North Korea launches new ballistic missile, US military confirm
North Korea has fired another ballistic missile, the US military has now confirmed.

The missile was launched eastward from Pyongsong in North Korea's South Pyongan Province during the middle of the night local time, according to a statement issued by the South Korean Military's joint chiefs of staff today.

The news was confirmed by a US Government source.

South Korean and American officials are currently working together to determine the missile's trajectory and Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has ordered an emergency cabinet meeting.

Leading Democrat Suddenly Announces Retirement
[JammieWearingFools] Considering this guy is only 63 and the shelf life of corrupt Democrats is well into their 80s (hello John Conyers!), there must be something really bad coming for this clown.

Rep. Luis Gutierrez, D-Ill., a longtime advocate for comprehensive immigration reform and critic of the Trump administration, is retiring from Congress, Fox News confirms.

Gutierrez held an event in Chicago on Monday alongside Mayor Rahm Emanuel and is slated to hold a news conference in Chicago on Tuesday morning.

The 63-year-old congressman has served his Chicago district since 1993 and is a senior member of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus. A Puerto Rican, he has been a lead proponent in recent weeks of providing federal aid to storm-ravaged Puerto Rico. He also has been arrested this year outside Trump Tower in New York protesting the president’s strict immigration enforcement policy.

But Gutierrez also was among the harshest critics of former President Barack Obama, whom he called the "deporter in chief" for ordering immigration agencies to deport hundreds of thousands of undocumented immigrants. He strongly disagreed with Obama’s ‐ and his then-chief of staff Emanuel’s decision ‐ to use the early years of his presidency to push for health-care reform instead of an immigration overhaul.

Before the Thanksgiving recess, Gutierrez told The Washington Post that he was planning to file the roughly 800 signatures he needed to collect in order to run for re-election.

If it’s not a sexual assault, it’s likely something more along Democrat lines, like embezzlement. Let’s face it, he’s in a safe seat and just recently said he was planning to file for re-election.

The other shoe waiting to drop must be a doozy.

Mysterious NORK Ghost Ship's Full of Skeletons Wash Up in Japan
[Newsweek] Ships believed to have come from North Korea and filled with dead bodies and skeletons have been washing up on the west coast of Japan, as desperate fishermen are forced further and further out to sea in search of a catch.

Japanese authorities said Monday they uncovered the skeletons of eight individuals from the hull of one wooden boat that washed ashore on Miyazawa beach in the northwest of Japan's main island of Honshu.

According to CNN the unidentified "ghost ship" was spotted by the Akita Coast Guard drifting offshore Friday but it wasn’t until it came into land that the grisly discovery was made.

It is not entirely clear the boat came from North Korea but the discovery of the wooden vessel fits a pattern of debris and other boats being washed up from the waters of the hermit nation on the Japanese coast, officials said.

Hits just keep on coming: Crippled US destroyer damaged by transport ship
The USS Fitzgerald, a Navy destroyer that was damaged in June after a deadly collision with a cargo ship off the coast of Japan, suffered two punctures to its hull on Sunday while being loaded onto a transport ship destined for the US, according to the service.

Already crippled as a result of the June 17 collision that killed seven US sailors, the Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer was headed to Mississippi for repairs but was forced to return to its home port in Yokosuka, Japan, when it sustained additional damage in an incident involving a heavy lift transport vessel called the Transshelf.

"Fitzgerald returned to repair two punctures in her hull caused by the heavy lift vessel's steel support structure during on load at anchorage," the US Navy 7th Fleet said in a statement.

Former Intel IG: 'Marginalized, Threatened' for Reporting Concerns About Clinton Emails (Video)
[Tucker Carlson at FOX] An Obama-appointed inspector general said he was marginalized and threatened when he raised alarm about former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's private email server.

Charles McCullough, who oversaw the intelligence community, said he contacted then-Director of National Intelligence James Clapper about the issue.

McCullough said he was later told not to report his concerns to Clapper, and received "personal blowback... to my family [and] my office."

"Emails beyond Top Secret passed through the unsecured server," he said.

McCullough later told Catherine Herridge that he found out he would be one of the first firings of Hillary Clinton's prospective administration.

Herridge said she didn't not receive an immediate response to McCullough's report from Clinton campaign officials.

MI5 files reveal the mysterious case of John Profumo and the glamorous Nazi spy
[Telegraph] John Profumo, the Tory minister forced out following a notorious 1960s sex scandal, was for years in correspondence with a glamorous German spy, sending her endearing notes on Commons notepaper, according to newly declassified MI5 records.

The politician met the model Gisela Winegard at Oxford in the 1930s before she went on to work for German intelligence in wartime Paris, and kept in touch until at least the 1950s.

Her file released at the National Archives in Kew also includes claims made by her husband that the couple had separated because he found compromising letters to her from Mr Profumo.

At the height of the Profumo Affair in 1963, MI6 sent a letter and files to MI5 investigations head Arthur Martin about Profumo’s contacts with Winegard, maiden name Klein, and outlining her exploits.

The MI6 officer, Cyril Mackay, wrote: "Although it is not particularly relevant to the current notorious case, Geoffrey thought you might like to have for your files the attached copy of a report from our representative [redacted], dated 2nd October 1950, which makes mention of an association between Gisela Klein and Profumo which began ca 1933 and had apparently not ceased at the time of this report."

Africa Subsaharan
The Niger Ambush - The Toxic Mix of AFRICOM and Human Terrain Operations
BLUF:
[Strategic Culture Foundation] What the Pentagon pulled out of its hat was the Islamic State in the Sahel, conveniently abbreviated as "ISIS." With the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, the original ISIS, on the run in the Middle East, the Pentagon saw an opportunity to give the terrorist group a rebirth in West Africa, while also blaming it for the deaths of the US servicemen. But the actual reason for the obfuscation from the Oval Office was to avoid having one of the Pentagon’s most fraudulent and discredited programs making it back on to the front pages of the newspapers.

There is every indication that what transpired near the village of Tongo Tongo in Niger was the result of a decision by the Trump administration to bolster the costly and dubious Pentagon program called the Human Terrain System (HTS).

Using anthropologists, sociologists, and linguists possessing higher degrees, the Pentagon created HTS to conduct ethnographic surveys of conflict zones in order to take advantage of inter-tribal conflicts to achieve quick military dominance over a targeted region. HTS has been charged with exacerbating tensions between various indigenous groups and tribes to create intelligence "opportunities" for the US military. In 2012, the Pentagon announced that HTS would be extended from South Asia, Chicago, Southern California and the Middle East to Latin America and Africa.

#1  HTS has been charged with exacerbating tensions between various indigenous groups and tribes to create intelligence "opportunities" for the US military.

The "opportunity" to gather intelligence (by constantly stirring shi* up) is simply an intermediate objective. The long-term goal is political regime change. But of course the ownership of regime change resides not with the Army, but elsewhere.

Evil Russian hackers and political election interlopers, they're everywhere I tell you.

#2  anthropologists, sociologists, and linguists possessing higher degrees

As a member, I would say this community fails in good science by maintaining the false hope of 'What they are is what they do.' Not so from this soapbox. The many incursions into Eastern and Western Asia and now Africa continue to demonstrate cultures of differentiated behavior and decision making processes. Local normality is not Global rationality, no matter how much we should want to make it so. Tough to blame on the Oval Office when these facts have been ignored for hundreds of years.

MSNBC's Joy Reid: 'White Rural Americans Are a ‘Core Threat to Our Democracy'
[Free Beacon] MSNBC host Joy Reid on Saturday said rural Americans pose a "core threat to our democracy" because 70 percent of the population is expected to live in the 15 largest states in 2040.

Her comment came in response to a column in the Wall Street Journal in which author Gerald Seib discussed American government and various global threats confronting democracy. Seib used projected population change to argue that many urban Americans will be underrepresented in the Senate in the coming decades.

"Because of the way the Electoral College works, two of the past three presidents first won office while losing the popular vote. And David Birdsell, dean of the school of public and international affairs at Baruch College, notes that by 2040, about 70% of Americans are expected to live in the 15 largest states. They will have only 30 senators representing them, while the remaining 30% of Americans will have 70 senators representing them," Seib wrote.

Reid quoted MSNBC producer Kyle Griffin's tweet, which cited the figures from the Wall Street Journal, and said the rural minority's level of representation constitutes are a "core threat to our democracy." She said rural Americans will continue to "have disproportionate power over the urban majority."

Colin Kaepernick be damned and an enthusiastic hat tip to Ms. Reid. She clearly and unmistakenly validates the existence of the 'Culture War.'

There wouldn't be a 'United States' and therefore no need to fight a civil war where over 250,000 mostly white farm boys from the north would never have to 'give their full measure of devotion' to put the 13th Amendment into the document. Rural Americans are the reason you have a form of classical democracy, not to be confused the Ms. Reid's "Peoples Democratic Republic of" soviet authoritarian style government.

#8  Reid appears to be missing a few of the facts:

Thomas Jefferson’s agrarian observations are scattered throughout his letters and other documents. “Those who labour in the earth are the chosen people of God, if ever he had a chosen people, whose breasts he has made his peculiar deposit for substantial and genuine virtue. . . .” he declaims in Query XIX of Notes on the State of Virginia (1781–82). “Corruption of morals in the mass of cultivators is a phenomenon of which no age nor nation has furnished an example.” Jefferson and the other Anti-Federalists believed that yeoman farming nurtured a spirit of self- reliance that made economic—and therefore genuine political—independence possible. In that fact lay farming’s principle value.

[Al Jazeera] At least 80 people have been killed in just over 24 hours in suspected Russian and Syrian government shelling in the eastern and southern parts of Syria.

The majority of those killed were civilians.

In the eastern province of Deir Az Zor, suspected Russian warplanes hit al-Shafah village on the eastern bank of the Euphrates River on Sunday, killing about 51 people.

Four others were killed in an attack on the village of al-Darnaj, also on Sunday, raising the corpse count in the province to 55.

Suleimani delivers video taped speech to forces in Albukamal
[ALMASDARNEWS] The prominent commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ al-Quds Force, Major General Qassem Suleimani
, was filmed giving a speech to the forces participating in the offensive to liberate Albukamal from the so-called Islamic State

(ISIS).

General Suleimani began the speech by ordering the forces in Albukamal to not loot any of the homes or businesses.

The Iranian general then ordered the forces to refrain from entering any home without permission from the homeowner.

General Suleimani would then conclude his speech by asking his fighters to continue their fight against Soddy Arabia

‘Write In’ Against Conservative Roy Moore Attended Liberal Dem Doug Jones Fundraiser
[BREITBART] "Never-Trump" Alabama Senate "write-in" candidate Lee Busby attended a fundraiser for liberal Democrat candidate Doug Jones.

Busby, a retired Marine colonel and former aide to White House Chief of Staff John Kelly, announced on Monday that he will launch a last-minute write-in campaign against Republican nominee Alabama Judge Roy Moore and Democrat Doug Jones.

Busby admitted that he attended a fundraiser for Doug Jones and even voted for Ohio governor and infamous public eater John Kasich
...political has-been current Republican governor of Ohio...
in 2016 Republican presidential primary.

Lee Busby argued that the allegations of sexual misconduct against Roy Moore created an opening for an establishment, centrist candidate to launch a third-party run for the December 12 Alabama Senate race.

Busby said, "I think you can flip this thing. If this were a military operation, the left flank and the right flank are heavily guarded. I think that gives you an opportunity to run straight up the middle."

Attackers smash windows in Warsaw's Muslim center
[Al Ahram] Warsaw police were searching on Monday for attackers who smashed windows in the city's Moslem cultural center.

The police were notified early Monday that some dozen windows were smashed during the night in the center that was opened in 2015 and includes a mosque, a meeting center, a shop and a restaurant. No one was hurt.

Warsaw police front man Mariusz Mrozek said CCTV was being reviewed to help identify the attackers and has appealed for people who might have any information about the attack to come forward. Moslem community leaders were to hold a news conference later in the day.

Warsaw's Moslem community has a few thousand members.
Breitbart adds:
Security guards at the building became aware of a disturbance around 1 am Monday morning and called police to the scene five hours later, reports wPolityce. By that time those responsible for the damage ‐ reported to be two individuals throwing stones ‐ had already left the scene.
The management of the center might want to review their guard-hiring protocols...

Iran-backed militia in Syria says it’s ‘fully prepared’ to battle Israel
[IsraelTimes] With its 10,000 men reportedly controlled by Quds force head Qassem Soleimani, recently formed 'Golan Liberation Brigade' says it would fight Jewish state if Damascus asks.
Talk is cheap.
The head of a large Iranian-backed Iraqi militia that has been fighting in Syria said recently his group was "fully prepared" to fight Israel if Damascus asked it to. Sheikh Akram al-Ka’abi, the leader of Iraq’s Hezbollah al-Nujaba,
...Harakat Hezbollah al-Nujaba in full, Hezbollah meaning “the Party of God” and al-Nujaba meaning “the Virtuous“. In Iraq they fight with the paramilitary Shiite Popular Mobilization Forces ...
told the Lebanese news network Al Mayadeen Friday night his group would participate in a Damascus-led attack on Israel’s Golan Heights.

"We are fully prepared to participate in any war with the Syrian Arab Army to liberate the Golan if the Syrian state agrees or requests so," Ka’abi said.

Long Live Egypt fund allocates EGP 185 mln for projects in North Sinai town after Al-Rawdah mosque massacre
According to an Egyptian friend of mine, the residents of the Egyptian Sinai are Bedouins, not proper Egyptians at all, and the area except for the tourist area on the Red Sea is dreadfully neglected. It looks like they’ve been reprioritized by the government.
[AlAhram] The North Sinai town of Bir al-Abd, which was the scene of a terrorist massacre on Friday, is to receive EGP 185 million in funding for local services and development projects from the Long Live Egypt Fund, Mohammed El-Ashmawy, the executive director of the fund announced on Sunday.

Speaking on Amr Adib's Every Day television show on ONTV, El-Ashmawy said the fund, which was established by President Abde-Fattah El-Sisi in 2014 to carry out national projects, aims to provide the town with EGP 400 million in total and will raise the remaining EGP 215 million.

The move is part of the official response to the killing of at least 305 people and the wounding of 128 others during Friday prayers at al-Rawdah Mosque.

The terrorist attack, conducted by up to 30 men in pick-up trucks, was the deadliest such incident in recent Egyptian history.

El-Ashmawy's comments follow the announcement on Sunday that the cabinet has authorized emergency compensation for those directly effected by the attack.

Cabinet front man Ashraf Sultan told the DMC Evening TV show that the governor of North Sinai will provide EGP 200,000 for each person killed and EGP 50,000 for each person injured, pending a decision from El-Sisi on final compensation levels.

Both Sultan and El-Ashmawy revealed plans for developing public services in the local area.

El-Ashmawy outlined a plan involving several elements: raising the efficiency of hospitals; upgrading nine schools; assisting the residents in producing handmade crafts; growing olives and dates; and establishing a market to sell local products.

He said that, in addition to raising the needed EGP 215 million, it will be necessary to source medical equipment and ambulances needed by local health services.

Sultan said the health, education, water and sanitation services would all be improved in the Bir al-Abd area.

Sultan revealed a plan to supply food to those affected for the next three months, along with psychological rehabilitation services for children and women who lost their providers, whether it be a father, son or husband. No women died in the attack, but at least 27 childeren were killed.

Ukraine's attack plans were posted on Ukraine's defense website

The ill-advised attack by Ukrainian forces at Frunze November 23rd is receiving sharp criticism, including from some Ukrainian officials, according to Ukrainian and Russian language news reports.

The nocturnal attack cost the Ukrainian 58th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade three men killed in action, four wounded and one captured.

According to information provided by official rebel accounts at the website of the Donetsk ministry of defense, the November 23rd attack and one that took place just prior, north of Gorlovka were part of military plans revealed accidentally on a Ukrainian ministry of defense website.

According to the defense spokesman for the Donetsk breakaway republic, details of ambitious plans by the Ukrainian staff in Kiev were displayed after a meeting in Kiev between parts of the MoD, including defense chief General Viktor Muzenko and the affected maneuver brigade commanders. The meeting took place the week before.

Donetsk rebel spokesman Lt. Colonel Eduard Basurin said in a November 26th press release that plans for renewed offensive action by the Ukrainians centered around the Svetodarsk arc region just north of Debaltsevo in eastern Donetsk/far western Lugansk. Part of the presentation included a number of printed cards to describe the Ukrainians plans, according to Col. Basurin. That data was promptly displayed on a Ukrainian ministry of defense page, which pro Ukrainian activists noticed and announced on social media.

Basurin said that by the time the error was discovered, the Ukrainian probe into Frunze was tipped off. The day before, the Ukrainian advance into Gladosovo and Travnevoye, which is west of the Svetodarsk arc, took elements of the Ukrainian 54th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade into an area Basurin claimed gave Ukrainian forces "no tactical advantage", due to it being surrounded by heights. The volunteer 24th "Aydar" Battalion also took part in the capturing of the villages.

The Svetodarsk region, which is primarily a road between Artemovsk surrounded by lakes, north of the Svetodarsk arc -- and a main logistics hub for the Ukrainians in the region -- and Debaltsevo, has been a severe issue between the fighting forces since the fall of Debaltsevo in February, 2015. The month long battle was extremely bloody for both sides, including the rebels who captured the town.

Since early 2015, Ukrainians have attempted to mount two major attacks meant to break the line of dug-in rebel troops in front of Logvinovo. Logvinovo is the only settlement of any size on the highway between Artemovsk and Debaltsevo. The attacks were costly for the Ukrainians. The rebels have yet to reveal the extent of their losses.

Col. Basurin pointed out in another news release that the failure of the Frunze attack could be laid solely at General Muzenko's feet.

Now, according to a separate news account in Vesti-ukr.com, the attack on Frunze is being characterized as "unauthorized", which could be true, since Col. Basurin hastened to add in another account that responsibility for the failed attack was not on the newly appointed Ukrainian commander in the region, Lt. General Mykhailo Zabrodsky.

According to the vesti-ukr.com account, adviser to Ukrainian president Piotr Poroshenko, Yury Biryukov said the attack was undertaken by unidentified officers within the staff of the 58th Motorized Rifle Brigade, who were "seeking glory."

Lugansk

Rebels and Ukrainian media said that both sides exchanged artillery fire in Lugansk.

Ukrainian media said that the rebels fired 82mm mortar fire into Krymskoye on Sunday.

Rebels said that Ukrainian forces fired 82mm and 120mm mortar fire on towns south and east of the Svetodarsk region, including at Kalinovka, Kalinovo, Logvinovo and Slavyanoserbsk.

Donetsk

On Monday, Ukrainian media reported exchanges of gunfire in southern Donetsk, at Vodnovo and Gnutovo. Near Donetsk city, rebels fired on Ukrainian positions at Avdievka.

On Sunday, according to a news report in gorlovka-pravda.dn.ua, a residential building in Zaitsevo was destroyed by fire after it was hit by Ukrainian artillery fire.

Also on Sunday, the Donetsk ministry of defense website said that two more buildings in Dokuchaevsk were damaged by Ukrainian direct fire from infantry fighting vehicles and heavy machine guns.

Hamas rejects disarmament talk ahead of reconciliation deadline
[Al Ahram] Paleostinian movement Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth", again refused to disarm on Monday ahead of a key reconciliation deadline, instead threatening to carry out attacks against Israel in the West Bank.

By Friday, the Islamists are due to hand over control of the Gazoo Strip to the internationally recognised Paleostinian government, based in the Israeli-occupied West Bank.

But the future of their armed wing, the Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades, remains unclear.

"These weapons will be moved to the West Bank to fight the (Israeli) occupation. It is our right to resist the occupation until it ends."
"The weapons of the resistance are a red line that is non-debatable," Khalil al-Hayya, deputy head of Hamas in Gazoo, told a presser, referring to the Qassam Brigades.

"These weapons will be moved to the West Bank to fight the (Israeli) occupation. It is our right to resist the occupation until it ends."

The United States and Israel have said they will reject any reconciliation agreement leading to a unity government including Hamas unless it disarms.
According to The Times of Israel, the actual phrasing is “disarms, renounces terrorism and recognizes Israel.”
Paleostinian president the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas
... a graduate of the prestigious unaccredited Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow with a doctorate in Holocaust Denial...
has also said there will only be one security force in the Paleostinian territories.

The reconciliation agreement signed on October 12 in Cairo does not specify a future for the Qassam Brigades.

Also on Monday a delegation from Egyptian intelligence arrived in Gazoo, as they seek to push forward with the agreement they brokered.

India-Pakistan
An overview of the crisis that forced the government to capitulate
[DAWN] As daily life in Islamabad limps back to normality after being disrupted for 20 days by protesters, Dawn.com looks back on the chain of events that ended with the government surrendering unequivocally to the protesters' demands.

In broad strokes
The protesters, who belonged to religious parties like the Tehrik Labbaik Ya Rasool Allah (TLY), the Tehrik-e-Khatm-e-Nabuwwat, and the Sunni Tehrik
...formed in Karachi in 1992 under by Muhammad Saleem Qadri. It quickly fell to trading fisticuffs and assassinations with the MQM and the Sipah-e-Sahaba, with at least a half dozen of its major leaders rubbed out. Sunni Tehreek arose to become the primary opposition to the Deobandi Binori Mosque, headed by Nizamuddin Shamzai, who was eventually bumped off by person or persons unknown. ST's current leadership has heavily criticized the Deobandi Jihadi leaders, accusing them of being sponsored by Indian Intelligence agencies as well as involvement in terrorist activities...
Pakistain (ST), had occupied the Faizabad Interchange, which connects Rawalpindi and Islamabad through the Islamabad Expressway and Murree Road, both of which are the busiest roads in the twin cities.

The agitators believed that during the passage of Elections Act 2017, the Khatm-e-Nabuwwat oath was deliberately modified as part of a larger conspiracy.

The amendment to the oath was deemed a 'holy manal error' by the government and was subsequently rectified through an Act of Parliament.

Nonetheless, the protesters had been insistent on the resignation of Zahid Hamid, the erstwhile law minister, for his alleged role in the controversy. There is no proof yet that indicates Hamid was responsible for the amendment. A committee headed by Raja Zafarul Haq had probed the issue and released a report on the matter which has not yet been made public.

The Islamabad High Court, the Supreme Court and the heads of various religious parties had repeatedly called on the protesters to disband, calling the protest unlawful as a ban had been imposed on public gatherings in the city and urging the agitators to use the Democracy and Speech Corner at Islamabad's Parade Ground, which has been reserved for such gatherings.

The IHC finally ordered the district administration to evict the protesters from the Faizabad Interchange using "any means necessary".

The government initiated several rounds of negotiations with the protesters after the order was issued, but failed each time, and the IHC subsequently warned Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal of being charged with contempt of court for not complying with the court's orders.

The IHC on Friday observed that the protest's leaders had, prima facie, committed an 'act of terror' by continuing their protest despite the court's orders and criticised the government for failing to take meaningful action against them.

A final deadline given to protesters by the government ‐ 7am on Saturday, Nov 25 ‐ also lapsed without any let-up in the sit-in.

As the government launched an operation to disperse the protesters, at least six people were killed and scores others injured. After a botched operation, the government decided to call in the army for help.

When the army refused, the government turned towards negotiations with the protesters once more and then accepted a number of their demands in return for ending the protest.

Warren: Trump Will Not Silence Me by Using a ‘Racial Slur’ Like ‘Pocahontas’
[FREEBEACON] Sen. Elizabeth Fauxchahontas Warren
...Dem Senatrix from Massachussetts, who traces her noble lineage all the way back to Big Chief Spouting Bull. It has been alleged that she speaks with forked tongue but she denies that...
(D., Mass.) told MSNBC's Ali Velshi on Monday that President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
will not silence her by using a "racial slur" like "Pocahontas."

Trump hosted an event at the White House to honor Navajo code talkers, where he referenced Pocahontas, a nickname he has used in the past to refer to Warren.

Velshi played a clip of Trump's comments and then asked if she would like to respond.

"I just want to thank you because you are very, very special people. You were here long before any of us were here," Trump said. "Although, we have a representative in Congress who they say was here a long time ago; they call her Pocahontas."

"This was supposed to be an event to honor heroes," Warren said in response. "People who put it all on the line for our country, and people who, because of their incredible work, saved the lives of countless Americans and our allies."
Given that the honourable senator is not actually of Indian descent, despite her claims...

#1  Her response is telling.

Dem Warren is embarrassed to be called "Pocahontas". Because she lied about her heritage and wants the lie buried.

If she were of American Indian heritage, she would be honored to be called "Pocahontas". a Princess of the most high Chief of a regional Virginia tribes. Who then married a white man and changed her religion and took the name Rebecca, Biblical Mother of two Nations.

At the time of Rebecca's death as only 20 to 21 years old, she was known around the world after a trip to England.

#2  They would have called it a racial slur, no matter what he said. They have entirely too much invested in the idea that Republicans and conservatives in general, and President Trump in particular, are rayciss to pay any attention to what anyone on that side of the aisle actually says, does, and thinks.

#13  Elizabeth Warren Ancestor Rounded Up Cherokees For Trail of Tears

"For over a quarter of a century, Elizabeth Warren has described herself as a Native American. When recently asked to provide evidence of her ancestry, she pointed to an unsubstantiated claim on an 1894 Oklahoma Territory marriage license application by her great-great grand uncle William J. Crawford that his mother, O.C. Sarah Smith Crawford, Ms. Warren’s great-great-great grandmother, was a Cherokee.

After researching her story, it is obvious that her “family lore” is just fiction.

As I pointed out in my article here on Sunday, no evidence supports this claim. O.C. Sarah Smith Crawford had no Cherokee heritage, was listed as “white” in the Census of 1860, and was most likely half Swedish and half English, Scottish, or German, or some combination thereof. (Note, the actual 1894 marriage license makes no claim of Cherokee ancestry.)

But the most stunning discovery about the life of O.C. Sarah Smith Crawford is that her husband, Ms. Warren’s great-great-great grandfather, was apparently a member of the Tennessee Militia who rounded up Cherokees from their family homes in the Southeastern United States and herded them into government-built stockades in what was then called Ross’s Landing (now Chattanooga), Tennessee–the point of origin for the horrific Trail of Tears, which began in January, 1837.

This new information about Ms. Warren’s true heritage came as a direct result of a lead provided to me by William Jacobson over at Legal Insurrection, who in turn had received the information from one of his readers. Jacobson, who has questioned Warren’s explanation for her law faculty listing, calls this discovery “the ultimate and cruelest irony” of the Warren Cherokee saga.

According to Rooters, Hariri told French broadcaster CNews that he was ready to stay on as prime minister if Hezbollah accepted to stick by the state policy of staying out of regional conflicts.

The premier, however, said he would resign if Hezbollah did not keep to that, although consultations so far had been positive.

"I think in the interest of Leb, Hezbollah is carrying out a positive dialogue. They know we have to remain neutral in the region," he added in the interview recorded on Monday.

Aoun’s talks on Monday took place after Hariri last Wednesday put off his resignation upon the president’s request to find a way out of the current crisis. Hariri had unexpectedly announced his resignation from Riyadh on Nov. 4, protesting that Iran and Hezbollah had taken hold of Leb, and he feared for his life.

The talks concerned the concept of "self-distancing" and how to apply it. Most of those whom Aoun consulted supported activating the Lebanese administration and reaffirming the ministerial statement and the political settlement, which resulted in naming Aoun president and Hariri prime minister until the next parliamentary elections in May. Aoun did not address the issue of Hezbollah’s weapons.

Bahrain Shia cleric under house arrest is ill

Sheikh Maytham al-Salman, another Shia holy man, told The News Agency that Dare Not be Named on Monday the 80-year-old Sheikh Isa "is in constant pain" and requires emergency surgery for a hernia.

Bahrain's government didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.

Sheikh Isa could be deported at any time after authorities stripped his citizenship last June over accusations that he fueled extremism and laundered money. His supporters deny the allegations.

Ahnish’s militiamen again threaten Tripoli’s water
[Libya Herald] Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
again faces major water shortages a month after the same armed gang cut supplies to the capital demanding the release of its leader Mabrouk Ahnish.

The pro-Qadaffy Ahnish, a member of the Magarha tribe from Brak al-Shatti, was captured last month in the Wirshefana area along with several Sudanese fighters. He was handed over to the Rada (Deterrence) forces of Abdul Rauf Kara which continue to hold him.

The Man-Made River (MMR) authority has protested Saturday’s attack by Ahnish’s followers on control rooms in the al-Hasawna-Al-Jafara sections of pipes. No details were given of what the gang had done.

Last month, water was cut to some parts of Tripoli for almost a fortnight after Ahnish’s supporters attacked an electricity control room in the Shwerif area halfway between Tripoli and Sebha. The MMR repaired that damage but an engineer admitted that the work had been done quickly for fear of poor security.

Today the MMR put out a statement insisting that the authorities and indeed, ordinary citizens had to do far more to protect the MMR network from interference, which it said was threatening national security.

Syrian Army storms southern Aleppo in new bid to reach east Idlib
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) launched a fresh assault inside the southern countryside of the Aleppo Governorate, today, targeting the al-Qaeda linked Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham’s defenses southwest of al-Rashidiyah.

Led by their Elite Republican Guard, the Syrian Arab Army stormed the large pocket controlled by HTS southwest of the Khanasser Highway in a new bid to reach the eastern countryside of the Idlib Governorate.

While no gains have been reported by thus far, the Syrian Arab Army appears to be positioning themselves for a much bigger push in the coming days.

Jihadist rebels in big trouble as Syrian Army approaches northeastern Hama strongholds
[ALMASDARNEWS] The jihadist rebels of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham and Jaish al-Izza are in serious trouble inside the northeastern countryside of Hama, as they find themselves nearly enveloped around their last strongholds in this rural area.

Backed by heavy Arclight airstrikes from the Russian Air Force, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) has steadily crept their way to the towns of Umm Miyal and al-Rahjan, which are two strongholds for the jihadist rebels in northeast Hama.

The Syrian Army was able to better their positions around Umm Miyal, today, after capturing the small town of Mustarihah.

As a result of this advance, the Syrian Arab Army is now situated just south of Umm Miyal, leaving the jihadist rebels in a very uncomfortable spot.

If HTS and Jaish al-Izza are unable to beat back the Syrian Armed Forces in the coming days, they will be forced to give up this last piece of northeastern Hama that is under their control.

Sudan general, nine soldiers killed in Darfur clashes
[PRESSTV] A Sudanese general and nine soldiers were killed in festivities in the war-damaged region of Darfur on Sunday after their vehicles were ambushed by Death Eaters, state news SUNA reported on Monday.

Conflict in Darfur erupted in 2003 when mainly non-Arab tribes took up arms against Sudan's Arab-led government and has led to intermittent festivities ever since, though the government announced a unilateral ceasefire last year.

Fresh festivities erupted on Sunday following a military effort by government forces in the southern Darfur region to collect weapons from Death Eaters, SUNA reported.

Defense Minister Ali Mohammed Salem said that prominent Darfur militia leader Musa Hilal had been incarcerated

KDF Destroys Six Shabaab Camps In Lamu’s Boni Forest
[RADIOSHABELLE] The Kenya Defence Forces have destroyed six Shabaab transit camps in the Boni Forest in Lamu County.

"They were camps formed by the holy warriors as they planned to conduct attacks in various parts of Lamu," said Boni Enclave Campaign director Joseph Kanyiri.

He confirmed that security officers also recovered weapons, including AK-47 rifles, grenade-making tools, food and medicine in the camps.

Speaking to the Nation on Monday, Mr Kanyiri said an undisclosed number of Shabaab bandidos gunnies were killed during the ambush and bombing of their hideouts.

Others escaped with bullet wounds, he added.

Mr Kanyiri urged hospitals in Lamu, Tana River, Garissa, Kilifi and Mombasa counties to report to the police anyone seeking treatment for bullet wounds.

He said the operation was successful as it eliminated al-Shabaab

bandidos gunnies who had set base inside the dense forest.

In September 2015, the national government launched the ’Linda Boni’ operation with the objective of flushing out the al-Shabaab elite group Jaish al-Ayman from Boni Forest.

The militia group was said to have been operating from the forest since 2012 in retaliation to the deployment of Kenyan troops to Somalia to conduct in the Linda Nchi Operation.

What forced govt to sign agreement with Faizabad protesters, asks Rabbani
[DAWN] Senate Chairman Raza Rabbani on Monday admonished Minister of State for Interior Affairs Talal Chaudhry and asked that "the house wants to know what forced the government to sign an agreement with the protesters" who had staged a sit-in at Faizabad.

After the weeks-long protest that virtually paralysed the capital, the government and protesters reached an agreement late Sunday night, in which the former conceded to the latter's demands.

Rabbani asked why Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal was not present in the Senate to explain the government's position on the agreement with the Faizabad sit-in protesters.

To this Chaudhry replied that Ahsan Iqbal was travelling and, therefore, could not be contacted.

Rabbani also expressed disappointment on Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi's visit to Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. . "The prime minister leaves for abroad on the very same day [the agreement is finalised]. Is the Riyadh summit more important than what has happened in the country?"

"The [real] issue is that your law minister was forced to resign," Rabbani maintained.

The Senate chairman said the parliament was not taken into confidence [before the agreement] because "it appears that the government did not find it important enough" to consult the parliament.

"You are taking the parliament, which can become your strength, for granted," Rabbani said, adding that "this House wants to know why there was a need to call the army?"

Somali Officials Visits Prison In Seychelles, Encourages Anti-Piracy Cooperation
[RADIOSHABELLE] Maritime security is important for all countries bordering the Indian Ocean, and these countries need to work together to combat piracy, the Somali Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation said Monday.

Yusuf-Garaad Omar made the statement after visiting President Danny Faure at State House, Victoria.

"We discussed the issue of maritime security and the cooperation between the two countries to make sure that the ocean is safe for both countries as well as for the international traders who are using the ocean," said Omar.

He told the press that "piracy is decreasing for many reasons one of which is due to the effort of the regional international forces and institutions working on it."

Somalia is looking to work closely with Seychelles, an archipelago in the western Indian ocean, to help with capacity building and the exchange of information and intelligence on maritime security."Somalia is also working on prosecuting pirates. The Somali government is also committing itself to making sure that we can control our people and coasts," said the minister.

Bangladesh upholds death sentence for 139 soldiers over massacre
[DAWN] A Bangladesh court upheld the death penalty
for 139 soldiers on Monday over their role in a "brutal and barbaric" mutiny in which dozens of top army officers were massacred.

In delivering his verdict Justice Md Abu Zafor Siddique described the 2009 slaughter of 74 people ‐ including 57 top brass ‐ as an unprecedented atrocity in Bangladesh's relatively short history.

"It was the most heinous, brutal and barbaric carnage of our history," he told the Dhaka courtroom of the two-day massacre in which victims were shot, hacked to death and burned alive by marauding troops.

The sentences will be appealed against in the Supreme Court, which by law has the final say in all capital punishment cases.

Five more die as Misratans nab Khoms man linked to seven-death family feud
[Libya Herald] Three Misratan security officials were among five dead when they stormed the Khoms’ home of the suspected killer of seven men in what has been described as a family feud.

The raid yesterday ended with the arrest of Noor Hadia Baba and fourteen of his supporters. Two others who had shot it out with the arriving Misratans were killed.

Baba, who has been linked the Islamist Lion of Islams, is accused of murdering seven members of a rival family last week after one of his own relatives was killed in a dispute over plot of land.

It is thought that Misratan security forces were executing a warrant for Baba’s arrest issued in the city, when they met violent resistance and had to besiege the building.

Less than two years ago Khoms was left without electricity when another family feud led to heavy exchanges of gunfire which knocked out the town’ power station.

Benghazi clampdown on crimes and violations after TV warning from Bukhamada
[Libya Herald] The security forces in Benghazi were ordered today to arrest anyone using firearms in the streets or for events such as weddings or other ceremonies.

It follows a statement broadcast on TV yesterday by Major-General Wanis Bukhamada, in his capacity as head of the new central operations room, that anyone breaking the law will be severely dealt with.

In his statement he ordered people who had taken over homes belonging to gunnies to leave immediately. So too must those who had taken over state or municipal property.

He also warned that anyone illegally arresting, detaining or kidnapping people while claiming to be part of the armed forces or the security services would be punished. As to the municipal guard, the agricultural police and other security agencies in Benghazi, they would be given full backing and they needed to get back to work.

Several times in his televised speech has said that criminals in the city would not be tolerated and would be punished. The city was going to improve, he said.

His call follows one earlier this month from Field Marshal Khalifa Hafter in which he called on all police in the east of the country to go back to work.

Yesterday, prior to the speech, the operations room launched a number of anti-drugs and anti-liquor raids in Benghazi, netting some 35 alleged dealers. Five were said to be Libyan, the rest from sub-Saharan Africa. Also targeted were unmarked vehicles, new construction sites to see if they had planning permission and abandoned buildings to see if they were being used for illicit activities.

Meanwhile today, Benghazi acting mayor Abdel Rahman Elabbar had a meeting with military and municipal figures to plan for a major cleanup of the city.

Iran Naval Forces Repel Pirate Attack On Merchant Vessel In Gulf Of Aden
[RADIOSHABELLE] Iranian naval forces have repelled pirates who were attacking one of the country’s merchant vessels in the Gulf of Aden.

Iran’s 48th naval fleet, comprised of Alvand destroyer and Lavan logistic warship, rescued the Iranian ship from an attack by pirates in the south of Ras Sharbitat region in Oman on Sunday morning.

Gulf of Aden pirates attacked the Iranian merchant ship, named Caspian Harmony, in a bid to hijack it, but they were forced to flee by Iranian naval forces.

Iran’s 48th naval fleet set off for the high season September 2 on a mission to maintain the Islamic Theocratic Republic’s power in international waters and safeguard maritime routes.

More aid flows into Yemen as coalition works on humanitarian plan

The measures were eased over the weekend, with a ship carrying 5,500 tons of flour having docked in Yemen’s Hodeidah port in the Red Sea, and UNICEF having sent a plane with vaccines to Sanaa airport after the coalition granted clearance for UN flights.

Regional UNICEF director Geert Cappelaere earlier said that the delivery of vaccines "cannot be a one-off" and that more supplies are needed.

But Mohammed al-Jabir, the Saudi ambassador to Yemen, confirmed that more aid was arriving as the allies work on a plan to boost the response to the humanitarian situation.

"More than three ships arrived to Hodeidah with different kinds of foods (on Saturday and Sunday), and also five flights to Sanaa airport from different UN organizations," he told Arab News.

"Saudi Arabia and the coalition are preparing for the humanitarian operations plan, which will be announced maybe over the next few days."

Iraq
Iraqi forces liberate all western desert areas, most important Daesh shelters
[ALMASDARNEWS] Only a small pocket of ISIS Death Eaters remains on the Iraqi border with Syria.

The Iraqi army has completely freed the territories located between the provinces of Anbar and Saladin in the Iraqi Jazira region from ISIS terrorist group as announced by the command of Hashd Shaabi, a state-sponsored militia integrated into the Armed Forces.

"Hashd Shaabi has completed the liberation of the desert area of Jazira, [...] which has been considered as one of the most important ISIS shelters," the statement said.

According to the statement, only a small ISIS pocket remained in the Iraqi region on the border with Syria, north of the city of Qaim.

During the liberation operation, "dozens of ISIS snuffies were eliminated" as well as weapons caches and terrorists’ hideouts were found.

The successful operation comes several days after the Iraqi Armed Forces launched an operation to clean up the desert territories on border with Syria from ISIS, which was launched after town of Rawa, the last ISIS stronghold in Iraq, had been freed with the coalition’s assistance.

The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) arrested Musa Hilal, a former aide to President Omar al-Bashir
Head of the National Congress Party. He came to power in 1989 when he, as a brigadier in the Sudanese army, led a group of officers in a bloodless military coup that ousted the government of Prime Minister Sadiq al-Mahdi and eventually appointed himself president-for-life. He has fallen out with his Islamic mentor, Hasan al-Turabi, tried to impose shariah on the Christian and animist south, resulting in its secessesion, and attempted to Arabize Darfur by unleashing the barbaric Janjaweed on it. Sudan's potential prosperity has been pissed away in warfare that has left as many as 400,000 people dead and 2.5 million displaced. Omar has been indicted for genocide by the International Criminal Court but nothing is expected to come of it.
, near his hometown of Mustariaha in the state of North Darfur, SUNA reported State Minister of Defence Lieutenant General Ali Mohammed Salem as saying.

The state minister said Hilal's son Habeeb was also detained, but did not specify when exactly the arrests took place.

"They were arrested after festivities in the area but the security situation there is now stable," Mohammed Salem said in a statement to parliament.

"They will soon be brought to Khartoum."

On Sunday, fierce fighting erupted between fighters loyal to Hilal and an RSF unit near Mustariaha, in which the RSF said they lost 10 members including a commander.

Mustariaha is the hometown and bastion of Hilal, whose fighters from the Arab Mahamid tribe have regularly clashed with RSF troops in Darfur in recent months.

Muslim Man arrested over alleged plan for terror act on New Year's Eve in Melbourne
[TheGuardian] A 20-year-old man has been arrested in Victoria after counter-terrorism raids on Monday, with police alleging he was involved in preparing for planning a terrorist act in Melbourne on New Year’s Eve.

The man has not been charged. The Victoria police deputy commissioner Shane Patton told reporters on Tuesday morning that the man “was intending to use a firearm to shoot and kill as many people as he could in Federation Square area on New Year’s Eve”.

“The male is one of our high-risk persons of interest. We have been monitoring him for a very lengthy period of time. He’s an Australian citizen and he is of Somalian parents.”

In a joint counter-terrorism operation between state and federal police and intelligence agencies, searches were conducted at two residential properties in the south-western suburb of Werribee and the northern suburb of Meadow Heights, as well as a commercial property in Footscray, in Melbourne’s inner west.

The man was arrested just before 3pm on Monday. The search at the man’s home in Werribee would continue into Tuesday afternoon, Patton said. “What we are seeing is that the search will be complex,” he said.

The man is now being interviewed in relation to preparing to commit a terrorist attack, and collecting documents to facilitate a terrorist attack.

Patton said that once the interview was complete, he expected the man would face court, possibly some time on Tuesday afternoon.

“We expect that he will appear at the Melbourne magistrates court and that he will be charged with those offences,” Patton said, adding: “This male did not access a firearm. I think it is very important that I provide that reassurance to the public.

“He has been subject to our active investigation and at no stage did he access a firearm … The arrest means that this threat has been removed.

“We are quite confident that there is no risk or no threat to the Victorian community now that we have removed him from society … there is no ongoing threat posed in respect to New Year’s Eve, Christmas or any other area.”

An acting deputy commissioner for the Australian federal police, Ian McCartney, said the charges that police expected to bring against the man were serious and carried a maximum penalty of life in prison.

Police do not anticipate further arrests.
Deutsche Welle adds:

the man after he attempted to purchase an automatic rifle.

The man, who was not named, had downloaded instructions from an al-Qaeda-linked website on how to launch a terrorist attack and how to use firearms, according to Victoria State Police Deputy Commissioner Shane Patton.

"What we will be alleging is that he was intending to use a firearm to shoot and kill as many people as he could in the Federation Square area on New Year's Eve," Patton said Tuesday.

Counterterrorism police had been monitoring the man for some time. He was allegedly a known bully boy and a sympathizer of the "Islamic State

Opposition takes early lead in Honduras election
[Al Jazeera] Hondurans remain on edge hours after polls closed in the presidential election as official results were suspended and two candidates declared themselves the next president of the Central American country.

The Supreme Electoral Tribunal released its first report of preliminary results nearly 10 hours after polls closed showing Opposition Alliance candidate Salvador Nasralla in the lead with 45.17 percent. He was followed by President Juan Orlando Hernandez of the National Party with 40.21 percent and Luis Zelaya of the Liberal Party with 13.77 percent with 57 percent of votes counted.

Ramiro Lobo, the magistrate of the tribunal told media on Monday morning that the trend of the results was "irreversible."

Political analyst Victor Meza, director of the Honduran investigative centre known as CEDOH and former interior minister, agreed.

"The trend is irreversible and Mr. Nasralla won the election," Meza said.

"The victory of the opposition represents the defeat of presidential continuity, political authoritarianism, and also the defeat of corruption," he added.

Men cleared of terrorism ties in high-profile border case
[Ynet] The arrests of six Middle Eastern men caught entering the US illegally from Mexico two years ago set off alarm in border states and in some right-wing blogs and other media outlets.

Now, documents obtained by The News Agency that Dare Not be Named through a public records request reveal the men were fleeing violence and persecution in their homelands and were cleared of any terrorism ties. The records also show they were physically and verbally abused by two Mexican smugglers with a history of crossing the border illegally and went days without food and water.

The case highlights the highly politicized nature of the U.S.-Mexico border as hysteria sometimes overtakes facts. Some blogs incorrectly reported the men were released. Others tied them to the Islamic State

Kuwait court sentences MPs to jail terms for storming into parliament
[Al Ahram] A Kuwaiti court handed several politicians jail terms on Monday for forcing their way into the parliament building in 2011 - a move that could cause political turbulence in the Gulf Arab region's most liberal state.

Protesters burst into parliament in 2011 after politicians had been denied the right to question then prime minister Sheikh Nasser al-Mohammad al-Sabah about corruption allegations.

Kuwait's al-Qabas newspaper said the court sentenced current MPs Jamaan al-Harbash and Waleed al-Tabtabai to five years and MP Mohammed al-Mutair to one year.

An outspoken former parliament deputy, Musallam al-Barrak, who earlier this year finished serving a two-year prison sentence for insulting the country's ruler, was sentenced to seven years.

The MPs have a considerable political following, especially among Kuwait's traditional tribes which have influence in areas outside the main cities.

Kuwait avoided mass Arab Spring-style unrest though citizens held large street protests in 2012 after the Emir Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah changed the electoral law.

While Kuwait allows more freedom of speech than some other Gulf Arab states, the emir has the last say in state affairs.

There have been a series of political trials and authorities have revoked citizenship of some Kuwaitis in the past several years that have drawn rebuke abroad and anger at home.

Afghan govt leader spotted in Fatemiyoun brigade gathering sparks concerns
Are they given golden keys for unlocking the gates of Paradise? That’s what the Mullahs gave the boys sent to clear the minefields during the Iran-Iraq war.
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] Amid growing concerns regarding the massive deployment of the Afghan youths in Syria war by Iran, the Afghan unity government deputy chief executive Haji Mohamamd Mohaqiq has been spotted in a gathering of the Fatemiyoun brigade operating under the Iranian Revutionary Guard to fight in Syria, a move which has further sparked concerns among the people regarding the fate of the Afghan youths who die and those returning to the country from the Syrian conflict.

Mohaqiq has reportedly attended the gathering in Tehran to praise the youths and Fatemiyoun brigade for the turing the conflict in Syria into the favor of the regime in power led by Bashir al-Assad.

He has reportedly hailed the leader of Hezb-e-Ullah Hasan Nasrullha and the commander of the Fatemiyoun brigade for their recent victory in the war.

However,
there's more than one way to skin a cat...
back in Afghanistan, the government officials and people are concerned that the participation of the Afghan youths will have a negative impact on the situation of the country.

An Afghan politician Ghulam Farooq Majroh says the participation of the Afghan youths in Syria conflicts and government officials endorsing such moves will have a negative impact on the country, considering the ongoing situation in the country.

The former Afghan intelligence chief Rahmatullah Nabil had earlier warned that the deployment of the Afghan youths to Syria may shift the Iran-Saudi rivalry to Afghanistan.

Amid growing concerns regarding the massive recruitment of the Afghan youths by Iran for the Syrian conflict, Nabil has called the move by Iran as a quite dangerous move.
