Former intelligence chiefs Brennan, Clapper unload on Trump
[Wash Times] Two disaffected former U.S. intelligence chiefs on Sunday accused President Trump of being "played" by Russia after Mr. Trump said he accepted Russian President Vladimir Putin’s latest denials of Moscow’s meddling in the 2016 election.

Former CIA Director John O. Brennan and ex-Director of National Intelligence James R. Clapper, both of whom parted ways with the administration this year and have been called "hacks" by Mr. Trump, said the president is showing a gullibility about Russia’s interference that puts national security in peril.

"By not confronting the issue directly and not acknowledging to Putin, ’We know that you’re responsible for this,’ I think he’s giving Putin a pass," Mr. Brennan said on CNN’s "State of the Union."

"I think it demonstrates to Mr. Putin that Donald Trump can be played by foreign leaders who are going to appeal to his ego and try to play upon his insecurities, which is very, very worrisome from a national security standpoint," Mr Brennan said.

Mr. Clapper said the president, who is nearing the end of a 12-day trip through Asia, is showing weakness in front of other world leaders.

"He seems very susceptible to rolling out the red carpet, honor guards and all the trappings and pomp and circumstance that come with the office," Mr. Clapper said on CNN. "I think that appeals to him and it plays to his insecurities. Yes, I do think that both the Chinese and the Russians can play him."

Attempt at Unassisted Human Flight Appears to Have Ended Life of Henry Badenhorst
[BBC] The founder of groundbreaking dating site Gaydar has died in his native South Africa.

Henry Badenhorst, 51, died after falling from a tower block on Saturday, news website Buzzfeed reported.

He died a decade after his co-founder and former partner Gary Frisch fell to his death in London.

The two created Gaydar, which became the world's largest dating site for gay and bisexual men, in 1999 when a friend said he was too busy to find a partner.

Mr Badenhorst told the Guardian in 2009: "We put him on Excite [a search engine], which had a dating section where you could upload a picture. But it took two weeks for him to get a response, so we said that we were sure we could create something specifically for the gay market."

Africa's only gay radio station makes waves. At one time Gaydar boasted more than four million subscribers. The founders would go on to launch an award-winning radio station.

As a result, Mr Badenhorst, who was born in Johannesburg, was named in the top five of the Independent's Pink List of influential gay men and women at least twice in the mid-2000s.

Mr Badenhorst and Mr Frisch split in 2005, but continued as business partners until the latter's death two years later.

Paying tribute to Mr Badenhorst, Gaydar's current managing director Rob Curtis said: "Eighteen years ago, Henry and his partner Gary revolutionised the way that gay men meet, and in doing so created a safer environment for LGBT people everywhere.

"The Gaydar team is shocked and saddened to hear of Henry's passing and send our sincerest sympathies to Henry's friends and family."

The exact details surrounding Mr Badenhorst's death remain unclear.

Army lifts ban on waivers for recruits with history of some mental health issues
[USA Today] WASHINGTON ‐ People with a history of "self-mutilation," bipolar disorder, depression and drug and alcohol abuse can now seek waivers to join the Army under an unannounced policy enacted in August, according to documents obtained by USA TODAY.

The decision to open Army recruiting to those with mental health conditions comes as the service faces the challenging goal of recruiting 80,000 new soldiers through September 2018. To meet last year's goal of 69,000, the Army accepted more recruits who fared poorly on aptitude tests, increased the number of waivers granted for marijuana use and offered hundreds of millions of dollars in bonuses.

Expanding the waivers for mental health is possible in part because the Army now has access to more medical information about each potential recruit, Lt. Col. Randy Taylor, an Army spokesman, said in a statement. The Army issued the ban on waivers in 2009 amid an epidemic of suicides among troops.

"The decision was primarily due to the increased availability of medical records and other data which is now more readily available," Taylor's statement to USA TODAY said. "These records allow Army officials to better document applicant medical histories."

Lawfare: Palestinians Fear IDF Has New Legal Tool To Ease West Bank Evictions
[Jpost] Palestinians fear that the IDF has a new legal tool that would make it easier for Israel to demolish illegal structures in Area C of the West Bank, attorney Tawfiq Jabareen told The Jerusalem Post on Sunday.

Jabareen represents two illegally built Palestinian herding villages in the Jordan Valley, Ein Hilweh and Umm Jamal, which are under threat of IDF demolition.

Jabareen has sent a formal appeal to the Military Magistrate- General’s Office on behalf of the villages’ 300 residents.

At issue is not just the potential loss of their modular homes, but the use of what Jabareen has described as a new legal tool that could make it easier for the Civil Administration of Judea and Samaria to demolish unauthorized Palestinian structures in the future.

The order, signed by OC Central Command Maj.-Gen. Roni Numa and dated November 1, was not hand-delivered to the village, Jabareen said. It was posted on a road near the villages where it was discovered only on Thursday morning.

This specific type of order was created in 2003 to allow the Civil Administration to demolish settler outposts, Jabareen said. At the time it was not intended for use against Palestinians.

The use of this order was amended in 2015 and has now been used for the first time against Palestinians, he continued.

If its use is upheld, it would make it easier for the IDF to evict Palestinians in other cases in the West Bank.
Hopefully, one day all the "Palestinians" will return to whence their ancestors came from during the British mandate

1986 letter by Prince Charles blames 'foreign Jews' for Mideast troubles
A 31-year-old letter penned by a young Prince Charles has stirred controversy for suggesting that "foreign Jews" were to blame, in part, for the troubles of the Middle East.

The letter, which was released by The Daily Mail on Saturday, also includes suggestions that the US should deal with the "Jewish lobby," a term considered by some to be antisemitic in its conflation with age-old tropes about the wealth and power of Jews. Charles penned it immediately after returning from an official visit to Saudi Arabia with his then-wife Princess Diana.

"I now begin to understand better their [Arabs’] point of view about Israel. Never realized they see it as a US colony. I now appreciate that Arabs and Jews were all a Semitic people originally and it is the influx of foreign, European Jews (especially from Poland, they say) which has helped to cause great problems. I know there are so many complex issues, but how can there ever be an end to terrorism unless the causes are eliminated?" Charles wrote.

#4  You know, sometimes I think this hatred of Jews is some kind of genetic defect. But then when the Warmers showed up, it became obvious that many people really are just that stupid. When you look at hatred for Israel and Jews, there's no logical reason for a hatred that specific. And yet this disease infests itself in every people it seems. But when you realize that evil is real and does exists, it provides the most rational explanation.

That will never happen. He has waited his entire life to take the top spot, but his mum long ago promised to die in harness rather than retire... and she comes from long-lived stock. Pushing back against #MeToo, Israeli NGO seeks gag order on sexual harassment
[Jpost] An NGO is pushing back against the #MeToo movement, which began with women speaking out publicly about their experiences of sexual assault and harassment, and seems to have spurred a trend of public ousting of harassers.

In response, this Israeli NGO is seeking a gag order on claims regarding incidents which took place 14 years or more in the past.

On Sunday, the Movement for Diverse Equality appealed to Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked to endorse its initiative for new legislation regarding sexual harassment.

Since the #MeToo movement became a widespread phenomenon, a debate has resurfaced in Israel about extending the statute of limitations for criminally investigating sexual harassers.

Currently, depending on the crime, there are different time limits about how long after an incident that an alleged offender can be criminally investigated for sexual harassment, but in Israel the longest time, for the most serious offenses, is 10 years.

Britain has no limit, while the US has different limits in different states, varying from a few years to 30 years.

The NGO is calling on Israel’s sexual harassment limit to be raised to 14 years, as many officials have called for, but is also asking that there be a gag order against "informal trials by media," meaning that women could not name harassers publicly after 14 years.

Movement for Diverse Equality chairwoman Hila Shai Vazan said the gag order part of her initiative would "ensure that the trials be in court."

'Bill and Melinda' buy big chunk of land in Arizona to build 'smart city'
[News12] PHOENIX - One of Bill Gates' investment firms has spent $80 million to kickstart the development of a brand-new community in the far West Valley.

The large plot of land is about 45 minutes west of downtown Phoenix off I-10 near Tonopah.

The proposed community, made up of close to 25,000 acres of land, is called Airstrip One Belmont. According to Belmont Partners, a real estate investment group based in Arizona, the goal is to turn the land into its own "smart city."

"Belmont will create a forward-thinking community with a communication and infrastructure spine that embraces cutting-edge technology, designed around high-speed digital networks, data centers, new manufacturing technologies and distribution models, autonomous vehicles and autonomous logistics hubs," Belmont Partners said in a news release.

John Brennan: 'Foreign Leaders Manipulating Trump's Insecurities Is National Security Issue'
[Daily Caller] Former CIA Director John Brennan said Sunday it’s "worrisome" that foreign leaders are able to manipulate President Donald Trump by playing on his ego and insecurities.

Brennan blasted Trump Sunday on CNN’s "State of the Union" for attempting to downplay the conclusions reached by the U.S. intelligence community, namely that Russia interfered in the 2016 presidential election for the purpose of backing Trump.

For Brennan, such flip-flops by Trump on whether Russia did or did not intervene are a function of foreign leaders playing Trump’s ego and insecurities.

"By not confronting the issue directly and not acknowledging to Putin that we know you are responsible for this, I think he’s giving Putin a pass," Brennan said, according to The Washington Examiner. "It demonstrates to Mr. Putin that Donald Trump can be played by foreign leaders who are going to appeal to his ego and to try to play upon his insecurities which is very very worrisome from a national security standpoint."

Frederica Wilson thanks Al Sharpton for helping community 'heal' after giving speech in which he sniped at Trump
[WASHINGTONEXAMINER] Rep. Frederica Wilson, D-Fla., thanked civil rights hustler Al Sharpton
...Tawana Brawley's spiritual advisor...
for helping her community "heal" after he spoke at prayer service Friday with the family of Sgt. La David Johnson, one of four U.S. soldiers killed during an ambush in Niger last month.

Sharpton, who is the president of National Action Network, delivered the keynote address and touched on the infamous phone call between Johnson's widow, Myeshia Johnson, and President Trump, which Wilson listened in on and described Trump as being insensitive ‐ a claim backed up by Myeshia Johnson but disputed by the White House.

"To act like she did something wrong, to stand up for a soldier killed in the line of duty ... I can't understand how we can even rationalize that," Sharpton told the congregation gathered at a church in Miami. He also spoke about the threats Wilson has received ever since her public feud with Trump began.

"Did you think that you could come after Frederica Wilson and we wouldn't stand there and say, 'we will give in,'" he said to cheers.

Hebron brothers get life in prison for sniper spree
[IsraelTimes] Nasser and Akram Badawi, convicted of 12 counts of attempted murder, to pay NIS 60,000 ($17K) to their 4 victims

A military court on Sunday sentenced two Hebron brothers to life in prison for a series of sniper attacks on Israeli soldiers and civilians in the West Bank, the army said.

From November 2015 to January 2016, Nasser and Akram Badawi committed a number of shooting attacks in Hebron and the surrounding area, injuring two civilians and two IDF soldiers.

They were tossed in the clink
Book 'im, Mahmoud!
by Israeli security forces in January 2016 and convicted of 12 counts of attempted murder, as well as other security violations. According to the Shin Bet security service, the younger brother, Nasser, is a member of Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth",.

In addition to their life sentences, the Badawi brothers were ordered to pay a total of NIS 60,000 ($17,000) to their victims, the army said.

On November 6, 2015, Nasser and Akram met on the third floor of a building owned by their father near the Tomb of the Patriarchs in Hebron. From that vantage point, Nasser, 23, and Akram, 33, fired into a group of Jewish Israelis who were praying near the holy site, injuring two of them, one seriously and the other lightly.

"After carrying out the attack, the two then went on to their cousin’s wedding celebration," the Shin Bet said last year, citing their confession.

The Badawi brothers decided to carry out their sniper attacks as a form of Dire Revenge for the killing of an elderly Hebron resident who was shot as she allegedly attempted to carry out a car ramming attack at the nearby Halhul Junction earlier that day, Nasser told Sherlocks.

On January 3, 2016, Nasser returned to the same apartment with the sniper rifle, which was later confiscated by the Shin Bet, and shot at a group of soldiers, hitting a female cadet in the pelvis and seriously injuring her, according to the security service.

Later that day, the two brothers traveled to the nearby Kvasim Junction, where Akram again fired at a group of soldiers, lightly wounding one.

Six days later, Nasser was arrested and questioned about his involvement in the attacks. To throw off suspicion, Akram carried out another shooting on January 16, though no one was injured in the attempt, the Shin Bet said.

A short while later, Akram was arrested as well.

In addition to the attacks that resulted in injuries, the brothers are also suspected of having carried out a number of shootings against groups of Israeli soldiers in Hebron and against nearby military outposts, in which no one was hurt, the Shin Bet said.

During their confessions, the brothers told their interrogators they’d learned how to silence the sniper rifle using an old oil filter by watching videos on the Internet, the Shin Bet said.

"The IDF will continue to work to provide security to Judea and Samaria and will bring terrorist operatives to justice," the military says in a statement, using the biblical term for the West Bank.

...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
’s presidency.

Back in February, the city tourism agency said Trump’s "travel ban and related rhetoric" would mean a drop of 300,000 visitors this year. But the NYC & Co. prophecy proved false.

Of course, other predictions were more dire ‐ particularly those about the stock market.

Finance expert Steve Rattner foresaw "a market crash of historic proportions" under a President Trump. Moody’s warned of a "weaker" economy. Many said 2 percent GDP growth was the best that could be hoped for.

Other doomsayers included Mark Cuban, CNBC’s Andrew Ross Sorkin and firms such as Bridgewater Associates and Macroeconomic Advisers. (A less-dishonorable mention goes to Nobel-winning economist Paul Krugman, who at least walked back his doomsaying about "a global recession, with no end in sight," soon after election night.)

In fact, the Dow has climbed more than 25 percent since Perennial Presidential Campaigner Hillary Crooked Hillary Clinton
... former first lady, former secretary of state, former presidential candidate, Conqueror of Benghazi, Heroine of Tuzla, formerly described by her supporters as the smartest woman in the world, usually described by the rest of us as The Thing That Wouldn't Go Away...
conceded. And the first two full quarters of Trump’s term both saw growth of 3 percent or more. Oops.

More recently, Trump’s cutbacks of money to help folks sign up for ObamaCare brought warnings that enrollment would surely plummet. Hah! Over the first few days of open enrollment this year, a record number of people signed up, The Hill reported Tuesday.

The first day alone saw 200,000 sign-ups, twice last year’s number, and more than 1 million visited healthcare.gov, versus 750,000 in 2016.

As for all the noise about fascism
...a political system developed in Italy symbolized by the Roman fasces -- thin reeds, each flimsy in itself but unbreakable when bound into a bundle. The word is nowadays thrown around by all sorts of people who have no idea what they're talking about...
and tyranny: Trump has scrupulously obeyed the law, even as judges came up with unprecedented legal theories to strike down his "travel ban" executive orders.

None of this guarantees that the markets won’t turn south eventually, or that ObamaCare won’t run into the rocks. But it does tell you that talk of Trump-fueled armageddon is partisan hysteria, unhinged from reality.

33,293 migrants died en route to Europe — report
[IsraelTimes] The German paper Der Tagesspiegel publishes a list of 33,293 people who it says died while trying to immigrate to Europe.

The list is 46 pages long and covers the period from 1993 to May 29, 2017. The newspaper cites the victims’ names, ages, countries of origin, circumstances, date of death and the source of information. Often, the names are not given because the dead were not identified.

One listing said Iraqi migrant Talat Abdulhamid, 36, froze to death on January 6 after walking for 48 hours through the mountains on the Ottoman Turkish-Bulgarian border.

Another says a 15-year-old boy drowned and 23 others survived on November 15, 2016, when their rubber dinghy sunk en route from Libya to Europe, according to the UN refugee agency.

Detroit police officers fight each other in undercover operation gone wrong
[FoxNews] A case of the good guys going after the good guys.

There is now an Detroit Police Department internal investigation into two different precincts getting into their own turf war as they converge on an east side neighborhood.

Neighbors who live on Andover on Detroit's east side will be the first to tell you this area is known for constant drug activity.

"(It is) definitely drug problem for years, it has been a drug problem," said one resident. "I don't think anyone can stop it."

On Thursday Detroit police certainly tried, but maybe too hard.

Sources say it started when two special ops officers from the 12th Precinct were operating a "push off" on Andover near Seven Mile. That is when two undercover officers pretend to be dope dealers, waiting for eager customers to approach, arresting potential buyers and seizing their vehicles.

But this time instead of customers - special ops officers from the 11th Precinct showed up. Not realizing they were fellow officers, they ordered the other undercover officers to the ground.

FOX 2 is told the rest of the special ops team from the 12th Precinct showed up, and officers began raiding the drug house in the 19300 block of Andover. But instead of fighting crime, officers from both precincts began fighting with each other.

Sources say guns were drawn and punches were thrown while the homeowner stood and watched. The department's top cops were notified along with Internal Affairs. One officer was taken to the hospital.

Each officer involved is now under investigation - as the department tried to determine what went wrong.

Egypt says its warplanes struck new terrorist convoy from Libya
[Libya Herald] Egypt says its warplanes have destroyed a ten-vehicle convoy smuggling weapons and ammunition across its border with Libya.

In recent months, there has been a number of such reported attacks by the Egyptian air force on arms smugglers accompanied by undated video footage. It is unclear when the latest strike took place on presumed murderous Moslems bringing armaments into Egypt .

"The air force dealt with them and destroyed them completely and killed all the elements inside," an army statement quoted by Rooters explained.

It is not understood how the Egyptian air force is acquiring the intelligence that has enabled it to intercept these apparent terrorist convoys. Social media footage that has been claimed to depict Egyptian army ground units near the Libyan frontier has also been posted separately by others saying that it showed Libyan National Army (LNA) border patrols.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Israel warns Gaza militants against revenge attack
[DAWN] Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday warned Paleostinian hard boyz against carrying out attacks in Dire Revenge for the blowing up of a tunnel reportedly stretched from the Gazoo Strip into the Jewish state last month.

A bully boy group meanwhile threatened to hit back at Israel over the destruction of the tunnel it says it dug. Israel's operation on October 30 resulted in the deaths of 12 Paleostinian hard boyz from Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood, and Islamic Jihad
...created after many members of the Egyptian Moslem Brotherhood decided the organization was becoming too moderate. Operations were conducted out of Egypt until 1981 when the group was exiled after the assassination of President Anwar Sadat. They worked out of Gaza until they were exiled to Lebanon in 1987, where they clove tightly to Hezbollah. In 1989 they moved to Damascus, where they remain a subsidiary of Hezbollah...
"There are still those who toy with trying new attacks on Israel," Netanyahu said at the opening of his weekly cabinet meeting. "We will react forcefully to whoever tries to attack us or attacks us from any arena. I mean anyone ‐ rebel factions, organizations, anyone," he said in an apparent reference to Islamic Jihad.

"In any case, we hold Hamas responsible for any attack against us originating from Gazoo or organised there," he said of the group that runs the Gazoo Strip.

Netanyahu's remarks came on the heels of a Saturday night Arabic-language video issued by Major General Yoav Mordechai, head of a defence ministry unit responsible for activities in the Paleostinian territories. Referring to the Israeli operation on October 30, he said that Israel "destroyed a terror tunnel in Israeli sovereign territory".

"We are aware of the plot that the Islamic Jihad group is planning against Israel," said Mordechai, whose defence ministry unit is known as COGAT. "They are playing with fire at the expense of Gazook residents, the Paleostinian reconciliation efforts and the stability of the entire region," he said.

Arabia
Bahrain dissident who ‘spied’ for Qatar to stand trial
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Bahraini Shiite opposition leader Sheikh Ali Salman will face trial later this month for "spying" for Qatar
...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates...
, the state prosecution said on Sunday.

Salman will be tried alongside two of his colleagues, Hassan Sultan and Ali Mehdi, from November 27 after they were charged earlier this month of espionage.

"The prosecution has referred the case in which Ali Salman, Hassan Sultan and Ali Mahdi are accused of spying for the state of Qatar to the High Criminal Court," the state prosecution said in a tweet.

On November 1 the state prosecution charged him with "spying on behalf of a foreign country ... with the aim of carrying out subversive acts against Bahrain and harming its national interests".

Salman was also charged with "revealing defense secrets to a foreign country and disseminating information that would harm Bahrain’s status and reputation".

The investigation into purported links between Salman and Qatar was first launched in August, after a quartet of Arab countries -- Bahrain included -- accused their gas-rich neighbor of supporting terrorism and close relations with Shiite Iran.

Bahrain Television aired a report which claimed that neighboring Qatar was behind anti-government protests that have shaken the tiny kingdom for the past six years.

Qatar’s former premier Sheikh Hamad bin Jassem al-Thani contacted Salman -- then head of Bahrain’s largest opposition group, al-Wefaq -- in 2011 and asked him to urge protesters to flood the streets and ramp up pressure on the state, according to the report.

Dozens of Kirkuk police, gov’t official stripped of ranks
[RUDAW.NET] More than 40 Kurdish coppers in Kirkuk province have been removed from their posts and their military ranks frozen by a decree from the Iraqi government.

"All the equipment, vehicles and guards were taken from us... We have been removed from our positions," Burhan Majeed, a former local official in Kirkuk,
... a thick stew of Arabs, Turkmen, Kurds, and probably Antarcticans, all of them mutually hostile most of the time...
told Rudaw, asking the KRG to give them duties in Erbil "even if it is temporary."

The 47 officials had taken posts in Kirkuk on the Kurdistan Democratic Party's (KDP) quota. After Kirkuk fell to Baghdad last month, their positions were filled with Arabs and Turkmens.

Danial Jabar, another military official from Kirkuk said, when they returned to Kirkuk, they were "badly treated."

Shakawan Abdullah, a Kurdish MP from the Iraqi parliament from Kirkuk denounced the removal of the Kurdish military and police officials as a political decision and vowed to speak with the Iraqi Interior Ministry to return them to their posts.

"We make all efforts for the officers to return to Kirkuk and continue in their duties," Abdullah, said.

He said if they failed to convince Baghdad, they will work to transfer their military ranks to the KRG's Interior Ministry.

More than 22 security and administration positions have been taken away from Kurds since Hashd al-Shaabi and the Iraqi army seized control of Kirkuk, namely, positions of governor and the head of the department of agriculture.

"The Arabization process has resumed," Rebwar Talabani, head of the Kirkuk Provincial Council, told Rudaw.

Turkey denies report of plan to kidnap cleric Gulen from US
[IsraelTimes] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
on Sunday dismisses as "ludicrous and groundless" a report that Ottoman Turkish officials may have discussed kidnapping a US-based Moslem holy man in exchange for millions of dollars.

On Friday, The Wall Street Journal reported that Special Counsel Robert Mueller was investigating an alleged plot involving former US National Security Adviser Michael Flynn and his son to forcibly remove Fethullah Gulen
... a Turkish preacher living in Pennsylvania whom the current govt of Turkey considers responsible for all the ills afflicting Turkey and possibly the entire world...
and hand him over to Ankara for as much as $15 million.

Turkey blames Gulen for last year’s failed coup attempt. Gulen denies the claim.

In a statement on Twitter, Turkey’s embassy in Washington reiterates demands that the US extradite Gulen so he can stand trial. The embassy says Turkey has been working with US agencies to provide evidence of Gulen’s culpability and rejected "allegations that Turkey would resort to means external to the rule of law."

Loan firm wants its $45M back from Weinstein
[PAGESIX] The sexual harassment scandal swarming Harvey Weinstein has made his money lender nervous.

AI International Holdings wants immediate repayment of a $45 million loan it gave Weinstein and his namesake company last year because of the scandal that ousted the movie mogul from his company, according to a lawsuit.

When the portly producer was fired from his position as co-chairman of the company on Oct. 3 because of rape and sexual harassment allegations, the loan became due by default, the company contends.

Weinstein’s ouster from his namesake company is considered an "adverse" change, the company said in its Manhattan Supreme Court papers.

AI International demanded immediate repayment last month, but when the money didn’t materialize, it ran to court.

Second son of Rafik Hariri, the Leb PM who was assassinated in 2005. He has was prime minister in his own right from 2009 through early 2011. He was born in Riyadh to an Iraqi mother and graduated from Georgetown University. He managed his father's business interests in Riyadh until his father's assassination. When his father died he inherited a fortune of some $4.1 billion, which won't do him much good if Hizbullah has him bumped off, too.

Hariri made the comments from Saudi Arabia's capital, Riyadh, in his first public comments since his shock resignation eight days ago.

Speaking on Sunday on Future TV, a station affiliated with his political party, Hariri said he was free in Saudi Arabia.

"Here in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia, I am free. I have complete freedom, but I want to look after my family as well," he said, adding that he planned to return to Leb in the near future.

AJK part of Pakistan, says Farooq Abdullah
[DAWN] Azad Jammu and Kashmire is part of Pakistain and both parts of Kashmire ‐ in India and Pakistain ‐ should be granted autonomy, former chief minister of the Indian-occupied state Farooq Abdullah said on Saturday.

Speaking to news hounds on the sidelines of a function at his National Conference party headquarters in Srinagar, he said: "I want to tell people of India and the entire world that the part of Kashmire that is with Pakistain is part of Pakistain, and the part which is with India belongs to India. It is not going to change even if wars are fought... That part will remain with Pakistain and this part will remain with India, and both Kashmires should be granted autonomy.’’

The former chief minister also said that Kashmire cannot survive as an independent state. "We are landlocked. We have China on one side, Pakistain on the other side and India on the third side. All three have atom bombs," he said.

The Indian Express quoted him as saying that while the state decided to join India "out of love", the country "betrayed" the people of Kashmire and did not treat them well.

China-Japan-Koreas
Death's Dusty Measure
[38North] In recent weeks, the gathering storm has been described by countless observers on an almost daily basis. Anyone who reads a newspaper of whatever political stripe knows the dangers and the potential catastrophic losses in blood and treasure if current trends continue. Perhaps what has been lacking has been a closer look at the clockwork mechanisms driving the dangers to higher and higher levels.

One problem not well understood is that the North Koreans believe recent developments in their nuclear weapons program have boosted them to a level of invulnerability, and that as a result, Washington‐whatever it might say‐is without options to counter them.

In fact, Pyongyang is so convinced that its strategic position has fundamentally changed for the better that it has recently suggested there may be no need for it to continue building up its program. Since two successful ICBM launches last July, the North’s position is that it has reached the "final stage" in bolstering the nuclear force. It has even explicitly laid out a final goal, a "practical equilibrium" with the United States. What that means exactly we do not know, though presumably Pyongyang has something specific in mind.

Bodrum plane delayed after dispute over Islamic hissy fit
[Hurriyet Daily News] A plane heading to the Aegean resort of Bodrum from Istanbul was delayed on Nov. 11 after a dispute erupted when a man kissed his wife.

The incident occurred at the Ataturk International Airport in Istanbul in the early hours of Nov. 11.

A man, identified only as Hamit C., and his family reacted to Mehmet Tulunay when he kissed his wife on the cheek.

"You cannot kiss the woman here, we are on a plane. You cannot act like this in public," Hamit C. said while the plane was moving on the runway for departure.

Mehmet Tulunay, the general manager of a luxurious hotel in Bodrum, and his wife were reportedly returning to Bodrum after their honeymoon in the U.S. and Cuba.

But the dispute grew when other passengers got involved and reacted to Hamit C. and his family.

The pilot of the plane decided to go back to the parking area and informed the police over the dispute.

The couple and Hamit C. were forced to disembark from the plane before being taken to the police headquarters in Istanbul.

The plane departed after a one-hour delay.

The parties did not file complaints against each other, both sides saying that the incident was caused by a misunderstanding.

Following the incident, Tulunay said the man apologized for his behavior.

"The man begged to apologize after he saw the police coming to the plane and when the other passengers reacted; he started to change his tone. We are in Istanbul now. We are going back to Bodrum tonight. I have been in the tourism industry for 20 years, and neither my wife nor I have witnessed such an incident. There were tourists on board, too. These people damage the image of our country," Tulunay said.

Israel arrests senior Palestinian Authority security official
[Jpost] The security official named the PA security official as Ali Qaimiri, who serves as head of the PA Police in the Jerusalem outskirts and holds the rank of colonel.

Israeli security forces incarcerated
Yez got nuttin' on me, coppers! Nuttin'!
a senior Paleostinian Authority security official on Friday for sending his forces into east Jerusalem to carry out arrests, an Israeli security official said on Sunday.

The security official named the PA security official as Ali Qaimiri, who serves as head of the PA Police in the Jerusalem outskirts and holds the rank of colonel.

"[Qaimiri] sent his forces into east Jerusalem to carry out arrests of blue-ID card holders," the security official said, referring to Paleostinian residents who hold Israeli residency cards.

The official declined to elaborate on the circumstances surrounding Qaimiri’s case, stating that an "investigation is ongoing."

A PA security official confirmed that Israel arrested Qaimiri near Gush Etzion on Friday evening and subsequently transferred him to a jail in downtown Jerusalem.

The official added that Qaimiri was scheduled to appear before an Israeli court on Monday.

Qaimiri’s arrest came two days after the Israel Police and Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) detained two residents of east Jerusalem for allegedly working on behalf of the PA security services.

A Jerusalem Police spokeswoman on Wednesday said the two residents had been "operating against residents of east Jerusalem," without providing additional details.

When asked on Sunday if the arrest of the two residents on Wednesday was connected to Qaimiri’s detention on Friday, the spokeswoman said there was no link between the two cases.

The PA security official denied that Qaimiri had sent forces into east Jerusalem.

"We do not operate there," the official said. "It is outside of our jurisdiction."

The official also objected to Israel arresting Qaimiri, asserting that it would have been more appropriate for Israel try to address its concerns through dialogue with the PA Police.

"Frankly, arresting him was not the right way for them to handle this situation," he said. "They could have contacted us to express their concerns and we could have reached a resolution in a civil way."

While Israel has previously arrested entry-level members of the PA security forces, it has not, in recent memory, detained a member of the forces at a rank similar to that of Qaimiri.

Saudi-led coalition air forces have destroyed a large weapons warehouse belonging to the Houthi militias north of Saada.

"The coalition forces targeted Sha’eer Mountain in several raids, during which a weapons warehouse belonging to the militia was destroyed,” Yemeni news agency quoted a military source as saying.

This coincided with what was revealed by the operations of the joint forces on the destruction of a number of heavy weapons belonging to the insurgents by a Yemeni National Army tank and coalition aircraft, during the past two days, in a number of locations.

A source from the joint forces indicated that a number of mortars held by the militias were targeted as well as Houthi armed groups in several areas in Yemen.

On a daily basis, Houthi insurgents suffer heavy losses, which have increased recently due to a significant progress by the National Army forces, supported by the coalition forces.

In the context of combating terrorism in Yemen, security sources announced the death of two Yemeni soldiers and two terrorists during clashes Friday as Yemeni forces seized an al-Qaeda foothold south of the country.

Militants fled to nearby mountains after the clashes in al-Hawtah district of Shabwa province, said a Yemeni officer.

He said Apache helicopters belonging to the UAE — a key member of the Arab coalition in Yemen — then strafed the mountains where the terrorists had fled, according to AFP.

“We entered Hawtah after clashes with the terrorists and now we’re stationed in several locations... We are in total control of the area,” the officer said.

Yemeni forces have brought Shabwa province largely under government control, though al-Qaeda is known to make tactical retreats to mountain refuges, only to resurface.

At least 50 dead in artillery fire, Russian strikes in Syria
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Dozens of civilians have died in artillery fire and Russian bombardment of two displacement camps and surrounding territory in eastern Syria, a monitor said Sunday in a new toll.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said ongoing heavy bombardment in the Deir Ezzor province had killed 50 civilians, including 20 children, since late Friday night.

The new toll was nearly double the Britannia-based monitor’s count on Saturday of 26 dead.

The bombardment has targeted territory along the Euphrates River, as well as villages and displacement camps full of people fleeing fighting in the Syrian border town of Albu Kamal.

Russian-backed Syrian regime forces and allied militia seized Albu Kamal from ISIS on Thursday but the extemists retook it late Saturday.

On Sunday, Russian air strikes on two river crossings along the Euphrates killed 11 civilians, according to Observatory chief Rami Abdel Rahman.

"Five civilians, including two children, were killed in the strikes on al-Soussa crossing about five kilometers east of Albu Kamal," Abdel Rahman told AFP.

"Six non-combatants were killed in raids on another river crossing 20 kilometers north of the town," he added.

The toll from earlier artillery fire and air strikes on two displacement camps and surrounding villages rose to 39 after 13 civilians shuffled off the mortal coil, the Observatory said on Sunday.

Albu Kamal is the last significant Syrian town ISIS controls. Losing it would cap the group’s reversion to an underground guerrilla organization with no urban base.

ISIS rose to prominence in the chaos of Syria’s conflict, which broke out in 2011 with protests against Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Light of the Alawites...
It has since evolved into a complex war that has killed more than 330,000 people, forced millions more to flee, and left much of the country in ruins.

Spanish PM urges return of ‘free, democratic’ Catalonia
[Hurriyet Daily News] Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy said on Nov. 11 he wanted to return to a "democratic and free" Catalonia as he aimed to rally support for a unified Spain on his first visit to the turbulent region since it declared independence.

A day after hundreds of thousands of people marched in Barcelona to demand the release of separatist officials detained over their independence drive, Rajoy also urged businesses not to flee the wealthy northern region.

"We have to recover the sensible, practical, enterprising and dynamic Catalonia... that has contributed so much to the progress of Spain and Europe," Rajoy told members of his Popular Party in Barcelona.

"We want to regain a Catalonia for everyone, democratic and free," he added.

The Catalonia crisis has caused concern in the European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
as the bloc deals with Brexit and uncertainty over the fate of the region’s 7.5 million people. More than 2,400 businesses have moved their legal headquarters elsewhere.

Rajoy yesterday urged those businesses "not to go."

The region -- which accounts for a fifth of Spanish GDP -- remains deeply divided on independence and Barcelona mayor on Nov. 11 slammed separatist politicians for dragging Catalonia into chaos.

Man stabs judge after seeing him with ex-wife
[Hurriyet Daily News] A judge was stabbed by a man after seeing him with his ex-wife in the Central Anatolian province of Kayseri, daily Haberturk reported on Nov. 12.

A woman, who was a foreign national, had applied to the court to divorce her husband and had demanded guardianship of their children.

In the second hearing of the trial on Aug. 18, the judge ordered the man to pay a temporary alimony and temporarily debarred him from their home for six months, without listening to his statement.

The judge, who was married, took the woman’s phone number and sent her a message asking how she was doing 10 days later.

The woman and the judge had reportedly began flirting and decided to meet in a park on Oct. 21. The man, who had come by the woman’s home to see his children, saw them kissing in the park.

The man attacked the judge and stabbed him and he was taken to the hospital for treatment.

He was locked away

on charges of "murder and attempt to injure" and the Kayseri Chief Prosecutor’s Office started an investigation into the incident.

The High Council of Judges and Prosecutors decided to suspend the judge from duty until the investigation was completed, stating he had acted "inappropriately."

ISIS Captures border town of Abu Kamal
Deir Ezzor (Syria News) The self-proclaimed Islamic State group (Daesh) has fully recaptured the border city of Albukamal (Abu Kamal), east of Syria, after fierce battles with the Syrian regime forces that retook the city last Thursday, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported on Sunday.

The Syrian Observatory for human Rights revealed that the clashes are escalating in Albukamal, one of the most important strongholds for jihadists in Syria, while added that the Islamic State militants managed to recapture the area, late on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Iraqi forces launched an extensive offensive on the last stronghold of the Islamic State in the western desert, on the borders with Syria, the SOHR explained.

Ramy Abdel Rahman, Director of SOHR, said that the Islamic State group imposed its full control on the city of Albukamal, after setting a number of ambushes and launching several attacks using car bombs and IEDs, while the Syrian regime forces and allied militias stationed in the vicinity of the city, nearly one or two kilometers away from the outskirts of the city.

The city of Albukamal is a Syrian City located on the borders with Iraq, while it is considered the last prominent stronghold of the Islamic State (also known as Daesh) in the Syrian territory.

It is noteworthy that the Syrian army announced, last Thursday, fully recapturing the city of Albukamal from the Islamic State grip, while the terrorist group launched a counter attack, on Friday, and recaptured about half of the city.

On Saturday, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights revealed that the Islamic State jihadists have recaptured the city of Albukamal completely.

Thinni orders suspension and arrest of mayors dealing with government of national accord
[Libya Herald] The Beida-based interim prime minister Abdullah al-Thinni has ordered the suspension and arrest of mayors and councillors from areas supposedly under his control who have been in contact with the Presidency Council’s government of national accord (GNA) based in Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
Thinni gave the instruction to suspend the mayors and councillors this morning to his minister of local government, and that to arrest them to his new acting interior minister, Colonel Younis Mohammed Belgassem Ismail.

The move will affect several of the municipalities in the east which have not, so far, had military governors appointed to run them. The two most prominent are Beida and Tobruk. The mayor of Beida, Ali Hussein Mohammed, has had talks with Serraj in search of funding for his town as have councillors from Tobruk. The mayor of Tobruk, Naji Maziq, studiously avoided meeting Serraj and instead sent other councillors to negotiate instead for funding for the town’s electricity and water projects, but this may not save him.

The suspension and arrest orders are likely to complicate matters in the east. The mayor in Beida, for example, is popular and his arrest could stir up local anger.

The orders are also likely to deepen the antagonisms between the east and west of the country.

"This move will not help reconciliation," said one top local government official in Tripoli, adding that "the timing is obviously connected to the events of the past few days in Benghazi". He was referring to the latest liquidation attempt in Benghazi against the GNA’s deputy interior minister Faraj al-Gaem, his ultimatum to Khalifa Hafter to quit the city and yesterday’s counter attempt by the LNA to seize him.

Mosul (IraqiNews.com) Four tribal fighters were killed and injured in a bomb blast, south of Mosul, a security source was quoted saying.

“One personnel of the Tribal Mobilization Forces was killed, while three others were wounded as bomb, recently placed in Qayyarah, south of Mosul, exploded,” the source told Shafaq News on Sunday.

“The region was combed twice before, which means the bomb was planted recently,” the source, who asked to remain anonymous, added.

Twelve police personnel were reportedly killed and injured on Saturday as a suicide attacker blew up himself targeting a checkpoint in al-Houd village, which links al-Qayyarah to Shirqat, south of Mosul.

Afghanistan
Trump allows US troops to join Afghan raids on Taliban targets
[DAWN] The Trump administration is allowing American troops in Afghanistan to participate in joint operations with official Afghan forces and to call in air strikes when needed, US officials say.

Several current and former Pentagon officials told Foreign Policy magazine that the Trump administration is also sending thousands of additional troops to Afghanistan to participate in these missions.

"Hundreds of American troops will accompany Afghan forces on combat missions, where they will be able to directly request bombing raids and artillery fire for their Afghan partners," the magazine reported.

Last month, the US Air Forces Central Command reported that the number of US air strikes in Afghanistan hit a seven-year high in September as the military acted on President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...

They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. (IS) group targets in Afghanistan in September, an increase of 50 per cent from the 503 dropped in August and the most since the Battle of Sangin in late 2010, when more than 100 US and British troops were killed while fighting the Taliban.

Senior US military officers, who spoke to Foreign Policy, say the approach of embedding American forces with Afghan units in the field is modelled on the US-led air war in Iraq and Syria, where American commandos dialed in heavy firepower while local Iraqi and Kurdish forces fought the IS on the ground.

While US special operations troops will continue to participate in this mission in Afghanistan, newly arrived American soldiers will also spread out with with small Afghan units in the field, the magazine reported.

The Grand Turk
Turkey's S-400 purchase not a message to NATO
[Al Jazeera] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
's decision to buy an advanced missile defence system from Russia is not aimed at sending any political messages, a Ottoman Turkish official has said, a day after Ankara announced the finalisation of a deal that might affect its relations with NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. It's headquartered in Belgium. That sez it all....
Ahmet Berat Conkar, head of the Ottoman Turkish delegation to NATO Parliamentary Assembly, said the purchase of the S-400 anti-aircraft missiles was solely based on technical and financial reasons.

"Turkey's picked S-400 over other options because the missile system possesses more advanced technical features than its rivals, with a better price and shorter delivery time," Conkar, who is a member of parliament for the ruling AK Party, told Al Jazeera.

His comments came after Nurettin Canikli, Turkey's defence minister, said on Saturday that the S-400 deal with Russia was "done".

"The S-400 missiles are purchased. Only small details are left to handle at this point," Canikli told news hounds in the northern city of Giresun.

The legacy of Kemalism/Republicanism
[Hurriyet Daily News] The commemoration of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk’s death on Nov. 10 has been very spectacular this year. Anything related to the founder of the republic had become the symbol of secularist "resistance" for some time, against the perceived Islamization under the conservative/Islamist governing party. But more than that, it proved that the power of the republican legacy cannot to be easily challenged even among the ordinary folks who have nothing to do with krazed killer Kemalism.

Kemalism, which was once enforced by the state as the official ideology, is being embellished by the civil society nowadays.. Lately, President Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him...
and his party started to endorse Ataturk and his historical legacy, with the president cherishing him by referring to him by his last name "Ataturk," a name adopted after the foundation of the Republic. Before, Erdogan and his party preferred to refer to him by his first name and title, "Gazi," meaning war veteran in Ottoman Turkish, and Mustafa Kemal, as a show of dissent. The main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) said this change was an election tactic rather than a sincere move, as Erdogan needs a 51-percent majority in the 2019 presidential elections. Nevertheless, it seems that the rising popularity of Ataturk reflects the unbeatable legacy of the republic’s history and its leader.

Islamists and even most of the moderate conservatives have long perceived the secularist, Western modernization of the republic as a Western plot. They offered a revisionist version that proclaimed Ataturk and his Republican friends sacrificed the gains of the War of Independence by compromising with the British and won the political struggle for power at the expense of denouncing the Moslem entity of The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
and by abolishing the caliphate. In this view, the founding fathers of the republic deserved to be regarded as traitors rather than heroes.

Besides, since the 1980’s, Kemalism became a dirty word for liberal democrats who have been critical of the legacy left by the republican, authoritarian modernization project as the main obstacle stopping democratization in Turkey. Finally, the political vogue turned out to be a coalition of left liberal anti-Kemalism and Islamist/right-wing anti-Kemalism in search for Turkey’s democratization. Things have changed so much since then that now people from different walks of life came closer to appreciating republican values. More than anything else, it emerged that ordinary people do not very much embrace anti-republicanism as it was assumed the contrary by conservative/Islamist politicians and intellectuals.

All attempts to alter the narrative and symbols of the republic and replace them with alternatives have failed. For example, the portrayal of Sultan Abdulhamid II as a historical progenitor and nemesis of Ataturk by conservative/Islamist narratives have so far failed. The revisionist history in general could not achieve popularity despite all efforts. Most recently, although the majority embraced the narrative of popular resistance against the July 15, 2016 coup attempt, the effort of contest with the War of Independence proved futile. Finally, the project of the new Turkey could not engender a strong counter narrative and symbols to compete with the republican, Kemalist ones.

I think it was not only the result of the weakness of the counter narratives, but also the power of the Republican-Kemalist legacy that determined the course of the war of narratives and symbols. In the end, it seems that a majority in Turkey have been intimidated by the krazed killer form of anti-Kemalism/republicanism as much as the rigid understanding of secularist/modernist Kemalism created resentment in the past. But so far, there is hope for the future of secularism and liberal values.

Britain
''This is ENGLAND!' The day North Korea's agents were told to 'P**S OFF' by a London barber
[Express.uk] NORTH Korea may have brought the world to the brink of World War 3 war but Kim Jong-un’s horrifying threats had no effect on one London barber.

North Korea’s UK embassy is a [hyperlink] mysterious suburban house in West London where staff keep themselves to themselves - usually.

But one day in 2014 a local business owner suffered the full wrath of despot Kim Jong-un - and told the hermit state exactly where to put it.

Mo Nabbach, manager of M&M Hair Academy in Ealing, recalled to Express.co.uk this week of how it felt to come face to face with agents from the world’s most secretive state.

The reason for their unusual visit? Mr Nabbach’s son's cheeky attempt at highlighting a deal for men’s hair cuts by posting up a huge photo of Kim with the caption "Bad Hair Day?"

The picture was particularly cutting as it came soon after North Korean men were instructed by their deranged leader to adopt one of a limited number of state-approved haircuts.

Mr Nabbach said: "One day two officials came in and told me to take the poster down. They asked if I was the manager and then asked for my name.

"I refused to give it and they kept asking. That p****d me off, I said 'do you need ID as well?'

"I said 'relax guys', and said it was a joke, something we do with celebrities all the time. They said 'he is not a celebrity, he is the leader of our country!'"

The two men were both dressed in black suits and attempted to intimidate Mr Nabbach, asking repeatedly for his name and warning him not to disobey.

Eventually the mild-mannered hairdresser cracked and told them: "P**s off, this is not North Korea, this is England!"

He added: "They said 'we'll see' and walked off. It was a bit scary so I told the press because I was told it might be safer."

India-Pakistan
Right-wing threat
[DAWN] The protest near Islamabad by elements of the right wing, led by Tehrik-e-Labbaik Ya Rasool Allah Pakistain and the Sunni Tehrik
...formed in Karachi in 1992 under by Muhammad Saleem Qadri. It quickly fell to trading fisticuffs and assassinations with the MQM and the Sipah-e-Sahaba, with at least a half dozen of its major leaders rubbed out. Sunni Tehreek arose to become the primary opposition to the Deobandi Binori Mosque, headed by Nizamuddin Shamzai, who was eventually bumped off by person or persons unknown. ST's current leadership has heavily criticized the Deobandi Jihadi leaders, accusing them of being sponsored by Indian Intelligence agencies as well as involvement in terrorist activities...
, has taken an ugly turn, with a potential for worse.

During their Friday sermon, holy mans from the religious groups holding the demonstration threatened to attack the families of federal ministers if the government did not accede to their demands.

It is several days since the protest began, sparked ostensibly by the controversy surrounding the amendment to the Elections Act, 2017, an amendment swiftly reversed by parliament.

Among other demands, the protesters want Law Minister Zahid Hamid to resign for what they believe is his culpability in the short-lived change to the election law; Asiya Bibi executed; cases against religious leaders dismissed; and holy mans removed from the Fourth Schedule.

The Punjab
1.) Little Orphan Annie's bodyguard
2.) A province of Pakistain ruled by one of the Sharif brothers
3.) A province of India. It is majority (60 percent) Sikh and Hindoo (37 percent), which means it has relatively few Moslem riots....

government is acting as an interlocutor between the protesters and the federal government. As always, those suffering the most from the sit-in at Faizabad interchange, the main artery linking Islamabad and Rawalpindi, are ordinary citizens trying to go about their daily lives.

There is never a time quite like the run-up to elections for groups with political aspirations to flex their muscles, and expand their space. September’s by-election in NA-120 saw the TLY-backed candidate win enough votes to come in third place behind the PML-N and PTI.

It was an electoral endorsement that has further emboldened an organization that derives its inspiration from the man who murdered Salmaan Taseer ‐ it is hardly surprising that violence, whether in the name of religion or otherwise, is its stock-in-trade.

For the holy mans to threaten the families of those against whom they are directing their ire is a form of blackmail that is particularly detestable and should be denounced in the strongest terms. The democratic right to protest is not a licence to engage in hate speech or incite violence.

Moreover, the protesters’ demands are such that no government could possibly acquiesce to them; their very unreasonableness shows them for what they are, a naked attempt to browbeat authorities.

Although the government has been right to show restraint thus far, there must be a more concerted and skillful effort to engage with the protesters so that the increasing tension can dissipate. Any violence will work to the advantage of the right wing, and they know it.

Those taking part in the sit-in are spoiling for a fight. The government must not give in to them.

Local ANP leaders hired Taliban militants to assassinate Parveen Rehman, suspect tells JIT
[DAWN] A suspect, who was placed in durance vile

founded by Abdul Wali Khan in 1986. Part of the PPP-led cabinet 2008-13. The ANP is considered left wing, advocating for secularism, democratic socialism, public sector government, and economic egalitarianism....
had hired Talibs to assassinate Rehman, it emerged on Sunday.

The police had arrested Amjad Hussain from Manghopir area on October 24 in connection with the murder of Rehman and started the paperwork but haven't done much else against him under charges of 7-ATA (Anti-Terrorism Act of 1997.)

Renowned social worker Rehman was the director of Orangi Pilot Project, her office was located at Qasba Mor in Sector-5A, Orangi Town. She was bumped off in March 2013.

A JIT was constituted following the arrest of Hussain, which recently completed its findings and has submitted a report to the Sindh home department.

The accused told the JIT members that he and Raheem Swati ‐ the prime suspect in the case ‐ lived in front of the OPP office.

"Awami National Party (ANP) leaders Ayaz Swati and Raheem Swati had tried to obtain a designated area to construct a Karate centre, but despite repeated requests, Rehman refused to provide the land to them inside the OPP compound," sources quoted the accused as saying before the JIT.

The suspect told the JIT that Rehman termed the local leaders as "ANP’s Qabza Mafia", which they considered as an "insult" to them and their party.

The arrested suspect told the JIT members that in January 2013 a meeting was convened at Raheem Swati’s residence in which he [Amjad Hussain], Ayaz Swati and Ahmed alias Pappu were present.

Hussain said they planned the liquidation of Parveen Rehman "out of rage and as an act of Dire Revenge."

said on Saturday.

A senior White House adviser said the plan would attempt to tackle controversial issues such as the status of Jerusalem and West Bank settlements.

Abbas was called unexpectedly to Riyadh six days ago by the office of the powerful Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman.

There, in addition to being told to "accept Trump’s peace plan or quit," he was ordered to keep away from any Iranian influence, according to the report on Israel’s Channel 10.

The Saudi authorities made clear that they were dismayed by media images of Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason,’s deputy political leader, Saleh al-Arouri, visiting Tehran in October. Arouri, a Hamas terror chief, was the Hamas signatory on a reconciliation deal with Abbas’s Fatah group signed in Cairo last month.

The Saudis also made clear that Lebanese activists within Abbas’s Fatah faction could no longer cooperate with the Iranian-backed Lebanese terror organization, Hezbollah.

Since the reported the warnings, which could threaten the new Paleostinian unity agreement signed by Fatah and the Iranian-backed Hamas in the Gazoo Strip, Paleostinian media displayed a rare degree of unity in recent days by coming out against Iran.

The daily newspaper al-Hayat al-Jadida, for example, wrote that, "The Paleostinian Authority will not allow Iran to interfere on its territory" or to try to create a Paleostinian copy of the Hezbollah.

When his father died he inherited a fortune of some $4.1 billion, which won't do him much good if Hizbullah has him bumped off, too.
broadcast on Saudi-owned al-Arabiyya from Riyadh, Leb has stopped asking where he is and has started demanding his release.

Lebanese President Michel Aoun
...president of Leb, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hizbullah...
called the circumstances of his disappearance "ambiguous and mysterious" and asked Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
for clarification. In meetings with foreign ambassadors, he has gone further and declared Hariri "kidnapped".

It has become clear that Hariri was planning for a short visit in Riyadh and was scheduled to return to Leb that weekend. He is set to appear for the first time tonight in an interview from Riyadh.

I spoke to Habib Ephrem, president of the Syriac League in Leb and secretary-general of the Levant Encounter, a think-tank known to be very close to President Aoun. He showed me an entry in his calendar from last week titled "11:30am Hariri" scheduled for Monday, November 6. He had received a call from the office of the prime minister on Saturday, November 4, hours before Hariri resigned in front of al-Arabiya's cameras. Clearly, not even his team in Beirut knew what was going on.

Hariri now seems stuck in Riyadh, like another head of government, Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi, Yemen's president, who reportedly has not been allowed to leave the Saudi capital for months. And with all the posturing from Riyadh, the fear in Beirut is that the country might be facing a proxy war, just like the one in Yemen.

The Lebanese are not 'a herd of sheep'
According to the latest reports, Saudi Arabia took the decision on Hariri's resignation because "he was unwilling to confront Hezbollah". He was handed his resignation speech while waiting to see Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

There have been also rumours that Saudi Arabia is setting the stage for Saad's older brother, Bahaa, to replace him, and has demanded that members of the Hariri family go to Riyadh to pledge allegiance.

ISIS troops fleeing Anbar into Salahuddin
Anbar (IraqiNews.com) Islamic State militants have fled locations in its bastion in western Anbar, as security troops declared invasion intentions, a paramilitary official said.

“IS members evacuated all its locations in Rawa, west of Anbar, and headed toward al-Maleha and al-Sakhriyat regions, south of Salahuddin,” Qutri al-Obeidi, a senior leader with al-Hashd al-Shaabi (Popular Mobilization Forces) told Ikhnews website on Sunday.

“All the foreign IS members fled Rawa, while only few number of local ones remained in the town awaiting their unknown destiny,” he added.

The militants withdrawal, according to Obeidi, “came after the security troops declared intentions to invade the town over the coming few hours as well as airstrikes by army jets targeting the militants’ hideouts. The snipers also evacuated the high buildings in the town.”

Houthis repeat threat to target international shipping lines, oil tankers
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Iranian-backed Houthi
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The Yemeni government has accused the Houthis of having ties to the Iranian government, which wouldn't suprise most of us. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews ...
militias reiterated threats to target international shipping lines and oil ships in the Red Sea.

"We will take measures we have not taken before and we can target oil ships. We can do anything," Mohammed Ali al-Houthi, the chief of the so-called supreme revolutionary committee, said on Facebook.

’s terror list, said they will carry out these threats if the Saudi-led coalition and legitimate forces liberate the city and port of Hodeidah, west of Yemen.

"In this case we can target oil tankers. We can do anything," he said, adding that it was the Houthis’ "legitimate right" to do so.

He also threatened that giant oil facilities in Saudi Arabia will be among the major targets of their "capable missiles," in reference to ballistic missiles smuggled from Iran.

Meanwhile,

Abdulmalik al-Houthi, the Houthi leader, reportedly said that if "the Saudi-led coalition wants oil ships to be safe then it better not invade" Hodeidah.

Powerful earthquake rocks Iran-Iraq border
[Al Jazeera] A 7.2 magnitude earthquake has struck the semi-autonomous Kurdish region of northern Iraq, near the border with Iran, with shockwaves felt as far away as Qatar
...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates...
The US Geological Survey (USGS) said Sunday's quake hit close to Halabjah, southeast of Sulaymaniyah, a city in the Iraqi region administered by the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG).

The tremor struck at 21:18 local time (18:18) GMT, and its epicentre was at a depth of 33.9km.

Al Jazeera's Imran Khan
... aka Taliban Khan, who is the lightweight's lightweight...
, reporting from the Iraqi capital Baghdad, said cars came to a standstill as the buildings began to sway.

"Baghdad is not prone to earthquakes so when people began to come outside, the shock was visible on the faces."

"For the first few seconds, I actually thought an kaboom had taken place, but as it carried on - for up to a minute - I realised it was an earthquake," he added.

Pictures and footage published on social media showed people seeking safety in the streets of Sulaymaniyah while the interiors of buildings shook.

Badin police foil marriage of 10-year-old girl with 40-year-old man
[DAWN] Police on Sunday raided a marriage ceremony in Sindh's Badin district, foiling a bid to marry off a minor girl to a 40-year-old man.

The police team, led by Model Police Station's Station House Officer (SHO) Anwer Ali Leghari, conducted the raid in the Quaidabad locality of the Ward No. 5 area and recovered a 10-year-old girl.

Police tossed in the slammer
Drop the rosco, Muggsy, or you're one with the ages!
the would-be groom, the nikah khawan (officiator of the marriage) and the girl's father from the event.

According to police officials, the girl's parents had 'sold' their daughter to Abdul Khaliq Pasayo, 40, who hailed from a village near Diplo town of Tharparkar district.

The arrested groom, who is a worker of the provincial health department, already has three children from his first wife and had reportedly 'bought' the girl for his second marriage.

A First Information Report was registered under the Sindh Child Marriages Restraint Act, 2013 against Jan Mohammad Sheedi, the girl's father, the groom and Moulana Daud Jat on behalf of the state.

Police officials told Dawn that all the accused would be produced in court on Monday.

Child marriage is a punishable offence in Sindh. According to the Child Marriages Restraint Act, a child marriage includes any marriage where one of the contracting parties is less than 18 years of age. Those found guilty of entering into, or facilitating, a child marriage can be sentenced to rigorous punishment for up to three years.

Iraq
Mass graves 'of ISIL victims' found in Iraq's Hawijah
[Al Jazeera] Mass graves containing at least 400 suspected ISIS victims, many wearing prison uniforms, have been found in northern Iraq.

The sites were discovered on Saturday near Rashad airbase close to the group's former stronghold, Hawijah, 45km west of Kirkuk.

Iraqi forces recaptured the town of Hawijah and surrounding areas from the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
of Iraq and the Levant (ISIS, also known as ISIS) group in October. It was one of their last strongholds in Iraq.

Rashad airbase, located about 30km south of Hawijah, was used by ISIS as a training camp and logistic base.

Al Jazeera's Imran Khan
... aka Taliban Khan, who isn't your heaviest-duty thinker, maybe not even among the top five...
, reporting from Baghdad, said it was a common ISIS tactic to imprison and execute anybody who was in opposition to their rule.

"The graves are a significant find, most of all for the families of the victims who have been seeking closure for years," Khan reported.

"According to locals, ISIS turned the military base into an execution ground. Iraqi authorities have been cataloguing exactly how many people died under ISIS rule and are now investigating how many victims are in these particular graves," he added.

"Authorities are relying on local people who took detailed notes during ISIS rule, handed them over, and showed authorities where these graves are located."

The discovery of the mass graves was not the first after the routing of ISIS in Iraq and Syria.

In August, Iraqi military Sherlocks discovered two mass graves near a former ISIS prison outside djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
that contained the bodies of 500 victims.

Podesta Group on the verge of shuttering amid ties to Mueller probe
[CNN] One of Washington's most prominent lobbying firms is on the verge of shuttering after becoming ensnared by special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation.

Kimberley Fritts, the chief executive of the Podesta Group, told employees during a Thursday staff meeting that the firm would cease to exist at the end of the year, according to two sources. Employees were asked to clear out their desks and were told they may not be paid beyond November 15, multiple sources said.

Fritts told the employees the Podesta Group may try to provide health care through the end of the year, according to two people in the meeting.

How much trouble is Tony Podesta in?

The developments come after the Podesta Group was tied last week to Mueller's indictments of Paul Manafort and Rick Gates, who pleaded not guilty
"Wudn't me."
after being charged with failing to file as foreign agents relating to a decade of work they did for the Party of Regions, a pro-Russia political party in the Ukraine.

Mueller's special investigation team has also interviewed multiple people from the Podesta Group, which was recruited by Manafort and Gates to work along with another firm.

Talk of potentially closing the Podesta Group marks a dramatic downfall of one of K Street's most iconic and well-connected firms. In its heyday, Podesta Group was the largest non-law firm lobbying organization in Washington. Tony Podesta, the firm's founder and chairman, helped fuel the company with work for foreign governments. He and his brother, John, founded the company almost three decades ago. (John Podesta chaired Perennial Presidential Campaigner Hillary Crooked Hillary Clinton
... former first lady, former secretary of state, former presidential candidate, Conqueror of Benghazi, Heroine of Tuzla, formerly described by her supporters as the smartest woman in the world, usually described by the rest of us as The Thing That Wouldn't Go Away...
's 2016 presidential campaign. He left the firm in 1993.)

A Podesta Group spokesperson declined to comment for this story. Fritts could not be reached for comment Friday via her Podesta Group email.

Mueller is looking into whether the Podesta Group properly identified to federal authorities its foreign advocacy for the European Centre for a Modern Ukraine, according to people familiar with the investigation. The ECFMU is a Brussels-based non-profit group that federal prosecutors have called a mouthpiece for pro-Russian Ukrainian politicians.

On Thursday, Podesta told staffers he had no plans to take up golf or tennis, and he may take on a couple of clients, according to a person familiar with his remarks.

Pride goes before the fall but until then, he's seriously dangerous.

'Cow vigilantes' lynch Muslim man in India
[DAWN] A Moslem man was killed and another left critically injured by 'cow vigilantes' in India's Alwar district of Rajasthan state, local media reported on Sunday.

The two Moslem men were targeted for transporting cows in the same area where Haryana dairy farmer Pehlu Khan was lynched by a mob in April this year.

A charged mob intercepted Umar Khan and his aide Tahir Khan when the two were taking four cows in a pick-up truck from Alwar to Ghatmika village in Bharatpur district. The mob allegedly harassed, assaulted and shot at the two men, resulting in the death of Umar Khan.

To cover up the murder, the attackers allegedly threw Khan's body on a railway track. A train had run over the body when police found it. The remains were shifted to the Rajiv Gandhi Government Hospital in Alwar on Saturday.

Bahrain says militants hit oil pipeline, opening new front
[Ynet] An kaboom destroyed a pipeline belonging to Bahrain's state-run oil company and sent flames shooting up into the night sky, with government officials on Saturday blaming the blast on an attack by faceless myrmidons guided by Iran.

No one was injured in the kaboom late Friday night near the Shiite village of Buri and no bully boy group immediately claimed the blast.

However,
nothing needs reforming like other people's bad habits...
it potentially opens a new front in the low-level insurgency plaguing Bahrain since its 2011 Arab Spring protests.

The kaboom damaged cars and nearby buildings, forcing firefighters to evacuate those close to the flames in Buri, just outside of the capital, Manama. Authorities later extinguished the blaze on the pipeline belonging to the state-run Bahrain Petroleum Co.

Bahrain's interior minister, Sheikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, said in a statement that the blast was "the latest example of a terrorist act performed by holy warriors in direct contact with, and under instruction from, Iran." He did not say what caused the kaboom, nor did he name any suspects.

Iran denies involvement in Bahrain pipeline attack

[IsraelTimes] Iran denies allegations it was behind a turban attack on a pipeline outside Bahrain’s capital.

Foreign Ministry front man Bahram Ghasemi is quoted by the state-run IRNA news agency Sunday as rejecting the "baseless and fake claims" and "childish finger-pointing" from Bahraini authorities.

Bahrain has been combating a low-level insurgency since the Sunni monarchy quashed a 2011 Arab Spring uprising led by majority Shiites.

Gulf tensions have intensified in recent days after Sunni-led Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. blamed Shiite Iran for a ballistic missile fired by Yemen’s Iranian catspaws that was intercepted near Riyadh. Iran has denied any involvement.

U.S. And Somali Strikes On Shabab Said To Kill Nearly 100 Militants
[RADIOSHABELLE] Nearly 100 members of the Shabaab, the Qaeda-linked bully boy group in Somalia, were killed in separate strikes this week, according to Somali and American officials.

More than a dozen bandidos forces of Evil were killed in a United States Arclight airstrike 20 miles north of the capital of Mogadishu, according to Samantha Reho, a spokeswoman with the United States Africa Command. The Friday strike was carried out in coordination with the Somali government, she said in an email.

It was the 23rd American Arclight airstrike in the country this year, and the second in 24 hours. On Thursday, Arclight airstrikes killed "several holy warriors" in the Bay region, about 100 miles west of Mogadishu, according to a statement from the Africa Command.

Separately, the Somali National Intelligence and Security Agency killed 81 Shabaab fighters earlier this week in Jilib, in southern Somalia, government officials said on Saturday.

The state security forces "planted mines in a holy warrior bomb-making site in Jilib district," Abdirahman Omar Osman, the Minister of Information, said by telephone.

Jilib is a Shabaab stronghold about 75 miles north of the port city of Kismayo
...a port city in the southern Lower Juba province of Somalia, at the extreme southern end of the country (assuming Somalia can be called a country). It is the commercial capital of the autonomous Jubaland region...
, where bandidos forces of Evil attacked a Somali army base in September.

Mr. Osman claimed the attack "destroyed all kabooms" and "technical vehicles" Shabaab had stored at the site. He declined to give further details of the attack, citing a pending investigation.
