Former Klingon Director Mike Hayden launches attack on POTUS: 'I have wasted 40 years of my life'
[UK Independent] Donald Trump's attacks on broadcaster CNN are an "an outrageous assault" on freedom of speech, according to former Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) director Michael Hayden.

"If this is who we are or who we are becoming, I have wasted 40 years of my life," the former spy chief, who now works as a national security analyst for the broadcaster, said in a Twitter post.

General Hayden, who is also a former director of the National Surveillance Agency (NSA), added: "Until now it was not possible for me to conceive of an American President capable of such an outrageous assault on truth, a free press or the first amendment."

Mr Trump has repeatedly criticised CNN and has accused it of spreading "fake news", a claim the network has denied.

On the other hand, the US leader regularly praised Fox News and has appeared on the channel a number of times.

"FoxNews is MUCH more important in the United States than CNN, but outside of the US, CNN International is still a major source of (Fake) news, and they represent our Nation to the WORLD very poorly," the US President said in a twitter post over the weekend.

How Aging Hippies' Attacks on Families Created Entitled Younger Generations
[Townhall] Fewer Millennials and youth in Generation Z are moving out of their parents’ homes than in recent previous generations. For the first time in the modern era, more 18- to 34-year olds live with their parents than in any other type of arrangement. That percentage reached its lowest point 45 years ago. In 1960, 62 percent of the nation’s 18- to 34-year-olds were living with a spouse or partner in their own household, and only one-in-five were living with their parents.

How did this happen? The younger generations are used to their parents providing them with iPhones and cars. They’re less likely to have gotten jobs in high school and paid for those things themselves, or to have saved for college. This is because Baby Boomers ‐ the hippy generation ‐ raised the Millennials. The Boomers revolted against their traditional parents and indulged their children. It’s been described as the "Me Generation" raising the "Me Me Me Generation." Instead of taking on the tough parenting role of teaching their kids economics and the value of saving, they took the easy route and spoiled them.

Millennials spend an inordinate amount of time taking selfies and posting on Instagram and Snapchat. A study from the National Institutes of Health found that narcissistic personality disorder is nearly three times as high for people in their 20s as it is for people 65 and older. This is a result of the Boomers’ flawed attempt at instilling self-esteem in their kids. Raising children where everyone receives a prize creates unrealistic self-perceptions.

The younger generations are getting married later and less, because the hippy generation promoted a hook-up attitude instead of traditional dating. The app Tinder has made hook-ups all too easy. The median age of marriage is 30 years old. It was 23 years old in the 1970s. Women are more likely to have a child out of wedlock, which often results in single parents who live with their parents to help with expenses and child care, or who go on welfare. Almost half of the births to women in the Millennial generation were out of wedlock. In contrast, when Generation X was the Millennials’ age, only 35 percent of births were out of wedlock. The left helped achieve this by despising the notion of a nuclear family, saying anything goes.

#1  Almost half of the births to women in the Millennial generation were out of wedlock.

There is no allowance in this age generalization for single parent effects of 'cultural behavior'. Single black mothers abandoned by their respective sperm donors may not be millennials.

#2  Economic hopelessness and despair are probably not personality traits inherited from birth. Decades of Great Society 'entitlement class' education and employment preferences may have had a bit to do with it as well, possibly a great deal.

Of course these government social manipulations have produced amazing results.

Ben Stein: Presumptions of innocence have vanished for good.
[American Spectator] Now for a few words about the "sex scandals" rocking the nation:

As usual, Mr. Trump put his finger on the exact issue about Judge Roy Moore a few days ago. A woman reporter shouted out to him something like, "Is it better to have an accused child molester in the Senate than a Democrat?"

Mr. Trump hit it out of the park. "He denies it all. He totally denies it," said the President. He thereby got to the crux of the matter. Judge Moore is accused of various misdeeds. There’s no proof of any of it. It might be true and it might not be true. But if the voters of Alabama elect Judge Moore to the Senate, is Mitch McConnell seriously planning to destroy the will of the voters of Alabama and the Constitution because of the allegations of a group of teenagers? Would we really fail to seat a Senator because of gossip ‐ totally unproved ‐ about events forty years ago? Surely the question answers itself. Don’t get me wrong, we should not have a child molester in the Senate. But we don’t know if Mr. Moore ever was a child molester. We have the presumption of innocence in this country. To throw it all away because of the recollections of a long ago teenager seems almost unbelievable.

Democratic 'Icon' Conyers Threatens to Take the Whole Damn Swamp Down With Him!
[Gateway Pundit] Peter Hasson describes for the Daily Caller the remarkable vague threat emanating for the attorney representing John Conyers:
The attorney for Democratic Michigan Rep. John Conyers, who is accused of continuously sexually harassing his female staffers, defended Conyers by indicating that there are allegations against "many members" of the House and Senate.

Conyers’ attorney, Arnold E. Reed, released a statement defending the Michigan Democrat and pushing back against the "disturbing allegations." The bizarre statement was written in all-CAPS and referred to both Reed and Conyers in the third person.

This could get fun.

Bret Weinstein: Social Justice Warriors Are ‘Taking Over More And More Territory' On College Campuses
h/t Instapundit
Bret Weinstein is the former Evergreen State College biology professor who became the focus of a social justice witch hunt on campus earlier this year. Weinstein and his wife later sued for several million dollars but agreed to a settlement for $500,000 in exchange for leaving the school. All that to say, Weinstein is the voice of experience when it comes to the mob of social justice warriors on campus.

In this brief interview recorded late last month, Weinstein argues several interesting points. First, he believes the social justice warriors are winning their battle to control campuses. "I don’t think that we can say that the entire educational apparatus is a failure," Weinstein said. He continued, "But we can say that the part of the apparatus that is a failure is taking over more and more territory.

"The number of classes in a university that are immune to this extremely broken way of thinking is ever smaller. And I think we can even see from here the day in which it will be no classes that are immune because every class is going to be subject to some set of rules that is built around this very naive notion of privilege and white supremacy and all of that. So that day is coming."

This all goes back to one of the reasons Weinstein became a pariah among the far left on his former campus. He objected to a new "equity" platform introduced at the college which would have made social equity a factor in all future hiring decisions. He argued at the time that professors teaching in STEM fields should be hired based on academic qualifications without regard to social justice concerns. And as we all know, he was eventually branded a racist and students demanded he resign.
And that's boys & girls why the evil capitalists prefer to hire foreign educated foreigners

Classy NFL: Talib and Crabtree fight after chain snatch - Game attendance continues decline
OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) ‐ Michael Crabtree apparently came into the game looking for a fight.

Still upset after Denver cornerback Aqib Talib ripped a chain off his neck last season, Crabtree didn’t take long to seek revenge in his first game against the Broncos this season, leading to a full-blown brawl and three ejections on Sunday during Oakland’s 21-14 win over the Broncos.

"I guess his initiative was to come out there and fight today," said Denver cornerback Chris Harris Jr., who said Crabtree "sucker punched" him on the previous play.

"I guess it wasn’t to play football. He came out there, just punched me in the stomach and I lost my breath."

Crabtree has been angry ever since Talib ripped Crabtree’s chain off his neck during the regular-season finale last season. Crabtree sat out the first meeting this season in Denver with a chest injury, but sought retribution Sunday.

Eco-Terrorist Explains Why She Tried To Kill An Oil Pipeline ‐ Her Defense Is Disturbing
[Daily Caller] An eco-terrorist responsible for sabotaging an oil pipeline in North Dakota suggested Saturday that shutting down the multi-billion dollar line was necessary to defuse the ticking time bomb of man-made global warming.

Temporarily taking offline a pair of pipelines in Minnesota earlier this year was part of an effort to save the world from fossil fuels, Seattle activist and poet Emily Johnston wrote in an editorial for The Guardian. A judge is allowing her to use a "necessity defense" to justify her actions last year against the Enbridge pipeline.

"As recent months have made clear, climate change is not only an imminent threat; it is an existing catastrophe. It’s going to get worse, and tar sands oil‐the dirtiest oil on Earth‐is one of the reasons," Johnston wrote, referring to a spate of hurricanes that clobbered the U.S. earlier this summer.

Clearwater County District Judge Robert Tiffany gave Johnston ‐ and other activists from anti-oil group, Climate Direct Action ‐ the option of arguing the fear of cataclysmic climate change justifies any action taken to stymie oil production and transport. The judge’s decision allows the group to produce various climate experts to testify about the upcoming climate Armageddon.

#7  "Our conclusion is that the system is broken and it is up to us as individuals to take peaceful action and remedy it, and this we did, out of necessity," Montoya said...
Craig Stevens, a spokesman for the Grow America's Infrastructure Now Coalition, a pro-pipeline group which includes business and labor interests, called the two women's statements a "stunning admission of guilt." "Despite their repeated claims, in no way are the use of gasoline, motor oil, fire and welding torches to destroy construction equipment or pierce pipelines acts of 'peaceful' protest," Stevens said. "These are violent criminals hiding beneath the veneer of young women. They are lucky they were not seriously injured or killed.
Reznicek and Montoya are active in the Des Moines Catholic Worker community, which was founded in 1976 in response to the Gospel call for compassionate action as summarized by the Sermon on the Mount. The Catholic Worker community has four houses in Des Moines that focus on a nonviolent lifestyle while serving the poor.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Twice-Deported Illegal Alien Raped Mentally Disabled Girl
Hat tip to Bright Pebbles.
[IllegalAlienCrimeReport] McCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (WPSD) – Leonel Vazquez pleaded guilty to sexually abusing an underage, developmentally delayed girl he did not know in a public place. He was first arrested on that charge in June. Now, we’re learning Vazqez, an illegal immigrant, was deported at least twice to Mexico before committing that crime.

I just found out it’s been more than twice. A spokesperson for the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement emailed me just before the 6 p.m. newscast Tuesday to tell me he was “voluntary returned” to Mexico twice in 2000, then convicted of a DUI in 2004 in a Georgia court, then deported twice in 2014. We do not know what other charges he might have faced.

But the big concern for investigators, and the mother of the victim in this case, is that this shouldn’t have even happened. We’ve hidden her identity to protect the victim.

During their stay between moves, it was supposed to be a vacation for Brenda’s family. That vacation was short-lived.

Brenda says, “She ran and beat on the door. We opened the door. You could hear the panic in her voice.”

Vazquez was caught on tape sexually assaulting Brenda’s daughter.

“She said she dropped her money. She bent over to pick up her money, and that’s when he grabbed her,” Brenda says.

But it shouldn’t have happened in the first place. Detective Sarah Martin says: “We found out he’s been deported two other times, so this will be his third time being deported after he’s sentenced.”

Now, Vazquez is in jail, facing five years in prison. But Martin says he may not have to face much prison time if any at all, because once the judge sentences Vazquez, the federal government at any point could deport him back to Mexico.

Vazquez will be sentenced Dec. 4. He pleaded guilty, accepting a plea deal to the maximum five years in prison.

Carjacker returns stolen vehicle with baby on board, mother faces criminal charges
[RT] A car thief reportedly stole ‐ and almost immediately returned ‐ a Cadillac in Leningrad Region, Russia, when he realized that targeting vehicle made him a kidnapper. The reason for this was that a three-month-old baby was inside the car.

While the thief seems to have disappeared, it is the baby's mother who is now the subject of a criminal case, local police reported this weekend. The woman left the baby unattended in her Cadillac Escalade while she went shopping.

On Friday, the 34-year-old mother called the police, saying her car has disappeared from a store parking lot in the village of Poroshkino near St. Petersburg. Her child was inside the vehicle, the woman said. However,
a hangover is the wrath of grapes...
when officers arrived at the scene, they found not only the car but also the baby and the woman there, with the latter claiming her Escalade had been returned some 15 minutes after she called the police.

#1  The baby was helpless and needed to be protected by the mother. She should have taken the baby with her. In Russia, if the car thief took the vehicle and baby at gun point, would she still face charges?

In Georgia, USA, I am told that if you have a weapon in a locked car at your residence and it is stolen and later used in a crime by the thief, the owner of the firearm could be liable for harm caused by the weapon if it is used in a crime if the loss of the firearm is not reported to authorities.

#3  746, I'm wandering off the topic into the weeds quite a bit but what you say is a good reason not to blow the theft off as bad luck and to report it. Some of these thefts get reported as "Lost Items" by the police rather than felonies--probably to keep down the crime statistics down. Different jurisdictions do it differently depending on a number of things about the theft. IMO there's a slim to none chance of recovering stolen firearms. Homeowner's policies might provide some relieve and the NRA has a firearms policy with membership. However, it doesn't seem right to stick the NRA carrier with the tab for your loss--it didn't have anything to do with them. Meanwhile, one can pray that your stolen firearm does not hurt anyone in a crime.

Britain
Sectarian war on UK turf: Ahmadi mosques introduce extra security to stop terrorist attacks
[RT] British members of the Ahmadi sect, seen as heretics by most Moslems, have had to install "airport-style" metal detectors and conduct searches in their mosques to avoid a spillover of religious antagonism that is currently rocking the Islamic world.

"Our community is under attack by holy warriors but our commitment to peace and love is unshakeable. We appreciate the work of the authorities and they must continue to work diligently for the protection and safety of all citizens," Farooq Aftab, a member of the Ahmadiyya Moslem Community UK (AMC) told the Times.

"People who don’t think we are Moslems are entitled to their own point of view, but a line must be drawn because violence cannot be justified," said Aftab. "We can disagree, but we have a right to freedom of religion.

Inspired by the teachings of a 19th century Ahmadis diverge from mainstream Islamic teachings, primarily in believing that Mohammed was not the last prophet of Allah, and in rejecting military jihad. They comprise 30,000 ‐ fewer than 1 percent of UK’s Islamic population ‐ but have had to relocated their headquarters to London to avoid persecution elsewhere.

Police open fire on charging migrant car in Calais
[TheLocal.fr] French police opened fire Saturday on a car carrying migrants colonists near the port of Calais as it sped toward a group of officers trying to halt it for a check, authorities said.

None of the nine migrants colonists aboard the vehicle was maimed, but the car hit one of the officers and injured his knee.

Calais is a key jumping off point for migrants colonists seeking to break into Britannia-bound trucks or pay smugglers to help them get across the Channel.

"The vehicle hit an officer, whose knee was slightly injured. The officers opened fire", stopping the vehicle, a local official told AFP.

Earlier in the day five migrants colonists were maimed in an exchange of gunfire between groups of Afghan migrants colonists in Calais, which officials blamed on violence between traffickers.

That shooting does not appear to be linked to the car incident, which happened on a road leading to the port.

The local prefect's office told AFP the apparent score settling happened near a Catholic aid centre outside the centre of the northern port city.

One man was reportedly taken to hospital after being hit in the abdomen.

Drone kills 7 Qaeda suspects in Yemen
[Al Ahram] A dronezap has killed seven suspected members of al-Qaeda in southern Yemen, a security official said on Sunday.

The United States is the only force known to operate armed drones over Yemen.

"A drone likely to be American" killed all seven overnight as they were aboard three vehicles on the road from the southern province of Shabwa to the central province of Bayda, the official said.

Iraq to Build New Oil Pipeline to Turkey
[AnNahar] Iraq is to build a new pipeline to allow oil exports to resume from the northern province of Kirkuk to neighbouring The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
, the oil ministry said Sunday.

Oil Minister Jabbar al-Luaybi has ordered documents to be prepared towards building the new pipeline to "transport crude oil from Kirkuk's oilfields to the port of Ceyhan" in Turkey, a ministry front man said in a statement.

An older pipeline was "too damaged by attacks by ISIS terrorist gangs to be rehabilitated," Assem Jihad said, using an Arabic acronym for the Islamic State

group.

Iraq had exported 250,000 to 400,000 barrels per day (bpd) through that pipeline before IS jihadists swept across large parts of the country in 2014.

The new pipeline is to stretch for around 250 kilometers (150 miles) from the area of Baiji, in the province of Salaheddine to the south of Kirkuk,
... a thick stew of Arabs, Turkmen, Kurds, and probably Antarcticans, all of them mutually hostile most of the time...
to the Fishkhabur border post with Turkey further north.

Earlier this month, the oil minister said Iraq aimed to double the output of Kirkuk oilfields to one million bpd after retaking the province from Kurdish forces in October.

Iraqi government and paramilitary forces moved in to take over Kirkuk and its oilfields after Iraqi Kurds in September voted for independence in a controversial referendum opposed by Baghdad.

Yazidis found in mass grave in Ninevah
Nineveh (IraqiNews.com) A mass grave, composed of relics of Yazidi victims, was found in Nineveh province, a security source said.

Brig. Gen. Mohamed al-Shemari, of the Iraqi army, said troops ran into a mass grave in Baaj town, west of Mosul. Tens of victims, executed by Islamic State members, were found there.

The grave was composed of relics of 98 Yazidi victims, who were killed by IS when they were controlling the region in 2014. The relics will be recovered to be identified and handed over to their families.

On Saturday, the semi-official Al-Sabah newspaper quoted Shukr Melham Ilyas, head of Qahtaniyah town, as saying that troops confiscated a grave with relics of 73 Yazidi women, men and children in Rambousi region, west of Mosul.

Many Yazidis were persecuted and held in Mosul by Islamic State, which considered them devil-worshippers.

Greek football hooligans attack Pakistanis celebrating Prophet Mohammed’s birthday in Athens
[RT] Riot police in Athens had to intervene in festivities between Greek soccer club fans heading for a game and the Pak community celebrating a religious holiday marking the Prophet Mohammed’s birthday. Tear gas and stun grenades have been deployed.

Brief but ferocious festivities happened in the center of the Greek capital on Sunday, AP reported. While there have been no serious injuries or arrests, law enforcement had to use tough anti-riot methods to stop the violence. Roscosmos & S7 airlines to create orbital spaceport
[RT] Russia’s state space agency Roscosmos and Russia’s S7 airline have agreed to construct an orbital cosmodrome, according to a source in the aerospace industry, as quoted by daily Izvestia.

"We have been successfully cooperating with S7 for a long time and plan to continue this partnership," the source told the media.

The new complex is expected to be used to assemble and fuel space vehicles and launch them into near-earth orbits as well as for Moon and Mars flights. The port is also planned as a refueling and supply point, and other functions related to space projects.

One of the S7 group’s ten subsidiaries is involved in space rocket launches. The company owns Sea Launch, the floating rocket launching system, which uses a mobile maritime launch platform for equatorial launches of commercial payloads. S7 purchased the platform in September 2016.

The agreement is unprecedented for the Russian space industry, according to Andrey Ionin, the member of the Russian Academy of Cosmonautics.

"This is going to be the first big agreement involving a large private investor in the Russian space industry. It is a unique situation not only for Russia but for the whole world as a new stage requiring the creation of new rocket and space systems is coming," he said, as quoted by the media.

Islamist protesters clash with Pakistan police for second day
[Al Ahram] Islamist party activists on Sunday clashed with security forces for a second day on the outskirts of Pakistain's capital, Islamabad, burning vehicles before withdrawing to a protest camp they have occupied for more than two weeks, police said.

According media reports at least six people were killed on the previous day, when several thousand police and paramilitary tried to disperse a sit-in protest by the religious hard-liners, who have blocked the main route into the capital from the neighbouring garrison city of Rawalpindi.

More than 125 people were maimed in Saturday's failed crackdown, and police superintendent Amir Niazi said 80 members of the security forces were among the casualties.

On Sunday morning, smoke billowed from the charred remains of a car and three cycle of violences near the protest camp, where several thousand members of the Tehrik-e-Labaid party have gathered in defiance.

Police and paramilitary forces had surrounded the camp in the Faizabad district between the two cities, but no army troops were on the scene, despite a call the night before by the civilian government for the military to help restore order.

"We will move when we have orders," Niazi, the police superintendent, said on Saturday. "What the protesters did yesterday was in no means was lawful. They attacked our forces."

Activists from Tehrik-e-Labaik have blocked the main road into the capital for two weeks, accusing the law minister of blasphemy against Islam and demanding his dismissal and arrest.

"We are in our thousands. We will not leave. We will fight until end," Tehrik-e-Labaik party front man Ejaz Ashrafi told Rooters on Saturday.

Tehrik-e-Labaik is one of two new ultra-religious political movements that became prominent in recent months.

While Islamist parties are unlikely to win a majority they could play a major role in elections that must be held by summer next year.

Iran Warns It Would Increase Missile Range If Threatened By Europe
[OANN] The deputy head of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards warned Europe that if it threatens Tehran, the Guards will increase the range of missiles to above 2,000 kilometers, the Fars news agency reported on Saturday.
Somehow, I suspect that what constitutes a "threat" will be considerably elastic.
France has called for an "uncompromising" dialogue with Iran about its ballistic missile program and a possible negotiation over the issue separate from Tehran’s 2015 nuclear deal with world powers.

Iran has repeatedly said its missile program is defensive and not negotiable.

"If we have kept the range of our missiles to 2,000 kilometers, it’s not due to lack of technology. ... We are following a strategic doctrine," Brigadier General Hossein Salami said, according to Fars.

"So far we have felt that Europe is not a threat, so we did not increase the range of our missiles. But if Europe wants to turn into a threat, we will increase the range of our missiles," he added.

The head of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards military force, Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari, said last month that Iran’s 2,000-kilometre missile range could cover "most of American interest and forces" within the region, so Iran did not need to extend it.

Jafari said the ballistic missile range was based on the limits set by the country’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who is the head of armed forces.

Iran has one of the Middle East’s largest missile programs and some of its precision-guided missiles have the range to strike Israel.

China shuts main route into North Korea
[INDEPENDENT.CO.UK] China is temporarily closing its main road connection with North Korea, an official said on Friday.

Geng said that "after the maintenance, the bridge will reopen for passage," but gave no date for the reopening or other details.

The bridge closure comes after state-owned airline Air China suspended flights Tuesday between Beijing and North Korea due to a lack of demand, deepening the North's isolation amid mounting UN sanctions.

Militants suffer casualties in premature Zabul and Wardak bombings
[Khaama Press] The anti-government armed murderous Moslems have suffered casualties in three separate premature bombings in southern Zabul and central Maidan Wardak provinces of Afghanistan.

The Ministry of Defense of Afghanistan in its latest operational update has stated that the kabooms took place in the past twenty four hours in different locations.

According to MoD, at least two murderous Moslems were killed and two others were maimed in an kaboom in Syedabad district of Wardak province.

The ministry further added that another Death Eater was killed after his explosives went off prematurely in Arghandab district of Zabul province.

In another incident in Shamulz district of Zabul, at least three murderous Moslems were killed and another Death Eater was maimed, MoD added.

The Ministry of Defense says the three separate incidents took place while the murderous Moslems were busy planting roadside kabooms.

The anti-government armed Death Eater groups frequently use explosives materials for the roadside kaboomings and boom-mobileings to target the government staff and security personnel.

However,
facts are stubborn; statistics are more pliable...
in majority of such incidents the ordinary civilians are targeted besides such bombings incur casualties to the security personnel and in some cases the Talibs themselves are killed or maimed.

six suspects in the West Bank overnight Saturday.

Three are accused of involvement in terror activities and violent rioting. The suspects were brought in for interrogation.

IDF clashes with 40 Palestinians in Beit Ummar; one rioter hurt

[Ynet] IDF forces clashed with some 40 Paleostinian rioters in the town of Beit Ummar in the West Bank. Paleostinians hurled stones at the soldiers, who responded with crowd dispersal measures. One of the main agitators was moderately hurt and taken to a Jerusalem hospital for treatment.

No IDF soldiers were hurt in the incident.

a 17-year-old Paleostinian at the Tomb of the Patriarchs in Hebron, armed with a knife he tried to smuggler into the compound.

The suspect arrived at one of the checkpoints and the soldiers noticed that he was trying to hide something behind his shirt. After the force found out he was hiding a knife, the youth was arrested and transferred for further questioning.

Shots fired at IDF post near Ramallah, no injuries reported

[IsraelTimes] Paleostinians fired shots at a IDF post near Ramallah, though no injuries were reported, the army said Sunday evening.

Six bullet casings were found at the scene, and forces were searching the area for the shooters, the army added.

Saudi Daily Says Hizbullah Opened Hamas Bank Accounts in Algeria
If you're ever in a jam, here I am.
If you're ever in a mess, S.O.S.
If you're so happy, you land in jail. I'm your bail.
It's friendship, friendship, just a perfect blendship.
When other friendships are soon forgot, ours will still be hot
[AnNahar] Hizbullah
...Party of God, a Leb militia inspired, founded, funded and directed by Iran. Hizbullah refers to itself as The Resistance and purports to defend Leb against Israel, with whom it has started and lost one disastrous war to date, though it did claim victory...
has opened bank accounts for Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth", leaders in Algeria, a Saudi newspaper reported on Sunday.
So possibly it is true.
"The money that has been injected into these accounts was transferred from local banks in Algeria and from accounts belonging to individuals who are loyal to Hizbullah and are residents of the Algerian capital," the Okaz daily quoted a source close to Hamas as saying.

"The new bank accounts were opened under the name of Hamas leader Sami Abu Zahri, who had moved from the Gazoo Strip to Cairo before moving to live in Algeria last month," the source added.

Egyptian UN peacekeeper killed in Central Africa ambush
[Al Ahram] An Egyptian peacekeeper with the UN mission in the Central African Republic (CAR) was killed and three others maimed Sunday in an ambush, authorities said.

The soldier died in an attack carried out by "armed elements affiliated with the anti-Balaka movement," the UN peacekeeping mission MINUSCA said.

Anti-Balaka were nominally Christian militias organised in response to the bloody sectarian violence unleashed by Moslem-majority Seleka
...a 'mainly' Moslem rebel force in the Central African Republic that overthrew the govt, imposed a regime of rapine and looting on the country's non-Moslem population, and was then tossed by France. They still exist, getting funding and weapons from somewhere or other, licking their wounds, complaining about the oppression of Moslems, and occasionally raping and looting someone...
rebels in 2013.

Mired in poverty but rich in minerals, CAR has been battered by a three-year conflict between the rival militias that began after then-president Francois Bozize was tossed.

During the attack on Sunday near the southern town of Gambo, three other peacekeepers were maimed and five attackers were "neutralised", MINUSCA said.

The attack happened while a MINUSCA convoy was making a run to reinforce a base.

The soldier's death raises to 13 the number of peacekeepers killed in attacks in CAR this year.

‘Sexbots are coming’: Scientists say ‘digisexuals’ inevitable as more people bond with robots
[RT] Academics are arguing that many people will soon be identifying as "digisexuals" and taking their sexual identity from having sex with robots.
Women are too complicated. Your robot doesn't need bought dinner, doesn't have PMS, doesn't ask you to take out the garbage. She never complains about the way you smell, has massive bewbies and buttox, but she doesn't keep house.
While sex robots are currently quite primitive, a new report published in the Journal of Sexual and Relationship Therapy argues that before long they will be able to look, speak and act like real people - and will be specifically designed to fulfill a person’s desires.
Robots with a Jolly Green Giant Creamed Corn fetish?
The report’s authors, Neil McArthur and Markie L. C. Twist, from the University of Manitoba, Canada, argue that we need to be ready to deal with the phenomenon when it comes to fruition.
I can see this will contribute to morality, stability, and setting a good example for the children, if any.
"There is no question, then, that sexbots are coming," McArthur and Twist say. "Our view is that they will represent a different sort of sexual experience from what existing technologies offer. First of all, people will form an intense connection with their robot companions."
"X98276, I'm falling in love with you!"
[BZDEEP!]

"These robots will be tailor-made to meet people's desires, and will do things that human partners cannot or will not do. For this reason, significant numbers of people will likely come to use robots as their primary mode of sexual experience."
On the other hand: Saudi Arabian robot citizen wants a baby
The pair, who also co-authored the book "Robot Sex: A Book for the Enlightened Sapiosexual," argue that the rise of digisexuality will bring benefits, including potentially saving human relationships.
Not saving human population.
They also say that digisexuality will have a positive impact, particularly for people who experienced sexual trauma in the past or for those who have difficulty forming human relationships.
So now you can sit in your room alone. All your friends can be digital,
your shopping can be digital, and your love life can be digital. I recommend a healthy slug of digitalis.

However they warn that it will also bring a slew of difficulties and argue that doctors must be prepared to deal with digisexuality and have a framework for how to approach it.
No! Re-e-e-e-eally?
Noel Sharkey of the Foundation for Responsible Robotics (FRR) recently argued against sex robots being used by the elderly in care homes. "They are being proposed for the elderly in care homes, which I think is controversial.
Given the level of STDs already to be found in nursing homes...
If you have severe Alzheimer’s you can’t really tell the difference. We need to think about as a society what we want to do about it," the researcher said.
So no anatomically correct digital love for the geriatric set. I saw another article that people with rape fantasies shouldn't be allowed to rape their robots -- stick with real flesh and blood. There was another one that said pedos shouldn't be allowed to buy robot partners with the bodies of a nine-year-old. Seems to me those are the sort of people who should be encouraged to explore their digital sexuality, while the normal and the near normal should be encouraged to get together for some serious fleshly encounters.
"It’s very sad because it’s going to be a one-way relationship," he continued. "If people bond with robots it’s very worrying. You are loving an artifact that can’t love you back, and the best they can do is fake it."
Doh.
I suspect that once the novelty wears off, about the same people will turn to such devices as currently use vibrators and similar aids. The dolls, eventually no doubt available in male as well as female versions, will become the punchline of the same jokes.
... and cost about the same as a new car.

#1  The real losers will be women. Big-time. They have a ton of power over men by withholding sex. If men can get sex without having to jump through women's hoops, the changes will be earth shaking. Men achieve great things purely to impress women. That's coming to a stop too.

#3  Short term, perhaps, Harcourt Angoluting9366. But some men go to prostitutes or have affairs while still marrying — it has always been so. How is a pretend woman different?

Some men achieve to impress women, yes. Some achieve to compete with other men, and some simply for their own satisfaction. Mr. Wife is in the third category — I would have been perfectly happy had he remained an engineer all his life, or gone on to something else that made him happier and earnt less, so long as he did it well. I didn’t marry him to live in a big house and have a lavish wardrobe*, and he has always known this. In fact, at one point in his career, when he was desperately unhappy with his management but perfectly willing to stay on to keep us in the lifestyle to which he desired us to continue to be accustomed, I gave him an ultimatum: he had six months to find a new job within or outside the company where he could be happy. I didn’t care which, and would willingly have again followed him far from Cincinnati if necessary, but he was not allowed to be a slave merely to maintain a certain income, even though he was willing. He beat my deadline.

*For the record, I do not have a lavish wardrobe. Mr. Wife has been known to complain about this.

Breitbart adds:

"It was a house of worship where infidel activities were performed against sharia. Those who were harmed were not civilians. Faizabad becomes Waterloo for security personnel
[DAWN] The events of Saturday saw Faizabad Interchange become a Waterloo for law enforcement agencies, who despite their superior numbers, were unable to contain the demonstrators and ensure their dispersal.

Even though they were able to push the protesters back considerably and isolate them on the Murree Road bridge over Faizabad, participants of the Tehrik-e-Labbaik Ya Rasool Allah sit-in first lured law enforcers into a false sense of security, cornered them and then beat them within an inch of their lives, eyewitnesses told Dawn.

Besides, the operation was conducted half-heartedly and security personnel found themselves falling back more times than they were able to advance.

On Saturday morning, when the capital administration’s final deadline for protesters to vacate the interchange expired, preparations had been made and over 8,000 police, Frontier Constabulary and Pubjab Constabulary personnel were stationed around Faizabad, on I.J.Principal Road and on both sides of the Islamabad Expressway and Murree Road.

Just before 8am, the troops began to converge on Faizabad from all four sides, and in response, the protesters began pelting them with stones and slingshots.

The security personnel countered this with teargas shells, rubber bullets and restored to batoncharging the protesters. In the melee, it emerged that the demonstrators had teargas canisters of their own, which they lobbed towards police to devastating effect.

According to eyewitnesses, the protesters’ canisters were more advanced than the ones police had. In addition, police found themselves firing teargas into the wind, which ended up debilitating the force rather than the protesters.

Initially, as media reported the action blow-by-blow, the protesters kept getting information about their movements from the media and were able to resist the initial onslaught, which lasted until 11am.

By this time, the demonstrators had been beaten back and limited to a small portion of the Faizabad Bridge.

Here, they formed a defensive ring around the truck which carried the Tehrik-e-Labbaik Ya Rasool Allah leadership ‐ including Khadim Hussain Rizvi ‐ and repelled the advance of security forces.

Police officials told Dawn that personnel did not want to target the truck, as there were young children on it at the time. The standoff here continued for around 90 minutes.

However,
Caliphornia hasn't yet slid into the ocean, no matter how hard it's tried...
when the tired police force backed off, they were able to regroup. The protesters were also very well prepared, having masks and shields to protect themselves from teargas shells, stones and batons. The sit-in leaders even made announcement in Pashto addressing FC personnel, asking them to stop their action and leave.

During this initial clash, over 300 personnel and 53 protesters were maimed and were shifted to various hospitals for medical treatment.

Some personnel were given treatment on the spot and asked to remain there, amid fears of a shortage of manpower.

Over 300 protesters were also enjugged
Maw! They're comin' to get me, Maw!
from around Faizabad in this time. FC and police even vented their anger on the hapless demonstrators, beating the injured and the arrested persons even as they were being shifted to ambulances and prison vans.

Sources said that four pistols, several axes, and numerous slingshots were recovered from some of the men.

Meanwhile,
...back at the cheese factory, all the pieces finally fell together in Fluffy's mind...
protesters and their supporters gathered in different places, including Banigala, Bhara Kahu and Lehtrar Road, police said, and began to engage the contingents positioned around Rawal Dam Chowk and Islamabad Expressway.

Nineveh (IraqiNews.com) Dozens of Islamic State militants were killed in air raids by the Iraqi army on Hatra city, Nineveh, the military media said.

“Iraqi warplanes killed scores of IS terrorists and destroyed two of their armored vehicles, west of Hatra city, as part of the military operation launched on Thursday to liberate al-Jazirah, the desert area falling between Nineveh, Salahuddin and Anbar provinces, from IS militants,” the Defense Ministry’s War Media Cell said in a statement on Sunday.

“Also, a bobby-trapped vehicle hidden at an IS hideout, west of Hatra, was destroyed as part of the military operation,” the statement read.

The Joint Operations Command announced on Saturday that only fifty percent of the regions between Salahuddin and Anbar provinces were liberated.

4 ISIS troops die in airstrikes in Ninevah
Nineveh (IraqiNews.com) Four Islamic State militants were killed in an airstrike carried out by Iraqi army in Nineveh province, security sources were quoted saying.

Iraqi fighter jets targeted six locations of IS remnants at the boundaries of Hammam al-Alil, south of Mosul, Col. Abdul Salam al-Jabouri, of the army, told Anadolu agency on Saturday.

“Some havens by the Tigris River and on islands in the river, where the militants are hiding, were targeted,” he added.

Meanwhile, Cap. Ahmed al-Jabouri, of the military’s Nineveh Operations Command, said “four IS members were killed due to the airstrikes there.”

“The shelling took place simultaneously with an operation on the ground carried out by Federal Police to destroy the IS hideouts, from which they attack surrounding regions,” he said.

“Federal Police cordoned off the region and used boats to invade it in search for militants,” he added.

Govt calls in Punjab Rangers to 'handle' Islamabad protesters
[DAWN] The federal government on Sunday evening called in Punjab
1.) Little Orphan Annie's bodyguard
2.) A province of Pakistain ruled by one of the Sharif brothers
3.) A province of India. It is majority (60 percent) Sikh and Hindoo (37 percent), which means it has relatively few Moslem riots....

Rangers to assist civilian law-enforcement agencies and tasked them with handling the agitated law and order situation in Islamabad and clearing the sit-ins held in Faizabad and adjoining areas, DawnNews reported.

According to a notification issued by the interior ministry, a copy of which is available with DawnNews, Punjab Rangers DG Maj Gen Azhar Naveed will lead the whole operation.

The notification mentions that the Rangers have been given a week's time to carry out the orders, since the special powers have been extended to them with effect from November 26 until December 3, 2017.

Earlier in the day, Rangers were given charge of the Faizabad operation, in a bid to control the chaos in the capital. Around 1,000 Rangers personnel, who were deployed in Islamabad yesterday, have been repositioned to the frontlines of the security operation.

Top civil and military officials had earlier decided against the use of force to disperse protesters in Islamabad, opting instead to engage in political negotiations with agitators in the capital, DawnNews reported.

There had been no official confirmation of the development.

Chief of Army Staff Qamar Jawed Bajwa, who flew in from the United Arab Emirates, attended the over two-hour-long meeting headed by Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, along with Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal and Director-General (DG) Inter-Services Intelligence
...the Pak military intelligence agency that controls the military -- heads of ISI typically get promoted into the Chief of Army Staff position. Naveed Mukhtar.

The officials decided to engage in protest leaders "with influence", DawnNews reported, adding that the use of force against protesters has been discouraged in favour of a political settlement.

The meeting was held at Prime Minister House to discuss the unstable law and order situation in the capital in the aftermath of a botched operation to disperse protesters at the Faizabad Interchange on Saturday.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Russian Long Range Aviation continues to pound targets in Deir Ezzor
The Russian military says six of its Tupolev Tu-22M3 long-range bombers have once again successfully launched airstrikes against positions of the ISIL Takfiri terrorist group in Syria’s eastern province of Deir Ezzor as government forces, supported by allied fighters from popular defense groups, are fighting to totally retake the region from the terrorists.

According to a statement by the Russian Defense Ministry, the large bombers, which flew from an airfield in Russia, hit “terrorist strongholds” in the valley of the Euphrates River in the volatile province.

The airstrikes came a day after a similar attack the Russian bombers carried out in the same province against ISIL’s fortified areas, manpower and armored vehicles near Abbas town, which lies northwest of the recently-liberated Bukamal town and near the border with Iraq.

Six Russian Tupolev Tu-22M3 long-range bombers have targeted ISIL positions near Syria’s eastern town of al-Bukamal on the border with Iraq.

in a raid to loot food supplies, military and civilian militia sources said on Sunday, in the latest attack in the restive region.

The attack happened on Saturday evening when a large number of jihadists stormed Magumeri, some 50 kilometres (30 miles) north of the Borno state capital, Maiduguri.

The town and surrounding area have been attacked before by fighters loyal to the Islamic State

-group supported factional leader of Boko Haram, Abu Mus'ab al-Barnawi.

In July, at least 69 people -- most of them soldiers and civilian militia members -- were killed in an ambush on a heavily armed convoy escorting an oil exploration team.

"It was a huge invasion," a military source in Maiduguri told AFP of Saturday night's attack.

"They had heavy weapons and our troops were overwhelmed. After a fierce battle, they were forced to withdraw.

"Reinforcements were later deployed and they engaged the terrorists, pushing them out of the town, which is now under the full control of the Nigerian military.

"Civilians who had fled into the bushes have begun returning to their homes."

A member of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) added: "Boko Haram briefly took over Magumeri yesterday (Saturday) after pushing soldiers out of the town.

"Civilians fled as well. But later more soldiers were sent and they took over the town from Boko Haram."

Boko Haram was only in the town for several hours until early Sunday, he added.

"This is a classic Boko Haram attack: to loot supplies and assert their presence. Even if troops hadn't deployed they would have withdrawn after looting and destruction," the CJTF member said.

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Two Islamic State depots used for storing explosives and arms were destroyed in Anbar province on Sunday, the Interior Ministry said.

“Iraqi policemen destroyed two arms depots that were used by IS militants at al-Karmah city and near the Japanese bridge in Anbar,” Spokesman for the Interior Ministry Saad Maan said in a statement.

“A huge explosion was heard as a result of the crackdown on the IS warehouses,” Maan said, adding that no casualties were reported.

On Saturday, three civilians were killed as a bomb went off inside a hospital in western Anbar.

In remarks to SNG website, Qutri al-Obeidi, a senior leader with al-Hashd al-Shaabi (Popular Mobilization Forces) said, “A bomb that was placed by IS militants inside a hospital in Rawa town, exploded, leaving three civilians killed.”

Syrian government push for Damascus rebel enclave kills at least 19
[Al Ahram] An intensifying push by the Syrian government and allied forces to take the last major rebel stronghold near the capital Damascus killed at least 19 people on Sunday and injured many, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

The group said at least 123 people, including 26 children, have been killed by air strikes and shelling since the Syrian army backed by Russian jets began an offensive nearly two weeks ago to take the besieged rebel-held Eastern Ghouta area.

Eastern Ghouta is one of several "de-escalation" zones across western Syria, where Russia has brokered deals to ease the fighting between rebels and Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Scourge of Qusayr...
's government.

A Rooters witness said there had been drones in the sky since Sunday morning and warplanes had heavily bombarded the towns of Mesraba and Harasta. Heavy shelling also hit Eastern Ghouta and dozens had been injured.

Assad's forces have besieged Eastern Ghouta since 2012 and the area is suffering a humanitarian crisis.

Ghouta residents are so short of food that they are eating trash, fainting from hunger and forcing their children to eat on alternate days, the U.N. World Food Programme said in a report this week.

The opposition Eastern Ghouta Damascus Countryside local council said this week the escalating bombardment was forcing people to seek shelter in unsuitable and unsanitary places which it feared could lead to disease outbreaks.

A number of shells from the rebel enclave have hit government-held Damascus in the past two weeks.

Fort Benning Spent $35 Million To Accommodate Female Infantry Recruits
[Breitbart] Since the Pentagon lifted the ban on women serving in combat, more than 80 women have gone through training at Fort Benning, Ga., but before that training could begin, the Army had to pay millions for female dorms, security cameras and other renovations, The Associated Press reports.

So far, 22 women have graduated, while 30 others were still undergoing infantry training as of October.

Eighteen of those women graduated in May as part of the first gender-integrated training cycle.

As part of the effort to integrate men and women in combat arms, Fort Benning has also had to develop new laundry policies. Before, laundry was open at any time of night. Now, it’s bracketed off at certain times for women.

Initially, Fort Benning officials wanted to place female living quarters on a separate floor, but the women didn’t care for that arrangement. Instead, the women are housed in one of four main sleeping bays.

Newly installed security cameras keep watch on the bay door and the stairs leading to the bay.

"There’s nothing they dislike more than to be separated," Army Col. Kelly Kendrick, the brigade commander, told The Associated Press. For Kendrick, the women want to "fit in and do the same as everybody else."
Colonel Kendrick refuses to be deterred by the facts. He clearly recognizes gender inequality and political will. He gets things done regardless of the known risks. Promote this officer immediately and select for Department of the Army staff level assignments.
Female recruits have had a higher injury rate than their male counterparts. For example, in the last class, hip stress fractures were an issue for six out of seven females injured in Charlie Company.

Slightly more than 36 percent of women have left training, which is twice the male dropout rate.

Four militants killed in CTD encounter in Faislabad
[DAWN] FAISALABAD: Four alleged Death Eaters belonging to a banned outfit were killed in an encounter with Punjab

According to a CTD spokesperson, the department had been working on a threat alert that banned Tehrik-e-Taliban

The front man said as the gunnies were told to surrender, they opened fire on the CTD personnel which was returned. The CTD men took cover and exchanged fire with the krazed killers, he added. Indian police ask interfaith couples: Is it love or terror?
[Ynet] India's Supreme Court will begin hearing a case on Monday that prosecutors say shows how Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
sympathisers are using "Love Jihad" marrying Hindu women and converting them to Islam to win recruits and spread their message.

Over the past 28 months, the National Investigation Agency has picked up dozens of interfaith couples in the southern state of Kerala to question them about their marriages. The women ‐ all Hindus who married Moslem men were asked "extremely personal" questions during the interrogations, two coppers from the agency said: "Did you sleep with your husband before getting married? Did he blackmail you before you converted to Islam?" They were looking for cases of "Love Jihad," a term publicized by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and other hardline Hindu groups soon after they helped propel Prime Minister Narendra Modi to power in 2014. It refers to what these groups say is an Islamist campaign to convert Hindu women through seduction and marriage.

Police investigations at the time found no evidence of any organized strategy, and the claim was widely ridiculed. But since then, the NIA began focusing on Kerala - a southern state along the Arabian Sea with strong economic links to the Middle East. It investigated 89 cases of "Love Jihad" and found nine to be alliances planned by people linked to the Islamic State, two NIA sources said, requesting anonymity because the investigation is ongoing.
Muslims do this to Coptic girls in Egypt, too, though without it being reported that they are connected to jihadi groups. And there has been the occasional report of the same behaviour in England...
The Jerusalem Post adds:
The NIA’s nine "Love Jihad" cases were based on complaints lodged by the parents of the Hindu girls and all were found to have links with IS, the NIA police sources said.

Across India, over 270 men and 20 women have been tossed in the calaboose
Don't shoot, coppers! I'm comin' out!
for working directly or indirectly with the IS, according to data at the federal Home Ministry. But Kerala was the only state where the NIA found a direct link between cases of "Love Jihad" and the IS, the NIA sources said.

The agency says it has uncovered attempts by IS sympathizers to possibly send the women in "Love Jihad" marriages off to marry or stay with fighters from the holy warrior group, the NIA sources said.

Europe
Muslims are ‘not completely human,’ Swedish politician claims, causing uproar
[RT] Martin Strid, of the anti-immigration Sweden Democrats (SD), made the comments while addressing party faithful gathered for the SD’s national conference. Other members have distanced themselves from Strid who now faces expulsion.

Addressing the crowd, Strid, according to various local sources said that there is a scale of humanity from 1 to 100, that Moslems can be placed upon and that not all are 100 percent human.

"On one end of the scale you are 100 percent human, a person, everything that’s part of that concept. At the other end, you are 100 percent Mohammedan," he said. He continued, saying that "all Moslems are somewhere on that scale" with ISIS hard boyz "close to being 100 percent Mohammedan."

Though he wasn’t finished: "If you are an ex-Moslem you have come quite far towards being fully human" while also stating that he wanted to "free Moslems from Islam, the goal is for them to join SD instead."

Strid’s inflammatory speech was recorded by Swedish broadcaster SVT and was shared online, in one instance by the group "Inte rasist, men" (Not racist, but) whose mission is to "showcase the inexhaustible source of humor and horror that the Sweden Democrats stand for."

SD members distanced themselves from Strid’s comments, with party secretary Richard Jomshof, branding them "racist" and that he expected Strid to be expelled from the SD. Party leader, Jimmie Åkesson, echoed these sentiments, saying in an interview with SVT that Strid’s comments "may be the worst I have ever heard in such a context" and that it is "very close to racism."

For his part, Strid apologised for his remarks. "It was very unfortunate and I expressed myself very clumsily," the Local reports him as saying in an interview with news agency TT, he further said that he was aware his speech could be interpreted as saying Moslems are not 100 percent human.

"I have realised [this] and it’s very unfortunate. I know a lot of Moslems and am good friends with a lot. People are people, of course," he said.
The Local describes Mr. Strid as a local politician from the town of Borlänge.

India-Pakistan
Protests out of control
[DAWN] MISHANDLED and underestimated by the federal government from the outset, the three-week-old protest on the outskirts of Islamabad went kaboom! yesterday into a dangerous and destabilising national crisis.

Quite simply, the PML-N has handled every aspect of the protest ‐ from its inception through the journey from Lahore to Islamabad to its disruptive tactics at the protest site ‐ disastrously.

Whether legitimately concerned about potential casualties among the protesters or wrongly focused on the electoral fallout among the PML-N’s right-wing support, the government has failed to live up to its basic responsibility to protect the life and property of the citizenry.

There is no reasonable set of circumstances in which a fledgling political party, no matter how aggrieved or agitated, could be allowed to not just hold the federal capital and the fourth most populous city of the country hostage, but also trigger protests across the country.

Yesterday’s shocking events demand an urgent rethink of state policy towards such protests.

Certainly, the first step for the state must be to restore order in the country.

The federal and provincial governments and the security and intelligence apparatuses must pool together their resources to firstly prevent the countrywide protests from escalating overnight and secondly to put a definitive, as-peaceful-as-possible end to the original protest outside Islamabad.

Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has stayed in the background until now on the issue of the protests, but the office he holds is the right constitutional platform from which national action is to be coordinated, across the provinces and up and down the tiers of government.

Perhaps Mr Abbasi believes that his true job description is to demonstrate loyalty to his party boss, Nawaz Sharif
... served two non-consecutive terms as prime minister, heads the Pakistain Moslem League (Nawaz). Noted for his spectacular corruption, the 1998 Pak nuclear test, border war with India, and for being tossed by General Musharraf, then by the courts...
, but the security crisis has grown to proportions that demands initiative and leadership suited to the office of the prime minister.

Whether the National Security Committee is to be urgently convened or the chief ministers are to be gathered in Islamabad to chalk out a plan to put a firm but peaceful end to the protests, Mr Abbasi needs to demonstrate leadership in a country where there appears to be a near vacuum at the top of the decision-making tree.

Of concern, however, is a perception that the civil and military arms of the state are not coordinating with each other in their responses to the protesters. A tweet by DG ISPR Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor oddly equated the government with the protesters and called on "both sides" to find a non-violent solution to the protests.

Later, the federal government issued a notification calling for military assistance in quelling the violence in Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

Whatever the wider disagreements and conflict between the two sides, the PML-N government and the military leadership must set those aside to deal with the protests via a unified voice and strategy.

Hafiz Saeed’s release
[DAWN] THE case of Hafiz Saeed
...founder of Lashkar-e-Taiba and its false-mustache offshoot Jamaat-ud-Dawa. The United Nations declared the JuD a terrorist organization in 2008 and Hafiz Saeed a terrorist as its leader. Hafiz, JuD and LeT are wholly-owned subsidiaries of the Pak intel apparatus, so that amounted to squat...
continues to baffle and challenge in more ways than one.

The US has just asked Pakistain to rearrest the Jamaat-ud-Dawa
...the front organization of Lashkar-e-Taiba...
chief whose detention at home came to an end on Friday after a court refused to extend the period of his confinement. The US has asked the Pak government to charge him for "his crimes", though the harshest response to his release has, unsurprisingly, come from India.

Hafiz Saeed, in his turn, is seemingly mindful of the value of putting greater pressure on the PML-N government which, to put it mildly, is faced with a quandary of its own.

Soon after his release, the Dawa chief touched upon his favourite, and a most sensitive, topic when he told a Friday congregation in Lahore that former prime minister Nawaz Sharif
... served two non-consecutive terms as prime minister, heads the Pakistain Moslem League (Nawaz). Noted for his spectacular corruption, the 1998 Pak nuclear test, border war with India, and for being tossed by General Musharraf, then by the courts...
was forced to step down because he had betrayed the Kashmiri cause. The latter is the original ‐ and by no means unpopular ‐ slogan of Hafiz Saeed and his now banned Lashkar-e-Taiba
...the Army of the Pure, an Ahl-e-Hadith terror organization founded by Hafiz Saeed. LeT masquerades behind the Jamaat-ud-Dawa facade within Pakistain and periodically blows things up and kills people in India. Despite the fact that it is banned, always an interesting concept in Pakistain, the organization remains an blatant tool and perhaps an arm of the ISI...
It shows just how knotty the issue, which transcends national and ideological boundaries, is. Deft handling is required by the authorities here, that must also investigate the serious allegations which led to his being designated a "terrorist individual" by the UN.

Violence can never be condoned and those resorting to it must be held accountable. But away from the calls for justice, the problem requires engagement with various parties from the US to India to outfits and institutions within this country. Not that anyone in Pakistain has ever been fully equipped to deal with all these elements at once but the government was perhaps better placed to address the question sometime ago.

A government which has recently lost its prime minister and is being run by his replacement who has one eye on the next election and the other on the court proceedings against his leader can hardly be expected to cope well with the calls for and warnings against a trial of Hafiz Saeed.

Which brings us to the salient point about the futility of repeating the exercise over and over again: Hafiz Saeed is put under house arrest and set free after a while. He is seen by the outside world, which demands his arrest, as having been ’captured’. Is this impression all that is supposed to be achieved? Someone must think so.

Otherwise, the reruns of the arrest-and-release sequence make little sense.

ISIS hideouts in Diyala destroyed in airstrikes
Diyala (IraqiNews.com) An Islamic State hideout was destroyed in an airstrike on a village in al-Muqdadiyah city, Diyala, an army commander said.

“The Iraqi army targeted an IS hideaway at Bablan village in al-Muqdadiyah city, some 35 km northeast of Baqubah,” Commander of the Tigris Operations Lieutenant General Mazher al-Azzawi told AlSumaria News on Sunday.

“A security force, afterwards, rushed to the scene and destroyed the hideout completely,” he said, adding that the air raid was launched upon accurate intelligence information.

“Our strategy to eliminate IS remnants in Iraq has achieved significant results over the past months,” he concluded.

The Iraqi army announced on Thursday the launch of an offensive to clear the desert bordering Syria of IS militants.
