Syrian Rapes Pony On Children's Farm in Berlin's Görlitzer Park
[Vlad Tepes] A young man allegedly sexually assaulted a pony of the "Children’s Farm" in Görlitzer Park.

An employee of the institution confirms this to Berliner Morgenpost. The incident occurred on Friday of last week around 3 PM. Amanda F. (name changed by our editorial staff) described the incident to Berliner Morgenpost. "My babysitter took a walk with our son through Görlitzer Park. They had to witness the man sexually assaulting the pony." Her babysitter told her about the incident, and also spoke to the so-called "park runners". She did not want to comment on the incident. The scene was too traumatic.

The employee of the children’s farm tells Berliner Morgenpost that the babysitter quick-witted took a photo of the man as he was committing the deed, and immediately contacted employees of the children’s farm. They consulted the "park-runners" who are there to ensure safety in the Görlitzer Park*. The employee called the police. The young man realized that his deed did not go unnoticed, backed off of the animal, and disappeared in the park for the moment.

The man received a house ban and a police complaint

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Iran building permanent military base in Syria
[Save My Sweden] The report comes amid growing tensions over Iranian influence in Syria and across the region.

Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu recently warned that Iran wanted to establish itself militarily in Syria.

"Israel will not let that happen," he said.

Satellite images commissioned by the BBC seem to show construction activity at the site referenced by the intelligence source between January and October this year.

The images shows a series of two dozen large low-rise buildings ‐ likely for housing soldiers and vehicles.

In recent months, additional buildings have been added to the site. However, it is impossible to independently verify the purpose of the site and the presence of the Iranian military.

An official from another Western country told the BBC that ambitions for such a long-term presence in Syria would not be illogical for Iran.

Its adversaries have accused Iran of seeking to establish not just an arc of influence but a logistical land supply line from Iran through to the Shia Hezbollah movement in Lebanon.

With so-called Islamic State (IS) suffering major defeats on the battlefield and losing its last strongholds, attention is increasingly turning to what comes next and the new map of power and influence in Syria.

Iran has been a consistent backer of the regime of President Bashar al-Assad. Photographs published on social media in the past few days also showed a senior Iranian general in Deir al-Zour shortly after IS was driven out of the town.

The photos show Maj Gen Qasem Soleimani, head of the Quds force of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) alongside members of a militia.

With a significant number of IRGC fighting ‐ and in some cases dying ‐ in Syria, there has already been a significant presence in the country but the question is now whether they are preparing to remain in the long term.

France: 60 Per Cent Rise in Extremism Since Bataclan Terror Attack
[Save My Sweden] At the time of the November 2015 coordinated assaults at the French national stadium and the Bataclan theatre, resulting in the deaths of 130 and nearly 400 injuries, the FSPRT contained 11,400 cases. Less than two years later, the file contains 18,550 cases with Le Figaro commenting: "The file is constantly growing."

The newspaper reports that along with personal details such as name, address, and criminal records, the file contains details of relationships with other radical Islamists.

The report noted a strong presence of radicals in the departments of Île-de-France (Paris region), the North, the Bouches-du-Rhône, the Rhône, and the Alpes-Maritimes (home to the city of Nice, where the Bastille Day terror attack occurred).

Female radicals accounted for 26 per cent of the cases and minors a little more than 16 per cent. Converts to Islam accounted for more than 34 per cent of the identified radicals.

Dubai Air Show opens with Emirates' $15.1B Boeing (BA) buy
[News and Observer] Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The biennial Dubai Air Show opened Sunday with hometown long-haul carrier Emirates making a $15.1 billion buy of American-made Boeing 787-10 Dreamliners, as the world's biggest defense companies promoted their weapons amid heightened tensions between Saudi Arabia and Iran.

Other airlines also are taking part, but missing from the trade show this year is one of the region's largest long-haul carriers, Qatar Airways, amid diplomatic fallout between Qatar and four Arab nations.

The Boeing announcement came after over an hour and a half of delays by Emirates amid rumors of a possible Airbus sale involving its A380 aircraft, a major workhorse for the airline. Journalists asked Emirates CEO and Chairman Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum about Boeing's European competitor Airbus, specifically its A350.

"We were comparing the two apples," he said, but found that the Boeing 787 is "the best option" for Emirates "given its maintenance and so on."

How Vodafone (VOD) allowed elites to reap profits of Africa's mobile boom
[Guardian] Investigation for the Observer shows how deals done by the UK telecoms giant benefited politically connected elites in eastern Africa.
'Politically connected elites' along with anyone else whom might have been watching the growth of cellular communications and wishing to invest.
The spread of mobile phones across Africa has been one of the continent’s success stories over the past two decades, transforming lives through better communication and simpler banking. It has also resulted in huge profits for powerful international companies ‐ and for some of Africa’s wealthiest and best-connected individuals.

But an investigation for the Observer into the African interests of UK mobile phone giant Vodafone, by the Finance Uncovered network, has raised serious questions about transparency and the processes by which western firms entered Africa’s telecoms markets.

Often western operators that wanted market access in a particular country would have to choose between accepting a government stake in the venture, or giving significant shareholdings to "local investors". But how those governments selected their partners appears contentious, and questions have been raised over how some deals were structured.

The Grand Turk
Turkey's Erdogan rejects ‘moderate Islam' as a Western tool to weaken Muslims
[RT] The idea of ’moderate Islam’ was invented by the West and is being used to weaken the ancient religion, Turkey’s President Recep Erdogan has said in reference to Saudi Arabia’s reforms, while also lashing out at the EU’s "discrimination" of Muslims.

Last month, the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman, vowed to restore "moderate" Islam to the kingdom considered to be "home" of the religion. The Gulf monarchy currently follows a Salafist or Wahhabi version of Islam that is often described as being "ultraconservative" and administered through Islamic Sharia law. In what appears to be a direct reference to Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince, Erdogan denounced a "moderate" interpretation of Islam in a speech delivered at the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Women’s Advisory Council on Friday.

"The term ’moderate Islam’ is being lathered up again. The patent of moderate Islam belongs to the West. There is no moderate or immoderate Islam; Islam is one. The aim of using such terms is to weaken Islam," Erdogan said in Ankara.

"Perhaps the person voicing this concept thinks it belongs to him. No, it does not belong to you," he added, recalling, that he was "asked about ’moderate Islam’ at meetings in the European Parliament many years ago."

The thrust of Prince Mohammed bin Salman's Vision 2030, is to socially transform the Wahhabi brand of Sunni Islam, which bans gender mixing, concerts and cinemas. Starting in the summer of next year, women in Saudi Arabia will be permitted to drive. In the new year, women would also be allowed to attend sporting events as the monarchy continues to usher in its liberalization reforms.

Last month the Prince unveiled a plan to construct a $500-billion state of the art city across its borders into Jordan and Egypt. The new mega-city is to be erected with the aim of diversifying the Arab country’s economy and reducing its dependency on oil.

Air Traffic Controller Busted With 'Weapon Of Mass Destruction'
[Zero Hedge] As if we needed another reason to fear air travel, authorities in North Carolina say an air traffic controller at an airport in the state has been arrested on charges of possessing a weapon of mass destruction.

Local media outlets report that the FBI says 30-year-old Paul George Dandan was arrested Friday in Charlotte. The FBI is assisting Charlotte-Mecklenberg Police with the investigation but, somehow, federal charges aren’t expected against Dandan at this point.

CNN reported that police received a 911 call last week that someone had a homemade explosive at a Charlotte home. When officers arrived, they found a homemade pipe bomb, authorities said. Though authorities didn’t confirm if this was the weapon. A WMD is legally defined as any explosive charge larger than four ounces, and in many cases aren’t all that deadly.

Judge Roy Moore Denies Sexual Abuse Allegations, Mob Rule System Will Decide the Truth
[Victory Girls] Roy Moore, Republican candidate for senator of Alabama, has dug in. Earlier this week, four women came forward to tell their stories of sexual contact with Moore, only one of which would be criminal if the allegations are true. Their encounters with Moore happened more than 38 years ago, which does not mean their stories are false, only that their credibility suffers due to the lapse in time. Moore flatly denies knowing two of the women, but vaguely recalls the other two.

The criminal allegation involves Moore "dating" a 14 year old girl. He was 32 at the time and a district attorney. She says they met at the courthouse, where he offered to sit with her (babysit?), while her mother went into a courtroom to deal with her legal matters (it looks like she was there for a divorce). When he was alone with the girl, he asked for her phone number. He subsequently called and arranged to pick her up around the corner from her house on two occasions. He took her to his house where they kissed on the first visit, and on the second he initiated some touching while they were both undressed to their undergarments. The girl asked to be taken home on both occasions and Moore did as she asked. Moore denies this ever happened and claims he does not know this person. The encounters recited by the other women all happened about the same time, when Moore was in his early 30s, and the young women were aged 16-18, above the age of consent in Alabama. We would look on that age gap as creepy, but there is nothing criminal about those encounters.

Chicago illegal immigrants and gang bangers walk freely - Sidewalk texters not so much
[Hot Air] Fines could range from $90 to $500. (That would depend on how many characters in the text‐just kidding.) Who would officers ticket first ‐ texters or talkers? Aren’t there lawsuits waiting somewhere in there for profiling and enforcement bias? And how well will Chicagoans hide their cell earbuds?

"We have a public safety concern," said Ricardo Munoz, another council supporter, "of people being immersed on their phones walking, especially downtown with all these bike lanes and the traffic, that people should be paying attention."

As with many such feel-good rules and regulations, however, there is absolutely no data to support any link between the problem and the proposed solution ‐ pedestrian deaths and distracted walking. It does sound good, though. Why let lack of actual evidence spoil a silly idea that can get a City Hall pol on local TV?

So far in 2017, 27 pedestrians have died on Chicago streets, a whopping annual increase of one.

This statistic has likely changed in the last few minutes. But at last report, so far this year Chicago has experienced 569 homicides. That’s down slightly from 2016’s full-year murder total of 762.

So, perhaps officers will indeed have extra time to patrol each city crosswalk, four for every single intersection in Chicago’s 234 square miles.

Russia Considers Designating CNN, Voice Of America As Foreign Agents
[Daily Caller] Russia is considering designating CNN, Voice of America and Radio Liberty as foreign agents, now that the U.S. has forced state-run RT to register as a foreign agent.

Russian officials said Friday that they’re thinking of making private and government-run American media entities register as foreign agents, which is exactly what Russia warned it would do if American authorities moved to censure RT, The New York Times reports. Such a move could prevent CNN and other U.S. state-owned media entities from operating or distributing content in certain areas.

RT editor-in-chief Margarita Simonyan signaled her intent to comply Thursday, saying that the state-run company would for now give in to U.S. demands to avoid bank account freezes and disclosures of personal employee information. Simonyan believes the application of the Foreign Agents Registration Act to RT America is discriminatory. The deadline to register is Monday.

Olde Tyme Religion
Pope Francis Wants People to Put Down the Cell Phones During Mass
[PJ] Pope Francis would prefer that you let your smart phone be dumb during Mass.

Catholic News Agency reports that the pontiff admonished a general audience on Wednesday, reminding them that the priest tells us to "lift up our hearts," and not to "lift up our phones," to take pictures.

Upon first reading this, I sympathized with picture-takers. After all, many of the people attending Mass when Pope Francis is the celebrant are having a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Then I remembered a simpler, pre-smartphone time when I got to go to a Mass celebrated by Pope John Paul II in the late 1980s. I was there with several relatives and friends and I don't remember ever having seen a picture from the Mass. I know that some of us had cameras with us. What I don't remember is whether we simply avoided using the cameras during Mass out of respect or if we were instructed not to do so.

Small confession here: a couple of years ago while serving has a hospitality minister (my parish's fancy way of saying "usher") during midnight Mass I was guilty of trying to take pictures of the beautifully decorated church and the crowd from the vestibule, and I wasn't even seeing the pope.

While Pope Francis was making a very specific point, there is a broader concern with being attentive during Mass that I have some personal experience with lately. As many know, I have recently been dealing with a faith struggle that I've chronicled on this site. As I have begun returning to Mass, I deliberately chose to go to a different parish of my own precisely to avoid distractions.

I've been at my parish for twenty years and have been a volunteer there almost that entire time. While it is still my favorite parish, going to Mass there can be fraught with distractions as I know so many people and often end up helping out with various things. I do still love all of that, but during this difficult time I simply wanted to go to Mass and just be present.

#5  Lots of college students at my church, a fair number gaze at those little screens during Mass. I visit a lot of churches, almost none have a sign in the vestible saying something like "Please turn off your cell phones" 500 years ago the problem was priests smoking cigars while they said Mass. It's always something.

Roy Moore's Democratic Challenger Recently Ran An Ad Praising The Confederate Army
[Slate] Democratic Senate candidate Doug Jones was already closer to Roy Moore in the polls than most Alabama Democrats get to Alabama Republicans before the Washington Post reported on the accusations of a woman who says Moore placed her hand on his genitals when she was 14. An overnight poll now finds the race tied. In other words, a lot of national scrutiny is headed Jones' way, some of which will no doubt land on the ad above, called "Honor," which he released Oct. 30.

Here's the narration:
Little Round Top, Gettysburg. Three times Col. William Oates of Alabama led the Confederate forces to take it. Running out of ammunition, Col. Joshua Chamberlain of Maine had his men fix bayonets to desperately repel the attack. What brought those two brave men, one from Alabama and one from Maine, together was war‐two sides believing so strongly in their cause that they were willing to die for it. Those times are past, long ago, and our country is better for it. But now we fight too often over other matters. It seems as if we're coming apart. I want to go to Washington and meet the representatives from Maine and those from every other state not on a battlefield, but to find common ground, because there's honor in compromise and civility. To pull together as a people and get things done for Alabama. I'm Doug Jones and I approve this message, because on December 12, Alabama can lead the way.

(Little Round Top is depicted in the novel The Killer Angels, which was made into the movie Gettysburg, in which Jeff Daniels portrayed Chamberlain. Oates didn't feature as a character in either the book or adaptation.)

In an interview just published in Slate, New York Times polling expert Nate Cohn argues Jones should be "running further to the center or even the right on a few issues" to appeal to his state's enormous population of white conservatives, and this kind of thing would certainly seem to fit the bill. On the other hand, as Alabama columnist John Archibald noted Friday, praising the cause of slavery is probably not the kind of thing that will elevate black voter turnout on your behalf. (The state's population is 27 percent black.) And, well, that's probably why Democrats don't usually win elections in Alabama!

Is There Nothing Republicans Can't Screw Up?
[Townhall] If you’d told me last year that complete Republican control of Congress and the White House would lead to nothing getting done, I would have laughed at you. Of course, last year I would have laughed at the idea of complete Republican control of government, so the idea of no legislative accomplishments would have been a joke not worth telling. Turns out all the jokes, at least so far, have been on us.

That Obamacare repeal fell apart ‐ or, more correctly, never really got off the ground ‐ was a surprise only because Republicans had promised it for years only to have it exposed that many of them didn’t really mean it. They were like the high-rolling poker player who’d just had his bluff called by a rank amateur ‐ they’d painted themselves into a corner. Republicans always have been afraid of health policy as an issue, just as Democrats have little to say on national defense, because only a few actually know the details.

Republicans know how to complain about health policy ‐ it’s not hard when the problems are so obvious. But few truly meant repeal because only a few truly believe the federal government shouldn’t be involved in controlling the health insurance industry. The rest think the government should "do something" to lower costs and don’t understand that this is not what happens when government gets involved.

In other words, they campaign a good game about the free market; they just have no idea what those words mean.

There is nothing magical about putting an (R) next to your name. It does not give you character or the courage of your convictions. In fact, these days it is largely interchangeable with a (D).

The trick is to find the Right People and give them (R)s, not just slavishly vote for any simpering sitzpinkler just because he has an (R), or because he's less of a sitzpinkler than the other guy. That's just no longer good enough.

Millennials and people over 55 are renting rather than buying
[USA Today] Single-family rentals ‐ either detached homes or townhomes ‐ are developing faster than any other portion of the housing market. These rentals outpace both single-family home purchases and apartment-style living, according to the Urban Institute.

"Almost all the housing demand in recent years has been filled by rental units," says Sara Strochak, a research assistant with the Urban Institute. She also states that single-family rentals have gone up 30% within the last three years.

This change is unique to newer generations. But when did rentals become so popular? And why are people more inclined to rent than to buy? Below, we’ll further discuss the rise in rentals and how it affects the housing market.

The housing bubble collapse and the recession that followed shattered the decades-old tenet of American wisdom that you can’t go wrong buying a home. Most of the housing market fallout from the Great Recession has finally receded ‐ foreclosures and underwater mortgages are back to traditional levels and housing values have recovered in most places. But one thing hasn’t recovered: Americans’ unquestioned desire to own a home.

Today, single-family rental homes and townhomes make up 35% of the country’s 44 million rental units, compared to 31% in 2006.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Networks Loud on Roy Moore Allegations, Quiet on Bob Menendez Trial
[Breitbart] TV networks have been giving wall-to-wall coverage to allegations of sexual impropriety by Alabama Republican Senate candidate Roy Moore, eclipsing the coverage they have given to allegations of corruption leveled at Democratic Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ).
According to Newsbusters, ABC’s World News Tonight, CBS Evening News, and NBC Nightly News have not mentioned Menendez’s trial for allegedly taking bribes in exchange for political favors once during the whole of the Democrat’s 65-day trial.

But the coverage of Republican Roy Moore has been markedly different.

The Washington Post reported Thursday on allegations that Moore pursued teenagers when he was in his mid-30s in the 1970s and 1980s ‐ including a claim that he initiated a sexual encounter with a 14-year-old. Moore has denied allegations of sexual impropriety.

"In the past 24 hours, the same networks that couldn’t find a single second to mention Menendez in 65 days, spent 24 minutes and 36 seconds on serious allegations against Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore," the watchdog reported.

The crowd responsible for Donald Trump’s election ‐ the pious, self-dealing Swamp Creatures he ran and railed against ‐ have had a bad few weeks.

Their troubles began with reports that Harvey Weinstein has been assaulting women for decades. This was an open secret in Hollywood and yet no one ‐ not George Clooney, Matt Damon, Meryl Streep and other A-listers who love to lecture Americans ‐ said a peep until they were forced to.

Irony doesn’t quite capture the fact that Weinstein and his pals have donated millions to Bill and Hillary and other Democrats so they could rail against the GOP’s war on women. You can’t make this stuff up.

The hiding in plain sight sexual misconduct of other Hollywood figures, including Dustin Hoffman, Kevin Spacey and James Toback, has also been revealed. So has that of top journalists, including Leon Wieseltier (New Republic), Mark Halperin (ABC News/Morning Joe) and Michael Oreskes (New York Times/NPR). The Oreskes case is especially telling because one of his former Times colleagues who said she wished she’d confronted him about his behavior was Jill Abramson; she made her bones co-authoring a book, "Strange Justice," which included charges that several women had not been allowed to testify against Clarence Thomas during his nomination hearings.

...One might argue this just makes them human. Perhaps. But their attitude becomes blatant hypocrisy when coupled with their daily denunciations of America as a sexist, racist nation filled with deplorables. It becomes truly dangerous when we add in the fact that they also espouse a zero-sum form of identity politics and then insist that it is Donald Trump who has divided us.

Dems Fuming as Trump Remakes Federal Judiciary
h/t Instapundit
In the weeks before Donald J. Trump took office, lawyers joining his administration gathered at a law firm near the Capitol, where Donald F. McGahn II, the soon-to-be White House counsel, filled a white board with a secret battle plan to fill the federal appeals courts with young and deeply conservative judges.

Mr. McGahn, instructed by Mr. Trump to maximize the opportunity to reshape the judiciary, mapped out potential nominees and a strategy, according to two people familiar with the effort: Start by filling vacancies on appeals courts with multiple openings and where Democratic senators up for re-election next year in states won by Mr. Trump ‐ like Indiana, Michigan and Pennsylvania ‐ could be pressured not to block his nominees. And to speed them through confirmation, avoid clogging the Senate with too many nominees for the district courts, where legal philosophy is less crucial.

Putting aside its normal criteria for admission, Yale decided that future law school classes would be 10% black, regardless of qualifications. Other law schools and academic institutions did the same thing at around the same time.

On June 9, 1969, California appellate judge Macklin Fleming, a Yale Law graduate, wrote a letter to Dean Louis Pollak questioning the wisdom of the new quota system. Reading the letter nearly 50 years later, one can only marvel at how prescient Judge Fleming was. I recommend the whole thing. Here are some excerpts:

Europe
Thousands of nationalists, fascists march in Warsaw
[Al Jazeera] Thousands of nationalists and fascist
...anybody not a leftist...
s gathered in Warsaw on Saturday to attend an annual "Independence March" under the banner: "We Want God".

The rally, which began at 3pm (14:00 GMT) local time, coincides with Poland's independence day on November 11.

According to the organisers, the event is the biggest "patriotic" gathering of its kind in Europe.

"We expect something like 100,000 people to attend this year," said Al Jazeera's David Chater, reporting from Warsaw.

Organisers later claimed the number had exceeded that estimate.

Some of the chants early on in the day included: "Great national Poland, religion is the basis of the Polish nation, Great Catholic Poland and one nation across the borders".

Later chants directed expletives at refugees, leftists, liberal media outlers, and the US.

A countermarch organised by Antifa
...the armed wing of the Democratic Party...
Warsaw drew around 5,000 participants, according to lidia Domanska, one of those involved.
Update from Ynet at 10:30 a.m. has a smaller crowd count:
60,000 join far-right march on Poland's Independence Day

Tens of thousands of nationalists marched in a demonstration organized by far-right groups in Warsaw Saturday, as Poles celebrated their country's Independence Day.

The far-right march was one of many events marking Poland's rebirth as a nation in 1918 after being wiped off the map for 123 years. Earlier in the day, President Andrzej Duda presided over state ceremonies also attended by European Union president Donald Tusk, a former Polish prime minister.

But the march has become the largest Independence Day event in recent years, overshadowing official state observances and other patriotic events. Some participants expressed sympathy for xenophobic or white supremacist ideas, with one banner reading, "White Europe of brotherly nations."

Participants marched under the slogan "We Want God," words from an old Polish religious song that President Donald Trump quoted during a visit to Warsaw earlier this year. Speakers spoke of standing against liberals and defending Christian values.

Six Philippine troops killed in Basilan battle
[Inquirer] At least six troops were killed and four others were injured in what the military described as a clash between Philippine soldiers and the Abu Sayyaf in Basilan province. The Moro Islamic Liberation Front, however, said what took place in Sumisip town on Wednesday was a “misencounter” between soldiers and MILF militants.

Task force commander Juvymax Uy said soldiers conducted a strike against Abu Sayyaf rebels led by Siar Alhamsirol and Parong Tedi in Upper Cabengbeng village on Wednesday afternoon. He said the gun battle lasted for four hours because the militants were “reinforced by lawless elements."

“As they edged toward the [provincial] circumferential road, operating troops were met with heavy fire by lawless elements believed to be relatives and sympathizers of the Abu Sayyaf bandits,” Uy said.

He said the military launched air support for the ground troops, who killed or wounded an undetermined number of rebels.

But Mohagher Iqbal, MILF peace panel chair, said no Abu Sayyaf militants were involved in the clash. He said MILF rebels in Sumisip were alarmed when soldiers arrived in their area “without any coordination.”

He said, "We suffered one dead and one injury."

Uy did not identify the six soldiers killed during Wednesday’s clash, which he insisted involved the Abu Sayyaf.
Why won't the Philippine military give the MILFs their due?

Artillery fire, Russian airstrikes on displacement camps kill at least 26 in Syria
[DAWN] At least 26 civilians have died in artillery fire and Russian air strikes on two displacement camps and surrounding villages in eastern Syria, a monitor said on Saturday.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said nine children were among those killed. The villages and displacement camps were full of people who had fled fighting in the town of Albu Kamal.

Syrian regime forces and allied militia took Albu Kamal from the Islamic State

Rami Abdel Rahman, who heads the Britannia-based Observatory, said artillery fire by pro-regime forces and air strikes by Russian warplanes were pummelling remaining IS-controlled areas in eastern Syria.

"Fifteen civilians including seven children died in a displacement camp near al-Sukkariyah, west of Albu Kamal, in bombing since Friday night," said Abdel Rahman.

Another 11 civilians, including two children, had died in the bombardment on a string of villages and a second displacement camp about 50 kilometres northwest of Albu Kamal, he told AFP.

ISIS counterattacks Syrian government forces in al-Boukamal
[RUDAW.NET] After a large counterattack, forces loyal to the Baathist regime of Bashir al-Assad are continuing to clash with ISIS gunnies for control of al-Boukamal on Saturday.

"IS has almost completely retaken control of al-Boukamal, pushing pro-regime forces to its southern and eastern edges," reported the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights on Saturday.

The Syrian army had announced "the liberation" of al-Boukamal on Thursday after previous reports of ISIS withdrawing.

ISIS began ambushing the area on Thursday night, quickly retaking several districts in the northern region of al-Boukamal from pro-government fighters.

"It was ISIS's biggest ambush operation, tricking the attacking forces into thinking they had controlled the city," added SOHR.

Al-Boukamal is in eastern Syria on the border near Iraq's al-Qaim.

The area of al-Boukamal had been encircled by both the Syrian and Iraqi armies between al-Baajat in Syria and al-Aakashat in Iraq before they took control of the town on Thursday after several weeks of fighting.

After ISIS suffered a series of defeats in Deir ez-Zor, including the loss of their de facto capital of Raqqa, al-Boukamal was the last Syrian city the myrmidon group controlled.

US Defense Secretary James Mattis has described the Middle Euphrates River Valley as "ISIS's last stand."

The US-led global coalition to defeat ISIS is backing the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in Baghuz, just 10 kilometers from al-Boukamal on the other side of the Euphrates.

Approximately 120,000 people have been displaced from al-Boukamal alone in recent weeks said Linda Tom from the United Nations

Also on Saturday, Iraqi forces and allied militia launched an assault against the Euphrates valley town of Rawa in western Anbar, the last ISIS pocket in Iraq.

The Iraqi army, Iran-backed Hashd al-Shaabi, and Sunni tribal forces liberated al-Qaim on the Iraqi side of the border on November 3.

The major donors included the governments of Saudi Arabia and Qatar, not accidentally, the two major financiers of Al Qaeda’s al-Nusra Front (the Washington “moderate opposition” to Assad) and ISIS today.

Why do I believe Huma Abedin, who has been a Clinton intimate for some twenty years ever since she was 19, is at the heart of an illegal criminal conspiracy characterized as “bigger than Watergate”? This scandal could suck the Clinton-Bush Deep State dynasties down the drain along with Binladens.

Arab Coalition foils Houthi attack targeting international shipping lines
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The Arab Coalition's front man, Colonel Turki bin Saleh al-Maliki, said on Saturday that the coalition thwarted an imminent action to target international shipping routes.

"Houthi
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The Yemeni government has accused the Houthis of having ties to the Iranian government, which wouldn't suprise most of us. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews ...
elements on the Yemeni island of Bawadi were attacked, as they planned violent operations targeting international shipping routes and international trade," the front man said.

He clarified that "The impending attack included planning to use the small bomb-trapped boats and a group of divers to plant naval mines in the ships."

Putin vows to retaliate for US actions against Russian media
[DAWN] Russian President Vladimir Putin
...Second and fourth President and sixth of the Russian Federation and the first to remain sober. Putin is credited with bringing political stability and re-establishing something like the rule of law, which occasionally results in somebody dropping dead from polonium poisoning. Under Putin, a new group of business magnates controlling significant swathes of Russia's economy has emerged, all of whom have close personal ties to Putin. The old bunch, without close personal ties to Putin, are in jail or in exile or dead...
on Saturday promised that the Kremlin will retaliate for what he called attacks on Russian media in the United States (US).

Putin's comments at a news conference Saturday in Vietnam follow complaints by the Kremlin-funded RT satellite TV channel that the US Justice Department has ordered it to register as a foreign agent by Monday.

Putin said "attacking our media in the United States is an attack on freedom of speech, without any doubt," and promised to retaliate.

RT editor-in-chief Margarita Simonyan said the station would register, since otherwise its American director could be tossed in the clink
Drop the rosco, Muggsy, or you're one with the ages!
and its accounts frozen.

She said "we categorically disagree with this requirement" and vowed to sue, adding, "this requirement is discriminatory, it contradicts both the principles of democracy and freedom of speech."

The Judge In The Fusion GPS Case Has Been Booted
[Red State] In a lot of circles there has been concern expressed about the fact that Judge Tanya Chutkan is handling the case where the House Intelligence Committee is trying to pry open the bank records of Fusion GPS to determine the scope of their direct involvement in the Trump Dossier including which journalists they paid to push the Trump dossier story.

Chutkan was troubling because she was an Obama appointee whose law firm represented Huma Abedin and other Democrat insiders. She’s also the judge that orderd DHS to procure an abortion for a pregnant illegal teen.

Now, for reasons we don’t know, Chutkan has been taken off the Fusion GPS case and the case handed to Judge Richard de Leon. This is the PACER notice (Fusion GPS is the d/b/a of Bean LLC, see the last link) :

Why did this happen? One has to assume that Chutkan’s potential conflicts of interest were demonstrated to be real.

Bright Pebbles adds:
Fusion GPS new Judge Richard Leon knows John Podesta.

At least 400 dead found in graves in Kirkuk

Kirkuk (IraqiNews.com) Several mass graves of hundreds of civilians executed by Islamic State were found in an old U.S.base, west of Kirkuk, an official said on Saturday.

“We are now standing at al-Bakara base, that was once a headquarter for U.S. troops before being a site for IS to carry out executions,” Rakan Saeed, acting governor of Kirkuk, said in press remarks. “It’s the brutality of terrorists who executed no less than 400 victims, some of whom in red suits while others in civilian clothes.”

Saeed urged the Iraqi government and United Nations to check the mass graves and identify the victims.

In October, Iraqi troops ran into a mass grave, composed of relics of 50 army and police personnel in Hawija, southwestern Kirkuk. Paramilitary troops announced, earlier the month, running into ten mass graves containing relics of security personnel and civilians who were executed by IS.

Gaem gives Hafter 48 hours to quit Benghazi and hand over to Bukhamada
[Libya Herald] Government of National Accord (GNA) deputy interior minister Faraj al-Gaem tonight said armed forces commander-in-chief Khalifa Hafter should be replaced by Saiqa Special Forces
...Libya's elite army unit, insofar as they have one, formed from a mixture of paratroopers and commandos. The group emerged from a militia with the same name in 2010. It now numbers a few thousand and reports to the Ministry of Defence. It deployed in Benghazi in an attempt to control the carnage. As a result, it has been attacked and several of its officers murdered. The force is popular in Benghazi for its stance against Ansar al-Sharia group...
commander Wanis Bukhamada and quit Benghazi.

Earlier today two of Gaem’s guards were killed and five were maimed when four mortar bombs hit the interior ministry building in Benghazi’s Budzira district. Gaem himself was not hurt. Five days ago he had survived a car kaboom on his convoy as it drove through the Sid Khalifa district.

In a ’phone call this evening to TV station Libya 218 Gaem said that Hafter had tried to assassinate him. He gave Hafter and his sons 48 hours to leave Benghazi and hand over his command to Bukhamada. Posts and footage also emerged this afternoon on social media, apparently from members of Gaem’s Awagir tribe, threatening to attack Hafter and his relatives.

A Saiqa Special Forces front man, Miloud Azawi, said after the broadcast that Saiqa would not be involved in the dispute.

Benghazi military governor Major-General Abdul Razzak al-Nazhuri is expected to make a statement shortly.

Baltimore Mayor Pugh says crime 'out of control,'
[BALTIMORESUN] Calling violence in Baltimore "out of control," Mayor Catherine Pugh ordered 30 agency heads to meet every morning at police headquarters, and to make crime reduction the top mission not only of police, but also of health workers, housing officials and public works crews.

The mayor ordered the directors of more than half of the city’s 55 departments to report to meetings daily at 8 a.m., when they will plan with Police Commissioner Kevin Davis where weeds should be cut, lead paint covered and drug houses boarded up and job applications can be handed out, among other tasks.

Pugh appeared at City Hall Thursday flanked by agency heads.

"Violence in the city is out of control," she said. "I want every neighborhood to know I am extremely concerned and focused on reducing violence."

Killings in the city have surged past 300 this year for a third year in a row. Violent crime is up 13 percent over last year, and reports of groups of youths attacking people apparently at random have dominated recent local news cycles.

Pugh said she was calling on businesses and philanthropies to help fund a $10 million expansion of the anti-violence Safe Streets program. And she extended night and weekend hours at six recreation centers to try to keep young people out of harm’s way.

"We must do everything we can," Pugh said. "We’ve already hit 303 murders, which is totally unacceptable. ... We know we can do better."

#7  Before hiring Sun Tzu, the King of Wu tested Sun Tzu's skills by commanding him to train a harem of 180 concubines into soldiers. Sun Tzu divided them into two companies, appointing the two concubines most favored by the king as the company commanders. When Sun Tzu first ordered the concubines to face right, they giggled. In response, Sun Tzu said that the general, in this case himself, was responsible for ensuring that soldiers understood the commands given to them. Then, he reiterated the command, and again the concubines giggled. Sun Tzu then ordered the execution of the king's two favored concubines, to the king's protests. He explained that if the general's soldiers understood their commands but did not obey, it was the fault of the officers. Sun Tzu also said that, once a general was appointed, it was his duty to carry out his mission, even if the king protested. After both concubines were killed, new officers were chosen to replace them. Afterwards, both companies, now well aware of the costs of further frivolity, performed their maneuvers flawlessly. Interior ministry suspends licences for automatic weapons across country
[DAWN] The interior ministry has suspended the licences for all prohibited bore weapons, through which automatic weapons have been registered. A notification in this regard was issued earlier this week, DawnNews reported on Saturday.

The decision was taken in line with Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi's promise to ban all automatic weapons.

According to the notification, the owners of automatic weapons will be able to get their weapons replaced with semi-automatic firearms or get Rs50,000 in return for their weapons from the district administration.

The owners of automatic weapon have until January 15, 2018, to submit their weapons or get them replaced following which all licenses will be considered revoked, the ministry announced.

During his speech on the floor of National Assembly after taking oath as the prime minister in August, Abbasi had said: "There is not a single country in the world which allows the licencing of automatic rifles for citizens. However,
death is not the end. There remains the litigation over the estate...
If you go outside parliament right now, you will see a private militia."

"Action will be taken against them if my cabinet allows for it. The federal government will seize all automatic weapons, compensating people in return," he had promised.

Roy Moore Accuser Is 3X Divorcee Who ‐ ‘Claimed Several Pastors Made Sexual Advances At Her'
[TheGatewayPundit] "Purportedly Moore’s main accuser Leigh Corfman has had three divorces, filed for bankruptcy three times, and has been charged with multiple misdemeanors. Posts on Moore’s FB page indicate that Corfman, has claimed several pastors at various churches made sexual advances at her," tweeted Newsmax’s James Hirsen on Friday.

She says that her teenage life became increasingly reckless with drinking, drugs, boyfriends, and a suicide attempt when she was 16.

As the years went on, Corfman says, she did not share her story about Moore partly because of the trouble in her life. She has had three divorces and financial problems. While living in Arizona, she and her second husband started a screen-printing business that fell into debt. They filed for bankruptcy protection three times, once in 1991 with $139,689 in unpaid claims brought by the Internal Revenue Service and other creditors, according to court records.

In 2005, Corfman paid a fine for driving a boat without lights. In 2010, she was working at a convenience store when she was charged with a misdemeanor for selling beer to a minor. The charge was dismissed, court records show.

The news comes amid reports that the Washington Post failed to disclose another Moore accuser, Debbie Gibson, has worked as a sign language interpreter for Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden. Deborah Wesson Gibson, as she goes by on Facebook, supports Doug Jones.

Three Vietnamese sailors rescued from Abu Sayyaf
[CNC] Philippine security forces rescued three Vietnamese sailors from the hands of the Abu Sayyaf in an audacious raid near Languyan town in Tawi-Tawi Friday. A fourth Vietnamese man was found dead in the kidnap group’s lair, apparently succumbing from an illness.

The four were part of a 17-member crew of a fishing vessel which the Abu Sayyaf seized last February 25 off the waters of Sulu. Two of the 17 were killed by the militants while ten were rescued by the Philippines in an earlier dragnet.

The Abu Sayyaf still holds at least 16 more hostages, including seven foreigners.

Russia 'warned of IMMINENT nuclear strike' by North Korea on the US
[DailyStar.uk] Russian’s leader was reportedly informed by Kim Jong-un’s regime that the rogue nation was preparing to a nuclear attack on the US.

Putin then passed this information on to Washington, triggering Donald Trump to take a softer touch on North Korea ‐ it is claimed.

Kremlin officials have said they are "unaware" of such a letter, reports Russian media.

North Korea had previously sent letters to their neighbours urging them to side with them in a war against the US.

The revelations come as Putin meet with the US President today in Vietnam amid continuing fears of war on the Korean Peninsula.

Russia's Chairwoman of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko revealed last month she had received a letter from North Korea directly addressed to Putin.

It is claimed by sources that this letter contained a direct warning of an imminent nuclear attack on the US.

Tensions have been raging as the rogue state refuses to give up its quest of nuclear-capable ICBMs.

Trump has eased on his war-talk from earlier this year when he said the US could "totally destroy" North Korea and promised "fire and fury".

His tour of Asia, which has been dominated by the threat from Kim, saw him act significantly more statesman-like than ever before.

The US President urged North Korea to come to table, and "hoped to God" there would be no conflict in speech just 35-miles from the rogue state in Seoul.

However, he did warn: "This a very different administration than the United States has had in the past. Do not underestimate us. And do not try us."

It is unclear if this apparent change in policy is linked to this alleged letter sent to the Russians.

“Since the United States is about to ignite a nuclear war, we will be exercising our right to preemptive nuclear attack against the headquarters of the aggressor in order to protect our supreme interest,” the North’s foreign ministry spokesman said in a statement carried by the official KCNA news agency.

News report from March of 2013

North Korea's rhetoric and threats aren't new. What's new is the US administration's response.

Trump's new message simply is that the US will nuke North Korea if North Korea attacks the US with nukes.

The fact that the administration believes that this needs to be stated explicitly shows that there has been a dangerous erosion of US & Western deterrence during the past years.

The suspects were brought before an anti-terror judge Friday and charged with "participation in a criminal terrorist conspiracy", the source said.

They were among 10 people detained on Tuesday in La Belle France and Switzerland
...home of the Helvetians, famous for cheese, watches, yodeling, and William Tell...
after exchanging "extremely violent remarks" on the encrypted messaging app Telegram, French prosecutor Francois Molins said.

Nine of the suspects were detained in La Belle France, while the tenth, a 23-year-old Colombian woman, was held in Switzerland.

Those held in La Belle France included a 27-year-old Swiss man described as a self-styled imam tasked with indoctrination, as well as a 65-year-old army veteran and convert to Islam, and two brothers already on an Lion of Islam watchlist.

The so-called imam was in touch with a 13-year-old French teenager accused of planning a jihadist knife attack.

The minor, who was arrested in June, was the youngest person to face prosecution in La Belle France for planning a terror attack.

Molins on Friday told La Belle France Info radio the group had "corresponded on encrypted networks".

He said they had been planning "to go into action within the (coming) months in La Belle France..."

Some of the suspects had described themselves as supporters of the Islamic State

The French-Swiss operation came less than a week after President Emmanuel Macron signed an anti-terror law giving authorities permanent powers to search homes, shut down places of worship and restrict the movements of suspected Lion of Islams.

The new law replaced the state of emergency imposed after the November 13th, 2015 Gay Paree attacks, which left 130 people dead.

Two rebels slain, one arrested in southern Thailand
[Bangkok Post] Two rebels were gunned down and another wanted insurgent arrested in Pattani province on Wednesday morning. A joint police and military team surrounded a house in Sai Buri district after the house was identified as an militant hideout. The house owner was contacted and told them two men from Narathiwat's Tak Bai district were in the house.

The village chief and head of the local mosque were called to assist and asked the two men to step outside and surrender, but there was no response. Rifle shots were fired from the house at the security team about 6:30am. The two sides exchanged gunfire for half an hour, and then the house fell silent.

The security team went inside and found two dead men. They were identified as Gadafi Tamasae and Aliya Dahamae, who was wanted on an arrest warrant issued under emergency decree for planting bombs and shooting at rangers in Sai Buri district.

Another man identified as Mahamasamri Tamae was also arrested. Officials said he is a wanted insurgent named in an arrest warrant issued under emergency decree and in 15 warrants under the Crimes Act.

The government official told Al Jazeera that the kingdom feared for President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi's life, and "urged" the 72-year-old to avoid returning to Yemen's coastal city of Aden.

The official also rubbished media reports from earlier this week that claimed Hadi was being held under house arrest in Riyadh.

LNA finally takes Benghazi’s Sidi Akribesh after 4-month siege
[Libya Herald] The Libyan National Army (LNA) today claimed complete control of Sidi Akribesh the final redoubt of Benghazi forces of Evil who had resisted attacks for more than four months.

An airforce war plane flew above the district to salute the triumphant soldiers. But it has been a hard-won victory. After the LNA’s initial attacks were beaten back in August, Saiqa Special Forces
...Libya's elite army unit, insofar as they have one, formed from a mixture of paratroopers and commandos. The group emerged from a militia with the same name in 2010. It now numbers a few thousand and reports to the Ministry of Defence. It deployed in Benghazi in an attempt to control the carnage. As a result, it has been attacked and several of its officers murdered. The force is popular in Benghazi for its stance against Ansar al-Sharia group...
, seen as the army’s most effective unit, were brought in to finish the siege, just as they were deployed in Ganfouda to bring an end to the resistance of forces of Evil in the 12 Apartments complex.

In neither case did the operation prove as swift and effective as expected. It took two months before the Ganfouda forces of Evil were finally overcome.

The initial plan in Sidi Akribesh was to starved out the defenders, whose snipers took a regular toll of the investing forces. A number of forces of Evil was killed and captured trying to escape the siege. Air strikes, which had been part of the earlier advance through Suq al-Hout and Sabri were suspended, a military source said because the surrounded area was too small to be targeted accurately. Nevertheless, this week there was at least one further raid by a warplane.

At the same time, Saiqa Special Forces commander Wanis Bukhamada took a direct hand in the operations. Tanks were brought up to blast away murderous Moslem strong points. Three soldiers were killed and four maimed on Thursday along with two murderous Moslems.

It is unclear how many casualties there were in the final hours of the operation nor how many forces of Evil were killed or captured. There was a report in the summer that leading Ansar al-Sharia
...a Salafist militia which claims it is not part of al-Qaeda, even though it works about the same and for the same ends. There are groups of the same name in Libyaand Yemen, with the Libyan versions currently most active. Tunisia's Shabaab al-Tawhid started out an Ansar al-Sharia and changed its name in early 2014. It still uses the old name now and then, probably because the stationery's not all used up and the web site hasn't expired yet...

Iraqi forces wrest parts of western Anbar from ISIS

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Iraqi joint forces have freed an Islamic State bastion of al-Rummana and areas in its vicinity in west of Anbar, the state-run TV reported.

An offensive was launched to liberate IS-held regions in western Anbar, a commander announced earlier on Saturday.

“Troops of Al-Jazeera Operations Command and the Tribal Mobilization Forces launched a wide-scale offensive to liberate al-Rummana and Rawa regions,” Lt.Gen. Abdul Amir Yarallah, commander of Upper Euphrates and Jazeera Combing Operations, said in a statement.

In related news, a security source said troops managed to invade al-Rummana from several directions.

Speaking to AlSumaria News, the source said, “the seventh and eighth army divisions and the tribal forces invaded al-Rummana in Anbar.”

“The forces, backed by the U.S.-led Coalition and army jets, resume their advance,” the source, who preferred anonymity, added.

The Joint Operations Command denied on Wednesday launching clearance operations in Rummana, warning media agencies from reporting news that harms the military plans of the operations.

ISIS Big Turban and 3 others smoked in air attack near Rawa

Anbar (IraqiNews.com) Islamic State’s legislative mufti was killed, along with two of his companions in an airstrike in western Anbar, Ikhnews quoted a source on Saturday.

“Army jets targeted a hideout for IS in central Rawa, Anbar, which killed the group’s mufti, known as abul Muhajir, an Arab, along with two of his companions,” the source said.

“Abul Muhajir is a prominent IS leader, who is in charge of running the group’s affairs in Rawa,” the source added. “The shelling also destroyed several vehicles destroyed.”

Iraqi joint forces have freed an Islamic State bastion of al-Rummana and areas in its vicinity in west of Anbar, the state-run TV reported earlier on the day. This came after Upper Euphrates and Jazeera Combing Operations launched a wide-scale offensive to liberate al-Rummana and Rawa regions.

Hussein al-Okaidi, mayor of Rawa, said earlier this week that the number of remaining Islamic State militants is estimated at no more than twenty members.

Iraqi forces advance on ISIL-held Rawa in Anbar

[Al Jazeera] Iraqi forces have launched an offensive to capture one of the last remaining areas under ISIS control in the country.

Two Iraqi infantry divisions and Sunni tribal forces are carrying out the operation in Anbar province.

It is believed ISIS fighters are holding 10,000 civilians hostage in the town of Rawa.

Iraqi forces seized several villages from the Islamic State

of Iraq and the Levant (ISIS, also known as ISIS), on Saturday in an operation to retake Rawa, the operation's commander said.

Troops backed by paramilitaries recruited among the region's Sunni Arab tribes "launched a major offensive to liberate Rumana and the Rawa area", General Abdelamir Yarallah said.

He later said they had "retaken Rumana and its bridge on the Euphrates" along with 10 other villages.

Rumana is on the north side of the Euphrates just across from al-Qaim, while Rawa, a small town, lies downstream.

Lebanon asks Saudi Arabia for explanation on PM Hariri's absence

Second son of Rafik Hariri, the Leb PM who was assassinated in 2005. He has was prime minister in his own right from 2009 through early 2011. He was born in Riyadh to an Iraqi mother and graduated from Georgetown University. He managed his father's business interests in Riyadh until his father's assassination. When his father died he inherited a fortune of some $4.1 billion, which won't do him much good if Hizbullah has him bumped off, too.
had not returned to Beirut since his surprise resignation as prime minister a week ago.

Hariri announced on November 4 in a televised statement from Riyadh that he would be stepping down from his post, shocking the Lebanese political class.

The premier has yet to return to Leb and rumours have swirled that he was being held in Saudi Arabia against his will.

President Michel Aoun

In his shock announcement, Hariri accused Iran and its Lebanese ally Hezbollah of taking over his country and destabilising the broader region.

Eight more FIRs registered against Islamabad protesters
[DAWN] Islamabad police on Saturday registered eight cases related to the alleged kidnapping and torture of four coppers by members of religious groups led by the Tehrik-e-Labaik Yah Rasool Allah Pakistain (TLY) and Sunni Tehrik
...formed in Karachi in 1992 under by Muhammad Saleem Qadri. It quickly fell to trading fisticuffs and assassinations with the MQM and the Sipah-e-Sahaba, with at least a half dozen of its major leaders rubbed out. Sunni Tehreek arose to become the primary opposition to the Deobandi Binori Mosque, headed by Nizamuddin Shamzai, who was eventually bumped off by person or persons unknown. Pakistain (ST) whose protests have disrupted life in the twin cities for three days running.

The coppers, who were kidnapped by protesters on Friday night, were released early morning on Saturday.

Religious parties have been protesting a lack of punishment for those involved in making changes to the Khatm-e-Nabuwat declaration for electoral candidates, which the government insists was a result of a holy manal error and has since then been reversed.

Former NA-120 candidate Azhar Hussain and Pir Aijaz Afzal are among those participating in the protests demanding the removal of Law Minister Zahid Hamid over the controversy.

The protesters, led by TLY leader Khadim Hussain Rizvi, have already been booked in three cases earlier for the death of a child, violence against the crew of a TV channel and violation of Section 144.

Today's FIRs were registered under Section 7 of the the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) and multiple sections of the Pakistain Penal Code (PPC) which relate to serious offences, including kidnapping, rioting and assault of a public servant.

Of the eight registered cases, four were registered at the I-9 cop shoppe, three at the Khanna cop shoppe and one at the Aabpara cop shoppe, and TLY's Khadim Hussain Rizvi and others have been named as suspects in the FIRs.

The FIRs, registered by coppers as complainants, claimed that a wireless set and a camera were snatched and police officials were kidnapped by the protesters. The complainants also alleged the protesters had opened fire on them but they escaped unhurt.

China-Japan-Koreas
U.S. Considering Sale Of E-8C JSTARS Surveillance Aircraft To South Korea
[TheAviationist] The E-8C Joint Surveillance Target Attack Radar System is a joint U.S. Air Force ‐ Army program.

The JSTARS is an airborne battle management, command and control, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance platform. It uses a multi-mode side looking radar to detect, track, and classify moving ground vehicles deep behind enemy lines. Its primary mission is to provide theater ground and air commanders with ground surveillance to support attack operations and targeting: through an antenna that can be tilted to either side of the aircraft to develop a 120-degree field of view, the JSTARS can cover nearly 19,305 square miles (50,000 square kilometers) and detect targets from a distance of 250 kilometers. Although the E-8C’s role is to build and update the picture of the battlefield, focusing on ground and moving targets, the the radar has also limited AEW-like capabilities: it can also detect helicopters, rotating antennas and low, slow-moving fixed wing aircraft even though these are partially hidden in the ground clutter. Surveillance data can be relayed in near-real time to the Army and Marine Corps common ground stations and to other ground command, control, communications, computers and intelligence, or C4I, nodes.

In other words, the E-8C, currently operated by the U.S. Air Force through the 116th ACW, is a key asset, that has not been exported outside the US. However, South Korea officially requested the JSTARS system during a Security Consultative Meeting with the United States late last month, The Dong-A Ilbo, a South Korean newspaper, reported on Nov. 3.

"South Korean defense officials, including Defense Minister Song Young-moo, cited the JSTARS as a top priority system with which to cope with North Korea’s nuclear and missile threats. [...] Washington responded by expressing it will to positively consider the request. In a joint statement after the security meeting, the two allies agreed to strengthen cooperation in the South Korean military’s acquisition of state-of-the-art U.S. weapons systems.

The JSTARS, which played key roles in the Gulf War and Iraq War, was deployed to South Korea in November 2010 for the first time to closely monitor the North Korean military’s movement immediately after the North’s artillery attack on South Korea’s frontline island of Yeonpyeong Island. It was also deployed to South Korea during last month’s joint naval exercise on the South Korean waters, along with a U.S. nuclear powered aircraft carrier battle group."

Actually, a U.S. E-8C has been operating over South Korea, not far from the DMZ, for a few weeks. In fact, even though the presence of the JSTARS not far from North Korea is not a surprise, since the aircraft is probably constantly updating the position and monitoring the movement of the North Korean forces along the border and across the peninsula, it’s at least worth of note that an aircraft has frequently showed up on flight tracking websites since Oct. 21, more or less when Seoul voiced its interest in the asset.

Once again, the aircraft could be tracked online because of its Mode-S transponder.

As said, the presence of an E-8 (99-0006) in the skies over South Korea is pretty normal. We don’t know whether the aircraft had South Korean observers on board or was involved in a sort-of demo but what’s really unusual is the fact that such a "strategic surveillance aircraft" could be tracked online. However, as we have already reported several times, many millitary aircraft, including spyplanes and drones remain visible on flight tracking websites regardless to whether they are involved in an operative mission or a ferry flight and years after we started highlighting the risk of breaking OPSEC with an inaccurate use of ADS-B transponders. So much so this author tends to believe those aircraft purposely broadcast their positions for everyone to see, to let everyone know it was there. A new way to wage Psychological Warfare and deter Pyongyang.

Senior Saudi figures tortured and beaten in purge
[MIDDLEEASTEYE.NET] Some senior figures detained in last Saturday's purge in Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
were beaten and tortured so badly during their arrest or subsequent interrogations that they required hospital treatment, Middle East Eye can reveal.

People inside the royal court also told MEE that the scale of the crackdown, which has brought new arrests each day, is much bigger than Saudi authorities have admitted, with more than 500 people detained and double that number questioned.

Members of the royal family, government ministers and business tycoons were caught up in the sudden wave of arrests orchestrated by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, known as MBS, under the banner of an anti-corruption drive.

Some, but not all, of the top figures jugged
Keep yer hands where we can see 'em, if yez please!
were singled out for the most brutal treatment, suffering wounds to the body sustained by classic torture methods. There are no wounds to their faces, so they will show no physical signs of their ordeal when they next appear in public.
...one of the advantages -- for the torturers, at least -- of those flowy nightgowns they like to wear during the day...
Some detainees were tortured to reveal details of their bank accounts. MEE is unable to report specific details about the abuse they suffered in order to protect the anonymity of its sources.

The purge, which follows an earlier roundup of Moslem holy mans, writers, economists and public figures, is creating panic in Riyadh, the Saudi capital, particularly among those associated with the old regime of King Abdullah, who died in 2015, with power then passing to his half-brother, King Salman
...either the largest species of Pacific salmon or the current Sheikh of the Burnin' Sands, Cutodian of the Two Holy Mosquesand Lord of Most of the Arabians....
Many fear the primary purpose of the crackdown is a move by MBS to knock out all rivals both inside and outside the House of Saud before he replaces his 81-year-old father.
First there were the byzantine plots of Constantinople, then the even more elaborate plots of the Istanbul hareem. "Me and my brother against our cousin..." works out differently in the king's house.
On Wednesday night, seven princes were released from the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Riyadh, where they had been held since Saturday. The top royals have been moved to the king’s palace, sources told MEE.

The crown prince’s cousin, Mohammed bin Nayef, who continues be under house arrest, has had his assets frozen, the Rooters news agency reported. Sons of Sultan bin Abdulaziz have also been arrested and had their assets frozen.

Europe
Grand Mosque of Brussels: Hotbed for Islamism
[WaPo] The Grand Mosque of Brussels is the country's biggest and oldest site for Muslim worship. Officials in Belgium say it is also a hotbed for Saudi-backed Islamist extremism. Now the parliament wants the nation’s leaders to take over the sprawling complex that is just steps from the gleaming core of the European Union.

The sudden move against the mosque underscores the challenge for Western European leaders seeking to embrace what they call a “European Islam” that endorses pluralistic values. For too long they have stood by as imams preaching Wahabbism have worked among their populations, encouraging frustrated descendants of North African immigrants to wall themselves off from society.

But the crackdown on the mosque puts Belgian policymakers in the unusual position of picking and choosing among strains of Islam. The dilemma grew more pressing after Europe was struck repeatedly by Islamic State-inspired terrorist attacks, often perpetrated by citizens born inside the countries they have targeted.

The mosque’s leaders “are trying to live in their splendid isolation with a radical point of view, and their aim is not to integrate into our society. And that is a big problem,” said Servais Verherstraeten, one of the leaders of a Belgian parliamentary commission that recommended last month that the government break the Saudi government’s 99-year, rent-free lease on the mosque. The lease was handed to Saudi King Faisal in 1969 as a goodwill gesture by Belgian King Baudouin.
The kind of grand gesture necessary to placate potentates when oil prices are high, but not nearly as necessary when prices fall and the potentate is visibly heading toward bankruptcy. Let us be grateful to the frackers for allowing Belgium such a luxury in the brief moments when they have a government and are able to enjoy it.
“We want in Belgium an Islam practiced by people who respect our constitution, who want to integrate into our country,” Verherstraeten said. “There is the perception that there is something to hide in the most important mosque in the country.”

Europe
EU States to Sign Joint Defense Pact
[AnNahar] More than 20 EU states are set to sign up for a landmark joint defense pact on Monday as Europe
...also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
seeks closer military ties in the wake of Brexit and as Russia flexes its muscles to the east.

The permanent structured cooperation on defense -- or PESCO -- aims to deepen defence cooperation between European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
members and improve coordination in the development of new military technology.

The agreement is part of efforts led by Germany and La Belle France to push closer defence ties as a way of rebooting the bloc after Britannia's shock vote to leave and follows the announcement in June of a European Defence Fund that will receive 5.5 billion euros annually.

The notice of intent to be inked in Brussels on Monday, seen by AFP, includes a pledge to "regularly increasing defense budgets in real terms" as well as commitments to devote 20 percent of defense spending on procurement and two percent on research and technology.
The notice of intent to be inked in Brussels on Monday, seen by AFP, includes a pledge to "regularly increasing defense budgets in real terms" as well as commitments to devote 20 percent of defense spending on procurement and two percent on research and technology.
Goodness. Didn't President Trump demand something like this from the other NATO members? How odd.
"We've never come close to this before," an EU official said. "We have more than 20 member states signing up to structured cooperation. Not just signing paper -- undertaking commitments in terms of spending on defense and joint projects."
Past performance being no predictor of future results?
Since the failure of the European Defense Community more than 60 years ago there have been numerous attempts to achieve closer military union, but they have foundered as member states have proven reluctant to hand over responsibility for military matters.

PESCO includes a pledge that countries will provide "substantial support... with personnel, materiel, training, exercise support, infrastructure" for EU military missions, the document said.

Countries not signing up on Monday will be able to join PESCO later, and the deal also includes provisions for non-EU members, which would include Britannia, to take part in specific projects.

The PESCO drive however has revealed strains between Gay Paree and Berlin, with the French pushing for a smaller group of nations committed to ambitious projects and Germany wanting a more inclusive arrangement with as many of the bloc's 27 members -- minus Britannia -- as possible.

Britannia -- a nuclear power with permanent veto power at the U.N. Security Council -- has long been fiercely opposed to anything that might lead to the creation of an "EU army" commanded by Brussels.

Its impending departure from the bloc has given fresh impetus to closer EU defense cooperation and in March ministers approved plans to create an embryonic military headquarters to coordinate EU overseas operations.

Once signed by defense ministers, the agreement will be officially launched on the eve of the next EU summit in December.

We've heard this song before. It hasn't gotten better with age. They would have to substantially - by which I mean 20-25% increases in R&D and procurement - increase the budgets just to get to the point where they can even TALK to US and UK forces, much less do anything in conjunction with them.

Report: Leb Security Agencies Uncover Plots to Trigger Instability, Assassinations
[AnNahar] Some contacts with the aim of triggering confusion and inciting the Sunni community and the Paleostinian factions in Leb were monitored, al-Joumhouria daily reported on Saturday.

A security source revealed to the daily that they monitored "in the last few days some contacts with the aim of inciting the 'Sunni street' and Paleostinian factions, but they have failed in their endeavor."

According to information, the source warned of liquidation plots with the aim of triggering sectarian strife and creating chaos.

The source who spoke on condition of anonymity did not elaborate further but said that "former Justice Minister Ashraf Rifi is at risk in that regard."

Meanwhile,
...back at the Hubba Hubba Club, Big Shirley was still trying to snatch Nunzio bald-headed. She was already halfway there...
Army commander General Jospeh Aoun has assured that the "security situation is under control and that protecting Leb's stability is a priority."

Since Prime Minister Saad Hariri
Second son of Rafik Hariri, the Leb PM who was assassinated in 2005. He has was prime minister in his own right from 2009 through early 2011. He was born in Riyadh to an Iraqi mother and graduated from Georgetown University. He managed his father's business interests in Riyadh until his father's assassination. When his father died he inherited a fortune of some $4.1 billion, which won't do him much good if Hizbullah has him bumped off, too.
's shock resignation last week, Leb has been embroiled in confusion.

Hariri resigned in a shock announcement broadcast from Riyadh on Saturday as a power struggle intensified between Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. and Iran, which backs Leb's Hizbullah
...Party of God, a Leb militia inspired, founded, funded and directed by Iran. Hizbullah refers to itself as The Resistance and purports to defend Leb against Israel, with whom it has started and lost one disastrous war to date, though it did claim victory...
On Friday, U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres warned that a new conflict in Leb would have "devastating consequences" and said he was engaged in intense contacts with all players to urge de-escalation.

Guterres said he had been holding "very intense contacts" with Saudi Arabia, Leb, other countries in the region as well as governments with influence in the Middle East.

U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson has also warned other countries Friday against using Leb for "proxy conflicts" following the crisis triggered by Hariri's resignation.

Tillerson also described Hariri as a "strong partner" of the United States.

Hizbullah chief His Eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah

PTI MNA accuses party's Ali Gandapur of facilitating suspects in DI Khan girl’s stripping case
[DAWN] Pakistain Tehrik-e-Insaf
...a political party in Pakistan. PTI was founded by former Pakistani cricket captain and philanthropist Imran Khan. The party's slogan is Justice, Humanity and Self Esteem, each of which is open to widely divergent interpretations....
(PTI) MNA Dawar Khan Kundi has accused PTI leader and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Revenue Minister Ali Amin Gandapur of facilitating eight people accused of involvement in the alleged stripping and parading naked of a teenage girl in Dera Ismail Khan
... the Pearl of Pashtunistan ...
earlier this month.

Kundi, elected to the NA-25 constituency (DI Khan, Tank), wrote a letter to PTI Chairman Imran Khan
... aka Taliban Khan, who who convinced himself that playing cricket qualified him to lead a nuclear-armed nation with severe personality problems...
dated Nov 8 requesting him to ensure Gandapur's removal from his ministerial position, and urge him to withdraw his support from the suspects and ask the girl's family for forgiveness.

Gandapur, who Kundi describes as "a source of embarrassment for the party", allegedly provided "support for the criminals in the case in which an orphan girl was paraded naked by eight gunnies" in DI Khan.

"I visited the family a week before and they asked, in fact, requested me to make sure that Ali Amin Gandapur, revenue minister KP, may be forced and asked to withdraw his support for the criminals," Kundi said in his letter.

"After privately investigating the case, the reservations of the concerned family were true. Ali Amin provided logistic and physical support to the criminals in violation of the moral norms of society," he alleged.

"The notorious activities of Ali Amin Gandapur are a source of providing a bad name to the party as a whole," Kundi claimed.

He reminded the PTI chief that "since the inception of the provincial government of KP, we had high hopes of implementing the manifesto of PTI in KP and vowed to make an example for the other provinces of our homeland."

However,
a good lie finds more believers than a bad truth...
Gandapur's conduct has "lowered our heads in shame", he said. It is the time that PTI stands for the orphan girl and provide justice as soon as possible, he concluded.

Imran Khan has not responded to the accusations against Gandapur as yet.

IDF missile defense system shoots down drone near Syrian border
[IsraelTimes] Army concludes aircraft downed above Golan Heights belonged to Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad

's regime

The Israel Defense Forces’ Patriot missile defense system shot down a drone above the Golan Heights Saturday after the unmanned aircraft approached the Israeli border from Syria.

Israeli security officials said the drone’s operators had deliberately attempted to fly the aircraft across the Israeli border, Channel 10 reported.

The IDF later concluded that the aircraft belonged to Syrian President Bashir al-Assad’s regime. It did not enter Israeli territory.

Last month, the IDF fired into Syria, hitting three rocket launchers, in response to earlier rocket fire, and warned that further fire would prompt a more intensive response.

Earlier that month, the Syrian army launched an interceptor missile at Israeli Air Force reconnaissance aircraft, which the IDF says were flying over Leb. In response, Israel sent out a second sortie of F-16 fighter jets to bomb an anti-aircraft battery that it believed launched the missile.
An Nahar adds that the Israelis said it was a Russian-made drone.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Ex-Trump aide Flynn probed over secret Turkey dealings: reports
[DAWN] Investigators are probing whether former White House national security adviser Michael Flynn discussed expelling a Ottoman Turkish dissident back to his country in exchange for millions of dollars, United States (US) media reported Friday.

Special prosecutor Robert Mueller is examining a meeting Flynn had with senior Ottoman Turkish officials weeks after Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
won the presidential race last year, NBC News and the Wall Street Journal reported.

The meeting allegedly discussed a secret payout of up to $15 million dollars if, once in office, Flynn would engineer the deportation to The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
of Fethullah Gulen
... a Turkish preacher living in Pennsylvania whom the current govt of Turkey considers responsible for all the ills afflicting Turkey and possibly the entire world...
, a political rival to Ottoman Turkish President Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him...
, as well as help free Erdogan-linked Iranian-Ottoman Turkish businessman Reza Zarrab from prison.

NBC and the WSJ both cited multiple people familiar with the probe by Mueller, who is leading the investigation into whether members of Trump's campaign colluded with Russian meddling in the election.

According to the sources, Mueller recently interviewed witnesses over the December 2016 meeting between the Ottoman Turkish officials and Flynn at the swanky 21 Club in New York City.

"Under the alleged proposal, Mr. Flynn and his son, Michael Flynn Jr, were to be paid as much as $15m for delivering Fethullah Gulen to the Ottoman Turkish government, according to people with knowledge of discussions Mr. Flynn had with Ottoman Turkish representatives," the WSJ said.

Hurriet Daily News - Turkish Embassy in US slams alleged kidnapping of Gülen plot

The Turkish Embassy in Washington on Nov. 11 denied allegations that Turkey would use unlawful ways for the extradition of Fethullah Gülen, the U.S based-leader of the Fethullahist Terrorist Organization (FETÖ).

“All allegations that Turkey would resort to means external to the rule of law for Gülen’s extradition are utterly false, ludicrous and groundless,” a statement released by the embassy said.

The Gülen network is widely believed to have orchestrated the July 15, 2016, coup attempt which left 250 people killed and nearly 2,200 injured.

“The fact that Fethullah Gülen, who is the mastermind behind all these crimes, continues to find refuge in the United States remains, perplexing and deeply frustrating for the Turkish people,” it said.

The statement added that the Turkish government and its people want the immediate extradition of Gülen from the U.S. to Turkey so he can stand trial.
