beast, and currently the Washington Post - for nearly 30 years.
In 2006 she received a Pulitzer Prize for Criticism, the first ever awarded to a fashion writer: “the Pulitzer Committee explained its rationale by noting Givhan's "witty, closely observed essays that transform fashion criticism into cultural criticism.”
Despite once having the audacity to criticize Michelle Obama for wearing shorts to the Grand Canyon ("Avoiding the appearance of queenly behavior is politically wise. But it does American culture no favors if a first lady tries so hard to be average that she winds up looking common," ) she otherwise checked every politically correct box out there.
Still, her column from last month seems to go beyond the norms of standard cultural political correctness: Neo-Nazis are using fashion in an attempt to normalize, and the fashion industry needs to speak up. It’s about the White Supremacists who marched in Charlottesville and what they wore. Her main objection is that the Neo-Nazis didn’t don the cloaks and hoods of the Klu Klux Klan
...why would they?
and instead wore “ordinary” clothes.
This suggests that those condemned as neo Nazis were actually the ordinary people their ordinary clothes suggested, since Antifa, for instance, has their own all-black-and-balaclavas look.
And she’s also upset that the fashion world has not vociferously condemned this cultural appropriation. Excerpts from her emotional column:
Fashion has been weaponized. And the fashion industry has been all but silent…
In the multitude of images from Charlottesville, the race-baiting protesters are decked out in white polo shirts and khakis. Others are wearing neat jeans, button-down shirts, cargo shorts.
Mr. Wife dresses like that. He used to wear suits to work, but when casual Friday became everyday business casual, he went shopping. It's the uniform of the suburban male.
They are wearing jeans and striped pullovers that look like they could have come from the sale rack at a local Gap…
...and very probably did. That stuff is not cheap at full price.
But the relevance of fashion in the conversation about racial hatred goes well beyond any particular brand. For an observer cognizant of the internal symbols and visual language of white nationalists, there was a lot to read: neo-Nazi, Proud Boy, skinhead, alt-right. But for the uninitiated, the style of dress was unremarkable. This wasn't a crowd filled with white robes and hoods…
Why wouldn’t fashion speak up? Especially now that fashion has become a stealth weapon for white nationalists. Neo-Nazis have bought into fashion’s ability to camouflage, distract, embolden, reassure, flatter and, quite simply, lie…
I’m not sure how Robin feels about the NFL but she clearly thinks the fashion industry needs to speak up against this existential racist, sexist, homophobic threat:
Not every industry needs to make a public statement with every turn of the news cycle…
Still, the fashion industry is anchored by large public companies that carry just as much cultural clout as any athlete or actor. Many fashion brands have built their businesses on the mythic melting pot of the American Dream. Fashion owes an especially large debt to those communities targeted by white supremacists: Designers regularly draw artistic inspiration from communities of color. Some of fashion's earliest and most influential merchants and editors have been Jewish.
Confusingly, Jews are now considered as white as the Americans of Asian and Protestant English descent.
And the industry has benefited greatly from the creativity and ingenuity of those who identify as LBGT.
White nationalists are moving through communities cloaked in the most mundane, banal kind of fashion. Clothes that do not inspire a double-take. Clothes that are acceptable and appropriate. Clothes that make them look like they belong. And the fashion industry has yet to tell them that they do not.
Hey, I’ve got it! How about if we make the Alt-Right all wear pink pussy hats when they assemble?
Just what America needs, another industry telling us to check our privilege, stop with the cultural appropriation and just shut up.

I wear cargo shorts to work a lot because I have a lot of pockets to stick my smaller tools in. No t one of the black ppl around atlanta I have worked for over the years have called me racist. Not to mention my very short hair.Guess it's a good thing I work in the John's Creek, Alpharetta neighborhoods where a little more common sense prevails.

[APNEWS] In Puerto Rico’s hurricane-ravaged capital, it seems Carmen Yulin Cruz is everywhere these days: handing out bags of ice, wading through chest-deep floodwaters, hugging people in need of comfort.
Cruz has long won attention across the island for her hands-on style of leadership in San Juan. But this week she rose to international prominence as a target of Twitter attacks by U.S. President Donald Trump ...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States... ‐ including one tweet Sunday calling her and others "politically motivated ingrates."
The insult came hours after "Saturday Night Live" portrayed Cruz in a skit highlighting the latest controversy for the 54-year-old former human resources executive, who occupies one of Puerto Rico’s most powerful posts and has become something of a divisive ...politicians call things divisive when when the other side sez something they don't like. Their own statements are never divisive, they're principled... figure on the island of 3.4 million residents.
Some of Puerto Rico’s mayors have praised federal hurricane relief efforts, while others have joined Cruz in saying they have been insufficient and slow-moving.
In a U.S. territory whose relationship with the mainland is usually the single most prominent political issue, Cruz backs independence but is a member of the Popular Democratic Party, which supports maintaining the territorial status quo. A graduate of Boston University and Carnegie Mellon, she is also a former member of the island’s House of Representatives.

Lovely photo ops - instead of meeting with the FEMA folks or leaning on the striking truck drivers to get in the game. You know, doing stuff that actually matters. Here's hoping she becomes as famous as Ray Nagin!
Tune in tomorrow when Donald Trump offers to sell the entire island on eBay.
[Dhaka Tribune] Members of different Lion of Islam outfits have apparently smartened up and become tech-savvy as they are now using encrypted communications applications or apps more and more to maintain communications online, making it harder for the law enforcement agencies to trace them.
Encrypting the messages while chatting via these or other social media app is also making it tougher for police to recover the conversations most of the time from electronic devices seized from enjugged Drop the rosco, Muggsy, or you're one with the ages! Lion of Islams.
Police’s Anti-Terrorism Unit officials said the gunnies initially had used popular apps like Facebook and its Messenger, and Google Hangouts to communicate. But recently they have started using instant, but encrypted messaging apps such as Threema, Telegram and Wickr to keep their chats more secret.
At present, officials said, gunnies also use WhatsApp, Viber, Tango, Hike and several other similar apps as most of them have the encryption facilities, but they rapidly switch platforms to avoid detection.
Monirul Islam, chief of Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit, in several earlier instances claimed that they had succeeded in weakening the existing Lion of Islam outfits in Bangladesh after the Gulshan cafe attack in July last year.
"We have broken most of the Lion of Islam networks. But they are trying to remain active on the internet. We are tracking their online activities through regular monitoring and working on preventing them by conducting raids," he said.
CTTC’s Additional Deputy Commissioner Abdul Mannan told the Dhaka Tribune: "The Lion of Islam groups have started giving technology-related training to their new recruits so that they can avoid our online traps."
"Militants now also prefer students with a science or IT background while recruiting as their network and communications are now fully internet-based. Every Lion of Islam group now has its own IT wing and they prefer online chats than talking over mobile phones."
Making their case, Sherlocks also said that the Federal Bureau of Investigation of the United States had examined 30 phones seized from Holey Artisan Bakery after the July 1, 2016, attack, and found that the attackers had used encrypted messaging app Threema to communicate with the gunnies outside.
A police inspector of the CTTC, requesting anonymity, somewhat confessed to the Dhaka Tribune: "It’s becoming harder for us to infiltrate their secret online network as the gunnies are now using updated apps.
"They may also use Silent Circle, Signal, Chat Secure, OS Tel or Red Phone, which are highly advanced and more privacy-conscious messaging apps, in the future. If they do that, it will become more challenging to trace their secret and online networks."

[DAWN] At least 28 non-combatants were killed in air strikes on northwestern Syria where a planned safe zone has been overshadowed by a bombing campaign against jihadists, a monitor said on Saturday.
Four children were among the dead in the overnight strikes on the town of Armanaz, in Idlib province near the Ottoman Turkish border, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.
The Britannia-based watchdog had earlier reported 12 dead in the strikes on the town in Harem district around 20 kilometres northwest of the bustling provincial capital Idlib. The observatory said it could not immediately determine whether the strikes had been carried out by warplanes of the Syrian government or its ally Russia.
But they are the latest in an intensifying air campaign carried out by the two governments against jihadist fighters who control most of the province and are not party to a safe zone deal brokered by Russia, The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire.... and Iran.
The surge in bombing raids has forced hospitals in the province to close, medical charity Doctors Without Borders (MSF) said on Friday.
They were triggered by an offensive by jihadist fighters led by Al Qaeda’s former Syria affiliate launched against government-held villages in neighbouring Hama province on September 19.
The jihadists control nearly all of Idlib province after driving out Islamist former allies earlier this year.

Chris gives us Mexican press dispatches of drug and gang war violence
over three years, presented in a multi volume set intended to chronicle the death, violence and mayhem which has
dominated Mexico for six years.
Rantburg was assembled from recycled algorithms in the United States of America. No
