The Left's Long Post-Election Tantrum
h/t Instapundit
You know, it has been asserted ‐ at Ace of Spades HQ among other places, and I made the point myself in a post here ‐ that the left has left normal behind.

Part of their primacy in the culture, part of the reason they inserted themselves into gatekeeper positions and managed to control the media-industrial complex, is that for the longest time they looked not only normal but, as far as the human instinct can perceive it (even in a "classless" society), "high class" and commanding and in control.

...I don’t know when that slipped. I started noticing some acts of truly bizarre public performance during the Bush years. It was as though, with Motor Voter and the ease of election falsification, they’d assumed no Republican candidate would ever displace theirs, and therefore they went utterly unhinged when Bush won. From trying to disqualify the election results, to bizarre displays including hanging him in effigy, they were off the reservation. On the other hand, I understand their public displays were always fairly unhinged, including the "marching around with giant papier-mache puppets." But even then I thought that "women dancing around in vulva" (unlike them, I know anatomy) "costumes" was a step beyond.

...I don’t know about you guys, but this is starting to get creepy. Sure, we wanted the left revealed for the fantasists they are.

But how does a country resume even vaguely normal life when at least 25% of it is throwing a massive tantrum because they didn’t get their Hillary ice cream?

How does one send a quarter of the country, many with bully pulpits, to their room for a timeout?

I don’t know. I offer only a glimmer of hope. Note that even in their fantasy they have nothing about Hillary winning an election.

Let us be grateful they’re sane enough to realize that she can’t do.

At least eight dead and more than twelve injured in shooting and truck ramming in downtown Manhattan
Moved to Home Front: WoT.
[Daily Mail] Six people have been killed by a truck driver who mowed them down on a bike path in lower Manhattan on Tuesday.

The driver made his way from Houston Street down towards Tribeca where he mounted the bike path on the West Side Highway shortly after 3pm.

After striking several cyclists and runners, he came to a stop when his truck crashed into a school bus beneath the Tribeca bridge.

The man then emerged with imitation guns in his hand and was shot in the leg by police. He survived and was taken to hospital but at least six innocent people were killed and others are injured.

Patrick Buchanan: That Other Plot -- to Bring Down Trump
[Rasmussen Report] Well over a year after the FBI began investigating "collusion" between the Trump campaign and Vladimir Putin, Special Counsel Robert Mueller has brought in his first major indictment.

Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort has been charged with a series of crimes dating back years, though none is tied directly to President Donald Trump or 2016.

With a leak to CNN that indictments were coming, Mueller's office stole the weekend headlines. This blanketed the explosive news on a separate front, as the dots began to be connected on a bipartisan plot to bring down Trump that began two years ago.

And like "Murder of the Orient Express," it seems almost everyone on the train had a hand in the plot.

The narrative begins in October 2015.

Then it was that the Washington Free Beacon, a neocon website, engaged a firm of researchers called Fusion GPS to do deep dirt-diving into Trump's personal and professional life -- and take him out.

A spinoff of Bill Kristol's The Weekly Standard, the Beacon is run by his son-in-law. And its Daddy Warbucks is the GOP oligarch and hedge fund billionaire Paul Singer.

From October 2015 to May 2016, Fusion GPS dug up dirt for the neocons and never-Trumpers. By May, however, Trump had routed all rivals and was the certain Republican nominee.

So the Beacon bailed, and Fusion GPS found two new cash cows to finance its dirt-diving -- the DNC and the Clinton campaign.

To keep the sordid business at arm's length, both engaged the party's law firm of Perkins Coie. Paid $12.4 million by the DNC and Clinton campaign, Perkins used part of this cash hoard to pay Fusion GPS.

Here is where it begins to get interesting.

#2  Why would FSB dish dirt on Trump if they had also colluded with him to hack the DNC's email? Did Putin want to discredit both candidates, did this left hand not know what his right hand was doing or, more likely, is the dossier a crock of crap?

COLLUSION: Hillary Clinton Set Up Donald Trump Jr.; Bankrolled Putin-Linked Russian Lawyer Meeting
Hillary Clinton along with the DNC bankrolled Fusion GPS to set up Donald Trump Jr. in a large scheme to undercut his father’s path to the presidency, a high ranking official in the Justice Department confirms.

The Russian lawyer who set up Donald Trump Jr. ‐ Natalia Veselnitskaya ‐ was paid by Fusion GPS. Fusion GPS was paid by Hillary Clinton and the DNC.

Oh yes, we forgot to include this: Veselnitskaya and Fusion GPS worked together on another caper in 2014, two years before the Trump Jr. operation. In Russia.

A Justice Department official said Clinton likely never expected her campaign’s role and finances to be uncovered and broke a host of federal laws while trying to get elected in 2016, including bringing Veselnitskaya ‐ who was previously barred from entering the United Stated ‐ into Manhattan for the Trump sit down.

That places the Barack Obama administration directly into this illegal soup.

Are you getting a clear picture of what happened now?

Using research firm Fusion GPS as a buffer, Clinton and associates are now linked to financing a scheme to set up the controversial Trump Jr. meeting at Trump Tower before the 2016 presidential election.

Fusion GPS is already on the legal hot seat for commissioning the Dodgy Dossier on Trump, hiring former British spy Christopher Steele to compile the bogus manifesto with the financial backing of the DNC and Hillary Clinton campaign, as well as the FBI.

But these new revelations ‐ that Fusion GPS played a key role in setting up President Trump’s elder son to make it look like he was colluding with the Russians to beat Hillary ‐ pushes this scandal into a new and more troubling orbit.

Soon after the meeting, Clinton and her campaign flunkies began slamming Trump for his links to Russia and Vladimir Putin, a chorus that continues to this day.

But it appears now this loud chorus was a manufactured arrangement of lies from a paid choir.

Especially since this scheme was backed by Hillary-Clinton dollars which implicates Clinton and her campaign in helping orchestrate the Russian sit down to entrap members of the Trump family.

Perhaps even more alarming, it is now alleged Barack Obama’s Justice Department and FBI helped sneak the Russian lawyer into the United States for the Trump Tower meeting, the insider said. She was previously banned from entering the country (more on that below).

If you are paying attention, this scandal is shaping up into a serious and disturbing criminal plot.

The Democrats and Clinton herself lambasted Trump Jr. for meeting with Russian lawyer The Democrats alleged Trump Jr. was working a backroom and illegal deal at the behest of his father. The meeting has been part of U.S. Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s criminal investigation and Trump Jr. has testified at the Senate level to explain the meeting. Trump Jr., corroborated by evidence since the investigation began, met with the Russian delegation for anything but illegal reasons.

No collusion, as the Democrats have cried out for, has been proven on Trump Jr.’s part or that of his father. Nor does it appear it ever will be.

Fusion GPS has been fighting Congress in federal court to keep its banking records private, battling a federal subpoena to turn over the details of money coming in and flowing out of the Virginia-based research firm.

Following the Trump Tower sit down with Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya, investigators began digitally wiretapping Paul Manafort, Trump Jr., and Jared Kushner who were also at the meeting.

Federal agents previously disclosed to True Pundit that after the concocted Russian meeting, the British spy agency GCHQ could officially justify wiretapping Trump associates as an intelligence front for NSA because Russian lawyer Veselnitskaya was considered an international security risk and prior to the June sit down was not even allowed entry into the United States or the UK, federal sources said.

Veselnitskaya, the Russian lawyer who spearheaded the Trump Tower meeting with the Trump campaign trio, was previously barred from entering the United Sates due to her alleged connections to the Russian FSB (the modern replacement of the cold-war-era KGB).

Yet mere days before the June meeting, Veselnitskaya was granted a rare visa to enter the United States from Preet Bharara, the then U.S. Attorney for the southern district of New York. Bharara could not be reached for comment and did not respond the a Twitter inquiry on the Russian’s visa by True Pundit.

Now, according to new Intel gems from the Whiter House insider, Fusion GPS may have played a role in paying Veselnitskaya’s way into the United States as well as a possible stipend, travel expenses and accommodations.

Veselnitskaya returned to Russia after the meeting, sources confirmed.

Federal law enforcement sources said Bharara was simply following the orders of Attorney General Loretta Lynch, who lobbied the State Department to issue the disavowed Russian a B1/B2 non-immigrant visa. This permitted Veselnitskaya entry into the United States for the sole purpose of entrapping Trump associates to use as fuel to commission wiretaps, federal sources said.

Veselnitskaya may have been paid as well by the U.S. government, FBI sources said. It was reported previously by True Pundit that Steele, who compiled the Trump dossier was paid at least $100,000 from FBI funds as well. But that came later, after the wiretapping was well underway.
The illegal eavesdropping started long before Steele’s dossier. Federal sources said the wiretaps on Trump insiders began in late 2015, almost a year before the 2016 election. The targets then were Flynn and Page, sources confirmed. When no smoking gun was recovered from those initial taps, U.S. intelligence agencies moved to broaden the scope through their newly-formed alliance.

Intelligence garnered from the British eavesdropping, which again was merely a front for the NSA, was then used in August 2016 to secure a legitimate FISA warrant on Manafort, Trump Jr. and Kushner. That warrant was issued on or about September, 2016, federal sources confirm.

It was the third time the cabal of U.S. intelligence agencies sought a FISA warrant for the Trump associates and this time it was approved.

FBI sources said finally obtaining the FISA warrant was important because it provided the agencies cover for previous illegal wiretapping which they believed would never be discovered.

Here is what we now know, per intelligence gleaned form federal law enforcement sources with insider knowledge of what amounts to a plot by U.S. intelligence agencies to secure back door and illegal wiretaps of President Trump’s associates:

U.S. Consumer Confidence Just Hit Its Highest Level in Almost 17 Years
[Bloomberg] U.S. consumer confidence rose more than expected in October to the highest in almost 17 years as Americans grew more confident about the economy and job market, according to figures Tuesday from the New York-based Conference Board.

Jumps in the Conference Board’s measures of the present situation and expectations signal Americans are becoming more upbeat about the economy and employment as the labor market improves and stock prices climb to records. Improvement in household confidence helps underpin their spending, the biggest part of the economy.

The results are consistent with other reports that showed economic activity and confidence are bouncing back, in part a sign that the hit from the recent hurricanes is dissipating. The University of Michigan’s consumer sentiment index climbed in October to the strongest since the start of 2004, while the Bloomberg Consumer Comfort Index is near the highest level of the expansion.

The share of respondents who say jobs are plentiful rose to 36.3 percent, the most since June 2001, while people reporting good business conditions increased to 34.5 percent, matching the highest since 2001.

North Korea nuclear base COLLAPSES killing at least 200 people, local reports claim, amid fears of massive radioactive leak
[TheSun] A TUNNEL at an underground North Korea nuclear site has collapsed with up to 200 people killed, according to reports.

The collapse happened at the Punggye-ri nuclear test site in the north-east of the country on October 10, according to Japan’s TV Asahi.
Oops...
The disaster has prompted fears of a massive radioactive leak which could spark a Chernobyl- or Fukushima-style disaster.

A North Korean official said the collapse happened during the construction of an underground tunnel, South Korea's Yonhap news agency reports.

Some 100 people are said to have been trapped by the initial tunnel collapse, with a further 100 lost in a second collapse during a rescue operation, Asahi reported Tuesday.

Lee Eugene, a spokeswoman at South Korea's unification ministry, said: "We are aware of the report but do not know anything about it."

The accident is believed to have been caused by Kim Joing-un's sixth nuclear test on March 3 which weakened the mountain, according to the report.

It was reported earlier this year that the mountain under which the base is believed to be hidden was at risk of collapsing and leaking radiation into the region.

Experts said if the peak crumbles, clouds of radioactive dust and gas would blanket the region, the South China Morning Post reported.

The Punggye-ri test site is carved deep into the side of Mount Mantap.

Geophysicist Wen Lianxing and his team at the University of Science and Technology of China in Hefei, Anhui province, said they were "confident" underground detonations were occurring underneath the mountain.
Ya know... there is a reason the Soviets and the US moved locations to test underground each time.

Hopefully this caught most of his engineers. :D

Crooked Media Goes After General Kelly over Monuments Comments
[NYT] NEW YORK ‐ If, by appearing on Laura Ingraham’s Fox News show on Monday night, John F. Kelly was trying to do damage control after the indictments of three of President Trump’s associates earlier in the day, it did not work.

Instead, Kelly, the White House chief of staff, resurrected the debate over Confederate monuments ‐ previously fueled by his boss, Trump, over the summer ‐ and the Confederacy itself. He called Robert E. Lee "an honorable man who gave up his country to fight for his state," said that "men and women of good faith on both sides made their stand where their conscience had them make their stand," and argued that "the lack of ability to compromise caused the Civil War."

"Come on boys, Beersheba next stop!"
100th Aniversary of a great cavalry charge
Captain Jack Davies stood up in his saddle, turned and shouted: "Come on boys, Beersheba next stop!" They trotted down the ridge then cantered. But once the startled Turks spotted them and fired artillery shells, they galloped

When they got within 3 kilometres, machine gunners started firing. But they were riding so fast the Turks did not have time to adjust the artillery sights from long to short range and even machine gunners, let alone riflemen, could not hit the weaving horses that had spread out widely.

Then 2½ kilometres out, Bourchier screamed "Charge!" and they galloped full pelt, yelling at the top of their voices.

Manus Island: Refugees refuse to leave Australian camp amid safety fears
[BBC] Refugees
....who according to another BBC article are mostly from Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Iraq, and Iran...
held by Australia in Papua New Guinea (PNG) have barricaded themselves inside a detention centre and launched legal action to fight its closure.

Detainees, fearing for their safety after crowds reportedly gathered chanting "don't come out", argue that closure will breach their human rights.

Australia holds asylum seekers arriving by boat in camps on PNG's Manus Island and the small Pacific nation of Nauru.
The Manus Island centre is due to close after it was ruled unconstitutional.

However many of those in the camp argue that its closure, ordered by a PNG court and initially scheduled for Tuesday, will deny them access to water, electricity and security.

The local authorities said these provisions would cease at 17:00 local time (07:00 GMT), and that PNG defence authorities could enter the centre as early as Wednesday.

Podesta lobby group did not disclose extent of work for Ukrainian campaign advised by Paul Manafort
[CNN] One of Washington's most powerful lobbying firms did not disclose the wide extent of its lucrative political work for a Ukrainian group tied to both onetime Trump adviser Paul Manafort and to pro-Russian politicians, new records show.

The firm, the Podesta Group, said nothing in a 2012 lobbying report to Congress about at least 32 meetings, emails and other communications it had with the State Department, at a time when Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was scrutinizing Ukraine's upcoming election, records show.

The new disclosures shed light on the web of contacts between Russian-leaning Ukrainians, Washington lobbyists and U.S. policymakers during the Obama administration. The Podesta Group filed new, detailed lobbying disclosures in April to augment lobbying reports from 2012 to 2014 that had given little detail.

The firm is run by Tony Podesta, whose brother, John, is a longtime adviser to Clinton and was chairman of her 2016 presidential campaign. John Podesta was a senior counselor to President Barack Obama in 2014 and had previously been lobbying partners with his brother. He is not currently affiliated with his brother's firm.

The Podesta Group was representing a Ukrainian nonprofit, the European Centre for a Modern Ukraine, as it sought to counter the Obama administration's critical stance toward Ukraine's pro-Russia government and Congress' growing annoyance with Ukraine's leaders.

Sailors lost at sea for 5 months didn't activate emergency beacon, Coast Guard says
[ABC] Two Hawaiian mariners who say they were stranded at sea for five months had an emergency beacon aboard their sailboat that was never activated, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.

Jennifer Appel and Natasha "Tasha" Fuiava, who said they left Honolulu on May 3 aboard aboard a 50-foot sailboat, told Coast Guard officials that they never turned on the boat’s Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon (EPIRB) because they never felt "truly in distress," nor did they think the situation was "dire" enough to warrant it, a spokesperson for Coast Guard District 14 confirmed to ABC News on Monday.

The EPIRB -- which the Coast Guard confirmed was properly registered -- would have immediately notified search and rescue teams of a vessel in distress, officials said.
U.S. Coast Guard and taxpayers asked to retrieve boat, photos, and book manuscripts.

In defeat for Trump, US judge blocks transgender military ban
[Jpost] A federal judge in Washington on Monday blocked President Donald Trump from banning transgender people from serving in the US military, handing a victory to transgender service members who accused the president of violating their constitutional rights.

Trump announced in July that he would ban transgender people from the military, in a move that would reverse Democratic former President Barack Obama's policy of accepting them and halt years of efforts to eliminate barriers to military service based on sexual orientation or gender identity.

The transgender service members sued in August to try to block the ban, which had not yet gone into effect, and US District Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly granted them an injunction halting enforcement of it until their case is resolved.

[Townhall] As Jeff Flake joins Bob Corker in America’s political gimp box, perhaps our betters in the Grand Old Party should reflect on how two of their own came to this sorry end. Well guys, there’s this thing called "loyalty," and out in America we kind of expect it. You DC dwellers should investigate that concept in depth, not only in order to improve your characters ‐ you guys love babbling about "character," right? ‐ but to save your useless hides from the electoral accounting that’s coming.

Let me break it down in simple terms so you don’t have to go get one of your minions to explain the big words. Stop taking sides with the enemy against us or we are going to throw you out of your nice, comfy offices. Clear enough for you?

...The loyalty issue is just one component of the massive cultural/political upheaval we’re all living through. Normals are tired of being deceived, disregarded, and disrespected by those in power. Now we’re demanding loyalty, not asking for it. And we’re going to ruthlessly purge everyone who presumes to represent us who actually holds us in contempt, because the feeling is mutual.

murderous Moslem shot and seriously maimed a passenger before being overpowered.
The French interrogators must have gotten useful information from the two miscreants they arrested on October 11th. Well done, O perceptive interrogators!
Police raided six properties around Brussels and "four people were taken in for questioning", Belgian prosecutors said in a statement.

An investigating judge will decide later what further action to take against the detainees.

A bloodbath was only narrowly averted on the train from Amsterdam to Gay Paree when quick-thinking passengers including two off-duty US servicemen subdued gunman Ayoub El Khazzani -- who was armed with a Kalashnikov, a pistol and a box-cutter knife -- as he opened fire.
More specifically, U.S. Airman Spencer Stone, Oregon National Guard soldier Alek Skarlatos, just back from Afghanistan, and their college friend Anthony Sadler, who with the help of Brit Chris Norman, 62, pounded the miscreant with his own gun until he surrendered because he was unconscious.
Two of Monday's raids were in the gritty Brussels district of Molenbeek, which has gained notoriety as a hotbed of international jihadists after the Brussels bombings in March 2016 and the Gay Paree attacks in November 2015.

"No explosives nor weapons were found" during Monday's raids, prosecutors said.

Khazzani, a Moroccan who fought for IS in Syria, has told Sherlocks he was acting on the orders of Abdelhamid Abaaoud, one of the organisers of the November 2015 Gay Paree attacks, whom he met in the war-torn Middle Eastern country.

'Unacceptable': Online reactions to Virginia church's removal of Washington & Lee plaques
[RT] A Virginia church's decision to remove plaques honoring George Washington and Robert E. Lee has sparked outrage online. Some have accused the "out of control" church of "cowardly political correctness."

Christ Church in Alexandria, Virginia, decided to remove the plaques because they "create a distraction in our worship space and may create an obstacle to our identity as a welcoming church," a letter to the congregation reads. The plaques have hung on either side of the altar since 1870.

It's the latest move regarding the increasingly controversial issue of plaques and monuments dedicated to historical figures who had connections to slavery. General Lee fought for the Confederacy in the Civil War, while George Washington, the first US president, personally owned slaves.

Still, the move is being seen as particularly notable because Washington and Lee were regular worshipers at Christ Church. Lee's wife gave the church $10,000 to help begin its endowment.

News of the church's decision quickly spread, and it didn't take long for the Twittersphere to erupt in outrage. One person accused the church of "cowardly political correctness from moral eunuchs."

So the taint of being a slave-owner removes all worth from any other life accomplishments, contributions, or quality. Why Was Obama's Justice Department Silent On Criminal Activity By Russia's Nuclear Agency?
[Forbes] An investigative piece in The Hill shows that the FBI knew, as of November 2009, of criminal activities by Tenex, the U.S. affiliate of Russia’s nuclear energy agency, Rosatom. At that time, Rosatom was authorized to ship spent fuel from Russian nuclear power plants to customers in the United States. Justice Department documents show that Tenex executives instructed a subcontracting U.S. trucking firm, in late November of 2009, to pad its prices in a no-bid process and to wire transfer the difference to offshore accounts. FBI records show a series of subsequent Tenex kickbacks and money laundering transactions. The Justice Department waited until December of 2015 ‐ five years after the first evidence of criminal wrongdoing-- to offer a plea bargain and jail sentence for the Russian executive in charge of Tenex.

The important point: By late 2009 the FBI already had strong evidence of kickbacks and money laundering by Russian nuclear-energy entities operating in the United States in clear violation of the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.

This week, the City Council was briefed by Arthur Espinoza, the executive director of the DC Commission of the Arts and Humanities at a public hearing about the statue.

While the DC Council has yet to approve the statue, the eight foot clay model has already been sent to the foundry where a mold will be created.

Vince Gray, the councilmember for Ward 7 and former Mayor of DC, said he expects the council vote to be unanimous in favor of installing the statue. "It’s the right thing to do," Gray said.

Marion Barry served three separate times on the City Council, and a total of four terms as Mayor over a span of four decades. He was also known for his work in the civil rights movement. He was long hailed as a champion of the city’s poor, and was known for his programs creating city jobs for residents.

St. Louis man, 79, headed back to prison correctional facility for his fourth murder
[St. Louis Post Dispatch] A St. Louis man paroled from prison after murdering three people in the 1970s is heading back after killing a woman he said he suspected of stealing from him at his St. Louis apartment complex this year.

Torrance C. Epps, 79, pleaded guilty Monday to a reduced charge of second-degree murder, assault, two gun charges and two counts of armed criminal action.

St. Louis Circuit Judge Dennis Schaumann accepted terms of a deal with prosecutors and sentenced Epps to 18 years in prison.

The judge asked Epps to explain why on Jan. 19 he rolled his wheelchair through the Lafayette Towne senior housing complex where he lived, shooting at people and killing Tiandra Johnson, 32, in the complex’s office.

Bahrain convicts 19 Shiites as spies for Iran
[IsraelTimes] Court finds group guilty of leaking information to Revolutionary Guards and Hezbollah and receiving 'material support' from the two forces.

A Bahraini court on Monday sentenced 19 Shiites to lengthy jail terms on charges of spying for Iran and plotting to overthrow the regime, judicial sources said.

Eight people were sentenced to life in prison, nine to 15 years in prison and two to 10 years in jail for espionage and inciting public dissent, according to a statement released by the counter-terrorism prosecutor’s office.

Fifteen of those convicted were also stripped of Bahraini citizenship, the statement said.

The court found the group guilty of leaking information to Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guards and Leb’s Iranian-backed Hezbollah and of receiving "material support" from the two forces.

They were also convicted of forming a cell to "incite the public against the government and call for regime change by force."

The prosecutor’s office said the 19 belonged to the al-Wafaa Islamic movement, a little-known group which Bahraini authorities say is linked to the Revolutionary Guards and Hezbollah.

Speaking on condition of anonymity, a judicial source confirmed all 19 were Shiite Moslems.

Dozens of Bahrainis have been jugged
Drop the gat, Rocky, or you're a dead 'un!
and stripped of citizenship since the 2011 outbreak of protests demanding an elected government in the Sunni-ruled kingdom.

A key US ally and home to the US Fifth Fleet, Bahrain has tightened its grip on dissent since 2011, drawing harsh criticism from international rights groups for its treatment of the Shiite-majority population.

In April, parliament gave approval for military courts to try civilians charged with "terrorism," a vaguely defined legal term in the kingdom.

Bahrain accuses Shiite Iran of training "terrorist cells" that aim to overthrow its government, an allegation Tehran denies.

Qandeel murdered on behest of Mufti Qavi, father tells court
[DAWN] Qandeel Baloch was killed on the behest of Mufti Qavi, her father Muhammad Azeem told a court hearing the social media celebrity's murder case in Multan on Monday.

Qandeel had been murdered last year, allegedly by her brother Muhammad Waseem, who said he killed her in the name of 'honour.'

Her parents, Azeem and Anwar Bibi, were present in the court of Judicial Magistrate Pervaiz Khan today, along with Mufti Qavi, who is currently in police custody after his pre-arrest bail was rejected by a court earlier in October.

Azeem told the magistrate that he would not forgive anyone who was involved in his daughter's murder.

He also maintained that the person responsible for his daughter's murder was Mutfi Qavi.

The holy man, however, maintained his innocence before the court and said he had done nothing illegal, adding that whatever had happened was on the record.

Investigating Officer Asif Shahzad asked the court for a three-day extension in the holy man's physical remand, saying that police was likely to get the results of a polygraph test conducted on Mutfi Qavi soon, on the basis of which they would be investigating further.

Three lawyers representing Mufti Qavi told the court that police were unable to gain anything despite an 11-day remand of the holy man and requested the court that no further extension in remand be granted to police.

His lawyers maintained that the polygraph test had no legal standing.

The court extended the holy man's physical remand for two more days, and adjourned the hearing until Nov 1.

'Hidden hands' pushing country towards democratic instability: Ahsan Iqbal
[DAWN] Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal suggested on Monday that some "hidden hands" are attempting to sabotage the democratic process in the country but that the nation would break the cycle [of political instability] "this time".

In a post made on his Facebook page, Iqbal began by listing decades in Pakistain's history that were alternately marked by either democracy or military rule.

"Our history: '50s Democracy, '60s Martial Law, '70s Democracy, '80s Martial Law, '90s Democracy, '00s Martial Law, '10s Democracy, [20] '20s ???" he wrote.

The minister said that Pakistain's history has fluctuated between democracy and martial laws, adding that it has become a pattern.

"Some hidden hands and inertia of history are trying to drift the democratic process into [the] same old design," he wrote in his post.

Bad weather pauses Iraqi combat operations
I guess God doesn't love Iraqi infantry...
Anbar (IraqiNews.com) Iraq forces halted their advance towards Islamic State locations in Anbar province on Monday due to bad weather, a security source was quoted saying.

Anadolu Agency quoted Cap. Ahmed al-Dulaimi, from Anbar police service, saying that sandstorms in western Anbar negatively affected the Iraqi forces drive towards IS locations. He added that the storms, coupled with rainfalls, could cause landmines planted by the militants to explode, which obliged the troops to stop.

No official statement has yet been made by the Joint Operations Command concerning the alleged pause.

Iraqi Army closes in on ISIS areas

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Iraqy army has announced troops arrival at the borders of Islamic State’s stronghold in west of Anbar, ahead of the last phase of operations there.

Sabah al-Noa’man, spokesperson for the army’s elite Counter-Terrorism Service, said, “troops arrived their positions near Qaim ahead of beginning the last phase of the operation of the town.”

Earlier today, the Iraqi forces halted their advance towards IS locations in Anbar province due to bad weather.

Joint Operations Command airdropped, earlier on the Sunday, more than one million leaflets urging IS militants to turn in themselves.

Many IS militants reportedly fled Qaim heading to al-BuKamal in Syria, after several leaders ran away and were killed in airstrikes by the Iraqi and U.S.-Coalition jets.

Targeting Taliban leaders by US to kill chances for peace: Pak officials
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] Islamabad has expressed concerns and oppositions to the US strategy to kill the Taliban

leaders as part of Washington’s new strategy t root out terrorism from the region.

Pak officials have said the government leaders in Islamabad have conveyed their concerns in this regard to the US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson during visit to the country, insisting such an option would kill the changes for peace.

"We insisted that it will be unrealistic to crush the Taliban leaders. How is it possible to kill them and expect them to come to the table at the same time," a Pak official said Daily Times.

However,
a person who gets all wrapped up in himself makes a mighty small package...
in contrast to Pak officials opposition, the Afghan defense officials welcomed the decision of Washington to target the Taliban leaders.

A front man for the Ministry of Defense Gen. Dawlat Waziri said Monday that the Afghan cops will also increase operations against the Talibs.

Gen. Waziri further added that the Afghan cops are currently conducting scores of operations, including Arclight airstrikes, special operations and night raids on Lions of Islam hideouts

This comes as reports emerged earlier suggesting that the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) is sending small teams of highly experienced officers and contractors to hunt and kill Talibs across the country.

Kenya: Chebukati Says Repeat Presidential Poll Was Free, Fair and Credible
[All Africa] IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati has declared that the just-concluded repeat presidential election was credible, free, fair and credible.

Mr Chebukati has subsequently declared Jubilee’s Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto as president-elect and deputy president-elect respectively.

Mr Kenyatta garnered 7,483,895 votes, which is 98.27pc of the valid votes cast in the fresh election held last week and which was boycotted by his main challenger, Nasa’s Raila Odinga.

The declaration process, which is ongoing, started a few minutes to 4pm with Mr Chebukati reading the votes that each candidate got in each of the 47 counties.

The declaration is made without results from 25 constituencies in Nyanza that failed to vote on Thursday due to disruptions of polling.

Mr Chebukati said that the conditions that had been set for the repeat poll were met and that the fresh election credible, free and fair.

Iran censures Israel’s bloody attack on lifeline tunnel in Gaza Strip
[PRESSTV] Iran has slammed the Tel Aviv regime’s latest attack on the Gaza Strip, which claimed the lives of eight people and injured many more.

“The blood thirsty Zionist regime mistakenly thinks that by killing Palestinian youths it can break their will,” said Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qassemi on Monday.

He added that seven decades of such atrocities have not been able to curb the will and resolve of the Palestinian people.

Earlier in the day, Israeli war planes bombarded and destroyed a lifeline tunnel in the southern part of the besieged Gaza Strip.

Among the victims were two senior commanders of al-Quds Brigades, which is the military wing of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement.

The tunnel, which was still under construction, reportedly belonged to Hamas resistance movement and infiltrated into the heart of the occupied Palestinian territories.

Meanwhile, the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas has criticized the incident as an attempt to undermine the reconciliation talks between the Palestinian factions.

The movement also stressed that the Israeli attack constituted a new war against the people of Gaza.

Hillary's body language analyzed: she's squirming. Something is going very wrong for her.
Remember the leftist motto: accuse your enemy of that which you are guilty, it's true, everything they said Trump did they are doing or have done.

Vast Right Wing Conspiracy submitted a discussion of the video from The Duran.com:
Hillary Clinton is frightened of the Trump dossier revelation...and her body language shows her fear.

The Hillary Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee (DNC) are under fire after having to publicly admit to funding the disgusting and discredited ’Trump Dossier.’

The FBI under James Comey agreed to reimburse the Clinton campaign and the DNC for money it spent on the opposition research.

According to The Gateway Pundit, body language expert ’Bombard’ posted a video to YouTube analyzing Hillary Clinton’s facial expressions, vocal discrepancies and upper body movements and concluded they conveyed signs of worry following reports her campaign, along with the DNC, funded the now discredited ’Trump dossier.’

The video was of a fireside chat Hillary Clinton gave this week, where she claimed she didn’t want her supporters in ’defensive crouch’ after President Trump took office.

In remarks reported by ABC News, Clinton said she wanted her supporters to give the new president a chance before they immediately ruled him out.

"You know, I didn’t want everybody who voted for me just immediately going into kind of a defensive crouch," Clinton said.

Clinton said of Trump she initially thought that there may have been a shift from the "horrible rhetoric" and "divisive, insulting rhetoric that had fueled his campaign from the very first day."

[...]"Well that did not last long," Clinton said. "As Maya Angelou said, ’When people show you who they are, believe them the first time.’"

Somalia: Militants Who Killed 23 At Mogadishu Hotel Used Intelligence Service ID Cards
[All Africa] Attackers who stormed a hotel in Mogadishu killing 23 people and wounding more than 30 on Saturday used identity cards from the country's intelligence service to gain access to the building.

The five button men, from the Islamist al-Shabaab

bully boy group, were dressed in intelligence service uniforms and did not draw suspicion as they entered the hotel in the centre of the Somali capital after a truck bomb demolished a well-defended front entrance.

The button men then held off security forces for more than 12 hours, and went room to room shooting guests. A senior regional minister and a mother with her three young children whom the attackers believed were his family were among the dead.

"They had ID cards which had clear information such as names, ranks and photos so no police officer could stop them," said a senior intelligence officer, Col Ahmed Yare.

Al-Shabaab grabbed credit on one of its websites 55 minutes after the initial bombing of the hotel. Sheikh Ali Mohammed, a religious holy man who survived the attack on the hotel saw the attackers kill the woman and children.

The Manafort Indictment: Not Much There, and a Boon for Trump
[National Review] The Paul Manafort indictment is much ado about nothing . . . except as a vehicle to squeeze Manafort, which is special counsel Robert Mueller’s objective ‐ as we have been arguing for three months (see here, here, and here).

Do not be fooled by the "Conspiracy against the United States" heading on Count One (page 23 of the indictment). This case has nothing to do with what Democrats and the media call "the attack on our democracy" (i.e., the Kremlin’s meddling in the 2016 election, supposedly in "collusion" with the Trump campaign).

Essentially, Manafort and his associate, Richard W. Gates, are charged with (a) conspiring to conceal from the U.S. government about $75 million they made as unregistered foreign agents for Ukraine, years before the 2016 election (mainly, from 2006 through 2014), and (b) a money-laundering conspiracy. There are twelve counts in all, but those are the two major allegations. The so-called conspiracy against the United States mainly involves Manafort’s and Gates’s alleged failure to file Treasury Department forms required by the Bank Secrecy Act.

Specifically, Americans who hold a stake in foreign bank accounts must file what’s known as an "FBAR" (foreign bank account report) in any year in which, at any point, the balance in the account exceeds $10,000. Federal law also requires disclosure of foreign accounts on annual income-tax returns. Manafort and Gates are said to have controlled foreign accounts through which their Ukrainian political-consulting income sluiced, and to have failed to file accurate FBARs and tax returns. In addition, they allegedly failed to register as foreign agents from 2008 through 2014 and made false statements when they belatedly registered.

#5  The Podesta Group was hired by Paul Manafort on behalf of foreign clients because the company was perceived to have a direct line to powerful politicians, like Hillary Clinton.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qB-QfLOScjM

The chairman of one major presidential campaign colluded with a brother of the *other* major presidential campaign to enrich themselves by secretly advancing the interests of a foreign adversary. That happened. That's "the swamp" everyone is saying needs to be drained.

The Mueller investigation is no longer a search for Russian collusion with Trump in the 2016 race. It is now a much more far-reaching inquiry into corrupt lobbying practices all across Washington DC, the so-called "swamp". An investigation that is very likely to ensnare figures close to Hillary Clinton.

In press accounts, Mueller's investigation is still framed as a hunt for collusion between Donald Trump's presidential campaign and the government of Russia, but that description is mostly bogus. The investigation has broadened now to determine which people and which organizations in Washington DC have spent years working *secretly* as de facto operatives on behalf of Russian government and business interests.

The Podesta Group is chief among these.

They are more focused on facilitators of Russian influence in America than they are on election collusion.

Ingraham on ‘Nothing-Burger' Manafort Indictment
[Breitbart] Monday on her nationally syndicated radio show, conservative talker Laura Ingraham dismissed claims that today’s announcement of a 12-count indictment aimed at former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort and his associate Rick Gates was a "bad day" for President Donald Trump.

According to Ingraham, if special counsel Robert Mueller had anything on Trump, today’s indictment would have been his and not Manafort and Gates.

"The idea that this is a bad day for Trump because it in any way alludes to a collusion with Russia ‐ you’ve got to be living on another planet if you think that. That’s just not what this is about. And maybe it’s an attempt as Saul Weisenberg said earlier on the show, who is a deputy counsel for Ken Starr during the Whitewater-Lewinsky investigation. He said this is a classic attempt to twist Manafort, put the big squeeze on him and Gates, try to get them to give something up on Trump."

"They don’t have anything on Trump," she continued. "If they had something on Trump, that would be the indictment today. They would have something on Kushner or any of these other characters, but they don’t. So they go for Manafort and Gates. So we’ll see. I mean, we don’t know anything more than we see in these 31 pages, but as far as a smoking gun that in any way casts aspersions on Donald Trump ‐ it’s a nothing-burger."

The incident took place in the early hours of Sunday morning in the vicinity of the restive Khanabad district.

The district administrative chief of Khanabad Hayatullah Amiri confirmed that a number of Taliban hard boyz attacked a police check post in the district at around 3 am.

He said at least thirteen coppers bit the dust in the attack and only one policeman managed to escape the area.

Amiri further added that the Talibs also managed to take away with themselves several military equipment including a Humvee type armored personnel carrier, a police vehicle, and some weapons and ammunition.

According to Amiri, the attack was carried out on Adam Khan security post located along the highway connecting Khanabad with Kunduz city.

Inside North Korea's missiles
Math-free excerpt:
[CBSNews] Before launch, North Korea filed a Notice to Airmen and Mariners, warning them that debris may fall from the sky in a designated area. The South Koreans, in turn, knew exactly where to go in an attempt to recover the debris for intelligence purposes.

To block the South Koreans from collecting their debris, the North Koreans rigged the rocket with explosives that were supposed to detonate after boosting the satellite into orbit, Griffiths says. The rocket was meant to self-destruct, rendering its parts unrecognizable. But that system failed, says Griffiths, leaving the South Koreans with a debris field to collect and analyze.

"This was a gold mine," correspondent David Martin says. "You just get this in-depth, excruciatingly detailed understanding of how these missiles work."

Investigators could also trace where the parts came from. Some parts had a manufacturer's logo and serial numbers on them, allowing investigators to trace the origin and supply chain. And one component, called a pressure transmitter, was sourced to a well-known company in the West.

"It was a major transatlantic defense contractor, one of the biggest players in the U.S., if not NATO, defense market," Griffiths tells Martin.

Israel blows up Gaza tunnel, killing 8 militants, including an Islamic Jihad commander
We don't have an organization tab for Islamic Jihad? Pity
It's a tale of two tunnels, and it augurs difficulties for the Palestinian unity agreement announced to international fanfare this month.

One tunnel was dug straight from the Gaza Strip, which is ruled by the Islamist militia Hamas, into a southern Israeli community. The Israeli army blew it up early Monday, detonating it from within Israel using as-yet unidentified "advanced technology," according to a statement made by the army.

Israelis and Gazans were awakened about 6 a.m. by massive booms as the tunnel collapsed on itself, killing eight militants, including Islamic Jihad commander Arafat abu Murshid and one of his deputies. Also among the dead were two Hamas operatives, who, according to unconfirmed Palestinian reports, arrived to aid the Islamic Jihad fighters.

Cooperation between the two extremist factions could be bad news for the future of Palestinian reunification, a process through which Hamas is projected to join Fatah, the internationally recognized ruling Palestinian party based in the West Bank city of Ramallah.
There are seven dead and 12 injured, according to The Times of Israel, which adds:
Media reports said Islamic Jihad wanted an immediate coordinated military response, while Hamas was urging caution and coordination with Egypt in order not to jeopardize the fragile Paleostinian unity deal that is supposed to be implemented over upcoming weeks.

The Hamas-run Gazoo Health Ministry said four of the dead were Islamic Jihad members, including two senior commanders, Arafat Abu Murshad, the Islamic Jihad’s central Gazoo commander and his deputy Hassan Abu Hassanein. The other three others were named as Ahmad Khalil Abu Armana, 25, Omar Nasar al-Fallit, 27, and Jihad Abdullah al-Samiri, 32.

Two Hamas members, Musbah Shabir, 30 and Mujahid Mohammed Marwan Algha, were also killed during the rescue operation, Hamas said.

#1  Other reports say the 'advanced technology' detected the tunnel. I'd assumed they blew it up the old fashioned way, but this indicates it might be something like a fuel oil aerosol device to get an explosion down a considerable length of tunnel.

I can see why the paleos would be upset, if your nice tunnel could explode at any time. Even well away from the border.

Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff: ‘We Shouldn’t Give Any Ammunition To The Idea That We Are Racing To Embrace’ Impeachment
Kinda late for that, ain't it?
[DAILYWIRE] On Sunday, Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) appeared on MSNBC and told Joy Reid that Democrats shouldn’t rush to impeachment. However,
man does not live by words alone, despite the fact that sometimes he has to eat them...
he also appeared to presume some kind of guilt on the part of President Trump:

You know, I have the unusual experience of having tried an impeachment case in the Senate involving a New Orleans judge a few years ago, and I realize what a high bar it is. And in a Republican Congress, the bar is: can Republican members go back to their districts and make the case that they voted to remove the president because his conduct was so incompatible with office, and it was not simply a way of nullifying the vote because those other people didn't like the result. That's a pretty high bar.

And the president goes to all these rallies to essentially make the anti-impeachment argument when he says, "those people who look down on you are trying to steal your great electoral victory."

My feeling is that we shouldn't give any ammunition to the idea that we are racing to embrace this before all the facts are in. Let's finish our investigations; let’s see where they lead. Let's find out what the president's conduct has been, as well as those around him, and those in the campaign, and then we can make a decision about what the consequences should be.

Zimbabwe: Mugabe 'Tightens Screws' On Remaining White Farmers
[All Africa] Zim-bob-wean President Bob Muggsy Mugabe
Nonagenarian President-for-Life of Zim-bob-we who turned the former Breadbasket of Africa into the African Basket Case...
's government has reportedly continued to "tighten the screws" on the remaining white farmers as it came up with a somewhat "discriminatory policy" that "limits their leases to just five years while their black counterparts will enjoy 99-year-long leases".

According to New Zim-bob-we.com, lands minister Douglas Mombeshora said over the weekend that resettled black farmers will be issued with the 99-year leases "which are immediately bankable" while the remaining white farmers would have theirs reviewed every five years.

"There are white farmers who have been approved by provincial officers to continue farming after satisfying a number of requirements.

"We will be giving such farmers five-year leases that are subject to renewal upon meeting certain conditions at the expiry of the documents. This will enable us to collect taxes from these farmers," Mombeshora wa quoted as saying.

This came 17 years after Mugabe and his ruling Zanu-PF party launched a controversial land reform programme.

Thousands of white commercial farmers and their employees were displaced and left without sources of income during the fast-tracked agrarian reforms in 2000.

US captures key militant in Benghazi attack
ULULULULULULULULULULULU *gasp* ULULULULULULU
[FOXNEWS] American special operations forces captured a krazed killer Sunday who was allegedly involved in the attack on a U.S. diplomatic compound and CIA annex in Benghazi, Libya, two US officials confirmed to Fox News.

US officials identified the suspect as Mustafa al-Imam.

The attack resulted in the death of the American ambassador and three other Americans.

The White House is expected to release more details shortly.

The officials say U.S. commandos captured al-Imam in Libya and are transporting him back to Washington, D.C., where he will be charged in federal court. The officials say the mission was approved by President Trump and carried out in coordination with Libya’s internationally recognized government.

The News Agency that Dare Not be Named first reported the capture.

The September 11, 2012 attack killed Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans: Sean Smith, an information management officer with the U.S. Foreign Service, and two former Navy SEALs, Glen Doherty and Tyrone S. Woods.

Earlier this month, the trial of Ahmed Abu Khattala began, the alleged criminal mastermind of the 2012 attacks. It’s not clear if the suspect detailed by US special operations forces is one of Khattala’s lieutenants.

Khatallah had been awaiting trail since 2014, when US Army commandos and FBI agents captured him in Benghazi and put him on a Navy ship for detention in an American prison inside the United States.
Deutsche Welle adds:
US officials told news agencies the Lion of Islam had been captured in the northern city of Misrata.

Al-Imam is the second Benghazi suspect to be taken into US custody. The alleged criminal mastermind of the attack, 46-year-old Ahmed Abu Khattala, is currently on trial in Washington after being captured during a raid in 2014. He has pleaded not guilty
"Wudn't me."
to the 18 charges against him, including murder of an internationally protected person and destroying US property while causing death.

Iraq bans two major Kurdish TV channels over inciting hatred, violence
[PRESSTV] Iraq’s media regulator has issued a ban on two major Kurdish television channels, namely Rudaw and Kurdistan 24, accusing the two networks of "inciting hatred and violence", as the semi-autonomous Kurdish region continues to suffer from the fallout of the last month’s contentious referendum on independence from the Arab country.

The Baghdad-based Communication and Media Commission on Sunday imposed the ban the two channels, both of which are close to regional president Massoud Barzani
... hereditary head of the Kurdish Democratic Party, maybe a little too close to the Medes and the Persians for most people's tastes...
’s ruling Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), alleging that programs of the pair "target social peace and security."

The channels, however, strongly rejected the allegations and described the ban as a violation of freedom of speech.

"This is an assault on freedom of press and expression," said the Erbil-based Kurdistan 24’s management in a letter to the International Federation of Journalists.

The Rudaw, for its part, published a statement on its official website, saying that the regulator’s decision was a "political" one. It also slammed the move as "illegal and an intimidation of Rudaw and freedom of press in Iraq."

"We call upon the Iraqi government, all concerned administrative authorities and those concerned with press freedom in Iraq to correct this defect as it impinges on Iraq's fame and dignity and it will be a grave precedent for press all over Iraq," said Ako Mohammad, the director general of Rudaw media network, in a separate statement.

, officials told AFP Monday.

The Boko Haram attack in the village of Gouderi was "an act of reprisal. The Islamist gunnies acted after the arrest of a number of their comrades there," a local self-defence group official told AFP.

"Boko Haram slaughtered 11 people," added the official who requested anonymity.

The attack and the corpse count were confirmed by a security services source.

Since 2014, when Cameroon entered the war against Boko Haram, the Islamist fighters have killed 2,000 civilians and military personnel in the far north of the country, and kidnapped a thousand more, according to International Crisis Group (ICG) figures.

Across the Nigerian border a suicide kaboom at a mosque left five people dead.

Five Dead in Suicide Bombing in Nigeria Mosque

[AnNahar] At least five people were killed on Monday when a suicide bomber blew himself up inside a mosque in northeastern Nigeria, a militia member assisting the military against Boko Haram jihadists said.

The leader of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) in Ajiri Yala, some 15 kilometres (10 miles) north of Maiduguri, said the attack happened at about 4:30 am (0330 GMT).

"A male suicide bomber disguised as a worshipper entered the mosque while people were gathering for the morning prayers," he told AFP by telephone.

"He detonated his explosives. He killed five people and injured several others."

Mosques that do not ascribe to Boko Haram's extremist views are seen as legitimate targets, as are people and places seen to be supportive of the secular government.

On Sunday, a CJTF member manning a checkpoint in the Muna area of Maiduguri was killed and another injured when two women strapped with explosives blew themselves up.

A week earlier, 14 people were killed when three women detonated their explosives near the Muna Garage camp, which is home to tens of thousands of people made homeless by the violence.

Last week, at least 15 soldiers were killed in a raid on a military camp north of Damaturu, which is the capital of Yobe state bordering Borno. The so-called Islamic State group, which backs the Boko Haram faction headed by Abu Mus'ab al-Barnawi, claimed the attack.

Mass trial of alleged Turkey coup ringleaders resumes
[IsraelTimes] Amid ongoing crackdown, hearings also set to begin for journalists accused of supporting terror groups.

A mass trial resumed in The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
on Monday of more than 220 suspects, including former generals, accused of being among the ringleaders of last year’s coup bid to unseat President Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him...
The suspects face life sentences if convicted of charges ranging from using violence to try to overthrow the government and parliament, to killing nearly 250 people.

Turkey blames the July 2016 coup attempt on Moslem holy man Fethullah Gulen
... a Turkish preacher living in Pennsylvania whom the current govt of Turkey considers responsible for all the ills afflicting Turkey and possibly the entire world...
, a claim he strongly denies. Gulen, who lives in self-imposed exile in the United States, is among several of the 221 suspects named in the indictment who are on the run.

The rest are due to appear in court in Sincan near the capital Ankara at a facility that was purpose-built to hear coup-related trials.

The attempted coup on July 15, 2016, left 249 people dead, not counting 24 plotters.

Also among the suspects in one of Turkey’s highest-profile prosecutions are several high-ranking military officers including ex-air force commander Akin Ozturk.

Several are accused of leading the so-called "Peace At Home Council," the name the plotters are said to have given themselves the night of the failed overthrow.

The judge told the court nearly 70 terabytes worth of images from security cameras at the military headquarters during the coup bid would be given to lawyers, state-run news agency
...and if you can't believe the state-run news agency who can you believe?...
Anadolu said.

Massive crackdown
At the opening of the trial in May, alleged coup plotters were booed by protesters as they entered the courtroom, with some shouting slogans in favor of the death penalty for the suspects.

Fifty-six suspects gave their defense over four weeks after the trial opened, Anadolu said, and the testimonies would continue on Monday.

The trial is one of many being held across the country to judge the coup suspects in what is the biggest legal process of Turkey’s modern history.

The government has launched a massive crackdown under state of emergency laws imposed in the wake of the failed coup which have been extended several times.

Over 140,000 people, including public sector employees, have been sacked or suspended over alleged links to the coup while 50,000 people have been nabbed
Maw! They're comin' to get me, Maw!
since July 2016.

This week will also see other hearings in Istanbul including journalists from opposition Cumhuriyet newspaper who are standing trial on charges of aiding and abetting terrorist organizations.

One of Turkey’s acclaimed authors Asli Erdogan will appear before a court Tuesday on charges of spreading terror propaganda on account of her links to a pro-Kurdish newspaper.

In December she was released pending trial, after 132 days of pre-trial detention.

Last week, an Istanbul court ordered the release on judicial control of eight human rights

activists including Amnesia Amnesty International’s Turkey director Idil Eser, as well as a German and a Swede.

The cases involving journalists have received criticism from human rights advocates who claim the government is seeking to stifle dissent.

Clashes in CAR leave at least 2 dead, 10 wounded
[PRESSTV] Fighting between gangs around the town of Batangafo in northern Central African Republic have left at least two dead and 10 maimed, aid workers said Monday.

Seven of the maimed were admitted to a hospital run by Doctors Without Borders (MSF) in Batangafo and three were sent to a facility in Kabo, Sandra Smiley, with MSF in the capital Bangui, said.

UN sources said fighting broke out on October 24 between anti-Balaka militia -- a group that says it is defending Christians -- and another gang, the Patriotic Movement for Central Africa (MPC).

At least two people died in the village of Saraghba, a few kilometers from Batangafo, but it was too dangerous to access the zone to get a complete toll, concurring sources said.

Batangafo is one of many hotspots in the violence that has gripped CAR over the past four years.

In September, the death of a worker employed by a humanitarian group plunged the town into violence, leaving a confirmed corpse count of six and 28,000 people without aid.

Iraqi premier calls on Kurdish people to abide by law after outbreak of riot
[PRESSTV] Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi has called for "calm" and "adherence to law" in the semi-autonomous Kurdish region following an outbreak of riot there after Massoud Barzani
... hereditary head of the Kurdish Democratic Party, maybe a little too close to the Medes and the Persians for most people's tastes...
, the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG)’s president, announced that he would effectively step down early next month.

The Iraqi premier made the request in a statement on Monday, warning that the Kurdish people would suffer the most from unrest in the region. He also said that "political differences" in the region would also affect the Kurds the most.

Abadi further stressed that "the federal government in Baghdad is keen to stabilize the situation in all provinces of Iraq, work for the citizens and protect their interests."

The Iraqi prime minister also said that his government was closely monitoring what he described as "attempts to create chaos and disorder" in two cities of the Kurdish region, namely Erbil, the KRG’s capital, and Dahuk.

Abadi’s remarks came a day after Barzani told the Kurdish regional parliament that he would step down as president of the KRG as early November 1 and that he would not seek a re-election after the September 25’s highly controversial Kurdish independence referendum, whose architect was Barzani himself, sparked a crisis with Baghdad and neighboring countries.

In June, the interior minister was informed that the Chinese were involved in preaching instead of business activities ‐ their declared purpose for visiting Pakistain.

It was not clear what the interior ministry suspected them of 'preaching'. The interior ministry had also confirmed the two Chinese had been killed but it was not clear if their bodies have been found.

Supreme Court refuses to hear from man who wants to marry his laptop
[M.WASHINGTONTIMES] The Supreme Court on Monday rejected a request from a man who wants to be able to legally marry his laptop, saying he cannot intervene in the court’s upcoming case involving a baker who refused to make a cake for a same-sex couple’s wedding.
Doesn't apply to me. I'm divorcing my wife and marrying my toaster.
Chris Sevier had asked to be allowed to take part in the case to argue that if same-sex couples are able to get married and demand that Christian bakers make them wedding cakes, then he should be allowed to marry his laptop and demand a cake to celebrate the union between one man and one machine.

He said he asked Jack Phillips the Christian baker, to make a cake for him and his laptop ‐ which Mr. Sevier called "non-secular parody weddings."

The Supreme Court, without comment, refused his request to intervene.

The main case pits Mr. Phillips against the Colorado Civil Rights Commission, which ruled the baker was violating the rights of same-sex couples by refusing to bake cakes for them. Mr. Phillips says the government is trying to force him to use his artistic expression against his will, which he says is a violation of First Amendment rights.

US pushing world toward nuclear apocalypse: Scholar
[PRESSTV] With the United States expanding its nuclear arsenal and developing so-called usable nukes, "the world will be on the edge of a nuclear apocalypse for years to come," says Professor Dennis Etler, an American political analyst who has a decades-long interest in international affairs.

Etler, a professor of Anthropology at Cabrillo College in Aptos, Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party,, made the remarks in an interview with Press TV on Monday while commenting on reports which say the administration of US President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
is working on a new nuclear weapons policy that would end the post-Cold War disarmament and allow Washington to expand its arsenal.

Trump and his top national security advisers discussed the matter in September at the White House, where the first draft of the new Nuclear Posture Review (NPR) was presented.

Arabia
US, Qatar agree to further curbs on terrorist financing
[Ynet] Qatar
...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates...
has agreed to strengthen counter-terrorism cooperation with the United States to crack down on illicit financing of krazed killer groups, a joint Qatari-US statement said on Monday following a visit by US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin.

Mnuchin's visit to Doha marked the end of a week-long trip aimed at curbing terrorist financing. There were earlier stops in Israel, the United Arab Emirates and Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
, where the US in May announced the Terrorist Financing Targeting Center, a US-Gulf initiative to stem finance to krazed killer groups.

Following talks with Qatari officials in Doha, Mnuchen said the two countries had agreed to "substantially increasing the sharing of information on terrorist financiers," with "greater emphasis on charitable and money service business sectors in Qatar," according to the statement.

Qatar is keen to show it is cooperating on counter terrorism nearly five months after Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates and Egypt began a diplomatic and trade boycott of the gas-rich state, accusing it of financing Lion of Islam groups and allying with their arch-foe Iran, allegations Doha denies.

Qatar in July signed a memorandum of understanding with the United States to increase cooperation on fighting terrorism finance and was one of six Gulf nations last week to announce sanctions on 13 individuals said to be al Qaeda and Islamic State

Front, are reportedly in possession of chemical weapons in Syria’s troubled northwestern province of Idlib, and have depots of internationally banned weapons.

Local sources, requesting anonymity, told Syria’s official news agency SANA on Monday that Jabhat Fateh al-Sham bully boyz have a number of depots in the town of Ghazleh and Ma'arrat Misrin city, located 50 kilometers southwest of Aleppo, where they keep shells filled with toxic materials.

The sources added that some of the toxic substances have been made locally, while other chemical weapons are foreign-made and have mostly been manufactured in the United States.

They highlighted that they have "accurate information" that foreign-sponsored Takfiri Death Eaters in Ma'arrat Misrin can produce short-range rockets with a range of 15 kilometers that can be armed with chemical warheads.

The sources also warned that Jabhat Fateh al-Sham bully boyz would use the toxic materials against ordinary citizens as part of a plot against Syrian government troops.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Man raped his mum because he was ‘stressed’ at being accused of raping his girlfriend
Just more vicious nonsense from the British underclass, as described in Theodore Dalrymple's Life at the Bottom.
[RT] A man who raped his own mother claims he assaulted her in the middle of the night because he was "stressed" over allegations that he had raped his girlfriend. The 29-year-old admitted to the cocaine-fuelled attack in which he also threatened his mother with a screwdriver.

At the time of the assault, he was on bail for raping his partner and eventually convicted at Liverpool Crown Court. During one violent episode, sparked by a jealous rage, he hit his girlfriend three times and then began to kick her while she lay on the floor.

The court heard how the suspect forced his girlfriend to perform a sex act on him and then raped her after alleging she was cheating on him.

"It was a nasty, sustained and unpleasant assault," Neville Biddle, prosecuting, said, according to the Liverpool Echo.

While on bail, he binged on drink and drugs before setting upon his own mother.

He raped her at around 4am before stealing her car and fleeing to the Jodrell Bank Observatory.

Africa Subsaharan
Zimbabwe: Minister Chimene Threatens Asian Business Community
[All Africa] Manicaland provincial minister Mandi Chimene has warned Asian businesses refusing to install Point of Sales (POS) machines in their shops, saying "their days of operating in the province are numbered".

Chimene said she was "very cross and very disappointed" with what she described as Indian "money barons".

She was speaking on the side-lines of a workshop to discuss ZimAsset II and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) organised by the Ministry of Macro Economic and Investment.

"I am making this clear today that if the Indians don't want to adopt the new cashless (payment) system by providing swiping machines they should close shop," said Chimene.

The minister also hit out at the local the Asian community for snubbing the business forum which she said was meant to discuss developmental projects being initiated by the government to stimulate economic growth.

"They own quite a number of businesses, but their absence speaks volumes. They own three quarters of businesses in the city but surprisingly they don't attend these development forums.

Afghanistan
Ex-Taliban group member labels Taliban-led insurgency against Islam
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] A former member of the Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
group who surrendered to the security forces in northeastern Badakhshan province of Afghanistan, has called branded the insurgency led by Taliban as a move against Islam.

The 209th Shaheen Corps of the Afghan National Army in the North said the surrendered Taliban group was actively involved anti-government armed insurgency activities before he decided to refrain from further insurgency activities.

No further details have been given regarding the identity of the surrendered Taliban group, apparently due to the security related issues the Taliban group member could face.

The surrendered bad boy has said the Talibs are serving the foreign interests and all their activities against the principles of Islam and the holy Koran.

He said a Moslem cannot become a stooge to foreingers and for this reason he decided to defect from the Taliban ranks and return to a normal life.

The anti-government armed bad boy groups including the Taliban Death Eaters have not commented regarding the report so far.

Arabia
Yemeni unit captured al-Qaeda stronghold in Abyan
ADEN: An elite Yemeni force formed by the United Arab Emirates has captured the town of Mahfad, an Al-Qaeda stronghold in the southern province of Abyan, a military official said Sunday.

“Our forces have entered Mahfad and seized the highway,” Col. Munir Al-Yafei told AFP.

The key highway connects government stronghold Aden to Ataq, capital of oil-rich Shabwa province.
“We have erected roadblocks and will soon start scouring valleys and mountains,” the source said.

The advance was made without much resistance from Al-Qaeda, whose fighters have been retreating without a fight against government troops in the area for months.

A truck driven by a suicide bomber, however, exploded when the elite forces entered Mahfad, killing one soldier and wounding five, Yafei said.

Mahfad had become one of the main Al-Qaeda strongholds in southern Yemen and many jihadists retreated, fleeing the advance in Aden, Abyan, Lahij and Shabwa provinces.

Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) has flourished in the chaos of Yemen’s civil war, which pits the UAE and Saudi-backed government of President Abedrabbo Mansour Hadi against Iran-backed Houthi rebels.

The UAE has been playing a key role in a Saudi-led military campaign to prop up Hadi’s government after the Houthis forced him into exile.
In August, Emirati-trained Yemeni special forces launched a US-backed operation against AQAP, also the target of a long-running US drone campaign.

More than 8,600 people have been killed in Yemen since the coalition joined the war in 2015, according to the World Health Organization.
Another 2,100 have died of cholera this year.

The UN Human Rights Council agreed in September to send war crimes investigators to Yemen.
